Libyan Government Sets Up Emergency Response Team for Sabha Floods
[LIBYAREVIEW] Libyan Prime Minister of the Parliament-designate government, Osama Hammad, issued an order on Saturday to form an Emergency and Rapid Response Committee for the city of Sabha
...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. This was a great comfort to everyone but the slaves peddled in secret. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft.....
and other towns and regions in southwestern Libya.

The committee will be led by the Minister of Labour and Rehabilitation, with membership including several ministers and heads of government agencies.

The committee is tasked with addressing the consequences of the recent floods caused by heavy rains. Its duties include providing immediate relief to citizens, repairing damages to services, and declaring a state of emergency to prepare for potential weather changes.

The committee will operate directly from Sabha and other southwestern areas and will remain active until the weather system passes.

In conjunction with this, Sabha International Airport has suspended flight operations due to severe damage caused by the heavy rainfall. Both passenger terminals and the check-in system have been affected, disrupting operations.

Authorities are assessing the extent of the damage and working on repairs to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. This suspension will cause delays for both domestic and international flights.

The Libyan government urged citizens to be cautious when travelling between cities in the south due to road conditions and the risks posed by the continuing bad weather. It also warned residents near valleys and flood-prone areas to remain alert as more rain is expected in the coming days.

The ongoing crisis in Libya, exacerbated by years of conflict, has made responding to emergencies like this more challenging. Libya remains politically divided, with rival administrations struggling to address the country’s infrastructure needs.

Who is FBI senior official Jeffrey Veltri
[American Liberty] Jeffrey Veltri, the FBI official who briefed the nation on the latest investigation into an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, reportedly had his social media scrubbed of anti-Trump posts before being promoted to head the Miami field office. According to The Washington Times, Veltri was known for his anti-Trump views on Facebook.

After Sunday's assassination attempt, former Fox News Associate Producer Kyle Becker posted on social media that a whistleblower informed the House Judiciary Committee in November that Veltri was "vocally and adamantly anti-Trump."

The whistleblower further alleged that FBI Director Christopher Wray, Deputy Director Paul Abbate and Executive Assistant Director Jennifer Moore were involved in directing Veltri to clean up his social media prior to his promotion:

"The home of President Donald Trump is located in the area of responsibility of the Miami Field Office. It was well known that Veltri was adamantly and vocally Anti-Trump," said the disclosure, which The Washington Times has obtained. "Wray, Abbate and Moore wanted to ensure that Veltri appeared non-political, Veltri was ordered to remove all of his Facebook and Social media posts that were Anti-Trump."

The whistleblower said the bureau leaders weren't concerned about Mr. Veltri's "bias against Trump" but whether "information related to Veltri's political bias can be removed from the public domain."

The whistleblower said Mr. Veltri, who served as acting deputy assistant director of the bureau's security division until March, also oversaw efforts to suspend agents' security clearances if they seemed to be a "right-wing radical."

The whistleblower's allegations are serious and deserve further investigation, said Chris Swecker, a lawyer and law enforcement professional who served as assistant director of the FBI's criminal investigative division during the George W. Bush administration.

Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker is asking how suspect Ryan Wesley Routh was able to get into position where he could have fired at Donald Trump, and whether he had inside help.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Trump gunman Ryan Routh may have had 'inside' information on his whereabouts claims former FBI official.

Suspect was around the golf course treeline for 12 hours, per charges.

Donald Trump's alleged would-be assassin apparently knowing when he would be playing golf raises the prospect he could have been tipped off, a former FBI assistant director has told DailyMail.com.

In the hours since a Secret Service agent fired on a man authorities said was attempting to assassinate the former president, law enforcement officers have been scooping up information on suspect Ryan Wesley Routh. Still unanswered is how he was able to conceal himself in shrubbery with an AK-47 near the 6th hole of the Trump International golf course in West Palm Beach.

Trump's golf schedule is not made public in advance – although the game is a regular pass-time for the former president.

'If you're thinking outside the four corners here, there could be somebody at that club – at Mar a Lago, or at the golf club – that just doesn't like him and has different political views. And, you know, they could have fed this information,' former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker told DailyMail.com, describing one possible scenario or motive.

He said Routh could have received information on Trump's movements either deliberately or by someone who shared it unwittingly. Or, Routh may have been staking out and studying Trump's movements to prepare for his deed, putting his knowledge to use, he said.

'I mean, there's only a couple of possibilities here. One is this guy had inside information, and having enough time to get to that fifth hole – that location between the fifth and sixth hole, and get himself set up.'

'So if somebody tipped them off, at the time Trump went off the first tee, it would have been about an hour and 15 hour and 20 minutes before he got to that that spot.' That would have provided 'plenty of time,' he said, sketching out the possibility.

'The other possibility is that he's been surveilling the former president, and either a watching Mar-a- Lago as to when when he leaves, or actually physically following him and his vehicle and determining exactly where he went,' he said.

'The third possibility is he got lucky. I don't think that's the case. I think it's one of the first two, and neither one of them has good implications,' he concluded.

The criminal complaint in South Florida states that Routh was around the tree-line area for nearly 12 hours, based on cell phone data – information that could cut against the idea he had specialized help, or suggest he only had general information.

Routh is not believed to have any specialized training, and his far-fetched efforts to try to involve himself in Ukraine's defense against Russia appear to have been flat-out rejected. However there are indications of preparation and forethought, according to some of the initial evidence.

One relates to the backbacks containing ceramics which could provide protection from gunfire.

They were 'hanging strategically from the chain link fence ... as if to protect him when he's standing and he's using the chain link fence as a mount. And it looked to me like he was intending to take a shot at the former President as he drew parallel to him.'

One official investigating the case went even further – raising the possibility of a 'conspiracy' without identifying any leads about a potential accomplice.

'How does a guy from not here get all the way to Trump International, realize that the president – former president of the United States is golfing and is able to get a rifle in that vicinity? I think that's a question the FBI and Secret Service are laser focused on today,’ said Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder in a televised briefing Monday.

'Is this guy part of a conspiracy? Is he a lone gunman,’ Snyder wondered.

Among the questions that Swecker wants probed is whether the suspect set up his sniper's nest quickly or 'whether he's been planning this and he set it up, and scoped it out ahead of time.'

He previously raised concerns to DailyMail.com about excuses provided by former Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle following the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In the proceeding hours, a raft of officials have revealed information about security protocols for protecting the president.

'At this level that he is at right now, he's not the sitting president. If he was we would have had this entire golf course surrounded. But because he is not, the security is limited to the areas that the Secret Service deems possible,' said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw

'I would imagine that the next time he comes to a golf course, there’ll probably be a little bit more people around the perimeter. But the Secret Service did exactly what they should have done,' he said.

Said Swecker, 'I guarantee you, right now the FBI is going to muzzle that sheriff, and they're not going to talk much about details, because they're in the protection mode, particularly the prosecution. And the US Attorney's office is going to clamp down on the bureau. The bureau is going to clamp down on the sheriff, and we're not going to get a whole lot of detail, despite the fact that they know a lot,' he said.

#1  The position he chose seems pretty obvious -- at a fence line obscured by shrubbery, accessible to any tourist or passerby. WHEN he got into position, that's the rub and raises the question of inside help.

2 former FDNY chiefs arrested by feds: sources
[NY Post] Two retired New York City Fire Department fire chiefs were arrested by the feds early Monday for allegedly accepting more than $190,000 in bribes to allegedly help fast-track safety inspections and reviews, officials said.

Anthony Saccavino and Brian Cordasco, who worked in the FDNY’s Bureau of Fire Prevention, were nabbed on bribery, corruption and false statements offenses as part of the long-running corruption probe, according to an indictment unsealed in Manhattan federal court.

They are accused of "soliciting and accepting tens of thousands of dollars in bribe payments in exchange for providing preferential treatment to certain individuals and companies with matters pending before the FDNY" from 2021 through 2023.

"For nearly two years, Saccavino and Cordasco misused this authority for their own financial gain," the indictment alleged.

The arrests come after the two former chiefs had their homes raided by the FBI and city investigators back in February.

The FDNY’s Brooklyn headquarters was also searched at the same time.

At the time of the raids, both Saccavino and Cordasco allegedly lied to federal investigators to "conceal their involvement in the bribery scheme," according to the indictment.

The nearly two-year scheme involved roughly 30 different projects across the Big Apple — including fire alarm checks at apartment buildings, restaurants, bars and hotels, court filings state.

