[NEWARAB] A coalition of hundreds of activists led by Paleostinian organisers held a rally and marched through downtown Milwaukee on the first day of the Republican National Convention.
In addition to pro-Paleostinian activists protesting US support of Israel's war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... , the gathering drew union members, women's rights activists, members of the LGBTQ+ community, Blacks, Hispanics and Native Americans.
"I'm here with Teamsters Local 344, and I'm here to protest with everyone else to show our city's discontent with holding an event like this here," Kris K., a Milwaukee-based employee with the United Parcel Service, told The New Arab, marching with other union members near the Milwaukee River, a short walk from the convention.
"Milwaukee isn't the kind of city where it makes sense to hold the RNC with their bigoted views and their regressive policies. The city is full of union people and working class people and people of colour who are not OK with the Republicans holding their convention here," the union member added.
The gathering, estimated to be around 800, started with a presser at Red Arrow Park, then a rally with speakers representing Paleostinians, Blacks and other groups, followed by a march through the city's downtown lasting over an hour. Demonstrators came from across the US to join the protests, though most appeared to be local or from the Midwest.
People carried Paleostinian flags, signs related to women's healthcare, and multiple other signs indicating the RNC wasn't welcome in Milwaukee. There were also a handful of signs in support of Biden, though most demonstrators focused on specific issues that the RNC opposes.
Standing on the sidelines of the march were small groups of counter-demonstrators holding signs denouncing gays, Moslems, child sacrifice abortion, and other issues that most of the marchers appeared to support.
Azmi Alaeddin, a 50-year resident of Milwaukee originally from Jerusalem, who immigrated to the US from Kuwait, marched at the front of the demonstration holding a tall Paleostinian flag. He told TNA that he came to protest US support for Israel's war in Gaza.
"It means a lot to me, but it touches me more, because those are my people. It could be me there. It could be my kids being killed there. I could be under the rubble," he said, adding that he had hoped the demonstration would be bigger.

[NEWARAB] Bangladeshi students set fire to the country's state broadcaster on Thursday as protests against civil service hiring rules escalated, with the death toll mounting to at least 39 and authorities imposing what one monitor called a "near-total" internet blackout
Police fired rubber bullets at hundreds of protesters, who fought back and chased retreating officers to the headquarters of Bangladesh Television (BTV) in the capital Dhaka.
Demonstrators set ablaze the broadcaster's reception building and dozens of vehicles parked outside. A station executive later told AFP that staff had safely evacuated the building.
A day earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a national address on the network seeking to calm the escalating clashes.
"Our first demand is that the prime minister must apologise to us," protester Bidisha Rimjhim, 18, told AFP.
"Secondly, justice must be ensured for our killed brothers," she added.
As night fell, Bangladesh was plunged into a "near-total" internet shutdown, outage monitor NetBlocks said.
It said the latest outage "follows earlier efforts to throttle social media and restrict mobile data services" - key communication tools for protest organisers.
Near-daily marches this month have demanded an end to a quota system that reserves more than half of civil service posts for specific groups, including children of veterans from the country's 1971 liberation war against Pakistan.
Critics say the scheme benefits children of pro-government groups that back Hasina, 76, who has ruled the country since 2009 and won her fourth consecutive election in January after a vote without genuine opposition.
[NEWARAB] Various Palestinian factions from different quarters unanimously condemned on Thursday a Human Rights Watch (HRW) report, in which the organisation accused Palestinian armed groups of committing war crimes on 7 October 2023.
The factions accused HRW of presenting a "misleading and biased narrative" in favour of Israel while its genocidal war on Gaza enters the tenth month.
On Wednesday, the HRW published a report in which it accused Palestinian armed factions in Gaza of allegedly committing "war crimes" during a Hamas-led surprise attack on Israeli military bases and civilian settlements within and around the Gaza envelope on 7 October.
But the report notably did not focus on the suffering and destruction suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza by Israel's continuous attacks or prior to October 7.
HRW claimed that it spent nine months examining footage from Palestinian fighters' body cameras, mobile phones, vehicle-mounted cameras, and monitoring cameras. The rights group also claimed it examined satellite imagery and analysed dozens of audio recordings, most of which were shared on Telegram channels belonging to various armed Palestinian groups.
Five armed Palestinian groups, including Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the armed wing of Fatah, Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, were involved in the attack against Israeli sites, the HRW alleged.
'DELIBERATELY IGNORING PALESTINIAN SUFFERING' "The HRW's report ignores details shared by the Israeli media and research institutions that denied the alleged incidents of beheading and rape, and [the report] also deliberately ignored the entity's use of the Hannibal protocol, which caused the largest number of casualties among [Israelis]," the PIJ said in a press statement shared with The New Arab.
The PIJ further said that the HRW's report reveals "its complete bias towards the Israeli occupation by deliberately ignoring the suffering of the Palestinian people before 7 October and the war of extermination and crimes against them after it, especially in the case of Palestinian prisoners held by Israel".
The PIJ stressed that it has full commitment to "adhering to the values of the Islamic religion, as evidenced by our treatment of the prisoners in our hands," and holds HRW "responsible for the lies and slander contained in its report".
"HRW encourages the Israeli occupation to commit more massacres and slaughters and continue the war of extermination against the Palestinian people," the PIJ concluded.
"The [HRW] report adopts the misleading Israeli narrative that has been proven to be false and there is no evidence for its validity, noting that it is also offensive to the Palestinian people and their struggle," the Popular Front for the Liberation, for its part, said in a press statement to TNA.
[AFRICANEWS] In an address to the nation Wednesday, Haiti's Prime Minister called gangs to surrender their weapons.
“Life every day in Port-au-Prince has turned into a battle for survival,” Gary Conille said.
According to the UN, 2,500 people, including at least 82 children, were killed, or injured because of gang violence in the first three months of the year.
It is estimated that gangs control about 80% of the capital.
“Drop your weapons and recognize the authority of the state,” Conille said in a message to gangs.
When assuming office in June, Conille promised to "deliver" for the Caribbean nation grappling with overlapping security, humanitarian and political crises.
Earlier this month, Jimmy Cherizier, a powerful gang leader accused the Prime minister of not opening dialogue with the alliance that he represents.
Cherizier who is best known as Barbecue called for a national dialogue.
A Multinational Security Support Mission comprising police officers from Kenya, Chad and Benin is deploying to Haiti with a mandate to help their local counterparts restore security.
In late February, gangs launched coordinated attacks targeting key state infrastructure. They seized control of more than two dozen police stations; opened fire on the main international airport, forcing it to close for nearly three months; and stormed Haiti’s two biggest prisons, releasing more than 4,000 inmates.
The violence led to the resignation of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry in late April and the installation of a transitional presidential council and Conille as the new prime minister.
Diego Da Rin, with the International Crisis Group, noted that gang violence began diminishing in late May, with the first contingent of Kenyans arriving in late June.
He noted that so far, Kenyans appeared to have limited their patrols to neighborhoods in Port-au-Prince that have not been seized by gangs.
[AFRICANEWS] The United States late Wednesday announced the extension of a humanitarian truce ..The purposes of a truce are twofold: 1.) bring up more arms, ammunition, and reinforcements; and 2.) get the enemy to relax his vigilance. A truce is not the same thing as a ceasefire, and a ceasefire doesn't mean you have to stop shooting... that had reduced fighting in eastern Congo even as violence and human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... abuses continue there, leading to calls for an end to the conflict to allow displaced people to return home.
The latest truce in the decades-long conflict that was to end on Friday has been extended by 15 days until August 3, the U.S. State Department said in a statement that urged all actors "to respect the truce" that had been violated since it took effect on July 5.
The violence concentrated in the eastern North Kivu province has resulted not just in arbitrary killings and arrests but also in sexual abuses with women and kiddies affected the most, according to Carine Kaneza Nantulya of the Human Rights Watch, who spoke at a briefing on Wednesday about the situation in Congo.
"The violence being committed against women and girls is not only in the areas of war but also when they go and try to find water or food outside of camps," said Nantulya.
The decades-long conflict in eastern Congo has produced one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with over 100 gangs fighting for control of the mineral-rich area near the border with Rwanda. A key actor in the conflict — the M23 group — is allegedly backed by Rwanda.
Along with other groups, the rebels are accused of carrying out mass killings in the conflict that has spread from the front lines to surrounding villages, and displaced at least 7 million people, many beyond the reach of aid. Aid groups have complained of insufficient resources even for those within their reach.
In recent months, people fleeing violence have also had to dodge artillery fire and dronezaps.

