Transcript Reveals Trump, Ukrainian President Argued For Fifteen Minutes About Who Would Hang Up First
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐The recently released transcript of Trump and the Ukrainian president contained many juicy tidbits for pundits to argue over. But perhaps the most interesting part was the conclusion of the phone call. After exchanging pleasantries, Trump and President Volodymyr Zelensky playfully argued for about 15 minutes as to who would hang up first.

"Alright, talk to you soon!" Trump said to conclude the phone call.

"OK, bye," Zelensky said.

There was silence on both ends of the line.

"You hang up first," Trump said.

"No, you," replied Zelensky.

This playful cold war went on for a few minutes.

Finally, the pair agreed to hang up at the same time. "Alright, we'll hang up on three," Trump said. "One, two, three." He waited.

"You didn't hang up, did you?" Zelensky said.

"Nope!" cried Trump before bursting into laughter. "You rascal!"

At long last the call ended when Trump threatened to withhold military aid unless Zelenskey hung up first.

China-Japan-Koreas
Trade war or not, Trump is wise to end Chinese investment
[Washington Examiner] In the latest escalation in the trade wars, the U.S. is contemplating deploying a focused, strategic maneuver that is distinctly asymmetrical in its impact. It’s been essentially all tariffs so far (the issues with Huawei aren’t really trade related), and the move under consideration to block U.S. investment in China, including potentially delisting Chinese companies from American exchanges, would be a major tactical and ideological blow to the anachronistic, mercantilist-esque Chinese economic model.

The thing is, with or without a trade war, this should have happened a long time ago.

U.S.-listed shares of Alibaba and Baidu (the Amazon and Google of China), among others, plunged on the news, and the Yuan weakened to 7.15 against the U.S. dollar. Chinese companies aren’t a trivial amount of American stock exchanges, amounting to about $1.2 trillion of their $43 trillion market capitalization. This reckoning has been a long time coming for a country that refuses to be transparent and reciprocal ‐ its companies unsurprisingly don’t fall far from the tree.

SEC investigations and claims of fraud directed at Chinese companies have been going on for decades. From reverse-merger scams to cooking two sets of books, Chinese companies are notoriously opaque and misleading with their accounting practices. Even well-known behemoths like Alibaba are questioned for accounting methods that obfuscate critical pieces of information from American investors. Jim Chanos of Kynikos Associates casts doubt on the authenticity of the cashflows of this $430 billion company: "What the company is really earning we don’t know. ... My experience with Chinese companies is that what you don’t know is generally not good news."

The impact of this deceit transcends that of just retail and hedge fund investors. Even major U.S. companies have fallen prey to Chinese accounting malpractice. Back in 2012, Caterpillar’s acquisition of ERA Mining Machinery and its subsidiary Siwei, then China’s fourth largest maker of hydraulic roof supports, required a $580 million writedown after unearthing accounting inconsistencies and discovering it essentially lied about its inventory.

Beijing’s repeated, contemptible refusal to enforce competent accounting standards and permit overseas regulators to examine the audit work of domestic firms must be addressed head on with blunt-force tools. Policy wonks like Larry Summers or Yale’s Stephen Roach decry the move and the trade war broadly, giving us simplistic platitudes about "open access to each other's markets" or providing middle-school-tier economics lessons that view tariffs in a painfully naive vacuum. In doing so, they continue to be emblematic of precisely why Beijing has been able to get away with this and so much protectionist hostility for so long. Academically attractive and ever so superficially agreeable, this approach has been demonstrably effete and supine in its effect against an opponent that flat-out dares you to do anything about it.

Steve Bannon: Hillary Clinton 'is running' again and 'trying to decide how to fit her way in'
[Washington Examiner] Steve Bannon said Hillary Clinton will run for president in 2020.

Bannon, who was the chief executive of President Trump's campaign in the final stretch of the 2016 election, said the Democrats fear they have poor candidates this cycle and, with the House impeachment inquiry underway, are attempting to "nullify the election."

"They think they have a weak field and they're ‐ it's like in chess ‐ they're prepared to sacrifice a rook to take down a king. They will throw [Joe] Biden away to get to Trump and hope Elizabeth [Warren] or I even think Hillary Clinton or [Michael] Bloomberg or some centrist comes in here," Bannon said Monday on Fox Business.

Bannon, who also served as White House chief strategist, said Clinton is "doing a whole thing" this week, going on a tour with her daughter Chelsea to promote their new book Gutsy Women and calling Trump an "illegitimate president."

"She is running. She's just trying to decide how to fit her way in," Bannon said.

Trump's real Ukraine reasons
[American Thinker] Today’s Ukraine news, with all its wild characters, crooks, and conspiracies -- just to narrow it down to the Democrats -- is reminiscent to me of the 1957 Apalachin meeting, the secret, grand conference of the American mafia, which the local police raided and exposed, all to the great discomfiture of the country’s establishment .

Despite furious resistance from their media allies, our new mafia, the Deep State is being exposed as well, thanks to the ongoing mess in the Ukraine. Recall, it was mostly with the help of the Obama State Department and various Soros-backed NGOs that the old Putin-aligned leader in Kiev was kicked out in 2014 and the subsequent regime was pretty much put at the beck and call of D.C. Democrats; getting Hunter Biden his dough, or helping out Fusion GPS, etc. They even had a scheme for international lefties to take over Eastern Orthodox churches, starting with the one in Ukraine.

Our old ambassador, Marie Yovanovich, was very much part of this Obama/Soros axis that’s -- why the new Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky so bluntly told President Trump, "Her attitude towards me was far from the best as she admired the previous President and she was on his side. She would not accept me as a new President well enough."

The reason our Deep State and its allies do not like Zelensky and backed the corruption-plagued Poroshenko is that they know Zelensky, while no Russian stooge, wants to make peace with Putin. Since his election, the shooting has abated in the Donbass, and it was reported just recently, the two sides may be close to a real peace settlement. This is something Trump has long encouraged, but is what the Deep State hates, because it would lead to most of the current sanctions on Russia being lifted.

...This is too much for Official Washington, the Deep State, and all its media allies. They want to bravely fight the Donbass War to the last dead Ukrainian, or Donald Trump’s impeachment, whichever gets the best ratings.

Politics is the art of the possible. If you can't "Win A War" then the next best thing is to get out of one as gracefully as possible. Bleeding for another ten years or so because other parties want the Ukraine to bleed Putin's neo-imperialist Russia is not a winning move for Ukraine.

#2  I asked the question here some time ago after Russia and Ukraine had already been fighting for some years with no side appearing to achieve any advantage from it: Why don't they just stop it?

Is the writer here telling us that they didn't stop it because Obama wanted them to keep fighting?

Except for Iran, I really don't understand our enmity with Russia. Putin is not a nice guy but at least he's not Xi Jinping. Oh, that's right. He's not as rich as Xi.

#5  There is every reason to try to make Russia a partner that helps us against China and that lightens our load in the ME and the war against the islamists.

We have zero national interest in Ukraine. Make them neutral a la Finland or Austria during the Cold War. Soft partition the country, give autonomy to the East, let each side's oligarchs and thieves continue to muddle and wallow and maybe move a little bit sideways. But there is no reason for us to continue to provoke Russia there, or for Russia not to tolerate an independent, and completely nonaligned, government in the western part of the country. Bring this to a conclusion and move on to more important issues.

Hunter Biden tied to China firm with questionable dealings
[Washington Examiner] A high-ranking Chinese businessman was charged by the Justice Department with global corruption and bribery in 2017, and the first call he made after his arrest was to Vice President Joe Biden’s brother, James Biden, who thinks the call was meant for Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

Patrick Ho, the lieutenant to the founder of the multibillion-dollar Chinese conglomerate CEFC China Energy, was indicted under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in the Southern District of New York for his role in a global money laundering and bribery scheme aimed at government officials in Africa. The Justice Department also accused Ho of helping with Iranian sanctions evasion and working to use the Chinese company’s connections to sell weaponry to Chad, Libya, and Qatar.

Ho immediately tried reaching out to the younger Biden for help because that summer, as investigators circled, Hunter agreed to represent Ho as part of Hunter’s efforts to work out a liquified natural gas deal worth tens of millions of dollars with CEFC China Energy’s leader Ye Jianming.

