Somali Migrants Die of Hunger En Route to French Island - UN
[Garowe] Dozens of Somali immigrants colonists who died in Madagascar may have lacked food and water, the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
Immigration team (IOM) has said, ruling out claims that all victims passed away after their boats capsized deep in the Indian Ocean.

IOM regional director for East, Horn, and Southern Africa Frantz Celestin, told VOA the information is "somewhat murky at the moment" and Malagasy authorities are trying to piece things together.

"On November 2nd, and this is according to the survivors, two boats left the coast of Somalia and towards Madagascar. But we believe that their final destination was Mayotte, I think that French island," he said.

"They encountered some issues and they were effectively, I think, lost that sea. And then their boat finally failed off the coast of Madagascar." According to him, the tragedy "beset" the migrants colonists even before they reached the shores.

"Apparently in the first boat. And this is what I'm getting from my colleagues who have spoken to some of the survivors. In the first boat, one particular two people unfortunately perished and had to be thrown overboard. And then the other boat, the second boat, the same thing happened that involved 10 people. And then once they arrived in Madagascar, there were 48 survivors," he said.

When asked about the cause of the death of those who died in the boats, Celestin said "They died of hunger."

" According to the survivors, they died because of lack of food and water. And some of the bodies were beginning to decompose....so they decided to throw them overboard, but by the time they did, they had already gone because of hunger and thirst."

"During the journey, they ran out of fuel and were forced to remove the engines to lighten the load and row manually. Eventually, due to exhaustion, they let the boats drift with the wind," he said while disputing claims that the boats capsized.

Celestin said the boat eventually failed on the northwest coast of Madagascar, where additional people either died or went missing. "We've activated what we call our humanitarian assistant mechanism to bring them," he said.

Plans are underway to repatriate those who survived the tragedy, with at least 24 believed to have died. Somalia officials said the boats capsized off the coast of Madagascar with at least 70 people believed to have been on the journey for 'greener pastures'.

Somalia Foreign Minister Ahmed Moallim Fiqi told state media that Madagascar officials informed them on November 23 about the tragic incident that occurred off the Island of Madagascar.

"One of those boats was carrying 38 people most of them believed to be Somalis; while the other one was carrying 32 people most of them believed to be Somalis," Fiqi said.

Jubbaland Dervish Commander Survives Al-Shabaab Mine Attack in Somali Border Area
[ShabelleMedia] Abbas Ibrahim Gurey, the commander of Jubbaland’s Dervish forces, survived an liquidation attempt on Monday when a landmine detonated near the Somali-Kenyan border, according to local reports.

The explosion, which occurred in the Gedo region, caused significant damage to Gurey’s vehicle but left him and his lover companions unharmed. Gurey, who heads the local security forces in this volatile part of southern Somalia, directly blamed the attack on al-Shabaab
... the personification of Somali state failure...
, the holy warrior group affiliated with al-Qaeda. "Al-Shabaab was behind this attempt to kill me, but God saved me," Gurey stated in an interview with local media, expressing his relief and gratitude.

The incident underscores the persistent threat from al-Shabaab in the Gedo region, where the group has been known to carry out frequent attacks against government officials and security forces. The area’s proximity to the Kenyan border makes it a strategic target for al-Shabaab, aiming to destabilize the local administration and disrupt cross-border security cooperation.

Security has been a major concern in Gedo, with the region witnessing numerous violent mostly peaceful incidents. In a particularly tragic example, Abdirahman Abdullahi, known as Bakal Kooke, who was the regional commander for Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), was killed by a landmine in December 2022, in what was one of several deadly attacks targeting local officials.

This latest attack on Gurey reflects the ongoing challenges faced by Somali security forces in maintaining control over regions like Gedo, where al-Shabaab maintains a significant presence despite concerted efforts by the Somali government and international partners to dismantle their operations. The attack also highlights the holy warriors’ continued ability to execute sophisticated operations, including the use of improvised bombs (IEDs) in areas thought to be under secure control.

Local forces are now likely to intensify efforts to secure the border areas, enhance intelligence gathering, and possibly launch counter-offensives to prevent further incursions by al-Shabaab holy warriors. Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, Gloria slowly backed away from the eight-foot bull frog. If the creature croaked she would surely be deafened...
the survival of Gurey could serve as a morale boost for the Dervish forces, reinforcing their resolve in the fight against the holy warriors.

Report: US ‘side letter’ to Israel pledges to share intelligence on Hezbollah activity after ceasefire, cooperate against Iranian threat
[IsraelTimes] Israel’s Channel 12 news outlet shares details from a side letter that it says the US is providing to Israel as part of the Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire deal, in which it affirms and details Israel’s right to defend itself against renewed threats from the Iran-backed terror group in Lebanon.

According to the report, the US will commit to providing Israel with intelligence information pertaining to violations of the terms of the ceasefire deal, and in particular, regarding any indication that Hezbollah is attempting to infiltrate the ranks of the Lebanese Armed Forces, which will be deployed to southern Lebanon.

The letter also reiterates the US’s commitment to cooperating with Israel to prevent Iran from continuing its destabilizing operations in Lebanon, including the smuggling of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah, the report adds.

The US also confirms in the letter that Israel has the right to act in response to threats from inside Lebanon, “in accordance with international law,” Channel 12 reports.

Regarding the possibility that Hezbollah will violate the terms of the ceasefire, the letter is reported to note that should the terms of the agreement be broken in southern Lebanon, from which Hezbollah is required to withdraw, Israel will reserve the right to act at any time.

Beyond southern Lebanon, it will reportedly only be permitted to act in response to Hezbollah violating the ceasefire if the Lebanese Armed Forces are unable or unwilling to deal with the violations itself.

Should Israel feel it is required to take action in response to threats inside Lebanon, regardless of where, it will be required to notify the United States wherever possible, Channel 12 says the letter adds.

Finally, the report says, the letter confirms Israel’s right to conduct reconnaissance flights over Lebanon, for intelligence purposes, so long as they do not break the sound barrier.

Iraq
Iraqi security forces arrest 3 suspected ISIS members in Nineveh
[Rudaw] Iraqi security forces on Monday announced the arrest of three suspected Islamic State (ISIS) members in the northwestern Nineveh province.

The military intelligence directorate of the Iraqi security forces said in a statement that they carried out two separate anti-ISIS operations in Nineveh province.

“These operations led to the arrest of three terrorists wanted by the Iraqi… in the towns of Zummar and Rabia, west of Nineveh province. The detainees were identified as members of the terrorist organization ISIS and were handed over to the relevant authorities in accordance with proper procedures,” read the statement from the security forces.

Iraqi officials have said that the threat from the terror group is contained, but the armed forces continue to carry out regular operations against suspected militants.

On Saturday, Iraqi army announced that its fighter jets killed five suspected ISIS members in a strike on the group’s hideout in Kirkuk province.

Last week, ISIS planted an improvised explosive device on a road in the Tuz Khurmatu district of Salahaddin province that exploded, killing three members of a joint Kurdish-Iraqi brigade.

Syrian Red Crescent says volunteer 6 killed in alleged Israeli airstrike on border with Lebanon
[IsraelTimes] Syria’s Red Crescent says that a volunteer was killed and another was injured in alleged Israeli airstrikes on two locations along the Lebanon-Syria border on Tuesday night.

The medical organization says the volunteers were “performing their humanitarian duty of rescuing the wounded early on Wednesday.”

The reported strike is said by the Syrian Red Crescent to have damaged several ambulance and work points.

According to Syrian state media, some 18 people were injured in the strike on the Arida border crossing, while an unspecified number of casualties were reported in the alleged Israeli strike on the Dabousieh border crossing with Lebanon.

There is no immediate comment from the IDF.

Syria raises death toll to 6 in alleged Israeli strikes on border crossings

[IsraelTimes] Damascus has upped the death toll to six in alleged Israeli strikes on Syrian border crossings with Lebanon which took place just after a ceasefire with Hezbollah was announced late Tuesday.

Syria’s state news agency reported four civilians and two soldiers were killed, and 12 people were wounded including children, women and Syrian Red Crescent workers.

Israel has not commented on the strikes, but has indicated it will keep up efforts against attempts to smuggle arms to Hezbollah via Syria even after the ceasefire takes effect.
Update from Rudaw at 10:40 a.m. ET:
“At 05:00 after midnight, the Israeli enemy launched an air attack from the direction of Lebanese territory, targeting the border crossings between Syria and Lebanon in the western countryside of Homs,” Syria’s state-run SANA news agency said, citing a military source.

Israel has carried out 157 strikes on Syrian territory since the beginning of the year, killing 284 combatants and wounding 245 more, according to data from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor. The strikes have also killed 55 civilians.

Hudna: Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire comes into effect, halting nearly 14 months of fighting
[IsraelTimes] Streams of cars seen heading toward southern Lebanon even as IDF warns civilians to not yet return to villages; IDF strikes in Beirut continue until hour before start of truce

A ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
came into effect at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, bringing an end to almost 14 months of Hezbollah-initiated fighting across the northern border, which began the day after the October 7, 2023 Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
terror onslaught in southern Israel.

The agreement, which Israel’s national security cabinet approved in a vote of 10 ministers to one on Tuesday night, will reportedly provide for a 60-day transition period, during which the IDF will withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, while the Lebanese Army will deploy some 5,000 troops south of the Litani river, including at 33 posts along the border with Israel.

Hezbollah forces will leave southern Lebanon, and its military infrastructure will be dismantled. The US has also reportedly provided a side letter specifying Israel’s rights to respond to violations of the ceasefire, should there be any.

A copy of the ceasefire deal was not published before it came into effect.

While Hezbollah has said that it accepts the ceasefire proposal, a bigwig with the terror group said Tuesday that it had yet to see the agreement in its final form.

"After reviewing the agreement signed by the enemy government, we will see if there is a match between what we stated and what was agreed upon by the Lebanese officials," Mahmoud Qamati, deputy chair of Hezbollah’s political council, told the Al Jazeera news network.

"We want an end to the aggression, of course, but not at the expense of the illusory sovereignty of the state." of Lebanon, he said. "Any violation of illusory sovereignty is refused."

Nevertheless, the ceasefire appeared to hold early Wednesday morning, with signs of celebration in Beirut, a day after Israel carried out its most intense wave of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s in the Lebanese capital since the start of the fighting.

As the ceasefire came into effect, Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, warned Lebanese civilians to not yet return to villages in southern Lebanon.

"With the ceasefire agreement coming into effect, and in accordance with its provisions, the IDF continues to be prepared in its positions in southern Lebanon," Adraee said. "Do not move towards the villages that the IDF evacuated or towards IDF forces in the area. For your protection and the safety of your families, avoid reaching the area."

He added that the IDF would inform them "of the safe date to return to your homes."

Nevertheless, Rooters reported that streams of cars carrying people displaced by the months of fighting were seen heading south, just over an hour after the ceasefire took effect.

Bursts of gunfire could be heard across Beirut after the ceasefire took effect, although it was not immediately clear if the shooting was celebratory, as gunfire has also been used in recent weeks to alert residents who may have missed Israeli evacuation warnings.

Both Israel and Hezbollah continued fighting in the hours leading up to the ceasefire, and earlier on Tuesday, the IDF said it had struck 20 sites within two minutes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, after issuing evacuation warnings.

Seven buildings targeted in the strikes were used by Hezbollah for the management and storage of funds, the IDF said, including headquarters, vaults and branches of the al-Qard al-Hasan association, known to be used by the terror group as a quasi-bank.

The other 13 sites included a Hezbollah aerial forces center, an intelligence division command room, weapon depots, and other military infrastructure, the IDF said.

Hezbollah too, continued to launch rockets and drones at Israel in the hours leading up to the ceasefire, setting off alarms across central and northern Israel.

Long-range rocket fire at around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday set off alerts in Pardes Hanna, Hadera, Harish and several nearby towns, as well as communities close to the Lebanon border. The IDF said a short while later that air defenses had successfully downed three missiles. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the missile fire.

Meanwhile,
...back at the fist fight, Jake ducked another roundhouse, then parried with his left, then with his right, finally with his chin...
the IDF continued to issue evacuation warnings for additional buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs ahead of airstrikes against Hezbollah assets, and air strikes were reported in the capital less than an hour before the truce came into force.

At the same time, the Syrian Red Islamic Thingy reported that a volunteer had been killed and another had been injured in alleged Israeli strikes on the Lebanon-Syria border.

According to Syria’s state news agency SANA, Israeli warplanes had hit the Arida and Dabousiya border crossings with Lebanon, in the Tartus Governorate.

Some 18 people were maimed in the strike on the Arida border crossing, SANA reported, and an unspecified number of people were maimed at the Dabousiya crossing, as well.

In a statement, the Red Islamic Thingy said that its volunteers had been "performing their humanitarian duty of rescuing the maimed early on Wednesday" when the strikes were launched.

The strikes were said by the medical organization to have damaged several ambulances and work points.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF regarding the reports.

Yes Iran didn't sign. Neither did Hezbollah.

What I think will matter a lot is the intra Shiite conversations. A lot of Shiites hate Hezbollah for a number of reasons (extortion of businesses, getting their kids killed, etc.) but have been silenced by Hezbollah's prestige and goons. Not sure if the south of the Litani population will now be 'bye Hezbollah, don't come back' or not.

US official clarifies Turkey not considered a mediator in Gaza truce efforts after Hamas leaders’ relocation
[IsraelTimes] A senior US official clarifies that the Biden administration does not view Turkey as a new mediator between Israel and Hamas after US President Joe Biden earlier today named Ankara along with Qatar and Egypt as countries that will be renewing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza now that one has been reached in Lebanon.

“What the President meant is that, we have certain individuals and parties are now spending time in Turkey, and so [Turkey] was added. But it was not to suggest that they are a broker or a negotiator. It’s to say that we will leave no stone unturned in trying to do this,” says a senior US official briefing reporters.

The US revealed earlier this month that it had asked Qatar to oust Hamas leaders from the country due to the terror group’s extended refusal to engage in hostage negotiations. Those Hamas officials then moved to Turkey. While the US has cautioned Ankara against hosting Hamas leaders, it has stopped short of requesting the extradition of Khaled Meshaal, who is under US indictment.

