Warnings after woman is burned by 'nether region steaming'
[BBC] Gynaecologists are warning of the potential risks of vaginal steaming after it emerged a Canadian woman burned herself attempting one.

A case study, involving a 62-year-old, was published in the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Canada.

The woman had been suffering from a prolapsed vagina and believed the treatment could help avoid surgery.

Vaginal steaming, which involves sitting over a hot water and herb mix, has seen a growth in popularity.

It and other treatments for intimate areas, including vulva facials, are now available at some salons and spas.

The LA Times first reported on the steaming trend in 2010, and it later gained widespread attention when Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop brand recommended it.

Last year, US model Chrissy Teigen also shared a photograph of herself undergoing the treatment.

Like most reality challenged, science is just a magic word invoked to protect what they believe. They don't believe is has any real impact on their life, you know, steam burns, a juice cleanse will make you drop 20 pounds, etc.

It was a sad realization to me when I truly understood that yes, people are just that stupid.

Teen Armed with 9MM Defends Home against Attackers
[Breitbart] 14-Year-Old Shoots at Intrusion Suspects to Save Her Sisters

WSAZ reports that three teenage girls were alone at home when the intrusion suspects allegedly tried to make entry. They were alone because the father of the home was working and the mother "at the store."

Two men allegedly pulled up in a car and one exited and "repeatedly tried to gain entry by trying to kick in the doors."

The suspect then allegedly went into the backyard with a shovel, preparing to break out a window. The 14-year-old located a 9mm handgun and loaded it. She then noticed the suspect with the shovel and the driver of the car were allegedly arguing and she fired a shot in their direction.

The men responded to the gunshot by fleeing the scene.

Fox 8 reports that the 14-year-old was the youngest of the three sisters at home at the time alleged intrusion was attempted.
Just the sort of thing needed right now. God bless the attackers (in the very short term), but may he also kill them later.

Man goes on knife rampage in southern California; 4 dead
There are many people who get triggered and react in violent ways to the news. In this case it was in southern California. The Perp was Hispanic and all the victims were Hispanic. That’s not unlikely in southern California. The perp drove a silver Mercedes. That’s unusual in these mass killing sprees. The common thread between the most recent mass murders and others is anger and insanity. Regardless that the weapons used were knives in theses crimes, look for a call for gun control in the left and MSM.
[DailyMail] A man killed four people and wounded two in a string of robberies and stabbings in California's Orange County before he was arrested, police said Wednesday.

The 33-year-old Garden Grove man was taken into custody after he came out of a 7-Eleven store and dropped a knife and a gun that he had taken from a security guard before fatally stabbing him, police said. His name wasn't immediately released.

The violence appeared to be random and the only known motives appear to be 'robbery, hate, homicide,' Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said at a news conference.

'We know this guy was full of anger and he harmed a lot of people tonight,' he said.

The attacks took place over about two hours in Garden Grove and neighboring Santa Ana, southeast of Los Angeles.
Whitney said police first answered a burglary report at an apartment, where no one was hurt, he said.

Whitney said a bakery was robbed; an insurance business was robbed and a woman was stabbed several times in the back. She is expected to survive.

The 'random' two-hour crime spree across Orange County and Santa Ana left four people dead and two injured
A caller reported watching the stabbing from closed-circuit television, Whitney said.

Police were called back to the same apartment complex, where two men had been stabbed. One died on a balcony and another died at a hospital, Whitney said.

A check-cashing business also was robbed, as well as a gas station where a man was slashed so badly that his nose was nearly severed, Whitney said.

The suspect's silver Mercedes was tracked to the parking lot of the 7-Eleven store in Santa Ana where the security guard was disarmed and fatally stabbed, Whitney said. An employee of a nearby Subway store was also killed.

The suspect and all the victims were Hispanic, Whitney said.

#2  Iodine 131 is a short lived, and thus highly radioactive fission product.

If this is a big concern nuclear reactor damage is most likely.

A nuclear explosion or fizzle is less likely as it would produce a smaller amount of fission products compared to a continuously operating reactor.

#5  Evidently, Ivan has had TWO accidents in the last 72 hours.

One (from this story) of a ballistic missile blowing up (may have had a nuclear warhead) at a Russian missile testing facility.

And the other from a couple of days ago in central Russia turned out to be from a massive blast of conventional ordinance. (It looks like they learned nothing from their massive accident back in 1981(?) all the bunker doors were open)
Posted by: The peanut gallery || 08/08/2019 21:24 Comments || Top||

#6  Maybe they were testing the nuclear propulsion of their new cruise missile.

Iodine 131 has a half life of only 8 days. Its presence indicates recent nuclear fission activity, especially if it poses a health hazard.

US Navy Drops Afghanistan Detainee Abuse Charges Against 4 SEALs
[MIL.com] SAN DIEGO -- The U.S. Navy has dropped charges against four SEALs involving alleged abuse of detainees in Afghanistan in 2012.

Navy Region Southwest commander Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar announced Tuesday the dismissal of charges against Lt. Jason Webb, Chief Petty Officers David Swarts and Xavier Silva, and Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel D'Ambrosio.

"Military prosecutors informed Admiral Bolivar that the evidence from the 2012 case has degraded to the point where they believe obtaining convictions is no longer likely," a Navy statement said.

Swarts' defense attorney Colby Vokey told The San Diego Union-Tribune the dismissal was long overdue.

Home Front: Culture Wars
Heading for civil war
Donald Trump’s opponents are completely unhinged. The hate and slander directed towards the president and his supporters is off the charts. The vitriol comes not just from the Democrat Party, the media, and the world of entertainment, but also from a sizable proportion of the federal bureaucracy and many seemingly ordinary people.

The media coordinates this campaign and amplifies the hate at every opportunity. Media twist every event, be it big or small, into a criticism of the president. The goal is always to present Trump in not just an unfavorable light but to make him appear too loathsome for polite society. And Trump is not the sole target of this demonization. It is directed at his supporters, too.

Where will all this lead?

#1  Disturbing. Before this past week, I'd have dismissed concerns about civil strife, but now I'm not so sure.

When a Congressman calls on people to doxx and harass specific individuals in his district for the crime of supporting Trump, we've crossed the Rubicon.

That congressman is fomenting actual violence against specific targets.

This is beyond vile. It's playing with fire.
Posted by: Lex || 08/08/2019 8:26 Comments || Top||

#2  It's not directed at his supporters as some kind of afterthought. They HATE us, period. There isn't any making nice and there are no concessions sufficient enough, they HATE us. The people who voted for and will probably vote for the President again are commonly de-humanized and demonized as sub human.

Where it all leads is still up for grabs, where they want it to lead is painfully obvious.

Woman says meth found hidden inside vagina is not hers
h/t Instapundit
A Louisiana woman allegedly caught with meth hidden inside her vagina said she didn't know where the drugs came from, police said.

Ashley Beth Rolland, 23, was accused on July 31 of stealing $5,000 from the apartment of a man she'd been staying with for about a week, according to documents published by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.

The man told the West Monroe Police Department that while he was showering, Rolland swiped his cash and left. Rolland allegedly confessed to police she did take the man's money and left his apartment.

The documents said a female correctional officer later searched Rolland and, inside of Rolland's vagina, discovered $6,233 along with "a clear plastic bag" of roughly one gram of meth ‐ which Rolland denied was hers.

Rolland was arrested and charged with theft and narcotics possession, online records from the sheriff's office state. As of Tuesday, she remained behind bars in lieu of $8,000 bond.
And she's not even from Florida

Pres. Trump says he's considering a commutation for imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blago: ‘I thought he was treated unbelievably unfairly'
[Chicago Tribune] President Donald Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday night that he is "very strongly" considering commuting the federal corruption sentence of disgraced and imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

Speaking to reporters after making visits to Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas, following mass-shootings in those cities over the weekend, Trump said he thought the former Democratic governor had been mistreated. Blagojevich had been a fired contestant on Trump’s former NBC show, "The Celebrity Apprentice."

"I thought he was treated unbelievably unfairly; he was given close to 18 years in prison," Trump, a Republican, said. "And a lot of people thought it was unfair, like a lot of other things ‐ and it was the same gang, the Comey gang and all these sleazebags that did it."

The president’s reference to "Comey" involves former FBI Director James Comey whom Trump has repeatedly criticized, contending he sought to politicize the nation’s top law enforcement agency in the 2016 election in which Trump faced Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. After taking office, Trump fired Comey amid an investigation into his campaign’s alleged contacts during the election with Russian emissaries.

Blagojevich, who served as Illinois governor from 2003 until his impeachment and removal from office in 2009, was sentenced to 14 years on federal corruption charges after his December 2011 conviction.

Blagojevich was convicted of attempting to use his office to personally benefit, offering the former U.S. Senate seat of then-President-elect Barack Obama for barter, but also for trying to use his official office to gain a prosperous job or gain campaign funds in exchange for his actions.

Who is Joseph Grendys
[Wiki] Joseph C. Grendys (born 1961/62) is an American billionaire poultry slaughterer, the chairman, chief executive officer (CEO) and president of Koch Foods.

