IDF: Dozens of tunnels razed on Gaza-Egypt border, 17,000 terror operatives killed in war
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, repeating claim that guard killed hostage, says captor acted against its ‘ethics’; it publishes propaganda image of Ofir Tzarfati, a hostage whose body IDF recovered 8 months ago

The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday that more than 50 tunnels discovered along the Philadelphi Corridor, along the Egypt-Gazoo

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. for smuggling arms into the Strip.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari saod Thursday that the military has killed more than 17,000 terror operatives in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war.

He said in a presser that the IDF’s "significant fighting" and achievements had harmed Hamas’s ability to regroup and recover. "We are determined to continue this," he said.

In an update on Thursday morning, the military said dozens of button men had been killed over the past day and sites belonging to Hamas and other terror groups were destroyed in operations.

More than 30 Hamas sites, including booby-trapped buildings, tunnels, and weapon depots, were targeted in Arclight airstrike

s across Gaza, according to the military.

The IDF said that in southern Gaza’s Rafah, troops killed more than 20 terror operatives by directing airstrikes.

Further north, in Khan Younis, troops with the 98th Division directed strikes against several Hamas operatives at a weapons depot. In another strike in Khan Younis, a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad

operative responsible for rocket launches was killed, the IDF said.

The IDF on Thursday issued a new evacuation order for Paleostinians in the Khan Younis area in the southern Gaza Strip, following recent rocket attacks on Israel. Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, published a list of the zones that needed to be evacuated. The announcement called for Paleostinians in the Khan Younis suburb of al-Qarara to evacuate to the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
in the Netzarim Corridor of central Gaza, the IDF said that several cells of button men were killed, and a weapons depot was destroyed in strikes during operations over the past day.

On Thursday morning, one rocket was fired from Gaza at the border community of Kissufim. The IDF said the rocket struck an open area, causing no injuries.

HAMAS PROPAGANDA IMAGE OF HOSTAGE
Meanwhile the military wing of Hamas on Thursday said that a guard it claims rubbed out a hostage under his charge in the Strip had acted out of vengeance and against the terror group’s protocols.

The Israel Defense Forces has not been able to confirm or deny the claims made by Hamas earlier this week that its guards rubbed out a hostage and seriously maimed two other female captives.

Hudhaifa Kahlout — known by the nom de guerre Abu Obeida — the front man for the Al Qassam Brigades, provided an update on Hamas’s investigation into the alleged killing. He said in a series of messages on Telegram that the terror group’s investigation found that the guard "acted in Dire Revenge, contrary to instructions, after receiving news of the martyrdom of his two children in one of the enemy’s massacres."

"We stress that the incident does not represent our ethics," Abu Obeida said, adding that the protocols for guarding prisoners would be "tightened."

It was the first time Hamas has acknowledged its guards killed hostages. The terror group has attributed previous deaths of hostages to Israeli strikes. Israel has generally dismissed Hamas’s statements on the deaths of hostages as deplorable psychological warfare.

Alongside Abu Obeida’s statement, Hamas also published a propaganda image showing the body of an Israeli hostage, alongside the text "An unfortunate incident" and "Your brutality has become an imminent danger to your prisoners." It was unclear whether Hamas was claiming the hostage in the photo was the one executed by the guard, or a separate case.

The IDF in a statement said that the remains of the hostage in the photo had been returned in a special operation last year. "This is a hostage who was murdered and his body was returned in an IDF and Shin Bet operation at the end of November," the military said, adding that the family of the hostage had been updated by IDF representatives.

The hostage was later identified as Ofir Tzarfati, his mother confirmed in a statement issued by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.

Tzarfati, 27, was shot and maimed as he was kidnapped from the Supernova music festival on October 7. On November 27, the IDF declared that he was confirmed dead, and on December 1, the military announced it had recovered his body from Gaza and he was laid to rest in Kiryat Ata.

The terror group kidnapped 251 people during its thousands-strong rampage through southern Israel on October 7, which left nearly 1,200 people dead.

It is believed that 111 of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of 39 confirmed dead by the IDF. The terror group is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.

At the beginning of the war, Abu Obeida threatened to execute Israeli hostages and release footage of the killings.

Republicans, Economist slam Harris plan to lower food prices: 'Economic lunacy'
[NYPOST] Vice President Kamala Harris' plan to grant the federal government expansive new authority to control food and grocery prices was roundly criticized Thursday by several Republicans and economists, who argued that it was ''big government on steroids'' and ''economic lunacy.''

The 59-year-old Democratic presidential nominee's economic agenda calls for the ''first-ever federal ban on price gouging on food and groceries'' to be implemented within her first 100 days as president in order to ''bring down Americans' grocery costs and keep inflation in check,'' according to the Harris campaign, which released details of the plan ahead of Friday's official unveiling.

#14  Come on, man! Just because price controls never worked in the history of Ever does not necessarily mean they won't work now. If you keep flipping a coin, it eventually comes up heads, amirite?

And if we are being pedantic, price controls *do* work, at least in the short term. "Short term" being the week or so it takes for the supply chain to empty and for producers to realize that if a thing costs $2 to make, selling it for $1 is not a winning move. But that's nothing more wage & price controls can't fix, at least until the entire economy craters.

It only took us 66 years to go from manned flight at Kitty Hawk to landing on the Moon. If centrally-planned economies could work, someone would have done it by now. In the meantime, we need to nationalize everything to stop wreckers, hoarders, and kulaks from gumming up the works.

Kamala Harris Stonewalls Congressional Probe Into NatSec Adviser's Ties to Iran Influence Network
[WFB ht Insty] Vice President Kamala Harris is stonewalling a congressional inquiry into her national security adviser's ties to an Iranian government influence network, the Washington Free Beacon has learned.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R., Ark.) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.) launched the inquiry last month into Harris adviser Phil Gordon's longstanding relationship with Pentagon official Ariane Tabatabai, who was outed last year as an alleged member of an Iranian-run influence network that reported back to Tehran's foreign ministry.

Cotton and Stefanik gave Harris an Aug. 9 deadline to provide detailed information about Gordon's relationship with Tabatabai and links to pro-Tehran advocacy groups, which the lawmakers said raise questions about his eligibility to hold a top-secret security clearance. Harris did not reply.

"You failed to respond by my deadline or to appropriately address this threat to national security emanating from your staff," Cotton wrote to the vice president's office on Thursday, according to a copy of the letter obtained by the Free Beacon. "The presence of such an obvious security risk in your inner circle should have elicited your utmost attention. It raises the question of whether you've been aware of Mr. Gordon's possible links to the Iranian regime and simply find your policies aligned enough with Tehran's interests that ties to that regime don't concern you."

Gordon has emerged as one of Harris's closest foreign policy advisers and is expected to play a central national security role if she is elected president, including potentially as secretary of state. Harris has already onboarded several campaign advisers who support increased diplomacy with Iran, including Ilan Goldenberg, her former Middle East adviser and current campaign liaison to the Jewish community.

Harris has also expressed a willingness to publicly clash with Israel and pressure it to stop confronting Tehran's terror proxies, including Hamas and Hezbollah. She called in March for an immediate Israeli ceasefire, rebuking the Jewish state for sparking a "humanitarian catastrophe" in Gaza.

"I understand that it may be difficult to discern Iranian agents from the left-wing ideologues on your staff," Cotton wrote. "But you have the responsibility to make these difficult distinctions and appropriately vet the people you elevate to positions of distinction and trust."

According to an initial July 31 investigatory letter from Cotton and Stefanik, Gordon published multiple articles with Tabatabai "blatantly promoting the Iranian regime's perspective and interests."

Those pieces were published after Tabatabai was alleged to be working for the Iran Experts Initiative, an influence network that included several American policymakers associated with the Biden administration's former Iran envoy, Robert Malley, who was indefinitely suspended from his job amid allegations he leaked classified information.

In a March 2020 article, Gordon and Tabatabai "claimed continued sanctions on Iran would create 'catastrophe' in the Middle East," according to Cotton and Stefanik's letter. In another piece, Gordon and Tabatabai claimed economic sanctions on Tehran could prompt Iran to "lash out with attacks on its neighbors, and on Americans and American interests in the Middle East."

"Each prediction was as wrong," Cotton and Stefanik said last month, "as it was biased in favor of Tehran."

Tabatabai was found to have visited the Biden-Harris White House at least eight times after her links to the Iranian influence network were exposed, the Free Beacon first reported earlier this week. Those visits included meetings organized by the White House Presidential Personnel Office, which is responsible for recruiting and vetting nominees across the government.

Gordon met in February at the White House with Ali Vaez, a pro-Tehran analyst who, along with Tabatabai, reportedly has ties to the Iranian influence operation, visitor logs show.

Harris, Cotton said in his latest letter, must "immediately investigate Mr. Gordon's ties to the Iranian regime and provide responses" to the July 31 letter.

Cotton further notes that, since that initial letter, Gordon has continued "to demonstrate a pattern of anti-Israel bias, which furthers Iranian interests."

In an Aug. 10 tweet, for instance, Gordon said he is "deeply concerned about reports of civilian casualties in Gaza" and accused Israel of targeting "innocent Palestinians."

