Ellen DeGeneres’ Attack On Trump Backfires With LGBTQ Support For Donald
[RVMnews] Comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres
…who used to be funny…
recently found herself at the center of controversy after making a jab at former President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
, implying he was anti-LGBT.

The post, shared on her Instagram account, featured an image of a young boy in drag-style makeup with the words, "You can’t tell someone you love them and then vote for someone who will hurt them" written on his cheek.

The post was met with widespread criticism from users, many of whom identified as part of the LGBTQ community, pushing back on DeGeneres’ portrayal of Trump as harmful to LGBT interests.

One comment, which quickly garnered over 33,000 likes, read, "I’m gay and I’m voting for Trump. Do I hate myself? Absolutely not. Messages like these are what spreads hate."

Other users shared similar sentiments, with one commenting, "As a lesbian, I had more under Trump. He’s got my vote," while another added, "Lesbian for Trump right here, baby."

The responses continued to pour in, overwhelmingly in favor of Trump, leaving DeGeneres without much support for her original post.

The situation highlights a divide in the LGBTQ community, where not all members align with the political left.

While DeGeneres and many in Hollywood have vocally supported Democratic candidates, some individuals within the LGBTQ community have expressed their support for Trump, citing economic reasons and a focus on personal interests over identity politics.

In response to the backlash, many commenters noted that DeGeneres, like other celebrities, assumed she could speak for an entire community based on her status and fame.

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
the response from her own followers suggests a different reality, where many prioritize policy issues like the economy, inflation, and personal freedom over the identity-based narratives often promoted by the left.

Adding to the conversation, Trump himself has courted support from various groups, including the LGBTQ community.

During a campaign event on Tuesday, he playfully called out to a group in the audience, asking, "Where’s Gays for Trump?" The group responded enthusiastically, prompting Trump to joke, "You don’t look gay," which was met with laughter from the crowd.

Trump’s approach has resonated with many who feel that being part of the LGBTQ community doesn’t necessitate aligning with the political left.

Instead, they argue that voting based on one’s personal interests—such as the economy and national security—should take precedence over identity politics.

Ellen DeGeneres’ social media post serves as a reminder that public figures, even those with large platforms, don’t always reflect the views of the communities they claim to represent.

In this case, the backlash was swift and clear: many LGBTQ individuals are rejecting the notion that voting for Trump is incompatible with their identity, and they are making their voices heard.

Europe
Brussels venue de-platforms Al-Jazeera-funded conference over Hamas leader participation
[Jpost] Majed Al-Zeer, who was designated by the US earlier this week, was set to lead an event at the private-owned Brussels Press Club with his lobbying organization, EUPAC.

A conference funded by Al-Jazeera and led by Hamas officials in Europe was deleted by its Brussels host venue’s website following a recent US treasury designation.

The event was organized by the European Palestinian Council for Political Relations (EUPAC), a Belgium-registered lobbying organization led by two Hamas officials in Europe, chairman Majed Al-Zeer and deputy chairman Mohammad Hannoun, both designated only this week by the US treasury as officials in Hamas who raised millions of dollars for the benefit of the terror group.

The conference was supposed to take place on October 14, yet now the invitation has been taken off the venue’s website, and a different event appears on that same date. It was originally titled "The Genocidal War in Gaza One Year On: Humanitarian, Legal and Political Implications in the European Context", and was supposed to feature members of the European Parliament, including Lynn Boylan (Ireland), Daniel Attard (Malta) and Vicent Marzà Ibáñez (Spain), with aforementioned EUPAC chairman Majed Al-Zeer as a key speaker. Despite this, as of now, the decision to freeze the conference altogether has not yet been taken, and it is unclear whether the conference will take place at the venue or at a different location.

THE AL-JAZEERA-HAMAS CONNECTION
As mentioned, the conference, which is meant to host a designated Hamas official, was funded by Al-Jazeera, a fact which may further highlight the relations between Hamas and the Qatari outlet.

Hamas, a terrorist organization designated by the EU, Canada, the US, and many other nations, defines itself as the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist political and social movement that was founded almost a century ago in Egypt and seeks to establish an Islamic state with Sharia as its law. Other tributaries of the Muslim Brotherhood include Al-Qaeda and ISIS, both of which are part of the Salafi Jihadist stream of the movement.

Qatar, who owns the Al-Jazeera network, is known as one of the major patrons of the Muslim Brotherhood, promoting its branches across the globe with funding and moral support. In Israel, local courts argued that Hamas views Al-Jazeera as their propaganda and intelligence arm, and indeed on many occasions the Qatari-owned channel publishes exclusive footage and first-hand statements and information originating from Hamas and its militia, the Al-Qassam Brigades.

The new US designation, which was published on the one year commemoration of the October 7th Massacre, stressed that other parties are prohibited from providing funds, goods or services for the benefit of the newly recognized Hamas officials, warning of ‘secondary sanctions’ to those who engage in “certain transactions.” However, it is unclear whether Al-Jazeera would also be subject to those sanctions in the case of funding this event.

ACTIVISTS AND POLITICIANS ENCOURAGE PRESS CLUB TO FREEZE THE EVENT
Michael Freilich, a member of the Belgian Parliament, encouraged the Press Club to freeze the conference, adding: “I urge the Press Club to adhere to the US designation and freeze the event. However, regardless of the outcome, nothing would absolve Belgium of its responsibility. The urgent need to shut down EUPAC, freeze its assets, and expel its leaders back to the West Bank cannot be ignored. With the U.S. Treasury's recent designation of this organization’s leaders, it is clear that the time for decisive action is now. The current Belgian government must prioritize this issue, especially given the disturbing tendency to blur the line between legitimate support for the Palestinian people and tacit acceptance of Hamas's violent agenda. This is not a matter of diplomacy, but of national security and moral clarity.”

A spokesperson for IMPAC, a Brussels-based not-for-profit engaged in promoting democratic values and countering radicalization, who highlighted Al-Zeer’s designation, commended the decision to take the event off the Press Club’s website, adding: “A swift and clear cancellation of the event would be a positive outcome that reflects the Brussels Press Club’s dedication to upholding its standards and ensuring that its premises are not exploited by individuals with ties to terrorist organizations. This would send a clear message that terrorism has no place in our public forum.”

Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights attorney and CEO of The International Legal Forum, commented: “Common sense must prevail. It is inexplicable that on the anniversary of 12 months since the Hamas slaughter, the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust, that anyone would contemplate even for a moment, to provide a platform to a Hamas-designated terrorist. The Press Club must implement a more stringent review process for future events and speakers, to ensure space is not provided to designated terrorists and individuals inciting racial hatred."

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas tries to prevent civilians fleeing danger in northern Gaza
[Ynet] As troops urge Gazans to leave, many remain fearing travel through areas under IDF control and after threats from Hamas that seeks to use them as human shields while forces hunt them down

The Hamas terror group has been preventing civilians from leaving areas under IDF attack and sheltering in humanitarian zones.
Yes, well it’s hard to hid behind your human shields if the selfish things rudely take themselves off to a safe zone.
The military has been urging civilians to leave ahead of an operation targeting Hamas terrorists. Some 200,000 people managed to leave,
…about half, which is something…
according to the military but many civilians remain.

Troops began going door to door, interrogating the men and asking the women and children to leave for an UNRWA school where they would be safe.

Some said they were afraid to move through areas under IDF control and others said Hamas terrorists were threatening them and demanding that they stay. The Hamas interior ministry also called on civilians to remain where they were, making them human shields for the terrorists.

Hamas health officials said the IDF demanded that hospitals in the area, evacuate. They said the Kamal Adwan hospital was surrounded and that the forces were shooting at the administration offices. Hamas also claimed there was a siege on northern Gaza and that basic supplies were not allowed in.

An Israeli security official said the Palestinians in northern Gaza are again experiencing fear of attack while Hamas attempts to assert its governing control of the area.

On Thursday, the IDF said it destroyed a Hamas command center inside what had been a medical facility, killing 12 terrorists. the military identified three of the dead as terrorists who participated in the Hamas massacre on Oct. 7 last year.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Why did Israel target Nasrallah's special negotiator in Beirut strike?
[Ynet] Wafiq Safa is under U.S. sanctions for exploiting Lebanese ports, border crossings to facilitate Hezbollah terrorists’ travel; known as Beirut Airport strongman overseeing weapons arrival from Iran that is stored in great amounts at the airport

IDF carried out two airstrikes on central Beirut on Thursday, targeting areas outside Hezbollah's stronghold the Dahieh, for the third time in the war. According to some reports, the attacks were an attempt to assassinate Hezbollah's Liaison and Coordination Unit head Wafiq Safa, a close ally of slain Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah who was killed in an Israeli attack last month.

Lebanese health officials said 18 people were killed and 92 injured in the strikes. Safa's fate was unknown, security sources told Sky News Arabic while other sources said he survived the attempt on his life.

According to the U.S. Treasury Department's website, Safa exploits Lebanese ports and border crossings to facilitate Hezbollah terrorists’ travel. The site adds that, together with senior Hezbollah member Mohammad Raad, Safa was involved in attempting to secure foreign citizenships for 100 Hezbollah operatives who were to be sent on "long missions" in Western or Arab countries.

Safa is a well-known figure in Beirut and his position in Hezbollah gave him incredible power. He was known as the man who was actually in charge of Beirut's Rafic Al Hariri International Airport, the main gateway into Lebanon.

An airport employee told the newspaper Safa maintained close ties with customs control. "Wafiq Safa is always showing up at customs,” one whistleblower claimed, citing close relationships with the customs managers. “I feel like if we don’t do what they say, our families will be in danger.”

According to an investigative report in the UK's Telegraph newspaper last June, Hezbollah was hiding a significant weapons stockpile at the airport. Officials there said the terror group receives weapons on flights from Iran that are then stored. According to the same sources, Hezbollah stores huge amounts of Iranian weapons, missiles and explosives inside the civilian airport.

“This is extremely serious, mysterious large boxes arriving on direct flights from Iran are a sign that things got worse. When they started to come through the airport, my friends and I were scared because we knew that there was something strange going on,” one source at the airport said.

The paper reported that a Lebanese official rejected the claims and Transport Minister Ali Hamie called the information incorrect. He has invited media and ambassadors to visit the airport to see for themselves. Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said he would be suing the publication.

As a member of Nasrallah's close circle, Safa was part of the negotiation committee Hezbollah established in 2000 during the kidnapping of three IDF soldiers on Mount Dov – Benyamin Avraham, Adi Avitan, and Omar Sawaid. The three bodies were returned to Israel in 2004 in a prisoner exchange deal.

He also participated in negotiations for the return of soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, who were kidnapped by the terror group shortly before the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

Report: Wafiq Safa in critical condition after Beirut strike
Not dead yet, just resting. Sepsis should kick in soon.
[AnNahar] Hezbollah senior leader Wafiq Safa was seriously injured and is in critical condition following the deadly Israeli airstrikes that targeted two buildings in Beirut’s Noueiri and Bourj Abi Haidar areas, sources told Sky News Arabia on Friday.

1 murdered after missile fire on the Galilee
[Ynet] Foreign worker struck by anti-tank missile, two others hurt; IDF says it killed the Hezbollah commander responsible for anti-tank missile fire on Israel in a strike on South Lebanon; rockets hit Haifa suburb industrial zone earlier

One man was murdered on Friday after a missile attack on the Upper Galilee. He was a foreign worker who was driving a tractor when the anti-tank missile hit. At least two others were injured in the attack. The IDF shot down two attack drones the entered Israeli air space from Lebanon. Hezbollah rockets continued to target the Galilee throughout the morning.

The military said its jets killed Hezbollah's commander of the anti-tank missile force in South Lebanon. The strike came after forces operating on the ground directed the jets to where terrorists were in battle with them.

A Hezbollah-affiliated news site said the IDF once again fired at a UNIFIL position in South Lebanon after condemnations of Israel in the United Nations on Thursday following previous incidents of fire. Two members of the peacekeeping force were reported to be lightly hurt.

The Al Akhbar newspaper reported that Israel hoped to remove UNIFIL from South Lebanon and replace the peacekeepers with an alternative international force. According to the report, there is an American initiative to bring major alterations to UN resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War and to the deployment of international forces on Lebanon's borders with Israel and Syria.

In an earlier rocket strike on the coastal areas in the north including the city of Acre and the northern suburbs of Haifa, some 25 projectiles were fired, one landing in an industrial zone in Kiryat Bialik, causing damage but no injuries.

The military said it had also shot down an attack drone targeting Ashkelon in the early morning. Sirens warned of the attack in the city and its surrounding areas but no damage or injury were reported.

Unmasking genocide accusations: Israel and the Palestinians
[Ynet] Accusations of genocide against Israel are widely debated, but they lack evidence and distract from real issues; Hamas, not Israel, causes Palestinian suffering through violence and oppressive governance, while Israel aims to protect civilians

The notion that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians has been a contentious topic for nearly 40 years. This accusation diverts attention from the core issues and undermines the gravity of actual genocides.

It is crucial to understand that Hamas, rather than Israel, has engaged in actions that could be seen as genocidal by deliberately targeting Israeli civilians with the intent of inflicting maximum harm.

Conversely, Israel's actions are framed as necessary for the protection of Palestinians from their leadership, which manipulates their suffering for political leverage.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT AND ACCUSATIONS
The term "genocide" began to be used against Israel particularly since the First Intifada in 1987, and more prominently during the Second Intifada (2000-2005). Accusations from Palestinian leaders and supporters often include claims of colonization, ethnic cleansing and genocide.

LEGAL DEFINITION OF GENOCIDE
The 1948 United Nations Genocide Convention defines genocide as acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, including killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm, deliberately inflicting conditions of life to bring about physical destruction, imposing measures to prevent births and forcibly transferring children.

EVALUATING ISRAEL'S ACTIONS
Killing members of the group: From 1987 to 2023, around 10,000 Palestinians lost their lives in the conflict (All sources cannot be verified). Since the 2023 war, casualties have risen to about 40,000 if we accept the numbers of casualties being released by Hamas which are most likely higher than in reality.

Comparatively, many other conflicts with much higher civilian death tolls have not been labeled as genocide, including the Second Congo War with 5.4 million deaths, or the Iraq War with up to 500,000 deaths.

