[Breitbart] Thirty-three members of Congress are listed on the “congressional advisory board” of an organization that is partnered with a Chinese Communist Party-affiliated (CCP) think tank, according to a Washington Examiner report.
The Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI) is a New York-based organization that focuses on international diplomacy and humanitarian work. Its website boasts 33 members of Congress as members of their “congressional advisory board.”
The list includes seven House Republicans and 26 Democrats. The congressional advisory board “informally advises on programming and CAB [Change Advisory Board] members are active in HDI’s domestic and international activities,” according to its website.
Since 2017, HDI has had a partnership with the Taihe Institute, a Beijing-based think tank that employs more than a dozen members of the CCP. HDI worked with Taihe Institute on their first annual Taihe Civilizations Forum held in August 2017. HDI’s CEO was present for all of Taihe Institute’s forums, except the one held in 2021.
At least our moronic elite's ChiCom masters have a sense of humor.
"When I use a word,' Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, 'it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.' 'The question is,' said Alice, 'whether you can make words mean so many different things.' 'The question is,' said Humpty Dumpty, 'which is to be master — that's all."

"If [danger shall] ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."

[Field & Stream] Headlined by a collection of weapons owned by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Rock Island Auction Company’s December Premier Auction took in a total of $25 million in sales, making it the second-highest grossing gun auction ever. The first-, third-, and fourth-highest also happened to be RIAC events, all taking place since last December, including last May’s Sale of the Century, which cleared $30 million. Safe to say, the company is on roll. In 2021, RIAC realized an astounding $121 million in sales, also a record.
The recent auction opened on December 2nd with a Preview Day, showcasing 2,200 historic, collectible, and fine working guns. The auction itself began on December 3rd and concluded on the 5th, surpassing December 2020’s record haul of $22 million. The top-5 selling lots alone went for more than 5 million. Here they are, including ties.
[FoxBusiness] Consumer prices surged at the fastest pace in nearly four decades in November.
President Biden will hold a "convening" Wednesday at which members of his economic team and business leaders will cite a variety of positive indicators about the economy, even as inflation roars and supply chain problems continue.
Problems with the economy likely will factor into the 2022 midterm elections and Biden's own 2024 reelection campaign — if he runs — should inflation and shortages of goods and labor persist.
Among those expected to attend: Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg; National Economic Council Director Brian Deese; Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack; port envoy John Porcari; FedEx CEO Fred Smith; Yellow Corp. CEO Darren Hawkins; and Christopher Connor, CEO of the American Association of Port Authorities.
The Biden administration released a "fact sheet" Wednesday that will apparently serve as a template for the meeting, touting what it called the strongest economic growth of any president in his first year in a half-century, and outlining the "aggressive action to lower the price of goods and gasoline for Americans."
In the document, the White House struck an optimistic tone on gas prices, supply chain issues, and inflation – factors that have caused him polling issues and subjected him to intense Republican criticism.
"Since Day 1, President Biden has been laser-focused on reopening the economy and has taken aggressive action to lower the price of goods and gasoline for Americans," the fact sheet says. "The President’s Supply Chain Disruptions Task Force has made significant progress to alleviate bottlenecks that are rooted in the global pandemic."

What about bottlenecks rooted in Biden's incompetence?

Coke, Pepsi, Sunbelt, Red Bull all indicate sever problems next year in supplying products. Those ships offshore are insured. So figure write offs and such. Salvage products shipped to Latin America and sold at whatever price they can get. Americans will pay thru the nose on products that do make it to market. This is a rigged game.

Activist Facts, a project of the Center for Organizational Research and Education, provides the public and media with in-depth profiles of think tanks, activist groups, and foundations, along with information about the sources of their funding.
Some of these organizations provide a responsible public service. But some, despite their innocent-sounding names, are financial Goliaths that use junk science, intimidation tactics, and even threats of violence to push their radical agendas. We’ve analyzed over 500,000 pages of IRS records to bring you a comprehensive snapshot of where their money comes from, tracking more than $800 million to date.

Speaking of "junk science" serving to "push agendas," now even the World Health Org's leader is (perhaps inadvertently) admitting the jig's up, and calling BS on Booster Madness:
BLUF:
[Common Dreams] When he decided which generals and admirals to fire and whom to hire in their place, Eisenhower didn't have to worry about identity politics. Top commanders were of a single skin tone in 1950s America. Today, however, any chief executive who ignores identity-related issues does so at their peril, laying themselves open to the charge of bigotry.
Which brings us to the case of retired four-star general Lloyd Austin, former Iraq War and CENTCOM commander. As a freshly minted civilian, Austin presides as the first Black defense secretary, a notable distinction given that senior Pentagon officials have tended to be white or male (and usually both). And while, by all reports, General Austin is an upright citizen and decent human being, it's become increasingly clear that he lacks qualities the nation needs when critically examining this country's less-than-awesome military performance, which should be the order of the day. Whatever suit he may wear to the office, he remains a general—and that is a problem.
Austin also lacks imagination, drive, and charisma. Nor is he a creative thinker. Rather than an agent of change, he's a cheerleader for the status quo—or perhaps more accurately, for a status quo defined by a Pentagon budget that never stops rising.

Equipment and manpower issues aside -- and they are substantial -- another question is who our Churchill would be in a war of any magnitude and duration. Maybe one of our younger combat veterans would step up, but on the national stage the only instinctive fighter I see is DJT. The current administration has appeasement bred into its bones.