"If he's willing to ridicule Israel so unfairly in public," Cotton wrote to Harris, "we can only imagine what he is telling you in private."

A Biden-Harris administration official derided Cotton's letter as "baseless and absurd" and defended Gordon's "career as a national security expert and public servant respected on both sides of the aisle."

California 'shaman' charged with sexual assault, including victim under 14
[NYPOST] A ''shamanistic leader'' of a religious community in Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, was arrested after two female victims came forward and accused him of sexual assault, including one girl who was under 14, authorities said.

Ricardo I. Flores, 59, who also goes by ''Koyote the Blind,'' is facing eight felony charges, including rape by force and aggravated sexual assault of a child, according to the Riverside County District Attorney's Office, the New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported.

Flores, who was described by police as the ''religious leader of a shamanistic community at various locations'' in Riverside County, was arrested on the morning of Aug. 7 at the southern border where he was returning to the US from Mexico, the Riverside County Sheriff's Office said.

The Rialto resident was targeted by Sherlocks after ''multiple'' victims went to the sheriff's station in Moreno Valley on Aug. 1 to report sexual assaults that Flores allegedly committed at Xicoco Shamanic Arts — a nonprofit organization Flores leads in the city.

Secret Service Agent Abandoned Post During Trump Rally To Breastfeed
[Federalist] A female Secret Service agent assigned to protect former President Donald Trump at a recent rally left her post to breastfeed her child without proper approval, according to a new report.

Citing sources within the agency, RealClearPolitics (RCP) reporter Susan Crabtree revealed Thursday that an agent tasked with defending Trump at the former president’s Wednesday rally in Asheville, North Carolina, "abandoned her post to breastfeed with no permission/warning to the event site agent."

According to Crabtree, the site agent responsible for overseeing security for the rally was conducting a "final sweep of the walking route" five minutes before Trump’s motorcade arrived and found the female agent "breast-feeding her child in a room that is supposed to be set aside for important Secret Service official work, i.e. a potential emergency related to the president." Two members of the female agent’s family were also purportedly found in the room.

"A working agent on duty cannot bring a child to a protective assignment," the report reads.

The sources who spoke with Crabtree reportedly claimed the agent and her family members "bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint" and were led into the room by an event staffer who was not properly cleared by the Secret Service to be in that location. The agent in question came from the agency’s Atlanta field office, according to Crabtree.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi seemingly confirmed the incident did, in fact, occur. In a statement to RCP, Guglielmi claimed the agent’s reported abandonment of her post made "no impact to the North Carolina event" but added that "the specifics of [the] incident are being examined."

Given her actions and poor choices, she does not belong in the USSS.

#11  FYI:. Reports are that Butler, Pennsylvania SWAT team member first shot at the Trump sniper striking his rifle possibly disabling it which also resulted in fragments of the rifle hitting the shooter in the face and shoulder. The SWAT team member then charged toward the sniper who had ducked down. The sniper raised his head back up and was then shot in the face by a Secret Service sniper.

Also, what I found interesting from Trump's press conference yesterday was his comment that he would be relying on local law enforcement agencies in the deportation of criminal illegal aliens rather than federal law enforcement. Seems he has no faith in the DOJ or Home Land Security.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said about 56% of Hamas' estimated 30,000 forces have been wiped out since Israel waged war following the Oct. 7 massacre.

Hagari said the blow has greatly affected Hamas' ability to regroup and recover as small battalions have continued to resurface across Gaza after months of intense fighting.

Florida Congreswoman criticized for modeling her great figure

The freshman Florida representative took to social media to address the controversy surrounding a recently resurfaced clip of her posing in the booty-baring one-piece in front of an American flag.

Luna struck a defiant yet cheeky tone in response to the scuttlebutt of her shameless support of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2016.

Gates-backed Forces Behind Covid Tyranny & Injections Prep for "Next" Pandemic
[New American] The same forces and globalist organizations involved in the Covid-19 injections and the unprecedented global tyranny imposed under the guise of fighting the virus are preparing for a potentially catastrophic H5N1 Avian Influenza "bird flu." Prominent doctors and critics are already sounding the alarm.

Just last month, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) joined forces with the far-left Brazilian government to quietly host the Global Pandemic Preparedness Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The goal: war game and urge governments to prepare for the next pandemic in partnership with global health "authorities" and Big Pharma.

Speakers, including self-styled "public-health experts," warned that new "vaccines" would have to be developed and deployed within 100 days of an outbreak, and that even people in poorer nations would have to be injected. They hope to have the jabs on the shelf ready to go for whatever real or imagined boogeyman may be lurking.

Participants also claimed alleged man-made "climate change" was helping fuel the threat. The allegations echo claims made by global "public health" leaders arguing that everything from gun violence and racism to global warming are "public-health" emergencies requiring urgent action.

The international news media was largely silent on the important Rio summit, even as more and more officials and "experts" warned of a potential bird-flu pandemic that could cause unprecedented fatalities. The U.S. government is already funneling taxpayer funds to Moderna and other Big Pharma interests under the guise of preparing a bird-flu "vaccine."

Meanwhile, policymakers and Big Pharma officials are preparing for the "International Bird Flu Summit" in D.C. from October 2-4. The objective of the summit is to prepare for, among other possibilities, a "mass fatality management planning," delivery of "vaccines," and "surveillance," the website for the event explains.

Pakistan 'completes second trial of firewall' amid internet slowdown
[GEO.TV] Amid an outcry from internet users and digital rights activists over the disruption of digital platforms and slow internet speed, Pak authorities have completed 2nd trial run of its much-debated firewall, telecom sources told Geo News on Thursday.
Protecting the nation from un-Islamic influences. And porn.
The firewall was installed on internet service providers (ISPs) possessing deep packet inspection (DPI) capability, the sources said adding that the firewall has been installed in view of national security concerns.

The telco sources also confirmed that mobile signals and internet services slowed down due to the installation of a new firewall aimed at blocking unwanted content.

They claimed that all social media services would return to normal speed in two to three days after the conclusion of the firewall's trial period.

The first trial run was said to be carried out in July which resulted in the slowing down of social media platforms.

The federal government had allocated more than Rs30 billion in the development budget for the acquisition and installation of this filtering system.

The allocation was made to the Ministry of Information Technology; however, the execution of this project is being done from another power centre.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the adverse impacts after installing the firewall drew criticism from local netizens and digital rights organizations who expressed fear about the future of internet-based businesses in Pakistain.

As internet users in Pakistain continue to reel under prevailing access and speed issues, the Wireless and Internet Service Providers Association of Pakistain (WISPAP) has blamed the phenomenon on increased security and surveillance whose adverse repercussions might lead to severe economic repercussions.

"It’s a very discouraging situation for our customers [...] Many are leaving the smaller ISPs because they cannot sustain the poor service quality anymore. If this continues, we will see a mass exodus of businesses from Pakistain," said

Jordanian Citizen Arrested for Explosives Threats and Attack on Energy Facility in Florida
[Townhall] The Department of Justice (DOJ) sent out an alarming announcement on Wednesday, revealing that "Man Arrested for Explosives Threats and Attack on Energy Facility." What the subject line leaves out, however, is that he's a Jordanian citizen and that he looks to have been motivated by anti-Israel views. The defendant, Hashem Younis Hashem Hnaihen, is being charged "with four counts of threatening to use explosives and one count of destruction of an energy facility."

Hnaihen is described as a 43-year-old "Jordanian citizen residing in Orlando, Florida." He was also ordered "detained pending trial," according to a blurb from Thursday, complete with pictures of the incidents mentioned.

The blurb also referenced statements from top DOJ officials, including Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray. A common theme of such statements focused on how Hnaihen was motivated by his anti-Israel beliefs:

"We allege that the defendant threatened to carry out hate-fueled mass violence in our country, motivated in part by a desire to target businesses for their perceived support of Israel," said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. "Such acts and threats of violence, whether they are targeting the places that Americans frequent every day or our country’s critical infrastructure, are extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated by the Justice Department."

"Under the guise of expressing his beliefs, the defendant allegedly attacked a power facility and threatened local businesses, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages," said FBI Director Christopher Wray. "Violence and destruction of property to threaten and intimidate others will never be tolerated. The FBI and our partners will work together to pursue and hold accountable those who resort to violence."

"Targeting and attacking businesses for perceived beliefs is unacceptable," said U.S. Attorney Roger Handberg for the Middle District of Florida. "The U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to investigate and federally prosecute those who make violent mostly peaceful or hate-based threats and who seek to act on these threats."

The attacks began in June 2024 and "escalated." According to court documents, Hnaihen is said to have sent letters to the U.S. government making a list of political demands.

As the blurb also explained:

According to court documents, beginning around June 2024, Hnaihen targeted and attacked businesses in the Orlando area for their perceived support for Israel. Wearing a mask, under the cover of night, Hnaihen smashed the glass front doors of businesses and left behind "Warning Letters."

In his letters, which were addressed to the United States government, Hnaihen laid out a series of political demands, culminating in a threat to "destroy or explode everything here in whole America. Especially the companies and factories that support the racist state of Israel."

