How I wish it was socially acceptable to wear whatever you want, from whatever period you please. The 40s fashion was the epitome of elegance; the peplum skirts on dresses and coats were gorgeous.
For instance, like this:
Today sporting a headscarf [the Christian one] is met with frowns and criticisms from my tribe where they assume that I'm giving up on my religion and converting into another one. A good number of people of all backgrounds, run the gamut in attire from hooker to beggar. What happened to class? What happened to elegance and etiquettes?

[JPost] - The country’s four major health funds said they are preparing to welcome individuals over the age of 60 for a coronavirus booster shot, as Israelis were banned from traveling to four more countries and the Green Pass went back into effect.
The Health Ministry’s coronavirus vaccination committee voted by an almost unanimous majority of 56-1 to administer the third shot of the Pfizer vaccine to elderly people who were jabbed more than five months ago at a meeting that ran from 9 p.m. to midnight on Wednesday, despite a third shot still not being approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
President Isaac Herzog will receive the country’s first booster shot on Friday.
Maccabi Health Services said it would start vaccinating on Friday. The other health funds said they would begin taking appointments and offering shots on Sunday.
"Our strategy is clear: To safeguard life, and to safeguard daily routine in the State of Israel," Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said.
He explained that the decision was based on considerable research and analysis, as well as the "rise and risk of the Delta variant wave. Israel has already vaccinated 2,000 immunosuppressed people with a third dose with no severe adverse events. Now, we are rolling out a national third-dose campaign. We will share all the information we have with the rest of the global community as we make progress."

[Daily Caller via Rantingly] The National Institutes of Health has doled out nearly $46 million in taxpayer funds to 100 Chinese institutions in the form of subgrants since fiscal year 2012, federal data shows.
27 of the Chinese organizations, including the Wuhan Institute of Virology, received funds from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s NIH subagency to perform research on infectious diseases, the data shows.
One of the subgrants from Fauci’s subagency to a Chinese government-owned institution explicitly states that the U.S. will only receive taxpayer-funded research data upon approval by Chinese government authorities.
A bipartisan group of senators wrote a letter to President Joe Biden on Tuesday questioning why the U.S. is funding research in a country that has violated international health regulations, has stonewalled inquiries into the origin of COVID-19 and that may be in violation of the Biological Weapons Convention.

[CNN] - Chinese state media is urging investors to stay calm following a brutal stock market sell-off this week that has wiped out hundreds of billions of dollars in value.
Chinese state-run newspaper Securities Times published a commentary Wednesday acknowledging the "changes in policy for certain industries" after a market rout on Monday and Tuesday that came as investors reacted to Beijing's widening crackdown on private enterprise.
"Investors should have confidence in the market," it wrote. "A short-term shock does not change the nature of the long-term positive trend ... China's economy and markets are at an advantage in terms of its width and depth."
Even so, Chinese tech stocks swung wildly Wednesday.
Tencent (TCEHY) shares closed flat after news that the company's WeChat messaging platform would temporarily suspend all new user registrations to comply with regulations relating to an upgrade of its security systems. It had earlier fallen as much as 6.4%, before paring most of those losses.
[Last Refuge] Katie Benner sounds like an American girl next door right? Alas, a little digging below the surface reveals something rather specific about the New York Times journalist.
Ms. Katie Benner made headlines yesterday by tweeting: "Today’s #January6thSelectCommittee underscores the America’s current, essential natsec dilemma: Work to combat legitimate national security threats now entails calling a politician’s supporters enemies of the state," the previously little-known Benner wrote.
Perhaps the purposeful avatar knocked people off the trail. Yes, the statement is jaw-dropping from a New York Times journalist who is openly calling Trump supporters "enemies of the state," a tweet she soon deleted once the sunlight poured in.
Perhaps her NYT editors influenced the decision to delete the comments; or, well, perhaps the real people behind Ms. Benner noted she had gone a little too far — this time.
As it turns out, Ms. Benner is not quite what she appears.... not even close.

From the article:"SUMMARY – Ms. Katie Benner appears to be a Chinese Communist Party operative who worked through the U.S. media system as a journalist, eventually into the New York Times, weaving her way through the organization to a place where she focuses on national security issues within the DOJ…. and then, unfortunately for her CCP handlers, Ms. Benner triggered her CCP tradecraft motivation a little too openly on Twitter and did not clear the blast zone."
[FOXNEWS] Forty-eight-year political veteran President Joe Biden ...... 46th president of the U.S., father of Hunter...... raised eyebrows on Wednesday when he claimed to have driven an 18-wheeler truck — a claim the White House struggled to defend.
Biden was visiting a Mack Truck facility in Pennsylvania when he made the claim to have driven the massive trucks before, which require a special kind of license.
"I used to drive an 18-wheeler, man," Biden said on Wednesday in a video posted to Twitter. "I got to."
There is scant evidence that Biden has ever driven an 18-wheeler truck.
When asked if the president had ever driven such a truck, a White House spokesperson pointed to a December 1973 article from the Wilmington Evening Journal that showed Biden rode in an 18-wheeler on a 536-mile haul to Ohio.
Fox News pressed the spokesperson about the president’s claim — noting that riding in a truck is not the same as driving one — at which point the president's spokesperson pointed to a United Federation of Teachers post that touched on Biden driving a school bus in the past as a summer job.

The mask mandate re-imposition heralds a plan to repeat the voting fraud of 2020, and keeping the explosion of inflation from undermining even the best voter fraud techniques...

[Katie Pavich - Townhall] So, why the mask mandate for children? Look no further than the teachers unions, who have been lobbying the CDC to issue mask guidelines for students. In May, when the CDC repealed mask guidelines for the vaccinated, which they reversed this week, the country's largest teacher's unions insisted kids still wear them.
The Research Letter, “Experimental Assessment of Carbon Dioxide Content in Inhaled Air With or Without Face Masks in Healthy Children: A Randomized Clinical Trial,” by Harald Walach, PhD, and colleagues published online in JAMA Pediatrics on June 30, 2021,1 is hereby retracted. Following publication, numerous scientific issues were raised regarding the study methodology, including concerns about the applicability of the device used for assessment of carbon dioxide levels in this study setting, and whether the measurements obtained accurately represented carbon dioxide content in inhaled air, as well as issues related to the validity of the study conclusions. In their invited responses to these and other concerns, the authors did not provide sufficiently convincing evidence to resolve these issues, as determined by editorial evaluation and additional scientific review. Given fundamental concerns about the study methodology, uncertainty regarding the validity of the findings and conclusions, and the potential public health implications, the editors have retracted this Research Letter.
Journals don't like redacting papers - it's an admission of screwing up harming the journal's prestige. So they don't redact papers if they have any choice.
In other words, the authors are not martyrs for Truth, Justice, and the American way. They are a type, all too common in academy nowadays: straight A students (tuchusleckers) without a shred of genuine ability who got into tenure track but failed to produce any results of notice. Went mad & crossed the line (faked the results) to publish something "significant".
Happens every day.
It still seems that my grandchildren, all who wore masks at school this last semester, had lots more headaches than usual and were really tired after getting home from school (which is definitely NOT normal for them). The younger ones often took naps before supper, something that hasn't happened for years.
I still believe that the masks adversely affected the children's health in some way.

I don't know - though I've never seen kids suffer breathing problems due to mask. Most kids, my son's age wear masks even on the street when you don't have too. Hell, I've seen them play soccer in masks.
Have you visited the classroom? Cause, sometimes, that can be illuminating.
[Right Scoop] Sharing is caring! It looks like the Senate may soon be voting on this ’bipartisan’ infrastructure bill which Trump warned about earlier this week:
[Aljazeera] Like thousands of his compatriots, Abdel Khalid Nabyar waited outside Afghanistan’s main passport office to apply for the precious travel document that would allow him to leave the war-torn nation.
With the Taliban making huge advances in the countryside as foreign forces wind up their withdrawal, many Afghans — those with the means, at least — are looking for a way out.
"If the situation worsens, we might have to leave," said Nabyar, 52, who feels particularly vulnerable because he once ran a shop on a NATO military base.
Not everyone will make an immediate exit but most want the safety net — knowing they can leave at short notice.
"People want to be prepared in advance in case things go wrong," added Nabyar.

Where are the Afghans heading? Hope not our southern border via Central America. Is the current Dem regime going to welcome them with open arms (sarc).

