Israel-Palestine-Jordan
At least 19 rockets fired at Israel from southern Gaza, the largest barrage in weeks
[IsraelTimes] Salvoes set off sirens in communities near border and around Kiryat Malachi, some 65 km from Strip; IDF confirms killing deputy head of Islamic Jihad arms manufacturing unit

Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip launched several volleys of projectiles at southern Israel on Friday, marking some of the most intensive rocket fire from the coastal enclave in weeks.

At least 19 rockets were launched from southern Gaza over a few-hour span, trigger warning sirens around the city of Kiryat Malachi — about 65 kilometers (40 miles) from the Strip’s south — and in a number of communities along the border.

There were no reports of injuries and all the rockets either landed in open areas or were downed by the Iron Dome missile defense system, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The IDF later said it carried out drone strokes on the rocket launchers used in the attacks, destroying them.

Meanwhile, the army confirmed Friday that it had killed a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander in Gaza, as fighting raged in the Strip’s south and center, while an Arabic-language report said the IDF recently killed five Hamas leaders in a tunnel under Gaza City.

Mediators in talks with Hamas have expressed dismay at Haniyeh’s killing, saying it could throw a wrench in progress toward a ceasefire-for-hostages deal. However, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has authorized Israeli negotiators to resume talks in Cairo in the coming days.

The IDF also said Friday that troops with the 162nd Division killed more than 30 gunmen in close-quarters combat and by calling in airstrikes in southern Gaza’s Rafah in the past day.

In the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip, where the 252nd Division is deployed, reservists with the division’s Jerusalem Brigade spotted a cell of gunmen emerging from a tunnel, and called in a drone strike, according to the military.

In the same area, amid operations by the Harel Reserve Armored Brigade, an attack helicopter struck a building used as a weapons depot, the IDF added.

An Israeli airstrike killed Muhammad al-Jabari, the deputy head of a weapons manufacturing unit of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad responsible for the unit’s finances, the IDF said Friday. Palestinian media reports said al-Jabari was killed in Gaza City’s Shejaiya neighborhood.

According to the army, al-Jabari “was entrusted with the organization’s production of weapons in the northern Gaza Strip, distribution of salaries and money to the organization’s terrorists, and took an active part in the attempt to restore the organization’s rocket production capabilities and infrastructure.”

The military carried out “many steps” to mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, including using aerial surveillance and precision munitions, the IDF said.

The London-based Arabic newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported Friday that the IDF killed two Hamas politburo members and three military commanders in a recent airstrike on a tunnel under Gaza City.

The report, which cited Hamas sources, named those killed as political leaders Rawhi Mushtaha and Sameh al-Siraj along with three commanders from the group’s military wing, the Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades; Abdul Hadi Siam, Sami Odeh and Muhammad Hadid.

Mushtaha has served as de facto prime minister of the Gaza Strip and is in charge of financial affairs within the Hamas politburo. He reportedly helped establish the Hamas military wing and was arrested by Israel in 1988 before being released in 2011 as part of the Shalit prisoner swap. He is said to be a close confidant of Hamas Gaza chief Yahya Sinwar and is seen as one of the terror group’s most hawkish members.

Siraj has served in the Hamas politburo since 2021 and is also in charge of internal security within the Strip. He reportedly headed a secret intelligence unit operating out of Turkey.

The Hamas sources said the bodies of the assassinated leaders were pulled from the rubble after the most recent bombing in a complicated extraction effort that took several days. They were reportedly buried Thursday night.

According to the report, the tunnel was used by the terror group as a command and control center and has rooms for sleeping, where operatives can hide out for extended periods.

The IDF said in November that it had targeted Mushtaha and Siraj in a tunnel, but was unable to confirm their deaths.

The sources quoted by Asharq Al-Awsat said the strike on the tunnel that killed the Hamas members took place around a week and a half ago, noting the underground hideout was partially damaged in an airstrike at the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza, sparked by the terror group’s October 7 massacre.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry says more than 39,000 people in the Strip have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting so far, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 15,000 combatants in battle and some 1,000 terrorists inside Israel during the October 7 attack.

Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip stands at 331.

Two pro-Iran fighters killed in Deir ez-Zor countryside: Monitor
29-07-2024
[Rudaw] At least two members of an Iran-backed militia were killed and three others were wounded in clashes with alleged Islamic State (ISIS) fighters in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria, a war monitor reported on Monday.

The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that the pro-Iran militiamen were targeted by a group of unidentified assailants, presumed to be ISIS members, while returning from a military base in al-Bukamal countryside’s Salihiya desert.

The wounded have been hospitalized and are receiving treatment, the monitor added. All five militants are Syrian nationals.

ISIS has increased its attacks in Syria in recent months, particularly in the vast expanses of desert where the group launches surprise attacks amid a security vacuum.

In May, five pro-Iran fighters were killed by an improvised explosive device (IED), blamed on ISIS.

Around 400 Syrian army soldiers and affiliated militia members have been killed in ISIS operations in the Syrian desert since the start of the year, including at least 35 pro-Iran fighters, according to SOHR.

Mossad hired IRGC agents in May to plant explosives that killed Haniyeh, at least 2 dozen Iranians arrested

[IsraelTimes] UK daily says Israel planned to kill Hamas chief at Raisi’s funeral 2 months ago but decided on planting bombs in Tehran guesthouse; Iran said to arrest dozens over assassination

The Mossad spy agency enlisted agents from within the Revolutionary Guards to plant explosives in the Tehran guesthouse where Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was staying, according to a Saturday article in The Telegraph and amid reports authorities in Tehran were carrying out a series of arrests in connection with the killing.

The Telegraph report appeared to corroborate a New York Times article that said the Palestinian terror chief was not killed in an aerial strike as Iran has claimed.

Israel has not commented on Haniyeh’s death since the explosion early Wednesday morning, though Iran and its proxies in the region, including Hamas, have vowed revenge on the Jewish state.

The Telegraph cited two Iranian officials as saying that the initial plan was to assassinate Haniyeh when he was in Tehran in May for the funeral of the late Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi, who was killed in a helicopter crash. That operation was reportedly called off due to the large number of people in the building and the seemingly high possibility of failure.

Instead, according to the British daily, the agents went ahead and planted explosives in three different rooms at the compound, and later left Iran. The sources quoted in the report said surveillance footage shows them moving discretely from room to room. They reportedly detonated the bombs from abroad.

“They are now certain that Mossad hired agents from the Ansar al-Mahdi security unit,” an official in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps told the newspaper, referring to a unit tasked with protecting senior officials.

Another IRGC official was quoted as saying: “It is a humiliation for Iran and a huge security breach.” The IRGC runs the guesthouse in an upscale neighborhood of Tehran where Haniyeh and other dignitaries were staying.

“It’s still a question for everyone how this happened, I can’t understand it. There must be something higher in the hierarchy that no one knows about,” the official added, noting that a team was working on a spin that would paint the attack as a lesser security breach.

Both Iranian and Hamas officials have claimed that Haniyeh was killed by a missile fired from the air, even launched from outside the country. But asked about the killing on Thursday, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said the Israeli military did not carry out any other airstrike overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday aside from the assassination of Hezbollah military chief Fuad Shukr in Beirut.

“We struck on Tuesday night in Lebanon and killed Fuad Shukr in an accurate aerial strike. I want to emphasize, there was no other aerial strike, not a missile and not an Israeli drone, in the entire Middle East that night, and I won’t comment further,” Hagari said during a press conference.

Earlier on Thursday, The New York Times had reported that the explosion that killed Haniyeh and his bodyguard was set off by a sophisticated, remote-controlled bomb smuggled about two months ago into his room at the Tehran guesthouse, which lines up with Raisi’s funeral in May.

The official also told The Telegraph that addressing the security breach was more important to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei than seeking revenge, though he reportedly ordered a direct strike on Israel hours after the explosion.

The New York Times reported early Saturday morning that Iran had arrested at least two dozen people over suspected connection to Haniyeh’s death, citing two Iranians familiar with the investigation.

Those arrested were said to include senior Iranian intelligence officers, military officials, and staff at the IRGC-run guesthouse.
Sounds fair. And it looks like they didn’t get even a little bit close to our guys, all codenamed “Mahmoud”.
The Revolutionary Guards Corps’ specialized intelligence unit for espionage has taken over the investigation and was hunting down suspects that it hopes will lead it to members of the assassin team that planned, aided and carried out the killing, two Iranian officials told the Times.

The Telegraph report also suggested that the killing was purposely timed to coincide with the swearing-in ceremony of new Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, which Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend, to besmirch the new premier’s reputation.

“No intact brain can accept that this happened by accident, especially on Mr. Pezeshkian’s first day in office,” a source close to Pezeshkian was quoted as saying. “He may have to go to war with Israel within his first few days in office, and it’s all because of the IRGC.”

Israel pledged to target Hamas leaders over the Iran-backed terror group’s devastating October 7 massacre, which saw thousands of terrorists murder some 1,200 people and seize 251 hostages, mostly civilians, many amid acts of brutality and sexual assault.

Iran and its allies are widely expected to respond militarily to the killings blamed on Israel, though experts have said the retaliation would be measured to avoid a wider conflagration.

The IDF said on Thursday evening that it was on “high alert” and ready to handle any threat, as the country braced for a response to the terror leaders’ assassinations.

The United States, which Iranian and Hamas officials have accused of having approved the Tehran hit, has stressed its commitment to defending Israel against possible ballistic missile and drone attacks from Iran. The Pentagon said on Friday that the US was moving a fighter jet squadron to the Middle East and maintaining an aircraft carrier in the region, both to help defend Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its proxies and to safeguard US troops.

In April, a US-led coalition intercepted dozens of missiles and drones fired by Iran against Israel and helped down nearly all of them.

#2  I love the bomb planted months ahead of time story. But it has a lot of moving parts. A precision missile or drone strike on Hanny's particular room in the building is more believable.

But the Iranians do seem to be freaking out and Mahmoud the Weasel ain't talking.

SDF kills one in ISIS cell raid in Raqqa
28-07-2024
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Sunday announced that its anti-terrorism units, in cooperation with the global coalition, have dismantled an Islamic State (ISIS) cell in northern Raqqa province, killing an operative and arresting another.

The SDF said in a statement that its anti-terrorism units (YAT) conducted a security operation with support from the global coalition, targeting “an ISIS terrorist cell consisting of two terrorists in al-Karamah, east of Raqqa City.

“Supported by Coalition aerial surveillance, our YAT forces raided the hideout of the terrorist cell. One of the terrorists, Abu al-Harith, refused to answer the call for safe surrender and opened fire on our forces who dealt with the situation professionally and eliminated him,” said the SDF, adding that another member, named Saad Salim al-Hamdan, was captured in the raid.

Though the jihadists no longer control any territory, they continue to pose a security risk by carrying out kidnappings, hit-and-run attacks, and bombings, and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), who control Rojava, conduct frequent operations against the group.

The SDF has increased its anti-ISIS operations in recent weeks.

On Saturday, the SDF announced that its forces killed an ISIS operative during a security operation in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province.

al Hol camp: Kurds arrest 7 ISIS turbans, Kyrgyzstan repatriates another 22 nationals
Rojava forces arrest 7 ISIS suspects in al-Hol camp
01-08-2024
[Rudaw] The internal security forces (Asayish) of northeast Syria (Rojava) on Thursday announced the arrest of seven suspected Islamic State (ISIS) members accused of planning terrorist operations in the notorious al-Hol camp.

Al-Hol camp in Hasakah province houses more than 40,000 people with suspected links to ISIS, most of them women and children. This number includes 21,633 Syrians and 17,022 Iraqis, according to the latest figures from the United States-led global coalition against ISIS. About another 2,000 come from other countries around the globe.

Rojava authorities have made an effort to reduce the camp's population. On Sunday, 82 families, consisting of 346 people, left the camp heading for eastern Deir ez-Zor province, according to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Kyrgyzstan repatriates another 22 nationals from Rojava camp
19-07-2024
[Rudaw] Kyrgyzstan’s foreign ministry announced in a statement on Friday that it had “safely” returned 22 people from the notorious al-Hol camp with the help of the United States and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

“The Kyrgyz Republic’s repatriation of 22 women and children from the al-Hol and Roj displaced persons camps in northeast Syria is the second such return of its nationals this year and the sixth repatriation overall since February 2023. We applaud the Kyrgyz Republic for its continued, exemplary action on repatriations, the only durable solution to the humanitarian and security challenges in northeast Syria,” said US State Department spokesperson Mathew Miller.

“In total, the Kyrgyz Republic has repatriated 454 of its nationals since early 2023, all in U.S. assisted operations, including 121 nationals this year, a substantial portion of the nearly 228 non-Syrian or Iraqi third country nationals returned to their countries of origin so far in 2024,” he added.

Miller also said that nearly 27,000 individuals from over 60 countries outside of Syria remain in Rojava’s al-Hol and Roj camps - “most of whom are children under the age of 12 who deserve a chance at life outside of the dire conditions of these camps.”

Al-Hol camp is located in Hasaka province.

Including Syrians, over 40,000 ISIS-linked people are kept in al-Hol, while thousands of others are held in Roj camp.

Yazidi woman, child rescued from ISIS captivity in Rojava
[Rudaw] A Yazidi woman and a child were rescued by Kurdish forces in northeast Syria (Rojava) on Thursday, ending a decade of captivity just days before the tenth anniversary of the Islamic State (ISIS) attack on the Yazidi heartland of Shingal.

Azize Khalil, 25, is from Shingal’s Kocho village. She raised Khunav, who was only two months old when she was kidnapped by ISIS when the group attacked Shingal in 2014. The two were rescued from the notorious al-Hol camp in Hasaka province, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), an all-woman force, said in a statement.

A third Yazidi mentioned by the YPJ in their statement is 24-year-old Tawaf Dawoud Chato from Gir Uzer village in Shingal. The YPJ said they captured her on the Syria-Iraq border when she was trying to escape ISIS. When interrogated by the Kurdish force, she revealed her Yazidi identity.

Chato’s freedom from ISIS captivity has previously been reported.

Hussein Qaidi, head of the Yazidi rescue office, affiliated with the Kurdistan Region Presidency, told Rudaw in June that Chato “arrived in Iraq from Western Kurdistan [Rojava] today.”

He said that Iraqi security forces were keeping her until she returned to her hometown, Shingal.

When ISIS swept through the Yazidi heartland of Shingal in August 2014, committing genocide, the group abducted 6,417 women and children who were forced into sexual slavery and labour. Many have been rescued from al-Hol that houses tens of thousands of ISIS families and supporters.

According to data provided by Qaidi’s office, at least 3,576 of the abducted Yazidis have been rescued so far.

Amnesty International said in a report on Wednesday that Yazidi survivors of ISIS atrocities have been abandoned to indefinite detention at al-Hol camp.

“The Yezidi community suffered unthinkable harm at the hands of Islamic State. Ten years after IS first launched its attack against the Yezidis, their suffering continues today, as thousands remain missing,” said Lauren Aarons, Amnesty International’s senior adviser on gender, conflict and international justice.

“Many Yezidis who were mistakenly swept up following the collapse of IS have been languishing in indefinite detention in dire and life-threatening conditions in north-east Syria. These Yezidis must now be identified, freed and provided with the ongoing support they need,” she added.

IDF eliminates 'significant' Hezbollah terrorist Ali Nazih Abed Ali
[JPost] The Israel Air Force eliminated 'significant' Hezbollah terrorist Ali Nazih Abed Ali of the Hezbollah Southern Front in the area of Bazouriyeh in southern Lebanon, the IDF reported on Saturday afternoon.

Ali was reportedly involved in terror activity on the border with Israel as well as in the planning and carrying out of various other terror activities.

"Abed Ali's elimination represents a significant blow to the capabilities of the Southern Front and to the Hezbollah terrorist organization in the area," the IDF stated.

Iranian regime makes dozens of arrests in relation to Haniyeh's assassination
[JPost] Purge away!
Iran has arrested dozens of suspects in its investigation of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s assassination, The New York Times reported on Saturday. The arrested parties included senior intelligence officers, military officials, and staff workers at the guest house where Haniyeh was killed.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps’ specialized intelligence unit is reportedly running the investigations.

