News] The Yemeni Armed Forces announced that the air defense forces were able to shoot down an American MQ-9 drone while it was conducting enemy reconnaissance and combat operations in the airspace of Saada Governorate, Yemen’s military front man Brigadier General Yahya Sare’e said in statement on Tuesday.

This is the second drone that our air defenses have successfully downed within 72 hours, and it is the ninth to be shot down during the battle of the Promised Conquest and Sacred Jihad battle in support of al-Aqsa Flood battle, according Yahya Sare’e.

#5  Children, cleaning, kitchen… maybe sewing and such, too. Also Koran — lots and lots of koran. That way they know what to think and can teach it to the next generation, their own and the neighbours’. There are those “perverse” enough to insist on, and can afford it, educating their daughters as well as their sons, so it’s important that they get the right kind of education.

The Jesuits laid out the method in their schools, which established a standard of excellence in secular subjects, and had such a strong gloss of Catholicism that the students cqme out inclined to favour the faith if not actually follow it. The Gulenists took the model and applied it so well to Islam that they had 1,000 or more schools in Turkey and around the world serving 2 million students — many on scholarship. In 2016 Turkey when President Erdogan broke with his BFF Fethullen Gullen, his government started taking them over, not just at home but elsewhere as well. We followed the process here, but Wikipedia summarizes well enough here.

PJ Media LIVE Blog: The Trump/Harris Debate We've All Been Waiting For
The final post of the evening. See the rest at the link.
Sep 10, 2024 10:48 PM ET
Stephen Green

The Dems got what they wanted tonight. The Progressive Axis — Harris and her ABC News foils — got under Trump’s skin and stayed there. Just as importantly, Harris was able to fire off her scripted talking points without interruption, correction, or serious questions.

So that part sucked.

The part that didn’t suck is that Harris didn’t do that thing Biden somehow managed in 2020 — to come across as likable. What I think most people saw was two people they didn’t particularly like. The difference is, they already knew they didn’t like Trump. Harris’s unlikability might have been news to them.

And, hey, don’t shoot the messenger here. I’m just talking about both candidates’ favorability ratings.

The State Steno Pool will chalk it up as a massive Harris win but I’m not sure how many viewers will actually buy it. Do they buy anything the SSP is selling anymore?

If there is another debate, I hope Trump preps harder. And mostly I want his coaches to push his buttons like an irate pedestrian stabbing at the crosswalk button. PUSH PUSH PUSH. He can rein it in — he just lacked the discipline tonight to do it.

But in the end, can anyone stand to listen to THAT VOICE for the next four or eight years?

Could tonight have gone better? Sure. But we have two more months to go.

Legal Insurrection collected all the tweets as they happened.

The Times of Israel has the whole thing on YouTube. The debate itself runs from the 1:00 hour mark to 2:45, with discussion before and analysis afterward.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran said to hold test launches ahead of response to Haniyeh killing, after failed April attack
[IsraelTimes] As part of the lessons learned from its underwhelming April attack on Israel, Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...

President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
in Tehran, widely attributed to Israel, a Western diplomat is quoted as saying by the Israel Hayom daily.

Half of the around 150 missiles Iran fired on April 13-14 failed to reach Israel, officials said in the attack’s immediate aftermath. Now, the official hints that covert operations by the US, Israel and other Western partners played a significant role in the high rate of failure. The official also points at faulty materials and shoddy workmanship by the Iranians.

In the April attack, Iran launched a large wave of around 300 attack drones and missiles from its territory toward the Jewish state, in the first-ever direct attack on Israel by the Islamic Theocratic Republic. The attack was carried out to avenge seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps members, including two generals, who were killed in an alleged Israeli Arclight airstrike

on a building near Tehran’s consulate in Damascus on April 1.

Tehran initially did not believe Israeli reports that they were only able to hit one airbase with minor damage, says the official, but when they understood that the reports were correct, they embarked on a process to understand what happened and how to remedy the situation, according to the official.

The command rooms at the al-Farouk mosque and an adjacent structure were used by the Hamas operatives to plan and carry out attacks against Israel and troops in Gaza, the IDF says.

To mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, the IDF says it carried out "many steps," including using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

"The Hamas terror organization systematically violates international law, brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the population as a human shield for terror activity," the military adds.

Iraq
Iraqi security officials report explosion at US-led coalition’s Baghdad airport base
[IsraelTimes] Iraqi security officials say a kaboom was heard late Tuesday at a US-led coalition’s base at Baghdad airport, a day before Iran’s president was due to visit.

The Iraqi forces’s statement, published by state news agency INA, says they are unable to determine "the origin of the earth-shattering kaboom" but that air traffic is continuing normally and no flights were interrupted.
What odds that it was not the work of one of the Shiite paramilitary militias on Iran’s payroll, dear Reader?

12th Anniversary of the Benghazi Attack – THE BENGHAZI BRIEF- remains the most in-depth research report CTH has ever produced. The brief took two years of research to assemble and contains hundreds of very specific citations supporting it.
[ConservativeTreehouse] Ten years after the brief was originally written in 2014, nothing within the outline has ever been identified as inaccurate. The full brief has been updated below adding context depth from current events.
Impressive job of work. Very long, very information dense, lots of hot links. It’s much too twisty for me to follow, honestly, being as I am only a junior analyst-in-training (thanks for the job title, SteveS!) It begins:
We know from the Bret Baier interview with Hillary Clinton that she was physically located at her 7th floor office in Washington DC on the night of the attack 9/11/12.

Unfortunately, we also know during the November 2012 Thanksgiving holiday a mysterious fire took place in that building. Well, actually directly above her exact office – cause undetermined.

A “fire” which preceded an unfortunate slip and fall for the Secretary, resulting in a concussion, which led to the discovery of a blood clot, that ultimately delayed her congressional testimony before a Senate Hearing into the events of the night in question.

We know the Libyan uprising began on February 10th of 2011, and we also know that sometime around the end of February 2011 President Obama signed a presidential directive authorizing the State Dept and CIA to begin a covert operation to arm the Libyan “rebels”.

We also know of a Second Presidential Finding Memo authorizing additional CIA covert action in 2012, this time in Syria. However, unlike the 2011 Libyan operation, we do not know the operational name of the second action in 2012 (Syria).

We know the Libyan “rebels” were positioned in two strategic places. Benghazi, and the port city of Darnah, both located in Northeastern Libya.

We know this 2011 Libyan covert operation came to be known as “Operation Zero Footprint“. We know Secretary Clinton and CIA head Panetta were the primary sponsors for the joint State Dept./CIA approach; and we know that specifically because of a U.N. Security Council resolution (unattended by Ambassador Susan Rice) the operation fell under the military command authority of NATO not (important to repeat), NOT, the U.S. Military.

We know by the time operation “Zero Footprint” began, AFRICOM commander General Carter Ham was removed from OPSEC oversight in the Libyan campaign, and NATO commander Admiral James G. Stavridis was in charge.

Stavridis was the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) at the time of the Libyan uprising. He retired as SACEUR in 2013

In 2011, 57-year-old Stavridis was the perfect pick for NATO Libyan intervention considering he is the son of Turkish immigrants. Turkey played a key role in what might be the most politically dangerous aspect of the events to the White House once the goals changed to redirection of the weapons from Operation Zero Footprint.

We know Operation Zero Footprint was the covert transfer of weapons from the U.S to the Libyan “rebels”. We also know the operation avoided the concerns with congressional funding, and potential for public scrutiny, through financing by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

We also know that officials within the government of Qatar served as the intermediaries for the actual transfer of the weapons, thereby removing the footprint of the U.S. intervention.

We know the entire operation was coordinated and controlled by the State Department and CIA. We also know (from the Senate Foreign Relations Benghazi hearings) that “Zero Footprint” was unknown to the 2011 Pentagon, and/or DoD commanders who would have been tasked with any military response to the 9/11/12 attack – namely AFRICOM General Carter Ham.

However, it would be implausible to think that then Defense Secretary Bob Gates or Joint Chiefs Chair Admiral McMullen were completely unaware of the operation. Even today, despite the numerous hearings and reports, this aspect remains murky.

Both Defense Secretary Gates and Joint Chiefs Chair McMullen were in place when Operation Zero Footprint began. However, both retired from their jobs in Sept of 2011, and were replaced by Leon Panetta and Martin Dempsey respectively.

Leon Panetta was CIA Director at the beginning of Operation Zero Footprint (March 2011) and was replaced by CIA Director David Petraeus in the fall of 2011 as Panetta replaced Bob Gates and became Secretary of Defense.

However, Panetta (now as Def Sec) and JC Martin Dempsey were the two who initially briefed President Obama on the night of Sept 11th 2012. This is an important fact to remember – because of his previous CIA role in constructing Zero Footprint, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta definitely had knowledge of the intents of the joint State Dept/CIA mission in Benghazi, Martin Dempsey may not have.

We know the White House appears to have followed “The Intelligence Oversight Act of 1980” in informing the congressional “Gang of Eight” of Zero Footprint.

The Gang of Eight in 2011 would have included: Speaker – John Boehner, Minority Leader – Nancy Pelosi; House Permanent Select Committee on Intel Chairman – Mike Rogers, and his Democrat counterpart Charles Ruppersberger; Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid; along with Senate Intel Chair Diane Feinstein and her Republican counterpart, Saxby Chambliss.

From Hillary interviews we also know the White House liaison for Secretary Clinton and CIA Director Leon Panetta during Operation Zero Footprint was National Security Advisor To the President, Tom Donilon.

With this information we can assemble a cast of people “IN THE KNOW” of Operation Zero Footprint on two specific date blocks. March 2011 through Pre 9/11/12 attack – and – Post 9/11/12 attack forward.

Government Corruption
Despised mayor of Illinois town throws $85k party despite plunging her budget into debt
[DM] A despised Illinois mayor threw an $85,000 party for her town, despite plunging her budget into debt and being cut off from the state for out-of-control spending.

Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard, 41, threw the event for the suburban Chicago town, spending $50,000 in taxpayers' money to cover 60 minutes of performances and more than $35,000 on activities, equipment and staff.

'I was flabbergasted. I was pissed off. That's my money. That's the people's money,' resident Jennifer Robertz told WGN 9.

Henyard - who was recently cut off by the Illinois State Comptroller after refusing to hand over finance records - spent $30,000 on R&B artist Keke Wyatt and $20,000 on rapper J. Holiday to each perform for 30 minutes at the The Taste of Thornton Township event.

The self-proclaimed 'super mayor' was seen enjoying the performances with a bright smile on her face, though images from the event show it was sparsely attended.

Henyard spent an additional nearly $36,000 on a sound system, staff, equipment, comedians, and bounce houses - which cost $6,600 alone, according to WGN 9.

Former Dolton trustee Valeria Stubbs called the event a 'flop' and said only about 70 people attended.

'She likes to use our tax dollars to promote herself,' Stubbs told WGN 9. 'She does all these events trying to buy the voters.'

Resident Sherry Britton added: 'Tiffany is a narcissist. She's going to do whatever she wants to do. I feel like she knows this is over but she's going to go down kicking and screaming like an MMA fighter. It's not going to stop until they put cuffs on her.'

Most of the event's contracts were signed before the township's trustees put spending controls in place, according to WGN 9.

Henyard was banned from using town credit cards last month after the Illinois village board of trustees brought in measures against her.

The trustees said that they will only allow the Director of Administrative Services to use the town's credit card for 'board-approved purchases.'

The high-rolling mayor, who earns $300,000 for her public duties, has spent thousands more on first-class trips, a professional hair and makeup team, and a security detail.

Henyard is also under a federal investigation for overspending.

Just a year after she took office in April 2022, Dolton had a $5.6million budget surplus.

But last month, a probe by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot uncovered a $3.6million deficit in the town's budget, which emerged under Henyard's tenure.

Henyard is said to have racked up eye-watering costs, including $40,00 spent on Amazon in a single day.

Cuomo Defends Directing Nursing Homes to Admit COVID-Positive Patients
[Epoch Times] Former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo appeared before Congress on Sept. 10 to defend his decision-making in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic when he governed the state. The governor’s March 2020 directive requiring nursing homes to accept COVID-19-positive patients has been widely criticized as a direct contributor to the state’s high number of pandemic fatalities.

Cuomo, however, told members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic on Monday the directive was not to blame for those deaths. "All credible studies now say that COVID came into nursing homes through community spread and infected staff, not hospital admissions or readmissions," he said.

Cuomo’s actions were defended by Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, who agreed with the former governor that President Donald Trump’s policies were primarily to blame for any excess pandemic deaths. "I confess, Mr. Chairman, that I’m appalled by the majority’s decision to evade and bypass the central events of the epidemic for totally political reasons," Raskin said, calling Trump’s response to the pandemic a failure.

Rep. Raul Ruiz (D-Calif.), the subcommittee’s ranking Democrat, asked the former governor whether it was his decision to change his state’s reporting of nursing home fatality data in May 2020 to exclude out-of-facility deaths, such as the deaths of residents who were transferred to hospitals.

Cuomo replied that it was not his decision and that he didn’t know whose it was.

Noting that the change artificially lowered New York’s reported number of nursing home fatalities, Ruiz asked whether that was the reason for the adjustment.

Cuomo said the change arose from increased inquiries "as the Republicans started this nursing home scandal theory."

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) criticized Cuomo for securing a $5 million book deal in the midst of the pandemic, saying he would "never hold elected office again." The former governor resigned from his post in August 2021 amid allegations of sexual harassment.

Did Kamala Harris Wear Audio Earrings During Presidential Debate? All You Need To Know
[NDTV World] These earrings, which resemble Nova H1 audio earrings, are designed to appear as stylish accessories while functioning as wireless earphones.

Following the first debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia on Tuesday, a new topic of discussion emerged on social media. Several users on X focused on Harris's unique earrings, sparking speculation about their purpose. Many X users, particularly Trump's supporters, suggested that the earrings might be earphones, implying they could have been used to receive assistance during the debate. These earrings, which resemble Nova H1 audio earrings, are designed to appear as stylish accessories while functioning as wireless earphones.
''It appears Kamala Harris was being coached by using earphones embedded in her earrings during the ABC presidential debate against President Trump," one user wrote on X.

Another person commented, ''I think Kamala did a great job tonight in the debate against Trump, who I think is a great orator and debater himself. But her earrings intrigued me a lot. Maybe because I got reminded of similar-looking ones from some tech article on an earphone that looks like earrings.''

India-Pakistan
India deploys troops to violence-hit region
[RT] The federal government has increased security in Manipur, where ethnic violence has claimed hundreds of lives since last year.

New Delhi has deployed thousands of troops to the northeastern Indian state of Manipur to address a resurgence of violence that has resulted in hundreds of deaths since last year.

The violence largely stems from a conflict between the majority Meitei community inhabiting the interior plains and the minority Kukis living in the surrounding hills. Since the start of the conflict in May 2023, approximately 200 people have been killed, and hundreds of thousands have been displaced.
...the majority in this case are Meitei, who are mostly Hindus and live in and around the city of Imphal, while the minority are the mainly Christian Kuki who live in the surrounding hills. The issue is that the Meirei want to be treated like another minority in order to get government set-asides, too. Apparently shame and raping Kuki womenfolk after beating and murdering their men is the way the Meitei have chosen to achieve this...
After a brief lull of about four months, a new wave of violence erupted in Manipur last week, with multiple attacks and killings reported across several districts. Media reports suggest that improvised rockets and drones were used to drop crude bombs, resulting in casualties.

India’s Home Ministry has ordered around 2,000 troops from the Central Reserve Police Force to the state, according to media reports on Monday, citing government sources.

On Tuesday, around 50 students were injured in a clash with security forces as they attempted to storm the chief minister’s residence and the governor’s house. In response, internet access has been suspended, and a curfew has been imposed in several districts – a similar measure introduced last year amid violent clashes.

Manipur University has postponed all undergraduate and postgraduate exams amid the ongoing unrest. Police have deployed anti-drone systems in the region and are acquiring additional anti-drone equipment and firearms, according to the Hindustan Times.

'Intifada in Paris': Influencer reported to French authorities after threatening remarks at rally
[Jpost] French political influencer Elias d’Imzalène has been reported to the public prosecutor by the French Interior Ministry after he called for an Intifada to be carried out in Paris, according to Le Parisien on Tuesday.

He made the remarks at a Sunday pro-Palestinian rally in Paris.

In footage published on X/Twitter of the demonstration, d’Imzalène can be seen calling to the crowds, "Are we ready to carry out an Intifada in Paris? In our suburbs? In our neighborhoods?

He added this should be conducted "to show them that the route to liberation comes from us, it starts in Paris and will pass through Marseille, and soon Jerusalem will be liberated."

D’Imzalène is the founder of the Islametinfo website and has been the proponent of the claim, which argues there is a "state Islamophobia" in France. According to French media, since 2021, d’Imzalène has been flagged by Fiche S, the marker identifying an individual thought to be a threat to national security.

France foiled 3 Olympic attack plots, with Israelis among the targets – official
[IsraelTimes] French prosecutor says Israeli team wasn’t ‘specifically’ aimed at; five people arrested, facing terrorism-related charges

French authorities foiled three plots to attack the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris and other cities that hosted the summer events, the national counterterrorism prosecutor said on Wednesday.

Olivier Christen said the plots included plans to attack “Israeli institutions or representatives of Israel in Paris” during the July 26 to August 11 Olympic competition. The prosecutor told broadcaster France Info that “the Israeli team itself was not specifically targeted.” He did not give further details.

In all, five people, including a minor, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the three foiled plots against the Summer Games, which were held against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Gaza and Russia’s war in Ukraine. The suspects are facing various terrorism-related charges while they remain in pre-trial detention, the prosecutor said.