They have both been charged with conspiracy to solicit and receive a bribe, solicitation and receipt of a bribe, honest services wire fraud, conspiracy to commit honest services wire fraud, and making false statements.

Federal officials with the Southern District of New York will be holding a news conference on the arrests later Monday morning.

In 2023 interview, alleged Trump plotter decried hurdles to get foreign soldiers for Kyiv
[Semafor] When Ryan Routh spoke to Semafor on March 7, 2023, he was frustrated with the Ukrainian government for which he’d traveled around the world to support.

The Ukrainians, he complained, were being too rigid about admitting foreign soldiers of dubious qualifications, including a group of Afghan commandos who were facing skepticism and bureaucratic roadblocks in Kyiv.

"Ukraine is very often hard to work with. Many foreign soldiers leave after a week in Ukraine or must move from unit to unit to find a place they are respected and appreciated," he told Semafor. He’d been "yelled at" every time he suggested they tap Afghan commandos. "They’re afraid that anybody and everybody is a Russian spy," he said with frustration.

Now a man widely reported to be Routh, 58, is in custody for what the FBI described as an apparent attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

When Semafor talked to him, Routh was one of a wave of American volunteers in Ukraine, the self-appointed director of a group he’d started called the International Volunteer Center. He was, even by the standards of that frantic moment, a bit over the top, a Ukrainian involved in the effort told us at the time. But he was also, they said, authentically involved in the efforts to bring in foreign troops, and we quoted him in a story about the Afghan fighters.

On X, he frantically tweeted at President Volodymyr Zelenskyy with his ideas — for instance, "to use Independence Park to create a tent city of all the foreigners here in support to get thousands more foreign civilians to come and support Ukraine." Zelenskyy did not appear to respond.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said Routh’s "AK-47 style weapon with a scope" had been recovered at the scene, according to the Associated Press.

Routh was not the focus of our 2023 story, and we spoke with him for less than half an hour. He said he had spent 5 months in Ukraine working on his center, and when we spoke to him he was working to find a house in Pakistan to temporarily lodge Afghans hoping to fight in Ukraine. "The International legion recently tightened the hiring standard and has been firing many volunteer soldiers," he said. But he’d recently gotten the good news that one Afghan soldier, Reza, had been accepted by the Ukrainians.

Our conversations painted a picture of a man who had committed his life to the struggle for Ukraine — but whose own allies also viewed him with skepticism.

"I have had partners meeting with [the Ministry of Defense] every week and still have not been able to get them to agree to issue not one single visa for any of these soldiers," he complained. He’d pitched his idea widely, he said, but "got yelled at by most everyone."

When we spoke to him, he had transferred his frustration to the American government, and traveled to Washington to lobby.

"I am in Washington DC now to try and get some leadership here to help push the Ukrainians to take these soldiers," he said. "It all hinges on the US partners here encouraging Ukraine to use these men or us merely convincing them to use them."

Who in DC was he meeting?

UNESCO condemns looting of Sudan National Museum
[SUDANTRIBUNE] UNESCO on Tuesday strongly condemned reports that Sudan's National Museum has been looted by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) elements, highlighting a growing threat to the country's cultural heritage amid ongoing conflict.

Last week, Sudanese researchers called on South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit to help recover valuable artefacts looted from the National Museum in Khartoum under the RSF control and taken to South Sudan for sale.

The U.N. cultural agency said it has been closely monitoring the impact of the conflict on Sudan's heritage since it began in April 2023. Recent weeks have seen an alarming escalation, with reports of widespread looting of museums, heritage sites, and archaeological sites.

''UNESCO is particularly concerned by reports of looting at the National Museum of Sudan,'' the agency said in a statement. The museum, which houses important historical artefacts and archaeological collections, has been undergoing restoration coordinated by UNESCO with funding from Italy since 2019.

The agency also condemned reports of looting at the Khalifa House Museum and Nyala Museum, emphasizing that such acts constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law.

It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. ese army and allied forces repelled a fresh attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Friday, reclaiming a hospital in the southern part of the city. Fighting raged on in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur.

The festivities erupted anew after a major RSF offensive on Thursday, described as the fiercest yet on the northern, northeastern, and southern parts of the city. The RSF had recently bolstered its presence in the area with significant reinforcements.

Fierce battles unfolded between the attacking force and the army, backed by allied movements, in the al-Salam, al-Inqaz, and al-Wahda neighborhoods, with both sides employing a variety of weapons.

Local sources reported continued festivities on Friday morning, involving light weapons, in the south and east of El Fasher. The army successfully retook control of the southern hospital after besieging and storming the building.

The city also witnessed an exchange of artillery and aerial bombardment between the two sides. El Fasher has been embroiled in conflict for months, resulting in hundreds of casualties and displacing tens of thousands.

The spokesperson denied reports that the strike targeted weapons depots or that forces belonging to the Sudan Liberation Movement were present at the site.

's executive and the opposition-controlled Parliament, President Bassirou Diomaye has dissolved the National Assembly.

The move fulfills the wishes of the president's supporters, but it has sparked a heated debate among Senegalese citizens.

"It's IN THEIR INTEREST"
Assatou Diallo, a local observer, suggests the decision is strategic: ''If they dissolve the Assembly, it's because they see it serving their interests. But the real priority should be allowing the new government time to implement its program for the benefit of the people.''

A LEGAL MOVE, BUT CONTROVERSIAL
Supporters of the decision, like Seydou Sow, argue it's not only legal but necessary given the current political landscape. ''The dissolution of Parliament is a good decision considering the Assembly no longer aligns with the president's ambitions. He hasn't broken any laws,'' Sow said.

However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
the opposition views the action as a political maneuver. They've raised concerns about how quickly elections are being organized, questioning the legality of bypassing the controversial sponsorship law.

Devastating floods in Cameroon: Thousands Displaced, Infrastructure destroyed
[AFRICANEWS] In recent weeks, relentless heavy rains have battered Mayo Danay in the Far North region of Cameroon, with the city of Yagoua bearing the brunt of the unprecedented downpour.

The damage is extensive, with reports indicating at least ten fatalities, entire neighborhoods submerged, 185 primary schools and 13 high schools flooded, and the loss of over 1,100 livestock.

Residents are struggling to survive amidst the disaster, with many unable to meet basic needs such as food and shelter. Litassou Daniel, a local victim of the floods, described the dire situation:

"The rain took us by surprise in the middle of the night. Our kitchen utensils are gone—pots disappeared, and our sheep, chickens, and goats are nowhere to be found. I'm now in the water, trying to cope, but we can't even light a fire."

The humanitarian toll is staggering. Over 200,000 people have been affected, with 8,000 homes destroyed. Those displaced by the disaster have been relocated to temporary camps outside the city. However, the victims are urgently calling for more aid, as they have lost everything.

n interior minister has denied that a plane seized in Guinea-Bissau with 2.6 tons of cocaine on board came from Venezuela.

"That plane never touched Venezuelan soil, Diosdado Cabello told an audience attending a government event Wednesday.

The Bissau-Guinean judicial police said that the cocaine seizure on Saturday (Sep. 07) was carried out in close cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre—Narcotics, a European organization.

The crew of five, which included two Mexican nationals as well as citizens of Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil, were arrested, including the pilot.

Early media reports cited a security source saying the plane was from Mexico.

Venezuela's interior minister said his country "does not produce drugs" and that the world's biggest drugs consumer was the North American empire, most probably referencing the US.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Mystery as ancient American mountain town is ravaged by widespread illness and cancer amid sinister claim about cause
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Native American reservation that straddles Nevada and Idaho has been left reeling after an widespread outbreak of illness and cancer diagnoses.

For years the Duck Valley Indian Reservation believed the community's health and environmental troubles were linked to two Bureau of Indian Affairs buildings where fuel and herbicides were stored, the Associated Press reported.

But the recent discovery of decades-old documents has sent shock waves through the Shoshone-Paiute tribes and raised fears the US government played a greater role in contaminating the environment than they thought.

Owyhee is the sole town on the reservation, which is home to only around 1,800 residents. Yet horrifying figures show the tribal health clinic has logged more than 500 illnesses that could be cancer since 1992 — and is currently trying to break down the data to find the most common types.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in Native American communities. Native Americans are more likely to get liver, stomach, kidney, lung, colorectal and breast cancers than non-Hispanic white people, according to the CDC.

