Hezbollah launches volley of drone attacks on Israel, vows revenge is still yet to come
[NYPOST] Lebanese bad boy group Hezbollah unleashed a slew of drone and rocket attacks on Israel Tuesday — but warned the brunt of its Dire Revenge for Israel’s liquidation of a top commander last week was still yet to come.

Two military sites near Acre in northern Israel and an Israeli military vehicle in another location were among the spots targeted in the latest attack, the gang said.

The Israeli military confirmed a number of hostile drones had been identified crossing over from Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
and at least one was intercepted.

Economy
Free Money Is Out. Financial Markets Dragged Down by AI Hysteria
Direct Translation via Google Translate.
[REGNUM] The sudden collapse of the stock exchanges was probably sudden only for the managers of large corporations who live from one financial report to another.

The stock exchanges could not help but collapse - it is not normal when the market capitalization of individual Western IT companies exceeded the GDP of individual major economies in the world.

AI BUBBLE
The most striking example of a stock market bubble is the fate of Nvidia Corporation.

At the end of February 2024, Nvidia's capitalization exceeded $1.97 trillion, which at the time exceeded Russia's GDP, which was then $1.92 trillion.

At the same time, if Russia is a nuclear power, occupying 1/7 of the land with colossal reserves of raw materials, developed industry and 146 million inhabitants, then Nvidia is the world's leading manufacturer of graphic accelerators for household and industrial use, the value of whose shares has soared by more than 238% in a year against the backdrop of AI hysteria.

Nvidia's fiscal 2023 revenue is $27 billion, net income is $4.4 billion, and operating expenses increased by 50% to $11.1 billion.

For comparison: Russian exports in 2023 amounted to $425.1 billion (-28.3% compared to last year). Imports were $285.1 billion (+11% compared to last year). The difference between exports and imports was $140 billion.

At the same time, there have been and still are no breakthroughs in artificial intelligence.

The average person will certainly be pleased with the "smart" search, and the schoolchild will be pleased with the neural network that can increase the readability of texts, but this is not enough for a breakthrough - such technologies do not bring money to corporations. Money is brought in by business solutions, but with them everything is not so clear: the accounting service QuickBooks, which said that checks are issued in it by advanced AI, in fact used the services of the Filipinos, and driverless cars on the streets are an incredible rarity.

However, corporate managers were racing to implement AI technologies and build infrastructure for them, including data processing centers (DPCs).

The fundamental non-recoupment of these investments was obvious to everyone: a month ago, the media wrote about the calculations of David Kahn , an analyst at Sequoia Capital, that in order to compensate for the costs of infrastructure and data centers, AI companies will need to earn about $600 billion a year. It is simply impossible to earn that kind of money in this market now.

In general, the absurdity of the situation, when the capitalization of a corporation with revenues of 27 billion dollars is greater than the GDP of a country with a positive balance of over 140 billion dollars, was obvious to everyone except gamblers on the stock exchanges.

However, to understand this fact, you don’t even need to practice analytics and read financial reports - just look at the Nvidia capitalization chart since 1999. The curve began to soar right after the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

"IRON" PROBLEMS
There are no breakthroughs in the "iron" shop either.

Since the beginning of the year, the capitalization of Intel Corporation, the world's flagship in the production of central processors, has fallen by 59%, although at the local peak in March 2021, the corporation's paper was worth $60 - only $15 less than in 2000, when the dot-com crisis broke out .

By the way, at the time of writing this text, Intel shares have fallen to $19.85 per share, and this is clearly not the bottom from which the corporation will bounce off.

And Intel was sent to the bottom by its own managers: the company had a monopoly on the processor market for years, and its managers believed that it was forever. "Forever" ended in 2016, when a competitor in the person of AMD released processors on the Zen architecture, which turned out to be better than chips from Intel in every way. AMD then released chiplets - in processors, the company combined cores and microcircuits manufactured using different technological processes, and Taiwanese TSMC produced silicon for it.
*Snip*
IT GETS WORSE FROM HERE
The conclusions from this stock market crash are simple.

Firstly, it was predictable and inevitable — corporations had accumulated a lot of problems. Their managers became slaves to financial reports, whose task is to please shareholders with beautiful figures and pay generous dividends. And to do this, you need to avoid scandals and listen to marketers, not the eternally grumbling engineers.

The second problem is that the endless and free money that the US Federal Reserve has been pumping into the American economy since the start of the coronavirus has run out.

Secondly, the stock exchanges will continue to fall, and growth will begin only after reaching the bottom or starting the printing press again. Speculative capital must burn out.

Thirdly, the West has probably nothing left in its economic flagships except IT; other countries have learned to do everything else.

This process will have virtually no effect on Russia - after the start of the SVO, it was maximally disconnected from the global economy. But following the IT bubble, the real sector of the economy may also falter, which will lead to a decrease in demand for energy resources. In this case, Russia will get it too.

#1  "When it comes to the money the government is siphoning off you through income taxes, most of it is literally going up in smoke.

The most recent Treasury data showed that as the federal government surpasses a record $35 trillion national debt, $1.1 trillion will be spent on interest payments alone this fiscal year.

According to reports: “Interest payments on the federal debt now account for 76% of all personal income taxes collected. This means that for every dollar Americans pay in income tax, about 76 cents go towards paying interest on the national debt.“

Bangladesh
Hasina moved to secure location in India
[Dhaka Tribune] Former prime minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
has been relocated to a secure location in India amid uncertainties about her planned travel to London, sources familiar with the matter have said.

Hasina had been moved to an undisclosed location under heavy security, the Press Trust of India quoted the sources as saying on Tuesday. She had arrived at Hindon airbase on Monday aboard a C-130J military transport aircraft shortly after resigning as prime minister.

Hasina intended to seek temporary refuge in London. However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
the plan was currently on hold following indications from the UK government that she might not receive legal protection against potential investigations into recent violent mostly peaceful protests in Bangladesh, the sources added.

Hasina resigned as prime minister on Monday afternoon amid nationwide protests, subsequently fleeing the country.

Later that day, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman addressed the nation, announcing that an interim government would soon be established.

Reports have since emerged of several ministers and senior Awami League leaders also fleeing the country.

Thousands of BNP, Jamaat activists granted bail
[Dhaka Tribune] A Dhaka court has granted bail to over 1,000 BNP-Jamaat leaders and activists including BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the case of sabotage in the name of quota reform movement.

The bail application was made in the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday.

After the hearing, the judge granted them bail.
Two words spring to mind, In the original Gobbledegook we'd say "stuckin foopid," but I won't translate. They've solved half their problem, and now they're letting the other half take charge. If they had any sense as a nation, they'd leave the Pak stooges in jail and enjoy a period of (relative) peace. But they keep doing the same things, over and over, expecting different results. I guess we can expect the return of the Purbo Bangla Commies and the re-rise of RAB.
Long Live The RAB! Break out the Shuttergun!

Satkhira ex-chairman shoots 3 dead, mob lynches him, associates
[Dhaka Tribune] At least 10 people have been killed in attacks and violence in Satkhira following news of the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. 's resignation from the post of prime minister and her departure from the country.

The houses and business establishments of several Awami League leaders and activists were vandalized and looted.

Police also reported arson and looting at Satkhira Sadar and Shyamnagar cop shoppes.

Pratapnagar Union Gay Pareehad Chairman Abu Daud said thousands of people of his union attacked Awami League leader Zakir Hossain's Kalyanpur house around 6pm on Monday.

At that time, Zakir took out his gun and shot three people -- Adam Ali, Anaj Billah and Alam Hossain. They went titzup. Around 10-12 people were maimed.

At around 8pm, the mob barged into Zakir's house and hacked him and his associates Shaker Ali, Jahangir Alam, Sajib Hossain and Ashiqok and Alamgir Hossain to death.

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
Asafur Rahman, son of Rafel Sardar of Baikari village in Satkhira Sadar upazila, was hacked to death by a mob.

The Freedom Fighters Complex was set on fire on Monday afternoon. Several shops including the complex were gutted.

#12  On September 17th, 2004, Walz was conditionally promoted, or frocked, to Command Sergeant Major. When a service member is conditionally promoted or frocked, it means that while they rate the title of Command Sergeant Major and could wear that rank, they are not entitled to the pay yet. When Walz was given that promotion, he signed and initialed the Statement of Agreement and Certification for the USASMA, which meant that if Walz failed to comply with the conditions, his promotion would be null and void as if it never happened.

When Walz and his battalion received warning orders that he, along with the battalion, would need to prepare for activation and mobilization for deployment to Iraq in early 2005, Walz committed the ultimate sin. He quit on his soldiers.

On May 16th, 2005 he quit, leaving the 1-125th Field Artillery Battalion and its Soldiers hanging; without its senior Non-Commissioned Officer, as the battalion prepared for war. His excuse to other leaders was that he needed to retire in order to run for congress. Which is false, according to a Department of Defense Directive, he could have run and requested permission from the Secretary of Defense before entering active duty; as many reservists have. If he had retired normally and respectfully, you would think he would have ensured his retirement documents were correctly filled out and signed, and that he would have ensured he was reduced to Master Sergeant for dropping out of the academy. Instead he waited for the paperwork to catch up to him. His official retirement document states, SOLDIER NOT AVAILABLE FOR SIGNATURE.

