Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Two PIJ commanders killed in IDF strike in central Gaza, IDF and Shin Bet say
[IsraelTimes] Thursday airstrike targeted command post embedded in humanitarian zone; military says it also struck two former schools housing Hamas command sites in Gaza City

...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
battalion commanders were killed in a recent Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, the IDF and Shin Bet announced Saturday.

Also on Saturday, the IDF said it had carried out airstrikes on command rooms operating from two former schools in Gaza City.

A Thursday strike on the battalion commanders targeted a command room embedded within the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, according to the military.

Several terror operatives were killed in the strike, including Abdullah Khattab, the commander of PIJ’s South Deir al-Balah Battalion, and Hatem Abu al-Jidyan, the commander of PIJ’s East Deir al-Balah Battalion, the IDF and Shin Bet said.

The IDF said Khattab had overseen his battalion during the October 7 onslaught and was involved in numerous attacks on Israel and troops, including rocket fire and anti-tank fire.

Abu al-Jidyan also advanced numerous attacks against troops amid the ongoing fighting.

To mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, the IDF said it carried out "many steps," including using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

"This is another example of the systematic use by the terror organizations in the Gaza Strip of the population and civilian infrastructure, including the humanitarian zone, to carry out terror acts against the state and IDF troops," the military added.

As for the Saturday strikes on the schools, according to the military, Hamas was using the Amr Ibn al-Aas School in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood to plan and carry out attacks against troops and Israel.

"Three deaders and more than 20 maimed people were retrieved after an Israeli warplane fired two missiles at a prayer room and a classroom at the Amr Ibn al-Aas School, where refugees were sheltering in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in northern Gaza City," Mahmud Bassal, front man for Gaza’s civil defense agency, told AFP.

In the other strike, the military said Hamas was using the Halima al-Sadia School in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood to plan and carry out attacks against troops and Israel.

At least 8 Paleostinians were killed, the Paleostinian Authority’s official news agency WAFA reported.

The IDF earlier said in a statement it had "conducted a precise strike on bully boyz who were operating inside a Hamas command and control center... embedded inside a compound that previously served as the ’Halima al-Sa’diyya’ School in the northern Gaza Strip." It said Hamas "systematically violates international law, brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the population as a human shield for terror activity."

Wafa said the dead were in refugee tents inside the former school.

The IDF also said it carried out "many steps" to mitigate casualties in those strikes.

In recent months, dozens of airstrikes have been carried out against Hamas sites embedded within schools and other sites used as shelters for civilians, according to the IDF.

In central Gaza’s urban refugee camp of Nuseirat, al-Awda Hospital said it received the bodies of nine people killed in two separate air raids. One hit a residential building, killing four people and wounding at least 10, while five people were killed in a strike on a house in western Nuseirat.

Separately, al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, central Gaza’s main hospital, said a woman and her two children were killed in a strike on a house in the nearby urban refugee camp of Bureij.

The military did not immediately comment on those incidents.

The IDF also released footage Saturday from a recent engagement with button men in the Tel Sultan neighborhood of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, when troops raided a building where a group of terror operatives were holed up. Amid the raid, the button men hurled a grenade at the troops, wounding at least one of the soldiers.

The IDF said the troops returned fire, killing the button men. On their bodies, the soldiers found weapons and documents, the military added.

In recent days, the IDF said troops have killed dozens of button men in Tel Sultan.

case in around 25 years. Limited pauses in the fighting have allowed the campaign to proceed.

UN officials said they were making progress, having reached over half of the children needing the drops in the first two stages in the southern and central Gaza Strip.

On Sunday, the campaign will move to the northern Gaza Strip. A second round of vaccination will be required four weeks after the first.

Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

Dozens of rockets fired at north as Israeli jets hit Hezbollah launchers in Lebanon
[IsraelTimes] None hurt in repeated attacks throughout day, but home damaged and fire sparked; several drones intercepted in Upper Galilee; Lebanon claims 3 emergency workers killed in strike

In a morning barrage, the Israel Defense Forces said around 30 projectiles were fired from Lebanon toward the Meron area. All of the rockets impacted open areas, the military said.

Later on Saturday, a barrage of rockets was fired from Lebanon at the Western Galilee. Some of the rockets were intercepted by air defenses, according to the IDF.

Others struck the community of Shlomi, causing damage to a home, and some struck open areas near Liman, sparking a fire.

Another barrage of five rockets was later fired from Lebanon at the Safed area, striking open areas, the military said.

There were no casualties in Saturday’s attacks.

In the evening, the IDF said it struck a Hezbollah rocket launcher in southern Lebanon’s Aynata used in the attack on Safed.

In addition, infrastructure and a launcher were targeted in southern Lebanon’s Qabrikha that were used to fire rockets at Israel on Saturday.

Separately, several drones were launched from Lebanon Saturday evening at the Upper Galilee. The IDF said they impacted in northern Israel, causing no injuries.

Earlier in the day, the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terror group took responsibility for a string of attacks on Israeli troops and positions near the border, including with Katyusha rockets, some in stated response to "Israeli enemy attacks" on south Lebanon.

The army also said strikes were carried out overnight on a Hezbollah rocket launcher, publishing footage of the strikes.

Lebanon’s health ministry said three emergency personnel putting out fires in south Lebanon were killed and two others maimed in an Israeli strike Saturday.

"Israeli enemy targeting of a Lebanese civil defense team that was putting out fires sparked by the recent Israeli strikes in the village of Froun led to the martyrdom of three emergency responders," the Lebanese health ministry said in a statement.

Two others were maimed, one of them critically, the statement said, adding, however, that the toll was provisional.

There were no immediate comments from the IDF on the strike.

The health ministry "condemns this blatant Israeli attack that targeted a team from an official body of the Lebanese state," the Lebanese statement said.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati blasted Saturday’s attack, saying "this new aggression against Lebanon is a blatant violation of international laws... and human values."

Hezbollah issued a statement saying it launched a "squadron of missiles" in response to the Faroun attack, targeting an Israeli military headquarters.

The terror group operates freely in Lebanon, unhindered by the nation’s military.

Hezbollah ally the Amal movement said two of its members were among the dead. It said they were killed "while carrying out their humanitarian and national duty defending Lebanon and the south."

Palestinian vehicle hits police car in West Bank; IDF says a deliberate attack
[IsraelTimes] Driver arrested after incident at Eli gas station; none hurt

A Palestinian vehicle collided with a police car in the West Bank Saturday in what the Israeli army said was a deliberate attack.

The collision happened at the Eli gas station, the scene of a number of previous terror attacks.

"A Paleostinian vehicle accelerated toward a police car and collided with it. There were no casualties," the Israel Defense Forces said.

The assailant "was caught by IDF troops" and arrested, it added.

The alleged attack follows several others in the West Bank in recent days.

The incidents came amid major ongoing counterterrorism operations by the Israel Defense Forces in several West Bank cities. The IDF operations were launched in the wake of an attempted suicide kaboom in Tel Aviv in August, also claimed by Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
Since October 7, troops have arrested some 5,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,000 affiliated with Hamas.

According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 670 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or faceless myrmidons carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 29 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another six members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Paris charges couple in Iranian plot targeting Jews in France, Germany
[IsraelTimes] Authorities claim Iranian spies recruited locals to attack ex-employee of Israeli security firm and others in Gay Paree, Munich and Berlin, set fire to Israeli-owned businesses

A Gay Paree court in May detained and charged a couple on accusations that they were involved in Iranian plots to kill Israelis and Jews in Germany and La Belle France, police sources told AFP.

Authorities charged Abdelkrim S., 34, and his partner Sabrina B., 33, on May 4 with conspiring with a criminal terrorist organization and placed them in pre-trial detention.

The case, known as "Marco Polo" and revealed Thursday by French news website Mediapart, signals a revival in Iranian state-sponsored terrorism in Europe, according to a report by La Belle France’s General Directorate for Internal Security consulted by AFP.

"Since 2015, the Iranian [secret] services have resumed a assassination policy," the French security agency wrote, adding that "the threat has worsened again in the context of the Israel-Hamas

The alleged objective for Iranian intelligence was to target civilians and sow fear in Europa

is accused of recruiting criminals, including drug lords, to conduct such operations.

Abdelkrim S. was previously sentenced to 10 years behind bars over a killing in Marseille and released on probation in July 2023.

He is accused of being the main La Belle France-based operative for an Iran-sponsored terrorist cell that planned acts of violence in La Belle France and Germany.

A former fellow inmate is believed to have connected the suspect with the cell’s coordinator, a major narco from the Lyon area who likely visited Iran in May, according to the DGSI.

The group intended to attack a Gay Paree-based former employee of an Israeli security firm and three of his colleagues residing in the Gay Paree suburbs.

Three Israeli-German citizens in Munich and Berlin were also among the targets.

Investigators believe that Abdelkrim S. made multiple trips to Germany for scouting purposes, despite his probation, including travels to Berlin with his wife.

He denied the accusations and said he simply had purchases to make.

French authorities are also crediting the cell with plots to set fire to four Israeli-owned companies in the south of La Belle France between late December 2023 and early January 2024, said a police source.

Abdelkrim S. rejected the claims, the source added, saying he had acted as a go-between on the Telegram messaging app for the criminal mastermind and other individuals involved in a planned insurance scam.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Netanyahu after 3 Israelis killed in Allenby Bridge attack: In the Middle East, without the sword, there is no forever
[IsraelNationalNews] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the deadly shooting attack in which three Israeli civilians were murdered at the Allenby Crossing during the weekly Cabinet meeting on Sunday.

""This is a difficult day. An abhorrent terrorist murdered three of our citizens in cold blood at the Allenby Bridge. On behalf of the Government and myself, I send condolences to the families of those who were murdered.," Netanyahu said. "We are surrounded by a murderous ideology led by Iran's axis of evil."

"In recent days, abhorrent terrorists murdered six of our hostages and three Israel Police officers in cold blood. The murderers do not differentiate between us. They want to murder us all, right and left, secular and religious, Jews and non-Jews, until the last one," he said.

Netanyahu stated that "what prevents the destruction of our people, as in previous times, is the strength of the State of Israel and the power of the IDF: Our soldiers' spirit of heroism, the police officers, the men and women of our security forces, the supreme sacrifice of our fallen heroes and the stamina of our people — these make all the difference. When we stand together, our enemies cannot overcome us; therefore, their main objective is to divide us and to sow discord among us."

The Prime Minister then spoke of Hamas' psychological warfare strategy against Israel. "Last weekend, the German newspaper Bild published an official Hamas document that revealed its action plan: To sow discord among us, to use psychological warfare on the hostages' families, to apply internal and external political pressure on the Government of Israel, to tear us part from within, and to continue the war until further notice, until Israel is defeated."

"The great majority of Israel's citizens are not falling into this Hamas trap. They know that we are fully committed to achieving the objectives of the war: To eliminate Hamas, to return all of our hostages, to ensure that Gaza never again constitutes a threat to Israel and to return our residents in the north and south securely to their homes," he said. "We will stand together. We will wield the sword of David together and with G-d's help, we will win."

"One more word. There are those who ask — 'Shall the sword devour forever?' . In the Middle East, without the sword, there is no 'forever'."." Netanyahu concluded

3 Israelis killed in terror shooting at crossing between West Bank and Jordan

[IsraelTimes] Jordanian terrorist drives truck from Jordan, opens fire at Allenby Bridge workers and then is shot dead; IDF rules out vehicle was rigged with explosives

Three Israeli men were killed in a terrorist shooting attack at the Allenby Bridge Crossing between Jordan and the West Bank on Sunday morning, authorities said.

The attack was carried out by a Jordanian truck driver who had arrived from Jordan. The crossing, also known as the King Hussein Bridge, is the West Bank’s sole crossing with Jordan.

The three victims were named Yohanan Shchori, 61, a father of six from the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Efraim, Yuri Birnbaum, 65, from the settlement of Na’ama, and Adrian Marcelo Podzamczer, from the settlement city of Ariel.

According to the military and Israel Airports Authority officials — the latter of which manages the land crossing — the gunman got out of the truck he was driving during an inspection at the terminal and shot up several of the crossing’s workers, killing three.

IAA security guards returned fire at the terrorist, killing him.

He was identified by Israeli security sources as Maher Dhiab Hussein al-Jazi, 39, a Jordanian national from the southern Jordan town of Udhruh, east of Petra.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics treated the three men at the scene, but were forced to declare their deaths.

The Israel Defense Forces described the shooting as a terror attack. It published an image of the handgun used by the terrorist.

IDF sappers dispatched to the scene later ruled out suspicions that the truck in which a terrorist arrived had been rigged with explosives, the military said.

both welcomed the attack.

Hamas hailed the attacker as "one of Jordan’s brave men."

On its Telegram channel, the PIJ described the attacker as a "hero" and said the assault is an "expression of the sentiments of the Jordanian people and the Arab and Moslem peoples towards the brutal massacres committed by the enemy."

"This heroic attack and similar ones are the only response that the American administration understands," the statement added, accusing the United States of being an "accomplice" to Israel.

Israeli and Jordanian authorities both announced that the crossing had been closed until further notice following the deadly shooting attack.

The Jordanian interior ministry also said that authorities had begun an investigation into the attack.

The IAA said that in addition to the closure of Allenby Bridge, the other land crossings with Jordan — the Rabin Crossing near Eilat and the Jordan River Crossing near Beit She’an — were closed at the request of security authorities.

Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994 and have close security ties. Dozens of trailers cross daily from Jordan, with goods from Jordan and the Gulf that supply both the West Bank and Israeli markets.

