Massive Revision to U.S. Employment Numbers Expected on Wednesday- revision will likely fuel additional concerns that the BLS and other agencies under Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have essentially ‘cooked the books'.
[NationalPulse] The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is expected to issue a major revision to employment numbers on Wednesday. The agency is set to announce its preliminary benchmark revision to the 2024 establishment survey. Some preliminary estimates and indicators suggest the agency could announce a downward revision of around one million jobs between April 2023 and March 2024.

Monday Morning DNC Opening Kunstler Commentary
Looking a little insurrection-ish at Chicago’s United Center all of a sudden as Illinois Governor Jabba the Pritzker orders a wall built around the perimeter to protect the Democratic Party from its very own basket of deplorables — the pro-Hamas, Antifa / BLM nose-ring-for-lunch bunch — with the state’s National Guard “on standby.” The New York Post and other news sources report 100,000 anti-Israel protesters migrating there to liven-up a convention that also has the potential to go off-script inside the arena — since the script was written by a handful of party mandarins, with the gamed consent of the convened delegates, who might be a little ticked off about the deal.

What the party needs most this week is a plausible aura that it is firmly in control of events, having pulled off coup-after-coup on its own rank-and-file. Most recently, Pelosi & friends passed the black spot to “Joe Biden.” (The easy way or the hard way.) He took the hint and dropped out. But then, how exactly did Veep Kamala get plugged into his slot? Five minutes prior, they were, like, yccchhhh, her? And then, two seconds later, somebody arranged a pre-convention Zoom call “virtual vote” of the delegates — like a Las Vegas David Copperfield magic trick — followed by “certification!” (By whom? Answer: the certifiers.) Badda bing, badda bang! Their “democracy” got rolled.
Pre-convention thoughts, including reflections on what he saw in Chicago in 1968. Apparently the RFK assassination put a sudden end to the antiwar movement RFK fronted.

Multiple Stabbing in Manchester Leaves One Woman Dead, Two Others with Life-Threatening Injuries
[Breitbart] 48 hr rule
A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a multiple stabbing incident in Manchester left a woman dead and two others seriously injured late Sunday evening.

A 43-year-old woman died, and a 17-year-old girl and a 64-year-old man have been hospitalised with "life-threatening injuries" after they suffered "serious stab wounds" during an incident at a property in the Gorton area of Manchester, England.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the stabbings, which occurred around 11:20 pm on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police said.

No further information about the suspect has been made public at the time of this reporting, however, the Manchester Evening News reports that detectives believe the man was "known" to the victims, and the stabbings are thought to have been an "isolated" incident.

In a statement issued on Monday morning, Detective Superintendent Toby Facey said: "We understand that the local community and further afield across Greater Manchester will be rightly shocked and concerned after waking up and hearing this tragic news this morning.

"Our thoughts remain with those affected and their loved ones at this difficult time. We are doing all we can to support them.

"Within minutes of the call being made, our officers were at the scene and an arrest had been made.

"An investigation has been launched and we are in the very early stages of our enquiries. We have had detectives on the ground who have been working throughout the night trying to get to the bottom of what has happened and why.

"Local officers will remain in the area making enquiries, as well as an increased number of highly visible patrols. If you have any concerns, please speak to them.

George Soros Gives Up On Gascon
[ZH] Soros Stops Spending On Soft-On-Crime Prosecutors

In a post last year ("San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin Was The Tip Of The Iceberg"), after the recall of San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin, I noted that dozens of soft-on-crime prosecutors had been put in office by George Soros's money:

Americans who dislike rampant crime and the prosecutors who don't try to stop it scored a victory this week, with the successful recall election of George Soros backed San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin. While Boudin may be unique in having been the only American prosecutor who was the son of two convicted felony murders, he unfortunately is not unique in having been backed by George Soros. A new paper by the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund claims that America has at least 75 prosecutors whose campaigns were either funded directly by George Soros's foundations, or indirectly via third parties that get most of their funding from Soros's foundations.

I also included the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund's paper there detailing how Soros helped finance a spike in crime.

Here is a bit of good news though: the Soros-backed, soft-on-crime Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon is headed for defeat in his upcoming re-election, thanks in part to Soros not financing his campaign this year.

As our friends at America 2100 detail in the thread below, even in blue cities, public opinion has turned against soft-on-crime prosecutors, and in response, Soros has stopped funding them.

How about a simple federal election law.

Must be a US Citizen and a registered US voter to donate Money to any US Federal, State or local election campaign.

In the case of State & Local elections.
The person must be a registered voter of that state.

Any and all funds must be donated by the name of the person living in that state for at least 6 months.

Must have a valid State issued ID with address for that state.

Businesses, Organizations and the Media must also follow this law.

Violations of this law shall carry a mandatory 5-year sentence per violation, but not to exceed 15 years.

Democrats risk star power outshining issues at party convention in Chicago
Don't look behind the curtain.
[JustTheNews] A roster of Hollywood-types and musicians including Reese Witherspoon, Billy Porter, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Legend and more are scheduled to participate in events during convention week. Platforms and policy? Not so much.

The Creative Coalition non-profit group is reportedly hosting events during the week with a delegation that is expected to include Hollywood actresses and actors Uzo Aduba, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Chris Witaske, Yvette Nicole Brown, Anthony Anderson, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Busy Philipps, Jon Cryer, David Cross, Yolonda Ross, Iain Armitage, and Danai Gurira.

The group is also expected to co-host an event with Oscar-winner Octavia Spencer in partnership with Reproductive Freedom for All, End Citizens United and Gabrielle Giffords’ gun safety organization, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The event will include musical performances by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Drive-By Truckers and SistaStrings.

Apparently more famous names have expressed interest in taking part in the convention in some way but the Harris campaign, according to gossip website TMZ, is reportedly being selective, quoting an unnamed source who allegedly said Harris is working hard to avoid the Chicago-based DNC being painted as a "Hollywood liberal elite" event.
Too late.

Walz admin gave $2 million to al Qaeda-linked charity
[JustTheNews] Minnesota awarded more than $2 million to a Muslim group that fundraises for an al Qaeda-linked charity under the tenure of Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.).

The Islamic Association of North America (IANA) received state grants from 2019 to 2024, the Washington Examiner reported.

IANA fundraises for Rahma Worldwide, a Michigan-based charity claiming to ship humanitarian aid to Gaza.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Rahma Worldwide President Shadi Zaza said his charity is collaborating on an aid initiative with the Islamic Heritage Revival Society of Kuwait, a U.S.-designated terror group sanctioned for funding al Qaeda.

This latest revelation comes amid criticism of Walz over his links to Muslim cleric Asad Zaman, whom Walz repeatedly hosted as Minnesota's governor.

Zaman has defended the October 7 attacks and shared a pro-Hitler film on social media. Walz referred to Zaman in 2018 as a "master teacher" at a Muslim American Society of Minnesota event. The society partners with IANA.

Fifth Column
Media Hide Biden-Harris' Huge Migrant Flood in Campaign Season
[Breitbart] More than 170,000 migrants crossed President Joe Biden’s borders in July, but the TV networks and establishment media pretend the inflow was just 56,048 migrants during the run-up to the 2024 election.

The July 2024 inflow of more than 170,000 migrants is triple the number touted by Biden’s pro-migration border chief and his media allies. It is also four times the 40,000 illegal migrants who appeared at President Donald Trump’s southern border in July 2020.

Most of the 170,000 migrants are being welcomed into the United States under a series of recently invented and quasi-legal pathways.

That legal maneuver helps campaigning Kamala Harris and her media allies to hide most of the wealth-shifting economic migration into American’ communities, housing, schools, and workplaces.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Mother of eight, 33, is brutally executed while visiting Oakland
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] …'after confronting drug dealers who'd just targeted her kids with weed'

A mother-of-eight was brutally murdered in crime-ridden Oakland after confronting teenage drug dealers who had allegedly just sold her kids marijuana. Maria Ramos, 33, was visiting her mother, Blanca Velasco, with her eight children on August 7 when known drug dealers approached two of her children and reportedly sold them marijuana pipes.

Ramos and Velasco then decided to follow the blue Toyota sedan to tell them to stop coming to her house, according to KTVU. Surveillance footage obtained by the TV station shows the suspects stop at an intersection, with one opening the driver's side door. Ramos and Velaso, in a gray SUV, then stop right next to the vehicle. Ramos, who had struggled with substance abuse in the past, got out of the passenger side when tragedy struck.

The teenagers inside the vehicle began shooting at her, with one passenger getting out of the car and firing more shots as Ramos ran away.

After a few moments, Velasco could also be seen driving the SUV away from the scene. She recounted how she thought her daughter was just taking cover.

'I just saw her taking off and I just heard the bang,' Velasco told NBC Bay Area.

'And then I pressed on the gas to put my car in front of their car to shield my daughter,' she said. 'I saw my daughter going down, but I thought my daughter was taking cover.'

She told the San Francisco Chronicle she then peered into the back seat of the Toyota - where she saw a teenage boy half leaning out the window pointing a gun toward her. In a panic, Velasco said she sped off with the Toyota trailing her, before eventually losing it in traffic. She then doubled back to get Ramos, and at first didn't see her - until she noticed her daughter lying on the street in a puddle of blood.

Arriving police attempted life-saving measures, but Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers then worked to identify the suspects' vehicle and were able to bring three suspects - two minors and 19-year-old Isaiah Gomez - into custody.

They now believe Ramos was shot by a 16 year old, who is being held at Alameda County Juvenile Hall, but police are also investigating whether Ramos may have sprayed pepper spray at the suspects before they fired.