France was on its highest security alert in the months ahead of the Olympics and Paralympics, which wrapped up last week. During preparations for the Games, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin repeatedly warned that security threats included those from Islamic extremist groups, violent environmental activists, far-right groups and cyberattacks from Russia or other adversaries.

In May, members of the General Directorate of Internal Security arrested an 18-year-old man from Chechnya on suspicion of being behind a plan to attack Olympic soccer events that were held in the southern city of Saint-Etienne.

The planned attack was to target “bar-type establishments around the Geoffroy stadium,” the prosecutor said. The suspect is accused of planning “a violent action” on behalf of the Islamic State group’s jihadist ideology.

Jihadists threats dominated the foiled plots and 80 percent of legal proceedings against suspects include the extremist ideology that still influences France’s youth, the prosecutor said. The Islamic State group continues to “spread propaganda,” he added.

Preventive measures included increased house searches and house arrests before the start of the Olympics, the prosecutor said, adding that police and other security personnel conducted 936 house searches so far in 2024, compared to 153 last year.

Man charged with plotting attack on NYC Jewish center was in Canada on student visa
[IsraelTimes] Canadian minister says Pakistani national entered country in May 2023, says police ‘did their jobs’ by arresting suspect before attack allegedly planned for Oct. 7 anniversary

A Pakistani man arrested last week in Quebec and accused of plotting to attack a Jewish center in Brooklyn came to Canada on a student visa, Canada’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller said Tuesday.

Miller said Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, was granted a student visa in May 2023 and arrived in Toronto in June of that year. Miller said he wouldn’t provide any more details since the case is before the courts.

Authorities in the US allege Khan planned to use guns and knives to carry out a mass shooting in support of the Islamic State jihadist group on the one-year anniversary of the devastating October 7 attack by Hamas that sparked the ongoing conflict in Gaza and elsewhere in the Middle East.

The Conservative opposition party in Canada have been demanding the government answer questions about how Khan was allowed into the country.

“We take any security breach and any entry into Canada very seriously,” Miller said. “Let’s not be naïve. A determined individual can gain access to this country and that is for the security services inside our country to apprehend this person if they commit a crime or if they’re about to commit a crime.”

Miller added that Canada’s police forces “did their jobs” by arresting the individual and that “we’ll let the court case take its course.”

Earlier this year a man and his son were arrested for allegedly plotting to carry out a terror attack in Toronto.

The father, Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi, has Canadian citizenship but the son, Mostafa Eldidi, does not.

The father is also accused of committing an aggravated assault in 2015 for the benefit of Islamic State somewhere outside of Canada.

Anti-Israel protesters clash with police in Melbourne; 39 arrested, 24 officers injured
[IsraelTimes] Rally at major defense fair turns violent as anti-war activists set fires, throw acid at cops; videos show chants of ‘From the river to the sea,’ calls for ‘unconditional ceasefire’

Anti-Israel and anti-war protesters and police clashed outside a defense exhibition in Australia’s second-largest city of Melbourne, with police using sponge grenades, flash-bang devices and irritant sprays to control parts of the hostile crowd.

A Victoria state police spokesperson said in a statement that police were pelted with rocks, horse manure and bottles filled with liquid as they tried to protect attendees of the expo, some of whom were assaulted by protesters.

Police said two dozen police officers required medical treatment and 39 people were arrested for offenses including assaulting, obstructing or hindering police, arson and blocking roads.

“Victoria police is appalled at the behavior of some of the protesters in attendance,” the police spokesperson said. “If you wish to come and protest, do so peacefully. We will not tolerate criminal behavior.”

“Some police have been spat at by protesters, whilst other officers have been sprayed with a liquid irritant, some of which has been identified as acid.”

Protesters, organized by groups including Students for Palestine,
…Hamas…
Extinction Rebellion
…eco-Antifa/Black Bloc anarcho-communist syndicalists….
and Disrupt Wars,
…no idea who they are, but they sound like Hamas-Antifa/Black Bloc anarcho-communist syndicalists — all very Toad The Wet Sprocket…
also lit fires in the street and disrupted traffic and public transportation, while objects were thrown at several police horses but no serious injuries were reported, police said.

Some 1,200 people attended the protest outside the venue hosting the biennial Land Forces International Land Defence Exposition, according to authorities.
All that for an obscure trade show??
Australian media reported it was the largest police operation in Melbourne since 2000, when the city hosted the World Economic Forum. Local police, fearing crowds of as many as 25,000 protesters, diverted resources from regional areas in anticipation.

About 1,000 exhibiting organizations from 31 countries were expected to attend the event through Friday, which the organizers said was Australia’s largest defense expo.

Some attendees were doused in a red liquid by protesters, ABC News reported.

Videos posted to social media showed many protesters chanting pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel slogans through loudspeakers and waving Palestinian flags while dumpsters were pushed toward police lines.

Dozens of people could also been heard shouting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” a chant condemned by many as a call for the elimination of Israel.

Some held signs calling for an “unconditional ceasefire” in Israel’s war against the Hamas terror group, apparently dismissing the need for the release of the 101 Israeli hostages held by terrorists in Gaza.

“We’re protesting to stand up for all those who have been killed by the type of weapons on display at the convention,” Students for Palestine national co-convenor Jasmine Duff said in a statement.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said people had the right to protest but had to do it in a peaceful manner.

“You don’t say you’re opposed to defense equipment by throwing things at police. They’ve got a job to do and our police officers should be respected at all times,” Albanese told Channel Seven.

Antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment have risen in Australia since Hamas’s October 7 massacre, which saw thousands of terrorists burst across the border into Israel, killing some 1,200 people and seizing 251 hostages, mostly civilians, amid acts of brutality and sexual assault.

In October, a few days after the unprecedented onslaught, Jewish Australians who were holding a vigil outside the Sydney Opera House were faced with antisemitic pro-Palestinian protesters who chanted “F*** the Jews” and “Gas the Jews,” although law enforcement later claimed that they were chanting, “Where’re the Jews” and not “Gas the Jews.”

In an effort to combat the spike in antisemitism, Albanese appointed an envoy in July to deal with the issue, as well as an envoy to address Islamaphobia.

IDF hits Hezbollah launchers after rocket fire
[IsraelTimes] Military says it struck a weapons factory, Hezbollah command room and other sites on Tuesday, as defense minister says ‘center of gravity is moving’ from Gaza to the north

Hezbollah rocket launchers used to fire some 45 rockets at northern Israel on Tuesday were targeted in IDF drone strikes, while Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told troops the military was in the process of shifting its attention from Gaza to Lebanon.

A barrage of 30 rockets was launched at the Mount Meron area in the afternoon, with the Israel Defense Forces reporting that some were intercepted and others struck open areas. Another 15 rockets were fired at the Western Galilee, some of which were intercepted by air defenses, the IDF added.

There were no injuries in the attacks.

The launchers were later hit in southern Lebanon’s at-Tiri and Mansouri, according to the military.

Additionally, Israeli fighter jets struck a building used by Hezbollah in Rachaf, the IDF added.

The military also confirmed that several drones were launched from Lebanon at northern Israel earlier in the evening.

The IDF said some of the drones were shot down, while others impacted near Kibbutz Ami’ad in the Upper Galilee. There were no injuries.

Footage showed a Hezbollah drone flying over northern Israel, as sirens sounded in Rosh Pina and several other towns.

Hezbollah took responsibility for the attack, claiming to have targeted an Israeli military site.

The IDF also said fighter jets struck a Hezbollah weapons manufacturing plant in southern Lebanon’s Jouaiyya earlier in the day, along with a command room and other buildings used by the terror group in Nabatieh, Mansouri, and Kafr Kila.

Separately, the IDF said a cell of Hezbollah operatives spotted in southern Lebanon’s Houla was targeted in an airstrike.

Speaking to troops during a drill simulating a ground offensive in Lebanon, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel is shifting its focus to the northern front as it aims to soon achieve its objectives in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas issues rare statement attributed to Sinwar; hostage envoy floats safe passage
[IsraelTimes] Terror chief congratulates Algerian president on election in message hailing Oct. 7 onslaught; US said to be at odds with fellow mediators over who to blame for lack of Gaza deal.

Sinwar, who was named Hamas’s top leader after Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in late July, is believed to be hiding in tunnels under the Gaza Strip and has issued few public statements since the launch of the October 7 attack that he’s accused of masterminding.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant this week vowed Israel would kill Sinwar and his brother Muhammad, a senior commander in Hamas’s military wing, though the government’s official point person on efforts to free the Gaza hostages said Tuesday that if Sinwar relinquishes the terror group’s control of the Strip and releases all the hostages, Israel would provide him with safe passage out of the enclave.

Speaking to Bloomberg during a visit to Washington, Gal Hirsch said he was “ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him.”

“We want the hostages back,” he aded. “We want demilitarization, de-radicalization of course — a new system that will manage Gaza.”

Hirsch said that he presented the offer a day and a half ago, but did not elaborate on whether or not there has been any interest in the offer from the other side of the negotiating table.

MEDIATORS SAID DIVIDED ON WHO TO BLAME FOR LACK OF DEAL
Israeli television, meanwhile, reported Tuesday that the United States is at odds with fellow mediators Egypt and Qatar regarding who is to blame for the failure thus far to reach a hostage-ceasefire agreement.

While the US is supportive of Israel, and has publicly stated that Hamas is to blame for the deadlock — including on its demands regarding the releases of Palestinian security prisoners — Egypt and Qatar “think the opposite,” Channel 12 news reported.

The disagreement is so profound that Egypt and Qatar have “considered issuing a joint statement blaming Israel for the failure of the contacts,” the report said.

White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby, saying Monday that the US was “working night and day” to try to get a deal in place, specified that “Hamas is the main obstacle to this right now.”

Earlier Tuesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said “not even a handful of issues” remain, and that they are “hard but fully resolvable.”

According to the Channel 12 report, Israel’s negotiators fear the differences between the mediators will further delay a possible deal.

The network also reported that Qatar and Egypt have no real leverage over Hamas.

Hamas has thus far brought in $500 million by commandeering and selling the supplies that enter the Strip at a rate of 200 trucks a day.
It noted that Hamas has been deprived of its smuggling route along the Philadelphi Corridor at the Gaza-Egypt border but is profiteering massively from humanitarian aid. It cited an estimate made known to the security establishment that Hamas has thus far brought in $500 million by commandeering and selling the supplies that enter the Strip at a rate of 200 trucks a day. Hamas, the report said, uses the money, among other purposes, to recruit new gunmen — of whom it said there are now 3,000 in northern Gaza.

According to the channel’s Arab affairs analyst Ohad Hemo, Hamas has reasserted “full governance” in northern Gaza, where it has resumed paying salaries to some of its officials.

BEN GVIR REPORTEDLY EXCLUDED FROM NEW SECURITY FORUM
Channel 12 also reported Tuesday evening on a brief disagreement that broke out between government ministers during the cabinet meeting in which they were shown footage of the tunnel in Gaza where the six hostages executed by Hamas were held.

The report said ministers were told that the footage was being shown to them at the request of the families of the hostages, who hoped that seeing the harsh conditions would help change the minds of lawmakers who opposed a deal for their release.

At this point, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir retorted that he, too, “spoke with the families,” and that “not everyone wants a deal, there are those who want to increase the military pressure,” the report stated.

Science and Technology Minister Gila Gamliel was said to have then told the ultranationalist leader to “stop shouting and let them show us the footage as the families requested.”

The report added that several ministers were brought to tears by the harrowing footage of the tunnel where the hostages were held and murdered, but did not specify which lawmakers.

Separately, the Kan public broadcaster reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has established a new forum to deal with matters pertaining to war management that does not include Ben Gvir, three months after the war cabinet was disbanded after the National Unity party left the government to protest the premier’s handling of the war. Ben Gvir has repeatedly voiced his desire to be among those making the decisions in the war.

The new forum will receive security briefings from IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi and the heads of Israel’s defense establishments regarding developments on all fronts, the report said.

According to Kan, the limited forum is made up of Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, Foreign Minister Israel Katz, Shas party leader Aryeh Deri and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.

A source close to Netanyahu alleged to the broadcaster that Smotrich was invited to join the forum because the premier “trusts him not to leak the proceedings, and to try and convince him to support the deal to release the hostages.”

Netanyahu’s Likud party previously accused Ben Gvir of leaking “state secrets and private conversations.”

Man critically injured as Palestinian tanker rams West Bank bus stop
Guess the driver forgot to clack-off his vest.
[IsraelTimes] Footage shows truck careening full speed into guard post near recently legalized Givat Assaf settlement; earlier, 5 Palestinians reported killed by airstrike in Jordan Valley’s Tubas

An Israeli soldier was run over and killed Wednesday at a West Bank bus stop in an apparent attack by the driver of a fuel tanker, reinforcing worries that violence in the territory could continue to heat up.

The incident, outside an Israeli settlement near Ramallah, came as security officials have reportedly sought to beef up anti-terror activity in the West Bank, and hours after Palestinians reported that five people had been killed in an Israel Defense Forces drone strike in a town in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley.

Footage from the scene of the attack showed a truck with Palestinian license plates veer off a busy highway and barrel full speed into an IDF guard post adjacent to a bus stop before coming to a halt.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said it treated an Israeli man in his 20s who suffered critical injuries in the attack. He was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified by the military as a soldier.

He was named by the IDF as Staff Sgt. Geri Gideon Hanghal, 24, of the Kfir Brigade’s Nahshon Battalion, from the northern city of Nof Hagalil.

The assailant was shot at the scene by soldiers and an armed civilian, the IDF said, describing the incident as terrorism. Forces deployed to the scene were setting up roadblocks, the army added.

The apparent assault occurred on Route 60 outside Givat Assaf, a former wildcat outpost that the government retroactively legalized in late June, though the settlement’s homes remain unauthorized amid claims that they were placed on private Palestinian land.

The suspect was named by Israeli security sources as 58-year-old Hayil Dhaifallah, from the central West Bank town of Rafat. His condition was not immediately clear, the Palestinian Authority’s official mouthpiece Wafa reported.

The IDF later operated at the assailant’s home to measure it for potential demolition.

The apparent attack was the latest to raise fears of a drastic resurgence in violence in the West Bank, after a series of attempted suicide bombings claimed by Hamas in recent weeks as well as a shooting attack on the Jordanian border Sunday that killed three Israelis.

According to Israeli authorities, 33 people including Israeli security personnel have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank since October 7, when the war against Hamas in Gaza started with the terror group’s massacre in southern Israel. Another six members of the security forces were killed in clashes with terror operatives in the West Bank over that period.

Much of the violence over the past month has taken part in areas of the West Bank outside the northern third of the territory where the IDF has concentrated anti-terror efforts in recent years, including a major 10-day operation in refugee camps connected to Jenin, Tulkarem and the Jordan Valley town of Tubas that ended Saturday.

The Palestinian health ministry in the West Bank said Wednesday that five Palestinians were killed in an airstrike in Tubas overnight. Another two people were injured by Israeli fire, one critically, as troops raided Tubas and the neighboring town of Tammun, Wafa reported.

An IDF spokesperson confirmed carrying out an airstrike, saying it targeted members of a terror cell.

Palestinian authorities did not say whether those killed or injured by Israeli fire were civilians or members of armed groups.

Once a rare occurrence, the IDF has carried out more than 70 airstrikes in the West Bank since October 7, using drones, attack helicopters, and fighter jets.

A report earlier this week suggested that defense brass were increasingly worried that the violence in the West Bank could swell into a major conflagration, with the military already stretched by intense fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Lebanese terror group Hezbollah on the northern border.

According to Channel 12 news, the heads of various security agencies told the cabinet Sunday that Israel “must do everything to avoid another front,” warning that “what is happening in the West Bank could blow up in all of our faces.”

Israeli officials have previously said that the violence is being helped along by Iran-backed groups smuggling weapons into the West Bank from Jordan and encouraging attacks.

Hardline Israeli settlers in the central and northern West Bank have also appeared to step up attacks on Palestinians in recent weeks, including a fiery rampage on a village last month in which a Palestinian man was killed while trying to confront the rioters.

On Wednesday, the Yesh Din organization said extremist youths burned and cut down dozens of olive trees belonging to a Palestinian farmer from the village of Burin in the northern West Bank.

Video footage shared by Yesh Din, an Israeli group that campaigns against settler violence, showed masked individuals holding chainsaws and wearing religious Jewish garb leaving an olive grove as fires burn by several trees.

The group was later seen walking toward a yeshiva in Yitzhar, a settlement with a long history of extremism southwest of Burin.

According to the PA health ministry, more than 670 West Bank Palestinians have been killed by Israelis since October 7. The IDF says the vast majority of them were gunmen killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or terrorists carrying out attacks.

Troops have arrested some 5,000 wanted Palestinians across the West Bank over the same time period, including more than 2,000 affiliated with Hamas.

2 soldiers killed, several injured in helicopter crash in south Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Black Hawk flew to Rafah to evacuate seriously wounded combat engineer; due to unknown reason, it failed to touch down correctly in IDF encampment

Two soldiers were killed and several were injured when an Israeli Air Force helicopter crashed in the southern Gaza Strip early Wednesday, in what the military described as an accident.

They were named by the Israel Defense Forces as Sgt. Maj. (res.) Daniel Alloush, 37, from Tel Aviv, and Sgt. Maj. (res.) Tom Ish-Shalom, 38, from Nes Harim. Both served in the IAF’s elite search and rescue Unit 669.

According to an initial IAF probe, a UH-60 Black Hawk from the 123rd Squadron flew to Rafah with a Unit 669 medical team on Tuesday night to evacuate a combat engineer seriously wounded in fighting in the area.

During the final landing stage inside an Israeli army encampment in Rafah at around 12:30 a.m., the helicopter impacted the ground instead of touching down correctly.

