Given the 'awkwardness' of getting it dealer-serviced, maybe they should make it relatively easy for non-dealers to service. That would convert a weakness to a strength, since the competition now mainly has to be dealer serviced (and that service is not very good.) (Of course even non-dealers are now having problems finding good mechanics.)

The diesel and gas engine CAT vehicles sound promising. The EVs (CAT as well as other manufacturers) have their own problems with limited reharging stations, service problems, expensive batteries and limited ranges. The federal government has meddled far too much in the automotive business with their green agendas.

Walmart is doing OK. The company's best profit margin comes from major home improvement projects, e.g., updated kitchen.
A lot of these kinds of projects are funded by home refinancing which is not very good to do now because of the interest rates. Eventually, these projects will likely be done if interest rates go down.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have not been able to achieve significant progress since the attack on the Kursk region, German journalist Julian Repke said on the social network H.
“Three weeks after the start of the Ukrainian offensive operation in the Kursk region, we returned to where we were on August 5,” he wrote.
Repke added that he could not find any good news about the Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes in the area.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A group of as many as 20 migrants tried to board school busus filled with kids in southern California, according to officials.
The migrants attempted to board buses along two school routes twice this week at the stop near Highway 94 and Cochera, per the Jamul-Dulzura Union School District in San Diego County.
Superintendent Liz Bystedt said in a letter to parents that on Tuesday three migrants were walking in the middle of the highway, trying to stop one of the district's school buses and forcing it to go around the group.
Then on Wednesday morning, about 20 migrants rushed at one bus as it was picking up students from the same stop.
Parents who were present say they helped the bus driver ensure that none of the migrants boarded the bus, as reported by Fox5 San Diego.
Nicole Cardinale told Fox 5 her eight-year-old son's school bus was one of the ones affected this week, describing the incident as 'really scary.'
'He said these adults - they weren't kids - had backpacks on and they were trying to get on [his bus]... He said there was a lot of them.
Bystedt has announced that buses will now skip stops with migrants nearby, heading to the next one on the route, for 'the safety of students and bus drivers.'
'Please stay [vigilant] and if the bus drives by, please follow the bus to pick up your child at the next stop,' the superintendent told parents.
It's unclear why the migrants tried to board the buses, but migrant advocate Pedro Rios told Fox 5 that the heat and mountainous terrain in the area can drive a desperate response.
The school district reported the incident to US patrol, California Highway Patrol and the San Diego's Sheriff's office.
San Diego became the busiest corridor for illegal crossings in April, according to U.S. figures, the fifth region to hold that distinction in two years in a sign of how quickly migration routes are changing.
Many migrants say San Diego is the easiest and least dangerous place to cross. They constantly check their phones for messages, social media posts and voice calls that help them plan their route and crossing.
San Diego’s draw lies in part because Tijuana is the largest city on the Mexican side of the border, U.S. officials say. The parents were told if there are "migrants" at the bus stop the bus will not stop and to take their children to the next bus stop. In other words, they are on their own. California won't do anything.

She will now serve as an inspector, down one rank from her old position, officials said. She will also be required to reapply to the rank of superintendent after 24 months, after pleading guilty to professional misconduct last year.
Outside the agency's headquarters, Clarke said she planned to take time with her 17-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son to process the decision.
She ascended to the post in 2020, following stints in the agency's homicide and divisional policing units. She was the focus of an investigation after giving out confidential information to six black constables before their promotional interviews.

