[Epoch Times] A Virginia judge on Friday afternoon granted a temporary injunction to seven school districts in Virginia to allow school boards to continue to mandate mask-wearing for students.
One of Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s first executive orders sought to give parents flexibility in whether to allow mask-wearing for their children in education settings. Several school boards, in response, filed a lawsuit in the Arlington Circuit Court on Jan. 24.
Arlington Circuit Court Judge Louise DiMatteo ruled in favor of seven school boards involved in the lawsuit. The judge ruled that Youngkin cannot override the decision of local school boards on mask-wearing under a 2021 state law.
DiMatteo also ruled that she believes the current policies of universal masking are beneficial. You ruled what you believe?

[Epoch Times] The much-anticipated Winter Olympics in Beijing got off to an awkward start as a member of the local security forces wearing a red armband accosted and pushed a Dutch reporter who was attempting to report on the event.
In a clip of the incident aired by the Dutch broadcaster NOS on Twitter that quickly received thousands of likes and re-tweets, viewers can see NOS reporter Sjoerd den Daas standing in front of a busy street and overpass while delivering his commentary into a microphone when the guard moves up without warning and begins yelling and pushing him aggressively.
Den Daas tries to ignore the guard and carry on with his reportage, his gaze alternating between the camera and the increasingly menacing guard, until the camera cuts away.
NOS’s tweet of the clip states that den Daas was able to resume his on-air report a few minutes after the guard accosted him. But the incident quickly drew international attention as a spate of Western publications rushed to report it.

[Epoch Times] GoFundMe says it won’t be giving the C$10 million ($8 million USD) raised to support the truckers protesting COVID-19 mandates to the organizers anymore, saying it will instead work with the organizers to send the funds to "established charities verified by GoFundMe."
"To ensure GoFundMe remains a trusted platform, we work with local authorities to ensure we have a detailed, factual understanding of events taking place on the ground," the fundraising platform said in a statement on Feb. 4. I don't trust GoFundMe. Do you?
GoFundMe added that it has "evidence from law enforcement that the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity." Occupations are only allowed in US Democratically-controlled cities.
John Carpay, president of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) which is providing legal representation for the organizers, told The Epoch Times that the linking of protesters to violent or unlawful activity is unfounded.
"I would like to see what evidence there is," Carpay said. "That’s political spin."
In a Feb. 4 post on Twitter, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson thanked GoFundMe for "listening to the plea made by the City and the Ottawa Police to no longer provide funds to the convoy organizers."
The organizers have now set up an alternate donation site on GiveSendGo, which they say will ensure the money gets to the protesters. The donation site had raised over $175,000 in just a few hours after its creation.

I can see how the stuff might possibly cause mesothelioma, but the ovarian cancer connection is strange: asbestos is supposed to be a 'physical' carcinogen, not a chemical one, and even 'swimmers' have a tough time making it up to the ovaries, so how do inert particles get there? Her former clerk edited her Wikipedia page to 'paint her in a more favorable light for a liberal audience,' according to a Politico investigation
The anonymous editor was identified by a group of the judge's former law clerks as Matteo Godi who used to clerk for the judge
The user made more than 20 edits to the pages of seven judges seen to be in the running for Biden's nomination
Godi, a Yale Law graduate from Italy, clerked for Jackson from October 2019 to October 2020, according to his LinkedIn
President Biden said he will announce his nominee pick to replace retiring Justice Breyer before the end of February
Godi, who grew up in the Parma region of Italy, attended the Pierson College at Yale before going to law school at the Ivy League school. He completed clerkships with Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and Judge Guido Calabresi of the Second Circuit.
Matteo was a visiting Lecturer at Yale Law School last fall, where he taught a course on Torts and Regulation.
During law school, he worked at NAACP LDF, Equal Justice Under Law, and the D.C. Public Defender Service.
The law clerks told Politico that their former colleague had edited Jackson's Wikipedia page 'as a matter of course' for several years.

While the Taliban has vowed to combat opium production—even though it could serve a lucrative source of revenue for the terrorist regime—SIGAR says it "has seen no evidence that the Taliban are enforcing or can enforce such a ban. On the contrary, the opium trade in Afghanistan appears to be flourishing."
In fact, opium dealers, who once operated in the shadows while the U.S.-backed former government was in power, are now selling their drugs from "stalls in village markets," according to SIGAR's report. "Opium poppy farmers, a key constituency for the Taliban, are likely to resist a ban," the watchdog said.
The report quoted one opium seller as saying that the Taliban have "achieved what they have thanks to opium. None of us will let them ban opium unless the international community helps the Afghan people."

