Government Corruption
Here Are States Where The Biden-Harris Admin Blocked Efforts To Ensure Only Citizens Vote In Elections
[Federalist] American elections should be decided by Americans — which is why states across the country have taken steps to remove noncitizens from their voter rolls. But the Biden-Harris administration is stymieing these efforts with roadblocks and lawfare.
The states:
Ohio
Florida
Texas
Virginia
Alabama

OHIO
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose sued the Biden-Harris administration on Thursday alleging the Department of Homeland Security refused to provide the state with access to records from the Systematic Alien Verification and Entitlements (SAVE) database. These “records are essential to verifying the citizenship status of all Ohio voters,” as noted in a press release from the secretary of state regarding the lawsuit.

“The Biden-Harris administration is engaging in obstruction and outright abuse of power to prevent us from removing noncitizens from our voter rolls,” LaRose said in a statement. “I take my duty seriously, so if they want a fight over the integrity of our elections, they’ve got it.”

The suit alleges the administration, “on at least four separate occasions, failed to provide Ohio access to federal citizenship verification records necessary to prevent noncitizens from voting,” according to the release.

“While the administration is blocking access to these records,” LaRose added, “the Department of Justice is suing or threatening to sue multiple states, including Ohio, who are trying to enforce their citizenship voting requirements.”

FLORIDA
A similar suit was brought last week by Florida and the Florida Department of State (FDOS) against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The suit alleged the DHS denied a request to provide information necessary to verify the citizenship status of “a number of individuals” on the voter rolls “for whom FDOS had evidence of non-citizenship.” The DHS is mandated to supply such information under federal law, the plaintiffs contend.

“Because the federal government is refusing to comply with these obligations and frustrating Florida’s ability to maintain the integrity of its elections, Florida files this suit,” the lawsuit says.

TEXAS
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Tuesday he is suing the Department of Homeland Security “and other members of the Biden-Harris Administration” for not complying with “federal law requiring them to assist States in verifying the citizenship status of potentially ineligible people registered to vote.”

The suit was filed weeks after Paxton sent a letter to DHS Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Ur M Jaddou “demanding” the federal government verify the “citizenship status of people who may be illegally registered to vote in Texas,” Paxton explained in a press release announcing the suit. Attached to the letter was a “list of approximately 450,000 voters whose citizenship status has never been checked because they registered without a State of Texas-issued driver’s license or identification card,” the release continued.

“The Biden-Harris Administration has refused to comply with federal law, presenting yet another obstacle for Texas to overcome in ensuring free and fair elections in our state,” Paxton said in a statement. “The law demands that they provide important information regarding the citizenship of nearly half a million potentially ineligible voters. Since the Biden-Harris Administration has chosen to ignore the law, I will see them in court.”

VIRGINIA
Earlier this month, the DOJ sued Virginia following efforts from Gov. Glenn Youngkin and the Virginia Department of Elections (ELECT) “to ensure only eligible U.S. citizens are on the state’s voter registration lists,” as The Federalist’s Shawn Fleetwood reported.

The suit followed an August executive order from Youngkin that directed “commonwealth agencies to undertake election security efforts ahead of the November election,” The Federalist previously reported. The suit filed earlier this month alleged that specific instructions in the order violated a provision of the 1993 National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) that restricts states from using a program to “systematically” remove ineligible voters from the rolls within “90 days prior to the date” of federal elections.

On Friday, a Democrat-appointed federal judge ruled that the state must “reinstate” more than 1,500 allegedly “self-identified” noncitizens to the voter rolls less than two weeks before the November general election, as The Federalist reported.

“Let’s be clear about what just happened: only eleven days before a Presidential election, a federal judge ordered Virginia to reinstate over 1,500 individuals—who self-identified themselves as noncitizens—back onto the voter rolls,” Youngkin said in a Friday statement, adding that most of the 1500-plus individuals “had previously presented immigration documents confirming their noncitizen status, a fact recently verified by federal authorities.”

As Fleetwood noted earlier this month, the Biden-Harris Justice Department “has regularly been weaponized to target Republican-led election integrity efforts since Joe Biden became president.”

ALABAMA
Alabama was similarly sued by the Biden-Harris DOJ in September after the state discovered more than 3,000 potential noncitizens on its voter rolls.

Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen announced in August he was instructing counties to “immediately inactivate and initiate steps necessary to remove all individuals who are not United States Citizens.” He acknowledged that some individuals who were issued noncitizen ID numbers may have since been naturalized, and that these now-citizens would be allowed to update their registration information and vote in the state’s elections following verification, according to a press release.

The federal government denied “repeated requests” to “assist Allen’s efforts” by declining to provide “a list of noncitizens currently residing in Alabama,” according to the release.

The Justice Department sued the state and Secretary Allen in late September, alleging they violated the NVRA since the voter roll maintenance fell within the aforementioned 90-day period. A federal judge recently sided with the department, ordering the state to halt its effort to remove potential noncitizens from its voter rolls.

Earlier this year, Republicans sought to pass the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would have amended the NVRA to require individuals to provide documentary proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. Democrats opposed the bill, relentlessly claiming it was unnecessary because noncitizen voting is already illegal.

The SAVE Act was eventually shot down in the House, along with the government funding resolution to which it was attached. Fourteen Republicans ultimately joined the majority of House Democrats to vote against the bill in September.

Courtesy of Skidmark, Just the News reports the DoJ is going after small communities as well as states, adding:
Michael Berry, executive director of AFPI’s Center for Litigation, told Just the News last month that the DOJ should prioritize ongoing election integrity issues in larger cities, rather than paper ballot elections.

“It’s appalling that the Department of Justice is bullying and targeting a small town in rural Wisconsin over its decision to use hand-counted paper ballots,” Berry said. “I would think the United States Department of Justice has much better things to do with its time and resources, including fixing the rampant election integrity problems in many of our large cities. AFPI is proud to represent Thornapple, Wisconsin, as it stands up to the Goliath that is the Department of Justice.”

As the Justice Department has sued both Virginia and Alabama, Heritage Foundation senior legal fellow Hans von Spakovsky, who has previously served on the Federal Election Commission and in the DOJ, wrote a report on Wednesday explaining the department’s incorrect interpretation of the law regarding voter registration removals.

“No provision of the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 (NVRA), including the 90-day pre-election deadline in Section 8(c)(2), prevents states from removing aliens who have illegally registered to vote from state voter registration rolls,” von Spakovsky wrote.

“The plain text of the statute does not require states to keep an individual registered who was never eligible to be registered in the first place, and any interpretation of the NVRA that would require states to keep an alien registered to vote when both state and federal criminal laws bar an alien from registering would render the NVRA unconstitutional.”

“States have both a constitutional and statutory right—if not an obligation—to remove aliens who are ineligible to vote in both federal and state elections from their voter registration rolls,” he later added.

“The 90-day deadline for systematic removal programs applies only to removing eligible registrants who have changed their residence. It does not apply to aliens who were never eligible to register in the first place, just as it does not apply to minors, fictitious registrations, fraudulent registrations of any kind, decedents, felons, and mentally incompetent individuals. There is nothing in the NVRA to the contrary.”

If true, that meets the definition of "high crime and misdemeanor" as far as I'm concerned. It would be a hoot if a newly elected Congress would simply impeach both Biden and Harris between the start of the new Congress and 21 Jan 2025.

By modern court standards, these people may have become citizens since the licenses were issued, so their votes have to be counted, just in case...

RFK,jr. says President Trump privately funding transition team 3 months ahead of election
[X]Hattip 3dc.

… specifically about this, and I said, 'Look, the last time you were in there, you put John Bolton in charge of NSA, and Mike Pompeo in charge of the CIA... and he said, 'Here's the difference... when I got in last time, I had no idea how to govern, and I got surrounded by donors and corporate people who said you appoint this guy and appoint that guy... I appointed a lot of bad people.'

He continued, "I was listening this morning to this extraordinary interview that Donald Trump did with Joe Rogan yesterday... and he said, 'This time I'm not gonna do that.' He told us that (too), and he didn't just promise that, but he did something no other president's done before. Normally, the transition team is not created until November 6th because GAO, the General Accounting Office, pays for all the cost of the transition team. Trump said, 'I'm not gonna do it this time. I'm not gonna do it their way. I'm gonna start my own transition team three months early.' And he got private donors to fund it, and he's appointed 20 people including me and Tulsi, and there's people of all different kinds of ideology and people who we're gonna have to go up against on that transition team and fight for our vision. But I can tell you this, which is unique: there are no corporate lobbyists on that transition team. And, usually, it's 100% corporate lobbyists. So it's very, very different, and it gives me lots of hope that this government is gonna be different than any government we've ever seen."

So he'll hit the road running day one. Those that subverted the Law and civil Rights of Millions for 4 years, will be held accountable quickly.

Any Bets
I bet that the Deep State Elites and/or the LSD's try to Impeach or Lawfare him inside of 6 months of him taking office?

That is unless some sudden unseen health issue doesn't overtake him between now and Jan. 20th, 2025.

Satellite images show damage at two secretive Iranian bases after Israeli strikes
Especially for Old Patriot, and anyone else interested in images of afterward. In addition to the tweets below, there are more photos at the article links. Happy comparing!
[IsraelTimes] Attack damaged Parchin military base, previously linked to push for nuclear weapons, and Khojir base, believed to hold missile production sites; UN watchdog: Nuclear sites untouched

Israel’s attack on Iran early Saturday damaged facilities at a secretive military base southeast of the Iranian capital that experts in the past have linked to a nuclear weapons program, as well as at another base tied to its ballistic missile program, satellite photos analyzed Sunday by The Associated Press show.

Some of the buildings damaged sat in Iran’s Parchin military base, where the International Atomic Energy Agency suspects Iran in the past conducted tests of high explosives that could trigger a nuclear weapon.