The vice president’s financier brother said he was surprised by the call from Ho, but told the Chinese businessman how to get in touch with his nephew.

"There is nothing else I have to say," James Biden told the New York Times in 2018. "I don’t want to be dragged into this anymore."

The lucrative deal Biden set up with CEFC China Energy fell apart when Ye Jianming disappeared after being detained by Chinese authorities in 2018, and Ho was sentenced to three years in federal prison in March.

Britain
UK's Johnson denies allegations of patronage, groping
MANCHESTER, England (AP) ‐ U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson battled to fend off allegations of improper patronage and groping a woman as he prepared a final push Monday to fulfill his pledge to lead his country out of the European Union in just over a month ‐ and, he hopes, move British politics beyond its fracture over Europe.

Johnson sought to energize Conservative members and lawmakers ‐ weary after three years of Brexit gridlock ‐ at the party’s annual conference, but he was forced to deny a journalist’s claim that he had grabbed her thigh at a private lunch two decades ago.

Sunday Times columnist Charlotte Edwardes said the incident took place when she worked at The Spectator, a conservative newsmagazine, while Johnson was its editor.

Asked if the allegation was true, Johnson said: "No."

Edwardes stood by her story, tweeting: "If the prime minister doesn’t recollect the incident then clearly I have a better memory than he does."

There are limitations to the technology. For one, it depends on the existence of radio signals, which may not be a given in remote areas of the globe. In addition, the technology is not yet accurate enough to guide missiles, though it could be used to send infrared-homing weapons close to a target.

Bottom line: there is still an emitter than can be destroyed as part of the air defense suppression mission. Being civilian infrastructure, you might not even need something as fancy as anti-radiation missiles to take it down.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
People Behind the Green Door Secretly Erased ‘First-Hand Information' Requirement In August
[The Federalist] Between May 2018 and August 2019, the intelligence community secretly eliminated a requirement that whistleblowers provide direct, first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoings. This raises questions about the intelligence community’s behavior regarding the August submission of a whistleblower complaint against President Donald Trump. The new complaint document no longer requires potential whistleblowers who wish to have their concerns expedited to Congress to have direct, first-hand knowledge of the alleged wrongdoing that they are reporting.

The brand new version of the whistleblower complaint form, which was not made public until after the transcript of Trump’s July 25 phone call with the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and the complaint addressed to Congress were made public, eliminates the first-hand knowledge requirement and allows employees to file whistleblower complaints even if they have zero direct knowledge of underlying evidence and only “heard about [wrongdoing] from others.”

The internal properties of the newly revised “Disclosure of Urgent Concern” form, which the intelligence community inspector general (ICIG) requires to be submitted under the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWPA), show that the document was uploaded on September 24, 2019, at 4:25 p.m., just days before the anti-Trump complaint was declassified and released to the public. The markings on the document state that it was revised in August 2019, but no specific date of revision is disclosed.

The complaint alleges that President Donald Trump broke the law during a phone call with the Ukrainian president. In his complaint, which was dated August 12, 2019, the complainant acknowledged he was “not a direct witness” to the wrongdoing he claims Trump committed.

A previous version of the whistleblower complaint document, which the ICIG and DNI until recently provided to potential whistleblowers, declared that any complaint must contain only first-hand knowledge of alleged wrongdoing and that complaints that provide only hearsay, rumor, or gossip would be rejected.

“The [Intelligence Community Inspector General] cannot transmit information via the ICPWA based on an employee’s second-hand knowledge of wrongdoing,” the previous form stated under the bolded heading “FIRST-HAND INFORMATION REQUIRED.” “This includes information received from another person, such as when an employee informs you that he/she witnessed some type of wrongdoing.”

“If you think that wrongdoing took place, but can provide nothing more than second-hand or unsubstantiated assertions, [the Intelligence Community Inspector General] will not be able to process the complaint or information for submission as an ICWPA,” the form concluded.

Markings on the previous version of the Disclosure of Urgent Concern form show that it was formally approved on May 24, 2018. Here is that original Disclosure of Urgent Concern form prior to the August 2019 revision:

#10  I found this take on the filed complaint interesting:
1) The "Whistleblower" complaint was submitted on a form that didn't exist yet.
2) The "Whistleblower" documents, in FORM and CONTENT were coordinating with unreleased revisions by the ICIG and the Congressional Research Service. There is no way all those different agencies acted on the same issue without coordination.
3) Fortunately, the NEW FORM still includes the sworn statement language which means that THIS "whistleblower" faces jail because the complaint contains patently false information- This subjects the "anonymous leakers" who provided the false or incomplete information to fines and jail time. More INTERESTINGLY, it means the President now gets to depose the "anonymous sources" to determine WHAT THEY KNEW about whether their information was false, and whether it was meant to be used in whistleblower complaint.

Saudi crown prince says war with Iran would gut world economy
[DAWN] Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...

...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
would devastate the global economy and he prefers a non-military solution to tensions with his regional rival.

"If the world does not take a strong and firm action to deter Iran, we will see further escalations that will threaten world interests," Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
...Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia as of 2016....

"Oil supplies will be disrupted and oil prices will jump to unimaginably high numbers that we haven't seen in our lifetimes," the crown prince said.

Girl who accused white boys of cutting dreadlocks at Pence school admits she made it up
[WASHINGTONTIMES] The family of a sixth-grade girl who accused three white boys at her private Christian school in Virginia of forcibly cutting her dreadlocks last week said Monday that the allegations were false.

In separate statements released by Immanuel Christian School, where Vice President Mike Pence’s wife Karen Pence teaches art, head of school Stephen Danish and the family of 12-year-old Amari Allen said the widely reported incident was fabricated.

"We can now confirm that the student who accused three of her classmates of assault has acknowledged that the allegations were false," said Mr. Danish in a statement provided to the Washington Times. "We’re grateful to the Fairfax County Police Department for their diligent work to investigate these allegations."

The girl, who is black, accused three unnamed white boys of pinning her down, covering her mouth, and cutting some of her dreadlocks while calling them "ugly" and "nappy," according to media reports.

She also told Fox5 in Washington, D.C., that the boys said she "didn’t deserve to be here" at the school.

Her family issued a statement apologizing to the boys and their parents but did not explain why the girl made up the story, which was widely reported on local and national news outlets.

"To those young boys and their parents, we sincerely apologize for the pain and anxiety these allegations have caused," said the family’s statement. "To the administrators and families of Immanuel Christian School, we are sorry for the damage this incident has done to trust within the school family and the undue scorn it has brought to the school."

The statement continued: "To the broader community, who rallied in such passionate support for our daughter, we apologize for betraying your trust. We understand there will be consequences, and we’re prepared to take responsibility for them. We know that it will take time to heal, and we hope and pray that the boys, their families, the school and the broader community will be able to forgive us in time."

The private Christian school in Springfield, Virginia, where tuition is listed at about $12,000 per year, drew headlines after hiring Mrs. Pence to teach art.

"While we are relieved to hear the truth and bring the events of the past few days to a close, we also feel tremendous pain for the victims and the hurt on both sides of this conflict," said Mr. Danish. "We recognize that we now enter what will be a long season of healing."

The Fairfax County Police Department had been investigating the report, according to Fox5.
National Review adds:
News outlets from the Daily Beast to the New York Times picked up on the story after local-news stations broadcast interviews with Allen and her grandmother, both tearfully recounting the alleged attack. NBC Nightly News dedicated a segment of its September 27 airing to Allen. And even today, a local Fox station reported that the school was deliberating the punishments to be given to the three boys.

California will allow college athletes to profit from endorsements under bill signed by Newsom
[LATIMES] Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed a bill that will allow Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, athletes to earn money from the use of their names, images and likenesses, despite warnings from the National Collegiate Athletic Assn. that the measure would upend amateur sports.

Senate Bill 206 by Sen. Nancy Skinner (D-Berkeley) garnered national attention, with athletes including NBA stars LeBron James and Draymond Green lauding the California effort to give college athletes a share of the windfall they help create for their universities and NCAA. The bill passed the state Legislature unanimously.

Newsom signed the bill on an episode of Uninterrupted’s talk show "The Shop" with James, WNBA’s Diana Taurasi and former UCLA basketball player Ed O’Bannon, saying the new law addresses a "major problem for the NCAA." The episode was recorded Friday but released Monday, according to Newsom’s office.

