Belmont Club: Mass Killings vs. Mass Shootings
Key bits. Interesting graphs at the link.
[PJMedia] What the current debate really seems to be about is whether rapid-fire guns increase the frequency of a special kind of crime called mass shootings. However, this is a somewhat artificial category. Mass shootings are a subset of the larger phenomenon of mass killings, sometimes referred to as rampage killings. "A rampage involves the (attempted) killing of multiple persons at least partly in public space by a single physically present perpetrator using (potentially) deadly weapons in a single event without any cooling-off period."

It is one killer, one place, one time, many victims in a setting outside of war. The data collected on this type of even notes the type of weapon used, which is not always a firearm. It is mass killings that one would want to reduce, not just mass shootings.

What differentiates rampage killings from regular homicide is they were (and still are) by comparison extremely rare. Wikipedia lists only 1,850 incidents worldwide in recorded history, which is very small compared to the number of ordinary homicides. While the record probably leaves out many incidents it should be by order of magnitude correct at least from the 1800s. (I converted the incidents into a queryable database, excluding familicides, home intruders and the "other" category to obtain the following charts in a process to be described next post).

Rampage killings really start taking off after the mid-1960s. Perhaps the most surprising thing is how much of that spike comes from religious-ethnic and school shootings (which are counted separately from geographical divisions).

If general rampage killings are purely a function of weapons availability they should be reflected across the jurisdiction of those geographical areas. The fact that they spike in certain categories (religious-ethnic and schools) suggests it is higher than average in certain places due in part to the killer's efforts to act out some pathological or political message related to these settings.

Because rampage killers are rare, they may be quite different from the ordinary murderer. If the mass killer decides to commit mayhem, first the weapon selection is driven by the plan. Availability is one, but only one of the factors. The rampage data reflect the choice. While bladed weapons are less deadly than firearms, the really devastating attacks are carried out using vehicles or arson. Wikipedia has a category for these called other.

#1  Because Wretchard is looking at this in a non-emotional fashion the analysis is utterly irrelevant to the leftist gun-banners' exclusively emotional approach to the subject.

#2  Rampage killers are most comparable to what are called 'lone wolves', self-radicalized extremists with a delusion of leaving a legacy. They are terribly sick people, and can be tagged at an early age and if not cured then... adjusted. At least observed closely.

In any case, the manifestation is never sudden, like in "Falling Down". There are always markers of psychopathy or deep misanthropy. It may be later glossed over by investigators and agencies, but the truth is, there's always a list of misdemeanors or red flags in their trajectory somewhere. They may remain an inevitable by-product of our socio-political evolution as long as we don't find a legal way to surgically alter their behavior*.

But the immediate carers/guardians. The police. The prosecutors, judges, DAs. Why do they slip up, pass-by, remain apathetic to these markers ? In every case we've seen, either the police gave the perp 'a once-over' at some time, or he/they had a record of other infractions. In the El-Paso case the mother herself reported her son before he did it. There should be an accounting for this incompetence.

*
It has been seen that by regulating the amount of AVP (plasma arginine vasopressin) reaching the amygdala, violent impulses and the tendency to fly into them can be decreased (or increased for some perverse, ungodly reason) and the brain itself trained on a neurochemical level to counter the extra AVP with receptor antagonists or inhibitors. Although this has been tried only with primates and maybe exclusive residents of the Xinjiang country club, the research is promising.

#3  Also it might pay to look into the increase in the use of the stronger "pot" that started to become available in the 1960's . The stronger the pot is made. the more increases in correlation to brain damage , lung cancer, and other health problems. While correlation is not equal to causation there should be enough information to "prove" it one way or another.

Bill Clinton Wanted To Appoint A Lawmaker Caught In The Epstein Scandal To The Supreme Court
[Daily Caller] An alleged sex slave of the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein accused several powerful men of misconduct in a newly unsealed deposition, including a powerful Democratic lawmaker who turned down an appointment to the Supreme Court.

Virginia Giuffre said Epstein directed her to perform erotic massages and sexual intercourse with former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell of Maine, an elder statesmen in the Democratic Party whom former President Bill Clinton asked to succeed Justice Harry Blackmun in 1994. Mitchell denied any wrongdoing.

"I have never met, spoken with or had any contact with Ms. Giuffre," Mitchell told the Portland Press Herald. "In my contacts with Mr. Epstein I never observed or suspected any inappropriate conduct with underage girls. I only learned of his actions when they were reported in the media related to his prosecution in Florida. We have had no further contact."

Blackmun, one in a succession of Republican appointees who drifted leftward during his tenure, announced his retirement in 1994. Mitchell was the immediate favorite for the nomination ‐ even his Republican Senate colleagues predicted a swift confirmation, according to a contemporary article in The New York Times.

Mitchell held a string of legal posts before his entrée into national politics. A graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center, Mitchell was an antitrust lawyer at the Department of Justice, U.S. attorney for the District of Maine, and a federal trial judge in Bangor. He entered the Senate in 1980, filling a vacancy created when Edmund Muskie became secretary of state.

As Senate majority leader, Mitchell was the chief legislative advocate of Clinton’s health care reform efforts, which were well underway when Blackmun announced his retirement. Though the prospect of a seat on the Supreme Court was enticing, Mitchell feared the nomination would impede Clinton’s historic ‐ and ultimately quixotic ‐ bid to pass a reform package.

The senator privately conveyed that assessment to Clinton. The former president asked Mitchell to sleep on the matter, but his views remained unchanged. (RELATED: Second Amendment Looms Over Supreme Court After Back-To-Back Massacres)

‘Fast and Furious' Report a Reminder of Deliberately Unresolved Accountability
[Ammoland.com] "Fast and Furious victims speak out for first time in decade, demand justice," One America News Network reported Monday. "A lingering scandal from the Obama-era has resurfaced regarding the sale of guns to Mexican cartels."

Getting the word out and keeping this story alive is essential. With few exceptions, the major media didn’t want to touch it when it was breaking, with most either ignoring it or spinning it in such a way to minimize its significance, protect favored politicians and use it to further advance the narrative that it was ultimately the fault of "lax American gun laws."

That said, as one of the investigative writers uncovering evidence and reporting on "gunwalking" before that media had written a word, I do have some critiques in the interest of accuracy and perspective. Those of us who believe there are still many facts yet to be uncovered and people to hold accountable have a special obligation to get it right. That’s because getting it wrong allows those who want the story to go away to dismiss it as partisan politics, or worse, as "conspiracy theory," with all that implies.

