IDF strikes Hezbollah rocket depot after identifying violations of fresh ceasefire
[IsraelTimes] First strikes since ceasefire come as troops fire warning shots, including drone strike, near vehicles in violation of two-day old truce; Lebanese media report two injured

The Israel Defense Forces said Thursday that it had carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
on a Hezbollah facility in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, less than two days into a fragile ceasefire with the Iran-backed terror group and hours after firing warning shots at suspects who approached border areas that are still off-limits according to the truce.

Fighter jets struck the facility, which was used to hold medium-range rockets, after identifying activity there, according to the military.

"The IDF is deployed in southern Lebanon, acting and thwarting any violation of the ceasefire agreement," the IDF added.

Earlier, the IDF said it fired warning shots in several cases at suspicious individuals in several areas of southern Lebanon. In one case, a drone struck near the suspects as a warning measure.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said two people were maimed in the village of Markaba, close to the border.

Thursday’s two airstrikes were the first since the ceasefire came into effect early Wednesday, in an effort to end over a year of cross-border violence initiated by Hezbollah last October. The ceasefire sets out a 60-day period for Israeli troops to pull out and for new security arrangements to be made. Hezbollah is banned from operating south of the Litani River, several kilometers from the border.

"The arrival of suspects, some with vehicles, to several areas in southern Lebanon was identified, which constitutes a violation [of the ceasefire]," the IDF said in a statement.

It said troops "opened fire" as a warning measure, and will "actively enforce violations of the ceasefire agreement."

In the Markaba area, the IDF said it had fired a warning shot near a vehicle that was not intended to kill the passengers, while troops, artillery, and tanks fired warning shots in other areas.

Lebanese state media and security sources said Israeli fire had hit six areas within the border strip, striking Markaba, Wazzani and Kfarchouba, Khiyam, Taybe and agricultural plains around Marjayoun, all of which lie within 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) of the Blue Line demarcating the border between Lebanon and Israel.

The ceasefire agreement, brokered by the United States and La Belle France, includes an initial two-month ceasefire in which Hezbollah turbans are to withdraw north of the Litani River, about 20 kilometers from the boundary between Israel and Lebanon, and Israeli forces are to return to their side of the border. The buffer zone would be patrolled by Lebanese troops and UN peacekeepers.

Israeli officials have said forces will be withdrawn gradually as it ensures that the agreement is being enforced. Israel says it reserves the right to strike Hezbollah if it violates the terms of the truce.

A Lebanese military official said on Thursday that Lebanese troops would gradually deploy in the south as the IDF withdraws. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

A Lebanese army source said its forces were "conducting patrols and setting up checkpoints" south of the Litani River without advancing into areas where Israeli forces were still present.

In a statement on X on Thursday, the IDF’s Arabic-language front man announced a nighttime curfew in south Lebanon.

"It is strictly forbidden to move or travel south of the Litani River starting from 5 p.m. (1500 GMT) until 7 a.m. tomorrow (Friday). Those south of the Litani River must remain where they are," Col. Avichay Adraee said.

Hezbollah politician Hassan Fadlallah on Thursday accused Israel of attacking people returning to their villages in south Lebanon. The IDF has instructed residents of towns along the border not to return yet, for their own safety.

Lebanon army says Israel violated ceasefire ‘several times’

[IsraelTimes] The Lebanese army accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire “several times” since it went into effect the previous day after more than 13 months of hostilities with Hezbollah.

“The Israeli enemy violated the deal several times,” the army says, citing air strikes and attacks on Lebanese territory with “various weapons.”

Israel said it acted on several occasions to enforce the the ceasefire.

Senior Iranian IRGC adviser said killed in Syria
[IsraelTimes] Iranian media reports a senior military adviser from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was killed in Syria.

According to the reports, Brig. Gen. Kioumars Pourhashemi was killed in western Aleppo.

Syrian rebel groups launched a large-scale attack on areas controlled by government forces yesterday, setting off fierce clashes and seizing territory in western Aleppo.

The offensive was launched the same day that the ceasefire began between Syrian ally Hezbollah and Israel.
Rudaw names him as Brigadier General Kioumars Pour Hashemi, known as Haji Hashem.

#1  Assad's forces were the 'winner' in the Aleppo battle that lasted a half decade and sort of ended in 2016.

Somewhere over 30k casualties in that conflict.

Hezbollah and Russia both helped Assad but the Syrian Govt forces suffered a lot of damage so the 'win' wasn't really worth the cost in a lot of judgements.

Israeli minister reiterates no ceasefire with Iranian proxies in Yemen, Iraq
[IsraelTimes] Minister in the Finance Ministry Ze’ev Elkin reiterates that the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah does not include Iran’s proxies in Yemen and Iraq.

“There is no such commitment. They are not acting to help Hezbollah, but to help Hamas. They are Iran’s proxies and there is no ceasefire with them,” Elkin tells Army Radio.

The Yemeni Houthis have attacked Israel and global shipping for over a year, saying they were doing so in support of Palestinian terror group Hamas. Hamas led an invasion of southern Israel on October 7, 2023, in which some 1,200 people were killed and 251 taken hostage, sparking the war in Gaza.

Israel has also been repeatedly attacked by Iraq’s Islamic Resistance in Iraq.

IDF continuing offensive against Hamas in Gaza’s north and Rafah in south, displays Gaza aid awaiting delivery
[IsraelTimes] The IDF said it was continuing an offensive against Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
in the Strip’s northern towns of Beit Lahiya and Jabalia, launched in October to stop Hamas efforts to regroup in the area.

Fighter jets struck dozens of Hamas weapon depots, buildings used by the terror group and other infrastructure in the area overnight, according to the military.

The IDF said many of the targets were identified based on intelligence obtained from the interrogation of detained terror operatives.

Hamas-run Gazoo

The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. authorities said Thursday that IDF strikes had killed at least 21 Paleostinians across the Strip, as forces stepped up their strikes in central areas and tanks pushed deeper into the north and south of the enclave.

The figures could not be independently verified. Contacted by Rooters, the IDF said its forces were continuing to "strike terror targets as part of the operational activity in the Gaza Strip."

Paleostinian medics said six people were killed in two separate Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on a house and near the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip, while four others were killed when an Israeli strike hit a cycle of violence in Khan Younis in the south.

In the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, Israeli planes carried out several airstrikes, destroying a multistory building and hitting roads outside mosques. At least 11 people were killed in those strikes, according to officials at al-Awda Hospital.

They said in a statement that dozens of families were trapped in their homes after some tanks advanced from the northern area of the camp and that ambulances were unable to reach them because of continued tank fire.

The IDF released footage of one of the airstrikes, targeting a Hamas operative preparing to launch rockets from Jabalia.

The military said the rockets were being set up in a building next to a weapons depot, where several other operatives were holed up. Strikes were carried out against the primed rockets and weapons depot, killing the Hamas operatives, according to the IDF.

In Rafah, near the border with Egypt, tanks pushed deeper into the northwest area of the city, according to Paleostinian residents.

The operations in Gaza took place as a fragile ceasefire halted 14 months of festivities on the northern border initiated by Hezbollah in October 2023 in support of Hamas after its brutal attack on southern Israel.

"God willing, we will have a truce," she said, sitting in the courtyard of a school sheltering displaced families in Khan Younis.

Israel army displays aid to Gaza amid accusations of obstruction

[IsraelTimes] The Israeli army shows foreign media around aid arriving in Gaza via a key crossing amid accusations that Israel is preventing assistance from reaching the Palestinian territory.

International aid organizations have repeatedly warned of the deteriorating conditions in Gaza, saying civilians are starving and aid shipments are now lower than at any time since October 2023 when Hamas attacked southern Israel, triggering the war in Gaza.

Israel blames the inability of relief organizations to handle and distribute large quantities of aid.

During the first media visit including AFP to the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom border crossing, the largest for humanitarian aid, journalists saw trucks carrying aid mainly from Egypt, Jordan, the West Bank and Israel itself.

The aid also comes from UNICEF, Rahma Worldwide and the World Food Kitchen. Distribution is organized by international aid agencies that hire local truck drivers.

“Today we have more than 800 truckloads that are waiting for the international community to take them and deliver them to the people inside Gaza,” says Colonel Abdullah Halabi, who heads the Gaza division of COGAT, the Israeli military unit responsible for overseeing humanitarian needs in Gaza.

He says often the goods wait at the Gaza side of Kerem Shalom, the southernmost entry point from Israel, for “months.”

Halabi rejects claims Israel was not allowing trucks to enter, saying there was no restriction on the trucks or the amount of aid allowed to enter Gaza.

Increasingly flexible Hamas said open to temporary IDF presence at Gaza-Egypt border
[IsraelTimes] As long-moribund ceasefire talks ramp up, New York Times says terror group may give up core demands after ‘reality started to sink in’ following Sinwar’s death and truce in Lebanon

Hamas

is displaying increased flexibility in long-stalled talks for an elusive ceasefire and hostage deal in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. Strip, and may agree to the Israel Defense Forces temporarily remaining on the enclave’s border with Egypt, a report said Thursday.

Citing unnamed US officials, The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported that the Paleostinian terror group could give up on core demands and accept a ceasefire deal that Israel could back.
Given the New York Times is “reporting” it, this may or may not be utter hogwash imagined during a drunken debauch. Or possibly a sober one. Who knows what fabulists like that do when they’re supposed to be working?
According to the outlet, even before a ceasefire was reached between Hezbollah and Israel this week, both Paleostinian and US officials had said they thought Hamas was ready to give up on the strategy professed by slain leader Yahya Sinwar and move toward a deal.
Oh. Well if anonymous, undefined Palestinian and Harris-Biden administration officials say it…
Shortly before his death, Sinwar had told Hamas’s leadership that a long war against Israel was beneficial: "The longer it lasts, the closer we get to liberation," senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan recounted Sinwar saying.

Citing two people familiar with the terror group’s thinking,
…more anonymous sources…
the report said leaders of the terror group have been discussing allowing Israel to maintain a temporary presence in the Philadelphi Corridor, the strategic border area between Egypt and Gaza that Israel’s leadership has pledged not to withdraw from.
So generous of Hamas under the circumstances! (Yes, yes, dear Reader, the sarcasm is indeed implied.)
Jerusalem has insisted that troops remain in Gaza to prevent arms smuggling from Egypt and says it is prepared only for a temporary halt in its campaign to destroy Hamas.