Serious bodily or mental harm: There are instances of harm due to the harsh reality of war, but no substantial evidence shows intent to destroy the Palestinian people as a group.

Conditions of life: Living conditions for Palestinians in Israel and the West Bank have significantly improved with a 1000% rise in GDP per capita in the past 40 years, with increases in household income far outpacing neighboring countries. In Gaza, however, conditions have stagnated or worsened under Hamas' rule. Therefore it is Hamas who is responsible for the bad conditions that Palestinians in Gaza face, while Palestinians in the West Bank and Israel enjoy a much higher standard of life.

Preventing births: The Palestinian population has grown significantly, from 1.9 in 1987 to nearly 5 million in 2023, countering claims of measures intended to prevent births.

Forcibly transferring children: While there are reports of detained Palestinian children, international law permits the detention of enemy combatants for questioning if done humanely. Other than that, there is no credible evidence that Israel is forcibly transferring Palestinian children.

THE CURRENT WAR IN GAZA
The current war, initiated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, with barbaric attacks on Israeli civilians, has resulted in significant casualties. Hamas' strategy of embedding military operations within civilian infrastructure exacerbates the situation, forcing Israel to target these areas, which is legal under international law. Israel has taken extensive measures to minimize civilian harm, including warnings and humanitarian aid.

The evidence does not support the claim that Israel is committing genocide. Accusations against Israel serve more as strategic narratives than substantiated facts. Recognizing the true nature of these accusations is essential for understanding and resolving the conflict, respecting the term "genocide," and addressing the real contributors to the suffering of Palestinians. If anything, Hamas should be accused of committing genocide against the Palestinians.

World Health Organization officially confesses COVID shots CAUSE monkeypox
[WND] Report confirmed 'admission' is buried deep on the WHO's Vigiaccess web page. Among the known side effects of the use of Pfizer's BioNTech vaccine, WHO now lists monkeypox, smallpox, and cow pox, along with a long list of additional threats.

COVID-19, that modified bat virus first spotted near a Chinese research institute that was toying around with those dangerous pathogens, undoubtedly was and remains a threat to many people.

But the shots that the world's pharmaceuticals created to battle it also have been found to be related to heart diseases and failures as well as a multitude of other health threats.

Now even the World Health Organization, that bureaucracy that worked with China first to conceal the threat, then demanded entire populations be forced to take the experimental COVID shots, has admitted that they are problematic.

#2  It is good there is curiosity and concern about what is in the vax, but Monkeypox seems to be a very particular lifestyle. If the vax has a 1 in whatever chance of inducing Monkeypox wouldn't there be a widespread behavioral infection pattern?

#3  I went to the article and followed the links there, but couldn’t find anything about monkeypox, let alone a link between monkeypox and the Covid vaccine. It could definitely be a a failure of my ability to search, so if someone could follow the links and find a connection, I’d be grateful.

#4  Cancel that, with my apologies. I went back and actually followed the very precise linked directions here, and it’s right where they said it was.

But six incidents for monkeypox, when other things are in the multiple hundreds of thousands out of tens of millions of injections given… Yes it could be related, but it’s curable and only an issue for one’s s3x partners, so as long as one is monogamous it’s not going to explode into a pandemic. And that is demonstrated by the fact of how few actual cases showed up in real people, and they all of a particular lifestyle and connected to a single summer festival in Spain, as I recall.

As the article points out, there are much more likely health threats connected to the vaccine.

#14  i'd say monkeypox is there because it depresses the immune system and shingles comes out which may be mistaken for monkeypox

or makes you more likely to catch due to immune suppression

its still weird and third world to include that in there because obviously the monkeypox virus isn't in the jab (if viruses even exist)

Jay Couey on Rumble: GigaOhm Biological has an interesting take that mRNA cannot pandemic as it can't replicate without errors enough to.

The whole pandemic was a lie, the increased death rate was just people denied antibiotics, treatment for heart attacks (they banned compressions in NY City remember), and those murdered by the hospitals with high flow oxygen, remdesivir and midazolam

He posits the reason you get sick is not because of a virus it's because of exosomes your body produces communicating with exosomes on other people.

The argument for no viruses is actually a lot sounder than you would think

so what it means, is that the WHO vigiaccess system accepts voluntary reporting that is not checked or cross checked

so it's a red-flag warning system only similar to VAERS in which you basically look for huge data bulges of mass-reported injuries and then investigate those.

the small stuff is ignored as artifacts which to be fair this clearly is

-Great Cultural Revolution
CBS journalists need Race and Culture Unit approval for ‘basically every story,' former staffer says
[FoxNews] CBS News’ Race and Culture Unit needs to sign off on show scripts that could potentially offend particular viewers, according to a former staffer with knowledge of the process.

A former CBS employee told Fox News Digital the broadcast network's Race and Culture Unit vetted "basically every story" that could potentially be considered culturally sensitive.

The former employee said show producers were "required" to send drafts of show scripts to an email chain with members of the Race and Culture Unit as well as the standards and practices unit and could only proceed if they signed off.

CBS News’ Race and Culture Unit has emerged as a hot-button issue in recent days after a report that "CBS Mornings" co-host Tony Dokoupil found himself in hot water for asking questions that were not cleared by the network’s Race and Culture unit.

Dokoupil sparked an internal uproar earlier this month when he interviewed author Ta-Nehisi Coates about his book, "The Message," which delved into his travels to Israel and the Palestinian territories.

Dokoupil told Coates his heavily anti-Israel book – which has been criticized for omitting significant context about Palestinian terrorism and the Jewish state's extraordinary security situation – read like something you would find in "the backpack of an extremist." Dokoupil, who is Jewish, also pushed him on whether he believes Israel has the right to exist.

After news broke that liberal staffers objected to Dokoupil’s line of questioning, Puck media reporter Dylan Byers reported that the Race and Culture Unit didn’t approve of the anchor’s actions.

"Last Tuesday, while the CBS News leadership was consumed with the network’s vice presidential debate, the issue was elevated to the network’s Race and Culture unit, which was formed in the summer of 2020, amid the George Floyd reckoning, and determines whether the ‘tone, content, and intention’ of any segment or package are suitable for the network’s air," Byers reported.

"The unit, led by Alvin Patrick, determined that while Dokoupil’s questions and intentions were acceptable, his tone was not," Byers added. "Meanwhile, the network’s Standards and Practices division, led by Claudia Milne, determined that Dokoupil had not followed the preproduction process wherein questions are run through Race and Culture and Standards and Practices."

CBS leadership informed staffers that Dokoupil’s interview didn’t meet the company’s "editorial standards," the Free Press reported, which obtained audio of a staff meeting.

The CBS News Race and Culture Unit has "a four-pronged role at CBS News and Stations as a reviewer, an incubator, a producer and a library," according to the CBS website. The unit sees its primary role as a reviewer to "ensure all stories have the proper context, tone and intention."

CBS News did not respond to a Fox News Digital request when asked if "basically every story" needs to be vetted by the Race and Culture Unit.

The New York Times previously reported that Dokoupil ultimately had to meet with both the CBS News standards and practices team and the Race and Culture Unit following the interview.

Dokoupil eventually expressed regret for the interview causing tumult, but not for his line of questioning, according to the New York Times.

#1  The only surprise here is that it's coming to light. People who watch CBS uncritically are now beginning to wonder about the network. The rest of us are saying, "Told you."

Posted by: ed in texas || 10/12/2024 12:14 Comments || Top||

#2  Houses in hurricane and tornado prone areas should be made to be aerodynamic. Eaves that hang over the outer walls are an invitation for high winds to lift the roof away from the rest of the house. Flat outer walls present obstacles to high winds so they might be flattened. But more rounded walls would allow the wind to pass around them. This is not rocket science but you might have noticed that rockets are not made in the shape of square or rectangular boxes. They wouldn't get far if they were. Instead, they are long round tubes with pointed tips to facilitate their movement through the air. Boats and ships are not made in the shape of square or rectangular boxes because it would take a lot more energy to move them through the water if they were. Instead they are made with narrow bows and hulls that gradually widen toward the stern so as to lessen resistance as they move through the water.

OK. It's easy for me to write all this since I live in California and we don't get tornadoes or hurricanes. Instead we get earthquakes and wild fires. The state has laws mandating that structures are built to withstand earthquakes. These standards are at least partially effective. We don't allow brick houses which is kind of a shame because they look so cool, better than stucco. But stucco is better in an earthquake. We don't do as well with fires but at least wooden "shake" roofs are no longer popular.

As a society, we've been living with these types of hazards for a couple hundred years now. It's about time we figured it out.

Government Corruption
Shocking History of Dominion Voting - How Obama rigged the creation of Dominion Voting Co.
[X] I need help in identifying who wrote this stunning article below, wish to give them credit.

Since 2009, Dominion Voting Systems operated from 215 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON, M5T 2C7,Canada — an office space of the radical Tides Foundation. This building houses (or housed until a few months ago) a Toronto office of Tides Canada and a Tides’ incubation space for leftist groups.

Dominion Voting Systems Corp. is the Canadian company behind the ballot switching software.
Dominion was founded in 2003, with a mission to provide electronic voting systems friendly for progressives. Because of such partisanship, it languished with almost no customers for the next 5-6 years, until the Obama administration came to power.

In 2010, the Obama administration confiscated electronic voting systems assets (software, intellectual property, manufacturing tools, customer base, etc.) from two established American companies, and gave them to Dominion. At the same time, Dominion got some employees and assets from a foreign EVS company, tied to Hugo Chavez.

Its software has been used by some 40% of the voters in this elections, mostly by Democrat-controlled states and election commissions. Apparently, no protections were put in place against ballot switching, deletion, or creation. According to Dominion’s own website, it software was used in "battleground" states and the largest Democrat states, including MI, GA, AZ, NV, NM, CO, AK, UT, NJ, CA, NY.

Dominion Early History
Dominion Voting System Corp., was founded in Canada in 2002-2003 with an openly progressive mission — to develop electronic voting software which would not just process ballots, but also "mobilize voters" — a popular slogan of the Left.

It is not clear what products or services the company has developed. It found almost no buyers, until Obama was elected in 2008. In 2009, New York ordered a few dozens of systems from it. In 2010, Obama’s DOJ (Holder — Mueller) took the EVS unit, purchased from Diebold, away from the market leader ES&S, and gave it to Dominion. This gift included the installed base of about 30% of the US electronic voting systems (EVS) market. Within two weeks, Dominion also acquired Sequoia, which was formally spun from Smartmatic, but ties between these two companies remained.

Smartmatic is a UK based EVS vendor, whose software was used by Chavez to "win" the Venezuelan referendum in 2004. Smartmatic’s unit Sequoia faced troubles in the US. Those troubles quickly ended when its assets were purchased by Dominion.

Thus, the new Democratic party created a pocket pet corporation, gave it the lion share of the US electronic voting systems market. Dominion is ideologically aligned with the Democratic Party, owes it everything it has, dependent on it for most of its business, and needs it in power to avoid prosecution for corruption. Sounds like a conflict of interest.

Electronic Voting
Using electronic voting machines has always been controversial. The pros for electronic voting — saving working time of the ballot counters — are minuscule. The cons however are infinite. Because software is inherently complex, non-transparent, and volatile, there is always a risk of significant errors. There are also suspicions and doubts about election results. The complexity of software and hardware on which voting machines run has been continually increasing, aggravating these concerns.

At the beginning of 2009, there were four major US EVS suppliers: ES&S, Premier (a unit of Nixdorf-Diebold), Sequoia (linked to Smartmatic), and Hart Intercivic. The market size was a few hundred million dollars a year and growing. EVS vendors competed among themselves and against traditional pen and paper voting. There were no barriers to entry for other competitors, other than government’s regulations.

Electronic voting, which sounded like a good idea in the 1980s is so no more. Electronic voting machines and their vendors were under criticism for many years. In 2007-2008, this criticism materialized in the SEC, DOJ, and states lawsuits against the voting machines vendors. Diebold was catching flack for having a prominent Republican party supporter among their top executives. It spun its EVS unit as a separate company Premier, and was looking for a buyer. The existing vendors were burdened with liabilities, including DOJ investigations. This opened up an opportunity for the Obama administration.

Technical Vulnerabilities of EVS Systems
The voting software developers can easily insert code, changing numbers in favor of or against one candidate. No hacking is necessary. The malicious code can be designed to pass tests and to be triggered only at the time of a real election, automatically or manually. Both case are possible even the the machine is disconnected from the internet and has no ordinary I/O devices.

The malicious code can be activated manually in real time by inserting a ballot or another paper with a pre-defined QR or image code. An audit of the source code is necessary, but not sufficient. Dominion software runs on Windows, and the malicious code can be hidden in any part of the operating system. Malicious code can be hidden in the firmware, too.

If a state wants to take risks and to rely on testing and the source code audit, they should be conducted with the participation of technically competent representatives of both parties. If the system passes testing and auditing, the machine image must be securely stored. All supplied machines must have exactly the same hardware and the software as the audited system.

As far as I know, thorough tests and source code audits are conducted very rarely, if at all. Further, the vendors are not required to use only the audited image, and are allowed to update the software almost at will. That means that election commissions are forced to blindly trust the vendors. Blind trust is always wrong and invites abuse. But even "trust but verify" is applicable only to trustworthy vendors. Dominion Voting is the opposite of trustworthy.

The only real solution to the vulnerability of EVS is not to use them at all. Manual ballot counting has no software vulnerabilities, and is much cheaper. Virginia appears to be the only state that decided to use only manual ballots.

How Dominion went from nothing to everything in two weeks
In September 2009, ES&S acquired Premier [8], without any objections from the DOJ. But in March 2010, the Obama’s DOJ (Eric Holder — Robert Mueller) forced ES&S to "sell" Premier’s assets to Dominion, but to keep its liabilities. In addition, ES&S was forced to license to Dominion some of its software, in perpetuity and free of charge. The pretext for the DOJ action was antitrust.

The "Sale"
This is how the assets transfer was structured, per DOJ [1] (March 8, 2010). "WASHINGTON — The Department of Justice announced today that it will require Election Systems & Software (ES&S) to divest voting equipment systems assets it purchased in September 2009 from Premier Election Solutions Inc. in order to restore competition.

