Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Confirming Sinwar’s death, Hamas insists hostages won’t be freed unless war ends
The usual Catch-22. The war won't end until the hostages are freed, and the hostages won't be freed until the war ends...
[IsraelTimes] As terror group warns it won’t soften its stance on a deal, Netanyahu consults on campaign’s future; Israel ‘cautiously optimistic,’ but White House says talks yet to restart

Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
on Friday confirmed that its leader Yahya Sinwar had been killed by the Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday.

At the same time, it sought to pour cold water on Israeli hopes of an easier path to a hostage release deal now that the terror leader is gone, saying the 101 hostages still held in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
would not be freed until the war ends and Israel fully withdraws from the enclave.

Both Jerusalem and Washington, meanwhile, expressed cautious optimism that Sinwar’s death could yet hasten the release of the hostages. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was reported by Hebrew media outlets to be holding consultations Friday on the future of the Gaza war in the wake of the demise of Sinwar.

At the same time, the White House said long-stalled truce-hostage talks had yet to be renewed.

An Israeli official also warned that Sinwar’s brother and possible successor Muhammad was no less of a hardliner than the slain terror chief, and suggested Israel could pursue smaller hostage deals with disparate Hamas factions if no central leadership emerges quickly.

Also on Friday, the army released footage of a tank firing at the building where Sinwar was hiding. One of the tank’s shells killed Sinwar, who had been spotted moving through the neighborhood with two bodyguards.

Channel 12 reported that Sinwar’s nephew, who was one of the men killed with him, was carrying many documents relating to the Hamas leader’s affairs, and that these could supply key intelligence to Israel.

In a video statement Friday, Khalil al-Hayya, deputy leader of Hamas’s Qatar

They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
-based politburo, said Israel would come to regret killing Sinwar, adding that his "martyrdom" would only strengthen the terror group.

The hostages "will not return... unless the aggression against our people in Gaza stops," the senior Hamas official said.

Hamas’s armed wing vowed, in its own statement, to keep fighting Israel until the "liberation of Paleostine," as it mourned the death of the group’s chief.

Hailing the killing in a video statement Thursday, Netanyahu pledged to press on in Gaza and Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
. He also addressed Paleostinian holy warriors holding hostages in Gaza, saying the captors would be spared if they laid down their arms and released the hostages.

The Prime Minister’s Office said US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant....
called Netanyahu on Thursday night to congratulate him on Sinwar’s killing, and that the two leaders agreed to pursue the new opportunity to release the hostages.

White House spokesperson John Kirby told news hounds in Washington that Sinwar had been a key obstacle in talks to secure the hostages’ release and a ceasefire in Gaza, and that his killing was an "inflection point" in reaching those goals. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
Kirby noted, talks had yet to be renewed.

An Israeli official told The Times of Israel that Jerusalem was now "cautiously optimistic" that a hostage-ceasefire deal could be reached, but warned that Muhammad Sinwar, Yahya’s brother and potential successor, "is no less extreme than his brother," and that Hamas remains "a murderous terror organization."

There has been no comment from Hamas’s remaining leadership on speculation that Muhammed Sinwar is preparing to take the reins of the terror group. The Israeli official said Jerusalem is considering seeking separate, smaller deals with various Hamas factions that hold some hostages if there is no central leadership to negotiate with.

The Israeli military said Sinwar was killed in a chance firefight in southern Gaza’s Rafah on Wednesday, with forces only discovering who they had killed after the fact.

The Times of Israel understands the IDF believes that the terror leader was hiding in Khan Younis earlier in the war, but was driven out by Israeli military pressure, which left him feeling boxed in and forced him to move locations, staying underground as much as possible.

After spending some time in Rafah, the military believes he was likely trying to reach the al-Mawasi humanitarian area by the coast when he ran into Israeli forces.

Channel 12 reported Friday that Israel believes IDF operations in Rafah’s Tel Sultan neighborhood increasingly denied Sinwar more and more locations in which to hide, forcing him to flee.

Forces spotted three terror operatives Wednesday night, firing at them and injuring them. Two headed into one building, and the third, who it later emerged was Sinwar, went into another, the military said. IDF tanks and other forces then opened fire on both buildings.

Sinwar then went up to the second floor. A tank fired another shell at the building, and an infantry platoon moved up to search it. Sinwar threw two grenades, one of which went kaboom!. The soldiers withdrew, and a drone flew in to search the room. It found a man with his arm injured and his face covered — Sinwar — who threw a wooden stick at the drone. A video published by the army on Thursday showed this moment.

Another tank shell was then fired at the building, killing the Hamas leader.

Sinwar was the architect of the October 7, 2023, Hamas onslaught, when thousands of holy warriors stormed southern Israel to kill nearly 1,200 people and take 251 hostages, sparking the war in Gaza.

The Walla news site reported Friday that Sinwar’s body had been moved to a secret location inside Israel after undergoing an autopsy at the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute overnight.

According to the report, the autopsy confirmed that Sinwar had been killed by a bullet to the head and shell fire.

Walla added that the forensic institute is waiting for the findings of additional tests to determine whether there were drugs or other unusual substances in his blood at the time of his death.

IDF says it killed top Hamas commander responsible for guarding Sinwar; IDF had previously thought him dead
[IsraelTimes] The commander of Hamas’s Tel Sultan Battalion, Mahmoud Hamdan, was not killed several weeks ago as the IDF had announced at the time, but rather, he was killed earlier today, the military announces.

According to the IDF, Hamdan was responsible for guarding Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar and the six Israeli hostages who were murdered by their captors in Rafah in late August.

“A few weeks ago it was determined that [Hamdan] was most likely eliminated, following intelligence information. Today we understand that the intelligence finding on which his death was based was not accurate enough,” the IDF says.

The army says Hamdan continued to guard Sinwar since then, and earlier today, troops of the Bislamach Brigade killed him in an exchange of fire, around 200 meters from the site where the Hamas leader was killed on Wednesday.

Troops said to find cache of letters written and received by Sinwar
[IsraelTimes] Troops searching in homes near where Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was killed found a cache of the slain terror leader’s correspondence, including with his 10-year-old son, Channel 12 reports. The report says the letters, both those that he received and sent, are providing Israel with valuable intelligence, but gives no details.

The report also says that among the letters were those between Sinwar and his son, in which Sinwar tried to imbue his son with a hate for Israel. Among the letters sent by the boy were his drawings of dead Israeli soldiers, the report says. The son also asked Sinwar when the war would end.

Government Corruption
Adam Schiff's conflicting 'principal' residences in mortgage, election papers raise fraud concerns
[JTN ht Insty] California congressman’s behavior — filing contradictory statements about his "principal residence" — looks like "serious, documented allegations which carry significant criminal penalties," ex-FBI supervisor says.

In the two decades before he became the Democrats' U.S. Senate nominee in California, former House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff repeatedly declared in mortgage and election filings that both of his homes — one in California and the other in Maryland — were his "principal residence." The claims have now prompted an ethics complaint and could be prosecutable as fraud, experts said.

Americans are allowed to claim just one home as their primary residence: the one they live in the majority of the year, according to the federally backed lender Freddie Mac. But Schiff alternately declared both of his properties in the two different states as "principal" on multiple mortgage and election forms dating to 2003 and reviewed by Just the News.

Those declarations over the years won him financial and political benefits like lower mortgage interest rates, tax advantages and the ability to run for election in a California House district.

Schiff and his office did not respond to multiple requests seeking comment by phone or email.
"Principal" residences in two states

In at least three instances, documents show that in 2009 and again in 2011 and 2013, Schiff refinanced his Maryland home and declared it was his "principal residence" at the same time he had declared his principal residence was in the California, according to 2009 and 2011 financing docs for his Burbank condo.

The pattern was first detected by Sacramento-based real estate investigator Christine Bish, who also is running for Congress as a Republican this year. She filed an ethics complaint against Schiff in Congress. The accompanying documents were then confirmed independently by Just the News.

The conflicting declarations were not resolved until 2020 when Schiff suddenly changed the notations on his Maryland mortgage to be a secondary residence. Bish alleges this change constitutes an admission by Schiff that the prior conflicting declarations may amount to a pattern and practice of mortgage fraud.
File

Law enforcement experts said the documents could form the basis for prosecution. "These are serious, documented allegations which carry significant criminal penalties if substantiated," retired FBI supervisory special agent Jeff Danik said after reviewing the documents at Just the News’ request.

The FBI veteran noted the Justice Department "maintains a robust fraud enforcement section that routinely investigates similar allegations" and "the 10-year statute of limitations available in bank fraud investigations would allow for an expansive inquiry."
Pushed debunked Russian conspiracy theories

Schiff has long been a target of Republican critics, who seethed over his efforts to portray Donald Trump and his supporters as compromised by Vladimir Putin in the now widely debunked Russia collusion case and to pursue two impeachments against the former president.

Schiff’s insistent claims of a Trump-Russia conspiracy — fueled by debunked Hillary Clinton campaign research during the 2016 election — were rebuked by DOJ Special Counsel John Durham, who concluded there was no evidence to support such allegations or the FBI probe that ensued.

Schiff's record of credibility on such big issues could be a factor if the FBI began examining his mortgage claims, a former federal prosecutor told Just the News.

Schiff "has lied to the American people more times than I can count, so it would come as no surprise to learn he misled his bank," retired Little Rock, Ark., U.S. Attorney Bud Cummins said. Cummins, who prosecuted many financial fraud cases during his tenure, said Schiff's mortgage claims merit "a fair and neutral investigation by both Congress and DOJ, but fair and neutral investigations seem nearly extinct."

Drone launched at Netanyahu's home in Israel: spokesman
[NYPost] A drone was launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in the northern Israeli town of Caesarea on Saturday, his spokesman said, adding that the premier was not in the vicinity and there were no casualties.

Earlier, the Israeli military said that a drone was launched from Lebanon and that it had hit a building. It was not immediately clear what the building was.

Two more drones that crossed into Israeli territory were intercepted, the military said.

There were no casualties reported, according to the Israeli ambulance service and police said explosions had been heard in Caesarea, coastal town where Netanyahu has a holiday home.

The drone attack was not immediately claimed by the Lebanese Iran-backed group Hezbollah, which has been trading fire with Israel since last October, or any other militant group.

Government Corruption
WaPo: FEMA Offers Illegal Migrants Disaster Aid in North Carolina
[Breitbart] The federal government is offering FEMA disaster aid to illegal migrants in North Carolina, according to a report in the Washington Post.