According to the New York Times report, "reality started to sink in" after Sinwar’s death in October, as it became clear that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
was not looking to open a direct conflict with Israel, and Hezbollah was being hit hard by the IDF. Hamas had hoped its allies in the Iranian axis would join in the fight and force Israel to accept a ceasefire on Hamas’s terms.
No worries, guys — Iranian sockpuppets in Iraq and Yemen are still in the game. Granted neither could consistently hit Israel, even when their missiles and drone get through, but surely they get credit for trying.
Hamas leaders are split over the role it should have after the war
…none…
and over the compromises it should make to achieve a ceasefire, according to the American outlet.

Decision-making is hampered by the fact that Hamas has not chosen a leader to replace Sinwar.
Of course. They don’t want him and his successor immediately killed by Israel.
"The solution to Hamas’s military losses is simpler — there’s a pyramid of command and each commander or soldier can be replaced," Hamas member Salah al-Din al-Awawdeh told the newspaper. "But on the political level, things are far more complicated. There will ultimately need to be elections. There are different factions and balances of power. All this makes it hard to predict."

Furthermore, US officials believe that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is waiting for US President-elect Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
to take office in January before making any decisions on his positions around a deal with Hamas, said the outlet, echoing reporting by The Times of Israel.

An Egyptian security delegation was reportedly in Israel on Thursday to jump-start talks to secure a Gaza ceasefire deal and to present Israel with a "comprehensive vision" for an agreement.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal Thursday, Egyptian officials have been in contact with Trump’s staff to gauge whether he could make inroads on softening Israel’s positions in the negotiations, namely regarding control of the Gaza-Egypt border and the creation of a buffer zone between Israel and the Strip.

Egyptian officials have also seemingly sought to soften Hamas’s stance, the paper reported, conveying to the group that its negotiating position had weakened since being "isolated" by the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The officials told the group it would unlikely be able to continue insisting on a full Israeli withdrawal, according to the report.

The Kan public broadcaster reported Thursday that a Hamas delegation was set to head to Cairo in the near future to discuss a potential deal.

According to a report late Wednesday, US President Joe The Big Guy Biden

pressed Netanyahu in a call this week to immediately shift attention back to Gaza with the end of fighting in Lebanon. Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales...
Trump’s incoming administration was also reportedly being approached about pushing Israel toward a deal.

Hamas indicated on Wednesday that it was ready for a truce in Gaza after a ceasefire came into effect in Lebanon with the Iran-backed Hezbollah, which had attacked Israel in support of its ally Hamas starting October 8, 2023, prompting reprisals and later an intensified IDF military campaign that destroyed much of the group.

Officials had expressed hopes that taking the key Hamas ally off the battlefield could help push the Gazook terror group toward an agreement ending the war and freeing hostages in exchange for Paleostinian security prisoners.

Indirect talks aimed at a deal freeing the 101 hostages held in Gaza and ending some 14 months of fighting there have stalled since the summer after multiple rounds of negotiations mediated by the US, Egypt and Qatar failed to bring the sides together.

Hamas has demanded that any agreement bring a complete end to the war in Gaza, along with a full Israeli withdrawal from the enclave. It also seeks the release of large numbers of Paleostinian prisoners in exchange for the hostages, who were among 251 kidnapped during the terror group’s October 7, 2023, rampage in southern Israel; some 1,200 people were massacred during the attack, which prompted the war.

It is believed that 97 of the hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7 remain in Gaza, including the bodies of at least 34 confirmed dead by the IDF.

Europe
Swiss decide against banning Hezbollah
[IsraelTimes] The Swiss government, which previously drafted a law explicitly banning Hamas activities and support for the Palestinian terror group, decided this week against doing the same for Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Parliamentary security policy committees had called for a ban on Hezbollah, but in its response, published today, the federal government says the conditions had not been met.

Switzerland’s Federal Council says the group could not be banned as a threat to security under the country’s intelligence act because the existing law required sanctions or a ban by the United Nations to be in place for such a move to be applied.

It said it banned Hamas over the “unprecedented terrorist attacks” of October 7, 2023, in line with the practice of proscribing organizations on a case-by-case basis only “for extremely serious reasons.”

“Bans on organizations must continue to follow this political line,” it says, judging that it was “not appropriate” to create a new law to ban Hezbollah.

The lower house of parliament’s security committee had said that “like Hamas, Hezbollah is a radical Islamic terrorist organization responsible for numerous acts of violence and human rights violations” which “represents a threat to the stability of the entire region.”

It demanded that the government “issue a comprehensive ban on Hezbollah.”

Parliament will consider the government’s position during its December 2-20 session, and will also vote on the law to ban Hamas, Swiss news agency Keystone-ATS reports.

IDF After Action Report for Hezbollah conflict: Over 12,500 targets hit, 25,000 weapons seized; estimated probability of war resuming is 50%
[IsraelTimes] The IDF publishes a summary of its activities against Hezbollah in the past 14 months, as a ceasefire between between Israel and the terror group appears to hold.

Over 12,500 Hezbollah targets were struck, including 1,600 command centers and 1,000 weapons depots, according to the military.

During the ground offensive, 14 IDF brigade-level task forces participated in it, and separately, over 100 special operations were carried out.

The IDF says it has confirmed with high confidence the deaths of 2,500 Hezbollah operatives, though it estimates that number to be around 3,500.

Among the dead are Hezbollah’s former longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and 13 members of the terror group’s top leadership.

Also among the dead are four Hezbollah commanders at the division level, 24 brigade-level commanders, 27 battalion-level commanders, 63 company-level commanders, and 22 platoon-level commanders.

The IDF says it has captured some 12,000 explosive devices and drones; 13,000 rockets, launchers, and anti-tank and anti-aircraft missile systems; and 121,000 pieces of communications equipment and computers.

Chances of war resuming in Lebanon are 50%, some defense officials said to estimate

Some in Israel’s security establishment are estimating the chances of a resumption of the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon at 50%, according to the Ynet news site.

The report says this is one of the reasons the government is yet to call on the tens of thousands of displaced residents of the north to return to their homes.

“The more the rules and their enforcement are clear from the get-go, the better they will hold up later,” the outlet quotes an unnamed IDF officer as saying.

Noonan's Downfall
[AT] Part of the Establishment Bushie GOP
Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan during a recent conversation with journalist Bari Weiss made some startling revelations.

Noonan calls herself a conservative and was once a speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan. But like most mainstream conservative commentators of that era, Noonan abandoned both her conservative and journalistic principles to devolve into a rabid hater of President Trump.

She believed the hoaxes against President Trump, particularly the Trump-Russia collusion hoax. When she was proven wrong, instead of accepting her mistake, she claimed she didn’t "know what to think of Trump/Russia" and wasn't "satisfied we’ll ever fully understand it."

In such cases, there are no greys. Trump was cleared by probers despite their deep bias against him and their lack of basis for the investigation. But Noonan purposefully tried to leave the door open instead of admitting this obvious fact by feigning confusion.

Noonan's recent utterances proved how deeply she erred while covering Trump. But the sanctimonious seldom possess self-awareness, hence Noonan bragged about her mistake because she thought she was following journalistic ethics.

Noonan claimed when Trump decided to run for president his aides reached out to her for interactions. She claimed that she was hesitant to meet President Trump because she "had a feeling that up close he would be charming and funny, and that there would be something endearing, and that it would mess with my swing as an observer."

"I didn't want to see him up close. I didn't want to see him far away. I wanted- had this intuitive sense [to] see him at a middle distance. And I felt I saw him clearly at a middle distance."

Noonan was conflating intimate relationships with professional interactions. If Noonan had a romantic affair or a friendship with President Trump it would have been inappropriate and would render her unable to report on him objectively. But merely having interactions is not wrong, it is an essential component of covering any leader. Personal interactions present the opportunity to probe the thinking and understand the perspective of the leader. It is not just the words but body language which is often quite revealing. Purposefully not meeting Trump was a gross dereliction of duty on Noonan's part.

Noonan then revealed her experience when she recently met President Trump. "So two or three weeks ago, he came to the Wall Street Journal for an editorial board meeting, and my instinct kicked in again. 'Don't go.' But then I corrected myself,"

Noonan said. "I've been writing about him for eight years. I have occasionally clubbed him like a seal. He has occasionally clubbed me. And it would be so wrong if he came to my newspaper, and he couldn't go there and take retribution or do whatever he wanted to do. It just struck me as the fair, right thing. And so I went."

"So anyway, at a certain point, the doors fly open and the entourage comes in, and there's Trump, who in person in that blue suit and the tie is huge, and the hair is huge, everything is huge. And he, like, blows by others, and he just says to me, ’You are wonderful. You are the most remarkable woman.’"

"...He went on and off the record. But off the record, he was hilarious, rude, inappropriate, said things about foreign leaders that should not be said to a bunch of journalists."

"And I just sat back and thought by the end, 'Honey, your intuition was right. If you'd met him in 2015, you would have loved him and not seen him'" Noonan concluded.

Noonan inadvertently actually confessed she was in awe of Trump. She also admitted her inadequacies as a journalist i.e. she is unable to be objective when the person is warm, affectionate, charming, and funny. But most top elected officials possess star quality and journalists must be able to look beyond the charisma and blandishment to cover the individual as objectively as possible.

What Noonan also unknowingly revealed is that most of these journalists who suffered from 'TDS' weren't doing so out of principle or reason.

The first possible explanation for their inconsolable rage against Trump was that he won landslide mandates and remained popular despite their coordinated campaign against him. With every election, Trump managed to increase his voter base, which is rare in politics. Before Trump, the media was able to destroy individuals, particularly Republicans or conservatives, with a few attacks. They successfully destroyed the political careers of Sarah Palin and the Presidential candidacies of John McCain and Mitt Romney. Because these individuals never had a deep connection with the public. Hence a few hitjobs caused instant abandonment. Trump had rendered the media impotent and irrelevant.

The second possible explanation for the rabidity against Trump is they are acting on orders. This seems plausible because any given day 'experts' across outlets have identical opinions and even individual phraseology for any given incident. These media assassins know Trump isn't Hitler and a threat to democracy but repeat relentlessly because they are operating on orders from nefarious forces in Democrat leadership.

Noonan's trepidation minutes before meeting Trump also revealed that spending prolonged periods in the echo chamber causes divorce from reality. Noonan began to believe her falsehoods that Trump was a vicious beast who would deal with her with extreme brutality. But the opposite occurred.

So what do we make of this?

Since Trump entered politics not a day has gone by in which the mainstream media hasn’t behaved irresponsibly or reprehensibly or immorally. They have accused Trump of some of the worst that any human can be accused of -- treason, bigotry, dishonesty, etc. Noonan is a leading member of this odious group of propagandists.

Trump's reelection proves that they cannot sway a majority of Americans. But the bumbling word salad chef still received 74 million votes, proving the media still influences a significant number of Americans.

