Government Corruption
DOJ Authorizes Postal Workers To Use Deadly Force On Trump When Delivering His Mail
[Bee] Unsealed documents from the Department of Justice reveal that postal workers were formally authorized to use deadly force while delivering mail to Mar-a-Lago.

"This is standard procedure," confirmed Attorney General Merrick Garland. "We are in no way secretly targeting Donald Trump. We are merely authorizing mail carriers to fire on Donald Trump if he shows up to collect his mail. This is for the safety of our postal workers and is nothing out of the ordinary."

To date, no mail carriers have been harmed while visiting Mar-a-Lago, but experts warn it's only a matter of time before Trump is caught eagerly waiting for a package. To prepare for this eventuality, the United States Postal Service will require all its employees who deliver to Mar-a-Lago to pass a gun safety course in which they fire on targets made to look like Donald Trump.

"This totally standard and not at all unusual protocol saves lives," Deputy Postmaster Milton Farmland said. Then, speaking through an intercom to trainees, he shouted, "Shoot to kill! Shoot to kill!"

"Neither snow, nor rain, nor Trump shall stay these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds," said Postmaster General Benjamin Connell, quoting the United States Postal Service creed as he adjusted the sights on his SVD Dragunov.

Asked to comment on the matter, President Biden explained he had no knowledge of what the DOJ does, or what his name is. "What is mail?" asked Biden. "This sounds like a trick. Did Jill put you up to this? Where's my ice cream?"

At publishing time, outraged congressional Republicans vowed to hold the administration accountable by writing a strongly worded letter to the DOJ.

THE MOST INCREDIBLE TORNADO VIDEO EVER CAPTURED
[YouTube] From Reed Timmer

INCREDIBLE up-close drone and ground intercept of powerful #tornado southwest of Greenfield, Iowa with wind turbines collapsing during a major tornado outbreak across the Midwest. This tornado outbreak is part of a historic severe weather season of 2024. Dominator drone and rental dominator tag team intercept of this tornado. Sadly, Greenfield was destroyed.

This is incredible footage from Dr. Timmer. Recommended watch, if just for the violent beauty of this storm.

These anti-depressants have been prescribed to millions - but have a hidden side effect that is worse than death
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The FDA is being sued for allegedly ignoring evidence that anti-depressants leave patients' sex lives permanently ruined - even years after stopping the meds.

Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) drugs like Prozac and Zoloft began carrying a label warning telling users they may cause erectile dysfunction, low libido, vaginal dryness and trouble orgasming only after patients began complaining of sexual side effects to their doctors in the 80s and 90s.

But thousands of former patients say they have been left completely asexual, numb below the waist, and unable to enjoy sex or sustain romantic relationships. Some patients have even experienced shrinkage of their genitals.

The FDA is now being sued by a team of scientists who say the agency has ignored their petition asking for a warning about permanent sexual side effects since 2018 and is asking the agency to warn doctors and patients about the long-term risks.

Kamala Harris roasted for word salad speeches in late night skit: 'Speaking without thinking'
[FoxNews) Vice President Harris was brutally lampooned over her habit of using "word salads" in a skit on "The Daily Show" on Tuesday.

"It means that I am the one by whom the thoughts are being advised, from a place of advisement. And then once advised, communicated, holistically," she says in the skit.

Arizona Senate advances measure allowing local, state police to arrest migrants illegally crossing border
[FoxNews] The measure now heads to the GOP-controlled House and will end up on the Nov. 5 ballot if passed by the legislature

Arizona senators narrowly approved a proposed ballot measure on Wednesday that would give local law enforcement the authority to arrest people who illegally cross the US-Mexico border into the state.

The proposal, which passed along party lines by a 16-13 vote, would make it a state crime for illegal migrants to enter Arizona from Mexico at any location other than a port of entry – therefore allowing local and state police to arrest them.

It would also allow state judges to send those convicted of the crime, which would be punishable by up to six months in jail for the first offense, back to their country of origin after completing their sentence. Judges could also dismiss a pending charge if the person agrees to return to their home country.

[Ballotpedia] Looking at the GA Elections Democrat (LSD) polling questions and the percentages of votes for each. It is clear many LSD agenda ideas are contrary to common logic and practical application in a real world enviroment.

In another they rename Abortion, "reproductive freedom".
In another the purpose Same Day Voter registration?

#1  13th Amendment -

"Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Seems clear to me. It's judicial interpreation which does not match the text that is at question. Interesting how the judiciary seems to ignore the amendment process to reword these things.

I am told that in the joint, you are provided basic upkeep and food. If you want anything else, it has to paid for by "commisary account". That covers snacks, gum, etc (but no smoking).
If you have friends on the outside, they can put money in your account, up to a certain point. Or you can work labor jobs to earn money into your account.
I also understand a couple of years ago, TDCJ was leasing prisoners to a company that ran a phone bank for credit card sales. Just who you want to give your CC info to.

Biden Admin Cancels $7,700,000,000 in Student Federal Loans
[LI] President Joe Biden announced another round of student loan cancellations.

This round totals $7,700,000,000. Writing it out shows how much money just went down the drain.

The administration has already canceled $167,000,000,000 in student loans.

In 2022, the Supreme Court said he overstepped his authority when he announced he would cancel up to $400,000,000,000 in loans.

The administration found ways to worm around the decision through established "federal student loan forgiveness programs."

These programs limit the action to "specific categories of borrowers."

"These discharges are for three categories of borrowers: those receiving Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF); those who signed up for President Biden’s Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) Plan and who are eligible for its shortened time-to-forgiveness benefit; and those receiving forgiveness on income-driven repayment (IDR) as a result of fixes made by the Administration," Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona announced.

The government has to pay the bill. Where does the government get that money? You and me. So we’re paying for our children’s and someone else’s college.

HOWEVER! That also applies to those people who had their loans wiped out. So they’re paying back their loans and others as well.

Iran Confirms They Are Interviewing Several New Turban-Wearing Bearded Genocidal Psychopaths To Replace Deceased President
[Bee] TEHRAN — Following the death of one of its prominent national leaders, the Iran government confirmed today that they are interviewing several new bearded genocidal psychopaths to replace its deceased president.

Despite the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, the Iranian regime assured its people and the world that it had already compiled an extensive list of ruthless, turban-wearing men with beards as candidates to serve in his place.

"No need to worry, we've got a full supply of extremist bearded mass-murderers in the lineup," said a spokesman for the Iranian government. "Though the tragic helicopter crash robbed us of one of our finest turban-wearing bearded killers, we have a long line of robed Islamic extremists waiting to fill the position."

Bearded, turban-wearing hopefuls lined up around the block at the House of Leadership in Tehran in hopes of being granted an interview for the job. "This is my dream job," said one robed, bearded, dead-eyed man waiting in line. "I have spent many years studying and preparing for the opportunity to serve in the government and advance the cause of our people and Islam. Though the death of President Raisi was sad, I am ready to carry on the tradition of murdering my own people and calling for the death of America."

The government spokesman said the first round of interviews would be completed within a week, followed by a rigorous, multi-step process to select the new president. "Whoever our next president is, you can be sure he'll have a beard," he said. "And he'll be a psychopath who hates Jews."

CIA Blocked Probe Into Hunter Biden's ‘Sugar Brother' Kevin Morris, Docs Show
[DC] More on this story from yesterday. I'd investigate him just for that jacket
The CIA appeared to instruct the Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for Delaware, Lesley Wolf, to block an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) team’s investigation into Hunter Biden from using his benefactor, Kevin Morris, as a witness, IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley said in an affidavit the House Ways and Means Committee released Wednesday.