The federal government aids illegal migrants because it wants to demolish the once-clear legal borders and dictionary distinctions between Americans and foreigners. For example, the government is granting aid to foreign migrants if they form a business in the United States, the Post wrote on October 18. “These are people [migrants] who are not in the country legally, but their businesses are legal and they’re paying taxes,” Silvia Martín del Campo, the director for programs for Latino students at McDowell Technical Community College in Marion, North Carolina.

The aid to migrants would otherwise go to Americans who have lost their homes, land, jobs, and wealth to Hurricane Helene.

The vast majority of Americans are personally sympathetic to migrants, most of whom work hard in low-wage jobs where they also need taxpayer aid to keep them out of poverty. Moreover, many of the migrants — like Americans — have lost their jobs, hard-earned possessions, and even homes to the disaster.

However, the migrants are in North Carolina only because the federal government has spent many billions of dollars to help smuggle illegal migrants across the border and settle in the states. Roughly $1 billion of that funding has come from FEMA accounts since 2021.

The government aid for migrants is part of a post-1990 economic strategy, dubbed “Extraction Migration.” The strategy seeks to inflate the consumer economy by quietly extracting low-wage workers, apartment-sharing renters, and taxpayer-funded consumers from poor countries.

The resulting government inflow of poor migrants blurs the border between Americans and migrants, and it also shrinks Americans’ wages and personal wealth. The policy is very unpopular, so the government hides its role by obscuring the language, loopholes, and funds that help migrants.

For example, the Post’s article about aid for migrants uses words that blur the distinction between ordinary Americans and the illegal migrants who sneaked across the border as it describes how the migrants are offered aid:

Two of the people [emphasis added] who applied with Martín del Campo’s help are [migrant] sisters who own a cleaning service that specializes in mountain cabin rentals. All those reservations have been canceled, she said, leaving them with no business. They applied for a $30,000 loan, which is about as much as they usually make in six months.

“I don’t want to take advantage of the system and I don’t like borrowing money,” one sister said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of her immigration status [emphasis added]. “But my bills are due whether I can work or not. … This kind of loan would help a lot.”

Another low-wage migrant, restaurant worker José Elguera-Camacho, told the Post that he was allowed to apply for the fast-track $750 disaster grant offered by FEMA. “I usually work more than 40 hours a week this month,” he said. “Now I’m at zero,” he said.

FEMA offers the $750 “Serious Needs Assistance” grant to migrants by hiding the loophole in the fine print. The fine print allows paroled illegals to be treated as “qualified non-citizen[s].”

The government is also offering benefits to illegal migrants if they have a son or daughter born in the United States: “Most of the people [aid worker Neyda] Juarez sees are parents applying for FEMA aid on behalf of their children, who are U.S. citizens.”

Juárez is employed by Centro Unido Latino Americano, which is one of the very many non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are being used by the government to fund migrants so they settle in American communities.

The NGO is supported by various grants delivered via U.S. charities and the Mexican government. The group has also received taxpayer funding from some of the vast federal spending for migrants and migration.

Most of the government funding for migration is hidden by routing it through myriad NGOs for later distribution to smaller NGOs that commingle funds for Americans and migrants.

Some of the disaster aid that flows through the NGOs is used to pay their operating costs — and their subsequent lobbying for more migration said Krikorian.

Europe
Asylum seekers will be stripped of their benefits under new rules in Germany as the country continues to crack down on migration
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Asylum seekers will be stripped of their benefits as Germany cracks down on immigration after the country's parliament on Friday voted to tighten its rules for refugees.

The package of measures will withdraw benefits from asylum seekers who have already been registered in other EU countries and are slated for deportation. It will also mean that refugees who temporarily return to their home countries will 'as a rule' lose their right to protection in Germany, according to the legislation.

The same will apply to refugees who commit crimes with anti-Semitic or homophobic motivation.

The new rules were brought forward by the government in August in response to a deadly stabbing at a festival in the western city of Solingen. The suspect, a 26-year-old Syrian man with suspected links to the Islamic State group, was slated for deportation but evaded authorities' attempts to remove him.

The whole package will also introduce stricter rules on the carrying of knives and gives police broader powers of investigation.

While lawmakers in the Bundestag have approved the new rules, they still need to be passed by Germany's upper chamber, which will meet on Friday to decide on them. With a year to go before national elections and anti-immigration parties rising in the polls, the government has been under intense pressure to take a stricter line on immigration.

The benefits restriction provoked vocal criticism from within the government - a three-way coalition between Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats, the Greens and the liberal FDP.
“I curse your mustache, you Dootzer fop!”
“Ha! I haven’t got one, you ugly Turk! That’s ‘cause I’m a girl!”
(Actually, I’m sure the invective was terribly restrained and erudite, demonstrating their education, but no less virulent in intent. And no invective demonstrating possible bigotry was even hinted at, they being all civilized specimens of humanity. )
After internal discussions, the legislation was changed to provide exemptions for children and to withdraw support only in cases where removal was actually possible.

The implementation of the stricter rules marks a change in German attitudes towards immigration, almost a decade after former Chancellor Angela Merkel opened the country's doors to refugees in 2015.

The new German approach comes against a backdrop of hardening attitudes to immigration across Europe, where far-right parties are garnering growing support. On Thursday EU leaders called for urgent new legislation to increase the number and speed of migrant returns.

It also comes after the German state of Saxony-Anhalt cut the benefits of asylum seekers who refused to pick up debris following heavy flooding in east Germany for less than a pound an hour. 64 migrants had been written to by local authorities demanding they help clear rubbish and erect dykes for a wage of just 80 cents (68p) per hour after devastating floods in the area at the end of last year which saw hundreds of residents in parts of Germany forced to evacuate. 39 people agreed to help, while the rest, who are said to be from Syria, Afghanistan, Niger, Mali and Albania, failed to turn up. As a result, the district council declared that the 15 asylum seekers who had no excuse to take part in the clean-up will have their asylum benefits cut in half to €232 (£195) a month for three months. These benefits are meant to cover basic necessities, such as food, accommodation, personal hygiene and clothing.

Israeli strikes kill 33 people in Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza

The Hamas

-run Gaza government media office said the corpse count from the strikes could rise because some people were believed to be trapped under the rubble, and the Paleostinian official news agency WAFA said children were among those killed. There was no immediate Israeli comment.

Other Israeli strikes killed at least 39 Paleostinians across Gaza on Friday, 20 of them in Jabalia, the Gaza health ministry said.

Residents of Jabalia said Israeli tanks had reached the heart of the camp after pushing through suburbs and residential districts. They said the Israeli army was destroying dozens of houses daily, from the air and the ground, and by placing bombs in buildings then detonating them remotely.

Texas troopers find 134 illegal immigrants near border, some from Iran, authorities say
[FoxNews] A large group of illegal immigrants was spotted in Texas near the southern border, including some from Iran and Africa, authorities said.

Video footage captured from a drone shows 134 migrants in Maverick County on Thursday, which sits on the Texas-Mexico border, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said.

The group included 32 unaccompanied children and minors and seven special interest immigrants from Iran and Angola. Special interest immigrants are those who potentially pose a national security risk to the U.S.

The designation means that the travel and behavior patterns of such individuals could indicate a possible nexus to nefarious activity, including terrorism, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) states.

Earlier this month, dozens of illegal immigrants from countries linked to extensive terrorist activity were caught at the southern border in Texas.

Some hailed from Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt and India.

"It is this type of activity, these attempted illegal crossings between the ports of entry by people coming from areas that are hot spots for terrorist activity that clearly highlight the concerns of Governor Abbott and the state of Texas," DPS Director Steven McCraw said at the time.

"These are not illegal immigrants seeking asylum — these are people trying to cross into the United States undetected who may also be trying to do us harm," he added.

The DHS issued its annual threat assessment earlier this month warning of migrants with terrorist ties.

"Over the next year, we expect some individuals with terrorism ties and some criminal actors will continue their efforts to exploit migration flows and the complex border security environment to enter the United States," the assessment states.

"Individuals with potential terrorism connections continue to attempt to enter the Homeland at both the US-Mexico and US-Canada borders and also through the immigration system," it continued.

If there IS a civil war, it needs to end with the total destruction of the Democrat party. That should have happened after the 1861-65 Civil War. If it doesn't happen with a second civil war, we deserve to go down as a nation.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
25 illegal immigrants, 3 Disney employees among 157 suspects arrested in Florida human trafficking ring
More on this story from yesterday.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] A human trafficking sting called Operation Autumn Sweep nabbed 157 suspects, including three Disney employees and 25 illegal immigrants colonists in Polk County, FL. Police also rescued four potential victims of human trafficking in the process, Fox13 reported Thursday.

Those charged were allegedly soliciting hookers or offering to commit prostitution. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told a news conference Thursday that, of those arrested, 47 were hookers, 96 were clients, 1 was a human trafficker, and 14 had other charges pending. Judd noted that the eldest client was 61 and the youngest was only 15. He said the group had a total of 327 prior felony and 400 misdemeanor charges.

"16 percent of these total arrests were people who should not even have been in this country, but they were here, and they were here because we have a federal government that enabled these criminals to come into the country, and then treated them very well after the criminals came here illegally," said Judd.

Judd said that two of the potential victims of human trafficking were illegal immigrants colonists who had to pay off their debt to cartel smugglers by having sex up to 20 times a day. If they balked at this order, Judd said their handler would slap and choke them.

The sheriff noted that, of the accused, 26 are married and numerous engaged. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said that three of those charged work at Disney World.

Three suspects in addition to the 157 have been charged with soliciting sex online from three individuals that they believed to be children. They were charged with traveling to meet a minor, attempted lewd and lascivious battery on a minor, and using a computer to seduce a child. A Disney World employee is one of those suspects, a second is working in Florida but from another state, and the third is an undocumented Democrat. Judd said, "What would any of our undercover operations be - where we're dealing with human trafficking, prostitution, child predators - without Disney? We always arrest Disney employees."

The arrests come as reports of sex trafficking of immigrant children have more than tripled during the Biden-Harris administration's open border policies. Customs and Border Protection agents have warned that many children being smuggled across the border are ripe for exploitation, often as hookers or sex slaves.

The Sudanese army launched a major military operation on Friday from the Al-Faw axis in Gederaf state
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

… Shams al-Din Kabbashi,
…more formally Lieutenant General Ibrahim Shams al-Din or Shams al-Din al-Kabbashi — though as he is said to be legally illegitimate as well as a vicious bastard, nobody is quite sure what he is entitled to be called. A dear friend of National Congress Party (NCP) frontman Nafi ali Nafi the butcher (they go in for imaginative names over there), the current false nose and mustache of the old National Islamic Front, the good general currently amuses himself by masquerading as a moderate favoured by Iran. His history, however, shows otherwise: charter member of the military Council of Forty that ruled Sudan following the 1989 coup, he was given the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) to run, which he used to torture dissidents and ethnic minority leaders both in the north and south with equal enthusiasm…
on the Al-Faw front.

