Somali Forces Kill 59 Al-Shabaab with Foreign Support - Ministry
[Garowe] The Somali Ministry of Information has announced that operations involving Somali forces, local militia, and foreign military support resulted in the deaths of up to 59 al-Shabaab
... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all ofwhich have enough problems without them...
bandidos bully boyz in eastern Galgaduud and the Middle Shabelle regions. The operations, aimed at dismantling al-Shabaab's strongholds, were part of a broader strategy to combat terrorism in Somalia.

In one significant action near the Cowsweyne area of Galgaduud, 32 al-Shabaab fighters, including several commanders, were killed. However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
this success came at a cost, with four Somali National Army soldiers also losing their lives in the clash.

Independent reports, however, paint a more complex picture of the conflict. While the government claims victories, sources on the ground suggest that the Somali army might have suffered significant losses near Cowsweyne, with over 20 soldiers and commanders reportedly killed by al-Shabaab krazed killers.

These military engagements are part of an ongoing effort to push back against al-Shabaab, which has maintained a significant presence in Somalia despite years of international and domestic military operations. The involvement of foreign troops underscores the international concern over the stability of Somalia and the broader implications of al-Shabaab's activities for regional security.

The Ministry's statement did not specify the exact number of foreign soldiers involved but highlighted their crucial support in intelligence and aerial operations. The operations have been described as a coordinated effort to disrupt al-Shabaab's networks, movements, and capacity to launch attacks.

Given the conflicting reports on casualties, the true extent of the losses on both sides remains unclear. This ambiguity often characterizes reports from conflict zones where access to information can be restricted, and where both sides might manipulate figures to suit their narratives.
The operations, which took place in the Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions, targeted key Al-Shabaab strongholds around Gerile, Awsweyne, and Hawadley.

However, the operations were not without cost, as the government also reported the loss of four SNA soldiers in the eastern part of Galgudud, highlighting the fierce resistance encountered by the militants.

Turkey detains 200 human traffickers in a month plus 4,040 illegal migrants
[Rudaw] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
’s interior ministry on Tuesday announced that it has detained 200 individuals in the past month over human trafficking charges while apprehending over 4000 "irregular" migrants colonists.

"In continuous operations carried out by the Gendarmerie over the past month across 81 provinces, 200 migrant smuggling organizers and 4,040 irregular migrants colonists were apprehended," Ottoman Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said on X.

Yerlikaya said that 82 of the smugglers were arrested, and 31 others were referred to the judiciary, adding that the Ottoman Turkish security forces also took over 107 vehicles used in human trafficking and smuggling migrants colonists.

"The captured irregular immigrants colonists were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Immigration Management, and deportation procedures were initiated immediately," said Yerlikaya.

No information was provided regarding the nationality of the migrants colonists.

Turkey is a popular destination among migrants colonists from the Middle East and several central and southern Asian countries who want to relocate to or use it as a transit destination to reach Europe.

Roughly 3.2 million Syrian refugees who fled war are currently residing in Turkey and have been granted temporary protection status, according to the Ottoman Turkish Presidency of Migration Management. The country is also a hotspot for migrants colonists and refugees from the Middle East and Central Asia.

According to a January report from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Turkey was the home of over 296,685 refugees and asylum seekers in 2023, most of who were from Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, and Ukraine.

Ankara occasionally organizes crackdowns on human traffickers and irregular migrants colonists. In April, Yerlikaya announced that the security forces detained over 1000 migrants colonists in four days during the Eid holidays.

In 2016, Turkey and the EU signed a multi-billion euro deal to contain a wave of migration towards Europe. Under the deal, Ankara agreed to stop people from traveling irregularly to Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
and to accept asylum seekers rejected by the EU.

Turkey arrests over 4,000 illegal migrants in one month

[KhaamaPress] The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced that over the past month, 4,040 “illegal migrants” have been arrested across the country. In addition, 200 people have been arrested on charges of human trafficking. Turkey has not disclosed the identities of these refugees.

Ali Yerlikaya, the Turkish Minister of Interior, stated on Tuesday, October 8, on the social media platform X that during simultaneous operations across the country, over a hundred vehicles transporting undocumented refugees were discovered and seized.

He emphasized that the arrested migrants have been handed over to the city immigration offices, and the process of their deportation has begun.

The identities of the detained refugees have not been clarified, but the majority of undocumented migrants in Turkey are from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria.

In recent months, Turkey has intensified its arrest and deportation of Afghan refugees. According to Minister Yerlikaya, Turkish security forces continue operations across the country to identify and deport undocumented migrants.

Amid the dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, the forced deportation of Afghan refugees by Turkey has sparked international concern. Many of these individuals face severe economic hardship, violence, and instability in their homeland, making their deportation a matter of human rights and refugee protection.

As the situation escalates, organizations and governments are calling for a more compassionate approach, urging Turkey to ensure the safety and dignity of Afghan refugees during this challenging time. The global community’s focus on the Afghan refugee crisis highlights the need for broader solutions and humanitarian assistance.

Three, including two Afghans, arrested in France for planning terrorist attack
[KhaamaPress] French Internal Security Sherlocks have arrested three individuals, including two Afghans, on charges of "planning violent mostly peaceful acts" and membership in a "terrorist criminal association." These individuals were detained on Tuesday in the southwest of La Belle France.

Sources familiar with the case confirmed to Agence La Belle France-Presse (AFP) that the two Afghan citizens were "planning to carry out a violent mostly peaceful act on French soil."

The anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office told AFP that the three individuals are being interrogated as part of an initial investigation into their membership in a terrorist criminal association aimed at preparing one or more violent mostly peaceful acts against persons.

The arrests took place in the regions of Toulouse
...lies on the banks of the River Garonne, half-way between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. The Toulouse metropolitan area is the fourth-largest in La Belle France...
and Haute-Garonne in southwestern La Belle France.

No further information regarding the identities of the individuals or details of the case has been released at this time.

This incident reflects the continued vigilance of French authorities in preventing potential terrorist threats within the country. It also highlights the ongoing concerns about radicalized individuals planning violent mostly peaceful activities, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts.

As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, shedding light on the extent of the planned activities and the network involved. The arrests serve as a reminder of the complex and evolving nature of terrorism-related threats in Europe.

...KABOOM!...
carried out by the Iraqi army in Salahaddin province, the army said on Monday, with jihadist cells yet to be ousted from the country’s disputed areas.

The strike in territories disputed between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is the latest in an ongoing effort by Baghdad to rid the country of ISIS cells, in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate.

The Iraqi air force "carried out successful airstrikes using F-16 aircraft, targeting a terrorist hideout in the al-Aith area within the Salahaddin Operations Command sector," the Iraqi army’s Joint Operations Command said in a statement.

Six ISIS members were killed in the strikes, according to the statement, which said that the operation was "in Dire Revenge for the deaders of Kirkuk."

On Wednesday, an ISIS ambush in western Kirkuk province - which also falls in the disputed territories - killed four Iraqi army soldiers. At least six suspected ISIS members, including a leader, were killed in an operation carried out by Iraqi forces in Kirkuk on September 19.

On Saturday, the Iraqi army announced that over 100 ISIS members have been killed since the beginning of the year.

Iraq to repatriate 700 nationals from Rojava camp
[Rudaw] The Iraqi government plans to return nearly 700 nationals from the al-Hol camp in northeast Syria (Rojava) which houses the families of Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. (ISIS) fighters, a spokesperson for Iraq’s migration ministry said on Tuesday.

Ali Abbas told Rudaw that these Iraqi nationals will be brought back to their country in the coming two days.

Iraq has repatriated around 10,000 nationals from the camp; however, 18,000 remain, according to the spokesperson.
A good time for a generational cleansing.
Iraqis and Syrians make up the majority of the 40,000 ISIS-linked people who have been held at the camp in Hasaka province since the military defeat of ISIS in 2019. The camp has been described as a humanitarian disaster and a breeding ground for terrorism by security experts.

In July, Iraq repatriated 150 families from the camp. Most of the repatriates live in al-Jada rehabilitation camp in Iraq’s northern Nineveh province. al-Jada prepares the individuals for reintegration into their communities and then return to their places of origin.

2 Palestinians arrested, charged for throwing explosives at Israeli buses in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] The Shin Bet security agency says two Paleostinians have been arrested and charged with throwing explosives at Israeli buses in the West Bank.

Muhammad Takataka and Muhammad Abu Hossein, residents of a village near Bethlehem, were detained in recent weeks over two attacks on buses near the settlement of Tekoa on March 21 and August 25, the Shin Bet and IDF say in a joint statement.

"The Shin Bet’s investigation of the suspects revealed that the two carried out the kabooms with the intention of harming Israeli civilians and against the background of the war in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip," the agency says.

There were no injuries in the attacks.

The pair were charged with a series of security offenses, the Shin Bet adds.

Israeli strike in Syria said to target top Hezbollah official in arms smuggling unit
[IsraelTimes] Syrian state media reports 7 killed in Damascus after building hit near Iranian embassy; not immediately clear if reported assassination attempt successful

An alleged Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on Damascus Tuesday targeted a top Hezbollah official who is part of a unit tasked with delivering weapons from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and its proxies to the terror group in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, according to a Saudi report.

Syria’s state-run SANA news agency claimed seven non-combatants were killed and 11 others were maimed in the strike, which hit a residential and commercial building in the Mezzeh district of the capital a few hundred meters from the Iranian embassy.

Multiple reports said the targeted building is linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

SANA cited a military source who said the strike also caused "significant material damage." It added that rescue forces were still working to extract people from under the rubble.