The IAEA, US intelligence and others say Iran had a comprehensive nuclear weapons program that it shuttered in 2003. Iran denies having such a program, while Jerusalem says Tehran has never fully abandoned it, pointing to current uranium enrichment levels that have no civilian use.

More damage from Israel’s attack on Saturday — which was a response to an Iranian barrage of some 200 ballistic missiles earlier this month — could be seen at the nearby Khojir military base, a sprawling missile production site near Tehran that analysts believe hides an underground tunnel system and missile production sites.

Iran’s military has not acknowledged damage at either Khojir or Parchin from Israel’s attack, though it has said the assault killed four Iranian soldiers working in the country’s air defense systems.

Iran’s mission to the United Nations did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Israeli military declined to comment.

However, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday told an audience that the Israeli attack “should not be exaggerated nor downplayed,” while stopping short of calling for an immediate retaliatory strike.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu separately said Sunday that Israel’s strikes “severely harmed” Iran and that the barrage “achieved all its goals.”

DAMAGE SPREAD ACROSS THREE IRANIAN PROVINCES
It remains unclear how many sites in total were targeted in the Israeli attack. There have been no images of damage so far released by Iran’s military.

Iranian officials have identified affected areas as being in Ilam, Khuzestan and Tehran provinces. Burned fields could be seen in satellite images from Planet Labs PBC around Iran’s Tange Bijar natural gas production site in Ilam province, on the Iran-Iraq border, on Saturday, though it wasn’t immediately clear if it was related to the attack.

The most telling damage could be seen in Planet Labs images of Parchin, some 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of downtown Tehran near the Mamalu Dam. There, one structure appeared to be totally destroyed while others looked damaged in the attack.

At Khojir, some 20 kilometers (12 miles) away from downtown Tehran, damage could be seen on at least two structures in satellite images.

Analysts including Decker Eveleth at the Virginia-based think tank CNA, Joe Truzman at the Washington-based Foundation for Defense of Democracies and former United Nations weapon inspector David Albright, as well as other open-source experts, first identified the damage to the bases.

The locations of the two bases correspond to videos obtained by the AP showing Iranian air defense systems firing in the vicinity early Saturday.

BASE LINKED TO PAST IRANIAN NUCLEAR WEAPONS ACTIVITY
At Parchin, Albright’s Institute for Science and International Security identified the destroyed building against a mountainside as “Taleghan 2.” It said an archive of Iranian nuclear data earlier seized by Israel identified the building as housing “a smaller, elongated high explosive chamber and a flash X-ray system to examine small-scale high explosive tests.”

“Such tests may have included high explosives compressing a core of natural uranium, simulating the initiation of a nuclear explosive,” a 2018 report by the institute says.

In a message posted to the social platform X early Sunday, the institute added: “It is not certain whether Iran used uranium at ‘Taleghan 2,’ but it is possible it studied the compression of natural uranium hemispheres, which would explain its hasty and secretive renovation efforts following the IAEA’s request to access Parchin in 2011.”

It’s unclear what, if any, equipment would have been inside of the “Taleghan 2″ building early Saturday. There were no Israeli strikes on Iran’s oil industry, nor its nuclear enrichment sites or its nuclear power plant at Bushehr during the assault.

Rafael Mariano Grossi, who leads the IAEA, confirmed that on X, saying “Iran’s nuclear facilities have not been impacted.”

“Inspectors are safe and continue their vital work,” he added. “I call for prudence and restraint from actions that could jeopardize the safety & security of nuclear & other radioactive materials.”

DAMAGE SEEN AT FACILITIES FOR IRAN’S BALLISTIC MISSILE PROGRAM
Other buildings destroyed at Khojir and Parchin likely included a warehouse and other buildings where Iran used industrial mixers to create the solid fuel needed for its extensive ballistic missile arsenal, Eveleth said.

In a statement issued immediately after the attack Saturday, the Israeli military said it targeted “missile manufacturing facilities used to produce the missiles that Iran fired at the State of Israel over the last year.”

Destroying such sites could greatly disrupt Iran’s ability to manufacture new ballistic missiles to replenish its arsenal after its two attacks on Israel, on April 14 and October 1. Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which oversees the country’s ballistic missile program, has been silent since Saturday’s attack.

Iran’s overall ballistic missile arsenal, which includes shorter-range missiles unable to reach Israel, was estimated to be “over 3,000” by General Kenneth McKenzie, then-commander of the US military’s Central Command, in testimony to the US Senate in 2022. In the time since, Iran has fired hundreds of the missiles in a series of attacks.

There have been no videos or photos posted to social media of missile parts or damage in civilian neighborhoods following the recent attack — suggesting that the Israeli strikes were far more accurate that Iran’s ballistic missile barrages targeting Israel in April and October. Israel relied on aircraft-fired missiles during its attack.

However, one factory appeared to have been hit in Shamsabad Industrial City, just south of Tehran near Imam Khomeini International Airport, the country’s main gateway to the outside world.

Online videos of the damaged building corresponded to an address for a firm known as TIECO, which advertises itself as building advanced machinery used in Iran’s oil and gas industry.

Officials at TIECO requested the AP write the company a letter before responding to questions. The firm did not immediately reply to a letter sent to it.
While the damage from Israel’s attack is clearly extensive, the fact that most of the damage was away from population centers and was limited to military bases leaves the Iranians room to say that the strikes were unsuccessful, or that they don’t need to respond.

HIDDEN DAMAGE
Israel may have also attacked sites in Iran that the regime is unlikely to reveal to the public, some of which are secretive and related to the country’s nuclear project.

One such target may have been in the city of Karaj, northwest of Tehran, where Israel struck a number of anti-aircraft batteries. Karaj, however, is home to the centrifuge industry of Iran’s nuclear system, and it is entirely possible that Israel’s strikes in the city were not limited to the missile systems.

The Karaj centrifuge facility has been targeted in the past, with a major attack in 2021 being widely attributed to Israel though it never claimed responsibility.

According to a report in the New York Times, Israeli also targeted the secretive Parchin military base on the outskirts of Tehran on Saturday. The report cited Iranian officials as saying that the site was hit during the Israeli attack.

Satellite photos analyzed by The Associated Press show damage to the Parchin base, where the International Atomic Energy Agency has accused Iran of conducting tests of high explosives that could trigger a nuclear weapon. Iran long has insisted its nuclear program is peaceful, though the IAEA, Western intelligence agencies and others say Tehran had an active weapons program at least up until 2003.

The site came under renewed scrutiny by the International Atomic Energy Agency in 2015 when Tehran reached a landmark deal with major powers under which it agreed to curb its nuclear activities under UN supervision in return for the lifting of international sanctions. The deal has since fallen apart.

Iran had previously denied the IAEA access to Parchin, insisting it was a military site unrelated to any nuclear activities, but the agency’s then-chief, the late Yukiya Amano, paid a visit to the site. The IAEA reported finding traces of enriched uranium in soil samples taken from the site, but Iran has consistently denied the validity of those findings.

Since then, there has been continued suspicion that Iran uses the site for nuclear detonation research, and Israel’s reported targeting of the site this weekend may renew international interest in the facility.

GROUNDWORK FOR THE NEXT ATTACK
The main target of the Israeli attack, Iran’s air defense systems and missile industry, laid the groundwork for the next attack. The alleged damage to Iran’s flagship air-defense systems, the Russian-made S-300, allows Israel greater freedom of action over Iranian skies.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran had four S-300 systems before the attack, and that all four were destroyed by Israel, citing an Israeli official.

The attacks on the air defenses caused “deep alarm” in Iran, The New York Times reported, citing three unnamed Iranian officials — one from the country’s oil ministry — since it rendered key energy sites defenseless to future strikes.

Israel also reportedly delivered a “crippling” blow to Iran’s missile industry, striking at least 12 planetary mixers used to make solid fuel used in long-range ballistic missiles, reports said, with some putting the number of mixers struck at 20.

The Saudi Elaph news site reported, citing an unnamed informed source, that the heavy fuel mixers had been used to power Khaybar and Qassem missiles, ballistic missiles that were launched at Israel in the Iranian strike earlier this month.

The source claimed it would take two years to repair the factory, which was completely destroyed. It did not say where the factory was located.

The Axios news site cited Israeli sources and a US official as saying Iran can’t produce the mixers on its own and must acquire them from China, which may take more than a year. The report also said the development would limit Tehran’s ability to supply ballistic missiles to its proxies, such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthi rebels, both terror groups.

AMERICA’S DECISION TIME
As much as the United States tries to tread lightly regarding the Iranian issue, it seems that the Israeli strikes are pushing the US, regardless of who the next president is, toward a decision on a new policy regarding Iran.

The current situation, where Iran is very close to acquiring nuclear weapons capabilities — posing threats to regional countries, global fuel supplies, shipping lanes and US interests — even as it engages in direct and indirect conflict with Israel, makes it much more than just background noise. The US knows this situation needs to be resolved.

So far, Washington has refrained from making direct threats against Tehran, both declaratively and practically, even in recent weeks. According to sources in Israel, this must change.

Now that Israel has officially struck in Iran for the first time, and did so in compliance with the Biden administration’s stringent conditions, it expects an appropriate change in US policy.

[IsraelTimes] In the West Bank on Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said a Palestinian motorist who tried to carry out a ramming and stabbing attack against IDF troops near the West Bank town of Hizma was shot dead.

According to the IDF, the assailant accelerated his car toward troops of the Binyamin Regional Brigade’s 43rd Battalion, as they were operating near Hizma.

“The terrorist drew a knife… and tried to carry out a stabbing attack,” the IDF said, adding that the soldiers opened fire at the assailant, killing him.

Hebrew media named the perpetrator as Amudi Sami, an East Jerusalem resident of the Shuafat refugee camp.