Hnaihen’s attacks escalated. At the end of June, as law enforcement worked to identify the masked attacker, Hnaihen broke into a solar power generation facility in Wedgefield, Florida, and spent hours systematically destroying solar panel arrays. He smashed panels, cut wires, and targeted critical electronic equipment. Hnaihen left behind two more copies of his threatening demand letter. Hnaihen is believed to have caused more than $700,000 in damage.

Following a multiagency effort, law enforcement identified Hnaihen and arrested him on July 11, shortly after another "Warning Letter" threatening to "destroy or explode everything" was discovered at an industrial propane gas distribution depot in Orlando.

If convicted, Hnaihen "faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison for each threat offense and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for the destruction of an energy facility offense," and could thus face the rest of his life in prison.

Suspect Wanted in Connection to Burglary of Trump Campaign Office in VA Has Been Identified
[Townhall] Law enforcement identified the suspect wanted in connection to the burglary of a Trump campaign office in Ashburn, Virginia, on Sunday.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release they secured a warrant for the arrest of 39-year-old Toby Shane Kessler, on burglary.

At approximately 8:11 p.m., Kessler allegedly forced access through a back door and spent a short period of time in the building, which also serves as the headquarters for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee, before leaving. He did not appear to leave anything in the building, but it has yet to be determined whether he took anything.

While Kessler has been identified, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office is still attempting to locate him.

"Mr. Kessler has a history of criminal behavior and appears to have been in the Washington metropolitan area at least since 2018. He has a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, driver’s license," said the news release.

A previous news release identified him as "a white adult male" who was "wearing dark clothing, a dark cap, and a backpack when he entered the location."

'The situation is bad for the enemy.' The Russian army is finishing off the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass
Direct Translation vi Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] While Russian troops are stabilizing the situation in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces front in Donbass continues to rapidly crumble. As President Vladimir Putin stated earlier, the pace of the Russian army's advance after the events in the Kursk region has not only not slowed down, but has actually increased.

“The pace of offensive operations by the Russian armed forces, volunteers, and veterans has not only not decreased, but on the contrary, has increased by 1.5 times,” the head of state noted on August 12 at an operational meeting with representatives of the security bloc on the situation in the Kursk region.

In the Pokrovsk area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were driven out of two settlements at once in one day: Zhelannoye and Pokrovka. Footage of Russian soldiers taken directly in both settlements appeared online.

The fact of the promotion is also confirmed by sources from the Ukrainian analytical resource DeepState.

Later, information appeared that the Russian Armed Forces entered the settlement of Grodovka and occupied the southeastern part of the settlement. According to other information, from half to 2/3 of the settlement came under the control of the Russian army. Formations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the western part of the settlement.

Information about the advance in the Pokrovsk direction was confirmed to Regnum by a source in the ranks of the 1st Army Corps.

"I won't name specific locations and references, but in recent days the progress has been almost non-stop, we are taking up more and more new positions, consolidating, moving forward. There are already jokes that we will celebrate September 1 in Pokrovsk. Expectations are the most optimistic," says the agency's interlocutor.

The location of the village of Grodovka does not allow for the organization of powerful defensive lines. The village is located in a lowland, while Russian troops occupy the surrounding heights. Supply routes and positions in the village itself become easy targets for artillery.

Further north, Russian troops also drove the enemy out of the settlement of Ivanovskoye, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

“Units of the Center group of forces actively liberated the settlement of Ivanovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the department noted.

Some sources also confirm progress in the settlements of Orlovka and Zhuravka.

Thus, Russian troops reached the line Grodovka - Novogrodovka, the last large settlements on the approaches to the agglomeration - Pokrovsk - Mirnograd.

At the same time, Ukrainian and Western sources, commenting on the situation in the Pokrovsk direction, assess the situation as extremely difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"The Ukrainian front line in Donetsk continues to collapse: Russian troops have occupied the settlements of Orlovka and Zhelannoye and are now only 13 km east of Pokrovsk," reports German military observer Julian Röpke.

And in Ukrainian Telegram channels they even ask the question: “Do we even have a front line in the Pokrovsk area?”

It seems that there is no front as such. All lines of fortifications created in this direction in recent weeks are already in the rear of Russian troops, as evidenced by satellite images published on the Internet. And the local Ukrainian "authorities" are directly calling on the population to leave Pokrovsk as soon as possible.

"We see that today the enemy has almost come very close to our community, to the city of Pokrovsk. Just over 10 kilometers from the outskirts of the city of Pokrovsk... I ask you not to delay and evacuate," said the head of the city's military administration, Sergei Dobryak, in his video address.

No less panicky reports from the Ukrainian side are coming from another section of the front. Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have made significant advances in the area of the Toretsk agglomeration north of Donetsk.

The day before, Russian military personnel, including fighters from the 1st Slavyansk Brigade, published a photo taken in the village of Zheleznoye, south of the city of Toretsk. The fighters also recorded a video in which they announced the complete liberation of the village.

The settlement is closely adjacent to Toretsk, where military action has already begun.

"From Zheleznoye/Zaliznoye, we can advance directly to Toretsk, we can take it to the west, in the direction of the settlement of Nelepovka. This will allow us to encircle the Ukrainian Armed Forces that are still holding out in New York, primarily in the industrial zone. We will act as the command decides. But the situation for the enemy is bad in any case," explains the source of the IA Regnum.

Ukrainian analysts admit that in the Toretsk direction, "military actions continue on the eastern outskirts of Toretsk and in the area of the village of New York, located to the south of the city." There are also reports of "an expansion of the zone of control" of Russian troops in New York itself.

At the same time, a number of analysts claim that the Torets front is in desperate need of reserves, because, in fact, the city garrison has lost control of the situation and continues to hold individual pockets of defense and supply routes. However, the most combat-ready units that could be sent to the front are currently deployed in the Kursk region, which puts Ukrainian troops in the Donbas in a catastrophic situation.

It is noteworthy that official Ukrainian sources practically ignore the situation in Donbass, concentrating entirely on covering the situation in the Kursk border area.

It is unknown whether Kyiv has a plan B in case the Donetsk front finally collapses and the Kursk adventure does not bring results.

For now, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command has 10 to 15 newly formed brigades and aviation supplied by NATO up its sleeve. At a critical moment, these forces could be deployed in Donbass or in a new direction, where Kyiv could once again try to launch a counteroffensive.

#1  "10 to 15 newly formed brigades" 6-10 month delays then shelling 10 and returned fire 50. Typical waste of resources. Ukrainian brigade I would guess would be a mixed bunch of 1000 men seeing as how they have low field numbers anyway. Then no supplies. Z method throw them in to be wasted. Last hurrah before New Us President hopefully Trump.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 15, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:57 A Public Council will be created under the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the negotiating group will be expanded, and special attention during the negotiations will be given, in particular, to women, the seriously ill and seriously wounded, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported.

22:20 Russians dropped two guided aerial bombs on civilian infrastructure in the Krasnopolskaya community of the Sumy district - one person was killed, two were wounded. The premises of a local enterprise were damaged, the prosecutor's office reported.

22:14 Zelensky submitted a bill to the Rada, according to which the military participating in the operation on the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular in the Kursk region, will receive all the payments and preferences that are provided for the front lines in Ukraine.

21:57 The Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to break through to the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation in the area of the Kolotilovka checkpoint, but they failed, The Washington Post writes, citing Ukrainian military personnel. "Unlike the Kursk region, the Russian Armed Forces in the Belgorod region were ready for the arrival of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The territory was fortified with dragon teeth and heavily mined. The Ukrainian Armed Forces almost immediately came under heavy attack from artillery, drones and airstrikes," the military said. According to them, the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced about 10 km, capturing abandoned Russian positions, but the fighting was intense.

21:35 Russians shelled Verkhnekamenskoye in the Zvanovsky community of Donetsk Oblast, killing two people, OVA head Vadim Filashkin reported. Another person was killed in Nikolayevka in the Konstantinovsky community and three were wounded as a result of shelling of a gas station in Pokrovsky District.

21:16 Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov stated that during the exchange of prisoners of war, special attention will be paid to the return of soldiers from Azovstal; those who have been in captivity for a long time; the seriously wounded and seriously ill; women; civilians who have been in captivity for a long time.

In turn, the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, stated that the Security Service employees are actively working to replenish the exchange fund by capturing Russian servicemen on the battlefield. In particular, during the battles in the Kursk region, the special forces of the SBU's TsSO "A" captured 102 Russian servicemen, including officers and representatives of the Akhmat unit. "We are already thinking about how to make the most of this in order to return our defenders home," the head of the SBU noted.

19:54 German Major General Christian Freiding, who heads the situation center for Ukraine at the German Defense Ministry, said after a visit to Ukraine that he "fully understands" Kiev's decision to launch an offensive in the Kursk region: "Wherever a military leader has the opportunity to take the initiative, he should use it. From my impressions and conversations, the Ukrainians understand very well what risks they are taking, but if this operation is successful, there could be significant momentum."

He estimates that Ukraine has deployed four brigades (4,000 to 6,000 men) for the offensive, with 2,000 to 4,000 troops supporting them from Ukrainian territory through logistics and air defense. "The depth of the captured territory is about 30 km, the width is about 65 km. We estimate the total territory where Ukrainian forces are operating - not controlling, but operating - at about 1,000 square kilometers. This is interesting because this is roughly the same territory that Ukrainian troops have lost to Russian forces since the beginning of the year," Freiding noted.