State media earlier claimed that Syria’s air defenses had intercepted "hostile" targets in the vicinity of Damascus.
"We intercepted the attack with several targets buildings"
The Saudi news outlet al-Hadath reported the target of the Damascus strike was a member of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, but did not say if the attempt was successful. The IDF has overseen efforts in recent weeks to stop the unit’s arms smuggling to Hezbollah.

Last week, the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, Muhammad Ja’far, was killed in a strike in Beirut, while his brother was reportedly killed days later in an alleged Israeli strike in Damascus.

On Friday, the IDF said that fighter jets struck a two-mile-long tunnel that crossed between Lebanon and Syria, and which the military said was used by Unit 4400 to smuggle weapons.

Last month, it was reported that Israeli special forces carried out a massive raid on an Iranian weapons facility in the Masyaf area in Syria, killing at least 14 people, wounding 43, and sparking fires.

Through Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Amateur Radio Triumphs When All Else Fails
[WIRED] THE MORNING AFTER Hurricane Helene pummeled the eastern seaboard of the US, Thomas Witherspoon inspected the damage to his western North Carolina home. The night before, he listened to the wind whip down trees and snap power lines along the two-mile access road connecting his family to their few neighbors in Buncombe County.

Like the tens of thousands of other North Carolina residents, the power to Witherspoon’s neighborhood was completely out. It was impossible to communicate with the house down the road, let alone anyone several miles away. Unable to send text messages or make phone calls, radio became the one form of communication left in rural North Carolina. After fixing what he could on his own property, Witherspoon, a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast, began distributing handheld radios to his neighbors.

"Amateur radio is one of those things you get into because of your love of radio communications and the technical aspects of it or the community and the challenges that you can overcome," Witherspoon says. "It's a lot of fun, but underlying all of that is this prime directive with amateur radio that it’s always there as emergency communications when all else fails."

A mineral that poses little risk to humans when undisturbed but that is highly carcinogenic when dispersed and released into the atmosphere, asbestos is present throughout much of Gaza’s structures.

Over the past year, Israel’s bombs have caused vast amounts of it to be broken into tiny, airborne particles, which can potentially cause cancer in those who breathe it in, leading experts to say cases of cancer will likely be reported "for decades" in Gaza.

According to United Nations estimates, some 800,000 tonnes of the bombed-out debris across Gaza may be contaminated with asbestos.

This is a "death sentence" for Palestinians trapped in Gaza, leading asbestos expert Roger Willey told Al Jazeera.

Harris' behavior tells you she knows she's losing
[Washington Times] In his three campaigns for president, Donald Trump has never been in as strong a position as he is right now, and that is apparently scaring the daylights out of Vice President Kamala Harris. You don’t have to take my word for it; just watch the way she’s behaving.

After a six-week period of glowing coverage that followed her ascension to the top of the Democratic Party’s national ticket — replacing the feeble and forcibly discarded President Biden — she doesn’t have a tremendous amount to show for it. Yes, she’s faring better against Mr. Trump than Mr. Biden had been, but that’s nothing to brag about.

Ms. Harris has been the beneficiary of the equivalent of millions of dollars’ worth of free advertising from the mainstream media, and she still couldn’t quite catch Mr. Trump in most public polls. There are exceptions (in polling, there always are), but a slew of recent national surveys from The New York Times, CNN and Quinnipiac have shown the race to be tied, or show Mr. Trump with a slight lead. That’s devastating because a national poll includes Democratic strongholds such as California and New York, and she’s still tied or behind.

Blinding flash of the obvious, Harris is eyeing your 401k
[WSJ] Kamala Harris keeps changing her tax plan, but her latest proposal is to raise the corporate tax rate to 28%. She would also raise the top capital-gains tax to roughly 32%, the highest since the 1970s.

Extracting money from those big and faceless corporations with profits in the tens of billions of dollars has populist appeal. But the more accurate way to think of the corporate income tax is that it puts Uncle Sam first in line to take a share of all the profits an American corporation earns. Only after the government takes its pound of flesh does anyone else get a return on his money.

At a 28% federal corporate tax and an average of roughly a 5% state and local tax, the government would snatch away roughly 33 cents of every dollar of profit. This leaves 67 cents to the shareholders. Those include the more than 100 million Americans who own stock directly or through pension and other retirement funds. Every percentage point that Congress and Ms. Harris raise the tax would dilute the value of the stock owned by the rest of us.

Things get even bleaker when one factors in her plan to raise the capital-gains rate. She favors raising the rate to roughly 32% from 23.8%. Add state capital-gains taxes and the rate can easily reach 36%. This is the government taking a second bite out of the corporate apple before the rest of the country has even taken its first. Remember: The value of a share of stock is the present value discounted by the expected after-tax future earnings of the company.

Supreme Court Decisions be damned - Critical Application To Pursue Student Loan Forgiveness Is Back Up
[Forbes] In a major update, the Education Department has restored online access to a key application for borrowers looking to continue pursuing student loan forgiveness as certain programs remain cut off.

For the last two months, there has been no online access to the application for Income-Driven Repayment. This has prevented borrowers impacted by recent court rulings from applying to change their repayment plan. And it has also interfered with borrowers’ obligations to recertify their income annually for existing IDR plans.

IDR is a collection of individual plans that base monthly payments on a borrower’s income, with the potential for student loan forgiveness after a certain period of time (typically, 20 or 25 years). IDR is also a critical component of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, or PSLF, as most borrowers must be enrolled in an IDR plan in order to make qualifying PSLF payments. PSLF can allow for student loan forgiveness in as little as 10 years for borrowers who work in the nonprofit or public sectors.

Tim Walz calls for Electoral College to be abolished
[FOX] Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday called for the elimination of the Electoral College during a fundraiser in California, a move some Democrats have advocated for in the past after election defeats.

Walz was in California Gov. Gavin Newsom's private home in Sacramento when he remarked about the process by which U.S. presidents are elected.

"I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go," he said, according to a pool report at the event, Bloomberg reported. "We need a national popular vote, but that's not the world we live in."
Even if it could be done, it could not be done in time to change the 2024 presidential race.

Biden throws Kamala Harris under the bus by praising DeSantis for his hurricane response
Senile he may be, but he still knows how to stick a knife in a back, and he clearly still nurtures a grudge just fine.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] President Joe Biden stepped on Vice President Kamala Harris' appearance on The View on Tuesday when he praised Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' for 'doing a great job' with Hurricane Milton preparations.

Biden made the remarks during a dueling appearance with the vice president who less than 24 hours earlier criticized the Republican governor as powerful Hurricane Milton barrels toward Florida.

Harris and DeSantis publicly butted heads on Monday when they accused each other of playing politics after DeSantis did not take calls from the vice president.

But in an update on hurricane preparedness on Tuesday, Biden said he has spoken to 'all political leaders in the region' and some of them more than once and shared that he gave DeSantis his personal phone number.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israeli tanks push deeper into Jabalia in northern Gaza, say residents
[GEO.TV] Israel sent tanks deeper into Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip on Tuesday and advised people to leave as it pounded the historic Palestinian refugee camp from the air, residents said.

Palestinian medics said casualties had been reported in Jabalia but that they were unable to reach areas under fire.

IDF soldier killed in Gaza; three terrorists who took part in Oct. 7 onslaught eliminated

[IsraelTimes] Death of Staff Sgt. Noam Israel Abdu brings Israel’s toll in ground offensive against Hamas to 350; another soldier seriously wounded

An Israeli soldier was killed during a fresh ground operation in the northern Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces announced on Tuesday.

Staff Sgt. Noam Israel Abdu, 20, of the Bislamach Brigade’s 17th Battalion, from the central town of Kadima-Zoran, was killed on Monday as troops battled Hamas in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya.

The Bislamach Brigade is the IDF’s School for Infantry Corps Professions and Squad Commanders during peacetime. Abdu, who was a member of the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, served with Bislamach as he was going through a squad commander’s course at the school.

His death brought Israel’s death toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in operations along the border to 350. The toll comprises 348 soldiers, a police officer killed in a hostage rescue mission, and a civilian Defense Ministry contractor.

The IDF said another soldier with the battalion was seriously wounded in the same incident in which Abdu was killed.

On Sunday, the IDF said that troops of the 162nd Division had encircled Jabaliya in a new ground operation targeting efforts by Hamas to reestablish itself in northern Gaza. The military said the operation was launched following intelligence on Hamas operatives and infrastructure as the terror group engaged in efforts to regroup there. Several dozen terror operatives were killed in airstrikes and tank shelling as the offensive began, according to the IDF.

On Tuesday, the IDF said some 20 Hamas operatives were killed in airstrikes and close-quarters combat in Jabaliya over the past day.

Troops also located and destroyed a weapons depot and other weapons amid the fighting, according to the military.

“The operation will continue as long as necessary, while systematically striking and thoroughly destroying the terror infrastructure in the area,” the military said.

Prior to the operation, the 162nd Division was withdrawn from Rafah and the Philadelphi Corridor — the Egypt-Gaza border area — after five months there, and handed over responsibility for the area to the IDF’s Gaza Division, the first time that the regional division was given responsibility over a large portion of the Strip. The IDF said there was no reduction in forces in the Egypt-Gaza border area, and troops were continuing to operate there.

The operation marked the fourth push into Jabaliya by the IDF since the start of the war a year ago. The most recent round of fighting there in May was described by the IDF and some officers as “intense” and the “most violent” of the war.

Tens of thousands of Palestinians are believed by Israel to still be in northern Gaza despite repeated evacuation orders, among them thousands of terror operatives who survived previous IDF operations that saw Hamas’s battalions in the area dismantled.

On Monday, the IDF called on Palestinians in northern Gaza’s Beit Hanoun, Jabaliya, and Beit Lahiya to evacuate to the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in the Strip’s south.

A day earlier, the IDF said that it was preparing to evacuate civilians from all of north Gaza, and would increase the size of the humanitarian zone.