Bi-Bi-Biden, New York Congressman Chris Collins resigns amid insider trade probe
[BBC] Republican New York Congressman Chris Collins has resigned from Congress amid reports he plans to plead guilty to charges of insider trading.

According to prosecutors, Mr Collins gave confidential information about an Australian biotechnology firm to his son.

He had called the charges "meritless" and pleaded not guilty, but will reportedly change his plea on Tuesday.

Mr Collins' upstate New York district is overwhelmingly Republican.

He was able to win his re-election campaign last year despite facing charges of securities and wire fraud, and of making false statements to FBI investigators.

According to a spokesman for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Mr Collins on Monday submitted his letter of resignation which will take effect on Tuesday.

According to US media, Mr Collins will change his plea to guilty during a hearing in a Manhattan court on Tuesday. It's unclear if he will plead guilty to the original charges against him or another set of charges.

Mr Collins was one of the first mainstream Republicans to endorse Donald Trump's presidential candidacy.

He was arrested by the FBI last August after prosecutors alleged that he alerted his son to a failed drug trial, allowing him to divest and avoid more than $500,000 (£406,000) in losses.

50 women, 28 men fall victim to karo-kari across Sindh in six months
[DAWN] Amid so many challenges faced by the law enforcement agencies and the criminal justice system, killings in the name of so-called honour, or karo-kari
...the Pak practice of murdering women on suspicion of having had 'illicit relations' with other than a close relative...
killings, mainly in rural parts of Sindh, continue unabated as more than 70 people have bit the dust during the first six months of the current year, it emerged on Sunday.

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
investigations into majority of such cases remain inconclusive bringing no one to justice but have allowed acquittal of a few suspects.

Official figures suggested that some 78 people were killed from January to June 2019 in different parts of Sindh in the name of karo-kari leading to registration of 65 cases. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
more than 90 per cent cases were pending trial due to different reasons and in most cases the police probe had not reached to a conclusion.

"Among 78 victims, 50 were women and 28 men," said a source citing the data. "Total 65 FIRs have been registered in different parts of Sindh for honour killings and charge sheets in 60 cases filed. Some 57 cases are still pending with no conviction in any case. However,
a hangover is the wrath of grapes...
three people have been acquitted during the process. In most cases the suspects are close relatives of the victims."

The concern in the police hierarchy over the status of investigations into honour killing cases echoed in a recent meeting chaired by Inspector General of Police Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, who last month reviewed the progress made by police in their assignments related to karo-kari.

Montana Indian Reservation hit with one meter of white global warming
HELENA, Mont. (AP) ‐ Some schools in Montana took their earliest snow day in memory Monday after a blizzard dumped several feet of snow, while plunging temperatures threatened crops across other parts of the Rocky Mountains in an unusually early blast of wintry weather.

Freeze warnings were in effect in parts of Utah and Idaho, and temperatures were expected to drop into the teens and 20s in those states and Montana overnight and Tuesday morning. The cold set in with the lingering fall storm system that dumped snow for three days across much of central and western Montana, including over 4 feet (1 meter) on the Blackfeet Reservation and Glacier National Park.

While parts of the Rockies were dealing with frigid temperatures and unusually early snow, warnings of extreme wildfire danger emerged in eastern Utah and much of Colorado, where temperatures as high as the mid-80s (30 degrees Celsius), gusty winds and dry air were expected to create critical conditions.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock has declared an emergency after the storm brought heavy, wet snow and high winds that closed roads, downed trees and caused scattered power outages. The declaration allows the state to mobilize resources to help areas that were hit.

The snow and treacherous roads led to school closures Monday in Montana towns near the Rocky Mountains that received the most snow. School superintendents in some of those communities said they couldn’t remember the last time they had to cancel school this early because of snow.

Chemnitz neo-Nazi group in court over Germany attack plot
[DW] Eight members of an alleged neo-Nazi
...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both....
terror cell from Chemnitz are on trial in an eastern German court. The case involves a suspected plan to carry out "violent attacks" and launch a civil-war-like rebellion in Berlin.

The trial against the far-right Revolution Chemnitz group was set to begin in Dresden's Higher Regional Court on Monday.

The eight suspects ‐ aged between 21 and 32 ‐ are accused of "forming a right-wing terrorist organization" in the eastern city of Chemnitz in September 2018.

COMPLEX TERROR CASE
The trial, expected to run until at least April 2020, is one of the most complex cases to come before the Dresden court, involving more than 60 files and testimony from around 75 witnesses.

The accused are alleged leaders in the skinhead, hooligan and neo-Nazi scenes in and around Chemnitz.

Violent anti-migrant riots erupted in the eastern German city last year following the fatal stabbing of a German man by a Syrian asylum-seeker in August.

Prosecutors say five of the defendants "armed with glass bottles, weighted knuckle gloves, and an electroshock appliance" launched an attack on several foreign residents of Chemnitz in September 2018.

They allege this incident was a "test run" for the planned rampage in Berlin on October 3. Police arrested the suspects in raids on October 1.

RISING DANGER OF VIOLENCE
The eastern state of Saxony, where Chemnitz is located, has seen a fierce backlash against Chancellor Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
's decision to allow almost a million refugees to enter Germany in 2015.

Support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party and the anti-Islam PEGIDA movement is particularly strong there. In regional elections earlier this month, the AfD won 27.5% of the vote, only slightly behind Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats on 32%.

Interior Minister Horst Seehofer has warned that the danger posed by the bully boy right is growing and is "as big a threat as radical Islamism."

Seehofer announced over the weekend that police last year uncovered 1,091 weapons during investigations linked to the far right ‐ a significant increase from the 676 found in 2017.

LHC allows Hafiz Saeed's case to be shifted from Gujranwala to Lahore
[DAWN] The Lahore High Court on Monday allowed that a terrorism financing case against Hafiz Saeed, chief of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa
...the front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba...
(JuD), be shifted from a Gujranwala anti-terrorism court (ATC) to one in Lahore.

LHC Chief Justice Sardar Shamim Ahmed heard a petition filed by Saeed in which he said that he was being kept in a jail in Lahore but was transported to Gujranwala for every appearance before the court.

He said that in light of the security situation, appearing before the Gujranwala court was not fitting and added that if he was being held in a jail in Lahore, the case should also be shifted there.

During the proceedings, a lawyer for the government said that they had no objection to shifting the case.

Issuing the order, the LHC chief justice wrapped up the petition.

In July, Saeed was arrested in connection with the terrorism financing case while on his way from Lahore to Gujranwala. Prior to his arrest, the , were booked in nearly two dozen casestop 13 leaders of JuD, including Saeed and Naib Emir Abdul Rehman Makki for terror financing and money laundering under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

Israel responsible for attacks on Popular Mobilization Units: Iraqi PM
[PRESSTV] Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi has held Israel responsible for a string of attacks on the positions of the pro-government Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), following investigations into recent assaults on the voluntary forces.

"Investigations into the targeting of some Popular Mobilization Forces positions indicate that Israel carried it out," Abdul-Mahdi said in an interview with the Doha-based Arabic-language al-Jazeera television news network on Monday.

The Iraqi prime minister added that "many indicators show that no one wants war in the region except for Israel."

Earlier this month, the air defenses of the Popular Mobilization Units, better known by the Arabic name Hashd al-Sha'abi, thwarted an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
by an "unidentified" drone on a main military base in Iraq's north-central province of Salahuddin.

The Salahuddin Operations Command Center of the volunteer forces announced in a statement on September 11 that missile defense systems fired shots at the aircraft as it was flying over the headquarters of the 35th Brigade of the fighters.

ISIS widows in deadly clash with SDF guards at Syria’s notorious al-Hol camp
[Rudaw] A widow of an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
) fighter died and several others were maimed in an armed clash with women security guards from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) at al-Hol camp in the northeast Syrian province of Hasaka on Monday. About 50 others were detained as a result of the clash, according to local sources.

"A group of women of the Organization [ISIS] inside the camp who were secretly working as Hisba, tried to whip a woman," reported the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Monday.

Security guard (Asayesh) intervention in the attempted whipping led to an armed clash between both sides, SOHR added, in which the ISIS-affiliated women used light weaponry against the camp guards.

