IDF, Shin Bet canceled arrests of 9 terror suspects due to lack of space in Israeli prisons — report
[IsraelTimes] The IDF and the Shin Bet security agency have canceled nine arrest operations in the West Bank in the past two days due to a lack of capacity in Israeli prisons to process Paleostinian security suspects, Channel 12 reports.

"The failure of Minister [Itamar] Ben Gvir, who is responsible for national security, to deal with the issue of prison space, endangers national security and it won’t be long until it costs human life," the network cites a security source as saying.

The issue has been ongoing since Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
’s October 7 massacre in southern Israel and the ensuing war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, with the Shin Bet repeatedly complaining that it has been forced to send prisoners back to the Strip due to a lack of jail space.

The IDF said earlier today that over the past week, troops killed more than 35 button men in the West Bank and detained some 45 amid an operation in the Jenin, Tulkarem and Far’a areas. The operation aims to dismantle Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. Europe
Day 3: Austrian investigators seize devices at home of man who fired shots near Israel’s Munich consulate yesterday
Summarizing what was learnt the past 2 days (see Day 1 here, Day 2 here): The shooter is a Bosnian-Austrian named Emra I. or Emrah I., born in 2006, age 18. He lived in Neumarkt am Wallersee, Salzburg with his parents, and had been investigated by the police last year for connections to ISIS and radical Islam due to his interest in ISIS, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham/Al Nusra, weapons, and explosives; while the investigation was dropped, he was banned from having a gun until 2028. He had become a loner during the Covid lockdown, prompting his concerned parents to try to find him psychological help. On Wednesday he bought an old Swiss army Karabiner Modell 1931, 50 rounds of ammunition, and a bayonet form a seller in Vienna. He drove over from Salzburg Thursday morning before shooting at a museum of the Nazi era, a university building, and the Israeli consulate, but within a minute after that last was gunned down most effectively by the police.

There is a large and aggressive radical Islam scene in Austria, particularly around Austrian-born ISIS big turban Mohamed Mahmoud, who died in an air raid on an ISIS prison in Syria in 2018, but it connects to the Balkans and Chechnya rather than the Middle East.
[IsraelTimes] Investigators seized electronic devices at the home of a young Austrian who fired shots near Israel’s Munich consulate, but found no weapons or Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group propaganda material, authorities say.

German police rubbed out the 18-year-old man yesterday when he fired a vintage rifle at them near the diplomatic building.

They say they are treating it as a "terrorist attack," apparently timed to coincide with the anniversary of the murders of Israeli athletes in a Paleostinian terror attack at the 1972 Olympic Games.

Authorities raided the gunman’s home in the Salzburg region, seizing electronic data carriers, Austria’s top security chief Franz Ruf tells a presser in Vienna.

During the raid, "no weapons or IS propaganda" material was found, Ruf adds.

Despite being subject to a ban on owning and carrying weapons, the man managed to purchase a vintage carbine rifle fitted with a bayonet with around "fifty rounds of ammunition" for 400 euros ($445) the day before the attack, Ruf says.

At a separate presser in Munich, prosecutor Gabriele Tilmann says Sherlocks are combing through the gunman’s electronic data but have yet to find conclusive evidence of his motive.

But the "working hypothesis" was that "the perpetrator acted out of Islamist or antisemitic motivation," she tells news hounds.
Another Times of Israel article adds:
Investigators last year found three videos he had recorded in 2021, showing scenes from a computer game “with Islamist content,” prosecutors said in a statement.

In one of them the suspect had used an avatar with a flag of the “al-Nusra Front,” a jihadist group active in Syria, said Ruf.
…which could be meaningful or just be the result of a search for “Muslim flag”
But the investigation was dropped in 2023 as there were no indications that he was active in “radical” circles, prosecutors said.

“The mere playing of a computer game or the re-enactment of violent Islamist scenes was not sufficient to prove intent to commit the offense,” they clarified.

Per European Conservative in comments, below: The jihadi’s full name is Emrah Ibrahimovic.

#8  Breitbart:

A shooting that led to the death of the gunman saw the perpetrator roam and fire a rifle for ten minutes, with police initially unsure whether the rifle was a prop or the real thing.

Bullets struck the Israeli consulate general in Munich, Germany this week in a shooting which ended, as reported at the time, with the gunman being shot dead by responding police officers. The consulate was closed on Thursday morning during the shooting because its staff were attending a memorial for the 1972 Munich Olympics Massacre terror attack, where Palestinian terrorists killed 11 Israelis, the timing leading police to suspect the Islamist-sympathising perpetrator may have struck because of that anniversary.

The suspect, 18-year-old Emrah I., is said to have arrived with a Swiss military surplus “repeating rifle” with bayonet — possibly the K31 carbine of 1933 — on Thursday morning and was quickly spotted by police officers. Yet, reports Die Welt, those police were initially unsure whether the out-of-time rifle was real or a prop and lost sight of the Austrian citizen, Bosnian-heritage migrant.

Emrah I. fired first at the National Socialism Documentation Centre (‘NS-Dokumentationszentrum München’), a new museum and educational centre built on the site of the former ‘Brown House’ national headquarters of Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Party, which itself was destroyed in Second World War bombing. According to German media, he shot at the building twice. Footage allegedly of the incident shared on German social media shows a gunman being visibly thrown back by the recoil from his rifle.

The migrant gunman then attempted to climb the outer wall of the Israeli consulate general and found he was unable to, and so he opened fire on the building itself. This was also two shots, one of which struck a window. Five other rounds were let off by the teen, including when he ran into a pair of police officers who ordered him to surrender the rifle, when he fired on the lawmen.

Even after now-deceased suspect Emrah I. was gunned down by officers, he still attempted to attack the police from a prone position. In all, he was on the move and firing for around ten minutes, it is stated.

That the perpetrator is reported to have been born to an otherwise well-integrated, stable, middle-class family of migrants in neighbouring Austria also underlines the continued risk European nations face from managing diverse populations, where some second and third generation migrants can become vulnerable to online radicalisation.

#9  Some more info from the Austrian press

Shortly before he was able to fire the shots in Munich, the Islamist terrorist escaped from the police.

Just 15 minutes before the attack, the young Austrian with Bosnian roots caught the attention of a police patrol as he was getting out of his Renault Capture. Although the officers noticed that something was wrong, they decided to continue driving for the time being. That was devastating.

After that, the horrific act in Munich occurred. The 18-year-old Emrah I., with Bosnian roots, fired nine to ten shots after police officers spotted him near the Nazi Documentation Center and the Israeli Consulate, according to “Bild.” The officers returned fire. The attacker was shot and killed. Investigators believe the attack was an attempted terrorist attack by an Islamist.

Emrah lived with his younger brother and his parents in a single-family home development in Neumarkt am Wallersee near Salzburg (population 6,600). According to the “Salzburger Nachrichten,” the house where the shooter lived was in a “well-to-do neighborhood.” Accordingly, the family, which has Bosnian roots, is fully integrated in the community.

Emrah I. first attracted attention at school in February 2023 when he threatened a fellow student, then attacked and injured him. During a search of his room, police found propaganda material from the terrorist organization IS on his cell phone.

According to “Bild”, Emrah I. had played three video games with tactical shooting exercises on the Internet. In the background of the games, the flag of the terrorist group Al-Nusra Front was displayed. Emrah I. was fascinated by weapons, bombs, and killing sprees.

IDF: More than 15 rocket launchers, Hezbollah sites targeted in south Lebanon airstrikes
[IsraelTimes] More than 15 rocket launchers and sites belonging to Hezbollah were targeted in a series of Arclight airstrike

...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
this evening, the IDF says.

According to the military, some of the launchers were primed for rocket attacks on Israel.

The IDF says that immediately following the strikes, rockets were seen flying out of some of the targeted launchers, which landed in Lebanese territory.

The military publishes footage of the strikes. According to Lebanese media, the strikes occurred in the Nabatieh Governate.

Science & Technology
"Death Tech" Hopes to Stop the Clock
[Chick] If you could turn back the proverbial clock, would you? What if you could stop the clock altogether? That’s what some companies are trying to do in an emerging industry known as "death tech."

Can a Computer Cheat Death?

Death technology refers to the range of technologies and innovations designed to extend life by preventing death. This goes well beyond anti-wrinkle cream. Companies in this field range from those finding a cure for Alzheimer’s to some who want to revive the long dead.

Billions are spent on research to eradicate disease, slow the aging process, or prevent death altogether. If growth projections are accurate, the "lifespan improvement" industry should be worth $504 billion by 2025.

Do You Want to Be a Robot?

Looking to cheat death? Death tech also includes companies that help people achieve "digital immortality." These companies create a copy of your digital footprint, then create a look-alike avatar that your loved ones can interact with after you’re gone. You may not be present, but you can "live on" and interact with your loved ones.

Theoretical physicist, Dr. Michio Kaku, was involved in one such project called Eterni.me. When asked about the idea of digital immortality, Dr. Kaku responded, "One day you’ll have a disk that has all your consciousness on it and you’ll be able to, perhaps, put it into a robot... and you’ll be immortal. Even if your physical body decays, your consciousness, your memories, your personality quirks will live forever... Why not live forever? Why do we have to die?"

The Bible answers Dr. Kaku’s question. Hebrews 9:27 says, "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." No amount of technology or digital data storing can delay the inevitable.

What About Freezing?

Pioneers in the death tech space are even freezing people as soon as they are clinically deceased in hopes of reviving them later. Cryogenics is a concept that sounds like it belongs in a science fiction novel. However, there are very real companies agreeing to put people’s bodies into a state of deep-freeze post-death. They hope that one day, technology will become so advanced that the frozen bodies can be resuscitated.

Robert Ettinger, the founder of cryogenics, once wrote: "No matter what kills us, whether old age or disease, and even if freezing techniques are still crude when we die, sooner or later our friends of the future should be equal to the task of reviving and curing us."

Unfortunately, this is a gamble that may cause people to delay their need to face the reality of eternity. Those who trust science for their future will ultimately find themselves waking up in the flames of hell instead of sleeping on ice. What an ugly surprise!

-Great Cultural Revolution
Remedial math at Harvard
[AmericanThinker] ...Charles Murray is a prolific author and writer on education. He notes:

For 40 years, American leaders have been unwilling to discuss the underlying differences in academic ability that children bring to the classroom. Over the same period, federal policy, backed by billions of taxpayer dollars in loans and grants, has aggressively encouraged more and more students to try to obtain a college education. As a result, about half of all high-school graduates now enroll in four-year colleges, despite the ample evidence that just a small minority of American students — about 10-15% — have the academic ability to do well in college.
But they're real good at having pro-Hamas demonstrations
...The problem is when Barack Obama federalized the student loan industry, colleges were incentivized to admit everyone with a loan, which led to remedial high schools on campus, tuition inflation, grade inflation, and the devaluation of a college degree. One would think our Ivy League schools would not fall into this academic death spiral. One would think "surely they’d maintain academic standards!" One would think wrong. Even Harvard, our first university, founded in 1636 to teach ministers, has succumbed:
The Harvard Math Department will pilot a new introductory course aimed at rectifying a lack of foundational algebra skills among students, according to Harvard’s Director of Introductory Math Brendan A. Kelly.

The course, titled Math MA5, will run alongside two established math courses — Math MA and MB — with an expanded five-day schedule. Kelly said that students in MA5 will meet with "one of two instructors all five days" with "a variety of different activities" on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

And whatever happened to kindly telling people they’re just not qualified, that there are specific performance standards and everyone must meet them if they want to enroll at America’s most prestigious center of higher education?

Sadly, the answers are obvious, aren’t they?

Texas Gov. Abbott reveals which 3 issues Trump should focus on during debate: 'Let Harris talk'
[FoxNews] Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has been in more than a few debates during his decades-long political career.

Abbott won three terms as state attorney general before winning election and two re-elections as Texas governor.

So his advice to former President Trump ahead of Tuesday's first and potentially only debate between the GOP presidential nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris — the Democratic Party's nominee — is "Let Harris talk."

"The more she talks without talking into a teleprompter, the more she shows America that she’s really not up to the task," Abbott emphasized in an interview with Fox News Digital along the sidelines of the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership meeting in Las Vegas.

Abbott asserted that "if he [Trump] lets her talk and if he focuses on three issues — one is the border, another is the inflation caused by Harris and [President] Biden, and the other is the rapid crime that we see in some cities, caused by people like Harris and [her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim] Walz — Americans are going to understand the last thing they want to do is to have Kamala Harris running our country, because it would be run into the ground."

The governor endorsed Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination last November — before the start early this year of voting in the Republican primaries — when the two leaders teamed up for an event along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Earlier this week, Abbott was on the campaign trail in battleground Arizona on behalf of Trump. And he says he will continue to make the case for the former president.

In the middle of a press of bodies at the departing flight TSA line on a HOT Dallas summer day, I began to sweat. Not a gentle drop on my brow, shirt soaking rivulets.

Bereft of my Stetson, now a elderly older, bald shaven headed gentleman I was of course guided to the sniffer station for a secondary inspection and 'safe' TSA statistic augmentation.

The sniffer alarmed and I was grabbed then securely guided to the 'pat-down' station. "What's up?" I asked the bulky pre-trans female giving me the free exam. "You were selected sir because the sensor station alarmed for an accelerant, alcohol."

"Oh, I chuckled, that's beer sweat.
You better change your gloves."

Nutrition education lacking at most medical schools
[Harvard] Few U.S. medical schools emphasize nutrition in their curricula, which is potentially undermining doctors’ abilities to effectively address chronic diseases, including heart disease and cancer, according to nutrition experts.

A July 8, 2018 Washington Post article noted that while some medical schools are establishing teaching kitchens and offering electives on nutrition, there remains a dearth of nutrition education for up-and-coming doctors. A 2015 survey of 121 four-year medical schools found that 71% didn’t require at least 25 hours of nutrition education and fewer than 20% required a nutrition course.

Walter Willett, professor of epidemiology and nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, warned that such an "extremely unbalanced medical education" could have long-term impacts on patients.

"People are gaining a pound or two a year, and nobody says anything. But then by age 50 or 55, they’ve often gained 30 or 40 pounds, which has huge impacts on their health," Willett said. "In the younger years, middle age, people are acquiring the risk factors that often don’t show up as major diseases until later in life."

I'm Outta Here! 'Disgusted' Alan Dershowitz Announces He's Ditching the Democratic Party
[Red State] Harvard Professor of Law Emeritus Alan Dershowitz has proven to be a wealth of (often but not always) solid commentary and analysis in recent years, as he is one of the few on the left side of the political aisle who’s been willing to point out that much of the endless Democrat lawfare against Donald Trump has been a banana republic style of justice and runs counter to our Constitution.

He’s also been a lifelong Democrat, which has been head-scratching to me. I sometimes wish I could ask, "How can you be a lifelong Democrat—did you hear what you yourself just said?"

But even Dershowitz has come to the obvious realization: this is not the Democrat Party of old; no, the modern version is a shrill, extremist version that wants to fundamentally transform America into some weird socialist utopia that it was never meant to be. He announced in August on the "Talkline With Zev Brenner Podcast" that he’s had enough in a clip that was re-posted Thursday evening and has gone viral on social media.

He's no longer a Democrat:

When a well known pillar of the Real Democrat Party openly states the New Democrat Party (NDP) is using a Banana Republic style of justice tactics, it runs counter to the US Constitution and US Code of Law.

That speaks volumes.

MI, NC Appeals Courts Order Removal of RFK Jr. from Presidential Ballots
[Breitbart] Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s (RFK’s) name will not appear on ballots in North Carolina or Michigan following emergency orders Friday from courts in both states, in a pair of major wins for former President Donald Trump.

