Video captures glitching Mississippi voting machines flipping votes
[Naked Security] "It is not letting me vote for who I want to vote for," a Mississippi voter said in a video that shows him repeatedly pushing a button on an electronic touch-screen voting machine that keeps switching his vote to another candidate.

On Tuesday morning, the date of Mississippi's Republican primary election for governor, the video was posted to Twitter...

...and to Facebook by user Sally Kate Walker, who wrote this as a caption:

Ummmm ... seems legit, Mississippi.

Walker said in a comment that the incident happened in Oxford, Miss., in Lafayette County. A local paper, the Clarion Ledger, reported that as of Tuesday night, there were at least three reports confirmed by state elections officials of voting machines in two counties changing voters' selections in the state's GOP governor primary runoff.

The machines were switching voters' selections from Bill Waller Jr.- a former Supreme Court Chief justice ‐ to Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves. Waller's campaign told the Clarion Ledger it also received reports of misbehaving voter machines in at least seven other counties.

Waller conceded to Reeves around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. With Reeves leading 54% to Waller's 46%, it looks unlikely that the glitches affected the outcome.

Before the malfunctioning machine was discovered in Lafayette County, the machine ‐ reportedly a paperless AccuVote TSX from Diebold - only recorded 19 votes, according to Anna Moak, a spokeswoman for the Secretary of State's Office. A technician was dispatched, and the machine is being replaced, she said.

#3  Unbelievable GOP didn't make a 50 state push for paper ballots during all the Russians stole our votes nonsense. They'd have gotten liberals eating up the message and the liberal politicians would have been unable to publicly explain why their party needs electronic voting machines.

Arabia
King-of-the-Hill Calvinball Intense fighting between Allies in Yemen
[TheGuardian] Escalation in war for control of Aden between government and UAE-backed separatists

Intense fighting has broken out between former allies in Yemen’s complex war for control of the interim capital Aden, threatening to open a new front in the war and raising fears for civilians’ safety.

Forces loyal to the Yemeni government were hit by airstrikes on Thursday as they travelled towards Aden, killing at least 30 troops, a government commander said.

While he did not say who carried out the strikes, a coalition led by Saudi Arabia is the only party to the four-year-old conflict with airpower. The attack is a major escalation in a three-week struggle for control of Aden between the Yemeni government and the separatist Southern Transitional Council (STC) movement, which is backed by the United Arab Emirates. Officials in the UAE declined to comment on the strikes.

The government and the STC are ostensibly allies in the Saudi-led coalition fighting against Houthi rebels who seized much of north Yemen and the capital, Sana'a, in 2014. The STC's ultimate goal, however, is independence for the south from what it says is corruption and mismanagement by Hadi's government, which it says has ties to Islamists.

The rift has also exposed tensions between coalition members Saudi Arabia, which backs President Hadi, and the UAE, which funds the STC and arms its fighting forces.

"At least nine others are maimed in the festivities and the Talibs were pushed back after Afghan forces reinforced the area," said Walizada.

Taliban officials were not immediately available for a comment.

How a Proxy War Could Blow Up Iraq‐Again
[FP] With the country barely stabilizing after 16 years of conflict, war-weary Iraqis fear a new eruption of attacks by the U.S. and Israel against Iranian-backed forces inside the country.

BAGHDAD‐When a mysterious drone strike killed two members of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) on Sunday‐and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that his country might be involved‐it was only the latest sign to war-weary Iraqis that they can’t get a break. Just as they’re getting on their feet, Iraq is becoming a battleground for foreigners once again.

Afghanistan
Khalilzad Edges Closer to Pact With Taliban
[FP] Zalmay Khalilzad, the U.S. special representative for Afghan reconciliation, is on the verge of an agreement with the Taliban that would pave the way for the withdrawal of some 14,000 U.S. troops from Afghanistan in exchange for guarantees that the war-wracked nation would not be used as a haven for international terrorism, according to diplomatic sources.

Khalilzad will now mount a final push to persuade Afghanistan’s president, Ashraf Ghani, to accept the agreement ahead of the country’s Sept. 28 presidential election. If a deal is clinched, the United States will hold a signing ceremony with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar, before an audience of representatives from key world powers, including from the region, Europe, and possibly China and Russia.

After reaching a tentative deal with the Taliban during the ninth round of talks in Doha, Khalilzad is expected to travel to Kabul for two to three days to seek Ghani’s approval, according to a diplomatic source with contacts in the Afghan government and the Taliban. Khalilzad would then return to Doha to sign the pact with the Taliban’s chief negotiator, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the source said.

The final pact, which is being translated into Dari and Pashto, will call for the phased withdrawal of U.S. troops over the next 15 to 18 months‐just in time for the 2020 U.S. presidential election. It will include a cease-fire, detail verifiable assurances that the Taliban will not permit terrorist organizations such as al Qaeda or the Islamic State to maintain a toehold in territory under their control, and set a date for intra-Afghan talks in Oslo, Norway. In anticipation of a deal, a team of scholars and diplomats has already arrived in Oslo to prepare the groundwork for the talks.

#5  This is not good.

A mass fatality asymmetrical attack on political and economic centers in the US is not a fatal mistake.

The West is about to formally acknowledge a humiliating defeat in a war where nothing short of a clear victory should have been acceptable.

Putin, Kim, Xi, Khamenei, et al are watching this spectacle and they're drawing their conclusions.

Precipitous withdrawal would be problematic, but still preferable to this explicit humiliation.

'Liberated Afghanistan' is a sharia abomination antithetical to any notion of decency as defined by Western civilization. The only redeeming quality being its passive aggressive nature.

Let it sink.

#6  Echo that.

But maybe indirect help and assist can give the pro-democrat Afghans a fighting chance. Use the ISIS-Taliban feud to keep both islamist outfits in a certain vicinity and then strike them together. Or a coordinated nuke attack on the Afghan-Pak border where most Taliban power originates. In either case, everyone's troops shall have to clear out.

It's crazy to stay there if this half-measured 'management of expectations' is all you're gonna do. There is no solution to be had, except by exterminating millions.

#7  Except it’s not just ISIS vs Taliban. There are also the Haqqani group, Uighurs, Chechens, European jihadi tourists attached to other groups for training and general Muslim happiness... and probably others that I don’t know about or can’t remember. Afghanistan is a jihadi incubator — lots of groups are lying up there, either as a safe space for rest and recuperation or as a growing medium until they get big enough to go elsewhere.

#8  The key here - what will lead Ghani to sign on the dotted line - is the continuation of US aid to Afghan security forces. That comes to $5b a year (page 16 below).

-Lurid Crime Tales-
DOJ inspector general found all four Carter Page FISA warrants were illegally obtained, Joe diGenova says
[Washington Examiner] The Justice Department inspector general has determined all four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants against onetime Trump campaign aide Carter Page were illegally obtained, attorney Joe diGenova said this week.
And the black robed tyrants who rubber stamped each application, what about those fellas ?
In an investigation that began last year, Inspector General Michael Horowitz examined the Justice Department's and FBI's compliance with legal requirements as well as policies and procedures in applications filed with the U.S. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court related to Page as part of a larger counterintelligence inquiry into President Trump's campaign.