[TOLONEWS] Germany plans to halve its military aid to Ukraine next year, despite concerns that U.S. support for Kyiv could potentially diminish if Republican candidate Donald Trump ...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party... returns to the White House.
German aid to Ukraine will be cut to 4 billion euros ($4.35 billion) in 2025 from around 8 billion euros in 2024, according to a draft of the 2025 budget seen by Rooters.
Germany hopes Ukraine will be able to meet the bulk of its military needs with the %50 billion in loans from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets approved by the Group of Seven, and that funds earmarked for armaments will not be fully used.
"Ukraine's financing is secured for the foreseeable future thanks to European instruments and the G7 loans," German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Wednesday at a news conference.
Washington pushed to "front load" the loans to give Ukraine a big lump sum now.
Officials say EU leaders agreed to the idea in part because it reduces the chance of Ukraine being short of funds if Trump returns to the White House.
Alarm bells rang across Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... this week after Trump picked Senator J.D Vance, who opposes military aid for Ukraine and warned Europe will have to rely less on the United States to defend the continent, as his candidate for vice president.
Trump sparked fierce criticism from Western officials for suggesting he would not protect countries that failed to meet the transatlantic military alliance's defence spending targets and would even encourage Russia to attack them.
Germany has faced criticism for repeatedly missing a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Originally it was a mutual defense pact directed against an expansionist Soviet Union. In later years it evolved into a mechanism for picking the American pocket while criticizing the cut of the American pants... target of spending 2% of its economic output on defence.

[TOLONEWS] Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister, called on the international community to eliminate the centers of ISIS and other terrorist groups in the region, during a public meeting at the ministry's headquarters.
Muttaqi, without naming any country, stated that some countries are allowing the bases of terrorist groups to operate outside of Afghanistan.
The acting Foreign Minister said: "We call on the world to eliminate the centers of ISIS and similar groups in the region, outside of Afghanistan. Why are they allowing these bases to operate? Why do they not stop those who use these groups? Why do they provide individuals and raw materials for them?"
The acting government official added that certain restrictions were put in place during the days of Muharram as special measures for the Ashura ceremonies. Muttaqi expressed satisfaction with the special measures during this year's Ashura ceremonies and emphasized that the Islamic Emirate does not differentiate between citizens.
Amir Khan Muttaqi also mentioned that some circles spread propaganda about the creation of certain restrictions in Muharram; however, some of these restrictions were considered special measures for the Ashura ceremonies.
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The International Federation of Red Thingy and Red Islamic Thingy (IFRC) announced the killing of two Sudan ...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans... ese Red Islamic Thingy Society (SRCS) volunteers in the conflict-ridden Sennar.
Since the conflict in Sudan began in mid-April of last year, the Sudanese Red Islamic Thingy has lost six volunteers.
"The IFRC is deeply saddened to confirm the deaths of two SRCS volunteers, Babiker Fadl al-Mawli on July 5, 2024, and Aldow Jaber Ali on July 12, 2024," read a statement released on Wednesday.
Both volunteers were killed in the line of duty in Sennar State, added the international humanitarian network, without providing further details about the circumstances of their deaths.
The IFRC called for the protection of humanitarian workers, stressing that it is both a legal and moral obligation.
The statement urged all parties to respect international humanitarian law and protect aid workers. "The loss of our staff and volunteers is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by humanitarian workers in conflict zones."
The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) clashed with the Sudanese army in the southeast state last June and took control of several areas in Sennar.

[GEO.TV] An Israeli parliament vote to oppose a Palestinian state as an "existential threat", just days ahead of a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington, brought Palestinian and international criticism on Thursday.
The 120-member Knesset late on Wednesday passed by 68 votes to nine a resolution that said a Palestinian state on land occupied by Israel would "perpetuate the Israel-Palestinian conflict and destabilise the region".

The announcement came after a European activist group released a report saying the Gaza Strip is "drowning" in hundreds of thousands of tonnes of human waste and rubble from the Israel-Hamas war.
The Gaza ministry said thousands of people in crowded tent cities of war-displaced were now at risk of contracting the highly infectious disease, which can cause deformities and paralysis.

[GEO.TV] A magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck northern Chile on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey said, with no tsunami warning immediately issued.
The epicenter of the tremor was located 164 miles (265 kilometers) east of the coastal city of Antofagasta, at a depth of 78.5 miles (126 kilometers).
Chile is situated along the Pacific "Ring of Fire", an arc of intense seismic activity that stretches from Japan through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin.
In 2010, an 8.8-magnitude quake unleashed a tsunami that swept away entire villages in the south and center of the country, leaving about 520 people dead.
Bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Andes mountain range to the east, Chile is also one of the most seismically active countries in the world.
The epicenter of Thursday's earthquake was located about 50 miles from Chile's border with Argentina, and less than 20 miles from its border with Bolivia.

[FoxNews - liveblog] Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., wrote on X Friday that “whistleblowers tell me that MOST of Trump’s security detail working the event last Saturday were not even Secret Service.
“DHS assigned unprepared and inexperienced personnel,” he added, posting a letter he sent today to United States Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas.
“Whistleblowers who have direct knowledge of the event have approached my office. According to the allegations, the July 13 rally was considered to be a ‘loose’ security event. For example, detection canines were not used to monitor entry and detect threats in the usual manner,” Hawley wrote. “Individuals without proper designations were able to gain access to backstage areas. Department personnel did not appropriately police the security buffer around the podium and were also not stationed at regular intervals around the event’s security perimeter.”
“In addition, whistleblower allegations suggest the majority of DHS officials were not in fact USSS agents but instead drawn from the department’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). This is especially concerning given that HSI agents were unfamiliar with standard protocols typically used at these types of events, according to the allegations,” Hawley also said.
Hawley used the letter to ask Mayorkas to respond to multiple questions regarding security at the Trump campaign event.