RFK suspended his longshot third-party bid for the White House and threw his support behind Trump, shaking up the political establishment because of the Kennedy family’s dynastic status in the Democratic Party.

While Kennedy could not win the White House under any realistic scenario, polls showed him with sufficiently high single-digit strength to potentially change the outcome between Trump and Kamala Harris in certain battleground states — including Michigan and North Carolina — depending on which major-party candidate he siphoned more votes from.

The Silent Crisis: Understanding Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Its Impact on Our Health
[Real Clear Wire] Last Thursday, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. withdrew (kind of) from the 2024 presidential race. He didn’t have to, and in the case of 40 out of 50 states, he actually didn’t. But, he also didn’t have to endorse Donald J. Trump, and yet he did. As I waited for his press conference, I wondered: What could drive a lion of Democratic party royalty to side with Trump? The answer turned out to be a trio of existential crises. As RFK Jr. explained, he and Trump are aligned on three critical issues, and they are of such existential importance that he was willing to set aside their differences to work together.

Beyond being a refreshing break from the mind-numbing drumbeat of Trump’s opposition, RFK Jr.’s remarks were a stark reminder of why two-thirds of Americans believe the country is moving down the wrong track. He first took aim at the military-industrial complex’s perpetual provoking of foreign wars and followed up with the alarming assault on free speech. These were, however, just the warmup acts for his primary grievance: the moral and legal corruption of the food and pharmaceutical industries, assisted by their captured agencies, e.g., the FDA and USDA.

RFK Jr. cited horrifying statistics and catastrophic trends, highlighting the surge in chronic diseases, cancer, neurodevelopmental disorders, metabolic syndrome, and Alzheimer’s disease. He then laid the blame squarely at the feet of Big Sugar, Big Ag, Big Pharma, and the cabal of government sycophants who do the bidding of their corporate sugar daddies (pun intended). Sprinkled among the sickening stats, he made multiple references to mitochondrial dysfunction, a term many may not fully understand. If we are going to forcibly reconstruct several industries, along with their regulatory agencies, over this medical crisis, we’d do well to understand what it is we’re battling. So, what exactly is mitochondrial dysfunction, and why is it being blamed for such a wide range of health issues?

What Are Mitochondria?

Parental responsibility faces tough new test - Georgia Shooter
[BBC] Murder charges brought against the father of a US school shooter have laid down a new marker on the issue of parental responsibility.

Colin Gray bought his son Colt an AR-style rifle for Christmas last year, even though the boy had been questioned by police just seven months earlier about online threats to commit a school shooting.

Investigators suspect the 14-year-old may have used that same weapon on Wednesday when he shot dead four people and wounded nine others at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.

The teen has since been charged with murder and - in an unprecedented move - so too has his dad.

Mr Gray, 54, faces two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of cruelty to children.

Together, the charges carry a maximum penalty of 180 years in prison.

CAN THEY MAKE THE CHARGES STICK?
The murder counts against Mr Gray stem from him "knowingly allowing his son to possess a weapon", according to Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

The pair of charges apply to the two teenagers killed in Wednesday's rampage: Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn, both 14.

Two Apalachee teachers - Richard Aspinwall, 39, and Cristina Irimie, 53 - also died in the attack.

The charges Mr Gray faces are second-degree and that may be due to specific wording in Georgia law.

According to the state's criminal code, a person commits second-degree murder "when, in the commission of cruelty to children in the second degree, he or she causes the death of another human being irrespective of malice".

With prosecutors bringing these charges barely more than 24 hours after the shooting, experts caution the facts are still emerging, and it remains unclear what legal arguments will be directed at Mr Gray.

"There's a connection between the deaths and 'the commission of cruelty to children,'" said Evan Bernick, an associate law professor at Northern Illinois University.

"But is the cruelty directly arising from the shooting, or is it cruelty to his son that may have led [the boy] to commit the shooting? We just don't know yet."

The son will be tried as an adult, meaning that the criminal justice system will treat his homicide prosecution as that of somebody fully responsible for their own actions.

But that does not mean his father will escape punishment, Prof Bernick told the BBC.

The crux of the argument will be not that Colin Gray wanted the shooting to happen, but that he "failed to intervene, and his failure to intervene was negligent in ways that justify treating him as part of the homicide".

IF HE DIDN'T PULL THE TRIGGER, WHY A MURDER CASE?
Across the US, there are laws on the books to punish parents or guardians for everything from academic truancy and underage driving to shoplifting and vandalism.

But prosecutors in the state of Michigan expanded the reach of such statutes earlier this year when they secured dual convictions against the parents of another teen gunman.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to at least 10 years in prison for how their criminal negligence as parents contributed to their son Ethan, 14, killing four of his classmates in 2018.

Thursday's decision to charge the father with murder - a far more severe charge - could again test the legal bounds of parental responsibility.

Eve Brank, a psychology professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, researches how the law intervenes and sometimes interferes with family decision-making.

In her view, the emerging concept of punishing parents after school shootings reflects broader frustration around US gun violence and, in the absence of regulatory reform, the inability to curb the country's unrelenting series of firearm incidents.

"It's not like we've created a bunch of new laws to address these issues. They're just being used, somewhat creatively, to address the issue," she said.

"In terms of what the research shows, most people would agree there are a lot of influences on how children behave, not just their parents."

But she noted that prosecutors in Georgia may be privy to information from the investigation not yet publicly available and may believe they can successfully argue that, like the Crumbleys before him, Colin Gray's actions were particularly egregious.

Tim Carey, a law and policy adviser at the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, argues that charging parents is also a reflection on weak gun safety policies.

Georgia has been "very apprehensive to gun violence prevention policies", he said, and prosecutors in such states may "feel confined to trying to bring a sense of justice or retribution after the fact, in part because they couldn't prevent" such a tragedy.

WHERE COULD PUNISHING PARENTS END UP?
Some legal scholars worry that expanding the toolkit prosecutors can use after a shooting could have unintended consequences.

"We know we have a problem of violence and guns in our society," said Ekow Yankah, a law and philosophy professor at the University of Michigan.

"And instead of tackling it with systemic and regulatory powers, we soothe ourselves with these kind of extraordinary prosecutions."

But, Prof Yankah warns, prosecutors are now armed with "a hammer" they can bring down on others, including poor families from minority groups and single parents.

"School shootings are highly visible... but I'm worried about the cases that won't make the news," he said.

And while parents are now at greater risk of being penalised for their children's violent actions, less progress has been made on the widespread access to firearms or on the availability of mental health resources for struggling kids.

"Our default response to very deep social problems in the United States is to bring in the apparatus of criminal law," said Prof Bernick.

The US Constitution and Legal code is very clear, we are not some old feudal system < 1600AD country that holds a whole Family bloodlines responsible for the crimes of 1 family member. Unless they can show a Parent deliberately and directly assisted in the crime. eg. like the WH staff hiding Joe's mental issues and running a shadow Gov. for 3 years

I feel it is just an Election Year Political overreaching stunt by the DA's and DOJ.

What if the kid stole Dad's pickup, chainsaw, used Mom's kitchen knife, or bought gas and poured it in the halls and set the school on fire is the Gas station or the parents guilty of Murder?

But with that said, given we are told the FED's investigated the brat for running off at the mouth last May 2023. Dad & Mom knew that 13 y/o Brat had verbal rage issues. There are some criminal and civil legal issues to be address. But Murder charges?

This smells of just a way for Big Government to FORCE a plea bargain for a PR win in an election year.

BTW: As we are seeing younger and younger mass murderers, maybe the legal age limit needs to be adjusted to account for greater criteria like, maturity, planning and understanding. Instead of a general 18 y/o cutoff.

Kansas Police: 750,000 Fentanyl Pills Seized in One County in 2024 but Crisis Persists
[Breitbart] Kansas’s fentanyl crisis is a “very dangerous situation,” according to law enforcement officials, as the synthetic opioid has caused approximately 80 percent of drug overdose deaths in one of the state’s most populous areas.

Authorities from Sedgwick County, which has a population of more than 520,000 people, revealed that police seized a whopping 750,000 fentanyl pills so far in 2024, KWCH12 reported Thursday.

Even with the massive police efforts to crack down on drug trafficking, the problem is far from over.

“This stuff is extremely strong. We’re not seeing where one dose of Narcan is bringing people back. It’s multiple doses that we’re having to administer, and the most we’ve administered to somebody is five,” Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter told the local outlet.

“It’s very dangerous. If it’s not cut with something before it comes here, if it’s straight fentanyl powder, that type of pow[d]er can soak through your system; you can breathe it,” he explained.

Easter hopes that additions to police staff and opioid settlement money will lead to a substantial change in the area.

“We’re hoping, in the future, we can get on the front end of this, which means prevention, education, treatment, recovery services that would be more robust than we have,” he said.

According to the Douglas County Citizen’s Committee on Alcoholism, Inc. (DCCCA), more training needs to be made available on how to use the opioid overdose-reversal drug, Naloxone — commonly known as Narcan.

“(We are) seeing fentanyl being used with cocaine or methamphetamine, and, so, there’s a lot of education on that, as well, because we know that Naloxone only works on opioids, and, so, when you have another substance, it creates a whole other safety situation,” DCCCA Community Support Specialist Stacy Haines told KWCH.

Since launching a Naloxone vending machine at a central Wichita bail bonds establishment, more than 2,800 kits have been dispensed to those who need it.

“It’s nice to have that 24-7 access, 365 days a year, right there at 705 N. Broadway,” Haines said. “So, we’re glad that we can provide that.”

According to seven-time New York Times best-selling author Peter Schweizer, “our country is at war” with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and Chinese crime rings who poison Americans with fentanyl after trafficking it across the southern border.

“Our country is at war, and we need to wake up to the fact that we are at war, and war is being waged on us,” Schweizer warned during a February discussion with radio host Mark Levin.

“Part of this is what China’s doing to us. The other part is why our leaders are letting them do it, and they’re not even calling them out. Gavin Newsom is a prime example of that,” he continued, explaining why powerful U.S. figures turn a blind eye while China kills Americans, as detailed in his latest book, Blood Money.

“Meanwhile, fentanyl deaths in California are up more than 1,200 percent since 2016,” the author said, blasting California Gov. Newsom (D) for refusing to hold the CCP accountable.

According to Levin, Blood Money: Why the Powerful Turn a Blind Eye While China Kills Americans is an “absolutely crucial book.”

Mass Immigration Raises Housing Costs, Strains Healthcare Services in Middle America: ‘This Is Not Sustainable'
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s wave of mass immigration is raising housing costs, straining healthcare services, and filling public schools in middle American cities like Springfield, Ohio.

As Breitbart News has chronicled for over a year, the Biden-Harris administration has helped flood Springfield — with a population of less than 60,000 residents — with roughly 20,000 Haitian migrants.

For months, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), now former President Donald Trump’s running mate, has been calling attention to Springfield as an example of mass immigration raising housing costs for Americans.

“This self-imposed disaster is crushing the job prospects of our citizens, making it more difficult for Ohio families to find homes and draining social service programs funded by American taxpayers,” Vance said last year.

A report from the New York Times recently admitted that mass immigration has made Springfield’s housing issue much worse:

Michelle Lee-Hall, executive director of Springfield’s housing authority, said that the affordability problem had been aggravated by landlords pivoting to Haitians who were willing to pay higher rent. [Emphasis added]

“Here in Springfield, the new homeless are people who can’t afford to pay $2,000 or $3,000 a month in rent,” she said. [Emphasis added]

One particular house flipper in Springfield told the Times that of his 400 housing units, 8-in-10 are occupied by newly arrived Haitian migrants.

It is not only housing costs that are causing problems for Springfield, brought on by mass immigration. Healthcare services are being pushed to the brink, where once 15-minute consultations are now 45 minutes in some cases as English-speaking healthcare workers navigate how to communicate with an influx of French-speaking Haitian migrants.

“This is not sustainable,” the chief executive of a healthcare center told the Times. noting that many of her staff had left following burnout. The center has had to hire translators and French-speaking staff, which has skyrocketed costs.

Springfield’s public schools are also seeing the results of mass immigration.

Registration day in the Springfield City School District, the Times reports, was filled with the families of Haitian migrant children.

Of the almost 350 new students enrolled in the district this year, the overwhelming majority are the children of newly arrived Haitian migrants. School administrators are concerned about how the district will deal with the growing influx of migrant children.

According to the latest figures from the Congressional Budget Office, the Biden-Harris administration has welcomed more than nine million migrants to the United States since the start of 2021 — the equivalent of importing nearly the population of Honduras in less than four years.

Expert: Data Indicate Violent Crime Is Not Declining, It Is Just Not Being Reported
[Breitbart] A startling trend based on contradictory data from the Bureau of Justice Statistics and the Federal Bureau of Investigation indicates that violent crime is not going down; rather, it has increased and is not being reported, according to Crime Prevention Research Center President John Lott.

Lott detailed the trend during a Trump campaign press call on Friday, hours before the National Fraternal Order of Police endorsed former President Donald Trump.

The expert pointed to a substantial divide in violent crime incidents reported by the Bureau of Justice Statistics’s National Crime Victimization Survey versus those reported by the FBI. The divide is especially eye-poping because data in the past from the two organizations has trended closely together, he notes.

“There are two measures that the Department of Justice puts out on crime,” Lott explained:

One is the FBI data on crimes reported to police, and the other one is the National Crime Victimization Survey from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, which gets at a measure of total crime, both reported and unreported. They do that by surveying a mass of 240,000 people each year, and they’ve been doing that for 50 years.

“What you find is that these two measures, prior to 2020, generally moved along together, but, since 2020, they’ve moved in opposite directions in each year, often by very large amounts,” he added. “If you take 2022, which is the last complete data that we have final data for both of those two measures, while the FBI showed a 2 percent drop in reported violent crime, the National Crime Victimization data showed a 42 percent increase in violent crime.”

Indeed, in 2021, the FBI reported 387 violent crimes per 100,000 people. The figure dropped to 380.7 per 100,000 people in 2022. Yet, the National Crime Victimization survey found that reports of violent crimes increased 42 percent, from 16.5 incidents per 1,000 people in 2021 to 23.5 per 1,000 people in 2022.

According to Lott, one cause of this trend is that the enforcement of certain crimes has “collapsed” over recent years:

Enforcement of violent crime and property crime has collapsed in this country. If you take just the FBI data, which is what the media, generally, and what the Democrats want to go and look at, in the five years before COVID in large cities of over a million, for example, the average arrest rate for violent crimes was 44 percent. It started falling, and after that, by 2022, it was down 20 percent. That’s over a 50 percent drop in three years. It’s never, in the entire time that we’ve had FBI data, it’s never been anything even closely low to that.

Notably, some blue states and Democrat district attorneys in major cities have embraced soft-on-crime policies in recent years, including cashless bail for certain felony offenses in some places, like New York.

Lott emphasized that a factor in whether victims will actually report a violent crime is whether or not they believe their perpetrator will be held to account.

“So, the question you have to ask yourself is: Do you think it’s more interesting to look at reported crimes or total crimes?” he posed to reporters on the call. “And one of the reasons why this collapse is important is that we’ve known for a long time the rate that people report crimes to the police depends, in part, on whether they think anything’s going to happen, whether they think the criminals are going to be arrested and punished.”

“And if they don’t think criminals are going to be arrested and punished, they’re less likely to go and report crimes to the police,” he added.

