#9  The Jewish community needs to wake up

There ae lots of opposing opinions about everything within the Jewish community, 49 Pan. More importantly, that part of the Jewish community that does not support the Progressive Jew-haters is the part that’s having lots of children. Progressive Jews, just like Progressive non-Jews, are as a group well below replacement.

#10  Glad to hear. I just dont get it, or understand the culture. Logic would lead me to them being conservative, never wanting the past to resurface. And yet they continually side with the liberal left that care nothing for them, hates their religion and hate Israel...
Posted by: 49 Pan || 07/24/2024 20:49 Comments || Top||

#11  The easy observation, 49 Pan, is that for every two Jews there are at least three opinions — on any topic under the sun. This is a tradition that goes back well over two millennia. Contrqry to popular belief, we are not a homogenous group.

But in general, Western Jews are assimilated, highly educated, and many are professionals or business owners - and in general they think exactly like their non-Jewish peers. I agree with you that choosing Progressivism at this stage is self-destructive… but also like their non-Jewish peers the Progressive ones are having fewer than replacement number of children, while the conservative ones are having more than replacement — like in Israel, an average of three or more. A generation from now the question will be why Jews are politically so much more conservative than their non-Jewish peers.

Trump supporter, 80, putting up political sign in his front yard is run over
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] An elderly Trump supporter has been seriously hurt in a 'politically motivated' incident after being run over by an ATV while he was putting up a campaign sign in his yard. The 80-year-old Michigan man sustained critical injuries after the vehicle plowed into him in front of his home in Hancock on Sunday.

The suspect was identified on Monday after he called police to confess to 'a crime involving an ATV driver in the last 24 hours', according to their statement. However, when cops arrived they discovered the 22-year-old driver dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Possibly he intended suicide by cop, but they took too long.
Police alleged the driver had vandalized two other vehicles prior to the hit and run, and was linked to three 'politically motivated' cases in total.

Police were first called to the the 1600 block of Anthony Street at 5.45pm on Sunday where they found the elderly man with serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital where he remains in a critical condition as of Tuesday.

Police said that the ATV driver was targeting Trump and law enforcement supporters.

The suspect called the cops to report himself and requested they 'send someone to pick me up', according to an official statement.

'The crimes reported in the city of Hancock appear to be politically motivated, involving victims who displayed Trump election signs as well as law enforcement appreciation stickers and flags commonly referred to as "thin blue line" paraphernalia,' Houghton County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

Deputies who searched the driver's home recovered several electronic devices which are being searched by computer forensic specialists.

Biden was deathly pale... Air Force One was flying so fast I felt sick
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] … Daily Mail's reporter on board reveals the incredible inside story of the mad rush to get Joe to Covid isolation - and why she feared for him

Air Force One was flying so fast that I was shaking in my seat.

Less than 30 minutes ago, my colleagues in the White House press corps and I had received word – just before the rest of the world – that President Biden had been diagnosed with COVID.

Now we were joining him on a mad rush back from Las Vegas to the Bidens' Rehoboth Beach getaway in Delaware.

Moments after fastening my seatbelt, the massive engines of the presidential Boeing 747 roared to life.

The flight attendants, in their custom blue uniforms, stumbled in the aisles as the jet's nose pointed skyward.

Tray tables shook. Reporters held up their water glasses so they wouldn't spill.

Most concerning, though, was that we had no idea what was going on.

For security reasons, there is no Wi-Fi on Air Force One, so we were cut off from the outside world.

A doctor always travels with the President, but no word came on the type of care he was receiving or how ill he was.

Twice, we asked White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who was also onboard, to give us an update on Biden's condition.

Twice, we were denied.

Even if she had spoken to us, there would have been no way to know what was coming.

That the president wouldn't be seen again in public for nearly a week.

And that in less than four days' time, his 52-year career in politics would come to a dramatic end.

After all, Biden's week had begun on a high note.

On Monday, July 15, despite escalating calls from within the Democratic party for the president to quit the 2024 race, he appeared to be in a jovial mood when he arrived in the afternoon at Joint Base Andrews, outside of Washington DC.

I was standing with the press pool – reporters from more than a dozen media organizations – waiting for him on the tarmac.
A good deal more bosom-heaving description of each minute of the day, but the upshot is that they let the unmasked, visibly unhealthy, known-to-be Covid-ridden president meet’n’greet the customers at a Mexican restaurant before rushing back to the White House. Then:
The motorcade raced through empty streets, sirens blaring and lights flashing.

'Just go,' we called out to our driver as we arrived at Harry Reid International Airport. We all pushed our way out of the van and ran to get close to Air Force One.

The Secret Service held us back as Biden stepped out of the Beast, six staff and agents forming a circle around him.

'How are you feeling, sir?' we yelled.

He gave a thumbs-up: 'I feel good!'

But as he walked slowly towards the plane, we knew that wasn't the case.

The president inched up the shortened gangway — built-in stairs near the front of the plane that he's been using instead of the traditional, longer staircase for more than a year now.

Once he was on board, we reporters rushed to find our seats in the back of the plane.
…allowing them all to breath in the Covid virii exhaled by the president into the recirculated airplane air…
And nearly from the moment we lifted off the runway, the fuselage began to shake.

It's not entirely uncommon for Air Force One pilots to drop the hammer. President Trump routinely asked his crew to cut down flight times by going faster. But this break-neck speed was unusual for President Biden.

The normal flight time from Vegas to Delaware is around four and a half hours. We made the trip in three hours and 48 minutes. Our destination was Dover Air Force Base — the closest suitable airport to Biden's Rehoboth home.

Touching down, we rushed into position once more on the tarmac to watch the president deplane. And as the steps of Air Force One were lowered, we waited anxiously under the wing.

He began his exit at 10:29pm (EST), still looking pale and frail. He stepped down gingerly, then paused and waved. Half way down, and for a few seconds, he stared off into space, until a Secret Service agent gently tapped his shoulder.

The touch seemed to rouse him and he continued down, appearing so unsteady that I was worried he would fall. But he sluggishly made it to his SUV and shakily climbed inside for the hour-long ride to Rehoboth.
Photos and video as usual at the link. Nobody appears masked up.

CNN: It's ‘Wildly Irresponsible' For Trump ‐ Who Was Shot In The Head ‐ To Say Secret Service Didn't Protect Him
[Federalist] CNN’s Jim Acosta claimed during his afternoon segment on Tuesday that it was "wildly irresponsible" for former President Donald Trump to accurately note that the U.S. Secret Service failed to protect him from an attempted assassination that left him with a wounded ear.

"The Biden/Harris Administration did not properly protect me, and I was forced to take a bullet for Democracy. IT WAS MY GREAT HONOR TO DO SO!" former President Donald Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.

The 2024 Republican presidential nominee also pointed out shortly after U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned in disgrace that she "never gave me proper protection, so I ended up having to take a bullet for democracy."

"When you hear the former president saying something like that, what’s your reaction?" Acosta asked his guest. "I mean, obviously, the Secret Service is a professional operation. To say something like ’they did not protect me,’ it just sounds just wildly irresponsible."

Secret Service Asks Trump Campaign to Stop Holding Outdoor Rallies
[Breitbart] The Secret Service has reportedly advised the Trump campaign to stop holding rallies and events outdoors, almost two weeks after an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Three people close to the matter, who spoke to the Washington Post “on the condition of anonymity,” said the Secret Service had spoken to campaign advisers about not holding events outdoors with large crowds.

This comes after Trump was shot by “a bullet that pierced the upper part” of his right ear during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from the roof of a nearby building.

The sources added that the Trump campaign is not currently looking to hold outdoor events and is eyeing indoor venues, “such as basketball arenas and other large spaces” that can seat thousands of attendees.

A campaign official who spoke to the outlet anonymously explained that holding events indoors is safer because you are able “to control who comes through a finite number of doors,” but pointed out that indoor events have capacity limits:

Indoor rallies are more expensive, campaign advisers said. But one campaign official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe private plans said the indoor events are inherently safer because it is easier to control who comes through a finite number of doors, and there are fewer line-of-sight issues.

“Obviously with an indoor venue, you have a capacity,” the campaign official added. “It doesn’t pack the same punch. There’s something about being at one of those outdoor rallies.”