Gomez, meanwhile, was detained and questioned by police, but pleaded not guilty during a hearing on Friday, according to the Chronicle. He has since been released with an ankle monitor.

Velasco told KPIX she worries that the city's woke District Attorney Pamela Price will not charge her daughter's killer as an adult. Price faces a recall election in November over her soft-on-crime policies.

'If you were big enough to get a gun and kill somebody, you're big enough to pay the price.'

[OffThePress] Woman Arrested After Trying To Run Over Boyfriend En Route To Couples Therapy: Cops

A 30-year-old Minnesota woman is in custody after an incident on the way to couples therapy.

Veronica Roleen Gast was arrested for second-degree assault, criminal vehicular operation, bodily harm, gross negligence, and domestic assault, according to an affidavit obtained by Crime Online.

Gast was driving to a couples therapy appointment with her boyfriend when the incident occurred on Wednesday. Before the incident, Gast and her boyfriend had been a couple for about one year.

According to Crime Online, while driving on the way to the therapist, Gast’s boyfriend announced he was breaking up their relationship and requested to be taken home.

Gast then allegedly suddenly stopped her car and demanded her boyfriend exit the vehicle. According to the affidavit obtained by Crime Online, the victim, her boyfriend, passed in front of her car to get to a nearby sidewalk.

When her boyfriend passed the front of the vehicle, Gast allegedly made eye contact before hitting the gas pedal in an attempt to run him over, according to the affidavit obtained by Crime Online.

Georgia Board To Vote On Requiring Number Of Ballots Cast To Equal Number Of Voters
Anything that makes it harder to cheat…
[Federalist] On Monday, the Georgia State Election Board (SEB) is set to vote on a rule amendment that would require all county boards of elections to comply with new procedures to enforce current state requirements that the number of ballots, number of votes, and number of voters in election tallies come out equal.

Georgia saw more than 3,000 ballots double-scanned during the 2020 presidential recount in Fulton County. It is unclear how many — if any — of the double scanned ballots were counted twice as votes, since the Georgia secretary of state’s office could not confirm it, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Kevin Moncla, who filed a complaint alleging potential violations of Georgia’s election code in Fulton County, tells The Federalist he believes the double-scanned ballots were indeed counted twice since he says they appeared in the cast vote record. A streamlined reconciliation process would catch a repeat of this election malfeasance by identifying more votes tallied than the amount of voters who voted.

But Moncla tells The Federalist it wasn’t just that more than 3,000 ballots were double scanned.

FBI arrests DC councilman who in 2018 accused Jewish financiers of 'climate manipulation'
[FoxNews] Trayon White Sr made news in 2018 for accusing Jewish financiers for 'climate manipulation'

The FBI arrested a Washington, D.C., city councilman on Sunday, though the circumstances surrounding the matter are not yet clear.

City Council President Phil Mendelson confirmed that fellow council member Trayon White Sr. was arrested on Sunday afternoon.

"I've talked to several people. I can confirm he was arrested around 2 o'clock by the FBI," Mendelson told a WTTG reporter. "I'm anxious to get more details to understand what is the situation. … You all know as much as I know."

Fox News has reached out to the FBI Washington field office, which declined to comment at this time.

White made national headlines in March 2018 when he suggested that Jewish financiers control the weather. The claim came as he filmed himself driving through downtown Washington in the snow and ranted about "climate manipulation."

"And D.C. keep talking about, ‘We’re a resilient city.’ And that’s a model based off the Rothschilds controlling the climate to create natural disasters they can pay for to own the cities, man," he said in the now-deleted video. "Be careful."

The Rothschilds, a European Jewish banking family descended from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, have been the subject of antisemitic conspiracy theories for centuries, including that they control the world’s financial institutions and manipulate world events to their benefit.

White initially defended his comments, saying, "The video says what it says," but he later apologized to the Jewish community.

In addition to his comments about the Rothschilds, White also tweeted at prominent antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan in 2013 and said he was "honored" to share a birthday with Farrakhan, adding, "I must respect his intelligence, will, & boldness."

The DOJ claims the alleged bribe led to a $5.2 million contract and "were for two companies to provide Violence Intervention services in D.C."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian perspective: Operation in Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 22:16 Zelensky said in an evening video address that he had heard Syrsky's report: "And on the situation in eastern Ukraine, and on the operation in the Kursk region, and on the exchange fund, on the staffing of our brigades - the staffing of our reserves: this includes shells and weapons. In all areas, our guys - you are great. But we need to speed up the supplies from our partners. We are asking for it. War has no vacations. We need solutions, we need timely logistics for the announced packages. I am especially addressing the United States, Great Britain, and France now."

The president also reported on "good, necessary results in the destruction of Russian equipment near Toretsk." "And all this is more than protection for Ukraine, this is now the main task of our defense actions in general - to destroy as much Russian potential, war potential, as possible, and to carry out maximum counterattack work. In particular, this is the creation of a buffer zone on the territory of the aggressor - our operation in the Kursk region."

18:25 Due to a shortage of personnel, the Russian command has transferred Aerospace Forces servicemen who were written off as motorized riflemen to defend the Kursk region, writes the Russian publication Vazhiye Istorii. According to its information, a motorized rifle regiment of Aerospace Forces servicemen was created in May-June for the border cover group.

The VKS infantry arrived in the border areas several weeks before the Ukrainian Armed Forces raid in mid-July. They were assigned to the infantry from the Ukrainka airfields in the Altai region, Belaya in the Irkutsk region, and Engels in the Saratov region. All of these airbases are home to heavy Tu-22M or Tu-95 bombers, which launch missiles at Ukrainian cities. There are also servicemen from one of the Russian spaceports, special VKS personnel, and personnel from the Voronezh radar stations. These stations are deployed along Russia's borders to prevent a nuclear strike.

17:58 North Korea condemned the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region and called it "an unforgivable act of aggression and terror." Thus, the DPRK became the second country to directly condemn the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive on Russian territory. The first was Syria, which on August 10 called the Ukrainian offensive a "terrorist attack."

11:04 Air Force Commander Nikolai Oleshchuk confirmed that aviation destroyed another bridge in the Kursk region and showed a video:

09:03 In the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Armed Forces damaged the second bridge across the Seim River - in the village of Zvannoye, Russian and Ukrainian Telegram channels report and publish photos. Supplies to Russian units in the Kursk direction were carried across this bridge. Earlier, as a result of an attack, a bridge in neighboring Glushkovo collapsed. Thus, in the Glushkovsky district, the only bridge left is in the village of Karyzh, "after the obvious imminent destruction of which, supplies to the group of the Russian Armed Forces defending the region (in particular, the border Tetkino) will fall on pontoons and boats," notes one of the Russian military publics.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 18, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 22:31 Reintegration Minister Irina Vereshchuk called on residents of Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad and Selydove in Donetsk Oblast to evacuate. She explained that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains difficult.

22:02 As a result of today's Russian airstrike in Belopolye, Sumy Oblast, one person was killed and three were wounded, including an 11-year-old child, OVA reported. Another person was injured as a result of KAB airstrikes in the Yunakivska community.

19:57 Russians shelled the village of Razliv in the Velikonovoselkovsky community of Donetsk Oblast - one person was killed and one was wounded, said OVA head Vadim Filashkin. Another person was killed and one was wounded as a result of the Russian attack on the city of Toretsk, the prosecutor's office reported.

18:30 British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has instructed the country's National Security Council to develop a plan for expanded support for Ukraine. The Times writes that the new support for Kiev will likely be comprehensive. In particular, this includes not only military aid, but also "economic, industrial, and diplomatic aid." London has already created a special group that will develop a unified British policy toward Ukraine. It includes representatives of the country's Ministry of Defense and Foreign Ministry.

18:13 On Monday, August 19, due to the heat, power outage schedules will be applied: from 17:00 to 21:00, one phase of outages will be in effect, Ukrenergo reported.

17:54 Russians dropped a KAB on Belopolye in Sumy Oblast - according to preliminary information, one person was killed, one was wounded, OVA reported.

17:16 Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak stated that the church in Ukraine will be deprived of Moscow's influence: "Even since Soviet times, the church in Russia and for Russia has been the territory and ears of their special services. Russia today is a country that destroys churches in Ukraine. For them, there is no God, no faith. When in Ukraine today there are those who are ready to defend the influence of the Moscow church, beat people, threaten them on social networks, having the status of a people's deputy, then this is not normal. And this is not about freedom, but about something else. This should not be done - our society has already passed all the tests for unity. There will be no church schism here. And no threats either."

16:31 Russians shelled Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast with artillery throughout the day - two people were killed, one was wounded, reported OVA head Vadim Filashkin. He also reported that the curfew has been tightened in Myrnohrad and Selydove: from Monday, August 19, it will be in effect from 15:00 to 11:00.

15:22 Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova denied information from The Washington Post that Russia planned to hold secret talks with Ukraine in Qatar on a partial ceasefire, which were disrupted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces' offensive in the Kursk region. "Nobody disrupted anything, because there was nothing to disrupt. No direct or indirect negotiations between Russia and the Kiev regime on the security of civilian critical infrastructure facilities have been or are being conducted," Zakharova said.

14:51 Lukashenko said that Belarus has transferred almost a third of its army to the border with Ukraine because there are allegedly more than 120 thousand Ukrainian troops there. According to him, Ukraine believes that "Putin will again attack from the territory of Belarus." "In response, I was forced to transfer almost a third of the army additionally to strengthen what was there," Lukashenko noted.

In turn, the speaker of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Andrei Demchenko called this statement by Lukashenko "a new portion of escalation." According to him, the situation on the border with Belarus remains unchanged, "we are not currently seeing an increase in equipment or personnel of Belarusian units at our border."