On September 10th, Tim Walz was demoted and reduced in rank to Master Sergeant. He abandoned and walked away from his soldiers and his solemn responsibility to lead and take care of them. According to Behrends and Herr, Walz is hiding that part of the information from the public in an attempt to fool the electorate.

Africa Subsaharan
About 40 arrested for waving Russian flags
[BBC] About 40 people have been arrested in northern Nigeria for waving Russia's national flag during protests against the high cost of living and what they feel is "bad governance".

Amid this crackdown, army chief Christopher Musa warned that it is a "treasonable offence" to fly the flags of foreign countries.

Nigeria has seen six days of nationwide protests, in which at least seven people have died and more than 700 have been arrested.

Demonstrators have been chanting slogans such as "we are hungry", while a minority have been pictured waving Russia's flag and voicing support for Russian President Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...
According to local media, some of these protesters have called on Moscow to "rescue" them.

The subsequent arrests are seen as an attempt to stifle any fledgling support for Russia in Nigeria, a leading oil producer and a key ally of Western powers.

Several countries in the wider region of West Africa - including Nigeria's neighbour, Niger - have pivoted away from the West and towards Russia after recent military coups.

Civilian governments backed by the likes of La Belle France and the US had rapidly lost popularity - critics accused them of failing to tackle insecurity, corruption and economic problems.

Nigeria's President Bola Tinubu came to power in May 2023 after winning fiercely contested elections.

Satisfaction with his leadership has plummeted, with many blaming his policies for the sharp increase in the cost of living.

He scrapped a long-standing state subsidy on fuel in his inauguration speech, causing pump prices to rise. The move also had a knock-on effect on the cost of food and other basic commodities.

Mr Tinubu has urged frustrated Nigerians to be patient, insisting his policies would bear fruit.

He has appealed for an end to the protests and held a meeting with security chiefs on Monday to assess their scale.

Afterwards, army chief Christopher Musa said: "We are warning in clear terms that we will not accept anybody, any individual flying any foreign flag in Nigeria. That is a treasonable offence, and it will be viewed and treated as such."

Haredim clash with police as first draftees slated to report to IDF recruitment office
[IsraelTimes] Hundreds of ultra-Orthodox men clashed with police on Monday at the Tel Hashomer military recruitment office as they protested the start of the controversial military draft for members of the Haredi community.

Police said three people were arrested.

Footage from the scene showed scuffles between demonstrators and police. Some of the protesters chanted: "To prison and not to the army."

Video on social media showed one protester announcing, "This is Auschwitz, this is the last stop."

Several female journalists reported violence toward them by the rioters, in addition to offensive chanting.

As there are no 'set' uniforms for the different military groups fighting (both Ukrainian and Russian), this is for friend/foe identification.

These are Ukrainian troops. Russians are using a similar color band system for ID (different colors, though).

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Excessive Internet Use Disrupts Key Parts Of The Teenage Brain
[ZH] The internet drives news cycles and touches practically every aspect of our lives—from communicating with friends and family to finding a job. The current crop of teens is unique from any previous generation in that they are immersed in a virtual world that can present very differently from reality. Many teens have become addicted to it.

A 2023 Statista survey found that U.S. teenagers spent an average of 4.8 hours on social media platforms every day, with girls spending an average of 5.3 hours compared to 4.4 hours for boys.

“Being as excessive and addictive screen use is routinely listed as one of parents’ biggest concerns for children, I think it’s overdue that we start educating children as early as possible about the dangers of unhealthy and mindless screen use,” Anthony Anzalone, a clinical psychologist at Stony Brook Medicine, told The Epoch Times.

FBI: Ohio Teacher Caught in Hotel with Naked Child
More vileness about a story we first saw a week ago.
[Breitbart] A 44-year-old elementary school teacher in Cincinnati, Ohio, is facing federal child pornography charges after allegedly being caught in a hotel room with a naked child.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had been surveilling the Delshire Elementary physical education teacher, identified as Mark Altherr, for allegedly taking part in child pornography on the internet, Inside Edition reported on Friday.

The suspect is accused of being a member of a website described as a “child pornography community” since 2021 and made several hundred posts on it, according to Local 12:

Local 12 said Altherr was called a “senior member” of the website:

He was arrested at a hotel in Columbus on July 26 after agents reportedly watched the suspect take a child into his room. The Inside Edition article continued:

Believing the girl was “in imminent danger,” the agents knocked on the door and announced themselves, according to a federal criminal complaint.

Altherr opened the door, but tried to shut it, the complaint alleges. Agents entered and found a young girl “completely nude,” the court document said. He was arrested and taken into custody, authorities said.

Law enforcement believes there may be more victims in the case, per WCPO.

“It makes me sick at my stomach,” a man who lives next door to the school told the outlet when he learned of the allegations. “It just makes me so frickin’ sick,” he said.

The suspect is being held at the Butler County Jail while he waits for officials to transfer him to federal custody. In regard to his job, Altherr was placed on administrative leave but the board of education is planning to begin termination proceedings.

Hawley Demands Suspension of 'Inexperienced' Lead Site Agent for Butler Rally in Light of Whistleblower Allegations
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) demanded that the Secret Service’s "inexperienced" lead site agent at former President Donald Trump
...The Hero of Butler, Pennsylvania...
’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 be suspended.

In a letter addressed to Acting Secret Service Director Ronald Rowe on Monday, Hawley wrote that several whistleblowers had told his office that the "lead site agent" at Trump’s rally in Butler had lacked "competence and experience in the role" and "made decisions that likely compromised the overall security" that day.

Hawley added that the allegations from the whistleblowers were "especially alarming" because Rowe had previously stated that the agent was "still operational" in the field.

"New whistleblower allegations to my office directly question decisions made by Secret Service’s lead site agent principally responsible for securing the July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania," Hawley said in his letter. "These allegations suggest that the lead site agent failed to implement appropriate security protocols."

"This is especially alarming because during your testimony on July 30, you stated that this agent was ’still operational...They’re still doing protective visits,'" Hawley added.

Current information on the situation on the front line: August 5 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 21:35 Russian Armed Forces units have advanced in Kirovo and Druzhbamap.

21:11 Another arsenal of Ukrainian ammunition was destroyed in the area of the settlement of Mirnohrad –video.

20:59 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Pokrovsk direction: advance in Zhelannoye and expansion of the control zone in the area of Novosyolovka Pervaya.

– The situation of Ukrainian formations in the Pokrovsk direction is deteriorating with each passing day. The enemy side no longer hides that the deployment of new reserve units does not allow stabilizing the front line, which Russian troops are pushing further and further to the west.

– Southwest of Timofeevka, assault units of the Russian Armed Forces approached the southern outskirts of the small village of Lisichnoye, consisting of only a few houses, and in Ivanovka they drove the Ukrainian Armed Forces from their positions in the center and continue to push back on the northwestern outskirts.

– In Vesyoloye, the clearing of buildings and the surrounding area continues, and fighting is also ongoing on the outskirts of Sergeyevka, located nearby.

– Russian fighters entered Zhelannoye from the railway station, occupying several streets. To the east of the settlement, the Russian Armed Forces managed to reach the road connecting Zhelannoye and Novosyolovka Pervaya, creating a threat of encirclement for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

- In addition, from the side of Novosyolovka Pervaya, a wedge has been formed in the direction of Mezhevoye, but there has been no information about the beginning of the assault on this village. Mezhevoye is located on the left bank of the Volchya River, on the bridge over which the Russian Aerospace Forces yesterday carried out an effective strike with an Kh-38 missile in order to reduce the logistical capabilities of the Ukrainian formations.

– It should be noted that over the past few days, unmanned aircraft crews have been actively working in this area against identified enemy positions, destroying Ukrainian Armed Forces equipment. The enemy lost several armored vehicles, including two M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles in the Novozhelannoye area.

– The rapid retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has other reasons besides the direct onslaught of the Russian Armed Forces. Ukrainian units are forced to retreat from their positions, lacking not only sufficient ammunition for defense, but also basic things – drinking water.

– From intercepted radio communications it is known that the enemy is complaining about the effective actions of Russian troops in disrupting key logistics routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area.

20:14 ATGM crews destroy armored vehicles of a simulated enemy at a training ground near Rostov –video.

At the Southern Military District training ground in the Rostov Region, intensive training of servicemen continues before being sent to the SVO zone.

19:55 Sumy region.

It is reported about a new series of air strikes by the Russian Aerospace Forces. Frontline and tactical aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces are identifying enemy positions to carry out high-precision strikes.

19:15 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Aleksandro-Kalinovskoe direction: successes of the Russian Armed Forces in Kirovo and Druzhba.

– In the Aleksandro-Kalinovsky direction, Russian troops are rapidly overcoming the enemy's defensive lines in the suburbs of Dzerzhinsk. The assault aircraft are developing their success on the northern flank and have already reached the outskirts of the abandoned Severnaya mine, the waste heap of which is a dominant height and is used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as an important defensive node.