We haven't had leaders with the will to win wars for over 30 years now.
Since the Cold War's end their ethos has been defined by warm-fuzzy BS goals like "nation-building", "responsibility to protect," "girls' education," and sundry other cookie-pusher, 3 cups of tea nonsense

another question is who our Churchill would be in a war of any magnitude and duration.
Have you seen Darkest Hour - the re-imagining of Winston Churchill as a drunken slur cribbing real thinkers while the women around him attempt to keep him upright, and a re-visit to the qualities of Nevile Chamberlain?
Its what the people who cheer and support Lloyd Austin think, and are trying to get the kids to believe. What we would get an angry tranny who will command the palace eunuchs and take the loss of face out on US Citizens, while finding and securing their niche in a bio-medical tyranny, occasionally deploying to protect favored overseas money assets.
Bet the thing is everyone including Austin himself knows he is a placeholder, and that is why he is so willing to be a mouth, put on a ridiculous display face protection, a giant sprocket, and march his 300 pounds ass in front of the smallest white Marines on the roster.
Then there's that fucking wrecking ball Milly Cyrus, who is well know to be able to wax Alexander's choice of foods over properly set dishware but was caught off guard when leaving Afghanistan totally ass backwards, but made sure we got a photo of the last general on scene leaving nobody behind...well, no Afghans at least, just a bunch of allies and citizens and equipment and pallets of cash and one last drone strike and what was left of our reputation.
[ToloNews] A senior military official of the former government was detained by the Islamic Emirate, his family claimed on Tuesday.
Adam Khan Matin served as a deputy commander of the 2017 Pamir Corps in northern Kunduz province under the previous government. According to his relatives, the Islamic Emirate forces broke into Matin’s home on Friday in PD 12 of Kabul.
According to Matin’s relatives, he was taken to an unknown location.
"They came here and said, 'we have information that you have vehicles and weapons with you.' After they received the (weapons and vehicle), they gave us a letter. They came again and took us to the police district and said that the letter was not stamped" said Omid Matin, the son of the former military officer.
The family expressed frustration over the arrest of Matin and said that it was not in line with the general amnesty announced by the Islamic Emirate.
"Since they announced the general amnesty they should not detain people and they should let the people live a calm life," said Ziba, Matin’s wife.
"It is in against the pledge of general amnesty. Why do they arrest people without any reason?" asked Ghulam Dastagir, a relative of Matin.
The Islamic Emirate said that an investigation is underway.
"Whoever violates the general amnesty, they will be found and punished," said Aqel Ozam.
Matin’s arrest comes amid other allegations that the Islamic Emirate is detaining former military officials.

"The Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... leadership’s promised amnesty has not stopped local commanders from summarily executing or disappearing former Afghan security force members," said Patricia Gossman, associate Asia director of the Human Rights Watch. "The burden is on the Taliban to prevent further killings, hold those responsible to account, and compensate the victims’ families."
[Defense One] Within weeks, scientists at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research expect to announce that they have developed a vaccine that is effective against COVID-19 and all its variants, even Omicron, as well as from previous SARS-origin viruses that have killed millions of people worldwide.
The achievement is the result of almost two years of work on the virus. The Army lab received its first DNA sequencing of the COVID-19 virus in early 2020. Very early on, Walter Reed’s infectious diseases branch decided to focus on making a vaccine that would work against not just the existing strain but all of its potential variants as well.
Walter Reed’s Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle COVID-19 vaccine, or SpFN, completed animal trials earlier this year with positive results. Phase 1 of human trials, which tested the vaccine against Omicron and the other variants, wrapped up this month, again with positive results that are undergoing final review, Dr. Kayvon Modjarrad, director of Walter Reed’s infectious diseases branch, said in an exclusive interview with Defense One.
Unlike existing vaccines, Walter Reed’s SpFN uses a soccer ball-shaped protein with 24 faces for its vaccine, which allows scientists to attach the spikes of multiple coronavirus strains on different faces of the protein.

It was not immediately clear why the U.S. government announced the potential reward only now. [IsraelTimes] Blogger, his lawyer and fellow blogger Mohammed ’Oxygen’ Ibrahim all sent to prison; Washington says freedom of expression should be secure without fear of criminal penalties.
Egypt on Monday sentenced Alaa Abdel Fattah, a leading figure in the 2011 revolution, to five years in jail, with two others receiving four years, his sister and a judicial source said.
A computer programmer, blogger and high-profile activist who mobilized youths in the uprising that unseated autocrat Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... , Abdel Fattah had been in pre-trial detention since September 2019.
Abdel Fattah, his lawyer Mohammed al-Baqer and blogger Mohammed "Oxygen" Ibrahim were convicted of "broadcasting false news" in their trial in Cairo.
Washington, which has already frozen 10 percent of its aid to Egypt over repeated rights violations, said it was "disappointed" by the sentence.
"Journalists, human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. defenders, and others seeking to peacefully exercise their freedom of expression should be able to do so without facing criminal penalties, intimidation, harassment, or any other form of reprisal," said US State Department front man Ned Price.
The Committee to Protect Journalists decried Monday’s ruling as "unacceptable."
The verdict "demonstrates the lengths to which authorities are willing to go to punish these journalists for their work," said Sherif Mansour, CPJ’s Middle East and North Africa Coordinator.
CPJ considers bloggers as engaging in journalism.
"Both journalists have already spent several years in prison on bogus charges, and authorities must release them immediately and unconditionally," Mansour added.
BEHIND BARS AGAIN
Pre-trial detention can last two years under Egyptian law, but in practice, detainees are often kept waiting behind bars longer.
Abdel Fattah was arrested in the wake of rare night-time protests prompted by an exiled construction contractor calling for the removal of Sissi on claims of corruption.
Baqer and Ibrahim were also detained in a massive crackdown.
Abdel Fattah has spent most of the past decade in jail at Tora, one of the country’s most notorious prisons, after previous convictions.
His mother, mathematics professor Laila Soueif, wrote in a New York Times
... which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... opinion piece published on Saturday that "the outside world, once so inspired by the Egyptian revolutionaries, is looking away.
"His crime is that, like millions of young people in Egypt and far beyond, he believed another world was possible. And he dared to try to make it happen."
Prolific writer Abdel Fattah’s critically acclaimed essay collection "You Have Not Yet Been Defeated" was published in October.
"At its fundamental core, his writing is attached to justice," Soueif told AFP in October when the book was released.
Rights groups say Egypt is holding some 60,000 political prisoners, many facing brutal conditions and overcrowded cells.
In a 2019 interview with the show 60 Minutes on US broadcaster CBS, Sissi said there were no political prisoners in Egypt.
The former army chief became president in 2014 after leading the military ouster of Islamist president Mohammed Morsi a year earlier.
He has since overseen a sweeping crackdown on dissent. Those incarcerated Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! for criticizing the political status quo have included academics, journalists, lawyers, activists, comedians, Islamists, presidential candidates and former MPs.

