Government Corruption
BREAKING: Jack Smith Brings ANOTHER Indictment Against Trump
[PJMedia] Here we go again. On Tuesday afternoon, special counsel Jack Smith filed a new indictment against Trump related to alleged interference in the 2020 election.
Filing indictments against President Trump is what he was hired to do: with great fanfare, keep throwing spaghetti against the wall in the hope that some of it will stick long enough to prevent Trump from winning the election in November.
"Today, a federal grand jury in the District of Columbia returned a superseding indictment, ECF No. 226, charging the defendant with the same criminal offenses that were charged in the original indictment," Smith wrote in a filing notice. "The superseding indictment, which was presented to a new grand jury that had not previously heard evidence in this case, reflects the Government’s efforts to respect and implement the Supreme Court’s holdings and remand instructions in Trump v. United States."

According to the Justice Department website, "If an indictment is dismissed because of legal defect or grand jury irregularity, the government may return a new indictment within six months of the date of dismissal or within the original limitation period (whichever is later). After the original limitation period has expired, a superseding indictment may narrow, but not broaden, the charges made in the original indictment."

The narrowed indictment reflects last month's Supreme Court ruling that granted presidents wide immunity from prosecution for actions taken while in office. That ruling sent the case back to the lower court for adjudication.

Among other things, the new indictment removes the charge that Trump sought to use the Department of Justice to overturn the election—something the Supreme Court explicitly singled out in Trump v. United States.

"Because the President cannot be prosecuted for conduct within his exclusive constitutional authority, Trump is absolutely immune from prosecution for the alleged conduct involving his discussions with Justice Department officials," the justices wrote.

According to Smith, "The Government does not oppose waiver of the defendant’s appearance for arraignment on the superseding indictment. As this Court directed, ECF No. 197, the Government will confer with the defense and make a joint proposal, to the extent possible, regarding pretrial litigation in the status report due Friday."
How is this fucker still drawing breath, let alone a paycheck?
He is a creature of the Deep State, which protects its own.

US Soldier to Plead Guilty to Desertion to NK
[Newsmax] File under "Dumbshit"
A U.S. soldier who fled to North Korea last year will plead guilty to desertion at a court martial as part of a plea deal, his lawyer said.

Private Second Class Travis King ran across the border from South Korea into the North in July last year while on a sightseeing tour of the Demilitarized Zone that divides the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea expelled King in September and the US Army later charged him with desertion and a raft of other crimes.

King's lawyer Frank Rosenblatt said Monday the U.S. Army had charged the soldier with 14 offenses and that he would plead guilty to five of them.

"He will plead guilty to five of those, including desertion, 3 counts of disobeying an officer, and assault on a noncommissioned officer," Rosenblatt said in a statement.

"He will plead not guilty to the remaining offenses, which the Army will withdraw and dismiss."

King's guilty plea and sentencing hearing would take place on Sept. 20 at a court martial in Fort Bliss, Texas, the lawyer said.

"There, he will explain what he did, answer a military judge's questions about why he is pleading guilty, and be sentenced," Rosenblatt said.

Desertion carries a jail sentence of up to five years.

"Travis is grateful to his friends and family who have supported him, and to all those outside of his circle who did not pre-judge his case based on the initial allegations," his lawyer said.

At the time of the incident, King had been stationed in South Korea and after a drunken bar fight and a stay in South Korean jail, he was meant to fly back to Texas to face disciplinary hearings.

Instead of traveling to Fort Bliss, he walked out of the Seoul-area airport, joined a DMZ sightseeing trip and slipped over the fortified border where he was detained by the communist North's authorities.

Pyongyang had said that King had defected to North Korea to escape "mistreatment and racial discrimination in the US Army."

But after completing its investigation, North Korea "decided to expel" King in September for illegally intruding into its territory.

King's border crossing occurred with relations between the two Koreas at a low point, with diplomacy stalled and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un calling for increased weapons development, including tactical nuclear warheads.

IDF rescues Israeli-Bedouin hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi from Hamas captivity in Rafah
[Jpost] The IDF and the Shin Bet on Tuesday early afternoon rescued Israeli-Bedouin hostage Qaid Farhan Alkadi from southern Gaza, who was held by Hamas since October 7 from Mivtachim in the South.

The operation was led by Division 162, Brigade 401, the Nahal Brigade. Yahalom anti-tunnel special forces, along with the Shayetet 13 naval commandos.

Alkadi, age 52, from Rahat, is a father to 11 children.

Alkadi is healthy and is undergoing further health checks at Soroka Medical Center.

The IDF said that they had already gathered some intelligence from Alkadi both in the field and at Soroka.

IDF Chief Spokesman Daniel Hagari refused to share any details about the battle to free the hostage and how many Hamas forces it confronted, potentially suggesting that there are additional goals that may be achieved on an ongoing basis later Tuesday.

Questioned whether Alkadi partially succeeded in escaping on his own, though with later aid by the IDF, Hagari did not deny the possibility but did not confirm it and warned about informational security.

It is the fourth successful operation to rescue live Israeli hostages from Hamas, though there have been several successful operations finding and returning dozens of bodies of hostages killed by Hamas.

He is the eighth live hostage rescued from Gaza, which brings the number of remaining hostages down to 108 from an original round of 250.

Alkadi is the first live hostage to be rescued from a tunnel, with all prior live hostage rescues taking place above ground.

Suspicious fires ignite major California freeway shut down by arson last year
[JustTheNews] The Los Angeles Fire Department estimates that 80% of fires downtown and 54% citywide that it responds to are caused by homeless individuals
and all riverbed fires
(The Center Square) - A series of fires with “potentially suspicious starts” disrupted traffic on a busy California freeway near where an enormous fire shut down that same freeway for days last year.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said there were several fires near one small section of the I-10 freeway between the ocean and downtown Los Angeles, and, according to KTLA, called the fires “suspicious” without outright calling them arson.

Last year, items stored under the same freeway burned so hot the freeway — which connects Los Angeles’ job centers to its far-flung housing — was shut down for eight days.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom blamed arson for that fire and issued a surveillance photograph of a person of interest, but no announcement was ever made on whether or not the culprit was caught or the results of the final investigation.

City of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass’s office did not respond to a request for information on the 2023 case by the time of publication.

The Los Angeles Fire Department estimates that 80% of fires downtown and 54% citywide that it responds to are caused by homeless individuals.

Beach town police issue ultimatum to homeless people on boardwalk: ‘Might be a catch-22’

[FoxNews] Long Beach, California, makes move after Gov Gavin Newsom told officials to take down encampments.

Long Beach, California, will begin fining and potentially arresting homeless people to combat its most "problematic" encampments, city officials said.

The decision comes after the Supreme Court ruled, 6-3, that cities can ban people from sleeping and camping in public places and arrest them – even in the absence of public shelters – overturning lower court rulings that deemed the practice cruel and unusual punishment under the Eighth Amendment if the person had nowhere else to sleep.

Following the highest court's June decision, Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a directive ordering state officials to take down homeless encampments. Earlier this month, Newsom took to the streets to clean garbage left by homeless encampments.

Now, Long Beach is the latest municipality to announce its intention to follow that order.

City officials said they plan to target encampments that pose a public threat or block access to libraries, beaches and parks, according to the memo. It will also identify encampments where people have repeatedly declined to accept offers for shelter.

Public works teams for the city have responded to 3,200 encampments in the last year, according to the memo. But city officials did not disclose the cost of citations or the amount of jail time those who ignore citations could face.

On Thursday, Los Angeles sanitation workers followed suit at Dockweiler State Beach, according to the California Globe, ignoring County Supervisors' public opposition to the order.

California legal experts interviewed by Fox News Digital are hopeful but were unconvinced that the new executive order will make a difference.

"The idea [that] they're going to jail people for being homeless is laughable," criminal attorney David Wohl said. "In L.A. county where those jails are located, I've had clients sentenced on felony cases to 120 days in jail, and they are released the next day."

"The crowding in L.A. county jails is so increased that no one will be jailed for homelessness," he continued.

Moreover, he said, "[W]hen those fines aren't paid, what are you going to do?"

Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell questioned Newsom's motive in issuing the executive order.

"I’m old enough to remember that Gavin Newsom had a plan to deal with homelessness; that was in 2008," he told Fox News Digital. "Why now? Is it [because it's an] election year?"

Terrell also recalled Newsom's invitation to California for the world's homeless population in 2021, when he pledged to house and feed them all, according to the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Delivery apps DoorDash, Uber Eats infiltrated by Venezuelan migrants
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Hundreds of Venezuelan migrants are illegally working as food delivery drivers across America, DailyMail.com can reveal, showing up to your door under names and identities that don't belong to them.

The troubling development is a consequence of the one million Venezuelan citizens who have flooded into the US, largely illegally, during President Joe Biden's time in office, with many entering through the US-Mexico border.

It raises huge concerns about the safety of the home delivery apps and the consumer's ability to trust who is actually delivering food to their home and family - with customers' personal information potentially placed in the hands of dangerous street gangs.

Venezuelans tell DailyMail.com they gravitated toward the jobs because they're an easy way to make money when they first arrive in the US.

'Before I even left Venezuela to come here, I knew I could rent an account that wasn't mine to work in food delivery,' one South American migrant who works as a DoorDash driver in Dallas, Texas, explained.

While he is authorized to work and be in the US, he didn't want to be associated with crime and asked that his name be withheld.

'As soon as you arrive to the US, the first thing you do is look for a way to make money, and for many of us, that's food delivery,' he added.

But many brazenly rent or sell their food delivery app accounts on Facebook.

The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) area is now home to at least 20,000 Venezuelans, most of whom have arrived since 2021.

New arrivals know it's as easy as joining Facebook groups for Venezuelans in DFW to start earning cash as a food delivery driver - albeit for a fee.

On a daily basis, migrants seeking to rent out their delivery app accounts make their pitch on the social network.

'Who's renting a DoorDash account?' posted one woman to the 'Venezuelan Friends in Dallas, Tx' group on Facebook.

In some cases, migrants are in the US legally and have permits to work. In others, they do not yet have a work permit - a process that can take a few weeks or months- even with legal entry.

And other Venezuelans are here illegally and working illegally.

Others charge desperate-to-work illegal newcomers to use their accounts, without concern for the potential threat to public safety, let alone the illegality of it all.

'I rent my Uber account. Message me privately if someone in Fort Worth is interested,' another man posted.

DailyMail.com contacted several people who were advertising use of their food delivery and ride-share accounts.

Most immediately asked a reporter to contact them through WhatsApp, an encrypted messaging app, or called back on the phone to discuss details of how it works so as not to leave behind text message proof of the illicit arrangement.

'I rent and sell. The rental is $150 a week and you must keep it active for three months continuously, and if you want to buy it it's $900, OK?' the mystery man told DailyMail.com in Spanish.

At an arepa restaurant in Villa Dallas, the Venezuelan enclave in Dallas, migrants confirmed that this is an 'incredibly common practice' and called the rental fees 'extortion'.

'For $150 a month, you're just working to keep someone else's account active. It's extortion,' he said, asking to remain unnamed for fear that criminal organizations might be behind the account rentals.

Many voices in the Venezuelan community fear that could be the case, as the notorious super gang Tren de Aragua from their homeland has also arrived in the US.

Venezuela's most violent gang Tren de Aragua has moved its headquarters to just across the US border in the Mexican town of Ciudad Juarez.

In a startling and surprising admission, the Dallas Police Department confirmed Tren De Aragua is in North Texas committing crimes, but wouldn't say whether it is involved in food deliveries.

'We have had gang activity in the north Dallas area linked to the Tren De Aragua gang from Venezuela,' a police spokeswoman told DailyMail.com.

'Our department is collaborating with other agencies to address possible crimes linked to this and other gangs in our city.'

Unauthorized use of these accounts has already created victims.

Neither [Uber nor DoorDash] app was able to explain how so many migrants are able to get around these layers of security.

Fifth Column
Extreme rhetoric in New York mosques as imams call for destruction of Israel, praise Hamas
[NY Post] A Brooklyn Muslim cleric who once partnered with New York Mayor Eric Adams on a campaign to end hate is now spreading it by calling for the annihilation of Israel, The Post has learned.

Meanwhile, one of his counterparts at a mosque in the Bronx has taken to blasting “Zionist Hollywood” and Christians for packing their churches with LGBTQ worshippers, whom he claims they are recruiting to bolster dwindling congregations.