Shapley, as a lead investigator for the IRS Criminal Division, was heading a probe into Biden in August 2021 when Wolf informed him that she and DOJ Tax Attorney Jack Morgan had been summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Wolf, Morgan and the CIA discussed Hunter Biden’s associate and benefactor, Kevin Morris, Shapley said in the affidavit.

Shapley and his team were considering using Morris as a witness for their case against Biden, but Wolf apparently shut the possibility down.

"AUSA Wolf stated that they were provided a classified briefing in relation to Mr. Morris and as a result we could no longer pursue him as a witness," Shapley stated. (RELATED: DOJ Blocking Testimony From Key Officials Involved With Hunter Biden Investigation, House Report Says)

Morris has been a generous donor to Biden, buying 11 of his paintings and loaning him at least $5 million for tax debts and to cover personal expenses, Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer revealed in a January press release.

Shapley asked Wolf to give him a classified briefing on the information she learned that prompted her to eliminate Morris as a viable witness, but she failed to share any information with him, Shapley said.

"Although AUSA Wolf initially appeared to be receptive to facilitating a briefing for me on the information, she ignored multiple attempts by me to arrange the briefing," Shapley claimed in the affidavit.

Wolf, upon her return from the meeting in Langley, appeared to flaunt agency-branded merchandise she acquired at their headquarters, according to Shapley.

19:20 Khar'kov direction. Positional combat operations in Volchansk.

RF Armed Forces advanced about 400 meters in the city's buildings north of the Volchya River along Lenin Street in the direction of the Volchansky Aggregate Plant and took up new positions.

17:07 Statements by representatives of the North, West, South, Center, East and Dnepr groups on the progress of the special military operation (as of May 22, 2024) -video.

16:44 Dnipropetrovsk region.Hit at Aviatorskoe airfield.

As a result of our ballistic missile strike on enemy UAV hangars, unmanned vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and aircraft were hit.

16:23 South Donetsk direction. District settlement Krasnogorovka.

Reportedabout the advance of our motorized rifles in the village of Krasnogorovka. Several armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were knocked out, including the Turkish Kirpi.

In addition, the work of our front-line Su-25M aviation, which is actively using NURs on the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is also reported.

15:12 Military expert Boris Rozhin about the situation in the Ocheretinsky breakthrough zone in the Donetsk section of the Northern Military District:

Netailovo. The village is mostly under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. The enemy retains some presence on the western and southwestern outskirts. The Russian Armed Forces are also seeking to expand control north and south of Netailovo.

To the north, the fighting has shifted to Yasnobrodovka, which is still held by the enemy. The transfer of additional enemy forces to Karlovka is noted. Proceedings are ongoing regarding the withdrawal of the 59th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the center of Netailovo.

Novopokrovskoe. The Russian Armed Forces have not yet entered the village itself; fighting continues in the settlements next to the village, which is controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The main pressure is now coming from the northeast. From Semyonovka, the Russian Armed Forces continue to exert serious pressure on enemy landing positions.

Ocheretino. In the direction of Sokol to the west of Ocheretino - no significant changes. One landing was made in the direction of Sokol. To the north-west, the Russian Armed Forces are conducting assault operations on the outskirts of Novoaleksandrovka. The fighting is gradually moving into residential areas.

To the north of Ocheretino, the Russian Armed Forces continue to maintain pressure in the direction of Kalinovo, but there the fighting is still going on for the opornik covering Kalinovo from the south. To the northeast of Ocheretino, the Russian Armed Forces are pressing hard in the direction of Rozovka. The control zone north of Arkhangelskoye and Novokalinovo continues to expand.

In general, the Russian Armed Forces retain the operational initiative west of Avdeevka, and the enemy, despite the reserves deployed here, was unable to completely stop the advance of Russian troops.

The Khar'kov direction continues to play an important diversionary role, since the appearance of 4-5 brigades to the west of Avdeevka, now tied up in battles in the north of the Khar'kov region, could help the enemy stabilize the front.

14:45 Advance of Russian troops –map:

Another clip has surfaced of RFK Jr. trashing red states as uneducated and hateful, implying they need NPR & other left-wing stations to educate them
This is standard stuff for Democrats. Why would anyone assume RFK, Jr. is any different? Because someone told him to repeat populist talking points to try to steal votes from Trump? It's a trick. Don't fall for it. "NPR is not liberal, it's the truth" is a flat-out lie and we know from the lips of the NPR CEO herself that the truth is a "distraction" that can get in the wy of getting things done.

Biden Drains Entire Northeast Gasoline Reserve In Bid To Lower Gas Prices As He Trails Trump By Double Digits
[ZeroHedge] Back in March, when reading the mammoth, 1050-page bill that was meant to avert government shutdown, but was yet another pork filled free-for-all bonanza authorizing $1.7 trillion in in discretionary spending, we stumbled upon something that was truly shocking: after Biden singlehandedly drained half of the US strategic petroleum reserve to avoid obliteration for Democrats in the 2022 midterm elections, Congress has snuck in a provision that would sell off and shutter the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve, a move that while perhaps keeps gas prices lower for a day or two, would also leave the entire continental northeast defenseless to any true environmental catastrophe or shock. We were so dismayed by the inclusion of this particular text, we wondered if it hadn't been put there solely for the benefit of America's enemies...

We were wrong: earlier today, just two months after the bill was signed by Biden into law, the panicking administration announced that it would sell the nearly 1 million barrels of gasoline in the US managed stockpile in northeastern states, the Department of Energy said, effectively closing the reserve.

The department created the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve (NGSR) in 2014 after Superstorm Sandy left motorists scrambling for fuel. But, according to some megabrains hoping to justify the dumping of gas so its price drops for a few weeks ahead of the summer and avoid even more anger aimed at the president, storing refined fuel is costlier than storing crude oil, so closing the reserve was included in U.S funding legislation signed by President Joe Biden in March.

Bids to buy the gasoline located at the two NGSR storage sites in Port Reading, NJ (900,000 bbl) and South Portland, ME (98,824 bbl), are due on May 28 and the Treasury Department's general funds gets proceeds from the sale. Incidentally, the proceeds from the reserve liquidation - which will amount to roughly $125 million gross (and far less net) - is roughly how much the government spends every 15 minutes!

Federal judge temporarily blocks part of DeSantis immigration law
[FoxNews] A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily halted enforcement of a Florida law that makes it a crime to transport illegal immigrants into the state.

The law, which Gov. Ron DeSantis signed in 2023, in part amends human smuggling statutes to make it a felony to bring individuals without lawful immigration status into Florida.

U.S. District Judge Roy Altman issued a temporary injunction against that provision and in his decision cited testimony from plaintiffs that they were "now too afraid to travel in and out of Florida with their undocumented friends or family members - for fear of being arrested or prosecuted or of having their family members deported."

Altman, who was appointed by former President Trump, blocked the law while a lawsuit brought by the Farmworker Association of Florida and several people who say they were impacted works its way through court.

Britain on the destruction of secret mercenary bases in Ukraine by the Russian forces
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian armed forces destroyed secret front-line bases where foreign mercenaries trained the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports the British newspaper The Sun.

“Of course, there were other bases, but they were destroyed by Russian warheads,” the publication writes, describing one of the existing such bases in the Khar'kov region, which served as a training center for Ukrainians.