Economy
Breitbart Business Digest: The Jobs Report Was Even Worse Than It Seemed
If you squint at the latest jobs report, you might find something to cheer about. But if you look at it with clear eyes, what you really see is an economy downshifting and bracing for impact.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics told us Friday that employers added 142,000 jobs in August—hardly anything to write home about and well short of expectations for the second month in a row. Add to that the revisions to June and July, which collectively erased 86,000 jobs from the books, and the three-month average is now a tepid 116,000. That’s a far cry from the 202,000 monthly average we saw last year.

If we narrow that down to the private sector, employment grew by 73,900 in August, falling short of the consensus forecast of 136,000. What’s more, the prior month’s private sector figure was revised down from a lukewarm 97,000 to a chilly 74,000. The three-month average is now just 96,000. This suggests that businesses are not expanding payrolls, indicating a weakening demand for labor.

Go a step further and subtract the so-called government-adjacent sector of health care and social assistance, and private payroll growth drops to just 73,900. After revisions, the July figure was just 15,200, bordering on contraction territory, and the June figure was 28,3000. That brings the three-month average down to just 39,100, one of the weakest three-month periods outside of outright recessions and employment contractions recorded in data going back to 1990.

So, where’s the good news? August was not as weak as July or June, so the deterioration of the labor market may not be getting worse. Then again, given the history of large downside revisions, it’s very likely that the reported numbers for August are too high and will be revised down. So, perhaps things are getting worse and we just do not know it yet.

The unemployment rate fell from 4.3 percent to 4.2 percent. But that decline is less a sign of strength and more of a rounding error and a statistical quirk. The rise to 4.34 percent was largely due to temporary layoffs, which cleared up by August. And the actual move was from 4.25 percent—which was rounded up to 4.3 percent—to 4.23 percent—which was rounded down to 4.2 percent. So, all we really got was a two-tenths of a percentage point improvement that looks larger due to rounding.

The household survey, from which the unemployment rate is derived, showed slightly higher employment growth in August, with the number of employed people rising by 168,000. The discrepancy between the establishment survey and the household survey that got a lot of attention earlier this year after several reports showed far less employment growth in the household survey than the establishment survey seems to have been resolved. For the past three months, the two surveys have been producing results very close to each other.

THE FOREIGN WORKER SURGE
One aspect of the household survey that has received a lot of attention is the gap between native born employment and foreign born employment. In August, the number of U.S. born employees fell by 1.3 million and the number of foreign born employees rose by 635,000. Over the past 12-months, native born employment has contracted from 131 million to 129.7 million, a loss of 1.3 million natives from payrolls. The number of foreign-born employees has grown from 30.4 million to 31.6 million, a gain of 1.2 million.

This does mean that close to all of the increase in employment has gone to foreign-born workers. Actually, the official numbers may undercount the number of foreign born employees because the household survey is probably not picking up a lot of the newly arrived Biden-Harris open borders crisis migrants.

This is not, however, primarily a sign that foreign workers are taking jobs from Americans. What the government calls the “civilian noninstitutional” native population over 16 shrank by 392,000 over the past year. The U.S. born civilian labor force—that is, the part of the population that is able and willing to work—fell by 768,000. In other words, one of the primary drivers of the contraction in U.S. born workers is that there are fewer adults born here who are able and willing to work because our native population is aging, retiring, and dying.

Shocking video shows Florida teacher putting student in a chokehold
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Teacher Bennie Leverett was arrested on child abuse charges in connection with the classroom fight, which was filmed by another student on January 18 at Progress Village Middle School in Florida.

It is unclear what triggered the confrontation, as it begins with Leverett allegedly grappling with the student and holding him in a headlock as the teenager attempted to free himself.

After the shocking footage was discovered, the school's assistant principal Tashiska Fabian was also arrested after she allegedly ordered the student to delete the video and failed to report the incident to law enforcement.

In the footage, released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, other students in the classroom were heard laughing hysterically as the struggle began.

As the teacher and student continued grappling, the severity appeared to dawn on the other students in the room, with one approaching the teacher as the girl filming yelled: 'Dude, help your boy.'

The two fell to the floor at one stage as the student struggled to break out of the chokehold.

While still on the floor, the teacher claimed that the student 'didn't respond to me', leading the other students to scream back at the teacher that 'he can't' while in a headlock.

'He can't, he's dying, you're killing him,' the girl filming added.

A police report claimed the student involved was 14 years old.

Chokeholds have been banned by many major police departments across the US since the 2014 death of Eric Garner, a New York City man police were trying to apprehend for selling loose cigarettes, and that effort ramped up after the police killing of George Floyd in Minnesota in 2020.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation after the schoolroom video surfaced in February, and found that Leverett's chokehold 'restricted the student's ability to breathe', reports WTSP.

Hillsborough County Schools officials said Leavitt was 'pulled from duty' when allegations were made against him in February, before he was arrested and charged with child abuse the next month.

Deputies also alleged that assistant principal Fabian failed to report the incident when she met with the teacher and student immediately after their classroom clash.

She also allegedly warned the student who filmed the incident to delete the clip, and was removed from her duties at the same time as Leverett. Deputies later arrested the assistant principal on September 4.

Following Fabian's arrest, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister slammed the two school employees, branding Leverett's behavior 'deeply troubling' while scathing Fabian for 'failing to do the right thing.'

'This is a complete betrayal of trust within our community,' Chronister said.

'I'm proud of the witness who stepped up and did the right thing by reporting the incident, ensuring law enforcement could step in and bring justice for the victim.'

Leverett is now facing one count of felony child abuse, and the Tampa Bay Times reported that he posted a $5,000 bond to be released in March. He pleaded not guilty.

Fabian is facing one count of failure to report child abuse, and was released Wednesday after posting a $2,500 bond.

Pakistani charged with plotting ‘slaughter’ at NY Jewish center on anniversary of Oct. 7 Hamas attack
[IsraelTimes] A Pak man was arrested in Canada this week for plotting a mass shooting at a Jewish center in Brooklyn on the one-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
that sparked the latest conflict in the Middle East, federal authorities announce.

US Attorney General Merrick Garland says Muhammad Shahzeb Khan had attempted to travel from Canada, where he lives, to New York City with the "stated goal of slaughtering, in the name of ISIS, as many Jewish people as possible."

The 20 year-old, who is also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was apprehended on Sept. 4 and charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to the terror group, which stands for the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and al-Sham.

"As I said to Canada’s Minister of Public Safety yesterday, we are deeply grateful to our Canadian partners for their critical law enforcement actions in this matter," Garland says in a statement. "Jewish communities — like all communities in this country — should not have to fear that they will be targeted by a hate-fueled terrorist attack."

US authorities said Khan began sharing ISIS propaganda videos and expressing his support for the terror group in social media posts and communications with others on an encrypted messaging app last November.

In conversations with two undercover law enforcement officers,
…the usual FBI informant/jihadi best friends, or Canadian Mounties ditto? Inquiring minds want to know…
he confirmed that he and another ISIS supporter based in the US had been planning to carry out attacks against Jewish centers in America and needed to obtain AR-style assault rifles, ammunition and other materials, according to the Justice Department.

Khan also provided details about how he would cross the border from Canada into the US and that he was considering conducting the attacks on either the Oct. 7 anniversary or on Oct. 11, which is the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur, authorities say.
I need to put that on my calendar — what with all that life stuff happening, I kind of lost track…
Then on Aug. 20, he told the undercover officers that he had settled on targeting New York City because of its sizable Jewish population and sent a photograph of the specific area inside of a Jewish center where he planned to carry out the attack, according to the Justice Department.

Using three separate vehicles, Khan began travelling to the US but was stopped around Ormstown, a town in the Canadian province of Quebec that is about 12 miles (19 kilometers) from the US border, federal authorities say.

-Short Attention Span Theater-
Fire breaks out in Escondido SDG&E battery storage facility
ESCONDIDO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Fire crews are battling a fire at a San Diego Gas and Electric-operated battery storage facility in Escondido that broke out Thursday afternoon.

According to Escondido Fire Division Chief Tyler Batson, crews were first notified of the fire at 12:09 p.m. as a ringing alarm and a smoke check in the battery bank area of the facility, located at 571 Enterprise St.

Upon arrival, fire crews noticed smoke was seen coming from one of the battery storage trailers. Technicians on board confirmed a small fire was burning in one of the lithium-ion battery rank storage, Batson added.

A 1st alarm commercial fire response was called, with SDG&E’s contracted fire brigade, county emergency response and Escondido hazmat crews responding to the scene alongside Escondido Fire Department personnel.

As of 4 p.m., the fire remains active and has not been extinguished. According to Batson, experts said water cannot be put on the fire due to the involved chemicals, so their intervention is focusing on the area surrounding it.

"Fire suppression efforts are now being made to protect the neighboring battery storage units to make sure that they don’t light on fire as well," Batson said. "The plan is really let what’s on fire burn and we’ll safely protect the areas around it to keep it from spreading."

A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for the area around the facility, which is made up of largely commercial and industrial buildings, as a safety precaution.

The order applies to business located east of Alpine Street, south of Mission Road, west of Enterprise Street and north of Auto Park Way, the city of Escondido said in a Facebook post Thursday afternoon.

Some homes are located near the fire, although it is not believed to be an immediate threat to residents at this time, Batson said.

On Thursday evening, the fire prompted the Escondido Union School District to announce the closures of Carolyn Gilbert Education Center, the Del Dios Academy of Arts and Sciences and Rock Springs Elementary schools for Friday.

No additional details were immediately available, including what caused the battery storage facility to erupt in flames.

According to Batson, crews will remain on scene until the flames subside.

"What I’ve been told by SDG&E is that, best case, this fire burns itself out in about 12 hours, worst case, about 48 hours," Batson said.
Escondido is about 15 to 20 miles inland. Friday evening now, the wind is not blowing at all, a haze is in the air and it stinks on the coast.

NYS Judge delays Trump sentencing in hush money case until November
[NBCnews] A New York judge has delayed former President Donald Trump's sentencing on felony criminal charges until Nov. 26.

"This is not a decision this Court makes lightly but it is the decision which in this Court's view, best advances the interests of justice," Judge Juan Merchan wrote in the decision handed down Friday.

Merchan issued the ruling after Trump's attorneys had asked him to postpone the Sept. 18 sentencing until after the election to allow them to appeal a pending ruling involving presidential immunity.

'Be useful to Russia.' How Dagestan's implacable leader ended the war
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Dmitry Gubin

[REGNUM] "Shamil has been captured. Congratulations to the Caucasian Army!" This short message from Adjutant General Alexander Baryatinsky about the capture of the Dagestani village of Gunib marked the end of an entire era in Russian history.

The Caucasian War, which exhausted both the empire and the mountain peoples, did not stop for more than forty years: from 1817 until September 6, 1859, when the last stronghold of the “unpeaceful mountaineers” in the east of the Caucasus fell, and the Amir al-Mu’minin himself, the “commander of the faithful,” Imam Shamil, surrendered to the soldiers of the Baryatinsky Corps.

The fighting in the Western Caucasus, in the Circassian lands, continued until 1864, but that was an afterthought - according to historians, the outcome of the war (the progress of which was closely followed in Istanbul and London) became clear precisely then, in the village of Gunib, exactly 165 years ago.

According to eyewitnesses, seeing that resistance was futile, the imam came out to the victors with a weapon, saying: “Just as honey can acquire a bitter taste, so war can become meaningless.”

The former implacable enemy lived the last 12 years in the status of a subject of the Russian Empire, a hereditary nobleman of the Kaluga province.

There is a curious episode in the descriptions of this time: during his travels through the Russian hinterland, Shamil stayed at the estate of his former enemy, Prince Baryatinsky, in Maryino (present-day Rylsk district of Kursk region). By the way, an interesting historical echo - the chambers of Hetman Mazepa are located on the estate's territory.

There is a legend that Shamil, on his way to Mecca (the Russian government let the ex-enemy go on a hajj to Arabia, where he died), stayed for several days at the retired general Baryatinsky's other estate - near Lgov on the bank of the Seim River. The imam performed prayers in a small pseudo-Gothic tower, which has since been called "Shamil's Tower".

All these names are familiar these days. Lgov and Rylsk, peaceful sleepy provinces in those years, are now not only border towns, but, alas, frontline towns as well. Our artillery is pounding the bridges across the Seim, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to break through. The Caucasus, which was “burning” in the 19th century and at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries, is now, on the contrary, a reliable rear, from where volunteers and contract soldiers go to defend the common country.

The current frontline work of the Caucasians can be called the fulfillment of Shamil’s covenant when he (and his sons Gazi-Muhammad and Muhammad-Shapi ) took the oath to Russia in 1866:

“I bequeathed to my children and my fellow believers to be loyal subjects of Russia and useful servants of our Fatherland.”

But this oath (which was followed by both the volunteer cavalrymen of the “Wild Division” during the First World War and the Dagestani militias of 1999) was preceded by a long feud, which was used by external forces in order to weaken Russia.

Britain and the Ottoman Empire viewed the North Caucasus as a battering ram against our country, just as the collective West now assigns the same role to Ukraine. At the same time - and this was evident in the example of the Caucasian War - foreign powers used and fueled the already existing difficulties in relations between the highlanders and the subjects of the "white tsar".

For a long time, until the first quarter of the 19th century, the Russian authorities pursued a policy towards this mountainous territory, described by General Vasily Potto in his work “The Caucasian War”:

"All our relations with the small Caucasian possessions had the character of some kind of peaceful negotiations and treaties. Most of not only the Dagestani and other khans, but even the Chechen elders... Russia paid salaries."

While it was a "gray zone" in the borderland, such a policy, coupled with the actions of the Terek Cossacks, was quite adequate. When, as a result of wars with Persia and the Ottoman Empire, Russia annexed Transcaucasia, communication with the newly acquired lands through the uncontrolled zone became absolutely intolerable.

In 1817, Alexander I commissioned the hero of the Napoleonic wars, General Alexei Yermolov, to restore order in the Caucasus Mountains. " Yermolov's principle was that gold is no protection from the enemy, and he began to put a price only on iron, which he forced to value more than gold," General Potto writes evasively. To stop mountain raids, Yermolov acted harshly - not limiting himself to building fortresses and creating clearings in the "gray zone", he resorted to destroying "bandit nests" and taking hostages.

Two years later, foreign “help” arrived: in 1819, the Anapa Pasha (the Black Sea coast was then still controlled by the Turks) sent agents to the Trans-Kuban Adyghe who “incite the Circassians, persuade them to attack the Russian border, and most of all, Yekaterinodar as the main point of the Black Sea population.”

At the same time, the penetration of British emissaries into the North Caucasus is recorded. Diplomat David Urquhart, who arrived from Istanbul in the 1830s and “in the field” — in Trans-Kuban — supervised the “Circassian issue,” and Captain Lyons, who at the same time delivered weapons to the North Caucasian princes and leaders, were already following the paths beaten by other “agents of influence.” Local rulers took the aid for granted, considering it a help in the war — which they considered religious.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg seemed to underestimate the significance and military danger of the events in the south. Infantry General Alexei Velyaminov argued to the court that it was possible to end the war in six years, provided that an additional 14 million rubles were allocated (a large sum, but it should be taken into account that the budget was calculated in hundreds of millions of rubles) and personnel were increased.

But, according to Potto, “the Tsar believed that one twentieth division in full strength… would be enough for Paskevich (Yermolov’s successor. — Ed.) to complete the conquest of the Caucasus that had begun.” Somewhat reminiscent of Pavel Grachev’s promise in December 1994 — to complete the Chechen campaign with the help of one parachute regiment.

In reality, the war not only dragged on, but also reached a new level.

THE POET AND HIS MURIDS
After Yermolov's resignation, military operations continued, but the focus was again on winning the loyalty of local elites and integrating them into Russian society.