The State Department reported last year that the U.S. Agency for International Development had "suspended all contact with the Afghan government, and terminated, suspended, or paused all on-budget assistance." The latest report, however, discloses that USAID has "resumed some off-budget," U.S.-managed activities in Afghanistan.
The White House announced last month it sent an additional $308 million in humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, where poverty and hunger has run rampant since the Taliban in August 2021 retook control of the country amid a bungled evacuation of U.S. forces.
Still, Afghanistan's citizens are starving. More than half of the population faces a "tsunami of hunger," according to the United Nations. This is the result of "record drought, rising food prices, internal displacement, and the severe economic downturn and collapse of public services following the Taliban's return to power in August."
Around 22.8 million Afghans will be at "potentially life-threatening levels of hunger this winter," with around 8.7 million facing "near-famine conditions." Another one million are at risk of dying, according to SIGAR, which cites statistics from a recent Integrated Food Security Phase Classification study.
Up to 97 percent of Afghanistan's population is now at risk of slipping below the poverty line by mid-2022 "as a result of the worsening political and economic crises," according to the report.
Additionally, the Biden administration's failure to evacuate skilled Afghan soldiers who worked for the country's former fighting force has likely led to them joining the ISIS terrorist group, according to the SIGAR report.
In an interview with former Afghan general Sami Sadat, SIGAR learned that "Afghan fighters, especially commandos and intelligence officers, could lead to IS-K's resurgence. Sadat said these people would be especially vulnerable to IS-K recruitment. Sadat added that this issue needs to be addressed more systematically, noting that IS-K may have the capability to take eastern Afghanistan quickly and establish itself in Kabul within a year."

[Dawn] In a major move towards easing restrictions on Afghanistan, the United States has now decided to allow international banks to transfer money to the country for humanitarian purposes.
A directive issued by the US Department of Treasury earlier this week also allows aid groups to pay teachers and healthcare workers at state-run institutions without the fear of breaching US sanctions on the Taliban ...Arabic for students... "Both US and non-US companies can ship food to Afghanistan, and banks can process financial transfers and other transactions associated with food shipments to Afghanistan," said the directive issued in Washington.
The Treasury also outlined permitted transactions involving the Taliban, which includes the blacklisted Haqqani Network.
These include signing agreements to provide aid directly to the Afghan people, general aid coordination, including import administration, and sharing of office space.
"Payments of taxes, fees, or import duties to, or the purchase or receipt of permits, licences, or public utility services from" the Taliban, Haqqani Network or any entity in which they own more than 50 per cent is authorised for humanitarian operations, the directive said.
It explained that "US sanctions do not specifically prohibit the exportation or re-exportation of agricultural commodities, medicine, and medical devices to Afghanistan".
The Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control also issued a general licence, which authorises "US persons to engage in all transactions that are ordinarily incident and necessary to the exportation or re-exportation of agricultural commodities, medicine, medical devices, replacement parts, and components for medical devices, or software updates for medical devices to Afghanistan".
The directive, known as GL 15, allows persons in third countries as well to purchase these items specifically for resale to Afghanistan. Non-US persons may engage in or facilitate transactions that would be authorised for US persons under GL 15.
GL 15 also authorises US persons to engage in transactions or activities that are ordinarily incidental and necessary to authorised exports or re-exports, including the processing of financial transactions and related clearing and settlement involving privately-owned and state-owned banks in Afghanistan.
The United States froze about $9.5 billion of Afghan assets after the fall of Kabul in August last to prevent the Taliban from accessing them. The frozen Afghan assets are the second-largest seized by the US since the Iranian assets frozen in the 1980s.
Last week, UN Secretary General António Guterres reiterated his appeal for a conditional release of the frozen funds with a warning that Afghanistan was "hanging by a thread".
"Babies being sold to feed their siblings. Freezing health facilities overflowing with malnourished children. People burn their possessions to keep warm. Livelihoods across the country have been lost," he said.

Iran has demanded the restoration of all sanctions relief it was promised under the deal to return to compliance.