As the Israeli war against Hamas in Gaza continues, imam Sheikh Muhammad Al-Barr, called on Allah at his Bay Ridge mosque to “liberate Palestine from the occupiers and the plunderers” during a Friday service earlier this month.

“Oh Allah, annihilate those who occupied their lands, and those who betrayed and deserted them, and those who spilled their blood,” Al-Barr said in Arabic August 12 at the Islamic Society of Bay Ridge’s Masjid ibn Umair.

The video of Al-Barr’s sermon was posted last week by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), a think tank that features human rights activist Natan Sharansky and lawyer and former diplomat Stuart Eizenstat, among other religious leaders on their board of advisors.

Al-Barr, whose last name is also spelled “Elbar,” also said that “the mujahideen [Hamas fighters] in Gaza are achieving more than our Arab armies could in 1967 and 1973,” a reference to the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War, respectively.

“Muhammad Al-Barr explains how…Hamas managed to do what the Arab armies of Egypt and Syria …did not do in 1967 and 1973,” said Yigal Carmon, president and founder of MEMRI in an interview with The Post Monday.

“He ignores one thing: How Hamas used the population as human shields…The imam shows total support for a terrorist organization in the heart of New York and totally ignores how October 7 began.”

Adams joined forces with the Bay Ridge mosque and a host of elected officials in April 2017 in a campaign to combat hate against the Muslim community. At the time he was Brooklyn Borough President.

“Any attack on one religious life is an attack on all religious ways of life,” said Adams in comments at a prayer service at the Bay Ridge mosque. “Right here in the borough, we have a welcome mat for all groups.”

It is unclear if Adams has since had any contact with Al-Barr. In response to a request for comment a spokesperson said: “The mayor has been abundantly clear that hate has no place in our city, whether it be antisemitism, Islamophobia, or any other form of bigotry.

The pro-Hamas comments in Bay Ridge came three days after an imam at the Islamic Center of Rockland County called for “the destruction of the Zionist Jews,” according to a translation by MEMRI TV.

The Rockland County mosque apologized for the visiting imam’s sermon following complaints from local Jewish groups and elected officials.

“On August 9, during a sermon at our masjid, a guest imam delivered several hurtful statements that included a prayer to God for the destruction of Zionist Jews as part of the conflict in Gaza,” the Islamic Center said in a statement.

“We unequivocally condemn these statements. We sincerely apologize for any pain caused by these remarks and will ensure that our platform is not used to promote these types of harmful messages going forward.”

In a live stream at the Muslim America Society’s Bronx Muslim Center in July, an unidentified imam said that Christians and Jews were jealous of Muslims, and that Christians were forced to allow LGBTQ into churches to bolster their numbers.

“My brothers and sisters, they have reasons to be jealous of us,” the imam continued. “We are the best of nations, those Jews ain’t it anymore…They can’t see that slaughtering innocent children, men and women is wrong. [They say] ‘We’re looking for the terrorists.’ Meanwhile they are the terrorists. May Allah destroy our enemies.”

The Bronx imam also warned the congregation against the “Zionist owned” entertainment industry in Hollywood — “all these musicians of yours have contracts with these Zionists” — and warned against taking children to Disney amusement parks.

“There is a subtext to this imam in the Bronx claiming Christians are turning to ‘LGBT’ congregants as the churches lose support,” said Sam Westrop, director of the Middle East Forum’s Islamist Watch project.

“He and other Islamists across America worry that American Islam has suffered years of dilution from embracing leftist allies too tightly. Now they fear Islamic youth across the country are increasingly embracing ‘LGBT’ and other ‘progressivist’ phenomena as well. Their duplicitous radicalism has backfired.”

The Muslim American Society, a Washington DC-based non-profit which oversees the Bronx Muslim Center, did not return a request for comment Monday, nor did the Islamic Society of Bay Ridge.

Butler, PA counter-sniper speaks out
[MAIL] A SWAT counter-sniper who was working the Trump rally in Pennsylvania where a gunman opened fire has issued a damning verdict on the FBI's alleged evidence tampering.

Washington Regional SWAT counter-sniper Ben Shaffer admitted that it was 'absolutely' concerning that the roof of the AGR International building where gunman Thomas Matthew Crook, 20, was cleaned quickly after the July 13 assassination attempt.

He also agreed with Republican lawmakers that it was suspicious that Crooks' body was disposed of before an official autopsy could be released at a panel discussion hosted by the Heritage Foundation on Monday.

Skipping down:

Erik Prince, a former Navy SEAL who founded Blackwater in the late 1990s, then said: 'It sounds like destruction of evidence.'

Ranking Member Jason Crowe (D-Colo.), who served as an Army Ranger in Iraq and Afghanistan, also claimed the many 'lines of sight that appeared to have been unsecured that day.'

Afghanistan
House GOP lets military off the hook for Afghanistan debacle
[Washington Examiner] The Republican-led congressional committee tasked with seeking answers and accountability for America’s defeat in the war in Afghanistan has instead sought to let the generals who lost the war off the hook.

Chairman Michael McCaul and the House Foreign Affairs Committee have been investigating the Biden-Harris Administration’s disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, but, as part of that inquiry, McCaul decided to absolve U.S. military commanders of responsibility. I recently resigned as a senior investigator on the Committee in part because I believe it is incontrovertible that military brass like General Mark Milley and General Frank McKenzie share blame for what went wrong in August 2021. McCaul doesn’t agree. He is wrong.

McCaul’s deliberate decision to deflect from the failures of U.S. military commanders is perhaps best illustrated by a phone call McCaul had with Milley and McKenzie just ahead of the Committee’s public hearing with them.

"I’m trying to protect you a little bit," McCaul told McKenzie on that call (as I openly took notes), alluding to the righteous indignation of the Gold Star families at the military’s lack of candor.

McCaul told the generals at the start of the call, conducted on speakerphone in his private office, that he had told other members of Congress that he would "use the gavel" if any of the congressional questions did not "show proper respect" to Milley and McKenzie.

The Chairman also previewed to the generals all the questions he planned on asking them — telling them he was doing so "so there are no surprises." Can you imagine a prosecutor helping a defendant prepare for his defense? Well, that’s exactly what former federal prosecutor McCaul did.

#2  First of all, Trump gave the leadership a 'warning order' about to pull out of Afghanistan. That meant you better be making plans for an orderly withdraw. The senior leadership disobeyed the C-in-C, running their own show. When Biden took office, that plan should have been sitting there ready to execute. Instead it was a 'chinese fire drill' execution.

New Study Explores How Food Choices Shape Mental Health
[ET via ZERO] A study out of the University of Reading has found that a poor-quality diet may be associated with changes in the brain structure that are linked to depression and anxiety. This research provides new insights into the connection between what we eat and our mental well-being.

While the authors did not find a direct association between brain changes and anxiety or depression, they did see an increase in rumination, a common risk factor of the two.

The study is the first to examine the relationship between diet quality and brain neurochemistry in humans. Thirty adults were divided into two groups based on whether they followed a high- or low-quality diet. Participants in both groups were similar in age, gender, education, income, and caloric and macronutrient intake.

The quality of the diet was defined by adherence to the Mediterranean diet. Participants reported how frequently they ate 130 different food items, their consumption frequency, and food intake habits. Screening questionnaires were administered to assess current depression, anxiety, and rumination levels. Whole brain MRI scans measured prefrontal cortex metabolite concentrations and gray matter volume.

The Red Revolution: Chicago to Open State-Run Grocery Stores
[ZeroHedge] Via Chicago Sun Times (emphasis added):

Chicago could fill its “food desert” with a three-store network of city-owned grocery stores for an upfront cost of $26.7 million, a consultant has concluded.
Three whole stores? Golly. It will be amusing when they are raided into non-existence by the professional shoplifting gangs, just like the private shops.
The new 200-page report from HR&A concludes Mayor Brandon Johnson’s plan to open a city-owned grocery store is “necessary, feasible and implementable.”

Necessary because volatility in the grocery market has led to a wave of consolidations and store closings concentrated in South and West Side neighborhoods.

Feasible because the city need not become a store operator, but instead could act to limit the risk for a private operator.

Implementable because the city’s “significant land ownership, funding tools,” storage and “community engagement capacity” makes it “well-positioned” to provide “support and resources to an established operator.””

North Korea Debuts Suicide Drone Program
[Breitbart] North Korea revealed its first allegedly indigenous suicide drones and other combat vehicles on Monday in an article on communist dictator Kim Jong-un attending a drone performance test this weekend.

Kim emphasized that, for Pyongyang, “it is necessary to develop and produce more suicide drones of various types to be used in tactical infantry and special operation units,” according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

Suicide drones, also known as loitering munitions, are explosives-carrying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that work by identifying a target and flying into it, detonating its payload. The most high-profile model of suicide drone currently in use is the Iranian “Shahed” class of drones, which Ukraine has accused Russia of deploying on its territory and Tehran itself unsuccessfully used to target Israel in April. The appeal of such drones is their relatively inexpensive manufacturing process, even compared to the famously cheap Bayraktar Turkish drone that Ukraine has incorporated into its anti-Russia efforts.

KCNA reported on Monday that Kim considers the development and mass manufacture of suicide drones a critical part of the defense of the nation from any potential South Korean or American attack. The outlet offered few details on what kinds of UAVs were present at the event the dictator attended, except to claim that all drone tests were successful.

Caribbean-Latin America
Report: Russia Running Spy Center in Nicaraguan Military Base
Good to know.
[Breitbart] The Nicaraguan newspaper Confidencial reported on Sunday that Russia established a spy center in one of Nicaragua’s military bases under the auspices of the country’s communist regime.

Confidencial, citing unnamed sources in the Nicaraguan military, warned in its report that the communist regime uses the spy base’s systems to monitor embassies and detect possible “traitors” of dictator Daniel Ortega.

The Russian spy base is reportedly housed in an Army base located in Mount Mokorón, south of the capital city of Managua. The base, known as “Unit 502,” is part of the Nicaraguan Army’s Directorate of Military Intelligence and Counterintelligence (DICIM). According to Confidencial, DICIM processes information received by the Army’s radio direction-finding systems that “geographically locates telephone, television, or radio signals generated in the radioelectric spectrum, as part of the national defense strategy.”

The newspaper claimed that Russia turned the base into one of its main spy centers over several years and that Russian personnel are the only ones who control and manipulate both the equipment and the information obtained, while Nicaraguan officials provide “security” at the base.

The sources explained that the Russian soldiers in the spy base are accompanied by a Nicaraguan lieutenant colonel who serves as a translator to “guide and train” Nicaraguan soldiers.

“The installation and start-up of the Russian spy equipment was supervised by Brigadier General Leonel Gutiérrez López, head of the DICIM,” Confidencial stated, citing the unnamed sources.

One of the sources further explained to Confidencial that Russia installed antennas and other espionage equipment in several Nicaraguan military bases in mid-2017 — the same year that the Ortega regime inaugurated a Russia-Nicaragua Anti-Narcotics Training Center in Managua.

In September 2023, during the 44th anniversary of the Nicaraguan Police, Ortega admitted that the anti-narcotics training center built by Russia helped implement his regime crackdown on dissidents during the 2018 wave of anti-communist protests, when thousands took to the streets to demand an end of the Ortega regime’s decades-long authoritarian rule of Nicaragua. The Ortega regime’s repressive response to the protests left over 300 dead.

Four Russian officers who were the only ones who understood the spy equipment, the source further pointed out, directed the antenna installation process. Nicaraguan officers and soldiers carried out the construction works.

The alleged Russian-run spy center in Mokorón received one such “giant” satellite dish at the end of 2017 alongside other Russian-made equipment installed on one of the base’s surrounding buildings. According to Confidencial, the base now features five antennas.

The base’s original “giant” antenna, one of the sources explained, is “similar” to one installed in the ground station of the Global Navigation Satellite System (Glonass), a base located at the slopes of the Nejapa Lagoon in the outskirts of Managua. The base is believed to also serve as a Russian intelligence center in Nicaragua.

“Everyone talks about the base in Nejapa, but the real Russian espionage center is in Mokorón. Few know of the existence of that satellite dish,” one of the sources told Confidencial.

The newspaper listed eight other locations across the country where the Nicaraguan Army has antennas and other radio listening systems in addition to the Russian spy center in Mount Mokorón, which acts as a coordination center.