Human nature is such that unfairness, baseless targeting, and a defeat due to manipulation cause rage, which causes an individual to be in battle mode which results in the individual being perpetually alert. However, victories bring elation and elation causes people to ease into a relaxed mode and forget about past unfairness.

President Trump must be cautious while dealing with these media vultures.

Noonan may not have revealed the specifics of Trump's off-the-record comments, but even divulging that he made 'inappropriate' remarks about foreign leaders" was a breach of trust and journalistically unethical. In the future, specifics of the utterances could revealed and that will cause an unnecessarily difficult situation especially while conducting diplomacy.

For fair-minded and independent-thinking Americans, abandoning this corrupt and mendacious mainstream media in favor of alternative media is a worthy option.

As always, consumers must be deeply skeptical while consuming any content from any media, and treat everything false until proven true following homework.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
California middle school teacher dies of rabies from bat contact
Attention! Attention! Rantburg U is now in session!
[KFSN] Fresno County health officials have confirmed that a person has died from rabies.

The Public Health Department says it believes the patient was bitten by a bat in Merced County.

The patient, identified as 60-year-old Leah Seneng, was a teacher at Byrant Middle School in Dos Palos.

[A friend] said Leah found a bat in her classroom.

"I don't know if she thought it was dead or what cause it was laying around her classroom and she was trying to scoop it up and take it outside. She didn't wanna harm it. But that's when, I guess it woke up or saw the light or whatever it swooped around a bit and it took off."
Apparently whether or not the victim believed she had been bitten is conjecture at that this point. Bats have very small teeth. Witnessed bat bites have been known to leave NO VISIBLE EVIDENCE of a bite immediately afterward.

Communications from various health authorities continue to be unclear about what to do in case of contact as described above. Basic principle: have nothing whatsoever to do with bats under any conditions, never even touch one. If you wake up in your bedroom some night & find a bat fluttering around, know that you could have just been bitten (no way to really be sure about that since the bites are so hard to detect).

One bit of advice after a possible bat bite is now in doubt. Teaching about what to do with a live bat in your house had been: capture the bat alive (without making contact with it, as if that were possible) and send it to a facility that can test the bat for rabies. If the bat tests negative, no post exposure treatment to prevent rabies is necessary. If the bat proves positive for rabies, initiate post exposure treatment. The time delay for this kind of testing adds no risk for the patient -- that was the reasoning used to justify the delay. Recently a middle aged man in the USA submitted a bat for testing. A day or so later the bat proved positive for rabies. The man THEN received rabies prophylaxis, and died of rabies anyway.

It is safest to seek medical attention for this kind of doubtful exposure to bats and to insist on prophylaxis even over the objection of the physician. A relative recently had a doubtful bite sustained while she was out on her lawn at night (no lighting, bare legged). She went to an urgent care center for prophylaxis. The physician examined her leg, found nothing, and said she would be better off waiting. She didn't agree and insisted on getting the prophylaxis. It was the only way to be sure.

A GoFundMe has been launched for the victim's funeral expenses. Inasmuch as she seemed to be at work during her bat episode, I would think her death should fall under the local workmen's compensation system.

Unfortunately the victim died of ignorance as well as rabies.

Now we all know. Thank you, Elmaper+McGurque1612, for informing us. Many years ago a bat somehow got into our house, which we discovered when the cats crashed into the walls of the upstairs hall trying to catch the silly, scared thing. We trapped it under a laundry basket and released it safely outside without incident — and without touching it — but it would have been tragic to have died without knowing why.

#1  In 1928 my aunt Janet opened a kitchen screen door one hot summer night, a bat flew straight in, collided with her forehead, then flew out as the door slammed shut. Janet fell backwards onto the kitchen floor, then got up. No visible injury at first, then she got a large bruise on her forehead. Weeks later she developed a bad headache, spasms in her throat, then confusion. She was dead within a week or two. My mother and my grandmother both witnessed the incident. Grandmother was very upset and said this was a terrible "omen". Mother remembered how Janet's symptoms progressed. Years later I figured out rabies was the culprit. AFAICT none at the time knew bats could transmit rabies this way. None would have considered getting Janet rabies prophylaxis which was available even then.

#3  In California votes are still being counted for House of Representives. One Republican has seen his big lead wiped out by a newly found bunch of ballots and he has conceded, all for the Democrat and the other Republican is seeing his lead diminish due to the same type of newly found ballots. It looks like the Republican house majority will be slimmer than initially reported.

#4  The cheat is still on, but they can only do it in close races where Dems control the apparatus. Ballots are created and matched to voter records that were not used. The ERIC system which is Dem controlled speeds to process some. Fake voter files are useful, but those can only close a certain amount of a gap. The slow roll is crucial as the documentation has to be shared throughout the process. You can’t have an absentee ballot returned where one was never requested etc. it is all being done in jurisdictions where the Dems have all the levers, absentee ballots are being exploited, and unsolicited absentee ballots are mailed.

Reclusive Rothschild family millionaire dies in housefire in the Hollywood Hills
[Daily Mail] A member of the famous Rothschild family is understood to have died in a housefire in the Hollywood Hills last night.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a blaze the 8500 block of Lookout Mountain Avenue in the Hollywood Hills around 4:40 p.m. PT on Wednesday.

Approximately 45 firefighters took just 33 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish the fire within the two-story ascending hillside home.

The flames were confined to the first floor of the two-story hillside home, and prevented from extending to vegetation or nearby residential structures, the department said.

Upon arrival, fire fighters discovered a deceased elder adult male on the premises whose cause of death is under investigation by the Los Angles County Medical Examiner's Office.

Neighbors told KABC he was Will Rothschild, a member of the prominent British German banking family.

Rothschild was described as reclusive millionaire who multiple properties and dozens of expensive cars.

Some neighbors said they assumed the house was vacant because they had never seen him, and those who did know him were sadden by the news.

Newly-nominated U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer wrote Letitia, saying, “In the aftermath of his historic election victory, President Trump has called for our Nation’s partisan strife to end. This call for unity extends to the legal onslaught against him and his family that permeated the most recent election cycle.”
Already running, though he won’t hit the ground until January 20. Impressive.
"I strongly believe that it is necessary for the health of our Republic for the strife and lawfare to end. You now have the singular opportunity to help cure this division."

Letitia James built her entire political career around the idea of "getting Trump," so I doubt she'll dismiss it, but this is an olive branch from the Trump team. Their message should not be mistaken as begging. They are giving her a choice to either end it here or get exposed & locked up in the next four years.

Alaska native Esther Keim is now in her third straight year of the Alaska Turkey Bomb, a service in which she drops frozen turkeys from a small plane to remote areas of the south-central part of the state.

‘Enough is Enough': Foxx Introduces Bipartisan Bill Prohibiting Aid to Universities That Boycott Israel
[Free Beacon] Rep. Virginia Foxx (R., N.C.), the chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, unveiled a bipartisan bill that would prohibit federal aid from flowing to universities that boycott Israel.

Foxx unveiled the measure, the "Protect Economic Freedom Act," alongside Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D., N.J.) on Tuesday. It would amend the Higher Education Act to bar universities that engage in the anti-Semitic Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement from receiving federal student aid. Under the legislation, universities must submit annual certifications to the Department of Education, showing they are not engaged in a commercial boycott of Israel.

"Enough is enough. Appeasing the antisemitic mobs on college campuses threatens the safety of Jewish students and faculty, and it undermines the relationship between the U.S. and one of our strongest allies," Foxx said in a statement. "If an institution is going to capitulate to the BDS movement, there will be consequences—starting with the Protect Economic Freedom Act."
Pain avoidance is a necessary teaching tool for the stupidly stubborn. Don’t forget to reintroduce it in the next congressional session, when it won’t be blocked by the Democrats in the Senate. — in the meantime it is nothing more than a powerless statement of intent.
In the wake of Hamas's Oct. 7 terror attack on Israel, student radicals across the country mobilized to introduce BDS resolutions aimed at compelling their schools to divest from companies with ties to the Jewish state.

The Powerful and Intelligent Women Joining the Trump Administration
[Breitbart] President-elect Donald Trump been rolling out his Cabinet picks in the days since his election victory against Democrat Vice President Kamala Harris.

Despite claims from Democrats that President-elect Donald Trump is never around "strong, intelligent women," he has, so far, selected ten fierce women for highly consequential positions within his Cabinet and administration.

The selections have been praised by many MAGA Republicans, who view them as people who will "disrupt the system." Trump’s Cabinet picks must go through the Senate confirmation process. However, the president-elect is pushing for recess appointments to avoid delaying the execution of his agenda when he returns to the White House.

Here are the ten women Trump has chosen so far to work in his administration:

1. Chief of Staff: Susie Wiles
2. White House Press Secretary: Karoline Leavitt
3. Director of National Intelligence: Tulsi Gabbard
4. Attorney General: Pam Bondi
5. Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS): Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD)
6. Ambassador to the United Nations: Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
7. Secretary of Education: Linda McMahon
8. Secretary of Agriculture: Brooke Rollins
9. Secretary of Labor: Lori Chavez-DeRemer
10. Surgeon General: Dr. Janette Nesheiwat

Militants advance in Aleppo. 11/28/2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of Boris Rozhin

[ColonelCassad] The SAA is not doing well in Aleppo yet. Despite the fact that the enemy's offensive was stopped in a number of areas with losses for the militants, in others it is still far from stabilization. Moreover, the militants have reached the M-5 highway, which the SAA unblocked back in 2020 during the battle for Saraqib and southern Idlib.

The enemy's offensive cannot be stopped by airstrikes by the RRF Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force alone. Additional SAA reserves are currently being transferred to Aleppo, but it will take some time for them to enter the battle. The task now is to slow down the enemy's offensive and buy time to stabilize the situation after reinforcements arrive and then launch a counteroffensive (see the battle in Northern Hama in 2017, which developed according to a similar scenario).

If the SAA, with the support of its allies, succeeds, then in the future, this failure to break through the front may turn out to be an excellent pretext for transferring the offensive to the militant-controlled part of Idlib, which remained with them following the battles of 2020. But this is still a long way off.

Syrian militants launch offensive in Aleppo region
Syrian rebels have launched an offensive on government positions near Aleppo province. This was reported by CNN.

“According to a statement issued by opposition factions on Wednesday, the rebels captured 13 villages, including the strategic towns of Urm al-Sughra and Anjara, as well as Base 46, the largest base of the Syrian government forces in western Aleppo,” the report dated November 27 said.