Since the assassination attempt on Trump, the U.S. Secret Service has received increased criticism surrounding the security failings that occurred during the Trump rally.

While I understand outside venues are an extreme challenge, to cover and defend.

We have also seen LSD LAWFARE actions regarding Trumps Rallies.
Where permits are issued for 3,500 and 25,000+ show up.

Such #'s surely cause P.R. issues for Democrat (insert name) campaign and MSM trying to play down his popularity with the voters.

It all depends on the meaning of "the job". If the job was Security Theater, they did great. They had the Professional Bodyguards with blue blazers and sunglasses. They had the Tacticool Snipers with scary black rifles. We should not let the clips of swarmy confusion or the fact that the protectee got shot detract from the performance.

The court sentences Malik Gandaloev to 20 years in prison
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A native of Ingushetia, Malik Gandaloev, whom investigators also believe to have participated in the hostage-taking in the Rostov pretrial detention center, was sentenced to 20 years in prison in the case of participation in the "Islamic State" and the manufacture of explosives.

As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, in early March 2023, Ingush security forces put three students on the wanted list, including Ingushetia native Malik Gandaloev, who was accused of manufacturing and storing explosives and participating in the activities of a terrorist organization. In this case, the prosecutor demanded 22 years of imprisonment for him.

Gandaloev became the second defendant in the case of hostage-taking in Rostov-on-Don's SIZO-1; he was arrested under the article on escape until August 15. On June 16, inmates of the Rostov SIZO took two employees of the detention center hostage. They identified themselves as members of the "Islamic State", demanded a car, weapons, and the opportunity to leave the SIZO. The security forces stormed the building, the hostage-takers were killed, and the hostages were released.

"Kavkazsky Uzel" prepared a report "Taking of Hostages in the Rostov SIZO" with a chronology of these events.

According to the investigation and the court, in 2023 in Astrakhan, Gandaloev and two other people entered into a conspiracy "on joint participation in the activities of the banned international terrorist organization Islamic State, voluntarily taking an oath to its leader."

Gandaloev also purchased components of an explosive device and transported them to Ingushetia, where he made a homemade explosive substance and an explosive device, which were seized during the arrest in March 2023, according to a message on the court's Telegram channel.

Recall that in early March 2023, Ingush security forces  put  three students on the wanted list: natives of Ingushetia Malik and Ramazan Gandaloev and native of Dagestan Arsen Gammadov. According to sources, a "farewell" letter of a religious extremist nature was found in the apartment rented by the students.

According to sources, Malik Gandaloev and Gammadov were detained on March 23, and Ramazan Gandaloev  himself turned himself in to the police on March 26.

Trump to meet Netanyahu in Florida
[NEWARAB] Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said on Tuesday, a sign the two men are looking to ease tensions between them.

"Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida," the former US president said in a post on Truth Social, using Netanyahu's nickname.

The meeting will be their first since the end of Trump's presidency, during which the two forged close ties, and comes at a time of strains also between Netanyahu and Democratic President Joe Biden over Israel's war on Gaza.

The Israeli leader angered Trump when he congratulated Biden on his victory over Trump in the 2020 election. Trump has falsely claimed the election was stolen from him by voter fraud.

Netanyahu requested an in-person meeting with Trump during his visit to Washington this week, Politico said on Monday. The Israeli embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Courtesy of Skidmark, Fox News adds:
The planned meeting comes during Netanyahu’s visit to the United States. Netanyahu is set to first visit Washington D.C. where he will address Congress on Wednesday, and meet with President Biden on Thursday afternoon for a bilateral meeting. He is expected to join Biden to later meet with the families of Americans held hostage by Hamas.

Netanyahu's visit comes amid the war between Israel and Hamas after the terrorist attack on Oct. 7, 2023.

Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, posted to his Truth Social, "During my first term, we had Peace and Stability in the Region, even signing the historic Abraham Accords - And we will have it again," Trump continued. "Just as I have said in discussions with President Zelensky and other World Leaders in recent weeks, my PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH Agenda will demonstrate to the World that these horrible, deadly Wars, and violent Conflicts must end."

Trump added: "Millions are dying, and Kamala Harris is in no way capable of stopping it."

In 2018, the Trump administration moved the U.S. Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem – a relocation long debated in Washington – and one that showed the U.S. officially recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

During his administration, Trump also recognized Israeli sovereignty over Golan Heights; withdrew the U.S. from the U.N. Human Rights Council; and brokered the Abraham Accords.

The Abraham Accords was a historic peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates that normalized relations and created bilateral agreements regarding "investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, health care, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit."

Netanyahu will also address Congress on Wednesday, after being invited by the bipartisan leaders of both the House and the Senate back in May.

But Vice President Kamala Harris has declined to preside over his address, because she will be in Indiana for an event that was previously scheduled, according to an aide. Harris, who on Monday became the presumptive Democratic nominee for president following Biden’s campaign suspension, will not attend Netanyahu’s address. The vice president serves as the president of the Senate.

Russia Plans to Build Oil Refinery Fuel Cache in Cuba
[Breitbart] The regimes of Russia and Cuba held discussions for the construction of an oil refinery in Cuba following Russian lawmakers’ visit to the island, the Russian state news agency Tass reported on Monday.

The prospective Russian refinery, if built, would become Cuba’s fifth, joining the nation’s four other rundown refineries.

A delegation of Russian lawmakers that Duma Speaker Viacheslav Volodin led traveled to Cuba in July. During the visit, the delegation held meetings with the communist regime’s figurehead president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, and the head of the Cuban parliament, Esteban Lazo Hernández.

Volodin landed in Havana after a brief visit to Nicaragua, where he participated as a special guest in celebrations of the forty-fifth anniversary of the Sandinista revolution in which dictator Daniel Ortega made public calls for the “disappearance” of the United States.

“Bidens, they come and go. While Cuba exists and will into the future,” Volodin said in reference to U.S. President Joe Biden’s decision to drop from the 2024 presidential race.

Duma Deputy Speaker Alexander Babakov, who was part of the Russian delegation, told Tass that the construction of the oil refinery was one of the subjects touched upon during the Russian lawmakers’ whirlwind visit to Havana.

“Cuba has crude oil, it is logical not to import oil products, but to produce them here,” Babakov said. “The largest Russian companies could participate here.”

“In this regard, a possible next step is deeper processing of oil products and including the creation of fertilizers,” he continued.

In recent years, the Castro regime has begun seeking an increased amount of aid from Russia, as Cuba suffers through a severe economic and humanitarian crisis — a direct consequence of more than six decades of communist rule.

Russia, a top financier of the Castro regime during the times of the Soviet Union, resumed its oil shipments to the island nation in late March after a year-long hiatus. The oil shipments seek to help Cuba ease its severe fuel shortages and run its dilapidated power plants, whose failures are causing near-endless power blackouts nationwide. Cubans are reportedly living through some of the most inhumane conditions since the 1959 communist coup.

The increase in Russian oil shipments also seeks to offset the diminishing number of heavily subsidized oil shipments that Cuba receives from the socialist regime in Venezuela, Cuba’s top oil supplier.

Venezuelan oil shipments to Cuba have dropped significantly in recent years, as the collapse of socialism in Venezuela and more than two decades of socialist mismanagement greatly diminished the country’s oil output capabilities.

In recent years, the Castro regime has sought foreign investment to help it locate and drill oil offshore on its northern coast with little to no success.

Cuba presently has four run-down refineries, three of which were built by American capital entrepreneurship before Fidel Castro’s coup in the late 1950s. A fourth one, located in the province of Cienfuegos, was built in the 1980s using Soviet technology. While the Cienfuegos refinery was opened in 1991, it was closed down in 1995 after it failed to properly operate.

Venezuela’s socialist regime, under the rule of late dictator Hugo Chávez, helped its ideological mentors by funding the $83 million renovation works of the Cienfuegos refinery through a joint Cuba-Venezuela venture established in 2006. The refinery was reopened in 2007, but it has reportedly endured “ups and downs” throughout the years and required a series of repairs that concluded in November.

In 2008, Venezuela planned to have its state oil company PDVSA build a new refinery in Cuba, providing the $4.3 billion investment required. Construction works for the refinery were slated to conclude in 2015, but the collapse of Venezuela under socialism left the plans on hold.

