She starred in numerous musicals, comedies, and dramas throughout the 1940s and 1950s, including "I Wonder Who's Kissing Her Now," "Look for the Silver Lining," and "Love Nest." June retired from acting in the 1950s to focus on her family, but she returned briefly in the 1970s to star in a few television shows and films. She passed away in 2005 at the age of 79 in Encino, California, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hollywood's brightest stars.

Israel coordinates delivery of 25,100 polio vaccine vials to Gaza amid fears of outbreak
[IsraelTimes] Vials enough to inoculate 1.25 million people, over half of Strip’s population, as aid groups call for weeklong truce for vaccination drive following 1st case of polio in 25 years.

Israel said it delivered 25,100 vials of the polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...

has urged an inoculation campaign in the Strip following the first case of polio there in 25 years.

The vaccines will be enough to inoculate 1,255,000 people, just over half of the Strip’s population, according to COGAT, Israel’s civilian coordination agency for the Paleostinian territories, which released footage of the delivery.

COGAT said "international and local medical teams" will administer the vaccines in various locations over the coming days to children who have not yet received a dose, "as part of the routine humanitarian pauses that will allow the population to reach the medical centers where the vaccinations will be administered."

The World Health Organization and UNICEF, the UN child welfare agency, have said that fighting in Gaza must pause for at least seven days to vaccinate some 640,000 children. The agencies say the campaign will be carried out in every municipality in Gaza, with help from 2,700 workers.

COGAT has vowed a "joint effort" with the international community to combat polio in Gaza. On Friday, five trucks brought into the Strip equipment to store and transport the vaccines, COGAT said, adding that it had coordinated the delivery with UNICEF.

According to COGAT, "282,126 vials of the polio vaccine, intended for 2,821,260 vaccinators," have been brought into Gaza through Kerem Shalom since the war was sparked on October 7 with the Hamas

Before the war, 99% of Gaza’s population was vaccinated against polio. That figure is now 86%, according to the WHO.

The territory’s healthcare system has been devastated, and workers are overwhelmed. Only about a third of Gaza’s 36 hospitals and 40% of its primary healthcare facilities are functioning, according to the UN.

said Washington was working with Jerusalem in order to coordinate a vaccination plan which he said would roll out in the coming weeks.

NYT: US giving ‘priceless’ help to Israel in hunt for Sinwar, but he remains elusive
[IsraelTimes] US-Israeli team working intensively for 10 months on locating Hamas leader in Gaza, report says, though one source claims Jerusalem is benefiting more from the relationship than DC
There’s always that one guy. Don’t be that guy.
Israel and the US have been cooperating for more than 10 months in the hunt for elusive Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
leader Yahya Sinwar, The New York Times

...which still proudly claims Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...

reported on Sunday, detailing the intensive effort to find the architect of the October 7 invasion and slaughter in southern Israel.

Citing two dozen unnamed officials from Israel and the US, the report said the two countries — both of which classify Hamas as a terrorist organization — have jointly poured vast resources into the hunt for Sinwar, including "ground penetrating radar" supplied by the US.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
despite the intense cooperation, which one Israeli official described to the newspaper as "priceless," another source familiar with the arrangement said it was "very lopsided," with Israel gaining far more from the US than it was sharing in return.

According to this source, the Americans have shared information leading to Hamas leaders other than Sinwar, hoping to receive reciprocated Israeli intelligence that would lead them to the remaining American hostages in Hamas captivity, but Israel has not been as forthcoming.
Be trustworthy, my dear, and you are more likely to be trusted. You can start by discontinuing all support to the anti-Bibi movement, and stop trying to protect Hamas and Hezbollah from the consequences of their actions. Well, not you, exactly, but the Harris/Biden administration altogether.
Describing the joint effort, the report says a joint Israeli-American intelligence force was set up and tasked with monitoring Sinwar’s communications, which were conducted electronically at the beginning of the war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
but have since been shifted to couriers, due to the scarcity of fuel to power generators and to evade interception.

While Sinwar was still communicating with his organization electronically, the team was able to monitor Sinwar’s calls with other Hamas officials.

During this period, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pushed his government to okay shipments of fuel into Gaza to power cell networks needed to keep Sinwar communicating electronically, so Israel could continue eavesdropping on the Hamas leader, the New York Times reported.

Though they could not pinpoint the Hamas chief’s location, the intercepted communications allowed the teams to piece together a picture of his life in Hamas’s tunnels, including discovering that Sinwar regularly monitors Hebrew media and watches the 8 p.m. Israeli news, according to the newspaper.

Gallant initially ordered fuel supplies to Gaza cut along with other goods on October 7, arguing they would be used to bolster Hamas and would power generators to keep oxygen flowing into the group’s vast tunnel system.

In November, following heavy international pressure, the war cabinet voted to begin allowing in fuel shipments, over the objections of right-wing members of the government who have pushed to cut any aid into Gaza until all hostages are released.

Despite the shipments of fuel, Sinwar long ago stopped communicating electronically, making it much more difficult for officials and ceasefire negotiators to track him, the report noted.

The US and Israel believe Sinwar spent the first weeks of the war hiding in a tunnel under Gaza City, where the report said IDF troops found footage of Sinwar moving his family to another locale.

From Gaza City, Sinwar was believed to have moved to tunnels under Khan Younis, where he came close to being captured at the end of January but fled just before the army raided his bunker.

According to the NYT, this escape was hasty, with Sinwar leaving behind roughly a million dollars in shekels in the tunnel.

As part of its war with Hamas in Gaza, the IDF has eliminated many members of the terrorist organization’s leadership over the last 10 months. Included on the list of targets were the organization’s top three leaders, Sinwar, former political leader Ismail Haniyeh
...became Prime Minister of Gaza after the legislative elections of 2006 which Hamas won. President Mahmoud Abbas dismissed Haniyeh from office on 14 June 2007 at the height of the Fatah-Hamas festivities, but Haniyeh did not acknowledge the decree and continues as the PM of Gazoo while Abbas maintains a separate PM in the West Bank...
, and Mohammad Deif.

Deif was killed in an Israeli Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Gaza in July. Haniyeh was killed in a kaboom in Tehran at the end of the month, but Israel has not officially confirmed any involvement in the liquidation. Now, Sinwar, who replaced Haniyeh as Hamas’s political leader, is the most big shot on the list who has yet to be captured or killed.

Some sources in the NYT report believe eliminating Sinwar is the achievement Israel needs to declare that Hamas has been fully defeated, and will make Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu more amenable to ending the military campaign in Gaza.

It is unclear, however, how Sinwar’s death would affect negotiations for a hostage-for-ceasefire deal, as the report says the Hamas leader has had to okay every development in the talks in Doha and Cairo.
Given that Hamas is playing everyone for suckers while they wait for Allah, Iran, or America to step in and force Israel to surrender, the permanent absence of Mr. Sinwar from the proceedings will have very little effect. In fact, like Japan after Nagasaki and Hiroshima, his descent into Hell will likely concentrate his successors’ minds immensely.
The war in Gaza broke out on October 7 following an unprecedented surprise attack by Hamas in which hard boyz rampaged through southern Israel murdering some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and taking 251 hostages. The attack was widely believed to have been engineered by Sinwar, who was released from Israeli prison as part of a 2011 prisoner exchange for IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Sarah Palin's Defamation Suit Against New York Times Revived by Second Circuit Court
[PJMedia] Defamation isn't always easy to prove in court. If it were, the New York Times and the Washington Post would be launching GoFundMe pages and holding bake sales to pay off their legal bills. Most prominent Republican candidates and politicians probably have at least a dozen legitimate defamation lawsuits against various mainstream media outlets that they'd file right away if they had a decent chance of winning.

With publications like the Times and WaPo, the line between editorial opinion and journalism was obliterated years ago. They're not news organizations, they're one big op-ed. The editorial boards of both use their respective opinion sections to launch attack narratives that will, more often than not, be reinforced by their "journalists."

Prior to the political ascent of Donald Trump, Sarah Palin had been the most maliciously maligned Republican for years. In 2017 — nine years after she'd been on the GOP presidential ticket — Palin had had enough and decided to take the New York Times to court. Palin failed in that effort but is now getting a chance for a new trial.

The New York Post:

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said Palin can try again to prove that the Times should be liable for a 2017 editorial that incorrectly linked her to a mass shooting six years earlier that killed six people and seriously wounded Democratic U.S. congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

Lawyers for Palin argued that U.S. District Judge Jed Rakoff, who oversaw the February 2022 trial, wrongly excluded evidence of the Times’ actual malice and wrongly instructed jurors to disregard some of that evidence.

A judge putting his thumb on the scale during a trial to be unfair to a hated Republican? Who ever heard of such a thing?!?!?

Again, defamation suits are an uphill battle. Sarah Palin and her legal team may have a dual purpose here, however.

More from the Post:

Media critics, and Palin herself, have viewed the case as a possible vehicle to overturn New York Times v. Sullivan, the landmark 1964 U.S. Supreme Court decision that set a high bar for public figures to prove defamation.

It's a safe bet that the Times wasn't running opinion pieces about the desperate need to change the Supreme Court back then.

Government Corruption
Flip-Flop: Keeping Kennedy ON the Ballot
[Business Insider] Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dropped out of the presidential race because the Dems crushed him with lawfare last week to help former President Donald Trump win, but things aren't going quite as planned.

While announcing the suspension of his long-shot presidential campaign, Kennedy said he was specifically removing his name from the ballot in about 10 swing states.

"Our polling consistently showed that by staying on the ballot in the battleground states, I would likely hand the election over to the Democrats, with whom I disagree on the most existential issues," Kennedy said at a news conference before endorsing Trump.

But at least three states have already disrupted Kennedy's plan. Michigan, a key battleground state, said it was too late for Kennedy to withdraw. Wisconsin, another crucial swing state, also denied Kennedy's request to be removed from the ballot. Colorado, notably less competitive for Trump than Michigan or Wisconsin, also denied Kennedy removal from the ballot.

However, Kennedy succeeded in getting himself booted from the ballot in some important swing states, including Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. He's also been removed from Florida, Ohio, and Texas ballots.

More Wind Turbine Problems
[Hot Air] Wind turbines in Schuyler County, Missouri, seem to be having problems remaining upright. This happened Sunday morning. And as I looked around for more information, there were more turbines in Schuyler County that had either gone over or had chunks fly off onto the deck below.

This turbine came down in April in the same county and is owned by the same company. All wind turbines in Adair and Schuyler counties have been temporarily turned off while Ameren tries to figure out why the entire top of one turbine fell to the ground late last week and was destroyed.

The offshore wind industry is waking up to more disheartening news- another GE Vernova turbine blade has failed, this one off the northeast coast of England.

The failure occurred Thursday morning on an installed GE Vernova’s Haliade-X turbine at Dogger Bank A offshore wind farm.

The towers planned right now for the East Coast are enormous, and I haven't seen the stats for the floating turbines they want for the Pacific. But the newest turbines planned for off-shore projects in the UK are mind-numbingly huge - obscenely so. And will cover hundreds of square miles of ocean.

And there was one more little nugget of information I learned about these massive abominations where none should be, and I really thought about it when I read of the fishermen's defiant boat parade around the Vineyard Wind towers.

In the U.S., the radar interference issue emerged when Cape Wind was proposed and the potential of its wind turbines to disrupt the radar of neighboring military bases became a concern. The initial solution was to propose a huge vessel exclusionary area around the 24-square-mile wind farm.

The issue has not gone away as the Coast Guard has noted that radar interference will prevent it from conducting search-and-rescue operations within wind farms. Given the size of proposed East Coast wind farms, substantial areas where commercial and sport fishing is done, and where commercial ships and pleasure boats transit, the loss of the Coast Guard’s ability to operate in fulfillment of its mission is unacceptable.

That's before one even gets to the part about some of these towers being built 500+ feet above the FAA standards for air traffic. FSIN calls information about Muslim oppression in Surovikino colony fake
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] Information about the oppression of Muslims in Penal Colony No. 19 in Surovikino, where hostage-taking took place on August 23, is false, the Federal Penitentiary Service Directorate for the Volgograd Region stated, without providing evidence to support its claims.

As reported by the Caucasian Knot", on August 23, in colony No. 19 in Surovikino, four prisoners (natives of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), declaring themselves supporters of the "Islamic State"*, took 12 people hostage. Three employees of the colony were killed, two more later died in the hospital. As a result of the assault, the participants in the seizure were killed.

In IK No. 19 in Surovikino, where the prisoners took the colony employees hostage, the living conditions are extremely poor, and provocations against Muslims are practiced, which could lead to a riot, said human rights activist Igor Nagavkin. The reason for the incident was the dehumanization of the FSIN system, human rights activist Anna Karetnikova and journalist Vyacheslav Lemkus are sure.

"There was oppression of Muslims. When they were placed in punishment cells, their Korans and rugs were taken away from them. Although according to the Constitution and laws, these items are allowed when kept in punishment cells and punishment cells," Igor Nagavkin told the "Caucasian Knot."

The Federal Penitentiary Service Administration for the Volgograd Region called the information about poor conditions in Colony No. 19 and the persecution of Muslims unreliable.

"The information posted on one of the Telegram channels that the IK-19 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Volgograd Region has poor conditions and provocations were staged against convicted Muslims is fake," Interfax quoted the agency's press service as saying. The publication does not provide evidence to support this claim.

The day before, the agency also denied, without providing evidence, the report that prisoners were encouraged with mobile phones and moonshine. "The information that in IK-19 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Volgograd Region, the employees of the institution encouraged convicts with moonshine and mobile communications is fake," TASS quoted the agency's report on August 26.

The regional department's Telegram channel did not contain any refutations as of 20:00 Moscow time.

The fact that in the colony, convicts had the opportunity to buy phones with Internet access, so they could read prohibited literature, and for exceeding the plan they could receive packages or visits, was reported on August 25 by the Telegram channel Mash. The report also says that there was a homemade moonshine still in the colony.

The hostage-taking took place at a meeting of the disciplinary commission, where cases of malicious violators are considered, among other things. The participants in the hostage-taking declared themselves supporters of the terrorist organization "Islamic State", banned in Russia by the court, according to  the  "Caucasian Knot" report.