JohnQC, I believe almost all will wait in Tajikistan refugee camps while the State Department processes their paperwork... and stay there until the Taliban are again defeated, no doubt, should their application be rejected.
[France24] In this edition: At least 30 jihadists have been killed by Rwandan forces who were deployed to Mozambique. Rwanda is just one of several countries that have sent troops to the country after a recent uptick in activity by Shabaab Islamist extremists.
[Just The News] As the Biden administration ramps up the release of illegal migrants detained at the southern border, they are exempting many from the Transportation Security Agency's government photo ID rules for airline travel, giving them special permissions to fly after a background check.
TSA officials say they are confident the screenings that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials are doing before migrants are permitted onto U.S. domestic flights is ensuring security. But a former head of the CBP told Just the News he is not so sure.
"I'm sure CBP is doing as much due diligence as possible," said Mark Morgan, who served as acting commissioner of the agency under President Donald Trump and chief of U.S. Border Patrol and acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement under President Barack Obama. "But when you have 180,000 people crossing a month and many don't have the official travel documents normally needed to ensure identity, there is only so much you can do."
All American passengers are required to provide TSA a government-issued photo ID, usually a state-issued driver's license or a passport, Homeland Security trusted traveler card, green card or a Department of Defense ID. There are procedures when an American forgets their ID at the airport, which requires filling out extensive paperwork, waiting for ID verification and then undergoing a pat-down search according to the TSA Web site.

[American Thinker] Sinclair Lewis's novel of 1935, It Can't Happen Here, was published amid the rise of fascism in Europe. The book is about the political career of fictional Buzz Windrip, who is elected president in 1936, defeating FDR with a campaign promising a return to traditional values and drastic social and economic reforms (he promises every American $5K). Once elected, he becomes a totalitarian tyrant, complete with his own paramilitary force called the Minute Men!
Windrip is Lewis's version of an American Hitler and/or Mussolini. But consider the parallels with the current occupant of the Oval Office. Windrip outlaws dissent (consider the Biden administration's partnership with Big Tech to censor opposing opinions). He, Windrip, imprisons his critics just as Biden has jailed anyone present at the Capitol on January 6. Biden has his own Minute Men, the FBI, as well as a couple of other paramilitary groups in service of his agenda — Antifa and BLM. They are his shock troops, who, like Windrip's thugs, terrorize his opponents, freedom-loving, independent thinking Americans.
Like Biden, Buzz Windrip abrogated the rights of civilians and divided the nation into "administrative sectors" to be managed by federal "Corpo" authorities and enforced by his Minute Men. Pelosi is now installing branches of the Capitol Police throughout the country to seek out perceived threats to members of Congress. The similarities to Lewis's two-dimensional dictator and the Biden regime are chilling.
As in the novel, opponents of the Obama/Biden regime have been found guilty until proven innocent of un-committed crimes, from Gen. Michael Flynn to Roger Stone to anyone who worked for Trump to the 1/6 protesters, by corrupt judges in kangaroo courts whipped up by a manic, historically ignorant media establishment whose members loathe anyone or anything remotely conservative or constitutional. Viciously opposed to Donald Trump, the mainstream media covered for the massive crimes against the nation that were occurring from the day Trump became the Republican presidential candidate. The left invented the Russia collusion narrative out of thin air. It was pursued as legitimate by the FBI, the DOJ, the CIA, and our despicable journalist class. All of them likely knew it was false from the outset, but they all colluded to damage a president who actually meant to represent the people, not just the ruling elite. The swamp, left and right, was threatened and fought back with the ferocity of a cornered animal. With the 2020 election, they think they've won, but have they?
This quote from Lewis's book perfectly describes Joe Biden:

I'd like to say I have no problem with what people today call tyranny. In the right hands. I would that the Republicans had done exactly what the Left is doing today, decades ago.
No, there would be a difference, for those saying 'then we'd be the same as them!'
The principal error of self-righteous conservatives has always been the inability to pick a side and stick with it until dominion is theirs. [pun unintended]
[Gateway] Republican Representative Timothy Ramthum joined The Gateway Pundit to discuss his call for a forensic audit in the state of Wisconsin.
Rep. Ramthun called for a forensic audit back on July 16th. During his interview today Ramthun told Jim Hoft and Joe Hoft that he has heard from several experts outside the state including Seth Keshel on their thoughts for an audit in Wisconsin.
Ramthun also spoke in favor of Representative Janel Brandtjen’s announcement earlier this week to push forward with a forensic audit in the state.
Rep. Brandtjen is the Chair of the Wisconsin Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections. She visited the Maricopa audit earlier this month. On Monday she called for an Arizona-style audit of Wisconsin’s November election.
...former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Nigeria, he converted to Shi'ism after a visit to Iran, and now is a fiery Iranian sock puppet. He’s head of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), which Nigeria declared a terror group in 2019. Like the Muslim Brotherhood, its spinoffs, including Boko Haram/ISWAP, are much more violent. He is the only Zakzaky in our archives, though the rest of his name suffers considerable variation...
and his wife have been in jail since 2015. On Wednesday, a Nigerian court acquitted the couple and ordered their release.
A Nigerian court on Wednesday acquitted and ordered the release of Shiite Moslemholy man Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah Ibrahim.
The two have been in jail since 2015, facing eight charges brought by the Kaduna state government in 2018, including aiding and abetting homicide, unlawful assembly and disruption of public peace.
"The court has discharged and acquitted Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky and his wife of all the charges filed against them. They have regained their freedom today," said Sadau Garba, a lawyer for the couple.
WHO IS IBRAHIM ZAKZAKY AND WHY WAS HE JAILED?
Zakzaky, who has called for an Iranian-style Islamic revolution in the country, was initially arrested alongside his wife and some 200 followers from his Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in a violent mostly peaceful government crackdown in the northern Nigerian city of Zaria, in December 2015.
When a court ordered the couple released in 2016, the government simply ignored the ruling and filed murder charges against them.
The charge stemmed from the 2015 crackdown in which an estimated 350 people were killed by government forces at an IMN compound and a nearby mosque and burial ground in northern Kaduna state over the course of two days of festivities.
The crackdown was sparked when IMN members blocked an army command convoy during a religious procession. At first, the army denied the events, then claimed that a soldier had been killed by armed Shiites.
DEADLY PROTESTS LED TO A BAN OF ZAKZAKY'S ISLAMIC MOVEMENT OF NIGERIA
Most IMN members jugged Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! in 2015, were released in the course of 2019 and 2020. The continued detention of Zakaky and his wife, however, sparked protests that turned deadly, leading the government of Nigeria to outlaw the IMN 2019.
Wednesday's court decision was "a victory for truth and justice against tyranny and impunity," according to IMN front man Ibrahim Musa.
"This judgement has not only vindicated them and all members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria, but it is certainly a victory for perseverance in the face of extreme persecution by the Nigerian government," said Musa.
Defense lawyers say the couple will, "seek damages against the Kaduna state government for all the deprivations and the travails our client[s] suffered."
Dari Bayero, the state's lead prosecutor, confirmed that the pair had been freed but said, "we are certainly going to file charges against the duo at appeal."
HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) — The La Joya Police Department issued a public health announcement after an officer approached an undocumented migrant family at Whataburger who told him Border Patrol released them because they had COVID-19.
On July 26 the police department of the small town along the Rio Grande and Mexican border shared details of the incident. They said a concerned citizen at the restaurant waved down the officer. The citizen told him about the family "coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths and not wearing face masks."
Whataburger management also told the officer that they wanted the group to leave as well due to "their disregard to other people’s health."
In addition to telling the officer that Border Patrol had released them days prior due to their coronavirus status, the family said a charity group had paid for their room at the nearby Texas Inn Hotel. The officer followed up on that information, finding out that Catholic Charities of The Rio Grande Valley had booked all the rooms in the hotel to house undocumented immigrants detained by Border Patrol. He saw a group of 20 to 30 people staying at the hotel who were "out and about." Most of them weren’t wearing masks, according to the officer.
[Washington Examiner] KUWAIT CITY — World Health Organization investigators ought to return to China for "studies into the" origins of the coronavirus pandemic, according to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who urged a meeting with the global health body’s chief.
"He stressed the need for the next phase to be timely, evidence-based, transparent, expert-led, and free from interference," said State Department spokesman Ned Price on Wednesday evening after Blinken’s discussion with WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
Chinese officials have opposed a second inquiry because WHO officials have signaled they would explore the hypothesis the contagion spilled out of a virology lab in Wuhan, where the virus was first detected. A previous WHO investigation declared this idea "extremely unlikely," but Tedros acknowledged this finding was "premature" after U.S. and European officials denounced China’s lack of candor with the investigators. One of the outspoken critics of the so-called lab leak theory was also recused from the investigative team over an apparent conflict of interest.
"Secretary Blinken affirmed U.S. support for the WHO’s plans to conduct additional studies into the COVID-19 origins, including in the People’s Republic of China," Price said. "Secretary Blinken emphasized the importance of the international community coming together on this matter of critical concern and reiterated our support for a multilateral approach to global health security more broadly."
[OneIndia] Prior to the attacks of Mumbai 26/11, the Lashkar-e-Tayiba had indicated its willingness to fight alongside the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... in Afghanistan. Back in the day, the ISI had not approved of this and felt that the focus of the outfit should be on India, especially Jammu and Kashmir ...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... Pakistain did not want its most important proxy to fight in Afghanistan as the US troops were very much in place there. The 26/11 attack originally planned by Ilyas Kashmiri of the 313 Brigade of the al-Qaeda was handed over to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba with the sole intention of keeping its fighters away from Afghanistan.