The report also said that 37 government troops and allied units were killed during the offensive.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria reported that the Jabhat al-Nusra group (a terrorist organization whose activities are banned in the Russian Federation) is preparing a provocation with the staging of the use of toxic substances in the area of populated areas in the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zone in order to accuse Syrian government forces of allegedly indiscriminate strikes and the use of toxic substances against the population.

In Aleppo countryside, the opposition turns the tables on the Syrian regime
[Ynet] The Aleppo countryside in Syria is witnessing a new military development as Syrian opposition factions and allied groups launched a surprise attack on positions held by Iranian forces and Syrian regime troops.

The battles mark the first significant military operations between the opposition and the regime in northern Syria since the March 2020 cease-fire.

In the early hours of Wednesday, opposition factions including the Sunni Islamist group Tahrir al-Sham launched the battles, ultimately capturing multiple villages and towns in the western Aleppo countryside. Among the spoils was the Syrian Army’s 46th Regiment military base, which had been subjected to near-daily shelling since the regime captured it in February 2020.

At the time of this report, the factions are still engaged in battle.
I kinda hoped for Lebanese factions ganging on Shiites, but - anything that harms Iran is good.

Mainstream Media Suppresses Study Finding DEI Increases Hostility and Causes Psychological Harm
[LI] A report was recently released on a fascinating new study on the impacts of Diversity-Equity-Inclusion (DEI) policies.

According to actual science, implementing DEI results in many unintended consequences, none of which are suitable for businesses or their employees.

New research from the Network Contagion Research Institute (NCRI) and Rutgers University reveals that some diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training methods may cause psychological harm.

The study, released on Monday, shows significant increases in hostility and punitive attitudes among participants exposed to DEI pedagogy covering subjects like race, religion and caste.

This hostile attribution bias may contribute to increased intergroup hostility and authoritarian behavior in the long run, according to study co-author and NCRI Chief Science Officer Joel Finkelstein.

"What we did was we took a lot of these ideas that were found to still be very prominent in a lot of these DEI lectures and interventions and training," said Finkelstein in an interview with Fox News Digital. "And we said, ’Well, how is this going to affect people?’ What we found is that when people are exposed to this ideology,

It appears that mainstream media outlets such as Bloomberg and The New York Times were poised to report on these findings but opted to remain silent on the harms caused by DEI.

Dementia Worsening: Anonymous Washington Clerks Fuel Nuclear War
[Google Translate from regnum] In the final weeks of Joe Biden’s presidency , Washington is in growing disarray. Many of his apparatchiks are desperately trying to cover up their past dealings while simultaneously seeking cushy jobs in the private sector. And no one is willing to take responsibility for the latest decisions, even though they will have far-reaching consequences for the entire world.

Although it is obvious that the decision to provide additional missiles to Ukraine has been made, none of the high-ranking officials in the White House are commenting on this. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan have kept mum. The generals in the Pentagon are also trying to keep a low profile.

In general, it is clear how "popular" this adventure was.

The situation is absolutely paradoxical - the fateful decision to escalate and provoke a third world war is made by anonymous bureaucrats, each of whom is trying to avoid any responsibility. Biden himself is once again and very timely showing the effects of senile dementia, so he is kind of off the hook.

Kamala Harris and her husband have hurriedly left Washington for a vacation in Hawaii. Technically, she has the right to do so — after all, Harris had an exhausting four months of the presidential campaign. But this is also an obvious hint to the growing number of Americans demanding that Biden be removed from power based on the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution. Since he is clearly incompetent and, finally, threatens to start a nuclear conflict.

But for a real coup against the current president, it is necessary to enlist the support of the majority of his cabinet members, along with Harris. She is also terribly afraid of doing anything and taking responsibility. That is why she flew away from the American capital in time, letting everything slide. While members of the White House National Security Council, together with the State Department apparatchiks, are trying to ignite the situation in Ukraine behind Biden’s back and leave Donald Trump with as many problems as possible as an inheritance.

Science & Technology
How Corporations Rob Americans Of The Joys Of Fixing Their Own Property
[Federalist] I recently built a coffee table. This was my first foray into woodworking, so the table is far from perfect — with slight asymmetries and an uneven finish. A level would tell me it misses the mark of an IKEA table’s engineered flatness. But if you’ve ever built something with your hands as a hobbyist, you would know my reaction looking at this table in satisfactory triumph — "Who cares?"

Unfortunately, when it comes to trying your hand at repairing your personal property, certain manufacturers do care, and they’re getting in the way of consumers and hobbyists who just want to get their own electronics, appliances, and vehicles up and running again. This assault on our property rights and agency is at the core of the national push for legislation that secures the "Right to Repair" our personal property and explains why a half dozen states have already codified such a law.

There are innumerable legal and philosophical arguments that support the right to repair, which the Texas Public Policy Foundation addresses in a recent research paper. But I want to return to the coffee table illustration for a moment and pull on the thread of tinkering.

In simple terms, tinkering is the playful relative of engineering. This is where children learn firsthand how things work — what tools can do and the properties of different materials. Tinkering usually starts small with LEGO bricks, but in the case of almost every successful inventor and builder — people like Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Jeff Bezos, etc. — it quickly graduates into taking tech apart and putting it back together, deconstructing a car engine, and other engineering-like activities.

The problem is that many large corporations simply don’t want us to tinker.

Your iPhone? You void the warranty the second you crack it open instead of bringing it to the Genius Bar. A John Deere tractor you want to repair with your grandson? You can’t — John Deere requires that customers bring it into the shop on grounds of copyright law. Your dishwasher? Chances are it’s made by one of 86 percent of appliance companies that do not provide service manuals to customers as they do not recommend self-service (which is code for forcing you to work with one of their partnered technicians they get a kickback from).

Sheet metal cost $110, labor to remove & replace all the other stuff in the way was $1700 - probably more now. I bought an aftermarket core support, parked my F150 in back and replaced the rusted out support with a new one. I had another daily driver, so I could take months in my spare time to do this. I did no welding, but used pop rivets, nuts and bolts to reassemble. I got a few more years of driving out of this. By 2019 the F150 ultimately succumbed to rust.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel warns Syria of ‘direct price’ to pay if it helps Hezbollah rearm
[IsraelTimes] IDF spokesman says military ‘will act’ against all weapon deliveries to Lebanese terror group, including in Syria; Netanyahu says Assad ‘playing with fire’

A series of Israeli strikes on border crossings between Leb
...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and Syria just before a ceasefire with Hezbollah took effect Wednesday morning were intended to set back the terror group’s smuggling efforts, while driving home as a stark warning to Damascus that Israel will take severe action to prevent attempts to rearm Hezbollah with Iranian weapons via Syrian territory.

The Israel Defense Forces has said that amid the truce it would continue to act to prevent all weapon deliveries to the Lebanese terror group, including by striking shipments anywhere in Lebanon or Syria.

"We struck on Syrian soil all attempts to transfer weapons to Hezbollah. If we detect intentions to transfer weapons to the organization — we will act," IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a presser Wednesday night.

In a briefing Wednesday, a senior military official said that the IDF would not just strike the weapon shipments, but Syrian President Bashir al-Assad’s regime would pay for aiding Hezbollah.

"If Syria helps Hezbollah to rebuild, they will pay direct prices. Not only the convoys will be attacked, but there will be prices to pay in Syria as well," the official said.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that "Assad must understand that he is playing with fire" by enabling Iranian shipments to Hezbollah to pass.

In the hours before the ceasefire early Wednesday, the IDF carried out a series of strikes against Hezbollah’s missile program and smuggling routes.

Three border crossings between northern Lebanon and Syria, which the military said were used by Hezbollah to smuggle weapons, were destroyed. The IDF assessed that it would take time to repair the crossings, and during that time, Hezbollah would have limited routes to bring in weapons, which would be easier for Israel to monitor.

Also in the hours before the ceasefire, Israeli fighter jets destroyed the terror group’s largest underground precision-guided missile manufacturing site in Lebanon, near the town of Janta in eastern Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley, the IDF said.

Another major missile manufacturing site, in Syria, was allegedly raided by Israeli special forces in September.

The raid, in the Masyaf area, was said to have been carried out alongside Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on military facilities in the area that reportedly killed at least 14 people and maimed 43.

Local Syrian media reported at the time that the strikes hit the area surrounding the Scientific Studies and Research Center, known as CERS or SSRC, which according to Israel is used by Iranian forces to manufacture precision surface-to-surface missiles for Hezbollah.

Various reports in foreign media claimed that Israeli troops operated on the ground during the action at Masyaf, which lies about 200 kilometers (124 miles) north of Israel, though only about 30 kilometers (18 miles) from Syria’s western coastline.

The reports said that commandos of the Israeli Air Force’s Shaldag Unit rappelled down from helicopters and raided CERS. Israeli troops removed equipment and documents and then laid explosives to destroy the facility.

The IDF has not publicly confirmed the details of the operation.

Earlier this week, the Israeli military detailed its operations against Hezbollah’s weapons smuggling unit.

According to the Israeli military, Unit 4400 was established in 2000 and built numerous "strategic routes" along the Syria-Lebanon border with Tehran’s support to deliver weapons from Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
and its proxies to the terror group in Lebanon.

Thousands of trucks and hundreds of planes carrying missiles and other components for Hezbollah have traveled from Iran to Syria, and later to Lebanon, in recent years, the IDF said.

The strikes against Unit 4400 during the war have included the liquidations of the head of the unit, Muhammad Ja’far Qassir, in Beirut in early October, and his replacement, Ali Hassan Gharib, in Damascus, several weeks later, alongside other top commanders.

The IDF said that it has been striking Hezbollah’s smuggling routes between Syria and Lebanon "not only in the last few months, but in a years-long effort."

Reports of Israeli strikes on Hezbollah weapons shipments began to emerge in early 2013, with Israel officially keeping mum to avoid blowback from Damascus and its allies amid the civil war there.

It has increasingly opened up in recent years about the sorties, which have complemented a longstanding aerial campaign aimed at keeping Iran from gaining a foothold near Syria’s border with Israel.

The military official said Wednesday that preventing Hezbollah from rearming itself, after significant damage to its missile, rocket, and drone stockpiles amid the fighting, was "a central issue" that Israel would be focusing on.

The IDF assesses that Hezbollah retains some 20% of its rockets and missiles and some 30% of its drones, which is still thousands of rockets and hundreds of drones.

If Israel does not act, the official said, the IDF may find itself in another war with a rebuilt Hezbollah in several years.
And if so, it will be the Harris-Biden administration’s delayed legacy.

Government Corruption
While people freeze
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[BizPacReview] FEMA RV trailers sit EMPTY while homeless NC hurricane victims face snow and freezing temps: report

As North Carolina Hurricane Helene victims continue to struggle, FEMA reportedly refuses to deploy empty RV trailers to help them.

