Once upon a time in mid 1960's, in Austin TX, I attended a speech given in a wide open venue similar to that in Butler PA today. Speaker was President Johnson. It was mid afternoon. There were multiple buildings with flat roofs in the vicinity. I scanned them all and could easily make out men standing on every roof, spaced a few dozen feet apart. I wonder how the perp was able to get to a convenient firing position without being challenged.

Security forces put him on the federal wanted list, and the FSIN promised a reward of 100,000 rubles for help in finding him. On November 2, 2021, he was detained. According to investigators, an FSIN employee helped him escape for a bribe of one million rubles.

They fear that violence is being used against Alkhanov to obtain a confession about complicity in the preparation of an escape from SIZO-1, the report states.
Along with Alkhanov, at least three prisoners were transferred to Taganrog - two Chechens and a Dagestani. They are also not allowed to see lawyers, human rights activists emphasized.
A recess has been declared in the consideration of the case against Alkhanov, which has been ongoing since December 2022, and the next hearing is scheduled for August 5, according to the case file on the website of the Southern District Military Court.
Magomed Alkhanov, in particular, is accused of involvement in the attack on the Pskov paratroopers in Chechnya. On the night of March 1, 2000, soldiers of the 6th company of the 104th Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Division entered into battle in Chechnya with a large detachment of Shamil Basayev  and Khattab. Troops from the IDF’s Commando Brigade have located weapons and a command room used by Hamas at UNRWA’s headquarters in Gaza City, the army said on Friday.
The troops had raided the compound earlier this week as part of a new operation carried out by the 99th Division in western and southern neighborhoods of Gaza City.
The UNRWA headquarters had not been in use in recent months. The IDF raided the compound earlier this year, discovering a major Hamas tunnel network that passed beneath it.
In the latest operation, the IDF said the commandos captured Hamas operatives who attempted to flee the UNRWA headquarters.
The commandos also battled with cells of button men who were holed up inside the facility, the army said.
Inside, the army said that Commando Brigade troops found a command room used to observe Israeli forces.
The troops were also said to find parts of a Hamas drone as well as dozens of weapons, including rockets, machine guns, mortars, bombs, grenades and bomb-dropping drones.
Israel has long accused UNRWA, the United Nations ...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society... agency for Paleostinian refugees, of funneling money into Hamas’s coffers and letting the terror group use the agency’s facilities.
Israel has also accused the aid agency of employing people who are active members of Hamas and other Gaza-based terror groups. On Thursday, it was reported that Jerusalem had sent UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini a letter listing 108 employees of the agency who Israel says are Hamas or Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... operatives, demanding that they immediately be fired.
Previous Israeli allegations that UNRWA was employing murderous Moslems led several countries to defund the agency. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits... the allegations have not been independently corroborated.
At a university building near the UNRWA headquarters, commandos located several weapons and an underground bomb-making lab, the army said on Friday.
Elsewhere in Gaza City, the IDF said troops with the 99th Division also located lathes used to manufacture weapons, along with cash belonging to terror groups. The troops also killed several button men, the army said.
The Gaza City raids came as the 98th Division on Wednesday wrapped up a two-week raid in the city’s eastern neighborhood of Shejaiya. The IDF said Hamas had regrouped in the neighborhood after previous offensives there.
During the operation, troops killed more than 150 terror operatives and demolished eight tunnels, the army said.
Israel had warned virtually all of Gaza City that it was now a "dangerous" combat zone.
The Hamas-run Gaza civil defense agency said on Friday that some 85% of Shejaiya’s buildings were destroyed in the latest operation there.
The agency said that it had recovered at least 100 bodies amid the rubble in Gaza City over the past week, as Israel has been withdrawing.
"There are bodies scattered in the streets, dismembered bodies, there are bodies of entire families, there are also bodies inside a home of an entire family that was completely burned," spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said on Friday in comments carried by Hamas media.
The terror group’s figures cannot be confirmed and do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.