There were no other injuries in the incident.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Five IDF reservists killed, 14 wounded in battle with Hezbollah in south Lebanon, 21 Lebanese airstruck
[IsraelTimes] Military investigating exchange of fire that also left 3 terror operatives dead; at least 5 hurt in drone, rocket strikes; IAF hits Hezbollah weapons sites in Beirut overnight

The Israel Defense Forces on Sunday announced that five Israeli reserve soldiers were killed and 14 maimed in a battle with Hezbollah operatives in a southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
village on Saturday evening.

Bringing IDF’s toll in the ground offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon and during operations to 34, the slain troops were named as:

  • Cpt. (res.) Rabbi Avraham Yosef Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem

  • Master Sgt. (res.) Gilad Elmaliach, 30, from Jerusalem.

  • Cpt. (res.) Amit Chayut, 29, from Haifa.

  • Maj. (res.) Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36, from Eitan.

  • Sgt. Maj. (res.) Shaul Moyal, 47, from Karnei Shomron

The troops all served with the Alon Brigade’s 8207th Battalion. Goldberg was the battalion’s rabbi, Chayut was a platoon commander, and Abitbol was a deputy company commander. Among the 14 maimed soldiers, five were listed at death's door.

Three Hezbollah operatives were killed in the exchange of fire.

Further details of the battle were still under investigation, as the IDF pressed its campaign to push Hezbollah forces away from the border, in order to make it safe for tens of thousands of Israelis displaced from northern communities to return to their homes.

Also Sunday, the IDF released footage of a Hezbollah weapons bunker located by troops of the Golani Brigade in southern Lebanon. The military said the underground facility, hidden in a forested area, was used to store anti-tank missiles, machine guns, assault rifles, and mortars. The footage was released as the IDF said that fighter jets targeted several Hezbollah weapon manufacturing and maintenance sites in Beirut overnight, along with an arms depot.

The IDF issued evacuation orders for three buildings in two neighborhoods in the southern suburb of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, ahead of the strikes. Lebanese state media reported an Israeli raid in Dahiyeh’s Burj al-Barajneh and Hadath neighborhoods shortly after the warnings were published.

Elsewhere in Lebanon, the military said on Sunday morning that the Israeli Air Force had killed some 70 Hezbollah operatives and hit around 120 sites belonging to the terror group over the past day in Lebanon. Among the targets was a site used by Hezbollah’s drone unit, and a cell of operatives from the unit, the IDF added.

The military also announced on Sunday that it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s Bint Jbeil region and his replacement within 24 hours. On Friday, the Hezbollah commander in charge of the Lebanese border village of Bint Jbeil, Ahmad Jaafar Matouq, was killed in a strike carried out by fighter jets, according to the IDF. A day later, the IDF says Matouq’s replacement, along with the commander of Hezbollah’s artillery forces in the area, were killed in a separate Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
The strikes came after Hezbollah fired some 200 rockets and launched four drones at northern Israel on Saturday. The hostile aircraft triggered air raid sirens in the Upper and Western Galilee as well as the northern border cities and towns of Kiryat Shmona, Metula and Tel Hai, but no injuries were reported as the IDF intercepted all four drones.

In a statement, Hezbollah claimed it launched a drone attack against the Tel Nof air force base, south of Tel Aviv.

In one of the rocket barrages, 15 rockets were launched from Lebanon at the Western Galilee, with some intercepted while the rest hit open areas, the IDF said. There were no reports of injuries from the rocket fire, which sparked blazes at several locations in the north.

Lebanese health ministry says at least 21 killed in Israeli airstrikes today
[IsraelTimes] The Lebanese health ministry says that at least 21 people were killed today in Israeli airstrikes on three different areas in southern Lebanon.

CCP's People's Liberation Army withdrawing from the Ladakh region with land turned over to India
[X]
This is not an area that 3dc claims to know a lot about other than it's part of one of the worst physical areas in the world to fight. What just happened? I know that they have been fighting here for many decades.

…This land will now be entirely under Indian jurisdiction.

India has already announced the establishment of the Ladakh Union Territory. This area is roughly equivalent to three Taiwans, forty Hong Kongs, totaling 90,000 square kilometers.

I can tell you that the CCP has not at all informed the Chinese people about the specifics of this agreement with India to "resolve the border dispute." Anyway, the media is controlled by the CCP, and the public has no right to know, only to be brainwashed and incited.

India, China Troops Withdrawal: Major Breakthrough In Border Talks Starting Today
Published: Monday, October 28, 2024, 9:16 [IST]

In a crucial move to improve diplomatic relations, India and China will finalise the military disengagement process across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) by October 28-29, as reported by ANI.

This development follows a key agreement between India and China aimed at resolving the border dispute. Notably, it marks the first successful resolution since the 2020 Galwan clash, which led to casualties on both sides.

The disengagement will occur at two points of friction along the LAC - Demchok and Depsang Plains in eastern Ladakh.

An Indian Army source informed ANI, "The latest agreements will only apply to Demchok and Depsang and not to other areas. This agreement does not cover other friction zones. Troops from both nations will revert to positions held before April 2020, and will patrol areas they previously covered until April 2020."

Indian troops have begun withdrawing equipment to rear areas in line with the agreement. It is unclear if a symbolic gesture will mark the disengagement's completion at these two points, as unresolved issues remain.

S Jaishankar on the disengagement

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar described the military disengagement at the two friction points along the Ladakh border as a first step, with de-escalation as the next. He highlighted the need for time to rebuild trust and cooperation between the nations.

"The border situation has been very disturbed, with a very negative impact on the overall relationship," the Union Minister remarked on Saturday.

The Foreign Minister pointed out that the agreement addressed three main issues, the first being disengagement, as troops of both nations were "very, very close up to each other, and the possibility of something happening is there."

The second, he noted, is "de-escalation," followed by the "larger issue of how to manage the border and negotiate the boundary settlement."

#8  For a given value of seasoned, anyway. They’re high up on the glacier, mostly shouting insults at the Indian troops during the day, then sneaking off at night to move the border markers a few meters farther into Indian territory. Every once in a while tempers are lost and shots exchanged, and sometimes a mass brawl occurs. But the air is thin up there, so neither side has much energy for serious soldierly activities.

As wars go, it’s kindergarten levels of pathetic, as far as I can tell.

[RT] Mass killings reported in conflict-torn African state
[RT] Sudanese paramilitaries have been attacking villages in the El Gezira region since its top commander defected to join the state’s forces, activists claim

At least 124 people have been killed in a massive new wave of attacks in Sudan’s El Gezira state, according to local activists, who have accused the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing “massacres” against civilians.

The incident is reportedly one of the deadliest to have happened since a brutal civil war broke out in the northeastern African nation between the RSF and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) in mid-April last year.

The Sudan Doctors Network reported on Saturday that dozens of civilians had been injured and hundreds more displaced as a result of deadly assaults on Al-Sariha village by RSF fighters.

The Wad Madani Resistance Committee, a grassroots pro-democracy group, also reported that more than 100 wounded could not be evacuated for treatment due to shelling by militants, who had completely invaded Al-Sariha. The death toll could be higher, the organization said while denouncing the “heinous massacre” as “ethnic cleansing.”

A member of the Resistance Committees told CNN that the militia has detained 150 people, including the elderly. The group shared a video on Facebook showing men in camouflage manhandling an elderly civilian. Another clip shows dozens of local men sitting on the floor, allegedly arrested by the RSF.

Fighting in El Gezira has reportedly escalated since Abu Aqla Muhammad Ahmed Kikil,
…in the Rantburg archives as merely Abuagla Keikal
the RSF commander in the southeastern state, switched sides with several of his troops and joined the national army days ago.

On Sunday, the Wad Madani Resistance Committee reported that more than 50 villages in the region have been under continuous attack for the past six days. The group stated that it is unable to communicate with dozens of other invaded villages due to a curfew imposed by the paramilitary forces, who have seized “all satellite Internet devices.”

Earlier on Friday, the RSF accused the state military of arming civilians in the region and using forces under the command of the defected official Kikil, prompting the attacks, Reuters reported.

According to the UN, Sudan now faces the world’s largest hunger crisis, with tens of thousands of people killed and more than 11 million displaced as a result of the 18-month-old war.

More than 3 million border crossers from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela
[JustTheNews] Citizens of four countries were granted expanded entry by the Biden-Harris administration through a parole program.

Of the 14 million illegal border crossers reported under the Biden-Harris administration, more than 3 million are from four countries whose citizens were granted expanded entry through a parole program created by U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas: Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela (CHNV).

At least 2,496,080 illegal border crossers from CHNV countries were reported under the Biden-Harris administration, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data. The data represents fiscal years 2021-2024, excluding the first three months of fiscal 2021 under the previous administration. The federal fiscal year is from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30.

When including the 531,000 released into the country through CHNV, the total increases to at least 3,027,080 from these four countries. The total excludes gotaways, those who illegally entered and evaded capture, those released into the country through the CBP One App and other parole programs Mayorkas created, and the tens of thousands of Haitians and Cubans repatriated by the U.S. Coast Guard, The Center Square reported.

Mayorkas argues the CHNV and other parole programs are legal and necessary; federal judges have ruled they aren’t. Republican members of Congress argue they’re illegal and cited them as evidence to impeach Mayorkas in February. The papers CHNV foreign nationals and other illegal border crossers receive from Department of Homeland Security agencies state they are illegal aliens, are unlawfully present in the U.S., and require them to report to an immigration judge years into the future, The Center Square first reported.

The U.S. State Department designated two of four CHNV countries, Cuba and Nicaragua, as Countries of Particular Concern for “systematic, ongoing, egregious violations of religious freedom.” These include “torture, prolonged detention without charges, forced disappearance, or other flagrant denial of life, liberty, or security of persons.” Cuba is also designated as a State Sponsor of Terrorism.

