Reservist killed fighting Hezbollah in Lebanon; Syrian media reports new IDF strikes
[IsraelTimes] Sgt. Maj. (res.) Ronny Ganizate, 36, killed in ground op; IDF says two Hezbollah commanders responsible for firing on Kiryat Shmona killed in south Lebanon airstrike

The Israel Defense Forces on Thursday morning announced that Sgt. Maj. (res.) Ronny Ganizate, of the Alon Brigade’s 5030th Battalion, was killed fighting Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, as the military continued to battle the Iran-backed terror group on multiple fronts including Syria.

Another reserve soldier from the 5030th Battalion was seriously wounded in the same incident and taken to a hospital, the military added.

Ganizate, 36, of Givat Shmuel, was the 12th Israeli soldier killed in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and during operations on the border. Israel launched an offensive on September 23 aimed at removing the terror group from southern Lebanon following a year of near-daily cross-border attacks.

Also Thursday morning, the IDF said that air force jets struck and killed two Hezbollah commanders in south Lebanon.

One was named as Ahmad Mustaga Alhaj Ali, responsible for the firing of hundreds of rockets and anti-tank missiles at the border city of Kiryat Shmona. The other was Muhammad Ali Hamdan, commander of Hezbollah’s anti-tank corps in Meiss Ej Jabal, across the border from Kiryat Shmona, who the IDF said was also behind many attacks on northern communities.

The airstrikes came after two civilians, Revital Yehud, 45, and Dvir Sharvit, 43, were killed in a rocket attack on Kiryat Shmona Wednesday, as Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets into northern Israel and military forces aimed heavy air and ground fire at the Lebanese terror group.

The pair of fatalities, the first civilians to be killed since fighting between Israel and Lebanon intensified late last month, came on a day that also saw five people injured in a large rocket barrage on Haifa.

The IDF statement on Thursday morning said that it had struck weapons caches in south Lebanon and Beirut overnight, noting that steps were taken ahead of the strikes to minimize harm to civilians, including warnings to evacuate.

Also Wednesday, the IDF said in a statement that it killed Adham Jahout, a Hezbollah operative in the Quneitra area of southern Syria just across the border from the Golan Heights earlier in the day.

Jahout “passed information from Syrian regime officials to the Hezbollah organization,” as well as other information it gathered along the border to target the Golan Heights, the IDF said, in a rare Israeli confirmation of operations in Syria.

Hezbollah has lobbed over 3,000 rockets at Israel’s north — and in some cases beyond — since Israel launched its offensive on September 23. Israel says it is seeking to make it safe for some 60,000 people displaced by the ongoing Hezbollah attacks since October 2023 to return home, including by eliminating the threat of a Hamas-style cross-border rampage it alleges Hezbollah had planned to unleash on northern towns.

The Israeli military said it has dismantled Hezbollah infrastructure along the border and killed hundreds of Hezbollah fighters. It has also carried out airstrikes deeper inside Lebanon, including an attack on a coastal town near Sidon that Lebanon said killed four people on Wednesday. It did not say if the four were civilians or combatants.

The attacks on northern Israel over the last year have resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians. In addition, 34 IDF soldiers and reservists have died in cross-border skirmishes and in the ensuing ground operation launched in southern Lebanon in late September.

Two soldiers have been killed in a drone attack from Iraq, and there have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 516 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. Another 94 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have also been killed.

These numbers have not been consistently updated since Israel began a new offensive against Hezbollah in September, including the ground operation, in which the military says at least 450 Hezbollah operatives have been killed.

Somali Elite Forces To Withdraw from Gedo Region Amidst War On Al-Shabaab
[ShbelleMedia] In a strategic military redeployment, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has ordered the withdrawal of Somalia’s elite Gorgor forces from the Gedo region, sources confirmed.

The move, which has seen the troops return to their original bases, marks a significant shift in the deployment strategy of one of Somalia’s most effective military units.

According to former Member of Parliament Mohammed Abukar Aweys, the Gorgor forces have completely vacated the areas they previously occupied in Gedo. "President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud ordered the withdrawal of the Gor Gor Army from the Gedo region," Aweys told Shabelle Media in an exclusive interview.

The reasons behind the withdrawal have not been officially disclosed, but observers speculate it could be part of a broader military strategy or a response to changing political dynamics within the region.

The Gorgor unit, known for its effectiveness in countering hard boy activities, has been a critical component of Somalia’s fight against gangs.

The redeployment comes at a time when Somalia faces multiple fronts of instability, including internal political disputes and external threats. This development adds another layer to the complex security landscape of the Horn of Africa nation.

Israeli strikes target central Syrian provinces: State media
More on this very brief story from yesterday.
[Rudaw] Israeli airstrikes early Thursday targeted the central Syrian provinces of Homs and Hama, state media reported, as regional tensions continue to rise against the backdrop of the Israel-Gaza war.

“At approximately 1:00 am today, the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression from the direction of northern Lebanon, targeting a car assembly plant in the industrial zone in Hasiya in the Homs countryside and a military site in Hama,” Syria’s state-run SANA news agency reported, citing a military source.
Iran attempting to smuggle weapons to Hezbollah to replace that which Israel has destroyed.
The strikes caused material damage but no casualties, according to SANA.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, reported the strikes targeted an “Iranian car factory” in Homs as trucks loaded with Iraqi aid bound for Lebanon were being prepared, injuring four people.
Correction: Iran’s Iraqi catspaws attempting to provide cover while Iran attempts to smuggle. etc.
Israel has recently intensified its strikes in Syria, targeting warehouses of the Syrian army and Iran-backed militia positions.

Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes on regime-controlled areas of Syria throughout its over a decade-long civil war, often claiming to target pro-Iran militias, such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah group which supports the Syrian army.

The strikes have increased since October 7 of last year, when Palestinian Hamas militants launched an unprecedented, large-scale attack on Israeli territory that has prompted significant retaliation.

Israel rarely confirms strikes attributed to it in Syria but has repeatedly warned that it would not tolerate its arch-rival Iran gaining a foothold there.

On Sunday, the Observatory reported an Israeli airstrike targeted another car factory in Homs containing trucks loaded with Iraqi food and medical supplies for Lebanon.

Dutch state sued over failure to stop Israel’s alleged violations of international law

Muhammad Abdullah was made the head of the Iran-backed terror group in the Tulkarem-area camp after his predecessor Muhhamad Jabber was killed in a gunbattle in late August, the Israel Defense Forces says.

The IDF says Abdullah was killed in a strike from the air alongside a second terrorist, without naming the second person.
Possibly hit his Number 2, who never had a chance to be #1.
The army says Abdullah was responsible for organizing the group’s activities, including "many attacks." It accuses him of deploying explosives against Israeli troops.

The army says troops on the ground seized semi-automatic rifles and flack-jackets found on the pair, the IDF says.

Official Paleostinian Authority news outlet Wafa says troops also seized the bodies of the two, naming the second fatality as Awad Omar from the nearby town of Bal’a.

UN says some peacekeepers moving as Israel blasted over fire on UNIFIL posts
[IsraelTimes] IDF says it told interim force to enter protected spaces before tank fire that injured two Blue Helmets at Naqoura headquarters in southern Lebanon, sparking wide condemnation

Two peacekeepers were injured by Israeli fire, the UN said Thursday, sparking condemnation from the international community and focusing attention on the force’s role along the conflict-strewn border.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, which has some 10,000 peacekeepers charged with keeping arms and militias out of southern Lebanon, said Israel Defense Forces troops opened fire at three positions held by UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon on Thursday.

“This morning, two peacekeepers were injured after an IDF Merkava tank fired its weapon toward an observation tower at UNIFIL’s headquarters in Naqura, directly hitting it and causing them to fall,” the mission said, using an acronym for the Israeli military.

The two peacekeepers were from Indonesia’s contingent and were in good condition after being treated for light injuries, Indonesia Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a statement.

Israel acknowledged its forces had been operating in the area. It says fighters from the Hezbollah terror group it is battling have been operating near UN posts. It said it instructed the UN forces in the area to shelter in protected spaces before opening fire.

UNIFIL also accused the IDF of firing on UN position 1-31 in Labbouneh over the past two days. It said Israel had “deliberately fired at” perimeter cameras on Wednesday, and on Thursday had hit “a bunker where peacekeepers were sheltering.”
Various national spokespersons condemning or deploring snipped.
At a UN Security Council meeting, the head of UN peacekeeping Jean-Pierre Lacroix said peacekeepers were at “serious risk.” He noted that 300 Blue Helmets had temporarily relocated to larger bases “with the movement of another 200 planned.”
Good idea.
“The safety and security of peacekeepers is now increasingly in jeopardy,” Lacroix said, adding that UNIFIL peacekeepers are confined to their bases, and that one UNIFIL contractor had already been killed.

UN Ambassador Danny Danon urged peacekeepers to move north Thursday.
”You won’t lead, you won’t follow, and you won’t do your damned job. So please get out of the way, because we will do it for you.”
“Our recommendation is that UNIFIL relocate 5 km (3 miles) north to avoid danger as fighting intensifies and while the situation along the Blue Line remains volatile as a result of Hezbollah’s aggression,” Danon said in a statement.

A spokesperson for UNIFIL told the Walla news site that the multinational force had rejected an Israeli request to evacuate posts along the Israeli-Lebanon border.
”Nyah nyah nya-nyah nyah!”
“We are there because the Security Council has asked us to be there. So we are staying until the situation becomes impossible for us to operate,” UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti told Reuters.
Hint: it’s already impossible.
UNIFIL was created to oversee the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon after the end of the 1978 conflict between the two nations. The UN expanded its mission under Resolution 1701 following the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah,
…which occurred because UNIFIL had failed to keep Hezbollah out of the area, and they were acting out…
allowing peacekeepers to deploy along the Israeli border to help the Lebanese military extend its authority into the country’s south for the first time in decades.

Resolution 1701 calls for southern Lebanon to be free of armed groups aside from the Lebanese Armed Forces. Israel charges that both have been ineffective at keeping Hezbollah from building up arms and other infrastructure in southern Lebanon.

Danon told the Security Council that resolution 1701 must be enforced, along with resolution 1559, which was adopted in 2004, and “calls for the disbanding and disarmament of all Lebanese and non-Lebanese militias.”
Hopefully third time’s the charm.
“We are fulfilling our obligations to ensure this, and the council must support us in our efforts,” he said.

In a letter recent letter to the UN Security Council, Foreign Minister Israel Katz accused UNIFIL of failing to do its job, and included a map illustrating the short distance between a Hezbollah tunnel uncovered by Israeli forces and a UN base some 150 meters away, according to a Channel 12 news report.

“Israel has the right to take all necessary measures to protect itself and its citizens from ongoing hostilities by Hezbollah,” Katz wrote in the letter acquired by the Hebrew language media outlet. “While Israel does not seek full-scale war, it will take all necessary actions to restore security along its northern border and to ensure the safe return of its citizens to their homes and communities.”

Lacroix said it was up to Israel and Lebanon to ensure the resolution is upheld.

“UNIFIL is mandated to support the implementation of resolution 1701, but we must insist that it is for the parties themselves to implement the provisions of this resolution,” he told the Security Council.

In the year before the IDF ground invasion into Lebanon, UNIFIL facilities or vehicles were hit by shelling or gunfire on several occasions. In August, UNIFIL said three peacekeepers were on patrol and were lightly injured when an explosion occurred near their vehicle.

I'm a cancer dietitian ‐ I would never consume these 7 foods and drinks
[NYP] She’s got a beef with these seven items.

