From the Times of Israel liveblogs: War against Iran and Lebanon’s Hezbollah
Report: Israel could target Iranian oil facilities in response to missile attack
They did it to the Houthis in Yemen, so it wouldn’t be exactly novel…
Israel is reportedly planning a significant response to last night’s Iranian missile attack, although the details and timing are yet to be determined. According to the Axios news site, citing unnamed Israeli officials, one of the likely targets is Iranian oil facilities, but an attack on Iran’s air defense system is also a possibility, as are targeted assassinations of senior figures.

Hezbollah claims it clashed with Israeli troops in the Lebanese town of Odaisseh
Hezbollah claims it confronted Israeli forces “infiltrating” the Lebanese town of Odaisseh early this morning, and forced them to retreat.

Hezbollah operatives confronted “an Israeli enemy infantry force that tried to infiltrate into the village of Odaisseh… and clashed with them,” a statement says, adding separately that Hezbollah also targeted three different points across the border with rockets and artillery.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF. The Israeli military revealed yesterday that it had conducted dozens of cross-border raids into Hezbollah in recent months and did not have any direct clashes with Hezbollah operatives.

IDF says it has struck a number of Hezbollah weapons production sites in Beirut in recent days
The IDF says that it has carried out a number of strikes in recent days against Hezbollah infrastructure situated throughout Beirut, releasing footage of one such strike.

The military says that its fighter jets operated based on precise intelligence to strike “weapon production sites” and other terror infrastructure in and around Beirut.

It took steps to prevent harm to uninvolved civilians, the IDF says, including advance warnings to the population.

“The Hezbollah terror organization places its production sites and its weaponry under residential buildings in the heart of Beirut and endangers the population in the area,” the IDF says.

The strikes the military is referring to are separate from a number of targeted assassinations it has carried out in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut against Hezbollah officials.

Israel is continuing to strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon this morning as well, the IDF adds.

Lebanese security source says at least 5 Israeli strikes hit Hezbollah’s Beirut stronghold
A Lebanese security source says that at least five Israeli strikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after the IDF twice called for residents in the Hezbollah stronghold, known as Dahiyeh, to clear the areas surrounding specific buildings ahead of imminent strikes.

“At least five Israeli strikes targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs,” the source says, requesting anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

AFP correspondents report hearing multiple explosions and saw smoke rising in one area while a fire appeared to burn.

The Israeli military says that it is “currently striking Hezbollah terror targets in Beirut.”

IDF again instructs civilians to move away from building in Hezbollah’s Beirut stronghold
The IDF again calls on Lebanese civilians near a specific building in the southern suburb of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, to evacuate immediately ahead of airstrikes. Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, publishes a map which call on civilians to distance themselves at least 500 meters from the site.

Several hours prior, the IDF had issued similar instructions for residents surrounding two other buildings in the southern suburb.

IDF announces strikes on ‘terror targets’ in Beirut after issuing new evacuation orders
The military announces it is currently striking “terror targets” in Beirut, after issuing a new call for residents of parts of the area to evacuate. A statement from the Israel Defense Forces says it will soon release further details.

A Lebanese security source told AFP that the attack targeted Beirut’s southern suburbs. AFP correspondents heard the sound of an explosion from the area, which Israel has struck repeatedly since last week, saying it is targeting Hezbollah sites.

Lebanese health ministry says 55 killed Tuesday in Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah
Israeli strikes against Hezbollah targets in several regions of Lebanon on Tuesday killed 55 people and wounded 156, the country’s health ministry says.

IDF calls on civilians to clear away from 2 buildings in Hezbollah’s Beirut stronghold
The IDF is calling on Lebanese civilians near two buildings in the southern suburb of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as Dahiyeh, to evacuate immediately ahead of airstrikes. Col. Avichay Adraee, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, publishes maps alongside the announcement, which call on civilians to distance themselves at least 500 meters from the sites.

Iran says it did not give US prior notice of ballistic missile attack on Israel
Iran did not give the United States prior notice of its attack on Israel, Iran’s mission to the United Nations in New York says.

“No notice was given to the United States prior to our response; however, a serious warning was issued afterwards,” the Iranian mission says in a statement.

Hours ahead of the attack, the US said it had “indications” that Iran was preparing to fire at Israel.

IDF says commander of Iranian militia killed alongside Hezbollah official in Beirut
The IDF says that it killed the commander of the Imam Hossein Division, an Iranian militia which operates alongside Hezbollah, in the same strike that killed the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400 in Beirut. The military names the commander as Daw Alfakher Hinawi.

It says the Imam Hossein Division has carried out numerous rocket and drone attacks on Israel amid the war, from Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon. The division was behind a drone that struck a school in Eilat in November 2023, causing damage.

IDF says commander of Hezbollah’s weapons’ smuggling Unit 4400 killed in Beirut airstrike
The IDF says it killed the commander of Hezbollah’s Unit 4400, which is tasked with delivering weapons from Iran and its proxies to Lebanon.

Muhammad Ja’far Kasir, who headed Unit 4400, was killed in a strike carried out by fighter jets in Beirut, according to the military. The IDF says Kasir was “one of the senior leaders of the Hezbollah terror organization and the most dominant [person] in the Iran-Hezbollah-Syria terror axis, and is considered close to the Iranian regime.”

He was involved in hundreds of “strategic” weapons smuggling operations from Iran to Hezbollah, and was among those who advanced the terror group’s precision missile project. Kasir served as head of Unit 4400 for some 15 years, the IDF says.

US official says Iran informed ‘international parties’ of the size and timing of attack
Iran informed “international parties” of the size and timing of its anticipated attack on Israel, a US Defense Department official tells Sky News Arabia. The US expressed concern earlier over Iran’s ballistic missiles, which can reach Israel in less than 15 minutes. A US-based Axios reporter writes on X that Iran is expected to attack Israel with ballistic missiles that can reach targets within 12 minutes, and not with drones or cruise missiles that take longer.

IDF says it is calling up four reservist brigades to northern front
The IDF says that following an assessment it is calling up four reservist brigades as well as other forces to take part in ongoing operations on the northern front. An Israeli brigade is generally made up of several thousand soldiers.