Haniyeh was assassinated in bed on Wednesday, shortly after attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president. Despite initial reports claiming that he had been killed by an Israeli airstrike, sources confirmed that he was killed by an explosive device smuggled into the guest house.

Israel, despite international accusations, has not claimed responsibility for the killing.

WHY IRAN IS RESORTING TO EXTREME MEASURES
Commentators have noted that the assassination of a terrorist leader on Iranian soil may be a massive blow to the regime – indicating to terrorist leaders that residing in Iran will no longer leave them immune to attack.

“The perception that Iran can neither protect its homeland nor its key allies could be fatal for the Iranian regime, because it basically signals to its foes that if they can’t topple the Islamic Republic, they can decapitate it,” Ali Vaez, the Iran director for the International Crisis Group, told the Times.
Insightful of them.
“This security breach requires different policies and strategies; it may be arresting spies if there was infiltration, or retaliation if the operation was conducted from outside the borders, or a combination of both,” Sasan Karimi, a political analyst in Tehran, told the paper.

FOCUSING THE INVESTIGATION
Investigators have reportedly searched months’ worth of surveillance footage at the guest house and are now investigating every visitor who entered the premises.
“Stock up on the mustache wax and pliers, boys — we’ve got work to do!”
In addition to surveilling the property records, sources told the Times that the investigation has also focused on Tehran’s international and domestic airports, where agents have been stationed.

Two sources claimed that Iran believed Mossad assassins were still in the country and the regime was anticipating their capture.

An anonymous IRGC official also told the Times that while he wasn’t aware of any arrests, security protocols had been completely overhauled in the past two days for senior officials. Some senior officials have been relocated, while the electronic equipment of others has been replaced.

#1  Iran says Hamas leader Haniyeh was killed by 'short-range projectile'
Hamas' slain leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in Tehran by a short-range projectile with a warhead of about 7 kg, Iran's Revolutionary Guards said in a statement on Saturday.

Tehran's revenge for the attack will be "severe and (taken) at an appropriate time, place, and manner," said the statement, which blamed Israel - "the adventurous and terrorist Zionist regime" - for his death.

China-Japan-Koreas
Inside China's Largest Civil Disobedience Movement, and Why You Haven't Heard of It: Larry Liu
[ET - American Thought Leaders] In China, a grassroots, underground movement of Chinese has been cutting through the communist regime’s censorship and propaganda machines—one pamphlet at a time.

Since the Chinese communist regime launched a nationwide persecution of the Falun Gong spiritual discipline 25 years ago, Falun Gong’s millions of adherents in China started creating secret underground print shops to expose the regime’s human rights atrocities.

All across China, they secretly distribute flyers, DVDs, and brochures en masse, hang posters in public areas in the dead of night, and circulate software to their fellow Chinese so they can circumvent China’s internet blockade. Those arrested face years in prison—as long as 15 years.

So who are these people? And why is their story critical to understanding China today?

In this episode, I sit down with Larry Liu, deputy director of the Falun Dafa Information Center.

Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

#1  Another example is the issue of organ harvesting. David Matas is one of the leading investigators on forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. Basically, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been harvesting organs from prisoners or those sentenced to death. This has been happening since the 1980s and it’s actually legal in China. However, after the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, there was a massive increase in organ transplants.
Chinese hospitals started doing way more transplants, and this aligns perfectly with the timeline of the persecution of Falun Gong. When hundreds of thousands, or maybe even millions, of people were sent to detention and concentration camps, the world mostly turned a blind eye. In 2006, news about organ harvesting started to emerge with the Huffington Post’s reporting. Many people were skeptical at first, but over the years, more and more evidence has emerged, and gradually people started to believe it.
In 2019, an independent investigation called the China Tribunal was held in London, led by Sir Geoffrey Nice, the lead prosecutor in the Milosevic trial in the 1990s. The China Tribunal spent a year studying all the evidence on forced organ harvesting. In 2019, they concluded that forced organ harvesting has been occurring on a significant scale in China for a long time, with Falun Gong being the primary source of organs.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
IDF bangs a Iranian convoy to Beqaa

Israel said to strike known Hezbollah smuggling area along Syria-Lebanon border late Friday

[IsraelTimes] Source close to Lebanese terror group tells AFP that 3 Israeli strikes targeted convoy of tanker trucks, injuring a Syrian driver

A source close to Lebanese terror group Hezbollah said late Friday that Israel carried out strikes on a convoy of trucks entering Lebanon from Syria.

“Three Israeli strikes targeted a convoy of tanker trucks on the Syrian-Lebanese border in the Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali area, injuring one Syrian driver,” the source told AFP.

It was the latest in a series of Israeli strikes in the border area, the source added. Iran-backed Hezbollah has a strong presence on both sides of the eastern stretch of the Lebanese-Syria border, where it supports the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and has been known to use the area to smuggle Iranian weapons into Lebanon.

Hours before the attack in Hawsh al-Sayyid Ali, media outlets in Lebanon reported an Israeli strike several miles away in the Lebanese village of Qasr.

Separate reports later said the strike targeted the Dabaa Airport in Syria.

Hezbollah has been exchanging near-daily fire with Israel since it started launching attacks from Lebanon a day after its Palestinian ally Hamas’s terror onslaught, which sparked the war in Gaza. Hezbollah has muted its attacks following the killing of its military chief Fuad Shukr in Beirut on Tuesday and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Wednesday.

The Lebanese terror organization group claimed responsibility for five attacks on military positions in northern Israel on Friday.

Since the Hezbollah attacks began on October 8, the skirmishes in the north have resulted in 25 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 385 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing clashes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 69 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.

Kamala's $5B Border Strategy Saw 500K Unaccompanied Migrant Children Shipped to U.S.
[Breitbart] Despite coordinating the investment of more than $5 billion in public and private investments to increase employment opportunities and reduce corruption in Central America, Vice President Kamala Harris’s efforts to stem the flow of migrants across the southwest border have failed miserably. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, more than 500 thousand unaccompanied migrant children arrived at the United States border with Mexico since the Biden-Harris administration took office.

Although the vice president made attempts to distance herself from the unofficial title of “Border Czar,” her role was publicly announced by President Biden during a March 2021 White House briefing, the president assigned the lead immigration role to the vice president during his remarks, stating, “In addition to that, there’s about five other major things she’s handling, but I’ve asked her, the VP, today — because she’s the most qualified person to do it — to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that help — are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border.”

According to CBP, between October 2023 and June 2024, more than 90,000 unaccompanied migrant children were encountered at the southwest border. According to the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), approximately 80 percent of those migrant children were from the same Central American countries receiving the more than $5 billion in investments coordinated by Vice President Harris during her tenure as lead border strategist in the Biden-Harris administration.

During fiscal year 2020, the last full year of the Trump administration, the number of unaccompanied migrant children apprehended at the southwest border was slightly more than 30,000. Immigration enforcement policies enacted under the Trump administration, such as the Migrant Protection Protocols, also known as “Remain in Mexico”, and the Title 42 COVID-19 emergency expulsion program, may have served as a deterrent to parents abandoning their children at the border.

According to a 2020 CBS news report, during May 2020, only 39 unaccompanied migrant children of the 1,001 arrested at the border were not removed from the United States under Trump’s Title 42 Covid removal program. More than 96 percent of all unaccompanied migrant children that month were swiftly expelled from the United States.

Shortly after assuming office, the Biden-Harris administration canceled several Trump-era immigration enforcement policies and prohibited authorities from deporting unaccompanied migrant children under Title 42 except for Mexican nationals. The move to discontinue the removal of unaccompanied children at the southwest border saw the number of encounters for unaccompanied migrant children rise from 1,001 in May 2020 to nearly 19,000 in March 2021, a nearly 2,000 percent increase.

In February 2023, Vice President Harris touted her accomplishment of facilitating more than $3.2 billion in private investments for the three Central American Countries. At a White House press briefing on reducing root causes of migration, Harris told attendees, “This summer, at the Summit of Americas in Los Angeles, I announced that, working with the Partnership for Central America, we generated more than $3.2 billion in investments.”

By March 2024, Harris announced in another briefing her efforts in the Central American Northern Triangle had resulted in investments totaling $5.2 billion to create jobs and stability as an answer to the root causes of migration. Outlining the purpose of her efforts, the lead border strategist told reporters, “These investments are creating jobs, connecting people to the digital economy, expanding access to financing for small businesses, providing training and education for youth, women, and workers, and improving economic livelihoods for people in the region.”

Harris went on to say, “These investments are materializing into tangible opportunities for families and communities across integrated supply chains in Central America and the United States – benefiting students, employees, entrepreneurs, and families – and shaping a model for mobilizing private sector commitments through collective action to drive economic development.”

What the Vice President failed to say, however, is that the creation of jobs has not resulted in any material change in the dismal wages paid by investors moving into the region. The monthly minimum wages in El Salvador have remained unchanged since 2020 and stand at $365 per month, or roughly $12.00 per day. In Honduras, the monthly minimum wage is $327 followed by Guatemala at $436.

It appears the investments coordinated by Harris to improve living conditions for the Central American Northern Triangle countries did little to raise wages or discourage migrant parents from abandoning their children at the U.S. southern border. According to a source within CBP, the practice, on many occasions, allows the parents to enter the United States illegally shortly afterward to claim the child and gain release into the United States.

The move did perhaps allow corporations to take advantage of the dismal wages paid to workers in the region from which, more than $33 billion in products are imported to the United States annually. That total, according to Statista.Com, includes $14 billion in petroleum and related products, $4 billion in vehicles, $4 billion in medical products and medicines, and $3 billion in communications equipment.

Vice President Harris also failed to mention the lax vetting of unaccompanied minors released at the southern border. As reported by Breitbart, in January 2023, authorities arrested an MS-13 gang member suspected of murdering Kayla Marie Hamilton, a 20-year-old with autism, in Aberdeen, Maryland. According to police, Hamilton was strangled by the 17-year-old El Salvadoran migrant who was released as an unaccompanied migrant child at the southwest border. The failure to properly investigate the background of unaccompanied migrant children has allowed some adult migrants to claim juvenile status to secure release.

One such case involves 24-year-old Yery Noel Medina Ulloa of Honduras, who posed as an unaccompanied migrant child to get released into the United States. Authorities allege the migrant was sent to live with a sponsor in Florida whom he later was suspected of killing. Prosecutors in the case allege Ulloa murdered 46-year-old Francisco Javier Cuellar, a father of four, in November 2021.

The vetting for sponsors to care for migrant children released into the United States does not seem to be any more robust, according to some internal agency documents. Earlier this month, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) released internal records revealing the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) sent two unaccompanied migrant children to a household connected to the violent MS-13 gang. Grassley issued a statement on the matter, saying, “The records I’m releasing today are the kind the government fights tooth and nail to withhold from the public, and they ought to send a chill up every person’s spine.”

Grassley went on to say the incident is one of thousands of cases that contain evidence of potential child trafficking.

48 Republican Senators Write to Biden: Lift Partial Arms Embargo Against Israel
[Breitbart] Forty-eight members of the Republican Senate caucus signed a letter Friday to President Joe Biden demanding that he end a “partial arms embargo” against Israel, given the threats the U.S. ally is facing from Iran-backed terrorists.

The letter, whose lead signatories are Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and James Risch (R-ID), demands that Biden lift an arms embargo that he openly admitted he had imposed on the Jewish state in a shocking May interview with CNN.

The only Senator not to sign the letter was Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who opposes most forms of foreign aid to anyone.

According to Middle East expert Michael Doran of the Hudson Institute, the embargo consists of three forms: large bombs that have been deliberately withheld; shipments that have been approved by Congress but which the Biden administration is withholding by not informing Congress that they are ready to be shipped; and arms transactions that the Biden administration is blocking between the State of Israel and private arms manufacturers in the U.S.

Biden hopes to use the partial arms embargo to prevent Israel from moving from defense to offense against terrorists.

Military court extends arrest of former deputy commander of 144th Motorized Rifle Division
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Troubles during a major war in the Russian military high command continues apace.

[Regnum] The 235th Garrison Military Court has extended the arrest for another two months for the former deputy commander of the 144th Motorized Rifle Division for logistics, Colonel Dmitry Peshkov, who is accused of embezzlement during the supply of food rations for the needs of the SVO.

“Extend the period of preventive measures for the accused Peshkov for two months, that is, until October 7, 2024,” the judge announced the ruling.

The court hearing was held behind closed doors at the request of the military investigator, since the criminal case contains information about a special military operation, including an attack on rations for the needs of the SVO.

On the same day, it became known that the colonel was charged with embezzlement as part of the investigation into the criminal case of embezzlement. The criminal case was opened in 2022, a little less than six months after the start of the special military operation.

In addition, on August 1, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow arrested Vladimir Pavlov, CEO of JSC Voentorg, in a case of embezzlement of money during the execution of government contracts. Pavlov did not admit guilt. The property of the defendants in the case was seized. According to the investigation, in 2019–2022, the defendants and employees of JSC Voentorg, together with accomplices, entered into a criminal conspiracy to embezzle funds from the Ministry of Defense. The price of the contracts was inflated by 400 million rubles, the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.

Previously, criminal cases were opened against former Deputy Defense Minister Dmitry Bulgakov, who is suspected of corruption, and the head of the Defense Ministry's personnel department, Yuri Kuznetsov, who is accused of bribery, former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, and the head of the Main Communications Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Vadim Shamarin. Former commander of the 58th Army Ivan Popov is a defendant in a fraud case.

#4  "Food Insecurity" sounds so academic and thought-provoking, but lacks an emotional undertone, as intended.

#5  "Food Insecurity" sounds so academic and thought-provoking, but lacks an emotional undertone, as intended.

HUNGER is a more accurate,

That’s what you are supposed to think, NoMoreBS, and to react emotionally to it. But it’s actually the other way round.

From the USDA:

Ranges of Food Security and Food Insecurity

In 2006, USDA introduced new language to describe ranges of severity of food insecurity. USDA made these changes in response to recommendations of an expert panel convened at USDA's request by the Committee on National Statistics (CNSTAT) of the National Academies. Although new labels were introduced, the methods used to assess households' food security remained unchanged, so statistics for 2005 to now are directly comparable with those for earlier years. The following labels define ranges of food security:

Food Security

High food security (old label = Food security): no reported indications of food-access problems or limitations.

Marginal food security (old label = Food security): one or two reported indications—typically of anxiety over food sufficiency or shortage of food in the house. Little or no indication of changes in diets or food intake.

Food Insecurity

Low food security (old label = Food insecurity without hunger): reports of reduced quality, variety, or desirability of diet. Little or no indication of reduced food intake.

Very low food security (old label = Food insecurity with hunger): reports of multiple indications of disrupted eating patterns and reduced food intake.

Reading further at the link, it is revealed most households labelled food insecure are much more worried about the possibility of food running out in the future than actually going hungry. Less than 20% of those experiencing low food security had actually cut the size of a meal or skipped a meal in the past 3+ months.

#7  Fair enough and thank you, NoMoreBS — your good opinion is well worth having.

I agree that Americans in general are considerably more financially insecure than before Joe Biden was sworn in. And that people are having to make choices that they mostly did not have to before Covid, and even more so since Donald Trump left office — I cannot speak to the details, since Mr. Wife took over the grocery shopping during Covid, but he has mentioned that even with his mad money managing skills (he is much, much better at such things than I, though not close to what his little sister do with a dollar), he spends about double what we used to before.

On the other hand, as a society Americans have long been terrible about saving, so inevitably too many get into financial difficulties when the economy goes south — and then many aren’t willing to downsize until they are in serious trouble. I watched this same discussion following the 2008 housing bubble crisis, the bursting of the dot-com bubble in 2000, and Reagan recession in 1981. Arguably it’s worse this time because the economy was doing so well on Donald Trump’s watch, which seduced more into trusting that the future would be just as secure…

Australia says deadly IDF strike on Gaza aid convoy was result of ‘serious failures’
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli strike that killed seven charity workers traveling in a Gaza aid convoy was the result of “serious failures” such as “mistaken identification,” Australia says a government probe found.