Back in May, diGenova, a former U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, said the three FISA warrant extensions against Page were illegally obtained, adding "the only question now is whether or not the first FISA was illegally obtained."
One follow-on question please. Was Carter Page aware of his role as a Trump campaign FBI source? While he's playing the victom now, I'd reckon he was keenly aware of his clandestine role.
Now diGenova says Horowitz made the same determination about the warrant that started it all.

"I can report categorically that the inspector general has found that all four FISA warrants were illegal. They were based on false information supplied to the FISA Court. And Michael Horowitz has concluded that all four FISA warrants were illegal," he told WMAL on Monday.

The announcement comes days after The Hill's John Solomon reported Horowitz had completed his investigation and, after a declassification period, could be released sometime between mid-September to early October.

DiGenova previously said memos, obtained by conservative group Citizens United through open-records litigation, suggest the FBI might have misled the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in the first warrant application about an unverified dossier.

The dossier, compiled by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, contained salacious and unverified claims about Trump's ties to Russia. It was used by the FBI to obtain the authority to wiretap Page, an American who had suspicious connections to the Russians. The first warrant application was submitted in October 2016, after which there were three renewals at three-month intervals, including in January, April, and June 2017.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would be....non-US citizen Christopher Steele, AMIRITE? Are there no rules regarding such evidence and sources? Is the seldom mentioned '18 U.S. Code § 3491. Foreign documents' applicable ?
The warrant applications were approved by a number of high-ranking officials, including former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, and former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates.
All recently revealed as the Bernie and Ruth Madoff's of the FBI and Justice system.
The memos obtained by Citizens United, and shared with the Washington Examiner, show Steele met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec on Oct. 11 and admitted he was encouraged by a client to get his research out before the 2016 election, signaling a possible political motivation. The timing of the meeting is notable, as it was 10 days before the FBI used Steele's unverified dossier to obtain the original warrant to wiretap Page.

DiGenova served as an independent counsel in the 1990s for a case on former President Bill Clinton's passport before he was elected. Last year, it was announced diGenova and his wife and legal partner Victoria Toensing were joining Trump's legal team for the federal Russia investigation, but that plan was nixed within days. He had been highly critical of Mueller's Russia investigation, claiming that Trump had been "framed" by the Justice Department and the FBI, and has spread conspiracy theories about it.

But diGenova appears to have some knowledgeable sources.
While the rest of us struggle, Joe and Victoria maintain their finely tuned mental acuity by working difficult legal-term crossword puzzles and engaging in rapid fire, single digit math problems.
In April he said a "bombshell" report on Comey was imminent that included criminal referrals. Although diGenova's expectation for the report's release in two weeks was off the mark, Comey was criminally referred for his memos memorializing his conversations with Trump. The Justice Department declined to prosecute. In a piece published Wednesday, the Washington Examiner's Byron York confirmed with sources that Horowitz is preparing to release a report on Comey's conduct in the Trump-Russia investigation, separate from the report on alleged FISA abuses.

#3  Carter Page was not charged with a single crime (never mind convicted or indicted), so the illegality of the FISA warrants for him are not an issue.

For other people, e.g., Gen Flynn, the situation is more complicated. Flynn might get off from the 'lying to the FBI' charge but his illegal lobbying is straightforward stuff. Flynn wrote an op ed calling Gulan a terrorist and advocating returning him to Turkey. At the time Flynn was being paid by Turkey but hadn't registered as a lobbyist.

How The Birth Of The Oil Industry Saved Whales And Propelled Today's Prosperity
[The Federalist] This Aug. 28 marks the 160-year anniversary of the birth of the oil industry, not in Saudi Arabia, but in western Pennsylvania, right here in the United States. Don’t let this day slip by without giving thanks toward an industry that has done so much, including to save the whales, to improve the quality of life for many and transform our society for the better.

Way before the birth of the oil industry in 1859, knowledge of oil had been around for centuries. Archaeologists discovered that the Mesopotamians and the Babylonians used oil in construction and medicines.

Since oil often bubbled up to the surface, for hundreds of years the Seneca Indian tribe in Pennsylvania had collected some from creeks and water wells and used it as an insect repellent and as a medicine to treat stiff joints and ailments. By the 1850s, however, numerous salt miners in western Pennsylvania began to regard oil as a nuisance because it often emerged at the surface of their salt wells, and they didn’t know how to tackle the issue until Samuel Kier came along.

FINDING NEW USES FOR OIL
Kier and his father were owners of several salt wells at Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Initially, Kier was just as irritated as everyone else that oil kept contaminating his salt well. But unlike the rest, Kier initiated a chemical analysis of the oil and discovered that some of its components were identical to the "American Medicinal Oil" his wife used for joint pain.

A good entrepreneur never wastes new opportunities. In 1852, Kier began to sell oil from his salt well as "Kier’s Rock Oil" in 8-ounce jars for 50 cents each, marketing it a "medicine" for burns, asthma, and many more ailments.

Since there was more oil than Kier could sell as medicine, he began to look for other ways to commercialize his excessive supply. He sent a sample to professor James Curtis Booth of the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, founder of the first commercial chemical laboratory in the United States. Booth’s analysis proved that the rock oil could be distilled for use in lighting.

Back then, people relied on oil candles and lamps that used whale blubber for lighting. Whale blubber was not a viable option for the poor, however, because it was too costly to produce. It required big ships and manual labor to hunt whales, not to mention it is difficult to keep in storage for a long time and has a very unpleasant smell.

The supply of whale blubber was also limited: An average-sized whale could only produce between 25 to 40 barrels of oil. Starting in the 18th century, the Industrial Revolution drove up demand for whale blubber, and the hunt for whales to meet such demand almost drove them into extinction. #6  Lubrication was an important driver. With the onset of the Age of Steam™ there was a need for greasy "stuff": animal grease, whale grease, etc. were just not keeping up with the demand. There was even a trade in Palm Oil (Note that the current "sustainable" Palm Oil was deemed too big a hassle in the 1800's! Take That! you Greenies wanted to fill the Third World with eco-fuel plantations). Petroleum-based greases filled that void nicely.

Pakistan defends shelling which recently killed, wounded 9 Afghan children
[KhaamaPress] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistain has claimed that the military of the country only resorts to shelling on Afghan districts in ’self-defense’.

According to a statement released by Foreign Ministry of Pakistain "As a matter of policy, Pakistain does not fire across Pak-Afghan Border. Cross border attacks by Terrorists on Army/FC posts are responded to in self-defense only."

The statement further added "Pakistain has formally shared location of these terrorist camps in the areas mentioned and has requested Government of Afghanistan to deploy its forces in these areas to bring it under their effective control."

Meanwhile,
...back at the shootout, Butch clutched at his shoulder. Ow! he exclaimed, with feeling......
the Afghan officials say the latest wave of shelling by Pak military has killed three children in eastern Kunar province
... which is right down the road from Chitral. Kunar is Haqqani country.....
of Afghanistan.

Officials in Kunar Police Headquarters said the shelling also maimed 6 other children.

The officials further added that a rocket landed in Dangam district killing three children and wounding six others.

The provincial officials also added that the Pak military has fired more than 700 artillery shells and mortar rounds on Kunar in the past one month.

Russian Air Force destroys jihadist tunnels in northeast Latakia
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian Air Force carried out several Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s over the northeastern region of the Latakia Governorate on Wednesday.