According to the probe, the helicopter was not hit by enemy fire, and the crash occurred moments before it was supposed to land, meaning it did not fall from a significant height.

The helicopter was still heavily damaged in the crash, and all those aboard it were injured.

In all, two soldiers were killed and another eight were taken to hospitals — including the combat engineer who was injured separately during fighting in Rafah.

Among the seriously wounded in the crash were two pilots and a mechanic with the IAF’s 123rd Squadron; and a reservist doctor and another soldier with Unit 669.

Additionally, a reservist Unit 669 doctor and another mechanic with the 123rd Squadron were moderately wounded in the crash, the IDF said.

The seriously wounded combat engineer, who was supposed to be evacuated by the crashed Black Hawk, served with the 710th Combat Engineering Battalion.

It was still unclear what led to the crash, although the IAF described it as an accident.

IAF Chief Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar ordered a probe to determine why the helicopter impacted the ground in the encampment instead of landing correctly.

Black Hawk helicopters, known in the IAF as the Yanshuf — Owl in Hebrew — are used for both routine transportation missions and to drop off and pick up troops during military operations. Amid the war in Gaza, the choppers have been used for medical evacuations from inside the Strip, taking close to 2,000 wounded soldiers to hospitals in Israel.

Rep. James Comer: Billions in pandemic fraud is the culmination of years of government incompetence
[JustTheNews] Representative James Comer (R-KY) says the billions of dollars in pandemic unemployment relief fraud is the result of “years and years” of government incompetence. “Government is so bad that the bureaucrats now don’t have any remorse or concern about the taxpayer dollars,” he says. “Look, we’ve proven that they wasted as much as $200 billion—that's one-fifth of a trillion dollars—through fraud in the COVID unemployment programs and worse, no one’s been held accountable."

ICE incapable of monitoring unaccompanied minors released into U.S., probe finds
[JustTheNews] Missing children are “considered at higher risk for trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor”

The Inspector General for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security issued a management alert to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to make it aware of an urgent issue: ICE is incapable of monitoring hundreds of thousands of unaccompanied children (UACs) released into the country by the Biden-Harris administration.

“We found ICE cannot always monitor the location and status of unaccompanied migrant children who are released from DHS and HHS custody,” HHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari said in a memo to the deputy director of ICE.

“Without an ability to monitor the location and status of UCs, ICE has no assurance UCs are safe from trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor,” the alert states.

In response, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, requested additional information from HHS about UAC oversight, saying, “lax vetting has placed migrant children in grave danger of exploitation and abuse and makes locating these children after placement difficult, something I fear hinders the work of DHS as well.”

The DHS OIG report found that not only was ICE incapable of monitoring the location and status of all UACs but it was also incapable of initiating removal proceedings as needed.

ICE transferred more than 448,000 UACs to the care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement, which is responsible for their care, from fiscal years 2019 to 2023. Over the same time period, ICE neglected to issue notices to appear (NTAs) before an immigration judge for 65% of UACs transferred from DHS custody, according to the OIG report, leaving them in limbo.

Of the 448,000 UACs who illegally entered the country and were placed with sponsors through ORR, the majority arrived under the Biden-Harris administration: roughly 366,000, or 81%, between fiscal years 2021 and 2023, Grassley notes.

The report also found that ICE agents didn’t issue NTAs for immigration court hearings to all UACs who were flagged to be removed from the country, despite being required by federal law to do so, the OIG report found.

ICE failed to issue NTAs to at least more than 291,000 UACs who should have been placed in removal proceedings but weren’t, as of May 2024, according to the report.

“ICE was not able to account for the location of all UCs who were released by HHS and did not appear as scheduled in immigration court,” the report states.

At least 32,000 UACs who were given NTAs didn’t show up to their immigration court hearing and ICE doesn’t know where they are. Additionally, ICE didn’t always inform ORR when UACs didn’t show up, contributing to multiple agencies not being able to account for their whereabouts, the report found.

To make matter worse, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officers weren’t looking for them, according to the report.

Officers from only one of eight ICE ERO field offices that OIG staff visited said they attempted to locate missing UACs.

Federal agencies not scheduling immigration court dates appears to be a consistent problem, according to several audit reports.

From January 2021 to February 2024, one audit found that 200,000 asylum or other immigration cases were dismissed because DHS didn’t file paperwork with the courts in time for scheduled hearings, The Center Square reported.

Prior to that, 50,000 illegal foreign nationals released into the U.S. by ICE failed to report to their deportation proceedings during a five-month period analyzed in 2021, The Center Square reported. ICE also didn’t have court information on more than 40,000 individuals it’s supposed to prosecute, according to the report, and more than 270,000 illegal foreign nationals were released into the U.S. “with little chance for removal” during that time period, the report found.

Not knowing the whereabouts of the UACs “occurred, in part, because ICE does not have an automated process for sharing information internally between the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA) and ERO, and externally with stakeholders, such as HHS and the Department of Justice (DOJ), regarding UCs who do not appear in immigration court,” the OIG report found.

ICE-ERO also hasn’t developed a formal policy or process to find UACs who don’t show up to their court dates, has limited oversight for monitoring them, and faces resource limitations, the OIG says. Nevertheless, “ICE must take immediate action to ensure the safety” of UACs and provide it with the corrective action it will take.

UACs who miss their court dates “are considered at higher risk for trafficking, exploitation, or forced labor,” the OIG says.

Earlier this year, Grassley led a group of 44 senators to introduce a resolution to reform ORR oversight after multiple allegations of sexual abuse of UACs were reported and more than 100,000 UACs appear to be missing, The Center Square reported.

Texas, California and Florida have received the most UACs of all states, The Center Square first reported, with each state receiving record numbers in fiscal 2023. For some states, fiscal 2023 numbers represent 20% or more of the total they received since 2015 or dwarfed previous years.

On 9-11 anniversary, a tale of two suspected terrorists raises concerns about double standard
[JustTheNews] A former top FBI official says he's concerned that the FBI stopped one alleged terrorism suspect targeting a Jewish center, but knowingly let another one into the U.S. eventually charged with planning to kill Trump.

Just two months apart, the FBI stopped two Pakistani men near the border. Both were on the terrorist watchlist. Both are now charged with plotting heinous crimes. But one was stopped in Canada before he crossed the border, while the other was allowed to enter for weeks despite concerns he was working with Iran to assassinate Donald Trump.

The vastly different treatment of Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, now charged with plotting to shoot up a Jewish center in New York, and Asif Raza Merchant, charged in the Trump assassination plot, has perplexed security experts, confounded members of Congress and even left a former top FBI G-man without explanation on this 23rd anniverary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

"The scenarios don’t compute," said Bassem Youssef, a decorated retired FBI counterterrorism unit chief and former whistleblower who for years ran one of the bureau's most sensitive terror-fighting tools that culled phone records looking for possible threats.

Just the News has been in constant contact in recent days with federal law enforcement officials in multiple agencies, all of whom are concerned about the disparate handling of Khan's and Merchant's cases, noting that the first diverged from protocols designed to keep terror threats outside the border while the second conformed to normal, traditional tactics.

Congress, meanwhile, has been astounded to learn that as many as 100 suspected terrorists on U.S. watchlists have been let into the country under the Biden-Harris administration.

“There's no ability to stop the terrorists when you've got a wide open border, when you're having thousands of people cross the border every day, and you don't do anything about it, the odds of one or two terrorists being in those mobs that are crossing the border pretty high," House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer told the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show Tuesday.

"And it's, in all honesty, almost impossible for a government agency to pinpoint those people once they get in,” Comer added.

Youssef, who retired from the FBI in 2016, told Just the News the disparate handling of the two cases “raises many questions," especially the FBI’s failure to keep Merchant out of the country. He added the concerns are even more troubling in light of recent reports that former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard was improperly flagged on a watchlist.

Youssef said that “the arrest of Khan seems on the surface to follow the usual protocol of cooperation between the U.S. and Canadian authorities, however, there’s no reasonable explanation for placing a former member of Congress on a Watch List unless the agency has credible intelligence that the Congresswoman poses a threat to national security."

"The fact that former Rep. Gabbard is a member of former President Trump’s transition team makes one wonder about the legitimacy of her placement on a Watch List," he added.

Youssef said the details on Merchant's case did not follow the normal protocols agents follow with terror suspects.

“With all of the above triggers in place, the only plausible explanation for the FBI granting Merchant entry in the U.S. is if he was a source of the FBI. If that was the case, then the FBI failed in vetting their source who was targeting a former president of the United States and a current presidential candidate,” Youssef said.

“On the other hand, if the FBI allowed Merchant entry to the U.S. to gather intelligence on and identify his connections with a possible terrorist network operating on U.S. soil - such an operation would have to have been approved at the highest levels of the FBI and DOJ. Additionally, Merchant would have been a target of electronic and physical surveillance," he added.

The FBI declined to comment Tuesday on these cases beyond the public court documents and press releases.

Last week, Khan, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was arrested for a plot to gain entry to the United States through the northern border and conduct a mass shooting at a Jewish Center in New York City, according to the Justice Department press release. Jadoon was motivated to “kill as many Jewish people as possible, all in support of ISIS,” U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams said in a statement. Khan was not allowed into the country and Williams said he plans to seek Khan's extradition from Canada for prosecution.

Around November 2023, the government says Khan started communicating via social media and an encrypted messaging app and shared ISIS propaganda videos and literature. After coming into contact with undercover law enforcement officer, Khan said that he and a U.S.-based associate were planning to conduct a terrorist attack in the country. They eventually settled on a Jewish center in New York City. According to the DOJ, he bragged that the planned attack would be “the largest Attack on US soil since 9/11.”

On September 4, Khan attempted to cross the U.S.-Canada border, but was stopped in a small town 12 miles north of the border by Canadian law enforcement.

Immigration memos reviewed by Just the News show Khan was flagged on a terror watchlist. The database includes warnings for border patrol: “APPROACH WITH CAUTION” and “DO NOT ADVISE THIS INDIVIDUAL THAT THEY MAY BE ON A TERRORIST WATCHLIST.”

Like Khan, Merchant was also flagged in the federal database, Just the News previously reported. The immigration records from Merchant's arrival in Houston on April 13 clearly stated in bright red that he was flagged by the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) database with the identifier “WATCH LIST” and denoted as a "Lookout Qualified Person of Interest.”

Unlike Khan, the DHS and FBI permitted him to enter the country on a “significant public benefit parole” despite being flagged on a terror watchlist and recently traveling to Iran, a designated state sponsor of terror, Just the News reported last month. Neither the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services not the FBI have told the public exactly what "public benefit" Merchant purportedly offered.

“Parole based on significant public benefit includes, but is not limited to, law enforcement and national security reasons or foreign or domestic policy considerations,” the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website says.

The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force interviewed Merchant, fingerprinted him and inspected the contents of his electronic devices when he arrived at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, in Houston, but then let him leave with the special parole that expired on May 11, the memos show.

Merchant was then allowed to freely move around the country until July 12. At that point, a confidential human source ascertained he had tried to line up assassins and was planning to leave the United States, the FBI said. It was at this time that he was arrested.

In the complaint against him charging him with organizing a “murder-for-hire” plot in a scheme to assassinate U.S. politicians or government officials, the DOJ and FBI said Merchant was working “on behalf of others overseas” and pointed the finger at Iran.

The revelation that Merchant was stopped at a port of entry but allowed to enter the United States, despite having terror ties, follows a report from the House Judiciary Committee that found the Biden administration’s DHS released 99 individuals on the terrorist watch list into the country between fiscal years 2021 and 2023 and has 34 others in custody who have not yet been removed.

During those years, CBP encountered individuals from 36 different countries with an active terrorist presence, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen, the report says.

In June, eight men from Tajikistan were arrested in coordinated sting operations across the United States because their suspected ties to the Islamic State terror group. All eight of the suspects crossed the southern border, but their criminal background checks were clean when they crossed, NBC News reported.

Berlin Continues to Tighten Immigration Controls: Asylum Seekers to Be Turned Away at Border
[Breitbart] Germany announced a string of proposals Wednesday to enforce its hardened stance on immigration and reduce the number of asylum seekers trying to enter the country and stem terrorist threats along with cross-border crime.

Berlin says it must tackle irregular migration due to overburdened public services and to protect the public from threats such as Islamist extremism.

The move comes as a day after it was announced Germany would start carrying out strict controls on all its land borders to turn away any possible illegal entries, as Breitbart News reported.

The latest proposals, as noted by Reuters, include detaining asylum seekers while authorities determine whether Germany is responsible for processing their case with the help of Europe’s shared fingerprint database, Eurodac, amongst other tools, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser told a news conference.

“We want people whose asylum procedure is the responsibility of another E.U. country to be sent back there,” Faeser said.

The Reuters report notes the measures reflect Germany’s hardening stance on immigration in the wake of high arrivals of asylum seekers from both the Middle East and Ukraine which could strain relations with other European states.

“We will approach our European partners at a high political level to ensure that they give their approval for readmission to the respective countries more quickly so that the European rules are complied with,” Faeser said.

The German Federal Police Union (DPolG Bundespolizei) confirmed its members remain well-positioned for the checks at the land borders, Die Welt reports.

There are “sufficient forces” to take on this task, said the federal chairman of the union, Heiko Teggatz, to the Rheinische Post in Düsseldorf.

“We can handle this from everyday business, so we won’t need any additional staff for this,” he emphasized.

During the additional border controls, cars should be flagged down at random and checked. Teggatz does not expect any “serious impacts” on traffic. “The federal police will ensure the controls in combination with stationary measures and veil searches.”

UK sells peaches from Fukushima nuclear disaster region
[BBC] British luxury retailer Harrods has begun selling peaches from Japan's Fukushima region as part of efforts to restore trust in produce grown there following 2011's nuclear disaster.

The sale of the fruit at Harrods for £80 ($104) per box of three marks the first time peaches from Fukushima have been available in a European store.

The meltdown of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant's reactors after a devastating tsunami caused a radiation leak that is still being dealt with to this day.

Since 2011, farms in the region - which is the second-largest producer of peaches in Japan - have struggled to sell their produce because of contamination fears.

The peaches' sale at Harrods is part of efforts by the power plant's operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco), to restore the region's reputation internationally.

It comes two years after the UK lifted its last import restrictions on Fukushima food products and following trial sales at cultural events.

Harrods is due to also begin selling a variety of grape called the Shine Muscat from the region in October.

Tepco has also staged similar campaigns in countries including the US and Thailand.

All farm and fishery produce exported from the area now has to undergo radiation testing.

Houston Mayor surprises police cadets graduating academy with raises
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Houston Mayor John Whitmire announced a $10,000 raise for police cadets and additional incentives during a visit to the academy.

Whitmire visited members of Cadet Class #267 on Monday alongside newly-installed police chief Noe Diaz.

There he revealed the cadets will receive a boost in their base salary from $42,000 to $52,000. After they complete the academy and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Certification they will get a $5,000 one-time incentive.

Once they finish their probationary period, the officer's salary will increase to $62,574.

'This is an investment in the men and women of our police department who put their lives on the line daily to keep our community safe,' said Whitmire.
There’s a cost to all the talk about defunding the police.

Disgruntled employee douses women in gasoline and sets them on fire outside Detroit workplace
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A disgruntled employee doused two women in gasoline and set them on fire outside a Detroit, Michigan workplace.

An unidentified male suspect who was 'recently suspended or terminated' from his job at Tompkins Products approached his former co-workers - one in 50s and one in her 60s - around 6.00am Monday.

He allegedly covered the vehicle they were sitting in with the accelerant and lit the car on fire before fleeing the scene.

Chief James White with the Detroit Police Department said the angry man targeted the women because he saw them 'as being part of the reason he was suspended' from the company, which is a screw machine supplier.

The female workers were taken to a nearby hospital after suffering severe burns to their face, neck, upper torso and shoulders. They are expected to survive.

The man attacked the women as they were getting out of the car they arrived in together for their shift that morning.

He then poured gasoline on the outside of the vehicle before taking a cigarette lighter to it, Dennis Richardson, Chief of the Detroit Fire Department Fire Investigation Division, said.

Richardson told WDIV it appeared the woman were 'self-extinguished' by the time emergency personnel responded.

Thomas Saldana, an employee who witnessed the horrid act, told WXYZ he pursued the suspect and knocked him off his bike while two other bystanders held him until police arrived minutes later.

The suspect was taken to the hospital after suffering minor injuries.

He is expected to face criminal charges, including attempted murder, White said.

'My last briefing was that it was likely to be an attempted murder charge. But we're going to be going after some additional charges.

'Fire is looking at some things with some arson charges as well. But, we're going to be looking for, at the very least, an attempted murder charge,' White said.

The Sheriff added that the suspect 'didn't appear intoxicated' at the time of the incident but has 'very violent priors.'

#2  I read somewhere that in a war like this both sides will try to keep it from escalating too far, whatever too far is, because that is not in the interest of either side. I don't believe anybody wants it to go nuclear. But if Western missiles keep hitting Russia, Putin might be excused from thinking that hitting back at Ukraine is not enough. My fear is that Blinken doesn't know any better than to push Putin too far. He seems to me like a guy who is overcompensating from a well deserved inferiority complex. Ohio AG launches investigation into Haitian migrant 'disaster' amid claims they are decapitating and eating ducks
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Ohio's attorney general slammed the federal government for an influx of Haitian migrants as he reacted to wild claims that they are eating pets and driving recklessly.

Republican Dave Yost directed his office to research legal avenues to stop 'the federal government from sending an unlimited number of migrants to Ohio communities,' particularly the city of Springfield.

'There’s got to be a limiting principle,' Yost said in a statement on Monday. 'We’re going to find a way to get this disaster in front of a federal judge.'

