[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it demolished rocket launchers and weapons at Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon
During operations carried out by the 300th “Baram” Regional Brigade, the IDF says troops found anti-tank missiles, an artillery piece, explosive devices, and rocket launchers.
Some of the launchers found by troops were aimed at Israel, the military adds.
[IsraelTimes] Israeli fighter jets struck groups of Hamas operatives at command centers embedded within two former schools in Gaza City a short while ago, the military says.
According to the IDF, the Hamas members were using the al-Karama and Shaaban schools in the Tuffah neighborhood to plan and carry out attacks against troops in Gaza and against Israel.
The schools were serving as shelters for displaced Palestinians. Palestinian media report at least 15 dead in the strikes.
The IDF says it took steps to mitigate harm to civilians in the strikes, including by using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.
[IsraelTimes] Two teenage girls have been sentenced to 18 months of youth rehabilitation after carrying out a series of antisemitic attacks on Jewish women and girls in north London’s Stamford Hill last December.
The teens, who could not be named because of their age, targeted the victims in four separate incidents over the course of half an hour in December 2023, the UK’s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) says. One attack left a woman unconscious.
The pair were convicted of attempted robbery, religiously aggravated harassment, and actual bodily harm, with one facing an additional charge of attempted theft. Both were also placed under curfew wearing electronic tags for six and three months, respectively, and were ordered to undertake a rehabilitation activity requirement for 30 and 45 hours.
The sentence’s scope reflects that the attacks were largely motivated by hate, CPS says.
“The evidence in this case proved that the two teenagers targeted most of the victims because they were Jewish,” says Senior Crown Prosecutor Jagjeet Saund.
“Key witness testimony proved that the defendants were mocking them, using antisemitic language, making it plainly obvious that these attacks were hate crimes,” Saund says. “There is no place for such intolerance and hatred, and the Crown Prosecution Service will continue to work closely with the police to ensure those who spread hate, prejudice and hostility are prosecuted.”
Stamford Hill is home to the largest Hasidic community in Europe.

[IsraelTimes] The IDF has identified a decrease in the number of incidents of Jewish terrorism against Paleostinians in the West Bank this past year compared to the previous.
Still, some of the incidents of "nationalistic crime" — attacks by settlers against Paleostinians — this year have been among the most grave in recent memory, according to military officials.
Throughout 2024, the IDF and Shin Bet recorded 663 incidents of "nationalistic crime," compared to 1,045 last year. In 2022, the military recorded 947 incidents, and in 2021, 446.
This year, there were several cases of Israeli settlers killing Paleostinians in the West Bank, including during attacks by mobs on Paleostinian villages.
The IDF has similarly recorded a decrease in the number of Paleostinian terror attacks carried out against Israelis in the West Bank and in Israel, including knifings, shootings, and car-rammings.
In 2024, the military counted 254 terror attacks, compared to 847 in the year prior. In 2022, it recorded 342, and in 2021, the number was 91.
There has also been a major decrease in the number of stone-throwing and Molotov cocktail attacks by Paleostinians, with the IDF recording 1,188 such incidents this year compared to 3,256 last year, 3,779 in 2022, and 8,633 in 2021.
The IDF says it has killed 787 Paleostinian terror operatives in the West Bank since the October 7, 2023, Hamas ..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,... onslaught. Some 70% of them were armed with a gun, according to the military.
In all, some 820 Paleostinians were killed during that time, with 4% of them being civilians who were not button men or rioters who clashed with troops or turbans carrying out attacks.
Over 100 Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s were carried out by the IDF in the West Bank since October 7, 2023, including five carried out by fighter jets.
The IDF says it killed 479 terror operatives in the West Bank this year, 504 in 2023, 155 in 2022, and 77 in 2021.
The IDF has also detained 2,868 wanted Paleostinians this year and another 3,026 in 2023. In total since October 7, the IDF says over 6,000 were detained, including 2,350 members of Hamas.
Also in the past year, 37 Israelis were killed in terror attacks carried out in the West Bank or by West Bank Paleostinians inside Israel, according to the IDF’s data. In 2023, the military recorded 41 deaths in Paleostinian terror attacks, 32 in 2022, and just 3 in 2021.
The IDF says it has captured some 1,042 weapons in the West Bank in the past year, including those smuggled into the territory from the border with Jordan. In 2023, a similar number of weapons, 1,065, were captured. According to the military, 1,499 weapons were seized since October 7, 2023.
In 2022 the IDF recorded 970 captured weapons, and in 2021, just 458.
[IsraelTimes] The United States has imposed sanctions on Iran and Houthi-related entities, according to the Treasury Department website which lists several individuals, companies and vessels.
The sanctions target three vessels involved in the trade of Iranian petroleum and petrochemicals, which generates billions of dollars for Iran’s leaders, supporting Tehran’s nuclear program, development of ballistic missiles, and financing of proxies including Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis, the Treasury says.
“The United States is committed to targeting Iran’s key revenue streams that fund its destabilizing activities,” Bradley Smith, acting under secretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, says in a release.
The sanctions come after the Israeli military carried out a series of intense airstrikes that shook Yemen’s rebel-held capital and a port city early this morning, in a preplanned operation that coincided with the Houthis firing a missile that hit a school in central Israel.
Workers walk through the rubble of a destroyed school building in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv, on December 19, 2024, after the campus was hit by a Houthi missile fired from Yemen. (Jack Guez/AFP)
Smith says Iran relies on a “shadowy network” of vessels, companies, and facilitators for those activities.
Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.
The vessels targeted are the Djibouti-flagged crude oil tanker MS ENOLA, owned by Journey Investment company, the San Marino-flagged MS ANGIA, and the Panama-flagged MS MELENIA. The last two tankers are managed and operated by Liberia- and Greece-registered Rose Shipping Limited.
The sanctions block all property and interests in the United States of the designated parties, and US persons and entities dealing with them could be exposed to sanctions or enforcement actions including fines.
The Treasury says it also imposed sanctions on 12 individuals to pressure procurement and financing schemes by the Yemen Houthi group. Those include Hashem Ismail Ali Ahmad al-Madani, the head of the Houthi-aligned central bank in Sanaa, for their alleged roles in trafficking arms, laundering money, and shipping illicit Iranian oil for the benefit of the Houthis.
[IsraelTimes] An Israeli soldier visiting Sri Lanka had to flee the country after he was identified by a pro-Palestinian organization, Channel 12 reports.
Yesterday, the Hind Rajab Foundation posted a picture of the soldier, Gal Ferenbook, and said that it had appealed to Sri Lankan authorities, the International Criminal Court, and Interpol, demanding his arrest over the killing of a civilian in Gaza.
According to the organization, Ferenbook posted a video on his Instagram account on August 9 showing what it claims is a dead Palestinian civilian. Ferenbook laughs as another soldier calls him “the Terminator.”
Ferenbook received an urgent call from Israeli authorities telling him to leave Colombo before he was arrested, Channel 12 reports.
Other similar incidents have taken place abroad, according to the report, including in Cyprus.
“The IDF does everything it can and uses all available means to protect its servicemembers at home and abroad,” says the IDF.
The military refuses to indicate whether Ferenbook will face disciplinary or criminal proceedings upon returning to Israel.

[IsraelTimes] The Biden administration’s Middle East aid envoy Lisa Grande reportedly made demands of Israel regarding the humanitarian situation in the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip, in a harsh phone call with Israel’s military liaison to the Paleostinians, COGAT chief Gen. Ghassan Alian.
Channel 12 news reports that Grande demanded during the call that Israel declare it is not following a policy of deliberately starving Gazooks amid the ongoing war, which was sparked by Hamas ..always the voice of sweet reason... ’s brutal massacre in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
She also demanded that Israel cancel all civilian evacuation orders, allow Paleostinians who have been evacuated to return to their homes, and present a comprehensive plan to reduce harm to civilian infrastructure, according to the report.
Channel 12 cites US officials as saying that it was a constructive call, though it caught Alian off guard — especially given Israeli efforts in recent months to increase humanitarian aid to Gaza.
"There are some in our administration who believe the harm to civilian infrastructure is not proportionate," Grande reportedly said during the call.
"Stunned" by the call, Alian was said to respond: "What kind of proportionality is expected from the IDF when it is acting against a terrorist organization whose deliberate modus operandi is to fight from inside civilian areas and civilian and humanitarian facilities, including hospitals, residential buildings, UN facilities, and others, while simultaneously keeping 100 hostages in these areas."
"I am astounded that you raise the notion that we are following a policy of deliberate starvation. We are bringing in aid on a wide scale and without limitation, and there has been an increase in the inflow of aid since October, especially in November," the COGAT chief said, according to Channel 12.
The International Criminal Court in the Hague has accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant of war crimes and crimes against humanity for allegedly using starvation as a method of war against the Paleostinians.
Israel has persistently claimed that it has facilitated the transfer of tens of thousands of aid trucks with enough food to provide for Gaza’s nutritional needs, and has blamed the UN for not scaling up its logistics and distribution operations.
[IsraelTimes] Russian President Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... uses antisemitic rhetoric during his lengthy end-of-year presser, accusing people including "ethnic Jews" of tearing apart the Russian Orthodox Church.
"These people that are attacking the church, they are not atheists," Putin says, addressing a question posed at the presser. "They are absolutely faithless people, Godless people. Well, ethnically, many of them are Jews, but you haven’t seen them visit any synagogue."
Putin’s characterization of Jews in this way can have dangerous consequences, says Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, the president of the Conference of European Rabbis.
"This is just one example of his regime’s explicit and virulent antisemitism, which has intensified following his 2022 invasion of Ukraine and the 2023 events of October 7th," Goldschmidt says. "This is all reminiscent of Stalin’s "Fight against Cosmopolitanism" and the "Doctors’ Plot" of 1948—53, the brutal antisemitic campaign in the Soviet Union, resulting in the arrest and killing of much of the Soviet Jewish leadership in the Soviet Union."
"We cannot emphasize enough the dangerous effect of such statements in a semi-totalitarian society," Goldschmidt continues. "As a representative of Jewish communities across Europe, and someone who was forced to flee my home and community in Moscow, I call on Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... and the free world to unequivocally condemn President Putin’s dangerous propaganda before it spreads further."
The Russian Orthodox Church is widely criticized by international watchdogs for its close relationship with the Russian government. The Council of Europe recently labeled the church a propaganda tool of the Kremlin, and several European countries have expelled church officials due to security concerns.

From what I know, this is propaganda in itself. Russia and India, two vast countries having multiple races and cultures, have been mostly free of racial hatred, such as in the West(slavery). History is extended in these countries, but talking to those who have lived there and currently seem primarily agreeable. This is one of the reasons India has such good relations with Russia. Yes, counterarguments will attack this idea, Roma, untouchables, and so on. These systemic issues are being addressed at this time—primarily in India.

(1) Russians ARE anti-semitic (and racist in general). If fact, Vlad was responding to anti-Semitic propaganda - "Jews are destroying the faith" - in Russia (because he needs Jews to run Russia).
(2) Indians maintained multiculturalism through caste system. Don't know about you, but I wouldn't enjoy traditional Indian society.
Yeah Russians have a huge inferiority complex so they have to set themselves up as the master race for their fragile egos. Jews are a normal target for them.

Ae you familiar with the phrase beyond the pale, Dale? The Russians are so philosemitic that in 1791 a law was passed decreeing that the Jews of the Russian empire were expelled from all except what was called the Pale of Settlement — roughly 20% of the western portion of the country — but also forbidden the cities within the Pale limits. Within the Pale Jews were crowded into shtetl villages — restricted in choice of occupation, restricted in ability to get education, restricted in movement, at risk of pogroms… unless one converted to Russian Orthodox Christianity. Fiddler on the Roof was a reasonably accurate depiction.

I was unfamiliar with that history. My information was about current people in those countries or recently here. Both have long histories. I suppose anything can be news. With Trump, I noticed they went back to his high school days. They still want slavery reparations. I see this as more of a psyops war in Western media.

“Human Rights Watch is once more spreading its blood libels in order to promote its anti-Israel propaganda… This report is full of lies that are appalling even when compared to HRW’s already low standards,” the foreign ministry says in a statement.
Rights group accuses Israel of ‘acts of genocide’ in Gaza over water scarcity
[IsraelTimes] Human Rights Watch accuses Israel of committing “acts of genocide” in the Gaza Strip by damaging water infrastructure and cutting off supplies to civilians, calling on the international community to impose targeted sanctions.
In a new report, which focused specifically on water, the New York-based rights group details what it said were deliberate efforts by Israeli authorities “of a systematic nature” to deprive Gazans of water.
Israel has steadfastly rejected previous similar accusations from rights groups, saying its actions in Gaza are legitimate military operations.
Israel has also taken steps to increase the water supply in Gaza, including providing power for a major desalination plant in Khan Younis.
While HRW said Israeli action amounted to the war crime of “extermination” and “acts of genocide,” it stopped short of saying Israel was committing outright “genocide.”

