Dozens of Jewish institutions across Canada received a threatening email early Wednesday morning saying bombs had been planted on their premises and would be detonated later that day, community groups said.
No bombs were reported to have been found as of Wednesday afternoon, although local media said that investigations were still ongoing.
"This was a threat that we took very seriously," a spokesperson from B’nai Brith Canada told local news channel CP24. "We’re very grateful for the swift response from law enforcement to the threat."
Eta Yudin, Quebec vice-president of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), said there was "no imminent threat," and that the threat seemed to be "nuisance emails designed to disrupt lives," according to Yahoo News.
A spokesperson for the Montreal police department told CBC that the department received an emergency call at 7:10 a.m. from a synagogue, and began to sweep threatened locations, as it began receiving additional reports about the same email.
The Toronto Police also conducted bomb searches, and at least one hospital in Ottawa confirmed that police had swept the premises.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement that it was working with local authorities, and that law enforcement was "engaging with faith-based leaders to ensure they have the information and support they need."
Last month, Trudeau appointed Anthony Housefather to serve as an adviser on the Jewish community and combating antisemitism following a series of violent mostly peaceful attacks on synagogues and Jewish schools in recent months.
Two synagogues in Toronto were attacked in July and had their windows smashed, shots were fired at Jewish schools in Montreal and Toronto in May, and there was a suspected arson attack at a Vancouver synagogue.
Housefather said upon his appointment that he would be seeking an all-of-government approach to addressing rising antisemitism, cutting through bureaucracy either through legislation or through moral suasion.
"We say ’this is federal, this is municipal,’ people are being redirected all over the place and, and they’re just frustrated," he said. "We need coordination between different levels of government."

IDF representatives showed the families of Alex Dancyg, Yagev Buchshtav, Chaim Peri, Yoram Metzger, Nadav Popplewell, and Avraham Munder the findings from the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute.
According to the institute’s report, the bodies of the six hostages all have signs of gunfire, likely indicating they were killed by their captors.
Channel 12 reported that the military believes that they were executed by their captors during an IDF operation near where they were being held, with their guards possibly believing a rescue operation was underway.
The findings are initial, and the IDF and health officials have not yet determined the exact causes of deaths.
The institute is also working to identify four more bodies found near the hostages, who are believed by the IDF to be terrorists. The institute’s preliminary investigation had found no signs of gunfire on any of those bodies.
The recovery operation took place overnight between Monday and Tuesday this week, amid a week-old operation in Khan Younis that was expanded last weekend.
The bodies were located in a 10-meter-deep tunnel shaft hidden behind a false wall.
The soldiers did not encounter any resistance inside the tunnel, though forces did kill several button men in the surrounding area, and some terror operatives guarding the tunnel fled as Israeli forces established control.
The troops found weapons on several dead terror operatives within a few hundred meters of the tunnel where the bodies were held, close to some of the shafts that led to the underground passages. Military sources said those button men were likely guarding the area of the tunnel.
In a statement on Thursday, the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said the discovery of bullets in the hostages’ bodies was "further proof of the cruelty of the bandidosDeath Eaters who have been holding 109 hostages for 321 days.
"In every minute that the deal is not completed, another hostage could lose their life. After ten and a half months of war in which the hostages have been suffering, tortured, and dying, it is clear to all that the return of the hostages is only possible through a deal," the forum continued.
"The recovery of the six bodies is no achievement; it is a testimony of the complete failure to reach a deal in time, as six hostages who were supposed to return alive have returned in coffins," it said.