According to former British soldier Dan Ridley, the operation of the base in the Khar'kov region is not funded by Kiev.

As reported by Regnum news agency, the Russian Ministry of Defense has previously repeatedly reported the defeat of deployment points and places of temporary accommodation of foreign mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The official representative of the department, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov, informed about such attacks, in particular, on April 28.

The Ministry of Defense also reported that almost 6 thousand foreign mercenaries who arrived in Ukraine were eliminated. Most of them were Polish citizens. The Investigative Committee of Russia has put on the wanted list more than 700 foreign mercenaries who fought and are fighting on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, some of them were arrested in absentia.

Mercenaries of the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not appear on the front line, they work in barrier detachments or act as operators of unmanned and other systems, the governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo previously noted.

85 civilians were evacuated from the Khar'kov region to Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian military, together with employees of the military-civil administration (MCA) of the Khar'kov region, evacuated 85 civilians from the region to Russian territory. The head of the VGA of the Khar'kov region, Vitaly Ganchev, announced this on May 22.

According to him, the main goal of the CAA now is the evacuation of people. “A lot of people, even those living in Russia, are contacting the administration that their relatives are in the liberated villages of the Khar'kov region.”

“This way we get to work right away. Our military personnel took 85 people from the northern territories of the Khar'kov region to Russian territory, who are located in temporary accommodation centers in the Belgorod region,” he told reporters.

As Regnum reported, on May 22, Ganchev said that the Russian Armed Forces had already liberated 49 settlements in the Khar'kov region. 36 settlements have been liberated in the Kupyansky district of the region, 13 in the northern part of the region.

On May 17, President Vladimir Putin said that Russian troops were advancing near Khar'kov strictly according to plan. He noted that the operation of the Russian Armed Forces in the Khar'kov direction is connected with the creation of a sanitary zone in response to shelling of Belgorod by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. “There are no plans to take Khar'kov today,” the president said.

On May 20, the deputy head of the administration for defense and security of the Khar'kov region, Yevgeny Lisnyak, said that the Military-Civil Administration of the region had created a center for recording crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the region.

The center’s employees record the consequences of Kyiv’s crimes in the liberated territories of the region and will help Russian law enforcement agencies carry out investigative measures, he noted.

Finland intends to work out the details of the Russian proposal on the border in the Baltic Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Finnish Foreign Ministry is working out details regarding the proposal of the Russian Ministry of Defense to clarify the state border line in the Baltic Sea. This was announced by the head of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, Elina Valtonen.

“According to media reports, Russia may reconsider the definition of maritime zones in the Gulf of Finland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (of Finland - Ed.) is working out the details,” Valtonen wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

She noted that Helsinki expects that Russia, as a party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, will act in accordance with it.

As Regnum reported, a day earlier the Russian Ministry of Defense proposed to clarify the line of the state border in the Baltic Sea in the Kaliningrad region, as follows from the draft government resolution posted on the federal portal of draft regulatory legal acts. The text of the draft itself has not been published.

It also follows from the published materials that the Ministry of Defense proposes to recognize as invalid on the territory of the Russian Federation the “Baltic Sea” section of the list of geographical coordinates of points that determine the position of the baselines for measuring the width of the territorial waters, economic zone and continental shelf of the USSR off the mainland coast and islands of the Arctic Ocean, the Baltic and the Black Sea, which was approved by a decree of the USSR Council of Ministers in 1985. If the project is adopted, marine navigation charts are expected to be reissued taking into account adjustments to ensure safety at sea.

The threat to “ neutralize ” Kaliningrad with NATO forces was announced in February by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and Ambassador of Lithuania to Sweden Linas Linkevičius. He stated that after Sweden joined NATO, the Baltic Sea allegedly became “internal” for the military bloc.

Press secretary of the governor of the Kaliningrad region Dmitry Lyskov emphasized that the Baltic Sea, contrary to statements by politicians from NATO countries, will never become an internal sea of this military bloc.

Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on threats against the Kaliningrad region, said that the rhetoric associated with the advancement of NATO military infrastructure to Russian borders always causes concern. Kaliningrad is part of Russia, and will always be so, he emphasized.

NATO considers Kaliningrad as one of the potential points for the outbreak of a conflict; this region of Russia for the military bloc is “like an eyesore,” noted military expert Dmitry Drozdenko in an interview with Regnum news agency.

#1  MOSCOW/COPENHAGEN, May 22 (Reuters) - A Russian defence ministry proposal to revise Russia's maritime border in the eastern Baltic Sea was deleted on Wednesday from an official portal after creating confusion and concern among NATO members such as Finland, Sweden, Lithuania and Estonia.
In its official submission, the defence ministry said that a Soviet measurement of the border from 1985 had used mid-20th century nautical charts, and so did not fully correspond to more modern cartographical coordinates.
But that proposal was deleted on Wednesday from the official portal where it had been posted.
A message said simply: "The draft is deleted."
It gave no explanation. The defence ministry did not respond to a request for comment.

'To take or not to take,' to leave or to stay. Khar'kov wants certainty
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Ilya Khorring

[REGNUM] While the fighting is going on in Liptsy and Volchansk, from where it is already a stone's throw to Kharkov, its residents want to understand what to expect. And decide, based on this understanding, how to live further.

“As for Kharkov, there are no such plans today,” President Vladimir Putin said at a recent press conference in Harbin. Khar'kov residents heard their own in this. Some say only that “ there are no plans ”, while others say “ there are no plans for today ”. But everyone clearly understood that Russian infantry would not enter the city in May and June.

In any case, everyone remains to their own thoughts, since due to mass denunciations such versions are not discussed out loud, but no one can forbid thinking.

What's next - we'll see. People have somehow gotten used to living only for today: today a shrapnel didn’t hit you, and that’s good, but tomorrow anything could happen. And this is not necessarily related to the changing military situation. For example, one of the local news agencies reported the other day how a Khar'kov woman “denied the existence of Ukraine as a sovereign state and campaigned to annex the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories to the Russian Federation.”

Experts quickly carried out a forensic linguistic examination, and its findings confirmed “the presence of a crime in the materials distributed by the collaborator.” Judging by the fact that suspicion under articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine about encroachment on territorial integrity and “justification and denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine” was announced in absentia, she is outside the country. And she will no longer be able to return to such a country: the woman faces imprisonment for up to three years.

Similar messages appear almost every day, and therefore not a single responsible sociologist will undertake to accurately assess the mood of citizens and even give estimates. Unless, of course, he works for the SBU or carries out a foreign order from an ideologized structure.

Political prisoners and rushed trials are as much an everyday reality in Khar'kov as public services or free public transport. Most of the reports are about how those who reported the coordinates of military installations were caught. There are many among those arrested who did not learn to keep their mouths shut and somewhere spoke out or wrote something about what they really think.

“A Khar'kov resident on the social network Odnoklassniki, which is banned in Ukraine, distributed messages in which he spoke approvingly of the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. The man was also nostalgic for Soviet times and assured that “the Russian spirit is eternal.”

During a search at the place of residence, law enforcement officers found equipment and devices red-handed, a collection of anti-Ukrainian poems written by hand, and notes with the characteristics of various types of missiles,” this is one of the completely typical messages.

The fate of those who worked in Izyum, Balakleya and Kupyansk in the spring and summer of 2022 while Russian troops were stationed there is especially unenviable. Teachers, doctors and postmen receive real prison sentences, not to mention police officers and municipal employees. And this practice makes Khar'kov residents not only silent, but also distrustful.

