4 Killed, 43 Wounded In Chicago Weekend Shootings
[Chicago Sun Times] Weekend gun violence in Chicago left four people dead and at least 43 others wounded, including an 8-year-old girl who was shot Sunday at a barbecue in Humboldt Park.

The girl was playing in the 1000 block of North Monticello Avenue about 3:55 p.m., when someone inside a blue Dodge Charger drove by and opened fire, Chicago police said. She was rushed to Lurie Children's Hospital and was in good condition.

On Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was shot to death in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

William Granados was in the front seat of a vehicle about 1:53 a.m. in the 3400 block of West 24th Street when someone opened fire from the sidewalk, police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Granados was struck in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. An autopsy ruled Grandado's death a homicide, saying he died of a gunshot wound to the head.

VIDEO: CNN's Cuomo Threatens to Beat Up,Throw Trump Supporter Down Flight of Stairs
In a YouTube video released on Monday by "independent media journalist" with the title "That's the Point with Brandon," CNN's Prime Time host Chris Cuomo can be seen threatening to throw a reported "Trump supporter" down some stairs. The incident appeared to be designed to get a rise out of Cuomo, but the CNN host completely blew up at a minor slight.

All told, Cuomo used the "F-word" roughly 25 times.

Before the video started rolling, the unidentified man apparently called Cuomo by the name "Fredo." The name was a stinging nickname stemming from the disgraced Fredo Corleone character in The Godfather film.
Disgrace, fitting
Over the years, it's been a favorite jab at him from people on the right. But according to Cuomo, it was an ethnic slur on par with the "N-word"

MAN 1: What? What are you going to do about it?

CUOMO: I’ll fucking ruin your shit. I’ll fucking throw you down these stairs like a fucking punk.
Little desperate there, Crissy

Then there is Hannity, turtle boy. While the president mocked Cuomo over the confrontation, others have defended him. Fox News’ Sean Hannity tweeted that Cuomo has “zero to apologize for.”

#8  CNN is bad, regarding #6 Sean Hannity, sometimes you cannot tell the difference between CNN and Faux. Late this afternoon the talking heads were showing Hong Kong protesters beating the crap out of a riot police officer, showing that part of the video repeatedly.

What Faux failed to show was the police officer rushing the protesters and the protestors falling back, except for one little girl who was looking down at her cell phone not noticing the officer, who took her down to the floor hard. Protesters rushed back in to knock him off the top of her and proceeded to put him in a corner. That is when Faux news picks up the video.

Members of German crossbow sex cult suicide pact took knock-out drops before they were willingly killed in attempt to be 'reborn in a higher realm'
[MAIL] Members of a German crossbow sex cult suicide pact took knock-out drops before they were willingly killed in an attempt to be 'reborn in a higher realm,' investigators revealed today.

In May, German police were left baffled when three people were found dead from crossbow wounds in a sleepy Bavarian guesthouse and two days later two other cult members were found dead 400 miles north in Wittengen.

All five are understood to have believed they were 'World Renewers and World Heritage Producers' who thought they had been 'reborn' multiple times and that their deaths would transport them to a higher realm, Bild reported.

Detectives today believe Torsten Weiss, 53, and Kerstin Enders, 33, took drops of narcotics, similar to a date rape drug, before Farina Caspari, 30, shot them and then herself in Passau.

Caspari's girlfriend Gertrud C, 35, and Carina U, 19, who were discovered two days after the trio, are thought to have poisoned themselves at Caspari's apartment in Wittengen.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
The day Jeffrey Epstein told me he had dirt on powerful people
[Irish Times] Almost exactly a year ago, on August 16th, 2018, I visited Jeffrey Epstein at his cavernous Manhattan mansion. The overriding impression I took away from our roughly 90-minute conversation was that Epstein knew an astonishing number of rich, famous and powerful people, and had photos to prove it. He also claimed to know a great deal about these people, some of it potentially damaging or embarrassing, including details about their supposed sexual proclivities and recreational drug use.

So one of my first thoughts on hearing of Epstein’s suicide was that many prominent men and at least a few women must be breathing sighs of relief that whatever Epstein knew, he has taken it with him.

During our conversation, Epstein made no secret of his own scandalous past ‐ he’d pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution from underage girls and was a registered sex offender ‐ and acknowledged to me that he was a pariah in polite society. At the same time, he seemed unapologetic. His very notoriety, he said, was what made so many people willing to confide in him. Everyone, he suggested, has secrets and, he added, compared with his own, they seemed innocuous. People confided in him without feeling awkward or embarrassed, he claimed.

I’d never met Epstein before. I had contacted him because my colleagues and I had heard a rumour that he was advising Tesla’s embattled chief executive, Elon Musk, who was in trouble after announcing on Twitter that he had lined up the funding to take Tesla private.

#1  I don't believe a word. Why would Epstein converse about these things with James B Stewart of all people ? In his piece about the interview, Stewart describes Epstein as an oversharing, loose lipped lech who keeps steering the dialog toward controversy. Was he talking him into sharing a room with a damsel, hoping to hook a Pulitzer winning NYT writer ? What purpose did such talk serve ? He makes him sound more like John McAfee than the operator Epstein was. And for no reason slanders Elon Musk in the process. Anything can be reported now, that the horse is dead.

#3  dron, James Stewart is a credible source: a low-key, serious journalist who plays it straight and who has a long history of solid, in depth reporting on Wall Street figures (Stewart himself is a former Wall Street, white shoe lawyer).

Stewart does not oversell. His tone is skeptical, neutral, balanced. He characterizes everything clearly and with proper qualifications: "Epstein seemed... my impression ... he claimed, said, stated ..."

Stewart does not assert that Epstein has dirt. He reports Epstein's claims, and merely suggests that these claims line up with "one of my [Stewart's] first thoughts... that many prominent men and at least a ew women must be breathing sighs of relief that whatever Epstein knew, he has taken it with him..."

Green misanthropy: They want us dead....well, not everyone
[American Thinker] I like to remind people that the enviros, top to bottom, side to side, are misanthropists; they consider the human race a cancer on the planet. They hope to achieve a planetary wildlife park where the only humans allowed are the park rangers, who belong to their federation of environmental exclusives.

Here’s a good sampling of the attitudes of enviro fanatics, with the proviso that the current human population on planet earth is north of 5 billion and these statements are only a small sample of the larger environmentalist position on population and human habitation of the planet Earth:

David Brower, founder of the Sierra Club: "Childbearing should be a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license. All potential parents should be required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing."

Club of Rome: "...the resultant ideal sustainable population is hence more than 500 million people but less than one billion."

Susan Blakemore, a UK Guardian science journalist: "For the planet’s sake, I hope we have bird flu or some other thing that will reduce the population, because otherwise we’re doomed."

Paul Ehrlich, professor, Stanford University: "The addition of a temporary sterilant to staple food, or to the water supply. With limited distribution of antidote chemicals, perhaps by lottery".

Bill Gates, Microsoft billionaire, funder of enviro causes: "The world today has 6.8 billion people...that's headed up to about 9 billion. If we do a really great job on vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we could lower that by perhaps 10 to 15 percent."

Hans Joachim Schellnhuber, architect of the new Germanic masterplan, the 'Great Transformation': "When you imagine that if all these 9 billion people claim all these resources, then the earth will explode."

Jacques Cousteau, mega-celebrity marine biologist, French scientist: "In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 per day."

US Pols Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Rashida Tlaib; "In order to stabilize world population, we must eliminate 350,000 white people per day."

These doomsday proclamations are contradicted by reality; the quality of life on the planet has actually improved with an increase in population, as well established by studies of economic historian Julian Simon, who makes the case that a critical mass of humans is necessary for progress and creative development, as shown by the last two centuries of tremendous human development and improvements in quality of life across the planet.

Is it possible these enviros are, like most on the left, people who claim to care about the human race but don’t really care about human beings‐and are misanthropic to the core as an ideological mind set‐concerned about an abstraction, the human collective, but unconcerned about real live humans?
'Planned Parenthood' is also doing their part.

Researchers are working on a pill for loneliness, as studies suggest the condition is worse than obesity
[National Post] The volunteers at the University of Chicago’s Brain Dynamics Laboratory, all otherwise young and healthy, were tied together by really only one thing: nearly off-the-chart scores on the most widely used scale measuring loneliness.

Asked how often they felt they had no one they could turn to, how often they felt their relationships seemed superficial and forced, how often they felt alone, left out, isolated or no longer closer to anyone, the answer, almost always, was "always."

The volunteers agreed to be randomly dosed over eight weeks with either pregnenolone, a hormone naturally produced by the body’s adrenal gland, or a placebo. Two hours after swallowing the assigned tablet, the university’s researchers captured and recorded their brain activity while the participants looked at pictures of emotional faces or neutral scenes.

Studies in animals suggest that a single injection of pregnenolone can reduce or "normalize" an exaggerated threat response in socially isolated lab mice, similar to the kind of hyper vigilance lonely people feel that makes them poor at reading other people’s intentions and feelings.

The researchers have every hope the drug will work in lonely human brains, too, although they insist the goal is not an attempt to cure loneliness with a pill.

Lead researcher and neuroscientist Stephanie Cacioppo has likened using a drug to rubbing frost from a windshield. Loneliness increases both a desire to connect with others, and a gut instinct for self-preservation ("if I let you get close to me, you’ll only hurt me, too"). People become more wary, cautious and self-centred. The idea is to help people see things as they are, "rather than being afraid of everyone," Cacioppo said in an interview with Smithsonian.com.

#1  Pill? What happened to beer?
Posted by: Varmint Splat1454 || 08/13/2019 4:46 Comments || Top||

#2  Bee ? Oh ! I understand. I think. OHh !