– In Druzhba, the Russian Armed Forces are advancing through the private sector along Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, smoking out enemy infantry from shelters in the basements of houses. According to available information, the advance detachments of our attack aircraft have already reached Kosmonavtov Street and continue to push through the enemy's defenses to the northwest. In addition to regular airstrikes, the combat capability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units is affected by supply problems caused by the high activity of Russian UAVs, which hit the enemy's logistics transport.

– In Kirovo, units of the Russian Armed Forces also broke through the defense of the Ukrainian formations, reaching Kalinovaya and Tsentralnaya streets, through which supplies were supplied to most of the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in the east of the Dzerzhinsky agglomeration.

The depot on the territory of the Severnaya mine has already come under the control of Russian troops. Fortifications have been set up on its waste heaps, adapted by the enemy for long-term defense.

– In an effort to contain the onslaught of Russian troops, the enemy command deployed special forces units in this area with the support of armored vehicles. One of these groups was destroyed on Shkolnaya Street: an armored HMMW vehicle transporting members of an elite unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was shot down by Russian fighters. Later, the surviving enemy special forces were destroyed by small arms fire from a Russian attack aircraft.

– In the Novgorodskoye area, the Russian Armed Forces are pushing the enemy out of the “pocket” on the southeastern outskirts of the settlement. On the left flank of the “Novgorod salient,” Russian troops also carried out a series of successful attacks, expanding the zone of control and driving the enemy out of several forest belts.

Given the successes achieved on the southwestern outskirts of Artemovo, the Russian Armed Forces have a chance to quickly break through the enemy’s defenses to the northeast of Novgorodskoye itself and form a cauldron into which significant forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will fall.

– Despite fierce resistance, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command is unable to stabilize the situation and stop the advance of the Russian Armed Forces. A scenario is developing in the Dzerzhinsky agglomeration that is partly similar to what is happening in the Pokrovsky direction: Russian attack aircraft bypass and then isolate powerful enemy fortifications, making their defense quite problematic.

– It is likely that both waste heaps in the east of the agglomeration will soon come under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, which will open the way for Russian troops to Dzerzhinsk itself.

18:51 Advanceof the Russian Armed Forces on the front lines –map.

– Units of the Russian Armed Forces advanced in a north-eastern direction towards the Rabotino square, forcing the enemy to abandon their positions.

– Advance of the Russian Armed Forces to the north of Urozhainoe.

18:08 Advance of the Russian Armed Forces on the front lines –map.

– The Russian Armed Forces are advancing near Zhelannoye and in Ivanovka.

– Advance of the Russian Armed Forces northwest of Rabotino.

14:39 Enemy as of the first half of the day on August 5 admits advance of the Russian Armed Forces in the Ivanovka area, in the Dzerzhinsk area, in the Zhelanny area and in Konstantinovka.

The biggest problem for the enemy at the moment is the entire section of the front west of Ocheretino, which he cannot stabilize in any way.

14:24 In the area of the settlement of Shcherbinovka (12 km northwest of the settlement of Gorlovka), the temporary deployment point of the 47th Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was destroyed –video.

With the support of artillery and aviation, they inflicted losses on the manpower and equipment of units of the 107th, 112th, and 114th Territorial Defense Brigades in the areas of Sin'kovka, Makeyevka, Glushkovka, and Tabayevka.

The group's missile unit launched an Iskander-M missile strike on a temporary deployment point for foreign mercenaries in the Balakleya area. The facility was destroyed along with 80 militants.

During the counterbattery fire, artillery units destroyed two M198 and one M777 howitzers made in the USA, a British L119 howitzer, a 152mm D-20 artillery gun, three 122mm D-30 howitzers, and 17 mortar crews.

Air defense crews destroyed eight aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles.

Over the course of 24 hours, the enemy lost up to 490 militants and 32 units of weapons and military equipment, including three tanks, one T-64 and two Leopards, an infantry fighting vehicle, two M113 armored personnel carriers, eight artillery pieces, the Bukovel and Nota electronic warfare stations, eight vehicles, two ammunition depots and 13 UAV control points.

It's always Sunni in Saudi Arabia while the Iranians are Shiite. IMHO, this is really the fundamental conflict in the Middle East. The thing with the Juice is just a violent sideshow. The magnetic storm that began on Earth on August 4 has ended
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The magnetic storm that began on Earth on Sunday, August 4, has ended. This follows from the schedule of the solar astronomy laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences on August 5.

According to these data, the storm almost reached the G3 level (strong) from 15:00 Moscow time to 21:00 on August 4, after which it began to weaken.

According to scientists, the magnetic storm began at around 11:00 Moscow time on August 4, when a cloud of plasma from a solar ejecta reached the Earth.
"That began on Earth"?
The degree of disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field is measured on a scale of five levels, in which G1 is the weakest disturbance and G5 is the most powerful magnetic storm.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Institute of Applied Geophysics reported earlier that a strong magnetic storm covered the Earth on the night of August 4-5. It was noted that the K-index of geomagnetic activity reached 6.67.

Leading specialist of the Phobos center Mikhail Leus reported on July 30 that the magnetic storm that forecasters warned about had covered the Earth. The planet was expected to experience storms of average level G2.

On May 11, Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the Pushkov Institute of Terrestrial Magnetism, Ionosphere and Radio Wave Propagation of the Russian Academy of Sciences, reported a magnetic storm of the fifth, highest level, recorded for the first time in the last 20 years. Such storms have not been observed on Earth since September 11, 2005.

Britain
The Legacy of Five Governments: Why Britain Drowned in Pogroms
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] The Labour government faces its first major challenge since being elected as the country has been engulfed in unrest for almost a week following the high-profile murder of three children in Southport.

British citizen Axel Rudakubana, whose parents moved to the country from Rwanda, has stirred up society with his attack and once again brought to the forefront issues that the gentlemen of Downing Street preferred not to mention.

ROOTS OF DISCONTENT
This is not the first time that Foggy Albion has faced such unrest. In modern British history, there have been at least ten major episodes when interethnic and interfaith disputes first spilled over into street confrontations and then into pogroms.

True, almost all of them occurred during the era of Conservative prime ministers – with the possible exception of incidents in Manchester (2001) and Birmingham (2005), which had to be resolved by the Labour Party's Tony Blair. However, these conflict situations were then viewed as a "legacy" of the social policy miscalculations of the Conservative John Major.

Now the government led by Keir Starmer has received its own “inheritance” – and for five predecessors at once. The unrest in Southport, fuelled by anti-immigrant and Islamophobic rumours, quickly spread to other major cities, including London.

The far-right English Defence League has been rightly blamed for organising these disturbances – its members (the vast majority of whom are young) have been the driving force behind any protests even indirectly related to migration since 2009. In addition, it was members of the League who helped to fuel the unrest in Southport by spreading a rumour that the attack was carried out by an illegal migrant.

British tabloids routinely hint at the presence of a “Russian connection.” However, this time they did not ignore the Conservatives, who allegedly receive direct benefits from the failures of the Labor government and themselves push anti-migrant forces to continue the unrest.

Meanwhile, the roots of discontent should be sought somewhat deeper.

Following the migrant crisis triggered by the conflict in Syria in the mid-2010s, Britain faced an influx of refugees from the Middle East. Their arrival was seized upon by radical propagandists, including Pakistani-born British lawyer Anjem Choudary.

The latter not only welcomed the appearance of “Sharia patrols” in London, but also supported the activities of jihadists in Syria and Iraq in every possible way, “blessed” supporters of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to commit crimes, and helped terrorist recruiters illegally enter the country.

The fact that Choudary was only given a life sentence in 2021 (he had previously been jailed for just five years, despite having been a radical for at least 20 years) continues to be used to illustrate the shortcomings of British policy on sensitive issues such as illegal immigration and terrorism. The situation has changed little over the years.

Another serious blow to Britain’s resilience to the threat of mass migration was its exit from the European Union (the so-called Brexit). After the 2016 referendum, London gradually began to withdraw from pan-European control mechanisms, and migration rates inevitably soared.

In the first quarter of 2024 alone, almost 5,000 people entered the country illegally, adding to the more than 56,000 who had already arrived in the past year. London has also, at various times, accepted refugees not only from the Middle East but also from Asia and Africa, increasing tensions between communities and the native population.

As expected, the interests of the working class (the main electorate of the Labor Party) suffered from the influx of guests from abroad, since migrants took over some positions in the labor market, displacing the native population. Each year, the percentage of those displaced steadily increased, and the government preferred to remain silent once again, which only exacerbated the problem.

At the same time, the conservatives' attempts to maneuver between dissatisfied groups - for example, by promoting the idea of deporting captured illegal immigrants to third countries - ended in nothing. The European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), which none of the previous prime ministers dared to withdraw from, prevented this.

HOW WILL DOWNING STREET RESPOND?
Since the first days of the riots, Labour has sought to demonstrate the toughness of its position. In his address to the nation, Prime Minister Starmer promised that the rioters would “regret taking part in mass riots,” and he even dubbed what is happening in British cities “far-right thuggery.”