12:40 This morning, the Russian army carried out a massive attack in the area of the settlements of Pivnichnoye and Zaliznoye in the Donetsk region. In particular, Russian troops, supported by an armored group of 12 vehicles, tried to break through the positions of the Defense Forces and advance towards Toretsk. The Defense Forces repelled the attack, no positions were lost, the General Staff reported.

12:27 Russian troops are approaching Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast - the enemy is 11 km from the outskirts of the settlement, said the head of the city's military administration, Sergei Dobryak, and called on city residents to evacuate. According to him, 59,980 residents still remain in Pokrovsk. Before the full-scale invasion, about 86 thousand people lived in the Pokrovsk community. Dobryak added that the humanitarian situation in Pokrovsk is normal, but due to the proximity of the front, the threat of shelling is growing.

11:53 In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russians attacked a substation twice with a drone - a fire started, and as a result of the repeated shelling, a rescuer was injured, the Ministry of Energy reported.

11:09 The General Staff reported that the Defense Forces struck the Kavkaz plant in the Rostov region on the night of August 18 - oil and oil products were stored there, which were supplied, among other things, for the needs of the Russian Armed Forces. At least two fires were recorded on the territory of the facility, detailed information is being clarified.

09:48 In the morning, the Russian army attacked Stepanivka in the Kherson region, one person was wounded, the OVA reported. Over the previous day, two people were injured as a result of Russian shelling in the region.

09:40 In Donetsk Oblast, two people were killed as a result of Russian shelling on August 17 - in Mirnohrad and Toretsk. Another eight people in the oblast were injured in the past 24 hours, four of them in Mirnohrad, reported OVA head Vadim Filashkin.

09:33 At night, Russia used 16 air attack weapons to attack Ukraine: one Iskander-M ballistic missile, two KN-23 ballistic missiles, two Kh-59 guided air missiles, three cruise missiles (type to be specified), and eight Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs, the Air Force reported. All drones were destroyed, as well as two KN-23 ballistic missiles and three cruise missiles of an unspecified type. Aerial targets were destroyed within the Kyiv, Sumy and Poltava regions. The remaining missiles, not included in the statistics of those shot down, did not reach their targets.

08:12 This morning, at about 05:00, Russia attacked Kiev with ballistics. This is already the third ballistic shelling of the capital in August with a clear interval of six days between each attack, said the head of the KGVA, Sergei Popko. According to him, the strike was almost identical to the two previous ones - most likely, the enemy used North Korean ballistic missiles of the KN-23 type. All of them were shot down as they approached the capital. In addition, almost simultaneously with the ballistics, several attack UAVs were approaching Kiev - they were also destroyed outside the city.

Two hours after the attempt to carry out a ballistic strike, at about 07:00, the enemy attacked Kyiv with cruise missiles - preliminarily, Iskander-K. After lengthy complex maneuvers across several regions, the missiles attempted to hit targets from the southern direction, but all were destroyed. At present, there are no destructions or casualties in Kyiv.

07:56 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the Russian Federation as of the morning of August 18:

  • personnel - about 599,350 (+1170) people,

  • tanks - 8508 (+7),

  • combat armored vehicles - 16,480 (+7),

  • artillery systems - 17,056 (+71),

  • MLRS - 1161 (+1),

  • air defense systems - 923 (+0),

  • aircraft - 367 (+0),

  • helicopters - 328 (+0),

  • Operational-tactical level UAVs - 13,752 (+38),

  • cruise missiles - 2432 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 28 (+0),

  • submarines - 1 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tank trucks - 22,992 (+79),

  • special equipment - 2846 (+2).

07:21 Drones attacked an oil depot in Rostov Oblast, Governor Vasily Golubev reported. According to him, air defense forces allegedly repelled the UAV attack, but as a result of debris falling on the territory of industrial warehouses in Proletarsk, diesel fuel caught fire. Later, the oil depot was attacked by a UAV again, there were no casualties. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of five UAVs overnight, two of which were over Belgorod Oblast, one over Kursk, and two over Rostov Oblast.

01:13 The IAEA said nuclear safety at the occupied Zaporizhia NPP had deteriorated following a drone attack on August 17. The drone exploded near cooling ponds and just 100 metres from a critical power line supplying the plant. There were no casualties or damage to equipment. Agency Director Rafael Grossi expressed "serious concern" and called on "the parties" to strictly adhere to nuclear safety principles.

Veteran hedge fund manager issues grim warning over the future of the US stock market: 'This is a stark red flag'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] This month's stark stock market swing serves as an indicator of things soon to come, warns one veteran hedge fund operator.

Mark Spitznagel, president and chief investment officer of Universa Investments, made the prediction in an interview with Fortune, almost two weeks after the scare.

At the time, markets from Japan to the US fell without warning, following a weak jobs report surging volatility amid conflict in the Middle East.

In the wake of the dip, markets have since rebounded - but Spitznagel on Sunday insisted that may be misleading.

The billionaire investor said we're instead on the verge of the biggest stock market bubbles in history, which inevitably will end with a burst as it did in 2008. Back then, mortgages unloaded to high-risk borrowers resulted in a period of turmoil, following a euphoric bull run.

'These whips are the market process,' the 53-year-old said of the more recent unrest, as the S&P 500 on Sunday stood about 5 percent from its August 5 low.

'This is the market zigging in order to zag.'

Of the panic seen from investors days before, the hedge fund manager declared, 'It was amateur hour. I have never seen anything like that in my career.'

He went on to explain that while another bull run is in the cards most investors will not be prepared for what comes next over the course of the next several months.

'This is a stark red flag, it's a stark warning sign,' he said, forecasting financial ruin.'

'[It's] a great comparison to 2007.'

Citing the weight of the Fed's repeated rate hikes and the fact that interest rates have been near zero for over a decade following the financial crisis created by the reckless lending, he added, 'But I think we're going to see a compressed path.'

Unlike the buildup to the Great Recession, which took the better part of a year, he said that this time around, 'I don't think we've got a year of this.'

As for his rationale, he explained, '[B]ecause the connectivity is greater…the fragility is greater.'

The tighter timeframe, he said, stems in large part from the Fed's recent rate hikes, and will cause an even more abrupt turnaround than the 2008 market blowup and others before it.

Explaining how Americans are essentially in the midst of a global economy that's more interwoven than ever, he said the Fed's policies move markets worldwide.

This is what caused Japan's Nikkei 225 worst day since 1987, when it fell more than 12 percents, and South Korea's KOSPI simultaneous reduction of eight percent.

A mid-day halt to trading ensued, followed by a sell-off on the global scale.

'Dips are the price of stock market gains,' Spitznagel said of the scare.

'You've got to be able to pay that price. The problem is, the big ones. They're too destructive of a price,' he continued. 'That's where we could be headed.'

He went on to disclaim how the key word in that warning is 'could', advising onlookers to not take unnecessary risks for betting big against his predicted bubble.

'I think if anybody shorts the market or is too under invested relative to their temperament, they’re going to get squeezed in at a euphoric height that is probably still coming in the months ahead,' Spitznagel said.

Instead, he urged investors to be patient, by first investing in basic S&P 500 index funds, and to also maintain a safety net as to not be forced to make a sudden sale at any given moment.

Georgia deputy Brandon Cunningham killed in murder-suicide after responding to domestic dispute
[NYPOST] A Georgia sheriff's deputy was shot and killed while responding to a reported domestic dispute in what police said was an ambush on officers by a suspect who took his own life.

Two deputies responded to a call shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday and immediately were fired upon from a home in a subdivision in Hiram, Georgia, Major Ashley Henson of the Paulding County Sheriff's Office said during a briefing.

The male suspect also fired ''a hail of bullets'' at other officers but only one was shot, Henson said.

Deputy Brandon Cunningham, 30, died at a hospital from a gunshot wound, Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge confirmed during the briefing.

''Tonight, we've lost a hero,'' Gulledge said, adding that ''it's going to be a tough time for all of us and all of our guys.''

The suspect, who was not immediately identified, died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Henson said.

A woman who was involved in the domestic dispute had left but returned while police were at the scene.

She also had been shot and was transported to an Atlanta-area hospital and listed in stable, pH balanced condition, Henson said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will oversee the investigation, Henson said, adding that it was not immediately clear if any of the officers returned fire in the community about 27 miles northwest of Atlanta.

"Unfortunately, it appears as if our deputies were ambushed," Henson said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Son of Hamas founder claims war 'not going to stop' while Ayatollah lives
[NYPOST] One-time Israel double agent and son of a Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
founder Mosab Hassan Yusef warned there is ''no such thing'' as a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas until Iran's supreme leader is removed from power.

''This is an open war, and I'm afraid that we haven't seen the worst of it yet,'' Yusef told Fox News Digital. ''And let me tell you something: This whole thing is only for one purpose — to just bring the hostages back, and whenever there is an opportunity to just bring the hostages, I think this is where Israel is compromising.''

''But, eventually, this war is not going to stop until Islamists are removed from power, and I'm afraid now that we are coming to realize, without removing ayatollah from power, the Middle East would never experience peace and prosperity,'' Yusef said.

The son of a Hamas founder details in his new book, ''From Hamas to America,'' the deeply psychological impact of his harrowing life as a member of Hamas, his time as a double agent working for the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) and his exit to America after a decade of service.

This provides Yusef a unique perspective on the conflicts in the Middle East, and his message is stark: ''A cease-fire now, a temporary cease-fire that could bring some of the hostages back home alive is not a bad thing, but I'm afraid that this is just a temporary situation.''

''The approach of the current administration that is hesitant, that is trying to please everybody, to win votes— well, this is a short, political interest at the expense of the fundamentals of the country,'' Yusef argued.