"It is being issued as a matter of policy discretion with these objectives in mind, and not pursuant to a commitment or as part of a quid pro quo. [Breitbart] Chileans on Friday protested against outgoing president Sebastián Piñera’s attempt to push through a last-minute lithium mining contract before leftist president Gabriel Boric takes office in two months, and possibly nationalizes the lithium industry.
Chile was the world’s leading producer of lithium until 2016, when it lost its crown to Australia, and on current trendlines it could fall behind several other countries.
Piñera told reporters Friday that pushing through a tender for lithium extraction was the best “strategic plan” for revitalizing the stagnant domestic industry.
“We have two options: either we leave lithium in the ground or we use lithium for the benefit of all Chileans,” he said.
Piñera’s administration pointed out the proffered 29-year contract would only cover four percent of Chile’s huge reserves, which account for over half of the world’s known lithium deposits. Chile produced 37 percent of the world’s lithium in 2016, but is down to 32 percent today, and will bottom out at 17 percent by 2030 according to current projections – even as the worldwide demand for lithium surges because it is a vital component of electric car batteries.
Boric apparently intends to create a “national lithium company” to take over the industry, much as Chilean Marxists once nationalized copper mining. Which will inevitably lead to a lithium shortage.
[Breitbart] The governments of China and Argentina finalized an agreement on Tuesday to build a nuclear plant in Argentina based on Chinese technology and backed by $8 billion worth of Chinese financing, World Nuclear News (WNN) reported on Wednesday.
The nuclear power plant will be reportedly constructed near the town of Lima, which is located in Buenos Aires province roughly 60 miles northwest of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s national capital. The energy facility will utilize China’s “Hualong One technology” which is based on an “HPR1000 reactor” that uses “enriched uranium as fuel and light water as coolant and moderator, with a rated gross power of 1200 MWe and an initial life of 60 years,” according to WNN.
The state-owned China National Nuclear Corp. (CNNC) signed a contract with the state-owned Nucleoelectrica Argentina S.A. to build the Atucha III nuclear project on February 1 through a virtual ceremony.
Beijing and Buenos Aires have been working to finalize the Atucha III nuclear deal since it was first negotiated in 2015 by the left-wing administration of former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. [Breitbart] The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday “urged” El Salvador’s government to rescind the legal tender status it bestowed to Bitcoin, a type of cryptocurrency, in September 2021, indicating that its failure to do so could hinder El Salvador’s intention of securing a future loan from the financial institution.
The IMF’s executive board met with Salvadoran government officials on January 24 for an annual “Article IV consultation,” which serves as a culmination of the IMF’s regular surveillance of a member nation’s economic policies. During the meeting, IMF directors “urged” El Salvador’s government authorities “to narrow the scope of the Bitcoin law by removing Bitcoin’s legal tender status,” according to a press release issued by the organization on January 25.
El Salvador became the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as a legal tender in September 2021. Financial analysts predicted the development could jeopardize El Salvador’s plans at the time to ask the IMF for a loan of $1.3 billion, as the lender views the cryptocurrency world as demonstrating “inadequate disclosure and oversight.” The IMF formally addressed El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin for the first time on January 25 during their consultation.
“[T]here are large risks associated with the use of Bitcoin on financial stability, financial integrity, and consumer protection, as well as the associated fiscal contingent liabilities,” the fund’s board said.
The IMF on Tuesday offered limited praise of El Salvador’s “Chivo e-wallet,” which it said could help facilitate a system of “financial inclusion” in the country in alignment with the international lender’s objectives. El Salvador’s government established the smartphone application-based “Chivo e-wallet” in 2021 to directly support its adoption of Bitcoin as a legal tender. The administration El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele created the digital payment system to facilitate Salvadorans’ acceptance and use of Bitcoin.

Biden was first briefed in depth more than a month ago by operational commanders after US forces were satisfied they would find al-Qurayshi — also known as Haji Abdullah — where they did.
For all his brinkmanship with Russia as it amasses its forces for a possible new invasion of Ukraine, Biden could not afford to take his eyes off IS.
On Tuesday morning, he met Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in the Oval Office and gave the go-ahead. Wednesday evening in Washington, Biden was in the Situation Room, monitoring a live feed of the mission as it unfolded.