We're attacking citizen journalists too, what's wrong with that? They're untrustworthy and fake news. Unlike our legitimate credentialed mainstream media, which would never lie. Especially about serious matters like war. With Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia...they've got the real picture of what's going on, unlike those untrustworthy bloggers.

September 16, 2014: "Qutb Al-Arabi Congratulates Alaa Abdel-Fattah; Demands Freedom for All Political Detainees. Journalist and Muslim Brotherhood Leader Qutb Al-Arabi hails the release of political activists, including Alaa Abdel-Fattah, from junta jails, while 40,000 more remain behind bars." Now it is 60,000 behind bars, and by January it should be a reported 80,000 by the always dependable IsraelTimes.
[IsraelTimes] From 2014 to 2020, UN agencies spent close to $4.5 billion in Gazoo, including $600 million in 2020 alone.
The international community has sent billions of dollars in aid to the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip in recent years to provide relief to the more than 2 million Paleostinians living in the isolated, Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,-ruled territory.
The aid is intended to ease the burden on civilians of the Egyptian and Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza when Hamas seized power of the Strip in 2007. Israel closely supervises aid to try to ensure it bypasses Hamas. But the Hamas-run government benefits from foreign countries footing the bill for schools, hospitals and infrastructure, allowing it to conserve its own resources, including the taxes and customs it collects.
Here’s a look at the main forms of international aid to Gaza:
— From 2014-2020, UN agencies spent nearly $4.5 billion in Gaza, including $600 million in 2020 alone. More than 80% of that funding is channeled through the UN agency for Paleostinian refugees, who make up three-fourths of Gaza’s population. Some 280,000 children in Gaza attend schools run by UNRWA, which also provides health services and food aid.
— Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... has provided $1.3 billion in aid to Gaza since 2012 for construction, health services and agriculture. That includes $360 million pledged in January for 2021 and another $500 million pledged for reconstruction after the war in May. Qatar’s aid also goes to needy families and to help pay Hamas government salaries.
— The Paleostinian Authority says it will spend $1.7 billion on Gaza this year, mainly on salaries for tens of thousands of civil servants who stopped working when Hamas took over in 2007.
— Egypt pledged $500 million in aid after the May war, but it’s unclear how much has materialized. It sent construction crews to clear rubble over the summer.
— Germany and other European countries will spend nearly 70 million euros ($80 million) on water projects in Gaza this year, in addition to their contributions to UNRWA.
— The US has spent at least $5.5 million in Gaza this year on cash assistance and health care, in addition to contributing $90 million to UNRWA operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
— Israel is granting work permits to 10,000 Gazooks who undergo security vetting, providing a crucial source of income for families with no known connection to Hamas.

As for his criticism, all he need do is check the websites or do a google search using key words — those donating to the Gaza Strip trumpet their pledges as a demonstration of virtue. Fighting between elements of #Somalia's pro-government forces killed at least seven people and injured 50 in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, a doctor at a hospital that treated the casualties tells Reuters.https://t.co/ZiDd7clFia
Fighting between elements of Somali pro-government forces killed at least seven people and injured 50 in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland ...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion... on Tuesday, a doctor at a hospital that treated the casualties told Rooters.
It was the first reported shootout between forces loyal to Puntland's president and the US-trained Puntland Security Forces (PSF), which both support Somali central government forces against al Qaeda-linked al-Shabaab ...... an Islamic infestation centering on Somalia attempting to metastasize into Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and similar places, all of which have enough problems without them... bad boys.
"At least seven people including (forces) from both sides and civilians died in the fighting," said Mohammed Ahmed, a doctor at the main hospital in the regional capital Bosaso. Both combatants and civilians were among the injured, Ahmed said.
A Puntland forces commander who declined to be named because he was not authorized to speak to the media confirmed the deaths, saying four were from his side, two were PSF fighters and the other a civilian.
Clashes between the two groups broke out early on Tuesday with each accusing the other of initiating the violence.
Fighting had stopped by late on Tuesday with the streets of Bosaso empty and businesses shuttered.
Tensions between the two have run high since last month when Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni fired PSF commander Mohamoud Osman Diyano.
...alternately spelt Mohamud Osman Diano, but not in our archives under either ...
Deni won elections in January 2019, defeating Asad Osman Diyano, the brother of the PSF commander.
The PSF chief refused to vacate his post and ordered his forces from some frontline positions against al-Shabaab.
"We are defending ourselves. We have fought for our country and we do not want to use our weapons against the misled forces," Diyano said of the festivities with the Puntland militia.
Fighting earlier this year between government troops and a formerly allied militia in the neighboring state of Galmudug ...a semiautonomous region in central Somalia, bordering Puntland on the north. Galmudug is not trying to obtain international recognition as a separate nation, but rather considers itself autonomous within the larger Somali federalism, for what that's worth... appeared to undermine the campaign against al-Shabaab, analysts have said. Last week, al-Shabaab captured towns there for the first time in a decade.
[An Nahar] Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... chief Jebran Bassil on Tuesday lashed out at Hizbullah ...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory... and the Amal Movement over the Constitutional Council’s failure to issue a ruling on an appeal filed by the FPM against the electoral law’s amendments."The Constitutional Council has did away with himself," Bassil said in a televised address.
"The Council was toppled and paralyzed today," he lamented, describing what happened as "a sign of the disintegration of the state."
"What happened undermines the National Pact and the President's jurisdiction as to Article 57, and it is an additional fall of the constitution which we are trying to preserve," Bassil said.
He added that what happened took place based on a "clear political decision by a system that is allied with each other during President Aoun’s term."
"It was led today by the Shiite duo in the Constitutional Council, which will have political consequences," Bassil went on to say.
Lamenting that the Constitutional Council "decided to remain silent over a host of issues, including the manipulation of deadlines and the addition of articles to a legislative text related to the powers of the justice and foreign ministers without a discussion nor a vote," Bassil decried the no-ruling as the result of a "new four-party alliance" in the face of the FPM.
He was referring to the 2005 parliamentary elections, when the FPM’s lists competed in some districts against candidates backed by Hizbullah, the Amal Movement, the Lebanese Forces A Christian political party founded by Bashir Gemayel, who was then bumped off when he was elected president of Leb... and the Progressive Socialist Party.
Bassil also revealed that he received a phone call and a proposal prior to the Constitutional Council’s decision.
"We were asked to accept voting in parliament in favor of the (formation of the) Higher Council (for the Trial of Presidents and Ministers), in return for the Constitutional Council accepting our appeal. I told them that they already know the answer and to stop these ploys. The bargain proposal was not accepted two months ago and it will not be accepted today," the FPM chief added.
"We are seeking a solution, not a bargain, and we tell the Shiite duo that there is no justification for the failure to hold Cabinet sessions. I also tell this to the premier, because it doesn’t seem that he is in a hurry regarding this," Bassil said.