Almost 40% Of World Bank's Recent Climate Funds Unaccounted For: Oxfam Audit

[Barrons] Close to 40 percent of World Bank climate financing over the past seven years is currently unaccounted for, Oxfam said in a new report published Wednesday, blaming poor record-keeping.

An Oxfam audit of the development lender's climate finance portfolio between 2017 and 2023 found that as much as $41 billion in climate finance could not be found "between the time projects were approved and when they closed."

"The Bank is quick to brag about its climate finance billions — but these numbers are based on what it plans to spend, not on what it actually spends once a project gets rolling," Kate Donald, the head of Oxfam's Washington office, said in a statement.

The World Bank has looked to boost its climate financing commitment under new president Ajay Banga, who took over last year on a pledge to reform the 80-year-old Washington-based institution.
Re-enforces my belief that those jetting around to attend the dozens of "Elitist" Climate ______ meetings, never used a dime of their own money and in fact likely made $$ Millions doing so.

The situation at the front remains tense. The enemy, despite significant losses inflicted on it by our defenders, continues to try to break through the defense of the Ukrainian troops. This was reported in the General Staff report on Sunday, October 27.

In total, 84 military clashes have occurred since the beginning of the day.

Today, in the Kharkov direction, Russian occupiers twice stormed the defensive lines of the Ukrainian army in the Volchansk region; our defenders repelled the attacks of the Russians.

In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy actively attacked our units' positions in the areas of Kondrashovka, Sin'kovka, Kolesnikovka, Kruglyakovka, Lozovaya, Zagryzovoye, Pervomayskoye and Vishnevoye 13 times. Ukrainian soldiers are steadfastly holding the defense, six combat clashes are still ongoing. The situation is under control.

The occupiers are actively using aviation in this direction, in particular, the areas of Aleksandro-Kalinovoe and Romanovka are being bombed.

Since the beginning of the day, the enemy has already made 15 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Mirolyubovka, Luch, Krutoy Yar and Selidovo in the Pokrovsk direction . Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: October 27, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:07 Zelensky announced new support packages for Ukraine next week, in particular from the Nordic countries: "We have created this new format of cooperation - Ukraine plus the Nordic countries. And within the framework of this format, we are invariably increasing our interaction - defense, political, economic. I am grateful to each country in this format: Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland." According to the president, Kiev will discuss with these countries, in particular, "new fundamental steps that can increase pressure on Russia for this war and for the sake of honest diplomacy."

In turn, Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo announced that Zelensky will visit Iceland at the end of October, where he will take part in the 76th session of the Nordic Council.

17:45 Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz announced an attempt to cross the state border by an armed group of people in the Klimovsky District. According to him, the situation in the district is currently stable.

16:14 During the day, Russians attacked the village of Dmitrovka in the Kutsurub community of the Nikolaev region three times with FPV drones, one person was killed, said the head of the OVA Vitaly Kim. In addition, the Russians fired at the police officers who arrived at the call. As a result of the hits, a fire broke out, which completely destroyed the service car, the law enforcement officers were not injured.

15:49 Vladislav Voloshin, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, confirmed the advance of Russians in the Levadnoye area of the Zaporizhia region: "The Russian army has increased certain efforts, regrouped and carried out massive assault operations. As a result, it had partial success, that is, it penetrated the Ukrainian defense to a depth of approximately a platoon strongpoint."

13:38 Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak said in an interview with Corriere Della Sera that Kyiv may consider initiatives from China, Brazil and South Africa to integrate them into the peace formula: "At the beginning of November, we will complete our peace formula, and Zelensky said that then he will be ready to listen to other initiatives, such as those proposed by China, Brazil, South Africa, etc., to integrate them into ours. Then our proposal will have significant support."

Yermak also noted that in order to start negotiations, "we need to return to the situation that existed before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Then we will talk about how to return sovereignty to the 1991 borders." At the same time, the head of the OP emphasized that the only security guarantees that Kyiv considers real are NATO membership. He also confirmed that Zelensky is against freezing the war and any territorial compromises.

At the same time, Yermak was unable to answer the question of when the second Peace Summit would take place: "We will be ready to hold an international conference when we feel strong and supported by the Global South for negotiations with Russia." To a clarifying question from a journalist, whether this meant that the conference had been postponed until next year, Yermak replied: "We don't know, we will do it when the conditions are right, hopefully as soon as possible."

In addition, Yermak assured that elections in Ukraine will be held immediately after the end of the war.

Europe
'Filled his pockets.' How the Balts squandered money on a road for Western troops
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Victor Lavrinenko

[REGNUM] The Rail Baltica "European gauge" railway project, which the Baltic countries are building with EU money, is under threat. The "road to nowhere", which has been under construction for ten years, has become a very profitable enterprise, but not for the countries building it, but for the individuals involved. And it is in the interests of the Baltic officials that this project continues forever and never ends.

The colossal amounts of money already allocated by the European Union for Rail Baltica somehow quietly disappeared into the pockets of those involved, and suddenly it turned out that there was no more money for further construction. What to do next with the gigantic unfinished construction? Now in Riga and Tallinn they are feverishly trying to come up with something.

COLOSSAL WASTE
The allocation of funds by the European Union for the construction of the Rail Baltica route was once lobbied by Estonian Siim Kallas, who took the post of European Commissioner for Transport. Siim is the father of the now former Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas, who has now been put in charge of EU foreign policy.

The most interesting point is the significant increase in the budget. The initial estimate for the cost of the entire highway was 3.68 billion euros. In 2017, the figure was revised, increasing to 5.79 billion. A year ago, it became clear that the cost of the Latvian part of the project alone could grow to 8 billion euros. And four months ago, this figure was also adjusted: under certain conditions, the cost could “swell” to 9.6 billion.

The audit showed that the deficit of the necessary budget on a regional scale could reach 10-19 billion, and the project implementation is years behind schedule. Meanwhile, the long-term EU budget until 2028 has allocated “only” 9 billion euros for the Rail Baltica project – and not just for Latvia, but for all three Baltic countries. The project’s implementers then proposed taking out a loan to complete the work, thereby increasing the country’s external debt.

It is possible that due to a lack of funds the new railway will bypass Riga altogether, without entering it. The European Commission coordinator Kartin Trautman spoke categorically: supposedly, freight and passenger transportation on the Rail Baltica railway line should begin before 2030 – regardless of whether it is connected to the central station in Riga or not. This is a sore spot for Brussels: the European Commission expresses concerns that even 2030 will not be the final deadline for the completion of construction and that money for the project will have to be allocated in the future.

Meanwhile, contractors are leaving the project for various reasons. At the end of April 2024, the chairman of the board of the state-owned company European Railway Lines (EDzL) and his assistant suddenly resigned without any clear explanation (“for personal reasons”). This company is working on the construction of Rail Baltica in Latvia. “You filled your pockets — give in to someone else,” Latvian residents joked on social media.

At the same time, it became known that the state had terminated the contract with the Latvian-Spanish company Rere Ineco, which had undertaken to build 16 railway stations. The insolvency of the businessmen was to blame.

But Latvian Transport Minister Kaspars Briškens is not losing his presence of mind and promises to optimize the Rail Baltica construction plan in such a way as to reduce costs by 35%.

EVERYONE AND NO ONE IS TO BLAME
On October 6, Briškens stated that Latvia currently has less than 1.5 billion euros at its disposal for the construction of the railway. In order to build it even “in the most minimal volume,” he said, “two to three times more” is needed. All hope is to wheedle the missing money out of the European Union. “If we set the task of completing the entire route by 2030 with the money that is available to us today, then this is an impossible task. It is impossible. We see that we are short at least 3-4 billion even for the most minimal volume,” Briškens admitted.

According to the Latvian minister, much now depends on the decisions that will be made when planning the next budget of the European funds. The politician does not deny that according to the original plan of the project, the railway should have been built many years ago. But, as Briškens claims, the process has been delayed due to the “inaccuracy of the draft designs” made in the first half of the 2010s.

According to him, “they were made by Latvian companies and perhaps they lacked the knowledge and technology to make better sketches.” Nevertheless, “based on these projects, the Cabinet of Ministers made a decision in 2016 regarding the geography of the route, including the main line through Riga.”

The Latvian parliament convened a special investigative committee, and in August it concluded that it would be impossible to do without involving the prosecutor's office. And, of course, the question arose: what to do with the unfinished road next? Prime Minister Evika Silina loudly declared that she does not see "how we can still find additional funding for Rail Baltica in the budget now."

However, as the head of the parliamentary investigative committee, Andris Kulbergs, emphasizes, even stopping the project will require significant expenses: “If money is not set aside at least for the conservation of what has already been built, this could result in losses of hundreds of millions of euros in a year or two.”

Just to keep the project from stopping altogether, an additional 80 million euros must be urgently allocated. And if the project does stop, there is a risk that Latvia will have to return up to a billion euros to the EU. Kulbergs also emphasized another important detail: Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia requested European funding for Rail Baltica together. And if one of the three countries does not fulfill its part of the task, the risks will also extend to the other participants in the project.

Kulbergs emphasizes that work on the central railway station under construction in Riga cannot be stopped: the temporary retaining wall could collapse. And the supports of the future railway bridge across the Daugava cannot just stand there. The new structures of the railway terminal at the Riga airport need to be mothballed for the winter, but no money has been allocated for this.

Andris Kulbergs said that the interim report of the parliamentary investigative committee is ready, but it does not include the names of those guilty of the massive embezzlement. "This is the first big problem: in Latvia, there was not a single person responsible for the entire project," the politician said, emphasizing "collective irresponsibility." He promised to find the culprits and avoid punishing only the "scapegoats," as in the case of the theft of money from the project to strengthen the border with Russia.