The question of whether Israeli forces stay on the border is one of the issues blocking a potential ceasefire deal because both group Hamas and Egypt, a mediator in the talks, are opposed to Israel keeping its forces there.
Israel is worried that if its troops leave the border zone, referred to by Israel as the Philadelphi corridor, Hamas's armed wing could smuggle in weapons and supplies from Egypt into Gaza via tunnels that would allow it to re-arm and again threaten Israel.

Military sources informed "Sudan Tribune" that two suicide drones attempted to target the event, attended by the state governor, security officials, and prominent community members, which aimed to bolster public support for the SAF’s war efforts and state security measures.
Preliminary investigations suggest the drones originated from the "Um Sharaba" area in Central Gedaref and flew over "Ad Al Tin" before targeting the government secretariat. The drones missed their intended target, with one crashing near a women’s and maternity hospital and the other in the Al Sadaqa neighbourhood, causing injuries to two civilians.
The Gedaref government expressed deep sorrow for the civilian casualties and condemned the RSF for the attacks, accusing them of undermining the safety and security of the region.

[JUSTTHENEWS] A Minnesota school district is finally giving its students back the freedom to fail.
Rochester Public Schools implemented a "no credit" grading policy in 2020, in hopes of helping failing students who were struggling with virtual learning. Now, four years later, the district has overturned their policy to increase student accountability.
"Deciding that basic levels of effort were not necessary â because it wasn't going to show up in their GPA and they never got the very recognizable symbol of an âFâ â there was a subset of kids who were seeing that possibility as a reason not to meet some level of basic requirements," Superintendent Kent Pekel said Monday.
Pekel, superintendent since 2021, said the old policy didnât provide a clear picture to parents of how their students were doing, and did not count toward their grade point average. With a return to giving F's, the district hopes to raise student standards.
This is not the first policy Pekel has repealed, seeking to reverse the course of former Superintendent Michael MuĂąoz.
The previous administration implemented the now-overturned "Grading for Learning," which allowed for unlimited quiz retakes and did not count participation or homework as a part of grading. For the 2023-24 school year, teachers can now base up to 30% of their grade on in-class and at-home participation.
"If you give kids no credit for being ready for a test, and instead they take a test and then study it because they can take any number of retakes; or you never give points for class participation or homework â especially in a pandemic when kids were disconnected from school and a lot of social norms broke down â you had a disincentive to engage in the practice side of learning," Pekel said.

In the before condition, students had to pass the test at some point of the endless retakes. In the after condition, teachers can max out homework and class participation scores to pass students who havenât learned the material. I predict that the after condition will be worse than the current no grade state.

Democracy dies under marching Biden Boots, yeow!
[ZH] Itâs weird seeing the media pile on with the âscoopsâ about what exactly is going on behind the scenes with Bidenâs panicking entourage, but this one takes it to another level.
CNN reports that a prominent Democrat has claimed Bidenâs advisors have threatened White House staffers, saying they will "beat the shit out" of anyone who says anything about Bidenâs health that runs contrary to their narrative.
CNN anchor Jake Tapper spoke with reporter MJ Lee in a bizarre segment in which she revealed the claims.
Lee noted "You know, we talked to a lot of folks who said, âOf course we know that he has aged. Of course, we had seen some signs, especially over the last year, of his decline in terms of his physical stamina, his mental clarity.â But that version of the president that we saw on the debate stage, they said was basically unrecognizable."
She continued, "what my colleagues and I have really reported on is there is a lot of anger and the blame that is being placed on the inner circle of advisers and family members around the president and what these people say is this really painstakingly choreographed and stage managed daily operations at the White House around the president that is set up, specifically designed to prevent the public from often seeing the president in these extended unscripted settings."
"And one thing that many of the folks that we spoke with that they are so furious about is this idea that when people have gone to these inner circle of advisers around the president to express some of these concerns, that they were not taken seriously or really brushed aside," Lee added.
Then came the kicker.
"This is what one top Democrat told me, they said, "Everyone who expresses any level of suspicion or contrary views, they call everyone, and they beat the shit out of them and say stay on message," Lee asserted.
Lee also claimed that the source said members of Bidenâs family have also been warned not to step out of line.
The comments come after multiple reports, many in the New York Times, citing insiders who say Biden is completely out of it.
Tapper also cited yet another longtime Biden advisor, claiming he received the following text message:

Gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, have kidnapped three staff members including the acting Rector of the Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Dr. Emmanuel Barki.
According to a report, Barki, two other management staff of the institution and their driver were kidnapped on their way to Ugbokolo after an official assignment in Makurdi, the state capital, on Thursday.
It was gathered that the abductors kidnapped them along the Otukpo/Otukpa Road.

The officials said that some senior Hamas commanders in Gaza have communicated to the Hamas politicianship based in Doha, Qatar, that the situation in Gaza is urgent and that they want â and need â a ceasefire, Israel and US officials said.
A Washington Post report on Wednesday cited a US official as saying that Hamas is in "rough shape," running out of ammunition and supplies. That official said the terror group, the de facto regime in Gaza, is facing growing discontent from civilians who are more vocally demanding a ceasefire.
PMâS TOUGHENED TERMS
Netanyahu laid out his position on Thursday as Israeli negotiators were departing to Cairo for further mediated deliberations on a hostage-for-ceasefire deal with Hamas. The government is facing growing public pressure to reach a hostage release deal after over nine months of war.
The prime minister specified the four non-negotiable conditions for a deal which he first set out on Sunday, calling them "iron principles."
However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... he toughened two of those four previously declared non-negotiable terms.
Any deal, he said Thursday, "must allow Israel to resume fighting until all the goals of the war are achieved." It must also prevent weapons from being smuggled into Gaza from Egypt, "primarily by means of Israeli control of the Philadelphi Corridor and the Rafah Crossing," he went on, adding the references to the area that runs along the Gaza-Egypt border, and the Rafah border crossing there, a day after Defense Minister Yoav Gallant had offered leeway as regards to the border corridor.
Furthermore, said Netanyahu on Thursday, any deal must prevent "the return of armed terrorists, and the entry of weapons, to the north of the Strip." And finally, he said, any deal must, "already in the first stage of the framework, maximize the number of living hostages that will be freed." He had not specified the "first stage" when declaring this demand on Sunday.
He said he was sure that if Israel stands behind these conditions, "weâll achieve a deal that will free our hostages and also ensure that we will continue to fight until all aims are achieved. The way to free our hostages is to continue to pressure Hamas with all our strength."
However,