Although, without any surveys, we can say that they are now divided into three categories: those who want to continue to live only on the territory of Ukraine, whatever it may be; those who are waiting for liberation, and those who do not care whose city it is, as long as this problem is solved for a long time.

At the same time, they are all united by the fact that they do not want to serve in the army or in any way participate in the war. Those who wanted to volunteer ran out in 2022. Therefore, employees of the TCC (military registration and enlistment offices) catch unwary men around the city. And armor or a medical diagnosis do not always save you from falling into the trenches. For a long time, city residents warned each other where people were being hunted and handed out summonses. But the screws were tightened here too.

The other day, one of the local news agencies reported that “a 49-year-old Khar'kov resident could get eight years in prison for notifying the places where subpoenas were distributed. The prosecutor's office sent an indictment to the court... ” The accused is already in custody, and he is one of many administrators of telegram channels on which a hunt has been announced. Of course, not everyone is caught, and those who continue to broadcast use Aesopian language: police - “blue clouds” or “eggplants”, military registration and enlistment offices - “green”, patrols at some address - “rainy”, summons - “forecast” weather".

“Rains” are falling everywhere in Kharkov. They grab people in the subway, in minibuses, and just on the streets, near supermarkets. There were cases of resistance to military commissars in Khar'kov and the region, but they were not as frequent as, say, in Transcarpathia. But for a week now, a video has been circulating on the Internet about how women are fighting back a man they captured from the military in this region, judging by the license plates. They pull you out of the minibus and shout: “Run!” - although, if you believe the telethon, they should have blessed their defender for military work.

A small detail that actually says a lot. Like an old woman from a village in a war zone, openly mocking the police: “How afraid you are of them.” I mean, Russian soldiers.

The authorities, for their part, do their best to assure them of their resilience and that Khar'kov is impregnable.

“The Russians will not enter the city. I am confident in this because I communicate with our military several times a day and see how events are unfolding, I understand the real military situation,” says Mayor Igor Terekhov. Some even believe him. But this is not all, since it is still, in general, clear that the regional center will in any case end up in the “sanitary zone” that Russian troops are creating to protect neighboring Belgorod from shelling.

In this regard, the most popular topics for discussion both among those who remained in the city and among local residents who left there are “to leave or to return?” and how to survive if you haven’t left or returned.

This is how Khar'kov lives. A city where now everyone decides alone what will happen and how to live with it.

Of Course: Biden Was Plotting With Iran Against Israel
[HotAir] Plotting may be a bit strong, but not much. According to an report from Middle East Eye, the US was in secret negotiations with Iran, discussing, among other things, their shared desire for a different government in Israel.

The US and Iran were discussing changing Israel's government. Biden thinks the US shares an interest regarding Israel.

The talks have naturally been put on hold since the helicopter crash that killed both Iran's president and foreign minister. It's hard to make "progress" when your interlocutors are dead.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: May 22, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:56 Zelensky intends to attend events in Normandy in honor of the 80th anniversary of the landing of the allied forces and a G7 meeting in Italy to ask the West for even more weapons, as well as “ask NATO to shoot down Russian missiles,” Politico writes, citing sources.

21:45 The Cabinet of Ministers approved additional leave for the military for destroyed equipment. According to government decree, the longest vacation can be obtained for the destruction of an enemy ship or aircraft - five days. For an anti-aircraft missile system, a helicopter, an air defense radar, and a long-range visual surveillance complex, four days are provided; for a downed missile, destroyed self-propelled guns or MLRS, tank, howitzer, armored vehicles, heavy drone - three days; for other armored vehicles, trucks, medium drones, electronic warfare, electronic warfare or counter-battery weapons - two days; for light drones - one day of vacation.

21:38 The United States does not have information about China’s intention to supply weapons to Russia, Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan said.

21:33 Ukraine is already openly demanding permission to use Western weapons on Russian territory. The Financial Times writes that the recent invasion of the Russian army in the Khar'kov region could have been prevented if the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been able to launch a preemptive strike. Ukrainian officials argue that Russia might not have advanced as quickly in the northeastern Kharkiv region if Ukraine had been able to strike beforehand. For more details, see the material Western ban harms Ukraine.

20:19 The task of the Defense Forces today remains unchanged - to inflict as many losses on the Russians as possible, Zelensky said in an evening video message. He also said that during the day he heard Syrsky’s report twice: “The directions of the main battles have not changed. These are, first of all, Pokrovskoe and other Donetsk directions. Also the Kupyansk direction in the Khar'kov region. Maximum attention is given to everything along the border now, and not only in the Khar'kov region, but and also in the Sumy region."

In addition, the president said that today he had telephone conversations with the leaders of Chile, Albania, Austria and Mozambique - all of these countries will be represented at the Peace Summit in Switzerland. Zelensky also said that he held a special meeting on the basis of the National Security and Defense Council and Headquarters on the Ukrainian production of electronic warfare, drones, and missile programs. “There is something positive, but much remains to be done in countering Russian KABs,” the head of state noted.

19:37 The Khmelnitsky court allowed the first two convicts to mobilize - men born in 2000 and 1981, convicted of theft before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Each of them is fit for service due to health reasons, has passed psychological selection and has a sufficient level of physical fitness - these are some of the main conditions for release and mobilization. Now they will serve in the National Guard.

19:32 On Thursday, May 23, hourly power outage schedules will be in effect for industrial and household consumers throughout Ukraine from 00:00 to 24:00, Ukrenergo reported.

18:44 Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson spoke in favor of allowing Ukraine to strike with American weapons at targets in Russia: “I think Ukraine should be allowed to wage war as they see fit. They should be able to fight back. And I think That we're trying to micromanage efforts is not good policy for us."

18:38 The European Union has prepared the 14th package of personal sanctions against Russia, Radio Liberty correspondent in Brussels Rikard Jozwiak reported. 21 companies and 19 people will be subject to restrictions, including businessmen and defense industry enterprises close to Putin.

18:15 The Russian authorities decided to unilaterally change the country’s maritime borders with Lithuania and Finland in the Baltic Sea. Now the bill, which attracted the attention of the media, is no longer available on the website of the Russian government. But in the web archive there remains a copy of the description of the project that the Russian Ministry of Defense proposed for consideration. Read more in the material Threat to NATO .

17:58 Russia is blocking the transfer of bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers, said Bogdan Okhrimenko, head of the secretariat of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War. In particular, he said, Moscow refused to hand over the bodies of the soldiers who died on May 15. In addition, Russia has yet to hand over to Ukraine the bodies of prisoners who Moscow claims died aboard the Il-76 in January.

17:19 Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Armed Forces Mikael Büden said that the war in Ukraine “has reached a dead end” and will continue “for a very long time.” In his opinion, neither Russia nor Ukraine have sufficient capabilities to win it by military means. “I expect that the war will continue for a very long time. We have already taken this into account in our strategic plans for security and military assistance to Ukraine,” Buden said. He also noted that “Putin has set up the Russian economy for war in a way that we cannot. Currently, the Russians are producing a huge amount of weapons, much more than we can supply to Ukraine.”

16:37 According to preliminary data, the Russians today struck Khar'kov with two UMPB D30-SN (unified interspecific glide munition, 30 cm caliber), the prosecutor's office reported. In the Shevchenko district of the city, a hit was recorded at the entrance to a cafe, ten people were injured. One of the victims was a trolleybus driver who was near the epicenter of the explosion. The man is in serious condition; both legs have been amputated. In the Kholodnogorsk region, as a result of an airstrike, the buildings of a civilian enterprise, which is now not functioning, were destroyed. One person was injured.

