Palestinian whose name appears on terror watchlist captured at southern border
[NY Post] A Palestinian migrant whose name appears on a terror watchlist for allegedly previously using "explosives/firearms" was caught at the southern border Monday, The Post can exclusively reveal.

Border Patrol agents caught Omar Shehada, 35, at the border in Santa Teresa, New Mexico, according to a leaked memo obtained by The Post.

The arrest of Shehada — who hails from the West Bank — comes just weeks after three other suspected Palestinian terrorists were caught at the California border.

One of those suspects allegedly had "salacious photos" on their phone — including a picture of a masked man holding an AK-47 rifle, sources told The Post.

It also comes almost a year after Border Patrol sent out a memo to its agents warning about Palestinian terrorists potentially coming across the border following the Oct. 7 terror attack.

"Individuals inspired by, or reacting to the current Israel-Hamas conflict may attempt travel to or from the area of hostilities in the Middle East via circuitous transit across the Southwest border," the alert read.

It is not known which terror organization Shehada is allegedly affiliated with, but he’s listed on the terror watchlist for using "explosives/arms," according to the Border Patrol memo.

His journey to the border started in Madrid last month, according to the memo. From there, he went to Bogota, Panama City and San Salvador.

Shehada remains in custody pending his removal from the US.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, the number of migrants on the terror watchlist caught at the US-Mexico border has skyrocketed.

Border agents caught 26 suspected terrorists at the southern border between October 2016 and September 2021. Then, between October 2021 and September 2022, they caught 98 suspected terrorists — followed by 169 over the same period the following year and 93 between October 2023 and June 2024, according to agency data.
Jewish Press gives his name as Omar Nawaf Issa Shehada.

Government Corruption
Sex, Suicide, And Terrible OpSec: Trump's Secret Service Detail Is A Mess
[ZERO] Authored by Susan Crabtree via RealClearPolitics (emphasis ours).

Rancor, recriminations, and serious formal misconduct complaints have plagued all levels of the Secret Service detail assigned to protect former President Donald Trump over the last year, distracting the team from its core mission of securing Trump from physical harm and preventing an assassination.

Trump’s regular detail team, a force of 60 employees — special agents and support staff — has been beset by internal division, long workdays and weeks, and constant stress. Last year, the team lost one of its members to suicide.

Among the allegations are accusations of improper sexual relationships or fraternization within the team, debilitating mental health issues, non-merit-based promotions, conflict of interest issues, unfair retaliation and the creation of inappropriate memes and social media posts.

On May 15, the top two leaders of Trump’s detail sternly dressed down the entire 60-member staff in a virtual meeting, announcing formal investigations into what they argued were serious misconduct violations, several sources in the Secret Service with direct knowledge of the online meeting tell RealClearPolitics.

Sean Curran, the detail leader and top boss of Trump’s regular 60-member protective team, and his deputy, Matthew Piant, complained of "rumors, innuendo and toxicity" among the detail, as well as "selfishness and immaturity."

They reminded all employees that they had worked to mentor and train them, and, up to this point, had refrained from referring agents and support employees for discipline even though there had been violations that they could have reported to agency headquarters for investigation.

Curran and Piant complained that they were not getting the same treatment in response from the team. Over the last year, the two leaders have been the target of formal complaints, and some members on the team viewed the all-hands lecture as an effort to turn the tables and retaliate on those complaining about their leadership.

Piant spoke first, accusing someone on the detail of stealing from another. But he quickly shifted to harshly condemning an incident in which a teammate took cellphone photos of two members of the support staff sleeping in a command post while guarding Mar-a-Lago and circulated those to others on the detail.

The No. 2 on the detail deemed the prank a betrayal of the team for the purpose of "humor and gossip," according to detailed accounts. Those encountering the sleeping individuals should have simply held the team members accountable by waking them up with a nudge, he said.

#3  MOAR Susan Crabtree:
🚨🚨EXCLUSIVE and BREAKING: During a Donald Trump visit to North Carolina yesterday, a woman Secret Service special agent abandoned her post to breastfeed with no permission/warning to the event site agent, according to three sources in the Secret Service community.
Shortly before Trump's motorcade arrival -- I'm told five minutes beforehand -- the site agent was getting ready for the arrival. (The site agent is the person in charge of the entire event's security.)

The site agent went to do one final sweep of the walking route and found the agent breast-feeding her child in a room that is supposed to be set aside for important Secret Service official work, i.e. a potential emergency related to the president.

A working agent on duty cannot bring a child to a protective assignment. The woman was out of the Atlanta Field Office.

The woman agent was in the room with two other family members.

The agent and her family members bypassed the Uniformed Division checkpoint and were escorted by an unpinned event staff into the room to breastfeed, the sources said. Unpinned means they have not been cleared by the Secret Service to be there.

When contacted about the incident, Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the incident did not have an impact on the event. and it's under review.

"All employees of the U.S. Secret Service are held to the highest standards," he said. "While there was no impact to the North Carolina event, the specifics of this incident are being examined. Given this is a personnel matter, we are not in a position to comment further."

Anti-Israel protesters clash with law enforcement, unleash smoke bombs following Harris rally
[FoxNews] Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with law enforcement and stormed an afterparty marking Vice President Kamala Harris' rally in New York City.

In video footage, demonstrators were seen lining the street following a Harris rally attended by New York City Mayor Eric Adams in Harlem.

"You set Palestine on fire," one of the protesters was heard yelling.

The video footage captured anti-Israel protests creating a ruckus and setting off smoke bombs.

"How dare you," another yelled.

Harris has faced protesters at previous campaign stops, shouting them down after they interrupted the event.

"You know what, if you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, I'm speaking," Harris said at a Michigan campaign event, eliciting static cheers from the audience.

The Biden administration's support of Israel in its ongoing war against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip has been a weak spot for the administration.

Government Corruption
DOJ suddenly located Biden biographer transcripts created by Robert Hur
So what's the new take on the Trump documents?
[FoxNews] Hur used them in part in concluding Biden is a 'well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory'

During an ongoing lawsuit aimed at forcing the Justice Department (DOJ) to produce records from Special Counsel Robert Hur's probe into Joe Biden's handling of classified documents before being elected president, the DOJ revealed the discovery of 117 pages of transcribed discussions between the president and his ghostwriter.

The find was highlighted Wednesday by the Oversight Project, a conservative government transparency watchdog that sued the DOJ.

The ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, was previously subject to a March subpoena from the House Judiciary Committee, which sought any and all documents, contracts and recordings of interviews and conversations with Biden.

However, Oversight Project counsel Kyle Brosnan said on Wednesday this particular revelation is both new and further animates the need for transparency in regard to questions about Biden’s competency.

Brosnan said that just prior to the Oversight Project’s last hearing on the matter, the Justice Department informed the court of the transcripts.

"There do exist written transcripts of President Biden’s interviews with his ghostwriter where they discuss classified material, and that Special Counsel Hur relied upon those written transcripts in coming to his conclusions [that Biden was a ‘well-meaning elderly man with a poor memory’]."

The memoir Zwonitzer assisted with, "Promise Me, Dad," was released in 2017.

"The discovery of those materials has been the subject of a lot of back-and-forth between us and the Justice Department about how we want to proceed," Brosnan added.

"We’re trying to figure out how that discovery impacts the case and kind of what the next steps are there."

According to a court filing obtained by Fox News Digital, Justice Department officials flagged the apparent discovery to the bench and plaintiff Mike Howell, Brosnan’s colleague and the executive director of the Oversight Project.