19:13 As a result of a Russian strike on the territory of a civilian enterprise in the village of Prikolotnoye in the Kupyansky district of the Kharkiv region, two people were killed and five were injured, the prosecutor's office reported. A fire broke out in a warehouse building with a total area of 800 square meters. The lyceum building was also damaged.

19:02 Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov ordered the creation of a coordinating council "to increase the effectiveness of troops to cover the state border in the Belgorod, Bryansk and Kursk regions." The council will, in particular, regulate the buildup of troops in the event of a border breach, and its key task is to provide the troops with weapons.

18:45 The Biden administration is "open" to sending long-range JASSM air-to-surface missiles to Ukraine, Politico reports. According to the newspaper, there are currently discussions regarding "sensitive technologies" associated with the missile, which has a 450 kg warhead and can strike at 370 km.

18:21 A Tu-22M3 bomber crashed during a scheduled flight in the Irkutsk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported. The crew ejected, and the plane crashed in an uninhabited area. According to preliminary data, the cause of the accident was a "technical malfunction."

18:07 The United States will provide Ukraine with new aid packages in the coming days, White House National Security Advisor John Kirby said. He noted that the shortage of weapons and ammunition deprives the Ukrainian Armed Forces of the ability to conduct large-scale offensives for at least six months. In addition, according to Kirby, some types of ammunition requested by Ukraine are no longer produced in the United States, and the existing volumes are insufficient for the Ukrainian Armed Forces' medium-term goals.

17:43 The head of the Pokrovsk city administration in Donetsk Oblast, Sergei Dobryak, said that the Russian army had come "almost right up" to the city and called on residents to evacuate. "A little more than 10 km from the outskirts of the city," Dobryak said in a video address.

17:28 The situation in Donetsk has worsened amid the offensive in Kursk Oblast, Ivan Sekach, a spokesman for the 110th Mechanized Brigade, told Politico. According to him, the military now has "even less ammunition than before, and even more Russian pressure." As The Guardian notes, the Ukrainians are counting on the pressure in Kursk Oblast to lead to the withdrawal of some Russian troops from eastern Ukraine, but so far this has not happened.

17:07 Kyiv City State Administration recommends that schools organize the academic year in the capital "as much as possible in person." The administration noted that over the past two years, the capacity of shelters in general education institutions in the capital has increased by 67 thousand places.

16:42 Russians struck a civilian enterprise in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkiv region with KABs - according to preliminary data, two people were killed and one was wounded, said the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

16:30 Journalists from the Italian TV channel TG1 visited Russian Sudzha, which is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and published a story from there. "We drove into Sudzha in the Kursk region during the Ukrainian army's offensive. Civilian houses are intact. The noise of drones can be heard," wrote journalist Stefania Batistini. The journalists showed damaged Ukrainian equipment near the border and talked to Russians in Sudzha. The girl said that Ukrainian soldiers treat them with respect.

16:26 Lukashenko called for peace talks to end the war in Ukraine: "Let's sit down at the negotiating table and end this brawl. Neither Ukrainians, nor Russians, nor Belarusians need it." In his opinion, the West "needs" the war: "I cannot cite these facts, they are absolutely closed, where do they speak openly - high-ranking people. Literally: let them beat each other - Ukrainians, Russians - let them all die in this cauldron."

Lukashenko also threatened a nuclear strike in the event of a violation of the Belarusian border: "We do not intend to use nuclear weapons until the enemy crosses the border of the Union State. Belarus will not have any red lines in the event of a border violation, the response will be immediate." According to him, more than 20 Belarusian brigades and battalion groups have already been identified, which will be deployed on the border with Ukraine to prevent a breakthrough.

16:23 Germany is planning to transfer a large package of military aid to Ukraine by December, which will include, in particular, two IRIS-M air defense missile systems batteries, two IRIS-T SLS air defense missile systems batteries, ten Gepard installations, about 30 Leopard 1A5 tanks, etc., the Bundeswehr reported.

16:18 Russians hit the village of Zolochiv in the Bogodukhov district of the Kharkiv region with two guided air bombs - six people were injured, including a 12-year-old child, the National Police reported. Administrative buildings, a kindergarten, shops, and more than 20 private houses were damaged.

16:11 Ukraine will probably evacuate Russian civilians from the Kursk region to Sumy, said Minister for Reintegration Irina Vereshchuk. According to her, the government, together with the military, is already working on a possible route for a humanitarian corridor for civilians. "As for a humanitarian corridor towards the Russian Federation: such a possibility exists, but subject to a corresponding official request from the Russian side. So far, such a request has not been received," she added.

15:50 The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance in the Kursk region and already control 82 settlements, Zelensky reported following the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters. According to Syrsky, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 35 km and control more than 1,150 sq. km of Russian territory. Syrsky also reported on the completion of the liberation of the city of Sudzha from Russian troops, and a Ukrainian military commandant's office is currently being created there. General Eduard Moskalov has been appointed head of the commandant's office. There is also a new replenishment of the exchange fund.

Also at the meeting of the Headquarters, the main directions of defense were discussed: "Toretsk, Pokrovsky and others. There are the most Russian assaults there now - and our maximum defensive attention. Priority deliveries are precisely there. Everything that is needed now."

In addition, a strategy for the return of Ukrainians from Russian captivity was presented, Zelensky said: "There are many delicate details. What concerns the formation of lists. What concerns work with partners. I instructed the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine to present to society the details that our people need to know about how we return prisoners. I also instructed to involve in this work public organizations of relatives of Ukrainian military and civilians who are currently in captivity."

15:32 Zelensky instructed the Verkhovna Rada to immediately resolve a number of issues:

  • Guarantee at the legislative level that Ukrainian military personnel who take part in the Kursk operation "and will take part in all our other actions on the territory of the aggressor state" must receive all payments and preferences provided for the front lines.

  • Legionnaires who defend Ukraine but do not yet have Ukrainian citizenship must obtain it. This also applies to their relatives.

  • To settle the issue of captured weapons that the Ukrainian Armed Forces obtain in battles.

  • Traitors who fled to Russia after February 24, collaborators and all criminals who went into the service of the Russian state must be stripped of any titles and awards in Ukraine.

"Of course, in addition to these decisions I have mentioned, there are some other, no less important legislative initiatives that strengthen our independence, in particular spiritual independence, as well as government work to implement them. All of this should be done really quickly," the president emphasized.

14:09 The Ministry of Strategic Industry, together with the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff, launched the Zalizny Polygon project - a free service provided by the state to manufacturers of weapons and military equipment for fast and affordable testing of samples at the design stage. The project provides access for Ukrainian manufacturers to the process of fast professional testing and trials, as well as product evaluation by a military research institute.

13:24 Sky News reports, citing sources, that Ukraine has deployed British Challenger 2 tanks in its offensive in the Kursk region. Meanwhile, The Times reports, citing its sources, that Britain is calling on its allies to allow Ukraine to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory. London's official position has not changed - such strikes are prohibited. However, the publication writes that British ministers are holding closed talks with Western governments to grant Kiev the permission it has long been asking for.

13:01 Ukraine and Russia have begun negotiations on the exchange of prisoners captured in the Kursk region, the Financial Times reports. Ukrainian intelligence has confirmed that Kiev is already working on the exchange. Ukraine has not officially disclosed the exact number of captured Russians, but the FT writes that hundreds of soldiers are involved. The Independent, citing a source, reported that about 2,000 Russian soldiers were captured.

12:40 Russia attacked Ukrzaliznytsia's power grid in northern Ukraine this week. The attack damaged substations and temporarily cut off power to certain sections of the tracks, UZ reported. Ukrzaliznytsia is currently working on restoring the company's power grid on its own.

12:32 Russian troops have come 13 km to Pokrovsk, writes Bild military analyst Julian Repke. The journalist notes that this is now an important logistics point for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, from where the lifeline to Chasov Yar opens up, and other forward units are supplied. At the beginning of the year, Russian troops were 38 km from Pokrovsk. Now they have come 13 km to the city, having captured two more settlements - Zhelanne and Orlovka Vtoraya. The Russians are also already 6 km from Selidovo, the loss of which will pose a threat to the defense of Kurakhovo. In addition, there is a threat of semi-encirclement of the Ukrainian group in Ugledar.

12:04 Western media exaggerate the scale of the movement of Russian reserves to the Kursk region, said Dmitry Likhovy, spokesman for the Tavria group of forces. According to him, the media representatives "heard that there is a movement, but they mistakenly believe that there is a continuous flow, a major redeployment." "In fact, this is not the case. No significant changes in the size of the group have been identified. The quantitative composition as a whole does not change enough to talk about any changes or weakening in the nature of military operations," he noted.

Likhovy also reported that the enemy has become significantly more active on the left bank of the Kherson region: ten assaults were repelled here in one day.

11:20 The situation in the Belgorod region has been declared a federal emergency, the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported.

11:07 A company of Russian soldiers was captured in the Kursk region by soldiers of the SBU Special Operations Center "A", Ukrainian media write, citing sources in the special service. This is the largest capture of the enemy that was carried out at one time during the war: 102 Russian prisoners of war were captured.