El Fasher conflict death toll exceeds 470, health ministry official reveals
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Violence in El Fasher, North Darfur, has caused more than 5,000 casualties, including 750 deaths, since the fighting resumed last May, according to a state health ministry official.

It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
ese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to avoid festivities in El Fasher collapsed after nearly a year, leading to the RSF’s siege of the city on May 10th and subsequent violent mostly peaceful festivities.

Ibrahim Khater, Director General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur, told Sudan Tribune that the corpse count from the conflict has reached 750, with an additional 4,700 individuals injured. Khater highlighted the dire challenges facing the healthcare system, particularly the severe shortage of medical personnel, as many doctors have fled the region due to the persistent violence.

The United Nations

has reported that the fighting, which erupted on May 10th, has displaced hundreds of thousands of people from El Fasher, with many seeking refuge in the Jebel Marra areas controlled by the Sudan Liberation Movement.

Khater emphasized the urgent need for over 200 doctors across various specialities to staff the remaining operational hospitals in North Darfur. He noted that most of the remaining medical staff in El Fasher have chosen to remain in their homes or have relocated to other areas within the state in search of safety.

The official also revealed a critical shortage of essential medicines, including malaria treatments and medications for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancer. The Ministry of Health has been procuring medicines from local markets, company warehouses, and through imports to address these shortages.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan's Economy: Turkish Inflation Hits 91%, Tanking Tourism Industry
[Breitbart] Persistently high inflation under the policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is decimating the Turkish tourism industry, as both foreign visitors and locals decide to save money by nipping over to Greece for holiday getaways.
Financing the swanning around necessary to support your image as the revived Ottoman empire has an expensive downside when financed with borrowed money. The equivalent is true for America, of course, where the $1 trillion annual interest payment is now the biggest item in the national budget, if I understand correctly.
“Angry citizens have taken to social media to share their bills, including the equivalent of $640 for food and drinks for five people in Bodrum and $30 for five scoops of ice cream in Cesme,” Fortune reported Monday.

Grumpy Turks said the quality of service at hotels and restaurants is declining even as the prices skyrocket. Some accused Turkish businesses of using notoriously high inflation as an excuse to push their prices even higher.

The disgruntled tourists of Turkey could not help noticing that the tantalizing Greek islands have lower prices and better service and, thanks to Turkey’s efforts to mend diplomatic fences with Greece, a fast-track visa program between the two countries was launched in March. Turkish citizens can now visit the beautiful and affordable Aegean islands with an easy-to-obtain temporary visa.
But go home
Both Turkish and Greek officials knew tourism to Greece would benefit from the visa program, but they underestimated how much it would improve as Turkish inflation soared. Turkish travel agents told Fortune that tourism to Greece has nearly quadrupled over the past year. Greece is thinking about pumping the brakes a little because the Aegean is beginning to resemble a parking lot for cruise ships.

“With interest rates at 50% and inflation above 70%, people are in shock. We’re all getting poorer,” an unhappy Turkish restaurant owner told Fortune.

Kivanc Meric, chair of the Izmir Regional Representative Board of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), told Euronews Travel on Monday the problem was exacerbated when “the Turkish government took steps to suppress foreign currency.”

“This has led to the overvaluation of the Turkish lira in this inflationary environment. Therefore, in the domestic market, our citizens have the chance to go abroad at a lower cost. At home, the price of hotels remains high,” Meric said.

“I have to say that there is a serious problem in Turkey’s foreign tourist numbers as well,” he added. “While Turkey was in a leading position in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean basin, with its service and hotel quality, it has lost this position due to its price disadvantage.”

Turkey’s Daily Sabah optimistically countered on Tuesday that tourist spending in Turkey more than doubled during the first quarter of 2024.

“The strong tourism data came despite soaring costs amid stubbornly high inflation, which currently runs at slightly above 70% and is estimated to continue falling in the upcoming months after entering long-awaited disinflation in June,” the article gushed.

The Daily Sabah portrayed the data as a strong rebound from the doldrums of the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic:

In the first quarter, the largest share of total travel expenditures went to food and beverages, at 33.3%; transportation, at 28.8%; and accommodation, at 10.9%. According to the rate of change of trip expenditures compared to the same quarter of the previous year, it was observed that there were increases of 91.4% in eating and drinking expenditures, 80.8% in transportation expenditures and 127.3% in accommodation expenditures.

Foreign arrivals hit a record 49.2 million in 2023, up from 44.6 million tourists who arrived in 2022, with trips from Russia and Europe, driven by Germany, spearheading the increase. Combined with nearly 7.5 million Turkish citizens living abroad, the figure stood at 56.7 million.

Tourism income climbed to an all-time high of $54.32 billion, compared to $46.48 billion in 2022.

CNBC noted last week that while inflation has been crushing for working-class Turks, and vexing for foreign visitors, Erdogan’s economy has delivered a remarkable 157-percent increase in wealth over the past year for those who own assets such as real estate.

“If inflation is very high, what tends to happen is that if you have a real asset like housing, the house prices tend to rise in line with inflation, if not even faster. So those people with have homeownership, or who have equities, which also tend to perform fairly well in those environments, they tend to see their wealth accumulate a bit faster,” explained UBS Global Wealth Management economist Samuel Adams.

“Of course, it doesn’t mean that everybody benefits to the same extent. If you’re not in those assets, if your wage rises don’t keep pace with inflation, then, of course, it will be fairly negatively affected,” he added.

UBS chief economist Paul Donovan noted that being “asset-rich” may not be much of a comfort for “cash-poor” Turkish citizens struggling to feed their families.

“A lot of the stresses that have arisen in the Turkish economy over the last few years have come about because of negative real income, not necessarily what’s happening on the asset side,” Donovan said.

Bloomberg News reported in June that Erdogan’s policies were arguably successful at lifting millions of his citizens out of poverty over the past two decades, but now high inflation is clubbing their standard of living back down. Foreign investors are eager to buy into the asset-rich economy Erdogan created, while working people put in long hours just to afford groceries.

“We are the ones forced to swallow the bitter pill. I am not buying the lies about the so-called turnaround in the economy. I don’t feel it in any way. Maybe foreign investors do,” grumbled 54-year-old secretary Elif Bulut, who got to retire early thanks to one of Erdogan’s madcap vote-buying giveaway programs during his frantic re-election campaign, only to discover she had to return to work and put in ten-hour days to afford food.

A big part of the problem is that Erdogan went wild with spending binges and loose monetary policy to win re-election but then installed more sober economic management once his two-decade grip on power was secure.

The central bank raised loan and credit card rates, pulling the rug out from under working-class Turks. Spending cuts and tax increases could be next on the fiscal reform menu. Erdogan usually mutes public discontent with rising costs of living by raising the minimum wage, but in the current Turkish economic environment, the effects of minimum-wage hikes disappear in a matter of months.

Politico Europe predicted in June that the “end of Erdoganomics” is at hand. The authoritarian Turkish president is gambling heavily on a big economic turnaround in the fourth quarter, with promises that inflation will sink to single digits.

“Some friends should not make the mistake of thinking whether the president is going through a big change in interest rate policies. I am the same here. We have worked with a low interest rate, low inflation theory. I still work with the same understanding,” Erdogan insisted when asked if his new economics team represented a reversal of his weird economic theories, which are partly based on Islamic laws that treat loaning money with interest as usury.

IRGC navy confiscates Indian/Sri Lankan tanker carrying smuggled fuel
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has confiscated a tanker carrying a huge amount of smuggled fuel in the Persian Gulf waters.

All 12 crew members with Indian and Sri Lankan nationalities were also arrested.

The second naval zone of the IRGC said in a statement on Monday that the vessel with the flag of Togo was carrying over 1.5 million liters of smuggled fuel.

The Belt Guse tanker was seized off the coast of the southern port city of Bushehr. It was smuggling fuel in an "organized way."

Late in January, the IRGC Navy also confiscated a foreign tanker carrying two million liters of smuggled fuel in the southern waters.

The IRGC Navy has been using state-of-the-art detection tools over recent years to monitor all movements in the Persian Gulf and maintain the security of the marine route.