My first bone to pick is the claim that this is the first time the subjects have spoken out in more than a decade. AmmoLand Shooting Sports News readers have been presented with dozens of stories featuring Kent Terry, brother of slain Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. This is the site that reported on then-candidate Donald Trump promising he would get to the bottom of things, and readers here have received numerous updates on the Freedom of Information Act request and lawsuit necessitated by continued government stonewalling and evasiveness in which Terry and I are plaintiffs.

Shark Tank's Kevin O'Leary Explains Why Trump Will Win In 2020.
[Chicks on the Right] Some highlights:

"Great politicians, great leaders, great CEOs are phenomenal entertainers. Going back to the days of Alexander the Great, Napoleon, and Bismarck, they used to hold council at night, have big dinner parties or sit around the fire with their men and tell stories. They would tell stories of great defeats, great battles, great loves, and that would spread through the troops...and it would capture the hearts and minds of the people. Donald Trump is exactly that. He is a great entertainer."

"I have never in my life seen an economy like this. This is even better than the ’60s. It is phenomenal. And I think [it’s] primarily because of deregulation, not tax reform. My companies in California, in Texas, in Florida, in Illinois...have been set free."

When he gives examples of some of that de-regulation? It just makes you realize how DUMB so many of the regulations government puts in place ARE. Holy crap.

"The chance he doesn’t get a second term is zero," he said, about Trump’s re-election campaign. "And I’ll tell you why. I don’t recall in modern times when going into a second term at full employment, the incumbent of any party has ever lost their mandate ever."

He also talks about Trump’s style, and how to so many Americans it’s off-putting, but explains also why it doesn’t matter when it comes to him getting re-elected. And the discussion about socialism’s rise in popularity is FASCINATING. I love that O’Leary talks about he himself was a socialist in his youth.

And the story about how Trump played Canada in the trade war with China? OMG. You gotta listen to that at the 25.25 mark.

Anyway, the whole thing is worth your time.

Discuss.

Former MCC Inmate: ‘There's No Way That Man [Epstein] Could Have Killed Himself'
[Red State] A former inmate who had been incarcerated for several months in the same part of the Metropolitan Correctional Center as Jeffrey Epstein spoke to New York Post reporters Brad Hamilton and Bruce Golding on Saturday. This area, called the 9 South special housing unit, was reserved for "high-profile prisoners awaiting trial."

To be sure, we will hear more than a few conspiracy theories surrounding Epstein’s death in the coming weeks, but I thought I would share this man’s story because he had once been an "insider."

This man, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, does not believe Epstein killed himself. And, in his own words, he explains his reasons below:

"There’s no way that man could have killed himself. I’ve done too much time in those units. It’s an impossibility.

Between the floor and the ceiling is like eight or nine feet. There’s no way for you to connect to anything.

You have sheets, but they’re paper level, not strong enough. He was 200 pounds ‐ it would never happen.

When you’re on suicide watch (see note below), they put you in this white smock, a straight jacket. They know a person cannot be injurious to themselves.

The clothing they give you is a jump-in uniform. Everything is a dark brown color.

Could he have done it from the bed? No sir. There’s a steel frame, but you can’t move it. There’s no light fixture. There’s no bars.

They don’t give you enough in there that could successfully create an instrument of death. You want to write a letter, they give you rubber pens and maybe once a week a piece of paper.

#4  Petrushka nailed it. The girls are a sideshow. Epstein was a blackmailer. We need to see those videos of his to know whom he was blackmailing.

It has to be someone in a position to divert hundreds of millions to him, someone with connections to the DOJ and FBI, probably also to the Clinton Foundation.
Posted by: Lex || 08/12/2019 9:02 Comments || Top||

#5  Markers:
- net worth of at least $100 million
- repeat donor (or bundler) to both the Clinton Foundation and New York Democratic politicians
- connected by one or two degrees to the former Bear Stearns firm's top execs during the 1980s and 1990s, when Epstein mysteriously emerged from obscurity
- frequent traveler to either the Caribbean or New Mexico or both places
- very sophisticated in the world of offshore banking, large-scale money transferring, tax evasion structures.

All of the above criteria, if applied, would probably narrow the field of suspects down to a few dozen super-wealthy Wall Street or Manhattan-based men in their 70s or 80s.

Shouldn't be too hard to find Epstein's marks.

#7  Blackmail makes about zero practical sense. People don't get to be billionaires, millionaires, or even got-enough-aires by being soft and most of them take it rather amiss when somebody wants to forcibly take something from them. Perhaps not all of his play mates, but certainly no small number would have taken him for a 1 way ocean trip at the first suggestion.

#8  He had videocams all over every one of his playrooms. Court docs attest that his safes were / are full of homemade videos, in many cases labeled painstakingly with details, dates, etc.

He has access to hundreds of millions in cash flow, yet he has no company, no real profession. His "hedge fund manager" ruse was a complete joke: no trading desk ever did any dbusiness with him, he had no trading strategies to speak of. You can't manage a billion dollars without doing lots of big trades with known counterparties. Not possible.

The man was obviously blackmailing super-wealthy people with those homemade videotapes.

De Blasio Violated The Rules By Making Cops Help His Daughter Move
[Hot Air] Hey, did you hear that New York City Mayor (and 2020 presidential candidate) Bill de Blasio’s daughter Chiara got herself a new place to live in the Big Apple? She’s taken up residence with her parents at Gracie Mansion. Good for her. The real estate market there is a real bear. But if you didn’t hear about it, that might be because she moved out in the dead of night. And she had plenty of help with the move, coming in the form of some of Hizzoner’s personal security detail from the NYPD.

As you might imagine, dispatching some of New York’s finest to go carry your daughter’s couch up to her new room is not only frowned upon but is strictly barred under New York ethical conduct rules. The New York Daily News explains.

Both the Mayor and the police have an explanation for why this happened, neither of which looks terribly convincing. De Blasio is saying that it’s not a violation because the cops "volunteered" to do it. First of all, even if that’s true, when your boss also happens to be the Mayor (and in charge of the police) and "suggests" his daughter needs some help, are you inclined to say no? And even if they cheerfully volunteered to do so without being asked, as explained in the excerpt above, you can’t use a city resource (the police, in this case) for a non-city purpose. They also saved money by not having to pay movers, so that could be considered a "private gain."

FBI investigating Epstein death in Manhattan jail
[The Hill] The FBI signaled it is investigating the death of disgraced billionaire Jeffrey Epstein after he was discovered dead in his Manhattan jail cell due to an "apparent suicide."

