[Channel News Asia] French President Emmanuel Macron’s gamble to force unity through a snap election has failed. France looks more divided than ever after Sunday (Jul 7) and his own power is now diluted.
None of the three largest political blocs has enough seats to form a government on their own. The left-wing alliance New Popular Front (NFP) came in first by a small margin, while Mr Macron’s centrist Ensemble beat expectations to get ahead of the far-right National Rally (RN) party. But why should this matter to anyone outside the fray of French domestic politics?
One of Europe’s largest countries and a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council is heading for gridlock or political instability for the next three years, until Mr Macron’s final term ends in 2027.
The electoral result in France matters globally, for three reasons.
First, the French parliament election shows the political clout of populism remains strong globally - on both ends of the spectrum.
While many are relieved that voters denied the nationalist, anti-immigration RN party a majority, its success and growing influence cannot be denied. In 2017 at the beginning of Mr Macron’s first term, the far-right party had eight seats in parliament; today, it has 143 - its highest score ever.

In the movie "The Loves of Hercules", Jayne plays two parts, a good Queen and a bad Queen. She was about 2 or 3 months pregnant at the time so her breasts were even larger than normal at the time.
The movie has gaffes and logic flaws but it does have Jayne (the two Queens have different color hair) and you can, I think, watch it for free

09:24 The Ukrainian Armed Forces Command, responsible for the troop grouping in the Kupyansk direction, recognizes the successes of Russian forces near Sin'kovka and Petropavlovka in the Khar'kov region, said military expert, retired LPR People's Militia Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Marochko.
He added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants in the Kupyansk direction are in a low moral and psychological state.
09:15 Summary as of July 11, 2024 from war correspondent Evgeny Lisitsyn:
Khar'kov direction: the Russian army took advantage of the transfer of reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and increased the onslaught. The Russian Armed Forces crossed the Volchya River, creating a bridgehead in the west of the city and starting battles near the railway station. The Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from Gagarin and Dukhovnaya streets to the southern bank of the river and left the central high-rise buildings, retreating to the private sector;
Avdeevka direction: Russian attack aircraft are breaking through enemy defenses in several areas along the Novoaleksandrivka - Novoselovka Pervaya line;
Zaporizhia direction: the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the energy infrastructure of Energodar, causing power outages in the city;
Kupyansk-Svatovskoye direction: Russian troops are fighting on the Sin'kovka-Liman Pervy line and, according to some reports, have expanded their zone of control in the direction of Petropavlovka;
Aleksandro-Kalinovskoe direction: fighting is underway on the approaches to Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk). Russian troops are pushing the enemy out of positions in Druzhba, Kirovo and Novgorodskoe.
08:17 Enemy reports:
"The Russian Armed Forces took control of the village of Voskhod, almost the entire territory of Yevgenovka, and also advanced near New York. A gray zone was added in Krasnogorovka."
08:14 In the Volchansk direction, in the area of the settlement of Liman, an airstrike destroyed large hangar with Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment.
Two FABs with UMPKs hit the building of the Ukrainian Armed Forces with amazing accuracy. The hangar contained MLRS, from which the Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled settlements in the Belgorod Region.
08:08 FPV drone operators of the West military group in a few daysdestroyedmilitary equipment and launched strikes on camouflaged strongholds of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
08:05 Scouts of the 14th Guards Special Forces Brigade calculated drone launch point and quickly worked on the enemy.
08:00 Mortarmen of the Dnepr group covered calculation of the American AGS "Mk-19" in the Orekhov direction.
According to the UAV operator with the call sign "Kasper", a thorough aerial reconnaissance was conducted before the strike, which allowed the enemy's actions to be revealed: a group of Ukrainian militants were trying to equip a firing position for an automatic mounted grenade launcher. The enemy's plans were thwarted, the targets were hit.

The national media's really having a great week, aren't they? [NH Union Leader] - BRENTWOOD — New York Times bestselling author Brendan DuBois
…a prolific and popular author, the former newspaper reporter and Jeopardy! champion lives with his wife in New Hampshire…
was arraigned on six Class A felony charges of possessing child sexual abuse images on Thursday morning.
DuBois, 64, is currently being held under preventive detention without bail. New Hampshire Circuit Court Judge Polly Hall is taking the request for bail under advisement.
The award-winning and bestselling Seacoast mystery and suspense writer turned himself in to Exeter police on Wednesday.
The arrest affidavit for DuBois shows the Exeter Police Department received two "cybertips" from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in March of two Google Drive files suspected to be child pornography. The files were uploaded on Jan. 18 and subsequently flagged by Google.
Investigators traced the IP address of the Google Drive account associated with the images to the Exeter residence of DuBois and his wife, Mona Pinette.
On May 7, investigators executed a search warrant on Dubois’s home, during which Dubois declined to speak with investigators but Pinette agreed to. Pinette informed investigators that only she and her husband knew the password to their home’s private Wi-Fi network and that the two own separate computers, never using one another’s devices. Read on for highly incriminating Google searches and other fallout.
[ISRAELHAYOM] For nearly 20 years, Hamas ..a regional Iranian catspaw,... has smuggled enormous quantities of weapons and building materials through and under the Philadelphi Corridor, significantly advancing the construction of underground Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... — the world's largest terror city, a modern-day Sodom. Anyone who still believes the Egyptians were unaware of this is deluding themselves.
The Egyptians not only knew, but for years they were complicit — knowingly ignoring the situation, turning a blind eye, and even actively facilitating it. While under President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi they have taken some significant action against the tunnels, proposing to involve them now in any arrangement concerning the Philadelphi Corridor and trusting them is not just foolish and grossly irresponsible, but self-deception and public fraud.
Before el-Sissi, but also during his tenure, cars, cycle of violences, clothes, drugs, medicines, alcoholic beverages, and weapons were smuggled through the Philadelphi Corridor over the years, lots of weapons: improved RPG-29 rockets that killed our soldiers in the Iron Swords War, hidden rocket parts, machine guns, mines, and more.
The tunnels were dug from house basements, orchards, and olive groves. Each tunnel took between two weeks to two months to excavate. Property owners received a percentage of the smuggling profits. At one point, the Rafah municipality required tunnel owners to obtain business licenses and even charged them for water and electricity connections. At its peak, the operation employed 70,000 people. The Bedouin clans of Abu Samhadana and Aburish managed most of it. Their profits were enormous. An average tunnel costs about $100,000 to build, with a daily turnover averaging half a million shekels. Egyptian officials and officers pocketed bribes that allowed the weapons highway to continue. And after all this, to say that Egypt didn't know?
NOT A MEDIATOR NOR AN APPROPRIATE SUPERVISOR
The very thought of now erasing Egypt's sins and giving them a role again in overseeing the Philadelphi Corridor and Rafah crossing is scandalous. Egypt bears significant responsibility for what happened in Philadelphi over the years, and even those who trust President el-Sissi now cannot guarantee that a new Mohammed Morsi from the Moslem Brüderbund won't rise to power in the future, as we saw happen in 2012 presidential elections in Egypt.
Egypt cannot be considered a fair mediator, let alone a fair supervising entity, not against the backdrop of Philadelphi's history and not in light of Nazi-like statements by senior al-Azhar University officials ("Israel's end, a malignant disease in the heart of the Arab Islamic nation, will be destruction") against which the Egyptians take no action. To say that Egypt's objectivity is questionable would be a gross understatement.
Israel must, therefore, remain in Philadelphi. Neither Egypt, the "bruised reed," nor other foreign forces, nor cameras — no one will do the job for us there as needed, and it's time we stop deluding ourselves. Foreign monitoring forces have failed in Leb ...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers... over the years, and they also failed at the Rafah crossing from which European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... monitors fled in 2007.
As for cameras — that's a tasteless joke. They didn't prevent the fall of the Rafah crossing into Hamas' hands, nor did they prevent the events of Oct. 7. They simply documented these failures. We must therefore We must hope that reports of Israel agreeing to discuss these options with Egypt are false. If these reports are true, it would mark another grave error in a series of missteps since Oct. 8, potentially the most dangerous yet.