Using both their attack choppers and jets, the Russian Air Force heavily targeted on Wednesday the tunnels built by the jihadist rebels near the key town of Kabani.

According to a military source in the Latakia Governorate, the Russian Air Force carried out over 20 separate attacks near the town of Kabani; this was followed by a number of missile strikes by the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 4th Division.

At the same time, more Syrian Army reinforcements are pouring into the Latakia countryside, as they prepare to launch a major assault to capture Kabani from Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

Racism in US is institutional ‘white man’s problem’: Joe Biden
[DAWN] Racism in America is an institutional "white man’s problem visited on people of color", former US Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
said on Tuesday, arguing that the way to attack the issue is to defeat President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
and hold him responsible for deepening the nation’s racial divide.

Taking aim at incendiary racial appeals by Trump, Biden said in an interview with a small group of news hounds that a president’s words can "appeal to the worst damn instincts of human nature", just as they can move markets or take a nation into war.

Biden is leading his Democratic challengers for the presidential nomination in almost all polls, largely because of the support of black voters. He has made appealing to them central to his candidacy and vowed to make maximising black and Latino turnout an "overwhelming focus" of his effort. The interview, more than an hour long, focused largely on racial issues.

"White folks are the reason we have institutional racism," Biden said. "There has always been racism in America. White supremacists have always existed, they still exist." He added later that in his administration, it would "not be tolerated".

By highlighting the nation’s racial tensions and placing blame on Trump, Biden is showing that he, too, is willing to make race a core campaign issue, but from the opposite perspective of the president. Turnout and enthusiasm among black voters will be critical for the Democratic nominee, notably to try to reclaim states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. He also emphasised a crossover appeal to both black voters and non-college-educated white voters.

Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
on Wednesday hanged in public a man convicted of murdering the leader of main weekly prayers in the southern city of Kazeroun, state news agency IRNA said.

Hamid Reza Derakhshandeh was executed at the scene where he killed the holy man on May 29, IRNA reported, citing the chief justice of Fars province, Kazem Mousavi.

Mohammad Khorsand suffered fatal injuries when attacked with a "cold weapon" while returning from a ceremony during Ramazan, IRNA said.

The holy man had been the leader of Friday prayers in Kazeroun, the capital of Fars province, since 2007.

After his arrest, Derakhshandeh stood trial and "confessed to the premeditated crime in the presence of judicial authorities," Mousavi was quoted as saying.

The death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
was upheld by the supreme court and carried out after the holy man's family decided not to spare the life of the killer who refused to express regret, Fars news agency reported.

Under Iranian law, a murder victim's family can spare a convict's life by accepting blood money.

"Due to the sensitivity of the case and the public sentiments in this regard, efforts were made for the case to be investigated promptly," Mousavi said.

Imams who lead Friday prayers in Iran are appointed by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Death toll rises to 26 in arson attack, cantina 'Caballo Blanco' closed until further notice
[Aljazeera] At least 26 people were killed in an arson attack by suspected gang members on a bar in the southeastern Mexican port of Coatzacoalcos late on Tuesday, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said, in a fresh blow to his efforts to curb violence.

Calling the attack "horrendous," Lopez Obrador told a regular morning news conference on Wednesday that the deaths occurred after the suspected gang members closed the emergency exits of the bar in Coatzacoalcos and set fire to it.

The attorney general's office of the state of Veracruz said in a statement on Wednesday that 10 women and 16 men died in the fire at the "Caballo Blanco" bar, and 11 people who were injured were being treated at nearby hospitals.

Lopez Obrador said that initial investigations indicated that some suspects behind the attack had been in custody this year and were later released.

U.S. Cyberattack Hurt Iran's Ability to Target Oil Tankers, Officials Say
But don't tell nobody, cuz it's a secret.
[NYTimes] A secret cyberattack against Iran in June wiped out a critical database used by Iran’s paramilitary arm to plot attacks against oil tankers and degraded Tehran’s ability to covertly target shipping traffic in the Persian Gulf, at least temporarily, according to senior American officials.

Iran is still trying to recover information destroyed in the June 20 attack and restart some of the computer systems ‐ including military communications networks ‐ taken offline, the officials said.
Nightly offsite backups weren't a part of their IT recovery plan, apparently
Senior officials discussed the results of the strike in part to quell doubts within the Trump administration about whether the benefits of the operation outweighed the cost ‐ lost intelligence and lost access to a critical network used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Iran’s paramilitary forces.

The United States and Iran have long been involved in an undeclared cyberconflict, one carefully calibrated to remain in the gray zone between war and peace. The June 20 strike was a critical attack in that ongoing battle, officials said, and it went forward even after President Trump called off a retaliatory airstrike that day after Iran shot down an American drone.

Iran has not escalated its attacks in response, continuing its cyberoperations against the United States government and American corporations at a steady rate, according to American government officials.

American cyberoperations are designed to change Iran’s behavior without initiating a broader conflict or prompting retaliation, said Norman Roule, a former senior intelligence official. Because they are rarely acknowledged publicly, cyberstrikes are much like covert operations, he said.

"You need to ensure your adversary understands one message: The United States has enormous capabilities which they can never hope to match, and it would be best for all concerned if they simply stopped their offending actions," Mr. Roule said.
Fuck with us and you will be using smoke signals to communicate. Capiche?

#1  I'm happy if the US cyberattack worked but targeting big slow tankers should not really require a sophisticated computer program.

#2  NEDSA acquired access to shipping data for tankers; numbers, timelines, usual cargo, routes, signatories at port etc. It was crude but gave them ample data to have a database which they keep updated through compromised port and customs authorities, allowing them to estimate weakest route points and tanker hulls, structure.

It was the link for the updates that the cyberattack used in June this year and f↻cked that database. Also, they can't trust the update sources anymore, they could lead then into some embarrassments, so it's back to re-collecting the info which took months. It doesn't really remove their capability to plot attacks however, but sort of diminishes it. So 'Oorah' for the hit.

Not saying a word mor...

Iraq seeks alternative oil export route via Turkey amid Persian Gulf tensions
[Rudaw] Iraq’s oil minister said on Wednesday that his country hopes to construct a new pipeline with neighboring The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
as Baghdad seeks to establish oil export routes away from the Persian Gulf, currently plagued by high tensions between Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and the US and its allies.

Iraqi Oil Minister Thamir Ghadhban met with Ottoman Turkish counterpart Fatih Donmez in Baghdad on Wednesday, where he informed the Ottoman Turkish minister "about the willingness of the [Iraqi] ministry of oil - with support from the Iraqi government - to construct a new pipeline to transport Iraqi crude oil from Kirkuk to Iraqi border through the same old track," he said during a joint presser with Donmez after the meeting.

He was referring to an old Kirkuk-Ceyhan pipeline between the two countries which came under frequent attacks by gangs after the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. It is no longer used by Iraq because of the damage it sustained.

With 90 percent of Iraq’s government revenue coming from oil exports, the country is heavily dependent on safe navigation of the Persian Gulf for its subsistence.

Iraq exports about five million barrels of crude oil per day to world markets, including more than a hundred thousand barrels per day from Kirkuk to Turkey through the Kurdistan Region’s pipelines.