Arab officials speaking to The Times of Israel last week called into question the decision to oust Hamas from Qatar if negotiations were just going to continue under largely the same format in Ankara.

The senior US official briefing reporters maintains that Hamas’s realization following today’s news that “Hezbollah has decided to abandon them and delink the two conflicts” amounts to a powerful change of reality on the ground, and we have to see if that’s enough” to spark a breakthrough in hostage talks.

Pentagon mum after Musk calls its most expensive project 'obsolete'
[JustTheNews] In May, The U.S. Government Accountability Office found the cost of the Pentagon's most expensive weapon system was projected to increase by more than 40% despite plans to use the stealth fighter less, in part because of reliability issues.

Pentagon officials declined to comment on Elon Musk's critical assessment of its most expensive project, the F-35 stealth fighter.

Tesla CEO and SpaceX leader Elon Musk called the Pentagon's stealth fighter "obsolete."

"The F-35 design was broken at the requirements level, because it was required to be too many things to too many people," Musk wrote on X. "This made it an expensive & complex jack of all trades, master of none. Success was never in the set of possible outcomes. And manned fighter jets are obsolete in the age of drones anyway. Will just get pilots killed."

In May, The U.S. Government Accountability Office found the cost of the Pentagon's most expensive weapon system was projected to increase by more than 40% despite plans to use the stealth fighter less, in part because of reliability issues.

The U.S. Department of Defense's F-35 Lightning II is the most advanced and costly weapon system in the U.S. arsenal. It's a joint, multinational program that includes the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, seven international partners and foreign military sales customers.

The Pentagon has about 630 F-35s. It plans to buy about 1,800 more. And it intends to use them through 2088. DOD estimates the F-35 program will cost over $2 trillion to buy, operate, and sustain over its lifetime.

On Tuesday, a reporter asked Defense Department Press Secretary Air Force Major General Pat Ryder about Musk's comments on the F-35.

"Yeah, as I'm sure you can appreciate, Mr. Musk is, currently, a private citizen, I'm not going to make any comments about what a private citizen may have to say about the F-35."

The GAO report found the F-35 program fell short of its goals.

"The F-35 fleet is not meeting most of its performance goals, including those for availability and for reliability and maintainability, according to DOD and contractor data," according to the report. "We have consistently found that the F-35 fleet is not meeting its availability goals, which are measured by mission capable rates despite increasing projected costs."

President-elect Donald Trump recently picked Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy leaders of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

Trump said the new group will allow his administration to "dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulation, cut wasteful expenditures and restructure federal agencies."

Ramaswamy and Musk detailed some of their plans for DOGE last week. Those plans include a focus on military spending after the Pentagon failed another audit.

"The Pentagon recently failed its seventh consecutive audit, suggesting that the agency's leadership has little idea how its annual budget of more than $800 billion is spent," they wrote in an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal.

The U.S. Department of Defense's annual audit once again resulted in a disclaimer opinion. That means the federal government's largest agency — with a budget of more than $840 billion — can't fully explain its spending. The disclaimer this year was expected. And it's expected again next year. The Pentagon previously said it will be able to accurately account for its spending by 2027.

#1  In Augustine's Laws it was projected that one day the Pentagon will have such an expensive aircraft that it could only afford one. At which time the Navy and Air Force will use it on alternating date, with the Marine Corps getting it on Leap Day.

#2  "The F-35 design was broken at the requirements level, because it was required to be too many things to too many people,"

The art of design is knowing what to leave out, not what to put in. As I understand, the problem with the current F-35 is heat - all those fancy avionics are hot. As originally specified, the plane had sufficient cooling. But as with all things designed by committee, feature creep set in. More features, more electronics, more heat. Unfortunately, adding a radiator to a stealth fighter is a greater challenge than squeezing in yet another box of avionics.

For an amusing take on feature creep, watch "The Pentagon Wars" - a comedic version of how the Bradley Fighting Vehicle came to be what it is today versus how it started life as a light cavalry scout vehicle.

#3  During manufacturing of the F-35 skins, the L-M requirements were far in excess of anything my former company ever experienced; some good, some not so much. Having to use a L-M mandated cheesecloth for wiping down w/solvent, costing over 2X the amount of “ACME” cheesecloth is just one example.

#4  I think the plan for the F/A-XX, which would be a 6th generation fighter/bomber will sacrifice speed.

The theory is, IIUC, that if the enemy can't see you, well you don't need to be that fast.

This should, in theory, allow a less expensive product to be developed.

Former FBI informant at center of Biden impeachment inquiry indicted on tax charges
[JustTheNews] The new indictment, which was unsealed on Tuesday and brought by a California grand jury, accused Smirnov of concealing more than $2 million between 2020 and 2022, which allegedly came from multiple sources.

Former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov, whose testimony contributed to the House GOP's impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden, has been indicted on multiple tax charges.

Smirnov has now been indicted on 10 separate tax-related charges, according to NBC News. He was also charged in February with lying to the FBI about the Biden family's involvement with Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy firm at the center of an alleged bribery scheme.

The new indictment, which was unsealed on Tuesday and brought by a California grand jury, accused Smirnov of concealing more than $2 million between 2020 and 2022, which allegedly came from multiple sources. He has been charged with tax evasion, and filing false tax returns, per ABC News.

Smirnov allegedly used the secret funds to pay for “a $1.4 million Las Vegas condominium, a Bentley, and hundreds of thousands of dollars of clothes, jewelry and accessories for himself and [a] Domestic Partner purchased at high-end retailers in Los Angeles and Las Vegas," the indictment reads.

Smirnov's attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said their client intends to fight the new allegations "with the same intensity as he has fought the original indictment.”

The former informant, who had been a confidential human source for the FBI since 2010, has pleaded not guilty to all charges so far. He is expected to stand trial in his statements case on January 8, 2025.

Speaker rebukes Biden's handling of Israeli war, says ceasefire was 'despite' WH not 'because of it'
[JustTheNews] Johnson chastised the current administration's response to the war, which he claimed included withholding weapons to Israel that was necessary to defeat the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah.

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday condemned President Joe Biden's handling of the war in Israel, stating that the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah was "despite" the White House and "not because of it."

Biden announced on Tuesday that the ceasefire agreement, which was facilitated by the United States and France, would take effect early Wednesday. The ceasefire gives Israel 60 days to pull its forces out of Lebanon, which will occur gradually to give Lebanese forces time to mobilize and move in to the area.

Johnson chastised the current administration's response to the war, which he claimed included withholding weapons to Israel that were necessary to defeat the terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. Hamas started the war last year after invading Israel.

"While the Biden-Harris Administration celebrates this announcement, remember that it is STILL withholding weapons to Israel," Johnson posted to X. "This Administration put up roadblock after roadblock on Israel and dragged out this conflict. They repeatedly appeased Iran rather than show unequivocal support to our closest ally in the region.

"Israel’s military success has been in spite of the White House, not because of it," he continued. "We always hope for peace in the region, and still do during this 60-day ceasefire. But it is President Trump’s Administration that will pave the way to lasting peace, because peace only comes through STRENGTH."

The goal of the ceasefire agreement is to permanently end the war in Israel, the president said. While Israel will slowly pull its forces from Lebanon, Hezbollah is expected to pull its forces and heavy weapons to the Litani River, located about 20 miles away from the Israeli border.

very doubtful the Lebanese Army can do the job they are now assigned

there are a lot of Hezbollah forces which can fire rockets from sites north of the Litani

Hezbollah troops may simply embed in the south of Litani villages

IRS may lose $20 billion in funding without congressional action, Treasury officials warn
[JustTheNews] ”If they don’t get that $20 billion that is at risk they would run out of enforcement money at the current pace sometime in fiscal year 2025,” Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo said.

Treasury Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo said Tuesday that the national deficit would increase by $140 billion if another $20 billion is taken from the IRS budget. He also said the agency would have to go on a hiring freeze and there would be 2,000 fewer audits of large corporations, as well as 6,000 fewer audits of wealthy individuals.
Some dirt poor individuals would be happier without their annual audit.

Kai Trump Posts Behind-the-Scenes Video from SpaceX Rocket Launch
[Breitbart] President-elect Donald Trump’s granddaughter Kai Trump posted a behind-the-scenes video of Elon Musk’s SpaceX’s recent Starship rocket launch in Texas.

In a video posted to X, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. posted a video of herself traveling to the rocket launch on a private jet with a friend and at the rocket launch where her grandfather, father, and Musk could be seen in the video.

“It only comes back to land if everything is, like, super green,” Musk can be heard explaining to Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) after the rocket launched. “And then we had some concerns about the tower, so it was commanded to land out in sea.”

“Amazing. Can they use that again?” Trump asked. “Can they get it from the sea?”

“It’s going to be … probably blow up,” Musk answered. “It’s probably going to blow up is my guess. But, that’s fine. We actually have better versions that are in production in those factories over there.”

When asked how long it would take “to produce another” rocket, Musk responded that they “already have the next one” and added that it was “better” than the one that had just been launched.

“So, what makes it better?” Cruz asked.

“The specific next one we have has a lot of small improvements,” Musk answered. “There’s a big version increase that’ll be flying next year. That’s got the version three of our engines — that’ll look very different. It will be longer and have a lot more thrust and have the new generation engines.”

Musk’s Starship, which is reported to be 400 feet tall and “designed to land astronauts on the moon and ferry crews to Mars,” took off around 4:00 p.m. last Tuesday, according to Reuters.

According to the outlet, the “first stage booster” part of the rocket, called Super Heavy, went on to detach from the rocket’s second stage, “Starship.”

The first stage booster was reported to have “unexpectedly splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico” instead of falling into the “large mechanical arms” on the tower from where it launched, according to the outlet.

“If it doesn’t blow up, we do have ships to try to bring it back,” Musk added. “And then we can inspect it to learn more.”

Musk added that this rocket was “about just learning.”

Europe
Germany to Rediscover How Many Bomb Shelters it Has
[Breitbart] Germany is working on a ‘bunker plan’ including a smartphone app to direct citizens to the nearest shelter in case of an emergency, a report claims, after Russian President Putin said he reserved the right to bomb the allies of Ukraine.

The Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz und Katastrophenhilfe — it really rolls off the tongue — better known as the BKK or the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance has embarked on a project to figure out where the country’s remaining bomb shelters are and how many are still fit for use. As well as now long-neglected facilities designed for the purpose officials will also be looking at the potential to convert subway stations, government buildings, and even private basements, a report in newspaper Bild asserts.

German broadcaster ZDF interprets the revelation of what is called the “bunker plan” as being part of the nation’s response to Russia bombing Ukrainian city Dnipro with an unarmed nuclear-capable ballistic missile last week. The weapon was a new design, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed, asserting it is both ‘hypersonic’ and impervious to countermeasures, its launch seen as a clear message to Ukraine’s backers.

President Putin spoke shortly after the launch, where he said the launch had been “in response to the use of American and British long-range weapons”. Chillingly, in a message to NATO states which have supplied Ukraine with long range precision strike weapons being used to hit military targets inside Russia itself, Putin said: “We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against the military facilities of those countries that allow their weapons to be used against our facilities.”

At the end of the Cold War Germany has 2,000 public shelters, it is reported, but with the fall of the Soviet Union the need for such facilities was seen to have passed and the funding stopped. Years later many had fallen into disrepair and a sell-off began in the early 2000s, with many becoming private residences, places of business, art galleries, tourist attractions, even hotels and musroom farms.

The sell-off continued until 2022, when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began again and disposals were suspended. Today the Federal government owns just 579 shelters with spaces for 480,000, the Federal Interior Ministry says.

The BKK is now, it is reported, discovering how many of the old shelters still exist in serviceable condition and which could be pressed back into service in a crisis, and how many other new spaces could be converted if need be. The work will doubtless have learnt much from the Ukrainian experience, where many shelters from the relentless Russian air raids that exist now have been established in converted spaces meant for other purposes.

The national survey will assess the structural condition of locations including their doors and ventilation systems. Private and public property including underground garages, subway stations, government buildings, and basements are to be surveyed in what has been called a “major project” that is expected to take a considerable period of time to complete.

As for the public, there is apparently an expectation in the yet to be officially announced initiative on them to make preparations, too. As stated in the Bild report, the public are expected to do something with their own basement spaces and not necessarily wait for the government to act. As part of the project, there is to be a mobile phone app that directs users to their nearest bomb shelter in a crisis: this too is Ukraine-inspired, where such an app is already in daily use.

While the nationwide survey is apparently to assess what is available and what is possible for the future, there is reportedly no plans by the German government to actually supply any new shelter spaces or bunkers. ZDF cites Berlin’s position from this summer that “Centrally located public shelters for several hundred or thousand people are not an appropriate protective measure against modern precision weapons that specifically destroy individual war-relevant objects and for which there is only a few minutes’ warning time before an attack.”

It is not clear to what degree this decades-old conventional view on the future of warfare has actually been vindicated by the real experience of the Ukraine war, however, where relatively unsophisticated mass strikes by artillery and bomb drones have struck pretty indiscriminately at Ukrainian cities. In many areas, nearly as much damage has been caused by falling wreckage from downed weapons as by the strikes themselves, again counting against the precision warfare concept.

Indeed, the lack of provision of bomb shelter places across Ukraine in the early months of the invasion became a major scandal in Ukraine as people were killed after being unable to reach a bunker in time, or because what was available locally when the war broke out wasn’t actually bomb-proof at all.

In Germany, some bunkers are already well known. Beyond the colossal remnants of Nazi Germany’s defensive structures built in the Second World War, some of which were simply too large to demolish, the country also has many Cold War era bunkers. One is at Pankstrasse U-Bahn station on Berlin’s underground train network, which when built new in 1977 also incorporated a bunker by a design to one of the BBK’s predecessor agencies to shelter over 3,000 people in case of war.

Not all regions have provision, however. Germany’s Welt reports the Federal state of Saxony-Anhalt in eastern Germany — part of the region of the country that would be most at threat should the much-discussed escalation of the Ukraine War reach catastrophic levels — doesn’t have a single public bomb shelter.