Australian national Lalzawmi “Zomi” Frankcom was among a group of seven World Central Kitchen staff killed in April when their aid convoy was mistakenly hit by an Israeli airstrike.
They’re still going on about that?! I suppost any excuse will do, for some people, even though in this case the victims not only did everything wrong, but they had known Hamas gunnies along as minders while they stole the supplies WCKhad intended for the needy.
The Israel Defense Forces has called the incident a grave mistake which should not have occurred.
Was it too hot on the rooftop that day?
Did the roving patrols get lost?

Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong says Australia will push for full accountability for those responsible, including criminal charges if appropriate.

“The Military Advocate General of Israel is still to decide on further action,” she says in a statement.

“Our expectation remains that there be transparency about the Military Advocate General’s process and decision.”

[NYPOST] Oil giant Chevron is moving its headquarters to Texas from California, the latest company to exit the Golden State.

The company on Friday announced its planned corporate relocation to Houston from San Ramon, where it has long been based.

“The company expects all corporate functions to migrate to Houston over the next five years,” Chevron said. “Positions in support of the company’s California operations will remain in San Ramon.”

Chevron said about 2,000 of its employees work in San Ramon at the moment and 7,000 are located in Houston.

#5  Glenmore is correct. Most functions have already moved. Did a little consulting to Chevron in the early 2000s. Lived about 2 miles from the HQ also. Huge place and the biggest employer around. Moving the HQ officially to another state will have huge tax implications for CA. They finally gave the middle finger to Gov. Nuisance.

US, UK Accelerate Quantum Computing Programs After China Breakthrough
[ZeroHedge] Scientists and politicians in the United States, United Kingdom and European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
are ramping up efforts to advance quantum computing in the West after scientists in China observed what appears to be the world’s first room-temperature time crystals.

A team of physicists hailing primarily from Tsinghua University in China, with contributions from scientists in Denmark and Austria, published peer-reviewed research on July 2 detailing the creation and observation of room-temperature time crystals.

In the month since the paper was published, quantum research labs in the West have announced numerous initiatives to extend existing efforts in the field of quantum computing and to create new research partnerships.

ROOM-TEMPERATURE TIME CRYSTALS
Time crystals are a unique state of matter originally proposed by physicist Frank Wilczek in 2012. They work similarly to other crystals, such as snowflakes or diamonds, which are created when specific molecules form lattice-like bonds that repeat through space.

In time crystals, however, the molecules bond in time. Instead of locking into a crystalline structure that repeats, a time crystal’s molecules flicker back and forth between different configurations like a GIF on a loop.

Back in 2021, an international team of scientists working with Google’s quantum computing lab simulated time crystals using a quantum computer. This breakthrough demonstrated the potential for quantum computers to explore exotic states of matter and set the stage for the convergence of quantum tech and time crystals.

Now, in July 2024, the Tsinghua team appears to have created time crystals at room temperature. This, theoretically, allows time crystal technology to be employed in non-laboratory equipment and could serve as a massive accelerator for the development of useful quantum computers.

QUANTUM COMPUTING
The realization of room temperature time crystals could solve one of the biggest problems in the field: figuring out how to create stable qubits (sort of the quantum version of classical computer bits) that don’t require massive amounts of power and infrastructure to form and maintain.

While perhaps not directly related to the China team’s work, labs and governments around the world — especially in the US, UK and Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
— have signaled renewed interest in quantum computing since the room-temperature time crystals paper was published.

In the US, new initiatives have taken place at the national and state levels, with federal defense department think tank DARPA and the state of Illinois both recently agreeing to commit $140 million each to the development of a new quantum computing center in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
.

Across the pond, on July 31, the UK government announced plans to invest approximately $127 million dollars in the development of five quantum computing research hubs to be led by Oxford University.

On the same day, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology announced a multimillion-dollar partnership with the University of Copenhagen to share research and co-develop quantum computing solutions.

Whitmer asks EPA to temporarily lift climate restrictions on summer fuel
[JustTheNews] In an effort to combat price increases from recent and anticipated fuel supply disruptions, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer asked the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to temporarily waive the state’s requirement that gasoline sold during the summer meet lower emissions standards.
“Pleeeeeease don’t make us live up to the unreasonably high standards we voluntarily set for ourselves!”
“Michigan requests that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issue a waiver regarding reformulated gasoline regulations in Michigan. With a refinery in the region being offline due to unforeseen circumstances . . . precautionary measures must be taken to contain fuel supply disruptions and potential cost increases across the region,” the letter reads.

Michigan has a summer gasoline program outlined by the EPA, which requires the use of cleaner fuel blends and stricter ozone monitoring in the summer months in order for the state to receive federal highway funding dollars.

Due to the weather-instigated shutdown of the ExxonMobil Joliet Refinery in Illinois, which is expected to last until August,
…but it already is August. So now what?
Whitmer sent a precautionary letter to the EPA requesting greater flexibility for fuel use, particularly gasoline.

“With hurricane season in full swing and a refinery outage in Illinois, we must ensure we’re taking all the steps necessary to proactively protect Michiganders’ access to fuel for their cars, homes, and businesses without delay,” Whitmer said in a release. “That’s why I am dedicated to working with the EPA to keep fuel available and affordable for Michiganders by temporarily removing barriers to ensure an adequate and stable fuel supply.”
Ya know….if the Biden administration had just kept President Trump’s support for expanded oil production, shutting down one refinery would not have caused problems.
The average price of gas in Michigan is $3.68 per gallon as of Wednesday, according to AAA, 20 cents more than the national average.

Whitmer’s letter follows a day after another effort to cut fuel prices in Michigan, with Rep. Jason Hoskins, D-Southfield, and Rep. Laurie Pohutsky, D-Livonia introduced House Bill 5896, a measure that would prohibit excessive pricing for energy products like gasoline during times of supply disruptions.
Idiots. They don’t understand basic economics.
The bill is tied with two others that would prohibit the same kind of pricing practices in the hotel industry and regarding consumer items.

Britain
The areas in England where riots have broken out since Southport attack
Riots and unrest have broken out in a number of cities and towns across England after three young girls were murdered in a multiple stabbing at a Taylor Swift-inspired holiday club in Southport on Monday.

Demonstrators have clashed with police in the past 48 hours after violent disorder in the Merseyside town on Tuesday night. Some of the rioters have been heard shouting anti-immigration and Islamophobic slogans.

Flashpoints have broken out in the following places since Monday:
MAP

Southport
Hundreds of rioters descended on the grieving seaside town on Tuesday night, barely 36 hours after a knifeman murdered three girls — Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven — and injured eight other children and two adults at the Hart Space dance and yoga studio on Monday afternoon.

The riots are believed to have been encouraged by disinformation spread online about the identity and motives of the suspect, a 17-year-old boy from a nearby village, who was named on Thursday morning as Axel Rudakubana.

The teenager, who was born in Cardiff, appeared in court on Thursday charged with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Judge Andrew Menary KC said the unrest in parts of the country after the attack was one reason why it was in the public interest for his name to be released.

More than 50 police officers were injured in the riots, which targeted a mosque just a short walk from the scene of Monday’s atrocity.

Hundreds of people took part in the disorder, which lasted for several hours, setting fire to a police van, and damaging cars, homes and businesses.

Five people have so far been arrested by Merseyside police, who said the disorder was organised by sympathisers of the far-right English Defence League, although the group has not had a regular active role in protests for years.

London
More than 100 demonstrators were arrested after clashes with officers in Whitehall on Wednesday night.

During the protest, staged under the title of Enough is Enough, fireworks and flares were let off near a statue of Winston Churchill and towards the gates of Downing Street.

The angry scenes also included loud chants of "We want our country back" and "Oh Tommy Robinson," referring to the rightwing activist whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon.

Hartlepool
A police car was set alight and a mosque came under attack as the unrest spread to Hartlepool, in the north-east of England, on Wednesday night.

Businesses had their windows smashed and police were pelted with eggs, bottles and bricks as a protest that started peacefully turned violent.

Manchester
Demonstrators turned out in large numbers outside a Holiday Inn hotel that was being used to house asylum seekers in Manchester on Wednesday night.

About 40 people, which the paper reported included children and men wearing balaclavas, gathered outside the premises in what the Manchester Evening News said "appeared to be a stand against asylum seekers currently being housed in the hotel".

Two men were arrested after police were assaulted. Crowds were reported to have hurled bottles, rocks and bricks at officers lining the streets and armed in riot gear.

Aldershot
People holding placards with slogans such as "no apartments for illegals" protested outside a hotel in Aldershot, Hampshire, on Wednesday night.

The local MP, Alex Baker, said the demonstration near the Potters International hotel had descended into "intimidating behaviour". Protesters held signs saying: "Deport them, don’t support them."

Baker shared a post on social media that said: "This incident was exacerbated by people from outside our community who came here determined to cause unrest."

Hampshire police said: "There were a smaller minority of individuals who became involved in aggressive behaviour and disorder. Police attended and the group dispersed a short while later."

Can we hope for the return, of the justly famed, English Mobb?

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Kamala is branded a FAKER over this photo of her chatting with Alexey Navalny's widow on an iPhone
Playing at being the president.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Vice President Kamala Harris has been branded a faker over a photo of her chatting to Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny's widow on the phone.

The presumptive Democratic nominee shared the image on social media, explaining that she spoke with Yulia Navalnaya on Thursday amid a historic prisoner swap between the United States and Russia.

Harris made the call, she said, because some of the detainees freed in the deal 'worked with Navalny to combat corruption and build a free, democratic Russia.'

'I thanked Yulia for her courage in continuing her husband's works and reaffirmed my commitment to stand with those fighting for freedom in Russia and around the world,' she added.

But some eagle-eyed users of social media criticized the 59-year-old vice president as a 'phony' for holding the phone to her ear as she spoke to the grieving widow.

'Why is it on "speaker-phone" but being held up to your ear... as though you're speaking on the phone through the normal speaker,' Nikki Villanueva wrote.

On Friday, the Obamas posted a video of them calling Harris to endorse her for the Democratic presidential nomination.

In the video, Harris could once again be seen holding the phone to her ear - even though the speaker phone button is pressed.

'The Obama's endorse Kamala in the most cringeworthy way,' one X user wrote.

'None of them can act, and Kamala goes from taking the phone call on speaker to holding it to her ear.

'We somehow can still hear the Obamas clearly.

'These people are dumb.'

Drew Hernandez also called the video 'poorly scripted events.

'Everything about Kamala Harris right now is synthetic,' he wrote. 'Who talks on speaker phone with the phone up to their ear?'
This is what happens when politicians are coddled their whole careers by the news media because they’re “special”, and then they finally get the kind of scrutiny non-special politicians get from the beginning.

Chinese citizen arrested after repeatedly trying to get into Trump's Mar-a-Lago
He’s the second Chinese citizen to do this. One more will be a pattern.
[FoxNews] Palm Beach County court records show that Zijie Li, 38, is still in jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond

A Chinese citizen was arrested after police said he repeatedly tried to get into former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Zijie Li, 38, of El Monte, California, claimed that he had documents that tie his home country's government to the July 13 assassination attempt on Trump during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by Secret Service agents after the bullets he fired struck Trump's ear, narrowly missing his skull, and hit three of his supporters, killing former Buffalo Township Fire Chief Corey Comperatore.

Following the assassination attempt, the Secret Service increased security around Trump's estate and his other properties. The Palm Beach Post reported this also prompted the agency's decision to close South Ocean Boulevard next to Mar-a-Lago, effective on July 20.

Li's first of several attempts to reach Mar-a-Lago was the night before, on July 19, when Li reportedly drove up to the estate's main entrance on South Ocean Boulevard in a gray Toyota Prius and told Secret Service agents that he had documents showing China was involved in the attempted assassination, according to an arrest report obtained by the Palm Beach Post.

However, Trump was not home at the time and was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for the Republican National Convention.

Agents then reportedly told Li that he was trespassing and was not allowed on the property and the Palm Beach Police Department issued him a written warning, the report said. Police also told Li that he was not permitted to return to Mar-a-Lago, and if he did, he would be arrested.

Li's next visit to Palm Beach was July 22, where footage from town security cameras showed that he drove east and then west again over the Royal Park Bridge twice, first in the morning and then in the afternoon, the arrest report said.

The Palm Beach Post reported that Li is also not the first Chinese citizen to face charges for trying to gain access to Mar-a-Lago. A 32-year-old Chinese woman was arrested in 2019 after the Secret Service said she lied to get into the club and then claimed she wanted to talk to Trump about economic relations between China and the United States.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was killed by Secret Service agents

That's an assumption. Crooks's autopsy report is considered a state secret (by the state of Pennsylvania). The manner of his death is uncertain, except that a dead body was found a short time after the attempt on Trump, on that fateful roof, with blood oozing from the head. The DNA testing to prove that the body was of Thomas Crooks, how many wounds, what was their path, what was the estimated size & velocity of the projectile, none of this has been made public.
I found a recent YouTube video with someone who apparently had obtained a duplicate of the rifles the 2 countersniper teams seemed to have had. A imitation human head with transparent skin, plastic bones, gelatinous brain on a cervical column, was used as a target. Based on reports Crooks was shot through an eye, the testers shot a bullet through the eye of the "head" using what they thought was the same type of rifle the countersnipers used.
The "head" completely disintegrated. Only intact part of the model was the cervical spinal column. This was nothing like the images of the dead "Crooks" we had seen.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Bullies filmed stomping boy, 17, to death are handed outrageously-lenient plea deal
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A grieving Las Vegas mother has been left 'dumbfounded and in shock' after four bullies who were caught on camera beating her son to death accepted plea deals.

Melissa Ready lost her son Jonathan Lewis, 17, after he was attacked by a group of teens and stomped to the point of unconsciousness, before dying a week later.

Dontral Beaver, 16, Damian Hernandez, 18, Treavion Randolph, 16, and Gianni Robinson all stood accused of his murder after being charged as adults in January.

On Thursday, it was announced that they all accepted a plea deal that will allow them to plead guilty as juveniles to manslaughter.

That case would take place in a juvenile court, with the four facing an undetermined length of imprisonment in a juvenile detention center.

Should any of the teens back out of the deal, then all four would again be charged in adult court, Chief Deputy District Attorney John Giordani said.

Speaking with 8newsnow, Ready spoke of her disgust after the plea deal was announced, saying the four should be tried as adults.

Lewis's fatal assault took place outside Rancho High School in Las Vegas on November 1 of last year.

Videos of the attack show a group of teens hitting, kicking and stomping Lewis to the point of unconsciousness, which caused his death a week later.

Out of the nine teens arrested, four others, including a 13-year-old boy, have pleaded guilty in juvenile court to voluntary manslaughter.

Authorities in Vegas have said the students agreed to meet in the alley to fight over a vape pen and wireless headphones that had been stolen from Lewis' friend.

Footage obtained by 8 News Now shows Lewis being carried to safety by a student and neighbor back to the high school after the savage attack.

Defense lawyer Robert Draskovich, representing Robinson, called the fight a tragedy, but said convicting the four as adults would have been a second tragedy.

On Thursday, he said: 'This negotiation enables my client to graduate high school, move on with his life and become a productive citizen.'

Draskovich said he would ask at sentencing for Robinson to be released from custody with credit for time already served.

In a statement, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson
Is he another Soros DA? He acts like one…
acknowledged Lewi's mother's comments and 'the pain she is going through as she mourns her son'.

It added that she had been informed last week about the terms of the negotiations before defending the resolution of the case.

The statement said juvenile court is 'best equipped to punish the defendants for their heinous conduct' while also offering rehabilitation.

In Nevada, a teenager facing a murder charge can be charged as an adult if they were 13 or older when the crime occurred.

Biden-Harris administration backtracks, revokes plea deal for 9/11 terrorists

[FoxNews] A stunning backtrack Friday on the plea deal that Pentagon prosecutors agreed to with three of the terrorists behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks who were awaiting trial in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.

The deal that stirred national outrage and took the death penalty off of the table has been revoked by Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III in a terse memo.

Secretary Austin III is now taking the lead on the case for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammad,
…also in our archives as Khalid Sheikh Mohammad
Walid Muhammad Salih Mubarak Bin 'Attash, and Mustafa Ahmed Adam al Hawsawi.

In his order, Austin relieved the official in charge of the military commission who had signed off on the original plea deals.

