Only those with palms painted pro-Palestinian red can enter parts of Erasmus University
[IsraelTimes] In cosmopolitan Rotterdam, Jews say they feel unsafe on campus, where they endure explicit calls for their people’s ethnic cleansing alongside intimidation and antisemitic violence

An anti-Israel protester approached this news hound while narrowly avoiding the guidelines of the 20-odd tents that dotted Erasmus University campus’s main square. Wearing a keffiyeh over her face, she asked about the purpose of my visit. About 30 of her comrades watched while eating dinner: a rice and lentil dish served from a large pot atop a portable gas stove.

"It’s a Zionist," she called out, upon learning the name of this publication, prompting the group to cover their faces with their keffiyehs and surgical masks. They encircled, screaming, "Intifada!" as they placed a Paleostinian flag over the camera to prevent any filming of the events taking place at one of Europe’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning. The protesters had a tray with red paint at the ready, which they use during blockages. Only those students or faculty who agree to dip a palm in the paint to show solidarity with Paleostinians are let through to various campus facilities.

Iraq
Five Islamic State bombs found hidden in Iraq's Al-Nuri mosque
[NEWARAB] A United Nations agency said it has discovered five bombs in a wall of Mosul's iconic Al-Nuri mosque, planted years ago by Islamic State group jihadists, during restoration work in the northern Iraqi city.

Five "large-scale explosive devices, designed to trigger a massive destruction of the site," were found in the southern wall of the prayer hall on Tuesday by the UNESCO team working at the site, a representative for the agency told AFP late Friday.

Mosul's Al-Nuri mosque and the adjacent leaning minaret nicknamed Al-Hadba or the "hunchback", which dates from the 12th century, were destroyed during the battle to retake the city from IS.

Iraq's army accused IS, which occupied Mosul for three years, of planting explosives at the site and blowing it up.

UNESCO, the UN cultural agency, has been working to restore the mosque and other architectural heritage sites in the city, much of it reduced to rubble in the battle to retake it in 2017.

"The Iraqi armed forces immediately secured the area and the situation is now fully under control," UNESCO added.

One bomb was removed, but four other 1.5-kilogram (3.3-pound) devices "remain connected to each other" and are expected to be cleared in the coming days, it said.

Turkey arrests at least 15 protesters at Pride rally
[NEWARAB] Turkish police detained at least 15 protesters in Istanbul on Sunday for participating at a banned LGBT Pride rally, after searching the streets having arrived at the scene after participants had dispersed, according to witnesses.

Police declined to comment.

The Istanbul Governor's Office said earlier on Sunday that the Pride March would not be permitted.

Turkish police blocked central Istanbul to prevent the march from taking place, shutting down metro stations and blocking traffic on the main streets.

President Tayyip Erdogan's Islamic-rooted AK Party has toughened its rhetoric against the LGBT community over the past decade and banned pride marches since 2015, citing "security reasons".

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Soldier killed, another seriously hurt by roadside bomb in West Bank’s Nur Shams
[IsraelTimes] Two Palestinians killed during attempt to extract troops from refugee camp near Tulkarem, including woman reportedly hit by shrapnel when gunmen set off unexploded missile

An Israeli soldier was killed and another was seriously maimed by a roadside kaboom during a counterterrorism raid in the West Bank on Monday morning, the military said.

The slain soldier was named by the Israel Defense Forces as Sgt. First Class (res.) Yehuda Geto, 22, from Pardes Hanna-Karkur. Two Paleostinians were also killed during attempts to evacuate the two from the Nur Shams refugee camp near Tulkarem.

The two soldiers were inside a Panther armored personnel carrier when the bomb went kaboom!. Geto was the driver, and the seriously maimed soldier is a commander in the Duvdevan commando unit.

According to an initial IDF probe, the vehicle was waiting in an area of Nur Shams where bombs were not believed by the army to have been planted. Other Duvdevan troops had disembarked from the APC to carry out operations on foot.

Armed groups in the West Bank frequently plant improvised bombs under roads to attack Israeli forces carrying out arrest raids. The military regularly rips up roads with armored bulldozers as a precautionary measure before entering with lighter-armed vehicles.

In this case, the army did not rip up the road where the APC was waiting.

The bomb was believed by the IDF to have been improvised, using dozens of kilograms of kaboom. The APC was disabled by the large blast, and later towed out of Nur Shams.

The Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terror group grabbed credit for the attack.

While trying to extract the two soldiers, the IDF attempted to carry out a dronezap against a group of button men in the area, though the missile did not explode, the probe found.

Later, several button men attempted to tamper with the missile, setting it off. The explosion killed a Paleostinian woman who was standing nearby, according to the military probe.

Separately, Duvdevan troops rubbed out a Paleostinian gunman who tried to open fire on the forces, the IDF said.

The Paleostinian Authority health ministry confirmed that a woman and a teenager had been killed. Wafa, the official Paleostinian news agency, named the slain Paleostinians as Nisreen Khaled Damiri, 47, and Muhammad Ali Sarhan, 15.

Wafa reported that the woman was hit by shrapnel from the drone missile, and the teenager was shot in the head.

The incident came days after a similar attack in the Jenin area, in which a soldier was killed and 16 others were hurt when Islamic Jihad operatives detonated bombs against army vehicles during a raid.

Since October 7, troops have arrested some 4,200 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,750 affiliated with Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 540 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed during raids or Death Eaters carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 21 Israelis, including security personnel, have been killed in Paleostinian terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another five members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank, including in Monday’s incident.

Israel's 'Zionist left' Labor, Maretz merge to form The Democrats
[NEWARAB] Two of Israel's biggest left-wing parties announced a merger on Sunday, naming themselves The Democrats, in what has been described as a potentially important move in Israeli politics.

Labor and Meretz signed the formation of the unified party with primaries set to decide which candidates will run for The Democrats in the next general election.

The Labor Party's Yair Golan, who was named The Democrats' secretary-general, said the formation of the left-wing party was essential given the challenges Israelis face with the rising influence of the right and far-right.

"Israel is in its most difficult time and this is the time for decisions - serious security threats, the real danger of annexing millions of Palestinians and the undermining of our delicate fabric of life - all of these require courageous steps. Our public is fighting in the streets to change the face of the country," he said, according to Haaertz.

"Today we have built a framework that will serve the public as best as possible on the way to promoting elections and replacing the most terrible government since the establishment of the state."

command centre.
When has a Paleostinian ever lied to us?
The release of Mohammed Abu Selmia without charge or trial raised further questions about Israel's allegations regarding al-Shifa Hospital, which its forces have raided on two occasions since the start of its nearly nine-month war on Gaza.

Abu Selmia said he and other prisoners had been tortured and held under harsh conditions, allegations that could not be independently confirmed but matched other accounts of Paleostinian detainees who have been released back into Gaza.

"Our detainees have been subjected to all kinds of torture behind bars," he said. "There was almost daily torture. Cells are broken into, and prisoners are beaten." He said guards broke his finger and caused his head to bleed during beatings, in which they used batons and dogs.
"They turned me into a newt!"
"I got better"

He said the medical staff at different facilities where he was held had also taken part in the abuse "in violation of all laws." He said some detainees had limbs amputated because of poor medical care.

'They killed everything': Israel's army pounds Shujaiya neighborhood for fifth day
[NEWARAB] For the fifth day in a row, the Israeli army continues its extensive military operation in the Shujaiya neighbourhood east of Gaza City, with Palestinian fighters putting up a stiff resistance.
"It was terrible! We're all dead now! The rigor mortis is so painful!"
Black smoke billows into the sky of the neighbourhood as a result of indiscriminate Israeli attacks on hundreds of remaining Palestinian homes in Shujaiya, according to locals in the territory.

Speaking to The New Arab, residents in the area spoke of how the Israeli army "insists on destroying" what remains of their neighbourhood, is not achieving its so-called goal (of destroying Hamas), and rather is seeking "to end what remains of life in the area and to prevent Palestinians from returning and living there."
"My hovel and connected tunnel were destroyed!"
On 27 June 2024, the Israeli army launched a surprise ground military attack on Shujaiya despite Israeli forces withdrawing from northern Gaza in January after having claimed to have "dismantled" Hamas's command structure.

The new operation is the third since the beginning Israel's war on the besieged coastal enclave. The Israel army claims it is eliminating tunnels "that were missed during the first time through". It also admitted that Hamas is regrouping.

Israeli forces are detaining pregnant Palestinian women
[NEWARAB] The Israeli army has detained at least two pregnant women in Damoun prison since 7 October — according to The Paleostinian Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners.
So the headline sez Israel is rounding up pregnant Paleostinian females and tossing them into the slammer. The very first paragraph sez there are two entire pregnant women since October 7th, which by my count is ten months, or a month longer than term. Two entire pregnant women in ten months doesn't suggest much of a pattern to me, though admittedly I only got a B in my last statistics course, which was in 1985.
Writing on Telegram, the group stated that the two women, Jihad Nakhlah and Aysha Ghidan, are among seven detainees currently under investigation by Israeli forces.

Overall, there are currently 78 female detainees held in Damoun prison, including three from the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. Strip.

The group also revealed that the women are subject to abuses including starvation and isolation.
Yeah, enforced late term diet and neonatal care is hell.

"They have been completely isolated from the outside world, and deprived of their simplest rights such as clothes Nobody likes hospital gowns and medical care in spite of the seriousness of health conditions for those who have chronic diseases," The Paleostinian Commission for the Affairs of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners said in its statement.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
357th Hezbollah member killed as IDF strikes in Lebanon after latest rocket fire at north
[IsraelTimes] Projectile hits home in largely evacuated border town

Several rockets fired from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
landed in Israel on Monday, setting off sirens in the north of the country and causing damage, but no injuries.

Amid the continued Hezbollah attacks that have pushed the two countries to the brink of war, the Israel Defense Forces carried out numerous strikes in Lebanon, with the Iran-backed terror group later announcing the death of one of its members.

Former war cabinet member Benny Gantz meanwhile warned European ambassadors that if the government in Beirut doesn’t restrain Hezbollah, all of Lebanon would soon pay.

Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis, with the group saying it is doing so to support Gazoo

war there.

After several hours of calm Monday morning, aside from a false alarm overnight, a number of rockets hit Israel in the afternoon. One struck the northern border town of Metula, the military said.