The IDF says calling up the additional reservists “will allow the continuation of the fight against the Hezbollah terror organization.”

Sources claim Israel struck 3 anti-aircraft radar stations in southern Syria
Syrian military sources claim to Reuters that Israel has struck at least three anti-aircraft radar stations in southern Syria, including one stationed in a military airfield. The drone strikes reportedly hit two radar stations west of the city of Sweida, including one stationed in an airbase in the area. Another purportedly hit a radar station in the adjoining Daraa province. They are part of the Syrian army’s air defenses in the southern region, one of the sources adds.

There was no immediate comment from the IDF, which rarely comments on strikes carried out in Syria.

IDF urges evacuation of over 20 Lebanese towns: ‘Anyone who is near Hezbollah… is putting their life in danger’
The Israeli military urges residents of more than 20 towns in southern Lebanon to evacuate immediately, in a statement from IDF spokesperson Avichay Adraee on X.

“The IDF does not want to harm you, and for your own safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately. Anyone who is near Hezbollah members, installations and combat equipment is putting their life in danger,” the IDF adds.

The statement comes after Israel this morning announced the commencement of limited ground operations against the Hezbollah terror group in Lebanon.

Gaza: IDF airstrikes 3 schools Hamas using as command posts, house in refugee camp; soldiers drive off crowd in Netzarim Corrider
IDF says it struck Hamas terrorists using school in Gaza; 9 reported dead
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it struck Hamas terrorists who were operating from a school in central Gaza, guided by pinpoint intelligence. Hamas was using the school as a base to plan and to carry out “terror attacks against IDF soldiers and the State of Israel,” says the military.

The IDF says that ahead of the strike, it carried out a number of steps “to limit the harm to civilians.”

The WAFA Palestinian news agency reports that at least nine Palestinians were killed and 20 injured in the strike on the school, where displaced people were sheltering.

IDF says it carried out strikes on Hamas members operating out of former schools in northern Gaza
[IsraelTimes] Israeli Air Force fighter jets carried out targeted strikes against Hamas operatives at command rooms embedded in former schools in the northern Gaza Strip, the IDF says.

According to the military, Hamas was using command rooms in the Muscat and Rimal schools in the north of the enclave to “plan and carry out terrorist operations against the IDF and the State of Israel.”

The IDF says it took steps to mitigate civilian harm in the strike, and accuses Hamas of “systematically” using civilian sites for terror.

IDF: Troops open fire after Palestinian suspects approach in Gaza’s Netzarim Corridor; 3 reported dead
[IsraelTimes] Dozens of Palestinian suspects began to approach Israeli forces in the Netzarim Corridor in the central Gaza Strip this evening, the IDF says. The military says the suspects “posed a threat,” and the troops opened fire at them. No soldiers were hurt in the incident, which the IDF says is “under control.”

Palestinian medical officials say that Israeli forces killed at least three people trying to return to their homes in the northern Strip. The al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in the central town of Deir al-Bahah says that IDF troops opened fired at the men. An Associated Press journalist saw ambulances taking people to the hospital, and counted the bodies. The officials said the men were among a group of people trying to return to their homes.

At least 11 Palestinians killed in Israeli strike in Gaza’s Nuseirat camp, Gaza medics say
At least 11 Palestinians were killed, including women and children, in an Israeli strike on a house in Nuseirat camp in central Gaza Strip, Gaza medics tell Reuters after midnight on Tuesday.

There is no immediate comment from the IDF, which says it takes steps to avoid casualties to civilians while Hamas embeds its fighters among them.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
IDF: 3,000 terrorists were waiting in Leb to attack northern Israel after Oct. 7; special forces carried out 70 raids on Hezbollah since then
Ghosts in the night, ghosting most effectively.
[IsraelTimes] As the Israel Defense Forces officially launched ground operations in southern Lebanon early yesterday morning, the military is now disclosing that it has already carried out more than 70 small raids with special forces since the beginning of the war, destroying numerous Hezbollah positions, tunnels, and thousands of weapons that would have potentially been used by the terror group to invade Israel.

According to the IDF, troops in the raids over past months silently reached around 1,000 Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon, some of them several kilometers from the border fence, including tunnels and bunkers where the terror group stored weapons. The IDF said the sites were located both inside Lebanese villages and in forested areas.

The raids have been carried out since early in the Israel-Hamas war, after the IDF said it managed to push back Hezbollah’s elite Radwan force from the border area, enabling Israeli commandos to enter Lebanon with almost no detection. There were no direct clashes with Hezbollah operatives amid any of the raids.

According to IDF assessments, some 2,400 Radwan terrorists and another 500 Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists — trained by Radwan — were waiting in southern Lebanon villages to attack Israel in the days after Hamas’s October 7 onslaught.

The IDF Northern Command had expected an invasion from Lebanon and bolstered its defenses. In the following weeks, it carried out numerous strikes on Hezbollah operatives and sites along the border, causing the thousands of Radwan terrorists to withdraw several kilometers back.

The raids carried out by the IDF commandos, including combat engineers, sometimes lasted three to four days, according to the military. In all, 200 nights’ worth of operations had been carried out.

The military showed reporters dozens of weapons, including assault rifles, machine guns, RPGs, anti-tank missiles, explosive devices, mines, mortars, and equipment such as walkie-talkies (which did not explode) that had been recovered by the commandos from within Hezbollah tunnels and bunkers.

Military officials said that the recovered weapons were less than 1 percent of what had been found in the Hezbollah sites. Practically, it was difficult for the soldiers to lug back dozens of heavy weapons back to the country through the difficult terrain, but some soldiers still took on the challenge.

The IDF identified that while its commando operations were successful, it was not enough to be able to achieve the newest of Israel’s war goals — enabling the return of the displaced residents of the north to their homes.

Therefore, the IDF launched what it described as “limited, localized, and targeted raids” in southern Lebanon, carried out by an entire division, with the goal of demolishing Hezbollah’s infrastructure in the border area.

The operation has much of the same goals as the commando raids, but now the army can be less silent with its activities, and destroy tunnel networks and other sites that normally can’t be carried out by small forces that are operating quietly. Previously, the IDF would strike the raided Hezbollah sites from the air after troops had withdrawn.