The zone, where the vast majority of the Gazan population currently resides, is where most humanitarian aid is being delivered. There are also field hospitals there.

The military also said it was opening up two evacuation routes for Palestinians — along the Salah a-Din road and the coastal road. Aid groups have warned against repeated displacement of already malnourished Palestinians.

In the central Gaza Strip, the IDF said Tuesday the 14th Reserve Armored Brigade launched a new raid in the Bureij area, where it said troops were demolishing Hamas infrastructure and killing gunmen.

Also in the past day, the IDF said 70 Hamas sites were struck across the Gaza Strip by fighter jets and other aircraft.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the IDF and Shin Bet security agency said that three Hamas terrorists who participated in the October 7 onslaught were killed in airstrikes in recent days. According to the military, a strike on a Hamas command room embedded within a school in Gaza City on September 30 killed several Hamas operatives, including Muhammad Rafai. Rafai participated in the massacre at Kfar Aza and Nahal Oz on October 7, and was involved in other attacks on troops throughout the war, according to the military.

Another strike, on October 1, killed two more Hamas terrorists, named by the IDF as Muhammad Zanun and Bassel Akhars, who the military says participated in the October 7 attack.

Hamas's armed wing says Al-Aqsa Flood operation last year 'preemptive strike' against Israel
[GEO.TV] Hamas's armed wing Al-Qassam Brigades said that the Al-Aqsa Flood operation on October 7 last year was a "preemptive strike" against Israel.
And how did that work out for you?
"The strike of the (Palestinian) resistance (on Oct 7) was preemptive as the (Israeli) occupation aggression reached a dangerous level," said Abu Obaida, the Hamas military spokesperson, in a televised speech on the first anniversary of the Hamas attack against Israel, reported Anadolu.

He also emphasised that Al-Qassam Brigades will continue to confront Israel "in a long, extended and painful war" as long as the Israeli aggression continues.

"A year has passed and we are still fighting in an asymmetrical battle a criminal enemy that doesn't hesitate to commit all crimes," Abu Obaida added.

FBI has arrested an Afghan national who they say was plotting an ISIS inspired terror attack on Election Day
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

… US Afghan withdrawal, and currently has parole status. The FBI has a has a photo allegedly from his iPhone they say depicts him describing to his daughter and another child "the rewards a martyr receives in the afterlife."
For future searchability: Tawhedi, age 27, on Shartel Ave. in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma. His wife, 24, is the sister of Co-Conspirator #1, juvenile of uncertain age, who lives in Moore, OK with his parents and five other siblings.
Courtesy of Skidmark, the Daily Mail adds:
Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, 27, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, told investigators after his arrest Monday that he had planned his attack to coincide with Election Day next month. He and a juvenile co-conspirator expected to die as martyrs, according to charging documents.

Tawhedi, who entered the U.S. in 2021 on a special immigrant visa, had taken steps in recent weeks to advance his attack plans, including by ordering AK-47 rifles. He liquidated his family's assets and buying one-way tickets for his wife and child to travel home to Afghanistan.

After he was arrested, the Justice Department said, Tawhedi told investigators he had planned an attack for Election Day that would target large gatherings of people.

Tawhedi was charged with conspiring and attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State group, which is designated by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organization. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 20 years for providing support to ISIS and 15 years for obtaining a firearm to commit a felony or a federal crime of terrorism.

According to the criminal complaint, Tawhedi entered the United States on September 9, 2021 on a special immigrant visa.

It said an FBI 'confidential human source' contacted Tawhedi after he recently advertised the sale of his family's personal property on Facebook. The FBI source said he needed a computer for a gun business he was starting and Tawhedi expressed interest in purchasing two AK-47 assault rifles and ammunition, according to the complaint.

On Monday, Tawhedi and the juvenile met with 'FBI assets' at a rural location in Oklahoma and purchased two AK-47 assault rifles, 10 magazines, and 500 rounds of ammunition, it said.

They were immediately arrested.

Tawhedi entered the U.S. on a special immigrant visa, a program that permits eligible Afghans who helped Americans despite great personal risk to themselves and their loved ones to apply for entry into America with their families. Eligible Afghans include interpreters for the U.S. military as well as individuals integral to the American embassy in Kabul. While the program has existed since 2009, the number of applicants skyrocketed after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021.
Deutsche Welle adds:
US authorities did not provide details about the co-conspirator, who is reportedly also Afghan and is A. T.'s brother-in-law, as he is a minor and therefore under special privacy protections.
And from PJ Media:
In a chilling Telegram message found on Tawhedi's phone, he told an ISIS recruiter who goes by the alias Abdul Malik, "Brother, our house was sold today. We'll receive the money by the 15th of October, next month. After that, we will begin our duty, Allah willing, with the help of Allah we will get ready for the election day."

The Telegram messages detailed a plan for Tawhedi's family to leave the United States for Kabul on Oct. 17, 2024, using one-way tickets. His Google history revealed searches on how to access cameras in Washington, D.C., and which states allow permitless carry.

Tawhedid also has a history of donating to "charities" that funnel money to ISIS.

More from the press release:

According to the criminal complaint, as part of the investigation into Tawhedi, the FBI searched Tawhedi’s phone and obtained communications between Tawhedi and a person who facilitated recruitment, training, and indoctrination of persons who expressed interest in terrorist activity and who Tawhedi understood to be affiliated with ISIS. Tawhedi was also seen in a video recorded on July 20 reading to two children text that describes the rewards a martyr receives in the afterlife. Tawhedi also allegedly accessed, viewed, and saved ISIS propaganda on his iCloud and Google account, participated in pro-ISIS Telegram groups, and contributed to a charity which fronts for and funnels money to ISIS.
There’s a SCRIBD thingy of the entire complaint at the link.
Update from Cincinnati.com at 2:50 p.m.ET:
Tawhedi came to the United States on Sept. 9, 2021, using a special immigrant visa, the FBI said in a court affidavit. During that same period, about 1,000 Afghans were relocated to Oklahoma City and thousands more across other cities in the U.S. when the Taliban took over their country.

It's unclear if Tawhedi is an Afghan refugee — though he was described that way by U.S. Sen. James Lankford in a news release — or if his entrance into the country simply coincided with the refugees.

Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City, which helped resettle Afghan refugees, has no record of him, its executive director, Patrick Raglow, said.

Tawhedi was living in an apartment on Shartel Avenue along with his wife and 1-year-old child, the FBI said. Online records show an address for him in 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Justice Department did not disclose how the alleged plot was uncovered. The FBI indicated in the affidavit its agents have been investigating since at least August.
Even more from The Oklahoman at 4:25p.m.ET:
Tawhedi arrived in the United States on September 9, 2021, and was here on a special immigrant visa, according to the affidavit. The timing coincides with a period in which thousands of Afghans fleeing their country amid the Taliban takeover were being relocated in cities across the U.S. About 1,000 Afghans were relocated in Oklahoma City.

U.S. Sen. James Lankford described him in a news release as an Afghan refugee.

His court-appointed attorney could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.

His wife's brother was called a co-conspirator but not named in the affidavit because the FBI reported he is a minor. He was identified as a citizen of Afghanistan who lives with his parents at a single-family home in Moore. He entered the United States on March 27, 2018, on a special immigrant visa, according to the affidavit.

The FBI reported the two were preparing to repatriate most of their immediate family to Afghanistan. They had purchased one-way plane tickets for travel Oct. 17 from Dallas to Kabul for Tawhedi's wife and child and for the boy's mother and siblings, according to the affidavit. They also had found new homes for family pets.

The house in Moore was listed for sale in July at $230,000, according to the affidavit. It was relisted in September at $190,000 and is now under contract with a closing sale date of Oct. 15.

The Justice Department did not disclose how the alleged plot was uncovered. The FBI indicated in the affidavit its agents have been investigating since at least August.

The FBI used a longtime source in September to get the two to come to test fire guns at a rural location, according to the affidavit. At the FBI's direction, the source had first met with them to buy personal property advertised for sale on Facebook.

At a recorded Sept. 14 meeting at the rural location, the undercover FBI employee and another source posed as the first source's business partners, according to the affidavit. Tawhedi agreed then to buy the two assault rifles for $1,000 each. He also said he had shot guns "a lot" in Afghanistan.

The FBI reported the evidence against Tawhedi includes messages he sent to a facilitator of people interested in engaging in jihad. He admitted after his arrest he knew the man was affiliated with ISIS, the FBI said.

In a Sept. 25 message, he wrote his father-in-law's house had sold for $185,000 "but my father-in-law is not aware of anything," according to the affidavit.

The FBI reported Google records show Tawhedi accessed, viewed and saved ISIS propaganda. The evidence found on Google included an image of an armed militant in front of fire, smoke, rubble and the U.S. Capitol "with an ISIS flag being flown above it," according to the affidavit.

In March, he completed cryptocurrency transactions valued at at least $540 to a charity that fronts for and funnels money to ISIS, the FBI said.

#1  Islam. The Muslim Brotherhood is way more dangerous because they prepare the media and political institutions to view any violent attack such as this to mean that Muslims are the victims of Islamophobia

meaning import more and give access to power and free stuff.

It's the peaceful hardworking ones moving into key positions in advocacy groups, media and human rights organisations that are the big threat

No elections before reforms in Bangladesh: Muhammad Yunus
[GEO.TV] In a major development, Bangladesh's interim leader Muhammad Yunus has refused to give a timeframe for elections before electoral reforms in the country.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner was appointed the country's "chief advisor" after the student-led uprising that toppled ex-premier the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
in August.

The 84-year-old microfinance pioneer is helming a temporary administration, to tackle what he has called the "extremely tough" challenge of restoring democratic institutions.