Grendys was born in Chicago in the early 1960s. His father was a butcher who was also involved in the wholesale and retail meat trade. His grandparents emigrated to the US from Poland.

He was educated at Holy Cross High School in River Grove, and worked at Koch Foods part-time while a student.[2] In 1984, he received a bachelor's degree in Finance and Marketing from Loyola University.

Grendys started full-time at Koch Foods in the mid-1980s, when it had just 13 employees.[1] The owner Fred Koch was one of his father's customers, having started Koch Foods in 1973, and offered him a 50% equity share in the business.

He bought out Fred Koch in 1992. Grendys' companies now slaughter, ship and sell chicken using the Koch Foods, Antioch Farms, Preferred Foods and Rogers Royal brands. Koch slaughters over 12 million chickens and processes over 50,000,000 pounds (23,000 t) of chicken every week.

In 2011, Koch employed 14,000 people, had an annual turnover of $2.8 billion, and was one of America's five largest "fully-integrated chicken processors".

In a 2014 interview, Grendys stated that he planned to acquire more companies and that he might branch out into another protein, but that he was "not sure what that protein would be yet". Rather than running a chicken company, he sees it as "the business of converting corn and soybeans into meat protein".

As of February 2018, Forbes estimated his net worth at US$2.9 billion.

His company Koch Foods has been dogged by accusations of racism and abusive working conditions.

LB, -0.46% wrote to members of his Wexner Foundation that the missing funds were uncovered after Wexner decided in 2007 to sever ties with Epstein. Wexner began the separation process after allegations against Epstein surfaced involving sexual abuse of underage girls.

"We discovered that he had misappropriated vast sums of money from me and my family," Wexner wrote in the letter, which was reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. "This was, frankly, a tremendous shock, even though it clearly pales in comparison to the unthinkable allegations against him now."
Shocked I tell you, SHOCKED !
In January 2008, Epstein transferred $46 million worth of investments to a Wexner charitable fund, tax records show. Wexner said the transfer was only a portion of the funds that his money manager had allegedly misappropriated. "All of that money ‐ every dollar of it ‐ was originally Wexner family money," he wrote. Last month, Epstein pleaded not guilty to sex-trafficking charges stemming from what federal prosecutors alleged was a yearslong scheme to procure and sexually abuse dozens of girls. He faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted. Epstein has been denied bail and is in federal custody.

Just now getting around to mentioning the pocket change loss is he? Planning to fog the courts and media with pre-planned criminal activity? Good luck, it didn't work for Comey.

#2  The Cut - “It’s a weird relationship,” a Wall Streeter who reportedly knew Epstein told New York at the time. “It’s just not typical for someone of such enormous wealth to all of a sudden give his money to some guy most people have never heard of.”

Mr. Wexner may have been provided some very specific instructions. Perhaps Ghislaine Maxwell could shed some light on ths apparent mystery.

‘The Squad' Is the Future of the Democratic Party You can credit social movements for that.
[NYT] Representative Ayanna Pressley broke with traditional diversity politics last month when she said at a conference in Philadelphia, "we don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice." Instead, "we need you to represent that voice."

The members of the so-called squad who were also on the panel nodded in agreement. They are the defiant and unapologetic voices of the communities that produced them. Since being elected last fall, these four progressive Democratic congresswomen have pushed the limits of what most liberals mean by the contested term "diversity. "

Some of their colleagues may have preferred that they simply come in and add color to the room ‐ but in every other way behave as their long-established white predecessors have.

But they have a different agenda. They have a transformative notion of diversity that comes with a different set of expectations and metrics. They insist on bringing the concerns of historically marginalized communities into the rooms where decisions are made, even when that is seen as impolite or inappropriate.

This is evident through their politics, priorities and style ‐ not only their presence. Consider Rashida Tlaib’s "Lift + Act" bill, which comes as close as any to advancing the radical economic principle of universal guaranteed income that Martin Luther King Jr. so eloquently advocated some 50 years ago.

They’re exposing the false belief that American foreign policy is infallible. This is exemplified by their critique of Washington’s unconditional support for Israel. And recall the memorable hearing in February when Ilhan Omar challenged Elliott Abrams, a Trump administration official, over his role in supporting Central American death squads in the 1980s.

All of them, along with some other Democrats, have called for the outright abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement because of its widely publicized mistreatment of migrant families and children.

The squad understands that "diversity" is meaningless if the measure of success is "sameness." The congresswomen are choosing to do politics a different way because they recognize that Congress has never worked for their communities.

Meet the companies fighting to save New World Order in the Age of Trump
[World Tribune] When one thinks of the Council on Foreign Relations, images of a powerful, moneyed and thoroughly connected edifice come to mind. So it’s a bit surprising to discover that this group that so epitomizes well-heeled globalism depends upon funding by rich foundations and corporate donations like so many smaller activist organizations do.

Alongside well-known leftist globalist foundations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and yes, of course, George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, a "grateful" CFR acknowledges the companies that "have provided support for specific projects and initiatives" undertaken by the group. CFR donor lists for 2016-17 and 2017-18 reveal that certain corporations sponsor specific programs dedicated to furthering the organization’s globalist and anti-nationalist agenda.

James M. Lindsay is a senior vice president at CFR who "oversees the work of the more than six dozen fellows in the David Rockefeller Studies Program." Globalization and Politics and Government are listed among his subjects of "expertise."

Olde Tyme Religion
Unforgivable Sin Now Thought To Be Whiteness
[Babylon Bee] U.S.‐Scholars have long debated what the unforgivable sin is. Now one group of Bible experts says they've figured it out: it's whiteness.

The scholars revealed their updated translation of Jesus's words in Mark 3:

"Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins, but anyone who's white will never be forgiven. This is the eternal sin."

"People have proposed that when Jesus talked about the one unforgivable sin He was talking about denying Him repeatedly," Dr. Varucci Martinez said, addressing the coalition of scholars gathered to codify the new proposal. "But it's obvious now that it's being unrepentantly white. That's clearly the only thing God won't forgive you for: being a white person and not trying to do better and atone for it throughout your life."

Dr. Martinez then led the assembled scholars in a chant of "Do better! Do better!" before participating in a symbolic but also very literal hanging of a white man onstage.

Several Christian leaders suggested that white people either get a skin transplant, constantly moan about being white, or even just kill themselves if they want to repent.

"It seems like this still won't get you off the hook, since your whiteness is unforgivable, but maybe if God sees how much you hate yourself He'll have some leniency," they said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Palestinian who saved Jewish kids after terror attack gets Israeli residency
[IsraelTimes] Man forced to flee West Bank after death threats for rescuing children of murdered Rabbi Miki Mark at scene of 2016 attack; has been homeless, living in limbo in Israel.

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri on Tuesday awarded Israeli residency to a Paleostinian man who saved the children of a West Bank rabbi in the aftermath of the deadly terror attack in which the father was killed.

Rabbi Miki Mark was murdered in a July 1, 2016, shooting. His wife, Chava, was maimed, and their two teenage children were also hurt. The Paleostinian rescuer and his wife, residents of the Hebron area, helped the surviving members of the Mark family escape their overturned vehicle and administered first aid until first responders arrived at the scene.

The Paleostinian man, who has not been named, received a temporary visa to live and work in Israel after receiving death threats in his hometown near the West Bank city of Hebron.

However,
if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well...
the visa was not renewed in August 2018 and for the last year he was unable to work, becoming homeless and living in limbo in Israel.

After his plight was revealed recently in a Channel 12 report, and following a campaign by several Israelis, including settler leaders, he was awarded Israeli residency on Tuesday, along with his wife and son.

While presenting him his identity documents, Deri praised him for his "selfless, noble" actions and said he would now be able to begin a new life in Israel.

The residency entitles him to a work permit and social benefits, Deri said.

West Bank settler leader Yossi Dagan, the head of the Samaria Regional Council, who had campaigned for the Paleostinian to be given residency, said it was the "moral and righteous thing to do for a man who risked his life to save Jews."

Three years ago the Paleostinian man described what happened at the scene of the terror attack.

After he managed to pry one of the doors open, the man said he pulled 14-year-old Tehila Mark from the wrecked car. He said his wife, who is a medical doctor, worked to stanch the bleeding from the teen’s abdominal wound while he called an ambulance.

"She was telling them in English, ’Do not be afraid, we are here to help you,’" he recalled.

The man said he then removed 15-year-old Pedaya Mark from the car, and attempted to calm him.

"I took the boy and I hugged him. I gave him some water and applied iodine, and just kept telling him that everything was going to be fine," he said. "It doesn’t matter to me if it was an accident or a terror attack, it’s irrelevant. These are people, children, who need help, and if I can help, I will help them.

"The girl told me, ’God sent an Arab to help us,’" he added.

Democrats Propose Creation Of National Trump Voter Registry
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐Congressional Democrats recently noticed a problem in our nation: many of the people who voted for Donald Trump have yet to be beaten up.

Our Democratic leaders in Washington decided it was time to solve this problem because they are really good at identifying problems we didn't even know we had and then solving them.