Hisba refers to ISIS’ inquisitors religious police, who took it as their duty to punish violators of their interpretation of Sharia (Islamic) law during ISIS reign in Syria between 2014 and 2019.

"Two women from the Organization’s families attempted to assassinate an Iraqi refugee, by stabbing him in the abdomen ... which seriously injured him," the UK-based watchdog also said of Monday’s violence.

SDF-affiliated Hawar News Agency (ANHA) reported that one ISIS woman was killed and seven others injured in the festivities, adding that the subsequent Asayesh crackdown led to the arrest of at least 50 ISIS-affiliated women.

The incident gives weight to warnings by the Kurdish-led SDF and international organizations that the camp has become an incubator for ISIS ideology, at a time when group members are known to be reorganizing in parts of both Syria and Iraq.

It also amplifies the SDF’s concerns that it does not possess the manpower or resources to indefinitely hold thousands of ISIS members at the camp. The Kurdish-led forces have called repeatedly for international assistance to try suspected fighters, while they and US officials have implored foreign governments to repatriate their nationals - a call to which few have responded.

The group additionally faces pressure from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
, which has threatened incursions into SDF-controlled territory outside of its joint operation agreement with the US. Kurdish leaders in northeast Syria have said military pressure from Turkey would force them to put counter-ISIS efforts on the backburner in order to counter a Ottoman Turkish threat.

Unnamed sources told pro-SDF North Press Agency (NPA) that 40 ISIS women were detained after the skirmish. The NPA dedeucted based on videos of the incident that the attackers were non-Syrians.

The notorious al-Hol camp is home to about 70,000 people, including more than 11,000 family members of ISIS bandidos holy warriors from overseas.

Attacks against Kurdish Asayesh and air workers have taken place at the camp in the past including the stabbing of a camp guard by a female ISIS prisoner in July.

Kashmiris see war as only solution to end the Kashmir crisis
[PRESSTV] Bertha Shahana Butt
Press TV, Kashmir

The standstill in Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
has entered its 8th week. Amid a security crackdown and communication blackout, people of the region eagerly waited for a global response to their crisis during the 74th UN General Assembly session; however, it all ended in disappointment.

The international community failed to convince India to resolve the long-pending dispute with Pakistain over the Kashmir region, despite being aware of their past scuffles.

Frustrated over the cold global response to their crisis, people of Kashmir see war as the only solution to the matter once for all.

Despite repeated calls for mediation to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistain, India adamantly maintains that Kashmir is its domestic issue while Pakistain reminds the world of the disputed nature of the issue and the scores of UN resolutions passed over the controversial matter.

Caught between the two nuclear armed rivals are millions of Kashmiris who have closed businesses, educational institutions, shops and other life activities for almost two months, hoping to receive international assistance.

Kashmiris must be given the right to decide their future. By imposing themselves on us, the two countries will lead nowhere and oppression will lead to more rebellion.

The disputed Kashmir region once again made headlines across the world after India altered the special status of the disputed Kashmir region by unilaterally scrapping it in August. Afterwards, New Delhi imposed the toughest-ever security crackdown, scuttled almost all the advanced means of communications, including cellular networks, and arrested not only those who supported the pro-freedom ideology, but also cracked down on its own league operating in the region.

Although a lot of criticism has surrounded India’s recent behavior in Kashmir, the global community has failed to pressure India to resolve the matter with Pakistain. Many accuse world powers of siding with India for their own economic interests.

Million march decision irreversible, says JUI-F chief
[DAWN] Chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Sunday said that his party’s decision about the “million march” towards Islamabad was irreversible, saying “neither do we want to strike any deal with the government nor do we want to give it any space”.

Speaking at a press conference after JUI-F district executive council’s meeting here on Sunday, he said they don’t accept the “illegitimate” government of Imran Khan which had been imposed on the masses as a result of “rigged” elections. “The establishment is responsible for the illegitimate government,” he said, but added that his party did not want any confrontation with state institutions.

Commenting on the prime minister’s speech on the Kashmir issue at the UN General Assembly, the JUI-F chief said that emotional speeches alone were not enough for a just settlement of the Kashmir issue and practical steps were necessary to convince the world about the seriousness of Pakistan’s stand.

“What message the prime minister wants to convey to the world when he threatened to start nuclear war with India and admitted during an interview that the ISI and Pakistan Army had trained the activists of Al Qaeda,” he said.

US says 128,000 Syrians subject to arbitrary detention
[AlAhram] The United States said Monday nearly 128,000 people face arbitrary detention by the Syrian regime and called for their release.

"This practice is unacceptable," US Ambassador Kelly Craft told the UN Security Council at its monthly meeting on the conflict in Syria.

"The Assad regime must release detainees and provide international monitors access to detention centers," she said.

Syria's Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Trampler of Homs...
has declared several amnesties of prisoners since the conflict began in 2011 -- notably in 2014, 2018, and in mid-September.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin called for the "elimination of Lions of Islam in Idlib" province, while stressing that utmost care be taken to spare civilians.

The conflict has claimed the lives of an estimated 370,000 people.

"The time has come to encourage and not impede Syria's return to the Arab family," Vershinin said.

Syria was suspended from the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
in 2011, and the issue of its return has divided the organization's members for more than a year.

Security Council members welcomed the creation of a UN-sponsored constitutional committee by the government and the opposition, after two years of arduous negotiations.

The UN envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, said the committee's formation marked the first concrete political agreement between the government and the opposition.

"It is also a shared promise to the Syrian people to try to agree under the auspices of the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
on new constitutional arrangements for Syria -- a new social contract to help repair a broken country," he said.

The committee's 150 members are supposed to hold their first meeting October 30 in Geneva.

Its revision of the constitution is viewed by the UN as a first step toward holding elections that would include the Syrian diaspora.

Last week, the Syrian regime stressed that no deadline has been set for the committee to conclude its work.

One dead, 10 missing after vessel sinks in Atlantic
[PRESSTV] One crew member has been found dead and 10 others are still missing after a supply vessel operated by a French oil services group sank in hurricane conditions in the Atlantic, the ship's operator said on Monday.

The Luxembourg-flagged Bourbon Rhode, crewed mainly by Ukrainians, ran into difficulty in the Atlantic late last week as it ran into hurricane Lorenzo, and was later confirmed to have sunk.

A major search operation was then launched for the 14 people who were on board the tug supply vessel. Three crew members who had made their way onto a lifeboat were rescued on Saturday.

The Bourbon Rhode's operator, French marine logistics group Bourbon, which provides services to oil rigs, said one body had now been found but the search was continuing for the other crew members.

"The body of the missing seafarer was located by one of the aircraft involved in the search and has been recovered by one of the five vessels that came to assist," Bourbon said.

"Rescue operations are continuing to find the other crew members, with significant maritime and air search resources deployed by the French and American authorities," it added.

The ship ran close to the eye of the category 4 hurricane some 1,200 nautical miles from the French Caribbean island of Martinique.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry said "around 10" of its citizens were missing after the ship sank. "The search operation is ongoing," the ministry official, Vasyl Kyrylych, told AFP by phone.

Instead of assisting DHS upon request, officers are instructed to wait for their supervisor to arrive, the memo said. Once the supervisor arrives, "if the request is to assist with an immigration arrest or detention, CPD personnel will leave the scene as directed by the CPD supervisor," according to the memo.

Elizabeth Warren: Amnesty for All Illegal Aliens Is ‘Good’ for American Workers
[BREITBART] Sen. Elizabeth Being Native American has been part of my story since the day I was born Warren
...Dem Senatrix from Massachussetts, who traces her noble lineage all the way back to Big Chief Spouting Bull. It has been alleged that she speaks with forked tongue but she denies that. She had a DNA test to prove her lineage and it turns out she's colorless...
(D-MA), a top candidate for the 2020 Democrat presidential nomination, says amnesty for every illegal alien living in the United States is "good for" American workers who will be forced to compete against newly legalized low-skilled foreign workers.

During a town hall with the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union in Madison Heights, Michigan, Warren said she will give amnesty to all 12 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the country, a move that would immediately drive up foreign competition in the labor market for America’s working and blue-collar class.