Paleostinians can only use the Allenby Bridge Crossing to enter Jordan from the West Bank, while Israelis generally use the Rabin and Jordan River crossings.

Organizers claim largest-ever rally in Tel Aviv as calls for hostage deal intensify
[IsraelTimes] Groups behind demonstrations estimate 500,000 at main protest, 250,000 at other rallies around country; police scuffle with activists blocking roads, arrest five
As always, figure the actual number is between half an order of magnitude less.
A crowd said to number in the hundreds of thousands erupted into the streets in Tel Aviv to rally for the release of hostages in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Saturday night, amid ballooning protests demanding the government strike a ceasefire deal with the Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
terror group to secure the release of captives kidnapped exactly 11 months earlier.

With masses seething over the recent execution of six hostages who might have been freed in an exchange, and with the one-year anniversary of the October 7 massacre swiftly approaching, masses gathered in cities around the country to demonstrate against the government and press their case for a hostage deal.

Protest organizers estimated that 500,000 people attended the flagship rally in Tel Aviv, organized by the Hostage Families Forum — an estimate they claimed was confirmed by police. They said another 250,000 demonstrated in other areas around the country.

If true, the Tel Aviv rally would mark the largest-ever demonstration in Israel’s history.
It sounds like the Times of Israel doesn’t believe the claim either., but does not want to openly contradict them.
Police announced that they detained five protesters at the Tel Aviv rally, but did not comment on crowd size.
They would have confirmed if it were true.
Simultaneous protests were held in cities and at major intersections around the country, including Jerusalem, Haifa, Rishon Lezion, Beersheba, Netanya and elsewhere, with organizers claiming tens of thousands in some places.
If Donald Trump wins in November, payments to the cadres from the US Stated Department will stop. The window appears to be closing.
The protests, massive by any account, capped a week that saw major nightly demonstrations following the recovery of the bodies of six Israeli hostages from a tunnel in the southern Gazook city of Rafah.

Autopsies revealed that Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lobanov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 27, had been murdered just days earlier, sparking renewed denunciations against the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over its inability to agree to a deal freeing them and scores of other hostages who remain in Gaza, as well as the bodies of dozens of others.

As with previous protests, the demonstration in Tel Aviv was marked by scuffles with police and attempts by activists to block major roads, including the Ayalon freeway.
Antifa tactics.
Despite widespread criticism for not making more concessions in pursuit of a deal, Netanyahu has dug in on his position that Israel maintain an ongoing security presence on the Philadelphi Corridor, along the Gaza-Egypt border — reportedly a major sticking point in the ongoing negotiations with Hamas.

The large crowd size was partly the result of a decision by the Hostage Families Forum to merge its weekly Saturday night rally with anti-government protests held in parallel outside Defense Ministry headquarters for months. It was the first time the rallies formally joined together, as families fumed over what critics have said is government abandonment.
Combining forces suggest each alone is too small to impress…
"I think even those who were maybe reluctant to go out, who are not used to protest, who are sad but prefer to be in private space within their sadness, understood our voice must join together to one huge scream: Bring the hostages with a deal. Do not risk their lives," said one protester in Tel Aviv, Efrat Machikawa, niece of hostage Gadi Moses.

After the rallies merged, demonstrators marched on Begin Street, where they lit a bonfire that was repeatedly extinguished by police and then rekindled.
”See us destroy all you worked for.” That’s the anarcho part of anarcho-communist syndicalists.
Protesters also blocked the Ayalon Highway, a regular occurrence on the lam protests in Tel Aviv, as well as the junction of Namir and Pinkas streets.

Police said the fires and roadblocks were the work of a "small cadre of protesters" after most demonstrators dispersed, accusing them of fighting with cops.

Most protesters had left the scene by 11:30 p.m.

Among those arrested was a minor who crossed the street after police said to clear off of it. The minor’s friend began arguing with the officer, and was shoved aside by other officers. In another instance, police appeared to choke a detainee.

Officers who dragged detainees toward the nearby Azrieli Towers were frequently followed by angry protesters chanting: "Officer! Officer! Whom are you protecting?"

Police also stepped in to break up scuffles between demonstrators and a group of far-right youth holding a counter-protest. Many right-wing groups have lined up behind Netanyahu, arguing that Israel should press its offensive aimed at destroying the Hamas terror group rather than try to free the hostages via a ceasefire agreement.

Police in Haifa, where thousands demonstrated for a deal, were accused of using excessive force as they cleared activists blocking Frued Street, with video showing protesters being thrown into a barbed wire placed near the road.

At least two protesters reportedly sought medical attention due to injuries allegedly caused by police.

In Caesarea, anti-government protesters gathered near one of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private residences, calling for his ouster.

In Jerusalem, demonstrators gathered outside the prime minister’s residence in the capital, carrying yellow flags representing the movement for the release of the hostages.

Chanting "the regime’s lies won’t bring about security," protesters in Jerusalem called for an end to the war, the downfall of the government, and another general strike to build up economic pressure for a deal.
What they really want is the downfall if the government. The rest of the temper tantrum is about whatever will motivate the rubes at the moment.

Over 100 detained at hostage deal protests in past week, all ordered released by courts

[IsraelTimes] Arrests accompanied by apparent escalation in police violence at demonstrations; regional commander said to have ordered police to send ‘everyone to the cells’.

One of those arrested during the week, Michal Deutsch — who, according to Haaretz report from early July, holds the national record in arrests at anti-government protests — was held at the Neve Tirtza Women’s Prison until Friday after she would not agree to sign off on the police’s demand she stay away from illegal protests for two months.
Sounds like an Antifa cadre, or bucking to be one.

Used to be, it often was. The punishment varied from being murdered by savage Indians, eaten by bears, walking off a cliff, cutting your foot off with an axe, or starving in the winter. Nowadays, we have either removed most of the hazards or insulated people from their choices.

Are there ever protests against Hamas? I'm picturing 1000s of people waving signs saying "Release the hostages or I will strangle you personally". Root causes, and all that.

US Intel Undercuts DOJ's 'Foreign Interference' Claim Used To Smear Conservative Pundits
[ZeroHedge] The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) announced Friday that it has not “observed” any foreign interference only domestic in the 2024 election, seemingly undermining cynical remarks by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

The ODNI’s Foreign Malign Influence Center (FMIC) stated in a 2-page report that the intelligence community “has not observed any foreign actor seeking to interfere in the conduct of the 2024 elections.” Natalie Winters, a co-host of the Steve Bannon WarRoom podcast, first reported these findings.

Economy
Great Replacement Job Shock: 1.3 Million Native-Born Americans Just Lost Their Jobs, Replaced By 635,000 Immigrants
[ZeroHedge] At the start of the year, many months after we first pointed out that the biggest untold story of the US labor market was the "great replacement" of native born workers with foreign-born workers (most of whom we subsequently learned were undocumented immigrants, i.e., illegal aliens), we asked how is it, that the ongoing replacement (because that's what it is) of US workers is "not the biggest political talking point right now" considering that "since October 2019, native-born US workers have lost 1.4 million jobs; over the same period foreign-born workers have gained 3 million jobs"

Eight months later, we are delighted to see that our relentless efforts to bring attention to this critical topic finally worked, and the continued replacement of native-born workers with immigrants and illegal aliens was finally the biggest political and media talking point, as demonstrated by such articles as "How Immigration Remade the U.S. Labor Force" by the WSJ and "Without Immigrants, US Working-Age Population Would Shrink" from Bloomberg, both of which are an extension of the latest and greatest narrative, first spawned by Fed chair Powell, and then picked up by Goldman, which came down to the following: you can have (record) illegal immigration, or you can have even more (breakneck) inflation. So don't be angry, and just accept the roving gangs of Venezuelan murderers in your neighborhood, if you know what's good for you and if you want to keep prices low (the same prices which are only high because the government decided to inject $20 trillion in fiscal stimmies in the past 4 years).

Which brings us to today's jobs report... where the native vs foreign-born debate just exploded!

As we discussed earlier, superficially the August payrolls report was a mixed bag. On one hand, it was disappointing in that the payrolls print came in softer than expected, but was a big bounce from sharply downward revised June and July prints. On the other hand, the unemployment rate did drop from the Sahm Rule's recession trigger level of 4.3% to 4.2%, and effectively eliminated the clear cut case for a 50bps rate cut, especially since the Household survey was not only far stronger than the Establishment survey, but indicated the biggest increase in employment since March.

That, at least, was the quantitative view. And while that was mixed, there was no confusion in the picture painted by the qualtitative aspect of the jobs report. Here, everything was a disaster.

Starting at the top, while the number of employed workers did rise by 168K, looking closer at the composition of this increase is disastrous: that's because it consisted of an increase of 527K part-time jobs, offset by a 438K plunge in full-time jobs.

This means that since last June, the US has added just over 2 million part-time jobs, and lost over 1.5 million full-time jobs.

#1  not 'just lost their jobs'

this has been occurring since the baby boomers began retiring in significant numbers about 2015 or so

the loss of full time and gain of part time is not fully understood but it is probably due, at least in part, to flexible work place, to full timers becoming contractors and to expansion of gig work, e.g. instacart, uber, etc.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Police Warn of Venezuelan Gang Crime in Wisconsin
[Breitbart] Wisconsin police reported that a suspected Venezuelan gang member was arrested and charged with the sexual and physical assault of a woman.

Alejandro Jose Coronel Zarate, 26, was charged with two counts of domestic battery, two counts of second-degree sexual assault, physically abusing a child, disorderly conduct, domestic disorderly conduct, and strangulation/suffocation, the Prairie du Chien Police Department announced in a post on Facebook.

Zarate, who is suspected of being affiliated with a “violent transnational criminal organization” called Tren de Aragua, was arrested and booked into the Crawford County Jail after police officers responded to reports that a suspect was being “physically and sexually violent” with an adult woman.

“A female juvenile was also located and found to have been injured during the physical altercation that took place,” police noted.

“Mr. Coronel Zarate was brought to Prairie du Chien from the Dane County area,” Chief of Police Kyle Teynor said in a statement:

The victims in this case knew Mr. Coronel Zarate, this was not a random event. This incident highlights the need to be aware of the dangers that affiliates of these transactional criminal organizations pose to our communities. Violence towards others, no matter the circumstances, cannot be tolerated in our community. Our agency remains committed to holding violent actors accountable for their criminal offences [sic].

Tren de Aragua is a transnational crime organization known for criminal activities including “homicide, abduction, extortion, drug trafficking, arms/weapons trafficking, human smuggling, and human trafficking.”

As Breitbart News has previously reported, Tren de Aragua has been terrorizing several cities in the United States, including Chicago, Illinois; Atlanta, Georgia; Dallas, Texas; and Miami, Florida.

Authorities from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office in Chicago, Illinois, reportedly confirmed the presence of Tren de Aragua’s gang members in the city since at least October 2023 — weeks after the “raid” of Tocoron.

In the months following the “raid,” other U.S. cities began reporting criminal acts linked to the gang. U.S. authorities have confirmed the active presence of Tren de Aragua in other cities, such as Miami, New York, Dallas, and Atlanta. According to internal documentation from the Department of Homeland Security, Tren de Aragua has given the “green light” to its members to attack U.S. law enforcement officers.

Shock & Awe Dick Slithers Out Of His Neocon Lair To Endorse Kamala Over 'Depraved' Trump
[ZERO] Look who slithered out of his neocon lair of no regrets to publicly endorse Democrat Kamala Harris for president. Former Vice President and "lifelong Republican" Dick Cheney announced Friday that he will vote for Biden's VP over Republican candidate Donald Trump, issuing a stern warning to the public that the former president "can never be trusted with power again."

The blood-curdling pot meet kettle irony of that statement coming from Dick-shock-and awe-Cheny aside... it's entirely to be expected in a post-"Global War on Terror" world (apparently everyone conveniently forgot) where GW Bush regularly pals around with the likes of Ellen DeGeneres.

83-year old Cheney said in his statement: "In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump."

Had we elected the other guy, we would have lost before we started, so I am infinitely glad my guy lost in 2000. John McCain would not have been much better than Barack Obama, unfortunately, and although I can see Mitt Romney rising to the challenge had he got in, he would only have been better than rather than actually good.

But they all disliked those declassé TEA Partiers, and that’s been the Republican Party trend — Donald Trump is just the latest incarnation thereof.

Ga School was pre-warned of the school by shooters Mother
[WSB radio] It seems there is proof the school was called and warned before the shooting took place. Depending on the sources it ranges from the media 30 mins, or 1st boots on the ground saying over 1 hr.

A few things the boots also said, but has not been officially verified yet. Is 3 other teens were also arrested.

A few comments raised were along the lines of:
Why was the AR-15 was laid out in clear view like for a photo op?

Given the prior warning, why wasn't the School Shooter procedure properly followed?

Why were students crowded in large groups, as the Drone Pic's show.

The general thought being tossed around was.
Was this a semi-staged event?
Given the displayed AR-15, and a School shooting in a Swing state, all just 65+/- days before election.

#3  So lets say this is fact, she called. For a school to ignore it one of a couple truths must be in play. First, whoever answered the phone is completely incompetent and could care less. Of all the years my kids were in school, the gals in the office were always on the ball. Maybe we got lucky, but they were all caring. Second, and more likely is they get call from frantic parents all day long and this one did not rise above the usual calls. I would ask, how many times has this parent called about her son? Probably so many times the office worker was numb to her calls and this one time it was real. It will, hopefully, all come out. But right now lets stick with the narrative, mom was a drug addicted drunk, dad was a gun nut that put the gun in the kids hand, and the kid was gay wanting transition. This narative is the go to playbook for the FBI and media. It ight be true in this instance, just like the moms phone call, but its a little hard to believe day one...