Presidential candidate Joaquin Castro, who spearheaded the program, explained, "The solution is simple and cost-effective: a national Trump Voter Registry, forcing anyone who voted for Trump to register so people around them will be able to be cautious and vigilant while living among such reckless hate."

Anyone who voted for Trump will have to sign up on the national registry's website. Then, their name and address will automatically appear on a map of the country so that their neighbors can avoid them and hopefully beat them up.

The bill also contains many other requirements for Trump voters:

  • They cannot live within 1,000 feet of a school, park, or civilized Democrat.
  • They must knock on all doors of other people in their neighborhood when they move in and identify themselves as a Trump voter.
  • They are required to wear their MAGA hats at all times so they can easily be identified as a legitimate target of harassment.
  • They must hire a crier to go before them and shout "SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!" whenever they go outside.
  • They are not allowed to get a job or conduct commerce unless they agree to get the Mark of Obama on their hand and forehead.

"With this new registry, we can finally have healing in our nation," said Nancy Pelosi. "Especially Trump voters. They'll have to have a lot of healing after they get punched in the face."

Democratic Dystopia: End Anglo-America, Welcome The World, Evict The Unborn
[Barley a Blog] How does one distill the worldview of the Democrats vying for their party’s presidential nomination?

Outrace each other on racial righteousness?

End Anglo-America? Welcome The World? Evict the unborn? Speak Spanish; English is your second language?

    All the above‐and worse.

On display, again, during the second in a series of Democratic primary debates were the racial (read anti-white) dynamics.

Genial uncle Joe Biden, a meek WASP, bowed and scraped to his multicultural rivals, whereupon they set upon him like a flash mob; a multicultural mugging, Pat Buchanan called it.

Race‐more accurately, anti-white politics‐is the Democrats’ central cri de coeur. They have no other passion other than hounding and excommunicating others for what are thought crimes‐for thinking, speaking or tweeting in politically unpleasing ways.

But practicing ageism gives these social-justice warriors no pause. There’s no social justice for the aged in Democratic politics.

Leading the purge of the party’s elders was Eric Swalwell, a nasty bit of work who had mercifully dropped out after the first round of debates, late in June. At the time, Swalwell had demanded that older Democrats "pass the torch." "[I]t’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans."

"If we are going to solve the issue, pass the torch. If we are going to solve climate chaos, pass the torch. If we want to end gun violence and solve student debt, pass the torch."

Swalwell obviously thought such ugly sloganeering was a winning strategy. And who can blame him? However, other than a writer for the cause at the Atlantic, the representative from northern California galvanized nobody with his call to expunge Democrats in their dotage. "The Millennial Left Is Tired of Waiting," said writer intoned. Curiously, that magazine is packed with verbally incontinent Millennials, yet still makes for a monotonous, monolithic read.

4 DEAD, more critically wounded in series of stabbings in California
I’m shocked — no scary black assault weapon gun shooting bullets was used in creating six casualties.
GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- Four people are dead, two others are injured, and a suspect is in custody after a series of stabbings and robberies in Orange County Wednesday afternoon, police say.

The Garden Grove Police Department said it started when the suspect, a 33-year-old Garden Grove resident, attempted to rob a bakery on Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove.

He then traveled to an apartment complex in the 12000 block of Jentges Avenue, where one person was stabbed to death. A second person with multiple stab wounds was taken to a hospital and later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

Two more robberies occurred at local businesses in the area. One woman was stabbed at an insurance businesses in Garden Grove. She is expected to survive.

Police then responded to reports from a Chevron gas station on Harbor Boulevard. Police said a man was pumping gas when the suspect approached him. He suffered lacerations to his face, and his nose was almost severed off, but he is expected to survive.

The suspect then made his way over to nearby Santa Ana, where another person was fatally stabbed at a Subway parking lot on 1st Street.

Census Bureau Seeks to Hire Non-U.S. Citizens Ahead of 2020
[US News] Special exemptions to federal hiring laws allow the agency to temporarily employ noncitizens as officials attempt to obtain an accurate count of people living in immigrant communities.

THE CENSUS BUREAU IS pursuing a legal loophole that its officials believe would allow them to temporarily hire non-U.S. citizens as part of its efforts to reach populations that are difficult to count, including in non-English speaking and immigrant communities.

People employed by the Census Bureau, including those hired temporarily, are considered federal employees and are legally required to be U.S. citizens. Specifically, the annual Appropriations Act prohibits the use of appropriated funds to employ noncitizens within the U.S.

Some exceptions exist, however, that allow the agency to hire translators temporarily, as well as to hire people admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence who are seeking citizenship, to hire people admitted as refugees or granted asylum, and to hire people for up to 60 days on an emergency basis.

Temporarily employed translators fall under a so-called "excepted service provision," which gives each agency wide latitude to set its own standards for hiring based on what specific job it's trying to fill.

    India-Pakistan
Sporadic protests as Indian Kashmir seethes under clampdown
[AlAhram] Thousands of Indian security forces kept a lid on protests in disputed Kashmire on Wednesday, helped by the continued suspension of telephone and internet services after the Himalayan region's special status was scrapped this week.

Neighbours China and Pakistain, which both claim parts of the region, have voiced fierce opposition to India's move dropping a constitutional provision that had allowed the country's only Moslem-majority state to make its own laws.

Streets in the region's main city of Srinagar were deserted for a third day, with almost all shops shut, barring some chemists. Armed federal police manned mobile checkpoints across the city, limiting people's movement.

Knots of young protesters threw stones at soldiers, police and a witness said, amid anger over the telecoms clampdown that began on Sunday.

"These (protests) are mostly localised because of the heavy troop deployment," said a police officer who sought anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to media, adding that police used tear gas and pepper spray to scatter the protesters.

A witness described an episode of hours of stone-throwing on Tuesday in the Old Barzullah area near the city centre, saying, "I saw around 100 boys, in small groups, pelting stones."

He added, "The police fired tear gas to beat them back."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government detained regional leaders and heads of separatist groups before Monday's announcement, which also split the state into two federal territories to ensure greater control.

India has been fighting an armed revolt in Kashmire since 1989, which it blames Pakistain for stoking. In reply, Islamabad says it only gives moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for self-determination.

    MEDICAL SERVICES
All telephone, television, and internet connections stayed severed. By night, police vans had patrolled the streets, with loudspeakers warning residents to stay indoors.

South Kashmire, the epicentre of the insurgency in recent years, was completely locked down, said a state government official who visited the area.

"The highway was deserted, except for some trucks and buses carrying labourers out of the valley," added the official, who asked not to be named.

Local authorities have not declared a curfew, but instead clamped down on non-essential travel and gatherings of four or more, effectively keeping restive people in their homes.

Officials of emergency services, such as hospitals and the fire department, said their staff were also frequently stopped at checkpoints, with access sometimes blocked.

The principal of Srinagar's Government Medical College, which runs the state’s largest hospital network, comprising about 3,500 beds, has to personally visit district officials to coordinate services or seek approvals, a hospital official said.

"The principal doesn’t have any means of communication," added the official, who asked not to be identified. "Police stations have been given satellite phones but not him. That shows their (government’s) priority."

#1  I'm curious as to why this was done now as opposed to any time in the past 60+ years? Some precipitating factor or just cumulative stress?
    Dron66046? any input?
    Posted by: Mercutio || 08/08/2019 8:36 Comments || Top||

#2  Mercutio, it was the leftist, appeasement-based policies of previous administrations that had successfully prevented such decisive solutions. The solution to anything lies inescapably within it's roots. The root of this problem was islamism.

    Some Background ?
It may prove... insightful as to 'What-If' scenaios ?

At the time of independence, most north Indian muslims instantly demanded their beloved islamic abattoir - Pakistain, and they had dibs on Kashmir. Kashmir had trouble deciding, as it was ruled by a federally funded royalty the very epitome of well-fed indecision, who wanted the best of both worlds - protection guaranteed against annexation along with their autonomy and budget as a princely state. Until the real world came calling, waving the dung-green islamic flags to his filigreed doors , the Kashmiri prince was a happy camper. Kashmir was attacked by the 'Stain and India defended it because as the british taught us before leaving, the Himalayas and the Kashmir valley are a strategic asset for the Union that must never be compromised. He agreed to cede to India, only if we fed his ego. At the time therewas only one party, the Congress. Gandhi, Nehru and the freedom fighters...all were Congress party. They were idealists, hopeful at the time that muslims could be lived with.

When Kashmir was included in India it had to be done so piecemeal, battle by battle and preserving the Rajah's beloved status quo. A special Act had to be cooked up for this unique arrangement. What later became the Article 370.

Immediately after the end of the prince's reign, when a Constituent Assembly was established in Kashmir (1952), only muslim parties arose to prominence, the article 370 disallowed 'outsiders' from participating, or even holding office in Kashmir. When in the late 80s, Pakistain trained jihadis began exterminating all non-muslims, leading to a mass exodus of the native Kashmiri hindus, sikhs, buddhists, chritian missionaries, Kashmir turned into a muslim majority state. Kashmiri legislation was now reduced to ravings of mullahs from the masjids in Pakistan, forcing us to police in ways that often turned ugly. Pakistan backed politicians knew it was in their interest to support the Congress Party the Indian equivalent of the liberal democrat profiteers masquerading as socialist saviours of people.