Pregnenolone is a precursor hormone, meaning it is what later becomes progestogen or androgen steroid hormones. P5 as they call it, is also a neurosteroid that modulates the canabinoid type 1 receptors. These are activated by cannabinoids made within us (endocannabinoids). Leading to stabilized heartbeat, breathing, a general 'healthy' feeling when we are generally healthy. The modulation also facilitates triggers symptoms of ill-health, anxieties etc.

Now, an over-production of endocannabinoid almost never takes place because it's proportion is hardcoded into the CR-1 gene I don't know the science that well, mostly winging it here. But so are the eggheads... bear with me.

Dron's Tin-Foil Hat Ledger : Entry #002

Imagine the effect of extra P5 when cannabis is also introduced from outside the body. A feeling of 'everything is just fine', even when it's not ? Impair the natural flight-or-fright response ? Create voluntary victims ? What would it do to children or youth still growing, their brains still in training ? I think it's at least suspect with all the pro-weed lobbying and marketing already invested in. Theoretically, with marijuana and P5 pills you'd have people who could walk into a fire beaming. Think 'The Happening'.

Also, I find the statements made by this Cacioppo woman somewhat loopy, in a creepy Orwellian sense. I mean I'm all for altering brain chemistry, even lobotomizing criminals, but not with bodies of normal people with bad days. On her site the good doctor says she loves the brain. But then so do zombies.

It could act as a sufferance-reliever maybe, for people with chronic or terminal, torturous illnesses. I don't think it was approved by FDA as a unit medication, but ultra low concentrations can be used in compounds to treat schizophrenia, depression.

I could be wrong though. My interest in the brain is purely rudimentary and utilitarian.

#6  Probably the second set of laws placed by stylus to clay was how to play dice, so distractions are not a new thing. Availability and convenience may have something to do with it, but the question of the ages is what do you do with your time?

One of my favorite works of art is Rockwell's 'Lift Up Thine Eyes'.

"Nemesis, the goddess of retribution and revenge, learned what had happened and decided to punish Narcissus for his behaviour. She led him to a pool; there, the man saw his reflection in the smart phone water and fell in love with it. Although he did not realise in the beginning that it was just a reflection, when he understood it, he fell in despair that his love could not materialise and committed suicide."

[TheHill] Even amid the heated political rhetoric that dominates the news media and social media, resurrected false claims about the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., stand out as egregious.

On Friday and Saturday, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio), Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), former Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), Sen. The falsity of the narrative has been stated on even leftist platforms such as the WaPo, Slate and Vox.

Roos Enjoy a Snowday
[MSN] A motorist witnessed an unusual sight while traveling in rural Curraweela, New South Wales, on August 10: a large group of kangaroos bounding through the snow. Stephen Grenfell captured this video and posted it to Twitter with the caption: "Not something you see every day in Australia". The Bureau of Meteorology issued several warnings of severe weather in Australia's southeastern states, with this particular weather system forecasted to be the worst of the Australia winter so far this year. The Guardian reported that the NSW State Emergency Service had received some 1,167 requests for help on Saturday, August 10.

"Gunnery Sergeant Scott A. Koppenhafer, 35, of Mancos, Colorado, died August 10, 2019, after being engaged by enemy small arms fire while conducting combat operations. This incident is under investigation," read a statement from the DOD on late Sunday.

The marine was announced dead by the Combined Joint Task Force for Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) - the US-led international coalition to fight ISIS - on Saturday, but his identity was not disclosed until his next of kin were notified.

Koppenhafer was killed while "advising and accompanying the ISF [Iraqi Security Forces] during a planned operation," the coalition said in a statement on Saturday.

Operations resume at Hong Kong airport
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Operations resumed at Hong Kong airport early Tuesday morning, airport authorities said, with flights expected to begin arriving and taking off in the coming hour after protests shut down the travel hub.

"We have resumed check-ins," a front man for the airport told AFP.

The flight status board at the departures hall showed several flights listed as "boarding soon" with new take-off times listed for others.

By Tuesday morning, many of the posters and signs the protesters had placed throughout the terminals had been taken down, but graffiti - some reading "an eye for an eye" - had not yet been cleared.

The protesters adopted the slogan for their demonstration at the airport after a women suffered a serious face injury, reportedly losing her sight in one eye, at demonstrations that turned violent on Sunday night.

Protesters have said they plan to return to the airport later in the day to resume their demonstrations.

Brother of banned Nigerian Shiite group’s leader says Iran ‘lured him’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The brother of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Iranian-funded and inspired Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), has accused Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
of converting Zakzaky and said the IMN should be proscribed for causing terror, according to an interview with Nigeria’s Punch Newspapers.

"Iran invited him to their country to join them (become a Shiite), and they financed him. Originally, El-Zakzaky was Sunni but Iran lured him into becoming a Shiite," Zakzaky’s reported brother Sheikh Mohammed Yakoob told Punch’s Ted Odogwu on Saturday.

According to the Punch interview, Sheikh Yakoob also alleged that Iran promised to make Zakzaky "their Shiite ambassador in Nigeria."

Zakzaky, a Nigerian Shiite holy man, founded the IMN in the early 1980s after he visited post-revolution Iran. The group draws inspiration from Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini and has received financial and political support from Iran since its inception.

The IMN, which advocates for an Iranian-style republic in Nigeria, has been banned and designated as a terrorist organization by the Nigerian government. The banning of the group has drawn attention to Iranian influence among the Shiite community in Nigeria, which makes up an estimated five to 17 percent of Nigeria’s 100 million Moslems, amid fears of sectarian conflict erupting as the IMN rejects the authority of Nigeria’s Sunni President Muhammadu Buhari.

A Nigerian expert on the IMN who wished to remain anonymous emphasized Iran’s support for the organization.

"They use fatwa [legal verdicts] issued by the Iranian holy mans. They always look up to these holy mans as sources of spiritual guidance and light. Members of IMN enjoy Iranian scholarships and study in Iranian universities/institutions, especially in [the Iranian city of] Qom," the source told Al Arabiya English.

The source also alleged that Iran’s finances are facilitating the IMN’s recruitment tactics, suggesting the financial support from Iran was "utilized to economically empower new converts to Shiism. The economic empowerment is one of the potent weapons and strategies adopted by IMN to win loyalty of its distressed members."

Yakoob also criticized the IMN, alleging that its members carry guns and agreeing with the Nigerian government that it causes terror, as reported by Punch.

Regarding the 2015 incident in which his brother was arrested, Yakoob blamed IMN members for "attacking" Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, and suggested they should "learn to face the consequences." Other commentators have disputed this view, pointing to the Nigerian government’s disproportionately violent crackdown on the IMN.

Zakzaky was arrested in December 2015 after the Nigerian government stormed the IMN’s offices, resulting in approximately 350 deaths. The IMN has since been campaigning for his release, with protests often turning violent.

When asked by Punch if the IMN has arms, Yakoob responded "If you ask any security agency in Nigeria, they will tell you that Shiites have arms, but not enough to fight with. They have both local and foreign-made guns but they are not enough to fight. They kill soldiers and coppers."

Sheikh Yakoob, who is a Sunni Moslem, also expressed anti-Shiite views during the Punch interview.

Zakzaky was granted bail to fly to India for medical treatment on Monday last week.

Egypt targets daily crude oil production to hit 690,000 barrels by end of 2019
OPEC’s income and potential to influence the world reduces day by day.
[AlAhram] Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek El Molla said Monday Egypt targets increasing daily production of crude oil to hit 690,000 barrels by the end of 2019.

In a statement, the minister added that the average daily output currently stands at about 630,000 barrels.

An action plan is being implemented to increase Egypt's oil production, El Molla said.

In this regard, new geological phenomena that have already proved successful are being selected, while new geological structures that have never been considered are being tested, he added.

The minister said that newly-announced crude oil discoveries at Faghur Basin and Geisum in the Western Desert and the Gulf of Suez open new horizons for further discoveries in terms of targeting a surge in crude oil production similar to the recent increase in natural gas production.

Also, some high potential areas in the western Mediterranean region have been assigned to major global companies that own cadres, expertise and modern technologies, he added.

An international bid to search for oil and gas in the Red Sea region, planned to be closed on September 15, is witnessing a growing demand, Molla said.

A media statement issued Sunday said the officers made the discovery on Saturday afternoon in southern North Macedonia, near the town of Demir Kapija.

Police allege the migrants colonists entered the country illegally from Greece and say they will be deported back there. The statement says the passengers were taken to a shelter in the border town of Gevgelija.

New Puerto Rico governor suspends contract to rebuild power grid
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Puerto Rico’s new governor has announced that she is suspending a pending $450,000 contract that is part of the program to rebuild and strengthen the island’s power grid, which was wrecked by Hurricane Maria.

Sunday’s announcement is one of Wanda Vázquez’s first moves as governor. She did not explain why she was suspending the deal.

Puerto Rico’s Electric Power Authority had been expected to sign the contract with Canadian consulting firm Stantec. A Stantec official did not immediately respond to a message asking for comment.

It is unclear whether Vázquez’s move will delay efforts to bolster the power grid, which remains fragile and is prone to outages.

Vázquez became Puerto Rico’s third governor in a week following popular protests, and anger is still simmering over government corruption and mismanagement.

Lioness Who Killed, Ate Own Cubs Hired As Planned Parenthood Mascot
[Babylon Bee] LEIPZIG‐Kigali the lioness has been hailed as a women's rights advocate after she killed and ate her own cubs.

Planned Parenthood immediately jumped at the opportunity to leverage Kigali's popularity, offering her a job as the organization's mascot.