According to an unnamed N.C. lawmaker, FEMA has multiple empty RV trailers sitting in the N.C. town of Hickory — trailers that critics say could be used to provide housing to those who’ve lost their homes.

“Don’t use my name, but a constituent called me yesterday asking about all the FEMA housing units and trailers that are staged in Hickory,” the lawmaker wrote in a private message to Cassie Clark, an N.C. influencer.

“They’ve been there for a few weeks. I asked FEMA what they were and confirmed they indeed are housing units staged for inspection waiting to be sent out to ‘qualifying counties.’ I asked for a timeline. Attached is the response. Very disappointing,” the lawmaker added.

The attached response from FEMA read as follows: “At the moment not specific time frame, this would be very depending on each individual survivor that are in the FEMA IA program and also in the process with the counties/cities to look for areas to stage them for the survivors.”
Very Kamalian
According to Matt Van Swol, a reporter and photographer, a non-profit by the name of EmergencyRV has been doing FEMA’s job by providing affected families with an RV if and when possible.

The non-profit did at one point try begging FEMA for access to their empty trailers but were denied.

Speaking later on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Swol called for FEMA to just hand over the RVs and deal with the paperwork later.

“It’s absolutely horrific,” he said of the crisis in N.C. “I mean, there should be zero American citizens living in tents in North Carolina right now. There are plenty of FEMA trailers available for these citizens. They’re sitting maybe 15 miles away.”

“They’re nice and heated, and they’re occupied by FEMA workers. So I put out a post saying that maybe you should get out of those and hand them to the people [who need them] because it’s getting cold outside. So why not just hand them over and deal with the paperwork later?” he added.
They’re bureaucrats. They would self-destruct if they tried to do something without filling out the proper paperwork and getting signatures from everyone in the organization hierarchy.
When confronted by Fox News, a FEMA spokesperson handed over a fact sheet highlighting all that the agency has supposedly done for the Hurricane Helene survivors in North Carolina.

With this fact sheet in mind, host Laura Ingraham asked Swol, “Could it be that people are choosing as the inclement weather is coming to live in these tents?”

Swol’s wife then cut in to answer that question.

“No, they’re basically given a choice,” she said. “We were given a choice. A few days after we got out of Asheville and came back, we got a letter from FEMA with a voucher to a hotel in Tennessee, far away from everyone who needed us here. We came back. We decided to stay.”

“We got denied twice from FEMA, appealed, ended up having to have a generator to take care of our neighbors on either side of us. One’s on a CPAP machine. The other one didn’t have electricity of any kind, including cooked plates. Everyone’s circumstances is incredibly different,” she added.

According to a separate report, FEMA isn’t just denying people access to its trailers — it’s also denying them access to tiny homes built by volunteers.

Meanwhile, the federal government is now claiming it doesn’t have any more money to hand over to Hurricane Helene survivors.
Another one to add to the list. It’s time to shut down FEMA — they’ve become dangerously counterproductive instead of helpful.

#4  Connect to Volunteer

"alert - warning
Do not self-deploy to disaster areas.

Trusted organizations operating in the affected area know where volunteers are needed. Depending on the disaster and the current phase it is in, volunteers can be extremely helpful to ensure survivors can return to their new normal. By working with an established non-profit organization, the appropriate safety, training and skills can be considered.

Recovery lasts a lot longer than media attention. There will be volunteer needs for many months, often many years, after the disaster. Your help often is needed long after a disaster."

Britain
Former UK soldier convicted of handing sensitive information to Iranian government
[IsraelTimes] A former British soldier whose audacious escape from a London prison spurred a dayslong search is convicted of passing on sensitive information to the Iranian intelligence service.

Daniel Khalife,
…more fully Daniel Abed Khalife, the son of a Lebanese father and an Iranian mother who took the queen’s shilling at age 16, he escaped from jail by tying himself underneath a food truck, then was captured four days later on a canal tow path…
23, is found guilty by a jury in Woolwich Crown Court on violations of Britannia’s Official Secrets Act by collecting information useful to an enemy — Iran. He is cleared of a charge of planting fake bombs in his military barracks.

Prosecutors said Khalife played a "cynical game" by claiming he wanted to be a spy after he had delivered a large amount of restricted and classified material to Iran, including the names of special forces officers.
No way of knowing whether the information he handed over was real or invented until the Mossad gets into Iran’s files again…
Khalife testified that he had been in touch with people in the Iranian government but that it was all part of a ploy to ultimately work as a double agent for Britannia, a scheme he said he got from watching the TV show "Homeland."

"I wanted to utilize my background to further our national security," he told jurors.
A noble and romantic thought. But spies do not operate alone — they require handlers from the beginning to ensure their information gets to those who should have it, and that they efforts do not compromise others on the team.
Khalife joined the Army at 16 and was assigned to the Royal Corps of Signals, a communications unit that is deployed with battlefield troops, as well as special forces and intelligence squads.

He was told he could not join the intelligence service because his mother is from Iran.

At 17, he reached out to a man connected with Iranian intelligence and began passing along information, prosecutors said. He was given NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
secret security clearance when he took part in a joint exercise at Fort Cavazos in Texas in early 2021.

British security officials were not aware of Khalife’s contacts with the Iranians until he contacted MI6, the UK’s foreign intelligence service, to offer to work as a double agent.

He reached out to MI6 anonymously, saying he had earned the trust of his Iranian handlers and that they had rewarded him by leaving a bag in a north London park that contained $2,000 cash ($1,578 pounds).

Khalife said most of the material he provided to his Iranian handlers was information he made up or documents that were available online and didn’t expose military secrets.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Under US pressure, security cabinet extends Israel-PA bank ties deal by a year
[IsraelTimes] Move pushed by Biden administration comes after Smotrich insisted on month-by-month renewals; Ben Gvir votes against the measure he says will allow Ramallah to limp on

The security cabinet on Thursday extended a waiver allowing Israeli banks to work with Paleostinian ones for another year — a move pushed by the Biden administration and its Western allies, who feared that failure to do so ahead of a deadline at the end of the week would lead to the collapse of the Paleostinian Authority, an Israeli official confirmed to The Times of Israel.
Without hard, real life consequences, they ‘ll never learn to do better. The odds are that with such consequences they still won’t learn, but the not learning will be cheaper and less fraught for all involved.
For the past two months, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich had only agreed to extend the corresponding banking agreement one month at a time, adding to uncertainty regarding whether the far-right minister would act on his repeated calls to bring down the PA ahead of US President-elect Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
’s return to the White House.

While it stalled the longer extension, Israel said it wanted proof that PA-regulated banks complied with international statutes on counter-terrorism and anti-money laundering. The Treasury Department said in October that the PA had met both of the requirements laid out by Israel.
Uh huh. Sure they did.
Ahead of the security cabinet vote, ministers were presented with the National Security Council’s position in favor of a one-year extension, due to concerns that failure to do so would have major security and diplomatic repercussions, the Israeli official said, confirming a report on the Axios news site.

After the security cabinet vote, Smotrich suggested that he had leveraged Israel’s extension of the banking deal to ensure that the US would not allow the Security Council to pass a resolution recognizing a Paleostinian state. A Biden administration official told The Times of Israel that no such initiative had been in the cards.

Nonetheless, Smotrich had been concerned that it was and told associates of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he would [not] authorize another extension of the banking deal unless the US made clear that it would not advance a UN Security Council Resolution against Israel, the US official said. Netanyahu aides reached out to their counterparts in the Biden administration, who assured them that Washington’s policy on the matter had not changed.

The administration has repeatedly come out against efforts to unilaterally recognize a Paleostinian state, asserting that the outcome should be the culmination of negotiations between the parties. But some in Jerusalem feared the step would be reconsidered before US President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing...
wraps up his term in office.

The US official said the administration was still considering other steps to boost prospects for a two-state solution before the end of the lame-duck period.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir tweeted on Thursday evening that he had voted against extending the banking cooperation deal, blasting fellow cabinet members who have talked of collapsing the PA only to back a measure that would allow Ramallah to limp on.

The Paleostinian economy relies heavily on the banks’ relationships with their Israeli counterparts to process transactions made in shekels, as the PA does not have its own currency. Some NIS 53 billion ($14 billion) were exchanged at Paleostinian banks in 2023, according to official data.

US officials have warned that failure to maintain banking relations between Israel and the Paleostinians would turn the West Bank into a "cash economy," which would benefit terrorist organizations in the territory and make it harder for the already-weakened PA to fight such groups.
It can’t possibly be harder — PA staff are involved up to their eyebrows.
The West Bank economy has been in dire straits over the past year, as tens of thousands of Paleostinian day laborers were denied entry into Israel during the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. Fifth Column
Anti-Israel protesters disrupt Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade; 21 arrested
Follow up to this story from yesterday.
[IsraelTimes] NYPD steps in as demonstrators jump over barriers, sit on parade route with a banner reading ‘Don’t celebrate genocide,’ chant ‘Free, free Palestine’

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade marched, soared and roared into its second century on Thursday despite a drenching rain and a brief disruption from pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel demonstrators.

New York City police said they arrested 21 people after protesters jumped barricades and sat down on the parade route with Palestinian flags and a “Don’t Celebrate Genocide” banner. They chanted “Free, free Palestine!” as a giant Ronald McDonald balloon bore down on them on Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue.

People protesting Israel’s war in Gaza also interrupted last year’s parade.

This year’s parade featured 17 giant, helium-filled character balloons, 22 floats, 15 novelty and heritage inflatables, 11 marching bands from as far away as Texas and South Dakota, 700 clowns, 10 performance groups, award-winning singers and actors, and the WNBA champion New York Liberty.

“The work that we do, the opportunity to impact millions of people and bring a bit of joy for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving morning, is what motivates us every day,” said Will Coss, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade executive producer.

The parade route stretched 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) from Manhattan’s Upper West Side to Macy’s Herald Square flagship store on 34th Street, which served as a performance backdrop.
The firebrands entered the parade route at West 55th Street and Fifth Avenue, stopping the Ronald McDonald balloon in its tracks around 9:25 a.m., police said — and drawing loud jeers from parade-goers screaming at the killjoys to move.

NYPD officers quickly descended upon the group, who shouted “Free, free Palestine!” as they were tackled to the ground and placed in handcuffs.

Cops cuffed about 25 protesters “without incident” and hauled them away to face pending charges, police said – but the arrests appeared more violent than the NYPD’s account.