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Texts from Georgia school shooter's mother reveal she warned of 'extreme emergency' minutes before her son opened fire
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The mother of suspected Apalachee High School shooter Colt Gray told her family that she called her son's school to warn them of an 'extreme emergency' on the morning that he allegedly killed four people.

Marcee Gray, the alleged shooter's mother, was seen in text messages shared by The Washington Post telling her family: 'I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and find [my son] to check on him.'

The outlet reported that a call log from the family's shared phone plan shows Gray made a 10-minute call to the school at 9:50am on Wednesday, about half an hour before Colt allegedly opened fire.

Marcee's father, Charles Polhamus, told The New York Post that Colt had delivered an apology to his mother via text message prior to the shooting, prompting her to call the school.

'I’m sorry, mom,' the text read.

Marcee then hopped in her car and started driving toward the school, more than three hours away. But about half way there she learned that the tragedy she was racing to prevent had already taken place.

A counselor at the school told Marcee that her son had been talking about school shootings that morning, according to Gray's sister Annie Brown who spoke to The Post.

Soon after the shooting began, reports surfaced that Apalachee High School received a warning that the tragedy could unfold.

In reported texts sent by Marcee, she told her family: 'I was the one that notified the school counselor at the high school.'

According to Brown, her sister called the school because she learned something concerning that made her fear an 'impending disaster', however it is not reported what it was that she learned.

Her sister Annie Brown said that Marcee was told by a counselor that her son was displaying disturbing behavior that morning, ominously talking about school shootings.

At the same time, one of Colt's classmates Lyela Sayarath - who previously shared a chilling account of how close she came to death - told the outlet that a school administrator went to find Colt in their class.

In her previous account to CNN, Sayarath said Colt was a serial class skipper and she assumed that was what he was doing when he left the classroom minutes before the administrator arrived.

However, there was some confusion as there was another student with a similar name to Colt's in the class. Neither was in the room, and the administrator left the room with the similarly named student's backpack.

Further text exchanges reported from Marcee's sister showed that Colt's school and family were also in contact regarding his deteriorating mental health at least a week before the shooting.

In one text, Brown reportedly told a relative that Colt was having 'homicidal and suicidal thoughts.'

'He shouldn’t have a gun, and he should’ve been in THERAPY months ago,' she added in the text.

Brown said that her nephew had spent months 'begging' for mental health help, but the 'adults around him failed him.'

Marcee was previously ordered by a court to have only limited contact with Colt's father Colin after she pleaded guilty in December to a charge of family violence.

The alleged gunman's parents split in 2022 after they were evicted, and the family had been involved in Georgia's child welfare agency during their turmoil.

Months later in May 2023, the family were visited by local law enforcement after receiving an FBI tip about threats to carry out a school shooting. Colt denied making the threats, and Colin told cops that he kept hunting rifles in the home but his son was not allowed to use them unsupervised.

Woman mutilates boyfriend with chainsaw in front of their child
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] An Alabama woman has been arrested for allegedly shooting and dismembering her partner with a chainsaw in the presence of their four-year-old child.

Joselina Elizabeth Lopez, 26, has been charged intentional murder of Benito Morales Guzman, 41, after authorities found his 'dismembered and decapitated' body at a house in Slocomb on August 27.

The search for Guzman began when his boss reported him missing last week, prompting authorities to visit his home he shared with Lopez.

On arrival, deputies noticed a 'strong odor of decomposition' - which they discovered was emitting from a Toyota Corolla filled with garbage bags nearby.

Detectives soon also discovered that the accused recently bought four electric chain saws from Lowe's and returned one.

'The chainsaw found in the vehicle still had human flesh on it,' arrest records read.

A gun was found in the house out of which five of the six cartridges were fired from the revolver. Two bullets were removed from Guzman's body.

As of now, SBI investigators believe that the accused shot Guzman five times, dismembered his body in nearly 15 pieces using a chainsaw and then stuffed him in trash bags to put in the trunk and back seat of the car.

Prosecutors and investigators suspect that their autistic child was present during the alleged killing.

Investigations also believe that the accused was planning to flee to Mexico - once they discovered a car seat, a packed diaper bag, the child's birth certificate and Lopez's passport in another car.

'Further, blood was found on the box of baby formula in the diaper bag,' court records said.

The accused is currently being kept at the Geneva County Jail, where she reportedly told a relative that 'I should have left earlier' during a phone conversation.
Ya think?
During a bond hearing, she told the judge that she was acting out of self defense after she and her family were 'threatened after Guzman supposedly owed someone money for drugs,' according to WDHN.

Lopez also told the court that the victim was attempting to isolate her from her family.

Jennifer Wilkerson, Guzman's ex-wife said that Lopez's claim was 'unbelievable' and that he would never try to distance her from her family.

#8  Tim Sheehy must earn the public’s trust (from May 2024)

Men and women presenting themselves as candidates to strengthen and uphold public trust in their elected representatives would do well to remember two things:

First, doing so immediately makes them a “public figure” defined as “someone who has taken on a prominent role in society or has inserted themselves into a public debate in order to influence its outcome” – such as politicians, actual or aspiring.

Second, a good communications adage to follow is, “Maximum disclosure, minimum delay.”

Candidate Tim Sheehy, wanting to be Montana’s next U.S. senator, seems to be having trouble with both....

Sheehy draws a distinction between the “fawning” (his word) news coverage of him and his Bridger Aerospace company before he announced for office and afterwards.

“The press turned against my businesses and has been trying to harm us every single day,” he said in an NBC Montana interview on April 29 that can be viewed on YouTube.

To blame for his difficulties, he named The Washington Post, the Montana Free Press, national online tabloid newspaper The Daily Beast, saying the latter two were not news organizations – at least in his mind.

Clearly uncomfortable in portions of the interview and asked to explain the Glacier Park gunshot incident, Sheehy launched into excessive detail about why his personal judgment outweighed standard operating procedure he was bound as the unit commander to follow.

There are other trust issues.

His “denial” of his paternal grandparents, for example....

There’s another curious situation surrounding the pinning by his new friend and Republican U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke of his Bronze Star Medal with “V” device for valor and his award of the Purple Heart for injuries suffered. Both speak to his heroism in combat; he recently posted online the award certificates and the Bronze Star citation.

His Bronze Star citation for “heroic achievement” is dated June 24, 2014, before he was separated from active duty in Hawaii. By custom, the military conducts such an award ceremony prior to a serviceperson’s separation or departure from a duty station. Sheehy’s resume shows he left Hawaii in October 2014, four months later.

The Purple Heart citation is dated June 5, 2015, when Sheehy was already in business in Belgrade. The citation was for wounds received in action on April 25, 2012, so it obviously was late in its issuance and appropriate for Zinke to present it to Sheehy on Aug. 27, 2015.

But the Bronze Star? Perhaps Lieutenant Sheehy can clear this up by clarifying whether his initial Bronze Star award ceremony was in Hawaii or whether its award was to highlight the Purple Heart – and his entry into Montana politics. Maximum disclosure and minimum delay applies.

And now it is up to the courts to determine the truth behind the breach of contract suit filed by two former employees in April against Sheehy and his brother Matthew.

-War on Police-
Cop Shot in U.S. Every 22 Hours This Year, Huge Increase During Biden-Harris Era, Says Police Union
[Breitbart] Under the watch of the Biden-Harris administration, a police officer in the United States has been shot every 22 hours this year, according to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). More than 260 law enforcement officers have been shot so far this year.

The War on Cops continues to rage in America,” FOP National Vice President Joe Gamaldi told Breitbart Texas. During the past two years, more than 630 law enforcement officers were shot. “We saw 378 officers shot last year, that is a 60 percent increase since 2018.”

“This year alone we have seen over 260 shot, and for reference that is one officer shot every 22 hours in America,” Gamaldi added.

The vice president of the national police union representing more than 377,000 law enforcement professionals told Breitbart that assaults on officers are also at a 10-year high.

“The causes are obvious,” Gamaldi stated, “a revolving door criminal justice system, 85 percent of cop killers have been arrested before, 71 percent are convicted felons, and because some politicians, media, and activists realized there was a dollar to be made trafficking in anti-police rhetoric, trying to convince the American public we are the enemy.”

Gamaldi expressed his frustration with the Biden-Harris administration’s lack of action or support. “To add insult to injury, we haven’t heard a peep from the Biden/Harris administration condemning this historic violence against law enforcement. The silence from the White House is deafening.”

“The brave men and women of law enforcement expect the leadership of this country to speak out against the violence, to not allow it to become the norm, and to support us,” Gamaldi continued. “So it was no surprise that the National FOP representing 378,000 police officers across this country endorsed Donald Trump for President of the United States…the true law and order candidate in the ballot.”

Forces surround embassy sheltering opposition figures
[BBC] Venezuelan security forces have surrounded the Argentine embassy in the capital Caracas, which is sheltering six Venezuelan political figures opposed to President Nicolás Maduro.

Members of the Venezuelan opposition posted images and videos of officers from the country’s intelligence service forming a perimeter around the embassy complex.

Opposition figures inside the building said they were under "siege" by Mr Maduro's regime.

The embassy, as well as Argentine interests in Venezuela, have been represented by Brazil since diplomatic relations between Argentina and Venezuela broke down over the summer due to the outcome of Venezuela's presidential election.

On Saturday, the Venezuelan government revoked Brazil's custody of the embassy, it said, in an apparent attempt to remove its diplomatic protection.

Argentina is among several countries to have disputed the official results of the presidential election, which gave Mr Maduro a third term.

Pedro Urruchurtu Noselli, an adviser to opposition leader María Corina Machado, who has been at the embassy since March, wrote on X that as of Saturday morning, there was "an increasing presence of hooded officials.

"They have closed off vehicular traffic on the street. We are still without electricity."
Meanwhile Omar Gonzalez Moreno, another opposition official, said that the embassy had been without electricity since Friday evening.

Meet the Jewish author who has written a pithier, punchier Project 2025
[IsraelTimes] Breaking away from mainstream US Jewry, Joel Pollak opposes the separation of church and state while dismissing concerns that his recommendations would spur ‘Christian nationalism’
Conservative Jew, conservative Republican, TEA party candidate, Breitbarter, believer in Donald Trump. An interesting, thoughtful gentleman.
The document recommends encouraging church attendance, White House Bible study sessions, shutting out legal immigrants colonists, restrictions on child sacrifice abortion, and Dire Revenge on Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
’s tormentors.

But it’s not part of Project 2025, the massive Heritage Foundation compilation of proposals for Trump’s next presidency that liberal critics have said is a blueprint for Christian nationalism.

Instead, "The Agenda: What Trump Should Do in His First 100 Days" is the work of a Jewish author, Joel Pollak, who believes that a second Trump presidency would make American Jews safer by restoring purpose to a splintered society.

One notable Jewish-inflected proposal, establishing August 21 as "Religious Liberty Day," would mark George Washington’s famous 1790 letter promising American Jews they would live under a government that "gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance."

"We’re losing the common threads that bind us together," Pollak told The Jewish Telegraphic Agency. "There’s no consciousness at all of any kind of higher power."

Pollak has since 2016 been one of the most articulate spokesmen making the Jewish case for the Republican Party’s right flank, heralding a breakaway from a Jewish conservatism that for decades was more identified with moderate Republicans like the late John Maverick McCain
... late Senator-for-Life from Arizona, former presidential candidate and even more former foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution. As an ordinary citizen he greased the infamous hookers peeing on the Obamabed in Moscow dossier in an attempt to smear President Trump...
In 2010, as a Tea Party candidate, Pollak challenged Rep. Jan Schakowsky
...the hereditary Democratic Representative-for-Life from Illinois 9th Congressional District. She is married to Robert Creamer, a Chicago check kiting artist who did time in a federal pen. Creamer was implicated in the bird dogging plot to stir up violence at Donald Trump rallies. Creamer is the co-founder of Democracy Partners, which contracts directly with the DNC to provide dirty election tricks. Creamer visited the White House 342 times between 2009 and 2016. Schakowsky plausibly denies knowing a thing about it and calls it a manufactured and non-existent scandal...
, the long-serving Jewish Democrat in a reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
-area seat.

His campaign in the heavily Jewish district where he grew up focused on what he depicted as her weak support for Israel, and he brought in his former Harvard Law professor, Alan Dershowitz, to campaign for him. Schakowsky won handily, but the experience got under her skin: Five years later she thanked J Street for helping her defeat a "Jewish Orthodox Tea Party Republican," and then apologized for the gratuitous reference to Pollard’s religious denomination.

After his defeat, he joined Breitbart News, the preeminent voice of a more hardline right-wing vanguard, working alongside other Jews including Ben Shapiro. Trump’s emergence as the Republican nominee in 2016 and his election made Pollak a go-to Jewish defender of Trump and the far-reaching changes he brought to conservatism.

He told The Times of Israel in 2017 that he was comfortable in his skin as an observant Jew on the Republican right. "There’s a comfort in a sense that I place who I am on the table and so people know where I am coming from, and it’s not a part of myself I have to introduce or explain," he said.

Now, Pollak is trying to use the following he has developed over time to shape what he hopes will be a second Trump presidency. He is bringing his ideas this week to the Republican Jewish Coalition confab in Las Vegas, where hundreds of Jewish Republicans will rally around retaking the White House.

One question facing Jewish Republicans is how much to focus on traditional concerns including Israel and how much to embrace a strain of Christian nationalism that is ascendant in their party. Pollak’s book does not make his Jewish identity central, but he applies considerable focus to Israel — and also to casting a Trump White House as a bully pulpit for the spread of religion in public life.