Military officials have said they aim for the offensive to be as short as possible, even just a few weeks. There has been no intention by the IDF to remain in southern Lebanon, but instead, it plans to bolster its defenses and surveillance on the border following the ground operation against the terror group, and make sure Hezbollah does not return to the area.

The IDF sees a chance that its strikes on Hezbollah, killing its entire top leadership, could lead to a power balance change in Lebanon, with the government regaining control of areas in the country, especially the south, from the hands of the Iran-backed group.

Still, the IDF has assessed that Hezbollah still possesses rocket and missile fire capabilities, highlighted by this morning’s barrage on central Israel in which two people were wounded. Military officials said the army does not aim to “drain the ocean” and destroy every last rocket, but will work to disarm the terror group as much as possible.
More here about the 200 nights of quiet cross-border raids.

Swedish police probing report of shooting outside Israeli embassy in Stockholm
[IsraelTimes] Police in Stockholm are looking into the possibility of a shooting outside Israel’s embassy in Sweden, according to the local TV4 Nyheterna.

After a loud bang was heard, the Swedish outlet reports, police found a gun and an empty bullet casing.

At least 10 police cars are at the site, and searches are being carried out by canine units.

The Grand Turk
Turkish Police arrest 14 Afghan refugees
[KhaamaPress] Following the deportation and detention of Afghan refugees in Turkey, authorities announced the arrest of 14 Afghan refugees in the city of Sakarya.

Turkish media reported that these Afghan refugees were being transported illegally in a truck when they were apprehended by Turkish police on Saturday, September 28.

According to police reports, three individuals were arrested in this operation on charges of “human trafficking.” One has been released, while the other two have been referred to the court.

Media outlets reported that the detained migrants had been transferred to holding centres, and the process of deporting them to Afghanistan has begun.

Previously, Turkish police had also reported the arrest of Afghan refugees from various regions across the country.

In recent months, Turkey has intensified its operations to deport refugees without residency permits. There have also been complaints from some Afghan citizens with legal documents about mistreatment by the police.

The increasing arrests and deportations of Afghan refugees in Turkey highlight the mounting challenges for undocumented migrants and asylum seekers in the country.

The situation raises concerns about the treatment of refugees, even those with proper documentation, and the broader implications for human rights and refugee protection in Turkey.

Germany to deport Turkish refugees following bilateral agreement, separately importing 500 Kenyan professionals
[KhaamaPress] After prolonged negotiations between Germany and the Turkish government, Germany has begun the process of deporting hundreds of Turkish refugees back to their home country.

Foreign media, quoting German officials, reported that more than 13,500 Turkish citizens are required to leave Germany and will be deported to their homeland under a bilateral agreement.

The German federal government, after months of negotiations with the government in Ankara, has started the deportation process for a large number of Turkish citizens back to Turkey.

According to the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 200 Turks will be sent back to Turkey initially via several regular flights from different German airports.

Nancy Faeser, Germany’s interior minister, stated that this is another step in limiting illegal immigration to Germany.

It is worth mentioning that this agreement apparently took shape during Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Berlin last November. At that time, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz publicly requested Erdogan to take back Turkish refugees from Germany.

This deportation process signifies Germany’s ongoing efforts to curb illegal immigration, especially as the country faces increasing challenges with asylum seekers.

The agreement between Germany and Turkey may set a precedent for future negotiations with other countries, as European nations continue to address issues related to immigration and refugee crises.

German police raid homes of pro-Palestinian activists
[DW] Police in Berlin have raided the homes of five men in connection with protests and online posts that they say included anti-Semitic slogans. One of the suspects was accused of a violent attack on a state politician.

Police on Monday said they were investigating five men in Berlin suspected of criminal offenses "through allegedly pro-Palestinian motivated activities."

German authorities have sought to crack down on protests that they say include anti-Semitic comments and slogans as well as some incidents of violence.

However, critics have accused the German police of suppressing free speech.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE RAIDS?
Police said they raided the homes of the five suspects on Monday morning, seizing mobile phones, computers and other data storage devices.

These were now being evaluated, the police and public prosecutor's office announced in Berlin.

The men, aged between 18 and 40, are suspected of breaching the peace, incitement of the people and using symbols of organizations outlawed in Germany.

Some 125 police officers were involved in property searches in the districts of Friedrichshain, Britz, Gropiusstadt, Tegel and Schöneberg. No arrests were made.

Police say they are investigating questions of authorship of social media posts and the suspected networking of the suspects in the pro-Palestinian scene.

The 18-year-old under investigation allegedly threw a microphone stand at Berlin's culture minister, Joe Chialo, at the opening of a local arts center in mid-September — missing but hitting a woman in the attempt.

Chialo has called for public funding to be cut from arts groups that are critical of Israel, especially those that back boycotts over the conflict in Gaza.

At a recent event, dozens of protesters reportedly chanted slogans and insulted Chialo. One young man is now suspected of disturbing the peace and attempted grievous bodily harm. Meanwhile, police say a 31-year-old is being investigated for incitement after allegedly posting on Instagram, wishing for "the return of Adolf Hitler" and "a new Holocaust," according to prosecutors.

Pro-Palestinian protests, especially in Berlin, have been common since the October 7 terror attacks on Israel and Israel's subsequent military campaign in Gaza.

German authorities frequently crack down on these demonstrations, citing anti-Semitic slogans, violent incidents, and rising tensions.

However, critics argue the German governnment and legal system can be overly sensitive on this issue, in no small part because of its World War II history and its efforts to defend Israel in the aftermath of the Holocaust.

Ending embargo, Saudi Arabia to send $60 million to Palestinian Authority – report
[IsraelTimes] In apparent warming of ties, kingdom to give funds to cash-strapped Ramallah in four monthly payments, in arrangement struck during Abbas visit to Riyadh.

International aid for the PA has dropped off due to concerns that it is corrupt and ineffective, a view shared by many Palestinians themselves.

The PA has been further squeezed by Israel withholding some tax revenues it collects on its behalf, citing concerns the money would go to Palestinian terrorists and their families. As the war in Gaza continues, Israel has placed restrictions on the movement of West Bank Palestinian laborers into Israel, further denting the PA economy.