Kurdistan Region used to export more than 300,000 bpd from the province of Kirkuk to Turkey before October 16, 2017, when the Iraqi army and pro-Iran militia groups drove Kurdish Peshmerga forces out of the province following a Kurdish referendum for independence from Iraq.

With exports from Kirkuk to Turkey suspended, oil was instead sent to Iran via tankers. The venture proved costly, unsafe, and was ultimately ordered to a halt by the US because of Washington's imposition of oil industry sanctions on Iran.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
Erbil and Baghdad reached an agreement in late 2018 to export the Kirkuk oil via the Kurdistan Region’s pipelines to Turkey. The KRG charges Iraq for use of the pipeline.

23 killed in attack on bar in southern Mexico
[DAWN] An attack on a bar in Mexico's Gulf coast city of Coatzacoalcos killed 23 people and injured 13 late on Tuesday.

The attackers started a fire that destroyed the bar, killing 8 women and 15 men. Photos of the scene showed tables and chairs jumbled around, apparently as people tried to flee.

State police identified the establishment as the "Bar Caballo Blanco," and said the search was continuing for the attackers.

The fire may have been started with gasoline bombs.

It came almost eight years to the day after a fire started in 2011 at a casino in the northern city of Monterrey killed 52 people. The Zetas narco mob staged that attack to enforce demands for protection payments.

The Zetas, now splintered, have also been active in Coatzacoalcos.

The attack, along with the killing of 19 people in the western city of Uruapan earlier this month, is likely to renew fears that the public, theatrical violence of the 2006-2012 drug war has returned.

Lebanese Army attacks Israeli drone near southern border
[ALMASDARNEWS] Leb’s army has shot up an Israeli drone in the south of the country, Rooters reported, citing Lebanese security sources.

According to the source, the troops fired shots from M16 assault rifles.

The National News Agency reported that the incident took place at the village of Odeisseh, near Marjayoun, near the border with Israel. The Lebanese Army stated that it had forced the two drones to return by firing at them.

In the meantime, an Israeli military spokeswoman has stated that they’re "checking the report".

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) has posted an image with a list of what the Hezbollah movement is "doing for Leb" and what the country is "doing to stop them".

On 25 August, two Israeli drones crashed near Hezbollah’s headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, with one of them exploding in the air, injuring three people and causing significant damage to the headquarters.

Hezbollah leader Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
has rejected reports about the group downing the two crashed drones, but threatened Israel with an "adequate" response. Beirut, in turn, has described what happened with the Israeli "reconnaissance drones" as "aggression" and an attack on its illusory sovereignty.

Police stop marriage of minors in Khanewal; arrest fathers of underage 'groom, bride'
[DAWN] Police in Khanewal on Wednesday stopped the marriage of a 15-year-old girl to a 14-year-old boy and arrested the fathers of the two minors.

A case was registered at the Nawan Shaher cop shoppe in Kabirwala, Khanewal and legal proceedings have been initiated. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the case was registered under Section 6(1) of the Child Marriage Restraint Act (CMRA) 1929. In March 2015, the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government enacted the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Act, 2015 but instead of repealing the CMRA 1929 it made several amendments to the law.

According to locals in the area, the children were being forcefully married.

Police said they received reports from intelligence agencies that the marriage between the two minors was underway. They raided the location where the wedding ceremony was taking place and on the orders of District Police Officer Umer Saeed Malik, the rukhsathi of the girl was stopped. They arrested both the children's fathers, who are brothers.

The Nikah Khwan (marriage officiator), however, escaped. Police say they are conducting searches for his arrest.

In April, the Senate passed the Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill, 2018 which proposed that the legal minimum age of marriage in the country be set at 18. A day after this a similar legislation was introduced in the National Assembly, but only after an intense discussion which exposed cracks within various parties on the issue.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The jihadist rebels launched a new offensive in southern Idlib on Tuesday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the town of ’Atshan.

Led by Rouse the Believers, the jihadist rebels began their attack by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at the Tal Maraq axis; this would result in a fierce firefight that would last for a short period of time on Tuesday.

Despite the intensity of the festivities, the jihadist rebels were unable to crack the Syrian Arab Army’s lines at Tal Maraq, which ultimately resulted in their withdrawal from this axis.

According to a military source near the front-lines, the jihadist rebels suffered over ten casualties during the failed attack on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s attack by the jihadist rebels marked the first time since they lost Khan Sheikhoun and several towns in northern Hama that they have launched an assault on the Syrian Army’s positions.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Intelligence Insiders: ‘Establishment' Officials In DNI Still Withholding Documents From Attorney General
[Red State] On May 23rd, President Trump granted Barr the authority to declassify any documents he and his team required to conduct their investigation into the origins of the Trump/Russia probe. The President also ordered the intelligence community to comply with all of Barr’s requests. According to Real Clear Investigation’s Paul Sperry, inside sources say that "establishment" officials inside the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) have continued to withhold documents which Barr has requested.

Both the Director, Dan Coats, and his deputy, Sue Gordon, left the agency on August 15th. Gordon was said to be a close ally of former-CIA Director Brennan’s.

Although Coats and Gordon have departed, agency officials have continued to "drag their feet."

Sperry writes that the specific documents being withheld include:

1. Evidence that President Obama’s CIA, FBI, and Justice Department illegally eavesdropped on the Trump campaign.

2. President Obama and CIA chief John Brennan: key briefing still under wraps.

3. An August 2016 briefing CIA Director John Brennan hand-delivered in a sealed envelope to Obama, containing information from what Brennan claimed was "a critical informant close to Putin." The informant is believed to have actually been a Russian source recycled from the largely debunked dossier compiled by ex-British agent Christopher Steele for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

An email exchange from December 2016 between Brennan and FBI Director James Comey, in which Brennan is said to have argued for using the dossier in early drafts of the task force’s much-hyped January 2017 intelligence assessment. That spread the narrative that Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the alleged Clinton campaign hacking to steal the election for Trump.

Copies of all FBI, CIA and State Department records related to Joseph Mifsud, the mysterious Maltese professor whose statements regarding Papadopoulos allegedly triggered the original Russia-collusion probe.

4. Transcripts of 53 closed-door interviews of FBI and Justice Department officials and other witnesses conducted by the House Intelligence Committee. The files were sent to the agency last November.

The DNI was created after 9/11 and is now the "gatekeeper" for much of the government’s classified information.

A source "close to the situation" told Sperry that, "There’s been a huge impasse in getting key documents to Congress and declassified during the Russia investigation. Several House members, especially Devin Nunes [of House Intelligence] and Mark Meadows [of House Oversight)] were upset that Coats refused to cooperate in releasing this explosive material to Congress...It was clear Coats was not acting on the president’s behalf and had been co-opted by the intelligence bureaucracy."

1300 displaced Iraqis returned from Turkey in past three months: ministry
[Rudaw] Ninety three displaced Iraqis returned home from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
on Tuesday, according to the Iraqi Ministry of Migration and Displaced. A total of 1,299 Iraqis have returned from Turkey over the past three months with help from the government, according to the ministry’s director general of migration affairs.

"The ministry’s office in Turkey, in coordination with the Iraqi embassy in Ankara and the Iraqi Ministry of Transport, provided busses to transport Iraqi refugees from Turkey to homeland," Asghar Dousa said in a statement on Tuesday.

