China-Japan-Koreas
Taiwan Is The Real China. The "People's" Republic Of China Is An Illegitimate Dictatorship
[CD Media Dec 29,2021] All dictatorships are illegitimate, because all dictatorships deny and crush the most essential traits of human beings: free will, creativity, and love.

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP), as is typical of all dictatorships, excels at the destruction of the human soul and freedom. The CCP has done its best to make the world afraid of its power, but one tiny country is saying "no."

Kudos to Lithuania for recognizing Taiwan and standing up to the Chinese Communist Party. Lithuania is confronting a bully at great risk to its prosperity and well-being, while much larger countries slink away. Accommodating totalitarians never works. Thugs and criminals who murdered tens of millions of innocent civilians have no conscience and will not change their behavior unless they are forced to do so by a stronger opponent.

Communist China demands that the world acknowledge that the real China is Communist China and that Taiwan has no validity as a separate country. They rattle their sabers and snarl threats to anyone who dares to question their narrative about Taiwan. Companies and individuals who want to profit from trade with Mainland China meekly apologize and move on, kicking Taiwan to the curb. To those who make millions of dollars from the Communist Chinese while abandoning Taiwan, one might suggest that they remember the words of Jesus in Mark 8:36: "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"

But let’s consider for a moment the moral status of Taiwan compared to the CCP. And I say "CCP"—not "Mainland China"—because the communists in China are a minority of fascists who have enslaved their citizens and do not represent the hearts and minds of their people.

Slavery is the dividing line. The CCP might say that they don’t practice slavery, but enslaving an entire society under a totalitarian system of oppression fits the bill. It’s not just China, of course. North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Venezuela, and every other repressive regime in the world can be succinctly labeled as a country of "illegitimate slavers."

Someone might point to the long history of conquest in the world and excuse the CCP as the military victor in an internal conflict. Mao Zedong won the war and to the victor go the spoils. Hasn’t that happened everywhere in the world, throughout history? Look at Britain: the Angles, Saxons, and Jutes occupied England and became "the rightful rulers," and then the Normans conquered the Anglo-Saxons. Such is life, and such is history.

#3  The Kuomintang (Nationalists) refugees from the Mainland also trampled all over the rights of the indigenous Taiwanese. Mandarin dialect was enforced in all the schools for example. Even so their cruelties were retail level while the CCP under Mao was, and is butchering people on an industrial scale.

Pelosi LANDS in Taiwan: Democrat defies Beijing and touches down in Taipei escorted by five F-15s as China sends tanks onto beaches opposite island and 'fighter jets across the strait'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news]
  • House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has arrived in Taiwan

  • Her Air Force plane - with its distinctive blue and white colors and American flag on the tail - touched down in Taipei at 10:45 pm local time

  • China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately blasted her visit, calling it a 'serious disregard of China's strong opposition and violation of one-china principle'

  • As the speaker's Air Force C40 approached Taipei, Chinese Air Force Su-35 fighter jets were crossing the Taiwan Straits, local media outlets reported

  • Eight US F-15 fighter jet and five tanker aircraft took off from a U.S. base in Okinawa to provide protection for Pelosi's flight, NHK reported

  • 'Our Congressional delegation's visit to Taiwan honors America's unwavering commitment to supporting Taiwan's vibrant Democracy,' Pelosi said

  • Beijing's warplanes have been flying very close to the Taiwan Strait on Tuesday in a 'provocative' move

  • Four US warships, including the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, are positioned in waters east of Taiwan

#1  All right. I'm never going to be a Pelosi fan. That said, as of right now (which can always change) the Chinese look toothless here. China’s response so far today:
- Cyber attack against Taiwan President’s Office
- Closed air space to civilian aircraft over the straits
- Civil defense sirens now sounding in China
- Chinese fighters heading for the straits
- Massive land force mobilization along the coast

Whoever wrote her remarks (all I have is what's being reported out there, so if the reports are wrong, that's on me for passing it along) is saying stuff that nobody at the White House, NSC, Pentagone or DoS would be caught dead saying:

"Our delegation’s visit to Taiwan honors America’s unwavering commitment to supporting Taiwan’s vibrant Democracy.
Our discussions with Taiwan leadership reaffirm our support for our partner & promote our shared interests, including advancing a free & open Indo-Pacific region."

As for Knothead, he might have been a big deal right after 9/11 but nobody remembers him now. He's just another terrorist who got whacked. You give Baraq too much credit. He was lazy and not terribly bright. He was good at reading from a teleprompter and not much else. When he wandered away from the teleprompter he often times sounded about as dumb as Joe.

But don't worry. Xi is the one who is calling the shots and this time he will not shoot. You really think Nancy would have the nerve to pull this stunt if she thought otherwise?

#9  China will not invade as it lacks the transport capability. If it loses major face, it will attempt something but this is not losing face for it.

This is a PR win for China internally as it allows them to keep the population whipped up into nationalistic support while the economy crumbles and the people's wealth gets stolen.

Win for internal China, win for US grandstanding. Only way this fails is if some asshat actually does shoot.

#11  I have heard that they are more likely to blockade the island. A barrage would likely damage economic assets. An opposed amphib landing would just be a bloody swim meet. If the response is taking out the Three Gorges Dam, the bloody swim meet will be in a different location.

#12  #6 Well said, Abu. Strikes me that Emperor Xi and Princess Stolichnaya have different problems with a common solution. His economy is beginning to appear to unravel, from real estate to steel is not a good look. As for 'I'll have another' she doesn't need any more publicity (Paulicity?) after wrist slapping DUI's and pricey option trades. Plainly a distraction is needed!

#15  China is moving hundreds of civilian’s ferries to locations in the Fujian area.

99% of them can't transport tanks or heavy supplies. I doubt much will come from this. 30,000 troops with no supplies or tanks can be landed at one time. Little chance of them surviving until the next wave comes in 6 hours later. And don't bet on your transport ability to stay static every time. Boats will be sinking right and left on the approach and departure.

#17  China has infiltrated us. I am sure that Taiwan is also infiltrated. I am not sure what the defense would look like. Without that consideration, you have to own the air, sea and beach to make an opposed landing work. Civilian boats could work if you have every other superiority. Posted by: Bangkok Billy || 08/02/2022 20:15 Comments || Top||

#26  Billy, exactly. When the Brits evacuated Dunkirk, they left behind all their heavy equipment, tanks, artillery, etc. LANDING those things from ferry boats is an entirely different exercise.

#27  Just spitballing here. The first two Chinese carriers and their support ships are at sea. The third carrier that they launched last month undergoing sea trials. It of course has no aircraft. If you really wanted to roll the dice, that third carrier could haul a lot of material across the straits and be relatively bullet resistant whilst doing so. I think it’s too risky a subterfuge for the Chinese at this point in time. Far better to keep wearing down the Taiwanese fighter pilots and airframes with constant probes. Eventually too many birds will be in check simultaneously and a window of opportunity will have been created for a kinetic strike. Best option is to be patient and co-opt the island peacefully. But sometimes folks get impatient …

#30  Part of the Chinese strategy has to be to make any US decision to support Taiwan as difficult as possible. Attempting a cross-strait invasion while a senior member of the US gummint (whatever we here may think of her) is actually on the island makes the US decision relatively easy.

Home Front: WoT
Trump had the chance to kill al-Qaeda's leader but didn't because he didn't recognize the name, report says
[MSN - your source for fabricated news]
  • Then-President Trump had the option to kill al-Zawahiri, but chose not to, NBC reported in 2020.

  • Trump wanted to kill Osama bin Laden's son, Hamza bin Laden instead because it was the only name he knew, NBC said.

  • Trump confirmed in 2019 that the younger bin Laden had been killed in a US counterterrorism operation earlier on in his presidency.
Intelligence officials briefed Trump many times about senior terrorist figures the CIA wanted to track down and kill, specifically mentioning al-Zawahiri, NBC News reported.

But two people familiar with the briefings told NBC News that Trump chose not to pursue al-Zawahiri because he didn't recognize his name, and instead suggested targeting bin Laden's son, Hamza bin Laden.

"He would say, 'I've never heard of any of these people. What about Hamza bin Laden?'" one unnamed former official told NBC News.

A Pentagon official also told the news outlet: "That was the only name he knew."

#12  I suspect we knew where Al-Zawahiri was located for quite some time. The time was opportune and a bit desperate. Why?

1. Because Biden is viewed as a weak or non-leader by many, here and abroad. This was a chance to try change that image.
2, Biden's and the Dem polls are bad prior to 2022 and 2024 elections, another chance to try to change that.

Hiccups, Hospital, Covid, Remdesivir, Death
[Epoch Times] The couple had gone to Providence Saint John’s Health hospital for help with Victor Javier’s persistent hiccups.

Instead, the 54-year-old was allegedly improperly diagnosed with COVID-19, treated with Remdesivir and Dexamethasone without consent, and never came home.

The complaint alleges that Dexamethasone not only worsened Javier’s hiccups and diabetes but also contributed to his blindness, leg amputations, and eventual death.
No dates provided; I am guessing 2021.
"Victor’s risk of death dramatically changed for the worse when he was given high-risk and contraindicated drugs Remdesivir and Dexamethasone without the knowledge, or informed consent, of Victor or Maricela," the complaint states.

"Victor Javier did not receive a diagnosis or treatment for his hiccups and instead was diagnosed with COVID-19."

"Remdesivir is an intravenous infusion given over five days but what they fail to tell people is that it causes acute kidney failure and it also can cause liver failure," said Dr Bryan Tyson, an El Centro physician who advocates for the use of Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine to treat COVID-19.

"Remdesivir is one of these failed antivirals that the National Institutes of Health has been trying to use for Ebola and so here’s a way to ’make our money back. Let’s use it and see if it works for coronavirus,’" he said.
I guess he'll be an 'expert witness' testifying for the family.

Elton John Says Michael Jackson Was 'A Disturbing Person To Be Around'
[Women's Health] After over half a century of musical superstardom, Sir Elton John has got nothing to lose by being frank about his feelings. That’s why it’s no surprise that his new autobiography, Me: Elton John, is full of shocking revelations about his life in show business. Among those revelations are his comments about the late Michael Jackson, whom he calls, "mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around."

"I’d known Michael since he was 13 or 14," John writes. "He was just the most adorable kid you could imagine. But at some point in the intervening years, he started sequestering himself away from the world and away from reality, the way Elvis Presley did."

John also speculates about Jackson’s tortured relationship with prescription drugs, alluding to his addiction to painkillers: "God knows what was going on in his head, and God knows what prescription drugs he was being pumped full of, but every time I saw him in his later years I came away thinking that the poor guy had totally lost his marbles. I don’t mean that in the lighthearted way. He was genuinely mentally ill, a disturbing person to be around."

Russia's Medvedev dismisses Biden's arms pact call
[Yahoo] Russia's former president dismissed a call by U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday to press on with talks on a new nuclear arms treaty, saying the appeal was out of place in a changed world.

Dmitry Medvedev, now deputy head of Russia's Security Council, said he had told Washington repeatedly that major issues, like a framework to replace the New START treaty, could not be done without Russian involvement.

Medvedev, writing on his Telegram channel, said Biden had "reluctantly spat out" the call for new talks, referring to Soviet-U.S. arms agreements concluded despite difficulties in the Cold War era.

"All this, of course, is good. But let me say it once again - the situation now is much worse than in the Cold War," wrote Medvedev, who served as president for four years while Vladimir Putin was prime minister.

"A lot worse! And through no fault of our own. The main thing is. ... do we really need this? The world is a different place."

A Russian foreign ministry source had earlier expressed puzzlement about Biden's proposal to negotiate the New START Treaty when it expires in 2026.

Biden said in a statement on Monday that his administration was ready to "expeditiously" negotiate a new framework but that Russia should demonstrate that it is ready to resume work on nuclear arms control with the United States.

"Is this a serious statement or has the White House website been hacked?" a Russian foreign ministry source told Reuters. "If this is still a serious intention, with whom exactly do they intend to discuss it?"

The New START Treaty, struck in 2011, obliged the United States and Russia to limit deployed intercontinental ballistic missiles, deployed submarine-launched ballistic missiles and deployed heavy bombers equipped for nuclear armaments.