In 224 recommendations divided neatly into 32 clusters of seven, Pollak offers an agenda that comports with the right wing of the Republican Party and echoes a strain of conservative Jewish thinking that does not see expanded Christian expression as a threat. (That thinking featured large in the 2022 failed Ohio Senate campaign of Josh Mandel, a Jewish candidate who promoted "Judeo-Christian values.")

He would ban even legal migrants colonists from crossing the border with Mexico until changes are made to the immigration system. He would ban chain migration, the system of granting preference to relatives of legal US residents and citizens.

Pollak wants the Department of Justice to protect "birth crisis centers," the outlets that try to dissuade women from seeking child sacrifice abortions. He recommends a task force to promote childbearing and banning funding for military personnel seeking to travel to get an child sacrifice abortion. He also proposes ending "transgenderism" in the military.

Navigating between Trump’s endorsement of fertility treatments, including IVF, and those evangelical Christians who say the procedure involves destroying life, he says Trump should set up an ethics panel to "explore all of the difficult religious, scientific, and moral questions around IVF and make recommendations."

Pollak wants funding for religious literacy in public schools and vouchers for religious schools, and calls for launching civil rights investigations of universities that inhibit conservative speech. (Some of that jibes with the interests, or tactics, of subsets of American Jews: Vouchers would help defray costs for Jewish day schools, while federal civil rights complaints alleging antisemitism on campus have become a favored tool of American Jewish groups since October 7.)

And he proposes that White House functions should begin with a prayer, press briefings should begin with a moment of reflection and "the White House facility can hold daily Bible study events," ticketed for the public.

"The point will be to reinforce church attendance as a norm in American life and to bring faith back to the center," he writes. He adds, "These daily sessions will set an appropriate tone for the conduct of business in the White House and will encourage Bible study more generally throughout the country."

Pollak’s blueprint is one that would discomfit most American Jews, who according to polls overwhelmingly want a strong separation of church and state. And many of his proposals buck majority American Jewish opinion on issues such as child sacrifice abortion and immigration.

"I understand the historic concerns that American Jews have had about public prayer," Pollak told JTA. "People worry that there’s going to be imposition of Christian faith on Jews and others."

But he said he thought his audience was ready for his recommendations, saying, "I do think that we’re at a point in American society where most Jews can be comfortable with public prayer."

Amy Spitalnick, the CEO of the liberal-leaning Jewish Council for Public Affairs, said Pollak’s book is a recipe for what most American Jews would identify as Christian nationalism.

"It effectively reinforces the broader white Christian nationalist agenda that seeks to totally eliminate the line between church and state," she said. "It’s Project 2025, just with a Jewish lens."

Seth Mandel, a senior editor at Commentary, a conservative outlet, said Project 2025 came to mind when he heard about Pollak’s book. But he said fears of a Christian nationalist regime if Trump were elected are overstated.

"The first thing that popped into my head was that this sounds like what people are warning about Project 2025," Mandel said. "If Trump has any authoritarian instincts, they are generally not about forcing women into becoming a sort of religious baby-making covenant. It’s not where his campaign wants to go at all."

Mandel said he thought the public prayer elements of Pollak’s prescription would appeal little to Americans, much less American Jews, who are largely uncomfortable with the idea of presidents using the bully pulpit to preach. It’s what turned Americans off to Jimmy Malaise Carter

...only the second worst president ever. Maybe the third...
, whose 1979 speech about a "crisis of the American spirit" and a lack of "faith in God" backfired and helped spur his electoral defeat, Mandel said.

"People really reacted negatively to the idea that there was going to be a preacher-in-chief, who is going to tell them how to cure what ails their soul," Mandel said. "There’s nothing wrong with Bible study, but Americans don’t really tend to want the president to lead their Bible study group."

In the interview, Pollak recognized that his plan would draw comparisons with Project 2025.

"I didn’t even look at the Heritage Foundation Project 2025," he said without being asked while promoting the new book at the Republican National Convention last month.

Pollak has no illusions that Trump would read his book or take his recommendations. It’s a recognition he makes clear in his book and reiterates in interviews, and which distinguishes him from the Project 2025 authors who played up their associations with Trump until he shut them down, furious at the negative publicity the project was garnering.

"I have never been invited to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida estate, where he has surrounded himself with loyalists," Pollak writes in the introduction. "I would serve in his administration, but I was not offered a post in the last administration, and I have no reason to expect I will be offered one in the next. I am writing this book solely because I believe I can help."

Pollak making crystal clear that he does not have Trump’s approval is as savvy as it is honest. The Kamala Harris
former senatrix from California, 2020 Dem presidential hopeful and ultimately Joe Biden's intended successor
campaign is using Project 2025 and its 900-page manifesto to bludgeon Trump, linking him to its far-reaching and radical proposals to elevate the executive branch.

How adjacent to Trump the book is, or could be, is hard to say because Trump’s loyalties and favorites constantly shift. The book is published by War Room Books, an imprint started by Steve Bannon, the onetime Trump adviser who was for a time out of favor with the former president but now seems to be influential again.

Bannon’s podcast, "The War Room," is popular with advisers close to Trump, who lamented his absence after he went to jail on July 1. He was tossed in the calaboose
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for contempt of Congress for refusing to testify about the deadly January 6, 2021, Capitol riot that sought to overturn Trump’s electoral defeat. The last thing Bannon did before reporting to prison was write the foreword to Pollak’s book.

"Joel Pollak correctly notes that, in November, ’a victorious Trump will have completed the greatest political comeback in American history and will have the opportunity to make the kinds of big changes that come along once in a generation,’" Bannon writes, calling the book "an instant American classic."

In his conversations with JTA, Pollak emphasized his Israel agenda — which maps to the party’s platform — and offered more detail about some of his stances that would appear to be most at odds with mainstream American Jewish views.

On immigration, he emphasized that he believed there should be mechanisms for people to come to the country if they are "genuine victims of religious and political persecution," as many Jews were when they arrived at American shores. He also acknowledged the existence of an antisemitic version of "replacement theory" that posits that Jews are orchestrating the replacement of whites in Western countries with migrants colonists of color.

But he said that conspiracy theory was distinct from his worries, and broader Republican concerns, about migration. He accused the Anti-Defamation League and other groups of intentionally conflating the two ideas, "falsely accusing some conservatives of antisemitism for opposing migration."

Spitalnick said it was a distinction without a difference. "There are ways to talk about immigration policy without suggesting that there is a deliberate effort to replace the population or change the electorate or otherwise play into the very conspiracy theories and tropes that we know have directly fueled deadly violence," she said.

Regarding the White House bully pulpit for encouraging religious literacy and Bible study, he said, "The rules should prohibit proselytization, so that messages remain focused on spiritual lessons of a general and universal nature."

Pollak faults Trump for not being prepared in his first term, advancing his agenda piecemeal, which allowed groups opposed to his plans to go to the courts to stop him. Among them were Jewish organizations, including HIAS, the lead Jewish refugee aid group that led and joined a number of briefs against Trump’s immigration restrictions.

With a more aggressive approach, he argues, Trump could overwhelm the Red Guards liberal groups who would oppose his administration. He recommends signing hundreds of executive orders on his first day in office. Almost all of the steps he urges can be accomplished without appealing to Congress.

"Ten executive orders on the first day is what Biden did and Trump did" on their first days, he told JTA. "I’m raising it an order of magnitude. I mean, if you add up the number of suggestions in the book, it’s over 200 things that Trump could do on the first day and it’s very, very hard to challenge all of those at once. How are you going to find 200 different federal courts?"

At his book party, Pollak, who said the book was spurred by his anger at Trump’s conviction on 34 New York State fraud felonies, said he was happy to have laid out his thoughts in a forward-looking manner.

"I’m tired of feeling negative and upset about what’s going on," he said.

Establishment of Zangezur corridor a 'red line' for Iran: MP
[IRNA] "It is clear that issues related to the geopolitical developments surrounding the Zangezur Corridor are not in the interest of regional countries, and Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
vehemently opposes this matter," Ebrahim Azizi, Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, said on Saturday.

He made the comment after Russia expressed its support for Azerbaijan's demand to establish unimpeded access to Nakhchivan by opening the Zangezur Corridor through Armenia. The corridor would connect Azerbaijan's western regions directly to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The scheme has raised concerns in Iran as it would disrupt the historical transit route between Iran and Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
via Armenia.

Azizi suggested that there are underlying motives behind the ''fake corridor'' aimed at diminishing Iran's military and political power in the region.

He pointed out that Supreme Fearless Leader of the Islamic Revolution
...Iran's doddering head theocrat...
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei
...the very aged actual dictator of Iran, successor to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...>
has made it clear in discussion with both Russian and Ottoman Turkish leaders that Iran is strongly opposed to any geopolitical changes in the Caucasus.

"We have repeatedly communicated through various channels to regional countries that this corridor is a red line for Iran, and any changes or actions regarding it will be met with a serious and firm response from Iran."

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: September 7, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespomdent] 19:35 Russians shelled the village of Staroverovka in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkiv region, one person was killed, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov. Another five people were injured as a result of enemy shelling of Malaya Danilovka, the State Emergency Service reported.

18:14 There is no consensus yet among the allies on lifting restrictions on the use of long-range weapons for strikes against the Russian Federation, but discussions are ongoing, Zelensky said. At the same time, he recalled how he worked on the use of such weapons in Crimea: "There was no consensus then either, but it is important to find the key to at least one country, and then others can follow suit." The President said that he had already discussed this issue with a number of European leaders, and if the situation in the country allows him to travel to the UN General Assembly in September, "we will summarize the results of all these meetings with President Biden."

As for the situation in the Pokrovsk direction, according to Zelensky, over the past few days it “has been better,” but we need to wait for stabilization.

15:37 Spain joined the IT coalition as part of the Rammstein meeting. This is the 13th partner country to join the special group to support Ukraine in the field of IT, communications and cybersecurity, the Ministry of Defense reported.

15:12 The number of victims as a result of the Russian strike on Pavlograd in the Dnipropetrovsk region on September 6 has risen to 82 , including seven minors, reported the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.

14:58 In Soldatskoye, Voronezh Region, an ammunition depot where missiles from the DPRK were stored has been destroyed, claims the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, Andriy Kovalenko. Ukrainian media write, citing sources, that the depot was attacked by SBU drones. At the moment, four sources of powerful fire and continuous detonation of ammunition have been recorded at the facility.

13:26 Russians shelled Konstantinovka in Donetsk Oblast with artillery - three people were killed and four were wounded, OVA head Vadim Filashkin reported. High-rise buildings, an administrative building, a store, a pharmacy, cars, and power lines were damaged.

11:23 Iran has sent Russia more than 200 ballistic missiles, The Times reports. These are likely Fath-300 missiles, which can reach targets up to 112 km away.

11:17 Ukrainian drones are capable of hitting military targets at a distance of up to 1,800 km, Budanov said in his congratulatory address on the occasion of Military Intelligence Day.

11:11 After a night drone attack near the Verkhovna Rada building, debris from a downed drone was found, the parliament reported and showed a photo:

09:29 Three people were killed in Donetsk Oblast as a result of Russian shelling on September 6: two in Toretsk and one in Raigorodka. Three more people in the region were injured in the past 24 hours, said OVA head Vadim Filashkin.

09:22 The number of victims as a result of yesterday's Russian strike on the city of Lyubotin in the Kharkiv district has increased to six, including two teenagers aged 14 and 16, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov. In addition, one person was injured as a result of enemy shelling of the Solonitsivka community in the Kharkiv district and another in the city of Kupyansk.

09:18 Russian aviation struck settlements in the Berislav district of the Kherson region with five KABs, one person was wounded, the OVA reported. Over the previous day, seven people were wounded as a result of Russian shelling in the region.

09:16 Air defense destroyed 58 out of 67 Shahed-type attack UAVs at night, the Air Force reported. Another six drones flew in the direction of Russia, Belarus and the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. Three enemy UAVs were lost on Ukrainian territory (probably fell under the influence of electronic warfare systems). Air defense operated in Vinnytsia, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, Kherson and Poltava regions.

09:04 The EU will allocate 300 million euros from the income from frozen Russian assets to France to purchase weapons for Ukraine, the French Ministry of Defense reported. France, along with other EU member states, will take part in the implementation of a new measure to support Ukraine. We are talking about using about 1.4 billion euros from the income from Russian assets to purchase military equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thanks to this financing, the French industry will be able to quickly acquire priority weapons for Ukraine, in particular ammunition, artillery and air defense systems.

08:43 Forbes writes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have launched a counterattack near Pokrovsk. According to the publication, Ukrainian reinforcements - at least the Kara-Dag Brigade of the National Guard, the 12th Azov and 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade - are currently conducting small-scale counterattacks, the main effect of which is to slow down or roll back Russian successes. Well-trained reservists are holding back the Russians near Selidovo and giving them no chance to advance to Pokrovsk. The loss of momentum by the Russian Armed Forces allows the Ukrainian Armed Forces to dig in and strengthen their positions around Pokrovsk before winter.

08:35 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of September 7:

  • personnel - about 623,990 (+1270) people,

  • tanks - 8632 (+1),

  • combat armored vehicles - 16,878 (+0),

  • artillery systems - 17,774 (+29),

  • MLRS - 1178 (+0),

  • air defense systems - 942 (+1),

  • aircraft - 368 (+0),

  • helicopters - 328 (+0),

  • Operational-tactical level UAVs - 14,784 (+52),

  • cruise missiles - 2588 (+1),

  • ships/boats - 28 (+0),

  • submarines - 1 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tank trucks - 24,171 (+55),

  • special equipment - 3037 (+0).

