Lebanon shorts: 4 Leb hospitals suspend services, UNIFIL forces staying put
From the Times of Israel liveblog of October 4, 2024:
Four Lebanese hospitals suspend services amid Israeli bombing
I suspect that Hezbollah was using either space inside the hospital or in tunnels underneath for command and control and weapons storage.
At least four hospitals in Lebanon announce the suspension of work amid ongoing Israeli bombardment, while Hezbollah-affiliated rescuers said 11 personnel were killed in Israeli raids in south Lebanon against the terror group.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has urged the international community to pressure Israel “to allow rescue and relief teams to reach bombed sites and allow them to move” casualties, with several dozen emergency personnel killed in recent days.

Sainte Therese Hospital on the edge of Beirut’s southern suburbs reported “huge damage” and said “Israeli warplanes’ targeting… the vicinity” of the facility on Thursday “led to the halt of hospital services,” in a statement carried by the official National News Agency (NNA).

South Lebanon’s Mais al-Jabal hospital on the border with Israel announced “the halt to work of all departments,” citing factors including “enemy targeting of the hospital” since last October and problems for supply lines and staff access.

The comment also comes in a statement on the NNA.

The director of south Lebanon’s Marjayoun governmental hospital, Mouenes Kalakesh, tells AFP that “an Israeli air strike targeted ambulances at the main entrance to the hospital,” killing paramedics who were bringing wounded to the facility.

He says the “staff shortages and today’s bombardment have forced the closure of the hospital,” located less than 10 kilometers (six miles) from the border.

The Islamic Health Committee emergency service, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, said seven emergency personnel died in “direct Zionist aggression on emergency teams” at the Marjayoun hospital, with four others killed in two attacks elsewhere in south.

Report: IDF aiming to wrap up intensive fighting in Lebanon in 2-3 weeks, making way for deals in north and south
And who knows? The horse might even learn to sing.
[IsraelTimes] Channel 12 reports that a senior Israeli security official recently told hostage families that the security establishment currently believes that the IDF’s intensive fighting in the north will conclude in two or three weeks.

The goal will then be to reach a diplomatic agreement with Hezbollah that would allow Israel to secure a hostage deal, the official said.

Hezbollah says it’s in ongoing clashes with Israeli troops in Lebanon border area
Hezbollah says it is engaged in ongoing clashes with Israeli troops in the Lebanon border area, after earlier saying it forced Israeli soldiers to retreat there.

“Israeli enemy soldiers renewed an attempt to advance towards the vicinity of the municipality in the village of Odaisseh” and Hezbollah fighters confronted the attempt “and clashes are continuing,” the group says in a statement.

The Iran-backed Lebanese terror group also says it targeted troops in south Lebanon’s Yaroun area with a “rocket salvo,” as well as soldiers in two points across the border with rockets.

UNIFIL reaffirms peacekeepers staying put in south Lebanon
The United Nations peacekeeping force it Lebanon says it will not leave positions in the country’s south despite what it said was an Israeli request to “relocate.”

“On September 30, the IDF (Israeli military) notified UNIFIL of their intention to undertake limited ground incursions into Lebanon. They also requested we relocate from some of our positions,” the UN Interim Force in Lebanon says in a statement, adding that “peacekeepers remain in all positions and the UN flag continues to fly.”

The organization issued a similar statement on October 1.

Hamas confirms death of commander in Israeli strike on Tulkarem in the West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Hamas’s armed wing al-Qassam Brigades has confirmed the death of one of its commanders Zahi Yaser Abd al-Razeq Oufi in an Israeli strike on the West Bank city of Tulkarm along with seven other fighters, the group says in a statement.

The Israeli military said that it killed Oufi, head of the Hamas network in Tulkarm, in an attack on Thursday.

IDF says it identified 7 terror operatives among 18 reported killed in West Bank airstrike
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it has identified at least seven terror operatives among the dead in last night’s fighter jet strike in the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

The strike had targeted a senior Hamas commander, Zahi Yaser Abd al-Razeq Oufi, who was planning an imminent attack, according to the military.

The Palestinian Authority health ministry reported 18 dead in the strike.

According to the IDF, at least seven are confirmed to be members of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror groups.

Among them is Ghaith Radwan, who the IDF says is a top commander in Islamic Jihad. Some Palestinian reports identified Radwan as a member of Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades.

Tulkarem airstrike targeted Hamas commander planning Oct. 7 anniversary attack — military sources
[IsraelTimes] Last night’s airstrike in the West Bank city of Tulkarem killed a Hamas commander who was planning a major terror attack on the first anniversary of the October 7 onslaught, military sources say.

The IDF and Shin Bet said earlier that Zahi Yaser Abd al-Razeq Oufi was planning an imminent terror attack.

Military sources described Oufi as a “ticking time bomb,” who was planning a major attack on October 7.

At least 18 Palestinians were reported killed in the strike.

The IDF also says it is on heightened alert for other attempts by Hamas to carry out attacks ahead of and on the anniversary of the massacre, both from the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
Oufi planned and led an attempted car bombing attack near the settlement of Ateret last month, the IDF says.

He was also involved in providing weapons to other terror operatives who carried out numerous attacks in the West Bank and in Israel recently, including those that led to the injury of Israeli civilians, according to the military.

The IDF and Shin Bet add that he “worked to establish terrorist networks on behalf of Hamas and assisted terror operatives in the area to carry out significant shooting and explosive attacks.”

#1  Other sources are saying wounded but I can't see anyone on site living. Even if he was on a piss break or went out for a smoke.

The IRGC saying he is just wounded reminds me of this:
a guy who went out of town on vacation for the first time in a long time, and left his brother as a house and pet sitter.
After just a couple of days, the guy on vacation calls his brother to check in, “Hey, how’s everything?” or something like that.
The brother’s like, “Oh, shit, man, your cat died.”
“WHAT!?!” says the guy. “Died! What are you doing, going and ruining my vacation and telling me the cat died?! Now I’m gonna be upset the whole trip, I’m gonna have to tell the wife and the kids why I’m upset, and they’ll get even more upset, and it’s all because of you! First vacation I’ve taken in years and you’ve ruined it! Man, you gotta learn to manage the information, you know?”
The brother, he doesn’t know.
“Manage the information! It goes like this,“ says the guy. “It makes no difference if I know exactly when the cat died. I’m on vacation! You can feed out the bad news a little at a time, see? Like breaking it to me slowly, like that. I call today, you say, ‘Oh, the cat’s on the roof and he won’t come down.’ I worry, but not a lot. I call back in a couple days and you say, ‘Cat fell off the roof, he’s at the vet, we don’t know if he’ll make it.’ Like that, see? You tell me the news, it gets worse bit by bit, and then right before I get back you tell me he died. But you don’t ruin my whole vacation over it. Jeez.”
After a pause the guy asks his brother, “So, how’s Mom?”
And after an even longer pause the brother says, “Uh, Mom’s on the roof, and she won’t come down.”

Venezuela Putting 7 Children, Tortured in Detention, on Trial for 'Terrorism'
A group of seven unjustly detained and tortured Venezuelan minors aged 15 to 17 will soon be placed on trial for “terrorism,” the local newspaper El Carabobeño reported on Wednesday.

Regime officials detained the group of children, which includes a 16-year-old girl, during the recent wave of protests against socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro’s fraudulent election. Families denounced that the children were tortured and not given the right to due defense.

#1  It is an ideology of conquest and social domination under a superficial guise of religiosity.

Much in the way of Haitian voodoo that began primarily as a way of retaining West African and Yoruban social custom.

There is little that can be added to what Churchill said about them over a century ago.

It is not Islamic immigration that must be stopped it is Islam that must be definitively dealt with as their entire purpose is global domination.

#2  Shouldn't forget: Saudi is more dangerous than Iran, because smarter.
Posted by: Grom the Reflective || 10/05/2024 11:52 Comments || Top||

#3  No....Saudi's (considered as a "culture".... not a geo or religious grouping) are NOT smarter than Iraninan cultural peoples. Iranianians have a actual measurably higher IQ and far less consanguinity related problems (inbreading for those who dislike looking up its meaning). What makes Saudi culture far more dangerous is that it allows for group supported lies. A Saudi can out right lie and knows that his fellow Saudi's will publicly support his lie as being valid, even when they all internally know its invalid. Secondly they more likely to be amoral (no morals) rather than knowingly be immoral in the decisions they make and the conduct they undertake. One word covers all this. It's called being "devious". Saudi's are more devious than other cultures. Armed with copious amounts of petrodollars for the foreseeable future (well over 60 years from now) this makes their ability to do cultural damage to other cultures incredibly dangerous, very real and a long term problem.
Posted by: Jumbo Grease7837 || 10/05/2024 13:45 Comments || Top||

#4  ^That makes Saudis more dangerous is that, unlike the Iranians, they understand that using military power will get them squashed. So, they work by spreading Wahhabism and buying Western politicians.

#5  Good points all except Cesare took a wrong turn attl the wnd saying muslim migration shouldnt be stopped

Au contraire yes it must be halted entirely as an urgent priority

No more muslim migration into non muslim lands

They are colonising for islam and must be stopped at the border.

They can do what they like in their own countries but we must not allow a 5th column here.

We do not need or want any more migration from islamic nations

"Coming To Your Community": Biden-Harris' Open Borders Transforms America Into Terrorist Playground
[ZeroHedge] President Joe Biden and "border czar" Vice President Kamala Harris' disastrous open-border policies have rolled out the red carpet to at least 1.7 million illegal aliens deemed 'potential national security threats' into the country. This comes as Venezuelan prison gangs wreak havoc across the nation. Just two weeks ago, a former senior Border Patrol official testified before Congress, exposing the Biden-Harris administration for covering up a surge in suspected terrorists crossing the southern border.

The report, "The Biden-Harris Border Crisis: At Least 1.7 Million Potential National Security Threats," was published by the US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary and Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement on Thursday. It highlights the national security risks posed by open borders.

Here are the most critical points in the report:

  • Since January 2021, approximately 7.6 million illegal aliens have entered the US, including 1.9 million "gotaways."

  • Under the Biden-Harris Administration, US Customs and Border Protection has encountered more than 1.7 million special interest aliens—meaning aliens from 26 countries that DHS has determined pose the greatest national security and counterintelligence threats to the United States. The special interest countries include Afghanistan, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Nigeria, Syria, and Turkey

  • At least 382 individuals encountered at the border are on the US terrorist watchlist, with 100 of these encounters happening in fiscal year 2024 alone. Among these individuals, at least 99 were released into US communities by DHS.

  • The report stresses the growing threat from "special interest aliens" (from countries considered national security risks) and the lack of adequate vetting.

  • The case of Mohammad Kharwin, an Afghan national on the terrorist watchlist, is presented as an example of the administration's failure to secure the border. Despite being identified as a potential threat, Kharwin was released into the US multiple times.

"In a similar effort to hide the dangerous consequences of its open-borders policies, for months the Biden-Harris Administration delayed briefing the Committee and Subcommittee about Mohammad Kharwin, an illegal alien from Afghanistan on the terrorist watchlist," the report noted.

Dramatic Footage Shows Tanker Blown Up In Critical Maritime Chokepoint As Disasters Mount For Biden-Harris
[ZeroHedge] The Biden-Harris administration is facing several disasters this week.

From FEMA's botched response in the hurricane-ravaged US Southeast to elevated WW3 risks in the Middle East, one major and ongoing crisis that went underreported this week was multiple attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on commercial ships in the critical maritime chokepoint of the southern Red Sea.

On Wednseday we penned a note, citing intelligence firm SynMax, which specializes in maritime and energy intelligence, about two commercial vessels targeted by Houthis:

"Two ships targeted by Houthis in the RedSea yesterday—Panama-flagged CORDELIA MOON and Liberian-flagged MINOAN COURAGE—the first such attacks since September," SynMax wrote on X.

This chaos has sparked global supply chain snarls for the shipping industry as commercial vessels are rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope.

Even more concerning is the Biden-Harris administration's failure of 'Operation Prosperity Guardian' to ensure freedom of navigation and maritime security in the critical chokepoint.

Meanwhile, the clogged chokepoint is causing major supply chain disruptions at top global ports.

CNN Business' Richard Quest pointed this out on X, "Extraordinary number of ships at Singapore. All bunched up here because of Red Sea disruption to shipping and shifts in way things are being shipped. Fascinating. This is where commerce and geo politics come face to face."

In August, former Navy Seal and Blackwater founder Erik Prince issued this dire warning about what the clogged Red Sea actually means for the West: America's "credibility and deterrence" are quickly eroding.

Minawi claims decisive victory over RSF in North Darfur
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
Liberation Movement (SLM) leader Minni Minawi declared a major victory against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in North Darfur on Thursday, claiming the elimination of elite RSF units in fierce fighting north of the state capital, El Fasher.

Clashes erupted on Oct. 1 in the al-Malha locality, with the SLM-aligned joint force engaging RSF troops near the towns of Madu, al-Sayaah, and Taqabo. The joint force paraded captured and destroyed RSF vehicles as evidence of their success, while the RSF claimed to have neutralized a mobile unit belonging to the armed movements.

Minawi, who also governs the Darfur region, told Sudan Tribune that the 12-hour battle in al-Sayaah ''completely eliminated the RSF elite forces in North Darfur state.'' He asserted that the joint force, positioned near Mellit and al-Sayaah to secure humanitarian aid routes, was targeted by a large RSF contingent mobilized from Khartoum and North Kordofan, comprising some 600 combat vehicles, including armoured units.

''The RSF's plan was to eliminate this force and then invade El Fasher,'' Minawi stated, adding that the RSF laid ambushes before being engaged by six joint force units. ''We eliminated four groups during the battle while two groups fled.''

According to Minawi, the strategic importance of al-Sayaah and Mellit lies in their connection to Libya and the city of al-Dabah in northern Sudan. He believes that one more decisive battle could break the RSF siege of al-Fasher, which has been in place since April.

However,
a woman is only as old as she admits...
reports of the fighting remain conflicting. While the joint force claims a definitive win, the RSF insists it maintains control of the northern areas.

The RSF has besieged El Fasher since April, launching a major offensive in May to seize the city, one of the last strongholds of the central government in Darfur. The army and its allied armed movements continue to defend the city.

ese military on the town of al-Kuma in North Darfur on Friday, according to local activists.

The attack targeted the town's main market on market day, resulting in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction of property.

This escalation in aerial bombardment follows recent visits by high-ranking Sudanese officials to Russia, China, and Iran. The increased air force activity has drawn condemnation from political groups, armed movements, and human rights
...which often include carefully measured allowances of freedom at the convenience of the state...
organizations demanding a no-fly zone over the region.

''The bombing targeted innocent civilians— resulting in a large number of civilian deaths and the complete destruction of the market and some homes,'' said Abdel Rahman Mustafa, an activist in North Darfur. He urged the international community to intervene to prevent further bloodshed.