The AG said that the migrant influx has strained the state' social services and said the federal government has not worked with local officials to prepare for the newcomers.

Yost added: 'This is absurd – Springfield has swollen by more than a third due to migrants.”

The AG's statement comes amid unfounded claims that have been circulating on social media about Haitian migrants eating people's pets.

Springfield officials have denied the rumors, telling DailyMail.com on Monday that 'there have been no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.'

Despite the claims being unconfirmed, Ohio senator and VP candidate JD Vance has repeated rumors that Haitian migrants have been eating people's pets.

After many pointed out that the rumors are unconfirmed, Vance said on Tuesday: 'In the last several weeks, my office has received many inquiries from actual residents of Springfield who've said their neighbors' pets or local wildlife were abducted by Haitian migrants. It's possible, of course, that all of these rumors will turn out to be false.'

Vance's post added: 'Do you know what's confirmed? That a child was murdered by a Haitian migrant who had no right to be here. That local health services have been overwhelmed. That communicable diseases--like TB and HIV--have been on the rise. That local schools have struggled to keep up with newcomers who don't know English. That rents have risen so fast that many Springfield families can't afford to put a roof over their head.'
And there it is. Mic drop.

Trump shooting task force obtains 'gruesome autopsy' for Thomas Crooks as details emerge of would-be assassin's bizarre behavior in days before
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The leader of the congressional committee investigating the assassination attempt on Donald Trump says the autopsy report of shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks is stomach-churning.

Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., the top Republican in charge of the probe told DailyMail.com that the report and its grisly details are 'gruesome.' However, he did not provide a timetable for when the autopsy would be released publicly. Kelly, who represents Butler, Pennsylvania, where the shooting occurred, has led several investigative trips to the fairgrounds where Trump spoke to further uncover details about the tragedy that left one dead and several, including the former president, injured.

Kelly also disclosed that the FBI told him Crooks exhibited strange behavior before the shooting. That included 'walking around the house talking to himself' and 'flapping his arms,' Punchbowl news first reported.
Sounds likea psychotic break. Was he on antidepressants?
'There was some indication that something was wrong,' the chairman said.

And as the slow drip of information related to the shooting continues, a new report indicates that a top Secret Service leader has been asked to step down. The Office of Protective Operations Assistant Director Michael Plati has been asked by his bosses to retire, Fox News first reported Tuesday morning. It indicated that Plati will end his service with the agency in the coming days.

Sources told the outlet that the move is related to the agency's performance during Trump's Butler shooting on July 13. Plati was apparently asked to step down by the top brass, including Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe, who previously testified before Congress about the assassination attempt.

The agency reportedly also has another briefing planned for Congress in the coming days.

But a Secret Service spokesperson told DailyMail.com that Plati is stepping down on his own accord.

'Assistant Director Plati was not asked to resign or retire by anyone. This was a personal decision that he has made and we thank him for his 27 years of dedicated service to the federal government,' they said in a statement.

After checking the previous maintenance logs and catching up on the e-mails, I decided to get my first cup of coffee. I happened to take the route through the control room. I noticed something was happening by the number of raised, excited voices and the number of people rushing about. I arrived at the coffee room to see on the TV the first tower smoking and thought to myself about the WW2 bomber hitting the Empire State building. As I stopped to watch the screen, I saw the second plane hit the second tower then I knew it wasn't an accident.

#8  Watching a lot of videos on the Battle of Midway and marvel at the incredible bravery of US planes flying into almost certain death to bomb those carriers.

Most seem to have done so to avenge buddies lost at Pearl Harbor.

Yet 9/11 is hardly a blip on the radar for most these days.

#10  It was the dogs. The dogs are what got me.

It was the dogs. The dogs are what got me.

A few years ago we visited the 9/11 Memorial Museum, and we saw a lot. Twisted steel girders. Baby-faced portraits of the deceased. Mutilated emergency vehicles.

But it was the dogs that wrecked me.

The dog exhibit is pretty small. Located in the far corner of the museum, with photographs of search and rescue dogs.

You see dogs nosing through rubble, wearing safety harnesses. You see them in their prime. They’re all deceased now. But they were spectacular.

There was Riley. Golden retriever. He was trained to find living people. But, he didn’t find any. Instead, he recovered the remains of firefighters. Riley kept searching for a live survivor, but found none. Riley’s morale tanked.

“I tried my best to tell Riley he was doing his job,” said his handler. “He had no way to know that when firefighters and police officers came over to hug him, and for a split second you can see them crack a smile—that Riley was succeeding at doing an altogether different job. He provided comfort. Or maybe he did know.”

There was Coby and Guiness. Black and yellow Labs. From California. Surfer dogs. They found dozens of human remains.

And Abigail. Golden Lab. Happy. Energetic. Committed. Big fan of bacon.

Sage. A border collie. Cheerful. Endless energy. Her first mission was searching the Pentagon wreckage after the attacks. She recovered the body of the terrorist who piloted American Airlines Flight 77.

Jenner. Black Lab. At age 9, he was one of the oldest dogs on the scene. Jenner’s handler, Ann Wichmann, remembers:

“It was 12 to 15 stories high of rubble and twisted steel. My first thought was, ‘I can't send Jenner into that…’ At one point, [Jenner] disappeared down a hole under the rubble and I was like, ‘Ugggggh!' Such a heart-stopping moment..."

Trakr. German Shepherd. Tireless worker. Worked until he couldn’t stand up anymore. Trakr found Genelle Guzman-McMillan, who was trapped for 27 hours among the debris. Genelle was as good as dead, until the cold nose poked through the mangled steel.

Apollo. German shepherd. An NYPD police dog. Coal-black muzzle. Liquid eyes. The first dog on the scene, only 15 minutes after the attacks. Apollo worked 18-hour days. Once, he was nearly killed in a fire during his search. But Apollo had been drenched in water and he was quick on his feet. No injuries.

Jake. Labrador. As a puppy, Jake was found on the side of the road in Dallas. Abandoned. Left for dead. Like trash. He had a dislocated hip and a broken leg. They made him a rescue dog.

Jake worked until his body threatened to collapse from exhaustion. After his shifts, local New York merchants saw his rescue-dog vest and treated him to free steak dinners in upscale Manhattan restaurants.

And, of course, there was Bretagne. Golden Retriever. Easygoing. Dutiful. Obsessed with food. Her owner and trainer, Denise Corliss, a firefighter from Harris County, Texas, brought Bretagne to Ground Zero while the rubble was still hot.

Bretagne went straight to work. She worked for 10 days solid. Ten agonizing days. Bretagne never quit. She napped onsite.

Denise recalls: “...There are images of Bretagne going to where she was directed to search, into the unknown, the chaotic environment. But even then, she knew who needed the comfort of a dog, and which firefighter needed to hold her close and stroke her fur.”

After 9/11, Bretagne also helped recovery efforts during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and Ivan. She retired at age 9.

Old age finally overtook her, she had a hard time using stairs, so Denise installed an above-ground pool to keep Bretagne’s joints limber.

In retirement, Bretagne became a reading dog at a local elementary school. First graders, too shy to read aloud, would read to a white-faced, elderly retriever who looked them in the eyes and smiled.

Bretagne visited students with special needs. She visited students with autism. She visited everyone.

She suffered kidney failure at age 16. She was put to sleep on June 7, 2016, and became the last of the 9/11 rescue dogs to end her earthly career.

Bretagne hobbled into the Cypress, Texas, animal hospital, one sunny Monday, only to discover the sidewalks and hallways were lined with firefighters, first responders, and rescue workers who saluted her.

Her remains were later escorted from the hospital, draped in an American flag.

We do not deserve dogs.

At the time, I was the North America International Practice Arch for the IT Security group of my F-300 company that I was with.

I was in the Atlanta office and on Conference call with our NY Sales Group and our Sales VP, When all hell broke loose, as the 1st plane hit and things started falling past his office window.

Knowing, we had over 140+ staff on the building. I clicked on CNN and pulled up a World CAMS website for NY.

For some stupid reason, I said. "It looks like someone has played with the rabbit." A Mil tech term for Dirt landing strip signal beacon.

The Sales VP was pissed I interpreted his meeting. A few days later, he would call and apologize to all of us. All of our staff survived.

But, it took us over a week to find the last staff member.
He went home and locked himself in his apt. and curled up was a basket case after that.

A few hours later I got an NRT call-up call and was on a plane Sept 14th to do a recovery task up there. It was a mess. Even my Chinese restaurant across the street from the WTC was gone.

The whole area was a total mess, occasionally things would fall on 1st responders and recovery personnel, as they dug for trapped people, bodies and special missing items.

I had a staff member on a ITSEC engagement that was halted and could get a ticket and had to drive home .... home was South Fla.

BTW: Besoeker did they ever explain why that small plane out of Arkansas that crashed up there in your neck of the woods was flying during ground halt?

Word has it, it was actually shot down and not a crash.

ABC News moderators debate for Harris - 3 against one.
[Washington Examiner] It took a comment on abortion for the moderators of the ABC News debate to drop any semblance of impartiality and join the discussion on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Former President Donald Trump, who referenced comments by former Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, noted that the Democratic Party’s line on abortion is extreme and allows for abortion up to and after birth.

His comment was factual, as a handful of states, including Minnesota, the home state of Harris’s running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), do not require babies that are born after botched abortions to be given life-saving care.

That didn’t stop ABC News moderator Linsey Davis from butting in and declaring, "There is no state in this country where it is legal to kill the baby after it’s born."
Davis' body language was a bit too obvious. She was there for Harris at every turn.
From there, it only got worse. Davis’s co-moderator, David Muir, got into an exchange with Trump over disputed anecdotal reports that Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, were eating local pets.

#1  So, like, why does Trump and/or the RNC keep agreeing to these debates? It's not rocket science what to expect.

This is Trump's election to lose, and so far, he's doing a decent job at it.

But I suppose it's Kabuki Theater any damn way.

#2  Amazing! No sign of Harris 'word salad.' She's totally cured. Questions were fully rehearsed in advance. She couldn't wait to respond and taunt.

Just a bit too obvious I'd say. A page right out of the Donna Braile - Hillary Clinton playbook.

#5  Davis showed her chip on the opening...question.

I thought by the end Muir was getting a crush.

All Harris had to do was not stutter or make stupid grimaces, and didn't really do that. I hate that wide eye blink thing like they some sort of anime fetish. He may have been all over the place, but by the end Trump was dominating the stage.

But I wasn't the target audience, so salt as you will.

Not sure what the Harris strategy was except to not chew gum and fall over. Stage gravitas, maybe? All I saw was wild gesturing and catty awkshuallys, along with her Thanos neck and whatever they did to her hair to make it seem like a wig. Say what you will about diminished Brandon, he at least put out a stage presence.

#6  The format of these "debates" is just ridiculous. Candidates are not debating each other but answering (or rather not answering) the questions of "moderators". Absurd.

Also you can't have a meaningful debate with 20 topics that have to be dealt with in 2 minutes.

You want to fix immigration? Work out a decent plan and explain it.

You want to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours. Tell us in detail how this could be possible.

You want to save the economy with tariffs? Explain how this could work.

The "debate" was absurd from the very first minute when Harris simply didn't answer the question on whether America was doing better than 4 years ago. It veered into absurdity when immigrants started eating cats and dogs.

The strongest line of Trump came in the end. Harris has a plan for every problem, but why didn't she do anything in the last 3 years?

If I had a suggestion to make: Do more, but REAL debates with one topic only, and let the candidates debate each other with enough time to explain their plans and actions.

1) immigration
2) economy
3) global conflicts
4) abortion (maybe)

#8  It’s not about winning the debate, but about winning the voters. From PJ Media:

It Looks Like Trump May Have Helped Himself in the Debate

Perhaps because of what I do for a living, I’m extra critical of Donald Trump’s performance. I’ve been pointing out for days now what Trump needed to do in the debate, and seeing him miss opportunity after opportunity was beyond frustrating. But according to a report from Reuters, undecided voters largely shifted to him after the debate.

“Kamala Harris was widely seen as dominating Tuesday’s presidential debate against Republican former president Donald Trump, but a group of undecided voters remained unconvinced that the Democratic vice president was the better candidate,” the outlet reported.

Reuters interviewed ten undecided voters before and after a debate. Six of them shifted toward supporting Trump, three leaned toward Harris, and one remained uncertain. That’s a rather solid outcome for Trump.

“Although the sample size was small, the responses suggested Harris might need to provide more detailed policy proposals to win over voters who have yet to make up their minds,” wrote Reuters.

As always, the key is to get beyond the margin of cheating.

#9  Also, for many Democratic voters, this is the only time they will see The Donald unfiltered by the Progressive mainstream media. This is an opportunity to show that he isn’t nearly as horrible as they were told, and that Ms Kamala is distressingly vapid — even if he didn’t win the debate on points.

Taylor Swift Endorses Kamala Harris For President After Debate: ‘i've Made My Choice'
[FOX News]Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala Harris for president just minutes after the Democratic nominee's presidential debate against her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.

Writing on Instagram, the pop star said she will be voting for Harris because, "she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them."

"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered!" Swift wrote to her 283 million followers. "I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story."

Swift signed the post: "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady," a nod to Trump's running mate J.D. Vance, who said during a 2021 interview: "We are effectively run in this country, via the Democrats, via our corporate oligarchs, by a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made, and so they wanna make the rest of the country miserable, too."

Within minutes, the post had garnered more than 2 million likes.

Swift's endorsement came after some of her fans gave Brittany Mahomes flak for supporting Trump.

Mahomes, a 29-year-old pregnant mother, first indicated her support for Trump on Aug. 13 when she liked Trump's Instagram post that outlined the "2024 GOP platform."

The like ignited a firestorm of backlash against the wife of the superstar quarterback. In fact, the critics included fans of Swift. Multiple fan pages dedicated to Swift posted the screenshots of the like on social media, spreading the reach of the backlash.

An invitation for one of those accounting systems would be better than a paycheck.

I never understood the Taylor Swift phenomenon. She's a mediocre singer at best.

She was initially billed as singer/songwriter/musician with a tough background, so when she rejected that for sexpop music it made all the hollywood people happy because selling shallow to rich girls is well rehearsed; and now its a way for rich wine moms to act forever 20 and their strange dads to go hang out around teenage girls without being suspicious.

Her recent exposure has to do with being part of the Don't Have Children message being pushed, especially her predominately White audience. "Look at all the attention and fun there is dating the star football player - impossible to do if you have a kid."

More than 400 ships and submarines will be involved in the Ocean-2024 naval exercises
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] More than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels will take part in the Russian Navy exercise "Ocean-2024", the Russian Defense Ministry reported on September 10 on its Telegram channel.

“The maneuvers, which will take place in the waters of the Pacific and Arctic Oceans, the Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic Seas, will involve more than 400 warships, submarines and auxiliary fleet support vessels,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Defense specified that more than 120 aircraft and helicopters of the naval aviation of the Navy and the Aerospace Forces, about seven thousand units of weapons, military and special equipment, as well as more than 90 thousand personnel will be involved.

Also on September 10, the Russian military department reported that the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet had begun the Okean-2024 exercises, during which they would study possible combat zones, conditions for the use of various forces, weapons and technical means, and also practice special operations to block and destroy terrorists.

The group includes the large anti-submarine ship Vice-Admiral Kulakov, the large landing ship Alexander Otrakovsky, the rescue tugboat Altai and the tanker Sergei Osipov.

US has imposed sanctions against Russian shipping companies and their vessels

The United States has imposed sanctions against two Russian shipping companies and their ships, according to a statement from the US Treasury Department published on its website on September 10.

In particular, the sanctions list included the companies OOO More Reka Servis from the city of Azov and OOO Optovaya Firma VAFA from Astrakhan. Restrictions were also imposed on three dry cargo ships of More Reka Servis, two dry cargo ships of VAFA and four dry cargo ships of MG-Flot, against which the US had previously imposed sanctions.

In August, the US Treasury Department expanded anti-Russian sanctions by adding 400 individuals and legal entities in Russia and abroad to the lists. In addition, sanctions were imposed on some citizens of Belarus, Italy, Turkey, Liechtenstein and China, as well as on 46 Chinese companies.

On September 10, the UK imposed sanctions on the Russian Aerospace Forces, the 924th State Unmanned Aviation Center, and the Military Transport Aviation Command. London also imposed sanctions on seven Iranian legal entities and individuals for allegedly providing assistance to Russia.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly noted that anti-Russian sanctions have led to the opposite result. The West expected the country's economy to collapse, but it is growing and developing.

Two Delta Airlines planes collide on runway at Atlanta airport
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Two Delta Airlines planes have collided on a runway at the country's busiest airport.

The incident took place at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia just after 10am on Tuesday.

The crash occurred after Tokyo-bound flight DL295 clipped the back of flight DL5526 to Louisiana as it was taxiing for takeoff.
Pilot error or something missed in the control tower?
The regional jet, an Endeavor Air CRJ-900, was left with a severed tail while the Airbus 350 sustained damage to its wing.

Dramatic photos from witnesses appear to show the back end of the Louisiana-bound flight bent at a 90 degree angle.
"Go ahead and take off. The wind will straighten it out"
So far, no injuries have been reported among the combined 277 passengers on board the jets.

Delta said that the Airbus rammed into the Lafayette-bound plane as it was sat on an adjacent runway, 'resulting in damage to the tail of the regional jet and the wing of the A350'.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Police say officers seized 74 handguns being smuggled into Israel from Jordan
[IsraelTimes] Police say they foiled an attempt to smuggle some 74 handguns into Israel from Jordan yesterday via the Rabin Crossing.

The incident occurred on the same day as a deadly attack at the Allenby Bridge Crossing between the West Bank and Jordan.