The U.S. Bureau of Prisons said in a news release Saturday that the FBI would investigate the apparent suicide.

Authorities said Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell early Saturday morning. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and he was pronounced dead there, officials said.

Several lawmakers have called for answers in Epstein's death after he was reportedly put on suicide watch in late July following a possible suicide attempt, when he was discovered unconscious in his cell with marks around his neck.

The Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), where Epstein was being held, did not immediately return The Hill's request Saturday for clarification about Epstein's suicide watch.

The headmaster until June of that year was Donald Barr -- father of AG William Barr, and possibly the man who hired Epstein for that position.

Illinois Governor Mandates LGBT History Curriculum for Public Schools
[BREITBART] The governor of Illinois recently signed a bill that will mandate public schools in the state teach LGBT history, beginning next year. The new legislation will require schools to incorporate "a study of the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people" as part of the American history curriculum.

Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker (D) signed House Bill 246 into law on Friday, which will require schools to incorporate LGBT history in American history courses. The law mandates that all publicly funded schools in Illinois include "the roles and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the history of this country and this State" in official textbooks.

"Each public school district and State-recognized, non-public school shall, subject to appropriations for that purpose, receive a per-pupil grant for the purchase of secular and non-discriminatory textbooks," reads the text of the legislation.

#3  They want to expand that demographic, Chris. The need is implicit in their + at the end of LGBTQA. They feel the more takers for this lifestyle, the more justifiable and normalized it gets.

In basic psychology we learned that homosexuality and related deviance originated from narcissism and was an illness. Academics today scoff at the 'notion'. These same academics studied Freud and Adler to get to where they are today, and conveniently refuted obvious truths when faced with the realities of tenure and promotion in their trade, because those were held in the hands of politicians and bureaucrats sold out to powerful lobbyists with the nefarious aim of weakening the republic over time. By straining the integrity out of it's citizens, leaving them amorphous and confused with their reality slipping from their fingers like sand.

Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat...

Remember the rise of the "You-are-not-to-blame" psychiatry ? The self-help books that aim at unleashing your potential by just worshiping your vapid self ? What was it but a systematized way of imbibing increasingly narcissistic traits, generation after generation ? The 'selfie' was the cherry on top, what ultimately broke the camel's arse back. Thus came the acceptance of pan-sexuality and wanton paraphilia as 'choices' and then 'birthrights'.

This plans to go somewhere. It plans to go to the ugly realm of acceptance of child rape and indecent abuse, touted by academics as birth defects and natural diversity that must be accommodated. It wants to establish a tacit understanding for judges, prosecutors, media... it wishes to enter the very laws of the land.

So that the days of Sodom can be brought back, when a crowd of people shall rightfully demand that you hand over your kids to be abused, and you have no choice but to comply and forget.

Six Shot in Less than Two Hours in Gun-Controlled Baltimore
[BREITBART] Six people were shot in less than two hours late Friday night to early Saturday morning in heavily gun-controlled Baltimore, Maryland.

WBALTV reports that the first of the shooting incidents occurred around 11:18 p.m. Friday and the last occurred around 1:00 a.m. Saturday.

The 11:18 p.m. incident resulted in a 34-year-old being shot, and the 1:00 a.m. incident resulted in a 37-year-old man being shot.

At 11:43 p.m., three people‐a 31-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old boy‐were all shot and left with non-life-threatening injuries.

Additionally, a 32-year-old man was treated for gunshot wounds around midnight.

On July 29, 2019, Breitbart News reported that Baltimore is on track to top 300 homicides for the fifth consecutive year.

Baltimore, like all of Maryland, has a ban on "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines. It also has a registration/fingerprint requirement for would-be purchasers of new handguns.

Hong Kong police fire tear gas during cat-and-mouse encounters
[DAWN] Hong Kong police fired volleys of tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters on Saturday ‐ sending tourists fleeing weeping in Kowloon ‐ only for demonstrators to regroup and gather elsewhere during another tense, hot and restive weekend.

Weeks of increasingly violent protests have plunged Hong Kong into its biggest political crisis for decades, posing a serious challenge to the central government in Beijing.

On Saturday activists rallied across the city, with thousands thronging the airport arrivals hall for a second day, while elsewhere police displayed a new willingness to quickly and forcibly clear them from the streets.

That became a cat-and-mouse chase with demonstrators late into the summer night.

Tear gas was used with little warning not long after several hundred activists who had marched through Tai Po in the north of the territory had barricaded an intersection in the Tai Wai neighbourhood.

They dispersed, as noxious smoke also filled the train station there, bringing train passengers to tears.

Then demonstrators popped up again in Kowloon, a large urban district on the mainland side of Hong Kong’s harbour, only for police to fire another volley of gas from Tsim Sha Tsui cop shoppe, sending nearby tourists running with welling tears.

Luxury shops were caught up in the stand-off, with some shoppers even taking pictures of riot police.

Syrian Army captures Al-Hobeit town inside of southwestern Idlib
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has imposed full control over the town of al-Hobeit in southwestern Idlib after a fierce battle with the murderous Moslem forces this morning.

The battle for al-Hobeit began last night when the Tiger Forces began seizing the last few villages and farms located west of the town.

According to reports from this front, the Syrian Army managed to kill a large number of murderous Moslems from Jaish al-Izza and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
en route to capturing the town.

With al-Hobeit under their control, the Syrian Arab Army can begin pushing deeper into the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate.

Al Gore on Impeachment: There Appears to Be ‘Credible Allegations That Crimes Were Committed’
True. But amusingly, none of them by Donald Trump.
[BREITBART] Sunday on ABC’s "This Week," former Vice President Al Gore
Former Vice President, Nobel Prize winner, and crazed sex poodle Al Gore
said the impeachment of President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
might become necessary because it appears "credible allegations that crimes were committed."

Gore said, "My own view is that not seeking accountability for what appear to be credible allegations that crimes were committed, meaningful crimes, runs the risk of normalizing that behavior. I think what’s going on now with Chairman Nadler is the right course of action and that is to gather evidence and begin an inquiry to see what other evidence is available and then make that decision to go forward when the time comes."

Much worse than a gaffe: Biden boasts of a fantasy meeting that couldn’t have happened
[AMERICANTHINKER] Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Failed seeker of the Democratic presidential nomination on multiple occasions, vice president under Barack Obama, giving it a last try in his dotage for 2020...
’s mental state has so seriously deteriorated that he cannot separate fantasy and reality. That makes him too dangerous to be considered as a possible President of the United States. That is the only conclusion possible in the wake of what is incorrectly being characterized as a "gaffe." Emma Kinery reports for Bloomberg:

Joe Biden said he was vice president when the deadly high school shooting in Parkland, Florida, took place. Except, it happened in 2018, more than a year after he left office -- the latest gaffe by the Democratic presidential front-runner.