The assets to be divested include the means to produce all versions of Premier’s hardware, software and firmware used to record, tabulate, transmit or report votes, including the Assure 1.2 system, and a license to better serve disabled voters. The department said that today’s settlement will restore competition in voting equipment systems in the United States... "

"In order to restore competition" sounds funny, because the same document also required ES&S to not compete against the buyer (with exceptions).

"... the acquisition substantially reduced competition as it combined the two largest providers of systems used to tally votes in federal, state and local elections in the United States. ES&S’s acquisition of Premier made ES&S the provider of more than 70 percent of the voting equipment systems in the United States. The department said that because the cash value of the deal between ES&S and Premier was $5 million, far below the mandatory reporting threshold for mergers under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, the department’s investigation of the transaction did not begin until the companies had combined their assets and dismantled many of Premier’s operating divisions."

Sounds like a poor pretext. The DOJ has been investigating these companies even before the merger, and was aware of it. Further, the DOJ does not allege that the merger has not been reported. Even so, why not simply demand unrolling the merger? The DOJ provides a poor excuse to demand divestiture rather than a normal unrolling.

"Under the terms of the settlement, ES&S must divest all of the intellectual property associated with all versions —past, present and in development —of the Premier voting equipment systems to another company. ES&S also must divest all Premier tooling and fixed assets, as well as inventory of parts and components. In order to allow the divestiture buyer to better serve disabled voters, ES&S must also grant a fully paid-up, irrevocable, perpetual license to use the AutoMARK, ES&S’s ballot marking device for which Premier had a limited license prior to the acquisition. The buyer of the divestiture assets will have the right to modify and improve both Premier products and the AutoMARK."
Thus, the Obama’s DOJ stripped ES&S not only acquired Premier assets, but also coerced it to license rights to its pre-merger product.

"ES&S must sell the divestiture assets to a buyer approved by the department." This is not selling. This is confiscation multiplied by corruption. "The settlement prohibits ES&S from bidding on new voting equipment system contracts using the Premier equipment. [transferred to Dominion]"

Wait, didn’t they say that the purpose was to increase the competition?
"The department also required that ES&S grant the divestiture buyer an opportunity to compete to provide services to Premier customers currently under contract with ES&S, giving customers the option to switch to the divestiture buyer or to remain with ES&S ... ES&S also must provide access to knowledgeable Premier employees and agree to offer a supply agreement to allow the divestiture buyer time to establish its own manufacturing of voting equipment systems."

The approved divestiture buyer, Dominion Voting, is not mentioned in this press release. But this quote shows that the DOJ has already determined the "approved buyer," and knew that it had no manufacturing base.

After the "Sale"
Dominion announced the acquisition of the Diebold products on May 19, 2010 [2] and the acquisition of Sequoia Voting assets on June 4, 2010 [3]. Dominion also hired much of its personnel, probably retaining ties to extremely sketchy Smartmatic. Sequoia/Smartmatic systems had been used in the Venezuela 2004 referendum, which Hugo Chavez "won". Smartmatic is a British company with Hugo Chavez ties, headed by "Lord" Malloch-Brown (former UN Deputy Secretary-General, UNDP, UNHCR, VP of Soros’ Quantum Fund, and Vice Chair of Soros’ Open Society Foundation) [7], and linked to electoral scandals all over the world [5].
In August 2009 (corrected), the rough breakdown of the EVS market in the US was (per Brad Friedman):

40% ES&S
30% Diebold/Premier
20% Sequoia/Smartmatic
10% Hart Intercivic
0% Dominion Voting

Less than a year later, after the "antitrust" actions of Obama’s DOJ, it became:

50% Dominion
40% ES&S (restricted in competing against Dominion)
10% Hart Intercivic

Thus, the DOJ’s actions did the exact opposite of its words. An elections system vendor should be non-partisan, in a demonstrable way. Dominion is not just partisan, but hyper-partisan in favor of the Democrat party, or even its pocket vendor.

Dominion has many more ties to the Democrat party and its prominent supporters in the US and abroad, which are not covered in this article.
Software Development in Serbia

Dominion develops much of its software in Belgrade, Serbia. Russia is a close friend to Serbia, if not its only one. If anybody sincerely thought that Putin wanted to hack American elections, their first location of interest would be the offices of Dominion Voting in Belgrade, rather than the Trump Tower in New York.

By the way, Serbian and Russian languages use the Cyrillic alphabet. Most letters have the same Unicode encoding in Serbian and Russian (the Basic Multilingual Plane, range 0410-04FF). If any election officials found Cyrillic text on a Dominion voting machine in 2016, it was probably left by its developers in Serbia.

Jimmy Kimmel's writer, Jacob Reed, directed an ad for the Kamala Harris campaign titled 'Men for Kamala.'
[X]

As many of you know, Jimmy Kimmel's writer, Jacob Reed, directed an ad for the Kamala Harris campaign titled 'Men for Kamala.' The ad features what are presented as everyday male voters explaining why supporting Kamala Harris is the masculine thing to do. However, none of the men in the ad are actually regular voters—they are paid actors.

Moreover, their real-life circumstances differ significantly from the individuals they portray in the ad. Here are their stories:

- Wayland McQueen is a far-left, pro-Antifa comedian and actor who has, until now, found limited success. He does improv gigs at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. In a Twitter post from 2022, he explains what white privilege is and tells you why you need to acknowledge your white privilege. As of 2024 he is single.

- Lanre Idewu is an immigrant from Nigeria. He is also an actor who works at the D.C.-based OCTET Productions. He has many intimate pictures with the Obamas and the Bidens. Idewu, who is bisexual, has done gay-for-pay movies and nude solo shoots. In the "Men for Kamala" ad, he says he is "man enough to f-ing braid his daughter’s hair," but the only problem is that he doesn’t have a daughter. Idewu isn’t braiding anyone’s hair.

- Mike Leffingwell, a gay man, also works at the Upright Citizens Brigade, where McQueen works. He is an acting coach, cartoon writer for Netflix and DreamWorks, and an actor in TV commercials. On his public Instagram page, he showcases his participation in his latest project—the "Men for Kamala" ad.

- Winston Carter, the heavyset fellow in the ad who claims to be a mechanic and rancher, lives in Los Angeles signed with Taft Broadcasting Company. He has found limited success in the acting world, mainly as an extra in films and as a character in the low-budget superhero film Spaghettiman.

- Tony Ketcham, the tough, rugged, bearded grandpa in his garage in the "Men for Kamala" ad, is also an actor. He now mainly does low-budget independent films like Car Botz, where he played the role of PePaw. Tony is unmarried in real life. In 2001, he played the extra role of "alcoholic consumer" in the movie Ghost World.

Massive cyber attack on Iran
[X] Things that make you go hmmm….

Update at 3:00 p.m.ET: Security Affairs explains:
Amid escalating Middle East tensions, Iran faced major cyberattacks Saturday, disrupting its government branches and targeting nuclear facilities. The massive cyberattack followed Israel’s pledged response to Iran’s October 1 missile barrage, as regional conflicts intensified in Gaza and Lebanon.

Abolhassan Firouzabadi, former secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council for Cyberspace, told local media Iran suffered a cyber attack. Firouzabadi also added that threat actors stole sensitive information from targeted infrastructure.

“Nearly all three branches of Iran’s government – the judiciary, the legislature, and the executive branch – have been hit by heavy cyberattacks, and their information was stolen,” said Firouzabadi, the former secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cyberspace, was quoted as saying by the Iran International. “Our nuclear facilities have also been targeted by cyberattacks, as well as networks like fuel distribution, municipal networks, transportation networks, ports, and similar sectors. These are just part of a long list of various areas across the country that have been attacked,” he added.

Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization banned pagers and walkie-talkies on flights following sabotage attacks in Lebanon involving these devices, which killed 39 Hezbollah members.

“Iran’s civil aviation has banned carrying pagers and walkie-talkies on all flights, the spokesman for the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran said. Jafar Yazerlo, cited by local media.” reported Agenzia Nova. “The decision was made more than three weeks after sabotage attacks against members of the Iranian-allied Lebanese armed group Hezbollah in Lebanon, which saw pagers and walkie-talkies explode, killing at least 39 people.”

#18  clearly the Saudis want a war with Iran and have managed to manipulate the US warmachine.

Otherwise why would Israel be targeting Iran instead of Qatar, looking for every reason and the kitchen sink for why they are to blame for Sunni Muslim Brotherhood violence.

it seems to me an extension of the old problem. Britain installed "Their Man" in Jordan/Iraq after World War 1 since they couldn't be in the empire game anymore and that was the Arab Muslim hashemites, with the Saudis also being "their Man in Arabia"

Iran was not "their man" and has allied with Russia/Syria axis. so therefore they must be fought

But for us the common people, Islam is at war with us and it was the Muslim Brotherhood that did October 7, not Iran. It's the Muslim Brotherhood that has infiltrated our societies to destroy them from within. The Iranian theocracy is itself a problem because Islam took over. But they haven't got the reach the Muslim Brotherhood has.

Al Jazeera broadcasts here. Muslim Brotherhood "Islamophobia" narrative is here. They are the ones - it's them!

This is like having Sunni Islamists from Saudi fly planes into buildings on 9/11 then blaming the secular Sadam in Iraq who crushed the Islamists.... and getting rid of him. And getting Islamic State.

#19  Anon1, the entire Al Qaeda Shura Council and about three quarters of Osama Bin Laden’s family moved to Iran immediately following 9/11. They were there sheltered by the government of Iran — and most are still there, still being sheltered by the Iranian government.

And it’s not Saudi Arabia that wants war with Iran — the Saudis simply don’t have the manpower to fight a serious war — but Iran causing problems. In 1987 Shiite pilgrims from Iran rioted during the hajj, causing a stampede that killed at least 400, half of them Iranians, following which Iranians attacked the Saudi and Kuwaiti embassies. Then starting in 2012 Iran instigated protests among Saudi Arabia’s Shiite population in the Eastern Province, leading to years of crackdowns.

Following that Iran instigated the Houthi uprising in Yemen, which quickly led to Houthi raids and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia’s strongest response was to block Iran from partaking in the Hajj for a few years.

sigh.... sigh ...Is BlackRock acquiring Albemarle shares to corner the Kings Mountain lithium mine?
[X]

… September 24 - Albemarle submitted State and Federal Permits for Kings Mountain, North Carolina lithium mining.

⚠️ September 24 - Albemarle received $250 million in grants from the departments of Defense and Energy to boost lithium production.

⚠️ September 27 - Hurricane Helene hits North Carolina with ravaging floods and total devastation.

⚠️ Local homeowners were protesting against the mining in North Carolina. Their homes and properties were destroyed.

⚠️ Chile is one of Albemarle's other prime mining locations.

Open Source: NC mines stir conspiracy theories

I’m Brian Gordon, tech reporter for The News & Observer, and this is Open Source, a weekly newsletter on business, labor and technology in North Carolina.

…In separate mine news, the government is not seizing private property in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, to build a lithium mine. Several people on social media have tied the ongoing permitting process for lithium mining in Kings Mountain (50 miles away) to a supposed land grab in storm-affected Chimney Rock, which local and state officials assure isn’t happening.
More from the Raleigh [NC] News & Observer:
Rumor: The government is seizing land in Chimney Rock to get the critical metal lithium.

Facts: The government is not seizing land in Chimney Rock to obtain lithium.

On Oct. 8, Republican U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards, who represents Western North Carolina, released a statement debunking several Hurricane Helene myths. His first fact-check focused on a prominent rumor about lithium and a small Rutherford County town that was devastated by the storm.

“Local officials have confirmed the government is NOT seizing Chimney Rock,” Edwards wrote. “There was no ‘special meeting’ held in Chimney Rock between federal, state or local governments about seizing the town.”

False news of lithium inspiring a government land grab spread in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene on X, Facebook, and TikTok. “Lithium, that’s why they’re doing it,” is how one person opens her TikTok video, which has since garnered 20,600 likes. Some of the posts referred to an Oct. 2 public meeting during which officials supposedly discussed seizing private property after rushing waters leveled most of Chimney Rock’s Main Street.

The next day, Rutherford County Emergency Management offered clarification on Facebook, stating, “These claims are entirely false.” The department said town officials had met with state, county, and federal leaders on Oct. 2 about coordinating support after Helene.

Lithium is not currently mined in North Carolina, but two companies want to start digging for it.

In 2015, a Charlotte-based resource company called Albemarle purchased a former lithium mine about 30 mile west of Charlotte in the small city of Kings Mountain. Albemarle currently operates the only active U.S. lithium mine, in Silver Peak, Nevada, but the dormant Kings Mountain mine could eclipse Silver Peak’s output by a factor of 10.

A different Charlotte-area lithium company, Piedmont Lithium, is lobbying to dig a brand new mine in Kings Mountain.

Lightweight with a high-voltage capacity, lithium is an ideal component in electric vehicle batteries. Lithium-ion batteries are also crucial to cell phones, laptops, cameras, toys, medical devices, and other electronics. In North Carolina, a series of forthcoming lithium projects has positioned the state as a key player in the emerging “EV battery belt” forming across the Southeast United States.

In late September, Albemarle submitted permits to the state and federal governments in its pursuit to restart the Kings Mountain mine (which is currently a 163-foot-deep lake). The company submitted these permits days before Helene passed over Western North Carolina, and some noted this chronology in posts about a Chimney Rock land grab.

More than 50 miles separate Chimney Rock and Kings Mountain.

As it tries to reopen the mine, Albemarle currently refines imported lithium at its Kings Mountain facility. In a statement to The News & Observer on Wednesday, the company said this plant “did sustain a period of power loss from Hurricane Helene; however the site facilities were not otherwise impacted.”

The site has since resumed normal operations, the company said.

#4  I'm no fan of Blackrock but other than that I'm not sure I see the problem here. Is mining lithium any worse than mining uranium or even coal for that matter? Is it worse than drilling oil wells? Should we let the Chinese corner the market on lithium and use slaves to mine it? I dunno.

15:34 Kursk direction: advance of Russian troops

In the Glushkovsky district near Vesyoloye, the Russian Armed Forces were able to push the enemy back to the railroad and approach the outskirts of the New Way. In addition, it was possible to clarify the situation in Medvezhye: Russian troops not only liberated the village, but also drove the enemy out of the adjacent forest belts.