The hostage-taking in Surovikino  was the second  in the Southern Federal District in three months. It was preceded by a similar incident that occurred in mid-June in the Rostov pretrial detention center. In both cases, the attackers declared themselves supporters of the "Islamic State"*. The details were collected by the "Caucasian Knot" in the report " Hostage Taking in the Volgograd Colony and Rostov Pretrial Detention Center in the Summer of 2024 ".

Ukrainian perspective: Operation in Kursk region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Korrespondent] 16:22 Zelensky said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region "helped" Ukraine "a lot" because the number of calls for "peace talks" with Moscow has decreased. At the same time, he stressed that the operation in the Kursk region is defensive, and Kiev does not need foreign lands and citizens.

15:47 IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said after visiting the Kursk NPP that he will visit Kyiv next week and meet with Zelensky. According to the agency's Director General, cases of military activity near the Kursk NPP "raise concerns for its safety."

14:51 Russia, thanks to the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region, has moved some of its troops from the Kharkiv and Zaporizhia directions, Zelensky said. At the same time, the Donetsk region remains a strategic target for the Russian Federation, so it is not withdrawing its troops from there, the president added.

14:38 Zelensky stated that the operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region is one of the points of the plan for Ukraine's victory. At the same time, the president emphasized that it is in no way connected with the meeting in Qatar on stopping strikes on energy infrastructure, which Western media had previously written about. "The Kursk operation is not connected with any of the points of the peace formula. Is the Kursk operation connected with the Second Peace Summit? Yes, because it is one of the points of the plan for Ukraine's victory. The Kursk operation had and has completely different goals than the meeting on energy with colleagues," the head of state noted.

14:31 Zelensky claims that the Kursk operation stopped the occupation of the Kharkiv and Sumy regions: "There are goals that I can say, and very important goals that I cannot say. The Kursk operation brought several things - the occupation of the Kharkiv region was stopped. We had information about the creation of buffer zones in the Kharkiv region, and then in the north - we understood that the Sumy region, Chernihiv region could be in the plans ... The sequence of the desire for these buffer zones was unknown to us, but we understood that this could be. The Kursk operation resolved the issue of not the occupation of the Sumy region and not the occupation of the Chernihiv region. And it also defeated a large number of troops."

14:10 The Russian Army concentrated a significant number of troops in the Kursk direction and planned an offensive operation in this direction, Syrsky reported. Therefore, according to him, the goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Kursk region was to create a security zone, stop shelling from the territory of the Russian Federation, protect civilian objects in the Sumy region, and preempt the enemy. Another task was to divert significant enemy forces from other directions.

13:50 Publics write that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have taken control of the village of Kazachya Loknya in the Kursk region.

13:31 Russia has transferred 30,000 troops from Ukraine to the Kursk direction, Syrsky reported: "The Kursk operation has diverted a significant number of troops. At the moment, we can state that about 30,000 troops have already been transferred to the Kursk direction, and this figure is growing." In particular, because of this, the enemy has reduced its activity in the south. At the same time, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine added that the enemy is trying to withdraw units from other directions, while in Pokrovsk, on the contrary, it is increasing its efforts.

Syrsky also reported that in the Kursk region the Ukrainian Armed Forces already control 1,294 square kilometers and about 100 populated areas, and 594 Russian servicemen have been taken prisoner.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: August 27, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title.

[Korrespondent] 19:20 During a massive attack on August 26, Russia used a Kalibr missile with a cluster warhead for the first time, the National Police reported.

19:09 The curfew has been extended in three communities of Donetsk Oblast: in all settlements of Selydivska and Kurakhivska communities, restrictions on movement will be in effect from 15:00 to 11:00 the next day, and in the territory of Konstantinovka community - from 17:00 to 9:00, said the head of the OVA Vadim Filashkin. He also once again called on residents of the region to evacuate.

18:48 The death toll from the Russian strike on Krivoy Rog has risen to three, with one more person still missing, said OVA head Serhiy Lysak.

18:36 Stoltenberg said that he will convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council on August 28 at the request of Kiev.

18:29 Ukraine's war with Russia will end with dialogue, Zelensky said: "Of course, everything will end with dialogue. But we need to have strong positions before this dialogue."

18:13 On Wednesday, August 28, measures to limit electricity consumption will be in effect across the country. Two stages of shutdowns will be in effect in all regions throughout the day, Ukrenergo reported.

17:40 The United States has upgraded the electronic warfare systems on the F-16 fighters that Ukraine received, the US Air Force's 350th Spectrum Warfare Wing reported. "In order to effectively integrate the F-16 into the Ukrainian Air Force, its electronic warfare subsystems had to be reprogrammed to be effective against Russian threats," the US military explained.

16:54 Russian troops have occupied 27% of Ukraine’s territory, Zelensky said.

16:36 Zelensky spoke about the need to return Ukrainians to Ukraine, but without coercion. According to him, Ukraine plans to create a specialized Ministry of Unity for this: "If we do not return 7.5 million Ukrainians, if we do not bring all taxpayers out of the shadows, we will have a serious challenge after the war... Therefore, we need to return the adult population to Ukraine. We need to return our children, students, etc. Without coercion. Create all the conditions so that they want to do this."

16:22 Zelensky said that dialogue with Putin is currently meaningless: "With Putin, not just compromises, but dialogue with Putin in principle today... is empty, meaningless. Because he does not want to end the war diplomatically. He is supposedly ready to do it diplomatically, but to give him 30% of our land. It seems to me that we cannot play along with him in this."

The president also noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation in the Kursk region "helped" Ukraine "a lot", since the number of calls for "peace talks" with Moscow has decreased. At the same time, he emphasized that the operation in the Kursk region is defensive, Kyiv does not need foreign lands and citizens.

16:03 Ukrainian manufacturers can produce 1.5-2 million drones per year, but there is not enough money for this, Zelensky said.

15:47 IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said after visiting the Kursk NPP that he will visit Kyiv next week and meet with Zelensky. According to the agency's Director General, cases of military activity near the Kursk NPP "raise concerns for its safety."

15:18 Zelensky said that Russia will lose 50-60 thousand of its people near Pokrovsk - just like it did with Bakhmut. According to the head of state, the Russians will continue to put pressure on the Pokrovsk direction.

15:11 Russia's participation in the second Peace Summit is the desire of all countries, because they believe that this will be the way to end the war, Zelensky said. "We will prepare a plan, and representatives of the Russian Federation, if they want, will be present. Otherwise, we may lose a large number of countries at the second summit," the head of state added.

15:02 Rotations have begun at the front for the first time, "but they are not fundamental yet," Zelensky said: "The number of people who have begun to prepare has increased. This will greatly help the guys to have at least some rotations. Because some rotations have begun for the first time. I cannot call them fundamental rotations yet. But I will be frank: there is a beginning, this is very important. And we are constantly talking about strengthening Pokrovsk."

14:56 Zelensky refused to comment on the situation at the Kyiv hydroelectric power station after yesterday's massive Russian shelling: "I don't really like energy PR. I don't really support it when the enemy knows what damage he has caused. Let the information about the state of our energy facilities and what we are doing there now be kept quiet."

14:47 Ukraine has successfully tested its first ballistic missile of its own production, Zelensky said. He also said that during yesterday's Russian attack, some missiles were shot down by F-16s.

14:42 Ukraine will not extend the agreement with Russia on gas transit - this is the end of it, Zelensky said. "As for transit from other companies: if the request of some of our European colleagues continues, we will consider their requests," the president added.

Zelensky also said that he would present Biden with a plan for a Ukrainian victory in September. According to the president, this plan will also be handed over to US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. And in November, the document will be ready for the Second Peace Summit. At the same time, Zelensky again emphasized that Ukraine is not ready to exchange its territories as part of any negotiations.

14:22 Lavrov said that Russia "will not bite" at the Peace Summit with Ukraine in a country of the Global South, "if it follows the same logic as the first one." At the same time, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that if the West is interested in ending the war in Ukraine, then it is necessary to sit down at the negotiating table.

"First of all, this concerns the Pokrovsk and Kurakhovsky directions. Of course, the enemy understands this, so it is concentrating its main efforts in the Pokrovsk direction, where its most combat-ready units are concentrated," the commander-in-chief noted.

In the Pokrovsk direction, according to him, the situation is difficult, because on average more than 50 combat contacts occur here daily. The enemy is trying to seize a section of the Konstantinovka-Pokrovsk highway and disrupt the logistics of the Defense Forces. "The enemy is paying a very high price, the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to stop the advance. Every day in this direction our soldiers neutralize up to 300 invaders. The situation is under our control, the command is doing everything possible to stabilize the situation," Syrsky added.

13:55 Lavrov said that the doctrine of Russia's use of nuclear weapons "is currently being clarified." He also called the discussion of Ukraine's possible use of Storm Shadow missiles for strikes deep into Russia "playing with fire." In turn, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that the consequences of Russia's actions in response to the US involvement in the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attack on the Kursk region "could be much more severe than they have been so far."

13:28 One of the countries of the Global South should soon begin an investigation into crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine, which will expand the geography of bringing Russian war criminals to justice, said Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin. He also reported that in Ukraine, during the full-scale war, more than 136 thousand war crimes by the Russian Federation have been registered, 660 suspects have been identified, and 126 war criminals have been convicted.

13:00 Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently returned from Kiev, had a telephone conversation with Putin. Modi said that in a conversation with Putin he "shared conclusions" about his recent visit to Ukraine. The day before, he also discussed this visit with Biden.

12:52 The location of the Second Peace Summit has not yet been determined, but Ukraine would like the conference to be held in one of the countries of the Global South, Yermak said. "The main condition is the readiness of the joint plan that we are working on. It will be ready in a short time," the head of the President's Office added. He also noted that he encounters "a lot of skepticism" and questions about "what if Russia does not agree." Yermak emphasized that the main thing is not Russia's position, but support for the common plan by all countries.

12:46 Ukraine will present the Biden administration with a list of targets in the Russian Federation that it will be able to hit with long-range weapons if it is given permission, Politico writes, citing sources. This will be another attempt by Kiev to convince Washington that this restriction should be lifted. The list of targets will be brought to the United States by the head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.

12:29 In Zaporizhia, the number of people killed in the night attack has risen to three - one of the victims has died in the hospital, said the head of the OVA Ivan Fedorov. One victim remains in the hospital, two others refused further hospitalization.

12:25 As a result of an enemy attack on Bogodukhov in the Kharkiv region, one person was killed and six were wounded, the prosecutor's office reported.

12:22 Shmyhal announced the introduction of the "fight or work" principle to de-shadow the labor market. According to the prime minister, it will include a number of measures aimed at legalizing jobs, increasing average salaries, and increasing budget revenues.

12:17 Russians shelled Marganets in the Nikopol district of the Dnipropetrovsk region, one person was killed, reported the head of the OVA, Serhiy Lysak.

12:14 Russia yesterday attacked Ukrainian distribution substations with cluster missiles for the first time, Shmyhal said. He added that yesterday's attack damaged "a very small amount of equipment thanks to the first and second levels of protection."

11:41 As a result of Russian attacks on Tuesday, August 27, all regions of Ukraine will be subject to power consumption restrictions, Ukrenergo reported. From 6:00 to 11:00 and from 15:00 to 21:00, four stages of shutdowns will be applied simultaneously, and at other times of the day - three stages.

11:33 Three people injured in yesterday's massive attack have died in hospital in Poltava Oblast, reported OVA head Filipp Pronin.

11:05 China, Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia are concerned about the "softening" of the conditions by Western countries for Ukraine to use the weapons they provided to strike military targets in the Russian Federation, said Li Hui, the special representative of the Chinese government. According to him, Beijing and its three partners from the Global South consider one of the main reasons for the continuation of the war in Ukraine to be the interest of "the military-industrial complex of some countries."

Li Hui added that Brazil, South Africa and Indonesia agree with the Chinese side that "a specific country" is using the war in Ukraine for its own benefit and threatening sanctions against China and other countries that have "normal" economic and trade ties with Russia. Li Hui also expressed hope that "more countries will approve and support the six-point consensus proposed by China and Brazil. Then there will be more hope for de-escalation of the situation and the prospects for peace will be brighter."

10:54 NATO has no information that the drone that flew into Poland the day before was a direct attack by Russia on the Alliance, NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah said. At the same time, she said, it was still "irresponsible and potentially dangerous." The Polish military assumes that it was a Russian Shahed drone, but there is no official confirmation.

10:37 In Sumy Oblast, 20 people were injured as a result of enemy shelling during the day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. A total of 267 strikes from various types of weapons were recorded in 49 settlements of the region.

10:26 As a result of today's massive Russian attack, four people were killed and 16 were injured, Zelensky said.

10:14 In the morning, Russians struck two infrastructure facilities in the city of Bogodukhov in the Kharkiv region, three people were wounded, said OVA head Oleg Sinegubov. In addition, late yesterday evening, the enemy struck an infrastructure facility in the village of Andreyevka in the Izyum district with an Iskander, four people were injured. Another person was wounded as a result of a hit to an infrastructure facility in the village of Kopanka in the Izyum district.

09:48 Russia used 91 air attack weapons to attack Ukraine at night and in the morning, the Air Force reported:

  • three Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles;

  • one Iskander-M ballistic missile;

  • one Iskander-K cruise missile;

  • five X-101 cruise missiles;

  • 81 Shahed-type attack UAVs.

The air defense shot down all five X-101 cruise missiles and 60 attack drones. Another ten drones were lost (probably crashed) on the territory of Ukraine, one crossed the border with Belarus, and about ten more remain in the airspace of Ukraine. Combat operations were conducted in most regions of the country: in the Kyiv, Khmelnytsky, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, Kherson, Nikolaev, Zaporizhia, Khmelnytsky, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv and Kirovohrad regions.

09:35 Ukraine's long-range drone missile Palyanitsa is "a completely new development, from scratch," and not a reworking of a Soviet weapon, one of the specialists involved in the project told the Associated Press. According to him, work on the new weapon began about a year and a half ago. The missile is accelerated by a solid-fuel booster, and then a jet engine is activated. One such missile costs less than $1 million, and the military is turning to businesses to further reduce production costs.