The officials wrote that in their prior June court appearance they attested that Hur’s office did not have a verbatim transcript of any Zwonitzer-Biden recordings.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Special Forces Soldier Who Shot Chechen Illegal Won't Be Charged; Details Reveal Tom Clancy-Like Scene
[RedState] This whole story reeks. I'm glad they didn't charge him
No charges will be filed against a Special Forces soldier based at Fort Liberty, North Carolina, who shot and killed a Chechen man who was on his property doing survey work for a utility subcontractor, the Moore County (NC) Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday, citing the North Carolina Castle Doctrine.

As RedState reported in late May, Ramzan Daraev was spotted taking photographs of the soldier's home around 8:15 PM on Friday, May 3, and reportedly became aggressive toward the soldier when approached. When law enforcement authorities arrived at the home in the Carthage area they found Daraev's body approximately 250 yards from the roadway, along a powerline on the property.

At the time of the initial report, there were several red flags in the information reported by the Sheriff's Office:

  • Daraev was not in possession of any utility equipment, utility clothing, or identification.

  • The only identifying document found was Daraev's international driver's license, which was on his car and not on his person.

  • Daraev was working at dusk on a Friday night, without notifying the homeowner of his presence.

There are additional red flags and interesting bits of information in the (long) press release from MCSO:

  • Daraev was first spotted by the soldier/homeowner's wife, who reported that he was taking pictures near their residence while she was outside with their children.

  • The homeowner, unarmed, approached Daraev to ask what he was doing, then asked him to leave.

  • Darev became aggressive, refused to leave, and said he was a Chechen who'd fought in Ukraine for the Russian military.

  • Two calls were made from the home to 911; approximately 20 minutes elapsed between the time of the first call and the shooting.

  • After the first 911 call the homeowner went inside his home to get a handgun for safety, then went back outside to keep an eye on Daraev until law enforcement arrived.

  • After the second 911 call (13 minutes after the first) Daraev lunged at the homeowner several times, and the homeowner fired multiple shots at Daraev.

  • Whether on his person or in his vehicle, the only items Daraev had with him were his international drivers license and his cell phone.

  • Daraev was wearing black shorts, a burgundy t-shirt, and flip flops at the time he died.

  • Daraev was driving his personal vehicle, a Chevrolet Spark.

  • Daraev entered the United States through the southern border in December, 2022.

  • Daraev had an encounter with a patrol deputy about two hours before he was shot, but as Daraev wasn't doing anything illegal he was not detained.

  • Investigators (including federal and military agencies) have not been able to access Daraev's phone.

  • Daraev was working with Cable Warriors, a subcontractor of Utilities One, as part of Brightspeed's fiberoptic project in Moore County.

  • Among the digital evidence: electrical infrastructure maps related to the utility expansion provided to employees from a Russian cloud server.

Business records obtained by RedState reveal that Cable Warriors was incorporated in late 2022 in New Jersey by Silvia Midari, whose prior job history includes a stint as a cashier at the Pantry Store and Arnold's Restaurant on Cape Cod. While Midari lists her title as "Business Development Specialist" on LinkedIn, incorporation documents show her as the CEO and sole shareholder.

Midari's LinkedIn profile also reveals a six-year gap between her employment in Eastern Europe with a translation company immediately prior to her relocation to New Jersey and the founding of Cable Warriors.

Utilities One, the main contractor, is also tied to Eastern Europe. Fox News' Jennifer Griffin reported in May:

Utilities One [is] a foreign-registered New Jersey-based company founded in 2016 by a young CEO from Moldova, who founded the firm three years after moving to the U.S. and working as a dishwasher and selling ice in Alaska. The company was incorporated on December 20th, 2023.

The company's vice president of fulfillment and infrastructure is from Russia as well.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US NSC to 'Post': Claims of sharing intel of Mossad agents with Tehran 'Categorically false'
[JPost] Denial: of course. Likelihood: High
The report first originated from a Fox News article, citing a report in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida.
This article has since been revised. Comments on revisions are at the bottom of the report.

The US National Security Council denied reports on Wednesday that a high-ranking American security delegation, mediated by Oman, secretly traveled to Tehran to share information in an effort to appease Iran.

The report first originated from a Fox News article, which has since been taken down, citing a report in the Kuwaiti newspaper Al Jarida, which allegedly spoke to an unnamed source in Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

"This is categorically false," a US National Security Council spokesperson told The Jerusalem Post.
"Harumph!"
Fox News reported that the delegation allegedly sought to deliver messages to Tehran in order to de-escalate the tensions in the region between Iran and Israel.

According to the report, this delegation was sent to convey to Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei that the Biden-Harris administration was "kept in the dark" by Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the assassinations of Hamas's Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah's Fuad Shukr. Israel took responsibility for the assassination of Shukr but has yet to comment on the death of Haniyeh in Tehran.

Allegations behind the death of Hamas leader Haniyeh
Haniyeh was killed by an explosive device that was smuggled into his guesthouse in Tehran, the New York Times reported, and the Jerusalem Post independently confirmed. The bomb was hidden in June and utilized remote technology.

Fox News also reported on the recent development, noting that the American delegation was speculated to arrive in Iran through Turkey, landing at the Payam-e-Khorram Airport in Karaj last Thursday and engaging in a two-hour meeting with Iranian officials before returning to Turkey.

Allegedly, the American delegation presented a list with the names of ten Mossad agents within Iran whom the Americans believed were involved in the assassination, directly or indirectly.

The original version of this article included that the original Al Jarida report said that the Americans would have reportedly done this as a "good faith" initiative in response to Israel's strikes, which were carried out without American coordination. This article has been edited since.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Crime-ridden Washington DC offers 911 dispatchers $800 bonus just for showing up to work
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The bosses in charge of DC's crumbling 911 dispatch system have resorted to offering their staff an extra $800 a month just to turn up to work when they are supposed to.

The desperate move came after the number of dangerously undermanned shifts jumped from 24 percent in May, to 88 percent in July.

IT failures have stopped emergency calls coming through seven times so far this year including earlier this month when a five-month-old baby died during a two-hour outage.

And the system has become so unreliable that DC Fire and EMS has now created a shadow dispatch operation for the calls they need to deal with.

'Is it not wild to you that our first-responder agency has set up a workaround for our 911 call center?' demanded DC council member Brianne Nadeau. 'It's bonkers.'

A series of powerful flares occurred on the Sun
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Scientists registered five powerful solar flares on August 14, one of them was of the highest class X, the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FGBU "IPG") reported.

“On August 14 at 09:40 Moscow time, an X1.1 flare lasting 58 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in the sunspot group 3784 (N13E04),” the institute reported.

It is noted that the powerful flash was accompanied by a disruption of HF radio communications.

Also, flares of M1.3, M1.2, M4.2 and M4.4 were registered on the Sun, the first of which occurred on August 14 at 01:45 Moscow time.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 6, two powerful flares of the highest class occurred on the Sun, preceded by a series of medium explosions, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory reported. Both explosions were recorded at the edge of the solar disk. The Sun, apparently, is entering a continuous activity mode, the experts noted.

On the night of July 8, scientists registered five strong solar flares. One of them (flare M1.5) occurred at 00:59 Moscow time and lasted 10 minutes. At 02:23 Moscow time, a flare M1.0 occurred lasting 18 minutes. In the southern hemisphere on the eastern limb, scientists also registered flares M2.5, M1.1 and M1.3.

Zakharova: Ukrainian Armed Forces militants were given orders to shoot residents of Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The militants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces captured in the Kursk region admit that they received orders to shoot civilians in the region in case of resistance, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on August 14.

“The criminal regime of the expired Zelensky” continues to demonstrate its true – neo-Nazi – essence, Zakharova noted in a commentary published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"Ukrobandera's armed formations are indiscriminately firing at civilians trying to evacuate dangerous areas, shelling residential buildings and civilian infrastructure, and engaging in outright looting. The captured Ukrainian Armed Forces militants admit that they were ordered to mercilessly shoot everyone on the spot in the event of resistance from civilians," the official representative of the Foreign Ministry said.