Other countries closer to the Ukraine War than even Germany have been somewhat more proactive, and not even necessarily against Russia consciously trying to attack NATO territory but because sometimes missiles over-shoot. Poland has seen several ‘lost’ munitions fired by both Ukraine and Russia end up in their territory, and several villages in Romania on the border with Ukraine have received new bomb shelters to protect them from “falling objects from the surrounding airspace”.

Vietnam death row tycoon who embezzled US$27b, begs court for life
[CNA] HO CHI MINH CITY: A Vietnamese property tycoon sentenced to death for multi-billion-dollar fraud begged a court to spare her life on Tuesday (Nov 26), saying she was trying to repay the stolen funds.
"I got a side job. I'll pay it back in....4,598 years!"
Property developer Truong My Lan, 68, was convicted earlier this year of embezzling money from Saigon Commercial Bank (SCB) - which prosecutors said she controlled - and condemned to die for fraud totalling US$27 billion in one of the biggest corruption cases in history.

She is appealing against her sentence at a court in Ho Chi Minh City, with the ruling expected in the coming days.

In her final remarks before the court, Lan said: "My only thought is on how to repay the debt to the SBV (State Bank of Vietnam) and the people. I don't think about the damage to myself and my family.

"I feel pained due to the waste of national resources," Lan said, adding she felt "very embarrassed to be charged with this crime".

"Please reconsider and reduce my sentence," she asked the court.

Walmart likely to raise prices if Trump enforces tariffs, CFO says
[Washington Examiner] Walmart has signaled price hikes should be expected if President-elect Donald Trump makes good on his plan to implement a broad tariff regime.

The retailer’s CFO John David Rainey said the company would likely have to raise its prices, which is against its model and wishes.

"We never want to raise prices," he told CNBC. "Our model is everyday low prices. But there probably will be cases where prices will go up for consumers."
"More expensive cheap Chinese crap you don't need"
Rainey added that it’s too early to determine which products could cost more due to the tariffs.

Kiev has ‘no chance' of retaking lost territories ‐ Blackwater founder
[TASS] Erik Prince noted that it was necessary to end the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible

Ukraine is unable to reclaim its lost territory in the country’s east, Erik Prince, the founder and former CEO of private military company Blackwater, said.

"There's no chance that Ukraine is going to retake its lands—the Donetsk, Lugansk, the areas in the east, certainly not Crimea," he said in an interview with Fox News, noting that it is necessary to end the Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible.

"It needs to de-escalate and be done," the Blackwater founder stressed. He expressed hope that US President-elect Donald Trump "can get on it, literally from day one."

Prince also said that US President Joe Biden’s decision to allow the use of US missiles for strikes deep into Russia was "grossly irresponsible." Moscow’s response with its latest Oreshnik hypersonic intermediate-range ballistic missile system capable of carrying a nuclear payload demonstrated that "this is not a game that needs to be played any longer."

Russian President Vladimir Putin pointed out on November 21 that US-and UK-made missiles had targeted military facilities in Russia’s borderline Kursk and Bryansk regions following a move by the US and its NATO allies to authorize the use of their long-range weapons for strikes against Russia. According to Putin, in retaliation to the attacks, Russia for the first time used its newest Oreshnik non-nuclear intermediate-range ballistic missiles against Ukraine’s Yuzhmash defense industry facility in the city of Dnepropetrovsk (called Dnepr in Ukraine). The Russian leader emphasized that the West could face dire consequences if its provocative policy escalated the conflict further.

The Trump Effect: Haitian Migrants Self-Deport from Springfield, Ohio
[Breitbart] Haitian migrants are reportedly self-deporting from Springfield, Ohio, and fleeing to sanctuary jurisdictions such as Chicago, Illinois, and New York City, New York.

Springfield, a city of 50,000 that lies between Columbus and Dayton, garnered national attention months ago when President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance noted that the community had been inundated with thousands of Haitian migrants as a result of President Joe Biden’s immigration policies.

Many of the 10,000 to 20,000 Haitian migrants who arrived in Springfield over the last few years are in the United States on Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a quasi-amnesty program. Others were awarded parole after being released into the United States at the southern border.

Mexico suggests it would impose its own tariffs to retaliate against any Trump tariffs
[10News - AyPee via Scripps, so delusionary] I don't think you want to play this game, Bitch
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum suggested Tuesday that Mexico could retaliate if Trump goes forward with a plan to institute blanket tariffs on Mexican goods in the U.S.

President Claudia Sheinbaum suggested Tuesday that Mexico could retaliate with tariffs of its own, after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump threatened to impose 25% import duties on Mexican goods if the country doesn’t stop the flow of drugs and migrants across the border.

Sheinbaum said she was willing to engage in talks on the issues, but said drugs were a U.S. problem.

"One tariff would be followed by another in response, and so on until we put at risk common businesses," Sheinbaum said, referring to U.S. automakers that have plants on both sides of the border.

She said Tuesday that Mexico had done a lot to stem the flow of migrants, noting "caravans of migrants no longer reach the border." However, Mexico's efforts to fight drugs like the deadly synthetic opioid fentanyl — which is manufactured by Mexican cartels using chemicals imported from China — have weakened in the last year.

Sheinbaum said Mexico suffered from an influx of weapons smuggled in from the United States, and said the flow of drugs "is a problem of public health and consumption in your country’s society."

Sheinbaum also criticized U.S. spending on weapons, saying the money should instead be spent regionally to address the problem of migration. "If a percentage of what the United States spends on war were dedicated to peace and development, that would address the underlying causes of migration," she said.

Sheinbaum’s bristly response suggests that Trump faces a much different Mexican president than he did in his first term.

Back in late 2018, former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador was a charismatic, old-school politician who developed a chummy relationship with Trump. The two were eventually able to strike a bargain in which Mexico helped keep migrants away from the border — and received other countries’ deported migrants — and Trump backed down on the threats.

But Sheinbaum, who took office Oct. 1, is a stern Commie leftist ideologue trained in radical student protest movements, and appears less willing to pacify or mollify Trump.

"We negotiate as equals, there is no subordination here, because we are a great nation," Sheinbaum said, while adding, "I think we are going to reach an agreement."

But Gabriela Siller, director of economic analysis of the financial group Banco Base, fears the personality clash could escalate things into brinkmanship; Trump clearly hates to lose.

"Trump may have just tossed the threat out there, as he does," Siller said. "But Mexico's response, that we're going to respond to you with tariffs, that will make Trump really impose them."

It's not clear how serious Trump’s threat is. The U.S.-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement forbids just imposing tariffs on other member countries. And it’s not clear whether the economy could even tolerate sudden levies on imports: Auto plants on both sides of the border rely on each other for parts and components, and some production lines could screech to a halt.

"It is unacceptable and would cause inflation and job losses in Mexico and the United States," Sheinbaum said, while offering to talk about the issues. "If tariffs go up, who will it hurt? General Motors," she said.

"Dialogue is the best path to achieve understanding, peace and prosperity for our two countries," Sheinbaum said. "I hope our teams can meet soon."
Not likely. Just close the border for a bit. See how tough she is

Sharpton's 'pay to play' scandal 'ricocheting around the halls' of MSNBC, insider says: 'Can't be acceptable'
[FoxNews] 'How does this s--- happen?... I think a three-year-old would see a potential conflict in this,' an MSNBC staffer tells Fox News Digital

The growing scandal plaguing MSNBC host Rev. Al Sharpton has been "ricocheting around the halls" of 30 Rock with his colleagues calling it a "bridge too far" for them, Fox News Digital has learned.

On Tuesday, MSNBC said it was "unaware" that Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign paid $500,000 to Sharpton’s National Action Network nonprofit ahead of a friendly interview with the Democratic nominee just weeks before the election.

"MSNBC was unaware of the donations made to the National Action Network," an MSNBC spokesperson told the Washington Free Beacon, which first broke the story.

Harris sat down for a friendly interview on Oct. 20 with Sharpton, an open supporter of Harris and the Democratic Party. Following Harris’ defeat to President-elect Donald Trump, FEC filings revealed the Harris campaign gave two $250,000 donations to Sharpton’s nonprofit organization in September and October. However, the MSNBC weekend host did not disclose to viewers the apparent conflict of interest before or after the interview. Neither did he disclose the donations to his bosses at the network, according to the Free Beacon.

"No one's surprised that anybody at MSNBC was rooting for Harris. This feels like another level of nonsense. Like, you're kidding me, right? This is weird," a current MSNBC employee reacted to Fox News Digital.

"Harris could have given Al Sharpton an interview, and it would have gone the same way," they continued. "But what are you paying for?... There's no way that this can't seem weird."

"Everybody knows who Al Sharpton is… but this feels like a bridge too far. A big bridge too far… This is not landing well," the MSNBC staffer said.
"Everybody knows what Al Sharpton is, and yet MSNBC still employs him"
"This has a bit of a dirty feel to it... These things happen and they don't bounce around MSNBC all that much. Like people just don't care," they continued. "This one feels, I'd say, there's a deeper disappointment. There's a sense of like, 'Ugh, we don't need this. This feels kind of grifty and gross.'"

The insider says everyone at MSNBC knows Sharpton is given a "wide berth" and that he's "not held to the same journalistic standard" as others at MSNBC since he's far more known outside the network for his high-profile political and social activism. That said, the controversy reeks of a "pay-to-play" scheme.

"There is a sense among the people I've spoken to that this feels like something wrong and that something should be done about it," the MSNBC employee said. "I don't know what that something is… That's a lot of money! That's not a small matter… It just doesn't sit well with people."

They, however, cast doubt that Sharpton will face any consequences, telling Fox News Digital "Generally speaking, people do things and they kind of get away with them at MSNBC, I mean, other than in the Me Too era."

"I don't care whether somebody does something to Al. I'm more interested in where does this fit into who we are," the MSNBC insider said. "How does this s--- happen? How does half a million dollars change hands?… How can you possibly think you're holding somebody to account in an interview when they donate money to you? We're told not to take tickets to a ballgame!"

"It's got a real bulls--- feel to it. People who like Al and respect him and understand what his value is… it ranges from disappointment to disgust. Not a whole ton of surprise, I will tell you that," they continued. "There are some organizational rules- I understand he has different rules, but they can't be that, that you donate money and then you get an interview. That can't be acceptable… I think a three-year-old would see a potential conflict in this."

The MSNBC staffer was taken aback by the network being caught flat-footed by the controversy.

"For MSNBC to start by saying they weren't aware of otto start with, like, wow. That's something… Everything about this stinks," they said. "Like, why did the campaign not think that this would come out and be a really bad look for them? I mean, if Kamala Harris had become president, it'd be a scandal!… You're not gonna sway my opinion for tickets to a ballgame but for half a million dollars? You might!"

"That kind of money should not be changing hands to people who are cosplaying being a journalist. Maybe that's not a fair term because I don't know, is he a journalist? I don't know. But that just feels a little bit like pay to play, and it doesn't feel right in an organization that we're all still part of. I understand that not everyone is held to the same standard, but there should be a set of common rules. And my understanding of this is that this would be breaking a rule… it feels like I couldn't get away with that," the employee added.

MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

#4  I am going to defend Kamala on this one. She started at about a 26% approval rating. All she had going for her was $1.4 billion and a partner in leftist media. If she had to rely on actual support it would not be forth coming. All she had was the grifting, bribing and fakery. She outperformed. IMHO

US CENTCOM says it struck ‘Iranian-aligned militia weapons storage’ in Syria
[Rudaw] The United States military announced on Wednesday conducting Arclight airstrike

s on a weapon storage facility belonging to Iran-backed groups in Syria, adding that the attack was in retaliation to a prior attack by the militia groups.

US forces "conducted a strike against an Iranian-aligned militia weapons storage facility in Syria," US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement.

"The strike is in response to an Iranian-aligned attack against U.S. forces in Syria yesterday," it added.

CENTCOM said that the strikes targeted the Iran-backed groups’ weapon storage facilities "to degrade their ability to plan and launch future attacks on U.S. and Coalition forces," as part of the anti-Islamic State

(ISIS) operations in the region.

No details were provided on the precise location of the strikes.

An assessment is underway, according to the statement, to determine details on the extent of damages, adding that they "currently do not assess there were any civilian casualties."

The UK-based war monitor, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), reported on Tuesday that Iran-backed militias fired two rockets at al-Shadadi military base, which houses US troops in Hasaka province.

US aerial defense systems intercepted the two rockets before they could hit their targets, according to SOHR.

Around 2,500 American troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria are leading an international coalition through Operation Inherent Resolve that has assisted Kurdish, Iraqi, and local Syrian forces in the fight against ISIS, which once held swathes of land in Iraq and Syria but was declared devoid of territorial control in 2017 and 2019 respectively.

Attacks on US troops in Iraq and Syria have increased since the Paleostinian Hamas

Britain
US Air Force bases on alert as 60 British troops equipped with long-range anti-drone guns and GPS jammers hunt for drone pilot flying devices over bases
[Daily Mail, where America gets itsnews] Sixty RAF ‘electronic warfare’ specialists have been deployed to protect US-British airbases from possible Russian drone attacks.

The highly trained troops were scrambled to the top secret Lakenheath, Mildenhall and Feltwell sites in East Anglia after the drone sightings on Monday.

They have been ordered to intercept any Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) posing a threat to aircraft or military personnel and to preserve operational security. The deployments follow sightings last week after Vladimir Putin vowed British and US military facilities were valid targets for Kremlin attacks.

The Russian President issued the chilling threat after Ukraine fired UK and US missiles into Russia for the first time. Russia responded to the Storm Shadow and ATACM salvos by firing a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile into Ukraine.

Today, Sir Keir Starmer attended an Armed Forces chiefs stocktake meeting at Downing Street, alongside General Sir Roly Walker, and Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin.

The Mail understands the RAF specialists have been drawn from the service’s 34 Squadron, based at RAF Leeming, in North Yorkshire. These personnel are equipped with thermal-imagining cameras, radio frequency and acoustic sensors, GPS jammers and long-range anti-drone guns.