On its own, this could be put down as bad memory, an understandable mistake in chronology, especially in someone well into his seventies. But Biden went on to claim:

"...those kids in Parkland came up to see me when I was vice president." But when they visited Capitol Hill to talk with members of Congress, politicians were "basically cowering, not wanting to see them. They did not want to face it on camera."

The kids could not have seen him in the Vice President’s Capitol office ‐ as presiding officer of the Senate ‐ since Biden was no longer the occupant of that office.

Principal ousted from out-of-control high school where kids threatened staff
[NYPOST] The principal of a Brooklyn high school where out-of-control kids threatened and injured staffers has been removed, The Post has learned.

Sybil Girard, interim acting head of It Takes a Village Academy in Flatbush, will not return in September, but will start a new job as an assistant principal ‐ with lesser pay ‐ at a school nearby, the city Department of Education confirmed.

"Everyone is so relieved," said a teacher at ITAVA. "There are tears of joy, literally, among the remaining staff. A lot of good people have left because of her."

Girard is now under investigation for allegedly firing five teachers who openly wrote letters of complaints, the DOE confirmed.

Among horrific incidents at the school, which reeked of pot, one teacher found a note warning, "I KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE BITCH!" with her home address obtained by a kid who gained access to an office computer.

A school safety agent trying to break up a fight fell and broke his arm. A pregnant paraprofessional who asked a student not to shove her was told by the girl: ’I will f‐k you up."

Besides safety concerns, teachers said Girard let the once highly regarded school slide academically.

The school’s robotics team fell by the wayside. Teachers who left were not replaced. Not a single student graduated this year with an advanced Regents diploma, because the required courses in math, science and Spanish were dropped.

In June, the frustrated faculty took a vote of no-confidence in Girard, with 48 of 63 staffers approving it.

Girard, who was never made permanent because of ongoing probes, reverted back to assistant principal, her salary dropping from $164,196 to $138,518. She will join the Academy for College Preparation and Career Exploration, officials said.

Angelo Marra, who was assigned to supervise Girard, will serve as acting principal ‐ a move that pleased the staff, a teacher said.

Teachers praised Executive Superintendent Barbara Freeman for finally removing Girard after letters to Brooklyn South high school superintendent Michael Prayor, begging for intervention, went nowhere.

DOE front man Will Mantell said, "We thank Sybil Girard for her service at It Takes A Village Academy, and the Superintendent and Acting Principal Angelo Marra will ensure a smooth transition and strong start to the school year. We’ll work closely with the community as we identify a new permanent leader of the school."

Muslims clash with Israeli police at Jerusalem holy site
[BREITBART] Moslem worshippers and Israeli police clashed Sunday at a major Jerusalem holy site during prayers marking the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha.
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
Paleostinian medics said at least 14 people were maimed, one seriously, in the skirmishes with police at the site, which Moslems refer to as the al-Aqsa mosque compound and Jews refer to as the Temple Mount. Police said at least four officers were maimed. Witnesses said at least two people were arrested.

Tens of thousands of Moslems had flocked to the site in Jerusalem’s Old City early Sunday for holiday prayers, police said. Jews are also observing on Sunday the Ninth of Av, a day of fasting and mourning for the destruction of the two Biblical temples which stood at the site in antiquity.

The site is the holiest for Jews and the third holiest for Moslems, after Mecca and Medina in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, and has long been a flashpoint at the epicenter of the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict.

Large numbers of Paleostinians had gathered at the gates of the compound early Sunday after rumors circulated that police would allow Jewish visitors to enter the site. The protesters chanted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) and threw stones at police, who then charged into the compound while firing stun grenades and rubber-coated bullets.

Israeli police had initially barred entry to Jewish visitors, but reversed their decision after the festivities broke out and allowed them to enter. Several dozen entered the site under close police escort and Moslem worshippers began throwing chairs and other objects at the group. The Jewish visitors left the compound shortly thereafter.

The reversal came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s religious nationalist allies called for the site to be opened to Jewish visitors. Israelis are headed to unprecedented repeat elections next month after Netanyahu failed to form a government following April’s elections.
Some hours later:
Jordan, usual suspects blast Israel for using force in Temple Mount clashes

[IsraelTimes] Jordan has managed Al-Aqsa for decades, a role that Israel recognized in its peace treaty with the Hashemite kingdom in 1994.
I was wrong in thinking the treaty dated back to 1967. Now I know better.
At least 61 Muslim worshipers were injured in the clashes, according to the Red Crescent. At least four Israeli officers were also lightly to moderately wounded, police said.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan’s office said on Sunday that 1,729 Jews had entered the Temple Mount earlier in the day, compared with 1,440 last year on Tisha B’Av.

Israel rejects Jordan’s criticism over Temple Mount clashes, blames Waqf: report
It’s a cold peace...
[IsraelTimes] Israel has reportedly reacted with outrage following scathing Jordanian criticism of Jerusalem’s handling of events this morning at the Temple Mount, when police officers clashed with Palestinian rioters who tried to prevent Jews from accessing the holy site on the fast day of Tisha B’Av, which coincided this year with the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha.

The Kan public broadcaster says Israel has reacted by placing the blame on the Jordan-run Islamic Waqf, which oversees the site, saying it took deliberate action to have Muslim worshipers entrench themselves inside the compound and stay there long enough to prevent Jews from entering.

The report did not cite a source or specify who in Israel made the rebuke or if and how it was conveyed to Amman.

Muslim authorities have openly admitted that they delayed the start of morning prayers and closed all other mosques in Jerusalem in order to maximize attendance at the Al-Aqsa Mosque at the Temple Mount — with the stated goal of preventing Jews from entering.

Iraq ends third phase of ‘Will of Victory’ campaign
[Rudaw] The third phase of Iraq’s "Will of Victory" operation aimed at defeating Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) remnants concluded Friday, the Iraqi military’s top front man told Rudaw English.

"The third phase of the Will of Victory operation that was conducted by different units and forces of the Iraqi military forces ended on Friday," Iraqi Security Media Cell front man Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasoul told Rudaw.

Launched on August 5, the third phase of Will of Victory sought to clear areas in the Diyala and Nineveh provinces from ISIS.