Zakharova also noted that Kiev's attacks on the Kursk region did not achieve its goal of distracting Russian forces from the liberation of Donbass and Slobozhanshchina. The collapse of the thoroughly rotten regime in Kiev, which is supported by money from the West, is only a matter of time, she added.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been attacking the Kursk region since August 6. Russian Armed Forces units stopped Ukrainian troops in border areas, preventing them from entering the region. According to data as of August 14, the enemy lost up to 2,300 people, the Defense Ministry reported.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces were tasked with reaching Kursk and Belgorod and shooting civilians in case of resistance; the units were engaged in looting, a previously captured Ukrainian army soldier said.

During the attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the region, 12 civilians were killed and 121 people were wounded, the acting governor of the Kursk region Alexey Smirnov said earlier. The Investigative Committee reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively using NATO weapons in the Kursk region. The West supports Kiev's attack on the region, noted FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov.

During a meeting on August 12, President Vladimir Putin demanded that the border with Ukraine be reliably covered after the enemy is driven out of Russian territory. There can be no negotiations with those who attack civilians and nuclear power facilities, the head of state said.

Europe
France has banned the Russian frigate Shtandart from entering its port
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian frigate Shtandart, which is under Western sanctions, has been banned from entering the port of Granville to participate in the sailing ship festival. The corresponding decision was made by the authorities of the Manche department, reports the publication La Manche Libre.

"Following the amendments of 24 June, the EU regulation on restrictive measures related to Russia's actions in Ukraine now includes 'historical replicas of ships' within the framework of the ban on access to ports of member states, as well as ships sailing or sailing under the Russian flag before 24 February 2022," the prefecture said in the order.

It is specified that the Russian ship was invited by the community of Granville-Terre and Mer communes to participate in the Working Sails festival, which will take place from August 21 to 25.

The ship's captain, Vladimir Martus, was familiarized with the document, the publication concluded.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 5, the crew of the Russian sailing ship Shtandart was allowed into the port of La Rochelle in France. The frigate was allowed to enter to replenish supplies.

In June, the European Union decided to impose sanctions on 27 cargo ships linked to Russia as part of a new package of restrictive measures, barring them from entering EU ports.

On July 27, the Maritime Authority of the Spanish autonomous community of Galicia ordered the Shtandart to leave Spanish waters. The frigate was at that time off the coast of La Isla de Arousa. A few days later, the sailboat was allowed into the Spanish port of Vigo.

"Shtandart" is an exact replica of the warship built by Peter I in 1703 for the defense of St. Petersburg.

Massive raid by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian regions

Last night, Ukrainian forces carried out one of the largest launches of drones in eight Russian regions: according to the Russian Defense Ministry, a total of 117 drones and four missiles were intercepted.

– The main blow fell on the Voronezh region, where the first UAVs began to be shot down before midnight. Apparently, the enemy’s main target was the military airfields located in the region – Baltimore and Borisoglebsk. There is currently no objective evidence of damage to the facilities; it is only known about damaged residential buildings, outbuildings and transport in Voronezh and Borisoglebsk.

– In the Nizhny Novgorod region, Ukrainian drones, including the kamikaze UAV "Lyuty", attacked the Kulebaki district - there is the Savasleyka airfield, where MiG-31 fighters are based. After the attack, a section of the P72 "Vladimir - Murom - Arzamas" road was temporarily closed.

– In the Volgograd region, air defense systems were activated in the area of Uryupinsk and Novonikolaevskoye; in the latter, according to several media outlets, the Balashovskaya electrical substation was damaged, but local authorities denied this information.

– In the Kursk region, Russian air defense and electronic warfare systems have disabled drones both in Kursk itself and in border areas. At the same time, enemy UAVs continue to attack cars on highways, preventing both the evacuation and the redeployment of units of the Russian Armed Forces.

– In the Belgorod region, Shebekino was hit by Ukrainian drones, where a residential building and the territory of an agricultural enterprise were damaged. One man was injured – he was taken to a hospital in Belgorod in serious condition with a mine and blast injury.

– Several more drones were intercepted in the Bryansk, Oryol and Rostov regions; according to the latest information, no damage was recorded there.

– Recently, Ukrainian formations have concentrated on strikes against military airfields – a few days ago, an ammunition depot in Lipetsk-2 was hit, and last night three more facilities were attacked, where, according to some reports, there were also consequences.

Frontline report for the morning of 13.08.2024

- Zaporizhzhya Front. No significant changes. Positional battles continue in the Rabotino area and northwest of Verbovoye. There are reports of reserves being moved to this section of the front.

- Donetsk Front. Fighting continues in Konstantinovka, there are advances of the Russian Armed Forces.

In Krasnogorovka, Russian troops are also advancing from the northern side of the settlement, driving the remnants of the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the city.

In Karlovka, there are no significant changes on the ground, but the fighting is very active. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the line in almost every house, so our troops are having a very difficult time advancing.

In Grodovka, the Russian Armed Forces are also advancing in the settlement. In New York and Dzerzhinsk, there are also more tactical successes of the Russian Armed Forces.

- Khar'kov Front. No major changes in the LBS. Fighting continues in Volchansk and Glubokoe. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have significantly reduced the number of counterattacks they undertake in recent days, but the sector remains active.

- Kursk region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine do not abandon attempts to expand the zone of their control, but in all directions they encounter the defense of our troops, which have deployed along the entire LBS line.

Mobile groups of Ukrainian troops from five to 20 people are still active. There are battles in the Korenev area, where the Ukrainians are trying to bypass the settlement.

Counter battles are also taking place in the Kauchuk area. In general, the LBS in the direction is beginning to stabilize and take shape, therefore, in the near future we should expect the Russian Armed Forces to switch from active defense to an offensive.

09:15 Kursk region, Russian X-wingers destroyed a Ukrainian Stryker armored personnel carrier, while the target itself was identified by Severyan reconnaissance personnel — video.

Kursk direction: clearing of Snagosti and attacks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Korenevo area, which is known by the end of August 13, 2024

– The Ukrainian Armed Forces units are carrying out attacks on several sections of the Kursk direction at once with the support of armored vehicles, trying to dislodge the Russian Armed Forces from their positions. Russian troops are pinning down the Ukrainian Armed Forces and striking at enemy armored concentrations, while reinforcements are arriving in the Kursk region.

– In the Korenevsky district, fighting is underway in the Snagost area, which was previously cleared by units of the Russian Armed Forces. The situation in the Korenevo-Tolpinsky area remains stably tense: artillery strikes enemy positions, trying to ease the pressure on Russian units. According to some information, by evening the Ukrainian Armed Forces began another attack on Russian positions on the approaches to Korenevo.

– The situation in the area of the settlements of Obshchy Kolodez and Kauchuk is currently hidden by the "fog of war". There were no reports of the entry of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into these settlements, which allows us to speak of their control by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

– In the Sudzhansky district, Ukrainian formations are also attempting to expand the penetration, as before, using mobile armored groups. In Sudzha, as a result of a fire, the building of the Sudzhansky Agricultural College was seriously damaged. There have been no reports at this time that would allow one of the parties to clearly assert control over Martynovka.

– By the evening, footage appeared that allows us to speak about the confident control of Ukrainian formations over Plekhovo – if earlier only enemy armored vehicles were recorded in this area, then the video that surfaced on the Internet demonstrates the presence of its infantry units on the central street of the settlement.

- In the Belovsky district, the outskirts of Gir'ya and Ozerki are being cleared, where an armored group of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was routed yesterday. The confident control over the outskirts of the populated areas is confirmed by a report from one of the Russian media, filmed at the site of yesterday's battle.