The special forces captured and cleared out a branched concrete and well-fortified company stronghold on all sides - with underground communications and quarters for personnel, a canteen, an armory and even a bathhouse. The enemy was not going to surrender, there was enough food and ammunition, "but the successful actions of the SBU special forces adjusted the enemy's plans," the sources reported. Among the prisoners were soldiers of the 488th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces and the Akhmat unit.

10:50 The Wall Street Journal writes that Zelensky allegedly approved the plan to blow up the Nord Streams, but after the CIA's request, he ordered it to be stopped. He passed the order on to Zaluzhny, but he allegedly ignored the order, the publication claims. Zaluzhny himself denied this information.

According to the publication, the operation, which cost $300,000, involved civilians and military personnel, including former intelligence officer Roman Chervinsky, who commanded it. The explosion required six people, a yacht, and explosives.

10:08 A company of Russian soldiers surrendered in the Kursk region on Wednesday, August 14. As reported by the Ukrainian state project I Want to Live , more than a hundred Russians abandoned by their commanders surrendered. "They can be understood: it is difficult to conduct military operations when you are commanded by tyrants and embezzlers, and the flanks are "covered" by Kadyrov's bandits, who abandon everyone and everything, just to avoid being captured themselves. Well, and thanks to General Lapin, who is helping us successfully advance in the Kursk region, just as in 2022 in the Kharkiv region, for the defense of which he was responsible," the project said in a statement.

09:16 In the Kherson region, over the past day, as a result of Russian shelling, one person was killed, 13 were injured, including one child, reported the head of the OVA Oleksandr Prokudin. Critical infrastructure facilities, administrative buildings, 16 private houses, and a gas pipeline were damaged. The Kherson GVA added that as a result of damage to the gas pipeline in the Kherson region, part of the Naddnipryansky starostinsky district was left without gas supply.

08:49 In Donetsk region on August 14, as a result of Russian shelling, two people were killed - in Zarya and Maksimilianovka, reported the head of the OVA Vadim Filashkin.

08:27 Air defense destroyed all 29 Shahed-type attack UAVs at night - in Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kherson, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kyiv regions, the Air Force reported. In addition, the enemy attacked with three Kh-59 guided air missiles at night.

07:32 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of August 15:

  • personnel - about 595,620 (+1220) people,

  • tanks - 8484 (+8),

  • combat armored vehicles - 16,426 (+24),

  • artillery systems - 16,868 (+47),

  • MLRS - 1154 (+3),

  • air defense systems - 922 (+1),

  • aircraft - 367 (+1),

  • helicopters - 328 (+0),

  • Operational-tactical level UAVs - 13,598 (+50),

  • cruise missiles - 2428 (+2),

  • ships/boats - 28 (+0),

  • submarines - 1 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tank trucks - 22,775 (+65) units,

  • special equipment - 2813 (+0).

04:51 Malian Tuareg rebels say they have received no support from abroad during the defeat of the Wagner mercenaries. Asked whether Ukraine had provided financial or training support to the rebel movement, rebel alliance spokesman Elmaouloud Ramadan said: "No, we have not received any assistance from Ukraine."

00:23 The Belarusian Railway Workers' Community reports, citing sources, that due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk Region, trains from Belarus to the stations of the Oryol-Kursk branch of the Moscow Railway have stopped running. The telegram notifying about the impossibility of receiving trains has the mark "until cancellation".

In addition, a large number of "abandoned" trains have been accumulated at stations in the Smolensk region, which is caused by the large-scale transfer of Russian troops to the Kursk region and the redeployment of a significant portion of the fleet of freight locomotives for military transportation from the central part of the Russian Federation. At the same time, some sources report that the concentration of armed forces is being carried out "from virtually all regions, even from fairly remote or complicated regions with logistical difficulties."

Bangladesh
We need good ideas right now, not Jamaat
[Dhaka Tribune] The Awami League government made a lot of mistakes. De-listing Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
is not one.

In fact, the AL government didn’t even make the decision to de-list Jamaat as a political party.

A group of Bangladeshi citizens filed the petition against Jamaat in 2013. Their petition was heard by a high court, which decided in favour of the petitioners against Jamaat. Jamaat’s legal team appealed to the supreme court, which upheld the high court’s decision to de-list Jamaat.

We all know what Jamaat did when they didn’t get their way. Look it up if you can’t remember.

Now that the armed forces decided to brief Jamaat on the transition-in-power, and reports of reprisals and communal violence emerged within hours of the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
’s departure, it makes sense to review the original case against Jamaat and consider whether it remains relevant today.

Supreme court advocate Tania Amir represented the petitioners in 2013. Her father is M Amir-ul Islam, who drafted the declaration of independence, and helped draft the constitution. Although her family supported the AL, the government did not request her to take up the case. She took it up independently.

Full disclosure: I’ve met Amir. We’ve talked about it. She is not an AL apologist. She is a patriot though, and I can’t imagine her ever apologizing for that. Take my word for what it’s worth.

Amir summarized the case against Jamaat in three points.

One, Jamaat’s party registration was unconstitutional. The constitution obliges citizens to refrain from communal politics and uphold the country’s independence and illusory sovereignty.

Two, Jamaat violated the Representation of the People Order, 2008. That order, enacted by the then interim government, said all political parties needed women among their leadership.

Three, Jamaat’s aims ran counter to the Charter of Medina, signed by the Prophet Muhammad. Many interpret the charter as providing a framework for secular and democratic governance.

Now that the transition in power appears to have given Jamaat a new lease on life, we have a responsibility to reconsider the merits of the original case against Jamaat as a party.

Personally, I think Amir’s arguments are compelling. Whether you believe in the constitution, the non-partisanship of an interim government, or the Charter of Medina, there is something for you.

But ask yourself. Should parties refrain from communal politics? Should women be excluded from leadership roles? Should non-secular and non-democratic parties participate in a secular democracy?

Your answers to these questions needn’t account for the AL government’s past. Reinstating Jamaat as a political party cannot make up for the AL government’s past deeds. We can’t answer for the AL.

But we can think about the kind of future we want — even foreigners like me (Bangladesh is home to me too!) -- and consider how Jamaat fits into that picture.

I’ll go first. I’m told we live in a free country.

Jamaat had a decade to put itself on the right side of the law. Jamaat had a judgement they could have used as a self-help guide: Disavow communal politics; place women in leadership positions; commit to a secular, democratic system of government. They chose not to.

Perhaps they were unable. One aspect of Jamaat that remains poorly understood is its overseas network. We don’t know where all their money comes from. We don’t really know how their associations work. A real can of worms.

Still, it feels ironic that -- after a student movement rejected a political environment in which the leading parties accused each other of serving foreign interests -- a group that actually has foreign branches should re-emerge as a credible actor. I’d have hoped we’d be done with all that.

It’s strange that Jamaat -- who seem to have more lobbyists in Washington DC, London, and Brussels than Dhaka -- should be briefed by the armed forces instead of student leaders who precipitated the transition in power. Maybe they know something we don’t.

And you know, it’s sad that Jamaat -- who hasn’t renounced the 1971 war crimes and genocide, let alone the past decade of violence against students, free thinkers, and minorities -- should influence the interim government that comes, and the democratic government we hope will emerge.

Ultimately, Jamaat just scares people. People who lived through Bangladesh’s first 50 years.

In my mind, Jamaat has shown why Germany banned the Nazis after World War II. Why the US did not allow confederates to hold office after the American Civil War. If you want to be fascist
...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
in Germany, or a racist secessionist in the US, you don’t get to hold public office in the name of those who lost the war.

It’s a fair ask in the best of times. And these are not those times.

US colleges revise rules to stop resurgence of anti-Israel protests this school year
[IsraelTimes] New measures include restrictions on encampments and overnight demonstrations; head of professors groups claims moves constitute ‘repression we haven’t seen since the late 1960s’.

As students return to colleges across the United States, administrators are bracing for a resurgence in activism against Israel over the war in the Gazoo

Strip, and some schools are adopting rules to limit the kind of protests that swept campuses last spring.

While the summer break provided a respite in student demonstrations against the Israel-Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
war, it also gave both student protesters and higher education officials a chance to regroup and strategize for the fall semester.

Some of the new rules imposed by universities include banning encampments, limiting the duration of demonstrations, allowing protests only in designated spaces and restricting campus access to those with university identification. Critics say some of the measures will curtail free speech.

The American Association of University Professors issued a statement Wednesday condemning "overly restrictive policies" that could discourage free expression. Many of the new policies require protesters to register well in advance and strictly limit the locations where gatherings can be held, as well as setting new limits on the use of amplified sound and signage.

The University of Pennsylvania has outlined new "temporary guidelines" for student protests that include bans on encampments, overnight demonstrations, and the use of bullhorns and speakers until after 5 p.m. on class days. Penn also requires that posters and banners be removed within two weeks of going up. The university says it remains committed to freedom of speech and lawful assembly.

At Indiana University, protests after 11 p.m. are forbidden under a new "expressive activities policy" that took effect August 1. The policy says "camping" and erecting any type of shelter are prohibited on campus, and signs cannot be displayed on university property without prior approval.