#1  Ibrahim Shams al-Din, then a major, was the most vicious of the Islamist military that made their way forward with the Sudan military coup of June 1989. He was a charter member of the "Council of Forty" that governed the Sudan for years. Gained his spurs by contacts with Libya's Colonel Yunis Jabir in Tripoli and then with military in Cairo. A ruthless Islamist he was a leader of the military IS-SOR (generic term for National Islamic Security apparatus). For years led activity against Southern Sudanese and was responsible for various atrocities. Then became a favorite of the Iranian mullahs. A generally very evil man.

#3  This is the same Shams al-Din:
"Letter to President Obama رسالة الى الرئيس أوباما

النسخة العربية في نهاية الصفحة
Nafie the butcher. The recent invitation by the United States government to a senior delegation of the National Congress Party (NCP) headed by Nafie Ali Nafie, to attend talks in Washington, DC is a big mistake.
The man the Obama Administration will be speaking with has blood on his hands, quite literally. As one of the most brutal members of the National Islamic Front regime and head of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) in the 1990′s, Nafie masterminded a savage campaign of torture and killing in compounds known as “Ghost Houses.” Thousands of people were tortured and hundreds disappeared in a campaign that saw the annihilation of voices of dissent. Leaders of civil society and professional and student unions were persecuted under his direct orders. He himself is known to have tortured individuals directly.
The US government must understand that the NCP has lost all legitimacy and has never represented the Sudanese people..., and continues to commit mass atrocities and crimes against humanity until this day. The regime of Omar al-Bashir has proved itself unwilling to accept the rule of law..."
In Sudan itself, Shams al-Din was thought to be of illigitimate parentage. Thus the confusion over the name he used, and apparently is using today.

#4  Sorry, I truncated the report. Nafi ali Nafi and Shams al-Din worked hand in hand for years. Reporting on one was generally equal to reporting on the other. They were both cruel oppressors not only of South Sudanese but of Darfur's many ethnic minorities.

#5  To further claify the present situation in the Sudan, note Times of Israel report on Shams, dated July 23, 2024:
"Lieutenant General Shams al-Din Kabbashi’s journey from military spokesman to pivotal figure in Sudanese politics has been marked by a calculated deception: presenting himself as a moderate force for peace while actively undermining Sudan’s democratic transition. His alliances with Islamist factions, coupled with his double-dealing diplomacy and military maneuvers, paint a troubling picture of Sudan’s future under his influence. As Sudanese citizens continue to demand genuine reform and civilian governance, Kabbashi’s true intentions serve as a stark reminder of the nation’s enduring challenges on its path to democracy and stability." Shams al-Din is indeed Shams al-Din Kabbashi.

China-Japan-Koreas
Video: Swarm of Skor choppers heading to the DMZ
[X] The situation on the Korean Peninsula does not seem to have attracted much attention from Western media. This is South Korean armed helicopters gathering towards the 38th parallel. Meanwhile, recently, North Korea has amended its constitution, defining South Korea as a "hostile" nation, while also abandoning its pledge to unify with South Korea as a national goal.

Previously, according to the North-South Korea agreement reached in 1991, the relationship between the North and South was defined as a "special relationship," part of the process towards eventual unification, rather than a relationship between two nations.

According to the amended North Korean constitution, North Korea and South Korea are now two hostile nations.

Additionally, North Korea has already blown up the roads and railways connecting North and South Korea that were highly symbolic. Before this, the Pyongyang military had vowed to "permanently" seal off the border with South Korea.

By intensifying its military operations against Hezbollah and Hamas, Israel wants to ensure that its enemies and their chief patron, Iran, don’t regroup and threaten Israeli citizens again, according to Western diplomats, Lebanese and Israeli officials, and other regional sources.

The smart thing, of course, would be for Hamas to sue for peace before Israel accomplishes separation, so that Hamas might get something instead of nothing. "There is a new landscape, a new geopolitical change in the region," said David Schenker, a former US assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs who is now a senior fellow at the Washington Institute think tank.

Before thousands of Hamas-led murderous Moslems stormed southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing some 1,200 people and abducting 251, Israel had been "willing to tolerate a high-level threat," responding to rocket fire from the Paleostinian terror group and other foes with limited strikes, Schenker said. "No longer."

"This time Israel is fighting on many fronts. It’s Hamas; it’s Hezbollah, and Iran is coming soon," he said.

Formally announcing that IDF troops had killed Sinwar in Gaza’s Rafah, Netanyahu said in a statement on Thursday that the terror chief’s death "settled the score," but he warned that the Gaza war would continue with full force until Israel’s hostages were returned.

His office said it had nothing to add.

Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the IDF front man, said Sinwar’s elimination marked a "great achievement" in efforts to destroy Hamas’ military apparatus, but added there were other commanders in Gaza.

On Friday, top Hamas official Khalil al-Hayya confirmed Sinwar’s death and said the hostages would not be returned until Israel ended its "aggression" and withdrew its forces.

. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its role in the blast.

In addition, Israel says its has eliminated thousands of the groups’ fighters, captured deep tunnel networks and severely depleted their weapons arsenals.

In September, thousands of booby-trapped communications devices used by Hezbollah members were detonated — an attack for which Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility.

But Israel’s ambitions are broader than short-term military victories, however significant, the sources who spoke to Rooters said.

BROADER AMBITION
On September 23, Israel launched ground operations in Lebanon with the stated goal of driving Hezbollah back around 30 kilometers (20 miles) from its northern border, to behind the Litani River, and ensuring the Shi’ite terror group is fully disarmed after 30 years of military support from Iran. Israel says Hezbollah’s withdrawal is required by a UN resolution intended to keep peace in the area and protect residents from the terror group’s cross-border attacks.

Security Council Resolution 1701, adopted after Israel’s last war with Hezbollah in 2006, empowered international peacekeeping force UNIFIL to help Lebanon’s army keep the area south of the river free of weapons and armed personnel, other than those of the Lebanese state. Israel complains the two forces never gained control of the area from Hezbollah, long regarded as Lebanon’s most potent military force and a key player in its government.

Hezbollah has resisted disarming,
…that’s one way to described massively up-arming until almost every house in every village has its own rocket launcher and/or weapons stash hidden under the roof or in the spare bedroom, not to mention hidden access to Hezbollah’s tunnel network…
claiming the need to defend Lebanon from Israel. Since last year, it has used the border strip as a base for near-daily attacks on Israeli towns and military posts along the border. The terror group has said its attacks, which began a day after the Hamas onslaught, are in solidarity with Gaza
solidarity is pronounced pincer movement
amid the war there. Israeli officials say the only way to enforce resolution 1701, and ensure the safe return of some 60,000 residents evacuated from northern Israel, is through military action.

"At the moment, diplomacy is not enough," an Israeli diplomatic source told Rooters.
Given that the 2006 war was to enforce the provisions of the first Lebanon War — that Hezbollah be disarmed south of the Litani River, it certainly appears that diplomacy was never enough.
Lebanese authorities say the offensive against Hezbollah has displaced more than 1.2 million people in Lebanon, mostly members of the Shi’ite community from which Hezbollah draws support.
Don’t start a serious war against Israel, and you’ll get to keep your nice things.
Israel has also faced international criticism over incidents in which its forces fired at UN peacekeepers’ posts, injuring several of them. A Lebanese security official and a diplomat familiar with the situation in southern Lebanon said it appeared that Israel wanted to drive UNIFIL from the area along with Hezbollah.
UNIFIL’s job is to guard the region south of the Litani so that Israel feels no need to return. UNIFIL failed completely.
The security official said Israeli forces were fighting for access to strategic overlook points, which are where UNIFIL bases are located.

"Their goal is to clean up this buffer zone," the diplomat said.

This could take a few weeks, if Israel aims to clear Hezbollah positions and infrastructure from a narrow band of Lebanese territory along the border, they said, but anything deeper would take much longer at the current pace.
President Biden objects to Israel bombing Hezbollah sites in Beirut. He’s not complaining about Israel plowing up the empty countryside….
On Monday, Netanyahu rejected accusations that Israel was deliberately targeting UNIFIL’s peacekeepers, but said the best way to assure their safety was to heed requests to temporarily withdraw from combat zones. The IDF says Hezbollah has been operating from sites within and adjacent to UNIFIL posts for years. The UN has said its peacekeepers will not leave their positions in southern Lebanon.

"We have to stand against ... every suggestion that if Resolution 1701 was not implemented it’s because UNIFIL did not implement, which was never its mandate," UN peacekeeping chief Jean-Pierre Lacroix told news hounds on Monday, stressing UNIFIL has a supporting role.
Supporting who to do what? Because right now it looks like they’re acting as human shields for Hezbollah, which ought not to have been the original plan.
UN, US and other diplomatic envoys agree that reviving the resolution could provide the basis for a cessation of hostilities, but better implementation and enforcement mechanisms are needed. Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, told Rooters on Monday that he wanted to see "a more robust mandate for UNIFIL to deter Hezbollah."
What will happen to the various 7NIFIL national units should they choose not to deter and enforce?
Any changes to the mandate would have to be authorized by the UN’s 15-member Security Council, and diplomats said there were no such discussions at the moment.
At minimum Russia and China won’t agree to change.
Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has said his government is prepared to deploy troops to enforce Resolution 1701 as soon as a truce takes hold.
What percent of the Lebanese army is actually on the Hezbollah payroll?
The US and La Belle France have said that strengthening Lebanon’s army would be crucial to this endeavor.

Buy-in from Iran will also be needed, said the diplomat familiar with the situation in southern Lebanon. But they said Israel did not appear ready to start negotiating any truces.

"They want to push their advantage, to be in an even stronger position to negotiate," the diplomat said.

PURGING BORDERS
Israel informed several Arab states last year that it also wanted to carve out a buffer zone on the Paleostinian side of Gaza’s border. But it remains unclear how deep Israel would like it to be or how it would be enforced after the war ends.

Israel’s ongoing offensive in Jabaliya, an area that endured heavy bombardments early in the war, has raised concerns among Paleostinians and UN agencies that Israel wants to clear residents from northern Gaza. The Israeli military denies this and says it is trying to stop Hamas fighters from regrouping for more attacks.

In May, the IDF moved into the so-called Philadelphi Corridor, a narrow strip running along Gaza’s southern frontier with Egypt, giving Israel effective control over all of the Paleostinian territory’s land borders. Israel has said it will not agree to a permanent ceasefire without guarantees that whoever runs postwar Gaza will be able to prevent the corridor from being used to smuggle weapons and supplies to Hamas.