Last night, US and UK military spokespersons confirmed the joint operation. In a statement, a spokesman for the US Air Forces in Europe, said: ‘We can confirm there were sightings yesterday during night-time hours and can only confirm that the number fluctuated and varied between the bases over the night.

As has been pointed out so many times over the last 20 days. The Liberals & Democrats ran the 2024 Harris campaign the same way they ran the US economy and US Budget these last 4 years.

Screwing over the little people to enrich themselves and other Liberal Elites.

[Korrespondent] 22:20 Russia is using Ukrainian strategic bombers that Kiev transferred to Moscow under a 1999 agreement in exchange for paying off debts for Russian gas consumed, Radio Liberty's Scheme project reports .

19.51 The interdepartmental commission investigating the abnormal operation of 120-mm mines has found that the main causes of the incidents were a drop in temperature and increased humidity. This was reported by Fedir Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

19.02 Western partners are implementing the declared military support packages in a timely manner, but a new push is needed. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in a video address.

18.55 The Ukraine-NATO Council at ambassadorial level discussed the situation in Ukraine following Russia's launch of an experimental medium-range ballistic missile last week.

During the meeting, NATO allies reaffirmed their support for Ukraine. The attack on the Dnieper is seen as another attempt by Russia to terrorize the civilian population of Ukraine and intimidate those who support Ukraine.

18.25 At least two people were killed as a result of a Russian strike on the city of Sumy, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a video address .

17.45 In Norway, the government, after consultations with the opposition, has proposed increasing aid to Ukraine in 2025 to 30 billion Norwegian kroner ($2.7 billion) from 27 billion kroner this year.

16.49 Since the beginning of the current day, 143 combat clashes have occurred in 10 directions. The latest news from the front was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a fresh report.

Acting mayor of Sumy Artem Kobzar noted that the premises of the service station were destroyed, and many vehicles were damaged. The State Emergency Service, representatives of the Red Cross Society and the police are working at the scene.

French teen apologizes at trial for lies that led to her teacher’s beheading
[IsraelTimes] Samuel Paty was murdered in 2020 after teen’s father, Islamist activist spread her lies about the teacher kicking Muslims out of class, showing caricatures of prophet Mohammed

A teenager whose lies about her teacher are accused of contributing to the educator’s murder by an Islamist radical apologized to his family in a French court on Tuesday.

Eight people have been on trial since early November, charged with contributing to the climate of hatred that led to an 18-year-old of Chechen origin beheading teacher Samuel Paty outside Gay Paree in 2020.

They include Brahim Chnina, the 52-year-old Moroccan father of the adolescent testifying Tuesday.

Then aged 13, the adolescent falsely claimed that Paty had asked Moslem students to leave his classroom before showing caricatures of the prophet Mohammed.

She was not in the classroom at the time.

"I would like to apologize to the family," the 17-year-old, who has not been named, told the court. "I destroyed your lives, I am sorry."

Also on trial is Abdelhakim Sefrioui,
… he founded the pro-Hamas Cheikh Yassine Collective in 2004. It was dissolved a few days after Paty’s killing…
a 65-year-old French-Moroccan Islamist activist.

He and Chnina spread the teenager’s lies on social networks with the aim, according to the prosecution, of "designating a target," "provoking a feeling of hatred" and "thus preparing several crimes."

Both men have been in pre-trial detention for the past four years.

The teenager told the court that she lied to her mother to justify why she had been suspended from school for two days over her behavior and repeated absences.

"I was in panic and stress," she said. "I told her I had been in class and that I wasn’t happy with what went on there and that the teacher excluded me. That we looked at cartoons."

’I thought somebody would stop me’

Sefrioui posted a video describing Paty as a "teaching thug."

He also staged an "interview" with the teenager outside the school, whispering to her what to answer. The adolescent dutifully reiterated the falsehoods.

"I thought somebody would stop me in my lying, but nobody ever said that I wasn’t in class," she told the court Tuesday.

She stuck to her story even after Paty’s death. Only following her arrest and 30 hours of interrogation did she admit to Sherlocks that she had made it all up.

The teenager, whose delivery in court was matter-of-fact, showed emotion only when she talked about her father.

"Without my lies, none of us would be here," she said, sobbing. "I used my father’s naivete and kindness."
"And being a violent Islamic Asshole"
She added that "my father says you must always respect teachers," a remark that prompted an astonished "really?" interjected by the court’s presiding judge.

The teenager was sentenced to 18 months of probation in December 2023 after being convicted of slander.

Paty had used the Charlie Hebdo
...Pix/Hebdo2.pngA lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe...
magazine as part of an ethics class to discuss free speech laws in La Belle France, where blasphemy
...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran...
is legal and cartoons mocking religious figures have a long history.

His killing took place just weeks after Charlie Hebdo republished the Prophet Mohammed cartoons.

After the magazine used the images in 2015, Islamist button men stormed its offices, killing 12 people.

Joe Rogan exposes why he will never move to Australia
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] US podcaster Joe Rogan has told his massive audience that he would not move to Australia because the country put people in 'concentration camps' for 'a cold' during the Covid lockdowns.

He also said that kind of repression was only possible because Australia prevented its people having guns.

The remarks came during Rogan's conversation with retired Mixed Martial Arts fighter Royce Gracie as they discussed a perceived reduction in personal freedom in the US amid rising crime.

'I keep telling people if America falls I think the whole world will fall, the rest of the world will fall,' Gracie said.

'Yeah, maybe that's the plan,' responded Rogan, who has over 14.5million followers for his podcasts on Spotify.

'There's no place that has this kind of freedom,' he added as Royce continued to ask 'where would you go'?

Eventually Rogan said he once considered Australia was a viable alternative to the US but his mind had since changed.

NASA staff slam 'woke' DEI policies that cost Americans $22 million a year
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] NASA staff have slammed the space agency for what they have described as a 'DEI takeover' that is compromising the 'real work' done by scientists.

One former employee said that NASA's focus on diversity, equality and inclusion is 'destroying America's ability to compete with China in space because the Biden-Harris administration will only fund programs that feature it.'

Several disgruntled members, speaking on condition of anonymity, blamed 'middle managers' for the 'bulls*** DEI policies.'

'The DEI thing can create an environment where things are not focused and accountability gets diluted,' another NASA employee, who still works at the agency, said.

'Real scientists don't give a hoot about DEI or other hyper-political c***.

'There are good scientists doing real, good work there. [NASA] has become extremely bureaucratic.'

NASA is spending $22.4 million per year on programs that involve inclusive hiring, employee resource groups and environmental justice research.

DailyMail.com uncovered millions of taxpayer dollars were spent on DEI data analytics and to help the agency 'embark on a venture to incorporate and deeply engrain diversity, inclusion, equity and accessibility in the culture and business.'

Syrsky announces a new offensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky told Ukrainian military bloggers that the AFU intends not only to hold the line, but also to counterattack. This was reported by the publication "Strana.ua" with reference to serviceman Kirill Sazonov, who was present at the meeting.
According to his information, Syrsky acknowledged that the situation in the area of Pokrovsk (the Ukrainian name for Krasnoarmeysk) and Kurakhovo is difficult for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, but stated that the situation is supposedly better than a week ago, when the situation was “critical.”

Ukrainian forces have brought in reserves, Sazonov said, citing Syrsky. The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced his intention to counterattack in some areas, the military man added, without specifying which areas he was talking about or when an attempt at an offensive might take place.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier, on November 26, the chairman of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on sovereignty issues, co-chairman of the coordinating council for the integration of new regions, Vladimir Rogov, reported that the Russian Armed Forces are clearing the “fire pocket” in which Ukrainian formations have fallen in the area of the city of Kurakhovo in the DPR.

On October 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian army had already liberated two-thirds of the city of Dzerzhinsk in the DPR. The head of state specified that Russian troops had also advanced 5–6 km near Krasnoarmeysk.

Regnum IA observer Sergei Adamov noted in his article earlier that the Russian army is moving towards the complete liberation of Donbass. The offensive continues in a number of sections of the front throughout the territory of the DPR, with the heaviest fighting taking place north and south of Kurakhovo, the expert noted.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Israel announces preliminary work on fence along entire border with Jordan
[IsraelTimes] Defense Ministry ordered by Katz to begin engineering planning, including environmental survey and installation of surveillance infrastructure, along 309-kilometer border

The Defense Ministry on Tuesday said it had begun carrying out work to establish a fence along the entire border with Jordan to prevent infiltrations into the country — an expensive undertaking that has made little progress in the past.

The move to upgrade defenses along the 309-kilometer (192-mile) border running from Eilat through the West Bank to the tip of the Golan Heights, ordered by new Defense Minister Israel Katz, is the latest attempt by the government to take up the plan, which has long been bandied about but never advanced.

The ministry said Tuesday it was undertaking "detailed engineering planning" for the fence. This planning phase will cost tens of millions of shekels and is expected to last several months.

The work will include mapping out potential environmental hazards, conducting soil surveys, and laying an initial section of the fence with surveillance equipment and networking infrastructure.

The works "are intended to advance the readiness of the defense establishment for the establishment of a barrier on the border with Jordan, in accordance with the decisions of the politicianship on the issue," the ministry said.

There is an aging chain link fence equipped with sensors along some of the border that Jordan shares with Israel and the West Bank. Other sections are only equipped with barbed wire.

The border’s porousness has made it a site of frequent gun- and drug-running. Officials say that weapons that have made it over the border — likely tens of thousands over the past decade — have fueled a surge in violence in the Arab community in Israel, and have been used by Paleostinian terrorists.

In October, two button men breached the border from Jordan and infiltrated into Israel in an area south of the Dead Sea, close to the border community of Neot Hakikar. The Jordanian border in that area consists of just coils of barbed wire piled on each other.

The button men, members of the Moslem Brüderbund in Jordan, shot up IDF troops, lightly injuring two before they were rubbed out, having managed to cross a few meters into Israeli territory.

The idea of boosting the fence or building some sort of border wall has been floated repeatedly by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others for more than a decade, although many see any such an effort as unrealistic due to the sheer length of the border and the enormous cost.

The announcement on Tuesday appeared to be the furthest that project has advanced thus far.

Last month, as foreign minister, Katz called for a security fence to be built "quickly" along the Israel-Jordan border, accusing Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
of attempting to establish an "eastern terror front" against Israel by smuggling in weapons via Jordan.

A 30-kilometer (18-mile) portion of the border with Jordan, near the southernmost city of Eilat and the new Ramon International Airport, was upgraded in a similar fashion to Israel’s border barriers with Egypt and the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
Strip in the 2010s.

Israel shelled out NIS 300 million ($88 million) for the small section of the border near Eilat; a project to cover the whole Jordanian border would likely cost billions of shekels.

For years, Netanyahu and other Israeli officials touted its NIS 3.5 billion ($1.1 billion) high-tech state-of-the-art fence along the border with Gaza, which was equipped with a wall of iron, sensors and concrete, as providing the ultimate security protection to civilians in the area.

On the morning of October 7, 2023, the wall was breached by thousands of Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
terrorists, who disabled its sensors with drones, knocked parts of the barrier down with bulldozers, then drove through the gaping holes while others sailed over in paragliders, ultimately massacring around 1,200 people in Israel and taking 251 hostages to Gaza.

Separately, last month the Israel Defense Forces announced the formation of a new division that will be tasked with defending the country’s border with Jordan.

In a statement, the IDF said the decision to launch the new eastern regional division was made following an examination of the military’s "operational needs and defense capabilities in the area, in accordance with the planning of the IDF’s force build-up, in the light of the lessons of war and the situational assessment."

The division would be subordinate to IDF Central Command.

At present, the Jordan Valley Regional Brigade, under Central Command, is tasked with defending some 150 kilometers (90 miles) of the eastern frontier, from the northern part of the Dead Sea in the West Bank northward to the Hamat Gader hot springs in the Golan Heights. The Yoav Regional Brigade, under IDF Southern Command, is responsible for the sparsely populated southern section, from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea resort city of Eilat.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel hits 20 sites in Beirut within 2 minutes, in major offensive ahead of truce
[IsraelTimes] Extensive wave of strikes on Hezbollah assets comes hours before ceasefire is expected to be okayed; IDF troops reach Lebanon’s Litani River for first time since 2000

Israel launched a wave of simultaneous Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s Tuesday afternoon on 20 Hezbollah targets in the terror group’s Dahiyeh stronghold in southern Beirut, shortly before the security cabinet was set to convene and approve a ceasefire in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel.
Additionally, the Israel Defense Forces said that for the first time in 24 years, its soldiers had reached a portion of the Litani River, where it runs relatively close to the border.

After issuing an unusually broad evacuation warning for 20 buildings in the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, a Hezbollah stronghold, the IDF said that within two minutes, it had struck all 20 sites.

The swift and extensive wave of airstrikes was carried out by eight fighter jets, according to the military.

The military released footage showing the strikes.

An extensive wave of Israeli airstrikes in Beirut’s southern suburbs, in a video released by the IDF on November 26, 2024. (Israel Defense Forces)

Defense Minister Israel Katz’s office said he was approving "the continued IDF offensive operations on the northern front" during an assessment with the military’s top brass and other defense officials.

The meeting approving the battle plans was attended by IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, head of the Operations Directorate Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk, head of the Intelligence Directorate Maj. Gen. Shlomi Binder, head of the Strategy Directorate Maj. Gen. Eliezer Toledano, Defense Ministry Director General Eyal Zamir, and head of the ministry’s Political-Military Bureau Dror Shalom.

A short while before the major wave of strikes, Lebanese media outlets reported an additional Israeli airstrike in central Beirut — outside the Hezbollah stronghold — without an evacuation warning being given, indicating the strike was an attempted liquidation and not the regular targeting of Hezbollah infrastructure.

Later on Tuesday, in a warning to Lebanese civilians, Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man, said the military would be striking numerous branches of the al-Qard al-Hasan association.

"Iranian funding and Hezbollah’s independent sources of income are deposited at the association’s branches, and it is used in practice to manage and store the terror assets of the organization," Adraee said.