The Saudi money won’t be enough to float the PA financially, the Times said, but noted it showed an improvement in ties with Palestinian leaders and increased support for the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Saudi officials had indicated before the Hamas-led October 7 attack on southern Israel and the war it ignited that direct financial support to Ramallah, which dried up in 2016 amid graft allegations, would resume if the PA greenlights the kingdom’s normalization with Israel and increases efforts to curb corruption.

After the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas, Saudi Arabia largely put on ice US-backed plans for the kingdom to normalize ties with Israel, sources familiar with Riyadh’s thinking said earlier this year. Last month Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman again declared that normalization with Israel would not come without the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Such a move is considered a key sticking point with the current right-wing Israeli government, which has repeatedly rejected the possibility of a Palestinian state, especially in the wake of the October 7 attack, saying that doing so would be tantamount to rewarding terrorism.

Europeans, Arab, and Muslim nations have also recently launched a new initiative for a Palestinian state, and to prepare for a future after the war in Gaza ends.

US Navy, Jordan shot down Iranian missiles alongside Israel yesterday; US announces will help Israel exact ‘severe consequences’ from Iran for missile attack
[IsraelTimes] Pledge to assist goes further than DC’s support after April attack, when Biden sought to limit Israel’s response; president says strike unsuccessful partly due to US assistance

The US warned Tuesday that there would be “severe consequences” for Iran after its missile attack against Israel, pledging to work with Jerusalem to extract a price from Tehran.

Washington offered similar support for Israel after helping it thwart Iran’s previous attack in April, but then it quickly turned to caution Israel against responding too broadly, fearing an escalation into a regional war. On Tuesday, though, Biden officials weren’t just stressing Israel’s right to respond but indicating that the US would be assisting Israel in launching that response.

“There will be severe consequences for this attack and we will work with Israel to make that the case,” Sullivan said during a press briefing at the White House hours after Iran launched some 180 ballistic missiles at Israel.

One Palestinian in the West Bank was killed and two Israelis were injured by falling shrapnel and debris that had caused damage and started fires in the area.

The Israel Defense Forces said that it intercepted “a large number” of the missiles. Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder said US Navy destroyers fired roughly one dozen interceptors at Iranian missiles. Sullivan said US “partners” also took part in thwarting the attack, but declined to identify them. Jordan Public Security Directorate said its air defenses intercepted missiles and drones over its airspace during the attack.

“At my direction, the United States military actively supported the defense of Israel,” US President Joe Biden told reporters at the White House, adding that the Iranian attack “appears to have been defeated and ineffective.”

“This is testament to Israeli military capability… [and] also a testament to intensive planning [between] the United States and Israel to anticipate and defend against a brazen attack,” he added.

“Make no mistake, the United States is fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel,” the US president stressed.

Asked how he wanted Israel to respond, Biden said this was a matter in “active discussion” and that the consequences for Tehran “remain to be seen.”

Biden monitored the attack with US Vice President Kamala Harris from the Situation Room, and the pair held another meeting earlier Tuesday after the US received intelligence that an attack was imminent — information that was quickly shared with Israel.

In her own statement to the press, Harris said she backs Biden’s decision to order US military personnel to shoot down Iranian missiles targeting Israel, as he did in April. She slammed the “reckless and brazen” Iranian missile attack, which further demonstrates that Tehran is a “destabilizing, dangerous force” in the Middle East.

“Iran is not only a threat to Israel, Iran is also a threat to American personnel in the region, American interests and innocent civilians across the region who suffer at the hands of Iran-based and backed terrorist proxies,” Harris continued. “We will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to defend US forces and interests against Iran and Iran-backed terrorists, and we will continue to work with our allies and partners to disrupt Iran’s aggressive behavior and hold them accountable.”

Pressed on what the pledged response to Iran might look like, Sullivan said the US had already begun discussing the issue with Israel before the strike was carried out and that those conversations would continue, but he declined to offer additional details.

“This is a significant escalation by Iran, and it is equally significant that we were able to step up with Israel and create a situation in which no one was killed in this attack in Israel,” said the top Biden aide.

“We are now going to look at what the appropriate next steps are to secure first and foremost American interests and then to promote stability — to the maximum extent possible — as we go forward,” he said.

“We are proud of the actions that we’ve taken alongside Israel to protect and defend Israel,” Sullivan said.

In a subsequent briefing, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller called on “every nation in the world must join us in condemning” Iran’s attack.

Miller fiercely denied reports that Iran passed along a message to the US warning of the impending attack shortly before it was launched.

“What you saw Iran do today was come to the defense of a terrorist organization,” Miller added.

The State Department spokesperson also flatly rejected Iran’s claim that its attack was in response to Israel’s violation of its sovereignty when it killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran in July.

“This event had nothing to do with Iran’s sovereignty. It has to do with the fact that a number of the terrorist organizations that Iran has set up for years as a way to undermine and attack the State of Israel have been weakened first over the past few months and then most recently over the past few weeks,” Miller said, highlighting the recent Israeli killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

“To the extent that any Iranian officials have been killed in the past few days in Lebanon or in Syria, it’s because they were meeting with terrorist leaders,” the State Department spokesperson said.

Man who shot two Jews outside LA synagogues sentenced to 35 years in prison
[IsraelTimes] Jaime Tran, who pleaded guilty in June to two counts of hate crimes with intent to kill, acquired guns through intermediary after he was prohibited from buying them himself

A man who attempted to murder two Jews leaving synagogue in Los Angeles on consecutive days last year has been sentenced to 35 years in prison.

Jaime Tran, 30, a former California resident and dental student, pleaded guilty in June to two counts of hate crimes with intent to kill and two counts of “using, carrying and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence,” a statement from the Justice Department said.
He dropped out of dental school — or was expelled, it’s not clear — due to mental health issues that drove him to latch on to increasingly virulent Jew-hate as an explanation for Covid and beyond, until he ended up trying to kill two of them.
According to law enforcement, In February 2023, Tran drove to Pico-Robertson, a heavily Jewish neighborhood in LA, in search of Jewish victims, and shot a man who was leaving a synagogue and wearing a kippah. The next morning, Tran shot another man wearing a kippah and leaving a different synagogue nearby.