Last night, the @HoustonChron reporter, who wrote the story with Biden’s lie, that he couldn’t find me or Gov. Abbott, asked for the state call log of my conversation with the president. We sent them the log.
@ChiefKidd
. Chief Kidd was sitting next to me as we waited for the president’s call. I spoke to the president from 11:49 a.m. to 11:52 a.m. on Chief Kidd’s phone.
The reason they called Chief Kidd was puzzling to me since they had just been given my cell phone number.
@FEMA
had called a TDEM employee roughly 10 minutes before my call with the president asking for my personal phone number. My team gave FEMA my cell number and my chief of staff’s phone number. Yet, the president still called Chief Kidd’s phone 10 minutes later instead of calling of me.
I spent all weekend working alongside FEMA employees at the State Operations Center in Austin. They are good men and women, but they never said the president was trying to reach me.
The president could have simply called his own FEMA employees who were working with me for 3 days before, during, and after the hurricane. If they wanted to find me, I was easily found. I was where I was supposed to be, at the state operations center, day and night, in plain sight.
Gov. Abbott did not hear from the president during Hurricane Beryl either. Gov. Abbott tweeted that the president has his phone number and called him as recently as Memorial Day. But, he did not call Abbott either during the hurricane.
To suggest that the president could not find me or the governor is ridiculous. The bottom line is this: I asked for a federal disaster declaration at the proper time without delay and the president agreed. Sadly, President Biden is attacking Gov. Abbott and me, trying to score political points, for reasons that make no sense. Mr. President, as you like to say, “C’mon, man!” #txlege

"Patrick: Documentation Proves Biden Lied About Granting Major Disaster Declaration"
[ISSUESINSIGHTS] Recall when electric vehicles were our future, the next generation of automobiles that were going to save us? It’s been a fairy tale from the beginning, as people are beginning to see.
About six weeks ago, President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant... or is that an act?... bragged during a Rose Garden event that "thanks to my bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re building a network of 500,000 charging stations all across America." At that moment, only seven stations had been built — three years after the bill was passed.
The lack of progress cannot be explained away by the challenges faced by any infrastructure buildout, though Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg
...the testicleless former mayor of South Bend, Indiana. Buttigieg graduated from Harvard College and, on a Rhodes Scholarship, from Pembroke College, Oxford. From 2007 to 2010, he worked at McKinsey and Company, a consulting firm. From 2009 to 2017 Buttigieg served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, attaining the rank of lieutenant and deploying to Afghanistan in 2014. Buttigieg was first elected mayor of South Bend in 2011 and was reelected in 2015. During his second term, he announced he was gay, which surprised no one. Buttigieg also campaigned for Indiana state treasurer in 2010 and for chair of the Democratic National Committee in 2017, losing both elections. He ran for the Dem nomination in 2020 on the theory that being mayor of a nondescript medium sized city is qualification to run the country. He lost that one too. Biden appointed him Secretary of Transportation, which he turned into shambles... tried to do exactly that when he said the project is more involved "than just plunking a small device into the ground." No, what we have is an administration that is insisting that the contractors hired to do the work fall in line with the Democrats ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects... ’ political demands.
"The delay is in large part a result of the White House’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives," the Washington Free Beacon reported last month.
"These requirements are screwing everything up," an anonymous senior Department of Transportation told the Free Beacon. "It’s all a mess."
Connecting charger stations to a power source is another hurdle that’s set back the green dream.
"Businesses building electric vehicle charging stations say that finding enough electricity is a major — perhaps fatal — problem," Just the News reported over the weekend.
A "survey among leaders in the EV charging industry" recently found that 75% "of electric vehicle charging station developers and operators say electric grid limitations present a significant barrier to deploying commercial EV charging infrastructure," says Utility Dive. Apparently "a large number" of these businesses "have been unable to secure the energy they need for their projects and have resorted to installing fossil fuel-powered generators to run their chargers."
Do we need to put those last eight words in bold-faced italics? No. We’ll let them speak for themselves.
Also dragging down the EV era is a lack of reliability.
"Owners of cutting edge, tech-filled BEVs and PHEVs are experiencing problems that are of a severity level high enough for them to take their new vehicle into the dealership at a rate three times higher than that of gas-powered vehicle owners," wrote Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, in the study.
With all the frustrations building, and all the reasons for not owning an EV, it’s no surprise that nearly half — 46% — of the electric vehicle owners in this country say they are "(very) likely to switch back to" cars with internal combustion engines.
Despite the efforts of policymakers, the market for ICE cars is still there, so why not take advantage of it? Is Tesla CEO Elon Musk watching?
Yes, the company would have to make significant changes and the conversion costs could be steep. But Musk saw the potential money to be made from the EV trend two decades ago before eventually pushing out Tesla’s co-founders and taking over the company. There’s no reason to think that he wouldn’t at least seriously consider the idea. Musk’s customer base might be made of activists (and incurable virtue signalers), but there’s no doubt he’s a capitalist.

I still wouldn't buy one, even if you gave it to me. Over the past year there are more and more mouth breathing idiots trying to drive those fires in waiting around Quincy, usually the young Asian prince / princess types. I yell at them (and those douchey assholes riding electric bikes) every time I'm riding my bike around town. I now associate Tesla ownership with room temperature IQ and teenage driving ability.
Fuck every last one of 'em in the ass with a shovel.
"Approximately 500 to 600 cases of copper wire theft were reported annually in the city [LA] just five years ago, the outlet stated. According to LA Councilman Kevin de León (D), there have been a whopping 6,713 cases in just the last year — with repair costs amounting to over $17 million. "

Who was it who quipped that when there won't be enough copper to build the EV infrastructure, just make up the difference by buying from the scrap yards?
#8
Musk is focused on Mars where electric transportation will be a must. Oh, he'll sell earthers a tesla, but he has zero interest in ICE transportation.

^Ah, I don't know.
The banking model seems pretty immune from enforcement.
[BREITBART] Mediaite, a leftist publication, has been caught lying in a blatant distortion of a transcript of an interview that now-Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) did years ago on MSNBC in an obvious attempt to interfere in former President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... ’s vice presidential selection process.
The left-leaning anti-Trump publication ran a headline on Wednesday as part of the globalists’ last-ditch effort to stop Vance from getting selected as Trump’s running mate in the 2024 presidential election that, if true, would certainly make heads in Trump world turn: "JD Vance Said He Believes Trump’s Sexual Assault Accuser in Unearthed Interview."
The problem with Mediaite’s headline — and its story — is that this is not an accurate reflection of what Vance said in a 2016 interview with then-MSNBC host Chris My Thigh is Tingling! Matthews ... the late Tip O'Neill's former gopher who has magazines with centerfolds of Barack Obama in his bathroom... The actual transcript of the MSNBC interview from the October 12, 2016, Hardball show — which has hardly been "unearthed," for what it is worth, as it is literally on the MSNBC website for anyone to find, but that is beside the point — shows Matthews playing a clip of Jessica Leeds, a woman who accused Trump of groping her, and then asking Vance for reaction.
Here is Matthews’s exact question: "What do you think of this? This is something, it’s sort of interesting evocative of the time because of the time because we used to say stewardess first of all. That was a flight attendant. It just gives us a sense of history. But this woman is not a showoff. She’s just telling what happened so we can know it."
Here is Vance’s exact response: "Yes, yes. And it’s sort of — — it makes me think that at fundamental, this is sort of he said/she said, right? And at the end of the day, do you believe Donald Trump who always tells the truth? Just kidding, or do you believe that woman on the tape? And I —"
That is the end of the exchange. Vance literally said in his response that this was a "he said/she said" disagreement and questioned which person between the two people — Trump or Leeds — someone should believe.
Vance’s argument, for whatever it is worth, was far more pro-Trump than most MSNBC guests at the time, even though he was still a Trump critic back then. His conversion from critic to strong supporter of Trump is a widely known story, but the notion he was saying, as Mediaite claimed in this headline, that he believed the accuser is just not true because that is not what he said.
Where things get particularly interesting is that the author of the piece, Colby Hall, first off, did not, per multiple sources familiar with the matter, reach out to Vance’s team for comment ahead of time on the story. While it is a publicly available transcript on MSNBC’s website, Hall did not even include the video of the interview for the story, and mischaracterizing Vance’s comments like this is a significant development. What is more, in non-off-record conversations with Vance’s staff after the publication of the story, Hall admitted that headlines are not the full story — he literally told, per communications reviewed by Breitbart News, a Vance staffer that he "surmised" what he thought Vance meant to write the headline on this piece rather than accurately letting Vance’s word speak for themselves.
[GEO.TV] US President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women created ... by the — you know — you know, the thing... defiantly insisted Thursday that he will run for another term and win, as a series of verbal gaffes while leading a major summit threw a harsh new spotlight on his fitness.
The 81-year-old president sought to show himself in command as he led the NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... summit in Washington two weeks after a disastrous debate performance raised fears among Democrats ...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects... that he may lose to Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... .
But Biden mistakenly introduced Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky as his Russian foe Vladimir Putin ...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances... before quickly correcting himself.
At a high-stakes evening news conference afterward, Biden mistakenly referred to "Vice President" Trump.
But he vowed to stay in the race.
"I think I'm the most qualified person to run for president. I beat him once, and I will beat him again," Biden said of Trump.
Biden, already the oldest person to be elected the first time to the White House, said he was "not in this for my legacy" but to "complete the job I started."
Biden has faced a steady drumbeat of Democrats calling for him to abandon his 2024 candidacy, fearing that Trump is in a position to beat him.
Biden made clear he supported Harris - who as vice president would take over from him, but is also seen by a growing number of Democrats as a stronger candidate at the top of the ticket.
Biden said he would not have picked Kámala Harris Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's former mistress, then a senatrix from California former 2020 Dem presidential hopeful, and Joe Biden's wing nut... , whom he accidentally referred to as Trump, if "she was not qualified to be president."
He also denied reports that he needed to go to bed by 8 pm, a time at which he was still holding his news conference on Thursday.
"Instead of my every day starting at 7:00 am and going to bed at midnight, it would be smarter for me to pace myself a little more," Biden said.