Warren said:

We need a pathway to citizenship for the people who are here and here to stay. They are our neighbors; they are our brothers and sisters. They are here. We need a path ‐ not just for DREAMers ‐ but also a path for grandmas, and for little kids, and for people who came here to work on farms, and for students who overstayed their visas. We need a path that is fair and achievable. Bring people out of the shadows. It is good for all workers, and we need to get them into our unions. [Emphasis added]

Similarly, Warren is promising to expand legal immigration levels, which are already at historically record-high rates. About 1.2 million mostly low-skilled legal immigrants colonists are admitted every year, not including the hundreds of thousands who arrive on temporary visas to compete against Americans for jobs.

"We need to expand legal immigration," Warren said. "The Trump administration has cut it. Families are separated now for years through the legal system. People are frustrated with what they can’t do."

Though Warren has taken a populist-nationalist stance on various economic policies, her plan to support more immigration to the U.S. is a key component of the globalist ideology supported by the nation’s donor class.

High levels of immigration, illegal and legal, put downward pressure on U.S. wages while redistributing about $500 billion in wealth away from America’s working and middle class and towards employers and new arrivals, research by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine has found.

Research by analyst Steven Camarotta has found that every one percent increase in the immigrant portion of American workers’ occupations reduces their weekly wages by about 0.5 percent. This means the average native-born American worker today has his weekly wages reduced by perhaps 8.5 percent because of current legal immigration levels.

While Warren seeks to increase foreign competition against American workers in the labor market, President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
has pursued policy initiatives to decrease competition, increasing U.S. wages and giving American workers leverage over businesses.

Telecommunications Attacked In North
[ToloNews] Sources say turbans attacked telecommunication centers in Baghlan, causing damage of more than several million dollars.

On Sunday, sources say that infrastructure in Baghlan province used by multiple telecommunication companies was targeted by Death Eaters. The attacks resulted in damage amounting to more than several million dollars and affected communications in Baghlan, Kunduz and Balkh provinces.

Insurgents shutdown the network by starting fires at the two Baghlan centers within the last 24 hours, sources say.

The estimated combined cost is over several million US dollars.

Pakistan summons Indian diplomat over shelling in Kashmir
[PRESSTV] Pakistain has summoned India’s deputy high commissioner in the wake of a recent ceasefire violation by Indian forces in the disputed Himalayan region of Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". "The ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security and may lead to a strategic miscalculation," Pakistain’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Monday.

Gaurav Ahluwalia, the deputy high commissioner, was summoned to hear Islamabad’s protest.

Pakistain says a 60-year-old woman and a teenage boy were killed in a deadly shelling along the volatile Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday and Sunday.

A front man for India’s Foreign Ministry said it had no immediate comment on the matter.

Kashmir has long been a flash point between India and Pakistain, which have fought two of their three wars over the disputed territory. Both countries rule parts of Kashmir while claiming it in full.

India regularly accuses Pakistain of arming and training Death Eaters and allowing them across the restive frontier in an attempt to launch attacks. Pakistain strongly denies the allegation.
"allowing"? Try "Sending"
On August 5, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a surprise executive decree to strip the Indian-controlled portion of the Moslem-majority region of its special status. Modi claimed the decision was necessary for Kashmir’s economic development and it was meant to stop "terrorism."

Staff Sgt. Rogers goes to Leavenworth
[Mil.com] RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany -- An airman who used hidden cameras to film women as they undressed, bathed or used the toilet while staying in his home was sentenced to five years in jail Thursday by a court-martial here.

Staff Sgt. Andrew P. Rogers admitted at a general court-martial this week that, between November 2015 and April 2018, he used cameras hidden in alarm clocks and smoke alarms and set up in the bathroom and guest bedroom of his off-base house, to film more than half a dozen women who stayed with him or house-sat for him while he was away. The cameras were angled to capture the women's private areas as they engaged in intimate activity such as bathing or undressing, the court heard.

Some of the devices were motion-activated and connected to WiFi, allowing Rogers to view live-stream video of the women from wherever he happened to be. Other videos were saved on data cards, and Rogers would view them later on his laptop or phone, the court was told.

One of the women, who met Rogers through social media, told the court she was excited to stay at his home with her sister-in law last year, to feed Rogers' fish while he vacationed in Bali.

Rogers encouraged the women to use the bathtub and bath salts that he had, but told them not to use the bathroom's separate shower, the woman recalled being told.

She soon learned the reason for the no-shower instructions, and her discovery unraveled a dirty secret that this week ended Rogers' promising Air Force career.

Rogers pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent recording, an Article 120c violation under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He was found guilty of a seventh specification of the same offense, but not guilty of two further, similar counts and one specification of indecent exposure.

In addition to sending him to jail for five years, military judge Lt. Col. Willie Babor gave Rogers a dishonorable discharge and demoted him to E-1. The stiff sentence was just shy of the six years requested by government prosecutors.

Rogers used his "deceptively friendly personality" to lure seven unsuspecting women to his home and then "shattered their trust one by one," recording their intimate moments to satisfy his sexual perversions, said Capt. Ryan Schmidt, one of the military prosecutors.

ATC returns Mureed Abbas murder case to sessions court in Karachi
[DAWN] The case pertaining to the murder of TV anchorperson Mureed Abbas and another person allegedly by their business partner took another turn on Monday, with an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
ruling that the case did not fall within the meaning of ’terrorism’.

The ATC-I judge thus transferred the case to the District South sessions court for conducting the trial of a detained suspect, Atif Zaman, in the double murder.

Police had booked and arrested Zaman for allegedly killing his two business partners ‐ Abbas and Khizar Hayat ‐ in Khayaban-e-Bukhari, DHA, on the night of July 9.

Earlier, Judicial Magistrate (South) Abdul Raqeeb Tunio had referred the case to the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts on August 20 for further trial, observing that the matter fell within the ambit of terrorism.

The magistrate had accepted the charge sheet filed by the investigating officer, who had incorporated Section 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, in addition to the charge of murder.

On Monday, the ATC judge pronounced his verdict on an application moved by Atif Zaman seeking the transfer of the case to the sessions court.

The judge ruled that the motive behind the murder, according to the FIR, appeared to be a dispute between the parties on account of an investment of the dear departed with the suspect. He further declared that the incident did not cause any sense of terror in the society, and therefore it did not fall within the meaning of terrorism.

The judge allowed the suspect’s application for transfer of the case to the sessions court concerned.

The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
, has been reopened for trade and traffic after two days of closures due to the Afghanistan's Caped Presidential elections, Pak media reported on Monday.

Pakistain’s government announced on Thursday, September 26, that the closure of the crossing for the next two days was to aid security for the election , held on Saturday, September 28.

According to Pak media, the restriction was applied to everyone except in the case of patients who needed emergency care; even NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
supply vehicles were prevented from crossing.

Earlier in the year, Pakistain’s Prime Minister Imran Khan
...aka The Great Khan, who is the lightweight's lightweight...
directed relevant authorities to make arrangements for keeping Torkham crossing open 24/7, and the opening ceremony of the 24-hour crossing at Torkham was held in mid-September. Prime Minister Imran Khan was in attendance along with a number of Afghan government officials, including Nangarhar governor Shah Mahmoud Miakhail and acting Minister of Public Works Yama Yari.

The presence of Afghan officials at the 24-hour Torkham Crossing ceremony caused controversy as it is on the Durand Line, which Pakistain claims as its border and Afghanistan does not. For some critics, including former Afghan president Hamed Karzai, the attendance of Afghan officials tacitly legitimated Pakistain’s claim to the Durand Line as a border.

The border issued has provided ammunition for campaign skirmishes, as former national security chief and presidential candidate Rahmatullah Nabil alleged that President Ghani has chosen to recognize the Durand Line as a border between Afghanistan and Pakistain for his own personal interests.

Nabil claimed that based on his information, Pakistain has been pulling the fence inside Afghanistan up to 20 km and has distributed Pak ID cards in those areas.

The Afghan government, however, says that only the Afghan people can decide on the Durand Line.