"Effective immediately, in the exercise of my authority, I hereby withdraw from the three pretrial agreements that you signed on July 31, 2024," the letter from the Secretary of Defense reads.

Le Monde: Malian terrorists were trained in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Terrorists from the alliance of armed separatist groups CSP-DPA
…the latest name of the Azawad (Tuareg) separatists…
Mali were trained in Ukraine. This was written by the French newspaper Le Monde.

CSP-DPA spokesman Mohamed Elmauloud Ramadan said the militants have ties to Ukrainians, French, Americans and others.

“Members of the CSP-DPA went to Ukraine to undergo training there,” Ramadan admitted, adding that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, among other things, trained them to handle kamikaze drones.

As reported by Regnum, fierce battles with terrorists continue in Mali - combat aircraft have responded by striking the location of a Tuareg group and foreign mercenaries in Tinhavatin. It is preliminarily known that at least 40 militants have been eliminated and up to 70 more wounded.

On July 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Mali reported that the army was launching massive strikes against terrorist and smuggler concentrations.

The bodies of the dead Wagner Group fighters, as well as those captured during the clashes with the Tuaregs, must be returned to Russia, Dmitry Rogozin, a member of the Federation Council from the Zaporozhye region, called on July 29.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
How the LGBT Agenda Defeated the Symbol of American Conservatives: Harley Davidson
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from a variety of sources by Russian correspondent Rybar.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Recently, a number of publications, including the Daily Mail, drew attention to the spread of inclusive values in companies that have traditionally been considered bastions of traditionalism. These companies unexpectedly conduct training for staff with a focus on the LGBT agenda and the imposition of an ideology of inclusivity. How could this even happen?

HARLEY DAVIDSON AND THE MARLBORO PERSON...
In the famous film Harley Davidson and the Marlboro man, which had a strong influence on the company's image, the ideology and priorities are quite clearly defined - these are conservative values.

But today the company's management is trying to radically change the vector of development of the enterprise. Contacts with white suppliers and dealers are being reduced, white personnel are being cut. The company officially supports the "equality law", which is aimed at erasing natural gender differences.

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR SUCH A REVERSAL?
In our material on the use of pension savings to promote the LGBT agenda, we examined in detail the mechanism for forcing public companies to participate in this process. BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street and affiliated structures control more than $ 20 trillion in pension savings. This makes the "big three" a de facto monopoly on the American stock market and one of the main sources of liquidity.

Since promoting the LGBT agenda is now an absolute priority for the US administration, the "big three" companies provide significant assistance in this through manipulation of the stock market. The mechanics are very simple: companies that do not follow the LGBT values are simply not included in the investment portfolio.

For most publicly traded companies, this is an ultimatum and blackmail. Either join the LGBT movement or lose part of the company's capitalization. Let us recall that the number of shares traded on the stock exchange rarely exceeds 10-15% of the total issue. A significant portion of non-traded shares are usually pledged to banks as collateral. The amount of collateral is calculated based on the current market value of the shares. If the market capitalization falls, the bank has the right to demand an increase in collateral. Otherwise, bankruptcy proceedings and the sale of the company's property to cover the bank's costs may be initiated.

Harley Davidson, like many other manufacturing companies, is currently in a difficult situation and cannot allow a sharp drop in market capitalization. Therefore, the company's management is taking active steps, necessary in the current realities, to include the investment portfolio of the "big three".

Current processes directly reflect the problems of transforming the market model of the economy into a distribution one. Now the priority is not the needs of the client, but the ability to attract capital. Capital is provided not within the framework of the market model, but in compliance with the LGBT requirements that dominate today's agenda of globalists and TNC executives, and the list of requirements is constantly expanding.

Therefore, all American and global companies focused on traditional values will be forced to either transform in accordance with the new realities, or disappear. This is part of the new world order.

And some are still seriously surprised by homosexuals at the opening of the "Olympics". This is a systemic process.

F—k white women
[NYPOST] A pair of black female activists, who have met with Vice President Harris several times and previously vowed to get “real serious” about helping her become the next president, could alienate some of the “White women for Kamala” supporters with their past rhetoric as they mobilize ahead of November’s election.

Cora Masters Barry,
Widow of late D.C. mayor Marion the bitch set me up Barry
an appointee of Democrat D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and longtime civil rights activist, and Melanie Campbell, who leads the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation, have visited the White House more than 50 times combined during the Biden administration, including nearly a dozen visits with Harris or her staff, a Fox News Digital review found.

Weeks before President Biden and Harris were sworn into office in 2021, Barry and Campbell participated in a public Zoom call in which they made controversial statements about Trump supporters and used an expletive against White voters, specifically White women, which could cause some internal clashes as different coalitions mobilize to try to get Harris into the White House.

Approximately 164,000 White women hopped on a Zoom call last week, which was organized by Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts and other female celebrities. The call, titled “White Women: Answer the Call,” reportedly raised millions of dollars for Harris’ campaign and could be a major fundraising force over the next few months.

Acting Secret Service Director admits more staggering failures
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] … from the Donald Trump assassination attempt and reveals if anyone was fired since the former president was shot.

Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe continued to reveal failures Friday from the day former President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated while speaking at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Rowe also revealed that nobody has been fired yet over Trump's near-death experience.

The acting director explained that Secret Service officials had no radio communications with local police and weren't aware Thomas Matthew Crooks had a gun aimed at the ex-president before he opened fire.

Rowe confirmed that 'there was somebody who did, in fact radio out that they had seen the individual with a weapon.'

'What I can tell you is that piece of information, that vital piece of information, and by no fault of anyone, it was a very stressful situation, it did not make it over,' Rowe said.
Actually, it is the fault of the Secret Service team manager, because it is always the manager’s job — whatever the actual job title — to ensure that the team ha everything it needs to get the job done. Ditto for the communications coordinator who reports to the team manager. Ditto again for each of the team members who need to be able to communicate to the local team. And ultimately it is the job of Mr. Rowe, as Number 2 in the organization, to make sure that all the teams know what they need and have what they need. Lots of people at fault, and they all need to go back through all the training they have been given from the day they were hired, to see what else they do not know that they should. At no pay, of course — you only get paid for learning that stuff once. Or they can refuse to work for several years without pay, and be fired for the combination of incompetence and insubordination. Or they can be prosecuted for deliberately endangering the body they were supposed to guard. Freedom of choice…
Local and state law enforcement officers aren't on the same radio network as Secret Service agents.

Trump's Secret Service detail, Rowe said, was 'operating under the assumption' from the last bit of information that they received.

'That there was an issue that the locals were working at the three o'clock,' he said, using a clock as a directional cue. 'That's a bit of information that we had. Not anything about a weapon.'

In fact, more details about the threat were being shared, when the gunshots rang out.

'So the former president's detail - they had an advanced person on the ground who was responsible for the site,' Rowe said. 'The radio transmission goes out about locals working an issue at the 3 o'clock.'

'The member of that detail called their Pittsburgh Field Office counterpart. "Hey, what do you know about this?" In the midst - right in the middle of that phone conversation, the shots begin firing,' Rowe said.

The former president is a fan of holding large outdoor rallies, but Rowe suggested that busy radio chatter - from people making medical emergency requests due to the heat - could have played a role clogging up the airwaves at a vital time.

Rowe said that about 100 calls had been made for support ahead of the shooting.

'It was a very hot day that day,' Rowe explained. 'There were a lot of - not only EMS type of calls to address people but, there were people that needed some other type of law enforcement assistance.'

'This happens. Candidly happens a lot at outdoor rallies where, especially on hot days,' the acting director continued.

'So there was a lot of traffic, radio traffic on the local net about, "Hey, I need an EMT here." So there were a lot of people that were needing assistance,' Rowe said.

Rowe said it was now 'plainly obvious' that the Secret Service didn't have the information they needed, but refused to assign blame.

'It just so happened that there was a sense of urgency, that there might have been radio traffic that we missed,' he said. 'We have to do a better job at that.'

During the press conference, which ran under an hour, Rowe revealed that he would 'provide some type of statement that people are being held accountable' when asked if the American public would be informed about firings over the assassination attempt.

He also said that all the main principals - Trump, President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance and whomever Harris chooses for her VP would all get Secret Service sniper teams at their events going forward.

Rowe was also asked about an allegation from a whisteblower that he 'personally directed' cuts to the agency's Counter Surveillance Division, the unit tasked with evaluating event sites in advance.

'I've become aware of this. We got a congressional letter on it. What I can tell you is that the Counter Surveillance Division, they do a fantastic job,' Rowe said.

He said that he was aware of the allegations that he had denied requests to utilize them.

'The Counter Surveillance Division has been out there supporting the former president at some very high-profile events. They continue to provide that support and they're out there providing support right now,' Rowe said.
Adequate support? Or once again will the Secret Service look like the Keystone Cops?
When asked to clarify if he cut CSD resources he responded, 'I did not, no.'
Then who did? Someone signed off for that decision.

(1.) The Secret Service should have had at least ONE person with capability to monitor multiple radio frquencies.

(2.) Secret Service should have provided senior Local Law Enforcement with the capability to 'break into Secret Service frequency' in an emergency. A "ROLLING THUNDER" type of NET Alert could have saved lives.

(3.) Rowe sites "hot weather" as a potential cause for communicatons breakdown. This is total bullshi*.

(4.) Rowe mentions or references no specific site communications plan. Rowe fails to disclose the actual number of trained Sercret Service peronnel on-site vs other agency fillers.

(5.) Rowe and the (yet unknown) on-site Secret Service supervisor are total amateurs. Other agency (B and C team) fillers in black suits and ear buds just doesn't cut it.

#2  Stochastic terrorism is targeted political violence that has been instigated by hostile public rhetoric which is directed at a group or an individual. Unlike incitement to terrorism, stochastic terrorism is accomplished by using indirect, vague, or coded language that allows the instigator to plausibly disclaim responsibility for the resulting violence.[1] A key element is the use of social media and other distributed forms of communications where the person who carries out the violence has no direct connection to the users of violent rhetoric.
In the current case, they added a bunch of morons as his security detail.

Ukrainian General Staff: Ukrainian Armed Forces are repelling attacks in nine directions
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] Ukrainian Armed Forces Contain Russian Attacks in Eastern and Southern Ukraine.

The most intense fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsky direction in the areas of eight populated areas
.

Since the beginning of the current day, 72 combat clashes have occurred on the front. The hottest is currently in the Pokrovsk direction, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a report on Friday, August 2.

Thus, five combat clashes took place in the Kharkov direction. Our soldiers repelled four attacks near Glubokoe, Tykhoe and Vovchanskoe. Another battle is underway.

In the Kupyansk direction, the Russians attempted to storm positions near Stelmakhovka twice. Both attacks were repelled.

In the Liman direction, the enemy attacked in the areas of Makeyevka, Nevsky and Torsky. In total, there have already been seven combat clashes in this direction since the beginning of the day.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the Russians organized five assaults. Four attacks near Kleshchyivka and Ivanovskoye were repelled. Another one is continuing near Chasovy Yar.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with the support of aviation, attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces 10 times. Currently, four combat clashes are ongoing near Toretsk, Zheleznoye and New York. Today, the enemy dropped 12 UABs on Toretsk.

"The situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains tense. Fierce battles are taking place in the areas of Kalinovoye, Vozdvizhenka, Novoaleksandrovka, Ivanovka, Zhelannoye, Sergeyevka, Novoselovka Pervaya and Yasnobrodovka. The enemy has now made 25 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions," the statement said.

In the Kurakhovsky direction, the invaders attacked three times. They tried to advance near Krasnogorovka and Konstantinovka.

In the Vremivsky direction, four assaults towards Velikaya Novoselka were repelled.

The aggressors also carried out four unsuccessful attacks in the Dnieper direction.

Let us recall that on August 1, Russia's losses at the front amounted to 1,100 people. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the aggressor country has lost more than 580 thousand soldiers.

#4  Winston Churchill on Islam:

"Indeed it is evident that Christianity, however degraded and distorted by cruelty and intolerance, must always exert a modifying influence on men’s passions, and protect them from the more violent forms of fanatical fever, as we are protected from smallpox by vaccination. But the Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance. It was originally propagated by the sword, and ever since its votaries have been subject, above the people of all other creeds, to this form of madness. In a moment the fruits of patient toil, the prospects of material prosperity, the fear of death itself, are flung aside.

The more emotional Pathans are powerless to resist. All rational considerations are forgotten. Seizing their weapons, they become Ghazis—as dangerous and as sensible as mad dogs: fit only to be treated as such. While the more generous spirits among the tribesmen become convulsed in an ecstasy of religious bloodthirstiness, poorer and more material souls derive additional impulses from the influence of others, the hopes of plunder and the joy of fighting.

Thus whole nations are roused to arms. Thus the Turks repel their enemies, the Arabs of the Soudan break the British squares, and the rising on the Indian frontier spreads far and wide. In each case civilisation is confronted with militant Mahommedanism. The forces of progress clash with those of reaction. The religion of blood and war is face to face with that of peace. Luckily the religion of peace is usually the better armed. —The Story of the Malakand Field Force (1898), 26-27"

Kamala Harris [magically] gets enough delegates to secure Dem nomination — despite never winning a primary
[NYPOST] Vice President Kamala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's' former mistress
got enough delegate votes Friday in the virtual roll call process to become the official Democratic nominee.

The deadline for DNC delegates to turn in their electronic ballot is on Monday, but by Friday afternoon, Harris already had the majority of delegate support secured.

“I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of the Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” DNC chair Jaime Harrison said in a call.

#4  Remember Biden was a nothing, showing his age like a 50 year old playing pick up basketball with teenagers. Harris and Bootygig were the favorites until Harris got smoked on center stage. The regime called the contest, consulted, and decided Biden would be the best..face. It was the Summer of Shove, Covid Karens, and Wine Aunts, so Harris checked more boxes than Bootygig and I'm sure was promised could be polished.

Remember the campaign A Vote for a President Biden is really a vote for a President Harris?
(because Biden is in poor health) is the shadow of that campaign.

#5  She was handed a number of plum assignments and topics to build her image and they all flopped. I posit not only could she not be polished, but between her shortcomings and upset that she needed to change (and possibly off the clock fun) she took it out on her staff, Harris never being pleasant at best of times, and the team had cascade failures.
Posted by: swksvolFF || 08/03/2024 11:07 Comments || Top||

#6  I present as evidence that she could have been made President at any point the last couple weeks. Counter evidence would be they want a hype campaign first and an announcement outside of Olympic coverage. Fair, but there isn't even any talk about it, she has been put in a media hole, and what policy topics she has weighed in on have been off, like high-fiving Maduro Results even as his goons roamed the streets shooting anyone who said otherwise. And that gawdAWFL speech in Georgia in some Californian's idea of what a black and southern accent sounds like. It was worse than Tropic Thunder and that was a parody movie. The only thing worse would be to have her take the stage with a 40 and a grill. Embarrassing.

People notice things. They notice food prices. They notice ever since that hotel was turned into an illegal migrant camp the only shit which doesn't go missing is on the sidewalk and stairs. There is a certain suspension of disbelief required for this program and it requires a face. Harris, unlikable, uncoachable, with no mental talents, and a bit of a loose cannon, is a hard sale whose team can't even get the VP Choice announcement organized.

#8  Going to try to break down the 'Weird' campaign, because it is the other edge of the knife.

For the past 10 years at least, Keep It Weird has been a counter-culture rally cry: Keep Portland Weird, Keep San Francisco Weird, etc. So why are Harris' Advertisers now using it as an insult, other than the latest firmware update?

By implying their behavior is the normal, with your permission, calling others weird makes a straw man. He isn't weird, he is a goal oriented person. He isn't weird, he just believes in service and family. So on. And if people are rushing to that defense, they are not point at how weird the leftist sales package is. Dude painted blue laying on a table covered in fruit with his balls hanging out. Someone of California privilege of immigrants who has the same amount of African American experience as Talcum X is Southern Black. Someone who has been trained for 4 years is somehow now a worse communicator, who can't complete a thought on the first try and randomly breaks out in laughter. Actually weird things.