[IsraelTimes] US envoys have arrived in Syria to speak directly to the new Islamist-led rulers, the State Department says, in the most formal US diplomatic mission since the start of the long civil war.
The State Department’s top Middle East diplomat Barbara Leaf, Presidential Envoy for Hostage Affairs Roger Carstens and newly appointed Senior Adviser Daniel Rubinstein, who is now tasked with leading the Department’s Syria engagement, are the first US diplomats to travel to Damascus since Syria’s opposition militias overthrew oppressive president Bashar al-Assad.
The diplomats will meet representatives of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) — designated a terrorist group by Washington — and civil society to discuss with Syrians “their vision for the future of their country and how the United States can help support them,” a State Department spokesperson says.
The diplomats will meet representatives of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) — designated a terrorist group by Washington — and civil society to discuss with Syrians “their vision for the future of their country and how the United States can help support them,” a State Department spokesperson said.
The visit comes as Western governments are gradually opening channels to HTS and its leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, and start debating whether or not to remove the terrorist designation on the group. The US delegation’s travel follows contacts with France and Britain in recent days.
In their meetings, the US officials will discuss with HTS representatives a set of principles such as inclusivity and respect for the rights of minorities that Washington wants included in Syria’s political transition, the spokesperson said.
The delegation will also work to obtain new information about US journalist Austin Tice, who was taken captive during a reporting trip to Syria in August 2012, and other American citizens who went missing during the Assad regime.
“They will be engaging directly with the Syrian people, including members of civil society, activists, members of different communities, and other Syrian voices about their vision for the future of their country and how the United States can help support them,” the department spokesperson said.
“They also plan to meet with representatives of HTS to discuss transition principles endorsed by the United States and regional partners in Aqaba, Jordan,” the spokesperson said.
The United States cut diplomatic ties with Syria and shut down its embassy in Damascus in 2012.
Forces under the command of al-Sharaa – better known as Abu Mohammed al-Julani – replaced the Assad family rule with a three-month transitional government that had been ruling a rebel enclave in Syria’s northwestern province of Idlib.
Washington in 2013 designated al-Sharaa a terrorist, saying al Qaeda in Iraq had tasked him with overthrowing Assad’s rule and establishing Islamic sharia law in Syria. It said the Nusra Front, the predecessor of HTS, carried out suicide attacks that killed civilians and espoused a violent sectarian vision.
Quizzing a bunch of jihadis and their future targets about plans to form a Western-style democracy strikes me as counterproductive. The following is intersting in a modified limited hangout progression kind of way:
US DOUBLES TROOP DEPLOYMENT TO SYRIA
The United States has more than doubled the number of its forces in Syria to fight the Islamic State group — a dramatic increase that the Pentagon revealed Thursday, acknowledging that the added troops have been there for months or even more than a year.
The US had said for years that there were about 900 troops in Syria, but Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon press secretary, acknowledged there were roughly 2,000 there now.
The Pentagon was asked repeatedly about the US presence in Syria in the wake of the chaotic overthrow of Assad. It did not disclose the increase and instead kept repeating the 900 figure.
Speaking at a Pentagon press conference, Ryder said the additional forces had been in Syria “at a minimum months — it’s been going on for a while.” He said he only just learned the new number and that the increase was not related to the ouster of Assad or any hike in attacks either by or against IS.
Ryder blamed the secrecy on “diplomatic considerations” and sensitivities but declined to be more specific. There has long been friction between the US and Syria’s neighbors — Turkey and Iraq — about the ongoing presence of American forces in Syria and the need to keep them at a particular level.
Ryder said he is “not tracking” any additional adjustments to the force numbers in the future. That could change, however, as President-elect Donald Trump has said he does not support US forces getting more involved in Syria.
Ryder told reporters the increase in forces was temporary and they are there to augment US operations against the Islamic State group. He said US Army conventional and special operations forces make up the bulk of the additional troops.
The “temporary” description, however, belies the fact that troops have been rotating in and out of Syria for nearly a decade, and for much of the last year, or possibly two, the number has consistently been higher than the 900 officials repeatedly insisted were there.
There have always been an undisclosed number of U.S. special operations forces deploying into Syria for short periods of time, but that would not account for the extra 1,100 forces.
Asked whether Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin knew the total was that high, Ryder said, “I’m confident that the secretary is tracking US forces deployed around the world.” When pressed on whether Austin directed his staff to keep the higher number secret, Ryder said no. He also said that Austin has not talked to Gen. Erik Kurilla, the top US general for the Middle East, about the matter.
Since Assad’s overthrow, Israel and Turkey have both launched military operations inside Syria’s borders, including Israeli airstrikes against weapons facilities in the east that belonged to Assad’s regime and Turkey’s offensive in the northeast against Kurdish forces, who have partnered with the US in its fight against the Islamic State.
[PJMedia] Deposed Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad'>Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes...
fled to Russia less than two weeks ago, but his escape may have been facilitated by the Israelis in exchange for bombshell information. Literally.
First, though, Assad is enjoying his rest in Moscow, where he and his family have been granted asylum, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. But not all is well for Assad, despite the protection he now enjoys and the wealth he absconded with.
Hudson Institute's Michael Doran just revealed the terms of Assad's asylum:
Bashar is strictly prohibited from engaging in political activity or leaving Moscow without prior approval from Russian authorities.
Asma al-Assad filed for divorce through a Russian court and requested permission to leave Moscow for London; her request is still under review.
Bashar is barred from accessing or managing his movable and immovable assets until a decision is made by the relevant authorities. His assets in Russia include 270 kilograms of gold, $2 billion, and 18 apartments in the "City of Capitals" complex located in Moscow's prestigious skyscraper district.
Maher al-Assad has not yet been granted asylum; his request remains under review. He and his family are currently under house arrest.
That third point has got to stick in Assad's throat. He stole that money fair and square, but now Vladimir Putin will take his cut — presumably significant. I'm rather amused that Asma has filed for divorce now that Bashar has lost power. I'm not sure even DOCTOR Jill Biden is so audaciously crass, but I suppose we'll learn for certain next year after Joe hits the bricks.
You might have noticed over the last week or two that the Israeli Air Force has done an almost miraculous job of eliminating much of what's left of Assad's Syrian Arab Army. Syria's air defenses, ammo depots, illicit chemical weapons facilities... they all went boom. Estimates are that the IAF destroyed something like 85% of the SAA's combat power in a matter of days before it could fall into the hands of ISIS or HTS.
I always knew that Mossad had great intel on Syria, but that good, really? And if Israeli intelligence is that good, why didn't the IAF shoot the hated Assad out of the sky as he tried to escape?
Well, according to Open Source Intel, "Middle Eastern media is buzzing with reports citing Turkey’s Hurriyet newspaper that a 'reliable source' revealed Bashar al-Assad provided Israel with a detailed list of weapons depots, missile systems, and warplanes as a guarantee that Israel would not target him during his exit from Syria."
"Israel's subsequent precision strikes on Syrian targets lend credibility to these claims, suggesting the information was genuine and not fabricated."
If true, Israel was able to destroy the military of one of its most implacable enemies, and all it cost was allowing the delivery of that enemy into the tender mercies of Vladimir Putin.

[IsraelTimes] New David Division to be tasked with defense of the Jordan border or West Bank barrier; members will keep weapons at home, be able to respond to sudden events in their area
The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday detailed its plans to form a new light infantry division based on volunteer reservists for patrol and routine security, including during periods of escalation across the country.
The 96th Division, also known as the David Division, is to be composed of five regional brigades based on where the soldiers reside rather than for regional defense.
The IDF said the division’s missions would be largely related to defense on the border with Jordan and along the West Bank security barrier. The division would also operate in the West Bank if needed.
The division’s members would be ready to respond to sudden events in their respective regions, as they are slated to keep their weapons and equipment at their homes, unlike other reservists who return their gear to the army when leaving reserve duty.
The division was being established by Maj. Gen. (res.) Moti Almoz, who, along with IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi, has so far appointed all of the five brigade commanders and 25 battalion commanders, along with around 100 of the 125 company commanders.
The first division commander will be Brig. Gen. Oren Simcha, who is also responsible for the IDF’s new Eastern Regional Divison.
The commanders of the brigades include Col. Yehuda Levin, who will head the 189th Negba Brigade, made up of troops from southern Israel; Col. Shai Babad, who will head the 187th Yonatan Brigade, made up of troops from the Shfela region; Col. Elad Tahori, who will head the 186th Yizraeli Brigade, made up of troops from the Jezreel Valley; Col. Dudu Cohen, who will head the 182nd Ori Brigade, made up of troops from the Jerusalem area; and Col. Ori Levin, who will head the Galil-Golan Brigade, made up of troops from the Galilee and Golan Heights.
The planned 15,000 soldiers who will man the division will be between the ages of 38 and 58 — above the current age of exemption from reserve duty which is 40 for most — with 80 percent being volunteers.
Thousands of former combat and combat support soldiers have already volunteered to be part of the division, according to the military.
Two unique battalions in the brigades include one composed of Bedouin soldiers, and another based on ex-Navy sailors. (Currently, the vast majority of soldiers who served in the Navy don’t serve in reserves, as there are few reserve roles in the Navy.)
The military is also considering making one of the battalions co-ed if enough female volunteers seek to serve in the division.
The IDF plans that by the end of 2025, all 25 brigades will be fully established.
Speaking at an event on Monday night, Halevi said "In this war, we learned that the IDF needs to be bigger, broader, in the face of difficult situations and long wars."
"It will be necessary to convince and bring in enough people and train them, but we have the right spirit, and an understanding of the need," the IDF chief said.
[IsraelTimes] Rare motion for the neutral country passes the parliament’s lower chamber with 126 votes in favor, 20 against and 41 abstentions, despite government’s opposition to ban
Switzerland ...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell... ’s parliament on Tuesday voted to outlaw Hezbollah, in a rare move by the neutral country that has traditionally followed a policy of promoting international dialogue and mediation.
Proponents of the ban, which was passed by the lower house after receiving upper house approval last week, said Hezbollah was a threat to international security and that Switzerland needed to prohibit it to take a stand against terrorism.
The Swiss government opposed the ban after Switzerland’s Federal Council said that the Lebanese terror group could not be banned as a threat to security under the country’s intelligence act because the existing law required sanctions or a ban by the United Nations ...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society... to be in place for such a move to be applied.
"If Switzerland now moves to ban such organizations with special laws, we must ask ourselves where and how the boundaries are drawn," Justice Minister Beat Jans said during the parliamentary debate.
The ban nevertheless passed the lower house with 126 votes in favor, 20 against, and 41 abstentions.
The security policy committee that proposed the ban argued that Switzerland’s mediating role will remain intact thanks to a specific provision on peace talks and humanitarian aid.
Last week, the Swiss parliament outlawed Hamas ..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... over the Paleostinian terror group’s October 7, 2023, terror onslaught in southern Israel, in which some 1,200 people were killed, most of them civilians, and 251 were seized as hostages.
The government, which drafted the bill to outlaw Hamas, said it had done so in line with the practice of proscribing organizations on a case-by-case basis only "for extremely serious reasons."

[IsraelTimes] Mohammad Sa’adi allegedly gave information about rocket impacts, troop locations and plane movements to Lebanese terror group and allied TV station; also asked to join as a fighter
Prosecutors on Thursday indicted a Nazareth man on charges he spied for the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah during the war, the Shin Bet and Israel Police said in a statement.
Mohammad Sa’adi, 19, was charged with contacting a foreign agent after he was detained in November on suspicion that he had passed information to Hezbollah, the statement said.
An investigation by the Shin Bet and Israel Police revealed he had contacted the terror group several times and asked to join the group and fight for it, authorities added.
Sa’adi allegedly sent Hezbollah information on rocket impact locations, aircraft movements, and Israel Defense Forces troop locations.
He is also accused of contacting the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Manar television station, and sending it photos and videos during the course of the conflict.
Israeli authorities linked Sa’adi’s alleged spying to a series of cases in recent months of Israelis allegedly recruited to spy for Iran, passing on information about rocket impacts, military sites, or individuals targeted for liquidation. Many are thought to have been duped into the work or were drawn in by promises of large payouts rather than seeking to undermine Israel from the inside.
"The investigation into this matter exposed yet again the fact that actors from the Shia axis, led by Iran, are working to advance terror activities in Israel, including by recruiting residents of the State of Israel, whom they exploit to spy for their purposes," the Shin Bet and police said.
Sa’adi appeared to be the first among those charged who allegedly spied for Hezbollah specifically.