"None of us are aiming at staying for a prolonged time," Yunus said of his caretaker government, in an interview published by the Prothom Alo newspaper.

"Reforms are pivotal," he added. "If you say, hold the election, we are ready to hold the election. But it would be wrong to hold the election first."

Hasina's 15-year rule saw widespread human rights

abuses, including the mass detention and extrajudicial killings of her political opponents.

More than 600 people were killed in the weeks leading up to her ouster, according to a preliminary United Nations

report which said the figure was likely an underestimate.

Her government was also accused of politicising courts and the civil service, as well as staging lopsided elections, to dismantle democratic checks on its power.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Boy, 1, is killed after babysitter's pit bulls mauled him and used him for 'tug of war'
Pit Bulldogs are wonderful when trained properly, and dangerous when not.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A one-year-old boy was mauled to death by his babysitter's pit bulls, who used the toddler in a 'tug of war' battle while a 13-year-old girl desperately tried to save him.

Jiryiah Johnson was in the care of 36-year-old Heather Rodriguez at her home in Converse, Texas, before she left the baby alone with her teenage daughter.

After the vicious attack, which lasted several minutes across different rooms in the home, Johnson was hospitalized in critical condition with bite wounds to his face, head and neck.

He suffered severe throat injuries and he was unable to breathe on his own, before he tragically passed away on Monday night.

Babysitter Rodriguez was arrested on a first-felony charge of injury to a child with serious bodily injury by omission - and she may face further charges for the injuries to her daughter, police said.

It's understood that Rodriguez had left to go to work - and put her daughter in charge of the baby in her absence.

Baby Jiryiah and the teenage girl were secured inside a bedroom with the doors shut, away from Rodriguez's three pit bulls, said Sheriff Javier Salazar of Bexar County Sheriff's Office in a news briefing.

The door to the bedroom had previously been damaged by the dogs and was broken down again before they began a gruesome attack on the baby.

According to Salazar, the teen tried to keep control of the baby but described the fight for the child like a 'tug of war' that lasted several minutes.

She then locked herself and the baby into a bathroom, where the dogs forced their way in again - further attacking the baby as well as the 13-year-old.

The girl then left the baby with the dogs in order to grab her phone and call for help, before taking the child into another room and barricading the door with her body.

Johnson's mother, Erika Castro, said she had not had time to process what had happened to her only child.

Sheriff Salazar described the baby's condition as 'heartbreaking' and said the teen was a 'hero' for her efforts against the dogs, which he described as 'XL pits'.

He said that the baby had been left in Rodriguez's care in the home before and the parents knew that Rodriguez had dogs but didn't know they were problematic.

'In a house full of vicious dogs, what did this lady, the suspect, think was going to happen,' he added.

Castro added: 'I thank that girl because... she did her best.'

Rodriguez had received a citation for having unleashed dogs earlier this year when they wouldn't let a man out of his car, and Salazar said they had responded to calls about the dogs in the past.

Kalb reported that it was unknown where Rodriguez went or how long she was away from the home, and added she was not being cooperative with their investigation.

Salazar added that Rodriguez seemed more concerned about the dogs than the baby, she refused to give a statement to Bexar County Sheriff's Office.

The dogs were turned over to Animal Care Services and Child Protective Services is also investigating. Rodriguez is in Bexar County Jail with bonds totaling $100,000.

Brazil’s Supreme Court has just lifted the ban on 𝕏 in the Country
[X]

The BBC adds:
In his decision, Justice Alexandre de Moraes said that he authorised the "immediate return" of X's activities in the country after it paid hefty fines and blocked accounts accused of spreading misinformation.

According to a statement, the site has paid fines totalling 28 million reais ($5.1m; £3.8m) and agreed to appoint a local representative, as required by Brazilian law.

Moraes had blocked access to the platform, owned by Elon Musk, after it had refused to ban several profiles deemed by the government to be spreading misinformation about the 2022 Brazilian Presidential election.

Anatel, Brazil's telecoms watchdog, has been instructed to ensure service has resumed for more than 20 million users in the country within 24 hours.

After months of defying the court’s orders, Musk fired the company’s Brazilian staff in late August and closed X's office in Brazil.

Many users switched to alternative sites such as Bluesky, and demand for VPNs (Virtual Proxy Networks) in Brazil soared.

But in September, the platform began to comply with the court's orders in an apparent U-turn.

On Tuesday, X said that it was "proud to return to Brazil".

"Giving tens of millions of Brazilians access to our indispensable platform was paramount throughout this entire process," its government affairs team wrote in a statement.

It appears that X has now complied with all of the judge’s demands in order to have the ban lifted.

Brazil is one of the biggest markets for the platform across the globe, as well as its largest in Latin America, with an estimated 22 million users.

Kamala Harris’s 60 Minutes interview was Prince Andrew-like in its awfulness
[SpectatorUK] Somebody give Bill Whitaker a prize. In his 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris, which aired last night, the CBS correspondent did what no other journalist has successfully done since the Vice President was thrust to the top of the Democratic ticket: journalism. He asked Harris challenging questions about the matters voters care about most. He was civil, unaggressive, but professional enough to push her for clear answers. And Harris just couldn’t cope. Her performance was Prince Andrew-like in its awfulness.

On immigration, for instance, Whitaker asked Harris why the Biden-Harris administration had only recently started tackling the issue, after almost four years and an unprecedented surge in illegal border crossings. Harris robotically blamed Congress and Donald Trump, ‘who wants to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem so he told his buddies in Congress “kill the bill, don’t let it move forward”.’

Whitaker was not deterred. ‘But there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration,’ he continued. ‘As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump. Was it a mistake to loosen immigration policies as much you do did?’

That caused the Harris-bot to malfunction. ‘It’s a long standing problem,’ she warbled. ‘And solutions are at hand and from day one, literally, we have been offering solutions…’

So Whitaker interrupted: ‘What I was asking was, was it a mistake to allow that kind of flood to happen in the first place?’

‘I think the policies that we have been promoting have been about fixing a problem not promoting a problem,’ she added.

‘But the numbers did quadruple under your watch?’ tried Whitaker, again.

Harris, ruffled, returned to square one: ‘And the numbers today…because of what we have done, we have cut the flow of illegal immigration, we have cut the flow of fentanyl, but we need Congress to act.’

Oh dear. That’s Harris’s overwhelming weakness as a political candidate. She can talk in soundbites and managerial slogans about ‘solutions not problems’ but on issues of substance she can’t actually offer any solutions, which is a problem.

Anti-Israel activists vandalize UK offices of Germany’s Allianz with red paint for insuring Elbit
[IsraelTimes] Pro-Paleostinian, anti-Israel activists targeted the British offices of German financial services firm Allianz, daubing the outside with red paint in protest over the company’s links to Israeli defense firm Elbit Systems.

Paleostine Action claims responsibility for the protest on social media platform X, and says demonstrators attacked 10 Allianz offices in the UK and "occupied" the insurer’s UK headquarters in Guildford, south of London, overnight.

"Without insurance, Elbit couldn’t operate in Britannia," Paleostine Action says in its post, describing Allianz as "investors and insurers of Israel’s biggest weapons firm."

UK-based spokespeople for Allianz, one of Europe’s biggest financial services groups, did not respond to a request for comment.

IDF destroys Hezbollah tunnel that crossed into Israel, steps up airstrikes
[IsraelTimes] Barrage of 25 rockets fired at Kiryat Shmona, launchers used in earlier Haifa attack destroyed; military says strike killed chief of Hezbollah’s logistical HQ

Israeli forces have demolished a small Hezbollah tunnel that crossed into Israeli territory from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, the military announced Tuesday, as its ground operation north of the border continued to target the terror group’s infrastructure.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, the 20-meter-long tunnel had no exit in Israeli territory, and its path crossed the UN-recognized Blue Line by about 10 meters, in the western sector of the border, near the Lebanese village of Marwahin, just across from the Israeli community of Zar’it.

No towns were ever under any threat by the tunnel, the military said

According to Israeli military assessments, Hezbollah began the construction of the tunnel about two years ago, and it was quickly identified by the IDF. The military said it wanted to keep tabs on the tunnel as it was being built, rather than reveal to Hezbollah that it had intelligence of the underground route.
That’s enough to give bad guys nightmares. What and where else have they been watching? Other than everywhere there was a cell phone, beeper, or walkie-talkie, I mean….
The tunnel was physically located by commandos during raids in southern Lebanon several months ago, though the military stressed that it was previously known to the IDF and it had full control over the area. The military said troops searched the tunnel and found weapons inside, including explosives and anti-tank missiles. Now that the IDF is operating in southern Lebanon with larger forces, it said it took the opportunity to demolish the tunnel.

According to the IDF, there are no other tunnels known to cross into Israel from Lebanon.
So they say now. But until the beepers started exploding, they never said a word about them either, so there you go.
Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter awoke groggily, his hand still stuck in the Ming vase...
a barrage of some 25 rockets was fired from Lebanon at the northern city of Kiryat Shmona Tuesday evening, the IDF said. According to the military, some of the rockets were intercepted, while others impacted in the area. There were no reports of injuries or major damage.

Some of the rocket launchers used by Hezbollah to fire 105 projectiles at Haifa earlier in the day were struck by an Israeli Air Force drone, the military said, adding that it carried out several strikes against Hezbollah buildings and anti-tank missile launch posts in southern Lebanon over the past day.

After the barrage, the IDF Home Front Command issued stricter guidelines in several cities near Haifa, preventing schools from operating in Kiryat Ata, Kiryat Bialik, Kiryat Yam, and Kiryat Motzkin. Schools will stay open in Haifa itself, provided that a bomb shelter can be reached quickly enough, the IDF said.