In Transcaucasia, this practice was quite successful - there, the state tradition was strengthened over thousands of years and the tribal structure was absent.

In Dagestan and Chechnya, alas, it worked with varying success, and local leaders repeatedly defected from one camp to the other. Perhaps it would have triumphed there too, if not for, as they say now, “a black swan arrived” in the person of Imam Ghazi-Muhammad. This Sufi sheikh, poet and mujaddid (reformer), was also a talented organizer.

With the support of the local clergy, he declared a ghazawat (holy war against the infidels). This is how the separate militias were united into a single controlled structure of murids - translated from Arabic as "followers".

The first imam did not rule for long and died in the battle for the village of Gimry with the troops of General Rosen. Gazi-Muhammad's successor, Gamzat-bek, was not an imam for long, only a year, and was stabbed to death during Friday prayers in the main mosque of the village of Khunzakh. Gamzat became a victim of blood feud - which, by the way, was declared by the Avar ruler Hadji Murat - glorified by Leo Tolstoy in the story of the same name.

Finally, in 1834, the third imam of Chechnya and Dagestan became Gazi-Muhammad's childhood friend and fellow student, Shamil. And this was not just a "personnel decision", but a fundamental change in the war.

"SINCERELY DEVOTED TO THE IMAM"
For a quarter of a century, Shamil commanded troops in Chechnya and Dagestan and tried, not without success, to create a state on this territory. Moreover, the state was special in many respects. In one respect, he largely anticipated the future - he built an Islamic theocracy, not a traditional monarchy.

Then the Sudanese Mahdists, the supporters of Ayatollah Khomeini in Iran and the Afghan Taliban, banned in the Russian Federation, will act in this way. But the task of the third imam was more difficult.

There were no cities at all in the lands subordinated to Shamil, so - before the beginning of the resistance to Russian troops - there was no state as such in Chechnya and a significant part of Dagestan. Now it was created by directive.

Moreover, Shamil relied not on the tribal or feudal nobility (especially since the latter simply did not exist in mountainous Chechnya), but on the naibs - his authorized representatives, who were recruited from the most capable mountaineers and reported directly to the commander of the faithful.

The naibs " were sincerely devoted to the imam and for the sake of the cause did not spare either their property or themselves, observing justice among the people subject to them...", recalled Shamil's son-in-law Abdurrahman Kazikumukhsky. The naib of the Avar lands was the above-mentioned Hadji Murat.

It was under Shamil that the mountain militias turned into a full-fledged army, and from individual skirmishes and local operations, the military actions in the Caucasus grew into a real war. Where both Lieutenant of the Tenginsky Infantry Regiment Mikhail Lermontov and the cadet of the 20th Artillery Brigade Count Leo Tolstoy managed to fight.

Listing the "fights" (using the language of the reports of the First and Second Chechen Wars) would take too much time. Suffice it to say that the battle on the Valerik River, celebrated by Lermontov - in which the Russian detachment of General Galafeyev fought the murids of Akhverd Magoma, one of Shamil's most capable "generals" - is considered one of the bloodiest battles of the 1840s.

MEDALLION FROM THE SULTAN
During the Crimean War, Shamil essentially opened a second front by moving the Dagestani highlanders into Kakheti, where they were stopped by Russian troops. Historians believe that the invasion occurred after negotiations between the imam and emissaries from the Turkish Anatolian army in 1854. Even earlier, at the beginning of the war, Shamil received an offer to prepare to meet the allied (i.e. Anglo-French-Turkish) troops in Imereti.

Historians believe that during the Crimean campaign, a number of British politicians, including future Prime Minister Lord Palmerston, "were prepared to agree to the creation of an independent Circassian state headed by an imam after the war."

However, Shamil himself was already clearly aware that the allies were using him. “Instead of gratitude for his willingness to act in accordance with the allies’ plans and for the speed with which he fulfilled his promise, they began to reproach and scold him as the last subject,” Colonel Runovsky, who served as a bailiff to the imam, relayed Shamil’s oral memoirs when he was already living in Kaluga.

Other sources provide further evidence: “Shamil never received anything from the Ottomans except banners, medallions and empty promises.”

BEHIND THE PICTURE FRAME
Although the Crimean War was unsuccessful for Russia, its end allowed the Caucasian War to be concluded. The troops operating on the Turkish front in Anatolia were transferred to the Caucasus in 1856, under the command of a new commander, Prince Baryatinsky.

At the same time, Baryatinsky, as the Caucasian viceroy, "financially encouraged the highlanders' desire for a peaceful life, willingly took the most warlike ones into Russian service, but those who were ready to serve the Russian tsar," notes historian Irina Kumova. Baryatinsky believed that the highlanders were quite capable of living in the Russian Empire, relying on internal self-government.

The Caucasian Corps launched an offensive in Chechnya and mountainous Dagestan against the highlanders who had not laid down their arms.

After taking the last capital of the Imamate, the Chechen village of Vedeno, Shamil went into the mountains, beyond the Andiyskoye Koysu River. The last battles in 1859 took place on the approaches to Mount Gunib, where the Imam had fortified himself with half a thousand loyal murids.

"All of Chechnya and Dagestan have now submitted to the power of the Russian Emperor, and only Shamil personally persists in resisting the great sovereign. <…> I demand that Shamil immediately lay down his arms," Baryatinsky announced on August 24, promising full pardon in the event of surrender.

But the imam gave the last fight.

In the absence of action cameras and photo cameras, the events and memorable places of the forty-year Caucasian War were captured (naturally, after the fact) by painters: from professionals like Franz Roubaud and Ivan Aivazovsky to amateurs, such as Lieutenant Lermontov. The details of the capture of Gunib are known to the general public from the painting by Theodore Horschelt (currently exhibited in the Kursk Museum) - an artist who is not the most famous, but who was personally present at the assault.

The painting depicts the dawn of August 25 (September 6, new style), when soldiers of the Apsheron regiment, having climbed the cliff from the southern side, fought a hundred murids on one of the mountain ledges. The enemy is depicted with all respect - it is clear that the mountaineers, one of whom holds the banner of ghazawat, are ready to fight to the end. And many, as eyewitnesses recalled, threw themselves into the abyss, not wanting to surrender.

The only inaccuracy is that the painting depicts Baryatinsky and Shamil in the thick of the battle. In reality, the general was watching the assault from a grove at the foot of the mountain, and Shamil was in the village of Gunib. A detachment of Apsheronians cut off the Imam's headquarters from the mountain, where the last defenders were defending themselves.

In the end, Baryatinsky “exceeded” his promise – although Shamil surrendered not before, but after the storming of Gunib, his life was spared, and later, in fact, he was forgiven.

Alexander II assigned Shamil a pension of 10,000 silver rubles per year (later increased to 15,000 rubles).

And although Shamil and his family were under “constant and vigilant surveillance” at their place of residence, the emperor ordered that “they should not be shy.”

"I WAS STRUCK BY THE BEAUTY..."
Further on, Shamil's story is an acquaintance with Russia, which he had fought with all his life, but, in fact, did not know. There were audiences with Alexander II in Chuguev and St. Petersburg and the above-mentioned meeting with Baryatinsky in the Kursk estate.

But first there was a trip through the Russian provinces, during which Shamil experienced a real civilizational shock. Here is what he said in Kursk to Governor Nikolai Bibikov :

"When passing through Stavropol, I was struck by the beauty of the city and the decoration of the houses. It seemed impossible to me to create anything better, but, having arrived in Kharkov and Kursk, I completely changed my worldview and, judging by the structure of these cities, I can imagine what awaits me in the capital...".

The attitude towards the former enemy can be judged by the fact that in 1866 Shamil was a guest at the wedding of Tsarevich Alexander, the future Alexander III, and then met the Tsar-Liberator for the third time. Two years later, the Tsar, caring for the elderly imam, advised him to choose a place to live with a more suitable climate than Kaluga. Shamil chose Kiev, from where he set off on his final journey to Mecca.

The transformation of an enemy into an ally, who ordered his fellow countrymen and co-religionists to “be faithful to Russia,” according to eyewitnesses, was completely sincere.

Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown accepted donations from DEAD Ohio woman: report
[PostMillennial] The reelection campaign of Senator Sherrod I absolutely trust Hillary Brown
Dem senator from Ohio who harbored the same presidential ambitions as the rest of his colleagues. At a distance he was indistinguishable from most other Dem politicians, including the females. It can be said that he waned without waxing...
(D-OH) has been revealed to have accepted donations from a woman who had died months prior. The case has since been referred to the Federal Election Commission for an investigation.

Records obtained by the New York Post revealed that Toledo, Ohio resident Carol Ann Baker died in December of 2023. Despite this, the Friends of Sherrod Brown campaign committee in May received two campaign donations from Baker amounting to $350.

Frank LaRose, Ohio's Secretary of State, conducted a preliminary investigation and received a signed affidavit for Baker's widower confirming her death. Ohio's investigation into the matter was completed in August of 2024, and the case was referred to the FEC.

In the official FEC request, Huan Yi, the head of investigations at the Ohio Secretary of State's office, wrote, "Ohioans deserve absolute confidence in their elections." He added, "The purpose of this letter is to refer to your office potential violations of federal law for your investigation, as appropriate."

A front man for LaRose told the outlet, "Our office received a complaint identifying that the Friends of Sherrod Brown committee reported receiving two contributions from an individual that was confirmed to be deceased. But, as that committee is a federal entity and not a filer with our office, we referred the complaint and our findings to the Federal Elections Commission for further action."

An obituary for Baker described her as a dedicated trustee for Harris Township and volunteer, as well as a "loving pet parent."

21:35 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Pokrovsk-Kurakhovskoye direction: the offensive of Russian troops on Kurakhovo and the liberation of the northwestern outskirts of Krasnogorovka.

- In the Pokrovsk-Kurakhovskoye direction, Russian troops are gradually approaching Kurakhovo, a key transport hub of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this section of the front. Attack aircraft are fighting on the eastern outskirts of Ukrainsk and advancing towards Gornyak, bypassing the organized defense nodes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

– In the Novogrodovka area, Ukrainian formations are attempting to regain control of the southwestern outskirts of the city, including using heavy armored vehicles. Units of the 57th Brigade, partly consisting of former cadets, are being used for counterattacks.

– In Selidovo, the fighting has moved into a positional phase, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have managed to transfer a sufficient number of troops to the settlement to organize a stable defense. Russian units are fighting in the area of Gogolya and 8-go Sentyabrya streets, while no significant changes in the line of combat have been noted.

– Several days ago, information appeared in local residents’ chats about the advance of Russian Armed Forces attack aircraft towards the central city hospital. It is likely that Russian intelligence officers were indeed able to get very close to the territory of the medical facility, but then retreated. At the moment, the situation in this area of the city remains hidden by the “fog of war”.

– Over the past few days, Russian troops have managed to completely occupy Lesovka. Information about the liberation of Dolinovka, where the Russian flag was raised, has also been confirmed. Then, relying on the positions they had occupied, the Russian Armed Forces launched an offensive on Ukrainsk, seeking to bypass the enemy's defensive lines from the south and cut off supplies to the remaining Ukrainian Armed Forces units in the city.

Russian attack aircraft drove the enemy out of Karl Marx Street and consolidated their positions there, creating a bridgehead for the further liberation of the settlement.

- Some sources report that Russian troops have begun to storm Gornyak, the last settlement before Kurakhovka. However, it is not possible to confirm this information with objective control footage, while the testimonies of local residents are often confused and inaccurate.

– To the east, Russian troops launched a series of attacks in the direction of Zhelannyi Pervyi from Galitsynivka along Ivana Seredy Street, but their results remain unknown. Later, footage of Ukrainian troops landing on the southern outskirts of the village, where fighting continues, appeared online.

– The long information lull that had been in place at the “Krasnogorsk site” was finally broken. Footage appeared online showing the Russian flag on the building of the House of Culture in the private sector on the northwestern outskirts of the settlement

– this is where the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been holding positions for a long time, but their position had significantly worsened due to the successes of the Russian Armed Forces in neighboring areas.

- At the same time, it is also reported that the enemy remains present in this area, blocked in separate buildings and basements. Currently, Russian troops are clearing the private sector and eliminating pockets of resistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Also, Ukrainian formations retain the ability to defend the farm complex to the west of the private sector. It is entirely possible to organize the supply of this defense node using drones.

– To the south, fighting is underway in the Maksimilyanovka-Georgievka area, where Ukrainian formations are attempting to dislodge Russian units from their occupied positions.

18:53 Another target destroyed by a Lancet loitering munition in the border area of the Kursk region –video.

During reconnaissance activities in the border area of the Kursk region, servicemen of the "North" military group at night detected the movement of a truck with a towed howitzer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

After analyzing the received intelligence data, a decision was made to fire at the enemy's towed howitzer. As a result of a direct hit from a Lancet loitering munition, the howitzer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces militants was destroyed.

18:12 Sumy region.

15:39 A precise strike from the Lancet destroyed an enemy armored personnel carrier – video.

The footage shows the destruction of an armored personnel carrier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces by a Lancet loitering munition in the border area of the Kursk region.

An armored personnel carrier of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was detected by aerial reconnaissance of one of the units of the Pacific Fleet Naval Infantry Brigade of the North Force Group. The detected target was destroyed by a direct hit from a Lancet loitering munition.

14:56 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Artemovsk direction: a dash to the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal near Kleshcheyevka and fighting in the Oktyabrsky microdistrict in Chasov Yar.

– In the Artemovsk direction, Russian troops continue their offensive simultaneously in several sections of the front. After the relative stabilization of the contact line, the Russian Armed Forces significantly expanded the control zone both at Chasy Yar and Kleshcheyevka, which became possible, among other things, thanks to the transfer of Ukrainian units to the Kursk direction.

- In the Bogdanovka area, Russian troops advanced several kilometers in a westerly direction and consolidated their positions on the outskirts of Grigorovka. Taking this settlement will facilitate further advance and alignment of the front line along the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal.

– To the south, Russian troops have cleared the eastern part of Kalinovka (Kalinin), and have also consolidated their positions on its western outskirts, where fighting is currently underway. About 70% of the settlement is under the control of the Russian Armed Forces. Fierce fighting is underway for the village, since if it is liberated by Russian troops, the route to Chasov Yar from the north will be open.

– In Chasov Yar itself, fighting is taking place in the Oktyabrsky microdistrict, where Russian troops have established themselves on the first streets in the private sector, and recently captured a detachment of enemy fighters.

– To the southeast, assault units of the Russian Armed Forces have significantly expanded the zone of control in the vicinity of Kleshcheyevka. The strategically important height 215, which had been fought over for several months, has also come under the control of Russian troops. The large stronghold and the adjacent forest plantations are under the stable control of Russian troops.

– Yesterday, objective evidence of the presence of the Russian Armed Forces appeared directly on the territory of the Seversky Donets-Donbass Canal, almost three kilometers southwest of Height 215, which would have been impossible without holding the height. So far, the enemy has only captured a single fighter of the Russian troops, but the very fact of the advance is an important prerequisite for the future alignment of the front line along the canal on the Kurdyumovka-Andreyevka line.

14:15 More powerful landings in Pavlograd. They are applied strikes on the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

13:59 Russian Armed Forces advance near Peschanoye and Berestovoye –map.

13:17 Russian Aerospace Forces for the first time a Grom-1 missile was fired at a critical infrastructure facility in Ukraine.

It is known that Russia has two types of ammunition in this category: the Grom-1 guided missile and the Grom-2 precision-guided bomb. Unlike the Grom-1, which is equipped with a rocket engine and has a warhead weighing 315 kg, the Grom-2 does not have an engine, which allows the warhead weight to be increased to 480 kg.