08:18 In the Ostrogozhsky District of the Voronezh Region, a drone attacked an ammunition depot, causing a fire and detonation. Governor Alexander Gusev reported that the drone was allegedly suppressed by electronic warfare and fell. According to him, due to the fire and subsequent detonation, residents of one village were temporarily evacuated to a neighboring settlement. A state of emergency was declared. According to preliminary information, no civilians were injured.

07:39 The number of victims of the Russian strike on Pavlograd in Dnipropetrovsk region on September 6 has risen to 74 , reported the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.

06:41 Russia attacked Kiev with drones, all of them were destroyed, said the head of the Kyiv State Air Defense Forces Sergey Popko. As a result of the attack in the Pechersk district, debris fell at four different addresses, a fire was discovered in an open area, which has already been extinguished. Preliminary, there are no casualties or damage in the city.

02:27 Iran's transfer of ballistic missiles to Russia would mean a sharp escalation of the war in Ukraine, White House National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said. Reuters reports that the transfer of missiles comes after the United States and partners warned Iran that such a move could have consequences. Meanwhile, Iran's representatives at the UN said that Tehran "considers it inhumane to provide military assistance to parties to the conflict" and "not only refrains from such actions, but also calls on other countries to stop supplying weapons to the parties."

Ukrainian General Staff reports battles in eight directions
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] There have been 101 clashes at the front since the start of the day,

The Russians are continuously attacking in the Pokrovsky direction. Here, the occupiers have carried out 28 attacks during the day.

The situation at the front remains tense. The number of combat clashes has now increased to 101. The hottest is currently in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsky directions. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday, September 7.

The occupier continues to use aviation and artillery in the border areas of the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

In the Kharkov direction, Russian troops stormed the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Volchansk area, the battle is currently ongoing. Kazachya Lopan came under attack from enemy UABs.

The enemy attacked four times in the Kupyansk direction . In the direction of Sinkovka, Lozovaya, Stelmakhovka and Andreyevka. One attack was repelled by the Defense Forces, three combat clashes continue.

In the Liman direction, the enemy attacked in the direction of Cherneshchyna, Nevsky, Lozovaya, Torskoye and near Makeyevka and Dibrova. In total, since the beginning of the day, there have already been 18 clashes in this direction, two clashes are still ongoing in the Nevsky area. The situation is under control.

The enemy is further trying to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Seversky direction , but is receiving a tough rebuff from Ukrainian units. Thus, near Spornoye, Verkhnekamenskoye and Vyemka, the occupiers tried to push back our units four times, at present all attacks have been repelled.

In the Kramatorsk direction, the invaders carried out five assault actions near Chasovy Yar, Andreyevka and Kleshchievka. A battle is underway near Andreyevka. The enemy is actively using aviation, striking Chasovy Yar with UABs and unguided air missiles.

In the Toretsk direction, the number of enemy attacks has increased to five. The enemy, with the support of attack and bomber aircraft, is trying to attack near the settlements of Toretsk, where our defenders have repelled three attacks, Nelipovka, where one attack has already been repelled, two more clashes are continuing.

The enemy is continuously attacking Ukrainian defenders in the Pokrovsk direction. Here, during the day, the aggressor carried out 28 attacks in the areas of Vozdvizhenka, Grodovka, Zelenoye Pole, Lisovka, Mirolyubovka, Novogrodovka, Selidovoye and Mikhaylovka. The defense forces are holding back the pressure and have repelled 18 enemy attacks, ten battles are still ongoing. Aleksandropol suffered strikes from unguided air missiles.

The situation is also difficult in the Kurakhovsky direction , where since the beginning of the day the invader has attacked our units 27 times. He tried to advance near Konstantinovka, Krasnogorovka and Georgievka, currently fighting continues in six locations.

In the Vremovsky direction, our troops are repelling three attacks towards Vodyanoye and Ugledar; three attempts to advance towards Vodyanoye have not brought success to the enemy.

In the Orekhovsky and Gulyai-Polye directions, the occupiers are shelling the positions of Ukrainian units and populated areas. The enemy also used attack aircraft against Novoandreyevka.

In the Dnieper direction, three attacks by the invaders were unsuccessful. Today, enemy aircraft struck settlements such as Urozhainoe, Berislav, Tyaginka and Tokarevka in the Kherson region, dropping ten guided air bombs.

Let us recall that on September 5, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, stated that Ukrainian troops had managed to stop the advance of the Russians in the Pokrovsk direction .

President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction "has been better" over the past few days , but it is necessary to wait for stabilization.

Schools closed in restive Indian state after rocket attack
[GEOTV] Schools were ordered shut from Saturday in the restive Indian state of Manipur after a rocket attack by turbans killed a civilian and maimed six others.

Fighting broke out in the northeastern state more than a year ago between the predominantly Hindu Meitei majority and the mainly Christian Kuki community.
This nonsense has been going on since May, 2023. I imagine Dron’s thoughts on the subject are somewhat pungent…
The conflict has simmered since then, splitting previously cohabitating communities along ethnic lines.

A local government notice said all schools in the state would be closed on Saturday, when classes are usually held, to protect the "safety of the students and teachers".

The day before, a rebel group had fired rockets in the state's Bishnupur district, an attack that local police attributed to "Kuki turbans".
It’s India. Not only Moslems, but Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, and everyone else wear turbans, too.
A police statement said a 78-year-old man was killed in the barrage and six people were maimed.

Officers responding to the attack "were fired upon by suspected Kuki forces of Evil but the police team retaliated robustly and repelled the attack", the statement said.

Local media reports said the elderly man was killed when a rocket hit the residence of the late Mairenbam Koireng Singh, a former chief minister of Manipur.

The Indian Express newspaper, citing an unnamed security source, said that the rockets appeared to be "improvised projectiles" made using "galvanised iron pipes attached to explosives".

Friday's attack came days after turbans used drones to drop explosives in what police called a "significant escalation" of violence in the state.

A 31-year-old woman was killed and six people were maimed in that incident, which police described as an "unprecedented attack" by rebels.

Longstanding tensions between the Meitei and Kuki communities revolve around competition for land and public jobs, with rights activists accusing local leaders of exacerbating ethnic divisions for political gain.

200 hacker attacks repelled in Moscow over two days of elections
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Two hundred cyber attacks have been repelled following two days of voting in the Moscow elections. The online voting system is operating normally. This was reported to journalists on September 7 by Alexander Asafov, Deputy Head of the Public Headquarters for Election Observation in Moscow.

At the Public Headquarters for Election Observation in Moscow
As Asafov clarified, no anomalies in remote electronic voting have been observed; the system is operating normally, despite cyberattacks.

"Observers, accordingly, monitor all stages of voting, the system operates normally, despite the fact that, of course, attacks are being undertaken. And technical specialists reported that 200 computer attacks were blocked," Asafov noted and added that malicious activity was observed from more than 2.7 thousand IP addresses.

According to Asafov, with the help of cyberattacks, IT specialists are trying to find vulnerabilities in the electronic voting system, which is protected from standard hacker attacks on its nodes thanks to preliminary testing and technical work.

Earlier, Regnum News Agency reported that over two days of elections for Moscow City Duma deputies, more than 2.6 million people voted in Moscow. Of these, over 2.3 million people used the online voting system.

Elections in Moscow will be held on September 6, 7 and 8, 2024. City residents will elect deputies of the Moscow City Duma of the eighth convocation, municipal deputies in eight municipal districts of TiNAO (Bekasovo, Voronovo and Krasnopakhorsky, Vnukovskoye, Kommunarka, Filimonkovsky, Shcherbinka and the urban district of Troitsk) and in the municipal district of Kurkino.

Egyptian archaeologists discover bronze sword of Pharaoh Ramses II
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Egyptian archaeologists have discovered a bronze sword of Pharaoh Ramses II during excavations in the province of El-Buheira. This was reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt.
Did they get any fingerprints off the thing, or DNA?
“In addition to the set of archaeological finds… the expedition discovered a long bronze sword decorated with a cartouche (in this case, a graphic decoration with a name) of Pharaoh Ramses II,” says a statement published on the official website of the ministry.

Archaeologists also discovered a number of adobe structures, including military barracks, weapons depots, and food storage facilities. They were dated to the New Kingdom, the heyday of ancient Egyptian statehood (c. 1550–1100 BC).

The findings confirm the archaeological significance of El Abqain Fort, a military outpost on the country's northwestern border during the New Kingdom, said Mohammed Ismail Khaled, secretary general of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, in July, Spanish archaeologists discovered the remains of one of the most ancient archaic people in Europe, aged 850 thousand years, during excavations in the Gran Dolina mountain range in the Sierra de Atapuerca. Among the discovered fragments of skull bones, ribs and vertebrae, the researchers also found a tooth, which presumably belonged to a 25-year-old woman, whose remains were previously found in this region.
850 thousand years?

Libya''s Coast Guard Intercepts 64 Europe-Bound Migrants
[Breitbart] Libya's coasties intercepted dozens of Europe-bound migrants colonists on a boat and returned them to shore, authorities said Saturday, a few days after a shipwreck off the North African country left nearly two dozen dead or missing.

The boat was carrying 64 migrants colonists and was intercepted Friday off the northwestern town of Sirte, according to the town's coasties unit. It posted images on Facebook showing dozens of migrants colonists, including at least one woman and a child, upon their return. The coasties also set the migrant boat on fire, a procedure aimed at preventing its reuse by traffickers.

On Wednesday, a boat carrying 32 migrants colonists from Egypt and Syria capsized off Libya's eastern town of Tobruk, leaving 22 missing and presumed dead. The Libyan coasties said it rescued nine people and recovered one body.

Cat smuggling in Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from a V Kontakte post by Irina Belokolos.

Author is Elena Evdokimenko.

[VK] Caught in a cart, I can't help but share) It's good that I'm alone here. I laughed like a mustang in the prairie. But no one came running to see if I hit my head))

Since I was often sick as a child, my grandmother (my mother's mother) decided to move from the Moscow region to us in Riga for a few months.
Is this charming tale from the old days before the Berlin Wall fell? Because nowadays Latvia is no longer part of Russia.
Prolly. Russian humor... It's different...
Together with her, the cat Barsik was to become a resident of Riga, because there was nowhere to leave the animal for such a long time.

We are crazy. We do not know that cats cannot just be carried on a train.

- They will drop off your Barsik in Sebezh at the border and he will go into the forest to feed wolves, - blurted out a neighbor in the compartment. She said it and fell asleep. And two people, an old man and a young one, remained sitting as if rooted to the spot.
Russian writer Pushkin once related a vignette where an individual was ordered to leave her canary in a cage off the train. The Tsar's regulations considered any animal, even in a cage to be livestock. Commenters on the original post said that current modern Russsian rail regulations require a veteranary certificate and the passenger must buy an extra passage for the pet.
We drank tea half the night, goggled at the darkness outside the window and thought about where to hide the cat ...

Barsik was mute. He couldn’t meow, much less scream, and that inspired us.

Grandma tried to stuff the cat into the bag of her hated neighbor while she was sleeping.

“Let him pee on her Orenburg downy shawl at the same time,” Maria Dmitrievna said, closing the zipper. But she changed her mind right away, since bags were sometimes searched. And even if they found him in other people’s things, we would still lose the cat.

I already imagined the scandal, how I would take a pose, loudly shout: “If that’s the case, goodbye!” and go crying on the night platform. But then God’s grace descended on grandma in the form of a brilliant idea. It was decided to give the cat valerian to drink so that he would become gloomy, and stuff him into her leggings, covering him with a robe on top.

That night Barsik got it. The fool savored the valerian, rubbed his face down on the floor, lay on his back and spread his paws in different directions. Granny turned him over, poked his face into the bowl and threatened that if he didn’t drink the dose right away, then in an hour the Sebezh wolves would scatter his bells along the railroad. However, it was difficult to scare the tipsy Barsik.

When the cat’s nervous system finally got slammed and he went limp, the terrible thing was ahead – to disappear into the depths of Granny’s tights. This didn’t work out. The cat didn’t hold on in the stomach area and slid down, creating the appearance that Granny had shit in her pants.
Yes, that would be a problem…
“No, that won’t do, Len, give him here,” Maria Dmitrievna opened her blouse, grabbed Barsik by the scruff of the neck, pushed him under her bra, fixing the cat’s head between her breasts. Barsik twitched in his sleep, but Granny gave him a slap on the ass so he wouldn’t forget.

“If they find me, I’ll say I put it on my heart to ward off the evil eye,” Granny said, closed the zipper all the way to her chin and sat down by the window.

“Are you carrying drugs, weapons, illegal substances?” the border guard asked.

“If only you knew, Uncle, what we’re carrying on Granny’s body to ward off the evil eye...” I thought, shaking my head.

We passed both borders safely. In the morning, we put the drunk cat in a bag and went home. I’d never seen Barsik so happy. Apparently, he didn’t remember about the leggings.

Government Corruption
Biden will not pardon his son Hunter. You betcha.
[POSTMILLENNIAL] President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Gave an airbase and billions in military hardware to the Taliban and called it an extraordinary success...
will not pardon his son Hunter Biden, according to a statement made Thursday by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during her regular afternoon briefing.

A news hound first asked Jean-Pierre if Hunter Biden changing his plea had any influence on the ''calculus'' of Biden's decision. The press secretary responded, ''no comment'' to that query but said ''It's no, it's still no,'' when asked if Biden had any intention of pardoning his son.

''Can you comment on whether a commutation would be on or off the table?'' another news hound asked. ''That's also no,'' Jean-Pierre said, adding that she didn't ''have anything to say'' about whether Hunter's predicament had anything to do with his father's decision not to seek a second term as president.

Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in a Los Angeles court on Thursday to nine tax evasion charges, three of which are felonies.

According to the Daily Mail, Judge Mark Scarsi informed Hunter that his sentence could be as high as 17 years in prison with over $1 million in fines when convicted on all counts.

In pleading guilty on Hunter Biden's behalf, his lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said the reason underlying Biden's decision was a desire to save his family from more grief and lay the matter to rest.

"Your honor has basically indicated that there's a need to address the public interest," Lowell said. "But Mr. Biden also has to address the private interest. This has been a difficult time for him and his family. Enough is enough."

Biden's lawyers had wanted to enter an "Alford plea" where Hunter Biden would have pleaded guilty while maintaining his innocence. They agreed to drop that course of action after meeting with prosecutors.

#10  A lifetime of lies, grifting, deal-making and selling the powers and influence of his office for personal gain, and suddenly a question of "integrity" and moral courage is asked by those in search of readers? A deal has been made, and widespread family pardons will occur, the details by whom and when are merely formalities. Risible naivete for the gullible and more "pretending" by the media fabulists who assert their journalismbono fides!

#11  I agree with #6 Ebbiter Omose6659; It will be Joe Biden who will do the Pardoning whether Trump or Harris when the election. He has nothing to lose, no skin in the game. The only question is when? Tactically it would be better to do it as soon as possible after the election to cover Harris or preempt Trump!

#12  There are plenty of other crimes to try Mr. Hunter Biden on. Though even without prison, it will be interesting to see what becomes of him without the prospect of access to power — it’s not like anyone is going to bother collecting his paintings now.

German FM says 'purely military approach' not the solution in Gaza; CIA, MI6 urge Israeli ‘compromises’ to get hostages back, detailed ceasefire proposal imminent
[GEOTV] German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Friday that a military approach alone was not the solution to Israel's war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
It took all-out war to drive out the Nazis, but that’s different somehow.
"The past weekend has dramatically demonstrated that a purely military approach is no solution to the situation in Gaza," she told reporters after meeting with her Israeli counterpart Israel Katz in the coastal Israeli city of Tel Aviv.
That's what they always said about the Tamil Tigers, too. Anybody remember them?

CIA director says more detailed Gaza ceasefire proposal due in days
[GEOTV] CIA Director William Burns, the chief US negotiator trying to help secure a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages by Hamas, said a more detailed proposal on the ceasefire would be made in the coming days.

"We will make this more detailed proposal, I hope in the next several days, and then we'll see," Burns said at an FT event in London on Saturday.

In the Ugledar direction of the RF Armed Forces crossed over from active defense to a rapid offensive from the flanks in the Vodyanoye area. The successful advance was preceded by a summer operation to straighten the front line and reach the Ugledar-Konstantinovka highway, one of the most important supply routes for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, now under the control of the Russian army.

The main task now is to clear the mine, but the matter is complicated by a number of multi-storey buildings on the outskirts, where the enemy has entrenched itself and is preventing our assault units from entering the city - it is their capture that will ensure control of the industrial zone. At the same time, units of the Russian Armed Forces are squeezing Ugledar in pincers, actively advancing in Pavlovka and Vodyanoye.

Turkey's Erdogan calls for Islamic alliance against Israel
It never worked before, but this time they’ll have the mighty Turk Ottoman Turk army leading them!
[GEOTV] Ottoman Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday Islamic countries should form an alliance against what he called "the growing threat of expansionism" from Israel.

He made the comment after describing what Paleostinian and Ottoman Turkish officials said was the killing by Israeli troops of a Ottoman Turkish-American woman taking part in a protest on Friday against settlement expansion in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

"The only step that will stop Israeli arrogance, Israeli banditry, and Israeli state terrorism
... any action taken by a non-Moslem state that constrains the violent impulses of Moslems or their allies...
is the alliance of Islamic countries," Erdogan said at an Islamic schools' association event near Istanbul.

Afghanistan
Afghanistan and Pakistan resume fighting in the disputed border area
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Pakistani border troops and members of the Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) who seized power in Afghanistan resumed fighting on September 7 in the disputed border area in the Afghan province of Khost. This was reported by the Tolo News TV channel, citing a source.

“On Saturday at approximately 16:00 (14:30. - Ed.) more clashes occurred between Afghan and Pakistani forces along the Durand Line in the Zazi Maidan district of Khost province,” the report said.

According to the TV channel, the fighting continues. The parties are using heavy weapons, among other things. Earlier, clashes on the border were reported on September 4.

The Durand Line is a barbed wire fence that Pakistani authorities began installing on the border with Afghanistan in 2017.
The fence in 2017, yes. The Durand Line was drawn on the map by the British empire generations ago.
Kabul does not recognize the division between the countries. The territorial dispute has been ongoing since the formation of independent Pakistan in 1947.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, there have previously been battles between Afghanistan and Pakistan in border areas, which have resulted in casualties among military personnel.

In November 2022, Kabul and Islamabad tried to negotiate an end to the conflict, but failed to reach an agreement.

Southeast Asia
Too good to be true? Unpacking Jemaah Islamiyah’s self-declared disbanding
2024.07.10
[BenarNews] At an event organized last month by the Indonesian counter-terrorism agency (BNPT), Abu Rusydan and 15 other leaders of Jemaah Islamiyah announced their group’s dissolution.

JI, the Southeast Asian affiliate of al-Qaeda, had carried out a string of devastating attacks in the 2000s, including Indonesia’s deadliest-ever terror attack — the 2002 Bali bombings. But now it was "ready to actively contribute to Indonesia’s progress and dignity," Abu Rusydan declared as he read from a prepared statement during the event on June 30.

This is not the first time that a bully boy group has disbanded itself. The Provisional Irish Republican Army unilaterally broke up in 2005, throwing itself solely into legal activities through its political arm, Sinn Féin. In 2018, the Basque separatist organization ETA also unilaterally disbanded.

But Jemaah Islamiyah’s announcement surprised many people, and left others feeling skeptical.

There are three interrelated questions that need to be asked about the move by JI: How did we get here? Is this for real? And what does this mean for regional security?

HOW DID WE GET HERE?
Jemaah Islamiyah, which has its roots in the Darul Islam movement, was founded in Malaysia in 1993, when its two founders, Abdullah Sungkar and Abu Bakar Bashir
... Leader of the Indonesian Mujahedeen Council and proprietor of the al-Mukmin madrassah in Ngruki. The spriritual head of Jemaah Islamiya, which he denies exists. Bashir was jugged and then released in the wake of the 2002 Bali bombings, which he blamed on a conspiracy among the U.S., Israel, and Australia. In 2014, as leader of Jemaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD), he pledged allegiance to ISIS. Currently in jug...
, were on the run from Suharto’s New Order government in Indonesia.

While in Malaysia, they served as a way-station for several hundred gunnies who traveled to Pakistain to join the anti-Soviet jihad in Afghanistan, putting them in direct contact with al-Qaeda.

In 1996, a charter (the PUPJI) created the group’s organizational structure and codified JI’s Salafi ideology. At the time, the group also reached an agreement with the Philippine armed separatist organization, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, to allow al-Qaeda to establish training camps in the southern Philippines.

In Indonesia, JI perpetrated terrorist attacks on Christian churches and established two paramilitary organizations to wage sectarian conflict in the Maluku Islands and Central Sulawesi province.

Following the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in October 2001, the al-Qaeda leadership called for diversionary attacks. One of these was the twin Bali bombings that killed 202 people a year later.

Between 2002 and 2007, JI perpetrated a major attack almost every year. But each attack left the organization weaker as counterterrorism forces became more adept and better resourced.

This led to an ideological split in the organization between proponents of the line of targeting the "far enemy," versus those who wanted to foment sectarian conflict in order to rebuild their depleted ranks.

The government legally banned JI in 2008, but allowed it to operate as an entity as long as it refrained from violence.

In 2010, more than 100 JI members were swept up, including Abu Bakar Bashir, breaking the organization’s back. JI’s last terrorist act took place that year.

Yet, from 2020-2023, Indonesian counter-terrorism efforts were as focused on JI as it was on the pro-Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
umbrella group, Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD). Security forces originally saw JI as an off-ramp for the more radical JAD, but attitudes hardened.

In 2019, when counterterrorism police arrested JI’s emir, Para Wijayanto, they were shocked by the group’s size and national reach. Its madrassas and charitable arms had grown, while its corporations and publishing arms had created a steady revenue stream. As many JI members were arrested in 2021 and 2022 as JAD suspects.

Indonesian counter-terrorism forces have applied a softer approach. Though seemingly campy, they’ve held mass rallies where former gunnies pledge allegiance to the republic.

Former gunnies have established madrassas for the children of incarcerated bully boys, so they are not raised in JI or JAD-run schools, breaking terrorist social networks.

They’ve gotten leaders, including the JAD Emir Aman Abdurrahman, who is on death row, and Umar Patek, to publicly renounce violence.

Meanwhile the conflict in Poso, which served as a rallying point for all bully boy groups in Indonesia, has been stamped out.

Internationally, there has been more cooperation amongst the regional security services. And while ungoverned space and institutional weakness remains in the southern Philippines, bully boy groups are no longer attracting JI and other foreign bully boys.

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front continues to implement the grinding of the peace processor and build up institutions that will help the autonomous Moslem region transition to self-governance. There has been an unprecedented sustained attack on the Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder...
, which is now fighting for survival.

IS THIS FOR REAL?
While JI has not been in a position to engage in terrorism, until now, it has never renounced violence. Many in the organization were simply waiting for the right circumstance to resume operations.

It’s easy to be cynical about the group’s prepared statement, especially at an event stage-managed by the BNPT. Some of those who were on hand had been arrested and gone through government disengagement programs.

To young radicals, they’re sell-outs, and past their prime. The average age of the men who renounced violence was in the late 50s or older.

To what degree will younger members follow the leadership and pursue a legal-political alternative?

In many ways, this is more promising. JI’s campaign of militancy failed to bring about the establishment of an Islamic State governed by Sharia. Democratic politics have advanced their political agenda more effectively.

It’s not that Islamist parties do terribly well at the national level. Indeed, in Indonesia’s 2024 general election, they collectively represented about 20% of the electorate and won 101 of 580 seats. But they are important members of political coalitions, which tend to give them a disproportionate voice.

It’s at the local level where we see faith-based parties make their mark, especially in the passage of public policy and Sharia compliant codes, which the majority of provinces and districts now have.

Islamist parties are riddled with rivalries and have never formed a cohesive bloc.

Perhaps for that reason, JI saw an opening for a tactical shift. In May 2021, JI established the Indonesian People’s Dakwah Party (PDRI). Yet, counter-terrorism forces arrested its founder, Farid Ahmad Okbah, that November for being a senior member of JI. Two others were arrested.

The PDRI did not contest the 2024 elections. But it seems likely that with JI’s dissolution, the government will give former members more political space.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR REGIONAL SECURITY?
JI’s manpower and locus were largely-Indonesian based, but it remains a Southeast Asian organization.

Some affiliates gravitated elsewhere. Darul Islam Sabah, for example, went from facilitating JI and the movement of foreign gunnies in and out of the southern Philippines to working with the JAD and other groups.

There has always been more fluidity between Southeast Asian bully boy groups than those in the Middle East or South Asia. Abu Bakar Bashir defected from being pro-al Qaeda to being pro-Islamic State, with large numbers of acolytes, without consequence.

As such, many younger gunnies who are committed to using violence to achieve their political aims are likely to defect to other groups.

What those groups may be, though, is unclear. The JAD is decimated and leaderless, though to be fair, it was always far more horizontally structured. It has not executed a major terrorist attack since 2019.

At present there is no apparent charismatic leader for bully boy Salafists
...Salafists are ostentatiously devout Moslems who figure the ostentation of their piety gives them the right to tell others how to do it and to kill those who don't listen to them...
to coalesce around. And while one would expect external events, such as the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, to serve as a catalyst, to date it has not.

JI still runs a network of madrassas, including some very large ones like al-Mukmin and Pesantren Hidayatullah in Balikpapan. These continue to be ideological incubators and hate factories.

It’s hard to see state educational personnel intervene and change their curriculum. But Indonesian security forces have not let up, despite the decline in organizational strength or the tempo of operations.

Terrorism will be a persistent but manageable threat in Indonesia. JI’s dissolution makes it more so, providing a legal-political alternative that is more moral, but also proven to be more effective.

Hezbollah pounds Israeli regime's Golan Brigade headquarters
Hezbollah announced in a statement on Saturday that its fighters targeted the Jabal Neriya Golani base with Katyusha rockets in retaliation for the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime against residential buildings, especially the regime's recent aggression against the Froun village in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
.

According to the statement, the Jabal Neriya Golani base is currently the headquarters of the Golani Brigade of the regime's army.

On Friday, Hezbollah also announced in a statement that it had attacked the Ma'yan Baruch military base, the Zabadin barracks, as well as the buildings used by the Zionist military in the town of al-Mutala'a in the north of occupied Paleostine with drones and missiles.

Since the start of Operation al-Aqsa Storm by the Paleostinian resistance groups, Hezbollah has carried out daily and heavy strikes against the Zionist regime's positions in order to engage a large number of its forces in the north of occupied Paleostine and reduce the pressure on the resistance in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The regime's Army Radio recently reported that in August, Hezbollah launched 1,307 rockets from southern Lebanon towards the occupied territories, which is the highest rate since the onset of the genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

Al Mayadeen, the official TV channel of Hezbollah, said later today that the resistance group launched a rocket attack against the Zionist Hadab Yaron base at 8:15 local time.