The refugees re-entered Iraqi territory through the Ibrahim Khalil border gate between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey. The returns were voluntary, according to the statement.

"He [Dousa] stressed the Ministry’s continuation in having Iraqis return from the Ottoman Turkish republic to their liberated areas without a cost," it read.

The destination of the returnees or where they are from in Iraq was not disclosed in the statement, nor were the reasons for their displacement.

More than 3,000,000 Iraqis were displaced when the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS

) swept through northern Iraq in 2014, with more than a million coming to the Kurdistan Region. A total of 260,000 Iraqis are refugees in other countries, including Turkey, according to UN statistics.

Many of the displaced have since returned home, but more than 1,600,000 Iraqis are still displaced, according to the International Office of Migration (IOM).

According to the Kurdistan Region’s Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC), 763,277 displaced Iraqis currently live in the Kurdistan Region.

Iraqi displaced returnees receive 1,500,000 IQD (around $1,200) per family to help with their resettlement, according to the Ministry Migration and Displaced.

Other displaced Iraqis have returned home as well recently. The ministry announced that 4,325 came back to the Nineveh province from camps in the Saladin province in August, for example.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
other returnees are now going back to the camps in the Kurdistan Region again, including some from djinn-infested Mosul

Syrian Army storms strategic town in southern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The battle for Ta’manah has begun this evening as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies attempt to take hold of this key town in the southern region of the Idlib Governorate.

Led by the Tiger Forces and Elite Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by storming Ta’manah and the nearby town of Khuwayn al-Kabir.

According to a source from the Elite Republican Guard, their troops captured at least three quarters of Khuwayn al-Kabir, leaving only a small portion of the town left under the control of the jihadist forces.

At the same time, the Tiger Forces are steadily advancing at the Ta’manah front, as they push north from the strategic hilltop of Tal Tari, which was captured shortly after Khan Sheikhoun last week.

The Syrian Army is seeking to capture both Khuwayn and Ta’manah in a bid to secure the northern axis of Hama and the roads east of Khan Sheikhoun.

Yemen Forces Enter Aden after Seizure by Separatists
[AnNahar] Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
government forces entered the interim capital Aden and recaptured a nearby province Wednesday, officials said, pushing back separatists who had seized parts of the south this month.

"The national army and security services reached at this moment the interim capital and begin to secure districts," Yemeni Information Minister Moammer al-Eryani said on Twitter.

The main gate of the city's airport had also been secured, he added.

An AFP correspondent in the east of the city witnessed shelling by advancing government forces who came fresh from their success in taking back control of Abyan
...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues...
province to the east.

"Heroes of the national army and security agencies have retaken Zinjibar city, the capital of Abyan province, and complete their control over other districts of the province," Eryani said.

A pro-government source told AFP that fighting had erupted in the streets of the city, as loyalist troops fanned out there.

The separatists, who seek an independent South Yemen, seized Aden on August 10 following heavy festivities with government troops. That major gain saw them press on to take other strategic areas, before being pushed back.

Abyan was the second southern province to be retaken by government forces in southern Yemen in days following festivities with the Security Belt, a paramilitary force loyal to the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Earlier in the week, government forces regained control of Shabwa province after beating back an attack by STC forces.

DHS bars Dem staffers from visiting border facilities after 'rude' and 'disruptive' behavior
[Fox News] The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has barred Democratic staffers from the House Oversight Committee from visiting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facilities at the U.S.-Mexico border as part of a planned trip this week after committee staff allegedly were "disruptive" and refused to follow instructions during their last trip, Fox News has learned.

Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings, D-Md., had sent his staff to visit border facilities for "oversight inspections" last week and planned to send staff again to view Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and CBP centers.
POS staffers from a POS Congressman. *SPIT*
But sources told Fox News that DHS has revoked access to CBP facilities for the upcoming visit, citing staff behavior that "interfered" with law enforcement operations -- including refusing to leave one site after their scheduled window, skipping some tours and being "rude" to officers. A DHS official said that ICE visits will still be allowed this week, but with a two-hour time limit. One of those visits took place on Tuesday.

"Due to the operational burden placed on the field by their refusal to comply with instruction during last week's STAFFDEL [staff delegation visit], CBP pulled the trip in which more site visits were to take place at CBP and ICE facilities this week," a senior DHS official told Fox News in an email Wednesday. "DHS communicated to the committee that due to their conduct, CBP could not support visits from the committee this week."

A Democratic source suggested the visit is being nixed due to concerns about what staff were learning from detainees about conditions on the ground.

That's not how the agency described it. Last week, following a visit to one of the first facilities on the committee staff's itinerary, DHS Assistant Secretary of Legislative Affairs Christine Ciccone wrote to Cummings, notifying him that due to his staff's violations of guidelines, their planned follow-up tour could not be accommodated.

"During discussions between Department and Committee staff, however, the Committee staff repeatedly stated that they do not intend to abide by DHS guidelines," Ciccone wrote in the letter obtained by Fox News. "In light of this, we are unable to accommodate your staff's visit … unless we receive a firm commitment that the Committee and its staff will comply fully with all existing guidelines and policies."

She added that the staff's attempts to "conduct interviews and take photographs" without limitations are "a significant deviation" from DHS policy and "could jeopardize" the department's ability to meet legal obligations.

The night before last week's visits, DHS officials had a "late-night" phone call with committee staff, urging them to "respect officers on the ground" as to not "disrupt business" at facilities.

But according to a CBP official, the committee's chief counsel, who led the delegation starting in Yuma, Ariz., "refused to leave the facility after the hour-long tour," despite previously agreeing to a 45-minute tour at each location.

A rocket was fired from Gaza at Israel failed to clear border, landed inside the Strip; IDF bombs Hamas post

The Times of Israel adds:
Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket toward southern Israel on Wednesday night, the army said, prompting a retaliatory Israeli raid.

In response, an Israeli military aircraft bombed a Hamas observation post along the border of the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF said.

The rocket attack came amid a flurry of exchanges of fire and mutual threats between Israel and terror groups in the Gaza Strip. Israel has accused the Iran-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad of being behind the recent violence emanating from the enclave.

On Tuesday, terrorists in the Strip fired four mortar shells toward Israel. Three landed on the Gaza side of the border and one struck an open field inside southern Israel. In response, an Israeli aircraft bombed a Hamas observation post east of Juhor ad-Dik in the central Gaza Strip, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Senior Egyptian intelligence officials invited Hamas leaders to Cairo for talks aimed at restoring calm and a delegation led by two top Hamas members was slated to leave Gaza late on Monday, according to Israel’s Kan public broadcaster.

A delegation from the Islamic Jihad is expected to head to Cairo in the coming days as well.

One of the assailants was riding a cycle of violence and went kaboom! at the police checkpoint near the Dahdouh junction in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, while another person went kaboom! at the Sahel checkpoint, west of Gaza City.

According to local reports, the family of Eslim al Basous, one of the suicide bombers, disowned him and condemned the "cowardly" attacks.

While the family distances themselves from Basous’s actions, they said that he was the "victim" of a conspiracy by "suspicious parties operating against the Paleostinians' national interests."
"Please don't kill us"
According to al-Bazm, significant progress has been achieved in the investigations. He claimed that the interests of those behind the attacks were the same as Israel's, namely instigating unrest and confusion in the Gaza Strip.