Economy
If Everything Is So Great, Why Are Millions Of Americans Sleeping In Their Vehicles?
[ZeroHedge] Have you noticed an unusual number of vehicles in the parking lots of major retailers in your area at night? If you look closely enough, you will see that many of those vehicles actually have people sleeping in them. At this point, millions of Americans are sleeping in their vehicles every night. This is happening even though we are being told that the economy is just fine. But of course the truth is that the system is failing all around us.

In particular, the cost of housing has become extremely oppressive. In fact, housing in the United States has become more unaffordable than it has ever been before.

This week, I was stunned to read about a 33-year-old man named Ishan Abeysekera that is paying $2,100 a month to share a house with 23 other people…

In a city as notoriously expensive as New York, it’s common to see people in their late 20s and early 30s living with roommates to help manage the high cost of living.

But Ishan Abeysekera has taken that to the next level with his current living situation in Brooklyn: a communal building that he shares with a whopping 23 other people.

There are millions of others in a similar position. In recent years, “van life” has become quite trendy, and more than 3 million Americans now fall into this category…

“Van life” or “van living” is a term that is becoming more popular around the country. People packing up their lives, moving into a mobile unit and exploring the states.

According to Yahoo Finance, the number of American van lifers has increased by 63% over the last couple of years, going from 1.9 million in 2020, to 3.1 million in 2022.
Sounds scary. But given that the current American population is heading toward 346 million, that’s less than 1% of the population is living in their vehicles — how does this compare to recent economic downturns, like 2008 subprime mortgage crisis and the dotcom bubble of 2001?
In the old days, if you lived in a van down by the river you were considered to be a bum.“

A lot of these people have jobs, and a lot of these people would not be officially classified as “homeless”.

#2  In auto's?

Our South Side Assoc. is seeing more and more seniors on the streets and camping in wooded areas.

Having sat down and spoken with a few actual homeless that we have helped, and not the increasingly common $$$ grabing pan-handelers.

I have learned a number are drawing Social Sec. and few even have modest retirement checsk coming in. But their income COLA did not keep up with DC Swamp inflationary spending.

Given the way the DC Swamp is handling this, a person could get the idea DC has writen off the seniors.

Like many we are doing what we can to help.

Biden-Harris admin refuses to reveal nationalities of terror watchlist migrants nabbed at border
[FoxNews] The Biden-Harris administration has again blocked a request by Fox News to reveal the nationalities of people on the FBI terror watchlist arrested at the border by Border Patrol, citing the privacy interests of those who were encountered and arguing that it could expose law enforcement "vulnerabilities" and "tip off" terrorists.

"[Customs and Border Protection (CBP)] is committed to protecting the identity of individuals and avoiding divulging information about any individual by either direct or indirect means," the agency said in a letter to Fox. "Releasing data for a particular nationality, or nationalities, that reflect a small number of individuals could lead to identification, especially by organizations familiar with the individuals."

Fox’s Bill Melugin filed a Freedom of Information Act request in October 2023 seeking the nationalities of suspects on the FBI terror watchlist arrested at the southern border entering between ports of entry by Border Patrol.

The request sought only the nationalities of those encountered, not the names or dates of birth or any other identifying information.

In May, CBP told Fox it would not provide the information, although it acknowledged the information is maintained in the Terrorist Screening Dataset (TSDS).

The letter said then that it was applying exemptions to protect the disclosure of files that may create a "clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy" and must balance a public's right to disclosure against an individual's right to privacy.

In its letter to Fox this month, the agency doubled down on that reasoning.

"The privacy interests of third parties (being protected from public disclosure because they could conceivably be subject to harassment and annoyance in his/her private life) far outweigh whatever public interest, if any, exists in having their information released."

The agency also claimed that the release of the information would reveal investigative techniques used in processing and apprehending terrorists.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ukrainian Armed Forces are retreating and preparing to flee. The Russian army is taking control of Donbass
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Sergey Adamov

[REGNUM] Kyiv's attempts to transfer the fighting to Russian territory are predictably failing: the Russian army is repelling new attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. At the same time, Russian forces continue to advance along the entire front in Donbass, pushing back the enemy and preventing it from creating new lines of defense. The most tense section of the front remains the Pokrovsk direction, where the Russian Armed Forces expand the zone of control almost daily. After losing a number of fortified lines and defensive lines, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have not yet managed to stabilize the front line.

According to sources on the ground, Ukrainian troops are building up defenses around individual settlements, so Russian troops are increasingly encircling enemy defense nodes, cutting them off from supplies, and then occupying settlements that end up in the rear.

Using similar tactics, Russian troops liberated the settlements of Kalinovo and Ptichye. To the north, a group of Ukrainian soldiers found themselves in an operational encirclement near the settlement of Grodovka.

The fighting is gradually moving to the area south of the Karlovka-Pokrovsk highway. Fighting is underway for the settlements of Mikhailovka and Memrik, which have partially come under the control of the Russian army.

The advance in the Kalinovo area will make it possible to cut off the route to Karlovka in the near future and put the Ukrainian garrison at risk of encirclement, a source in the Pokrovsk direction told Regnum.

"As far as we know, they are not even trying to regain control of the highway or unblock Karlovka. There are attempts at local counterattacks, but overall - without a critical breakdown. So we should expect that in the near future they will begin to retreat from Karlovka," the source notes.

If the advance in the Memrik area creates a threat to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Karlovka, then from Mikhailovka a road opens to the large settlement of Selidovo, which is only one and a half kilometers to the west.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces Command and local Ukrainian authorities have no illusions and do not expect the situation to change in their favor. The day before, the authorities expanded the zone of forced evacuation of local residents from a number of settlements in the Selydovsky district.

BURNT RESERVES
According to Forbes, Kiev planned to change the situation in Donbass by launching an offensive on the Kursk region. However, journalists note that the tactics did not justify themselves.

"Analysts had previously described the situation around Pokrovsk as 'critical.' And that was before the Russians took several more villages along the road to Pokrovsk, including Orlovka and Nikolaevka. Even after slowing the pace of their advance, Russian troops are continuing to advance, which could lead to the fall of Pokrovsk," Forbes writes.

The defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Pokrovsk will be one of the most severe in the entire period of military operations in Donbass. At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command may regret deploying large forces - potentially 10-15 assault battalions, each of which has up to 400 people - in the Kursk direction.

Remaining in reserve, the units could have been deployed in the Pokrovsk direction at a critical moment. However, these forces were now spent on the Kursk adventure, the publication summarizes.

Ukrainian sources are gradually coming to similar conclusions. Messages from volunteers who have access to fighters from the 47th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which has been fighting from Avdiivka to Pokrovsk since last spring, without rotation or reinforcements, are spreading on social networks.

The 47th Brigade bore the brunt of the losses, both in manpower and armored vehicles. The day before, the brigade lost another M1 Abrams tank. According to researchers, this is already the 20th of 31 vehicles of this model supplied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces by the United States.

PREPARING FOR A "RETREAT TO NEW FRONTIERS"
Simultaneously with the evacuation of a number of populated areas in the Selidovo region, the forced evacuation of civilians was also announced in the area of the populated area of Konstantinovka, which is located west of Chasov Yar and northwest of Toretsk.

This decision by local authorities can be called a kind of preparation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to transfer military operations to the region.

Earlier, the Russian army began a new stage of the offensive in the city of Toretsk, the center of a large agglomeration of the same name. The Ukrainian Armed Forces were forced to abandon most of the settlement of New York, which was located in this area. According to information from the field, some of the Ukrainian Armed Forces units that tried to break out of New York were surrounded. We are talking about two battalions of the 212th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In the Toretsk area, Russian troops are simultaneously continuing their offensive in residential areas and in the outskirts of the city, trying to bypass the defenses of Ukrainian troops.

The offensive is developing in the direction of the settlements of Druzhba and Dachnoye north of Toretsk and Nelepovka to the south. In the city itself, Russian troops managed to take control of the area of the Central City Hospital.

It is noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area are increasingly making attempts to counterattack and are more often retreating without a fight. This may indicate the exhaustion of the reserves of the Ukrainian army in this section of the front, a source of the IA Regnum in the ranks of the 1st Army Corps reports.

"There is information, at the level of rumors so far, that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are planning a retreat in our area. Not immediately, of course, but they will roll back. Now they will play for time while new lines are being built in Konstantinovka and the population is being evacuated. We, as always, continue to fire, do not allow them to retreat in order and are advancing ourselves," the source said.

For Kyiv, the withdrawal of troops from Toretsk and the organization of defense in the Konstantinovka area will mean the loss of a large area of territory and the loss of initiative on a large section of the front.

Russian troops, on the contrary, can use the retreat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack the Ukrainian garrison in Chasovy Yar from the rear or cut it off from supplies altogether.

VAGUE HINTS
As the situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces worsens, the question becomes increasingly acute: is this approach by the Ukrainian command stupidity or a conscious decision?

A number of experts and frontline correspondents note that Kyiv has not yet thrown its existing reserves into battle, which are being stored for some other purpose.

The reserve forces consist of recruits recruited in the winter-spring of 2024 and trained at NATO training grounds. There is no information in open sources about what kind of reserves the Ukrainian Armed Forces have, but rumors suggest that they are about 10-15 infantry and mechanized brigades.

At the same time, Militaryland analysts report that Ukrainian troops are forming new mechanized brigades, which will be assigned numbers in the 160 series. These units will be ready to enter combat by early 2025.

Officials in Kyiv are not saying where the next attack will be, only hinting that it should be truly sudden. At the same time, games of secrecy and vague hints could lead to the Ukrainian Armed Forces finally losing control over the situation in Donbass - they will have nowhere to "counterattack".

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel conducts drone strike on northeastern Lebanon
[IRNA] In a marked escalation of the tit-for-tat engagement, Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
's Hezbollah and Israel keep exchanging fire. News sources report about a new drone attack by the Zionist regime on the northeast of Lebanon.

Al-Mayadeen reported on the early Wednesday morning that an Israeli drone targeted a pickup truck with three missiles in Bakaa, located in the northeast of Lebanon.

More details have not been reported so far.

Earlier, the Lebanese resistance movement announced a drone attack on Zionist military positions in the northern occupied Paleostinian territory.

The group said it targeted the command headquarters of the Sahel Battalion and the Beit Hillel barracks of the Zionist soldiers with explosive drones in response to Israeli attacks on al-Majadal town in southern Lebanon.

Since the onset of Israel's genocidal war on Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, Hezbollah and the Zionist regime are engaged in exchange of fire almost on a daily basis.

Hezbollah largely targets military bases and equipment such as tanks, personnel carriers and armored vehicles as well as espionage installation of the Zionists. A large number of Zionist soldiers have been killed or injured in such operations over the past 10 months.

Bangladesh
Jamaat: Awami League led Liberation War but failed to preserve its achievements
[DHAKATRIBUNE] Jamaat-e-Islami
...The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independent branch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores...
Ameer Shafiqur Rahman said that while the Awami League led the Liberation War, the party has failed to uphold its achievements.

He remarked that more important than how the public views the Awami League is how the party views itself.

He made these comments during a question-and-answer session following a discussion with members of the Indian Media Correspondents Association Bangladesh (IMCAB) at a venue in Dhaka's Moghbazar on Tuesday afternoon.

In response to a question about former Prime Minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. She was President of the Bangla Awami League since the Lower Paleolithic. She is the eldest of five children of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangla. Her party defeated the BNP-led Four-Party Alliance in the 2008 parliamentary elections. She once before held the office, from 1996 to 2001, when she was defeated in a landslide. She and the head of the BNP, Khaleda Zia showed such blind animosity toward each other that they are known as the Battling Begums. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
's stay in India, the Jamaat Ameer said: "After ruling the country for over 15 years, it was not befitting for her to leave the country like Lakshman Sen. Jamaat leaders never left the country; they faced the challenges head-on. Our leaders endured imprisonment and oppression but stayed in the country. They never fled."

When asked about Jamaat's current activities, Shafiqur Rahman said that the judiciary has been destroyed, and a chief justice was forced to leave the country.

There is no longer an Election Commission or electoral system in the country. The police force has become the enemy of the people instead of their friend, he added.

The Jamaat chief said an interim government must be given a reasonable amount of time to prepare for elections, and the country needs to undergo reforms. ''Our current priority is to support the families of those killed and injured in student and public uprisings.''

Jamaat issued a blurb about the IMCAB discussion, saying that their chief expressed a desire for peace and order to return to the country quickly.

He called for reforms to the constitution, administration, judiciary, and political culture.

Shafiqur Rahman emphasized that no divisions should be made based on party or religion and that Jamaat does not believe in retaliatory politics. The party respects everyone's rights.

The Jamaat Ameer also claimed that their party has been subjected to misinformation.

He said: "Whenever any incident occurred in the country, we were blamed. Even when a Member of Parliament was killed in Gaibandha, the prime minister stood in Parliament and blamed Jamaat for the murder, which was later proven false."

Europe
In 25 years, there will be three times more Africans in the EU than Europeans
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Vladimir Dobrynin

[REGNUM] On the evening of August 23, another terrorist attack occurred in Germany: a man armed with a knife attacked citizens in Solingen. Three people were killed, at least eight were injured, five of them seriously. Quite expectedly, the terrorist was detained in a center for the accommodation of "refugees."
He wasn’t actually — he’d been hiding elsewhere when he walked up to a police car and turned himself in. But he had been living in a refugee center some 800 meters from where he started pouncing on passers by. Another Syrian man was arrested during a raid there earlier in the day.
The event is especially flavored by the fact that the victims were visitors to the "Festival of Diversity", dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Solingen, a city that has long been famous for its blades.

Such sacrifices are the price that Europeans are paying for a very targeted policy of their governments. Its essence was voiced literally two days before the Solingen massacre by the member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) Fabio Panetta: European countries must increase economic immigration if they want to overcome the problem of population ageing and achieve sustainable economic growth.

And all this is happening against the backdrop of courts in England rubber-stamping sentences for participants in anti-migrant protests, which in some places have already turned into pogroms.