It also put limits on nuclear warheads on those deployed missiles and bombers and the launchers for those missiles. Both sides reached the central limits of the treaty by Feb. 5, 2018, and the treaty has been extended to the end of Feb. 4, 2026.
Poor Joe. Rejected again.
It isn't them, Joe, it's you. And the fact you are weak.

Xi Jinping Calls for Using United Work Front to Weaponize Chinese Abroad
[Breitbart] Chinese dictator Xi Jinping used his weekend address to the Central Conference on United Front Work to make more aggressive use of that deeply suspicious Communist organization for radicalizing and weaponizing Chinese people living in Western nations.

China’s "United Front" system is an elaborate network of well-funded influence operations that infiltrate and co-opt groups outside the Chinese Communist Party, and for that matter outside of China. The United Front is basically a system for injecting the ideological toxins of Chinese Communism into every group that looks vulnerable and useful.

Some "United Front Work" looks respectable and above-board, disguised as diplomatic programs, cultural outreach, and charity efforts. The United Front also engages in covert subversive activities and supports outright espionage from the regime in Beijing.

One of the most pernicious programs overseen by the United Front Work Department is the Confucius Institute, a network of supposedly benign Chinese language and cultural training programs at American universities. The Confucius Institutes were largely shut down by the U.S. government and university management over the past few years, but they are making a comeback under different names.

SOCOM Orders Cropduster Attack Planes from L3Harris Technologies
[Defense One] U.S. Special Operations Command has chosen L3Harris Technologies to supply up to 75 attack planes based on a cropduster aircraft in a deal that could be worth $3 billion.

It’s a huge win for the the country’s sixth-largest defense contractor which in recent years has looked to grow from a Florida-based electronics supplier to a lead contractor of high-end weapons and a disruptor among its larger peers.

"This rugged, sustainable platform will operate in permissive environments and austere conditions around the world to safeguard our Special Operations Forces on the ground," USSOCOM Commander Gen. Richard Clarke said in an emailed statement.

L3Harris’ aircraft is a weaponized Air Tractor AT-802, a turboprop agricultural aircraft that typically flies around 150 mph. The initial contract awarded Monday is worth $170 million, but could reach $3 billion by 2029 if all of the options are exercised.

"We decided to take a clean-sheet approach to this program to align with the requirements," L3Harris CEO Chris Kubasik said during the company’s quarterly earnings call last week. "[The] team has spent a fair amount of money in [research and development] and capital. We've had lots of demos that have gone well that we think position us in a good place to potentially win this program."

San Francisco Holds Kink & Fetish Fest: Get Monkeypox Vaccine and Go for It
[Breitbart] San Francisco held its “Kink and Fetish” sex festival on Sunday despite the spread of the monkeypox virus among homosexual men. Organizers said they took precautions such as putting booths ten feet apart and requiring vaccination cards for coronavirus and monkeypox to enter the venues.

“Things that used to be audience participation are not, to keep people from smooshing together,” Angel Adeyoha, executive director of Folsom Street, the group that produces the Up Your Alley event,” said in a San Francisco Chronicle report. “We’re trying to keep people from smooshing together.”

The Chronicle reported:

[The event] still didn’t match the packed-in scene of years past. The estimated total crowd was 7,000 through the course of the day, compared with a more typical year that would see about 10,000, police said. Police estimated it peaked at 2,000 to 3,000 around 4 p.m.

City officials declared a public health emergency for monkeypox just days before the Dore Alley fair. COVID-19 testing was offered by the Department of Public Health. There was no monkeypox testing, and you had to look to find a preventative leaflet about the virus.

Government Corruption
The Repeal shows how the Amish, in one county, fought to save ALL New Yorkers from what's happening now
[Miller] This global drive to “vaccinate” the human race did not come out of nowhere, but was preceded, over decades, by “public health” campaigns that variously readied people for it, by expertly convincing them that their lives, and their children’s lives, depended utterly on their obeying, without question, the dictates of “public health,” however needless and/or risky they may be.

That preparatory process has been underway for quite some time; but it accelerated in the Eighties, when the vaccination schedule for our children started growing radically (some might say metastasizing) into the relentless poisonous assault it is today. That push increasingly entailed the demonization of all those who wouldn’t go along, whether on medical grounds or for religious reasons, all such heretics now fiercely vilified as “anti-vaxxers.”

I write this as one whose family has been variously ravaged by that program (which killed my nephew, Giovanni, at two months old), and as a friend to many parents of vaccine-injured children. Such hard experience is now especially poignant, as this murderous faux-vaccination drive continues to kill children, along with countless others of all ages, all around the world.

The unprecedented horror of this drive, and the imperative to stop it, now require that we all take a critical look back at its pre-history, from the fateful rise of “Rockefeller medicine,” to the polio scare, to the HIV/AIDS scam, and the over-vaccination craze that started shortly after it, casting all those who would not comply as fools or monsters.

In furtherance of this urgent re-examination, please watch, and share, The Repeal, a new short documentary on the legal fight waged, in 2019, by the Amish in Seneca County, New York, when the state sought to ban religious and medical vaccine exemptions—an effort that foretold the COVID “vaccine” propaganda that flared up the year after.

From John Kirby, director of The Repeal:

China-Japan-Koreas
Here Are The 5 Chinese Military Response Scenarios If Pelosi Visits Taiwan
BLUF
[ZERO] Below is an excerpt from an insightful post titled Red Clouds of War Looming Over Taiwan by a Westerner who is a Taiwan-based researcher...

Scenario 1: The minimalist approach. The PLA occupies Jinmen or Matsu islands, as well as Taiwan’s islands in the South China Sea, and maybe even the Penghu Islands. They also declare part or all of the Taiwan Strait a "no go" zone to foreign military shipping. This would probably be fairly easy for the PLA, and Taiwan would probably not want to overcommit to naval action against the huge PLA Navy (PLAN) if it didn’t directly approach the main island.

Scenario 2: Hybrid warfare. Some sort of partial naval and aerial blockade of Taiwan intended to interfere with the economy, combined with stepped-up harassment, such as direct flyovers of Taiwan’s territory by PLA Air Force (PLAAF) jets, or incursions into Taiwan’s maritime space by China’s naval militia, protected by PLAN warships. This might also be accompanied by cyberattacks designed to shut down the internet and other infrastructure for days at a time. Taiwan would have no choice to assert a stiff defensive posture, resulting in real engagements between Taiwanese and Chinese forces, posing a serious risk of escalation.

Scenario 3: A serious attack but no invasion. This would involve air and sea warfare only, no boots on the ground. A full aerial and naval blockade, a protracted set of naval and aerial battles designed to degrade Taiwan’s military, combined with ballistic missile attacks on military targets. Aggressive cyberattacks turning off the internet and shutting down critical infrastructure for days or weeks. Once air and naval superiority were established, China could pick off targets at will, ratcheting up the threat until the government breaks.

Scenario 4: The Full Monty — a proper invasion. Total air and sea blockade, massive ballistic missile attacks on military targets, massive cyberattacks to paralyze virtually all military, governmental, and civilian communication and shut down critical infrastructure. Aggressive naval and aerial engagements to degrade Taiwan’s forces and achieve battlespace superiority, followed by sustained aerial assaults by fighters and bombers on military targets. A decapitation strike at Taipei by special forces units to try to seize key leadership personnel. Well-coordinated insider treason and sabotage actions by gangsters, planted CCP agents, and other groups sympathetic to China — the so-called "5th column". An amphibious assault with close air support from fighters, helicopters, and battle drones at one or more locations in Taiwan, and very possibly a move to seize a major port, such as Keelung, Taipei Port, Taichung, or Kaohsiung. Then hundreds of thousands of troops would start rolling in until the island was occupied. That would be the plan, anyway. PLA success in such an endeavor is very unclear. But they could do a hell of a lot of damage trying. And yes, they might actually succeed, at least partially, such as in seizing and holding the region around Taipei.

Scenario 5: Worst Case (short of nuclear) scenario. Full air and sea blockade, massive ballistic missile attacks on military targets, massive cyberattack, aggressive naval and aerial attacks to degrade Taiwan’s forces and achieve battlefield superiority, followed by aerial assaults by fighters and bomber on military targets and area bombing of civilian targets. There are massive casualties, and Taiwan is crushed by brute force, surrenders, and then the occupiers enter the country and take it over.

The full analysis can be read here.

Now Congress accuses Secret Service of criminal cover-up over 'missing' text messages and not handing over key evidence in January 6 probe for over a year
[MAIL] Top congressional Democrats have accused the US Secret Service of engaging in a cover-up immediately after the January 6 attacks on the nation's Capitol, by allegedly scrubbing text messages that could have incriminated them.

The potentially damning allegations were aired in a letter to the agency's inspector general Monday, penned by New York Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, and Mississippi's Bennie Thompson.

The note saw the two prominent progressives accuse Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari of overseeing the cover-up, and demanded he step aside from his post as the House continues to probe the 2021 riots.
"prominent progressives" = leftist corruptocrats
The embattled Homeland security official, who serves as the agency's watchdog, has come under fire after it was revealed he first learned of the missing messages in May 2021 - months earlier than previously known and more than a year before he alerted the House that potentially crucial information may have been erased.

It comes as part of a deepening investigation into the agency's handling of the now-deleted texts, which the reps argue may have provided proof that agents received instruction from higherups during the brazen daytime raid.

FNC Lapdog Baier sez Brandon has 'huge win with Al Zawahiri hit'
[Breitbart] FNC anchor Bret Baier said Monday on Fox News Channel’s "The Five" that President Joe Biden has had a "couple of good weeks" because the U.S. military killed Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al Zawahiri.

He also included Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), agreeing to a deal with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on a massive tax and climate package.

Baier said, "We can confirm from two intelligence sources that al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has been killed by a CIA drone strike in Afghanistan over the weekend. And that is what President Biden will announce from the White House tonight at 7:30 Eastern Time."

Discussing Biden’s speech about the drone strike, Baier said, "This is a huge, huge win for the U.S., and we expect to hear that and where the fight goes from here as far as taking out other terrorists."

Caribbean-Latin America
Iran gains foothold in South America as Biden admin pursues nuclear deal
[FoxNews] Iran has been seeking to increase its influence in South America and undermine American interests and security, drawing little response from the Biden administration as it tries to salvage the Obama-era nuclear agreement with the country.

"The Iranian Revolutionary Guards are much more actively involved in subversive and assassination issues," James Phillips, the senior research fellow for foreign policy at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News.

Phillips pointed to a 2011 plot to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, D.C., noting that Iranian agents sought to partner with a Mexican drug cartel to carry out the plot on U.S. soil.

"This was over 10 years ago…. it's been going on a long time," Phillips said.

Iran's outreach in Latin America has seemingly begun to pick up again in recent years, most recently with the appearance of a mysterious Venezuelan-flagged plane in Argentina last month. The plane, belonging to a U.S. sanctioned Iranian operator, landed in Ezeiza with a crew of 14 Venezuelans and five Iranians, one of whom was a senior Iranian official.

According to reporting from the Wall Street Journal, the plane has since been seized and an investigation has been launched, but exactly why it was allowed to land in Argentina and what it was doing there remains somewhat a mystery.

Argentinian federal police searched the plane and found material used for military cyber defense operations on board, while it was reported that the captain of the plane was Gholamreza Ghasemi, a board member and manager of Fars Air Qeshm, a U.S. sanctioned Iranian airline.

Argentinian President Alberto Fernández has insisted there was nothing suspicious about the plane, while the country's security minister claimed the captain only coincidentally shared the same name as Ghasemi, a claim contradicted by Paraguayan intelligence and questioned by Argentinian members of Congress.

Though Iran has a long history of partnership with Venezuela, a country with a history of seeking to undermine American interests, Iranian cooperation with democratic Argentina would be a more troubling development for the U.S. in the region.

A week before the plane landed in Ezeiza, both Iran and Argentina applied for membership in the BRICS group, a group of five emerging economies that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The group, which has held an annual summit since 2009, has a significant influence over world affairs, casting itself as an alternative to U.S. dominated Western alliances.