The Sudanese military maintains that its airstrikes target Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions and has previously warned civilians to avoid RSF-controlled areas. However,
we can't all be heroes. Somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by...
last month, an airstrike mistakenly hit a Sudanese army base in al-Fasher, killing several soldiers.

The airstrikes on al-Kuma coincide with intensified fighting between the Sudanese army and the RSF in northern and northwestern areas of North Darfur. These festivities are an extension of the conflict that has engulfed al-Fasher, the state capital, since May.

US disrupts Russian efforts to hack Pentagon and State Department computers and 'steal Americans' sensitive information'
They always try — that is their job, just as our people try against them. But is this real, or is this another Steele Dossier hoax worked up by this year’s Democratic presidential campaign team in concert with Five Eyes types at home and abroad?
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The United States has disrupted attempts to hack Pentagon and State Department computers in order to 'steal Americans' sensitive information'.

Over 40 internet domains allegedly used by Russian intelligence to try and gain access to computers and emails used across the US government were seized yesterday.

The hackers had used the domains as a part of 'an ongoing and sophisticated spear-phishing campaign.'

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement: 'The Russian government ran this scheme to steal Americans' sensitive information, using seemingly legitimate email accounts to trick victims into revealing account credentials'.

It comes as the head of the department's National Security Division told CBS that the nation faced 'onslaught of foreign election interference' from Russia, Iran and China before the upcoming election on November 5.

Matthew Olsen said: 'They see this as a period of vulnerability for us. They are looking at ways at which they can change the outcome of our election, or to find issues that divide us'.

Mr Olsen also said that the department learned a lesson from 2016 - when Russian meddling in the election wasat first seen as a hoax before it was proven.

He claimed that hackers are coming up with new and innovative ways to spread misinformation which includes impersonating well known news websites such as Fox News and the Washington Post.

The domains seized yesterday were used by hackers belonging to the 'Callisto Group' and its partners, which the DOJ described as a unit within the Russian Secret Service - the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

The group, also known as 'Cold River' or 'Star Blizzard', first appeared on the radar of intelligence professionals after it targeted Britain's foreign office in 2016.

Microsoft told the DOJ that they had simultaneously filed a civil action to seize 66 internet domains allegedly used by the Callisto Group.

-Land of the Free
Friday Morning Kunstler-The last paragraph about Bibi is thought provoking to say the least!
The last two paragraphs:
One surprising October surprise is advanced by whistleblower Mike McCormick on Substack (Midnight in the Laptop of Good and Evil). Mr. McCormick was White House stenographer under Presidents Bush II, Obama, and Trump. His job was to transcribe meetings, speeches, and interactions between major political figures. He was the proverbial fly-on-the-wall for years and years. He has seen and heard a lot and still hears a lot from people who know a lot. He says the Obama-Biden-Harris faction of the Deep State blob is anti-Israel and that Israel understands what this means. He says that Benjamin Netanyahu has told “Joe Biden” (or, let’s say, told errand-boys Tony Blinken and Jake Sullivan) that if the blob engineers a phony victory for Kamala Harris, he will blow up the oil fields in Iran and the anti-Israel Democrats will have to pick up the pieces.
As I recall, China gets upward of 90% of its oil from Iran nowadays, so cutting it off would matter to that crowd.
There it is, raw power politics, like so much meat on the table. “Joe Biden” cannot control Bibi. “Joe Biden” is too far gone and two weak, and Israel does not aim to let itself get wiped off the map, as Iran’s leadership never tires of saying. The blob, McCormick says, has to ask itself: does it help rig the election for Harris or stand down on all its ballot harvesting and other trickery and actually allow a real election to roll out? Surprise! Now, take your Kit-kat bar and go home.

Pakistan Army called in ahead of SCO summit in Islamabad
[GEO.TV] In a bid to ensure law and order situation in the federal capital during the forthcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, the federal government approved the deployment of Pakistan Army's troops in Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution.

Islamabad is all set to host the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting on October 15 and 16 with major foreign leaders, including Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visiting the country.

According to the notification — a copy of which is available with Geo News, a ''requisite strength'' of the Pakistan Army, in aid of civil power, will be deployed from Oct 5 to 17 to maintain law and order situation with respect to SCO moot and visits of VVIP delegations for the said meeting.

''The exact area of deployment along with an additional number of troops, if the requirement arises, will be worked out by Islamabad administration in consultation with concerned stakeholders,'' it stated.

The federal government had approved a comprehensive plan to ensure foolproof security during the forthcoming huddle of regional leaders.

During the recent meeting, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that additional personnel from the Pakistan Army, Rangers, Frontier Corps (FC), and Punjab police will be deployed for security duties at the SCO moot.

US officials said to believe Sinwar hardening stance in hostage talks
[IsraelTimes] Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has hardened his stance in the hostage talks in recent weeks, unnamed US officials tell The New York Times.
Rigor mortis?
Somewhat paradoxically, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said twice this week that the US hasn’t heard from Hamas in recent weeks.

Nonetheless, the US officials speaking with The Times say that Sinwar has become more fatalistic — an accusation that has been lobbed at Sinwar since October 7 — and prefers a full-blown regional war over cutting a hostage deal with Israel at this stage.

Frontline situation update: October 4 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 21:35 Around 20:00 Moscow time stopped an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

A Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle was destroyed by air defense systems on duty over the territory of the Belgorod region.

20:54 Important success. The Kruglyakovka road has been cut off –map.

The enemy has lost an important bypass road, as a result of which the overall connectivity of the bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Oskol will continue to decline.

20:12 Destruction of the concentration area of the company tactical group of the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Servicemen of the North group of forces discovered the concentration area of a company tactical group of one of the mechanized battalions of the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was arranged in a forest belt in the Sumy region.

The crew of the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system destroyed 12 combat armored vehicles, five pickup trucks and up to 80 Ukrainian Armed Forces militants.

19:57 The crew of the 130mm M-46 towed gun of the "Southern" group of forces destroyed a self-propelled artillery unit and a crew of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donetsk direction –video.

19:25 Novomikhaylovka – Katerinovka.

Active military operations in the Novomikhaylovka area. Attack by the Russian Armed Forces with armored vehicles and bridge-rifle units in the direction of the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in Katerinovka. artillery attack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian Armed Forces advance about one km and the assault group reaches the southern outskirts of the settlement of Katerinovka.

18:43 The crew of the T-90M Proryv tank of the Center group of forces destroyed an enemy group that was preventing the advance of assault units in the Avdeevka direction –video.

Semi-direct fire with constant adjustments by UAV crews allows tank crews to destroy enemy military targets with minimal expenditure of ammunition.

18:08 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Seversky direction: battles on the northern approaches to Belogorovka and successes of the Russian Armed Forces on the southern flank of the “northern salient”.

The Seversky direction has long remained a "static" section of the front, significant changes in the line of contact here occur quite rarely. However, over the past two months, Russian troops have expanded the zone of control at several key borders at once.

– Units of the Russian Armed Forces occupied the territory of the western filtration station of the first lift in the Belogorovka area. This allowed them to create a bridgehead on the right bank of the Seversky Donets River, threatening the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the northern part of the settlement.

– It is likely that the Russian command will soon launch attacks in the direction of the Belogorovsky forest reserve with the aim of expanding the left “pincer” of the semi-encirclement around the enemy group in the village.

- At the same time, Ukrainian formations still control the chalk quarry dump, which allows them to hold back the advance of Russian troops. On the western slope of the heights, the enemy has set up numerous fortifications, allowing it to quickly transfer reserves.

– Further south, fighting continues in the area of Verkhnekamenskoye, which is one of the key strongholds of Ukrainian formations in the Seversk direction. Recently, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the liberation of the settlement. If confirmed, this would mean the beginning of an operational crisis for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which could lead to the enemy losing Belogorovka and, possibly, Seversk itself.

- Nevertheless, it is currently impossible to confirm the data on the capture of the village by the RF Armed Forces. Our sources from the field report that units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are present both in the settlement itself and in its environs.

– The liberation of the village has not yet been confirmed by objective control footage – in the videos published online, the target of Russian FPV drones is the positions of Ukrainian formations at a large stronghold to the east of Verkhnekamenskoye.

– Further south, Russian troops have achieved success in the Spornoye area. During a series of attacks, the Russian Armed Forces have driven the enemy out of several forest belts in the Vezuyeva Gora nature reserve and the neighboring forest. This opens up the possibility for them to attack the flank of the Ukrainian Armed Forces positions on the northern outskirts of Ivano-Daryevka, where Russian Armed Forces units are gradually “softening” their defenses with artillery and the Solntsepek TOS.

The Russian command can also be expected to take action to “straighten” the front line to the north, forcing the enemy to retreat under the threat of being semi-encircled.

– On September 2, information was confirmed about the liberation of Vyemka by the Russian army – a large stronghold of Ukrainian formations on the southern approaches to Seversk.

The Russian Armed Forces assault aircraft drove the enemy out of the forest belts to the southeast of the village and also advanced along the railway to the north from the Vyemka station. After this, the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the village were caught in a “pincer” and forced to retreat.

- Now the Russian troops are faced with the task of clearing the "pocket" that has formed to the south of Vyemka and preparing for a further offensive on Seversk. Ukrainian formations rely on several large strongholds to the south of the city, for the assault of which the Russian Armed Forces will need to deploy significant resources.

– On September 10, footage emerged of Russian troops successfully storming a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces southeast of Privolnoye. The attack was probably carried out by the Russian Armed Forces during the summer, but the footage “surfaced” on the Internet only in early September.

Russian troops continue their offensive in this area with the aim of breaking through the formation of the northern face of the semi-encirclement of Ukrainian Armed Forces units in Orekhovo-Vasilevka.

17:50 Advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the direction of the settlement of Katerinovka –map.

After the liberation of Ugledar, pressure on Katerinovka and Bogoyavlenka increases.

17:10 The crew of the Su-34 launched an air strike with aerial bombs with a universal planning and correction module against personnel and a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border area of the Kursk region –video.

16:48 Volchansk.

Our aviation covered part of the column of Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment, using a FAB-1500 with an UPMK. The equipment was located in the hangar building. The control point for the Ukrainian Armed Forces UAV was also located there.

15:29 Advance of the 144th Guards Motor Rifle Division near Nevsky –map.

14:47 Around 12.30 Moscow time stopped an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by air defense systems on duty over the territories of the Belgorod and Kursk regions.

14:22 Air strike with a cruise missile on the identified location of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Chasov Yar –video.

13:15 From 9.50 to 11.30 Moscow time stopped attempts by the Kyiv regime to carry out terrorist attacks using aircraft-type UAVs against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense systems on duty.

12:44 The Mi-28NM crew struck a concentration of manpower and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the Kursk border area –video.

12:04 Situation in the Kupyansk direction. The Russian Armed Forces approached Kruglyakovka and Kolesnikovka –map.

The task of our troops is to reach the river and cut off the bypass road running along it, effectively cutting the Ukrainian Armed Forces bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Oskol into two parts.

11:36 During the past night, during an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles on targets on the territory of the Russian Federation, air defense systems on dutydestroyed and intercepted18 Ukrainian aircraft-type UAVs.

Six UAVs were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod Region, six UAVs were destroyed and intercepted over the territory of the Voronezh Region, five UAVs were destroyed over the waters of the Sea of Azov and one over the territory of the Rostov Region.

11:11 Svatovo-Terny.

Active military operations in the Svatovo area. Attack of the Russian Armed Forces in the direction of Terny. Advancement of the assault group to the west. Expansion of the Russian Armed Forces control zone by about one km. Defeat of armored vehicles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

10:43 Destruction of the Tunguska air defense missile and gun system combat vehicle of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the Lancet loitering munition in the border area of the Kursk region –video.

10:10 Tsukurino. Advance of the Russian army.

Since yesterday evening, our attack aircraft, supported by armored vehicles and army aviation, knocked out enemy from two strong points. The enemy suffered losses. Some of the Ukrainian Armed Forces retreated, while the rest were semi-encircled. Our troops are currently closing the flanks to completely encircle the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

09:55 Sumy region. Destruction of the Grad MLRS of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Tonight our UAV revealed enemy 122mm BM-21 MLRS "Grad" artillery attack the border areas of the Kursk region. As a result of the air strike, the enemy installation was destroyed.

09:22 Frontline summary as of the morning of 10/04/2024

- Zaporizhzhya Front. There are small advances of the Russian Armed Forces in the Rabotino area. Our troops are slowly recapturing positions from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

- Donetsk Front. The Russian Armed Forces are trying to develop their success north of Ugledar, and the advance towards Bogoyavlenovka from Vodyanoye is also continuing. Ukrainian General Staff: the enemy intensified assault operations in three directions of the front
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] Since the beginning of the day, the number of clashes has increased to 79.

by Ivanna Kapustyanska

The defense forces of Ukraine are holding back the offensive of the Russian occupiers. Russian terrorists continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with rocket, air and artillery strikes. By this time, the number of combat clashes had increased to 79.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces opposes this.

It is the hottest now in the Kurakhiv, Kupyan and Pokrovsky directions. The defense forces are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory.

Today, the occupiers carried out airstrikes and artillery fire on the border of the Sumy region. Currently, 13 air strikes using 23 guided air bombs are known.

In particular, the districts of Stepne, Obody, Bilokopytove, Yastrubyne, Pavlivka, Bondarivshchyna, Myrlogi and Katerynivka settlements fell under them. The settlements of Uhroidy, Sosnivka, Obody, Shalygine, Luhivka, Pavlivka, Velyka Pisarivka, Fotovizh, and Stepanivka were subjected to artillery fire.

On the territory of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, the Russian occupiers carried out ten air strikes, dropping 20 guided air bombs.

In the Kharkiv direction, since the beginning of the day, there have been three skirmishes near Staritsa and Vovchansk, two of which are still ongoing. At the same time, the occupiers dropped two aerial bombs in the Vovchansk region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Russian troops tried 11 times to storm our positions near Sinkivka, Novoselivka, Pischany, Stelmakhivka, and Lozova, the fighting continues. Hlushkivka was hit by an airstrike.

In the Lyman direction, the enemy attacked in the areas of Grekivka, Makiivka, Novosadovo, and Torsky. Since the beginning of the day, there have already been eight clashes in this direction, two are still ongoing. The enemy carried out airstrikes with anti-aircraft missiles in the areas of the settlements of Izyumske, Zarichne, Ozerne and Lyman, using 20 air bombs.

The enemy does not stop trying to break through the defense of our troops in the Siversk direction, however, receives a decent rebuff from the Ukrainian defenders. So, near Verkhnokamyansk, the occupiers twice tried to suppress our units. Air strikes were carried out on Zakitny, Pereizny and Riznyivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have tried six times to dislodge our units from their positions near Kalynyvka, Stupochky and Andriivka. Also, the enemy attacked Chasovoy Yar with unguided air missiles and dropped the KAB on Yurkivka.