It is hardly surprising that the opinions of the ruling elite and the common people do not coincide. Europe opened its doors to "labor hands" from the Middle East and Africa long ago and wide open. In the expectation that the newcomers will consider themselves obligated to the good white masters for the rest of their lives for a bowl of soup and a roof over their heads. They will work not out of fear, but out of conscience, without taking into account their own needs and interests.

OLD AGE IS NO JOY
Europe has long been facing the problem of an aging population and the replenishment of the workforce, which creates a disproportion in the ratio between those working and those retiring.

Life expectancy is growing. However, this "medal", which emphasizes the high level of economic development of European society, also has a reverse - negative - side.

According to economists, for every citizen who has retired due to years of service, there should be at least two pairs of working hands in the country's economy. Otherwise, pension payments can only be provided by reaching into the pocket called the budget. Which will force the state to borrow more and more on the domestic and foreign markets.

Or you need to come up with something. Something that promises a quick achievement of the goal and does not require large investments.

In the spring of 2000, the UN issued a report, “Replacement Migration: A Solution to a Declining and Aging Population?”, in which it outlined a recipe for prosperity: “To maintain the required level of pension contributions, Europe needs to accept at least 1 million immigrants per year. ”

It's simple, isn't it? Instead of racking your brains over increasing the birth rate of the native population and the long-term expectation of the younger generation to grow up (it turns out that children don't start working immediately after birth, but after almost two decades), you just need to accept a certain number of foreigners who, by definition, should be grateful for the opportunity to live in a developed society.

50,000 EUROS PER YEAR PER MIGRANT
The very first fulfillment of the annual reception quota (2015 - approximately 1.5 million so-called refugees, a million of whom chose Germany as their dream country) really scared the hospitable hosts.

The "new arrivals" were given social benefits - supposedly for a time, but it is well known that there is nothing more permanent than something declared temporary. The regularity of the subsidies issued, allowing them not to work, only increased the number of those wishing to move from the place that Josep Borrell later called the "jungle" to the "Garden of Eden", as he himself defined it.

The guests quickly settled in, but instead of getting used to the traditions and norms of the hosts, they began to dictate their own terms. There is no need to talk here about how the newcomers established their own rules - it is enough to recall the Christmas (on the eve of the onset of 2016) attacks by refugees on German women in Cologne, Berlin, Dusseldorf and other cities - a total of about 1,000 cases of sexual harassment, robbery and rape.

Or about how in France and Belgium, visitors - at the slightest thing wrong, in their opinion - burn cars. Or set off explosions at the airport. Or run over passers-by with trucks.

But it makes sense to remember that the European press, having barely exhaled words of condolence to the victims, immediately begins to prove that the aliens are good. And that there is no more evil from them than from the natives.

The media prefer not to publish unpleasant data, such as those cited, for example, by the retired French officer and public figure Jacques Guilman: of the “million” who arrived in Germany, only 5% were able to integrate into the labor market, to the chagrin of employers, while the rest live on social benefits or stand in line for them.”

In 2019, the book The Scramble for Europe by American journalist Stephen Smith
…born in America but educated in France and Germany, Mr. Smith edited the French newspapers Libération and Le Monde, where he specialized in Africa before becoming a professor at Duke in 2007...
was published in Spain. In it, the author promised Europeans “a quick solution to the continent’s demographic problem through the arrival and reproduction of Africans on the lands of the Old World.”

The American tried to calm the Europeans by saying that they shouldn't think that the guests are coming expecting to live on the fat social benefits of the Old Continent. No, there are some of them, of course, but they are few. The bulk of those arriving are middle-income people.

"Despite the fact that in many African countries the annual income per person barely reaches 1,000 euros, those going to Europe cannot be considered beggars. After all, in order to get to the final destination of their journey, the applicant must pay a decent amount of money - at least €2,500 - to various intermediaries and organizers of trans-Mediterranean traffic. A low-skilled worker or a poor person simply does not have that kind of money. This means that the European Union gets highly educated people practically for free."
Highly educated for Africa or the Moslem Middle East means what, exactly? Because in 2015 their German hosts were shocked at what the asylum seekers from Syria were unable to do.
Meanwhile, each envoy from Africa is the implementation of the program "one in writing, seven (eight, nine, etc.) in mind." His task is to gain a foothold, to legalize. Having received documents for a temporary/permanent residence permit for himself, he immediately begins the process of "family reunification" - this is how members of his large family become Europeans, who, without putting things off for too long, begin to rapidly contribute to solving the demographic problems of Europe.

The author was embarrassed to mention that, for example, the French state spends about €50,000 per year on each of the foreign immigrants (health care, social services, financial assistance in paying for rented housing, etc.). He also kept quiet about the fact that the notorious 2.5 thousand euros for the person sent to Europe were collected by the entire village.

"THIS WILL END BADLY"
There are many people in Africa, and the population growth is rapid: currently, about 1.4 billion people live on the Black Continent, and by 2050 there will already be 2.5 billion. Africans will be able to easily support European demography and bring it out of the slump.

According to Smith's calculations, by 2050 the number of Africans in the EU (not only those who have moved there, but also those who were born on its territory) could well reach 1.250 billion. The number of native Europeans (in the EU plus Britain), on the contrary, will decrease - from 510 to 450 million (thanks to childfree, the "conscious motherhood" program, same-sex marriages, etc.).

"Measures that encourage the influx of legal foreign workers are a rational response from an economic point of view, " said Panetta, who is also governor of the Bank of Italy. " The entry of regular immigrants must be managed in a coordinated manner within the European Union, strengthening the integration of foreign nationals into the education system and the labor market."

The UN expects the working-age population (15 to 64 years old) to shrink by an average of 0.7% year-on-year over the next decade. It is expected to decline the most in Italy (an average of 1.3%) and the least in France (0.1% year-on-year). This is fueling debate about the need for more immigration to the Old Continent to expand the workforce.

“With populations ageing, net immigration will need to increase significantly simply to maintain the current working-age population,” Capital Economics analyst Adrian Prettejohn said in a note to clients. “It is true that immigration could, in principle, be reduced by policy decisions. We have seen popular support for anti-immigration parties increase in many European countries in recent years. But in practice, we doubt that governments will be willing (or able) to significantly curb immigration, given labour shortages and the damage to the economy that would come from not bringing in workers from outside.”

The company's analysts believe that the most significant reduction in the working-age population will occur in France (-1.9%), Italy (-2.5%) and Germany (-3.4%). And these data differ greatly from UN forecasts.

“The decline in the working-age population will directly translate into lower GDP, and the eurozone’s poor demographic outlook supports our view that the eurozone will lag other advanced economies in the long term,” Prettejohn concludes.

The governments of most EU countries (with the possible exception of the Visegrad Four) are satisfied with this economic justification for supporting and increasing the influx of migrants into Europe. But the population is increasingly expressing concerns that “this will end badly.”

Law-abiding Germans, Spaniards and Italians try to avoid sharp corners when commenting on the actions of the authorities. But they already see the "time bombs" and are cautiously trying to point out to the authorities that they are planting them under Europe with their own hands.

BICKFORD FUSE
Continental media are gradually changing their view of what is happening. But without risking to rebel against the current EU migration policy, but simply broadcasting and posting on the pages the very same concerns. For now - of individual groups of the population in individual locations. The position of the press is "we are not against the authorities, but just in case we hint that there may be problems."

The Spanish El Mundo recently reported in its headline that “the smallest municipality in the autonomous region of Galicia welcomes 280 Malian citizens who are being accommodated for permanent residence.” The greeting, however, as it turns out when reading the article itself, was only expressed by the head of the administration of the settlement of Mondariz-Balneario. The residents of this settlement very reservedly expressed, in the language of diplomats, disappointment.

The native Spaniards can be understood: the population of Mondariz is 703 people. And here the authorities are creating a colony of foreigners, 40% of whom are Galicians. And the autonomous government is debating in full swing how many more migrants can be sent here and to neighboring villages - 400 or 1000?

The locals understand that peaceful coexistence will not last long - everyone read about the massacre in England on the Internet. The incident in Solingen added doubts to the souls of the Spaniards.

Yes, for now the Iberian kingdom is calmer than France, but judging by how the Spaniards are creating migrant enclaves and diasporas with their own hands, the fuse has already been lit.

In Germany, the picture is similar. Berliner Zeitung notes that "Berliners are reacting painfully to luxury apartments for refugees in one of the city's districts."

For the "new Germans" who came from Turkey and Syria, three apartment buildings for 61 families are being built in one of the fashionable areas on Kirchstrasse, a street in the northern part of the German capital. The housing conditions are higher than for the average Berliner. Rents in the area start at 1,400 euros, but for the refugees, everything is free.

"The area of gardens and cottages will be adjacent to a "shelter" for migrants, " Robert R., the owner of one of the chalets, shared his thoughts with the publication's correspondent without getting out of the pool. " Our supermarkets are quite far away here, there is no municipal transport, and it is also unclear what the newcomers will do. They will very quickly become marginalized. My neighbors and I are afraid that migrants will engage in robbery and theft here, and they will have to forget about a quiet life."

"Many Berliners lack living space, and visitors get everything - first and foremost, for free," Robert's neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expresses his displeasure. The reason for this desire is understandable - who wants to get into trouble with the state, but when it comes to a repeat of the "Cologne Christmas nights" or the "Solingen massacre," Berliners will have to show their faces.

And few doubt that the neighborhood will not be peaceful. Especially if they remember that the capital already has 117 refugee reception centers and new ones are being built.

IS THERE A WAY OUT?
Several years ago, the issue of allocating funds for the "development of Africa" was actively discussed at the top of the European Union. The idea, in principle, was quite reasonable: to invest money in the economy of the Black Continent, the education of its inhabitants, to provide them with jobs and a decent existence on their land, thereby reducing the flow of illegal immigrants to Europe. If necessary, select the best and most qualified of those who were trained, and let them into the EU countries.

The talks ended in nothing: according to the official version, the COVID pandemic got in the way, and the supposed “African” money went towards injections and masks.

A similar idea has surfaced now: Austrian writer and leader of the Identity Movement Martin Zellner said in an interview with the Polish publication Myśl Polska that “Europe needs remigration.” He dedicated his new book to this issue.

According to Zellner, who is also considered the ideological leader of the German party Alternative for Germany, the issue of remigration is currently very popular both in the AfD and in the French New Right.

"We now use the term as a blanket term to describe a major change, a 180-degree turn in the whole migration policy. We think we have had too much migration. We cannot bear the consequences of immigration economically and culturally.

So remigration is a general concept to return and repatriate illegal immigrants, limit immigration to Europe, and stop the flow of people who do not help our economic system and are a cultural burden on us, says Zellner.

— It is also about creating incentives for unassimilated people and the parallel communities they have formed to return to their homeland. So it is a very broad definition. In my book I present a concept that could save Europe — make Germany German again, Italy Italian again, Austria Austrian again. I would say that it is an avant-garde concept. Yes, it is something more radical than what we have today in mainstream politics. However, I believe that it will definitely become a very important idea for our politics in the future.”

Martin Zellner proposes leasing entire cities in Africa for 100 years, where immigrants could be returned. And also building new megacities on the free territories, where people returned from Europe would live, work, receive an education, develop culturally, and so on.

In fact, according to the author of the remigration concept, it is “much cheaper and more profitable for Europe than accepting migrants and trying to assimilate the unassimilable.” In Africa, money is ten times cheaper than in Europe, he claims, so the program is not at all utopian, as its opponents believe.

The Grand Turk
Erdogan's Geopolitics: How Türkiye Intends to Dominate the Black Sea
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Semenov

[REGNUM] “Whoever controls the seas controls the world,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on August 24 at the commissioning ceremony of the TCG Pirireis submarine, the first in the Reis-class submarine series.
All hail the coming neo-Ottoman sultinate, Sultan Recep Tayip Erdogan I, “the much beloved”, presiding.
In his speech, the Turkish leader emphasized the importance of control over the seas for world domination: “In order to live on our lands in peace and tranquility, we must have a strong and effective navy.”

Erdogan also added that “Ankara’s friends are watching the country’s steps with admiration, while its opponents are watching with fear.” He recalled the “Blue Homeland” doctrine and emphasized the strategic importance of the submarine force in strengthening this Turkish concept.

From the statements of the Turkish leader, it is obvious that for the Turkish Republic, the foreign policy concept of the "Blue Homeland" is still extremely relevant and determines its guidelines. It underlies, among other things, the programs for building the fleet and international activities.

Therefore, of course, Turkey’s foreign policy itself is not formulated due to some immediate needs and challenges, but is based on developed and implemented geopolitical doctrines that ensure the advancement of its long-term interests.

"STRATEGIC DEPTH" BY AHMET DAVUTOGLU
The Blue Homeland concept was adopted after the implementation of some of Turkey's previous geopolitical constructs reached a dead end. However, this does not mean that their implementation has been abandoned altogether. On the contrary, they all ultimately merge with the Blue Homeland and form a broader geostrategy for Ankara.

Therefore, the undoubted strength that has given Erdogan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) an advantage since its first victory in the parliamentary elections in 2002 and to this day is the presence of a clear conceptual foreign policy line.

Turkey's new goal, couched in slogans and policy documents that year, was to restore a "spiritually oriented" political regime, based on a culturally Muslim but at the same time socially and economically highly developed society, whose ideological and geopolitical orientations had been lost during the years of secularism and movement towards the West.

Combining elements of the Kemalist agreement (the “National Vow”) familiar to all Turks, as well as moderate Islamist and purely pragmatic views, Turkey began consistent work on the formation of a new geopolitical and geo-economic order in the region.

Its foundations were carefully worked out in his work “Strategic Depth” (2001) by the leading ideologist of the AKP, Professor Ahmet Davutoğlu, who later became the Minister of Foreign Affairs and then Prime Minister under President Erdoğan.

The first geopolitical doctrine, which formed the basis of modern Turkish policy, was called “Strategic Depth”. At the same time, most aspects of this geopolitical concept are relevant for Turkey to this day, “Blue Homeland” in its provisions is a part of it, which arose from the direction that spoke about bringing Turkey to the “front lines” of the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins, and subsequently to more distant waters.