Iran is also in Israel’s crosshairs following the recent missile attack, launched amid Israel’s escalation in Lebanon. The Middle East has been on edge about Israel’s response, worried that it could disrupt oil markets and ignite a full-scale war between the arch-enemies.
Enjoy sleeping poorly. I recommend a go bag by the bed and sleeping fully dressed with your shoes on until the bad thing happens.
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said last week the response would be "lethal, precise, and, above all, unexpected," although he has also said Israel was not looking to open new fronts. Iran has warned repeatedly that it will not hesitate to take military action again if Israel retaliates.

The US, Israel’s chief weapons supplier, has supported campaigns against Iran-backed targets like Hezbollah and Hamas, which it has designated foreign terrorist organizations. But tensions have grown as US officials have tried to persuade Israel to improve humanitarian conditions in Gaza, curb Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on residential areas and negotiate ceasefires. Biden’s attempts to engage with Iran through indirect talks about restoring a 2015 nuclear deal, and his opposition to any strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, have also been points of tension. Israel views Iran’s nuclear program as an existential threat.

Some diplomats suspect Netanyahu is also considering how a ceasefire might affect the election. Any breakthrough could help Harris, when Netanyahu would prefer to deal with Trump, whose hardline views on Israel, Paleostinians and Iran align more closely with his own, they say.

"There is no reason for Netanyahu to stop his wars before the American elections," said Marwan al-Muasher, Jordan’s former foreign minister, now vice president for studies at the US-based Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. "He’s not going to give Harris any credit or gift before the polls."

For now, Netanyahu appears determined to redraw the map around Israel in his favor by purging its enemies from its borders.

"He put his win in his pocket and is pursuing his wars and imposing a new [regional] status quo," said the Lebanese political official.

Who’s next? Speculation swirls on who will take over Hamas from slain Sinwar
[IsraelTimes] Among reported prominent contenders are terror chief’s younger brother Muhammad and current head of political bureau Mashaal; leadership expected to be taken up abroad

The killing of Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
leader Yahya Sinwar in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
Strip has left the Paleostinian terror group in need of a new chief, with various reports Friday speculating about who could fill the gap.

A Hamas source told the London-based Asharq al-Awsat newspaper that talks are being held in the group to select a new leader.

According to Israel’s Kan public broadcaster, a senior Hamas official told Asharq al-Awsat that Sinwar’s death would have a great influence on the Gaza-ruling terror group, which now faces "a new stage."

Other sources said that with Sinwar no longer in the picture, Hamas decision-making will now be made by remaining leaders abroad, which could also expedite long-stalled talks for a ceasefire and hostage deal.

Sources in the Israeli defense establishment doubt that anyone can successfully replace Sinwar, a report on Israel’s Walla website said.

Sinwar, the architect of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 invasion, slaughter and mass abduction in southern Israel, was killed on Wednesday in an exchange of fire with IDF forces in Gaza’s Rafah, after emerging from a hiding place in the Strip’s underground tunnels. The troops in the area did not specifically target him and did not know they had killed him until approaching the body hours after the firefight. Israel definitively identified him on Thursday evening.

Sinwar had been the Hamas leader in Gaza for many years, but took control of the entire organization barely two months ago following the liquidation of previous leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
in Tehran, allegedly by Israel.

KHALED MASHAAL
One seemingly obvious contender is former Hamas political bureau leader Khaled Mashaal, who resides in Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
Mashaal has been deeply involved in mediated talks between Israel and Hamas during the ongoing war, and has been a prominent Hamas leader for decades.

Israel famously tried to assassinate him in Jordan in the 1990s, but the Mossad poisoning operation was botched when the agents were arrested, forcing Jerusalem to hand over to Jordanian authorities an antidote in exchange for their release.

On Thursday, Lebanese news channel LBCI claimed that Mashaal would be the acting leader of Hamas until a replacement for Sinwar is appointed. Mashaal would also be responsible for communications with mediators in talks for the release of the hostages, the channel added.

That report had received no confirmation as of Friday.

MUHAMMAD SINWAR
Several outlets mentioned Sinwar’s younger brother Muhammad Sinwar, who is a senior commander in the terror group’s military wing. The younger Sinwar is also wanted for terror actions against Israel and has been active in Hamas for decades. He was tossed in the calaboose

by Israel in the 1990s for nine months and spent an additional three years in a Paleostinian Authority prison in Ramallah, from which he escaped in 2000.

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
the Ynet news site claimed that Muhammad is not considered the likely replacement as overall Hamas chief. The younger Sinwar may take over Hamas in the Gaza Strip, though he could face a challenge for the role from prominent commander Az al-Din Haddad, it said.

According to Channel 13, Israel has tried to assassinate Muhammad Sinwar five times. The IDF on Thursday said it is actively searching for him in the Gaza Strip along with other remaining Hamas commanders.

OTHER MILITARY WING COMMANDERS
The Walla outlet also mentioned two more senior Hamas military wing commanders as possible successors to Sinwar: Haddad, and Rafah Brigade commander Muhammad Shabana. Shabana was reportedly killed by Israel recently, though his death has not been confirmed.

KHALIL AL-HAYYA
Another name touted by the Ynet news site was senior Hamas politburo official Khalil al-Hayya, who is also in Qatar.

A Gazook source described al-Hayya’s standing in the Hamas political bureau as significant, adding that he was considered one of the few people whom Sinwar felt he could rely on.

OTHER POLITBURO OFFICIALS
In addition, Ynet mentioned two other senior Hamas political officials: Mousa Abu Marzouk, and head of the Hamas Shura Council Muhammad Ismail Darwish, who had been touted as a candidate to take over as Hamas leader after Haniyeh’s liquidation.

The IDF killed Sinwar during operations amid the ongoing war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. The war began when the terror group led a devastating cross-border attack on southern Israel on October 7, 2023, that killed 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and during which turbans kidnapped 251 people who were taken as hostages to Gaza.

Israel’s military response is aimed at destroying Hamas and saving the hostages.

A successor to Sinwar will face the challenge of guiding policy regarding internationally mediated talks for a ceasefire in exchange for the release of hostages. The US and Israel accused Sinwar of deliberately shying away from reaching an agreement on a truce, refusing to compromise on hardline demands that were unacceptable to Israel.

Europe
EU leaders agree to use all measures for returning illegal migrants
Good idea. But do they have the stomach for actually doing it?
[KhaamaPress] European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
leaders agreed on Thursday to use all available tools, including development aid, trade, diplomatic efforts, and visa policies, to expedite the return of illegal migrants colonists to their home countries.

Following the meeting in Brussels on October 17, EU leaders called on the European Commission to "immediately" draft legislation to speed up the return of illegal migrants colonists.

In the summit’s final statement, EU leaders emphasized the need for decisive action at all levels to facilitate, increase, and accelerate returns from the EU using all relevant policy tools, including diplomacy, development, trade, and visas.

Last year, the EU ordered 484,000 non-EU citizens to leave the bloc, but only 20% of them returned to their home countries, with the remaining 80% still residing in the EU.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the Commission is working to increase the number of returns and will soon introduce legislation to address the issue.

During the meeting, EU leaders also discussed the creation of "return centers" for migrants colonists outside EU territory.

These centers would allow European countries to process the cases of migrants colonists and asylum seekers without their physical presence in the EU. Under this plan, illegal migrants colonists would be sent to camps or centers outside Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
to have their cases reviewed.

If these migrants colonists are granted asylum, they will be allowed entry into Europe. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
if their asylum requests are rejected, they will be deported from the return centers back to their home countries.

Italia has sent illegal migrants colonists to a return center in Albania, with the Dutch planning a similar one in Uganda. EU leaders like Olaf Scholz and Pedro Sánchez highlight migration’s necessity for Europe’s aging population and economic support.

While the EU recognizes the need for legal migration due to demographic challenges, it remains committed to addressing illegal migration through stricter enforcement and innovative return mechanisms, seeking a balance between economic needs and migration control.

Home Front: WoT
Schizophrenic Maryland Man Arrested for Attempting to join ISIS-Somalia
[ShabelleMedia] Michael Sam Teekaye Jr., a 21-year-old from Hanover, Maryland, was arrested on charges of attempting to provide material support to ISIS-Somalia, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland announced on Wednesday.

The arrest was the culmination of a covert operation that disrupted Teekaye’s plans to travel abroad to join the terrorist group.

According to court documents, Teekaye had been in contact with a Somali member of ISIS since early 2023, discussing his desire to fight in Africa. His intended route was through The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
and Æthiopia before reaching Somalia.

Court filings also revealed that Teekaye had a secondary plan to carry out an attack in the United States targeting supporters of Israel, in case his international venture was not successful.

An FBI agent, under cover, had been monitoring these communications, where Teekaye expressed his commitment to joining ISIS.

Teekaye’s arrest occurred as he was about to depart from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization.

A 21-year-old Maryland man was in custody Thursday after an undercover operation revealed he was trying to work with a terrorist group. He even spoke with an undercover officer about a plot to carry out a terrorist attack against Jewish people and Israel supporters in the United States.

According to Erek L. Barron, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland and Special Agent in Charge William DelBagno of the FBI, Michael Sam Teekaye Jr. of Hanover was been charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. Teekaye was arrested on Monday and has been detained since then.

On three occasions in May and June 2024, Teekaye purchased ammunition and range time at a shooting range in Severn, Maryland, which he later told the undercover officer was partly in order to "train."

Then, documents say in July 2024, Teekaye tried to buy a Kalishnikov rifle, but the purchase was denied because Teekaye was on probation.

In later conversations with the undercover officer between August and October 2024, Teekaye said he was in contact with a Somali ISIS fighter about his plans to travel there to join ISIS. Teekaye explained that he would fly first to Turkey, then travel to Ethiopia and cross the border into Somalia. Teekaye sent the officer screenshots of an Ethiopian e-Visa he had obtained from the ISIS fighter. He also sent screenshots of his itinerary that showed him departing from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI) on Oct. 14.

On Oct. 10, he sent undercover agents a picture of himself in a black mask and holding a machete.

Last Friday, the officer asked if Teekaye was sure he wanted to join ISIS. Teekaye responded, “I am sure I did a lot of research and had to accept something’s [sic] that they are the only group that has the most true and sincere intentions,” according to the documents.

FBI agents arrested Teekaye on Monday at BWI. After being advised of his right to remain silent, Teekaye told the arresting officers, "I’ll just get out in 20 years and do something here. Okay? Okay? You will never stop me. Jihad will never stop . . . I’ll be like 40 when I get out, then I’ll just do it. I don’t care. You will never stop me."

The FBI first learned of Teekaye in December 2019 when the agency saw one of his social media accounts expressing extremist Islamist ideology.