15:56 In Volchansk, Khar'kov region, the Russians hit a police car with an FPV drone during the evacuation of local residents. One policeman was killed and one was wounded, said Interior Minister Igor Klimenko.

15:20 Ukrenergo reported that power outage schedules on Wednesday, May 22, will be in effect throughout the country from 19:00 to 00:00, and not from 20:00, as previously reported. The reason for the adjustment is an increase in cloudiness, which interferes with the operation of solar power plants.

14:59 In Kharkov, the number of victims has increased to ten, said the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

14:32 The Russians struck Kharkov, first with guided ammunition. There was a fire at a gas station and a cafe was damaged. A fire also broke out in an apartment building. Currently, four people are known to be wounded, one in serious condition - the trolleybus driver, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA.

13:55 British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said that American and British intelligence has evidence that China is preparing to provide Russia with lethal assistance for use in the war against Ukraine. “Lethal aid is already coming or will be coming from China to Russia and Ukraine,” he noted.

13:47 DTEK clarified that the blackout schedules in Kiev, as well as in the Kiev, Odessa, Donetsk and Dnepropetrovsk regions today will be in effect from 19:00 to 00:00.

13:06 The first F-16 maintenance specialists have begun returning to Ukraine, said Air Force Speaker Ilya Yevlash. According to him, these specialists will also share their experience with other Ukrainian military technicians.

12:58 Ukraine stopped the Russian offensive in the Khar'kov region thanks to weapons from the United States, writes Bild. According to the publication, the advance of the Russian army stalled 11 days after crossing the state border in the north of the Khar'kov region. In the direction of the village of Liptsy, the Russians remain in the same border villages that they took in the first three days. In the area of Volchansk, fighting for the city continues, but in its surroundings there is also virtually no progress. The reason is Ukraine receiving new American weapons. In particular, GLSDB bombs, Javelin ATGMs, and 155 mm artillery shells are actively used. They also entered the front line in the Donetsk region.

12:27 The Rada adopted a bill on improving the system of initial combined arms training. According to the document, instead of pre-conscription training, a new system will be introduced - initial combined arms training. It is implemented at the third level of complete general secondary education and is carried out in institutions of general secondary, vocational, vocational, higher education and other educational institutions by teaching the subject Defense of Ukraine and implementing activities aimed at military-patriotic education.

12:21 The Swedish government has approved a three-year program of military support for Ukraine worth almost $7 billion. It is designed for 2024-2026 - the country will provide 2.3 billion annually.

11:49 The Verkhovna Rada has created a temporary special commission for the arrangement of fortifications and the purchase of drones, said People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak. In particular, deputies will study the use of budget funds for the construction of engineering structures and the need for drones.

11:16 Russia likely launched an anti-space weapon into low-Earth orbit last week, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said: “On May 16, Russia launched a satellite into low-Earth orbit that we assess is most likely an anti-space weapon, presumably capable of attack other satellites in low Earth orbit." Ryder noted that this new weapon was deployed by Moscow in the same orbit as a US government satellite. Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov called this information a “stuffing”.

10:53 Ukrenergo today lifted restrictions on electricity consumption in all regions from 07:00 to 20:00. The company explained that sunny weather contributes to the operation of solar power plants, and the deficit in the energy system has decreased. At the same time, the head of the Poltava Regional Administration, Philip Pronin, said that an emergency shutdown schedule has been applied in the region, and currently there is no electricity for more than 19 thousand household and more than 1.3 thousand legal consumers in the Mirgorod, Lubensk, Gadyach and Lokhvitsk communities.

10:41 The number of victims as a result of the morning Russian strike on Chuguev, Khar'kov region, has increased to seven, said Oleg Sinegubov, head of the OVA.

10:35 Sea Baby SBU sea drones are now equipped with Grad systems, Ukrainian media report citing sources. According to them, on the night of May 20, Sea Baby drones effectively worked from the sea against Russian positions on the Kinburn Spit.

10:28 The head of the Bundestag Defense Committee, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, accused France of “doing relatively little” for Ukraine: “We have a problem that while Poland is doing a lot as a neighboring country, "while Germany does a lot, France does comparatively little."

10:01 A delegation of the French Armed Forces led by the Chief of the Joint Staff, General Thierry Burcard, visited Ukraine on an official visit, the Ministry of Defense reported.

Six high-rise buildings and seven private houses, a cell tower, an agricultural enterprise, and a gas pipeline were damaged.

Another person was wounded the day before as a result of artillery shelling in the village. Goptovka, Khar'kov district.

Russian Foreign Ministry warns France against participating in the conflict in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] France’s participation in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine will officially turn Paris into a side of the conflict, which will increase the risk of a clash between two nuclear powers, said Artyom Studennikov, director of the first European department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to him, the French military will become legitimate targets for the Russian Armed Forces.

The diplomat expressed hope that sanity or the instinct of self-preservation will prevail among French politicians. At the same time, Russia is ready for any development of events, he emphasized.

As Regnum reported, French President Emmanuel Macron previously made a number of statements about the possibility of Western countries sending troops to Ukraine. In particular, on May 2, he did not rule out that he would send French troops there if the Russian army broke through the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned NATO countries against sending troops to Ukraine and stressed that the consequences for the interventionists would be tragic. In addition, the direct participation of NATO countries in the conflict could provoke a nuclear war, he noted.

The day before, on May 21, exercises began in Russia to test the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. During the exercises, the Aerospace Forces will equip the Daggers with special warheads and move to the patrol area. As part of the first stage of the exercise, the tasks of obtaining ammunition for the Iskander and secretly advancing to the designated area are being worked out.

On May 6, the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, on behalf of Putin, began preparations for exercises with missile formations of the Southern Military District, involving aviation and naval forces. During the exercises, the military will conduct activities to practice the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. The exercises are also a response to provocative statements and threats by certain Western officials, the Russian Ministry of Defense noted.

Germany Says It Will Arrest Netanyahu As Israeli Envoy Appeals To Berlin To Defy ICC
[MSN] Israel’s Ambassador to Berlin, Ron Prosor, was rebuffed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government on Wednesday after the envoy made a dramatic appeal on X, formerly Twitter, to the Federal government to reject the ICC’s legitimacy fully.

Scholz’s spokesman, Steffen Hebestreit, was asked on Wednesday if the German government would execute an ICC arrest order against Prime Minister Netanyahu for alleged war crimes during Swords of Iron.

Hebestreit said, "Of course. Yes, we abide by the law."

On Tuesday, before Hebestreit’s announcement, Prosor wrote on X in both German and English, “This is outrageous! The German 'Staatsräson' is now being put to the test—no ifs or buts. This contrasts with the weak statements we hear from some institutions and political actors. The public statement that Israel has the right to self-defense loses credibility if our hands are tied as soon as we defend ourselves.”

Staatsräson is the German word that refers to Germany's pledge to ensure Israel’s security is part of its national security and interests. Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared during her 2008 Knesset speech that Israel is part of Germany’s raison d'etre—or state of being.

#6  The ICC does not have universal jurisdiction. Rather, it can only exercise its jurisdiction in cases involving crimes under international law committed on the territory of or by a national of a state party.

Israel is not a state party to the ICC. However, Palestine declared its accession to the ICC Statute on January 2, 2015. Against the backdrop of Palestine's disputed statehood, the question of whether Palestine has thus become a state party to the Statute harbors considerable potential for discussion.