Davutoglu believed that Turkey should stop aligning its foreign policy with NATO interests. In his opinion, Brussels assigned Ankara only the role of a buffer state, a “defender of NATO’s geographic perimeter” and an “executor” of the alliance’s regional objectives. This prevented Turkey from realizing the potential of its geostrategic position and deprived it of that very “strategic depth.”

Turkey's new strategy in the 21st century envisaged the use of potential in the East, the development of the Middle Eastern and Islamic vector of Turkey's foreign policy. At the same time, NATO membership would also be preserved, as would Ankara's ties with the West. Together, this was intended to ensure its interests in Europe and the Balkans, as well as in the Middle East and the Islamic world as a whole.

That is, now it was not Turkey that was supposed to become a “buffer” and “military frontier” for NATO and Europe, but the opposite: Brussels and NATO would be used by Ankara as a reliable European rear in the consistent advancement of Turkish national interests in the Middle East and the Mediterranean, where all funds and resources were supposed to be thrown.

It should be noted that observations of Ankara’s actions in the international arena indicate that much of what was laid down in this concept has been successfully implemented.

Among the first practical steps taken by Turkey to implement this doctrine, in particular, we can recall the refusal to provide its territory for the US and British operation against Iraq in 2003. At that time, the role of an outpost of the West already contradicted Ankara's interests. Therefore, Turkey did not interfere in the conflict with Saddam Hussein and continued to solve its own, rather than American-British, problems in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The next stage of the implementation of the “Strategic Depth” was the concept of “Zero Problems with Neighbors”. The actions in this direction were summarized in May 2010 on the pages of the presidential magazine “Foreign Policy” in the article “Turkey’s Problem-Free Foreign Policy” authored by the same Davutoglu, who was already the Minister of Foreign Affairs at that time.

In fact, it was within its framework that the very same “family friendship” between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Recep Tayyip Erdogan was established, and the first attempt to reconcile with Armenia was made within the framework of the so-called “football diplomacy”, when Turkish President Abdullah Gul (the real head of the executive power at that time was Prime Minister Erdogan) first visited this country in 2008.

Finally, an important aspect of “Strategic Depth” is the so-called “rhythmic diplomacy”, that is, Turkey’s entry into all sorts of organizations – from the G20 to the application to the SCO, first announced in 2013, and to BRICS in 2024, as well as the formation of the Organization of Turkic States on the basis of the Turkic Council.

And those very “chairs” on which, according to a number of Russian Turkologists, Turkey should have been sitting uncomfortably all this time, appeared precisely in the doctrine of “strategic depth” called “multi-vectorism.” Ankara has been comfortably seated on them since 2002.

This multi-vector approach was manifested, for example, in the fact that Turkey’s relations with the United States, which were seen primarily through NATO membership, should not conflict with the development of partnership ties and good-neighborliness with Russia.

Also, the process of Turkey's integration into the EU, which was still considered achievable at that time, could have been balanced by the creation of its own or participation in existing integration initiatives with states in the Middle East and Eurasia. This also concerned military ties with NATO, which should not have prevented Ankara from creating its own alliances without the participation of the West.

In particular, the plan to create an Islamic military coalition to fight terrorism as a military alliance of Muslim states originally belonged to Erdogan.

However, the deterioration of relations between Turkey and Saudi Arabia led to Riyadh intercepting and announcing this initiative in 2015, but it was never able to bring it to completion. To this day, it remains largely “on paper.”

NEW STRATEGIC MEANINGS
Of course, the "Arab Spring" forced Turkey to violate many of the principles of the "Strategic Depth" doctrine. It had to abandon "zero problems with neighbors" in favor of confrontation and interference in their internal affairs. This also led to Davutoglu's promotion of more offensive initiatives, which, among other things, cost him his own resignation.

At the same time, during the “Arab Spring” in 2013, a new geopolitical aspect appeared in Turkish geostrategy, which was voiced by Ibrahim Kalin, at that time the chief adviser to the Prime Minister of Turkey (then Erdogan held this position), namely “Precious Solitude”.

This thesis replaced the “zero problems with neighbors,” with which Ankara began to sever relations after it supported the “Arab Spring” processes. First of all, this concerns Syria – the break with it occurred after the start of the civil war there – and Egypt, where Turkey’s ally President Mohamed Morsi was overthrown by the military, and Ankara severed relations with Cairo.

As Kalyn stated, sometimes “you have to stand alone to defend the values you believe are right,” and if that stance could be described as loneliness, it would be “precious loneliness.”

This position also reflected not only the sharp deterioration of relations with many states in the Islamic world and the Middle East – primarily with the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Israel – but also with most NATO allies who did not share Ankara’s ambitions during the Arab Spring and refused to support them.

On the other hand, after Davutoglu went into opposition, the AKP's Islamic-oriented foreign policy of the Arab Spring period was complemented by the nationalist, strongly anti-Western views of the secular nationalists with whom Erdogan entered into an alliance.

Both the AKP's Islamists and nationalists have united to support policies driven by Turkey's foreign policy ambitions, announced in 2002, to become a new global power.

The Blue Homeland doctrine, developed by secular nationalist officers, was taken as the basis of Turkish geostrategy. It justified Erdogan’s previous policies in the Eastern Mediterranean and Libya. Afterwards, it also became the justification for “breaking” the attempts to “encircle” Turkey by a number of Eastern Mediterranean countries with which Ankara had various territorial or ideological disputes.

Instead of the steps to support various Islamic forces in the Middle East in their quest to come to power, which had no continuation, Turkey began to be more concerned about the consequences of the "Arab Spring" itself. As well as the anti-Turkish steps of the states of the region and their desire to unite against Turkey itself, depriving it of that very "strategic depth".

Egypt, Israel, Greece, Cyprus, and to a certain extent Lebanon, all joined forces with the support of France to confront Turkey. The main goal is to prevent it from accessing the rich resources of the Eastern Mediterranean, which, according to the Turkish side, they decided to divide among themselves, thereby “trampling on its legitimate interests.”

Certainly, the growing importance of the Eastern Mediterranean’s energy reserves and the competition to exploit them have added a new dimension to the already tense relations between Turkey and Egypt, and through it with Greece. Athens has taken advantage of Ankara’s isolation in the region to forge close, anti-Turkish relations with Cairo, the Gulf states, and Israel, as well as with France and the United States.

Thus, despite the unconditional presence of elements of the “Strategic Depth” doctrine in Turkey’s foreign policy, the “Blue Homeland” doctrine began to crystallize out of it. It envisaged Turkey’s closer attention to the Eastern Mediterranean, primarily the Aegean, but also the Black Sea and the establishment of Turkish dominance there.

"The Blue Homeland" is a collection of various works by Turkish naval officers, but the most famous of the authors was Admiral Cem Gürdeniz, who outlined it back in 2006.

In fact, Turkey's active participation in the Libyan conflict in 2019-2020 was the first step in implementing this concept. Then Ankara created its foothold in this North African country and began to extend its maritime borders from there to Anatolia, cutting off the gas fields of the Eastern Mediterranean from Greece and the EU. Hence the escalation around the Aegean Islands, on whose demilitarized status Ankara insists.

Finally, the leading role of Turkey in the Black Sea basin was also confirmed by the "grain deal". By closing the straits to NATO and Russian ships, it turned Turkey into the only guarantor of the security of Ukrainian grain transportation in the Black Sea. And that is why it insisted so much on prolonging the deal. It must be said that Moscow also tried to play along with the Turkish leadership for a certain time, not leaving the "grain deal", despite the fact that it was obvious: it was not working.

TURKISH DOCTRINES AND RUSSIA
If we pay attention to Turkish foreign policy doctrines, it becomes obvious that the post-Soviet space occupies a far from priority place in them.

And the Organization of Turkic States, which is often considered almost as the first step towards the creation of a “Turkic NATO” and the “Army of Turan” against Russia, is merely a manifestation of what is called “rhythmic diplomacy,” that is, Turkey’s participation in any organization that is possible in the Eurasian space.

Probably, the point of intersection of interests of Russia and Turkey is primarily the Black Sea, since it is here that Ankara intends to increase its efforts within the framework of the implementation of the “Blue Homeland” concept.

In this regard, it cannot be ruled out that Ankara will block the Black Sea straits for Russian Navy ships for a long time, using the current situation to its advantage. That is, Turkey will seek to secure the status of the only "open sea" force in the Black Sea basin, whose fleet will have no competitors there.

Turkey may also likely seek to secure for itself the status of guarantor of Ukraine's maritime security after possible peace agreements that would end the fighting and oblige Kyiv to reduce its armed forces.

This will suit Ankara, which will undertake to ensure the security of the Ukrainian coast itself, without being interested in the restoration of the Ukrainian Navy. And if they are restored in one form or another, it will be at Turkey's expense: whether or not to transfer the Ukrainian corvettes built at Turkish shipyards to the customer will be decided by Ankara.

On the other hand, following this logic, Turkey is still not interested in any appearance of NATO ships in the Black Sea, including under the pretext of supporting Ukraine. Therefore, the closure of the straits will also affect the fleets of NATO countries, as is currently the case. Ankara will keep them locked up as long as possible.

Thus, Turkey intends to ensure its dominance both in the Black Sea and in the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Turkish naval construction programs must reflect the task of the superiority of the Turkish Navy over the Russian Black Sea Fleet, over the Greek Navy in the Aegean Sea, as well as over the fleets of Egypt and Israel.

And all this is being done by Ankara for the sake of its own national interests and so that Turkey becomes an increasingly significant player in international affairs.

Government Corruption
Massachusetts GOP demands information on state's $1 billion in 'secret' migrant spending: 'Veil of secrecy'
[FoxNews] Republicans allege state's Democrat supermajority has led to lack of transparency

Massachusetts Republicans have submitted a formal request with the state's government for information on the alleged "$1 billion in secret migrant crisis spending" as the Bay State grapples with the migrant crisis.

In a release from the state's Republican Party, MassGOP, the group demanded that Gov. Maura Healey's administration provides a detailed cost breakdown of the toll that the migrant crisis has caused for the state's residents.

"The Healey-Driscoll Administration has shrouded nearly $1 billion spent in secrecy, leaving Massachusetts residents in the dark," MassGOP chair Amy Carnevale said in a statement. "They have withheld critical information on 600 incidents involving police, fire and EMT. Blocking journalists at every turn, the administration has obstructed the flow of information to the public."

In a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, Carnevale demanded the specifics of the state's funding to provide housing for migrants.

In the FOIA request, Carnevale called for the Healey administration to provide the names of government and private entities that are providing emergency housing for migrants, where the emergency housing is located, any correspondents relating to public safety concerns, and any incident reports or police reports.

Chronicle of the battle:

Early in the morning, Russian airborne reconnaissance detected Ukrainian Armed Forces landing craft with personnel moving at high speed in the direction of the Kinburn Spit from the direction of Ochakov;

As the boats approached the shore, the enemy opened massive artillery fire along the coast, trying to suppress the firing points of Russian units in order to successfully land the naval assault force;

Anti-tank crews defending the coast of the Dnieper estuary on the Kinburn Spit, having allowed the enemy to approach the range of destruction with anti-tank weapons, the crews launched guided missiles from the Kornet ATGM, destroying a landing craft with enemy personnel;

Later, the enemy managed to clear a small section of the coast by blowing up a guided combat boat, after which it attempted to land on the coast. The first group of Ukrainian Armed Forces that landed was destroyed by the launch of a Fagot ATGM, after which, in a small-arms battle, anti-tank paratroopers of the Airborne Forces artillery unit destroyed the personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces sabotage and reconnaissance group, among whom, as was later established, were foreign mercenaries from Poland.

08:09 The Russian Armed Forces repelled attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through into the settlement of Malaya Loknya in the Kursk region, taking up defensive positions in penal colony No. 11, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.

The department noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost about 10 units of armored vehicles and about 100 soldiers while attempting to break through to the settlement of Malaya Loknya in the Kursk region.

08:00 Crews of strike UAVs of the "Southern" group of troops near Chasovy Yar destroyed howitzer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, disrupting the rotation.

Germany Mass Stabbing Suspect Pledged to ISIS, Groundswell to Mandate Enforcing Deportation Orders
[Breitbart] The Syrian asylum seeker suspected of killing three and injuring several others at a "festival of diversity" in Germany on Friday reportedly had a deportation order last year, but authorities failed to remove him from the country.

According to information obtained by German paper of record Die Welt, 26-year-old Issa Al H., the Syrian asylum seeker who surrendered himself to police on Saturday after the mass stabbing in Solingen, was supposed to be deported in 2023.

The attack has led to increased pressure on the leftist government coalition of Chancellor Olaf Scholz to crack down on mass migration and ramp up deportations.

The leader of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, Friedrich Merz, called for the government to begin deportations to Syria and Afghanistan, which have been halted over safety concerns, and to stop accepting asylum seekers from the countries.

"It’s enough," Merz wrote, saying: "After the terrorist act in Solingen, it should now be finally clear: it is not the knives that are the problem, but the people who run around with it... In the majority of cases, these are refugees, in the majority of the deeds, there were Islamist motives behind them."

The CDU leader also called on the government to immediately revoke residence status for any alleged asylum seeker who travels back to their home country after it was revealed that many so-called refugees from Afghanistan had vacationed in their homeland despite supposedly needing asylum from the country.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
while the centre-right party has been out of power since the end of 2021, some have still cast blame on the party given its role, under former leader Angela Merkel
...chancellor of Germany and the impetus behind Germany's remarkably ill-starred immigration program. Merkel used to be referred to by Germans as Mom. Now they make faces at her for inundating the country with Moslem colonists...
, for "opening the gates" to mass migration from the Middle East and Africa in 2015 and sparking the Europa
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
Migrant Crisis.

The suspected terrorist had a removal date scheduled to have him sent to Bulgaria, the country where he first entered the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
, and therefore, under the Dublin regulations, the country where he should have had his asylum claims processed.

However,
a lie repeated often enough remains a lie...
following his deportation order, Issa Al H. disappeared from his residence in the Western German city of Paderborn. He re-appeared several months later, but rather than removing him, he was reportedly granted "subsidiary protection" for people from countries with civil wars and transferred to a refugee centre in Solingen, where Friday’s attack took place.