[An Nahar] The Constitutional Council failed Tuesday to issue a ruling on the appeal filed by the Free Patriotic Movement Despite its name a Christian party allied with Hizbullah, neither free nor particularly patriotic... against the electoral law’s amendments, which means that the adjustments will go into effect and that no six new seats will be dedicated to expats.
Admitting that the no-ruling can be considered a "flop" for the Council, Judge Tannous Meshleb, the Council’s chief, said "the appeal would not have resolved Leb ...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... ’s crisis."
"The elections would have happened anyway," Meshleb added, noting that the Council "failed to secure the needed majority for all the points."
"We have failed to reach a unified stance," he said.
Responding to a news hound’s question about possible political interference in the Council’s work, Meshleb said: "No one has asked us to take a certain decision."
Meshleb also denied the presence of a "sectarian" rift in the Council, while noting that the no-ruling means that elections in the 16th district, dedicated to expats, will be postponed to 2026.

Of course, the US refusal to make any agreements with Russia will only strengthen the rapprochement between Russia and China and the further triumph of bloc politics in international affairs.
Exactly so. Think about the trade made by Clinton and Bush fils, and doubled down on by Bathhouse and Pres. Magoo:
- we got Russia to dissolve the Eastern Bloc (Warsaw Pact)
- we got Russia to create a new China-Russia bloc
So we used to play the China card against Russia.

The European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... has not done enough to ensure that its funding to the Paleostinian Authority does not support incitement to violence and human rights When they're defined by the state or an NGO they don't mean much... violations, a study published on Tuesday argued.
"Despite existing anti-terrorism regulations, the EU has not addressed funding by the Paleostinian Authority to families of convicted holy warriors as well as the persistent issue of incitement to hatred and widespread antisemitism in Paleostinian textbooks," wrote researchers Tommaso Virgili and Paul Stott, who previously authored a report on hidden Moslem Brüderbund networks in Europe.
The study was commissioned by B’nai Brith International, a Jewish non-profit that also advocates on behalf of Israel in the United States and abroad.
Bennett offers Israeli assistance to Kentucky amid devastating tornadoes
The report slammed the EU for failing to ensure accountability in the Paleostinian Authority education system. Paleostinian textbooks have long been assailed by critics as containing hate speech and incitement, including by a 2021 EU study.
Brussels is the PA’s largest single donor and helps pay the salaries of many of its civil servants, including those who design PA curricula. It is also the second-largest donor to the United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... Works and Reliefs Agency — which supports Paleostinian refugees — sending over $157 million in aid in 2021.
"For many years, the EU has been criticized for failing to align its practice with principles with regard to the Paleostinian Authority and Paleostinian nonprofits," B’nai Brith director Alan Schneider said during a webinar inaugurating the report.
The report also charged that the EU does not uphold its own values when it continues to fund the PA, given the PA’s practice of paying stipends to the families of those imprisoned or killed by Israeli forces. Critics call the practice "pay for slay," as the funds can also go to Paleostinians convicted of brutal acts of terror.
The EU for too long "turned a blind eye towards the practice of payments to the families of convicted terrorists, praised as deaders," said European parliamentarian David Lega during the report’s launch.
The researchers argued that Brussels should impose conditions on its aid to the PA and consider adopting legislation that bans aid as long as Ramallah continues paying out stipends to Paleostinian security prisoners and their families.
While Israeli officials have consistently condemned the prisoner stipends and alleged incitement in textbooks, the government has also sought to bolster the PA, seen as more moderate than its Islamist Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede, rivals, including by increasing international aid to its rapidly draining coffers.
As recently as November, Israel lobbied international donors in Oslo — including the European Union — to step up support for the Paleostinian Authority.
The report elided any mention of Ramallah’s policy of security coordination with Israel, in which Paleostinian Authority forces work with Israeli intelligence to crack down on Hamas and Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... holy warriors in the West Bank.
[GREATERKASHMIR] Vehicle-borne bandidosturbans fired at a joint team of police and CRPF at a joint checkpoint in Soura area of Srinagar on Tuesday evening with one of the fleeing bandidosturbans said to have been injured in the security forces' retaliatory fire, news agency KNO reported while quoting sources.
As per the report, a team of police led by SP Hazratbal along with CRPF men were checking vehicles at the checkpoint in Soura at the time of the attack.
"Militants fired at the joint party in which no police or CRPF man was injured. In retaliation, probably one bad boy received injury but escaped.
We are following the vehicle borne bad boys," an official said.