Pope Could Soon Say ‘I Do’ to Married Priests--and Open a Schism
Another Crisis in the Church®.Really. Protestant ministers routinely marry. Rabbis routinely marry. Orthodox priests routinely marry. Mormon ministers marry. Catholic priests were allowed to marry up until the 11th century. Given the scandals of the past forty years or so, I'd call clerical marriage a good thing.
[THEDAILYBEAST] In October 2017, when Pope Francis announced a Vatican synod on the Amazon region “to identify new paths for the evangelization of God’s people in that region,” few people beyond those who had to attend marked it on their calendars. But over the course of the last two years, as the church prepared for the synod, which will run from Oct. 6 to 27 in Rome, it’s become clear there may be no more important meeting in Francis’ entire papacy.

One item among the 146 topics on the agenda listed in the 45-page working document has eclipsed all others–including the pope’s focus on climate change and poverty. That is whether or not to allow married “viri probati”–men of proven virtue–to be ordained as priests for the purpose of delivering the big sacraments: baptism, confession, weddings and funerals, in far flung areas where no priests are present.

Bishop Rafael Cob, apostolic vicar of Puyo, Ecuador, who will be attending the synod in Rome, said that the Church must “respond to a concrete challenge in a concrete reality.”

“The Amazon is a geographically difficult region to evangelize, first because of its distance, its inaccessibility,” he told reporters at a press conference in Rome. “But there also is a lack of candidates who can or want to be priests with the issue of celibacy. So, logically, the Church is looking for new methods to respond to concrete challenges.”

#6  The early church allowed married priests. A thousand years ago, when the church amassed so much wealth was marriage forbidden so the church's wealth could not be handed down to the clergy's descendants.

Don't think that will be a problem anymore. Less relative wealth, more transparent accountability and information travels too fast to hide it.

I'm not real up on the intricacies of Buddhism, but...

  • I haven't heard of Buddhist "priests." Shinto, yes, Buddhist, no.

  • Recalling ancient conversations with Lesser Vehicle monks in Thailand, most men who become monks do it for a year to five years, not for life. I don't even think Abbots stay forever, unless they retire into a monestary.

  • It gives them time to concentrate on the Whichness of Why, or the Whatever of the Human Navel, and it teaches them some humility.

  • No idea if the same applies to Greater Vehicle Buddhists, and I'm even less informed on oddballs like Tantrists.

US targets two Russians over alleged attempts to sway 2018 midterm elections
[PRESSTV] The administration of US President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
has imposed sanctions on two Russian nationals over accusations of attempting to interfere in the 2018 US midterm elections.

The US Treasury Department said in a statement on Monday that it had blacklisted Igor Nesterov, 34, and Denis Kuzmin, 28, over links to the Internet Research Agency, an organization that US authorities claimed was tasked with spreading disinformation and false news.

"Today, the US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action against Russian actors that attempted to influence the 2018 US midterm elections, though there was no indication that foreign actors were able to compromise election infrastructure that would have prevented voting, changed vote counts, or disrupted the tallying of votes," the statement said.

"This Administration will work tirelessly to safeguard our electoral process, and will aggressively pursue any other foreign actor that attempts to interfere in the 2020 elections," it added.

The Internet Research Agency was accused in a report by former US special counsel Robert Mueller of using social media to interfere in the 2016 US presidential election.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran rattles saber again
[PRESSTV] Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri says the Islamic Theocratic Republic has mustered sustainable and strong deterrence power to ward off plots by enemies who think about any form of aggression against the country.

General Baqeri made the remarks while addressing a national gathering of commanders and staff officials of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) on Monday.

"Praise be to God, at the present time, a sustainable and strong form of deterrence has been created in the face of enemy’s plot to carry out any act of aggression against the Islamic Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and enemies have understood that the Islamic Iran enjoys the readiness, determination and courage and will not hesitate to defend its ideals, land and people," he said.

The top Iranian commander noted, "At the present time, the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Iran, as a superior regional power, recognizes its responsibility for maintaining regional security and stability and plays a basic role in this regard... it does not think about ... waging war and sowing insecurity and seeks calm and tranquility through regional cooperation."

Baqeri pointed to great achievements made by the IRGC's Aerospace Division and said the reinforcement of the country's defense, missile and drone capabilities, showing off the vigilant and firm preparedness of the country’s armed forces to counter the enemy's threats and plots, the destruction of the terrorists' bastions in different regional areas and the downing of an intruding US drone demonstrated only parts of the might of the IRGC and the Islamic establishment.

Trump warns of ‘civil war’ in US if Democrats impeached him
[PRESSTV] US President Donald Trump
...the Nailer of NAFTA...
is warning that the Democrat-driven impeachment proceedings and any move to oust him from office amount to "treason" and would spark a civil war, prompting outrage from a Republican congressman.

Trump tweeted a conservative pastor’s comment that removing him would provoke a "civil war-like fracture" in America.

US Representative Adam Kinzinger, a former Air Force pilot who represents an Illinois district Trump won in 2016, tweeted on Sunday, "I have visited nations ravaged by civil war. ... I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant."

Trump on Monday was thundering through a new round of counter-punches against his opponents by hammering home the suggestion that they should be arrested and charged with treason and could launch a civil war ‐ or a combination of those.

Starbucks becomes latest target of Hong Kong protester rage
[DAWN] Starbucks has emerged as the latest brand to fall foul of Hong Kong's pro-democracy protesters after a family member of the local restaurant chain that owns the local franchise spoke out against demonstrators.

Multiple branches were covered with graffiti over the weekend as the city convulsed with some of the most intense festivities between hardcore protesters and riot police in weeks.

One cafe in the district of Wanchai was daubed with slogans saying "boycott" as well as insults to the police and Maxim's Caterers, a major Hong Kong restaurant chain that runs Starbucks outlets in the city.

The vandalism illustrates the huge pressures on international brands as Hong Kong is shaken by its worst political unrest in decades.

Beijing is piling pressure on businesses to publicly condemn the protests.

Those that do risk a protester backlash, but staying silent risks financial punishment on the mainland, a far more lucrative market.

Study Shows Moderate Voters REJECT Democrats When they Learn Of The Far Left Push
[YouTube] Video from Tim Pool showing moderates and some Demoncrats rejecting the radical leftist lean of the party.

A couple things I thought were interesting I wanted to point out. He shows a graph from the New York Slimes showing independents at 6 points more likely to NOT vote Demoncrat. Also registered Demoncrats lose one point on left lean.

So I went and looked at the states that Hillary won by 6% points or less for a view on how this may effect things.

The brown "battleground" states are the ones that Hillary won by less than 6% or Trump won by a whisker thin margin. Most of the rust belt states the Demoncrats will be fighting for their lives in as the Union workers reject the radical left.

Trump pulls in PA, WI and MI again and he is at 265. The left has really cut their throat with the push by the radicals.

Which is why you are seeing such a push for impeachment. They know they are (currently, long time yet to go) set to lose and lose big.

#7  BLUF: Not to get cocky but Florida is moving red. If Trump carries Florida, Pennsylvania and one other midwestern rustbelt state, it's hard to see him losing.

Very hard to see CO or NV shifting to Trump, or NH shifting to Warren.

OTOH, Ohio's definitely now a red state and Florida's moving red, perhaps partly because of the horror show that is Venezuela and the Dems' lurch to the left combining to terrify expats in south FL.

So that gets Trump to 219 + 29 = 248 per the map. However, North Carolina should be gray, not red: it's definitely in play now for the Democrats. So the real baseline is probably 248 - 15 = 233 for Trump (including Florida).

Likewise, it's hard to really see Nevada or Colorado as being in play, so the Democrats' total is more like 187 + 6 + 9 = 202.

So the Dems need 68 votes from the battleground states, and the Repubs need 38.

They'll be fighting over at most 9 states: likely 4 rustbelt states totaling 56 votes, 3 sunbelt states totaling 39 votes, and maybe NH-ME totaling 8 votes:

- Pennsylvania 20
- Michigan 16
- Wisconsin 10
- Minnesota 10
- Virginia 13
- North Carolina 15
- Arizona 11

- New Hampshire 4
- Maine 4

Let's say Fauxcahontas picks up all the lefties in NH and ME, and barely wins those states. Then she will still need 60 votes from the 4 rustbelt and 3 sunbelt states.

Trump needs only 30 votes from those 7 states, every one of which has at least 10 votes. Really, he just needs to carry Pennsylvania and only one of the 6 remaining battleground states.

Not to get cocky, but Warren's anti-fracking stand will lose her western Pennsylvania.