The front man said the strikes "will be another blow to the Iranian financing chain of Hezbollah, which uses an association under a civilian guise to finance assets for the storage of weapons, the establishment of launch sites, the payment of wages to its Lions of Islam and the build-up of its criminal terrorist organization, on the backs of the people of Lebanon."

Earlier, in the late morning, the IDF said it had struck six buildings in Beirut’s southern suburbs used by Hezbollah’s coast-to-sea missile unit and as command centers. In that case, too, evacuation warnings were issued for the sites.

The military said 26 airstrikes were conducted in Beirut on Tuesday, with the total for this week standing at 50.

According to the IDF, some 330 Hezbollah sites have been struck in Beirut’s southern suburbs since the beginning of the ongoing fighting. In the 2006 Second Lebanon War, for comparison, some 140 sites were struck.

TROOPS REACH LITANI RIVER
Earlier, the IDF said its 91st Division had reached the Litani River in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, as well as the Wadi Saluki area, adding that troops located dozens of Hezbollah weapons and sites in both areas.

It was the first time since 2000 — when Israel withdrew from southern Lebanon — that IDF troops have reached the Litani River.

In the Wadi Saluki area, troops of the Commando Brigade raided several Hezbollah sites. The IDF said the commandos located and seized hundreds of weapons, and found dozens of bunkers and dozens of primed rocket launchers.

At the Litani River, troops of the Alexandroni Brigade, 769th "Hiram" Regional Brigade, Golani Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, and the Israeli Air Force’s Shaldag unit raided numerous Hezbollah sites in the area.

The IDF said the troops battled Hezbollah button men in the Litani River area, and located and destroyed dozens of rocket launchers, hundreds of rockets, weapon depots, and other weapons hidden in the mountainside.

Wadi Saluki is around 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Israel’s border, and the Litani River in the eastern sector is around four kilometers from the northern Israeli town of Metula.

The chief of the IDF Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, visited the Litani River amid the operations.

The proposed truce deal that Israel is expected to agree to on Tuesday, which would halt the fighting on the northern front, calls for an initial two-month ceasefire during which Israeli forces would withdraw from Lebanon, and Hezbollah would end its armed presence south of the Litani River, which in most areas runs some 29 kilometers north of the border with Israel.

HEZBOLLAH COMMANDERS SLAIN
Meanwhile,
...back at the saw mill, Scarface Al had tied Little Nell to the log and was about to turn on the buzz saw...
the military said two Hezbollah commanders were killed Tuesday in separate airstrikes, one in the coastal Lebanese city of Tyre and one in an unspecified area in southern Lebanon.

The military named the commander slain in Tyre as Ahmed Subhi Hazima, head of operations in Hezbollah’s coastal region of southern Lebanon.

Hazima, who replaced the previous commander after he was killed in a strike on November 17, had advanced numerous attacks against Israel from the western sector of southern Lebanon, including infiltrations and anti-tank missile attacks, the IDF said.

The military described his killing as another blow to the terror group’s capabilities.

Later, the army said an airstrike on southern Lebanon killed a senior Hezbollah field commander.

It said fighters from the Commando Brigade — who have been operating in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, under the 98th Division — spotted a cell of Hezbollah button men in their area of operations, and directed strikes against them.

Among the dead was the commander of Hezbollah’s forces in the sector where the troops have been operating, according to the IDF. The military did not name the exact sector, as troops were still operating there.

The IDF said the troops have also located numerous weapons, including long-range anti-tank missiles, rocket launchers and other equipment belonging to Hezbollah.

Also Tuesday, the military said fighter jets struck several Hezbollah weapons depots in southern Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil that were being used to store anti-tank missiles, anti-aircraft equipment and other weapons.

In total, the military said 30 airstrikes had been conducted Tuesday in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah began firing into Israel the day after Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
’s October 7, 2023, onslaught in southern Israel, in support of its fellow Iran-backed terror group, drawing Israeli reprisals and leading to the displacement of some 60,000 residents of northern Israel. Fighting intensified in late September, with Israel killing much of Hezbollah’s leadership and launching a limited ground incursion on October 1.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah fired several barrages at northern Israel, including an evening attack of five rockets at the port city of Haifa, which were intercepted.

Earlier in the day, an IDF soldier was seriously maimed in a Hezbollah drone attack on the Mount Hermon area, the military said, adding that it was investigating the incident.

The servicewoman was taken to a hospital for treatment after a drone launched from Lebanon went kaboom! near soldiers in the Hermon.

In Kiryat Shmona, a home suffered significant damage after being hit by a rocket fired from Lebanon, police and the Fire and Rescue Services said. There were no reports of injuries in that incident.

Amsterdam bars Italian team’s fans from match, fearing repeat of antisemitic attacks
[IsraelTimes] City says risk of racist incidents from Lazio Rome supporters — fined in the past for offensive behavior — is too high in aftermath of November 7 violence against Maccabi TA fans

The city of Amsterdam, still traumatized by widespread, coordinated violence against Israeli soccer fans following a match earlier this month, said on Tuesday that no traveling fans would be allowed at Ajax Amsterdam’s Europa League home game, on December 12, against Italian side Lazio.

"Supporters of Lazio Rome are not welcome in Amsterdam... The risk of extreme-right, antisemitic, racist expressions and disturbances is too high," the municipality said in a statement.

Israeli officials said 10 people were maimed when Arab and Moslem gangs attacked Maccabi fans after a soccer match against Ajax Amsterdam on November 7. Hundreds more Israelis huddled in their hotels for hours, fearing they could be attacked. Many said that Dutch security forces were nowhere to be found as the Israeli tourists were ambushed by gangs of masked assailants who shouted pro-Paleostinian and anti-Israel slogans while they hunted, beat, and harassed them.

Lazio has been fined in the past for racist or antisemitic behavior from some of their fans. In September, several of those were banned from attending their Europa League match against Dynamo Kyiv in Hamburg after German police seized weapons from them.

In March, an Italian fan was arrested in Munich for performing an Adolf Hitler

"Some supporters of Lazio are known for their extreme right and fascist

sympathies as well as for their antisemitic and racist expressions," the city of Amsterdam said.

"On Nov 7 & 8, Amsterdam was spooked by the fierce violent mostly peaceful incidents surrounding the Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer game... There’s no room for expressions of racism and fascism

Contacted by Rooters, Lazio has not replied to a request for comment on the decision.

’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, the military announced Tuesday.

The slain soldier, named as Sgt. Tamer Othman, 21, of the Kfir Brigade’s Nahshon Battalion, from Kafr Yasif was killed in battle on Tuesday, the IDF said in a statement.

His death brings Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip to 381. The toll includes a police officer killed in a hostage rescue mission and a Defense Ministry civilian contractor.

Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif mourned Othman’s death in a statement, saying his community continued to pay a "heavy price" in the ongoing war, losing the best of its youth.

He urged the country’s leaders to "get up and take action," and ensure Druze soldiers are held as "equal partners" in the country, in an apparent allusion to grievances between the community and the government, among them over the controversial 2018 Jewish Nation-State Law.

The Druze community has charged that the 2018 law that designates Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish People is exclusionary and has called for it to be amended.

The military also announced Tuesday the death of Sgt. First Class Yona Betzalel Brief, 23, a combat medic with the Duvdevan commando unit, from Modiin, who had been critically maimed fighting murderous Moslems who burst across the border on October 7.

Hamas-led murderous Moslems killed some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, during the brutal onslaught, while taking 251 hostages to Gaza and starting the ongoing war.

A service to pray for Brief’s recovery, which was meant to be held at the Western Wall Tuesday night, was canceled after the announcement.

His sister Libby wrote on Facebook that God had caught up to Brief after a year of him trying to flee his fate.

"Someone wake me up from this nightmare, my heart has been shattered into millions of pieces," she wrote.

Modiin Mayor Haim Bibas wrote in a post that Brief "fought for his life with the same strength and determination that distinguishes him as a soldier."

Separately on Tuesday morning, a reservist noncommissioned officer with the 8163rd Combat Engineering Battalion was seriously maimed in central Gaza, the military said.

Later on in the day, one rocket launched from the northern Gaza Strip struck an open area near Kfar Aza, the military said. There were no injuries.

The IDF announced Tuesday that the head of Hamas’s East Jabalia Battalion’s rocket unit was recently killed in an Arclight airstrike

in the northern Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the military said that the Israeli Air Force carried out the strike against rocket unit head Ahmed Abd Halim Abu Hussein in cooperation with the 215th Artillery Regiment, the Military Intelligence Directorate, and the Shin Bet.

It said that Abu Hussein was "responsible for planning numerous rocket and mortar launches toward Israel and IDF troops operating in the Gaza Strip.

Several other Hamas operatives were killed in the attack, the IDF says, including one who "participated in the murderous massacre on October 7."

terrorist Basel Kamel Salim Nabahin, who also participated in the massacre, the IDF said Tuesday.

A recent airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip killed a Paleostinian Islamic Jihad terrorist who participated in the October 7 onslaught, the IDF says.

The PIJ operative is named as Basel Kamel Salim Nabahin.

Gaza’s civil defense agency said Tuesday that 22 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes and shelling of the Paleostinian territory, including 11 killed by a strike on a school-turned-shelter for displaced civilians.

The army said it struck "Hamas murderous Moslems who were operating inside a command and control center in Gaza City," adding that it "was embedded inside a compound that previously served as the ’Al-Hurriya’ School."

Earlier on Tuesday, the agency said 11 people were killed in overnight Israeli air strikes and shelling.

In the northern city of Jabalia, seven people were killed and several maimed in an airstrike on a residential building, civil defense front man Mahmud Bassal told AFP.

Another person was killed in a strike on a house in nearby Beit Lahia, which along with Jabalia has been the focus of a major Israeli military operation since October 6.

The attacks come amid Israel’s offensive in the northern Gaza areas of Jabilia and Beit Lahia, launched on October 6 to stop Hamas from regrouping. The military has said that tens of thousands of residents have complied with orders to evacuate the areas.

Additionally, on Tuesday, two people were killed in shelling at the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, Bassal said.

In the southern city of Rafah, an airstrike killed one person and maimed several, he added.

Amid the dire humanitarian situation in the enclave, Jordanian military planes dropped aid to northern Gaza for the first time in five months, an official source said.

Two C-130 planes belonging to the Jordanian air force dropped nearly seven tons of food and essential relief to areas the UN agencies identified as most in need and facing hunger, the source told Rooters.

The Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza said Tuesday that at least 44,249 people have been killed in more than 13 months of war, though the toll cannot be verified and does not differentiate between civilians and fighters. Israel says it has killed some 18,000 combatants in battle as of November and another 1,000 murderous Moslems inside Israel on October 7.

Israel has said it seeks to minimize civilian fatalities and stresses that Hamas uses Gaza’s civilians as human shields, fighting from civilian areas including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques.

Adding to the miseries of Gaza’s 2.3 million people, most of whom have been repeatedly displaced, heavy winter rain flooded hundreds of tents across the enclave, spoiling food and sweeping away plastic and cloth sheeting that had protected them against the elements.

The Paleostinian Civil Emergency Service said thousands of displaced people were impacted by the seasonal flooding and demanded new tents and caravans from aid donors to shield them.

Arabia
UAE thanks Turkey for help apprehending suspects in murder of Chabad rabbi
[IsraelTimes] UAE’s foreign ministry confirms Ankara’s involvement, but does not provide details on how it helped or where the suspects were when they were caught

The United Arab Emirates foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that Ottoman Turkish authorities assisted in the arrest of the suspects accused of murdering an Israeli rabbi in the UAE last week.

In a statement carried by the state news agency, the ministry thanked Ottoman Turkish authorities for "their cooperation in arresting the perpetrators," without providing further details.

Emirati authorities have said they arrested three Uzbek men for the suspected murder of Zvi Kogan, a 28-year-old rabbi who had been living in the UAE and was also a Moldovan national.

The circumstances of Kogan’s death have not been disclosed and it is unclear if Emirati authorities have established a motive or where the three suspects were when they were arrested.

Israeli officials have said Kogan was targeted because he was Jewish and branded his killing as an antisemitic terror attack. Israeli agencies are assisting in the investigation.

Kogan had been living in the UAE for several years and had been involved in outreach to the country’s Jewish community. He was reported missing on Thursday and his body was discovered on Sunday.

Uzbek officials have said the Tashkent government was assisting the Emirati and Israeli authorities in the investigation.

Two of the detained suspects are aged 28 and a third is 33. The three suspects have been shown blindfolded and in restraints in images released by the UAE Interior Ministry.
More from the Times of Israel:
According to a senior Turkish official, once the UAE determined that the three Uzbek suspects had fled the country, they turned to Turkey for help.

“The Turkish intelligence determined the flight taken by the individuals and executed all subsequent steps with utmost secrecy to avoid raising suspicion,” says the official.

The suspects landed in Istanbul, according to the Turkish official, but police allowed the suspects to leave the terminal and take a taxi in order to reduce the potential for a fight. The police and MIT followed the vehicle, which eventually reached a police checkpoint. The suspects were taken into custody there, then deported to the UAE.

“The Republic of Türkiye remains steadfast in its efforts to prevent criminals from remaining within its borders as part of its broader counter-terrorism initiatives,” says the official.

Afghanistan
Afghan Minister Haqqani Came to Meeting with Shoigu in Sandals and Socks
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Whatever is the proper attire for an Islamo-tyrant these days?

[Regnum] Afghan official Sirajuddin Haqqani, representing the ruling Taliban group in Afghanistan (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities), came to a meeting with Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu wearing sandals over socks. The photo was published on November 25 by the Alemarah portal.
At least it wasn't white after Labor Day
Haqqani was dressed in traditional Pashtun attire, with a turban on his head and brown sandals over dark blue socks.
Guess if the Saudis can wear bedsheets...
Shoigu arrived at the meeting wearing a classic suit and black shoes.

During the negotiations, Shoigu informed the Afghan side that the Russian government is in the final stages of removing the Taliban from the list of banned organizations.