Iraqi forces cleared 25 villages in a 1,702 kilometer square area in the Diyala province during the operation’s third phase. The forces detained 18 ISIS fighters and killed four others, according to an Iraqi Security Media Cell statement.
The operation was a collaboration between various domestic forces, including the Baghdad Operations Command, federal police, the army, intelligence services, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU), counter terrorism units and the air force, as well as the US-led international coalition, according to Iraq’s Ministry of Defense.

Iraqi forces cleared 25 villages in a 1,702 kilometer square area in the Diyala province during the operation’s third phase. The forces detained 18 ISIS fighters and killed four others, according to an Iraqi Security Media Cell statement.

The forces further destroyed 12 tunnels and 24 dens that ISIS bandidos murderous Moslems were using in the Diyala province to hide in, and seized 42 bombs and six mortar rounds, also according to the statement.

Rasoul said the overall operation is not over.

"The operation of Will of Victory is a continuous operation to combat ISIS remnants and sleeper cells in different areas in Iraq," he told Rudaw. "The fourth phase of Will of Victory operation will be announced soon."

The start date and areas of focus of the fourth phase will be determined by the prime minister, according to Rasoul.

UAE-backed forces expel Saudi-backed troops from Yemeni Presidential Palace
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Southern Transitional Council has captured the Maashiq presidential palace in the southern port city of Aden, a military source told Sputnik.

"The Security Belt Forces, supported by loyal forces, established control over the presidential palace after four days of fighting with its guards", the source said.

He pointed out that the Saudi forces had retreated from the palace to the coalition’s military base of al Barika, west of Aden.

Yemeni Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammed Hadrami has described the incident as a coup.

The reports come after at least 30 people were reportedly killed during festivities inside a camp of security forces of the presidential palace in Aden. The ongoing escalation of the conflict left dozens killed and injured in three days. Moreover, media outlets point to the possibility of a new front opening in Yemen’s civil war.

Earlier this week, bandidos snuffies supporting the Southern Transitional Council engaged in festivities with their former allies, pro-government forces in the city of Aden. The Yemeni conflict between the government and the Iran's Houthi sock puppets

#6  Note also that all players in government, whether at peace or at war are members of coalitions, which is to say each component has distinct interests. As the dominant partners in these coalitions diverge from the non-negotiable interests of coalition components, the coalitions themselves may fracture. That may be what we're seeing here.

But really, they were probably just discussing finance or politix or something. While getting massaged. Then things got serious, Jeff was tossed in the slammer in New York and then he killed himself. Really. That's what happened...
apparently hanged himself in a federal lockup in Lower Manhattan, law-enforcement officials told The Post on Sunday.
Well, by golly, the government should step in and... No. Wait. This was the government, right?
Although there are cameras in the 9 South wing where the convicted pedophile was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, they are trained on the areas outside the cells and not inside, according to sources familiar with the setup there.
Wouldn't want to let this beauzeau think he was special just because he had the goods on fifty or sixty national-level bigshots, not to mention a few stars of stage and screen...
Pols who attended Sunday’s annual Dominican Day Parade in Manhattan demanded answers to the many questions surrounding Epstein’s Saturday morning death, which is being investigated by the FBI and the Justice Department.
"Yeah! We demand answers!"
"Something doesn’t smell right ‐ and it’s not his dead body," Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said.
"Now that he's dead, we'll never get to the bottom of this, will we?"
Adams noted the July 23 incident in which the multimillionaire financier was found nearly unconscious in his cell with marks on his neck, as well as the blockbuster court papers that were released on Friday and contained the names of other men ‐ including former Maine Sen. George Mitchell and ex-New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson ‐ who allegedly slept with an Epstein teenage "sex slave."
"Guards! Guards! Somebody just tried to kill me! I've been unconscious! Look at the marks on my neck!"
"Yeah, yeah. We'll... ummm... investigate."

"Something is really troubling about that and I think it needs to be investigated extremely and very thoroughly to make sure there wasn’t any foul play," Adams said.
"Legume! My clarinet! I must get to the bottom of this!"
New York Attorney General Letitia James, who said she’s toured the MCC, said she found it "very difficult to understand how something like this could have happened."
"Yup. No idea."

Prison Guards Skipped Mandatory Checks Before Jeffrey Epstein’s Death

was found dead Saturday did not conduct required checks on prisoners the previous night, according to a report.
Epstein died of a suspected suicide after being found unresponsive in his Manhattan Correctional Center cell where he was being held on sex trafficking charges. At approximately 6:30 a.m., Epstein was "found unresponsive in his cell in the Special Housing Unit from an apparent suicide," the Federal Bureau of Prisons said in a news release.

Staff conducted life-saving measures and Epstein was transported by ambulance to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
He's dead, Jim!
according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Around 7:30 a.m., a gurney carrying a man who looked like Epstein was wheeled out of the jail and taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, the New York Post reported.

Epstein hanged himself while in solitary confinement. Three law enforcement sources confirmed the suicide to ABC News. NBC reported he was not on suicide watch.

"At the MCC, two jail guards are required to make separate checks on all prisoners every 30 minutes, but that procedure was not followed overnight, according to the source. In addition, every 15 minutes guards are required to make another check on prisoners who are on suicide watch," Rooters reports.

In July, Epstein was found nearly unconscious in his cell with injuries to his neck and was placed on suicide watch.

Attorney General William Barr has directed the FBI and Department of Justice inspector general to launch a full investigation into Epstein’s death.

Alleged Trafficking Victim Names Two Democrats in Jeffrey Epstein Case

’s trafficking scheme named two prominent Democrats as part of a group of men with whom she was forced to have sex, unsealed documents revealed Friday.

The more than 2,000 papers released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York allege that Virginia Giuffre, 33, claimed in May 2016 that she was trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein to have sex with and give erotic massages to several politicians, foreign leaders, and businessmen, Fox News reported.

"There’s a whole bunch of them ‐ it’s just hard for me to remember," Giuffre said, according to the documents. "My whole life revolved around just pleasing these men and keeping Ghislaine and Jeffrey happy. Their whole lives revolved around sex."

The two Democrat politicians named in the allegations were former Sen. George Mitchell (ME) and former New Mexico governor and Clinton cabinet official Bill Richardson.

Mitchell, who is a former Senate majority leader and was later named special envoy to the Middle East by former President Obama, called the allegations "false" and denied he had ever met or had any contact with Giuffre, according to reports.

A spokesperson for Richardson also said the allegations against him were "completely false," adding that "Governor Richardson has never been to Mr. Epstein’s residence in the Virgin Islands. Governor Richardson has never met Ms. Giuffre," reports stated.