[GEO.TV] Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Thursday said that Pakistain would strike a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) this month, expressing optimism about the positive progress in talks between Islamabad and the global lender to reach a staff-level agreement on a new bailout programme.
The government is looking to clinch the IMF agreement on a bailout of more than $6 billion after addressing all of the lender's requirements in its annual budget.
"The talks with the IMF are progressing positively," the finance czar said while briefing the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Finance.
Aurangzeb informed the body that no country could run on a 9% tax-to-gross domestic product (GDP) ratio and pledged to raise the ratio to 13%.
"The Fund requires taxation on the actual income which is fair," the minister said.
The federal government presented the tax-loaded Rs18.877 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 (FY25) last month, aimed at shoring up public revenue and satisfying the IMF, which has repeatedly demanded improved tax collection.
The budget aims to raise Rs13 trillion by next July, a roughly 40% increase from the current financial year, to bring down a ruinous debt burden that has caused 57% of government revenue to be swallowed by interest payments.
The tax rises mostly fall on salaried workers, who comprise a relatively small part of Pakistain’s mostly informal economy, as well as some retail and export businesses. The budget also threatened punitive measures for tax avoiders, including restrictions on mobile phones, gas and electricity access and the ability to fly abroad.
On Sunday, the finance minister warned that Pakistain won't be able to break lose from IMF bailouts if it fails to boost tax revenue.
[GEO.TV] Pakistain has ruled out any dialogue with the banned terrorist outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban ...the once and current oppressors of Afghanistan... Pakistain with the Foreign Office saying no talks are possible with elements involved in the killings of Paks and foreigners.
"The TTP is involved in the killing of Pak and foreign citizens inside Pakistain," FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said in a weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.
She said that Pakistain respects Afghanistan's illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity and expects the authorities in the neighbouring country to uphold their illusory sovereignty and take action against terrorist groups that have found sanctuaries on its soil and are using it for launching terror attacks across the border.
Responding to a question, Baloch said Pakistain is committed to implementing the Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Plan [IFRP].
"The IFRP is meant for the implementation of the laws of Pakistain," she said, adding that the plan was designed to launch an action against the illegal immigrants colonists residing in Pakistain without documentation.
She further stated that illegal immigrants colonists from several countries have been sent back to their respective countries under the IFRP.
While referring to the repatriation of illegal foreigners including Afghans to their home countries, the FO spokesperson said that the first phase of this plan was near completion.
Clarifying there were multiple categories of Afghan refugees residing in the country, the spokesperson stressed the country had not not given any understanding to the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) about the "suspension" of the plan.

Why can’t we have an IFRP too?

[NYPOST] CBS News president Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews — who was accused of sidelining white journalists and blocking an acclaimed correspondent’s reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop — is stepping down at the network, the company said Wednesday.
The controversial news boss, who was named president just last August, is exiting after she made headlines in February over the firing of Catherine Herridge, a respected senior investigative news hound who had been doggedly covering the Hunter Biden laptop story for the network.
At the time, media insiders speculated that Herridge’s exit was linked to her reporting that President Biden may have kept evidence that he had foreign business dealings while in office.
Another reason, according to sources, may have been Herridge’s role in a 2021 human resources probe of Ciprian-Matthews over favoritism and discriminatory hiring and management practices.
As revealed by an investigation by The Post in January, Ciprian-Matthews had racked up HR complaints from staffers over unfair hiring and management practices, particularly against white female journalists. Among those who complained was Herridge, according to sources.
[Epoch Times] A case of the bubonic plague was confirmed in an individual in Colorado’s Pueblo County, officials said on Tuesday.
As I recall, bubonic plague is endemic in the American West — prairie dogs are a host. Just about every year there are a couple of infections, easily treated with modern antibiotics.
On Tuesday, the Pueblo County Department of Public Health said that it "confirmed a human case" in a resident of the county, adding that it will continue "to investigate a potential source and asks the public to take the precautions" to limit the spread of the bacterial infection.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that the plague circulates via fleas, occurs in wild rodents, and rarely spreads to people. Infected fleas that bite people are the primary vectors of the plague, while the bacteria can also be transmitted by touching infected animals or inhaling droplets from the cough of an infected individual or an animal.
Human cases of the plague, caused by the Yersinia pestis bacterium, are not unheard of in the United States. In March, a New Mexico man died of the disease, while officials in Oregon confirmed a case in February, which they said may have been linked to an infected cat. Inquiring Minds want to know when the sick or deceased individuals entered the US.

This crops up from time to time in the US, I remember cases even back in the 80's. It's rare but happens. I'd be MORE worried about Hanta virus in Colorado.

It is always here in the Prairie dog population. Wiped out a large colony hear Broomfield back in 2006. Usually when a human gets it they are fucking around with the prairie dogs and get bit several times by fleas. Usually happens every couple years.
[Breitbart] Activists are sounding the alarm about a large group of gunmen who kidnapped more than 200 migrants as they made their way north toward the Sonora-Arizona border. Some of the migrant’s relatives wired thousands of dollars to the alleged kidnappers, but the migrants remain missing.
According to an exclusive report by El Sol de Hermosillo, a group of more than 200 migrants had been loaded into a tractor-trailer late last month. The truck headed for the border city of Sonoyta, Sonora — just south of Arizona.
As the truck approached the town of Cuahutemoc, Chihuahua, the vehicle broke down. The migrants were forced to walk to another location where human smugglers were going to pick them up to continue their journey. Unfortunately, a large number of gunmen showed up and kidnapped the migrants, breaking them into smaller groups of 10-15 and stuffing them into their trucks.
It remains unclear where the kidnappers took the migrants. Some of the relatives quoted by Mexican media claim that they brought them to the border city of Ciudad Jaurez, Chihuahua, just south of El Paso, Texas. The migrants have been missing for more than 15 days, El Sol de Hermosillo reported.
Factions of the Sinaloa Cartel control the border region of Sonora, while the Juarez Cartel controls the regions near Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. Both criminal organizations have a long-standing turf war for control of lucrative drug and human smuggling routes into the United States.
Relatives told the Mexican newspaper that since the day of the kidnapping, the relatives began receiving threatening messages through WhatsApp where the alleged captors gave them instructions on wiring money to them to secure the release of their loved ones. Some of the relatives have wired as much as $10,000; however, the kidnapped migrants remain missing.