Both victims were injured in the attacks and survived. Tran was arrested two days later.

According to the indictment, Tran had a long history of making violent antisemitic comments and threats. In the months leading up to his attacks, Tran repeatedly called and texted a former classmate, sending messages including “Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew. Someone is going to kill you, Jew,” and “Burn in an oven chamber you bitch Jew.”

As of 2023, Tran was prohibited from buying firearms due to previous mental health holds, according to a statement from the Justice Department. But the statement said that around mid-February 2023, he acquired at least two guns using an intermediary, and then “used the internet to research locations with a ‘kosher market.’”

Former IS PM Naftali Bennett - 'This opportunity must not to be missed'
X - Israel has now its greatest opportunity in 50 years, to change the face of the Middle East.

The leadership of Iran, which used to be good at chess, made a terrible mistake this evening.

We must act *now* to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, its central energy facilities, and to fatally cripple this terrorist regime.

To strike the head of the octopus of terror, that, in its cowardice, sent its tentacles (Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, etc.) to murder us, while the Ayatollahs sat safely in their palaces in Tehran.

The octopus's tentacles are temporarily paralysed - now comes the head.

We must remove this terrible threat to our children's future.

We can grant the Iranian people an opportunity to rise up and shake off the regime that tyrannizes its women and daughters.

We have the justification. We have the tools.
Now that Hezbollah and Hamas are paralyzed, Iran stands exposed.

Over this last terrible year, Iranian tentacles murdered our families.
Raped our daughters.
Kidnapped our children.
Ransacked our towns.
Burned our fields.
Fired on our ships.
Terrorized children in Kiryat Shmona, Kfar Aza, and Sderot.
Emptied out whole regions of our land.
Humiliated us.

Now is the moment.

A Nation of Lions has united and proven its strength over the last year.
It has yearned for a change, for action, for so very long.

There are times when history knocks at our door, and we must open it.

This opportunity must not be missed.

#18  Re:#9: Seriously Minnesota...WTF?

As a MN refugee, this is my take. MN was filled with reasonable people, many of whom were farmers and blue collar - the old Minnesota Nice thing. The DFL (Dem Farmers and Laborers AKA Democratic Machine) gained support by claiming to represent them and finding issues "nice, liberal (in the non-pejorative sense) people" would support, like civil rights and school funding and healthcare. In the meantime they got a boost from Obama et al by acquiring a Somali voting block to add to the already large inner city welfare rolls. This allowed them to elect people like Omar, Ellison, Franken and Walz. Once they got control of both houses of the legislature (by 1 vote) and the governorship, they literally ripped the heart out of the state in one legislative session. This is exactly what is going to happen when the Dems cheat their way into control of the White House, House and Senate. You've been warned.

Shocking Investigation Finds CIA Contractor Moved Migrant Children Across America
[ZERO] "The disastrous border policies of the Biden-Harris Administration are only one dimension of the US Federal government's complicity in the mass trafficking of children. The entire migration pipeline from South America up to the US Southern border is controlled by networks of human traffickers who funnel tens of thousands of alien children into the United States every year. For many alien children, crossing the US Southern border is only the beginning of their problems," Muckraker's Anthony Rubin said in a bombshell report titled "Finding The Feds' Missing Children | CHILD TRAFFICKING IN AMERICA."
We move cargo. All types of cargo.
On August 19th, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security announced that they had lost track of over 300,000 children. But what exactly does this mean?

Since 2021, an average of 400 unaccompanied children have been smuggled into the United States every day.

These children, who cross into the United States without parents, are subsequently detained, processed by the federal government's unaccompanied children program and eventually released into the country.

Per the DHS' August 19th announcement, 291,000 of the 300,000 unaccounted-for children were released into the United States without a scheduled court date, while another 32,000, who were given court dates, never showed up for their scheduled court appearance.

In June of 2024, an insider from the department of Health and Human Services provided Muckraker with a list detailing the names of over 8,000 alien children, and their last known addresses. So, we began an operation to find the missing children ourselves.

Over the course of our investigation, we discovered the dangerous places where children have been delivered, confronted a CIA contractor who moves these children, heard shocking stories from children who the federal government has lost track of, and exposed a child trafficking network in Florida.

“I will pursue the type of reporting on the internet that has become increasingly difficult to do in corporate media,” Lorenz wrote on Substack to introduce her new project.

Lorenz attended a White House conference in August and had posted a picture of herself to some of her followers on Instagram, with Biden in the background and the text “War criminal :(” After a New York Post reporter posted a screenshot, Lorenz posted a message saying “you people will fall for any dumbass edit someone makes.”

NPR subsequently wrote that four people with direct knowledge of the post confirmed that it was authentic. The Post said it would review the matter; Lorenz has not written for the paper since then, the Post wrote on Tuesday.

“We are grateful for the work Taylor has produced at The Washington Post,” a newspaper spokesperson said. “She has resigned to pursue a career in independent journalism, and we wish her the best.”

It has been clear for some time, the Mostly Socialist Media (MSM) has become a propaganda machine for the Left Wing DC Cartel.

How about we demand there be a INDEPENDENT Voter Group that "oversees" the Debates based on a clearly defined set of rules and then follow them?

If Not, then give the candidates their own mute button for the Moderators comments.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Current information on the situation on the front line: October 1 (updated)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[NewsFront] 21:35 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

Pokrovsk-Kurakhovskoye direction: offensive on Selidovo and successes of the Russian Armed Forces in the Tsukurino area.

– Russian troops are working to liberate territories of the Donetsk People's Republic on a section of the front with a total length of more than 80 kilometers. The most significant advances are recorded both on the northern flanks and southeast of Kurakhovo.

– West of Novotoretske, the Russian Armed Forces' assault aircraft pushed the enemy to the right bank of the Kazeny Torets River, and in the Grodovka area they broke through the Ukrainian Armed Forces' defense, taking two large strongholds. Now the Russian army has an open path to Moskovskoe and Mirnograd located beyond it.