Nichole Andrews, a Washington-based oncology dietitian and author, is sharing the seven foods and drinks she warns may increase your risk of developing cancer or having it return.

In her June TikTok, which has garnered 2.9 million views, Andrews recommends avoiding alcohol, processed meats, soda, red meat, coffee drinks, white grains and plant-based milks.

#4  Going deeper in the article delivers nuance:

She notes that red meat in moderation does not correlate to an increased risk of cancer. However, consuming more than 18 ounces of red meat per week has been associated with increased odds of colorectal cancer.

Coffee provides myriad health benefits — consuming three to four cups of joe a day has been shown to reduce the risk of liver cancer and other alcohol-related liver diseases.

A recent study also found that moderate coffee consumption can lower the risk of developing a combination of diabetes, stroke and heart disease, known as cardiometabolic multimorbidity.

However, these benefits are compromised when your cup of coffee veers into dessert territory.

“I’m a whole-grain girl through and through. Whole grains are going to help you reduce risks of colon and breast cancer, and [they’ll] give you more fiber and more nutrients as well because [they’re] less processed.”

She explains that while white grains like those found in white bread are not expressly linked to increased cancer risk, the lack of fiber makes them a poor choice overall.

Andrews said that despite the popularity of alternative milks, she always chooses nutrient-rich, full-fat dairy. “I don’t do the plant milks … because they are so low in protein.”

She also said the “amazing” calcium in cow’s milk reduces the risk of colorectal cancer.

UNRWA shutters northern Gaza operations
[NYPost] Israel is pushing for a new law to stop the United Nations Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) from working in the Gaza Strip – with the intense battles there already shuttering the embattled aid group’s operations in the north.

The Israeli parliament has given preliminary approval to designate UNRWA a terrorist organization following allegations that its members are closely affiliated with Hamas.

The humanitarian group had previously fired nine staff members after an internal probe found they may have helped Hamas in some capacity conduct the Oct. 7, 2023 terrorist attack that killed more than 1,200 people in Israel.

It was also revealed last month that a suspended UNRWA worker who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon had also been serving as a Hamas commander in the region.

Israeli officials claimed that thousands of UNRWA members are connected with Hamas in some way, allegations the group has firmly denied as it struggles to provide aid to Palestinian refugees in Gaza.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel’s push to criminalize the UNRWA, which serves the vast majority of Gaza’s nearly 2 million refugees.

“Such a measure would suffocate efforts to ease human suffering and tensions in Gaza, and indeed, the entire Occupied Palestinian Territory,” Guterres told reporters Tuesday.

Guterres, who has been banned from Israel for not immediately condemning Iran’s attack on the Jewish state last week, also warned that Israel’s ongoing war campaign in Gaza is leaving even aid groups without the necessary resources to help civilians.

Following the latest bombardments and evacuation calls in northern Gaza, the UNRWA said it needed to pause its work in the area to clear out seven schools sheltering people.

Philippe Lazzarini, the commissioner-general for the UNRWA, described northern Gaza as a “wasteland” where at least 400,000 are trapped with nowhere else to go.

Israel’s U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon scoffed at Guterres’ remarks and said Israel was committed to helping the humanitarian effort in Gaza so long as it’s not with the UNRWA.

“Israel works with humanitarian agencies that are actually interested in humanitarian aid and not activism or, in some cases, terrorism,” he told reporters.

The IDF Southern Command has been planning the broad operation of the 162nd Division in the northern Strip, with a focus on increasing its operational control of the territory, both to prevent Hamas from re-establishing itself there and to stop any attacks on Israeli territory from being launched from there.

According to Walla News, the operation could result in the movement of a large portion of the population, from the northern Gaza Strip to the humanitarian shelters in southern Gaza.

The IDF plans to focus on eliminating Hamas terrorists without having to be concerned for the well-being of civilians, who have been used as human shields by the terror group.

Walla quoted a military source who stated, "If there's anything that freaks Hamas out, it's the IDF's total control on the ground.”

"The operation carried out by the 162nd Division will undoubtedly increase control. Palestinians move south. Control of the area will also make it possible to prevent rocket launches and attempts to reach the [security] fence.”

If this increase in control is part of the IDF’s overall strategy, the maneuver in the northern Gaza Strip is expected to expand from Jabaliya. In addition, residents of nearby Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahiya may be evacuated south to the humanitarian zone of al-Mawasi.

On Wednesday afternoon, IDF Arabic Spokesman Lt.-Col. Avichay Adraee called on civilian residents of Jabaliya to evacuate and move to the humanitarian zone of al-Mawasi. He told them it would be their "final opportunity." To enable the safe evacuation of the residents, Adraee also announced a temporary cessation of military operations in the city.

"We reiterate our call to you in Jabaliya camp to evacuate your homes and shelters immediately," Adraee said in the video message. "This is a dangerous combat zone. We have temporarily stopped working but the fire will resume again soon."

"This is your chance. Move now without delay from the shelters and homes to the southern Gaza Strip. Do not believe the lies of Hamas through its men or media who tell you to stay there."

The operation seemingly mirrors portions of the “Eiland Plan” (also called the “Generals' Plan”), first proposed by retired General Giora Eiland soon after Oct. 7, calling for IDF control of the Netzarim Corridor separating the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Eiland proposed imposing a blockade of the northern part, the cessation of humanitarian aid to areas where Hamas is active, the evacuation of civilians from northern Gaza to the south through evacuation zones, and the total elimination of the remaining terrorists in the northern half.

The most recent version of this plan discussed among Israeli Security Cabinet members reportedly called for the IDF to assume greater responsibility for humanitarian aid distribution to prevent its falling into the hands of Hamas.

IDF control of humanitarian aid has been opposed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who argue that Israel should not provide its enemies with aid.

The Eiland Plan is not favored by the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden, as it would entail continued fighting in the Gaza Strip and more destruction of homes and infrastructure. However, reports in Hebrew media say the plan is popular among IDF leadership.

Security officials believe the use of siege would be legal if Palestinian civilians in Gaza were evacuated from northern Gaza ahead of the operation.

During the fighting in Jabaliya in recent days, troops eliminated dozens of terrorists in close-quarter combat and aerial strikes, located weapons and destroyed numerous terror infrastructure sites and rocket launchers.

Meanwhile, Israeli troops continued raiding and destroying Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip.

In Rafah, 162nd Division troops located and destroyed more rocket launchers, weapons and tunnel shafts.

In the central Strip, 252nd Division soldiers eliminated terrorists, located weapons and destroyed military infrastructure.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets and aircraft have also struck more than 70 terror targets in the Gaza Strip over the past couple of days, in addition to their ongoing operations against Hezbollah across Lebanon.

Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov issues ominous warning as he returns to Moscow
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] America will face a 'head-on collision with a nuclear power' if it allows Ukraine to fire US long-range missiles into Russia, the country's outgoing ambassador has warned.

US-Russian relations, already at 'arguably the lowest point in their history' will plunge into an 'uncontrolled nosedive' if Ukraine gets the green light, Anatoly Antanov predicted.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky met President Biden last month and told him that firing US ATACMS deep into Russian territory could break the deadlock in the two-and-a-half year war.

Russia's President Putin said it would finally constitute direct NATO involvement, and his ambassador spelt out the message as he headed back to Moscow.

'America will not be able to sit it out across the ocean,' Antanov said. 'A global nuclear catastrophe would affect everyone.'

Government Corruption
Save RGV sues SpaceX, alleges industrial wastewater discharge
[MYRGV] Days before a possible test launch of Starship from SpaceX’s Boca Chica launch site, the nonprofit, local environmental group Save RGV has filed a lawsuit in federal court against SpaceX over the alleged release of untreated industrial wastewater at the facility.

The suit, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Brownsville Division, under the Clean Water Act (CWA), seeks declaratory and injunctive relief, the imposition of civil penalties and "other appropriate relief" to bring a halt to SpaceX’s "recurring, unpermitted discharges of untreated industrial wastewater from the deluge system at the SpaceX Boca Chica Launch Site into waters of the United States," according to the suit.

The launch site’s water deluge system is designed to dampen the effects of rocket engine blast during liftoff and static fire engine testing.

Save RGV said it had sent a June 4 letter via certified mail to Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX president and chief operating officer, giving notice of the violations contained in the complaint and stating its intention to file suit after 60 days "should those violations continue."

On July 19, Save RGV sent another letter via certified mail to Shotwell — and also Boca Chica launch site General Manager Kathy Lueders — giving notice of additional violations identified in the complaint, and again giving notice of intention to sue after 60 days if the alleged violations continued.

Copies of the letters also were sent to the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, regional administrator for EPA Region 6, the Justice Department, the state of Texas through the attorney general, and the executive director of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. The lawsuit claims that "neither the EPA nor the State has commenced or is diligently prosecuting an action to redress the violations described in Save RGV’s notice letters and alleged in this Complaint."

Further, the violations are "continuing at this time and are reasonably likely to continue in the future," according to the suit.

SpaceX has argued that it has never operated the deluge system without permission from state and federal authorities, though on March 13 the EPA notified SpaceX that the company had violated the Clean Water Act in deploying the deluge system. The EPA did not assess a fine, but did order SpaceX to comply with federal regulations.

SpaceX deployed the system again the following day during liftoff for its third Starship test flight. The company deployed the system for three test flights, and tested the system multiple times between launches, before applying to TCEQ for a permit.

In late August, TCEQ assessed a $3,750 fine against SpaceX for what the agency said was the illegal discharge of wastewater into wetlands surrounding the website after TCEQ learned the company had not applied for a Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) permit before operating the deluge system.

On Aug. 30, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk posted on X, the social media company he owns, "Just to be clear, this silly fine was for spilling potable drinking water! Literally, you could drink it."

What Save RGV describes as untreated industrial wastewater releases by SpaceX "degrade water quality and harm aquatic life in these waters and thus impair Save RGV’s members’ use and enjoyment of the waters," according to the suit. "SpaceX’s industrial discharges from its deluge system are ongoing and continuous, occurring regularly during each launch and each static fire test."

Injuries to Save RGV are "unlikely to be redressed except by an order from this Court requiring Defendant to take immediate and substantial action to stop the unpermitted discharges, and to comply with other relief that this Court deems necessary," according to the lawsuit.

TCEQ published a legal notice on Wednesday in The Brownsville Herald announcing a Nov. 14 to gather public input on SpaceX’s application for a permit for a TPDES permit, which would "authorize the discharge of treated domestic wastewater ... not to exceed 200,000 gallons per day." TCEQ said it received the application on May 10, 2023.

The public meeting is scheduled for Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at Amigoland Events Center, 1010 Mexico Blvd., in Brownsville.

SpaceX has announced its fifth Starship test flight from Boca Chica could take place as early as Sunday, with alternate dates on Monday and Tuesday.

Chemical leak triggers emergency in Texas
[RT] Authorities have issued shelter-in-place orders due to a hydrogen sulfide spill at an oil refinery in Deer Park.

A chemical accident at the Deer Park oil refinery in Texas reportedly killed two people and injured five others on Thursday.

Authorities have urged locals to remain indoors and keep their air conditioners off until the all-clear is given.

The leak was reported at around 4:40pm local time, triggering emergency protocols. According to initial reports, a contractor working at the refinery, owned by the Mexican state petroleum company Pemex, accidentally opened a line containing highly toxic hydrogen sulfide gas.
PEMEX, in America?
The contractor is one of the two individuals believed to be dead. Authorities have only confirmed one fatality, but a second body was seen being airlifted from the scene by a Life Flight helicopter.