For his part, Haqqani assessed the visit of the Russian delegation to Afghanistan as a positive and significant gesture. He expressed hope that the visit would further strengthen bilateral relations in various areas.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, during his trip to Afghanistan, Shoigu stated that Moscow is ready to intensify cooperation with Kabul across the entire spectrum of areas. Russian investors and state enterprises are interested in developing cooperation in the mining industry, transport and agriculture.

On November 26, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that lifting the Taliban's terrorist status would help develop contacts with the Afghan leadership. He recalled that the Taliban are the force holding power in the republic.

A bill has been submitted to the State Duma to remove the Taliban's terrorist status

A bill has been submitted to the State Duma that would allow the Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activity) to be excluded from the Russian list of terrorist organizations. The document was posted in the database of the legislative support system on November 25.

According to the text of the bill, it will be possible to temporarily lift the ban on the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation if there is factual information that it has ceased to promote, justify, or support terrorism or commit crimes.

The ban on activities will be lifted by a court decision. The Prosecutor General of Russia or his deputy will be able to file a corresponding application. It is separately emphasized that the status of a banned organization can be returned if it resumes terrorist activities.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on November 25, during a visit to Afghanistan, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu indicated Russia's readiness to exclude the Taliban from the "black list" of terrorists. He also announced the country's intention to intensify bilateral cooperation with Afghanistan to strengthen political and economic ties in the near future.

On October 4, member of the board of the Russian Foreign Ministry and former Russian ambassador to Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov stated that the decision to exclude the Taliban movement from the list of terrorist organizations was made at the highest level, but legal procedures must be followed.

On May 27, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice reported to the country's president, Vladimir Putin, that the Taliban movement could be excluded from the list of terrorist organizations.

, saying Paleostinians in Gaza deserve a similar end to conflict.

"The people of Gaza have been through hell, their worlds absolutely shattered, far too many civilians in Gaza have suffered far too much," Biden says.

While hinting at criticism of Israel in that remark, Biden is explicit in his blaming of Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
for refusing to negotiate in good faith for months.

"Now, Hamas has a choice to make. Their only way out is to release the hostages, including American citizens," Biden says, adding the deal the US is promoting would allow for a surge of humanitarian aid into Gaza and result in an "end of the war without Hamas in power."

Biden says the US, Egypt, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...

as well — will make another push for a ceasefire in Gaza. This is the first time he is adding Turkey into the equation, ostensibly since Hamas leaders landed there after Qatar ousted them from Doha. Qatar announced that it was temporarily ending its mediation efforts shortly after it confirmed ousting Hamas leaders in late October. Doha has not since announced a resumption of its mediating role.

The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
ceasefire moves the Biden administration closer to its vision for a more integrated Middle East — one that includes the establishment of a demilitarized Paleostinian state alongside Israel, the president says.

To that end, Biden says the US remains prepared to broker a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat Frational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
, which would include "a credible pathway for establishing a Paleostinian state."

Israel has repeatedly rejected the two-state framework, and a pair of US politicians told The Times of Israel months ago that the window to secure a deal before the end of Biden’s term in office has closed.

Nonetheless, Biden says, "I believe this agenda remains possible. In my remaining time in office, I will work tirelessly to advance this vision."

He acknowledges that a Saudi normalization deal will require Israel to make "hard choices."

"Now, Israel must be bold in turning tactical gains against Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and his proxies into a coherent strategy that secures Israel’s long term safety and advances of broader peace and prosperity in the region," Biden says, in an apparent shot at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who for months refused to plan at all for the post-war management of Gaza, while rejecting the involvement of a reformed Paleostinian Authority, even though it would unlock much-needed support from Israel’s Arab neighbors for the post-war reconstruction and management of Gaza.

"I applaud the courageous decision made by the leaders of Lebanon and Israel to end the violence. It reminds us that peace is possible," Biden says. "As long as that is the case, I’ll not for a single moment stop working to achieve it."

Protesters vandalize Netherlands office of pro-Israel Christian group
[IsraelTimes] Activists at demonstration led by Extinction Rebellion and other groups daub slogans on premises of Christians for Israel, intimidate staff arriving for work with ‘genocide’ claims

Anti-Israel demonstrators vandalized the offices of a Christian organization in the Netherlands that supports Israel, daubing the site Monday with slogans that accused its members of supporting genocide and killing babies.

The protest at the Christians for Israel Center in the central Dutch city of Nijkerk came weeks after the country was the site of attacks on Jewish Israeli soccer fans by pro-Paleostinian activists in what officials described as an antisemitic pogrom.

Protesters in Nijkerk defaced a building where Christians for Israel is based, spray-painting slogans that accused Christians for Israel members of "supporting genocide" and being "child murderers" and "complicit in the events in Gazoo

," it said.

"The protest occurred precisely as most staff members were arriving at work, catching many off guard," the group said in a statement.

Climate justice organization Extinction Rebellion
…another tentacle of the Antifa/Black Bloc anarcho-Communist syndicate, stood up in England in 2018 to address climate change, but now turning its hand to Jew hate for more immediate gratification…
grabbed credit for the protest in a post to its X social media account, listing the local branches of Christian Collective and Justice Now as fellow participants.

"The vandalism created a distressing and hostile environment for staff and disrupted the organization’s daily activities," Christians for Israel said.

Frank van Oordt, executive director of Christians for Israel Netherlands, said the group was "shocked that this is happening in our country" and more so that the action was taken by other Christians.
Think of them as “Christians” — cosplayers, not the real thing. Exactly like Jewish Voice for Peace and the rest of that lot.
The incident came days before Christians for Israel planned to hold a major rally in Amsterdam in support of the Jewish community, after Israeli soccer fans and tourists were hounded through the streets amid violent mostly peaceful festivities when Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv played the local Ajax soccer club earlier this month.

There has been continuing violence against Jews in Amsterdam by anti-Israel protesters in the weeks that f
And before, too, according to reports.
The planned support rally "seems to have drawn the ire of organizations opposing Israel’s policies, some of whom have resorted to disruptive and destructive tactics," Christians for Israel said.

Though staff immediately alerted police, the group said officers took three hours to disperse the demonstrators.
How many of the police officers were Moslem colonists or Jew-hating sympathizers?
A Christians for Israel spokesperson said that staff tried to speak with the protesters but "instead of engaging with facts and constructive dialogue, they resort to yelling, vandalizing, and spreading misinformation."
I am shocked that lot were so impolite.
Christians for Israel was particularly dismayed since it also provides financial aid to Paleostinian communities, the group said.
Perhaps it’s time to discontinue that.
"For many years, we have contributed hundreds of thousands of Euros to organizations that aid Paleostinians and foster cooperation between Arab and Jewish communities in Israel," it said in the statement. "Accusing us of complicity in genocide ignores these facts."

There were no injuries in the incident. Christians for Israel said it was the latest in a series of "targeted actions" against the group including similar vandalism of the building last summer.

The organization said it was working with authorities to ensure the safety of staff and the premises.

"Christians for Israel vows to continue its work undeterred, standing firm in the face of hostility and misinformation," it said, adding that the incident serves to show the importance of the upcoming rally "which aims to foster solidarity and support for the Jewish people."

On Tuesday, Justice Now protesters blocked the entrance of Dutch broadcaster NOS’s building in Hilversum accusing it of biased reporting in favor of Israel.

Stalin's Mistake: How Carpathian Rusyns Wanted to Become Russia, But Became Ukrainians
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Oleg Khavich

[REGNUM] Exactly eighty years ago, on November 26, 1944, in the ancient city of Mukachevo, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, an event called the "First Congress of People's Committees" was held. A month before, the armies of the 4th Ukrainian Front, having overcome the Carpathian pass Russkiy Put (separating Galicia from the Danube plains), drove the Nazis and their allies, the troops of the Hungarian regent Miklos Horthy, out of Transcarpathia .

And now in the liberated city of Munkacs — which was given back its original Slavic name of Mukachevo — the indigenous inhabitants of the region, the Rusyns, under the protection of the Red Army, were deciding the most pressing issues. About how to allocate land and forest to the peasants for free, how to elect a People's Council. And most importantly — under whose authority would Carpathian Rus be from now on. The long-suffering region had already changed its state affiliation for the fourth time (if we count from the beginning of the 20th century).

But the result of this expression of will was not what the Rusyns had expected.

AN ANCIENT PEOPLE WITH AN UNCLEAR DESTINY
The word "Rusyns" has an interesting history. From the 13th to the 17th centuries, this was the name given to the subjects of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (and after the union of Lithuania and Poland, the subjects of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth), who spoke and wrote in Western Russian dialects of the Russian language and professed Orthodoxy. Only later did some of them accept the Uniate faith.

Also, those descendants of the inhabitants of the ancient Galician Principality who found themselves under the rule of Polish, Hungarian kings and Moldavian rulers called themselves Rusyns.

In the Carpathian plains and in the mountainous Lemkivshchyna at the junction of Poland and Slovakia, the name "Rusyns" has survived to this day. But the question remains: who are they? The fourth East Slavic ethnic group (along with the Great Russians, Little Russians and Belarusians), part of the large Russian people or a subethnos of Ukrainians?

Historically, the indigenous people of Hungarian (Hungarian) Rus' were separated for centuries by state borders from their fellow tribesmen in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Moldova. Even the inclusion of Galicia and Bukovina in the Austrian, and later Austro-Hungarian Empire, did not change the situation much. Galicia and Bukovina were in the Austrian part of the dual monarchy, Hungarian Rus' and Slovakia were in the Hungarian part.

THREE POWERS AND A TWO-WEEK REPUBLIC
In 1918, the Habsburg monarchy was rapidly collapsing and Transcarpathia changed power for the first time since the beginning of the century. On October 15, 1918, the Ukrainian National Council in Lviv included the "Ukrainian strip of northeastern Hungary" into the "Ukrainian state", which later received the name of the West Ukrainian People's Republic (ZUNR). There was virtually no reaction to this in the region. Only the "Hutsul Republic" created in the mountain village of Yasinya expressed readiness to join the ZUNR.

In the rest of Hungarian Rus, the ZUNR troops were perceived as occupying forces, especially after the marauding raid of several battalions of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen.

At the beginning of 1919, power changed for the second time - the region was occupied by the army of Czechoslovakia, and on September 10 of the same year, the land of the Rusyns became part of this state. Although the Constitution of the first Czechoslovak Republic of February 29, 1920 introduced the name "Subcarpathian Rus" for the region and formally granted it autonomy, this status remained only on paper.

The situation changed only after Adolf Hitler, with the assistance of France and Great Britain, began to redraw the map of Europe.

After the Munich Agreement of September 30, 1938, when Czechoslovakia first lost the Sudetenland (to Germany) and the Teschen Region (to Poland), Prague finally decided to make the autonomy of Subcarpathian Ruthenia a reality.

This ended with the proclamation by Ukrainian nationalists on March 15, 1939 of the so-called “Carpathian Ukraine” (this name was first officially used on December 30, 1938 by the government of the autonomy under the leadership of the Uniate priest Augustin Voloshin ).

However, this quasi-state entity, controlled by the OUN*, existed for just over a day: on March 17, 1939, the troops of Regent Horthy "returned the lands lost by Hungary" - that is, they occupied the entire territory of the region, reaching its borders with Poland and Romania. Power changed for the third time.

CARPATHIAN RUS' - NOT TRANSCARPATHIAN UKRAINE
It is worth noting that at that time Moscow did not officially consider the territory of the region as a potential part of Soviet Ukraine. In the official note of the USSR to the Third Reich of March 18, 1939 regarding the liquidation of the Czechoslovak Republic, it was stated, in particular, that "the actions of the German government served as a signal for the brutal invasion of Hungarian troops into Carpathian Rus and the violation of the basic rights of its population", without specifying any ethnonyms.

True, the Western press and diplomats first reported on March 10, 1939, that there were plans in the USSR to annex the region to Soviet Ukraine.

In response, Stalin officially called this a fabrication and “suspicious noise,” the purpose of which was “to provoke a conflict between the USSR and Germany without any apparent reason.”

Indeed, in the spring of 1939, the region did not even have a common border with the Ukrainian SSR (it appeared only in September of that year, after the Soviet Union occupied the regions of Galicia).

"OUR LAND, BUT WE CAN GIVE IN"
The position of the Czechoslovak leaders in exile regarding the future fate of Subcarpathian Ruthenia was ambivalent. On the one hand, they insisted on the need to restore Czechoslovakia within the pre-Munich borders. But in conversations with Kremlin representatives, President-in-exile Edvard Beneš did not deny the possibility of a special solution to the region's issue.

Benes' conversation with the Soviet ambassador to London, Ivan Maisky, on September 21, 1939, is revealing: "This is our land, we have a right to it. For us, there are only two solutions: either it will be ours, or, if the USSR is our neighbor and demands it, then we would have nothing against it."

In the spring of 1944, Mr. Benes spoke in the same spirit: "We are for the fact that Subcarpathian Rus' should be formally returned to us, since it was included in our pre-Munich borders. However, if the Subcarpathian Rusyns decide to join Soviet Ukraine, we will not prevent this."

At the same time, according to the alliance treaty, which was concluded at the end of 1943 between the USSR and Czechoslovakia for a period of 20 years, both parties were obliged to restore the borders that Czechoslovakia had before the Munich Agreement, that is, with Subcarpathian Rus as its integral part.

THE NINTH STRIKE AND GEOGRAPHICAL NEWS
The question of the future of Subcarpathian Ruthenia moved into the practical realm in October 1944, when the Nazi “new order” in this part of Europe began to come apart at the seams – first due to the Slovak National Uprising, then during one of the ten “Stalinist strikes” – offensive operations in 1944.

Part of the ninth strike – the East Carpathian Operation – was the liberation by the forces of the 4th Ukrainian Front of Transcarpathia occupied by the Hungarians and the territories of Hitler’s satellite – the puppet Slovak Republic.

The first sign that everything was changing radically was Joseph Stalin’s order of October 28, 1944, which solemnly announced that the Soviet troops had “gained control over the capital of Transcarpathian Ukraine, Uzhgorod, on the territory of Czechoslovakia.”

Moscow suddenly began to operate with the new concept of “Transcarpathian Ukraine”, although such a territorial unit has never existed in history.