Muhammad Azzam, 34, a specialist at Soroka Medical Center in the southern city, was found to have gory videos of executions on his phone, as well as instructions on preparing explosives and poisons.
He was arrested a month ago and an indictment was filed on August 8, but authorities had until now kept details of the case secret under a gag order.
In a statement on Thursday, Soroka said it was "shocked" by the development.
Azzam, a resident of Beersheba, originally from the northern Arab city of Nazareth, began showing interest in ISIS in 2014 and frequently accessed "extreme content" in the years that followed, the statement said.
According to the indictment against him, Azzam decided to join ISIS after the Hamas ..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,... onslaught of October 7, and pledged allegiance to the group’s new leader, Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi.
Police said that the content found on his cellphone following his arrest included videos of executions, beheadings and images of dismembered bodies. There was also a folder titled "Explosives books" and another called "Preparing poisons" that included information on ricin and poisons prepared from rotten meat, according to the indictment.
Azzam is also said to have sent an acquaintance material showing atrocities committed on October 7 via WhatsApp, with prosecutors saying the tone of the conversation was of "laughter and showing joy."
The indictment noted that on December 11, 2023, when maimed IDF soldiers were brought to Soroka, Azzam contacted a friend via WhatsApp and gave him details about the number of maimed and the extent of their injuries. Regarding one soldier, the acquaintance wrote that he hoped he would die soon to which Azzam responded "Ha ha, amen."
Prosecutors said Azzam’s behavior showed he was a danger to the public, in particular due to his role as a doctor in a hospital, and sought his arrest.
In a statement, the hospital said that its management "takes the allegations very seriously and is shocked. The case is being investigated and handled by trusted law enforcement agencies, and we are confident in their handling of the matter."

The Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. The Shi’ite group has a history of such attacks, and is believed to be responsible for the bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires in 1994, which killed 85 people.
Hamas, on the other hand, has never launched a successful attack abroad since its founding in 1987, though several thwarted terror plots abroad are suspected to have been connected to the group.
In December, members of an alleged Hamas network with cells in Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands were arrested on suspicion of plotting to attack Jewish targets in Europe.
The network had been planning to attack Israel’s embassy in Sweden, buy UAVs and utilize criminal organizations in Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... to support attacks, Israeli security agencies said.

An Oregon man has been charged with making multiple antisemitic threats involving explosives against Jewish health care centers in the New York City and Long Island areas in 2021, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York and the FBI’s New York field office announced Tuesday.
Domagoj Patkovic, 31, was arrested at his home in Portland Tuesday morning.
He and his co-conspirators were "motivated by their hatred of Jewish people, targeted Jewish hospitals and care centers in New York City and on Long Island with hoax bomb threats, needlessly endangering patients and staff by creating chaos and alarm," US Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement.
The threats predated a recent spree of bomb threats against Jewish institutions, mainly synagogues, that began in the summer of 2023. There have been multiple arrests in connection with those threats, as well.
In at least six phone calls in May and September 2021, Patkovic threatened hospitals and local law enforcement responding to a 911 call from one of those hospitals and live streamed the calls on Discord, a social media and messaging platform.
No bombs or bombs were found at any of the locations, but in several instances, local police conducted bomb sweeps. In at least one instance, the fake bomb threat resulted in a partial evacuation and lockdown of an entire Long Island Jewish hospital.
During the phone call to a phone operator at Long Island Jewish Valley Stream, Patkovic, identifying himself as "Abrahimavich," claimed there was C-4, an kaboom, in the maintenance closets and threatened, "I’m gonna blow you to bits you f—ing kike bitch," court records said.
The phone operator then called Nassau County Police, who were able to place a call back to the number that made the threat, where Patkovic again identified himself as "Abrahimavich" and said, "I just called the hospital requesting my f—ing million dollars or I’m going to blow this kike f—ing bitch to the sky."
Isn’t the usual thing, once the call is tracked, to send the police quickly to interview the miscreant, and possibly arrest him? Or were neither the Biden /Harris adminstration’s FBI nor the local Portland police interested in threats to Jewish organizations?
Police were called to the hospital where they conducted a partial evacuation and lockdown and did not find explosives.
If convicted, Patkovic could face up to 155 years in prison. Though he has no recent convictions, Patkovic was found to have engaged in similar behavior of making threats of false bombs and weapons in the past.

"These alleged actions incited unnecessary hysteria and redirected limited resources to mitigate a false alarm," she added. "The FBI will not tolerate those who utilize hoax bomb threat schemes to satisfy their antisemitic beliefs and endanger the wellbeing of our communities."
Jewish institutions have experienced periodic waves of widespread bomb threats.
Hundreds of Jewish community centers received bomb threats in 2017 in a wave that was ultimately largely attributed to a teenager in Israel, who was arrested.
The Israeli lad was autistic, and didn’t understand the harm he was causing by doing such things for pay via the dark web — he was just pleased to have found a way to earn money that didn’t involve leaving his room. Israel sent him to prison for it.
In 2020, dozens of centers received emailed threats. And Sherlocks said they did not believe the people they arrested were responsible for the full sweep of the current wave of threats and swatting attempts, which they attributed to a swatting ring coordinated online.