The rabble rousers were carted to One Police Plaza, where they spent hours during their Turkey Day in the NYPD’s mass arrest processing center, sources said.

”This is disgusting,” said a Brooklyn cop. “There are times and places to peacefully protest, but not the Thanksgiving day parade. This a day for families to enjoy and not be interrupted by these a–holes.”

The protesters were “autonomous anti-genocide activists,” independent reporter Talia Jane posted on X,
…that should be ”independent reporter” — the X post linked in the article is from an account that definitely belongs to a Black Bloc/Antifa cadre…
along with a viral video viewed 1 million times showing them hop barricades, block the Ronald McDonald balloon and sit in the street.

Their antics only disrupted the parade for about five minutes.

The protests during the parade Thursday appeared less disruptive than last year’s, when officials said cops arrested about 40 agitators.

Two people waiting outside NYPD headquarters for protesters to be processed declined to comment to The Post.

City Hall spokeswoman Kayla Mamelak called this year’s disruption “disrespectful.”

“Interrupting New York City’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to protest a conflict overseas is disrespectful and accomplishes absolutely nothing,” she said.

“They have won over no one, and, instead, have just disrupted a fun day for thousands.”

But protesters didn’t confine their antics to the parade.

PrankstersBlack Bloc activists revolutionaries hung banners from the Queensboro Bridge decrying “genocide” and blaring “Free Palestine, free the land, free them all.”

The banners were as much a pro-Palestinian message as an anti-Thanksgiving one, according to a “communique” apparently from the protesters posted by Jane, the independent reporter.
Real reporters don’t post communiques — that’s the job of spokesmen. Way to out yourself, Jane.
“On the holiday where this fascist empire commemorates its first but not only genocide, a group of autonomous organizers remind us that fascism here or anywhere is linked to genocide here and everywhere,” it read. “The only solution is global Intifada. LAND BACK NOW.”
You give up America and go back to wherever your ancestors came from first, Jane dear. Show us how it should be done.

A strong magnetic storm is expected on Earth on November 29
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Strong magnetic storms are predicted on Earth on November 28 and 29. This was reported on the website of the IKI and ISTP solar astronomy laboratory.

It is noted that a weak magnetic storm of level G1 is expected late in the evening of November 28. After 06:00 Moscow time on November 29, a stronger six-point wave of level G2 will hit the Earth, which will continue until 12:00 Moscow time.

At the same time, according to the forecast for December, after the storm on November 29, the Earth’s magnetosphere will be in a calm state almost until the end of the year.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, in early October, a level X flare occurred on the Sun, which caused a plasma ejection in the direction of the Earth and a magnetic storm. According to scientists, this occurred exactly along the Sun-Earth line, while the geometric dimensions of the ejection exceeded possible calculation errors.

Later, on October 28, a plasma cloud with a speed of about 600 km/s and a temperature of about 700 thousand degrees reached the Earth. Two active spots 3842 and 3848 are on the side of the Sun visible from the Earth, which caused powerful magnetic storms at the beginning of the month.

Iran injects gas into new centrifuges ahead of nuke talks with European powers
[IsraelTimes] UK, France and Germany to participate in talks with Tehran despite backing IAEA censure, as Islamic Republic seen willing to engage with West ahead of Trump taking office

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
has begun inserting uranium gas into newly activated advanced centrifuges, the country’s top nuclear official said Thursday, ahead of planned talks with European powers aimed at curbing its enrichment activities and stepping up inspections.
The agenda includes discussions, earnest discussions, clarifying discussions, frequent breaks for snaks and meals, and the finest of hired companions for amusement in between. Nowhere will actual commitment to desist enrichment occur.
The announcement by Iran Atomic Energy Agency head Mohammad Eslami came after Britannia, La Belle France, and Germany joined with the United States to have Tehran censured by the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors last week for continuing to ramp up uranium processing while failing to cooperate with inspectors.

The insertion of uranium gas is a necessary step to activate the centrifuges, which work by rapidly spinning the element to increase the proportion of the fissile isotope U-235.

In a defiant response to the UN watchdog’s resolution, Tehran announced this week it was activating "new and advanced centrifuges," further advancing its nuclear program, which already enriches uranium at near-weapons-grade levels and boasts a stockpile enough for several nuclear bombs if it chooses to pursue them.

The IAEA said in June that Iran had begun spinning new centrifuges, and planned to deploy more.

Despite last week’s resolution, Iranian officials have also signaled a willingness to engage with the West ahead of the return of US President-elect Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and whatever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th and 47th President of the United States...
, whose last administration pursued a policy of "maximum pressure" against the Islamic Theocratic Republic.

Iranian diplomat Majid Takht-Ravanchi, who serves as the political deputy to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is scheduled to represent Iran in talks Friday with Britannia, La Belle France, and Germany.

IAEA report says Iran plans uranium-enrichment expansion at Natanz, Fordow

[IsraelTimes] Iran has informed the UN nuclear watchdog of plans to install more uranium-enriching centrifuges at its Fordow and Natanz plants as well as bring machines recently installed there online, a confidential report by the watchdog says.

The International Atomic Energy Agency report to member states seen by Reuters makes no mention, however, of Iran’s enrichment to up to 60% purity, close to nuclear weapons-grade. Eight new cascades, or clusters, of advanced IR-6 centrifuges at Fordow would enrich to up to 5% purity, Iran informs the IAEA.

German police arrest teenage suspect over alleged pipe bomb plot
[IsraelTimes] German authorities say they arrested a teenager suspected of planning an Islamist pipe kaboom.

Police found two bayonets, four pieces of piping and items suspected to be used to make a detonator in his home in the western district of Mainz-Bingen, they say.

The suspect, who is not named, was "radicalized online" and had shared "propagandistic content" on social media, the Koblenz prosecutor’s office says.

The teenager "glorified the crimes" of the Islamic State

He had "obtained instructions online on how to make pipe bombs and explosives," Sherlocks say.

There was no indication that the suspect was on the verge of carrying out an attack, prosecutors say, with no explosives found during the searches.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: November 28, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 21:47 Western media reported that the Ukrainian military destroyed the 64N6 radar, also known as Nadgrabbiye, a key component of the Russian S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

20:33 President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin is again advertising his missiles, demonstrating his readiness to continue the war and disrupt peace initiatives. The head of state noted this in an evening video address on Thursday, November 28.

20:26 The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry confirmed that the topic of mobilization and lowering the mobilization age is indeed discussed during negotiations with Western partners. But Kiev believes that the bigger problem now is the slowdown in the supply of already promised weapons.

18:49 Spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Georgiy Tykhyi said that Ukraine hopes to have positive movement on the issue of consultations with NATO to strengthen the skies over Poland with the possible further transfer of Polish MiG-29s to Ukraine.

17:18 Since the beginning of the day, 80 battles have taken place on the front. The occupiers are making their main efforts in the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsky directions. They are also active in the Limansky, Kupyansky and Vremivsky directions. This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

16.55 Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, answering a question about strikes on "decision-making centers" in Ukraine, said that "today, during the day, anything is possible."

The propagandist asked the head of the Kremlin about the strikes on "decision-making centers" in Kyiv. To which Putin replied: "There was such a joke about the weather forecast. Here is the forecast: "today during the day everything is possible."

In Kherson, electric transport is temporarily out of service, and water supply interruptions are possible. Schools in Rivne and part of the Rivne region are switching to distance learning. This was reported by the leadership of these regions.

9.35 Falling debris was recorded in two districts of Kiev as a result of a Russian missile attack. This was reported by the Kyiv State Aviation Administration. In the Dniprovsky district, debris fell on an open area. In the Darnitsky district, on the territory of an enterprise.

This was reported by the General Staff. One tank, two combat armored vehicles, 22 artillery systems, and 45 operational-tactical level UAVs were destroyed in one day.

9.17 In Nikolaev, due to the introduction of emergency power outages, public transport is not working. Also, educational institutions are closed today. This was reported by the mayor of Nikolaev, Alexander Senkevich.

06.40 Energy Minister German Galushchenko reported that the energy sector has been subjected to a massive attack by the Russian Federation. According to him, strikes on energy facilities are taking place throughout Ukraine. Ukrenergo is urgently introducing emergency power outages.

05.04 Russia launched seven Tu-95MS strategic bombers. After the missiles were launched, explosions were heard in Odessa, Pavlograd and the Kirovograd region.

03:30 The administration of US President Joe Biden is preparing a $725 million military aid package for Ukraine, which should be officially announced by next Monday, Reuters reports. The package will be the largest use of the presidential power (Presidential Drawdown Authority, PDA) to urgently release weapons from US stockpiles. Previously, such packages were usually $125-250 million, and Biden now has access to another $4-5 billion in PDA approved by Congress.

Netanyahu says ready for ceasefire in Gaza to free hostages, but won’t end war; N. ordered IDF to be ready should Hezbullies breaks ceasefire
[IsraelTimes] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that he would accept a pause in the war in Gaza, speaking in his first interview since the ceasefire in Lebanon. “I am ready for a ceasefire in the south when we think we can achieve the release of the hostages,” he says to the rightwing Channel 14. “I am ready for a ceasefire at any time.”

At the same, he stresses that he will not accept an end to the war, a core Hamas demand. Without going into details, Netanyahu says Israel is doing “many many things” to try to reach a deal.

Now that there is a ceasefire in Lebanon and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is dead, the conditions have significantly improved for a hostage deal with Hamas, he argues.

“Hamas hoped that Iran would come to save it, it did not happen; it hoped that the Houthis would come to save it – it did not happen,” he says, “but above all it hoped that Hezbollah would come to save it, and indeed Nasrallah said on the second day when he attacked, ‘We will continue until Israel stops its attacks on Hamas.’ There is no Hezbollah [at Hamas’s side now]. That’s why I think the conditions have changed very much for the better, not only because of the separation of the theaters but also because of the… elimination of Sinwar.”

He says the conditions in Lebanon are different than in Gaza: Israel is trying to destroy Hamas, whereas in Lebanon at this stage it is working to prevent Hezbollah from rearming. While Israel can prevent arms smuggling in Lebanon by bombing border crossings and striking in Syria, that can’t happen in Gaza, because Israel won’t attack Egypt. Therefore, Israel has to remain on the Philadelphi corridor, the road on the Egypt-Gaza border, he insinuates.

Netanyahu says that he accepted a ceasefire in Lebanon because “we achieved exactly what we intended to achieve.”

More from the interview:
Netanyahu says he ordered IDF to prepare for ‘intensive war’ if Hezbollah breaks ceasefire

[IsraelTimes] In his first interview since the ceasefire in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that if Hezbollah doesn’t adhere to the rules, there will be “intensive war.”