''I think this is where Hamas can sense the compromise, when they see their hesitation, when they see the conflict within the administration, when they sense hypocrisy, they know that the politicians have been compromised,'' he said. ''And this is when they can actually find a way to infiltrate and to press toward creating more division and more chaos.''

Mayor of Chicago calls Gaza war ‘genocidal’ ahead of DNC

A member of the Democratic Party (naturally), Johnson previously worked as a social studies teacher in the city's stellar public schools system. He helped organize the 2012 teachers strike. Prior to becoming Da Mare, he served on the Cook County Board of Boodlng Commissioners from 2018 to 2023...

Cholera outbreak in Sudan killed at least 22 people, health minister says
[AlJazeera] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
has been stricken by a cholera outbreak that has killed nearly two dozen people and sickened hundreds more in recent weeks, health authorities said.

Health Minister Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim said in a statement on Sunday that at least 22 people have died from the disease, and that at least 354 confirmed cases of cholera have been detected across the war-torn country in recent weeks.

On Saturday, he declared a cholera epidemic in Sudan and noted that the outbreak was ''because of the weather conditions and because drinking water has been contaminated''.

He said the decision was taken in conjunction with authorities in the eastern state of Kassala, United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
agencies and experts after the ''discovery by the public health laboratory of the cholera virus''.

An official from the World Health Organization (WHO), Margaret Harris, said in a media call on Friday that 11,327 cholera cases with 316 deaths had been reported in Sudan so far.

''We expect to have more than has been reported,'' she added.

Cholera is a fast-developing, highly contagious infection that causes diarrhoea, leading to severe dehydration and possible death within hours when not treated, according to the WHO. It is transmitted through the ingestion of contaminated food or water and can kill within hours without treatment. Children under five are at particular risk.

Cholera is not uncommon in Sudan. A previous major outbreak left at least 700 dead and sickened about 22,000 in less than two months in 2017.

But the outbreak of the disease is the latest calamity for the region.

Devastating seasonal floods in recent weeks have also compounded the misery. Dozens of people have been killed and critical infrastructure has been washed away in 12 of Sudan's 18 provinces, according to local authorities. About 118,000 people have been displaced due to the floods, according to the United Nations' migration agency.

Strip, in the latest waves of Israel's deadly attacks across the besieged Paleostinian territory.

At least 25 Paleostinians were killed in the past 24 hours, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The parents and their six children were killed in Deir el-Balah in the central part of the Strip, al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital said. The grandfather of the children said their mother worked for the United Nations
...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense...
.
Was she then Hamas, or her father or husband, that she got such a plum of a job?
''My daughter, together with her husband and six children, was sleeping peacefully at home in Deir al-Balah. They were taken by surprise, an Israeli missile landed over their heads. The entire house was flattened. They were all killed,'' Mohammed Awad Khattab told Al Jazeera.

''My daughter has been struggling to have children for years. She had those children through IVF —
…IVF is very expensive. They must have been highly connected to afford it…
What wrong did those innocent children do? Were they posing any danger to Israel? Were they carrying arms?'' he asked.

Al Jazeera's Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el-Balah, said: ''Four of her children were twins and they have been lined up together in order to be buried in cemeteries here in this town.

''We have seen really heartbreaking scenes this morning with dozens of bodies lined up in the morgue outside al-Aqsa Hospital. There has been a remarkable surge in Israeli strikes in Deir el-Balah where Paleostinians were told to seek refuge,'' Abu Azzoum added
Y’all had fun starting your little war with murder, rape and pillaging. Now that Israel is finishing it, enjoy knowing that this is all your own fault.
Israel's 10-month-long offensive has so far killed more than 40,000 Paleostinians in Gaza.

war.

''Earlier today, three peacekeepers on patrol were lightly injured when a kaboom occurred near their clearly marked UN vehicle in the vicinity of Yarine, in south Lebanon,'' the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said in a statement.

''All peacekeepers in the patrol returned safely to their base. We are looking into the incident,'' it added.

Earlier Sunday, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency had reported that ''Israeli enemy warplanes'' struck the village of Dhayra, about one kilometer (0.6 miles) from Yarine, ''resulting in injuries.''

A UNIFIL source told AFP the earth-shattering kaboom that injured the peacekeepers was probably a nearby air strike, but ''not a direct hit.''

Earlier in August, Under Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix told AFP that UNIFIL was today ''more important than ever'' amid the ongoing cross-border festivities, because it was ''the only liaison channel between the Israeli side and the Lebanese side in all its components, such as Hezbollah.''

In April, a judicial official told AFP that an ongoing Lebanese army investigation determined that a land mine maimed three UN military observers and a translator the previous month, while Israel implicated Hezbollah.

UNIFIL's mandate, which expires at the end of the month, is set to be renewed by the UN Security Council for another year.

The cross-border violence has killed 582 people in Lebanon, mostly Hezbollah fighters but including at least 128 civilians, according to an AFP tally.
"civilians"
On the Israeli side, including in the annexed Golan Heights, 22 soldiers and 26 civilians have been killed, according to army figures.

Harris leans into full communism
[NYPOST] ''Voters want to blame someone for high grocery bills'' and Kamala Harris
It is time for us to do what we have been doing. And that time is every day
has chosen ''corporate greed'' by vowing to impose price controls, scoffs Catherine Rampell at The Washington Post.

''It's hard to exaggerate how bad this policy is. It is, in all but name, a sweeping set of government-enforced price controls across every industry, not only food. Supply and demand would no longer determine prices or profit levels. Far-off Washington babus bureaucrats would. The FTC would be able to tell, say, a Kroger in Ohio the acceptable price it can charge for milk. At best, this would lead to shortages, black markets and hoarding.''

''If your opponent claims you're a ‘communist,' maybe don't start with an economic agenda that can (accurately) be labeled as federal price controls.''

#5  The current high inflation rate has a lot to do with Covid-related causes (increased household demand and supply chain shortages due to the pandemic). Then there is the war in Ukraine and a strong labor market.

At the beginning of the pandemic, consumers started to spend less because of the lockdown and started to save more. Then, as the Covid-19 restrictions eased, businesses couldn't keep up with this increased consumer demand, and experienced shipping delays as well as shortages of labor and key inputs. All of this led to higher prices for most goods and services. Gasoline, housing, and food saw the largest price increases.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the resulting sanctions by Western countries that severely restricted imports of Russian oil played a significant role in rising energy prices and supply chain issues, as did fluctuating consumer demand for gasoline.

To blame "corporate greed" is more or less nonsense. But so is the exaggerated responsibility of the US administration for these global events.

Harris' policy is certainly wrong and just populist, but Trump should explain how HE would bring down inflation (it's already going down btw).

Hardly... Biden and the Democrats passed budgets after the pandemic as if the pandemic was still continuing. Had they cut back to pre-pandemic levels inflation would not be as bad. Additionally, Biden still has $1T to spend in the next 3 months.

Russian Foreign Ministry spox Zakharova: There is nothing to talk about with Kiev after the attacks on Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] There is nothing to talk about with the Ukrainian Nazi regime, which kills civilians and creates threats to nuclear security. This was stated in a comment by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

She noted that after August 6, “the whole world saw the Ukrobanderites’ response to this gesture of goodwill – a bandit raid into the Kursk region, their atrocities against the civilian population,” as well as the murders of doctors, rescuers and volunteers, attacks on civilian vehicles, rocket attacks on residential buildings and the creation of threats to nuclear safety.

“Of course, as Vladimir Putin said, there is nothing to talk about with people who do such things,” she summed up.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been attacking the Kursk region since August 6. Russian army units stopped the Ukrainian military in the border areas and did not allow them to go deep into the territory. The Investigative Committee reported that Ukrainian militants are actively using NATO weapons in the Kursk region.

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the Ukrainian Armed Forces attack another large-scale provocation by Kiev. He added that Ukrainian armed forces are firing indiscriminately from various types of weapons, attacking residential buildings, ambulances, and civilian buildings with missiles.

Zakharova warned that the Russian military will give a tough response to the Ukrainian Armed Forces for attacks on Russian regions. She stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' invasion of the Kursk region is an act of terrorism. According to her, the actions of Ukrainian military personnel are aimed at destroying civilian infrastructure, as well as killing and intimidating civilians.

Russian Foreign Ministry responds to reports of alleged breakdown of talks with Kiev

No direct or indirect negotiations between Russia and the Kiev regime on the security of civilian critical infrastructure facilities have been or are being conducted, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported on August 18.

This is how the department commented on an article in The Washington Post, which reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region allegedly disrupted indirect negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow in Qatar on the topic of strikes on critical infrastructure facilities.

“Nobody tore anything down because there was nothing to tear down,” says a commentary published on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.

They added that the threat to the security of such facilities, including the Zaporizhzhya and now the Kursk NPP, is created solely by the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the complicity with them by the United States and other Western countries.

The department also pointed out the symbolism of the fact that the Ukrainian Armed Forces began their sortie into the Kursk region on August 6, the anniversary of the American nuclear bombing of Hiroshima - the first and only use of nuclear weapons against civilians and civilian infrastructure in human history.

The Russian Foreign Ministry also once again reminded that the Russian Armed Forces do not strike civilian targets. Moreover, they are currently doing everything possible to protect such targets from strikes by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using Western weapons and to protect the world from a large-scale man-made disaster.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Ukrainian Armed Forces intend to attack the Kursk and Zaporizhzhya NPPs using so-called " dirty bombs " - charges with warheads containing radioactive substances. The warheads have already been delivered to the settlement of Zhovti Vody in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine.