The sources warned that Russia provided the listening stations with the SORM-3 software that allows the facilities to spy and listen to the communications of their “targets,” as well as those of the Ortega regime’s “internal enemies.”

Russia has noticeably increased its support to Nicaragua in the past few years, particularly for for the espionage and repression of dissidents following the 2018 wave of anti-communist protests. In March, Ortega authorized the establishment of a Russian-made “Instruction Center” for the “retraining and professional improvement” of the Nicaraguan police that experts have denounced as a possible “cover-up” for another prospective Russian spy agency in the country.

The announcement of the new alleged instruction center occurred weeks after Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolái Pátrushev’s visited Managua in February to sign several agreements with dictator Ortega, including a “cooperation protocol” agreement between Nicaragua’s police and Russia’s Interior Ministry to have Russia “retrain” Nicaraguan police officers to bolster the Ortega regime’s repressive capabilities.

Fury in historic northeast city as officials axe school buses for American kids but run them for MIGRANTS
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Parents in a Boston exurb have reacted angrily to revelations that schools are axing buses for local children — but keeping them running for the kids of migrants and asylum seekers.

Some 150 students at Stoughton Public Schools are scrambling to find ways to get to school from September 4, after the district cut services due to a lack of funding.

Controversially, the hundreds of migrant and asylum seeker families living in the town of Stoughton will still get school-buses, thanks to funding from the state.

The scrapping of buses for local kids comes amid fears that Massachusetts is going broke and will lose $1.8 billion over the next two years due to migrant costs.

Boston radio host Jeff Kuhner said the Democrat-run state was 'prioritizing illegals over citizens' and that the busing change amounted to 'treason.'

Christian nurse is FIRED by [TX] hospital after blowing whistle on trans-affirming care for children
That belief is not an exclusively Christian one, O Daily Mail reporter. Nor is it a marker of membership in the ignorant lower classes — as we know, there are plenty of doctors who agree with the lady.
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The Christian nurse who blew the whistle on Texas Children's Hospital allegedly using federal funding for gender-affirming care has been fired.

Vanessa Sivadge, 31, announced on social media that the hospital unlawfully fired her on August 16 - months after putting her on leave.

The hospital at the time cited 'things [she] shared publicly' as its justification for putting Sivadge on leave after journalist Christopher Rufo published her allegations that the hospital charged Medicaid to cover minors' cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers against state law.

She now says her claims about the hospital, and a religious accommodation request to transfer out of the endocrinology clinic - where she claims she was forced into the 'indirect participation in the care of children on cross-sex hormones' - contributed to the hospital's decision to fire her.

'This is unlawful for two reasons: It is retaliation for my coming forward with information on TCH's egregious pattern of deception and Medicaid fraud, and this action also illegally disregarded my request to transfer due to my belief that these procedures bring irreversible harm and lifelong regret to children confused about their sex,' she argued.

on Sunday.

The Israel Defense Forces also issued new evacuation orders for a portion of the designated humanitarian zone, while reports in Gaza said a number of Paleostinians were killed in Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s.

The military announced on Sunday the deaths of two IDF soldiers — Staff Sgt. Amit Tsadikov, 20, who was killed fighting in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis a day earlier, and Master Sgt. (res.) Shlomo Yehonatan Hazut, 36, who was killed earlier in the day in Gaza City.

Their deaths bring Israel’s toll in the offensive against Hamas to 340, while Tsadikov was the 700th fallen soldier recognized by the IDF since the start of the terror group’s October 7 onslaught on southern Israel. By Sunday evening, that figure had already risen to 702, after a sailor was also killed amid the Hezbollah attack in the north.

According to an initial IDF probe, an bomb killed Tsadikov, a Beit Dagan resident who served in the Paratroopers Brigade’s 202nd Battalion.

Hazut, of the Jerusalem Brigade’s 9207th Battalion, from Ashdod, was hit by an bomb planted on a road in Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, the IDF said. Another soldier was seriously maimed in the incident.

Separately, a soldier in the Combat Engineering Corps’ 601st Battalion was seriously maimed fighting in southern Gaza and brought to a hospital for treatment, the IDF said.

Also Sunday, the IDF issued a call for Paleostinians in a small section of the Israeli-designated humanitarian zone in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah to evacuate.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had thought to pack sun block...
an AFP correspondent reported strikes and shelling in Gaza City, in the Strip’s north. Rescuers said at least three people were killed. Witnesses told AFP that battles also raged in the area of Deir al-Balah, farther south.

Wafa, the Paleostinian Authority’s official news agency, said three more people were killed and dozens injured in a dronezap near Deir al-Balah’s al-Anan Stadium. The agency reported artillery fire and dronezaps on the nearby Bureij refugee camp as well.

According to Wafa, Israel also fired artillery on Gaza City’s southeastern Zeitoun neighborhood and launched airstrikes on the al-Oyoun junction, west of the city.

Sudan''s top military leader visits site of collapsed dam
[AFRICANEWS] Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's top military leader, General Abdel-Fattah Burhan, met on Sunday with locals and first responders at the site of a dam collapse in the northeast of the country

The Arbaat Dam north of Port Sudan burst following torrential rain in the area, washing away farms and villages downstream.

Amr Eissa Taher, the head water resources official for the Red Sea state said the damage was extensive.

A local official told the Sudanese news site al-Tagheer that at least 60 people may be dead with many more missing.

The health ministry says resources have been deployed to the area to help people who have been stranded.

It is the latest disaster to hit Sudan, which has been ravaged by war since April last year when fighting broke out between the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

Millions of people have been forced from their homes by the fighting and several of the country's states have declared famine.

The extreme weather conditions will only exacerbate food shortages.

The dam was the main water supply for Port Sudan which has become the de facto administrative capital since fighting overtook Khartoum.

Nasrallah's ‘Downfall' moment is rhetoric vs reality - comment
[JPost] If a major military attack is severely depleted due to the enemy striking first, one would be far-stretched to state that it went "as planned"

In the fantastic Oscar-winning movie Downfall, which depicts Adolf Hitler’s last few days in his Berlin bunker, a brilliant scene plays out when the German generals discuss what is taking place. The Russians are only a few hundred meters from the German Chancellory, and the Fuhrer is demanding divisions move left, right, and center to keep up the defense of Berlin.

Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel: The Fuhrer has lost all sense of reality.

Generaloberst Alfred Jodl: He moves divisions that only exist on his map. Steiner's scattered unit can hardly defend itself, and yet, Steiner is ordered to attack! It's pure madness!

This scene was brought to mind recently when listening to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah describe the terror group’s attack on Israel "as planned," refuting the Israeli military's assertions that their pre-emptive strikes had prevented a more extensive attack.

If a major military attack is severely depleted due to the enemy striking first, one would be far-stretched to state that it went "as planned."
The editorialist is over-punctilious, methinks. All of the planned missiles were loaded into their launchers, as planned, launch crews were standing by, as planned, and the first 200 hundred or so drones took off for their targets, as planned. It was only the last, most minor bit that the Israelis stuffed. 91% is still an A grade, you know.
It is a common occurrence that when leaders go ’underground,’ they lose touch with reality, and when things start to go badly in a war, it is not inconceivable that military commanders withhold information to avoid any possible punishment. Is that possible with Nasrallah? Could he be so unaware of what is taking place? Unlikely, but not impossible.

The technology available is much more advanced than in Berlin in 1945, and it is far from difficult for the Hezbollah leader to stay aware of important junctures in the war. However, this does not mean that he is being told the entire truth.

Many believe that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has consistently been misled by a group of ’yes-men’ who are too scared to tell him the truth about how badly things were going in the war against Ukraine two years into that conflict. So, it is not beyond the realms of possibility, even in 21st-century warfare.

The likelihood is, though, that Nasrallah’s finger is still very much on the pulse of what is taking place in the cross-border conflict. It is also believed that he is aware that Israel knows his exact location but has, as yet, held back from eliminating him.

Nasrallah, speaking in a televised broadcast on Sunday, stated that the group would evaluate the consequences of its recent rocket and drone assault on Israeli military targets before deciding on any further retaliatory actions for the death of a senior commander.

Mission accomplished?

Speaking hours after the most intense exchange of fire between Hezbollah and Israel since the onset of the Gaza war, Nasrallah emphasized that the group had deliberately avoided targeting civilians or public infrastructure, such as Ben-Gurion Airport. The primary focus of Hezbollah's operation was a military intelligence base located approximately 110 kilometers inside Israeli territory, marking their deepest incursion yet, just north of Tel Aviv.

Over 100 Israeli Air Force (IAF) jets bombed thousands of Hezbollah rocket launcher sites preemptively as intelligence gathered indicated that at 5 a.m. Sunday morning, the terror group would launch a salvo of rockets and drones at the Jewish state in response to the killing of top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr near Beirut last month.

Nasrallah also warned that if the results of this operation were deemed insufficient, Hezbollah reserved the right to launch further attacks, stating, "If the result is not enough, then we retain the right to respond another time."

He also detailed the tactics used in the attack, which involved launching over 300 Katyusha rockets to overwhelm Israel's Iron Dome defense system, followed by the deployment of attack drones, including some launched from the eastern Bekaa Valley—an unprecedented move for Hezbollah. The Hezbollah leader disputed Israeli claims that Hezbollah had planned a larger assault involving thousands of projectiles, though he acknowledged that the operation had been delayed due to what he described as a "mobilization" of Israeli and American military forces in the region.

Israelis have heard enough messages from Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran throughout the past ten months to know lies and rhetoric that is designed to appease supporters when they hear it. What Nasrallah said certainly sounded like rhetoric. "Keep your chins up, Hezbollah," he was saying. We are winning." Whether his supporters take him at face value is a different proposition.

Hezbollah has suffered tremendous losses during the war against Hamas. The IAF has constantly bombarded terrorists attempting to launch rockets and drones into northern Israel and has done an admirable job despite the North’s depleted population and tragedies such as the deaths of 12 children in Majdal Shams last month.

The war against Hezbollah is far from over, and the terror group can still do significant damage to the North. However, after listening to Nasrallah’s speech, one would be wise to recognize the rhetoric for what it is - a play for his supporters - and not think he is so out of touch with reality, as Hitler was, that he genuinely believes what he is saying.

Iran praises Hezbollah attack on Israel
[GEOTV] Iran on Monday praised the drone and missile assault by Lebanon's Hezbollah group on Israel, saying its arch-foe had lost the ability to prevent such attacks amid heightened regional tensions.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday said the group, which is backed by Tehran, had launched a large-scale attack on Israel, targeting "the Glilot base — the main Israeli military intelligence base".
Praise in public, castigate for arrogant ineffectiveness in private — that’s what all the management textbooks say.

Israeli drone targets car in Sidon as fighting resumes
[NAHARNET] Fighting resumed Monday after a short-lived calm following a heavy exchange of strikes between Israel and Hezbollah.

Israeli strikes targeted Monday the southern border village of Tayrharfa and the coastal city of Sidon. A car was hit in the latter strike near Abra's entrance.

The National News Agency reported that a man "from one of the Paleostinian organizations" had survived the strike on the car.
But his pickleball days are over

Later in the day, Israeli drones and warplanes targeted the southern towns of Markaba, Taybeh, and Hanine in the Bint Jbeil district.

Hezbollah, for its part, targeted surveillance equipment in the Ramia post in northern Israel with a suicide drone.

On Sunday, Israel launched dozens of strikes on southern Lebanon that it described as a preemptive operation, saying it had averted a major attack planned by Hezbollah in retaliation for the killing of one of its top commanders, Fouad Shukur, in an Israeli strike in Beirut last month.

Shortly afterward, Hezbollah launched a barrage of hundreds of drones and rockets, which it said was in retaliation for the killing of Shukur. Hezbollah leader Sayyed

said drones had hit an Israeli military intelligence site near Tel Aviv. Israel said no military target was hit. Neither offered evidence.

Israel and Hezbollah backed off from sparking a widely feared all-out war, as both sides signaled their most intense exchange in months was over and neither side launched strikes overnight.

Greek cargo vessel attacked by Yemeni forces three days ago, continues to burn
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] The European mission in the Red Sea, known as '' Aspides '', reported on Monday that a fire continues to blaze on a Greek-flagged ship following an attack by Yemeni armed forces three days ago.

In a statement posted on X platform, the mission noted that there are fires on at least 5 locations observed on the main deck of the vessel.

''It is estimated that these are located around the hatches of the vessel's oil tanks. Additionally, part of the superstructure is on fire, too. So far there are no obvious signs of an oil spill,'' the statement read.