– Further south, during the fighting on the Nikolaevka-Sukhoi Yar line, units of the Russian Armed Forces advanced west of the Novogrodovskaya mine, gaining a foothold in the forest belt on the approaches to Lysovka.

According to some reports, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have also lost control over the Novogrodovskaya mine No. 2 waste heap, but this information has not yet been confirmed by objective control personnel.

– West of Marinovka, an armored group of Russian troops attacked Ukrainian formations along the M-30 highway at the northern entrance to Selidovo. And on the southern outskirts of the city, paratroopers of the Russian Armed Forces landed near the city hospital, where they had previously failed to gain a foothold.

- At the same time, Russian troops have started fighting on the southern outskirts of Tsukurino and in the area of the St. Basil the Great mine. At the same time, the Russian Armed Forces are driving the enemy out of the forest belts along the railway, advancing from the Selidovskaya mine and launching attacks from the direction of Ukrainsk.

– To the south, the Russian Armed Forces have driven the Ukrainian Armed Forces from their positions between Ostroy and neighboring Maksimilyanovka, creating the preconditions for reaching the northern outskirts of the latter. At the same time, strikes continue against the few Ukrainian Armed Forces groups remaining in Ostroy, and unmanned aircraft are systematically destroying enemy equipment and infrastructure facilities in the Kurakhovo area.

– The situation in the fields to the west of Nevel'skoye has become somewhat clearer, from where no reports or footage had been received for a long time. And the published statements by certain media outlets about the occupation of this area by the Russian Armed Forces fighters caused a certain skepticism, especially against the backdrop of the repeated “liberation on the Internet” of the settlement.

– Nevertheless, in light of the incoming information about the advance of Russian troops in the lowland near Zhelanny Pervy and the Btory of the same name, we can talk about the long-awaited occupation of the fields to the west of Nevelskoye, although with the assumption of a focal presence of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

20:50 Chronology changes in the LBS and the liberation of territory by the VOSTOK group in the Ugledar direction from September 1 to September 30, 2024.

During this period, the Far Eastern units actively advanced in the Prechistovka area and towards Zolotaya Niva, broke through the enemy's defenses in the Vodyanoye area and then entered the territory of Yuzhnodonbasskaya mines No. 1 and No. 3.

Units of the Russian 68th Army Corps advanced in the direction of Katerinovka. Later, units of the 29th and 36th armies and the marines quickly broke through to the north and began to encircle Ugledar.

17:44 Russian military struck a building in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka in the Kherson region using an Iskander missile, where a meeting of the leadership of the 37th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was taking place.

Up to 60 command personnel, three minibuses and 12 cars were destroyed, the Ministry of Defense reported.

17:01 Telegram channel «Fisherman»:

South Donetsk direction: liberation of Ugledar, advance of the Russian Armed Forces to Katerinovka.

– The Russian army has liberated Ugledar, as evidenced by the mass appearance of footage of Russian Armed Forces soldiers on the roofs of multi-story buildings and administration buildings with Russian flags and the Victory banner.

– Flags are already flying at the addresses Molodezhnaya 9 and 10, and on the garage cooperative on the western outskirts of the city on Molodezhnaya 16 – a marines’ vest. In the east and in the center, the banners have been raised on houses 19, 23 and 25 on 13 Desantnikov Street. In the center, the administration buildings and the multi-story building on Trifonova 26 are occupied.

- At the same time, scattered enemy groups may remain in the city, the mop up has not yet been completed. In addition, there are several places in the city where the local population is hiding, they still need to be removed.

- This is not the only area where the advance of the Russian Armed Forces is recorded. On the Katerinovka-Konstantinovka line, Russian attack aircraft advanced north of the Solyonenkaya gully, taking several forest belts, and, in fact, reaching the outskirts of Katerinovka.

16:48 Novomikhaylovka – Konstantinovka.

Active military actions in the Novomikhaylovka area. Attack of the Russian Armed Forces by an armored column south of Konstantinovka along the Ugledar-Konstantinovka highway. Overcoming minefields. Expansion of the Russian Armed Forces control zone west of Novomikhaylovka to 400 meters.

Two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region by air defense systems on duty.

11:44 Krivoy Rog.

A single powerful explosion thundered at a military industrial enterprise in the suburbs of Krivoy Rog. The strike was carried out by our Iskander OTRK missile.

10:38 Ugledar.

RF Armed Forces strengthen control over the eastern and western outskirts of the city. The enemy continues to maintain a presence in the central part of the city, relying on high-rise buildings. The exit from the city to the north through the plantings is not cut off, but is under fire control; small enemy groups continue to suffer losses when attempting to leave Ugledar.

The rapid collapse of positions on the western outskirts of the city indicates that the organized defense of Ugledar is in the process of disintegrating into focal points of resistance.

10:18 Dzerzhinsk – Nakhalovka.

Positional military actions in the Gorlovka area. The forward position of the Russian Armed Forces in the residential area of Dzerzhinsk came under fire from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russian Armed Forces expanded the control zone in the direction of the Tsentralnaya mine to 200 meters along Tsentralnaya Street.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel makes history, the US tries to freeze it
[IsraelNationalNews] A saying falsely attributed to an ancient Chinese curse states, "May you live in interesting times." But nothing was stated about exciting times. Israelis are experiencing both following the Iranian attack consisting of nearly 200 ballistic missiles this evening. Thankfully, the vast majority of these dangerous missiles were intercepted and there are no reports of direct casualties incurred, a fact which cannot be said for Iran’s Hezbollah proxy.

Two weeks ago today, the dismantling of the world’s most powerful and dangerous terrorist organization began with the explosion of thousands of pagers Hezbollah distributed to its operatives. It is unclear how many terrorists were killed, but thousands were wounded, with many losing eyes, hands, and other body parts.

Beyond the casualties inflicted on Hezbollah, the disruption to the terror group’s communications network and the psychological impact were even more devastating. Hezbollah was reeling, cut off at the knees, and Israel had not launched a single aircraft yet.

The next day, the same thing happened to Hezbollah’s walkie-talkies, killing and maiming even more of its terrorists and proving that no Hezbollah communication devices were safe.