But the startling number of cases on this one reservation nestled between the deep Nevada canyons and flat Idaho plains has raised major concerns.

Earlier this year members of the tribes gathered to mourn yet another loss of a loved one to cancer. Marvin Cota, a highly regarded tribal chairman, lived a healthy life for decades. When he was finally diagnosed, it was too late.

He was one of many tribal members who worked in the BIA building before falling ill.

In 1985, at the now-abandoned irrigation shop, some 8,000 gallons of heating oil leaked from a pipeline next to the highway.

Samples taken from soil and floor drains around the building revealed a mix of the hazardous chemicals that were stored inside, including waste oil, arsenic, copper, lead and cadmium, along with the two herbicides that make up Agent Orange.

Racheal Thacker, a pesticides and solid waste technician with the tribes, said residents at the time were likely unaware of the dangers related to handling the chemicals stored there.

But resident Sherry Crutcher, who's late husband Robert worked in the BIA maintenance building across from the irrigation shop, recalled how he wore a uniform that reeked of chemicals after spraying willow trees and cleaning oil wells.

Crutcher, a teacher and former natural resources director for the tribes, said employees asked for cancer screenings. She claimed the BIA did the tests and told the workers the results were negative but didn’t share the records.

She said she asked her husband if workers had any protection and was always told no. He died in 2022 from an aggressive form of brain cancer at age 58, she said.

In 1995 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned employees from dumping gasoline, batteries and other substances onto the dirt floors of the buildings - and warned that it could result in soil contamination, threaten the groundwater supply endanger community members' health.

But many believed the damage had already been done and thought this was the main reason behind the outbreak of illness and cancer in their community.

Yet documents from 1997, obtained by AP, contain a BIA employee's recollection of using at least one Agent Orange herbicide about 20 years earlier.

The employee said they used Agent Orange to clear foliage from the canals running through the reservation - the same canals where Duck Valley residents swim and use for farming.

#2  There are some ethnic practices among native Americans that have problematic health consequences. One is the practice of incorporating wild plants into baths, beds and so forth. Another is where people go into heated tents and sweat for hours without enough liquids. There are others. Of course I'm not sure how many people do this and what the exact practice is (doubt anyone is) but this may account, at least to some degree, for high cancer rates.

Netanyahu says Israel will exact heavy price for Houthi attack
[GEO.TV] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that the Houthis in Yemen should have known that Israel would exact a heavy price after an attack on Israeli soil.

At a weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu also said that the current situation in northern Israel "will not continue," and that he was determined to do everything possible to return northern evacuees to their homes.

Israel drops leaflets on South Lebanon, orders residents to evacuate UPDATE: Leaflet drop not authorized per IDF - no evacuation order
[GEO.TV] Israel dropped leaflets over a Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. border village Sunday urging residents to leave, state-run media said, but Israel's military told AFP a brigade had taken the initiative without approval.

"The Israeli enemy dropped leaflets over Wazzani calling on those in the area and its surroundings to evacuate," the official National News Agency said, referring to a southern border village.

Wazzani Mayor Ahmed al-Mohammed shared with AFP a picture of the leaflets that showed a map of the region with the areas marked for evacuation in red.

The leaflet read in Arabic: "To all residents and refugees living in the area of the camps, Hezbollah is firing from your region. You must immediately leave your homes and head north of the Khiam region before 04:00pm (1300 GMT). Do not return to this area until the end of the war."

"Anyone present in this area after this time will be considered a terrorist," it added.

Hamas official says group has 'high ability' to continue Gaza war despite losses
[GEO.TV] A senior Hamas official told AFP on Sunday that the Palestinian resistance had ample resources to continue fighting Israel despite losses sustained over more than 11 months of genocide in Gaza.

"The resistance has a high ability to continue," Osama Hamdan told AFP during an interview in Istanbul.

"There were martyrs and there were sacrifices [...] but in return there was an accumulation of experiences and the recruitment of new generations into the resistance."

"The number of casualties [...] is much less than what is expected in a battle of this size, level and breadth," Hamdan said on Sunday.

India-Pakistan
Pakistan to secure fresh IMF bailout package on ''September 25''
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has said that the country will secure an extended International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme on September 25, The News reported on Sunday.

Speaking at the CFA Society of Pakistain's 21st Annual Excellence Awards, Aurangzeb expressed hope that it will be the country's final IMF programme. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
he warned that failure to sustain reforms might lead to a 25th programme.

His remarks come as Islamabad reached an agreement with the Washington-based lender on a $7 billion 37-month loan programme in July earlier this year. However,
denial ain't just a river in Egypt...
the future of the bailout package is subject to the approval of the Fund's executive board which is set to convene on September 25 with Pakistain included in its meeting agenda.

The country was required to secure external financing of $2 billion from bilateral and commercial lenders as a pre-requisite for the IMF board's approval.

It is to be noted that Pakistain owes $5 billion to Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
in the form of cash deposits, along with 4$ billion and $3 billion from China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), respectively.

This development has created a major hurdle for the ruling coalition, which has been scrambling to secure enough support to push the amendments aimed at making major changes to Pakistain's judicial and parliamentary systems through parliament.

According to sources, while opposition parties, including the Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf

The development came after a meeting of special parliamentary committee, held to discuss the package, ended without a consensus, despite several rounds of consultations.

Home Front: Politix
Day 2: Would-be Trump assassin ID'd as Ryan Routh, 58, of Hawaii: sources
See Day 1 articles here and here.
[NYPOST] Ryan Wesley Routh,
…aka Ryan Routh…
58, has been identified as the suspect who was arrested after allegedly pointing an AK-47 assault rifle at former President Trump while he golfed, according to law enforcement sources.

Routh frequently touted his do-gooder credentials and championed left-wing causes on social media.
His hair in one photo appears to be dyed blond, in another is half blue and half white. Very hep cat.
His LinkedIn shows that he attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, but relocated to Hawaii sometime around 2018.

Routh describes on LinkedIn as ''mechanically minded'' and enjoying ''ideas and invention and creative projects with artistic flair.''

Routh was spotted by Secret Service agents near the Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach with an AK-47, according to sources.

The agents opened fire on him, but he fled. Routh was later arrested on I-95 by local police.

Routh is the owner of Camp Box Honolulu, a shed building company with few positive reviews. While Routh hadn't posted on his X account in a year, he frequently criticized politicians including Trump, current President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The very model of probity....
, and celebrities like Bruno Mars.

Many of his replies are nonsensical, including one directed towards X's owner Elon Musk, in which he seemed to entertain purchasing a rocket from the billionaire. ''I would like to buy a rocket from you. I wish to load it with a warhead for Putin's Black Sea mansion bunker to end him. Can you give me a price please. It can be old and used as not returning,'' Routh wrote.
Sounds like he is not of sound mind.
Few democrats are of "sound mind."
Routh was a supporter of Vivek Ramaswamy and Nikki Haley
...Trump administration's former ambassador to the UN. First woman to serve as Governor of South Carolina, and the second Indian-American governor in the country, after Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. At the age of 39, Haley was the youngest governor in the U.S., a distinction formerly held by Jindal. She is a Republican, which really grates on the Dems...
, according to one of his posts in which he encouraged the Republican presidential candidates to continue their races. ''You cannot quit. Why. You must stay on the ballot to the end. You must fight. You must continue giving speeches and push all the way to election day no matter the election results. Do not give in. Join Nikki and keep working. Never give up,'' he wrote.

#1  "In a significant development, CNN reports that Trump's golf game on Sunday was an impromptu decision.

According to two sources familiar with the matter, the outing was a last-minute addition to Trump's schedule, which originally had no public events planned for the day.

This revelation adds a puzzling layer to the alleged assassination attempt.

It raises critical questions about how the suspect, identified by as Ryan Wesley Routh, could have known Trump would be on the course at that specific time.

The spontaneous nature of Trump's golf outing contradicts earlier speculations about the suspect's "high degree of planning," as suggested by former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.?

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: September 15, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:22 The Russian Armed Forces carried out an airstrike on the Nemyshlyansky district of Kharkov - 41 people were injured, one was killed, reported the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov. A direct hit of an air munition was recorded between the ninth and tenth floors of a 12-story residential building. Among the injured were four children. According to preliminary data, the strike on Kharkov was carried out from a SU-34 aircraft with a FAB-250 guided aerial bomb with an UMPK, the prosecutor's office clarified.