It has over the past years foiled several attacks on both Iranian and foreign tankers in the strategic Persian Gulf region and other high seas.

RSF supporters shared videos on social media depicting the takeover, amid reports of army casualties. This marks the RSF’s first operation in Sennar State since the death of their sector commander and the appointment of a successor.

In a separate incident, RSF forces attacked the village of al-Halba in White Nile State, storming its market in an apparent attempt to reach the city of al-Duwaym, a strategic location on the White Nile River.

The RSF’s recent gains build upon their June offensive, which saw them capture most of Sennar State, including the capital Singa and several strategic areas. The Sudanese army currently maintains control over only the city of Sennar.

Hamas announces 'national unity' deal with Palestinian rivals
[GEO.TV] Hamas announced Tuesday it had signed an agreement in Beijing with other Palestinian organisations including rivals Fatah to work together for "national unity", with China describing it as a deal to rule Gaza together once the war ends.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who hosted senior Hamas official Musa Abu Marzuk, Fatah envoy Mahmud al-Aloul and emissaries from 12 other Palestinian groups, said they had agreed to set up an "interim national reconciliation government" to govern post-war Gaza.

  • But this is far from the first time the rival groups have signed reconciliation pacts, only to return to hostilities due to persistent disagreements.

  • The development is significant for China, which has increasingly moved to expand its role in international diplomacy.

Chinese state media hailed the agreement, saying it was signed by 14 Palestinian factions, while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called it a “historic moment for the cause of Palestine’s liberation.”

But this is far from the first time that Hamas and Fatah have signed reconciliation pacts, only to return to hostilities due to persisting disagreements.

“Before everyone gets excited and files a batch of stories about China as the Middle East’s new diplomatic power: a reminder that, since 2006, Hamas and Fatah also signed reconciliation agreements in Algiers, Cairo, Doha, Mecca and Sana’a, none of which actually reconciled them,” Gregg Carlstrom, author of the book “How Long Will Israel Survive? The Threat From Within,” wrote in a post on X.

While statements following the talks highlighted the signatories’ consensus on building an interim unity government that would be established with China’s support, long-time observers of the region noted that meetings and declarations will not determine success for the diplomatic efforts.

“Since 2007, there have been numerous rounds of negotiation and even provisional agreements aimed at reconciliation but they have all failed,” Taufiq Rahim, principal at 2040 Advisory and author of “Middle East in Crisis & Conflict: A Primer,” told CNBC.

“The devil is not in the details but the implementation,” he said. “Given the many uncertainties on the ground and the upcoming US elections the deal could be upended easily.”

China has increasingly moved to expand its role in international diplomacy, making world headlines in March of 2023 when it helped broker a historic normalization agreement between then-adversaries Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Hodeidah port operational again after recovering from Zionist bombing
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The governor of Hodeidah province, Muhammad Ayyash Quhim, announced on Monday the resumption of work in the port of Hodeidah, which was subjected to Israeli hostile raids last Saturday that targeted fuel tanks and the Hodeidah power station.

The governor, while accompanying the Minister of Transport in the Sana’a government, Abdul-Wahab Al-Durra, confirmed that work in the port is proceeding at a high pace over a 24-hour period after civilian facilities were bombed.

He praised the role of the Ministry of Transport, the Hodeidah Ports Corporation, the Civil Defence Department, the Fifth Military Region Command, and all workers at the port for their great efforts.
That’s one perspective. Here is another:

Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump 44% to 42% in US presidential race: survey
God help us all!
[GEO.TV] With the US presidential elections having come closer, Vice President Kámala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, then a senatrix from California former 2020 Dem presidential hopeful, and Joe Biden's wing nut, Joe's intended successor'...
opened up a marginal two-percentage-point lead over Republican Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...
after President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. This Is A Man That Does Not Seem Demented...
ended his re-election campaign and passed the torch to her, a Rooters/Ipsos poll found.

The poll, conducted on Monday and Tuesday, followed both the Republican National Convention where Trump on Thursday formally accepted his party's nomination and the Biden announcement on Sunday he was leaving the race and endorsing Harris.

Harris, whose campaign says she has secured the Democratic nomination, led Trump 44% to 42% in the national poll, a difference within the 3-percentage-point margin of error.
In other words, the difference is probably meaningless. One need look at other polls taken at the same time, and then several polls done over weeks or months to know if this single poll is representative or a fluke.
Harris and Trump were tied at 44% in a July 15-16 poll, and Trump led by one percentage point in a July 1-2 poll, both within the same margin of error.

While nationwide surveys give important signals of American support for political candidates, just a handful of competitive states typically tilt the balance in the US Electoral College, which ultimately decides who wins a presidential election.

The most recent poll results underscored the rationale for Biden dropping out of the race and for Harris replacing him on the ticket.

Some 56% of registered voters agreed with a statement that Harris, 59, was "mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges," compared to 49% who said the same of Trump, 78.

Only 22% of voters assessed Biden that way.

That’s one poll. Real Clear Politics has more here, and most of them have President Trump up slightly.

#5  I listen to Rich Baris he points out that there are three of the “polls” that subscribe to the same data set. They weight the data differently and publish different portions of the questions, but it is the same underlying data for those three. The panel for that data set is not very accurate. It will also appear to be different data because of the different weights used. In the end aggregating those three polls is not statistically valid.

Government Corruption
DOJ Discovers Transcripts of Biden's Biographer Interviews It Previously Denied Existed
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) admitted Monday — the day after Biden dropped his reelection bid — it possessed transcripts of Biden’s interviews with his biographer after months of denying those transcripts existed.

The DOJ told a federal Judge Monday it had located transcripts of Biden’s chats with his biographer Mark Zwonitzer months after the conversations fell under the national spotlight, reported Politico.

Special counsel Robert Hur, appointed to investigate Biden’s retention of classified documents, invited scrutiny to the interviews after revealing in his March 2024 report that he would not bring charges against Biden in part because Biden was “a well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” Republicans sought transcripts of the Biden and Zwonitzer conversations — as well as audio recordings of Hur’s interrogations of Biden.

Biden’s DOJ has fought efforts to turn over recordings, which Republicans have argued could reveal more than the transcripts about Biden’s mental state.

Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate with Donald Trump amplified concerns from Republicans and Democrats on Biden’s capabilities. Biden ended his reelection bid Sunday after three brutal weeks of pressure from Democrats who feared his ability to run a campaign and defeat Trump in the aftermath of the debate.

Fifth Column
Lefty mob floods U.S. Capitol ahead of planned ''Day of Temper Tantrum Rage'' against Netanyahu's visit to Congress
[X] Sounds like an insurrection, dunnit?
Courtesy of Skidmark, Breitbart adds:
A group of anti-Israel protesters filled the rotunda inside the Cannon House Office Building on Tuesday to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s forthcoming speech to Congress.

The group, Jewish Voice for Peace,
…that particular anti-Zionist Jew-hating tentacle of the anarcho-communist Black Bloc that identifies as having a Jewish voice rather than actually being Jewish, even if a few of them legitimately trained as rabbis before finding their calling in the violent overthrow of civilization. They are primarily funded by the Tides Foundation, which receives a substantial amount of funding from the Soros Open Society Foundations, the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, the Rockefeller Fund, etc….
has a record of rhetorical support for anti-Israel terror. It has invaded Capitol office buildings before.
Invasions go beyond mere rhetorical support…
Large protests are expected at the Capitol for Netanyahu’s speech to a special joint session of Congress on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m.

NBC News reported on preparations for large protests:

Forklift diesel engine hums were drowned out by deafening rings of steel barricades clanking together as the sun set over Washington, D.C., on Monday. Despite an unexpected heavy rainstorm, laborers wearing bright yellow reflective safety vests worked in a well-orchestrated rhythm to unload flatbed trucks carrying thousands of metal gates.

The barriers are intended to control thousands on Wednesday in what is anticipated to be an intense series of anti-Israel protests on Capitol Hill.
and this is not a known threat how
U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) told The National Desk (TND) Tuesday morning that they have been working urgently to ensure they are prepared for a likely unprecedented number of demonstrators.