Customs inspectors at the Rabin terminal, near Eilat, found 74 Glock pistols and 61 magazines inside a Mitsubishi vehicle that was trying to cross into Israel from Jordan, police say.

The driver of the car and a passenger, residents of the Bedouin town of Bir Hadaj and another Bedouin community near Yeruham, were detained.

Weapons smuggling is a constant challenge for Israel, along its long, porous eastern border with Jordan.

Israeli officials say Iran

Danish man faces preliminary terror charges over blaze at Jewish woman’s home
[IsraelTimes] Suspect, 21, could face life sentence — usually 16 years in prison — for allegedly sparking fire on balcony at victim’s Copenhagen home in May

A 21-year-old man in Denmark was arrested on Tuesday for arson after allegedly setting a fire at a Jewish woman’s home in Copenhagen and faced preliminary court charges under the country’s terrorism laws that can lead to a life sentence.

Preliminary charges are one step short of formal charges and allow authorities to detain suspects during an investigation. A life sentence in Denmark usually means 16 years in prison.

The man and several other suspects who were not identified allegedly set fire to balcony furniture at the woman’s house on May 29. The blaze spread but was put out by firefighters, Danish media said, and no one was injured.

Under a court order, neither the suspect nor the victim can be named.

The incident came amid a significant uptick in antisemitic incidents in Denmark since October 7, when Hamas

-led bully boyz rampaged southern Israel, killing 1,200 and taking 251 hostages, mostly civilians, sparking the ongoing war in Gazoo

It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. Danish media at the court hearing said the man pleaded not guilty

through his defense attorney. No further details were available because the rest of the hearing was held behind closed doors.

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service said in a statement that the suspect was related to Loyal to Familia,

a predominantly immigrant gang in Denmark that was banned in 2021.

"It is serious if a person in Denmark becomes a target of terror because of the person’s Jewish background. It is also worrying that we again see links to LTF in terrorist cases," said Finn Borch Andersen, the head of the security agency.

"It is too early to assess whether it is an isolated case or a broader development in the terrorist threat," he added.

The Jewish Community in Denmark, in a separate statement, described the attack as "terrifying... even if no one was injured."

The security agency has warned of an "intensified terrorist threat against Jewish and Israeli targets in Denmark, especially in light of the conflict in Israel and Gaza," Borch Andersen said.

The number of antisemitic incidents registered in Denmark since October 7 has reached levels not seen since 1943, Henri Goldstein, head of the Danish Jewish community, told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named in February.

"We have seen a violent mostly peaceful escalation, not least fueled by the uncontrolled spread of hatred on social media," Goldstein said, adding that in 2023, "all 121 incidents were Jew-hatred — and not ’just criticism of Israel.’"

Of the 121 incidents, 20 were death threats, "which we have not seen since the 1980s," Goldstein said, referring to threats made then against two leading figures in the Jewish community — an editor-in-chief and the chief rabbi. In lieu of the rising antisemitism, Jews in Denmark were advised not to wear Jewish symbols openly, Goldstein said.

The figures, compiled by the community’s security organization, were on par with recent reports in other European countries. Many European countries have registered a rise in reported antisemitic acts.

Top European and US envoys warned last week that fear is spreading through Jewish communities worldwide due to surging antisemitism.

"We have seen a tsunami of antisemitism really rolling across Europa

and the globe," said Katharina von Schnurbein, the European Commission’s coordinator on combating antisemitism and fostering Jewish life.

"We are seeing a situation that we had hoped we would never see again," she told AFP in Geneva after a closed-door workshop at the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
last week on how to address the threat.

She pointed to the Molotov cocktailing of synagogues, Stars of David spray-painted onto houses where Jews live and Jewish students attacked on university campuses.

"I think we are now in a situation that really reminds us of the darkest days of Europe."

The European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s Fundamental Rights Agency said in July that according to a poll, which surveyed nearly 8,000 self-identified Jews from 13 European countries — including Denmark — 96 percent of respondents said they had encountered antisemitism in their daily lives even before the ongoing war in Gaza.

Europe’s Jewish community is facing a "rising tide of antisemitism," with the conflict in the Middle East "eroding" progress made in the fight against it, said agency director Sirpa Rautio. She added that the surge in antisemitism was jeopardizing the success of the EU’s first-ever strategy for combating the problem, adopted in 2021.

Some 37 percent of respondents said they were harassed over the past year. A total of 4% of respondents said they had experienced antisemitic physical attacks in the 12 months before the survey — double the number recorded in 2018, the last time the survey was taken.

IDF says it killed Hezbollah commander behind many attacks on Israel, struck Hezbo weapons factory
More on this story from Grom in comments yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Military confirms drone strike on Muhammad Qassem al-Shaer deep inside Lebanon; Iran-backed Lebanese terror group also announces his death, but gives no details of his activities

The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday said it killed a commander in Lebanese terror group Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force with a dronezap deep in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
According to the IDF, Muhammad Qassem al-Shaer was involved in many attacks on Israel. The military said his killing "is another blow to the ability of the Hezbollah terror organization to advance and carry out terror attacks from southern Lebanon against the Israeli home front on the northern border."

The IDF announcement confirmed earlier reports alleging a deadly Israeli dronezap in the Beqaa Valley.

Hezbollah also said that al-Shaer had been killed, but did not give any details of his role within the Iran-backed group.

Al-Shaer was targeted on a road near Lake Qaraoun in the Beqaa Valley, some 40 kilometers (24 miles) from the Israeli border.

The IDF published footage of the strike.

Al-Shaer’s death brings the terror group’s corpse count in IDF strikes since October to at least 434, among them several commanders in the Radwan force.

The Radwan force is believed by Israeli officials to be tasked with potentially infiltrating the country.

Earlier Tuesday, Lebanese media reported a separate alleged Israeli dronezap on an apartment in the town of Zebdine on the outskirts of the city of Nabatieh. No further details were immediately available and the IDF has not commented on that incident.

IDF hits Hezbollah launchers after rocket fire

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah rocket launchers used to fire some 45 rockets at northern Israel on Tuesday were targeted in IDF drone strikes, while Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told troops the military was in the process of shifting its attention from Gaza to Lebanon.

Hezbollah rocket launchers used to fire some 45 rockets at northern Israel earlier today were targeted in drone strikes, the IDF says.

The launchers were hit in southern Lebanon's at-Tiri and Mansouri, according to the military.

IDF regrets ‘indirect and unintended’ fire that likely killed US woman in West Bank, Biden pronounces it an accident
[IsraelTimes] Initial report says troops aimed at ‘main instigator,’ not at Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi; activist’s family demands independent probe; Blinken slams ‘unprovoked and unjustified’ killing

An American peace activist who was rubbed out in the West Bank last week had "with high probability" been hit by IDF troops’ mistaken gunfire, the army said Tuesday, expressing regret for the killing.

The military says it has completed an initial probe into the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, who also held Ottoman Turkish citizenship. The probe, carried out by commanders, has found that Eygi was likely killed by "indirect and unintended IDF fire, which was aimed at a main instigator" during a riot.

"The incident occurred during a violent mostly peaceful gathering of dozens of Paleostinian suspects, who burned tires and threw stones at forces at Beita Junction," the IDF said, adding that it "expresses its deepest regret over the death."
The thing about putting yourself forward as a human shield during a crossfire is that you are likely to find yourself crossed by fire, with painfully predictable results.
The Military Police has also launched an investigation into the killing and will submit the findings to the Military Advocate General for review. The IDF said Israeli officials have submitted a request to carry out an autopsy.

Eygi, a Ottoman Turkish-born American citizen, was an activist with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), "a Paleostinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli occupation" with nonviolent mostly peaceful tactics. The ISM holds regular demonstrations at Beita Junction, near Nablus in the northern West Bank.

The killing came a day before the IDF wrapped up a 10-day counterterrorism operation in the northern West Bank, which the army said killed more than 30 button men. The IDF renewed operations in Tullkarem on Tuesday.

Biden says US-Turkish activist ‘got hit by accident,’ after IDF expresses regret over killing

[IsraelTimes] US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier...
says the killing of a US-Ottoman Turkish activist during a protest in the West Bank last week appears to have been an accident, after the IDF said she had "with high probability" been hit by soldiers’ mistaken gunfire and expressed its regret for her death.

"Apparently it was an accident — it ricocheted off the ground, and she got hit by accident," Biden tells news hounds, hours after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken
...71st United States secretary of state and a leading light of the corrupt and inept Biden administration. He previously served as deputy national security advisor from 2013 to 2015 and deputy secretary of state from 2015 to 2017 under the corrupt and inept Obama administration. He advocated for the 2003 invasion of Iraq while serving as the Democratic staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2002 to 2008. He was a foreign policy advisor for the Biden 2008 presidential campaign. During his tenure in the Obama administration, Blinken helped craft B.O.'s policy on Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the nuclear program of Iran. We all saw how well each of those worked. After leaving government service, Blinken moved into the private sector, co-founding WestExec Advisors, a lobbying firm...
said the killing was "unprovoked and unjustified."
Glory be. I can only imagine how bad the polling is if the president’s handlers put those words in his mouth.

The prosecutor''s office will deal with illegal rehabilitation of victims of Stalin''s repressions
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from an gazata.ru article

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] The Prosecutor General''s Office will begin reviewing cases of rehabilitation of victims of political repression.

The Prosecutor General''s Office of the Russian Federation plans to review previously adopted decisions on the rehabilitation of victims of political repression. The draft departmental order was published on the portal of draft regulatory legal acts.

The document states that on June 20, 2024, amendments were made to the Concept of State Policy of the Russian Federation on Perpetuating the Memory of Victims of Political Repression concerning the inadmissibility of rehabilitation and acquittal of persons who committed grave and especially grave crimes, war crimes, crimes against peace and humanity. The Prosecutor General''s Office proposes "to organize work on identifying and canceling such decisions on an ongoing basis."

If the cancellation of rehabilitation decisions concerns foreign citizens, information about this will be transmitted to the relevant states through the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The order of the Prosecutor General''s Office "On the organization of the activities of the prosecutor''s office for the implementation and supervision of the implementation of the RF Law "On the rehabilitation of victims of political repression" will be supplemented by a provision that the materials on the decisions made, sent to the authorities, are intended not only to restore the rights of persons who suffered from political repression, but also to restore historical justice. At the same time, it is emphasized that the justification of "accomplices of the Nazis and traitors to the Motherland" should not be allowed.

It is high time. Just as during the repressions, along with enemies of the people, random people were caught in the crossfire, just as during the rehabilitation of the unjustifiably repressed, many different scum were rehabilitated under Khrushchev and Gorbachev, including various collaborators.

P.S., I would be interested in watching the review of the cases of the participants in the Tukhachevsky conspiracy, who were indiscriminately rehabilitated under Khrushchev.

War at full strategic depth
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from an article posted at report.press.

[ColonelCassad] Hybrid war is a common term used to describe the state of "peace as war". However, this hybridization - that is, the mixing of methods of warfare - contains only one feature of the "world of war". Hybridity does not describe the dramatic and total nature of the penetration of the "logic of war" into all spheres and to the full depth of world politics. To describe this largely new nature of war, the authors introduce and substantiate the term deep war. The article examines the essence, goals, strategy, tools of deep war and the measures that must be taken at the political and power levels in the face of growing threats and challenges.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WORLD DOMINATION
The war for the reorganization of the world, for the world's resources - human, intellectual, material, fossil - is already underway. It is waged by hybrid methods in the "gray zone", the owners of which are the global elite - a network structure of control over the world, which is commonly called the Deep State. Since the price of resources will objectively grow, one day it will be equal to the costs and price of war. And then, with a high degree of probability, the owners of the Deep State will unleash the Third World War openly. But to do this, they need to destroy the world system of national states, which today is being successfully prevented by Russia, China, Iran, India and other countries trying to pursue sovereign policies. That is why the Deep State's war for hegemony over the world has a hidden - deep character.

However, conceptually, this hegemony has already been formalized. In August 2024, a report was released by the "Club of Rome" and the "Council on the Future of Humanity" (hereinafter referred to as the Club of Rome, the Council on the Future of Humanity) - the leading centers designing the policy of the globalists - the published document is essentially a program strategy of the deep state. One of the authors of the report, Australian science fiction writer Julian Cribb, author of books on the existential problems of humanity, including How to Fix a Broken Planet (2023, Cambridge), wrote: “World War III has already begun, although few have noticed... It is an almost silent war that will take the lives of millions, perhaps billions, of people and destroy the planet forever... World War III is a universal conflict between proven truth and convenient lies. Between reality and invented fantasy. It is a battle for the human soul... "

Analyzing the proposals of the Club of Rome, prepared by Cribb, one cannot help but note their manipulative and very dangerous nature. The report talks about global problems and a general crisis of power, which threatens the end of human civilization already in the middle of the 21st century. The thesis is promoted that "the power of states is dissipating", since states are allegedly unable to solve the global problems of humanity, and therefore must give way to what will in fact be a "world government". To do this, it is necessary to take urgent measures to create governing bodies at the global level and the need for countries to give up part of their sovereignty. For these purposes, it is proposed to create a UN Parliamentary Assembly and a "Council on the Earth System", which will adopt legislation that is binding on all countries. That is, we are talking about the degradation and complete devaluation of the concept of national sovereignty.

One of the fundamental changes proposed by the authors of this document is the reform of the UN Security Council with the abolition of the veto right of permanent members. And in order to finally eliminate the threat of their hegemony from sovereign states, globalists propose to ban nuclear weapons. Also alarming are the dangerous for humanity ideas of "voluntary" population reduction and the creation of a "Global Truth Commission" (it was put forward by Cribb), as well as proposals for a "radical green" change in the economic system, supplemented by the introduction of a single and mandatory world currency for all.

If we remove the "verbal-cognitive camouflage", it becomes obvious that the authors of the Club of Rome report with their customers from the Deep State see the solution to humanity's problems in total control over it - that is, over each of us. These ideas, in general, are not new to world politics, but their aggressive, offensive and radical nature is striking, reminiscent of the escalation of the very war going on at a deep level.

At the same time, six months earlier, at the Davos Forum, held in the winter of 2024, the intention to take control of the future of humanity was directly declared.

We need a paradigm shift... We must act as trustees of a better future for humanity. As trustees of the future, we are responsible for the development of the world...

~ Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the Davos Forum

The Club of Rome report makes it clear that the struggle for energy and resources is the dominant feature of world politics in the near and medium term. According to their calculations, there are not enough resources for the "Golden Billion", and therefore the resource collapse is becoming increasingly obvious. The West formulated a solution to this problem more than twenty years ago by Zbigniew Brzezinski, the leading American politician of the second half of the 20th century, who stated: "The new world order will be built against Russia, on the ruins of Russia and at the expense of Russia."

According to the programmatic guidelines of the collective West and NATO - this is stated in the "US National Security Strategy" - Russia is considered a fundamental enemy and the main threat. The strategic defeat of Russia, which is understood as its "cancellation", civilizational breakdown, deprivation of historical independence, is the main priority of the policy of the collective West.

DEEP WAR
Hybrid war - a state of "peace as war", in this hybridization - mixing - the essence of the current era is seen. However, mixing is only one facet of the picture of the "world of war", and hybridity does not describe the entire dramatic intensity of modernity, the total penetration of the "logic of war" into all spheres and to the full depth of world politics. It is the deep profile of war that complements the hybrid nature of the modern confrontation, within the framework of which the humanitarian sphere is technologized, and the keys to the codes - civilizational and mental - become military goals. At the core of this deep hybrid warfare technology are networks of control and power influence that entangle the world: from cyber to information, from energy and logistics to intelligence and PMC networks, from ethno-financial transnational network groups and crypto-shadow corporations to the Deep Web. Often, these all-pervasive networks are outside legitimate state and public control, in the so-called "gray zone" where there is no war/no peace.

The story of the global Windows crash in July 2024 reflected an important feature of the modern network world system - an error made at one point in the system can bring down the entire world system. So far, this is more like "reconnaissance in force", which will be followed by a sequel. Regular breaks in internet cables, unexpected failures of satellites, accidents at strategically important infrastructure facilities, interruptions in the power supply of critically important territories, the growth of "random" but synchronous epidemics, "targeted" influxes of waves of migrants, political rebellions and coups d'état induced seemingly out of nowhere, etc. - all this is part of a war that is tangible for many, but hidden and understandable only to real actors. This, taken together, is the hybrid profile of a deep war - Deep War - the battles and battles of which are often hushed up by the media.

Thus, the deep war (Deep War) is total in its scale and penetration into all spheres of human activity, it is a form of poly-domain confrontation in the military and civilian spheres, in the geopolitical space, which is described by the concept of the gray zone. This is a war for control over the world, which is being prepared and waged by globalists from the Deep State according to the concepts of the same Club of Rome and similar institutions. This war is not waged for territories or even for resource assets as such, but for the establishment of a new world order. In this war, there are no "turning points and battles", instead, multi-scale operations and processes are implemented that "accumulate damage" in the existing system, leading to tectonic changes at the deepest levels of the functioning of the world system. The fundamental thing is that in this case, it is precisely the issues of war that are being resolved - depriving the enemy of subjectivity, will and ability to sovereign development, and ultimately destroying him.

PERSONNEL SYNERGY OF VICTORY
In any war, people win - only strong-willed people are capable of withstanding grandiose challenges and implementing the transformations that Russia needs.

The essence of the approach is that since war becomes the deep essence of politics, and the boundaries of war and peace are dissolved in the gray zone, the division into civilian and military spheres becomes conditional, so the civilian and professional spheres inevitably merge and intertwine with the military. Hence, the strategic priority of the state is the creation of a system that ensures personnel synergy of the military and civilian spheres.