19:24 Ukraine's victory plan contains four main points and one additional one, Zelensky said in an interview with CNN: "I will personally talk to Joe Biden before the Peace Summit about how to strengthen us, so that we are in a strong position. Because diplomatic solutions are good if you are strong. Otherwise, Putin will not even take part in this. And I think that in other circumstances they will not be interested in stopping the war."

Zelensky said that he had prepared several points: "Four of them are the main ones. Plus one that we need after the war. I will share them with President Biden. It is about security, the geopolitical place of Ukraine, very strong military support for Ukraine. And about the fact that we should freely decide how to use this or that thing. It is about the decision on economic support." Zelensky separately noted that he is ready to accept proposals for the plan from Biden's team, provided that they strengthen Ukraine's position.

In addition, Zelensky said that Ukraine cannot equip even four of the 14 necessary brigades. According to the president, the reason for this is the delay in military aid from partners. "Everything is happening very slowly," he reproached his partners.

12:01 In the morning, Russians fired at a passenger car and a minibus in the Kutsurubskaya community of the Nikolaev region using FPV drones - two people were injured, said the head of the OVA Vitaly Kim.

09:28 At night, Russians struck Kharkiv with a KAB, the bomb fell into the ground on the territory of a hospital in the Kievsky district, damaging the glazing of the polyclinic building. As a result of the strike by two more KABs, a fire broke out in the building of an educational institution, the grass burned in the Kievsky district, no one was hurt, said the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

09:03 In Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed as a result of Russian shelling on September 14 - in Tsukurino. Three more people in the region were injured in the past 24 hours, reported OVA head Vadim Filashkin.

08:44 In the Kherson region over the past day, as a result of Russian shelling, two people were killed and seven were injured, reported the head of the OVA, Oleksandr Prokudin.

08:27 Air defense destroyed ten of 14 Shahed-type attack UAVs at night, the Air Force reported. In addition, at night, the Russians struck the Odessa region with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and one Kh-59 guided air missile, which was also shot down. Air defense operated in the Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Poltava and Nikolaev regions.

08:19 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of September 15:

  • personnel - about 633,800 (+1170) people,

  • tanks - 8680 (+6),

07:38 In Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region, two people were injured as a result of Russian shelling, reported the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.

01:53 The White House is working on a "substantial" aid package for Ukraine, which it plans to announce by the end of the month, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said. He also commented on aid delays, noting that this is not a question of political will, but of logistics. According to him, the US is literally taking 155 mm shells off the assembly line and delivering them to the front lines as quickly as they can.

00:14 Scholz said that he would not allow Ukraine to use German weapons for strikes deep into Russia, and this decision would remain in force even if other countries decided to lift their restrictions. He also once again emphasized that Germany would not send long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

00:05 Among Russia's allies, North Korea is the one that creates the most problems for Ukraine, Budanov said: "They supply a huge amount of artillery ammunition, which is critically important for Russia. After such deliveries, there is an escalation of hostilities." According to the head of the GUR, it takes eight to nine days from the moment a ship arrives from the DPRK for the ammunition to reach the front. Then, for two weeks, the Russians use it intensively.

"As the head of intelligence, I can say directly: the fact that they are supplying ballistic missiles is unpleasant for us, but these are not the volumes. But as for ammunition, this is critical for us," Budanov noted. He added that intelligence sees the entire route: the ship's arrival at the port, unloading, movement by rail, etc.

Mexican State Under Siege Amid Sinaloa Cartel Infighting
[Breitbart] A new wave of intense cartel fighting forced government officials to order the shutdown of school activities as locals locked themselves indoors in the state of Sinaloa. The measures follow several days of fighting as two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel clashed with minimal interference from federal police and military forces.

The Sinaloa Governor Ruben Rocha Moya sent multiple alerts and a video asking the public to remain calm and take precautions. In the video, Rocha Moya claimed that government police and military forces were working to minimize the effect of the cartel battles on the local public.

The violence began this week and followed weeks of tension as a faction loyal to recently captured Sinaloa Cartel boss Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada seeks revenge from the Chapitos faction for the betrayal and arrest of their leader. The Chapitos faction comprises the sons of jailed Sinaloa Cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman. It is believed that Los Chapitos blamed El Mayo for their father’s capture.

As Breitbart Texas reported, Joaquin Guzman Lopez allegedly called a secret meeting with El Mayo and some top politicians in late July. It was during that meeting that Guzman and his gunmen kidnapped El Mayo and put him on a plane that landed near El Paso, Texas, where U.S. authorities were waiting for them. Since then, both Guzman and El Mayo have been in U.S. custody awaiting trial.

The capture led to weeks of tension as locals awaited for war to break out between two of Mexico’s most powerful drug families. It is believed that the family of El Mayo had been quietly building up their forces before striking.

#2  Russians are saying the "AK" was in fact an SKS, which shoots the same round as the AK. SKSs are s'posed to be cheaper than a semi automatic AK. Some are even used as hunting rifles.

#3  From Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin's Live Journal account from a commenter:

However, according to a firearms expert, the photos released at a press conference on Sunday show an SKS-type rifle with a polymer stock, equipped with an AK-style magazine for 7.62 mm rounds.

“The weapon in question was misidentified as an AK-type rifle, likely due to the distinctively curved magazine and visually similar gas system,” N.R. Jensen-Jones, director of the consultancy Armament Research Services, told The Post.

Minor modifications can be made to the SKS rifle to permit the use of AK Magazines. Shooter's weapon appears to have an off-set scope and mount which permits use of 10 round, top loading stripper clips.

Graphic (now deleted) was harvested from a Washington Post story https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/09/15/trump-golf-course-gunman-weapon/

Full sized WAPO photo at above link shows a rather long scope (possibly Russian) with strange white tape or white pad at eye relief end. Does NOT appear to be a professional scope mounting job.

#16  It would be hard to hit a target at 300 yards with an SKS even with a scope. The SKS rifle is prone to “slamfires” – or accidental discharges of the rifle without pulling trigger.
The issue of slamfires is especially problematic for collectors which is why special care is an important reminder. I have observed this myself. Depending on where it was manufactured the accuracy is debatable. he SKS rifle is effective at a firing range of 440 yards. I have on, a Chinese made. Maybe it's because it's Chinese but it's not very accurate beyond 200 yards. I would like to know what version this rifle is.

#20  Curious that the suspect has no visible wounds on face, head, or upper body given that the USSS agents ahead of Trump fired four rounds at a rifle barrel sticking out of a chain link fence. The fence at any angle of shooter to target would seem to have had a significant likelihood of some shrapnel efect even if the agents missed, adding more discredit to the mythic reputation of USSS shooting skills?

#22  Are you sure about that Grom? In any event, a more puzzling aspect of this now seems to be what the map above shows: noting the vehicle location, coupled with the 12 hour onsite of the phone at the sniper location, coupled with the stolen license plates on the perps truck which was likely parked for the 12 hour period, all of which suggests that NO ONE from the USSS detail/local LE drove the perimeter of the golf course fence line for even a cursory screening once Trump made the decision to play golf. Even a simple drive-by of the fence line street should have included license plate checks on parked vehicles immediately proximate to the fence-line. The stolen tags would then have registered, dismounted examination of the vehicle and a VIN run that would reveal the sniper's actual ID, and the ground search would reveal sniper location hours before Trump was even on the course. If my suppositions are accurate this is unbelievable incompetence for the USSS detail?

#24  [Wayback machine] When I was last there (2018) NoMo the island was fed by 3 or 4, 4 lane bridges. The primary road serving the island residents was generally a quiet 2 lane route between block walls or mangrove swamps. High traffic areas serving the bridges broadened to 4 lanes for turn lane or commercial access. When P.Trump was in residence, common traffic was rerouted away from him by city police, or screened by sheriff's deputies, with dogs. They also did the preliminary vehicle searches and alerted the mobile SS unit for background checks when a dog triggered or a driver was suspicious. SS was in place 'near' the golf course gates which were manned by private security.

Now, there may not be roving patrols or perimeter monitoring other than private security in golf carts, inside the fence. Abandoned vehicles on the roadside may get a tow sticker unless they are in a suggested parking area for shore fishers (or photogs). Likely no plates are checked.