Patkovic eventually confessed to participating in swatting and bomb threat calls with others in July 2023, according to prosectors — while also identifying himself making the "Sieg Heil" Nazi salute over a man’s unconscious body in a picture from anunrelated incident.
Prosecutors said that Patkovic’s pattern of targeting Jewish centers "reflects the defendant’s religious animus against Jews and his desire to act on that animus," according to court papers.
"As alleged, the defendant and his coconspirators, motivated by their hatred of Jewish people, targeted Jewish hospitals and care centers in New York City and on Long Island with hoax bomb threats, needlessly endangering patients and staff by creating chaos and alarm," Peace said in a statement.
Patkovic is charged with conspiring to make threats concerning explosives, conspiring to transmit threatening communications and other charges.
If convicted, Patkovic faces up to 155 years behind bars.
He is slated to make his first appearance in court in Oregon later Tuesday.

But the justices kept blocking a provision that bars already-registered residents from voting by mail or for president until they prove their citizenship.
The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed Arizona, at least for now, to toughen some voting requirements, saying that people registering to vote before the coming election must show proof of citizenship.
The decision, issued in a terse, unsigned order, handed a partial victory to Republicans who supported a 2022 Arizona law imposing new restrictions on voting. But the court declined to allow Arizona to put into effect another part of that law, which could have prohibited tens of thousands of voters who are already registered from participating in the presidential election or casting any ballots by mail, unless they provided proof of citizenship.
The decision did not include any legal reasoning, which is common in such emergency applications. But there were signs that the court was divided over the issue, and that Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh may have split their votes between two factions.
The order did not mention either. But it said four justices had wanted to keep the state from enforcing both measures: Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Amy Coney Barrett and Ketanji Brown Jackson. The mixed decision means Arizonans newly registering to vote for the coming election will have to provide copies of one of several documents, including a birth certificate or a passport, in order to prove their citizenship.
Disputes over voting requirements in Arizona have raged since the 2020 presidential election, when Donald J. Trump narrowly lost the state. Since then, Republican lawmakers have carried out a partisan audit of the election vote count, and Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized the vote-by-mail system that became more prominent because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Republican National Committee, along with state lawmakers, had asked the Supreme Court to weigh in after lower federal courts had blocked enforcement of the new legal limits.

Northeastern Minnesota is blessed with a plethora of critical and strategic metals that are key components to our modern life. There is an area referred to as the Duluth Complex that, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, is home to the largest undeveloped deposits of nickel, cobalt and platinum group minerals (PGM) in the world.
The Twin Metals mine in particular is positioned to be a state-of-the-art underground operation within the Duluth Complex using advanced and precise methods of extraction that could deliver these much-needed metals to growing markets.
Given that these metals are key components to cell phones and cars—both gas-powered and electric—as well as solar panels and windmills, the location of these minerals here in the United States should be good news. This should especially be true for an administration like Biden-Harris that is hell-bent on restructuring our entire utility and vehicle industries, so they are more “green.”
From a practical perspective, this type of restructuring will require an immense amount of the minerals that are located at, and very accessible in, the Twin Metals mine. Globally, one estimate suggests that to reach electrification goals the world will need to produce the same amount of copper in the next 25 years as humanity has produced in the last 5,000.
Unfortunately, the Biden-Harris administration not only cancelled two long-standing mineral leases at the Twin Metals mine, but they also imposed a 20-year moratorium on the surrounding area. This decision imperiled the 750 direct jobs and 1,500 spinoff jobs in the surrounding community that the mine would have supported.
Many of these jobs were for United Steelworkers who were set to buildout and operate the $1.7 billion mine. As often as the Biden-Harris administration talked about creating green energy jobs, they took numerous actions that cancelled the ones that actually did exist.
Walz oversaw the entire debacle. And when the Twin Metals mine and local jobs organizations asked for a lifeline in the aftermath of the Biden-Harris cancellation, he answered it with … more process! Specifically, Walz’s Department of Natural Resources (DNR) allowed the mine to explore surrounding state and private lands for minerals but reiterated there would be no actual mining, and such a decision would likely be years into the future after “lengthy environmental review and permitting.”
In other, non-bureaucratic words: It’s paralysis by analysis for the project.
These cancelled mining projects and jobs would have been done consistent with U.S. safety and environmental standards. Instead, China will reap the benefits of the Biden-Harris cancellation and Walz’s complacency.
Beyond concern for negative environmental impacts, some reports have found that foreign sourced minerals are mined using child forced labor. From a national security purview, this anti-development approach is equally damaging as U.S. reliance on foreign-sourced minerals continues to grow. Specifically, for the minerals buried in abundance at the Twin Metals mine, the U.S. is over 50% import reliant for nickel, 79% reliant for platinum, 76% reliant for cobalt, and 37% reliant for copper.
Those who have seen Walz work up close, including Republican Rep. Pete Stauber, have sounded the alarm on the consequences of his anti-mining, anti-energy policies. Under his watch Minnesota electricity costs have skyrocketed for residents.
For businesses, it’s even worse. Minnesota now boasts the highest industrial electricity prices in the Midwest.
Walz’s folksy appearance aside, he has embraced California-style climate zealotry to the extreme. He signed his state up for “100 percent carbon free electricity by 2040” which is estimated to cost billions of dollars, double electricity prices by 2034, lead to blackouts and kill jobs.
He also wants to ban gas-powered vehicles in the process.

