MOSCOW, October 29 - RIA Novosti, Andrey Kots. The situation in the north of Syria in the coming days may become seriously tense. Turkey has deployed to hundreds of military border. More than 200 trucks delivered ammunition, weapons and special equipment to Idlib province. RIA Novosti reports on the risks of another exacerbation.
General offensive
Turkey plans to advance on a wide front to close two-thirds of the 910-kilometer border. Judging by the photos on social networks, Ankara does not waste time on trifles: tanks, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and air defense systems are being transferred to Syria. The last time the region was pumped up with troops and equipment in this way was in the winter of 2020 - before Operation Spring Shield.
First of all, analysts say, Ankara wants to neutralize the threat from the Kurds who have settled in northern Syria. In 2016-2019, the Turks captured several areas there and today control the border from Bandar Khan to Ras al-Ein, as well as from Jerabulus to the Mediterranean coast.
However, the territory between Jerabulus and Bandar Khan has been in the hands of the Kurdish YPG for many years. One of the main targets of the upcoming operation is the border town of Kobani, 415 kilometers northeast of Damascus. The Kurds have been defending it since 2012: first from IS *, and then from the Turkish army.
According to Bloomberg, Ankara is going to take over the area south of Kobani in order to link the two regions under its control and to further gain a foothold in northern Syria. The formal reason for the military operation is the attacks of the Kurds on the Turkish security forces.
"The latest attack on our policemen and sorties aimed at our lands have already exhausted the cup of patience," Erdogan said.
Old question
The second, less obvious goal of Ankara is to cover its proxies in Idlib from a possible Damascus strike. It is no secret that the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in recent months has been building up a group that is trying to liberate the troubled province. A kind of layered cake was formed from the Turkish military, extremist groups controlled by Ankara, free gangs fighting against everyone, and units of the government army, operating with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Syrian troops launched a major offensive in the winter and spring of 2020, liberating 35 settlements, 320 square kilometers of territory.
By the end of January, the CAA occupied the city of Maarrat-en-Nuuman in the southeast of the province, taking control of the most important section of the Hama-Aleppo road. And on February 5, she entered the key settlement of Serakib at the intersection of the Aleppo-Hama and Aleppo-Latakia highways.
This provoked the discontent of Ankara, which demanded an ultimatum from Damascus to withdraw its troops to the positions they had occupied before. Syria has not responded. Therefore, the Turks and their proxies attacked the SAA along the entire front. In response, on February 27, the Syrians bombed a Turkish convoy - 33 soldiers and officers were killed. After that, Ankara launched Operation Spring Shield, widely using Bayraktar TB2 attack drones.
The CAA retreated. The situation was partially stabilized on March 5, after the talks between the presidents of Russia and Turkey in Moscow on an armistice. Putin and Erdogan agreed to end hostilities, withdraw troops and create a security corridor along the M-4 Latakia-Aleppo highway. Also, joint patrols were organized in this area.
Old question
Russia has its own interests in the region, which do not always coincide with Turkey's. Recently, the media published photos of a Su-35S fighter at the Kamyshly airbase in northern Syria, which was not used by Russian aviation before. In the West, this was regarded as a warning to Turkey. However, it is not yet clear how far Ankara will go.
The Turkish parliament last Tuesday extended the permission to use the army in Iraq and Syria until October 2023. This was supported by deputies from the ruling Justice and Development Party, as well as the National Movement Party, and the opposition Republican People's Party and the pro-Kurdish People's Democracy Party opposed it. Obviously, Erdogan is betting on political allies and hopes to raise his ratings through a "small victorious war."
However, a Turkish offensive could run counter to American interests. Those have long and consistently supported the Syrian Kurds, and consider them allies. Probably, Ankara decided to exacerbate the situation in order to get additional trump cards in the negotiations between Erdogan and Biden, which are to be held in Glasgow within the framework of the UN conference on climate change from November 1 to 12.
It is not the first time for the Turkish leader to use military force to achieve political preferences. We will remind, Ankara has already deployed powerful military contingents to the Syrian borders in September, a week before Erdogan's meeting with Putin.
[Daily Caller] Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, one of the most prominent Republican critics of former President Donald Trump, announced his retirement from Congress Friday.
Kinzinger was one of 10 Republicans to vote to impeach Trump in January for inciting an attack on the Capitol as Congress met to certify President Joe Biden’s victory. He and Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney are the only Republicans serving on a select committee investigating the events of that day, and the panel has not ruled out subpoenaing Trump to testify before it.
Kinzinger praised his nine Republican colleagues who joined him in impeaching Trump, did not rule out a run for future office. He is expected to continue leading Country First, his political action committee that he formed earlier in 2021 in a bid to lessen Trump’s grip on the GOP.
His announcement also came just hours after Democrats in the Illinois legislature released another congressional map for the next decade. They have complete control over the redistricting process and have weighed how heavily to gerrymander the state’s districts, and the most recent map would have had Kinzinger facing off against fellow Republican Rep. Darin LaHood in one of just three GOP seats.

[Free West Media] MITRE has been awarded huge security state contracts to pioneer invasive spy technology, including the implementation of digital vaccine passports.
The organization is a non-profit corporation run by military-intelligence professionals contracted by the Department of Defense, FBI, and national security sector, reported The Grayzone.
MITRE’s effort "to expand QR code vaccine passports beyond states like California and New York" is a public-private partnership known as the Vaccine Credential Initiative (VCI) described by Forbes as a "cloak and dagger [research and development] shop" that is "the most important organization you’ve never heard of".
Elizabeth Renieris, the founding director of Notre Dame and IBM’s technology ethics lab, worries that MITRE would "pursue new revenue streams in healthcare and financial services...privately owned and operated ID systems with profit-maximizing business models threaten the privacy, security, and other fundamental rights of individuals and communities".
In January 2021, several WEF partners, including Microsoft, Oracle, Salesforce, and other mega-corporations announced the launch of the Vaccine Credential Initiative (VCI) in order to roll out QR code-based vaccine passports across the US.
"A non-profit established by the Rockefeller Foundation and called The Commons Project is leading the lobbying push for digital SMART cards through the VCI it co-founded. And Commons Project CEO Paul Meyer happens to have been cultivated by the WEF as a ’young leader’," according to The Grayzone.
Based in Northern Virginia, the military-intelligence think tank MITRE receives $2 billion a year from US agencies including the US Department of Defense and is run by mostly former Pentagon officials and ex-intelligence operatives. It was founded in 1958 as a joint project of the US Air Force and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to develop "command and control" systems for nuclear and conventional warfare.
Noam Chomsky was incidentally one of their early appointments for the "development of a program to establish natural language as an operational language for command and control".
Thus MITRE’s SQUINT browser plugin app, for example, "enables rapid social media situational awareness of COVID-19-related misinformation for public health officials through crowd-sourced reporting," according to promotional material.
The CIA’s venture capital firm, In-Q-Tel, is also listed among MITRE’s Covid-19 Healthcare Coalition. In-Q-Tel’s VP Dan Hanfling told the Washington Post in September that unvaccinated people should be denied healthcare: "That group of individuals who have willingly chosen not to vaccinate, for illegitimate reasons, it would be fair to place them at the back of the line."
The Washington Post omitted the mention of Hanfling’s affiliation with the CIA and instead it described him as an "emergency physician".
The Chairman of MITRE’s Board of Trustees, Donald Kerr, served as the deputy director for science and technology at the CIA, where he received the CIA Distinguished Intelligence Medal.

Absolutely shocking! Who could have imagined a potential connection ?
BTW, MITRE is a Not-For-Profit. A senior analyst with MITRE can make as much or more than a high-grade GG or SES. If you land a contractor position at MITRE, you've hit the beltway motherlode. Non-WOKE applicants need not apply.
[City Journal] AT&T Corporation has created a racial reeducation program that promotes the idea that "American racism is a uniquely white trait" and boosts left-wing causes such as "reparations," "defund police," and "trans activism."
I have obtained a cache of internal documents about the company’s initiative, called Listen Understand Act, which is based on the core principles of critical race theory, including "intersectionality," "systemic racism," "white privilege," and "white fragility." CEO John Stankey launched the program last year and, subsequently, has told employees that private corporations such as AT&T have an "obligation to engage on this issue of racial injustice" and push for "systemic reforms in police departments across the country."
According to a senior employee, who agreed to speak on condition of anonymity, managers at AT&T are now assessed annually on diversity issues, with mandatory participation in programs such as discussion groups, book clubs, mentorship programs, and race reeducation exercises. White employees, the source said, are tacitly expected to confess their complicity in "white privilege" and "systemic racism," or they will be penalized in their performance reviews. As part of the overall initiative, employees are asked to sign a loyalty pledge to "keep pushing for change," with suggested "intentions" such as "reading more about systemic racism" and "challenging others’ language that is hateful." "If you don’t do it," the senior employee says, "you’re [considered] a racist." AT&T did not respond when asked for comment.
On the first page of AT&T’s Listen Understand Act internal portal, the company encourages employees to study a resource called "White America, if you want to know who’s responsible for racism, look in the mirror." The article claims that the United States is a "racist society" and lays out its thesis plainly: "White people, you are the problem. Regardless of how much you say you detest racism, you are the sole reason it has flourished for centuries." The author, Dahleen Glanton, writes that "American racism is a uniquely white trait" and that "Black people cannot be racist." White women, she claims, "have been telling lies on black men since they were first brought to America in chains," and, along with their white male counterparts, "enjoy the opportunities and privileges that white supremacy affords [them]."
Yes, we really do need to take out these grifting little shakedown artists. Out of this country, to a shithole in Africa so they can perform their shakedown routines there