Although sources in the Gaza Strip pointed out that the attacks may have been carried out by Paleostinians belonging to Salafi groups, some Hamas officials said they did not rule out the possibility that the rival Fatah faction and Israel were behind the suicide kabooms.

The officials expressed outrage over Fatah's response to the attacks, especially remarks by senior Fatah official Munir al-Jaghoub, who said that the suicide kabooms were not different that terror attacks targeting Fatah members during Hamas's 2007 violent takeover of the Gaza Strip. Mahmoud al-Aloul, deputy chairman of Fatah, hinted that the attacks were the result of Hamas's "pressure" on Paleostinians in the Gaza Strip.

Izzat Risheq, a senior Hamas official, said that the attacks were aimed at stirring unrest and security chaos in the Gaza Strip. "The malicious dream of those who want to create anarchy [in the Gaza Strip] will not be fulfilled," he said. He and several Gaza-based Paleostinian factions accused Israel and "its agents" of being behind the attacks, saying the goal is to undermine stability and spread anarchy" in the Hamas-ruled coastal enclave.‭‮

Report: Dahiyeh Drone Attack Targeted Iranian Guided-Missile Technology
[AnNahar] A suspected Israeli drone attack on a Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
site in Beirut’s southern suburbs targeted "crates believed to contain machinery to mix high-grade propellant for precision guided missiles," Britannia’s The Times newspaper reported on Tuesday, quoting unnamed Western intelligence sources.

Hizbullah said overnight that a drone that crashed in its southern Beirut suburbs stronghold at the weekend contained an bomb weighing more than five kilograms.

The Iran-backed group had previously said an Israeli reconnaissance drone had flown over the southern suburbs before crashing, and that a second armed drone had then "hit a specific area" before dawn on Sunday.

But after the party's "experts dismantled the first drone that crashed in Beirut's southern suburbs, it was found that it contained a sealed bomb" of around 5.5 kilograms, it said in a statement.

"We confirm that the purpose of this first drone was not reconnaissance but the carrying out of a bombing attack," it added.

The latest discovery, Hizbullah said, confirms that Sunday's drone attack involved not one but two explosive-rigged drones -- one which went kaboom! and the other that did not because of a technical failure.

The incident marked the first such "hostile action" in Leb since a 2006 war between Hizbullah and Israel, the party's chief Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
said on Sunday, vowing retaliation.

Israel did not claim responsibility for the attack but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that his country was ready to use "all means necessary" to defend itself against Iranian threats "on several fronts."

South Sudan’s Maiwut speaker denies impeachment
[Sudan Tribune] The Speaker of South Sudan’s Maiwut state has dismissed reports claiming he has been impeached and replaced from his parliamentary role, pointing accusing fingers to the incumbent governor.

Legislative Assembly, told Sudan Tribune on Tuesday that reports claiming he was removed from his positions were advancing the activities of the governor and his group whose activities are not based on the constitution and guiding principles.

I would like to say that I am still the speaker of Maiwut state. I am not been removed from my duties. What is circulating on social media are false. False reports are circulating on the media outlets that I have been removed from the position of Speakership, explained Kir.

The top politician explained that what happened last week on Wednesday was the opening of the secession of parliament after the members returned from the recess and the governor opened it.

"What happened last Wednesday was the opening of the second session ceremony whereby Hon. Governor addressed the Assembly and declared the official opening of the Assembly. In the history of South Sudan State Legislative Assembly before and after the Independence of the Republic of South Sudan, there is no business on the day of the opening of Assembly apart from the celebration for the opening function. Removal of Speaker and Deputy Speaker require legal and constitutional procedures", he explained.

Kir explained that the decision of his deputy was unconstitutional and does not consider it valid because the official was purportedly acting on the influence of the governor Bol Ruach Rom.

The deputy speaker, James Ruach Long, believed to have been the person who spearheaded the plot on behalf of the governor, claimed in separate news reports the speaker Kir was impeached by 15 members.

500 Protests, Hundreds Injured in Kashmir Lockdown
[AnNahar] At least 500 incidents of protest have broken out in Indian Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
since New Delhi revoked its autonomy more than three weeks ago, a senior government source told AFP Wednesday, as authorities promised to create 50,000 jobs in the restive region.

The Himalayan valley is under a strict lockdown, imposed hours before India's decision to bring Kashmir under its direct rule. Movement is restricted and phone and internet services have been cut.

#3  Yes. In retrospect, it was an upload in rather bad taste. I'll spare you from more in the future.

But you see now what we must descend to sometimes to protect unwitting bystanders and uniformed nine to fivers from being suddenly blown apart by these things. Actually, the military never tortures tangos, we call the police reserves to do that. Some of these police grunts develop issues along the way, most of them end up shooting themselves, divorced loners, broken minds in later ages. The best ones can compartmentalize and adjust.

The shying away from torture and liquidation by 'civilized' States has only led to more audacity over the years. Trump is not wrong when he talks about torture for these things, although even he's stopped stressing on that. They are low down, hedonistic criminals every one of them. Justifying their subjugation of the weak, extorting poor families, abusing women their whole lives, they are fighting for their right to live in a goon paradise. To rob, rape and murder anybody who dares even frown at them. To be Saddam Husseins in their own little Iraq. One has to dredge up this perspective when the screams hit the walls.

You can't fight them without hatred. But that always costs you more than the enemy. For the enemy it's easy. His bloody book tells him it's all A-Ok with the Man Upstairs. In his eyes he's doing great, to his wife and mother he's a bloody hero !

I wish Gawd would show hisself suddenly and clear things up... Gaaah !

U.S. Blacklists Suppliers of Iran Missile Programs
[AnNahar] The U.S. Treasury placed two Iranian business groups on its sanctions blacklist Wednesday, saying both were important suppliers of Tehran's missile program and controllers of its alleged proliferation activities.

The Treasury, working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the "Dehghan Network" of Hamed Dehghan and Hadi Dehghan, had procured and supplied "military-grade electronic components" to an Iranian engineering company that works with the military and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The Dehghans work through their company Ebtekar Sanat Ilya, and a Hong Kong front company Green Industries (Hong Kong) Limited, the Treasury said.

A second group dubbed the "Shariat Network," controlled by Seyed Hossein Shariat and focused on his Asre Sanat Eshragh Company, was also blacklisted for supplying aluminum alloy products to Iranian entities already sanctioned for their missile proliferation and nuclear weapons programs.

The sanctions freeze any property those names have in US jurisdictions and aim to lock those blacklisted out of global commercial and financial networks by banning U.S. individuals and companies, including international companies with U.S. arms, from doing business with them.

The Treasury threatened sanctions against "any foreign financial institution that knowingly facilitates a significant transaction or provides significant financial services for any of the individuals designated today."

SpaceX's Mars rocket prototype rattles nerves of nearby residents in Texas flight test
[DAWN] SpaceX test-launched an early prototype of the company's Mars rocket on Tuesday, rattling the nerves of people living near the Texas site and clearing another key hurdle in billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk's interplanetary ambitions.

The prototype, dubbed Starhopper, slowly rose about 500 feet (152m) off its launch pad in Brownsville, Texas, and propelled itself some 650 feet (198m) eastward onto an adjacent landing platform, completing a seemingly successful low-altitude test of SpaceXs next-generation Raptor engine.