Netanyahuâs renewed demand for any Gaza truce deal to prevent the return of weapons and armed holy warriors to the Stripâs north violates prior agreements with mediators and will complicate or even thwart negotiations, according to unnamed senior security sources cited by Channel 12 news.
The network cited sources familiar with the talks as saying that in its May 27 response to mediators, Israel gave up its initial demand to maintain control of the so-called Netzarim Corridor, which currently splits the Strip in two and prevents the return of button men to the northern part.
"The demand to monitor everyone moving north is a retraction of our concession on the matter," one source is quoted as saying. "The IDF will know how to deal with the situation even if armed fighters return to the north, and we can find a solution with the Americans.
"This is a demand that will prevent a deal," the source said. "In the best case, it is an obstacle that will make the continuation [of talks] more difficult, and in the worst case, it is aimed as a spoke in the negotiationsâ wheel and at eliminating the ability to reach a deal.
"We are in a crucial two days for the deal to succeed. Itâs either now or in a very long time, perhaps never. Prime Minister Netanyahu added demands that deviate from the agreements with the mediators."
Two Israeli officials told Axios that there had been progress regarding security on the Egypt-Gaza border. Israel is demanding measures to prevent Hamas from digging smuggling tunnels under the boundary to bring weapons into Gaza. The Israel Defense Forces, which captured the area in May, says it has found over 20 smuggling tunnels under the border.
The Israeli officials told the outlet that Egypt has agreed to construct an underground wall to block tunnels and that the US will fund its construction. As part of the arrangement, Israel is also asking for access to sensors and cameras that are to be installed on the Egyptian side of the border. It is unclear if those demands will be met, the report said.
Israel has a similar subterranean barrier along its border with Gaza, intended to prevent Hamas from digging attack tunnels as it has done in the past.
Axios cited Israeli officials as saying the current ceasefire proposal allows for unarmed, displaced Paleostinians to return to northern Gaza, but doesnât specify how that will be achieved while preventing Hamas from relocating fighters and weapons as well.
Israeli, Egyptian, Qatari and US mediators are striving to find a mechanism that would enable that, officials said.
BARNEA SAID TO BACK NETANYAHU
Amid the ramped-up hostage deal negotiations in Qatar and Cairo, Mossad chief David Barnea defended Netanyahuâs "non-negotiable" conditions for a deal, and told a security cabinet meeting that without them, Israel would not win its war against Hamas, according to the Ynet news outlet.
Ynet said that Barnea told the meetingâs attendees that "without the clauses that Prime Minister Netanyahu insists on, we will not be able to renew the war [after the deal], and without it, we will not win and we will not return all of the hostages.
"This is what is needed for the good of the State of Israel," Barnea added.
Barnea addressed the security cabinet upon his return to Israel from negotiations in Qatar. Following Barneaâs return, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar departed Israel for Cairo to continue negotiations there.
According to Haaretz, Barnea told the security cabinet that insisting Israel can resume fighting in the terms of the deal will give the country leverage to prevent Hamas from changing the identities of the hostages it intends to release.
The clause will also ensure that the deal doesnât fall apart before reaching the second phase, Haaretz added, citing unnamed sources familiar with the contents of the security cabinet meeting.
The Israeli-drafted outline for a hostage deal and truce in Gaza, publicized by US President Biden at the end of May, proposed a phased deal that would include a "full and complete" six-week ceasefire that would see the release of a number of hostages, including women, the elderly, and the maimed, in exchange for the release of hundreds of Paleostinian security prisoners.
During these 42 days, Israeli forces would also withdraw from densely populated areas of Gaza and allow the return of displaced people to their homes in northern Gaza.
Over that period, Hamas, Israel and mediators would also negotiate the terms of the second phase that could see the release of the remaining male hostages, both civilians and soldiers. In return, Israel would free additional Paleostinian security prisoners and detainees. The third phase would see the return of any remaining hostages, including bodies of dead captives, and the start of a years-long reconstruction project.
The sides have been reported to differ on core aspects of the transition from the halt in fighting in the first stage to a potential permanent ceasefire. Israel is demanding "an exit point" between the two stages, in line with Netanyahuâs insistence that the war will not end until Hamas is destroyed. Hamas, by contrast, wants the initial ceasefire maintained for as long as is needed until negotiations are finalized on a permanent ceasefire and an end to the war, which Jerusalem says could enable Hamas to drag out the talks indefinitely.
Negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt and the US have so far failed to secure a truce in Gaza and release of captives there, since a weeklong ceasefire in November saw Hamas free 105 hostages in return for 240 Paleostinian prisoners.
However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... talks progressed after Hamas recently said it dropped its demand that the framework include an upfront commitment from Israel to end the war during the first phase â though the terror group is still demanding a commitment to that effect from mediators.
As part of a hostage deal, Israel would be expected to release hundreds of Paleostinian security convicts it has imprisoned, including those involved in deadly terror attacks. Haaretz cited Paleostinian sources familiar with the talks as saying that Israel has vetoed the release of 15 security prisoners that Hamas is demanding be set free as they have "significant symbolism."
Mediators are seeking to solve the issue, possibly with release to exile for the prisoners, or, for those who are residents of the West Bank, transfer to the Gaza Strip. The sources noted to Haaretz that at the start of the negotiations Israel had vetoed a far higher number of prisoners, but that has dropped as talks progressed.
At a news conference on Thursday, Biden said Israel and Hamas had agreed on the framework for a deal but that there were still gaps to close. He also said "Itâs time to end this war," but added: "It doesnât mean walk away from going after [Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar and Hamas."
The war in Gaza erupted after Hamasâs October 7 massacre, which saw some 3,000 holy warriors burst across the border into Israel by land, air and sea, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 251 hostages, mostly civilians, many amid acts of brutality and sexual assault. Israel responded with a military offensive to destroy Hamas, topple its Gaza regime, and free the hostages.
It is believed that 116 hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza â not all of them alive â after 105 civilians were released from Hamas captivity during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released prior to that.
Seven hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 19 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the military.
The IDF has confirmed the deaths of 42 of those still held by Hamas, citing new intelligence and findings obtained by troops operating in Gaza. One more person has been listed as missing since October 7, and their fate is still unknown.
Hamas has also been holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.