AIRSTRIKE KILLS CHIEF OF HEZBOLLAH’S LOGISTICS CENTER
Overnight, the IDF said it struck a weapons depot and another Hezbollah site in Beirut, and Monday night, the military said a dronezap was carried out against a school in southern Lebanon’s Tayr Harfa, where a group of Hezbollah operatives were spotted.

IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Tuesday that 50 operatives and at least six top commanders in Hezbollah’s so-called Southern Front were killed in a wide wave of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in southern Lebanon the previous day.

"The turbans we killed yesterday are the commanders and turbans who were set to — on the day that the order would be given — infiltrate Israel, into towns in the north, to murder and kidnap Israeli civilians," Hagari said.

The IDF named one of those killed as the head of Hezbollah’s logistical headquarters, Suhail Hussein Husseini. He was also a member of Hezbollah’s Jihad Council, the terror group’s top military body.

"Husseini played a crucial role in weapon transfers between Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and Hezbollah and was responsible for distributing the advanced weaponry among Hezbollah’s units, overseeing both the transportation and allocation of these arms," the IDF said.

The military said that he was "responsible for the budgeting and logistical management of Hezbollah’s most sensitive projects, including the organization’s war plans and other special operations, such as coordinating terrorist attacks against the State of Israel from Lebanon and Syria."

The military said the headquarters also included Hezbollah’s R&D, which is responsible for the manufacture of precision-guided missiles.

On the ground, troops of the Golani Brigade captured a Hezbollah fighting position in southern Lebanon, located in an olive grove and an adjacent home, the IDF said. The military said the troops found a primed mortar aimed at Israel, ammunition, tunnel infrastructure, and resting areas for the Hezbollah operatives. Inside the home, the IDF said the soldiers found a cache of weapons, including firearms, anti-tank missiles, and other equipment.

The IDF said the equipment and site would have been used to ambush Israeli soldiers and attack towns in northern Israel.

450 HEZBOLLAH OPERATIVES KILLED IN WEEK OF OPERATIONS
According to fresh IDF assessments on Tuesday, some 450 Hezbollah operatives had been killed by troops and airstrikes amid the past week of ground operations. Four IDF divisions are currently operating in Lebanese villages along the border, the latest being deployed on Monday night.

The IDF’s 98th Division summarized a week of operations in southern Lebanon, reporting that its troops had killed over 200 Hezbollah operatives in several villages adjacent to the Israeli border.

The elite formation of paratrooper and commando units, joined by the 7th Armored Brigade and elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, were the first Israeli forces to enter Lebanon when the official ground operations began on September 30.

The IDF said the division had demolished several tunnels and located hundreds of weapons in villages close to the border, which were intended to have been used by Hezbollah to attack northern Israel.

More than 100 tons of explosives have been used by the division to demolish Hezbollah sites above and below ground, according to military sources.

The division, which previously battled Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
for months, said Hezbollah is a different enemy from Hamas, but not necessarily stronger. The division has found Hezbollah to be a far more organized fighting force than Hamas, but largely operating above ground and not in tunnels like the terror group in Gaza. Hezbollah also has more advanced weapons and better fortifications, the division has identified.

Still, the division said it has the upper hand and has been successful with its operations.

Last week, six members of the Egoz Commando Unit were killed during a fierce battle with Hezbollah operatives, and another three paratroopers were killed in separate incidents that same day.

Separately Tuesday evening, in Syria, an alleged Israeli airstrike on Damascus targeted a top Hezbollah official in the terror group’s Unit 4400, the Saudi news outlet al-Hadath reported. Unit 4400 is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran and its proxies to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Syria’s state-run SANA news agency, citing a military source, reported that seven non-combatants were killed and 11 others were maimed in the strike, which hit a residential and commercial building in the Mezzeh district of the capital.

In addition to the casualties, the strike caused "significant material damage," it said. It added that rescue forces are still working to extract people from under the rubble.

Hezbollah’s top leaders have repeatedly stated over the last year that the group would not stop its fire until a Gaza ceasefire was reached, but that appeared to change Tuesday after deputy leader Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
expressed support for efforts to reach an end to the fighting without mentioning the war in the enclave.

Israel stepped up its strikes on Hezbollah in recent weeks as it seeks to push the terror group away from the border in accordance with a 2006 UN resolution.

The escalation followed Israel’s decision last month to make the return of northern residents to their homes an official war aim. Some 60,000 residents were evacuated from northern towns on the Lebanon border shortly after Hamas’s October 7 onslaught, out of fear Hezbollah would carry out a similar attack.

Attacks on northern Israel have resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians in Israel. In addition, 33 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September.

Two soldiers in northern Israel have been killed in a drone attack from Iraq, and there ihave also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 516 members — including Nasrallah — who have been killed by Israel during the war, mostly in Lebanon but also some in Syria. Another 94 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have also been killed.

These numbers have not been consistently updated since Israel began its new offensive against Hezbollah in September, including the ground operation in which the military says at least 450 Hezbollah operatives have been killed.

Oct. 7 Anniversary: Hamas Leader Wants ‘New Fronts’ of Jihad
[X]

[PJMedia] To all those delusional individuals who still think that Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
and its Gazook supporters will ever agree to peaceful arbitration, think again. In characteristic form, a Hamas leader just called for an expansion of Jihad at the international level.

Hamas, with the financial incentivizing of the Paleostinian Authority and the support of the majority of Gazooks, plans to wage terrorism on Israel until it is completely wiped off the map. Oct. 7, as horrific and deadly as it was, presents a preview of what Hamas would like to do to all Israelis. As the latest refutation of idiotic Westerners’ claims that giving Paleostinians more land and money will make them stop fighting, Memri reported that a Hamas leader has ambitious plans for expanding jihad ("holy war" in Islam) on the international level as the "duty of Jihad."

Khaled Mashal,

Mashal said, "Our losses are tactical, whereas our enemy's losses are strategic. This is a fact. Our losses are tactical — pain and death, which is martyrdom." Moslems refer to eliminated faceless myrmidons as deaders.

"We are suffering, but it is all for the sake of Allah," bragged Mashal. "Today, we are making tremendous and painful sacrifices, but they will lead to great horizons, inshallah." Islamic holy texts encourage the killing of non-Moslems, especially Jews. "The enemy is losing its strategic path, and is accelerating its certain annihilation. It has lost on all levels. In addition, all Moslem and non-Moslem nations, throughout history, had to pay steep prices," Mashal added.

This is an interesting point, because Islam has been spreading for centuries by weaponizing war, rape, torture, and terrorism. In fact, Oct. 7 is the anniversary of the 1571 Battle of Lepanto, a great victory for Christian forces against invading Moslems, now commemorated in the Catholic Church as the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (to whom the Christians prayed). Thanks to Lepanto’s fighters, Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
was saved. Islam has been the same for over a thousand years; always trying to take over Christian and Jewish nations by violence.

Mashal eagerly declared, "The resistance axis has joined us, and we are thankful for that, but today, the rest of the forces of our nation need to do two things: They should open new fronts for the resistance. This is the duty of Jihad. The second thing is that we need to open new political and legal fronts. We should persecute this entity on the international level." So much for the pro-Hamas United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
’ assertions that if Israel would give Gazooks much of their land, including Jerusalem, peace would prevail.

And as for the "two-state solution," so touted by the Biden-Harris administration and others, that was tried. Jordan was arbitrarily created as an Arab state out of land that rightfully should belong to Israel, and Jordanians promptly launched war on Israel in 1948. Giving Arabs the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip also just provided yet another base for terrorist operations. As a different Hamas leader said last year, the faceless myrmidons are prepared to commit the Oct. 7 atrocities "again and again" to annihilate Israel.

Mashal said, "Jihad by money is great, but it is no longer enough. We want Jihad with weapons and the [sacrifice] of lives. We should open additional fronts. The enemy is fighting us everywhere, and we should fight it the way it fights us." When faceless myrmidons state genocidal goals, believe them.

PIA special flight brings 71 Pakistanis home from Syria
[GEO.TV] The government has evacuated 71 Paks from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and Syria as a special flight of Pakistain International Airlines (PIA) carrying them arrived in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...

in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The flight transported sixty-seven Pak nationals repatriated from Lebanon who travelled to Damascus by road before being airlifted to Pakistain, said the Foreign Office.

Four other Paks from Syria were also evacuated, according to the FO.

The Foreign Office said in a statement that the security, transport and food arrangements were made by the Pakistain Embassy in Lebanon and Syria to ensure incident-free evacuation through Lebanon.

Upon their arrival, the evacuees were welcomed at the airport by Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, Federal Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, and Sindh Industries Minister Jam Ikramullah Dharejo.

Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring the safe return of Paks from Lebanon, assuring that the remaining Paks stranded in Lebanon would also be repatriated soon.

He also acknowledged the timely actions of the embassies in facilitating the swift return of the Paks, expressing gratitude that 71 Paks had safely returned from war-hit Lebanon.

Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a Coalition of Iranian-Backed Paramilitary Groups in Iraq and Syria, announced that they had launched Drones against a “Vital Target” in Israel
[PUBLISH.TWITTER] So proud of launching… actually hitting anything is Allah’s job.

The Iraq Resistance Front is just the Iran-linked Shiite Popular Mobilization Force paramilitaries with a false nose and mustache. Mostly they shoot rockets at American forces in Iraq — shooting missiles at Israel is something new for them.

Europe
Osama bin Laden's son deported from France, barred from returning
[GEO.TV] A son of Al Qaeda founder the late Osama bin Laden
...... who is now beyond all cares and woe......
has been barred from returning to La Belle France, where he lived for years painting landscapes in a Normandy village, after allegedly posting comments on social media deemed to have glorified terrorism.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau said he had signed an order banning Omar Bin Laden from La Belle France after the judiciary confirmed the legality of a prior deportation order issued on grounds of national security.