In a telephone conversation with Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, CEO Rafael Grossi expressed his willingness to visit nuclear power plants located in the Ukrainian conflict zone.

If the Ukrainian Armed Forces begin to implement criminal plans aimed at creating a man-made disaster in the European part of the continent with radioactive contamination of vast territories, Russia will immediately take tough countermeasures, the Ministry of Defense stated.

Hezbollah commander dies in airstrike after phone call
[NYPOST] Israel lured out an elusive Hezbollah commander with a mysterious phone call moments before launching the deadly Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
that would kill him and cause the terror group to vow Dire Revenge, according to a new report.

Fuad Shukr, who had evaded even the US for four decades, was killed on July 30 when he received a phone call in the southern Beirut neighborhood of Dahiyeh, a Hezbollah official told the Wall Street Journal.
"I'm calling about your car's extended warranty..."
The evening call instructed the Hezbollah commander to go up to the seventh floor of his building, with an Israel missile slamming into the complex at around 7 p.m., killing him, his family and injuring 70 others, according to Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. 's health ministry.

Officials in the terror group believe the call came from someone who had breached its internal communications network, exposing failures in Hezbollah’s intelligence network that compromised one of its most senior and elusive leaders.

Shukr was one of Hezbollah’s key founders and trusted ally of chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...>
, both of whom backed the terror group’s ongoing attacks on Israel since Oct. 8.

Despite his high-ranking position, the commander had remained out of the public spotlight since the 1983 Beirut bombings, where faceless myrmidons detonated two truck bombs at military barracks in the city, killing 241 American servicemen.

Shukr was so elusive that even people living in the same building where he hid and operated had no idea who he was.

"He was like a ghost," one neighbor told the Journal of Shukr, who he never spotted in the complex.

The Hezbollah officials’ shadow nature even followed him to the grave, with Lebanese media outlets initially publishing photos of the wrong man following the July airstrike.

The IDF had targeted Shukr following the attack he allegedly greenlit the rocket attack against the Israel-controlled Golan Heights, which killed 12 young people and left 40 other civilians injured.

Harris, 59, unveiled a suit of economic policies on Friday aimed at shoring up her standing with voters who blame the Biden-Harris administration for a spike in the cost of living.

''Giving Kamala Harris control over inflation policy, Shannon, it's like giving Jeffrey Epstein control over human trafficking policy. The American people are much smarter than that,'' Vance, 40, told ''Fox News Sunday'' anchor Shannon Bream.

''They don't buy the idea that Kamala Harris represents a fresh start. She is more of the same. It is doubling down on the failed policies of the [current] administration,'' he added.

One killed as explosion rocks Tel Aviv
[IRNA] Local media, citing Israeli police, said that a man was driving his truck when an bomb on his vehicle went off on Sunday night.

Police say they are investigating all possibilities behind the incident, the media outlets said.

Some reports said the incident was criminal.
Israel has several active criminal groups, as far as I can tell: Arab, Jewish, illegal alien, etc., and from time to time one sees the usual sort of internecine violence.
Others said it was a retaliatory operation by Paleostinians, adding that the slain man had worn an boom belt that went kaboom! before the scheduled time.

Israeli media also said the body of the person killed in the blast could not be identified.

'Camorra Puppies': Italian Youth Take Over Old Mafia Bosses
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

After a wave of violent showdowns and shootings in 2017, the term "child gangs" entered police usage. These groups are made up of teenage criminals and are distinguished by a rigid hierarchical structure.
[REGNUM] In Naples, in the square of the church of San Vincenzo, in the Rioni Sanità quarter, a bronze composition has been installed - a young man dressed in a shirt and jeans is trying to pull out a ball stuck between two slats of a boulevard bench. A metal plaque attached to the base of the composition tells anyone interested that this is a monument to Gennaro Cesarano, a boy who died from a Mafia bullet late in the evening of September 6, 2015. He will forever remain seventeen years old.

Health Ministry officials say 40,000 Paleostinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in the war.

In response, Hamdan accused Sciutto, who was reporting from Tel Aviv, of taking Israel's side in the decades-long conflict.

''Well, it seems to me you are giving the Israelis the right to kill Paleostinians when you ask if we feel regret for what Israel has done,'' Hamdan said. ''You have to understand that Israel has been killing the Paleostinians for the last 76 years.''

The two then went back on forth as Hamdan accused Sciutto of only viewing the conflict through ''Israeli eyes.''

''You didn't see the Israelis killing thousands of Paleostinians in those 20 years,'' Hamdan said, claiming Sciutto wasn't knowledgable of the thousands of Paleostinians who were killed in the 2008 and 2014 wars in Gaza.

Every graduate of NYC's elite Jewish Ramaz high school avoids Columbia for first time in decades
[NYPOST] None of this year's graduates of an elite Upper East Side Jewish high school will be attending Columbia University's premier liberal arts college for the first time in decades at least partly because of antisemitism.

''For the first time in over 20 years, we will not have a Ramaz graduate enrolling in Columbia College,'' Ramaz said in a statement Sunday to The Post.

One Ramaz student enrolled at Columbia's school of General Studies, and three students enrolled in Columbia-affiliated Barnard College for women — but none at the college, it said.

Ramaz indicated that anti-Israel protests and hostility toward Jewish students at Columbia during the previous semester had a factor in its graduates not attending Columbia College.

''Ramaz provides as much information as possible about the situation at various colleges of interest, and we have given priority to issues surrounding the horrific rise in antisemitic instances at some schools, so that our students and their families are able to make informed decisions about which colleges are right for them,'' a Ramaz rep said in an e-mail.

Rory Lancman, a top Jewish civil-rights activist whose two daughters graduated from Ramaz and who is a Columbia Law School graduate, said he would not recommend Jewish students to apply or attend Columbia at the moment because of Jew-bashing.

...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
are pursuing the same strategy on a national scale,'' with Team Biden similarly pandering to protesters.

What Dems ''fail to appreciate is that this crowd won't be appeased by anything less than full capitulation,'' including an ''end to any support for Israel.''

The Coalition to March on the DNC (If you're white you ain't right!)
...Democrat National Committee, where all those off-the-wall talking points originate...
is shipping busloads of protesters to reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown
...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel...
; they threaten ''to become the overriding theme'' there. How will Harris respond? ''Equivocation won't look good.''

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker downplays risks of 1968 Dem convention repeat: 'Whole different ballgame'
[NYPOST] Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker insisted that the violent mostly peaceful history of the 1968 Democratic National Convention in the Windy City won't repeat itself this week — despite the thousands of protesters expected to wreak havoc at the venue.

Pritzker (D) on Sunday downplayed fears of demonstrations escalating at this week's convention, saying a lot has changed in the last half-century and that authorities are ready.

''The fact is, it's a whole different ballgame. Here we are 56 years later, we've got a very, very different situation in the Democratic Party,'' Pritzker told CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
's ''State of the Union'' on Sunday.

''The Democratic Party, honestly, has coalesced around this candidate. That was not the case in 1968. Policing is all different now, and we've got technology at work,'' he added. ''The protesters are protesting something that is very far away from here — very important — but it's not about people getting drafted from here, going abroad.''

Navy Recruits Very Good Boy to Help Sailors on Extended USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Deployment
[USNI] The most popular member of the crew aboard USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) for its marathon deployment to the Middle East was not Ike’s commanding officer Capt. Christopher “Chowdah” Hill, despite his social media clout, chocolate chip cookies and support for Taco Tuesday. This crew member had a leg up on Hill. Actually, he had two.

That distinction goes to Captain Demo, a golden retriever/labrador mix, a multi-talented expeditionary facility dog tasked with everything from comforting sailors during therapy sessions to general morale improvement.

Thanks to a partnership with the Virginia Beach nonprofit Mutts with a Mission, Demo is one of three dogs currently attached to warships. A fourth dog is preparing to deploy with the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75) later this year.

Like his 5,000 shipmates on Ike, Demo spent all nine months on the aircraft carrier during the deployment, which was marked by combat actions in the Red Sea. While on board, he slept on a large dog bed in a stateroom shared with one of his two handlers, Hospital Corpsman Kindal Kidd told USNI News aboard the carrier. He had two heads, as well, where he could go to the bathroom.

Most days, Demo spent time with his handlers walking around the ship and visiting sailors. Their faces would light up when they saw the dog coming, Kidd, who is one of the handlers, said.

PREPARING TO EM-BARK ON A SHIP
The partnership between the Navy and Mutts With A Mission began with 2022, director Brooke Corson told USNI News this week.

The wife of then-commanding officer Capt. Dave Pollard, of the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77), reached out to Mutts With A Mission to see if the nonprofit could bring dogs aboard the ship, she said. Prior to the ship’s deployment, Mutts With A Mission brought dogs aboard weekly.

Other ships started requesting dog visits. After an October 2022 visit on amphibious warship USS Wasp (LHD-1), the ship’s executive officer and deployed resiliency counselor asked if it would be possible for a dog to deploy on the amphibious ship.

There is a long history of dogs aboard ships, although in a more personal capacity. Capt. Frederick Sherman brought his black cocker spaniel named Admiral Wags on his ships, according to “Dogs in the Navy” from the Naval Institute Press. Admiral Wags’ tales became fodder for a children’s book written by Sherman’s wife.

Aviators also brought a stray dog named Scrapper Shrapnel – “Scrappy” for short – aboard their aircraft carrier after finding the airedale terrier wandering the Pearl Harbor docks in 1943.

But there had not been an official program that used dogs as working animals to assist with mental health needs. Dogs, and other animals like horses, are known for beneficial effects on people. A 2022 meta-analysis in scientific journal PLOS One found that veterans benefited when placed with an assistance dog, while a 2023 study of Australian veterans and emergency services personnel found that those with an assistance dog had decreases in stress and depression.

