Mayorkas Selects Former DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano for "Independent Security Review" of Trump Assassination Attempt

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced his intention to launch an "independent security review" of the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, which will consist of a four-person panel that includes one of his predecessors, Janet Napolitano.
According to the Washington Free Beacon, Mayorkas released a statement on Sunday announcing the creation of the panel. Mayorkas had previously worked for Napolitano while she served as DHS Secretary for the entirety of Barack Obama's first term; she had previously served as Governor of Arizona, and went on to serve as President of the University of California system after her DHS tenure.
Napolitano has long been an opponent of President Trump and his policies. In 2017, she filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over its immigration policies. She later claimed on a conference call in 2020 that Trump had "no plan for how to deal with the issues of structural racism that we have seen erupt around the country," and accused Trump of "throwing gasoline on the fire" after a peaceful protest at the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021.
Another member of the panel will be Mark Filip, a former Department of Justice (DOJ) official who was part of the sweetheart deal that was ultimately granted to convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein back in 2008. Also on the panel are Fran Townsend, a former national security official during the George W. Bush Administration, and former University of Maryland police superintendent David Mitchell.

Despite the proven track record of success the modus operandi moderate Democratic leadership has given its party for the better part of the last 3 decades, the direction it has gone in since 2020 makes returning to that strategy untenable. For the modern democratic voter, allegiance to policy making promoting transgenderism, DEI, and an open border has become so ingrained in their political consciousness that the party nominating a moderate candidate like Manchin would likely result in abysmal voter turnout. That reaction from Democratic voters would offset any gains it would stand to make by garnering votes from RINO voters who share liberal's obsession with doing whatever it possible to upend Donald Trump, regardless of the cost. The toll that has taken appears to finally have come due as the Democratic Party's apparent decision to double-down on the radical political platform that has been the cornerstone of a presidential administration with some of the lowest approval ratings in history by investing itself in Kamala Harris as the future of the party. That decision has snuffed out any rekindled optimism of their chances to name a candidate like Manchin who could serve as a competent adversary to Donald Trump in the wake of Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 race.
Harris becoming the presumptive nominee doesn't just represent a capitulation for democrats in 2024 and the near future. It also represents the urgent need for the party to self-reflect and grow into something other than what it has become if it hopes to have any future at all. The challenge that exists there is that the electorate it has cultivated is so hyper-radicalized that the voting base the Democratic Party hinges on is one that is innately obstinate, refusing to even concede the most radically polarizing positions of its ideology. By fostering that impetuous political consciousness, building a more moderate Democratic Party that can act in the interest of the American public instead of its radical ideologues seems as hopeless as the party's chances heading into election day.
[NewsNationNow] The former leader of a Los Angeles street gang who made national headlines for ordering the murders of members of his own gang was killed in prison over the weekend.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, 47-year-old Ezequiel Romo was stabbed multiple times by three fellow inmates at Centinela State Prison in Imperial County Sunday evening.
Cristian Moreno, 31, Johnny Garcia, 39, and Christian Hernandez, 41, are accused of attacking Romo with “inmate-manufactured” weapons in a dayroom at the prison. Guards issued verbal orders to break up the attack, but those orders were ignored, CDCR officials said, which resulted in multiple deployments of pepper spray to stop the violence.
Romo was taken to an on-site medical facility and was pronounced dead hours later.
Romo had been at Centinela since August 2023 after being sentenced in Los Angeles County to life in prison without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit other murders.
According to a 2023 profile by the Los Angeles Times, Romo was the leader of the Blythe Street gang in Panorama City and was responsible for at least eight deaths after he ordered members of the gang to turn on one another, removing drug addicts, informants, rivals and other people whom he considered “dead weight” from the gang’s ranks.
I guess life without parole makes one dead weight in certain circles.
Prior to being the main shotcaller for the street gang, Romo spent nearly two decades behind bars on manslaughter charges. He was 18 years old when he shot and killed a 19-year-old man during a fight at a fast food joint in the San Fernando Valley in 1995.
In prison, he became a soldier of the Mexican Mafia prison gang and made plans to incorporate Blythe Street into the national crime syndicate upon his release.
When he returned to Panorama City, he took over his old gang, ordered them to sell Mexican Mafia drugs and collect taxes on behalf of the criminal organization in hopes of raising his status.
His return to the streets also led to him ordering the killings of members of his own gang.
Described as a “micromanager” by the Times, Romo ordered hits on members of his gangs for minor infractions like getting an unsanctioned tattoo or getting high and not returning his calls.
“And if you had something Romo wanted, like a kilogram of cocaine, why pay for it? His dealer got the same treatment: a bullet in the back,” the Times wrote.
Romo would eventually be busted with drugs in his car and would be sentenced to prison where he would continue to run the gang from behind bars before returning to the streets again.
He was ultimately linked to several murders committed by members of his gang and went to trial alongside them in 2023.
Romo would be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after he was convicted of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and attempted conspiracy to commit second-degree murder.
[FoxNews] U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned Tuesday in the wake of mounting pressure following the assassination attempt on former President Trump, Fox News confirmed.
Fox News reviewed the letter Cheatle sent to the U.S. Secret Service Tuesday morning, just a day after taking bipartisan heat during testimony before the House Oversight Committee Monday and over a week after a would-be assassin Thomas Crooks attempted to take the life of Trump at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
"To the Men and Women of the U.S. Secret Service, The Secret Service’s solemn mission is to protect our nation’s leaders and financial infrastructure," Cheatle wrote in a letter to the agency. "On July 13th, we fell short on that mission."