08:05 Telegram channel "Rybar":

Chronicle of the special military operation for August 13, 2024

– Russian troops hit targets in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions on the territory controlled by the Kyiv regime. In turn, Ukrainian formations launched drones in the direction of the Voronezh region.- In the Kursk direction, Ukrainian formations are attempting to expand the zone of penetration in the Kursk region at several sections of the front at once. At the same time, units of the Russian Armed Forces are striking concentrations of personnel and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and are also holding down enemy mobile groups in battle.

– In the Slobozhansky direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an unsuccessful attack in the area of the Kolotilovka checkpoint. The parties are exchanging artillery and UAV strikes; no significant changes in the front line have been recorded over the past day.

– In the Artemovsk direction, Russian units established control over height 215 southwest of Kleshcheyevka, the fighting for which continued throughout the year.

– In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops have liberated the settlements of Ivanovka and Sviridonovka and advanced to the southern outskirts of Novotoretskoye. Fighting is underway on the approaches to Grodovka, where the Russian Armed Forces are expanding their zone of control in the area of the ruins of a brick factory.

– In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces are fighting in Konstantinovka and on the approaches to the T-05-24 highway, which is used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to supply the Ugledar garrison.

16:38 The Armed Forces of Ukraine may open humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from the Kursk region towards the Russian Federation and Ukraine, said Minister for Reintegration Irina Vereshchuk. According to her, humanitarian operations are also planned to support civilians within the Kursk operation zone.

Ukraine is defending itself and the lives of its people in border communities and is taking active action on Russian territory. Our forces strictly comply with the requirements of international conventions and international humanitarian law."

14:53 The Russian Defense Ministry stated that Russian military in the Kursk region allegedly prevented attempts by mobile groups of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through in the areas of Skrylevka, Levshinka, Semenovka, Alekseevsky, and Kamyshny.

14:11 Russian troops have begun digging trenches in the Lgov area of the Kursk region, located almost 50 km from the border, OSINTtechnical reports, citing satellite images. Fresh trenches are visible in images from several areas of the Kursk region at once. They appeared 1.5 km south of Lgov (near the Lgov-Sudzha highway), along the railway near the village of Viktorovka (4 km southwest of Lgov), at the crossroads of the Selikhovy Dory-Ivanino and Dyakonovo-Sudzha roads, and near the village of Druzhnaya (25 km east of Lgov). The farthest point is near Kursk, 75 km from the border.

12:03 A TSN correspondent got to Kursk Oblast and reported live on the results of the work of the Ukrainian Armed Forces:

11:09 Ukrainian military showed a video from the village of Plekhovo in the Kursk region, which, according to them, came under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

10:31 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) writes that Russia has withdrawn several units from the Kharkov direction and sent them to the Kursk region. In particular, these are Akhmat fighters, several marine brigades and two airborne battalions located near Vovchansk. Such actions indicate that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' raid into the Kursk region has provoked a forced regrouping of Russian forces, analysts state.

09:42 Russian publics write that three more villages in the Kursk region have come under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces: Ukrainian troops have entered Olgovka, Malaya Loknya and Kruglenke.

02:35 Biden commented for the first time on the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region: "This creates a real dilemma for Putin. We are in direct, constant contact with the Ukrainians. That's all I'm going to say about this while this is all in the active phase."

Memorial plaque to repressed Chechens and Ingush smashed on Solovki
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel Memorial stones to prisoners of the Solovetsky special purpose camp, including repressed Chechens and Ingush, were damaged.

Activists who brought flowers to the Alley of Memory on Solovki, a park with memorial stones to prisoners of the Solovetsky Special Purpose Camp, discovered destroyed and damaged monuments - a monument to Chechens and Ingush was smashed, a plaque was removed from a monument to Ukrainians, the Memorial Society (recognized as a foreign agent) reported today on its page on the social network VKontakte.

As follows from the photos attached to the publication, the plaque is broken. "To the innocently killed Vainakhs, Chechens and Ingush," is written on it. The plaque lies on one of the stones.

In his book "Hellish Islands", Ingush activist Sozerko Malsagov mentioned elderly Chechens exiled to Solovki.

"Shortly before my arrival in Solovki, the GPU of the Transcaucasian Soviet Republic sent forty very old Chechens there. One of them looked out of the window, which was forbidden by some Chekists. This was the basis for this entire group to be sent to Sekirnaya Mountain, known in Solovki as a place of torture, put in a "stone bag" and flogged with "Smolensk sticks" until they lost consciousness. One of the old men was 110 years old. The old Chechens were sent as hostages because of their sons, grandsons and great-grandsons, who joined the partisan detachments and waged an incessant war against the Bolsheviks.

The hostages themselves had not committed any crime. The practice of taking hostages and carrying out cruel repressions against relatives and even against familiar rebels and emigrants was developed by the Soviet authorities into a complex system of terror, which does not disdain anything to achieve its goal - "absolute submission of the entire Russian people to the will of the leaders of the Communist Party," says the book, published on the website "Memories of the Gulag and Their Authors."
Reference is to the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, not the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, a subtle but clear difference.
As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, in 2006 the authorities reported that there were officially more than 173 thousand victims of political repression in Chechnya, including victims of deportation and repression in the 1940s and 1950s. The deportation of Chechens and Ingush people led to territorial conflicts, wars and broken families, the Norwegian Helsinki Committee noted in an article dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the deportation.

This year marks 80 years since Operation Lentil, during which nearly 500,000 Chechens and Ingush were deported en masse from the territory of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR to Kazakhstan and Central Asia. More details about these events and their consequences can be found in the "Caucasian Knot" reference material "Deportation of Chechens and Ingush".

The reasons for the deportation were given as mass desertion and preparation of an armed uprising in the Soviet rear, although the territory of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR was practically not under occupation, and by February 1944 the Wehrmacht had already been thrown back hundreds of kilometers from the Caucasus. According to historians, mass arrests, deportations and executions based on nationality were widely practiced under Stalin, which is confirmed by numerous documentary evidence, as stated in the "Caucasian Knot" reference " 10 myths about Stalin's role in the Great Patriotic War".

Analysts assess combat training of Chechen Akhmat special forces and Akhmat-Chechnya unit
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] The combined battalion "Akhmat", commanded by Apti Alaudinov, is staffed with fighters from different regions, including volunteers and former "Wagnerites", military experts noted. The "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit, from which Alaudinov reported the capture of five fighters, is staffed by Chechens who were not prepared to participate in battles and are engaged in maintaining order, the Caucasus expert emphasized.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot", three signalmen and two riflemen of the "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit were captured in the Kursk region, the commander of the "Akhmat" special forces, Apti Alaudinov, said on August 13. He emphasized that the fighters captured were from the "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit, not the "Akhmat" special forces, and added that for a Chechen there is nothing more shameful than captivity. The day before, he called the reports of mass surrender of Chechen fighters "enemy propaganda".

Military expert Alexander Khramchikhin reported that different units with the name "Akhmat" may differ in their level of training. "It is difficult to say who reports to whom and how. But it is obvious that they differ in their level of military training. Since 2022, "Akhmat" units have been formed from representatives of all regions of Russia," Khramchikhin told a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Military expert Vasily Dandykin emphasized that various units under the name "Akhmat" are staffed, in particular, by volunteers. "Volunteers from all regions of Russia serve in some units. But it was stated that not all those who wanted to could be provided with proper military training," he noted.

Political scientist Ruslan Kutayev specified that the Akhmat water battalion, which Alaudinov commands, the so-called "Isa Army", is made up of Chechens to a lesser extent. This battalion belongs to the Russian Defense Ministry.

"Along with this, there is the Akhmat unit. Only Chechens serve there. And they are not intended to participate in combat operations with regular troops. The guys who were captured are from it. In the Kursk region, they performed functions close to the police. Unlike the police, they do not have the right to investigative activities. Their task is to monitor order, so that there are no rallies or riots," Kutayev explained.