The Biden administration on Thursday announced that it is restarting a controversial parole policy that allows tens of thousands of migrants into the United States each month – after it was put on hold last month after revelations about significant amounts of fraud within part of the program.
The Department of Homeland Security said it is resuming the parole processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans (CHNV) after it "incorporated additional vetting of U.S.-based supporters to strengthen the integrity of the processes."
"With these updated procedures in place, DHS is resuming the issuance of new Advance Travel Authorizations and will closely monitor how this new process is operating moving forward," a spokesperson said.
Fox News Digital first reported this month that the administration paused the issuing of advance travel authorizations in July for the program, which allows 30,000 nationals from those countries to travel into the U.S. each month and enter legally under the administration's use of parole since early 2023.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed to Fox News Digital at the time that "out of an abundance of caution" it has stopped issuing the authorizations and that it takes abuse of processes very seriously.
The pause came after an internal report, parts of which have been made public by the Federation of American Immigration Reform, found that 100,948 forms were filled out by 3,218 serial sponsors – those whose number appears on 20 or more forms.
It also found that 24 of the 1,000 most used numbers belonged to a dead person. Meanwhile, 100 physical addresses were used between 124 and 739 times on over 19,000 forms. Those addresses included storage units. The focus is on issues with supporter filings, and not with the filings from the beneficiaries of the program themselves.
On Thursday, DHS said the new vetting measures include "further scrutiny of supporters’ financial records and criminal background, additional vetting to identify fraudulent supporter profiles, and bolstered review methods to identify serial filing trends." DHS will also require fingerprints from supporters.
"Together with our existing rigorous vetting of potential beneficiaries seeking to travel to the United States, these new procedures for supporters have strengthened the integrity of these processes and will help protect against exploitation of beneficiaries," the statement said.
The Biden administration has claimed the expanded use of parole processes has led to a drop in illegal border crossings, including a 98% decrease from CHNV nationals compared to December 2022.
But Republicans have slammed the administration’s use of parole, arguing that it represents an abuse of the parole process – which is authorized to be used on a case by case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefits.
House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., said the resumption was no surprise, despite the fraud revelations.
"The CHNV program, along with the use of the CBP One app at the Southwest border, has helped the president and his border czar play a massive shell game, encouraging otherwise-inadmissible aliens to simply cross at ports of entry instead of between them," he said in a statement. "My Committee has engaged with the department since this pause was announced, and the results were sobering. Instead of scrapping the clearly flawed program, the department is allowing it to continue without rooting out the fraud or putting adequate safeguards in place to prevent exploitation by sponsors here in the United States."

Mohammad Mofatteh, 57, the former director of the center, has been ordered to leave Germany within 14 days and faces deportation if he does not comply, the spokeswoman said.
He will not be allowed to re-enter Germany and could face up to three years in prison if he does.
Andy Grote, interior minister for the state of Hamburg, said Mofatteh's deportation was "the next logical step" against the Hamburg Islamic Center.
"As a top religious representative of the inhumane regime in Tehran, his time in Germany has come to an end," he said.
On banning the center in July, Germany's interior ministry accused it of being a "direct representative of Iran's supreme leader" and spreading Tehran's ideology "in an aggressive and bully boy manner."
The ministry also accused the center of backing the "military and political dimension" of organizations like Hezbollah.
Germany considers Hezbollah a "Shiite terrorist organization" and in 2020 banned Hezbollah from carrying out activities on its soil.

I'm afraid it's not, mossomo. Yeah, the hippie who grows his own in his back yard is not much of a problem. But it isn't just the hippie. With illegal immigration we get all kinds of bad people from all kinds of bad countries. The hippie is not a hardcore criminal but some of these people are. They're not growing their own, they're into producing mass quantities so they can make big bucks and they don't care who gets hurt.
These days you can smell burning maryhoochie wherever you go. But it doesn't smell like it used to smell in the old days. Moreover, the people who would swear that he was are the very same people who were telling us that he was sharp as a tack right up until the debate and for some time after; their word is worthless.
And then we have the pattern of conduct, the misguidance and mismanagement from the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle through the collapse of our southern border. It is not just hard, it is impossible, to identify a single thing that has gone well for the United States in between. Especially has the economy been a disaster, and not one that the smoke and mirrors of the Democratic Party and their lapdogs of the press has been very successful in hiding.