The speech he gave in support of Brett Kavanaugh was downright manly and really cheesed off the Dems... and Chris Van Hollen, of the Republican and Democratic parties respectively, spoke to SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi on Tuesday, stressing that Washington "cannot sit idly by" and watch its Kurdish allies be attacked.
"The United States must immediately use all the tools at our disposal to press for a sustained ceasefire and a demilitarized zone. If Turkey does not accept those terms, we tend to introduce bipartisan sanctions legislation this week," a joint statement from both senators said.
"While Turkey has some legitimate security concerns that can be addressed, these developments are undermining regional security," the statement added.
The ceasefire extension came amid a proposal by Abdi for a demilitarized zone in Kobane under US supervision, an initiative he said "aims to address Ottoman Turkish security concerns and ensure the long-term stability of the region."
Turkey considers the SDF and its main fighting force, the People’s Protection Units (YPG), as the Syrian front for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) - designated as a terrorist group by Ankara.
Earlier in December, Senator Graham said that Ottoman Turkish attacks present a great risk of jailbreak to tens of thousands of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. [Rudaw] A spokesperson for Syria’s transitional government said on Wednesday that no authority other than the central government in Damascus will be recognized while affirming that Kurds are equal partners in rebuilding the nation.
"We will not accept any part of Syrian territory to remain outside the control of the current government in Damascus," Obeida Arnaout, spokesperson for the new Syrian administration’s political affairs office, told Rudaw’s Nalin Hassan.

(HTS) led an offensive on Damascus in recent weeks that toppled Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Terror of Aleppo ... Arnaout did not mention the Kurdish enclave in Syria by name but emphasized the territorial integrity of the new Syria.
The HTS has avoided armed festivities with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) - the de facto army of northeast Syria (Rojava).
Rojava authorities have expressed their readiness to sit down with HTS leadership to determine the future of Kurds in Syria, ordering its institutions to raise the new flag of Syria as a gesture of goodwill.
During more than a dozen years of civil war, Kurds were able to control most parts of Rojava and some Arab-majority towns. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them... they lost some areas to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and Syrian militias it supports in 2018 and 2019. The SDF also withdrew from Tal Rifaat and Manbij after Ankara and the murderous Moslems launched attacks against them while the HTS-led groups were fighting the toppled regime.
"We view every component of the Syrian people as a partner in the nation... but we are talking about a stage of specific requirements," Arnout said.
Turkey-backed turbans, who call themselves the Syrian National Army (SNA), control swathes of territory in northern Syria. It is not clear how the new government in Damascus will deal with these areas.
United Nations ...where theory meets practice and practice loses... Special Envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen said on Tuesday that while much of Syria appears stable the situation remains "fragile," with ongoing violence and displacement in Rojava threatening the country's peace.
Syria’s caretaker prime minister, Mohammed al-Bashir, told Italian daily Corriere della Sera this week that the new Syrian state will "guarantee the rights of all people and all communities in Syria."
"Under Assad’s regime, the Kurds were deprived of most of their rights. However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them... we view them as entitled to rights that must be restored to them, just like any other component of the Syrian community," the spokesperson said.
Kurds in Syria have long faced systemic repression and discrimination from the Syrian government, including attacks on peaceful gatherings, arrests of political activists, and bans on cultural celebrations. Kurds have been detained, tortured, and denied basic political and cultural rights.
Thousands of Kurds have also been denied access to full citizenship rights, with many being rendered stateless due to exclusionary policies. These policies date back decades and disproportionately targeted Kurds, stripping them of their nationality and relegating them to second-class status, denying education, employment opportunities, and political representation, leaving them more vulnerable to poverty and marginalization. While there were reforms in 2011, the process was limited and disrupted by ongoing conflict.
On Tuesday, residents of the Kurdish neighborhood of Rukn al-Din, often called the neighborhood of the Kurds, told Rudaw’s Halkawt Azees that they want to have an effective participation in the political process and be provided with Kurdish education while having an independent administration.

Arnout. Now there is a familiar name. An Arnout headed a pro-Al Qaeda charity in the USA before being arrested. He served a short period in jail. He was thought to have rejoined Al Qaeda (under one of its noms de guerre).

"We will not accept any part of Syrian territory to remain outside the control of the current government in Damascus"
Good luck with that, Mr. Arnaout. Folks tried to do that for years.
The Persians tried, as did the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Umayyads, a bunch of folks including the Crusaders, Ottomans, French, a bunch more folks during the 1940's-60's, the Assads and now you.

[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led administration in northeast Syria (Rojava) on Wednesday said it removed customs and taxes with other parts of Syria in a bid to “preserve the unity of Syrian lands” following the collapse of the Baathist regime.
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (DAANES), which governs Rojava, announced its decision to “cancel customs duties, fees, and other taxes between the areas of the Autonomous Administration and other Syrian areas.”
The decision was on the Kurdish-led authority’s “keenness to preserve the unity of Syrian lands and in line with the changes that occurred in Syria, represented by the fall of the tyrannical regime,” adding that the procedures were followed due to “exceptional security circumstances” during the Syrian civil war.
The statement comes amid historic changes in Syria as a coalition of militia groups, led by the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), ousted Assad on December 8.
The collapse of the regime marked a new start in Syria’s history. The HTS-led groups established a transitional government led by caretaker Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir who has promised a future Syrian state that guarantees the rights of all its citizens.
The Rojava authority reached out to the new administration in Damascus following the collapse of Assad’s regime in an effort to reach an agreement on the future of Syria.
Last week, DAANES announced that it will raise the Syria “independence” flag across Rojava institutions.
The new Syrian flag, featuring three red stars and the colors green, white, and black, has yet to be officially recognized as the country is going through a transitional period.
The HTS-led forces have so far not clashed with the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) - the de-facto army of Rojava.
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said on Wednesday that the Syrian National Army (SNA), with Ottoman Turkish air support, has continued attacks on the symbolic Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria and posed a threat to the crucial Tishreen Dam despite the US-brokered ceasefire which has been extended through the end of the week.
"Despite ongoing de-escalation efforts by the United States of America, the Ottoman Turkish occupation and its mercenaries continued their attacks on numerous areas in the vicinity of Kobani, the Tishreen Dam, and Ain Issa yesterday and today," the SDF said in a statement, noting that the SNA, a coalition of Ankara-backed militia groups, on Tuesday attacked the Tishreen Dam near Manbij city with Ottoman Turkish air support.
The US-backed force also noted that attacks continued from Tuesday evening to Wednesday morning, targeting Kobane city, the Tishreen Dam and villages in Ain Issa.
Kurdish officials had repeatedly warned that the recent attacks on the dam have severely damaged the structure of the dam and its operations.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based war monitor, reported that the SDF and the SNA were "committing to the US-brokered ceasefire agreement," elaborating that the extended deal went into effect from midnight on Tuesday to Wednesday.
However,
there's no worse danger than telling a mother her baby is ugly... the Observatory later reported that the SNA had violated the truce.
SDF has also warned that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. They first moved against the US-backed SDF by attacking the northwestern Shahba region, taking Tal Rifaat and Manbij.
The US brokered a four-day ceasefire between the SDF and Turkey last week, which State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said was extended on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) representative in Washington said that the US wants to sustain the ceasefire deal but blamed Ankara for its continued "aggressive stance against the Kurds."
The SDC is the political arm of the US-backed SDF - the de-facto army of northeast Syria (Rojava).
SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi on Tuesday said they are committed to a "comprehensive" ceasefire across Syria and proposed the establishment of a "demilitarized zone" in Kobane under US supervision, an initiative he stated "aims to address Ottoman Turkish security concerns and ensure the long-term stability of the region."
[Rudaw] At least 21 murderous Moslems of the Syrian National Army (SNA) were killed on Wednesday after the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) retaliated to their attack on the Tishreen Dam near Manbij, a war monitor reported, amid violations of a ceasefire deal.
"At least 21 members of the pro-Ottoman Turkish factions were killed and others were maimed by fire from the Manbij Military Council forces, in an attack by the pro-Ottoman Turkish factions on housing in Tishreen Dam," said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor.
A fragile US-brokered ceasefire between the Kurdish-led SDF and the Ankara-backed SNA near the symbolic Kurdish city of Kobane in northern Syria has been in place since last week and was extended on Tuesday.
But both the Observatory and the SDF have blamed the SNA for violating the ceasefire.
On Thursday, the SDF said that they shot down a Ottoman Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drone near Kobane after it launched strikes on the US-backed force.
Kurdish officials had repeatedly warned that the recent attacks on the dam have severely damaged the structure of the dam and its operations.
SDF has also warned that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... and SNA have prepared to strike Kobane after rebels toppled Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Oppressor of the Syrians and the Lebs... ’s regime earlier this month. [Rudaw] Nearly 2,500 Syrian soldiers, who sought refuge in Iraq earlier this month as Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Supressor of the Damascenes... ’s regime was facing a lightning-blitz by a coalition of rebels, are set to be "voluntarily" repatriated to their country in the coming days, a top security official in Iraq’s bordering province of Anbar said on Wednesday.
The soldiers started fleeing to Iraq through the al-Qaim border crossing on December 7, a day before Assad’s regime collapsed. Iraqi officials said at the time that they had entered the country with Baghdad’s permission..
"Starting today, measures have been taken to return Syrian soldiers to their country," Sa’d Mohammadi, head of the security committee of the Anbar provincial council, told Rudaw’s Hastyar Qadir on Wednesday, adding that the repatriations will begin on Thursday.
Mohammadi said that a total of 2,490 Syrian soldiers are present in Iraq, noting that their return is voluntary.
The HTS-led administration has issued an amnesty to the former regime’s soldiers, designating places for them to hand over their weapons.
During the escalation of the conflict between Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS) and the Syrian regime, thousands of soldiers from the Iraqi armed forces, including the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), along with border police, were deployed along the Iraqi-Syrian border in Anbar province. Iraq feared that the developments in the neighboring country could negatively affect its security.
The Shiite-led Iraqi government was among the top allies of Assad, but Baghdad was quick to announce that it did not want to be embroiled in the conflict.

Rescue teams in white hazmat suits searched the site, located not far from the revered shrine of Sayeda Zeinab, the granddaughter of Prophet Mohammad. The remains were placed into black bags and loaded onto a truck as bystanders from the neighborhood looked on.
"Some (of the remains) are skeletons, others are incomplete, and there are bags of small bones. We cannot yet determine the number of victims," al-Salmo says.
"Damascus has become a mass grave," he says, pointing out the growing reports of war-related graves and burial sites in the capital and other places in Syria.

[Rudaw] Hadi Albahra, president of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC), said on Wednesday that they have not met with the leadership of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... (HTS), current rulers of Syria, adding that the transitional government aims at prioritizing security and stability.
"The coalition did not meet with the commander of the military operations room, Ahmed al-Sharra, but there were some contacts with parties working in the administration of the government and parties close to him," Albahra told Rudaw’s Omer Sonmez during a presser in Istanbul on Wednesday, referring to the HTS leader who is better known by his nom de guerre, Abu Mohammed al-Jolani.
The SNC leader’s remarks come amid historic changes in Syria as a coalition of militia groups, led by the HTS, ousted Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Scourge of Qusayr... on December 8.
The collapse of the regime marked a new start in Syria’s history. The HTS-led groups established a transitional government led by caretaker Prime Minister Mohammed al-Bashir who has promised a future Syrian state that guarantees the rights of all its citizens.
Albahra added that "the priority at the current stage, the interim caretaker phase that ends next March, is the issue of security, safety, stability, securing needs and preserving state institutions."

The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo told Rudaw in Brussels that the new Syria should avoid conflict and its components must be allowed to live in harmony.
Turkey and the SNA have launched numerous attacks on the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria in recent days despite a US-brokered ceasefire which expires at the end of the week.
Albahra linked the conflict to the presence of a "terrorist organization," referring to the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) - the backbone of the SDF. Ankara considers the YPG the Syrian offshoot of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
PKK, designated as a terrorist organization by Turkey, has been involved in a decades-long conflict with Ankara.
It has repeatedly denied any presence in Syria or having organic ties with the YPG.