Kutayev indicated that according to the information he has, "the combined battalion "Akhmat" is directly involved in military operations, on the front line. They have both assault aircraft and special forces. There are also former fighters of the PMC "Wagner". According to my information, there are 1% Chechens in this battalion," Kutayev said.

Kutayev added that it is difficult to predict the logic of the Chechen authorities’ behavior towards prisoners after their release.

"Caucasian Knot" wrote that on April 15, 2023, the head of Chechnya  Ramzan Kadyrov reported that five Chechen fighters had returned to Grozny from Ukrainian captivity. He did not meet with them and criticized them. Human rights activists and orientalists interviewed by "Caucasian Knot" noted that captivity  was not considered  something shameful or unacceptable in the Caucasus, and that adats do not regulate behavior in a war zone, since they apply only to people's everyday lives.

On June 15 of the same year, it became known that five fighters of the Sever-Akhmat regiment, who had been previously released from Ukrainian captivity, were returned to the zone of the special military operation. They stated that they were ready to carry out any order.

WHO Declares Mpox Outbreak in Africa a Global Health Emergency
[Epoch Times] The World Health Organization on Aug. 14 declared the outbreak of mpox in Africa a public health emergency of international concern, due to the increase in cases and deaths in recent months.

A public health emergency of international concern, or global health emergency, is the highest level of alarm the WHO can convey. It’s declared for extraordinary events deemed to constitute a public health risk to countries through the international spread of disease.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director-general of the UN’s WHO, announced the declaration in Geneva, accepting a recommendation from WHO’s emergency committee.

Tedros said there’s already been more than 14,000 reported cases, and 524 reported deaths in Africa this year, a jump from last year. He also pointed to the emergence of a new mpox strain, or clade, which he described as worrying.

Formerly known as monkeypox, mpox is a virus that occurs in animals and humans. Mpox can spread between people and causes an illness that typically manifests with a rash and resolves in a few weeks. But some cases can lead to death.

Mpox typically spreads between men who have sex with other men.

The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? Abdel Hadi pointed out that Hamas has not received assurances that ''Israel'' would commit to negotiating based on a previous proposal dating back to July 2.

Arabia
Mohammed bin Salman 'at risk of assassination' over Israel-Saudi normalisation
[Geo.TV] A report published in US-based news publication Politico has claimed that the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

...Crown Prince and modernizer of Saudi Arabia as of 2016. The Turks hate him, so he must be all right, despite the occasional brutal murder of Qatar-owned journalists...
(MBS) is at risk of liquidation because of his push for normalisation of ties with Israel.

The report said the Saudi crown prince told members of US Congress that he was putting his life in danger by pursuing a grand bargain with the US and Israel that includes normalising Saudi-Israeli ties.

According to Politico, MBS, referencing the slain Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat — who was assassinated after making a peace deal with Israel — questioned, "What did the US do to protect him?"

He also opened up about the threats he is facing in explaining why any such deal should include a true path to a Paleostinian state, especially as the Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
war has now intensified Arab fury against Israel.

The report said the discussion with MBS was revealed to Politico's correspondent by a former US official briefed on the conversations and two other people with knowledge of them.

Despite the risks, the crown prince is willing to pursue the mega-deal with the US and Israel, viewing it as crucial to his country's future, according to the report.

However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the report adds that the Israeli government has been unwilling to incorporate a credible path to a Paleostinian state in the agreement.

More than 200 prisoners evacuated from south and Dahieh amid wider war concerns
Lebanese authorities have evacuated prisoners from cop shoppes in Beirut's southern suburbs and southern Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...

The officials say about 220 prisoners were moved. It comes amid concerns that the ongoing exchange of cross-border fire between Israeli troops and members of the Lebanon-based Death Eater Hezbollah group might expand after Israel killed a top Hezbollah official last month. Hezbollah has vowed to retaliate.

If all-out war breaks out, many fear that Beirut's southern suburbs and south Lebanon, where Hezbollah has a wide presence, could face intense Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...

#3  Amazon: The old rules are over. The old order is over. Accusations are evidence. Activism means bigotry and hate. Criminals are allowed to roam free. Citizens are locked up. An appetite for vengeance is unleashed—to deplatform, debank, destroy. This is the daily news, yet none of it’s new. Patterns from the past make sense of our present. They also foretell a terrifying future we might be condemned to endure.

For nearly 250 years, far-left uprisings have followed the same battle plans—from the first call for change to last innocent executed, from denial a revolution is even happening to declaration of the new order. Unhumans takes readers on a shocking, sweeping, and succinct journey through history to share the untold stories of radical takeovers that textbooks don’t teach.

And there is one conclusion: We're in a new revolution right now.

But this is not a book about ideology or politics. Unhumans reveals that communism, socialism, Marxism, and all other radical-isms are not philosophies but tactics—tactics that are specifically designed to unleash terror on everyday people and revoke their human rights to life, liberty, and property. These are the forces of unhumanity. This is what they do. Every. Single. Time. Unhumans steals their playbook, breaks apart their strategies piece by piece, and lays out the tactics of what it takes to fight back—and win, using real-world examples.

Natural Gas Is Now Cheaper than Water
[Creators] Among the great mythologies of recent years, one stands out above the rest, is that the world is in a "great energy transition." Actually, the world IS in a dramatic energy transition. But it isn't the one the Left wants it to be.

Despite hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars thrown at wind and solar power, we still get less than 10% of our energy from green sources. The needle really hasn't moved at all over the past two decades. The more the government spends, the less we get per taxpayer dollar thrown at it. That's the very definition of a falling stock.

The REAL energy transition is toward natural gas. A few weeks ago, the price of natural gas fell below $2 per MMBTU, the lowest price level for energy, after adjusting for inflation, in 20 years and probably ever in the history of mankind. Just a few years ago, the price in real dollars was four times higher.

As an experiment, I went to the grocery store to find out what a 16-ounce bottle of Evian water now sells at. The price I saw was $2.69 and can go as high as $3. This means natural gas is now less expensive than water.

This natural gas revolution has happened because of modern drilling technologies — including horizontal drilling and fracking. That technology keeps getting better and better and will continue to keep the price low for many decades to come. The pace of drilling technology improvement far outpaces the pace of depletion. In other words, for all intents and purposes, America's natural gas supplies are limitless — a bottomless well.

Meanwhile, natural gas has all the attributes of a wonder fuel. It is abundant, made in America, clean-burning (using natural gas REDUCES carbon emissions), reliable and cheap. The United States has at least 200 years' worth of natural gas supply — and probably far more than that. We aren't running out. Chris Wright, CEO of Liberty Energy in Denver and one of the leading experts on drilling technologies, says "we keep finding more natural gas as the drilling technologies get better."

Mystery 'undocumented' passenger was aboard Brazilian plane crash
From a lede by 3dc
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A mysterious unaccounted-for passenger was aboard the Brazilian plane that crashed in a 'death spiral' and killed 62 people, is has been revealed. The plane, operated by regional carrier Voepass, crashed on Friday in a residential area near Sao Paulo, Brazil , killing all passengers and crew members aboard. On Friday Voepass said the plane was carrying 57 passengers and four crew, but on Saturday the firm confirmed another unaccounted-for passenger had been on the flight, putting the number of casualties at 62 - it is unclear whether this additional passenger was simply missed off the manifest or whether they snuck on board.

For now, the cause of the crash remains unknown. Metsul, one of Brazil's most respected meteorological companies, said Friday that there were reports of severe icing in Sao Paulo state around the time of the crash. Local media cited experts pointing to that as a potential cause, although others cautioned against jumping to a conclusion, urging to wait for the outcome of the official investigation. Both the plane's 'black boxes' - one with flight data and the other with cockpit audio - were recovered. The air force's center for the investigation and prevention of air accidents began analyzing them at its laboratory in the nation's capital, Brasilia.