Giuffre’s lawyer, David Boies, said, "It took a great deal of courage and commitment for Virginia to file her lawsuit," according to NBC News.

Reports said Epstein was charged with sex trafficking-related charges last month. But on July 24, he was reportedly found "semi-conscious with marks on his neck" in an apparent suicide attempt. Epstein was placed on suicide watch following the incident.

California city denies Straight Pride rally permit
[WASHINGTONTIMES] A Northern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, city has denied a request to hold a so-called Straight Pride rally at a park.

Modesto city officials on Friday denied an application by the National Straight Pride Coalition for an Aug. 24 event at Graceada Park.

Organizer Don Grundmann had estimated 500 people would attend. The group says it supports heterosexuality, Christianity and white contributions to Western civilization.

Opponents argued the rally would promote hatred of LGBTQ people and minorities.

City front man Thomas Reeves says the permit request was denied over safety concerns, because the group lost its liability insurance and the parks department determined the event wasn’t consistent with park use.

India promises easing of restrictions, food for occupied Kashmir residents for Eidul Azha
[DAWN] Authorities in Indian Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
e say that restrictions ‐ that had been in place since last week ‐ have been eased in most parts of Srinagar ahead of the Eidul Azha festival following India's decision to strip the region of its constitutional autonomy.

Magistrate Shahid Choudhary in a tweet says that more than 250 ATMs have been made functional and bank branches have opened for people to withdraw money ahead of Monday's Eidul Azha, that falls on Monday.

There has been no immediate independent confirmation of reports by authorities on Sunday that people are visiting shopping areas for festival purchases as all communications and the internet remain cut off.

The Kashmir Media Service, however, has reported that the curfew is still in place and the occupied region continues to face a blackout for the seventh day.

Gov Satya Pal Malik said in interviews with television networks that there would be easing of restrictions and adequate essential supplies for Monday's Eidul Azha festival.

His comments came as India's main opposition leader, Rahul Gandhi, on Saturday demanded a statement from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the situation in occupied Kashmir, saying there are reports of violence and people dying.

#7  Mercutio is spot on. I think.

Islam's origins are traced back by scholars to the ancient fertility religion of the worship of the moon god 'Hu Baal', which was the dominant religion of Arabs.

The moon god was worshiped by praying toward Mecca several times a day, making an annual pilgrimage to the Kabah which was a temple of Hubaal - running around the Kabah seven times, caressing a big granite dildo.

The animal sacrifices, friday prayers, giving alms to the poor, etc... were pagan rites that aped the Israelis in order to one-up them. Their cults all failed them every day, and they ruled their little shithole fiefdoms among themselves for centuries.

My Rant:

It was only when Jesus Christ came to be utterly rejected in person and word and spirit for seven hundred years that this ravager was formed in the desert.

A judgement against the 'progressives' of the era, and those who would rather serve whitened religious bureaucracies than accept the simplicity of Christ, and those hopelessly invested in such enterprises they chose to compromise the real Church by merging it with Roman madness, rather than give up their old religious offices.

Giving life for motherland’s defence highest sacrifice: army chief
[DAWN] Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that sacrificing life for the defence of the motherland is the highest sacrifice that one can make.

According to a blurb issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief visited the families of Lt Col Raashid Kareem Baig, Lt Col Waseem Hayat and Sepoy Ghulam Raza at their homes on Saturday. All three were martyred.

During his visit, the army chief said that remembering the country’s heroes was a source of motivation for both forces and the nation.

"We can never thank enough families of our shuhada for their great sacrifice. It’s our duty to stay connected with them and we are lifetime responsible for their well being," the statement quoted Gen Bajwa as saying.

Youth on ventilator after ‘torture by doctor’s relatives’
[DAWN] LAHORE: A young attendant of a patient had to be put on ventilator on Saturday after he was severely tortured allegedly by the relatives of a lady doctor at the emergency ward of the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here.

Identified as Mohammad Ali (20) of Samanabad, the young man had protested delay in treatment of his seriously-ill grandmother which led to an argument between him and the duty doctor witnesses told the media.

They said as the young man entered into a heated argument with the lady doctor, she called some of her relatives.

They said some eight to ten people reached the hospital’s emergency unit, attacked the young man in the presence of security guards as well as coppers.

The attackers first beat him up with iron rods in the ward and then dragged him to a room where they subjected him to brutal torture despite requests of victim’s female relatives to spare him, the witnesses said.

They said that alarmed by the situation, an attendant of another patient called the police for help.

The attackers, however, expeditiously departed at a goodly pace before the police arrived, leaving the seriously injured victim in a pool of blood.

Ali, who according to doctors, suffered serious head injuries, was later shifted to the surgical emergency of the hospital where the doctors during initial treatment referred him to the intensive care unit (ICU).

Quoting duty doctors, the relatives of the victim told the media that his condition was worsening due to his head injuries and trauma.

to resume the rallies from where his niece Maryam left.

"The opposition leader in the National Assembly agreed to the suggestion, saying the workers conventions in different cities across the country will continue and the PML-N will not be cowed by the arm-twisting tactics of the Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
government," a party insider told Dawn after the meeting.

The meeting was held in Model Town and attended by Ahsan Iqbal, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanvir Hussain, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Khurram Dastgir, Awais Leghari, Pervaiz Malik and retired Capt Safdar.

Before her arrest in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on Thursday, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz was apparently pulling large crowds in rallies across Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

and was scheduled to lead a public gathering in Muzaffarabad on Aug 15 to express solidarity with the people of India-held Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder the refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir".
There was an opinion in the meeting that Mr Sharif should lead the Muzaffarabad rally as it would serve as a perfect platform for giving a strong reply to the Modi government as well as launching a scathing attack on Prime Minister Imran Khan for, what the PML-N alleged, "selling out Kashmir".

Iraq
Is Iraq’s Nineveh boiling over?
[Jpost] A US service member was killed during a mission with Iraqi Security Forces in Nineveh province in Iraq, reports indicated over the weekend. However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
US authorities say they cannot confirm details of the incident, pending an investigation, and that the name of the service member has been withheld until next of kin can be notified.

This is a rare casualty for US operations in Iraq, where ISIS was largely defeated in large scale battles in 2017. However over the last year and a half ISIS has attempted to establish a new foothold and a recent US report said that it is trying to build up its command and control networks. It exploits areas where there is either weak government control, such as the desert border with Syria, or where there are divisions between local authorities. One of these areas is Nineveh province.