There were no reports of injuries, with Metula having largely been evacuated. According to Hebrew media reports, the rocket hit an unoccupied home, with no sirens activated to warn of the attack.

Rocket sirens were also heard in the town of Kiryat Shmona and at least seven rockets hit areas in the north during the afternoon. Five rockets were fired at the northern community of Maayan Baruch, setting off sirens. The IDF said the rockets struck open areas, causing no injuries.

Earlier, one rocket was fired at Dovev, setting off a siren there and another was fired at Ramot Naftali, setting off sirens. According to the IDF, both rockets struck open areas, causing no injuries.

The IDF announced a series of strikes in southern Lebanon throughout the day, including on buildings in Aitaroun and Ayta ash-Shab where Hezbollah operatives were gathered. Fighter jets also bombed additional buildings the army said was used by the terror group and other Hezbollah infrastructure in Markaba, Houla and Kafr Kila.

In the morning, the IDF said it carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
against a group of Hezbollah operatives spotted entering a building used by the terror group in southern Lebanon’s Blida.

The Hezbollah members were identified by artillery forces of the 91st "Galilee" Regional Division, and a short while later, a fighter jet struck the building, the IDF said.

In missions overnight, the IDF said it struck other Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. The targets included buildings used by the terror group in Kafr Kila and other infrastructure in Houla, Biyyada, and Rab al-Thalathine, according to the military.

In a statement Monday evening, Hezbollah declared the death of a member killed "on the road to Jerusalem," its term for operatives killed in Israeli strikes. He was named as Hamza Shour, from the coastal city of Tyre.
According to a post on yesterday’s Israel Times liveblog, Hezbollah announced Mr. Shour is the 357th killed by Israel since 10/7.

How a Gaza 'stunt' divided Australia's parliament
[BBC] When Fatima Payman crossed the Senate floor to vote against her government she knew it would come with consequences.

The Australian Labor party has strict penalties for those who undermine its collective positions, and acts of defiance can lead to expulsion - a precedent with a 130-year history.

The last time one of its politicians tested the waters while in power was before Ms Payman was born.

But last Tuesday, the 29-year-old did just that - joining the Green party and independent senators to support a motion on Palestinian statehood.

Officially the Australian government supports a two-state solution, but did not back the motion after trying - and failing - to insert a condition that any recognition should be “as part of a peace process”.

Within hours, Ms Payman had been temporarily suspended from her party room, by the end of the week it would become indefinite - after she publicly vowed to cross the floor again if given the opportunity.

"By her own actions and statements, Senator Payman has placed herself outside the privilege that comes with participating in the federal parliamentary Labor Party caucus," a government spokesperson said.

Prime Minister and Labor leader Anthony Albanese was more concise: “No individual is bigger than the team.”

On Monday, Ms Payman responded by saying she had been "exiled" – explaining that she had been removed from caucus meetings, group chats and all committees.

The dismissal of the senator, elected in what was billed as Australia’s most diverse parliament to date, has drawn a mixed response and raised questions - mainly, whether it’s practical or fair for politicians to toe the line on issues affecting their communities.

Each step 'felt like a mile'

Ms Payman stands out in Australia’s parliament.

The first and only hijab-wearing federal politician, she has been described as the embodiment of some of the nation’s most marginalised: a young woman, a migrant, a Muslim.

She recounted crossing the Senate floor as "the most difficult decision" of her political career, adding that each step of her short walk had “felt like a mile”.

However, the 29-year-old said she was “proud” of what she had done, and “bitterly disappointed” others hadn't followed.

"I walked with my Muslim brothers and sisters who told me they have felt unheard for far too long," she said.

The Israeli military launched a campaign to destroy the Hamas group which runs Gaza in response to an unprecedented Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October, during which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

More than 37,900 people have been killed in Gaza since then, including 23 over the past 24 hours, according to the territory's Hamas-run health ministry.

This has become a volatile political issue in Australia that all sides have sought to carefully manage.

As has been the case in countless other countries, there have been protests from both Jewish and Muslim communities, as well as a sharp uptick in Islamophobia and antisemitism.

The senator's move has drawn both praise and criticism.

Anne Aly - who became the first Muslim woman to be elected in Australia’s parliament in 2016 - and has been a fierce advocate for an end to the conflict in Gaza, said she disagreed with Ms Payman’s approach.

“I choose to do things in a way I think will make a material difference on the ground. Fatima chooses to do it her way," she told news outlet the ABC.

But Josh Burns - a Jewish Labor MP from Melbourne - who has a different world view from Ms Payman when it comes to issues such as Palestinian statehood, has been one of her biggest supporters.

“Parliamentarians come from different communities and backgrounds, and trying to balance all those perspectives isn't easy, but we must be an example to the Australian community about how to debate difficult issues respectfully.”

The nation’s Islamic bodies have also issued a joint statement describing Ms Payman’s actions as “courageous” and calling on the Labor party to “echo the voices of the people it represents”.

"Political calculations and attempts to walk both sides have devastating consequences in Palestine and will ultimately end in failure,” it read.

But Mr Albanese called the resolution a "stunt", adding: "We need actually real solutions... this stunt from the Greens was designed to put Fatima Payman in a difficult position. It was designed to do that."

Mr Albanese’s penalty against Ms Payman has been more lenient than the complete expulsion that party rules require.

And he’s left the door open for her to re-enter the fold if she’s willing to change course: “Fatima Payman is welcome to return to participating in the team if she accepts she's a member of it,” he said in an interview on Monday.

‘Not a token representative’

Australian politicians have voted against their own beliefs to fall in line with party politics before.

Queer MPs - including current Foreign Minister Penny Wong - felt a similar conflict in the Labor caucus back in the days when it officially opposed gay marriage.

It’s an issue that has opened Ms Wong up to personal attacks, but she’s remained adamant that quiet advocacy from within the party - rather than public criticism - is the preferred route.

And she says it was a decade of doing just that which saw same-sex marriage legalised.

“Even when we disagree, we have those arguments internally, as you saw over many years in the marriage equality debate. That’s what I did, and I think that’s the right way to go about it,” she told the ABC.

But when asked whether she should have followed precedent, Ms Payman said: “It took 10 years to legislate same-sex marriage... These Palestinians do not have 10 years."

The contrasting approaches represent the changing demands of the Australian public, according to Kos Samaras - one of the nation’s leading pollsters.

He says a growing cohort of young, multicultural voters are increasingly aligning themselves with politicians who aren’t afraid to take a stance on causes their constituents are “passionate about”.

He also argues that migrant communities are no longer willing to accept political messaging that effectively urges them to “keep their head down”.

“Australia has had a terrible history, whether from a societal perspective or political parties - that whenever someone from a diverse background expresses their view, overwhelmingly they’re told to pull their head in.”

“That’s a formula that kind of works when a new group of people migrate to a country and want to keep a low profile as they’re establishing a new life – it’s not going to work with those migrant’s kids. And that’s exactly who we’re talking about.

“These are people who have grown up in a country that has often made them feel like outsiders, and they’re no longer prepared to keep silent,” he adds, noting recent polling from his team which found that many young Australian-Muslim women feel they lack a political voice.

A refugee whose family fled Afghanistan after it fell to the Taliban in 1996, it’s a sentiment that Ms Payman says guides her politics.

“I was not elected as a token representative of diversity,” she said after her temporary suspension last week.

“I was elected to serve the people of Western Australia and uphold the values instilled in me by my late father.”

Ms Payman says that she believes the government is freezing her out to “intimidate” her into resigning.

But Mr Albanese is adamant that his decision is the right one, while emphasising that it is not about Ms Payman’s “policy position” but rather, her decision to “undermine” her party.

For the time being at least, the young lawmaker has vowed to “abstain from voting on Senate matters… unless a matter of conscience arises where I'll uphold the true values and principles of the Labor Party.”

Replacing Biden Improves Dems Chances
[Townhall] Consequently, the only question we should be asking regarding Biden’s removal is this: Would Biden’s removal at the top of the ticket help Donald Trump get elected President of the United States? It’s that simple, and the answer is simple as well. No, removing the weakest candidate Democrats have run since Walter Mondale does NOT help Trump get elected. In fact, replacing Biden with almost anyone would almost certainly HURT Trump’s chances, which is why so many Democrats are in panic mode to make this happen.

Before the debate started last week I tweeted this: "Should Trump have waited to debate Biden until both are formally nominated? If this is a massacre and ends in Biden being replaced, it would be one of the biggest political miscalculations in history."
Some at the Burg suggested this was part of the Obumble playbook.
Given how things have played out so far, it seems that agreeing to a debate this soon was a mistake, albeit an honest one. We shouldn’t want Biden - Trump’s best shot at winning - replaced on the ticket, and we shouldn’t help Democrats right their ship by lifting a finger to make that happen.

Official or Private?
[Yahoo via CFP] The U.S. Supreme Court ruled Monday that former President Donald Trump is entitled to immunity from prosecution for "official acts" taken during his presidency. But in a 6-3 decision along ideological lines, the court also ruled that he does not have immunity for his "unofficial acts" — and that not everything a president does can be considered official, as Trump had claimed.

"The President enjoys no immunity for his unofficial acts, and not everything the President does is official," Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the majority opinion. "The President is not above the law. But under our system of separated powers, the President may not be prosecuted for exercising his core constitutional powers, and he is entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for his official acts.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
WATCH: IDF destroys Palestinian Islamic Jihad's largest long-range rocket production site
[Jpost] The Commando Division brigade teams, Brigade 401, and the Yahalom Unit, under the command of Division 162, raided a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) outpost and an underground production site in the Tel-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, directed by the Intelligence Directorate, the IDF announced Monday evening.

The IDF teams located the largest underground site in the Gaza Strip for the production of rocket parts and long-range rockets by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

During the raid, Commando fighters and the Yahalom Unit fought both above and below ground simultaneously, eliminating terrorists using drones and precision missiles.

Hundreds of rockets have been produced at the site

The destruction of the outpost and the underground lathes (a machine tool) has impaired the terrorist organization's ability to produce rockets designated for attacking Israel.

Iranian general says itching to carry out another direct missile attack on Israel
[IsraelTimes] Revolutionary Guard aerospace chief Amir Ali Hajizadeh says he doesn’t know how many rockets would be used, but is ‘hopeful’ for opportunity to follow up April barrage of hundreds.

On Friday Iran’s mission to the United Nations vowed “an obliterating war” against Israel if it launches a full-scale offensive against the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon.