''The ship remains anchored at the same point in international waters.''

The European mission attached photographs showing the ongoing fires on the vessel.

Federal judge blocks Biden admin move to give legal status to illegal immigrant spouses of US citizens
[FoxNews] 16 Republican attorneys general sued over the policy on Friday.

The Biden administration’s efforts to grant a pathway to citizenship to some illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens have been put on hold temporarily by a federal judge after a lawsuit from 16 Republican-led states.

U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker on Monday put a stay on the "parole in place" program, which was announced in June and allows for humanitarian parole and a path to permanent residency for certain illegal immigrant spouses of U.S. citizens without them having to leave the country.

The 16 states, led by Texas and America First Legal, argued in a filing first reported by Fox News Digital that the rule violates federal law, which prohibits illegal immigrants from obtaining immigration benefits, including permanent status, without first having left the country and being readmitted.

They argued it does that by an unlawful use of parole, which is limited to use on a "case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit."

"Biden's unconstitutional scheme would have rewarded over 1 million illegal aliens with the opportunity for citizenship after breaking our country's laws—and incentivized countless more," Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

The administration had estimated that about 500,000 immigrants would benefit, and about 50,000 children.

The new process would have applied to noncitizen spouses who have lived in the U.S. for 10 years as of June and are judged not to pose a threat to public safety or national security, allowing them to apply for permanent residency. It argued that families live in fear and "face deep uncertainty about their future" due to the requirement that they depart and be processed abroad.

"In addition, individuals must have no disqualifying criminal history or otherwise constitute a threat to national security or public safety and should otherwise merit a favorable exercise of discretion," a fact sheet said.

The stay will last for two weeks but can be extended. Barker is a judge appointed by former President Donald Trump.

White House reveals who's running country with Joe Biden, 81, on second week of vacation
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The White House on Monday revealed who is running the country with President Joe Biden on his second week of vacation.

'You know better than that,' National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby scolded the reporter who asked who was running the country.

'The president is on vacation, but you can never unplug and from a job like that. Nor does he try to,' Kirby said in a zoom briefing with reporters.

'He's very much in command,' he noted of Biden.

He pointed out Biden spoke with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday and talked to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday as proof the president is working.
Did he say anything sensible and substantive, or was he doing the dementia mumble thing again?
Biden, 81, is at his beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware, after spending a week at a private 8,000 acre ranch in Santa Ynez, Calif. He is scheduled to return to the White House after Labor Day weekend.

Vice President Kamala Harris is in Washington D.C. with nothing on her public schedule until Wednesday, when she heads to Georgia for a two-day bus trip to campaign in the state.

At least 13 Ethiopian migrants killed after boat sinks off Yemen's Coast
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] At least 13 people were killed, while others are still missing, after a boat carrying Æthiopian migrants colonists sank off the Yemen

i coast.

A report issued by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Sunday said, ''13 people were tragically killed and 14 others are still missing after a boat carrying migrants colonists capsized off the coast of Taiz province.''

The boat, which was carrying 25 Æthiopian migrants colonists along with Yemeni citizens, left Djibouti towards Yemen before it sank near Thu Bab District, according to field reports from IOM.

The report stated that the bodies of 11 men and two women were recovered along the coast of Bab al-Mandab near Thu Bab district, while search operations are ongoing in the hope of finding the remaining missing migrants colonists and the Yemeni captain and his assistant.

The Acting Head of the IOM's mission in Yemen, Matt Hopper, said ''this latest tragedy is a stark reminder of the dangers migrants colonists face on this route.''

Hopper called for working collectively to ensure that migrants colonists are protected and supported throughout their journeys, reiterating the organization's commitment to continuing efforts to prevent such incidents and protect vulnerable migrants colonists, as he said.

The same location witnessed a similar incident in late July, which resulted in the killing of 12 migrants colonists and the loss of four others.

The number of migrants colonists killed as a result of boat sinking accidents has risen to 306 migrants colonists, most of them Æthiopians, since the beginning of this year 2024.

Durov charged with 12 crimes
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
The saga continues. See also here.
[Regnum] Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been charged with 12 crimes, according to a press release from the Paris prosecutor's office.

Thus, the founder of the messenger is accused of complicity in the creation of an online platform for the purpose of carrying out illegal financial transactions, and of refusing to provide, at the request of the competent authorities of France, information or documents necessary for carrying out wiretapping permitted by law.

In addition, Durov is accused of complicity in organizing fraud, storing and distributing child pornography, purchasing and selling drugs, laundering money obtained through criminal means, as well as a number of other crimes related to the provision of illegal cryptographic services.

It is noted that the case against the businessman was opened on July 8, 2024, as part of a preliminary investigation, which was initiated based on the results of a pre-investigation check at the initiative of the cybercrime department of the Paris prosecutor's office. The department clarified that Durov's police detention period expires on August 28.

"The period of detention was extended on 25 August 2024 by the investigating judge and may continue for up to 96 hours (i.e. until 28 August 2024) taking into account the procedure applied in connection with the above-mentioned crimes related to organized crime," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, it was previously reported that Durov is accused of refusing to cooperate on cyber and financial crimes. According to a representative of the French police, the founder of the messenger is currently under investigation by national departments for combating cybercrime and fraud. He is still under arrest.

On August 24, Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport in the suburbs of Paris. According to media reports, the charges may relate to terrorism and drug trafficking.

On August 26, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Durov’s arrest was not a political decision.

On August 26, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin was not aware of what exactly Telegram founder Pavel Durov was accused of. It was wrong to make any statements about the situation at this point, he said. Peskov added that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not meet with Durov during his visit to Baku in August 2024.

In a conversation with the Regnum news agency, Vadim Trukhachev, PhD in history and associate professor at the faculty of international relations, political science and foreign regional studies at the Russian State University for the Humanities, said that Durov could be persuaded to cooperate by Western intelligence agencies. He added that Durov is a citizen of Russia and France, but he will be held accountable as a citizen of France who, in a semi-war period, has the keys to a messenger popular in Russia.

Hackers Attack French Government Websites After Durov's Detention, Media Writes
Several French government websites have been subjected to cyberattacks by hackers after the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov, Le Parisien writes.

The publication's article specifies that the websites of the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM), the Peasant Confederation trade union, and the Voix du Nord newspaper were subjected to hacker attacks. The attackers also planned to hack one of France's state portals.

It is specified that these cyber attacks are aimed at disrupting the servers' functionality. Hackers artificially create an increase in requests to the state online resource in order to increase its load and disable it.

As reported by Regnum News Agency, Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport in the suburbs of Paris on the evening of August 24 and placed in custody. The Telegram founder is due to appear before a French court on August 25. He may be charged with several charges related to the messenger's activities, including terrorism and drug trafficking.

The charges include terrorism and drug trafficking. On August 25, AFP reported that a Paris court had extended Durov's detention to 96 hours. He must be charged or released in the remaining time.

The Russian Embassy in Paris immediately began work to clarify the situation surrounding Durov's detention. The press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the detainee's representatives had not contacted Russian diplomats. The diplomatic agency demanded that the French authorities ensure that the detainee's rights are respected.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that Moscow had sent a note demanding consular access to Durov. She also said that Russia would monitor the reaction of international organizations and how vigilant they would be in protecting human rights and guaranteeing freedom of speech.

Rumble founder claims platform has been threatened after Durov's arrest
Chris Pavlovsky, founder of the Canadian video hosting Rumble, called the arrest of Telegram founder Pavel Durov crossing the line and said that he was forced to leave Europe after what happened. He wrote about this on August 25 on his page on the social network X.

“Now they have crossed a red line by arresting Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, reportedly for not introducing censorship,” Pavlovsky said.

According to him, the French authorities also threatened Rumble, and the arrest of the Telegram founder became a compelling reason to leave Europe. He also stressed that he would use all available legal means to fight for freedom of speech and the release of Durov.

Video hosting service Rumble gained widespread popularity in 2021 thanks to its collaboration with the media group of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, American entrepreneur Elon Musk previously suggested that after the arrest of Pavel Durov, similar measures could be taken against the social network X that he owns. Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini also made the same suggestion.

Pavel Durov was detained at Le Bourget Airport in the suburbs of Paris, where he arrived on his plane on August 24. After that, the entrepreneur was taken into custody. According to media reports, the Telegram founder is expected to face a number of charges related to the messenger's work and his refusal to cooperate with French law enforcement agencies. The charges include terrorism and drug trafficking cases. On August 25, AFP reported that a Paris court extended Durov's detention to 96 hours. He must be charged or released in the remaining time. The Paris prosecutor's office promised to make an official statement on Durov's arrest on August 26.

The head of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media, Alexei Pushkov, noted that Durov had become a victim of a liberal dictatorship that is trying to suppress those who single-handedly seek to advance freedom and do not follow its policies. He warned that the owner of the X social network, Elon Musk, could face the same problem.

Aden hospital workers strike for salary payments
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] Workers and employees of the al-Jumhuriya Model General Hospital in the city of Aden began their strike on Sunday in protest against the non-payment of their salaries and financial dues.
It’s Yemen. Does anyone have money to pay for such luxuries?
The head of the hospital's union committee, Najd Saeed Ali, confirmed the start of the strike in all hospital departments until the workers' demands are met and all financial dues, including salaries, incentives, and bonuses, are paid.

He stated that the strike came for demanding the hospital employees' financial dues that had not been paid for several months, pointing out that the union does not bear responsibility for any negative consequences that may result from the strike.

Najd attributed that to the financial administration's inability, the delay in payroll and entitlements, and the lack of serious follow-up in the Ministry of Finance in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

For his part, the secretary-general of the hospital's union committee, Ammar Muhammad Qaed, called for those who tampered with the administration or accounts to be held accountable.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
IDF: Hezbollah's massive strike largely carried out from civilian areas
Of course. And it still did not protect them.
[Ynet] The IDF said that Hezbollah’s massive strike on Israel Sunday morning was largely carried out from civilian areas, including sites near mosques, schools and UN compounds.

"In response to Hezbollah's preparation for launching missiles and rockets aimed at northern and central Israel, the IDF targeted immediate threats posed by the terror organization," a statement read.

"Approximately 230 launches and 20 aerial targets that crossed into Israeli territory were identified during the strike. Hezbollah continues to embed its terror infrastructure within civilian areas, using Lebanese civilians as human shields."

Government Corruption
RFK Jr. Calls Out FDA, CDC, NIH Corruption
[Fox News via Red State] Robert F. Kennedy Jr. appeared on "Fox News Sunday" to talk about his plans to partner with Donald Trump to "Make America Healthy Again." Host Shannon Bream asked RFK Jr. if he wants to dismantle the federal government agencies (allegedly) related to public health - FDA, NIH, and CDC. In his response, he pointed out some harsh truths about how those agencies function that more Americans need to be aware of:

"I wouldn't dismantle them. I would change the focus, and I would end the corruption. Right now, 75 percent of FDA’s budget is coming from pharmaceutical companies. That is a perverse incentive."

"In NIH, the - scientists and officials at NIH who work on drug development, incubate drugs for the pharmaceutical company, get to collect lifetime royalties from those products. These are regulators. They’re supposed to be looking for problems in those products.

"We have these agencies that have become sock puppets for the industries they’re supposed to regulate, so they're not really interested in public health.

"The most profitable thing today in America is a sick child. Everybody’s making money - the hospitals are making money, the pharmaceutical companies are making money; even the insurance companies make money.

"We need to end those perverse incentives, we need to get the corruption out of the FDA, out of NIH, out of the CDC, and make them function as they're supposed to function, which is to protect public health and to protect childrens' health."

Prior to COVID lockdowns and forced vaccinations, there was already a movement looking for political leaders who would do the things that RFK Jr. spoke about in this segment, and after what we saw the "public health" officials do during the COVID time frame that movement has only grown. By having RFK Jr. campaign for Trump on these issues, the Trump/Vance ticket can gain a significant segment of these voters, many of whom might not have already been on the Trump train. As Bobby is saying, winning this election (and saving America) is about growing a coalition, and he's really hit the ground running.

Small missile ship Amur with Kalibr missiles on board accepted into the Navy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Russian Navy has accepted a new small missile ship of Project 22 800 "Amur",the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported on August 26.

The ceremonial reception of the ship and the raising of the St. Andrew's flag took place under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, in Kaspiysk.