An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson told Reuters that membership in BRICS would result in added values for both sides," while Russia boasted that the U.S. was failing to cut of its international influence amid its ongoing war in Ukraine.

Iranian influence in South America would be beneficial to Russia, which under President Vladimir Putin's leadership, has made it a goal to erode U.S. influence in the region.

"Moscow has been deepening ties with fellow authoritarian regimes in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua, as part of a long-term strategy to establish permanent presence in the region," Rebekah Koffler the president of Doctrine & Strategy Consulting, former DIA intelligence officer, and the author of  "Putin’s Playbook: Russia’s Secret Plan to Defeat America, told Fox News.

Koffler said Russia's aims are not only to gain access to new markets and resources as much of the world attempts to isolate the country, but to demonstrate to the U.S. that it can operate militarily in America's backyard.

"Ultimately, Russia wants to build a formidable force posture on America's doorstep, as a deterrent, which Moscow could activate in the event of Washington intervening with Putin’s plans to re-establish control of Russia’s former Soviet states, such as Ukraine," Koffler said.

The mysterious plane in Argentina is not the only hint Iran is seeking to bolster its influence in Latin America. Earlier this year, Iranian Vice President for Economic Affairs Mohsen Rezaee was an invited guest to the inaugural ceremony of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega. Rezaee, a former member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, is wanted in Argentina for allegedly masterminding the 1994 bombing of a Jewish center in Buenos Aires.

Ortega has long been a controversial leader and has faced accusations of authoritarian policies by international observers. His time in power has seen Nicaragua hit with multiple U.S. sanctions, while the State Department has criticized his support of "radical regimes" in Cuba and Iran as well as repeated attempts to undermine capitalism and U.S. interests.

There is also evidence that Iran has extended its influence as far north as Mexico. Hezbollah, which is designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and European Union and receives military training, weapons, and financial support from Iran, has been gaining a foothold in Latin America for much of the last decade and has more recently made inroads with drug cartels in Mexico.

The Justice Department announced last month that the U.S. had extradited Adalberto Fructuoso Comparan-Rodriguez, a former mayor of Aguililla, Mexico and alleged leader of the United Cartels in Michoacán, Mexico, on drug trafficking charges.

According to the allegations, Comparan-Rodriguez met in Cali, Colombia with a drug trafficker believed to be associated with Hezbollah. Comparan-Rodriguez and an associate told the trafficker they could supply hundreds of kilograms of methamphetamine, eventually agreeing to send 500 kilograms of methamphetamine from Mexico into Texas, where they were then transported to Miami.

Law enforcement agencies were able to seize the drugs before they hit the streets after Comparan-Rodriguez was arrested by Guatemalan authorities, but the case demonstrated Hezbollah's growing influence in Latin America.

Hezbollah has a long documented history of operating in the tri-border area between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, while the organization has more recently expanded their reach to Venezuela. In 2019, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asserted that the terrorist organization now has "active cells" in Venezuela that pose a security risk to the U.S.

"People don’t recognize that Hezbollah has active cells – the Iranians are impacting the people of Venezuela and throughout South America," he said at the time. "We have an obligation to take down that risk for America."

However, the current administration has taken a different approach to the threat of Iran, abandoning the Trump administration's policy of maximum pressure in favor of trying to rekindle the Obama-era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, largely known as the Iran nuclear deal.

Phillips said the new approach has been a mistake, arguing that the Biden administration has become complacent on Iran in an effort to salvage part of former President Obama's legacy.

Pashtun jirga concludes another round of talks with TTP in Kabul
Onanistically negotiating with themselves while ignoring both the government of Pakistan, such as it is, and the governing Taliban in Afghanistan. What the army that owns Pakistan thinks of it is not herein revealed.
[Dawn] A 12-member Pashtun jirga wrapped up another round of talks with leaders of the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP)
...isn’t that the Punjabi version, while the Afghan Talibs are Pashtun?
Kabul on Monday, in a bid to resolve issues regarding the merger of tribal areas with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and modalities for the return of the group’s members.

Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, who led the tribal elders, dispelled the impression of a deadlock in the talks and told Dawn.com that the three-day talks were held in a "conducive environment" in which both sides addressed each other's reservations.

"The negotiations did not fail but are continuing. Failure and success will be judged when the process reaches an end," he said, clarifying that the talks would fail when either side decides to halt the process.

"But this is not the case," he added. "We had interactions with the TTP and the officials of the Islamic Emirate. We met the TTP separately and also together with the officials of the Islamic Emirate," he said.

Barrister Saif, however, declined to share further details of the meetings, adding that the negotiations were underway "smoothly".

When asked about the TTP’s demand for restoration of the status of ex-FATA, he said "both sides have shared their reservations and are trying to address them."

The Pak delegation had left for Kabul on July 30 for its second round of TTP leadership. The previous round of talks was held on June 1-2.

Saif told Dawn.com that the TTP reiterated its demand of the restoration of the previous status of the tribal areas.

Earlier, the TTP had said that it did not accept the merger of ex-FATA with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. FATA was merged with the province in May 2018 through a constitutional amendment.

The TTP had announced a ceasefire for an indefinite period before Eidul Fitr. Despite this, Pak security forces have come under frequent attack, particularly in the volatile Wazoo districts. Attacks on the security forces from the Afghan side have also increased during this time.

IDF raids 39 homes of Palestinians with alleged Hamas ties, arrests 13
[IsraelTimes] Military says Paleostinians hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at troops during widescale arrest operation in West Bank; no IDF, Paleostinian injuries reported

Israeli troops raided the homes of 39 Paleostinians with alleged ties to the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group overnight, the military said Monday.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, 13 wanted Paleostinians were detained during the raids.

The IDF said the aim was to arrest and question Paleostinians with ties to Hamas, and others who were involved in alleged terror activities.

Amid the arrest operations, dozens of Paleostinians hurled stones and Molotov cocktails at troops at a number of locations, the IDF said. No soldiers were hurt.

The military said troops responded with riot dispersal means. No Paleostinian injuries were immediately reported.

Tensions have remained high in the West Bank, as Israeli security forces stepped up arrest raids and operations following a deadly wave of terror attacks against Israelis that left 19 people dead earlier this year.

Last week, two Paleostinian button men were killed in an Israeli military raid in the northern West Bank city of Nablus.

IDF arrests senior PIJ member in Jenin; Palestinian teen killed during the raid
[IsraelTimes] Troops surround home of Bassem Saadi, detain him and son-in-law; Islamic Jihad declares state of alert

A Palestinian teen was killed late Monday night during an Israeli military operation in the northern West Bank city of Jenin to arrest a senior Palestinian Islamic Jihad official.

Palestinian media reports said Israeli troops surrounded the home of Bassem Saadi, the head of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group in the West Bank, before arresting him and his son-in-law and aide, Ashraf al-Jada.

Some reports said Saadi was also shot and wounded during the incident.

A joint statement by the Israel Defense Forces and Border Police said two Palestinian terror suspects were arrested in Jenin. The Shin Bet security agency confirmed Saadi was the target of the arrest, with his aide also being detained.

In response, the Gaza-based Islamic Jihad announced in a statement that it was declaring a state of “alertness” and raising its fighters’ “readiness” following the arrest of Saadi.

Footage published by Palestinian media showed a convoy of Israeli military vehicles was seen entering the Palestinian city. In other clips, heavy gunfire was heard.

Iran steps up Bahai persecution with wave of arrests
Suddenly it’s their turn.
[AlAhram] Iranian authorities have stepped up persecution of the Bahais with a wave of arrests of prominent members of the country's biggest non-Moslem minority, leaving the battered community in shock, activist muppets said on Monday.

The Bahais in Iran, who have been subjected to harassment ever since the inception of the Islamic republic in 1979, had already complained that dozens of community members had been arrested, summoned or subjected to house searches in June and July.

But the intensification of the persecution reached a new peak on Sunday when 13 Bahais were suddenly arrested in raids on the homes and businesses of 52 Bahais across the country, Diane Alai, the representative of the Bahai International Community (BIC), told AFP.

New Military Reinforcements Of Turkey Enter Syrian Territory
[NPASYRIA] A military column of Ottoman Turkish forces entered on Saturday night Syrian territories through Bab al-Salama border crossing in Azaz, north of Aleppo.

The column, which included military equipment, ammunition and vehicles, headed to the Ottoman Turkish posts in the area, a source from region told North Press.

The source added that the Ottoman Turkish-backed Levant Front (al-Jabha al-Shamiya) accompanied the column until it reached the Scientific Researches Center on Azaz-Yahmoul road in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
keeps sending military reinforcements to its posts in Syria amid escalation in festivities between Syrian government forces and Ottoman Turkish-backed SNA.

Although the de-escalation zone in northwest Syria is subjected to a Russian-Ottoman Turkish ceasefire agreement signed in March 2020, the area witnesses frequent mutual bombardment despite the entry of the ceasefire into force.

In March 2020, Russia and Turkey reached an agreement in Moscow that stipulated a ceasefire, the establishment of a safe corridor, and the conduct of joint patrols on the M4/Aleppo-Latakia Highway.

ISIS Claims Attack Against SDF In Syria’s Deir Ez-Zor
[NPASYRIA] Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) took responsibility on Saturday for targeting a vehicle of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in a town west of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, eastern Syria.

The targeting led two SDF fighters to lose their lives.

The ISIS-run Amaq news agency reported that the ISIS murderous Moslems detonated a four-wheel vehicle with an IED in the town of al-Hussan, 20 km west of Deir ez-Zor.

The explosion led to the destruction of the vehicle and the killing of those inside, according to Amaq news agency.

The countryside of Deir ez-Zor witnesses a spike in liquidations, targeting SDF fighters, employees of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), tribal leaders and civilians, despite the intensive security operations launched by the SDF.

On Saturday morning, ISIS grabbed credit for targeting a fighter of the SDF in the town of al-Busayrah east of Deir ez-Zor.

NE Syria: Two Siblings Injured In Turkish Shelling North Of Syria’s Hasakah
[NPASYRIA] Two civilians were maimed on Saturday after Ottoman Turkish forces renewed their shelling of the countryside of Tel Tamr, a town north of Hasakah Governorate, northeastern Syria.

A source of Tel Tamr Military Council, affiliated with Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told North Press that the Ottoman Turkish forces re-shelled on Saturday evening the villages of Umm al-Khair and al-Salmasa, west of Tel Tamr.

The bombardment resulted in the injury of two siblings from al-Salmasa: Majda al-Bibi, 16, and Hatem al-Bibi, 24. It also caused material damage to the villagers’ homes.

A medical source at the Legarin Hospital in Tel Tamr told North Press that the two siblings received the proper treatment, adding that their condition is stable.

Earlier on Saturday, the villages of al-Abush, al-Ghaibish, al-Tawila, Umm al-Keif, al-Gozaliya and Tel Laban were all shelled by the Ottoman Turkish forces, resulting in the injury of nine civilians, including children, according to what medical and military sources told North Press.

Out of those nine, three were hospitalized to the People’s Hospital in Hasakah, and one of them was critically injured.

The town of Tel Tamr north of Hasakah has been under constant attack by Ottoman Turkish military and its affiliated armed opposition factions, known as Syrian National Army (SNA), for more than two years.

The Ottoman Turkish strikes come after two days of calmness in the front lines in the countryside of the towns of Tel Tamer and Zirgan (Abu Rasin), north of Hasakah.

Tel Tamr, which has a population of about 25.000 and is 30 km away from the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border, is of strategic importance as it is a junction on the M4 Highway linking the Jazira region in northeast Syria to Aleppo Governorate in northwest.

29 Bodies Exhumed From ISIS-Made Mass Grave In Syria’s Manbij
[NPASYRIA] The Civil Administration in Manbij said on Sunday that it had recovered 29 bodies, including women, from a mass grave discovered a few days ago, dating back to the period when the city was under the control of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS).

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, liberated Manbij from the terrorist organization in 2016 following fierce battles.

Following its liberation from ISIS, the Arabs, Kurds, Circassians and Turkmen, who constitute the fabric of Manbij, established their own administration under the name of Democratic Civil Administration of Manbij and its Countryside to run the affairs of their region. Then, this administration joined the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

On Wednesday, municipality workers, while cleaning a sewer, stumbled upon the bodies of three men handcuffed and blindfolded.