Iran itself launched an unprecedented missile-and-drone strike on Israel on April 14, two weeks after an alleged Israel airstrike near Tehran’s embassy in Damascus killed several senior officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The Iranian strike was almost entirely repelled by Israel, the United States, and other allies, though a 7-year-old girl was seriously injured in the attack.

‘Middle Eastern’ mob brutally beats lesbian couple celebrating a birthday
A lesbian couple was beaten by group of men who they accuse of first making rude comments about their sexuality while they were out celebrating their birthdays.

Terrifying scenes captured on video show the couple surrounded by nearly a dozen men, with one woman lying on the floor while another appears to be held back by one of the alleged attackers.

The assault came after one of the men allegedly made a rude comment about Emma MacLean as she was walking in downtown Halifax, Canada, with her girlfriend Tori Hogan after visiting a few bars to celebrate Emma's birthday on June 22.

McClean described the men as 'Middle Eastern', and said they are 'believed to be from Syria'.
Refugees migrants colonists.
Tori, upset about the slur, stood up for Emma and said: 'Hey, watch your mouth, that's my girlfriend,' as she followed the men to confront them, Saltwire reports.

But then the group of about 10 men allegedly started beating Tori around 1.30am.

'All at once they all just swarmed her and started punching and kicking her in the ribs. Then I kind of got into my fight or flight,' Emma told Saltwire.

She explained that she tried to protect Tori, saying she 'basically jumped on one of their backs and put them in a chokehold - trying to restrain them.'

But video shows some of the men in the group kicking at one of the women, who was lying on the ground - while the other struggled to break free from another man's clutches.

Eventually, a bystander alerted police patrolling the area nearby - but by the time the officers arrived, the fight had already ended, according to Emma.

Officers then spoke with one of the men involved in the alleged assault, who reportedly blamed the fight on the two women.

While he gave his ID, the other men involved refused to cooperate with police and identify themselves, according to Emma.

Police told CTV News they are still investigating the incident, and no charges have been brought against the assailants, who Emma and Tori believe to be between the ages of 18 and 24.

Emma said police told her they are hoping to get CCTV footage of the incident, but she said the existing videos taken by witnesses already show the men 'beating up two girls'.

Both Emma and Tori are rugby players and Emma grew up learning mixed martial arts in her father's gym.

Despite her training, Emma said she surprised herself by not throwing a single punch and instead opting to try and restrain one of the attackers.

'I put them in a choke hold,' she said, remembering that both her and the man fell to the ground before she let go after 'being manhandled'.

-Great Cultural Revolution
McDonald's quietly confirms it is killing off one of it's most divisive menu items ever - leaving fans torn
McDonald's has given up on its bid to sell meat-free beef burger in America.

US president Joe Erlinger has said the McPlant has been ditched because customers did not want fake meat.

The chain had been testing the McPlant at several hundred restaurants in California and Texas since trials began in late 2021. Developed with Beyond Meat, it was made from pea and rice proteins. While it has flopped in the US, it has been a hit in the UK, Germany, Holland and Portugal.

But there is little chance of a return to America.

McDonald's is now shifting its focus to chicken, which has become more popular among its customers than beef, partly due to its lower cost.

Salads, which were taken off US menus at the start of the pandemic, will also not return, Erlinger said. Those that want salads are going to dedicated sala chains like Chopt, Sweetgreen and Cava.

'If people really want salads from McDonald's, we will gladly relaunch salads,' Erlinger said at the Global Food Forum, according to Bloomberg.

'But what our experience has proven is that's not what the consumer's looking for.'

It is the second bit of major menu news in a week - the other being about the return of an item with a cult following.

The McRib - seasoned boneless pork dipped in tangy BBQ sauce and topped with chopped onions and pickles - is returning to America later this year. The sandwich, which has been dropped and then added back to the menu dozens of times over the years, polarizes fast food fans- some love it but others hate it.

McDonald's knows the McRib brings customers into restaurants and drive-thrus. Its return will be its latest weapon, along with its $5 value meal deal this summer, in the battle to win customers back in 2024.

'Bringing the McRib back for a limited time will spur some interest and foot traffic for McDonald's at a time when performance is flagging,' retail expert Neil Saunders, managing director of Global Data, told DailyMail.com. But he explained why McDonald's only sells it for limited times - rather than having it as a permanent fixture on the menu.

'The uplift is usually only temporary, so the chain still has work to do on areas like pricing if it wants to secure a better performance,' he added.

McRib - which has been described as the 'fast food sandwich that went viral before viral was a thing' - debuted nationally in the US in 1982. It was discontinued in 1985 after low sales, but then returned in 1989 and was broadly available in the US and other countries until 2005. It was then periodically reintroduced until disappearing again in 2012 for eight years. It didn't return until December 2020, when it came back for a limited time. At the time, it was a bid to lure back customers after the pandemic left its dining rooms sparsely populated or closed.

Another item also returned earlier this year. In April, we reported how McDonald's has brought back bagels to its breakfast menu. Bagels are not yet nationwide but they are in at least 1,200 restaurants - and could return to all 14,300 US outlets later this year. Bagels were first introduced to McDonald's in late 2019 but were cut soon after when bosses simplified the menu in spring 2020 during the pandemic.

Europe
Hungary's Orbán Announces New 'Patriots For Europe' Alliance With Austrian & Czech Nationalists

[ReMix] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, former Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, and Austrian opposition leader Herbert Kickl said the new alliance would hopefully entice others to join and become the largest nationalist political group in the European Parliament.

"Today we are creating a political formation that will ’forge ahead’ and very quickly become the strongest grouping and largest faction of the European right," Orbán said.

The Hungarian prime minister expects this to happen within days, and then the "sky will be the limit."

Orbán pointed out that the situation in Europe is clear, that European politics must change and change is needed in Europe.

He underlined that in 20 of the 27 EU member states, parties that promised change to the citizens won the European Parliament elections.

The Hungarian leader revealed the parties had adopted the Patriots’ manifesto, which summarizes the ideals and goals around which they are organizing their work.

According to Orbán, the European economy is in crisis, its weight is diminishing and the threat of terrorism and migration is constant. He warned of the ongoing war in Europe’s backyard that the European liberal elite had not been able to prevent from breaking out or from stopping.

"Today is a historic day, as we will present the group of three parties and their representatives, which aims to bring about a political change in Europe at the inaugural session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on July 16. It will be an era of freedom, sovereignty, peace, prosperity, and values," said Herbert Kickl.

"We will not stand idly by and watch the emergence of a European superstate in which the parliaments of the member states degenerate into a kind of folklore, where sovereignty and the self-determination of individual states are empty phrases. We want a Europe that once again shows itself and develops with pride, values, traditions, and diversity," said the FPÖ President. He added that "Europe does not want to be left to Macron, Von der Leyen or some left-wing experiment."

At the press conference, Andrej Babiš stressed that EU environmental policy should take more account of economic development in order not to jeopardize the competitiveness of the Community. Technically sound, economically viable, and socially just solutions must be found.

In the front part of the turret there was a single launcher for guided missiles and unguided rockets and a paired 7.62-mm PKT machine gun. The launcher is recoilless, closed type.

When using the Rubin ATGM, screw rifling was made in the tube for launching the NURS, of which four deeper rifling were used to launch the guided missile. When using the Astra ATGM, the tube had similar screw rifling for the NURS and two longitudinal grooves for launching the guided missile. On the end side of the breech of the launcher there was a mechanism for ejecting pallets through a hatch in the roof of the turret after bringing the system to the loading angle and opening the breech wedge.

According to the requirements, the tank's ammunition loadout was to include 24 guided missiles or 48 NURS, which were supposed to be placed in the loading mechanism. Either one guided missile or two NURS were placed in the same cell (pipe) of the conveyor, since the length of the NURS was equal to half the length of the missile.

Object 775 never entered mass production.

Solar company found to have ‘reaped billions' from top Biden law leads to outcry: ‘Appeasing the rich'
[FoxNews] First Solar executives donated at least $2 million to Democrats in the 2020 cycle, with a majority of that amount going to Biden’s presidential campaign, according to The Associated Press.

The company, the largest manufacturer of solar panels in the U.S., was "perhaps the biggest beneficiary" from $1 billion in Inflation Reduction Act spending geared toward environmental concerns.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Epstein grand jury records released, describe trafficker's network for 'grooming' underage girls
[FOX] Jeffrey Epstein, the sex-trafficking financier who died in federal custody while awaiting trial, had a network of groomed girls in Palm Beach, Florida, recruiting victims for him as far back as 2005, according to newly unsealed grand jury transcripts from a child trafficking case that he largely escaped with a slap on the wrist nearly 20 years ago.

The 176-page document contains new details about Epstein's crimes, including specifics about cash payouts to teens who recruited one another for Epstein's misdeeds, firsthand accounts from child sex-assault victims, and allegations of rape.

Palm Beach police initially opened the case after a fight between girls at a local high school, according to the transcript. One, just 16, had been accused of prostitution by a classmate, and a school official later found $300 in her purse, which originally came from Epstein, according to the documents.

She testified that she had been instructed to concoct a fake life story and pretend to be 18 to get $200 to give Epstein a massage before the first time she met him. Then she revealed she was asked to strip down to her underwear and had a graphic sexual encounter with him.

US Marshals recover 200 missing children across US during 'Operation We Will Find You 2'
[FoxNews] The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) found 200 missing children during the course of a six-week national sting that ended last week.

The second of its kind, "Operation We Will Find You 2," was conducted in seven federal judicial districts and geographic locations across the U.S. from May 20 to June 24, focusing on areas with an increased number of critically missing children.

In a press release, the USMS said the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (USMEC) assisted in the operation, which led to the recovery and removal of 123 children from dangerous situations, as well as another 77 missing children who were located and found in safe locations.

Out of the 200 children, 173 were endangered runaways, 25 were considered missing, a family member abducted one, and one was a non-family abduction.

Additionally, 14 of the recovered children were located outside the city where they were reported missing, and the youngest was 5 months old.

About 57% of the missing children were recovered within seven days of the USMS helping out with the cases.

"There are no words to describe the terror felt by missing children, their families, and their communities," Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said. "I am grateful to the dedicated professionals of the U.S. Marshals Service and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children who worked to find 200 critically missing children during this six-week operation, and who work every day to keep children safe."

The operation was executed in several locations, including Arizona, California, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon and New York City.