Personnel and technological mobilization, the unification of military and civilian specialists and developments are vitally important today. In this matter, the experience of Britain is interesting - a country that has always and not without success laid claim to leading world roles, without having significant resources and population, but competently promoting its interests through the elite - very devoted to the country, strong in spirit and purposeful.

A strategic personnel priority of the UK national security policy is to ensure the continuous involvement of highly qualified civilian specialists from various fields directly and indirectly related to national security issues. One of the most interesting examples of such a structure is the Specialist Group of Deep Warfare of the UK Military Intelligence (SGMI). SGMI specifically and systematically recruits personnel from specialists, primarily because of their unique special skills, including academic, scientific and professional skills, acquired in the civilian field. And what is important to note: these specialists often carry out their tasks within the SGMI on a pro bono basis - that is, serving their country is a priority for them.

This gives a result: in cognitive operations and mental warfare, the British are among the best today. And these are not episodes or exceptions, this is a personnel system tailored to specific war tasks. In his interview from August 2023, US Army General Mark Milley (at that time Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) emphasized that the wars of the 21st century will be for cognitive-mental dominance, for which the mental-cognitive area is defined and doctrinally formalized as the sixth operational environment/"sixth domain" (along with land, air, sea, space, info-cyber sphere), where - as stated in NATO developments - "influence and control of the enemy's mind make it possible to avoid a frontal confrontation." And it is no coincidence that British General Hockenhull (Head of Strategic Command, British military intelligence) stated in January of the same 2023: “

… the conflict in Ukraine can in some ways be seen as the first digital war, and much of this digital capability comes from open sources and commercially available services, rather than traditional military capabilities…

~ Ben Hockenhull, Head of Strategic Command, UK

All this, in essence, speaks about deep warfare, its personnel and technologies. Another example of personnel strategy - in late summer 2024, news appeared that the Pentagon was creating new Theater Integrated Information Detachments (TIADS). This is a new type of unit, which is planned to be created in the 2026 fiscal year (12 cyber groups of 65 highly qualified military personnel each), which are designed to monitor the efforts of China and Russia to conduct information warfare at the field level. This approach reflects the desire of the US Army command to unite cyberneticists, electronic warfare specialists, communications specialists, data transmission systems engineers, information operations, intel (integrated electronic technologies) and specialists in information and psychological operations - PSYOPs. This was stated by Lieutenant General Maria Barrett, Commander-in-Chief of the Army Cyber Command.

It is necessary to understand that such operational and tactical decisions are what can provide a strategic advantage in the competencies and on the battlefield of any state. Therefore, the creation of similar structures and institutions, but adapted to the management traditions of Russia, on the basis of interested specialized, primarily security agencies, should be a strategic personnel priority of the state, since it can not only strengthen the defense potential, but also form a highly professional core of a nationally oriented elite - this is the main recruiting elite resource.

The West's deep hybrid war against Russia is being waged both from the outside and from the inside across the entire front - from the economy, politics, spiritual and mental spheres and cyberspace to local military clashes and proxy conflicts around the world. In such a deep war, defeats and victories are not recorded by the "Act of Surrender", they are sometimes unclear, poly-domain and hybrid, and the qualitative shifts achieved as a result of this war are often evolutionary, but irreversible and destructive.

ISIS used the hostage taking in the Volgograd colony in its propaganda
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Propagandists of the Islamic State have published a video about the hostage taking in a prison colony in Surovikino on the information resources of the terrorist organization.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on August 23, in colony No. 19 in Surovikino, four prisoners (natives of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), declaring themselves supporters of the "Islamic State", took 12 people hostage. Three employees of the colony were killed, two more later died in the hospital. As a result of the assault, the participants in the seizure were killed. There is a shortage of employees in Russian colonies, and those who are there work long hours for modest salaries, which contributes to the development of corruption, noted security officials interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot".

The Islamic State (IS) has published a video on its information resources dedicated to the hostage-taking in Colony No. 19 in Surovikino. The video is a compilation of footage that appeared on the Internet on the day of the hostage-taking. IS propagandists edited the video about the activities of the terrorist organization, adding Arabic subtitles, as well as audio with statements by one of the former IS speakers. However, the video does not provide any new information about the hostage-taking, the Directorate 4 Telegram channel reported today.

Recall that earlier human rights activist Igor Nagavkin noted that in IK No. 19 in Surovikino, where prisoners took the colony employees hostage, living conditions are extremely poor, and provocations against Muslims are practiced. He believes that this could lead to a riot.

The reason for the seizure in the colony was the dehumanization of the FSIN system, said human rights activist Anna Karetnikova and journalist Vyacheslav Lemkus. The FSIN Directorate for the Volgograd Region  called  the data on poor living conditions and oppression of Muslims fake, without providing evidence for their words.

The hostage-taking in Surovikino  was the second  in the Southern Federal District in three months. It was preceded by a similar incident that occurred in mid-June in the Rostov pretrial detention center. In both cases, the attackers declared themselves supporters of the "Islamic State"*. The details were collected by the "Caucasian Knot" in the report " Hostage Taking in the Volgograd Colony and Rostov Pretrial Detention Center in the Summer of 2024 ".

IDF renews major crackdown in northern West Bank, now operating in Tulkarem area
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it has resumed its major operation in the northern West Bank, and a large number of troops are currently carrying out a raid in the Tulkarem area.

The operation, internally dubbed Summer Camps, was launched on August 28 with raids in Tulkarem, Jenin and Tubas.

The IDF withdrew from Jenin on Friday, and there have been no major raids since.

Natives of Chechnya convicted in Belgium for plotting terrorist attack
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Four supporters of the Islamic State have been convicted in Bruges. The group's leader, Chechen native Abubakar S., has been sentenced to 15 years, and his wife has been sentenced to eight years. Two other members of the group have been given suspended sentences, including Abubakar S.'s brother.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, in May 2023, the Belgian prosecutor's office announced the arrest of seven supporters of the "Islamic State", suspected of preparing a terrorist attack. Among the suspects are people from Chechnya. In July, it became known that three people from Chechnya were arrested.

A court in Bruges has sentenced members of a group who were found guilty of preparing a terrorist attack; among those convicted are natives of Chechnya, Kommersant wrote on September 9.

Belgium has one of the largest Chechen diasporas in Europe, according to an article published on the "Caucasian Knot" entitled "How to travel to Europe and obtain refugee status."
The alleged leader of the group, Abubakar S., was sentenced to 15 years in prison, and his wife, who also took part in the group's activities, was sentenced to eight years. Two other defendants, including Abubakar S.'s brother, were given suspended sentences and fined. One defendant was acquitted.

The group rented a garage to store weapons, studied police response times, and visited specific locations for various attacks. These locations included the Jewish quarter, a gay bar, a police station, and a NATO building.

Abubakar S. is recognized as a key figure in the group, he admitted guilt. In court, he stated that he wanted to "sow fear and damage the economy" of the country. At the court hearing, according to journalists, he behaved defiantly and insulted the judge. According to Abubakar S.'s lawyer, Piteryan Dens, the convicted man was especially dissatisfied with the sentence handed down to his brother, who, as he stated, had nothing to do with the case.

Belgium has one of the largest Chechen diasporas in Europe, according to an article published on the "Caucasian Knot" entitled " How to travel to Europe and obtain refugee status."

"Caucasian Knot" wrote that Belgian law enforcement agencies detained 16 Chechens suspected of extremist activity in June 2015. After a series of terrorist attacks in Brussels on March 22, 2016, people from the North Caucasus, in particular Chechens, faced sweeping accusations of involvement in terrorism,   Sasha Koulaeva, head of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia department of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), told "Caucasian Knot".

In December 2016, a court in Bruges sentenced 12 Chechens to between 15 months and 10 years in prison for recruiting fighters to fight in Syria. Another defendant in the case was acquitted.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: September 10, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:43 Biden does not rule out lifting the ban on strikes against Russia with American long-range weapons, Blinken said in an interview with Sky News: "We never rule it out. But when we make a decision, we want to make sure that it is done in a way that can help achieve what the Ukrainians are trying to achieve."

21:36 Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced fighting on the border with Ukraine in the area of Zhuravlevka. At the same time, he denied information about the capture of this settlement by Ukrainian troops.

20:56 The US Treasury Department announced the introduction of new sanctions against Iran due to the supply of missiles to Russia. In particular, the restrictions affected the airline Iran Air, as well as four ships that transport Iranian drones and missiles to Russia. Officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Defense were also subject to sanctions. In total, the list includes ten individuals and six legal entities.

20:48 Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga held a telephone conversation with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong and asked her to transfer decommissioned equipment, including Bushmaster armored vehicles, to Ukraine.

20:17 Zelensky said in an evening video address that Ukraine is "bringing closer the steps of partners that can help now... The partners' determination must become more long-range." Work on logistics is also continuing - the timely delivery of the announced support packages. In addition, the president said that he heard reports from Syrsky today, as well as the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Foreign Intelligence Service: "We see what steps Moscow is planning, and we will act accordingly - exactly as tough as necessary."

Zelensky also commented on the changes in the Foreign Ministry: "Ukraine must be fully understood in all partner countries, particularly in Europe. Ukraine needs much more meaningful relations and cooperation than it has now with the countries of Latin America, with the countries of Africa and Asia. We must realize the full potential of strategic relations with the United States. And with all the countries that are key to their regions, but do not yet have strategic relations with Ukraine, we need a truly strategic level of cooperation... Among the key priorities of the year is the Second Peace Summit, which means the most active work with all our partners in groups on the points of the Peace Formula and on a common view of ending the war."

18:54 During his visit to Kyiv, Blinken plans to get acquainted with the situation on the battlefield, discuss Ukraine's needs and advance Zelensky's peace proposals, White House adviser John Kirby said. At the same time, he stressed that Washington is not pressuring Ukraine or pushing it to negotiate an end to the war: "Of course, ending the war through negotiations is the most likely outcome in this case. But when this happens, and under what conditions and circumstances - this will be decided by President Zelensky."

18:35 China is now supplying Russia not only with dual-use goods, but also with specific materials needed by the Russian Armed Forces, said US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell. In exchange, Beijing, according to his information, is receiving secret Russian technologies for submarines, missiles and aviation, which Moscow had previously been unwilling to share.

"These are part of a very significant effort on the part of China to support, build and diversify various elements of the Russian military machine. We see efforts at the highest levels of both governments to try to hide and protect certain elements of this troubling cooperation... Much of this activity is not publicly visible," Campbell said.

18:19 Zelensky said during the introduction of the new Minister Andriy Sybiha to the MFA staff that Ukraine needs a second Peace Summit this year: "This means maximum involvement of the world in the implementation of the Peace Formula. And maximum strengthening of our positions in order to make a fair process of restoring peace real... The team of the MFA of Ukraine, the entire government team, the Office team, our parliamentary diplomats, everyone involved in this work at the public level - everyone must understand that peace for Ukraine and a fair end to this war are not just a historical mission, but daily and very painstaking work."

The President also announced that Panama had joined the communiqué of the first Peace Summit, becoming the 94th signatory of the document.

17:56 The Hill journalist Juliegrace Brufke reported, citing the head of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul, that Blinken and his British counterpart Lemmy will announce permission to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russia during their visit to Kiev.

17:47 The foreign ministers of Great Britain, Germany and France in a joint statement condemned Iran's supply of ballistic missiles to Russia and added that in response they would cancel air traffic with Iran and impose sanctions on Iranian ballistic missile manufacturers and their suppliers to Russia. The statement said that the supply of missiles to Moscow "is an escalation by both Iran and Russia and poses a direct threat to European security."

17:35 Financing one military costs the budget 1.2 million hryvnia, Shmyhal said. According to him, this year's budget lacks an additional 500 billion hryvnia for the army. "When we planned the 2024 budget together with the IMF, one of the partners' forecasts was that the war would continue until the summer of 2024," the prime minister explained, adding that now the Ukrainian Armed Forces need more funding.

17:21 The UK government announced sanctions against the Russian Aerospace Forces, as well as the 924th State Unmanned Aviation Center and the Military Transport Aviation Command. It is known that the 924th State Unmanned Aviation Center is responsible for delivering UAVs to the Russian army. In addition, London added five new vessel specifications to the list as part of restrictions against Russia and seven new sanctioned entities as part of the sanctions regime against Iran.

16:35 In Pokrovsk, Donetsk region, as a result of enemy shelling, a gas distribution station was damaged, 28 thousand subscribers of the community were left without gas supply, the city military administration reported. In addition, as a result of Russian shelling of the village of Gnatovka, one person was killed and one was wounded.

15:52 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy will visit Kiev this week. Lemmy announced this at their joint press conference in London.

15:45 Biden plans to discuss with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday, September 13, permission for Ukraine to use long-range weapons on Russian territory, Blinken said.

15:36 All thermal power plants that supplied Kharkiv have been destroyed, so mobile boiler houses will be brought into the city for the winter, Shmyhal said. "We are focusing on Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region, because we understand that the Russians have actually destroyed all the thermal power plants that were around Kharkiv and held Kharkiv. We are bringing in small mobile boiler houses there, 1 MW, installed by local authorities," the prime minister said. Similar technologies will be used in other cities, he added.

15:23 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced new sanctions against Iran over missile deliveries to Russia. According to him, the full list of sanctions will be announced later today, but they will definitely include measures against Iran Air. "We have warned Tehran publicly, we have warned Tehran privately that this step would be a dangerous escalation. Russia has already received shipments of these missiles," Blinken said. He added that Russia will likely use these supplies within a few weeks.

14:37 In the first eight months of this year, weapons production in Ukraine has doubled compared to last year’s figures, Shmyhal reported.

13:48 The order to strike Okhmatdet was given by the then commander of the long-range aviation of the Russian Air Force, who was subsequently promoted to commander of the Air Force, said Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin. The Prosecutor General did not name the person, but from the description it follows that he is Lieutenant General Sergei Kobylash. He was notified of the suspicion in absentia.

13:14 International Criminal Court Prosecutor Karim Khan is on a visit to Kiev and has already visited the Okhmatdet children's hospital and spoken to one of the victims of the Russian strike. Commenting on Mongolia's refusal to arrest Putin, Khan noted that usually in such cases a general meeting of all states signatories to the Rome Statute is held, after which a decision is made. In turn, Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin said that Ukraine is working with partners to ensure that the country that ignored the ICC's demand "feels the consequences."

12:53 Russian troops attacked Kherson with drones, two people were wounded, OVA reported. In particular, the enemy dropped explosives on a bus stop. In addition, two residents of the region, who were injured due to Russian shelling the day before, went to the hospital today.

11:48 The White House has sent Congress a classified report on its strategy for the war in Ukraine, Reuters reports, citing sources. The report's preparation by June was put forward by Congress as a condition for the adoption of a $61 billion aid bill for Ukraine in April. Due to the missed deadlines, some lawmakers said they could block further funding. A congressional aide anonymously said the report was received on Monday, September 9, and they had not yet had a chance to review it.

11:16 Bild writes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are critically short of spare parts for Western equipment, which is why the army cannot use, in particular, howitzers supplied by the Netherlands, Germany and Italy.

10:39 The UN does not have the tools or authority to force Russia to comply with international law, said UN General Assembly President Dennis Francis. He explained that the Organization acts in accordance with shared values and beliefs, hoping that all members will adhere to their obligations and respect the territorial integrity of other countries.

Francis noted that the UN continues to "hope and expect" that Moscow will fulfill its obligations within the framework of participation in the Organization. He also noted that the General Assembly adopted a number of "strong resolutions" calling on the Russian Federation to comply with the law and withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine. "This aggression by Russia is a gross violation of international law, and we cannot tolerate it," Francis emphasized.

09:45 In the morning, Russian troops attacked Ponyatovka in the Kherson region from a UAV - a regular bus was damaged, one person was injured, the OVA reported. Over the previous day, five people were injured as a result of Russian shelling in the region.

09:36 In Donetsk Oblast, three people were killed as a result of Russian shelling on September 9: in Gornyak, Shchurovo and Kleban-Byk. Another five people in the oblast were injured in the past 24 hours, said OVA head Vadim Filashkin.

09:22 On Monday, September 9, Russians shelled Kupyansk: as a result of an enemy drone strike on a car, two people were injured, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov. As a result of enemy FPV drone strikes in the region over the past day, two more people were injured: in the village of Zakharovka in the Chuguevsky district and the village of Velyki Prokhody in the Kharkiv district.

09:07 In Cherkasy Oblast, several hits and falling debris were recorded during a night attack; two people were injured in the regional center, reported OVA head Igor Taburets. Several houses and private businesses were damaged. An infrastructure facility was damaged in Uman District.

08:51 Air defense destroyed 38 out of 46 Shahed-type attack UAVs at night, the Air Force reported. Three drones were lost on Ukrainian territory (probably fell under the influence of electronic warfare systems) and three more left Ukrainian airspace: one in the direction of the Russian Federation, two in the direction of occupied Luhansk region. In addition, Russia struck at night with an Iskander-M ballistic missile and an Kh-31P anti-radar missile.

Air defense operated in Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kirovograd, Nikolaev, Odessa, Kherson, Cherkasy, Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Zaporizhia and Poltava regions.

08:44 Drones attacked Moscow and the Moscow region at night. Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that one person was killed and three were injured as a result of a UAV attack on a residential building in Ramenskoye, Moscow Region. In total, fires were reported in three residential buildings. Drones also attacked Zhukovsky Airport, which was closed to aircraft at night and a fire broke out. Restrictions on the receipt and departure of aircraft were also introduced at Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, drones were shot down in Lyubertsy, Ramenskoye, near Podolsk and in Domodedovo.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 144 drones over central regions of Russia overnight, including 20 over the Moscow region. Publics wrote about an explosion near a Rosneft gas station in the Bryansk region.