This attitude leads to blood, they really need to go back to King's ideal.
[Red State] There’s been a major shift when it comes to the governor’s race in Virginia over the past two weeks.
As we reported earlier, now the Real Clear Politics average of polls is showing Youngkin ahead of Terry McAuliffe for the first time just a few short days before the election.
That’s in part due to a stunning Fox poll which shows Youngkin up over McAuliffe by eight percent. As Fox notes, that’s basically a complete reversal of the race from two weeks ago. It was 51-46% with McAuliffe up two weeks ago. Now, however, it’s Youngkin up, 53-45% among likely voters.
That’s a stunning move within two weeks and it’s beyond the margin of error. Youngkin also leads with registered voters, by one percent.
The difference has been the education questions which are powering up the GOP base, as well as bringing in independents and even Democrats. McAuliffe is still trying to defend his campaign-killing comment that parents "shouldn’t be telling schools what they should teach." Meanwhile, 79 percent of Youngkin supporters are "extremely" interested in the election compared to 69 percent of McAuliffe supporters.

...IF this is true - and The Ol' Perfessor at Instapundit seems to be cautiously confident - it still ain't over. McAuliffe is lining up his lawfare team, and I think he'd burn the Old Dominion to the ground rather than lose.
Way too much is at stake here. The only way to avoid a messy scorched-earth campaign by the Dems is for Youngkin to win by at least what Fox is showing.

Re #2: George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley wrote that McAuliffe hiring Elias is an "astonishing move."
"There are a host of election lawyers but McAuliffe selected an attorney accused of lying to the media, advancing rejected conspiracy theories, and currently involved in a major federal investigation that has already led to the indictment of his former partner," Turley wrote.
"McAuliffe may be preparing to challenge any win by Republican Glenn Youngkin," he wrote on Twitter.

yes paper ballots are safer but not foolproof
e.g.,
back in 2008 Al Franken won based on paper ballots that 'showed up' late in the counting
02, the D candidate for senate in SD won 92% of 3000+ votes in the Pine Ridge reservation in an election he won by about 500 votes total - of the votes from the reservation - many by absentee with suspicious signatures (no ID required)
we need voter ID to minimize fraud (it won't end fraud, there will still be people who harvest in long term care, people who impersonate, etc. but these will be limited)

For me, the shock was not that the Dems would try to rig the election, but that no one would call them on it. Even the Supreme Court. Lack of standing? Seriously? More like nobody would stand up and do their job.

Not complicated, as so many here (and around the world) have pointed out: photo IDs and signatures. Verification by official observers representing the main parties. Hand counting at the local level -- again, observed by representatives of each party.
No ridiculous tallying by private software companies. No internet-connected servers involved. Strict enforcement of deadlines, ID requirements, verification, chain of custody.
Anyone who pushes back on any of the above obvious, sane, simple requirements of a free and fair election is clearly trying to get away with lying or cheating or stealing.

[BREITBART] Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) proposed Thursday to axe unused government programs in her latest proposal to eliminate federal waste, fraud, and abuse.
As Democrats remain poised to vote on trillions of dollars of infrastructure spending, Ernst discussed the need to eliminate unused government funding to reduce the federal deficit.
The Iowa conservative noted that the U.S. Enrichment Corporation Fund, which she said fulfilled its mission to privatize nuclear enrichment decades ago, still receives $1.5 billion in taxpayer funding.
The Presidential Election Campaign Fund has not supported a single candidate in five years but still has $400 million in idle funding. Ernst said tens of millions are added every year.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires every state to offer health insurance plans through the Multi-State Plan, which costs tens of millions of dollars to administer and does not provide coverage in any state due to lack of participation from any state.
Arkansas was the only state to even attempt to participate with the Multi-State Plan but did not end up administering a Multi-State Plan.
Subsequently, Ernst sponsored legislation to repeal these three programs.
Ernst also proposed the Zombie Programs Survival Guide Act, which would require the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to provide a hit list of other government programs that continue past their lifespan.
Asked by Breitbart News as to why Democrats would pursue billions of dollars in tax increases to pay for their infrastructure bills rather than find government waste, Ernst said:
It takes a lot of work to ferret out waste, fraud, abuse, potential savings, from the federal government, and they don’t want to do that. I mean, it’s just it is easier to raise taxes on the American taxpayer and just force everybody to pay for these programs rather than doing the right thing. And I get so discouraged when I see that type of activity, knowing there are solutions out there; we’ve got to work for those solutions. I think people would appreciate Congress much more if they knew we were really paying attention to their dollars rather than being so wasteful.

[An Nahar] Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri ...Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians... ’s political aide MP Ali Hassan Khalil on Thursday lashed out at Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... chief MP Jebran Bassil without naming him."We’re the ones who were killed in Tayyouneh and those who are small-minded are seeking to stir discord between the real duo," Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Bassil had on Wednesday accused Khalil’s Amal Movement of "colluding" with the LF at the expense of the victims of the Tayyouneh incidents and the Beirut port blast.
Separately, Khalil criticized the FPM’s stances and its walkout Thursday from a legislative session discussing the electoral law’s amendments.
"It has become clear that there is a side that does not want the organization of the parliamentary elections and is seeking the polls’ postponement," Khalil said.
"We stress that we insist on holding the elections within the constitutional timeframes because canceling the vote would lead to unknown consequences in the country," the politician warned.
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the US imposed sanctions on a Libyan national accused of abusing migrants colonists. This comes amid growing alarms over human trafficking and inhumane conditions in the key gateway state to Europe.
In a statement, the US Department of State said it had frozen any assets and criminalized any transactions with Osama al-Kuni Ibrahim, 45. He is described as the manager of the al-Nasr detention center in al-Zawiya, some 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... .
Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken said that al-Kuni carried out "horrific abuses" against mostly African migrants colonists, including killings and sexual violence.
"Today’s action promotes accountability and exposes the mistreatment, exploitation and violence being perpetrated against vulnerable migrants colonists transiting Libya in pursuit of a better life," the US Secretary of State said. He called on Libya’s Government of National Unity (GNU) to hold al-Kuni and others perpetrating human rights ...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty... abusers accountable.
The action follows a similar designation on Monday by the sanctions committee of the UN Security Council, which called on all nations to ban al-Kuni from transiting through and to freeze any funds linked to him.
Human traffickers have profited from Libya’s chaos since the 2011 overthrow of Muammer Qadaffy.
European nations led by Italia have financed the Libyan Coast Guard, to return migrants colonists to Libya. Human rights groups say that those sent back are often sent to jails mired in corrupt management and deplorable conditions.

He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess... urged governments to stop sending people back to Libya, voicing sadness at the "inhumane violence" perpetrated against migrants colonists including children.