U.S. Marshals worked with federal, state and local law enforcement, NCMEC, the Department of Children and Family Services and other agencies to locate the missing children.

Many of the children were considered to be in challenging recovery cases, including child sex trafficking, child exploitation, sexual abuse, physical abuse and suffering from medical or mental health conditions.

Haredi minister's car attacked as violence erupts at anti-draft protest in Jerusalem
[IsraelTimes] 5 arrested during clashes with police, officer hospitalized; stones hurled at vehicles carrying United Torah Judaism party head Yitzhak Goldknopf and his predecessor Yaakov Litzman

Thousands of ultra-Orthodox demonstrators on Sunday protested in Jerusalem against the conscription of Haredi yeshiva students into the military, with some throwing rocks and clashing with police.

Five people were arrested in clashes, during which protesters also lit fires in the street and attacked the car of Housing Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf.

The demonstrators mostly belonged to the extremist Jerusalem Faction, which numbers some 60,000 members and regularly demonstrates against the enlistment of yeshiva students.

Anger has boiled as the issue of ultra-Orthodox enlistment has returned to the government’s agenda against the background of the ongoing war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Haredim are angry at their own lawmakers who, as members of the coalition, backed a recent move to revive a bill from a previous parliament that would lower the age of exemption from mandatory service for ultra-Orthodox yeshiva students from 26 to 21 and “very slowly” increase their rate of conscription.

Protesters on Sunday carried signs reading, “We will not enlist in the enemy army,” and “We will die and not enlist,” as they blocked an intersection that leads to a heavily ultra-Orthodox area in the capital.

'Consider Afghanistan, Not Donbass.' Russian Army Advances in Extreme Heat
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] The Russian army continues to advance in Donbas, pushing back the Ukrainian Armed Forces in several sections of the front. Over the past week, the Russian Armed Forces have liberated a number of settlements along the entire contact line, the Defense Ministry reported. In particular, Spornoye northeast of Bakhmut and Novooleksandrivka northwest of Avdeevka have been liberated.

At the same time, units of the Center group of forces inflicted losses on the formations of the 23rd, 47th Mechanized, 95th Airborne Assault, 59th Motorized Infantry brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 2nd National Guard Brigade, the department noted.

At the same time, Donbass has literally become a hot spot: during the day, the temperature in the region rises to 32-33 degrees, and in the coming days it will become even hotter. The unbearable heat complicates the conduct of battles and trench life for both sides, a source in the ranks of the 1st Army Corps told IA Regnum.
33°C (degree Celsius) is 91.4°F (degree Fahrenheit). Balmy.
"Imagine: a steel armored vehicle with a working engine. At the same time, the heat outside is over 30 degrees, the armor is heating up. These are extremely difficult conditions for the crew and the troops. The same in the trench. There are the most trivial moments, like bringing water to the positions, which in some cases is not so easy to do, especially at the "front line". Consider Afghanistan, not Donbass," the source says.

THE UKRAINIAN ARMED FORCES ARE READY TO RETREAT
If the heat lasts for several weeks, the steppe will dry out and start burning, which will also complicate the fighting for both sides. However, despite the difficult conditions, Russian troops continue to advance - from Avdiivka to Krasnogorovka. This direction was previously called Avdiivka, now Pokrovskoe is increasingly mentioned - by the name of the district center, which is still under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

On the northern side of the front, after the liberation of Novoalexandrivka, Russian troops are advancing in the direction of the settlement of Vozdvizhenka. Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command denied problems in this direction, but now Ukrainian sources report that the Ukrainian Armed Forces and territorial defense units have suffered heavy losses trying to recapture Novoalexandrivka. Now they have to roll back, without rotation or reinforcements.

Things are no better for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the south, in the area of the settlement of Sokol. Here, the enemy is clinging to the fortifications of the former "Poroshenko line" - the old line of defense created in 2015-2016. In fact, this is the last line of defense that the Ukrainian Armed Forces command planned to hold in the worst-case scenario. The fighting is taking place on the western outskirts of the settlement, in the direction of the village of Voskhod.

Further south, fighting continues in the area of the village of Yasnobrodovka, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to reports from the field, are also retreating. On the southern front, the Russian army managed to advance to the settlement of Karlovka.

"There is a rumor that they are essentially no longer planning to hold the front. Reserves are arriving not at the front, but at the new line of defense - this is the right bank of the Volchya River and behind the Karlovskoye Reservoir. At least, this is where everything is heading," explains a source for IA Regnum.

Urban fighting also continues in Krasnogorovka, a suburb of Donetsk that can still be used to shell the capital of the DPR. After the liberation of the city, Russian troops will enter operational space, as happened after the liberation of Avdiivka. The only solution for the Ukrainian Armed Forces command in this direction will be to retreat behind the same Volchya River.

STRIKES AT THE REAR
The advance of Russian troops in the Donetsk direction is far from the only problem for the Ukrainian Armed Forces command. Combat operations are also taking place in the area of the Toretsk agglomeration - on the outskirts of the settlement of New York. At the same time, sources maintain silence and do not comment on the advance of Russian troops.

The Ukrainian side is reporting contradictory information. On the one hand, there are panicky reports that "the Russians have broken through to the center of New York," and that fighting is taking place in the urban area. On the other hand, on the contrary, it is claimed that the situation has been stabilized by the transfer of reserves from Chasov Yar.

In general, it can be stated that a full-scale offensive by Russian troops in this area has not begun. Reconnaissance in force is being conducted to probe the enemy's defenses and find weak spots. The Russian Armed Forces are also striking at the rear of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In particular, the headquarters of the 41st Brigade in central New York came under attack.

A similar situation has developed in the area of Chasov Yar and Volchansk. Russian aviation is systematically knocking out the enemy's headquarters, warehouses and defense nodes, which is forced to throw reserves into the battle.

And on the Zaporizhzhya direction, the day before, an Iskander OTRK strike hit a train with armored vehicles at the Volnyansk station. The destroyed tanks could have been transferred to either the Pokrovsk direction or the Zaporizhzhya direction, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces, according to rumors, are preparing their offensive.

THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF SHELLS, BUT THE DEFICIT REMAINS
A year after the start of the failed counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Zaporizhia region, individual sources are increasingly reporting that Kyiv is planning a new offensive. This time without pompous statements and threats, but with air support.

Earlier, the Danish Ministry of Defense reported that the first batch of F-16 fighter maintenance technicians had completed training at European training grounds and were ready to begin their duties. The Belgian government, in turn, noted that aircraft deliveries could begin literally any day now.

However, planning an offensive relying on five to ten fighters is very strange. Moreover, the Ukrainian Armed Forces need to first resolve the issue of a shortage of shells. The West, by all appearances, is trying to stop the collapse of the front by replenishing the empty arsenals of the Ukrainian army, and is not preparing its protégés for new offensive operations.

Over the past quarter, neither the US nor its allies have announced deliveries of armored vehicles to Kyiv, as was the case on the eve of the "counteroffensive" a year ago, and it is impossible to advance without them. At the same time, in recent weeks, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have received artillery ammunition, the French newspaper Le Tribune reports.

“The supply situation has improved and continues to improve over the past month, at least in terms of 155mm artillery shells,” the publication quotes a statement from a Ukrainian Armed Forces artilleryman.

However, the Ukrainian army does not have enough ammunition for everyone, notes a source for Regnum news agency.

"They have started shooting more often, yes. But it is still clear that they are saving. In short, their shortage of shells may have ended, but a serious deficit remains. Either they are distributing shells from the Westerners in very measured doses, or they are saving for a rainy day," the agency's interlocutor sums up.

It is possible that Kyiv is leaving some of the shells in warehouses, fearing that the supply situation could worsen again in the near future and that they will have to fight "with their own forces." At the same time, the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may be hatching a plan to take revenge for the recent defeats in Donbas and try their luck in another direction.

Biden Cannot be Replaced on Ballot in Three Swing States, Except for Death or 25th Amendment
[GatewayPundit] However, it may already be too late to remove Joe Biden from the ballot. The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project is gearing up for a counter-fight should Democrats attempt to pull Biden off the top of the ticket, the Daily Mail reported.

“We are monitoring the calls from across the country for President Biden to step aside, either now or before the election, and have concluded that the process for substitution and withdrawal is very complicated. We will remain vigilant that appropriate election integrity procedures are followed,” said Mike Howell, Executive Director of The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project.

The Heritage Oversight Project has identified three swing states – Georgia, Nevada and Wisconsin – where they believe removing Biden from the Democratic ticket would prevent anyone else from replacing him.

Wisconsin does not allow withdrawal from the ballot for any reason besides death, while in Nevada, no changes can be made to the ballotafter 5 p.m. on the fourth Friday in June of an election year unless ‘a nominee dies or is adjudicated insane or mentally incompetent.’ In Georgia, if Biden were to withdraw less than 60 days before the election, his name would remain on the ballot but no votes would be counted.

#8  But how can he be on the ballott yet?

He secured enough delegates in the primary elections to become the "presumptive nominee" even though the convention has not yet taken place. They might want to rethink that but it might be too late to change in time for November 2024.

Well, you know, they wanted all those cheat-by-mail ballots all ready to go at least a month before the election and in sufficient quantities so that all the dead, moved and fictitious voters have time to cast their ballots without having to appear at a polling station, which they can't because they're dead, moved out of the state, fictitious or unable to prove that they are citizens.

I'm still hoping for a big fight at the convention that would leave the party in disarray and all butt hurt.

#10  Joe’s degraded cognition and poll numbers are real. If he drops out, I think they have to send the donations back. Joe would also have to release his delegates. A contested convention would involve every ignoramus squad member at the podium with an open mic. Resources planned for cheating would have to be redeployed towards getting the new candidate onto all the state ballots. Biden is not as popular with black voters as he was but his wing of the DNC is the Black Caucus. That’s why they moved the first primary to SC. Joe’s replacement would have to be Kamala. They are trapped in an escape room of their own making. Based on their track record, the next DNC moves will be to bribe Jill with a Senate seat, promise Kamala Sotomayor’s robe, and enlist Michele with Hillary as VP.