Thus, units of the 137th Airborne Division, 56th Airborne Assault Regiment, 51st Airborne Division, 155th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade, 83rd Separate Airborne Assault Brigade and 1434th "Akhmat-Chechnya" Regiment have almost completely driven out Ukrainian formations from the Glushkovsky district.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces remain present only in the ravine south of Krasnooktyabrsky and in Novy Put, as well as a small triangle with forest belts south of the railway.

In the Korenevsky district, the Russian Armed Forces were also able to make significant progress in the vicinity of Lyubimovka — Zeleny Shlyakh, the villages of Pokrovsky and Nizhny Klin came under control. At the same time, counter-battles are still taking place in Lyubimovka, the enemy is "clinging" to the settlement, finding itself in semi-encirclement on the outskirts and in the village of Tolsty Lug.

In the Sudzhansky district, fighting also continues and the Russian Armed Forces are advancing.

Russian troops are advancing from the Ulanok side through the swampy forests near the Psel River and have now “half-captured” Plekhovo, disrupting the supply of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, bypassing it from the south and north.

In the north, a large forest has come under the control of the Russian Armed Forces; according to preliminary information, the 38N-515 highway in the Plekhovo-Mahnovka section has already been cut off. To the south, Russian troops have taken several strongholds.

Further north, in the area of Russkaya Konopelka, fighting continues: neither side has complete control over the settlement, but the initiative here belongs to the Russian paratroopers.

To the south, the Russian Armed Forces are advancing along the railway towards Kolmakov and Agronom, taking control of the 66th kilometer stopping point.

To the southwest of the railway there is also an advance of the Russian Armed Forces. The enemy has been driven out of several forest belts to the east of the gas station, for which fighting is underway.

15:11 Problems with logistics and confusion are being noted in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kursk region, the security forces reported.

“According to data received from radio broadcasts, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are currently in disarray in the Kursk border area; there are major problems with logistics,” the representative of the security forces specified.

15:09 Frontovaya Ptichka reported on the active advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsky direction:

"Our motorized riflemen are actively developing an offensive in two directions. After the liberation of Krasny Yar, Sukhoi Yar and Luch are next in line. The T-72B3 and T-80BVM tanks are already fueled. The BMDs are ready. We are moving out!"

14:49 The liberation of the village of Ostrovskoye in the DPR opens a direct route for Russian troops to Kurakhovo, which it borders, security forces reported.

14:22 An explosion occurred in the city of Sumy in northern Ukraine, the Ukrainian publication "Public. News" reported.

14:12 The advanced units of the Russian Armed Forces have advanced and are fighting in Zeleny Shlyakh, Novonikolayevka and Lyubimovka.

14:52 The Ukrainian Armed Forces leave Ostrovskoe and go to Kurakhovo, the Russian army is approaching the city.

13:35 Summary of the Russian Ministry of Defense on the progress of the special military operation (for the period from October 5 to 11, 2024):

From October 5 to 11, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation carried out 38 group strikes with high-precision weapons, including hypersonic aeroballistic missiles "Kinzhal", as well as strike unmanned aerial vehicles. As a result of the strikes, oil and gas and energy facilities that ensured the operation of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine, as well as the infrastructure of military airfields, were damaged.

In addition, workshops for the production and storage of unmanned boats and UAVs, fuel depots, ammunition depots and military-technical equipment, as well as temporary deployment points for units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, nationalist groups and foreign mercenaries were hit.

During the week, units of the North group of forces continued the operation to destroy Ukrainian Armed Forces formations in the Kursk region, during which they liberated the settlements of Novaya Sorochina and Pokrovsky. Air strikes, unmanned aerial vehicles and artillery fire defeated units of six mechanized, a tank, three airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a naval infantry brigade, four territorial defense brigades and a national guard brigade. In the Volchansk and Liptsov directions, units of the motorized infantry, ranger, airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, two territorial defense brigades and a national guard brigade were defeated.

During the week, units of the "West" group of forces continued to advance into the depths of the enemy's defense and took more advantageous positions. They defeated formations of two tank, six mechanized, assault brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two territorial defense brigades and two national guard brigades. A total of 23 counterattacks of assault groups of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were repelled.

As a result of decisive actions by units of the "Southern" group of troops, the settlements of Zhelannoye Vtoroy and Ostrovskoe of the Donetsk People's Republic were liberated. The manpower and equipment of five mechanized, motorized infantry, two infantry, assault, mountain assault, airborne assault, two airmobile brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a territorial defense brigade and two national guard brigades were defeated.

The active actions of the units of the "Center" group of forces liberated the settlement of Grodovka in the Donetsk People's Republic. The formations of the tank, seven mechanized, motorized infantry, two infantry, ranger, airborne brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, two brigades of naval infantry, three territorial defense brigades and three brigades of the National Guard were defeated. A total of 58 counterattacks of the enemy assault groups were repelled.

As a result of coordinated actions by units of the "East" military group, the settlement of Zolotaya Niva in the Donetsk People's Republic was liberated.

The manpower and equipment of two mechanized and motorized infantry brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, four territorial defense brigades and a national guard brigade were defeated. A total of 10 counterattacks of assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were repelled.

Units of the Dnepr group of forces inflicted losses on formations of two mechanized, infantry, mountain assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, a naval infantry brigade and four territorial defense brigades.

Over the course of a week, 43 Ukrainian servicemen surrendered on the contact line.

Over the course of a week, air defense systems shot down three US-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, three French-made Hammer guided air bombs, a guided missile from the S-200 anti-aircraft missile system converted for firing at ground targets, 33 US-made HIMARS rockets, and 603 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles
.
13:17 Russian troops control more than half of Toretsk, said local Gauleiter Vasily Chinchik.

"Approximately 40-50% of the city, one could say, is under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The rest of the territory is under the control of the Russian Armed Forces," he said.

Earlier it was reported that Russian troops had advanced into the central part of Toretsk. Fierce fighting in the city continues.

12:35 Strikes were carried out on enemy targets in Kremenchuk

12:24 In Tolstoy Lug, Kursk region, a mop up operation against the Ukrainian Armed Forces has begun.

12:12 As a result of active actions by units of the "Southern" group of troops of the Russian Armed Forces, the settlement of Ostrovskoye in the DPR was liberated, reported military correspondent Rudenko.

11:07 Russian troops have come close to the city of Kurakhovo from the eastern side, the security forces reported. Active work is underway to the northeast of Kurakhovo, from where the city is just over one kilometer away.

10:52 In the morning, the enemy admits that up to 60% of Dzerzhinsk has already been liberated by Russian troops. Over the past week, serious progress has been made in liberating this important city. With the liberation of Dzerzhinsk and the clearing of the adjacent territories, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' ability to shell heroic Gorlovka will be significantly reduced.

10:28 After the liberation of Lyubimovka in the Kursk region, Russian troops began assault operations in Novoivanovka. This potentially opens the way to Malaya Loknya and the further "cutting off of a whole piece" of the territory occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the north.

10:18 In the western Ukraine in the city of Starokostiantyniv, strikes are again being carried out on enemy targets

09:47 The situation in Chasovy Yar is moving towards taking the defending garrison of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into operational encirclement, said the chief of the operational headquarters of the Melodiya intelligence center of the 88th volunteer brigade "Espanola" with the call sign "Chukcha".

In particular, “heavy fighting is underway for the Oktyabrsky microdistrict, and tasks are being resolved to cut off the routes for delivering ammunition and provisions to the city.”

09:04 Russian military personnel have driven out Ukrainian Armed Forces units from their positions in the Myasozharovka area and, having advanced 1.5 km, have reached the administrative border of the LPR, military expert Andrei Marochko reported.

08:52 Ka-52m crew storn off rotation of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the border area of ??the Kursk region.

08:11 The Ukrainian Armed Forces acknowledge the general deterioration of the situation in the western part of the Kursk salient. It is reported that the Russian Armed Forces have made serious advances in the area of Lyubimovka and Novoivanovka, with significant losses and disruption of defense communications. They are trying to transfer reserves to problem areas via Sudzha.

08:07 Starlink satellite antennas destroyed on the right bank of the Dnieper.

Unmanned aerial vehicle operators detect and destroy communication antennas and repeaters to prevent the enemy from controlling their FPV drones. During another flight over the right bank of the Dnieper, a UAV operator discovered camouflaged Starlink satellite antennas. A decision was made to destroy them with a kamikaze drone strike.

08:00 More trophies took away scouts of the "Center" troop group in the Avdeevka direction.

During the assault on one of the forest belts on the approaches to the settlement of Grodovka in the DPR, servicemen of the reconnaissance unit destroyed a mortar battery of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and took two Ukrainian 82mm mortars KBA-48M1 as trophies, after which they struck the retreating enemy forces with them.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Hezbollah appoints new leadership to fight war, report, terror group denies
[Ynet] Just 72 hours after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah a new command was constructed to run the war, sources said adding Hezbollah forces fighting IDF in the South take orders from new commanders, precision missiles kept for later use against Israel

Hezbollah appointed a new military command in preparation for a long war of attrition in South Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
72 hours after Israel wiped out its top leadership, Rooters reported on Friday citing two sources familiar with its operations. Hezbollah denied the report.
”Ain’t nobody here but us chickens.”
According to the report, the Iran-backed group still has a considerable stockpile of weapons, including its most powerful precision missiles which it has yet to use, four sources familiar with its operations said, despite waves of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s that Israel says has severely depleted its arsenal.

The new command center has kept functioning despite subsequent Israeli attacks, meaning fighters in the south were able to fire rockets and fight according to centrally issued orders, according to the sources, who asked not to be named in order to discuss sensitive matters. A third source, a bigwig close to Hezbollah, said the group was now waging a war of attrition.

Another source familiar with Hezbollah's operations said the group's dedicated, fixed-line phone network was "essential" to current communications. Sources have said the network survived attacks on the group's communications in September.

Hezbollah possesses an extensive tunnel network in southern Lebanon, constructed for the fighting force against Israeli troops and is estimated to be hundreds of kilometers long.

The Hezbollah field commander told the news agency that the tunnels "are the foundation of the battle". Hezbollah had toiled for years to build them, he added. "Their time has come," he said adding that the tunnels found and destroyed by the IDF were built for the Radwan special forces units to one day enter the Galilee region of northern Israel. The source said Israel did not know the full extent of the tunnels.

Hezbollah says it has stepped up fire in recent days but some Israelis wonder why they launch hundreds and not thousands of rockets and missiles at Israel including their arsenal of power precision missiles. Israeli officials said it indicates the Iran-backed group's difficulty after the devastating blows inflicted on it.

Prior to the latest conflict, the World Factbook of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency
…one of my regular sources for statistics, though it relies too heavily on numbers reported by untrustworthy governments, like Hamas in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, and because it is the CIA I expect it to be politicized…
said Hezbollah possessed upwards of 150,000 missiles and rockets.
Elsewhere we’ve seen 200,000 claimed, though of course all such numbers are estimates unless like Mossad one has been listening to Hezbollah emirs reporting to one another for the past two decades or so…
The two sources said Hezbollah had chosen not to use its most potent rockets - including precision-guided missiles - to keep something in reserve for a long war and to avoid giving Israel a pretext to widen its strikes to Lebanese infrastructure, such as Beirut airport, roads and bridges.
A wise choice. Probably not what their masters in Tehran would have preferred, but Tehran is as yet far from falling Israeli airstrikes.
The third source said the group had not targeted Israel's cities, such as Tel Aviv, with its most powerful weapons because such a move would give Israel a reason to hit Lebanon even harder.
More wisdom. Where was that wisdom when they decided to start — and then keep on — shooting missiles at Israel?
Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar visited the troops operating in South Lebanon on Thursday. "We are fighting not just to bring security to the north now but also with a look toward the future," Halevi said. "If someone tries to rebuild these villages, he may consider it wrong to build terror infrastructure that would only be destroyed by the IDF."

Bar said Israel cannot defend its citizens by building shelters and must fight where the turbans are. "In a peaceful border, you guard your side of the frontier. Where there is war, you operate on both sides," he said. "We've observed Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
entrenching in Lebanon and they will grow in number when turbans leave Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
. We will keep hunting them wherever they are," he said.

Ukrainian Perspective: Operation in Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] Military operations in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation
The first news about the alleged offensive of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation appeared on Tuesday, August 6. Zelensky officially confirmed the operation only a week later.

On August 6, 2024, the Kursk region authorities stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly tried to break through to the region's territory, but the FSB Border Service and the Russian Armed Forces did not allow this. However, on that day, Z-publics wrote that Ukrainian tanks had entered the Kursk region. The breakthrough was soon acknowledged by the Russian authorities. According to some reports, Ukraine captured more territory in less than 48 hours than during the entire summer counteroffensive of 2023. According to Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels, dozens of Russians were taken prisoner. The West made it clear that it is not against such a Ukrainian operation. Korrespondent.net is following the events online.

18:22 In the village of Tetkino in the Kursk region, Ukrainian FPV drones destroyed enemy communications equipment, a vehicle and a building with personnel of the Russian army, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense reported and showed a video:

09:04 Russia has transferred about 50,000 of its troops to the Kursk region, weakening its positions in other areas of the front in Ukraine, where the Russians were conducting offensive operations, said Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky. He specified that such actions by the enemy led to the weakening of its groups, in particular, in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions and in the Kramatorsk direction. "This, of course, made it easier for us to conduct a defensive operation," Syrsky added.

00:50 Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState reports that the Russian army has "pushed through" the left flank of the Kursk group of Defense Forces. According to analysts, the enemy has recently pulled together a large amount of equipment and manpower and is now trying to gain a foothold in the area of the settlements of Novoivanovka and Zeleny Shlyakh. "An extremely unreliable tactical situation has formed for adjacent units to the north," the analysts add.

October 10
05:02 Ukraine is capable of holding territory in the Kursk region for at least several months or even longer, Bloomberg writes, citing American officials. They note that Ukraine has not yet encountered serious problems in supplying supplies to the Kursk area, "as Russian forces have launched only limited counterattacks and focused on the offensive in eastern Ukraine." In addition, American officials noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces, thanks to the efforts of their allies, now have a more stable supply of artillery ammunition

Yeah, so that's why Ukrainians abandoned Ugledar? Do they really believe Putin doesn't have reserves for such contingencies? Sometimes I try but this is why I have trouble reading the Ukrainian perspectives.