[An Nahar] Lead investigator in the Beirut port blast Judge Tarek Bitar suspended Thursday a scheduled session for hearing ex-Prime Minister Hassan Diab ...Former Leb PM. He is a Sunni Muslim. In October 2021, Diab was mentioned in the Pandora Papers due to his ownership of a shell company in the British Virgin Islands.... 's testimony after the latter filed a lawsuit that will pause his prosecution until a decision is made.
On Wednesday, one day before his scheduled session, Diab filed a lawsuit against the state.
Ex-minister and incumbent MP Nouhad al-Mashnouq also filed a lawsuit today against the state.
Al-Mashnouq’s session is scheduled on October 29. The suit will prevent Bitar from interrogating him until a decision is made.
Last month al-Mashnouq’s interrogation was suspended after he filed a dismissal request against Bitar accusing him of bias. The legal complaint temporary suspended the investigation.
Ex-ministers Ali Hassan Khalil and Ghazi Zoaiter, also charged with negligence, filed a lawsuit Wednesday before the Court of Cassation.
The three former ministers and incumbent MPs Mashnouq, Khalil and Zoaiter, along with ex-minister Youssef Finianos, have repeatedly filed requests to dismiss Bitar, but the Court of Cassation and the Court of Appeals dismissed the lawsuits.
A formal request from the breakaway government of Donetsk People's Republic was transmitted to the Ukrainian government requesting the entry of humanitarian supplies to the residents of village recently taken over by Ukrainian forces, according to data supplied by officials with Russian backed separatist forces.
The previous day a Ukrainian military unit entered the village of Staromaryevka in the gray zone between the lines of Russian backed separatists and Ukrainian forces. Neither side released any data as to casualties or to combat, so it is assumed that the village as taken without a shot -- and to the rebel's complete surprise.
So far the Ukrainian ministry of defense to date has remarked on the Ukrainian operation.
According to the DPR Ministry of Defense: "Staromaryevka is located in the 'gray zone' 10 km west of Telmanovo, the administrative center of the DPR district of the same name."
It was previously reported by the DPR minister of foreign affairs, Natalia Nikonorova, that Ukrainian military units made their stab at Staromaryevka three days ago, using 82mm and 120mm mortar fire in support. The nearby village of Granitnoye was a position held by Ukrainian troops, where the mortar fire originated.
According to a separate report supplied by the separatists, elements of the Ukrainian 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade commanded by Vyacheslav Kotlik, were involved in the takeover and the artillery fire.
The report said that artillery fire had severed a 300mm diameter water pipe in Telemanovo.
A separate Russian backed militia news account which appeared in novorosinform.org, reported several residents of Staromaryevka were arrested by Ukrainian military units. The presumed detachment commander of the Ukrainian operation, Georgy Medvedev, reported on the arrests, and also reported Ukrainian units already left the Staromaryevka.
Elements of the Ukrainian 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, commanded Dmitry Bryzhinsky, also were responsible for artillery firing on Zaistevo and in Gorlovka. Both villages have been under Ukrainian artillery fire since the beginning of the war in 2014.
Other separatist reports are that Ukrainian artillery was fired on Yasinovataya, Dokuchaevsk and Staromikhaylovka.
The report said that criminal cases were being prepared for the attacks.
DPR defense spokesman Lt. Colonel Eduard Basurin said an overflight of a drone, commissioned by the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), was jammed by Ukrainian electronic intelligence units.
The announcement did not specify if the drone's flight and functions were impaired, but did specify the number of villages, all in southwestern Donetsk, which were reached by the drone.
The Ukrainian side reported, according to data supplied by the Ukrainian language daily, lb.ua, that the separatists dropped an explosive device from a drone in Granitnoye, severely wounding on unidentified Ukrainian soldier.'
The report also said Ukrainian units observed a drone enter and leave Ukriaian airspace. It is possible that was the OSCE drone.
According a news report in the Russian language daily rusonline.org, the Ukrainian units tasked with capturing Staromaryevka has requested, but have been denied orders to withdraw. This after expectations the position would be reinforced by the Ukrainians.
The subtext is that separatist units defending the area have yet to withdraw, and likely have the village under observation.
[THEEPOCHTIMES] Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, Jimmy Patronis, suggested that In-N-Out Burger should move to the Sunshine State after several In-N-Out locations were shut down by Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, officials.Patronis appealed to In-N-Out CEO Lynsi Snyder to move to the state, arguing that Florida has a superior business climate—noting the state has no personal income tax, low corporate taxes, and no mandates.
"I’m writing you today not only as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer, but as a small business owner who grew up in a family-owned restaurant and worked there for more than 30 years," his letter reads. "I know how hard it is to turn a profit and make payroll on a good day, let alone when your own government is working to crush your business with absurd mandates. Once I heard the news of your shutdown for refusing to act as ’vaccine police,’ I knew I had to reach out immediately."
It came as health officials in Contra Costa County, Calfornia, shut down another In-N-Out Burger location for allowing indoor dining without checking customers for proof of vaccination, coming after a location was closed in nearby the Socialist paradise of San Francisco ...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964... for a similar reason.
Contra Costa County District 1 Supervisor John Gioia claimed that In-N-Out’s staff in Pleasant Hill "have just flouted the law."
"It was other residents who complained about them," he told ABC7. "That is why the health department followed up and issued fines."
The Contra Costa Environmental Health said in a news release the commercial food permit for the Pleasant Hill location was suspended Tuesday "for creating a public health hazard by repeatedly violating a county health order intended to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission."
"Despite repeated notices of violation and fine, this business continued to permit indoor dining on site without verifying the COVID-19 vaccination status or recent, negative test result of customers," the blurb from Contra Costa health officials also said.
The restaurant chain, which has numerous locations across the West Coast, said its staff will not check the vaccination status of customers.
"The reason for the closure is that In-N-Out Associates were not actively demanding vaccine documentation and photo identification from each dine-in Customer before serving them," In-N-Out Chief legal officer Arnie Wensinger said in a statement to local media after the Contra Costa location was closed.
"We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government," he added. "It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe to force our restaurant Associates to segregate Customers into those who may be served and those who may not, whether based on the documentation they carry, or any other reason."
Wensinger continued to say that the chain doesn’t agree "with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business."
The move comes about two weeks after another In-N-Out Burger in San Francisco’s Fisherman Warf was closed down for allowing indoor dining without having its staff check whether they’re vaccinated or not. A vaccine passport mandate was implemented in San Francisco earlier this year by Democrat Mayor London Breed, and similar systems have been implemented in New York City, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and several other U.S. cities.

California says: "Let them eat brioche arugula!" Fast food places are so middle-class bourgeoisie!

It's a huge market. Most of the players won't abandon it, and none of them will have a problem with one or two of their competitors doing so. As for Florida, I wish Raising Cane's would open some locations here. I love that stuff...

In-N-Out burger joints in California are gold mines. They have cars lined up for blocks before lunch time to buy hamburgers. I was in one recently and surprised to see they have actual white teenagers working there...kinda like all burger places were in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Back then it was an entry level job for kids to get a little spending money and a taste of the working world. It was never meant to be a career that would allow illegal aliens to buy homes and support their families. California's loss will be Florida's gain.

In-N-Out also pays their staff well and they seem happy. Perhaps it's because the management has a religious basis?
Recently, Lynsi Snyder, the only grandchild of In-N-Out founders Harry and Esther Snyder spoke with The Christian Post about the fast-food chain and her own understanding of religion. From the outside, it may look like she has it all, including billions of dollars; however, that money came from loss. Her uncle, Richard Snyder, died in a plane crash in 1993 and her father, H. Guy Snyder, died of an accidental drug overdose in 1999, causing her at age 28 to become president of the company and sole owner when she turned 35.
Religion has always played a big role in the fast food restaurant. According to Lynsi Snyder in her interview with CP, "It was my uncle Rich who put the Bible verses on the cups and wrappers in the early '90s, just before he passed away," she recalled. "He had just accepted the Lord and wanted to put that little touch of his faith on our brand. It's a family business and will always be, and that's a family touch."
Shortly after his death and the death of her father, Lynsi added bible verses to the fry boats, coffee cups, and hot cocoa cups along with the burger wrappers to reflect the company's beliefs.

[FOXNEWS] Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe's campaign raised eyebrows by spending nearly $60,000 to hire a high-profile attorney known for criminal masterminding election-related legal challenges. When Fox News sent the campaign a request for comment, the McAuliffe campaign scrambled to "kill" the story, according to emails mistakenly sent to Fox News.
Less than a month before Election Day, McAuliffe's campaign spent $53,680 on the services of the Elias Law Group, a firm that Marc Elias started earlier this year, Fox News previously reported. Elias had formerly worked as a partner at the law firm Perkins Coie, which the Crooked Hillary Clinton ...former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, Conqueror of Benghazi, Heroine of Tuzla, formerly described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away. Politix is not one of her talents, but it's something she keeps trying to do... campaign hired in 2016 in order to conduct opposition research on Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... — research that included the infamous Remington Christopher Steele dossier. Republicans have accused Elias of lying to hide the Clinton campaign's role in funding the dossier.
Elias has represented Democrats in efforts to contest elections. Going into the 2020 election, he represented Democrats challenging a Texas law barring "straight-ticket voting."
House Republicans accused Elias of having a "serious conflict of interest" when he represented Iowa Democratic candidate Rita Hart in her effort to overturn the results of her extremely narrow loss to Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks. GOP members House Administration Committee said that Elias had a conflict because he and Perkins Coie — where he still worked at the time — also represented half of the Democratic committee members who would be deciding the case.
George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley wrote that McAuliffe hiring Elias is an "astonishing move."

Department of Justice (DOJ) announced guilty pleas on 12 individuals across 7 construction companies in Marion County [South Carolina] involved in an illegal hiring and fraud scheme. It is now the largest criminal Internal Revenue Service (IRS) operation in the region’s history. Executives at Daniel Lavoie Construction Services, Duran Masonry, Extreme Siding, Master Homes Calabash, Metro Concrete Finishers, Master Homes Design Center, and Paint By Numbers pleaded guilty for their involvement in the scheme that defrauded the government out of millions of dollars and cheated qualified Americans out of construction jobs.
Basically if you bid and get a federal construction job you must pay the local prevailing wages on public works projects for laborers and mechanics (re:'union').
Do you really believe those illegals were being paid that? If they weren't, who was grifting the difference?
[JPost] If the West cracked down on investments and the countries facilitating them, the Gaza-based terrorist group’s destructive activities could be impaired.
Hamas is concealing secret foreign investments worth hundreds of millions of dollars in seemingly legitimate businesses, The Jerusalem Post has learned.
Furthermore, if the West cracked down on these investments and the countries facilitating them, some of the Gaza-based terrorist group’s destructive activities could be impaired, according to the Double Cheque website and former Mossad officials.
Intelligence information indicates that from the early 2000s until 2018, Hamas controlled some 40 commercial companies in Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Algeria and Sudan, Double Cheque reported.
Most of the companies involved are in the real-estate and infrastructure sectors. Through the companies, Hamas manages huge projects and has a reliable way to conceal around $500 million in assets, the article said.