“I gave the IDF instructions,” says Netanyahu, speaking to the right-wing Channel 14, “if there is a massive violation of the agreement, not only will we operate surgically like we are doing now, and with force, every time. I said, if there is a massive violation of the agreement, I instructed the IDF to prepare for an intensive war.”

Netanyahu was gathering advisors tonight for a meeting on the continuation of the war on its various fronts, Channel 13 reports.

To Channel 14’s Yaakov Bardugo, Netanyahu says the ceasefire in Lebanon “can be short,” and that Israel “enforced it on its first day.”

Asked why Israel is not creating a buffer zone in southern Lebanon, Netanyahu notes that the “threat of a ground invasion has been removed.”

He says that the IDF destroyed the aboveground infrastructure on the border, and the underground bunkers and tunnels.

Residents of the north “will return in stages, when they feel that what I’m saying is correct.”

On Iran’s nuclear program, Netanyahu will not promise that Iran won’t attain a nuclear weapon, instead saying “I will do everything so that Iran won’t be nuclear.”

Alaska Air, Delta targeted in Seattle airport pollution lawsuit
[FoxBusiness] The lawsuit targets the two airlines claiming they "operate about 80% of flights at Sea-Tac Airport, thereby causing most of the pollution"

A class action lawsuit against Alaska Air Group and Delta Air Lines about the effects of aircraft emissions near the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport is moving forward as plaintiffs allege that pollution has caused physical harm, death and property damage.

The lawsuit was allowed to move forward after a Seattle federal judge rejected the airlines' bid to have claims from Washington residents tossed, according to court documents.

Residents in the lawsuit described a five-mile radius around the airport as a "contamination zone."

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
‘Save Lebanon from Iran’ says Shia Iman in Lebanon
[Newsweek] ...I say this as an imam of the Shia community in Lebanon—the biggest threat to Lebanon and the Middle East is the radical ideology of Iran's regime. While a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah is a welcome reprieve, it merely marks the beginning of the real challenge. The only way to secure a long-term peace in Lebanon is to actively roll back the Iranian regime's control of our country, and of other vulnerable nations in the region. That work must begin today.,,,Lebanon's Shia are not people of violence, nor do we wish to be known as such. It is time to reclaim our authentic identity, based on intellect, tolerance, and mutual respect. By holding on to our faith and values, many of us now reject the barbarism of Hezbollah, and seek coexistence, prosperity, and security alongside our fellow citizens and neighbors.

UN Resolutions 1559 and 1701, which call for the disarmament of Hezbollah and the re-establishment of Lebanese sovereignty, are the only hope that my community has to give a better life to our children. However, if the current ceasefire is not enforced, as was the case after the Second Lebanon War in 2006, then Iran and Hezbollah will immediately start the countdown to the Fourth Lebanon War.

During the evacuation of the trophy, the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted a real hunt for the Russian tank crew. The vehicle was shelled by enemy artillery, hit by drones and even pursued by "Baba Yaga".

Several Jewish BBC journalists said to quit union over call to wear Palestinian colors
[IsraelTimes] Several Jewish journalists at the BBC have quit their union after it called on members to wear clothes in Paleostinian colors or a keffiyeh as part of a Day of Action for Paleostine, the UK’s Jewish News reports.

Several members of the National Union of Journalists felt that the call crossed the line in violating the BBC’s neutrality.
Ya think?!
One BBC staffer tells the Times, "BBC journalists, who pride themselves on impartiality and who fought to keep their NUJ free of politics, are being encouraged to break the BBC’s editorial guidelines by supporting a political cause."

The staffer says they are reconsidering their NUJ membership after the "hypocritical and antisemitic" action.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Military and civilians. Russians unite to liberate Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Velesov

[REGNUM] Russian military continues to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces and foreign mercenaries out of the Kursk region. The Defense Ministry does not report what operations the Russian army is conducting - this is a military secret - and which settlements have already been liberated. At the same time, the department reports enemy losses.

As of November 27, the Ukrainian army lost more than 36,000 soldiers in the Kursk region. In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost a large amount of military equipment, including 223 tanks, 157 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), 122 armored personnel carriers, and 1,199 armored combat vehicles.

In turn, the servicemen continue to surrender to save their lives. The day before, a mass surrender in the Kursk region was captured on video. Boris Rozhin, an expert at the Center for Military and Political Journalism, published footage of a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war on his Telegram channel.

The video shows eight men in camouflage sitting in a room with their hands tied behind their backs and duct tape in front of everyone. Rozhin explained that the safest way for the Ukrainian Armed Forces is for the entire position to surrender without resistance.

The method is safe, among other things, because this way “their own” cannot get to them. The day before, the platoon commander of the 810th separate guards brigade of the Black Sea Fleet marines with the call sign Bakh said that Ukrainian soldiers tried to kill the British mercenary James Scott Rhys Anderson, who surrendered in the Kursk region.

A fighter who took part in the capture of a stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces told journalists that during the rescue of prisoners, the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to fire on their own. The Ukrainians fired at the prisoners using FPV drones and mortars. According to Bakh, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked while they were crossing the river. The marines risked their own lives to rescue the prisoners. Everyone was shocked by the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Bakh noted, and the Briton realized that his own people wanted to kill him.

The Leninsky District Court of Kursk found at a hearing on November 25 that Anderson, as part of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, illegally crossed the Russian state border and participated in military operations. The court remanded the British mercenary in custody.

THEY HID FROM THE ENEMY IN THE FORESTS FOR TWO MONTHS
The war came to the Kursk region on August 6 — with the Ukrainian army, mercenaries, Western missiles and deadly drones. The participants in the invasion showed their goals right away. Moreover, it became a kind of bravado — to loot some supermarket, film it and put it on public display.

Ukrainian soldiers are literally dragging everything that is lying around from the Kursk region. A telling incident occurred at the end of October. A Russian drone captured Ukrainian soldiers trying to tow away a VAZ-21 099 passenger car, which was filled to the brim with the stolen property of the region's residents. The criminals failed to complete their plan - they were punished by two Russian combat UAVs.

In turn, war correspondent Yevgeny Lisitsyn wrote on his Telegram channel that in Goncharovka, Ukrainian soldiers are “looting” literally every house. However, a similar picture could be observed earlier in other regions, for example, in the part of the Kherson region controlled by Kiev.

But while the Ukrainian military is looking for an opportunity to show off and line its pockets, Russian soldiers demonstrate courage and fortitude. A telling incident occurred during the fighting in the Sudzhansky district: the deputy platoon commander was wounded in the leg. Together with a 19-year-old soldier, they hid in the forests for two months, keeping their personal weapons. Only when the commander was able to move independently, they contacted the command and came to their own.

FAMILY REUNIFICATION AND VOLUNTEERS FROM ALL OVER RUSSIA
On November 22, the Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova reported the return home of 46 residents of the Kursk region who were taken by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to the territory of Ukraine. Negotiations on the return of the remaining residents of the region are ongoing. Behind this fact is the painstaking work of many people: negotiators, mediators, human rights activists.

In addition to the efforts of the state, numerous volunteers play a huge role in helping residents of the Kursk region. This work is not only difficult, but also dangerous: often it is necessary to act near the front line, where local residents still remain.

But even where there is no risk to life, the importance of volunteer work is invaluable. For example, the Russian branch of the Red Cross has a special group of volunteers who help people find their relatives from the Kursk region with whom they have lost contact.

Andrey Maltsev, a specialist in restoring family ties with the Russian Red Cross in the Kursk region, said that they once managed to find the mother of one of the local men. The search took a whole month and was ultimately successful, after which the man thanked the searchers with tears in his eyes.

"Of course, this (personal gratitude from people. - Ed.) gives strength, gives joy and hope that everything will be fine and that we are doing a good, noble deed," Maltsev said. According to him, during this time they have helped reunite more than 700 families.

Russians from all over the country have set out to help those in need in the Kursk region. Everyone is making a contribution, whatever they can.

"The number of volunteers is growing day by day. In addition to Kursk residents, they come from all regions of Russia. I would like to say a special thank you to these people who voluntarily, from the heart, go, help, send help, support, food and things. A huge thank you to everyone, to all regions of Russia," said Acting Governor of Kursk Region Alexey Smirnov.

Volunteering unites different people. For example, student teams collect about three thousand food packages daily.

In addition to simple volunteers, people who own firearms — hunters — are also traveling to Kursk Oblast. One of them, a resident of Krasnodar, told journalists that he could not calmly watch what was happening and went to the border area.

"I'm 53 years old, I'm not much of a warrior, I guess. I can't run because of problems with my spine. But I still have a gun at home from the time I went on tours. I don't need it, but it could save someone's life. So why should I sit quietly at home when there's trouble in my country and people are dying at the hands of the fascists? I got ready and went to Kursk. At night, I sit there, guarding a store. It's even funny sometimes, like in "Shurik's Adventures" near a warehouse. Thank God, I haven't had to shoot yet," the man said.

According to him, they had to help people evacuate.

"We came to "cover" a family in Krasnooktyabrskoye. Granny, she is 86 years old, she can barely walk. She cries, she does not want to leave the house. But her grandchildren persuaded her, one great-grandson was with her. There is whistling and rattling all around, but she seems not to hear. She just leaned on the door and cried that "she will not be able to go to her grandfather's grave anymore."

We barely managed to calm her down, promised that everything would be fine, our guys wouldn't give up, we would bring her home. And we were standing there thinking: are they going to "let us out" of here right now? They were shooting recklessly, and another guy and I were just watching and trying to figure out if we would have time to shoot back if something happened - we weren't military, after all," the former hunter shared.

PROFESSIONAL DUTY AND EVERYDAY HEROISM
One of the legacies of military action is the land filled with explosives, unexploded ordnance and mines. The echoes of war can sound for many decades after the end of the hot phase of the fighting, taking more and more lives.

An important role in eliminating this threat is played by specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Today, their work is called “humanitarian demining,” the goal of which is to minimize risks to the population.

Devotion to professional duty can sometimes cost lives. At the end of September, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said farewell to the tragically deceased head of the pyrotechnic department of the pyrotechnic and special canine operations department of the Lider center, Vyacheslav Tsoffka.

"Our colleague was a professional. He participated in humanitarian demining in our country and abroad and each time risked his life. Since 2022, Vyacheslav has repeatedly traveled to the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics to carry out a noble mission," said the head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov.

The tragedy claimed the life of a highly experienced professional, mentor and friend, he added.