CONGRESS DENIED ACCESS TO CRUCIAL TRUMP PROTECTION PLAN SCREAMS 'COVER YOUR A-- MODE': EXPERT
BUTLER, Pa. — Congress was denied access to the integral Ops Report that details the protection plan for former President Trump's rally, according to a lawmaker who was at Wednesday's FBI briefing and spoke to Fox News Digital on the condition of anonymity.
Paul Mauro, an attorney and retired NYPD inspector, said the Ops Report "should detail who was supposed to cover the area of the roof that (Thomas Matthew) Crooks fired from."
"If there was no Ops Plan done, or if it didn't cover that rooftop, whoever signed off on it failed badly," Mauro said.
The detailed, written plan was in the hands of the FBI as of Thursday afternoon, according to Mauro, who said the information came from a source "I absolutely, 100% trust." The FBI declined to comment.
TRUMP SHOOTER SIGNED UP TO ATTEND RALLY A WEEK BEFORE IT HAPPENED: REPORT
A person using the name Thomas Matthew Crooks signed up on July 6 to attend the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where the assassination attempt unfolded, according to ABC News.
A source familiar with the matter told the network that the individual used an encrypted email address and a cell phone number to complete the signup.
The Trump campaign reportedly announced on July 3 that the rally would be happening on July 13 in Butler.
Crooks died that day after opening fire at former President Trump.
SECRET SERVICE HAD ‘AWFUL QUICK TURN AROUND’ IN PREPARING TRUMP RALLY SITE, ORGANIZER SAYS
The president of the Butler Farm Show – where former President Trump held his rally on Saturday when the assassination attempt unfolded – tells the New York Times that Secret Service agents first visited the site less than a week before the event.
Organizers for Trump’s campaign asked to use the site in Butler on July 3 before Secret Service agents showed up to scan the area on July 8, Ken Laughlin said to the newspaper.
"It just seemed like an awful quick turn around,” he said.
Trump's rally was supposed to be held at the Butler County Airport -- but the airport was already booked out for July 13 for the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company’s annual Mega Cruise car show, according to Stephanie Saracco, the Butler County Airport Manager.
Trump held a rally at the airport on October 31, 2020 as President.

Not weighing on the scales one way or another, but the Fox liveblog llinked in the post has this from an hour ago:
FBI says social media allegations on executive attending Pennsylvania rally are false
"The allegations circulating on social media about an FBI executive and the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania are categorically false. To be clear, the person depicted is not her and she did not attend the rally. The men and women of the FBI work tirelessly and selflessly to protect others every day, and false rumors and conspiracy theories targeting these dedicated public servants are reprehensible and irresponsible. They are also dangerous and often lead to threats against them and their families. The FBI will continue to work with our partners to hold accountable anyone who makes violent threats against them or any of our colleagues in law enforcement.”

Seriously, FBI, at this point, just because you claim anything is false, you expect us to believe you? I've pretty much reached the point where I assume ANY GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL is lying. Because so often that turns out to be the case.

I'll admit, I work in the oilfield and yet our minivan is a hybrid. Plug in hybrid. And yes, it's saved us money. We used to have a Honda Pilot, very nice, touring model. But it did it's job and sacrificed itself to protect my wife when someone T-boned the car next to her and threw them at her. She was okay, just some bruises. Good car, did it's job. Now I have to replace it. Needed kidmobile for short haul trips mostly. So we found a used Pacifica hybrid and bought it, got a fast charger installed. So now my wife can take the kids to school and sports, all of which are less than 16 miles so she can make the entire trip on electric. Costs maybe $17 for an entire month. That's about $40 less than the pilot for one fill up and she was doing 2-3 month. So $17 vs $150/month for gas. In this case, it makes sense. We got a decent deal on it used. Would I get a purely electric one? HELL NO. There is a use for them, as a supplement, not as a primary drive train and sole source of power for a car. I'm also already looking for a future replacement that's an ICE. Hopefully around the time my kids can be trusted not to cave in the doors of cars parked next to us.

[FoxNews] Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts served no jail time, had his driver's license suspended for a year.
Mary Jo Kopechne, 28 years old and a respected political operative, was found dead in the overturned car of Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., in a tidal pond near Chappaquiddick Island on this day in history, July 19, 1969.
Known as the "Chappaquiddick incident," the drowning death of Kopechne and the chain of events before and after the tragedy became a national scandal for the young senator from Massachusetts — and "derailed Ted Kennedy’s presidential ambitions for good," noted the History Channel.

In DC Republican circles soon after the incident, the insider story was "A third theory has a third person in the car (Rosemary Keough: one of the six “boiler room girls” at the party). A variation of this suggests that it was, rather, a prominent politician’s wife whom Ted wanted to mess around with. Mary Jo was in the back seat sleeping, unbeknownst to Ted and his mistress (having said she was tired at the party (or alcohol/drug effects), and wishing to get away from the noise there). When the accident happened, Ted and the woman escaped, apparently still not knowing that Mary Jo was in the back seat. So either Ted didn’t know she was there until much later when she failed to turn-up at home. It explained the huge time hole in his story and simply had to be hidden.
[ABC] LONDON -- Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich has been sentenced to 16 years in a Russian penal colony on charges of espionageafter a guilty verdict was announced in the American journalist's trial on Friday.
The State Prosecutors Office in Russia were looking for a sentence of 18 years but was given 16 instead.
The trial of Wall Street Journal reporter moved to closing arguments early Friday morning after only two days of hearings in a case his newspaper and the United States have denounced as a sham.
Gershkovich has already been in detention for 15 months.
The exceptional speed of the trial has prompted speculation that Russia may be hurrying to convict Gershkovich in order to conduct a prison exchange that may have been agreed. In the past, Russia has preferred to only trade people once they have been convicted. However, the State Department on Thursday said it doesn’t have any assessment of why the trial was moved up so quickly.

Watch the hands, not the lips. [Free Beacon] The White House hosted anti-Semitic activist Linda Sarsour
…who led the triumvirate in charge of the anti-Trump pussy march in January 2017 after they drove out the Jewish team that started it. They were the ones who refused to allow any Zionist Trump protesters to participate, openly drawing a clear line between Good Progressives and liberal Zionists….
in May 2023, three years after then-candidate Joe Biden publicly disavowed the prominent Jew hater, citing her long record of anti-Israel incitement and support for boycotting the Jewish state.
Sarsour—who has compared Zionism to "white supremacy in America" and questions Israel’s right to exist—appears to have attended a White House celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a Muslim holiday that marks the end of the Ramadan fasting period. Sarsour joined around 400 others at a White House event that day, visitor logs show. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), the Squad member who also has trafficked in anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and championed anti-Israel priorities in Congress, attended as well.
Sarsour’s appearance at the White House, which garnered little attention at the time, occurred just three years after the Biden campaign publicly cut ties with her over support for the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement and long history of anti-Israel advocacy.
She is one of several well-known anti-Semites to have been hosted at the White House in recent years, visitor logs show, even as the Biden administration claims to be combating an explosion of Jew hatred across America in the wake of Hamas’s Oct. 7 strike on Israel. Other White House partners have included the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), one of the primary advocacy groups driving anti-Israel unrest across the country.