[An Nahar] The Ottoman Turkish lira was making significant gains Tuesday after the country's president announced new measures to safeguard deposits in the national currency against currency fluctuations. The lira hit an all-time low of 18.36 against the U.S. dollar Monday but rebounded to a high of 11.09 Tuesday morning. It was trading at 13.75 at 0820 GMT Tuesday.
The currency has been on a rollercoaster ride since the central bank began lowering interest rates in September and saw extreme volatility in the past weeks when the lira kept hitting record lows.
President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First ...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important... said Monday the government would cover losses incurred by lira deposit holders in cases where the lira's depreciation against foreign currencies exceeds the banks' interest rates.
"From now on, our citizens won't need to switch their deposits from Ottoman Turkish lira to foreign currency, fearing that the exchange rate will be higher," Erdogan said Monday.
The extraordinary measure is aimed at boosting confidence among Turks about their currency after many flocked to foreign currencies and gold to hold on to their savings amid massive fluctuations and soaring consumer prices.
The weakened lira was driving prices higher, making imports, fuel and everyday goods more expensive. Many people in the country of more than 84 million are struggling to buy food and other basic needs.
But critics say the measure is unsustainable and could cause more inflation.
The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... 's president is avowedly against high interest rates and believes they cause inflation, a thought that stands in contrast to established economic principles. He bases his theory on Islam.
Under his assumed influence, the central bank has lowered interest rates by five percentage points since September to 14 percent despite official inflation running at 21 percent.

[IsraelTimes] Experts say terror group derives as much as $30 million a month from taxes on fuel and tobacco entering via Rafah crossing, while international aid covers Gazoo’s basic needs.
Each month, hundreds of trucks heavy with fuel, cement and other goods cross a plowed no-man’s land between Egypt and the Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. Hamas was created in Gaza in 1988 as an arm of the international Muslim Brotherhood. And Qatar is a major funder of the Brotherhood and for years has helped Gaza survive. That being said, no right-minded individual would care to live there, and no Gaza immigrants are welcomed anywhere.

one reason for Israel's cooperation w Hamas is that Hamas keeps a lid on the other terrorist groups and probably provideds the IDF with intel on these groups

[An Nahar] Israel's former military intelligence chief says Israel was involved in the American Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani in January 2020. It is the first public acknowledgement of Israel's role in the operationSoleimani headed the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's elite Quds Force and helped orchestrate Iran's involvement with paramilitary groups abroad. He was killed in a U.S. dronezap at the Baghdad airport in January 2020, an incident that threatened to pull the countries into full-blown conflict.
A week after the airstrike, NBC News reported that Israeli intelligence helped confirm the details of Soleimani's flight from Damascus to Baghdad. Earlier this year, Yahoo News reported that Israel "had access to Soleimani's numbers" and gave that intelligence to the United States.
But Maj. Gen. Tamir Heyman, the now-retired general who headed military intelligence until October, appears to be the first official to confirm Israel's involvement.
Heyman's comments were published in the November issue of a Hebrew-language magazine closely affiliated with Israel's intelligence services. The interview was held in late September, a couple weeks before his retirement from the military. The authors wrote that Heyman opened the interview by talking about the American airstrike that killed Soleimani, but in which Israeli intelligence played a part.
"Assassinating Soleimani was an an achievement, since our main enemy, in my eyes, are the Iranians," Heyman told the magazine. He said there were "two significant and important liquidations during my term" as head of army intelligence.

[WashingtonExaminer] Police say 63-year-old man stole entire bridge
Someone "craned" for attention in stealing a bridge from a local park.
According to police in Akron, Ohio, that person is 63-year-old David Bramley, arrested Friday on charges of felony theft.
"Detectives discovered that Bramley, who formally worked in the Akron area, paid a local trucking company for a crane service. The crane was later used to place the bridge on and off a vehicle that transported it to the Medina County property," said the Akron Police Department in a press statement.
The bridge in question was 58 feet long, 10 feet wide, and 6 feet high. Local officials reported that the bridge had suddenly disappeared without notice in mid-December and asked for tips or information about the thieves.
Those tips allowed police to identify Bramley as a suspect. Upon investigating his property, police said they found the bridge partially disassembled. Bramley has not commented on whether he committed the crime.

...If I have my locations right (full disclosure - it's been 30 years since I spent any real time in Akron) this was near the south side of Downtown, and that's an industrial area with constant construction. It would have certainly been noticed by someone passing by, but it wouldn't have seemed terribly out of the ordinary.

[IsraelTimes] Body of alleged attacker pulled from burning, crashed vehicle after incident near settlement; Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, praises ’new act of resistance’.
A driver attempted to ram into Israeli soldiers near the northern West Bank settlement of Mevo Dotan on Tuesday night, the military said.
There were no serious injuries to Israelis in the incident in the northern West Bank, the Israel Defense Forces said. The driver, whose car went up in flames following an apparent crash after the ramming attempt, was killed.
Soldiers opened fire and "neutralized" the driver as he accelerated toward their guard post. The vehicle then crashed into a military jeep, causing both to catch on fire, the military said.
Two soldiers were lightly injured but did not need to go to a hospital for treatment, Army Radio reported.
An emergency services spokesperson for West Bank settlements said firefighters found the body of the alleged attacker inside one of the burning vehicles.
Paleostinian media identified the alleged rammer as Abd al-Aziz Hekmat Mousa, a 22-year-old resident of Marka, near Jenin.
Video from the scene showed firefighters hosing down two burning vehicles next to a concrete guard tower.
The Hamas terror group praised the alleged attack.
"A new act of resistance by mighty Jenin, whose revolutionary youth are responding to the crimes of the occupation," said Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasim, referring to the nearby Paleostinian city.
The terror group did not take responsibility for the suspected attack.
In March 2018, at the same military checkpoint, two soldiers were killed in a ramming attack.

"The attempted deal will remain in the minds of non-residents, who will hold accountable the domineering system that displaced them from their homeland and kept trying to exclude them until the last moment," the MP went on to say.
MP Imad Wakim, also of the LF bloc, for his part tweeted that "the will of Lebanese expats to take part in parliamentary elections in their (electoral) districts has triumphed."
They "will not be isolated from their homeland and they will hold you accountable," he added.
Former deputy PM Ghassan Hasbani also tweeted that "the Constitutional Council remained safe from political deals."
"The right of expats to vote from their places of residence has been consolidated. This is an additional positive step towards the parliamentary elections," he added.
A major political deal among several parties had been reached on Monday, but it failed to materialize due to the rejection of some parties, most notably Prime Minister Najib Miqati, media reports said.
According to reports, the deal had called for the Constitutional Council to accept the FPM’s appeal in return for preventing Judge Tarek Bitar from questioning ex-ministers, securing the resumption of Cabinet sessions and replacing the head of the Higher Judicial Council, the state prosecutor, the financial prosecutor and the head of judicial inspection.