In the Toretsk direction, the enemy, with the support of bomber aircraft, attacked the positions of our troops eight times. Currently, there are seven clashes near Toretsk and Shcherbinivka.

Fierce battles are taking place in the Pokrovsky direction in Mykolaivka, Selidovoy and Lysivka districts. So far, the enemy has carried out seven assaults on our positions. Battles are ongoing in four locations. Enemy aircraft also struck near the settlements of Pokrovsk and Selidove, using anti-aircraft missiles.

A difficult situation is observed in the Kurakhiv direction, where the enemy has attacked our units 16 times since the beginning of the day. Tried to advance near Tsukuryny, Gostroy, Georgiyivka, Antonivka, Kostyantynivka and in the direction of Bogoyavlenka. Six clashes are ongoing.

In the area of Robotyny, Maly Shcherbaki and Kamiansky in the Orihiv direction, the occupiers tried to advance four times, but were strongly repulsed, the battle continues near Kamiansky.

23 missiles reportedly hit Nevatim and Tel Nof military bases during Iran attack last Thursday
[IsraelTimes] The Washington Post reports that at least two dozen of the roughly 200 ballistic missiles fired by Iran at Israel on Tuesday managed to break through air defenses and hit or land near at least three military and intelligence sites.

The Post says it verified videos that showed 20 missiles striking the Nevatim air base in southern Israel and three striking the Tel Nof base in central Israel. Other videos showed that at least two missiles landed near Israel’s Mossad spy agency headquarters in Glilot.

The Israeli military on Wednesday acknowledged that some of its airbases were hit in Iran’s massive ballistic missile attack on the country a night earlier, but stressed that no harm was caused to the functioning of the Israeli Air Force.

The IDF said that it measures the effectiveness of an attack based on how much damage was caused to critical infrastructure and assets, how many casualties were caused, and not how many missiles ultimately impacted. Air defenses successfully prevented such damage and major casualties, it said.

Astroturf: ‘Gun Owners for Harris' Group Has Just 8 Members Per State.
[Nt'l Pulse] A gun owners coalition supporting Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has only eight members on average in each state it is active in. GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Harris-Walz, organized by a pro-gun control PAC founded by former Representative Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ), reports having just 400 active members across 45 total U.S. states as of its launch on Thursday.

The Democrat gun owners group aims to organize pro-gun voters in support of Harris and Walz, a demographic with which Democrats have almost universally struggled to win over for decades. Additionally, GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Harris-Walz says it will provide cover for the Democratic presidential ticket from Republican attacks highlighting Harris and Walz’s past anti-Second Amendment stances.

Giffords is one of the Democratic Party’s most visible advocates for gun control. Notably, she was featured on the main stage of the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) alongside her husband, Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ). In 2020, she also appeared on the party convention’s main stage, backing Joe Biden and pushing for stringent gun control laws.

The former Arizona Congressman, once seen as moderate on gun policy, founded the pro-gun control GIFFORDS PAC after being shot in the head in an assassination attempt in 2011. Giffords suffered a severe brain injury as a result of the shooting but has since regained much of her ability to speak and walk.

Kamala Harris claims she owns a handgun, a point which she emphasized during the September presidential debate with former President Donald J. Trump. Despite the claim, the Harris campaign has been evasive when pressed for more details about the firearm.

Meanwhile, Harris’s running mate, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), suffered an embarrassing gaffe during his debate square-off with Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH) earlier this week while defending his anti-Second Amendment record. While attempting to use school shootings as a shield, Walz stated that he had "befriended school shooters."

It is a shame Americans get so tribal they cannot see clearly.

Yes RFK came from the democrats - with his family how could he not

It is also true he spent a lifetime fighting corruption from big corporate lobbyists who run your country

Did you like a badly tested mRNA jab that didnt work mandated on you with lockdowns thanks to warp speed?

Do you like the endless funding of foreign wars (raytheon) with not a cent to soend on hurricane helene victims?

This is because of corporate corruption of government

Exactly what RFK would have removed.

Trump we already know that story when Javanka gets in.

No wall - where is it? Corporate lobby disnt want it because they are globalists

So tell me again how RFK was bad because reasons.

You love Trump only for the reason that he is not democrat and because he says what you want to hear.

You already know he won't do what he says. You already ran that experiment.

Live not by lies

#9  Jared and Ivanka are globalists

They raised $3.5 billion for their private equity fund from Arab Muslim states as per here

https://www.wsj.com/real-estate/jared-ivanka-trump-mediterranean-albania-five-star-88d1edf7

Rantburgers very fairly want a government to represent the interests of American citizens, not other countries

That is why you want nationalists not globalists

Democrats openly are the party of the war machine corporatists and globalists.

Republicans are just the same with a different sales pitch.

This is the reality

You are so focused on the game of capture the flag in election times that you are failing to see that it doesn’t make a difference if it is the red flag or the blue flag.

Trump might win on November 2 but you won’t. You won’t win if Trump wins any more than you would if kamala wins. Trump won’t shut the border, if he had built the wall as promised it wouldn’t be open now. Globalists do not want it shut.

It makes zero real difference because their policies on everything that counts will be the same. The only thing that differs is the wrapping. You get to argue about identity politics, gays and abortion and border child trafficking because none of that will interrupt the plans and policies of the WEF, raytheon, pfizer, the state department - all the people that run you

Moderna, the CIA and General Dynamics do not care about your pronouns. They get you arguing and voting about that because then you can’t stop them robbing and controlling you.

corporate globalist control hurts Australia too as our captured elites follow blindly just as US elites do.

Your only chance this election was RFK but he gave up.

I would recommend focusing on your local and state institutions and simply ignoring the federal election circus as you don’t actually have any meaningful say.

The only remedy is to either break up the large global corporations or stop using them and shut them out of state and local government procurement. Take over your institutions and make new rules preferring small business local suppliers over global corporates. Shut them out.

Cyber
Discord has gone too far. The social network for gamers has become a nest of hackers and terrorists
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Rantburg.com maintains a Discord server, ostensibly to be used in the event Rantburg.com is down.

It should be noted that Discord's primary attraction amongst gamers is its voice applications and its screen sharing applications, both of which I use frequently.

Discord also is used by gaming companies to receive feedback on their products and for suggestions for improvements and for debugging.

I have yet to see any terrorists on any of the Discord channels I follow.

by Pavel Kiselev

[REGNUM] Roskomnadzor demanded that the administration of the online platform Discord remove 947 illegal materials, including calls for extremism, propaganda of Nazism, drugs, LGBT and even child pornography.

Since March of this year, the platform has been included in the register of social networks, whose administrators themselves are obliged to search for and remove illegal content published by network users.

Discord is a free American online platform that provides the ability to communicate by creating user servers. It was created in 2015 as a platform for gamers, but subsequently gained popularity among a wider audience. This turned Discord into one of the largest social networks for exchanging messages and calls. According to various estimates, the platform's Russian audience ranges from 2.62 million to 4.83 million users.

RECRUITMENT - FROM "DEPOSITORS" TO TERRORIST ATTACK PERPETRATORS
The social network is most popular among children and teenagers, which is used by criminals, “recruiting minors to ‘stash’ drugs, convincing them that their use is normal,” Roskomnadzor notes.

The criminals here are not only running networks selling illegal substances. In the summer of 2022, it became known that a group of hackers was using popular teenage channels on Discord and YouTube and offering them the opportunity to distribute malware through these online platforms.

Here, young people are also drawn into extremist cells and into committing terrorist attacks in the country’s regions, department representatives indicated.

Thus, in August 2022, the Safe Internet League revealed that messages with false information about the mining of schools and kindergartens in Russia, the purpose of which was to disrupt the start of the school year, were being distributed through Discord and Telegram chats. And this distribution of fakes can still be considered relatively “harmless”.

Most recently, on October 1, the FSB reported that its employees, together with representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee, detained 39 people aged 14 to 35 during a special operation. Being supporters of Ukrainian terrorist organizations banned in Russia, they incited children and teenagers to attack people. Including nine teenagers preparing attacks on schoolchildren and teachers. One of the detainees prepared a detailed plan for an attack on classmates, selected a possible weapon, and also outlined the sequence of actions. The teenagers received these instructions from Kiev via Discord.

THEY CONSIDER LGBT TO BE THE NORM
“This network also frequently encounters cases of harassment and the inducement of minors to engage in sexual, including non-traditional, relationships,” Roskomnadzor also states.

Discord employees refuse to moderate content with LGBT propaganda and pedophilia because they do not consider LGBT a threat, Andrey Masalovich, president of the Inforus consortium and developer of the Avalanche internet intelligence platform, explained to Regnum.

"As for pedophilia, they believe that it is not an 'international concept', since the age of majority is different in different countries. These are such clever tricks," the expert explained.

The “free” attitude of the social network’s administration towards the content that circulates there leads to the fact that neo-Nazi symbols, LGBT* pornography, and propaganda of the Ukrainian “Legion of Freedom of Russia”**, which is banned in the Russian Federation, are freely available on Discord.

The fact that a platform created with a harmless purpose - as a resource for communication between players - has turned into an extremely toxic and dangerous environment is due to the very “architecture” of Discord.

MAGNET FOR CYBERCRIMINALS
"Discord is especially convenient due to its mechanics of servers that are accessible only by invitation. This prevents proper content moderation and introduces an element of anonymity, the inappropriateness of which on the Internet has long been obvious," explained State Duma deputy, member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, IT and Communications Anton Nemkin.

Even if the user is not from a risk group, not one of those who might fall into the networks of drug dealers, pedophiles or Ukrainian recruiters, he is still in danger.

Spy Pet, a service that has been operating since April 2024, collects huge amounts of data from Discord, including user messages and their activity. This data is sold to anyone who wants it, including crypto payments, for a small amount. Spy Pet monitors information from more than 14,000 servers and provides access to billions of messages.

The discovery revealed that Discord messages may be more vulnerable to surveillance than previously thought.

In 2022, Russian antivirus company Kaspersky Lab reported that scammers were deceiving people on the American platform. The extortionists sent out messages about winning free bitcoins and used a network of fake news sites for this scheme.

Some hacker groups also use the service to distribute malware and sell stolen information.

It should be noted that this is pointed out not only by Russian, but also by Western experts in protection against network threats.

In February this year, the American company Intel 471, one of the leading providers of cyber threat analysis solutions, published a report that showed that hackers use the Discord platform to coordinate their actions, share stolen data, and teach each other new hacking methods. Discord’s anonymity and convenience, including the ability to easily restore communities, make it attractive to criminals, which poses a serious threat to users and organizations.

"The Discord platform has long since become a real magnet for cybercriminals. It is easy to find malware, phishing attacks and other threats here. Users regularly become victims of fraud, and the platform does not take active measures to protect them," says Ilya Gogua, an expert at the Regional Public Center for Internet Technologies (ROCIT).

There is no protection from either attackers or destructive content, the distribution of which is difficult to control due to the very principle of the platform. In other words, security in Discord is an illusion, the expert concluded.

FINES DON'T HELP
At the same time, the owners and management of Discord either completely ignore the requirements of Russian legislation, or comply with them extremely selectively, reminds journalist Alexander Malkevich, head of the department of social communications at the Azov State Pedagogical University (Zaporizhia region).

In November 2021, Roskomnadzor included Discord Inc. in the List of Foreign Persons Operating in the Russian Segment of the Internet. The company was required to create a branch, register a personal account on the Roskomnadzor website, and post an electronic form for sending requests from Russian citizens and legal entities. None of the requirements were met.

Therefore, since August 2021, search engines operating in Russia, on the instructions of Roskomnadzor, have been informing: Discord is a violator of our legislation.

Discord continues to ignore demands to stop distributing illegal content. In July 2023, a Moscow court fined the company 6 million rubles for failing to remove pornographic content featuring minors. The platform has been subject to sanctions for failing to remove prohibited content, including extremist content and drug-making instructions.

Yes, sometimes the company meets the authorities' demands halfway - for example, the year before last, 55 million users were blocked for sending spam or engaging in pedophilia. According to Roskomnadzor's demands, 933 links with prohibited materials were removed. But this is rather an exception to the rule.

Discord continues to spread a large amount of prohibited information, which for some reason the management is in no hurry to block.

Thus, just recently, on September 30, the Tagansky Court of Moscow fined the platform 3.5 million rubles for failure to comply with requirements to remove prohibited content.

“When a company refuses to comply with laws and remove fakes and destructive content, this is always an alarming signal,” emphasizes Rifat Sabitov, head of the commission for the development of the information community, media and mass communications of the Public Chamber of Russia.

In such cases, the authorities still strive to move the dialogue into a constructive direction and do not try to solve the problem with multi-million dollar fines, following the example of their European colleagues, noted a member of the Public Chamber.

But when the law is violated systematically, and administrative cases continue to accumulate, then the only logical action is a thorough inspection of the platform’s activities – and then appropriate decisions are made, Sabitov added.

"Please note that no one asked Discord for anything supernatural - the discussion included materials related to pedophilia and 18+ content. It is difficult to understand the principled refusal to remove even such content," the public figure emphasized.

It should be noted that it is not only the Russian authorities who have accumulated claims against Discord. This year, the French National Commission on Information Technology and Human Rights fined the platform 800 thousand euros for violating the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Secret documents from the Pentagon and US intelligence in 2023 also leaked through Discord - the company is currently cooperating with the US authorities in investigating this incident. But "the deed is already done."

We could say that the problems of our Western "non-partners" do not concern us, if the freedom in Discord did not threaten Russians as well. Discord has become a toxic and, moreover, unnecessary platform for Russian users.

This is also pointed out by "specialized" legislators. "How can Discord continue to operate if the messenger constantly violates Russian laws and does not protect its users? Destructive content remains, fraud flourishes, and the company does not even try to comply with the requirements for removing prohibited information," notes State Duma deputy Anton Nemkin.

Naturally, after all the warnings and attempts to establish a dialogue, a thorough inspection of the messenger by Roskomnadzor is a logical decision, the parliamentarian emphasized.

“Roskomnadzor is doing everything right by stretching sanctions against Discord over several stages: first a warning, then a fine, and soon a possible slowdown and blocking,” notes Andrey Masalovich, president of the Inforus consortium and developer of the Avalanche internet intelligence platform.

NO GREAT LOSS
Calls to block Discord, as has already been done with other Western Internet resources, are already spreading in RuNet. This opinion is shared, for example, by popular blogger Dmitry "Goblin" Puchkov.

"There is such a simple concept in the Russian language - "has played itself out". It is fully applicable to Discord, which took the warnings of the authorities and the desire to speak like humans for weakness," Puchkov believes. He is sure that in its current form, this platform is a real breeding ground for fakes and destructiveness. "I don't know what censored word can be used to describe moderation that turns a blind eye to materials related to pornography and pedophilia," the blogger noted.