Airports Minister Silvio Costa Filho said the center was also opening a criminal probe. The airline Voepass and the French-Italian ATR manufacturer are assisting investigations, they said in statements. The crashed plane was bound for Sao Paulo from Cascavel, in the state of Parana, and crashed at around 1.30pm (1630 GMT) in Vinhedo, some 50 miles northwest of Sao Paulo. The aircraft was flying normally until 1.21pm, when it stopped responding to calls, and radar contact was lost at 1.22pm, Brazil's air force said in a statement. The plane did not report any emergency. Videos of the event show that the sky was apparently clear when the plane started spiraling in an unusual circling motion before crashing.

Embattled Columbia president Minouche Shafik resigns months after anti-Israel student protests: report
[NY Post] Cleaning out the stables
Columbia University president Minouche Shafik has resigned from the elite institution, according to a report.

Shafik is stepping away after just one year at the helm, which was marked by constant — and sometimes destructive — anti-Israel protests, the Free Beacon reported.

The embattled president had been facing mounting calls to resign for months over her handling of the protests, which broke out following Hamas’ Oct. 7 invasion of Israel.

She was accused of “gross negligence” while testifying before Congress after refusing to say whether the phrase “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” should be considered antisemitic.

Critics claimed Shafik was not sufficiently cracking down on campus protests until the tent encampments took over the Ivy League school’s lawn in the weeks leading up to graduation.

Hundreds of students were arrested on trespassing charges for refusing to pack up, but the demonstrations escalated when a destructive mob illegally took over the Hamilton Hall academic building in April.

Shafik’s resignation comes just one week after three university deans resigned from Columbia following the exposure of their “very troubling” text chain that disparaged Israeli and Jewish students’ fears of rising anti-Semitism on campus.

Susan Chang-Kim, Matthew Patashnick and Cristen Kromm messaged vomit emojis and accused Jewish students of asserting “privilege” during a panel discussion the month prior about antisemitism on campus stoked by Israel’s war against Hamas.

Shafik’s departure comes just three weeks before the start of the fall semester.

US military destroys two Houthi vessels in the Red Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Over the course of 24 hours, American military personnel struck two vessels of rebels from the Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) in the Red Sea.

"Over the past 24 hours, US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces destroyed two Iranian-backed Houthi vessels in the Red Sea," the command said on social media.
Good. More, please.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, one of the ships was attacked off the coast of the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, the Royal Navy's Maritime Trade Coordination Centre reported on August 12. According to official information, the incident occurred 63 nautical miles, or about 116.6 km, southwest of Hodeidah.

Another attack on a British vessel took place on August 3. The attack took place 170 nautical miles southwest of Aden in Yemen.

Since autumn 2023, the Houthis have been attacking ships linked to Israel and its allies amid the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East. They have threatened to prevent them from passing through the Red Sea until the operation in the Palestinian enclave is stopped.

In January 2024, the US and UK began retaliatory strikes against Yemeni rebel positions.

in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday while Hamas said its fighters were engaged in fierce festivities with Israeli forces in the territory's Tubas city.

The official Paleostinian news agency WAFA reported that one man was killed in a raid in Tubas, while four others were killed in an Israeli dronezap in the nearby town of Tammun.

It did not give their identities, but Tubas residents said the man killed there was as a member of the Hamas.

DOJ Considers Breaking Up Google Following Landmark Antitrust Ruling
[BREITBART] In the wake of a recent court decision that found Google guilty of illegally monopolizing the online search market, the DOJ is weighing options to restore competition, including a potential breakup of the tech giant.

Bloomberg reports that the DOJ is deliberating on the possibility of breaking up Google following a landmark court ruling that found the company guilty of illegally monopolizing the online search and search text advertising markets. This marks the first time since the unsuccessful efforts to break up Microsoft two decades ago that Washington has considered dismantling a company for illegal monopolization.

According to people with knowledge of the deliberations, the Justice Department is also exploring less severe options, such as requiring Google to share more data with competitors and implementing measures to prevent the company from gaining an unfair advantage in AI products. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the government is likely to seek a ban on the type of exclusive contracts that were central to its case against Google, regardless of the chosen course of action.

If the DOJ decides to pursue a breakup plan, the Android operating system and Google’s web browser, Chrome, are the most likely candidates for divestment. Officials are also considering the possibility of forcing a sale of AdWords, the platform used by the company to sell text advertising.

The Justice Department’s discussions have intensified following Judge Amit Mehta’s August 5 ruling, which found that Google illegally monopolized the markets of online search and search text ads. Google has stated its intention to appeal the decision, but Mehta has ordered both parties to begin planning for the second phase of the case, which will involve the government’s proposals for restoring competition, potentially including a breakup request.

The government’s plan will need to be accepted by Mehta, who would then direct the company to comply. A forced breakup of Google would be the most significant dismantling of a U.S. company since the breakup of AT&T in the 1980s.

China-Japan-Koreas
First Biden, now Kishida: Scandal-plagued Japanese prime minister stepping down
[JustTheNews] Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stunned his country Wednesday by announcing he is stepping down after just three years, bowing to voter frustration over rising inflation and political scandals that tarnished Japan’s long-ruling Liberal Democratic Party.

“Politics cannot function without public trust,” Kishida told a news conference.

“We need to clearly show an LDP reborn,” added. “In order to show a changing LDP, the most obvious first step is for me to bow out.”

Kishida’s approval had dipped below 20% and his decision not to run in the September party leadership vote clears the way for Japan to have a new prime minister for his party to reboot after a series of ethics scandals.

The departure came just a month after American President Joe Biden also dropped from the presidential race after securing enough votes for the Democratic nomination, open the door for Vice President Kamala Harris to run in the fall

Most Commonly Reported Index of US Inflation Slows to 2.9 Percent
[Epoch Times] The U.S. annual inflation rate slowed for the fourth consecutive month in July and came in below market forecasts, raising the odds of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates in September.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the consumer price index (CPI) eased to 2.9 percent last month, down from 3 percent in June. The consensus estimate was 3 percent.

On a monthly basis, the CPI rose 0.2 percent, up from the 0.1 percent decline in the previous month. This was in line with market expectations.

Core inflation, which omits the volatile food and energy categories, also slipped to 3.2 percent last month, down from 3.3 percent. The reading matched market estimates.
cuz nobody needs food or energy?
The core CPI jumped 0.2 percent month-over-month, up from 0.1 percent and mirroring economists’ estimates.

Shelter was the primary driver of inflation last month as it has remained stubbornly high, despite expectations that this part of the CPI data would ease by now.

Motor vehicle insurance, which has rocketed in 2024, was another contributor to inflation last month, surging 1.2 percent monthly. On a 12-month basis, this CPI component has surged 18.6 percent.
A recent influx of uninsured motorists, perhaps?
The New York Fed’s July Survey of Consumer Expectations (SCE) showed that the one-year inflation outlook was unchanged at 3 percent. The median three-year-ahead inflation expectations fell sharply by 0.6 percent to a record low of 2.7 percent. The five-year inflation outlook was unchanged at 2.8 percent.

Europe
German arrest warrant over Nord Stream blast mystery
[BBC] German state prosecutors trying to solve the mystery of who blew up the Nord Stream gas pipelines under the Baltic Sea in 2022 have issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian diving instructor.

The suspect has been named as Volodymyr Z by German media, who have treated the sabotage like a sensational true crime drama.

Ines Peterson, a spokeswoman for Germany’s prosecutor general, declined to confirm the arrest warrant, telling the BBC that her office never commented so as not to jeopardise the investigation by giving the suspect a chance to escape.