Reuters reported:

Police expect a “large number of demonstrators” and were making additional security arrangements but said there were no known threats.
I hope they do better than the USSS, for which, once, there was no higher standard.
A coalition of groups is expected to participate in the protests, among them ANSWER
…they used to call themselves International ANSWER, back when they were shouting about the second Iraq war, but I suppose that sounded too much like COMINTERN…
(an acronym for “Act Now to Stop War and End Racism”), women-led peace and human rights group Code Pink
... a U.S. anti-war group. The group describes itself as a women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities. It was founded in 2002 by Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin and of the other usual antiwar suspects. Its website lists hysterical allegations of US war crimes, and states that thousands of civilians were killed in Fallujah in 2004. Maybe it was millions. Benjamin was a 2000 candidate for the U.S. Senate on the Green Party ticket. She lost...
…Jodie Evans’ husband is Sri Lankan-American tech centimillionaire (or perhaps multi-billionaire by now) Neville Roy Singham, He’s been a Maoist Black Nationalist from childhood— which is some trick considering he is half Asian and half white — and one of his current projects is The People’s Forum, which has co-organized a large number of post 10/7 pro-Hamas protests …
Palestinian groups such as Palestinian American Community Center and Jewish groups including Jewish Voice for Peace.

CodePink told Reuters organizers had arranged buses for human rights advocates to come to Washington from numerous states across the country.

Protesters will be joined by congressional staffers, including staffers for Democrats who have been rallying and signing petitions to oppose Israel’s war of self-defense in Gaza since the Hamas terror attacks of October 7.

Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs declares former editor-in-chief of Izvestia in Ukraine Yanina Sokolovskaya wanted
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] On July 23, Russia put Yanina Sokolovskaya, former editor-in-chief of the Izvestia na Ukraine portal, on the wanted list. This is evidenced by the wanted list data on the website of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

It is reported that Sokolovskaya has been placed on the wanted list under an article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, on July 26, 2023, the Russian Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against Sokolovskaya on charges of disseminating fakes about the Russian Armed Forces. The agency explained that since May 2022, Sokolovskaya had been publishing deliberately false information on her Telegram channel about the actions of the Russian military against civilians in the SVO zone.

On the same day, security forces conducted a search in the Moscow apartment that Sokolovskaya rented until July of last year.

Sokolovskaya supported the coup d'etat in Ukraine in 2014. The journalist has repeatedly participated in Russian TV shows. In 2019, host Sergei Mikheyev kicked Sokolovskaya out of the studio after she made offensive remarks about those killed in the Odessa Trade Union House during the show "Who's Against?"

Graphic video shows Thomas Crooks dead moments after Trump assassination attempt, confirms Secret Service was warned
[NYP] Shocking new footage shows local cops and a Secret Service agent standing over the dead body of would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks
…age 20 and proud community college graduate with an associate degree in engineering, gamer, probably schizophrenic, seriously bipolar, or that extraverted version of clinical depression that leads to mass murder. The fact that both his parents are therapists did not prevent him acting on it, but they’ve been trying to help the authorities ever since they called the police to report him missing, instead of making excuses…
as they appeared to confirm the 20-year sniper was identified as a suspicious person before he opened fire.

The bodycam video, released by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, shows Crooks’ lifeless body as a pool of blood trails along the roof where he wounded Trump and killed a hero firefighter earlier this month during a Pennsylvania rally.

One man, who appears to be a Secret Service agent, tells a Beaver County Emergency Service Unit officer that Crooks’ body appeared to be the suspicious person who was previously reported to them.

"So this is the guy," the agent says.

Bob Menendez to resign from Senate amid Democratic pressure after guilty verdict
[FoxNews] Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., will resign from the Senate after significant pressure from Democrats to do so following a guilty verdict in his federal corruption case.

A resignation letter from the senator was entered into the congressional record on Tuesday by Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., who was acting as chair of the Senate.

Menendez informed Gov. Phil Murphy, D-N.J., that he would be resigning after Aug. 20 in the correspondence, which was obtained by Fox News.

"While I fully intend to appeal the jury's verdict, all the way and including to the Supreme Court, I do not want the Senate to be involved in a lengthy process that will detract from its important work," he wrote, likely in reference to a recently launched Ethics Committee review and potential efforts to expel him.

The New Jersey Democrat was found guilty on all 16 counts last week, which included charges of extortion, bribery, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, wire fraud, and acting as a foreign agent. The trial lasted nine weeks and the jury deliberated for three days before reaching a verdict.

The New Jersey senator has served in the chamber since 2006 and was re-elected twice. Before being a senator, Menendez served for several terms in the House of Representatives.

"I am proud of the many accomplishments I've had on behalf of New Jersey, such as leading the federal effort for Superstorm Sandy recovery, preserving and funding Gateway and leading the federal efforts to help save our hospitals, State and municipalities, as well as New Jersey families through a once in a century COVID pandemic," he said in the Tuesday letter. "These successes led you, Governor, to call me the ‘Indispensable Senator.’"

In 2015, Menendez was indicted on charges of conspiracy, bribery, and honest services fraud in relation to gifts from a wealthy ophthalmologist who the government alleged he was doing political favors for in return. However, a mistrial was declared in 2017 when jurors could not agree on a verdict. By 2018, prosecutors said they would not seek to retry the senator.

Petty motive revealed in horrific, caught-on-camera shooting of Philly baby
[NYPOST] The horrid, caught-on-camera shooting of a 7-month-old baby in Philadelphia was sparked by a mere $100 drug debt, according to cops.

Dominique Billips, 28, was arrested a day after footage showed a woman opening fire on the infant and his parents outside a home, shouting, "F—k your baby, bitch!" as the teen mom screamed in horror.

"Sometimes the things we see are mind-boggling," Lt. Dennis Rosenbaum told a presser, according to USA Today.

"You knew they had a stroller, what makes you walk up to someone with a stroller and shoot them?" Rosenbaum asked of the "very disturbing" attack.

When cops arrived to investigate reports of the shooting Thursday, the victims had already left.

They only realized a baby had been shot in the leg when the family turned up at a local hospital — and then told officers that the shocking violence stemmed from a $100 "narcotics debt," the police spokesperson said.

"The mother and father... left the location because of fear from police because of outstanding warrants," Rosenbaum said.

Suspect, a heavy-set black female with long dreadlocks, running from the scene after shooting a seven-month-old baby in the leg.

The baby’s father is thought to have been the gunwoman’s target — and the mother and baby "just got wrapped up into it," Rosenbaum said.

A person standing next to a cycle of violence on Meridian Street, site of a scene of the crime where a seven-month-old was shot.

"You see in that video, she really points the gun at the mother of the baby, who’s also a juvenile, and fires. Luckily, she missed," Rosenbaum said.

"A 7-month-old baby isn’t going to remember that, but it’s always going to be out there. That story’s always going to be out there," Rosenbaum said of the baby, who has since been discharged from the hospital.

The attacker shot the baby in the leg in northeast Philly.
Philadelphia Police

Billips was recognized as the victim of a previous shooting. She was taken into custody without incident on Friday and charged with aggravated assault and firearm offenses.

Afghanistan
Terrorists in Afghanistan also pose threat to China, Iran: Pakistan
[GEO.TV] Pakistain reiterated its call for the interim government in Afghanistan to take steps against terrorist groups holed up on its soil, stressing that such murderous Moslem outfits pose a threat to the neighbouring countries including Pakistain.

"Terrorism emanating out of Afghanistan is a concern not only for Pakistain but other neighbouring countries like China, Iran, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan as well," Ambassador Asif Durrani, Pakistain’s Special Representative on Afghanistan said, addressing a roundtable discussion on the "Pak-Afghan Relations: Challenges and Opportunities" at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS
...the Internal Revenue Service; that office of the United States government that collects taxes and persecutes the regime's political enemies...
) on Tuesday.

"Pakistain desires peace and stability in Afghanistan," a statement quoted him as saying.

Ambassador Durrani's remarks came as Pakistain has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, especially in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban
...the once and current oppressors of Afghanistan...
returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

A day earlier, the Pakistain Army killed three bully boyz while they were trying to infiltrate the Pak-Afghan border in the Dir district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Moreover, two terrorist attacks took place last week, one in DI Khan and the other in Bannu. Two soldiers and five civilians were martyred in DI Khan while eight other soldiers were martyred while trying to foil a terrorist infiltration into the Bannu Cantonment in the wee hours of July 15.