'Zelensky's Curse' Hasn't Worked Yet. Kenyan President Defeats Afromaidan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Viktor Vasiliev

[Regnum] On June 25, the world's leading media outlets were filled with footage of Kenyan protesters storming the parliament, and today the protests are already becoming segmented and sluggish. One can see the protests dying down as suddenly as they first appeared. However, this is only at first glance. The fate of the financial law, which has provoked such fierce resistance from society and especially from young people, has not yet been decided - parliament will return to its consideration after the holiday season, on July 23. Moreover, the “spontaneous” protests in Nairobi and other major cities in Kenya have too many markers that suggest a subtle technological game and the presence of an interested party.

Deadly Summer. No Breakthrough in War Expected
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent]
  • Vladimir Putin hopes to win in Ukraine through long-term, creeping offensive operations, according to the Institute for the Study of War

  • Ukraine and Russia are facing a “deadly summer” in which thousands of people could die, but neither side will be able to achieve a decisive breakthrough, according to an article in The Wall Street Journal

PRESSURE FROM RUSSIA

It is noted that the main task of the Ukrainian Defense Forces now is to hold positions using Western weapons. An unnamed senior Ukrainian security official said that Russia will most likely continue to sacrifice large numbers of soldiers for small gains. In addition, he claims that the aggressor country does not have enough troops for a major offensive on Kharkov, since moving forces there will weaken other parts of the front.

WSJ writes that both sides are trying to strike deep to gain an advantage before winter. Thus, Russia is striking at Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the defensive positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, Ukraine is attacking the temporarily occupied Crimea with long-range missiles.

“While Russia is still making some gains on the battlefield, it appears that the Ukrainians are doing a pretty good job of strategically striking and moving and holding their own,” said a senior U.S. defense official, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Russian army has reportedly been able to compensate for its losses by replenishing its personnel, but the occupiers' progress is now slow and predictable.

The WSJ noted that for Ukrainian strategists and Western advisers, it remains an uncertain question whether Russia will attempt a large-scale offensive in the summer.

PUTIN'S TACTICS
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War believe that Vladimir Putin’s theory of victory assumes that Russian forces will be able to continue a gradual, creeping advance indefinitely, preventing Ukraine from mounting successful counteroffensives, and ultimately winning a war of attrition against Ukrainian forces. The Russian military has so far favored successive offensives that yield incremental tactical gains rather than large, rapid maneuver offensives aimed at achieving significant operational gains, ISW says. It suggests that Putin and the Russian military’s leadership likely view this approach as a greater guarantee of success in Ukraine than large, mobile offensives. They also appear to acknowledge the reality that Russian forces will likely have to march toward individual operational objectives (such as capturing strategically important cities) for months, if not years.

Putin probably hopes that the slow advance of his forces in Ukraine, which could last for months if not years, will convince the West that military victory over Russia is impossible and that losing some territory is preferable to the complete defeat of Ukraine.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 1, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 20:19 Ukraine has transferred two more priests of the UOC MP to Russia as part of a prisoner exchange: Nikolai Zakroets and Alexander Lunegov, Russian Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova reported. Lunegov was a cleric of the Dnipropetrovsk diocese and was sentenced to five years on charges of justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine. Zakroets was the rector of the St. George Church of the UOC MP in Yampil, Sumy Oblast. In October 2023, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison on suspicion of treason.

20:14 Zelensky said in an evening video address that today he heard a report from the military on key front lines - Pokrovsk and others in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. They also discussed some fundamental decisions to increase Russia's losses. "For Russia, all this must end in defeat, and only in this way does the very idea of war against Ukraine lose. We are doing everything for this, both with weapons and diplomacy. The relevant processes are going side by side," the president added.

In addition, the head of state said that today he held several meetings with international experts, discussed plans for July. "And this month can bring Ukraine even more strength, including in protecting the sky and bringing real security closer to our country," Zelensky announced. He also met with a bipartisan delegation of the US House of Representatives, discussed the main areas of further American assistance, including additional air defense systems.

18:46 Since the launch of the Grain from Ukraine humanitarian program, Ukraine has sent 221.4 thousand tons of agricultural products to ten countries in Africa and Asia, the Presidential Office reported. At the same time, some of the food is purchased by the states participating in the project - in this way, international partners support the Ukrainian economy and simultaneously improve the food situation in the world. Now Ukraine plans to expand the program to other regions of the world: possible deliveries to Haiti, Chad, Cameroon, Tanzania, Djibouti and other countries are already being discussed.

18:24 On Tuesday, July 2, regional power companies will be using three stages of shutdowns simultaneously throughout the day, Ukrenergo reported. The reason is a significant increase in energy consumption due to the heat.

Chairman of the Board of NEC Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudritsky explained that the increase in the duration of outages over the past few days was influenced by four factors at once: ongoing shelling, increased consumption due to high temperatures in Ukraine, reduced imports due to heat in Europe, and the summer repair campaign at a large number of power plants.

18:14 The first burials at the National War Memorial Cemetery may begin as early as early or mid-autumn 2024, said the head of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, Alexander Porkhun. "The first burials will 100% take place this year. But we will speed up these deadlines, and I think that by early autumn, by mid-autumn, we will begin burying our soldiers," he noted.

At the same time, Porkhun added that discussions with residents of the village of Markhalovka, Gatnenskaya territorial community, who oppose the construction of a memorial cemetery, are still ongoing.

17:37 NATO countries are passing on information to Ukraine that is collected by aircraft with AWACS early warning systems, writes UK Defence Journal. Airborne early warning aircraft monitor the situation in Ukrainian airspace during regular flights over Poland. This allows Ukraine to quickly respond to missile threats.

16:41 In June, Russian troops shelled Kharkiv 22 times, the city council reported. In particular, the Russians launched 19 UMBP D-30 guided bombs, one missile and seven aerial bombs, including the super-powerful KAB-250 and FAB-500, at the city. Six people were killed and 92 were injured in Kharkiv last month.

15:55 Ukraine is indeed strengthening the section of the border with Belarus, as Minsk has stated, said State Border Service spokesman Andrei Demchenko: "The border with Belarus remains a threatening direction for us, and we continue to strengthen it both in engineering terms and to keep the necessary number of forces and resources there to prevent any actions that may come from the territory of Belarus." At the same time, he called Minsk's statements an "information operation" and recalled that they are not the first time they have been heard.

According to Demchenko, Minsk has been testing the combat readiness of its military units since June 21, so this could be "one of the components to shift responsibility to Ukraine."

14:48 In the Budget Declaration for 2025-2027, the Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 2.2 trillion for security and defense in 2025, UAH 1.6 trillion for 2026, and UAH 1.5 trillion for 2027, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported. The government also expects GDP growth in 2025 by 2.7% (compared to 4.6% this year), in 2026 by 7.5%, and in 2027 by 6.2%. The government cites the destruction of Ukraine's energy capacity as the main constraint on economic development.

14:13 Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania have launched a mine-clearing operation in the Black Sea to defuse drifting mines, Bloomberg writes. Despite the fact that the mines will be cleared by military ships, the operation will be exclusively peaceful. The threat will be eliminated in the territorial waters and economic zones of the participating countries, which should make shipping safer. This will also help ships carrying grain from Ukraine.

13:36 Russian troops attacked a house in Antonovka, Kherson region, with artillery, one person was injured, the OVA reported. In addition, three people who were hit by enemy strikes the day before - near the village of Veletenske and in the village of Razliv - sought medical assistance today. Also in the morning, the Russians attacked Mykhailivka, Berislav district - a first aid station and a private house were damaged, no one was injured.

12:57 The Washington Post has obtained internal documents from the Belgorod region authorities that show that glider bombs launched by Russian troops into Ukraine have fallen on Russian territory. According to the document, at least 38 bombs fell in the Belgorod region between April 2023 and April 2024, most of which failed to explode. Meanwhile, the Russian opposition publication Astra calculated that in March, April, May, and June 2024 alone, the Russian Aerospace Forces dropped at least 119 bombs on their own and occupied Ukrainian territories.

12:19 The Clooney Foundation for Justice and the Austrian human rights organization International Center for the Strengthening of Human Rights have filed a case with the Vienna prosecutor's office regarding the rape of two Ukrainian women by Russians during the occupation of the Kiev region in 2022. Experts have collected evidence and identified the direct perpetrators of the crimes, as well as seven mid- and high-level commanders, and are asking for an investigation to be launched into them.

11:26 On Sunday, June 30, at about 19:30, Russia attacked Kiev with two Iskander-K cruise missiles, Air Force spokesman Ilya Yevlash reported. According to him, the missiles were shot down, but the falling debris damaged infrastructure.

11:10 In the morning, Russians shelled Ukrainsk in Donetsk Oblast - at least two people were killed and eight were wounded. According to preliminary information, ten multi-story buildings and an administrative building were damaged, said OVA head Vadim Filashkin. On June 30, two people were killed as a result of Russian shelling in Donetsk Oblast - in Toretsk and Seversky. Another 12 people were wounded in the region in the past 24 hours, including six in Tsukurino in Pokrovsky District.

10:58 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that the Russians have made significant progress in one of the hottest areas - Toretsk. According to analysts, Russian troops have advanced up to 2.6 km deep and up to 5.6 km wide, without encountering strong resistance during the offensive on Pivdenne. Russian publics write that Russian troops have dug a tunnel, which allowed them to transfer a significant number of troops to Toretsk with virtually no losses. Russian troops dug a similar tunnel in February near Avdiivka, using ready-made engineering communications. This played a key role in capturing the city.

10:33 The SBU reported that it had detained a group of provocateurs who were preparing riots in Kiev and the seizure of the Verkhovna Rada building after Constitution Day. Under the guise of holding a so-called "veche," the perpetrators planned to announce the "removal from power" of the current military-political leadership of Ukraine. Those detained face up to ten years in prison.

09:50 Traffic lights are not working in Belgorod, there are problems with electricity and the Internet, Russian media write. Belgorodenergo stated that the problems are related to "external technological influence", power engineers are switching electricity supply to consumers to backup circuits.

As a result of the shelling, eight Nova Poshta trucks were on fire, three production and warehouse buildings and a medical facility were damaged.

Government Corruption
Ex-commish of NY state addiction agency busted for DUI after crashing into parked cars, urinating on self: DA
[NYPOST] The ex-head of the state’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports was busted in Queens for drunken driving last week — and allegedly was so plastered that she slammed into parked cars and urinated on herself.