After that, a more extensive search was done, making the final toll 29 bodies.

In its Sunday’s statement, the Civil Administration in Manbij, affiliated with the AANES, suggested that the bodies belong to civilian prisoners during ISIS reign over the city.

The AANES was first formed in 2014 in the Kurdish-majority regions of Afrin, Kobani and Jazira in northern Syria following the withdrawal of the government forces. Later, it was expanded to Manbij, Tabqa, Raqqa, Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) defeated ISIS militarily.

After ISIS took control of Manbij in early 2014, it carried out a campaign in which it arrested hundreds of the city’s residents on various charges, and took the basement under al-Madina hotel as a prison for it. It also conducted mass executions of prisoners and buried them in mass graves, according to residents of the area.

The administration condemned the massacres carried out by the holy warrior group against the residents. The deputy head of the Interior Board in Manbij Abdulkarim al-Bakkar said, "It is a massacre against humanity and shows the brutality of the organization."

Group Of SNA Faction Defects After Delaying Their Salaries

[NPASYRIA] A group of Levant Front, the most prominent faction of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA), defected on Sunday in the town of Marea, northwestern Syria, after putting off their monthly salaries.

An informed source told North Press that a group of 250 bandidos hard boyz of the Levant Front defected with their light weapons and joined the Mu’tasim Division, another SNA faction.

The Ottoman Turkish-backed SNA is consisted of dozens of armed factions which witness split and infighting due to chaos and instability situations they are subjected to and due to the failure of the Ottoman Turkish army to control them inside the Syrian territories it occupies.

The reason behind the split was the faction’s failure to hand them their salaries for more than 50 days, the source added.

Clashes In Syria’s Azaz Result In Casualties

[NPASYRIA] A gunman was killed and three others were maimed on Sunday as a result of festivities — between young men from the town of Tel Rifaat and a Ottoman Turkish-backed faction in the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo Governorate.

An eyewitness told North Press that Mohammad Deek, a bully boy of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Northern Storm Brigade, was killed and another member of the same faction was maimed. In addition, two of the young men, who were said to be civilians, were maimed.

The reason behind the hostilities, which erupted near the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque in the eastern neighborhood of the city, is yet to be known.

The city is witnessing a state of security tension, the source added.

Local sources reported that the faction mobilized its Lions of Islam in the city. The move coincided with the departure of an gang, which is believed to be affiliated with the young men, from the town of Sijo on the Ottoman Turkish-border to Azaz.

The city of Azaz in Aleppo northern countryside has been under the control of the Ottoman Turkish-backed opposition factions, also known as the Syrian National Army (SNA), since July 2012.

Turkish-Backed SNA Beats Elderly Couple In Syria’s Aleppo

[NPASYRIA] An elderly man and his wife were beaten on Saturday by members of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Hamza Division, affiliated with the Syrian National Army (SNA), a village in Aleppo northern countryside, north Syria.

Members of Hamza Division attacked the man and his wife in the village of Ghaytun in the countryside of Akhtarin, after a dispute between him and a member of the faction in the village, an eyewitness told North Press.

Akhtarin is a town in the countryside of Azaz, north of Aleppo.

Since July 2012, Azaz and the surrounding villages have been under the control of the Ottoman Turkish-backed armed opposition factions. Successive bombings and kidnapping take place frequently in the city amid inability of the Syrian opposition factions to control security.

Members of the faction arbitrarily assaulted the 60-year-old’s wife, so she was immediately transferred to the town’s hospital, the eyewitness added.

The attack aroused the anger of the residents of the village, which was followed by a quarrel with the members of the faction, so that the members opened fire intensively to disperse the demonstrators, according to the eyewitness.

The SNA-held areas undergo security chaos, including explosions, persistent fighting between the factions and liquidations in light of the factions’ failure to maintain security there.

Government Forces Set Fires To Houses East Of Aleppo

[NPASYRIA] On Sunday, soldiers of Syrian government forces set fire to a number of houses near posts of Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, also known as Syrian National Army (SNA), in the countryside of al-Bab city, east of Aleppo.

In the early morning, the soldiers of the government forces burned a number of houses on the contact lines with the Turkish-backed SNA in the town of Tadif, southeast of al-Bab, an eyewitness told North Press.

“The reason behind this operation, according to a military source, is to stop the continuous fortifications in those houses during the repeated clashes, in addition to preventing the infiltration that takes place from time to time on both sides,” the eyewitness added.

The town of Tadif witnesses frequent violent clashes between the government forces and the opposition factions, coinciding with a military escalation between the two parties as both control different parts in the town, according to the eyewitness.

Since 2017, the city of al-Bab in the eastern countryside of Aleppo has been under the control of the Turkish-backed opposition factions.

Russian Forces Patrol Areas Of Syria’s Qamishli For First Time
[NPASYRIA] Russian Military Police (MP) conducted on Saturday a military patrol in the countryside of Qamishli, a city northeastern Syria.

The patrol, which consisted of 10 armored vehicles accompanied by two helicopters, roamed the area, a military source told North Press.

The patrol toured villages and regions it had not roamed before at a depth of 30 km away from the Syrian-Ottoman Turkish border in the countryside of Qamishli, all the way to the Iraqi-Syrian border.

In October 2019, following a Ottoman Turkish military operation in areas of northeast Syria which resulted in the occupation of Tel Abyad, north of Raqqa, and Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) north of Hasakah, the Ottoman Turkish president signed two ceasefire agreements, one with Russia and the other with the US.

The ceasefire agreements stipulating halt of all hostilities there and the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) 30 kilometers in depth away from the Ottoman Turkish border in addition to conducting joint patrols with Russia in order to monitor the implementation of the agreements.

The US-led coalition usually patrols the same areas, according to the source.

On July 26, the Russian MP conducted a solo patrol in the countryside of Derbasiyah, north of Hasakah.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
3 shot during yoot football game in Oakland
[NYPOST] Three people — including a young child — were shot during a youth football game at a high school in Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, on Sunday.

A 6-year-old girl, a 30-year-old man, and a 52-year-old woman were all struck by gunfire when shots rang out in the stands of a football field at Oakland Technical High School just before 1:20 p.m., the East Bay Times reported, citing police.

The victims were among several hundred people watching a football game between a Fresno area team and an Oakland team in the 10-year-old youth league when the bullets flew.

EMS responded to the scene and rushed the 30-year-old man to an area hospital for two gunshot wounds to his feet and lower torso, according to the local outlet.

The 6-year-old girl, whose family ran her to a nearby home to call an ambulance, was also shot and rushed to a hospital in stable, pH balanced condition, police later learned.

A few hours later, around 3 p.m., the 52-year-woman who suffered a gunshot wound to her leg during the same shooting, walked into a third hospital, police told the East Bay Times.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 1st, 2022
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 23:32 Trump said that Zelensky should have abandoned the idea of returning Crimea, agreeing to an agreement with Putin. In addition, according to Trump, Zelensky should have abandoned the idea of mandatory entry of Ukraine into NATO - in this case, the war could have been prevented. The ex-US president claims that Putin was ready to negotiate with the Ukrainian authorities on such terms. Now it is much more difficult to negotiate, but in any case, we must try to negotiate, he believes.

23:10 Zelensky said in an evening video message that over the years of occupation, Russia has turned Crimea into a large military prison camp, the victims of which were tens of thousands of people: "Crimea has become a springboard for strikes on the free territory of our country ... Weak and insufficiently principled reaction to The occupation of Crimea in 2014 and in subsequent years was one of the prerequisites for Russian aggression to grow to such proportions. Gradually, we will restore justice to our Crimea."

22:55 Biden signed a Memorandum on the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $550 million. The new deliveries will include 75,000 shells for 155mm M777 howitzers, as well as missiles for HIMARS systems.

22:43 Zelensky said that he asked Macron to unblock macro-financial support for Ukraine: "I want to remind all leaders that this is 9 billion euros. These are not trifles for us, but important social things - these are our pensions, these are our salaries, support for IDPs , and therefore we expect the relevant decisions of specific statesmen."

22:14Zelensky, in an evening video message, explained why the grain corridor is so important for Ukraine: “The first ship carrying 26 thousand tons of corn left the port of Odessa today. As of now, it is not the time to draw any conclusions and predict further events. But the port started to work, the export movement began, and this can be called the first positive signal that there is a chance to stop the development of the food crisis in the world... For our state, this also has significant benefits. about half a million Ukrainians are involved in agricultural crops, and if we add related industries, this is plus a million jobs, hence the corresponding state attention to the implementation of the export initiative. This is what our people really need."

22:06 The Russians shot down an evacuation minibus with civilians near the village of Dolgovoe in the Kherson region, said Alexander Vilkul, head of the military administration of Krivoy Rog. He said that there was an attempt to evacuate seven civilians from the occupied village of Staroselye by minibus. In the vicinity of the village of Dolgovoe, the invaders fired at point-blank range at this bus with an anti-tank guided missile. Two civilians were killed, five were evacuated to Krivoy Rog. Two of them are in serious condition with burn shock.

21:44 The grain deal, despite the provocations of Russia and the shelling of Odessa, still earned. 20:49 Law enforcement officers do not exclude that the house of the owner of the agricultural company Nibulon Alexei Vadatursky, who died as a result of the shelling of Nikolaev, could have been targeted, Prosecutor General Andrey Kostin said on the air of the telethon: "One of the versions is the targeted murder of Mr. Vadatursky and his family."

20:43 Ukraine will limit the shipment of grain to three ships a day for the next two weeks, Infrastructure Minister Alexander Kubrakov said in a Bloomberg commentary.

20:32 BP Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets said on the air of the telethon that the Russians still have not provided access to the site of the murder of Ukrainian prisoners in Yelenovka to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the UN does not respond to the Ombudsman's requests about this situation.

Lubinets also said that he had received a "signal" that the Russian side was considering his request to visit Yelenovka and communicate with wounded Ukrainian prisoners. And to the question whether Russia is ready to return the bodies of the prisoners who died in Yelenovka to Ukraine, Lubinets replied: “We received a signal that they are ready to return the bodies of our heroes. have not received".

According to the Center for National Resistance, in Kherson, the invaders gathered the heads of condominiums and threatened with "preventive measures" if the residents of the houses did not pay "in the interests of the Russian Federation." However, such meetings did not yield any results.

The Center also reports that only about 10,000 residents of the occupied Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, that is, about 1% of the adult population, have currently received Russian passports. This is despite the fact that there is an active issuance of 10 thousand rubles in exchange for obtaining a Russian passport.

16:04 The "DNR" said that they would "judge" the next foreigners who fought on the side of Ukraine and were taken prisoner in Mariupol. According to the "DNR", they served in Azov. 14:48 The Ukrainian military liberated 46 settlements of the Kherson region, said acting. head of the OVA Dmitry Butriy. Most of them are in the northern part of the region, which borders on the Dnipropetrovsk region, and also a little in the south - on the border with the Mykolaiv region. Butriy said that in the de-occupied territory "there are villages that are 90% destroyed - they are still under constant shelling today, the population has mostly left." He stated that now the situation in the Kherson region is critical, and called for evacuation to safer territories before the liberation of the region.

14:44 The occupiers have opened a recruiting center for collaborators in the Zaporozhye region, who should create extras at the so-called "spontaneous actions" in support of the "referendum". This, according to the organizers, will help to reduce the degree of dissatisfaction with the war and will create an appropriate picture on TV for citizens of the Russian Federation. According to the GUR MOU, Russian specialists have already arrived in Melitopol to conduct PR campaigns.

However, there are few people who want to participate in such events, the occupiers are forced to import "activists" from the occupied Crimea. Also, the importation of so-called "humanitarian cargo" from the territory of the Russian Federation continues - the conditions for receiving "humanitarian aid" or its monetary compensation are participation in "actions in support" of the occupation regime and the provision of passport data.

14:35 Western countries have postponed the introduction of a ban on insurance of sea transportation of Russian oil due to fears of inflation and the energy crisis, writes the Financial Times. The publication notes that the EU announced the ban two months ago, counting on coordination with the British government, but the UK banned only ships carrying Russian oil into the country, and then after December 31, and Brussels itself eased sanctions. The US is also worried that a global ban on marine insurance will drive prices up.