"The Karakurt-class ships, designed by engineers from the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau, embody the power of strike weapons and high seaworthiness. They will make a significant contribution to strengthening combat readiness, operating as part of the surface component of the Navy," Moiseyev said.

The Navy Commander-in-Chief also noted that the program to equip the fleet with ships carrying high-precision weapons (the Amur is capable of carrying Kalibr-NK cruise missiles) will continue.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, earlier in August, Sevmash CEO Mikhail Budnichenko reported that the strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine cruiser Knyaz Pozharsky was undergoing factory sea trials. The submarines of this project are armed with 16 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles and six torpedo tubes.

The Russian Navy will receive 12 surface ships and four submarines in 2024, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Viktor Yevtukhov said in January. He noted that the fleet receives a new vessel almost every month, while the level of import substitution in their construction is 100%, and sanctions cannot interfere with the work.

Mother-in-law danced, husband prayed. Wedding in Dagestan exposed social rift
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Maria Orlova

[REGNUM] A wedding in the Dagestani village of Nizhneye Kazanishche. The newlyweds are about to go outside, but suddenly the young wife's mother starts circling around her daughter, calling her to dance. The music thunders, and the aunts' round dance carries the young woman along. The husband is shocked by what is happening: he tries to stop the dancing, and when he fails, he rips the wires of the music equipment out of the sockets.

The video from the wedding in Nizhny Kazanishche appeared the day before in Dagestani Telegram channels, and then in VKontakte communities. In the public group “Voice of Dagestan”, the video collected more than a thousand likes and almost two thousand comments in a couple of days. In addition to expressing support for the groom — “handsome!”, “that’s how it should be!” — and mass condemnation of the bride’s mother, commentators discussed how the young people found each other and decided to get married with such different families?

"Where was the groom looking when he was wooing a girl from a non-observant family? He saw what kind of parents and relatives the girl had. And what were the girl's parents and the girl herself thinking when she married a guy who observed religion?" - one of the most "liked" comments under the video.

In response, one user suggested that the families might not have come to a compromise on how the wedding would go. And if they did, the "social" mother-in-law only formally agreed to be left alone, and then at the celebration she did things her way. "You need to initially take someone from your circle as a partner," the author of the comment concludes.

The male commentator immediately explained that in modern Dagestan, "the imam concludes the marriage before the banquet halls, the young couple are already husband and wife. The husband has all rights to his wife as soon as he takes her to his home from her parents' house." In general, "according to religion," music and dancing are prohibited at weddings.

In any case, a compromise could have been found, one of the commentators is sure, describing his own story from two years ago. Then, according to the man, "they gave away a niece in marriage to a groom of a different nationality."

“Seeing the groom with a beard, I made a remark: “Wearing a beard is not prohibited, I cannot forbid it, but the size of the beard is not a criterion for assessing a person’s faith in the Almighty, it should be in the soul of every person.”

Then I informed the guests that from our side there would be a full wedding, the bride's exit from the house would definitely be with music. The groom's side agreed with us. Moreover, at their request, the wedding was held together, in one hall," the man wrote.

Another story was shared by a girl “whose parents were communists and her husband was religious.”

"When he came to my parents' house, my father immediately made it clear that the wedding would be with music and alcohol - at most, he would not put alcohol on his table - out of respect, that he was against the hijab, and a few other things. My husband agreed. We got married, after some time I covered myself. And my husband conveyed the religion to my parents so beautifully that they began to study it themselves," the girl wrote.

According to another version, the conflict at the wedding could have been programmed from the start - if both the bride and the groom had “non-observant” families.

"Most people in Dagestan have secular families since the communist era, but the youth are more religious. That is, the adults have agreed on something, but the young people have not," wrote one user.

However, the reason for the dispute may be much more prosaic: the bride’s mother could simply be trying to recoup the costs of the celebration.

"We had a case. The groom's parents, without the newlyweds, had a secular wedding the next day to cover their expenses. Perhaps the mother decided to do this at the expense of her daughter's dance," wrote a resident of Dagestan.

There is a tradition at weddings: guests can dance with the bride, after giving her a banknote. In this way, a decent amount can be collected.

At the same time, as explained in the comments, usually the groom's side bears most of the costs of organizing the wedding. And this time, the "musicians and other fun" were obviously ordered by the wife's family.

In any case, as one commentator wrote aphoristically, for the young family “the honeymoon was icy.”

In turn, a resident of Makhachkala offered a recipe for how to prevent similar situations in the future. According to her, conflicts will stop "when both the bride's side and the groom's side understand one simple truth: their children are building their own family. Parents need to understand long ago that they should not interfere in the relationship of two people who are getting married. There will be less pulling back and forth, there will be fewer divorces and broken lives."

The incident in the Dagestani village really illustrates the split in local society, 60-year-old Dagestani Rizvan A., chairman of a collective farm in the Tver region, told Regnum. The man visits his homeland every year and sees how the mood in the region changes.

According to Rizvan, the young wife found herself between two fires: on the one hand, the duty of a Dagestani girl is to honor her parents and obey her mother, on the other hand, to obey her husband.

"We, the older generation, grew up in the Soviet Union. It is customary for us to work hard and have a good rest. How can we not drink excellent Dagestani cognac at a wedding, how can we not dance? I don't understand!

And some of the youth in Makhachkala are now completely different. They are interested in mosques, gyms and barbershops. They want to live like the sheikhs in Saudi Arabia, so they try to become more righteous than Mohammed himself. Our girls have never worn niqabs, the Dagestani women's dress is very beautiful. And now women wrap themselves in black, like in Iran," says the interlocutor of IA Regnum.

He is sure that this is a conflict not only between generations, but also between Soviet modernism and religious archaism.

Dagestan is a boiling cauldron of nations. Only officially, 14 nationalities live side by side here, speaking different languages, but connected by a common history and centuries-old neighborhood.

A Dagestani wedding is one of the main events in the life of a new family. Several hundred guests are usually invited to the celebration. But if earlier a wedding in Dagestan was a celebration of good neighborliness, now different worldviews can clash, which will not only spoil the holiday, but also threaten to create a much wider conflict than a quarrel between two families.

In Dagestan today, there are two types of weddings. The first is the "regular" one, where they dance to loud music and drink to the health of the newlyweds. The second is a Muslim wedding, where alcohol is strictly prohibited, and the ceremony is accompanied by the quiet singing of nasheeds - traditional singers who sing without the accompaniment of musical instruments. Dancing is not prohibited in Islam, but it is believed that men and women should dance separately from each other, in different rooms.

"Most of the peoples of Dagestan profess Islam. But historically, Dagestani Islam absorbed the traditions of the mountain peoples, it was very different from the harsh Islam of the Arabian Desert.

95% of the population of Dagestan are Sunni Muslims, 5% are Shiites. In short, Shiites, who believe in the infallibility of Muslim teachers-imams, are the main current of Islam in Iran. And in more moderate Muslim countries, Sunnis predominate, believing that vital issues should be decided by the Muslim community,” religious scholar Farit Batyrgareev tells IA Regnum.

Recently, he continues, Wahhabism has been considered a separate branch - a movement whose followers believe that Islam must be cleansed of all innovations that appeared after the Prophet Muhammad and his descendants. At the same time, the radicalization of Islam in the post-Soviet space coincided with the global trend.

"Most likely, the growth of Islamist sentiments among Dagestani youth is based on the demand for social justice, so clearly expressed in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad. Faced with corruption, bureaucracy and other vices of the secular regional system, young people are leaving for mosques," Batyrgareev said.

But radicalism and misunderstood principles of Islam manifest themselves in horrific excesses. In June, terrorists in Dagestan attacked synagogues and a church, where Russian Orthodox priest Nikolai Kotelnikov was brutally murdered. The attackers included the son and nephew of the former head of the Sergokalinsky district, Magomed Omarov.

At the end of October 2023, about 1,200 people rioted at Makhachkala's Uytash airport, breaking into the building and then onto the airfield. The radical youth were waiting for a plane from Tel Aviv to arrive.

On August 23, the Armavir City Court issued the first verdict to the participants in the pogrom: five defendants in the criminal case were sentenced to prison terms of six to nine years. However, they did not admit their guilt.

The main problem is that radical Islamists are ready to do anything. Not so much because of their hatred of Russia, but because of their rejection of the entire modern world as such. In addition, the seething energy of radicals can be used for their own purposes by Russia's enemies, trying to split society and incite interethnic strife.

And the young family from Nizhny Kazanishche can only wish that everything works out for them. If the young people love each other, they will understand and forgive their other half. And if not, maybe it’s good that everything ended, essentially, before it began?

'One of the most powerful during the SVO.' The Russian Armed Forces struck targets in Ukraine
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Mikhail Zakharov

[REGNUM] Early in the morning of August 26, Russian troops launched a series of massive strikes on Ukrainian territory. The missiles and UAVs targeted various infrastructure facilities, as well as enemy air defense systems.

Among the weapons used were Geranium strike drones, Iskander operational-tactical missile systems, strategic aviation forces, and weapons from the Black Sea Fleet ships.

"This morning, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive strike with long-range precision air and sea-based weapons and strike drones against critical energy infrastructure facilities that support the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex. All designated targets were hit," the Russian Defense Ministry said.

We didn't have to wait long for confirmation of the effectiveness of our military's actions: Volodymyr Zelensky had already managed to complain that more than 100 missiles and about 100 drones used in the strike had significantly damaged Ukrainian energy facilities. According to him, the strike was one of the most powerful in the entire history of the SVO.

It was loud throughout Ukraine: local media reported on the attacks on targets in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkov, Poltava, Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Nikolaev, Odessa, Vinnytsia, Zhitomir, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil and Volyn regions.

Power went out in many Ukrainian regions, emergency power outages were imposed across the country, water supply problems arose, and local railways had to switch to diesel locomotives. Apparently, this was the result of successful hits on substations in Rivne and Odessa, energy infrastructure in Lutsk, and serious damage to the Kyiv hydroelectric power station in Vyshgorod.

It was also reported that two explosions thundered in Kyiv near the Zhulyany airport, where American Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems were located. Due to "Russian activity" in Ukraine, Poland scrambled its armed forces aircraft.

Overall, the strikes by the Russian Armed Forces hit energy facilities, defense industry facilities, ammunition depots and other military targets.

The Ukrainian military is not distinguished by such selectivity. On the morning of August 26, they once again struck a Russian residential building - a Ukrainian drone attacked a house in Saratov, four people were injured, a woman was hospitalized in serious condition. A drone also struck a multi-story building on Pushkin Street in the city of Engels, fortunately there were no casualties.

In total, the Russian military intercepted 20 drones over seven regions overnight. The largest number of drones were neutralized in the Saratov Region — nine. The military was able to neutralize three more drones in the Kursk Region. In addition, the Russian Armed Forces destroyed two UAVs in the Belgorod, Bryansk, and Tula Regions, and one in the Oryol and Ryazan Regions.

In order to prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from continuing attacks on Russian territory, it is necessary to continue to strike targets on Ukrainian territory, notes military expert, retired colonel Anatoly Matviychuk. At the same time, he calls for not considering the morning strike by the Russian Armed Forces as a "retaliatory strike."

“These are systematic military actions that we are taking from the point of view of weakening the military potential and military economy of Ukraine,” the source told Regnum.

Today's strike is a continuation of systematic work, military expert Vyacheslav Shurygin is sure.

"Such strikes, when they are regular, certainly exhaust Ukraine. When they are made episodically, the enemy can come to its senses," the expert explained in a conversation with the Regnum news agency.

In turn, the head of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrei Kartapolov, stated that “today’s strike by the Russian Armed Forces on Ukraine is, among other things, a response to the provocation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region,” and that “there will be a continuation.”

However, for now, the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to throw new reserves into the military adventure in the Kursk region. Russian troops are repelling attacks by enemy assault groups in the direction of the settlements of Kremyanoye, Malaya Loknya and Nechayev, and are also preventing the Ukrainian Armed Forces from breaking through in the direction of Komarovka, Spalnoye, Korenevo, Pogrebki and Olgovka.

“Over the course of 24 hours, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 400 servicemen and 27 armored vehicles, including a tank, two infantry fighting vehicles, three armored personnel carriers and 21 armored combat vehicles, as well as five artillery pieces, two mortars, 11 vehicles and a US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar,” the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to successfully advance in Donbass. Units of the "East" group of forces have improved their tactical position, defeating Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades in the Ugledar area, as well as near the settlements of Vodyanoye, Pavlovka, Prechistovka and Neskuchnoye in the DPR.