[AnNahar] The conviction of a New Yorker charged with providing material support to Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... by seeking targets in New York City for terrorist attacks has been upheld by an appeals court, though one of three judges questioned the 40-year prison sentence, saying it was too long because nobody was harmed directly by the crimes.
It seems a fair enough sentence for a man who married just for citizenship so he could reconnoiter and prep terror attacks on the orders of Hizb’allah and Iran.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled on Ali Kourani's appeal challenging the conviction and the sentence.
[AnNahar] Tunisia lurched further into political uncertainty Wednesday, as President Kais Saied sacked more officials, days after he suspended parliament and assumed executive powers in what opponents labelled a "coup".
Key civil society groups warned against any "illegitimate" extension of Saied's 30-day suspension of parliament, and demanded in a joint statement a timeline for political action.
After suspending parliament and sacking Hichem Mechichi as prime minister on Sunday, dismissing the defense and justice ministers on Monday, Saied then issued orders dismissing a series of brass hats.
Late Tuesday, 63-year-old Saied, a former law lecturer who was a political newcomer when he won a landslide 2019 election victory, issued decrees sacking a long list of senior government officials, including the army's chief prosecutor.
He has also lifted the parliamentary immunity of politicians, and assumed judicial powers.
Saied say his actions are justified under the constitution, which allows the head of state to take unspecified exceptional measures in the event of an "imminent threat".
- POLITICAL, ECONOMIC, HEALTH CRISES -
The moderate Islamist Ennahdha party, which was the largest faction in the coalition government, has labelled the power grab a "coup d'état", while the US, EU and other powers have voiced strong concern.
On top of the political turmoil, the North African nation is struggling with a cripplingly economic crisis including soaring inflation and high unemployment, as well as surging Covid-19 infections.
Tunisians are waiting anxiously for clarity on the next political steps.
Saied, an austere legal academic who has said he is determined to revolutionize the political system through the law, said he would assume executive power "with the help" of a government whose new chief he would appoint himself.
Names of possible candidates circulated Wednesday after Saied met with representatives of national organizations late Monday.
"President Saied will be very careful in choosing the future head of government, because he wants a trustworthy and loyal person who would adopt the same policies as him," said political scientist Slaheddine Jourchi.
The young democracy had often been cited as the sole success story of the Arab Spring, the tumult sparked across the region after Mohammed Bouazizi, a Tunisian university graduate who could only find work as a fruit vendor, set himself on fire in December 2010.
But, a decade on, many in the nation of 12 million people say they have seen little improvement in living standards, and have grown infuriated by protracted political deadlock with infighting among the elite.
The ousted government had also been criticized for its handling of the Covid pandemic. Tunisia has one of the world's highest official per-capita corpse counts.
- 'A GREAT CHALLENGE' -
"President Saied is faced with a great challenge: to show Tunisians and the world that he made the right decisions," added Jourchi.
After violent mostly peacefulfestivities outside the army-blockaded parliament on Monday, the Ennahdha party said "organized thugs" were being used to "provoke bloodshed and chaos".
It urged its supporters "to go home in the interests of maintaining the peace and security of our nation".
On Tuesday Ennahdha said that, "for the sake of the democratic path," it is "ready to go to early legislative and presidential elections" while demanding "that any delay is not used as a pretext to maintain an autocratic regime."
Noureddine B'Hiri, a senior Ennahdha leader, said the party had "decided to campaign peacefully to defeat" the president's plans.
But before any elections, "parliament should resume its activities and the military end its control," B'Hiri told AFP.
In the 10 years since Tunisia's popular revolution toppled dictator Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Tunisia has had nine governments.
Some have lasted just months, hindering the reforms needed to revamp the country's struggling economy and poor public services.
I don't really know what to say this time around, this is just a reminder that the authorities really do have something to hide.

The vaccine is not free now — it’s just that the government bought the doses up front, so the taxpayers have been paying for it instead of the health insurance companies.
[RUDAW.NET] A Syrian doctor has been charged in Germany with crimes against humanity for allegedly torturing people in military hospitals in his homeland and killing one of them, German federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe said in a statement that Alla Mousa, who came to Germany in 2015 and practiced medicine before he was arrested last year, is accused of 18 counts of torturing people in military hospitals in the Syrian cities of Homs and Damascus. The allegations include charges that Mousa tried to make people infertile. Shoulda claimed Planned Parenthood membership
A federal indictment charged him with murder, severe bodily harm, attempted bodily harm and dangerous bodily harm, the statement said.
Prosecutors said after the beginning of the opposition uprising against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad Terror of Aleppo ... in 2011, protesters were frequently arrested and tortured. Injured civilians who were thought to be members of the opposition were also taken to military hospitals, where they were tortured and sometimes killed.
In February, a German court convicted a former member of Assad’s secret police of facilitating the torture of prisoners in a landmark ruling that human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... activists said would set a precedent for other cases in the decade-long conflict.
Eyad al-Gharib was convicted of accessory to crimes against humanity and sentenced by the Koblenz state court to four and a half years in prison.
It was the first time that a court outside Syria ruled in a case alleging Syrian government officials committed crimes against humanity. German prosecutors invoked the principle of universal jurisdiction for serious crimes to bring the case that involved victims and defendants in Germany.
In the current case, prosecutors accuse the Syrian doctor of having poured alcohol over the genitals of a teenage boy and another man and setting fire to them with a cigarette lighter at military hospital No. 608 in Homs. He is also accused of torturing nine more people in the same hospital in 2011 by kicking and beating them.
The indictment also alleges that Mousa kicked and beat a jugged Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! man who was suffering an epileptic seizure. A few days later, the doctor gave the man a medication and he subsequently died without the exact cause of death ever clearly being identified, German prosecutors said.
The indictment lists other cases of alleged torture at the military hospital in Homs, including hanging people from the ceiling and beating them with a plastic baton, and pouring flammable liquids over the hand of one of them and burning it. Mousa also is accused of kicking another patient’s open, infected wound, pouring disinfectant into it and setting it on fire.
In one case in 2012, Mousa allegedly beat and kicked an inmate severely. When the man defended himself by kicking back, Mousa beat him to the ground with the help of a male nurse and shortly after administered a toxic substance that killed the inmate, German prosecutors allege.
In addition to the torture allegations at the military hospital in Homs, Mousa is also accused of abusing inmates at the military hospital Mezzeh No. 601 in Damascus between late 2011 and March 2012.

[SHAFAQ] The leader of the Kurdistan Socialist Democratic Party, Mohammed Haji Mahmoud, said on Wednesday that Iraq will replicate the Afghani scenario following the U.S. troops' departure from the country.
Mahmoud's comments came in a statement on the U.S.-Iraqi Strategic Dialogue and outcomes of the Iraqi Premier Mustafa al-Kadhimi's meeting with U.S. President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem mschine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family... in Washington earlier this week.
Mahmoud, aka Kaka Hama, said, "al-Kadhimi is not the decision-maker in Iraq...the U.S. will withdraw from many territories in Iraq, as in Afghanistan."