[NYPOST] The Vatican’s press office on Thursday canceled plans to broadcast livestream video of President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S., who gives the term geriatric a bad name. He blames Afghans for losing Afghanistan....... meeting on Friday with Pope Francis ...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity (so to speak) within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess... and now will only broadcast the arrival of Biden’s motorcade.
It’s unclear if the White House, already under fire for limiting press access to Biden, requested that the broadcast be curtailed. Spokespeople did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
White House Correspondents’ Association President Steven Portnoy said the organization disagrees with the new plan to give journalists edited footage after the meeting.
"Reporters have been covering the papal audiences of American presidents since Woodrow Wilson sat [with] Benedict [XV] in January 1919," tweeted Portnoy, a news hound for CBS News Radio. "Our fully vaccinated [and] masked pool of news hounds is ready to continue this public service, mindful of its own safety as well as the leaders’, to ensure independent coverage of the first Catholic president in 60 [years] meeting with the head of the Catholic church."
Portnoy added: "The [White House] told us the bilateral meeting would involve Biden [and] Francis discussing substantive matters of global significance ’including ending the COVID-19 pandemic, tackling the climate crisis, and caring for the poor.’ Such an international news event demands independent coverage."
The News Agency that Dare Not be Named reports that the Vatican for years has streamed video of the pope’s meetings with visiting world leaders.
Biden is the second Catholic president and has met with Pope Francis on three previous occasions, though not as president. The visit follows a meeting this month between Francis and House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments... (D-Calif.).
The pope, 84, has dismissed a push by more conservative US bishops to deny Communion to Catholic politicians who support legal access to child sacrifice abortion, such as Pelosi and Biden. The US bishops will meet next month to discuss the idea.
Press-access issues plagued Biden’s first foreign trip to Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... in June. US news hounds were abruptly disinvited from covering a meeting between Biden and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... ’s authoritarian leader His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than there are in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really most important... — leaving US news hounds relying on Erdogan’s press office for information. And Biden watched in apparent amusement as Russian President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... ’s security team shoved US news hounds out of an introductory pool spray.

Faith in Communism. The morals of a panty-sniffer.
Biden then presented the coin to Francis, pointing out the US Seal on the front and the emblem for the 261st Signal Brigade unit in the Delaware Army National Guard that Biden's son, Beau, served in on the back. "I know my son would want me to give this to you," he said.
"Now the tradition is, and I'm only kidding about this," Biden said as he put the coin into the Pope's hand. "If next time I see you and you don't have it, you have to buy the drinks."
"I'm the only Irishman you've ever met who's never had a drink," he quickly added, to which the Pope responded through his translator that Irish people "love whiskey."

'the pope is infallible in matters of faith and morals.
What it means is that the question is off the table. Not being a democratic institution, it's sort of like a judge who says 'that can not be entered as evidence'. Consider its the Vatican's exclusionary rule.

Because that would actually contribute to solving the problem. A career politician would never, ever, do that!

Send them to Houston, New Orleans, and Jacksonville - all 3 of those are major ports with the infrastructure to handle containers and plenty of rail connections to "inland ports" for distribution across the USA - Houston to the west coast, New Orleans up the Mississippi to the mid-america, and Jax to the east coast.
State gov in all 3 places is a lot more friendly than Forna-calia.
[MSN] Even in this white-hot partisan moment, the Senate is a pretty genteel place. Senators view themselves as part of a very elite club -- and tend to treat fellow members with kid gloves.
Which is why what Washington Sen. Patty Murray ... Senator-for-life (D) from Washington state, reputedly not the sharpest intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body. To hear Patty tell it, if we'd built roads and bridges like Osama bin Laden had 9-11 never would have happened... (D) said on Wednesday about fellow Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin ...Dem senator-for-life from West Virginia. Manchin is one of the approximately one Dem senators who exhibits more integrity than Jello, often even representing his constituents... all the more eye-opening about the current state of affairs in the world's greatest deliberative body.
"We're not going to let one man tell all the women in this country that they can't have paid leave," Murray said.
What she was referring to was the apparent decision by the White House and congressional negotiators to drop a provision in President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S., father of Hunter. He blames Trump for losing Afghanistan.... 's social safety net legislation that would offer four weeks of paid family and medical leave to all Americans.
The provision was -- and is -- considered absolutely essential to many liberals who note that America is one of only six countries in the world without some sort of national paid leave program.
But Manchin seemed to nix it on Wednesday. "I just can't do it," he said of supporting paid leave. "To expand social programs when you have trust funds that aren't solvent, they're going insolvent. I can't explain that. It doesn't make sense to me. I want to work with everyone as long as we can start paying for things. That's all. I can't put this burden on my grandchildren. I've got 10 grandchildren ... I just can't do it."
New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand ...Machine non-entity selected to become the successor to Hillary Clinton as Senatrix-for-Life from Noo Yawk. She is running for the Dem presidential nomination in 2020. She has no observable principles, will apparently say anything to anyone, and seemingly lacks any personality of her own.... , a prominent voice in the Senate in favor of the measure, insisted that she would continue the fight. "I'm not giving up and I'm not going to give up until the deal is signed," she said Wednesday.
Which, well, maybe.
The rancor directed at Manchin by Murray stands in stark contrast to the way Biden has approached the moderate senator from West Virginia. Biden has been very careful not to name-call or express any public frustration with Manchin or Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who has also been resistant to the hefty price tag that the social safety net measure carries. At a CNN ...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for... town hall last week, Biden was positive about Manchin, arguing that he's "not a bad guy. He's a friend."
Murray took a different tack on Wednesday, the latest sign that his colleagues -- especially those on the liberal left -- are getting fed up with Manchin and his likes and dislikes when it comes to the domestic spending plan in Congress.
That said, it's not clear whether Murray's frustration will, well, do anything. Manchin represents a state Donald Trump ...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...... won overwhelmingly in 2020 and being regarded by liberals as too conservative is good for his politics back home. Plus, the White House badly needs Manchin's vote, with Democrats only controlling 50 votes in the Senate they can't afford to lose even a single one if they want to find a way to get this measure and Biden's $1.2 trillion "hard" infrastructure plan passed -- and soon.

"We're not going to let one man tell all the women in this country that they can't have paid leave," Murray said.
People like Murray and Sanders keep talking about Manchin and Sinema as if they are just two senators standing in the way of what the whole country wants. That's not true. Manchin and Sanders are two out of 100 senators and a vice-president who can break a tie. But that's typical of the dishonest and misleading way that Democrats always speak.

[JPost] 31 suspects were investigated by Turkish police on charges of "provocatively" eating bananas in social media posts.
11 Syrians were arrested and seven will be deported from Turkey on charges of "provocatively" eating bananas in social media posts after a storm erupted surrounding a video of a Turkish citizen complaining about Syrian refugees being able to afford "kilos of bananas," while he could not afford bananas.
The Istanbul Police Department has taken action against 31 suspects in total in the banana case, arresting 11, according to Turkish media. 11 of the suspects are still on the run. The suspects arrested were charged with the crime of inciting or insulting the public to hatred and hostility.
The case began with a video of a Turkish man in Istanbul complaining that he could not afford to buy bananas, while Syrians could afford "kilograms of bananas," according to Bloomberg magazine. A trend on social media began afterward, with Syrian refugees posting photos and videos of themselves eating bananas intended on mocking the Turkish citizen's complaint.

"The wise methods of October 2021 have revealed the hastiness of October 2019," he added in reference to a US cyber attack on Iran following the drone attack on Saudi oil facilities, which Washington and Riyadh blamed on Tehran.

This is so absurd, it's wrenching. Stomach-turning.

Another day, another Legal Clown Show in the USSA.
In the words of Self-Defense Law expert attorney Andrew Branca:
PROSECUTOR BINGER SAYS ARSON NO BIG DEAL
I did want to highlight the last couple of moments of that last clip, because it is so laughable.
Here we actually see Prosecutor Binger attempt to argue to Judge Schroeder that arson is no big deal, it’s just a bunch of kids being loud and disorderly. Judge Schroeder actually responds to Binger, “I can’t believe some of the things you’re saying.”
After going back and forth on this for a couple of minutes, Judge Schroeder simply dismisses Binger as one might dismiss an ex-spouse—it’s pretty funny.