It is an actual Disney advertising technique. When some behind the scenes footage of the Snow White remake was leaked, they went and called the original characters weird to try and lower its status so the remake looked better. Star Wars, their recent stuff has been absolute shit, so they went back and called the extras casting in the original 3 weird. But Billy Dee Williams, the defenders flocked to, thus leaving self impregnating l#sb1an space witches unchecked. Aren't the prequel character stereotypes weird, sending off other fans to its defense so Mark Hammil and the Princess Warriors chapters are left alone.

I read somewhere that it is akin to throwing sticks with a dog, and there is absolute truth to that. I'd add, while trying to break into the house. It distracts and wears out the dog, when the dog should be focused on guarding the door. Don't chase sticks.

#9  The "Weird Counter Culture" required surplus money, it required the free exchange of ideas, it required the safety and security to complete those ideas, the acceptance of others without putting people into check boxes, a vibrant energy and hopeful future in which an individual can be part of and participate in.

In its slur form, weird - again they are counting on your permission to take a negative - it is family, duty, honor, acceptance, children's health and well being. It is wanting a good quality of life. It is goal oriented accomplishments. Its knowing when it is time to be serious.

Maybe it is time to Make American Weird Again.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel last year advanced highest number of West Bank settlements since Oslo – EU report
[IsraelTimes] Israel advanced last year the highest number of settlements in the West Bank since the Oslo Accords of the 1990s, according to a report from the European Union’s representative office in the Palestinian territories.

Plans for 12,349 housing units moved towards approval in the West Bank, the EU office says, warning of the impact on a potential two-state solution.

Another 18,333 units moved forward in the planning process in East Jerusalem, the EU office says.

The total — 30,682 units in both the West Bank and East Jerusalem — is the highest since 2012, it adds.

The report comes at a time of heightened tensions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem over the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, which has been raging since the Hamas terror group’s October 7 massacre in southern Israel.

“The EU has repeatedly called on Israel not to proceed with plans under its settlement policy and to halt all settlement activities,” the EU office says.

“It remains the EU’s firm position that settlements are illegal under international law… Israel’s decision to advance plans for the approval and construction of new settlement units in 2023 further undermines the prospects of a viable two-state solution.”

IDF: Deputy head of Islamic Jihad weapons manufacturing unit killed in Gaza airstrike
[IsraelTimes] A senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad commander was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the military says, as troops continue operations in Rafah and the Netzarim Corridor.

Muhammad al-Jabari was the deputy head of an Islamic Jihad weapons manufacturing unit, and responsible for the unit’s finances, according to the IDF.

The IDF says that al-Jabari “was entrusted with the organization’s production of weapons in the northern Gaza Strip, distribution of salaries and money to the organization’s terrorists, and took an active part in the attempt to restore the organization’s rocket production capabilities and infrastructure.”

The military carried out “many steps” to mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, including using aerial surveillance and precision munitions, the IDF says.

Meanwhile, the IDF says that troops with the 162nd Division killed more than 30 gunmen in close-quarters combat and by calling in airstrikes in southern Gaza’s Rafah in the past day.

In the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip where the 252nd Division is deployed, reservists with the division’s Jerusalem Brigade spotted a cell of gunmen emerging from a tunnel, and called in a drone strike, according to the military.

In the same area amid operations by the Harel Reserve Armored Brigade, an attack helicopter struck a building used as a weapons depot, the IDF adds.

Study: Major AI Chatbots Embrace Radical Leftist Political Ideologies, Demonstrate Anti-Conservative Bias
[Breitbart] An academic study has found that popular AI language models, including ChatGPT and Google Gemini, consistently display left-leaning political preferences when subjected to various political orientation tests.

The Daily Mail reports that David Rozado, an associate professor at Otago Polytechnic University in New Zealand, has conducted the first comprehensive study examining the political leanings of artificial intelligence language models. The study, published in PLoS ONE, analyzed 24 Large Language Models (LLMs) using 11 different political orientation tests, including the Political Compass Test and Eysenck’s Political Test.

The research encompassed a wide range of prominent AI models, such as OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, Google’s Gemini, Anthropic’s Claude, X/Twitter’s Grok, Llama 2, Mistral, and Alibaba’s Qwen. These models were presented with politically charged questions to assess their values, party affiliation, and personality traits.

Results from the study revealed that all tested LLMs consistently produced answers that aligned with progressive, democratic, and environmentally conscious ideologies. The AI models frequently expressed values associated with equality, global perspectives, and “progress.”

Vivek Ramaswamy: A baby shortage threatens America's future while our leaders nap
Mr. Ramaswamy only has two children thus far, but he and his wife are certainly still young enough to have a few more, and as a borderline billionaire he can certainly afford the nannies necessary when Mom is a busy surgeon...
[FoxNews] America's birth rate is now down to 1.62 births per woman. That's the lowest in history and well below replacement rate.
Just before the Covid shutdown, married women having three children was considered a marker of success, like having a stay-at-home wife. Watch the current situation turn around after Donald Trump is sworn into office.

#1  We have this insane concept of "prolonged adolescence". We keep young people, I won't call them kids, in high school until they're 17 or 18 years old and tell them they are strictly forbidden from having sex or getting married at a time when they can think of little else. They are told they are not responsible enough but in truth they are treated like children and not allowed to be responsible. They can't get jobs to support babies if they did.

And what are they learning all these long years sitting in classes run by socialist, perverted school teachers? Absolutely nothing that will ever help them get a job. Corporations would prefer to have that work done in China anyway. Young adults who would be far better off learning a trade are told they must attend college where they will get four more years of irrelevant bullshit.

A few people are willing and able to study science, engineering and math but most study "liberal arts" which is worse than useless. They take on huge debts to do this. When they finally get out of college they will have no more marketable skills than they had in high school. At least then they can have sex and get married but they can't afford a place to live let alone support babies. By the time young women can afford a baby they are far past their prime child bearing years.

Then people act surprised when they learn about our declining birth rate. Amazing.

Israel assassinated 5 Hamas leaders in a tunnel under Gaza City — Arab media report
[IsraelTimes] Israel recently assassinated two Hamas politburo leaders and three military commanders in a tunnel under Gaza City, according to sources from the terror group quoted by the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.

According to the report, the IDF strike killed Hamas political leaders Rawhi Mushtaha and Sameh al-Siraj along with three commanders from the group’s military wing, the Izz a-Din al-Qassam Brigades; Abdul Hadi Siam, Sami Odeh and Muhammad Hadid.

The IDF in November said it had targeted Mushtaha and Siraj in a tunnel, but was unable to confirm their deaths.

However, the sources quoted by Asharq Al-Awsat say the strike on the tunnel that killed the Hamas members took place around a week and a half ago, noting that the underground hideout has been partially damaged in an airstrike at the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza, sparked by the terror group’s October 7 massacre.

The report says that the tunnel was used by the terror group as a command and control center and that it has rooms for sleeping, where operatives can hide out for extended periods.

The Hamas sources say the bodies of the assassinated leaders were pulled from the rubble after the most recent bombing in a complicated extraction effort that took several days. They were reportedly buried last night.

Drug cartels using bomb-dropping drones have killed Mexican army soldiers: report
[FoxNews] Defense Secretary Gen. Luis Cresencio Sandoval did not provide exact figures on the number of casualties suffered in the attacks.

The Mexican army has confirmed that drug cartel-operated bomb-dropping drones have killed soldiers in the western state of Michoacan.

Defense Secretary Gen. Luis Cresencio Sandoval did not provide exact figures on the number of casualties suffered in the attacks, according to the Associated Press.

Sandoval stated on Friday that attacks targeted patrol units and included over 260 drone-bomb incidents in 2023 alone.

"Our personnel have suffered wounds, and some of our troops have even died" in the attacks, Sandoval said.

The Jalisco cartel, known for equipping drones with metal bomb casings, has turned the region into a warzone with IEDs, trenches, and armored vehicles.

Sandoval told the AP that the army continues to encounter far more road-side bombs than drone-dropped ones.

Mexico’s Navy also acknowledged on Friday that two military helicopter crew members died earlier this year when their chopper went down in the Pacific Ocean while chasing cocaine-smuggling boats.

Officials told the AP that the U.S. Navy had agreed to help in recovering the sunken helicopter and the crew members’ remains.

The Jalisco and Sinaloa cartels have also flooded major U.S. cities with meth and fentanyl and use violence to protect their turf, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said in a May report.

--Tech & Moderator Notes
It's that time of the year. We must ask for your help...
Once again, we are back, asking regulars and lurkers alike for help in keeping this unique journalistic/internet asset alive and well. Come September 11th Rantburg will mark its 23rd year in operation, procuring news and commentary on the global war on terrorism. In the past we also have provided original news that no other news outlet on the planet would provide, as well as original commentary.

We have a set of moderators who provide ongoing services in helping to procure items on a daily basis for Rantburg, commentary, and help in dealing with the more rowdy customers.

But there has been a change.

Fred wants to retire. He wants to remove himself from maintaining the server, and he wants to maintain an Emeritus status for himself. The task of maintaining the server, from the iron, to the operating system, to the server software will fall to me.

I encourage Fred to continue to do many of the things he still can for this community: his writing, his programming, his inline commentary, and his moderating. So, for as long as he can continue doing all this, he will benefit from these fundraisers.

In the background, I have been working to harden my own server for the eventual handover of Rantburg. My server currently works as a backup server for Rantburg, as well as a server for my own websites and my mail server. The plan is for my server to take over functions that his server has, once he decides when to make that happen.

When he does, he will point his name server to my server, after which there will be a brief 24 to 48 hour stretch of time while his DNS data propagates. Once complete, Rantburg will be live and hosted on 1dogstar.net.

But there's a hitch: I have zero clue as to how 1dogstar.net will handle Rantburg. Among the work done to 1dogstar.net was the installation of a default deny firewall, which seems to work fairly well. But the server has not been stress tested, so I have no idea how well 1dogstar.net will take the handoff.

If 1dogstar.net cannot handle the load — though there's no reason to think that it won't — at that point I will decide to move Rantburg to a completely new server.

The pluses to moving Rantburg to 1dogstar.net to a new server are huge. Back in the ancient days, Fred collocated his server at a data center in Maryland for which he paid for bandwidth and assumed all hardware costs for the server. But when a hard drive or a network card stopped working, he would be forced to go to the data center with another computer, bringing Rantburg down while he worked to restore his server and transfer the data to another new server.

All of this represented time and money which Fred happily expended to keep his project going. These are tasks that I sympathize with, when I tried to maintain a web hosting, web business using servers and bandwidth out of my own internet provider. Potentially, the hardware costs were staggering, and that is when I decided to rent my own hardware.

1dogstar.net has been in continual operation for 20 years come November, and in that time that server has never suffered a failure in hardware, nor has there been an outage of any kind in the data center that I use.

I have been with this company, Server Pronto, since 2004, and they are absolutely reliable. They happen to be among the least expensive providers of dedicated servers that I am aware of. In that time, after my business failed, I continued to use the free BSD operating system for web hosting on a rented server.

So, at least those are the plans. The main reason why I would prefer Fred to continue his activities is that Rantburg is his life's work. And Rantburg, as far as we have been able to divine, provides unique news and commentary on those who would destroy our way of life that no one else provides. As the oath I and many others in this forum have taken in the past states, this server, the moderators, and its regulars provide journalism that reports on the activities of our enemies both foreign and domestic.

Another benefit to the above described plans is that the Officer's Club, with the names officersclub.1dogstar.net wheelus.1dogstar.net and o-club.org ( the link of which is on the sidebar) will be on a separate host in case of the unlikely event of a failure.

Those sites are active as I write this, albeit there are problems with o-club.org since it is a redirect to wheelus1.1dogstar.net I will resolve that in time.

WHAT THE HELL are you doing calling people anti-Semitic who call out leftist Jewish activists, numerous Democrat Jewish Congress persons who support Biden and Kamala who are anti- Israel and anti-West Bank settlement, who refused to attend Benjamin Netanyahu's Congressional speech? Are you saying criticism of Jews who support anti-Semitism is anti-Semitic?

#12  Are you sure I did it, Whavick Scourge of the Apes9857? Nonetheless, you are right that there are Jews who support Jew-haters, and it is not Jew-hate to call them out for it. The issue is when the entire category of Jews are blamed for something that is actually a problem of the Progressive educated class, of which they are a small but idiotic part.

So, though it’s almost time for the midnight rollover, I most heartily apologize for misinterpreting your post.

Suspected Israeli struck targets Syria’s Daraa last Tuesday: Monitor
30-07-2024
[Rudaw] A barrage of Israeli missiles targeted several locations in the countryside of Daraa province, southwest of the country, a war monitor reported on Tuesday.

The UK-based war monitor Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the missiles targeted Syrian air defense bases in Tal al-Jaibah, and several army and air defense positions stationed in the western countryside of the province.

Syrian anti-aircraft systems tried to intercept the missiles, according to SOHR, adding that there is no immediate information on the extent of damage.

Neither the Syrian army nor the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has commented on the strike so far.

According to SOHR data, Tuesday's strike was Israel’s 55th on Syrian territories since the beginning of the year. The war monitor reported that said strikes destroyed around 111 targets, including weapons and ammunition depots, headquarters, centers and vehicles.

ARCH2 gets $30M for hydrogen hub; critics call it a 'boondoggle'
Next: Smokeless Coal
[JustTheNews] Using renewable energy or fossil fuels, the seven hubs scattered across the nation plan to produce hydrogen from water through an electrolysis process, then store the hydrogen until it’s used for power generation, fuel, and other industrial processes.

The federal government cut its first check for a multi-state experiment to build a hydrogen-based manufacturing and energy hub in Appalachia, sending $30 million to ARCH2.

The team behind the Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub expects up to $925 million from the Department of Energy to spearhead development.

“This federal funding will unlock billions of dollars in private sector investment to create thousands of well-paying jobs in Appalachia’s emerging hydrogen economy,” ARCH2 officials said in a press release. “ARCH2 will create a clean, economically viable, and socially equitable hydrogen ecosystem within Appalachia, revitalizing local communities impacted by the energy transition.”

The hub, with its headquarters in Morgantown, West Virginia, aims to build a regional cluster in West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania of producers, consumers, and infrastructure to lower overall emissions by using hydrogen.

Using renewable energy or fossil fuels, the seven hubs scattered across the nation plan to produce hydrogen from water through an electrolysis process, then store the hydrogen until it’s used for power generation, fuel, and other industrial processes.

The $30 million will fund phase one of the hub, expected to run up to 36 months. Other money will follow for future phases if ARCH2 hits DOE-set milestones. The four phases of the hub are expected to run for more than a decade.

“Less than a year ago, ARCH2 was merely a proposal. Today, we are diligently transforming that idea into reality,” officials noted in a recent summer update. They anticipate a webinar within a month for more updates.

Pennsylvania’s other hub, MACH2 in the eastern region, awaits its first award. In June, the Department of Environmental Protection’s Citizens Advisory Council heard a presentation from officials on the hub’s benefits and timetable. CAC members asked for more information and details about the plan while public commenters urged them to be skeptical due to the public being “kept in the dark.”

Environmentalists have warned against the hydrogen hubs, calling on Gov. Josh Shapiro in May to put a pause on their development. The viability of the hubs have also been called into question, as no large-scale success stories yet exist even as hundreds of millions of dollars are flowing to the hubs from the government.

Some legislators, too, have cried foul over the legal changes made to accommodate hub-related technology like carbon capture and sequestration.

Rep. Dawn Keefer, R-Dillsburg, condemned Senate Bill 831 in July, which established a legal framework for carbon capture.

“If a Pennsylvania family’s water is contaminated by CO2 being pumped into the ground, who’s responsible? Under the carbon capture legislation, one thing is very clear: it won’t be the multi-billion dollar corporation conducting the carbon capture experimental technology,” Keefer said. “If carbon capture is so safe and proven, then why is this legislation written to protect the corporations? It’s because carbon capture is not a proven science.”

In a newsletter to her constituents, she warned carbon capture is not for the welfare of Pennsylvania, but for corporate subsidies that “runs roughshod over the rights of property owners.”

The Ohio River Valley Institute, which has urged states to make alternative investments in clean energy rather than the hydrogen hubs, called the ARCH2 hub a “boondoggle.”