And everything positive that is in Discord is easily replaced by Russian analogues, Puchkov explained.

"Want to play with friends? Call them in any domestic messenger. Want to conduct an online lesson? Try the same calls or specialized services. I definitely do not see a problem in the absence of Discord in Russia, if the messenger is suddenly blocked," the blogger emphasized.

Rifat Sabitov, head of the OP commission for the development of the information community, media and mass communications, shares a similar opinion. He is confident that the possible blocking of Discord in Russia will not be a loss for users.

It is quite easy to replace the functionality of Discord. Voice communication and group calls can be arranged in many domestic messengers, so choosing a suitable alternative will not be difficult, the head of the relevant commission of the OP noted.

Deputy Nemkin also points to this. "Even if the only way out of the situation is to block the service, Russians have nothing to worry about. Among domestic platforms, it is easy to find a solution for communicating with friends during the game, as well as a program for group calls and distance learning," the parliamentarian said.

So many public figures are either neutral or positive about the closure of Discord. Perhaps this will be the only way out if the company continues to ignore the urgent requests and demands of Roskomnadzor and "not notice" how the resource has turned into a comfortable environment for extremists, perverts and cyber fraudsters.

"Discord is an example of a major threat to Russian society. Firstly, because it is popular among young people, and this is the most pliable audience that the enemy can influence. Secondly, it is dangerous because it spreads hacker infection and through it you can easily hack users' computers," summarizes Andrey Masalovich, developer of the Avalanche Internet intelligence platform. Finally, - adds the interlocutor of IA Regnum, - Discord moderators are not friends with the Russian authorities, which is why they have ignored calls to remove illegal content for so long.

A mirror is a great signaling device.”" A burning spare tire is an even better signaling device in clear daytime conditions. I've found no online mention of CB, FRS and GMRS radios being used to communicate with those marooned by Helene. Big box stores all over the affected areas have been selling them for many years now. It's hard to believe these haven't already been used multiple times for rescue & relief purposes. FCC requires amateur radio licenses for 2M transceivers, which have been available for <$25 for years now -- license requirements do not apply during emergencies. Keeping all these charged for more than a few days is a problem. Generators and vehicles can be used for charging with DC DC converters but many aren't aware this can be done, and many don't have these readily available.

#6  it's actually true that emergency services have to control a disaster zone and not let in any unknown volunteers for very good reason

sometimes they say they are helping but instead loot or do worse to survivors.

That's why firefighters always have control of hte ground (in australia)

Volunteers are best to volunteer through established services not go it alone, because they can expect to be told not to go in. Nobody can tell if they are looters or not, that is the problem

Also even if well-intentioned, they can become a casualty

Lavrov says Ukraine trains terrorists in Syria in coordination with US
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Kiev regime is training militants from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) in Syria in coordination with US representatives. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an article published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.

“On the territory of Syria, the regime of Volodymyr Zelensky, in coordination with the Americans, is training terrorists from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in new technologies for producing UAVs for the purpose of combat operations against the Russian armed forces in the SAR (Syrian Arab Republic),” the minister noted.

He also stressed that the coalition of Western countries continues to strike territory in Syria, effectively “inspiring” the regime in Kyiv to carry out similar terrorist activities in Russian regions.

IDF Drops 73 Tons of Explosives on Hezbollah Headquarters
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dropped 73 tons of explosives on a headquarters in a Beirut suburb where Hashim Safi al-Din, the successor to the liquidated leader of the Hezbollah movement, could have been located. This was reported on October 4 by the Ynet portal.

“On Friday night, Air Force planes dropped bombs weighing a total of 73 tons on a bunker <…> in the Dahiya area, which was identified as the ‘main intelligence headquarters’ of Hezbollah,” the article states.

It is estimated that Safi al-Din was on the territory of the complex at the time of the strike. The publication noted that it is currently unknown what the shelling of the Shiite movement's positions led to.

As reported by Regnum, on the evening of October 2, the Israel Defense Forces said it had carried out a "precision" strike on Beirut, attacking the Bashoura neighborhood in the center of the Lebanese capital. According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, the strike killed nine people and injured 14 others. As reported by Sky News Arabia, the target of the attack in central Beirut was a medical center affiliated with Hezbollah.

-Land of the Free
Secret Service Shedding Staff at Unprecedented Rate-Nearly 1 in 5 Secret Service staffers left the agency in 2022 and 2023
[Newser] Nearly 1 in 5 Secret Service staffers left the agency in 2022 and 2023, leaving it "unprepared" for a year in which a former president would face two assassination attempts, the New York Times reports, noting "even agents willing to take a bullet for the president were often unwilling to tolerate life at the agency that protects him." At least 1,400 of 7,800 employees jumped ship in "the largest outflow from the agency in at least two decades," with reasons for the "exodus" blamed on punishing overtime, which resulted in no additional pay after a certain point; perceptions of favoritism; dilapidated facilities; and a poorly conceived retiree program that pushed many agents into retirement "so they could be paid a salary and a pension at once," per the outlet.

In July 2023, then-director Kimberly Cheatle described the critical need to retain employees in an agencywide email. Yet resignations kept coming. The Secret Service had then been seeing "overwork causing departures, causing more overwork" for at least 10 years, per the Times. In a recent survey, 68 of 153 agents said they hit the pay cap for protective details ($221,145 in 2024), with some missing out on some $30,000 in overtime. In an effort to boost numbers, the agency lowered recruiting standards, but that meant taking on new hires who didn't fully understand the job and were more likely to quit, one agent said. The agency also took on a man who'd reportedly held a gun to his girlfriend's head, the Times reports.

The service also sought to welcome back retirees with a salary paid on top of their pensions, but that only led more agents to retire so they could benefit. And some agents say those who were brought back contributed little. One was reportedly put to work painting an office. Cheatle ultimately helped boost the service's numbers to 8,100, "its highest level ever," with bonuses and enhancing subsidized child care among the benefits, per the Times. But staffing levels remain below the goal for 2023, and a senior official tells the Hill that the agency is being pushed to its limits. CNN has also reported on what agents say is "a high-stress, high-intensity workplace beset by management and logistical issues."

Talibanization of Bangladesh: Biden-Harris Administration, ''Human Rights'' Groups Silent :: Gatestone Institute
  • [GATESTONEINSTITUTE.ORG] Islamist and jihadist student protesters under [Muhamad] Yunus's leadership have established an alternative government in the country, reminiscent of Iran's private militia, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Dozens of individuals, including Hindus, are falling victim to mob justice, while the perpetrators of these gruesome crimes enjoy impunity.

  • Notably, Muhammad Yunus is one of the major donors to the Clinton Foundation. According to a cable leaked by Wikileaks, in 2007, Hillary Clinton made frantic efforts and exerted pressure on the Bangladesh Army to appoint her friend Yunus as head of the then military-backed interim government.

  • Since Yunus enjoys the full support of the Biden-Harris administration, as well as Democratic Party leaders such as Barack Obama, and Bill and Hillary Clinton, not one of the rights groups, including Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch, has issued a statement condemning the attacks, rapes and murders in Bangladesh.

  • Hizb ut-Tahrir is an anti-democratic Islamist organization that advocates for the establishment of a caliphate. It is banned in Bangladesh and several other countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States.

  • [W]ill Bangladesh's descent into radicalism continue unchecked, or will the international community finally confront the growing Talibanization threatening the stability of the region?

Trump to return to Butler PA 5 Oct 2024

Today they'll have 2 HVTs. Ignorant.
[MSN-CBSnews] How Secret Service will secure Trump's return Saturday to Butler, Pennsylvania.

When former president Donald Trump takes the stage once again Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, the security apparatus around the GOP nominee will look starkly different from the day of the first assassination attempt against him, when he took cover behind his podium as a gunman opened fire.

SECRET SERVICE AND THE SECOND BUTLER RALLY
U.S. Secret Service personnel will be stationed both inside and outside of the secure perimeter. That area includes the roof of a glass company warehouse where investigators say 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired off eight rounds on July 13, grazing Trump's ear, killing one attendee and injuring two others.

"Since the attempted assassination of former President Trump on July 13, the U.S. Secret Service has made comprehensive changes and enhancements to our communications capabilities, resourcing, and protective operations," U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement. "Today, the former President is receiving heightened protection and we take the responsibility to ensure his safety and security very seriously."

Federal law enforcement and local police began planning for Trump's return to Butler roughly two weeks ago, multiple law enforcement officials told CBS News. The first in-person planning meeting with local law enforcement took place earlier this week, on Monday.

"Regarding the October 5 event in Butler, we are coordinating closely with the Pennsylvania State Police as well as local law enforcement in and around Butler Township," Guglielmi added. "We are also leveraging other federal security resources to expand personnel and technology."

Those federal resources will include agents from the Department of Homeland Security's Homeland Security Investigations, who will stand post inside and outside the security perimeter. TSA agents will be working the magnetometers along the perimeter of the site, according to law enforcement sources.

And while the 45th president's security footprint will include more personnel and assets — complete with counter sniper teams, enhanced counter drone technology and counter assault teams — there will also be additional Pennsylvania State Police officers on site, with tactical team members blended alongside U.S. Secret Service teams throughout the event.

SENATE REPORT ON SECRET SERVICE AND TRUMP BUTLER RALLY
Last month, an interim Senate report identified planning, communications and security failures in the U.S. Secret Service's efforts during former President Donald Trump's July rally that "directly contributed" to the assassination attempt against him.

The joint investigation of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations indicated that several Secret Service officials experienced chronic problems with their radios on July 13. In one notable instance, a Secret Service countersniper was offered a local radio to help with communications through the day, but he didn't have time to pick it up because he was working on "fixing" his own Secret Service radio. Because of failures of radios on site in Butler, the special agent in charge gave away his radio to a lead advance agent and went without one for the rest of the day, the report said.

Trump's detail now travels with a radio communications specialist from the U.S. Secret Service's Office of the Chief Information Officer, whose primary purpose is to share real-time information with Trump's team, as relayed on all law enforcement radio channels, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

ADDRESSING BUTLER RALLY SITE VULNERABILITIES
A number of tall buildings lining the perimeter of the Butler Farm Show create line-of-sight vulnerabilities for Trump. The Secret Service is mitigating that threat with stage enhancements, rows of farm vehicles parked around the rally site and bulletproof glass, according to the sources.

Unlike the July 13 rally, members of the U.S. Secret Service, Pennsylvania State Police and Butler County Police will sit together in a unified command post.

TRUMP IN BUTLER AMID ASSASSINATION THREATS FROM IRAN
The two attempts on Trump's life followed the arrest of a Pakistani national with ties to Iran, charged with allegedly plotting a murder-for-hire scheme targeting current and former U.S. officials, including Trump.

Matthew Olsen, head of the Department of Justice's National Security Division, said in an interview with CBS News Thursday that the U.S. government has been "intensely tracking Iranian lethal plotting efforts targeting former and current U.S. government officials — and that includes the former president."

Olsen added, "I would say that we are very concerned — gravely concerned — about Iranian plotting." Last month, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence briefed Trump on "real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him."

"I think we've been very, very clear that that is a threat vector that we are extremely concerned about monitoring very closely, working to gain as much information and fidelity on as we possibly can," a senior DHS official told CBS News in a reporter briefing, Wednesday. "That is a U.S. government wide effort to involve all of our partners across the United States government."

A Homeland Threat Assessment released by the Department of Homeland Security Wednesday stated that Iran "maintains its intent to kill US government officials it deems responsible for the 2020 death of its Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)-Quds Force Commander and designated foreign terrorist Qassem Soleimani," an action carried out during the Trump administration.

"It is no secret that this is a challenge we are confronting on a daily basis right now," the DHS senior official added.

Authorities anticipate roughly 25,000-30,000 will be attending the rally Saturday.

Firefighters Union Snubs Kamala Harris with Non-Endorsement after JD Vance Speech at Convention
[BREITBART] The International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) has snubbed the Harris-Walz ticket with a non-endorsement — news which comes after Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) spoke at their event in August.

IAFF President Edward Kelly made the announcement on Thursday following an executive board meeting, where the determination was made.

''Today, the IAFF Executive Board, by a margin of 1.2 percent, voted to not endorse a candidate in the 2024 presidential election,'' he announced, noting that IAFF took ''unprecedented steps to hear out members' views on the candidates and the policy issues that matter most to them'' over the last year.

''As we have over our 106-year history, the IAFF will continue its work to improve the lives of firefighters and their families,'' Kelly continued, contending that the Executive Board determined that ''we are better able to advocate for our members and make progress on the issues that matter to them if we, as a union, are standing shoulder-to-shoulder.''

''This decision, which we took very seriously, is the best way to preserve and strengthen our unity,'' he continued, encouraging members to get out and ''make their voices heard in the upcoming election.''

Deadly Marburg virus outbreak in Rwanda has health officials on high alert
[FoxNews] There are currently no treatments or vaccines for the highly fatal Ebola-like virus

Amid reports of a deadly viral outbreak in Central Africa, researchers are reportedly scrambling to develop treatments and vaccines to combat the Marburg virus.

As of Sept. 30, 2024, the country of Rwanda — which is bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo — has reported 27 cases of the virus and nine subsequent deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Most of the cases have affected health care workers at two health facilities in the city of Kigali, the same source stated.

The patients are being cared for in hospitals, as noted by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Sept. 29.

"Contact tracing is underway, with 300 contacts under follow-up," WHO stated.

This is the first time the Marburg virus has been reported in Rwanda.

WHAT IS THE MARBURG VIRUS?
Similar to Ebola, Marburg is a "rare but severe hemorrhagic fever" that can cause "serious illness and death," with a 20% to 90% fatality rate.

There have not been any confirmed cases in the United States, and the CDC says the risk of infection in the country is low.

"It is highly fatal in humans and there is no treatment — and unlike Ebola, there is no vaccine," Dr. Marc Siegel, senior medical analyst for Fox News and clinical professor of medicine at NYU Langone Medical Center, told Fox News Digital.

"It is very similar to Ebola in that it causes hemorrhagic fever," he added.

Marburg is "difficult to catch," Siegel noted, as it requires close contact with bodily secretions.
Wasn't a big Ebola issue with the ritual washing of the bodies before burial? Same here?

Harris to meet Arab American leaders in Flint, Michigan, on Friday, sources say
[IsraelTimes] US Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with leaders from the Arab American community in Flint, Michigan, on Friday, as her presidential campaign seeks to win back voters angry at U.S. support for Israel’s wars in Gaza and Lebanon, two sources say.

Meeting participants include leaders from the Muslim advocacy group Emgage, which recently endorsed Harris, the American Task Force on Lebanon, and a long-standing friend of Harris, Hala Hijazi, who has lost dozens of family members in Gaza, said the sources, who did not wish to be named.