Looks like all the prosecutor is doing is throwing as much BS out there as he can, hoping the jurors will find some excuse among it to make a political conviction.

Urban and Blue State re-population. Local dem governments, the Pope, the Cartels, Planned Parenthood, and teacher's unions demand it. Blue State migration MUST END !
1st Every Illegal Alien Must:
* declare themselves in 90 days or forfeit Amnesty consideration,
* provide a written report of all who assisted in their illegal entry and or stay,
* register, by Photographed and Finger printed,
* declare where they have been living,
* declare where and who they have worked and for how long at each location and/or employer.
* Written list of ALL family currently illegally in the USA.
ONLY then be issued a 24 month PHOTO ID VISA.
Then over the next 24 months, the Illegal must repay the Federal Taxpayers Unpaid related Federal and State taxes and a fine equal to the 1/2 the unpaid taxes. Collected $$$$ to be used strictly for border patrol enforcement (walls, Holding Cells buildings with Immigrant courts located on site for future illegal attempted entries.)
If found to have ANY serious arrests, criminal, gang member or found guilty of a physically violent crimes prior to or during the 24 month Visa. Then the Illegal will be arrested, denied amnesty and deported.
During the 24 month VISA period, any person 12 and older must learn basic ENGLISH, and take the normal steps toward US Citizenship.
== PART II ==
Now APPLY the same fines and penalties, as applicable, to every business, and anyone that facilitated or allowed the Illegal to be here Illegally.
Include fining or denying Sanctuary Cities Federal Money equal up to 10x's the amounts found that ILLEGALLY harbored persons used in Federal taxpayer supported resources collected.
If an Sanctuary City protected Illegal is or was found to have committed a or Violent Felony crime. Then the Sanctuary City elected officials that supported the Sanctuary City Illegal concept will be charged as co-defendants to those crimes.
It just pisses me off ....another here we go again AMNESTY FOR ILLEGALS
(aka federal law violating criminals)
Just as we are entering a do or die election cycle. Where the Social-Democrats know their A$$ is about to be handed to them. But 7 million "well placed" Amnesty persons granted instant citizen voting rights would be the Social-Democrats political life saver.
Why so pissed?
I am 2nd generation American.
My Grandparents on both sides were indentured Servants/Slaves. They were treated as property, used for tasked labor, and traded between owner family members like playing cards.
Both Grandparents were warned to serve properly, do as told, or their family members still back in Europe would be punished.
Both came here, learned English, held jobs, learn and adopted and blended in with American Culture, recognized and obeyed US Laws. Put non-applicable old country customs aside.

When my dad retired from the US Army (CSM) he took a job with the State of GA. to stay busy and get out of the house.
Because his father was an Indentured Servant, forced to work for only room and board for many years. He qualified as having SLAVE ancestry as defined under GA. Law and was given bonus points for hire and promotions.
It sure ticked off a lot of people who wanted to play the race card for more, while doing less.
Because he knew and lived with his "freed slave" father. Not "heard" about someone a few generations back and claimed to be of former slave ancestry.

The United States is providing nearly $144 million in new humanitarian assistance to the people affected by the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. This brings total U.S. humanitarian aid in Afghanistan and for Afghan refugees in the region to nearly $474 million in 2021, the largest amount of assistance from any nation.
This assistance will flow through independent humanitarian organizations who provide support directly to more than 18.4 million vulnerable Afghans in the region, including Afghan refugees in neighboring countries.

Thus far neither Treasury nor Biden's media lackeys have mentioned which "independent humanitarian organizations" will be receiving funds.
[Times of Israel] Usual Anti-Juice Suspects House measure blasts ’repressive’ decision to label 6 human rights organizations as terror groups, urges Biden and Blinken to publicly censure Israel
A group of progressive Democrats introduced a resolution in the United States House of Representatives on Thursday condemning Israel for its "repressive" and "anti-democratic" decision to blacklist half a dozen Palestinian human rights organizations.
The resolution describes the labeling of the six Palestinian groups as "a repressive act designed to criminalize and persecute important Palestinian human rights organizations."
It is highly unlikely to pass, given the unwillingness of the vast majority of lawmakers from either party to criticize the Israeli government so harshly.
The measure was introduced by Rep. Betty McCollum, one of the most vocal critics of the Israeli government in Congress, but also a proponent of the two-state solution who sometimes votes in favor of pro-Israel bills (McCollum voted in favor of legislation to offer $1 billion in supplemental funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system last month).
Her latest resolution was co-sponsored by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Cori Bush, Chuy Garcia, Marie Newman, Raul Grijalva and Andre Carson. All of them voted against the Iron Dome supplemental funding — except Ocasio-Cortez who chose to abstain on the legislation.
The resolution calls on US President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken to "publicly condemn this authoritarian and antidemocratic act of repression" and publicly call on Israel to cease such measures.
It notes the value of the six Palestinian groups — Union of Palestinian Women’s Committees; ADDAMEER — Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association; Bisan Center for Research and Development; al-Haq Organization; Defense for Children International — Palestine; and the Union Of Agricultural Work Committees — and cites condemnations of the decision by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, 21 Israeli rights organizations and the Israeli left-wing Haaretz daily.
"The United States provides $3.8 billion in military funding to the Israeli Government each fiscal year and therefore holds a unique obligation to speak out against and condemn actions by the Israeli government that intentionally undermine democratic values and internationally recognized human rights," the resolution states.
The Biden administration said last week that is seeking clarification from Israel over the decision. Jerusalem says it is due to the Palestinian rights groups’ ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terror group. However, it has yet to publicly provide any concrete evidence to substantiate the claim.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government dispatched an envoy from the Foreign Ministry and Shin Bet security service to Washington this week to provide the US with what it asserts is "ironclad" proof tying the organizations to the PFLP.

According to data transmitted by RIA Novosti by its own source of information in the circles of the Syrian opposition, the Turkish armed forces are preparing for the simultaneous conduct of two military operations in Syria. The attacks are planned to be launched in the northwest of Idlib, in order to support the pro-Turkish armed illegal formations operating there, and in the northeast of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) against the "Syrian Democratic Forces."
According to the interlocutor of the agency, preparing for the offensive, Turkish army units are on full alert and distributed in several directions.
In particular, we are talking not only about the province of Iblib, but also a number of settlements in the vicinity of the cities of Mari and Azaz, located in the north of Aleppo, near the Minig military airport in the area of the city of Manbij, as well as in the area of the city of Al-Qamishli and the province of Al-Hasake.
Recall that earlier Turkish leader Recep Erdogan did not rule out a new military campaign, citing the increased number of attacks on the Turkish army by the Kurds. At the same time, the Turkish parliament fully approved Erdogan's proposal and extended the ongoing military operation in Syria and Iraq for a period of two years.
According to the interlocutor of RIA Novosti, Turkey's military operation in Syria may begin after the meeting between Erdogan and Biden.
Earlier it was reported that the Su-34 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces hit the border area with Turkey in northern Syria.
[CNBC] Facebook on Thursday announced that it has changed its company name to Meta.
The name change, which was announced at the Facebook Connect augmented and virtual reality conference, reflects the company’s growing ambitions beyond social media.
The re-branding also comes after the company has dealt with a barrage of news reports over the past month stemming from whistleblower Frances Haugen’s trove of internal documents.

"What is the definition of meta in gaming?
In the world of gaming, meta is used in two ways. Meta can be used as an acronym for “most effective tactics available,” and calling something “meta” means that it’s an effective way to achieve the goal of the game, whether it’s to beat other players or beat the game itself.

LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, speaking in the State Duma at the discussion of the budget, called for depriving the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, "Fair Russia - For Truth" and "New People" the status of parliamentary parties and expel them from the parliament building for their position on the country's budget.
The Communist Party of the Russian Federation and A Just Russia - For the Truth immediately expressed their position that their representatives would not vote for the financial document. The leader of the New People faction, Alexei Nechaev, said that the party is worried about the budget.
"We must fight poverty, and you have billionaires in two factions (the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the SRHP, who opposed the budget). What do you consider other people's money (budget)? Count your money," Fair Russia," said Zhirinovsky.
“They should vote as United Russia, (leader of A Just Russia Sergei) Mironov and (United Russia representative Boris) Gryzlov - shook hands. That's all! Therefore, they should not twist. A Just Russia is the younger sister of United Russia. If they are for (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, then here he is, his minister (of finance, who presented the budget, Anton) Siluanov, and you must vote for the budget! " continued the leader of the Liberal Democrats.
After that, he accused the representatives of "Fair Russia - For the Truth" of supporting the president, while speaking out against the government.
"You (SRHL) advocate for the budget or leave the State Duma building. You get your salary from the budget, apartments - from the budget, summer cottages - from the budget. And for the maintenance of your party (Communist Party) you will receive 1.5 billion, Gennady Andreevich. Your budget: Give up all the money. And you too, "Fair Russia." They receive everything from the state, but try to stir it up. Don't need a budget? Then get out of Russia and "New people," said Zhirinovsky.
[An Nahar] State Commissioner to the Military Court, Judge Fadi Akiki, referred Thursday the Tayyouneh file to the first military investigative judge Fadi Sawwan, media reports said.
Akiki asked Sawwan to hear Lebanese Forces A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb... leader Samir Geagea ...Geagea was imprisoned by the Syrians and their puppets for 11 years in a dungeon in the third basement level of the Lebanese Ministry of Defense. He was released after the Cedar Revolution in 2005... as a witness.
Geagea failed to show up Wednesday before Akiki over his alleged role in the Tayyouneh festivities. He had warned last week he would ignore the summons if his bitter rival, Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... leader Sayyed His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb... , was not called in for questioning too.
The lawyers of the Tayyouneh detainees had submitted a request to recuse Akiki but the latter refused to register the request.
The lawyers then requested the judge’s recusal before the Court of Appeals.
On Thursday, the Civil Court of Appeals in Beirut accepted the recusal request to remove Akiki from the case, according to LBCI television.
Seven people were killed in street fighting two weeks ago, following a rally organized by Hizbullah and its ally Amal Movement against the judge Tarek Bitar investigating last year's deadly blast at Beirut port.
Hizbullah and Amal accused the LF of firing the first shots in the October 14 violence. Geagea denied any involvement and claimed that his summons had no legal grounding.
[FOXNEWS] The president of a Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, school district was caught cursing on a hot mic during a school board meeting Tuesday, after a parent gave a speech knocking masks in classrooms and COVID-19 vaccination mandates for students.
Lauren Roupoli, who called herself a concerned parent, addressed the Los Alamitos Unified School District Board of Education and spoke about the problems she perceives are involved with enforcing a mask mandate in children.
Her belief is that any possible benefit is far outweighed by the risks.
In her fiery ...a single two-syllable word carrying connotations of both incoherence and viciousness. A fiery delivery implies an audience of rubes and yokels, preferably forming up into a mob... speech, she accused one board member of criticizing parents for voicing their legitimate concerns. She drew applause when she said, "We are vocal because we are our children’s biggest advocates."
Her comment apparently did not sit well with Marlys Davidson, the board’s president, who was picked up on a hot mic saying, "F--- you," during the applause.
KTLA reported that Davidson issued an apology and said the public must be "heard with respect."
"I reaffirm my commitment to serve our community with dignity and integrity, and I hope they will accept my sincere apology," she said. She did not immediately respond to an after-hours email from Fox News.
Roupoli told the station that Davidson should step down.
California has a statewide mask requirement that affects about 6.7 million students. The requirement is backed by the state’s largest teachers' unions and the California Association of School Boards.
The argument from parents opposed to vaccines for children is that they see the long-term side effects as unknowns. They also say these mandates infringe upon their freedoms.

[DW] Notwithstanding the risks of embarking on a journey fraught with dangers and even death, scores of migrants colonists are choosing to put their destinies in the hands of local smugglers in Iraq to get into the EU via Belarus.
To put it into perspective: Since the beginning of October, there have been 11,300 attempts to illegally enter Polish territory from Belarus. So far this year, around 23,000 such attempts have been registered. From there, many make their way to the German border. Three German states border Poland: Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxony. Border police say there have been around 6,000 illegal crossings so far this year.
[NYPOST] A former top executive at a North Carolina-based health care system has won $10 million in a legal battle over his claim that he lost his job because he is a white man.
David Duvall, a former senior vice president of marketing and communication at Novant Health, was awarded the money by a federal jury in Charlotte on Tuesday.
In his lawsuit, Duvall had alleged that he was pushed out of his job without warning or explanation in July 2018 as the company tried to diversify top leadership positions.
"We are pleased that the jury agreed that Duvall’s race and gender were unlawful factors in his termination — that he was fired to make room for more diverse leaders at Novant," his attorney, S. Luke Largess, said in a statement to the Winston-Salem Journal.
"Duvall was a strong advocate of diversity at Novant. We believe the punitive damages award is a message that an employer cannot terminate and replace employees in order to achieve greater diversity in the workforce," he added.
A rep for Novant Health said the company was disappointed by Tueday’s verdict.
"We are extremely disappointed with the verdict as we believe it is not supported by the evidence presented at trial, which includes our reason for Mr. Duvall’s termination," spokeswoman, Megan Rivers, told the newspaper. "We will pursue all legal options, including appeal, over the next several weeks and months."

[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the Head of the Libyan Administrative Control Authority (ACA) issued a decision to suspend the Minister of Education, Musa al-Mgaryaf, and the Minister of Marine Wealth, Adel Mohammed Hassan. The authority stated that the decision was taken "for reasons within the requirements of the public interest." The ACA called on the competent authorities to implement the decision from the date of its issuance.
The Libyan authorities have recently opened investigations into forged academic degrees that have increased over the past years. This is a result of the general state of lawlessness and chaos in the country.
Attorney General, al-Siddiq al-Sour requested a detailed report on the number of forged degrees, a list of individuals found to be using them, and the educational institutions that were not granted education licenses.
The Public Prosecutor also called for clarifications on the violation of some elements of the security authorities with the regulations governing study and examinations. This is in order to begin investigation procedures against the perpetrators.
Last week, Libyan Administrative Control Authority has issued its report on the performance of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) for the year 2020. The report monitored a number of violations, most of which were related to abuse of positions, in addition to a financial shortfall in sales expenses.
According to the report, the financial deficit in foreign sales amounted to $4,540,197 dollars. It also indicated that the exchange rate reached 106%, with an increase of more than 80 million Libyan dinars, while the actual exchange rate for some items was found to be at 0%.

[An Nahar] Algeria will from now on deliver its natural gas to Spain exclusively through an undersea pipeline, ministers from both countries have reportedly said, after Algiers abandoned use of a line through Morocco. In August Algeria cut diplomatic ties with its Maghreb neighbor Morocco which it accused of "hostile actions."
Algeria, Africa's biggest natural gas exporter, had been using the Gaz-Maghreb-Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... (GME) pipeline since 1996 to deliver several billion cubic meters (bcm) per year to Spain and Portugal.
But the GME contract is due to expire at the end of October, and Algiers decided not to renew it because of the diplomatic tensions with Rabat.
Experts had said the alternative undersea line, known as Medgaz, does not have the capacity to make up the shortfall. They earlier feared that supplies could be cut, just as energy prices soar in Europe ahead of winter.
Medgaz is already operating near its full capacity of eight bcm per year -- around half total Algerian gas exports to Spain.
Algeria's Minister of Energy and Mines Mohammed Arkab, speaking after talks with Spain's Minister for Ecological Transition Teresa Ribera, said his country, through state energy firm Sonatrach, "will honor its commitments to Spain", according to the official APS news agency.
"The Spanish partners were reassured that Algeria will provide all the supply expected. We equally commit ourselves to making all deliveries through Algerian installations, via the Medgaz pipeline and gas conversion complexes," Arkab said.
He spoke of extending capacity of the Medgaz line and an expansion of liquefied natural gas exports by sea.

Semiconductor giant’s new offerings include ’world’s best gaming processor’; over 1,000 Israeli engineers worked on ’largest-ever’ chip hardware development project
Intel on Wednesday officially launched its 12th-generation Intel Core processors, code-named Alder Lake, designed chiefly in Israel and based on a hybrid architecture for PC users.
Intel called the new lineup among the "most significant architectural innovations in a generation" when The Times of Israel previewed the processors two months ago.
Alder Lake is Intel’s most intelligent client system-on-chip (SoC) architecture, according to the announcement, featuring a combination of Efficient-cores and Performance-cores for faster, better-performing PCs. Alder Lake mobile chips are also in the works. It includes "the world’s best gaming processor," the Core i9 12900K, which Intel said was "the most powerful gaming performance improvement Intel has ever achieved."
"We are super proud to share this product with the world. It is a huge development and the first client product that really takes two very complex cores and combines them into the product known as Alder Lake," Guy Shalev, the design manager of Alder Lake desktop processor, told The Times of Israel in August.
Raja M. Koduri, chief architect and senior VP of Intel’s architecture, graphics and software division, provided a deft analogy between the design of Alder Lake and that of hybrid cars during an internal presentation.
"The fastest racing cars in the world like in Formula One use hybrid technology to achieve maximum performance. In addition to the conventional turbocharged engines that give them top speed and enough range to make it to the finish line on a tank of fuel, they add electric power to blast them out of the corners with acceleration that cannot be achieved with conventional engines," he said.
Alder Lake is a high-performance hybrid processor based on two cores that activate depending on which applications are running, he explained, adding that it will "delight billions of PC users."

The new CPUs are built on a 10nm lithography process. Intel is well behind until they can move to a 5nm process. AMD builds their CPUs and graphics chips on a 7nm process and their new Zen4 CPUs should arrive early 2022 will be on a 5nm process. Plus the AMD chiplet tech allows a higher yield than the larger Intel chips, further cutting costs.