Women assaults in Cox's Bazar: What do we know so far?
[Dhaka Tribune] A disturbing series of videos that surfaced on social media has revealed harassment and assault against women in Cox’s Bazar.
Alternate spelling is Cox’s Bazaar.
The footage, posted on September 11, captures multiple incidents in which a group of men, led by one Mohammad Farokul Islam, are seen targeting women at popular tourist spots, including the beach and Lal Dighi areas.

The boldness of the attackers, who even bragged about their actions on Facebook, has shocked the public and shown the slow response from law enforcement.

WHAT HAPPENED?
The incidents came to attention after at least seven different videos surfaced on social media.

In each video, a group of men, led by Farokul, harass and physically abuse women in various parts of Cox’s Bazar.

In one of the videos, Farokul, armed with a stick, forces a woman to do sit-ups on the beach while holding her ears, verbally abusing her throughout the ordeal.

In another video, a woman sitting on a beach chair late at night was approached by the group.

The men aggressively questioned her reasons for being on the beach at that hour, ignoring her pleas that she was merely a tourist and had done nothing wrong. Despite her explanations, she was forced to leave.

Another woman was seen pleading with coppers near Sugandha Beach, asking them to help her retrieve her mobile phone, which the group had stolen.

In a separate instance, a woman is seen being repeatedly beaten with a stick by Farokul as she begs him to stop.

The group also intercepted a rickshaw carrying two women, dragging them out of the vehicle.

When the women attempted to escape, Farokul and his associates chased them with sticks, further escalating the violence.

VIRAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA
The perpetrators themselves posted these videos on Facebook, bragging about their actions.

Farokul and his group used social media to justify their assaults, labeling the women as hookers and claiming that those criticizing their actions were complicit in immoral activities.

Farokul further suggested in his posts that the local administration was supporting their actions, although no official confirmation of this has been made.

At one point, Farokul deactivated his Facebook account, but it was soon reactivated, and most of the incriminating videos were deleted.

Despite this, several posts remain where he attempted to provide justifications for his group’s behavior.

POLICE ACTION
Despite clear evidence circulating on social media, local law enforcement did not immediately take action against Farokul and his group.

Abul Kalam, assistant superintendent of the Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police, initially said that no formal complaint had been lodged regarding the incidents, though he confirmed that they were aware of reports involving "third-gender individuals" being harassed on the beach.

Only after significant public outcry did Cox’s Bazar District Police launch an operation to apprehend Farokul.

He was arrested on Friday, and a case was subsequently filed against him at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model cop shoppe.

Sri Lanka
Sri Lankans' fury forced the powerful Rajapaksa clan out. Now its heir is running for president
[DHAKATRIBUNE] When an uprising ousted Sri Lanka's president, many saw it as the end of his powerful family's hold on the island nation after more than 12 years of rule.

Now, as Sri Lanka prepares to elect a new leader, Namal Rajapaksa is running for president. The 38-year-old is the son of former prime minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the nephew of the ousted president Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Namal is presenting himself as an agent of change, but many see his bid for presidency as an attempt by the controversial political dynasty to regain power.

By mid-2022, the clan's political career seemed in ruins. Some of its members were forced into hiding in military camps after angry protesters stormed their residences. Others simply gave up their seats in the government as people blamed them for hurtling the country of more than 20 million people into an economic crisis.

Two years later, the family — shunned and pushed to political wilderness — is trying make a comeback via the Rajapaksa heir apparent who is styling himself as someone who could deliver Sri Lanka into a prosperous future.

But for Namal, it's more than just a political choice — it's a deeply personal one. He wants to shed the widespread allegations that the Rajapaksa clan ran the country as a family business that led to the economy crashing in 2022 — as well as the guilty verdict on corruption charges against them.

''The corruption charges are not something common to my family or to myself. If you look at all politicians in this country or in the world, including our region — all have been accused of being corrupt,'' Namal told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named (AP) on a recent afternoon. ''People will understand, you know, because if you look at the current stage, everyone is blaming each other.''

Sri Lanka was once an economic hope in South Asia, before it plunged into an economic crisis in 2022 when unsustainable debt and the Covid-19 pandemic led to a severe shortage of essentials. The crisis morphed into a popular uprising, with angry street protesters taking over the president's and prime minister's offices and other key buildings, forcing Gotabaya to flee the country and later resign.

Many blamed the Rajapaksas.

The family still had a big parliamentary majority, and voted Ranil Wickremesinghe to serve the remainder of the presidential term. Wickremesinghe ensured them protection in return for their support to pass laws in Parliament, enabling the clan to mark a return in politics.

''We didn't run away, we never bravely ran away. It's just that some people thought we were hiding,'' said Namal.

Namal's prospects for a political comeback appear grim, as the main contest appears to be between three other candidates: Wickremesinghe, the parliamentary opposition leader and a left-leaning politician with a powerful alliance.

Alan Keenan, senior consultant on Sri Lanka at the International Crisis Group, said the younger Rajapaksa's bid for the presidency is a test run that would establish ''his position as the heir apparent'' of the political dynasty.

''I think they (the Rajapaksas) know that Namal will not win. But his candidature effectively reasserts the family's ownership of the party,'' Keenan said.

The Rajapaksa family has been a mainstay in Sri Lankan politics for decades. They influenced nearly everything — from bureaucracy to courts, police, business and sports.

Namal's father was a prime minister and then a two-term president from 2005 to 2015. Even though Mahinda Rajapaksa was adored by the country's majority Buddhist Sinhalese for defeating the ethnic Tamil separatists after a 26-year bloody civil war, allegations of human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
violations and corruption led to his defeat in 2015.

The family, however, returned more powerful four years later, when Mahinda's brother was elected president. Gotabaya Rajapaksa whipped up majority Buddhist Sinhalese sentiments after the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings, blamed on Islamic krazed killer groups, killed 290 people.

But the family's popularity quickly eroded under a tanking economy and alienation among ethnic Tamils, Moslems and other minorities.

With hopes to reinvent himself as a young, modern leader removed from his family's tainted past, Namal's efforts mirror that of his father, who still enjoys considerable support among some voters who credit him for crushing the Tamil separatists.

Like his father, Namal wears the trademark outfit that highlights his Buddhist Sinhalese culture, with a maroon scarf around his neck, a sarong and a white robe. During campaigns he can be seen touching his father's feet in reverence, a practice most locals consider noble. He is also promising to free the island nation from its debt crisis, create more jobs and eradicate corruption by digitizing the administrative systems.

...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
, revealed on Saturday sensitive information regarding the movement of American naval military vessels.

In a televised speech this evening on the occasion of preparations for the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday anniversary, Sayyid Abdul-Malik said that "the American aircraft carrier ’Roosevelt’ was forced to leave the region through smuggling routes."

Abdul-Malik al-Houthi added that the carrier Roosevelt, despite its importance as a mobile military base on the seas, returned by smuggling ways through the Indian Ocean, and did not dare to enter the Red Sea.

He explained that the escape of the American aircraft carrier, away from the Red Sea, "is considered one of the most striking evidence that confirms the effectiveness of the Yemen front."

Last Thursday, the United States announced the withdrawal of the aircraft carrier Roosevelt and the destroyer ’Daniel Inouye’ towards the Indian Ocean coming from its location in the Gulf of Oman.

In his speech, Sayyid Abdul-Malik al-Houthi confirmed that the Yemeni front is continuing the battle of support for the Paleostinian people with all effectiveness and influence.

He pointed out that Yemen was subjected to more than 700 raids and naval bombardments, but that did not help the Americans limit, deter, or stop Yemen’s military operations at sea, among them were 24 raids last week that targeted Taiz, Ibb, Saada, and Hodeidah provinces.

19:44 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Pokrovsk direction: battles on the approaches to Mirnograd and the liberation of most of Ukrainsk.

- In the Pokrovsk direction, battles are underway on the approaches to Mirnograd, where the enemy has organized a new line of defense to the south of the city. At the same time, the Russian Armed Forces managed to break through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the vicinity of Ukrainsk and occupy most of the city.

- In Grodovka, Ukrainian formations hold positions on the left bank of the Zhuravka River. The defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area relies on a network of fortifications to the north of the settlement, located above it relative to the terrain. This allows the enemy to conduct visual observation of the approaches to the village.

– South of Nikolaevka, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a counterattack in the direction of Krutoy Yar in order to prevent the Russian Armed Forces from consolidating their positions in the settlement. Russian units retreated to the forest belts south of the settlement, where they regrouped.

– Considering that the enemy positions in Krutoy Yar are practically half-encircled, we should expect a resumption of attacks by Russian troops in this area in the near future.