Other such as Jim Zogby, founder of the Arab American Institute and a longtime member of the Democratic National Committee, said he declined the invitation. Leaders from the Uncommitted National Movement protest campaign said they have not been invited to the meeting.

“I wish she would meet with leaders from the community who haven’t endorsed her or support her,” said one of the sources.

#6  After action report from the Times of Israel:

The meeting is one of several attempts in recent days to mend fences with Muslim and Arab voters, who resoundingly backed Democrat Joe Biden in 2020 but could withhold their votes from Harris in numbers that would cost her the key state of Michigan.

During the half-hour meeting, Harris expressed her concern on the scale of suffering in Gaza, civilian casualties and displacement in Lebanon and discussed efforts to end the war, according to a campaign official. She also discussed efforts to prevent a regional war, the official added.

Wa’el Alzayat, CEO of Emgage Action which recently endorsed her, said participants shared their deep disappointment with the US handling of the crisis and called on her to do everything in her power to end the war and reset US policy in the region.

“Emgage Action asked Vice President Harris to impress upon President Biden the urgency of bringing an immediate end to the violence” in Gaza and Lebanon, Alzayat said. “She agrees that this war needs to end.”

Ed Gabriel, president of the American Task Force on Lebanon, said the meeting included a good “give and take” on the issues, including “the need for a ceasefire, and the support needed from the United States and its allies to address the humanitarian crisis, the presidential leadership void in Lebanon, and the important role of the Lebanese Armed Forces.”

“We heard a lot of compassion on her side. We’ll see what happens,” he said. “This was a valuable two-sided exchange, and we made important progress in our relationship. We’re going to continue to meet.”

Other participants included Assad Turfe, deputy county executive of Wayne County, Michigan’s most populous county.

Hala Hijazi, a longtime friend of Harris who has lost dozens of members of her family in Gaza, was unable to attend.

Harris’s meeting on Friday comes on the heels of other efforts by her team this week. On Thursday, her vice presidential pick, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, promised on a Zoom call with Muslim voters that Muslims would have an equal role in a Harris administration.

Harris’s national security adviser, Phil Gordon, virtually met with leaders from the Arab and Muslim community on Wednesday and said the administration supports a ceasefire in Gaza, diplomacy in Lebanon and stability in the West Bank.

Critics say Biden and Harris have done too little to stop Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, while continuing to supply Israel with weapons to carry it out.

Some Arab Americans believe Harris’s refusal to distance herself from President Biden’s policies in the Middle East, as Israel escalates its attacks, will cost her in November.

“Harris is going to lose Michigan,” said Ali Dagher, a Lebanese American attorney and community leader. “I will not be voting for Kamala Harris. No one I know will vote for her. I cannot find a single person in the community who supports her.”

(PTI) supporters are going to "attack Islamabad with weapons".

"This is not the right way and we will not allow this to happen," the security czar said while talking to journalists in Islamabad on Friday.

with hoards of the PTI workers are travelling towards the federal capital amid visits of foreign dignitaries.

Naqvi said he had requested the PTI a day ago as well "not to hold rally for now". The minister added that he would not let anyone damage properties.

On Thursday, he also warned the PTI against holding the public gathering as visits of foreign dignitaries, including the Malaysian prime minister, were planned in Islamabad.

Amid its anti-government campaign, the former ruling party is holding protests for the ''independence'' of the judiciary and the release of the former prime minister from jail.

The protest coincides with the final day of the Malaysian PM Anwar Ibrahim's visit to Pakistain and ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. The authorities have already enforced Section 144 and ''the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act, 2024'', regulating holding of public assemblies at certain places in Islamabad.

''The PTI's top leadership should review its protest call [—] No one will be allowed for an onrush on Islamabad,'' the security czar had said while addressing a presser along with officials of the federal police.

In today's news conference, he said the security force deployed by the government did not wield guns, whereas "you could see in videos and pictures that those coming towards Islamabad are carrying arms".

''The KP chief minister [Ali Amin Gandapur] is a Pak. He should think what he's doing. He has an entire province under his command; he should hold protest wherever he wants,'' Naqvi said, adding that they had the right to hold protest, but it was not the right way to do it.

Colin Kaepernick clarifies reports on Jim Harbaugh''s offer to join Chargers
[NYPOST] Los Angeles Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh still appears to have a close relationship with his former quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.

Harbaugh and Kaepernick spent the 2011—14 seasons together in San Francisco when they were both with the 49ers.

Earlier this year, Harbaugh spoke with USA Today Sports and revealed he contacted Kaepernick to explore the possibility of the former NFL quarterback joining the Chargers' coaching staff.

Harbaugh said he spoke to Kaepernick shortly after he took the head coaching job in Los Angeles. In August, Harbaugh confirmed Kaepernick would not be part of the staff for the 2024 season.

''I love Colin, but he's not going to be on the coaching staff, which is set for this year. And he's not going to be playing on the roster either,'' Harbaugh said after a Chargers practice in August.

Kaepernick made a guest appearance on ''The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'' this week, and he clarified whether he was offered a coaching role.

''It is not true,'' Kaepernick told Fallon. The former Niners star added he learned about the situation when he looked on social media.

Murders of civilians and others. Ukrainian war criminals are on trial in Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
It's not a war crime if you win the war...

by Kirill Velesov

[REGNUM] In Russia, the cases of Ukrainian war criminals continue to be considered. On October 2, the next case was submitted to the Supreme Court of the DPR for consideration on the merits. 30-year-old Denis Khmelevsky will sit in the dock.

In March 2022, when Ukrainian forces were just beginning to defend Mariupol, he fought as part of Azov (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). Khmelevsky held the position of senior machine gunner of a separate special forces unit. The DPR prosecutor's office established that the nationalist gave one of the servicemen a criminal order to kill two local residents. They were shot in the entrance of a building on Moskovskaya Street, the townspeople died on the spot.

Khmelevsky is far from the first Ukrainian militant or regular army serviceman to be held accountable in the DPR for crimes in Mariupol. The day before, the republic's Supreme Court sentenced three marines from the 36th separate brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to lengthy prison terms: 40-year-old Eskender Kudusov, 34-year-old Dmitry Braiko, and 25-year-old Bogdan Potapov.

The trio was found guilty under two articles: the murder of two people committed by an organized group, motivated by political and ideological hatred, and cruel treatment of civilians in the occupied territory. In April 2022, Potapov was at a position set up at the Ilyich Metallurgical Plant. While conducting surveillance, he noticed two civilians crossing a railway bridge. Potapov reported this by radio to Kudusov and Braiko, who gave the order to shoot the people, which Potapov did. Two people were killed.

According to the court's decision, all three will spend almost 30 years in a maximum security penal colony: Potapov and Braiko - 28, Kudusov - 29.5 years.

NEW FACTS - NEW CRIMES
It happens that Ukrainian war criminals get sentences, but over time, facts about other crimes they committed are revealed. This happened to Leonid Onupko, the commander of a company of a separate battalion of naval infantry of the same 36th brigade.

In mid-October 2023, the Supreme Court of the DPR sentenced him to life imprisonment. The prosecution proved that 46-year-old Onupko, being a captain at the time, participated in military operations in Mariupol and gave the order to open fire on a group of civilians - 10 people were killed.

All this took place in the area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold, which was nicknamed "Kadyk". It received this name because the Ukrainian military equipped their positions on the territory of a former kindergarten on Yasnopolyanskaya Street in the village of Mirny in Mariupol. It was established that one of Onupko's tasks was to prevent the evacuation of civilians, who were used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the "Azov" as a "human shield".

While in the "Garden", Onupko and his subordinates periodically detained civilians, after which they reported this to the higher command. Often, orders came from the higher command to get rid of the detainees.

Onupko's attempts to shift all the blame to other officers in court were unsuccessful for him. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment.

More than a year later, the former Marine captain was brought to the Supreme Court again. In late September, the case of another Marine, Alexander Malovichko, was heard there. In March 2022, he killed a civilian walking along Altayskaya Street in Mariupol with a sniper rifle. As the investigation found out, he received the order from Onupko. As a result, Malovichko received 24 years in a maximum security penal colony, and Onupko received another life sentence.

What are people most often judged for?

Ukrainian soldiers are being punished not only for killing civilians. Last month, three artillerymen from the 55th separate artillery brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces heard their sentences.

As established by the Supreme Court of the DPR, in February 2022, 31-year-old Daniil Vereshchaka, 24-year-old Artem Batyuta and 23-year-old Artur Sharamok were in a firing position from which they fired high-explosive fragmentation shells at the Slavyansk-Donetsk-Mariupol bridge, which is a critical infrastructure facility. As a result of the shelling, the bridge was significantly damaged, the damage amounted to 214 million rubles.

The court sentenced the three defendants to 16 years of imprisonment in a maximum security penal colony.

In general, most of the criminal cases involving Ukrainian military personnel in the DPR and LPR are related to the murder of civilians. Especially many such cases are being considered regarding the events in Mariupol in 2022. The defendants in them are both career military personnel and representatives of neo-Nazi formations such as Azov.

Another common type of criminal case concerns Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen involved in shelling civilian cities. This mainly concerns populated areas in Donbass, including episodes that have taken place since 2014.

And the third conditional group is military personnel who were members of neo-Nazi organizations. If they have no direct connection to war crimes, they are tried for participation in terrorist communities.

IDEOLOGICAL NEO-NAZI VOLUNTEERS
Criminal cases against Ukrainian military personnel are being heard not only in the DPR and LPR, but also in other Russian courts.

In September of this year, the Southern District Military Court of Rostov-on-Don heard the case of a fighter of the Aidar battalion (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) Dmitry Kistion. As a "volunteer", he participated in military operations against the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics since 2015.

Some time ago, he was detained by border guards and Russian special services in the Kursk region. A criminal case was opened against the militant under the article on participation in a terrorist organization. The court found him guilty and sentenced Kistion to 5.5 years in prison.

In March, the same court sentenced Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Dmitry Yevgan to 20 years in prison. He joined the Ukrainian army voluntarily back in 2017. In the spring of 2022, Yevgan took part in military operations in Donbass.

The court established that on April 7 of that year, the defendant was in a shelter that also housed a prisoner of war room. At some point, Yevgan decided to kill a DPR fighter who was there, stabbing him several times with a bayonet. The wounded prisoner survived and was later freed by his fellow soldiers. The would-be killer was caught and brought to trial. He will spend the next 20 years in a penal colony for attempted murder.

The "Azov" members are also being tried in Rostov-on-Don. In July, the District Military Court sentenced Ukrainian citizen Ivan Chernenko, who joined this formation in 2020, to 18 years in prison. He ended his inglorious combat career in May two years ago, when he was captured. In addition to participating in a terrorist community, he was accused of undergoing training for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities.

Nationalists from the Right Sector (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) also end up in the dock in Russian courts. One of these criminals is Dmitry Lisovets. He is also an ideological neo-Nazi who fought against the LNR and DNR militias long before the start of the SVO.

He joined the Right Sector no later than June 2016, in the village of Yuryevka in Donbass. Lisovets was assigned to the assault unit of the 8th separate battalion "Aratta", where he underwent training.

He was then sent to the Volnovakha district, to the village of Shirokino. There he was engaged in the arrangement of fortifications, carried out surveillance, and also took direct part in battles with the DPR People's Militia. Later he was sent to positions in the village of Vodyanoye.

Where and under what circumstances Lisovets was detained was not disclosed in court. It is only known that he was arrested by operatives of the Rostov Department of the UFSB. The court sentenced Lisovets to 16 years of imprisonment, three of which he will spend in prison, and the remaining term in a general regime penal colony.

RUSSIAN IN THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE
In addition to Ukrainian citizens, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who hold Russian passports are also being tried in the Russian Federation.

Several months ago, one of these trials ended in the Supreme Court of the DPR. As the FSB Directorate for the Tver Region established, a native of this region moved to Ukraine, where he joined the local territorial defense. There, he rose to the rank of deputy chief of staff of one of the units.

The Russian took direct part in military operations against the Russian Armed Forces and was captured during one of the clashes on the territory of the LPR. The man was found guilty of treason and sentenced to 15 years in a maximum security penal colony with a year of restricted freedom after serving his sentence.

Rumors of Budanov and Umerov's resignation confirmed in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A joint photo of the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, with the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirms rumors of their imminent resignation.

This opinion was expressed on October 4 by Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is in custody in a pretrial detention center on suspicion of treason.

“The fact that Zelensky published a joint photo with Budanov and Umerov can only mean that their days are numbered,” Dubinsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Rada deputy also recalled that similar joint photos had previously been published shortly before the resignations of former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny and former Prime Minister of the country Oleksiy Honcharuk. According to Dubinsky, such "hints" from Zelensky may be related to some personal problem of his.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Forbes-Ukraine publication reported earlier that the office of the head of the Kiev regime was discussing the possible dismissals of Budanov and Umerov. It was noted that the issue of the resignation of the head of the GUR was being discussed against the backdrop of his difficult relationship with the head of Zelensky's office, Andriy Yermak. According to the source, the possible removal of the current commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, from office is also being considered.

The first reports of Budanov's possible resignation appeared in the Ukrainian media at the end of September. Citing a source in the security forces, they claimed that the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleg Ivaschenko, was being considered for his replacement.

White House reporters ask zero questions about Hurricane Helene in surprise opportunity to press Biden
[FoxNews] The deadly hurricane has claimed at least 230 lives

Reporters had a unique opportunity to question President Biden when he made a surprise appearance at the White House press briefing on Friday, but didn't ask about the historic disaster unfolding in the Southeast in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

It was the first time that Biden appeared at a White House press briefing since taking office. The president spoke briefly about the suspended port workers strike and Friday's positive jobs numbers, and he announced that he may request additional money from Congress to fund Hurricane Helene relief efforts. But there was no follow-up from the press on hurricane relief.

After thanking the president for his presence, the first reporter asked about Republicans casting doubt on his economic numbers, saying, "Florida Sen. Marco Rubio described today's jobs report as having fake numbers. What do you make of that? And how worried are you that many Americans are hearing that the jobs numbers aren't real?"

The crisis in the Middle East was the biggest topic, with questions about Biden's comments about strikes on Iranian oil facilities, Israeli plans to retaliate, possible U.S. sanctions, and worries about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu trying to influence the U.S. election.

Election security and the peaceful transfer of power were also top of mind for reporters.

"The election is a month away. One, I'd like to know how you're feeling about how this election is going. And then also, do you have confidence that it will be a free and fair election and that it will be peaceful?" one reporter asked. "Are you making any preparations, getting security briefings related to domestic security?"

The only mention of Hurricane Helene, with a death toll topping 230, was in a question about Vice President Kamala Harris' role in the administration.