At the instigation of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Internal Affairs promptly increased security in Muslim neighborhoods and religious sites to prevent armed attacks. Additional steps were taken by other departments as well.

At the same time, the work of the Labour Party is currently aimed exclusively at quelling popular unrest: the Starmer government does not have a clear plan on how to solve the problem of illegal migration and relieve social tension. Moreover, they do not plan to withdraw from the ECHR, as the Conservatives previously proposed.

Moreover, given the fact that the attack was carried out by a British citizen (albeit an ethnic Rwandan), the crackdown on migrants and ethnic communities looks dubious and is likely to be seen as an attempt to appease xenophobic groups.

On the other hand, blaming the English Defence League exclusively (while ignoring other hidden actors) also seems like a losing proposition. It guarantees a repeat of the crisis in the future – on an even larger scale.

The Labour Party has not yet developed a “middle” approach, and the time to “name the culprit” has already been lost.

Also, against the backdrop of the miscalculations of Starmer and his team, right-wing populists have become more active, in particular the Reform Party, which had previously built its election campaign on criticism of the Conservatives’ “migration laissez-faire.” Now the “reformers” have switched to Labour, which, in their opinion, is repeating the same mistakes as their predecessors.

Of course, the current protests are unlikely to cost Starmer his premiership – or his party its governing status – but, as with the Conservatives, they cast some doubt on the feasibility of the promises made during the election campaign.

And this could play a cruel joke on the Labour Party in the next electoral cycle.

I think they realize this and are going to major on destorying Russian refineries, rail systems, etc.

Putin can maintain his troops in Ukraine, but, he's going to eventually have Russkiye revolt against him over the collapse of Russian infrastructure eventually.

Russian sailing ship Shtandart allowed to enter French port
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian sailing frigate Shtandart, which was previously banned from entering the ports of France and Spain due to sanctions against Russia, was given permission to enter the French harbor of La Rochelle. This was reported on August 5 by the ship's captain Vladimir Martus.

"The Shtandart is allowed to enter the port of La Rochelle to replenish supplies. This region is known for its maritime "character" and positive attitude towards everything maritime," Gazeta.Ru quoted him as saying.

According to the captain, the Shtandart team intends to stay in the French port for one or two days, after which they want to head to the northwest of France to participate in the festival, but the question of this possibility is still being decided.
Don't push your luck
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on July 23 it became known that the Shtandart was prohibited from mooring in the French port of Brest to participate in the sea festival due to the EU's restrictive measures against the Russian Federation. The ship's crew was running out of water at that time.

Later that day, the Russian frigate was also denied entry to Spain. Margus noted that the frigate had never had such problems, adding that many Europeans were also outraged by the decision.

Residents of one of the towns on the island of Il-Arousa began helping the crew of the Russian frigate Shtandart replenish food and water supplies on July 27. Residents of the Spanish island themselves offered to bring water on their fishing boats. Later, the Spanish authorities ordered Shtandart to leave the country's territorial waters.

The press service of the Spanish Merchant Marine Administration reported on July 30 that the Russian frigate was allowed to enter the Spanish port of Vigo. This decision was made to replenish food supplies and also to replace some parts of the vessel.

Iraq
Rockets fired at Iraq's Ain al-Asad airbase housing US forces, security sources say
[JPost] It was not clear if the attack caused any casualties or damage inside the base, the sources said.

Two Katyusha rockets were fired at Iraq's Ain al-Asad air base on Monday, which hosts US and other international forces in western Iraq, security sources said.

Three US officials confirmed several personnel injuries were caused by the rockets.

This report comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, as several sources believe that Iran may attack Israel as early as Monday in retaliation to recent assassinations widely attributed to Israel.

US forces have previously been targeted in the region, including three US service members killed and at least 25 wounded in a drone attack on an output in Jordan near the Syrian border in January.

Mali 'in deep shock' severs diplomatic ties with Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Malian authorities have made a clear decision to sever diplomatic relations with Ukraine, arguing that the Kiev regime is supporting armed terrorists who are fighting government troops and the Wagner PMC.

The transitional government's announcement was published on the agency's website.

It is noted that the Malian authorities were “deeply shocked” by the statement by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andrei Yusov, regarding Ukraine’s involvement “in the cowardly, treacherous and barbaric attack of terrorist armed groups” that led to the war.

The government also recalled the deaths of members of the Malian defence and security forces in Tinzawatene, as well as the material damage caused.

According to the Malian leadership, all accusations are supported by the Ukrainian ambassador to Senegal, Yuriy Pivovarov, who openly and unequivocally declared his country's support for international terrorism, especially in Mali.

"These extremely serious allegations, which have not been refuted or condemned by the Ukrainian authorities, indicate clear official support by the Ukrainian government for terrorism in Africa, the Sahel and, in particular, in Mali," the statement on the immediate severance of diplomatic relations said.

At the same time, the Malian authorities emphasized that they had maintained a neutral position on the conflict in Ukraine. But everything has changed, and now Mali is declaring the "neo-Nazi and villainous" power of the Kyiv rulers.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, on August 3, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Senegal, Yuriy Pivovarov, was summoned to the country’s Foreign Ministry due to the publication of a video on the embassy’s account supporting terrorists in Mali.

Fierce battles with terrorists continue in Mali - combat aircraft have responded by striking the location of a Tuareg group and foreign mercenaries in Tinhavatin.
…that would be where the CSP-DPA — the latest coalition name of the Azawad (Tuareg) separatists — and the regional al-Qaeda in the Sahel group that in Arabic is called JNIM and in French is GSIM teamed up to beat the pants off those tough Wagner boys. Kiev apparently trained the Tuaregs…
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Burkina Faso called on the international community to assess Kiev's support for terrorism, the publication Burkina24 wrote.

NJ Gov. Phil Murphy eyes crony to replace convicted Sen. Bob Menendez
[NYPOST] New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is strongly considering appointing his former chief of staff to replace convicted US Sen. Bob Menendez, The Post has learned.

Ex-chief of staff George Helmy is a Murphy confidante who sources said did the governor’s iron fist work behind the scenes — and he could be headed to Washington when Menendez resigns effective Aug. 20.

Murphy has informed some Democratic Party leaders in the Garden State that he’s eyeing Helmy — now an executive vice president and external affairs and policy officer at RWJBarnabas Health — to fulfill Menendez’s term, which expires at the end of the year.

Cyber
Kaspersky Lab has discovered an Android Trojan that spies on Russians
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Kaspersky Lab experts have identified a Trojan-type virus that can be used by attackers to spy on Android device owners in Russia. The company reported this on August 5.
"It's unusual in that it's not one of ours"
"LianSpy disguises itself as system applications and financial services. The malware's functionality includes collecting and transmitting to attackers a list of contacts from an infected device, as well as call log data, a list of installed applications," Izvestia quoted Kaspersky Lab cybersecurity expert Dmitry Kalinin as saying.

It is noted that the virus can also record the smartphone screen when opening individual applications, primarily instant messengers, however, most often, the attackers are not interested in the financial information of the victims.

The company added that when launched, the Trojan runs in the background and begins to fully control the device, for example, without showing the owner a notification about turning on the camera or microphone.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, American businessman and billionaire Elon Musk warned on July 7 about the dangers of using the WhatsApp messenger from Meta Platforms Corporation (an organization whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). The entrepreneur was referring to the protection of user data.

Co-founder of the Telegram messenger and the VKontakte social network Pavel Durov said on April 17 that he does not believe in the security of American Internet platforms. In his opinion, any devices used by users can be hacked.

Historic: Kamala Harris Becomes First Black Woman To Destroy World Economy
[Bee] U.S. — Experts predicted that today would go down as a historic day, as Kamala Harris became the first black woman to destroy the world economy.

The achievement was the first of its kind, with members of the media and prominent political leaders all hailing it as an impressive step forward in the pursuit of equality and the advancement of women of color.

"It's a day for the history books, folks," said President Joe Biden. "Not only is Kamala the first... the first... black... the first black... president of the... president, but she is now the first black woman to completely wipe out the global economy. Old white guys like me have been doing it for years, but now she's breaking all the barriers. The idea... the idea... that a colored broad from... Jamaica... India... wherever the place... it's big stuff, folks. I'm proud to have been serving as her vice president of Delaware for the last four years. And now, this November... harbinzifarginator."

Harris's presidential campaign released a statement from the vice president on the achievement: "It is a great honor to be honored," Harris said. "To be the first anything to do anything is something. And by doing something, something is done. The word ’something' means ’some' and ’thing,' which is what I have now done. And that is something."

At publishing time, insiders said Harris, if elected, would likely look to continue leaving a path of destruction until she would go down in history books as the first and only woman of color to preside over the end of human civilization.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Roman Zabolotnev, acting head of Rostov's SIZO-1, where prisoners took hostages in mid-June, has been fired. A criminal case for negligence has been opened against Zabolotnev, sources said.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", on June 16, prisoners took several employees of the detention center hostage in Rostov's SIZO-1. They identified themselves as members of the "Islamic State". Security forces killed the captors and freed the hostages .