The Mexican company claimed that “no impact on the community has been reported.”
"And if there was, hey, they're just Gringos"
In response to the leak, a shelter-in-place order was issued for all residents of Deer Park and the surrounding areas. The nearby city of Pasadena issued a similar order.

Residents have been advised to remain indoors, close their windows and doors, and keep their air conditioners turned off until the all-clear is given.

Hydrogen sulfide is used in various industrial processes, including petroleum production and refining. Prolonged exposure to high concentrations of the gas can be fatal.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Classified doc reveals extent of demand for military equipment at start of war
[Jpost] According to Yulia Malinovsky (Yisrael Beytenu), the hundreds of requests made outside the chain of command demonstrated the reality of missing equipment.

A classified document obtained by The Jerusalem Post revealed the extent of the demand for military equipment in the weeks following the October 7 massacre: 350 requests.

The document was presented in the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on October 23 and includes nearly 350 requests for military equipment gathered by an ad-hoc call center that MKs formed in the days after the massacre.

Notably, many of the requests came from regular army units and not just from reserve units. More surprisingly, this included special units. A significant portion of the requests originated from combat reserve units, while others came from military medical personnel and even the air force. Other requests were submitted by specific individuals, and one even came from a municipality.

FREQUENTLY DEMANDED ITEMS
The most common request was for bulletproof tactical vests, with a demand for approximately 4,000. Next were approximately 2,500 military helmets, of which 2,000 were specifically for lighter tactical helmets; around 600 special military knee pads (“Robocop,” “Ninja,” or silicon); 200 requests related to medical equipment, including 150 tourniquets and a number of fully equipped medical kits for doctors and medics; 40 reflector sights; and 20 rifles.Other notable requests in large numbers included tactical gloves, commando knives, tactical uniforms, and warm clothing; additional requests in smaller numbers included night-vision goggles, laser pointers, and tactical flashlights.

The demand for military equipment was likely much larger than recorded, as members of Knesset redirected many requests directly to donors without inserting them into the document. However, the document sheds new details on the scope of the demand for equipment in the first two weeks of the war.

Despite widespread reports of a lack of equipment in the early days following the war, IDF Spokesperson R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari stated on October 9 that “no equipment was lacking” and that “patience was required,” adding that “even if it takes more time, everything will arrive.”

Hagari said the complaints stemmed from the fact that over 300,000 reservists had reported for duty – an unprecedented number – and that in some reserve units, recruitment levels reached 200%, meaning that over double the amount of personnel that were summoned showed up. Hagari also stressed that not all units needed commando-level tactical gear, so not all requests were critical.

However, MKs interviewed on the matter criticized the army’s conduct. According to Yulia Malinovsky (Yisrael Beytenu), who was part of a team of MKs handling the issue, the hundreds of requests made outside the chain of command demonstrated the reality of missing equipment.

The IDF was ignoring reality and was unwilling to ease some of its restrictions to accept at least part of the equipment, according to Malinovsky. The military even knowingly lied about how much equipment it had, Malinovsky said.

While the IDF was justifiably concerned that the donations would include sub-par equipment that could endanger troops, Malinovsky said the army’s aloof and inflexible attitude showed that ego played a part as well, as the IDF did not want to be viewed as unprepared. Malinovsky even said that this attitude was a symptom of a deeper systemic problem in the military – traits she said contributed to the intelligence and operational failures of October 7.

MK Oded Forer (Yisrael Beytenu), who dealt in the Knesset operations room with obtaining rifles for civilian first-response teams, also said the IDF had not been truthful about the real situation on the ground. Regarding rifles, Forer said he and other MKs argued with officials in the Israel Police and the military to enable small towns – especially those near the borders – to obtain rifles. Only after the aforementioned document was presented to the Knesset Foreign Affairs Committee did the IDF begin to cooperate slightly more and began to take the MKs’ involvement seriously, Forer said.

“Due to the vast reporting [for service] of reservists at the start of the conflict, the IDF purchased tens of thousands of [pieces of] protective gear for the combat soldiers’ use. Throughout the war, the IDF has repeatedly stressed that the procurement of combat military equipment is organized in an orderly and professional manner,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in response.

“The IDF acts continuously to ensure that the donations that are received pass the necessary examinations – both in the context of the quality of the equipment and its appropriateness to its purpose and in ensuring the necessary safety standards. Donated equipment that does not meet the IDF’s standard will be prohibited from use. All units of the army are issued equipment that meets the standard and according to the quantities that correspond to the structure and organization of the field units for battle.”

Krefeld, Germany: German Police Shoot Down Iraqi Arsonist UPDATE: Known nut ran amok, arrived in Germany in 2002
[KronenZeitung] A previously unknown man who tried to set fire to a cinema in the German city of Krefeld (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Thursday evening was shot and injured by police.

The dramatic scenes took place shortly before 8pm. Guns were fired in front of the moviegoers. Shortly beforehand, the suspect is said to have set fires in three other places. According to the police, these included a vehicle and a house near the train station.
Wie unordentlich.
38-YEAR-OLD WANTED TO SET FIRE IN THE FOYER OF THE CINEMA
The 38-year-old had tried to start a fire in the foyer of the cinema. However, the police officers who were alerted were able to prevent this with their intervention. The man who was shot was taken to hospital, where he is still receiving medical treatment. According to the police, the suspect is a man from Krefeld with Iraqi nationality.
Iraqi? What odds his final appeal for asylum was just rejected, so he decided to go Sudden Jihad Syndrome?
The motive for the crime is still under investigation. According to investigators, however, there are no indications of a terrorist background so far. According to the information available so far, no other people have been injured.
Inspired by this post, I checked Britbart — which has nothing yet — and Deutsche Welle, which adds:
The incident occurred after the man had reportedly set three fires in the Cracau district of the city, police said.

Authorities cordoned off the cinema, which is located inside Krefeld's main train station, and said they do not believe there is any further danger to the public.

Details as to the identity or motive of the man, who investigators say was acting alone, remain unclear.

Local police said they will issue an update on Friday morning.

TRAIL OF DAMAGE
Officers were first alerted at 7:50 p.m. local time after an incendiary device was thrown into the local employment office, about 700 meters away from the cinema and station.

Close by, a white minibus belonging to a local drug outreach charity had two smashed windows and was slightly blackened with soot.

Also nearby, police had cordoned off a building in which a top-floor flat was reported to have been on fire.

From there, the suspect made his way to the station where he was shot by police in the cinema foyer.
And a good time was had by all. Breitbart had this, published two days ago:
Germans Increasingly Worried About Risk of Terror Attacks, Only Israelis Feel More Threatened
The fear of a terrorist attack is soaring among Germans, a pollster finds, a worry rising in parallel with concern about crime and extremism.
Update from WDR Aktuell at noon ET:
A police spokesman said on Friday morning that the suspect was a 38-year-old from Krefeld. The motive is still unclear. In the meantime, however, there are indications of a possible mental illness of the man.

This was also confirmed by NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) on Friday. "He was known to the police, he was conspicuous and he was in our program area, which deals with the mentally ill." According to information from the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger", the alleged arsonist was already in prison in the past. According to this, he was sentenced to four and a half years by the Krefeld Regional Court in July 2021 for dangerous bodily injury in two cases, resistance to enforcement officers, attempted rape, threat and damage to property.

The first emergency call was received by the police at 7:50 p.m.: Gradually, the officers learned of three different fire sites in the Krefeld district of Cracau. According to the current state of the investigation, the suspect first smashed the window of a car on Schwertstraße and lit it. He then set fire to his apartment, which is also located on Schwertstraße. From there he went to an office building on Philadelphia Street, where he broke a window pane and ignited a fire fire.

The alleged perpetrator with Iranian nationality
…all the other articles thus far say Iraqi, so either that is a typo or updated information…
is currently under medical treatment. At the request of dpa, the NRW Ministry of Refugees in Düsseldorf announced that the 38-year-old had entered Germany for the first time in 2002 "and has a tolerance". According to current knowledge, the Essen police, who took over the investigation, assumes that he is a single perpetrator. A terrorist background is so far excluded.

A cinema employee praised the rapid intervention of the police to a dpa reporter. "Otherwise, this would have been a disaster here," he said. According to his information, about 150 people were in the cinema complex at the time of the crime, spread over several cinema halls. Reul made similar comments on Friday, saying that the situation could have ended "really dramatically". No one was injured in the fires.

First Springfield, Then Charleroi, Now Migrant Crisis Swamps This Small Indiana Town
[ZeroHedge] First, Springfield, Ohio, then Charleroi, Pennsylvania, and now Logansport, Indiana—these small towns share one thing in common: Each has seen a massive influx of Haitian migrants that the Secretary of Homeland Security granted Temporary Protected Status. These migrants are dumped into towns with factories, replacing blue-collar native-born workers by the thousands in what we've dubbed the 'Great Job Replacement.'

Local news outlet Mercer County Outlook said the small community of Logansport, located about 78 miles north of Indianapolis, had experienced a 30% population jump since 2021, or about around the time VP Kalama Harris began her new position as 'Border Czar.'

Population in Logansport as of the last census is just over 18,000…according to statements made the population has increased by 30% since 2021…roughly 5,400.

The influx of migrants in the small town has strained local resources, including the school system.

Globalists at Tyson have worked with NGOs to replace their US labor workforce with migrants. This was detailed in a note earlier this year titled "How Shadowy Network Of NGOs Supplies Mega-Corporations With Migrants To Exploit Cheap Labor." Bloomberg also covered this story in a piece titled "Tyson Is Hiring New York Immigrants for Jobs No One Else Wants."

#3  "Tyson Is Hiring New York Immigrants for Jobs No One Else Wants."

Bullshit. Those jobs were filled by the factories which were shut down. They wanted to go where it was fine to make mealed bugs and get paid to employ illegals at wages lower than a grasshopper's ass.

Dodge City: meat packing and now cheese producer, has a problem retaining the middle class workers who keep the stores running because of 2nd and 3rd world robberies where a rented moving truck shows up to their house when at work, cleans the place out, and nobody saw nothin'.

For various reasons, expansion is not easy, so when a limited access neighborhood of new cookie houses was zoned and built there was some excitement.

Well guess whodafuckerydoo is living in that neighborhood now? And because the city is run by garbage people on the wink, there is also a Bidenville and everything which goes along with that including the under the table money.

Indiana classroom wanker and dem party official charged
[Gateway] A teacher and Democratic Party official in Indiana has been charged and arrested with masturbating in front of his students.

According to court filings obtained by The Commercial Review, 37-year-old Joel Bowers allegedly masturbated under his desk while teaching in April of this year.

A 14-year-old girl who witnessed the incident told law enforcement Bowers "would not get out of his seat and didn’t tell us to do anything."

"There was white stuff on his pants and he would not get up for anything. He had his hand down there and was sweating but it was cold in his room," she explained.
Ick.

Obama says black men choosing Trump over Harris ‘not acceptable'
[Washington Examiner] Former President Barack Obama told Vice President Kamala Harris’s supporters at a campaign office in Pittsburgh that a lack of enthusiasm from black men for Harris is "not acceptable."

"You’re thinking about sitting out or supporting somebody who has a history of denigrating you because you think that’s a sign of strength, because that’s what being a man is? Putting women down?" the former president said. "That’s not acceptable."

Obama is in Pittsburgh to boost Harris’s support in the area. He later took the stage at a rally in the area and stumped for Harris.

Obama also suggested that black men are "coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses" and said he "has a problem with that."

"Because part of it makes me think, and I’m speaking to the men directly, part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and reasons for that."