"FOR TROOP TRANSPORT ONLY"
The difficulties of their Latvian colleagues, however, do not bother the Estonian developers of the project – they express unwavering determination to move forward.

In early September, the Baltic transport ministers discussed the idea of opening the Rail Baltic route for traffic "in parts". Later, the Estonian Minister of Infrastructure and Economy Vladimir Svet supported this idea. And now the developers of the Estonian part of the railway hope to launch the Tallinn-Pärnu connection not in 2030, but a year or two earlier.

On October 24, the government decided to allocate another 4 million euros to Rail Baltica Estonia for current expenses. Compared to the previously announced tender for 1.3 billion, this is a small amount.

However, "the saddest thing is that this project is in principle in question, since Latvia refused to invest its funds in it. That is, the track may end in the border town of Valga," warns opposition member of the Estonian parliament Alexander Chaplygin.

Kaliningrad political scientist Alexander Nosovich writes that if all the billions of euros stolen over the decades of building the “road to nowhere” were added up and distributed to the population of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, the Baltics would instantly catch up and surpass Switzerland in terms of GDP per capita.

"All the experts who have ever addressed the topic of Rail Baltica have agreed that this project cannot have any common sense other than military. A narrow-gauge railway from Scandinavia to Central Europe through the Baltics can only be useful for transporting troops. It is not needed for anything else," Nosovich writes.

In his opinion, the fact that Rail Baltica has been “slipping” for many years is good news – it shows that all the anti-Russian antics of the Baltic countries are their personal initiative, and the overseas hegemon is not planning a war with Russia in this region. Otherwise, those involved “would have been given a magic kick in the pants long ago and forced to finish building and launch the unfortunate narrow-gauge railway at a rapid pace.”

Pennsylvania Trump Supporters Receive Threatening Letters Days Before Election
[TOWNHALL] Pennsylvania Trump supporters claimed that they received threatening letters in the mail from an anonymous writer, demanding that they not vote for former President Donald Trump
...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down...
a week before the election.

Voters in Philadelphia said they received a letter sent through the U.S. Postal Service using a fake copy of a Trump campaign letterhead. The note began by saying, "Dear neighbor," before listing why they should not vote for Trump and Vice Presidential candidate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).

The letter had a grim warning to Trump supporters.

The author warned the reader that they "know where you live" and "you are in the database." The letter warned the Trump supporter that there is "no knowing what may happen," and "your family may be impacted, your cat may get shot." (Per the Post Millenial).

i and Israeli negotiators are holding in Doha today to prepare for new talks for a ceasefire and hostage release deal.

Israeli officials have been evaluating different options for a deal, including a proposal that was presented in a security cabinet meeting last week to offer Hamas a two-week ceasefire in exchange for the release of five hostages, but the terror group reportedly appears to prefer an immediate end to the conflict.

The unnamed Hamas source tells Asharq that "we will listen to the offer [of the negotiators] but for our part, we prefer a comprehensive deal that takes place in one stage and ends the war once and for all, in return for a prisoner exchange under which all Israeli captives are released in exchange for an agreed number of Paleostinian prisoners in Israeli jails."

a senior member of Hamas’s Qatar-based political bureau, says in a statement carried by the Pro-Hamas Shehab news agency that an agreement is possible.

“Our demands are clear and known, and a deal can be reached, provided that Netanyahu remains committed to what was already agreed upon,” Badran says.
Does he mean what Israel agreed to or what Hamas agreed to? These are not the same lists, as has been revealed.
It is unclear if Badran’s comments are in reaction to an Egyptian proposal for a two-day ceasefire in Gaza to exchange four Israeli hostages for some Palestinian prisoners, followed by 10 days of talks.

Saudi news station Al Arabiya reported earlier that Hamas was willing to accept the Egyptian proposal as long as it is incorporated into its July 2 demands for a hostage deal. It also seeks guarantees that Israel will commit to the Egyptian proposal being part of a comprehensive deal.

Hamas sources also told Saudi channel Asharq News that the group preferred a comprehensive deal rather than a piecemeal one.

Hezbollah Strikes Israeli Industrial Areas in Acre, Haifa, Repels Hermes 900 UAV over Bekaa, shoots off 90 rockets plus drones
[ENGLISH.ALMANAR.COM.LB] Hezbollah's Islamic Resistance® remains steadfast in defending Lebanese territory against the intense aggression of the Israeli occupation while supporting the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. Strip.

Assiduously coordinated operations commenced on Sunday morning with rocket barrages and attack drones aimed at the Bar Lev Industrial Zone east of Acre and the Zvolon Military Industries north of Haifa. Simultaneously, the Islamic Resistance®'s air defense units engaged Israeli warplanes over the western sector with surface-to-air missiles, successfully driving them from Lebanese airspace. They also targeted a Hermes 900 drone in western Bekaa, forcing it to retreat.

The initial statement indicated that at 7:40 AM on Sunday, Hezbollah's Islamic Resistance® fighters conducted an aerial attack using a squadron of attack drones targeting the Yodfat Military Industries Company located in the Bar Lev industrial zone, southeast of Acre (occupied Akka).

The second statement issued on Sunday said that at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted an Israeli infantry unit in the town of Houla with a guided missile, resulting in multiple casualties, including both deaths and injuries.

Hezbollah's third statement stated that the group's fighters targeted a gathering of 'Israeli' enemy soldiers in northern eastern al-Manara settlement with an assault glider at 11:00 am on Sunday, achieving a direct hit, leaving them either killed or maimed.

Simultaneously at 11:00 am, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted a gathering of 'Israeli' enemy soldiers at the northern entrance of the al-Marj site with an assault glider, accurately hitting their targets and leaving them either dead or maimed.

According to the fifth statement, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted at 12:10 pm a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers at Fatima Gate with a rocket barrage, resulting in confirmed injuries.

Thirty-five minutes later, at 12:45 pm, the Islamic Resistance® fighters targeted the Zvolon military industries base north of Haifa city with a large rocket barrage.
The Times of Israel reports:
The Iran-backed terror group continued its cross-border attacks on northern Israel on Sunday, injuring at least five people in drone and rocket strikes by the early afternoon.

Three people were maimed in the northern Arab town of Tamra, including one woman at death's door, when Hezbollah fired some 75 rockets at the Galilee from Lebanon, according to the IDF.

Air defenses intercepted several rockets, the army added, and impacts were also identified.

The victims, including a 57-year-old woman hit by shrapnel at death's door, and a 21-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl who were lightly hurt by smoke inhalation, were evacuated to Rambam Hospital in Haifa for medical treatment, according to the Magen David Adom ambulance service.

Earlier in the day, two people were maimed in a drone attack on the Bar Lev industrial zone between Acre and Karmiel. The IDF confirmed that a drone launched from Lebanon struck the industrial zone. Further details were being investigated, as sirens had sounded in the Western Galilee warning of an incoming drone but not in the industrial zone itself. Magen David Adom said medics were treating a 61-year-old man in moderate condition and a 31-year-old man who was lightly hurt by the drone impact.

Footage from the scene showed damage to a factory belonging to the BAZ aviation components firm. The factory manufactures aerospace metal components for both civilian and military clients, according to the company’s LinkedIn page.

Earlier on Sunday morning, the IDF intercepted two drones that crossed from Lebanon into Israel. No injuries were reported. Sirens warning of a suspected drone infiltration sounded in the coastal city of Nahariya and several towns near the Lebanon border amid the incident.

A short while later, the IDF said it had successfully intercepted a drone making its way "from the east," using terminology usually reserved for UAVs launched from Iraq by Iran-backed militias. That drone did not cross into Israeli territory, the military said.

IDF says around 90 Hezbollah rockets fired at Israel from Lebanon today
[IsraelTimes] Some 90 rockets were launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon at northern Israel today, according to an IDF tally.

One of the rocket attacks left three wounded in Tamra. A separate drone attack wounded two in an industrial zone in the Galilee.

Suspect critically injured after shootout with police in West Rogers Park: CPD

[Fox32Chicago] A 39-year-old man was shot in the shoulder by an armed suspect Saturday morning in Chicago's West Rogers Park neighborhood.
West Rogers Park is on Chicago’s North Side, if that means anything to you, dear Reader.
A suspect is in critical condition after an exchange of gunfire with Chicago police in the West Rogers Park neighborhood, authorities said.

The incident took place around 9:35 a.m. Saturday on the 2600 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, a neighborhood home to many Orthodox Jewish families.

A 39-year-old man was walking in the area when an armed suspect approached him from behind and fired multiple shots, striking him in the shoulder, CPD said.

Neighbors said the man was going to his synagogue prior to the shooting.

Officers responded to the scene and at around 9:55 a.m., the suspect re-emerged from an alley and started firing shots at police and first responders, CPD said. An ambulance was also struck by gunfire.

The suspect continued shooting at officers from various locations over about two and a half minutes, according to police. After reaching the 6800 block of North Washtenaw Avenue, officers shot the suspect multiple times.

Police rendered aid to the suspect and recovered the gun that was used in the shooting.

The suspect was taken to St. Francis Hospital and is in critical condition. Authorities said the 39-year-old victim was treated at a hospital and has since been released.

Update at 7:15 p.m. ET, summarized from information in comments for future searchability: The miscreant is Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi, 22, an illegal immigrant who crossed our Mexican border a year and a half ago, ie. April/May 2023.

Two more journalists killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza
[GEO.TV] According to Gaza officials, two more journalists have been killed by Israeli attacks, raising the total number of journalists killed since the conflict began to 182.
"Journolists"
Gaza's media office identified the deceased journalists as Nadia Imad Al-Sayed and Abdul Rahman Samir al-Tanani.

Israel has faced international scrutiny over its attacks on journalists in both Gaza and Lebanon, as well as for restricting media access to the occupied West Bank.
Are these journalists also on the Hamas payroll, as so many Gazans killed, maimed, or arrested by the IDF have turned out to be?