Ten people left the building, said Pentagon front man John Kirby — a man and woman from the first floor and eight children in all from the first and second.
Not long after came the earth-shattering kaboom that collapsed much of the third story and blew bodies out of the house, al-Qurayshi’s among them. Gen. Frank McKenzie, head of US Central Command, said the blast was more massive than one that would be expected from a boom jacket.
From the second floor, the barricaded IS lieutenant, whom officials did not identify, and a woman thought to be his wife exchanged sustained gunfire with the commandos, US officials said. Both died in the firefight, US officials said, and one child with them was also found dead, McKenzie said.
The special operations forces conducting the mission faced danger from outside the building as well.
While the commandos were clearing the second floor, a number of imported muscle linked to al-Qaeda in Syria "began maneuvering with weapons toward US forces" at the scene, McKenzie said. Gunfire from a US helicopter killed at least two of them, he said.
Another helicopter developed a significant malfunction, McKenzie said. After landing it safely, away from the scene, the Americans rigged it to explode, then struck it with munitions from the air to be doubly sure "no sensitive equipment would remain in Syria."
When the commandos safely departed, Biden uttered "God bless our troops," according to a US official who briefed the press on condition of anonymity. "You know, Beau and Hunter served. Beau was killed in battle"
Biden was kept abreast of their long flight out of Syria overnight by Jake Sullivan, the national security adviser.
“As US forces continued inside the building and began making call-outs to the second floor, two barricaded combatants hiding among children began firing at US forces. In this engagement, one child was found dead along with the two combatants,” Commander of US Central Command General Kenneth F. McKenzie said while describing the details of the operation.
“While the second-floor clearance was underway, multiple fighters assessed to be linked to local Al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria began maneuvering with weapons towards US forces on the objectives. At least 2 of these fighters were killed in a gun engagement from a helicopter in defense of US forces,” he added.
The US forces found the ISIS leader dead on the ground outside the building due to the force of the self-initiated explosion. Fingerprint and DNA analysis confirmed that the body belonged to Qurayshi, McKenzie said. Twelve other people were also reported dead.
Qurayshi, referred to as Haji Abdullah by US officials, was hiding in Atmeh town in Idlib, around 15 kilometers north of where his predecessor Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi blew himself up in a US special forces raid in October 2019.

[Breitbart] Two Latin American presidents, Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil and Nayib Bukele of El Salvador, weighed in on the ongoing campaign against American podcaster Joe Rogan on Wednesday, condemning attacks on Rogan as an attempt to stifle freedom of speech and of the press.
Bolsonaro explicitly directed his message to Rogan, sending him “hugs” and telling him, “Stand your ground!” Bukele, on the other hand, used the controversy to attempt to discredit his detractors, who have accused him of unfairly antagonizing the press, pointing out the administration of President Joe Biden has directly weighed in on Rogan’s podcast and called for him to be censored.
Rogan is facing pressure from the left – despite having endorsed socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in the 2020 presidential election – over podcast episodes featuring individuals who dissent from mainstream public health officials on handling the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. The controversy became international news after rock musician Neil Young announced he would remove his music from Spotify, which publishes The Joe Rogan Experience episodes, as a means of protest against the comedian.
“I’m not sure what [Rogan] thinks about me or my government,” Bolsonaro wrote in English on Twitter, “but it doesn’t matter.”
“If freedom of speech means anything, it means that people should be free to say what they think, no matter if they agree or disagree with us. Stand your ground! Hugs from Brazil,” Bolsonaro wrote.
While leading a conservative government, Bolsonaro’s tenure in office has been marked by legal persecution of podcasters, Youtubers, and even lawmakers for their public broadcasts by the country’s Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF), the top court. The court is dominated by appointees nominated by former socialist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva who have used their powers to order federal police raids on public commenters who support Bolsonaro. In one of the more infamous episodes of this, the STF ordered 29 raids on bloggers, actors, and lawmakers in May 2020 on charges of “fake news,” which is not a crime in Brazil.
A year later, the STF ordered the arrest of conservative Congressman Daniel Silveira (PSL-RJ) on “fake news” grounds over a YouTube livestream in which he accused the justices on the court of abusing their power.
Bolsonaro himself has been the victim of censorship, though not by the STF. In July, YouTube censored a presidential livestream on the grounds that, like Rogan, Bolsonaro had trespassed in his statements into coronavirus “misinformation.”
Nayib Bukele, the president of El Salvador, appeared to take Rogan’s side in the current controversy, though he did not address his post on Twitter to the comedian and former game show host.
Bukele appears to be referencing complaints from human rights groups that his criticism of journalists had led them to fear for their safety.
“Since President Nayib Bukele took office in June of 2019, he has undermined press freedoms, lashing out at independent journalists, accusing them of spreading ‘fake news,’ and calling them ‘mercenaries,'” Human Rights Watch lamented in March.
Amnesty International has similarly complained that Bukele, who is a very active Twitter user, has criticized non-governmental organizations, which has allegedly resulted in “harassment.”
Unlike Bolsonaro, who is a right-wing conservative, Bukele has defied political labels. His career beginnings were with the far-left Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), but he was expelled from the party in 2017 for “defamatory acts” against the party and “disrespect for the principles of the party.” The FMLN has since opposed his administration and many in the international left have dubbed him “right-wing.”