CZECH GERMAN AND THE DISGUISED PARTISANS
On October 28, 1944, the Czechoslovak mission headed by František Němec ( Minister in the Czechoslovak government in exile) arrived in Khust. By agreement with the command of the 4th Ukrainian Front, the mission was allowed to carry out its activities only in the territory of the five eastern districts of the region.

On the day of his arrival in Khust, Mr. Nemec issued an appeal declaring the supremacy of the laws of Czechoslovakia adopted before September 30, 1938, as well as the decrees of the president and the orders of the London government in exile, in the territory of Subcarpathia.

However, the Soviet commandant's offices paralyzed the work of Benes's emissaries. On November 19, 1944, at a conference in Mukachevo, the Communist Party of Transcarpathia was created, headed by Ivan Turyanitsa, a native of a village near Khust.

Turyanitsa had previously been a lieutenant in the Czechoslovak corps of General Ludwig Svoboda, with whom he arrived in Transcarpathia, and was not noted for his separatist ideas. But Stalin explained to Benesh: the USSR had nothing to do with it, these were “mass and spontaneous movements of the local population,” the Rusyns, who were fighting for their right to self-determination…

In such a situation, the first congress of the People's Committees of Transcarpathia was convened. Among the delegates to the congress were many regular workers of the party and Soviet bodies of Soviet Ukraine dressed as partisans.

AND PERSONALLY DEAR LEONID ILYICH
The Political Directorate of the 4th Ukrainian Front, headed by Lieutenant General Mikhail Pronin, was responsible for the preparation and holding of the congress, and among those “supervising” the congress was the chief “political instructor” of the 18th Army, Colonel Leonid Brezhnev.

It seemed that the Red Army (which was perceived primarily as a Russian army) would become the guarantor of the realization of the aspirations of Carpathian Russophiles for reunification with “Mother Russia” or the creation of a separate Carpatho-Russian Republic.

The congress was opened by Nikolai Dragula, director of the Mukachevo Rusyn Gymnasium and member of the board of the Russian Cultural and Educational Society named after Alexander Dukhnovich (a Greek Catholic priest, writer and teacher, one of the founding fathers of the Russophile movement of the 19th century). The famous Russophiles Pyotr Sova and Pyotr Lintur were elected "vice-speakers" of the People's Council under Speaker Turyanitsa.

And then something unexpected happened.

HOW RUS BECAME UKRAINE
The first item on the congress’s agenda was the distribution of land and forest lands to the villagers, which, of course, no one objected to.

But the right to free provision was granted to the people's committees of the formally non-existent Transcarpathian Ukraine. Therefore, the congress - whether it wanted to or not - had to rename Subcarpathian Rus to Transcarpathian Ukraine.

After this, the congress moved on to the main issue - the adoption of the Manifesto on the annexation of the region to Soviet Ukraine. Not all delegates were delighted with this. If at the congress itself this was only discussed behind the scenes, then Pyotr Lintur openly declared in Moscow on December 7, 1944:

“We are resolutely against the annexation of our territory to the Ukrainian SSR, and we wish to see our land autonomous within the borders of Soviet Russia,” because the Rusyns “do not want to be Ukrainians, but want to continue to be Rus’.”

Lintur and his support group (among whom were Orthodox clergy) called for the creation of a Carpathian-Russian Soviet Republic or Carpathian autonomy within the RSFSR.

But it was too late to complain and make suggestions, because the decision had already been made – and not in Uzhgorod.

WHO DICTATED THE "UNSHAKABLE WILL"
The editor of the journal “Soviet Slavic Studies”, a native of Mukachevo, Ivan Pop, in the late Soviet years found in the archive of the Central Committee of the CPSU the first copy of the Manifesto on the entry of Transcarpathia into the Ukrainian SSR and the USSR, typewritten in Russian.

The text contains edits made by Lev Mekhlis, a member of the Military Council of the 4th Ukrainian Front. The People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs Vyacheslav Molotov and the head of the International Policy Department of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Georgy Dimitrov also made their positive resolutions on the same original .

The preamble to the Manifesto stated: "With the help of the heroic Red Army, the German-Hungarian yoke has been thrown off. An end has been put to the centuries-long rule of the Hungarians and all foreigners on the original Ukrainian lands of Transcarpathian Ukraine " (emphasis added. - IA Regnum ).

Based on this, as well as on the “unshakable will of the entire people, expressed in petitions and resolutions of workers, peasants, intelligentsia and clergy of all cities and villages of Transcarpathian Ukraine,” the congress decided:

"Reunite Transcarpathian Ukraine with its Great Mother Soviet Ukraine and leave Czechoslovakia."

It remained to resolve the issue with the Czechoslovakians, who, as the Red Army advanced, increasingly had to take into account the will of Moscow.

DELIVERY AND ACCEPTANCE
On December 1, 1944, Lev Mekhlis and General Pronin, taking with them the head of the People's Council of Transcarpathia, Turyanitsa, met with Benes's emissary, František Nemec, and handed over a note on the "withdrawal of Transcarpathian Ukraine from federal Czechoslovakia."

Beneš agreed, under the threat of Slovakia also separating from his state. The scenario was realistic, given the pro-Soviet sympathies of the Slovaks and Rusyns. Nikita Khrushchev claims in his memoirs: the delegation from north-eastern Slovakia “asked that their territory be annexed to the Soviet Union . ”

True, Beneš bargained: he asked for a guarantee that Slovakia would not be taken away (but here Stalin referred to the right of nations to self-determination), and insisted that the decision to cede Subcarpathia should be approved after the war by the Czechoslovak parliament.

The “delivery and acceptance” of the territory and the extremely important railway junction of Chop, which is not part of Transcarpathia, was formalized in 1945–1946: the Soviet-Czechoslovak treaty of March 1945, decisions of the Czechoslovak National Assembly and the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR... But all of this was already formalities.

HOW UZHGOROD DIDN'T BECOME KALININGRAD
The main thing is that the Moscow leadership of that time, headed by Stalin, actually took the point of view of the Galician Ukrainophiles, who considered the Rusyns to be part of the Ukrainian nation, and “reunited all Ukrainian lands” within the framework of one large republic, without any Rusyn enclaves or autonomies. Thus, Transcarpathia found itself adjacent to Galicia.

The differences between these two territories are evidenced by the NKVD and MGB reports on the number of people killed by the OUN*-UPA* in 1944–1953 in Transcarpathia and the neighboring Stanislav (Ivano-Frankivsk) regions: 48 killed against 10 thousand.

Yes, armed Ukrainian nationalism was suppressed by the mid-to-late 1950s and the idea of "independence" seemed to be over. But in the long term, the decision to "add" Ukraine at the expense of Transcarpathia turned out to be a mistake. Unlike, for example, the decision to create the Kaliningrad Region of the RSFSR in the part of East Prussia that we inherited — and not to "donate" this territory, for example, to the Lithuanian SSR.

The personal destinies of the main characters turned out happily. Ivan Turyanitsa became the first (in all senses) secretary of the Zaporizhzhya regional committee of the Communist Party (bolsheviks) of Ukraine and died a peaceful death of his own accord. Even the troublemaker Pyotr Lintur did not suffer - although he worked not on the party line, but "on culture".

Turyanitsa is buried on the Hill of Glory in Uzhgorod, where a monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators was dismantled two years ago. The grave of the "reunifier" is not being touched yet, but all the streets named after him in the region have been renamed as part of the decommunization campaign. However, the Kiev regime is in no hurry to cancel the communist legacy - the Manifesto on the annexation of Transcarpathia to the Ukrainian SSR, adopted under Turyanitsa's leadership.

The special self-awareness of the multi-ethnic Transcarpathia has not gone away. Judging by the results of the regional referendum of 1991, at the time of the collapse of the USSR, 78% of residents were in favor of self-government of the region. The plebiscite, of course, was not recognized in Kyiv - and nothing like this has been held since. As then, and to this day, any hint of self-determination of the Carpathian Hungarians and especially the Rusyns (for whom, unlike the local Magyars, there is no one to stand up for) is suppressed. At least for now.

Under the Sheikhs' Noses: Why Uzbek Killers Killed a Chabad Rabbi in the Emirates
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] On November 21, Rabbi Zvi Kogan, an emissary of the religious movement Chabad, went missing in the United Arab Emirates. A few days later, his body was found in his car 150 km from the place of disappearance.

The Iranian secret services were promptly accused of killing Kogan, and the incident itself was considered revenge for the actions of the Israelis in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, as the investigation progresses, it becomes clear that Tehran is far from the only one who can benefit from the death of a religious figure.

CHABAD AND PALESTINE
Chabad stands out from other ultra-Orthodox movements in Israel, primarily because it closely cooperates with the national armed forces and is directly involved in shaping the “moral guidelines” of career soldiers and conscripts.

Moreover, Chabad clerics do not criticize military service (which is unusual for the ultra-Orthodox), and Chabad Jews form the backbone of some ultra-Orthodox units in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Similar special units exist, for example, in the 84th Infantry Brigade "Givati" and the 35th Airborne Brigade "Tzanhanim".

Another feature of the Chabad supporters’ portrait is their zealous attitude towards “historical lands.” They consider the Israeli army’s presence in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank to be a “necessary mission” and oppose any concessions to Israel’s opponents, even if this is part of a broader diplomatic effort.

Tel Aviv's opponents are convinced that the IDF is deliberately using units with close ties to Chabad as a "sword of vengeance" in the most difficult areas of Gaza. It is not surprising that a representative of this movement could be chosen as the "object of revenge".

OUTLINES OF THE "IRANIAN TRACE"
The theory that Iranian special services were behind the high-profile incident emerged in the first hours after Kogan's disappearance. And after his body was discovered, the suspicions only grew stronger.

Supporters of the version about the “Iranian trace” in the death of the rabbi insist that Tehran has already carried out “special operations” on the territory of the UAE more than once – over the past decade, several dozen spy scandals have thundered between the countries.

For example, in 2020, Iranian counterintelligence kidnapped Jamshid Sharmahd, a German engineer of Iranian origin, from Dubai, who was suspected of working for the monarchist underground organization Tondar and stealing secret information about Iran's missile program.

The story of Rabbi Kogan has several intersections with the "Sharmakhd affair."

Firstly, both abducted persons had citizenship of third countries (Sharmakhd was a citizen of Germany, Kogan had passports of Moldova and the UAE).

Secondly, both incidents are easily identifiable as having an ideological component. In particular, the capture of Sharmahd was later presented as a “crushing blow” to the Tondar positions, which allegedly cost the monarchists “the results of several years of underground work.”

The capture of an active Chabad figure could well be presented as a blow to the interests of those forces that advocate for the expansion of Israel's presence in the Gaza Strip and, theoretically, push Tel Aviv's external partners into confrontation with Iran.

On the other hand, the Iranian authorities are in every way denying their involvement in the murder of Kogan, while the capture of Sharmahd was almost immediately presented as an operation by Iranian special services. No words of support were heard from the majority of authorities of the pro-Iranian "Axis of Resistance".

However, the theory about the involvement of Iranian intelligence services received additional support from representatives of the Israeli General Security Service (Shabaq). They reported that several Israeli government ministers, including Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu and Negev and Galilee Minister Yitzhak Wasserlauf, recently received direct invitations from Chabad to an event in New York dedicated to Hanukkah.

However, upon closer inspection it turned out that the person who contacted the ministers had no connection with the movement, and the invitation itself was allegedly compiled using a neural network.

This gave the Israelis reason to believe that the liquidation of Kogan and the sending of invitations on behalf of Chabad were connected and were elements of a larger operation to hunt down influential Israelis.

OTHER INTERESTS
As time goes by, more and more elements appear in the “Kogan case” that cast doubt on the validity of the “Iranian connection” version.

Thus, after UAE law enforcement officers detained the alleged “liquidators,” citizens of Uzbekistan, rumors began to circulate that the perpetrators of the attack were recruited by radical Islamists who consider themselves to be part of one of the structural divisions of ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in Russia).

The terrorist underground has its own scores to settle with Chabad, and the terrorist attack on an ultra-Orthodox rabbi who supports the IDF offensive in Gaza fits in perfectly with the radical concept of “fighting for Palestinian interests.” In the long term, it could be used by terrorists to recruit new supporters in the enclave.

Moreover, the motives for the murder are still not entirely clear, especially since Kogan was not the only (albeit quite active) representative of Chabad in the UAE.

At least four more emissaries of the movement continue to work in the country. For Iran, a living representative of Chabad, whose “public repentance” could be used in anti-Israeli propaganda, would be of much greater value. Especially since responsibility for the liquidation of Kogan is still not being taken by official Tehran, nor by its proxy partners (including Hamas).

Be that as it may, Israel will receive its dividends from the "Kogan case" in any case. Regardless of the further course of the investigation, the incident has seriously damaged the trust between Abu Dhabi and Tehran, thereby strengthening the "Emirati-Israeli tandem", especially in terms of intelligence cooperation.

In addition, Tel Aviv received additional leverage over the United States, providing another trump card in negotiations to resolve the situation in Gaza.

Now the White House will likely need to include in the guarantees a clause on protecting Jewish communities in other countries from possible attacks by “Iranian agents,” which would further delay the conclusion of any ceasefire agreements until a change of administration in the White House.

Israeli researchers discover method to hack AI, force it to reveal sensitive information
[Ynet] Researchers from the Israeli cybersecurity company Knostic have unveiled a groundbreaking method to exploit large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, by leveraging what they describe as an "impulsiveness" characteristic in AI.

Researchers at cybersecurity firm Knostic have developed a method to bypass safeguards in large language models like ChatGPT, extracting sensitive information such as salaries, private communications and trade secrets

Researchers from the Israeli cybersecurity company Knostic have unveiled a groundbreaking method to exploit large language models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, by leveraging what they describe as an "impulsiveness" characteristic in AI.

Dubbed flowbreaking, this attack bypasses safety mechanisms to coax the AI into revealing restricted information or providing harmful guidance — responses it was programmed to withhold.
The findings, published Tuesday, detail how the attack manipulates AI systems into prematurely generating and displaying responses before their safety protocols can intervene. These responses —ranging from sensitive data such as a boss's salary to harmful instructions — are then momentarily visible on the user’s screen before being deleted by the AI’s safety systems. However, tech-savvy users who record their interactions can still access the fleetingly exposed information.