At least 53 killed in Gaza on Sunday as Israeli strikes intensify
[GEO.TV] Israeli air strikes on Sunday killed at least 53 people across Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, with 46 fatalities reported in the north as bombardments and arrests intensified under the ongoing siege, Al Jazeera reported.

"Asmaa School has been targeted by Israeli warplanes. A large number of injured people have been transported to al-Ahli Hospital, but many remain trapped," said Paleostinian medic Hussein al-Halabi. The school had been sheltering displaced residents from Jabalia and western Gaza City.

The siege, now entering its fourth week, has seen a mounting corpse count. Medical sources report that over 1,000 Paleostinians have bit the dust since the siege began, according to Al Jazeera.

The view from Israel:
IDF soldier dies of wounds sustained in north Gaza, raising ground op toll to 362
Also more on this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] The Israel Defense Forces announced Sunday a soldier died from wounds sustained during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip earlier this month, raising the death toll of the ground operation to 362. Staff Sgt. Malachi Yehuda Harari, 22, of the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion, from Even Shmuel, was injured during the fighting on October 18.

The military also announced that troops killed some 40 terror operatives during operations in northern Gaza’s Jabaliya over the past day. Several sites belonging to Hamas were destroyed and weapons were seized in the area. The IDF has been conducting a renewed ground offensive in the Jabaliya area over the past several weeks and estimates that some 45,000 Palestinian civilians have evacuated the area. Hundreds of suspected terror operatives have been detained, and hundreds of gunmen have been killed, according to the military.

Meanwhile, in the Netzarim Corridor area of central Gaza, the IDF said troops killed a cell of gunmen in an exchange of fire on Sunday morning.

On Saturday, Israeli forces reportedly withdrew from the Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, a day after the IDF said it was operating at the medical center amid “intelligence information on terrorists and terror infrastructure in the area.” An IDF spokesperson declined to comment on the hospital report.

Medics from the Hamas-run health ministry said at least 44 of the facility’s 70-member team at the medical facility had been detained by Israeli forces. They said 14 were later released, including the hospital’s director. The medics also said that at least two children had died inside the intensive care unit after Israeli fire hit the generators and oxygen station in the facility on Friday.

In the weeks before the operation, the IDF said it had enabled the evacuation of patients and staff from the hospital, while also ensuring that the medical center’s emergency systems continued to function. Some medical staffers refused the army’s orders to evacuate the hospital or leave their patients unattended. Before the raid, medics said, at least 600 people remained in the hospital, including patients and their escorts.

“The safety and lives of patients who are left inside Kamal Adwan Hospital without medical staff and much-needed medication are at risk now,” said Marwan Al-Hams of the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.

Kamal Adwan is the last functioning hospital in Gaza’s north. The facility said it has been struggling with shortages since the start of the war, which has been increasingly aggravated by the launch of a new Israeli operation in northern Gaza earlier this month.

COGAT — the Israeli Defense Ministry body that manages civilian affairs in the Palestinian territories — said Friday it had allowed the transfer of 23 patients out of the hospital the previous night by Palestinian ambulances and UN vehicles. COGAT also said it allowed the transfer of one fuel truck, “180 blood units and a truckload of medical equipment” donated by UN agencies to the hospital.

On Saturday, the IDF announced the expansion of the designated “humanitarian zone” in southern Gaza, where the vast majority of the Palestinian population in the Strip currently resides. The zone is where most humanitarian aid is directed, and where several field hospitals have been established. The size of the zone has changed repeatedly amid evolving IDF operations against Hamas. Some 1.9 million Palestinians of the 2.3 million Gazan population are residing in the area, according to IDF assessments from July.

“The expanded Humanitarian Area includes field hospitals that have been established since the start of the war, tent compounds, and shelter equipment, as well as food, water, medicine, and medical equipment that has entered Gaza through coordination between COGAT and the international community,” the IDF said in a statement.

“The IDF will continue to operate to achieve the war objectives, including dismantling Hamas and bringing home all the hostages,” it added.

It is believed that 97 of the 251 hostages abducted by Hamas on October 7 — when terrorists streamed across the border into Israel and slaughtered some 1,200 people, sparking the current war — remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Hamas released 105 civilians during a weeklong truce in late November, and four hostages were released before that. Eight hostages have been rescued by troops alive, and the bodies of 37 hostages have also been recovered, including three mistakenly killed by the Israeli military as they tried to escape their captors.

Hamas is also holding two Israeli civilians who entered the Strip in 2014 and 2015, as well as the bodies of two IDF soldiers who were killed in 2014.

The Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said on Sunday that 42,924 people have been killed and 100,833 injured during Israel’s offensive in Gaza over the past year, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters.

Israel says it has killed some 17,000 combatants in battle as of August and another 1,000 terrorists inside Israel on October 7. Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

When they were building SLB's Rig 601, we were exactly half a wavelength away from a radio tower and it was energizing the rig. #12  Starting to sound (not like Musk's Tesla but the Tesla that invented AC power and everything) Tesla's lightening experiments...

Disclosure: In a large group of engineers in Motorola in the late 1990s was a man who on the side made huge Tesla Coils for Hollywood (on the side of his regular job). When he told me about electric bolts from his basketball hoop to the ground and lighting light bulbs on little floats with an antenna in the air and a lead into the water 3 miles away from his coil... I MADE DAMN SURE TO ALWAYS KNOW WHERE HE LIVED AS I DIDN"T WANT TO LIVE ANYWHERE NEAR HIS COILS!

His primary coil was usually 1" copper waterpipe with cooling water running through it (to cool it). The secondary was usually a power transformer just like the power company would use...

I learned my lesson in the early 70s when a Tesla Coil in a science room at college blew all the circuits in my turned off TI calculator in a nearby lecture room. EM power travels in mysterious ways...

#14  Another question... did the antenna in Houston have a lawn (grass) growing on it?

Reason.. a customer of Motorola had a cell site in the Indiana Dunes State Park. It wasn't working right and strange stuff was happening around it. It turned out the park had planted grass under it. That took the water out of the sand. Just sand didn't conduct properly and was no longer a ground. The solution was to kill all the grasses and pour salt on the ground to make the sand more conductive...

Montgomery County PA Republican Committee Headquarters forced to evacuate after profanity-laced bomb threat
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] The Montgomery County Republican Committee Headquarters was forced to evacuate and close today after a violent, profanity-laced bomb threat.

The Philly Inquirer reports:

"The 'pretty profanity-laced' call was 'something to the effect of, 'I'm gonna blow that place up,' said Christian Nascimento, chair of the Montgomery County GOP. And the caller also said, 'I'm going to be waiting to shoot you when you leave tonight.'

"The staffer, who works for former President Donald Trump's campaign, was alone in the office space that the county party shares with campaign staff when he got the call shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday.

"After the two assassination attempts on the former president, his campaign had everyone work virtually, Nascimento said."

Our American Behind Enemy Lines
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Russians now claim they recovered an Americas operative working on the Russian Federation's behalf in Ukraine.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of TRO_DPR

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Russian special services, together with units of the 36th Guards Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 29th Guards Combined Arms Army of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Ministry of Defense, carried out an operation to evacuate a valuable operational source - a US citizen who played a key role in preparing the assault on the village of Bogoyavlenka in the Ugledar direction.

Kenneth M. (name changed) of the SVO was on the territory of Ukraine for 2 years and transmitted valuable intelligence to Russia, which allowed it to carry out high-precision strikes on the enemy, minimizing damage to civilian infrastructure and the civilian population.

The life of the rescued American is not in danger. The issue of granting political asylum and obtaining Russian citizenship is being decided.

We need Americans like this.

Well, welcome to Russia.

Iraq
Three killed in suspected Turkish strike on Shingal: Peshmerga
[Rudaw] At least three people were killed and one was injured in Shingal on Friday as a result of suspected Ottoman Turkish Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s, according to a Peshmerga commander.

"Three people belonging to the YBS [Shingal Resistance® Units] have been martyred" in an attack on their base near Shingal city center, Haider Shasho, Ezidikhan Protection Forces commander, told Rudaw.

The Ezidikhan Protection Forces are a Yazidi division within the Peshmerga ministry.

"A civilian woman was injured in the attack," Shasho said.

"The bombardments continued every half hour until 3:00 in the morning today," he added.

YBS has remained in control of parts of Shingal since the defeat of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS). The numerous gangs in the area have been identified as one of the sources of continued insecurity that has prevented the return of thousands of Shingal’s residents who fled ISIS in 2014. Baghdad and Erbil signed an agreement in 2020 to normalize the situation in Shingal, but the deal has yet to be implemented.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
considers the YBS an offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and has targeted its positions in Shingal numerous times, killing dozens of its members, including top commanders.

This most recent strike was part of a wave of Ottoman Turkish attacks across northeast Syria (Rojava) and northern Iraq following a deadly assault by the PKK on an aerospace firm in Ankara.
PKK claimed Wednesday’s murderous attack on TUSAS, so they can’t be surprised at Turkey’s violent response.
The Ottoman Turkish interior ministry stated that 32 "targets belonging to terrorists" were "neutralized" as a result of their campaign.

In Rojava, 12 civilians have been killed as of Thursday, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Strikes continued on Friday morning and there are reports of more casualties.

A suspected Ottoman Turkish drone also flew around Makhmour camp on Thursday night, but did not conduct any strikes, according to an informed source who spoke to Rudaw on condition of anonymity.

Makhmour camp hosts around 10,000 Kurdish refugees from southeast Turkey, many of whom were displaced by the conflict between Turkey and the PKK. In September, two suspected Ottoman Turkish airstrikes hit the camp in the span of one week, killing two people and injuring four others.

The attack on the aerospace firm came amid a growing expectation that Turkey may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict, but in its statement claiming responsibility the PKK said the two are unrelated.