Atlanta police officers were called to the entrance of Piedmont Park near the city's Midtown area just after 1 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a person stabbed. When they arrived, they found a woman with multiple stab wounds.
A veteran officer told Fox-owned WAGA-TV that the stabbing was unlike anything he'd ever seen.
The woman was described as being in her 40s. Her identity has not been released and authorities have not said whether she was targeted or attacked in a random act.

From the AJC Midtown Neighbors’ Association and Channel 2 identified the victim as Katherine Janness. Authorities told the news station that Janness had dinner with her wife Tuesday evening, and later took the dog for a walk in Midtown..... Janness was a bartender at nearby Campagnolo Restaurant and Bar.
She was White about 40 y/o and in a F/F relationship.
WSB-TV: Hours later, park goers on a morning walk in Gwinnett County discovered the body of a woman beneath a tree at Yellow River Park near Stone Mountain. She had been shot to death.... "...the victim is a light skin Black woman between the ages of 20 and 35."
The only similarity so far is both were Females and killed in parks less than a 20 min drive apart.

Grom, That is one nice-looking dog. A well-trained Belgian Malinois is another good working dog. My nephew has had Rottweilers for as long as I can remember and they can be a truly intimidating dog.

No significant sea based delivery. We already have enough existing infrastructure and leadership targets as it is. All else is overkill. Given what can be done with bio-weapons (to include the ability to get away with using them), its redundant.

...A good friend - lost him at Christmas to the Wu Flu - was a strategic analyst by trade. Something he always liked to point out is that once you get a sufficiently large and long-ranged nuclear arsenal, the result tends to be strategic paralysis at that level. Sure, you got a metric shiat-ton of bombs....but so does the other guy.
Up till now, the Chinese weren't a Cold-War-Era USSR level threat to us - they only had about 275 nuclear weapons total, and only a very small SLBM force - apparently, they're even more nervous about missile subs than the Russians were, and that's saying something. Yeah, they could threaten Japan, the ROK, Taiwan, or Russia, but they only had about 70 ICBMs, some of which had to be reserved for use against the Russians. They'll be able to take us on now...and they're going to discover how tough it really is.
Wasn't it the ancient Chinese who coined the saying, "Be careful what you wish for?"

A Tampa, Fla. man has been sentenced by a federal court to five years in prison for burning down a sports store during BLM race rioting last year. The arson attack caused around $1.25 million in damages to Champs and other businesses in the store plaza. https://t.co/N4hLieJvJL
Terrance Lee Hester has been sentenced to five years in prison in connection to the incident. He surrendered to federal authorities in July of 2020 in Oswego, New York, according to WFLA 8.
Video footage taken on Sunday, May 31 shows Hester placing a burning shirt into the broken window of the Champs store. According to the Department of Justice, the building became fully engulfed in a fire that resulted in an estimated $1.25 million in damages to Champs and other businesses in the store plaza.
Hester pleaded guilt to a federal arson charge in March. He reportedly faced a minimum sentence in prison of five years, and a maximum of 20 years.

WOW! News of the weird, unusual, rare and bizarre. That's a story you don't see very often; a BLM thug getting a prison sentence for arson during a riot.
[BIZPACREVIEW] Democrat Seattle Mayor Jenny Durken is calling for more police after six shootings over the weekend and a loss of 250 officers within the last 17 months has left her city in chaos.Five of the six weekend shootings occurred within blocks of one another and left four people dead and seven injured in their wake.
"As a city, we cannot continue on this current trajectory of losing coppers," Mayor Durkan said at a presser. "Over the past 17 months, the Seattle Police Department has lost 250 coppers which is the equivalent of over 300,000 service hours. We’re on path to losing 300 coppers."
Like other Democrat-run metropolitan cities across America, Seattle has seen a drastic reduction in the size of their police force, losing 20 percent of its officers who cite an "anti-police climate" in the city as the prime mover for quitting or retiring early.
She added that her city’s woes are part of a national epidemic that produced more than 900 shootings last week alone.
The total number of people shot this year in Seattle has increased 61% (thus far), significantly more than the already-alarming increase of 33% nationally as compared to the same 7-month time period between 2017 and 2020, according to a Fox News report.
Last year, Durken and the Seattle City Council butted heads over the council’s attempts to defund the police department, with Durken ultimately vetoing the asinine resolution.
But that hasn’t stopped the cops from getting the hell out of Dodge, as it were.
"Not unexpected," the mayor remarked, "losing these number of officers, when city leaders talk about cutting the department by 50%. You will lose employees. Families need security. Workers, even coppers, need working conditions that support them."
She continued, "We cannot just cut. We need a plan."
Tensions heightened last year between police and city officials over the anarchistic "autonomous zone" set up by misguided and mentally deficient liberals who had recently ventured out of their respective mothers’ basements for the first time.
Their attempt to live outside the law resulted in weeks of looting, vandalism and violence, to no one’s surprise but theirs, and forced Mayor Durken to issue an executive order for police to clear the zone after the petulant squatters refused to comply.
Many officers revealed in exit interviews their dismay with conditions in the city, citing a "lack of support" from the government, including Police Chief Carmen Best, who said a "lack of respect" from city leadership was her motivation in retiring early.
The current police chief, Adrian Diaz, is also urging the city to hire new officers to mitigate the scourge communities are suffering.
"I need more officers," Diaz said, adding that he requires support from the city "making it clear to officers, current and prospective...that they will have our support, financially and otherwise, to do this job well and know they will not be laid off due to budget cuts."
Recent national polling show unsurprising results, with 90 percent of Americans in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... , for instance, saying they want more cops, not less, according to a USA Today poll.
And in reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... , a city famous for its stupidly optimistic gun restrictions, 79 percent of citizens say they feel much safer when there is a police presence in their neighborhoods, a MacArthur Foundation poll found.

Is there something in the water up in Seattle that causes a collective stupidity?
No, its the true ruling class of white privilege that believes in fairy tales about human behavior rather than the truth of 4000 years of human history.

[RUDAW.NET] Kurdish and Iraqi forces arrested more than a dozen suspected Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group (ISIS) members, including leaders, in raids across the country.
Kurdish security forces late on Tuesday arrested four ISIS members, including two prominent leaders, in separate operations in Halabja, the Sulaimani’s internal security forces announced on Wednesday. A fifth suspect was arrested in Sulaimani city.
The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) also announced arrests in Anbar and Baghdad.
A terrorist network of six snuffies was dismantled in Anbar governorate and three others were arrested in Baghdad. One of them, a leader, brought the security forces to a terrorist den south of the capital where the group was storing kabooms.
The ICTS said they also thwarted an operation to blow up electricity towers northeast of Baghdad, and arrested an ISIS member in Diyala.
Scores of ISIS suspects have been arrested in Iraq in recent months. The "Emir of Baghdad" was picked up in Baghdad in July, five ISIS suspects were arrested planning an attack on Erbil in the same month, and in April, 22 ISIS suspects were arrested in Sulaimani.

"In the evening of July 27, the Syrian air defense system detected a drone that was launched by militants from illegal armed units from the Kafer-Khattar community in the Idlib Province. The militant drone was downed over the Hama Province by alert forces of the Syrian air defense who used a Russia-produced Pantsyr-S missile system," he said, noting that the Russian center is calling on the heads of illegal armed units to abandon violence and move toward a peaceful resolution of the situation.

The Feds are going to terminate this effort via legal ruling or Federalization of forces. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. We could have a George Wallace - University of Alabama moment coming soon.
I believe there is a name for a very unpleasant situation which pits state forces and law enforcement against Federal forces. This could be the tipping point.
The seemingly overnight transition of our military into a WOKE tool of the administration may have had a specific purpose.

I believe the distinction here is when the feds use troops, the troops can't make an arrest. They can detain for federal marshals to pick up making the formal arrest. In this case, the governor is deputizing the troops to actually make an arrest.