“This award represents a continued commitment to invest in a natural gas industry that has added to the pollution and health burdens in the region while failing to deliver any measurable growth in jobs, income, and population,” ORVI Senior Researcher Sean O’Leary said. “At a time when we should be pursuing proven, cost-effective, job-producing decarbonization models, this decision sends us further down the path of dependency on natural gas that will result in increased taxes and utility bills.”

-Great Cultural Revolution
Orbán: The West Sees Immigration As A ‘Way Of Getting Rid Of The Ethnic Homogeneity That Is The Basis Of The Nation-State’
[ZeroHedge] In Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s speech at Tusványos in Romania, he focuses on the intractable differences developing between the East and West of Europe, with immigration one of the key divisions. He not only rejects the Western view on immigration, but sees it as an agenda with a very specific ideology behind it, which is designed to erode the nation-state entirely.

“But Westerners, quite differently, believe that nation-states no longer exist. They therefore deny that there is a common culture and a public morality based on (the nation-state). There is no public morality, if you watched the Olympic opening yesterday, you saw it. So, they also think differently about migration. They believe that migration is not a threat or a problem, but in fact a way of getting rid of the ethnic homogeneity that is the basis of a nation. This is the essence of the progressive liberal international concept. That is why the absurdity does not occur to them, or they do not see it as absurd,” he said.

He said that this contrast between East and West is playing out through war and the movement of peoples, saying that while hundreds of thousands of Christian people are killing each other in the East, “in the West of Europe, we are letting hundreds of thousands of people into a foreign civilization, which is absurd from our Central European point of view.”

This dramatic ideological cleavage is not a “secret,” according to Orbán. He said that the documents and policy papers coming out of the EU shpw that the “clear aim is to transcend the nation.”

“But the point is that the powers, the sovereignty, should be transferred from the nation-states to Brussels. This is the logic behind all major measures. In their minds, the nation is a historical, or transitional, formation of the 18th and 19th centuries — as it came, so it may go. They are already in a post-national state in the Western half of Europe. It’s not just a politically different situation, but what I’m trying to talk about here is that it’s a new mental space.”

Orbán says that the Hungarian perspective is different, which is why the government is taking measures now to ensure it has a resilient social structure, and the first step is to combat Hungary’s demographic decline. He noted that progress in this area had been made in the preceding years but acknowledged that there has been a standstill and new measures must be taken.

“By 2035, Hungary should be demographically self-sustaining. There is no question of a population being replaced by migration. The Western experience is that if there are more guests than owners, the home is no longer a home. This risk should not be taken here.”

Orbán notes that not everyone in the West is happy about the demographic transformation taking place in their countries, and in many cases, there are strong majorities against continued mass immigration. This, in turn, has led to a sharp increase in repression against dissenting voices and increasingly undemocratic trends in Western countries.

And finally, the last element of reality is that this post-national situation that we see in the West has a serious, I would say dramatic, political consequence that is shaking democracy. Societies are increasingly resistant to migration, gender, war and globalism. And this creates the political problem of elites and the people, elitism and populism. This is a dominant phenomenon in Western politics today…This means that the elites condemn the people for drifting to the right. The feelings and ideas of the people are labeled xenophobia, homophobia and nationalism. The people, meanwhile, in response, accuse the elite of not caring about what is important to them, but of sinking into some kind of mindless globalism.

Consequently, the elites and the people cannot agree with each other on cooperation. I could mention many countries. But if the people and elites cannot agree to cooperate, how can it become a representative democracy? Because here we have an elite that does not want to represent the people, and is proud of not wanting to represent them, and here we have the people who are not represented.”

Self-defense Now Illegal in MN
[Alpha News] The Minnesota Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that Minnesotans faced with a potentially violent aggressor must first retreat, if possible, and only brandish a "dangerous weapon" to deter the aggressor when retreat is not an option.

The 4-2 ruling significantly restricts the ability of Minnesotans to defend themselves against violent aggressors who cross their path.

Gangbanger suspected of robbing women on Lower East Side charged in shooting that wounded two NYPD sergeants
[NYPOST] The gangbanger who shot and wounded two NYPD sergeants after robbing several women at a Lower East Side business was out on probation in a crack cocaine case at the time, according to law-enforcement sources and court records.

Joshua Dorsett, 22, is facing charges including attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and robbery after he allegedly firing off a shot during a struggle with the two officers on Eldridge Street, near Delancey Street, Thursday afternoon, according to cops and sources.

Sgt. Carl Johnson, 43, of the 5th precinct, was shot in the groin, and the same bullet passed through and grazed Sgt. Christopher Leap, 34, of the 7th precinct, in the left leg, police said.

Dorsett, a member of the notorious Up the Hill gang, struggled and fired off one shot that hit both cops, officials said.

The gang-linked Dorsett has a long history of run-ins with the law. He has at least three prior arrests, including for criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to police.

Police said he sold crack cocaine to an undercover cop six different times on the Lower East Side between March 8 and June 6 of 2022, according to a criminal complaint.

Dorsett pleaded guilty to criminal sale of a controlled substance in the fifth degree in the crack case and received three years of probation during his sentencing in May.

He was out on probation — and had even visited his probation officer Thursday morning — when police said he pulled a stickup in the mahjong parlor, according to cops and court records.

The Up the Hill crew is behind generations of tit-for-tat violence with its Down the Hill rivals for territory along opposite sides of Houston Street,
…that’s in the Lower East Side…
but police said the motive here was robbery, not related to Dorsett’s alleged involvement with the gang.

Google slammed after search for 'Trump rally' yields pro-Kamala Harris results
[NYPOST] Google was accused of skewing search results relating to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
in favor of his Dem rival Kamala Harris
It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day
— days after allegedly censoring searches related to the liquidation attempt on the former president.

The tech giant again came under fire for potential election interference Thursday after a Google search for "Trump rally" yielded a photo of the vice president under its Top Stories with the label "Kamala Harris rally in Atlanta."

A Post analysis on Friday found that entering the term "Trump rally" no longer showed Harris’ photo as the top result but still churned out news articles from left-leaning media outlets that staunchly support Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. I'm not working for you. Don't be such a horse's ass....
’s hand-picked successor after he bowed out.

Emblazoned with the title "Kamala Responds to Donald Trump’s Remarks," users needed to scroll deeper into the search results to find any articles about the former commander-in-chief’s rally in Pennsylvania, his first return to the state since surviving an assassin’s bullet on July 13.

The top results yielded stories about the Secret Service’ failings in detecting button men Thomas Crooks
…also in the Rantburg archives as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, the gamer had just got an associate degree in engineering and possibly had that extraverted version of clinical depression that leads to mass murder. As the FBI gets deeper into his encrypted files, he looks ever more like a hate-filled Antifa wannabe…
before he fired off eight rounds in Butler, Pa., from the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, and an article by notoriously anti-Trump cable network MSNBC, headlined "Trump makes callous joke while honoring the man killed at his Butler rally."

The alleged bias was first spotted by Tesla founder Elon Musk, who wrote on his X social media platform: "Just did a search for "Trump Rally" on Google and Kamala was the top result."

British-born Wall Street trader and financial commentator Jim Osman also noticed the glitch.

"We are being bombarded by Democrat propaganda. Be super awake," he said.

A Google spokesperson declined to comment Friday, referring The Post to a tweet that its PR team had made on X on Wednesday.

"These labels are automatically generated based on related news topics, and they change over time," the message read.

The latest controversy comes after the world’s top search engine’s "Autocomplete" function failed to show suggested results for the attempted liquidation of Donald Trump, as The Post reported.

Al-Aqsa imam detained on suspicion of incitement, terror support for Haniyeh eulogy
[IsraelTimes] Interior minister says will revoke residency permit of former grand mufti of Jerusalem with history of antisemitism, past accusations of terror incitement

Police detained Al-Aqsa preacher Sheikh Ekrima Sabri on suspicion of incitement and supporting terrorism after he delivered a eulogy for slain Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh during Friday prayers.

In his sermon, the former grand mufti of Jerusalem mourned “the martyr” Haniyeh, saying: “We ask Allah to have mercy on him and place him in paradise.”

Footage on social media showed audience members chanting “Allah is great” and “with blood we shall redeem the martyr” during the imam’s sermon.

The police said it had begun investigating an “imam suspected of making inciting statements and supporting terrorism during a sermon given today at the midday prayer on the Temple Mount.”

Upon securing the state prosecutor’s approval for the probe, officers took Sabri from his East Jerusalem home for questioning at the Jerusalem District Central Investigations Unit, police said.

The statement added that another person was detained on the Temple Mount for “shouts of incitement” during the service.

Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’s Doha-based political bureau, was killed in Tehran on Wednesday. Israel has not officially commented on the assassination of Haniyeh, but Iran, which hosted Haniyeh for the inauguration of its new president, has vowed to exact revenge on Israel.

Interior Minister Moshe Arbel wrote to Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara to inform her he would revoke Sabri’s permanent residency permit.

Sabri, 85, does not hold Israeli citizenship. He lives in East Jerusalem, whose Palestinian residents hold Israeli residency permits that are relatively easy for the interior minister to revoke.

“Sabri holds a permit to reside permanently in Israel, which for many years now has not stopped him from inciting against the state, promoting antisemitism and terrorism and committing serious security crimes,” wrote Arbel, accusing the sheikh of publishing antisemitic literature, serving as a conduit for Hamas funds, and supporting terrorist acts.

The police have investigated Sabri for incitement before.

In June, he was charged with inciting terrorism for comments he made that allegedly supported an attacker who shot at guards in the West Bank settlement of Maale Adumim, killing a soldier, in October 2022.

The imam is also accused of praising a second attacker who killed three Israelis and wounded six others in an April 2022 shooting in Tel Aviv.

Sabri was appointed mufti of Jerusalem by late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat in 1994. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas removed him from the post in 2006. He currently heads Jerusalem’s Supreme Muslim Council.

In writings and interviews, Sabri has cast doubt on the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust and advocated studying the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an antisemitic tract from the early 20th century.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits on the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism. The flashpoint site is considered the third holiest in Islam and the holiest in Judaism.

Zakharova says that there are compelling reasons to take action against YouTube
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russian regulators may use "legal tools" against YouTube in connection with systematic violations of Russian legislation and disregard for the rights of the audience by the video hosting service. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry by the official representative of the foreign policy department Maria Zakharova.

According to her, the administration of the video hosting service began to systematically cleanse the information field, starting with blocking the accounts of Russian federal regional media, and then moved on to blocking the accounts of government agencies, as well as the accounts of well-known public figures, bloggers and journalists.

“In other words, YouTube carried out an act of direct censorship, obstructing the free distribution and access to information, thereby violating the rights of hundreds of thousands of our subscribers,” the MFA representative added.

Moreover, Zakharova recalls, in August 2022, YouTube removed 29 materials posted on the official channel of the Russian Embassy in London, which, in turn, is a crude attempt to limit the information work of Russian diplomatic missions.

"Thus, we see many compelling reasons for taking action against the YouTube video hosting service. Numerous systematic violations of the legislation of the Russian Federation, demonstrative disregard for the domestic audience and its interests leave the regulatory bodies of our state with the right to use the appropriate legal instruments," Zakharova concluded.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the work of the YouTube video hosting service in Russia will soon slow down to 70%, State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein warned on July 26. This will happen because Russian data centers cooperating with the Google platform (the owner of YouTube) plan to stop working with the company under “gray” schemes in the coming days, he specified.

YouTube is not a neutral Internet platform that focuses on the interests of its audience; the video hosting service is working out the political instructions of the US authorities, said Andrei Nastasin, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on July 31. The YouTube administration continues to ignore the legal demands of Roskomnadzor to remove extremist materials, he added.

On August 1, Russian users began to report problems with the video hosting service en masse.

At the same time, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that YouTube is working normally for him.

'The Fall of the American Falcon': What awaits the newly arrived F-16s in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Artemy Sharapov

[REGNUM] Ukraine has received the long-awaited first batch of American fourth-generation F-16 fighters, at least that's what Bloomberg reported, citing an anonymous, informed source.

The publication’s source clarified that for now this is a “small number,” and that NATO doubts that Ukrainian pilots will be able to fly aircraft in the foreseeable future.

The news was published a few days after videos were posted online that allegedly showed American aircraft in the Ukrainian skies. However, official Kyiv immediately stated that it would not comment on any publications related to the supply of fighter jets.

As the adviser to the head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s office, Mykhailo Podolyak, stated, “it is clear that we will not comment on this in any way, because for us this is a survival factor.”

There are high hopes for the F-16 as another wonder weapon. Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command directly stated that the supplies should help change the balance of power during the conflict.

For example, the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Oleksiy Neizhpapa, suggested that the appearance of American aircraft would, at least, call into question Russia's "complete dominance" in the skies over the Black Sea. But Regnum News Agency has figured out how justified such a hope is.

"SHORT-RANGE AIRCRAFT"
The decision to provide Ukraine with American-made aircraft was made by NATO in the summer of 2023. The Netherlands, Denmark, Belgium and Norway joined the "fighter coalition", agreeing to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with F-16 aircraft from their own air forces that were being decommissioned. The coalition also promised to provide assistance with pilot training and maintenance personnel preparation.

The governments of Denmark and the Netherlands have indicated that they will allow Ukraine to use F-16s to strike at Russian territory, although Copenhagen added that such a step would be “depending on the circumstances.” This is not about “cast-off items” being handed over to the Ukrainian Air Force from a “master’s shoulder.” The F-16 Falcon is a proven machine.

The US Air Force alone has about three thousand fighters of this model. Hundreds more have been sold to a large number of foreign customers. According to media reports, the Ukrainian Air Force will receive fighters in the Bloc 40/50 modification - in principle, corresponding to the realities of modern warfare.

On the other hand, the combat radius of the fighters relative to the takeoff airfield is small - lower than that of the Russian Su-30 family of fighters, and in terms of flight altitude they are inferior to the MiG-31 interceptors. At the same time, the range of the Khibiny radar station installed on modern Russian fighters exceeds 300 km, with 100-150 km for the radar on the F-16.

This means that the Sokol can be shot down by an enemy that is beyond its detection capabilities.

It is also not entirely clear how many aircraft Kyiv can actually count on. Western sources claim that Ukraine will receive at least 79 fighters, but the delivery schedule has been stretched out until either 2026 or 2028 — the final date is constantly being pushed back. Earlier, a number of Western media outlets noted that in 2024 the Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive a maximum of 10-12 aircraft.

But the lack of fighters is not the only problem for the Ukrainian Air Force, military expert Alexander Artamonov told IA Regnum. Moreover, even a small number of aircraft creates a lot of problems with their maintenance and pilot training.

"Most likely, we are talking about the planes that were transferred from the Netherlands to Romania to train Ukrainian pilots. It is known that, according to the conclusion of NATO officers, only one out of twenty Ukrainian cadets is ready to perform flight work. Among the problems mentioned were poor language skills, lack of diligence and, for example, weight gain - that is, getting out of optimal shape," the expert notes.

Therefore, most likely, Western veterans from Europe or the United States will be at the controls, especially since NATO flight centers recently announced a recruitment of veteran pilots.

BATTLE FOR AIR SUPREMACY
It cannot be said that the experience of Western pilots or instructors will be useful in the skies over Ukraine. In fact, American pilots have never encountered a truly strong enemy.

During the recent American invasions of Yugoslavia and Iraq, most of the aircraft of the Air Forces of these countries were burned on the airfields, so the US aviation did not meet significant resistance. But the Russian pilots encountered, albeit smaller in numbers, but overall - a serious opponent and won the battle for the air.

In the first weeks of the SVO, obituaries of the dead Ukrainian pilots appeared online almost daily, and air battles took place in the skies above Kiev every day. It is quite difficult to establish the exact losses of the Ukrainian Air Force. Some of this was confirmed from obituaries published in the media (later such publications were banned for reasons of secrecy), and some can be tracked from satellite photographs of the wreckage or directly at the crash site.

And the F-16 could face the same fate, notes Austrian military analyst Tom Cooper.

“We should expect the Russians to figure out some kind of ‘field work’ for their MiG-31 crews. At the very least, to get plenty of opportunities to use their missile strikes and attack UAVs to ‘lure’ F-16s into ambushes by R-37-equipped MiG-31s. This has happened in the past with Ukrainian MiG-29s and Su-27s: there is no reason to expect the Russians to give up such capabilities in the future,” the expert suggests in a large article published on the Substack publishing platform.