According to a decision by Pre-Trial Chamber I of the ICC in 2021, the accession is effective in view of Palestine's status as a "non-member observer state" of the United Nations and the so-called "all states" clause contained in Art. 125 para. 3 of the ICC Statute. Palestine is therefore considered a state for the purposes of the ICC Statute (and only for these purposes). This means that acts committed on Palestinian territory (Gaza, West Bank, East Jerusalem) are subject to the jurisdiction of the ICC, including those committed by nationals of the non-party state of Israel. The same applies to acts committed by Palestinians, including those committed on the territory of Israel, which is not a party to the treaty.

However, the decision of the Pre-Trial Chamber was only made by a 2:1 majority at the time. It is not binding. Accordingly, the question of Palestine's status as a state party may once again become important in further proceedings.

#7  The accusation that Netanyahu and Gallant are suspected of having committed a crime against humanity is very far-reaching. This offence refers to the targeting of an identifiable group or community with a discriminatory motivation, namely for "political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural or religious reasons, reasons of sex [...] or other reasons universally recognized as impermissible under international law [...]". The prosecutor claims the Palestinian civilian population is attacked on the basis of their status as Palestinians. Yet the prosecutor refrains from giving any reasons in this regard in his statement.

Short version: Ideological nonsense.

#10  I might add: The ICC has no business with Israel because Israel is a democracy (the only one in the Middle East) with a functioning judiciary that would prosecute war crimes committed by Israelis if there were any. And of course countries must be given due time to do that, and certainly not in the middle of a war.

The ICC was meant to prosecute war crimes that are not prosecuted nationally. Later. Much later.

This is all nonsense. Of course the current German government won't say so. And I despise them for this cowardice.

So much easier to say: Oh, we just follow international law. The correct answer would be to leave the jurisdiction of the ICC because it's become an ideological tool. Or always has been.

Hunter's laptop IS real, says . . . the Biden Justice Department
[NYPost] Where's the resignations in disgrace and removal of security credentials from the 51 assholes that signed that Agitprop?
It’s already been confirmed as 100% real eight ways from Sunday, but in case anyone still needed proof that the Hunter Biden laptop is real, look no further than . . . the Biden Justice Department.

Yes, special counsel David Weiss is going to submit the laptop as evidence against Hunter in his upcoming gun trial, per a filing made Wednesday.

The irony is all the more delicious given that Weiss is best known for working as point-man on “Big Guy” Joe’s effort to make sure the first son faced no real punishment.

Senators grill Biden judicial nominee over transgender inmate transfer request despite sex crimes convictions
[FoxNews] Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn recommended in 2022 that William McClain, who goes by July Justine Shelby, be housed with female prisoners

A President Biden judicial nominee was grilled Wednesday over a 2022 recommendation that a biological male, who has apparently transitioned and identifies as a female, be transferred to a female prison despite previous convictions for raping children and possession of child pornography.

During a Senate Judiciary hearing, Republican Sens. John Kennedy of Louisiana, and Ted Cruz of Texas, questioned U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn, who was nominated to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, over why she recommended William McClain, who goes by July Justine Shelby, be housed with female inmates in a federal prison.

"Miss Shelby said I don't want to go to a male prison. I want to go to a female prison," Kennedy told Netburn. "And the Board of Prisons said 'What planet did you parachute in from? You're going to a male prison with this kind of record.' And you sent him to a female prison, did you? You said that the Board of Prisons was trying to violate Ms Shelby, former Mr. McClain's, constitutional right, didn't you?"

Florida lawmakers erupt over Cuban officials touring secure parts of top airport
[FoxNews] Florida lawmakers in Congress are demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) about Cuban officials touring secure areas of the Miami International Airport, raising national security concerns from both local and national lawmakers.

"You are taking agents from a country which is on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. And you're showing them our procedures and our equipment and our sensitive areas that protect the American public from terrorism. So how does that make sense?" Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., told Fox News Digital in an interview.

Republican lawmakers led by Gimenez wrote to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator David Pekoske about the tour, which took place on Monday at the Miami airport.

Other lawmakers on the letter include Sens. Rick Scott and Marco Rubio, and Reps. Maria Elvira Salazar and Mario Diaz-Balart.

CBS News Miami reported that officials said the five-hour tour involved a tour of sensitive areas of the airport — a security checkpoint and a baggage screen area.

"You're taking agents of the Cuban Communist Party and showing them the TSA equipment and procedures at Miami International Airport, where there's a community of over a million Cuban exiles, that were exiled due to that same regime. It's a slap in the face of that community," Gimenez said.

He also noted that the visit purportedly took place on May 20th — Cuban Independence Day.

In the letter, the lawmakers say that it is not the first time that Cuban delegations have been given tours, pointing to tours of the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters last year and a visit of port facilities in Wilmington, North Carolina.

"Under your watch, Cuban operatives have again accessed sensitive, secure areas within the U.S. transportation system. Yet again, Congress must step in to prevent your Department and the Biden Administration from hosting individuals from a country which our Department of State has listed as a SSOT [State Sponsors of Terrorism] since 2021," the lawmakers said.

The lawmakers want to know which statutory authority officials invited members of the Cuban government under, the areas accessed, the process for hosting tours, any visas that were issued and the security protocols in place.

In response to the letter, a DHS spokesperson said it "responds to congressional correspondence directly via official channels, and the Department will continue to respond appropriately to Congressional oversight."

A TSA spokesperson told Fox that it "routinely works with all countries with direct flights to the United States."

"TSA hosts government officials and members of the aviation community at U.S. airports to foster a strong global aviation security posture. U.S. and Cuban authorities jointly manage the airspace between Cuba and the United States and ensure the safety and security of travelers using our airports," the spokesperson said. "The Republic of Cuba has six last point of departure airports with direct flights to the United States, and accordingly TSA continually works to strengthen the security framework with Cuba and other Caribbean nations.

The agency says that Cuban officials did not access sensitive technology or systems and instead received a general overview of security operations, including Equipments that anyone screened can see, along with best practices so that Cuba can implement similar measures. It also said that Miami International Airport recently welcomed officials from Antigua, Barbados, Spain and Brazil for similar visits and that the last such Cuban delegation visit came in August 2018.

New text message allegedly reveals Hunter Biden proposed meeting for dad, uncle and Chinese exec in NYC
[FoxNews] Newly released messages from the House Ways and Means Committee appear to show Hunter Biden proposing a meeting in New York City between the boss of a Chinese energy company and Joe Biden, the former vice president at the time, along with Joe's brother, Jim Biden.

"Can you meet this evening early," Hunter Biden asked Yadong Liu, CEO of CEFC Global Strategic Holdings in a poorly punctuated text message the evening of Dec. 12, 2017.

"My father will be in New York also and he wants me to attend the Sandy Hook memorial service with him and I would like him to meet you along with my uncle and then you and I can talk let me know if that works."

"I'm sorry for the late notice I got off the red eye in Baltimore from LA and take a little nap before I got his message," Hunter added.

Yadong told Hunter "No problem" and asked to let him "know when and where to meet."

RSF accused of atrocities in fresh attack on El Fasher camp
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Volunteers have reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) committed severe abuses against residents of an overcrowded camp for displaced persons in El Fasher, before being forced out by a joint force of armed movements and the Sudan

ese army.