Podolyak said on this occasion that "the refusal to immediately introduce a ban on insurance for the transportation of Russian oil, as well as the delay in recognizing the Russian Federation as a terrorist country, is a green light for the Kremlin to continue killing and terror."

14:19 The authorities plan to evacuate more than 50,000 children and 200,000 adults from the Donetsk region, Vereshchuk said: "Those who will be evacuated need to call the administration, write online in chat bots. Everything is recorded in the OVA, and to such people they will come, pick them up, transport them to the place of evacuation. It can be a bus or a train."

13:56 The EU sent Ukraine 1 billion euros of exceptional macro-financial assistance. The first tranche of 500 million euros has already been credited to the NBU account, the second tranche is expected to arrive tomorrow, Shmyhal said. 13:19 Over the past two or three weeks, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed about 15 ammunition depots of the Russian troops in southern Ukraine, said Natalya Gumenyuk, head of the coordination press center of the security and defense forces of the South. According to her, the use of S-300 systems by the enemy indicates that the Russians do not have enough ammunition: "About 15 warehouses in our operational zone alone were destroyed."

13:01 In Ukraine, the state portal for searching for children, the Children of War information platform , launched to help law enforcement agencies collect data on Ukrainian children who suffered during the war, including those who went missing or were moved to temporarily occupied territories and deported to Russia.

12:56 The head of the Transcarpathian OVA, Viktor Mikita, denied the statement of the head of the regional council Volodymyr Chubirko about the imminent resumption of the airport in Uzhgorod: "Now the statements about the resumption of the airport's work are nothing more than desires and intentions." According to Mikita, the airport does not have the appropriate permits, which means it is not ready to receive or send civilian flights to the EU.

12:51 Law enforcement officers detained a volunteer of the Territorial Defense, who previously held the position of deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, on suspicion of selling humanitarian aid, the Office of the Prosecutor General reports. According to the investigation, the man, being away from the collision line, was selling bulletproof vests and other protective equipment supplied to Ukraine by European countries as part of the assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Law enforcement officers detained the man directly during the sale of humanitarian aid. He faces five to seven years in prison with confiscation of property.

12:31 The National Bank of Ukraine announced that within the framework of the Smiliva hryvnia charity event , over the next three months it will collect coins in denominations of 10, 50 kopecks and 1, 2, 5, 10 hryvnias. The amount of funds raised will be transferred to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the regulator, more than 14 billion coins worth over UAH 5 billion are currently in circulation. Almost a third of them (28.5%) - with a face value of 10 kopecks, another 9% - with a face value of 50 kopecks. These coins are often not used by citizens and lie in piggy banks or pockets. The NBU calculated that 5 billion hryvnia in coins is about 70 Bayraktar drones, or 25 HIMARS, or 50 T-90 tanks, or 150 combat infantry vehicles.

You can donate coins for the needs of the army from August 1 to October 31, 2022 at Oschadbank and FUIB branches.

12:20 Ukrainian Ambassador to the UK Vadym Prystaiko said in an interview with Suspilny that the military exercises for Ukrainians organized by London are designed primarily for volunteers who still have not had basic military training: "We are talking about a ten thousandth group of people who should receive basic military training in accordance with NATO and British Armed Forces standards." The training should last 120 days, and it is planned that every 120 days the next 10,000 will be trained.

According to Prystaiko, these are volunteers, men and women aged 25 to 40, from "all possible professions." In addition, Britain also offers more professional narrow-profile training, in particular for sailors.

12:09 In Kiev, ground public transport will stop for the duration of the air raid alert , according to the Kyiv City State Administration. All ground transport, including private carriers, during an air raid must stop moving in a safe place in accordance with the Rules of the Road. Passengers must leave the cabin and go to the nearest shelter. The Metro will still not carry out transportation on ground sections during the air raid and will close the work of open-type stations.

12:00 Andriy Melnyk, who is leaving the post of Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, said in a commentary to the Financial Times that he saw no alternative to his "shock diplomacy". The sometimes undiplomatic approach, he said, woke up German officials, many of whom still want to revive a "special relationship" with the Kremlin and keep buying Russian gas. "They just have to give up these fantasies," Melnik said.

11:42 In the occupied Kherson region, the main role in organizing the "referendum" is assigned to the Volunteers for Russia organization , the SBU reports. Members of the organization must imitate the support of local residents and participate in the creation of stories for Russian television. According to the intelligence service, local organizers report to Russian curators about the lack of support for the "referendum" among the locals.

11:33 In July, 80 Russians applied for visas to Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, speaker of the State Border Guard Service, said on the air of the telethon: "During this month, about 80 citizens of the Russian Federation submitted information for obtaining a visa, but not one of them received a visa and, in fact, none of them could cross the border if they had a visa."

11:07 The head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai said that today in Uzhgorod, together with the head of the Transcarpathian OVA Viktor Nikita, he signed an Agreement on cooperation and partnership between the Transcarpathian and Lugansk regional military administrations. "West and East are together," Gaidai wrote.

10:39 A technopark will be made from Azovstal in Mariupol, "there will be jobs there," said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin. He also assured that the first residential buildings in Mariupol will be commissioned in September, and the population of the city by 2035 will increase from 212 to 500 thousand people.

10:14 As a result of Russian shelling of Saltovka in Kharkiv, two people were injured, one of them died in the hospital. Also, one person in Merefa was injured by the shells of the invaders, one person died in the Bogodukhovsky district, said the head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Sinegubov.

09:49 The Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that the first ship with Ukrainian grain left the port of Odessa - it will reach Istanbul on August 2 and pass inspection there. Sudono is carrying 26,000 tons of corn to Lebanese Tripoli.

Also in the Saltovsky district in the courtyard of a high-rise building, a person was injured and cars were damaged, Mayor Igor Terekhov said.

09:17 Tonight Russians fired at a number of civilian objects in Nikolaev among which a new trauma center. The building was partially destroyed, windows in neighboring medical departments flew out from the shock wave and debris. The staff and patients were not injured, said the mayor of the city Alexander Senkevich.

09:03 The General Staff announced the approximate losses of the enemy on the morning of August 1. The enemy suffered the greatest losses in the Donetsk and Krivoy Rog directions.

08:58 Great Britain will provide warships to Ukraine, Ukrainian Ambassador to London Vadim Prystaiko said in an interview with Suspіlny. According to him, these will be anti-mine ships, so far we are talking about the transfer of two ships - the Ukrainian military is already being trained on them. The ships will be updated and will add equipment needed by Ukraine.

08:50 British intelligence reports that over the past four days, Russia continued to make tactical attacks in the Bakhmut direction northeast of Donetsk, but moved slowly. The Russian Federation is likely to move a significant part of its forces from the northern sector of Donbass to southern Ukraine and is adjusting the operational plan of its advance into Donbass after failing to achieve a decisive operational breakthrough in accordance with the plan it has been following since April. Analysts believe that, most likely, Russia has identified the Zaporozhye front as a vulnerable area that needs to be strengthened.

08:39 The Russians made three attempts at tank pressure in the Luhansk region, used air support for assault operations three times, and in all cases were forced to retreat to previously occupied positions, said the head of the Luhansk OVA, Sergei Gaidai.

08:36 In the Donetsk region, three civilians per day died from Russian shelling - two in Bakhmut and one in Soledar. Another 16 people were injured, Pavel Kirilenko, head of the OVA, said.

08:30 In Kharkiv, the invaders attacked the Saltovsky district, two people were injured, the head of the OVA Oleg Sinegubov said.

08:22 In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russians fired at two districts at night - Nikopol and Krivoy Rog. In particular, more than 60 shots from Gradov were recorded at Marganets and the Krasnogrigoryevsk community. Two people were wounded, one of them in serious condition, said the head of the OVA, Valentin Reznichenko.

08:16 The first ship with grain from the port of Odessa will leave for Lebanon today at 8:30, the Turkish Defense Ministry reports with reference to the Joint Coordination Center. In particular, the dry cargo ship RAZONI under the flag of Sierra Leone, loaded by Egypt, will leave the port.

08:01 During the five months of a full-scale war, Russians attacked civilian objects 60 times more often than military ones. According to the Center for Counteracting Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, the invaders inflicted 17.3 thousand strikes on civilian targets and about 300 on military ones. According to the National Security and Defense Council, the Kremlin expects that the shelling will encourage local residents to stop resistance.

07:45 The Russians are advancing in the Bakhmut area, assault operations were carried out in the direction of Vershina and Soledar, they were not successful, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in the morning report . In the Avdeevsky direction, the enemy launched an air strike in the Veseloye area, led an assault in the direction of Pesok, also unsuccessfully. In the Maryinka area, the enemy tried to conduct reconnaissance in force, and withdrew.

06:32 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) notes that Russian troops have held positions in the Balakleya and Bolshaya Kamyshevakhi areas for several months and can use these two areas as springboards for an offensive operation. In particular, they can use their positions in the Balakleya area to resume the assault on Kharkov from the southeast. At the same time, it is very unlikely that Russian forces will capture the Kharkiv region or Kharkiv, given the pace of Russia's advance in the Donbass and problems with the formation of forces and logistics, experts say.

Russian troops resumed local ground attacks northwest and southwest of Izyum. In recent days, they have already made unsuccessful attempts at assault and combat reconnaissance in the direction of Chepyl, Shchurovka and Gusarovka (north-west of Izyum) and resumed assaults in the direction of Dmitrovka and Brazhkovka (south-west of Izyum).

In addition, the Russians continued ground attacks northwest of Slavyansk, northeast of Seversk, east and south of Bakhmut. They made minor gains in the Avdiivka area and continued their ground attacks towards Avdiivka and Peski.

02:14 Mayor of Nikolaev Alexander Senkevich reported that the city is under attack again - powerful explosions thundered in different areas.

00:07 US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink reacted to the shelling of the colony in Yelenovka: "The shelling of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka is unacceptable, as is the message about the barbaric treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian military. We will continue to seek accountability and provide Ukraine with what it needs to defend against Moscow's horrendous aggression".

-Short Attention Span Theater-
The U.S. Air Force's Last Tail Gunner Has Retired
[TheDrive] Chief Master Sergeant Rob Wellbaum had been the last airman still on duty to have served as an aerial defense gunner.

Whenever someone retires, it marks the end of an era in their personal life. When U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Rob Wellbaum leaves the service he’ll end an entire era of aerial combat as America’s last bomber tail gunner.

On May 12, 2017, Wellbaum retired after three decades in the Air Force. When he first joined up in 1987, the non-commissioned officer had signed up for Specialty Code 111X0—Aerial Defense Gunner.

“I went into the recruiter’s office and asked them what jobs they had for enlisted [personnel] to fly,” Wellbaum recalled in an interview. “My recruiter listed off loadmaster, boom operator, and B-52 aerial defensive gunner. The gunner job sounded like the coolest job out of the three so that is what I applied for.”

For the next five years, he served in that role on a B-52 Stratofortress bomber. This aircraft – more lovingly referred to as the Big Ugly Fat Fellow, or BUFF – was the last in service to even have a tail gun.

Iraq
CF smashed the ‘independent government' with shoes, Al-Sadr's spokesperson
[SHAFAQ] The spokesperson for Moqtada Tater al-Sadr
...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival al-Khoei assassinated shortly after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
, Salah al-Obeidi, said that the Shiite Coordination Framework (CF) "smashed" the project of forming an independent government after naming Muhammad Shia al-Sudani for prime minister.

Al-Obaidi said in a statement, "The Frameworks' calls for dialogue are a new attempt to defraud, far from their suggestion to form the next government exclusively from independent figures."

He added, "The Framework forces started scrambling for positions, so they announced al-Sudani as their candidate, a step smashed the project of the independent government with shoes and distributed the positions among them so that the candidate of the doomed (Nuri al-Maliki) would win.

Tensions have worsened since an October election in which al-Sadr's movement emerged as the biggest bloc with 74 of parliament's 329 seats.

After failing to overturn the result in the courts, the Iran-backed factions set about stymying al-Sadr's efforts to form a government that would include his Kurdish and Sunni allies but excludes groups he described as corrupt or loyal to external forces.