It is noteworthy that recently Ukrainian aircraft have been increasingly destroyed at air bases - both individually, using kamikaze drones, and several at a time, as a result of the use of Iskander tactical missiles. And Kyiv was unable to solve this problem before the appearance of the F-16.

So, most likely, they will have to be placed outside the country.

"With fairly good maneuvering capabilities, the aircraft uses highly purified kerosene. It is impossible to obtain it in Ukraine. Moreover, it has a sensitive chassis, which makes it unlikely that the fighter will be used at Ukrainian airfields. Therefore, most likely, the F-16 will be based abroad and used as cover aircraft or for launching guided missiles, possibly of the Taurus class," adds expert Artamonov.

Kyiv’s American partners may also insist on stationing aircraft outside of Ukraine.

The Biden administration never promised Kyiv even a hundred aircraft, despite the fact that Zelensky requested 150 to 200 aircraft. There is an opinion in the American media that even ten units are too many, because their loss would be extremely expensive. So, in light of all the reasons stated, it can be assumed that the functionality of the F-16 in the air will be seriously limited.

The aircraft fleet will be kept away from the front line, avoiding direct clashes with Russian fighters, to whom they are inferior in a number of characteristics. The fighters will also most likely not participate in "conquering dominance" over the Black Sea and will limit themselves to launching guided weapons.

And this is already a task for our air defense calculations - not to miss targets and reduce the effect of the delivery of fighters to the Ukrainian Armed Forces to a minimum.

#7  Most of this is just bunk about the F-16. If you want to talk about short legs for a US fighter, I give you the F-18.

But that being said, the versions that Ukraine has are slightly upgraded ones from 1991 that fought in Desert Storm. Did a great job blowing up Iraq's very good air defence, but there was a lot (AND I MEAN A LOT) of help from everything. Intel, jamming, sister wings, etc. Ukraine does not have that. So will the F-16s be useful? Yes, very. They are great air defense fighters for taking down larger drones and missiles and keeping the Russian aircraft 30km away from the front line.

Downside, the F-16s also have to stay 30km from the front line or they get knocked out of the sky as they don't have the same support as the US ones do. So mostly protecting Kiev and the factories while making the Russian jets dropping glide bombs nervous is their role for now.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Grain and Oil: Why the West Can't Block Russian Exports
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Ivan Lizan

[REGNUM] The past July was marked by attempts by Kiev and London to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, which was also the subject of the fourth summit of the European Political Community. It was preceded by statements by the acting Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine Taras Vysotsky about the need to create a system for determining the origin of grain exported by Russia, and at the summit, its participants also decided to fight the Russian "shadow fleet".

However, the sanctions practice of recent years shows that wanting does not always mean being able, and the implementation of sanctions is often hampered by objective circumstances: chemistry, physics and the foundations of international law. The desire to ban wheat from Novorossiya is in the sphere where chemistry plays against the West, and the "ban list" introduced by the British against the tanker fleet rests on international law.

Russia's opponents are stubborn and have not given up hope of inventing something that would force it to capitulate. But so far sanctions have proven extremely ineffective as instruments of coercion to change political course.

CHEMISTRY AGAINST THE WEST
On July 1, the already mentioned Vysotsky reported that in August–September, the Kyiv authorities will have the opportunity to determine the region of origin of agricultural products that Russia exports.

The next step is to create a system of punishment for buyers of grain from Novorossiya. They will try to subject ships carrying grain to sanctions or arrests, and intimidate buyers of the products with sanctions and possible restrictions. The fact that the UK is developing the system guarantees problems for ship owners with insurance.

But this plan, which at first glance seems feasible, has a number of flaws.

It is unclear how exactly the region of origin of grains and oilseeds will be determined. The world has been growing approximately the same varieties of agricultural plants for decades, and Russia is no exception.

Wheat is not oil, which is divided into grades depending on the content of sulfur and paraffin impurities. Russian wheat from the Kherson region is no different from wheat from the Rostov region - it does not have a gene responsible for the region of growth, or any specific markers that allow you to accurately determine the place of cultivation.

The only way to identify grain is to divide it into classes depending on its characteristics (gluten content, protein, presence of impurities, damage to grains by pests). They are universal for the whole world, which allowed wheat to become an exchange commodity.

Therefore, it will not be possible to separate grain from Novorossiya from grain from the Don or Kuban.

But it is not a fact that this will be done at all - if desired, any batch of grain or oilseeds can be declared "stolen from the Ukrainian people". However, this will not help the fighters against Russia: there are no "extra" grains in the world that could replace supplies from Russia. Russian agricultural exports have been restructured since the beginning of the NWO - 80% of supplies go to friendly or neutral countries, where goods are selected based on their quality and price.

Moreover, such activity will only accelerate the emergence of exchange trading centers independent of the US and EU: on July 28, the BRICS countries supported the initiative to create a grain exchange within the association.

"BRICK" OF INTERNATIONAL LAW
Now it is worth paying special attention to how the fundamental principles of international law reduce the effectiveness of anti-Russian sanctions. And we are not even talking about the hackneyed story of the confiscation of Russian gold and foreign exchange reserves frozen after the start of the special operation in the US and the EU.

We are talking about a "shadow fleet" of more than 600 tankers, which, according to Lloyd's List Intelligence, transport over 1.7 million barrels of Russian oil daily, allowing Russia to bypass Western sanctions and sell oil at a price above the established "price ceiling". The West considers such activity illegal, although from the standpoint of international law, any unilateral economic restrictions are illegal - sanctions can only be imposed by the UN Security Council.

To curb the fleet's operations, the UK and 44 EU countries agreed to "work together to combat the use of illegal vessels that pose a significant threat to the safety and environment of waterways."

In essence, the West has admitted that all previously imposed sanctions – a ban on Russian ships entering European ports, refusal to provide insurance and financial services, sanctions against individual ships, an oil embargo and a “price cap” – have proven ineffective. The lack of a single coordinated EU policy on sanctions enforcement, for example, was criticized by Laura Deegan, an adviser to the law firm Miller & Chevalier.

“Whether a member country cares about G7 sanctions or decides to enforce them is different. They may not have the resources to take sanctions enforcement seriously,” she told S&P Global in March 2024.

In such circumstances, the only way to force Russia to comply with oil sanctions is to create physical problems with oil exports by appealing to the topic of environmental protection. The logic is simple: Russia exports the lion's share of its oil from the Baltic Sea ports in old and unsafe tankers, thereby exposing the fragile ecosystem of the Baltic to environmental threats.

And since the tankers pass through the Danish straits of Oresund and Kattegat, Denmark has moral grounds to stop such oil trade, combining environmental protection with forcing Russia to comply with sanctions restrictions.

As with grain, this approach appears – from the point of view of Russia’s opponents – not only morally justified, but also quite feasible in practice. But there are several fundamental problems.

It is obvious that the environmental agenda is nothing more than a pretext - before the start of the NWO, the Baltic countries were not too concerned about this issue. Denmark, which, in the logic of the fight against the "shadow fleet", should be charged with the responsibility of restricting the passage of tankers, even approved the construction of four branches of the Nord Stream gas pipeline. Plus, the restriction of shipping has been discussed since about mid-2023, and it turns out that before that, the Western countries were not concerned about environmental issues either.

It is also clear that an "old" fleet does not mean "dangerous". A tanker is a vessel with a double hull, and examples of catastrophic oil spills are extremely rare. In general, they can be counted on the fingers of one hand. There are vessels in the seas that are much older than 30-40 years, and there are no questions about them from authorities and public figures concerned about environmental protection.

Moreover, restricting shipping for tankers, regardless of their flag and whether their shipowners comply with anti-Russian sanctions, would be a flagrant violation of international law.

CASUS BELLI
Maritime shipping is regulated by the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, and to combat the "shadow fleet" it will be necessary to violate many provisions of this document. And even if an accident occurs on a tanker with an oil spill, this will not be a violation of the rules of innocent passage through the territorial sea.

In addition, a sea vessel is considered the territory of the state whose flag it flies. Article 27 of the Convention stipulates that the criminal jurisdiction of a coastal state does not extend to vessels flying a foreign flag, with the exception of certain crimes related to that state. Thus, it is impossible to stop a vessel with Russian oil just like that, at the behest of the heart. This will become a casus belli - a pretext for declaring war on the state whose flag the vessel flies.

The Danish Straits are used for international shipping, and in such straits, Article 38 of the Convention guarantees the right of transit passage, which must be rapid and uninterrupted. Article 39 stipulates the duties of ships during transit passage, and there is not a word about the environment, not to mention the age of ships.

Denmark will not be able to write its own rules for transit passage for the "shadow fleet" tankers transporting Russian oil. And any transit rules must comply with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and be agreed upon with other states bordering the straits.

Moreover, Article 44 specifically states that states bordering the straits must not impede transit passage and there must be no suspension of it.

But even if we imagine practical attempts to restrict the passage of tankers with Russian oil, such activity will look extremely strange.

Firstly, tankers sail under a convenient flag, and the Russian flag does not apply to them. That is, the Danish coast guard will have to stop tankers from Liberia, the Bahamas, Belize and other island states that have no relation to Russia.

Secondly, ships have long been staffed with mixed crews, where Russian citizens often find themselves in the minority. And this means diplomatic problems with states that have no relation to Russia.

Thirdly, the owners of the tanker and cargo are usually foreign companies. An example is a Greek vessel under the flag of Liberia with a cargo of Russian oil purchased by an Emirati company for subsequent delivery to India. And this does not take into account the fact that while the ship is going from point A to point B, the transported cargo can be sold several times.

Simply put, getting involved in a fight with the Russian "shadow fleet" is not worth it: there will be no benefits, but there will be problems, and these problems will be serious, since maritime trade is extremely globalized. Moreover, such a fight could turn against Denmark itself. It is, without exaggeration, the leader in the global market of maritime cargo transportation: Maersk alone employs over 100 thousand people in 135 countries, so no one will put their companies at risk for the sake of fighting the transportation of Russian oil.

And there are plenty of “narrow” and “hot” places in the world’s oceans – just look at the Bab el-Mandeb Strait with the Houthis.

In fact, Kyiv and its sponsors returned to the topic of increasing the enforceability of sanctions due to the ineffectiveness of the initially imposed restrictions. In 2022, it was assumed that the European embargo on coal, oil and oil products, as well as the undermining of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, along with other restrictions, would lead to a sharp decline in federal budget revenues and force Russia to capitulate to the West. In reality, this did not happen.

Therefore, the very discussion about the fight against the Russian "shadow fleet" and the creation of some specific tracking systems indicates that the initiators of the sanctions have not achieved their goals. And the problem for the West is that the price of forcing Russia to submit is unacceptable for it.

15:37 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

South Donetsk direction: Russian Armed Forces take control of a section of the T-05-24 highway southwest of Konstantinovka.

– The situation in the South Donetsk direction continues to develop dynamically: if a few days ago we wrote about a significant expansion of the zone of control of the Russian Armed Forces practically along the entire line of contact, then the day before new evidence of the advancement of Russian troops appeared.

– Units of the Russian Armed Forces have occupied a section of land north of the T-05-24 highway in the area of the village of Pobeda. This is also evident from footage from the enemy side, which shows strikes on advancing Russian armored vehicles.

– To the southwest, assault groups cut off a section of the T-05-24 highway connecting Konstantinovka and Ugledar. The advance on this section was more than two kilometers, and a Russian flag was installed on the highway itself in the back of one of the vehicles.

– At the same time, the Russian Armed Forces continue to strike the enemy's frontline and rear facilities. One of the hits hit the Ukrainian Armed Forces ammunition depot on the territory of the hangar of the former agricultural firm "Agrotis".

– Russian UAV operators are also effective. Almost regularly, footage of successful destruction of Ukrainian armored vehicles appears on the Internet – one of them was a drone hitting an enemy infantry fighting vehicle south of Katerynivka.

– The capture by Russian troops of the section of the highway between Ugledar and Konstantinovka will allow both to strengthen the pressure on the southern outskirts of the latter and to worsen the situation of Ukrainian formations in the area of the Ikryanaya gully.

15:15 In Ivanovka, our units were able to push back the enemy in the center of the village. The fighting is shifting to the western outskirts.

14:47 Odessa region (Odessa).

Powerful explosion rang out in Odessa after a high-precision strike on a warehouse with NATO weapons.

Heavy smoke and fire above the landing site.

14:22 The Russian Armed Forces advanced south of Konstantinovka and reached the highway to Ugledar –map.

13:57 It is reported about our tactical aviation launching new strikes on the Ukroboronprom military plant and the Ukrainian Armed Forces repair shop near Khar'kov.

Early in the morning, Su-34M aircraft used high-precision cruise missiles Kh-59. Repair complexes and hangars with the parking of Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment were damaged on the territory of the plant.

13:29 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Pokrovsky direction: liberation of most of Timofeyevka and successes of the Russian Armed Forces on the southern flank of the "Pokrovsky salient".

– The situation in the Pokrovsky direction is developing rapidly – Russian troops are conducting an offensive in the area from Timofeevka to Yasnobrodovka. Despite the deployment of new units, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command is unable to stabilize the situation and stop the advance of the Russian Armed Forces. The situation of Ukrainian formations remains stably difficult, Russian attack aircraft are bypassing the enemy’s fortified positions and are actively hunting for armored vehicles using new drones.

– On the northern flank, units of the Russian Armed Forces occupied the southern part of Timofeevka, where there is a crossing over the Kazenny Torets River, used by the enemy to supply its units. The enemy still holds positions in the north of the village, but most of it has already come under the control of Russian troops.

South of the settlement, Russian attack aircraft hit a large stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the "wedge" in the positions of Ukrainian formations, which will form as a result of the liberation of Timofeevka, will simplify the subsequent offensive on neighboring Vozdvizhenka and Lisichnoye.

– Russian troops have established control over Vesyoloye, located northeast of the railway, along which the Russian Armed Forces had previously advanced in this area. Enemy units have retreated to fortified positions northeast of the settlement.

To the south, Russian attack aircraft were able to approach Zhelannoye and, according to some information, have already entered it in the area of ??the railway station. However, this information has not yet been confirmed either by footage or by reports from sources “on the ground”.

- The large stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the east, previously mentioned by us, was apparently also successfully occupied by units of the Russian Armed Forces. In many ways, this became possible due to the previously formed "semi-ring" around the enemy positions, which made it possible to cut off the Ukrainian Armed Forces units defending this area from supplies. Now the Russian troops have the opportunity to develop an offensive to the south, bypassing the strongholds of the Ukrainian formations on the right bank of the Volchya River.

– On the southern flank of the “Pokrovsky salient,” Russian troops are gradually advancing toward Mezhevoye, relying on the previously liberated Novoselovka Pervaya.

The enemy, seeking to slow down the advance of the Russian Armed Forces, is actively mining the approaches to both Mezhevoye itself and neighboring Skuchnoye. Minefields are also being installed in the area of the Volchya River bed to the west of both settlements, which are the enemy’s last line of defense on the left bank. After their liberation, the Russian Armed Forces will be able to force the water obstacle and develop an offensive toward Kamyshevka, creating a semicircle around the Ukrainian Armed Forces units fighting on the Zhelannoye-Mezhevoye line.

12:46 Ocheretino – Volchye.

Positional military actions in the Krasnoarmeysk area. The forward position of the Russian Armed Forces south of Volchye is under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A damaged Ukrainian Bradley infantry fighting vehicle. The Russian Armed Forces are advancing more than 1.5 km in the direction of Zhelannoye.

12:12 Frontline summary as of the morning of 02.08.2024

Zaporizhzhya Front. No significant changes in LBS. Positional battles continue in the Rabotino area and northwest of Verbovoye.

- Donetsk Front. In Krasnogorovka, fighting continues on the northern outskirts of the city. Also, Russian troops continue to clear the liberated part of Krasnogorovka.

Fierce fighting continues in the area of Karlovka, Ukrainian troops are holding on to their positions. Fighting also continues on the shore of the Karlovskoye Reservoir.