[REGNUM] "First of all, do no harm" is a commandment that the famous Hippocrates left to his professional descendants. But it is unlikely that the ancient Greek founder of medicine imagined that many centuries later this rule would be questioned in modern Ukraine. At the same time, doctors even violate it with a high purpose - to save lives. Although for the benefit of their own pockets.
Total mobilization in Ukraine shows no signs of slowing down. Local TCCs, also known as military commissars, are coming up with increasingly sophisticated ways to make up for the large losses at the front: men are being rounded up on the streets, in workplaces, gyms, and shopping malls, “packed up,” and sent into battle as quickly as possible.
But every action gives rise to a reaction, so ordinary Ukrainians are also looking for ways not to perish in the trenches.
An announcement was posted in one of the public pages of the city of Dnepr (former Dnepropetrovsk):
"I provide a deferment quickly and professionally. Specialized medical education. Pinpoint impact. Use of high-quality anesthesia. Monitoring of the condition during recovery. Assistance in preparing the necessary documents."
The offer, authored by a certain Mikola, is designed according to the classic laws of advertising, and a discount is promised for repeat requests. The ad is accompanied by a photograph of a man's leg in a cast. Prices are not indicated in the text.
In other words, a certain medical worker offers not to cure a patient for a monetary reward, but on the contrary, to carefully and relatively painlessly break a person's leg or arm. That is, to do what in the language of the law is called self-mutilation and is usually severely punished.
TEMPORARY EFFECT
Obviously, the clients of such bone-breakers want to get injured and avoid mobilization. However, opinions differ on how much intentional injury will help to "dodge" service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian publication published a commentary by lawyer Maria Lekalo, who noted that this method of avoiding mobilization may not actually produce the desired result. According to her, everything will depend on the severity of the injury. If it can be treated conservatively, the medical commission will declare the person fit. If surgery is required, the deferment will only be temporary: the maximum that can be expected is six months to a year.
In addition to purely practical doubts, the proposal itself raises questions, as it clearly goes against medical ethics. On the one hand, the one trained to heal in this case uses his knowledge not for good, but for evil. On the other hand, the nominal crime is committed with a good intention - a broken leg can save a person's life, leaving him in the rear.
It is hardly possible to throw a stone at ordinary Ukrainians who are not ready to become cannon fodder and are forced to take the most desperate steps in order to survive.
But there are still more questions for the author of the advertisement.
The main thing is the commercial nature of the service. For such a doctor, apparently, money comes first. In essence, there is no difference - to treat or to maim. But demand creates supply, no matter how cynical it may sound. Doctors conducted fake medical commissions and wrote out fake certificates of exemption from mobilization - this is also, strictly speaking, not according to Hippocrates.
Of course, it cannot be ruled out that the author of the ad is a convinced pacifist and sympathizes with his compatriots, and the fee for the service is just a bonus for the trouble. But here again the problem of social inequality, characteristic of Ukraine, emerges, including in the face of a supposedly universal mobilization. Don't want to go to the front, but have the money? Break your leg in comfortable conditions and with anesthesia, no money - do it the old-fashioned way, "live".
This is exactly what happened recently in Cherkassy. There, a man, allegedly hiding from mobilization, jumped out of a window on the first floor of a military registration and enlistment office and broke his leg. The commentary from the Ukrainian Armed Forces says that he did it on purpose, in order to "deliberately injure himself."
"MASKS OF THE OLD MEN" AND THE RIVER OF DEATH
In May, Ukrainian authorities announced that about 100,000 people in the country were evading mobilization. Experts question this figure, suggesting that it be multiplied by at least ten. Some managed to leave the country and settle abroad, while others settled in a gray zone for the state and are simply not registered with the military registration and enlistment office.
Those for whom being sent to a combat zone remains a real threat are evading it as best they can. For example, realistic masks are in use, which turn the man who puts them on into an old man or a woman. However, they write on social networks that this does not always work now: man-catchers, as representatives of the TCC are increasingly called, have adapted to such techniques and, just in case, even stop the elderly.
Knowing a foreign language can help avoid an unpleasant encounter with man-catchers. In June, a video of a military commissar raid in one of the Ukrainian cities was circulated in Telegram channels, where a young man they met said a few words in broken English, after which they left him alone.
More traditional ways of avoiding the army are not losing popularity. The Ukrainian Ministry of Education has admitted that 90% of those entering postgraduate studies at higher education institutions this year are men of draft age. Of the 100,000 such applicants, 90,000 are men aged 25 to 60, meaning that they are theoretically subject to mobilization.
At the same time, against the backdrop of the tragicomedy unfolding in the country, the number of cases is growing in which escape from mobilization ends in death. The Tisza River in the Zakarpattia region has long been nicknamed the "river of death" - just last May, local border guards fished out the bodies of ten drowned men who tried to swim across the river to escape the country. But Ukrainians continue to dive into it, hoping to avoid being sent to the front.
[HOLLYWOODREPORTER] Shelley Duvall, the saucer-eyed, rail-thin waif who starred in seven films directed by her mentor, Robert Altman, and avoided the ax wielded by an unhinged Jack Nicholson in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining, died Thursday. She was 75.
Duvall died in her sleep of complications from diabetes at her home in Blanco, Texas, Dan Gilroy, her life partner since 1989, told The Hollywood Reporter.
“My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” Gilroy said.
In November 2016, a disheveled Duvall appeared on an episode of the syndicated talk show Dr. Phil and revealed that she was suffering from mental illness. “I am very sick. I need help,” she said. Four years later, THR‘s Seth Abramovitch visited her for a memorable story.
Before she fled Hollywood for her native Texas in the mid-1990s, Duvall had a thriving career as a versatile, one-of-a-kind actress and head of her own production company, Think Entertainment, which created star-studded, innovative children’s programming for cable television that netted her two Emmy Award nominations.
While attending junior college in her hometown of Houston, Duvall was discovered by Altman staff members and talked into taking a screen test. She then made her onscreen debut as teenage seductress and Astrodome tour guide Suzanne Davis in Brewster McCloud (1970).
A decade later, Duvall sang and starred opposite Robin Williams as the iconic comic-strip character Olive Oyl, the strong-willed damsel in distress, in Altman’s live-action adaptation of Popeye.
In between, the childlike star collaborated with Altman as a mail-order bride in McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971); as the woman who has a Mississippi romance with bank robber Keith Carradine in Thieves Like Us (1974); as the groupie L.A. Joan, fond of hot pants and platform shoes, in Nashville (1975); as the wife of President Grover Cleveland in Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull’s History Lesson (1976); and as Millie Lamoureaux, a fantasizing attendant at a Palm Springs health spa for the elderly, in 3 Women (1977).
Asked by The New York Times in 1977 why she chose to keep working with Altman, she said: “He offers me damn good roles. None of them have been alike. He has a great confidence in me, and a trust and respect for me, and he doesn’t put any restrictions on me or intimidate me, and I love him.

This Daily Show focus group of Black New York voters did not go as planned. Half of the focus group (3 out of 6) said they would vote for Trump: "We're an even split. I didn't see that coming." … For the most part with the Democrat party, they always make a bunch of promises that they can't deliver."
"They use the issues of the African American community as a soapbox to stand on, and make promises just to get us to come out to vote."
'How could you vote for Trump' is quickly shifting to 'How could you vote for the senile guy?'