There was no 'right-wing' back then, except for a fringe lunatic crowd that wanted India to be remade into a utopia from a weed fueled reverie by some old navel gazer.
You must understand that while your conservatives are christian families with truly liberal, god-fearing ideas, the Indian conservative is a miseducated bumpkin with a box of matches in one hand and a box of sweets in the other. Celebrate his diwali with him and you're a friend. Insult or undermine his stupid beliefs and... you're the diwali !

Naturally, a growing socialist democracy and a westward-looking population dreaded their coming to power and refrained from voting for them. Indian mainstream consciousness in the developing years did not come from either Marx or Eisenhower, it came from a slowly liberalizing hollywood, translated to an islamist ruled bollywood. And the hindu right wing were regressive shitkickers in that narrative. Their actually being regressive shitkickers didn't help none either.

For a large part of the 60+ years, India was governed by the autocratic Congress party which over time became the face of globalist liberal appeasement. The Congress leadership became so disconnected from the majority, for decades our taxes fueled their jaunts to Europe, the US, their soirees with liberals from all countries, diluting their own ideologies. Their policies were those of sycophants trying to barter away our economy to foreign commercial entities backed by the UN and globalist players.

When we won wars with Pakistain, our Prime Ministers used to return the land we emptied of sasquatches, repatriating POWs with honor and even paying them damages. The UN could easily dictate it's maladroit decrees on human rights and legalisms upon Kashmir. And that is the time Imran Khan alludes to when he cites 'International Consensus' and UN advisories, the wishful thinking that makes Pak look to Trump to get India to capitulate now is coming from that bygone era.

The change today, is a symptom of voting in a headstrong, majoritarian government, whose leaders do not kow-tow before globalist decrees or line their pockets with proceeds from arms sales. They are hindu ideologues, yes. And some of them are way far from a full deck, but they are anti-muslim and anti-globalist. These audacious SOBs can accomplish anything they set their minds to in a matter of days, no consensus, no discussion. Since 2014, they have a full majority in the House, have carefully selected the supreme court judges and have gagged and domesticated the media completely. I believe we are topped only by N Korea or China in the 'nationalist censorship' You will love your country or die ! department.

This present move is a precursor toward a larger objective. Of transforming Kashmir from a muslim dominated state to just another muslim minority state. We don't wish them ill God knows they only benefit from this. More jobs, easy loans, better legal protections. It is also part of the plan to curb the spread of pan-islamism in the sub-continent. Next up is a National Register that requires all residents to prove their citizenship to continue residing in India. If the 370 thing was an eye-catcher, this one's a doozy.

Pres. Trump says 'Watching Fake News CNN is better than watching Shepard Smith'
[Washington Examiner] President Trump suggested in a Wednesday afternoon tweet that he would rather watch CNN than Fox News anchor Shepard Smith.

"Watching Fake News CNN is better than watching Shepard Smith, the lowest rated show on @FoxNews," the president tweeted. "Actually, whenever possible, I turn to @OANN!"

Trump has recently been critical of the network and Smith has not been shy about pushing back.

Less than a week ago, the Fox News host ridiculed the president for doubting Russian interference. Trump questioned if Russia was interfering in U.S. elections after a reporter asked him. In response, Smith said, "It’s one of the more baffling things of a baffling presidency. There is no doubt that they are interfering, and yet, he goes, 'Do you believe that?' Yes, I believe it. I believe everyone in your government. I believe everyone is an intelligence apparatus. Of course I believe it."

Then last month, the president was critical of the Fox News poll that suggested the president would lose to either Joe Biden or Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Orders Epstein Criminal Probe
Photo provided as a memory jogger. The comments alone are worth the reading.
[Breitbart] Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has ordered an investigation into Palm Beach Sheriff Ric Bradshaw and a former Palm Beach state attorney.
Bradshaw is facing hard questions about his conduct with respect to registered sex offender and alleged child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein after his previous conviction. Pressure has mounted behind a 4,000-signature petition collected by Democrat State Senator Lauren Book, demanding that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement launch an inquiry into the sheriff’s decisions regarding Epstein.

Despite the nature of his alleged crimes ‐ just some of which include luring disadvantaged underaged girls to his Palm Beach home for "nude massages, masturbation, oral sex, and intercourse" ‐ Bradshaw reportedly granted Epstein unprecedented freedom through a more than generous "work release."

DeSantis said that he announced the probe on Bradshaw’s behalf after he assured the governor in a letter that he would cooperate with the investigation. "I believe the public interest would be best served by an FDLE-led [Florida Department of Law Enforcement] investigation examining every aspect of the Epstein case, from court sentencing to incarceration,’’ Bradshaw wrote.

    Iraq
Iraqi government plans to disarm civilians
[Rudaw] Iraq's Ministry of Interior is drawing up new weapons regulations that will severely limit the number of institutions and individuals who can apply to carry guns.

Civiliam gun ownership in Iraq is common. Many guns flooded onto the market following the 2003 US invasion.

"Selling guns has becoming common practice since many weapons in Iraqi military camps were taken away by the public when the camps were dismantled," said Gomaa al-Atwani, an Iraqi military expert.

These proposals build on legal regulation drafted in August 2018, allowing a member of the public to purchase firearms only after they received official authorization and an ID card detailing their private information, along with the types of weapons they already own.

Iraq's current regulations allow citizens to apply to purchase guns if they feel a real security threat. Most Iraqi families bought at least one automatic weapon to defend themselves as hard boy groups raged post-war.

But the overflow of guns has made it difficult to maintain Iraq's public order. Gun battles between tribes are common, and in some areas where gangs are active, gunshots can be heard even during the day.

    Meanwhile,
...back at the bunker, his Excellency called a hurried meeting of his closest advisors. It was to be his last. They discussed the officers's efficiency rating system...
the Iraqi government intends to gradually collect guns from the public and draw a clear line between military units and civilians.

ISIS ‘resurging’ in Syria as US pulls troops: watchdog
    [Rudaw] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) jihadist group was "resurging" in Syria while the United States withdrew troops, and has solidified its turban capabilities in neighboring Iraq, a Defense Department watchdog said Tuesday.

The jihadists ‐ who suffered major territorial losses at the hands of Iraqi and Syrian forces backed by a US-led international air campaign ‐ are exploiting weaknesses in local forces to make gains, the report from the Office of Inspector General said.

"Despite losing its territorial ’caliphate’, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) solidified its turban capabilities in Iraq and was resurging in Syria this quarter," according to the report.

ISIS has been able to "regroup and sustain operations" in the two countries partially because local forces "remain unable to sustain long-term operations, conduct multiple operations simultaneously, or hold territory that they have cleared", the report said.

The group’s Syria resurgence came as Washington "completed a partial withdrawal" from the country, a move made despite commanders saying that the local US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) "needed more training and equipping for counterinsurgency operations".

Last year, US President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
declared victory against ISIS and ordered the withdrawal of all American troops from Syria ‐ a decision that prompted then defense secretary Jim Mattis to quit.

    "CREATE TURMOIL"
A small number of American troops have remained in northeastern Syria, an area not controlled by the regime of Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
    Supressor of the Damascenes...
, and Washington is pushing for increased military support from other members of the international coalition against ISIS.

ISIS jihadists have carried out targeted liquidations, ambushes and suicide kabooms in both countries and in Iraq have "established a more stable command and control node and a logistics node for coordination of attacks," the report said.

The group’s strategy in the two countries is to "create turmoil in territory it has lost" and prevent local security forces "from establishing effective control and maintaining civil order".

The US-led coalition against ISIS believes the jihadist group likely has between 14,000 and 18,000 "members" in Iraq and Syria, among them up to 3,000 foreigners, the report said.

ISIS has suffered major losses, but its predecessor the Islamic State of Iraq likewise appeared on the ropes after Sunni Moslem rustics turned against the jihadists, combining with the US "surge" of troops in 2007-2008 to deal them a body blow.

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was however able to revive the bully boys’ fortunes, drawing on subsequent widespread Sunni anger with Iraq’s Shiite-led government to rebuild, aided by the chaos and violence of the Syrian civil war.

The jihadists seized control of large parts of Syria and Iraq, declaring an Islamic "caliphate" in 2014 and committing widespread atrocities, and were only pushed back after multiple years of heavy fighting and a massive US air campaign.

"Iraqi forces cleared the Sheikh Ibrahim and Badush mountain ranges and their surrounding villages in Nineveh from ISIS bad boys," according to the statement.

"Iraqi army units in Nineveh arrested 17 suspects believed to be ISIS bad boys," it added.

A senior government official told Dawn that a US delegation was in Islamabad to have an independent assessment of steps, actions and measures identified during the Florida meetings of the FATF in June this year and the progress made by Pakistain since then.

The delegation comprising Acting Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs Ambassador Alice G. Wells, US Treasury officials Scott Rembrandt, Grant Vickers, David Galbraith and others also met Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on Tuesday.