Ivan Naumov's name became widely known back in August. The senior fire instructor of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is originally from Korenevo. On the day of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion, he went to the regional center on business. Returning, he saw a line of civilian cars, filled with things: people were hastily leaving the area of the unfolding military actions. Neighbors took his wife and their children away, but Naumov did not turn around and continued on to his native village.

By that time, Korenevo had already lost power and water, and the sounds of gunfire were becoming more frequent and closer. The rescuer began to evacuate the people remaining in the village. He made 5-6 trips a day, evacuating about a hundred people.

Among others, he saved an elderly woman, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a participant in the Battle of Stalingrad. She was carried out of the house on a blanket, carefully placed in a car and surrounded with pillows to make the ride more comfortable. The woman heroically endured all the trials.

In turn, Naumov emphasizes that he himself has done nothing heroic. He considers the real heroes to be those who are now liberating his native land with weapons in hand.

Ruble Collapse: Why the Dollar is Growing and What Will Happen to Prices on Everything
Direct TRanslation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Egor Aladin

[REGNUM] The last few days have been extremely nervous for the ruble exchange rate: yesterday it fell from 105 to 108 rubles per dollar, today it is weakening again. But the panic after yesterday's decision by the Central Bank to stop buying currency has been stopped. What do the Central Bank's actions mean, how will they affect exchange rates, and what dollars should you look for in exchange offices?

There are several fundamental reasons for the weakening of the ruble. Since Donald Trump's victory, the dollar has been strengthening against major world currencies. According to the International Monetary Fund, it accounts for 80% of trade transactions.
So just about the entire world believes President Trump will be better for the economy, despite how much most of them claim to loathe him? Fascinating.
In addition, over the last thirty years in Russia, the dollar has always strengthened by the New Year - companies close deals and master budgets. The population prepares for trips abroad and buys currency, the market responds to increased demand by increasing the price, that is, the exchange rate.
A legitimate point. Stock prices drop after stock dividend payouts, though.
But the main reason for the weakening of the ruble, which we are seeing in real time, is the latest geopolitical events and sanctions, which have now affected about 95% of the entire Russian banking system. Now including Gazprombank, the main clearing bank for international commodity transactions.

Panic, which traditionally overtakes Russians during sharp fluctuations in the exchange rate, added two or three rubles to the exchange rate. As economists say, objectively, the dollar in the current conditions cannot cost more than 110 rubles, that is, forecasts of 120-150 rubles are devoid of economic basis. Unless, of course, geopolitical tensions enter a new round.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE CENTRAL BANK DOING?
During a period of panic, communications with the population must be simple and clear. Unfortunately, the Central Bank issued a release yesterday with a clear delay, and it turned out to be so jaw-dropping that it needs to be translated, although it calmed the situation in many ways.

So, the Central Bank announced that it will not buy currency on the domestic market "as part of mirroring the regular operations of the Ministry of Finance related to the implementation of the budget rule." At the same time, it will continue operations to sell currency for the use of the National Welfare Fund (NWF).

The meaning of the budget rule is simple: if there is a lot of oil and gas revenue (the base figure is 8 trillion rubles per year), then the surplus goes to the National Welfare Fund by purchasing Chinese yuan. If oil and gas revenues fall, then the Central Bank, on the contrary, sells the currency. The Central Bank buys and sells currency on behalf of the Ministry of Finance, that is, it acts as its agent. At the same time, to finance investment projects and current expenses, the Central Bank must sell part of the reserves. That is, carry out two operations simultaneously.

Since yesterday, the Central Bank had to buy 4.2 billion rubles of currency daily for the Ministry of Finance and sell the equivalent of 8.4 billion for budget needs. It is clear that there is a "mutual offset" or mirroring of these transactions. As a result, 4.2 billion rubles of currency entered the market. Now there will be twice as much to reduce the excitement.

The Central Bank has acted in a similar way before to stabilize the exchange rate - most recently in 2023. Then the moratorium on the purchase of currency lasted for four and a half months, and, characteristically, also in the second half of the year.

All other things being equal, the rate will be trying to find its balance in the near future. It is not yet clear how sanctions will affect the inflow of currency to our market in the short term, so sharp upswings and downswings in the rate are quite possible.

At closed meetings at the Central Bank regarding the organization of international settlements, such security rules apply that no leaks are possible, but they are not in the interests of participants in foreign economic activity. "Work is underway" is the most that can be heard from officials. Therefore, the actions that the Central Bank will take after the Americans "sanction" Gazprombank are a closely guarded secret. And anyone who claims to know the regulator's decision for sure is an info-gypsy and a swindler.

The main thing is that there are bypass and maximally non-public ways to receive foreign currency earnings to the accounts of Russian banks, but, unfortunately, they require additional costs that will be passed on to the final recipients. Including households, that is, to the wallet of an ordinary citizen.

WHAT SHOULD PEOPLE DO?
In principle, there are no particular problems buying non-cash currency at a bank or through unsanctioned brokerage companies. Another issue is that the difference between the purchase and sale rates may grow even more. And this currency cannot be withdrawn in currency itself - only in rubles.

The issue with cash is completely different. As is known, the import of dollars and euros in the form of banknotes is prohibited in Russia. But there are ways to deliver them, and no one will talk about them openly, of course. Even in sanctioned banks, you can buy cash dollars and euros - and it is easier to do than last year. There are no queues at exchange offices.

Even such banks offer the services of their partners to open Visa and MasterCard cards of foreign banks, primarily Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Armenian, with the ability to transfer funds in rubles.

Thus, travelers, especially those who do not know how or do not want to deal with cryptocurrency, have a real opportunity to use all the usual services abroad. Such a real alternative to buying cash can also have a positive impact on the exchange rate in exchange offices on the eve of the New Year holidays.

This will allow us to avoid another problem - the so-called old dollars. They are practically not accepted by Russian banks and are hardly accepted - and not everywhere - in popular tourist countries: Turkey, Vietnam, Thailand, UAE. This happens because the banknotes then need to be physically transported to the US for destruction, and transporting money costs money.

In the case of domestic banks, such transportation is simply impossible due to sanctions, and the costs of air transportation are also quite high. Therefore, our citizens are faced with the fact that they have money in the form of solvent banknotes, but they are practically impossible to spend.

Moreover, "old dollars" do not refer to the banknotes issued in the early nineties, as most citizens think. The old ones are those that are quite in use here, and the "new" ones are the banknotes with a blue 3D stripe, issued since 2013.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO PRICES?
In November, the ruble fell by 11% against the dollar, while the yuan, the main unit of account for foreign trade transactions, strengthened by 7% against our national currency. The exchange rate difference cannot but affect prices and inflation.

A 10 percent weakening of the ruble gives an increase in inflation of 0.5 percentage points. If the current official inflation is 8.78%, then 0.5 percentage points bring it to almost 9.3%. The overall level is an average value calculated for 600 goods and services, which does not mean that each product has increased in price by exactly this “official” amount.

The greatest dependence on imports is observed in the electronics, automobile, textile and pharmaceutical industries. Consequently, the increase in the cost of such products will exceed the general inflation rate. And households will have to take this into account when planning their family budget.

Here we can expect a significant increase in prices, but it will occur with some time lag, which makes the inevitable rise in price more or less smooth - again, if there is no explosive demand against the backdrop of another panic.

In the conditions of the huge dependence of the cost of everyday goods, even domestically produced ones, on imports (raw materials, technologies, equipment, etc.), words about ruble incomes and expenses, supposedly providing independence from the exchange rate, cannot be taken too literally. Everyone will definitely notice the increase in price.

#1  The Ruble was down to 113/1 against the Dollar Wednesday morning Central Time, so it has recovered slightly.

Of course, with the Russian Central Bank cutting off trading, there won't be any accurate exchange rate figuress until after the first of the year or whenever they decide to open up again.

Roscosmos shows footage of the snowstorm of the century in the Far East
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The snowstorm of the century that hit the Far East was captured by satellites. Roscosmos shared the photos and videos on its Telegram channel.

The footage was taken by Meteor-M, Elektro-L and Arktika-M.

"A powerful cyclone hit the district. The atmospheric vortex came from the Korean Peninsula and brought with it hurricane-force winds and record snowfall," the company said.

It was noted that, despite the extreme conditions, the Vostochny Cosmodrome staff continued to prepare the Soyuz rocket for launch. Its launch with the Kondor-FKA No. 2 satellite is scheduled for November 30.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on November 27, a state of emergency was declared in Blagoveshchensk due to the snowstorm of the century that hit the city, during which three monthly precipitation norms fell. It was specified that in connection with this, the city service and trade complex and the attracted equipment were clearing snow around the clock, and school students were transferred to distance learning until November 29 inclusive.

Later, leading specialist of the Meteonovosti news agency Tatyana Pozdnyakova noted that the snowstorm should be completely over by the weekend. According to her, such storms are not a very rare phenomenon in the Far East region, where the passage of southern cyclones is often observed at the beginning of winter and the end of autumn, bringing high air temperatures, warming, and then snowfalls, snowstorms, etc.

Victim Of Mannheim Stabbing Stürzenberger Has Been Sentenced To A Fine For Islam Hatred (Translated)
[BerlinerZeitung] Half a year after the knife attack on activist Michael Stürzenberger in Mannheim, he has now been convicted for a rally in 2020, according to a report.

The anti-Islam activist and blogger Michael Stürzenberger was sentenced to a fine by the Hamburg Regional Court on Monday for incitement, as the portal Endstation Rechts reports. The 60-year-old had denigrated refugees and Muslims at a rally. According to the portal, this was Stürzenberger's first public appearance since an Islamist attempted to stab him in May. During the attack in Mannheim, the Afghan attacker injured Stürzenberger and killed the 29-year-old police officer Rouven Laur by stabbing him in the neck.
That would be Suleiman Atayi, 25, from Herat, who went hunting for unbeliever victims with a large hunting knife.
STÜRZENBERGER WAS SENTENCED TO PRISON BY THE DISTRICT COURT
The trial in which Stürzenberger has now been legally convicted relates to a rally the activist held with the anti-Islam organization “ Citizens’ Movement Pax Europa ” in Hamburg in October 2020. There, in the presence of numerous counter-demonstrators, he made statements that the regional court condemned as incitement to hatred.

The Hamburg District Court had previously sentenced him to a six-month prison sentence in 2022, according to the report by Endstation Rechts. In the subsequent appeal proceedings at the regional court, the sentence was then converted to a suspended sentence. Due to formal errors, the case was appealed, with the sentence announced on Monday of a fine of 120 daily rates of 30 euros as the result.

Michael Stürzenberger has already been convicted in the past, for example for insult and incitement . The alleged attacker from Mannheim was charged with murder by the Federal Prosecutor's Office in November. He is in custody at an unknown location.