Acting head of Rostov's SIZO-1 Roman Zabolotnev has been fired for negligence, and investigators have opened a criminal case against him under the relevant article, the Shot Telegram channel reported today, citing a source.

After the hostage taking in Rostov-on-Don's SIZO-1, Zabolotnev was suspended from work. He filed for sick leave, allegedly because of a broken leg. Zabolotnev returned to work last Friday and was fired the same day, Donnews.ru reported today, citing a source.

As of 11:45 Moscow time, there are no comments on the FSIN website or on the website of the FSIN Directorate for the Rostov Region regarding the information about Roman Zabolotnev’s dismissal.

Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Negligence" provides for up to 7 years of imprisonment.

Recall that, according to human rights activists, the incident with the hostage-taking in the Rostov pretrial detention center may be  the result of a provocation . The murdered prisoners were handcuffed, and numerous violations had been recorded in the pretrial detention center itself, they told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Makhachkala prison chief convicted of torture disappears in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Daud Davydov, who was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2022 for beating prisoners at the Makhachkala pretrial detention center and extortion, disappeared in the military operation zone in Ukraine.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, on February 7, 2023, the court sentenced the former head of the Makhachkala pre-trial detention center Daud Davydov to eight years in prison, two of his subordinates received 5.5 years in prison in the case of beating prisoners and extorting money and property worth 9 million rubles.

The security officials did not admit guilt in torture and extortion. In November of the same year, the Supreme Court of Dagestan upheld the sentence of Davydov and his subordinates. In the spring of 2022, pre-trial detention center inspector Magomed Saliev received 3.5 years in prison, whom the court found guilty of abuse of power and receiving a large bribe. Saliev fully admitted his guilt and entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation. Several episodes in which he appeared were also incriminated to Davydov and his subordinates. Dagestani journalists and a lawyer called the sentence of Davydov and his subordinates unique .

According to the prosecution, from December 2015 to June 2019, security forces repeatedly used physical violence against the arrested man and forced him to re-register his ownership of a land plot, buildings, and an apartment worth more than 5 million rubles. They also received bribes totaling 150,000 rubles from the arrested man's wife and 300,000 rubles from a local resident to improve the conditions of his father's detention, and in February 2019, in collusion with the convicted man, they stole 3.2 million rubles from the arrested man, investigators found out.

The convicted former head of Makhachkala's SIZO-1, Daud Davydov, has gone missing in action in the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine, the chairman of the Public Monitoring Commission of Dagestan, Shamil Khadulaev, reported today.

According to him, Davydov commanded a unit on the front line and went missing two months ago.

Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:10 F-16 fighters are finally in Ukraine. On Sunday, August 4, the Day of the Ukrainian Air Force, Zelensky and Ukrainian media distributed footage from the ceremony of accepting the aircraft into service. The president called what was happening a new stage in the development of the Ukrainian Air Force. Now one of the main goals is to ensure that the fighters are not lost on the ground. For more details, see the article F-16 in Ukraine.

21:39 Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov stated that Ukrainian special services were allegedly preparing attacks in Russia on Navy Day, when Putin and Defense Minister Andrei Belousov spoke at the ceremonial parade in St. Petersburg. According to him, Belousov reported this operation in a telephone conversation with Pentagon Secretary Lloyd Austin. Ryabkov claims that Austin was "extremely surprised by this news, but took it seriously enough, after which Washington contacted Kiev and demanded that they not do what was planned."

19:47 Botswana has joined the Peace Summit communiqué, Zelensky said.

18:32 Russia used a KN-23 ballistic missile from North Korea during the July 31 strike, which failed to reach its target, Defense Express writes. The launch was carried out from Russian territory in the direction of Bila Tserkva, but the missile exploded in the air in the Kiev region. Earlier, it was reported that more than half of the KN-23 missiles lost their programmed trajectory during flight and exploded in the air, since the launch of these missiles was recorded, but their debris was not found. Before that, the Russians did not use these missiles for five months.

17:56 The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called Mali's decision to sever diplomatic relations with Kiev "short-sighted and hasty." The ministry resolutely rejected accusations by the transitional government of Mali of alleged "support by Ukraine of international terrorism." The republic did not provide any evidence of Kiev's involvement in supporting the Tuareg rebels. "Ukraine unconditionally observes the norms of international law, the inviolability of sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries," the Foreign Ministry emphasized.

17:33 There was no crossing of the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal by Russians in the vicinity of Chasov Yar and consolidation of positions behind it, said Andrey Polukhin, press officer of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade. According to him, after the stabilization of the front along the canal line in Chasov Yar, such attempts are constantly taking place with the participation of small infantry groups, but at the moment the enemy has not achieved any results.

16:38 The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security has approved a bill banning the mobilization of men under 25, MP Oleksiy Goncharenko reported. He clarified that this refers to bill 11379-d, which provides for a ban on the mobilization of not only partially fit men aged 18 to 25, but also those who have not completed military service or training at a military department.

15:59 In July, the Air Defense units of the Ground Forces destroyed 446 units of Russian air reconnaissance and attack assets, including three Su-25 aircraft and 437 UAVs of various types.

15:07 Russians are transferring units from the Luhansk region to the Kharkiv direction, said Vitaly Sarantsev, spokesman for the Kharkiv group of troops. In particular, according to him, the 22nd motorized rifle regiment is being sent to the Kharkiv region. In addition, Russian troops are conducting internal rotations and attracting volunteer units, as well as foreign citizens from the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa, who are being forced or deceived into going into battle.

14:38 The Ministry of Veterans Affairs announced the launch of a project to employ veterans in the civil service - the e-Map of Vacancies. The service is already available on the e-Veteran web platform. The goal of the project is to make it easier for veterans to find a job and to facilitate their employment in the civil service.

13:26 Russian propaganda has created a network of 800 Telegram channels to spread the Kremlin's influence abroad, Novaya Gazeta writes. Despite the fact that the EU and the US have banned the broadcasting and distribution of Sputnik and RT content, and YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram have blocked their accounts, pro-government media resources have found a loophole that has allowed them to increase their audience abroad by 2.3 times in two years of war.

In the foreign segment of Telegram, hundreds of pro-Russian channels spread Kremlin conspiracy theories and translate reports from the occupied territory of Donetsk Oblast into 30 languages. In total, they are read by 15.7 million users, and each day, posts from these resources are viewed on average 100 million times.

12:44 The Ministry of Defense has identified three fake Reserve+ web applications, said Deputy Head of the Ministry Ekaterina Chernogorenko. According to her, the sites were discovered at the creation stage, and the mailing has not yet begun.

11:58 Ukraine has received $3.9 billion in a non-repayable grant from the United States through the World Bank, Shmyhal said. According to the prime minister, these funds will help finance priority budget expenditures, such as salaries for teachers and rescuers, and social benefits. This is the first tranche of direct budget support from the United States in 2024. In total, Ukraine will receive $7.8 billion in direct budget assistance from the United States this year.

11:17 In Ukraine, over 87 thousand children were born in the first half of 2024, which is one and a half times less than before the full-scale invasion, according to the Ministry of Justice. At the same time, for every newborn there are three deaths: almost 251 thousand people died in the first six months.

10:54 The SBU reported the neutralization of a large-scale FSB agent network that operated in six regions of Ukraine and was preparing strikes on critical infrastructure facilities. As a result of the special operation, nine Russian agents were simultaneously detained in Dnipro, Zaporozhye and Sumy, as well as in Donetsk, Odessa and Kirovograd regions. The group included two officials: an employee of the Dnipro City Council and the head of the department in the Yuzhne City Council of the Odessa Region. Also among the Russian agents were two managers, a university student and a former employee of the disbanded police. The perpetrators are in custody and face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

10:41 As a result of the Ukrainian strike on the Morozovsk military airfield in the Rostov region on August 3, a Su-34 fighter-bomber was destroyed, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported, citing space reconnaissance data. Two more Russian aircraft of the same type were probably damaged by debris - craters from explosions were recorded near the sides. The aviation weapons depot was also completely destroyed - large areas of scorched earth are visible from the secondary detonation of ammunition on the territory of the airfield and around it. Four technical buildings and two hangars at the Morozovsk airbase, located 265 km from the front line, also received damage that is clearly visible from space.

10:22 Russians struck Dniprovsky district of Kherson in the morning, one person was wounded, the city military administration reported. 01:57 The pro-Russian transitional government of the Republic of Mali announced the severance of diplomatic relations with Ukraine due to Kiev's support for the actions of Tuareg rebels, who recently routed a column of Malian soldiers and Russian mercenaries from the Wagner PMC. POTUS Addresses World's Most Critical Problem: Plastic
[LegalInsurrection] The news cycle has been more like a hurricane
...as in blow me down!...
, with the war in the Middle East poised to erupt, endless drama in the presidential campaigns, and the border invasion now costing states billions.

And, of course, the economy is now in a tailspin.