The basis of the Grom-1 is the short-range multipurpose missile Kh-38. It can hit targets at a distance of up to 120 km, while the Grom-2 aerial bomb is effective at distances of up to 65 km.

12:50 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

– Russian troops have been striking enemy targets in various regions of the so-called Ukraine for 24 hours. In the village of Malekhove, a suburb of Lviv, several Geran UAVs destroyed a warehouse with trucks that could have been used for military purposes. It is ironic that local authorities reported a large-scale fire as a result of “the fall of downed drone debris.”

– In the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops launched a missile attack on a mechanical plant in Pavlograd. Local authorities, in their usual manner, announced the destruction of “civilian infrastructure” and 30 wounded.

According to some reports, a traction substation was also hit in the Sinelnykovsky district, but details of the attack are still lacking.

– A series of strikes were carried out on the suburbs of Kharkov. At least four explosions were heard in Lyubotin.

VP nominee Walz equivocates on Israel-Gaza
[MSN -NYPost] “I think first and foremost what we saw on October 7th was a horrific act of violence against the people of Israel. They have certainly, and the vice president said it, I've said it, have the right to defend themselves and the United States will always stand by that," Tim Walz began, before quickly adding, "but we can't allow what's happened in Gaza to happen."

Former Ukrainian Interior Minister Says Syrsky Will Be Dismissed
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Oleksandr Syrsky may be dismissed due to the failure in the Kursk region. This was stated on September 6 by the former head of the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko.

“Syrsky will still be held accountable; he will be fired for this anyway,” he suggested.

According to him, in August, the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, faced a choice: to negotiate with Russia or to stage an adventure on its territory.

"Of course, our showman chose the second option before Independence Day. Our "guarantor" never cared about what would happen next," Lutsenko added.

In his opinion, Zelensky now needs to “find a scapegoat” in a situation where the best of the remaining units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, along with their equipment, were sent to the Kursk region.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 6, Syrsky said that those called up to the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not undergo full training before being sent to the combat zone. He noted that the overall training period for military personnel before being sent to the front takes less than two months, of which only two weeks are allocated for specialized training.

On September 6, Deputy Chief of the Main Military-Political Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, commander of the Akhmat special forces, Major General Apti Alaudinov, said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are sending new units to the Kursk region every day and are suffering heavy losses. According to him, Ukrainian troops have recently begun to use both heavy equipment and drones less frequently, as they fear Russian weapons.

On September 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the provocation by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region was aimed at stopping the rapid advance of Russian troops in Donbass, but Kiev was unable to achieve this.

Ukrainian formations attacked the Kursk region on August 6. Russian military stopped them in the border areas, not allowing them to go deep into the territory of the Russian Federation. In total, during the fighting in the Kursk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 10.4 thousand soldiers.

IDF says troops will continue to operate in Jenin ‘until objectives are achieved’
[IsraelTimes] Despite Paleostinian media reporting that Israeli forces have withdrawn from Jenin, the IDF says that "troops are continuing with the operation until its objectives are achieved."

So far, the IDF says that in the past 10 days, it has killed 14 Paleostinian button men in Jenin, among them the commander of Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
in the city, and detained more than 30 wanted Paleostinians.

Four dronezaps have been carried out in Jenin amid the operation, and the IDF says over 30 bombs planted under roads in the city were also neutralized.

IDF says airstrike targets Hamas command center in Gaza school

City.

According to the military, Hamas was using the Halima al-Sadia School in Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood to plan and carry out attacks against troops and Israel.

Paleostinian media report several casualties in the strike.

To mitigate harm to civilians in the strike, the IDF says it carried out "many steps," including using precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

"The Hamas terror organization systematically violates international law, brutally exploiting civilian institutions and the population as a human shield for terror activity," the military adds.

In recent months, dozens of airstrikes have been carried out against Hamas sites embedded within schools and other sites used as shelters for civilians, according to the IDF.

Anti-Israel protesters removed from opening night of Toronto International Film Festival
They want to ruin everything.
[IsraelTimes] Anti-Israel protesters disrupt an opening night screening at the Toronto International Film Festival, chanting "Stop the genocide!" during opening remarks.

At the screening for the David Gordon Green comedy "Nutcrackers" Thursday night, four protesters walked down the center aisle of the Princess of Wales Theatre, carrying signs and flashlights while shouting criticism of festival sponsor Royal Bank of Canada.

"Cut ties with RBC," they yell.

Cameron Bailey, festival director, tries to maintain order, urging the protesters from the podium, "We are here to start the festival." Numerous crowd members boo the protesters.

The protest lasts for several minutes before the demonstrators are ushered out by security. Several attendees post videos online of the episode.

Among the films being screened at TIFF this year is "The Bibi Files," an American documentary about Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ongoing corruption trial.

Europe
Germany Boosts Gaza Aid And Tells Israel To Stop Provocation
We love our Jews, and will gladly protect them with the bodies of our German police, never questioning the outrageous expense, but they need to stop upsetting our consensus with that part of the world that matters: that helping those romantic Arabs who would kill them all is much more important than Jewish survival.
[Yahoo - DPA] Germany is to increase humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by €50 million ($55 million), Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced in Amman on Thursday, as she condemned Israeli attempts to further destabilize the Middle East.
No condemnation of the Arabs upsetting things by killing Jews, we note.
Baerbock, speaking at a meeting with Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi, said Germany has now pledged more than €360 million since last year to Gazans.

The focus of the latest aid push is combating hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition, along with the provision of health services during the Gaza conflict between Israel and Islamist rulers Hamas.

In addition, humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Jordan is to be increased by €12.7 million, raising German aid to Jordan to €63 million over the course of 2024.

According to the German Foreign Office, two convoys of 120 trucks per week travel from Jordan directly to the Gaza Strip via border crossings in the north of the Gaza Strip. Germany is to provide an additional €5 million to support this access.

Before travelling on to Israel as part of a two-day trip, Baerbock was to visit a warehouse operated by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), a non-governmental organization playing a key role in distributing Jordanian aid to the Gaza Strip.

The JHCO provides medical equipment, food, tents, household goods and clothing. It is supported by the German government with €4 million for the purchase of trucks, fuel and vehicle maintenance.

'IRRESPONSIBLE' ACTIONS BY PARTS OF ISRAELI GOVERNMENT
Baerbock's trip to Israel could be frosty after she called on parts of the Israeli government to stop fuelling religious tensions amid the war in Gaza.

"We firmly reject any attempts to shake up the existing status quo of the holy sites in Jerusalem," the Green politician said.

Actions of individual Israeli ministers, such as the visit of the far-right police minister Itamar Ben-Gvir to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, "are irresponsible and are already fuelling an absolutely explosive situation. We expect the Israeli side to stop this provocation," Baerbock added.

The Temple Mount, which includes the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is the third holiest site in Islam and is under Muslim rule. However, it is also sacred to Israeli Jews because two Jewish temples used to stand there.

Baerbock said that the recent outbreak of violence in the Palestinian West Bank, on the other side of Israel from Gaza, was causing the German government great concern.

"Israel is the occupying power in the West Bank and is obliged under the Geneva Convention to uphold law and order rather than jeopardize it," she said.

"This explicitly includes protecting the population from attacks by violent, radical settlers."

JORDANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER SLAMS NETANYAHU
Israel has the right to combat terrorism, she said, "but you don't fight terror by tearing up roads, destroying water pipes and electricity grids or even blocking access to hospitals."

Jordanian Foreign Minister Al-Safadi called on the German government to impose sanctions on Israel.

"After more than 10 months of aggression (in Gaza), (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu will obviously listen neither to the UN Security Council nor to the advice of his friends in the West," said Al-Safadi.

Netanyahu will continue if he is not threatened with consequences for his actions, he said.

The Gaza war, in which over 40,000 Palestinians have reportedly died, was sparked by Hamas launching a terrorist attack on Israeli soil on October 7 which killed over 1,200.

Baerbock arrived in Saudi Arabia for talks earlier on Thursday, before travelling on to Jordan.

Poltava rocket artillery strike aftermath: 500 specialists were killed in the strike in Poltava
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] About 500 military specialists, including mercenaries from Poland, France, Germany and Sweden, were killed and wounded on September 3 as a result of a missile strike by the Russian Armed Forces on the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center in Poltava. This was reported to journalists by a high-ranking military source.

“[A] group missile strike by the Iskander-M OTRK was launched against the 179th Joint Training Center of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Signal Corps in Poltava,” TASS quoted the source as saying on September 6.

He specified that foreigners trained Ukrainian military personnel at the center. Also, during the attack, there were many dead and wounded among Ukrainian communications specialists, as well as operators of electronic warfare, electronic intelligence, and drones.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Russian Armed Forces struck the Ukrainian Armed Forces training center in Poltava on September 3. A Ukrainian blogger reported that after this, more than 760 bodies were delivered to the city morgue.

Ukrainian military expert Dmitry Snegiryov called the attack on the Poltava military center a disaster, since specialists valued at the front "worth their weight in gold" were trained there. According to him, the military facility was attacked when the personnel went out to form up.

Removed herself from the gene pool — and very neatly, too. So there’s that.
[IsraelTimes] Army probing circumstances of 26-year-old’s death near Nablus; 13-year-old reportedly shot inside her room as extremist Israelis enter town, clash with locals

The slain woman was named as Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, 26, an American originally from Turkey. She was reportedly an activist with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).
An American woman was shot and killed by IDF troops during a protest near Nablus in the northern West Bank on Friday, two doctors told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named.

Separately, a 13-year-old Paleostinian girl was reported rubbed out when bully boy settlers stormed a village near Nablus and clashed with villagers.

In the first case, witnesses and Paleostinian media reported that the woman was shot by Israeli troops while attending a pro-Paleostinian demonstration against settlement expansion in the Paleostinian town of Beita, southeast of Nablus.

Dr. Ward Basalat said the 26-year-old woman was shot in the head and died after arriving at a hospital. Dr. Fouad Naffa, the head of the hospital, also confirmed the death of an American citizen.

. She was reportedly an activist with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).
ISM is a leftwing Palestinian “peace movement” founded shortly before 9/11 with funding from the Holy Land Trust that uses international activists as human shields to protect Palestinian terrorists and provide propaganda for the Palestinian cause. Cf. Rachel Corrie, a.k.a. St. Pancake.
The Israeli military said it was investigating the matter.

Protests happen regularly and have grown violent mostly peaceful in the past. A month ago, American citizen Amado Sison was shot in the leg by Israeli forces, he said, as he tried to flee tear gas and live fire.

According to the IDF, during operations near the town of Beita close to Nablus, troops shot up a "main instigator" who was hurling stones at the forces and had "posed a threat."

"A claim that a foreign citizen was killed by gunfire in the area is being investigated. The details of the incident and the circumstances of her being hit are under investigation," the IDF added.
If you deliberately walk across the highway during rush hour, you don’t get to complain about being hit by cars.

What about the poor Israeli soldiers, traumatized by Ms Eygi’s successful suicide-by-IDF? Has his excellency, the American secretary of state, no sympathy for his plight?
Asked if the United States would take action against Israel, Blinken said: "First things first — let’s find out exactly what happened and we will draw the necessary conclusions and consequences from that.

"When we have more info, we will share it, make it available and, as necessary, we’ll act on it," he said. "I have no higher priority than the safety and protection of American citizens wherever they are."
”Mr. Secretary! Mr. Secretary! Do you know the history of the International Solidarity Movement? Or are you trying to protect Vice President Kamala Harris’s chances with the anti-Israel vote?”
Turkey also condemned the "murder committed by the Netanyahu government."

"Israel is trying to intimidate all those who come to the aid of the Paleostinian people and who fight peacefully against the genocide.
Just to clarify: when the Jews are genocided, 6 million of them are murdered and their bodies turned into soap and mattress stuffing in an attempt to wipe the entire population off the face of the earth. When Palestinians are genocided, their population goes up from 1 million in 1948 to 4 million today, while the IDF pauses a war to get polio vaccines and chef-made prepared meals to the civilian population Boy, those dumb Israelis really do not understand how its’s done...
This policy of violence will not work," a statement from the Foreign Ministry said, accusing Israel of "crimes against humanity."

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact...
Paleostinian media reported that a 13-year-old was killed after being shot by Israeli forces near Nablus amid a clash between bully boy settlers and local villagers.

She was evacuated at death's door from the village of Qaryut to a hospital in Nablus, according to the PA official news agency Wafa, where doctors pronounced her death.

According to the report, Bana Amjad Bakr was shot while in her room at her home in Qaryut.

The Yesh Din rights group said the incident began when dozens of settlers, allegedly guarded by Israeli soldiers, stormed the West Bank village and lit fires in the area. The shots that killed Bakr were fired during festivities that ensued between the settlers and Paleostinian villagers.

Earlier Friday, Kan reported that a car was set alight overnight and the word “Dire Revenge" graffitied in Hebrew along with a Star of David in the West Bank village of Khirbet Abu Falah, near Ramallah.

Arrests of perpetrators in such so-called "price tag attacks" on Paleostinians by settlers are exceedingly rare and rights groups lament that convictions are even more unusual, with the majority of charges in such cases being dropped.

In Jenin, Paleostinian media reported earlier that Israeli troops had withdrawn from the West Bank city following a 10-day operation. The Paleostinian Authority’s official Wafa news agency said the troops pulled out of the city at dawn. However,

The IDF has been carrying out a major operation in the northern West Bank since August 28. The operation — internally dubbed "Summer Camps" by the army — began with simultaneous raids on Jenin, Tulkarem and the Far’a camp near Tubas, with the goal of dismantling Iran-backed Hamas

terror networks in the three areas of the northern West Bank.

So far, according to the IDF, more than 36 button men have been killed in the operation, among them the head of Hamas in Jenin and the head of Islamic Jihad in the Tulkarem area. Another 46 wanted Paleostinians have been detained.

Violence in the West Bank has surged in the past year, following the October 7 Hamas terror onslaught in southern Israel, in which some 1,200 people were massacred and 251 were taken hostage.

Since that date, Israeli troops have arrested some 5,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,000 affiliated with Hamas.

According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 670 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or turbans carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 29 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another six members of the security forces have been killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Shabbos Kestenbaum, high-profile campus antisemitism critic, endorses Trump at Republican Jewish Coalition convention
[IsraelTimes] Plaintiff in Harvard discrimination suit, a former Bernie Sanders supporter, says Democrats won’t do enough to protect Jewish students

Shabbos Kestenbaum, a Jewish Harvard alumnus who is suing the school over its response to antisemitism, announced on Thursday that he has broken with the Democratic Party and will be voting for Donald Trump
...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US...
Kestenbaum made the declaration during a speech at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual convention, saying that he had become disillusioned with Democratic leaders and their policies during his push for action against campus antisemitism.

"I did not support Trump in 2016, I did not support Trump in 2020. Hell, I did not support Trump six months ago. Nobody’s perfect," said Kestenbaum, a registered Democrat.

"The Democratic party has taken the Jewish vote and Jewish voters for granted for far too long," he said. "I will be supporting, I will be endorsing, I will be voting for President Trump."

Kestenbaum’s party switch isn’t a complete surprise: He addressed the Republican National Convention in July, an experience, he told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency at the time, that felt "lonely" but that was warmly received by the crowd. In that speech, he talked about his vote in November — but did not specify which candidate he would support.

"Let’s elect a president who will instill patriotism in our schools once again," he said from the convention podium. "Let’s elect a president who will confront terrorism and its supporters once again."

The next month, he attended but did not speak at the Democratic convention, an experience he also portrayed positively on the social network X, where he posted a photo of a button reading, "I’m a pro-Israel Democrat."