Despite their diminished numbers in parliament, the Iran-aligned groups managed to frustrate al-Sadr by denying the two-thirds quorum needed to elect a Kurdish head of state - the first step towards forming a government.

Frustrated at the deadlock, Sadr instructed his politicians to quit parliament in June. The move ceded dozens of seats to the Coordination Framework, meaning it could try to form a government of its choosing, though this would risk al-Sadr's wrath.

Al-Sadr's rivals then floated a candidate, Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, seen by al-Sadr's supporters as a Maliki loyalist. This step appears to have been the final straw for Sadr supporters, igniting the protests.

In a statement he issued earlier today, al-Sadr, the arch-foe of the Shiite Coordination Framework, instructed his followers to push for a complete overhaul of the political system, including a new constitution, and expel the country's elites whom he condemned as "corrupt."

In response, the Coordination Framework said it will defend "the legitimacy of the Iraqi state" against Moqtada al-Sadr's calls to "overthrow the state and constitution," calling for mass counter-demonstrations today.

Strategic Petroleum Reserve falls to lowest level in 37 years.
[MarketScreener] The U.S. emergency crude oil stockpile fell by 4.6 million barrels last week to its lowest level since May 1985, according to the Department of Energy on Monday.

Crude held in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) dropped to 469.9 million barrels for the week ended July 29, according to DOE data, in the smallest weekly withdrawal since May.

U.S. President Joe Biden in March set a plan to release 1 million barrels per day (bpd) over six months from the SPR to tackle high fuel prices contributing to soaring inflation.

The SPR held about 618 million barrels last September and its stocks have declined due to sales from congressional mandates and Biden's price initiative. U.S. gasoline prices are about 40 cents a gallon lower than what they would have been without the sales, the White House said last week https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2022/07/26/fact-sheet-department-of-energy-releases-new-notice-of-sale-as-gasoline-prices-continue-to-fall.

Since May, releases have averaged 880,000 bpd, not meeting the 1 million bpd plan. A DOE spokesperson said the slowdown had occurred because the July 4 holiday and use of an additive to cool crude for transportation had affected some deliveries.

The oil is sold to accredited oil companies via online auctions and prices are set using a five-day average bracketing the date of delivery.

Oil companies have not always bought all the crude on offer during the Biden administration's release. For instance, the department said that only about 39 million barrels had been bought in a round in which it had offered 45 million barrels.

The Energy department has proposed to replenish the SPR by allowing it to enter contracts to purchase oil in future years at fixed, preset prices. The administration said it believes the plan would help boost domestic oil production.

Refiner Valero Energy's chief commercial officer, Gary Simmons, last week said he expected lower volumes to be released from the SPR in the future, as demand forecasts had been lowered. Maloney, Nadler tied while Patel surges in House primary race: poll
Ohio is holding the second half of their primaries today...
[NYPOST] The epic Democratic primary fight between veteran New York Reps. Carolyn Maloney and Jerrold Nadler is a toss-up, according to a new internal poll from challenger Suraj Patel — which shows him surging.

The survey released by the Patel campaign Monday shows septuagenarians Maloney and Nadler tied with 31% of the vote apiece. Patel’s support, meanwhile, rose to 25% from 19% in June, with 13% of Democrats still undecided ahead of the Aug. 23 primary.

The Democrats’ gerrymandering debacle ended up pitting Maloney and Nadler — longtime allies who’ve served in the House of Representatives together since 1993 — against each other.

Judges knocked out the Democrat-drawn maps — which Republicans derided as the "Hochulmander" because Gov. Kathy Hochul approved them — finding them unconstitutional.

As a result, a court-ordered special master merged Maloney’s East Side turf with Nadler’s West Side base, setting up a battle royal in the new 12th Congressional District.

The Patel campaign survey was conducted by Whitman Insight Strategies, whose founders have polled for former Mayor Mike Bloomberg

69 foreign vessels remain blocked in the seaports of Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[REGNUM] A total of 69 foreign ships from 15 countries of the world remain blocked in the seaports of Ukraine, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev , head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, said at a briefing on the evening of August 1 .

Vessels are blocked in the ports of Nikolaev, Chernomorsk, Ochakov, Odessa and Yuzhny.

Recall that on August 1, the port of Odessa was able to leave the first foreign vessel. This became possible within the framework of a multilateral agreement between Russia, Turkey, the UN and Ukraine.

Nevertheless, the danger from Ukrainian sea mines remains in the waters of almost all Black Sea states.

Ukrainian sea mines continue to pose a danger to shipping

[REGNUM] Ukrainian mines torn from anchor are drifting along the coast of the Black Sea states, creating a danger to navigation, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Center for Defense Control of the Russian Federation, said at a briefing on the evening of August 1.

"There is also a danger to navigation and damage to port infrastructure from the drift of Ukrainian mines torn from anchor along the coast of the Black Sea states," he said.

Mizintsev noted that the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have organized the operation of two maritime humanitarian corridors for the safe movement of ships.

"As part of the implementation of the “Initiative of Mutual Understanding for the Safe Transportation of Grain from the Ports of Ukraine" on July 30, 2022 in Istanbul by the Joint Coordination Center for ensuring the safe passage of ships, their inspection, resolving issues of mine clearance and preventing dangerous incidents (Russian Federation, Republic of Turkey, Ukraine and the UN) developed and agreed on the route of the humanitarian corridor for the safe movement of ships carrying out the export of grain crops and mineral fertilizers from the ports of Ukraine," he added.

Prosecutor General: the cause of the explosion in Yelenovka was the thermobaric weapon of the Russian Federation

[Vesti] Kostin stressed that the premises were definitely not destroyed by missiles.

The premises of the Yelenovskaya colony, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, were destroyed not by rockets, but by Russian thermobaric weapons. This was stated by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin on the air of the telethon.

"The preliminary conclusions of our international experts indicate that thermobaric weapons were the cause of this murder or the method of this murder. These are the preliminary conclusions of several international experts ," the prosecutor general said.

Kostin stressed that this, of course, is not a rocket attack. International experts are sure of this.

"This is also confirmed by the information that the pre-trial investigation bodies are currently working on under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office ," the head of the UCP added.

As for specific individuals, urgent investigative actions have been started, they are ongoing, but this issue is more complex, Kostin noted.

"In my opinion, the priority now is to expose Russian propaganda and disinformation about a possible undermining of the building by HIMARS missile systems, that they are now trying to assert. But I want to say again that we already have preliminary conclusions from international experts that this was a consequence of the use of thermobaric weapons, which is used by the aggressor country ," summed up Kostin.

China Threatens to Retaliate by sending Pelosi back to the US
The Onion
BEIJING; Warning the United States that the House Speaker would be spared, China reportedly threatened to retaliate Thursday for Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taiwan by letting her return safely. "Should Nancy Pelosi follow through with her planned trip to Taiwan, China will be forced to take the hostile measure to weaken America by allowing her to return unscathed," said President Xi Jinping, warning that any move by Pelosi to legitimize the Taiwanese regime would be met with a first class ticket back so that she is well-rested and ready to return to legislative matters. "The folly of America's intransigence on China's territorial claims will be be made clear when Ms. Pelosi is permitted to set foot back on U.S. soil and continue to shape national policy. We have the entire might of the Chinese military standing by ready to defend Ms. Pelosi from any possible threat." At press time, Chinese leadership was tested in their resolve to keep Pelosi alive after hearing her speak.

Talcum X Uses $40k of BLM Grift Money to Buy a Dog
[Washington Free Beacon] Shaun King's social justice PAC is going to the dogs. Literally.

Grassroots Law PAC, which the progressive grifter founded to elect soft-on-crime local officials, paid roughly $40,000 since December to the California-based Potrero Performance Dogs, according to campaign finance disclosures. The payments are labeled for "contractor services," making their purpose difficult to discern. But days after a $30,650 payment in February, King welcomed a "new member of the King family": an award-winning mastiff bred by Potrero named Marz.
Really, when they re-purpose this money to their private lives, at least it's not going to fcuk up our society.
King, who has been hounded
*giggle*
for years by allegations of fraud, has not been accused of any wrongdoing in relation to Grassroots Law. But the payments for a dog raises questions about whether the former Bernie Sanders surrogate is using PAC contributions the way donors intended.

"This luxury dog expense may not be illegal for a PAC, but it shows little respect for King's donors," said Scott Walter, the president of Capital Research Center, which investigates left-wing groups. An heiress of the Hormel meatpacking empire is the PAC's largest donor. Facebook cofounder Dustin Moskovitz and his wife donated millions of dollars to Real Justice PAC, which King launched in 2018 and works closely with Grassroots Law.

Grassroots Law PAC, which aims to "elect candidates who are committed to reducing mass incarceration and police violence," has spent nearly as much on King's pet as it has on political candidates. The PAC has contributed around $56,000 to political candidates since 2021. It paid $10,000 to Potrero in December and another $30,650 on Feb. 16.

King has come under fire over the years amid repeated failures at his various social justice endeavors. The mother of Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old Ohio boy killed by police, said King "robbed" her by holding unauthorized fundraisers in her son's name. A former King ally, DeRay Mckesson, has publicly accused him of fraud. Real Justice PAC was ordered in December to pay $30,000 to the city of Philadelphia for campaign finance violations in the race to elect District Attorney Larry Krasner (D.).

King has denied allegations of fraud, chalking his failed projects up to poor management or false claims from his enemies. He released an audit in 2019 that said he received a $4,166 monthly salary from Real Justice PAC and "no compensation at all" from Action PAC, the predecessor to Grassroots Law PAC. He said he was "literally the only person" on Action PAC's staff who does not get paid.

"I have not received a salary or a stipend of any kind for the entire year," he claimed. "I do it all for free."

While King said Marz would provide "alertness and protection" alongside duties as a family pet, it appears the thoroughbred is no longer in the activist's care. Potrero Performance Dogs showed Marz at an American Kennel Club competition earlier this month, where he won Best in Show. The breeder said in a social media post this month that Marz was back in its care because "he's got a little too much energy to be a family dog so he came back."

Potrero, Grassroots Law, and King's media company did not respond to requests for comment.

Bath soap like Irish Spring now at 60% size, or the Sarento Cheese slices now 10 per package, down from 12 a year ago. But what I have noticed most recently is packaged food product with visible damage offered at full price. Things that two years ago would have been taken off Quality Control lines now passed. Dented cans, torn or damaged boxes still on the shelves. This is the sign of shortages and empty supply chains. What likely follows is empty shelves. Welcome to the Soviet Shopping Experience...

Terror Networks
US officials say ONLY Zawahiri was killed i.e., not Siraj Haqqani’s son, as is being reported
Follow up to yesterday evening’s breaking report:
[PUBLISH.TWITTER]

Dawn’s take from next door in Pakistan:
Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri
...Formerly second in command of al-Qaeda, now the head cheese, occasionally described as the real brains of the outfit. Formerly the Mister Big of Egyptian Islamic Jihad. Bumped off Abdullah Azzam with a car boom in the course of one of their little disputes. Is thought to have composed bin Laden's fatwa entitled World Islamic Front Against Jews and Crusaders. Currently residing in the North Wazoo area assuming he's not dead like Mullah Omar. He lost major face when he ordered the nascent Islamic State to cease and desist and merge with the orthodox al-Qaeda spring, al-Nusra...
was killed in a US strike in Afghanistan over the weekend, American President Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant. Just look at the competent way he dumped Afghanistan...
said on Monday.

Zawahiri, an Egyptian surgeon who had a $25 million bounty on his head, helped coordinate the Sept 11, 2001, attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people.

US officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the United States carried out a dronezap in the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday morning at 6:18am local time.

"Now justice has been delivered, and this terrorist leader is no more," Biden said in remarks from the White House. "We never back down."

US intelligence determined with "high confidence" that the man killed was Zawahiri, a senior administration official told news hounds. No other casualties occurred.

"Zawahiri continued to pose an active threat to US persons, interests and national security," the official said on a conference call. "His death deals a significant blow to al Qaeda and will degrade the group's ability to operate."

There were rumors of Zawahiri's death several times in recent years, and he was long reported to have been in poor health.