Government Corruption
Disinformation Isn't the Problem. Government Coverups and Censorship Are the Problem
[Rutherford Institute] "What makes it possible for a totalitarian or any other dictatorship to rule is that people are not informed; how can you have an opinion if you are not informed? If everybody always lies to you, the consequence is not that you believe the lies, but rather that nobody believes anything any longer... And a people that no longer can believe anything cannot make up its mind. It is deprived not only of its capacity to act but also of its capacity to think and to judge. And with such a people you can then do what you please."—Hannah Arendt

In a perfect example of the Nanny State mindset at work, Hillary Clinton insists that the powers-that-be need "total control" in order to make the internet a safer place for users and protect us harm.

Clinton is not alone in her distaste for unregulated, free speech online.

A bipartisan chorus that includes both presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump has long clamored to weaken or do away with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which essentially acts as a bulwark against online censorship.

It’s a complicated legal issue that involves debates over immunity, liability, net neutrality and whether or not internet sites are publishers with editorial responsibility for the content posted to their sites, but really, it comes down to the tug-of-war over where censorship (corporate and government) begins and free speech ends.

As Elizabeth Nolan Brown writes for Reason, "What both the right and left attacks on the provision share is a willingness to use whatever excuses resonate—saving children, stopping bias, preventing terrorism, misogyny, and religious intolerance—to ensure more centralized control of online speech. They may couch these in partisan terms that play well with their respective bases, but their aim is essentially the same."

In other words, the government will use any excuse to suppress dissent and control the narrative.

The internet may well be the final frontier where free speech still flourishes, especially for politically incorrect speech and disinformation, which test the limits of our so-called egalitarian commitment to the First Amendment’s broad-minded principles.

On the internet, falsehoods and lies abound, misdirection and misinformation dominate, and conspiracy theories go viral.

This is to be expected, and the response should be more speech, not less.

As Justice Brandeis wrote nearly a century ago: "If there be time to expose through discussion, the falsehoods and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence."

Yet to the government, these forms of "disinformation" rank right up there with terrorism, drugs, violence, and disease: societal evils so threatening that "we the people" should be willing to relinquish a little of our freedoms for the sake of national security.

Of course, it never works out that way.

#2  The CIA/Hillary/State Dept - the Blob are trying to censor Americans in America by going to all the other 5 eyes countries and Europe and pressuring all of us to insert "misinformation" censorship laws on social media firms

That back-engineers censorship in the US bypassing the 1st amendment because the internet publishes everywhere and it's easier for corporations just to have one simple policy globally

They will use AI to censor in real time

They're coming for RUmble, Substack, Insta, Telegram - everything

And once they do that, it also back-engineers your mainstream CNN Fox MSNBC etc - you know why? Journos rely on clicks on their stories that's the metric of success for them to keep their jobs

No clicks from no shares because socials censor = career death

they will all self-censor

International-UN-NGOs
UN probe claims Israel seeking to ‘destroy’ Gaza healthcare system
Whining. Because of course it’s Israel being bad instead of them aiding and abetting the Hamasniks on their payroll.
[IsraelTimes] Investigators assert Israel has carried out ‘relentless and deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities,’ conflate Palestinian security detainees with Gaza hostages

A United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
inquiry claimed Israel has carried out a concerted policy of destroying Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
’s healthcare system in the ongoing war with Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
, actions amounting to both war crimes and the crime against humanity of extermination.

A statement Thursday by ex-UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay released ahead of a full report accused Israel of "relentless and deliberate attacks on medical personnel and facilities" in the war, triggered by the Hamas terror group’s massacres in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

"Children in particular have borne the brunt of these attacks, suffering both directly and indirectly from the collapse of the health system," said Pillay, whose report will be presented to the UN General Assembly on October 30.

Israel has said that while it seeks to avoid civilian fatalities in its fight against Hamas, the Gaza terror group is deeply embedded within the civilian population, and operates from the cover of built-up populated areas including private homes, schools and hospitals.

Captured Death Eaters have confirmed the claims, explaining that Hamas believes Israel will not target them if they hide inside medical facilities.

The UN inquiry’s statement also accused Israeli forces of deliberately killing and torturing medical personnel and targeting medical vehicles — something which Israel has consistently denied doing.

As an example, it cited the death of a Paleostinian girl, Hind Rajab, in February along with family members and two medics who came to rescue her, which was blamed on Israel by the Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy Society.

The IDF said that an initial investigation into the death of the six-year-old suggested that no troops had been in the area at the time. The case was then handed off to the General Staff Fact-Finding Assessment Mechanism, an independent military body responsible for investigating unusual incidents amid the war.

The UN inquiry further accused Israel of restricting permits for patients to leave the war-torn Gaza Strip.

Following the October 7 terror onslaught, in which some 1,200 people were killed and 251 were seized as hostages, Israel closed the heavily damaged Erez Crossing, which prior to the war had served as a medical corridor for sick Gazooks in need of treatment. While it has since reopened for the delivery of aid to the enclave, along with the Kerem Shalom border crossing, it has not reopened for individual use.

Throughout the first months of the war, close to 5,000 sick and injured Gazooks were able to evacuate via the Rafah Crossing on the Gaza-Egypt border. But the crossing was shuttered in May after the IDF launched an offensive in the southernmost Gaza city, as Egypt said it refused to reopen its side of the crossing until the Gaza side is returned to Paleostinian control.

The World Health Organization has said that over 10,000 patients requiring urgent medical evacuation have been prevented from leaving Gaza since then.

Medical evacuations have nevertheless continued to take place — albeit in a limited and irregular fashion — and in September, the WHO evacuated nearly 100 people, including dozens of children, from Gaza to the United Arab Emirates for treatment.

Conflating the treatment of Paleostinian security detainees in Israel and the 101 hostages held by Hamas Death Eaters in Gaza, the UN statement said that its investigation found both sides to have been involved in carrying out torture and sexual violence.

Hamas has prevented the International Committee of the Red Thingy from visiting the hostages in Gaza since their abduction, and the Red Thingy has in turn said that unless the terror group changes its stance, it cannot access them independently.

In the wake of October 7, Israel banned the Red Thingy from visiting Paleostinian prisoners in Israeli facilities without offering an explanation as to why, or an alternative option. In addition, numerous reports have emerged of abuse by Israeli officials against Paleostinian detainees at the Sde Teiman detention facility close to Beersheba.

However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
dozens of investigations are being conducted into the allegations. So far, one soldier has been indicted for abusing detainees at the facility, while another five are under investigation for the alleged violent mostly peaceful sexual abuse of a detainee. In addition, the High Court of Justice ordered the government in August to explain why it shouldn’t declare the ban on Red Thingy visits to be illegal.

The Commission of Inquiry (COI) has a broad mandate to collect evidence and identify suspected perpetrators of international crimes committed in Israel, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It bases its findings on a range of sources including interviews with victims and witnesses, submissions and satellite imagery.

The COI has previously alleged that both Israel and Hamas committed war crimes in the early stages of the Gaza war and that Israel’s actions also constituted crimes against humanity because of the immense civilian losses cited by the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza. The term is reserved for the most serious international crimes knowingly committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack against civilians.

The Hamas-controlled Gaza health ministry has said that since the outbreak of war, more than 42,000 people have been killed or are presumed dead in the fighting, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

Israel says it has killed some 17,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,000 Death Eaters inside Israel on October 7.

Israel has not cooperated with the inquiry, which it says has an anti-Israel bias. The COI has accused Israel of obstructing its work and preventing Sherlocks from accessing both Israel and the Paleostinian territories.

Sometimes, the evidence gathered by such UN-mandated bodies has formed the basis for war crimes prosecutions and could be drawn on by the International Criminal Court.

British Holocaust survivor Lily Ebert dies
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The famous writer Lili Ebert, who was deported to Auschwitz from Hungary in 1944 and survived the Holocaust, died at the age of 101 in her home in London. This was reported by the Daily Mail.

"Auschwitz survivor Lili Ebert dies at 100," the publication says.

The writer died just under two months short of reaching 101 years of age.

She was the eldest daughter in a Jewish family of six children. Lili, 20, was taken to a Nazi camp with her mother, younger brother, and three sisters. The Germans immediately sent the mother and two children to the gas chamber. The girl and two sisters managed to survive.

Lily Ebert co-founded the Holocaust Survivors Centre in Britain. She published a book, Lily's Promise: How I Survived Auschwitz and Found the Strength to Live On. She also became known for her memoirs, social media videos and media appearances in which she spoke about Auschwitz and her life after the war.

Together with her great-grandson, she ran an account on a social network, where they have almost 2 million subscribers.

The writer received many honorary awards and titles.

'The Daily Show' host mocks Kamala Harris for failing to differentiate herself from President Biden: 'Come on'
[FoxNews] "The Daily Show" host Jordan Klepper mocked Vice President Kamala Harris on Wednesday for failing to differentiate herself from President Biden during an interview this week on "The View."

"And this media blitz is not a moment too soon, because voters are looking for change, and Kamala needs to articulate why she’s the candidate of change. She’s had plenty of time to think about it, so let’s see her answer," he said as he teed up a clip of Harris' response.

Asked by "The View" co-host Sunny Hostin on Tuesday what she would have done differently from President Biden over the last three years, Harris responded, "not a thing comes to mind."

Klepper reacted to the clip, "Not a thing is coming into your mind? You really are continuing the Biden legacy. Come on, come on, Madam VP, this is an opportunity to differentiate yourself from an unpopular administration. Surely you would do something different."

Interview: 'The Longer We Wait For An Israeli Strike, The Worse The Anxiety'
[IsraelTimes] As dissatisfaction with the government grows, a regime opponent says citizens are in the grip of uncertainty and distrust their leaders’ ability to protect them.

Ever since Iran attacked Israel with ballistic missiles on October 1, and Israel vowed to retaliate, Iranians have been waiting with bated breath. The timing and location of the Israeli strike remain unknown, adding to the anxiety across the country. The waiting has been excruciating for many.

“There are some sadistic journalists in Iran who keep sounding the alarm, claiming that an Israeli attack is imminent, maybe within hours. For the past few nights, I’ve made the terrible mistake of opening Twitter before bed, only to see posts from these ridiculous reporters claiming the attack is about to happen. After that, I can’t sleep – I just lie there, wide awake until 6 a.m., waiting for something to happen,” said Leila (not her real name).

An Iranian woman in her late 30s, Leila lives in Isfahan, a city in central Iran, approximately 320 kilometers (200 miles) south of Tehran.

Six days after the Islamic Republic’s first large-scale missile and drone assault on Israel on April 13, the IDF struck a radar for an air defense battery in Isfahan that provided cover for the nearby underground Natanz nuclear enrichment facility. The strike was intended to demonstrate Israel’s ability to penetrate Iran’s air defense systems.

But this time around, the Israeli response is expected to be far more devastating.

Peskov: Possible Israeli operation in Syria will lead to catastrophe in the region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The geography of the Middle East conflict is expanding, which is leading to the destruction of civilian infrastructure and catastrophic consequences for the region, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said on October 10.
Clearly, the answer to avoiding catastrophes is not to piss off Israel.
This was his response to a request to comment on a possible Israeli ground operation in Syria. The Israeli army had previously launched a "limited ground operation" in Lebanon, and, according to some reports, may launch a similar operation in Syria.

"To our regret, the geography of military actions is already expanding. This all, of course, leads to the destruction of civilian infrastructure. Tens and hundreds of thousands of people are losing their homes, livelihoods, jobs, and so on and so forth.
Really, just don’t. Remembering, of course, that an Israeli don’t is very different than a Biden administration one.
Therefore, of course, we do not even want to talk about further expansion of the geography, the consequences of all this are catastrophic for the region," Peskov told journalists.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the Middle East was on the brink of a major war, and that there are forces that really want such a war. The minister also accused Israel of violating Lebanon's sovereignty by carrying out airstrikes on that country.