The Raptor is designed to power Musks forthcoming heavy-lift Starship rocket, a reusable two-stage booster taller than the Statue of Liberty that is expected to play a central role in Musks interplanetary space travel objectives, including missions to Mars.

The prototype "hopper" vehicle, resembling a chrome water tower with four landing legs, was originally slated for its test liftoff on Monday.

But a rather embarrassing wiring issue with the single Raptor engine halted the countdown less than a second before ignition, Musk, the SpaceX founder and chief executive, said on Twitter.

About a dozen people living in the adjacent village of Boca Chica, just over a mile from the test site, had been urged in advance by local authorities to vacate their homes as a precaution at the sound of police sirens that blared minutes before launch.

It almost looked like a cartoon or something, nearby resident Cheryl Stevens told Rooters just after Starhoppers flight. After all the buildup, it was kind of nice to actually see it happen.

The notices, circulated by sheriff's deputies three days in advance, warned of a possible "overpressure event" that could shatter windows and endanger anyone remaining inside their homes in the event of an explosive malfunction.

Maria Pointer, another resident, set up cameras and invited photographers to her home. She said excitement surrounding the launch reminded her of "feeling like youre going on a Ferris wheel.

UK's Johnson wins Queen's approval to suspend Parliament ahead of Brexit
[DAWN] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson

maneuvered on Wednesday to give his political opponents even less time to block a no-deal Brexit before the October 31 withdrawal deadline, winning Queen Elizabeth II's approval to suspend Parliament. His critics were outraged.

Though Johnson previously had refused to rule out such a move, the timing of the decision took politicians many of whom are on vacation by surprise.

Lawmakers reacted with fury, including John Bercow, speaker of the lower House of Commons, who was not told in advance of Johnson's plan.

"Shutting down Parliament would be an offense against the democratic process and the rights of parliamentarians as the people's elected representatives," Bercow said. "Surely at this early stage in his premiership, the prime minister should be seeking to establish rather than undermine his democratic credentials and indeed his commitment to Parliamentary democracy."

The ruling was issued by the Babil criminal court pursuant to article no. ¼ of the anti-terrorism law, the statement read.

Iraqi courts have sentenced many of Islamic State members to death over joining the holy warrior group.

The exact number of detained faceless myrmidons is still unknown, however, it’s estimated to be at thousands. It’s also unclear how many members are likely to face death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
s.

Moreover, the Iraqi government did not provide estimates about the number of the foreign detained faceless myrmidons or those who have Arab or Iraqi origins.

Experts estimate that Iraq is holding 20,000 people in jail over suspected IS membership.

Iraq’s anti-terrorism law empowers courts to convict people who are believed to have helped jihadists even if they are not accused of carrying out attacks.

Sudan Islamists vow to form broad opposition alliance to interim cabinet
[Sudan Tribune] The Islamist Popular Congress Party (PCP) of Ali al-Haj said determined to form a broad coalition in coordination with other political forces that were allied to the ousted regime to oppose the transitional government led by Abdallah Hamdok.

The PCP-initiated Coordination of National Forces (CNF) officially launched its activities last June two months after the fall of the al-Bashir regime. It gathers seven political groups, most of which participated in the coalition with the National Congress Party of the deposed President Omer al-Bashir forged after the national dialogue process.

"We have decided to oppose and monitor the (upcoming transitional) government so as not to lead us to a new dictatorship," said Idriss Suleiman, the PCP political secretary in statements to Sudan Tribune on Tuesday.

Suleiman statements come six days after a press conference held by PCP leader to reject the formation of the new government after the appointment of Abdallah Hamdok as prime minister.

Al-Haj who had rejected calls by the PCP youth to join the revolution said the country would be ruled by a military government that will further isolate Sudan externally and maintains it on the list of terrorism.

He further said that some members of the transitional government are wanted for war crimes and will reach out to the International Criminal Court to investigate their alleged crimes.

Suleiman, for his part, accused certain FFC groups and some military leaders of excluding them and preparing a constitutional document on improper grounds.

"The constitutional document has not been shown to the public. The constitution is made by the people, but they even have not consulted some components of the Forces of Freedom and Change," he said about the Constitutional Declaration negotiated during four months by the FFC and the junta.

Suleiman reiterated that his party and other forces will not recognize the constitutional document and "will tear it up".

"We will strive to restore power to the people and hold free and fair elections," he added.

The PCP and its allies call for elections within a period not exceeding one year as they say that the formation of a government for more than three years without a popular mandate would lead the country to serious troubles.

During the strife between the FFC and the military junta after the attack on the pro-democracy sit-in in Khartoum, the PCP voiced its support for the Juna and had been approached by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo Hemetti who at the time called to include the PCP and its allied political groups in the transitional parliament and government.

However, after the increase of popular pressure and the huge nationwide protest of 30 June, the military council abandoned this plan and worked with the FFC to finalize the transitional constitution and the formation of the transitional authority.

IRGC kills two members of a Kurdish opposition group in western Iran
[Rudaw] Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Wednesday to have killed two Kurdish opposition group fighters in a clash in west of the country in response to the liquidation of a prominent local Guard member, as the IRGC launched a major operation near the Ottoman Turkish border to clear the area of the remnants of the Kurdish opposition groups.

Khaled Shwani, a Kurdish member of an IRGC-attached paramilitary group known as the Basij, was bumped off in his vehicle in the city of Piranshahr, West Azerbaijan province on Monday, according to the Hamza Sayyid al-Shuhada command center of the IRGC, responsible for parts of the Kurdish areas of Iran.

Forces tracked down the members of the "treacherous Democrats" responsible for his liquidation to a village near Sardasht on Tuesday, where a clash ensued, the command center’s statement today.

"During the clash, the two bully boyz responsible for the killing of the Basiji Khaled Shwani were killed and the third person who was their contact to get them out of the country was maimed and detained," the Guard statement said.

Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
(KDP-Iran), an opposition group based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, confirmed in a Wednesday statement that a clash took place in the village of Qalarash, near Sardasht.

Two of its active members "were martyred and a resident of the village was badly maimed in the attack," the KDP-I statement said.

Hasan Qaderzadeh, a spokesperson for the KDP-Iran, told Rudaw English their forces were not responsible for the Basiji’s liquidation. He did, however, claim that Shwani was bumped off by "revolutionaries in Rojhelat," in reference to those fighting in Kurdish areas of Iran.

"Our people take Dire Revenge on mercenaries...working for the state and against our people," he said.

Tuesday’s festivities are the latest in a series of deadly confrontations between the IRGC and Kurdish opposition groups in western Iran.

Three Kurdish IRGC members were shot in early July in Piranshahr, while a June 24 clash in Chaldoran, West Azerbaijan saw one opposition fighter killed, two maimed and a fourth captured.

In response to these incidents, the Guard launched a major operation on Wednesday in Maku, near the Ottoman Turkish border, to clear the area of Kurdish opposition groups.

"The security of the border areas of the country is very important to us and we will stand against any move that endangers the security of the borders of the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran," head of the IRGC's ground forces Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour said on Wednesday.