At the roundtable moot, Ambassador Durrani said that Pakistain sought socioeconomic and political conditions in Afghanistan that would facilitate the return of over three million Afghan refugees currently residing in Pakistain.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Jill Biden Heading To The Olympics And Ditching Her Husband Amid The Most-Embarrassing Moment Of His Career
[Outkick] President Joe Biden is in the middle of the most embarrassing moment of his political career, but his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, has had a trip to the Olympics in Paris on the books for quite a while, and she simply can not miss it.
The poor dear will never again be able to travel in such style and on the public dime. And when she gets back she’ll be in charge of the care and feeding of a spouse who is only going to get worse — and will never be able to pay off all those mortgages.
Joe Biden officially announced that he will not be running for re-election in 2024 on Sunday afternoon, less than a month after he embarrassed himself on the debate stage with former President Donald Trump. That debate showed a frail, unfit Biden that most folks with eyes, ears and a brain have been clamoring about for years.

The debate showed the elites in the Democratic party just how bad things are between the President's ears, and the push to get him to drop out of the race began seconds after he stepped off of that stage in Atlanta. It all came to a head Sunday when he announced he wouldn't be seeking re-election via a post on social media.

Despite her husband's life being turned upside down and every (reputable) news organization in the world talking negatively about the President, Dr. Jill sees this moment as a perfect time for a vacation to Paris.

The White House released a statement Monday announcing that Jill Biden will be headlining the presidential delegation headed to Paris for the Games and will be present for Friday's opening ceremony.

Armed guards on container ship open fire on 'Houthi kamikaze sea drone', which kabooms beautifully
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] This is the heartstopping moment armed guards on a container ship opened fire on an apparent Houthi kamikaze sea drone before it explodes in a huge fireball. The video, posted to X by Navy Lookout, shows the large cargo ship sailing through the foggy Red Sea before the alleged Houthi kamikaze drone boat filled with explosives speeds towards it. The small unmanned speedboat, believed to be remote controlled by Houthi rebels is seen ripping through the water while the Ukrainian crew onboard the boat gear up to launch their counterattack.

It is not clear where or when exactly the footage was captured, and the ship has not been named.

In the clip, two armed crew members,
crack shots
donning protective gear, raise their firearms while another films the tense scenes on a mobile phone. After crouching and aiming through a the ship's metal railing, one of the crew strikes a clear shot at the quick boat before it erupts in an orange blaze. The massive explosion sends thick black clouds billowing into the sky as the Ukrainian ship continues is journey onwards, leaving the smoking remains of the apparent Houthi drone in its wake.

This is not the first incident of its kind to take place in the Red Sea in recent weeks, however, as just last month a video emerged on social media showing a Houthi USV striking a 750ft Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned cargo carrier.

And though the Iranian-backed rebel group has routinely attempted USV attacks after launching their assault on shipping in November after the Israel-Hamas war broke out, this incident marked the first time they managed to successfully strike a vessel.

The M/V Tutor had been sailing through steady waters before the vessel's security crew noticed a small boat whizzing towards them at speed. The Houthi USV appeared to have dummies on board, with the Ambrey maritime security firm stating: 'Inspectors found three electronic switches connected to 25kg of C4 explosives – approximately 33.5kg of TNT equivalent, and 50kg of TNT,' on the boat.
If the boat blew...how did they know about any ordinance or electronics?
But security personnel aboard the cargo carrier appeared to take no action against the USV, as seen in footage. One crew member watched on through a pair of binoculars while two guards held their firearms pointing skywards instead of towards the small boat. The trio watched the USV steadily approach for around 30 seconds and the video cut out before the explosive impact. It did, however, capture the security personnel making a mad dash to the bridge and the panicked crew trying to figure out their next move.
No protocols?
The Yemeni militant group has been using kamikaze drone boats for several years, and pioneered the operational use of kamikaze USVs. Most notably, in 2017, an unmanned explosive-laded Houthi USV struck Saudi frigate Al Madinah in the first confirmed use of the drone boat weapon.

Former US Navy vice admiral and Directory of Navy Staff told DefenseNews at the time that he was concerned about the weapon 'being in the hands of the Houthis'.

'That's not an easy thing to develop. There have been many terrorist groups that have tried to develop that, it's not something that was just invented by the Houthis. There's clearly support there coming from others, so that's problematic,' he said.

But despite continued efforts by the US and allies to take down Houthi drones and USVs, they have been ramping up their shipping attacks.

The months-long US-led campaign in the region has seen the Navy face its most-intense maritime fighting since World War II
eh?
, with near-daily attacks targeting commercial vessels and warship. Just two days after the Tutor was hit, they targeted M/V Verbena, a Ukrainian-owned cargo carrier in two separate attacks, CENTCOM stated.
Oh!
The Houthis have maintained that their attacks target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain. However, many of the ships they've attacked have little or no connection to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.

A recent report by the US Defense Intelligence Agency said that container shipping through the Red Sea has declined by 90 per cent since December because of the attacks. As much as 15 per cent of the world's maritime traffic flows through that corridor.

'It is deplorable that innocent seafarers are being attacked while simply performing their jobs, vital jobs which keep the world warm, fed, and clothed,' the shipping industry said in a joint statement last month.

'This is an unacceptable situation, and these attacks must stop now,' it said.

#1  'That's not an easy thing to develop.

I dunno. It's not rocket surgery. Seems like something 1st year engineering students could manage, or even clever high school nerds. You will need to write some custom code, but essentially you are integrating of-the-shelf components - single-board computers computers for management and control, a radio, a drone controller for GPS and waypoints, a camera with computer vision algorithms for target acquisition and homing, servos and motor controllers, etc.

It sounds like a fun project, maybe even better than building autonomous drug-smuggling submarines.

'This is an unacceptable situation, and these attacks must stop now

Yeah? So what are you going to do about it, assuming the moral authority of the DIA is not enough to convince the miscreants to stop?

British Army Chief Walker Calls on West to Prepare for War in Three Years
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Due to the growth of international tensions, Western countries should prepare for war in three years.
Si vis pacem, para bellum. And about time, too. Ditto for the American military, of course. Israel has to do so while fighting the current war, but that’s been so since the 1920s.
This statement was made on July 23 by the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, General Roly Walker, his words were quoted by The Guardian.

Walker said Britain and its allies needed to be prepared to "deter or fight a war in three years' time".

The Chief of the General Staff of the British Land Forces called such a development possible due to the allegedly growing threat to Taiwan from China and Iran's developments in the nuclear sphere.

He added that an armed conflict with China, Iran or Russia could result in a “significant detonation” in other theatres of military operations.

As reported by IA Regnum, on July 21, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the West is preparing for a direct armed conflict with Russia much faster than the East, Moscow and Serbia believe. At the same time, he specified that Western countries are not yet ready to wage such a conflict.

On July 17, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that NATO is already preparing for possible military action with the Russian Armed Forces. According to him, a Russian victory in the conflict in Ukraine would allegedly bring closer a potential clash between Russia and the alliance.

On July 22, the press secretary of the head of state Dmitry Peskov commented on Vucic's words about the West's active preparations for war with the Russian Federation. The Kremlin representative specified that NATO continues to advance its infrastructure to the Russian borders, which poses a danger to Russia.

Russian officials have repeatedly pointed out that Moscow has no reason to fight NATO. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow and the alliance have no territorial claims against each other. The head of state also emphasized that a full-scale conflict between Russia and NATO would put the world on the brink of World War III.

Sixth-generation fighter jet concept unveiled in UK
Engineers from BAE Systems (UK), Leonardo (Italy) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Japan) presented the concept of a sixth-generation fighter. This is stated in a statement published on July 22 on the official website of the Italian company.

The Eurofighter Typhoon multirole fighter of the Royal Air Force
"The UK, Italy and Japan will showcase the significant progress they have made in developing the next generation of combat aircraft," the press release said.

It is noted that the conceptual model of the fighter, which received the working name Tempest, presented at the Farnborough International Airshow, is distinguished by a large wingspan, which will improve the aerodynamic performance of the aircraft, the design of which the company called "more advanced."

In the process of designing and developing the future combat aircraft, engineers use advanced and innovative technologies, including computer modeling methods and virtual reality.