Exercise the Vlad the Impaler option, impale 1000 muslims per dead, 500 per injured. Eventually, you run out cause their too stupid to get the message.
[HotAir] Well, you certainly could have fooled us. Plan A for Speaker Mike Johnson was to collaborate with Democrats to pass a CR and partial omnibus with lots of pork for everyone. When that collapsed in a hailstorm of recrimination, Plan B relied on House Republicans to unite on a purer CR with a debt-ceiling lift. Once again, House Republicans refused to take "yes" for an answer in an embarrassing floor vote last night.
Now Johnson is telling reporters that a Plan C to avoid a government shutdown tonight is emerging, although no one knows what it might entail.
So what are the options for Plan C? Punchbowl News looks at four options, the first of which is a non-starter -- putting Plan B up for another vote, this time through Rules. That would be a great plan, except that you'd need all of the Republicans to vote for it. So ...
2) A negotiated settlement. Although Trump might not like it, Democrats have a price. Johnson can get together with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and figure out what Democrats need to support a bill to fund the government past tonight.
The problem for Johnson is this runs the risk of both dividing the House Republican Conference and angering Trump by trying to again cut a deal with Jeffries. Democrats have to be convinced Johnson won’t renege again, as well as being able to deliver enough votes. Sources close to Jeffries say they can deliver the votes. The question is can Johnson?
3) Drop the debt-limit increase. If Johnson were to drop the debt-limit increase from Thursday’s bill, that might be an attractive option for Republicans and even some Democrats. Remember, that’s a three-month CR with disaster funding and an extension of the farm bill. With a shutdown just hours away, this isn’t a bad move.
Plus, many Republicans are truly opposed to Trump’s call to extend the debt limit now. Congress is six months ahead of any debt-limit deadline. Also, Trump also dropped this demand into lawmakers’ laps two days before a shutdown.
4) A short-term CR. There was some talk inside the GOP leadership and among rank-and-file members about a short-term CR to fund federal agencies until early or mid-January. But this wouldn’t change the current reality: Johnson has a very small majority, he has to deal with a volatile incoming president, face down an emboldened mega-billionaire with a social media platform and has a generally uncooperative House Republican Conference.
Of all these options, #3 looks like the most viable. It doesn't require much support from Democrats and allows a Republican Senate to then deal with the debt ceiling. It also allows the skinnier CR without the CRomnibus spending and weird nomenclature changes to pass so that all of the future spending decisions can get made with Republican control of both floors in Congress.
ANNA PAULINA LUNA just came out of the speakers office and said there will be a vote on “something very similar to yesterday.”
She said Rs will not negotiate with Dems.
She also said vote at 10, which I’ve been told is an ambitious internal leadership goal not meant to be…
Update: Politico suggests that the debt ceiling is the real prize, and that both Trump and Johnson think this is the right time to have the fight:
Right or wrong, there also seems to be a belief among some people close to Trump that some sort of debt ceiling disaster is around the corner and thus this needs to be dealt with now.
Behind that thinking is a fear that Democrats are so eager to trip up Trump, that when the debt ceiling next needs to be raised, they’ll demand the GOP make politically impossible concessions. Republicans will then either cave to Democrats’ demands or they’ll cause a breach of the debt ceiling, precipitating an economic catastrophe in Trump’s first year back in office.
Under this logic, these Trump world figures argue that it’s better to face a shutdown now to try to resolve the issue.

No hide the ball in a mire of detail, pork and many pages to insure that bills never get read. The bill comes out of committee loaded with pork by the lobbyists and is shoved at Congress for a full vote at the last minute. Then you get an asinine statement by the Speaker of the House saying "You've got to pass the bill to read it."
How about short single issue stand-alone bills for an up or down vote?
So when Biden and Harris were both quickly re-called, back to the White House Last night, naturally I checked the DEFCON level.
While the US overall is at DEFCON 3, the following are at DEFCON 2.: CENTCOM, Cyber Command, EUCOM, & INDOPACOM.
So what is up in the White House?
Is there a plan, in the works, to Stop Trump?
Maybe a Blanket Pardon for those involved in the: Illegal Coup, Justice System rigging, and/or vote tampering, that we have seen these last 4+ years?

The US government has several factions - both the obvious ones and those more ambiguous. Many of them are weaponized. FWIW the conflicting messages the public is receiving may be due to infighting or positioning for same. Not trying to speculate beyond my pay grade but there are some very squirrely things going on right now. Tough to reach actionable conclusions with partial and deliberately misleading info in the mix. Of course - that may be the point . . .

As for Harris, it has been suggested she was needed in DC should a Senate Vote require her tie-breaking authority? FWIW
[Cincinnati Enquirer] On a cold December afternoon, standing next to the empty wood frame where his mailbox used to be, Chuck Klein tried to explain why he’s spent so much time the past few years sending emails to government officials, writing letters to a president and a congressman, working with a private investigator and a lawyer, and, finally, suing the U.S. Postal Service.
"This is where it was," Klein said, motioning to a mailbox-sized hole in the frame. "This is where we want the box to be."
It's as simple as that, Klein said. He wants his mailbox back.
But after years of arguing with the Postal Service, the seemingly minor bureaucratic dispute over the fate of Klein’s beige stainless steel mailbox has become something more. It is now, quite literally, a federal case that challenges the mission and obligations of an institution as old as the nation itself.
What is the Postal Service supposed to be? What are its obligations to its tens of millions of customers?
Klein didn’t set out to ask those questions, but his years-long campaign to win back his mailbox is raising them all the same.
In Klein’s view, none of this was necessary. For several years, the Postal Service delivered mail to his old mailbox on the edge of his 130-acre property in Brown County, about an hour east of Cincinnati. If he received a package too big for the mailbox, the carrier brought it to his door.

Postal Service operates pretty much as a monopoly. Only their serviced mail gets into those mailboxes. Because the way the law is worded, those are not your mail boxes but belong to USPS. When some yahoo blows one up, its a federal offense, not local. Fundamentally, what the court is going to be asked is whether the USPS can operate as such. The court can punt on the issue in accordance with the powers of Congress per Article I, Section 8 to establish post roads and post offices.

Sometimes YouTube videos need a moderator to open the post and close it again without changing anything before it will admit to existing. So I tried it, and this time it worked — you did nothing wrong, my dear.
Thank you for explaining — exploding a stray bird is not an explanation that would ever have occurred to me.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Scientists have found California ground squirrels are evolving in a 'shocking' way - the animals have developed a taste for flesh.
A video captured dozens of them hunting, attacking and feasting on rodents for the first time ever.
The bizarre behavior was seen for two weeks at Briones Regional Park in Contra Costa County as cameras recorded squirrels pouncing on their prey, ripping them apart and consuming the lifeless animal.
On one occasion, scientists watched in horror as a squirrel 'vigorously' shook its prey while holding it in its mouth.
The observations have suggested that these nut foraging creatures are evolving into carnivorous predators.
'This was shocking,' said Dr Jennifer E. Smith, an associate professor of biology at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, who led the study.
'We had never seen this behavior before. Squirrels are one of the most familiar animals to people.'
'We see them right outside our windows; we interact with them regularly.
'Yet here's this never-before-encountered-in-science behavior that sheds light on the fact that there's so much more to learn about the natural history of the world around us.'
Scientists observed 74 interactions between squirrels and voles, which are similar to hamsters, from June 10 to July 30.
And more than 32 of those exchanges ended with the squirrel feasting on the small animal.
The predator typically restrained the rodent with its forepaws and teeth, then deliver one or several bites killing bites to the neck area.
In three of the recorded hunting attempts, squirrels stayed low to the ground and stalked their prey.
Nineteen squirrels chased voles across the landscape, which was usually followed by a pounce to restrain the prey.
Then, the squirrels would go for the kill.
Though they primarily targeted bites to the neck, they sometimes went for other body parts, the researchers noted.
The squirrels successfully captured and killed a vole 55 percent of the time.
These carnivorous eating habits coincided with an explosion of vole numbers in the park.
According to the researchers, this suggests their hunting behavior emerged alongside a temporary increase in the availability of vole prey.
This dietary flexibility may give the squirrels a survival advantage.
Sonja Wild, a behavioral ecologist at UC Davis and author of the study, said in a statement: 'The fact that California ground squirrels are behaviorally flexible and can respond to changes in food availability might help them persist in environments rapidly changing due to the presence of humans.'
While the researchers have been studying squirrels for years, even they were amazed at the findings.
'I could barely believe my eyes,' Wild added.
'We saw that behavior almost every day.
'Once we started looking, we saw it everywhere.'
'This research radically changes our perception of squirrels, one of the most familiar mammals in the world,' lead author Dr Smith told CNN via email.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The Department of Justice has requested that a court block an attempt by Derek Chauvin's lawyers to re-examine George Floyd's heart.
Federal prosecutors in Minnesota filed a motion on Tuesday asking a judge to reconsider his decision to allow Chauvin's legal team to look at Floyd's heart tissue and bodily fluids, among other evidence, to prove whether or not he actually died of a heart condition.
The day before, US District Court Judge Paul Magnuson ruled that the former cop's team could examine the deceased man's autopsy report.
Prosecutors from the US District Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota argued the request stems 'solely from an email [Chauvin] received from an unvetted doctor offering a weaker version of the medical defense than the version that the jury had previously rejected at his state trial.'
The doctor, Kansas forensic pathologist William Schaetzel, contacted Chauvin's team after he entered his plea, proposing that Floyd had not died due to the officer kneeling on his neck for several minutes.
Chauvin's latest bid to have his conviction tossed cites 'ineffective assistance of counsel' from original defense attorney Eric Nelson, whom he says failed to relay to him Schaetzel's theory that Chauvin did not cause Floyd’s death.
Minnesota prosecutors argued that Chauvin's team choosing not to examine Floyd's heart at trial was a 'strategic decision that courts have recognized as "virtually unchallengeable."'
'And even if [the] defendant could establish unreasonable performance, he could not demonstrate prejudice from counsel's decisions,' they wrote.
'It defies belief that, if [the] defendant had been aware of a weaker medical defense theory than the one already rejected by his state jury, he would have chosen trial again, in the face of overwhelming evidence and a Guidelines sentence of life.'
Prosecutors also argued that Dr. Andrew Baker, who performed Floyd's autopsy, testified during the trial that he didn't believe that the man's paraganglioma - a benign tumor found in Floyd's pelvis - had anything to do with his death.
'I did look at it under the microscope,' he testified.
'The most likely diagnosis is a paraganglioma, but I have no reason to believe that had anything to do with Mr. Floyd's death.'
Prosecutors added: 'Discovery on Dr. Schaetzel's opinion would not alter the reasonableness of [Chauvin's] choices.'
On Monday, Judge Magnuson ruled that 'given the significant nature of the criminal case that Mr. Chauvin was convicted of' there was 'good cause to allow Mr. Chauvin to take the discovery that he seeks.'
Legal experts also agree that Chauvin ought to be allowed to view the autopsy.
Former Philadelphia Prosecutor David Gelman told Fox News: 'Chauvin should have every opportunity to exhaust his appeals just like any other defendant. If this was any other case, I bet the Justice Department wouldn't have objected.'
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, who now goes by his real name Ahmad al-Sharaa, the head of Hayat Tahir al-Sham (HTS) and Syria's new de facto ruler, has stated that foreign fighters who helped his organization topple the Syrian government may be allowed to receive Syrian citizenship.
He started in Al Qaeda in Iraq, and founded the Syrian branch that is now Al Nusra. This looks like returning to his roots.
Media outlets reported that al-Jolani stated that foreign fighters who entered Syria to fight against the Syrian government were part of the movement that led to the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime, and they should be celebrated, as he expressed.
Thousands of Salafist religious extremists from dozens of countries, including Britain, Belgium, France, China, Chechnya, Tunisia, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia came to fight with Al-Jolani against Syria.

[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] The Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... i Armed Forces have carried out a qualitative military operation targeting two specific and sensitive military sites of the Israeli enemy in the occupied Yaffa area.
In support for the oppressed Paleostinian people, response to the ongoing massacres against the Gazooks and their beloved resistance, and continuation of the fifth scope of escalation, as well as in retaliation to the Israeli aggression against Yemen, the missile force of the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out a military operation two strategic and sensitive Israeli military sites in occupied Jaffa using two Paleostine-2 hypersonic ballistic missiles.
The operation successfully achieved its objectives, by the grace of God, according to a statement read by the Yemeni military front man General Yahya Sare'e on Thursday morning.
This operation was conducted in response to the Israeli aggression against civilian infrastructure in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, and al-Hudaydah Governorate, including attacks on power stations, Sare'e elaborated.
''Our response comes within the framework of a legitimate and natural reaction.''
''The Israeli aggression will not deter Yemen and its people from fulfilling their religious and moral duty to respond to the massacres in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... . Likewise, it will not deter our retaliation against this blatant aggression through continued support and targeted strikes on hostile objectives using appropriate weaponry,'' the brigadier general stressed.
The intercepted strike came at the same time as Israel was carrying out raids on the Iran-backed rebels in Yemen, who have fired hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel over the past year.
The group’s spokesman Yahya Saree said the rebels had targeted “two specific and sensitive military targets… in the occupied Yaffa area,” referring to the Jaffa region near Tel Aviv, with “hypersonic ballistic missiles.”
Israel says one missile was fired and intercepted, though debris hit a school near Ramat Gan, collapsing a building. There were no injuries.