Wow! Trump gets shot because people want to M.A.G.A. and he's winning.
Simply stated, the far left crossed the line for even left of center democrats, and the nation overall is fed up with the Weird Far left.
Now, suddenly 5 days later.
* The LSD's can see Biden is an empty brain cavity and needs to quit.
*Corporate America starts dumping a number of Far left Radical / Racial / Climate / ESG, and etc. agenda items (for now).
* The DC Swamp actually starts inditing (D's) and etc.
Corporate America sees the writing on the wall and wants to be Profitable.
The Liberals, Socialist and Democrats want to stay out of Jail and/or get re-elected to help avoid it. Are desperately trying to find a viable candidate, or changing their political tone or party.
The Liberal Left DC Swamp sees it is going to lose cover and control.
Now, I wonder if there is a Biden Blanket Pardon in the works to Cover Their Crimes. Before DR. J get a settlement fund and Biden steps down.
Guess facial rec doesn't work for head shots.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Experts are sounding the alarm about techniques used to identify the assassin who tried to kill Donald Trump, saying the methods raise grave concerns about privacy.
The gunman, 'loner' Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was not carrying an ID, had no criminal record, nearly zero digital footprint and no friends, forcing the FBI to resort to DNA analysis to identity him.
As Kevin Rojek, the special agent-in-charge (SAIC) for the FBI's Pittsburgh field office, told reporters just hours after the shooting on Saturday, 'We're trying to run his DNA and get biometric confirmation.'
While the FBI declined to answer DailyMail.com's requests for details on how they did this DNA analysis, experts say it has often included scouring consumer genealogy databases like Ancestory.com and 23andMe — which store tens of millions of Americans' biometric data each.
And now, newer private DNA database companies have entered the market, firms that cater explicitly to the federal government and law enforcement as their clients.
SAIC Rojek added that the Bureau was also 'looking at photographs' to help ID the shooter, part of a multi-agency effort to put a name to the dead would-be assassin.
As experts told the DailyMail.com, a state-level facial recognition database held by Pennsylvania's Department of Motor Vehicles, fingerprints held as part routine criminal background checks by Crooks' employers and other government registries — while unnamed by the FBI — likely also played a role.
One parallel effort conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) 'completed an urgent trace' that ultimately led to the 'business records from a closed gun dealer,' according to an ATF statement.
That effort, a frantic, manual search through the closed gun shop's paper records, helped trace the rifle to the Crooks' father, according to a report by CNN.
'Results were provided to the FBI and Secret Service in less than 30 minutes that helped identify the shooter,' ATF reported a day after the FBI's DNA announcement.
Civil liberties advocates, however, noted that the increasing reliance on DNA databases by police not only raises privacy concerns, but the tactics have also led to false identifications and wrongful arrests, court records show.
An attorney who overturned one such case told DailyMail.com that these sprawling DNA databases can lead to misidentifications because today's crime scene forensics can recover DNA from extremely small and too often unrelated human debris.
As we have been warned.
The Fed's don't need a warrant, since Social Media and many Commercial / Internet companies supplement their income by selling user / customer data.
All the FED's or anyone (China, Russia, Iran and etc.. ) else needs is $$$$$ to buy the data.
Even Politico ran an article back in 02/2024 on this.

The DNA stuff is sexy but dubious. What database would you be checking against? More likely fingerprints, the fact that the parents called in a report earlier, and a vehicle license plate. Facial recognition with the Dept of Motor Vehicles database would depend on having a mostly intact face. Mining ATF records for ammo and gun sales could turn up some leads.

Possible Ways.
Fingerprint comparison to abandon van. prints.
Vehicle License Tag used for Owner ID discovery.
Address of tag used to verify home and parents.
Firearm Serial # used to acquire possible ID then from there use to trace/track.

#9 is spot-on. You have no expectation of privacy and the DNA data banks are open for exploitation of familial connections for investigations of known suspects. It will allow the ID of remote family members who might be confederates or accessories of know criminal suspects.

[AmericanThinker] Many people are justifiably tired of failed overseas wars, fought by men who were lions but led by donkeys, in which defeat was consistently wrested from the jaws of victory. These conflicts led to trillions of dollars in wasted money, over 8,000 lost American lives, and entire regions upended and sent into the chaos, which has fueled the current immigration crisis in Europe and, partially, the United States.
It can be tempting, with the current "Specter of the Global War on Terror" under which we live, to be cynical: "No more overseas bases" and cries to eliminate our military presence in over a hundred countries can be a seductive reaction to the abject failure of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I served in both conflicts as a soldier in the United States Army, and the day Kabul fell was similar to how many Vietnam veterans felt when they witnessed the fall of Saigon.
INTERNATIONAL STRATEGY
The economic lifeblood of a nation like the United States in 2024 is international trade — both the import and export of goods. To start: It is an abject crime against the national security of our nation that we have exported our manufacturing jobs overseas since the 1970s. Although this is a key factor in many of the problems affecting the U.S. today (see the cultural decline of the Rust Belt), it is not the most important theme in this article.
Even if the United States can manage to return manufacturing jobs to the USA, we will still need to safely and securely export those manufactured goods to other nations. And unless we are exporting to Mexico and Canada (and in some cases, even then), those goods must be transported using naval ships.
There are four key "chokepoints" to global trade: the Strait of Malacca in Asia; the Panama Canal in Central America; the Suez Canal in Africa and the Middle East; and the Strait of Gibraltar, which is the gate between the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Many billions of dollars in U.S. overseas trade traverse all of these, and there are many other sea lanes important to U.S. trade that I do not have the space to elaborate on (Hormuz being one of them).
Although one might ask, "Why not just go around them?," it is important to remember that operating a ship costs fuel, pay and medical insurance for the crew, and maintenance. Without the use of these sea lanes, the price of international trade would go up significantly.

After working in an Embassy, I realized that USAID was a money laundering event, FMS was a bribery tool, and none of them worked. We need to end ALL foreign aid. There is no return on the dollar. Take the money we spend on water in other countries and fix our broken water systems. Fix our roads, end our national debt.

[MSN] A major IT outage reportedly linked to the U.S. cybersecurity company Crowdstrike has caused chaos for businesses across the world.
The global software issue has forced many banks, airlines and broadcasters to go offline, and caused many Windows computers to crash suddenly.
In a post on its website, Crowdstrike said: "Crowdstrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows related to the Falcon Sensor."
Microsoft has warned of a "severe degradation" to its services, but added that a number of its products had been restored.
Among the services still impacted is Microsoft Teams, on which users may be unable to access group chats. Microsoft Purview, Microsoft 365 admin center, Microsoft Fabric, and PowerBI are all still affected, the company said.
Commenting on the outages, Microsoft said: "We're continuing to progress on our mitigation efforts for the affected Microsoft 365 apps and services. We still expect users to see remediation as we address residual impact." Yep. Got a call after midnight MST and still on at 3am. BSOD loop. Only way to fix it is to boot the computer into safe mode and remove the bad driver. I work for a hospital that has bitlocker too so we are looking at thousands of computer that need to be physically touched to fix this since it can't be automated. Expect banking, finance, hospitals, airlines and government sites to be offline for a couple days.