Kigali will appear in ads encouraging women to have as many abortions as they want and be available to counsel young ladies thinking about getting abortions.

"Imagine how inconvenient those two cubs would be if I'd kept them around---ugh," she said in a speech in front of Planned Parenthood's New York offices, with a lion from a local American zoo translating from her native German. "I'm now free to center my life around myself, having killed those two little unwelcome leeches."

She made it clear that the two cubs she killed weren't actually lions, per se, but just "clumps of cells" since she hadn't subjectively decided they were living beings yet. "As soon as I decided to terminate them, they became nothing more than parasites."

The lioness said she plans on sleeping around with other lions and killing and eating some more cubs, should she get pregnant. "My cubs, my choice."

Alec Baldwin Claims Russia Killed Jeffrey Epstein: ‘They're in Charge of Everything
[Breitbart] Actor Alec Baldwin claimed that financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was killed by the Russian state, which Baldwin said is now "in charge of everything" as a result of the Trump presidency.

Epstein, who was facing charges of child sex trafficking, was found dead in his cell on Saturday at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York. The timing of his death, as well as the fact that he had been taken off suicide watch, has fanned multiple conspiracies about whether he was murdered in order to prevent him from ever revealing damaging information on powerful people and politicians.

The Saturday Night Live star added fuel to fire over those conspiracies by arguing Epstein was murdered by the Kremlin.

"The Russians killed Epstein," Alec Baldwin said on Sunday, "They’re in charge of everything now."

Barr rips ‘prancing punks’ who doused cops with water
[NYPOST] Attorney General Bill Barr on Monday denounced the "prancing punks" who doused NYPD cops with water during a speech in which he condemned those who disrespect cops.

"We were all nauseated by the spectacle of prancing punks pelting New York coppers with water and plastic buckets. Unfortunately, these were not isolated events. From 2014 through 2017, there has been a 20 percent increase in assaults against police, up to about 60,000 per year," Barr said at the National Fraternal Order of Police’s conference in New Orleans.

Several people have been busted in the Big Apple this summer for dousing cops with water.

Barr then praised coppers for the job they do.

"To my mind, there is no more noble profession than serving as a police officer. You put your own life and well-being on the line to protect your communities," the nation’s top law enforcement official said.

"Your families spend anxious nights, so we can sleep in peace. You never know what your day may bring ‐ what uncertainty, danger, or threat you might face. But you still get up, put on your uniform and badge, kiss your loved ones, and head out to face whatever risks might come your way."

Police officers, he added, were "fighting an unrelenting, never-ending fight against criminal predators in our society. While there are battles won and lost each day, there is never a final resolution ‐ a final victory is never in sight."

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A majority of Britons believe Prime Minister Boris Johnson must take Britannia out of the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union "by any means", even if that involves suspending parliament, an opinion poll conducted for the Daily Telegraph said on Monday.

Johnson has promised to lead Britannia out of the EU on Oct. 31 regardless of whether he manages to secure an exit deal with Brussels, despite many in parliament being opposed to leaving without a deal.

A ComRes opinion poll showed 54% of respondents said they agreed with the statement: "Boris (Johnson) needs to deliver Brexit by any means, including suspending parliament if necessary, in order to prevent MPs (Members of Parliament) from stopping it."

Johnson is seeking a deal with the EU but has not ruled out suspending parliament to prevent politicians’ attempts to block a no-deal exit.

The poll showed 46% disagreed with the statement. The result was based on the answers of 1,645 respondents, after those who said they did not know their preference had been excluded.

The same survey found support for the Conservative Party had risen by 6 percentage points to 31%, compared with 27% who said they would back the opposition Labour Party. That result was based on 1,783 responses.

That finding is largely in line with other polls showing an increase in support for the Conservatives since Johnson took over from Theresa May, who formally quit last month having failed to deliver Brexit on schedule.

Rocket Fire Hits Libya Airport, Breaking Eid Truce
[AnNahar] Rocket fire hit the Libyan capital's sole functioning airport Sunday, violating a temporary truce between the unity government and forces loyal to strongman Khalifa Haftar
...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all...
, airport authorities said.

"Mitiga airport has been targeted by fire this morning, the first day of Eid al-Adha
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
", the airport's management said in a statement on Facebook, referring to the three-day Moslem holiday that began on Sunday.

Air traffic was suspended "until further notice", the statement added, alongside photos showing columns of smoke rising from the runway and parked planes.

Haftar launched an offensive to take Libya's capital in early April, but encountered stiff resistance, resulting in months of stalemate in southern Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
's outskirts.

His self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord had on Saturday agreed to a U.N.-sponsored humanitarian truce
..The purposes of a truce are twofold: 1.) bring up more arms, ammunition, and reinforcements; and 2.) get the enemy to relax his vigilance. A truce is not the same thing as a ceasefire, and a ceasefire doesn't mean you have to stop shooting...
for Eid al-Adha, although the GNA had listed conditions, including a cessation of troop movements.

Late Sunday a joint statement from the United Arab Emirates, the United States, La Belle France, Italia and the UK welcomed the U.N. truce for the Moslem holiday and said they were "ready to assist the U.N. mission in monitoring the observance of the truce and address any attempt to break it."

But the GNA blamed Haftar's forces for the attack against the airport, and for a separate alleged attack in the Soug al-Jomaa district of Tripoli.

"Haftar's militias have violated the truce twice," GNA front man Mustafa al-Mejii told AFP.

"The first time targeted a home in Soug al-Jomaa, wounding three civilians, and the second hit Mitiga airport," he added.

Located east of Tripoli, Mitiga is a former military airbase that has been used by civilian traffic since Tripoli's international airport suffered severe damage during fighting in 2014.

Mitiga is in a zone under the control of forces loyal to the U.N.-recognized GNA and has often been targeted.

"We have noted the coordinates of the rocket fire from zones controlled by Haftar's militias south of the capital" and passed them on to the UN mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Mejii said.

Libyan TV channels also reported exchanges of fire around the road to the closed international airport on Sunday.

Over the past four months, 1,093 people have been killed in the fighting and 5,752 maimed, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), while more than 120,000 people have been displaced.

Libya has been mired in chaos since a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
-backed uprising that toppled and killed dictator Muammar Qadaffy
...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland...

Liz Warren Vows to Tax Gun Owners Back to the Stone Age with Radical Anti-Second Amendment Agenda
Because THIS will win back the blue collar workers that Hillary lost!
[PJMedia] "The power to tax is the power to destroy."

-John Marshall, 4th Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court

U.S. Senator and Democratic presidential contender Liz Warren wants to tax us gun owners back to the Stone Age, as a part of her radical gun control agenda, revealed this weekend.

If elected, Warren promises to raise taxes on firearms and ammo purchases by 30% and 50%, respectively. That's on top of her plan for federal licensing for gun ownership -- presumably with a federal database of who owns what -- expanded background checks, and a renewed ban on "assault-style" weapons.

Warren revealed her plans at the Gun Safety Forum in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday, an event organized by Michael Bloomberg's Everytown for Gun Safety. She also posted on Medium:

"The next President has a moral obligation to use whatever executive authority she has to address the gun crisis, but it is obvious that executive action is not enough. Durable reform requires legislation ‐ but right now legislation is impossible. Why? A virulent mix of corruption and abuse of power."

What's she saying here? That she intends to go after the NRA and other lobby groups' "stranglehold on Congress" with new anti-corruption legislation. "Anti-corruption" in this case means "using the law to silence dissent." Because you can't gut the Second Amendment without gutting the First -- and vice-versa. Imagine the howls, under the first Republican president following a Liz administration, when progressive groups learn that Warren has neutered their First Amendment rights, too.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iranian authorities can seize any ship, any time, even if accompanied by American or British forces, claimed a senior Iranian naval commander on Sunday.

Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) navy, made the claim in an interview with al-Mayadeen TV Channel.

Tangsiri was sanctioned by the US on June 24, along with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and seven other IRGC commanders, under Executive Order 13876 in response to Iran’s downing of a US drone on June 20 and its long-term promotion of terrorism in the region.

Tangsiri also warned about any potential Israeli presence in the Arabian Gulf, saying that it would be illegitimate and could lead to a war in the region.

The IRGC navy is responsible for ensuring the security of the Strait of Hormuz and the Arabian Gulf, said Tangsiri, adding that there is no need for foreign forces.

Iran

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
will ensure the security of the Strait of Hormuz as long as it is able to export oil, he said, criticizing the US and the UK’s presence for designing "various scenarios" in the region to legitimise their presence in the Arabian Gulf.

He also accused the US of targeting oil tankers near Iranian waters and blaming Iran for the attacks. Iran has seized three tankers in strategic Arabian Gulf waters since last month, including the British-flagged oil tanker the Stena Impero.

The US and the UK have announced an "international maritime security mission" to protect merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions, as P&O Cruises has cancelled cruises around Dubai and the Arabian Gulf in response to Iran seizing foreign vessels.

Evidence? Russia's Nuclear-Powered Doomsday Missile Blew Up Last Week (Updated)
[TheDrive] Seven personnel from a major nuclear weapons research laboratory died in the mysterious incident at a test site in northwestern Russia.

Rumors and speculation continue to swirl around a radiological accident last week at a missile test site in northwestern Russia even as officials held a memorial service today for those who died in the incident. The Kremlin has now acknowledged that the incident killed at least seven scientists and other personnel from a major state nuclear research laboratory, who were working on a system that included a small nuclear reactor at the time. This same lab is linked to the development of a nuclear-powered cruise missile called Burevestnik and U.S. intelligence officials are reportedly increasingly of the view that one of these weapons, or a test article related to it, exploded in this mishap.