Strangely, Cheetos are a Pepsico product too. Pepsico, with its long history of I Hate America upper leadership remarks.
High ranking member of government thought she was a perfect fit for a high director position. I'll guess she was insufferable but with a custom built whisper network so you had to take it. She obviously doesn't care (nor does the entire DEI theory) about her charges, basically taking someone like me and having me play center on the Chief's O-line during the Super Bowl.

I hope Republicans don't let her off the hook just because she resigned. It's way too easy for her to say it was a "lapse" and then think that she can walk away from it. The assassination attempt and her role in it need to be thoroughly investigated and if criminal charges are appropriate she needs to stand trial.

Should the Democrats still control the Senate? Last I recall, there were only 48 Democrats, but three independents also voted with them, giving them something they could call a majority. Is that still true?

Election laws in all seven battleground states will allow Democrats to place onto ballots the name of Vice President Kamala Harris, or another candidate if one materializes.
As President Joe Biden’s supporters rally around Harris to take his spot as the party nominee, Republicans are planning legal challenges. Biden announced his decision via social media Sunday afternoon, with one month until the Aug. 19-22 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada are commonly-labeled swing states. Collectively, there are 93 electoral college votes among them.
No opposition to Harris emerging since Sunday's social media announcement, Democratic delegates across the country swiftly moved to align support from a primary season where voters created enough pledged delegates for Biden.
Patrick Gannon, the public information director for the North Carolina State Board of Elections, said the state’s laws will accommodate this change.
“County boards of elections [in North Carolina] start sending absentee ballots to voters who have requested them on September 6, which I believe is the earliest in the country,” Gannon said in an email to The Center Square.
He said that once the convention is held and the candidates are nominated, the ballots for North Carolina will be prepped.
“In general, our agency requests that candidate names be given to us by mid-August so that there is sufficient time to prepare, proof, and print the ballots before the September 6 distribution deadline for absentee ballots. We should be able to accommodate the Democratic convention schedule, especially since we know there is a Democratic Party line that will go on every ballot, and we are simply waiting for names to insert before ballots are printed,” he said.
North Carolina, which has 16 electoral votes, has been won by Republicans in all but two of the last 14 cycles.
The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, has promised to sue if Biden drops out.
While Marguerite Bowling, senior communications manager, told The Center Square in an email that “the team is holding off on any media requests for now,” more is likely coming from The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project.
“We have been preparing for this moment for months. Many in the media tried discrediting us. Who is laughing now? No more ‘make it up as you go’ elections. Stay tuned…,” said the Oversight Project in a statement on social media following Biden’s announcement.
Because Biden dropped out before becoming the official candidate of the Democratic Party, it does make it easier to replace him than if it had been after the Democratic National Convention.
Pennsylvania is the swing state with the most electoral votes (19) and a new candidate will have no problem being placed on the ballot, according to Matt Heckel, press secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of State.
“Under the Pennsylvania Election Code, the presidential and vice presidential nominees selected at the Democratic National Convention will appear on the general election ballot as the Democratic candidates for president and vice president,” Heckel said in an email to The Center Square. “Because the 2024 Democratic National Convention has not yet taken place, no nominees have been selected for the November ballot.”