Four terrorists eliminated in separate KP operations: ISPR
[GEO.TV] Four faceless myrmidons were bumped off by the security forces in two separate operations in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the Inter-Serivces Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the military's media wing, an intelligence-based operation (IBO) was conducted in North Wazoo District where, ''after an intense exchange of fire, two khwarij including Kharji Insaf Ullah, were [killed].''

In another operation in Khyber District, the ISPR said, ''own troops effectively engaged the khwarij location and resultantly two khwarij were killed, while three got injured.''

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorists, who according to the military's media wing remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) as well as the innocent civilians.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Don Calamari's lawyer was getting even redder in the face...
sanitisation of the area was being carried out to eliminate any other faceless myrmidons found in the area as ''security forces of Pakistain are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country.''

A day earlier, at least six people including four cops were martyred and several others were maimed in a "suicide kaboom" in North Waziristan.

The law enforcers said that the attack targeted a police post in the Eidak area of Mir Ali. Four of the slain individuals were police personnel, they added.

The injured were shifted to hospital after a rescue operation was launched. The area was cordoned off by the security forces

Oil prices drop as Israeli strikes in Iran calm markets
[IsraelTimes] Oil prices are tumbling with the opening of trading in Asia as dealers breathe a sigh of relief that Israel’s Saturday strikes on military targets in Iran spared the country’s oil installations.

The price of North Sea Brent for delivery in December fell by 4.02 percent, to $72.99, while West Texas Intermediate plunges by 4.17% to $68.79.

Oil prices rose sharply following Iran’s October 1 ballistic missile attack on Israel, but they had already begun to fall after peaking on October 7 as it became clear Israel would likely restrict its reprisal to avoid sparking a wider conflagration.

Somalia: Landmine Blast in Mogadishu Kills Three, Wounds Others
[Garowe] landmine explosion in Mogadishu's Karaan district killed three civilians and maimed multiple others on Saturday, local sources told Garowe Online.

The IED blast occurred in the El Ali Gedi area, with the sound reverberating through nearby areas, though the intended target of the attack remains unknown.

Karaan district security personnel investigated the incident but have not detained any suspects. No group has grabbed credit, yet the attack resembles tactics typically used by al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
, a group notorious for similar attacks in Somalia.

Before the incident, Somalia's Internal Security Minister Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, along with top police and intelligence officials, conducted overnight patrols in Mogadishu to enhance security measures against a backdrop of recurrent violence.

The blast highlights the fragile security situation in Somalia's capital, where civilians are often caught in explosions and gun attacks.

The attack comes hours after the Ottoman Turkish research vessel Oruc Reis arrived at Mogadishu seaport in an attempt to conduct seismic surveys for oil and natural gas off the coast of Somalia.

Sisi unveils plan for two-day Gaza truce, release of four hostages
[GEO.TV] Egypt's President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced Sunday a proposal for a two-day truce in the Israel-Hamas war that would include a hostage release and could pave the way for a "complete ceasefire".

Sisi, whose government has been involved in mediation efforts to end the Gaza war, proposed a "two-day ceasefire" during which "four hostages would be exchanged for some prisoners in Israeli jails", followed by more negotiations within 10 days aiming to secure "a complete ceasefire and the entry of aid" into the Gaza Strip, the president told a news conference in Cairo alongside his visiting Algerian counterpart.

Glilot terrorist Rami Nasrallah had criminal record, received lenient sentence - report
Link does not exist. Here’s an earlier report from the Jerusalem Post about the attack:
Glilot truck ramming: One dead, over 30 wounded

Some 33 people were wounded to various degrees, with one succumbing to his wounds after a truck rammed into a bus stop near Glilot in central Israel on Sunday, Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom (MDA) reported on Sunday.

The Sourasky Medical Center said one of the wounded in the attack, whose condition had deteriorated, was subsequently pronounced dead by medical staff.

Earlier, MDA said that paramedics treated six seriously wounded and seven moderately wounded individuals.

Some 20 individuals who sustained light wounds and four people who suffered from anxiety were being treated by medics, MDA also stated, adding that the majority of casualties were adults.

MDA said it was transferring the wounded to the Sourasky Medical Center, the Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus, the Meir Medical Center, the Laniado Hospital, the Shamir Medical Center, and the Sheba Medical Center.

Civilians who were on-scene had shot at the truck driver and thwarted him, Israel Police reported.
Good for them. This is the other reason why it’s important to have armed citizens on the streets.
Later on Sunday, Israeli media reports identified the truck driver to be Rami Nasrallah Nator, an Israeli-Arab from Qalansawe who was reportedly known to have a criminal history.
Good to know.
Police noted that according to a preliminary examination, a bus had stopped near a bus stop in the area, after which the truck rammed into the bus and the people who were standing at the bus stop.

PARAMEDICS REPORT FROM THE SCENE
United Hatzalah volunteer paramedics Aharon Yaakobson, who was nearby and arrived first at the scene, paramedics Yaron Schiff, Eliyah Tubul, and Yair Porush reported, "It was a difficult scene with a truck, a bus, and pedestrians. We provided initial treatment at the scene to over 20 people (at this stage) who sustained varying degrees of injuries.

"Some of them were rescued by fire crews in serious condition after being trapped under the truck. Members of United Hatzalah's Psychotrauma and Crisis Response Unit also provided assistance at the scene to several people who suffered from emotional shock."

Emergency services are currently seeking blood donations to help treat the wounded, according to Channel 12.

An information center for families to locate victims will be opened in the Sourasky Medical Center, which can be contacted by dialing 1255133.

Police stated that large forces were being deployed to the area and asked that drivers divert their routes from the area.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir attended the scene of the attack, according to Israeli media, and was quoted as saying, "This incident is investigated as a terror attack, and that is how it should be investigated. I give full support to the police, to the citizens who neutralized that person who is a terrorist."
The Times of Israel adds:
Hebrew media outlets named the perpetrator Rami Nasrallah, an Arab Israeli driver from Qalansawe in central Israel. His body was sent to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for an autopsy to check if he suffered a medical condition that caused the accident, the reports said.

Many of the injured were senior citizens who had disembarked from the bus ahead of a day trip to a nearby museum to mark the national memorial day for those killed in the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre and subsequent war.

Hamas put out a statement a short while after the incident, praising the “heroic ramming attack” that was carried out near “Mossad headquarters.”

The Glilot area near Herzliya is home to the Mossad headquarters, along with several IDF intelligence units, including the high-profile signals intelligence Unit 8200.

Without taking responsibility for the apparent attack, the terror group said that it was “a natural response to the crimes of the Zionist occupation against our Palestinian people in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, and its ongoing brutal massacres, especially in the northern Gaza Strip.”

Police were probing further details, including the motive of the attack.

The owner of the truck company where the driver worked told the Kan public broadcaster that he deviated from his set route and drove towards the area where the attack took place: “He shouldn’t have been there.”

But Nasrallah’s brother Muhammad told the Ynet news site that he believed the attack was “not terrorism,” claiming his brother suffered from an unspecified illness, and that the family was not linked “to these things.”
Mental illness? Long Covid? Curious minds want to know.

“This was a regular accident. He never did anything bad to anyone in his life,” he said.

US Treasury Sec. to Netanyahu: Stop Palestinian Authority from collapsing
[IsraelNationalNews] Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen together with counterparts from several other nations has sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressing fears that the Palestinian Authority may financially collapse due to the policies of Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, Axios reported on Sunday.

Smotrich made several demands of the PA banks to prevent the illicit funding of terrorism. Until those conditions are met, the minister refuses to approve the extension of the financial correspondence between banks in Israel and the PA, which would be critical to keep the Palestinian banks, and by extension the PA, afloat.

While US officials say the Biden administration told Israel last week it had determined that the banks have met Smotrich's conditions, they fear the minister will still not approve the correspondence before the October 31st deadline.

With the deadline looming, Treasury Secretary Yellen, as well as her counterparts from Japan, Canada, the EU, the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, and France, sent Prime Minister Netanyahu a letter urging him to take steps for the extension to be approved.

"We write to emphasize our fear that actions taken by some members of your government to deny the West Bank access to financial resources endangers Israel's security and threatens to further destabilize the entire region in an already perilous moment," the ministers wrote.

According to the letter, if the extension is not improved, more than $13 billion in trade facilitated by the ties between Israeli and Palestinian banks will cease, "damaging Israel's economy and exacerbating an already dire economic situation in the West Bank."

They claimed that in such a scenario, finance flows would become less transparent and thus more dangerous, donor funds needed to stabilize the PA economy could be disrupted and Judea and Samaria and the Palestinian Authority would be destabilized.
Yea, that's too bad (not having two million terrorists within spitting distance of our cities), Madam Secretary.

Turkey turned down Kurdish offer of cooperation in Syria: Official
[Rudaw] Syrian Kurds proposed a system of governance and cooperation between the two areas of Syria still out of Damascus control and offered The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
the role of guarantor, but Ankara turned down the idea, an official from the Kurdish-led administration in northeast Syria said on Friday.

"We wanted to have a dialogue with northwest Syria to establish a decentralized system for both northwest and northeast regions of Syria to allow self-governance for both regions and Turkey act as a guarantor, but Turkey did not agree," Riyad Derar, co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council’s (SDC) Consultative Office, told Rudaw on the sidelines of a conference organized by the SDC in Brussels.

The decentralization proposal was made in 2021, but "since Syria’s fate was tied to Turkey, they couldn’t make independent decisions and were awaiting Turkey’s approval," Derar said.

Northwest Syria is under the control of Turkey-backed rebel groups. Half of Idlib province, as well as parts of Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia provinces, are the last rebel-held bastions in the country after President Bashir al-Assad seized back swathes of territory over the course of the brutal Syrian civil war.