Europe
Phone taps, sabotage and an assassination plot: Is Germany in Cold War 2.0?
[BBC] Holes mysteriously found cut in army base fences.

An alleged plot to assassinate Germany’s top weapons manufacturer.

Phone taps on a high-level Luftwaffe call.

These aren’t storylines lifted from a 1960s spy novel but real-life events in Germany, this year.

Not all of these events can definitively be blamed on Moscow, but Germany is on heightened alert for possible acts of Russian sabotage, because of Berlin’s continued military support for Kyiv.

As a hot war rages between Russia and Ukraine, there are fears that Europe has slipped into a new Cold War.

“When we think of the Cold War, we have a tendency to think of the 1970s by which point the rules of the game had become established and accepted,” says Mark Galeotti, a senior fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (Rusi) and director of Mayak Intelligence.

“In some way, we’re in the early Cold War – the Fifties and Sixties, so a much rawer time.”

But what does a rekindled Cold War look like for Europe’s biggest economy and a country that was once itself cut in half by the Iron Curtain?

The biggest bombshell dropped just last month when CNN reported that US officials had told Berlin of an alleged Russian plot to kill the chief executive of Germany’s biggest arms company Rheinmetall.

The Kremlin denied the report but German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who strikes a hawkish figure next to the more hesitant Chancellor Olaf Scholz, hit out at Russia for “waging a hybrid war of aggression".

I met Rheinmetall’s CEO, Armin Papperger, at a ground-breaking ceremony for a new ammunition factory in February.

Had a plot to kill him been successful, it would have sent shockwaves through the West.

A security blunder not long afterwards allowed spies to eavesdrop on a highly sensitive conversation between senior German air force officials, later broadcast on Russian TV. It was a cause of acute embarrassment for Berlin given that a brigadier general in the Luftwaffe appeared to allow spies into the secure call by dialling in on an insecure line.

The mega-blip, however isolated, fuelled accusations that Germany has long been a “weak link” within the European counter-intelligence due to a fragmented, federalised system that’s underpinned by a strong emphasis on individuals’ privacy.

Weeks later, two German-Russian nationals were arrested on suspicion of planning to sabotage US military facilities in Bavaria. Annalena Baerbock summoned the Russian ambassador to complain and announced: “We will not allow Putin to bring his terror to Germany.”

Only last week, holes were found cut into the fences of water facilities supplying two military bases in North Rhine-Westphalia, with concerns that someone has been seeking to contaminate supplies.

Germany is not the only European country being targeted by apparent acts of sabotage, but it has a lot of US military bases that were established in the wake of World War Two.

Mark Galeotti believes Moscow views Germany as a large but “flabby” power, making it the ideal pressure point.

By anyone’s measure, the greatest act of known sabotage to affect Germany in recent years was when the Nord Stream gas pipelines, running under the Baltic Sea from Russia, were blown up in 2022. Speculation over who ordered the attack has been rife ever since, but in a dramatic development Germany has now issued an arrest warrant for a Ukrainian diving instructor.

Last week the Wall Street Journal reported that the “shoestring” operation had been privately funded but overseen from Ukraine. Kyiv rejected the report as nonsense, and while there was always scepticism that President Putin would order the destruction of his own pipeline, it does show that the murky world of espionage can be full of twists and turns.

Each incident of apparent sabotage cannot, by any means, be immediately and certainly attributed to Russia.

In France it was far-left activists, not Russian agents, who were accused of targeting the country’s high-speed rail network on the eve of the Olympics. And Germany has had its own, extensive, history of far-left militant attacks.

The fact that Ukrainian figures are now under the spotlight for the Nord Stream blasts has fuelled fresh criticism from familiar political wings, within Germany, about the government’s support for Kyiv.

Co-leader of the far-right Alternative for Deutschland, Alice Weidel, has called for “aid payments” to Kyiv to be halted and the damage to Nord Stream “billed” to Ukraine. The AfD enjoys much of its support in the former communist east, where beyond Berlin you’re more likely to find lingering affection for Russia and dissatisfaction with the main parties that have, since reunification, dominated national politics.

Censored Study: Covid Shots Permanently Alter DNA of Vaxxed & Offspring
[SlayNews] A bombshell study, which is being widely censored by the corporate media and Big Tech, warns that Covid mRNA shots alter the DNA of recipients and their offspring.

Renowned cardiologist Dr. Peter McCullough has been attempting to raise the alarm about the study on social media.

McCullough reveals that the explosive study has been massively censored across Big Tech social media platforms, despite the dramatic impact that its findings could have on public health.

He focuses on LinkedIn’s censorship of the study.

The study was blocked from public view on LinkedIn and ignored by the corporate media despite being published by the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) National Library of Medicine.

The study documents how mRNA gene therapy vaccines such as the Covid shots permanently alter the genetics of the vaccinated.

Additionally, the study found that the progeny of the vaxxed are also affected via the insertion of mRNA into the human DNA.

"The Pfizer and Moderna genetic code is permanently installed into the human genome," McCullough said.

"So as we sit here today we have to reconcile that Pfizer and Moderna potentially could have permanently changed the human genome."

The eminent doctor also notes that conclusive research has not yet been conducted to confirm if the entire mRNA sequence is permanently incorporated into DNA.

McCullough said he hopes the body will edit out the mRNA from the injections.

However, he warns that there is a strong possibility that mankind has forever been fundamentally altered.

He referred to these permanent alterations of the human race as "very disturbing."

War correspondent Simonov on the situation in the Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of @brussinf

[ColonelCassad] Kursk Region

I spent the last two days at several command posts of one special forces unit.

The situation on their section of the front has relatively stabilized. The global advance of the enemy has been stopped.

But.

This does not mean that everything has suddenly become good. The situation remains very tense. The enemy is constantly counterattacking, literally 24/7. Ours are fighting back.

The line of combat contact is now very fluid, jagged in places. Enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups are active.

At the same time, some attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces border on recklessness. As we found out from prisoners, they have problems with communication, interaction and the classic "go there, there is no one there."

The situation with drones is the same as everywhere else - they fly like mosquitoes. Both "disposable" and hexacopters. It is very dangerous to travel on roads without electronic warfare. Moreover, from my feeling in terms of birds, it is more dangerous to drive here at night than during the day.

In general, everything is fine with artillery. There are nuances, but they have already been reported above. The shell consumption reaches up to a hundred per day. The enemy equipment burns well, brightly and in large quantities.

I don't know about the enemy's artillery, I haven't heard of its high activity. Of the large calibers, they mainly use tanks plus khimari.

I won't speculate on how long it will take to push out the enemy. Very intensive combat work is underway. People don't sleep for several days.

Keep your fingers crossed for them, believe in our army. We will win.

War correspondents reported the liberation of the village of New York in the DPR

Russian troops have driven all units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the village of New York in the DPR, military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok reported on August 18.

In the near future, the liberation of the settlement will be officially announced, Kotenok wrote in his Telegram channel.

"In the Toretsky direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been completely driven out of New York. There has been no official announcement from the Ministry of Defense yet. It is expected in the near future," the military correspondent noted.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 12, the adviser to the head of the DPR, Igor Kimakovsky, stated that simultaneously with the Russian army's offensive on Pokrovsk, military actions are developing in the area of the Toretsk agglomeration, which includes the settlement of New York and the settlements of Zaliznoye, Yuzhnoye and Severnoye. The enemy formations operating in this area have been operationally surrounded, he noted.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces expect the Russian military to occupy New York in the DPR soon, American journalist Christopher Miller said on the same day. According to this information, the liberation of the village could happen "even tomorrow."

Military observer of the German publication Bild Julian Röpke noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could end up in a cauldron southwest of Toretsk. According to him, a bulge has formed to the east of the settlement of New York in the DPR, and Russian troops continue to advance from the south through this settlement, as well as from the north.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' attempt to break through in the Kursk region has diverted attention from the main theater of military operations in Donbass, where the situation for Ukrainian troops is becoming critical, noted Regnum News Agency observer Sergei Adamov. The Russian Armed Forces, in particular, are successfully developing an offensive in the Toretsk direction, where, as in the Pokrovsk area, the Ukrainian Armed Forces remain without reinforcements and support, the expert noted.

Seismologists report risk of earthquake in Kamchatka with magnitude up to 9 points
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The probability of an earthquake with a magnitude of up to nine Richter points remains in Kamchatka within 24 hours. This was reported by the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“ There remains an increased probability of a strong earthquake of up to 9 points in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Elizovo, Vilyuchinsk and the village of Ust-Kamchatsk,” seismologists reported.

According to the institute, seismic energy has accumulated in the Avacha Bay area, sufficient for an earthquake of magnitude 8.5–8.7.

Moreover, the earthquake that occurred on August 18 could be a foreshock of a similar earthquake, or a more powerful one in the near future.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 was recorded off the coast of Kamchatka on the morning of August 18. Residents of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Vilyuchinsky urban districts, Yelizovsky and Ust-Kamchatsky districts felt tremors, the strength of which was estimated at five to seven points. The epicenter was located 108 km from the regional capital.

Later, the director of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Danila Chebrov, reported that aftershocks will continue for a long time in Kamchatka after the earthquake that occurred there.

There is a strong magnetic storm on Earth

On the evening of August 17, another magnetic storm began on Earth. It was assigned class G3 — strong (on a scale of five indicators). This was reported by Mikhail Leus, a specialist at the Phobos weather center,on the Telegram channel.

According to Leus, at first the geomagnetic field index corresponded to the level of an average magnetic storm of class G1.