[DAILYMAIL.CO.UK] Tis the season for Dire Revenge! For President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. This Is A Man That Does Not Seem Demented... is spending the remaining weeks of his presidency settling scores.
Between organizing this year's White House Christmas decorations, staff holiday parties and a string of final goodbyes, the president and First Lady Jill Biden have been quietly sharpening the metaphorical carving knives, with their sights set firmly on the one-time allies they perceive as having wronged them.
Biden infuriated many senior members of the Democratic Party with his shocking U-turn and pardon of his son Hunter a fortnight ago, after months of publicly vowing he wouldn't make such a move.
The pardon came alongside the quiet commuting of around 1,500 sentences, including for the relative of a member of the Chinese Communist Party who had been caught with child porn on his computer.
Now, sources say, the first lady has been egging her husband on to further inflame fury among his colleagues.
'Jill views Democrats ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects... on Capitol Hill, the [wider] party, the Obamas, staff inside and outside the White House, the media, and all of Washington DC with such misguided resentment that I can't imagine she [isn't] encouraging [Joe] to burn the whole thing down, despite his better judgment,' an insider said.
A particular target for the First Couple is said to be former house speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments... , who led the effort to push Biden out of the 2024 election race — personally calling him and demanding he quit in the hours before he withdrew on June 21.
The pair had been friends for some 50 years, but a maimed Biden has since been giving her the silent treatment. Any repair in relations is thought to be unlikely.

How is this a 'bombshell'? We've known this from day one.
was anything Biden signed legal? As swksvolFF mentioned, if no one witnessed Biden signing various ill and pardons, are they legal? Seems like they can be machine signed as well. Which mean they are noy legal.

Those that hid this long suspected and demonstrated fact, in order to run their shadow government coup, should be charged with Treason.
Their trial televised.
If and when convicted, suffer the ultimate punishment.
Which should televised as a clear warning to others violating the Rights of others, and the US Constitution for personal gain.

The story isn't Biden's failing health which wasn't really covered up because that would have been physically impossible.
The story is the successful gaslighting operation conducted by the MSM and the political establishment that convinced a large cohort of the world public not to acknowledge obvious, plainly visible facts.

IIRC the autosign machine can't just print the signature, it has to be connected to another machine and replicate an actual physical real-time signature to be considered legal.
He should have old man dementia shaky hands signature.
Airandee, you may be right, but they've been trying to walk that dog for 8 years.
Anyone familiar with Wills and them being contested because signed while not lucid and sober? It's a moon shot, but there is going to be a lot of discovery about those behind the pardonpalooza, and if that pardon can be challenged..

I presented a clear plan to Homeland Security in Congress on how the Biden administration could help Iranians end the Islamic Republic through pressure on the regime and solidarity with the people. Sadly, many opportunities were lost.
For raising this demand, I’ve faced a kidnapping attempt and two assassination plots on U.S. soil, while millions inside Iran risk their lives daily for the same cause.
Ending the Islamic Republic is not just a moral imperative but a strategic necessity for peace and stability in the region and beyond. The regime understands only one language: the language of pressure. I am ready to share this roadmap with the new administration.

The identities of the organizers of the shooting have not yet been established.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, protests began in Abkhazia on November 15. Opposition supporters broke into the buildings of the government complex and seized them. They opposed the ratification of the agreement on investment cooperation with Russia, fearing that Russian business would displace Abkhazian businessmen, and demanded the resignation of the president.
At that time, the country's president, Aslan Bzhania, called the opposition's actions anti-Russian. According to him, the demonstrators distorted the essence of the investment agreement. On November 19, the head of state agreed to his resignation and wrote a statement.
On November 18, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that bilateral relations between Russia and Abkhazia are an important priority of Russian policy, and therefore the Kremlin is in favor of a speedy normalization of the situation in the republic.
The shooting in the parliament of Abkhazia, during which a deputy was killed, occurred during a discussion of measures to combat cryptocurrency mining. This was reported on Thursday, December 19, by the Interfax agency, citing eyewitnesses.
According to the publication, a dispute broke out between the deputies at a committee meeting. After a verbal altercation, deputy Adgur Kharazia pulled out a pistol and fired in the direction of deputy Kan Kvarchia. MP Vakhtang Golandzia tried to separate the participants of the incident and received a fatal wound to the head.
Suspect Kharaziya fled the scene. Kvarchia, who received a tangential wound to the head and a through-and-through wound to the shoulder, is in intensive care.
The republic has announced the Interception plan, and measures are being taken to detain the suspect.

[X]Surely municipal London and England nationally have laws about blocking passage on public roads. Hopefully when Nigel Farage is elected prime minister he see to enforcement.

ENGLAND & the EU are paying for their open borders. It seems allowing mass migration with conflicting cultures, especially those sworn to your demise, is not a good idea.
ENGLAND & the EU are paying for their open borders.
[IsraelTimes] Winning bid is far higher than predicted; anonymous buyer will donate Samaritan-linked slab to Israeli institution, while some question its authenticity
Sotheby’s said the 115-pound (52-kilogram) marble slab was acquired by an anonymous buyer who plans to donate it to an Israeli institution.
The New York-based auction house said the final price exceeded the presale estimate of $1 million to $2 million and followed more than 10 minutes of “intense bidding” during the global competition.
The tablet dates from 300 to 800 CE and is inscribed with the commandments in Paleo-Hebrew script — the only complete example of its kind from antiquity, according to Sotheby’s.
It was unearthed during railroad excavations along the southern coast of Israel in 1913 and was not recognized as historically significant at first.
Sotheby’s said the tablet was used as a paving stone at a local home until 1943, when it was sold to a scholar who grasped its significance.
“A tangible link to ancient beliefs that have profoundly shaped global religious and cultural traditions, it serves as a rare testament to history,” the auction house said.
I wonder what caused her hair to turn purple like that? Was she frightened by a grape?
Separately, Congresswoman DeLauro is the most senior Democrat on the House appropriations committee, so her meltdown is legitimate. Just think how much more of the same she has to look forward to during at least the next two years and probably longer.

It looks like reflection from an overhead blue light.
Blue lights are often used to brighten and whiten the room and people within to make them look better on television. Normal lights are sorta warmish by their nature, thus blue is added.

At least 100 North Korean soldiers died, and over 1,000 were injured during combat in Kursk, Russia, South Korean lawmaker Lee Sung-kwon of the ruling party told reporters Thursday after a closed-door briefing with South Korea's National Intelligence.
U.S. and Ukrainian estimates suggest there are between 10,000 and 12,000 North Korean troops currently inside Russia, with their focus on the Kursk region.
... there were numerous North Korean casualties including senior officials during missile, drone attacks and drills, Lee said Thursday.
The reason why there were so many casualties despite a small number of battles is because North Korean soldiers were deployed as frontline shock troops in an unfamiliar open field and lack abilities to respond to drones, Lee said.
------------
The estimate by Ukraine has fewer causalties than the estimate by SKor.

It's the same old propaganda. "South Korean lawmaker Lee Sung-kwon of the ruling party told reporters Thursday after a closed-door briefing with South Korea's National Intelligence." Ukrainians say where are they? From South Korea, a Western puppet.

[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are engaged in heavy fighting in the east of Ukraine and in the Kursk region.
In the Kursk region, 47 armed clashes have already been recorded since the beginning of the day. Currently, Ukrainian troops are repelling 18 attacks.
Since the beginning of the current day, 103 combat clashes have occurred on the front. Almost half of the battles are taking place in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a report as of 16:00 on Thursday, December 19.
Thus, in the Kupyansk direction, the Russians tried to advance four times in the area of Lozovaya and Kolesnikovka. Three attacks were repelled, one combat clash continues.
In the Liman direction, seven armed clashes occurred near Tverdokhlebovoye, Zeleny Gai, Terny and in the Serebryansky forest. One armed clash is still ongoing.
In the Seversky direction, the enemy was advancing in the areas of Belogorovka, Grigorovka and Verkhnekamenskoye. In total, seven attacks were repelled, and another battle is ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, the enemy once attacked in the area of Chasovy Yar.
In the Toretsk direction, the invaders tried to advance eight times in the Toretsk and Shcherbinovka areas. Three attacks were successfully repelled, five combat clashes are ongoing.
The enemy remains highly active in the Pokrovsk direction . There have been 10 clashes of varying intensity near the settlements of Sukhaya Balka, Mirolyubovka, Promen, Lisovka, Dachenskoye, Solenoye and Novovasilovka. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have repelled nine attacks, and another battle is ongoing.
In the Kurakhovsky direction, three assaults near Solntsevka, Starye Terny, Andreyevka, Kurakhove and Dachnoye have been repelled. Five more clashes are ongoing.
In the Vremivsky direction, the aggressor attacked 10 times in the areas of Uspenovka, Konstantinopolskoye, Blagovatnoye, Neskuchnoye and Novodarovka. Three attacks were repelled, and seven more battles are ongoing.
In Kursk region, Ukrainian troops are repelling 18 attacks by Russians. In total, 47 clashes have already been recorded.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky stated that the Russians have been conducting intensive offensive operations in Kursk region for several days now. Units of the DPRK army are actively used there.
And today, during a direct line, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin refused to name a specific date for the return of part of the Kursk region.
[FoxNews] Elon Musk on Thursday sought to blame House Democrats for the failed spending bill, posting on X that the “plan b” legislation as a “super fair” and “simple bill” that earned the votes of just two Democrats in the chamber.
The new spending deal, which was wrangled to the floor for a vote by House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., Thursday, one day after Musk and President-elect Trump heavily opposed the first, bipartisan spending bill, failed to clear the House by a 174-235 vote.
Just two Democrats voted for the legislation, which Musk noted on Twitter.
“A super fair & simple bill was put to a vote and only 2 Democrats in Congress were in favor,” he said, adding that therefore, “responsibility for the shutdown rests squarely on the shoulders” of House minority leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.
Still, the number of Republicans who ultimately failed to fall in line Thursday evening could signal larger challenges ahead for Trump, who had sought to bend Johnson and others in the chamber’s GOP majority to his political will and pass through a new bill with a higher debt ceiling.
Thirty-eight Republicans also voted against the legislation, signaling more troubles potentially on the horizon.
Mr. Musk is climbing a steep learning curve, but I have faith he’ll figure it out. And in the meantime, the government shutdown is like being thrown in the briar patch for the Trump contingent of the Republican Party.

My biggest problem with a government "shutdown" is that they always shut down the things the public will notice the most. During one of the recent shutdowns they deliberately shut down things like the Washington Monument and the WWII memorial.
Of course, agencies do the same thing whenever their funding is threatened. Threaten the National Park service - they shutdown the Washington monument.