The University of South Florida now requires approval for tents, canopies, banners, signs and amplifiers. The school’s "speech, expression and assembly" rules stipulate that no "activity," including protests or demonstrations, is allowed after 5 p.m. on weekdays or during weekends and not allowed at all during the last two weeks of a semester.

A draft document obtained over the summer by the student newspaper at Harvard University showed the college was considering prohibitions on overnight camping, chalk messages and unapproved signs.

About 50 Columbia students still face discipline over last spring’s demonstrations after a mediation process that began earlier in the summer stalled, according to Mahmoud Khalil, a lead negotiator working on behalf of Columbia student protesters. He blamed the impasse on Columbia administrators.

"The university loves to appear that they’re in dialogue with the students. But these are all fake steps meant to assure the donor community and their political class," said Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.
A worthless degree
The university did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday.

The Ivy League school in upper Manhattan was roiled earlier this year by student demonstrations, culminating in scenes of coppers with zip ties and riot shields storming a building occupied by pro-Paleostinian protesters.

Similar protests swept college campuses nationwide, with many leading to violent mostly peaceful festivities with police and more than 3,000 arrests. Many of the students who were arrested during police crackdowns have had their charges dismissed, but some are still waiting to learn what prosecutors decide. Many have faced fallout in their academic careers, including suspensions, withheld diplomas and other forms of discipline.

Besides, who wants to spend $100k to $200+k on their kids' college education. Only to be their degree associated with an educational system that supports Genocidal Terrorists.

Federal authorities file additional charges against Chinese-linked biolab in Central California
[FoxNews] Jia Bei Zhu, a citizen of China, faces additional charges of conspiracy, wire fraud in illegal biolab.

Federal authorities announced new charges against the operators of an illegal underground biolab found in a Central California community last fall.

Jia Bei Zhu, 62, a citizen of China, was previously indicted for distributing bogus and misbranded COVID-19 test kits in violation of the federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. He was also charged with making false statements to authorities about his identity and involvement with the biolabs.

Additional charges have now been filed against Zhaoyan Wang, 38, also a citizen of China, who officials described as a "romantic and business partner."

According to court documents, from August 2020 through March 2023, Zhu and Wang conspired to defraud buyers of UMI and PBI’s COVID-19 test kits. They imported hundreds of thousands of COVID-19 test kits from Ai De Ltd., which was a company in China that they controlled, and falsely represented to the buyers that the test kits were made in the United States.

Authorities said they illegally imported the COVID-19 test kits, which they were not approved to import, by falsely declaring them as pregnancy test kits, which they were approved to import.

Joe Prado, assistant director for the Fresno County of Public Health, previously told FOX 26 that the lab was using mice "to see whether or not the COVID test kits were actually testing for COVID."

Officials said Zhu and Wang also falsely represented to the buyers that UMI and PBI could make up to 100,000 COVID-19 test kits per week in the United States and that the test kits were made in connection with other labs that were certified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Lastly, officials said they falsely represented to the buyers that the test kits were approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Zhu and Wang made over $1.7 million through their fraud.

When buyers requested to inspect the facilities in Fresno and Reedley, Zhu and Wang allegedly denied them access and made up reasons for the denial, including that the facilities were undergoing construction and renovation.

Upon inspection, health inspectors found nearly 1,000 lab mice, 200 of which were dead, inside the lab, according to FOX 26. Inspectors also found thousands of vials, some of which contained human blood and other substances.

Gaza health officials reported separately on Thursday that the corpse count there had surpassed 40,000 people after more than 10 months of fighting.

This round of negotiations opened on Thursday, and the talks would resume on Friday for a second day, Qatari and US officials said.

A US official briefed on the discussions in Doha, who declined to be identified told Rooters, said that Thursday's talks were "constructive."

"This is vital work. The remaining obstacles can be overcome, and we must bring this process to a close," US national security spokesperson John Kirby told news hounds at the White House.

Hamas says Gaza ceasefire must involve 'complete' Israeli withdrawal
[GEO.TV] Hamas on Thursday said any Gaza ceasefire deal must involve the total withdrawal of Israeli forces from the embattled territory.

"Any agreement must achieve a comprehensive ceasefire, a complete (Israeli) withdrawal from Gaza, (and) the return of the displaced," Hamas official Hossam Badran said in a statement after truce talks resumed in Doha on Thursday.

[GEO.TV] Pressure built for a Gaza ceasefire to be agreed at talks that reportedly began on Thursday in Qatar, aiming to stop the spread of a war that the Gaza's health ministry said has killed 40,000.

In a veiled warning to Iran, Hamas and Israel, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said "no party in the region should take actions that would undermine efforts to reach a deal", the US State Department said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Florida teen Brendan Depa wrote apology letter to teacher's aide Joan Naydich he severely beat up over Nintendo Switch
[NYPOST] The hulking Florida high schooler who severely beat a teacher's aide over a Nintendo Switch wrote an apology letter to his victim that was never read in court, claiming he made a ''mistake, one I will never let happen again.''
Somehow the remorse always comes after the action. Self-control means the remorse comes instead of the action.
Brendan Depa, 18, was sentenced to five years in prison for felony aggravated battery - bodily harm after he attacked paraprofessional Joan Naydich in a hallway inside Matanzas High School in Palm Coast in February 2023.

''Many people have claimed that I feel no remorse for the incident of last year, and that I don't take responsibility for my actions,'' Depa wrote in the letter titled ''Apology'' obtained by NewsNation. ''This is not true: I am extremely sorry for injuring Miss Joan so severely and I am happy to see the injuries I inflicted did not leave any permanent scars or bruises.''
Other permanent injuries, sure. And bruises by their nature are not permanent.
Depa's tutor, Gene Lopes, encouraged the teen to work through his remorse and realize the effects of his actions, which led to the apology letter.

‘'He wrote this himself,'' Lopes told the outlet. ''Brendan is a gifted writer, as you can see from this. So this was all him.''
Standard bread&butter note style, minimum mental age fifth grade. This is what a gifted writer who is autistic can produce.
The tutor insisted he made no edits or changed any words in what Depa wrote, noting there were some factual errors regarding Naydich's injuries as the teen has yet to see the video of his attack and didn't know how much he injured her, the outlet added.
So his letter is a lie, through no fault of his own.
Hallway security cameras captured Depa, who stands 6 feet 6 and weighs roughly 270 pounds, sprinting toward the female educator, who turns and spots her assailant a split-second before he shoves her to the floor.

Depa, then 17 years old, repeatedly stomps on the unconscious paraprofessional before punching her 15 times.

Several staff members were needed to remove Depa from Naydich and hold him to the floor.

''I recognize what I did was wrong and take responsibility for my actions. I deeply regret allowing my emotions to get the best of me and letting things happen the way that they did,'' the teen added.
He could have gotten a 30 year sentence; he was only given five years — let us all hope this nails home the lessons he reports receiving in self-control.

Only 5 years?

He is 6'6" 270+LBS
They claimed he was a "special Needs" student.
He had 3 prior arrests for assault.

He blindsided her.
Knocked her to the ground & stomped on her, broke her ribs, gave her a concussion and a lot of bruises.

All over what? Because he had a $30 Nintendo Switch that was being held in the office until after school?

The attack was so violent that finding and unedited version is nearly impossible.

But even the edited VIDEO is clear this is a vicious animal.

Why are schools still mixing special needs students with a clear and documented history of assault with other students?

Ukrainian perspective: Operation in Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 19:52 German Major General Christian Freiding, who heads the situation center for Ukraine at the German Defense Ministry, said after a visit to Ukraine that he "fully understands" Kiev's decision to launch an offensive in the Kursk region: "Wherever a military leader has the opportunity to take the initiative, he should use it.

15:46 The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance in the Kursk region and already control 82 settlements, Zelensky reported following the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters.

Law enforcement officials argue about niqab as a means of camouflage
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The niqab can be a good disguise for criminals, given that there are no systems to find out who is underneath it, said retired Interior Ministry Colonel Amir Kolov. The niqab was previously used as a means of disguise, including during the Chechen campaigns, but modern systems make it possible to establish who is hiding underneath it, countered Sergei Goncharov, president of the Association of Veterans of the Alpha Anti-Terror Unit.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on August 9, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan disseminated information that a native of Chechnya, Ali Demilkhanov (also referred to by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan as Ali Demelkhanov) had wounded two police officers. The department noted that the man was moving around in a niqab.

Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan denied the information about the attack, stating that it was about an incident in 2017, and called the information about the movement of the wanted man in a niqab relevant.

The message from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan about the search for a terrorist who hides his identity using a niqab is a continuation of the trend set by the federal center to combat religious clothing, Dagestani journalists interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" noted on August 11. The information that Demilkhanov, who attacked the security forces, wears a niqab for secrecy looks dubious against the backdrop of the ongoing campaign against religious clothing, social network users noted.

A temporary ban on wearing niqabs has been introduced in Dagestan; it will remain in effect until a new theological opinion, the republic's Muftiate announced on July 3. Statements by representatives of the Islamic clergy on the issue of the fatwa on the niqab have sparked a debate about the presence of "radical" mosques in Dagestan and, on the contrary, those loyal to the Muftiate. Disputes have also arisen about whether the ban is mandatory or advisory in nature. The "Caucasian Knot" reference " Fatwa on the ban on the niqab - a law or a recommendation " contains expert opinions on whether the ban of the Muftiate of Dagestan will be implemented.