His death raises questions about whether Zawahiri received sanctuary from the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
following their takeover of Kabul in August 2021. The official said senior Taliban officials were aware of his presence in the city.

The drone attack is the first known US strike inside Afghanistan since US troops and diplomats left the country in August 2021.

In a statement, Taliban front man Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed that a strike took place and strongly condemned it, calling it a violation of "international principles."

The senior US official said finding Zawahiri was the result of persistent counterterrorism work. The United States identified this year that Zawahiri's wife, daughter and her children had relocated to a safe house in Kabul, then identified that Zawahiri was there as well, the official said.

"Once Zawahiri arrived at the location, we are not aware of him ever leaving the safe house," the official said. He was identified multiple times on the balcony, where he was ultimately struck. He continued to produce videos from the house and some may be released after his death, the official said.

In the last few weeks, Biden convened officials to scrutinise the intelligence. He was updated throughout May and June and was briefed on July 1 on a proposed operation by intelligence leaders. On July 25, he received an updated report and authorised the strike once an opportunity was available.

A loud explosion echoed through Kabul early Sunday morning.

"A house was hit by a rocket in Sherpoor. There were no casualties as the house was empty," Abdul Nafi Takor, front man of the interior ministry, said earlier.

One Taliban source, requesting anonymity, said there had been reports of at least one drone flying over Kabul that morning.

With other senior al Qaeda members, Zawahiri is believed to have plotted the October 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole naval vessel in Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
which killed 17 US sailors and injured more than 30 others, the Rewards for Justice website said.

He was indicted in the United States for his role in the August 7, 1998, bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania that killed 224 people and maimed more than 5,000 others.

Both bin laden and Zawahiri eluded capture when US-led forces toppled Afghanistan’s Taliban government in late 2001 following the Sept 11 attacks on the United States.

Home Front: WoT
Iran attempts assassination of dissident in NYC
[NYPost] A man armed with a loaded AK-47 was arrested on Thursday outside of the Brooklyn home of Iranian dissident journalist Masih Alinejad, according to sources and charging documents.

Khalid Mehdiyev, 23, was found with the assault rifle, a high-capacity magazine and more than $1,000 worth of cash when he was arrested after lurking for two days, according to a federal complaint.
Really, the lady is an attractive nuisance. All the authorities need do is put a team on overwatch, then pick up the next one Iran sends to take her off the board.
The complaint makes no explicit connection between Mehdiyev and Alinejad but says the accused had focused on an unnamed Brooklyn "residence."

Law enforcement observed Mehdiyev sitting in a gray Subaru Forester SUV with an Illinois license plate for several hours on Wednesday and Thursday. Feds said he ordered food to his car and looked inside of the windows and attempted to open the front door of the residence he was parked outside of, the complaint rael adds:says.
Mehdiyev is being held by Federal officials; the NYC justice didn't have time to release him apparently.
It looks like this one took all those American teevee cop shows as his model for how a successful assassin behaves.
The Times of Israel adds:
Khalid Mehdiyev was seen behaving suspiciously outside the home of Iranian dissident Masih Alinejad for two days last week. On Thursday, he parked his Subaru Forester SUV outside her home and was said to peek through the windows of the house and try to open the front door, according to a criminal complaint filed in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

Mehdiyev was pulled over and arrested by New York City police for running a stop sign and driving without a valid license. Law enforcement then found him in possession of a suitcase containing the loaded rifle and $1,100 in $100 bills, the complaint said.

He has since been charged with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, and is being held without bail. Mehdiyev’s attorney Stephanie Marie Carvlin did not comment to US media on the matter.

The 45-year-old journalist left Iran
...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence...
in 2009, studied in Britannia and worked for the US government-backed Voice of America’s Persian-language service.

Since 2014, Alinejad also has maintained a Facebook campaign, "My Stealthy Freedom," to support Iranian women who don’t want to wear the hijab covering — required for women in the country.

Volgograd resident convicted of participation in ISIS
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The court sentenced a 25-year-old native of Volgograd to four years in prison, finding her involved in the activities of the Islamic State* terrorist organization in Syria, the FSB reported.

According to investigators, the 25-year-old native of Volgograd was in Syria from March 2015 to August 2021, where she took part in the activities of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization, which is banned by the court in Russia.
Elsewhere than Russia too, for all the good banning does.
In 2021, the suspect was detained at Vnukovo Airport in Moscow. During interrogation, she admitted her guilt and spoke about how she prepared for a trip to Syria, about the route of this trip, places of residence and her role in a terrorist organization, Interfax reported today with reference to the press service of the FSB department in the Volgograd region.
Sang like a canary, did she? Good.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found the native of Volgograd guilty under part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization”) and part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of an illegal armed formation”) and sentenced her to four years imprisonment in a general regime colony, the report said.

There were no comments from the defendant's lawyers regarding the court's decision.

Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization”) provides for up to 20 years in prison. Part 2 of Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Organization of an illegal armed group”) provides for up to 15 years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" also wrote that on December 18, 2020, it became known that a court in Rostov-on-Don passed a sentence on a resident of the Volgograd region, Maria Podobedova,
Finally — a name!
for transferring 10,500 rubles to the account of an ISIS participant. The court sentenced her to five years in prison.

Government Corruption
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney's use of campaign funds for ex 'body man' raises ethics questions
[NYPOST] Ethics experts are questioning whether the head of congressional Democrats’ campaign arm, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, used his House and campaign cash for "personal services" with the hiring of an aide — who told The Post his role was to serve as the politician’s "body man."

Maloney (D-NY) — who in 2020 became chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee — hired lifelong Floridian Harold Leath, for whom Maloney’s campaign forked over the money for the move north, in 2014, records show.

The "unusual" and "strange" description of Leath’s role and his whereabouts raised numerous "red flags," that may be worth a probe, political spending experts and federal ethics watchdogs told The Post.

Leath — who, when he first moved to New York, registered to vote at the Putnam County house where Maloney and his husband lived — began his tenure with the congressman that spring as an "executive assistant" in his government office, House spending records show. He then was classified by expenditure reports as a part-time employee and campaign worker.

Reps for Maloney maintained to The Post that there was no wrongdoing by Maloney or the campaign in connection with Leath’s hiring and role.

Leath recently explained his job as a "body man" for the politician.

China won't 'sit idly by' as new report claims Pelosi will visit Taiwan
[NYPOST] House Speaker Nancy San Fran Nan Pelosi
Congresswoman-for-Life from the San Francisco Bay Area, born into a family of professional politicians. On-again-off-again Speaker of the House. It's not her fault when they lose, but it's her accomplishment when they win. Noted for her heavily botoxed grimace and occasional senior... uhhh... moments...
will visit Taiwan on her current swing through Asia despite escalating threats from China, which views the island nation as part of its territory, according to a new report.

CNN
...the organization formerly known as the Cable News Network. Now who knows what it might stand for...
, citing a senior Taiwanese government official and a US official, reported that Pelosi’s trip would include an overnight stay — though the report did not mention when the visit would take place.

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
a Chinese Foreign Ministry rep warned Monday that Beijing’s military would "not sit idly by" if Pelosi (D-Calif.) enters Taiwan.

Zhao Lijian also declared that due to Pelosi’s status as the "No. 3 official of the U.S. government," a Taiwan visit would "lead to egregious political impact."

Meanwhile,
...back at the comedy club, Boogie was cracking himself up, but nobody else seemed to be getting the non-stop jokes...
Taiwanese outlet SET News reported Monday that Taipei’s Ministry of National Defense had canceled leave for some officers and soldiers and put the country’s air force on a war footing. The outlet also indicated that Pelosi would arrive in Taiwan at some point Tuesday night.

In a statement Sunday, Pelosi’s office listed Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan as countries on her itinerary. The statement did not mention Taiwan, but that does not mean the speaker has ruled out traveling there.

'The leader's advisor' commends the PMF's neutrality

...hereditary Iraqi holy man and leader of a political movement in Iraq. He had his hereditary rival al-Khoei assassinated shortly after the holy rival's appearance out of exile in 2003. Formerly an Iranian catspaw, lately he's gagged over some of their more outlandish antics, then went back to catspawry...
on Monday commended the neutrality of al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces-PMF) amid the ongoing row between "the camps of reform and [Coordination] Framework", lamenting the assaults waged by the anti-Sadrists against the law enforcement.

Mohammed Salih al-Iraqi, who runs a Twitter account named "the leader's advisor" and widely believed to be the holy man's mouthpiece, "it is lamentable to see some demonstrators, Framework, assaulting the security forces and anti-riot...the security forces are the wall of the homeland."

"We value the attitude of our brothers in al-Hashd al-Shaabi who maintained neutrality between the two camps: the camp of reform and the camp of the Framework," he added.

Kirby Says U.S. Doesn't ‘Support Taiwan Independence' as China Threatens Pelosi ahead of Expected Taiwan Trip
[NATIONALREVIEW] National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters Monday that the U.S. does not "support Taiwan independence," amid heightened threats from China about Nancy Pelosi’s reported trip to the island."Nothing has changed about our ’One China Policy,'" Kirby said. "We have repeatedly said that we oppose any unilateral changes to the status quo from either side. We have said that we do not support Taiwan independence, and we have said that we expect cross-straight differences to be resolved by peaceful means."

President Joe Biden issued a similar statement to Chinese president Xi Jinping on Thursday, saying the U.S. stands firmly behind its "One China Policy."

Chinese foreign minister Zhao Lijian has issued repeated, direct threats to Pelosi and the U.S. telling her to not visit Taiwan, saying China would take "resolute responses and strong countermeasures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity."

Kirby said China has been escalating its military presence in the region, conducting a "live fire exercise" over the weekend.

"China appears to be positioning itself to potentially take further steps in the coming days and, perhaps, over longer time horizons," Kirby added, noting the potential steps from China could include military provocations, "operations that break historical norms," air or naval activities, and military exercises.

The Chinese military posted a video Monday showing the military conducting exercises with warships and fighter planes and sending missiles into the sky.

Pelosi, who third in line for the presidency after Biden and Kamala Harris, would be the highest-ranking official to visit Taiwan since former speaker Newt Gingrich in 1997.Pelosi’s office confirmed Sunday that she would be leading a delegation to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan. Her office did not say whether she would be visiting Taiwan, however, two sources briefed on the matter, told Reuters that she is "set to visit Taiwan on Tuesday."

Kirby said Pelosi can make her own decisions about the trip and that "Congress is an independent branch of government." Biden has not issued a public statement condemning her trip, saying "the military thinks [the trip is] not a good idea right now."

Russia silent as Red Cross, UN demand access to prison where dozens of Ukrainian POWs killed
[NYPOST] The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
and the Red Thingy demanded access Saturday to the prison where dozens of Ukrainian POWs were killed, but Russia has so far met their requests with silence.

The UN wants to investigate the attack in the town of Olenivka in Russian-occupied eastern Ukraine, which Moscow said killed 53 Ukrainian POWs and maimed another 75.

Ukraine maintains that Thursday night’s deadly shelling was a "war crime," while Russia claims Ukraine launched the missiles that destroyed the building. Both sides say the attack was premeditated and intended to silence the prisoners inside and destroy evidence of potential atrocities.

"We are ready to send a team of experts capable of conducting an investigation with the permission of the parties," Farhan Haq, deputy front man of the UN Secretary-General, told Russian media. He said the probe would require consent from all sides, and added that the UN supports the Red Thingy’ efforts to gain access to the site.

The prison housed nearly 200 troops captured in Mariupol, the scene of many of the war’s worst atrocities, including many who held out in the Azovstal steel plant outside the city during weeks of brutal fighting.

#4  Saw those, Thing. Also saw some MAXAR satellite images that showed little if no collateral damage for areas adjacent to the structure.

Explosion damage appears way too large for UA drone-carried munitions. Artillery, along with HIMARS, are systems that would leave a ground crater. For a single fired munition to do the damage shown, it would have to have quite a bit of explosive. That would leave a sizeable crater when it struck.