[Korrespondent] The enemy attempted to expand the bridgehead near the Oskol River.
Through the joint efforts of several units of the Defense Forces, two T-80 tanks and nine infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed, and one MT-LB, one armored personnel carrier, and eight infantry fighting vehicles were hit.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Defense Forces stopped the enemy's mechanized offensive, and also hit and destroyed 21 enemy armored vehicles. This was reported by the press service of the OSGV Khortytsia on Thursday, December 19.
Thus, on December 18, the enemy attempted to expand the bridgehead near the Oskol River. The enemy advanced in two columns of armored vehicles in two directions. However, the units of the Defense Forces did not allow the enemy to advance.
"As a result of the coordinated work of the units: the battalion of the shock BPAK Achilles of the 92nd separate assault brigade named after Koshevoy Ataman Ivan Sirko, paratroopers of the 77th separate airmobile Dnieper brigade and guards of the 1st Presidential operational brigade named after Hetman Petro Doroshenko Borey - 21 units of enemy armored vehicles were hit and destroyed," the statement said.
As specified, in particular, two T-80 tanks and nine infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed, one MT-LB, one armored personnel carrier and eight infantry fighting vehicles were damaged.
The press service also noted that, through the joint efforts of several units of the Defense Forces, the enemy’s mechanized offensive in the Kupyansk direction was repelled.
Let us recall that the General Staff reported that the enemy’s total combat losses from 24.02.22 to 19.12.24 were approximately 768,220 (1,530) people.
[FoxNews] The Pentagon says there are 2,000 U.S. troops deployed in Syria, more than double what officials with the Department of Defense have been telling reporters for months.
"We have been briefing you regularly that there are approximately 900 U.S. troops deployed to Syria," Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. Gen. Ryder told reporters during a press briefing on Thursday. "In light of the situation in Syria, and in significant interest, we’ve recently learned that those numbers were higher."
Ryder asked to look into the numbers and said he learned on Thursday that there are about 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria.
"It was explained to me these additional forces are considered temporary rotational forces that deploy to meet shifting mission requirements, whereas the core 900 deployers are on longer term deployments," he continued. "As you know, for many of our deployments, numbers will fluctuate from time to time, but given that this number is significantly higher than what we've been briefing, I wanted to let you know, as soon as I found out this information."
If it’s only temporary because of overlap, that’s happened before.
[NATIONALREVIEW] The Biden administration is allowing Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, and eleven other states to impose a gas-powered car ban by 2035 and to move forward with an electric vehicle mandate, a move that could set up a legal battle with the incoming Trump administration if it decides to revoke the regulations.
The Environmental Protection Agency announced Wednesday it granted California's waiver request to implement a regulatory package designed to scale down the use of gas-powered cars and facilitate an increase in the number of electric vehicles on the market.
The EPA reports to the president so their handwavium can be countered by his executive order. Didn’t the US Supreme Court recently rule that bureaucratic edict does not have the force of law?

The EPA green light for this CA rule cannot easily be undone. It will screw over our logistics fleet nationwide. If it was an EPA rule, it could be undone. Allowing the CA rule is not something that Trump can reverse. The best solution for this is for Paxton and friends to sue CA. That automatically goes to the Supreme Court.

[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The police chief of a small Nebraska city has come forward with a warning for New Jersey after his community was terrorized by mystery drones.
Ord, Nebraska Police Chief Chris Grooms revealed to DailyMail.com how Valley County, NE, and its surrounding regions, were besieged for weeks from December 2019 into January 2020 by 'upwards of 40-50' drone UFOs at a time.
Across nearly three weeks of nighttime encounters, typically between 7pm and 11pm, these inexplicable SUV-sized drones operated 'with impunity,' Chief Grooms said, and sometimes seemed to be 'toying with law enforcement.'
'A lot of reports by ranchers stated that these objects were harassing their horses or cattle on a nightly basis,' he added. Some of the drones reached speeds of 120mph.
The police chief said he 'finds it alarming' that the White House is insisting that the 'drone incursion over New Jersey is not a known threat' — particularly given that the size, shape and behavior of Nebraska's mystery drones matched those in Jersey.
While the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) looked into some of Nebraska's drone cases, part of a wave that covered Colorado and Kansas, all the agency could do was confirm with 'high confidence' that the craft were 'not covert military activities.'
While the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has downplayed the risks posed by these drones, their calming words have been contradicted by US military base officials, New Jersey mayors and NJ's state Coast Guard, among others.
Although misidentifications of conventional planes have been rife amid the growing public panic, reports by from US military officials across America and Europe, alongside local police, have told matching accounts of these car-sized drones.
Looking at the various blogs
I see a number of posters wondering IF the drone issue is why Biden and Harris were called back to the WH? But see more posters wondering if the WH Puppet Masters are cooking up a Political Hail Mary
[REUTERS] Four Canadian ministers publicly unveiled on Tuesday a border security plan they had privately presented to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... 's incoming administration, with an emphasis on surveillance, intelligence and technology.
Canadian ministers had an "encouraging" meeting with Trump's border czar Tom Homan, Public Safety, Finance and Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc told news hounds.
"I went through with Mr. Homan the information that we're sharing with you today... I'm encouraged by that conversation and by conversations I've had with the incoming Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick," LeBlanc said.
LeBlanc and his colleagues announced Tuesday a plan to beef up the U.S.-Canada border with helicopters, drones, surveillance towers and sniffer dogs, as well as a "joint strike force" to target transnational organized crime.
The embattled minority government of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North... says it will invest C$1.3 billion ($909 million) toward border security over six years. The plan focuses on fentanyl, irregular migration and organized crime.
Canada has been under pressure to beef up its border with the U.S. since Trump threatened Canada and Mexico with sweeping 25% tariffs if they did not stem the movement of migrants colonists and drugs into the United States.
U.S. authorities apprehended more than 23,000 people near the U.S.-Canada border in the 12 months ending in October, more than double the previous year but a tiny fraction of the 1.5 million people apprehended near the U.S.-Mexico border during that time.
Canadian police say they have installed more cameras and sensors over the most-traversed section of the border over the past four years.
Yet they acknowledge there is little they can do to stop southbound crossers.
Experts told Rooters the flurry of attention to the U.S.-Canada border is as much about perception as reality.

[MSN] On the eve of former President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... 's return to power, a new report is turning the story of the 2021 Capitol incursion on its head.
For four years, a Democratic-run "select" committee on Jan. 6, anti-Trump Republicans, and the establishment media have blamed Trump for the violence in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021, but the report released Tuesday accused Trump's acting defense secretary at the time, Christopher Miller, of defying Trump's specific orders.
It's the very first finding of the report, and it paints a scathing picture of Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments... 's "select" committee -- and former Rep. Liz Cheney ...dynastic pseudo-Republican politician from Wyoming, daughter of Richard Cheney. She was a part of the farcicle January 6th bipartisan committee, which resulted in over 1200 political prisoners being tossed into an American gulag. Cheney was roundly trounced in the next election, but that didn't let the prisoners out, did it? She will kept her pension.... 's role in the whole affair.
The report, "On the Failures and Politicization of the January 6 Select Committee," cited transcripts from interviews conducted by the Department of Defense Inspector General into the events surrounding the incursion.
In an interview with the IG, former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Mark Milley, a now-retired Army general, described Trump's words at a Jan. 3, 2021, meeting to prepare for the meeting of Congress to certify the results of the still-disputed 2020 election.
Milley summed up Trump's statement as:
"Hey, I don't care if you use Guard, or soldiers, active-duty soldiers, do whatever you have to do. Just make sure it's safe."
To most Americans, that would sound like an order from a commander in chief to his subordinate, but Miller told Nancy Pelosi's rigged Jan. 6 Committee that he chose to consider it "banter," the report noted on page 69.
Was it not his duty, then, to ask the question and get clarity? When you assume…
In fact, he told the IG interviewers, according to page 68 of the report: "There was absolutely -- there is absolutely no way I was putting U.S. Military forces at the Capitol.''
In addition, Miller told the Jan. 6 committee that he was influenced by a commentary piece published by The Washington Post on Jan. 3, 2021, signed by all 10 living former defense secretaries, calling on Miller by name to "refrain from any political actions that undermine the results of the election or hinder the success of the new team."

I really believe once he's convicted of treason, he should be burned at the stake on the white house lawn.

Wasn't Trump systematically fed misinformation about troop deployments during the last year of his term, effectively removing him from the position of CiC?
Ignoring orders given by a person who was de facto no longer recognized as command authority would have been logically consistent.

"Hey, I don't care if you use Guard, or soldiers, active-duty soldiers, do whatever you have to do. Just make sure it's safe."
Banter isn't something that matches the context, and clearly is cover for disobedience in this case! Trump was expressing his intent, and clearly by including the Guard, addressing the Posse Comitatus aspect of the issue...
Commanders Intent defined:
"Commander's intent is a key principle of the Army's mission command approach to command and control. It's a clear description of the desired end state of an operation, and it's the unifying focus for all subordinate elements.
Here are some components of commander's intent:
Expanded purpose: The greater purpose of the operation and its relation to the entire force
Key tasks: The activities the force must perform to achieve the desired end state
Conditions: The conditions that define the end state
Commander's intent is critical because it:
Helps communicate the vision clearly
Links the mission, concept of operations, and tasks to subordinate units Allows subordinate commanders to make decisions that fit within the higher commander's intent"
[NYPOST] The Idaho Board of Education approved efforts to ban diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in public universities on Wednesday.
After months of debating, the board unanimously agreed on a resolution that Idaho institutions cannot ''require specific structures or activities related to DEI.''
In summary, institutions ''shall establish and maintain equality of opportunity for all students regardless of personal identity characteristics,'' ''ensure that no central offices, policies, procedures, or initiatives are dedicated to DEI ideology'' and ''ensure that no employee or student is required to declare gender identity or preferred pronouns.''
The board defined DEI ideology as ''any approach that prioritizes 'personal identity characteristics' (race, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, or gender identity) over individual merit.''
In addition to banning mandatory gender identification, the board also prohibited diversity statements in hiring practices or any decisions regarding employment or education based on ''personal identity characteristics.''
The board also approved a resolution that mandated protections for free speech and expression on campuses.
''Institutions shall maintain political neutrality, protect speakers' rights to free expression, protect the safety of those participating in constitutionally protected speech, introduce campus communities to diverse viewpoints, and establish programs designed to educate students and faculty about the institutions' role as the marketplace of ideas,'' it read.
Text by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.
[ColonelCassad] From Putin's speeches on the topic of the SVO.
1. He did not name the exact dates of the end of the Central Military Operation and the operation in the Kursk Region.
2. Putin is confident that the enemy troops will be driven out of the Kursk Region. In other areas, the Russian Armed Forces are confidently advancing and have the initiative.
3. The enemy is using the bulk of NATO armored vehicles in the Kursk Region. The largest cemetery of NATO armored vehicles is now located there. Putin does not see any military sense in the enemy's offensive in the Kursk Region.
4. Putin called the problem of the lack of payments and the status of a participant in the Central Military Operation for the soldiers fighting in the Kursk Region a mistake by the authorities and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. This mistake will now be corrected. Everyone who fought (including conscripts) will be given the status of a participant in the Central Military Operation and will be paid all due payments retroactively. They will also make payments for destroyed NATO equipment. According to Putin, he did not know about the difference in payments for participants in the Counter-Terrorism Operation and participants in the Central Military Operation.
5. Putin does not know why "Oreshnik" is called "Oreshnik". Putin is confident in the combat capabilities of this system.
6. A large ring road similar to the Tavrida will be built around the Sea of Azov. Its construction has already begun.
7. 300,000 people have already returned to Mariupol. The restoration of the city continues.
8. Kursk Oblast will be completely restored. 108 billion rubles have already been allocated. And there will be more.
9. 20,000 different objects will be restored in the new regions in the next 5 years. The money for this has already been allocated.
10. Well, it is worth noting the flag of the 155th Separate Naval Infantry Brigade, which is engaged in the liberation of Kursk Oblast. A number of other units and formations were also noted.
The head of state answered 76 questions. Most often (14 questions) Putin was asked about a special military operation and events related to it.
The direct line, combined with a press conference, became one of the longest. In 2008, the president answered journalists' questions for 4 hours and 40 minutes.
By the start of the direct line, Putin had received more than 2.2 million requests. The head of state, in particular, answered questions about the progress of the special military operation, the development of the economy, the social sphere, and demography.
The president answered affirmatively to a question about whether he believed he had managed to fulfill the behest of his predecessor Boris Yeltsin and save Russia. The country was threatened with the loss of sovereignty, but it had pulled back from the brink, Putin said.
The head of state also stated that he cannot be completely happy until the soldiers return from the front and until the most important plans are implemented, including those related to demographic issues.
[RedState] In the days leading up to December 7th, 1941, plenty of the United States military leadership, especially those in the Pacific, knew that at some point we would find ourselves at war with the Empire of Japan. Japan had already invaded China, made a puppet state out of Manchuria that they called Manchukuo, and were gearing up for naval warfare in the world's largest theater of operations, the Pacific Ocean. That war began with the attack on Pearl Harbor, an attack intended to cripple the U.S. Pacific Fleet and bring the U.S. to the negotiating table - or to force our withdrawal to the West Coast.
That attack, we must note, was an attack by a major military power on a military base (well, for the most part) and was within the usual expectations of warfare. But today, we face another possible adversary in the Pacific, another nation with designs on its neighbors, and a nation that has thousands of its people within our borders, many illegally. On Thursday, Fox Business released a video of host Maria Bartiromo speaking with China expert Gordon Chang on China, the mysterious drones appearing over many of our military sites, and a lot more. In summary: Mr. Chang raised several key points explaining why he thinks China intends to hit us, one way or another.
On the topic of the mystery drones over some of our East Coast cities and our military bases around the country, Gordon Chang states:
It certainly is Communist China for many of these drones, maybe even a majority of them. You know, the increased tempo of these drone flights against our military bases is occurring at the same time as there is an increase of incursions and attempted incursions by Chinese and other nationals. Really what is occurring here is that they are preparing to attack the United States from American soil. I don't know why we need an engraved invitation from Beijing. It's clear what is going to happen. We are going to get hit and we are not taking the necessary precautions to protect these bases and to protect the American people.
When Mr. Chang mentions "Chinese and other nationals," it's important to remember that this is a direct consequence of the Biden administration's non-enforcement of the borders; we have essentially laid out a red carpet for invaders not only from China but from every other unfriendly country on the planet. Now there are millions of these people within our borders, and we have very little idea who they are, where they are, or what they are doing.
There is a lot of such activity going on right now. Chinese nationals are popping up near our military bases; Chinese interests are buying up farmland suspiciously close to some of these same bases, and now we have these drone overflights, which the Biden administration is reassuring us are nothing to worry about.
Now, will the incoming Trump administration make a difference? Maybe - for a while.
See Related: Trump Begins Smoking Out the CCP
In the interview, Maria Bartiromo asked Mr. Chang about our readiness:
* In all Dictatorships and Super Powers, will seek expansion.
* Some will even create a reason for a remote, perpetual conflict as a growth solution.
*The Elites will milk or rape the revenues & assets for all they can redirect thru back-channels and/or steal.
* The natural process calls for continued expansion for more resources and wealth.
* Overexpansion leads to inevitable remote conflicts.
* Conflicts grow and withdrawals start the collapse.
Once the collapse starts.
* The Elites will apply more political population division tactics to break the voters up into smaller groups against each other.
* The Elites will increase aggressive controls and tactics against their citizens, using installed the political division tactics.
* The Elites will use their control of and abuse the Media and Courts systems.
* The Elites will hold tribunals to against their own and/or create foes (like in 1984) for deflection.
BTW: We here in the USA are seeing a lot of this under the Biden Admin already, and we have a $36,248,000,000.00 growing national debt. As DC is spending $2+Trillion more each year, than is being taken in, in taxes.