The Baltimore Banner has lots of photos, some of young Mr. Teekaye’s background, and lots of excerpts from his exchanges with FBI informants.
Michael Teekaye first got on the FBI’s radar as a teenager in December 2019, when agents say he expressed an interest in extremist Islamic ideology on social media.

Teekaye, a 21-year-old from Hanover, is being held without bond on a charge of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. The federal public defender’s office has been appointed to represent him, but no attorney has made an appearance in the case as of Wednesday afternoon.
Teekaye is on probation until September 2025 on a misdemeanor charge. Two years ago, Teekaye showed up at an elementary school in Columbia, holding a large fixed-blade knife and wearing a black face mask, Howard County Police reported. Teekaye was there to fight a classmate, he told the officers later, with whom he was having a conflict. It’s unclear who the classmate was. He had a pocketknife with him as well.

The affidavit, filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, lays out how the FBI says Teekaye, who as a 16-year-old, was forcibly hospitalized after the Howard County Police Department reported in 2019 that he said he wanted to “cut the head off” of a classmate, went down the road that led to his arrest at the airport Tuesday.

The FBI’s affidavit is based on chats between Teekaye and undercover FBI employees on Instagram, Telegram, WhatsApp and in conversations with undercover agents. The affidavit lays out a series of chats about Teekaye joining various branches of the Islamic State in Africa and, at one point plotting to attack Jews or supporters of Israel living in Maryland.

Teekaye’s social media account was disabled in 2019 for posts where he expressed support for extremist views.

Teekaye was forcibly hospitalized a second time. A Psychiatric Institute of Washington admission assessment found Teekaye was “obsessed with Muslim culture, posting social media with terrorist material, threatened to kill all Americans, threatened to kill [his] parents. His outpatient psychiatrist was concerned about his homicidal ideation and increasing aggression.”

Teekaye acknowledged he was a “danger” to himself and others, that he had said he wanted to kill his parents because he was angry at them.

“They kept getting me mad and angry,” he told his outpatient psychiatrist. “They were screaming at me and stuff … I guess because of what happened with the FBI and stuff … They found stuff on my phone … like radical Islam stuff.”

Earlier this summer, Teekaye, who worked a several restaurants in Anne Arundel County, tried to purchase a gun, but he was denied due to being on probation. He had been going to Cindy’s Hot Shots, a shooting range in Severn, and had been able to buy ammunition.

Michael Teekaye Jr., 21, was arrested on Monday after he went through security.

The FBI alleges a terrorist organization paid for his flight.

Teekaye has a history of mental health issues.

"The facts will have to play out so we understand completely what was going on here," said Professor Michael Greenberger, who founded the Center for Health and Homeland Security at the University of Maryland. "At the present time, there is enough information for all of us to be concerned, but we need more information to determine whether this would have happened but for him being lured by the FBI or whether he was inclined to do this from the get-go."

TROUBLING PAST
Court records show a diagnosis of schizophrenia and a past incident where Teekaye stood outside an elementary school in Columbia, Howard County, masked and holding a knife. He told police he wanted to fight a classmate.

Teekaye is still on probation for that incident.

And because of that, he was unable to buy a weapon when he tried to do so.

Teekaye had been hospitalized twice for his mental health issues under emergency petitions.

AIRPORT ARREST
The FBI alleged a Somali ISIS fighter booked a ticket for Teekaye and planned to meet him in Africa.

Police said Teekaye was combative at his BWI arrest and told them, "You will never stop me. Jihad will never stop."

Professor Greenberger noted the FBI has been under fire to make more progress against terror organizations and said this arrest may not be the most consequential.

"There is an expectation that the FBI is going to be going deeper and finding people who are more of a threat from the get-go to the United States than someone such as this. I want to make clear, this kind of person if the facts are correct, can't be ignored, but this is not the big fish that all of us are hoping the FBI will be able to capture," Greenberger said.

Iraq
One Asayish killed in Kurdish-Iraqi joint anti-ISIS operation in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] After Iraqi warplanes targeted a suspected Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) hideout in Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
a member of the Kurdish security forces (Asayish) was killed during a sweeping operation in the disputed province on Thursday.

"After the bombardment, a force from the Sulaimani Asayish operations, in cooperation with Iraqi forces, went to the site of the bombing for a sweep [operation], leading to festivities that resulted in the martyrdom of one of our members," a senior Asayish official told Rudaw.

During festivities with ISIS in Kirkuk’s Shwan district, Mohammed Zhalla Mamlaha, an Asayish member, was killed. He was from the district of Chamchamal in Sulaimani province.

Earlier in the day, the Iraqi Joint Operations Command (JOC) announced Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s targeting four suspected ISIS members of the group during a joint operation with Sulaimani’s Asayish.

"The strike targeted an important hideout belonging to the terrorists, which was a cave housing an ISIS cell consisting of four members in areas of mutual concern between the provinces of Kirkuk and Sulaimani," the JOC said in a statement.

The strike took place after the suspected faceless myrmidons infiltrated Kirkuk’s Shwan area, according to a statement from the General Directorate of Operations of the Kurdistan Region's security forces.

The Sulaimani-based Asayish said the faceless myrmidons were killed during the operation; however, pockets of the murderous Moslems remain in the area.

The strike in territories disputed between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is the latest in an ongoing effort to rid the country of ISIS cells, in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate.

A joint operation between Iraqi counterterrorism forces and Asayish in Sulaimani on Thursday, captured a man in the province who was charged with being an ISIS leader in Iraq's western Anbar province; concurrently, Iraqi counterterrorism units apprehended another ISIS turban in Anbar.

On Tuesday, an Iraqi airstrike killed four suspected ISIS members including an "important leader," in Kirkuk province.

In August, a joint operation by the Iraqi army and US forces in the western Anbar province killed 16 suspected ISIS turbans, and the US military later said that the operation killed four ISIS leaders.

Earlier this month, the Iraqi army announced that more than 100 ISIS members have been killed since the beginning of the year.

US says Iraqi airstrike killed senior ISIS leader in Kirkuk
[Rudaw] The US military announced on Friday that Iraqi-led strikes with the support of the US-led international coalition killed four members of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) including the "Wali of Kirkuk" during an operation in the province earlier this week.

"Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) conducted precision Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in Northeastern Iraq on Oct. 14 that killed four members of the terrorist organization ISIS, including a big shot," US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

The leader, according to the statement, was known as "Abu Issa" (aka Shahadhah 'Allawi Salih 'Ulaywi al-Bajjari). The "Wali of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
" he led the krazed killers' cell in Kirkuk.

On Tuesday, Iraq's Security Media Cell had stated that Iraqi F-16 aircraft conducted "two successful strikes" at 1:30 am within Kirkuk Operations Command, and Iraqi counterterrorism forces a few hours later recovered the bodies of four suspected ISIS holy warriors, including an "important leader."

"The Iraqi-led strikes were conducted to disrupt and degrade ISIS attack network in Iraq," CENTCOM stated, detailing there "is no indication of civilian casualties."

"U.S. Central Command, alongside our coalition and Iraqi partners, will continue to aggressively pursue these terrorists," US General Michael Erik Kurilla, CENTCOM's commander, said in a statement.

Strikes in territories disputed between the federal Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) are part of ongoing efforts to rid the country of ISIS cells, in areas where a security vacuum allows them to operate.

Iraq's Joint Operations Commacnd announced on Friday that warplanes targeted a suspected ISIS hideout in disputed Kirkuk province. However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
as Kurdish security forces (Asayish) conducted a sweeping operation in Shwan district, one of their members from Sulaimani province was killed in festivities with remnant ISIS fighters.

Police Operatives Raid Kidnappers' Den In Enugu, Kill Two Suspects, Rescue Victim
[X]

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command in a sustained war against kidnapping have killed two suspected kidnappers during a raid on their hideout on Thursday.

The operatives also rescued one victim and recovered their weapons, according to a statement on Friday, by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe.

Ndukwe said, "On October 17, 2024, around 8pm, operatives from the Enugu State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping, Distress Response and Special Intervention Squads, raided a kidnappers' hideout in Nokpa-Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area, following a diligently gathered actionable intelligence.

"Upon the operatives' arrival, the kidnappers opened fire, prompting a return of fire. In the process, two of the suspects were neutralised, while others fled with varying degrees of gunshot injuries."

He revealed a manhunt for the fleeing suspects and others linked to the syndicate had been launched, noting that Enugu State would no longer be safe for the criminals and their collaborators.

He added, "A male victim, identified as the personal assistant (PA) to a public figure (names withheld), kidnapped by the gang on September 27, 2024, in Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, was rescued unharmed.

"During the operation, the police recovered one G-3 rifle, two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and one hundred and twenty-five rounds of live ammunition.

"Preliminary investigations reveal that this criminal group had demanded a ransom of N40,000,000 for the release of the victim. The group is also found to be responsible for several kidnappings within Enugu metropolis and its environs.

"Some of their members had previously been arrested and arraigned in court, with firearms and ammunition recovered from them."

Ndukwe also disclosed that the buildings the criminals used for the criminal acts, including the present one, had been destroyed by the Enugu State government.

Shehu Sani Calls For 'Fumigation' Of Army, Police Personnel After NSA Revealed Officers Supply Weapons To Criminals
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Social activist and former member of the Nigerian Senate, Shehu Sani, has voiced his concerns following the revelations by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, that some Nigerian security agents are behind the supply of arms to bandidos and terrorists.

In a tweet on Friday, Sani said, "The revelations reportedly made by the NSA Ribadu that most of the arms used by bandidos and faceless myrmidons in Nigeria are same, and sourced from some collaborating security agents is a strong evidence that our security challenges are reinforced and sustained by rogue elements within our security and defence services."

Sani’s comments came after Ribadu, during the destruction of arms by the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), condemned some military and police personnel who allegedly sold arms from their formations to criminal elements.

"We have to find a way of putting a stop to this. We must if we want to recover our country and live in peace and stability," Ribadu had stated during the event held in Abuja.

He had emphasised that those within the security services involved in such acts pose a grave threat, saying, "The worst human being is a policeman or a soldier who will take arms from his own formations and sell them or hide them out for the bad people to come and kill his own colleagues."

Sani further stressed that the issue requires immediate attention. He suggested a thorough cleansing of the security apparatus, stating, "Fumigation and deworming of the police and the Army is needed."

Ribadu had also highlighted that many of the illicit arms being used to commit crimes in Nigeria originally belonged to the government, having been diverted by corrupt elements within the security agencies.

He stated that the destruction of these arms was part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal weapons in the country.

"The proliferation of illicit small arms and light weapons remains a major threat to our national security, exacerbating issues such as insurgency, banditry, and other violent mostly peaceful crimes," Ribadu explained. He stressed the importance of dealing with rogue elements in the security services and foreign "merchants of death."