HOW THE ATTACK WORKS
Unlike older methods such as jailbreaking, which relied on linguistic tricks to bypass safeguards, flowbreaking targets internal components of LLMs, exploiting gaps in the interaction between those components.

Knostic researchers identified two primary vulnerabilities enabled by this method:

Second Thoughts: AI models sometimes stream answers to users before safety mechanisms fully evaluate the content. In this scenario, a response is displayed and quickly erased, but not before the user sees it.

Stop and Roll: By halting the AI mid-response, users can force the system to display partially generated answers that have bypassed safety checks.

"LLMs operate in real-time, which inherently limits their ability to ensure airtight security," said Gadi Evron, CEO and co-founder of Knostic. "This is why layered, context-aware security is critical, especially in enterprise environments."

IMPLICATIONS FOR AI SECURITY
Knostic’s findings have far-reaching implications for the safe deployment of AI systems in industries such as finance, health care, and technology. The company warns that, without stringent safeguards, even well-intentioned AI implementations like Microsoft Copilot and Glean could inadvertently expose sensitive data or create other vulnerabilities.

Evron emphasized the importance of "need-to-know" identity-based safeguards and robust interaction monitoring. "AI safety isn’t just about blocking bad actors. It’s about ensuring these systems align with the organization’s operational context," he said.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Lebanon’s Shiites increasingly reject role of scapegoat in Hezbollah’s war on Israel
[IsraelTimes] Over 1.4 million Lebanese from Hezbollah’s support base have fled their homes. And while the terror group attempts to retain their loyalty, some are calling for its demise

Ahmad Yassine, a Lebanese Shiite commentator with a large following on the social media platform X, wrote last Thursday that Hezbollah’s new leader, Naim Qassem
... the Grand Vizier of the Hezbullies...
, signaled the group’s capitulation as a military force in his latest address last week.

"It was clear to anyone who heard the pre-recorded speech that it was a declaration of complete surrender," Yassine wrote. "Hezbollah has fallen, all it has to do now is announce the date of the funeral," he wrote.

While Yassine’s remarks accord with the group’s heavily diminished military capabilities and decimated leadership, not everyone within Hezbollah’s Shiite support base shares his conclusion — despite bearing the brunt of Israel’s ongoing escalation against the Iran-backed organization.

Over 1.4 million people — nearly a quarter of Leb

’s population — have fled their homes since Hezbollah initiated hostilities against Israel on October 8, 2023, according to recent figures published by the UN quoting Lebanese government data.

The overwhelming majority of those currently displaced fled after Israel escalated strikes two months ago, targeting largely Shiite Hezbollah strongholds across southern Lebanon, the eastern Beqaa Valley, and Beirut’s Dahiyeh district. In the first 11 months of the conflict that Hezbollah instigated, approximately 110,000 Lebanese had evacuated.

party, have largely complied by moderating their political rhetoric and urging supporters not to stoke tensions, the danger on the ground remains.

Residents recently told Rooters that conflict often centers around schools that have welcomed displaced people. Hezbollah-allied parties are said to have seized control of who comes and goes and what enters some of those institutions.

Sectarian tensions have resurfaced regularly in recent years, and some analysts have already warned of a possible outbreak of a new civil war.

Hezbollah expert Matthew Levitt, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, recently told The Times of Israel that as the terror group loses ground on the battlefield, it may resort to using guns to maintain its grip over Lebanon.

Some pundits have warned that a marginalization of Hezbollah from the Lebanese political scene after it is defanged militarily could have strong repercussions on Hezbollah’s Shiite support base.

"The community is traumatized, dislocated, and heavily armed, without a leader capable of controlling the widespread resentment and humiliation Shiites must feel as the only community targeted by Israel," wrote Michael Young, a Beirut-based Lebanon expert for the Carnegie Endowment, in a recent commentary.

"Hezbollah will spread a narrative that they [Lebanese politicians] exploited the Israeli onslaught to once again marginalize Shiites, and this message will allow Hezbollah to absorb and redirect internally the anger many in the community must feel for having lost everything," he added.

GROWING DISCONTENT WITH HEZBOLLAH AMONG SOME SHIITES
Hezbollah has positioned itself as the defender of Shiites, capitalizing on the community’s anger and vulnerability to maintain loyalty.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
prominent voices within the Shiite community are challenging the terror group’s authority, echoing the criticism of several Lebanese Christian leaders.

Prominent Lebanese Shia holy man Ali al-Amin, a longstanding thorn in the side of Hezbollah, has consistently called for the terror group to disarm and hand control to the Lebanese state.

In a recent interview with the Saudi al-Arabiya channel, al-Amin argued that Hezbollah is a permanent threat to stability, and its actions have endangered Lebanon without benefiting Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
In a video address on November 14 published on his website, the holy man praised Lebanon as a "model of coexistence based on openness and tolerance among the various religious groups," and condemned "those who took advantage of the weakness of the Lebanese state to establish mini-states."

"As long as there are weapons outside the control of the state, there will always be unrest," he said.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Man pleads guilty to threatening to bomb Massachusetts synagogues
[IsraelTimes] John Reardon, 59, made phone calls to local synagogues, Jewish community organization in January, saying, ‘If you can kill the Palestinians, we can kill you’

A Massachusetts man has pleaded guilty in federal court to threatening to kill members of the state’s Jewish community and bomb local synagogues.

John Reardon, 59, of Millis, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs by threat of force, one count of transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure a person, and one count of stalking using a facility of interstate commerce.

"This defendant’s threats to bomb synagogues and kill Jewish children stoked fear in the hearts of congregants at a time when Jews are already facing a disturbing increase in threats," US Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a statement. "No person and no community in this country should have to live in fear of hate-fueled violence."
He can’t be bothered to do anything at all about “activists” physically attacking college students for being Jewish for over a year, but he is proud of going after a hoax threat.
Jodi Cohen, the special agent in charge of the FBI Boston Field Office, said the guilty plea sends a message that "you cannot call and threaten people with violent mostly peaceful physical harm and not face repercussions."

"People of all races and faiths deserve to feel safe in their communities," she said.
You’re in Boston. Next do Harvard.
In January, Reardon called Congregation Agudas Achim in Attleboro, Massachusetts, and left a voicemail making several threats to kill congregants and bomb the synagogue, including that "if you can kill the Paleostinians, we can kill you," federal authorities said. Ten minutes later, he allegedly made a call to another local synagogue and a Jewish organization.

Reardon was arrested days later.

"We’re thankful that Mr. Reardon has admitted responsibility for his actions," said Rabbi Talya Weisbard Shalem of Congregation Agudas Achim. "What he did was shocking and disturbing to those in our community who had to experience it. I am heartened that Mr. Reardon has apparently recognized the harm he caused and wishes to make amends."

Reardon faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $750,000 on the three charges. No sentencing date had been set.

A phone number could not be found for Reardon and his attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Several hurt by Hezbollah fire in north as expected truce deal looms
[IsraelTimes] Elderly woman seriously hurt in Nahariya, soldier injured at Mount Hermon; army limits gatherings, closes schools in north, with Netanyahu set to convene cabinet to okay ceasefire

Hezbollah rocket and drone attacks on northern Israel seriously injured two elderly people and a soldier, and warplanes carried out strikes on the terror group’s Lebanese strongholds, as international efforts to secure a truce between the Iran-backed terror group and Israel appeared to near completion.

With concerns high over the possibility that fighting could ramp up as a ceasefire deal nears, the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command issued new restrictions in several areas of northern Israel.

The IDF said Monday evening it was putting communities across the Golan Heights and along the northern frontier under "limited activity" rules, tightening them from "partial activity."

The restrictions bar most schools from opening and also forbid large gatherings in the area.

While near the restive borders with Leb

and Syria, the Golan Heights has largely been spared the brunt of rocket fire on northern Israel, though a Hezbollah rocket attack on the Golan town of Majdal Shams in late July killed 12 children.

The changes reflected fears in Israel that Hezbollah will ramp up rocket attacks before a ceasefire comes into effect, as the sides seek to maximize gains before laying down arms.

Israel’s high-level security cabinet was slated to convene later Tuesday to decide on whether to sign off on a 60-day ceasefire halting more than a year of hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel, which flared into all-out war in late September.

Throughout Monday evening and into Tuesday morning, rocket warning sirens blared in Israeli communities near the Lebanon border and the Galilee region as rockets arched from Lebanon into Israel.

A barrage of 10 rockets targeting the coastal city of Nahariya and nearby areas Monday night saw some projectiles and shrapnel impact in inhabited areas.

A 70-year-old woman was hospitalized at death's door following the rocket volley, the Magen David Adom ambulance service said. A man in his 80s was also lightly hurt in the attack. The two were both maimed by shrapnel, medics said.

Several others were treated for acute anxiety.

A video appeared to show a building in the city on fire after being struck by shrapnel.

The IDF says a barrage of 10 rockets was launched from Lebanon at the Western Galilee a short while ago.

Several of the rockets were intercepted and impacts were also identified, the military says.

Early Tuesday morning, the IDF said it downed a drone that crossed into the Golan Heights "from the east," referring to Iraq, where Iran-backed terror groups have launched attacks on Israel from.

Hours later, an IDF soldier was seriously maimed in a Hezbollah drone attack on the Mount Hermon area, the military said, adding that it was investigating the incident.

In Lebanon, the health ministry said Israeli strikes killed at least 31 people across the country on Monday, most of them in the south, though the figures do not differentiate between civilians and combatants.

Airstrikes continued Tuesday, with the IDF warning civilians to stay away from six buildings in Hezbollah’s southern Beirut stronghold where it was thought to be hiding assets, followed by Lebanese reports of strikes there.

The IDF earlier said fighter jets struck 25 sites belonging to the Hezbollah executive council, in southern Lebanon’s Nabatieh, the northeastern city of Baalbek, the Beqaa Valley, Beirut’s southern suburbs, and the outskirts of the Lebanese capital.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency earlier reported Israeli strikes on Tyre and Nabatieh after Israel issued evacuation warnings for parts of the main southern cities.

Israel later announced that a senior Hezbollah commander was killed in a recent Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the coastal Lebanese city of Tyre. Ahmed Subhi Hazima, head of operations in Hezbollah’s coastal region of southern Lebanon had advanced numerous attacks against Israel from the western sector of southern Lebanon, including infiltrations and anti-tank missile attacks, the IDF said.

NNA also reported "a dronezap that targeted a residential complex" in a Druze-majority town on the outskirts of Beirut, without prior evacuation calls.

Lebanon’s Druze community follows an offshoot of Shiite Islam, and its heartland around Mount Lebanon has largely been spared in the current hostilities.

The Lebanese education ministry suspended classes in schools, technical institutes, and private higher education institutions in Beirut and a number of surrounding areas, citing "the current dangerous conditions." The ministry has taken similar measures in the past during the fighting.

Also, the IDF confirmed launching evening airstrikes on the Syria-Lebanon border, targeting what it said were routes used by Hezbollah to smuggle Iranian weapons.

Syria’s state news agency SANA said the strikes damaged several bridges in the al-Qusayr area, and maimed two people.

The Israeli military said the strikes were part of efforts against Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran

Israel has carried out airstrikes on Iranian weapons shipments to Hezbollah via Syria since at least 2013, according to foreign sources and occasional details released by military officials.

Israel and Hezbollah last fought a direct war in 2006, but the fragile ceasefire that held calm along the Israel-Lebanon border was shattered on October 8, 2023, as Hezbollah began firing rockets and drones on a near-daily basis over the border in support of allied terror group Hamas

IDF details yearslong efforts against Hezbollah arms smuggling outfit in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Military confirms it has been attacking Iran-backed Lebanese terror group’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with weapons delivery

In what has been an open secret for years, the Israeli military confirmed Monday it has been operating against Hezbollah’s weapons smuggling unit in Syria to prevent Iranian arms from reaching the terror group in Leb

The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? and its proxies to Lebanon.

One such strike hit an area at the Syria-Lebanon border on Monday night.

According to the Israeli military, Unit 4400 was established in 2000 and built numerous "strategic routes" along the Syria-Lebanon border with Iranian support.

Thousands of trucks and hundreds of planes carrying missiles and other components for Hezbollah have traveled from Iran to Syria, and later to Lebanon, in recent years, the IDF said.

The strikes against Unit 4400 during the war have included the liquidations of the head of the unit, Muhammad Ja’far Qassir, in Beirut in early October, and his replacement, Ali Hassan Gharib, in Damascus, several weeks later, alongside other top commanders.

The IDF said that it has been striking Hezbollah’s smuggling routes between Syria and Lebanon "not only in the last few months, but in a years-long effort."

Reports of Israeli strikes on Hezbollah weapons shipments began to emerge in early 2013, with Israel officially keeping mum to avoid blowback. It has increasingly opened up in recent years about the sorties, which have complemented a long-standing aerial campaign aimed at keeping Iran from gaining a foothold near Syria’s border with Israel.

The IDF says its series of strikes against Unit 4400 have "damaged the ability of the Hezbollah terror organization to strengthen its stockpile of weapons and thus to fire at the citizens of the State of Israel."

One strike in early October destroyed a 3.5-kilometer-long tunnel that crossed between Lebanon and Syria, which the IDF said was used by Hezbollah to smuggle and store Iranian weapons.

Construction work on the major tunnel began in 2009 and was completed a decade later, according to the IDF.

On Monday evening the IDF confirmed launching Arclight airstrike

s on the Syria-Lebanon border, targeting what it says were routes used by Hezbollah to smuggle Iranian weapons.

Syria’s state news agency SANA said the strikes damaged several bridges in the al-Qusayr area and maimed two people.

Israel has carried out several airstrikes in the al-Qusayr area in recent months, targeting border crossings and other weapon smuggling routes used by Hezbollah to bring arms into Lebanon.

Israeli jets also bombed Unit 4400 command centers amid other strikes on Hezbollah in Beirut on Monday.