Details remain scarce about Burevestnik and how it works, but the most prominent working theory is that its main propulsion source is a nuclear ramjet. A weapon in this configuration would use rocket motor potentially liquid-fueled, which would explain the source of the explosion in this accident to boost it to the optimal speed for the ramjet to work. After that, air would pass over the nuclear reactor and get heated before passing through an exhaust nozzle at the rear to produce thrust.

This, in principle, would give the weapon virtually unlimited range and a maximum flying time measured in days or weeks.

U.S. President Donald Trump appears to have confirmed that the U.S. Intelligence Community has at least strong suspicions that a Burevestnik nuclear-powered cruise missile, or a prototype thereof, was involved in the accident last week. Trump Tweeted about the incident late on Aug. 12, 2019, describing it using the NATO nickname for the weapon, "Skyfall." Previous reports have identified this moniker, but no U.S. or other NATO officials have used it publicly before, suggesting that the social media post followed a formal briefing on the topic.

"Since nuclear power gave it almost unlimited range, the missile could cruise in circles over the ocean until ordered "down to the deck" for its supersonic dash to targets in the Soviet Union."

IRL the devices range would be very much limited not by fuel but by the extreme stress of hypersonic flight at low altitudes in dense air.

Friend of Dayton shooter faces federal charges, US attorney says
[WCPO] DOJ: Ethan Kollie, 24, illegally bought firearm components, body armor.

Federal officials have charged a friend of the Oregon District gunman with illegally buying body armor and components for the weapon used in the deadly mass shooting on Aug. 4.

Ethan Kollie, 24, of Kettering, admitted buying an upper receiver that was attached to Connor Betts's AR-15 and the 100-round double-drum magazine Betts used to kill nine people in the Dayton entertainment district, according to an affidavit.

Kollie and Betts, 24, of Bellbrook, allegedly assembled the AR-15 in Kollie's apartment 10 weeks ago, according to U.S. Attorney Benjamin Glassman. Kollie bought the drum 6-8 weeks ago and that's when Betts took possession of all three components, Glassman said.

Kollie's admitted drug use made it illegal for him to purchase or possess a firearm or components, and Kollie is also being charged for lying on federal firearm forms, according to Glassman. Kollie owned several guns and had a concealed carry permit.

Glassman said there is no evidence that Kollie participated in the planning or shooting with Betts.

Kollie, who was arrested Friday, said he and Betts did "hard drugs," marijuana and acid together four or five times a week between 2014 and 2015, according to Glassman. Kollie also told FBI agents he smokes marijuana every day and has done so since he was 14, and that he uses psychedelic mushrooms he grows in his apartment, Glassman said.
Good lord. It’s a wonder the man is able to open both eyes at the same time, never mind pointing them both in the same direction.
Kollie owned a micro Draco pistol, a Taurus semi-automatic and a .38 Taurus revolver, Glassman said. Agents interviewing Kollie at his apartment said they smelled marijuana and saw a bong and the Draco pistol in plain sight. When agents returned with a search warrant, they said Kollie was carrying the .38 and what they believed was a small amount of marijuana.

When purchasing weapons, Kollie checked the "No" box when asked if he used drugs, Glassman said.

Kollie said he kept the gun components and body armor he bought for Betts earlier this year because Betts wanted to hide them from his parents, according to Glassman.

Glassman and Todd Wickerham, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI office in Cincinnati, announced the charges at a 2 p.m. news conference in Dayton.

Glassman said the FBI investigation is continuing and anyone who assisted Betts or had prior knowledge of the attack would face federal charges.

Wickerham said the FBI is still examining the cell phone Betts was carrying at the time of the attack.

Kollie faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of possessing a firearm as an unlawful user of a controlled substance, and up to five years for making a false statement regarding firearms, Glassman said.

Betts killed his sister and eight others and maimed 14, officials say. More than a dozen others were hurt while trying to escape the gunfire on Fifth Street. Police shot and killed Betts at the scene.

UN expert urges France to try nationals on death row in Iraq
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A UN human rights
When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much...
expert on Monday called on the French government to repatriate and try seven Frenchies sentenced to death on terror charges in Iraq.

In a statement, Agnes Callamard, a UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, expressed "serious concerns" over the men’s fate.

"There are serious allegations that the sentences were handed down following unfair trials, with the accused having no adequate legal representation or effective consular assistance," Callamard said.

She said Iraq’s legal system was "marred by very serious structural problems."
Hundreds of foreigners have been sentenced to death or life imprisonment in Iraq for belonging to ISIS.

Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an governments have long debated whether and how to take back former fighters and their supporters amid a host of security, political, and legal issues.

The seven Frenchies were arrested by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and subsequently transferred to Iraq in February, allegedly at the request of the French government or with its suspected involvement, Callamard said.

Once in Iraq, they were reportedly subject to torture or other ill-treatment, she added.

"In these circumstances, the transfer of persons to Iraq for prosecution is illegal. I am particularly disturbed by allegations that La Belle France may have had a role in this transfer, given the risk involved of torture and unfair trials and that they would likely face the death penalty
," Callamard added.

She has written to French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe with her concerns.

Callamard named the men as Fodil Tahar Aouidate, Mourad Delhomme, Karam El Harchaoui, Bilel Kabaoui, Leonard Lopez, Brahim Nejara, and Vianney Ouraghi.

Last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel Mahdi declared that his government was not empowered to reduce the sentences of foreign Lions of Islam facing death.

Iraqi law stipulates the death penalty for anyone joining a "terrorist group" -- even those who did not take up arms.

La Belle France and other European countries have strongly resisted the repatriation of their nationals suspected of joining ISIS. But La Belle France is also staunchly opposed to capital punishment.

US: New rules to deny green cards to many legal immigrants
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] The Trump administration announced on Monday it is moving forward with one of its most aggressive steps yet to restrict legal immigration: Denying green cards to many migrants colonists who use Medicaid, food stamps, housing vouchers or other forms of public assistance.

Federal law already requires those seeking to become permanent residents or gain legal status to prove they will not be a burden to the US - a "public charge," in government speak -but the new rules detail a broader range of programs that could disqualify them.

It’s part of a dramatic overhaul of the nation’s immigration system that the administration has been working to put in place, despite legal pushback.

While most attention has focused on President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, including recent raids in Mississippi and the continued separation of migrant parents from their children, the new rules target people who entered the United States legally and are seeking permanent status.

Trump is trying to move the US toward a system that focuses on immigrants colonists’ skills instead of emphasizing the reunification of families.

Under the new rules, US Citizenship and Immigration Services will now weigh whether applicants have received public assistance along with other factors such as education, income and health to determine whether to grant legal status.

The rules will take effect in mid-October. They don’t apply to US citizens, though immigrants colonists related to the citizens may be subject to them.

Ken Cuccinelli, acting director of Citizenship and Immigration Services, said the rule change will ensure those who come to the country don’t become a burden, though they pay taxes.

"We want to see people coming to this country who are self-sufficient," Cuccinelli said. "That’s a core principle of the American dream. It’s deeply embedded in our history, and particularly our history related to legal immigration."

Moslem colonists Migrants make up a small percentage of those who get public benefits. In fact, many are ineligible for such benefits because of their immigration status.

Immigrant rights groups strongly criticized the changes, warning the rules would scare immigrants colonists away from asking for needed help. And they voiced concern the rules give officials too much authority to decide whether someone is likely to need public assistance in the future.

Iraq
Large explosion at an ammunition depot southwest of #Baghdad has injured 13
[TWITTER]
The Times of Israel adds:
Local media reported that the weapons storehouse was controlled by the Sayyid of Martyrs Battalions, an Iraqi Shiite militia supported by Israel’s nemesis Iran.

"An explosion occurred because of the piling up of munitions inside the Saqr military base in southern Baghdad," Iraq’s joint military-police Baghdad Operations Command wrote on its Facebook page.

The blast came amid reports that Israel has been increasingly carrying out Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s against Iran-backed militias in Iraq.

Last month, Asharq al-Awsat, an Arabic-language newspaper published in London, cited Western diplomatic sources as saying an Israeli F-35 plane was behind a July 19 strike on a rocket depot in a Shiite militia base north of Baghdad.

The Saudi-based al-Arabiya network reported at the time that members of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps and Hezbollah had been killed in the strike. It said the base had shortly before the strike received Iranian ballistic missiles, which were hidden inside trucks.

Iraq’s military said at the time that one fighter was killed and two Iranians maimed, saying the strike was carried out by an unmanned drone. The United States denied involvement.

Asharq al-Awsat also said that Israel was behind another strike in Iraq carried out Sunday at Camp Ashraf, the former headquarters of the exiled People’s Mujahedin of Iran, located 40 kilometers northeast of Baghdad and 80 kilometers from the Iranian border.

That strike targeted Iranian advisers and a ballistic missile shipment, the newspaper cited sources as saying.

The Israel Defense Forces has not commented on the reports.
For those familiar with Baghdad, The Times of Israel adds in another article:
The blast occured in the Iraqi capital’s Dora neighborhood.
*sigh* Fog of war: the Jerusalem Post adds:
One person was killed and 29 others were injured after explosions were reported at a base of Iranian-backed Shia militias south of Baghdad, Iraq, according to Sky News Arabia. Shortly after, shells fell in the Green Zone of Baghdad where the American Embassy in Iraq is located, according to Sky News Arabia.

The Iraqi Ministry of Health earlier said 13 people were injured in the explosion, according to the Iranian IRNA news agency.