Arlene González-Sánchez, 68, had a blood-alcohol content of .20 — or two and a half times the legal limit of .08 — and at one point she uttered to the cop who pulled her over, "Commissioner," the Queens District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

The former commissioner — who left her top job in 2021 after 10 years — was arraigned Saturday for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, leaving the scene of an accident and other charges after her Friday night arrest, which happened in the quiet neighborhood of Auburndale, the DA’s office said.

In the criminal complaint, NYPD Officer Christopher Machalek wrote that he heard a loud crash near the intersection of 50th Avenue and Weeks Lane about 10:15 p.m. — just before he noticed several parked cars with badly damaged bumpers.

The US is holding the whole world in its fist with its problems, the situation is stalemate
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The world has reached a stalemate with the US national debt. This opinion was expressed to a Regnum News Agency correspondent on July 1 by Yuri Tverdokhleb, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Finance and Banking at RANEPA, commenting on the opinion of analysts William Ruger and Thomas Savage. In an article for the American magazine The National Interest, they suggested that an increase in budget expenditures and national debt could lead to serious problems in the US economy, which would directly affect the country's defense capability.

In January, the US Treasury reported that the national debt had exceeded $34 trillion, increasing by $4 trillion during 2023.
Tverdokhleb agreed that the national debt is a serious problem for the US economy. He noted that the approaches to managing the foreign debt of US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump differ greatly. Thus, during the recent debates, Trump proposed reducing the US debt by stimulating aggregate demand and production through tax reform and reducing the tax burden, including on large businesses. In his opinion, this could lead to economic revival and income growth due to increased production activity. These proposals of Trump are more rational and reasonable, the economist believes.

The Last Days of 'Macronism': Elections Show How Deeply France Has Changed
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

[REGNUM] The dissolution of parliament, intended by French President Emmanuel Macron as a way to shore up his shaky position, has proved disastrous for him and his supporters. The president has been outflanked by his opponents. There are rumours in political circles that he might resign. During the short election campaign for members of the National Assembly, the profound socio-cultural changes that have taken place in French society over the past 20–30 years were revealed.

Gwoza Bombings 'An Error We Didn't See Coming,' Says Borno Govt
[CHANNELSTV] The Borno State Government has expressed shock over the multiple bombings in the Gwoza area of the state which led to several deaths and injuries.

"It is not an intelligence failure. It is an error that we did not see coming," the Borno State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security Usman Tar said on Monday’s edition of Channels Television’s breakfast show Sunrise Daily, days after the multiple explosions.

Scores of persons died in the string of bombings one of which happened during a wedding celebration in the North-Eastern state. Several others were also maimed in the Saturday attacks, emergency authorities said.

According to the commissioner, the attackers may have exploited the state’s mostly non-existent borders to carry out the bombings.

"If forces of Evil want to attack and they use a particular route that you don’t know, what can you do? As you know our boundaries are porous that is internationally. Even our local boundaries are porous," Usman said.

"If forces of Evil want to attack, they do it using the frontlines. That was what probably happened."

’BLACK SATURDAY’
But a community leader in Borno Ayuba Bassa has faulted the government and security authorities for not doing much to tackle insurgency. He said there were signs of such attacks coming but nothing was done to avert it.

He now wants the authorities to depart from rhetorics and said about 30 women to carry out the multiple bombings.

"We cannot trust the Army, we cannot trust the civilian JTF or anybody who stands in the name of politics that is willing to fight for these people anymore.

"It was really a black Saturday. It has affected Gwoza to the blood. What happened was the infiltration of trained women including a teenager as jacket wallahs. They were able to come and carry out the mission. We have learned that they were above 30 who were trained to do that but a few of them succeeded," Bassa who is the National Coordinator of the Gwoza Christian Community Association said.

"If the IDP camps are not dismissed, they will continue to be breeding grounds for more Boko Haram

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Man shot and hospitalized after brawls break out after Pride Parade
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A man was shot and hospitalized after a violent brawl broke out at Washington Square Park during New York City's Pride Parade.

The 20-year-old is now recovering from multiple gunshot wounds following the shooting as police dashed to the scene to break up the intense fighting that began in the early hours of Monday morning.

Both 5th Avenue and East 8th Street in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, were shut down just after 2am, with bullet markers visible on the ground.

Cops swarmed the area as they worked to piece together just what went wrong at the march, and who was responsible for firing the shots that left the unnamed man wounded in his buttocks and right hand.

'The first one, I was running. I heard two, but I didn't know if it was a shot or not, I thought it was like a firework or something because it's Pride, you know,' one witness told ABC7.

The victim was dashed to a local hospital, with police continuing their hunt for the gunman.

Footage from the weekend's Pride celebrations showed multiple fights breaking out late on Sunday and into Monday morning, as massive crowds of unruly revelers turned up to take part in the festivities.

Some 22 people were arrested during Pride and the disastrous aftermath - with 16 people receiving desk appearances and release, while six remain in custody with charges pending.

'This is really crazy, Pride is not supposed to be like this,' a witness told the news outlet.

'We're supposed to come out and enjoy and you know just love one another and come together. And we hope moving forward there will be no more violence and craziness going on.'

Video from the jaw-dropping scenes shows large groups of partygoers embroiled in fist-fights and hair-pulling battles as they tackled each other to the ground.

Crowds gathered around to watch the chaos unfold, while others pulled out their phones to record the Lower Manhattan showdowns.

Shards of smashed glass could be seen littered across the ground where people walked barefoot after having their shoes ripped off during fights.

But before the violence took over the celebrations, separate footage captured multiple women twerking on top of a whit vehicle and one person grinding against a light pole he had climbed to the top of.

As nighttime crept in, the NYPD played a loudspeaker recording declaring Washington Square Park's closure and ordered revelers to leave the site - causing a stir between cops and rowdy partygoers.

It was not immediately clear if any arrests took place as a result of the fighting.

42 lashes for having a drink: Men are brutally caned for consuming alcohol and breaking Sharia law
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Three men have been brutally caned 42 times today for consuming alcohol and breaking Sharia law on the Indonesian island of Sumatra.

Pictures showed an intimidating executor, or 'algojo', gripping a rattan before carrying out the public caning against four men in front of Islamic court officials.

Dressed in brown robes, the algojo struck the backs of the convicts with the wooden cane in the centre of a white, tiled room.

Two of the convicts were seen dressed in white tunics, while the other two wore red tops printed with the name of the district attorney's office.

They were led into the middle of the room to sit on a blue rug, their heads bowed, before each taking their turn to receive their respective punishments.

Banda Aceh is the capital and largest city in the Indonesian province of Aceh, and is located on the island of Sumatra - home to the Acehnese people.

Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that has implemented Sharia law and considers gambling, alcohol, lesbian, gay and bisexual relationships and sex outside of marriage as violations of the law.

Punishments for breaking the draconian laws include caning, fines, and imprisonment. In 2009, there was a legal push to also allow stoning, but this was vetoed by the governor of Aceh at the time.

The four Acehnese men received 19 to 42 lashes for drinking alcohol, known as 'khamar' in sharia law. A police officer with a microphone oversaw the punishments.

The three men to receive the 42 lashes were named in local press as M. Fais Akbar, Aulia Syahputra, and Yusdi, while Cukri Ramadhan received 19.

Before the punishment was out, all men underwent a health check by a team of medics. They were all deemed ready to serve their sentence.
When they were dosed with pain killers.
The executing prosecutor then called the convicts into the middle of the room one by one, where the caning sentence was carried out.

Kompas reported that the caning was paused for one of the men after he groaned in pain after 10 lashes. He was given something to drink by the medics, who also checked on his condition, before the punishment continued.
His dose was adjusted.
'Today, the execution of the caning sentence for four people convicted of violating khamar or being drunk has been completed,' said the Head of the Banda Aceh District Prosecutor's Office after the process.

Supporters of the Islamic criminal law argue that such punishments are legal under the special autonomy that is granted to Aceh.

Amnesty International, which has urged the region to stop the practice of caning gay men, said 108 canings were carried out in 2015 and 100 in 2016.

It said that sharia law applied to non-Muslims for the first time in 2016 when a Christian woman was sentenced to 28 strokes for selling alcohol.

In 2022 it was reported that a woman had received 100 lashes for adultery, while the man she had the affair with only received 15 lashes.

Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon says the 'Maga army' is revved up and ready to secure a second term
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Longtime Trump ally Steve Bannon
…a busy man, he started out in the US Navy, made his nut in investment banking, then while executive producing films for Hollywood he cofounded Breitbart, which he stepped away from to manage Donald Trump’s2016 presidential campaign. He did other things in between, but those are the highlights…
says the 'MAGA army' is working to secure the ex-President's victory over Joe Biden and his return to the White House.

Bannon is scheduled to report to a federal prison in Connecticut today to serve a four-month sentence
just until the election is over
on contempt charges for defying a subpoena in the congressional investigation into the January 6 insurrection at the US Capitol.

The former White House chief strategist says he is not concerned about serving time during the crucial stages of Donald Trump's campaign, telling the BBC that the Republican's supporter's 'can't and won't stop until final victory'.

He also implied that he will continue to help Trump's campaign while he serves his sentence, though it is not clear how he plans to do so behind bars.

'I've served my country now for the last 10 or so years focusing on this,' Bannon told the broadcaster of the MAGA movement. 'If I have to do it in a prison, I do it in a prison - it makes no difference at all.'

Bannon, in an interview with the BBC, said 'I'm ready to go' and 'I'm all set up' as he prepares to serve his prison sentence.

He intends to broadcast a final episode of his War Room TV show and podcast - which he describes as a 'military command centre for MAGA' - from outside the prison gates today before turning himself into authorities.

Bannon reiterated that his show will remain on the air while he serves his sentence, alleging he has arranged for other hosts to present the program alongside his regular contributors.

He remains confident that Trump will be re-elected in November and said he is sure the GOP candidate from 'day one' will work to 'stop the invasion' of the US border and start the 'mass deportation of 10 to 15 million illegal alien invaders'.

He claims the former President will then focus on the economy, retaining the tax cuts from his first term which largely benefited corporations and wealthy individuals.

Bannon claimed Trump would then end the 'forever wars' in Ukraine and Gaza, but did not explain how he would do so.

He also shared that a second Trump administration would target the former President's political enemies, especially those who were involved in the criminal proceedings against Trump.

Additionally, Bannon argued that it is 'impossible' for Biden to win re-election in November and warned that neither he nor the 'MAGA army' would accept the results if he did.