[TOWNHALL] ... There is no good outcome for them. There is only a good outcome for us, assuming our enemies around the world don’t use the incompetence of the White House as an excuse to nuke us. As I have said many times before, we are not the target of these revelations. All these revelations do is confirm what we’ve known through all the various regime media lie-cycles over the past decade. Remember the Russiagate lie? They gave each other Pulitzers over that one. Remember how Covid wasn’t brewed up in a Wuhan lab, and to so say it was anything but contagious pangolins was racist? Remember how Hunter‘s laptop was Russian disinformation – 51 bureaucratic hacks said so, dammit!
No, we conservatives know that if the media is talking, the regime media is lying in the service of the Democratic Party. But normal people don’t, or at least they didn’t until debate night. Normal people don’t go through life following these issues. Normal people go through life having actual lives. Every once in a while, politics intrudes on them because they’re good citizens, and they feel that they should at least pay a little bit of attention to politics around election time. And, unfortunately for Joe Biden, they paid attention when he challenged Donald Trump to walk into an ambush and ended up staggering out mortally wounded.
You couldn’t ask for a better humiliation for the regime media, which has no real choice but to fall back on “Gosh, can you believe those people in the Biden administration lied to us? What a bunch of rascals they are!” Their shameless finger-pointing is hilarious. It’s delightful to remind the Jake Tappers and Peter Bakers and Tater Stelter that if you have been reading Townhall, you knew the truth, and if you had been watching/reading CNN, the New York Times, or the Potato Post, you were utterly ignorant and misinformed.

BREAKING: @NBCNews anchor Lester Holt will sit down with President Biden for an exclusive one-on-one interview on Monday in Austin, Texas. The full interview will air in its entirety during a primetime special that evening at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT. on NBC.
[BREITBART] Residents of the west-central town of Springfield, Ohio, are demanding that their city council do something to stem the tide of the Haitian immigrants colonists that have flooded the city, especially in the aftermath of the death of a child in a school bus accident caused by a migrant driving illegally.
The town situated just west of the state capitol in Columbus has been a target of Haitian immigrants colonists at least since 2014, and in the ensuing years, some ten thousand had moved to the Rust Belt town. But in the last four years alone, that population has ballooned to more than 20,000. The influx is causing serious pressures to mount on the town.
Ohio’s Republican U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance put the blame for the mounting problems squarely on the Biden administration, which is causing small towns all across the country to suffer just like Springfield.
"This self-imposed disaster is crushing the job prospects of our citizens, making it more difficult for Ohio families to find homes and draining social service programs funded by American taxpayers," Vance told the media. "People who are here illegally should be sent back to their home countries as soon as possible, and individuals here on temporary status should not expect to stay indefinitely."
The explosion of immigrants colonists — many of whom do not speak English — has placed serious burdens on the town. Town services are being stretched thin, and costs for translating services, housing, and legal services have become a major expense.
For a few years, longtime residents were unbothered by the growing Haitian community, but over time, festivities have begun to occur as Haitians have become more obtrusive by driving illegally, piling into apartments and homes by the dozens, filling local schools with children who need special care in education and language services, and increasingly becoming a focus for government spending.

Next county over. I do my best not to go near there anymore. Springfield was a Rustbelt poster child before this. Now it’s simply too dangerous to consider driving through if avoidable.

[AFRICANEWS] The military junta Captain Ibrahim Traoré in Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president used to be Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and was chased out in 2014. Now it's the usual army officer type guy, Captain Ibrahim Traore, running things, who's just doing a bang-up job unless he's already been deposed... has approved a revised family code that criminalizes homosexuality.
This decision makes Burkina Faso one of the 22 out of 54 African countries that do not allow same-sex relationships, with severe penalties such as death or long prison sentences in some regions.
The council approved a decree for a new Personal and Family Code (CPF) that "enshrines the ban on homosexuality" in the country, the presidency announced in a statement.
"From now on, homosexuality and related practices are prohibited and punishable by law," emphasized the Minister of Justice, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala.
Although the specific penalties were not outlined, and the text is yet to be approved by the deputies of the Transitional Legislative Assembly, "Death by Bunga Bunga!"
Burkina Faso may now joins the ranks of Uganda that enacted one of the harshest anti-LGBTQ laws globally in May of last year.

[Breitbart] Officials at Fort Liberty, the U.S. Army post formerly known as Fort Bragg, distanced themselves on Thursday from a slide shown to soldiers during a briefing on Wednesday that featured a pro-life organization as an example of a terrorist group.
In a statement to Breitbart News, the post said:
After conducting a commander’s inquiry, we determined that these slides were not vetted by the appropriate approval authorities, and do not reflect the views of the XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Liberty, the U.S. Army or the Department of Defense.
The officials said the slides were developed by a “local garrison employee” to train soldiers who were manning gates at Fort Liberty in North Carolina, and that it would no longer be used.
“These slides will no longer be used, and all future training products will be reviewed to ensure they align with the current DoD anti-terrorism guidance,” officials said.
The slide came to the public’s attention after a military whistleblower posted it on X, sparking outrage among conservatives.

decided on Wednesday to evacuate its team from the Ottoman Turkish Hospital, located in an area controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) south of the capital Khartoum, due to increasing violations against its staff.
The conflict, ongoing since 15 April 2023, has caused 70% to 80% of medical facilities to cease operations due to bombing, occupation, lack of supplies, water and electricity outages, and a shortage of personnel.
In a statement received by Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... Tribune, MSF said, "After more than a year of violent mostly peaceful incidents inside and outside the Ottoman Turkish Hospital, including threats to the lives of our staff, we have decided to evacuate the hospital."
MSF noted that it was able to provide direct life-saving treatment at the Ottoman Turkish Hospital for 14 months, despite deliberate obstacles from the warring parties.
The organization revealed that its staff working at the Ottoman Turkish Hospital were subjected to repeated harassment both inside the facility and on the street while commuting to and from work, with many threatened with arrest.
MSF reported that one of its employees was arrested inside the hospital by gunnies who took him to an unknown location and severely beat him.
The suspension of MSF’s work at the Ottoman Turkish Hospital is the fifth of its kind in Sudan this year. The organization previously suspended its work at Bashair Hospital, Wad Madani Hospital in Al Jazirah state, the Southern Hospital, and the Babiker Nahar Paediatric Centre in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state.
Claire Nicolet, MSF’s Emergency Response Manager in Sudan, said, "The situation at the Ottoman Turkish Hospital, located in an area controlled by the RSF, has become unacceptable."
[AFRICANEWS] Mali's military junta on Wednesday said it would allow political parties and associations to resume their activities.
The announcement by the council of ministers came three months after activities were suspended, purportedly to safeguard public order.
At the time, political parties were protesting against the military government’s decision to stay in power beyond a March 2024 deadline for returning to civilian rule.
The suspension in April came days before the start of a national dialogue for peace in Mali, that has been battling a jihadist insurgency for over a decade.
Military leaders, who have been in power since 2020, justified the move saying political parties posed a danger to the discussions on the country’s political future.
Despite a boycott of the dialogue by the main political parties and what remains of the opposition, the discussions went ahead with supporters of the regime.
In May, it recommended the military remain in power for "two to five additional years" And that the current head of the junta be allowed to run for any future presidential election.
Over the past two years, the junta has broken its long-standing alliance with La Belle France and its European partners to turn militarily and politically towards Russia.
It also kicked out the UN peacekeeping mission, Minusma, deployed to help restore stability in the north where government troops are battling the Islamist insurgency.

[REGNUM] These days, one of the main topics on the European and global agenda is the results of the parliamentary elections in France. As a reminder, the results seriously damaged the position of the party of President Emmanuel Macron, the main "instigator" of Europe's active intervention in Ukrainian affairs. Marine Le Pen's party, which became the leader in the first round, did not live up to expectations in the second. But the election results threaten such confusion that the Fifth Republic will no longer have time to "support with bayonets" the stability of the Volodymyr Zelensky regime.

And secondly, and most importantly, there was no one left to represent the delegation: the Galician army of the ZUNR was retreating under the onslaught of the Poles, and the "successes" of the UPR army were discussed above."