An Al Mayadeen correspondent reported that the explosions were caused by shells hitting the base held by al-Hashd ash-Sha'abi or Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) located in the Abu Dshir area, according to preliminary information.

Al-Ain news reported that an unidentified aircraft carried out the attack on the base to which the PMU recently transferred heavy weapons and missiles.

A police source said the fire was probably caused by negligence leading to poor storage conditions and high temperatures, according to Reuters.

German Exports To Iran Drop By Half In First 6 Months Due To U.S. Sanctions
[Jpost] US sanctions took a heavy toll on Germany’s export trade with the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
during the first six months of 2019, causing a fall of 48%, according to a Rooters review of new statistics on Monday.

The collapse in business suggests companies are scaling back business ties with Tehran to avoid trouble with the United States after Washington reimposed sanctions.

The US classifies Iran’s regime as the leading international state-sponsor of terrorism. Sales to Iran plunged by 48% to 678 million euros ($758.8 million) from January through June year-on-year, according to data from the Federal Statistics Office. Imports from Iran declined by 43% to nearly 110 million euros.

"The fact that trade between Iran and Germany has collapsed that massively is not a big surprise, unfortunately," the BGA trade association said.

It pointed to the extra-territorial character of recent U.S. sanctions, which means that companies from other countries are also punished if they do business with Iran.

"German companies are forced to choose between their market activities in Iran and the United States, so it’s clear which market is preferred," BGA said.

Despite the U.S. decision to reimpose sanctions, Germany, La Belle France and Britannia are trying to rescue the agreement by setting up a barter-based trade conduit with Iran, but an Iranian mirror mechanism has yet to be established.

If the mechanism, also known as Instex, goes ahead, it would initially deal only in products such as pharmaceuticals and foods, which are not subject to U.S. sanctions.

Iranian officials have repeatedly said Instex must cover oil sales or provide substantial credit facilities for it to be beneficial.

Instex suffered a setback on Thursday when Germany’s appointed director Bernd Erbel, a former ambassador to Iraq and Iran, was forced to resign. Erbel appeared on a radio program with a host who has denied the Holocaust and is known for his hardcore antisemitism.

Erbel said on the program that for "psychological reasons," Israel was incapable of feeling empathy towards others. "They give you the feeling that only others can commit an act of injustice, because they were on the receiving end of injustice." Erbel also showed enormous sympathy for the Iranian mullah regime and praised the terrorist entity Hezbollah’s war against Israel.

Chancellor Angela Merkel

Last year, Germany exported mainly machinery, chemical products, cars and car parts to Iran.

[DAWN] The latest round of talks between the Taliban

He made no statements on the outcome of the talks.

Last week, another Taliban front man had said a deal was expected to follow this round as both sides seek an end to the nearly 18-year war, America's longest conflict.

An agreement if reached is expected to include Taliban guarantees that Afghanistan would not be a base for other turban groups in the future. However,

(IS) group's affiliate and al-Qaeda remain active in the country. The Taliban stage near-daily attacks across Afghanistan, mainly targeting Afghan forces and government officials but also killing many civilians.

The deal also could include a cease-fire and stipulate that the Taliban would negotiate with Afghan representatives, though the bad boy group has so far refused to negotiate with Kabul representatives, dismissing the Afghan government as a US puppet.

There was no immediate comment on Monday from US envoy Zalmay Khalilzad, who on Sunday tweeted: "I hope this is the last Eid where #Afghanistan is at war."

Suspect in Norway mosque shooting not admitting guilt, says lawyer
[DAWN] The man suspected of shooting at people inside a Norwegian mosque on Saturday and of separately killing his stepsister does not admit to any crime and is not speaking with Sherlocks, his lawyer said on Monday.

"He is exercising his right not to be interrogated," his defence attorney, Unni Fries, told Rooters. "He is not admitting any guilt."

A court is expected to rule later on Monday on a police request to detain the 21-year-old for the next several weeks.

Police said on Sunday they were investigating whether the man was guilty of breaching anti-terrorism laws when shots were fired at the al-Noor Islamic Centre near the Norwegian capital, although no one was hit in the attack.

The man, who is also suspected of killing his 17-year old stepsister before the attack, was eventually overpowered by a member of the mosque and held down by several people before his arrest.

The Grand Turk
The Real Cost of Ejecting Turkey From the F-35 Program
click on link to read whole article - short form:
[Stratfor] These variables loom at an inopportune moment. Turkey's decision to begin searching for hydrocarbons off the coast of ethnically divided Cyprus prompted the European Union to sanction Ankara because it considers the EU member's internationally recognized government in the Greek-majority southern part of the island nation to have exclusive rights to those Eastern Mediterranean waters. Turkey recognizes the Turkish Cypriot administration in the breakaway northern part of Cyprus and argues that any hydrocarbons found in the country's exclusive economic zone belong to all Cypriots; the government's drilling activities are only benefiting Greek Cypriots, Turkey says. While Turkey may have a valid point, its drilling activities are perceived to be hostile and belligerent. In the event of a conflict between Turkey and another European power, what will be the position of the United States? This is a clear unknown. In previous years, the United States has mediated and de-escalated contentious issues, but U.S. policy under Trump has resulted in regional disengagement. With the deepening bilateral U.S.-Turkey crisis, it is also clear that Turkey would not trust the United States to mediate if an unexpected conflict arises.

What is off the table for sure is Turkey being ousted from NATO. The F-35 debacle, however, will likely result in Turkey being removed from key NATO military programs, missions and intelligence platforms as the deployment of the S-400 system is a direct threat to NATO's operational security. Even if Trump holds off in pressing ahead with sanctions in the immediate term, such delay is unlikely to continue. Independent of Turkey, countries such as China and Egypt are also interested in purchasing the S-400 system. If they are not disincentivized by making a clear example out of Turkey, it could open the floodgates and allow allies to buy weapons that are not manufactured by the United States. Congress isn't likely to tolerate or accept this.

In the final analysis, the wider picture is clear: The loss of trust between the United States and Turkey is real and will be hard to soon reestablish in any substantive form. The question of whether the S-400s will actually be operational still stands, however.

#1  what a thumbsucker of an analysis

the truth is Turkey doesn't really need the F-35 or the S-400 as no major power threatens them militarily

the principal threats to Turkey are

- Erdogan himself,
- ISIS, al Q, the PKK, maybe a few others

The F-35 doesn't protect against any of these

if and when Iran gets nukes and can strap them to a missile, that would be a threat also but even then the F-35 doesn't help and neither does the S-400

#2  The analysis seems to miss the point that Turkey the Ottoman Empire wants Cyprus, Crete and -all- of the Eastern Mediterranean. From Cyprus/Crete SAM's and semi-stealthy F-35s would have made this ambition easier. Erdogan, like Adolph, got greedy.

Could a nation involved a continual state of foreign conflict since the Korean War be offered as evidence, or is that purely coincidental? Perhaps an examination of just the previous eighteen years would provide a more contemporary sampling.

#6  And what if, for once, the USA is taking the long view and is implementing a pragmatic policy -- one that is determined to outlast Erdogan? Recall, his loss of Ankara and Istamboul in the recent election shows that his Party's base is diminishing. What if the USA were following a policy to weaken Erdogan both politically and economically but one that does not break entirely with the Turkish polity, and thus the Turkish people?

#7  The Berlin Blockade prompted the reestablishment of a peacetime draft and the commitment to being a world policeman that was fundamentally fatal to the old Constitution and the rise of a permanent 'Deep State'. The previous 'war' experiences were marked by demobilization and return to the antebellum economic-political-social relationships when the emergency was over. Its not like small frequent local military operations were unusual, just ask the natives on the frontier. However, that was done by a small volunteer force often starved of resources. Their most vexing international problem was the attitude of the Mexican government in allowing sanctuary to the 'opfor' to operate out from (things don't change a lot).

I read The Grand Strategy of the Roman Empire: From the First Century A.D. to the Third by Edward N. Luttwak. There are parallels in the Late Roman Republic to our current actions. The Republican Romans exercised "preemptive paranoid self-defense" by mobilizing farmer soldiers, marching out to trample someone, and then demobilizing back to their homes. As Rome became more powerful they just found themselves more and more things to be paranoid about and the citizen soldiers had to be replaced by full-time professionals to "police the territories".

Ilhan Omar Falsely Claims That 'White Men' Are Greater Threat Than Jihadis
[PJMEDIA] The famously winsome and charming Rep. Ilhan Omar
...Somali-American Dem representative from Minnesota. She is apparently married to her brother and may be her own grandmaw on her mother's side...
(D-Minn.), in a 2018 interview that recently resurfaced, fed the fires of the "white supremacist terror" hysteria when she asserted that "our country [no, not Somalia] should be more fearful of white men across our country because they are actually causing most of the deaths within this country." She also offered a ready solution: "Profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of white men." Amid a general clamor on the Left over "white supremacist terrorism," this is even crazier than most claims, as commonplace as it is. But the reality is that the idea that there is a massive terror threat from "white supremacists," dwarfing the jihad threat, isn’t remotely true.

As I noted back in November 2018 when CNN’s intrepid journalist Don Lemon made the same claim, it originated with an April 2017 Government Accountability Office (GAO) study that counted 106 people killed in 62 attacks by "far-right violent krazed killers," as compared to 119 people killed in 23 attacks by "radical Islamist violent krazed killers."

That’s right: 62 attacks by "far-right violent krazed killers," as opposed to only 23 attacks by "radical Islamist violent krazed killers." A slightly larger number of people were killed in the jihad attacks, but there were so many more "far-right" attacks that this establishes conclusively that America has a much bigger problem with the "far-right" than with jihadis. Doesn’t it?