[NATIONALREVIEW] An appellate court removed Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis (D) from the racketeering case against President-elect Donald Trump ...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried.... over her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.
Georgia's court of appeals ruled Thursday that Willis will be removed from the case because of the appearance of misconduct surrounding her relationship with Wade, but did not throw out the case all together.
''While we recognize that an appearance of impropriety is generally not enough to support disqualification, this is the rare case in which disqualification is mandated and no other remedy will suffice to restore public confidence in the integrity of these proceedings,'' the three judge panel ruled.
Willis and Wade's romantic relationship drew scrutiny earlier this year after it was revealed that Willis appointed Wade to the high-profile and lucrative special prosecutor post while the two were romantically involved and frequently taking lavish vacations together. Wade paid for the trips, though Willis insists she reimbursed him in cash. Wade stepped down from the case in March after Judge Scott McAfee gave them an ultimatum for one of them to step aside in order to restore integrity to the proceedings.
The proceedings against the former lovers began when Ashleigh Merchant, a defense attorney for one of Trump's co-defendants, accused them of secretly being romantically involved and argued Willis illegally appointed Wade.
Before the Trump case, Wade largely practiced law in areas unrelated to racketeering, to the point where he had to learn about the subject from an expert in Georgia's complex racketeering law, Wade testified earlier this year.

[Regnum] Russia is allegedly transferring S-300 and S-400 air defense systems from Syrian territory to Libya, the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) wrote on December 18, citing its sources.
Israel blows them up, Russia ships them out. The key agreement apppears to be that they’re not left behind for Al Nusra or ISIS to get their hands on.
Other Russian weapons are also being sent from Syria to the African country, according to unnamed American and Libyan officials. The sources claim that air defense systems, including radars for anti-aircraft installations, have already been delivered to eastern Libya. The eastern part of the country is controlled by commander Khalifa Haftar.
The article says that the Russian cargo plane arrived in eastern Libya twice in a week, with stops in Mali.
Sources also suggested that Russian troops and military aircraft would be withdrawn from Syria.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on December 12, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the Russian Federation is close to an agreement with the Syrian armed opposition on maintaining the Khmeimim airbase on the territory of the republic and its presence in the Tartus naval port. On December 14, the leader of the armed Syrian opposition, Ahmed al-Sharaa (known by the nickname Abu Mohammed al-Julani), said that the new authorities of the country "give Russia the opportunity" to reconsider relations with the Syrian people.
On December 16, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov noted that no final decisions regarding Russian military bases in Syria have been made yet. According to him, the Russian side is in contact with representatives of the forces that now control the situation on Syrian territory. The Kremlin representative added that everything will be determined during the dialogue.
For several years, Russia has supported the Syrian government led by Assad in its fight against terrorist forces. Moscow has pledged to provide support as long as the Syrian state itself is conducting military operations, noted Russian President Vladimir Putin. Back in 2015, he emphasized that “we are not going to be more Syrian than the Syrians themselves.”
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The knives have come out — and so has the truth.
Having been lied to for years by the Democratic Party machine and most of the mainstream media — who insisted Joe Biden was not diminished by his age but energized by it — well, it turns out we skeptics were right all along.
And what we're learning is terrifying. Infuriating. An unacceptable abuse of power, a usurpation of the presidency itself by a nameless, faceless cohort.
Will we ever know who these conspirators are?
Two bombshell reports out this week, in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, depict a president thoroughly out to lunch for his entire term: Top cabinet members unable reach him. Staff regularly taking his place at official events. Biden refusing to hold morning meetings but clocking out at 4pm — even though he naps every day and, in July, announced that he'd no longer hold events after 8pm.
How many hours has Joe Biden actually spent working? How was the 25th amendment not invoked? Was the danger of a President Kamala Harris — who the liberal media also tried to sell as viable — truly that unthinkable?
'Drain the swamp' resonates for a reason.
Meanwhile, Biden's campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz sought to deflect his boss's dereliction by, you guessed it, going after Trump.
Snip.
Now, will we get no less an official and public investigation into the hijacking of the US presidency as we did January 6? I would argue that this, the ultimate Biden family grift, is the greatest political scandal since Watergate.
Consider that not even Biden's top cabinet members, from the very beginning, had access to him on matters of national security, the economy or international crises.
In the run-up to the Afghanistan withdrawal in 2021 – which Biden was dead-set on executing, despite all best advice not to – the then-chair of the House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith, tried in vain to reach the president.
Smith told the Journal that he desperately wanted to relay his knowledge and grave concerns about the region. But Smith was rebuffed – and thirteen American service members died in that completely avoidable disaster.
Meanwhile, Lloyd Austin, Biden's Secretary of Defense, has reportedly had 'increasingly rare' direct contact with Biden over the past two years. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also had 'an arm's length relationship' with Biden over his entire term.
Yet White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, in July, soon after that debate, told this whopper: '[Biden] is as sharp as ever…. When I walk into the Oval Office […] I have to be on top of my game.'
Subpoena her. For real. Subpoena her – and all of Biden's top inner circle, the ones who kept him 'bodied', as one source said, to a degree unprecedented for any sitting US president: Ron Klain (former White House chief of staff), Mike Donilon (senior advisor) and Jennifer O'Malley Dillon (campaign manager) to name a few.
For that matter, call in Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Kamala Harris and Barack Obama, who apparently was running his third term from behind the curtain, Biden his useful idiot.
And last but certainly not least, Lady MacBiden herself, who knew her husband's sick state better than anyone, but tried to foist him on the country yet again.
If there's any justice, the post-White House book deals and board seats will vaporize as quickly as the Biden legacy.

So if he was non compense mentis does that mean anything he signed was even legal?
Absolutely none of his official acts during the last four years was legal. It should all be revoked and rescinded. All the money he gave away should be returned to the Treasury. All of his executive orders should be nullified. The people who pulled this hoax should all be exposed, shamed and prosecuted so that nobody is ever tempted to do it again.
Well, I can dream, can't I?
The article claims this is the biggest scandal since Watergate. I'd say Watergate pales in comparison to Biden. Nixon was legally elected, by a landslide for his second term. Watergate was a school boy prank. Nixon was a Boy Scout compared to the likes of Biden, Obama and the Clintons.

The Biden 2020 campaign was a farce from the get-go. Biden was demented before he took office.

Yes. After his performance in Iowa he was sort of fading away, then after he was selected as the only one in the group the machine could push across the line, then the machine ran cover.

[REGNUM] On the night of December 19, Israeli aircraft launched a massive strike on Yemeni territory controlled by the pro-Iranian Ansar Allah (Houthis) movement. The strike targeted port and energy infrastructure. However, Israel is becoming less and less fond of striking from afar as time goes on. They could always go after the Houthis’ supplier…
Air strikes are not cheap, and their destructive effect is not that great.
Not great? How would the writer define great in this context?
Israel is unlikely to be able to truly protect itself from the Houthis using such methods. Sooner or later, issues will have to be resolved effectively on the ground. But the problem is that it is not that easy to reach Yemen.
PREEMPTIVE STRIKES
The Israeli airstrike was the third major attack on the Houthis since they formally joined the Axis of Resistance. The Israeli army (IDF) carried out massive strikes on several military targets, including the ports of Ras Issa, Hodeidah and As-Salif, and on energy infrastructure in Sanaa.
In addition, several sea tugboats used by the Houthis in anti-Israeli operations were hit for the first time.
All of the tugboats, was the Israeli claim.
According to statements by IDF representatives at a briefing, the armed forces were tasked with paralyzing the activities of all Houthi-controlled ports as a response to the blockade of Israeli merchant ships. Fourteen fighter jets took part in the attack, which covered about 1,700 km to the target.
Fourteen spear tips, plus all those other things that made up the tail. Having accomplished it three times over Yemen, they could — in theory, at least — take a left toward, say, Iran…
The rhetoric of the Israeli command has also become noticeably tougher. They emphasize that Israel will not hesitate to conduct new operations throughout the Middle East.
Another interesting point is that for the first time in a long time, the Israeli operation was not a direct response to the Houthi attacks. By the time the next missile launch from Yemen began, IDF fighters were already approaching their targets.
Such changes indicate a change in the Israeli approach to actions in the Yemeni direction and the emergence of a greater “offensiveness” in their actions.
FROM HEAVEN TO EARTH
Israeli strikes on Yemeni territory have become larger and more destructive. This is acknowledged by the Houthi representatives who commented on the results of the latest raid. However, as is well known, aviation does not win wars. Especially when, due to Yemen's territorial remoteness, Israeli aircraft have to make a big detour, which inevitably leads to an increase in the cost of the operation.
Moreover, when comparing the cost of the operations with the actual destruction on the ground (and the damage from subsequent retaliatory actions by the Houthis), the effectiveness of the strikes raises more and more questions.
This, in turn, is giving rise to a debate about their appropriateness both in the General Staff and in the country's ruling circles. And although the Israeli opposition has not yet directly accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of extravagance, such attacks are unlikely to take long to come - as was previously the case with Gaza and Lebanon.
However, despite criticism from inside and outside the country, Israel has followed Lebanon with a ground operation in Syria. Thus, we see that Netanyahu is trying to squeeze the maximum out of the situation in the region by launching successive strikes against forces hostile to Israel. Given the experience of previous campaigns, sooner or later the Israeli leadership will face the question of a ground operation against the Ansar Allah movement.
I realize I have no military background and am therefore not qualified to judge, but that sounds nuts to me.
There are several scenarios of how such attacks could be carried out in the future.
The most obvious is the use of territories of countries neighboring Yemen as a springboard, primarily Saudi Arabia, which has the longest land border with Yemeni territories.
The expulsion of the Houthis from Sanaa (especially by proxy) would allow the Saudis to finally remove the issue of the “Yemeni threat” from the agenda and no longer worry about the security of their oil-producing regions, which have been repeatedly attacked by the Ansar Allah movement in the past.
Interest in this version is fueled, in particular, by rumors of a “strategic breakthrough” in negotiations on the possible normalization of relations between Tel Aviv and Riyadh.
Ah. Those Joooo-loving Saudis, enemies of our friends from Iran. Got it.
In addition, in light of Donald Trump’s imminent return to the White House, the Saudis expect to receive additional security guarantees from the United States, which will allow them not to fear retaliatory strikes from Iran if necessary.
However, such an open accession to the anti-Iranian front on the side of Israel does not fit into the general line that the Saudi leadership is trying to build. Largely because it would destroy all previous agreements with Tehran, and would again put Riyadh in a dependent position on the United States.
The second option involves creating a “jump-off point” in close proximity to Houthi targets, for example, on the Socotra archipelago, which is under the tacit control of the Emirates.
Previously, work on a joint base with Israel on the archipelago was frozen at the initiative of the UAE (as Abu Dhabi’s contribution to the inter-Yemeni settlement), but in case of urgent need, the facilities could be deployed again.
The appearance of Israeli forces on Socotra, although it will greatly simplify strikes on Houthi targets, will not be of much help in conducting a ground operation. The transfer of large forces through Socotra to the "mainland" will have to be organized literally under the close gaze of the enemy, which will deprive the Israelis of the element of surprise.
At the same time, the option of inviting a “limited Israeli contingent” into the country for joint counteraction to the Houthis from alternative centers of power (loyal to Saudi Arabia, the Emirates or Turkey) is considered utopian.
In Yemeni society, despite its segmentation, anti-Israeli sentiments and a sense of solidarity with the Palestinian people are still strong. In this regard, any attempts to legitimize the presence of Israeli units on Yemeni territory will be perceived with hostility, which will not add support to the already weakened factions.
Israel still has to find the key to the Yemeni and Arabian elites; otherwise, Tel Aviv will have to continue to threaten the Houthis exclusively from afar.