As the managing director of the British defense company BAE Systems, Herman Claesen, indicated, industrial development is planned to be completed by 2025, and the introduction of the new generation fighter into service by 2035.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, in January 2024, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Bondarev stated that Russian fighter aircraft are constantly being improved. In addition, Russia is working on a project for a sixth-generation MiG-41 interceptor fighter. The new-generation fighter will incorporate various innovative technologies, including stealth technologies, highly integrated network capabilities, and smart coverage.

British Defence Minister points out serious problems in the country's army
The British Armed Forces are facing a number of very serious problems. This was stated by British Defense Secretary John Healey at a conference of the British Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). His words were quoted by the Sky News TV channel.

UK Defence Secretary Says Morale, Personnel Crisis Low in UK Armed Forces
He noted that the problems are much more serious than the Labor Party, which came to power in the kingdom in early July, had previously thought. The head of the department emphasized that all three components of the armed forces - the ground, naval and air forces - are facing difficulties.

“These include the consequences of the reduction of core forces, and the irrational spending in procurement, and low morale, and the crisis in recruitment and retention of personnel, and the problems of veterans who cannot get the services they deserve,” Healy listed.

According to the minister, a comprehensive review of the United Kingdom's security, defence and foreign policy issues, which is planned to be presented in the first half of 2025, will help find approaches to solving them.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, former director of one of the departments of the British Ministry of Defense Rob Johnson stated on July 1 that the British Armed Forces are poorly equipped and are not ready to participate in military conflicts of any scale. According to him, the kingdom's air defense is unable to stop long-range missiles, and the British Navy does not have enough ships patrolling the North Atlantic to track and deter the activity of Russian submarines.

He stressed that the British army operates on the "absolute minimum" that allows for peacekeeping and humanitarian operations, as well as the evacuation of civilians from combat zones. Johnson believes that the British military will not be able to protect the citizens of their country if necessary.

Healey, in a message to the army published on July 6, said the Conservative government had left Britain's armed forces with a series of problems, including exhaustion and underfunding. He added that the new government was committed to increasing defence spending to 2.5% of GDP.

Earlier, former Royal Tank Regiment officer Stuart Crawford said that the Russian military is capable of destroying British tank forces in two weeks in the event of a direct military conflict. According to him, Britain has a "shamefully small" tank corps. Thus, by 2030, only 148 new Challenger 3 tanks will be put into service.

Refusal of Russian sailing frigate to enter French port called gross violation of rules
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The refusal to allow the Russian frigate Shtandart to enter the port of Brest is a flagrant violation of international rules and a sign of disrespect for sailors. Political scientist and specialist in interethnic conflicts Evgeny Mikhailov expressed this opinion to a correspondent of IA Regnum on July 23.

The head of the Mor Glaz seafarers' aid association, Jean-Paul Elkan, reported that the French authorities have banned the Russian frigate Shtandart from docking in the port of Brest. As a result, the frigate's crew is running out of water, and the situation on board the ship is rapidly deteriorating. Elkan noted that the French authorities have demonstrated their weakness with their decision.

Mikhailov agreed with Elkan and noted that France is losing its subjectivity and is subject to general Russophobic rules. He emphasized that it is France that stands at the origins of general international rules of maritime traffic, port calls, and others. However, this country is now one of the largest violators of these rules. France has demonstrated serious problems in its domestic and foreign policy, the political scientist added.

"There is a multinational team on board the ship, demonstrating friendship between nations. But Western politicians are trying to decide for nations how to communicate and be friends. Russia will not respond to the West in the same way. Russia always welcomes Western ships to its events. However, the West is showing its true face - the lack of desire for reconciliation and playing by previously accepted general rules. After Russia's victory in the special operation, the West will talk completely differently at the negotiating table. Western leaders will strive for Russia to take part in their events. Without Russia, world history is incomplete. It was the Russian Empire that took part in the global formation of countries that are now players in the international arena and oppose Russia. Everything will change after Russia's victory in the special operation," the expert noted.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Russian frigate Shtandart, which is an exact copy of Peter the Great's ship, was banned from mooring in the French port of Brest to participate in the maritime festival. This decision was justified by the EU's restrictive measures against Russia, which also included copies of historical ships.

As the captain of the Shtandart, Vladimir Martus, said, the frigate could previously move freely through the waters of France and Spain. On board is a multinational team, which includes 17 sailors from Russia, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Great Britain, Israel, and the USA.

The head of the Mor Glaz sailors' aid association, Jean-Paul Elkan, said that he had spoken with a pro-Ukrainian association that was seeking sanctions against the frigate. Elkan said that they had no ideology, their only goal was to destroy everything Russian. The head of the association stressed that using this situation to incite hatred was "shameful and scandalous."

Elkan also stressed that what happened once again proves that France is deprived of any power: all decisions for Paris are made by the European Union. The head of the association called the sanctions against the sailors, who were prevented from participating in the international sailing ship festival in Brest and were not allowed to enter the port even for supplies, "unfair and disgusting." He noted that they did nothing wrong, but simply wanted to show off their ship.

The captain of the Russian sailing frigate Shtandart, which was denied entry to the French port of Brest, spoke about the situation on board and the indignation of the Europeans themselves due to the discriminatory situation. According to him, many Europeans are outraged by this decision. The crew will go to court. Now the ship has passed through Biscay, from France they came to Spain in order to find out that the ship is also not allowed into Spanish ports, the captain added. He noted that there are 15 people from seven countries on board, including three teenagers. After a four-day voyage, the crew does not have much food and water left - only for four days. So far, the sailors have not decided where they can go, and are anchored at sea.

After France's refusal, the Russian frigate Shtandart was not allowed into Spain either

The captain of the Russian sailing frigate Shtandart, which was denied entry into the port of Brest, France, spoke about the situation on board and the indignation of Europeans themselves due to the discriminatory situation.

In an interview with IA Regnum, Vladimir Martus said that the frigate has been sailing for 25 years and that it participates in various regattas and festivals throughout Europe, and the main activity on the Shtandart is training in maritime professions. The sailors have never had any problems, but not long ago the European Union extended its sanctions to historical Russian ships. As a result, the prefect of the French city of Brest did not allow the Russian vessel to participate in the largest maritime festival, in which the Shtandart had previously participated.

"Many Europeans are outraged by this decision. We will go to court. Now we have crossed Biscay, from France we came to Spain only to find out that the Spanish ports are not letting us in either," the captain said.

He noted that there are 15 people on board from seven countries, including three teenagers. After a four-day voyage, the crew does not have much food and water left - only for four days. So far, the sailors have not decided where they can go, and are anchored at sea.
I hear Niger is lovely this time of year?
On July 23, it became known that the Russian vessel was not allowed into France. The decision of the port of Brest was criticized by the head of the association for assistance to seamen Mor Glaz, Jean-Paul Elkan. He noted that he had communicated with a pro-Ukrainian association that sought sanctions against the frigate. The head of Mor Glaz said that they have no ideology, but only one goal - to destroy everything Russian. He called the current situation shameful and scandalous.

The Russian frigate Shtandart is an exact copy of Peter I's ship.

'I'm Clapping, You Don't Have To': Chuck Schumer Gives Kamala Harris Solo Round Of Applause
[X]

Courtesy of Skidmark, Breitbart adds:
Another viral clip reveals this was not the only instance of Schumer attempting to get audible support during his presser with Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

Schumer attempted to tout Harris as the next President of United States, pumping his fist.

"Vice President Harris secured a majority of delegates. Today in Wisconsin and across America, we begin our next chapter, and it will be our best yet. Vice President Harris will beat Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
and become the next President of the United States of America," Schumer said. He then pointed to the audience, wagging his finger asking, "Applause?"

After no one clapped, Schumer quickly smiled and called on Jeffries to take his turn after the second awkward moment with no applause for Harris.

According to a YouGov survey taken the day Biden announced he is no longer seeking reelection, just 37 percent believe Harris should be the Democrat nominee, while over one-third, 35 percent, believe it should be someone else. The same survey found that while 60 percent of Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
said Harris should be the nominee, another 40 percent either think it should be someone else or are not sure. The breakdown of that 40 percent shows 21 percent of Democrats saying it should be "someone else," and 19 percent remaining unsure.