Retailleau gave no details about the timing of the deportation or where Bin Laden had been sent.

"Mr Bin Laden, who has lived in the Orne region for several years as the spouse of a Brit, posted comments on his social networks in 2023 that glorified terrorism," Retailleau said on X.

"The administrative ban ensures that Mr Bin Laden cannot return to La Belle France for any reason whatsoever."

Omar could not be reached for comment.

Pascal Martin, who helped Bin Laden sell his paintings, described him as a man who opposed hard boy ideology, who earned a living from his artwork and paid his taxes. He was currently in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, Martin said.

"We became friends and I can tell you that nothing that is being said resembles the Omar I know," Martin told Rooters.

According to local weekly newspaper Le Publicateur Libre, Bin Laden caught the attention of French authorities over a social media post on the anniversary of his father's birthday. Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces in 2011.
Khaama Press has no additional information, but they do have a photo of Mr. Bin Laden and a woman who may be his English wife.
Deutsche Welle has a photo of him in front of some of his paintings, which to my untutored eye qualify as art therapy, adding:
Omar, who left his family before the 9/11 attacks, first made international headlines in the mid-2000s for giving interviews to Western media outlets. He expressed affection for his father, but disavowed his terrorist acts, making him the only one of Osama bin Laden's more than 20 children to speak out against him publicly.

He also garnered headlines in 2006 for marrying Jane Felix-Browne, a British woman 24 years his senior who later changed her name to Zaina Mohamed Al-Sabah.

The UK government denied him a spousal visa to live in the country in 2008, as did Spain several months later.

He has published a memoir about growing up under his father's iron fist, describing routine physical abuse and exposure to dangerous and squalid living conditions across several different countries. However, upon his father's death in 2011 he complained that US special forces had "violated international law" by not allowing him to have a proper burial.

Bin Laden was granted a residency permit in France in 2016, where he began working full-time as a painter. Following his 2023 deportation, he and his wife are reportedly living in Qatar, where they had resided between 2008 and 2016.

Government Corruption
Hochul pushing staff changes at 'Titanic' City Hall as she avoids ousting Adams before Nov. 5 election: Wright resigns, Bahi charged
[NYPOST] Gov. Kathy Hochul is intent on filling top posts in Eric Adams
...Hizonner da Mare of Noo Yawk. As a Manchurian candidate, Hizonner was all in favor of law and order and that kind of stuff. Once in office, a bunch of his friends found cushy jobs with the city, the windows kept getting broken, and Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg remained right where he was. Most people comfort themselves with the thought that he's not Bill di Blasio but that's pretty small comfort with kids who actually go to school getting bumped off while standing in front of them. But he's a Dem, so the rubes will vote for him next election too, so he's what they deserve...
' administration as City Hall turns into the ''Titanic'' — but insiders say she won't push out the mayor before the election for fear of backlash.

Exercising the governor's authority to oust the embattled Adams would carry outsize political risks for Hochul, including alienating black leaders who've rallied behind Hizzoner and the unsavory potential of her former boss, Andrew Sonny Cuomo, jumping into the mayoral race, sources said.

Hochul is likely also smarting from Rep. Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
bluntly blaming her for 2022 losses in New York congressional races that cost Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
their House majority, said political strategist Hank Sheinkopf.

''The trick here is to not remove [Adams] before next June, if possible, so you don't provide the opportunity for someone like Andrew Cuomo to come into power,'' he said. ''She is worried about suburban black votes.

NYC Deputy Mayor Sheena Wright resigns
[NYPOST] First Deputy Mayor of New York City Sheena Wright officially resigned Tuesday — the latest high-profile departure in an administration that's been rattled by a sweeping federal corruption case.

News of Wright's imminent resignation broke last Friday, with one source saying ''she's leaving because she's being shown the door.''

She will be replaced by Maria Torres-Springer, the city's deputy mayor for housing.

Mohamed Bahi charged with witness tampering and destruction of evidence in Mayor Adams case
[NYPOST] A former top official in the Adams administration official was charged with witness tampering and destruction of evidence by the feds on Tuesday — one day after he left City Hall.

Mohammed Bahi told witnesses in the historic corruption case against Mayor Eric Adams to lie to federal agents, a complaint unsealed Tuesday contends.

Bahi also deleted a messaging app off his phone before the feds served a search warrant at his home in July, the court papers state.

The complaint comes a day after city officials said Bahi, who served as the mayor's liaison to the Moslem community, had resigned.

Bahi didn't answer several calls from The Post.

Hezbollah threatens more attacks if Israel keeps bombarding Lebanon
[GEO.TV] The Iran-backed Hezbollah group warned that it would intensify attacks on Israel, including the northern port city of Haifa, if it continues to strike Lebanon.

"The Israeli enemy's intensifying strikes" mean that "Haifa and other locations will be targeted by our rockets just as much as Kiryat Shmona, Metula, and other" locations, the group said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Naim Kassem, Nasrallah’s former deputy, admitted Hezbollah’s military distress by calling for an ‘unconditional’ ceasefire; Israel demands Hezbollah disarm and pull back beyond the Litani River
[PUBLISH.TWITTER] Yesterday he “unconditionally” demanded Israel put down weapons first. Now he is separating from Gaza’s war…

Israel’s response is just like UNSC Resolution 1701, that ended the 2006 Lebanon War. The one that Hassan Nasrallah swore Hezbollah would respect, back in the day. Sadly, he can’t swear again to respect it now.

That’s one message. See here for a different one. And then there is pressure from Iran, according to the Times of Israel:
According to a Channel 12 report on Tuesday citing unnamed sources in Beirut, Iran is pushing Hezbollah to seek out a ceasefire deal in order to "cut its losses" after a long list of brass hats in the group have been killed in recent weeks.

Visiting Beirut on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Tehran backs efforts for a ceasefire in Leb
on the condition it would be backed by Hezbollah and be simultaneous with a ceasefire in the Gazoo Strip.

US State Department front man Matthew Miller said Tuesday that Qassem’s public backing of ceasefire efforts shows that Hezbollah is "on the back foot and is getting battered," leading the group to "change their tune."

Khartoum police redeploy in recaptured districts
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudanese police forces announced on Tuesday their redeployment in districts of Khartoum Bahri recaptured by the army, aiming to secure the areas and clear debris left by fighting.

The army retook the districts of Al-Halfaya, Al-Droushab, Al-Kadru, and Al-Samrab in a military operation launched with allied forces in Khartoum and Khartoum Bahri on Sept. 26. The operation has expanded to include areas in the states of Sennar, Al Jazirah, and Darfur.

''Khartoum State Police have begun deploying in the liberated areas in the Bahri locality,'' police spokesman Brigadier General Fathal Rahman Mohamed Al-Toum said in a statement.

He added that Khartoum State Police Director Lt Gen Amir Abdel-Monim ordered Bahri local police to immediately resume work and reopen Al-Halfaya, Al-Darushab, and Al-Sleit stations. Security forces will also be deployed to protect neighbourhoods and remove debris.

Al-Toum said police forces are prepared for further deployment in recaptured areas, including community policing in neighbourhoods and the rehabilitation of police stations.

Khartoum Bahri police media reported that Major General Sami Abdallah Abu Al-Hassan inaugurated the Al-Droushab police station, paving the way for deployment in other area stations. Forces have been deployed to conduct criminal investigations, maintain security, and participate in checkpoints and patrols.

An eyewitness from al-Damukiya told Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...

You stand ‘em up, the IDF’ll kill ‘em. Teamwork cleaning out the shallow end the gene pool.
[GEO.TV] Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
leader-in-exile Khaled Meshaal said the Paleostinian group would rise "like a phoenix" from the ashes despite heavy losses during a year of war with Israel, and that it continues to recruit fighters and manufacture weapons.

"Paleostinian history is made of cycles," Meshaal, 68, a senior Hamas figure under overall leader Yahya Sinwar, told Rooters in an interview.

"We go through phases where we lose deaders (victims) and we lose part of our military capabilities, but then the Paleostinian spirit rises again, like the phoenix, thanks to God."

Meshaal, who survived an Israeli liquidation attempt in 1997 after he was injected with poison and was overall Hamas leader from 1996-2017, said the group was still able to mount ambushes against Israeli troops.

"We lost part of our ammunition and weapons, but Hamas is still recruiting young men and continues to manufacture a significant portion of its ammunition and weapons," said Meshaal, without providing details.

Meshaal said he saw no prospects for peace while Netanyahu's government is in power.

"As long as the (Israeli) occupation exists, the region remains a ticking time bomb," Meshaal said.

Largest Crude Transhipment Hub In Crimea On Fire After Ukraine Drone Attack
[ZeroHedge] Ukraine says it successfully hit a major oil terminal in Crimea in an overnight drone and missile operation. The impacted oil terminal is in Feodosia, on the south coast of the Crimean peninsula, and is believed to be a key Russian military supply hub. It is also the biggest petroleum transhipment hub in the region.

"At night, a successful strike was carried out on the enemy’s offshore oil terminal in temporarily occupied Feodosia, Crimea," the Ukrainian military announced Monday.

It further described the strike on the key facility as part of an ongoing effort to "undermine the military and economic potential of the Russian Federation."

On the Crimean side, the following was confirmed:

Russian-installed authorities in Crimea said a fire had broken out at an oil facility in the Black Sea port town of some 70,000 people and that there were no casualties.

The defense ministry said that 12 Ukrainian attack drones had been downed over the peninsula overnight, out of a total of 21 deployed by Kyiv against Russian targets.

RT News also confirmed the major oil hub is on fire. Such attacks on vital energy infrastructure have proven hard for Russia to defend against, as they've come at a fast pace, but this still hasn't changed the state of the front lines in Eastern Ukraine, where Kiev forces are being steadily pushed back.