It has been clear for quite some time that Biden’s mental capacity and ability to focus was diminishing. Perhaps that would explain the new priority for the occupant of the Oval Office: Banning single-use utensils.

The Biden administration is touting a new rule as a means to reduce waste generation, but advocates counter that the government squandered an opportunity to clamp down on single-use plastics.

According to a General Services Administration rule finalized Thursday, products without any single-use plastic packaging on the federal government’s purchasing system will soon be marked with a single icon.

The icon is intended to encourage federal agency buyers to phase out use of single-use plastics, which "will reduce the Government’s waste generation, and potentially save industry partners money by having them reduce unnecessary packaging," the rule says.
I seem to recall that was a campaign promise in 2020. Because Democrats focus on the big picture.

Wow! One little mark can do that? Be careful what you wish for. California banned single-use grocery bags in order to save the planet. So bag manufacturers made thicker, sturdier bags that could be re-used. Thicker bags means more plastic per bag. Unfortunately, most consumers did not re-use the re-usable bags any more than they already did, so net plastic consumption went up. Oopsie!

Australia raises terror threat level to ‘probable,’ citing ‘extreme ideologies’
Taking the opportunity to blame the common folks while ignoring the Moslem colonists — whom the Australians like to call Lebanese — who have been causing the usual problems for the better part of a generation.
[IsraelTimes] Top intelligence official says homegrown extremism increased during pandemic and amid Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza

Australia on Monday raised its terrorism threat level to "probable," with the country’s top intelligence official citing a homegrown rise in "extreme ideologies."

Intelligence chief Mike Burgess said there was no indication of an imminent attack, but there was an increased threat of violence in the next 12 months.

"Australia’s security environment is degrading, is more volatile and more unpredictable," Burgess told news hounds.

"You’ve heard me say many times that espionage and foreign interference are our principal security concerns... intelligence suggests that is no longer accurate.

"Politically motivated violence now joins espionage and foreign interference as our principal security concerns."

Burgess, the head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation, said more Australians were being radicalized and they were increasingly willing to use violence to advance their cause.

"Individuals are embracing anti-authority ideologies, conspiracy theories and diverse grievances. Some are combining multiple beliefs to create new hybrid ideologies," he said.
”Our stupid native peasants are talking themselves into resisting our high-minded importation of large numbers of migrants from the Third World. We must punish them until they once again knuckle their foreheads and keep silence before their betters.”
THREAT ’ACROSS THE BOARD’
Australia’s threat level had until Monday been classified as "possible."

Burgess said extreme ideologies had increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, and more recently during the Israel-Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
conflict.

"An escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, particularly in southern Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
, would inflict further strain, aggravating tensions and potentially fueling grievances," he warned.

In the past four months, eight "attacks or disruptions" had alleged or potential terror links, he said, declining to comment on them in detail.

In one high profile attack in April, a 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed an Assyrian Christian bishop during a live-streamed Sydney church service.

Burgess said none of the terror plots investigated by ASIO in the past year had been inspired by events in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, although the conflict had an impact by fueling grievances, protests, division and intolerance.

"It would also be inaccurate to suggest the next terrorist attack or plot is likely to be motivated by a twisted view of a particular religion or a particular ideology," he said.

"The threat is across the board."

The spy chief said social media and encrypted apps were making the threats "harder to predict and identify."

The internet and social media were "the primary platform for radicalization and the use of encryption by every single one of our investigative subjects," he said.

LITTLE WARNING
In the new threat landscape, attacks were most likely to involve individuals or small groups with rudimentary weapons, often acting with little or no warning or planning, Burgess said.

He also cited a "resurgence" in the involvement of minors, with one recent perpetrator aged just 14.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government was working with social media companies to remove extreme and violent mostly peaceful content and to trial age-verification technology.

The United States and Britannia were also grappling with the rise of extreme ideologies, Albanese said.

"Governments around the world are concerned about youth radicalization, online radicalization, and the rise of new mixed ideologies," he said.

According to the Israel Defense Forces, several drones from Lebanon were spotted crossing into Israel at around 2 a.m. Interceptor missiles were launched at the drones, although the military did not elaborate if any were shot down.

One of the explosive-laden drones struck near Kibbutz Ayelet HaShahar, located about 10 kilometers (6 miles) from the Lebanon border, injuring an IDF soldier and an officer, the military said. They were taken to a hospital in moderate condition, after sustaining shrapnel injuries, medics said.

The impact also sparked a small fire in the area.

Hezbollah grabbed credit for the attack, saying it launched a swarm of explosive drones at an Israeli military base in response to earlier IDF attacks in southern Lebanon.

Another explosive-laden drone launched by Hezbollah struck an area near the border community of Malkia, the IDF said. The terror group also grabbed credit for that attack.

Also overnight, the IDF said it carried out airstrikes against a Hezbollah weapons depot and other infrastructure in Kafr Kila in southern Lebanon, and troops shelled areas near Chebaa and Rachaya al-Foukhar with artillery.

Meanwhile,

on Monday morning, Lebanese media reported that two people were killed in an Israeli dronezap in Mays al-Jabal in southern Lebanon. The IDF later confirmed carrying out the strike, saying it targeted and killed a cell of Hezbollah operatives flying a drone over Mays al-Jabal. A short while after they were spotted, an Israeli Air Force drone struck and killed them. Following the strike, Hezbollah on its Telegram channel announced the deaths of Ali Shuqair, a member of the terror group, and Muhammad Hammadi, a paramedic who was a member of the Islamic Message Scouts Association, a Shiite scouts group associated with the Lebanese terror organization. Both were from Mays al-Jabal.

The IDF did not immediately comment on the strike.

In a separate incident on Monday morning, an interceptor missile was launched at a suspected drone that crossed into Israel from Lebanon in the Western Galilee. The IDF said the incident was "over," without elaborating, adding that sirens sounded in the area out of fear of falling shrapnel from the interceptor.

Another two suspected drones from Lebanon were shot down by air defenses later on Monday, the IDF said, one over the Metula area and the other over the sea near Nahariya.

A barrage of around five rockets was also fired from Lebanon at the Kiryat Shmona area on Monday morning. According to the IDF, all of the rockets were shot down by air defenses. There were no injuries in the attack.

On Sunday, two Hezbollah operatives were killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. In one incident, the IDF said a Hezbollah operative was identified by troops of the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit entering a weapons depot in southern Lebanon’s Houla, and a short while later, a fighter jet airstrike was carried out. In the second incident, a Hezbollah operative spotted in the Beit Lif area was killed in a dronezap, the IDF said.

Hezbollah carried out several rocket attacks on northern Israel on Sunday, with impacts reported in Kiryat Shmona, Malkia, and the Mount Dov area. There were no injuries.

IDF DRILL SIMULATES FIGHTING IN LEBANON
Also on Sunday, the IDF announced that troops of the IDF’s Kfir Brigade carried out a drill simulating fighting in Lebanon, which the military said was part of its efforts to increase readiness for war amid heightened tensions on the northern border. The drill was the latest in a series carried out by the IDF for a potential war in Lebanon, but the first by a standing army brigade. Reserve units conducted all the previous drills. Since October 8, Hezbollah-led forces have attacked Israeli communities and military posts along the border on a near-daily basis. So far, the skirmishes have resulted in 25 civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of 18 IDF soldiers and reservists. There have also been several attacks from Syria, without any injuries.

Hezbollah has named 392 members who have been killed by Israel during the ongoing skirmishes, mostly in Lebanon but some also in Syria. In Lebanon, another 70 operatives from other terror groups, a Lebanese soldier, and dozens of civilians have been killed.

Woman arrested in DC for threatening President Trump. She was found carrying a gun and magazine.
[X]

A San Antonio, Texas woman, Christina Montoya, was arrested in Washington, DC on Friday for allegedly threatening former President Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
. This incident follows an liquidation attempt on Trump during his July 13 rally.

Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers apprehended Montoya after receiving a tip that she had traveled to the capital. She was found with an unlicensed firearm and a magazine, KENS 5 reported. Trump, however, was in the Hamptons meeting with donors on the day of the arrest.

The specifics of the threats Montoya allegedly made remain unclear, but the police report lists an "offense start date" of July 20, 2024. Montoya was arrested less than a mile from Capitol Hill and about three miles from the White House.

Montoya faces charges of possessing an unregistered firearm, carrying a pistol without a license, and making threats against a former president. Trump is listed as a victim in the threats charge, according to KENS 5.
Fox News adds:
Police were first notified about her by the Secret Service, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
How clever of the Secret Service to get this one caught ahead of time.

Strip on Monday morning, the Israel Defense Forces said. The troops, of the 205th "Iron Fist" Reserve Armored Brigade’s 9215th Battalion, were taken to a hospital in Israel for treatment.

According to an initial probe, the troops were maimed by an bomb or grenade hurled at them by a Hamas

operative. Four of the reservists were seriously maimed, two were listed in moderate condition, and one was lightly injured.