Trump needs to hit this hard. If he does so, and if he can avoid doing stupid things that alienate suburbanites in the other battleground states, he'll win easily.

Popular fashion retailer Forever 21 has filed for bankrupcy
[IMAGES.DAWN] Fashion retailer Forever 21 Inc filed for bankruptcy on Sunday, as it joined a growing list of brick-and-mortar players who have succumbed to the onslaught of e-commerce companies such as Amazon.com Inc.

Since the start of 2017, more than 20 U.S. retailers, including Sears Holdings Corp and Toys ’R’ Us, have filed for bankruptcy as more customers shop online and eschew large malls.

Forever 21 said the restructuring will allow it to focus on the profitable core part of its operations and shut some international locations.

"We have requested approval to close up to 178 stores across the U.S. The decisions as to which domestic stores will be closing are ongoing, pending the outcome of continued conversations with landlords," the company said in an email statement.

POTUS says intelligence chairman Schiff should be arrested for treason
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday escalated his attacks against the lawmaker leading the impeachment inquiry against him, suggesting that Representative Adam Schiff be arrested for "treason."

The comment is likely to inflame criticism of Trump’s handling of the scandal engulfing his presidency, stemming from a telephone call in which Trump asked Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Democratic rival Joe Biden and his son.

The telephone call was included in an intelligence officer’s whistleblower complaint that raised concerns about whether the president sought to leverage U.S. aid to Ukraine for a political favor.

"Rep. Adam Schiff illegally made up a FAKE & terrible statement, pretended it to be mine as the most important part of my call to the Ukrainian President, and read it aloud to Congress and the American people. It bore NO relationship to what I said on the call. Arrest for Treason?" Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.

Trump appeared to reference statements made by Schiff during a hearing held by the House Intelligence Committee, of which Schiff is the chairman. Schiff said his remarks parodied Trump’s comments on the call with Zelenskiy.

The Republican president has increasingly lashed out at political opponents since House Democrats announced on Tuesday they would pursue an impeachment inquiry.

Less than just a month ago, very few people believed a presidential election would take place in Afghanistan. US-Taliban talks in Doha, growing insecurity and intensifying political divisions had created an uncertain environment in the war-ravaged country. On top of all that, the Afghan Taliban had declared an all-out war against the vote, threatening civilians, electoral staff and government forces with attacks during the polls.

Iraq reopens key border crossing with neighboring Syria
Anbar (IraqiNews.com) ‐ Iraq opened on Monday a key border crossing with neighboring Syria, a move which is expected to strengthen trade ties between the two countries.

The crossing was reopened for travelers and trade.

Activists wonder why California Democratic political donor Ed Buck wasn’t arrested sooner
[MERCURYNEWS] When a dead man was carried out of Ed Buck
...Big time Dem donor accused of being a homosexual predator. By the time the third party boy corpse is found OD'd in your house you need a really good lawyer really bad...
’s apartment two years ago, members of the gay political club he lavished with thousands of dollars in political donations swiftly ousted him.

Buck attempted a comeback in early January, less than six months after prosecutors declined to bring charges in the overdose death. He tried to crash the Stonewall Democratic Club’s holiday party at a West Hollywood wine bar, telling members he had been exonerated, club president Lester Aponte said.

"When somebody dies at your house, wouldn’t you think that’s the kind of event that will make you re-examine your life choices?" Aponte told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. "It doesn’t seem like it registered with him at all."

Two days after Buck was escorted out of the bash, another gay man was found dead in his West Hollywood apartment ‐ again from a methamphetamine overdose. Buck is white, and both dead men were black.

He wasn’t stopped until authorities said a third black man nearly died. It’s what victims’ families and their supporters warned about for two years as they tried to get prosecutors to bring charges.

"I said it the last time we were down here that there’s going to be a third victim," said LaTisha Nixon, whose 26-year-old son, Gemmel Moore, was the first to die. "We said there’s gonna be a second victim. We kept saying it because we all knew ... Ed Buck didn’t stop doing what he was doing."

Nixon and her supporters welcomed the arrest but criticized the time it took to put Buck behind bars and renewed their questions about whether a wealthy white Democratic donor benefited because the victims were mostly gay black men and drug users, some of whom were hookers prostitutes sex workers
...the oldest profession was legal (though not always unregulated) for thousands and perhaps even millions of years. That never has made it soething most people want their daughters doing...
and homeless.

"If white gay men had been dying in a black man’s house or anybody’s house, rather, this case would have been taken a lot more seriously," said Jasmyne Cannick, a communications strategist who spearheaded the effort to get justice for Moore. "Ed Buck knew who he was preying on, and he knew that people would not care. Or he thought that people would not care.”

Daesh claims attacks on soldiers in northeast Nigeria
[PRESSTV] Militants in northeastern Nigeria killed at least nine people in an attack on Sunday, sources told Rooters on Monday.

It was the latest in a series of attacks in the northeast that has coincided with the Nigerian military's implementation of a new strategy of withdrawing to "super camps" that the military says can be more easily defended against krazed killer krazed killers.

Some security experts have expressed concerns that the areas vacated under the strategy announced by President Muhammadu Buhari in July are being filled by krazed killers, leaving civilians vulnerable in a region that is grappling with a decade-long insurgency that has killed more than 30,000 people.

One military source and one resident in the town of Gubio, in Borno state, said the attack on the area began around 4:30 p.m. (1530 GMT) and lasted until 9 p.m.

On Monday, ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
grabbed credit for the attack via its Amaq news agency, saying it killed and maimed 18 Nigerian soldiers and took vehicles and weapons before fleeing.

The group said the attack was carried out on Nigerian army barracks in Gubio where Death Eaters clashed with soldiers before the gunnies withdrew from the town.

US House to intensify Trump’s impeachment inquiry
[PRESSTV] The US House of Representatives in Congress plans to intensify this week the impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election...
over his request that a foreign power investigate a domestic political rival with testimony due from witnesses concerning allegations made by a whistleblower within the US intelligence community.

The Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff
...Showboating U.S. Representative for California's 28th congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, Schiff has served in Congress since 2001. He currently serves as the chairman of the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. In a manner reminiscent of Joe McCarthy, on March 22, 2017, in a interview with Chuck Todd on MSNBC Schiff claimed there was “more than circumstantial evidence now” that Donald Trump's campaign colluded with Russia." Todd followed up by asking if he had seen direct evidence of collusion and Schiff responded that there was "evidence that is not circumstantial and is very much worthy of investigation"...

, said on Sunday he expects the whistleblower, who has not been publicly identified, to appear before the panel very soon.
...at which point his identity will become apparent, which will make his/her/its life even more interesting...
Schiff said any effort by Trump to stonewall the probe could be used to impeach him for obstructing Congress.

The whistleblower’s complaint cited a July 25 telephone call in which Trump asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
, one of the leading Democratic candidates seeking to challenge him in 2020, and his son Hunter, who sat on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.

Democrats have accused Trump of pressuring a vulnerable US ally to get dirt on a political rival for personal political gain. Trump’s phone call came after he temporarily froze nearly $400 million in aid intended to help Ukraine deal with unrest by pro-Russia separatists in the eastern part of the country.

German ex-spy chief Maassen to join law firm that represented AfD
[DW] A law firm that represented the populist AfD against Germany's domestic spy agency is now hiring that agency's ex-head. Hans-Georg Maassen lost his job amid allegations of improper dealings with the party.

The controversial former head of Germany's domestic intelligence agency (BfV), Hans-Georg Maassen, is joining a Cologne
...the largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fourth populated city in Germany....
law firm that counts the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD) among its clients, German media reported on Monday.

Maassen has, however, said that he will not take on cases involving the party, according to the reports by broadcasters WDR and NDR and the daily Suddeutsche Zeitung.

"I do not want to be accused of being the AfD's lawyer," he was quoted as saying.

It was partly allegations that he had passed sensitive information to the AfD and harbored sympathies with the party's anti-immigration stance that led to his being forced into retirement in late 2018 after six years as BfV head.

FELLOW CONSERVATIVES
The Cologne firm took successful legal action against the BfV in February of this year to prevent it from continuing to make public its classification of the AfD as a "case under surveillance" (Pruffall) for alleged unconstitutional activities. The court ruled, among other things, that the classification could deter potential voters.