A Ukrainian media report has described of videos from the scene, "More night videos from Feodosia. It is clearly visible that at least three tanks are on fire." And related to more footage: "Later, a morning video was posted on the Telegram channel, where plumes of smoke can be seen over Feodosia."

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in a new interview with Newsweek took the opportunity to warn the West yet again that it is playing with fire in mulling giving Kiev the greenlight for long-range strikes on Russian territory.

Kupyansk direction: fighting in the Peschanoye area and new threats to the rear infrastructure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces

- In the Kupyansk-Svatovsky direction, Russian troops continue their offensive west of Peschanoye with the goal of reaching the Oskol River. At the same time, on the northern face, the front is gradually approaching Kupyansk.

– In the Sin'kovka area, units of the Russian Armed Forces are fighting in the forest to the west of the settlement, where, if successful, they will be able to reach the outskirts of Petropavlovka, an important stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the eastern approaches to Kupyansk.

– To the south, Russian troops have improved their tactical position in the area of Kislovka and Stepova Novoselovka. The latter settlement was considered liberated for a long time, but footage of strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions in its vicinity published online indicates that the Russian Armed Forces have no physical control over it.

– At the same time, the village actually exists very conditionally – even before the start of the SVO, its population was no more than 20 people. The offensive in this area is supported by crews of TOS-1 Solntsepek flamethrower systems, inflicting significant losses on the enemy in manpower.

– West of Peschanoye, Russian troops are overcoming the Ukrainian Armed Forces defenses on the Kolesnikovka-Kruglyakovka line, driving a “wedge” deeper into the enemy’s ranks. Today, the assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces are less than four kilometers from the Oskol riverbed, access to which will allow physically cutting off the O-21-19-42 and R-79 highways.

- In this case, the Ukrainian Armed Forces group on the left bank will be "cut", which will complicate its supply. The Russian Armed Forces also carried out a series of attacks to expand the control zone: northwest of Tabayevka, the attack aircraft drove the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of several strongholds, and south of the village, they cleared the territory of Berestovoye.

– Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft regularly operate on targets in Kupyansk, hitting temporary deployment points and ammunition depots of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian troops are also actively striking pontoon crossings – eight strikes on them have been recorded over the past three weeks.

– In order to maintain communication across the river, Ukrainian formations are creating sand embankments, which are also becoming targets for attacks by the Russian Armed Forces. Thus, three airstrikes have been carried out on two crossings in the area of Kupyansk and Kupyansk-Uzlovaya over the past four days.

18:49 Seversk – Verkhnekamenskoye.

Flag of the Russian Federation installed on the roof of a residential building in the western part of Verkhnekamenskoye, more than four km from the line of combat contact.

18:12 Advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kurakhovsky direction –map.

- We continue to expand the control zone north of Ugledar. The enemy must be pushed away from the city in order to begin its active use for military purposes and ensure the evacuation of civilians.

– Fighting also continues to the north on the outskirts of Katerinovka and not far from Bogoyavlenka.

– To the west of Ugledar, we continue to expand in the Prechistovka area, and also gain a foothold in Zolotaya Niva.

– The enemy is actively busy strengthening the defense of Novoukrainka and Bogoyavlenka, expecting that our forces will soon begin to put more active pressure on these settlements.

Bennett to Jordan Peterson: 'Iran's terrorism arms, commands, and destroys countries'
[IsraelNationalNews] Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett recently held a lengthy interview with Jordan Peterson about the ongoing struggle against Iran and its various proxies throughout the Middle East.

"The Islamic Republic operates as an "octopus of terror" with its arms all across the Middle East," Bennet declared. "Every country it touches it It ultimately destroys. It empowers, funds, and arms terror, and ultimately commands proxies to generate terrorism, locally against Israel, but not exclusiveley. We need to topple the Iranian regime."

He explained the flaws in the attempts to do so thus far: "We have expended and and exhausted ourselves fighting those fingertips of the octopus and instead of directing our energy to topple the head of the octopus. How do you topple the regime, though? I looked at the Cold War as an analogy. America never bombed Russia. We need America and Israel and the West to apply tremendous diplomatic and economic pressures to accelerate the demise of Iran."

Bennett is confident that the task is doable. "The regime is incompetent and corrupt. It will fall because it is spending too much time keeping its own citizens in line and does not watch its enemies enough. The Iranian government is despised by its people, and when I met with the Biden administration, we outlined about thirty different areas where we could take soft action against the regime. For example, one of their strategies is to turn off the internet to prevent protests spreading; we could instead promote the use of things like Starlink to get around that."

The international community, Bennett says, is part of the process - but must do more. "Other states have already started to help, like with the Abraham Accords. Iran tried in every way to dismantle the Abraham Accords. Everyone in them hates radical Islam, but they need Israel to step up to the plate and show them the way forward in choking off the regime."

Regarding Iranian proxies near Israel, Bennett declared that there needed to be a conceptual change for world leadership. "This was like Stalin with Operation Barbosa. he had massed great numbers of troops on the border, but was still surprised because he has the concept of Peace with Germany. There is no peace with terrorism."

-Signs, Portents, and the Weather-
Drug overdoses falling in 40 states for first time in decades - but there's a morbid theory why
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Forty states have seen drug overdose rates decrease over the past year as the epidemic strangling the US for decades appears to have loosened its grip.
This assumes, of course, that the reported numbers are both true and reasonably complete. Since we know that a statistically significant number of cities and towns are not reporting their crime numbers to the federal clearing houses, it seems reasonable to assume that their drug overdose numbers are also not being reported, or perhaps not fully reported.
Or media suppressed
Nationally, overdose deaths fell about 10 percent in the year ending in April 2024 compared to the period a year a before, from more than 112,000 to about 101,000.

North Carolina and Nebraska led the charge, with declines measuring 23 percent and 30 percent, respectively. Alaska bucked the trend, with overdoses increasing 42 percent. The reasoning is unclear but could be due to remote areas having less access to treatment.

The national decline is believed to be linked with increased access to addiction-busting medications such as buprenorphine and Narcan and the public health messaging blitz about the dangers of fentanyl. Still others have put forth a more morbid theory – that the fentanyl crisis has been so catastrophic it has simply run out of people to kill.

Overdose rates skyrocketed during the Covid pandemic when millions suddenly lost access to in-person counseling and access to medication-assisted treatments. The forced isolation also likely exacerbated people’s cravings combined with mental health issues.

Prepandemic, in 2019, about 72,000 people died from overdoses in the U.S.

In 2020, that number skyrocketed to around 94,000. In 2021, it climbed again to 109,000, and again in 2022 to about 111,000.

But in 2023, the figure dropped slightly to about 108,000. The latest drop is the most recent since a slight decline in the early spring of 2022.

Behind Nebraska and North Carolina showing the steepest declines in overdose deaths were states that have been ravaged by opioids. Vermont came in third with a 19.4 percent decline. After Vermont came Ohio, with a 19.3 percent decline followed by Pennsylvania with an 18.6 percent drop and then Indiana, with an 18 percent drop.

States in the west did not fair so well. In addition to Alaska seeing a 42 percent rise in overdose deaths, Oregon saw a 22.3 percent increase, and Nevada saw an 18.2 percent increase. Washington came in fourth place with a rise of 13.8 percent followed by Utah with 8.1 percent.

More people are aware – and fearful – of the dangers of fentanyl than ever, according to Austin Wynn, who runs Never Alone Recovery, a free source for people dealing with addiction to find rehabs and intervention assistance. Public health messaging, whether it comes from officials in the government, advocates, or the media, appears to be having an impact.

He told DailyMail.com: ‘I do think that fear has been a driver in seeing some people take different measures. I'll just tell you what I tell parents, the likelihood of you dying from any illicit street drug now, I would argue, is, at minimum, 10 times greater than it was a few years ago.’

Mr Wynn added: ‘You get a lot of sensationalism in the news, which I don't particularly agree with all the time.

'But this is one thing that it is ironic as it is, I don't feel has been sensationalized enough.

‘You're hearing stories now like in California, there's a big patch of stuff maybe two, three years ago, where kids were buying weed, and it was laced with fentanyl. I know of cases in Chicagoland area where it's cocaine.’

Doctors are also increasingly prescribing medications like buprenorphine and suboxone, which reduce cravings for opioids by only partially activating opioid receptors in the brain, though not as strongly as heroin or fentanyl would. By doing this, the user still feels some pain relief and euphoria but at much lower levels, which ends up reducing cravings for more.

Access to this type of medication is scattered, though, and uptake is still too low considering how many people would benefit. Still, prescriptions are on the rise. Between 2016 and 2021, buprenorphine prescriptions increased by 36 percent, reaching nearly 13.9 million, while the number of doctors prescribing buprenorphine rose significantly by 86 percent, reaching about 59,000.

Buprenorphine has a ‘ceiling effect,’ meaning that once a specific dose is reached, taking more won’t intensify its effects. As a result, if someone uses a more potent opioid while taking buprenorphine, they won’t experience the usual high. Additionally, since buprenorphine partially activates opioid receptors, it helps to prevent withdrawal symptoms, making it easier for people to stop using more potent opioids.

Healthcare workers have historically been hesitant to use medication to treat addiction due to a general lack of resources as well as a shortage of professionals qualified and knowledgeable enough to prescribe them. For those who have not sought out medication-assisted treatment, the overdose reversal drug Narcan has already saved around 27,000 lives, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. Narcan, also known as naloxone, is an opioid antagonist. It is used by inserting the nozzle of the drug into the nose and spraying it when someone is in the early stages of an overdose.