"The adviser briefed the visiting delegation on the measures pertaining to economic reforms being undertaken by the Government of Pakistain to ensure economic discipline, efforts being made towards implementation of FATF Action Plan and the key challenges being faced," said an official statement.

The official, who has been part of Pakistain’s team interacting with the FATF and Asia Pacific Group (APG) over the past year, said Islamabad had taken significant steps since the FATF meetings in June. He said the international partners helped Islamabad engage foreign consultants to support and prepare key stakeholders such as Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistain (SECP), National Counter-Terrorism Authority (Nacta), State Bank of Pakistain (SBP) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to take actions and formulate reports keeping in view the international perspective.

Holocaust survivor celebrates 104th birthday surrounded by 400 descendants
[NYPOST] This is the picture of triumph over evil.
    The best revenge is success.
A Holocaust survivor celebrated her 104th birthday last week at the Western Wall in Jerusalem ‐ and for the occasion posed for a photo surrounded by about 400 of her descendants, including her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Centenarian Shoshana Ovitz survived the Auschwitz concentration camp 74 years ago, according to Israeli outlets.

In the camp, she watched as her mother was ripped from her and handed to Nazi doctor Josef Mengele, who performed deadly experiments on prisoners, her grandson, Meir Rosenstein, told Israeli news hound Sivan Rahav Meir.

After the Holocaust, Ovitz met the man who would later become her husband, Dov Ovitz, who had lost his wife and four daughters in the genocide.

The couple searched for surviving relatives together and lived in Austria, before eventually settling in Haifa, where they had two daughters and two sons.

For her milestone birthday, Ovitz had one request, for all of her descendants to come together at the holy Jewish site ‐ and her children and grandchildren worked hard to make that happen.

MSNBC host apologizes after guest said 'natural conclusion' of Trump's rhetoric could lead to an 'extermination' of Latinos
[FOXNEWS] MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace issued an apology Tuesday evening over remarks made during a panel discussion stemming from a guest's suggestion that President Trump has been "talking about exterminating Latinos."

On Monday, Wallace led a conversation where USA Today opinion columnist Raul Reyes slammed Trump's remarks condemning white supremacy since he had "basically declared open season on Latinos" during his entire presidency.

He then listed examples of Trump's rhetoric towards Latinos and illegal immigrants colonists like describing the caravan that was heading to the U.S. southern border as an "infestation."

"What do you do with an infestation? With an infestation, the natural conclusion is to attempt an extermination," Reyes said. "So, to me, there’s very little distinction between his inciting this violence and the fact it’s now happening."

Marianne Williamson details plan to pay up to $500 billion in other people's money as reparations for slavery
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Democratic presidential hopeful Marianne Williamson
...Dem presidential candidate for 2020, campaigning on a platform of Hope and Change™, massage therapy, feng shueh, incense, Love©, and half a trillion bucks in reparations to black folk...
on Wednesday laid out more details in her plan to pay out financial reparations for slavery in the U.S., saying a council made up of black leaders should oversee a payout of between $200 billion and $500 billion.

"When it comes to paying reparations for slavery, on an emotional, psychological and spiritual level, we cannot afford not to," said Ms. Williamson, an author and self-help expert. "Until we do, this cycle of violence that began in the 1600s and continues to this day will continue to haunt our psyche."

Ms. Williamson called for setting up a council made up of between 30 and 50 members who are descents of slaves who have a scholarly, cultural or political connection to the issue of reparations.

The plan dictates that the council, not the U.S. government, would determine how the money would be doled out, and that it should be "for purposes of economic and educational renewal."

The $200 billion to $500 billion figure, an amount she had floated during last week’s presidential debate, would go toward education, infrastructure, and other projects for black communities.

Just another thumb in the eye for people they don't like. Trying to solve any past problems of racism are not solved by current racism against some other non-black group.

Judge irked by absence of witnesses in Naqeeb murder case
"Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! Da witnesses is all dead!"
[DAWN] KARACHI: Expressing its annoyance over the absence of prosecution witnesses, an antiterrorism court on Tuesday directed the investigating officer to produce them on Aug 19 for recording their testimonies in a case pertaining to killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud and three others in an alleged ’staged’ encounter.

The then SSP Malir Rao Anwar, the then DSP Qamar Ahmed Sheikh along with around 25 of their subordinates have been charged with kidnapping for ransom Naseebullah Mehsud, better known as Naqeebullah, and three others and killing them in a fake encounter by declaring them bandidos snuffies linked with the banned ISIS and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi

The killing of Naqeebullah, an aspiring model from Wazoo, and others in Shah Latif Town had sparked a wave of nationwide protests by human rights

    activists.

On Tuesday, the ATC-III judge was set to record the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses, including the complainant. However the witnesses failed to turn up before the court.

Advocate Salahuddin Panhwar informed that complainant Mohammad Khan, the father of deceased Naqeebullah, could not appear before the court to record his statement since he was ill.

The judge directed the investigating officer, SSP Dr Rizwan Ahmed, to ensure the presence of the complainant and other witnesses on the next date for recording their testimonies and fixed the matter on Aug 19.

The judge also directed the state prosecutor and complainant’s counsel Salahuddin Panhwar to argue on the bail applications moved by two former police officials ‐ assistant sub-inspector Ali Akbar and police constable Raees ‐ on the next date.

Khan Mohammad had lodged a case against the then SSP Rao Anwar and his subordinates under Sections 365-A (kidnapping for ransom), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 344 (wrongful confinement for 10 or more days), 302 (premeditated murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 202 (intentional omission to give information of offence by person bound to inform), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistain Penal Code read with Section 7 (acts of terrorism) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

A second case was also lodged against Rao Anwar and others by the former IO for allegedly foisting false recoveries of illicit arms, ammunition and explosives on the victims under relevant sections of the law.

Chi Mayor Lori Lightfoot rips Ivanka Trump’s comments about Chicago’s deadly weekend
[MSN] Before her inauguration as reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
's mayor, Lori Lightfoot visited the White House to meet with Ivanka Trump and begin building a relationship that she hoped could lead to help in solving some of the city's deepest problems.

But this week, Lightfoot engaged in a public battle of words with the president's powerful daughter, who in a series of tweets on Tuesday drew attention to the city's gun violence and provoked an angry response from Chicago's mayor.

Early Tuesday, Ivanka Trump drew renewed national attention to Chicago's problems with gun violence by writing, "As we grieve over the evil mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, let us not overlook that Chicago experienced its deadliest weekend of the year."

"With 7 dead and 52 maimed near a playground in the Windy City -- and little national outrage or media coverage -- we mustn't become numb to the violence faced by inner city communities every day," she tweeted.

Lightfoot took exception to the remarks and made her feelings known during a news conference after her so-called Accountability Tuesday meeting with Chicago police brass to review the city's police strategies and response to violence.

A livid Lightfoot said Trump got key facts wrong in her online comments and falsely implied that all the injuries happened in one incident. If Ivanka Trump cared, Lightfoot said, she should have reached out to city officials.

"It wasn't a playground, it was a park. It wasn't seven dead. It wasn't 52 maimed in one incident, which is what this suggests. It's misleading," Lightfoot said. "It's important when we're talking about people's lives to actually get the facts correct, which one can easily do if you actually cared about getting it right."

UN chief warns against rising tensions between nuclear-armed states
[DAWN] UN Secretary General António Guterres warned on Tuesday the world against rising tensions between nuclear-armed states, as a powerful American newspaper pointed out that tensions in Kashmire were more menacing now than ever before as both India and Pakistain possessed weapons of mass destruction.

Also, an international advocacy group ‐ Human Rights Watch ‐ noted that basic freedoms were at risk in the Indian Kashmiree where Indian authorities had arrested politicians and severed communication lines.

As the news of India revoking Kashmire’s special status sank-in, Kashmiris from both sides of the Line of Control gathered at a restaurant near Washington on Monday night to exchange notes on how to contact their relatives trapped in the valley.

"Today, we are sadly witnessing a worsening international security environment," said the UN Secretary General in his message on the 74th anniversary of the 1945 nuclear attacks on Japan. "Tensions between the nuclear-armed States are rising. The disarmament and arms-control institutions, that have made the world a more secure place for decades, are being called into question," Mr Guterres warned. The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

, in its main editorial piece on Tuesday, directly addressed the threat of a nuclear conflict in South Asia.

"Rival claims to Kashmire have led to two wars and frequent eruptions of violence and terrorism over the past seven decades, made all the more menacing by the nuclear arsenals of India and Pakistain," it warned.

"The Indian government’s decision to revoke the semi-autonomous status of Kashmire, accompanied by a huge security clampdown, is dangerous and wrong. Bloodshed is all but certain, and tension with Pakistain will soar."

    Economy
NYC Businesses Cut Staff, Raise Prices Due to $15 Minimum Wage
    Unexpectedly.
[BREITBART] The $15 minimum wage has forced some business owners in New York City to cut staff and raise their prices.

Susannah Koteen, the owner of Lido Restaurant in Harlem, said the minimum wage has directly impacted her business, and she worries that it could get worse as time goes by.