Experts explain reasons for [slight] increase in shark sightings along the Gulf Coast following recent attacks
[WKRG] It’s no surprise to many on the Gulf Coast that sharks live in our waters, but two separate shark attacks on the same day just miles apart raised concerns about the rising population of sharks.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office seeks help in identifying burglary suspect
According to Dr. Sean Powers, the director of the University of South Alabama’s Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences, unlike the rise in shark and beachgoer populations, “the incidents of shark attacks hasn’t increased that much.”

SHARK NUMBERS ALONG THE GULF COAST
Dr. Powers said that this time of year — from April to June — the Gulf Coast sees the highest number of sharks in the waters.

“The ones that don’t like warm water are still here, and the ones that are residents are happy and they’re not looking for colder water,” Dr. Powers explained.

Much of what drove the shark population, according to Dr. Powers, is the conservation efforts. He explained the conservation efforts have focused on preventing fishermen from targeting sharks.

#1  A bit about her father. Donald J. Harris:

Contributions to economic analysis and policy
Harris's research and publications have focused on exploring the process of capital accumulation and its implications for economic growth with the aim of proving that economic inequality and uneven development are inevitable properties of economic growth in a market economy.[22] From this standpoint, he has sought to assess the traditions of economic study inherited from the classical economists and Karl Marx as well as modern contributions while engaging in related economic studies of various countries' experience.[2][23]

Harris is said to work in the tradition of Post-Keynesian economics.[24][25] He has acknowledged the works of Joan Robinson, Maurice Dobb, Piero Sraffa, Michal Kalecki, Karl Marx, John Maynard Keynes, Joseph Schumpeter, and W. Arthur Lewis as influences upon his work.[2][26][27][28]

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: July 23, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:04 Slovakia is ready to supply weapons to Ukraine, but only for money, Defense Minister Robert Kalinak said. According to him, the government is against free military aid to Ukraine, but does not limit supplies paid for by Kiev or third countries, since in this case it would "undermine the interests of Slovakia."

20:55 DTEK plans to restore 60-70% of the generation destroyed as a result of Russian shelling by October, provided that there are no new attacks, said the company's executive director Dmitry Sakharuk. He recalled that the company has lost about 90% of its generation in total.

20:51 The task of the Defense Forces now is to ensure by all means the constant effective defeat of Russian troops, their logistics and positions not only at the front, but also throughout the entire depth accessible to our range, Zelensky said in an evening video address: "We are working with partners to increase our level of protection. But while we wait for our partners' decisions, we are looking for our own solutions, our own options for action... Ukraine should eventually achieve maximum defense independence - it is precisely such states that always find it easier to find effective allies and realize their interests."

20:39 Russian troops have built a new military base near Rostov, which they can use to supply Russian combat units, Radio Liberty reports, citing satellite images from Planet Labs. The base is located between a penal colony and two unfinished general education institutions on the site of a military facility abandoned in 2011. The base may belong to the 100th Military Logistics Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces.

19:38 The General Staff confirmed that the Slavyanin ferry was heavily damaged in the Kavkaz port of the Krasnodar region of the Russian Federation. The Russians used this ferry to transport railway cars, vehicles and containers for military purposes. Slavyanin is the third and last railway ferry that the Russian Federation had in this region.

18:41 In January-June, UAH 888.4 billion (57.5% of the total expenditure of the general fund of the state budget) was allocated from the state budget to the security and defense sector, including UAH 155.6 billion in June, the Finance Ministry reported. The funds were used to pay military and police personnel, purchase equipment, weapons, ammunition, defense products, etc.

18:23 On Wednesday, July 24, power outage schedules will be in effect throughout the day, Ukrenergo reported. From 8:00 to 20:00 and from 22:00 to 24:00, one turn of shutdowns will be in effect, and at other times - two turns simultaneously.

17:57 Russia is ignoring Turkey's requests to visit Ukrainian prisoners of war, Turkish Ombudsman Seref Malkoc said. According to him, if there is no response, Ankara also intends to appeal to the UN Secretary General on this matter.

17:40 Kuleba said that he has already arrived in China for a two-day visit. The central topic of the meetings and negotiations will be Russia's war against Ukraine and China's role in resolving the conflict.

17:36 The Russians have gathered more than 90 thousand troops in the Zaporizhia region and continue to transfer forces, said the spokesman for the Tavria group of forces, Dmitry Likhoviy. At the same time, he added that the enemy has not yet formed an offensive group in this direction. "If we take the number of enemy personnel, for example, in the Zaporizhia region itself, then there are quite a lot of Russians here, almost 90 thousand. And there is an increase in this number - somewhere in the last three weeks another two thousand have been added," Likhoviy noted.

17:28 Ukraine is actively working to reduce its dependence on missile supplies from partners, in particular for air defense, Zelensky said following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Headquarters. The meeting also discussed changes in the operational situation, forecasts, further actions, and issues of staffing brigades for timely rotation. "We paid a lot of attention to the ability to strike behind the front line. We analyzed the effectiveness of our drones of various types, as well as the tactics of the Russian army in relation to drones. We assessed the effectiveness of electronic warfare and other methods of combating UAVs," the president added.

In addition, Zelensky reported that he had a meeting with the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to discuss the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, constant air terror, the difficult humanitarian situation, and the results of the meeting with Pope Francis in June in Italy.

16:20 The Financial Times writes that Biden will focus on Ukraine and the Middle East in the final months of his presidency. The publication notes that the decision to drop out of the presidential race has launched a six-month race to consolidate his administration's foreign policy achievements, especially in the Middle East and Ukraine. One of Biden's top priorities will be to ensure the greatest possible support for Ukraine if Trump wins in November.

15:33 Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that Budapest will not approve the allocation of 6.5 billion euros from the EU peace fund for weapons to Ukraine until Kiev resolves the issue of Russian oil transit.

15:17 In July, Ukraine will receive the first 1.5 billion euros in income from frozen Russian assets from Belgium, Shmyhal said. According to him, the funds will be used to purchase the necessary weapons - air defense, artillery shells, as well as to develop the defense industry complex.

14:42 The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision according to which the school year for schoolchildren will begin on September 2 and end on June 30. Shmyhal clarified that regional administrations have been instructed to ensure the organization of the educational process depending on the security situation.

14:34 The National Police clarified that the enemy directed a drone at a family-type home in Marganets, Dnipropetrovsk region, where 12 children lived, three of whom were wounded.

13:58 The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to attract a grant of $3.9 billion from the United States, Shmyhal said. The funds will be used to pay salaries to rescuers, teachers, doctors, and social support programs.

13:29 Russian troops attacked Kherson from a drone, one person was wounded, OVA reported.

13:00 The Verkhovna Rada supported the extension of martial law for 90 days - from August 12 to November 9.

12:44 Peskov stated that Moscow will "respond" to the decision to use income from Russia's foreign assets to purchase weapons for Ukraine, "such thieving actions cannot remain without reciprocity."

12:18 In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian military shot down another Russian Su-25 combat aircraft, which, together with another Su-25, tried to fire at the positions of the Defense Forces units, the Khortytsia OSGV reported.

11:01 Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada bills on extending martial law in Ukraine and conducting a general mobilization for 90 days, that is, until November 9. This will be the 12th vote of the parliament on these issues.

10:53 Boeing and the state enterprise Antonov signed a preliminary agreement on the joint production of unmanned systems for Ukraine. The memorandum refers, in particular, to engineering and logistics support from Boeing, as well as technical maintenance of drones (in particular, Boeing's ScanEagle).

10:25 A ferry ship was attacked at night in the port of Kavkaz, reported the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kondratyev. According to him, there are injured and one dead among the crew members and port employees.

10:19 Over the past 24 hours, July 22, seven reconnaissance UAVs were shot down by air defense in the eastern and southern directions, the Air Force reported.

09:58 At least five separate hit points were recorded at the Morozovsk airbase in the Rostov region after the drone attack, analysts at The Military Watch reported, citing satellite images from Planet Labs from July 22. There may be more hit points, but the quality of the images does not allow them to be assessed. According to preliminary information from researchers, the attack hit a position of an S-300/400 air defense missile system battalion, a Su-34 aircraft parking area, a fighter jet parking area, a fuel depot, and a runway.