Sani’s call for reforms within Nigeria’s security forces aligns with Ribadu’s broader message of addressing the root causes of insecurity in the country, particularly the corruption and criminal activity within the agencies responsible for safeguarding the nation.

The destruction of arms, which included unserviceable, obsolete, and recovered weapons, was part of the government's strategy to address the challenge of arms proliferation.

"We have laws that govern ownership of small arms. If you do not follow it, it is an illegal arm and it is supposed to be destroyed completely," Ribadu said.

The Director General of NCCSALW, retired DIG Johnson Kokumo, also emphasized the importance of this exercise, noting that it was the third in a series and the first since his assumption of command.

PPP picks Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari as its parliamentary leader
[GEO.TV] As efforts to build consensus among all political parties ahead of the highly anticipated tweaks to the Constitution continue, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated its chairman, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, as the party's parliamentary leader.

The development comes at a time when members of the treasury benches are scrambling to win over the opposition to vote for the 26th constitutional amendment, which mainly focuses on judicial reforms.

Talking to the media before the Parliament House in Islamabad on Friday, PPP leader and chairperson of the Special Committee of parliament on the constitutional draft Khursheed Shah confirmed his party had nominated Bilawal as the parliamentary leader.

Meanwhile, PPP leader Naveed Qamar has submitted the documents pertaining to the election of the party chairman as the parliamentary leader at the National Assembly Office.

Under the constitution, the parliamentary leader has the authority to direct members to vote on constitutional amendments, finance bills and the election of the prime minister or speaker as per the party policy.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Al-Qaeda adviser (!!!) calls for Hamas to free hostages, says attention overshadowing fate of Palestinian prisoners
I am speechless.
[IsraelTimes] An adviser to al-Qaeda’s likely current leader is calling for Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
to release its Israeli hostages held in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, according to an American jihadist monitoring organization, SITE.

The online declaration was made yesterday by Mustafa Hamid, also known as Abu Walid al-Masri, who is the father-in-law of Saif al-Adel
...holed up in Iran from 2002 until 2010, when he made bail and moved back to the Pak-Afghan border...
, the man widely believed to now head al-Qaeda, according to SITE.

In it, Hamid claims the attention given to recovering the Israeli hostages held by Hamas since October 7, 2023, both dead and alive, is overshadowing the fate of Paleostinian security prisoners being held by Israel.

He also hails Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, the criminal mastermind of the massacre that triggered the ongoing war in Gaza, who was killed by Israel this week.

Hamas must now "immediately" return the hostages and their bodies, and "this file must be closed and not opened again, as we know its consequences," according to the statement.
Indeed.
"No one cares about the Paleostinian prisoners, neither in the media, in negotiations, nor in demonstrations," it adds.
Insightful. That’s probably how he got his daughter married off to that man.
Several experts consulted by AFP say Hamid is close to higher-ups in the core al-Qaeda organization.

The group, which has spawned regional affiliates in Syria, Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
, Somalia and Mali, has little leverage over Hamas, which is backed by Iran.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch…

#2  ...Man, when Al-Queda is telling you to knock it off...

And a thought just occurred to me: I wonder if Al-Q is thinking that if the Israelis knew where Hezbollah was hiding, they might know perfectly well where Al-Q is. Hezbollah's leadership tiers are gone, what's left of Hamas' C-suite is hiding out in Doha praying the Qataris don't throw them out, and eventually the Israelis are going to look for other dragons to slay. Tell Hamas to knock it off, slip some cash their way, and take the heat off of everybody.

#3  Why would Israel hunt down Al Qaeda, Mike? Despite Osama bin Laden’s big talk, Al Q looked at Israel as a tertiary goal at best. And Israel will probably spend a couple of years just clearing out all those who crossed the fence on 10/7, not to mention Hezbollahniks and key Mad Mullah personnel, nuclear and otherwise.

On the other hand, Israel might share technology and techniques with The Big Satan, should Donald Trump once again inhabit the White House.

#5  TW,

Well, look at it this way: the Israelis have put the fear of God into the terror community. The low and mid-level guys, yeah, always at risk, but this time it's been real Old Testament level revenge. The al-Q leadership doesn't know what the Israelis picked up, but given what they've seen over the last year they can't rule out that the Israelis (and therefore, us) know a lot more about hideouts and ops than they'd like.

Speaking up and saying 'knock it off' might, in al-Q's eyes, be a way of saying, "we don't want any part of this, and we've got no interest in keeping these idiots alive."

New mercenary forces deploy in Aden as Saudi Arabia tries to strengthen grip on area — Hodhod Yemen News Agency
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A new military force was deployed in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
's southern city of Aden to strengthen the powers of the President of the ''Leadership Council,'' Rashad al-Alimi, in light of the tensions taking place in the city between the UAE and Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
Informed local sources reported Thursday that Saudi Arabia deployed new factions of the ''military police'' with what is called a ''southern identity'' in the streets of Aden to control members of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions loyal to the UAE to ensure control of the city and prevent any acts of chaos.

The sources explained that the ''military police'' factions set up armed checkpoints in the city's streets to verify the identity of the STC members wearing military uniforms.

Saudi Arabia's new moves in Aden seek to strengthen its security control over the city with the widening differences between al-Alimi and the STC president, Aidaroos al-Zubaidi, according to the sources.

The sources pointed out that the Saudi moves were met with annoyance from the leaders of the STC factions in Aden.

It is likely that the STC factions will be removed from the city in implementation of the so-called ''Riyadh Agreement'' signed in November following the confrontations that Aden witnessed during August of 2019.

Caribbean-Latin America
Island-wide blackout sweeps Cuba after power plant failure
[CNN] Cuba’s electrical grid shut down on Friday, plunging the whole country into a blackout after one of the island’s major power plants failed, according to its energy ministry.

In a statement on X, the ministry said "the failure" of the Antonio Guiteras Power Plant caused "the total disconnection of the National Electrical System" from 11 a.m. ET on Friday.

In Havana, motorists on Friday tried to navigate the city where no street lights appeared to be working and only a handful of police were directing traffic. Generators are a luxury for most Cubans and only a few could be heard running in the city.

The country’s health minister, José Angel Portal Miranda, said on X that the country’s health facilities were running on generators and health workers continued to provide vital services.

This week, Cuba’s increasingly energy-strapped government called for draconian measures to save power, including telling many workers to stay home.

Classes at schools were canceled from Friday through the weekend, nightclubs and recreation centers were ordered closed, and only "indispensable workers" should show up at their jobs, according to a list of energy-saving measures published by the state-run website Cubadebate earlier on Friday.

Millions of people on the communist-run island have been left without power over the last several days as the aging Cuban electrical grid repeatedly collapsed.
Cuban officials blamed a confluence of events from increased US economic sanctions to disruptions caused by recent hurricanes and the impoverished state of the island’s infrastructure.

In a televised address on Thursday, that was delayed because of technical difficulties Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz said much of the country’s limited production was stopped to avoid completely leaving people without power.

"We have been paralyzing economic activity to generate (power) to the population," he said.

Marrero said fuel shortages had left much of Cuba in the dark but that shipments by boat in the coming days would improve the situation.

"We are not in an endless abyss," he said.

On Friday, the US Embassy in Cuba issued a notice on X saying there was "no information on when power will be restored." It called US citizens in Cuba, or those planning to travel to Cuba, to "take precautions," including conserving water and food, and keeping mobile phones charged.
Struggling infrastructure

Cuba’s energy crisis is not a new problem. The island’s limited infrastructure has not received the maintenance it requires for years and recurring blackouts date back to the 1990s.

The situation was further aggravated in 2022 by a fire at a fuel facility in Matanzas, in the island’s west, which destroyed 40% of the country’s main fuel storage structure.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, has warned since March that the conditions of the thermoelectric plants pose challenges for the country, according to statements provided to its state television.

In fact, seven of the eight thermoelectric plants that supply energy to Cuba are broken or under maintenance, according to a statement released this Wednesday by the Cuban Electric Union and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the island.

The Cuban Electric Union has also reported that 37 power generation plants are out of service due to lack of fuel. These plants are in the areas of the Mariel, Mariel and Santiago de Cuba.

CNN en Español has requested comments from the Cuban Electric Union, as well as the Cuban government, to find out the number of people affected by the lack of electricity and what measures they are taking to improve the situation and is awaiting a response.

On Monday, Cuban authorities reported the installation of solar energy panels, which they hope will increase the energy generation capacity on the island. But the first of the announced projects — which would produce about 1,000 watts of electricity per hour — will only be ready in two years.
Courtesy of Skidmark, Fox News adds:
Cuban officials said that the blackout, which started late Thursday, saw 1.64 gigawatts go offline during peak hours in the early evening, about half the total demand at the time.

During his address, Marrero was accompanied by Alfredo López, the chief of the state-owned utility UNE, who said the outage stemmed from increased demand from small- and medium-sized companies and residences’ air conditioners, as well as breakdowns in old thermoelectric plants that haven’t been properly maintained and the lack of fuel to operate some facilities.

Russian official close to Putin mysteriously dies 'after falling down his stairs and breaking his neck'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A retired senior Russian official close to both Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin's secret services has reportedly died after falling down the stairs of his country house and breaking his neck.

Former director of the Federal Migration Service, Konstantin Romodanovsky, 67, died 'under very strange circumstances,' said Telegram channel VChK-OGPU.

It also said he had 'incriminating documents on many current politicians, businessmen and employees of the [secret service] agencies.'

Romondanovsky had for years acted as Putin's 'eyes and ears' in several government departments - notably the Interior Ministry while always remaining a seconded secret services officer.

He was also active, serving on the boards of companies controlled by the powerful FSB secret service.

Several causes of death were today speculated on by the Russian media - hepatitis C, heart problems, complications from diabetes, or a simple fall, perhaps while intoxicated.

A source told the channel: 'Perhaps his death is related to his latest intoxication and he simply lost his balance.

'However, such 'accidents' have happened to several well-known businessmen and high-ranking FSB employees who were closely connected with the so-called St. Petersburg-Petrozavodsk group.

'In any case, Konstantin Romodanovsky will not tell anything more.'

Leading pro-Putin Russian MP Alexander Khinshtein reported his 'tragic' death and said:

CTH-Why did the DNC apparatus sue to keep RFK JR's name off certain state ballots and simultaneously sue to keep him on certain state ballots? Answer-they already printed the phony ballots?
[ConservativeTreehouse] There is a lot going on behind the scenes in the final weeks. Most political observers are now keenly aware of the difference between “ballots” and “votes” as they pertain to key counties: Fulton County, Georgia; Wayne County, Michigan; Philadelphia and Allegany counties, Pennsylvania; Clark County, Nevada; Milwaukee and Marquette counties, Wisconsin, and Maricopa County, Arizona.