Jesse Watters encouraged attendees at a conservative conference to rhetorically "ambush" the president’s chief medical adviser.
"That’s awful that he said that. And he’s going to go, very likely, unaccountable," Fauci told CNN of Watters’ remarks. "I mean, whatever network he’s on is not going to do anything for him. I mean, that’s crazy. The guy should be fired on the spot."
Speaking on Monday at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference, Watters encouraged attendees to rhetorically "ambush" Fauci with dubious questions about the National Institutes of Health funding "gain-of-function" research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

[MSN] Daily Covid cases in South Africa have fallen for the fourth day in a row as Omicron continues to fade in the variant's epicentre.
Data from the National Institute For Communicable Diseases (NICD) shows 15,424 South Africans tested positive in the last 24 hours, down by a third on the nearly 24,000 cases confirmed last Tuesday.
A fifth fewer people were tested for the first in the last 24 hours compared to the same period last week, but test positivity — the proportion of those tested who are infected — has been trending downwards for eight days.
But hospitalisations and deaths — which lag two to three weeks behind the pattern seen in case numbers due to the delay in an infected person becoming seriously unwell — have risen.
More than 630 people were hospitalised across the country, up only 5 per cent in a week but the highest daily number in the country's fourth wave.
The previous record was last Wednesday when 620 people were hospitalised. Meanwhile 35 deaths were recorded, a 46 per cent uptick on last Tuesday.
The falling case numbers come despite only 25 per cent of South Africans being double-jabbed and boosters not being dished out in the country.

At least South Africa still has some intelligent researchers who understand evolutionary biology and its connection to epidemiology:
"It was a short wave ... and the good news is that it was not very severe in terms of hospitalizations and deaths,” Marta Nunes, senior researcher at the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Analytics department of the University of Witwatersrand, told The Associated Press.
Duh:
It is “not unexpected in epidemiology that a very steep increase, like what we saw in November, is followed by a steep decrease."

[Tolo] What would we do without HRW "experts"? I'm sure it's Trump's fault
The Human Rights Watch cited 2021 as an unfortunate year for women "mostly because of Afghanistan".
The associate director of the women’s rights division at Human Rights Watch, Heather Barr, said that the "Taliban" rolled back Afghan women's access to their rights.
"So, it is the end of the year, and we are looking back on what kind of the year 2021 has been for women’s rights around the world, and unfortunately, it hasn’t been a good year, I mean that is mostly because of Afghanistan," she told TOLOnews on Tuesday. "I think that what we saw after August fifteenth, is that as the Taliban rolled backed the right to education, the right to employment, the right to access health care, freedom of movement, freedom of speech, freedom of association and the right to live free from violence for women and girls across Afghanistan."
A prominent Afghan women rights activist, Mahbouba Seraj, voiced concerns over the current status of Afghan women.
"When the right of education is taken from girls and women, and they are incapable of doing their activities, and all kind of access is restricted for women, this is the worst situation for women in the country," she said.
According to her, the main reason for the current crisis in the country is due to women’s isolation from society, including governmental affairs. "I remained here (Afghanistan) to be the voice of women and to warn that no government can survive," Seraj said.
Barr also referred to the international community and said that it "didn’t do much" to protect Afghan women.
"I think that really illustrates for women around the world, how fragile our rights are and how easily they can be rolled back and how little resistance we’ll see from the governments," she said.
"The silence of the international community is one of the reasons that women are faced with the worst situations," said Madina Darwazi, a women rights activist.
But the Islamic Emirate said that it has been committed to women’s rights based on Islamic values.
"Many women are still working in several organizations and girls also going to schools in some provinces. We are committed to ensuring the rights of all citizens," said Bilal Karimi, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate.
This comes as the Islamic Emirate has been facing criticism inside and outside Afghanistan for imposing restrictions on women.

[Tolo] The owners of beauty salons in Kabul criticized the decision of the Islamic Emirate, and asked the government to not impose restrictions on their business.
The Kabul municipality in a new effort has taken steps to remove the photos of women on storefronts in Kabul city.
The spokesman of Kabul municipality, Nematullah Barakzai, said the government has ordered the municipality’s officials to remove all photos of women on the signboards of shops and business centers in Kabul.
"Based on the decision of the government, the photos that are against Islamic regulations will be collected or removed from billboards," said Barakzai.
Meanwhile, the owners of beauty salons in Kabul criticized the decision of the Islamic Emirate, and asked the government to not impose restrictions on their business.
Shayesta Saifi, a makeup artist, has worked in a beauty salon for seven years. Shayesta said she is financially assisting her 10-member family. "This is imposing a restriction on women’s work, there is a fear that they will lock our shop in the next days," she told TOLOnews.
"What does it benefit the government to remove photos of women?" said Parwana, a women’s rights activist.
This comes as international organizations have repeatedly called on the Islamic Emirate to not ignore the rights of women and to not marginalize women from society, but the Islamic Emirate government claims that it already respects women based on Islamic principles.