Also on Monday morning, an Israeli truck driver was lightly injured by a rocket impact near Kibbutz Re’ím, as snuffies in the Gaza Strip launched a barrage at southern Israel. The barrage of some 15 rockets fired from the Khan Younis area in southern Gaza was the latest in a series of attacks, bringing the total number of rockets fired at Israel from the Strip since Friday to around 40. According to the Israel Defense Forces, several of the 15 rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome, but others impacted the Re’im and Gama Junction area.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said it was taking a man aged 37, a truck driver, to a hospital in good condition after he was hurt by a rocket impact near Re’im.

On Sunday, following the repeated rocket attacks on Israel from Khan Younis, the IDF issued an evacuation warning for the area, saying that it would "forcefully operate" against terror groups there.

IDF: KEY HAMAS BATTALION COMMANDER KILLED IN STRIKE ON GAZA SCHOOL
The commander of Hamas’s Sheikh Radwan Battalion, known in the IDF as the al-Furqan Battalion, was killed in an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in the Gaza Strip, the military announced on Monday.

Jaber Aziz, the commander of the battalion which is part of Hamas’s Gaza City Brigade, was killed in an airstrike against a school in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood a day earlier, the IDF said.

The IDF said on Sunday that it struck two Hamas command and control rooms embedded within the Hassan Salama and Nasr schools in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan.

Citing intelligence information, the IDF said Aziz was killed in the strike on the Hassan Salama school, alongside other operatives. Aziz had served in the role of commander of the Sheikh Radwan Battalion since 2020, after previously serving as the deputy commander of the battalion. He also previously headed the Zeitoun Battalion, according to the IDF.

The IDF said he took a "significant part" in planning the October 7 onslaught, leading the preparations and training in his battalion. Aziz himself participated in raiding Israeli communities on October 7, according to the IDF.

During the war, Aziz directed numerous attacks against Israeli troops in Gaza, and against Israeli civilians, and the IDF said his killing was a "significant blow" to Hamas’s capabilities.

HAMAS ECONOMY MINISTER KILLED IN STRIKE
Also on Monday, the IDF said it had killed Hamas’s economy minister in an airstrike in the Gaza Strip a day earlier.

According to the IDF, Abd al-Fattah al-Zari’i also served as an operative in Hamas’s manufacturing division. The IDF said the manufacturing division works to "increase Hamas’s weapons capabilities, including by exchanging information with other terror organizations across the Middle East."

Al-Zari’i, according to the IDF, also played a "significant role in directing Hamas’s efforts to seize control of humanitarian aid entering the Gaza Strip" as well as managing Hamas-controlled markets. Additionally, he was responsible for the distribution of fuel, gas, and funds for "terror activities," the military added.
A man of many talents…
Paleostinian media reported that the strike killed al-Zari’i took place in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah, and his mother was also killed in the attack.

80 BODIES SAID RETURNED TO GAZA
“Never mind!”
Paleostinian media outlets on Monday morning reported that more than 80 bodies were returned by Israeli authorities to the Gaza Strip.

Amid the war in Gaza, the IDF has taken for identification bodies suspected of being those of hostages, returning them after confirming they do not belong to any captives that were kidnapped by Hamas on October 7.

At least 39 of the remaining 111 hostages taken by Hamas on October 7 have been confirmed dead.

Federal Court Finds Google is a Monopolist in Relevant Markets
[Epoch Times] In a landmark legal decision, a federal judge ruled that Google violated antitrust laws by maintaining its monopoly power in the markets for general search services and general search text advertisements.

The ruling, issued on Aug. 5 by Judge Amit Mehta, concludes a lengthy legal battle initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice and a coalition of state attorneys general.
Where have we heard that judge's name before?
The case against Google, filed in October 2020, alleged that the tech giant engaged in anti-competitive practices by establishing exclusive agreements with browser developers, mobile device manufacturers, and wireless carriers.

These agreements prohibited partners from pre-installing rival search engines, leading most U.S. devices to come preloaded exclusively with Google, forcing competitors to find alternative ways to reach users.

The court said Google’s conduct allowed the company to charge "supracompetitive prices for general search text ads," enabling it to earn substantial monopoly profits.

Google said in a statement to The Epoch Times that "this decision recognizes that Google offers the best search engine, but concludes that we shouldn’t be allowed to make it easily available.
Boo hoo.
To be fair, not everyone recognizes Google as the best search engine, just the biggest.
The case is seen as the most significant antitrust trial of the century.

The ruling suggests the possibility of structural relief as a remedy, involving changes to Google’s business operations, such as altering or terminating exclusive agreements that make Google’s search engine the default option.

While the court ruling does not specify breaking up the company, potential remedies will be determined in subsequent proceedings.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. admits he left dead bear in New York’s Central Park in 2014 prank
[IsraelTimes] US presidential hopeful says a woman had hit the animal with her car; he’d intended to skin and eat it, but instead dumped carcass with bike on top to make it look like an accident

Independent US presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he once retrieved a bear that was killed by a motorist and left it in New York’s Central Park with a bicycle on top, sparking a mystery that consumed the city a decade ago.

Kennedy describes the incident in a video that was posted to social media Sunday, adding it will be included in a forthcoming New Yorker article that he expects to be damaging.
Boys will be boys. I mean, c’mon, guys — he was only 60 when it happened!
It’s the latest bizarre incident in Kennedy’s quixotic campaign that has divided his famous family and left Republicans and Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
alike concerned about his potential impact on the presidential contest.

Kennedy has acknowledged a parasite that lodged in his brain and died. He denied eating a dog after a friend shared a photo with Vanity Fair magazine showing Kennedy dramatically preparing to take a bite of a charred animal; Kennedy said it was a goat.

In the video, Kennedy recounts the story to actress Roseanne Barr. He says he was heading to a falconry excursion with friends when a woman driving ahead of him hit and killed the young bear with her vehicle.

He says he put it in his own vehicle, intending to skin it and eat the meat, but the day got away from him.

Eventually, he says, he was in Manhattan and needed to get the bear carcass out of his vehicle. His friends, fueled by alcohol, concocted the Central Park plan as a prank, he said, adding he was not drunk himself.

At the time, bicycle accidents were getting significant media attention, so Kennedy and his friends thought it would be funny to make it look like the bear was hit by a bicycle.

Two women walking their dogs found the dead bear and alerted authorities, touching off a mystery that captivated the city for a few days. Bears are not among the park’s known wildlife population.
Just junkies and feral youts
The bike was dusted for prints and the animal sent to Albany for a necropsy, which determined the bear was likely hit by a vehicle and was not a victim of animal cruelty.

But how the bear ended up in Central Park remained a mystery.

"I was worried because my prints were all over that bike," Kennedy tells Barr in the video.
His Wikipedia page makes for fascinating reading, despite the heavy judgementalism of the editors.

Think Black Bear Cub size & weight 1-year is 50-80 lbs. RFK claims he picked it up, loaded it then transported it, what 100 miles, to Central Park unloaded it unseen, and staged it with a Bike?

As the AP stated in its story, then? "The cub’s head was on top of the back bicycle wheel."

Question: Was the head cut off and place on the bike before or after he gathered his road kill?

Also think of the taxpayer costs and lost local business revenues, to clean up and investigate the prank by a 60-year man claiming to be able to lead a nation.

Sorry.

as widespread violence persisted throughout the night, the coordinators decided to announce their stance as quickly as possible, even in the middle of the night.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Monday night gave his nod to form an interim government to run the country following the resignation of the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
This decision was made during a meeting at Bangabhaban after discussing the current situation with the chiefs of the Army, Navy, Air Force, leaders of various political parties, and members of civil society, according to a blurb signed by Muhammad Shiplu Zaman, Assistant Press Secretary of Bangabhaban.

The Army has been tasked with stopping the vandalism and ensuring law enforcement, which deteriorated severely after Sheikh Hasina left the country Monday afternoon.

Earlier in the afternoon, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman held a meeting with several political party leaders and civil society members at the Army Headquarters. After the meeting, he told the media that the formation of an interim government had been decided and would take effect shortly after discussions with the president.

In a press briefing after the meeting, the army chief said justice would be ensured for all killings and injustices.

"Keep trust in the army," he said, calling on everyone to shun the path of violence and return home.

The army chief also mentioned that he would soon meet with representatives of students and teachers.

He expressed confidence that the situation would return to normal soon and sought all-out cooperation from people of all classes and professions, including students, regardless of party affiliations and opinions.

#4  Andrew Grove was one of the greats. Joined Intel in 1968 when its revenue was about $3k and left as CEO 30 years later when its revenue was about $20 billion. Always could manage both the details and the strategy. Even the final years as CEO he continued to have, as his office, a standard 9' by 8' cubicle (although he was on the road a lot). He stayed on the board of directors for a few more years but eventually retired completely in 2004 or so.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
UNRWA: Nine Members Might Have Participated in October 7 Attack on Israel
[LegalInsurrection] The United Nations
...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks...
Relief and Works Agency for Paleostine (UNRWA) revealed an investigation found that nine staff members might have participated in the massacre and attack on Israel on October 7.

"For nine people, the evidence was sufficient to conclude that they may have been involved in the seventh of October attacks," said Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq.