– The situation in the Novogrodovka area remains stably tense. According to available information, Ukrainian formations are refraining from counterattacks and are preparing for defense on the Lysovka-Vyshneve line.

– Fighting continues in the area of ??the Novogrodovskaya No. 2 mine waste heap; there is currently no information about the status of the facility.

- To the south, units of the Russian Armed Forces are fighting in Selidovo and its environs. The line of combat runs along Gogol and Krinichnaya streets, to the west of which the Ukrainian Armed Forces have organized a line of defense in a block of multi-story buildings.

– To the southwest of Mikhaylovka, fighting continues in the area of ??the previously destroyed railway bridge. Neither side, judging by objective control footage, has been able to establish control over the railway line.

– The success of Russian troops in this area will allow them to secure the southern flank of the Russian Armed Forces group fighting for Selidovo.

– Attack aircraft of the Russian Armed Forces pushed through the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces northwest of Ukrainsk, reaching the rear of the enemy troops defending the city. After that, under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, in the course of a series of attacks, they drove the enemy out of most of the settlement.

– Separate units of Ukrainian formations are still defending the western outskirts of the city and the waste heap of the Ukraine mine.

– Russian troops are methodically “knocking out” key objects of the enemy’s transport infrastructure in Pokrovsk and its environs. On the evening of September 13, the Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike that destroyed several spans of the “Eastern Overpass” – a key transport artery through which the Mirnograd garrison was supplied.

– Together with the earlier destruction of the “Mirnograd overpass”, this creates a threatening situation for the supply system of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the entire agglomeration.

13:07 Maryinka – Maksimilyanovka.

Positional military actions in the Maryinka area. The Russian Armed Forces were able to advance about 200 meters towards the center of Maksimilyanovka and take up new positions in residential areas. The forward position of the Russian Armed Forces is under fire from an FPV drone of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

12:17 Frontline summary as of the morning of 09/15/2024

- Zaporizhzhya Front. Positional battles continue. No significant changes in LBS.

– Donetsk Front. The Russian Armed Forces continue to improve their positions on the approaches to Ugledar. There are battles for the mines; without their capture, further advancement is unlikely.

Russian troops are semi-encircling Ukrainsk. The settlement of Zhelannoye Pervoye has been liberated. Fighting continues in Dzerzhinsk.

- Chasovoyarsk direction. Russian troops were able to advance from the northern flank along the Seversky Donets-Donbass channel. In the city itself, fighting continues, without significant changes.

- Khar'kov Front. Fighting continues in Volchansk and in the area of ??Glubokoe. No changes in LBS.

- Kursk region. Ukrainian troops have consolidated their positions in the area of the settlement Veseloye, Glushkovsky district. As was said earlier, the enemy used the only opportunity to seize the initiative in this area - to break through the border in a new place. And although the scale of penetration into our territory is not so serious, Ukrainian troops will in any case try to expand their zone of control.

11:55 Around 10.50 Moscow time stopped another attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense systems on duty.

11:20 Aerial reconnaissance discovered a Ukrainian Armed Forces ammunition supply vehicle moving towards the firing position of a 122mm towed D-30 howitzer.

As a result, we observe their destruction by Russian artillery fire, followed by the ignition and detonation of ammunition. The action takes place in the area of ??the settlement of Bayrak in the Khar'kov region.

10:51 In Khar'kov arrivals.

Also, in a number of regions of Ukraine, the traditional raid of "Geraniums" is underway.

10:12 During the past night stopped an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Air defense systems on duty destroyed 29 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, of which: 15 were shot down over the territory of the Bryansk region; five over the Kursk region; four over the Smolensk region; two over the Oryol region and one each over the territories of the Belgorod, Kaluga, and Rostov regions.

09:51 Frontline soldier reports:

Ukrainian.

The battles for the slag heap are still going on. The city itself is being cleaned up. In a couple of days there will be a video of Russian flags.

09:22 Statement by the head of the press center of the "Center" group

Troop Group "Center"continuescarry out combat missions in the area where a special military operation is being conducted.

– The group’s units continued to advance into the depths of the enemy’s defenses, defeating the formations of the 59th, 150th Mechanized, 68th, 142nd infantry, 95th Airborne Assault brigades and the 109th Territorial Defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Tsukurino, Selidovo, Mikhailovka, Grodovka and Novoekonomicheskoe.

– Three counterattacks by assault groups of the 150th Mechanized, 142nd Infantry and 25th Airborne Brigades were repelled.

– The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 560 servicemen, two Kozak combat armored vehicles, and three pickups. During the counter-battery battle, an M-777 howitzer, two Msta-B howitzers, a 152mm 2S3 Akatsiya self-propelled artillery unit, and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed.

08:45 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Kursk direction: beginning of the battle for Lyubimovka and defense of Vesyoloye situation as of 20:00 on September 14, 2024

- In the Kursk direction, Russian troops have reached the outskirts of Lyubimovka and Pokrovskoe during the counteroffensive. At the same time, the enemy is attacking the flank of the Russian Armed Forces in order to slow the pace of advance.

– In the south of the Glushkovsky district, fighting has been going on for more than a day on the southern outskirts of Veseloye, where Ukrainian forces reached after overcoming the barriers on the border several days earlier.

The previously occupied Novy Put is used by the enemy as a transit point, where assault groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces dismount for further entry into battle near Vesyoloye.

- In the Korenevsky district, the advanced assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces have reached the outskirts of Pokrovskoe and Lyubimovka, in the western part of which clashes are taking place. The enemy is transferring reinforcements in order to slow down the advance of Russian troops.

The advancing units of the Russian Armed Forces are supported by artillery and aviation, which regularly "knock out" the Ukrainian Armed Forces' fire support assets. Thus, in the Dar'ino area, the VKS aviation destroyed an enemy self-propelled gun at a firing position in a forested area.

– The liberation of Lyubimovka will create a threat to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ communications running through the 38K-030 highway. In this case, the enemy group in the Korenevo area may face a severe supply shortage.

– The information spreading about the liberation of Darino has not yet been confirmed, although at the current rate of advancement, the Russian Armed Forces should soon be expected to reach the northern outskirts of the village. The Snagost River, which acts as a natural boundary, presents a difficulty.

– In the Sudzhansky district, the Russian Armed Forces carried out an attack on Borki: after air strikes, assault groups entered the village and began to destroy the firing points of the Ukrainian formations.

At the moment, the enemy has been driven out of positions at least in the north-eastern part of the settlement. At this vector of advance of Russian troops, it is possible to assume that neighboring Spalynoye is already under the control of the Russian Armed Forces.

08:00 Honored Artist of Russia Yulia Chicherina and soloists of the front-line creative brigade of the song and dance ensemble of the Leningrad Military Districtperformedwith a concert for servicemen of the units of the "North" group of troops in the rear area of the SVO zone.

– On an improvised stage, the artists performed an open-air concert, the basis of the musical program of which consisted of songs with patriotic themes and well-known folk songs.

– The concert lasted more than an hour, and the servicemen asked for many songs to be performed as an encore.

– The servicemen thanked the artists and musicians with a deafening ovation.

– After the concert, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Yulia Chicherina and the soloists of the Leningrad Military District front-line creative brigade had a warm conversation with the servicemen of the North group of troops.

'They Surrendered Like Girls' - Alaudinov Refused to Save Chechens from Ukrainian Captivity
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Chechens are fanatics, whether uniformed or not.

[Regnum] The fighters of the Akhmat special forces unit committed a shameful act by voluntarily surrendering to Ukrainian troops, and their right to life after captivity is questionable.
“Their job is to be cannon fodder. How dare they try to survive the experience!”
The unit's commander, deputy head of the main military-political department of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Apti Alaudinov, stated this in a video message published on September 15 on the Telegram channel.

Alaudinov commented on videos of captured Chechen fighters, in which they ask their relatives to contact the command so that they could be exchanged in the future. According to the general, these words made him furious, since voluntary captivity has always been an unforgivable shame for a Chechen, which can only be washed away with blood and personal sacrifice.

“Those of you who voluntarily surrendered into captivity, how great must be your delusion when you think that I would intercede, ask, or do anything to get you out of this captivity,” Alaudinov said.

He demanded that those who "surrendered like girls" no longer try to contact him and advised the Ukrainian side to keep them. Alaudinov added that he did not consider such fighters worthy of life and did not understand how they were going to live after captivity.