The Zionist media have also confirmed that some missiles have been fired from southern Lebanon to Al Jalil.

Government Corruption
Stacey Abrams-Founded Group Picks Fight with Gov. Brian Kemp

Fair Fight, a group founded by election denier Stacey Abrams

, is running an ad in Atlanta pressuring Gov. Brian Kemp (R-GA) to remove three ''MAGA bad boys'' members of the Georgia State Election Board — an action Kemp may not have legal authority to take.

The ad, airing on CNN

, MSNBC, and Fox News, asks voters to flood Kemp's phone lines demanding he remove three Republican board members who have pushed election integrity measures many Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. have framed as election interference.

The modest $50,000 ad buy was first reported by the New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, who was given an early look at the ad.

Fair Fight and other leftwing groups have objected to the board's actions to increase election integrity, including its requirement that county election officials make a ''reasonable inquiry'' before certifying election results to the state.

National and state Democrats recently sued the board over its certification rules, arguing they could cause confusion and delay the process. Additionally, State Representative Nabilah Islam Parkes
…D of course. The child of immigrants from Bangladesh, Mrs. Parkes was the first Muslimah elected to the Georgia state senate when she won two years ago…
filed an ethics complaint against the board, alleging the new rules were passed to help Trump win. An additional complaint alleges the trio violated open meetings laws.

Kemp referred the ethics complaints to the Georgia attorney general. He also asked the AG if he, the governor, possesses the power to remove members of the board.

Trump has praised the board's work, singling out three Republicans — Janice Johnston, Rick Jeffares and Janelle King — as ''pit bulls'' during a recent campaign rally. The five-member board includes an additional Republican and a Democrat who often have partnered to oppose the trio.

The former president and Kemp recently mended their at-times fraught relationship, with each publicly praising the other.

Kansas Police: 750,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized in One County in 2024 but Crisis Persists
[Breitbart] Kansas's fentanyl crisis is a ''very dangerous situation,'' according to law enforcement officials, as the synthetic opioid has caused approximately 80 percent of drug overdose deaths in one of the state's most populous areas.

Authorities from Sedgwick County, which has a population of more than 520,000 people, revealed that police seized a whopping 750,000 fentanyl pills so far in 2024, KWCH12 reported Thursday.

Even with the massive police efforts to crack down on drug trafficking, the problem is far from over.

''This stuff is extremely strong. We're not seeing where one dose of Narcan is bringing people back. It's multiple doses that we're having to administer, and the most we've administered to somebody is five,'' Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter told the local outlet.

''It's very dangerous. If it's not cut with something before it comes here, if it's straight fentanyl powder, that type of pow[d]er can soak through your system; you can breathe it,'' he explained.

Easter hopes that additions to police staff and opioid settlement money will lead to a substantial change in the area.

...mayor of San Franciscoas it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of Californiaas it transforms itself into Cinderland...
vetoed a controversial bill that would have given up to $150,000 to illegal immigrants colonists in the state for home down payments.

"To the Members of the California State Assembly: I am returning Assembly Bill 1840 without my signature. This bill seeks to prohibit the disqualification of applicants from one of California Housing Finance Agency's (CalHFA) home purchase assistance programs based solely on their immigration status," Newsom wrote.

"Given the finite funding available for CalHFA programs, expanding program eligibility must be carefully considered within the broader context of the annual state budget to ensure we manage our resources effectively."

Over 2 Pounds of Fentanyl Wash Ashore Florida''s Daytona Beach
[Breitbart] More than two pounds of fentanyl were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents after it washed ashore in Daytona Beach, Florida, officials said Thursday.

An unsuspecting beachgoer found the drugs and contacted police, Andrew Scharnweber of CBP's Miami sector announced on X:

A photo added in the post shows a massive plastic-wrapped brick of the dangerous white powder.

''Warning — Do not attempt to disturb or handle any suspicious packages along the shoreline. Contact local authorities immediately,'' Scharnweber wrote.

No other details about the origins of the fentanyl were immediately available.

This discovery hit Florida just weeks after a massive amount of fentanyl that could have killed three million people was seized in a drug trafficking investigation that spanned multiple counties, Breitbart News reported.

Kentucky police identify [known] subject of manhunt after ‘numerous' people shot on highway
[FoxNews] The mayor said that seven people have been injured in the shooting, with some of the victims shot and others hurt in an accident on the highway

Police are searching the woods near Interstate 75 just north of London, Kentucky, after "numerous persons" were shot on the highway around 6 p.m. near exit 49, officials confirmed Saturday evening.

Joseph A. Couch, 32, a person of interest in the shooting, is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

"If you have any information regarding the whereabouts or location on this individual please contact the London-Laurel County 911 Center," the London Police Department said.

The department warned that Couch shouldn't be approached. He is described as a White man about 5 foot 10 inches, weighing around 154 pounds.

London Mayor Randall Weddle in an update said he had been told that seven people were injured in the shooting, but not all of them were shot.

"Some of them was due to an accident," he said, adding that no deaths have been reported.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office said the highway was closed near the exit, which is nine miles north of London.

Police had originally responded to reports that a suspect was shooting at drivers from an overpass or a wooded area, multiple media accounts said.

The highway was closed between exits 41 and 59, FOX 56 reported, citing the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Libyan Attorney General Confirms Conviction in Al-Bija Assassination Case
[LIBYAREVIEW] The Libyan Attorney General has announced the conviction of Mohamed Bahroun, also known as ''Al-Far,'' the commander of the First Support Division, and one of his aides in the assassination of Abdelrahman Milad, widely known as ''Al-Bija.''

Today, Saturday, the judicial officer sent the preliminary procedural documents related to the assassination case of the deceased, Abdelrahman Salem Milad.

On Friday, the Office of the Attorney General confirmed that Mohamed Bahroun, commonly known as 'Al-Far', the commander of the First Support Brigade, has voluntarily submitted to investigative procedures related to the assassination of citizen Abdel Rahman Salem Milad, famously known as 'Al Bija'.

The judicial control unit of the Attorney General's Office took custody of Bahroun on Thursday, who complied voluntarily with the search and investigation processes. The assigned judicial officer has begun hearing his testimony and will present the findings to the investigative authority.

On Wednesday, the Office revealed that the investigative authority had directed the judicial officer to hear the testimony of the suspect who surrendered himself in the assassination case. Furthermore, the authority has issued orders to detain three additional suspects found to be implicated in the crime; the Interior Ministry has been directed to enforce these orders.

The Attorney General's Office disclosed that the investigative authority had managed to clarify the identities of two suspects believed to be involved in the assassination that took place between Tripoli and Zawiya.

US Air Force Academy cadet, 19, found dead in dorm room
[FoxNews] Cadet 4th Class Avery Koonce was from Taylor, Texas

The U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado has launched an investigation after a 19-year-old cadet was found dead in her dorm room this week.

Cadet 4th Class Avery Koonce, 19, of Taylor, Texas, was "found unconscious in her dormitory" on Wednesday night and attempted life-saving measures by first responders were unsuccessful, the Academy said in a statement. Koonce was set to graduate in 2028 and was a member of the women’s track and field team.

"We lost an incredible teammate... While only with us for a short time, Avery positively impacted her unit, her intercollegiate team, and her class – her loss will be felt across USAFA," Academy Superintendent Lt Gen Tony Bauernfeind said. "Our team is focused on providing support to Avery’s family, Cadet Squadron 38, the Track and Field team, and the entire Academy family."

"Avery, may you find blue skies and tailwinds as you rest forever in peace," the Academy added.

Koonce attended Thrall High School, according to the Austin American-Statesman, which quoted the district’s superintendent as saying that she was the president of the student council and leader of the National Honor Society.

"She was the epitome of our high school," Superintendent Tommy Hooker told the newspaper. "She is what you would want in a well-rounded student. Our community is at kind of at a loss with our feelings. We are just kind of devastated."

U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions, who nominated Koonce to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy outside of Colorado Springs, also told the Austin American-Statesman that he was "incredibly saddened to hear about the loss of Cadet Koonce."

"She was a thoughtful and articulate young woman, well prepared for success at the U.S. Air Force Academy. … Cadet Koonce was a remarkable leader and her loss is felt by her community in Texas and fellow USAFA Cadets," Sessions added.

If she was '28, then she had not only just started, she was likely still in 'Beast', the last part of the six week basic training all cadets get at a place called Jack's Valley. Once they're done there, they march back to the Academy and are accepted into the Cadet Wing.

German Rail System Reports Major Disruptions Due To A Technical Fault
[ABCnews] Germany's national rail company reported "massive" disruptions over parts of the country on Saturday, blaming a "technical disturbance" that was forcing many trains to wait at stations until the problem is cleared up.

An announcement on the Deutsche Bahn website said that "we are working on a fix at high speed."

Long-distance and local trains were completely halted in the area around Frankfurt in the southwest, Germany's ARD public television reported, saying that the fault was with a satellite radio communications system.
ARD reports that this was specifically a malfunction in the GSM-R system, which was the target of a sabotage attack in 2022. The cause is still unclear.

LL Flooring shutters all 442 stores after filing for bankruptcy
[POSTMILLENNIAL] American flooring company LL Flooring, previously known as Lumber Liquidators, has filed for bankruptcy and will be shuttering all of its 442 stores across 47 states. This, after being in business for the past three decades.

The retailer is one of the largest flooring companies in the US and is considered one of Home Depot's biggest rivals. Around 2,000 of its employees will now be without jobs.

The company informed customers about the bankruptcy in a letter sent on Wednesday, obtained by the Daily Mail.

"It is with a heavy heart that we must let you know that we are going to begin the process of winding down the business and closing all of our stores," LL Flooring said.

The company will now begin liquidating its inventory in order to close down its remaining stores. It had already shuttered 100 of its 442 stores to cut costs after being unable to obtain investors and find a buyer. The rest of the liquidations are scheduled to begin on Friday and will last for approximately 12 weeks.

Big Lots Prepares to File for Bankruptcy amid Inflation and Declining Sales
[BREITBART] The retailer known as Big Lots is preparing to file for bankruptcy as other companies across the United States have recently done.

Individuals with knowledge of the situation said the discount home goods store may file as early as Sunday, Bloomberg reported on Friday, noting the company is planning to sell its stores through a court-supervised process.

The article continued:

The company will continue to operate under Chapter 11 protection, the people said, and is in the process of lining up a so-called stalking horse bid, meaning it's subject to better offers should any materialize. The company has been working with advisers from AlixPartners and Guggenheim Partners on the bankruptcy and sale process.

Big Lots, which has around 1,400 stores and employs over 30,000 people, has suffered from declining sales for years, including in recent quarters as rising inflation squeezed the wallets of its budget-conscious shoppers. Its share price has plunged to around $0.50, after peaking above $72 in 2021.

The news comes after the restaurant chain Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy followed by affordable gym chain Blink Fitness, and Rite Aid pharmacy closed all its stores in Michigan and Ohio amid that company's recent bankruptcy filings.

for 'legitimising' the ruling regime following the latter's major shift in his stance on the coalition government amid parliamentary collaboration with the former ruling party.

"We never needed [Maulana Fazl] support, neither in the past nor today." Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif said while speaking on Geo News programme 'Naya Pakistain'.

The PTI leader's statement came as JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl seemingly lowered his rhetoric against the PML-N-led coalition government which he accused of coming to power via "rigged" February 8 general elections.

Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday, the JUI-F chief referred to the alleged manipulation in the election results saying whether the present parliament was a product of "Form 45 or 47", they had to accept and use it to address all the national issues.

Fazl also urged both the government and the opposition to confront the challenge of terrorism, saying parliament is the supreme institution.

The religio-political party and the PTI had reached a consensus on cooperation in the National Assembly and the Senate in August.

Both the parties, who have traditionally been arch-rivals, have held multiple interactions since the February 8 polls owing to their mutual concerns regarding alleged election result manipulation and irregularities in the polls.

During the IBO, the troops "surrounded and effectively engaged the terrorists' location, and sent two holy warriors to hell", the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists, it stated, adding that the hard boyz were actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against security forces as well as innocent civilians.

The troops launched a sanitisation operation in the area to neutralise any other terrorists, the ISPR said.

"Security forces of Pakistain, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," it concluded.

FSB releases documents on Nazi crimes at Donbass mine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The special services of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), as part of the "No Statute of Limitations" project, declassified documents from the KGB archive about the atrocities of German soldiers at the Stalino mine during the Great Patriotic War. This was reported on September 7 by the FSB Directorate of Russia for the republic.

The documents were handed over to the Donetsk Museum of the Great Patriotic War on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from the Nazi invaders. The acts contain information about the victims of the German occupiers at the 4-4-bis mine in Stalino.

"During the German occupation, the fascist invaders, from December 1941 to September 1943, exterminated Soviet citizens by shooting and in gas chambers. Moreover, a mine shaft was chosen as the place to hide the corpses," the documents state.

The first act listed the bodies and remains that had been discovered. Some showed signs of serious mutilation and bullet wounds. From a depth of 65 m, 61 male bodies, 23 female bodies, and seven children aged 10 to 18 were raised. It was specified that a total of 112 bodies had been recovered. Due to the absence of some body parts, some could not be identified.

The second act announced the creation of a special commission to investigate the circumstances of the destruction of Soviet citizens in the mine. It also provided forensic medical examination data on the methods used by German soldiers to kill civilians.