Today is my county's deadline for real estate tax payments. I submitted an online payment days ago and my bank account didn't show it as being processed. Fortunately my bank website is still working and it shows the payment has having been made (a few minutes ago).

Since this update put a wide variety of machines (bare metal as well as virtual) in a very conspicuous service-denied state one of the following assumptions is true.
1.) A billion dollar software company selling a crucial security software package released a patch without even performing a basic automated token test on its own hardware before publication.
2.) This was a deliberate act of sabotage. Perhaps some nefarious action somewhere in the world can only be taken if certain IT systems are disabled for a couple of hours.
This is not a subtle error and it affects mostly corporate customers who are running the software on standardized hardware and software environments known to Crowdstrike.
We would have to assume that this patch was released before being tested at all, either on real hardware in VMs customized to resemble customer's IT infrastructure or in full emulation.
Interesting things of this nature would have caught by even trivial automated testing.

[MAIL] The state of Saxony-Anhalt has cut the benefits of asylum seekers who refused to pick up debris following heavy flooding in east Germany for less than a pound an hour.
64 migrants had been written to by local authorities demanding they help clear rubbish and erect dykes for a wage of just 80 cents (68p) per hour after devastating floods in the area at the end of last year which saw hundreds of residents in parts of Germany forced to evacuate.
39 people agreed to help, while the rest, who are said to be from Syria, Afghanistan, Niger, Mali and Albania, failed to turn up.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The fed up Mayor of San Francisco has said the time for compassion is over as she announced plans to tackle the city's homeless crisis which has left locals fearing for their safety.
Mayor London Breed revealed the city is set to take a 'very aggressive' approach to remove encampments from the streets which have blighted the City by the Bay for the past four years.
Certain parts of the city, including the troubled Tenderloin district have become known for their squalor and misery, becoming so bad that local businesses unable to recruit staff and residents have felt forced to flee.
The rise in the number of homeless, now about 8,300 people, has brought with it a myriad of other associated problems filling the sidewalks with illegal drug dealers, fentanyl users and all round violent and intimidating behavior close to the tent encampments.
'We have had to move from a compassionate city to a city of accountability, and I have been leading the efforts to ensure that we are addressing this issue differently than we have before,' Breed said on Thursday in a change of tack on the issue.
'We are going to be very aggressive and assertive in moving encampments which may even include criminal penalties,' she explained with the 'sweeps' scheduled to begin in less than two weeks once staff are retrained to follow new legal guidance.
Her comments come just three weeks after the Supreme Court granted cities the power to evict unhoused people from encampments.
'The problem is not going to be solved by building more housing,' Breed said. 'Thank goodness for the Supreme Court decision.'
In December 2022, a federal magistrate judge prevented the city of San Francisco from clearing homeless tents although it was not banned from sweeping encampments.
The judge ordered city officials to stop forcing homeless people from public camping sites unless they have been offered appropriate shelter indoors.
Officials were also prevented from issuing citations or arresting people who refused to move.
But now the Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling bestows more power to the city in assisting with the clearing, officials plan to offer shelter and support to help those affected.
The case was the most significant on the issue to come before the high court in decades and comes as cities across the country have wrestled with the politically complicated issue of how to deal with a rising number of people without a permanent place to live and public frustration over related health and safety issues.
'We will continue to lead with services, but we also can't continue to allow people to do what they want on the streets of San Francisco, especially when we have a place for them to go,' Breed said.

So it flee or Die.
As we know, England's former EU Open Border policy has allowed too many migrants to come in. Once here, they focus their numbers in areas, that then allow them to gain increased political say.
(Sounds like some Metro's in the USA?)
Now they are openly implementing their cultural ways, morals, community rules/laws and former country's aggressive ways. All pretty much as they please.
Kinda the same OPEN BORDERS Invasion Obama/Biden & The LSD's have inflicted on the USA. To the tune of between 10.4 to 14 Million based on latest figures.

"Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the Queen: all know how to die: but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilisation of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilisation of ancient Rome."

I think in Western elite circles the importance of the consent of the governed and a cultural consensus about principles of right and wrong are dangerously underestimated.
Western law enforcement is about dealing with the unusual and exceptional events. Law enforcement is not an internal occupation army.
Stability and the rule of law are a consequence of the consent of the governed.
If the consent goes away for whatever reason they vanish suddenly.

The Democrats fail at everything except where payoffs occur. This current administration is a perfect example of one failure after another. The rot runs deep but its foundations are breaking away under their feet. Trump certainly has seized the day.
says Iran born columnist she is known to have high level sources in Tehran
[IsraelTimes] When intelligence officials briefed Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in May ahead of a snap presidential election, their report was grim: angered by economic hardship and crackdowns on social freedoms, most Iranians planned to boycott the vote and turnout would only be about 13 percent.
That's when Khamenei decided to plan a carefully orchestrated election, setting the stage for a little-known but trusted moderate, Masoud Pezeshkian, to rise to the presidency in a race that would initially be dominated by hardliners, five people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters.,,,
"It was a flawless plan by the supreme leader... which guaranteed the survival of the Islamic Republic," said Tehran-based pro-reform analyst Saeed Laylaz.
"Pezeshkian will avoid any crisis at home, whether with the nation or the establishment," Laylaz said. "That will allow top leaders to decide about the succession and plan it in a calm atmosphere."
[KCCI] Bob Newhart, the deadpan accountant-turned-comedian who became one of the most popular TV stars of his time after striking gold with a classic comedy album, has died at 94.
Jerry Digney, Newhart's publicist, says the actor died Thursday in Los Angeles after a series of short illnesses.
Newhart, best remembered now as the star of two hit television shows of the 1970s and 1980s that bore his name, launched his career as a standup comic in the late 1950s. He gained nationwide fame when his routine was captured on vinyl in 1960 as "The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart," which went on to win a Grammy Award as album of the year.

19:22 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:
About the next combined strike of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Crimea
This night, after a long break, Ukrainian forces carried out a massive combined attack on the peninsula, using unmanned aerial vehicles and unmanned boats.
After midnight, Russian air defense units, the Black Sea Fleet, special forces and paratroopers repelled the attack almost all night. The first waves of UAVs were recorded in the Yevpatoriya district of Crimea along with BEKs.
At least 24 UAVs were shot down by the 31st Division and suppressed by electronic warfare in the west of the peninsula. The debris hit several objects near Yevpatoria, but the damage was not significant.
At the same time, a group of unmanned boats attempted to attack Black Sea Fleet facilities on Lake Donuzlav, as well as northwest of Sevastopol. Naval aviation boats and helicopters were called in to intercept them.
Despite the fact that Ukrainian resources present a whole list of damaged coastal objects as a successful result of the attack, this is not so. The footage of explosions is the result of the work of our servicemen, who destroyed ten BEKs that night.
In addition, nine more drones were shot down by the 31st Air Force and Air Defense Division in Sevastopol. The sounds of explosions woke up many residents around 4 a.m., but the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not reach their targets this time.
However, there is no time to relax. There have been no missile strikes on the peninsula for a long time, and today's attack could be a harbinger of them, given that the massive drone strikes are aimed at depleting air defense reserves.
In addition, for several weeks, deliveries of Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles and ballistic ATACMS continued to be delivered to the territory of the so-called Ukraine. According to our data, the Ukrainian Armed Forces currently have about 20 ATACMS with a range of up to 300 km and over 50 cruise missiles in their warehouses.