[Regnum] The Russian side does not intend to participate in a new summit on Ukraine, including because of attempts to raise the ultimatum "peace formula" of the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, at future meetings. This was stated on July 11 by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Galuzin.
“We are aware of the intentions of the Kiev regime and its Western curators to ‘rehabilitate’ themselves for the failed ‘peace summit’ in Burgenstock, Switzerland, in mid-June of this year and to try to hold a similar event,” the diplomat noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that the content of the meeting, to which they even think of inviting Russia, is known in advance. Galuzin noted that such events are organized in the hope of pushing through the absolutely "dead-end and ultimatum" Zelensky formula, while ignoring other initiatives to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
"This is yet another instance of fraud. We do not accept such ultimatums and do not intend to participate in such 'summits'," Lenta.ru quoted a representative of the Foreign Ministry as saying.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland, to which representatives of Russia were not invited, was held in Bürgenstock on June 15-16. Russian President Vladimir Putin called this "peace" conference a freak show. He noted that its organizers admit that this issue cannot be resolved without Russia, but at the same time they do not invite its representatives to the event.
On July 10, Bloomberg reported, citing sources, that Ukraine intends to hold a second conference dedicated to resolving the conflict, to which it plans to invite Russia. Kiev hopes to do this before the presidential elections in the United States, fearing the likely return to the White House of former President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly stated his determination to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible, the publication's sources noted.
At the same time, Kyiv, based on the far from successful results of the conference in Switzerland, now intends to use the theses outlined at that time on nuclear and food security as issues on which it would be possible to establish initial contact with Russia.
According to sources, the second conference on Ukraine after the Swiss summit may be held in Saudi Arabia. This is one of the possible options; there are no specific decisions yet on the date and format of the conference on Ukraine.
The Russian side has repeatedly declared its readiness for a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, taking into account its interests, the goals outlined within the framework of the SVO, and new territorial realities. On June 14, at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Putin named the conditions under which Moscow is ready to negotiate an end to the conflict in Ukraine. The head of state emphasized the need for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of the DPR and LPR, the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions, as well as the official renunciation of Kiev's plans to join NATO.
[NYPOST] Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... ’s ex-wife Marla Maples revealed in a rare interview that she’s willing to help the former president’s 2024 campaign — and is even "open" to being his vice president. Yeahhhhhh. No
"I’m ready. I am available if needed and I’m not sitting back anymore," Maples, who just turned 60, told the Evening Standard in her first interview in eight years.
"I want to step out more, share more and not be afraid of positive or negative outcomes that come from speaking out," she added.
Maples, who shares daughter Tiffany Trump with the former commander-in-chief, said her willingness to help Trump’s second White House bid has not been affected by her ex-husband’s legal troubles.

[REGNUM] Regnum. The FSB prevented an armed attack by a member of a terrorist organization banned in Russia on an Orthodox church in Adygea. This was reported by the agency's Public Relations Center.
“The terrorist was preparing an attack on a religious institution (an Orthodox church) in the city of Maikop and the murder of its clergy and guards, followed by arson of the building. He conducted reconnaissance of the area, drew up a plan of attack, acquired the necessary components and made homemade incendiary devices,” the report says.
It is noted that the terrorist, who is from one of the countries of the Central Asian region,

planned to film the attack to promote terrorist ideas. After the terrorist attack, he wanted to hide abroad.
The FSB reported that the criminal's activities were promptly identified and stopped during the events that were held. Prohibited materials, a flag of a terrorist organization, a knife, and components of an incendiary device were found and confiscated from him.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist attack).
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 23, terrorists in Dagestan attacked two Orthodox churches, two synagogues and a traffic police post in Makhachkala and Derbent. As a result of the attacks, 22 people were killed, including the rector of the church, Father Nikolai (Kotelnikov), and the head of the police department of the city of Dagestanskie Ogni, Lieutenant Colonel Mavludin Khidirnabiyev.
It also became known that among the militants were the children of the head of the Sergokalinsky district, Magomed Omarov. The former official was detained and then arrested until September 5 on charges of fraud and money laundering.
The Investigative Committee reported that the suspects in the attacks in Makhachkala and Derbent have been charged with terrorism.
On July 10, the FSB prevented a terrorist attack on the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. On July 8, the agency's employees prevented an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to hijack a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.
[ColonelCassad] How the Road to War in Ukraine Was Paved in American Diplomacy Materials.
Here, girls, we have an anniversary NATO summit. And just in time, declassified documents from the 90s on NATO expansion to the East have arrived. It's fascinating reading, but long. We have chosen the best of 17 American memoranda and telegrams for you:
✔️ Offer membership to the Baltic countries and Ukraine. They should not remain in the "gray zone of Russian influence" - October 14, 1994 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32226-document-3-anthony-lake-secretary-state-secretary-defense-un-ambassador-and-joint ), memorandum by US National Security Advisor Anthony Lake
✔️ The issue of "strategic superiority/political insurance" (containing Russia) should be kept in mind, but not spoken, to prevent the allies from limiting themselves to only the Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland) as new members. Yeltsin needs to regularly talk about the theoretical possibility of Russia joining NATO - October 14, 1994 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32226-document-3-anthony-lake-secretary-state-secretary-defense-un-ambassador-and-joint ), memorandum by US National Security Advisor Anthony Lake.
✔️ The main thing is to “Open the doors” for Ukraine, the Baltics, Romania and Bulgaria to join NATO, while publicly declaring that “the doors are open to all comers” — October 14, 1994 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32226-document-3-anthony-lake-secretary-state-secretary-defense-un-ambassador-and-joint ), memorandum by US National Security Advisor Anthony Lake
✔️ We need to talk to the Russians about developing and deepening relations with NATO. We will need to get the Russians to agree with our strategy for further NATO expansion to the East — December 21, 1994 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32228-document-5-deputy-national-security-adviser-samuel-berger-president-meeting-vice ), memorandum of the US Deputy Assistant for National Security Affairs Samuel Berger to President Clinton.
✔️ Do not discuss within NATO the possibility of admitting Ukraine to the Alliance, given the sensitivity of this issue for Russia, but maintain these intentions. Develop a separate program for working with Ukraine — December 22, 1994 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32229-document-6-memorandum-anthony-lake-and-samuel-r-berger-alexander-vershbow-nicholas ), memorandum of the US National Security Council Working Group
✔️ "We are not going to discuss with the Russians the entry or non-entry of Ukraine and the Baltics into NATO. All their statements about the "rights of Russian speakers" or the "traditional sphere of influence" need to be "slammed hard". And constantly say that if Ukraine and the Baltics want to join NATO, they have every right to do so - the same as Russia itself. "c — namely, to declare the unacceptability of admitting Ukraine and the Baltics into NATO" — August 23, 1996 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32233-document-10-strobe-talbott-draft-memorandum-nato-russia-framework-next-phase ), Strobe Talbott memorandum on further NATO enlargement
✔️ NATO may be needed to fight terrorism, ensure security in Europe, or confront Russia if it again takes the path of expansionism in foreign policy… The United States is not going to train European troops to fight the Russians in Central Europe. We have a new mission to protect our values and interests - February 9, 1997 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32234-document-11-draft-letter-strobe-talbott-george-kennan ), Talbott's letter to George Kennan in response to Kennan's criticism of NATO expansion
✔️ "The Europeans should have pressed Putin hard on Chechnya and said that such issues can only be resolved through diplomacy… …We are likely to pay the price for forcing Yeltsin to change his harsh "no" to a reluctant "yes" on NATO expansion for seven years… …The bosses in Moscow can use their economic successes to restore Russian influence" - November 16, 2000 ( https://nsarchive.gwu.edu/document/32241-document-18-ambassador-pickering-cable-us-embassy-london-deputy-secretarys-november ), a telegram about a conversation between Talbot and the British ambassador to NATO Manning.
But of course, no one wanted war. They didn't even think about it.

[THE-EXPRESS] La Belle France is on the verge of a "financial crisis" and consequent economic decline after the surprise success of a hard left coalition in this weekend’s elections, the country’s outgoing finance minister Bruno Le Maire has warned.
Speaking on the political situation, UK-based banking expert Bob Lyddon has told Express.co.uk the result signals an end to Emmanuel Macron’s policy of "controlling debt and public spending", warning the inevitable "deadlock" is no better than a victory for Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally.
In a possible hint at future chaos, riot police clashed with left-wing demonstrators in Gay Paree on Sunday evening.
The hastily assembled Popular Front (NFP) - spearheaded by left-wingers including former Presidential candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon - is pledging to increase public spending by £125 billion if they successfully form a government.
They have also proposed a 90 percent tax on incomes over £340,000 a year - but Mr Le Maire suggests such a move could cost more than £250 billion with La Belle France already saddled with a budget defunct of 5.5 percent.
The Finance Minister explained: "The most immediate risk is a financial crisis and La Belle France's economic decline.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen any protests at the Tour de France this year, at least to this point. That could change but not likely in the mountain stages coming up this weekend (Pyrenees) and later on next week (Alps), as there tends to be too many normal people ready to counter them and I've only seen protests on flat stages, even the ones by the farmers from 10 - 20+ years ago.