Only a few years ago the Ukrainians who believed themselves Aryan hung out with Russians who believed themselves to be the Ur-whites of white supremacy… and half of them admired Israel for standing up to the Moslem world (the other half thought Jews cosmopolitan and icky, which goes to show) There’s no difference as far as I can tell.

They’re equally vicious and stupid. The details by which they differentiate themselves from each other are completely unimportant, as far as I can see, just like I don’t care about the differences between Leninists, Trotskyists, and Stalinists. 'I won't shoot at Russians.' Ukraine talks about the collapse of the front
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Denis Davydov

[REGNUM] After the surrender of Ugledar
…aka Vuhledar in Ukrainian…
and the exposed suffering of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade, which seemed to give an underground shock, a powerful wave of "betrayal" swept through Ukraine, the peak of which was the adoption of the law "on the legalization of desertion." This expression belongs to the well-known people's deputy Maryana Bezuglya, who, incidentally, voted for it herself - in order to then loudly criticize it.

The fact is that the problems with maintaining discipline in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, motivating servicemen and, as a result, mass desertion have become so large-scale that they can no longer be ignored. But punishing for “unauthorized abandonment of the unit,” especially using the criminal article on desertion, means to completely ruin everything.

Here is a fresh example, also connected with Ugledar: fighters of the 123rd Troops brigade refused to carry out a combat mission in Donbass and voluntarily left the military unit. After that, the commander of one of the battalions, Igor Grib, shot himself. After all, it was this brigade that was supposed to take up positions further behind the abandoned city. But since this did not happen, the "black Zaporozhians" exhausted in the battles for the city were sent there, which caused an uproar.

The fugitives returned home to Voznesensk in the Nikolaev region and held a rally to speak out about their lack of training and weapons to participate in military operations. Now they are facing criminal liability - but only because they are available. Most simply "disappear."

It is precisely these people that Bill No. 11 322, adopted on October 8 in the first reading, speaks about. It eases the responsibility for the first unauthorized absence if the serviceman returns to service on his own. The contract is immediately automatically extended, payments and the issuance of due allowances are resumed, benefits and guarantees are included. If a criminal case has already been initiated on the fact of absence, then there is nothing to worry about.

This humanism is surprising for Ukraine, but it can be explained by the catastrophic (and this is again not our definition) situation at the front.

IA Regnum has already cited an interesting episode, again from the Ugledar history, when out of 50 elderly “recruits” sent to strengthen the city’s defense, only four made it to their positions, but they also deserted during the first rotation.

"30 of them were immediately sent to rear units and hospitals, since their health was unfit for service on the front lines (because the TCC was fulfilling the conscription plan and mobilizing the sick). Of the remaining 20, 16 servicemen deserted on the second day. Thus, four were sent to the positions out of 50 people, and after the first rotation, these four also deserted," said journalist Vladimir Boyko, a serviceman in one of the Troops brigades,in the worldly world - a well-known whistleblower and troublemaker.

But, besides him, the problem with soldiers who have no desire to die for Zelensky's regime is being trumpeted from literally every iron. Former MP Yegor Firsov, who serves in the Ukrainian army, recently shocked viewers of the "unified telethon" by telling how a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declared that he would not shoot at Russians because it was a fratricidal war. And he did it in Russian.

And the reason for all this, Firsov (who, by the way, is a Russian speaker in everyday life) muses, is forced mobilization, which does not take into account the mood of those who are sent to the army. "The TCC runs after a man, pushes him into a minibus, does not give him the opportunity to call his relatives, finish his business, after a month of training he immediately found himself in a trench - there can be different moods," the MP emphasized.

Meanwhile, enemy voices from CNN are also reporting that the Ukrainian army is suffering from low morale and “socks,” which is especially felt in infantry units “in the east of the country.”

Six Ukrainian officers who are currently fighting or who have recently left their units confirmed that desertion and insubordination are becoming increasingly common among newly mobilized soldiers. Officer Dima left his position after losses in his unit because he could no longer watch his men die (more than half of the 800 men were killed or seriously wounded).

At the same time, many mobilized soldiers refuse to return to their positions after the first rotation.

"Not all mobilized soldiers leave their positions, but most do. When new guys come here, they see how difficult it is here. They see a lot of enemy drones, artillery and mortars. They go to their positions once and, if they survive, they never come back. They either leave their positions, or refuse to go into battle, or try to find a way to leave the army," one of the Ukrainian commanders fighting in the Pokrovsk area told CNN.

According to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in the first four months of 2024 alone, almost 19,000 criminal cases were opened against soldiers who abandoned their posts or deserted. However, their real number is much higher, since commanders try to resolve these issues informally, convincing soldiers to return to service without punishment.

"It will only get worse. Until March 2024, it was still possible to fix the situation, but today the collapse of the army has reached such a scale that no measures will help - there are simply no people at the front. There are none and there will not be. Since the "busified" soldiers are not going to die for the rotten corrupt regime, and the means of coercion - that is, military justice - were liquidated by the 95th quarter back in 2019," writes Boyko, according to whom there are already 170 thousand deserters in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

And there will be even more, since along with the decriminalization of desertion, the Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence of the Verkhovna Rada approved a bill on amendments to Article 24 of the Law of Ukraine "On Military Duty and Military Service", according to which deserters "will forever remain on the lists of the unit". At the same time, a member of the committee, People's Deputy Fedir Venislavsky announced that the facts of leaving the place of service will not be entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.

So the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen can now lay down their arms and leave the frontline home with impunity. And they are happy to take advantage of this.

"For example, in my military unit alone, in August-September 2024, after amendments were made to the Criminal Code of Ukraine, half of the servicemen deserted from the number who voluntarily left service over the previous 2.5 years. And their number is growing every week. Because why serve if you can not serve and nothing will happen for it?" Boyko reasons.

But on paper, military units will remain staffed - after all, commanders will not be able to cross out a deserter and take another person in his place. And fugitive soldiers are not eager to return to the trenches.

The publication "Strana" quotes people involved in illegal border crossings, they say that previously deserters were rare among clients. However, since about May, one or more servicemen were in almost every group. And in Romania, no one checks this, unless you admit it yourself.

One of these "skiers" is 42-year-old Sergey, with whom Ukrainian journalists spoke. Mobilized in 2023, after his second injury he went to the Special Operations Department, "sat out for some time with relatives in a village near Vinnytsia, then found a "corridor" to Romania." He explains his actions simply: everyone around him is dying, becoming crippled, and at the same time it is completely unclear how it will all end and when. "And life goes by..."

Everyone understands that in Ukraine, given the current situation, there is no future.

Even the authoritative The Economist writes without embarrassment: "There is no clear way out of the army once they have joined it, which makes mobilization seem like a one-way ticket to the morgue." What can we say about people who were broken into pieces on the street and forced to fight. They have been fleeing at the first opportunity since the "counteroffensive", when it suddenly turned out that all the bravado and hope for Western help turned into terrible losses and no results.

Former MP Igor Mosiychuk, who embodied the incredible type of "peace-loving Banderite" and branded the government from a safe foreign country, tells a chilling story in his Telegram channel. The 129th separate Krivoy Rog brigade of the Troops of Russia sent recently mobilized men. Without documents, even without a military ID - they said that they would send more after they were processed, apparently there was no time.

"Do you understand what will happen next? They will die, and no one will even know who they are and what they are. Can you imagine the cynicism of the bastards who have pinned on general's shoulder straps, who are awarded by the president, and who dispose of Ukrainians? And the most important thing in this situation is the following: desertion is causing the collapse of the front. But if it becomes a mass phenomenon, if such rallies as in Voznesensk are constantly happening, then you understand that this is a complete collapse, catastrophic, and a threat to our statehood," groans Mosiychuk, who is now for peace and negotiations with Russia.

Although, in fact, he is a former deputy commander of the Azov* battalion (at the dawn of its existence), who brought the Berdyansk traffic cops to their knees, threatened Crimea with "friendship trains" on behalf of the Right Sector* and joyfully welcomed May 2 in Odessa. Caught taking a bribe, he brands the "greens" for their "sad, criminal scheme", predicting the collapse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

People like Mosiychuk paint the situation in dark colors, predicting the collapse of the front and tens of thousands more deserters. And although they, of course, exaggerate everything somewhat, the problems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are really big. In order to cover the personnel deficit, it is necessary to mobilize 20-year-olds, which is currently prohibited. But this is what is periodically loudly discussed - including by foreign comrades who give money for the war.

As a temporary measure, commanders of some particularly trusted military units will be given the right to staff combat units with volunteers, bypassing the TCC. But, as experienced people predict, this list will certainly include “blatnye battalions” that will recruit “ukhilyanty” for money and share with the General Staff, which forms the list.

So now the Ukrainian leadership with its menacing mood of "not giving up an inch to the enemy" faces a difficult choice. To start mobilizing student youth - to get hysteria, chaos and flight across the border with double force. Not to start - in a few months there will really be no one to fight, "busification" has exhausted itself, and deserters who have smelled death will definitely not be lured back.

"Western partners" can continue to allocate money, provide weapons and strengthen sanctions against Russia. But there is one weak link in this scheme: there is no one to replace Ukrainians as manpower. And if so, a turning point in the war will inevitably come, despite all the wishes of Zelensky and his company.

'Cheaper to Kill.' Mexican Security Takes It Literally
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

To be fair to Sra Sheinbaum, her selection for head of the Mexican Army (SEDENA) doesn't take place until a week after inauguration.

by Olga Kuznetsova

[REGNUM] The newly elected President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assumed the relevant powers in early October, but was immediately forced to immerse herself in local realities. As you might guess, connected with crime.

As it turned out, on the day of Sheinbaum’s inauguration, an extremely unpleasant incident for any pro-government political strategist occurred on the southern borders of Mexico.

Thirty-three migrants piled into a pickup truck and tried to sneak across the Mexican border from Guatemala. Along the way, they encountered a squad of Mexican soldiers, tried to play Fast and Furious and ride off into the sunset, but failed.
*Happy sigh* What gorgeous writing! The circumstance is sad, but the writing needs to be celebrated.
The soldiers opened fire and as a result, sixteen migrants went to a completely different place than they had planned: six to the next world, and ten to the hospital. The rest, apparently, are also in a state far from normal.
I am green with envy right now. Green! (It would be blue if we were speaking German, but we aren’t.)
And everything would be fine, because in these latitudes it is not customary to count and pity migrants, but not this time. All the dead were not just foreigners, but residents of a completely different hemisphere: immigrants from Egypt, Nepal, India, Pakistan. There were, of course, also Cubans, but they were not the ones at the center of the scandal.

The killing of several foreigners, mostly Egyptians, by government forces on the day of the new leader's inauguration was not the narrative with which Sheinbaum assumed the powers of the presidency.

CONDEMNED EVERYTHING
The story predictably led to an international scandal, although it was a completely manageable scandal.

No one really listened to the babble of the soldiers who claimed that they opened fire in response to the “sounds of explosions” coming from the pickups; everyone was suspended from duty, some were placed under arrest, and an investigation was opened.

Sheinbaum personally condemned the incident and demanded that those responsible be severely punished. The hospital where the wounded illegals were taken was placed under heavy guard, and psychologists and consuls were brought in for a "careful interrogation."

The Egyptian embassy and the government of Guatemala, where the migrants arrived from other Latin American countries to subsequently cross the Mexican border with the aim of storming the US border, were involved in the investigation.

Even the Peruvian authorities, from whose territory some of the victims flew to Guatemala, allowed themselves to express their “fie” on the occasion.

Many social and opposition activists, as well as Mexican Catholic bishops, expressed their indignation.

The latter called the shooting of migrants a “disproportionate use of lethal force” and added that it did not arise as an isolated event, but as a result of the militarization of migration policy and the strengthening of the military presence on the southern borders.

RECIPES FOR FIGHTING
There was no direct criticism of the new Mexican president's team in the Western media, but some indicated that the country is under significant political pressure from the United States and is forced to take measures to limit migration flows through its territory.

This was discussed most actively during the presidency of Donald Trump, who at one time insulted the top officials of Mexico City in every possible way, demanded that American troops be deployed in the border area, a wall be built, and all migrants be sent far away.

However, these initiatives never came to fruition. An unfinished wall, on which hundreds of thousands of dollars were laundered, does not count.

However, an agreement was reached under which Mexico would send some of its own armed forces to ensure security on the border with Guatemala. To put it simply, the Mexican authorities forced the migrants to be driven away at the very beginning of their route. And how exactly they would be “driven” was left to the discretion of those who carried them out.

Those who periodically follow the news reports on what is happening on the US-Mexican border, or simply watched the TV series “Breaking Bad”, understand that most often illegal immigrants are simply killed and buried in a kind of “mass graves” somewhere in the desert.

This is not officially advertised and is most often done by the hands of ubiquitous cartels, whose activities have long gone beyond the smuggling of prohibited substances.

Some suggest putting illegals in prison, but there is a nuance: many of them are minors, pregnant, or otherwise do not fit into the Mexican reality with its overcrowded prisons.

The saying “it’s cheaper to kill than to feed” seems to be taken literally in the context of the fight against illegal migration in the Western Hemisphere.

Deportation is not that simple either. Migrants from Venezuela and Cuba (who are the most numerous) or from other countries under American sanctions are very difficult to return home, and in some cases simply impossible. And in the end, it is still necessary to allocate money for their humanitarian support, and from one's own budget.

It is also proposed to create an NGO through which funds would be channeled to help refugees. Some of them will certainly end up in the pockets of expensive jackets, but that is a slightly different story.

Murders and mysterious disappearances in the American borderlands are often written about, but not very actively investigated. The case is complicated by different jurisdictions and the fear of being targeted by various activists who will not be of much use to migrants, but will ruin the reputation of local officials and security forces.

So the situation is limited to major scandals once every few years or cases of abuse of power during arrests a couple of times a year.

The situation on the border with Guatemala is special.

The migrants there are much more aggressive, and they can break through the border crossing in droves. And there are no American officials, whose presence sometimes really does ennoble the events a little, precisely "on the ground". And these territories rarely come to the attention of human rights activists.