Kurds, meanwhile, carved out an area of control in the northeast. They established their own armed forces and political entities, including the SDC, and announced an autonomous entity called the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) - also known as Rojava.

"Turkey does not want the two regions to work with each other on anything," Derar said, adding that the international community should pressure Turkey to bring peace to the region.

Throughout the Syrian conflict, Ankara has supported rebel forces opposed to the rule of Assad, including some with links to al-Qaeda and other turban groups. Turkey has also launched repeated incursions into Syrian territory, most notably against Kurds in Afrin in 2018, and continues to occupy large swathes of the country’s north.

Clashes between Turkey-backed rebel groups and Kurdish-led forces have been ongoing since the initial years of the civil war, with periodic flare-ups still occurring.

Syrians rose up against the Assad regime in March 2011, leading to a full-scale civil war that has claimed the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, left millions more in dire need of humanitarian assistance, and much of the country’s infrastructure in ruins.

More than 13 million Syrians, half the country’s pre-war population, have been displaced since the start of the civil war, and more than six million are refugees who have fled the war-torn country, according to United Nations
...an organization which on balance has done more bad than good, with the good not done well and the bad done thoroughly...
figures. Millions of Syrians are living in Turkey.

Rojava says 250,000 people without electricity after 685 Turkish strikes
Punishment for the PKK attack on TUSAS.
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish strikes on vital infrastructure in northeast Syria (Rojava) this week have left hundreds of thousands of people without water or electricity, the local administration said on Friday.

"In the areas of Kobani, Tirbespi, and Amuda, the attacks destroyed the electricity sector, leaving more than 250,000 families without power... In al-Darbasiyah, with a population of over 50,000, residents suffer from water shortages and livelihood challenges due to the aggression," read a statement from the department of foreign relations of the Kurdish-led Democratic Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (DAANES).

Ottoman Turkish strikes also targeted the Shahba and Afrin region in northwest Syria, coupled with ground attacks by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
-backed militia groups, the statement added. Oil facilities and refineries have also been attacked.

The DAANES statement labeled the Ottoman Turkish attacks "genocide" and criticized the international community for not speaking out.

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) in Rojava said on Friday that over the past few days, Ankara attacked 685 times with drones, warplanes, and artillery, killing 17 people - three soldiers, and 14 civilians.
"We condemn the international silence, which stands as a disgrace as we strive for stability and democratic solutions within the unity of Syria and its people," the statement read.

Locations in northern Iraq have also been hit.

The strikes were in retaliation for Wednesday’s attack on Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TUSAS) facilities in northern Ankara that killed five people and injured 22 others. The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) grabbed credit for the attack.

The Ottoman Turkish defense ministry said that in its strikes, 32 "targets belonging to murderous Moslems were neutralized" and that measures were undertaken to ensure civilians and the environment were not harmed. Turkey uses the term "neutralized" to denote adversaries captured, maimed, or killed.

Kurdish security forces (Asayish) in Rojava said on Friday that over the past few days, Ankara attacked 685 times with drones, warplanes, and artillery, killing 17 people - three soldiers, and 14 civilians. Another 48 people have been injured, including 39 civilians.

Turkey alleges that gangs in Rojava are a front for the PKK and have carried out several cross-border air and ground operations.

This surge of attacks came as there is growing expectation that Turkey may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict.

On Tuesday, Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli proposed allowing the PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan, who has been imprisoned since 1999, to address the Ottoman Turkish parliament and declare that the PKK has been dissolved.

Bahceli, whose ultranationalist party is an ally of Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), said that Ocalan should benefit from the "right to hope" principle that provides for the possibility of conditional release for prisoners, taking their behavior into account.

On Friday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey would continue to fight terrorism.

"Terrorists are puppets. Our goal is a Turkey without terrorism... We will not compromise on this," he told news hounds on board his flight returning from the BRICS summit in Russia, Anadolu Agency reported.

Turkey arrests over 170 for alleged PKK links
[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish security forces on Friday detained over 170 people for alleged links to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), two days after an attack on a drone manufacturing facility in the capital Ankara.

"This morning, under the coordination of our General Director of Security... we apprehended 176 PKK-linked suspects in 31 provinces in an early-morning operation," Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya told journalists in Ankara.

He made the comments after visiting people in hospital with injuries from Wednesday’s attack on a Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI)
…also, for some reason, abbreviated as TUSAS …
facility in Ankara’s northern Kahramankazan district. Five people were killed and 22 others were maimed. Eight people are still in hospital, according to the minister.

The PKK grabbed credit for the attack.

The assault "was carried out by an independent team of the Immortal Battalion. This historic act was carried out with high determination" read a statement from the PKK’s People’s Defense Center (NPG) released on Friday.

The attack came amid a growing expectation that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict, but the PKK statement said the two are unrelated.

"This event, which was planned a long time ago and was successfully implemented, has nothing to do with the political agenda of the last month that is being discussed in Turkey," the PKK said.

The aerospace firm designs and builds civilian and military aircraft, including drones. The PKK said that the "weapons manufactured by TUSAS [TAI] have killed thousands of our civilians in Kurdistan, including women and kiddies."

In response to the attack, Turkey launched strikes on alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region and Syria late on Wednesday, hitting 32 targets.

Twelve civilians have been killed as of Thursday, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Strikes have continued on Friday morning and there are reports of more casualties.

The PKK said their forces were unharmed.

Iraq’s air force kills four in strike on suspected ISIS hideout
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces on Friday announced that four people were killed in Arclight airstrike

(ISIS) hideout in Salahaddin province.

Intelligence forces identified an ISIS hideout in the Palakana area of eastern Salahaddin, the Security Media Cell said in a statement.

"After cross-checking and analyzing information... our brave air force, using F-16 jets, carried out a precise and successful airstrike at 17:50 on Friday. The strike turned the hideout into rubble over the terrorists, killing them," read the statement.

The hideout "contained weapons, ammunition, explosives, and various logistical and technical supplies," it added.

Earlier this week, Iraqi forces conducted a joint operation with the global coalition in the Hamrin Mountains, killing nine senior ISIS officials, including the jihadists’ top leader in Iraq. Two US soldiers were maimed in the operation.

PKK claims responsibility for Ankara aerospace firm attack
[Rudaw] The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has grabbed credit for Wednesday’s attack on a Ottoman Turkish aerospace facility in Ankara.

The assault "was carried out by an independent team of the Immortal Battalion. This historic act was carried out with high determination" read a statement from the PKK’s People’s Defense Center (NPG) released on Friday.

The Ottoman Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. (TAI) facility in Ankara’s northern Kahramankazan district was attacked by two assailants on Wednesday. Five people were killed and 22 injured.

The NPG statement said that Mine Sevjin Alcicek, nicknamed Asya Ali, and Ali Orek, known by his nom de guerre Rojger Helin, carried out the attack, confirming earlier Ottoman Turkish identification of the assailants.

’s interior ministry on Thursday said the assailants were "neutralized" and that they were PKK members.

The attack came amid a growing expectation that Turkey may restart peace talks with the PKK to bring an end to the 40-year conflict, but the PKK statement said the two are unrelated.

In response to the attack, Turkey launched strikes on alleged PKK positions in the Kurdistan Region and Syria late on Wednesday, stating that 32 "targets belonging to terrorists" were "neutralized." Twelve civilians have been killed as of Thursday, according to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Strikes have continued on Friday morning and there are reports of more casualties.

The PKK said their forces were unharmed.

"Attacks were made against civilian targets in western Kurdistan [Rojava] and Sinjar, which naturally have nothing to do with us and the action [aerospace attack]," the PKK said.

This week’s violence may scupper hopes for peace talks.

Reports of a renewed drive for peace began earlier this month with Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli, who shook hands with members of the DEM Party in the legislature. Bahceli also proposed inviting jugged

PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan to address the Ottoman Turkish parliament and declare the dissolution of his gang.

In a further step, the government decided to allow Ocalan to meet his family, ending more than four years of isolation. After the meeting, Ocalan's nephew and DEM Party politician Omer Ocalan shared on X on Thursday morning a message from his uncle that he can transition the violence into a political process.

said Turkey would continue to fight terrorism.

"Terrorists are puppets. Our goal is a Turkey without terrorism... We will not compromise on this," he told news hounds on board his flight returning from the BRICS summit in Russia, Anadolu Agency reported.

#4  Iran’s Guards chief warns of ‘bitter, unimaginable consequences’ for Israel’s strike

I dunno. When I try to imagine the consequences, despite their post-apocalyptic nature, I feel all warm and fuzzy.

If the Juice attack first while the mullahs are massing their resources, does it change the timeline for dire revenge when all the revenging stuff gets blown up? Along with some more of the manufacturing infrastructure?

#5  Well, there's revenge, dire revenge, direr revenge, and direst revenge. I think they're promising direr revenge, but if the IDF strikes first maybe they'll be limited to ordinary revenge, or possibly a strongly worded letter.

Israel set to pass bills shutting down UNRWA despite int'l pressure
[Jpost] The Knesset is set to pass two bills on Monday that would shut down the United Nations Relief and Works Agency operations in east Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank within 90 days, despite a massive international pressure campaign against such a step.

A source in the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed to The Jerusalem Post that the bills were expected to pass.

Foreign Ministers from Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement expressing their "grave concern" over the shutdown, particularly in light of the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza due to the war.
As long as UNRWA exists, the only solution to the "Palestinian Problem" is the destruction of Israel - in your dreams, Amalek!

The bills passed 92-10, with support from the opposition parties National Unity, Yisrael Beytenu, and Yesh Atid. The Democrats party abstained.
The Democrats (Hebrew: הדמוקרטים, romanized: HaDemokratim) is a Zionist political party in Israel, formed by the merger of the centre-left Israeli Labor Party and the left-wing Meretz party in July 2024.