The remark comes after he recently told a revved-up crowd of Trump supporters the the upcoming election will result in 'victory or death'

Politico: Biden family privately criticizes top advisers, seeks their removal at Camp David meeting
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Biden family privately criticizes top advisers, seeks their removal at Camp David meeting": The US president's family makes decisions for him, and they won't let him retire.

"Joe Biden's family members privately trashed his top campaign advisers at Camp David this week.weekend, blaming them for the president’s disastrous performance in Thursday’s debate and calling on Biden to fire or demote members of his top political staff.

✔Among the family’s complaints about the debates is that he was overworked and poorly rested. Biden’s family, sources say, wants the president to continue campaigning rather than end his career with a disastrous debate performance against Trump, whom they all hate. First lady Jill Biden and his son Hunter Biden have been the loudest in calling for the president to stay in the 2024 election.

✔And the Biden campaign has only grown more angry with CNN over the debates, according to several sources. Their complaints are long, including that Biden was not told which camera to look at when he wasn’t speaking and that makeup artists made him look too pale.

✔Biden often consults with his family on big decisions, and those close to him say the only way he’ll ever come to the conclusion about dropping out of the race is if the first lady and members of his family give the go-ahead.

✔At a fundraiser in Greenwich Village, the first lady said the president came to her after the debate and said, "Jill, I don't know what happened. I wasn't feeling so good." "And I said, 'Look, Joe, we're not going to let 90 minutes define the four years you've been president,'" she said.

Whistleblower Archbishop Viganò Refuses Vatican Summons
[Breitbart] Former Vatican emissary Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano has refused to obey a summons to the Vatican to face charges of schism, restating he does not recognize Pope Francis as the head of the Catholic Church.

“As I stated in my Communiqué of June 20, I do not recognize the authority of the tribunal that claims to judge me, nor of its Prefect, nor of the one who appointed him,” Archbishop Viganò said in a statement.

“This decision of mine, which is certainly painful, is not the result of haste or a spirit of rebellion; but rather is dictated by the moral necessity which, as Bishop and Successor of the Apostles, obliges me in conscience to bear witness to the Truth, that is, to God Himself, to Our Lord Jesus Christ,” he declared.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Archbishop Viganò as Apostolic Nuncio to the United States in 2011 and the archbishop served in this role for five years, from 2011 to 2016.

Viganò became something of a conservative superstar in 2018, when he published an explosive report accusing Pope Francis of reinstating homosexual abuser Cardinal Theodore McCarrick to a position of prominence despite knowing of McCarrick’s serial abuse.

In his 11-page affidavit, Archbishop Viganò asserted that Pope Benedict had imposed “canonical sanctions” on Cardinal McCarrick in 2009-2010 forbidding him from traveling, celebrating Mass in public, or participating in public meetings, but that Pope Francis later lifted these sanctions and made McCarrick a close personal advisor.

“Francis is abdicating the mandate which Christ gave to Peter to confirm the brethren. Indeed, by his action he has divided them, led them into error, and encouraged the wolves to continue to tear apart the sheep of Christ’s flock,” Viganò stated, before calling on the pope to resign.

“In this extremely dramatic moment for the universal Church, he must acknowledge his mistakes and, in keeping with the proclaimed principle of zero tolerance, Pope Francis must be the first to set a good example for cardinals and bishops who covered up McCarrick’s abuses and resign along with all of them,” the archbishop said.

Over the intervening years, Viganò has continued making ever more incendiary claims, leading many of his former admirers to part ways with him. He has not only rejected the authority of Pope Francis, but has also refused to accept the validity of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), an important ecumenical council highly commended by Saint John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI.

In June, the Vatican’s doctrinal office, headed by Argentinean Cardinal Víctor “Tucho” Fernández, ordered the former Vatican diplomat to appear in Rome to undergo an extrajudicial penal trial for the crime of schism for having denied the legitimacy of Pope Francis and Vatican II.

The Code of Canon Law defines “schism” as “the withdrawal of submission to the Supreme Pontiff or from communion with the members of the Church subject to him,” declaring that a schismatic “incurs a latae sententiae [automatic] excommunication.”

“I face this trial with the determination that comes from knowing that I have no reason to consider myself separate from communion with the Holy Church and with the Papacy, which I have always served with filial devotion and fidelity,” Viganò wrote in response.

“I could not conceive of a single moment of my life outside this one Ark of salvation, which Providence has constituted as the Mystical Body of Christ, in submission to its Divine Head and to His Vicar on earth,” he added.

Since it is not “theologically tenable” that the Church and the papacy are instruments of perdition rather than of salvation, he said, we must necessarily “conclude that the heterodox teachings conveyed by the so-called ‘conciliar church’ and the ‘popes of the Council’ from Paul VI onwards constitute an anomaly that seriously calls into question the legitimacy of their magisterial and governing authority.”

Rioting leftists besiege French capital after populist National Rally party victory
Y'don't suppose that sort of nonsense might be why they won?
[NYPOST] The streets of Gay Paree became a war zone overnight Sunday as tens of thousands of left-wing rioters erupted into the streets in fiery
...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob...
opposition to the historic election victory by the country’s right-wing National Rally (NR).

Rioters smashed storefront windows, vandalized monuments and set massive bonfires in public squares after the election results revealed the party, headed by nationalist Marine Le Pen, took 33% of the vote in the decisive first round of La Belle France’s legislative elections.

Stunning video spread widely online showed mass groups of demonstrators clashing with cops, launching fireworks that at times bathed city streets in an eerie blood-red glow.
Could have been a PRIDE parade.
Plumes of tear gas smoke wafted throughout the crowds as they battled it out in the streets with riot-gear clad coppers, the wild melee punctuated by the sounds of coughing and shattering glass.

A united bloc of left-leaning parties called the New Popular Front coalition nabbed 28% of the vote for a second-place finish, while incumbent President Emmanuel Macron’s centrist party scraped together just 20% of the vote.

The dead-last finish marked a stinging defeat for Macron, who called for the snap runoff election the day after his party was defeated by NR in June’s parliamentary elections as a Hail Mary attempt to thwart the NR’s continued rise.

But the ascent of right-of-center party in a free and fair election proved too much for many Gay Paree youths to bear, who directed their anger toward vandalizing their own city’s landmarks and businesses.

Much like the US, La Belle France has been beset by an overwhelming influx of migrants colonists in recent years. Le Pen’s promise to crack down on illegal immigration as a major campaign platform has clearly resonated with a wide swath of the nation’s electorate.

IDF tells Gazans to evacuate some Khan Younis neighborhoods in wake of rocket attack
[IsraelTimes] Signaling fresh offensive, army publishes list of areas in southern Gaza city whose residents should leave for their safety; troops find, destroy major Islamic Jihad rocket factory

The Israeli military on Monday called on Paleostinians in eastern neighborhoods of Khan Younis to evacuate the area and head toward the designated "humanitarian zone," likely preceding a renewed ground offensive in the southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. The Israel Defense Forces pulled out of Khan Younis in April after operating there for four months, similar to its withdrawal from the northern Gaza Strip earlier in the campaign against Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
. The IDF has since returned to those areas to carry out smaller, localized operations, and looks set to repeat this in the southern city.

Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, published a list of the zones that need to be evacuated alongside the announcement, including the Khan Younis suburbs of al-Qarara and Bani Suheila, the Abasan neighborhoods, the town of Khuza’a, and several other areas.

The move came after the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
terror group fired a barrage of at least 20 rockets from the Khan Younis area at Israeli border communities, in the largest volley in at least seven months.

"Fear and extreme anxiety have gripped people after the evacuation order," said Bani Suhaila resident Ahmad Najjar. "There is a large displacement of residents."

He served as President of the Socialist International from 1999 to 2005. In both a 2012 and 2014 poll, the Portuguese public ranked him as the best Prime Minister of the previous 30 years...
’s front man said "it just shows yet again, that no place is safe in Gaza, more efforts need to be made to protect civilians."

Further south in the city of Rafah, Islamic Jihad’s largest rocket manufacturing site found to date was located and demolished, the military said.

The IDF said troops of the Commando Brigade, 401st Armored Brigade, and elite Yahalom combat engineering unit raided an Islamic Jihad compound and underground site in Rafah’s northwestern Tel Sultan neighborhood, where they found a subterranean facility used by the Hamas ally to manufacture rocket parts and long-range rockets. According to the IDF, the facility was used to build hundreds of projectiles in recent years. During the raid on the site, the IDF said the commandos and elite combat engineers battled button men above and below ground, killing several operatives using drones and guided missiles.

In central Gaza, the military said troops recently located and destroyed a kilometer-long tunnel in the Netzarim Corridor area where the IDF controls an East-West strip that divides the territory in two. The IDF said the tunnel — located by troops serving under the 99th Division — included several branching paths that were used by terror operatives to move around the area. The tunnel was blown up by troops of the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit.

Also in the Netzarim Corridor, the 99th Division’s forces — the Alexandroni Reserve Infantry Brigade and 8th Reserve Armored Brigade — killed dozens of button men and destroyed more than 100 sites belonging to terror groups in the past two months — since being deployed there — according to the military. The IDF said the sites included weapon depots, observation posts, rocket launching sites and tunnels.

The army also said a recent Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
was carried out against a mosque that was used by button men as a staging ground, and that it identified secondary blasts following the attack, indicating the site was used to store weapons.

The Netzarim Corridor, built around a road south of Gaza City, enables the IDF to carry out raids in northern and central Gaza while allowing Israel to control access to the north for Paleostinians seeking to return after fleeing south. It also enables Israel to coordinate deliveries of humanitarian aid directly to northern Gaza.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meanwhile asserted Monday that Israel was "progressing toward the end of the phase of eliminating Hamas’s terror army."

"There will be a continuation in order to strike the remnants," Netanyahu told students from the National Defense College, pledging that Israel will achieve all its war aims.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says close to 38,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 15,000 combatants in battle and some 1,000 murderous Moslems inside Israel during the October 7 attack.
Despite all the reports about IDF kill counts, the official number hasn’t changed in ages, in contrast to Hamas’s ever-increasing official toll of imaginary deaths.
319 troops have been killed during the ground offensive against Hamas and amid operations along the Gaza border. The toll includes a police officer killed in a hostage rescue mission. A civilian Defense Ministry contractor has also been killed in the Strip.

It is believed that 116 hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza — not all of them alive — after 105 civilians were released from Hamas captivity during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released prior to that. Seven hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 19 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the military.