In essence, it is a free rein for all sorts of lawlessness. The morals of the Mexican patrol officers are also not sweet, and the entire surrounding environment is not conducive to softening them.

Of course, there are secret paths through which people are led who have paid the cartel, the military and other "guides" in advance. And sometimes, as a deterrent, those who try to bypass the local "system" are punished.

The shooting of a pickup truck full of illegals fits into something similar. Another question is that in normal times they would have turned a blind eye to what happened, but not on the day of the inauguration and general celebration.

CENTRALIZATION AND CONTROL
Naturally, the Mexican opposition media savored the situation in every possible way. Immediately, information began to appear about how the police and the army were kidnapping and executing people all over the country, mainly in such problematic states as Sinaloa and Colima.

Commentators criticized the ruling party officials, but in the end, Sheinbaum, although she was unable to turn the situation completely to her advantage, did strengthen her team.

The murder of the migrants occurred not only on the day of the inauguration, but also at a time when the new head of the Mexican state traditionally presents his own strategy for security and the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.

Claudia Sheinbaum's strategy consists of strengthening centralized control over law enforcement agencies (the prosecutor's office, the police, and the army) and deepening international cooperation (mainly the US Drug Enforcement Administration).

It is expected that uniform standards will be introduced that prosecutors, police officers and military personnel will have to meet, as well as additional control over the leadership of the security forces of individual states, who are traditionally elected by governors.

In theory, this should limit abuses at the local level. In fact, such an approach may indeed strengthen the central government, but will it help deal with abuses and crime? The question is still open.

At the same time as the news of the crimes committed by the security forces, news came of the murder of the mayor of the municipality of Chilpancingo in the state of Guerrero, who had been in office for only six days. The severed head of Alejandro Arcos was simply left on the roof of his own car near his home.

And in the state of Sinaloa, a war has been going on between factions of the cartel of the same name since July.

Against this background, the introduction of a new security strategy – one that is tougher on potential enemies, of which any person in power has more and more each year – will be perceived, if not positively, then at least with understanding.

But whether this will actually help turn the tide against crime in Mexico is something that few people really care about.
Indeed, such deep cynicism is justified. But the writing — the writing was worth every moment spent getting to the bottom of the article.

US slaps sanctions on Iran’s ‘ghost fleet’ of oil tankers, citing attacks on Israel
[IsraelTimes] The United States hits Iran’s oil and petrochemicals sectors with new sanctions in response to Tehran’s October 1 attack against Israel, designating dozens of new companies and firms.

The Treasury Department says it is going after Iran’s so-called "shadow fleet" of ships involved in selling Iranian oil in circumvention of existing sanctions, designating 10 companies and 17 vessels as "blocked property" over their involvement in shipments of Iranian petroleum and petrochemical products.

The State Department also announces it is slapping sanctions on six other firms and six ships for "knowingly engaging in a significant transaction for the purchase, acquisition, sale, transport, or marketing of petroleum or petroleum products from Iran."

"Today’s sanctions target Iranian efforts to channel revenues from its energy industry to finance deadly and disruptive activity — including development of its nuclear program, the proliferation of ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles," Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says in a statement.

The sanctions form part of the US response to Iran’s attack, in which it launched some 200 ballistic missiles against Israel in retaliation for the killing of Tehran-backed terrorist leaders and a general from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.

Israel has said its response to Iran’s second direct attack against its territory this year will be "deadly, precise, and surprising."

US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. The man who made Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter look competent, if only by comparison....
told news hounds last week that Israel should consider "other alternatives than striking oil fields," amid reports it was planning to do so.

His national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, says the sanctions are being announced after the president consulted with America’s allies and partners.

"These measures will help further deny Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
financial resources used to support its missile programs and provide support for terrorist groups that threaten the United States, its allies, and partners," Sullivan says in a statement.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken
...71st United States secretary of state and a leading light of the corrupt and inept Biden administration. He previously served as deputy national security advisor from 2013 to 2015 and deputy secretary of state from 2015 to 2017 under the corrupt and inept Obama administration. He advocated for the 2003 invasion of Iraq while serving as the Democratic staff director of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee from 2002 to 2008. He was a foreign policy advisor for the Biden 2008 presidential campaign. Fifth Column
Chicago man charged with assaulting police at anti-Netanyahu protests in Washington
[IsraelTimes] Zachary Allen Kam, 24, is at least third person charged with crimes over July 24 protest as PM addressed US Congress; Kam said to have scraped, bruised officer

An Illinois man was arrested Thursday on charges that he attacked two coppers during protests in Washington, DC against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to the US Congress in July.

Zachary Allen Kam, 24, of reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
, was arrested in Illinois on assault charges and was expected to make his initial court appearance later Thursday.

Kam is at least the third person charged with crimes related to a July 24 demonstration at Columbus Circle, in front of Washington’s Union Station.

The protest featured antisemitic and pro-Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
slogans and signs, the vandalism of property, the torching of an effigy of Netanyahu, and the burning of an American flag.

US Park Police officers were arresting somebody who pulled down a flagpole in Columbus Circle when Kam approached one of the officers, pulled him down and dragged him several feet, leaving the officer with scrapes and bruises, according to a police affidavit.

After disappearing into the crowd, Kam returned seconds later, grabbed another officer and pulled that officer to the ground, the affidavit says. Police initially arrested Kam approximately four hours later, near John Marshall Park.

"Assaulting a federal officer during the course of a protest is not constitutionally protected speech, it is a federal crime," Mathew Graves, US Attorney for the District of Columbia, said in a statement.

Protesters had a permit to demonstrate in front of Union Station, but the US Park Police said it revoked the permit after it couldn’t reach protest organizers that afternoon. The National Park Service estimated it cost more than $11,000 to clean up and fix damage at the site.

Zaid Mohammed Mahdawi, 26, of Richmond, Virginia, was arrested last Friday on a charge that he spray-painted "Hamas is coming" graffiti on a monument during the same protest near Union Station. Isabella Giordano, 20, of Towson, Maryland, was arrested last month and charged with spray-painting "Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.

Africa Horn
Somalia says it welcomes Egypt’s offer to deploy peacekeepers there
[ShaelleMedia] Somalia says Egypt has offered to deploy peacekeeping troops to the Horn of Africa nation in a security partnership that is emerging as the mandate of a long-time group of African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
peacekeepers winds down.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi on Thursday attended a summit in the Eritrea
...is run by the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), with about the amounts of democracy and justice you'd expect from a party with that name. National elections have been periodically scheduled and cancelled; none have ever been held in the country. The president, Isaias Afewerki, has been in office since independence in 1993 and will probably die there of old age...
n capital, Asmara, where he and the leaders of Somalia and Eritrea pledged strong cooperation in regional security.

Somali authorities said in a statement at the end of the summit that they welcomed Egypt’s offer to deploy troops in Somalia as part of a stabilization force when the present African Union force disbands in December.

The statement said the leaders welcomed the African Union Peace and Security Council’s decision to launch the African Union Mission to Support Stabilization in Somalia, or AUSSOM, under whose mandate the Egyptians or others would be deployed.

A separate statement following the summit signed by representatives of Somalia, Egypt and Eritrea asserted Somalia’s sovereign right to determine the composition, tasks and deployment timeline for the AUSSOM troops.

Somalia’s federal government has been supported by an African Union peacekeeping mission since 2007 in fighting the Islamic Death Eater group al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
, which has ties with al-Qaeda and is responsible for deadly attacks in the country.

The summit in Asmara followed a period of tensions in the region stemming from disputes pitting Æthiopia against others.

The first dispute — between Æthiopia and Egypt — is over Æthiopia’s construction of a $4 billion dam on the Blue Nile, a key tributary of the Nile River. Egypt fears it will have a devastating effect on water and irrigation supplies downstream in Egypt unless Æthiopia takes its needs into account. Æthiopia plans to use the dam to generate badly needed electricity.

The second dispute — between Æthiopia and Somalia — is over Somalia’s breakaway region of Somaliland
...Republic of Somaliland is an unrecognised sovereign state in the Horn of Africa, recognised internationally as a de jure part of Somalia. It is located in the southern coast of the Gulf of Aden with approximately 5.7 million residents as of 2021. The capital and largest city is Hargeisa. The government regards itself as the successor state to British Somaliland, which united from 1960 to 1991 with the Trust Territory of Somaliland (the former Italian Somaliland) to form the Somali Republic. Under the Siad Barre regime, Somaliadestroyed ninety percent of Hargeisa Per international law, once you're in, you gotta stay in, no matter how bad it smells....
Somalia has sought to block landlocked Æthiopia’s ongoing efforts to gain access to the Red Sea via a contentious agreement with Somaliland to lease a stretch of land along its coastline, where Æthiopia would establish a marine force base. In return, Æthiopia would recognize Somaliland as an independent country, according to Somaliland authorities.

Somaliland seceded from Somalia more than 30 years ago but is not recognized by the African Union or the United Nations
...where theory meets practice and practice loses...
as an independent state. Somalia still considers Somaliland part of its territory.

#1  Understanding Hunger in Egypt
With more than 98 million people, Egypt remains the most populated country in North Africa. More than 32.5% of citizens live below the poverty line, making malnutrition and hunger in Egypt pressing issues. The current influx of poverty leaves children and adults without proper education, left to partake in dangerous and under-compensated work such as mining, quarrying and cement production.

Himmler's Fourth Reich - SS Assets Saved in Global Conspiracy: A new history story about who got access to the SS wealth after WW-II
[YouTube] In August 1944, as the Battle of Normandy raged, a secret meeting was held in Strasbourg by a cabal of senior SS officers and German industrialists. The meeting was ordered by Heinrich Himmler himself - its purpose - none other than to save German industrial wealth from the Allies and to lay the foundations for a postwar Fourth Reich, with Himmler as its leader.

Dr. Mark Felton is a well-known British historian, the author of 22 non-fiction books, including bestsellers 'Zero Night' and 'Castle of the Eagles', both currently being developed into movies in Hollywood. In addition to writing, Mark also appears regularly in television documentaries around the world, including on The History Channel, Netflix, National Geographic, Quest, American Heroes Channel and RMC Decouverte. Russian Armed Forces record mass shootings of Ukrainian soldiers by Ukrainian Armed Forces barrier detachments
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian Armed Forces (AF) are using drones to record cases of mass shootings by Ukrainian blocking units of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) fighters who are trying to escape from the line of combat contact. This was reported by an attack aircraft of one of the Russian units with the call sign Shturman.

According to the fighter, when the enemy runs out of ammunition, they try to retreat. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces' barrier detachments open fire on them.

"They open fire on them with machine guns or something heavier. During each assault or counterattack, up to ten Ukrainian servicemen die," TASS quotes Shturman as saying.

The attacker also added that Ukrainian units are suffering heavy losses of personnel. But despite this, the number of fighters killed under friendly fire is increasing.

On July 16, Regnum news agency reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen were shooting their fellow soldiers who were trying to surrender in Rabotino. According to the coordinator of the Nikolaev underground, Sergei Lebedev, in other parts of the front, Ukrainian fighters who were trying to surrender were being shot by their own fellow soldiers.

In Kursk Oblast, Kiev militants shot their own comrades for attempting to surrender. The incident occurred near the village of Vesyoloye in Glushkovsky District. Ukrainian fighters were driving at full speed toward Russian positions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters had to break through the fire of their comrades. The crew did not survive.

Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS to Approach Earth on October 12
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A recently discovered comet, named C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, will approach Earth approximately on October 12. The comet will next appear in 80,000 years. CNN reported on the unique event.

Residents of the Southern Hemisphere were able to observe Tsuchinshan-ATLAS in September and early October.

"The comet won't streak across the sky like a meteor. It will just hang there and slowly change its position from night to night," said Bill Cook, head of NASA's meteorological environment division at NASA's Space Flight Center.

The specialist also said that the celestial body can be clearly seen through binoculars, and “you will simply be shocked.” In a dark sky, the comet will look like a bright fireball with a long tail.

According to NASA, the comet will make its first documented flyby of Earth at a distance of 70 million km.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, residents of Kiev, Kharkov, Zhitomir and other cities in Central Ukraine noticed a falling meteor on the night of August 17.

Asteroid 2024 PT5 will change its orbit under the influence of Earth's gravity, but it will not become a "second Moon", that is, a new satellite. This is the answer given by scientists to media reports about an asteroid allegedly approaching the planet, which will temporarily become a new satellite of the planet, rotating around it in orbit.

The problem of applying a tourniquet
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin. Link to the Telegram channel is in Russian.

[ColonelCassad] Just the other day I came across information on the Internet that the governor of the Belgorod region advertises a website where they "train" people in first aid. This is not an isolated case, more and more often, against the backdrop of a special military operation, organizations have begun to appear that are trying to win grants (targeted cash subsidies) for "training" citizens. What is the main problem? Naturally, the intention is good on the one hand, but on the other - the devil is in the details.

Almost every training portal tells us how to apply a tourniquet and everywhere, without exception, mistakes are noticeable that, unfortunately, will cost the life of the victim, and will cause psychological trauma to the rescuer in the future. Just a week ago I wrote that the most common mistake is the opinion that a person has the knowledge and skills to provide assistance.

A similar situation is observed on the part of employers. All employee training comes down to simply signing in logs on safety precautions, etc. And now in more detail.

The video posted on the First Aid portal requires the rescuer to apply a tourniquet as close to the wound as possible. But what if the victim (especially in Belgorod) received multiple injuries? This is more difficult. Let's imagine that a shell exploded next to the victim and caused him multiple wounds. The victim is on his back and a blood stain is spreading under his clothes. Can you determine the type of bleeding? Can you determine where exactly the blood is flowing from?

It is for this reason that tactical medicine teaches people to apply a tourniquet as high and as tightly as possible. In our classes, we constantly show photographs of fatal outcomes when the tourniquet was applied as close to the wound as possible, and above the tourniquet there are small wounds, severed arteries, and then death.

It turns out that, unfortunately, many are still trying to teach people using old methods. Where there is no finger pressure and no direct pressure on the wound, there is just a tourniquet, and then a call to the ambulance. Next week I will try to tell you how fast a victim of a traumatic limb amputation or other injuries can "flow out" and what is the advantage of finger pressure.