’Operation Grim Beeper,’ as this intelligence coup was dubbed online, was a success of historic proportions. Never had so many terrorists been targeted at once with so little collateral damage. Never had a terrorist organization been so thoroughly compromised and humiliated.

Of course, the usual detractors tried to downplay the impact of the beeper and walkie-talkie blasts and to criticize Israel for it. Squad members like Alexandira Ocasio-Cortez tried unsuccessfully to argue that it violated international law, while others claimed that the apparent fact that a small number of civilians were affected, a tiny percentage of the Hezbollah terrorists who were killed and maimed, delegitimized the entire operation.

The New York Times published a piece citing so-called "experts" who claimed that the blasts were merely a tactical success with no long-term strategic benefit. This might have been true if Israel listened to the US and French governments and did not act to take advantage of Hezbollah’s weakened state. Fortunately, Israel ignored their orders.

On Friday, September 20, the leaders of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force were meeting together in Beirut to plan an October 7-style invasion and massacre in northern Israel. These terror leaders were forced to meet in person due to the destruction of so many communication devices and Hezbollah’s inability to trust whatever communications devices remained to them. This proved to be their undoing, as an Israeli airstrike took out 12 Radwan commanders, including its highest-ranking leader, Ibrahim Aqil, a terrorist who directed the 1983 bombing of the US barracks in Beirut.

From then on, Hezbollah’s leadership has been systematically erased from existence. Ibrahim Qubaisi, commander of Hezbollah’s rocket array and mastermind of the 2000 terrorist attack on Mount Dov in which three IDF soldiers were ambushed, murdered, and abducted. Muhammad Hussein Srour, the commander of Hezbollah's aerial unit. Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah’s southern front. And many more.

Then, on Friday, Israel caught the biggest fish of all. Hassan Nasrallah, the monster who led Hezbollah for more than three decades, finally got his just deserts when he was killed in his own headquarters in the Beirut area.

As former White House adviser Jared Kushner noted,"Over the past six weeks or so, Israel has eliminated as many terrorists on the US list of wanted terrorists as the US has done in the last 20 years."

While Hezbollah’s leadership was being eliminated, its arsenal was being destroyed as well. Since the Second Lebanon War in 2006, Hezbollah had amassed 150,000 rockets and missiles, including thousands of precision-guided missiles, as well as thousands of attack drones. In thousands of airstrikes, the IAF has destroyed much of this capability, from destroying ballistic missiles hidden in people’s homes to warehouses full of missile launchers near Beirut’s International Airport.

The result of all of this, the destruction of Hezbollah’s communications network, the elimination of Nasrallah and nearly the entire senior Hezbollah leadership, and the degradation of its rocket arsenal, is that Hezbollah has been unable to carry out the threat the world feared for years of launching thousands of rockets a day at Israel and causing hundreds or even thousands of casualties.

There have been daily barrages, as there have been since the October 7 massacre, but the only Israeli fatality has been a 17-year-old boy who was tragically killed in a traffic accident that resulted from the Red Alert sirens. Thank God, there has been no repeat of the Majdal Shams Massacre in July, when 12 Druze children were murdered in a Hezbollah rocket attack. The number of rockets fired each day has been in the low hundreds, not the thousands and the IDF is destroying them.

Military historians will be studying the IDF’s successes in the last half of September 2024 for centuries to come. To inflict this much damage on a military force as strong as Hezbollah in such a short time without a single boot on the ground is unheard of. To accomplish so much without suffering a single direct casualty is miraculous. Hezbollah was more powerful than many nations just two weeks ago, and now it is crippled in more ways than one.

...Unfortunately, while Israel has been making history, the American government has been attempting to freeze history and return to the status quo of October 6, 2023.

At every step, the Biden Administration has opposed Israel’s acts of self-defense in Lebanon. The absorption of more than 8,000 rockets in less than a year, having more than 60,000 civilians evacuated from their homes for 12 months, and having 12 children murdered by Hezbollah is apparently not enough for the US government to acknowledge that the Hezbollah threat need to be dealt with. From the start, America has been attempting to save Hezbollah from destruction, never mind that the terrorist organization has had the blood of hundreds of Americans on its hands. In absurd defiance of logic and common sense, America’s actions over the last two weeks have not been to support the bringing to justice of terrorists on whose heads the US has placed bounties worth millions of dollars for their roles in the mass murder of Americans, but to save the lives of its enemies.

For the last 30 years, Iran has been attempting to surround Israel in a "ring of fire" of terrorist proxies, all ready to sacrifice the civilians of their host countries to destroy Israel and to launch massive assaults on the Jewish State if Israel takes any action against Iran’s nuclear program. Now Israel has the opportunity to eliminate the two linchpins in this ring of fire, Hamas and Hezbollah, and to ensure that neither can reemerge as a threat.

Keep making history, Israel.

Hurricane Helene kills multiple workers at Tennessee plastics factory 'after bosses warned them not to leave'
[Daily Mail where America gets its news] Multiple employees inside a Tennessee plastic factory have died after being told by their bosses not to evacuate during Hurricane Helene, according to a worker.

Impact Plastics in Erwin, Tennessee, confirmed that there had been fatalities at their plant after Friday's extreme weather - but haven't revealed how many people had been killed.

Two people are said to have died, with up to five still missing.

Employee Bertha Mendoza, 56, has since been confirmed as one of those who had died in the floods, according to a fundraising page. Alexa Peterson told NBC News that her father Johnny was among those who had died. She told the outlet she was seeking legal representation.

Jacob Ingram, a mold changer at the company, told the Knoxville News Sentinel that as the flooding began, mangers told employees to move their cars but wouldn't let them leave.

Ingram said: 'They should've evacuated when we got the flash flood warnings, and when they saw the parking lot. When we moved our cars, we should've evacuated then.'

It emerges as the death toll from the brutal Hurricane which swept the southeast last week passed 150 people.

Footage shared by Ingram on his social media shows dark brown muddy water running through the company's parking lot.

Large pickup trucks can be seen bobbing up and down inside the fast flowing floodwaters.

Among the worst-affected areas is the North Carolina city of Asheville, which sits in a valley and which has so-far seen around 50 people confirmed as dead.

President Joe Biden was set to survey the devastation in the region Wednesday.