It is the same in Wisconsin, where the Democratic Party has until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, to inform the Wisconsin Election Commission of its nominated candidates for president and vice president.
Riley Vetterkind, public information officer for the Wisconsin Election Commission confirmed this information with The Center Square.
In other battleground states:
• Michigan (15 electoral college votes): The presidential candidate must be submitted within one business day of the party’s state convention or national convention, whichever is later. Ballots will be prepared beginning Sept. 6.
“Presidential candidates are certified to appear on Michigan’s general election ballot as a result of the outcome of their respective party’s nominating conventions," said a statement to The Center Square from Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Attorney General Dana Nessel.
• Arizona (11): The Democratic candidate can be changed up until 75 days before the election, which is Aug. 22.
• Georgia (11): Candidates must be submitted 60 days prior to Election Day, which is Sept. 6.
• Nevada (six): Normally, Democrats have until the fourth Friday in July, which is July 26, to nominate their candidates. But, due to an amendment passed in September 2023, major political parties now have until the first business day in September to submit names. This year, that's Sept. 3.
[JustTheNews] House Administration Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk on Monday released an additional 4,000+ hours of United States Capitol Police (USCP) footage of the January 6 riot.
Loudermilk's committee is working on a new investigation into the Capitol riot, after he claimed that the work of the Democrat-led Select Committee on the January 6 Capitol Attack was so tainted that the final report should be invalidated.
The congressman previously accused the select committee of cherry-picking its evidence in their investigation, and said some of the pieces of evidence were "flat out lies."
"My subcommittee’s investigation has one goal: Ensure the American people get the complete unvarnished truth about January 6th," Loudermilk said in a social media post on Monday. "Today’s video footage release brings us one critical step closer to accountability and accomplishing that important mission."

At least a dozen Russian soldiers have reportedly died and another 30 are said to have been hospitalised after eating watermelons poisoned by Ukrainian resistance fighters in an occupied city.
Putin's troops based in the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol received the melons from unwitting Russian locals, who received them from the city's partisan groups, according to local media reports.

Armed Shin Bet operatives are preparing to provide security for around 88 Israeli athletes and their staff but not every person will have their own bodyguard, according to Israel's minister of culture.
Miki Zohar told The Telegraph that they had been planning the largest-ever security operation for Israeli athletes for over a year, while doubling the team's security budget.
The move comes as threats against Jews and Israelis continue to climb at an alarming rate amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict unravelling in the Middle East.
Former Shin Bet officer, Lior Akerman, also revealed to the newspaper that the agents will be 'equipped with weapons and technologies' and will also benefit from the assistance of local security and police forces.
The huge security effort will begin from the moment of the athletes' arrival in Paris, throughout every stage of the games, and to the moment they return home to Israel.
Former Shin Bet chief Yaakov Peri, echoed Akerman's statement while confirming the Israeli secret agents were most likely already in France and carrying out checks on the grounds.
He also dubbed the operation as 'one of the toughest security challenges' any Israeli delegation has been faced with.
'The threat against the team can come from anywhere. There is no doubt that there's danger,' Peri chillingly warned.
France is considered a 'category 2' country, meaning he Israeli government believes it is a 'potential threat' for Israelis.