00:12 The Netherlands is allowing Ukraine to use its weapons to strike deep into Russia's rear, said the country's Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans. He also called on other countries to lift restrictions: "Ukraine has the right to self-defense. And if the country is attacked from border areas or from Russian airfields, it can target military facilities. The same applies to enemy missiles - they can also be intercepted by our weapons over Russia." The minister specified that permission to strike Russia directly concerns the F-16 fighters that the Netherlands will transfer to Ukraine.

Anti-Israel protesters rally outside US presidential debate venue in Philadelphia
[IsraelTimes] Demonstrators are protesting against Israel over the war with Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
, outside the venue in Philadelphia where the US presidential debate is scheduled.

Scores of people line the streets shouting: "Justice is our demand," carrying banners and flags and holding signs that read "arms embargo now."

At least two of the demonstrators wave flags of Paleostinian terror groups — one holds up a green banner for the Islamist Hamas, and the other a red flag for the Marxist Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine.

Europe
Bosnia: More migrants taking the Balkan route once again
I guess they haven't got the message that Germany is closing the border.
[DW] The Drina River on the Bosnian-Serbian border is a bottleneck on the busy Balkan route. Some locals help migrants where they can, others see them as an opportunity to earn money. The authorities are overstretched.

It's a warm, sunny, late summer day on the Drina River near the village of Kozluk in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although the river can reach a depth of up to 1.5 meters (almost 5 feet) in places, it is mostly only knee-deep around here, which means it's almost possible to wade from one bank to the other.

Three young men have just emerged from the river; their shorts and T-shirts are still wet.

"We just swam over," one of them tells DW. He says his name is Aman and that he is 20-years-old. "We saw that no one was on the other side, so we set off. In some places, the river bed is dry. We got wet, but the sun is shining, so we'll dry off quickly," he says, smiling. All three laugh.

WELL-WORN REFUGEE PATH
After almost a full decade since Angela Merkel threw open the doors, well-trodden seems a fair description.
The three young men come from Morocco and are on their way to western Europe. They traveled first to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
and then to Greece. From there, they crossed over into North Macedonia and on to Serbia. Until just a few days ago, they were in a reception facility near Belgrade.

The Drina River is part of what is known as the "Balkan route" used by many migrants colonists en route to northwestern Europe. This land route usually begins in Turkey and then winds up through the Balkans through either Bulgaria or Greece.

VOLUNTEERS ON HAND TO HELP
Here, at the Drina River, which forms a large part of the border between Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, the three young men waited until the coast was clear and for a good opportunity to cross. "No problem, no problem," they say at the end of almost every sentence.

One of the three sustained minor injuries to his legs while crossing the river. A volunteer from a Bosnian Red Thingy team that happened to be in the area when they came out of the river, bandages the young man's right knee.

The Red Thingy team patrols the river bank regularly on the lookout for migrants colonists in need of food or medical assistance.

Sometimes, says team leader Mladen Majstorovic, they are called on by the border police.

His colleague, Darko Jovanovic, says that the Red Thingy team treated a total of 800 refugees here and handed out almost 3,000 meals in the first eight months of the year.

MIGRANTS HAVE DROWNED IN THE RIVER
Every day, dozens of migrants colonists cross into Bosnia along this section of river. Hardly anyone stops them.

This part of the border is patrolled by an insufficient number of Bosnian border guards. Hundreds — perhaps even thousands — of guards would be needed to patrol the entire region.

The situation is so dramatic that at some border crossings, there is only one officer processing all entries and departures at a time.

Despite claims to the contrary, the Balkan route was never entirely shut down. Indeed it has been particularly busy again for quite some time now — especially along the Drina.

There have been a number of tragedies on the route in recent years. The last one took place just a few weeks ago when at least 10 migrants colonists drowned in the Drina close to the Serbian town of Ljubovija on August 22 when a completely overcrowded inflatable boat capsized.

The people were apparently crammed onto the boat by human traffickers. Eighteen people managed to save themselves.

'IT ALL SEEMS ORGANIZED'
Nihad Suljic has also noticed that the number of migrants colonists at the Drina has risen sharply in recent months.

In addition to his regular work in the eastern Bosnian city of Tuzla, the 34-year-old is also a human rights
One man's rights are another man's existential threat.
activist who helps stranded migrants colonists by providing them with the bare necessities.

Suljic is well known in Bosnia because he helped set up a cemetery for migrants colonists who had been found dead in the country.

"When it comes to migration, Bosnia is once again the center of attention," Suljic told DW. "But unlike in the pandemic years and the period immediately preceding it, the human traffickers now seem to be perfectly integrated into the structures."

After crossing the border, migrants colonists used to walk in small groups to the reception facilities or straight on towards Croatia, says Suljic, adding that migrants colonists are now rarely seen on the streets, because the reception centers are all full. "It all seems to be perfectly organized," he says.

MIGRANTS KEEP OUT OF SIGHT
Miroslav Radisic says much the same thing. He owns a guesthouse only a few meters from the Sepak crossing on the Bosnian-Serbian border, about 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) downstream from the city of Zvornik in Bosnia.

Radisic says that business with the refugees is booming, that everything is interconnected and everyone in the region knows it.

According to Radisic, taxi drivers wait right outside his guesthouse and negotiate with arriving migrants colonists about prices.

"You can't get any sleep around here, with taxis coming and going all the time," he complains. "Then there are the sirens blaring. People fight over the refugees: Sometimes ten refugees arrive and 20 taxi drivers are waiting for them here."

Radisic is standing underneath the bridge over the Drina that leads to Serbia, explaining how migrants colonists cross the border on the underside of the bridge.

"They climb onto the steel girders under the bridge and abseil down a rope hanging down on our side that no one removes — not even the officers here at the border."

When asked why this is the case, Radisic says that the border will only be hermetically patrolled when the border police get enough personnel.

STEPPING UP BORDER PATROLS
In response to a query from DW, the border police in Bosnia and Herzegovina said that the force is monitoring the border more closely and that more coppers and members of the special security forces have been deployed. Their aim is to stop irregular migration.

"Since the beginning of the year, border coppers have registered 5,477 people who have illegally crossed or tried to cross the border," the border police said in a statement. "In most cases, human traffickers, who bring people across the Drina either in private cars or with boats, are also involved."

The three young Moroccans seem to have come to Bosnia on their own steam — at least they make no mention of human traffickers.

They say that they first want to go to the Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, and then cross the green border into Croatia near Bihac in northwestern Bosnia. They are headed for Germany.

"We cannot lead normal lives in Morocco," they say, when asked why they have made the journey. Then they get into a taxi and set off towards Zvornik.

Egypt ditches American F-16s for Chinese J-10Cs in a major shift
From MSN:
The United States has suffered a reputational defeat. Egypt, which for years has been purchasing American weapons and even launched licensed production of Abrams tanks, no longer wants the F-16. Instead of American planes, it has chosen Chinese Chengdu J-10C aircraft.
Chinese manufacture, Egyptian inshallah maintenance? Israel is once again blessed in the caliber of her enemies.
The F-16 is the backbone of Egypt's air force. The country operates as many as 218 aircraft, including 40 in the old F-16A/B variant. In modernizing its air force, the Egyptian authorities decided to replace the oldest F-16s with a new aircraft type.
To be fair, a country living on Gulf oil charity and IMF loans cannot afford the cost of first quality machines. And given that most of the country is held together by duck tape, chewing gum, and baling wire, why should their air force be any different?
Cairo also rejected the American proposal to deliver the latest version of the F-16, the F-16V, and the Russian offer to replace the Vipers with MiG-29M2 aircraft. Instead, Egypt chose the Chinese multi-role aircraft Chengdu J-10C.

In light of this information, which Cairo and Beijing have not officially confirmed, the recent presentation of Chinese aircraft gains a new context. During the Egypt International Airshow 2024, organized in early September, six Chinese J-10C and a Y-20 Kunpeng transport aircraft flew over the Egyptian pyramids.

J-10C AIRCRAFT FOR EGYPT
Egypt's decision is interpreted as an attempt to become less dependent on the United States. Cairo is diversifying its weapons purchases. A decade ago, it ordered Su-35 and MiG-29M2 aircraft from Russia, but the operation of these machines and Russia's reliability as a supplier of parts was unsatisfactory.

Subsequently, Egypt ordered 54 French Dassault Rafale aircraft (with an option to order more) and is now replacing part of its F-16 fleet with Chinese aircraft. As noted by Maciej Szopa from Defence 24, one of the factors influencing this decision may be that Israel is likely unaware of the specifics, capabilities, and weaknesses of Chinese aircraft. Pakistan is currently the only foreign user of Chinese J-10 aircraft.

The decision is likely political, as the J-10C, although more modern than the old versions of the F-16, is inferior to the new variants of this machine offered to Egypt.

CHENGDU J-10 — CHINESE MULTI-ROLE AIRCRAFT
The Chengdu J-10 is an aircraft designed in China in the 1980s, initially as a fighter aircraft and then, in line with global trends, as a multi-role machine.

Its serial production began in 2003, resulting in over 600 units so far. The J-10 has a "canard" aerodynamic layout, is powered by a single engine,
…what happens when poor maintenance causes that single engine to shut down?
and weighs about 43,000 pounds in take-off configuration, of which 12,000 pounds can be dedicated to armament.

#1  Some official got bribed well.

J-10C is a giant piece of crap.
The J-10C has been reported to have consistently prevailed in simulated combat engagements against Su-35 fighters acquired from Russia, with the fighter's reduced radar visibility allowing it to detect and fire on its target first.

Only in fixed tests. The Canards on the front along with that air intake (and the Chinese gods help them if the exterior tanks are on) make radar bounce around more than your mom to different boyfriends. The small body means it can't carry a lot of fuel and weapons so it has really short legs.

The Israeli air force will have a fucking field day with these things.

IDF video shows ‘horrific conditions’ in tunnel where 6 hostages were held, executed
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] Spokesman says other hostages being held now in airless ‘tunnels like this’; bodies of 2 Hamas terrorists killed on day tunnel was found taken for DNA testing, could be the murderers

Footage showing the inside of a tunnel in the southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...

bandidos turbans last month and their bodies found and recovered by Israeli troops two days later, was released by the Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday.

The video showed IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari giving a tour of the claustrophobic underground passageway in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood. The tunnel was seen littered with bottles of urine, women’s clothes, and large blood stains on the ground, where the hostages were murdered.

Hostages Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Ori Danino, Alex Lobanov, Carmel Gat, and Almog Sarusi were executed in the tunnel by their captors on August 29, before being discovered by troops on August 31.

Alongside the footage, the IDF released new details of the tunnel and the operation to find the bodies of the six murdered Israelis, including that they were being held only some 700 meters away from where another hostage had been rescued alive days earlier.

The tunnel where their bodies were found is a narrow 120-meter-long passageway — not tall enough to stand in without bending over — that connected parts of a large underground network in the Tel Sultan neighborhood, which according to the IDF belonged to Hamas’s Rafah Brigade.

The tunnel network was one of the largest underground complexes found by the army in Gaza to date, military sources said.

Inside the tunnel, located some 20 meters underground, the IDF found food and equipment that it assessed were used by the Hamas bandidos turbans and the Israeli hostages to survive underground for extended periods.

According to IDF sources, the supplies were enough to survive in the tunnel for at least several weeks.

Among the items found in the tunnel were dried food, water, a bucket used as a makeshift toilet, numerous bottles of urine, mattresses, and assault rifle magazines.

The video was shown to the families recently and to members of the Israeli cabinet.

"The tunnel shaft was in a children’s room, in a house," Hagari said in the video, pointing to Disney characters painted on the walls above the 20-meter-deep shaft. "Snow White and Mickey Mouse on the wall, [above] a tunnel shaft, where the hostages were murdered downstairs," he said.

"Here you see their blood on the floor. Here you see their last moments, and here they were brutally murdered," a visibly sweating Hagari said in a Hebrew-language version of the video, while inside the tunnel.

"They were here in this tunnel in horrific conditions, where there is no air to breathe, where you cannot stand. They survived, but they were murdered by terrorists," Hagari said in an English-language video.

"There are still hostages, 101, some of them are alive in the same conditions in tunnels like this in Gaza. We need to do everything we can... to bring them back home alive," he added.

The military said it did not have any concrete or real-time intelligence on the six hostages being held there in the weeks before they were murdered, but had general indications that Israeli abductees could be in the neighborhood, and therefore had operated carefully above ground and even more so underground.

After spotting Israeli forces approaching the area, the Hamas bandidos turbans guarding the six hostages decided to execute them, the terror group has hinted. Israel also believes this is what transpired.

On August 30, the IDF discovered a tunnel shaft in a children’s room in a home that had been blocked up by Hamas.

A day later, on August 31, troops finally managed to enter the tunnel using heavy machinery, where inside they discovered a locked blast door — believed to have been locked by the bandidos turbans who murdered the six hostages. Later that day, the bodies of the six were found.

By early on September 1, they were extracted and brought to Israel for identification and burial.

Also on August 30, the IDF said troops killed two Hamas button men who attempted to flee from the tunnel complex.

Their bodies were taken to Israel to run DNA testing to determine if they were the bandidos turbans who killed the six hostages. The IDF believed that at least two bandidos turbans killed the six.

Two days before the six hostages were murdered, on August 27, the IDF rescued hostage Farhan al-Qadi from a tunnel — part of the same network — located less than 700 meters away.

There was no direct passage between the tunnel where al-Qadi was found and the bodies of the six hostages, as Hamas had blocked the route. al-Qadi also did not know about the six hostages being held nearby, according to military sources.

On the night between August 27 and 28, troops exchanged fire with three Hamas button men who had attempted to flee from the major tunnel network where al-Qadi was found. All three Hamas operatives and one Israeli soldier, Staff Sgt. Amit Friedman, were killed in the exchange.

The IDF had been operating in Tel Sultan for several weeks to locate tunnel shafts as part of the major Hamas underground network in the area, one of which would later lead soldiers to the bodies of the six hostages.

NAMES LEAKED
The IDF’s Information Security Department was also investigating how the names of the six hostages were leaked on social media hours before the bodies were brought out of Gaza for identification, while the troops were still inside the tunnel.

Hagari said the leak not only affected the families who heard about the deaths of their loved ones on social media, but also endangered troops who had still been operating in the tunnel complex.

SENIOR OFFICER WOUNDED IN TUNNEL COLLAPSE
Highlighting the dangers of operating in Hamas tunnels in Gaza, Col. (res.) Golan Vach, a senior Home Front Command search and rescue officer, was maimed in a tunnel collapse in the central Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

The incident came amid efforts to investigate and demolish tunnels in the area, the IDF said.

Vach was trapped inside the tunnel and later rescued, before being taken to a hospital in Israel. He was listed in stable, pH balanced condition.

HAMAS BATTALION COMMANDER KILLED
Also on Tuesday, the IDF announced that the commander of Hamas’s Tel Sultan Battalion in the terror group’s Rafah Brigade — where the bodies of the six hostages were found — was killed in a dronezap several weeks ago.

Mahmoud Hamdan was killed alongside three company commanders in the Tel Sultan Battalion, according to the IDF.

The military said that additional strikes killed several more top commanders in the battalion, along with dozens of operatives.

The IDF said Hamdan took a "significant part" in planning the October 7 onslaught, and was involved in other attacks amid the ongoing war.

More pictures of the tunnels should be released.

As it would enlighten, many street civilians and even a few college protesters. Many generally are cueless as to how sophisticated the tunnels are and build.

I'd bet many envision dirt walls and ceilings.
These 100's of miles of tunnels are clearly a professional construction job and not just a bunch of megalomaniac terrorists with a shovel digging their way to Israel.

Which only strengthens the growing generally accepted opinion now, that many GAZAN Adults knew of the tunnels and likely assisted in the building, or hiding in various ways.

Which makes those Gaza adults co-conspirators to Oct 7th and subsequent murders the tunnels were used for.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man charged in bottle attack on Jewish students in Pittsburgh accused of earlier assault
UPittUniversity Times] The man charged with attacking two Pitt students on Aug. 30 was allegedly involved in another incident the day before involving two people from Carnegie Mellon University, according to court records.

Jarrett Buba, 52, of Pittsburgh, was arrested immediately after the incident on Aug. 30 at the Cathedral of Learning where two Jewish students were struck from behind with a green glass bottle by a man wearing a keffiyeh. One student suffered several superficial cuts to his neck, while the other, who was struck on the cheek with the bottle, was treated for a possible concussion.

Because the two students were both wearing Jewish yarmulkes and their attacker was wearing the Paleostinian-associated keffiyeh, the FBI was asked by campus police to investigate the incident as a possible hate crime. Pitt released a statement this week saying that the FBI consulted with the District Attorney’s Office, which has not filed charges related to a hate crime.

The incident involving the CMU affiliates took place around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 29 near 300 South Craig Street. The two people told CMU Police that a white male wearing a black and green tank top threw a green bottle at them, which struck a nearby car. CMU Police searched the area for the man on Aug. 29, but didn’t find him.

After the attack at the Cathedral made headlines, one of the Craig Street victims contacted CMU police and said they believed that Buba was the same person who had attacked them. After comparing surveillance video and Buba’s arrest photo, CMU Police concluded it was the same person in both incidents, the criminal complaint said.

The Craig Street incident did not involve any of the hate crime overtones of the Cathedral attack. In both incidents, the victims reported making eye contact with Buba before he attacked them, according to the criminal complaints.

A longtime friend of Buba’s told the University Times that they had never heard him express hatred toward Jews. The friend is Jewish.

Buba has been charged in the Pitt incident with two counts each of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment, along with resisting arrest. He also faces attempted aggravated assault and simple assault charges in the CMU-related incident, along with recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

He was denied bail. The Tribune-Review reported that District Judge Nicholas Martini said the suspect posed a substantial risk to the victims and the community and ordered Buba to undergo a behavioral clinic evaluation while at the jail awaiting a Sept. 12 preliminary hearing.