He also posted a video of the crowd applauding the parents of Hersh Goldberg-Polin, who was taken hostage by Hamas
..always the voice of sweet reason...
on October 7. In 2016, he attended the Democratic convention as a supporter of Bernie Sanders

...The only first openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords. He ran for the 2016 nomination for president, to be cheated out of it by Hillary Clinton, then went back to being an Independent socialist, waiting for 2020 to roll around...
"Let me also add that as a visibly Jewish person crying as I was recording this, numerous delegates came up to me after, saying they stand with the Jewish people," he wrote from the Democratic convention on August 21. "I have had serious disillusionments with Dems, but am confident we can one day restore the soul of our party together."

Two weeks later, he was onstage at the RJC confab, speaking alongside two other Democratic voters who have switched their party allegiance. He said Republicans had been more responsive to his efforts in combating antisemitism.

Republican leaders such as House Speaker Mike Johnson and the chairman of the House Boodle Central, Rep. Jason Smith, had actively sought out Kestenbaum and other Jewish students, he said, adding that Democratic party leaders have not done the same.

He also lashed Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...

Bowman told reporters he thought it was a doorknob or something. Capitol Police released a statement saying they were investigating the fire alarm incident, and maybe a few rubes somewhere expected something to come of it. Republicans introduced a motion to expel Bowman from the House but that evaporated too. Bowman issued a statement saying they were Nazis. Bowman is a member of The Squad, a faction of like-minded subversives...
, members of the hardline left-wing "Squad," for supporting anti-Israel campus protesters, and mentioned other instances in which he felt Democratic officials hadn’t taken campus antisemitism seriously enough. He feels the Democratic Party has also not articulated policies for protecting Jewish students.

"The Trump campaign invited me and other college students to sit, front row, as President Trump not only condemned antisemitism but clearly articulated the policies he would implement to combat it," Kestenbaum said. "The Harris campaign delivered no such promises."

In his speech, Kestenbaum advocated for measures including deporting non-American students "who abuse the foreign visa system," echoing the 2024 Republican platform, which called for "revoking Visas of Foreign Nationals who support terrorism and jihadism."

He also called for withholding federal funding from universities that violate the civil rights of students, including Jews, and for taking a stance against Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs.

"These common-sense, once bipartisan policies are not a hallmark of the Harris campaign. They are not featured on any campaign platform," Kestenbaum said.

He said that he had initially refrained from condemning Democrats, instead trying to change the party from within. He was disappointed with party leaders’ statements at the Democratic convention about anti-Israel protests and campus policies, but said he will still support his Democratic congressman, pro-Israel stalwart Ritchie Torres, and backs other Democratic policies including minimum wage legislation and pro-environmental measures.

"I wanted to show my party, the Democratic party, that they could and they should support Jewish students, however, elections are binary choices," Kestenbaum said. "For the first time since I started voting, I cannot support the Democratic nominee for president."

He added, "I did not abandon the Democratic party. The Democratic party abandoned me."

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russian special military operation as a hybrid war
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the Telegram channel of @neinsider

[ColonelCassad] In the West, the Special Military Operation is considered a hybrid war…

Currently, Western experts assess the course of the SVO as the implementation of the concept of Russia's "hybrid war", which includes a calculated combination of military power, cyber operations, information and psychological operations and economic manipulation.

Russia's multifaceted approach, supported by China, Iran and North Korea, is aimed not only at defeating the Ukrainian Armed Forces as such, but also at exerting a broader influence on the global geopolitical landscape.

The so-called Russian "hybrid war", according to experts, is manifested at all levels:

Tactical level. Russia's immediate goals are to undermine the enemy's defenses, various cyber attacks on critical infrastructure, information and psychological operations and disinformation operations to confuse and demoralize both the Ukrainian military and the civilian population. Such tactics are aimed at creating chaos, reducing the operational effectiveness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and undermining public trust in the Ukrainian government.

Operational level. Russia uses a combination of conventional warfare, cyber operations, and manipulation of energy supplies to pressure Ukraine and its allies. By maintaining a persistent military presence and periodically escalating hostilities, Russia seeks to keep Ukraine in a state of perpetual instability. Cyberwarfare tactics, such as disruption of communications networks and infrastructure, are designed to undermine Ukraine’s ability to respond effectively.

Strategic Level: Strategically, Russia seeks to reassert its influence in the post-Soviet space and weaken the NATO alliance. By partnering with China, Iran, and North Korea, Russia strengthens its position against the West by leveraging each ally’s strengths: China’s economic might and cyber capabilities, Iran’s experience in proxy warfare, and North Korea’s willingness to engage in subversion. Together, this alliance poses a multifaceted threat to the collective West, seeking to fracture the alliance and advance an anti-Western narrative around the world.

To counter this threat (as they have defined it), Western theorists have yet to come up with a clear and unified approach. They basically offer nothing new, repeating the old mantra: strengthen the cyber defense of the alliance member countries, continue sanctions pressure, increase support for Ukraine, organize a strategic counter to Russian propaganda, and increase NATO's combat readiness. In general, everything they are doing now.

In addition, the West believes that their democracies are very vulnerable to Russian hybrid actions, but in general the West can resist, if united into one whole, in the face of a global threat, and Russia understands only power and strength and treats with complete disdain those who waver in front of it.

P.S. The manuals are apparently old: "Red threat", "Comrade!", "The hand of the Kremlin", etc.

Iraq
US and Iraq reach agreement on withdrawal of American troops
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The United States and Iraq have reached an agreement on plans to withdraw coalition forces from the country. American troops are expected to begin leaving the Ain al-Asad base in September 2025, Reuters reported on September 6.

"The plan, which has been broadly agreed upon but requires final agreement from both countries, calls for hundreds of troops to be withdrawn by September 2025 and the rest by the end of 2026," the agency wrote, citing sources.

The first phase of the troop withdrawal is planned to be completed a month before the parliamentary elections in Iraq, scheduled for October 2025.

The official announcement of the agreement was delayed due to the escalation in the Middle East.

The information was confirmed on condition of anonymity by five American officials, two officials from other coalition countries (Germany, France, Spain, Italy) and three sources in Iraq.

Separately, a senior US official said the US and Iraq are also seeking to establish a new consultative relationship that would allow some US troops to remain in Iraq.

As reported by Regnum, the Ain al-Asad airbase was attacked by missiles in late July. Sources said two missiles hit the perimeter of the base, but the airbase itself was not damaged. No casualties or injuries were reported.

The airbase is located in the al-Anbar Governorate in western Iraq. It was originally known as Qadisiyah Air Base. It was the second largest US military airbase in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003–2011).

18 U.S. Code § 241 - Conspiracy Against Civil Rights. Whom would you indict?
QUESTION OF THE DAY
Given the massive well documented DC Swamp Civil Rights violations, of select citizens. Plus, the flaunted abuse of the US Justice System for political reasons, these past 3+ years.

If you were the DOJ AG, what names would you seek to indict and what for?
Posted by: NN2N1 || 09/07/2024 00:00 || Comments || Link || E-Mail|| [11163 views] Top|| File under: Tin Hat Dictators, Presidents for Life, & Kleptocrats

#1  The only problem is that DoJ is technically the enforcer and will not act against anyone who is a member of the party. The entire Civil Rights division should be converted to prosecuting this violation. You'll only need to get a few heads for some attitude adjustment.

#2  Let's not forget 242:

Section 242 of Title 18 makes it a crime for a person acting under color of any law to willfully deprive a person of a right or privilege protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States.
For the purpose of Section 242, acts under "color of law" include acts not only done by federal, state, or local officials within their lawful authority, but also acts done beyond the bounds of that official's lawful authority, if the acts are done while the official is purporting to or pretending to act in the performance of his/her official duties. Persons acting under color of law within the meaning of this statute include police officers, prisons guards and other law enforcement officials, as well as judges, care providers in public health facilities, and others who are acting as public officials. It is not necessary that the crime be motivated by animus toward the race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of the victim.

The offense is punishable by a range of imprisonment up to a life term, or the death penalty, depending upon the circumstances of the crime, and the resulting injury, if any.

#3  Consider the act of Nonfeasance-"Nonfeasance is the failure to act or do something that one is obligated to do."

The massive increase in the selective use of "prosecutorial discretion" by law enforcement at federal, state and even local levels officials is actually willful nonfeasance by those obligated to enforce the law uniformly and fully. This widespread tactic at both DOJ and local District Attorneys has been used to elect favor from political allies and conversely, punish vigorously theor political enemies. The cases of Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro vs. Eric Holder are a perfect example.

Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry: Taliban removed from list of banned organizations
Direct Translation via Googler Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) in Kyrgyzstan has been excluded from the list of banned organizations, the republic’s Foreign Ministry reported on September 6.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic confirms that after careful consideration and comprehensive assessment by the competent state bodies of the country, a decision was made to exclude the Taliban movement from the list of banned organizations on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the department reported.

The Ministry stressed that it supports the efforts of the international community to ensure a stable and peaceful environment in Asia, including Afghanistan.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on May 27, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice reported to President Vladimir Putin that the Taliban movement could be excluded from the list of terrorist organizations.

On July 3, Kazakhstan removed the Taliban from the list of terrorist organizations. As the president of the republic, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, noted, this will allow for the development of economic cooperation with Afghanistan, where the Taliban have been in power since 2021.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan published an updated register of banned organizations on September 2. The Taliban was not on the list. The republic's authorities have not yet published an official announcement.

Kremlin has assessed Bishkek's decision to exclude the Taliban from the list of terrorists

Russia understands Kyrgyzstan's decision to remove the Taliban movement (the organization is under UN sanctions for terrorist activities) from the list of terrorist organizations. This was stated at a briefing on September 6 by the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.

The Kremlin representative recalled that Kyrgyzstan is very, very close geographically to Afghanistan, and the Taliban is the de facto power in Kabul.

"It is very important for neighbors to build relationships with the de facto authorities. This is necessary, without this it is impossible to build any contacts," Peskov explained.

He added that Moscow understands this situation.

On September 2, the Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan published an updated register of organizations banned in the republic, which did not include the Taliban. A representative of the Kyrgyz State Commission on Religious Affairs did not explain the reasons for this decision, but confirmed that the prosecutor's office could have followed the example of neighboring Kazakhstan, where the Taliban were no longer considered terrorists back in early June.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 3, Kazakhstan removed the Taliban movement from the terrorist list in order to develop economic cooperation with Afghanistan. As the country's president, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, explained, one of the strategic tasks at the present stage is the active involvement of Afghanistan in interregional relations.

On May 27, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Justice reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Taliban movement could be removed from the list of terrorists. Zamir Kabulov, the Russian President's Special Representative for Afghanistan and the head of the Second Asian Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that recognition of the Taliban was much closer than when they came to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

The Russian leader said on May 28 that the status of the Taliban movement is constantly being discussed. Putin added that Russia takes into account the opinion of each country in the region on the issue of recognizing the Taliban. The decision, according to the head of state, will be worked out together.

Kremlin calls the new US charges and sanctions an attempt to put pressure on Russia
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] New US accusations and sanctions against Russia are an attempt to put pressure on Moscow and the Russians. This was stated at a briefing on September 6 by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, in this way the American side continues its attempts to put pressure on Russia, Russians and even on Russian media, which are engaged in informing their own citizens and the world community about what is happening in the world from the Russian point of view.

"Washington does not even allow the possibility that the supply [of information] from our corner would be accessible to anyone. This is nothing other than naked pressure, an attempt to suppress the Russian Federation, to continue this line. We strongly condemn this line, it is unacceptable," he said.

The Kremlin representative added that Moscow is aware of the reality in which it exists, and therefore will act based on its own interests.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 4, the US Treasury Department announced the introduction of sanctions against the RT TV channel and its editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, the Rossiya Segodnya media group, RIA Novosti, and Sputnik. It was specified that Washington would add these Russian media outlets to the list of foreign missions and would take steps to introduce visa restrictions.

The next day, September 5, Washington indicted political scientist Dimitri Simes and his wife, Anastasia, for “sanctions violations.” They were also accused of conspiring to launder money.

Later on September 5, the US imposed sanctions on two Indian shipping companies and two of their vessels, suspecting them of being linked to Russia's Novatek's Arctic LNG 2 project. The sanctions also affect two of the companies' liquefied natural gas tankers, New Energy and Mulan.

On the same day, US authorities brought charges against six Russians for alleged cyberattacks against Ukraine. The US Justice Department said that these individuals could have attacked government systems of NATO countries.

On September 5, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that the US had outdone itself in new sanctions against Russian media. According to her, something surprising happened this time: even the American authorities were unable to fully announce the measures that had been taken.”

Peskov calls accusations of Russian interference in US elections nonsense

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov called the US accusations against the Russian Federation regarding alleged interference in the American elections nonsense.

"This is not the first time that Russia has been accused of interfering in American elections. Of course, this is nonsense. We do not interfere," he said in response to questions from The Washington Post.

Earlier in the day, on September 6, a Kremlin spokesman called the new US charges and sanctions an attempt to put pressure on Russia. According to him, the US side continues to try to put pressure on Russians and Russian media outlets that inform citizens and the world community about what is happening in the world from the Russian point of view.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on September 5 that the Kremlin's favorite in the US presidential election was the incumbent head of state Joe Biden, but after the latter's withdrawal from the race, Moscow will support the Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris. The Russian leader noted that one of her positive qualities is her infectious laughter. However, Putin added that the American people will choose the US president, and Russia will respect the choice.

Following Putin's remarks about the American elections, the White House issued a statement that the American people would determine the future president of the United States.

French politician, leader of the Patriots party Florian Philippot expressed the opinion on September 5 that the United States is accusing Russia because of the high chances of Republican candidate Donald Trump to win the US presidential election. He also called the accusations against the Russian Federation unthinkable. The politician recalled that something similar had already happened in 2016, although since then all accusations have been officially refuted.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
‘Government of blood’: anti-Bibi protesters stage mock funeral for slain hostages, demand deal
[IsraelTimes] Thousands march to IDF HQ in Tel Aviv, carrying 27 coffins to represent captives killed by Hamas, on fifth straight night of protests after six hostages were murdered in Gaza
Just thousands? They’re losing their audience. Also, why aren’t they protesting Hamas, who are the ones who committed the murders… and who took the hostages in the first place.
Thousands of protesters marched through Tel Aviv on Thursday, carrying 27 mock coffins representing 27 hostages killed in Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
captivity in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, demanding a deal to secure the remaining hostages’ release. Significant crowds also gathered in Rehovot, Eilat and Jerusalem.

It was the fifth straight night of demonstrations, following the recovery last Saturday of the bodies of six Israeli hostages. They had been murdered days before Israeli troops reached them, almost 11 months after they’d been kidnapped from Israel during Hamas’s October 7 attack.
Next week the same leftwing protesters will be shouting about some other reason Bibi needs to resign.
News of the hostages’ execution sparked outrage in Israel, and drew charges that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been refusing to pursue negotiations with Hamas in earnest, avoiding concessions that might have allowed the Israelis to come home alive but would have endangered his ruling coalition.

As protesters in Tel Aviv gathered at Habima Square ahead of the march, Gil Dickmann, whose cousin Carmel Gat was one of the six slain hostages, accused Netanyahu of "sentencing my cousin to death."

Some members of the crowd shouted: "Murderer!"

"She was abandoned to her death by a government that could have saved her," Dickmann said, noting the number of days Gat was held captive. "There were 327 opportunities to save her, and each and every one of them was missed."
Philosophy question: is it better to lie in support of the vicious for fleeting political advantage, or to be a blindered idiot dupe of the liars?
The hostage families and supporters, carrying the caskets, held a mock funeral procession along Begin Street, in the direction of the Begin-Kaplan intersection, in front of the IDF headquarters.