The United States is directly involved in Israel's aggression against Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Bashar Jaafari said earlier. Israel, with the support of the American side, crossed all red lines, which led to an escalation of the situation in the region, the diplomat emphasized.

Scientist warns of strongest magnetic storm in six months
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] By the evening of October 10, the strongest magnetic storm in the last six months is expected, scientist, head of the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Sergei Bogachev told IA Regnum.

"This is a level four storm on a five-point scale. This is a strong event, to the point that there is a 10-20% chance of a category four storm," the expert said.

The scientist emphasized that these geomagnetic events will continue for at least two days. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be difficult days. Bogachev also indicated the approximate time of the magnetic storm's onset.

"Specifically today, a noticeable flare on the Sun, which threw large clouds of plasma towards the Earth at high speeds, which should arrive at the Earth. The earliest arrival boundaries were set for midday, then approximately at 17-18 hours," the scientist reported.

Bogachev explained that the forecast of magnetic storms also implies the forecast of the polar lights. There is a 60-70% probability of the appearance of the polar lights in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

As reported by IA Regnum, a large cloud of plasma caused by a solar flare is approaching the Earth. Most likely, it will cause magnetic storms.

South Korea's Han Kang Wins Nobel Prize in Literature
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The name of the Nobel Prize laureate in literature was announced in Stockholm on Thursday — it is South Korean writer Han Kang, the Nobel Committee of the Swedish Academy of Sciences reported in a press release.

"For her intense, poetic prose that confronts historical trauma and exposes the fragility of human life," the press release said.

Han Kang became the first South Korean to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Han Kang was born in 1970 in Gwangju. She began her writing career with the publication of five poems in the magazine Society and Literature in 1993. Kang's first collection of short stories, Yeosu's Love, was published in 1995.

In 2023, the Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse, and in 2022, to French writer Annie Ernaux.

Earlier, Regnum News Agency wrote that on October 9, the Nobel Committee announced the names of the laureates in the field of chemistry. They were American scientist David Baker and Google employees Demis Hassabis and John Jumper. Baker received the prize for the synthesis of a new protein. Hassabis and Jumper developed a model based on artificial intelligence, with the help of which the structure of all proteins in the human body was determined.

Hurricane Milton News Roundup for October 10th, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
Hurricane Milton Causes Massive Destruction in Florida
[Regnum] Hurricane Milton, which hit the American state of Florida, caused powerful tornadoes. Several people became victims of the elements. Wind speed reached 195 km/h. Heavy rains also fell in Florida, and in a few hours the level of precipitation exceeded the multi-month norm.

According to PowerOutage.us, due to the collapse of transmission line supports, broken wires, and destruction of substations, about 2.8 million homes and buildings and over 3 million consumers were left without electricity. In some counties, 97% of consumers lost power.

Strong winds tore off the roof of Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Water was cut off to homes due to damage to water systems. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said about 125 homes were destroyed. Flooding was reported in parts of the state in just a few hours. Strong winds tossed cars around. Part of the roof collapsed at Orlando International Airport. DeSantis said the storm was strong, but not the worst-case scenario.

Milton has left land and is moving over the Atlantic Ocean, with a flood threat remaining for the East Coast.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, at least 10 people have died as a result of the Milton tornado in Florida, confirmed US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.

Milton made landfall on the Florida coast on the evening of October 9. Experts predicted that it would be the most destructive hurricane in history, surpassing Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In anticipation of the storm, a mass evacuation began on October 7. More than 5.5 million people were forced to leave the west coast of Florida, which became one of the largest evacuations in the state's history.

Hurricane Milton Florida death toll rises to 10
At least ten people have died in tornadoes that accompanied the impact of the devastating Hurricane Milton in Florida, US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said.

“We have received information that at least ten people have died from Hurricane Milton,” RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.

NBC News later reported, citing local officials and police, that five people have now been confirmed dead in St. Lucie County on the Atlantic coast.

Preliminary reports indicate two more people have died in St. Petersburg. The Volusia County Sheriff's Office also reported three deaths. In Citrus County, police said one person was killed when a tree fell on a car.

Hurricane Milton May Reach Russia, Says Forecaster Pozdnyakova
Hurricane Milton, which hit the United States, has entered the Atlantic Ocean and has begun to slow down. However, there is a risk that its echoes will reach Russia, said Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist at the Moscow Meteorological Bureau.

“The aftershocks of the hurricane may be felt in the north of Scandinavia and in the north of Russia – in the Murmansk region,” KP.RU quotes the forecaster as saying.

According to Pozdnyakova, if Milton comes to Russia, it can only bring stronger winds and precipitation. But this can in no way be called "hurricane power", the specialist concluded.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Hurricane Milton reached the coast of Florida on the evening of October 9. According to experts, it could become the most destructive in history, as it is more powerful than Hurricane Katrina, which caused major damage to the United States in 2005.

Amid Hurricane Milton, tornadoes hit the US state of Florida. More than 120 homes were destroyed, there are victims and injured.

Hurricane Milton Leaves More Than 3.3 Million Florida Residents Without Power
In the state of Florida, due to Hurricane Milton that hit the region, the number of consumers left without electricity has exceeded 3 million. This is evidenced by data from the monitoring resource PowerOutage.

Currently, more than 3.3 million consumers are experiencing power outages.

The New York Times reported that the hardest hit area was Hardee County, about 40 miles from where the storm made landfall, with 98 percent of customers without power.

Power engineers are working in an enhanced mode due to the large number of calls regarding power outages.

The state weather service advised using flashlights in the event of a power outage and using generators with caution.

Military sends resources to Florida in wake of Hurricane Milton while Helene recovery efforts continue
Has any part of this level of aid yet been delivered to Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina?
[FoxNews] The U.S. military has flooded resources to areas in Florida impacted by Hurricane Milton, including 6,500 members of the state’s National Guard and another 3,000 from 19 other states ready to provide support, as recovery response efforts continue in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Pentagon press secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder told reporters during a briefing on Thursday that 6,500 Florida National Guardsmen had been activated and mobilized along with 500 plus high-water vehicles, 26 helicopters and over a dozen watercraft from a dozen states to help with response and recovery missions.

Along with those resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has about 250 people helping with debris and flood control, waterway clearance and more, while U.S. Northern Command and U.S. Army North also stand ready to support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) when needed, with 60 more high-water vehicles from Fort Stewart, Georgia, and 100 U.S. Marines from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Ahead of Milton's arrival, personnel from U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) evacuated from its headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, and as of Thursday, they remained evacuated.

"The priority is the safety of personnel and their families and ensuring they have the resources they need as they recover from Hurricane Milton," Ryder said. "Both commands continue to operate out of multiple locations, ensuring no degradation to operations."

Ryder noted that Department of Defense facilities in Florida suffered "some damage, but not extensive damage."

He added that teams will have to go in and assess the damage before additional information can be provided.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Arizona college student accused in random classmate stabbing has attempted murder charge dropped
[FoxNews] Arizona State University student Kaci Sloan, who is accused of stabbing a fellow student twice in a Glendale classroom last month in an apparently random attack, entered a not-guilty plea in Maricopa County on Wednesday after two of her four charges were dismissed last week.

Maricopa County authorities initially arrested and booked Sloan, 19, on four counts, including first-degree attempted murder, in connection with the attack against student Mara Daffron. After a review of the charges submitted and a preliminary hearing on Sept. 30, the county attorney’s office charged Sloan with aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Judge Ashley Rahaman also gave Sloan a cash bail of $250,000 and listed the conditions of her release should she be able to post bail in full.

Sloan allegedly walked up to her classmate, Daffron, on Sept. 19 and stabbed her "multiple times," according to an affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital citing multiple witness accounts.

Matthew McCormick, a student who witnessed the attack unfolding in the classroom, took swift action to stop the alleged stabbing, potentially saving Daffron's life, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.

"Another witness described the defendant was sitting in the classroom at a desk and suddenly got up and ran at the victim as the victim entered the classroom and stabbed her multiple times," the affidavit states.

Detectives found a handwritten note inside Sloan’s backpack that apparently referenced an act she was "about to commit," but it did "not specifically state what she was referring to."

Sloan also allegedly expressed the desire to "hurt somebody" in class that day in an interview with detectives after the incident and targeted Daffron because she was "an easier target" than the other person she apparently considered attacking, who she referred to as "a veteran."

Authorities quickly arrived at the scene and took Daffron to a nearby hospital, where she received treatment.

Sloan has an initial pretrial conference scheduled for Nov. 21.

Qaani is alive and is currently being interrogated in Iran, sources claim - report
[JPost] That's gonna be painful
Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force Brigadier-General Esmail Qaani is alive and currently under investigation in Iran, the Middle East Eye reported on Thursday, citing several sources.
RUMINT!! Getcher hot RUMINT here!
His whereabouts have been unknown since Israel's Saturday strike in Beirut that killed Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah's presumed successor, Hashem Safieddine.

According to the report, the Islamic Republic is currently researching security breaches, with ten sources from Beirut, Baghdad, and Tehran telling the UK-based news outlet that both Qaani and his team were under isolation while under examination.

In addition, on Thursday, Israeli media, citing Sky News, reported that Qaani had suffered from a heart attack during interrogations.
A heart attack is perfectly understandable, given the circumstances. Especially if he actually is innocent of this accusation.
"The Iranians have serious suspicions that the Israelis have infiltrated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, especially those working in the Lebanese arena, so everyone is currently under investigation," a source told the Middle East Eye.
*Snicker* Don’t tell him that the other spy’s name is Mohammed…or maybe Mahmoud… Ahmed? I forget, but something common like that.
However, the report also cited a source linked to Hezbollah, who alleged unequivocally that the breach was "100 percent Iranian."

Thousands of people are missing in the flood-ridden areas of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, and it may take a while to determine the actual number of people alive or dead. Many people in the affected areas are currently without power, clean water, food, fuel, medicine and other essential supplies.
Legally manslaughter rather than murder, surely.

#3  Bluntly put, the federal response to this is like they are hiding a massive pile of political 💩 issue, and don't want it out in the open.

Who knows what they are hiding.

The question keeps coming back to the same question.

WHY are they stalling, and why won't they explain themselves?

#4  FEMA vs. WNC locals

In case anyone is wondering why I am so pissed.
I have family living in the WNC NAT/NOC area. They are out trying to do search and recover. What I am being told is far more graphic than the Hugo or Katerina for horror stories.

An much of it is the actions of the Fed's causing it by their screwed up response, and interference with local rescuers.

Maybe if they just pretended it was 100k illegals that need $$$$$, shelter and food. Then they could save some lives.

Trump calls for CBS to lose its broadcasting license amid '60 Minutes' controversy: 'UNPRECEDENTED SCANDAL!'
[FoxNews] CBS News is accused of editing Vice President Kamala Harris' 'word salad' answer on Israel.

Former President Trump took aim at CBS News over the ongoing controversy involving "60 Minutes" editing comments made by Vice President Kamala Harris for its primetime election special.

"A giant Fake News Scam by CBS & 60 Minutes," Trump wrote Thursday on Truth Social. "Her REAL ANSWER WAS CRAZY, OR DUMB, so they actually REPLACED it with another answer in order to save her or, at least, make her look better. A FAKE NEWS SCAM, which is totally illegal."