Russian troops are conducting active offensive actions to the south of Progress, where the Russian Armed Forces have advanced in Vesyoloye and Timofeyevka.

In New York, our troops have achieved more tactical successes. The Ukrainian Armed Forces risk being surrounded soon.

- Chasovoyarsk direction. Fighting continues in the eastern part of the city, while Russian troops are simultaneously taking measures to improve their positions on the northern and southern flanks.

- Khar'kov Front. In the area of Glubokoe, the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not abandon attempts to counterattack, sending more and more reserves into battle. Without results.

Heavy fighting continues in Vovchansk, where Ukrainian troops are also trying to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions, but instead, they have been losing their own in the last few days.

11:55 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

- In the Slobozhansky direction, fierce battles continue in Glubokoye and Vovchansk. Objective control footage also allowed us to clarify the configuration of the front line near Staritsa.

– In the Limansky direction, there are battles on the approaches to Makeyevka, where the Russian Armed Forces are trying to gain a foothold in the village, as well as in the Serebryansky forestry.

– In the Artemovsk direction, Russian paratroopers are gaining a foothold on the outskirts of the Oktyabrsky microdistrict in Chasov Yar.

- In the Pokrovsk direction, units of the Russian Armed Forces continue their offensive along the railway to Pokrovsk. Fighting is underway in Vesyoloye and on the approaches to Zhelannoye.

11:29 Russian Armed Forces drove the enemy out of Vesyoloye and advanced around Progress –map.

10:41 Su-35S fighters of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a patrol over the neutral waters of the Black Sea –video.

"Our task is to patrol the neutral waters of the Black Sea and prevent border violations. We also carry out round-the-clock combat duty. When an air target is detected, we report to the control center, where a decision is made to destroy the target or take it under escort," said the Su-35S pilot.

10:15 During the past night stopped attempts by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Air defense systems on duty destroyed two Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs over the territory of the Kursk region and intercepted four UAVs over the territory of the Krasnodar region.

09:44 Enemy reports:

"In addition to the captured Vesyoloye in the Pokrovsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces have advanced in a number of other populated areas: in the areas of Lisichnoye, Ivanovka, Sergeyevka and Zhelannoye. The situation in the Pokrovsk direction is critical for the Ukrainian Armed Forces."

08:17 Destruction of enemy manpower with a powerful blow from the T-80 in the Donetsk direction - tankers of the Southern Group provide fire support to motorized rifle units.

08:15 A tactical training instructor with the call sign “Wizard” told how the assault units of the “West” group of troops are trained –video.

08:11 Crews of T-72B3 tanks of the Northern Group of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed strongholds and combat equipment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces during combat operations. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

08:06 Stormtrooper abandoned anti-tank mine into the militants' fortified bunker

In the footage of the battle for Urozhainoye, Buryat attack aircraft demonstrate an unconventional approach. Our fighter throws an anti-tank mine into the nationalists' shelter. The explosion of eight kilograms of TNT literally destroys the concrete fortification. For this, the ammunition requires only a little modification.

"The detonator was unscrewed, TNT was placed on the mine, and a cap with a detonator was installed. That's it, we literally had 7 seconds from the moment it was thrown until detonation," said the shooter with the call sign Bely.

08:05 Vrem'evsky direction: bomber aviation of the "Vostok" group using FABs struck enemy positions in Neskuchny.

08:00 Anti-aircraft gunners of the Center group of forces destroyed a Ukrainian Armed Forces reconnaissance drone in the Avdeevka direction, the Ministry of Defense reported.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 2, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:07 Budanov did not rule out that the Crimean Bridge could be destroyed in the next few months: "Everyone is working on long-range strikes and on this. This all requires a comprehensive solution. The work is underway."

19:40 Russian troops attacked Mirnohrad in Donetsk Oblast, probably using two FAB-250 aerial bombs, the prosecutor's office reported. Three people were wounded, including two children aged seven and nine.

19:29 Russians are transferring new brigades to the Pokrovsk direction, said Ruslan Mikula, an analyst for the Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState. According to him, the situation in the Pokrovsk direction is extremely difficult: Ukraine has lost many villages and territories. "New Russian brigades are being transferred to the Pokrovsk direction. For example, one of the enemy brigades, which was previously recorded as having been defeated in the Krynki area, was restored in the Dzhankoy area and is now in the Berdychi area, west of Avdiivka. That is, the transfer continues, and it is difficult to predict how many more there will be, since the enemy does not take into account losses. The Russians have great human potential, which is being used to the maximum," Mikula noted.

19:20 Russians shelled occupied Volnovakha in Donetsk Oblast, killing one person, ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets reported. "That is, in essence, in order to stage a provocation, the aggressor country itself shells the territories under its control," the human rights ombudsman emphasized. According to him, hits were recorded in four different locations.

19:13 Zelensky said in an evening video address that he had listened to Syrsky's report on the situation at the front: "Most carefully, of course, regarding the Pokrovsky direction. There are always the toughest battles there, and this direction requires our most intensified responses to the occupier." In addition, the president heard Budanov's report. "The details are not public," the head of state added. Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported on cooperation with Turkey, among other things, on the continuation of the construction of corvettes for Ukraine.

In addition, Zelensky announced "absolutely modern solutions" for military personnel, which "will definitely remove a lot of unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork from units" and "have a truly innovative look."

18:56 During the day on August 2, the air defense of southern Ukraine shot down five reconnaissance drones: three Zala and two Supercam, the Air Force reported.

18:17 The Cabinet of Ministers approved the opening of all state border checkpoints for the supply of military goods, the Finance Ministry reported. The resolution provides for an expansion of the number of checkpoints for military goods during martial law, namely the unimpeded movement of military goods through all open checkpoints of the state border of Ukraine, including those coming from partner countries.

17:38 A new profession has been approved in Ukraine - deminer, the Ministry of Economy reported. Previously, there was no single professional standard for deminers in Ukraine, which complicated the training of specialists. The presence of a new standard creates uniform training rules, which will allow veterans to be involved in humanitarian demining and will facilitate their integration both in the Ukrainian and international spheres, the department noted.

17:15 The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution defining the mechanism for ensuring the activities of specialists in supporting war veterans and demobilized persons in the system of transition from military service to civilian life. In particular, this concerns the regulation of the issue of remuneration and the definition of the mechanism for organizing its activities.

16:54 The United States has purchased 18 powerful autotransformers for Ukraine, Ambassador Bridget Brink reported.

16:21 Another 700,000 people will leave Ukraine due to problems with electricity, the NBU predicts. In particular, according to the regulator's forecast, about 400,000 people will leave the country this year, and another 300,000 next year. A gradual return of migrants is expected from 2026.

15:43 The so-called six-point "consensus" between China and Brazil on ending the war in Ukraine has received support in more than 110 countries, said Li Hui, the Chinese government's special representative for Eurasia. According to him, the main priority now is "cooling the situation." The Chinese diplomat assured that Beijing is ready to strengthen contacts and coordination with the Brazilian side on the issue of a political settlement of the "crisis in Ukraine," and stressed the need for joint efforts to finally resolve it.

14:57 Representatives of the Ombudsman's Office met with employees of the Russian Human Rights Commissioner's Office, where they exchanged lists of prisoners of war according to the "200 to 200" formula and discussed humanitarian issues, Dmitry Lubinets reported. The Ombudsman also said that within the framework of family reunification provided for by the Geneva Convention, a daughter and son from Luhansk region were returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine, and they have already met with their mother. A woman who was reunited with her daughter also returned.

14:09 The Croatian authorities have decided to update the weapons of their armed forces, and old armored vehicles of Russian and Yugoslav production may be transferred to Ukraine, Vecernji list writes. According to the publication, the development plan of the Croatian Armed Forces until 2028 provides for the purchase of a significant amount of military equipment. The country's Defense Ministry is already negotiating with potential suppliers, but deliveries are delayed due to the priority delivery of weapons to Ukraine.

13:18 Russians attacked Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region - one person was killed, one was wounded, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

12:30 Telegram channel Krymskiy Veter reports, citing its sources, that last night in Sevastopol, at the heights of Kaya-Bash, a position of the S-400 Triumf anti-aircraft missile system was preliminarily hit - four launchers based on the MAZ-543 and a 92N6 radar.

12:19 Ukraine has returned home the bodies of another 250 fallen defenders, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported.

12:14 Russian troops attacked Kherson from a drone. People who were on the street came under enemy attack: one person was killed, one was wounded, reported the head of the OVA Alexander Prokudin.

11:39 In the morning, Russians used a drone to strike a bus with people in the Dergachev community of the Kharkiv region - six construction workers were injured, said the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

11:01 Russians attacked the Esman community in Sumy Oblast with FPV drones, one person was injured, OVA reported.

10:46 The Indian government has announced that it is currently aware of eight Indians recruited by Russia who have died in the war in Ukraine. Another 63 Indians are trying to get an early discharge from the Russian army, where they were tricked into joining.

10:19 At night, two drones hit the 500 kV Kubanskaya substation in Tikhoretsk, Krasnodar Krai, the Russian opposition publication Astra reports, citing sources in the region's emergency services. A fire broke out and air circuit breakers were damaged. There were no casualties.

09:20 Over the past 24 hours, as a result of Russian shelling, five people were wounded in Donetsk Oblast and three in Kherson Oblast, according to the OVA.

09:14 Over the past and current day, 11 UAVs have been shot down by air defense in the southern and eastern directions: one Shahed, two Supercams, three Lancets, one Orlan-10 and four more drones, the type of which is being determined, the Air Force reported.

08:32 The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports, citing geolocation footage, that Russian troops continue to slowly but steadily advance in the Pokrovsk direction, largely due to the lack of Ukrainian manpower and the terrain features in the area northwest of Avdiivka. In particular, Russian troops have advanced within Veseloye in the direction of the T0511 road, and to date, the furthest confirmed advance of Russian troops has been recorded approximately 3.5 km from the outskirts of Grodovka.

At the same time, ISW predicts that the Russian advance toward Pokrovsk will slow as Russian troops approach a line of larger, more urbanized settlements. However, analysts point out that Ukrainian troops are now much more exhausted than they were in early 2024, when the Russians captured Avdiivka.

07:58 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of August 2:

  • personnel - about 580 590 (+1100) people,

#4  Half of Ukraine are no go areas for Ukrainian and former Soviet officials. Western Ukraine is so lawless. It is unbelievable to hear the tales of mass murder of innocents in the 1960s, out for a night of camping. It is an area rife with organized crime and it is a major smuggling route for goods, drugs, and slaves.

Check out the stories I wrote about Mukhachevo in 2015 to get a sense of just how bad it is. You think they give a fuck about Right Sector or any others in their territory?

Blackrock just pissed their investment away if they think their investment is safe from Banderists and criminals who control the area.

Think Ukrainian-speaking hillbillies with AKs and RPGs.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Live 2-foot eel chews through man's intestines after he put it up his anus
Kids! Don't try this at home!
[NYPOST] Vietnamese doctors removed a live 2-foot-long eel from a man’s abdomen — that had chewed through his intestines after he shoved it up his anus.

The nauseating discovery was made when a 31-year-old Indian national was admitted to Viet Duc Hospital in Hanoi on July 27 with excruciating abdominal pain, according to Vietnam News.

Doctors learned that the adventurous patient had slipped the phallic fish up his backside earlier in the day — and it tried to escape.

“The eel had bitten through the patient’s rectum and colon to escape into the abdominal cavity,” said Le Nhat Huy, vice director of the Department of Colorectal and Perineal Surgery.

The patient was immediately examined and underwent several imaging tests, including an X-ray that showed the eel’s skeleton lying inside his abdominal cavity.

Doctors attempted to remove the foreign object through the man’s anus — but they discovered a large lime that he had also inserted blocking the way.
OK, I get the eel, but the lime just makes it kinda weird
Would you want to have to worry about an angry eel exiting that close to your precious male bits?
Instead, doctors opted for an emergency surgery.

They sliced open the the patient’s torso and found the live eel, stretching more than 25 inches long and roughly 4 inches in diameter.

The creature and the lime were both removed.

After checking for any additional foreign objects hiding inside the man, they stitched him up. Surgeons also performed a colostomy to prevent fecal matter from passing through the cut made by the eel’s bite.

Doctors at the hospital told Vietnam News that they’ve dealt with patients, typically young men, who have put objects up their bums for sexual pleasure.

Viet Duc Hospital has previously removed bottles, cups
Cups?!?!! The things I absolutely do not want to understand…
and adult toys from patients’ anuses— but this is the first case involving a live animal.

“Eels can survive in anaerobic conditions for a long time and have the ability to bite through the gastrointestinal tract,” Huy warned.

“Therefore, people should never insert live animals through the anus to seek intense sensations due to the unforeseeable consequences.”

This, however, was not the first time an eel was removed from someone’s backside in Vietnam this year.

In March, a 12-inch eel slid up a 43-year-old man’s anus. He was rushed to the Hai Ha District Medical Center in Quang Ninh Province, where the sea creature was removed.

Hezbollah resumes operations after Shukur's funeral
[An Nahar] Hezbollah targeted Friday Israeli soldiers in the Dhaira post with artillery shells and a post in the occupied Kfarshouba Hills, as it resumed its operations against Israel, three days after Israel killed a top Hezbollah commander.

Israeli drones meanwhile raided the southern towns of Rab Tlatine and Dhaira.

Thursday's attack was the first since Israel killed top commander Fouad Shukur on Tuesday evening.

The commander's killing has triggered fears of a cycle of escalation that could spark a regional war that has been narrowly avoided over the past 10 months.

The violence since October has killed at least 542 people on the Lebanese side, most of them fighters but also including 114 civilians.

At least 22 soldiers and 25 civilians have been killed on the Israeli side, including in the annexed Golan Heights.

-Land of the Free
After 25 years, VDARE.com succumbs to lawfare
Vicious.
[VDare] Peter Brimelow: Why We've Suspended Vdare And I've Resigned After 25 Years

Someone I know recently lost his daughter. She was exactly the same age as my son Alexander, and in fact we have pictures of them together as babies.

Needless to say, losing VDARE.com is absolutely nothing compared to that.

But it still hurts.

Very soon, the VDARE.com website will be suspended. We are currently unsure for how long the archives will remain accessible, or even if they will be accessible at all.

(We do think that our social media, however, will still function).

So my role here has been destroyed. After 25 years, I am resigning as Editor of VDARE.com and from the VDARE.com Foundation board.

My wife Lydia will continue for now as President of the VDARE Foundation, handling the administrative details of winding down—and, of course, paying lawyers.

One bright spot: The Berkeley Springs Castle, which is where we’re filming this, is owned by a separate foundation that is based in West Virginia. It will continue to host Dissident conferences as well as normie events like weddings and so on—if any of you want to get married and battle the Great Replacement.

VDARE.com was a highly successful operation—particularly after Lydia solved the problem of us getting our conferences cancelled by buying the Castle.

But it has been murdered by New York State Attorney General Letitia James.

It’s important to note that she’s not charged us with anything. But under James, New York State has become what liberal law professor Jonathan Turley has described as “The Land The Law Forgot.”

She has waged unprecedented, unethical and unscrupulous lawfare against, for example, the National Rifle Association and, most notoriously, against President Donald J. Trump.

And, much lower down the food chain, against the VDARE Foundation.

We have been registered, alas, in New York State since 1999, before anyone had ever heard of lawfare. Or of Letitia James.

To repeat: James has not charged us with anything. She has simply battered us to death by a massive and intrusive “investigation” that bears no rational relationship to any conceivable offense. We estimate we’ve spent upwards of a million dollars on compliance, let alone hundreds of hours of work. All of these resources should have gone to our mission: advancing the cause of Patriotic Immigration Reform.

Letitia James is quite obviously aiming at suppressing our speech. But the New York State courts have completely declined to protect our First Amendment rights.

We can’t go on.

But there are three other interlocking issues that are also forcing us to suspend.

  • The first one is the extraordinary wave of Cancellation that we've experienced increasingly over the last several years.

It extends even to personal matters, for example our long-time personal financial advisor, who's been with us 15 or 16 years, was forced to drop us recently.

Americans generally don't understand what is actually going on here—how this de facto “Social Credit “system, like the one the Chinese Communists have, being used to suppress patriots.