Let's go back to the above-mentioned site, but what if a person has a severed artery in his arm and leg? or in both legs and an arm? Is it difficult? Just apply a tourniquet?

Dear friends, I urge you to study and study for real. For the good!

Project "Tactical Medicine Courses" (https://t.me/tacticalmedicinecourses )

I can only support the author, over the years of the SVO I have seen a lot of photos and videos with different types of injuries to our and Ukrainian soldiers (if anyone is interested in such things, watch the "Khilera" channel, but this is not for the faint of heart), often the cause of death is an incorrectly applied tourniquet. One friend died this way in 2023, the tourniquet was applied incorrectly and it "flowed out".

In general, it is necessary to study tactical medicine in a real way. Honor and respect to military doctors who save lives. In terms of the quality of military medicine, this is the most effective war of the last decades, the percentage of rescues is very high.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Update on Esmail Qaani
[IsraelTimes] Rumors have continued to swirl in recent days over the status of Esmail Qaani, the head of Iran's extraterritorial Quds Force who hasn't been seen in public for several weeks.

Qaani has been conspicuously absent since he traveled to Beirut two days after the massive Israeli airstrike late last month that killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and several other top commanders, including an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps deputy commander.

After unconfirmed reports that he had been killed in a subsequent Israeli strike in Beirut alongside a top Hezbollah leader,
…that would be Hashem Safieddine
claims have now surfaced on Arabic and regional media that while he is alive, Qaani is being investigated by the IRGC, of which his Quds Force is part, on suspicion of involvement in Israeli intelligence infiltration and of playing a part in Israel's assassination late last month of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah
Times of Israel bases its reporting on info from the Saudis and Qataris.

US military opens artillery fire on allied Syrian forces
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] The US Armed Forces opened fire from artillery guns on the positions of the Syrian army allies in the province of Deir ez-Zor. A source from the scene told RIA Novosti about this.

According to the publication, US artillery fired four times at positions of the Syrian army's allies in the areas of Huweija Saqr and Maryi, located on the northern outskirts of the city of Deir ez-Zor.

US military helicopters are actively patrolling the area around the Koniko gas field base, which is regularly hit by missile attacks from militias.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the geography of the Middle East conflict is expanding, which is leading to the destruction of civilian infrastructure and catastrophic consequences for the region, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, on October 10. This is how he responded to a request to comment on the likely ground operation of Israel in Syria. The Israeli army previously began a "limited ground operation" in Lebanon, and, according to some reports, may begin a similar operation in Syria.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Middle East was on the brink of a major war and that there are forces that really want such a war. The minister also accused Israel of violating Lebanon's sovereignty by carrying out airstrikes on the country.

The United States is directly involved in Israel's aggression against Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Bashar Jaafari said earlier. Israel, with the support of the American side, crossed all red lines, which led to an escalation of the situation in the region, the diplomat emphasized.

Trump asks for military aircraft protection, citing Iran threat
As Alinsky said, "Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity." At least it’s a new fiscal year, so they’ll have plenty of money again.
[IsraelTimes] Donald Trump’s campaign has requested the use of military aircraft and vehicles to protect the former president as he campaigns during the final weeks of the presidential campaign, the New York Times and Washington Post report.

The request follows two recent assassination attempts against the Republican presidential candidate. It also comes after Trump’s campaign last month said he had been briefed by US intelligence officials on alleged threats from Iran to assassinate him.

A representative for the US Secret Service, which is charged with protecting presidential candidates, says “the former president is receiving the highest levels of protection” but confirms the Trump campaign had requested more.

“The Secret Service will remain vigilant and continue to adjust and enhance its protective posture as needed to mitigate evolving threats,” the representative says.

US President Joe Biden, speaking to reporters, says he has authorized security to protect Trump as if he were a sitting president, and if Trump’s request falls in that category it should be granted.

Representatives for Trump’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

According to the New York Times, Trump’s campaign has been in contact with White House chief of staff Jeff Zients and acting Secret Service Ronald Rowe asking for military assets to protect the Republican candidate, who is facing US Vice President Kamala Harris in the Nov. 5 presidential election.

Russia creates a concept design for the newest aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Russia's always has been a brown water/coastal navy.

[Regnum] Russia has developed a conceptual design for the newest aircraft carrier for the Russian Navy. It was presented by the Krylov State Research Center. This was reported on October 11 by the center's general director Oleg Savchenko.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, he specified that the design of the vessel, called the sea-based aircraft carrier complex, was completed two years ago. The center's specialists continue to provide scientific support for the aircraft carrier project.

At the moment, the Navy has only one aircraft carrier in combat service: Admiral Kuznetsov. It is currently undergoing repairs and modernization.

It is noted that the decision to build a new aircraft carrier has not yet been made.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, 50 new ships will join the Russian Navy by the end of 2024. According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Viktor Yevtukhov, the list will include boats, as well as small missile ships and support vessels. Last year, 32 ships joined the Russian fleet.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the end of last year that five frigates, eight corvettes, 13 small missile ships and more than 50 other ships of various classes were at various stages of completion at Russian shipyards. The head of state emphasized that Russian shipbuilding had entered a new important stage — serial production of combat ships of various classes.

Alexey Rakhmanov, who at that time held the post of head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, stated that the return of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov to the navy will take place in 2024. Repair and modernization of the ship began in 2017.

More from regnum.ru
The US Navy monitored the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in 2011

The US Navy conducted surveillance of the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov in 2011, when the ship was in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Syria. This is stated in an author's publication by former US Congress employee, analyst Brandon Weichert for The National Interest.

"The U.S. Navy kept a close eye on the carrier while deploying to the Mediterranean to support Syria in 2011," Weichert said.

According to him, the surveillance was allegedly connected with the desire to “help in case the ship starts to sink.”

Weichert did not specify the reason why the Russian ship was supposed to sink.

On December 6, 2011, Admiral Kuznetsov set out with a detachment of Northern Fleet ships to the Mediterranean Sea to the shores of Syria.

The heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser was laid down at the Black Sea Shipyard on September 1, 1982 and launched on December 4, 1985. The aircraft carrier was named "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov" only on October 4, 1990, having changed several names before that. In January 1991, the ship was assigned to the Northern Fleet.

The ship can accommodate a crew of 1,960 people, including 518 officers and 210 warrant officers. The ship is equipped with four steam turbines with a capacity of 50 thousand horsepower each, nine turbo generators and six diesel generators with a capacity of 1,500 kW each. In addition, the ship is capable of carrying 26 aircraft and 24 helicopters.

Gunmen kill at least 20 miners in Balochistan
[BBC] Gunmen have killed at least 20 people at a coal mine in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, according to local police.

The attackers stormed the workers' accommodation at the Junaid Coal Company mines in the province's Duki district in the early hours of Friday morning, rounded the men up and opened fire.

A hospital in Duki has received 20 bodies and is treating six injured people, reported Reuters.

The workers were attacked with heavy weapons, including rocket launchers and grenades, police said, while one survivor described seeing a drone overhead.

Subcontractor Hafeezullah told the BBC he spotted the drone and its red light as he and a number of others hid in the bathroom.

“When the attackers got closer they shouted ‘we told you to stop work here, why didn’t you?’,” he told the BBC. He said the attackers spoke in Pashto. “Then they opened fire.”

Hafeezullah estimates the attack, which he says started just after midnight, lasted for about an hour and a half, during which time machinery was set alight. He also heard loud explosions, which he thinks were grenades exploding.

Asim Shafi, police chief in Duki district, confirmed to news agency AFP both hand grenades and rocket launchers were used in the attack, which is believed to have been carried out by as many as 40 people who then disappeared "into the night".

Police confirmed that four of the victims were Afghans, while the rest of the men were from Pashto-speaking areas of Balochistan.

Hafeezullah says he lost several friends in the attack.

"When I left, there were people lying on the ground," he said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the killings so far. In the past, the separatist Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has carried out several deadly attacks in the province.

Mine owner Khairullah Nasar told news agency Reuters they had been getting "threats from the militants for some time, but there was no information about the attack".

Friday's attack is the latest to be carried out in recent days, and comes just ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, a major security summit being hosted in the Pakistani capital Islamabad next week.

IDF says commander of Hezbollah anti-tank missile unit killed in airstrike
[IsraelTimes] The commander of an anti-tank missile unit within Hezbollah’s elite Radwan forces has been killed in an Israeli airstrike, the IDF says in a statement.

According to the IDF, Ghareeb Alshuja’a had overseen the firing of anti-tank missiles toward the Ramot Naftali area.

An airstrike targeting Alshuja’a was carried out in the Meiss Ej-Jabal area, in coordination with troops of the IDF’s 91st Division, the military says.

In addition, over the last day, IDF troops operating in southern Lebanon uncovered and destroyed rocket launchers aimed at Israel, and several gunmen were eliminated while operating in a building close to where Israeli forces were located, the military says.

It adds that the Israeli Air Force also carried out multiple strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon over the last day, including weapons warehouses, an observation post and rocket launchers.

Embedded reporter reports: Inside the village where thousands of Radwan fighters prepared to storm Israel
[Ynet] In an open Humvee through southern Lebanon, every anti-tank missile or mortar leaves little chance of survival; yet, since the war began, the IDF has cleared out thousands of terrorists, uncovering vast weapon stockpiles; Lebanon now faces a Gaza-like reality

Almost two weeks into the IDF's ground incursion into southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, I accompanied the forces into the Shiite villages on Thursday.

Looking left out of the Hummer, I see the nearby Lebanese village. My first thoughts are that from such a distance, one mortar or anti-tank missile, and my chances of surviving are slim.

We’re still traveling along the Israeli side of the border along a rickety road, once used for patrols. A thin fence, full of sensors, separates us from Lebanese territory, and I’m thinking about Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, which this fence was supposed to delay, or at least warn us about, minutes before reaching the nearby Israeli community.

I can’t detail the location or the village we’re going to as Hezbollah reads, watches and listens to everything published by Israeli media, and an explosive-laden drone may well find its way here tomorrow. It’s no longer theoretical. This is reality, but it’s going to change.

While traveling, we see the houses at the front of the village, out of which short-range rockets and anti-tank missiles have been launched over the past year. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) hit them very well indeed.

The IDF breaks through the border fence, and we start bouncing along a path that had been used by Lebanese farmers tending the terrace orchards. The old and familiar scent of Lebanon at the summer’s end kicks in: sage, thorns, yellow grass and a lot of burning. Over the past year, no Israeli has set foot here on our side of the border, less still on the Lebanese side.

These villages served as Hezbollah’s firing bases. But no more. We’re driving along here in open Hummers because the 91st Division has pushed Hezbollah’s anti-tank missiles back a few ridges north and west of here. Even if they were to put their mind to it, they couldn’t target us directly as they could have done up to only a few days ago.

The 91st Division, however, is still fighting in the villages near the border, and cleansing one house after the other. Every now and then, you hear a kaboom, followed by a long round of gunfire, followed by silence.

The ambushes set up by the IDF along the border fence lead us, out of Hezbollah’s line of vision, to a bone-racking windy route straight into the village. To our left, a reserve duty unit takes cover in a half-ruined house. To our right, there’s an excavator with a huge arm breaking the walls of a rather stubborn house built of concrete, natural rocks and hard dolomite, the most plentiful rock around here: The "Dahieh doctrine" in action.

THOUSANDS OF RADWAN FIGHTERS AWAITED THE ORDER TO STORM INTO ISRAEL
A Radwan Force numbering 4,000—6,000 men was supposed to include six brigades and 16 battalions intending to invade Israel all at once along six routes. The plan was for Radwan operatives to live in the villages and dug-out compounds in the tangled terrain, waiting for the day the order would be given. They would then come out of the villages and the thicket and, under the cover of rocket and artillery fire, break through the fence and storm Israeli civilian communities and IDF outposts.

The plan was for the Radwan force and Hezbollah men to ordinarily walk around unarmed, as innocent villagers, and then, when the order was given, descend to the subterranean bunkers in the thicket on the village outskirts, come out with the equipment and charge toward Israel. The equipment prepared for that day includes vests, AK-47s, helmets and explosives to break through fences and smash walls.

Radwan Forces would cross the Israeli border following fire from forces stationed on the front line by the Israeli border covering them. Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The late, lamented satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...>
was so sure he could implement the element of surprise that he didn’t even bother concealing the plan’s outline.

Brig. Gen. Shai Kleper, 91st Division commander, whom we accompanied for our tour in southern Lebanon, shows us an arsenal prepared for the day the order is given. "This storehouse serves Hezbollah and Radwan attack forces who come here and equip themselves," he says.

"Here, you can see hundreds of vests packed full of cartridges alongside sniper rifles, AK-47s and machine guns. Here, at the side, there are mortars, here landmine explosives and here you see bags of RPDs, Dragunovs, Steyrs and hand grenades.

It means that an operative leaves Bekaa in jeans and sandals, gets here, gets his combat equipment, a map, the plan he’s already prepared for, and with it knows how to get in. That’s this line. The next line is where Hezbollah deployed rocket launchers aimed toward Israeli territory. They’re deployed here, in apparently civilian orchards; this, apparently civilian, village is, in fact, a military village used as a springboard into the territory of the State of Israel."

Thursday evening, the IDF revealed some details regarding the weapons found so far by the 91st Division in southern Lebanon, which we accompanied, that raided various areas, destroyed Hezbollah terror infrastructure and weapons and conducted face-to-face battles with terrorists.

"The 3rd Brigade’s combat team found 800 military vests and hundreds of weapons including grenades, bombs and AK-47s," the army said. "The 8th Brigade combat team found crates of weapons in civilian homes, including magazines and long-range Kornet anti-tank missile launchers aimed at the communities in the Galilee and the surrounding area and dozens of ready-for-launch missiles."

We have to be honest: Had Nasrallah implemented his plan on October 8, 2023, the day following the Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
attack, it would have likely been a catastrophe. But the IDF reservists rushed here, some without even being called up, positioned themselves here to defend the border. Now, those same reserve duty units, the 228th Brigade, ex-Nahal men, the 769th Brigade and ex-Golani men, along with further brigades are here for defensive (offensive?) purposes.
Bless them all for their courage, and for heading out to the border instead of awaiting orders. Because if Iran’s plan had been properly implemented, there would have been no Jewish homeland days later, nor most of the Jews living there, either. This Sunday, these same brigades crossed into southern Lebanon on foot via crossings, pathways, and unanticipated routes. Before entering the villages, however, the 91st Division elite vanguard at the front, commanded by Brig. Gen. Kleper, seized controlling ridges miles away to neutralize the anti-tank missile threat. Hezbollah was relying on these missiles and, in his last speech, Nasrallah even mocked IDF forces, inviting them to come in to taste Hezbollah’s missiles.