According to the general, there are different ways to end up in captivity: by voluntarily laying down arms or by being taken prisoner by the enemy after being seriously wounded or concussed. Those who were captured wounded, he emphasized, are rescued by the Akhmat special forces "by any means necessary."

"THEY FIGHT LIKE LIONS"
On August 12, Alaudinov said that the Ukrainian side was spreading false reports about fighters from the Akhmat special forces and the Aida unit allegedly surrendering in the Kursk region. He emphasized that the fighters were “fighting like lions” and that none of them had surrendered.

The next day, the general reported that after an unequal battle, the enemy had captured five fighters from the Akhmat-Chechnya detachment: three riflemen and two signalmen. He added that no one from Akhmat itself had been captured, and asked that rumors about the alleged "mass surrender" of fighters be told to "the old ladies on the farm."

EXCHANGE OF PRISONERs
On September 14, Russia and Ukraine held a prisoner exchange in the "103 for 103" format with the mediation of the UAE. The UAE Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to both sides for their cooperation and specified that this was the eighth prisoner exchange since the beginning of the year with the mediation of Abu Dhabi. It was noted that a total of 1,994 prisoners were released.

The Russian servicemen transferred by the Ukrainian side, previously captured in the Kursk region, have arrived in Belarus. They will be delivered to their homeland, where they will undergo treatment and rehabilitation in hospitals.

Earlier, on August 24, Russia returned 115 servicemen from Ukrainian captivity, including conscripts who were captured in the border areas of the Kursk region. In exchange, 115 prisoners of war of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were handed over to the Ukrainian side.

The case of the terrorist attack in Crocus is growing with new defendants
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] New defendants may appear in the case of the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region. This is evidenced by court materials reviewed by TASS.

According to the publication, the investigation has reason to believe that, if left at large, Muhammad Zoir Sharipzoda (an individual included in the Russian Federation list of terrorists and extremists) may hide from the preliminary investigation bodies and the court, continue to engage in criminal activity, and also come into contact with other unidentified accomplices in the crime.

The court also did not rule out that the defendant could destroy evidence that had not yet been collected, according to the court ruling on the arrest of Tajikistan native Sharipzoda, the 11th defendant in the criminal case. He was detained on April 2. By court order, he was arrested and sent to a pretrial detention facility.

The accused himself stated that he partially admits guilt and is ready to cooperate with the investigation.

As reported by Regnum news agency, a new witness in the case of the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in early August testified to investigators and confirmed that the arrested Muhammad Sharipzoda was involved in the crime.

One of the defendants, Yakubdzhoni Yusufzoda (listed by Rosfinmonitoring as a terrorist and extremist), attempted to destroy evidence of the investigation before his arrest. Several days before the attack on Crocus City Hall, the defendant used his bank card to transfer money to an accomplice to provide accommodation for other defendants in the case. Yusufzoda transferred part of the funds to one of the perpetrators after the incident in Krasnogorsk, Moscow Region.

Terrorists attacked Crocus City Hall on the evening of March 22. The gunmen opened fire on visitors and then set fire to the concert hall. As a result of the terrorist attack, 144 people were killed and 551 were injured.

Russian Foreign Ministry says there are no illusions in the fight against rampant censorship in the US
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia has no illusions that relevant international structures will condemn the rampant censorship in the United States, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on September 15, whose words are quoted on the agency’s website.

“We have no illusions that the rampant censorship in the United States will receive a proper assessment from the relevant international structures whose activities are directed by Washington,” she said.

According to her, Moscow qualifies their silence as approval of such practices and actual complicity in the tyranny committed against Russian media.

Zakharova noted that the current American administration is trying to justify the unprecedented repressions against Russian media by the fight against their "interference" in domestic political affairs. In essence, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized, this is yet another commissioned campaign, a "witch hunt."

“A specially cultivated atmosphere of general fear and spy mania allows the ruling circles in the United States to manipulate public opinion and protect the population from any information that is inconvenient for them,” the diplomat added.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 13, the US Treasury Department announced the introduction of sanctions against the media group Rossiya Segodnya and its head Dmitry Kiselyov. The department issued a general license requiring the completion of financial transactions with the media group by November 13.

At the same time, on September 4, the US already imposed sanctions against the media group Rossiya Segodnya, RIA Novosti, Sputnik, as well as the RT TV channel and Margarita Simonyan. Washington explained this decision by the fact that the blacklisted media outlets were allegedly involved in interference in the US presidential elections.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States, Britain and Canada had launched a diplomatic campaign to urge allies and partners around the world to join the fight against the threat posed by RT.

Commenting on the introduction of new sanctions against Russian media, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov stated that the American authorities are trying to shift responsibility for their own mistakes made during the electoral struggle onto Moscow.

Zakharova: US repressions against Russian media will not go unanswered

Moscow will not leave Washington's prohibitive actions against Russian media unanswered. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“The current American administration is trying to justify the unprecedented repressions against Russian media in an extremely cynical manner by citing the fight against their ‘interference’ in domestic political affairs,” says Zakharova’s official commentary, published on the MFA website.

According to the diplomat, the US has launched a commissioned campaign against Russian media, trying on the role of “guardian” of the integrity of democratic processes.

At the same time, Washington has finally trampled on the international obligations it has undertaken to ensure pluralism of opinions and has declared war on freedom of speech throughout the world, Zakharova pointed out.

“We have no illusions that the rampant censorship in the United States will receive a proper assessment from the relevant international structures whose activities are directed by Washington,” the representative of the Foreign Ministry added.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs qualifies the silence of international organizations as approval of discrimination against Russian media and complicity in it, Zakharova noted.

“The actions of the American administration will not go unanswered,” the commentary concluded.

Gaza: Death toll surges to 41,182
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The health ministry in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
said on Saturday that the Israeli occupation army committed four massacres in different areas of the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours, killing and injuring at least 219 civilians, while a large number of victims are still under the rubble of bombed buildings or lying on roads.

In a statement, the health ministry said that the Israeli army killed and injured a large number of civilians in different areas of Gaza during the past 24 hours, but at least 64 deaders and 155 maimed citizens were transported to hospitals.

Europe
Germany's quiet arms embargo on Israel: most requests for arms remain unanswered, report
[Ynet] Germany has refused Israeli requests for arms but agrees to sell weapons systems to Qatar, the Built newspaper reported on Sunday. The paper claims a quiet arms embargo on Israel was in place. Israel asked to purchase thousands of tank shells from the government in Berlin last year but has had no response.

In the report, the Bild said that the German government approved the sale of over 100 million euros worth of weapons to Qatar. "Military procurement abroad is especially important for the Jewish state which is fighting on several fronts against the Hamas and Hezbollah terror groups," Build wrote.

Officials involved in the matter said nearly all of Israel's requests for arms sales since the start of the war, have been delayed and only a fraction have been approved. There has been no decision to refuse arms sales but the requests are being stalled for a long time, giving the sense that there is a de facto embargo in place. The delays stem from internal debate between the German Chancellor's office and the National Security Council, which are in support of the arms sales to Israel and the Foreign Office which opposes them.
If the chancellor is serious about supporting Israel, it is his duty to overrule the foreign office, which is subordinate to him. If he allows the foreign office to carry on refusing, then he tacitly supports their position.
...Germany's arms sales to Israel have dropped dramatically. In 2023, sales amounted to over 300 million euros and in 2024, they dropped on only 14 million. This comes as international pressure on Israel increases over the civilian casualties in Gaza.

#1  There's no "embargo". The tank shells in question are brand new and are currently produced. Not only the Bundeswehr has placed a big order, also Ukraine (delivery not possible before end of 2024 at the earliest) and the UK want them badly. Other countries (including the U.S.) have shown interest, so has Israel. The stuff just isn't available right now.

Rheinmetall and Israel's Elbit Systems have already presented an automated 155mm L52 caliber wheeled howitzer in live firing at the beginning of March. The demonstration of the new system took place at the Shivta firing range in southern Israel in front of high-ranking guests from the British, German, Dutch and Hungarian armed forces, writes Rheinmetall in a statement. However, it is not clear from this whether the German group's tube weapon was already used in the test.

Rheinmetall and Elbit Systems (Israel) have reportedly signed a cooperation agreement last year to develop, produce and market a fully automated European 155mm wheeled howitzer system.

So there's no "stalling requests" at all. Bild reports nonsense.