The Center group is also advancing into the DPR, in the area of the settlements of Dzerzhinsk, Tarasovka, Zhuravka, Vozdvizhenka, Novozhelannoye and Yasnobrodovka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces are breaking through the enemy's defenses, advancing simultaneously to the west within the borders of Novogrodovka and to the south through Kalinovo in the direction of the M-30 highway. At the same time, as reported from the field, the pace of the offensive has increased significantly.

According to Anatoly Matviychuk, the advance in the Pokrovsk direction is extremely important, since it is the key point in the enemy’s operational defense.

“With the capture of Pokrovsk, we gain operational space, which will allow us to maneuver either towards Dnepropetrovsk or Kramatorsk,” says the expert.

He believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to attack the Kursk and Belgorod regions so that the Russian command would transfer forces to this direction, easing the pressure in Donbass. But the enemy's plans failed.

“Our units are calmly, at an increasing pace, breaking through the defense and reaching the enemy’s second defensive line, where he has neither troops nor prepared defenses, including fortifications,” explains the source of IA Regnum.

According to Vladislav Shurygin, our forces are currently moving forward in several directions at once in Donbass – in four or five sections of the front.

"There are also heavy battles in the Kharkiv region, where we have entered. Now the front has stabilized there, the Ukrainians are holding it as best they can. First of all, we do not give them peace there, but it cannot be said that we are trying very hard to push them there," the expert adds.

Overall, he warns, it is too early to talk about major successes for Russian forces, even in Donbass: the front is in a difficult balance, Ukraine continues to stubbornly resist – there is still a lot of hard work ahead.

Government Corruption
RNC Claims Detroit Hired Seven Times More Democrat than Republican Poll Workers
[BREITBART] The Republican National Committee (RNC) is accusing bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
, Michigan’s election commission of hiring more Democrat than Republican poll workers as the presidential election approaches.

The RNC has slapped the Election Commission of the City of Detroit with a lawsuit that alleges officials broke state law by hiring over seven times more Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
than Republicans for those roles, Fox News reported on Friday.

The outlet continued:

Michigan requires that the board of election commissioners "shall appoint an equal number, as nearly as possible, of election inspectors in each election precinct from each major political party," according to Section 168.74 of the state’s election law.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
the city of Detroit hired about 2,300 Democratic poll workers and only about 300 Republican election inspectors for the state’s 2024 primary election, according to the Detroit Election Commission Report cited in the lawsuit.

In a statement to Fox News, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chair Lara Trump stated, "Detroit’s failure to hire Republican poll workers is the kind of bad-faith Democrat interference that drives down faith in elections."

It is important to note that the RNC and Trump campaign recently surpassed 150,000 poll watchers and workers after setting a goal of 100,000 for their election integrity program, according to Breitbart News:

The RNC and Trump campaign announced the launch of the massive election integrity program earlier in 2024, describing it as the "most extensive and monumental election integrity program in the nation’s history."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian perspective: Operation in Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 20:41 The physical presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, active actions to destroy the Russian threat on its territory - this is, among other things, a way to compensate for the deficit in range, Zelensky said in an evening video address. According to him, in the Kursk region "we continue our actions in certain areas exactly as Ukraine needs. Over the past 24 hours, we have more control, there is another replenishment of the exchange fund."

15:25 An IAEA mission led by Rafael Grossi will visit the Kursk NPP on Tuesday, August 27, the agency’s Director General said in a statement.

12:44 Peskov stated that the topic of negotiations with Ukraine has currently "lost its relevance." The Kremlin spokesman also claims that there were no negotiations between Russia and Ukraine before the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region. As for the attack on the Kursk region, Peskov said that "such hostile actions cannot remain without a response, there will be one, we are not talking about any one decision."

12:38 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that Russian troops are redeploying forces from less priority areas of the front in Ukraine to the front line in the Kursk region. In particular, they have recorded troops there who were previously in the Kharkov and Seversk directions and in the area of Chasov Yar.

12:29 The Washington Post journalists examined more than 100 videos and photographs taken since the beginning of the Kursk operation and confirmed that at least 247 Russian soldiers were captured by the Ukrainians. The article also confirms that young Russian soldiers surrendered without resistance.

12:06 Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala called the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region "a certain symbolic change" that will not bring about a turning point at the front. "We do not expect any significant change on the battlefield. We cannot expect a fundamental turning point in the conflict now," Fiala said.

11:21 The goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region is threefold: to force Russia to withdraw its troops from eastern Ukraine, to destroy the narrative of defeat on the battlefield, and to improve its position ahead of potential peace talks, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing American officials. They believe that all three goals have been achieved, albeit to a limited extent. According to sources, Washington was initially concerned that Kiev had taken such a drastic step. Now the White House is cautiously waiting to see whether Zelensky's gamble will pay off.

10:15 Le Monde writes that Ukraine and Russia allegedly held talks with the mediation of Qatar in Doha in early August and agreed not to strike energy infrastructure any more, but Moscow broke this agreement after the Ukrainian Armed Forces began their offensive in the Kursk region.

21:38 Today's attack on Ukraine cost Russia almost $1.3 billion , Forbes calculated.

20:41 The physical presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, active actions to destroy the Russian threat on its territory - this is, among other things, a way to compensate for the deficit in range, Zelensky said in an evening video address. Over the past 24 hours, we have more control, there is another replenishment of the exchange fund."

The president also reported that today at the meeting of the Headquarters, Syrsky reported on the situation at the front: "About the Pokrovsky direction - the most difficult, the most Russian assaults, also the Vremevsky direction, Toretsky, Kurakhovsky. There is a decision to strengthen our positions." In addition, according to the president, he discussed with the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the repulse of today's missile attack by the Russian Federation and the preparation of Russia's response, as well as the use of F-16s.

In addition, Zelensky said that he held a meeting today with the heads of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies: "The main focus is on counteracting collaborators, investigating criminal proceedings against those who justify Russia's aggression, serve this war against Ukraine, illegal border crossing and the anti-corruption program. COVID-19: The Preventable Pandemic
[The Daily Signal] When The Heritage Foundation released its comprehensive report on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, headlines tended to focus on the cost to the U.S. That’s not surprising: At an eye-popping $18 trillion, it’s almost 10 times the projected 2024 budget deficit.
At least in Hillsboro, Ohio - similar article published August 25.
Arguably, however, the commission’s most infuriating conclusion was this: The global pandemic was "totally preventable," in the words of Commissioner Dr. Robert Redfield, an experienced virologist who headed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention during the outbreak.
Not the first time well-intentioned governments made things worse. I’ve seen it argued that the Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918 would have been merely unusually deadly had also sorts of innovative but unscientific treatments not been deployed.
Had the Chinese government been more transparent and cooperative at the outset of the pandemic, millions of lives and trillions of dollars could have been spared. The pandemic’s "proximal origin," the commission found, was the Chinese government’s "aggressive opposition to honesty transparency, and accountability" along with its "systemic cover up."
C’mon, man! China is a long-established totalitarian system that’s taken shortcuts and ignored basic hygiene and scientific practices with regard to its people for generations. Remember when entire villages would get together to donate blood plasma to their version of the Red Cross — or maybe it was red blood cells, I don’t remember the details — and then the remainder would be split among the donors and pumped back into all their arms. They shared all sorts of interesting diseases that way, well beyond just AIDS, as I recall.
Worldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic is considered one of the seven deadliest plagues in human history, with excess deaths topping 28 million, according to some estimates. The World Bank has characterized the economic upheaval caused by the pandemic as "the largest global economic crisis in more than a century," with low-income countries hit the hardest.

The commission’s assessment that the pandemic cost the U.S. alone $18 trillion includes $8.6 trillion in "excess deaths," $1.8 trillion in income lost, $6 trillion in chronic conditions like "long COVID," $1.1 trillion in mental health costs, and $400 million in education losses.

To avoid a future pandemic and hold the Chinese government accountable, the commission report concluded with several practical recommendations for the U.S. government:

1. Establish a bipartisan national COVID-19 commission ...

2. Create a bipartisan reparations or compensation task force ...

3. Facilitate the filing of civil claims against China by amending the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act.

4. Decouple U.S. government and commercial supply chains from Chinese state-backed companies.

5. Audit all U.S. government funding for biomedical research and related research activities in China.

6. Impose economic sanctions on Chinese officials and entities who were complicit...

The COVID-19 pandemic was almost certainly the deadliest and costliest event of the 21st century. Beijing’s ability to escape virtually any accountability—and the global media’s relative disinterest in the pandemic’s origins, cost, and China’s culpability—are equal parts confounding and infuriating.

Heritage Foundation Report, July, 2024. Over an hour read.

RSF shelling kills 25 in Darfur displacement camp, hospital hit
[SUDANTRIBUNE]At least 25 people were killed and dozens maimed when shells hit a camp for displaced people in Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans...
's North Darfur state on Monday, officials said, the latest attack in a region where violence has surged since April.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been battling the army in North Darfur's capital El Fasher since mid-May, following the outbreak of a nationwide conflict between the two sides.

The paramilitary group has been accused of targeting civilians and looting in El Fasher, where it has besieged hundreds of thousands of people.

Health ministry official Ibrahim Khater said 25 people had been killed and 40 maimed in the shelling of the Abu Shouk camp, home to some 400,000 displaced people.

A local resistance committee put the corpse count at more than 20, with 32 maimed.

Witnesses said the RSF also shelled residential areas and a police hospital, forcing it to close. The RSF could not immediately be reached for comment.

The conflict in Darfur has revived memories of a brutal civil war in the early 2000s that led to the creation of the RSF.

The Abu Shouk attack is likely to raise further concerns about the humanitarian situation in El Fasher, where aid groups have warned of shortages of food and medicine.

Bangladesh
All you need to know about the Ansar force and its protest
Following festivities late on Sunday between Ansar members and students near the Bangladesh Secretariat that left dozens injured from both sides, the role of the force and its history are now the talk of the town and under scrutiny.

Administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, also known as the Ansar Bahini, is a paramilitary auxiliary force responsible for the preservation of internal security and law enforcement in Bangladesh.

The force comprises approximately six million members, organized into three main divisions: Ansar Forces, Battalion Ansar and Village Defence Team (VDP).
What led to the protest?

The protests by Ansar personnel began on Wednesday, demanding job nationalization as they work on a daily wage basis and the abolition of the rest tradition.

According to the Ansar regulation, a member is sent on a six-month mandatory leave after working for three consecutive years. During the period, Ansar members suffer a miserable life as they do not get paid.

According to officials, the government do not pay any salary to 70,000 general Ansar members. A member is paid by the office — Tk 540 per day -- where he is deployed for security and other purposes.

Besides, ration facilities are allocated for them through the Ministry of Home Affairs on behalf of the force.

On average, the Ansar and VDP headquarters receive a deployment requisition for 55,000 for different institutes or government offices around the year.

Besides General Ansars, there are around 17,000 regular members in the force called the Battalion Ansar. The force has also around 570,000 VDP members, whose jobs are volunteer-based.

WHAT HAPPENED ON SUNDAY?
On Sunday, their rally started outside the National Press Club and spread across the area, causing road closures.

The Ansar personnel were unsuccessful in their multiple attempts to enter the Secretariat.

A meeting was held with a seven-strong delegation from the Ansars and Home Adviser Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury at 3pm.

The home adviser said the Ansar rest policy would be abolished.

He also said a committee would review other demands and submit a report for further decisions.

Despite this decision, Ansar members continued their protests, leading to a blockade of the Secretariat where many officials were unable to leave until later in the evening.

An emergency meeting involving five advisors and 10 Ansar representatives was held around 7:45pm, chaired by the home adviser, and festivities resumed around 9:45pm, leaving around 40 people from both sides injured.

At around 10pm, army troops and police arrived at the scene, eventually bringing the situation under control.

Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, in a Facebook post blamed former director general of Ansar, Maj Gen AKM Aminul Haque, for a continued blockade of the Secretariat, even after the demands of protesting Ansar members were met.

AKM Aminul Haque is the elder brother of former deputy minister of water resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim.

Following the clash, the government reshuffled 19 senior positions within the Ansar force.

Till now, at least three cases have been filed over the incident at Paltan, Shahbagh, and Ramna cop shoppes.

WHAT IS ANSAR FORCE?
The name originates from the Arabic word "Ansar," which means "volunteer" or "helper."