El Fasher, the historic capital of the Darfur region, has been engulfed in bloody festivities for approximately two weeks between the army, allied armed movements, and the RSF, resulting in significant civilian casualties.

The RSF’s attempts to seize control of the city continue despite international and regional calls for de-escalation.

Abdel Hafiz al-Ghali, a member of the Abu Shouk Camp Emergency Room, reported to Sudan Tribune that "RSF militias stormed the camp, committing brutal crimes against unarmed youth, including beatings, torture, detention, and looting."

The RSF reportedly infiltrated the camp from the north after the sudden withdrawal of a Sudanese army post. A source in the joint force explained to Sudan Tribune that the RSF exploited the army’s withdrawal, pushing in a large number of their elements before being repelled to the strategically located Mellit gate, now a no man’s land between the warring parties.

The El Fasher Emergency Room announced that around 18 people, including women, children, and the elderly, were maimed inside the Abu Shouk camp due to the violent mostly peaceful festivities.

Stuck with a record of failure, Biden has resorted to outright vote-buying
[NYPOST] Unable to run on his stunning record of failure, President Biden has resorted to the lowest of campaign tricks: buying votes — and he’s doing it with your dollars.

No, it’s not actually a quid pro quo; no one he’s trying to bribe is obliged to back him in November.

But he’s trying, with the full faith and credit of the United States as his stake.

The latest: Wednesday, he announced yet another student-loan bailout, another $7.7 billion to 160,000 young Americans — bringing his total college-debt handout to a whopping $167 billion to some 4.75 million folks.

Never mind that he has no congressional authority to cancel many of these loans. Or that the Supreme Court explicitly struck down his first bid to forgive as much as $20,000 per student.

On another front, the day before he announced plans to drain another million barrels of gasoline from supplies in the nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

13th conservative Oregon county approves measure to secede and join 'Greater Idaho'
[NYPOST] Another right-leaning county in eastern Oregon has voted to secede from the Democrat-run state and join neighboring Idaho, according to reports.

Crook County residents passed the measure by a 53% majority Tuesday, making it the 13th county in the state to sign onto the movement known as "Greater Idaho," NewsNation reported.

"The voters of eastern Oregon have spoken loudly and clearly about their desire to see border talks move forward," said the Greater Idaho movement’s executive director Matt McCaw.

"With this latest result in Crook County, there’s no excuse left for the Legislature and Governor to continue to ignore the people’s wishes."

Milwaukee news crew witnesses, records hit-and-run crash involving stolen vehicle while reporting on recent shooting
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Milwaukee news hound Kaylee Staral with TMJ4 was recording a follow up report on a shooting when she witnessed a hit and run in which a driver crashed into a parked car in which a 57-year-old was sitting. The driver of the instigating car exited the vehicle and fled on foot while the passenger struggled to get out of the car and appeared to be in substantial pain.

Milwaukee police said the car had been freshly stolen and that two people were hurt in the incident. From behind the news hound, a car can be seen veering into an intersection before leaving the roadway, jumping the curb, and smashing into a parked car.

The driver of the vehicle then exits and flees on foot, leaving the passenger to fend for themselves. A passerby attempts to aid the passenger and the news hounds call 911 to report the incident.

In a report, TMJ4 gives further details on the incident, which happened on Sunday night. Per police, a driver lost control of the car before crashing into a parked car. That parked car smashed into an unmarked Milwaukee Police Department squad car.

The man who was in the parked car was taken to the hospital for treatment, as was the passenger of the stolen car, who was treated and then arrested.

TMJ4 brought the incident to the attention of Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, who was primarily concerned about the injuries sustained by the passenger in the stolen car.

"The passenger in that video that you just showed me, he couldn't even get up, he couldn't even move," Johnson told TMJ4. "He tried to get out of the car and he collapsed. You don't want that to be your kid or a kid you care about. Let's have these conversations and let's put a stop to this."

The driver of the stolen vehicle is still on the lam.

16 of 49 US SSNs in Drydocks or Waiting for Available Drydock Space
A taste:
[CDRSalamander] If you’ve hung around American navalist circles enough, you’ve heard people defend the proposition that it isn’t the aircraft carrier that is our capital ship; it is the nuclear attack submarine (SSN).

If true, you would think that everything would be done to make sure that the ones we have were properly maintained, and the industrial infrastructure was scalable, and robust.

You would think.

Over at American Affairs Journal, our friend Jerry Hendrix has an exceptionally well-researched article that needs to be on your must-read list this week, Sunk at the Pier: Crisis in the American Submarine Industrial Base.

Onstation at the yards, his SITREP is sobering;

…of the submarine force already in commission, sixteen of those forty-nine boats—or nearly a third of the Navy’s premier offensive force—are in drydocks or tied to piers, lacking required dive certifications. These submarines cannot get underway due to a three-year maintenance backlog in the U.S. Navy. The bottom line is that the American submarine force, the “point of the spear” of American power, upon which so many military plans depend, is unprepared to meet the current threat environment, and there are no quick fixes. It has taken decades—and a sequence of bad assumptions and poor decisions—to fall into the current state of unpreparedness, and it will take years, as well as significant investments in both new ship construction and submarine repair capacity, to recover.

Peace through superior firepower.

Peace happens when both sides know who would win, war results when it is in question.

I realize the nuc boats always have reactor guys on board, even when powered down, but how 'bout the rest? They seem to be shorthanded.

UCLA police chief reassigned over handling of anti-Israel demonstrations
[IsraelNationalNews] The police chief at the University of California, Los Angeles, has been reassigned following criticism over his handling of recent campus demonstrations that included a mob attacking a pro-Palestinian Arab encampment, The Associated Press reported on Wednesday.
Eh?
Chief John Thomas was temporarily reassigned Tuesday "pending an examination of our security processes," said Mary Osako, UCLA vice chancellor for strategic communications, in a statement released Wednesday.

The Daily Bruin reported late Tuesday that Thomas said in a text to the campus newspaper, "There’s been a lot going on and, I learned late yesterday that I’m temporarily reassigned from my duties as chief."

Neither Osako nor Thomas identified his reassigned role.

The reassignment of Thomas follows UCLA’s May 5 announcement of the creation of a new chief safety officer position to oversee campus security operations.

Sporadic disruptions continued following the dismantling of a pro-Palestinian Arab encampment and some 200 arrests on April 30.

Israeli forces move deeper into Rafah in night of heavy battle
[GEO.TV] Israeli tanks advanced to the edge of a crowded district in the heart of Rafah on Wednesday during one of the most intense nights of bombardment of the southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
city since Israel launched its offensive there this month.

Israel's assault on Rafah on Gaza's southern edge has set hundreds of thousands of people fleeing what had been a refuge for half of the enclave's 2.3 million people. It has also cut off the main access routes for aid into Gaza, drawing international fears of mass casualties and famine.

Israel says it has no choice but to attack the city to root out the last battalions of Hamas

fighters it believes are sheltering there. Its troops have been slowly moving into the eastern outskirts of Rafah since the start of the month.

Residents and fighters said tanks had taken up new positions on Wednesday further west than before along the southern border fence with Egypt, and were now stationed on the edge of the Yibna neighbourhood at the centre of Rafah. They had not yet entered the district as fighting had been intense.