In a 29-page response to Brooks’ petition, which would obligate the DOJ to take over his defense if successful, the department said the politician’s appearance at the rally was "campaign activity, and it is no part of the business of the United States to pick sides among candidates in federal elections."
"Members of Congress are subject to a host of restrictions that carefully distinguish between their official functions, on the one hand, and campaign functions, on the other," the DOJ added. "The conduct at issue here thus is not the kind a Member of Congress holds office to perform."
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban ...Arabic for students... ’s political office spokesperson Naeem Wardak in a Twitter post said that a nine-member delegation led by the head of office Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar visited China on Tuesday.
The Taliban delegation is visiting China on a two-day trip and met with the foreign minister of China, Wang Yi, reads the tweet.
As per Naeem Wardak, the delegation includes, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, Suhail Shaheen, Abdulsalaam Hanafi, Khairullah Khairkhaw, Shahabudeen Delawar, Matiullah Khales, Emar Yaser, Nebrasulhaq Aziz, and the spokesperson himself.
The visit is said to be aimed at discussing bilateral relations with China, the grinding of the peace processor, and other relevant issues.
Naeem Wardak in a series of Twitter posts said that the delegation has assured China that they-Taliban- will not pose any threat to neighboring countries and China has also pledged not to interfere in other’s internal issues and will contribute to the grinding of the peace processor of Afghanistan.
The Taliban’s last visit was that to Russia after a meeting with the Afghan government delegation in the Iranian capital Tehran.

[OneIndia] The Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... has reached out to the Chinese to help it expand its footprint in Afghanistan. The same was conveyed by Taliban leader, Mullah Baradar during a meeting with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi held on July 27.
The assurance from the Taliban that it will not allow Afghanistan to be used against third country come in the backdrop of reports stating that Pakistain has been using the Lashkar-e-Tayiba fight in the country. New Delhi has been raising this issue of ungoverned territory in Afghanistan by the international terror groups.
Afghan officials have said that Pakistain has been shifting its terror groups into Afghanistan for over an year now. Afghanistan's Caped President, had also slammed Pakistain in the presence of its Prime Minister, Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who isn't your heaviest-duty thinker, maybe not even among the top five... at the connectivity meeting held at Uzbekistan.
Further more proof of Pakistain sending its turbans comes from the fact that several persons who had died in recent times along with the Taliban fighters had a Pakistain identity card on them.

[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the Ministry of the Interior of the Government of National Unity (GNU) announced the death of an intoxicated man after attacking a checkpoint in the city of Sibrata, injuring at least five members of the security patrol.
In a statement, the ministry said that a security patrol had stopped a car carrying three men, who were apparently drunk, and were in possession of illegal weapons.
It added that the patrol members ordered them to exit their vehicle, and hand over their weapons. One of the men reportedly took out a grenade, and threw it at the members of the patrol, resulting in his death, the injury of those accompanying him, and five members of the patrol.

[TheTimes] The woman who was stabbed at Speakers’ Corner on Sunday has claimed that the venue has become hostile and dangerous for evangelical Christians.
Hatun Tash told The Times that over the past two years she had been verbally and physically assaulted at Speakers’ Corner, Hyde Park, which is known for freedom of expression.
A fortnight before she was attacked, Tash had begun legal proceedings against Scotland Yard over allegations of false arrest and imprisonment.
She claimed she was wrongly held in December and again in May over festivities with groups of Moslems.
On Sunday, Tash, 39, was wearing a Charlie Hebdo ...A lefty French satirical magazine, home of what may well be the majority if the active testicles left in Europe... T-shirt when she was stabbed in the face by a man in black.
Police said that officers were continuing to search for the suspect and that at present the attack was not being treated as terrorism-related.
Tash, who is from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... but moved to the UK eight years ago, told The Times that she was a former Moslem who converted to Christianity.
She began preaching at Speakers’ Corner in 2013 and said: "In my early days Speakers’ Corner was a much calmer place. Now it is not and I am regularly attacked by a Moslem mob."
[RUDAW.NET] Iraqi security forces have launched an operation in Kirkuk aiming to clear out remnants of Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. (ISIS) bully boyz that are active in the south of the province, an official has told Rudaw.
"The aim of this operation is clearing the area of ISIS [Arabic acronym for ISIS] remnants that are few in number," commander of the Iraqi army’s 32nd Brigade, Brigadier General Ahmed al-Shammari, told Rudaw’s Hardi Mohammed on Wednesday.
The operation also includes "protecting the oil fields, electricity towers and gas companies, in addition to securing protection for citizens," he added.
The area is rural, mostly agricultural land, which makes movement "hard" but not impossible, according to the commander.
Iraq’s security media cell announced the launch of the operation on Tuesday, which is under the direct supervision of the Joint Operations Command.
ISIS seized control of swathes of Iraq and Syria in 2014. The group was declared territorially defeated in Iraq in 2017 and Syria in 2019 but remains a threat on both sides of the border, carrying out bombings, hit-and-run attacks, and abductions across several provinces.
Several attacks on electricity towers have been reported in the past months, mostly in the disputed territories where ISIS has exploited a security vacuum. One terrorist was killed by security forces in Diyala province as he was trying to blow up an electricity pylon late last month.

A graduate gender studies student at the prestigious @LSEnews is revealed to have written an academic paper & speech expressing desire to slash throats of cis women who object to radical trans ideology. @M_ttThompson was even lauded by their professors. https://t.co/Ni0PH9FCRd
A paper presented by a student at the London School of Economics in the gender studies department calls for direct and sustained violence against women, specifically those who hold gender critical views. The paper was presented first in April 2021 and then again in June at a conference in the Department of Gender Studies, which is organized by doctoral students.
Author of the paper Matt A. Thompson read from his work.
The London School of Economics was founded by a bunch of Fabian Socialists including the execrable George Bernard Shaw. Graduates include George Soros, Pierre Trudeau, Monica Lewinsky, and Saif al-Islam Kadaffy, so this particularly vicious idiot fits perfectly.

GBS openly and strongly approved of the both the ethnic genocides of the Nazis and the class genocides of the USSR as not only necessary along the way to producing a Communist society, but desirable as an absolute. I only discovered this recently, after growing up reading and loving his plays.

[Abreitbart] Illinois Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a law Tuesday decriminalizing HIV transmission. He also signed laws creating “gender-neutral” marriage certificates and expanding fertility insurance for LGBT couples and single parents.
According to a press release from the governor’s office, in an effort to “end HIV,” HB 1036 “modernizes the approach to public health regarding HIV in Illinois, by decriminalizing the transmission of HIV.”
The governor’s press release continues:
[T]his legislation amends the Unified Code of Corrections to remove the State’s Attorney ability to request the results of an HIV test if it is relevant to prosecute the charge of criminal transmission of HIV. The bill also amends the AIDS Confidentiality Act so that the disclosure of HIV-related information would no longer be able to be released. Ultimately, the legislation ensures HIV is treated like other chronic conditions, furthering the administration’s mission to end HIV in Illinois.
Illinois state Rep. Carol Ammons (D-Urbana), who came under scrutiny in May after disrespecting a fallen police officer on the state House floor, posted on Twitter, “laws that criminalize HIV were never about public health and safety. They were about pushing LGBTQ+ people, particularly within Black and Brown communities”:

[TASS] Troops from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will practice eliminating outlawed armed gangs, conducting air reconnaissance and protecting facilities during joint drills that will run in Central Asia next week, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Wednesday.
The press office of Russia’s Central Military District earlier reported that over 1,500 troops from Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan would participate in joint drills at the Kharb-Maidon practice range 20 km from the Afghan border on August 5-10.
"Next week, we will hold joint drills with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan on their territories for the purposes of reacting to the aggravating situation in Afghanistan. The drills will focus on practical measures to rout and eliminate outlawed armed gangs by firepower, conduct air reconnaissance and strengthen the protection of vital facilities," the Russian defense minister said at a meeting of the defense chiefs from the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Dushanbe.
In September, the SCO’s Peace Mission-2021 counter-terror command and staff exercise is scheduled to take place at the Donguzsky training ground in the Orenburg Region in the Urals, Shoigu added.
"Similar drills, but with the participation of the CSTO [Collective Security Treaty Organization] Collective Forces, will take place in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the fall. Subsequently, as it has been proposed that military contingents of the CSTO Collective Operational Response Forces and units of friendly countries should be engaged in Peace Mission drills to practice jointly thwarting terror threats," the Russian defense chief said.
[FOX] Two federal whistleblowers are alleging that Department of Health and Human Services instructed them to downplay a coronavirus outbreak amongst migrant children being housed at a facility in Fort Bliss, Texas, earlier this year, according to a complaint filed Wednesday.
The complaint, which was sent to four Congressional committees and government watchdogs, was filed by the nonprofit Government Accountability Project on behalf of Arthur Pearlstein and Lauren Reinhold — who they say are "career federal civil servants" and "whistleblowers" who "served as volunteer detailees at the Fort Bliss Emergency Intake Site from April through June 2021."
"COVID was widespread among children and eventually spread to many employees. Hundreds of children contracted COVID in the overcrowded conditions," the complaint says. "Adequate masks were not consistently provided to children, nor was their use consistently enforced."