Qatar btw. has nothing to do with it. They ordered completely different weapons.

China-Japan-Koreas
In Bid For Global Dominance, Beijing Builds EV Factories In Africa
Why, sure. I'd drive an African built Chinese car with an exploding battery, Wouldn't anyone?
[ZeroHedge] China has started to build factories across Africa to manufacture electric vehicles, a strategy market analysts say will likely flood the world with cheap EVs and allow Chinese companies to dominate the global automobile industry far into the future.

Automakers under the communist regime are already benefiting from huge subsidies, resulting in dramatic increases in production and allowing China to severely undercut prices of EVs made elsewhere, including in the United States.

One study shows Beijing has given China’s EV manufacturers at least $231 billion in state aid over 15 years, from 2009 until the end of 2023.

The automobile sector in mainland China has been the largest in the world measured by unit production since 2008, said JATO Dynamics, a global leader in automotive data, analysis, and intelligence.

Automakers from the globe’s second-biggest economy already account for more than half of the EVs produced in the world, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

“China wants to maintain this advantage by adding Africa to its quiver but it knows there are factors beyond its control. For example, Chinese-built EVs currently get hit by 100 percent tax when sold in America,” said Layton Beard, an analyst at South Africa’s Automobile Association.

“I’ve never seen such proactive moves in the global motor vehicle industry as I’m seeing from the Chinese; it seems like they’re up to something new every week.”
"They're inscrutable!"
In May, U.S. President Joe Biden announced that tariffs on Chinese EVs would increase from 25 percent to 100 percent.

“With extensive subsidies and non-market practices leading to substantial risks of overcapacity, China’s exports of EVs grew by 70 percent from 2022 to 2023—jeopardizing productive investments elsewhere,” according to a statement from the White House.

“A 100 percent tariff rate on EVs will protect American manufacturers from China’s unfair trade practices.”

In July, the European Union raised duties on Chinese-made EVs to almost 50 percent, as sales figures showed cars from the East are becoming popular throughout Europe because they’re much cheaper.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
NATO Chairman Backs Ukraine Long-Range Missile Strikes on Russia
[Breitbart] The head of NATO’s military committee said Saturday that Ukraine has the solid legal and military right to strike deep inside Russia to gain combat advantage – reflecting the beliefs of a number of U.S. allies – even as the Biden administration balks at allowing Kyiv to do so using American-made weapons.

“Every nation that is attacked has the right to defend itself. And that right doesn´t stop at the border of your own nation,” said Adm. Rob Bauer, speaking at the close of the committee’s annual meeting, also attended by U.S. Gen. CQ Brown, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Bauer, of Netherlands, also added that nations have the sovereign right to put limits on the weapons they send to Ukraine. But, standing next to him at a press briefing, Lt. Gen. Karel Rehka, chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, made it clear his nation places no such weapons restrictions on Kyiv.

“We believe that the Ukrainians should decide themselves how to use it,” Rehka said.

Their comments came as U.S. President Joe Biden is weighing whether to allow Ukraine to use American-provided long-range weapons to hit deep into Russia. And they hint at the divisions over the issue.

Biden met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Friday, after this week´s visit to Kyiv by their top diplomats, who came under fresh pressure to loosen weapons restrictions. U.S. officials familiar with discussions said they believed Starmer was seeking Biden’s approval to allow Ukraine to use British Storm Shadow missiles for expanded strikes in Russia.

Biden’s approval may be needed because Storm Shadow components are made in the U.S. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to share the status of private conversations, said they believed Biden would be amenable, but there has been no decision announced yet.

Providing additional support and training for Ukraine was a key topic at the NATO chiefs’ meeting, but it wasn’t clear Saturday if the debate over the U.S. restrictions was discussed.

Many of the European nations have been vigorously supportive of Ukraine in part because they worry about being the next victim of an empowered Russia.

At the opening of the meeting, Czech Republic President Petr Pavel broadly urged the military chiefs gathered in the room to be “bold and open in articulating your assessments and recommendations. The rounder and the softer they are, the less they will be understood by the political level.”

The allies, he said, must “take the right steps and the right decisions to protect our countries and our way of life.”

The military leaders routinely develop plans and recommendations that are then sent to the civilian NATO defense secretaries for discussion and then on to the nations’ leaders in the alliance.

The U.S. allows Ukraine to use American-provided weapons in cross-border strikes to counter attacks by Russian forces. But it doesn´t allow Kyiv to fire long-range missiles, such as the ATACMS, deep into Russia. The U.S. has argued that Ukraine has drones that can strike far and should use ATACMS judiciously because they only have a limited number.

Ukraine has increased its pleas with Washington to lift the restrictions, particularly as winter looms and Kyiv worries about Russian gains during the colder months.

Advanced Yemeni hypersonic missile strike hits Tel Aviv, causing mass panic across Israel
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i Armed Forces carried out a qualitative military operation targeting a military target of the Israeli enemy in the Yaffa area in occupied Paleostine.

" The missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of Allah Almighty, carried out a qualitative military operation targeting an "Israeli" enemy military objective in the area of Yaffa in occupied Paleostine," Yemen’s military spokesperson Brigadier-General Yahya Sare’e said in a statement

According to the spokesperson Brigadier-General Yahya Sare’e, the operation was carried out with a new hypersonic ballistic missile that managed in reaching its target, and the enemy’s defenses systems failed to intercept and confront.

"It crossed a distance of 2040 km in 11 and a half minutes, and caused a state of fear and panic among the Zionists, as more than two million Zionists headed to shelters for the first time in the history of the Israeli enemy," Brigadier-General Sare’e stated.

He added, "This operation comes within the fifth round and came as a culmination of the efforts of the missile force’ heroes who made tremendous efforts in developing missiles technology so that it would respond to the requirements of the battle and its challenges with the Zionist enemy and succeed in reaching its objectives and bypassing all obstacles and interception systems on land and sea, including American, Israeli, and others."

"The geographical challenges, the American-British aggression, and the monitoring, espionage and interception systems will not prevent beloved Yemen from performing its religious, moral and humanitarian duty in solidarity with the Paleostinian people. And the Israeli enemy should expect more strikes and specific operations to come as we approach the first anniversary of the blessed October 7th Operation, including responding to its criminal aggression on the city of Hodeidah, and continuous supportive operations for the oppressed Paleostinian people," the brigadier general stressed.

Navy launches USS New Jersey, first gender-neutral submarine in US fleet
That'll contribute to Naval superiority.
[FoxNews] USS New Jersey is a fast-attack Virginia-class submarine with crew of nearly 135 Navy personnel.

The U.S. Navy commissioned a new submarine on Saturday, the first vessel in its fleet designed to fully integrate male and female sailors.

The USS New Jersey, a fast-attack Virginia-class submarine, was commissioned during a ceremony at Naval Weapons Station Earle in Middletown, New Jersey.

"You operate the most complex platform on the planet and you continuously strive for excellence," New Jersey’s commanding officer Cmdr. Steve Halle addressed the submarine’s crew during the ceremony. "I’m amazed and humbled at what we have accomplished."

"Our superior professionalism is enhanced by our crew integration and our diversity," Halle continued. "We have exceeded expectations at every turn and overcome every obstacle set before us."

The USS New Jersey has a crew of nearly 135 Navy personnel. It’s the first in its class designed to be fully gender integrated.

When the Navy lifted its ban on women in submarines in 2010, concern about the living quarters being too tight and a lack of privacy prompted the Navy to retrofit subs and designate washrooms.

The USS New Jersey was designed for two genders from the outset
…only two?!? What bigots!!
with accommodations like increased privacy in washrooms and sleeping areas, Vice Admiral Robert Gaucher, commander of Submarine Forces Atlantic, told NorthJersey.com. Access to top bunks and overhead valves were also designed with the height, reach and strength of women in mind.
Does that mean both will be so low that the taller men, at least, will ne made exceedingly uncomfortable?
The nuclear-powered submarine was unofficially nicknamed "Jersey Girl," and its interior spaces decorated with posters and memorabilia representing the state, including a guitar signed by Jon Bon Jovi, the news outlet reported.

The sub is 377 feet long with a 34-foot beam and is able to dive to depths greater than 800 feet and operate at speeds in excess of 25 knots.
Prob win some submarine races.
It is the third U.S. Navy ship named after the state of New Jersey, following the legendary battleship BB-62 that saw action during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