[JustTheNews] Chinese state media says the Taliban is pushing for China to mine in Afghanistan, but claims efforts are stalled because the United States is "aggravating the economic collapse."
The Taliban is pushing China to mine in Afghanistan, according to The Global Times, a Chinese state-controlled media outlet.
Afghanistan is home to an estimated $1 trillion to $3 trillion worth of rare earth metals. China is home to about two-thirds of rare earths, and the communist country already provides more than 85% of rare metals and minerals globally, according to the South China Morning Post (SCMP).
The Global Times touted the most recent development in an article Thursday titled "Chinese firm's copper mine project in Afghanistan hasn't started, despite Taliban's push."
Work on the copper mine has been reportedly stalled for years due to issues surrounding Afghanistan's security.
Taliban officials are hoping that work will resume quickly on the mine, which is expected to be the second-largest copper mine in the world.
The Global Times blamed the United States for the "severe challenges" facing the jihadist-controlled nation. Treason, Binden approved

Special Forces of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the Gushta district of eastern Nangarhar province destroyed the barbed wire erected by Pakistani forces on Durand Line.
The barbed wire was destroyed and brought to Afghanistan after Pakistani forces reportedly wanted to erect and widen the wire.
Nagarhar province’s provincial head of General Directorate of Intelligence (GDI) Doctor Bashir was leading the operation in the bordering district of Gushta.
A video clip from the scene shows that Doctor Bashir is addressing Pakistani forces and threatening them with harsh repercussions if they do so again.
"Next time if you look bad at Afghanistan, I will come and make this area (only hundreds of meters from Pakistan’s soil) and will make it my frontline to wage war with you. I swear by Allah that waging war with you makes me happier than waging war with Jewish." Says Doctor Bashir.
Whoa, buddy — no need to go all the way to Jewish! There are women and children reading this thing, you know.
Unconfirmed reports say that Pakistani forces launched artilleries on Kunar province on Monday night after the incident in the Gushta district of Nangarhar province.
Pakistan has nearly completed its barbed wire on the entire Duran Line that stretches approximately 2,400 KM between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The defendant was also charged with receiving military-type training from ISIS, the DOJ said.
Court documents claim Ramic, 31, of Bowling Green, Kentucky and two co-conspirators each left the United States for Istanbul, The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor... in order to support the Islamic State in 2014.
All three then purchased tickets to fly to the Ottoman Turkish city of Gaziantep near the border with Syria. From there, it is alleged they crossed the border to join the Islamic State.
After joining, Ramic allegedly attended an Islamic State training camp where he received weapons and physical training and fired an AK-47, the DOJ said.
The FBI ...Formerly one of the world's premier criminal investigation organizations, something for a nation to be proud of. Now it's a political arm of the Deep State oligarchy that is willing to trump up charges, suppress evidence, or take out insurance policies come election time... obtained photos of Ramic in Islamic State territory which depict him wearing camouflage clothing and standing in front of a pickup truck outfitted with an anti-aircraft gun and the Islamic State flag, the Justice Department added.
After joining the krazed killer group, Ramic and his co-conspirators remained in contact with each other and discussed, among other things, Ramic's presence in Raqqa, Syria, and his use of an anti-aircraft weapon to shoot at planes, according to the DOJ.
It was also reported one of the co-conspirators had twice emailed Western Kentucky University to say Ramic had traveled to Syria and joined the Islamic State group and now wanted its fighters to 'conquer' the US.

The clocks must be striking thirteen because I actually agree with this Jesuit globalist cult pope. Let's start with our own military, which can't win against goat herders.

We spend more on education than nearly any other country. Once we were among the top in placements in education scores and have now sunk to the twenties. Even between states, the there is no correlation between expenditures and scores on common tests, so much so the 'education bureaucracy' is dropping the tests in the name of 'equity'.

You know what? Tax all church properties the same as any other business and watch all the money roll in. You could really invest in education then! Nationalize and unionize the clergy! I am really on a roll now!

How much gold stuff does the Vatican contain? Sell it and invest in education. The Catholic church is worth between 10 and 15 billion dollars. Sell off un-needed assets and invest it in education. Do the same with all the mega- churches.

Well, we've already traded an Aircraft Carrier for a bag of pronouns, so there's that.
[Alternatio] Since November 2020, a civil war has been going on in Ethiopia, in which the Prime Minister of the country, Nobel Peace Prize laureate Abiy Ahmed Ali, began a full-scale military campaign against the Popular Front for the Liberation of the Tigray (or, as we now like to write, "Tigraya"),
(We do? Why?)
which controls the eponymous region. The reason for the conflict was the fact that the federal center refused to recognize local elections and allocate money to the Tigray budget. In response to this, the regional authorities stopped paying taxes to the state treasury and recalled their deputies from parliament.

This is the most aggressive I have seen Putin. It is difficult to see this as anything but another & the loudest declaration of war on Ukraine. The West needs to raise its guard substantially. Putin behaves like a dangerous desperado with whom talks are meaningless. https://t.co/grnkZnKMJz
[An Nahar] A group of candidates in war-torn Libya's presidential election said Monday that they expect the polls to be delayed, despite the lack of an official announcement to that effect.Scheduled for Friday, the vote is meant to cap a United Nations ...the Oyster Bay money pit... -led grinding of the peace processor after a decade of conflict.
But it has been beset by deep divisions over its legal basis, who may stand and court challenges against prominent candidates.
On Monday, 17 hopefuls issued a joint statement in which they implicitly acknowledged that a delay was inevitable.
The group urged the electoral commission to "reveal the reasons why there will be no election on the date set", and called on it to "publish a final list of candidates".
Multiple observers have predicted a delay, but just days ahead of the vote, there has been no official announcement.
Libya, torn apart by a decade of conflict since its 2011 revolution, has seen a year of relative calm since a landmark October 2020 ceasefire, and the UN has been pushing for elections as part of a multi-pronged peace effort.
But presidential bids by several divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... figures, a controversial electoral law and lack of agreement over the powers of the next government have posed a series of obstacles.
The candidacies of eastern military chief Khalifa Haftar ...Self-proclaimed Field Marshal, served in the Libyan army under Muammar Qadaffy, and took part in the coup that brought Qadaffy to power in 1969. He became a prisoner of war in Chad in 1987. While held prisoner, he and his fellow officers formed a group hoping to overthrow Qadaffy, so it's kind of hard to describe him as a Qadaffy holdover. He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all. Actually, he is, but slowly... and Seif al-Islam Qadaffy, son of slain dictator Muammar Qadaffy ...a reminder that a single man with an idea can change an entire nation, usually for the worse... -- both accused of war crimes -- have sparked particular opposition from rival camps.
Meanwhile, ...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?
Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.
If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!... in a country controlled by dozens of gangs including thousands of imported muscle, analysts warn that the ceasefire is increasingly fragile.