[BIZPACREVIEW] The Mankato, Minnesota school board is outrageously requiring parents to doxx themselves by stating their home address before they can speak at a meeting and they have, in essence, banned all criticism of school board officials as well. The chair of the board for Mankato Area Public Schools Jodi Sapp made the new rules crystal clear before calling on parents at an Oct. 18 forum. Parents were told they could speak for three minutes only if they gave their name and full address. They were also advised that they were prohibited from addressing individual school board members.
"I just want to remind everybody this is a business meeting of the school board, it is not a meeting that belongs to the public," she began.
"Before the open forum, I would like to review a couple of things," Sapp stated. "Each speaker is asked to state his or her name and address for the record. Failure to do so will result in an individual not being allowed to speak."
Alpha News first reported the new rules which were put in place following "behavior by some of the members of the public" that Sapp deemed "unacceptable."
"Effective tonight, open forum participants are prohibited from calling out or addressing any individual school board or school district staff member. If this occurs, open forum will be closed," Sapp noted before the public forum segment began.

What happens when a "small town democracy" becomes a bureaucracy so corrupt that there is no mutual trust?
The requirement that a citizen addressing the meeting, which has a schedule and limited time for speakers, be a citizen of that area seems just and prudent. Would you like a bus load of 'activists' to indulge in a "out-of-towner filibuster" at your meeting? It was different when everybody knew everybody and strangers were shown the door.
But in the current climate the school boards seems to be composed of transplanted "out-of-towner activists' and trust is dead... Sad, truly sad.
Tajik authorities have announced that China will build a base in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). The facility, built against the backdrop of the seizure of the Taliban of the authorities in Afghanistan, will belong to a special rapid reaction unit of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan. According to the press service of the Tajik Interior Ministry.
"According to the agreement reached, the base of the Special Rapid Response Unit of the Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan in the Vakhan gorge will be built at the expense of funds allocated on a gratuitous basis. The PRC assumes the obligation to provide the equipment, equipment and materials necessary for the implementation of the project, Tajikistan undertakes to exempt the import of equipment into the country from taxes and duties," said the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan Abdurahmon Alamshozoda.
The creation of the base will take place within the framework of an agreement between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Security of China.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to construct 12 buildings, including an administrative building, a dormitory, a canteen, premises for the residence of Tajik security officials and their families, a water reservoir and two observation towers.
The total area of the complex will be 3550 sq. meters. At the same time, the presence of the Chinese military at the base is not provided. Currently, the process of preparing documentation for the allocation of a land plot for the construction of the base is underway.
Earlier it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will send improved T-72B3 tanks to Tajikistan.
[NYPOST] A flight from New York City to Southern Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, made an emergency landing after a passenger attacked a flight attendant Wednesday evening.
American Airlines Flight 976 from Kennedy Airport to John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana was diverted to Denver following the altercation, the airline said.
The plane landed safely and the suspect was arrested.
"The individual involved in this incident will never be allowed to travel with American Airlines in the future, but we will not be satisfied until he has been prosecuted to the full extent of the law," a statement provided to The Post read.
"Our thoughts are with our injured flight attendant and ensuring that she and her fellow crew members have the support they need at this time."
The flight took off from Queens just before 5 p.m. and landed in Colorado at 6:43 p.m. local time, according to Flightview, a tracking website.
Airlines have experienced a surge in violent mostly peaceful incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic, with thousands reported to the FAA.

Four servicemen were injured due to careless handling of ammunition, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported.
The incident took place today at about 1000hrs (0900 hrs Moscow time) at one of the combat posts in the eastern direction, a representative of the department told the " Caucasian Knot " correspondent.
"All the wounded received first aid. An investigation is underway to clarify the circumstances of the incident," the Defense Ministry's press service noted. All victims received minor injuries.
Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has repeatedly reported on the injury and death of Armenian soldiers during armed incidents on the border with Azerbaijan. So, on October 9, soldier Misak Khachatryan was wounded. The Armenian Defense Ministry insists that they fired from the Azerbaijani side, but the Azerbaijani military department denied any involvement in the incident. Azerbaijan
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported on the delivery to their homeland of 38 children who were in correctional institutions and orphanages in Iraq. We are talking about the children of Azerbaijanis who went to fight on the side of the militants in the Middle East, suggested journalist Tofig Turkel.
The Azerbaijani authorities brought home 38 children from Iraq who were in correctional institutions and orphanages in this country, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said today.
The children were delivered to their homeland today, it follows from the press release of the department sent to the "Caucasian Knot." Then they were provided with documents for returning to Azerbaijan and air tickets," it was reported.
To deliver the children to their homeland in Baghdad, members of the working group were sent from among the representatives of state structures responsible for the return of Azerbaijani citizens from Iraq and Syria and their rehabilitation. The members of the working group conducted a preliminary medical and psychological examination of the children, they were provided with the necessary assistance, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
A total of 38 children, accompanied by representatives of government agencies, were repatriated to Azerbaijan on the Baghdad-Istanbul-Baku flight. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry recalled that a total of 288 Azerbaijani citizens were repatriated from Iraq, 286 children and two women. At the same time, the ministry's message does not indicate how the children from Azerbaijan ended up in the Middle East.
We are talking about children and women from families of residents of Azerbaijan, who at one time went to Iraq and Syria to participate in hostilities as part of various terrorist groups, said Tofig Turkel, a Turan agency observer for the Middle East.
"Some of them went with their families, taking their wives and children. Some of the children were already born there," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
After the death, arrest or escape of the militants, women and children of foreign citizens, including Azerbaijanis, foreign citizens, were placed in special camps and shelters in Iraq, Syria, liberated from terrorist groups, as well as in countries bordering with them.
It takes some time to identify these people, to provide them with documents, and they are gradually returned to Azerbaijan. Children without parents are usually given to close relatives - on the paternal or maternal side. If there are none, then they go to orphanages, explained Turkel.
The " Caucasian Knot " also wrote that on October 9, an Ankara-Baku flight brought four children to Azerbaijan, who were in an orphanage in the city of Iskenderun.

A group of 12 countries on Thursday collectively urged Israel to scrap plans for the construction of more than 3,000 settler homes in the West Bank. The United Kingdom separately issued a similar statement urging Israel to reverse plans for fresh settlement construction.
A day after the US criticized the plan, France, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden said in a joint statement that Israel should cancel its decision to build in the settlements.
"We urge the Government of Israel to reverse its decision to advance plans for the construction of around 3,000 settlement units in the West Bank," the foreign ministries of the 12 said.
"We reiterate our strong opposition to its policy of settlement expansion across the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which violates international law and undermines efforts for the two-state solution," they said.
In its own statement, the UK said settlements "are illegal under international law and present an obstacle to peace and stability." It urged Jerusalem to reverse its decision.
Israel on Wednesday made fresh moves towards building the settler homes in the West Bank, a move also condemned by the Palestinians.
The Civil Administration’s high planning committee gave final approval to 1,800 homes and initial endorsement for another 1,344, according to a spokesman for the military body that oversees civilian matters in the Palestinian territories.

[NYPOST] The FDNY is preparing to shutter as many as 20 percent of all Big Apple fire companies — and take an equal portion of its ambulances off the streets — ahead of the impending deadline for all city workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
On Wednesday, the FDNY said just 65 percent of its firefighters, fire officers and EMS workers had been vaccinated despite Mayor Comrade Bill de Blasio ...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly. New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him... ’s order that all city workers receive at least one dose or face suspension without pay on Monday.
"The Department must manage the unfortunate fact that a portion of our workforce has refused to comply with a vaccine mandate for all city employees," Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said in a statement later Wednesday.
"We will use all means at our disposal, including mandatory overtime, mutual aid from other EMS providers and significant changes to the schedules of our members," Nigro continued. "We will ensure the continuity of operations and safety of all those we have sworn oaths to serve."
The commissioner didn’t assess the likely result of the potential moves, but one FDNY firefighter offered a grim prediction: "People will die in this city."

[NATIONALREVIEW] Akash Mehta of the New York Focus reported on Thursday afternoon that Andrew Sonny Cuomo ...former Dem dynastic governor of Noo Yawk, the son and heir of the late Mario Cuoma and formerly married to a Kennedy. Acclaimed for his leadership during the COVID epidemic, he managed the nation's highest corpse count while successfully hiding the returns and writing a book praising himself. Among the nation's horniest politicians, he had about a dozen allegations of sexual harrassment and groping against him when he resigned... , the former governor of New York, had been charged with forcible touching, with NBC News and the New York Post later confirming the same.Mehta claimed to have been told as much by a clerk with the Albany Criminal Court. Reached for comment, another clerk for court declined to confirm the same, telling National Review to "call back tomorrow" for confirmation. Mehta also noted that "a secretary at the Albany County Sheriff’s office said he was unaware of filed charges but that he had not spoken to the criminal justice investigation’s team."
The Albany Times Union’s Brendan Lyons is asserting that the charges were filed erroneously, explaining that a "summons was issued without the consent of the alleged victim, Brittany Commisso, or her attorney, Brian D. Premo."
According to Lyons, a sheriff’s investigator "met with a City Court official on Thursday to receive ’guidance’ if the department were to file a complaint. It’s unclear what happened after that, but a person briefed on the matter and not authorized to comment publicly said that someone in City Court issued the summons."
However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... both Tom Winter of NBC News and Bernadette Hogan, the New York Post’s Albany Bureau chief, are reporting that Cuomo has indeed been charged, with Hogan citing a named front man, Lucian Chalfen.