Fighting in Kurdish areas of the country has been a domestic thorn in the side of Iran, contending with tense foreign relations over its use of nuclear energy and its backing of proxy groups in the Middle East.

Russian and Syrian jets strike Turkish observation post in Hama
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Russian and Syrian air forces carried out more than 15 Arclight airstrike

and the Ottoman Turkish-backed National Liberation Army.

According to a military source in the Hama Governorate, at one point, a Russian or Syrian jet struck the Ottoman Turkish observation post in the town of Sheir Magher.

The source said the airstrike only hit the walls of the observation post, but it was enough to raise the Ottoman Turkish military’s security level in the Sheir Magher area of the Hama Governorate.

No one was maimed or killed as a result of this strike; however, the Russian Armed Forces will likely receive a complaint from their Ottoman Turkish partners after their walls were hit.

Amnesty Says Lebanon 'Forcibly Deported' Nearly 2,500 Syrian Refugees
The war is practically over, guys. Go home and let your own government take care of you.
[AnNahar] Leb has "forcibly deported" nearly 2,500 Syrian refugees back to their war-torn homeland since May, Amnesia Amnesty International said Tuesday, calling on authorities to end the expulsions.

Amnesty cited data from Leb's General Security agency and the Lebanese government showing that some 2,447 Syrians had been expelled between mid-May and August 9, the rights group said in a statement.
"Git!"
General Security on May 13 started implementing an order from Leb's Higher Defense Council to deport refugees who had entered the country illegally after April 2019, it said.

It was not immediately clear whether all those expelled had entered illegally.

"We urge the Lebanese authorities to stop these deportations as a matter of urgency," said Amnesty's Middle East Research Director, Lynn Maalouf.

Any attempt to forcibly return refugees is "a clear violation of Leb's non-refoulement obligations," she said.

Non-refoulement is a principle of international law that bars governments from deporting people to countries where they would face persecution.

The Mediterranean country of around 4.5 million people says it hosts some 1.5 million Syrians, of which nearly a million are U.N.-registered refugees.
So 25% of your population are illegals or displaced Syrians? Get em out!
Lebanese politicians routinely blame the country's economic and other woes on Syrian refugees and the government has ratcheted up the pressure to send them back.

Rights groups have decried measures to make the lives of refugees increasingly difficult.

Since June, more than 3,600 Syrian families have seen their shelters demolished in the eastern region of Arsal, according to local authorities.

Homes made of anything other than timber and plastic sheeting are not allowed.

Earlier this month, the army destroyed a further 350 structures in the north of the country and arrested dozens of people for lacking residency documents, humanitarian groups said.

The labor ministry, meanwhile, is cracking down on foreign workers without a permit, a move activists say largely targets Syrians.

Turkey mulls acquiring Russian electronic warfare systems, fighter jets
[ALMASDARNEWS] Moscow and Ankara are in talks on the delivery of Russian electronic warfare systems, as well as the Sukhoi Su-35 and Su-57 fighter jets to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
, head of Russia’s Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugayev told news hounds on the sidelines of the MAKS 2019 International Aviation and Space Salon.

"Today’s talks with my Ottoman Turkish counterpart, head of Turkey’s Defense Industry Directorate Ismail Demir, will definitely be important. We will continue to discuss issues on our agenda, which concern the S-400 systems, we will also move forward in relation to the Su-35 and the possible delivery of the Su-57," he said.

According to Shugayev, Ankara is interested in purchasing Russian aircraft in light of Turkey’s suspension from the F-35 program. "We know that Turkey and the US have arrived at an impasse as far as the F-35 planes are concerned, so there is a great interest in our aircraft. It is too early to speak about talks on specific contracts, there have been no requests. As usual, we need to hold consultations first," he pointed out.

"In addition, possible deliveries and cooperation in the electronic warfare field are also on the agenda," Shugayev added.

Shugayev also said that Russia and Turkey are ready to discuss a project for creating Turkey’s fifth generation fighter plane TFX.

"You know well enough they have the TFX project. We are prepared to discuss this project with them within the framework of industrial cooperation as such. The more so, since the two leaders said yesterday that industrial and technological cooperation is possible and desirable. Our country and our industry are ready in principle," Shugayev said.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan considering closure of land routes for Indo-Afghan trade, airspace closure for India
[KhaamaPress] The government of Pakistain is considering the closure of land routes for Indo-Afghan trade besides closing the airspace for India.

Pakistain’s Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday announced regarding the intentions of Islamabad amid growing tensions with New Delhi.

Chaudhry said in a Twitter post "PM is considering a complete closure of Air Space to India."

Furthermore, Chaudhry said "A complete ban on use of Pakistain Land routes for Indian trade to Afghanistan was also suggested in cabinet meeting."

He also added that "Legal formalities for these decisions are under consideration."

Tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi escalated after India scrapped the Article 370, revoking the Special Status granted to Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain.

#1  We're coming to a closed room debate in Delhi on whether to initiate a POK Re-possession Plan, and when. The return of a Republican presidency in America is one important factor. The closing or continued attacks on our trade routes was another factor these idiots have clarified now. Although India's trade with the middle east does not depend on land routes, it's a good excuse to press for re-acquiring Gilgit-Baltistan.

If re-possession begins, there will likely be a war, China will have to protect the Aksai-chin. It might turn ugly, but now is the time if ever.

The operation gains were announced by the Iraqi Security Media Cell, a communications organization in the Iraqi Ministry of Defense, on Tuesday night.

"This operation was to compliment the results achieved in the past three stages in sweeping and clearing, and in establishing stability and destroying the remnants of the terrorist ISIS gangs," the Cell said, using the Arabic acronym of ISIS.

"Our joint armed security forces will continue its operations and chasing all who allow themselves to tamper with the security of the people," the statement added.

Will of Victory was launched on July 7, aiming to eradicate what remains of ISIS with the backing of the US-led international coalition’s air power.

The operation has been collaboratively conducted by the Iraqi Army, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF, known in Arabic as Hashd al-Shaabi), federal police and the US-led coalition, among others.

Its fourth phase was initiated on Saturday under the direct supervision of Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi. Four ISIS forces of Evil were killed in the first day of operations; two by Arclight airstrike

The PMF announced the killing of another ISIS Death Eater in this operation phase and the arrests of seven others in a statement released yesterday.

Stacey 'Boxcar' Abrams says she won't run for Georgia Senate seat
[The Hill] Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams on Wednesday ruled out running for the Senate next year following news that Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) would retire.
Abrams won't run, but former Georgia, US Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (graphic) may.
"Our thoughts are with Senator Isakson and his family. Leader Abrams' focus will not change: she will lead voter protection efforts in key states across the country, and make sure Democrats are successful in Georgia in 2020," an Abrams spokesman said in a statement.

"While she will not be a candidate herself, she is committed to helping Democratic candidates win both Senate races next year."

A special election will be held next year to fill the seat being vacated by Isakson, 74, who said earlier Wednesday he would retire at the end of 2019, citing health issues.

Isakson's announcement sparked immediate talk that Democrats would try to get Abrams, who lost the state's 2018 gubernatorial race, to run for Isakson's seat in the special election.

The special election will be held to fill the remaining two years of Isakson’s term during the next regularly scheduled election, meaning Georgia voters will cast ballots for both of the state's Senate seats in 2020, when Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) is also up for reelection.