"What it really forces you to do is make sure that nobody works more than 40 hours," Koteen told news hounds. "You can only cut back so many people before the service starts to suffer."

Thomas Grech, president of the Queens Chamber of Commerce, said he has seen an increase in small-business closures since the $15 minimum wage was implemented at the beginning of the year.

"They’re cutting their staff. They’re cutting their hours. They’re shutting down," he commented. "It’s not just the rent."

    However,
    ars longa, vita brevis...
2020 presidential hopeful and South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg
...the testicleless mayor of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012. Buttigieg graduated from Harvard College and, on a Rhodes Scholarship, from Pembroke College, Oxford. From 2007 to 2010, he worked at McKinsey and Company, a consulting firm. From 2009 to 2017 Buttigieg served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant and deploying to Afghanistan in 2014. Buttigieg was first elected mayor of South Bend in 2011 and was reelected in 2015. During his second term, he announced he was gay. Buttigieg also campaigned for Indiana state treasurer in 2010 and for chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2017, losing both elections. He is running for the Dem nomination in 2020 on the theory that being mayor of a nondescript medium sized city is qualification to run the country...
criticized Christian Republicans for opposing a guaranteed $15 minimum wage.

"The minimum wage is just too low, and so-called conservative Christian senators right now in the Senate are blocking a bill to raise the minimum wage, when Scripture says that whoever oppresses the poor taunts their maker," he said during the Democrat debate on July 30.

On July 18, Breitbart News reported that the House approved a bill that would raise the minimum wage to $15 by the year 2025.

House Majority Leader the mealy-mouthed Steny StinkyHoyer
... Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi's second banana, or plaintain, or mango, or whatever he is...
(D-MD) praised the bill, calling it "direct help" for working Americans.

"This is direct help. Not indirect. Not trickle down. Direct. It says to those who make the least we think what you do is important," he commented.

    -War on Police-
Andrew Cuomo blames cops getting pelted with water buckets, belittles ‘impotent’ NYPD as wimps
Whose stupid rules of engagement were they abiding by, pray tell?
[BIZPACREVIEW] Andrew Sonny Cuomo, the Democratic governor of New York State, slammed NYC coppers for being restrained when street thugs pelted them with buckets and doused them with water two weeks ago.

There were four separate incidents in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx, where thugs pelted NYC cops with water, and threw buckets at the officers’ heads. Cuomo says the cops should have fought back when they were assaulted instead of walking away.
He would be one of the first and loudest demanding their firings if they did. Lying F'n Hypocrite
Naturally, Cuomo ignores that the Democratic Party’s nonstop anti-police rhetoric has emboldened criminals and handcuffed cops’ ability to react properly, especially where minorities are involved.

Police are afraid of being falsely accused of racism and being fired, doxxed, and sued for "discrimination" simply for doing their jobs.

Cuomo told WAMC radio in Albany, New York that the NYPD officers who walked away when they were being doused with water were "impotent." He also called the numerous water-assault incidents "one of the most disturbing and embarrassing actions I’ve seen."

Cuomo placed the blame on NYC’s Democratic Mayor Bill de Blasio
...cryptocommie mayor of New York and for some reason a Dem candidate for president in 2020. Corrupt and incompetent, his qualifications for office seem to consist of being married to a black woman, with whom he honeymooned in Cuba. He has a preppy-looking son named Dante, whose Divine Comedy involved getting his back hair up when a police car drove past him slowly...
(who has long promoted anti-police rhetoric) and the NYPD itself.

"I look to the training and the policies of the police department that would’ve instructed them to act that way," Cuomo said. "The training has to be, you don’t turn around and get back in the car and drive away. You literally make law enforcement ineffective and impotent, and that hurts everyone."

14 FBI Officials Leaked to the Media, Only Four Were Fired, Judicial Watch Reveals
[PJMEDIA] On Tuesday, Judicial Watch announced it had received records showing that the FBI referred 14 employees to the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) for leaking sensitive or classified information. Of those 14 employees, only four were fired.

"No wonder the FBI was leaking so profusely. Collectively, these documents show a show lenient treatment for evident criminal activity. Only four of the 14 employees found to have made an unauthorized disclosure were dismissed from the FBI," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement. "And even though Andrew McCabe was fired and referred for a criminal investigation for his leak, no prosecution has taken place."

During the early years after President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
was inaugurated, The New York Times

...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

and The Washington Post would have stories seemingly every other day citing anonymous sources from within the FBI. Last September, a high-ranking official published an op-ed in the Times detailing a deep state or "resistance" effort to sabotage Trump from within.

The fact that leakers were treated leniently helps to explain why officials continued to leak sensitive information to the press, often involving the Trump-Russia collusion angle. Leaking this information is a crime, but it appears the FBI did not hold its staff accountable as it could or should have.

Rep. Castro says it is not his intention for Texas Trump supporters to be harassed
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro, the brother of 2020 presidential candidate Julián Castro, defended his decision to post the names of San Antonio residents who donated the maximum amount allowed to President Trump on his campaign's Twitter account.

The maximum donation is $2,800 each for federal primary and general election campaigns. Election law states individuals who donate over $200 to these campaigns report to the Federal Election Commission.

Castro told MSNBC it is not his intention for the Trump supporters to be harassed or their businesses be boycotted.
    LIAR
"Like I said, my post was actually as a San Antonian, my family has been here since 1922. It was a lament," Castro said. "It wasn’t meant as a boycott. It wasn’t meant to target these people. It was meant to draw attention to the fact we’ve got a lot of people in our community who are respected by San Antonio, who are contributing to this guy that’s using their money to fuel hate."

Morning Joe host Willie Giest pressed Castro, saying that despite the information be available to the public, putting their names on social media increases the risk of harassment.

"Look that ... that was not my intention," Castro replied. "These things are public. What I would like for them to do is think twice about supporting a guy who is fueling hate in this country."

    India-Pakistan
Propaganda reigns: Five more polio cases in KP as tally reaches 53
    [DAWN] Amid propaganda against polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...
vaccine and frequent refusals by parents to inoculate their children against the virus, five more polio cases in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa were confirmed on Tuesday.

When contacted, Prime Minister’s Focal Person on Polio Eradication Babar Bin Atta said: "It has been learnt that none of them was vaccinated during polio campaigns and routine immunisation. Unfortunately, since the incident of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
[in April], we have been facing severe resistance from parents. They have kept markers at their houses and manage to avoid vaccination by marking the fingers of their children on the very first day of polio campaign."

With the latest addition, the number of polio cases climbed to 53 this year, far more than the last year figure of 12. In a sharp contrast, only eight cases were confirmed in 2017.

The five new victims, including two girls, belonged to Bannu, North Wazoo and Charsadda, with the youngest of them only 22 months old.

An official of Polio Virology Laboratory at the National Institute of Health (NIH), requesting anonymity, said three cases were reported from Bannu and one each from North Waziristan and Charsadda.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US, UK warn against escalating sectarianism in Lebanon
“That’ll fix the problem, Nigel. Shall I send out for tea, or will you join me in a whiskey?”
[ARABNEWS] The US Embassy in Leb warned that "any attempt to exploit the tragic incident that took place in Kabreshmoun on June 30 to promote political objectives must be rejected."

The statement comes during Leb’s escalating political crisis, which has been ongoing for more than two months.

The crisis has peaked during the last 48 hours, where efforts aimed at reaching a political consensus on the judicial measures for the Kabreshmoun shooting have failed.

There was open confrontation between the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) and the Free Patriotic Movement
Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic...
(FPM), with the PSP including the Lebanese President Michel Aoun
...president of Leb, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
    ...

and the judiciary in its accusations.

"The US supports a fair and transparent judicial review free of any political influence. We clearly expressed to the Lebanese authorities that they are expected to handle the incident in a manner that achieves justice without inciting sectarian and regional conflicts with political backgrounds," said the US Embassy.

"Leb’s stability is a priority to us," said Britannia’s Ambassador to Leb Chris Rampling as he visited Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri
Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, a member of AMAL, a not very subtle Hizbullah sock puppet...
"We urge everyone to focus on economic development at this stage. The adoption of the state budget was an important first step but still needs a lot of work," Rampling added.

The shooting took place when the head of the FPM, Gebran Bassil, visited the site of massacres between Christians and Druze during the civil war.

Supporters of the PSP staged protests to prevent the visit, triggering a shootout after the arrival of the minister of the displaced, Saleh al-Gharib. Two of his bodyguards were killed.

Minister al-Gharib is a member of the PSP’s rival party and an ally of Hezbollah and the Syrian regime.

The incident received significant political and judicial attention, which has paralyzed the government for over a month. The PSP accused the FPM of wanting to eliminate it by pressuring the military judiciary to manipulate the investigation.

Aoun affirmed his "commitment to the judiciary, which has the authority to act firmly and punish according to the laws," as he received a youth delegation on Wednesday.

Berri said that he "will not allow anything that could divide the Lebanese people," and that "political, security and financial stability is required from everyone, as international financial institutions are concerned about Leb’s situation.