On its website, the force says its vision is to ensure peace, order, development and security nationwide for a prosperous and secure state, while its missions are (a) active participation in public safety and disaster response efforts; (b) contributing to the country's socio-economic development by transforming the force's voluntary members into human resources; and (c) participating in law enforcement and operational activities with other forces as directed by the government.

The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party is the country's largest community-based disciplined forces.

The force is headed by a director general. The current Ansar chief is Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud.

The director general functions from the Bangladesh Ansar headquarters, located in Khilgaon, Dhaka.

HISTORY
On February 12, 1948, the Ansar force was established, and the Ansar Act was approved by the then East Bengal legislative assembly, coming into effect on June 17, 1948.

Initially, the training activities of the force were temporarily held in Shahbagh, Dhaka.

The organizational activities of the force began at the district level with the integration of 27 officers from the disbanded Home Guard into the Ansar Bahini. With their assistance, British official James Buchanan, founding director of the force, developed a comprehensive proposal, which was subsequently approved by the government.

In 1951, Ali Azgor was appointed director general of the Ansar Bahini when Buchanan left the country due to his age and deteriorating health. Azgor was director general for a very short period, soon replaced by HMS Doha. As director general Doha contributed a lot to the growth and progress of the organization. During his tenure, the Ansar Bahini obtained 42,000 rifles and the number of members shot up to 1.4 million.

During the 1965 Indo-Pak war, Ansar members were deployed to defend the country's border posts.

Following the oath-taking of Bangladesh's first provisional government during the Liberation War, 12 Ansar members, led by Platoon Commander Yad Ali, provided a guard of honour to the then-acting president.

The Ansar force was disbanded during the war by the Pak military rulers, being labelled as rebels.

Around 40,000 Ansar members participated in the Liberation War, with 670 people, including nine officers, four employees and 657 Ansar members, sacrificing their lives.

One member was awarded the Bir Bikrom title and two received the Bir Protik title.

After independence, from 1973 to 1975, the Ansar force's training activities were conducted in Savar.

In 1976, the Village Defence Party (VDP) was formed, followed by the creation of the Town Defence Party (TDP) in 1980. Both forces would be later integrated with the Ansar force.

The National Ansar Training Centre (NATC) was established in Safipur, Kaliakair, Gazipur, in 1976. It was renamed the Ansar Training School in 1983, and in 1986 it was upgraded to the Ansar Academy. It became the Ansar-VDP Academy in 1995.

The force is currently governed by the Ansar Bahini Act, 1995 and the Battalion Ansars Act, 1995, which were approved by the president on February 15, 1995, and became effective the next day.

According to these laws and Article 152 of the constitution, the Ansar force is recognized as a "disciplined force."

In 2004, the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP received the Independence Award. Battalion Ansars were included under the National Pay Scale in October 2008, gaining entitlement to family rations and combat uniforms.

#3  Yes, I suppose ca$1n0s and liquor would be impossible in Gaza. No strip clubs either. Still, they have the beaches (unless it stinks of sewage). They could have surfing, sailing, paragliding, water skiing and all kinds of other water sports. Would that be haram? They could set up some nice resort hotels with shopping, golf, camel rides, etc., etc., etc.

Jack Smith appeals dismissal of Trump's classified documents case
[10News] "But I really Wanna!!"
Special Counsel Jack Smith has filed an appeal to Judge Aileen Cannon's dismissal of the federal classified documents case against former President Donald Trump.

In a filing submitted Monday to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals, Smith argued that Cannon's decision "deviated from binding Supreme Court precedent, misconstrued the statutes that authorized the Special Counsel’s appointment, and took inadequate account of the longstanding history of Attorney General appointments of special counsels."

In July, Cannon dismissed all charges in the federal court case in Florida against Trump for his alleged involvement in taking classified documents with him to his Mar-a-Lago residence after leaving office.

Cannon agreed with Trump's lawyers that the Department of Justice's appointing Smith was "unlawful" for violating the "appointments clause."

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas appeared to give strength to the argument when he wrote a concurring opinion in a case involving presidential immunity.

"A private citizen cannot criminally prosecute anyone, let alone a former President," Thomas wrote. "No former President has faced criminal prosecution for his acts while in office in the more than 200 years since the founding of our country. And, that is so despite numerous past Presidents taking actions that many would argue constitute crimes. If this unprecedented prosecution is to proceed, it must be conducted by someone duly authorized to do so by the American people. The lower courts should thus answer these essential questions concerning the Special Counsel’s appointment before proceeding."

The Department of Justice has a longstanding policy of resisting political influence on investigations involving major political figures. It has been customary for the Department of Justice to appoint a special counsel in such cases. A special counsel was also picked in the Department of Justice's investigation into President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden.
Jack Smith was not a DOJ Atty nor was he approved by the Senate
Prior to Cannon dismissing the charges, Trump faced 40 criminal counts. Personal aide Walt Nauta faced eight counts while Mar-a-Lago property manager Carlos De Oliveira had four counts against him. Their charges were also dismissed.

Germany''s Scholz promises more deportations after visiting stabbing scene
Promises are easy in the heat of the moment. Execution — that depends on the agreement of petty bureaucrats up and down the land, who have thus far only accepted cleaning up the paperwork while resisting actually doing anything about those rejected, It’s a moral position, donchaknow.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz vowed to step up deportations on Monday during a visit to Solingen, where a deadly mass stabbing linked to ISIS has emboldened the far-right opposition and stoked criticism of his government's handling of migration.

"We will have to do everything we can to ensure that those who cannot and are not allowed to stay in Germany are repatriated and deported," Scholz told news hounds in the western city, where he laid a flower at the scene of the crime.

"This was terrorism, terrorism against us all," he added.

The attack, in which a 26-year-old suspected ISIS member from Syria is accused of killing three people, has fuelled political tensions over asylum and deportation rules ahead of three state elections next month.

The group grabbed credit for the attack, which occurred on Friday evening during a festival celebrating Solingen's 650-year history. Alongside the three killed, eight were maimed, some seriously.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which campaigns for a crackdown on migration, is leading in the polls in Saxony and Thuringia, where state elections are set for Sunday, and in Brandenburg, which has its election on September 22.

The AfD seized on the attack in its election campaign, with Thuringia's leading candidate for the party, Bjoern Hoecke, pitching to voters the choice of "Hoecke or Solingen".

Opinion pollsters Stefan Merz of Infratest dimap and Manfred Guellner of Forsa told Rooters the attack would be unlikely to translate into more votes for the far-right party because its supporters had already been mobilised by migration issues.

Infratest dimap's Merz cited the possibility that the centre-right CDU could benefit at the expense of Scholz's centre-left Social Democrats

Massacre in Musakhel: 23 passengers offloaded, shot dead in Balochistan
[GEOTV] At least 23 passengers travelling to their destinations were killed after being offloaded from buses and trucks in the Rarasham area of Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
's Musakhel, police told Geo News on Monday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ayub Achakzai provided details of the incident, stating that gunnies had blocked the inter-provincial highway to carry out the massacre.

Police and Levies forces quickly reached the site to repel the attack, while rescuers transported the dear departed and injured to the hospital, he added.

Speaking on Geo News programme "Geo Pakistain," Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind revealed that gunnies launched a coordinated assault on multiple (two to three) fronts but were met with fierce resistance from security forces and law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

However,
those who apply themselves too closely to little things often become incapable of great things...
he added that the bandidos Death Eaters used the cover of darkness to carry out the Musakhel attack, during which they dragged the passengers down from the buses and shot them after identity check.

Underscoring the provincial government's resolve to tackle the law and order situation, Rind said that Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti had called a meeting where "important decisions" would be made.
I miss Granpaw Bugti
"To find a way out of this situation, a holistic approach is required from the political government and security forces, with support from all schools of thought," he said.

The Musakhel incident highlights the ongoing security challenges Balochistan faces.

Pakistain has witnessed a spike in terrorism-related incidents since the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. Most terror activities are reported in provinces bordering the neighbouring country — Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) report, during the second quarter of the current year, the country witnessed 380 violence-linked fatalities and 220 injuries among civilians, security personnel, and outlaws.

The report stated that these casualties resulted from as many as 240 incidents involving terror attacks and counter-terrorism operations.

Owing to the security situation, the federal cabinet in June this year approved Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a reinvigorated national counter-terrorism campaign following the Central Apex Committee's recommendations under the National Action Plan to root out terrorism.

Over 20 terrorists killed in Balochistan clearance operations after deadly attacks
[GEOTV] As many as 14 security personnel were martyred in clearance operations against turbans in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Monday.

The military's media wing said on the night between August 25-26, the turbans attempted to conduct numerous heinous activities in Balochistan.

On behest of ''inimical and hostile forces'', the ISPR said these cowardly acts of terrorism were aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment and development of Balochistan by targeting mainly the innocent civilians, especially in Musa Khel, Kalat and Labela districts.

Resultantly, numerous innocent civilians embraced shahadat.

In Musa Khel district, turbans stopped a bus in Rara Sham area and maliciously targeted innocent citizens, working in Balochistan to earn their livelihood, the ISPR said.

It went on to say that security forces and law enforcement agencies immediately responded and successfully thwarted the evil design of turbans and "sent 21 turbans to hell in ensuing clearance operations, ensuring security and protection of local populace".

However,
a good lie finds more believers than a bad truth...
during the conduct of operations, the statement said 14 brave sons of soil including ten security forces soldiers and four personnel of law enforcement agencies, having fought gallantly, made the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.

Sanitisation operations are being conducted and the instigators, perpetrators, controllers and abettors of these heinous and cowardly acts, targeting innocent civilians, will be brought to justice, the statement added.

"Security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistain in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve," the military's media wing said.

The clearance operations were launched as at least 37 people were martyred in different turbans incidents in Balochistan.

In one of the attacks, at least 23 passengers were killed after being offloaded from passenger buses and trucks in the Rarasham area of Balochistan's Musakhel, police told Geo News on Monday.

Providing details of the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ayub Achakzai said gunnies blocked the inter-provincial highway and offloaded passengers from the vehicles.

Los Alamos Nuclear Facility Pollution Levels Comparable to Chernobyl
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The level of plutonium contamination near the nuclear facility in Los Alamos, USA, is comparable to the level recorded near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper, citing a study by scientist Michael Ketterer from the University of Southern Arizona.

According to the scientist, Los Alamos National Laboratory dumped radioactive waste into the canyon until 1963.

"The plutonium content in and around the canyon is comparable to that found at the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster," the publication quotes Ketterer as saying.

According to the authors, the US government spent at least $2 billion on restoration work in the canyon, which was brought into compliance with federal standards by the 1980s. The land was then transferred to Los Alamos County, where it became a favorite among motorcyclists and runners.

The scientist warned that plutonium could be in water that flows into the Rio Grande and from there into food. It could also be dispersed widely through ash from forest fires.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, a pack of cats was discovered in the British town of Seascale, located near the large nuclear complex Sellafield, whose excrement contained plutonium and cesium.

The Sellafield nuclear complex is located in the northwest of Great Britain. Since 1950, the complex has produced weapons-grade plutonium and nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. In 1956, the country's first nuclear power plant, Calder Hall, was built on the complex's territory (the second in the world after the Obninsk NPP of 1954). The station itself was closed in 1981, but the complex continues to operate to this day. The complex has repeatedly experienced radioactive leaks (in 1976, 1981 and 2005).

The Associated Press (AP) reported that the United States is once again worried about an invasion of "super pigs" from Canada. The point is that a growing population of hard-to-eradicate "super pigs" in Canada is threatening to spread south of the border, and northern states like Minnesota, Montana, and North Dakota are taking steps to stop the invasion.

While I was there a "spring" opened up right next to the road going to the old gaseous diffusion plant that, when tested, was very hot. Turns out there was a burial site near where many 55 gallon drums of waste were. They leaked into the ground water and we did a project to catch the water and "dispose" of it. There are many areas there that are no go.

Officials investigating the death of a woman at the first day of Burning Man festival
[10 News] Good Times. Good. Times. Ensured with the first sacrifice
The Burning Man Project's emergency services personnel were unsuccessful in attempting lifesaving measures on the woman.

Authorities said Monday that they are investigating the death of a woman at the counterculture festival known as Burning Man, which is held annually in the northern Nevada desert.

The Pershing County Sheriff's Office said emergency personnel responded to a call about a woman found unresponsive around noon Sunday in Black Rock City — a temporary city erected for the festival, about 100 miles north of Reno.