Narcan was made available without a prescription in March 2023. Since then, the lifesaving nasal spray has been stocked in vending machines, at nightclubs, bars, and even schools. When inhaled, the medicine is absorbed through mucous membranes in the nose, rapidly entering the bloodstream and traveling to the brain. Once there, the medicine competes with opioids, attaching themselves to receptors in the brain. It attaches to the brain's receptors, replacing the opioid. This blunts the effects of opiates on the brain, stopping an overdose from progressing.

And this type of sighting is almost daily (I drive a lot because of the nature of my work).

Cyber
Discord Messenger Blocked in Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Roskomnadzor (RKN) blocked the Discord messenger in Russia for violating legal requirements, according to the agency’s order.

“Access to the Discord messenger has been restricted due to the violation of Russian legislation, the implementation of which is necessary to prevent the use of the messenger for terrorist and extremist purposes, the recruitment of citizens to commit them, the sale of drugs, in connection with the posting of illegal information,” TASS quotes the agency as saying.

The press service recalled that earlier, RNC sent a number of demands to the messenger administration to remove prohibited content, but the materials remained on the platform.

On October 1, Regnum reported that Roskomnadzor sent the administration of the social network Discord a demand to remove 947 prohibited materials. Roskomnadzor noted that the messenger received a fine of 6 million rubles for failing to remove images with child pornography.

On September 30, Moscow's Tagansky Court fined Discord 3.5 million rubles for failing to remove prohibited information under Part 2 of Article 13.50 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation ("Failure to fulfill obligations by the owner of a social network"). The sanctions under the article provide for a fine of up to 4 million rubles.

Since March 2024, the company has been included in the Register of Social Networks, which obliges it to independently find and block prohibited content.

Deputy Nemkin: Discord has become a convenient platform for criminals

The Discord messenger, blocked in Russia at the request of Roskomnadzor, has become a convenient platform for criminals, Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, told Regnum News Agency.

"Instead of a space for harmless conversations about games, Discord has become a convenient platform for criminals. First of all, thanks to anonymity - no one requires new users to confirm any information about themselves. And as we know, anonymity always goes hand in hand with crime," the deputy said.

The presence of a huge number of children on the platform is of great interest to criminals. Among them may be recruiters of drug dealers and representatives of the Ukrainian special services, who often persuade children to commit illegal acts, Nemkin believes.

"And this is a very serious threat, given the fact that today Ukrainian special services are actively attacking our children on social networks to recruit them and force them to commit illegal acts. Just recently, nine teenagers were detained who were preparing attacks under the influence of Ukrainian curators via Discord. Also detained were 39 radicals aged 14 to 35, who, on instructions from Kiev, through this platform incited teenagers to violence against representatives of state bodies, classmates and teachers," the deputy said.

He recalled that Roskomnadzor recently demanded that the platform administration remove 947 illegal materials.

“Including child pornography, calls for extremism, involving minors in committing illegal acts, calls for suicide, propaganda of LGBT (an extremist movement whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation), pro-drug content – practically the entire spectrum of information banned in Russia,” Nemkin noted.

Director of the Association of Professional Users of Social Networks and Messengers Vladimir Zykov recalled a high-profile case of the platform being used by terrorists.

"There is a well-known case when ISIS (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) communicated and discussed their internal affairs via Discord. Various destructive organizations also recruit people into their ranks via Discord," Zykov told Regnum News Agency.

The expert noted that the service still refuses to remove a huge amount of prohibited content that contradicts the rules of the platform itself.

[ColonelCassad] US Creates System to Combat Information Threats: Focus on Narratives about Biolabs in Ukraine

The US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), a division of the Pentagon, announced a search for contractors to develop a system aimed at analyzing and countering "foreign malign influence" (Foreign Malign Influence, FMI) in the global information space. The project is aimed at protecting DTRA's mission to counter weapons of mass destruction and provides for the creation of a comprehensive information intelligence tool.

The system that DTRA plans to create is a powerful information intelligence tool that is capable of analyzing narratives, tactics, and techniques used in social networks, news sources, and other open data.
How do you spell AI?
Particularly interesting is the fact that the project mentions the topic of biolabs in Ukraine.

Many independent sources confirm the existence of American biological laboratories on the territory of Ukraine. The DTRA and the US State Department classify this as disinformation, which suggests that the system being created as part of this project will not be used to counter disinformation, but to suppress any alternative points of view that go against the official US line. This is an example of how, under the guise of “defense against disinformation,” one can promote one’s own version of events and block information that does not correspond to Washington’s interests.

It is also important to note that the system will collect and analyze huge amounts of open data (Publicly Available Information, PAI). Despite claims to protect personally identifiable information (PII) and US citizen information (USPI), there is a risk that on a global scale the system will track and process user data all over the world, which may lead to a violation of their right to privacy. The scale of monitoring that is proposed raises legitimate concerns, as the US, in fact, can use this system to spy on information flows in key regions where it wants to increase its influence.
Hillary Clinton, queen of disinformation, issues two-faced call for censorship
It is also worth noting that the project is aimed at "non-aligned countries", i.e. those states that are not yet in the orbit of Western influence. This clearly indicates that the main task of the system will not just be protection from foreign narratives, but also maintaining control over public opinion in these countries to prevent them from leaving the US influence. For example, such technologies can be used to manage the political situation in countries in Africa, Asia or Latin America, where the US is trying to maintain its geopolitical positions.

The DTRA initiative is far from just protection from disinformation. The US is creating a system of global control over information flows, which can be used both to suppress inconvenient narratives and to advance its strategic interests. In the context of information warfare, this is a new step towards dominance in the global information space. The question is how other countries can resist such large-scale initiatives and protect their information sovereignty.

Hurricane Milton: Live updates tracking the storm's path
[NYPOST] Ginormous Hurricane Milton is churning toward Florida's Gulf Coast, where it's expected to have a devastating impact when it makes landfall Wednesday.

Meteorologists are warning the monster storm could be one of the biggest hurricanes in history.

It's ''nearing the mathematical limit of what Earth's atmosphere over this ocean water can produce,'' one Sunshine State meteorologist said late Monday.

Early Tuesday, Milton was downgraded to a Category 4 with maximum sustained winds of 155 miles per hour — after topping 200 mph as a Category 5 on Monday. But Milton is expected to gain strength as it surges toward Tampa, Fort Meyers and other areas of the gulf coast.

Hurricane Milton heading toward Florida could strengthen to Category 6

[Regnum] Hurricane Milton, approaching the American state of Florida, may strengthen to an officially non-existent category six. This was reported on October 8 by the American magazine Newsweek, citing a study by climatologists.

According to experts, it is necessary to add an additional category to the hurricane scale according to the level of danger. Presumably, there are about 6 million people in the zone where the elements may hit.

By the morning of October 8, the hurricane's speed had dropped to 250 km/h, while the day before it had reached 290 km/h. Meteorologists do not rule out further strengthening of the wind before hitting Florida. The approach of the storm is designated as life-threatening.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, on October 6, the press service of the US National Hurricane Center predicted that in the coming days, tropical storm Milton, which formed over the Gulf of Mexico, will reach the west coast of the US. The weather phenomenon may hit Florida on October 8-9. Heavy rains may lead to flooding in populated areas and rural areas, and to the overflow of some rivers.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 35 counties in the state ahead of the storm, many of which are still reeling from Hurricane Helene.

#1  at 800am EDT, the hurricane weakened slightly from the 500am status

continued weakening is expected until landfall because of upper winds sheeting the vertical uplift field

however it will likely be at Cat 3 or 4 at landfall

as of now the eye is very small and hurricane winds only extend about 30 miles from the center of the storm

however, as the storm weakens, the hurricane force wind field is expected to expand

the eye of the storm may make landfall south of Tampa Bay but, if this happens, it will still result in 5+ feet of storm surge in Tampa Bay and of course the worst will be just to the south of the eyewall's landfall

#2  at 1100am EDT the hurricane has weakened a bit more although still a category 4 storm

forecasts confident of continued weakening but landfall will likely be at least a category 2 storm

forecasts becoming confident that landfall will occur south of Tampa Bay; Bradenton or Sarasota FL may get the eyewall passing over it.

#3  at 2pm the Hurricane is down to just 1 mph above category 3

Since 5am the central pressure has gone up b about 40mb and the peak wind speed has gone down by about 30mph

Still a dangerous storm and the weakening of the central pressure vortex has, as expected, resulted in an expansion of the wind field

Central vortex landfall is likely to be after dark this evening and is still expected to be south of Tampa Bay

#6  At 5pm EDT hurricane down to category 3. Hurricane winds still a small area but tropical storm force winds have expanded especially to the north. Still about 6 hours to landfall

#7  At 800pm EDT, the eye of the storm is just about to come ashore (faster than I thought it would). The center of the vortex will come ashore in the vicinity of Sarasota.

It is enough south that the damage to Tampa will be less than expected. Of course Sarasota and especially the barrier islands on the coast will be hit very hard.

#8  at 930 pm EDT, the entire eye of the hurricane is onshore

I haven't seen any reports of sustained wind speeds over 75 mph yet but that doesn't mean there aren't any. Also I've seen no reports yet of 8' + storm surge partly because it is dark and the webcams aren't going to be able to show it.

#9  at 1100pm EDT. Hurricane moving across central FL at about 17 mph which will take it to the Atlantic Ocean by about sunrise local time. It is, based on radar, now a category 2 storm but continuing to weaken and will likely be a category 1 storm when it moves offshore into the Atlantic.

Some ferocious precipitation rates have been recorded with 3, 4 and even 5" of rain in an hour. The highest wind I saw reported was 86 mph but no doubt other reports have yet to come in. Again I have not seen reports of severe storm surge but as it is night we will have to wait for morning to ascertain what happened on that issue.

#2  Guterres is not a friend of Israel, the West, or anyone that doesn't agree with his worldview promoting authoritarianism.

Russia and China are okay, however.