While the suspect was apparently not on the radar of police for holy warrior leanings, the so-called Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) grabbed credit for the attack in Solingen, claiming that it was intended as an act of Dire Revenge against "Christians" for "Moslems in Paleostine and around elsewhere."

The alleged knifeman is also reported to have shouted out the jihadist war cry "Allahu Akbar" during Friday’s attack on the diversity festival, which saw three people killed and eight others injured, including four with life-threatening wounds. The suspected terrorist is said to have specifically targeted the necks of his victims.
A judge at the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe ordered 26-year-old Issa Al H. held pending further investigation and a possible indictment after federal prosecutors said that he shared the radical ideology of the Islamic State extremist group — and was acting on those beliefs when he stabbed his victims repeatedly from behind in the head and upper body.

The suspect, wearing handcuffs and leg shackles, was taken Sunday from the police station in Solingen for the initial court appearance.

He “shares the ideology of the foreign terrorist organization Islamic State” and on the basis of his “radical Islamic convictions” decided “to kill the largest possible number of those he considers unbelievers” at the festival, the Office of the Federal Prosecutor said in a statement.
Authorities have documented seven attacks and 21 attempted or planned attacks in Western Europe since October 7, 2023. Thomas Mücke told DW. He works for the Violence Prevention Network (VPN), an organization dedicated to preventing extremism and deradicalizing violent criminals. Mücke thinks the rise is not surprising: "IS identified Western Europe as a target for attacks, obviously with the intention of spreading horror and fear and dividing society so that they can recruit even more people for their cause."

Mücke says that the perpetrators have become younger, with two-thirds of those arrested in Western Europe being teenagers. And the methods that are being used to appeal to them are also tailored to their age. "The internet plays a major role in radicalization and mobilization, as well as in recruitment."
The case of the suspect in the Solingen attack, 26-year-old Syrian Issa Al H.*, who had pledged allegiance to the "Islamic State" (IS) terror group, has highlighted how despite four major reforms in deportation law since 2015, many rejected asylum seekers are still able to fall through the cracks.

In January, the German government agreed to a raft of new measures first proposed by Interior Minister Nancy Faeser in 2023. This included extended detention periods for those slated for deportation, extended search and seizure rights for police who suspect a pending deportee to be hiding in a shared accommodation or not in possession of identification, and not informing rejected asylum seekers of their deportation date in an effort to hinder absconding. (There is an exception to the latter for minors or families with children.)

The Deportation Improvement Act also included a new rule stating that membership of a criminal organization, even if you haven't been convicted of a crime, is grounds for deportation.

The provisions of the new law regarding detention and deportation dates came into effect in February of this year, and the search and seizure provisions at the beginning of August.

In light of the changes, the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung reported in May that the official number of deportations in the first quarter of the year had risen dramatically. Some 3,566 people were deported in the first three months of 2023. In 2024, that number had climbed to 4,791, an increase of 34%.

Despite that, according to government records seen by the paper, some 7,048 planned deportations did not take place. In some cases, this is because pilots can refuse to fly deportation flights on technical grounds or because those scheduled for deportation may have serious health issues. However, in the vast majority of cases it is either because the rejected asylum seeker has disappeared or because their country of origin has not agreed to receive them.

PROTECTION OF SYRIAN NATIONALS
If people do not qualify as a refugees under the Geneva Refugee Convention, in Germany they are allowed to apply for something called "subsidiary protection" if they would be in serious danger if returned to their homeland.

Syria was removed from Germany's list of countries to which no one can deported in 2020. And in July, a court ruling on the deportation of a convicted human smuggler said that some parts of Syria are safe to return to. However, most Syrian refugees in Germany are still being granted subsidiary protection or allowed to remain under other circumstances.

Rejected asylum seekers are usually held in detention pending their deportation only if they are deemed a risk to public safety or if it is strongly suspected that they will try to flee. According to German media reports, Issa Al H. had not been flagged as either dangerous or a flight risk.

Further complicating matters in the case of the Solingen suspect were the sometimes complex and overlapping EU asylum laws. Before coming to the German city of Bielefeld and applying for asylum in 2022, Al H. had first arrived in the European Union via Bulgaria. Therefore, he should have been sent back to Bulgaria to have his asylum application processed.

However, if a person is in a second country for more than six months, the responsibility then transfers to their new location.

That deadline is extended to 18 months in the cases of people who cannot be found, during which time the authorities in their last known location are expected to carry out a search. It is not yet clear how extensive a manhunt was carried out for Al H. after it was determined that he had vanished. In any case, when authorities arrived at his accommodation in the city of Paderborn in June 2023 to send him to Bulgaria, he was nowhere to be found.

Some months later he reemerged in Germany, when he was put in the refugee home in Solingen. Due to the time elapsed, he was able to apply for asylum in Germany and was granted subsidiary protection.

LEGAL LIMBO
As of December 2023, there were 242,600 people in Germany slated for deportation. Sixty percent of them are rejected asylum seekers.

Further complicating deportation procedures in Germany is something known as the Duldung, or "tolerance" visa. People who have a Duldung live in a legal limbo where they are not immediately facing deportation because of, for example, a medical issue or because they are attending school in Germany.

People with a Duldung are usually not allowed to work and are restricted as to where they can travel. Local authorities are given the right to issue these visas on an individual basis according to need and how overwhelmed the responsible offices are. This can result in some people staying in Germany without a real residency permit for years.

As of October 2022, people who have been in Germany for five years with a Duldung and have not broken the law are now allowed to apply for an "opportunity visa" and are given 18 months to find a way of sustaining themselves. According to the authorities, pending applications for these visas are also part of the reason why some deportation orders are not carried out.

#1  After Brutal Solingen Stabbings, Thousands March Against? The 'Far-Right'

#2  Marching against the "far right" isn't totally insane.

The AfD has been Corbynized and is now generally pro Iran, anti Rushdie, pro Qatar, pro Erdogan, and thus also pro MB, Hamas, Hezbollah and islamization of the West.

Of course all of the above is also true for the non-"far right" parties the marchers support so the marches are indeed somewhat insane.

-Great Cultural Revolution
Harley-Davidson failed at 'Business 101' as 'elitist jerks' rule boardrooms, says former Levi's exec
[FoxNews] Jen Sey clashed with 'aggressively conformist' San Francisco elites during COVID

"Elitist jerks and hypocrites" at Harley-Davidson, and other brands such as Bud Light, are responsible for the woke-inflicted meltdown marquee American companies have suffered in recent years, an entrepreneur in the trenches of the corporate culture wars tells Fox New Digital.

"It's Business 101. You don’t disrespect your core consumers and you certainly don’t alienate and abandon them in the search to grow and expand elsewhere," said Jennifer Sey, a former senior marketing executive for Levi Strauss & Co.

Sey, the former Levi’s executive, witnessed the corporate culture wars from the trenches of the boardroom battlefield. She was a C-suite celebrity in 2020, charged with managing, polishing and growing the iconic Levi’s brand. Founded by German immigrant Levi Strauss in San Francisco in 1853, Levi's jeans have enjoyed global prestige as a symbol of American culture and opportunity.

But then the "lifelong Democrat" was shaken out of her corporate comfort when she opposed the city’s, the state of California’s, and her own employer’s onerous responses to COVID-19.

"I was a leader in the community and I was just vilified for speaking out against school closings," Sey said. "I was demonized because I cared about keeping schools open. I mean, it became an unlivable place for me."

Sey was forced out after a 23-year career at Levi's in 2022.

"San Francisco is the most aggressively conformist place you can fathom," she said. "It is not inclusive. It is not logical. And it is not progressive."

"Canceled," she claims, by corporate America, she was unable to land an executive-level position that reflected her sterling credentials.

Sey relocated to Colorado and launched XX-XY Athletics, a performance apparel company, in March. She's now a warrior against wokeism. The name of her company is itself an act of defiance against the notion that womanhood exists on a spectrum of sorts.

"The message is that there is empirical truth. Biology is true," Sey said. "It’s very simple, actually. There is XX and there is XY. We can corrupt the truth with language all we want. But at the end of the day the truth is that sex is binary."

The corruption of long-held truths and the embrace of radical ideology that drove her out of Levi's, and has driven customers away from Harley-Davidson, Bud Light, and other revered American brands, is the product of many factors, she believes.

"The elites adopt all these crazy far-left positions to assuage their guilt about having tons of money and privilege," she said.

"The other thing is that these companies are now populated by Gen Z employees from a woke education system and from woke universities who were raised in safe spaces and want you to know their pronouns," she added.

Executives fear running afoul of the surrounding mob, inciting their social-media outrage, and jeopardizing the wealth, privilege and perks they pretend to reject.

Five Years Later, the Business Roundtable's Push Toward Wokeness Starts to Crumble

[Breitbart] This August marks the fifth anniversary of the Business Roundtable’s redefinition of the purpose of a corporation to serve “stakeholders” (think Black Lives Matter, the LBGTQ+ agenda, and more) shifting American businesses leftward, and diluting the lifeblood of successful enterprises — making products that people want to buy, ensuring those products are of high quality, earning a profit, and delivering robust shareholder return.

Daniel Cameron, the CEO of the 1792 Exchange and former Kentucky attorney general, said the 1792 Exchange serves to push companies back toward political neutrality, or “common sense,” in Cameron’s words. The 1792 Exchange CEO lauded the growing number of corporations that have increasingly abandoned leftist environmental, social and governance (ESG) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

Cameron told Breitbart News Daily host Mike Slater, “We’ve seen Tractor Supply, I want to give a shout out to their CEO, Hal Lawton, we’ve seen John Deere, we’ve seen Harley Davidson, we’ve seen Brown Forman (Jack Daniels), others making a decision, and we see many in the tech space again leading the charge back to the middle on issues like ESG and DEI. They’re getting rid of those DEI policies because they know at the end of the day corporations don’t need to be built on diversity, equity, and inclusion, our corporations need to be built on merit, excellence, and intelligence.”

Cameron also noted that five years ago, the Business Roundtable, which he said serves as an organization of the CEOs of the largest corporations, decided to redefine the purpose of a corporation away from its profit-motive and toward serving leftist stakeholders such as Black Lives Matter.

He said this leftward move has caused many of these corporations to back “Black Lives Matter, you got Dylan Mulvaney … you get Disney making judgments and decisions to fight a common-sense law in Florida.” He noted that major CEOs and corporations have given $82 billion to Black Lives Matter.

The 1792 Exchange CEO also noted that Larry Fink, the CEO of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset management company, wanted to destroy the fossil fuel industry within the next couple of decades.

“This is all because of, and stems from, the fact that the Business Roundtable wanted to change and redefine the purpose of a corporation,” Cameron remarked.

More companies now turning away from DEI:
Lowe's changes some DEI policies amid legal attacks on diversity programs and activist pressure
Home Depot partnered with HRC on elementary school gender curriculum that taught kids about pansexuals

#1  The greatest failing of the "social elites" is that they view the individuals of the masses as interchangable, the same, you can just sub one for the other. They're not.

Residents of America's cancer-cursed state [Iowa] demand answers as rates of disease mysteriously soar
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Across Iowa, people have known for a long time what data is only now beginning to confirm — cancer incidence in the state is outstandingly high.

Iowa became the focus of national attention earlier this year when data showed it had the fastest growing rate of new cancers of any state in America.

That's more than the Rust Belt states, where lifelong factory work, smoking rates and lack of healthcare puts locals at a higher risk for developing the disease. And more than southern states where rates of obesity, alcohol use and poverty make them more prone to the disease.

A complex web of factors is thought to be at play - Iowa is a farming powerhouse and uses more potentially carcinogenic pesticides than anywhere else. It's also sitting on a hotbed of radioactive gas, called radon, which can leech into homes undetected and cause lung cancer.

Residents are unwilling to accept being sickened by their home and are demanding state leaders do something about the crisis.

So, its been relatively 'level' for a long time and now has the fastest increase. That would imply that what ever was around 20, 30 years ago may not be the particular culprit for the acceleration.

Iraqi resistance launches drone attack on vital target in Haifa
What, again? I auppose it’s just as well they announce it — otherwise no one would notice.
[IRNA] According to al-Ahd news site, the Islamic resistance of Iraq announced that it attacked a vital target in Haifa.

In the statement of the Islamic Resistance® of Iraq, it is stated: In continuation of our approach to resist the occupying regime and support the people of Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, as well as in response to the crimes committed by the usurping regime against Paleostinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance® targeted a vital target with a drone in the occupied territories.
Targetting and hitting are two different things, guys. It really doesn't count if it will only hit with Allah’s help.

Australia approves plans for 'largest' solar farm in the world
[France24] Australia approved on Wednesday plans for a massive solar and battery farm that would export energy to Singapore, a project billed as the "largest solar precinct in the world".

Authorities announced environmental approvals for SunCable's US$24 billion project in Australia's remote north that is slated to power three million homes.

The project, which will include an array of panels, batteries and, eventually, a cable linking Australia with Singapore, is backed by tech billionaire and green activist Mike Cannon-Brookes.

"It will be the largest solar precinct in the world -- and heralds Australia as the world leader in green energy," said Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek.

It is hoped that energy production will begin in 2030, providing four gigawatts of energy for domestic use.

Two more gigawatts would be sent to Singapore via undersea cable, supplying about 15 percent of the city-state's needs.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
NYC crime statistics fall but actual crimes are up again, city to spend more on law enforcement
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Security cam video shows woman being strangled in Brooklyn apartment after man followed her in.

A horrifying video shows a Brooklyn woman strangled in her own apartment building by a man who followed her, as New York City attempts to boost police budgets to deal with crime. The 25-year-old woman was walking into her building in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, near Prospect Park, at around 11.00pm on Thursday when the man snuck up behind her and wrapped his arm around her neck.

Police - who posted a clip of the man as he approached the woman - said the victim cried for help and begged the man to stop and even tried to kick him and fight back, as he told her to 'shut up' before releasing her. The man - described only as having a dark complexion by the authorities - then ran away but it was unclear in which direction he went.

The victim - who has not been identified - was unharmed and refused medical attention at the scene but her assailant remains at large, as police ask for any information that could lead to his arrest.

One neighbor told ABC7 the building has become unsafe of late and he's purchased a door camera.