"No one will ever say that my government was one where there was a toxic workplace environment” Andrew Cuomo

She said, he said. Sorry. I have no sympathy for Cuomo but I don't think the plaintiff here has a very strong case. Too bad the nursing home scandal will never be fully investigated.

the new infections of about 2.5k/day are troubling but the fatality rate is only about 10 per day which in a population of about 5M (with a substantial number of seniors) isn't great but not too scary either
also I don't know if Ireland aggressively classifies covid as cause of death or not

^Here DX is Covid for every death. Cornier at local hospital directed Nurse to type Covid as cause of death and the nurse refused. Clearly congestive heart failure. He pushed her aside and entered his DX. Nurse decided to take retirement to get out of the Hospital billing racket.
I love The Big Guy's upcoming Potemkin summit "for democracy" and against "illicit finance":
On December 9-10, Biden will convene a Leaders’ Summit for Democracy in Washington, where human rights, illicit finance and regulation will be discussed. All three issues are closely interconnected and are clearly prioritized by Biden’s administration, which promises to connect the dots and use all of its weight to protect democracy.
Inquiring minds want to know: Will the guests have a chance to view and purchase Hunter's paintings?
Will Hunter and Tony Bobulinski host a panel discussion on "Partnering With CCP Front Companies for Fun and Profit"?
Will Patrick Ho be released from prison so he can present on Money Laundering Best Practices?

The article assumes that actual actions and consequences will come out of the meeting. Given the administration's performance to date, I'm betting on just a lot of words followed by nothing.

Didn't think this was The Jerusalem Post; more like the Babylon Bee.
Description: " A dazzling theatrical event created by Obie Award-winning artist Whitney White and performed by White and an ensemble with a live band,Macbeth In Stride examines what it means to be an ambitious Black woman through the lens of one of Shakespeare's most iconic characters...."
[An Nahar] The U.S. Treasury on Thursday slapped sanctions on prominent Lebanese tycoons Jihad al-Arab and Dany Khoury and politicianJamil al-Sayyed ... who is owned by the government of Syria, but presently rented out to Hezbollah... for allegedly benefitting from corruption and adding to the breakdown of the rule of law in the country. The three "have each personally profited from the pervasive corruption and cronyism in Leb ...In 2006 unknown persons blew up Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, the car he was traveling in, the road he was traveling on, and a few innocent bystanders of no account whatsoever. The person or persons unknow weren't Hezbollah, you can bet on that. Really. Even though there was an international tribunal that said it was them... , enriching themselves at the expense of the Lebanese people and state institutions," the U.S. Treasury said.
"While the Lebanese people face daily struggles to access basic public goods, including medicine, electricity, and food, during a historic and devastating economic crisis, members of the Lebanese political class and their cronies operate with impunity to enrich themselves and hide their wealth," the Treasury said in a statement.
The Treasury said al-Arab has used close political connections and kickback payments to win important public contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars in which he overbilled the government and, in an emergency deal to address Beirut's 2016 garbage crisis, did not resolve the problem.
The Treasury also said he won two government contracts worth $200 million after brokering a political deal in 2014 ahead of elections.
Khoury, it said, used his ties to already-sanctioned Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... chief Jebran Bassil to reap lucrative contracts "while failing to meaningfully fulfill the terms of those contracts."
"Khoury and his company have been accused of dumping toxic waste and refuse into the Mediterranean Sea, poisoning fisheries, and polluting Lebanon’s beaches, all while failing to remedy the garbage crisis," it said.
Sayyed, meanwhile, was accused of skirting banking regulations to move $120 million offshore.

During the 2019 protests, when demonstrators protested outside his home demanding his resignation and calling him corrupt, Sayyed called on officials to shoot and kill the protesters," the Treasury said.

The 33-year-old man, an electrical engineer named Dylan, was able to pay off some of his student loans, get married, and purchase a home, thanks to the money he saved eating at Six Flags, according to Mel Magazine.
A man making $150,000 (or more, it's California) is driving twice a day to get free meals. He'd be better off using that time ($75/hour or more) to brown bag it and be more productive to get raises and bonuses.

Should have became a Honduran and taken the bus to the US boarder and crossed.
According to top climate grifters scientists, the period from 1950 to 1980 is the perfect climate.
Given that recently we have been through about 7 cycles of 100,000 years of ice age followed by 15,000 years of warm, it is not obvious how they came to that conclusion. But rest assured, they are all Top Men.
The state prosecutor asked for the testimony of several prosecution witnesses to be read in court in the case of the journalist of the Chernovik newspaper Abdulmumin Hajiyev, accused of financing terrorism, referring to the fact that they are outside Dagestan. The court asked the prosecutor to provide certificates of witnesses crossing the border.
As "Caucasian Knot" wrote, the journalist of the Dagestan newspaper "Chernovik" Abdulmumin Hajiyev, as well as the head of the charitable foundation "Ansar" Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev were detained in connection with the financing of terrorism.
The court in Rostov-on-Don extended the arrest of Gadzhiev until January 28, 2022. On October 14, the former imam of the Makhachkala mosque, Magomedrasul Saaduev, presented by the prosecution as a witness, stated in court that he knew nothing about Hajiyev's radical views. The refusal of a number of witnesses from their testimonies, which are included in the case by the investigation, can help the accused, the lawyer said.
According to investigators, the journalist of the Dagestani newspaper Abdulmumin Hajiyev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev collected 68 million rubles and $200,000 for the terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims.
The investigation connects them with a Dagestani preacher and founder of the Islamic foundation "Mukhadzhirun," known as Abu Umar Sasitlinsky, who is wanted in a terrorism case. All three are in custody in the Rostov-on-Don pre-trial detention center. Hajiyev insists on his innocence, and his colleagues consider the criminal case to be a way of putting pressure on the journalist.
On October 28, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don continued the consideration of the case of Gadzhiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev. There were no relatives or anyone from the defendants' support group at the meeting, the only visitors were two media representatives, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported.
It was planned that at least one of the classified witnesses would be questioned at the meeting via video link with the garrison military court in Makhachkala, but he could not arrive on time, as according to the state prosecutor Murad Aliyev, due washed out roads near his residence.
In connection with the absence of the witness, Aliyev asked to read out the testimony of the remaining witnesses for the prosecution. According to him, witnesses Aida Khaita and Anna Papushina "are in prison in the Far North," witnesses Huseyn Dingaev and Askhab Dzharbayev are in Turkey, a number of witnesses, including the imam of the Central Mosque of Kislovodsk Aslan Shamanov, imam of the Khasavyurt Central Mosque Ilyas Umalatov, previously convicted Shamil Kadyrov and three other people "are now outside the republic."
Therefore, the prosecutor's office cannot establish their whereabouts.
The defendants opposed the reading out of their testimonies.
"This is unfair: the investigators questioned these people, but we cannot ask them our questions? If these testimonies are insignificant, then let the prosecutor's office refuse them," Abubakar Rizvanov said.
He pointed out that witness Kadyrov was sentenced to eight years, so he cannot "be outside the republic."
On June 26, 2019, the North Caucasian (now Southern) military court found Shamil Kadyrov, a resident of Dagestan, guilty of complicity in the financing of terrorism and sentenced him to eight years in prison.
According to the prosecution, he transferred over 800,000 rubles to members of the Islamic State terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court. He did not admit his guilt. In November 2019, the Russian Supreme Court upheld the sentence to Shamil Kadyrov.
The rest of the defendants, as well as their lawyers, spoke out against the announcement of their testimonies. As a result, the panel of judges refused the prosecutor's application, asking him to provide certificates of witnesses crossing the Russian border.
The presiding judge also reminded the prosecutor that on October 28, it was exactly one year since the case came to court, and that "questions may arise" to the prosecution.
The next court session is scheduled for 1000hrs Moscow time on December 2. Several witnesses are expected to be questioned on this day.
The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that single pickets are regularly held in Makhachkala in support of the "Chernovik" journalist Abdulmumin Hajiyev. His colleagues consider cases of pressure on the media and criminal prosecution of journalists to be an all-Russian trend.
On October 18, four single pickets demanding the release of Hajiyev, political prisoners and in support of freedom of the press, which were held in Makhachkala by the journalist's colleagues, attracted the attention of passers-by and the police.
The security forces demanded an explanation from the picketers . Expressing one's opinion through a single picket does not contradict the current legislation, said the founder of "Chernovik" Magdi Kamalov.