Having received the target coordinates, the self-propelled artillery vehicle 152mm 2S19 Msta-S crew arrived at the firing position, aimed the combat vehicle at the target and destroyed the Ukrainian Armed Forces stronghold camouflaged in a forest belt along the route of the assault units. The artillerymen also defeated the enemy manpower that had taken up defense at the stronghold. The Orlan-30 UAV crews performed fire adjustment and target engagement control.

Storming of Chasov Yar, July 18
After some lull in the city limits, an advance along the northern flank began. In the area of Kalinovka, the front line began to shift to the west. At the moment, the watershed of the defensive lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is still the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal. The Russian Armed Forces advanced in the area of ??abandoned ponds and forest.
In this area, several Ukrainian units are suffering heavy losses: the 225th assault battalion of the 127th Troops Brigade, the 21st motorized infantry battalion of the 56th Separate Mechanized Brigade, as well as units of the 21st Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was left practically without equipment.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have been holding their positions on the western side of the canal for the past 14 days by transporting a large number of mobilized personnel from neighboring cities - Kramatorsk, Slavyansk, Druzhkovka, Konstantinovka, as well as from several large cities in central Ukraine.
Judging by the activity of the Ukrainian Armed Forces over the last 72 hours, the Ukrainian army command managed to solve the problem of delivering reinforcements to the Chasovoyarsk refractory plant area. This means that in the near future the Ukrainian Armed Forces may try to conduct a "meat assault" on the northern flank, although the chances of its successful completion are practically zero.
17:20 Telegram channel «War Chronicle»:
We have noted more than once that for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the story of Chasovy Yar will be a direct tracing of the battles for Artemovsk in 2022-2023.
And now respected war correspondents are publishing a video where the systematic shooting of Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment continues both on the main and secondary roads around Chasov Yar. The hunt for armored (and not so armored) equipment has reached a new level, and now movement both near the Seversky Donetsk-Donbass Canal and many kilometers away from it is significantly complicated, and the time of day and weather do not play any role.
In this area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have long since switched to “mosquito logistics,” thanks to which they have more or less managed to keep the first line of defense afloat.
But time passes and the situation gradually changes not in favor of the Ukrainian army, so we can expect that soon (primarily as we advance on the northern flank) fighting will begin on the western side of the canal.
In fact, from this moment on, the battle for Chasov Yar will enter its decisive stage.

Seversky direction: fighting in the area of Spornoye and the advance of the Russian Armed Forces to the north of Razdolovka, the situation as of 13:00 on July 18, 2024
– In most areas of the Seversky direction, there is relative calm after several unsuccessful attempts by the Russian Armed Forces to advance in the Belogorovka and Verkhnekamenskoye areas.
– In the area ofSporny, some time ago, Russian troops managed to expand the zone of control within the boundaries of the settlement and occupy several strongholds nearby. However, there is no footage confirming full control over the village yet.
– The greatest successes are being recorded in the Razdolovka area, where earlier Russian paratroopers, after fighting in the vicinity of the settlement, attacked the village from three sides, liberating it relatively quickly. By now, assault groups have occupied a landing on the edge of a hill to the north, having driven Ukrainian formations out of several strongholds.
- There are also local successes to the west of the railway. The advanced assault groups consolidated their positions on the outskirts of Pereyezdnoye as early as June 12, but did not go deeper into the settlement. Advancing in Pereyezdnoye will require "pulling up" the flank from Sakko and Vanzetti in the direction of Fedorovka, but there has been no activity here yet.

Islamic Jihad is among the holy warrior groups who helped Hamas carry out the brutal terrorist attack on Oct. 7 that left more than 1,200 people dead in Israel and triggered the start of the war.
The IDF also conducted airstrikes over Zawayda and the refugee camps in Bureij and Nuseirat, as well as the city of Deir-Al-Balah, the last major urban zone in central Gaza that has yet to see a ground assault.
Hamas officials, who do not differentiate between snuffies and civilians in their death tallies, said at least 21 people were killed altogether in the central Gaza airstrikes.
The bombardments came as IDF ranks pushed deeper into the southern city of Rafah, where the last bastions of Hamas are believed to be stationed.

[Regnum] The leaders of the Kiev regime have begun a second round of talks with creditors to reach an agreement on debt restructuring to prevent default, Bloomberg reported on July 18, citing informed sources.
Ukraine begins new talks on deferring payments two weeks before default
The first round of talks took place in June, but no agreement was reached.
"A group of Ukrainian bondholders have signed confidential agreements to begin a second round of formal talks with the government to restructure more than $20 billion in debt. The talks began this week ahead of the expiration of a moratorium on Ukrainian debt payments on August 1," the statement said.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, the British magazine Economist reported earlier that the Ukrainian authorities could declare default as early as August if they fail to agree on debt restructuring. The publication's experts noted that the deal is unlikely.
Under normal conditions, restructuring negotiations take months, but official Kiev has only a few weeks left and no arguments to convince counterparties of its solvency, noted Regnum news agency observer Denis Davydov in his article.
If Kiev fails to reach an agreement on debt restructuring, then practically everything that was somehow stipulated as collateral will officially become the property of Western transnational companies, publicist and political scientist Vladimir Skachko stated in a conversation with the Regnum news agency.
[Regnum] Pressure from Democratic Party leaders and close friends will convince US President Joe Biden to withdraw from the election as early as the end of this week, writes the American portal Axios, citing several high-ranking Democrats. Until it happens, it is only a possibility, no matter how certain some powerful people might be.
According to the publication, his allies are concerned not only about Biden's low chances of winning, but also about the fact that his latest failures and blunders could lead to the loss of the majority in the Senate. And this, the article says, could prevent the Democrats from taking back the lower chamber from the Republicans at the end of November.
Earlier, House Progressive Caucus Leader Pramila Jayapal said lawmakers were concerned about Biden running for president as the Democratic nominee. She noted that Democrats had expressed their concerns to the president and "asked tough questions" about what to do next.
In addition, former Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi privately told the president that he would not be able to beat Republican Donald Trump in the election .
Meanwhile, the American leader expressed his readiness for a new round of debates with Trump on July 16. According to Biden, he is “on top” and will not allow the debates to fail.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, Biden and Trump met on the night of June 28, Moscow time, at the first debate as part of the election program. Many supporters of the Democratic Party considered the incumbent president's speech a failure, as he stuttered and got confused. The ABC television channel then reported that the party's office began to receive many angry requests demanding that another candidate be nominated in the upcoming elections instead of Biden.

He will either resign or be forced out by the 25th amendment. I think even the person keeping him in (Jill) can see the writing on the wall. No donations. Party against you. Half of voters want him to resign. Landslide defeat in the making.

But her Imperial Highness Jill, The Supreme Hall Monitor really Really REALLY likes her gig and has always been ready to grind Joey to mash for power and status.
She's the best chance for the NEA's grasp on power, and knows once it goes away, she returns to "who?"