Members of the Circassian diaspora at the UN building in New York recalled the expulsion of their ancestors
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Circassian activists held outside the UN General Assembly in New York to mark the end of the Caucasian War and the expulsion of their ancestors from their historical homeland.
Is there any group that either the Russian empire or the Soviets did not try to wipe out and/or expel?
As  the "Caucasian Knot" reported, the action to mark the end of the Caucasian War and the expulsion of the Circassians from their historical homeland took place on May 21 in Istanbul  under enhanced security measures. Activists were not allowed to hold an action on the main street of the European part of Istanbul, where the Russian Consulate General is located, but they were able to  lay a funeral wreath  at the walls of the diplomatic mission.

The Caucasian War, which lasted from 1763 to 1864, brought the Adyghe peoples to the brink of extinction. After the war and the mass deportation of the Circassians to the Ottoman Empire, a little more than 50,000 people remained in their homeland. The Russian authorities have not yet made a decision to recognize the genocide of the Circassians during the war, according to a certificate from the "Caucasian Knot".

Circassian activists gathered on May 21 at the headquarters of the UN General Assembly in New York on the 160th anniversary of the end of the Caucasian War and the expulsion of the Circassians from their historical homeland. Due to the time difference, the action took place around midnight Moscow time.

As one of the organizers of the commemorative action, the plenipotentiary representative of the United Circassian Council in the USA, the chairman of the socio-political movement "Circassian Congress of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic" Kase Kik, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, "about 30 people" gathered for the action, representatives of the new wave emigration. “They were mostly Circassians, but representatives from the League of Nations organization came to support us - Kalmyks, Tatars and Buryats. Unfortunately, not everyone could show their faces [for photos] due to the situation in Russia; there is a high probability of reprisals against relatives and friends,” said Kik.

He also noted that the authorities did not interfere with the rally. “The police were very friendly and helped carry out the action,” Kick said. According to him, the goal of the action is to raise awareness of the rights of Circassians.

The co-organizer of the action, the head of the newly created organization "Circassian Center of the USA" Marianna Sheru told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that "12 representatives of the Circassian diaspora from different parts of the USA came to participate in the action: Florida, Louisiana, California, Atlanta, Chicago, Arkansas."

Also, the Council of United Circassia sent an appeal to the UN Secretary General, which, in particular, expresses concern that the Circassian language, due to its absence in the school curriculum, may suffer the same fate as the Ubykh language.

The Ubykhs are the indigenous people of the Western Caucasus, one of the subethnic groups of the Circassians (Circassians). After the Russian conquest of the Caucasus in 1858-1865, the Ubykhs almost completely moved to the Ottoman Empire and quickly assimilated, so even the approximate number of Ubykh descendants in modern Turkey cannot be established. According to the 2010 census, the Ubykh nationality does not exist in Russia. The Ubykh language is considered dead today: its last speaker was Tevfik Esench, who died in 1992, according to  the  Caucasian Knot reference material.

In the photographs sent to the Caucasian Knot, those gathered for the rally are holding posters in their hands. Kase Kik was holding a poster demanding recognition of the Circassian genocide. Representatives of the Kalmyk diaspora expressed solidarity with the Circassians and other Caucasian peoples. Marianna Sheru was holding a poster with a reminder of the consequences of the Caucasian War for the Circassians.

Commemorative events were also held on this day in the office of the Circassian Charitable Association of the USA. About fifty representatives of the Circassian community in the United States gathered at the evening dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the expulsion of the Circassians.

Attackers wanted to 'slit my throat', says PTI's Raoof Hasan
[GEO.TV] After surviving a horrific attack in Islamabad earlier this week, Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf
...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations....
(PTI) Information Secretary Raoof Hasan on Wednesday claimed that the attackers wanted to "slit" his throat.

The senior politician, while addressing a presser at the party’s secretariat in Islamabad alongside PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan and big shot Azam Swati, said his party's opponents failed to eliminate the Imran-founded party despite using all tactics.

He broke down in tears while saying that his party colleagues faced much worse scenarios compared to what he suffered.

Hasan claimed that the same people "threatened me three days ago and warned me that they are chasing me". He added that he rejected the First Information Report (FIR) lodged by the police department after the attack.

He censured the Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) government yet again and alleged that "a party has been given the rulership" which bowed down before the power centres.

The injured PTI spokesperson added that the opponents failed to establish any strong narrative against the former ruling party. He vowed that PTI leaders would never bow down before anyone at any cost.

Pointing towards the incarcerated party founder Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who anti-establishment Pak premier, who was hounded out of office, arrested, jailed, and will likely be hung by his political opponents...
, Hasan said that the incumbent rulers would soon realise the necessity to hold talks with the individual who is kept at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.

For his part, Omar condemned the brutal attack on Hasan and called it an "liquidation bid". He said the party rejected the FIR which was "a police attempt to weaken the case". He demanded the constitution of a judicial commission to probe the attack on the PTI spokesperson.

Responding to Hasan’s statement, Islamabad police rejected the injured politician’s objections to the FIR.

The Islamabad police spokesperson said in a statement today that the content of FIR was based on a written request submitted by the maimed politician which was received with his signature and thumb impression in the presence of his legal team.

The federal capital’s police asked Hasan to prove the contradictions in the FIR’s content and his written application as the "case was registered under sections in accordance with the charges".

In another development today, the federal government has formed a committee to investigate the attack on PTI's Hasan after registration of an FIR with charges of murder and attempted murder.

Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar confirmed the development today. Meanwhile,
...back at the hoedown, the fiddler suddenly struck a sour note. The dancing stopped abruptly. Everyone looked at Bob...
a police investigation team has also been appointed.

The law minister termed the attack on the senior politician "regrettable and sad", stating that such attacks should not happen.

A group of around four people, apparently transgender persons, attacked and injured the PTI spokesperson in Islamabad earlier this week, drawing strong condemnation from his party.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
it remains unclear why the politician was attacked by transpersons.

In a video shared along with the statement by the PTI, Hasan could be heard asking people to call the doctor, with injuries and blood seen on his face as he walked into a building.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Nicaraguan illegal immigrant arrested in Wisconsin for sexual assault, trafficking of 12-year-old girl
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] An undocumented Democrat from Nicaragua was arrested on Monday in Wisconsin's Fond du Lac County in connection with the alleged trafficking and sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl. The man was previously apprehended by Border Patrol in 2021 while crossing illegally and then released into the interior of the US with instruction to follow immigration law.

The victim's mother, who knew the suspect, has also been taken into custody for allegedly providing her daughter to him in exchange for money. Charges were not immediately brought against the mother and suspect in the case.

According to KAKE, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office has launched an investigation into the matter, and the pair could face charges of child human trafficking, false imprisonment, sexual assault of a child, failure to protect a child, and other serious offenses.

On Monday, deputies from the sheriff's office were called to a home in Oakfield, a small town about 10 miles southwest of Fond du Lac, after the homeowner called 911 to report that a child had shown up at his door asking for assistance.

When deputies arrived, the child explained that she had beat feet from the suspect's vehicle, in which she had been bound and blindfolded. Despite his attempts to keep her there, she had been able to fight him off and seek help at the home.

A short time later, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Fond du Lac and apprehended the suspect. The victim's mother was also picked up and transported to the Fond du Lac County jail.

The 12-year-old and her siblings were taken into protective custody and are safe.

ABC 12 reported that the undocumented Democrat's identity has not been determined. He is in his early 30s from Nicaragua and has multiple aliases. Deputies were able to determine that he was apprehended when he crossed the border from Mexico into Texas illegally in October 2021.

At the time, the suspect was apprehended and then processed at a federal facility to be released into the interior of the US. Upon his release, he was given instructions to follow current immigration policy as set by the Biden administration.