Kurdish forces kill five Turkish-backed militants in Afrin: Monitor
[Rudaw] At least five Ottoman Turkish-backed bully boyz were killed in an infiltration operation by Kurdish forces near the northern Syrian city of Afrin, a war monitor reported on Saturday.

"The Afrin Liberation Forces [HRE] carried out an infiltration operation on military positions belonging to the [Syrian] National Army factions loyal to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
on the axes of Anab and Maryamin in Afrin countryside, northwest of Aleppo," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a UK-based war monitor.

Five Ottoman Turkish-backed bully boyz were killed in the festivities that ensued, according to the Observatory.

Afrin is a Kurdish city that was taken over by Turkey and Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian rebels in a military operation against Kurdish fighters of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in 2018. Most of the Kurdish population fled and Ottoman Turkish authorities resettled displaced Arabs from elsewhere in Syria into their vacated homes.

Turkey considers the YPG - the backbone of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) - as an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a Kurdish group that has waged an armed insurgency against the Ottoman Turkish state for decades in the struggle for greater Kurdish rights and designated a terrorist organization by Ankara.

The HRE occasionally carries out hit-and-run attacks on Ottoman Turkish-backed forces in Afrin.

Syrians rose against the regime of President Bashir al-Assad in 2011, leading to a full-scale civil war that has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and has left millions more in need of dire humanitarian assistance.

Rebels kill 15 regime soldiers in northwest Syria clashes: Monitor
[Rudaw] At least 15 regime soldiers have been killed in separate festivities with rebel forces in northwest Syria, a war monitor reported on Thursday, with tensions surging into increased violence.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor, reported on Wednesday that 12 regime soldiers were killed in an "infiltration operation" by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else

Another operation by factions of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army "that reject rapprochement with the regime carried out an infiltration operation on the regime forces’ positions" in eastern Aleppo province near Manbij, killing three and injuring two people, according to the Observatory.

The festivities mark an escalation of tensions in rebel-held northwest Syria, which comprises half of Idlib province, as well as parts of Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia provinces.

They are the last rebel-held bastions in the country after President Bashir al-Assad recaptured swathes of territory since Syrians rose up against the regime March 2011, erupting into a full-scale civil war.

HTS, the former Syrian branch of al-Qaeda, is the prominent force among dozens rebel factions in the northwest. The group, which has been internationally recognized as a terror organization, controls large swathes of Idlib and parts of Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia provinces.

Through the Syrian conflict, Turkey has supported rebel forces, including those with links to al-Qaeda and other Death Eater groups. Concurrently, Turkey has launched numerous operations into Syrian territory, most notably against the Kurds in Afrin in 2018, while occupying large swathes of the country’s north.

rapprochement talks have not been received kindly by Syrians living in Ottoman Turkish-held northern areas, who say that Ankara is betraying them. The talks also have drawn criticism from Ottoman Turkish-backed rebels for not being invited to the Damascus-Ankara normalization negotiations.

Gallant: Hamas as ‘military formation’ in Gaza is gone, IDF focus shifting to north
[IsraelTimes] Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
is no longer an organized military force in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip after Israel’s 11-month ongoing military campaign, sparked by the terror group’s October 7 massacre, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant told foreign journalists on Monday. Later Tuesday, meanwhile, Gallant told troops that the IDF was shifting its focus from Gaza to the northern front, and that they should prepare for a ground offensive there.

"Hamas as a military formation no longer exists. Hamas is engaged in guerrilla warfare and we are still fighting Hamas bully boyz and pursuing Hamas leadership," Gallant told the foreign press, while warning that the window was closing on an opportunity to reach a temporary hostage-ceasefire deal with the Paleostinian terror group, which he said could also bring calm to the volatile northern border with Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel.
Gallant accused Hamas of intransigence in the talks and called for more international pressure on the Iran-backed terror group. Still, he said that after inflicting heavy damage recently on Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon, there is an opportunity for at least the first phase of the deal.

SHIFTING FOCUS TO LEBANON
He said he believed a truce with Hamas could also lower tensions with Hezbollah and allow Israelis who have been displaced since October 8 to return to their homes in northern Israel, near the Lebanese border.
Wishful thinking. Despite all the talk, everyone demanding a ceasefire just wants the IDF to go home before it decisively beats Hamas, making it impossible to return to the status quo ante.
"Achieving an agreement is also a strategic opportunity that gives us a high chance to change the security situation on all fronts," Gallant said.
As an IDF general and former commander of the Southern Command, Defense Minister Gallant should know the harm he does by spouting such arrant nonsense. Since there is only a small chance of an agreement, and none that Hamas would abide by it — unless building up to the next 10/7, as they promised — what can he possibly think to achieve by pushing this naively hopeful line?
However,
it's easy to be generous with someone else's money...
speaking later to troops during a drill in northern Israel simulating a ground offensive in Lebanon, Gallant said Israel was moving its focus to the northern front and they should prepare for a Gaza-style ground operation there.

"The center of gravity is moving to the north, we are nearing the completion of our missions in the south, but we have a task here that has not been carried out, and this mission is to change the security situation and return the residents to their homes," he said to reservists of the Oded Brigade in northern Israel.

"These instructions you are waiting for, I gave in the south and saw the forces at work," Gallant said, referring to Israel’s ground offensive in Gaza. He added that such orders "will come here as well and you should be prepared and ready to carry out this mission."

"We are finishing training the entire order of battle for a ground operation [in Lebanon], in all its aspects," Gallant said. "I’ve already seen in many circumstances where I stood next to troops who told me: ’You are just talking.’ After a week I met them on the ground."

Hezbollah began striking Israel immediately after Hamas’s October 7 massacre ignited the war. Israel and Hezbollah have exchanged cross-border fire daily, coming close on several occasions to a full-blown war.

The fighting has forced tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese to flee their homes near the volatile border and resulted in 26 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 20 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 434 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. Another 78 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have also been killed.

It seems unlikely that Hamas would accept a partial deal in which it would give up the hostages — its most valuable bargaining chips — for only a brief pause in the Israeli military campaign.

But international mediators have been working on a bridging proposal that they hope could meet the demands of all sides. US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Too old and senile to be prosecuted, not too old and senile to set national policy...
said last week he was "optimistic" that a deal was within reach.
And then they thought there was no chance, given Hamas’s new demands for drastically increased numbers of hard boys in exchange for civilians and corpses. But there is so much ego tied up in making a deal that they keep going back, and Hamas waits to see what the better offer will be.
At home, the Israeli government faces significant domestic pressure to reach a deal as well, particularly after the deaths of six hostages who were executed by their Hamas captors earlier this month as troops approached the area where they were being held.

Gallant described the current situation as a "strategic junction" — where Israel can reach a deal with its adversaries or risk fighting a broader war that could draw in Hezbollah and its sponsor Iran.
Yeah, yeah. Your adversaries just want you all to lay down and die. How do you reach a deal with that?
Gallant said he prefers a deal, but that Israel is ready for all scenarios. "We are capable of defending ourselves and we can also retaliate if necessary," he said. "We have the ability to hit any strategic goal in Iran."
You stick to that military stuff, Minister. It’s good for a man to play to his strengths…and avoid his weaknesses.

#1  Dr. Einat Wilf: I listen to the Palestinians, there is no hostage deal
This breaks my heart. My country is being ripped apart as our people fight each other saying to take the deal or not. There is no deal to be taken, and if there was one, it is only the same demand Hamas made on October 8th. They want to go back to how things were on October 6th, and that is why they took the hostages, as an insurance policy, and to show the world that you can invade Israel and suffer no consequences.

It appears that Israel is cutting Gaza in two, and will probably greatly limit the flow across that border. The south will only be entered via a border crossing with Egypt controlled by Israel. "Never Again" becomes a reality (perhaps) once again.

Britain
Why Not Deport Foreign Criminals Instead of Emptying the Jails?
[Breitbart] Reform UK deputy leader Richard Tice has questioned why the left-wing Labour Party government is releasing criminals back onto the streets early rather than deporting the thousands of foreign criminals clogging up space in British jails.

In a question posed in the House of Commons, Tice, who serves as Nigel Farage’s second-in-command questioned: “Why, when there are some 10,000 foreign criminals blocking up space in our jails, why aren’t they being removed and deported, simultaneously saving the British taxpayer billions of pounds every year and having the support of millions of British voters?”

This call was seconded by Mark Fairhurst, the national chairman of the Prison Officers’ Association, who told TalkTV on Tuesday that while there are some difficulties surrounding deportations, such as the need to identify a foreign criminal’s country of origin and for those countries to actually accept returns of their nationals, there is “absolutely no reason why we couldn’t repatriate and create an additional 10,000 spaces.”

“Over the last couple of years, ridiculous as it sounds, we’ve been offering financial incentives for prisoners to go back to their country of origin,” Fairhurst said, noting that this has often happened with Albanian criminals, who still represent the largest foreign cohort in British prisons.
Good to know.
The POA chairman pointed out that the UK does have a returns policy with Albania and therefore the government could easily start to remove more Albanian criminals from the country.

Fairhurst also argued that the £4 billion earmarked by the Labour government to invest in building more prisons could be better spent on modernising the current prison system, which he described as “crumbling”, as well as putting money into funding more mental health spaces as there are a “lot of people in prisons with acute mental health disorders because it’s the only place” to put them.

As of the end of March, there were 10,422 foreign criminals in jails in England and Wales, an increase from 10,148 at the same time last year. Foreign offenders make up around 12 per cent of the total prison population, costing the UK taxpayer £47,000 per head to feed, house, and rehabilitate, or around £500 million per year, according to The Telegraph.

Last year, the government only managed to deport less than 4,000 foreign criminals from the country. While this represented the highest figure in four years, criminal deportations still remained below pre-pandemic levels, with the UK previously averaging around 5,500 removals between 2010 and 2019.

Meanwhile, as of September of 2023, the government had released 11,800 foreign criminals back onto the streets of Britain instead of being deported, which represented nearly a 100 per cent increase over the previous five years. Comparatively, since 2010, less than one thousand foreign criminals have been removed to serve the remainder of their sentences in their home countries.

Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood
…such a traditional English name!
has claimed that foreign criminals “are being deported” but admitted that “nothing will change as far as the deportation of foreign national offenders is concerned.” Mahmood went on to blame the “inheritance” of overcrowded prisons left by the former Tory government for why the Labour government had to take the “additional measure” of releasing thousands of criminals back onto the streets of Britain.

Mahmood has previously claimed that the early release of criminals was necessary to prevent a “total breakdown of civil law and order”.
This makes no sense, nor was it meant to accomplish anything more than to push native English buttons.
On Tuesday, the government released an estimated 1,700 criminals back onto the streets early, with the expectation of releasing around 5,500 criminals who have served just 40 per cent of their sentences.

Those released early have reportedly included domestic abusers, drug dealers, thieves, and violent criminals. Those convicted of serious violent crimes, with sentences of more than four years, as well as terrorists and sex offenders are supposedly not eligible for early release.

While domestic abusers are technically not supposed to be released early, there have been warnings that domestic abusers who were convicted of other crimes could be set free. Adding insult to injury, reports have also claimed that because of the system being overwhelmed, many victims of domestic abuse have not been notified that their victimiser is set to be released.

Peskov: Accusations against Russia of using US bloggers are unfounded
Direct Translaion via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Accusations against Russia that it allegedly uses famous American bloggers to influence public opinion in the United States are unfounded. This was stated on September 10 by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.

“You know, to be honest, I would like to hear the specific name of a specific top US blogger that Russia is using for some purpose,” Peskov said, commenting on a recent statement by US intelligence that Russia is allegedly using famous American bloggers to influence public opinion in the US.

The Kremlin spokesman added that such statements are unfounded accusations and are not based on anything.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 6, Peskov called the US accusations against the Russian Federation regarding alleged interference in the American elections nonsense.

Earlier in the day, on September 6, a Kremlin spokesman called the new US charges and sanctions an attempt to put pressure on Russia. According to him, the US side continues to try to put pressure on Russians and Russian media outlets that inform citizens and the world community about what is happening in the world from the Russian point of view.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 5 that the Kremlin's favorite in the US presidential election was the incumbent head of state Joe Biden, but after the latter's withdrawal from the race, Moscow will support the Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris. The Russian leader noted that one of her positive qualities is her infectious laughter. However, Putin added that the American people will choose the US president, and Russia will respect the choice.

Following Putin's remarks about the American elections, the White House issued a statement that the American people would determine the future president of the United States.

Dotcom: Zelenskyy not allowed to go to peace talks with Russia

Kim Schmitz, also known as Kim Dotcom, founder of file-sharing sites Megaupload and Mega, believes that Vladimir Zelenskyy is being prevented from starting peace talks with Moscow.

About this he wrote on his page in the social network.

‘Zelenskyy is not allowed to go to peace talks because it means a Russian victory, which will lead to Harris’ failure in the election. Biden and Harris are disgusting mass murderers,’ Dotcom stated.

He also noted that Ukraine is already ‘on its knees’, but for the sake of the Democratic Party of the United States should die ‘another hundred thousand Ukrainians’.

Earlier, the businessman expressed the opinion that the Kiev regime is on its last breath.

On 8 September, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the conflict in Ukraine had reached the point when it was necessary to start discussing ways to end it as soon as possible.

Junior Sergeant Davletzyanov, while performing a task to withdraw and change firing positions, received information about the installation of mines on the route of the Russian armored group. Despite the danger, he left the tank, quickly brought the mine trawl into working position, and then made a passage in the minefields. This allowed the Russian armored groups to leave the occupied area without losses.

Iraqi warplanes kill three suspected ISIS militants in Diyala
[Rudaw] At least three Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) Death Eaters were killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
carried out by the Iraqi air force in Diyala province, the army announced on Friday.

Iraqi warplanes "carried out a successful airstrike using F-16 aircraft in the Hamrin Mountains within the Diyala Operations Command sector, targeting a terrorist hideout with a terrorist detachment with three elements inside," the army’s Joint Operations Command said in a statement.

All three suspected Death Eaters were killed in the strike, the statement added, and "all weapons and equipment inside the hideout were destroyed."

The strike was the second on suspected ISIS locations in the Hamrin Mountain range within a month, with a previous bombardment in late August killing another jihadist cell.

Iraq’s air force regularly pursues and targets ISIS hideouts across the country, particularly in the disputed areas.

To combat ISIS in these areas, the Iraqi government and the KRG’s Peshmerga ministry agreed in 2021 to form two joint brigades that will be under full control of Baghdad.

In late August, a joint operation by the Iraqi army and US forces in the western Anbar province killed 16 ISIS Death Eaters.

In June, at least seven ISIS members were killed in two separate airstrikes in Salahaddin, days after three ISIS members were killed in an operation in Kirkuk.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Polio vaccinations begin in northern Gaza despite operational challenges
[IsraelTimes] Health and aid officials say access restrictions, evacuation orders, fuel shortages hampering operation to vaccinate some 200,000 children.

The campaign in northern Gaza, the part of the territory hardest hit by Israel’s 11-month military offensive against Hamas terrorists, follows the vaccination of more than 446,000 Palestinian children in central and south Gaza earlier this month.

Israel also issued an evacuation order in north Gaza, the first in more than two weeks, that included areas that are part of humanitarian pause zones agreed upon for the polio vaccinations, the UN noted on Monday.

However, the IDF said the area was an “active combat zone” after the evacuation order was given in response to Hamas firing two rockets from the area to Ashkelon. It added that residents in the area had received repeated warnings.

The campaign to vaccinate some 640,000 children in Gaza began on September 1, following confirmation by the WHO last month that a baby had been partially paralyzed by the type 2 polio virus, the first such case in the territory in 25 years.

Watchdog challenges SOCOM's plan to buy new armed aircraft to watch over special ops troops
[Stars & Stripes] the new aircraft that defense officials have selected to watch over special operators working in austere environments and consider slowing its purchase of the planes, a federal watchdog warned in a new report.

The Government Accountability Office — an independent federal auditing agency — warned in a report published last week that U.S. Special Operations Command had yet to complete an analysis justifying its plans to purchase dozens of the new planes, dubbed OA-1K armed overwatch aircraft.

The warning follows a similar assessment completed by GAO in December when the watchdog urged SOCOM and the Defense Department to slow the $2 billion armed overwatch program until they could determine precisely how many of the new aircraft are needed. In its latest report — based on new findings including a classified assessment of SOCOM’s armed overwatch program — GAO suggested the Pentagon reevaluate the number of OA-1Ks needed, limit the purchases to testing aircraft for now, and study the risks and challenges special operators could face when supported by the planes. GAO officials wrote questions remained about how to use the new aircraft and the logistics programs needed to deploy them into the austere locations where they are believed to be most useful.

"It is essential that the Department of Defense act quickly to fully address GAO’s open recommendations," the report reads. "Otherwise, it risks buying more aircraft than it needs. In addition, it may not be able to fully utilize the aircraft because it has not addressed identified challenges." The GAO report did not elaborate on most of the challenges that it found with the OA-1K aircraft, which officials said are detailed in the classified report on the program. The OA-1K is a single-engine, turboprop aircraft manufactured by L3 Harris and Air Tractor. It is based on the manufacturers’ AT-802U Sky Warden, a heavily modified crop dusting-style plane that can be outfitted to conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations and can carry 500-pound to 1,000-pound bombs and guns from .50-caliber machine guns to 20mm cannons. SOCOM earlier this year trimmed the OA-1K program from a planned 75-plane fleet down to 62 planes. The command said the cuts were based on budgeting issues and not based on the GAO’s recommendations in December.