Iraq denies Pentagon report on presence of 14,000 IS militants on Syria’s border
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraq denied on Sunday a report released by the Pentagon last week about the presence of 14,000 Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
fighters on the country’s border with Syria.

"The figure announced by the Pentagon is extremely exaggerated," the front man for the Joint Operations Command, Brig. Gen. Yahya Rasool, said in a press statement, adding the number of IS members on the Iraqi-Syrian border are estimated at dozens.

Rasool pointed out that the recently-launched three-phase "Victory Will" operation succeeded in destroying many IS hotbeds and hideouts along the borderline between the two countries.

Last week, the Pentagon claimed that the IS group retains between 14,000 and 18,000 members in Iraq and Syria, including up to 3,000 foreigners. The report warned that the group is still actively trying to recruit new fighters in both countries.

The report to the Security Council said the group is believed to be capable of directing funds to support "terrorist acts" within Iraq, Syria and abroad by mainly using services such as informal money transfer businesses.

Joaquin Castro’s Donor Hit List Backfires, Supporters Donate $1 Million for Trump, part of $12 mil fundraising day
Unexpectedly.
[BREITBART] Rep. Joaquin Castro’s (D-TX) donor hit list appears to have backfired, with Trump supporters reportedly donating over $1 million to the president’s re-election campaign following Castro’s decision to publicly shame the Texas donors on Twitter.

R. H. Bowman ‐ one of the individuals publicly shamed by the Texas politician for donating the maximum amount to Trump’s re-election campaign ‐ told the Washington Examiner Friday that Castro’s efforts inspired others to donate to Trump’s re-election campaign, resulting in about $1 million raised for the president.

"My phone’s been lit up for two days with calls from many of the Texas 44 and others of our friends here in Texas who are outraged by Castro’s comments," Bowman said, according to the Examiner.

He continued:

It looks like another million dollars is now headed to support the Trump 2020 campaign from those of us who were targeted, and other Texans, including Hispanics, incidentally, whose resolve to support [the president] is only strengthened by this personal attack.

@realDonaldTrump raised $12M today, $2M more than originally expected

Olde Tyme Religion
Pope Francis Proposes ‘Europe First’ Against Populist Nationalism
[BREITBART] Pope Francis said that citizens of Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an nations should put the good of Europe before that of their own countries in a remarkably frank interview Friday.

"The thinking must be ’Europe first, then each one of us,’" the pope said in a wide-ranging interview with the Italian daily La Stampa. "’Each one of us’ is not secondary, it is important, but Europe counts more."

"Never forget that ’the whole is greater than the parts.’ Globalization, unity, should not be conceived as a sphere, but as a polyhedron: each people retains its identity in unity with others," he said.

"In the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, we must talk to each other, confront each other and get to know each other. Yet sometimes we see only compromise monologues. No: we also need to listen," he said.

The pontiff made no attempt to conceal his contempt for the policies of Italia’s interior minister, Matteo Salvini, whose motto has been "Italians first." Francis even went so far as to compare Salvini’s speeches to those of Adolph Hitler.

"Sovereignism" ‐ the movement spearheaded in Italia by Mr. Salvini ‐ reveals "an attitude toward isolation," the pope said. "I am concerned because we hear speeches that resemble those of Hitler in 1934. ’Us first, We...We...’ These are frightening thoughts."

Lindsey Graham Politely Explains to Idiot Reporters Why He needs an AR-15
[PJMEDIA] A favorite question that the anti-gun crowd likes to ask is "Why does anyone need an AR-15?" Sen. Lindsey Graham
...soft-spoken senator from South Carolina, former best buddy of John Maverick McCain. Since McCain's demise, Graham has become more outspoken, more Republican and more of a supporter of President Trump. The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems...
(R-S.C.) has a very practical answer to that, which he offered to news hounds on Friday.

The New York Post:

Sen. Lindsey Graham knocked down the idea of banning semi-automatic weapons nearly identical to those used by soldiers on the off chance a hurricane slams into his South Carolina town.

"Here’s a scenario that I think is real: There’s a hurricane, a natural disaster, no power, no cops, no anything," the Republican politician told news hounds aboard Air Force One.

A news hound asked if he meant looters.

"Yeah, people, they’re not going to come to the AR-15 home," Graham responded. "Well, I think if you show up on the porch with an AR-15, they’ll probably go down the street."

That's a very sound point. No matter where you live, you can come up with a legitimate argument for owning an AR-15 for self-defense. Of course, no one ever wants to be in a situation where they have to, but the peace of mind is a gift.

It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
chief Sirajul Haq
...current head of the Pak Jamaat-e-Islami. Siraj was born in 1962 and entered politics shortly after that...
said on Saturday his party would do everything to mobilise international community on the issue.

Presiding over a consultation meeting with the AJK chapter of Hurriyat leadership, he said China always backed Pakistain’s position on the disputed region and the nation was thankful for the gesture. The purpose of the meeting was to develop a future strategy to raise voice against the Indian aggression in held region particularly the situation emerged after the revocation of Article 370 by India.

He said JI would organise an international conference on Kashmir after Eid. Rallies and protest demonstrations would be held across the country to show solidarity with the people of Occupied Kashmir, he added.

Siraj said the JI was trying to mobilise Pak nation and the Moslem world on the issue. The JI would soon announce a plan that how to face and respond to India in the present crisis emerged after Aug 5, the day India scrapped Article 370 violating the UN resolutions and Simla Agreement.

He demanded that the government organise an international conference on Kashmir in Islamabad. The JI chief warned that the Indian government’s settlement plan in occupied region after scrapping Article 370 would be considered illegal and it would badly backfire. The people of Kashmir and Pakistain would never accept it under a conspiracy.

He said India had turned the entire occupied region into jail and deployed thousands of fresh troops to silence the voice of people of Kashmir. But, Siraj added, their ruthlessness and naked aggression against innocent people would never work as world had seen thousands of protesters across the valley on Friday and Saturday.

He congratulated the Kashmiri youth for standing firm against the Indian army and said 220 million Paks were also standing with them in their struggle against India.

‘Smoke will rise from Tel Aviv’: Iran warns Israel against joining US naval mission
Uh huh. So scary.
[ALMASDARNEWS] Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament, Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian has cautioned Israel against taking part in a planned US maritime coalition on his Twitter, warning the Jewish state that it will suffer the consequences otherwise.

"If Israel enters the Strait of Hormuz, it will be engulfed in the wrath of the region and its smoke will rise from Tel Aviv", he said.

Amir Abdollahian further advised the US and its allies to abandon the idea of their military mission in the Persian Gulf, arguing that it will not bring peace and safety to the region as they claim.

"Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has a vital role in the security of the Strait of Hormuz. Any US-led military coalition in the strait is a repetition of Iraq and Afghanistan occupation and escalation of insecurity in the region", Abdollahian wrote.

The senior advisor’s statements come in the wake of warnings, sounded by Iran’s Foreign Ministry on 9 August. The ministry’ front man stated that the country would view any external military coalition’s presence in the Gulf as a "clear threat" and act accordingly.

"Within the framework of the country’s deterrence and defensive policy, the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran reserves the right to counter this threat and defend its territory", Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Abbas Mousavi said.

The US has announced plans to organise the maritime military coalition in order to ensure the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz ‐ a crucial oil exporting lane, following the attacks on 6 tankers in the Gulf. The US groundlessly attributed the attacks to Iran, despite Tehran vehemently denying it.

IDF troops kill armed Palestinian along Gaza fence
[Jpost] Israeli troops shot and killed Marwan Nasser, 26, after he opened fire on them while trying to infiltrate into southern Israel, the military said Sunday morning. The Paleostinian terrorist was wearing a green bandanna associated with Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw,’s military wing, the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades.

"IDF observers spotted an armed terrorist approaching the security fence in the northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip," the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement. "The terrorist opened fire towards IDF troops. The troops, who were prepared for the event because of the observers, engaged the terrorist."

An Israeli tank fired at a post belonging to Hamas in response to the attempted infiltration.

No Israelis were hurt in the incident, and surrounding communities were not placed under increased security.

The incident came 24 hours after IDF troops rubbed out four heavily armed Paleostinians who attempted to infiltrate with rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), AK-47 assault rifles and grenades. The four Lions of Islam were identified as Abdullah Ismail, 21; al-Hamaida Abdullah Ashraf al-Ghomri, 19; Ahmad Ayman al-Adeini, 20; and Abdallah al-Masri, 21, all of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.

While the military hasn’t yet determined which group is behind the foiled attack, "Hamas is responsible for everything that happens in the Strip," IDF front man Ronen Manelis said. "There are incidents in which we can say there is a difference. [In some, there is] one person who plans an attack alone, like last week, and there are others like this one, which we see was a planned group attack."

De Blasio campaign event in Iowa draws roughly 15 attendees
Why would the nice folks in Iowa be interested in what a city slicker has to say, especially given how poorly his city is doing on his watch?
[NYPOST] Mayor Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly...
pitched his presidential dreams to a crowd of about 15 likely Democratic voters at an event Sunday morning in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

With more than enough empty space to accommodate his 6-foot-5 frame, the quixotic candidate took the floor at Parlor City Pub to a smattering of applause from the sleepy brunch set.

"Everything should be about our families, our lives, what everyday people are going through, what working people are going through," de Blasio told the crowd, which numbered around 15 ‐ not counting the press corps, campaign staff and Iowa State Sen. Rob Hogg, the event organizer.

"If we as Democrats are talking about that, we’re winning," said de Blasio, before reiterating his campaign slogan, "Working people first.

"Here’s the bottom line: We have a country that’s favored the 1 percent now for literally 40 years," said de Blasio. "The rich have gotten richer. Everybody else has been pretty much treading water."

The pitch was met with a mixed reception by the few there to hear it.

"I liked a lot of what he said," offered Carol Wickey, a 78-year-old retiree. "[But] I thought in his prepared comments he focused too much on working people."

Wickey said that she feared the divisive
...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled...
tone would drive a wedge between Democratic voters and ultimately wasn’t sold.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian Army scores important advance in northeast Latakia after heavy clashes
[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has scored a major advance in the northeastern countryside of the Latakia Governorate, today, after an unsuccessful operation on Friday.

Led by the elite 42nd Brigade (Ghiath Forces) of the 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their assault by storming the five hills under jihadist control in the Zuwayqat Mountain of northeast Latakia.

According to a field report from northeastern Latakia, the 42nd Brigade, alongside several former rebels, managed to capture three sites from the jihadists, including Hill 121.

The Syrian Arab Army is now two hills away from capturing all sites before the entrance of Kabani.

Over the past three months, the Syrian Arab Army has attempted to capture Kabani from the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else
...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State...
and the Turkestan Islamic Party.

However,
alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk...
all of their previous attempts have been repelled by the jihadist forces, as the latter continues to maintain the high ground around Kabani.

Europe
Norwegian Police Say Mosque Shooting Is a Terror Attempt
More on this story from yesterday.
[Breitbart] Police in Norway’s capital say the shooting at a mosque that maimed one person is being investigated as an attempted terrorist attack and that the alleged perpetrator is also a murder suspect in a separate case.

One suspect is in jug after the shooting Saturday at the al-Noor Islamic Center in the Oslo suburb of Baerum. Police say they believe no one else was involved.

Oslo police official Rune Skjold told a news conference Sunday that the suspect, a man in his 20s, has been found to hold extreme right-wing views and animosity toward immigrants colonists.

After the shooting, police went to his residence and said they found his 17-year-old sister dead. Police said the man is a suspect in that death.
Was this possibly intended to be a convoluted murder-suicide (by cop) that failed?
The Local adds that the sister is a stepsister, the Oslo suburb of Baerum is affluent, has details about our miscreant’s online posts, and:
According to official estimates about 200,000 Muslims lived in Norway in 2016, representing nearly four percent of the total population.
Update from the Daily Mail at 11:45 a.m EDT: the miscreant was named when he appeared in court today as Philip Manshaus.

#1  Aaaand... the muslim hugging has started.

"Muslims should be safe in our country and we want to show that they have support from the Norwegian government and, as I see it, the whole Norwegian people," Prime Minister Solberg said after attending an Eid Al-Adha celebration in the afternoon.

Terrible tragedy. The heavy armour and needless weapons must have weighed him down. Sigh... !

India-Pakistan
The Kashmir challenge
[DAWN] YET another intifada is on the cards in India-held Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder the refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir".
(IHK), which many believe would have a far-reaching impact on the geopolitical landscape of the region. While the international community is still assessing the probable responses by India and Pakistain, non-state actors are also closely monitoring the situation and exploring the spaces to exploit.

The Indian revocation of the special status of occupied Jammu & Kashmir has shut down almost all prospects for it to resolve the issue through dialogue, either with the Kashmiri leadership or with Pakistain. One wonders if India did not have any alternatives other than what it has already demonstrated in the form of strict security measures, communication blackouts, and draconian administrative measures to run the affairs of J&K.