Weathly (or, just common-sensical) French have moved to southern (French-speaking) Wallonia to escape French taxes for years. I wonder if that'll increase.
This Melenchon putz...just another millionaire Socialist. Aren't they all? I mean, just ask Bernie. And Lizzie.

Yes, they can, but WILL they? Every time Le Pen runs, the other parties gang up just to shut her out. But her party got quite a few more seats, if I recall correctly.

's position that Israel must withdraw from all Gaza territory after a ceasefire.
Gaza's Hamas rulers said troops had pulled back from Gaza City's eastern district of Shujaiya, leaving "more than 300 residential units and more than 100 businesses destroyed".
Witnesses said tanks and troops had moved on to other parts of Gaza City. An AFP correspondent reported air strikes on the Sabra neighbourhood while Death Eaters engaged in heavy festivities with Israeli forces in Tel al-Hawa.
Explosions and orange flashes shook the darkened city before daylight brought automatic weapons fire, AFPTV images showed.
Hamas reported 45 air strikes in the Gaza City area, as well as in Gaza's southernmost city of Rafah, where Netanyahu had said the intense phase of the war was nearing its conclusion.
'DELAYING TACTICS'
Netanyahu's office confirmed that its negotiating team, led by Mossad intelligence chief David Barnea, had returned to Israel following talks with mediators in Doha on Thursday.
Speaking after the team's return, Netanyahu said Israel needed control of the Paleostinian side of Gaza's border with Egypt to stop weapons reaching Hamas.
He added that Israel must also be allowed to keep on fighting until its war aims of destroying Hamas and bringing home all hostages are achieved.

Over/under on how quickly Hamas will sabotage any agreement that they actually agreed to, dear Reader?
[NEWARAB] Israel and Hamas ..always the voice of sweet reason... have reportedly signalled their agreement that neither of them would rule in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... during the second phase of a potential ceasefire and hostage exchange deal, a Washington Post column states.
According to the column by US journalist David Ignatius, the interim government will commence with phase two and security would be provided by forces trained by the US and backed by "moderate Arab allies".
The allies will be chosen from a core group of around 2,5000 supporters of the Paleostinian Authority (PA) in Gaza who have been vetted by Israel.
The report adds that a US official said Hamas told mediators they were "prepared to relinquish authority to the interim governance arrangement".
The US has maintained that they were "cautiously optimistic" about ceasefire talks, with the White House national security spokesperson John Kirby telling CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... on Wednesday that things are moving in a good direction.
"There are still gaps remaining between the two sides. We believe those gaps can be narrowed, and that's what Brett McGurk and CIA Director Bill Burns are trying to do right now," he said.
Sources have also said ceasefire talks in Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi... will be resuming on Thursday, with Israel's defence minister Yoav Gallant saying that a limited window has been opened to bring captives back to Israel.
A senior Israeli official told Haaretz that they estimate that "an Israeli team can reach a deal based on the red lines drawn by Israel. There is a list of proposals and ideas which can, under certain conditions, placate both sides."
However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... Hamas has maintained that they will only agree to a deal that allows for a total ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli forces.

[AFRICANEWS] Algeria's president announced on Thursday that he intends to run for a second term in office, five years after ascending to power as the military and establishment-backed candidate during widespread pro-democracy protests.
The 78-year-old political veteran, Abdelmadjid Tebboune said in an interview to be broadcast on Algerian television that his decision came in response to support from political parties and young people.
"If the Algerian people want to vote for me, that’s fine, otherwise I’ll have accomplished my mission and whoever succeeds me will be welcome," he said, lauding his record as well as the gas-rich North African country's security and stability.
Tebboune has avoided declaring his intentions even after the Sept. 7 election date was set almost four months ago.
Despite his demurrals, his intentions were "an open secret" and his candidacy a byproduct of discussions among the political elite, says political scientist Rachid Grime.
Besides Tebboune, 34 candidates have announced plans to run in the election.

[Regnum] Conscripts called up to the Russian Armed Forces during the autumn draft will not be sent to the special military operation (SVO) zone. This was announced by the head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov.
He stressed that there had been no changes in the issue of military service, so everything would proceed as it had during the previous call-up.
“Nothing has changed, we didn’t plan to take them, and we won’t plan to do so,” Kartapolov told journalists.
The deputy added that “everything will be fine” for the conscripts.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the spring conscription of Russian citizens for military service. It began on April 1 and will last until July 15.
According to the new rules, which came into force on January 1, 2024, citizens aged 18 to 30 are subject to conscription for military service, excluding those who turned 27 before the end of 2023 and those who are 28 or 29 years old and who are in the reserve. The Russian Armed Forces must recruit 150 thousand people - 3 thousand recruits more than in the spring conscription of 2023. The autumn conscription will take place from October 1 to December 31.
The Chief of the Main Organizational and Mobilization Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Colonel General Yevgeny Burdinsky, announced on the eve of the spring conscription for military service that new recruits will not be involved in the SVO. This was announced on April 2 at a thematic conference call Sergei Shoigu, who held the position of head of the Ministry of Defense at that time, recalled the situation with the leadership of the Armed Forces.

[ColonelCassad] US Army is made in China
The report, which is sad for the Pentagon, was published by Govini, an Arlington, Virginia-based company that in 2019 received a five-year, $400 million contract from the Pentagon to provide data, analysis, and information on Defense Department spending, supply chains, and acquisitions.
The report also says that dependence on the Chinese supply chain is present on every major weapons platform, including U.S. aircraft carriers.
It is separately noted that the existing dependence on China cannot be resolved even in a decade. Because a “supply chain” on this scale is an entire economy, since it is a network of many firms that buy and sell from each other.
Spent 400 million dollars to establish the fact of dependence on China.
[THEGATEWAYPUNDIT] The SAVE Act — which requires proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections — passed the House 221-198 on Wednesday.
Nearly every Democrat politician voted to protect the ability of illegals to vote in federal elections.
This is after Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. We get to suffer the consequences... flooded the US with more than 15 million illegal aliens.
The White House issued a statement on Monday, condemning a House Republicans’ bill requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections.
The bill amends the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 to require voters to show documentary proof of United States citizenship. Under current law, states can only require proof of citizenship to register to vote in local and state elections.

"Widespread fraud". They keep using that straw man. Remember one Illinois county swayed the 1960 election to Kennedy. In 2020, there were, what? Five counties. Not a big increase, but still not "widespread".

[FoxNews] The snakes discovered by Chinese authorities include the Texas rat snake and the milk snake
A would-be snake smuggler was apprehended at Futian Port in China, which borders Hong Kong and Shenzhen.
Chinese state media Weixin posted that the smuggler was attempting to transport 104 live snakes into China, where the reptiles can be legally farmed and eaten.
Live animals, however, cannot be legally transported across the border per Chinese law.
China is considered to be a haven for exotic animal smugglers, with many of them being kept as pets or used in medicine and cuisine like shark fin soup. Snake soup is considered a Cantonese delicacy.
Live animal markets, or ‘wet markets,’ continue their popularity despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The would-be smuggler has not been named, and his punishment unspecified, in China's customs authority social media post.
[FoxNews] Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has long admired Donald Trump.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban departed the NATO summit in Washington, D.C., on Thursday to meet with former President Trump in Florida, a source familiar with the meeting told Fox News Digital.
The New York Times first broke the story, citing a Trump campaign official and a person close to the former president. The report did not indicate what the pair would discuss at this impromptu meeting, but Orban has crisscrossed the globe over the past week after assuming the role as president of the European Union.
Orban arrived in the U.S. this week to attend the multi-day NATO summit, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the organization's founding and occurs at a time when members remain concerned about Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine and what the future holds for the broader European Union.
Hungary’s presidency will last six months as part of a rotating leadership scheme for the bloc and does not provide much actual power, but Orban wasted no time in using that office to start holding discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping before his meeting with Trump.
#1
Orban probably thought, "might as well ditch the NATO summit". They probably hate his guts given his latest trips to Peking and Moscow. How dare he try to mediate the UKR-RUS spat.
#3
Orban completes his Leaders of the World tour without them, and with Trump, and suddenly Biden is a home run, a touchdown, and a soccer game with more than 1 goal, all wrapped up in one.