"TAKE AWAY THE CBS LICENSE," he continued. "Election Interference. She is a Moron, and the Fake News Media wants to hide that fact. An UNPRECEDENTED SCANDAL!!! The Dems got them to do this and should be forced to concede the Election? WOW!"

Trump further slammed the liberal network during a speech later in the day to the Detroit Economic Club.

"The other big news is the fraud committed by ‘60 Minutes’ and CBS together with the Democrat Party, working together with them, which will go down as the single biggest scandal in broadcast history, I predict," Trump said.

FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel released a statement denouncing Trump's call to revoke CBS' broadcasting license.
But while waxing indignant she is again bringing the public’s attention to the fact that VP Kamala Harris cannot give a coherent answer to a simple question — and what exactly does she think about Israel, again? This is President Trump’s genius, that in loudly denouncing how he said that horrid thing he said, the denouncers shine a spotlight on the subject they had so hoped to avoid.
"While repeated attacks against broadcast stations by the former President may now be familiar, these threats against free speech are serious and should not be ignored," Rosenworcel wrote. "As I’ve said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy. The FCC does not and will not revoke licenses for broadcast stations simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes content or coverage."

CBS News did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

5 Israeli Muslims who live in Tayibe, linked with ISIS, planned to detonate a car bomb near the mall in Tel Aviv.
[X]

The Times of Israel tells all:
[IsraelTimes] Police and Shin Bet announce monthlong clandestine investigation culminating in arrests of Taybeh-based cell tied to fanatical terror group

The Israel Police and the Shin Bet security service recently thwarted a plot by five Arab Israeli citizens to carry out a car-bombing attack at Tel Aviv’s Azrieli Mall under the banner of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
terror group, according to a joint statement Thursday.

The five residents of Taybeh
…a majority-Christian Palestinian village near Ramallah…
in central Israel formed a terror cell allied to ISIS, the fanatical terror group that originated in Iraq and Syria.

The five were arrested after a month-long clandestine investigation in collaboration with the Lahav 433 serious crime unit and were set to face charges in the coming days. The cell’s leaders were named as Mahmoud Azam and Ibrahim Sheik Yusef.

They recruited three others — Sajed Masarwa, Abdullah Baransi and Abdel Kareem Baransi.

Police and the Shin Bet said that the five had studied footage of terror attacks in Syria and discussed the amount of explosives needed to bring down Tel Aviv’s iconic Azrieli towers.

Azam and Yusef were in contact with foreign ISIS agents and planned to travel abroad to meet with operatives from the terror group, the statement added, noting that the plan was uncovered with the help of "precise and effective intelligence operations," and had been halted in its preliminary stages.

The statement said that the arrests "prevented a major disaster and saved lives" and vowed that the police and Shin Bet would continue to "use all means at their disposal to thwart plots to harm the security of the State of Israel and its citizens."

Scholz vows Germany to soon send Israel more weapons amid deep drop in deliveries
[IsraelTimes] Chancellor makes pledge after German opposition leader accuses government of refusing to approve export permits for ammo, tank parts
The manufacturing runs were sold even faster than they were being made, but now they’ll try to prioritize some for Israel’s needs, too. Not like America, where the Obama administration decided to hold back supplying certain purchased parts and ammunition used for offense. Really, not at all like Biden-Harris America.
Germany will supply more weapons to Israel soon, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday, after a significant drop in deliveries this year prompted opposition accusations that Berlin deliberately delayed the exports.

"We have not decided not to supply weapons. We have supplied weapons and we will supply weapons," Scholz told the German parliament at an event to commemorate the victims of Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
’s October 7 massacre, countering an accusation from opposition leader Friedrich Merz.

The government had made decisions "that also ensure that there will be further deliveries soon," the chancellor said.

Merz, leader of Germany’s conservative opposition, accused the government of delaying arms exports to Israel, including ammunition and spare tank parts.

"For weeks and months, the federal government has refused to grant export permits for ammunition and even spare parts for tanks," Merz said at the parliamentary session.

"We are aware of several specific cases where the government has withheld approval for equipment and material that Israel urgently needs to defend itself," Merz added.

Germany’s approvals for arms exports to Israel dropped sharply this year, with only 14.5 million euros’ ($16 million) worth granted from January to August 21, according to data provided by the Economy Ministry in response to a parliamentary question.

In 2023, Germany approved arms exports to Israel worth 326.5 million euros ($356 million) including military equipment and war weapons, a 10-fold increase from 2022, data from the ministry, which approves export licenses, showed.

Commenting on the fall in exports, the German government has said there is no arms export boycott on Israel, and export permits are issued case-by-case after careful review, taking into account international law, foreign policy, and security considerations.

#1  From what I know most of the stuff Israel wants is cutting edge and simply isn't available (yet).

It will be though and I wish Merz would shut up because he's making things difficult.

Scholz has the Greens to appease (on Israel, not Ukraine), but as long as things don't get too public, the Greens will shut up.

Senior Hezbollah figure appears to escape as Israeli strikes rock central Beirut
[IsraelTimes] Lebanon says 22 others killed in attack on areas of Lebanese capital previously unscathed by conflict; IDF eases some restrictions in north even as rocket fire persists

Large blasts shook Beirut on Thursday evening as Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeted at least one senior Hezbollah member in a previously untouched neighborhood in the Lebanese capital. The strike came as troops continued to raid villages in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and as Hezbollah launched dozens of rockets across the border into Israeli cities and towns.

Wafiq Safa, Hezbollah’s Liason and Coordination Unit chief, was thought to be the target of one of the strikes, but managed to elude the attack on a third-floor apartment near central Beirut, three security sources told Rooters.

The sources did not provide any further information.

At least 22 other people were killed and more than 100 were maimed in the strikes, Lebanon’s health ministry said, although Lebanese medical source estimated that the toll was likely to rise as search and rescue operations continued.

The IDF did not immediately comment on the strikes, which appeared to mark deadliest attacks in the center of the capital since Israel escalated its campaign against Hezbollah last month.

Shortly after nightfall, Lebanese media reported that an apartment in an eight-story building on the edge of the Al Nuwairi and Ras el-Nabaa neighborhoods had been targeted in an Israeli airstrike.

A second building located in the nearby Basta neighborhood was also said to have been targeted minutes later.

Neither of the locations had previously been targeted in Israeli airstrikes, and they were well removed from the southern suburbs of Beirut, where Hezbollah’s headquarters are located.

It was the third time that such a strike had taken place beyond Beirut’s southern suburbs, though there have also been Israeli strikes on Hezbollah assets across southern Lebanon and in the eastern Beqaa Valley.

Rooters witnesses said at least one strike hit near a gas station and a thick column of smoke was visible. A large fire blazed in the background as rescue workers used torches to search the rubble for survivors, according to video broadcast by Hezbollah’s al-Manar television.

The attempt to kill Safa, whose role merges security and political affairs, marked a widening of targeting of Hezbollah officials by Israel, which had so far focused on the group’s military commanders and top leaders.

Safa, whom Middle East media reports said was born in 1960, oversaw negotiations that led to a 2008 deal in which Hezbollah exchanged the bodies of Israeli soldiers captured in 2006 for Lebanese prisoners in Israel. Hezbollah’s deadly 2006 raid into northern Israel triggered a 34-day war with Israel.

In 2021, Rooters reported that Safa warned the judge investigating Beirut’s catastrophic 2020 port explosion, who sought to question several politicians allied with Hezbollah, that Hezbollah would remove him from the probe .

He was sanctioned in 2019 by the US Treasury Department, which described him as Hezbollah’s interlocutor to the Lebanese security forces.

"As the head of Hezbollah’s security apparatus, which is directly linked to Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The late, lamented satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...>
, Safa has exploited Lebanon’s ports and border crossings to smuggle contraband and facilitate travel on behalf of Hezbollah, undermining the security and safety of the Lebanese people, while also draining valuable import duties and revenue away from the Lebanese government," the Treasury Department wrote at the time.

At the same time as details of the strikes in central Beirut continued to emerge, the IDF’s Arabic language front man Col. Avichay Adraee called on Lebanese civilians near two buildings in the southern suburb, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, to evacuate immediately ahead of airstrikes.

"You are in the vicinity of facilities belonging to Hezbollah," Adraee warned, calling on civilians to distance themselves at least 500 meters from the targeted buildings, which were highlighted in two maps published alongside the statement.

The IDF also warned civilians in southern Lebanon not to return to their homes, to avoid being harmed by ongoing fighting, which injured two peacekeepers near a UNIFIL base in the coastal Naqoura area earlier in the day.

Despite the incident, the UN peacekeeping force again rejected Israel’s request that it evacuate its posts along the border due to concerns the fighting could harm Blue Helmets stationed there.

The peacekeeping force is deployed along the border to enforce the 2006 UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which bars Hezbollah from maintaining a military presence south of the Litani River.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
the terror group has blatantly violated the resolution for much of its existence, and the UN has failed to stop it from doing so, Israel charges.

Israel’s Channel 12 news reported Thursday evening that Foreign Minister Israel Katz had written to the UN Security Council lambasting the international body for its failure to enforce Resolution 1701.

Israel launched its ground operation in southern Lebanon on September 30, aiming to demolish Hezbollah infrastructure near the Israeli border to enable the safe return of Israeli residents to their homes in the north of the country, after a year of near-daily cross-border attacks.

Israel has ordered the evacuation of dozens of Lebanese localities amid the fighting, which the UN said has caused 600,000 people to become internally displaced.

In a video statement distributed to foreign press Thursday, IDF front man Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said troops in an evacuated village "built by Hezbollah" were "raiding every house, seizing all equipment, and dismantling Hezbollah’s ability" to carry out a plan similar to last year’s October 7 Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
terror onslaught in southern Israel.

"This is a terror base," he said, "every house here is ready for a raid against Israel."

The rear admiral is clearly the real thing, not a polished PR flack.
The IDF revealed what it said was evidence of the Iran-backed terror group’s plans last week, presenting images and maps from the foiled mass invasion plot. The army says that numerous Hezbollah positions and tunnels, as well as thousands of weapons, have since been destroyed by troops.

Hezbollah rockets continued to rain down on northern Israel on Thursday, even as the IDF’s Home Front Command announced that it was easing restrictions on gathering in certain areas to allow for communal High Holiday prayers. A barrage of some 50 rockets triggered sirens in multiple communities in the afternoon, including in Acre and Nahariya. No injuries were caused as a result, although several impacts were identified.

Shortly after, the Israeli Air Force said it had intercepted a “hostile aircraft” over the Western Galilee, followed by a drone that crossed into the Upper Galilee from Lebanon. Sirens were triggered in the area due to concerns that the interception would lead to falling fragments, but the IDF said that there had been no report of injuries.

Despite the rocket fire, educational activities will be able to resume in the central Galilee under new guidelines issued by the army Thursday, so long as they take place near shelters. In the Upper Galilee, meanwhile, they will be able to resume only from within shelters.

In the southern Golan Heights, Lower Galilee, the Carmel and Wadi Ara areas, the Home Front Command said gatherings would be allowed to take place outdoors with 100 people or less, and indoors with 350 or less.

Israeli arms maker said to be target of shooting in Sweden’s Gothenburg
[IsraelTimes] No injuries reported after gunshots heard near local unit of Elbit Defense Systems; suspect, reportedly a young teen, detained amid police probe of attempted murder, weapons crime

An office of Israeli military technology firm Elbit Systems in Gothenburg was the target of a shooting Thursday, according to media, with Swedish police saying there were no injuries, in the latest in a series of attacks on Israeli targets in Scandinavia in recent weeks.