[ToloNews] Fighting between the Afghan cops and the Taliban ...Arabic for students... reportedly continued in at least 20 provinces across the country in the past 24 hours including Ghazni, Takhar, Kandahar, Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... and Baghlan provinces.
In the latest incidents of violence, several rounds of rockets hit Maimana city, the center of Faryab province, and PD5 of Lashkargah city has also fallen to the Taliban.
In the western province of Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... , local officials said that the security forces have imposed a nighttime curfew on Herat city to help thwart Taliban threats.
"The Afghan security and defense forces continue with their operations by air and on the ground regularly against Taliban’s positions. The Taliban’s casualties have increased than ever before, territories are being liberated each day from the Taliban’s control," said Fawad Aman, deputy front man for the Ministry of Defense.
"The people have grave concerns about the Taliban’s mortar attacks on Maimana city, the people want the Taliban to stop these mortar attacks on Maimana city, because the people are killed in these attacks," said Massoud Adil, a resident in Maimana.
"The people are suffering because of mortar attacks by the Taliban," said Abdul Qader Joya, a resident in Maimana.
"I want to reassure the people of Herat to not be worried about their security--we will fight for our country, national pride and Islamic values until our last drop of blood," said Taimoor Shah Tarin, a police officer in Herat.
One resident said that taxis should be allowed an exception in the curfew:
"Taxis are carrying patients at night and must be an exception at night, they must be allowed to ride around," said Mohammad Asif, a resident in Herat.
"The security of Herat city is stable, the security belts around the city are stable and they will be strengthened, there are no security concerns in Herat city, the people are continuing their routine life," said Abdul Saboor Qane, governor of Herat.
According to the statistics by the Afghan Ministry of Defense, in the past 24 hours the security forces have killed 189 Taliban fighters and maimed another 140.
The Taliban have not commented on their casualties.

Always a pleasure watching genuine American athletes.
For a group "claiming" to be Anti-Fascist.
These Thugs sure are behaving identical to the Mussolini's Black Shirts and Hitler's Brown Shirts of the 1930s to mid 40's. Plus they are now openly Anti-Semitic
Come to think of it a number of "WOKE" / BLM leadership (eg. Screwy Louie and many many others) are openly Anti-Semitic?

Being aggressively videoed by the other side is intimidating and tends to make people hold back their attacks, for fear the video will show them in the wrong at trial. It’s important to get the Black Bloc types on tape for that reason, just as they do it to their targets.
In a lengthy video statement today, Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq leader Qais al-Khazali derided the reported news of a U.S. troop withdrawal in #Iraq. pic.twitter.com/vg13QZlB3f
[NYPOST] A teenage girl in India was allegedly beaten to death and publicly hanged by male family members for wearing jeans.
The mother of Neha Paswan, 17, said her daughter’s grandfather and uncles attacked her with sticks in her own home following an argument about her clothes, according to the BBC.
The deadly beating happened last week in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh, one of the nation’s least developed regions, according to the outlet.
"She had kept a day-long religious fast. In the evening, she put on a pair of jeans and a top and performed her rituals. When her grandparents objected to her attire, Neha retorted that jeans were made to be worn and that she would wear it," Shakuntala Devi Paswan told BBC Hindi.
When the argument turned violent mostly peaceful and a gang beating left the girl unconscious, male relatives said they were calling a driver to take her to the hospital, according to the report.
"They wouldn’t let me accompany them so I alerted my relatives who went to the district hospital looking for her but couldn’t find her," Shakuntala Devi reportedly said.
The next morning, the girl’s mother found Neha’s body hanging from a bridge over a river, according to the article.
Ten people are reportedly being investigated for murder and destruction of evidence, including the teen’s grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and the driver of the auto rickshaw that was supposedly taking her to be treated. Four of them have been arrested, the outlet said.
Shakuntala Devi reportedly said her in-laws were pressuring Neha, an aspiring police officer, to abandon her studies in a local school, even as her father worked as a day laborer in Punjab 1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard

And they want to win against the moslems. For what?
India has managed to do some things right, for whatever reasons. We never depended on countries wishing to meddle, we sold a 'muslims are our brothers' narrative to the local fauna while dis-empowering them, and we covertly built us a nuke while Uncle Sam was busy with Watergate. And most importantly we kept our equivalent of Affirmative Action out of the military services.
Without civilian control hampering our military, in event of a large scale war, the world will see a different India from the one it is used to. Something the American deepState does not wish to see. It'd rather add to the balance of power on the Pakistain side unthinkingly. I believe DJT understood the value of a self-regulating, unaggressive top dawg in Asia and wanted to contribute to that but that's because he was neither Democrat nor Republican really.

Something about this story reads/sounds Islamic. Did I miss something?
Radical Hindus can be every bit as nasty as muslims when they react to what they see as a pollution of their beliefs and culture. And, this Uttar Pradesh, still very provincial and backward.

Yes, it was, Too Old To Work. It’s my understanding the practice started to prevent the Moslem conquerers (the Moghuls) from taking the widows as household slaves once they had no husband to protect them.
[NYPOST] Five high-ranking military leaders died in the span of just 10 days, according to the Cuban government — though it’s remained mum on the causes.
Brig. Gen. Armando Choy Rodriguez, 87, was the latest aging revolutionary to die, with Marta Abreu Central University announcing on Twitter that he passed away Monday.
Rodriguez was the founder of the "July 26 Movement" in Las Villas, and an author and historian, WPLG-TV in Miami said.
Also on Monday, Manuel Eduardo Lastres Pacheco, a former general who served under Argentine Ernesto "Che" Guevara during the revolution in the late 1950s, passed away, Cuban television confirmed.
Pacheco later served as commander of Cuba’s eastern army.
On Saturday, Gen. Ruben Martinez Puente, a 79-year-old general in Cuba’s army reserve and a controversial figure in the military, also died.
Puente was the general who gave the order to shoot down a civilian plane from the Cuban exile group Brothers to the Rescue in 1996 — bringing tensions with the US to a fever pitch.
Marcelo Verdecia Perdomo, another army reserve brigadier general and a former Castro bodyguard, died on July 20, the Communist Party newspaper Granma said.
Finally, Agustin Pena Porres, former commander of the western army and a member of Cuba’s Communist Central Committee, passed away on July 17, WPLG said.

I'm reminded that coincidence is never acceptable as an answer in any case above two instances....particularly when there is an economic, sexual or political motive possible....
[NATION.PK] The security situation in Afghanistan has shown little signs of improvement as fighting between government forces and the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... continues. The murderous Moslem group now claims to have taken control of a large majority of the country as government forces struggle to hold their ground. These struggles are evident as earlier this week 46 soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and Border Police were granted refuge and safe passage by the Pakistain Army. Reports revealed that a local ANA commander opposite Arundu, Chitral, sought help for the 46 soldiers as they were unable to hold their military posts along the Pak-Afghan border.
Meanwhile, ...back at the abandoned silver mine, a triangular dorsal fin appeared in the water. Then another... talks between the Afghan Taliban and the Ghani administration barely seemed to have progressed. While the Afghan government officials met with the Taliban in Doha on July 17, the meeting concluded without any substantial headway being made as promises were made of more talks in the future. This lack of momentum in talks is extremely concerning because the worsening situation is now posing serious threats to Afghanistan’s neighbours.
The 28th report of the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team has stated that the TTP has about 6,000 trained fighters on the Afghan side of the border. The more alarming finding of the report is the fact that despite growing distrust between the TTP and the Afghan Taliban, relations between the two groups still exist for operational purposes.
Apparently, a reunification took place in Afghanistan between the TTP and certain splinter groups in the period from December 2019 to August 2020. This moderation was reportedly facilitated by Al Qaeda which now maintains a presence in at least 15 Afghan provinces according to the UN report. The growing footprint of these groups and their alleged collaboration with the Afghan Taliban needs to be addressed by both regional and international stakeholders.
The threats are particularly pronounced for Pakistain, especially considering Noor Wali Mehsud’s (TTP leader) statement that their core objective is to fight the Pak security forces and gain control over the tribal regions. Pakistain should not be left to deal with this chaotic fallout on its own, and it is perhaps time to consider the formation of a regional security cooperative to counter this mutual threat.