[Regnum] US plans to deploy long-range weapons in Germany and NATO countries' support for this initiative are confidently leading the West and Russia to a cold war, with confrontation, said Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
"We are confidently moving towards a cold war. All this has already happened! And all the attributes of the cold war with confrontation, with direct confrontation are returning," he said in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, who published a recording of the conversation on his Telegram channel on July 11.
The Kremlin spokesman noted that Russia should take into account the actions of Western countries. Peskov expressed confidence that this is not a reason for pessimism. On the contrary, in his opinion, the US plans should push Russia to pull itself together and use its full potential to achieve the goals of the special military operation.
The Kremlin president's press secretary also added that the United States, Germany, France and Britain are directly involved in the Ukrainian conflict.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, on July 10, the United States announced that in 2026 they would begin deploying long-range strike systems, including hypersonic weapons, in Germany. In particular, we are talking about systems such as SM-6 and Tomahawk.
Russian Ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov noted that such a step would be a serious mistake. According to the diplomat, the US initiative threatens international security and strategic stability, and increases the likelihood of an arms race.
On July 11, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the American plan to deploy missiles in Germany was destructive. At the same time, the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized that Russia had expected such a move and had prepared a response in advance. He specified that Moscow would announce specific response measures.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has been extremely positive about the US plans to deploy missiles on German territory. At the same time, Bundestag member Sahra Wagenknecht, leader of the party "Sahra Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice" (BSW), called this American initiative madness.

[Regnum] A dry cargo ship sailing under the Cameroon flag was arrested in the Odessa region. Earlier, the Usko Mfu vessel called in Sevastopol, the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office reported on July 11.
It is specified that Usko Mfu was detained in the port of the city of Reni, and then arrested. Ukrainian security forces also detained the captain of the dry cargo ship, a citizen of Azerbaijan, accusing him of "violating the procedure for entering Crimea."
Searches were conducted on board the dry cargo ship, during which ship documentation, the AIS ship identification system, a computer, as well as documentation issued by the administration of the Sevastopol Sea Trade Port were seized.
According to the Ukrainian side, in November last year, Usko Mfu left Sevastopol loaded with grain weighing more than three thousand tons, intended for a Turkish company. In May of this year, it again called at the port of Sevastopol, where it unloaded cargo from Turkey. Subsequently, the dry cargo ship left the port, indicating the destination as Istanbul, but in reality, it allegedly called at one of the ports of Moldova.
The prosecutor's office claims that before entering the port of Sevastopol, the ship's AIS was allegedly switched off "to conceal illegal activity." Ukrainian authorities accused the crew of violating maritime safety requirements and Ukrainian legislation and are currently deciding on a preventive measure for the captain.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, in March 2018, Ukrainian border guards detained the fishing vessel Nord, registered in Crimea, in the Sea of Azov, accusing the crew of violating the procedure for leaving the territory of the Russian peninsula. The sailors' passports were confiscated and the Russian consul was not allowed to see them. Seven crew members were able to return to Russia only in October 2018 after they were exchanged for seven Ukrainian citizens - members of the crew of the vessel YAMK-0041. The captain was able to return to Russia only in February 2019.

[BREITBART] Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party, fast food franchise owners are being forced to cut their employees’ hours following Gov. Gavin can't be Bee'd Newsom ...mayor of San Francisco as it transformed itself into Poopville, currently governor of California as it transforms itself into Cinderland... ’s (D) $20 minimum wage law, which went into effect in April.
Lawrence Cheng, whose family owns several Wendy’s restaurants in southern California, has had to fill in behind the register to make up for the dramatic cuts, he told the News Agency that Dare Not be Named.
While he used to have "nearly a dozen employees" working the afternoon shift at his Fountain Valley location, he is reportedly down to just seven per shift.
"We kind of just cut where we can," Cheng told the outlet. "I schedule one less person, and then I come in for that time that I didn’t schedule and I work that hour."
Before Newsom’s mandate, he was paying his 250 workers $16 an hour. Now, the only way he can keep up with paying them $20 is to simply have them work fewer hours.
Cheng also said he had to raise menu prices by about 8 percent three months before the law went into effect to offset the increased costs.

Remember, even the COMMIES understand "supply and demand", they just conveniently forget about it when they're grifting and grafting for votes.
[GEO.TV] Many details still need to be hammered out to secure a deal between Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire and the release of hostages from Gaza, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said on Thursday.
"There's still miles to go before we close if we are able to close. So I don't want to say that it's immediately around the corner, but it does not have to be far out in the distance if everyone comes in this with the will to get it done," Sullivan told reporters, adding that there has been no change in policy with regard to a US pause of shipment of 2,000 pound bombs to Israel.
Sullivan also said President Joe Biden will soon give an update on the status of ceasefire talks.

[Breitbart] Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) indicated Wednesday that one of the three suspects arrested for a June 30, 2024, firearm-related New Orleans murder is an illegal alien.
WGNO reported that 19-year-old Joshua Aviala-Bonifacio is the suspect who is in the U.S. illegally. He is alleged to have been involved in the fatal shooting of a New Orleans tour guide, 43-year-old Kristie Thibodaux.
Thibodaux was shot and killed at the corner of Royal and St. Peter streets just after 4:30 a.m. on June 30.
ICE pointed out that on May 11, 2019, "Border Patrol had a run-in with Aviala-Bonifacio in Texas and determined he was inadmissible"
The agency noted Aviala-Bonfiacio’s interactions with law enforcement since entering the country:
On May 14, 2019, the U.S. Border Patrol released Aviala-Bonifacio on an order of recognizance.
On October 6, 2023, the Kenner Police Department (KPD) arrested Aviala-Bonifacio for theft under the alias Joshua Avila.
On February 14, 2024, the KPD again arrested Aviala-Bonifacio for theft, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, and three Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office fugitive attachments.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R) reacted to ICE’s announcement on Aviala-Bonifacio in a post on X:
One of the other suspects allegedly connected to the murder is a 15-year-old boy who "was supposedly under supervision by an electronic ankle monitoring device."

[Regnum] The Russian Aerospace Forces carried out high-precision strikes on targets of illegal armed groups in the Syrian province of Idlib. This was reported on July 11 by Oleg Ignasyuk, deputy head of the Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria.
“In order to prevent ongoing violations of the ceasefire regime, the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out high-precision strikes on targets of illegal armed formations on July 10,” he said during a briefing.
Ignasyuk specified that the Russian military destroyed a militant training camp near the settlement of Ashkhani-Takhtani, a workshop for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and two drone warehouses. As a result of the strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces, 15 militants were eliminated, and another 20 were wounded.
According to him, over the past 24 hours, six attacks on positions of Syrian government troops by militants have been recorded in the Idlib de-escalation zone. As a result of the dropping of an improvised explosive device from a UAV in the Urum al-Sughra area, two servicemen were injured.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 30, the deputy head of the Center for the Prevention of Cruelty to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Yuri Popov reported that in Syria, two Syrian servicemen were wounded in shelling by the terrorist groups Jabhat al-Nusra (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) and the Islamic Party of Turkestan (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation). He emphasized that control over compliance with the ceasefire regime continues in Syria. Russian military police units conducted patrols in the provinces of Aleppo, Raqqa, and Hasakah.
On July 3, a dangerous approach of an An-30 of the Russian Aerospace Forces with a Typhoon fighter of the so-called international coalition led by the United States occurred over the Syrian province of Homs. The incident occurred over the Et-Tanf region between 09:44 and 09:51 local time (coincides with Moscow time), a collision was avoided thanks to the professionalism of the Russian pilot, who took the necessary measures in a timely manner, Popov emphasized.