[Washington Examiner] Vice President Kamala Harris will not attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress.
The move is likely an attempt to distance herself from the Biden administration’s stance on the war in Gaza, which has rattled the Democratic Party. By distancing herself from the heavily pro-Israel stance of President Joe Biden, she could help neuter attacks from the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
Dozens of progressive Democrats are boycotting Netanyahu’s speech as well.
Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Ben Cardin (D-MD) will preside over Netanyahu’s speech in Harris’s stead. He is retiring at the end of the year. Cardin is also the special representative on antisemitism, racism, and intolerance for the 57-nation Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Parliamentary Assembly.
Harris will instead meet with Netanyahu at another more private point during the Israeli leader’s stay, according to multiple reports. Biden is expected to meet with him as well.

[Federalist] If you need further proof that Democrats will go to extreme lengths to rig elections in their favor, look no further than the silent coup that occurred Sunday, when it was announced that Joe Biden would not seek reelection this November.
"It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President," read a letter posted by Biden’s X account. "And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term."
The whole episode resembles a storyline from a dystopian horror film. For years, Democrats and their legacy media allies pushed endless propaganda claiming a mentally-declining Biden possessed the rigorous stamina required to be president. Just last month, media hacks were parroting debunked talking points put out by the White House claiming videos showcasing Biden’s frailty were "cheap fakes."
And then the June 27 debate against Donald Trump happened. Realizing they could no longer hide Sleepy Joe’s mental decline and worrying that his cratering approval rating could cost them the 2024 election, the Democrat political machine jumped into action.
These political forces suddenly acknowledged what the general public has known since before the Delaware Democrat assumed the presidency. In a seemingly coordinated campaign, left-wing media acolytes, Democrat politicos, and Hollywood snobs spent the following weeks feigning a newfound concern about Biden’s ailing health and demanding he drop his reelection bid to "protect democracy."

They're throwing in the towel if they nominate Harris. The more that woman campaigns, the more votes she will lose. It isn't just that she says so many incredibly stupid things, it's the sound of her voice. She's been all over the TV lately. I've only heard little snippets as I walk through the room and it makes me cringe.

A Paleostinian suspect has been arrested over the murder of an Israel Prison Service employee earlier this month, authorities said on Monday.
According to police and the Shin Bet security agency, the suspect who allegedly murdered 40-year-old dog handler Yochai Avni on July 8 was detained just two days after the attack. However,

The Shin Bet security agency announced on Monday that it recently foiled plans by a West Bank terror cell from the Aqabat Jaber camp to carry out a kidnapping attack against Israelis.
The previous day, the agency revealed that it had foiled a plot by Paleostinian university students to carry out a shooting attack on Israelis in the West Bank.
The agency said Monday that troops recently arrested Muhammad Tarik, 19, and Amin Qatash, 20, residents of Aqabat Jaber, near Jericho, over their involvement in the kidnapping plot. A third member of the cell was detained by the Paleostinian Authority security forces, according to the Shin Bet.
The members of the West Bank terror cell had dug a hole in the ground where they intended to hold Israeli hostages, the Shin Bet said.
Tarik and Qatash established the cell, purchased firearms and other weapons, and recruited others to carry out a kidnapping alongside shooting and explosive attacks against IDF troops and civilians in the West Bank, according to the agency.
"It emerged that the cell dug a hole in which they planned to hide the hostages. The hole’s opening was camouflaged and located near the house of one of the cell members," the Shin Bet statement read.
The Shin Bet said that it had seized a makeshift submachine gun, an bomb and other military equipment connected to the suspected terror cell.
Following their arrests, the suspects were charged last week with a series of serious security offenses, including charges related to their alleged kidnapping plans.
On Sunday, the Shin Bet revealed that it had foiled a similar but unrelated terror plot by a cell made up of Hamas ..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,... representatives on the student council at Birzeit University in the West Bank. Since October 7, troops have arrested some 4,400 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,850 affiliated with Hamas.
According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 560 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed during raids or bully boyz carrying out attacks.
During the same period, 22 Israelis, including security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another five members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Brown, of Northwest DC, was brutally beaten to death by the three girls, age 12 and 13. Well, you know. Girls will be girls.