[Breitbart] The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) discovered a command center this week used by Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists within the Gaza City headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).
Israel has long insisted that UNRWA supports terrorism in general, and maintains that several UNRWA employees participated directly in the October 7 terror attack. Terrorists have repeatedly used UNRWA facilities to launch attacks and store weapons.

Following intelligence indicating that Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists and infrastructure were embedded inside the UNRWA Headquarters in Gaza City, IDF troops began a counterterrorism operation in the area earlier this week. At the start of the operation, the IDF opened a defined corridor to enable civilians to evacuate from the area.
During the operation, the Commando Brigade Combat Team under the command of the 99th Division conducted a targeted raid on a Hamas combat complex embedded inside a compound previously used by UNRWA. With the guidance of the Intelligence Directorate (J2), Maglan and Egoz special forces raided the compound and apprehended terrorists who tried to escape from the area.
During the activity, the troops engaged in close-quarters combat with terrorist cells that had fortified themselves inside the UNRWA compound and located parts for assembling a UAV, war rooms used for surveillance operations and large quantities of weapons, including tactical drones, rockets, machine guns, mortars, explosives and grenades.
Next to the terror compound raided by the troops, the IDF previously exposed and operated against an underground tunnel route and significant asset of Hamasâ military intelligence that passed under the building that served as UNRWAâs Headquarters in the Gaza Strip.
In additional scans carried out by the troops during the current operations in the area, the troops located an underground laboratory for the manufacturing of explosives and weapons inside a university building.
In February, the IDF revealed that it had found a Hamas command center underneath Shifa Hospital. Several countries suspended funding for UNRWA after reports emerged of UNRWA participating in the October 7 attack; but several have since restored it. Funding from the U.S. for UNRWA remains on hold; President Joe Biden initially restored $700 million in funding to UNRWA that had been cut by President Donald Trump out of terror concerns.

I'm not fan of Baldwin. I also feel the minute you pick up a real gun you are fully responsible for it. When a prosecutor fails to follow the simplest of evidence processes, the guilty go free, as they should. Too bad it does not work that way for all in this two teared justice system we now live in...

Early voting was something that has screwed up the timing for their swapping scheme. They waited too long even though they were aware of Joeâs feeble state throughout. BTW they championed early voting, which will keep Harris Whatever off the ballot in several states that are critical to their hopes of maintaining their hold on the White House. ...Just for the sake of discussion...I kinda feel that the rules governing when someone could get on a ballot are a real problem, even when we're looking at a far more benign situation.
My thinking is that with electronic voting machines, changing a candidate shouldn't be more than a day or so issue, and even if they're using paper ballots then not more than a week - 10 days should be needed. Yes, it would cost money, and if it's not an issue of illness, death, or other Act-of-God, then bill the respective national parties - that would help keep these events to a minimum.

A conditional endorsement was offered in June as long as the congresswoman "Publicly opposes all funding to Israel, including the Iron Dome; Participates regularly in the DSA Federal Socialists in Office Committee; Publicly opposes all criminalization of Anti-Zionism, such as bills advancing the IHRA definition which conflates criticism of Israel with anti-semitism; [and] Publicly supports BDS (Boycott, Divest, and Sanction) to end Israeli settler-colonialism."