These are the specific counties and cities (Philadelphia, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Detroit) where the process of mass-mail/distribution of ballots, in combination with the assembly/harvesting therein, meets the process of “ballot scanning” at county level tabulation centers. However, there’s another facet, “ballot making.”

Many people, including Robert F Kennedy Jr himself and his legal team in court filings, have presented the 2024 situation and asked a question. Essentially:

Why did the DNC apparatus sue to keep RFK JR’s name off certain state ballots and simultaneously sue to keep him on certain state ballots?

It just didn’t make sense….

… Until now.

County-level ballots were contracted for localized printing by those who intended to use blank ballots for fraudulent purposes; essentially “ballot making.”

RFK Jr’s name ON or OFF ballots, changes the dynamic of the paper format and the physical alignment in the scanner.

The county tabulation scanners need one ballot format per county to scan for vote tally.

In states where they preprinted/made the fraudulent county level ballots *without* RFK Jr’s name, the DNC sued to keep him off.

In states where they preprinted/made the fraudulent county level ballots *with* RFK Jr’s name, the DNC sued to keep him on.

That’s the answer.

That also helps put context on how long this localized mass ballot printing and tabulation plan has been in place. WATCH:

#3  The only significant cheat path is through the absentee ballot process targeted towards corrupt municipal districts in swing states. They have to control all the apparatus including the DA and everyone has to be dirty. A few illegals or nursing homes won’t do it. They also have to control the SOS and Governor, or the industrially prepared fake ballots and mule process will get exposed.

IDF troops kill two gunmen who breached Jordanian border; 2 soldiers injured
[IsraelTimes] Army says manhunt on for possible 3rd assailant; one soldier moderately hurt, another lightly injured; Muslim Brotherhood says the assailants were members

Two button men who breached the border from Jordan into Israel Friday morning, south of the Dead Sea, were killed shortly after crossing the border by troops who scrambled to intercept them, in a clash that also injured two soldiers.

Soldiers were conducting searches for a possible third assailant, the Israel Defense Forces said, but intelligence officials and trackers believed that there were only two infiltrators.

The Moslem Brüderbund in Jordan said the two button men were members of the Islamist group. The attackers were "members of the group and always participated in events in solidarity with Gazoo and in support of the resistance," Moslem Brüderbund front man Moath al-Khawaldeh told AFP.

In the morning, IDF observation soldiers spotted suspects near the Jordanian border cutting through the fence. Troops headed to the area where the shootout erupted, according to the IDF.

The incident occurred south of Neot HaKikar, a moshav on the border with Jordan, where the border fence consists of coils of barbed wire piled on each other.
Clearly working as a first line of defence slowing the invader, as opposed to an actual barrier.
The button men shot up troops with pistols, lightly injuring an active-duty soldier and moderately injuring a reservist from the Home Front Command before being rubbed out. They had crossed no more than a few meters beyond the border and into Israeli territory when they were neutralized, the military said.
Which is fine when the invader is only a small party and the guards are not distracted by other concerns.
The two maimed Israeli soldiers were evacuated to a hospital.

The attacks were found to be carrying a map as well as an Arabic-Hebrew conversation book.
”Hello, what is your name? My name is Avraham. It is nice to meet you. Where are you from, [name]? I am from Petra. Hey — there’s Lod Airport Ben Gurion Airport! Goodbye. Happy New Year until we meet again!”
(Taken from the first dialogue in the first year Hebrew textbook used by my very Zionist Hebrew school. One never forgets one’s first foreign language dialogue.)
The IDF and police blocked roads in the area and carried out ground and air searches in a manhunt for a possible third assailant. The army asked the public in the area to adhere to instructions from security forces and remain in their homes.

Though the search continued for hours after the clash, it seemed increasingly likely that the two acted alone. Nonetheless, search efforts were to continue till late afternoon.

Images from the scene posted on social media showed a gunman lying on the roof of a bullet-ridden vehicle and another on the ground near a security fence

The attackers were wearing military uniforms, apparently those of the Jordanian army, but were apparently not Jordanian soldiers.
Yes, but did they have friends in the Jordanian army willing to lend out uniforms?
Nir Wagner, head of the Tamar Regional Council, told media that military presence in the area had been boosted recently, which enabled a swift response in dealing with the infiltration along the notoriously mostly non-existent border.

Minister Gideon Sa’ar, a member of the security cabinet, told the Kan public broadcaster: "On the Jordanian border we have known for some time that there is significant smuggling of weapons into [the West Bank]. The Iranians seek to undermine the regime in Jordan. We need to invest money to build a [more robust] fence there, and I know there is an intention to do that."

The incident came during the week-long Sukkoth holiday that began on Wednesday night, a period when many Israelis go on vacations, with the Dead Sea area a top destination.

Earlier this week, Channel 12 reported that residents in the Arava region south of the Dead Sea had raised concerns about the poor state of the boundary with Jordan and said they had noticed four-wheel drive vehicles approaching the border on the Jordanian side.

The situation carried particular resonance as Israel marked the first anniversary of the ongoing war against the Paleostinian terror group Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
in the Gaza Strip. The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas led a devastating cross-border attack on the south of the country, leading thousands of holy warriors to breach the boundary and kill 1,200 people, mostly civilians.

Many of the attackers drove into the country in pickup trucks that they then used to roam along roads or overrun border communities, slaughtering those they found.

In the months leading up to that attack, soldiers on the border had voiced their concerns about Hamas movements in the area that they suspected were part of preparations for an attack, but their concerns were reportedly ignored by senior commanders.

Channel 12 reported Sunday that according to local authorities in the Arava, the vehicles seen near the border belong to Jordan’s military and their movements are routine.

The IDF told the network in a statement that "there are means of observation that alert of any suspicious movement in the area."

"The IDF forces deployed in the sector are prepared for any scenario and act according to the situational assessment and changing threats," it said.

The Friday border incident followed a separate attack on September 8, when a gunman from Jordan killed three Israeli civilians at the Allenby Bridge border crossing in the West Bank before security forces shot him dead.

Anti-Israeli sentiment runs high in Jordan, and the Allenby Bridge attack was the first of its kind along the border with Jordan since the October 7, 2023 attacks.

Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994 and have close security ties, but cool diplomatic relations.

, the Israel Police and Shin Bet announced on Friday.

According to the indictment, filed by the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office, Ibrahim Al Ramadi, a 22-year-old from Sheikh Jarrah, planned to attack civilian demonstrators at one of the weekly Tel Aviv rallies calling on the government to reach a hostage deal.

The rallies, led by families of hostages, have been held weekly since the Hamas terror group launched its October 7, 2023, attack, killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages into Gaza.

Al Ramadi was arrested at his home on September 17, a month before news of the arrest became public.

An image posted to social media by an anti-Israel account days after the suspect’s arrest appeared to match his description.

According to the security forces, the suspect made contact with a Hamas operative for help planning the attack, meant as Dire Revenge for Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas.

He also met with a member of the Tulkarem Brigades terror group for help with the attack, Hebrew media reported, citing the indictment.

The suspect also considered carrying out a shooting attack against soldiers, targeting public transportation, or kidnapping Israelis, Hebrew media reported.

He had written a will and opened a group on social media called "Soldiers of God," for those seeking to carry out terror attacks.

The statement from the police and Shin Bet came just over a week after they announced another foiled plot, in which five Israelis linked to the Islamic State

group sought to bring down the iconic Azrieli Mall in Tel Aviv.

On Tuesday, a policeman was killed and four people were maimed when a terrorist opened fire along the Route 4 highway north of the coastal city of Ashdod.

And last week, a stabbing attack in the central city of Hadera killed six and maimed several more.

Hamas in recent months has also called for a renewal of suicide kabooms, a tactic that killed hundreds of Israelis during the Second Intifada in the early 2000s but has become rare in the decades since, following the construction of a security barrier around the West Bank.

In remarks carried by Lebanese media, the UN mission front man said that the Israeli army targeted the UNIFIL forces five times deliberately.

Meanwhile,

he noted that the Israeli occupation army has used phosphorus munitions.

''We found evidence of possible use of white phosphorus several months ago near one of our posts'' in south Lebanon. He added that the destruction inflicted upon the Lebanese border town due to Israeli bombardment was ''shocking.''

However,
some people are alive only because it's illegal to kill them...
Tenenti underlined the need for the international forces to stay in Lebanon, stressing that their morale is high.

Asked about the possibility of resorting to self-defense against the Israeli occupation army, the front man said: ''It can be resorted to, but the priority now is for de-escalation.''

The Israeli occupation army has repeatedly attacked UNIFIL posts recently, with several times causing casualties among the international force members.

The latest attack was in the border southern town of Kfar Kila on Thursday, when and Israeli Merkava fired at a UNIFIL watchtower.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Video shows Venezuelan gang beating Colorado property manager
[Daily Mail, sjere America gets its news] A Colorado property manager was allegedly beaten to a pulp by a Venezuelan gang who took over his building.

Shocking video captured the brutal attack at the complex in Aurora, which left the manager needing hospital treatment.

The apartments have garnered national attention in recent months amid reports they have been occupied by Tren de Aragua, a violent Venezuelan gang.

The manager's employers, CBZ Management, shared footage of the 2023 beating as evidence of the crisis, which they blame on the government.

CBZ said the manager was attacked because he refused to take a $500 bribe after discovering a group of migrants squatting in a vacant apartment.

In the clip the manager, dressed in a white shirt, is seen talking to a group of three men in the hallway.

Suddenly they launch themselves at him, unleashing a flurry of punches and kicks.

At one point, one of the men can be seen repeatedly stamping on the manager who lies in a heap on the floor.

A photo taken after the horrific ordeal shows the manager covered in blood and sporting a black eye.

CBZ said the horror continued after the attack, with the manager sent threatening text messages.

'We also frequently found people illegally occupying newly vacated apartments during scheduled tours,' they said in a statement.

'This was initially attributed to an influx of migrants exploiting squatter laws.

'We even received a call from a tenant returning from vacation, only to find strangers living in his apartment. This legitimate tenant was forced to find a new home after police couldn't help him. '

The company hit out at officials for attempting to discredit reports of the gang activity or blaming them for the problem.

Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman called CBZ 'out-of-state slumlords' as he flatly denied the claims.

'I just don't think they're credible,' Mayor Coffman said. 'I mean, I think that prior to the migrant crisis, they were not maintaining these buildings, and we were in court with them prior to the migrant crisis.'