It doesn’t. One major problem with the Government Accountability Office study leaps out from page 6 of its report, where you will see that the count of fatalities committed by "far right wing krazed killers" and "radical Islamist krazed killers" begins on September 12, 2001. Why was that day chosen? Why not start the study at the beginning of a year, or of this century?

The answer is clear: if the GAO had gone back one more day, the number of Americans killed by Islamic jihadists would have been several thousand more than those killed by "far-right violent krazed killers." The GAO obviously started its study on September 12, 2001, in order to manipulate the results so as to exaggerate the terror threat from the "far-right" and minimize it from Islamic jihadis. This is a "study" that was conducted in order to justify a predetermined conclusion, not a genuinely dispassionate search for the truth.

Epstein, guard took bribe from Turkish gold dealer, Wikileaks managed shares prison phone
[DailyMail] The security lapses at the jail where Jeffrey Epstein killed himself: How a guard took a bribe from a Turkish gold dealer and how a Wikileaks leaker managed to share new information from phones smuggled into his cell
  • Jeffrey Epstein was found alone and unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan early Saturday

  • He was pronounced dead at New York Presbyterian-Lower Manhattan hospital

  • The billionaire pedophile's death has raised serious questions about the jail given it is hardly the first scandal

  • A prison guard, Victor Casado, pleaded guilty last year to taking $25,000 in cash bribes to smuggle cellphones, alcohol and food to a wealthy Turkish gold trader

  • Reza Zarrab,
...who first appeared on our radar in late 2013 as an incidental item while then-Prime Minister Erdogan raged against the detention of dozens of his top people in a graft probe he blamed on the perfidy of his BFF Fethullah Gulen...
who was the trader involved, was in prison over a money laundering scheme to Iran and says someone also tried to assassinate him

  • A former CIA employee, Joshua Adam Schulte,
...the former CIA programmer arrested for having child porn, subsequently discovered to have shared information on government hacking tools to Wikileaks...
is also accused of leaking classified files from a cell phone while he was locked up in the federal prison

Jeffrey Epstein's apparent suicide has brought new scrutiny to the federal jail in New York where he was being held given the previous security lapses at the facility that houses some of the highest-security inmates in the country. Epstein's death is hardly the first scandal at the MCC facility in Manhattan.

Last year, a prison guard at the jail, Victor Casado, pleaded guilty to taking more than $25,000 in cash bribes to smuggle cellphones, alcohol and food to a wealthy Turkish gold trader between 2016 and 2017. Reza Zarrab, who was the Turkish gold trader involved with bribing the guard, was in prison over a money laundering scheme to Iran.

He has previously testified in court that someone tried to assassinate him at the prison when he implemented Turkey's President Recep Tayip Erdogan in the scheme that would launder billions of dollars from the U.S. to Iran.

A former CIA employee, Joshua Adam Schulte, accused of leaking classified files while in prison. Schulte last year with stealing classified defense information from the CIA in 2016. He is believed to be behind the 'Vault 7' and 'Vault 8' documents released by WikiLeaks.

The 12-story jail had been designed to house 449 inmates when it opened in 1975. Today it holds more than 760.

Ron Kuby, who once represented a blind Egyptian sheik, lockup houses some of 'the highest-security prisoners on earth.'

He said that while suicide attempts among inmates are commonplace, 'it's been a long time since they lost somebody.'

California's Background Check Law Had No Impact on Gun Deaths, Johns Hopkins Study Finds
Almost like it is not about safety, but keeping the population under control
[FEE] A new academic study has found that, once again, gun laws are not having their desired effect.

A joint study conducted by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the University of California at Davis Violence Prevention Research Program found that California’s much-touted mandated background checks had no impact on gun deaths, and researchers are puzzled as to why.

CALIFORNIA GUN LAWS ARE A FAILURE
In 1991, California simultaneously imposed comprehensive background checks for firearm sales and prohibited gun sales (and gun possession) to people convicted of misdemeanor violent crimes. The legislation mandated that all gun sales, including private transactions, would have to go through a California-licensed Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer. Shotguns and rifles, like handguns, became subject to a 15-day waiting period to make certain all gun purchasers had undergone a thorough background check.

It was the most expansive state gun control legislation in America, affecting an estimated one million gun buyers in the first year alone. Though costly and cumbersome, politicians and law enforcement agreed the law was worth it.

The legislation would "keep more guns out of the hands of the people who shouldn’t have them," said then-Republican Gov. George Deukmejian.

"I think the new laws are going to help counter the violence," said LAPD spokesman William D. Booth.

More than a quarter of a century later, researchers at Johns Hopkins and UC Davis dug into the results of the sweeping legislation. Researchers compared yearly gun suicide and homicide rates over the 10 years following implementation of California’s law with 32 control states that did not have such laws.

They found "no change in the rates of either cause of death from firearms through 2000."

The findings, which run counter to experiences in Missouri and Connecticut that did show a link between background checks and gun deaths, appear to have startled the researchers.

Garen Wintemute, a UC Davis professor of emergency medicine and senior author of the study, said incomplete data and flawed criminal record reporting might explain the results.
Only surprising until you think of my previous comment...
Wintemute noted:

In 1990, only 25 percent of criminal records were accessible in the primary federal database used for background checks, and centralized records of mental health prohibitions were almost nonexistent.

US, Turkey begin work to create Syria buffer zone
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A US delegation arrived in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
on Monday to begin working with Ankara on creating a buffer zone in northern Syria, under a plan strongly rejected by Damascus.

Ottoman Turkish and US officials struck a deal last week to establish the safe zone to manage tensions between Turkey and US-backed Kurdish forces in war-torn Syria.

But Damascus has accused Ankara and Washington of violating its illusory sovereignty with the "expansionist" and "aggressive" project.

Turkey’s defense ministry said that six US officials arrived in the southeastern city of Sanliurfa on Monday to start setting up a joint operations center, which is to open "in the coming days."

No details have been provided on the size or timetable for the safe zone, but the deal appears to have provided some breathing room after Turkey had threatened an imminent attack on the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), which control a large swathe of northern Syria.

The YPG has been a key US ally in the fight against ISIS in Syria, but Ankara brands them "terrorists", viewing them as an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) which has fought a bloody insurgency inside Turkey for 35 years.

Turkey has called for the safe zone to be 30 kilometers (18 miles) wide - a demand reiterated by Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Monday.

"We have said on every occasion that we need a width of 30 to 40 kilometers," Akar told state-run TRT television.

The Kurds have agreed to a buffer zone, but have requested it to be five kilometers wide, a proposal rejected by Turkey.

While fighting ISIS; a terrorist organization, the Kurds have taken advantage of the Syrian war to set up an autonomous region in the northeast.

But as the fight against ISIS winds down in the region, the prospect of a US military withdrawal has stoked Kurdish fears of a long threatened Ottoman Turkish attack.

Turkey has already carried out two cross-border offensives into Syria in 2016 and 2018, the second of which saw it and allied Syrian rebels overrun the Kurdish enclave of Afrin in the northwest.

Caribbean-Latin America
Guatemala election winner sets sights on changing Trump migrant deal
[AlAhram] Guatemalan conservative Alejandro Giammattei secured a crushing victory in a presidential election on Sunday, and promised to seek better terms for his country from an unpopular migration deal agreed with Washington under duress last month.

With preliminary results from over 99% of polling stations counted, the electoral tribunal declared Giammattei the winner with more than 58% of the vote, ahead of his center-left rival, former first lady Sandra Torres, with 42%.

Speaking a few hours before being declared the winner, Giammattei said he wanted to see what could be done to improve the deal that outgoing President Jimmy Morales made to stem US-bound migration from Central America.

Giammattei will not take office until January, by which time Guatemala may be under severe pressure from the deal, which effectively turns the country into a buffer zone, by forcing migrants colonists to seek refuge there rather than in the United States.

"I hope that during this transition the doors will open to get more information so we can see what, from a diplomatic point of view, we can do to remove from this deal the things that are not right for us, or how we can come to an agreement with the United States," Giammattei, 63, told Rooters in an interview.

Threatened with economic sanctions if he said no, Morales reached an accord in late July to make Guatemala - despite endemic poverty and violence that have led hundreds of thousands of its people to migrate north - a so-called safe third country for migrants colonists.

"It's not right for the country," Giammattei said of the deal. "If we don't have the capacity to look after our own people, imagine what it will be like for foreigners."

Asked about Giammattei's comments, US border patrol chief Carla Provost said in an interview with Fox News channel, "It certainly is a concern. We need both Mexico and Guatemala to continue doing what they're doing," referring to Mexico's own campaign to block migrants colonists from crossing its border with the United States.

The third country agreement is also highly unpopular in Guatemala.

A poll published this month by Guatemalan newspaper Prensa Libre showed more than eight out of 10 rejected the idea of the country accepting foreign migrants colonists seeking asylum.

It is unclear how much Giammattei will be able to do to change the deal, which would require Hondurans and Salvadorans to apply for asylum in Guatemala rather than the United States. It also foresees granting US visas to some Guatemalan workers.

Taking over a country also struggling with a 60% poverty rate, Giammattei has promised to erect an "investment wall" on the border with Mexico to curb migration. He has also proposed bringing back the death penalty

Many Guatemalans are fed up with the political class after investigations by the International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG), a UN-backed anti-corruption body, led to the arrest of then-President Otto Perez in 2015, and then threatened to unseat his successor Morales, a former TV comedian.