The FSB Directorate for the DPR noted that archival materials will be used to recognize the genocide of the people of Donbass by the Nazis and their accomplices during the Great Patriotic War.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on May 8, the DPR special services released documents from the archives of the State Security Committee, which testify to the mass genocide of Donbass residents during the Great Patriotic War. According to the declassified documents, the number of victims of the genocide of Donbass residents amounts to several thousand people, mainly women and children. The names of accomplices of the fascists, traitors who voluntarily went over to the side of the Germans for their own benefit, also became known.

Government Corruption
Elon Musk's X wins case against California over 'content moderation' law
[POSTMILLENNIAL] On Wednesday, a federal court ruled in favor of Elon Musk's X Corp in its case challenging Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,'s content moderation laws, citing free speech violations. X Corp filed a lawsuit to block the controversial law, which took effect on January 1, 2024.

The legislation requires social media companies to disclose details of their content moderation policies to the state or face civil penalties.

The 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
overturned a previous lower court's decision that ruled against pausing enforcement of the state law. The panel of three judges decided the law facially violated the First Amendment, Rooters reported.

"X Corp. is likely to succeed in showing that the Content Category Report provisions facially violate the First Amendment," Judge Milan D. Smith, Jr. wrote in his case opinion.

In the complaint filed in Sept. 2023, X Corporation argued that Assembly Bill 587 violates the company's First Amendment rights because it pressures "companies such as X Corp. to remove, demonetize, or deprioritize constitutionally-protected speech that the State deems undesirable or harmful" which "interferes with the constitutionally-protected editorial judgments" of the company.

The suit alleged that the law "places an unjustified and undue burden" on social media companies. The lawsuit was originally dismissed by US District Judge William Shubb in December 2023.

Assembly Bill 587, signed into law last September, aims to tackle extremism, hate speech, and online misinformation. According to the law, online businesses that collect personally identifiable information from Californians must make their privacy policies easily available to the public, as reported by Forbes.

The lawsuit argued that the "true intent" of the legislation "is to pressure social media platforms to 'eliminate' certain constitutionally-protected content viewed by the State as problematic."

Bangladesh
The case for Sheikh Hasina's extradition from India
(Asia Times) Ex-Bangladesh leader faces charges of murder, torture and crimes against humanity that can't credibly be tried without her courtroom presence

by Raisul Islam Sourav
September 6, 2024

Former Bangladeshi prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, fled to India in early August after a mass uprising forced her to step down. Her resignation followed weeks of unrest in which nearly 650 people were killed and many more injured.

Since then, at least 94 criminal cases have been lodged against Hasina and her cabinet members, followers and aides. The charges against them range from murder, torture, enforced disappearance and abduction, to crimes against humanity and genocide.

Courts do have the authority to hold a trial in Hasina’s absence. But this is unlikely to be fruitful as there will be questions regarding fairness, due process and the motive behind the trial. At the same time, implementing the court’s orders would be tough should Hasina not be present.

So, from the moment she escaped Bangladesh, there have been calls to extradite her to stand trial for the crimes that took place under her leadership. But it’s far from certain whether India would hand her over should Bangladesh seek her extradition.

Bangladesh can, in theory, request the return of Hasina from India. New Delhi and Dhaka signed an extradition treaty in 2013, which was subsequently amended in 2016 to simplify the process.

Both countries were eager for such a treaty. Two of the convicts involved in the 1975 assassination of Hasina’s father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was also the first president of Bangladesh, were at the time hiding in India. Hasina’s government wanted to extradite the men to Bangladesh for execution.

Some countries, like Canada, refuse to extradite fugitives if there is a possibility that they will be executed. However, as India also retains the death penalty, extradition was granted irrespective of whether the convicts would face execution on their return. The two men were handed over to Bangladesh in 2020

India, on the other hand, sought the handover of Anup Chetia, the general secretary of the banned United Liberation Front of Assam militant organization. Chetia, who had spent 18 years in prison in Dhaka, was returned to India in 2015.

According to the treaty, only crimes punishable by a minimum of one year in prison can be extraditable offenses. The offense must be punishable in both countries. The accusations against Hasina are prosecutable in India, and the punishments for her alleged crimes are also substantial, so she can be extradited on these grounds.

Article 10 of the treaty makes it even easier for the requesting country. It states that an arrest warrant issued from a court of law will be sufficient for the extradition without furnishing concrete proof of evidence against the offender. That said, no arrest warrant has been issued for Hasina at the time of writing.

However, the treaty itself also contains several provisions that could enable India to refuse an appeal for Hasina’s extradition. It could, for example, decline to return her on the grounds that the offenses are political in nature.

It is generally accepted that extradition will be refused for political or military offenses. This is justified by the need for states to remain detached from political conflict elsewhere, while also protecting the right of a state to grant asylum to political refugees.

The treaty does stipulate that an attempt to commit murder, manslaughter, kidnap, false imprisonment or incitement to murder shall not be regarded as a political offense. And the charges brought against Hasina so far mostly fall under these categories.

But, even then, the treaty says a request can be denied if Indian courts determine that the accusation was not made in good faith or in the interests of justice. Courts may deny extradition if they believe Hasina would face political persecution, unfair trial or inhumane treatment upon her return to Bangladesh.

This will not be easy for Bangladesh to disprove. Some of the ministers from Hasina’s government who have been arrested over recent weeks were physically assaulted by apparent bystanders when being taken to court and reportedly did not get the opportunity to be represented by a lawyer.

Several murder cases have also been said to be registered out of anger and resentment. Some people, including cricketer and ousted lawmaker, Shakib Al Hasan, have been charged as instigators or abettors when it is unclear whether the actual culprits have been indicted or not.

As a result, there are plenty of concerns over Hasina’s security and the fairness of any trial should she be returned to Bangladesh.

If Hasina’s safety is not guaranteed, then there is a chance she will be granted political asylum in India or elsewhere. Asylum would render the discussion of her extradition pointless as people with refugee status cannot be extradited. Hasina has successfully obtained political asylum from India before, following the assassination of her father.

But her stay in India this time around has become complex. The interim government in Bangladesh has revoked diplomatic passports, including Hasina’s.

She is now reportedly trying to seek asylum in one of the UK, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia or Finland. However, her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, has told the press that Hasina has not yet sought asylum anywhere and will "certainly go back" to Bangladesh when elections are declared.

The treaty itself cannot guarantee extradition in all cases. In practice, it merely provides a legal framework for mutual cooperation. The ultimate decision may rely more on diplomatic negotiations and the political will of both governments than it will legal arguments.

Iran border police seize huge crystal meth haul
Not captagon? I’m shocked.
[IRNA] The commander of Iran's Border Guard Police has announced that they have seized more than 150 kg of crystal meth on the northeastern border of the country.

A truck that intended to transport the narcotics to Iran

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
was identified, Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi said on Saturday.

The vehicle was confiscated at a border point in Taybad County, one of the main border points between Iran and Afghanistan.

Police found some 238 batches of crystal meth weighing 151.4 kg hidden in the truck, he noted.

Earlier in late January, Tehran Police Chief Abbas Ali Mohammadian had made the announcement that 230 kilograms of meth and 120 kilograms of liquid meth were seized.

India-Pakistan
Parallel US Regime Change Operations Likely Occurred In Pakistan & Bangladesh
(Zerohedge) Salt to taste but, unfortunately, not all that shocking anymore.
Two former leaders of major South Asian countries have reportedly accused the United States of covert regime change operations to topple their governments. One of the leaders, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, languishes in prison, on a perverse conviction that proves Khan’s assertion.

The other leader, former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheik Hasina, fled to India following a violent coup in her country. Their grave accusations against the U.S., as reported in the world media, should be investigated by the UN, since if true, the U.S. actions would constitute a fundamental threat to world peace and to regional stability in South Asia. The two cases seem to be very similar. The very strong evidence of the U.S. role in toppling the government of Imran Khan raises the likelihood that something similar may have occurred in Bangladesh.

In the case of Pakistan, Donald Lu, Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia and Central Asia, met with Asad Majeed Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S., on March 7, 2022. Ambassador Khan immediately wrote back to his capital, conveying Lu’s warning that PM Khan threatened U.S.-Pakistan relations because of Khan’s "aggressively neutral position" regarding Russia and Ukraine.

The Ambassador’s March 7 note (technically a diplomatic cypher) quoted Assistant Secretary Lu as follows: "I think if the no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington because the Russia visit is being looked at as a decision by the Prime Minister. Otherwise, I think it will be tough going ahead." The very next day, members of the parliament took procedural steps to oust PM Khan.

On March 27, PM Khan brandished the cypher, and told his followers and the public that the U.S. was out to bring him down. On April 10, PM Khan was thrown out of office as the parliament acceded to the U.S. threat.

We know this in detail because of Ambassador Khan’s cypher, exposed by PM Khan and brilliantly documented by Ryan Grim of The Intercept, including the text of the cypher. Absurdly and tragically, PM Khan languishes in prison in part over espionage charges, linked to his revealing the cypher.

The U.S. appears to have played a similar role in the recent violent coup in Bangladesh. PM Hasina was ostensibly toppled by student unrest, and fled to India when the Bangladeshi military refused to prevent the protestors from storming the government offices. Yet there may well be much more to the story than meets the eye.

According to press reports in India, PM Hasina is claiming that the U.S. brought her down. Specifically, she says that the U.S. removed her from power because she refused to grant the U.S. military facilities in a region that is considered strategic for the U.S. in its "Indo-Pacific Strategy" to contain China. While these are second-hand accounts by the Indian media, they track closely several speeches and statements that Hasina has made over the past two years.

On May 17, 2024, the same Assistant Secretary Liu who played a lead role in toppling PM Khan, visited Dhaka to discuss the US Indo-Pacific Strategy among other topics. Days later, Sheikh Hasina reportedly summoned the leaders of the 14 parties of her alliance to make the startling claim that a "country of white-skinned people" was trying to bring her down, ostensibly telling the leaders that she refused to compromise her nation’s sovereignty. Like Imran Khan, PM Hasina had been pursuing a foreign policy of neutrality, including constructive relations not only with the U.S. but also with China and Russia, much to the deep consternation of the U.S. government.

To add credence to Hasina’s charges, Bangladesh had delayed signing two military agreements that the U.S. had pushed very hard since 2022, indeed by none other than the former Under-Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, the neocon hardliner with her own storied history of U.S. regime-change operations. One of the draft agreements, the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA), would bind Bangladesh to closer military-to-military cooperation with Washington. The Government of PM Hasina was clearly not enthusiastic to sign it.

The U.S. is by far the world’s leading practitioner of regime-change operations, yet the U.S. flatly denies its role in covert regime change operations even when caught red-handed, as with Nuland’s infamous intercepted phone call in late January 2014 planning the U.S.-led regime change operation in Ukraine. It is useless to appeal to the U.S. Congress, and still less the executive branch, to investigate the claims by PM Khan and PM Hasina. Whatever the truth of the matter, they will deny and lie as necessary.

This is where the UN should step in. Covert regime change operations are blatantly illegal under international law (notably the Doctrine of Non-Intervention, as expressed for example in UN General Assembly Resolution 2625, 1970), and constitute perhaps the greatest threat to world peace, as they profoundly destabilize nations, and often lead to wars and other civil disorders. The UN should investigate and expose covert regime change operations, both in the interests of reversing them, and preventing them in the future.
You're trying to tell us that the UN is less corrupt than the US?
The UN Security Council is of course specifically charged under Article 24 of the UN Charter with "primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace and security." When evidence arises that a government has been toppled through the intervention or complicity of a foreign government, the UN Security Council should investigate the claims.

In the cases of Pakistan and Bangladesh, the UN Security Council should seek the direct testimony of PM Khan and PM Hasina in order to evaluate the evidence that the U.S. played a role in the overthrow of the governments of these two leaders. Each, of course, should be protected by the UN for giving their testimony, so as to protect them from any retribution that could follow their honest presentation of the facts. Their testimony can be taken by video conference, if necessary, given the tragic ongoing incarceration of PM Khan.

The U.S. might well exercise its veto in the UN Security Council to prevent such a investigation. In that case, the UN General Assembly can take up the matter, under UN Resolution A/RES/76/, which allows the UN General Assembly to consider an issue blocked by veto in the UN Security Council. The issues at stake could then be assessed by the entire membership of the UN. The veracity of the U.S. involvement in the recent regime changes in Pakistan and Bangladesh could then be objectively analyzed and judged on the evidence, rather than on mere assertions and denials.

The U.S. engaged in at least 64 covert regime change operations during 1947-1989, according to documented research by Lindsey O’Rourke, political science professor at Boston Collage, and several more that were overt (e.g. by U.S.-led war). It continues to engage in regime-change operations with shocking frequency to this day, toppling governments in all parts of the world. It is wishful thinking
You got that right.
that the U.S. will abide by international law on its own, but it is not wishful thinking for the world community, long suffering from U.S. regime change operations, to demand their end at the United Nations.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli drone strike kills three people in Lebanon
[IRNA] An Israeli drone attack in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
has killed at least three emergency workers, according to an announcement by the Lebanese Health Ministry.

It made the announcement on Saturday, saying that the emergency workers were killed after the strike hit their vehicle in the town of Froun.

The workers from the Lebanese Civil Defense -- which is a public emergency medical service involved in patient transportation, search and rescue activities and fire-fighting response — were extinguishing a fire in Froun when their vehicle was hit by the Israeli drone.

Lebanon's Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi condemned the Israeli attack, saying that such crimes are rejected under humanitarian law.

The Israeli regime has killed dozens of Lebanese civilians since fighting began with Hezbollah resistance movement at Lebanon's southern border on October 8.

The fighting began a day after Israel unleashed its devastating war on Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, with Hezbollah being engaged in festivities with the regime to support the Paleostinian people in Gaza.