Despite Adams' claims that crime was trending in the right direction late last year, the NYPD revealed that crime went up in virtually every category in 2023. The statistics paint a bleak picture of the city's efforts to address crime that's rocketed since the pandemic - a campaign that has been touted as successful several times over the past year by Mayor Eric Adams. However, statistics show the politician - who ran on promises of addressing violence on the city's streets and is now entering his second year as mayor - was mistaken.

The data, released by the department in December, came exactly two weeks after Adams assured citizens that officials had taken strides in the unrest, while touting supposed gains in public safety. The data shows that rapes, robberies, and assaults are all up from last year, since hitting highs not seen in decades in both 2020 and 2021.

Rape - which rocketed in 2020 when streets were empty and unemployment rife due to unrest caused by the coronavirus - rose by 7 percent, with more than 120 occurring this year than last.

Robberies, meanwhile, rose a shocking 20 percent, despite recent measures taken by Adams, 62, to increase police presence throughout the city.

Assaults and theft throughout the city, meanwhile, show a similarly pronounced rise, with felony assaults up 12 percent - 26,039 incidents this year compared to 22,835 seen last year - and burglaries up an alarming 25 percent.

All other crime categories - including grand larceny and motor vehicle theft - showed similar rises except for murders, despite the outset of the pandemic coming now nearly three years ago.

The statistics directly contradict repeated statements from Adams that New York - which saw incidents of violence and shootings swell to historic highs in 2020 when its streets were hollowed out by lockdowns - was well on the path to recovery, the most recent of which came just last month.

Perhaps because of that, the New York Police Department will see a massive cash boost next year after the City Council adopted a $112 billion budget despite dissent from Democratic socialists. The Big Apple's increase in police spending by roughly $72 million comes under a week after Squad progressive Congressman Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., a defund the police advocate, lost his reelection bid to a moderate. The budget was adopted 46-3 in late June, with three Democratic socialist members voting against the measure partly because of the money for NYPD 'pet projects.'

The boosted law enforcement budget may now indicate New Yorkers' desires to get tough on crime, especially after Bowman's ousting.

Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams celebrated the budget adoption in a statement.

Note on Durov from the channel 'Especially for RT'.
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from a V Kontakte post from Reports from the Novorossiya militia, authored by by Russian political scientist Vladimir Kornilov.

[VK] Notable articles are now coming out in the West about the arrest of Pavel Durov. They are trying to explain to Western readers who he is and what Telegram is. And it is clear how the authors of these opuses are trying to "cross a hedgehog with a snake", explaining why in some parts of the world Durov's brainchild is a "criminal instrument", and in others - a "torch of freedom and justice".

For example, Le Figaro publishes an article in which it reminds the French audience that Telegram is actively used not only by "patriots of Russia" (this, apparently, should seem like a dirty word), but also by the Russian opposition. In particular, the newspaper recalls the role that propaganda Telegram channels played in the attempt to overthrow the legitimate government in Belarus in 2020. There is obvious regret expressed about the prospect of losing such an instrument of influence in “totalitarian” societies.

Western journalist Natalia Vasilyeva, who worked for a long time as a special correspondent for the Associated Press in Moscow and is now based in Istanbul, has now introduced Durov as almost “the chief of communications of the Russian army.” And just a few years ago, she published such touching reports about the fight “for freedom of the Internet” in Russia, commenting on rallies in defense of the same Durov.

The lamentations of the fugitive Russian liberals are especially funny. University of Chicago lecturer Konstantin Sonin* also tries to present Telegram as almost the main means of communication for the Russian army, but then says that “many oppositionists and opinion leaders are puzzled by Durov’s arrest today: Telegram was their main platform for disseminating their messages.” The dilemma, however, is for our liberals. That is, they would be happy to put a noose on freedom of speech in Russia, but they act according to the principle “Why us?”

The same is said in a column published today in the British newspaper The Times. The author, well-known columnist and radio host Hugo Rifkind, explaining to readers what Telegram is, writes (hold on now): “It’s a social network with almost a billion regular users around the world, and you’re probably not one of them. That’s because you don’t live in a repressive state that regularly restricts more common forms of communication. Also, you are probably not a criminal, a child rapist, or a paranoid political extremist."

And here Rifkind writes about the same dilemma: in countries "with pernicious regimes," Telegram is a great tool for delivering the "right" (from the West's point of view, of course) messages. But is it worth putting up with the fact that in the West it is used for the "wrong" actions?

What do all these publications and the emotional turmoil of Western propagandists mean? In essence, they are directly calling for Durov to be slapped on the wrist by completely banning Telegram in the territory of "democracies." Why, really, if there are enough more elite-controlled means of communication there? But in "totalitarian" states, it is necessary to continue "sowing democracy," of course, having strictly cleansed the information space of "wrong opinions."

In other words, the authors of the publications are essentially proposing to turn the platform into something like the Voice of America** of the Cold War era, when this propaganda structure carried the "only correct opinion" behind the Iron Curtain, to the countries of the Soviet bloc, but had no right to broadcast in America itself - this opinion was considered harmful there. It looks like this is the scenario that will be offered to Durov.

PM rules out soft approach or talks with terrorists amid rise in deadly attacks
[GEOTV] In response to a series of terror attacks in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
over the past few days, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that no dialogue could be held with the enemy, nor could a 'soft approach' be taken in dealing with them.

Addressing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad today, the prime minister said it was time to uproot terrorism and the government would provide all the available resources to the armed forces for this purpose.

''Doors of negotiations are open [only] for those who recognise the constitution and flag of Pakistain, but there is no room for terrorists,'' he maintained.

The premier said the nefarious intentions of the murderous Moslems would fail and they would be crushed. The murderous Moslems would completely be eradicated, come what may, the PM reemphasised.

Canada to impose 100% tariff on China electric vehicle imports
[BBC] Canada says it will impose a 100% tariff on imports of China-made electric vehicles (EV) after similar announcements by the US and European Union.

The country also plans to impose a 25% duty on Chinese steel and aluminium.

Canada and its Western allies accuse China of subsidising its EV industry, giving its car makers an unfair advantage.

China has called the move "trade protectionism" which "violates World Trade Organization rules".

"We are transforming Canada's automotive sector to be a global leader in building the vehicles of tomorrow, but actors like China have chosen to give themselves an unfair advantage in the global marketplace", said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Canada's duties on Chinese EVs are due to come into effect on 1 October, while those on steel and aluminium will be implemented from 15 October.

A Chinese Commerce Ministry spokesperson said Canada's actions "seriously undermine the global economic system, and economic and trade rules".

"China urges the Canadian side to immediately correct its erroneous practices," they added.

China is Canada's second-largest trading partner, behind the US.

Indian police fire teargas at hundreds protesting Kolkata doctor''s rape, murder
[GEOTV] Police in India fired teargas and water cannon to disperse hundreds of protesters marching in the eastern city of Kolkata on Tuesday to demand the resignation of a top state minister in the wake of a gruesome rape and murder of a female trainee doctor.

Protesters led by university students broke through the iron barricades set up on the route of their march to the West Bengal state secretariat, television footage showed, resulting in a baton charge by the police, who had earlier declared the protest illegal.

The August 9 attack on the 31-year-old doctor has caused nationwide outrage, similar to the widespread protests witnessed after a 2012 gang-rape of a 23-year-old student on a moving bus in New Delhi, with campaigners saying women continue to suffer from high levels of sexual violence despite tougher laws.

A police volunteer has been arrested for the crime and the federal police have taken over the investigation.

Junior doctors have refused to see non-emergency patients in many parts of the country since the incident at Kolkata's state-run RG Kar Medical College, as they launched protests demanding justice for the victim and greater safety for women at hospitals.

India's Supreme Court has created a hospital safety task force and has requested protesting doctors return to work, but some have refused to budge, including in West Bengal, of which Kolkata is the capital.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Feud Between Migrant Families Ends in Gunfire, Three Dead in Indiana
[Breitbart] A feud between two families from Honduras erupted in gunfire, resulting in three dead in a parking lot in Lawrence, Indiana, on August 19.

The three men who died, Juan Escobar, Candido Antunez, and Daniel Morales, met on a Sunday evening to renew an argument over land that had been roiling the Escobar and Antunez families before they even came to the United States from their home country of Honduras.

As several members of each family met in the eastern Indiana suburb, one of the victims attempted to be a peacemaker. Morales, 31, reportedly stepped between Escobar and Antunez to defuse the situation, according to WISH-TV. However, when the lead allegedly started flying, Morales, Antunez’s brother-in-law, fell right alongside the feuding family members who died that day.

Since he was allegedly caught in the crossfire, police have not determined who shot Morales.

Police added that Escobar and Antunez both pulled out their firearms, fired shots, and fell wounded at nearly the same instant.

Escobar had repeatedly warned police that he feared for his life and reportedly filed three police reports against Antunez.

Police arrested family members Santos Alfaro-Escobar and Justo Antunez-Escobar, who both allegedly fled the scene of the shooting.

There may have also been a love triangle element to the shooting. Members of the Antunez family said that Miguel Antunez, who was at the shootout, was having an affair with Juan Escobar’s former girlfriend and mother of his child.

Federal immigration authorities have placed the two arrested men on an immigration hold to prevent them from being released from prison and disappearing.

According to WTHR-TV, surveillance video taken that night reveals nearly a dozen shots being fired between the two families.

Nationwide AT&T outage sparks 911 fears as dispatch report centers report widespread failures
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A nationwide AT&T outage has prompted users across the United States to dial 911, as dispatch centers are reporting widespread failures.

The outage seemed to have begun Tuesday afternoon, with a spike in reports at around 6pm and 9pm, according to Down Detector - a website that monitors outages.

The states that seem to be the most affected so far are California, Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, and Georgia - though more are starting to report problems, Nick Sotor said.

AT&T blamed the issue on a critical failure at one of its switching center, which has resulted in a cascade of problems - including service delays and a complete loss of network connectivity, according to The Mobile Report.

The issue is primarily affecting iPhone users, and has even affected emergency services, with officials in Seminole County, Florida urging those with an issue to contact its non-emergency line.

When customers were fortunate enough to get through to AT&T support, the company acknowledged there is an outage but offered little reassurance.

There is currently no work around and the company has not provided an estimated time that the issue may be resolved.

Making matters worse, most of the company's senior technical support staff have gone home from their shifts for the day - leaving the issue unresolved, according to The Mobile Report.

Still, AT&T officials say they are working to fix the issue - which they insist is only affecting a 'limited number of our customers.

'We are working to address a software issue that may affect the ability of a limited number of our customers to connect to our wireless network,' a spokesperson told DailyMail.com.

'Keeping our customers connected is our highest priority, so we appreciate their patience as we work to resolve this issue.'

By around 11.20pm EST a spokesperson for the company contacted DailyMail.com with an update about the situation.

'We’ve resolved a software issue that disrupted the ability of a limited number of our customers to connect to our wireless network,' a spokesperson said.

'We apologize for the inconvenience and we appreciate our customers’ patience as we worked to resolve this issue.'

The outage came the same day the FCC announced that AT&T would pay a $950,000 fine for failing to notify call centers about a similar outage in 2023 that affected police stations in Illinois, Kansas, Texas and Wisconsin.

Pentagon says it can ‘walk and chew gum at same time' when asked about absence of carrier in the Pacific
[FoxNews] The USS Ronald Reagan left its home port of Japan after nine years in May and will be replaced by the USS George Washington later this year.

The Pentagon claimed it can "walk and chew gum at the same time" when asked how long the U.S. will go without an aircraft carrier group in the Indo-Pacific region.
Walking while chewing gum is easy compared to driving a ship surrounded by other ships. Or so I’ve heard.
Pentagon Press Secretary Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder was asked by Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin Tuesday how long he expected there would not be an aircraft carrier strike group in the Indo-Pacific. She also asked if not having a carrier in the region was risky.

"Well, look, you know, as we look at global force management and as we look at requirements around the world in support of our national security interests, we're always taking great care to make sure that we can cover those commitments to include, in our priority theater, which is the Indo-Pacific region," Ryder said. "And, so, we have a significant amount of capability there to include a large naval presence."

Two carrier strike groups — the USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Abraham Lincoln — are in the Middle East as part of America’s commitment "to support Israel’s defense against threats from Iran and its regional partners and proxies," according to the Pentagon.

Both carriers are in the Gulf of Oman.

Ryder told reporters the two carrier groups would remain in the region to provide additional capability and capacity to protect U.S. forces, support Israel’s defense and be ready for a variety of contingencies.

In May, the USS Ronald Reagan departed from its Japanese home port, wrapping up nearly nine years of deployment in the Indo-Pacific, where it played a key role in the U.S. effort to bolster defense ties with Japan and regional partners.

Ukrainian military to form new combat brigades
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the V Kontakte page of Reports from the Novorossiya militia

[VK] Note from the channel "Veteran's Notes"

"Ukraine has begun forming new brigades for the offensive in 2025, and the Western paramilitary community is talking about this quite openly.

The so-called "160th" brigades have begun forming as part of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.series. They will recruit Ukrainian citizens living in Europe on a voluntary (and voluntary-compulsory) basis. For example, after the announcement of the creation of the "Ukrainian Legion" in Poland, information appeared that this legion will not act as an independent unit, but as a training hub, after which they will be distributed into new brigades.

Training centers for the creation of the "160th brigades" will be deployed in Eastern and, probably, Western Europe. These same European countries will provide the brigades with weapons and ammunition at the place of formation (while the burden associated with the training of such units is removed from the USA and Great Britain).

It is already known that the formation of the 160th separate mechanized brigade has begun somewhere on the territory of one of the NATO states. At the same time, the so-called "150th brigades", which were formed in 2023-2024 on Ukrainian territory, are already actively participating in hostilities along the entire front, including in the Kursk region. It is assumed that these two series of brigades will become the main component of mechanized formations after the currently existing mechanized brigades are defeated and exhausted in the battles of 2024.”