The Tel Aviv thoroughfare has been a locus of demonstrations for a hostage deal and has been blocked by protesters every night since the slain hostages’ bodies were recovered last weekend.

When the 27 coffins arrived at the intersection, the protest began in earnest, swelling to some 2,000 people, who rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud against the government and in favor of a deal.

"We are all hostages of the government of blood!" protesters yelled. "A deal that isn’t signed murders everyone!"

"If there isn’t a deal, we’ll burn down the country — this is the last chance!" the crowd chanted.

A bonfire was lit on Begin Street but quickly put out by police. On one side of the crowd, the road was graffitied with the names of hostages. On the other side, cardboard planks spelled out: "Here lie our hostages."

Inside the crowd, a man in Hasidic garb drew attention and applause as he delivered a philippic against Netanyahu.

"Redeeming the hostages is the entire Torah!" he shouted into a megaphone.
Clearly one of those who pretended to study in order to avoid military service… or pretending to be.Either way, he’s wrong about the Torah.
Police arrested six people at the demonstration, according to an organization that represents detained protesters. There was no immediate comment from police.

As the protest wound down, police on horseback rebuffed some 100 protesters who attempted to march outside the demonstration area on Begin Street.

Central Tel Aviv police chief Micah Gafni was seen pushing one protester out of the crowd and snatching his megaphone. A column of officers later marched into the crowd and confiscated a protester’s drum, eliciting sarcastic applause.

Meanwhile,
...back at the pond, the enormous newt was trying to decide if Gloria was edible...
in Jerusalem, protesters gathered near the homes of Economy Minister Nir Barkat, Knesset Member Aryeh Deri, and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, as well as in the city’s central Zion Square.

In Rehovot, protesters marched behind a banner showing the faces of the six slain hostages recovered last week beside the biblical injunction, "Do not stand idly by your fellow’s blood."

Netanyahu held a discussion on Thursday night, believed to be about ways of retaliating against Hamas for the murder of the six hostages. Channel 13 reported, however, that military officials were expected to tell Netanyahu that taking punitive action would be difficult and that any move seen as aimed at Dire Revenge could hurt talks for a hostage-ceasefire deal and thus further endanger the lives of remaining hostages.

Both Israel and Hamas have reportedly toughened their negotiating positions since the killings, while the United States continues to attempt to bridge the divide. American officials said they would produce a "final proposal" for a deal in the near future, possibly as soon as next week.

Talks have been snagged for weeks on the issue of the Philadelphi Corridor, a strip of land along the Gaza-Egypt border, with Israel insisting on maintaining a military presence there to prevent arms smuggling, and Hamas and Egypt insisting on an Israeli withdrawal.

Film about the expulsion of Georgians from Russia returns to the Venice Film Festival program
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[KavkazUzel] A court in Venice has lifted a ban on the screening of the film Antiques, about the mass expulsion of Georgians from Russia in 2006, in the competition program of the film festival. Director Rusudan Glurjidze said that Russia tried to prevent filming and confiscate the footage.

As the "Caucasian Knot" reported, on September 27, 2006, the Georgian authorities detained five Russian servicemen (GRU officers). One of them was soon released, four were charged with espionage against Georgia. After that,  raids began to identify Georgians, including in schools. In just one week, from October 5, 2006, Moscow courts issued decisions on the administrative expulsion of 598 Georgian citizens.

One of the Georgian citizens died during deportation at Domodedovo Airport, and many complained about the conditions of detention. Among those deported (administratively expelled) during the anti-Georgian campaign were many people who had all their documents in order, visas, and residence permits. Often, a Georgian surname was enough for expulsion, the "Civic Assistance" Committee* noted at the time.

According to the Georgian border services, from July to September 2006, over 260 Georgian citizens were expelled from Russia, and from October 2006 to January 2007, their number was 2,920 people. The Russian side claims that there was no mass deportation, a court decision was made for each immigrant, and only those who violated Russian migration legislation were expelled.

The Georgian authorities filed a lawsuit against Russia with the ECHR on March 26, 2007. On July 3, 2014, the court in Strasbourg recognized Russia's violation of a number of provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights. On July 3, 2015, Georgia demanded 70.32 million euros from Russia. On January 31, 2019, the ECHR awarded 1,500 Georgian citizens 10-15 thousand euros in compensation . The total amount of compensation was 10 million euros.

The court suspended the decision that blocked the screening of the film "Antiques" by Georgian director Rusudan Glurjidze at the Venice Film Festival. The film was returned to the Giornate degli Autori ("Author's Days") competition of the independent section of the film forum, the publication "News Georgia" reported today.

"Antiques" is a feature film based on real events. The film tells the story of the mass illegal deportation of Georgians from Russia in 2006. Glurdzhidze spoke about the great difficulties their team faced while working on the film and the direct interference of the Russian authorities, the publication says.

According to Glurjidze, "the Russian Ministry of Culture demanded that several scenes be removed." "The Georgian team refused, which led to attempts to obstruct the filming and, ultimately, to the confiscation of the footage at the border," she said. "Luckily, two copies were saved. After that, the film began to be blocked," she told ScreenDaily on August 28.

A representative of the Venice Film Festival competition committee is satisfied with the court's decision. "The Venice court upheld our claim and, obviously, allowed the film to be shown, recognizing the rights of the director. Thus, we can say that justice has been restored in relation to cinematography, the creative individuals involved, the Georgian director and the film itself. First of all, a precedent has been set for the Venice Film Festival, which will benefit future filmmakers around the world," Screen International magazine quoted the head of the competition, Italian director Francesco Ranieri Martinotti, as saying.

The reason for the suspension of the screening was the ruling of the Venice court to take action against the Georgian company Cinetech, which brought the film " Antique" to the festival. The decision was made on the basis of a statement by the Croatian and Cypriot producers of " Antique". It states that Cinetech Ltd. (Georgia) illegally exercises control over the film and is trying to show it at the Venice Film Festival without the necessary permissions and rights, the publication proficinema reported.

Russian screenwriter Oleg Negin said that he worked on the film, but had not seen "a single frame" and relations with Georgian producers had deteriorated, after which he asked to remove his name from the credits. "Now the film is being presented scandalously, as a near-political event." "For my part, I can say that I worked on creating an adventurous romantic story, packaged in the format of a socially acute drama (with elements of black comedy), which had nothing to do with current politics, no matter what anyone says," his words are quoted in the publication.

On the website kinopoisk.ru, the film, shot in St. Petersburg, is dated 2022. The countries of origin are listed as Russia, Georgia, Cyprus and Croatia. The description of the film does not mention the expulsion of Georgians from Russia. "A young Georgian named Lado is engaged in smuggling antique furniture from Georgia to Russia. Two women are waiting for him in St. Petersburg. The owner of an antique warehouse Manana and Medea, Lado's girlfriend, who is tired of his immaturity. Medea, who recently sold her house in Georgia, goes to look at an apartment in the historical center of St. Petersburg. The price of the apartment is very low, but it is sold only together with its owner, an old man named Vadim. Medea agrees to the deal," the description says.

2004: Novaya Gazeta Releases Details of Tank Shooting at School in Beslan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Sometimes the Russians are their own worst enemy.

[KavkazUzel] The crews of four tanks deployed to the school building in Beslan were ordered to fire on the building when hostages were inside, according to materials from interrogations of servicemen and hostages published by Novaya Gazeta.

As "Kavkazsky Uzel" wrote, on the twentieth anniversary of the terrorist attack in Beslan, the cultural and patriotic center for the prevention of terrorism "Beslan School No. 1" was opened. The school grounds  had to be preserved, says Emma Tagaeva. The center will become international and is necessary to preserve the memory of the terrorist attack, says Atsamaz Misikov.

The project took three years to implement, and 206.1 million rubles were allocated for the creation of the center. Twenty years later, the authorities have still not given a concrete answer as to how terrorists managed to organize the 2004 seizure of a school in Beslan, which resulted in the deaths of more than three hundred people, North Ossetian journalists noted.

On September 1, 2004, militants took 1,128 hostages in the gymnasium of School No. 1 in Beslan. The operation to free them ended on September 3, 2004. As a result of the terrorist attack, 334 people were killed, including 186 children, and another 810 people were injured. The "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "Terrorist attack in Beslan (September 1-3, 2004)" and  a chronicle of the terrorist attack  and the events that followed.
The Beslan attack was a project of Shamil Basayev, head of the Chechen insurgency (which at that time called itself the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, renamed two years later as Al Qaeda’s Caucasus Emirate), financed by Abu Omar Al Seif, who was Al Qaeda’s man in Chechnya. It is said that the money he brought came from the Saudis, and that the jihadis involved in the attack on Beslan School Number One, some of whom were Arabs, were trained in al Qaeda camps.
On the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack in Beslan, Novaya Gazeta published materials from the criminal case that Russia submitted to the ECHR. In particular, journalist Elena Milashina's publication "Tanks in Beslan" states that FSB representatives gave orders to conscripts to shoot at the school from tanks.

As follows from the interrogation protocols of the Chief of Staff, Head of the UFSB of North Ossetia Valery Andreyev, the Chief of the FSB Special Operations Center, General Alexander Tikhonov, reported that on September 2 he asked the command of the 58th Army to provide tanks to the Alpha and Vympel special forces to conduct the operation to rescue the hostages. The Commander of the 58th Army, Viktor Sobol, who was also part of the operational headquarters, gave the order to bring tanks into Beslan.

At 18:00 on September 2, exactly one hour after the former President of Ingushetia, General Ruslan Aushev, led 26 hostages out of the school seized by terrorists and managed to convince the militants to continue negotiations and allow the bodies of the dead hostages to be taken away, tanks entered Beslan and stopped near a transformer substation next to a railroad crossing, three hundred meters from the school seized by terrorists.

The hostages stood in the windows and waved white rags

The first shot from the tank was fired on September 3 at 14:25 Moscow time. At the same time, conscript Dmitry Godovalov, who commanded tank #328, said that the tank crews, who were in their combat vehicles, could clearly see the hostages through the viewing slits and triplex on the windows of the canteen. "The hostages were standing in the windows and waving white rags," he said during interrogation.

"This cafeteria became a real trap for the hostages. The fact is that in the entire first school, only the cafeteria windows had bars installed. Moreover, the bars were installed not on the outside of the windows, as is usually the case, but on the inside of the building. This fact is clearly recorded in numerous photographs of the cafeteria destroyed during the assault, including such photos in the materials of the criminal case. These bars became the main obstacle for the operational combat groups "Alpha" and "Vympel" deployed from Kominterna Street, because they did not allow the special forces to get inside the school. The headquarters tried to develop a scenario for the assault with a minimum number of casualties among both the hostages and the special forces - General Tikhonov spoke about this at a meeting of the parliamentary commission, in addition, this point is reflected in the situational examination. The bars on the cafeteria windows could have become a determining factor in the decision to use tanks. Because the internal fastening of the bars did not allow them to be knocked down or torn out using heavy equipment," writes Milashina.

At 14.25, one of the tanks fired directly at the window of the canteen, where the terrorists had placed their hostages as a human shield. Yuri Savelyev, a member of the federal parliamentary commission, who analyzed in detail in his special opinion the use of tanks during the storming of the Beslan school, assumes that it was tank No. 325, since it had more powerful active armor than other tanks. The shell hit the school gatepost and flew into the assembly hall.

Only 14 years after the tragedy, in December 2018, the presidential envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexander Matovnikov, made the first official admission since the terrorist attack that the storming of the school had been planned from the very beginning, despite protests from local residents. The presidential envoy also confirmed that the school had been shelled from a tank.

More than 50 witnesses from among former hostages and city residents testified that tanks fired at the canteen between 15:00 and 16:00 (closer to 16:00) on September 3. It was at this time, at 15:10, that General Tikhonov gave the order to the Alpha and Vympel combat groups to directly storm the school. Until that time, the school, mainly the combat positions of the militants, was actively shelled with small arms and grenade launchers. Until 15:10 Moscow time on September 3, not a single special forces soldier was in the school building, the publication says.

The tank crews fired at the windows of the canteen, so the damage to the school's façade wall was minimal; the main damage to the walls, ceilings and floors from tank shells was recorded inside these rooms. At that time, dozens of hostages were able to escape from the gymnasium, which had been destroyed by the first explosions, either on their own or with the help of local residents. However, a significant number of hostages, at the request of the terrorists, moved from the gymnasium to the main part of the school (classrooms, canteen, kitchens) and to its southern wing, the article notes.

The author of the article also emphasized that the number of hostages killed directly in the cafeteria will most likely never be known.

"Immediately after the assault, all the bodies of the dead were taken out of the cafeteria. An autopsy of the bodies and the establishment of the real causes of death of the people killed in the school were not carried out. And in the criminal case and death certificates they wrote that all the hostages died as a result of explosions in the gym," claims Elena Milashina.

At this time, an attempt was made to tear off the bars from the dining room window by the crew of BTR-80 No. 834, commanded by the commander of the reconnaissance and airborne platoon of military unit 12356 Andrei Shuvarikov. However, the terrorists, using the hostages as cover, stopped this attempt with direct fire to kill.

Trying to carry out the order, Andrei Shuvarikov and Warrant Officer Sergei Ryabikhin were wounded, and the BTR was hit by terrorists with an under-barrel grenade launcher.

The investigation, despite the fact that the attempt was unsuccessful, supported the official version, stating that the servicemen of the crew of the armored personnel carrier #834, Shuvarikov and Ryabikhin, managed to hook a cable and tear off the bars on the windows. But this was denied in court by both the hostages and the only, according to the investigation, surviving terrorist Nurpasha Kulaev.

"When they fired from the tank, the bars [in the dining room] fell... The bars were inside. They did not shoot with the tank at the second floor. They shot at the bars. This is inside the first floor," he said.

The hostages who survived in the dining room said that the bars "flew off" as a result of the shelling. "I remember that there was a loud shot, and then the bars [flew off]. I determined by ear that these were shots from a tank, by the way the room shook when they shot. Before that, the militants also shot from machine guns and something else. Then the building shook, too, but not to such an extent," said hostage Zhanna Tsirikhova.

On September 4, during an inspection of the school, investigators actually found window bars inside the cafeteria. In addition, the same inspection recorded a large number of characteristic destructions of the interior walls, floors and ceiling of the cafeteria and adjoining utility rooms, which could not have occurred from the use of firearms and grenades, the publication says.

During the interrogation of the participants in the events in September 2004, a version about the grating, the cable and the APC emerged. The tankers in their testimony claim that only one tank, No. 325, fired seven shots, and that it was in the evening. This tank was commanded by Guram Abuladze.

The second wave of interrogations of the tankers took place in 2005, after the victims testified at the Kulaev trial that all the tanks had repeatedly fired at the canteen during the day, when the hostages were still there. The repeated interrogations of the tankers and servicemen of military unit 12356 almost word for word coincide with their first interrogations.

Only one phrase is added: "Tank No. 325 fired at the school when there were "no more living hostages" in it." The tank crews were interrogated for the third time in 2006. From these interrogations it follows directly that the commander of tank No. 325, Guram Abuladze, voluntarily changed his testimony between 2005 and 2006 and testified under the protocol that on September 3, 2004, he and other tank crews received orders from officers to fire at the canteen where the hostages were. But Guram Abuladze apparently refused to carry out this order, Milashina notes in the publication.

Ivan Bazhenov, a tank driver, said on May 18, 2006, that on the afternoon of September 3, "the Alpha special forces began preparing to storm the school."