[An Nahar] More than 160 migrants colonists drowned in two separate shipwrecks off Libya over past week, a United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... migration official said Tuesday. The fatalities were the latest disasters in the Mediterranean Sea involving migrants colonists seeking a better life in Europe.Safa Msehli, a spokeswoman for the International Organization for Migration, said at least 102 migrants colonists were reported dead after their wooden boat capsized off Libya on Friday. At least eight others were rescued and returned to shore, she said.
The second shipwreck took place Saturday. The Libyan coasties retrieved at least 62 bodies of migrants colonists, Msehli said. The same day, the coasties intercepted a third wooden boat with at least 210 migrants colonists on board, she said.
The new deaths have brought the tally in the central Mediterranean route to around 1,500 migrants colonists drowned this year, Msehli said.
Recent months have seen a surge in crossings and attempted crossings from Libya as authorities accelerated their deadly crackdown on migrants colonists in the capital of Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... Around 31,500 migrants colonists were intercepted and returned to Libya in 2021, compared to nearly 11,900 migrants colonists the previous year, according to the IOM. Around 980 migrants colonists were dead or presumed dead in 2020, the U.N. agency said.
Libya has emerged as the dominant transit point for migrants colonists fleeing war and poverty in Africa and the Middle East. The oil-rich country plunged into chaos following a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It's headquartered in Belgium. That sez it all.... -backed uprising that toppled and killed longtime autocrat Muammar Qadaffy ...who single-handedly turned a moderately prosperous kingdom into a dictator's fantasyland and was then murdered by his indignant subjects 42 years later... in 2011.
Human traffickers have benefited from the chaos in the oil-rich nation and smuggled migrants colonists through the country's lengthy border with six nations. They pack desperate migrants colonists into ill-equipped rubber boats, then embark on risky voyages through the perilous Mediterranean Sea.

[GatewayPundit] Michael Fanone, the celebrity US Capitol Police Officer known for his hatred of President Trump and his supporters, was recently hired by CNN as a contributor.
Fanone was filmed beating Trump supporters that day according to several witnesses. He was made famous by the mainstream media for his absolute disdain for Trump and his supporters.
In August Capitol Hill police officer Michael Fanone was put under the microscope by Newsmax’s Greg Kelly and ‘American Greatness’ senior contributor Julie Kelly. In the segment Julie Kelly reveals some “interesting details” about the officer.
Fanone is a rich kid from the DC suburbs. The more he hates Trump – the more the media loves him.
[THEPOSTMILLENNIAL] Leftist activist Nandini Jammi, known for her deplatforming efforts against conservatives, argued that sex offender registries are too harsh for young sex offenders, a newly-unearthed blog post reveals.
In a write-up for the National Crime Prevention Council, where she interned, Nandini complained about the "Eternal Sentence for Juvenile Sex Offenders, "remarking that "Of course, juvenile sex offenders aren’t toddlers, and they generally know what they are doing is wrong. However, man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them... a number of things should be considered before we give them a de facto life sentence by listing them on the Internet along with violent mostly peaceful, knowing, and malicious adults."
While one might be inclined to assume that Nandini, like many others, opposes overly pernicious sex offender laws that criminalize consensual sex between two teenagers just one year removed, Nandini goes much further than that.
Citing a rare case involving a fourth grader, Nandini wrote: "Someone like Johnnie, however, (who was referred to by that pseudonym in a New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... article), may be branded for life. He’s a juvenile sex offender, but he did the crime when he was in fourth grade. That’s the question: would you give a now 14-year old the same "life sentence" that you give a grown man? And if the answer is yes, how would you draw the line between being a teen and being a responsible adult? Can we justify treating a juvenile sex offender as a minor and an adult simultaneously? Perhaps judges should be given discretion in each individual case."
Indeed, Nandini is referring to rapists and people who commit sexual assault.
Nandini argues in her blog that it would be better if we could simply prevent sexual assault in the first place instead of criminalizing offenders. What a concept! Were such a thing possible, laws needn’t exist.
[An Nahar] The corpse count from a crackdown on Sudanese protesters Sunday rose to two, medics said Tuesday, while a government ministry said two women were raped in the chaos. On Monday medics had reported a first shooting death in the previous day's street violence, while the health ministry reported 125 protesters injured, many by tear gas inhalation.
On Tuesday, the independent Sudan Doctors' Committee reported the additional death. It said Abdelmoneim Mohammed Ali, 28, was killed with "a bullet in the head" in Omdurman, Khartoum's twin city.
Security forces cracked down Sunday as hundreds of thousands marched, marking three years since the start of mass demonstrations that led to the ouster of veteran strongman Omar al-Bashir ...Former President-for-Life of Sudan He came to power in 1989 when he, as a brigadier in the Sudanese army, led a group of officers in a bloodless military coup that ousted the government of Prime Minister Sadiq al-Mahdi and eventually appointed himself head cheese. He fell out with his Islamic mentor, Hasan al-Turabi, tried to impose shariah on the Christian and animist south, resulting in its secessesion, and attempted to Arabize Darfur by unleashing the barbaric Janjaweed on it. Sudan's potential prosperity has been pissed away in warfare that has left as many as 400,000 people dead and 2.5 million displaced. Hee was overthrown by popular consent in 2019. Omar has been indicted for genocide by the International Criminal Court but nothing is expected to come of it... The protesters rallied against the northeast African country's military chief General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who led a coup on October 25.
Nationwide, at least 47 people have been killed in street festivities in the past two months, according to the Committee.
Two women demonstrators were raped in Sunday's protest, said Suleima Ishaq, head of the Combating Violence Against Women unit at the Ministry of Social Development, without saying who were the suspected perpetrators.
"One woman filed a report with the authorities while the other woman refused taking legal steps," Ishaq told AFP.
The army on Monday insisted in a statement it supports "free and fair elections" in 2023.
However, ars longa, vita brevis... the Forces for Freedom and Change, the umbrella group which spearheaded the protests against Bashir, has called for more demonstrations on December 25 and 30.