"There have obviously been a number of crises that the country has been facing over the past several days with the hurricane, with the port strike, with the situation in the Middle East. Can you talk about how your vice president, who is running for the presidency, has worked on these crises and what role she has played over the past several days?" a reporter asked.

The Biden-Harris administration has come under fire from former President Trump for the federal response to the devastation left by Helene, already one of the deadliest hurricanes this century.

The White House has pushed back hard against these criticisms, emphasizing that Biden has coordinated the federal response, including approving emergency declarations and deploying 1,000 active-duty soldiers to support search-and-rescue efforts. More than 4,800 personnel from FEMA and other agencies have been deployed to North Carolina and neighboring states impacted by Helene. Additionally, FEMA has shipped over 8.5 million meals, more than 7 million liters of water, 150 generators and over 220,000 tarps to aid response efforts, according to the White House.

As of Friday, the federal government has provided more than $45 million in Individual assistance to survivors affected by the storm, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, including in the form of one-time $750 payments from FEMA to qualified applicants in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.

While Biden ended his own press conference dry spell, Harris has not held a formal news conference since emerging as the Democratic nominee when Biden dropped out in July.

2 IDF soldiers killed, 24 wounded in Iraq drone attack on Golan Heights base
[IsraelTimes] Military probing why sirens did not sound for second explosive UAV launched by Iran-backed militia at northern Israel

Two Israeli soldiers were killed and 24 were wounded in a drone attack by an Iran-backed militia in Iraq early Thursday morning, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Friday.

The slain soldiers were named as:

  • Sgt. Daniel Aviv Haim Sofer, 19, a signals officer cadet in the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, from Ashkelon.

  • Cpl. Tal Dror, 19, an IT specialist with the Golani Brigade’s 13th Battalion, from Jerusalem.

According to an IDF probe, two explosive-laden drones were launched from Iraq in the attack, one of which was shot down by air defenses and the second impacted an army base in the northern Golan Heights several minutes later.

Sirens had sounded in several Golan communities when the first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) entered Israeli airspace, but the probe found that there was an apparent failure to detect the second drone in time, and therefore alerts were not activated and the soldiers on the base did not have time to seek shelter.

The IDF was continuing to probe why sirens did not sound.

In addition to the two slain soldiers, another 24 were wounded in the attack, including two seriously, one moderately, and 21 lightly.

The Iran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq took responsibility for the attack, claiming to have launched drones at three targets in northern Israel.

It was the latest in a spate of near-daily UAV attacks in recent weeks claimed by the Iran-backed group, which came as fighting has sharply escalated between Israel and another Iranian proxy, Lebanon’s Hezbollah terror group.

Thursday’s attack marked the first time that the Iraqi group caused serious casualties in Israel.

Separately, the IDF said Friday that overnight, a drone that entered Israeli airspace in the Beit She’an Valley was shot down by the Israeli Air Force.

The IDF said the drone had flown to Israel from “the east,” a term it has previously used to refer to attacks by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

The same coalition of pro-Iran armed groups in Iraq has claimed to have launched numerous drones at Israel amid the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and the fighting in the north, most of which failed to cross Israel’s border, were downed by air defenses, or hit open areas.

Last week, a drone launched from Iraq struck the Eilat port, causing damage and lightly wounding two people.

The Grand Turk
Under the guise of fighting against Zionism, Erdogan solves his own problems
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kamran Gasanov

[REGNUM] Iran's latest attacks have once again shaken the Middle East and the rest of the world. Emotions are mixed: some countries are happy that Israel has finally "got what it deserved," while others in the West express solidarity with the Jewish state. Still others fear becoming a victim or being drawn into someone else's confrontation. Where does Turkey fit into this complex equation with so many variables?

It is logical to assume that the Turkish government and the majority of the population, who have long been sympathetic to Hamas, should rejoice. Iran is taking revenge for Palestine, among other things, and therefore everything is according to the system "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." But is this really so?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not say anything specific about the Iranian missile attack. There were no words of direct support, although some media outlets came out with the headline "Erdogan approved Iran's missile attack against Israel."

Literally, the Turkish president stated the following: " Israeli aggression includes Turkey, so Ankara will resist this state terrorism with all available means." That is, the emphasis here is on Israel itself, on the fact that it is the aggressor, and the aggressor can and must be resisted. Iran's support was only indirect.

The junior partner of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Devlet Bahçeli, representing the nationalists, also managed to speak out : “Those who think that the war will be limited to the Middle East are mistaken.” And in this phrase, support for Iran is felt even less.

Bahceli echoes what experienced world politicians, including Sergey Lavrov, say : there is a high probability of a number of players, including the United States, being drawn into the war. Turkey is a NATO member and has an American military base on its territory, so escalation puts Ankara before a difficult choice.

It would be strange to expect Bahçeli to have sympathy for Tehran, since he represents the MHP party, which idealizes the “Turan” project, to which its ideologists also include the 30-million-strong Azerbaijani-Turkic diaspora in Iran.

Turkey cannot condemn Iran either, because then Ankara would de facto recognize the legitimacy of Israel's actions, which are a priori illegitimate for it. And if we leave aside sympathies and antipathies, the Erdogan administration believes that Israel is objectively to blame for the escalation.

By the way, before the missile strike on Israel, the Yeni Şafak newspaper reported that the US, via Turkey, allegedly asked the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) not to carry out a large-scale attack on Israel, and Ankara itself called on the parties to avoid a major war. Later, the Turkish Foreign Ministry gave an explanation and confirmed that the country had indeed tried to act as a mediator, calling on both Washington and Tehran to make balanced decisions.

“We will continue to make efforts to prevent the launch of a process that will cause irreparable damage to the stability of our region and lead to even greater conflict at the global level,” the press service of the Turkish diplomatic department said.

In the end, no one listened to Turkey, the US was unable to rein in Benjamin Netanyahu, and Iran struck. At the same time, the Iranians, as diplomatic sources told Yeni Şafak, informed their Turkish colleagues in advance about the planned strike.

If we rewind the clock a little further, we can find additional signs of indirect support for the Iranians: Hakan Fidan's ministry blamed the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) after the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The statement was symbolic, even if it was dictated only by Turkey's general anti-Israeli position. Ankara then in fact supported not only Iran, but also Syria, despite the fact that relations with it have not been restored to this day.

BETTING ON THE SUNNIS
It would seem that Dolmabahce's position on Lebanon is more obvious and clear, there are no half-tones or hints in it - Israel invaded a sovereign country, period. The Turkish Foreign Ministry perceived the start of the ground operation in Lebanon as a "violation of sovereignty and territorial integrity" and an "illegal attempt at occupation." Erdogan, on the other hand, harshly called the Israeli shelling of Lebanon genocide. But there are nuances here too.

Erdogan does not sympathize with Hezbollah, does not comment on the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah. And where would sympathy come from if Turkish PMCs and the pro-Turkish armed opposition in Syria fought against Assad, supported by Hezbollah, Iran and pro-Iranian groups?

Hezbollah is part of the Shiite project, and Erdogan is betting on the Sunnis, who make up almost half of Lebanon's population. Therefore, by condemning Israel and sending humanitarian aid to Lebanon, the "Turkish Sultan" is addressing his support primarily to them.

Since the Gaza war began last October, evidence has mounted of Erdogan’s support for other pro-Iranian forces, such as the Houthis. When the latter began attacking Western ships and the US and UK launched strikes in Yemen, Erdogan accused the US of trying to turn the Red Sea into a “sea of blood.”

If you dig even deeper, you can find many other similar examples. But in terms of the general clash between Israel and the Iranian “Axis of Resistance,” of all the victims and targets of Israeli aggression, Erdogan sincerely and most of all feels sorry for Hamas. This sympathy stems from ideology: Hamas is the “Muslim Brotherhood” (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), and Erdogan’s AKP party is the same “brotherhood.”

Türkiye winks at the rest – Hezbollah, the Houthis, the damaged Iranian consulate and Iran itself in general – exclusively in the context of the confrontation with Israel.

"AGGRESSION AT THE DOORSTEP"
It is curious that, in addition to declaring lofty and somewhat idealistic universal (condemnation of genocide) and pan-Islamic (protection of Muslims of the world) principles, the Turkish government has recently switched to more down-to-earth rhetoric. Erdogan, representatives of the AKP, Fidan and others say that Israel threatens Turkey itself and if it is not stopped, “we will be next.”

"After Palestine and Lebanon, the Israeli leadership, obsessed with the insane idea of a 'promised land,' will target our homelands. Occupation, terror and aggression are already at our doorstep. Before us is not a state bound by law, but a gang of murderers, feeding on blood and fattened by occupation," Erdogan said, commenting on the IDF offensive in Lebanon.

Obviously, fears about Israeli aggression against Turkey are exaggerated. Israel has enough enemies without having to fight the second most powerful army in NATO. And they have no territorial claims against each other. Here, the AKP and its leader are playing more for the domestic public, trying once again to consolidate a society worried about the economic crisis, the influx of refugees and other social problems.

While placing special emphasis on Turkey's defense, its government will not forget about the Islamic factor. Hence the president's latest warnings about Israel's intentions to expand into Syria and Lebanon and create a "promised land" between the Tigris and Euphrates. To counter these plans, Erdogan calls on fellow believers throughout the region to create an "Islamic alliance."

"Islamic countries must give the strongest possible response to the persecution in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. As Muslims, we must lead the world in preventing oppression," he says.

"SOLIDARITY LINE"
The Turkish leader wants to use his personal example to convince Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Syria and other countries to impose their will on Israel. At the end of July, he admitted that, "if necessary," the Turkish Armed Forces could enter Israel and Libya. The Arab world listens to the Turk, applauds him, but is in no hurry to take any action.

Erdogan probably understands himself that neither Egypt, nor the KSA, nor the UAE will join the anti-Israeli coalition. But Erdogan would not be Erdogan if he left empty-handed. Pan-Islamic rhetoric helps him solve his problems with his former opponents.

How else can one find a common language with the Egyptian general As-Sisi, who was not recognized by the Turks just yesterday, or with the still unrecognized Bashar al-Assad, if not through uniting around a rhetoric that is understandable to them, of sympathy for the suffering of Muslims in Gaza, Lebanon and the entire Middle East.

Under the guise of fighting Zionism and Israel, Turkey is holding its first summits in 13 years with the Arab League and Egypt, and is preparing to do the same with Damascus. Erdogan says outright that recent moves to normalize relations with Damascus and Cairo are aimed at forming a “line of solidarity” against the Israeli threat.

In short, the Turkish president has condemned, with varying degrees of severity, all of Israel's attacks against Iran and its allies. And in a political sense, the government in Ankara will continue to sympathize with the "Axis of Resistance" in their fight against the Jewish state, because it is also fighting for Hamas.

At the same time, both members of the ruling coalition in Turkey and the cabinet, despite all their hatred for Netanyahu, do not want the situation to get out of control.

While blaming the US for failing to contain Bibi's ambitions, the Turkish Foreign Ministry is more than willing to act as a mediator between Washington and Tehran to soften the impact of Iranian "retaliatory strikes."

Turkey does not need a major war in the Middle East, especially in the context of the lira crisis. Turkey is laying a transport route to the Persian Gulf through Iraq (the "Development Path"), wants to be a logistics, food and energy hub, needs investments from the UAE and KSA, and is expanding projects with Egypt.

War and instability will destroy all these financial and economic plans.

At the same time, it is worth remembering that, just like Israel, Iran is perceived by the Turks as a competitor in the struggle for influence in the Middle East, the Mediterranean and North Africa.

It’s just that today the goals of Iran and Turkey have coincided, and the declared fight against Zionism meets the economic, domestic and foreign policy interests of both the country and Erdogan’s ruling party.

The Russian world beyond the Torsky ledge. The legacy of three centuries awaits liberation
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Yaroslav Karpikov

[REGNUM] Since 2022, the front in the northeast of the DPR has formed the so-called Torsky salient. It is named after the ancient village of Torskoye, which is located immediately behind the line of combat contact, in the still occupied territory.

Since the end of the year before last and up to now there have been battles on the salient - positional, but very active. Torskoye regularly appears in the reports.

To the east, in the rear of our troops, is the city of Kremennaya (LPR). It was liberated at the beginning of the special operation, in April 2022.

In August of the following year, after heavy fighting, a local Ukrainian "counteroffensive" was repelled here. But Torskoye is still in enemy hands.

Although the recent capture of the neighboring Luhansk village of Makeyevka (the “namesake” of the city in the DPR) gives hope that the “frozen” front line will shift, opening up the possibility of liberating both the ancient village of Torskoye and the strategically important city of Seversk.

So, Kremennaya returned to the Russian world, Torskoye remains on the "Ukrainian" side. Although, let us note, historically - judging by the documents - Kremennaya was populated by Little Russians, and the village, and then the settlement of Torskaya - by Great Russians.

This was a common occurrence in the Sloboda "Ukrainian lands". Here, "Great Russian" and "Little Russian" villages and settlements existed side by side for centuries, but their inhabitants preserved their way of life and did not take spouses from other social and ethnic groups.

The villages where the Great Russians lived were a kind of enclaves. They appeared "at the edge", at the border of the Russian state, where service people from the central Russian regions moved. And then, when the borders of the empire moved far to the south, these villages, settlements and towns found themselves, albeit "in the rear", but in a "Little Russian" environment. Among the surviving enclaves, the village of Torskoye is one of the oldest. Even according to the 2001 census, the composition of the population here looked like this: first Russians, then Ukrainians.

HEXAGON AT THE BLACK STALLION
The first settlers - natives of Great Russia - appeared here around 1767, during the reign of Catherine II. This date was found by indirect evidence. The archives contain a general land survey plan, which was drawn up after the Patriotic War of 1812 by a certain Levitsky, a land surveyor of the Slobodsko-Ukrainian (future Kharkov) province.

But the information for these maps was collected much earlier, under Catherine the Great. In fact, the plans of all private, church and state property of the Russian Empire compiled at that time were the equivalent of the "cadastral maps" that we still use today. And so, in the upper cartouche (inscription) to the plan of the village of Torskoy, it is written: the first survey, which recorded that people lived here, was "carried out" here in 1767. Thus, Torskoye is the same age as the empire's rapid advance to the south. The village is older than Yekaterinoslav, founded in 1776, not to mention Odessa (founded in 1795).

Why these places began to be actively developed in the sixties of the 18th century is clear from another document: "The soil of the land is black earth. The best grain will grow from the grain sown on it."

But the name itself - Torskaya or Torskoye - appeared later, when a new wave of settlers settled here. They were from Slavyansk. And this city received its current name only in 1794 - before that, for more than a hundred years, the local settlement (founded under Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich ) was called the Tor fortress. The people who moved here from Slavyansk belonged to a class with an interesting history - single-court dwellers.