Georgia's State Election Board has voted 3 to 2 to approve a controversial last-minute rule change that allows local election officials to investigate counts before certifying their county's results, which could lead to a delay of final results.
That decision, made on the first day of absentee voting in the state, has drawn criticism from top state officials on both sides of the political aisle.
"This is dangerous to all Georgians, no matter who you want elected," said Brittany Burns, an activist opposed to the rule changes, during a news conference under the Gold Dome as the board met virtually.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger has expressed concern that these changes could lead to chaos on election night, a sentiment echoed by many Democrats.
Earlier this year, three pro-Trump Republicans, who have cast doubt on the 2020 election results, were appointed to the board. Former President Trump referred to the trio as his "pitbulls fighting for honesty."
"We are already witnessing at least three board members on the Georgia State Election Board behind these rule changes showing partisan favor and putting their own goals before all Georgians," Burns added.

Developers in California have been building houses for decades and decades and decades as fast as they can in the name of "affordable housing" but the cost of living in California continues to rise astronomically. NEWSOM IS LYING. He and his fellow Democrats want to turn comfortable, single-family suburbs and small cities into miserable slums because they know that slum dwellers like the ones in New York will vote Democrat. It doesn't hurt that developers contribute to election campaigns for their pet politicians.

As for homelessness, yeah, that's neglect. Drug addicts and the mentally need to be incarcerated for their own good instead of being allowed to die on the sidewalks and in the riverbeds. They don't need half million dollar condos. They need beds in institutions where they can get the treatment they need. They won't volunteer for it because they like being able to score their drugs and shoot up on the sidewalks. They need to be arrested and incarcerated.

Over the past decade, we have witnessed a significant shift in hostage-takings by terrorist organizations and criminal groups that has challenged the ability of the U.S. Government to secure the safe recovery of U.S. nationals taken captive. The wanton and brutal murder of several Americans held hostage over the past year lays bare the magnitude of this challenge. Other less publicized cases of Americans held hostage overseas, including several who remain in captivity, are no less tragic and have presented the U.S. Government with a similar set of difficult choices. The Government's response to hostage-takings must therefore evolve to account for this new reality. Moreover, the Government's handling of these hostage cases – and in particular its interaction and communication with families whose loved ones have been taken hostage – must improve. To that end, in December 2014 President Obama directed a comprehensive review of U.S. policy toward overseas hostage-takings.
Based on the recommendations resulting from this review, the President approved Presidential Policy Directive (PPD) 30, U.S. Nationals Taken Hostage Abroad and Personnel Recovery Efforts and issued an Executive Order on the recovery of U.S. hostages taken abroad, which directs key organizational changes to ensure that the U.S. Government is doing all that it can to safely recover Americans taken hostage overseas and is being responsive to the needs of their families.