Former security officials interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" assessed the possibility of terrorists using the niqab for camouflage.

Retired Interior Ministry Colonel Amir Kolov  noted that, apart from the report of Ali Demilkhanov, who is wanted, moving around in a niqab, he has never heard of terrorists using the niqab for camouflage. He also believed that such cases could be repeated in the future, since the niqab can be a good disguise for criminals. "As far as I know, there are no systems to identify who is hiding under the niqab," he told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The opposite point of view was expressed by Sergei Goncharov, President of the Association of Veterans of the Anti-Terror Unit "Alpha". According to him, he has repeatedly heard of cases of the niqab being used for camouflage - both during the war in Afghanistan and during the Chechen wars. "The niqab makes identification very difficult.

However, modern technologies still allow us to identify who is wearing it," S. Goncharov emphasized. Let us recall that on June 23, on the Day of the Holy Trinity, which is one of the main Christian holidays, militants attacked synagogues and an Orthodox church in Derbent and Makhachkala. As a result, at least 22 people were killed and 46 were injured.

Following the militant attacks in Dagestan, the issue of banning religious clothing was raised in the republics of the North Caucasus. Who spoke out against hijabs and niqabs, how attempts were made in the country to introduce a ban on wearing religious clothing in schools and universities - read in the "Caucasian Knot" reference "The Main Thing About the New Attempt to Ban Hijabs in Russia".

Harris says will debate Trump twice
[GEO.TV] Kamala Harris
former senatrix from California, 2020 Dem presidential hopeful and ultimately Joe Biden's intended successor
's campaign said Thursday that she would debate her Republican rival Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
twice, while their running mates would do so once, seeking to draw a line under weeks of election brinkmanship.

The two camps had already agreed to one presidential debate on September 10 and a vice-presidential face-off on October 1, but the Trump campaign had been pushing for two further presidential debates in September and an extra VP encounter.

"The debate about debates is over. Donald Trump's campaign accepted our proposal for three debates - two presidential and a vice presidential debate," the Harris campaign said in a statement.

It added that, "assuming Donald Trump actually shows up on September 10," Harris running mate Tim Walz
...Kamala's running mate, governor of Minnesota. One man's socialism is another man's neighborliness....
would debate Trump's VP pick JD Vance on October 1, and then there would be another Trump-Harris face-off later in October.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to an AFP request for its reaction to the statement.

Harris's late entry into the race -- replacing President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family...
after his withdrawal amid concerns over his age and unpopularity -- has effectively turned it into the kind of sprint to election day more common in Europe.

India-Pakistan
After Gen Faiz Hamid, three more retired servicemen taken into military custody
[GEO.TV] In connection with the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) proceedings of Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hamid, three more retired officers have been taken into military custody, the army’s media wing said on Thursday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) added that the retired officers were arrested for their actions prejudicial to military discipline.

"Further investigations of certain retired officers and their accomplices for fomenting instability at the behest of and in collusion with vested political interests are continuing," it also said.

Moreover, sources told Geo News that two of the officers in the military custody were of brigadier rank and one was of colonel rank.

The two retired brigadiers have been identified as Ghaffar and Naeem while the retired colonel’s name is Asim, they said, adding that they worked as messengers between a political party and the ex-spymaster.

The two brigadiers, alleged of facilitation, hailed from Chakwal, the sources further said.

MORE ARRESTS TO FOLLOW
Addressing a presser in Islamabad today, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar hinted at more arrests after three more servicemen were taken into custody

"No one can be allowed to put the country's security at stake," he said.

The minister went on to say that Lt Gen (retd) Faiz's actions were guided by PTI founder's "wish" and the former prime minister was "leading them all".

"All of it was being done at the behest of PTI founder. All of them are those people who damaged the country conniving with the anarchic group," he said, adding that accountability was needed for whatever this group had done.

WaPo Opinion Piece Decrys Harris's Price Control Speech
[WaPo] How...Soviet.
... most likely template for Harris's proposal is a recent bill from Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). (Harris co-sponsored similar legislation with Warren in 2020, when Harris was a senator.) Warren's bill would ban any "grossly excessive price" during any "atypical disruption" of a market. Alas, no definition was provided for these terms, either; rather, the bill would empower the Federal Trade Commission to enforce bans using any metric it deems appropriate.

It's hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is. It is, in all but name, a sweeping set of government-enforced price controls across every industry, not only food. Supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington bureaucrats would. The FTC would be able to tell, say, a Kroger in Ohio the acceptable price it can charge for milk.
--------------
bonus: Harris and Biden appeared together yesterday at an 'official govt' event that was really a campaign event in PG county MD (about a +40% Blue county).

#1  “Democracy often works beautifully at first. But once a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader—the barbarians enter Rome.”

Russian Armed Forces Stop New Attempts by Ukrainian Armed Forces to Break Deep into Russian Territory
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian Armed Forces have stopped new attempts by the Ukrainian army to break through deep into Russian territory in the areas of the settlements of Varvarovka, Safonovka, Sheptukhovka, Kauchuk, Alekseyevskoye and Matveyevka.

"Army aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles and artillery fire have prevented attempts by enemy mobile groups to break through deep into Russian territory in the areas of Varvarovka, Safonovka, Sheptukhovka, Kauchuk, Alekseevsky and Matveyevka," the statement said.

Also, according to the Russian military department, Russian Armed Forces fighters have regained control over the settlement of Krupets in the Kursk region. Over the past 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost up to 340 servicemen and 19 armored vehicles in this region.

In addition, a strike from the Iskander-M complex destroyed a Ukrainian convoy and 15 fuel tankers in the area of the settlement of Lubny in the Sumy region of Ukraine.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been attacking the Kursk region since August 6. Russian army units stopped Ukrainian troops in the border areas, not allowing them to go deep into the region. According to the commander of "Akhmat", Major General Apti Alaudinov, the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region are melting away every day.

The Investigative Committee reported that Ukrainian fighters are actively using NATO weapons in the Kursk region. FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov said that Kiev's attack on the Kursk region is supported by the West.

On August 15, Ukrainian prisoner of war Mikhail Shkoda reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were supposed to travel as many kilometers as possible in the Kursk region without getting involved in combat. According to him, the convoy that went on a raid into Russian territory included 20 vehicles from his brigade. The prisoner of war added that there were two Strykers and two Hummers ahead of them.

During a meeting on August 12, President Vladimir Putin demanded that the border with Ukraine be reliably covered after the enemy is driven out of Russian territory. There can be no negotiations with those who attack civilians and nuclear power facilities, the head of state said.

Alaudinov reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are withdrawing reserves for battles in the Kursk region

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continue to withdraw reserves from other sections of the front in order to send them to participate in the battles in the Kursk region. This was reported on August 15 by the deputy head of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the RF Armed Forces, commander of the special forces "Akhmat" Major General Apti Alaudinov.

"They have sent about 12,000 people here, and the forces that they are now removing from the front line, from all directions, and are additionally shoving them here... They are removing everything they can. We are waiting, understanding and monitoring," Alaudinov said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel.

At the same time, the military man noted that in the Sudzhan direction, the Russian Armed Forces have created good defensive structures and are gradually beginning to clear populated areas of Ukrainian troops.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 12, during an operational meeting, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that driving the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of Russian territory is the main task of the Ministry of Defense.

On August 14, the military department reported that during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the enemy lost up to 2,300 servicemen, 37 tanks, 32 armored personnel carriers, 18 infantry fighting vehicles, 192 armored combat vehicles, 88 automobiles, four anti-aircraft missile systems, two multiple launch rocket system launchers, and 15 field artillery guns.

On August 11, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that Russian servicemen will give a tough response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the strikes on Russian regions. She noted that missile attacks and drone strikes by Ukraine on Russian regions are clearly terrorist in nature, adding that these actions are aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure, as well as killing and intimidating civilians.

Kamala Harris is an 'empty suit' and campaign handlers are worried, says Tulsi Gabbard
[FoxNews] While Kamala Harris' campaign works to rebrand the VP as the Democratic presidential candidate, critics are voicing concern over her record on the border, as well as her career as a prosecutor. On "America's Newsroom" on Thursday, former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard labeled Harris an "empty suit," arguing her campaign "handlers" are worried about what will happen if she has to explain her policy positions.

TULSI GABBARD: I think she revealed in that [July 2019] debate the same thing that I think her campaign handlers are worried about right now... Kamala Harris is an empty suit. They are trying to create this new version of Kamala Harris to match what their pollsters are telling them, so she can say whatever she needs to say to try to win over voters, which is the most offensive thing, I think, because they think we're so stupid as to forget what her record actually is. In 2019, very simply, I confronted her with her hypocrisy of how what she said was very different than what she actually did, and she had no answer for it. She had no explanation. She didn't even try to own or justify what her actions were. And that's going to be the key thing here for voters as we head into this election is Kamala Harris will say whatever she thinks she needs to say. We have to pay attention to her actions, because on every single major issue, you will see that same kind of hypocrisy that I pointed out in 2019 where she'll say one thing, but her record tells a very, very different story.