This is what they called those whose ancestors were "border guards" who defended the Russian kingdom from the Poles and nomads of the Wild Field. Once upon a time, grandfathers and great-grandfathers - archers, Cossacks, boyar children - were sent by the tsar's order to the "frontier", which their descendants continued to develop.

Odnodvortsy, although they ran a peasant economy, were a privileged class. They owned the land on which they lived, were never in serfdom, and what's more, wealthy odnodvortsy could own estates with serfs themselves.

A census of Torskaya residents from the late 18th century has been preserved, and the surnames there are the same as those of the single-homesteaders from Tor-Slavyansk. Judging by the sound of these surnames, they are clearly not Little Russian: from the Alferovs and Aseyevs to the Tararyevs, Shilovs and Shchetinins. Even the Khokhlins most likely come from the central provinces.

A description of how the single-homesteaders from Tor settled Torskoye can be found in the travel notes left by Academician Ioann Anton Gildenshtedt. Note that the personality itself is remarkable. This German scientist in Russian service is known not only for his report on his journey through Slobozhanshchina, but also for explaining the origin of black soil and the nature of typhus epidemics (and was also one of the first Europeans to study the customs of the highlanders of Chechnya, Ossetia and Dagestan “in the field”).

In other archival documents, Torskoye is called a "dacha", but of course not in the modern sense of "six hundred square meters for a vegetable garden". A dacha is a large plot of land for a settlement. Here it was a hexagon, cut from the west by the flow of the Black Stallion River - which then served as the border between the Izyum and Kupyansk districts. By the way, even now the valley of the Zherebets River has become a border - the front line runs here.

"WOMEN AND MEN KEPT THE GREAT RUSSIAN CLOTHES"
The already mentioned academician Gildenshtedt, having visited Torskaya and the surrounding single-courtyard villages, made short sketches about the life and everyday life of the people he met. He noted: the habits, clothing and way of doing business of the Little Russians and Great Russian single-courtyard villages differed. Even though both had lived side by side for decades and sold the fruits of their labor together at fairs “in Lugan,” in Novoaydar and Bakhmut.

"The women of the single-court dwellers, like the men, retained the Great Russian clothing without any change," the German scholar noted. The single-court dwellers' men did not shave their beards, like their ancestors in their "historical homeland," and wore caftans made of gray or white cloth.

"Instead of boots, they wear bast shoes, which are made from elm or linden bast. Women also walk either in bast shoes or barefoot," noted Gildenstedt.
Bast shoes are woven from the fibrous inner tree bark, similar in style to espadrilles. They are inexpensive, quickly made, and disposable — peasant footwear.
Girls and married women "put on a sleeveless sarafan over their shirt and gird themselves with a belt." On their heads, the Torsk "ladies" wore "a low cylindrical headdress made of red and white material, and embroidered or trimmed with galloon in front and back." This is a "soroka" - the same headdress worn by peasant women in the Tula, Nizhny Novgorod and Voronezh provinces.

Girls tied their heads with a white, rather than a colored scarf, braided their hair into one flat braid, and preferred a string of coral beads as jewelry rather than “ducats and monists.”

But the Torsk settlers still borrowed some things from their Little Russian neighbors.

For example, in the time of Gildenstedt they no longer built smoky huts, but erected huts in the Little Russian style. But still - "the Great Russian custom is to lay the floor with boards, while in Little Russian huts the floor is simply clay." They no longer harnessed "horsepower" to the plough, but oxen, and the ploughs were made in the Little Russian style. But they still rode horses, while their neighbors moved only on oxen.

The dialect of the Little Russians differed from that of the Great Russians (odnodvortsy). Despite all attempts at Ukrainization in the 1920s and 1930s in the Ukrainian SSR, with the introduction of a general standardized education, the residents of Torskoye were able to preserve their Great Russian dialect until the 21st century.

The author's great-grandfather, a native of Torskoye, born back in 1905, used "obsolete" words in his speech. Even now, among the natives of the Great Russian enclaves of Sumy, Kharkov, Donetsk, Lugansk regions, one can hear words such as: "tsaberka" - a bucket, "tyarpuh" - a burdock or simpleton, "neopetskuvaty" - cunning or smart, "ryshtak" - a drain trough, "yoynyy” - his, "vekhtik" - a rag, "porotyanki” - pants, etc.

HOW THE DESCENDANTS OF SERVICE PEOPLE BECAME COSSACKS AGAIN
As mentioned above, the ancestors of the single-court dwellers included Cossacks, and they themselves were free people. This class again entered the sovereign's service in 1787-1796. Then, the "Ekaterinoslav Cossack Host" was formed from the single-court dwellers of the Yekaterinoslav and Kharkov viceroyalties (including residents of the village of Torskaya).

The idea of creating an analogue of the Don Cossack army from single-court dwellers and military inhabitants of the southern viceroyalties - Slobozhanshchina and Novorossiya - belonged to His Serene Highness Prince Grigory Potemkin, who highly valued the qualities of single-court dwellers.

The village of Torskaya, like the neighboring single-household settlements (the settlement of Sukhareva, the village of Yampolovka - today's settlement of Yampol and other settlements), turned into a stanitsa, and the male residents began to serve in the Cossack service according to the model of the Don Army.

During this period, the village of Torskaya was part of the Bakhmut district of the Yekaterinoslav viceroyalty. According to the 1795 census, there were 203 male and 222 female souls in the village of Torskaya. All residents of Torskaya were parishioners of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the neighboring settlement of Sukhareva (three miles to the south), and when for some reason this church closed, they became parishioners of the "Little Russian" or "Cherkasy" St. George Church in another settlement, Popovka.

But, by the way, not all villagers were strong in faith - judging by the archives, in the first decade of the 19th century, the teachings of the Dukhobors (which were considered heresy) spread among the single-householders, and some of the settlers were “transferred” to the Melitopol district of the Taurida province.
The Dukhobors were Christian pacifists who believed in personal revelation rather than Orthodox Christian priests and ritual. Many emigrated to Canada at the beginning of the 20th century, where they can still be found today.
At the turn of 1798-1799, the residents of Torskaya were finally returned to the class of single-homesteaders from the Cossacks, and the settlement turned from a "stanitsa" back into a "village". But the authorities did not forget about the residents of Torskaya.

DESCENDANTS OF RUSSIA'S DEFENDERS AWAIT LIBERATION
At the very beginning of the reign of Alexander I, in 1802, several families of Tortsy - the Dyatlovs, Igolkins, Khokhlins, Shilovs - were resettled to the Caucasian line, to the village of Ladozhskaya. Now this is the Ust-Labinsk district of the Krasnodar region, but at that time these foothills were another "frontier" - this time on the border with the lands of the Circassian highlanders.

Thus, the single-homesteaders from Torskoye continued the tradition of their ancestors, who defended the Russian borders, including from the Cherkasy (as the Cossacks were called, including those in the service of the Polish king). Torskoye became a "donor" for the Caucasian line for a long time.

The upheavals of modern times did not bypass the settlements on the Black Stallion. Kharkov province was the arena of battles of the Civil War.

And later, by decision of the party leadership, this territory, like other lands of Slobozhanshchina and Novorossiya, was “voluntarily-forcibly” integrated into Soviet Ukraine - although the leaders of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic tried to defend a different opinion.

The stone Ascension Church in Torskoye, according to some documents, “ceased to function” in 1919, according to others, it was closed during collectivization. In 1941-1943, these places, like the entire Donbass, experienced Nazi occupation, and since 2014 have become the object of Kyiv’s “anti-terrorist operation.”

In May and September-October 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive on the nearest settlements - the cities of Krasny Liman and Svyatogorsk, the village of Yampol, and the village of Bogorodichnoye. And, as mentioned above, the front line stopped for a long time near Torskoye.

Military observers often make fun of months-long battles for some forgotten village. However, one only has to touch upon its history - and what is happening appears differently. The battles on the Torsky ledge have a symbolic meaning. These are battles for the reunification of the entire Russian people with a tiny but integral part of it, which by the will of fate was cut off from its historical homeland.

#1  "reunification of the entire Russian people"

Ukrainians are not Russians. They don't want to be "reunited" with those who obliterate their country.

#2  Ukrainians are not Russians.

A view that, as I understand, was long popular in Germany.

The Ukrainian view - taught in their schools - that they are the real Russians, whereas "Russians" are Tatars.

The (prevailing) view in Russia is that Ukraine is Russia's retarded sibling - what cannot be allowed out on it's own. I must say that the events of the last 33 years are most consistent with Russian view.

Ugledar Aftermath: Ukrainian infantry is dying out as a species
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

[VK] There is total crap at the front, the infantry is dying out as a species, only a miracle can save us, - General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Only a miracle can save Ukraine, because there is collapse and ruin at the front, the infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is dying out as a species.

This was stated on the channel of the former spokesman of the banned in the Russian Federation "Right Sector" Borislav Bereza by the former deputy secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, former deputy commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhiy Krivonos, the correspondent of "PolitNavigator" reports.

According to Krivonos, the government is lying to the population about the state of affairs at the front.

🗣"To put it in one word, it's total crap. The reality is that offensive actions by small units from a squad to a company in different parts of the front are actively carried out by the Muscovite army. We need to understand that only a miracle can save Ukraine at this stage, if we do not draw real conclusions from the situation and do not change our attitude to what is happening in our country.

The fact that the government is telling one thing, and the front is telling something completely different, is not the first day or the first month, but now the situation has reached the point where it will soon be quite difficult to fight, because the infantry, as the infantrymen themselves said, is starting to die out as a branch of the military. Because there is no one to fight, nothing to fight with, nowhere to fight,” Krivonos said.

And then the battalion commander shot himself
To understand the realities of the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Ugledar. Ukrainian war correspondent Kiriyenko-Merinova.

“The fighters were told to take up positions. Although the 123rd Nikolaev Territorial Defense Brigade is nearby, which simply refuses to enter. This unit was supposed to support the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade in Ugledar. But the infantry fled. And then the battalion commander shot himself.
Territorial Defense units can be classified as militia.
There are seven battalions in the brigade. In several of them, after the battles around Ugledar, there was simply no infantry left. Now, in such a state, the brigade must become a LBS. I think you can imagine what the moral and psychological state of the fighters is. Even the commanders are writing reports about their removal from command.”
LBS stands for line of combat contact
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported the capture of 44 prisoners in Ugledar. The rumors about 800-900 prisoners were obviously the result of the excessive fantasies of some comrades.

The enemy suffered its main losses in the Ugledar area in killed soldiers (today it was also stated that a number of battalions of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade were simply left without infantry), which he himself admitted during the garrison's agony and about which there has been whining in Ukrainian social networks for several days now. Plus, an unspecified number of personnel deserted, which was also admitted by the enemy.

Several stories in Rantburg's May, 2023 archives refer to Zaluzhny. This is the most prominent one.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces battalion commander in Yuzhno-Donetsk shot himself out of hopelessness
With the fall of Ugledar, the self-exposure session continues. Ukrainian journalist Yulia Kiriyenko-Merinova, who works near the LBS, complains that the surviving units of the "tired, crippled, with losses" 72nd Motorized Rifle Brigade were not given a day to rest.

Meanwhile, units of the 29th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Armed Forces are moving further north, towards Bogoyavlenka. After which the road to Kurakhovo opens, which we are approaching from three sides at once. Something tells me that they will not storm it head-on.

According to regnum.ru the Ukrainian battalion commander was identified:
Ukrainian Armed Forces Battalion Commander Commits Suicide After His Subordinates Flee Near Ugledar
The commander of one of the battalions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Igor Hryb, committed suicide after his unit deserted near Ugledar (DPR), the online publication Strana.ua reported on October 4.
Presumably Hryb was likely a senior lieutenent or captain in rank.

Deserters from the 123rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine held a rally in the Nikolaev region
Servicemen of the 123rd territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) refused to carry out the combat mission assigned to them and, having left their deployment location without permission, staged a rally in the Nikolaev region. This was reported on October 4 by the Ukrainian TV channel "Obshchestvennoye".

The article notes that the fighters are protesting to draw attention to the lack of training of personnel and the lack of weapons to participate in combat operations in the Donetsk direction. A platoon commander named Sergei explained that they were prompted to take this step by a lack of resources and supplies on the front line.

"I have repeatedly contacted them, even at my site, for which I was responsible. I asked to provide PKMs (modernized Kalashnikov machine guns), machine guns. [They told me that] we don't have any, we can't provide them," the serviceman said.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Yaroslav Didenko, a fighter from the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who was captured by Russia, said on October 1 that many Ukrainian servicemen at the front were ready to turn their guns toward Kiev. He did not rule out that a coup d'etat would occur in Ukraine in the future due to the unbearable situation in the country. He called on Ukrainians to refuse to participate in battles and to rebel against mobilization, which leads to deaths.

On August 19, Verkhovna Rada deputy Ruslan Gorbenko reported that investigators in Ukraine have opened over 80,000 criminal cases ! against Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen who voluntarily left their military units or refused to participate in combat operations.

He specified that the total number of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at that time was 1 million people. Thus, the share of servicemen who fled the army or refused to fight exceeded 8%.

On August 21, Verkhovna Rada deputy and member of the Ukrainian parliament's defense committee Oleksandr Fedienko acknowledged that desertion in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is widespread. He noted that thousands of fighters are leaving their units without permission.

Reuters: Syrsky orders defense reinforcement after loss of Ugledar
After the surrender of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic by Ukrainian militants, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky ordered to strengthen the defense in the eastern part of the region's territory temporarily controlled by Kiev. This was reported on October 4 by the Reuters agency.

It is noted that this happened the day after Ukrainian formations left Ugledar.

According to Syrsky, he is currently working on "one of the hottest sections of the front" as part of the 25th Sicheslav Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. At the same time, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army did not specify where exactly he is now, but it is known that the said brigade is working in the Pokrovsky direction, where the Russian military is currently conducting an intensive offensive.

IDF says it destroyed tunnel used to smuggle Iranian weapons from Syria to Lebanon
[X]

[IsraelTimes] Two-mile cross-border passage targeted in airstrike; military also hits ‘infrastructure’ at Masnaa border crossing used by Lebanese civilians; minister says border sealed by crater

The Israel Defense Forces said Friday that fighter jets struck a two-mile-long tunnel overnight that crossed between Lebanon and Syria, and which the military said was used by Hezbollah to smuggle Iranian weapons.

According to the IDF, the tunnel was operated by Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran and its proxies to Lebanon.

The strike destroyed the tunnel where weapons were transported through and stored, as well as buildings, weapon depots and other infrastructure in the vicinity, the military said.

It was the first time the military has announced the destruction of a tunnel between Lebanon and Syria.

The IDF also said Friday it had conducted a separate overnight airstrike on “infrastructure” at Lebanon’s main border crossing with Syria, after identifying an attempted delivery of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah via the civilian crossing.