If they shut down the GIVERnment and no one notices. Then Elon and Vivek's job is complete. The essential parts of GIVERnment will continue to operate.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, man accused of plotting a coordinated attack with Wisconsin school shooter Natalie Rupnow has been pictured for the first time.
Alexander Paffendorf, 20, of Carlsbad, was detained by FBI agents on suspicion of 'plotting' to coordinate a mass shooting at an undisclosed government building.
Paffendorf admitted to agents that he had been messaging 15-year-old Rupnow about attacking a government building with a gun and explosives, according to court documents made public Wednesday.
A San Diego judge judge issued a restraining order Tuesday under California's gun red flag law against Paffendorf, requiring him to surrender any firearms and ammunition to police within 48 hours, and prohibited him from acquiring any more.
Shortly afterwards, neighbors told CBS 8 they saw more than a dozen police cars enter the apartment complex where Paffendorf lives on Tuesday night and saw officers coming out of the building carrying what was described as a 'black gun box.'
The order doesn't say what building he had targeted or when he planned to launch his attack. It also doesn't detail his interactions with Rupnow except to state that the man was plotting a mass shooting with her.
Paffendorf appears to live at the property raided by police with his father, address records revealed. A court hearing for Paffendorf is scheduled for January 3.
The 20-year-old seemingly has maintained a low-profile online, with DailyMail.com finding no social media accounts associated with his name. He is also 'touchy about getting his photo taken', according to a Facebook post from an account apparently linked to his father.
[GEO.TV] A senior White House official on Thursday said nuclear-armed Pakistain is developing long-range ballistic missile capabilities that eventually could allow it to strike targets outside of South Asia, including the United States.
Could, yes. Probably? I’d vote probably no. They’d use them on India long before turning their attention to faraway America, and India would trounce them as they’ve done every time before.
"Candidly, it's hard for us to see Pakistain's actions as anything other than an emerging threat to the United States," Finer said in a speech to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
The latest statement comes only a day after the US State Department said it was imposing additional sanctions related to Pakistain's ballistic missile programme, targeting four entities that it said were contributing to the proliferation or delivery of such weapons.
A good idea as a matter of principle — Pakistan can be trusted to be untrustworthy, just like the Palestinians can be trusted to miss an opportunity.. If only the State Department had taken the same approach to Iran…
The statement, issued on the State Department's website, said that the decision was taken "in light of the continuing proliferation threat of Pakistain’s long-range missile development".
It added that the four entities were being designated for sanctions pursuant to Executive Order (EO) 13382, which targeted proliferators of weapons of mass destruction and their means of delivery.
"Pakistain’s National Development Complex — which is responsible for Pakistain’s ballistic missile program and has worked to acquire items to advance Pakistain’s long range ballistic missile program — and Affiliates International, Akhtar and Sons Private Limited, and Rockside Enterprise — which have worked to supply equipment and missile‐applicable items to Pakistain’s ballistic missile program, including its long range missile program — are being designated pursuant to E.O. 13382 Section 1(a)(ii) for having engaged, or attempted to engage, in activities or transactions that have materially contributed to, or pose a risk of materially contributing to, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or their means of delivery (including missiles capable of delivering such weapons), including any efforts to manufacture, acquire, possess, develop, transport, transfer, or use such items, by Pakistain," read the statement.

[IsraelTimes] IDF investigating reports that an 80-year-old woman was killed during clashes in Nablus; top terror operative killed in Tulkarem strike
At least six Paleostinians were killed and several more injured in raids by Israeli forces in the West Bank, authorities said Thursday, as the military sought to clamp down on rising terror activity across the territory.
At least one civilian, an 80-year-old woman, was among those killed, the Paleostinian Authority said.
In Tulkarem, a dronezap killed four Paleostinian button men, according to the Israel Defense Forces and Shin Bet. Another three Paleostinians were seriously injured, according to the PA health ministry.
During the Tulkarem raid, troops used bulldozers to destroy infrastructure and seal off entrances to the city, according to the Ottoman Turkish Anadolu news agency.
The IDF and Shin Bet said later Thursday that the dronezap had killed a senior terror operative who was being financed by Iran, alongside three other Paleostinian button men.
According to the Shin Bet, the target of the strike was Tariq al-Doush, who it identified as one of the commanders of a terror network in Tulkarem.
The Shin Bet said that al-Doush worked to recruit operatives in the past year to carry out attacks, who would be armed with Iranian financing via operatives in Leb ...an Iranian satrapy until recently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel... The operatives in Lebanon who were in contact with al-Doush are members of the Makdah family, who the Shin Bet has accused in the past of working with the IRGC to advance terror attacks in the West Bank.
The network that al-Doush headed was involved in several shooting attacks against IDF troops, checkpoints, and Israeli towns near the West Bank security barrier, the agency said, adding that the network planned to carry out attacks in Israel as well.
Alongside al-Doush, three other button men were killed, including Dosem al-Awfi, who the Shin Bet said was a prominent member of the Tulkarem terror network.
Elsewhere in the West Bank on Thursday, Paleostinian officials charged that Israeli forces had killed two people, one of them an 80-year-old woman, and injured several others during a raid near Nablus.
The military said that it was looking into the reported deaths, without providing additional information.
The PA health ministry in Ramallah said Halima Abu Leil, 80, was fatally shot in the chest and leg during a raid in the Balata refugee camp near Nablus. The Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy confirmed her death after transporting her to the hospital.
A short while later, the ministry announced the death of a second Paleostinian, a 25-year-old man.
Both the Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... terror group and the al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade, the armed wing of Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....> ’s Fatah party, claimed that the second person killed, Qusai Sarouji, was a fighter in their respective terror organizations.
At least four others were maimed during the raid, it said, including two men aged 21 and 22, a 65-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds, and another individual injured by bullet shrapnel.
The Red Islamic Thingy also accused Israeli forces of firing at its ambulances, "obstructing the delivery of humanitarian and medical services inside the camp."
There was no immediate comment on the accusation by the IDF.
The army said Thursday it had operated in the West Bank to survey the homes of three Death Eaters responsible for a deadly terror attack earlier this year, ahead of their potential demolitions.
In August, 23-year-old Yonatan Deutsch was killed near the Mehola Junction on Route 90, the main north-south artery in the West Bank’s Jordan Valley. Hamas took responsibility for the attack.
"The mapping was carried out in preparation for examining the possibility of demolishing the terrorist’s house," the army said.
Since October 7, troops have arrested some 6,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,350 affiliated with Hamas.
According to the PA health ministry, more than 716 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or Death Eaters carrying out attacks.
During the same period, 42 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another six members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.
[FoxNews] Abdullah Azz al-Din Taha Muhammad Hassan, an Egyptian citizen, was slated to be deported
An Egyptian man living in Virginia who was slated to be deported has been charged with planning an attack on the Israeli consulate in New York City.
Abdullah Azz al-Din Taha Muhammad Hassan allegedly provided bomb-making instructions and plans on how to attack the Manhattan consulate to an undercover FBI source, according to court documents. He was arrested Tuesday, the FBI told Fox News Digital.
Another vicious idiot whose very bestest BFF turns out to be an FBI informant. Send him home to trouble the Egyptian government.
Hassan is charged with distribution of information relating to explosives, destructive devices and weapons of mass destruction in furtherance of the commission of a federal crime.
"The FBI’s New York Office wants to reassure our Jewish community here in New York that our office — along with our law enforcement partners — remains vigilant in our efforts to identify, investigate and disrupt potential threats to our community, using every tool at our disposal to do so. As always, we urge all community members to report suspicious activity to law enforcement and call 911 in cases of imminent violence or threats to life," the FBI said in a statement.
"We will continue working to ensure our communities remain safe places for all, and we thank the public for their continued trust and partnership."
Hassan caught the FBI's attention after the Fairfax County Police Department informed federal authorities that a tipster alerted police about his social media posts on X. The tipster said the account engaged in "radical and terrorist-leaning behavior."
In several posts, Hassan praised the Islamic State terror group and other radical figures, federal prosecutors said. In August, he began messaging with an FBI confidential source whom he believed he recruited to conduct a "mass casualty attack," authorities said.
Over several weeks, Hassan directed the informant on how to make a bomb, acquire weapons and how to make a "martyrdom video," authorities said. In November, he allegedly selected the Consulate General of Israel as the target of the attack, saying it would be easier to commit an attack using small arms and be "martyred" by the police.
He believed New York would be "a gold mine of targets" for an attack, prosecutors said. As the pair planned the attack, Hassan also allegedly told him to book flights to countries without extradition agreements with the United States. During the attack, Hassan said the source could either murder people at the consulate with an assault rifle or detonate an explosive vest while standing in a group of targets, court documents state.
Hassan also asked for the source to livestream the attack so he could watch it in real time, authorities said.
In a statement, Jonathan Harounoff, the international spokesperson for Israel's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, said the Jewish state "will not cower to terror."
"We will not be silent in the face of hate and violence," he said. "We will not stop in our pursuit of justice and peace. We will continue in our fight to return all 100 of our hostages still being held in Hamas terror tunnels in Gaza."
Ofir Akunis, Israel's consul general in New York, expressed gratitude to authorities for thwarting the alleged attack.
"This attempted attack by terror organizations is an attack on the sovereign soil of the State of Israel in its entirety," he wrote on X. "It's proof that terror knows no boundaries and that we must fight it everywhere and every time. The threat it poses to the western world and its values must be fought together by all western democracies alike. Together we will prevail."
The FBI "Affidavit in Support of a Criminal Complaint and Arrest Warrant" noted that Hassan is an Egyptian national living in Falls Church, Virginia, and — surprise — is apparently in the country illegally, as the affidavit notes that he is currently in removal proceedings with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The affidavit also described social media posts made by Hassan threatening attacks, "Praying for an ISIS masterclass," and "revering" Osama bin Laden and Ayman Al Zawahiri.
The FBI affidavit that led to Hassan's arrest may be viewed here.
What information is available as of this writing — the affidavit alone contains quite a lot — paints quite a vivid picture of a committed Islamic terrorist, willing and able to carry out terror attacks on American soil and who, by the way, has no business being in the country. What isn't clear is how he came to be here in the first place, although the affidavit mentions a Verizon account belonging to Hassan's father, whose whereabouts are not mentioned.
The suspect, Abdullah Ezzeldin Taha Mohamed Hassan, an 18-year-old Egyptian national living in Falls Church, Virginia, instructed an FBI informant to carry out the attack, according to a criminal complaint filed on Monday. He was later confirmed by the Washington Post to be a freshman at George Mason University.

I added location searches of the Rantburg archive to the article.
The result tickled my memory, so I did a deeper search, which revealed that Falls Church contains the Dar al-Hijrah mosque, notorious for Al Qaeda links including hiring Anwar al-Awlaki as their imam. Fred’s auto-translate for him says
... Born in Las Cruces, New Mexico, zapped in Yemen, al-Awlaki was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Yemen. He was an Islamic holy man who was a trainer for al-Qaeda and its franchises. His sermons were attended by three of the 9/11 hijackers, by Fort Hood murderer Nidal Malik Hussein, and Undieboomer Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. He was the first U.S. citizen ever placed on a CIA target list...
[NY Post] GOPe: I remember him shrieking like a little bitch at Trump recommending hydroxychloroquine - "It will kill you!" He hated Trump because Cavuto was Deep State Big Biz. Good riddance

He was good when all he did was economic news. Then he had to do politics. He's a Trump hater, propagated the lies, and now he's a nobody. Good riddance.