My impression that the "Taliban" was always more a "mob" of bandits, brigands and villainy than an organization. As soon as the money runs out most will go home to steal from their real enemies -- the tribes neighboring them.
[AlAhram] The front man of Tunisia’s Financial and Judicial Pole said on Wednesday that an investigation has been opened in regards to three political parties for receiving foreign funding during previous elections.
Speaking to Sky News Arabia, Mohsen al-Dali said the probe will include the Islamist Ennahda Party, Qalb Tounes, and Aish Tounsi.
He added that those suspected of receiving funding to spend on electoral campaigns from either foreign or unknown sources will be facing legal actions pending investigation.
The Pole was established in 2012 as a specialised entity to investigate acts of corruption and money laundering.
The probe follows a group of decisions taken by President Kais Saied on Sunday in regards to Tunisia’s executive, legislative, and judicial authorities.
Saied said he will let the public prosecution be in charge of investigations into "crimes" committed against Tunisia, dismiss premier Hichem Mechichi, suspend the parliament for a month, and revoke the immunity of all parliamentarians.
The president will also lead the executive authority and announce a new head of government whose name is yet to be revealed. He also removed the defence ministers and acting justice minister from their posts.
Saied also ordered a nationwide curfew between 7pm and 6am from 26 July to 27 August and banned travelling across cities and public gatherings of more than three people.

[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] On Monday, progressive Delaware state Rep. Gerald Brady announced he won't seek re-election when his term expires after the Democrat politician sent an email reply containing an anti-Asian slur.
To set the stage, Brady's tenure included a decade on Wilmington's City Council and serving as the AFL-CIO's executive director. From 2006 onward, Brady was a state representative, an elected position that didn't have much of an end date in sight, until this latest debacle.
According to WDEL: an activist sent Gerald Brady a study about strip clubs reducing sex crimes, according to one particular New York City police precinct. Other local reporting specifies that Asian women were not "directly mentioned" with regards to "sex work work and strip clubs."
In return and what got Brady in trouble was his offensive reply back from his official government email address sent to the original sender by accident:
"Is the dude basically saying, if we provide free (sex acts) for Uncle Pervie there will be few rapes and few (a slur for Chinese women) will be shipped in CONEX containers to the Port of Wilmington??"
Delaware Online and The News Journal take credit for first publicizing the story. It's noted while emails from lawmakers are not "public record," the reply recipient made it available to these outlets. This June 27 response was sent directly back to the "advocate" in question, in what was supposed to be a separate reply to someone else, to summarize the findings. It's also noted that the usage of Brady's official government email address was an issue at hand.
Local activists picked up on the news and called for Brady's resignation.

Strange this goes against everything we been told by the MEDIA the last 10+ years. Where the Progressives aka Social-Democrat politicians are the least racist on earth. An the only people that are racist in the USA are Conservative Republicans.

[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, Gov. Gavin can't be Bee'd Newsom ...the Mitt Romneyesque mayor of San Francisco as it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of California as it transforms itself into Cinderland... yanked his children from a summer camp after his son was seen in maskless photographs posted on social media.
The development was first revealed by Reopen California Schools, an organization that filed a lawsuit challenging school coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... protocols in the Golden State. The group said the Democratic governor's 10-year-old son, presumably Hunter Newsom, was seen indoors without a face covering at a basketball program.
"The Newsoms were concerned to see unvaccinated children unmasked indoors at a camp their children began attending yesterday. Their kids will no longer be attending the camp," Newsom's office told Fox News on Tuesday.
Reopen California Schools, which did not name the camp in question, said the photographs were later removed from the organization's Instagram page.
Golden State guidance urges mask-wearing for ages 2-11, indoor K-12 settings, and other youth activities due to the fact that the Food and Drug Administration has not approved vaccinations for those under 12 years of age. On July 9, Newsom announced that students and teachers returning to the classroom in the fall will need to don face coverings, regardless of vaccination status.
[BUSINESSINSIDER] Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona on Wednesday came out in opposition to Democrats' $3.5 trillion spending blueprint, virtually ensuring her party would be forced to make substantial cuts to get her on board.
In a statement to The Arizona Republic, the moderate Democrat said while she supported efforts to bolster the country's economic competitiveness in an infrastructure plan, she believed the bill was too large.
"I have also made clear that while I will support beginning this process, I do not support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion — and in the coming months, I will work in good faith to develop this legislation with my colleagues and the administration to strengthen Arizona's economy and help Arizona's everyday families get ahead," she said.
Sinema's opposition will come as a blow to other Senate Democrats, who ultimately agreed on a $3.5 trillion spending plan earlier this month. Sen. Bernie Sanders ...The only first openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated out of it by Hillary Clinton, then went back to being an Independent socialist, waiting for 2020 to roll around... of Vermont, the chair of the Senate Budget Committee, had pressed for a much larger spending proposal but settled on $3.5 trillion. Earlier on July 28, hopes for the bill were raised as key Republican senators reached agreement with the White House on a bipartisan basis.
Other Democrats had expressed concern about high spending in a party-line process. Sen. Joe Manchin ...Dem senator-for-life from West Virginia. Manchin is one of the approximately one Dem senators who exhibits more integrity than Jello, often even representing his constituents... of West Virginia is another key moderate who has demanded any reconciliation bill be fully paid for. It is unclear whether Senate progressives will balk at the new figure and push for a higher price tag.
All 50 Senate Democrats must stick together for a reconciliation package to clear the upper chamber in a simple majority vote. Embarking on the process allows them to circumvent Senate Republicans who are staunchly opposed to its measures.
Democrats are seeking to stuff many new social initiatives in the reconciliation plan, including a national paid-leave program, affordable childcare, prescription-drug reform, and another extension of monthly cash payments for parents. They also want robust spending on green-energy initiatives to combat the climate crisis. Sinema's spike makes cuts to the package likely.
[RUDAW.NET] The United States Treasury Department on Wednesday sanctioned a Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian militia group accused of assassinating Kurdish female politician Hevrin Khalaf in 2019. The head of her party said the sanctions are a step towards bringing her killers to justice.
The Ahrar al-Sharqiya militia "has committed numerous crimes against civilians, particularly Syrian Kurds, including unlawful killings, abductions, torture, and seizures of private property. The group has also incorporated former Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) members into its ranks. These horrific acts compound the suffering of a population that has repeatedly endured mass displacement," read a Treasury statement.
Two of the militia’s leaders were also sanctioned for "abuses against civilians."
The militia is accused of assassinating Khalaf, who was the secretary general of the Future Syria Party, in October 2019 during The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... ’s military offensive against the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in northern Syria.
The Treasury said the militia has "a record of human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... abuse that includes the unlawful killing of Hevrin Khalaf."
The president of Khalaf’s party, Ibrahim al-Qaftan, told Rudaw English they welcome the sanctions, but wish they had gone further.
"Definitely, this decision is seen as a positive move by the members of the Future Syria Party, as well as the international community. It is a gateway to chase these killers," he said. But he would like to see the US also sanction Ahrar al-Sharqiya’s supporters, "namely the Ottoman Turkish government."
"We have always called on the international community and human rights organizations to prosecute these killers — who are led by Ottoman Turkish defense minister [Hulusi Akar], Ottoman Turkish President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan, and the [former] head of the Syrian coalition Nasr Hariri," Qaftan said.
He claimed that Erdogan had met with the snuffies days before Khalaf was killed.
Khalaf, who was known for her leadership on women’s rights and uniting various Syrian groups, was brutally killed on the road between Qamishli and Manbij. According to an autopsy report, she was dragged by her hair, causing her scalp to tear, and had her leg broken before she was shot multiple times.
Her murder occurred during Turkey’s invasion of areas of northern Rojava, Sari Kani (Ras al-Ain) and Gire Spi (Tal Abyad), in 2019. The military offensive forced the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people and led to scores of human rights abuses.
The new US sanctions also include individuals and entities affiliated to the regime, such as its intelligence and prisons.