The trajectory of the midwestern woman who was born Allison Brooks and came to be known by the nom de guerre Umm Mohammed al-Amriki has been outlined in court documents, her personal blog and newspaper articles.
Brooks grew up in Topeka, Kansas, and was remembered by one of her former teachers as a bright student who was "good at everything."
"Never would any of us who knew her back then ever thought she would end up as she has today," Larry Miller, a retired science teacher, told the Topeka Capital-Journal. "That's not the person I knew when I knew her."
Miller served as the wedding photographer for Brooks' marriage in a Methodist church to a local man named Fluke.

Fluke-Ekren and her husband moved to Egypt in 2008. Her personal blog still available online shows pictures of the family celebrating birthdays, taking a cruise on the Nile and visiting the Pyramids.
The family moved to Libya in 2011 and lived there for a year, according to the criminal complaint against her.
A former friend identified only as Farouk told ABC News she believed Fluke-Ekren became radicalized while living in the Middle East.
"She was very sympathetic toward the Islamic states, and how they were doing the right thing and how we needed to, you know, support the women and children," Farouk said. "She really felt people were being harmed by a larger force."
She was wearing a hijab in the 2004 article — she went abroad because she had already put her feet on that path. The question is whether she left the Fluke kids behind or if they escaped later.

"Don't underestimate Joe's ability to fuck things up"
[Breitbart] Upon assuming the presidency, Joe Biden promised the world, “America is back,” building on his campaign claims that President Donald Trump had severely damaged relations with the country’s allies.
It took very little time for Biden to turn that promise into a punchline, enacting bizarre unilateral policies that prompted distancing, confusion, and more than one passionate rant against his administration from heads of state of countries that traditionally have had no issue with Washington. On nearly every continent, Biden found a way this year to outrage allied leaders with policies that did little to benefit the United States.

The NIA team also discussed with Canadian authorities the findings of the probe against terror groups such as the Babbar Khalsa International, Khalistan Zindabad Force, Sikhs for Justice and Khalistan Tiger Force.

The source further added that the agencies are looking into the source of funding. While there is no harm in collecting funds in the name of the protests, the NIA is looking to find if money is being collected in the name of the protests, but is being diverted to fund separatist activities of the SJF.
The probe was ordered after the SJF, a proscribed organization arranged protests in front of Indian missions abroad. After the financial trail was found the ambit of the probe was widened.
The probe was handed over the NIA after the foreign nations where the protests were organised did not take action. The NIA after a recent amendment has foreign jurisdiction and hence was handed over the probe. Investigations have found that funds have been coming in from Canada, US and UK. The official cited above said that this money is being collected by the SJF in the name of the protests. However not all is going towards the protests. A good part of it is being diverted towards subversive and propaganda activities of the SJF.

[Dawn] Security forces killed three terrorist, including two high-value targets, in the Balgatar area of Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. 's Kech district during a follow-up clearance operation at a hideout linked with recent terrorism activities in Panjgur, the military's media affairs wing said on Friday.
"The terrorists' hideout was surrounded on a major intelligence tip-off," the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
"Security forces encircled the well dug out [hideout] and [engaged] in an intense exchange of fire" with the snuffies hiding there, it said, adding that three bad boyz were potted in the incident.
The statement said the killed snuffies were identified as bully boy commanders Summair alias Bahar, Altaf alias Lalik and Phailan Baloch, who was involved in terrorism activities against security forces in Hoshab , Panjgur and other areas.

GRENADE ATTACK ON LEVIES CHECKPOST
Separately, six people, including two Levies personnel were maimed after unknown miscreants threw a grenade at a Levies checkpost in the border town of Chaman in Balochistan, officials said.
Speaking to Dawn.com, Chaman Deputy Commissioner Jumma Dad Mandokhail confirmed the number of injured and said the incident took place at a checkpost located on Chaman's Roghani Road.
Security officials arrived at the scene immediately after the incident occurred and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Chaman.