Israel previously named 100 UNRWA employees doubling as Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
terrorists.

But I guess only 19 made the list for the organization.

"I acknowledge the completion of the investigation by the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) into the serious allegations that 19 area UNRWA staff members in Gaza were involved in the abhorrent attacks of 7 October on southern Israel," wrote Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General.

Lazzarini said nine cases had no evidence against the staffers.

One case showed no evidence against the staffer, who has since rejoined UNWRA.

But the other nine cases "the evidence — if authenticated and corroborated — could indicate that the UNRWA staff members may have been involved in the attacks of 7 October."

"I have decided that in the case of these remaining nine staff members, they cannot work for UNRWA," wrote Lazzarini in the press statement. "All contracts of these staff members will be terminated in the interest of the Agency."

Who knows when UNWRA will take action against the nine staffers?

In January, the U.S. and other Western countries halted UNRWA funding due tot he accusations

At the time, Shin Bet, an Israeli intelligence community, gave UNRWA and the UN information that showed UNWRA employees participated and used "the agency’s vehicles and facilities during the Oct. 7 Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
attack."

An Israeli official said, "This was strong and corroborated intelligence. A lot of the intelligence is a result of interrogations of Death Eaters who were arrested during the Oct. 7 attack."

The Times of Israel has more here.

#1  Only nine? I head somewhere (here most likely) that it was 12, then 22 then some other numbers.

Personally, I think it's the entire UNRWA that's involved.

#3  probably only 9 were obviously in the happy bragging videos sent by the terrorists to their families when they were slaughtering civilians

IDF has identified many more (I think over 100) based on testimony by captured terrorists. And of course there were many more who provided logistics or other help to the active Hamas units doing the terror work.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran's Last Warning: Why Tehran's Retaliation Isn't Impressive
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] Since the outbreak of the major crisis in the Gaza Strip in October 2023, Iranian threats against Israel have become much more frequent, mostly echoing news of another attack by Israeli “leader hunters.”

In less than a year, Israel has eliminated at least 20 members of the so-called “Axis of Resistance,” led by Tehran (with Tel Aviv officially claiming responsibility for only 14 people).
The others spontaneously evaporated, I suppose.
These were mainly mid-level commanders, but there were also some fairly important figures among them, such as, for example, the creator of the Lebanese Hezbollah missile program, Fuad Shukr.

Tehran has been making threats but has not been particularly keen on escalation.

However, after the assassination of the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, the matter took a fundamentally different turn. The death of a high-ranking guest and comrade in the "Axis of Resistance", who also arrived for the inauguration of the Iranian president, was very painfully received by Iranians, who were accustomed to seeing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a "shield and sword" in the fight against the Israeli threat.

DELAYED RESPONSE
Haniyeh, at a very inconvenient time for the new Iranian government, has joined the list of “significant victims” of the Iranian-Israeli asymmetric conflict, joining the ranks of the founder of the “Axis of Resistance” Qasem Soleimani and nuclear physicist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who is considered the “father of the Iranian nuclear program.”

And although Israel never took responsibility for the liquidation of Haniyeh, the "handwriting" of the assassination attempt was quite clear. To ignore such an action would be to give tacit consent to the Israelis to carry out even more daring attacks.

At the same time, Iran, although promising, is in no hurry to strike back. And there are several reasons for this.

The first (and most obvious) is the need to “build up strength” before launching. Despite the significant stockpiles of weapons both among the Iranians and their proxy groups, every attack that claims the status of “revenge” requires careful preparation.

Thus, if Tehran prepared for Operation Martyr Soleimani (2020) for five days, it took almost two weeks to prepare for Operation True Promise (2024), which was a response to the Israeli airstrike on the consulate in Damascus.

Given that with each new operation Iran seeks to surpass the cumulative effect of previous actions, preparation of a “retaliatory move” for the recent incidents in Tehran and Beirut may take several more weeks.

At the same time, it is not at all necessary that Tehran will remain silent all this time - “harassing strikes” from the Lebanese Hezbollah and Yemeni Houthis, as well as the “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” may well accompany preparations for more serious steps.

This is quite consistent with the US State Department's statements that Iran will strike Israel within the next 48 hours.

The second reason is the desire to stretch the action for as long as possible and thereby maximize its final effect. For example, Tehran, until the end of 2023, made references to Operation Martyr Soleimani when conducting actions against Israel, thereby emphasizing the systematic and inseparable nature of its struggle.

It is quite possible that the Iranian leadership is initially considering the possibility of launching strikes in “waves,” alternating the resources of the main proxy groups.

A certain role in Tehran’s strategy is also played by the reluctance to disrupt the negotiation process on Gaza. The implementation of the “Peace Plan” proposed by the Joe Biden administration, although not fully in line with Iranian interests, underlines the readiness of the Iranian influence network to stay within the mainstream of a diplomatic settlement.

While Israel, with its desire to torpedo the deal, is, on the contrary, increasingly perceived as a “political bully.” And this directly affects the willingness of the world community to stand up for it in the event of a large-scale conflict.

Finally, a direct clash between Israel and Iran would immediately untie the hands of Tehran's opponents and allow them to accuse it of aggression. Given that the Iranian leadership is aiming for a gradual easing of tensions with the West, no one wants to give their opponents an extra trump card.

DIVIDE AND RULE
For now, Tehran is betting on maintaining the “Middle East suspense” for as long as possible, while simultaneously ratcheting up the rhetoric and promising crushing blows not only to Israeli territory, but also to the targets of its neighbors and partners.

The frequency of warning statements from Tehran has increased in the last 24 hours, including in light of rumors circulating in the region's media about an Israeli preemptive strike on Iranian territory, allegedly sanctioned by the White House.

The ultimate goal of the manipulations is to destroy the anti-Iranian “anti-missile coalition” (which the US is hastily assembling) before it is fully formed.

Moreover, most of Israel's potential defenders have already experienced the power of Tehran's counter-actions in one way or another. Saudi Arabia and the UAE remember them especially well, for whom the confrontation with the Houthis resulted in multi-billion dollar losses.

To some extent, Iran’s “public intimidation” tactics are even bearing fruit. For example, Egypt has neatly deflected the US call to “jointly protect” Israeli airspace from possible attacks. Cairo, which takes Tehran’s threats very seriously, has chosen not to disrupt the already difficult diplomatic settlement between the two countries and has distanced itself from the conflict.

Israel's second "old ally," Jordan, is also in question. Even if Amman does take part in protecting Israeli territory from shelling, it will seek to downplay its own contribution so as not to aggravate the royal house's relations with the large Palestinian community.

It is much more likely that the main burden of "cleansing" Israeli airspace will ultimately be taken on by Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain, relying on the military infrastructure that was created in these countries with the participation of Washington. The international coalition, whose forces are concentrated in the Red Sea, will also join the process.

In fact, the emerging defense model is entirely based on the experience of responding to Operation True Promise and does not assume that Tehran, in avenging Haniyeh, will deviate too much from its previous tactics.

And although the parties to the conflict continue to boast of their combined military might and readiness for any development of events, everyone would prefer that the next round of escalation between Iran and Israel occur within the framework of a given scenario and not push the region towards a major conflict.

Head of Arab Americans for Trump says candidate supports two-state solution
[IsraelTimes] Bishara Bahbah dismisses Trump’s pro-Israel policies during his presidency, says he believes former president will not advance his Muslim ban again.
Given that there never was a blanket ban — President Trump wanted to ban entry to those from countries so lawless they were incapable of vetting those who claimed to be their citizens — that’s an easy promise to make. As for the two-state solution, I imagine as president Mr. Trump will be busy extending the Abraham Accords and encouraging increased domestic oil and gas production, which will make the Palestinian question moot as an issue.
Bishara A. Bahbah is the national chairman of “Arab Americans for Trump.” He formerly taught at Harvard University and was the associate director of its Middle East Institute.
Mr. Bahbah has been blogging for the Times of Israel since 2020, for those interested in what else he has had to say beyond the quotes in this article.

Related: The New Yorker, which assumes that all Arab-Americans are Moslem, did a story about Mr. Bahbah and his group here. Apparently Mr. Bahbah has been campaigning for President Trump in Michigan alongside Richard Grenell and Massad Boulos, Tiffany Trump’s father-in-law.

[Dhaka Tribune] the loathesome Sheikh Hasina

That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
's son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, has ruled out any political comeback for his mother, saying she is "deeply disappointed" by the uprising against her leadership, despite her efforts to transform Bangladesh.

In an interview with the BBC World Service's Newshour program, Joy, who served as an official adviser to the former prime minister until Monday, said Hasina had been contemplating resignation since Sunday and had left the country for her safety following pressure from her family.

"She has turned Bangladesh around. When she took over power it was considered a failing state. It was a poor country. Until today it was considered one of the rising tigers of Asia," Joy said, defending his mother’s record in office.

Addressing allegations of excessive force against protesters, Joy said the government's response had been justified given the violence faced by law enforcement. "You’ve had coppers beaten to death — 13 just yesterday. So what do you expect the police to do when mobs are beating people to death?"