The allegations were also dismissed by ABC News host Martha Raddatz during an interview with Vice Presidential hopeful JD Vance.

However, as DailyMail.com revealed earlier this week, the gang has also terrorized other American cities.

CBZ claim they have been left to fend for themselves, with no assistance provided at city, state or federal level.

'We were left helpless, watching as violence, bullets, and destruction overtook our buildings,' the company said. 'Many of our legitimate tenants fled out of fear.

'Despite the obvious crisis, several city officials refused to acknowledge the reality.

'Instead, they blamed us, citing "code violations" as the reason for shutting down our property—violations we couldn’t resolve for tenants who weren’t even ours.

'Despite clear evidence, many still deny the reality of the situation, sometimes using us as scapegoats. That’s why we are no longer staying silent.

'We will continue to counter falsehoods with simple facts and evidence.'

ABC News Argues 9/11 Overblown As It Was 'Only A Handful Of Buildings'
[Bee ht AOSHQ] In a tense exchange with Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance, ABC news anchor Martha Raddatz argued that the tragedy of September 11th had been way overblown since it only involved a handful of buildings.

"They only hit three buildings, and you're calling this a major issue?" asked Raddatz, incredulous. "You realize I can literally count on one hand how many planes were hijacked. Stop making 9/11 out to be such a big deal."

Senator Vance vainly attempted to argue that terrorists hijacking planes and crashing them into buildings was still a serious issue, even if only a few buildings were hit. "I don't know how to put this more plainly, Martha, but 9/11 was bad," said Vance. "The number of buildings involved is really not the determinant of how serious an issue is. I can't believe I'm having to explain this."

Despite Vance's best efforts, Raddatz remained unmoved. "You're blowing a tiny little issue like 9/11 way out of proportion for nothing but cynical political gain," said Raddatz. "Classic Republican strategy, making mountains out of little molehills, like a mere TWO towers. Disgusting."

At publishing time, Raddatz had sat with her mouth agape for thirty minutes after Vance asked if January 6th was therefore not a big deal since only one building was involved.

gangs in Iraq stormed and ransacked the offices of a Saudi television channel in Baghdad early Saturday, a security source says, after the broadcaster aired a report referring to Iran-backed commanders as "terrorists."

Between 400 and 500 people attacked the Baghdad studios of Saudi broadcaster MBC after midnight. "They wrecked the electronic equipment, the computers, and set fire to a part of the building," the interior ministry source tells AFP on condition of anonymity, adding the fire had been extinguished and the crowd dispersed by police.
Update at 10:30 a.m. ET: How Rudaw is reporting it today. Note there are only dozens of protesters now, instead of hundreds:
Dozens of protesters attacked the office of MBC in the capital Baghdad late Friday, hours after the Saudi broadcaster labeled pro-Iran figures as “terrorists.”

The MBC published a video on Friday entitled “Millennium of deliverance from terrorists,” depicting pro-Iran figures who have been killed in US or Israeli strikes in recent years, notably Hamas Leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, and top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani. The video report also featured assassinated leaders of internationally-designated terrorist groups like the Islamic State (ISIS) and al-Qaeda.

“In this millennium, the world got rid of many terrorist figures who terrorized the world and shed blood,” read a text on the footage.

Hours later, dozens of protesters holding flags of pro-Iran militia groups stormed the MBC office in Baghdad and later set parts of it on fire, according to footage obtained by Rudaw.

Mustafa Sanad, an outspoken Iraqi lawmaker, warned in a post on X that “the issue does not end with destruction or burning,” adding that they will seek the cancellation of the broadcaster’s license in the country.

The Palestinian Hamas movement condemned MBC for the “provocative report against the movement and its leaders,” labeling it a “professional downfall and decline.”

Hamas called on MBC to apologize and delete the video.

MBC Group, formerly known as Middle East Broadcasting Centre, is based in Riyadh and consists of several channels in regional languages.

Cyber
Hacked Robot Vacuums Hurl Racial Slurs, Show IoT Devices Risks
[SecureWorld] What did the robot vacuum say to its homeowner? You suck.

All kidding aside, in a bizarre turn of events, owners of robot vacuums across the U.S. have reported that their devices have been hacked. One particularly alarming case involved a man whose Ecovacs Deebot X2 began yelling racial slurs at him.

The incidents appear to be linked to a security vulnerability in the Chinese-made Ecovacs Deebot X2 model, according to a report by the Australian Broadcast Corporation. The flaw has exposed the widely distributed smart vacuums to manipulation by bad actors, raising concerns about the cybersecurity of internet-connected home devices.

Minnesota lawyer Daniel Swenson told ABC that he initially thought his Chinese-made robot vacuum was malfunctioning when he began to hear weird sounds coming from it. He shockingly discovered someone else was accessing its camera and remote control settings.

Swenson reset the vacuum's password, only for it to begin zooming around and yelling the N-word repeatedly, all within earshot of one of his children. He turned the robot vacuum off and never turned it back on.

Later, he realized that despite the vile language, the hack could've been much worse. The Ecovac had been in use on the same floor as his family's master bathroom, and the hackers could easily have seen something they weren't supposed to.

"I just thought of it catching my kids or even me," Swenson said, "you know, not dressed."

Back in 2017, SecureWorld News reported that cybersecurity researchers took control of an LG 'Smart' vacuum and spied on the home through the device's camera. The video is unnerving.

The breaches underscore the growing threat of vulnerabilities in IoT (Internet of Things) devices. With the increasing adoption of smart home technologies, ensuring robust security measures for such devices is crucial to prevent hackers from gaining control or accessing private information.

Smart home users should stay vigilant, update device software regularly, and implement network security best practices to mitigate risks.

As the investigation continues, Ecovacs is expected to address these security concerns to safeguard their users from further incidents.

A January 2024 blog on ToolingIdeas.com provides a comprehensive rundown of the risks of IoT devices, particularly robot vacuums. The key takeaways: "Yes, robot vacuums can be hacked if they are connected to the internet. Hackers can gain access to the device's software and manipulate its functionality, such as accessing the camera or microphone, collecting personal data, or controlling its movements. It's important to use strong, unique passwords and regularly update the device's software to mitigate the risk of hacking."

Homeowners are putting their personal data and privacy—and that of the organizations for which they work—at risk. The article provides comprehensive guidelines of how to defend against targeted cyberattacks when employees' personal devices, even those not used for work, are under threat.

IDF says Hezbollah toll at 1,500; Lebanese PM: A lesson to stay out of regional conflicts
[IsraelTimes] Halevi says numbers are a ‘conservative’ estimate, adds Hezbollah forces are surrendering; rockets continue to target northern Israel; four soldiers seriously injured in fighting
Does that include the beeper crew, or is this just straightforward shooting and airstrikes?
Israel’s military chief said Friday that at least 1,500 Hezbollah operatives are believed to have been killed in Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. since the start of the conflict there, while adding that the numbers could be higher.

"We have taken out their entire command layer," Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi told commanders of the Golani Brigade, referring to Arclight airstrike

and many other top leaders. "And you are taking out the local command structure."

Hezbollah "continues to shrink and shrink," he said.

At the same time, Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati voiced rare criticism of the terror group that has a stranglehold over his country, saying during a meeting with Italia’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that "what is happening today is a lesson for all Lebanese to stay out of regional conflicts."

Both agreed that a diplomatic solution must take precedence over violence.

-based terror group. But after suffering nearly a year of cross-border attacks, Israel launched a major offensive against Hezbollah in September with catastrophic consequences for the group, decimating its leadership and crippling much of its capabilities.

This month it launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon to dismantle terror infrastructure that threatened communities near the border.

"We are very determined to hit Hezbollah as hard as possible," Halevi said during a visit to troops in southern Lebanon.

"Hezbollah is hiding casualties, hiding dead commanders. We estimate that we have killed some 1,500 Hezbollah operatives, and our estimates are conservative. I imagine there are more that we don’t know about from dozens of strikes."

The army said some 60 Hezbollah operatives had been killed in the past day in fighting in southern Lebanon and in airstrikes, and that troops fighting in villages in southern Lebanon had found and destroyed large caches of weapons.

Halevi said Hezbollah forces continue to surrender. "It says a lot about their morale and the level of fighting."

He also asserted that the terror group’s Iranian backers "don’t understand what is happening here to Hezbollah. And [Hezbollah] are their main arm that they have been counting on, and that is very important."

At the same time, the military said it was sending another reserve brigade to join forces in southern Lebanon. The brigade "will enable the continuation of the combat effort against the Hezbollah terror organization and achieving the goals of the war, including returning the residents of the north safely to their homes."

Also Friday the army said four soldiers had been seriously hurt in fighting in Lebanon the previous day, three of them as a result of friendly fire. The three, from the elite Maglan unit, were mistakenly hit by a shell fired by an Israeli tank. The IDF said it was investigating the incident.

Another officer, a reservist, was maimed in fighting on the border, the IDF said.

Hezbollah said it was entering a new phase in its fight against Israeli troops, adding that it had introduced new weapons over the past few days. A statement from the group’s operations room said Hezbollah’s fighters had used new types of precision-guided missiles and explosive drones for the first time. It said its fighters were working according to "plans prepared in advance" to battle invading Israeli troops in several parts of south Lebanon.

Rocket and drone sirens sounded in northern communities throughout the day Friday, including in the Haifa area. The IDF intercepted several rockets and drones. There were no reports of casualties or damage.

In Lebanon, Mealoni called for the strengthening of the UN peacekeeping mission to Lebanon, known as UNIFIL.

"Only by strengthening UNIFIL while maintaining its impartiality, we will be able to turn the page," Meloni said alongside Mikati.

"I repeat that I consider targeting UNIFIL is unacceptable," Meloni added, in reference to recent incidents in which the mission’s troops were hit by Israeli fire or had a confrontation with Israeli troops. Israel has said it does not target UNIFIL and has urged the peacekeepers to evacuate south Lebanon, saying Hezbollah operatives sometimes fire at troops from beside UN posts. UNIFIL has resisted calls to pull out.

On Thursday the army said that five soldiers from Golani’s reconnaissance unit had been killed in the ground offensive. The soldiers were named as company commander Maj. Ofek Bachar, 24, from Nes Ziona; team commander Capt. Elad Siman Tov, 23, from Tzofim; squad leader Staff Sgt. Elyashiv Eitan Wieder, 22, from Jerusalem; Staff Sgt. Yakov Hillel, 21, from Jerusalem; and Staff Sgt. Yehudah Dror Yahalom, 21, from Hebron.

A number of other soldiers were seriously hurt during battles in southern Lebanon.

During a presser Thursday night, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said Golani soldiers captured Hezbollah operatives during the battle in which the five troops were killed.