Local commander among 25 terrorists killed so far in Tirah IBOs since August 20: ISPR
[GEOTV] At least 25 terrorists, including a ring leader, were bumped off by security forces in multiple ongoing intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Tirah valley of Khyber district since August 20, the military's media wing said on Tuesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces are conducting ''extensive IBOs'' in Tirah valley against the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
Pakistain (TTP) labelled as Fitna-Al-Khwarij and bad boy outfits ''Laskar-e-Islam and Jamat-ul-Ahrar''.

These operations, it said, were based on robust intelligence and resulted into major setbacks to Fitna-Al-Khwarij and its affiliates.

During the intelligence-based operations being conducted since August 20, the security forces so far killed 25 terrorists, including a ring leader named Abuzar aka Saddam.

''However,

four soldiers, having fought gallantly, paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom'', the ISPR added.

''The heavy losses inflicted upon Fitna-Al-Khwarij in these operations is testament to the valor and commitment of security forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country,'' it concluded.

Country can't afford elite's luxuries on taxpayers' money: PM
[GEOTV] Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday vowed to save every penny of the poor people till ''last drop of my blood'', saying that the country cannot afford that the bureaucracy and the elite enjoy luxuries at the expenses paid in taxes by poor.

''In view of the larger national interests, all ministries and institutions should take all possible decisions and initiatives that could save each penny of the nation,'' the premier said while chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet.

He said that steps were being taken, on a priority basis, to further improve governance and bring about institutional reforms in the country.

''We are introducing digitisation and smart management of institutions to modernise the country's system and harmonise it in accordance with the international requirements,'' PM Shehbaz said.

He also appreciated the decisions taken by the finance minister, minister for national food security, minister for energy and other relevant ministers and officials for ensuring uninterrupted supply of urea fertilizer for the upcoming Rabi crop.

An amount of $130 million was saved in the national exchequer by halting the import of urea and by ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to urea fertilizer units for the upcoming Rabi crop.

On the recommendations of the Ministry of Housing and Works, proposals were presented in the federal cabinet regarding the dissolution of Pakistain Public Works Department (PWD), transfer of its staff and ongoing projects to other ministries and institutions.

Rocket launched from Leb came from near UNIFIL position
[GEOTV] One of the rockets launched from Lebanon in the heavy exchange between armed group Hezbollah and the Israeli military on Sunday was fired from near a position operated by international peacekeepers, the United Nations force told Reuters on Tuesday.

The UN peacekeeping force for Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, said it had detected a "high number of air strikes and rocket launches in its area of operations" starting on Sunday morning.

"One such launch was detected from near one of our positions in Hanniyeh," UNIFIL spokesperson Kandice Ardiel said, referring to a town in southern Lebanon approximately 10 km (6 miles) north of the border with Israel.
Courtesy of Frank G, the Jerusalem Post adds:
The spokesperson said another explosion occurred later in the day near a UNIFIL position in Mays al-Jabal, along the border, but said there was no damage and no casualties.

"We continually stress to everyone that using areas near our positions to launch attacks across the Blue Line or targeting that puts peacekeepers in danger is unacceptable and a violation of Resolution 1701," the spokesperson said.

Russian instructors in the CAR negotiate the surrender of 3R militants
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[AFRINZ] General of the 3R rebel group
…for reasons that no doubt makes sense to the members, 3R in this case stands for Return, Reclamation, Rehabilitation. It was formed in late 2015 in the Ouham Pende region in Western CAR, claiming to protect the Muslim Puehl (aka Fulani) herders. 3R has a reputation for rape and looting in area village, but the little I found on the internet suggests they’re just Moslem lads enjoying the raiding life rather than the local branch of Boko Haram…
Gorgo Deborozie contacted Russian instructors in Central Africa and said he would like to surrender along with his subordinates under the guarantee of the Russians. This was reported on the Telegram channel of the Commonwealth of Officers for International Security (COIS).

Deborozie is ready to bring with him a large contingent of fighters who are resisting the army in the forests around Bokaranga. The general is the chief of staff of the 3R group and leads about 250 armed men. He lives with his family in Chad.
Chad is much safer than CAR. I’d have my family there, too, were I so stupidly vicious as to be an African jihadi.
"General Deborozie said that he would be very happy to negotiate the disarmament of his group with Russian specialists. He emphasized that he really wants peace and is interested in the 3R fighters being able to successfully integrate into peaceful life in the CAR," the CMAB post reads.

Earlier, the CAR national army, together with Russian instructors, captured two camps of the CPC rebel group.

Canada to Reduce Number of 'Temporary Foreign Workers'
[Breitbart] Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada would be “reducing the number” of “temporary foreign workers” in the country.

In a post on X, Trudeau wrote that businesses in Canada should be investing in hiring “Canadian workers and youth.”

Trudeau’s words come as Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre has vowed to make cuts to Trudeau’s migration flood, implying that immigration numbers would be linked to the rate of homes being built and the jobs that are created.

“We’re reducing the number of low-wage, temporary foreign workers in Canada,” Trudeau wrote. “The labour market has changed. Now is the time for our businesses to invest in Canadian workers and youth.”

During a press conference on Monday, Trudeau explained that Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker program would be receiving an overhaul, according to BBC News.

Trudeau explained that not only is it “not fair to Canadians” who are having difficulties finding employment, but to some foreign workers who are being “mistreated and exploited.”

This comes as Canada saw the unemployment rate rise 0.2 percent to 6.4 in June, according to Statistics Canada.

Trudeau has previously acknowledged that young Canadians would be denied housing wealth due to the country’s housing market being impacted by an influx of foreign workers.

In April, Trudeau revealed that he had plans to reduce the number of migrant workers coming into the country and noted that “more and more businesses” in Canada were “relying on temporary foreign workers in a way that is driving down wages in some sectors.”

Canada was reported to have reached a population mark of 40 million in June 2023, and in March 2024, it was reported to have reached the 41 million mark.

Statistics Canada attributed the increase in Canada’s population to “international migration” during the first quarter of 2024.

The United States has similarly been grappling with low wages and increased housing prices due to an increasing number of illegal migrants. Under the Biden administration, roughly ten million migrants have been encountered at the U.S. southern border.

Australia introduces cap on international students
[BBC] Australia will introduce a cap on the number of new international students it accepts, as it tries to reduce overall migration to pre-pandemic levels.

The nation has one of the biggest international student markets in the world, but the number of new enrolments will be limited to 270,000 for 2025.

Each higher education institution will be given an individual restriction, the government announced on Tuesday, with the biggest cuts to be borne by vocational education and training providers.

The change has angered the tertiary education industry, with some universities calling it "economic vandalism", but Canberra says it will improve the quality and longevity of the sector.

Australia is host to about 717,500 international students, according to the latest government figures from early 2024.

Education Minister Jason Clare acknowledged that higher education was hard-hit during the pandemic, when Australia sent foreign students home and introduced strict border controls. He also noted, however, that the number of international students at universities is now 10% higher than before Covid-19, while the number at private vocational and training providers is up 50%.

"Students are back but so are the shonks - people are seeking to exploit this industry to make a quick buck," Mr Clare said.

The government has previously accused some providers of "unethical" behaviour - including accepting students who don't have the language skills to succeed, offering a poor standard of education or training, and enrolling people who intend to work instead of study.

The restrictions will also help address Australia's record migration levels, he said, which have added pressure to existing housing and infrastructure woes.

The government has already announced tougher minimum English-language requirements for international students and more scrutiny of those applying for a second study visa, while punishing hundreds of "dodgy" providers.

Enrolments at public universities will be pared back to 145,000 in 2025, which is around their 2023 levels, Mr Clare said.

Private universities and non-university higher education providers will be able to enrol 30,000 new international students, while vocational education and training institutions will be limited to 95,000

But higher education providers say the industry is being made a "fall guy" for housing and migration issues, and that a cap would decimate the sector.

International education was worth A$36.4bn (£18.7bn, $24.7) to the Australian economy in 2022-23, making it the country's fourth largest export that year.

According to economic modelling commissioned earlier this year by Sydney University – where foreign students make up about half of enrolments – the proposed cuts could cost the Australian economy $4.1bn and result in about 22,000 job losses in 2025.

Former Russian defense minister Shoigu notes an increase in the number of extremist crimes in the North Caucasus
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The situation in the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District remains difficult, the region continues to see a trend of increasing extremist and terrorist crimes, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Sergei Shoigu said on August 27.

"The socio-political and operational situation in the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District remains difficult. The district has recorded a steady trend of growth in the number of crimes of an extremist and terrorist nature," the Secretary of the Security Council said at a visiting meeting in the North Caucasus Federal District.

Shoigu recalled that in 2024 alone, terrorist attacks were committed in Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan, in which 21 people were killed. 18 of the dead were law enforcement officers.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 23, a group of armed men attacked two Orthodox churches and a traffic police post in Makhachkala and Derbent. The militants killed the rector of the church, 66-year-old Nikolai Kotelnikov, a security guard, and the head of the Dagestanskie Ogni police department, Lieutenant Colonel Mavludin Khidirnabiyev.

On June 24, the Investigative Committee reported that 19 people, including 15 law enforcement officers, were killed as a result of the terrorist attacks in Dagestan.

On April 18, the FSB reported the detention of three men in Karachay-Cherkessia on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack on one of the government facilities. During the search, components for making a homemade explosive device and a building plan were seized from the detainees.

Shoigu on the danger of attempts to displace secular laws with Sharia norms

[Regnum] Attempts to displace secular laws and traditional Islam with radical ideology are of particular concern, said Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu on August 27.

“Of particular concern are attempts to introduce into the public consciousness the possibility of using Sharia norms instead of secular laws, the displacement of traditional Islam by its radical movements, and the formation of new Salafi groups,” he said during a visiting conference in the North Caucasus Federal District.

According to him, contradictions persist within the religious communities of the North Caucasus, caused by the destructive influence of foreign radical preachers, and sometimes by the personal ambitions of individual leaders of official religious organizations.

Shoigu noted that in order to effectively counter negative trends, comprehensive preventive measures are needed that will ensure the timely identification and neutralization of threats of extremism and terrorism, as well as preventing the spread of radical ideas and preventing conflict situations in the sphere of interethnic and interfaith relations.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 27, the Secretary of the Security Council also stated that the situation in the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District remains difficult, and the region continues to see a trend of increasing extremist and terrorist crimes. He recalled that in 2024 alone, terrorist attacks were committed in Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan, in which 21 people died.

Kalashnikov Concern to Show New GP-46 Grenade Launcher Abroad for the First Time
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Kalashnikov showed a new underbarrel grenade launcher GP-46. The video was published on August 27 in the concern's official Telegram channel.
The GP-25 40mm underbarrel grenade launcher was a major problem for Russian spec ops who use suppressors. The distance between the upper side of the grenade and the bottom of the suppressor was barely one millimeter (0.040"). Kalashnikov put the launcher on a sort of a riser to cure the problem. (See the video below)
The company noted that the world premiere of the new weapon will take place at the fifth International Defense Industry Exhibition ADEX 2024, which will be held on September 24–26 in Baku.

“The product is designed to defeat enemy manpower located on the ground, in trenches, ditches and unarmored vehicles,” the publication states.

The GP-46 can be attached to a Kalashnikov assault rifle, as well as to a special folding buttstock, the material says. The weapon allows for overhead or flattened shooting; when firing direct fire, the grenade launcher's range is 400 m. The length of the GP-46 is 380 mm, the caliber is 40mm. The grenade launcher weighs 1.6 kg. The weapon's rate of fire is 5-6 rounds per minute.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on August 10, Kalashnikov presented a new RPL-20 5.45 mm light machine gun for the Russian army, as well as an under-barrel grenade launcher GP-46. The concern's chief designer, Sergei Urzhumtsev, noted that the under-barrel grenade launcher system is suitable for the RPL-20. The machine gun is designed to increase the effectiveness and expand the combat capabilities of ground forces, airborne forces, as well as marines and special forces, Urzhumtsev said.

Earlier, the concern presented a new AK-19 assault rifle for NATO-style cartridges. The new product was created on the basis of the AK-12 assault rifle of 5.45 mm caliber. The new model is adapted for 24-hour use and also has increased accuracy, the report noted.

Five people stabbed on second day of London carnival
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Nothing like a mass stabbing by unwanted guests to get the celebratory spirit right.

[Regnum] Five people were stabbed on the final day of the Afro-Caribbean culture carnival in London's Notting Hill. Scotland Yard police provided details.

It is noted that the condition of two victims is assessed as critical.

The condition of the 32-year-old woman who was stabbed remains serious. She came to the carnival with a small child.

In total, eight people were stabbed during the two days of the carnival. The police also recorded two cases of slash wounds, which are not classified as knife wounds, and one case of acid use.

Over the course of two days, 320 people were detained, many of whom had weapons and drugs. A total of 50 police officers were injured.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, at least 90 people were arrested on the first day of the Caribbean Carnival in London, three people were injured.

The Caribbean Carnival has been held regularly since 1966 on the last Monday of August, with celebrations starting on Sunday. The founder of the carnival is Rowan Laslett. Initially, the main idea of the carnival was to unite the local multi-ethnic community in order to end racial conflicts. However, for many years, Londoners have associated the carnival with crime, alcohol and drug use, mountains of garbage and increased noise levels.

On July 29, a young man attacked students at a dance school in Southport with a knife. As a result, two children died and nine more were hospitalized. A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of the attack.

Inu remanded for seven days
[DHAKATRIBUNE] Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSoD) President and former minister Hasanul Haq Inu has been remanded for seven days in connection with the murder of businessman Abdul Wadud during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the capital's New Market area.

Deputy Inspector Morad Khan of New Market cop shoppe brought Inu to court and requested a 10-day remand for a thorough investigation on Tuesday afternoon.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider granted a seven-day remand.

Inu was arrested by the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police from a house in Uttara on Monday afternoon.

Businessman Abdul Wadud was rubbed out in front of Gate No. 1 of New Market at 5pm on July 19. A murder case was later filed on August 21 against 130 individuals, including former prime minister the loathesome Sheikh Hasina
...Bangla dynastic politician and now exiled former Prime Minister of Bangladesh. That is probably because Khaleda's late husband was the Pak tool who had Mujib assassinated...
and former bridge minister Obaidul Quader.

The case was filed by Abdur Rahman, the nephew of the dear departed businessman, at New Market cop shoppe.