Police told AFP that they had responded to a shooting "against an Israeli object in Kalleback" in Gothenburg, a coastal city in southwestern Sweden.

They added that no injuries had been reported and that a young suspect had been arrested. Newspaper Aftonbladet said the suspect was under the age of 15.

An investigation has been opened into "attempted murder" and an "aggravated weapons crime," police front man Fredrik Svedemyr said.

Svedemyr said police had sent several patrols and a helicopter to the scene. Elbit Systems said in an email to AFP that it "currently had no comment."

In early June, police said they had found a "suspected explosive object" outside the offices of the military technology firm, known for its unmanned aerial systems.

Government Corruption
'Out of money': Whistleblowers allege lack of Secret Service funds, delayed payments, top senator reveals
Does Hunter still have his team?
[FoxNews] New whistleblower records allege a failure of the U.S. Secret Service to provide funding for Homeland Security "jump teams" and their travel to support security efforts on the campaign trail ahead of the November election.

One email sent on Sept. 26 read, "Subject: Jump Team ‐ Out of Money," according to a record obtained by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and his oversight team.

The Department of Homeland Security's investigation unit jump team provides "a mechanism to build the connections between mission support and the front-line," according to the DHS website.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), an agency within DHS, is charged with addressing global threats.

"Jump Team members are responsible for helping to solve immediate issues, guide how funding is allocated, and to assist in developing solutions to deliver support most effectively to our front-line," the DHS website added.

In the wake of two separate assassination attempts against former President Trump, who is currently campaigning to be president again, jump teams have been deployed to assist the U.S. Secret Service.

However, the documents provided to Grassley's office via legally protected whistleblower disclosures show that fears of unpreparedness and mismanagement in the DHS and Secret Service could still be true, despite efforts to ramp up security.

"Please do not submit or resubmit Jump Team authorizations. There is only $33 on the line right now," DHS officials told HSI agents on Sept. 9, per Grassley. The senator's office pointed to this email as an example of just how low the funds had fallen.

On Sept. 26, agents were informed, "We will not receive more money for Jump Team this year."

The email instructed agents not to use the usual methods of expensing items, laying out a process of what to do instead.

"If by some miracle money is added, you will be notified immediately," the email continued.

"The Secret Service has a critical, no-fail protective mission to carry out. Based on protected whistleblower disclosures, it neglected to transfer enough funds for HSI to reimburse its agents, calling into question the agency’s ability to manage federal resources and raising major concerns," Grassley said in a statement. "Congress and the American people have witnessed too many Secret Service shortfalls in recent months — they deserve answers, and it’s Congress’ job to bring transparency and accountability."

In the Sept. 26 email from a DHS official, they revealed that "we had over $371,000 worth of Jump Team Authorizations Fail last night."

According to Grassley's office and the documents it has obtained, agents have been required to pay for expenses the agency can't cover. The senator noted that this would be in violation of the Antideficiency Act, which prohibits agencies from obligating or spending federal funds before they are appropriated.

Reimbursements to agents are also apparently being delayed, and employees are left with uncertainty about their pay.

In a Wednesday letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas; acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe; Patrick Lechleitner, the deputy director and senior official performing the duties of the director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement; and Katrina Berger, HSI executive associate director, Grassley described that "HSI agents are deployed, usually on very short notice, across the country on Jump Teams from as short as a few days for as long as multiple weeks, several times throughout the year."

"The whistleblower disclosures further show that in some cases HSI agents have had to pay for their own travel expenses such as flights, food, rental cars, and hotels, and other incidentals, because HSI has delayed reimbursing agents for costs due to the Secret Service failing to transfer funds to HSI."

"If you have an explanation to add context to these emails, I welcome it," he told the leaders.

Grassley requested additional information from the department and agencies, including documentation about the finances of HSI and its jump teams.

Neither the Secret Service nor Homeland Security immediately provided comment to Fox News Digital.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
From De Gaulle to Macron: How French arms embargoes of the 1960s transformed the IDF
[Jpost] A few days back, French President Emmanuel Macron called for an arms embargo on Israel in a bid to push the Israeli government to find a political solution to the ongoing war. France is not a major arms supplier for Israel. In 2023, France exported military equipment merely worth 30 million euros (US$33 million) to Israel. According to the SIPRI report, 99% of Israeli arms imports are from the USA and Germany. The French fatwa may be morally upsetting but is not likely to have any consequence on Israel’s war-fighting ability.

The situation, however, does evoke a sense of déjà vu.

Back in 1967, just three days before the Six-Day War, French President Charles De Gaulle had announced an arms embargo on Israel. Prepaid orders of Mirage fighter jets were canceled. De Gaulle wanted to realign with the Arab world, which had started to boycott France for its support of the Jewish state since the 1950s. The real damage happened two years later. On 3 January 1969, a second arms embargo was imposed by France after the Israeli attack on Beirut airport. Without the French connection, Israel felt cornered and helpless.

Besides building a special relationship with France — which became the largest arms supplier to Israel, the Israeli leadership started developing the domestic military industry in its early days. However, the seriousness of the indigenous capability came about in the late 1960s with DeGaulle’s policy shift.

Similar embargoes were imposed by the US and UK in 1971 and 1973, respectively, further pushing Israel to spearhead its military modernization program. By the end of the 1970s, Israel had the capability to produce advanced military equipment ranging from tanks and jet aircraft to precision-guided smart weapons, microelectronics, and rocket-propelled engines for sea-to-sea and air-to-air missiles. The IDF had achieved a high degree of technological superiority.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY MAKES ISRAEL STRONG
IN HIS 1997 ESSAY on force construction, Maj.-Gen. (ret.) Isaac Ben-Israel argued that "the more the war between us and the Arabs is conducted at a higher technological level, the better our relative situation will be." Israel’s wars with its adversaries were essentially a case of "few against many," and the leadership realized that the preferred scenario for them was a hi-tech war. Besides modernizing its military arsenal, bolstered by military aid from its biggest ally — the US, the IDF also underwent a technological facelift.

The IDF began building its cyber capabilities in the 1990s. Over the years, advanced cyber surveillance techniques and AI were employed to support and execute their ground operations. Specialized units such as MI’s Technological Unit 81 or Signals Intelligence Unit 8200 are known to have conducted some of the most sophisticated intelligence operations on foreign lands. The story does not end there. Israel created a unique knowledge-sharing model wherein the veterans of these specialized units were allowed, rather encouraged, to set up tech unicorns and cyber start-ups after leaving the IDF. By the turn of the century, Israel came to be known as the start-up nation and a technological marvel.

Now, IDF has its own new cyber defense training school — Basmach Maslul Alpha in Beersheba, under the Israel National Cyber Directorate, to mold youngsters into tech wizards. After graduation, these young techies are posted with technological units across the armed forces. Israel is harnessing the potential of its young, bright minds as well as the experience of veterans to its benefit, like no other country does. This unique civilian-military synergy changed the IDF of the pre-1990 era into the hi-tech, advanced military that the world knows today. From De Gaulle to Macron, Israel has come a long way.
How long we'll all see in a few days - when MM will get that's been coming to them.

The Grand Turk
Turkey’s magnificent mosques increasingly empty of worshippers
[Rudaw] Despite being the home of extravagant and iconic Islamic architecture, mosques in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
are increasingly missing one of their core elements - worshippers. A recent study showed that the number of Moslems in the country who pray daily has declined.

The surveying firm Asal Arastirma asked 2,000 people across Turkey how often they pray and nearly half of the participants said they do not pray at all.

According to the poll conducted in August, 44.5 percent of respondents said they do not pray at all and 36.7 percent said they only pray at special times such as Fridays, Eid, and gratitude (shukr) prayers. Only 18.8 percent said they pray daily.

The number of people who do not pray at all has increased from a similar study conducted in April 2022, when it was 41.8 percent, while the number of those who pray daily has plummeted from 23 percent.

The declining numbers of the prayerful can be traced to a "clash within religious families" and a "collapse" in the culture, according to Ottoman Turkish Islamic theologian Ihsan Eliacik.

"Children from religious families are becoming disillusioned with religion. While the religious groups are distancing themselves from religion, they are trying to Islamize the country along with those in power," Eliacik told Rudaw.

Turkey’s religious classes are not fulfilling the needs of the people, according to Eliacik. "Art, literature, culture, religious thought, and philosophy have collapsed. At this point, they have nothing to offer people," he said.

In Istanbul, there is a general belief that family priorities are shifting and this has contributed to a move away from the mosques.

"Let's say it's about the upbringing style. It stems from the parents. They are not teaching our religion. That's all I can say," Melek Sangor, a Ottoman Turkish citizen from Istanbul, told Rudaw.

"We see it because people are drifting further away from religion every day. What other reason could there be for this? Their only thought is for them to go to school. Let them go to school and study, regardless of what happens, that is also a wrong perspective," said Ahmet Tenger.

Erkan Tosun, another resident of Istanbul, said that the media has affected the way people think and blamed it for disrupting family and societal structures.

"Visual media, print media, and TV series are disrupting people's and society's structure. They are undermining the family structure. For this reason, in my opinion, the number of people attending mosques is decreasing," Tosun said.

attacked Israel on October 7, 2023.

The Olympic Spirit tanker in the Red Sea had been skirting the coast of East Africa when it found itself struck first by a projectile that damaged the vessel, but sparked no fire and caused no injuries, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said.

At least three more projectiles later fell in the waters around the vessel, which was a distance away from Hodeida, the Houthi-controlled port from which many of the rebels’ attacks have been launched.

Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a Houthi military front man, claimed the attack on the Olympic Spirit in a prerecorded video message aired Thursday night. He claimed the rebels launched multiple ballistic missiles targeting the tanker.

In Thursday’s attack, the private security firm Ambrey said it “assessed the vessel to have a strong affiliation with the Houthi targeting profile,” without elaborating.

Fifth Column
NYPD probing attack on pro-Israel group’s chairman at anti-Israel Oct. 7 protest
[IsraelTimes] Footage shows Democratic Majority for Israel’s Todd Richman unfurling Israeli flag in front of protesters, who then hit him, leaving him with bloody nose.

[X]

The NYPD Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the alleged
…because legally it has been yet to be proved, it seems…
assault of a prominent Israel advocate at a pro-Paleostinian, anti-Israel protest in New York on October 7.

That day, the one-year anniversary of Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
’s invasion of Israel, footage spread online of Todd Richman unfurling an Israeli flag in the middle of the city’s main pro-Paleostinian, anti-Israel protest. Protesters then attempted to grab the flag and, following a brief profanity-filled argument and altercation, hit Richman multiple times. He emerged with a bloody nose.

Richman, chairman of the political advocacy group Democratic Majority for Israel, was also wearing a shirt reading "Bring Them Home Now," a call for the release of hostages held by Hamas. The video was first posted by a news hound for The Washington Free Beacon, a conservative outlet, and has more than a million views as of Thursday afternoon.

Police told The New York Jewish Week on Thursday that they are investigating the incident, which took place in the afternoon at Union Square, as a hate crime.

"During the struggle, an unidentified male wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans struck the victim in the face with a flagpole," the NYPD said in a statement. "Additionally, an unidentified female, dressed in a black hat, black sweater, red sweat pants, and red sunglasses struck him in the face with a tambourine."

Both alleged perpetrators fled on foot, the statement said. "There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force," it added. Police also sent photos depicting four alleged perpetrators, three men and one woman, and asked for tips.

Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine condemned the attack.

"Todd Richman is a decent, caring man, an important leader for the Jewish community... and my friend," he tweeted. "This assault is absolutely appalling. There must be accountability for this."