The Burning Man Project's emergency services personnel were unsuccessful in attempting lifesaving measures on the woman.

"Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends affected by this loss," festival organizers said in a statement. "We are cooperating fully with local authorities as they investigate this incident."

About a half-dozen other deaths have been reported at the festival since it moved from Baker Beach in San Francisco to the Black Rock desert in 1990. Last year, a 32-year-old California man died from suspected drug intoxication after being found unresponsive on the festival grounds.

'Impunity is over!' Why are anti-pedophile fighters persecuting Durov?
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Olesya Orlenko
The saga continues. See also here.
[REGNUM] The arrest of Pavel Durov at the Paris airport was news that came like a bolt from the blue. Numerous questions arising from the incident are already being discussed in the public space. But one curious aspect has remained in the shadows for now.

The thing is that at first glance at the relevant publications in the French press, one might think that the founder of VK and Telegram is an unfamiliar figure to them. But upon closer analysis, one can see that we are witnessing a “sharp turn” in the manner in which the press covers the businessman’s personality and related topics.

The arrest warrant for Durov was issued by the Bureau for Minors Ofmin, created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the criminal investigation department on August 29, 2023.

The emergence of this body was a reaction to the catastrophic, in the opinion of its creators, situation in France, associated with impunity for crimes against minors and, as a consequence, with the growth of juvenile crime.

For example, every three minutes a child is sexually abused in the country. Most often, the problem of violence against children occurs within families and in educational institutions. And only 3% of complaints to the police on this matter end with the punishment of the perpetrators.

Human rights activist Lis Luffoc reports that 40% of French citizens under 25 are homeless, and orphans or children from disadvantaged families, having finished school at 18, are effectively abandoned by the state and society. At the same time, as early as the end of 2023, Ofmin employees complained about a lack of funds, which affected the poor performance of the department.

However, Ofmin had the capacity, in the absence of a government, to conduct what they say was an investigation and issue an arrest warrant for the creator of the Telegram messenger, French citizen Pavel Durov, when he arrived in his new homeland on a private flight from Azerbaijan.

The media writes that one of the officials responsible for the investigation, upon learning of his arrival in France, exclaimed: “The impunity of Telegram is over!”

At the time of the arrest, TF1 spoke with those responsible for the investigation. According to the publication, Ofmin employees were asking questions. Why did Durov decide to come to France, knowing that he was declared persona non grata? And is his visit part of some plan? But everyone is sure of one thing: the businessman and his platform are the number one criminals in the world.

Literally immediately, leading French newspapers were full of headlines like "Who is Pavel Durov?" And Le Monde literally released a machine gun burst of texts of various kinds dedicated to him. Some of them are propaganda in nature, sometimes at the level of low-quality agitation.

Thus, the text entitled “The Arrest of Pavel Durov: Defending the Rule of Law, Not an ‘Attack on Freedom of Speech’” states that Russia’s and Elon Musk’s accusations of the political nature of this arrest are groundless.

After all, according to the author of Le Monde, the rights of journalists are also violated in Russia, they also wanted to ban Telegram for the same reason as in France, and in general, the French authorities have the right, if they consider it necessary, to arrest a billionaire who came to their country for the sake of business freedom and "for pleasure". And all those who see an offense in what happened do it "maliciously". And the main proof of democracy in France is the fact that the arrested person... will be provided with a lawyer.

The fact is that, by retelling the biography of Pavel Durov over and over again, journalists are trying to disguise the fact that the personality of the creator of Telegram and VK should already be well known to attentive French readers.

In 2014, the same Le Monde wrote about his case as evidence of “Russian repression,” presenting the businessman as a defender of Ukrainian users of the VK social network. Journalistic investigations were devoted to Durov, presenting him as a mysterious, slightly eccentric, but certainly talented entrepreneur who managed to win the clash with the Kremlin and is creating a new reality.

Back in February 2024, the media welcomed (albeit with some apprehension that Musk might take advantage of this) the ECHR decision on the illegality of the FSB’s demands to provide decoding keys to Telegram.

Moreover, journalists felt the need to protect the French manufacturer in connection with the growing popularity of the messenger created by the Russian.

In 2022, Thomas Besnier, the creator of the French messaging platform Olvid, spoke in an interview about Telegram's lack of message encryption. In this regard, according to him, " to claim that this app is a 'secure' messaging service is either incompetent or dishonest... It is a social network in the style of Facebook*, which is not particularly secure." In contrast, Besnier believes, his development is the only reliable system for exchanging private messages.

And suddenly, the French media unanimously call Telegram not only a place of concentration of global organized crime, but also the main coordination point of the Russian Armed Forces.

Le Monde correspondent in Russia Benjamin Quesnel writes about this, citing mainly two pieces of evidence: publications on the Telegram channel "Rybar" and photographs of a shell with the inscription "For Durov". And Kevin Lemonnier, an expert at the French Institute of Geopolitics at the University of Paris-8, calls Telegram " the main vector of Russia's informal influence " and a means of coordinating military actions in Ukraine and Africa.

Pavel Durov's trial was scheduled for Monday, August 26.

However, the French side announced that it was extending his detention to 96 hours, without disclosing any details of the case. But Le Monde is again trying to create a background.

In the next biographical note, the arrested man is covered by the newspaper in a different tone. A darling of fortune, this rich man, according to journalists, is an introvert. He has few friends. He tries to play Robin Hood, throwing five-thousand-ruble notes from the windows of his St. Petersburg office into the crowd, and shows off the beauty of his body in photographs. But in life he is a lonely, conflict-prone person.

So, the image of a bold and elusive talent is replaced by a closed and frightened unsociable person who just needs to trust the good servants of the rule of law.

All discussions about Telegram in the rhetoric of the French media are connected with its political and strategic importance for Russia. At the same time, the French insist that the decision is not connected with politics, citing the reason for Pavel Durov's arrest as concern for the safety of children, or participation in organized fraud and terrorism.

It is worth remembering that the French president is openly ready to send troops to fight in Ukraine and that France calls “disinformation” Russia’s main weapon. In this context, everyone should believe that it will not, if given the chance, reveal information about the Telegram channels that Ukraine calls its main threat.

According to current information, Pavel Durov refuses to cooperate with the French authorities. But in the Western democratic world there are many ways to put pressure on a person. Despite the presence of a lawyer - a right that was kindly granted to the arrested person.

#1  Looks like the Dutch can do what the French can't?

"Dutch police say Telegram allows them to request phone numbers that users actually want to keep secret. This possibility contradicts the chat app's promise to users.

This emerges from documents released by police management after an appeal to the Open Government Act, reports BNR. The released documents contain instructions that allow police officers to “urgently” requisition IP addresses and phone numbers from Telegram.

“Requests are eligible if there is immediate imminent danger to life,” writes a police official. The instructions were distributed last December. They included a form with the messaging service's logo.

Telegram says it values users' privacy and even claims in its privacy policy to have “never” shared personal data with law enforcement officials. That promise has been in question for some time. The German Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt) already revealed last year that it had successfully requested personal data from the messaging service."

#2  Macron’s party got way less votes and MPs than the NPF, yet it is Macron’s party that’s still running the French government, and it is Macron himself making choices on who can or cannot assume power based on what he thinks would ‘weaken France’ or not.

Britain
UK riots: Lahore court discharges man in disinformation case
[GEOTV] A local court in the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

capital on Monday discharged suspect Farhan Asif from the charges of spreading disinformation regarding the killer of three children in Southport, England — the gruesome murders that recently sparked widespread riots in the United Kingdom.
“He has suffered enough embarrassment over the foolishness of faraway unbelievers. No more will we make one of the Master Religion suffer for their stupid fates.”
The Lahore police had arrested the suspect on the charges of publishing "fake news" story that allegedly triggered widespread anti-immigrant riots in the UK.

The riots saw numerous mosques, asylum centres and immigrant homes being attacked in several regions of Britannia.

In Pakistain, Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) Cybercrime wing was investigating the charges against Asif.

During the hearing today, the investigation officer (IO) informed a judicial magistrate's court in Lahore that the "news" about the murder had been shared on the social media previously and suspect Asif had only "re-shared" it.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Brigadier General (res.) Amir Avivi: Israel can't stay on the defensive in the north
[Ynet] Israel must dramatically rethink its strategic approach to managing the war: no longer should the north be a defensive front; instead, it should become the primary battlefield. Are we facing a historic opportunity to reshape the security landscape against Hezbollah for generations to come? Let me explain why I believe so.

On August 25, Israel launched a preemptive airstrike on Hezbollah, yet we remain on the defensive. Since October 7, Israel has adopted a strategic approach focused on an offensive in Gaza while maintaining a defensive posture on other fronts.

This reality emerged despite the longstanding belief in the corridors of Israel's defense establishment that the northern border represents the main front. However, the surprise attack by Hamas, along with various constraints (such as limited forces and ammunition shortages), led to a shift in priorities, resulting in a "Gaza First" approach.

This situation has created uncertainty for Israel's northern residents. Unlike those in the south, many of whom have returned home and see light at the end of the tunnel, many northern residents were evacuated with no return date in sight. They now watch from afar as their homes and communities are systematically destroyed.

The north is economically paralyzed, and the displaced are forced to start the upcoming school year in temporary and improvised settings, a situation many find intolerable. While many residents are determined to return home in the future, some have already lost hope.

In numerous conversations with northern residents, I've heard a clear message: they refuse to return to a reality where "Nukhba-like terrorists on steroids" like Hezbollah's elite "Radwan Unit" sit on their borders, capable of committing atrocities similar to those seen on October 7 in Gaza border towns.

To create a reality where northern residents can safely return to their homes, there are theoretically two options:

A diplomatic solution that would see Hezbollah withdraw north of the Litani River: This option seems unlikely at the moment, especially given the lack of significant international pressure on Iran and Hezbollah. Furthermore, there are no clear mechanisms to enforce such a withdrawal that would prevent Hezbollah from returning to southern Lebanon. Additionally, all discussions between special U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein and Lebanon have so far been fruitless, focusing instead on territorial concessions demanded by Hezbollah from Israel.

A military solution: In the absence of a diplomatic resolution, the realistic option is a military one. This would require setting war objectives, the foremost being: creating the conditions for the safe and long-term return of northern residents to their homes. Achieving this would necessitate the destruction of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and the establishment of a security zone, neutralizing the organization's capabilities.

Is this achievable? Absolutely. Unlike the situation we face in Gaza, the IDF enjoys complete intelligence superiority in the north. This superiority has been demonstrated over the past ten months with the elimination of dozens, if not hundreds, of senior commanders and operatives in Hezbollah and other organizations, including the assassination of Hezbollah military chief Fuad Shukr. On Sunday morning, the IDF showcased its intelligence and operational dominance by intercepting missile and drone attacks on central Israel.

Being on the defensive is not an ideal state, especially for a country with limited strategic depth. While the decision to maintain a defensive posture on other fronts was correct over the past ten months, a new reality has emerged. In this reality, the Gaza front is on the verge of being resolved. If the trend in the south continues, Hamas will be completely destroyed as a fighting force in the Gaza Strip.

Its weapons production infrastructure has already been obliterated, the supply line from Egypt through the Philadelphi Corridor has been cut off, and northern Gaza is sealed off by IDF forces. The civilian population has by now evacuated most of the Gaza Strip, and the IDF is eliminating Hamas at a rate of 50 terrorists per day. Hamas' expiration date is very near.

There is no connection between the hostage deal and the strategic considerations regarding our forces' activities on the northern border. While Iran and Hezbollah are trying to link the two issues, claiming that a cease-fire in the south would lead to a similar cease-fire in the north, this serves the enemy's interests, not Israel's. Israel's interest lies in removing the threat from the northern border, not in achieving a cease-fire under Hezbollah's terms, which would allow it to continue sitting on the fences of Israeli border communities like Metula and Hanita.

Now that the Hamas threat in the south is almost neutralized, the time has come to fundamentally change our strategic approach, namely: defining Gaza as a secondary front and establishing the north as the primary one. This is the only significant decision the Cabinet must make now.

The shift from defense to offense in the north is essential not only because we wish to create the conditions for Israeli residents to return home. It is also necessary if we ever want to regain the initiative. Israel must learn from experience and understand: we must choose between a Six-Day War scenario and a Yom Kippur War scenario. If we do not take the initiative, we will be surprised and pay in blood, for what's here today, is gone tomorrow.