According to him, he heard an order on the radio for one of the tanks not to get nervous and not to shoot. "No one fired from the tanks during the assault, at least I did not hear any shots. I did not hear anyone on the radio ordering Abuladze to shoot at the school, at least when I was in the tank, and when I got out of it, I could not hear the radio," he said.

Another conscript, Aleksandr Asharin, said on June 9, 2006, that he did not know that "Abuladze refused to carry out the order <...> to shoot at the school when there were hostages there." "I cannot explain why witnesses and victims claim that the tank fired during the daytime; maybe they got something mixed up," he said.

I know that there was an order to fire at the school during the day when there were hostages there.

This testimony proves that Abuladze told the investigation about the order from the officers to shoot at the school, the publication notes.

This was confirmed by Dmitry Godovalov, commander of tank No. 328. "I know that there was an order to fire at the school during the day, when there were hostages there. But we refused to fire at the school, since the hostages were standing in the windows and waving white rags," he said.

Sixteen years after the terrorist attack, the investigation admitted that tanks had indeed fired at the school during the assault - in 2020, VGTRK aired a film by Alexander Rogatkin about the tragedy in Beslan. The author of the film stated that "a tank was also used." "He fired blanks in order to “to make breaches in the walls for the passage of special forces, and with combat shells,” Rogatkin asserts.

Albert Khasanov, senior investigator for especially important cases of the Investigative Directorate for the North Caucasus Federal District, also spoke about this in the film.

"The T-72 tank had been used before, but it fired blanks. The combat use of the tank, that is, when it fired high-explosive fragmentation shells, was after 21:00," he said.

However, in the weapons reports available in the criminal case, all T-72s only have high-explosive fragmentation shells. According to Milashina, "the version about the "blanks" was created by the victims themselves, who saw the tanks shooting at the school, but they could not imagine that the tanks could shoot at hostages standing in the windows and waving white rags." At the same time, all the interrogated tank crews confirmed that there were no "blanks" in the ammunition of their tanks, the article says.

13:37 After the loss of the F-16, Western officials are reviewing the pace of training Ukrainian pilots, The Wall Street Journal writes, citing sources. The publication points out that Western pilots, even after completing training, fly with their units for many months before attempting complex missions in a combat zone. Ukrainian pilots, on the other hand, quickly moved from training to the battlefield. There are no plans to adjust the current training program for Ukrainian pilots, but "the crash shows what happens when you rush," a senior defense official told the publication.

During the event, the effectiveness of the use of drones was analyzed, and problematic issues and ways to solve them were discussed.

  • MLRS - 1178 (+1),

  • air defense systems - 941 (+1),

  • aircraft - 368 (+0),

  • helicopters - 328 (+0),

07:26 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports that the Russian army has significantly stepped up its offensive operations in the area of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region and has achieved minor tactical successes in this area. Analysts suggest that the Russian Federation plans to capture Kurakhovo and Vuhledar, which will allow Russian troops to more quickly gain tactical advantages before and along the H-15 highway.

At the same time, ISW believes that the Russians will not be able to maintain the initiative in the entire East for a long time, and the repeated intensification of offensive actions in the Donetsk region, in addition to the constant operational pressure caused by the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ invasion of the Kursk region, will likely lead to the offensive operations of the Russian forces reaching a culmination earlier than their military command plans.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState reports that the Defense Forces have restored positions in New York, Nelipovka in the Toretsk direction, and near Liptsy in the Kharkiv region. The enemy has advanced near Peschane, Stelmakhovka, Gornyak, in Kalinovka, Lesovka, and Galitsynovka.

07:15 The UK will provide Ukraine with LMM multi-role missiles to defend against Russian drones and missiles, Defence Secretary John Healey said. He specified that Kyiv will receive 650 light multi-role missiles worth £162 million (around $213 million). The missiles have a range of over 6 km and can be launched from a variety of platforms on land, at sea and in the air. The first batch is expected to arrive by the end of the year.

05:34 The United States will help Ukraine strengthen its position ahead of possible negotiations to end the war, said John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications for the White House National Security Council: "If the conflict ends through negotiations, we want to ensure that President Zelensky is in the best possible position to make decisions on the format of these negotiations."

Kirby added that to support these efforts, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will travel to Germany's Ramstein Air Base for a meeting of the International Contact Group on Ukraine. There, coalition partners will revisit options for further support for Ukraine.

00:02 Key topics at the next meeting in the Ramstein format, which will take place on September 6, will be strengthening Ukraine's air defense, updating coalitions, including the Air Force coalition, as well as activating the defense industrial bases of coalition countries to ensure support for Ukraine in the long term, said Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh.

Suspected Islamist threatens German police with machete, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’
There must be so many that the autuorities have given up trying to hide them all.
[IsraelTimes] A 29-year-old Albanian man
…doesn’t Albania want to join the EU?
carrying a machete has attacked a German cop shoppe, with Sherlocks probing a possible "radical Islamist motive."

The man entered the station in the western town of Linz am Rhein, shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Greatest") and said he wanted to "kill coppers," Koblenz prosecutors say.

Officers on site locked the entrance door and a door leading to the inner courtyard of the cop shoppe, leaving the man trapped.

"The accused is said to have tried to open them by force... but was unsuccessful," prosecutors add.

Special forces were alerted to the situation and neutralized the attacker using a taser.

During a search of his home, Sherlocks find the emblem of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group drawn on the wall.

The Albanian suspect remains under arrest and investigations are ongoing, according to prosecutors.
Update from Breitbart at 6:05 p.m. ET:
An Islamist apparently botched an attempted terror attack in the German city of Linz, in the Rhineland-Palatinate on Friday after he rushed a police station with a machete. He attempted to get inside but was foiled by the security door, and was locked in — alone — in the compound by officers, who then tasered him into submission.

The suspect, said to be a 29-year-old Albanian migrant, is reported to have shouted the now-familiar “Allahu Akhbar” as he attempted to strike, and investigating officers searching his apartment found an Islamic State flag hanging on the wall. Police have conceded there was likely an Islamist terror motive, but Welt states he was not on the radar of the intelligence services before today.

He has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is awaiting trial, with the investigation into the attack being handed by counter-terror officers.

After Motorcade Involved In Fender Bender, Tim Walz Adds Purple Heart To Resume
[BEE] MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Democrat Vice-Presidential candidate Tim Walz has just added another distinguished award to his already impressive military resume. According to sources, the battle-hardened veteran awarded himself a Purple Heart after his motorcade was involved in a fender bender yesterday.

While sources say that the incident was "relatively minor," as Walz had accidentally bumped into a parked car, the Minnesota governor decided it was a good enough opportunity for him to spiff up his military career just a little more.

"I, Tim Walz, for my outstanding bravery and courage in the face of suffering slight back pain as a result of rear-ending another person's parked car, do hereby award myself the Purple Medal for Distinguished Valor or something," Walz reportedly intoned, gazing balefully at the damage with his best grizzly veteran's face. "In recognition of my service, I would like to offer myself my sincerest congratulations and best wishes. Science bless America. Communism is the answer. Thank you all."

Mother Faces Retaliation from US Military for Criticizing ‘Polysexual’ Posters at Daughter's Elementary School
[ThomasMoreSociety] Thomas More Society Argues Federal Appeal on Behalf of Angela Reading, Mother Who Was Treated Like a Terrorist .

Angela was visiting her seven-year-old daughter's school for 'math night,' when walking down the hall with her daughter, her child read posters promoting different sexualities at the school's entry and asked her mother what 'polysexual' meant. To Angela, this was deeply inappropriate for an elementary school environment. After Angela's concerns were dismissed by the school, Reading—herself a member of the school board—posted in a Facebook group dedicated to discussion about local schools.

However, when military officials at the neighboring Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst saw this post on the local Facebook group, they conspired with the local police chief for North Hanover Township, to take down and censor her post from the Facebook group. Military officials at the base even worked to portray her as a “security threat” and reported her to various law enforcement and security agencies in an effort retaliate against her and make her afraid to speak in the future—including to Homeland Security.

In March 2023, Thomas More Society filed a federal lawsuit to vindicate and protect Angela's civil rights. A U.S. District Court denied an injunctive order to protect Angela and her family, and in February 2024 filed a federal appeal. On September 4, Senior Counsel Christopher Ferrara presents oral argument in the appeal before Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judges Kent Jordan, Thomas Hardiman, and David Porter.

Trump says he will tap Elon Musk to lead government efficiency commission if elected
[IsraelTimes] US presidential candidate gives few details about how commission would operate, other than placing billionaire supporter at the helm

Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
said on Thursday he would establish a government efficiency commission headed by billionaire supporter Elon Musk if he wins the November 5 election, during a wide-ranging speech in which he laid out his economic vision for the country.

Speaking at the New York Economic Club, the former president also pledged to slash corporate tax rates for companies that manufacture domestically, establish "low-tax" zones on federal lands where construction companies would be encouraged to build new homes and start a sovereign wealth fund.

Trump had been discussing the idea of an efficiency commission with aides for weeks, people with knowledge of those conversations have told Rooters. His Thursday speech, however, was the first time he publicly endorsed the idea.

It was also the first time Trump said Musk had agreed to head the body. Trump did not detail how such a commission would operate, besides saying it would develop a plan to eliminate "fraud and improper payments" within six months of being formed.

"I will create a government efficiency commission tasked with conducting a complete financial and performance audit of the entire federal government," Trump told an audience that included his former treasury secretary, Steve Mnuchin, and financiers Scott Bessent and John Paulson.

Musk said on an August 19 podcast that he had held conversations with the former president about the commission and that he would be interested in serving on it.

"I look forward to serving America if the opportunity arises," the Tesla chief wrote on X on Thursday. "No pay, no title, no recognition is needed."

Politicians have called for separate efficiency commissions before. Republican President Ronald Reagan established a similar body during his 1981-1989 term called the Grace Commission.

Trump’s proposal drew a rebuke from Everett Kelley, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, a union representing about 750,000 federal workers. He accused Trump and Musk of wanting to gut the nonpartisan civil service and replace fired workers with allies.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Expert to TML: US prefers a dependent Israel over a self-sustaining ally
[JPost] Two back-to-back diplomatic stands, one from the States and one from Israel, mark the eleventh month of war with six hostages being recently executed in Gaza. The United States said that Israel agreed to remove its military from the densely populated areas along the Philadelphi Corridor, also known as Saladin Axis,
…I didn’t know that…
as part of a truce prisoner swap deal.

"The deal itself, the proposal, and the bridging proposal that we started working with included the removal of Israel Defense Forces from all densely populated areas, including those areas along the corridor. That’s the proposal Israel agreed to," said the White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby on Tuesday.
That was before Hamas started openly murdering hostages, just for spite. As Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote so lyrically, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines."
Kirby added as well that US President Joe Biden has, in numerous conversations with Netanyahu, as with counterparts in Qatar and Egypt, stressed the importance of "doing everything" to conclude this proposal, which, according to him, "was an Israeli proposal agreed to at the end of May."

"The United States is desperate for a ceasefire for two reasons: the elections and Iran. If a deal happens, the electors, both Jewish and Muslim, may favor this more, and also the threat of Iran and its proxies may ’cease’ according to them, but Israel knows this is not the case," Daniel Diker, president of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, told The Media Line.

NEGOTIATIONS
Meanwhile, Netanyahu on Monday signaled that he wouldn’t compromise on this issue and demanded control of the corridor in any ceasefire deal, stalling once again negotiations for the release of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas.

"The corridor is the oxygen of Hamas. No one is more committed than me to freeing the hostages. No one will preach to me on this issue," Netanyahu affirmed in a press release on Monday. "Netanyahu will never accept to give up the corridor completely. There could be minor changes, mainly in the number of troops and their deployment, but there will still be an Israeli military presence. If Israel withdraws from Gaza, it won’t be able to enter back afterward," Zaki Shalom, professor at the Misgav Institute, explained to The Media Line.

"America is not able to exert significant pressure on Israel right now. Biden’s biased approach in the past months has damaged America’s reliability in the region and has shown his moderate response to American citizens’ deaths. So, if the States try to push for a change of the agreement, this will lead to the final loss of its credibility as an ally all over the world, plus Democrats will lose Jewish voters at the elections, which may favor Trump."
Good.
Diker agreed that pulling out of the Philadephi corridor would be catastrophic for Israel and would symbolize a victory for Hamas since it is a strategic military site.

After eleven months of war and still no deal, the country's citizens remain skeptical of a ceasefire solution.

According to The Israel Democracy Institute, August 2024 Israeli Voice Index—conducted by IDI’s Viterbi Family Center for Public Opinion and Policy Research—Jewish Israelis are overwhelmingly pessimistic (78.5%) regarding the chance for a ceasefire deal that would lead to a release of hostages. Arab Israelis are divided evenly between optimistic (48%) and pessimistic (49%) about a deal. Across the sample, 73.5% are pessimistic, and about 21% are optimistic.

..."We saw the Israeli policy colliding with the American one over the months. I think that America actually prefers a weaker Israel, which is more dependent on the States’ choices and less self-sustaining," Diker concluded.

Hamas document details tactics to up pressure on Israel, stall hostage talks — report
[IsraelTimes] According to Bild, terror organization seeks to introduce Arab forces to Strip to serve as buffer with Israel as it rebuilds, disregards Palestinian civilians

A newly revealed Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
document indicates that the terror group’s main concern in ceasefire negotiations with Israel is to rehabilitate its military capabilities, and not to alleviate the suffering of Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
’s civilian population, German newspaper Bild reported Friday.

The spring 2024 document, which Bild said it had obtained exclusively, without offering further details, was reportedly found on a computer in Gaza that belonged to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

It articulates Hamas’s strategies and objectives in negotiations with Israel over a potential deal that would see hostages released in exchange for a ceasefire and the release of Paleostinian prisoners held by Israel.

According to the report, Hamas is indifferent to whether the ongoing war ends quickly, instead prioritizing maintaining the terror group’s military capabilities, "exhausting" Israel’s military and political apparatuses, and increasing international pressure on Israel.

While the terror group admits in the paper that the war, going into its 12th month, has diminished its military capacities, Hamas still seeks to "improve important clauses in the agreement, even if the negotiations continue for an extended period." Notably, Paleostinian civilian casualties are not mentioned in the document.

The report also said Hamas lays out a strategy of psychological warfare through the hostages, calling to "continue to exert psychological pressure on the families of the [hostages], both now and in the first phase [of the ceasefire] so that public pressure on the enemy government increases."
This strategy has been demonstrated through Hamas’s periodic publishing of videos of hostages pleading for their release. In the past week, Hamas has published such videos featuring hostages whose bodies were recently recovered from Gaza, days after they were executed by the terror group.

In the document, Hamas also plans talking points, blaming "Israel’s stubbornness" as delaying a deal. It also reportedly lists Hamas’s main objectives in a deal. One is securing the release of 100 Paleostinian prisoners held by Israel serving life sentences, usually for murder.

Another purported Hamas goal is to have forces from Arab countries stationed along the Israel-Gaza border as part of a more permanent ceasefire, to serve as a buffer between Israel and Hamas, thus allowing Hamas to recuperate and reorganize under the protection of these forces.

Notably, Israel has also reportedly suggested that a coalition of Arab forces administrate the enclave at some point in the future. Unlike the Hamas proposal, the Israeli plan would see the Arab forces ensuring Hamas does not rehabilitate its military capabilities.

The report also noted that the document does not mention the Philadelphi Corridor, despite the strip of land on the Gaza-Egypt border recently becoming a key sticking point in negotiations. This may be attributed to the time the document was written, as Israel only took control of the Philadelphi Corridor in May.