After all even CNBC - while interviewing labor secretary Marty Walsh - couldn't believe the BLS data, prompting the secretary to repeat on many occasions that the numbers are "credible" and he "stands behind them" and of course he will: after all, taken at face value the numbers signal a resilient labor market and demand for workers despite omicron’s hit. The gains were broad-based, spanning retail, hospitality, transportation and warehousing, business services and others. In short, contrary to data from even the Atlanta Fed whose GDPNow shows Q1 GDP rising just 0.1%, the labor data indicates an economy firing on all cylinders and growing strong.
But is that true?
Well, here's what happened. First, looking at just the December to January change we find that while the seasonally adjusted number rose by an impressive 467K, the unadjusted number collapsed, tumbling from 150.349 million to 147.525 million, a 2.8 million drop (as it tends to do every time the year shifts from December to January) meaning that the entire delta in the January number - somewhere in the 3+ million range - is due to arbitrary adjustments overlaid on top of the data.

The trick is to make the opposing changes to months 3 to 6 months in the past so no one will notice.

[Breitbart] President Joe Biden is being criticized for promising to nominate a black woman to fill the forthcoming vacancy on the U.S. Supreme Court — a promise that was a quid pro quo in exchange for Rep. James Clyburn’s endorsement in the 2020 primary.
No one objects to a qualified black woman being nominated to the highest court — and there are several worthy candidates, even if some have ideological views that might still prompt a conservative Republican to vote against their confirmation.
Rather, what is objectionable is the fact that Biden — who had to apologize to Anita Hill on the campaign trail — has placed race and sex first.
Such criteria are generally considered unconstitutional by the Supreme Court’s own previous jurisprudence. They are also demeaning to the nominee, exclusionary toward other qualified candidates, and corrosive of public trust in the judiciary.
The reality is that Biden and the Democrats don’t particularly care about the rise of black women in government, and have zealously tried to undermine them on many occasions.
As Breitbart News’ Paul Bois noted earlier this week, Biden filibustered a conservative black judge, Janice Rogers Brown, nominated by then-President George W. Bush, for two years. Democrats were afraid that Republicans might appoint her to the Supreme Court and take credit for that historic milestone.
A more recent example is that of Jackie Lacey, the former District Attorney of Los Angeles County. She was the first black woman to hold that position. She presided during a time when relations between the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the black community had improved dramatically — until the Black Lives Matter movement arose, and targeted her, claiming that she was not doing enough to prosecute police officers. They threatened her and marched to her private home.
Enter George Soros, who had begun spending millions of dollars to elect radical left-wing prosecutors who would pursue “criminal justice reform” in American cities. At first, some Democrats resented his intervention, since Soros’s candidates were usually running against incumbent Democrats. But then they all fell in line — most notoriously L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, who shamefully withdrew his endorsement of Lacey in 2020 and backed Soros’s man, George Gascón, instead.
Gascón has presided over a staggering rise in violent crime, which recently claimed the life of Jacqueline Avant, a wealthy black woman widely known and admired for her philanthropy. Avant was murdered during a home invasion and robbery, allegedly by a man who had been released from prison on parole supervision.
When asked to explain the murder, Gascón blamed the “system.” Yet not one of the Democrats who endorsed him has backed the ongoing campaign to recall him.
In the 2020 election, when Republican Winsome Sears became the first black lieutenant governor of Virginia, Democrat pundits claimed she was a “black mouth moving” and “speaking on behalf of a white supremacist legacy.”
There are other, more subtle, snubs. White House press secretary Jen Psaki defends Biden’s use of race and gender to select a Supreme Court justice. Yet she cannot and will not explain how she has her own job, bypassing a black woman, Symone D. Sanders, who paid her dues by working for Biden throughout the 2020 presidential campaign. Sanders was relegated to the vice president’s office and recently quit to join MSNBC.
Harris is, of course, the first black woman to be elected vice president. Yet somehow she has been given all of the worst and most difficult tasks — solving the border crisis, for example, which Biden caused by urging migrants to come to the U.S.
The Democrats do not care about the advancement of black women as such, nor about whether black women benefit from their policies. Democrats’ main interest is the exploitation of identity for political purposes — and, sadly, it seems to work.