Saakashvili is to blame for the Olympic war
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[ColonelCassad] "The fact is that in August 2008, Saakashvili's adventurous actions were not the result of his mental instability, but the result of instructions from outside and a well-planned betrayal" (c) "Georgian Dream"

After 16 years, Georgia officially said what Russia had been saying since August 2008. Now Russia and Georgia have agreed on the question of who was the main culprit of the war that was unleashed. This recognition opens up interesting possibilities for normalizing relations. The recognition is obviously connected with the pressure that the US is currently exerting on Georgia (threats, sanctions, attempts to overthrow the Kobakhidze regime) and the threat of a coup d'etat, in which the US is counting on using Saakashvili, who is sitting in prison.

Now Georgia has officially recognized that the war was started by Saakashvili, who was pushed to do so by the Americans, namely the "Cheney Gang".

If it were not for his attack on South Ossetia, it would still be an unrecognized state and Russian troops would not be stationed there.

In fact, thanks to Saakashvili, South Ossetia and Abkhazia finally separated from Georgia and from the point of view of Georgian nationalists, this is a betrayal of Georgian interests.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Four pilots of the crashed Tu-22MZ bomber near Irkutsk were found alive. This was reported by the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev.

"At 22:18, the duty officer of the regional department of the disaster medicine center received this information. According to the Ministry of Defense, the plane was a military one, a TU-22M3. It was performing a scheduled flight. Four pilots ejected. All have already been found," he wrote on the Telegram channel.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Ministry of Defense previously reported that the crew managed to eject. The crash occurred during a scheduled flight. According to the preliminary version, the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction of the aircraft, the defense department specified.

Earlier, footage of a bomber crash in the Cheryomkhovsky district of the region appeared. It shows a burning aircraft falling on the horizon, after which a bright flash appears and an explosion is heard.

Thomson mayor arrested, Political Skullduggery is at play.
While in the middle of meeting to terminate 2 local police officers for gross misconduct, the GBI arrived and asked him step outside.
[Fox5Atlanta] Thomson Mayor Benjamin Cary Cranford, 52, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday for allegedly providing inmates with alcohol while they worked in the city.

Investigators say the incident in question happened on June 4.

A warrant for the mayor's arrest was issued on Wednesday. He was promptly taken into custody and booked into the McDuffie County Jail where has been charged with furnishing prohibited items to inmates and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Further details about the arrest and the incident have not yet been made public.

#1
A quick summary:

* Thomson Mayor Benjamin Cary Cranford was elected in a landslide. Unseating what many saw as a politically controlled puppet mayor of 12 years. The former mayor was said to have been installed by the 2 ruling political families (D's) in the county. The former mayor was also the elite's chosen city council member for 20 years.

* Many see Thomson Mayor Benjamin Cary Cranford election as having ticked off the 2 ruling political (D's) families in the town.

* The NEW Mayor, on taking office, quickly uncovered serious financial waste, spending and missing money issues. However, requested audits are still not finished?

* The power brokers even fought Mayor Cranford's efforts and voters demands to rename a street after a famous 101-Year-old WW-II vet that landed in D-Day and fought many a several key battles. One power broker went so far as to say the Vet needed to be dead 1st and then maybe only proclamation issued.

In short, the mayor's arrest is seen by many as purely Political because the New Mayor bucked the Status Quo, uncovered $$$$$ & Contract award issues and disrupted the 2 political families control.

#2  Update.

According to released documents and local media.

The Thomson Police Department Chief of Police requested the GBI to investigate an allegation that the mayor reportedly left a bottle of gin on the roadside for an inmate work detail to later find, on June 4.

The indictment states that the mayor placed a bottle of gin in a ditch where it was claimed the inmates from the Jefferson County Correctional Institution were working and later found. Note: Jefferson is not even his own county?

A Grand Jury arrest warrant was issued for Cranford on Wednesday. Cranford was arrested the next day, during a meeting to discuss the dismissal of Thomson Police officers for misconduct. Thus delaying that personnel action.

Gen Bajwa threatened to impose martial law, reveals Khawaja Asif
[GEO.TV] Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday said former chief of army staff General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had threatened to impose martial law in the country as he sought an extension in his term for the second time in November 2022.

The Pakistain Moslem League-Nawaz (PML-N) big shot said this in response to a statement by Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan who told the media that Bajwa, who is his close friend, did not seek an extension.

A day earlier, the PA speaker, who also belongs to PML-N, recalled his meeting with the former serviceman in the US embassy where Bajwa denied rumours that he wanted an extension.

He indicated that it was possible that some details might have slipped Khawaja Asif's mind.

Speaking on Geo News show 'Capital Talk', Asif said that he has a sound memory. "It is quite possible that I may not be able to recall things of near past. But, I absolutely retain all past memories," he stressed.

"General Bajwa had said in a sitting that he would impose martial law in the country," the defence minister asserted.

Asif said that he and Malik Ahmed are speaking about separate situations, adding that there is no difference between what both of them are saying.

General (retd) Bajwa, he remarked, had been demanding an extension of six months to one year "as part of a temporary arrangement" to defuse a deadlock.

Speaking on Geo News show Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath today, the Punjab assembly speaker reiterated that Gen (retd) Bajwa without mincing his words stated during his official US trip that he would not seek extension in his term.

"I am an old soldier and an old soldier fades away," Malik Ahmed recalled the quote of the former army chief, saying that Gen (retd) on many occasions reiterated the same stance that he was not seeking an extension.

Moreover, he said Bajwa believed that the General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and General Asim Munir should be appointed to the top posts of army chief and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli air strike kills two Palestinians in West Bank
[GEO.TV] An Israeli air strike on a refugee camp in the occupied West Bank killed two Palestinians on Thursday as Jewish worshippers visited a nearby disputed holy site, Palestinian sources and Israeli army said.

"Two men, aged 18 and 20, were killed and seven people were wounded, one of them seriously, in Balata" refugee camp in Nablus, the Palestinian health ministry said in a statement.
The view from Israel, as reported by the Times of Israel:
Two Paleostinian button men were killed in an Israeli dronezap in the West Bank’s Balata refugee camp near Nablus early Thursday morning. The Israel Defense Forces said troops had been carrying out a counterterrorism operation in the area, returning fire and hitting button men who threw explosives at them.

Amid the operation, it said a dronezap was carried out against two armed Paleostinians. The slain men were named by Paleostinian health officials as Ahmad Sheikh Khalil, 20, and Wael Mashah, 18. Mashah had been tossed in the slammer
anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not
by Israel previously, being freed in November amid a hostage deal with Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
, in which Israel released Paleostinian terror convicts and detainees, mostly from the West Bank, in exchange for Israeli civilians kidnapped by the terror group on October 7.

It was the second time this week that a Paleostinian terrorist freed in the November deal was killed by Israel. On Monday, Hamas commander Tariq Daoud, who had been released in the hostage deal, shot up an Israeli man and two Paleostinians in the West Bank city of Qalqilya, before being killed by an IDF brigade commander.

Also overnight, the IDF said troops and Border Police officers secured the entry of Jewish worshipers to Joseph’s Tomb in Nablus. Before the war, busloads of Orthodox Jews visited Joseph’s Tomb under IDF protection on a near-monthly basis. The IDF has recently returned to carrying out the coordinated visits, although less frequently. The IDF bars Israeli citizens from entering Paleostinian cities without authorization and protection, and some criticize the monthly incursions as an unnecessary provocation that places Israeli soldiers at risk. The shrine, regarded by some as the final resting place of the biblical patriarch Joseph, is located inside Area A of the West Bank, which is officially under complete Paleostinian Authority control, though the Israeli military regularly enters despite Paleostinian opposition.

The dronezap near Nablus came hours after another five Paleostinian button men were killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank.

According to the IDF, troops on Wednesday entered the West Bank city of Tubas, the nearby town of Tamun and the Far’a refugee camp to detain wanted Paleostinians and dismantle local terror groups in the area. The towns are located on the edge of the northern Jordan Valley, some 15 kilometers (9 miles) northeast of Nablus.

In Tubas, an bomb planted on a road went kaboom! by a light armored vehicle, wounding four troops. Two were listed in moderate condition and the other two were lightly hurt, the IDF said. Also in Tubas, the army said a senior wanted member of a terror group in the area was killed in an exchange of fire with troops. Other armed Paleostinians were maimed by Israeli forces in the festivities.

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his leg. Son of a Breech! he exclaimed with feeling......
in Tamun, a dronezap was carried out against a group of Paleostinian button men, killing four of them, according to the IDF.

In the past 10 months, the IDF has carried out more than 60 Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in the West Bank, using drones, attack helicopters, and fighter jets.

Since October 7, troops have arrested some 4,850 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 1,960 affiliated with Hamas.

According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 630 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or Death Eaters carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 26 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another five members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Lebanon says two killed in Israeli strikes

The Lebanese health ministry said in a statement that an "Israeli enemy" strike on the southern town of Marjayoun killed one person and wounded nine others, revising downwards a previous death toll of three.

The official National News Agency said an "enemy drone targeted a car" in the town square, a usually busy area home to shops.