ESPN Pulls Trailer for Movie Where Liberals Hunt ‘Deplorables’ for Sport
    These people are vile.
[BREITBART] The film, which has been described as a gory satire featuring actresses Hilary Swank and Betty Gilpin, follows a group of elites who stalk and murder conservatives in red states. The hunters are fueled by their hatred of the “MAGA-type” characters and their right-leaning positions. While the term “deplorables” may not be explicitly stated in the trailer, Daily Mail notes that the “hunted” were, in fact, described as “deplorables” in the screenplay.

Somehow this movie cost almost $20M to produce.

The producer is a notorious lefty so it seems crazy for him to create a movie that makes the viewer see right leaning characters sympathetically. But there may be some sort of plot twist that is not now evident or the producer may simply be demented.

Immigration raids at Mississippi food processing plants net nearly 700 arrests
[AP] MORTON, Miss. (AP) ‐ U.S. immigration officials raided several Mississippi food processing plants on Wednesday, part of a large-scale operation carried out by President Donald Trump's administration that targeted both corporations and their largely Latino employees.

The raids, planned months ago, came hours before Trump was to visit El Paso, Texas, to offer sympathy to the majority-Latino city where a man linked to an online screed about a "Hispanic invasion" was charged in a shooting that left 22 people dead in the border city.

Workers filled three buses ‐ two for men and one for women ‐ at a Koch Foods Inc. plant in tiny Morton, 40 miles (64 kilometers) east of Jackson. They were taken to a military hangar to be processed for immigration violations. About 70 family, friends and residents waved goodbye and shouted, "Let them go! Let them go!" Later, two more buses arrived.

A tearful 13-year-old boy whose parents are from Guatemala waved goodbye to his mother, a Koch worker, as he stood beside his father. Some employees tried to flee on foot but were captured in the parking lot.

Workers who were confirmed to have legal status were allowed to leave the plant after having their trunks searched.

"It was a sad situation inside," said Domingo Candelaria, a legal resident and Koch worker who said authorities checked employees' identification documents.

The company did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

Bryan Cox, a spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said search warrants were executed at seven locations across Mississippi, targeting several companies. He did not have additional details, including a preliminary estimate of arrests.

The sting was another demonstration of Trump's signature domestic priority to crack down illegal immigration.

Somalis Welcomed As Refugees by Obama, Charged with Terrorism in Arizona
[Judicial Watch] Less than a year after Judicial Watch reported on the terrorist ties of an African refugee living in Arizona, federal authorities in the Grand Canyon State have arrested two refugees from the same continent for conspiring to provide material support to ISIS. In both cases the terrorists entered the United States legally under an Obama era program that welcomed‐and offered residency‐to hundreds of thousands from Muslim countries notorious for terrorist activity. Also, in both instances the terrorists settled in Tucson, about 70 miles north of the Mexican border.

In the most recent case FBI agents from the Tucson Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested two Somalian men, 21-year-old Ahmed Mahad Mohamed and 20-year-old Abdi Yemani Hussein, after a months-long investigation. During the undercover probe the men "repeatedly demonstrated their allegiance and support for ISIS," according to an FBI affidavit in support of a criminal complaint. Mohamed and Hussein also discussed their desire and plans to join ISIS overseas and purchased airline tickets from Tucson to Cairo, Egypt to join the terrorist group. The affidavit includes online and personal communications between the suspects and undercover agents expressing their plan to behead non-believers of Islam like animals. "The best wakeup call is Islamic State to get victory or another 911," according to one of Mohamed's emails with an undercover agent. Hussein wrote that he wanted to blow up the White House and Tucson if anyone tries to stop him. Both men disclosed that they strived to be the most wanted terrorists in the world.

Incredibly, Mohamed and Hussein lived in the U.S. legally because they entered as refugees from Somalia, according to the FBI document. "At the time of their arrest, Mohamed had obtained lawful permanent resident status and Hussein remained a refugee," according to a Justice Department statement that also reveals Mohamed and Hussein planned to conduct an attack within the United States if they were unable to travel to Sinai, an Egyptian peninsula that borders Israel and the Gaza Strip, to join ISIS. The State Department warns against travel to the region due to terrorism. "The Sinai Peninsula remains a particularly dangerous area, with frequent attacks on security forces and civilians," the agency writes in its warning to American citizens. Planned travel to the area by two African young men welcomed as refugees by the U.S. rightfully caught the attention of federal authorities.

MSNBC Contributor Frank Figliuzzi Discovers Hidden Nazi Message In White House Statement
[MSNBC] MSNBC contributor Frank Figliuzzi, a former FBI counterintelligence official, floated a conspiracy theory about the president issuing secret Nazi messages on "The 11th Hour With Brian Williams" on Monday night.

FRANK FIGLIUZZI: And I'll give you an example of that. We have to understand the adversary and the threat we're dealing with. And if we don't understand how they think, we'll never understand how to counter them. So, it's little things and language and messaging that matters. The President said that we will fly our flags at half-mast until August 8th. That's 8/8.

Now, I'm not going to imply that he did this deliberately but I am using it as an example of the ignorance of the adversary that's being demonstrated by the White House. The numbers "88" are very significant in neo-Nazi and white supremacy movement. Why? Because the letter "H" is the eighth letter of the alphabet and, to them, the numbers "88" together stand for "Heil Hitler." So, we're going to be raising the flag back up at dusk on 8/8. No one is thinking about this. No one is giving him the advice or he's rejecting the advice. So understand your adversary to counter the adversary.

    Afghanistan
Taliban claim bomb attack on Afghan police; 14 killed, 145 hurt
    [DAWN] The Taliban
    ...Arabic for students...
grabbed credit for a suicide car-kaboom on a cop shoppe in the Afghan capital, Kabul, on Wednesday which the government said killed 14 people and maimed 145.

There has been no let-up in violence in Afghanistan even though the Taliban and the United States appear close to a historic pact for US troops to withdraw in exchange for a Taliban promise the country would not be used as a base from which to plot attacks by hard boys.

The blast, in the west of the city during the morning rush hour, sent a huge cloud of grey smoke billowing into the sky.

The Taliban said a "recruitment centre" had been attacked by one of their jacket wallahs.

"A large number of soldiers and police were killed or maimed," the Taliban said in a statement.

Deputy Interior Minister Khoshal Sadat later told a news conference 14 people had been killed and 145 maimed. Four of the dead were coppers and the rest civilians, while 92 of the maimed were civilians, he said.

The bomb went off when the vehicle carrying the device was stopped at a checkpoint outside the cop shoppe, said interior ministry front man Nasrat Rahimi.
Khaama Press adds, with great sarcasm:
A car bomb explosion in of Kabul city has totally destroyed a mosque besides inflicting casualties on civilians.

The Kabul Police Headquarters in a statement said “The terrorist attack by Taliban has totally ‘Martyred’ a mosque in 6th district of Kabul city.”

The statement further added that the ‘Wild Taliban’ neither have respect to humanity nor to Islamic values.

A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle packed with explosives close to Police District#6 police station in West of Kabul city earlier today.

Toyota partners with AI startup to design robots to help at home
[NYPOST] Toyota Motor Corp. has designs on making robot helpers for your home, and has enlisted a Japanese startup that specializes in artificial intelligence to jumpstart its plan.

Japan’s biggest automaker and Tokyo-based Preferred Networks Inc. will carry out joint research to develop so-called service robots that are "capable of learning in typical living environments," the companies said in statements on Wednesday.

The two firms have already been collaborating on driverless vehicles since 2014.

Eighty-year-old manufacturing giant Toyota is trying to transform itself and adapt to technology, such as ride-hailing and automated driving, that is disrupting the auto industry.

Toyota sees robots as part of that effort, particularly in Japan, where it aims to have them in homes and hospitals to support one of the world’s fastest aging populations.

For the project announced on Wednesday, Toyota said it would provide a dozen units of its Human Support Robot, or HSR, to Preferred Networks.

The companies will cooperate on development over the next three years, including the sharing of intellectual property.

Preferred Networks is already using the robot as a platform for its advanced artificial intelligence software. At an exhibition in Tokyo last year the robot tidied a messy room, distinguishing between trash and dirty towels.

Suspect charged with murder after victim in bank robbery-turned-carjacking found dead in Valrico
[TAMPABAY] A 68-year-old man who was carjacked at gunpoint after a bank robbery Tuesday morning was found dead hours later, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Mathew Korattiyil was last seen being pushed into his white Lexus SUV by the man accused of robbing the CenterState Bank, 1815 E Brandon Blvd., at about 10:30 a.m.

A search was launched, and after a high-speed chase and crash, deputies knocked the stolen SUV off the road and captured the alleged bank robber, James Hanson Jr., 39.

But Korattiyil wasn’t inside the vehicle, so the search continued.

Then at 4 p.m., deputies announced that he was found dead at Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Community Center located at 2620 Washington Road.

Hanson was taken into custody and gave a full confession Tuesday after being interviewed by detectives for several hours, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the Hillsborough County jail on charges of first degree murder, carjacking, grand theft auto, kidnapping, resisting an officer with violence and robbery.

The Catholic center and crashed SUV were all a little more than a mile from the bank. The Sheriff’s Office did not release any other information about the incident, such as what happened to Korattiyil after he was kidnapped or what the cause of death was.