The firm is run by Ralf Höcker, an expert on media law who is also the front man for the WerteUnion, an association of conservatives of which Maassen is also an active member. Although the WerteUnion takes as members only those who already belong to Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
's CDU/CSU conservative bloc, its youth branch JU or associated groups, it is not recognized by the CDU as a party organization.

According to Höcker, the AfD takes only third place among his firm's political clients after the CDU and the SPD.

The reports quoted Maassen as saying he would not take on cases "connected with the BfV," or represent the Left Party or Green Party.

"That would not be good for them or good for me," he was quoted as saying.

Four cops booked after youth dies in house raid in Lahore
[DAWN] Nawab Town police on Sunday registered a murder case against four policemen who allegedly tortured a youth during a raid at his house in Ayub Chowk locality of Nawab Town area on Saturday night.

Action was taken against Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mohammad Younis, constables Yasir, Ansar and police van driver Arshad after scores of locals staged a protest against death of 18-year-old Ashfaq in police raid.

The protesters blocked a road, burnt used tyres and shouted slogans against police, demanding action against the raiding team of Nawab Town police station. The situation remained tense in the area for hours as protesters refused to disperse till registration of a murder case against the policemen involved in the raid.

SP DENIES TORTURE ALLEGATIONS
Senior police officers later reached the spot, held negotiations with the relatives of the deceased boy and assured them that justice would be done.

Ghulam Rasool, father of Ashfaq, said in the FIR that a police team entered his Ayub Chowk residence and thrashed some of his family members.

He said the policemen also subjected his son Ashfaq to severe torture with the butts of their guns and clubs, leaving him seriously injured. Ashfaq was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, he said, adding that his son was a fruit vendor.

It was the third incident reported in Lahore and sixth in Punjab during the last one month or so in which police had been blamed for death of a suspect. Clips of some of these incidents uploaded on social media caused further embarrassment to Punjab police high-ups.

Taking notice, Punjab Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan had issued new standard operating procedure (SOP) for all the field officers so that such incidents could be checked in future.

A police source said that the team of the Nawab Town police station had conducted the raid on a tip-off that a gambling den was being run in the area.

However, he admitted that in this particular incident, the police blatantly violated the SOPs and raided the house without getting permission from the Nawab Town SHO, resulting in death of the youth.

Saddar Division SP Ahsan Saifullah also confirmed to Dawn that the raiding team violated the SOPs. However, he said, the police personnel were nominated in the FIR for not taking permission from the SHO before raiding the “gambling den”.

To a question, he said, according to the raiding team, the deceased boy suffered head injuries when he tried to flee. The SP denied torture allegations leveled against his subordinates. He claimed the postmortem report also endorsed the version of the policemen.

Ashfaq might have been died of cardiac arrest, the SP said, adding that samples of various parts of the dead body had been dispatched for lab analysis to further confirm the cause of death.
In the end, it's always cardiac arrest, isn't it?
Meanwhile, the chief minister has sought report from the IGP.

Chicagoland mall ‘terrorist’ did obsessive research before attack: prosecutors
[NYPOST] The driver of an SUV that plowed through a reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
land mall obsessively researched the center online prior to the mayhem that sparked more than 100 terrified calls to 911, prosecutors said.

Javier Garcia, 22, has been charged with terrorism and held without bond for the Sept. 20 carnage that was caught on a now-viral video viewed more than 10 million times.

In the day before his attack, Garcia conducted 124 internet searches on Woodfield Mall in suburban Schaumburg, including the stores inside and street and aerial views, prosecutors said in Leighton Criminal Court on Sunday.

The bipolar suspect also searched a former teacher at least 21 times, although no further explanation was given in court, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Garcia had smashed his black Chevrolet Trailblazer through double doors into a Sears ‐ prompting more than 100 calls to 911, according to the reports.

"The shattering of the glass sounded like multiple gunshots, causing patrons to initially believe that there was an active shooter in the mall," Assistant State’s Attorney Annalee McGlone told the court. "Hysterical patrons were running and jumping in attempts to evade the vehicle’s path. Stores were locking their gates and sheltering people in the rear of stores for safety purposes."

The SUV narrowly missed a train transporting young children through the mall before finally becoming wedged between support columns, prosecutors said, with two off-duty cops finally yanking Garcia from the car.

Garcia had driven more than halfway through the mall, but luckily no one was hit, the court heard. The damage was estimated to be more than $110,000.

Under Illinois law, the Class X felony of terrorism can apply if the suspect caused more than $100,000 in damage to any building containing five or more businesses, according to Schaumburg police.

Garcia, who also was charged with damaging property in excess of $100,000, faces a possible sentence of 20 years to life, according to the reports.

Cook County Judge Mary Marubio denied bail requests, calling Garcia a "danger to the community," the Chicago Sun-Times said.

Outside court, Garcia’s attorney, Amil Alkass, called the terrorism charge "a little aggressive" and told the court that his client is being treated for bipolar disorder and paranoid schizophrenia.

"He’s definitely not a terrorist," Alkass told the Chicago Sun-Times. "There was nobody targeted."

FBI arrests California man for delivering US secrets to China
[DW] A Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, tour guide has been charged with delivering classified information to China. FBI Director Christopher Wray says the country poses a more serious intelligence threat to the US than any other ‐ even Russia.

US prosecutors have accused a tour guide of picking up US security secrets and delivering them cloak-and-dagger-style to Beijing. Attorney David L. Anderson said prosecutors did not know how long the suspect, 56-year-old Xuehua Peng, also known as Edward, had operated as a spy for China's State Security Ministry.

From October 2015 to July 2018,
...starting on President Obama’s watch, we note...
an FBI double agent conducted "dead drops," in which, authorities say, Peng fetched information in the the Socialist paradise of San Francisco
...where God struck dead Anton LaVey, home of the Sydney Ducks, ruled by Vigilance Committee from 1859 through 1867, reliably and volubly Democrat since 1964...
Bay Area and Columbus, Georgia. Authorities say the double agent, identified only as "the Source," went to the FBI in 2015, after the State Security Ministry tried to recruit him as a spy by telling him that he could rely on "Ed," who had family and business dealings in China.

An officer told the Source that the ministry controlled "everything" about Ed's company and would "cut him off" if he misbehaved. Records list Peng as the president of US Tour and Travel in San Francisco, but news agency news hounds could not turn up a website for the company in an online search engine.

EVENTS IN CONTEXT
On six occasions, Peng left up to $20,000 (about €18,000) taped in envelopes in hotel drawers, authorities said. The double agent would take the cash and leave an SD card, which Peng would bring to Beijing.

Police arrested Peng at home Friday. US Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero ordered him held without bond. He is scheduled to return to court Wednesday and be represented by a federal public defender. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 (€230,000) fine.

As officials grapple with the threat of infiltrators trying to steal information from US companies, prosecutors have opened multiple cases against people suspected of spying for China. Last October, prosecutors charged a spy with attempting to steal trade secrets from several US aviation and aerospace companies. In July, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before a Senate panel that the FBI had more than 1,000 investigations involving economic espionage and attempted intellectual property theft ‐ nearly all of which lead back to China.

John Bennett, the FBI agent in charge of San Francisco, said politics ‐ namely, the US trade war with China under the current president, Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
‐ had nothing to do with the charges against Peng. "We have criminal spies that are running around in our area of responsibility, and it's the FBI's mission to stop this," he said late Monday. "What's going on in the rest of the world, it doesn't matter to us."
Ynet adds:
A naturalized U.S. citizen working as a tour guide in the San Francisco area was charged on Monday with working as an agent of the Chinese government, providing officials there with classified material about U.S. national security, court documents show.

Xuehua Peng, also known as Edward Peng, was taken into custody on Friday in Hayward, California, and was denied bail during an initial court appearance, federal prosecutors said at a Monday morning news conference.

Peng was charged in a 22-page criminal complaint made public on Monday with acting as an agent of the People's Republic of China between 2015 and June 2018.

The criminal complaint accused Peng of being a "courier" for China, flying from his home in the San Francisco area to pick up packages for that government and delivering them to China.

The centerpiece of our foreign policy for nearly three decades has been to build up this nation's power and wealth, and to join our economy tightly with theirs.

Insane.
Criminal.