Shortly after the incident, Richman, 54, briefly answered questions from news hounds with blood streaming down his face, according to an AM New York video. The next day, he said in a statement that he had recovered.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on me. Rest assured — I am fine," Richman said in the statement released by DMFI, which he helped found in 2019. "As Americans, we have the right to protest, but yesterday, on the one-year anniversary of the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust, pro-Hamas agitators in New York City crossed a line."

Richman declined to comment on actions he planned to take in response to the attack. In a statement on X, he remained defiant.

"My resolve is stronger than ever," he said Wednesday in a post including photos of the incident. "Am Yisrael Chai!"

The incident came on a day filled with demonstrations in support of and against Israel and is the latest in a string of physical altercations during the past year to happen at or near rallies over the Israel-Hamas war. The Anti-Defamation League condemned the incident and said it was part of a surge in attacks on Jews. It also warned people in the vicinity of protests to "exercise vigilance."

"There’s no doubt that in the current climate, pro-Israel activists and other bystanders increasingly face threats to their physical safety," an ADL front man said. "ADL has documented more than 150 assaults in the year since October 7, with at least a dozen taking place at anti-Israel protests that turned violent mostly peaceful. We urge anyone in the vicinity of a protest area to exercise vigilance and immediately report any threats or physical violence directly to law enforcement."

On Wednesday, Ofir Akunis, the Israeli consul general in New York, met with Richman. In a post online, Akunis’ office shared a photo of the two men and linked the incident to spikes in antisemitic violence.

"The surge in antisemitic violence is unacceptable," the consulate said. "We stand united against all forms of hate."

‘Serve the nation, kill a Jew’ graffitied on prominent Buenos Aires monument
[IsraelTimes] Antisemitic slogan, which has long history on Argentina’s far right, written on monument to independence hero Simon Bolivar days after Oct. 7 anniversary

An antisemitic slogan with a long history in Argentina

was discovered graffitied onto a monument in a Buenos Aires park on Wednesday, unnerving local Jews.

The graffiti, reading "Serve the nation, kill a Jew," was inked onto a column of a monument to Simon Bolivar, historically considered "the Liberator" of South America, in Parque Rivadavia in the Argentine capital. A Jewish star stood in for the final word of the slogan.

Argentina’s leading Jewish organization, known as DAIA, filed an official complaint, and the municipality swiftly cleaned up the graffiti in the afternoon, shortly after it was discovered.

DAIA condemned the "serious antisemitic graffiti" and said it was one of more than 500 antisemitic incidents the organization had recorded this year, amid a spike following Hamas

...anybody you disagree with, damn them...
movement that was active in Argentina in the decades following the war.

It has appeared more recently as well. A decade ago, residents in the town of General Paz received tax bills with the phrase written on them. The city official responsible for the printing was ultimately sentenced to a suspended jail term and was ordered to apologize and learn about the Holocaust.

The graffiti was discovered the same week that Jews in Buenos Aires marked the first anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel last year. An event organized by the country’s largest Jewish organizations drew 15,000 attendees, according to the country’s Israeli embassy.

There was a pro-Paleostinian, anti-Israel demonstration in the city the same day.

Afghanistan
Taliban and Ethnic Discrimination: Uzbeks Frustrated with Symbolic Role in Taliban Regime
I suppose I’d feel more sympathy were they not so eager to be part of the freaking Taliban government.
[8am] Many Uzbek citizens in Afghanistan argue that the Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s ethnic biases have excluded them from political power, denying them a meaningful role in national decision-making. They criticize the Taliban’s mono-ethnic regime, which they claim has failed to provide any significant benefits to Uzbeks over the past three years. Instead, they say, the Taliban have forced competent Uzbek leaders and representatives out of the country through threats and coercion. Even Uzbeks who supported the Taliban and fought as commanders or fighters against the former republic and foreign forces now hold no authority in political, economic, or social matters, serving only symbolic roles within the group. The former deputy of the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
’s special envoy to Afghanistan noted that these actions have prompted influential Uzbek figures to seek opportunities to form an independent force against the Taliban.

Tamkin, a 43-year-old Uzbek from Balkh province, shared her views with the Hasht-e Subh Daily on the Taliban’s discriminatory treatment of ethnic groups in Afghanistan. She said the Taliban have denied Uzbeks any political power. "The Taliban’s behavior has shaped perceptions to the point that when their regime is mentioned, only the Pashtun ethnicity comes to mind. High-ranking government positions, from ministries to even minor departments, are all dominated by Pashtuns. Uzbeks are overlooked, both in terms of ethnicity and the talent and qualifications of their youth and elders."

Tamkin added, "The Taliban should have learned from their previous rule, avoided repeating past mistakes, and formed a government where the Afghan people could see their qualified representatives in leadership positions, supporting the establishment of an Islamic government." He pointed out that the country is now under the control of a mono-ethnic regime, with other ethnic groups in Afghanistan not supporting it.

Mohammad Rozi, an Uzbek resident of Samangan province, echoed these sentiments, stating that the Taliban have done nothing to improve the lives of Uzbeks over the past three years. "The Taliban have not served the Uzbek people in any way. They threatened our elders, forcing them to flee the country, and made no positive contributions to education or higher learning. Uzbeks who fought alongside the Taliban against the republic and foreign forces now feel powerless and alienated under their rule," he said. He further added, "This government lacks legitimacy and cannot be called inclusive. Our country needs a truly inclusive government where all ethnic groups participate in national decision-making, leading Afghanistan toward progress and prosperity."

Uzbek dissatisfaction stems from the Taliban’s creation of a mono-ethnic government that has, over the past three years, fueled ethnic tensions and excluded other groups from political power, decision-making, and the pppcountry’s development. Many influential Uzbek representatives have been forced into hiding or exile outside Afghanistan.

Additionally, according to a report by the Middle East Research Institute (MERI), Uzbeks make up less than 3% of Taliban officials and hold no decision-making power, serving only symbolic roles in the regime.

In an interview on Monday, September 25, Michael Semple, the former deputy of the EU’s special envoy to Afghanistan, stated that the Taliban are using Uzbeks in Afghanistan as "tools of war and cannon fodder." He explained that the Taliban use Uzbeks in symbolic roles to claim their government is inclusive falsely. "The Taliban neither grant Uzbeks privileges nor share power with them, and they do not value them. The presence of Uzbeks in high government positions has steadily diminished," he said. Semple added that some influential Uzbeks critical of the Taliban are seeking opportunities to form an independent force against the group.

Semple’s remarks came shortly after the recent departure of Salahuddin Ayubi, an Uzbek Taliban commander, from the group. In 2022, Ayubi was appointed by the Taliban’s Supreme Leader, Hibatullah Akhundzada, as the police chief of Zabul province.

Ayubi played a key role in the Taliban’s capture of Afghanistan’s northern provinces and was one of the first individuals to enter Kabul after the fall of the republic, seizing the Presidential Palace. The Taliban have yet to comment on his departure.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, all the pieces finally fell together in Fluffy's mind...
Marshal Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
, the leader of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan, currently in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, recently called for the formation of a parallel government to oppose the Taliban. He urged exiled Afghan political parties to unite and save Afghanistan from what he describes as the "Taliban occupation."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
3 reserve soldiers killed in northern Gaza as IDF presses offensive in Jabaliya
Continuing to degrade Hamas’s present and future ability to attack Israel, destroying weapons, tunnels, above-ground strongpoints, and manpower.
[IsraelTimes] Palestinian Red Crescent reports 28 killed in strike on Hamas command post at former school; military says Hamas commanders who took part in Oct. 7 targeted in Wednesday airstrike

The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday that three reserve soldiers were killed amid fighting in the northern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip, where the military launched a fresh ground offensive this week to prevent Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
from reestablishing itself in the area.

The three, all soldiers in the 5460th support unit of the 460th Brigade, were named as:

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Ori Moshe Borenstein, 32, from Moreshet.

  • Maj. (res.) Netanel Hershkovitz, 37, from Jerusalem.

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Tzvi Matityahu Marantz, 32, from Bnei Adam.

Their deaths bring the number of Israeli troops killed in the ground offensive in Gaza to 353.

The announcement came as the IDF said troops were pressing ahead with the operation in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya, where according to a military statement they killed dozens of terror operatives over the previous 24 hours. The statement said troops captured weapons including rifles, RPG launchers, and ammunition.

On Thursday, the military struck another alleged Hamas command post at a school-turned-shelter in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah. The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy said the strike on the Rufaida school complex killed 28 people and maimed 54 others, without differentiating between civilians and combatants.

"Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence," the military said in a statement.

Israel also noted that Hamas and other terror groups have routinely used schools, shelters and other protected facilities for their operations, with the civilians there serving as human shields. The IDF vowed to continue striking terror operatives wherever they are, while making efforts to minimize harm to nearby civilians.

Witnesses quoted by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said the strike occurred while school managers were meeting with representatives of an aid group in a room normally used by Hamas-run police who provide security. They said there were no police in the room at the time.
And in the rest of the building? How many Hamasnik casualties were there in the school complex, pray tell?
The Paleostinian branch of Terre des Hommes, a Swiss aid group, said in a statement that members of one of its children’s health teams were killed in the strike, though it did not specify how many.
Let us look serious while we ponder how many Hamasniks were also members of the Terre des Hommes children’s health team, because it always turns out that these people were double dipping. Often also dipping their wicks in the local wimmin’n’kiddies, though nice people refuse to notice their friends and colleagues partaking until their noses are rubbed in it by those horrid gentlemen of the gutter press.
According to the military, troops eliminated numerous button men, uncovered weapons and demolished military infrastructure in ground operations in central Gaza on Thursday. In southern Gaza’s Rafah, forces located and destroyed rocket launchers, weaponry, and underground tunnel shafts used by terror operatives, the IDF said.

Also Thursday, a small drone was launched from the Gaza Strip toward Israel and downed by the IDF as it crossed the border, the military said. No one was hurt in the incident.

Along with the ground operations, the Israeli Air Force hit around 30 Hamas targets in Gaza over the past day, according to the military, which said the strikes targeted terror cells, weapon stockpiles, launchers, buildings, underground infrastructure and other assets of terror groups.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
the UN children’s agency announced Thursday that Israel had agreed to "humanitarian pauses" in specific areas of Gaza to facilitate a second round of polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...
vaccinations for some 590,000 children under the age of 10. Israel has yet to comment on the announcement.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Brigadier General Amar Al-Wawi, Chief of Staff of the Free Syrian Army, Issues Ultimatum to Hezbollah and Iranian Proxies to Leave Syria
[X]

Once upon a time, back in 2011, the Free Syrian Army was the big tent opposition to the Bashar al Assad Baathist Syrian government, and Amar al-Wawi, a former government intelligence officer, moved freely across the border between Turkey and Syria as their public relations man. Then ISIS and Al Nusra broke away, the Muslim Brotherhooder types set themselves up as the Islamic Front, and the non-religious rump withered away, leaving an empty name to be used by Turkey for its mixture of Turkic paramilitaries and ISIS remnants stationed on the Syrian side of Turkey’s border to guard it and harass the Kurdish and Syrian natives. Amar al-Wawi seems to have kept his footing, though, clearly continuing to make himself as useful to the Turkish paymasters in the current setup as he was to them in the heady days of the Arab Spring.

Rallies in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem demand ‘cabinet of death’ reach hostage deal
[IsraelTimes] Oddly enough, no crowd estimate was given, and the sole photo of the marchers was taken with some kind of extreme fisheye lens that makes it impossible for the viewer to make out any details.