But the Polish prosecutor general's spokeswoman, Anna Adamiak, in Warsaw told the BBC's Adam Easton that a European Arrest Warrant had indeed been passed to them by German prosecutors.

When Polish officers went to Volodymyr Z’s home in early July, he had already left the country for Ukraine, she said.

He had until then been living in a quiet residential area of Pruszków, a town near Warsaw, German media say.

According to an investigation by three German media outlets, including public broadcaster ARD, Volodymyr Z was part of a team of experienced Ukrainian divers who in September 2022 hired a German yacht, sailed out into the Baltic Sea and planted the explosives, blowing up three of the four Nord Stream pipelines.

A Ukrainian man and a Ukrainian woman are also suspected of involvement.

If the latest media reports are true, that a group of Ukrainian divers blew up the pipelines, it still doesn’t answer the broader question of who ordered the attack.

There is so far no public evidence linking it to the Ukrainian or Russian state or for that matter any other country or individual group.

For years there have been conspiracy theories around the attack, with unconfirmed rumours that governments in Kyiv, Moscow or Washington were behind the attack.

There has also been speculation that Ukrainian or Russian military groups, acting without the knowledge of the Ukrainian government, might have been responsible.
Underwater drone footage of the damage to the Nord Stream pipeline

The Nord Stream pipelines carried gas from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea and were a controversial and unpopular symbol of European energy dependence on Moscow. In other words it’s easy to imagine motives for such an attack.

For years Eastern Europeans warned Berlin that this dependence on Russian gas made Europe vulnerable.

But successive German governments, from Gerhard Schröder’s left-wing coalition to Angela Merkel’s conservative-led administrations, argued that binding Russia to Europe with energy and trade links would help both countries economically and ensure peace.

Russia’s full invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 destroyed that hope and mainstream politicians across the political spectrum in Germany have now admitted they were wrong.

8-year-old girl beats robber with baseball bat at Minnesota liquor store
[NY Post] A brave 8-year-old girl managed to help thwart a robbery at her father's Minnesota liquor store after she repeatedly beat the alleged Amazon worker perp with a baseball bat, surveillance video shows. The little girl took on the alleged would-be robber — since identified as Conchobhar Morrell, 37 — after he entered Big Discount Liquors store in Maplewood at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday and pulled out what appeared to be a handgun.

''He put the gun on the table, he asked me to give him all the money and everything in the register, I told him, ‘Yes — I'll give you everything,''' the girl's dad, only identified as Leo, told CBS News.

As the store clerk was scrambling to retrieve the cash, the suspect — who was wearing an Amazon uniform — allegedly tried to storm behind the counter where the youngster was standing.

Surveillance video captured the dad quickly punching Morrell and wrestling him to floor before the girl stepped up to help.

She could be seen arming herself with the bat and repeatedly striking the suspect as her father tried to pin Morrell down, the clip shows.

The shocked father said he wasn't even aware his daughter had stepped in until he played back the surveillance footage in the aftermath.

''I'm so proud of her, she's so strong,'' the clerk said.

''That day, I just wanted to cry. When I saw the video, I didn't expect she'd do that. I expect a little girl crying, screaming.''

Morrell ended up fleeing the store just moments later but was nabbed nearby, cops said.

He was charged with first-degree attempted aggravated robbery over the ordeal.

The apparent firearm he initially brandished ended up being a BB gun, according to police.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pound, the little lost dog backed into the corner and showed its teeth. And what big teeth they were!...
an Amazon spokesperson said Morrell had been working as a delivery associate for a third-party service.

He will be ''immediately offboarded'' in the wake of his arrest, the rep said.

Morrell is being held in jug ahead of his initial court hearing on Friday.

Beloved dad shot dead by neighbor after daughter 'touched mulch'
A father of two maiden of tender yearss was allegedly rubbed out by a neighbor who angrily confronted him after his daughter ''touched the mulch'' in his yard while the family was on a walk in their suburban Michigan neighborhood.

Nathan Morris, 35, was on a walk with his wife and daughters, ages 2 and 5, near their home in Canton just before noon Saturday when police say their neighbor Deveraux Christopher Johnson, 47, confronted him and the two got into an argument, Fox 2 bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
reported.

Johnson was reportedly upset that Morris' daughter ''touched the mulch'' on his property, the Michigan GOP wrote about Morris, a party member involved in local politics.

''The neighbor took a gun out and started threatening the family,'' the post alleged.

''Nathan sent his family home and said that he would try and [defuse] the situation, but instead was shot and killed.''

Johnson fired multiple times, killing Morris, who was unarmed, prosecutors said.

When Canton coppers arrived, they discovered Morris with a gunshot wound in the street while the suspect had barricaded himself inside his home.

Morris was taken to a hospital, where he later died, police said.

After several orders to surrender, Johnson came out of his house repeatedly saying, ''Praise to God Almighty'' and was taken into custody. He was charged with first-degree murder and other felonies.

Morris, who worked at Ford as an engineer, recently got into politics and was affiliated with the Michigan GOP in Wayne.

''Nathan is one of those few guys who are near perfect. He would do no harm and think no harm. He is just an amazing and gentle soul. He will be missed dearly,'' the Michigan GOP wrote in their statement.

Morris also recently ran for school board in their town and was remembered for his ''can-do spirit and strong focus on the work and responsibilities,'' according to a fundraiser set up for his family.

Johnson, who lived in the neighborhood for 12 years, had on multiple occasions assaulted neighbors, as well as coppers, officials told Fox.

He also has criminal sexual conduct charges from the 1990s.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf and he is being held without bond.

The prosecutor's office is asking for a competency hearing for Johnson, who is set to appear in court next on Aug. 23.

Predators try to abduct children in two separate Dallas incidents
[DM] The incidents, the first of which happened in Richardson, both occurred on Monday with the other happening in Dallas.

In Richardson, a young girl had been to her high school when she noticed a stranger driving past her several times and staring her down.

Freaked out, the unknown girl made a dash for a property near the road and found a hiding place.

Homeowner Shane Burke caught the young girl on his surveillance camera hiding behind his vehicle to get away from the vehicle before appearing at his door.

Speaking with NBCDFW, Burke said he was grateful to have been working at his home on Monday morning.

He told the outlet: 'She initially hid behind our car to see if he was coming back and sure enough, here he came really slow, and again, she was really smart.

'She did all the right things. When I opened the door, she started explaining that someone has been following her. She was really shaky.'

He continued: 'She didn’t say, "I don’t think he was saying anything", she said, "he keeps going by real slow back and forth on the street and staring at me, and I’m not comfortable," which is right.'

Burke's wife gave the young girl a ride to the school while he contacted police who responded to the scene.

He added: 'I don’t know what this guy’s motive was or what he was up to, but she said she didn’t know him.

'He wasn’t an ex-boyfriend, or a family member, or anything so whatever. This is serious. This was a close call. Fortunately, she did all the right things.'

The suspect vehicle is a black or dark blue 2014-2016 4-door Toyota Corolla S, according to RPD spokesman Officer Mike Wieczorek.

The only physical description police has is the man is bald, between 20 and 30 years old, dark-skinned, and possibly Latino.

Hours after the incident in Richardson, police in Dallas responded to an attempted abduction in the far north of the city.

Genna Skolnik said her sons had their friends over as a back-to-school playdate, telling them to stay together and never separate.

Home surveillance footage then captured two vehicles pulling up alongside the boys, which includes a white SUV described by cops a Toyota Four Runner.

According to the youths, the men inside one of the car was telling them come 'check out our car', spooking one of them who suggested the group all run.

In the horrifying clip a man can be seen leaving the vehicle and making a run at her son Jay who quickly runs back to his house, before the man runs back to his car.

Speaking with the outlet, Skolnik said: 'All of the sudden I hear the door fly open and I hear: Jay’s being kidnapped Jay’s being kidnapped.