There appears to be no crater in either the Russian supplied photos of the building's exterior/interior or any satellite imaging.
Posted by: Mullah Richard || 08/02/2022 10:30 Comments || Top||

#5  Also looks like the explosion(s) blew more up and out as the floor areas don't appear to be badly damaged, even for Soviet-era concrete (other than some concrete 'spalling' from an intense shock-wave), other than from intense heat. That would mean the explosive(s) was(were) situated somewhat above ground level when detonation occurred.

It looks like the explosion generated some pretty intense heat, more than a standard munition. Fuel-Air (vacuum) explosive?

#6  The Red Cross mentioned here is not the actually useful American Red Cross, but instead the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), famous for using ambulances for weapons delivery and as battle taxis for transporting jihadis. As for the UN, I would not trust them to investigate the source of dog pooh in my yard. Your mileage and opinions may vary.

In Bakhmut, rescuers extinguished two fires caused by Russian shelling, there is a casualty
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[LB] The man received a shrapnel injury to the lower limb.

by Vera Perun

Russian occupation forces shelled Bakhmut in Donetsk region . Two fires broke out from the shelling .

This was reported in the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.

According to rescuers, one department was extinguishing a fire in two adjacent private residential buildings.

"Rescuers from the scene of the fire hospitalized a man, born in 1991, who, as a result of the shelling, received a shrapnel injury to his lower limb and needed urgent medical assistance," - the State Emergency Service said.

The fire was localized and extinguished. 12 personnel and two pieces of equipment were involved in the rescue work.

We will remind you that the other day the Russian occupiers shelled Bakhmut four times with "hurricanes" . People died, several were injured.

Before that, a hotel in the city was attacked by agarbniki . A man was rescued from the rubble and hospitalized in a medical facility. One person died, 4 others were injured.

The Russians are ready to return the bodies of Ukrainian prisoners of war killed in Olenivka -- Lubinets

[LB] It is currently unknown when the bodies will be handed over.

Oleksandr Kravchenko

The Russian occupiers are ready to hand over the bodies of prisoners of war defenders of Mariupol who were killed in Yelenovka. The invaders said they would do it "after the investigation is over."

This was announced by the Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets , on the air of the telethon.

"I can report that we received a signal that they (the Russians - ed.) are ready to return the bodies of our heroes, but the wording is that after the end of the investigation. We have not yet received an answer to clarify how much time is needed for the investigation. But we are waiting," the ombudsman said.

He added that they refused to provide him with information about what is happening with specific Azov residents. We are ready to give this information only to relatives of prisoners of war.

"As an ombudsman, I can only get general information about the dead and wounded," Lubinets clarified.

The ombudsman emphasized that in recent days, the relatives of the captured "Azovians" have been calling the hotline of the International Committee of the Red Cross around the clock , and that during informal communication ICRC representatives assure that they are "doing everything to provide the relatives with information."

Lubinets also refused to say whether he knew about the whereabouts of the commander of the "Azovians" Denys Prokopenko and the commander of the 36th separate marine brigade of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Serhii Volynskyi (Volyn), in order "not to interfere with the exchange."

We will remind, on July 29, a powerful explosion took place on the territory of the former correctional colony No. 120 in the city of Olenivka, which is currently used as a place of detention of Ukrainian prisoners of war .

As a result of the explosion, the premises where the captured Ukrainians were located was destroyed. According to Russian sources, about 40 Ukrainians were killed , the number of wounded - to be specified.

It is noted that the explosions took place on the territory of the industrial zone in a newly built building, which was supposed to be specially equipped to hold prisoners taken out of Azovstal. The equipment of the building was completed 2 days ago, after which some of the detained Ukrainian defenders were transferred to it.

"We emphasize that the explosions in Olenivka, which led to the death of Ukrainian defenders, are a deliberate provocation and an undeniable act of terrorism on the part of the armed forces of the occupier," the Ministry of Defense said.

According to the available information, it was carried out by the hands of mercenaries from the "Wagner" (League) PMC under the personal command of the nominal owner of the specified PMC - Yevhen Prigozhin. The organization and implementation of the terrorist attack were not coordinated with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Government Corruption
What if They Gave a War and Everybody Was Woke?
[WSJ] Is the U.S. prepared for battle? By one measure, military recruitment, the answer appears to be no. Nearly every branch has struggled to meet its recruitment goals for 2022, with some falling as short as 40%. Worse yet, only about a quarter of America’s youth meet current eligibility standards—and recent surveys show only 9% are even interested.

Military leadership primarily blames this slump on two causes: teen obesity rates and the tight labor market. But data for both claims can’t paint the full picture. Teen obesity did increase during the pandemic, to 22% from 19%. But that jump likely can’t account for the sudden and widespread collapse in recruitment. Neither can the labor market. The unemployment rate today sits at 3.6%—roughly the same as in 2019. Yet in 2019 the Army exceeded its recruiting goals. It’s falling perilously short today and will be understrength by 28,000 troops by the end of 2023. The military’s benefits—including child care, housing allowances, medical coverage and large bonuses, up to $50,000—should also help insulate it from the pitfalls of hiring young recruits in a tight labor market.

What, then, explains the shift? Perhaps one answer lies in the Pentagon’s wholesale embrace of woke politics.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran vows to build nukes if provoked, turn NY into 'hellish ruins'
[NYPOST] Iran
...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both...
has reportedly threatened to build nuclear warheads and warned that it has the capability to turn New York into "hellish ruins" — amid stalled efforts to reinstate a nuclear deal between the county and world powers.

Two Telegram channels with ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps posted a 2-minute video Saturday that vowed to quickly start building nuclear bombs if the "US or Zionist regime make any stupid mistakes," according to Iran International, a London-based news outlet.

The video claims secret underground facilities in Fordow, near Qom, are close to working to turn the Islamic Theocratic Republic into a nuclear power — and warned that its "peaceful nuclear program" could morph into a weaponized one with ease.

"The nuclear facilities of Fordow have been built deep under mountains of Iran and are protected against trench-busting bombs and even nuclear explosion," the video reportedly states. "All infrastructures required for nuclear breakout have been prepared in it."

The haunting video also claims that the Islamic Theocratic Republic has ballistic missiles capable of "turning New York into hellish ruins."

#8  I mean, if you're the dictator of a major totalitarian state and you want to interfere in an American election, you release a bio-weapon and bribe election officials in certain key cities to use Dominion voting machines and to count bogus mail-in ballots. Trolls are kid stuff.

Commentary by Russian blogger Andrey Chervonets

[Chernovec] Pristina decided to postpone for 30 days the introduction of new rules for the entry of Serbs into Kosovo, planned from August 1.

Previously, it was decided that from today the identity cards issued by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs should be considered invalid, and all cars should be re-registered to Kosovo numbers.

These requirements also apply to ethnic Serbs living in the region and their relatives from central Serbia. Such measures will significantly complicate the life of the Serbian population of the region and are in fact a violation of the Brussels agreements.

Yesterday, Pristina unilaterally closed the Brnjak and Yarinje border checkpoints, and also suspended the passage of cars with Serbian license plates through the Rudnica checkpoint. Kosovo security forces were pulled to the border, and the Serbian army was put on alert.

The reaction of the Serbs was very sharp. Serbs in Kosovska Mitrovica built barricades on the road and prepared for clashes with the Kosovo security forces.

The 30 days for which the solution of the issue has been postponed is nothing more than a tactical pause on the part of the Kosovo authorities. They saw how strong the rejection of the abolition of Serbian passports, Serbian car numbers on the part of the Serbian community is. And they will prepare.

'Literally a war zone': Noem questions whether VP Harris is 'aware she's in charge' of border
[JustTheNews] In South Dakota, "the increase in illegal drugs and activity has been dramatic since we've seen this open border," said GOP Gov. Kristi Noem.

South Dakota Republican Gov. Kristi Noem questions whether Vice President Kamala Harris, whom President Biden put in charge of managing U.S.-Mexico border policy, even knows she's in charge because she's "seen no activity from her."

Noem, a potential 2024 GOP presidential candidate, was asked for her assessment of Harris' job performance as the border czar.

"I don't even know if she's aware she's in charge, because I've seen no activity for her," Noem told Just the News during a roundtable with journalists ahead of her keynote address at the Young America's Foundation student conference on Thursday. "It's unfortunate."

Republicans on Capitol Hill often say that every state is a border state, given that the Biden administration is allowing the release of millions of illegal immigrants into the U.S. after they arrive at the border to make an asylum claim. Noem elaborated on the challenges her state is facing with illegal immigration.

"I think what's happening at the border is completely different than just illegal immigration," she said. "This is a national security threat because we don't have a secure border.

"When Arizona and Texas requested help, I sent my National Guard. In fact, I was the first governor to send National Guard. Most other governors were responding with law enforcement, but recognizing the unique situation we have down there, it literally is a war zone, so we had members volunteer to go as a unit to partner with the Texas Guard and work with Border Patrol, and they were there for a period of time.

"And now I'll be sending down some of my National Guard, Lakota helicopters, to help us with surveillance, but for us in particular, you know, I telegraphed pretty widely to my NGOs and nonprofits that if they cooperated with facilitating people that were crossing the border illegally in our state, that they would have a difficult time with their state contracts and licenses if they worked to break our federal laws in partnership with what this administration is doing."

Noem also said her state is having difficulty with the illegal drugs and human trafficking coming across the border.

"The drugs and human trafficking are devastating for our state," she said "I have nine Native American tribes, and they are sovereign governments. I don't have any authority or jurisdiction on their lands. And a lot of the drugs and trafficking that's happening that go out throughout the Midwest are being funneled through my tribal reservations.

"So there's very little law and order there. There's a lot of poverty and wide open spaces, and we've got some of the cartels that have a presence in South Dakota on our reservation land, and a lot of those drugs are moving through those areas. And I have very little that I can do to address it, so the increase in illegal drugs and activity has been dramatic since we've seen this open border."

Just the News asked Noem if her state is accepting illegal immigrants via bus or plane from the border. Washington D.C. is accepting thousands, and Mayor Muriel Bowser is asking the Biden administration for help.

"We have not seen that," said Noem. "And I haven't had reports of that in our state. I think it's because I have been pretty open and aggressive with our nonprofits on their activities and involvement on how that would be received."

Government Corruption
Couple from Medicaid firm awarded millions in NY contracts delivered over $300K in donations to Hochul, Cuomo
[NYPOST] A couple with ties to a firm that’s been awarded hundreds of millions in Medicaid transportation contracts over the years has driven more than $300,000 combined into the campaign coffers of former Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo
...former Dem dynastic governor of Noo Yawk, the son and heir of the late Mario Cuoma and formerly married to a Kennedy. Acclaimed for his leadership during the COVID epidemic, he managed the nation's highest corpse count while successfully hiding the returns and writing a book praising himself. Among the nation's horniest politicians, he had about a dozen allegations of sexual harrassment and groping against him when he resigned...
and current Gov. Kathy Hochul, records reviewed by The Post reveal.

Critics say the donations are a textbook case of Albany’s pay-to-play culture that allows bidders and contractors to give massive campaign contributions to the governor whose agencies oversee them. By comparison, New York City law limits donations from bidders and contractors to the mayor and have business Big Apple agencies to $400.

The firm, Medical Answering Services, founded by president Russ Maxwell in 2004, was awarded eight contracts totaling $403.7 million by the state Health Department from 2011 through 2018. Four of the contracts don’t expire until next year.

Maxwell and his spouse, Morgan McDole, dropped $236,000 into Cuomo’s campaign coffers over those years.

The couple has also dumped more than $100,000 combined into the campaign coffers of Hochul, as governor and lieutenant governor under Cuomo — and the Hochul-controlled state Democratic Committee.

McDole, for instance, gave three contributions totaling $52,600 to Hochul over the past year — $22,600 on Jan. 8, 2021, $10,000 on Sept. 9, 2021 shortly after she became governor and $20,000 on April 24 of this year.

McDole donated another $20,000 to the Hochul-influenced state Democratic Party on April 27 of this year.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had a cup of coffee. Even instant would do...
Maxwell has donated $32,100 to Hochul since 2018 and $176,000 to Cuomo during his tenure. McDole donated another $60,000 to Cuomo.

"It’s a perfect example that shows how lax state campaign finance laws are," said John Kaehny, director of the government watchdog group Reinvent Albany.