Joe is operating as a rubber stand for policies like the $12B bailout of CA. They would like him to finish his term because they are concerned that Kamala might try to actually be president. Also, being president and running for president is very difficult and takes a lot of dedication. I see no evidence that Kamala is dedicated enough to even practice her speeches before giving them. They have created themselves a muddy mire and driven their Malibu into the morass axel deep. Watching their wheels spin is very soothing and delightful.

🚨@JudiciaryGOP just sent this letter to FBI Director Wray -- highlighting that the committee has talked to whistleblowers about security failures at the rally.
… Tim Burke and what he says about the meetings before the rally about how they were focused on staffing dual events in the Pittsburg area -- Trump's rally in Butler and Jill Biden's dinner that night in Pittsburg. The NATO summit was putting pinch on the overall Secret Service resources -- not to mention that Kamala Harris had an event in Philly the same day.
I reported Sunday that the Secret Service diverted resources from the Trump rally to the Jill Biden event. My Secret Service sources used the word "diverted" with me. That was rightfully a focus. I believe, from my reporting, there was a resources-allocation issue between the Trump rally and the Jill Biden dinner in the Pittsburg area on the same day, exacerbated by resources needed for the NATO summit and prep for the RNC convention.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has said the resources were not "diverted" from the Trump rally to the Jill Biden dinner -- but is it a semantics issue? Were they allocated in a lopsided or inappropriate way that was not threat-based -- because Trump clearly has more threats facing him than Jill Biden. Did some Secret Service agents advocate for more resources for Trump but did not win that argument and some of those resources they asked for instead went to Jill Biden's dinner?
That is just one aspect the committee needs to drill down on.
I continue to stand by my reporting.
Here's a highlight of the key graphs in the Jim Jordan letter, below.

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman"?

It would be interesting to compare a layout of what was recommended by the advance team versus what was implemented for the day of the rally.

[Regnum] The desire of the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to turn the EU into a defense union will require, first of all, an increase in defense spending. This opinion was expressed to a Regnum News Agency correspondent on July 18 by retired naval captain of the first rank, military expert Vasily Dandykin.
Von der Leyen has promised to focus on creating a genuine European defence union over the next five years. She also intends to establish a European Defence Fund and appoint a defence commissioner in the new European Commission.
Dandykin noted that the transformation of the EU into a defense union could lead to many European countries that are already members of NATO starting to question the need for the existence of the North Atlantic Alliance.
Dandykin also drew attention to the fact that von der Leyen in her second term may make decisions that will not benefit Europe, but will be advantageous to the United States. Von der Leyen does not represent the interests of either Germany or Europe. She was promoted primarily by the Americans, and she suits them, the military expert specified.
According to him, despite the desire for strategic autonomy, the European Union remains dependent on the United States, even with nuclear weapons.
"The creation of a defense union means an increase in defense spending. They may create their own European forces. However, the decision will be made by the United States. If Washington allows Europeans to die for the interests of the United States, then it may meet them halfway. It is also possible to deploy American missiles not only in Germany, but also in other European countries. However, these plans will lead to nothing, and von der Leyen will most likely not be able to implement her plans. Von der Leyen's actions may provoke protest sentiments in European countries, which are already experiencing a decline in living standards," Dandykin noted.
In turn, candidate of historical sciences, senior research fellow at IMEMO RAS, political scientist Dmitry Ofitserov-Belsky noted that when von der Leyen was the Minister of Defense of Germany, she also had many plans that she was unable to implement. Of what was done then, this was an increase in the purchase of American weapons.
"Then the German defense industry could not cover the modest needs of that time. Now the situation has remained the same. Von der Leyen will continue to buy American weapons, as before. Therefore, most likely, nothing fundamentally new will happen. However, new positions will appear in the EU, such as a defense commissioner. Discussions about this have been going on for more than 10 years. One of the possible candidates for this position is Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. He is considered a qualified specialist with experience in the diplomatic service and as the Minister of Defense of Poland," the expert noted.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, members of the European Parliament at a meeting on July 18 approved the candidacy of the current President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen for a new five-year term.
Ursula von der Leyen was first elected as the head of the EC in July 2019. At that time, she was supported by a coalition of the conservative European People's Party, the Liberals and the Socialists. They secured her a narrow majority of 383 votes, while the required minimum was 374. She became the first woman in history to hold this position. Her term as head of the EC expires in November 2024. In early June, von der Leyen said that she was confident of her re-election.
The press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov stated that the promise of the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to turn the EU into a defense union confirms the course towards militarization of the European community. The Kremlin representative suggested that the head of the EC was talking about changing the EU's priorities and giving the union a military coloring. He emphasized that Russia does not pose any threat to anyone in Europe, and during the special operation in Ukraine it is defending its interests.

[Korrespondent] In the summer of 2023, according to the plan of the Ukrainian command, 12 armored and mechanized brigades were to break through a 30 km wide area.
The authoritative British security think tank RUSI has published a 48-page report , Preliminary Lessons from Ukrainian Offensive Operations 2022-23, in which it named the main reasons for the unsuccessful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2023. Analysts also expressed doubts about a new offensive in the near future. The authors of the report are Jack Watling, Oleksandr Danylyuk and Nick Reynolds.
PLAN OF THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE
The authors call the original plan justified: 12 Ukrainian armored and mechanized brigades were to break through a 30-km-wide area, isolate Tokmak for seven days, and then break through to the south to Melitopol. At that rate, Russia would not have had time to bring up reserves, and the advancing Ukrainian troops only had to overcome the resistance of six Russian regiments in defense.
MISCALCULATIONS OF THE ALLIES
But the implementation of this plan was hampered by mistakes made,6 in the opinion of the authors of the report, both by Ukraine’s allies and by the Ukrainian command itself.
In particular, RUSI notes that Western allies did not supply enough equipment and weapons to Ukraine; unlike Russia, they did not have time to transfer industry to military flights, so they did not have enough weapons, and those that they had were delivered late. This led to the Ukrainian army having little time to master new equipment.
MISCALCULATIONS OF THE UKRAINIAN COMMAND
The Russian command clearly knew exactly where the main attack would be, analysts note. The authors see this as a failure of operational security on the part of both Ukraine and its allies.
In addition, the Ukrainian command decided to throw less prepared units into the breakthrough, while the more experienced ones were supposed to hold the front. The Ukrainian Armed Forces scattered their forces in several directions.
But the most serious mistake of the Ukrainian command, according to analysts, was that it expected that the defending Russian troops would not hold out and would flee, as happened near Kharkov in 2022. When this did not happen, the Ukrainian Armed Forces hopelessly lost momentum.
However, the authors do not touch on such discussed factors as the density of Russian minefields and the capabilities of attack drones, which are capable of hitting valuable armored vehicles with great accuracy.
NEW COUNTEROFFENSIVE
Watling, Danylyuk and Reynolds believe that a resumption of Ukrainian offensive action is impossible in the foreseeable future.
However, Ukraine may focus on inflicting maximum damage on the Russian army, as well as increasing attacks on Russian infrastructure that generates income for the Russian budget.
Western and American officials estimate that Ukrainian forces will remain on the defensive for the next six months and will not be able to mount a large-scale counteroffensive until 2025.
However, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are already trying to seize the tactical initiative in certain sections of the front and will be able to conduct limited counter-offensive operations even while on the defensive, if the availability of Western assistance allows it.
Ukrainian forces will likely be able to increase both the scale and frequency of counterattacks in the coming months as Western aid arrives at the front and Ukraine continues to build up reserves and new brigades, according to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War.