“Then the disturbances in the geomagnetic field increased and at 20:46 Moscow time the magnetic storm became strong, class G3,” the specialist explained.

It is expected that a strong magnetic storm will last on Earth until at least midday on August 18, and possibly until the night of August 19.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, a powerful magnetic storm was recorded on Earth on August 12, threatening disruptions in energy and satellite systems, reported specialists from the Institute of Applied Geophysics (FGBU IPG).

A powerful explosion occurred on the Earth-facing side of the Sun on August 14, the Solar Astronomy Laboratory warned, specifying that the flare belongs to the highest class X. The point of the explosion is on the Sun-Earth line, in the center of the visible solar disk, from where the impact on the Earth became inevitable.

Chinese Scientists Have Come Up With a Way to Deliver Resources from the Moon to Earth
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Scientists from China have come up with a way to deliver resources from the Moon to Earth. This is reported by the local publication South China Morning Post.

Scientists from the Shanghai Research Institute of Satellite Engineering have proposed building a magnetic launcher on the Moon, through which resources mined on the surface of the Earth's satellite could be delivered to Earth in the future. According to them, using the unique environmental conditions on the Moon, namely high vacuum and low gravity, payloads could be sent twice a day. The cost of transportation would be about 10% of the cost of existing methods.

“Since the installation will only consume electricity and will not require fuel, it will be quite small in scale and easy to implement,” the scientists said.

They noted that the main objective will be to extract Helium-3 to help solve the energy crisis on Earth. The project will contribute to the development of technologies for extracting minerals in space, as well as heavy launch vehicles and artificial intelligence.

According to the publication, the system itself is designed for a service life of at least 20 years, while its weight will reach about 80 tons, so in order to deliver it to the Moon, it will be necessary to wait for the Chinese super-heavy launch vehicle to start operating.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 16, Roscosmos CEO Yuri Borisov allowed for industrial development of the Moon after the 2040s. He said that rare earth metals and helium are present in significant quantities among the minerals on the Moon.

On August 13, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, at a strategic session on the development of Russian space activities, announced that the federal project for the development of space nuclear energy will be aimed, among other things, at the production of means for the exploration of the Moon.

Current information on the situation on the front line: August 18 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 21:35 Telegram channel " Rybar ":

- Aleksandro-Kalinovskoye direction: advancement of the Russian Armed Forces in the Novgorodskoye area and to the southwest of Artemovo.

– Along with the problems in the Pokrovsky direction, a difficult situation for Ukrainian formations is also developing in the Aleksandro-Kalinovsky direction, where assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces have also managed to significantly expand the zone of control.

– Information about the successes of Russian troops in the Novgorodskoye (New York) area has appeared on the Internet. In particular, the territory of the Phenol Plant was taken, as well as the private sector to the east of the industrial zone. Thus, almost the entire settlement is under the confident control of the Russian Armed Forces, with the exception of the northern outskirts.

– To the north-east, near the city of Artemovo (Zheleznoye), Russian armored groups with landing troops attacked from the side of the Central-330 electrical substation in the direction of Nelepovka. According to unconfirmed information, fighting is already underway on the eastern outskirts of the settlement.

- In addition, to the southeast of Nelepovka, the "pocket" where the positions of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were located was partially cleared. Ukrainian formations brought reinforcements there to the south of the Zheleznaya River until the very end, but were later forced to retreat. Nevertheless, there may still be a focal presence of Ukrainian formations in this area.

- The current target of Russian troops in this area is Nelepovka, which is being attacked from both Artemovo and Novgorodskoye. After its liberation, the Russian Armed Forces will be able to concentrate their efforts on storming the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defenses in Leonidovka, Shcherbinovka and Petrovka. Establishing control over them will allow them to encircle Dzerzhinsk (Toretsk) from the west in the future.

20:44 The Russian Armed Forces have begun storming Nelipovka after liberating New York. Fighting is already underway on the outskirts of the village. There is also an advance in Dzerzhinsk. The enemy has announced the official evacuation of Selidovo and Krasnoarmeysk.

20:18 Zones of control and advance of the Russian Armed Forces – map:

– Adjustment of the front line, near Stelmakhovka and Rozovka

– Fighters of the Shtorm assault unit of the 1st Slavic Brigade raised the flag over the waste heap in Kirovo. The Russian Armed Forces also advanced in New York and near Artemovo.

It is reported that our crew of the MT-12 Rapier cannon destroyed the firing position of a 120mm Ukrainian Armed Forces mortar crew.

19:22 Telegram channel "Rybar":

Pokrovsk direction: advance of the Russian Armed Forces in several areas.

– While Ukrainian formations continue to attack in the Kursk region, the operational crisis of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsk direction has been steadily worsening over the past weeks. In a few days, units of the Russian Armed Forces were able to expand the zone of control in the direction of both Novogrodovka and the Karlovskoye Reservoir.

– To the northwest of Zhelannoye, Russian troops have occupied Zhuravka and have begun fighting in Kruty Yar. Apparently, the main target of the Russian Armed Forces in this area is the mine No. 3 “Novogrodovskaya”, located to the west, which is on a hill.

– To the south, the assault groups of the Russian Armed Forces have also expanded their control zone, but given the lack of objective control footage on the Internet, it is difficult to establish the front line. At the same time, here too, Russian servicemen are trying to break through to the Kotlyarevskaya mine (formerly Rossiya), which was previously used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a location for equipment and communications systems.

– There are also reports of Russian Armed Forces attack aircraft entering the outskirts of Selidovo, but it is not yet possible to confirm this information. The city itself has been hit by artillery several times, and FPV drones are already flying in to targets within the city limits.

– Russian troops managed to achieve significant success on the southern flank, where at least five settlements came under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Among them is Zavetnoye, from the center of which videos of the raising of the flag appeared.

– From the Novoselovka Pervaya – Yasnobrodovka line, units of the Russian Armed Forces have leveled the control zone along the shore of the Karlovskoye Reservoir. On the opposite side, Ukrainian formations still retain control over Ptychye.

– The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported the liberation of the village of Sviridonovka, located on the northern flank. However, according to our information, the village itself was occupied by units several days earlier.

- Over the past weeks, the situation of Ukrainian formations in the Pokrovsk direction has significantly worsened, and the general description of the situation for the enemy is often reduced to interjections. The scale of the advance of Russian troops also demonstrates the cost of the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

– At the same time, the Ukrainian command is already actively preparing Selidovo and Mirnohrad for defense in case of further advancement of the Russian Armed Forces – since August 19, a virtually round-the-clock curfew has been imposed in the cities, and reserves are being transferred there at the same time.

Liman direction: advance of the Russian Armed Forces in Makeyevka

– For a long time, positional battles have been going on in the Liman direction practically along the entire contact line. One of the most active areas remains Makeyevka, where Russian troops have been storming the enemy's defenses for two months.

– Nevertheless, due to the lack of objective control footage and information from the field, it was not possible to establish the current configuration of the front in the populated area. However, yesterday it was possible to clarify the situation somewhat after the enemy published a video from the enemy side.

– According to the footage that has appeared, units of the Russian Armed Forces have occupied most of Makeyevka, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding positions on the opposite bank of the Zherebets River – a further advance by Russian troops on the remaining part of the village will subsequently allow them to create a bridgehead from which they can increase pressure on the Nevskoye-Yampolovka line.

– In other areas, the situation has not changed significantly – in the Serebryanskoye forestry, in the vicinity of the Zhuravka gully, and in the salient near Torskoye, positional battles are underway. Russian troops periodically strike both enemy artillery and mobile electronic warfare systems.

15:44 Between 13:50 and 14:35 Moscow time, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using an aircraft-type UAV against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation was thwarted.

Six Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense systems on duty.

15:14 Russian artillerymen hit a mortar position of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the border area of the Kursk region – video.

As a result of aerial reconnaissance, a camouflaged enemy mortar position was discovered in one of the forest plantations. Having received all the necessary data and coordinates of the mortar section of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, artillery crews of the North troop group launched an attack and hit the enemy mortar position. The hit of the target was confirmed by objective control means.

14:35 The assault squad and units of the 3rd battalion of the 228th Motorized Rifle Regiment report that the settlements of Novozhelannoye and Zavetnoye have come under our control. The inhabitants have been cleared of the enemy.

13:57 Telegram channel "Rybar":

– Kursk direction: Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes on bridges and local battles.

- The situation in Kursk Oblast remains stably tense. The enemy is consolidating its positions in the occupied territory and amassing forces.

– In the Glushkovsky district, there are no attempts by the enemy to advance, but they are striking at populated areas. In addition, the condition of the bridge in Zvannoye after the recent landing has become clearer: judging by the footage, the object has received serious damage, but has not collapsed and may be suitable for use by pedestrians and, in some cases, light vehicles.

– There is no information about advances from either side from the Korenevsky and Sudzhansky districts. Fighting continues, and footage of the aftermath of strikes on Ukrainian equipment and captured members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is multiplying on the Internet. On the enemy side, in turn, videos are appearing that indicate control over settlements taken last week.

– In the Belovsky district, after the unsuccessful dash to Girya, the enemy is not taking active action – evidence of this, at least, does not appear in open sources.

– At the same time, Ukrainian formations are taking steps to consolidate their positions in the occupied territory of the Kursk region, bringing in both engineering equipment and air defense systems.

11:47 Sumy and Poltava regions.

It is reported that as a result of the night strike on military facilities, a parking lot of Ukrainian military equipment and a radar station were hit. Russian aviation used Kh-59 and Kh-69 missiles against enemy targets.

11:05 Advance of the Russian Armed Forces on the front lines – map :

– The Russian Armed Forces advanced south of Konstantinovka and took control of the Yuzhnodonbasskaya mine shaft.