[Yahoo] TEHRAN, Iran; Iran recorded over 34,900 new coronavirus infections on Tuesday, setting the nation's single-day record for cases as vaccinations lag, public complacency deepens and the country's outbreak spirals further out of control.
The previous record of 31,814 infections had been set only a day earlier, providing a sense of how quickly Iran's latest surge, fueled by the contagious delta variant, is mounting. Health authorities recorded 357 COVID-19 fatalities on Tuesday, bringing the total death toll to 89k+; the highest in the Middle East. Up again today 7-24 to 34,951 new infections-- probably an underestime

[NYPOST] A New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... news hound deleted a tweet that called supporters of former President Trump "enemies of the state," following a viral blowback online.
"Today’s #January6SelectCommittiee underscores the America’s current essential natsec dilemma: Work to combat legitimate national security threats now entails calling a current politician’s supporters enemies of the state," Katie Benner posted Tuesday morning, according to a screenshot shared by Fox News.
"As Americans, we believe that state power should not be used to work against a political figure or a political party. But what happens if a politician seems to threaten the state? If the politician continues to do so out of office and his entire party supports that threat?," the thread reportedly continued.
The DOJ scribe then suggested that since Congress left the investigation into the Republican’s alleged collusion with Russia and two impeachments "unresolved," politicians could not be trusted to probe the deadly riot at the Capitol.
"That leaves it up to voters, making even more essential free, fair access to the polls," Benner wrote.
About eight hours later, the tweet and its thread were deleted and referenced by a post by Benner that read: "I deleted unclearly worded tweets regarding the Jan 6. committee hearing."
Benner did not further clarify why she deleted the tweet, or if she did so at the newspaper’s demand.
Her comments were slammed by critics, including prominent journalists and politicians.
"That’s the best summary of the Biden Admin’s domestic national security strategy I’ve ever read," Republican Indiana Rep. Jim Banks tweeted.
"This is a news hound — not an op-ed writer — saying this," journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote.
"The fixation on 1/6 is about exactly this: classifying Trump supporters as Enemies of the State for political gain & Security State power."

The Last Refuge has a much darker take:
Katie Benner (pictured left) used to write freelance for the Beijing Review, China’s only National news magazine in English, published by the Chinese Communist Party-owned China International Publishing Group.
Benner joined the New York Times in 2015 after her initial work at the communist propaganda outlet. The CCP-controlled Beijing Review was designated by the U.S. State Department in 2020 as a “foreign mission” of China. So Ms. Benner was an operative, an embed, of the Chinese Communist Party propaganda machine.
Departing Beijing and landing in San Francisco (fall of 2014), Katie Benner embedded into MSM via Bloomberg as a technology reporter. Then, she jumped over to the New York Times (June 2015), again focusing on the Tech sector…. and then for some unknown reason, the tech expertise was dropped, and she took on a new role reporting on U.S. Department of Justice issues.
SUMMARY – Ms. Benner triggered her CCP tradecraft motivation a little too openly on Twitter and did not clear the blast zone.
[ToloNews] Pakistain reopened southwestern the Chaman-Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province that is currently held by the Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... , Pak customs officials said, as quoted by Rooters.
The Pak government has allowed over 100 trucks carrying goods to cross into Afghanistan, the report said.
The crossing has remained closed by Pakistain since fierce fighting for control of the Spin Boldak district erupted between Afghan government and the Taliban earlier this month.
"Pakistain has opened its border with Afghanistan at Chaman today and resumed Afghan Transit Trade which was suspended since the last one month," Arif Kakar, a bigwig of the Chaman pass said as quoted by Rooters.
He said it would remain open six days a week.
The Afghan government has not yet commented on the move.
The Finance Ministry on Monday said the Afghan government has lost 2.7 billion Afs (over $33 million) in customs revenue over the last four weeks as key border towns have fallen to the Taliban during this period.
Over the past month, the government has lost control of key border towns including Islam Qala in Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... , Abu Nasr Farahi in Farah, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Ai Khanum in Takhar, Dand Patan in Paktia and Shirkhan in Kunduz province.
The Finance Ministry said that the government has no control over seven customs departments in border towns.
The Islam Qala customs area is one of the biggest trade gateways between Afghanistan and Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate JewsZionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... and has been under Taliban control for the last 20 days.
Rafi Tabe, a front man for the Ministry of Finance, said the collections from Jawza (May 22 to June 22, 2021) was 7.3 billion (at least $91 million) but this was reduced to 4.6 billion Afs ($57 million) in Saratan (June 23 to July 23).
"The customs revenue is dependent on trading. It will have a negative impact on revenue if there are issues in trading," he said.
Private sector representatives said the issues around the border towns have affected traders’ willingness to import goods to the country through these gateways.
Investors suggested that the government should take control of income-generating border towns to prevent further harm to importers.
[BBC] The company that made a rifle used in one of the worst school shootings in the US has offered $33m (£24m) to several victims' families.
The proposed settlement for the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre from Remington, America's oldest gun-maker, came as part of a bankruptcy hearing for the company.
It also comes in response to a lawsuit brought by families of nine of the 26 victims.
Each family would receive some $3.66m.
It is subject to the approval of the Alabama judge overseeing Remington's bankruptcy case.
It falls far short of what the families sought. In February, they argued in court that wrongful death settlements could total $225m, with total punitive claims possibly exceeding $1bn.
A lawyer for the families said they would "consider their next steps" regarding the offer.
"Since this case was filed in 2014, the families' focus has been on preventing the next Sandy Hook," lawyer Josh Koskoff said in a statement.
"An important part of that goal has been showing banks and insurers that companies that sell assault weapons to civilians are fraught with financial risk."
Remington, best known for its rifles and shotguns, was founded in 1816.
After it emerged that a Remington semi-automatic rifle was used in the Sandy Hook killings, victims' family members filed a lawsuit against the gun-maker alleging that the military-style weapon should never have been sold to a civilian.
The case has seen many twists and turns. Remington claimed it is protected by a 2005 law that prevents gun-makers from being found liable if their products are used in crimes.
In 2019, the Supreme Court allowed the case against Remington to proceed.
The school shooting in Connecticut shocked the US, a nation already familiar with gun crimes in schools.
The perpetrator killed 20 pupils and six teachers. He had earlier shot his mother dead. As police closed in on the school, he killed himself.
Despite the deaths of young children aged six and seven, no new national gun control laws were passed in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting.

The general point of a legal settlement is one side pays the other to shut up and go away. Hopefully the people getting paid here are agreeing to stop appearing in gun control propaganda.

Totally dumb move. By paying they tacitly admit some responsibility. Which will open the floodgates of lawsuits looking for a payout using this as precedent. And not just Remington, but all gun-related industries . Who are your lawyers working for, Big Green.?

This will end up destroying the private arms sales industry as the door to liability is now pried open as precedent. Why make a product that has eternal liability blowback?

The coasties detained two Ottoman Turkish nationals sailing the boat and escorted migrants colonists to a deportation center in the western Ottoman Turkish town of Ayvacik, the official also said.
In recent weeks, Turkey has faced a fresh influx of Afghan migrants colonists crossing from its southeastern border with Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol... amid rising violence in Afghanistan.
Ottoman Turkish authorities captured some 1,500 migrants colonists last week.
On July 11 at least 12 migrants colonists were killed--including Afghans, Paks and Bangladeshis--and 26 others were maimed in a bus crash in eastern Turkey in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Turkey is a key transit point for migrants colonists aiming to cross into Europe.
Moslem colonists Migrants, mostly from Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistain, regularly cross the Iranian border into Turkey on foot before being ferried west to cities such as Istanbul and Ankara, according to the report.

[KhaamaPress] A local comedian-Khasha- was taken from his home to a desert, tied, and was then rubbed out by the Taliban ...Arabic for students... button men in Dand district of Kandahar province last week.
A video clip showing him tied and surrounded by two seated Taliban fighters in the auto before his death went viral on social media and prompted anger among Afghan people, officials, politicians, singers, and actors.
In the video clip, Kasha’s hands are tied back, and is apparently being taken to an unknown desert in the Dand district. Khasha as per his nature, cracks a joke addressing the video shooter and is then slapped on his face by the button men sitting next to him holding a gun.
People angrily reacted to the video clip and called it a slap on the face of all Afghan people.
First vice-president Amrullah Saleh said that the arbitrary killing of a comedian implies that the Taliban has no rule, no court, and no Sharia-Islamic teaching.
Second vice-president Sarwar Danish has called it a slap on the face of the entire Afghan nation and added that the nation will take Dire Revenge.
The former head of Afghan spy agency (NDS) Rahmatullah Nabil has recalled Anas Haqqani-key member of the Taliban- detained by NDS. He said Haqani’s handcuffs were untied when his mother wanted to visit him but said that the Taliban brutally killed Khasha.
Many other politicians and singers expressed deep concern over the death of Khasha and called it a tragedy for the entire Afghan nation.