U.N.: Car Bomb Kills 3 U.N. Staff outside Mall in Libya
[AnNahar] A bomb-laden vehicle went kaboom! overnight outside a shopping mall in Libya's eastern city of Benghazi, killing at least three U.N. staff members, a front man for the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
secretary-general said. The attack came even as the country's warring sides said they accepted a cease-fire proposed by the U.N. aimed at halting combat in the capital Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
during an upcoming Moslem holiday.

Health officials said the blast took place outside Arkan Mall in the Hawari neighborhood, where people were gathering for shopping a day before the Eid al-Adha
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
holiday begins. The Benghazi municipal council said the attack targeted a convoy for the U.N. Support Mission in Libya.

The site of the attack is close to offices of the mission in Libya. Two of the dead hailed from Libya and Fuji, and the blast maimed nine people, according to health officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief news hounds.

Stéphane Dujarric, a front man for U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres, said in a statement that three U.N. workers were among the maimed.

The U.N. Security Council held an emergency meeting late Saturday afternoon on the situation.

Assistant Secretary-General for Africa Bintou Keita told members the attack took place in an area "supposedly under full security control" of the Libyan National Army of Gen. Khalifa Hifter.

She said the attack "highlights the continued danger of terrorism across the country," and it confirms that the latest hostilities are creating a vacuum "easily exploited by radical elements that strive on chaos and violence."

Keita said the U.N. doesn't intend to evacuate from Libya and she expressed hope that both sides will abide by their commitment to the Eid cease-fire.

Footage circulated online shows what appears to be burnt U.N.-owned vehicles as thick smoke bellows into the sky.

No group immediately grabbed credit for the attack, which came just a month after two bomb-laden vehicles went off in Benghazi, the stronghold for the self-styled LNA. The July attack killed at least four people and maimed 33 others.

If it takes place, the upcoming cease-fire would be the first since the LNA launched a surprise military offensive on April 4 aimed at capturing Tripoli, ushering in fierce battles with militias loosely allied with a U.N.-supported but weak administration in the capital.

The battle for Tripoli has killed over 1,100 people, mostly combatants, and has displaced more than 100,000 civilians. Thousands of African migrants colonists captured by Libyan forces supported by the Europe

s and attacks by drones. An airstrike on one facility early last month killed more than 50 people ‐ many of whom were migrants colonists who died when a hangar collapsed on top of them.

Libya slid into chaos after the 2011 uprising that toppled and killed long-ruling dictator Muammar Qadaffy

. Armed groups have proliferated, and the country has emerged as a major transit point for migrants colonists fleeing war and poverty for a better life in Europe.

The LNA is the largest and best organized of the country's many militias, and enjoys the support of Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Russia. But it has faced stiff resistance from fighters aligned with the U.N.-recognized government, which is aided by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

Qureshi, Bilawal spend Eidul Azha in AJK to show solidarity with Kashmiri people
[DAWN] Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Wormtongue Qureshi
...a Pak political shape-changer. He is undistinguished except for his habit of periodically needing to have his lips reattached...
and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari arrived separately in Azad Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
's (AJK) capital Muzaffarabad on Sunday night to celebrate Eidul Azha and show solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

They offered Eid prayers alongside AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider in Muzaffarabad on Monday and will spend the festival in the region.

Later in a rally, Qureshi said he had come to Muzaffarabad to "congratulate" the Kashmiris because he had been "successful in securing the power of attorney" of China.

"They [Chinese government] have told me to tell Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
that China will stand with him when he presents Kashmir's case before the United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
," he told cheering supporters. Qureshi paid tribute to those soldiers who were martyred while defending the region and those who were protecting the Line of Control (LoC) even on the occasion of Eid. He also assured Kashmiri people of Pakistain's support.

He urged political parties to come together on the Kashmir issue, saying that Pakistain must have a united stance on the matter.

"We have our differences [...] But there is no difference on the issue of Kashmir. If there was any difference, a joint resolution would not have been passed."

#1  Raja Farooq Haider is not sleeping well these days, the provincial 'King' of an imaginary State whose time is nearing.

When someone high up in the BJP (Incumbent Govt in India) leadership recently announced the move for J&K, they included the entire area of PoK (Pak occupied Kashmir), the federal fief of Raja in "the ongoing plan" to consolidate the Indian Union.

In the longer term, India does have a desire to re-acquire these territories. Territories we've already won and gifted back twice. Some well-placed ideologues also push for breaking up the state of Pakistain into its four principal states. When these individuals speak, it's the voice of the Party speaking.

One million moved into camps, 184 dead in India monsoon floods
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Indian authorities have moved around a million people into emergency camps in recent days as the corpse count from monsoon floods jumped Monday to at least 184.

The southern state of Kerala, a tourist haven known for its beaches, hill resorts and backwaters, has been the worst hit region for the second consecutive year, forcing the closure of the Kochi international airport for three days last week.

"At least 76 people have died, 58 are missing and another 32 have received injuries," Pramod Kumar, Kerala police front man, told AFP.

Around 288,000 people across the state’s worst affected districts including Wayanad, Malappuram and Kozhikode have been moved to relief camps.

At least 42 people have also bit the dust in neighboring Karnataka state, which has seen some of its worst flooding of recent years.

"We have evacuated over 580,000 people," a senior Karnataka government official told AFP.

Many key highways and roads across the affected regions have been damaged or cut off by rising waters.

Local emergency personnel and troops from the army, navy and air force have been deployed for search, rescue and relief operations.

Indian media have also reported 66 deaths in the western states of Maharashtra and Gujarat
...where rioting seems to be a traditional passtime...
, with tens of thousands of people shifted to relief camps.

While the monsoon rains are crucial to replenishing water supplies in drought-stricken India, they kill hundreds of people across the country every year.

Last year Kerala was hit by its worst floods in almost a century with around 450 people killed.

#3  SCFI, the rains have affected the southern inland parts only. Large, forested plains and marshlands get completely submerged and the administrations that built the dams built them mostly on paper. The village people and small towns suffer as a result.

Long standing problem of socialist countries, embezzlement and corruption in the name of contracting. But the camps are duly provided by Army and the rescues and airlifts by Air Force. Despite hundred million $ budgets for proper dams and stuff, the poorest civilians wait every year to be hit by calamity. Farmers, tribes, villagers...

Over population and climate is also a reason. Just something that can't be helped. So we keep the rescue and shelter camps ready for such exigencies.

Not much I can say about India government system, but to say they will have to deal with the corruption somehow. there does seems to be some shining stars within the government, but whether or not those are enough, time will tell.

Uneasy calm in Indian Kashmir on Eid al-Adha
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An uneasy calm prevailed in Indian-administered Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. on Monday as people celebrated the major Islamic festival Eid al-Adha
...a major Moslem holiday, marked by animal sacrifice and ritual rioting...
during an unprecedented crackdown, after India moved to strip the disputed region of its constitutional autonomy and imposed an indefinite curfew.

All communications and the internet remained cut off for an eighth day Monday.

News reports say authorities will allow Eid al-Adha prayers at neighborhood mosques during the day but will not permit large congregations to avoid anti-India protests.

The security lockdown appeared aimed at avoiding a backlash in India’s only Moslem-majority region where most people oppose Indian rule. The restrictions had been briefly eased on Friday for residents to attend mosque prayers, and people also were allowed to shop for the Eid festival on Saturday and Sunday.

Magistrate Shahid Choudhary tweeted late Sunday that he held a meeting with religious leaders for prayer arrangements and visited several venues.

Also Sunday, as people were shopping in Srinagar, the main city in Indian-controlled Kashmir, the New Delhi Television News channel showed video of jeeps fitted with loudspeakers moving in the region after lunchtime, telling people to return to their homes and shopkeepers to shut markets. NDTV said the move may have been prompted by sporadic festivities that took place in Srinagar after the restrictions were relaxed on Saturday.

Thousands of additional troops were sent to the disputed Himalayan region before India’s Hindu nationalist-led government said last Monday that it was revoking Kashmir’s special constitutional status and downgrading its statehood.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in an address to the nation that the move would free the territory of "terrorism and separatism" and accused India’s archrival Pakistain of fomenting unrest.

Kashmir is claimed in full by both nations and divided between them, and rebels have been fighting Indian rule in the portion it administers for decades.

Paris attacks suspect charged over Brussels suicide bombings
[AlAhram] Salah Abdeslam, the sole surviving suspect in the November 2015 Gay Paree attacks, has been formally charged in connection with the Brussels suicide kabooms months later, federal prosecutors said Monday.

Abdeslam was charged with "participating in the activities of a terrorist group," the federal prosecutor's office told AFP, confirming reports in the Belgian media in recent days.

The prosecutor's office did not give details of his alleged role in the suicide kabooms at Brussels airport and a city metro station on March 22, 2016, which killed 32 people and maimed 340 others.

The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group grabbed credit for the attacks which occurred within an hour of each other.

Investigators say the attacks were ordered from Syria and organised by a French-Belgian cell in Brussels, which was also behind the November 13, 2015 attacks in Gay Paree that killed 130 people and maimed hundreds of others.

In April, a Belgian court sentenced Abdeslam to 20 years in prison over a shootout with police in Brussels that led to his capture days before the Brussels suicide kabooms.

Abdeslam, a Belgian-born French national who hails from the Brussels Molenbeek neighbourhood, is being held in jail in La Belle France pending a separate trial over the Gay Paree attacks.

Abdeslam is alleged to have dropped off three jacket wallahs at a Gay Paree sports stadium the evening of the November attacks before abandoning a suicide belt he was apparently going to detonate.

Before Abdeslam's indictment was confirmed in the Belgian capital, 12 people had been charged in connection with the Brussels bombings.

The defendants are due to be tried next year in the former NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
headquarters in the Belgian capital, which sources said could begin in the autumn of 2020 and last up to eight months.