Lebanese Transport Minister Ali Hamieh, a Hezbollah member, told Reuters the strike had created a 12-foot (four-meter) crater next to the Masnaa Border Crossing, sealing off Lebanon’s main route to Syria.

The Lebanese government said that some 310,000 people — mostly Syrians — have used the road to flee to Syria in the past ten days, amid the escalation in fighting.

The IDF has said it has stepped up efforts to prevent any weapons being delivered from Iran to Hezbollah via Syria. On Tuesday, the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400 was killed in a strike on Beirut.

Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF Arabic spokesperson, on Thursday accused Hezbollah of using the border crossing to smuggle Iranian arms into Lebanon.

“The IDF will not allow the smuggling of these weapons and will not hesitate to act if forced to do so,” he wrote on X.

Hamieh responded to the Israeli allegations at a press conference on Thursday, saying the crossing was subject to the authority of the Lebanese state and was being secured “in accordance with international law.”

Iran's supreme leader declares Israel ''won't last long''
[NYPOST] Iran's supreme leader on Friday called the deadly Oct. 7 terror attack in Israel a ''legitimate'' act — as he warned the Jewish state ''won't last long'' under Iranian bombardment.

In a rare Friday address, with his rifle by his side, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also said Iran's recent missile attack on Israel was ''legal and legitimate'' and the minimum punishment for Israel's ''crimes,'' according to the Telegraph.

He claimed the attacks were justified because they were ''logical and legal'' and done in self-defense against an oppressor, touting its legality under international law.

Khamenei's sermon — his first in almost five years — took place just before the first anniversary of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, triggered by the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attack.

He eulogized Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's leader who was killed in a Sept. 27 Israeli strike in Beirut.

''Our resistant people in Lebanon and Palestine, all these testimonies and spilled blood will not shake your will, but rather strengthen your steadfastness,'' Khamenei said.

Iran launched a barrage of missiles against Israel Tuesday in retaliation of Nasrallah's death and the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July.

Despite this attack having more impact than the earlier strike in April — a Jewish school was among the places badly damaged — there were few casualties.

Two Israelis were injured and the only death was a Palestinian man in the West Bank who was crushed by an intercepted missile fuselage.

Nasrallah, 64, was at the center of what Israeli officials described to The Post as Iran's ''Axis of Resistance'' and was responsible for what President Biden called a ''four-decade reign of terror.''

Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah's death Saturday, hours after Israel slammed Beirut with powerful airstrikes — but the group did not acknowledge how its leader was killed.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Nasrallah's death a necessary decision in a televised statement Saturday.

IDF says over 250 Hezbollah operatives killed in southern Lebanon ground offensive
[IsraelTimes] Military sources report signs of ‘exhaustion’ among terror group’s fighters; Gallant warns Israel has ‘more surprises in store’; over 180 rockets fired at north on Friday

More than 250 Hezbollah operatives have been killed during Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon since troops began a ground offensive there earlier this week, the Israel Defense Forces said Friday, as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Israel has “more surprises in store” and the Lebanese terror group bombarded the north with rocket salvos.

The Israeli ground operations in southern Lebanon have been described by the IDF as “limited, localized, and targeted raids,” with the goal of demolishing Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the border area, especially in the villages adjacent to Israel, to enable residents of the north to return home.

Military officials have said that the Israel Defense Forces intends for the operations to end as quickly as possible, even within a few weeks.

Among the 250 Hezbollah fighters killed since the ground offensive started late Monday are at least 21 field commanders, according to the IDF, including five brigade-level commanders, 10 company commanders, and six platoon commanders.

The Israeli toll in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon stands at nine.

The IDF’s 98th and 36th divisions were operating in several Lebanese villages close to the Israeli border, where the military said troops had located a large amount of weapons and infrastructure that Hezbollah left behind.

More than half a million Lebanese civilians have fled southern Lebanon following IDF evacuation warnings, according to military assessments, including residents of 37 towns and villages who were told Friday morning to immediately leave flee the area and head north of the Awali River. The IDF has said it would update the civilians when it is safe to return.

Troops have mostly come under anti-tank missile fire and mortar attacks amid the operations, though there have also been several close-quarters engagements. In one incident Thursday, IDF paratroopers killed some 15 Hezbollah operatives who were spotted in buildings and tunnel shafts in a village in southern Lebanon. Only one soldier was wounded in the engagement.

The ground operations were launched as Israel continued to carry out strikes on the terror group’s top commanders in the capital Beirut, capabilities across the country, and weapon shipments from Iran.

In southern Lebanon, amid the ground operations, more than 2,000 Hezbollah sites have been struck from the air, the IDF added.

Military sources said the IDF has seen signs of “exhaustion” among Hezbollah’s fighters in southern Lebanon, but did not offer further details on how this was manifesting. The military attributed Hezbollah forces’ weariness to the killing of many of the terror group’s commanders, including numerous field officers.

“Hezbollah is receiving very severe blows, one after the other. We eliminated [Hezbollah chief Hassan] Nasrallah and we have more surprises in store, some of which have already been carried out and some of which will be carried out,” Gallant said Friday during a visit to the 36th Division’s headquarters in northern Israel. The division’s troops are operating in southern Lebanon.

“[Hezbollah’s] missile and rocket division suffered a very heavy blow. A significant part was destroyed as a result of a high-quality and precise operation. Command and control headquarters, communications, the entire leadership of [the elite Radwan Force], and in fact the entire second and third tiers of command below Nasrallah were eliminated,” he continued.

Gallant added that the IDF was “carrying out an operation today in several villages, and this process will continue wherever necessary to destroy all the infrastructure from which Hezbollah planned to carry out attacks.”

ROCKET ATTACKS ON NORTH AND STRIKES IN LEBANON
Meanwhile, some 180 rockets were fired from Lebanon in barrages targeting northern Israel throughout the day, including over 70 rockets in a two-hour span on Friday evening. According to the IDF, many of the rockets were shot down by air defenses, and the remainder struck open areas.

Separately, two suspected drones that entered Israeli airspace from Lebanon a short while ago were shot down by the Israeli Air Force, the military said.

Earlier, some two dozen rockets were fired from Lebanon at the Haifa area in a pair of salvos Friday morning, setting off sirens in the northern coastal city and surrounding communities. The military said most of the projectiles were intercepted while others struck open ground.

Additionally, rockets were fired toward the Galilee area. Those too were either intercepted or hit non-populated areas.

There were no reports of injuries or major damage in the attacks.

On the opposite side of the border, the IDF said fighter jets and drones struck dozens of Hezbollah sites across Lebanon in the past day. The military said targets in Beirut included weapon depots, command rooms, intelligence sites, surveillance equipment, and other infrastructure. In southern Lebanon, the IDF said dozens of Hezbollah weapon depots, cells of operatives, rocket launchers, and buildings used by the terror group were struck.

The Israeli strikes and rocket fire from Lebanon came after Israel carried out intensive strikes in Beirut late Thursday that reportedly targeted Hashem Safieddine, Hezbollah’s next projected leader following the assassination last week of the terror group’s chief Hassan Nasrallah. There has been no word on his fate and neither the IDF or Hezbollah have yet to comment on the attack.

On Friday, the military announced it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s communications division in a separate airstrike in Beirut late Thursday. According to the IDF, Muhammad Rashid Sakafi headed Hezbollah’s communications since 2000 and was considered close to the terror group’s leadership.

“Sakafi invested significant efforts to develop communication capabilities between all of Hezbollah’s units in all periods of operation, to maintain the flow of information throughout the terrorist organization,” the military added.

Hezbollah says it’s in ongoing clashes with Israeli troops in Lebanon border area

[IsraelTimes] Hezbollah says it is engaged in ongoing clashes with Israeli troops in the Lebanon border area, after earlier saying it forced Israeli soldiers to retreat there.

Afghanistan
Russia completes work on removing terrorist status from Taliban
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Russia is finalizing the issue of excluding the Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) from the terrorist list, FSB head Alexander Bortnikov said on October 4.

“We see the Taliban’s readiness to fight the most dangerous wing of ISIS (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), Vilayat Khorasan (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), which continues to receive resource support from the West, which uses the terrorist group’s capabilities in subversive actions under a false flag on our territory,” Bortnikov said at a meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of the CIS Member States.

In this regard, the head of the FSB called on his CIS colleagues to cooperate in order to identify communication channels in terrorist structures supervised by the West. The Russian side considers it expedient, on the one hand, to establish contacts with the Taliban, and on the other, to identify potential supporters of terrorists in the CIS countries, Bortnikov said.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced on April 1 that the issue of removing the Taliban’s status as a terrorist organization is being worked on, and the final decision will be made by the country’s top leadership.

In December 2023, the Kazakh government decided to remove the Taliban from its list of terrorists. Kyrgyzstan also removed the Taliban from its list of banned organizations on September 6.

Since March 2022, Moscow has established diplomatic relations with Afghanistan and accredited diplomats of the Taliban-formed government. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in January of this year that representatives of the Taliban movement control power in Afghanistan.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on May 28 that the status of the Taliban movement is constantly being discussed. The head of state added that Russia takes into account the opinion of each country in the region on the issue of recognizing the Taliban.

Kabulov: Taliban decided to be excluded from list of terrorist
organizations banned in Russia

The decision to exclude the Taliban movement from the list of terrorist organizations was made at the highest level, but legal procedures must be followed. This was stated on October 4 by Zamir Kabulov, a member of the Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Russian Federation and former Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan.

"The Foreign Ministry, together with the FSB (Federal Security Service) and a number of other Russian agencies, is completing legal work on the process of excluding the Taliban movement from the Russian Federation's terrorist list. It is not a matter of desire; the decision in principle on this issue has been made by the top leadership of Russia. But all processes must be carried out within the framework of the Russian legal field," Kabulov said during a meeting of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan.

Russia has been slowly building ties with the Taliban since it seized power in Afghanistan in August 2021 as US-led forces withdrew after 20 years of war but the movement is still officially outlawed in Russia.

No country has formally recognised the Taliban-led government as the country's legitimate leadership, although China and the UAE have accepted its ambassadors.

Russia added the Afghan Taliban to its list of terrorist organizations in 2003. Removing it would be an important step by Moscow towards normalising relations with Afghanistan.

The Taliban's acting foreign minister Amir Khan Muttaqi said in a speech in Moscow that recent decisions by Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan to remove the former gunnies from a list of banned groups was a welcome step.

US military having doubts about wisdom of its ‘ironclad’ support for Israel
[ALJAZEERA] Military officials in the United States are debating whether sending more forces to the Middle East risks further emboldening Israel, according to a report in The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

US officials say its policy of military support for Israel seeks a ''de-escalation of the situation through deterrence and diplomacy.'' But some bigwigs now question if it is having the desired effect, the paper says.

In the 12 months since Hamas

attacked Israel, the Pentagon has supplied billions of dollars of weapons to Israel, while sending its own aircraft carriers, guided missile destroyers and fighter squadrons, as well deploying 43,000 troops in the region.

The Times said several Pentagon officials expressed concern that Israel was waging an increasingly aggressive campaign against the Lebanese gang Hezbollah, knowing that ''an armada of American warships and dozens of attack planes stand ready to help blunt any Iranian response.''

One official was quoted as saying it was in Israel's interest to take advantage of the beefed-up US military presence in the region to achieve its objectives of destroying Hamas and Hezbollah.

Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff who previously commanded U.S. air forces in the Middle East, has raised the issue in meetings at the Pentagon and at the White House, The Times reported, citing US officials.

''If you're Israel and you're a military planner, you want to do all that while things are in the region, not after it leaves,'' said Dana Stroul, the Pentagon's former top official for Middle East policy, of US military presence.

On Sunday, Biden administration officials said they had talked to Israeli officials about limiting its ground invasion of Leb

The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
. But Israel's raids this week have so far looked more like a more extensive operation is planned, other officials said.

Biden suggests Israel not hit Iran oil fields, after opposing strike on nuke facilities; Biden admin powerless to effect Bibi’s decisions
[IsraelTimes]

Wall Street Journal: Biden officials increasingly bystanders as Israel plows on

[IsraelTimes] The Wall Street Journal reports on the state of Israeli-American relations amid the regional conflict.

The paper says the Biden administration’s
C’mon guys — you know you mean Harris-Biden administration. This is really all her work, after all…
influence over Jerusalem appears to be waning, with Israel increasingly taking actions against its adversaries against the wishes and positions of US officials.

It says US leadership is partly hamstrung by the coming election, reluctant to take a more assertive stance against Israeli steps that it fears could lead to regional escalation, as these could harm Democrats politically.

“Biden and his team frequently find themselves looking like bystanders, unwilling or unable to rein in an ally they continue to back politically and provide with critical
military support,” it says.

At the same time, the report notes that the administration is conflicted, and officials “aren’t unhappy” with Israel’s significant gains against Hezbollah.
No doubt.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israeli army issues new evacuation order for Beirut
[ALJAZEERA] The Israeli army has issued an order for residents of Beirut's southern suburbs to evacuate immediately.

The military specifically called on those living in a building in the Bourj el-Barajneh area to abandon their homes.

The issuance of these evacuation orders, which has become a near-nightly occurrence from the Israeli army, shortly preceded violent mostly peaceful air strikes on the Lebanese capital.

The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
s, is reporting that there have been three air strikes carried out by US and British warplanes on the al-Jabana area in Hodeidah.

A wave of air strikes hit Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen earlier today.

Al Masirah said the strikes were carried out by US and British warplanes and hit Sanaa, Hodeidah's airport, the Katheib area northwest of the port city and Dhamar.

The UK quickly denied involvement in the air strikes before the US military said in a statement that it had carried out 15 strikes against targets linked to the Iran-aligned Houthi fighters.

US and British militaries strike over a dozen Houthi targets across Yemen

[IsraelTimes] American officials confirm aircraft and warships bombed strongholds of the Iran-backed rebels, who have threatened ‘escalating military operations’ against Israel

The US and British militaries struck more than a dozen Houthi targets in Yemen on Friday, going after weapons systems, bases and other equipment belonging to the Iranian-backed rebels, US officials confirmed.

Military aircraft and warships bombed Houthi strongholds at roughly five locations, according to the officials.

Houthi media said seven strikes hit the airport in Hodeida, a major port city, and the Katheib area, which has a Houthi-controlled military base. Four more strikes hit the Seiyana area in Sanaa, the capital, and two strikes hit the Dhamar province. The Houthi media office also reported three air raids in Bayda province, southeast of Sanaa.
More from the Times of Israel:
Central Command, which oversees US forces in the Middle East, says the targets were tied to Houthi offensive military capabilities, but did not detail whether that included missile, drone or radar capabilities.

In a post on X, Central Command says the strikes took place at about 1400 GMT.
Even more:
Strikes also targeted the south of Dhamar city, Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reports.