IOW, Western leaders miscalculated and Ukrainians paid for it with their lives. It does not instill much confidence in Western leaders, Joe...and Jill.

[REGNUM] Six people, including four Pakistanis and one Indian, were killed and nearly three dozen were injured in a terrorist attack on the Shiite Ali bin Abi Talib mosque in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman. The attack came as Shiites mark Ashura, an annual day of mourning for Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad. The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. In particular, the terrorists' information resource Amaq reported on its Telegram channels that the militants "opened fire with machine guns at Shiites" and then clashed with Omani security forces. Three terrorists who carried out the attack and opened fire on the parishioners were eliminated. One police officer was also killed in the shootout.

[LB] Nazar Voloshyn noted that the Russian army destroyed the village almost completely.
by Sergey Albul
The spokesman of the operational-strategic group of troops, Nazar Voloshyn, told Suspilny by phone that the Defense Forces of Ukraine withdrew from Urozhany, Donetsk region.
"Due to the fact that the enemy destroyed almost everything in Urozhany, the defense forces withdrew to other positions. A decision was made to preserve the lives and health of our servicemen who were defending there," said the spokesman of the operational-strategic group.
The decision to withdraw from Urozhany was made because the positions of the Defense Forces, as well as the settlement itself, were destroyed by constant, combined and prolonged shelling by Russian troops, Voloshyn explained.
"The settlement itself was almost completely destroyed by enemy shelling. The positions of the Ukrainian defenders were destroyed, and keeping personnel there was a threat to the lives of our soldiers," said Khortytsia, the spokesman for "OSUV".
According to Voloshyn, the Russian army does not count on losses, destroying Ukrainian cities and towns.
"In order to achieve success and some kind of victory in the destroyed settlements and villages, the enemy suffers considerable losses every day. They only kill more than one hundred, and the result is a destroyed settlement and around it a pile of corpses of Russian soldiers who will no longer return to their native homes." Voloshyn added.
He emphasized that the Ukrainian military controls the situation in that direction.
Suspilne notes that the notification of the withdrawal of the Armed Forces from the positions in Urozhany appeared on July 11, but the Khortytsya National Security Agency denied this information at the time.
The settlement has been under occupation since March 2022. Defense forces liberated the village of Urozhaine during the summer counteroffensive in the south of Donetsk region in 2023. It became known about the dismissal of Urozhany on August 16.

[Red State] The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has provided some much-needed clarity on who can and can't register to vote in the upcoming 2024 elections, with the state of Arizona the focus of a new decision on Thursday afternoon. The suit was filed by the state Republican Party and the state Senate President Warren Petersen against a pro-illegals interest group, Mi Familia Vota, and Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes (D).
The Republican caucus of the state Senate reacted on X, calling it a massive win for election integrity:
🚨BREAKING: Today, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of election integrity! Voters in Arizona who register with the state and do not provide proof of citizenship will be rejected.
"This is a victory for election integrity in Arizona. Only U.S. citizens should be... pic.twitter.com/IjNCv9lSmz
…allowed to vote in our elections. It sounds like common sense, but the radical left elected officials in our state continue to reject this notion, disrespecting the voices of our lawful Arizona voters. We are grateful the court is upholding this provision in our law, and it's time for Congress to take action to ensure only lawful U.S. citizens are voting in federal races." -

In Ohio, 17 year olds could vote in the primaries but only they would be 18 before the election and only for races that would be decided in November, not for races and issues that were decided in March. The end result was that those ballots had to be treated as provisional votes to be hand checked before scanning at the Board of Elections in my country. Luckily, my precinct had no early registered 17 year olds. I can’t even imagine what type of structure would need to be in place to implement this court ruling.

[Regnum] There is no doubt that the assassination attempt on Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was previously reported by the head of the Kiev regime's Defense Ministry Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov (an individual included in the Russian Federation's list of terrorists and extremists), was planned and financed with the participation of Kiev's Anglo-Saxon masters, said Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, on July 18.
“There is no doubt that such crimes were planned and financed with the direct participation of the Anglo-Saxon masters of the Kiev regime,” Zakharova said at a briefing.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 13, Budanov stated that the Kiev regime had previously organized assassination attempts on Putin, but they had been unsuccessful.
In response, the head of state's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, emphasized that the threats from the Kiev regime are obvious, and the security of the Russian president is being ensured at the proper level.
The assassination attempt on Putin that Budanov spoke about was prepared with US money, Zakharova noted earlier.

[AccordingToHoyt] Imagine we had a president, let’s call him Bindy E. Weed who was always an extremely corrupt politician, and whose family is so deep in crime that every dictator and cartel owns a piece. He was elected in an election so fraudulent it could never happen in reality because among other things it required fooling other nations about the virulence of a released bio-agent, and I mean, why would other nations all fall for that. Wait, I’ll make it so that they too are fighting internal dissension that will upend long-held structures of power. That might do it, right?
Bindy is elected and immediately gets what he deserves. First, due to his guilty conscience he jumps at nothing and either he or someone in his orbit orchestrates a Reichstag fire, which fails to have the effect hoped for despite work over years to make it into the worst thing ever. His inauguration — this is pretty much impossible in America, okay — is behind barbed wire fences and beefed up guard, but despite incitement nothing happens to justify it. And then.... slowly, incrementally, the wheels keep coming off.
There had been signs of decline before, but they were possible to cover up. Except he gets much, much worse. Behind the scenes he’s puppetted by his wife, a Doctor of ... oh, I don’t know let me see a completely useless degree.... We’ll call it Pedagogical studies, as a place holder. His wife.... d*mn it, need name, Tilly Weed, and his son Nimrod. Nimrod not only has acted for years as the family bagman, but is also an addict to several disparate substances and has subtly been emitting cries for help in the form of trying to get caught for years. There’s also a cabal of overgrown theater kiddies who love, adore and bow down to Tilly thinking she is a mondo genius. The most prominent of them are the triple A group around Bindy, who are frankly my weak point. I mean, why should they all have A names? It begs the question. I might change it in post. And make them Bs. I mean, they’re B class talent. Anyway, it’s not just them, of course. Tilly has the kind of suburban mom vibe that will appeal to broken kiddies of any age, of which there are a lot in this administration and the corrupt ideology that supports it. For instance the head of the secret service Howda Cheatam — yes, the name is too on the nose, I’ll fix it later — is a great friend of Tilly and owes her rise to Tilly.
Everything is going swimmingly. Okay, it’s not, because our little cabal in power is busier fending off attacks from other cabals within the very corrupt party that put them in power than actually governing. Also, they’re not that smart. Suburban and (I hate the term, but there it is) midwits. More sure of their smarts than smart. Mostly because they have credentials and are sure these must mean something.