– The Russian Armed Forces drove the enemy out of Zhuravka and Novozhelannoye.

10:43 During the past night, during an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using unmanned aerial vehicles against targets on the territory of the Russian Federation, five Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs were destroyed by the air defense systems on duty, two of which were shot down over the territory of the Belgorod region, one over the territory of the Kursk region, and two over the territory of the Rostov region.

10:14 Heavy blows to the enemy – video.

The footage shows combat work by crews of 152mm 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers and 152mm 2S5 Giatsint-S self-propelled guns of the Sever troop group while carrying out fire missions in the border area of the Kursk region.

During the execution of combat missions, artillerymen use high-explosive fragmentation ammunition, which is capable of damaging both manpower and armored vehicles of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Kursk direction: destruction of MLRS M-270 and battles in several areas of the front, which is known by the outcome of August 17, 2024

– Counter clashes continue in the Kursk direction. Russian troops destroyed an M270 MLRS near the settlement of Bezdrik in the Sumy region, which was discovered from the air and quickly covered with an Iskander OTRK missile with an air burst.– In the Glushkovsky district, there were no visible changes in the combat situation by the end of the day. Russian troops are holding positions in Tetkino. There were reports online about the Ukrainian Armed Forces entering the settlement of Otruba on the right bank of the Seim River, but there is no objective confirmation of this.

– In the Korenevsky district, information is again coming in about clashes on the approaches to Korenevo. Although the information is fragmentary in the best traditions, the battles themselves look logical in light of the attempts of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to capture the city.

– In Sudzhansky district, new footage from the western districts of the city has appeared, including the removal of Russian prisoners and captured hostages from among local residents in the direction of Sumy region. There are battles on the approaches to Martynivka, and south of Kremyane, FPV drone operators destroyed a Ukrainian BMP-1.

– In the Belovsky district, there are clashes between the settlements of Giri and Ozerki; there is no information about a change in the configuration of the front.

Adviser to Kursk Region Governor Calls for Punishment of Two Chechens for Looting
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Two soldiers in military uniform robbed a mobile phone store in the Kursk region, according to a video posted on social media. Two Chechens must answer for the looting, said an adviser to the governor of the Kursk region.

A video showing two bearded men in military uniform robbing a mobile phone store was published today by the Telegram channel "Typical Kursk".

One of the men in military uniform tries to kick down a door with a sign saying "special offer"; the door is located in a room with empty shelves. When this fails, he takes a fire extinguisher and repeatedly hits the lock with it. The lock doesn't give in, so another man in military uniform joins in, also continuing to hit the lock with a fire extinguisher. Then he collects the few items left on the display case, and the first one continues to hit the door again, but to no avail. Both collect everything that is left on the display case and carry it all out the window onto the street, and they themselves also leave through the window. At the same time, they talk to each other.

As follows from the video, the recording was made on August 17. The description of the video states that the communication salon is located in the village of Glushkovo.

Blogger Hasan Khalitov stated on his Telegram channel that the fighters in the video are "Alaudinov Apti from the Akhmat unit."

"Caucasian Knot" cannot confirm where and when the video was made.

Kursk Governor's Advisor Roman Alekhine admitted that the robbers were "two Chechens." However, he did not confirm the connection with the "Akhmat" unit. "The looters have a first and last name and each one should be held personally responsible for the crimes, and not the people or the entire unit should be held responsible for them. These two scumbags are already responsible!" Alekhine wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, anyone who put on the uniform of a Russian soldier, took an oath and then stole or destroyed the property of a Russian citizen, regardless of nationality, must answer under the laws of wartime! "Because they not only stole, they disgraced the uniform of our soldiers," he said.

By 23:05 Moscow time, the commander of the Akhmat special forces, Apti Alaudinov, had not commented on the video that had spread on social networks.

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot",  three signalmen and two riflemen of the "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit were captured in  the Kursk region, the commander of the "Akhmat" special forces, Apti Alaudinov, said on August 13. He emphasized that "not Kadyrov's men" were captured, fighters of the "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit, but of the "Akhmat" special forces, and added that for a Chechen there is nothing more shameful than captivity. The day before, he called reports of mass surrender of Chechen fighters "enemy plantings". The "Akhmat-Chechnya" unit consists of natives of the republic who are  not ready for combat  and are engaged in maintaining law and order. The combined battalion "Akhmat", which is commanded by Alaudinov, the so-called "Isa Army" ( the unit is called "Isa Army" in honor of Jesus Christ because many Orthodox fighters serve in it)   mainly consists of volunteers who arrived from different regions of Russia, as well as former "Wagnerites", there are few Chechens in it, analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" stated.

In June 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov reported on his Telegram channel that the 42nd division from Chechnya was in the SVO zone in the Zaporizhia direction. It includes 6 thousand Chechen soldiers from the Akhmat-Russia, Akhmat-Chechnya, Sever-Akhmat regiments, the Zapad-Akhmat, Vostok-Akhmat and Yug-Akhmat battalions. In March 2024, it became known that the Akhmat-Russia and Akhmat-Chechnya units were in the Bryansk and Kursk regions in the Sumy and Chernigov directions. According to the head of the republic, fighters from the Russian Guard Directorate for the Chechen Republic from the 94th and 96th regiments and the Akhmat-1 OMON were in the special military operation zone. The Akhmat special forces also carry out combat missions in Ukraine.

The Akhmat combined battalion (also called the Akhmat special forces) is part of the Russian National Guard, according to Kadyrov's November 2021 statement, in which he reported on the order of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation "On assigning names to special police units" of the Russian National Guard Directorate for the Chechen Republic. The Akhmat-Chechnya unit is part of the Russian Defense Ministry. This follows from a statement by the Grozny-Inform agency dated June 18, 2023, said military expert, associate professor of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, military political scientist  Alexander Perendzhiev.

Kam’s Disastrous Housing Rx
[NYPOST] ''Kamala Harris
Former Oakland mayor Willie Brown's' former mistress
's vague, bare-bones plan to making housing more affordable'' would make ''housing prices go up,'' explains National Review's Jim Geraghty.

Just look ''at how the federal government has tackled the high cost of higher education'': Its ''approach to expensive tuition costs has been to underwrite and offer more and more loans and grants.''

The result: Colleges increased ''the cost of tuition at twice the rate of inflation.''

Harris' plan for ''a $25,000 subsidy for first-time homebuyers'' would push prices up, ''probably about $25,000 per home, because buyers have more money in their pocket.''

And her ''push for the ‘first-ever federal ban' on food price hikes . . . at best would lead to shortages, black markets and hoarding, among other distortions.''

Caribbean-Latin America
Venezuelan opposition vows to fight ''to the end''
[NEWAGEBD] Venezuela's opposition, claiming victory in presidential elections they say were stolen by strongman Nicolas Maduro, gathered in the thousands in Caracas and elsewhere on Saturday, vowing to fight 'to the end.'

People rallied in several cities in Venezuela

...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south...

and as far afield as Spain, Belgium and Australia in response to a call by opposition leader Maria Corina Machado to join a 'Protest for the Truth.'

Machado herself came out of hiding to lead a rally in the capital, seeking to intensify pressure on Maduro to concede what she and others say was an overwhelming win for opposition candidate Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia in July 28 polls.

'We won't leave the streets,' Machado told thousands of demonstrators, many of whom waved the national flag and copies of election records from their voting stations as proof of an opposition victory.

'Peaceful protest is our right,' she said as demonstrators chanted 'Liberty! Liberty!' and clamored to get as near as possible to the wildly popular politician.

Authorities later confiscated the open-top truck that Machado uses as a stage at rallies, including on Saturday, according to an X post from her Comando Con Venezuela alliance.

Venezuela's National Electoral Council proclaimed Maduro the winner of a third six-year term until 2031, giving him 52 per cent of votes cast but without providing a detailed breakdown of the results.

The opposition says polling station-level results show Gonzalez Urrutia took more than two-thirds of the vote.

He had replaced Machado on the ballot after she was barred from running by institutions loyal to the regime.

'This is a criminal government that wants to hold on to power. I smell freedom, I have nothing to fear,' demonstrator Adriana Calzadilla, a 55-year-old teacher, said in Caracas, where National Guard officers and police were out in force.

Another, 42-year-old economist Iliana Alvarean, conceded that she did 'feel fear.'

'One does not stop feeling it, because of the repression. But we want him (Maduro) out. We are here to the end.'

No incidents were reported from the rallies, which took place under heavy security.

Maduro on Saturday accused Gonzalez Urrutia, who last appeared in public at a protest on July 30, of trying to flee the country.

'He's hiding in a cave. And he's preparing his escape from Venezuela. Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia is taking the money and going to Miami,' Maduro told supporters at a rally outside the Miraflores presidential palace.

He has called for Machado and Gonzalez Urrutia to be arrested, accusing them of seeking to foment a 'coup d'etat.'

Gonzalez Urrutia was defiant in a post on X earlier in the day: 'We have the votes, the records, the support of the international community and Venezuelans determined to fight. It is time for an orderly transition.'

Anti-Maduro protests have claimed 25 lives so far, with nearly 200 injured and more than 2,400 arrested since election day.

At one of the first overseas demonstrations to get underway Saturday, more than 100 Venezuelans in Australia rallied in Sydney.

Thousands more protested across Spain, host to about 2,80,000 of the nearly eight million Venezuelans to have fled their country as the economy collapsed on the watch of Maduro, in office since 2013.

There were also rallies in Colombia, Mexico and Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
where 34-year-old Andreina Escalante said 'we have faith that we will get out of the dictatorship.'