Among the main defendants are Mohammed Abrini and Osama Krayem, who were arrested in April 2016.

Investigators say Abrini did not set off his suitcase bomb at Zaventem airport with the other two suicide bombers and was captured days later.

Abrini was filmed at a service station en route to Gay Paree just before the November 2015 attacks which were also claimed by Islamic State. Salah Abdeslam was seen with Abrini at the station.

Krayem was seen next to the suicide bomber at the metro station near EU headquarters in Brussels moments before the blast.

#1  The world is crazy. What is the point of charging people committed to violent suicide ? I'm all for giving the Abrini guy a sentence, but the rest of them, maybe in their mid 20s ?

The next generation will rue this catch-and-release circus. 20 years later the news will scream out headlines of a bloody massacre by these assholes who had 'once been jailed for extremism related offenses'.

He is understood to have kept a secret diary detailing his friendships with the rich and famous as an "insurance policy", according to the Mirror.

Former financier Epstein, 66, is believed to have killed himself in jail - days after being taken off suicide watch.

His death came hours after a Manhattan court released a 1,200-page dossier detailing lurid abuse allegations against him.

The explosive papers also named some of the world’s elite leaders and politicians.

They were unsealed in a legal tangle between Brit socialite Ghislaine Maxwell ‐ Epstein’s ex-lover ‐ and Virginia Giuffre.

Ms Giuffre has alleged that she was procured by "madame" Maxwell, 57, the daughter of disgraced tycoon Robert Maxwell, as a teenage "sex slave" for Epstein.

In previous court claims, she alleged she had sex Prince Andrew when she was a teen.

#2  The g-men are probably busy right now, forensics turned forgers hastily faking a diary with innocuous details so that the original one can be destroyed. The entirety of the deepState was in on Epstein's game. If the Clintons were involved, you can bet that everyone in the bureau brass to the DoJ knew and hid the fact.

Such antics and goings on are perks of the power they wield, or so goes the rationale in most bureaucrat and politician minds.

If there was a troublesome aspect to any of this enterprise, it was only the blackmail. If the DoJ came to be consolidated by Trumpers, and actionable, unassailable evidence ever fell into their hands, that was it for 2020. So, they saw a chance, starting with Acosta. When he resigned, they pressed on. Tried for the Mar-a-Lago angle, failed. After that, the machine took over. They decided to off him before he made another deal or maybe he uttered something to his watchers in the block.

After a decade of somnolence over the sexual exploitation of young girls, there arose a sudden urgency to arrest and try Epstein just now. Why ? And then to see him killed without any closure for victims or the public.

So far no one has seen any evidence, any discovered photos, anything... it's all just words. We just have to make do with the fact that a very bad man met his end.

#3  What dron said.
For g-d's sake, the man actually installed cameras throughout his playpens and then catalogued and labeled and carefully stored in his personal safes who knows how many videos of powerful wealthy people romping with underage girls.

This is fact. Blackmail is what this man did for a living.

Epstein even said so last week, directly and unashamedly, in a one on one meeting with the financial journalist James B. Stewart of the New York Times.

When, if ever, will law enforcement review and announce to the public the identities of the victims of this man's decades-long, tireless, systematic blackmail efforts?

Bernie Sanders staffers manhandle press at Iowa State Fair
[WashingtonExaminer] DES MOINES, Iowa ‐ A campaign staffer for Bernie Sanders was screamed at by a local photojournalist who was repeatedly shoved following the Vermont senator's remarks at the Iowa State Fair.

The confrontation erupted after members of the campaign relentlessly pushed the local journalists to make room for Sanders as he made his way to various attractions at the fair on Sunday.

The press pool erupted in chaos as Sanders left the campaign event, which was hosted by the Des Moines Register.

"Do not put your hands on me. You keep pushing me," the female photographer yelled at the staffer.

Another journalist asked if a different female reporter was okay after she was pushed by Sanders' campaign workers many times.

Security for the event, as well as members of Sanders' campaign, repeatedly grabbed and shoved members of the press. One staffer for the Des Moines Register pushed a gate into a reporter for the Washington Examiner after telling him that "not all press" would be allowed to follow Sanders around.

In the press office, numerous journalists complained about what they saw as appalling treatment of the press.

Following the scuffle, Sanders went on to buy (ya right) and consume a corn dog from a local vendor.

Johnson orders sentencing review for dangerous offenders
He’s hit the ground running.
[Rooters] British Prime Minister Boris Johnson launched an urgent review of sentencing of criminals on Sunday, aiming to keep law and order high on the political agenda after he promised 10,000 extra prison places and 20,000 more coppers.

The focus on crime and other domestic issues before Britannia is due to leave the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union on Oct. 31 has fuelled speculation that Johnson is planning to call an election.

The prime minister's office said on Sunday the review would focus on whether violent and sexual offenders were serving sentences that reflected the severity of their crimes.

Johnson, who replaced Theresa May last month, said that to ensure confidence in the system, the punishment must truly fit the crime.

"We have all seen examples of rapists and murderers let out too soon or people offending again as soon as they're released," he said in a statement.

"This ends now. We want them caught, locked up, punished and properly rehabilitated."

Johnson will host senior coppers and leaders from the probation and police services on Monday to discuss his plan.

Earlier on Sunday he announced another 10,000 prison places, at a cost of 2.5 billion pounds ($3 billion), and said police would be given more powers to stop and search the public.

British warship sets sail for tanker escort mission in Gulf
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] British warship HMS Kent set sail for the Gulf on Monday to join a US-led mission protecting commercial shipping vessels in the region amid heightened political tension between the West and Iran.

seized a British oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. On July 4 British marines seized an Iranian vessel, which is suspected of smuggling oil to Syria, off the coast of Gibraltar.

"Our focus in the Gulf remains firmly one of de-escalating the current tensions," said Andy Brown, the ship’s commanding officer.

"But we are committed to upholding freedom of navigation and reassuring international shipping, which this deployment on operations aims to do."

The deployment was first announced last month and will see the Kent relieve another British ship, the Duncan, already working in the region.

The US and the UK have announced an "international maritime security mission" to protect merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions, as P&O Cruises has cancelled cruises around Dubai and the Arabian Gulf in response to Iran seizing foreign vessels.

, who apparently killed himself while in federal custody in Manhattan, was taken off suicide watch in late July at the request of his attorneys, according to a report.

The disgraced money manager was found unresponsive in his single-inmate cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center early Saturday and was declared dead at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.

Epstein had been meeting with his attorneys for up to 12 hours a day before they requested that he be taken off suicide watch, sources familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

He was found hanging by his neck about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, a source has told The Post.

Epstein was taken off suicide watch ‐ which required a check every 15 minutes ‐ despite a July 23 incident in which he was found with injuries to his neck.

He had been downgraded to "special observation status," which required two guards to make separate checks on him every 30 minutes, but that procedure was not followed, a source has told Rooters.

Studies Prove Google Is Swinging 2020 AGAINST Trump, Biased Against Conservatives
[YouTube] A new study from Allsides, a non-partisan media bias checking organization, shows that nearly all of the top stories from Google on recent major news are from left wing sources, not even centrist.

Dr. Robert Epstein has been warning for years that Google and big tech will swing elections and choose who wins, whether on purpose or not. In 2013 Washington Post reported on the study, in 2015 WIRED Reported on the results showing it can and will happen. Recently Dr. Epstein recently testified in front of Ted Cruz saying that at minimum Google generated 2.6 Million votes for Hillary Clinton and the Democrats.

There is now ample evidence that whether intentional or not Google and other big tech platforms are biased against conservatives and to a lesser extent moderates and that this will swing elections in the future. The search tends to generate left wing news outlets and news in favor of far left and social justice narratives while censoring those who speak out against establishment politics.

Yet even after leaked emails, former employees blowing the whistle, and now studies backing this up the left and far left still insist that there is no evidence of the bias against conservatives.

So let me say definitively, big tech and Google are biased against conservatives. Whether its an unintentional or intentional bias is irrelevant. The impact is obvious and the results are clear.

I'd beat someplace in all those federal statutes, there is something to execute against them to include suspension of trade on the stock exchange.

Explosion heard in northern Gaza, two drones spotted crossing to Israel; Hamas keeps 2 at home
[Jpost] It is unclear what the source of the earth-shattering kaboom was, although preliminary reports claim that the earth-shattering kaboom was caused by an explosive balloon.

A loud explosion was heard in northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip on Monday night, according to Paleostinian media reports, after IDF forces have reportedly identified two drones that crossed from Gaza to Israeli territory and back.

It is unclear what the source of the earth-shattering kaboom was, although preliminary reports claim that the earth-shattering kaboom was caused by an explosive balloon.

The two drones that crossed the Gaza border were reportedly spotted by IDF forces who did not react to the drones, but observed them crossing the border for a short while and then crossing back.

IDF forces arrested one Paleostinian who crossed the Gaza border fence earlier on Sunday night carrying a knife and two bullets. The Paleostinian was taken for further investigation.

Hamas arrests 2 Gazans attempting to infiltrate into Israel - report

[Jpost] Two Gazook teens were arrested by Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbung millipede, forces after they attempted to infiltrate into Israel on Monday evening, according to Paleostinian reports, Channel 13 reported.

An IDF vehicle fired towards a Hamas position on Monday evening as well.

#5  I don't get the second news.

As far as I can tell, Dron66046, Gazan yoots break out when they want to commit mayhem (in which case they go armed), when they just need a break in someplace sane from the nonsense back home, when they’re hungry, or when they have something interesting to share. Many of them just need a bit of a break.