'The guys in the car were telling them: "hey, come talk to us check out our car." One of the boys was totally spooked and said "we need to run".'

She continued: 'They were calling to my son saying: "Hey, we have a football player in the car like you should come talk to him".'

'My son said: "I don’t talk to strangers!" and they reversed the car and Jonathan started running.'

Skolnik managed to take a picture of one of the vehicle's license plate numbers

Incredibly, a passenger in a white t-shirt and shorts is then seen getting out of the SUV and running after her son before turning back after noticing the adult with a cell phone in her hand.

Skolnik managed to snap a picture of the vehicle’s license plate number, with Dallas Police now investigating the incident.

Dallas and Richardson police told NBC 5 that there are no indications the cases involve the same suspects or are related.

Cyber
Terrifying new cyber hack that can bring down passenger planes
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] GPS Spoofing can push planes off their flight paths and confuse the autopilot’s landing feature, causing them to potentially miss the designated tarmac.

Cybersecurity experts have issued a warning about a surge in GPS spoofing attacks that have risen 400 percent since the first quarter of this year.

They are also becoming more common in warzones, with areas like Ukraine, Russia and the Middle East becoming hotspots.

Experts don't yet know the official reason why hackers are now employing GPS spoofing, but it can be used to alter location data and allow them to monitor people's activities and endanger flights.

GPS spoofing attacks raise the potential that flights could crash by installing ransomware that could veer the aircraft off course and send them careening into other aircraft, terrain or the ocean.

The attacks are becoming more common, but experts are still unsure why and a group has been set up to investigate the incidents and determine who is overriding the plane's GPS systems and why.

A newly published report by the cybersecurity company OPS Group revealed that GPS spoofing attacks worldwide skyrocketed from an average of 200 per day from January to March to 900 daily since April.

They reported that spoofing attacks targeted as many as 1,350 flights on some days.

Hackers transmit counterfeit radio signals to the airline’s receiver antennas to override legitimate GPS signals and send false alerts to the plane’s localization systems that are meant to keep the aircraft away from rough terrain.

Pilots have reportedly noticed that one of the first indicators that a hacker has employed GPS spoofing is when the aircraft clock begins to run backward.

‘We think too much about GPS being a source of position, but it's actually a source of time,’ Ken Munro, founder of cybersecurity firm Pen Test Partners, said during a presentation at the DEF CON hacking convention in Las Vegas on Saturday.

‘We're starting to see reports of the clocks on board airplanes during spoofing events start to do weird things.’

He later told Reuters that ‘an aircraft operated by a major Western airline had its onboard clocks suddenly sent forward by years, causing the plane to lose access to its digitally encrypted communication systems.’

In April, Finnair was forced to temporarily pause all flights to Tartu in Estonia due to GPS spoofing, which the airline blamed on Russian hackers.

‘Is it going to make a plane crash? No, it's not,’ Munro told Reuters.

‘What it does is it just creates a little confusion. And you run the risk of starting what we call a cascade of events, where something minor happens, something else minor happens, and then something serious happens.’

However, experts reported that there has been an uptick in incidents near war zones - particularly in the Middle East and around Ukraine and Russia.

Stuart Fox, director of flight and technical operations at the International Air Transport Association told The Wall Street Journal in February that the incidents are raising concerns about cybersecurity risks, although they haven’t caused any major safety issues yet.

‘For the longer term, we need to ensure we are involved in the design of future satellite navigation systems. Countering this risk is a priority for the Agency,’ the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said in January.

These issues have still largely remained unaddressed, but a GPS spoofing workgroup consisting of 450 registered participants has been put together to address the problem, OPS Group reported.

The participants include representatives across industry organizations and airlines including United Airlines, American Airlines, Aer Lingus, Turkish Airlines and Alaska Airlines.

NASA, Boeing, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and FlightSafety Internation are also involved in the workgroup.

The more computerized planes become, it is only a matter of time before it is abused by some maniac, wanting to make a political point.

BTW: The hacker could even be a 9-11 type with a GPS controller encased in a Laptop, and on the plane.

Fifth Column
Federal Judge Orders UCLA to Stop Aiding Activists Enforcing Jew-Free Zones on Campus | National Review
[NationalReview] A Los Angeles federal district court ordered the University of Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,, Los Angeles, to stop allowing and assisting in self-described pro-Paleostinian activists' creation of what amount to Jew-free zones on campus, holding that the university may not offer classes if Jewish students are prohibited from participating in the programming.

Those who occupied encampments on the university's property disallowed Jews from passing through the quad unless they would disavow Israel and, by extension, their Jewish faith. UCLA's position had been that the encampments preventing Jewish students from accessing certain areas of campus were not its responsibility.

Despite that contention, the university erected metal barriers around the encampment and directed Jewish students to leave, according to a lawsuit.

''In the year 2024, in the United States of America, in the State of California, Jewish students were excluded from portions of the UCLA campus because they refused to denounce their faith,'' Judge Mark C. Scarsi wrote on Tuesday. ''This fact is so unimaginable and so abhorrent to our constitutional guarantee of freedom that it bears repeating, Jewish students were excluded from portions of the UCLA campus because they refused to denounce their faith. UCLA does not dispute this. Instead, UCLA claims that it has no responsibility to protect the religious freedom of its Jewish students because the exclusion was engineered by third-party protesters. But under constitutional principles, UCLA may not allow services to some students when UCLA knows that other students are excluded on religious grounds, regardless of who engineered the exclusion.''

While many lawsuits filed against universities have dealt with civil-rights issues, Scarsi's UCLA ruling mentions the Free Exercise Clause of the First

''Here, UCLA made available certain of its programs, activities, and campus areas when certain students, including Plaintiffs, were excluded because of their genuinely held religious beliefs,'' Scarsi wrote. He added that the plaintiffs had ''put forward a colorable claim that UCLA's acts violated their Free Exercise Clause rights.''

Scarsi noted in his ruling that the encampment on Royce Quad, which began on April 25, blocked access to several major campus buildings, including classrooms and a library.

Organizers of the encampment established checkpoints at which those who opposed the continued existence of Israel were given wristbands and allowed entry. Those who did not support the destruction of the Jewish state could not pass through.

Given that support for Israel’s existence is a core tenet of Jewish religious belief, the practice amounted to prohibiting Jews from entering campus buildings.

One plaintiff, a Jewish UCLA student, told the court he was unable to access the library "because he understood that traversing the encampment, which blocked entrance to the library, carried a risk of violence." Another said she "decided not to traverse Royce Quad because of her knowledge that she would have to disavow her religious beliefs to do so."

UCLA argued that the plaintiffs lacked standing because they could not demonstrate a likelihood that this would happen again. Scarsi, addressing that claim, wrote that it is "well settled that evidence of past instances of enforcement is important in a standing inquiry." He also noted that, despite the university’s creation of a campus safety office, the fact that students violated UCLA’s protest rules three more times since the school changed policies is evidence enough that it may happen again.

The university’s administrators, Scarsi wrote, "are prohibited from offering any ordinarily available programs, activities, or campus areas to students if Defendants know the ordinarily available programs, activities, and campus areas are not fully and equally accessible to Jewish students."

Becket Fund president Mark Rienzi, whose organization filed the suit alongside Clement & Murphy PLLC, said in a statement that the ruling — which represents the first injunction against an American university over an encampment — is a step toward ensuring Jews, like all Americans, have their constitutional rights protected.

"Shame on UCLA for letting antisemitic thugs terrorize Jews on campus," Rienzi said. "Today’s ruling says that UCLA’s policy of helping antisemitic activists target Jews is not just morally wrong but a gross constitutional violation. UCLA should stop fighting the Constitution and start protecting Jews on campus."