But the Northern Command, with very few exceptions, has surprisingly dismissed Hezbollah’s ability to make use of its key weapons. Simply because the IAF has preemptively taken out anti-tank missile launchers and anti-tank fire positions, with frontline ground forces quickly taking control of them. The main forces then entered the villages accompanied by tanks.

HEZBOLLAH HOMES PACKED WITH WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION
We walk among the houses. Here and there, we hear forces cleanse a house. Thursday afternoon, the day before the eve of Yom Kippur, there were no altercations. None of our forces were hurt, and most of the earth-shattering kabooms were those of houses blown up by the IDF, in which Hezbollah and Radwan forces operatives were staying.

We’re now in the village. Bint Jbeil is not far from here. The little mountain village that had turned into a large, flourishing community, has mostly been reduced to ruins. During the War of Attrition in the 1970s and the Second Lebanon War a decade later, when I was here, the enemy were Paleostinian terrorists, most of whom fled after the first round of gunfire, or surrendered to our forces without a fight. This time, the enemy’s different.

"Yesterday, we had an altercation," says 29-year-old Alaa from Usfiya, who has served over 300 days in reserve duty since October 7. "We got close to here, and they suddenly started shooting at us from all directions. At first, we thought it was friendly fire, but we soon realized that turbans were firing at us from those two houses," he added, pointing at a burned-out house with walls perforated by bullet holes and another house with a few destroyed walls beside it.

"In addition to shooting at us, they also used bombs, but we didn’t fall into the trap. We had eight maimed, not seriously, and we managed to kill the turbans who ambushed us from the houses."

Alaa says that serving for so long in reserve duty isn’t hard for him. "We haven’t had so many altercations. They’re like mice, trying to run away underground, attacking us with all kinds of devices, but we’re crushing them," he says.

Shalev, 22, from Ashkelon has also been serving on the northern border for many months. "We’ve been here both for defense and offense. The offensive part feels much more important. We’re destroying the enemy" he says.

Hezbollah is still in these little villages, intermittently taking the IDF by surprise. The extensive experience garnered during the fighting in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
plays a crucial role. The work put in by the Northern Command, the IAF and special forces who operated here covertly before the ground operation, made their message clear: Most of the Radwan Force was pushed north, some even beyond the Litani River. This likely explains the relatively meager resistance and the rather low number of casualties, that were not severe, suffered by the four divisions dealing with these villages.

Even before the ground operation in southern Lebanon, the IDF worked extensively to prepare the area. "We peeled Hezbollah and cooked it very slowly in a pot, here in this area, from Dahieh all the way to Bekaa," says IDF spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

"We gradually eliminated the commanders of the main units. We peeled away their capabilities. Thousands of turbans who should have been here now, have been repelled, killed."

Hagari says, that now, that we’re "after a strong aerial campaign and have assassinated the senior command, we’re comprehensively dismantling the infrastructure and weapons that Hezbollah had prepared here to conquer the Galilee."

"Even, as you stand here now, the threat is still present," he says. "There’s the threat of mortars and anti-tank missiles. We’re not in a sterile environment. Terrorists are lurking here too. We’re cleansing. It’s not sterile — but this isn’t what should have been here.

"The element of surprise afflicted on the enemy stems from an orderly process conducted by the Northern Command and the IDF over the past year: An orderly and systematic degradation of Hezbollah’s command capabilities, repelling the enemy far away from here, eliminating important cells, while working on Hezbollah’s strategic capabilities and going in with a ground operation after training, at a time that the enemy is in an inferior state. This is the operation that was built and this is what we’re doing.

"We’re going house to house finding piles of Radwan Forces’ personal equipment, or cannons pointing at Israel lying around the yard. We see flimsy electric wires leading from the houses to rocket launchers with mortar barrels positioned on the edges of the orchards, and obviously, above all, dozens of Kornet anti-tank missiles, as well as older models."

Only when you see this vast arsenal and notice the up-to-date night vision equipment lying in the corner of the room do you realize that there was an army here — a terrorist army ready to charge at our communities. I prefer not to think about what would have happened if the IDF, primarily the reservists, hadn’t rushed to position themselves on the defense lines in such a way that made Nasrallah and his field commanders not want to try us. Now, Lebanon is living the Gaza experience.

"How long have you been on reserve duty?" I ask Lt. Avi Goldberg from Jerusalem. "Three hundred days, I think. Maybe more," he says without batting an eye. "We’ll be here and do the work for as long as it takes. We have to bring the residents of the north back to their homes."

I try testing him saying, "I’m hearing that cliché over and over. Do you really mean it?" This provocation doesn’t even make him blink. "No. That’s what I, and everyone you see here around you, thinks exactly. It’s not a cliché. It’s reality. This is what we’re supposed to do and this is what we’ll do and we won’t leave here until we’ve done it," he asserts.

I’m not giving up. I go up to one of the soldiers and ask him the same question. Believe it or not, I get the exact same answer, word for word, despite this reservist being a father of four nearing 40.

Yaniv Berliner, a reservist living on Kibbutz Or Haner near the Gaza border, has served a whole year in the reserves. "Only a few days ago, a year passed since that horrific day. I have friends, acquaintances and relatives still in captivity. I hope that what we’re doing here will help bring them back home as quickly as possible," he says.

"We’re doing everything we can, and we’ll serve as long as we need, to genuinely restore security to the country and its borders. There are reservists here risking their lives day and night, 24/7. I hope that everything we’re doing here will be worth it."

For now, it seems to be working, and it looks like without cleansing this strip of the vast quantity of weapons, the infrastructure for launching attacks into Israel and the arsenals above and below ground, no one living on the northern border will be going back home. Moreover, the State of Israel won’t be able to let them back before totally cleansing the sector - not only due to the absent sense of security — but also due to security itself.

Attack on the decline
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text from the Telegram account of Russian military Historian Alexey Isaev.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] I recently expressed an idea in the comments, I will expand a little more fully. Can an army that is on the wane of its power launch an offensive, take territory? Launch an offensive in the Kursk region, in short.

Of course it can. Historical examples here are the Wehrmacht offensive in the Ardennes in 1944 and on Lake Balaton in 1945 (not only the March "Spring Awakening", but also the "Conrads" in January).

The goal of the offensive in the Ardennes (codename "Wacht am Rhein", "Watch on the Rhine" - such a patriotic German song) was quite tangible - the port of Antwerp. Indeed, Antwerp, when the issue with the island of Walcheren at the mouth of the Scheldt was resolved in late autumn 1944, significantly facilitated the supply of the Allied armies on the approaches to Germany. Before that, they were suffocated by the need to drive cargo in a roundabout way by car (Red Ball Express) with a number of ports occupied by German garrisons in "fortress" mode.

I emphasize: this is not a repetition of the "sickle strike" of May 1940. A much simpler and more tangible goal. Field Marshal Model's proposal to launch a local counterattack in this context was noticeably worse. It did not have the same effect as the capture of Antwerp. Which would have forced the Allies to get stuck on the German border for a long time.

Did the Americans uncover the German preparations? They did not. Including due to the fact that "Ultra" intercepts radiograms in a maneuverable battle, but does not intercept telephones on a static front, and maintaining radio silence is the basis of operational camouflage.

However, what do we see in the case of the army "coming from the fair"? Firstly, the operation was prepared for a very long time due to, among other things, the need to accumulate fuel. Because in September the tap with Romania was turned off (by the forces of the 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian) and the allies seriously worked on the synthetic fuel plants.

Secondly, we see that despite all the tricks, Antwerp was far away. It turned out to be only a wedging with a limited result from all points of view. What was the "Antwerp" of the Ukrainian Armed Forces? Kursk NPP? Probably. We'll find out later.

About Balaton next time. And yes, there is a third question: will there be an operation "Nordwind" and where?

The enemy did not achieve the goals with the Kursk NPP and the Lgov-Kurchatov highway and the offensive gradually fizzled out. The consequences are now coming. But of course attempts to turn around the bad operational situation by tactical means will continue, mainly with the support of the West.

Israel, on high alert, marks Yom Kippur amid war for first time since 1973
May we all be written in the Book of Life for a year of health and happiness.
[IsraelTimes] Israel shuts down for Holy Day, but residents urged to employ special alert systems in place; 120 rockets fired at start of holiday; war-zone soldiers instructed not to fast

Israel shut down late on Friday afternoon for Yom Kippur, the Jewish Day of Atonement and the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, with the country embroiled in an active war on the Holy Day for the first time since 1973.

The country was on high alert, with troops continuing combat operations in Leb

and special alert systems in place to warn the population amid near-constant rocket fire and spiraling tensions with Iran. More than 120 rockets were fired at Israel in the first hours of the holiday.

The day also marked a period of introspection as the country reflected on a year of immense pain and suffering following the October 7, 2023, Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
attack that plunged the country into a year of war that shows no signs of abating.

In light of the security situation, the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command urged residents to ensure that they had access to special warning systems put in place to alert them to specific dangers like rocket and missile attack, or to broader warnings in case of a further outbreak of war.

People can activate a broadcast station on radios and televisions that will transmit in silence with the exception of rocket warning sirens, which will be aired out loud, in real time.

The Home Front Command will also continue to use warning systems to cell phones and through its app, warning of incoming rockets.

More than 120 rockets were fired at northern Israel in the hour ahead of the fast, with most being intercepted. Several fell in open areas and sparked fires. There were no reports of injuries.

As sundown approached, all local radio, television and internet broadcasts and news sites gradually fell silent. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
several noted they were prepared to resume operations in the event of major events.

For religious and traditional Jews, the 25-hour period of fasting and praying began at 5:31 p.m. in Jerusalem and 5:51 p.m. in Tel Aviv. It will end on Saturday at 6:46 p.m. and 6:48 p.m., respectively.

On Thursday, newly appointed Chief Sephardic Rabbi David Yosef affirmed existing IDF protocols prohibiting soldiers engaged in active combat from fasting on Yom Kippur.

The chief rabbi wrote that it was "clear" that IDF combat soldiers actively involved in fighting are prohibited from fasting on Yom Kippur. They are also not to limit the amount they eat and drink, but to consume food and liquids as they normally do."

In Jewish law, saving human life takes precedence over adhering to religious strictures, including the prohibition against eating on Yom Kippur, a day of fasting dedicated to introspection and repentance.

Troops are currently fighting in the Gaza Strip and in southern Lebanon.

The IDF also said Friday it was bolstering its West Bank presence with several additional combat platoons to guard settlements and the security barrier, following a recent situational assessment.

Israel police were also on high alert across the country amid a recent spate of terror attacks.

Hospitals across the country were also operating on an emergency footing with teams ready to respond to any events.

This year marks the first time Israel has been in a state of active war on Yom Kippur since 1973, when it suffered a surprise attack on the Holy Day by the armies of Egypt and Syria.

Despite the ongoing war, much of the country shut down in accordance with traditions.

All flights in and out of Ben Gurion airport ceased at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The airport will reopen Saturday night, with arrivals starting at 10:30 p.m., while departures will resume an hour later. During this period Israel’s air space is also closed to flights passing through.

Border crossings were also shut and will reopen late Saturday.

Trains stopped operating at 1:00 p.m. and will only resume on Sunday morning, as inner-city buses and inter-city transport also halted their routes starting at 2:00 p.m. They will gradually restart Saturday evening.

Roads were largely clear of cars by early Friday evening, as is the national tradition.

In normal years they are usually replaced with multitudes of people on bicycles and other non-motorized vehicles. Driving during the Jewish Day of Atonement is considered taboo, and many secular Israelis have turned the day into a biking holiday, taking advantage of the car-free roads.

For the Magen David Adom Rescue service and other paramedics, this Yom Kippur will provide additional challenges as they remain on high alert to deal with incoming rocket fire in addition to the extra missions of the day.

Yom Kippur is one of the busiest days of the year with hundreds of extra medics, paramedics, ambulances and volunteers deployed across the country.

Most injuries over Yom Kippur come from accidents on the roads as tens of thousands of children and teens take advantage of the deserted streets to ride their bicycles. Other common Yom Kippur injuries are caused by parents leaving children unattended outside synagogues and, of course, dehydration and complications from fasting.

Mexican Navy Finds Fisherman Adrift in Boat Carried Away by Hurricane Milton
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A Persuader patrol aircraft of the Mexican Navy spotted a fisherman drifting on an overturned boat 100 km off the coast of Mexico. This was reported by the press service of the Mexican Navy.

"Our search and rescue system has located a person on board a boat that was drifting after Hurricane Milton. Personnel from the Yucalpeten search and rescue station have been dispatched to the site to rescue the sailor," the department said on social media.

Mexican navy has released a video showing a fisherman sitting on an overturned boat in the open sea.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, Hurricane Milton hit the coast of Florida on the evening of October 9. The elements caused powerful tornadoes. Several people became victims of the emergency. The wind speed reached 195 km/h. Heavy rains also fell in Florida, and in a few hours the level of precipitation exceeded the multi-month norm.

By the morning of October 10, about 2.7 million people in Florida were without power, with more than 2.68 million customers experiencing power outages. More than a hundred homes were damaged in the county. The hardest-hit areas were on the state's west coast.

Hurricane Milton kills 14 in Florida

In the US state of Florida, people continue to die as a result of the elements — Hurricane Milton has already claimed 14 lives. These statistics were reported by the Washington Post newspaper, citing local authorities.

The hurricane swept across Florida, flooding and destroying communities. However, despite this, the number of victims was less than expected. Residents of Florida began to return to damaged and flooded homes.

Milton was blamed for at least 14 deaths, officials said. The first six people were killed on Oct. 9, when two tornadoes struck St. Lucie County the day before the storm. Authorities in Wolusha County reported four deaths, including two women, when trees fell on their homes. Two more people were killed in St. Petersburg and two in Citrus County.