The IDF has confirmed the deaths of 42 of those still held by Hamas, citing new intelligence and findings obtained by troops operating in Gaza.

One more person is listed as missing since October 7, and their fate is still unknown.

Hamas is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.

Head of Kakhovka District Accuses Kyiv of Hush-Up Cholera Epidemic
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

100 percent preventable. 100 percent curable.

[Regnum] Ukrainian authorities are trying to hide from the public the situation with the cholera epidemic in Kyiv-controlled Kherson, the head of the Kakhovka municipal district Pavlo Filipchuk said on July 1 in his Telegram channel.

According to him, at least two more people died from this disease on the right bank of the Dnieper.

"Cholera continues to kill Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen. It can't be stopped - it can't be hidden. But Kiev continues to pretend that nothing is happening," he wrote.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 21, the pro-Russian underground in Kherson reported an outbreak of cholera in the city. According to the underground, there were about 100 people in hospitals, mostly military personnel, and at least 12 people died from the disease.

On June 27, the press secretary of the governor of the Kherson region, Volodymyr Vasylenko, said that the Ukrainian authorities are trying to hide the outbreak of cholera in Kherson, temporarily occupied by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, disguising it as typhus. He specified that they are not informing the population about the disease, and wells with clean water on the right bank of the Dnieper are not being serviced due to the lack of electricity.

According to the governor of the Kherson region Volodymyr Saldo, the outbreak of cholera on the right bank of the Dnieper occurred due to flooding after the Kiev regime blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station and ignored sanitary norms there. He noted that on the left bank, the Russian authorities carried out a huge range of work to disinfect and sanitize the area, while in the part of the region occupied by Kiev, no one did anything in this direction.

#1  Ukrainian authorities are trying to hide the outbreak of cholera in Kherson, ..., disguising it as typhus.

Trying to pass off a disease caused by contaminated water as an epidemic disease caused by fleas and lice? Y'all need a better marketing department!

In the olden days, it used to be that in a war more people died of disease than combat. Likely modern medicine has changed that to a degree, but the old problems don't go away. Also, precision munitions mean we don't carpet bomb cities anymore, something which had a deleterious effect on infrastructure.

House Judiciary sues Garland for Biden audio that Hur says shows him as 'elderly man with a poor memory'
[FoxNews] Lawsuit comes amid chaos in the Democratic Party as leaders consider whether President Biden should continue with his re-election campaign

The House Judiciary Committee is suing Attorney General Merrick Garland to obtain recordings of President Biden’s interview with special counsel Robert Hur.

The committee, as part of the lawsuit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, stressed the importance of the "verbal and nonverbal context" of Biden's answers that could be provided by the audio recordings – especially considering that Hur opted against charging Biden after the interview, in part, because he was viewed as "a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory."

The lawsuit comes amid chaos in the Democratic Party as leaders consider whether Biden should continue with his re-election campaign after the president’s widely panned debate performance last week.

The committee, in its lawsuit, says the president’s invocation of executive privilege over the materials "lacks any merit," and it asks the court to overrule that assertion of privilege.

"This dispute is about a frivolous assertion of executive privilege," the lawsuit states.

As part of the House impeachment inquiry against the president, the committee issued a subpoena to Garland to obtain records related to Hur’s investigation of Biden’s alleged mishandling of classified records. The committee sought materials related to Hur’s interviews with Biden and Mark Zwonitzer, the ghostwriter of Biden’s 2017 memoir.

The Justice Department has provided the committee with transcripts of those interviews, but Garland "has refused to produce the audio recordings of the Special Counsel’s interviews with President Biden and Mr. Zwonitzer."

"Instead, Attorney General Garland asked that President Biden assert executive privilege over those recordings, and President Biden complied with that request," the lawsuit states.

The committee argues that audio recordings "are better evidence than transcripts of what happened during the Special Counsel’s interviews with President Biden and Mr. Zwonitzer."

"For example, they contain verbal and nonverbal context that is missing from a cold transcript," the committee states. "That verbal and nonverbal context is quite important here because the Special Counsel relied on the way that President Biden presented himself during their interview – ‘as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory’ – when ultimately recommending that President Biden should not be prosecuted for unlawfully retaining and disclosing classified information."

Muftiate of Dagestan will issue a fatwa banning the niqab in the republic
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The spiritual leader of the Muslims of Dagestan, Akhmad Abdullayev, said that a fatwa (theological and legal opinion) on the ban of the niqab in the republic will be issued in the near future.

“The niqab – our workers are working on this today – we will issue a fatwa banning the niqab,” Abdullayev said at a meeting between the head of the republic, Sergei Melikov, and activists.

According to the spiritual leader, the fatwa will be issued this evening or tomorrow, July 2. Abdullayev emphasized that if a man does not want to show his wife's face, then he should keep her at home. At the same time, the lifting of the ban on the niqab is not planned until there is peace and tranquility in the region, the spiritual leader noted.

Niqab is a type of hijab with a slit for the eyes. The face of a woman wearing a niqab is not visible.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the day before, the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that wearing niqabs in Russia should be banned. He asked why the niqab is banned in Asia, but not in Russia.

Before this, presidential adviser and chairman of the Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights Valery Fadeyev proposed banning the wearing of the niqab in Russia on May 19. He recalled that this type of clothing is prohibited in a number of Central Asian countries. Banning the niqab is necessary to reduce the risk of extremism, he explained.

In response, the deputy chairman of the Spiritual Directorate of Muslims of Russia, the mufti of Moscow, Ildar Alyautdinov, said on May 22 that the ban on the niqab may not please the countries of the East, with which Moscow is strengthening relations. At the same time, he referred to freedom of religion and observance of religious canons.

This statement caused controversy among representatives of the Muslim community. On the Islam. news portal, the author Aidar Bariyev recalled that the niqab has nothing to do with religion, while clothing that covers the face makes it difficult to identify a person. He recalled that wearing a niqab is a custom associated with the need to protect the face from sandstorms in the desert. In Russia, there is no need to wear such clothing.

On June 11, State Duma deputy Mikhail Matveyev (CPRF faction) announced that he had sent a bill to the government to ban niqabs in the country. He called it a matter of Russia's security.

On June 20, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon signed laws banning the import, sale, and wearing of clothing in the republic that is alien to the culture of the people. Thus, hijabs were banned. The head of the republic ordered the development of a design for national clothing that adheres to the religious and ethical needs of Tajik women.

Houthis claim missile attacks on four British, Israeli and US ships
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Houthis from the rebel movement Ansar Allah in Yemen attacked four ships that they believe are linked to the United States, Britain and Israel, the movement's military spokesman Yahya Saria told TV.

The container ship MSC Unific, the liquid chemical tankers Delonix and Lucky Sailor, and the support vessel Anvil Point were attacked at sea.

The ships were attacked with cruise missiles. At the time of the attack, the container ship MSC Unific was in the Arabian Sea, the tanker Delonix was in the Red Sea, the tanker Lucky Sailor was in the Mediterranean Sea, and the ship Anvil Point was in the Indian Ocean.

Saria added that Delonix was hit for the second time in the past week.

As reported by Regnum news agency, on June 28, the Houthis also attacked four commercial vessels in the Red and Mediterranean Seas.

On June 26, Yahya Saria said that the Houthis had attacked the Israeli ship MSC SARAH V in the Arabian Sea with a hypersonic missile for the first time.

The following day, the Houthis attacked the Israeli city of Haifa and the Seajoy ship in the Red Sea using drones, missiles and an unmanned boat.
Update from the Times of Israel at 12:10 p.m. ET:
Reuters was not immediately able to verify the claims.

Jocelyn Nungaray, 12, was sexually assaulted before she was allegedly murdered by 2 illegal migrants
[NYPOST] Little Jocelyn Nungaray had been sexually assaulted before she was allegedly killed by two illegal immigrants, who dumped her body into a Houston bayou, according to a report Monday.

Jocelyn, 12, was assaulted for two hours before she was strangled to death. She was found naked from the waist down with her hands bound behind her back on on June 17.

The Houston Forensic Science Center confirmed that Jocelyn was sexually assaulted during the attack, KTRK reported on Monday.
They were waiting for that result before adding it as a final charge against recently arrived illegals Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Rangel Martinez, 21.

#4  I believe the law sez ten years and younger. I think I read that it's being adjusted now.

My opinion? Scrap the age part entirely. I have a daughter, pushing fifty. I love her just as much as Jocelyn's parents loved her. I also have granddaughters, one of them hers. I have three great granddaughters. Having this happen to any of them, oldest to youngest, would take a beast, not a man. Just give them a quick trial to establish the facts, let them take a last bath, and toss a toaster in with them.

Speedy trial, as is anyone's right. Then they can be beyond all cares and woe, shoveling coal in hell.

Speaking from Camp David where the Biden family were holed up for the weekend, Jill told the magazine "will not let those 90 minutes define the four years he’s been president."

Can a law make social media less 'addictive'? Politicians are about to find out
Sure, it worked for cigarettes, sex, alcohol, speed limits and migration.
[BBC] New York just passed a law on "addictive" social media feeds for children, but some researchers are questioning what that actually means.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul was clear about her opinion of social media earlier this month, speaking at a press conference to announce the signing of two new state laws designed to protect under-18-year-olds from the dangers the online world.

The apps are responsible for transforming "happy-go-lucky kids into teenagers who are depressed", she said, but according to Hochul, the legislation she signed off on would help. "Today, we save our children," Hochul said. "Young people across the nation are facing a mental health crisis fuelled by addictive social media feeds."

Starting in 2025, these new laws could force apps including TikTok and Instagram to send some children back to the earliest days of social media, before content was tailored by users' "likes" and tech giants collected data about our interests, moods, habits and more. The Stop Addictive Feeds Exploitation (SAFE) for Kids Act requires social media platforms and app stores seek parental consent before children under 18 use apps with "addictive feeds", a groundbreaking attempt to regulate algorithmic recommendations. The SAFE Act will even prevent apps from sending notifications to child or teenage users between midnight and 6am – practically a legal bedtime for devices – and require better age verification to avoid children slipping through undetected. The second law, the New York Child Data Protection Act, limits the information app providers collect about their users.

"By reining in addictive feeds and shielding kids' personal data, we'll provide a safer digital environment, give parents more peace of mind, and create a brighter future for young people across New York," Hochul explained.