Korattiyil was an active and generous member of the community center where he was found, said president Tomy Kattinacheril.

The plaintiff in the case, named only as S.D. to keep his identity private, is alleging that he was assaulted "hundreds" of times by a scout leader in Pennsylvania over the course of about four years in the 1970s.

The lawsuit alleges that S.D.'s abuse would not have been possible had it not been for the negligence of the Boy Scouts, that the organization conspired to keep incidents of sexual assault a secret, and that the organization and other defendants engaged in "reckless misconduct" in failing to protect its young participants. The complaint names the Boy Scouts, the Penn Mountains Council, and S.D.'s alleged abuser, and was filed in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas.

The litigation stems from an attempt to unearth previously unreported cases of child sexual abuse in one of the country’s most prominent youth organizations, spearheaded by Abused in Scouting, a group of law firms that collaborate on bringing such cases to light.

    The Grand Turk
Turkey, US Agree to Establish Joint Operation Center for N. Syria
[AAWSAT] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
and the United States have agreed to establish a joint operation center to manage tensions between a US-backed Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Ottoman Turkish forces in northern Syria, Ankara said Wednesday.

The announcement came after three days of tense negotiations with US officials hoping to forestall a Ottoman Turkish attack on the YPG, which controls large swathes of northern Syria.

Turkey sees the YPG as a terrorist offshoot of the Kurdish PKK, which has fought a bloody insurgency inside its territory for the past 35 years.

The defense ministry said in a statement that Ankara had agreed with US officials to "implement without delay the first measures aimed at eliminating Turkey's concerns.

"In that framework, to quickly create in Turkey a joint operation center to coordinate and manage the implementation of the safe zone with the US."

Ankara has stepped up threats in recent days to launch an offensive against the YPG.

That put the United States in a difficult position as a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
ally of Turkey but also a supporter of the YPG as its main frontline partner against the ISIS group.

All sides agree that a buffer zone is needed to keep the YPG away from Turkey's borders, but they have differed on how large it should be, or who should control it.

The defense ministry said Turkey's ultimate aim was to create a "peace corridor" that can "ensure that our Syrian brothers will be able to return to their country".

#1  The Kurds are the ones who helped the US defeat ISIS.
The Kurds spilled their blood and guts so the US soldiers did not have to spill theirs.
That makes the Kurds better allies than Nato countries like Germany and even Britain.
The Kurds have made Turkey jealous because they have seized territory back that ISIS took from Syria and from Iraq.
And Turkey knows the Kurds on their southern border could even take territory from its own country.
Erdogan feels threatened because his grip on power is tenuous.
With Turkey's cross border invasions of Syria and Iraq the US has had to withdraw to avoid conflict.
Since the Kurds have had to defend themselves from attacks by Turkey's allies the Kurds have not been able to keep ISIS from coming back.
The result of Turkey's meddling in Syria is shown in today's article:
"ISIS ‘resurging’ in Syria as US pulls troops: watchdog"
Of course Turkey is not at all concerned about ISIS being on its border unlike the Kurds because ISIS are Sunni.
Turkey is responsible for ISIS coming to power on its southern border.
ISIS was able to operate from inside Turkey's borders and freely transit fighters and supplies into northern Syria.
Turkey has used ISIS as an excuse to get involved in Syria itself.
Iranian and Turkish meddling in Syria made Russia envious.
The US (and Israel) has been the only country standing in the way of Iran, Russia and Turkey from having their way in Syria.
I am praying for a "popcorn time" outcome for these three despised countries.
I hope in the end these three greedy countries turn on each other or that they just decay from within from the corruption.

Univision heads for auction with few suitors
[NYPOST] Univision is trying to sell itself again ‐ and investors are bracing for yet another long, dragged-out telenovela.

In the middle of last month, the Spanish-language TV network quietly gathered a select group of prospective suitors in New York as it sought a price tag north of $10 billion, sources told The Post.

But after sifting through more than 100 pages of confidential financial information, the group of media companies and buyout firms appears to have taken a pass, according to a source with direct knowledge of the situation.

Now, Univision is in "the very early stages" of a formal auction process with a "strict timetable" that’s being run by Morgan Stanley, Moelis & Co. and LionTree, an insider said. The banks, however, haven’t set a bidding deadline, sources said.

In the coming weeks, prospective bidders will face a tough question: As Univision tries to wean itself from tear-jerking soap operas and game shows hosted by women in tight dresses, can it remake itself into a millennial-focused powerhouse that can compete with online rivals like Netflix?

#2  Missed the train with their own racism. Seems the telenovias appealed to a certain demography of Anglo females but the network refused to put bi-lingual close captioning in them (even though they expect Spanish close captioning on the Gringo broadcast networks).

#3  Without looing at the financials (which appear to not support the $10 billion price tag), it seems to me that this price tag and the need to sell it soon ('strict timetable') are mutually exclusive things, which means the asking price is gonna drop like a rock.

    Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Syrian troops take villages, push toward key opposition-held town
[ARABNEWS] Syrian regime forces captured two northwestern villages in an intensified offensive on the last opposition-held part of the country, inching closer to the town of Kfar Zeita which has been held by fighters since 2012, opposition activists and state media reported on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, neighboring Turkey reiterated threats to attack northeastern Syria to push back US-allied Syrian Kurdish forces there — even as Turkish and US officials held in Ankara on establishing a so-called “safe zone” within Syria.

The two developments — the Syrian regime offensive and Turkey’s threats — herald new escalations in Syria’s civil war, now in its ninth year.

The Syrian forces first captured the village of Arbaeen overnight, then the nearby Zakat early in the morning as part of their offensive on Idlib province, the last remaining major opposition stronghold in Syria.

The developments were reported by the regime-controlled Syrian Central Military Media and the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitoring group.

Earlier this week, the Syrian military forces announced it was resuming an offensive on the opposition-held northwest, accusing insurgents of violating the latest truce there.

If the army keeps pushing into the northwest, Syrian forces could get in contact with Turkish troops that man 12 observation posts along the border of Idlib. The closest Turkish point is in Morek, about 12 km east of Zakat.

Syrian troops have been attacking Idlib and a stretch of land around it controlled by insurgents since April 30. The three months of airstrikes and shelling have displaced some 400,000 and left more than 2,000 people dead on both sides.

Zakat and Arbaeen were controlled by Jaish Al-Izza, one of the main opposition groups in northern parts of the central province of Hama.

The Observatory said “regime forces are at the gates” of Kfar Zeita now, adding that fighting in the two villages killed 18 fighters and 10 pro-regime troops.

Kfar Zeita is one of the largest towns in the northern parts of Hama province and lies on the edge of Idlib, which is home to some 3 million people, many of them internally displaced by fighting elsewhere in Syria. Kfar Zeita and the nearby town of Latamneh appear to be main targets of the latest regime offensive.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch reported in 2014 that it has strong evidence that Syrian army helicopters dropped bombs carrying chlorine gas on three opposition-held towns, including Kfar Zeita.

Also Wednesday, Turkey’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said his country would like to establish a so-called “safe zone” in northeast Syria jointly with the US but will act alone if necessary. Akar spoke as Turkish and US military officials continued to hold talks in Ankara over the zone.

He said the talks were progressing in a “positive” manner, adding that the American officials’ views were “moving closer” to Turkey’s.

Ankara wants to control — in coordination with the US — a 19-25 mile-deep zone east of the Euphrates River in Syria, and wants no Syrian Kurdish forces there. Turkey sees the Syrian Kurdish fighters as terrorists aligned with a Kurdish insurgency within Turkey.

Turkey has threatened to attack this part of Syria to push back the US-allied Syrian Kurdish forces, known as Syrian Democratic Forces, or SDF.

Also on Wednesday, Syrian state news agency SANA reported that a car bomb exploded in the SDF-controlled northern village of Qahtaniyeh, killing several people and wounding others.

Pakistan urged to move beyond diplomatic support for occupied Kashmir
[DAWN] Demonstrations were held across Azad Jammu and Kashmire (AJK) for the second consecutive day on Tuesday to condemn India’s move to scrap the special status of held Kashmire on the one hand and refresh calls to Pakistain to take "bold steps" on the other.

In Muzaffarabad, participants of a rally marched from Azadi Chowk near the press club to an army installation, which houses the offices of the United Nations

Military Observers, near Domel, at the confluence of rivers Neelum and Jhelum.

Holding black flags, banners and placards, many of the protesters staged a sit-in outside the army installation to express indignation against the Indian move.

While shouting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans, they also called upon the UN to play its due role in held Kashmire.

"This world cannot afford to have another Paleostine, and we will not let it happen either," said Aziz Ahmed, a 32-year-old participant, alluding to a widely prevailing perception that the Hindu-nationalist BJP government had been seeking guidelines from Israel to render Kashmiri Moslems homeless in their own home on the pattern of the Paleostinians.

"The UN must intervene to stop India from going ahead with its ghastly plans in the disputed region of Kashmire," he added.

Many also called upon Islamabad to go beyond offering "mere" moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmire.