Rescuers are still continuing their efforts to make contact with hundreds of people who are cut off by washed-out roads and downed communication lines.

Images of the destruction caused by the hurricane reveal a wasteland of splintered houses, crushed cargo containers, mud-covered highways, and collapsed communication lines.

Damage estimates ranged from $15billion to more than $100billion, insurers and forecasters said over the weekend, as water systems, communications and critical transportation routes were affected.

Property damage and lost economic output will become clearer as officials assess the destruction.

At a news conference on Tuesday, North Carolina governor Roy Cooper said: 'Communities were wiped off the map'.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Putin just announced Russia's own Monroe Doctrine
[RT] The president has cleared up any ambiguity about how Moscow will respond to any new threats in its backyard

On September 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced updates to the Foundations of State Policy of the Russian Federation in the Area of Nuclear Deterrence. The revised document implies that under certain conditions, Moscow may consider a proxy war against itself as justification for using nuclear weapons.

SALAMI TACTICS
Traditional nuclear deterrence doctrines date back to the Cold War and were developed with major world powers and military alliances in mind. The underlying assumption is that large states are unlikely to attack a nuclear power, since they risk facing a massive retaliatory strike.

However, the conflict in Ukraine has created a new and unprecedented reality: The West is waging war against Russia through a proxy state that shows little regard for its own self-preservation. At least under the grip of its current leadership.

Kiev actively attacks Russia’s historic territories. Incidents that have happened “for the first time since World War Two” are regularly reported in the news: e.g., a regional center being shelled in Russia, military facilities attacked in Volga Region or in the Kuban, or German-made tanks crossing into Kursk Region.

There have also been rumors of attacks on sites of Russia’s strategic nuclear forces. Such aggression is officially recognized as triggers for a nuclear response. Whether or not these rumors are true, this behavior is perfectly in line with the logic of Kiev and its Western sponsors. The goal is to use isolated drone strikes conducted by a proxy force to undermine Russia’s nuclear doctrine – or, speaking in IT terms, to hack it by means of a ‘zero-day exploit’.

After all, would Putin really start a nuclear war over one drone crashing near a strategic bomber base? What about two drones? Or ten? Or perhaps a couple of drones combined with a Western-made cruise missile?

This exemplifies classic ‘salami slicing tactics’: gradually pressuring the opponent, forcing them to change their strategic position without providing sufficient grounds for the opponent to deploy their primary (in Russia’s case – nuclear) forces.

STAYING BEHIND THE LINES
The only real red line between Russia and the West – and specifically, between Moscow and Washington – is something that would force one side to dramatically escalate the conflict.

Both the Kremlin and the White House are currently adhering to the so-called limited war strategy. Why? Because Russia can’t afford to shoot itself in the head because of Ukraine, and in a similar way, the West doesn’t want to blow itself up because of Russia. Any dramatic escalation could result in such an outcome, making the situation unpredictable even without the use of nuclear weapons.

Neither Russia nor the US desires an escalation in the conflict. Rather, both are aiming to keep it within its current boundaries. It’s like in the fable about the snake and the turtle: if one side makes a sudden move, the other is forced to respond, which could lead to dire consequences. For Russia, an escalation means mobilizing all resources, a situation that is fraught with peril for the nation. For the West, escalation means directly intervening, with no guarantee of success and a high risk of heavy losses or even a nuclear exchange.

For now, Russia has imposed a war of attrition on its adversary. Clearly, the Kremlin believes that this strategy has a better chance of working out

The US seems to understand this and wants to disrupt the Kremlin’s plan by increasing the costs but keeping everything within its present boundaries. This is why it resorts to so-called salami tactics.

Some experts believe that the ban on long-range missile strikes deep into Russian territory is the only real agreement that exists between Putin and [US President Joe] Biden. It’s not that such strikes would significantly change things, but this serves as a benchmark, a point of reference that is more or less understandable to both sides.

If you try to destroy us by means of a proxy force, we will destroy both the proxy and you

However, changes are about to happen in the White House. If the aforementioned agreements indeed exist, the Kremlin cannot be certain that the next administration will adhere to them.

This is why Russia needed to send a clear signal to the West (and to the whole world) about the current situation and how Russia will respond to various actions taken by the West.

Firstly, Moscow will not consider using nuclear weapons as long as it maintains the military initiative. Thus the likelihood of using nuclear weapons depends on its military success: if victory isn’t possible by conventional means, a nuclear strike becomes an option.

Secondly, because of this, Russia’s primary opponent (the US) cannot wage war against Russia directly and cannot arm the proxy state to such an extent as would change the course of the conflict. Therefore, the US must stay on the sidelines, watching as its proxy gradually loses the war. In this regard, nuclear deterrence is currently effective against the US and the West, at least until the administration in Washington changes. Putin’s new doctrine serves as a message and a warning to Biden’s successor.

Thirdly, the proxy state (Ukraine) is trying to find Russia’s weak spots and inflict a painful blow. As the situation on the front worsens for the Ukrainian forces, they may resort to more desperate measures, such as launching attacks on strategic missile deployment sites. These actions could potentially be effective. Will this provoke a nuclear response from Russia? Almost certainly not. The Kremlin is not considering a nuclear attack on Ukraine.

Why not? Because Ukraine does not pose a significant enough threat to justify starting a nuclear war. Russia can handle Ukraine through conventional means of warfare. And even though some incidents may be quite painful, they don’t change this reality.

Overall, Putin’s doctrine can be summarized as follows:

Fight weaker opponents with conventional forces and use nuclear deterrence to prevent major powers from intervening in ways that could turn these weaker opponents into serious threats.

Or, put simply: Russia will ensure its security as it sees fit, using the nuclear shield to deter anyone who might try to interfere.

Meanwhile, Ukraine serves as a vivid example of the fate that will befall any nation that wages war against Russia: it will be devastated, its industry and infrastructure will be destroyed, and it will suffer a demographic and economic collapse; as for the West, it will offer empty words of support, but in practice will push its proxy into the abyss.

One of the outcomes of Russia’s military operation should be a growing awareness among neighboring countries that looking for a fight with Moscow is a bad idea, and that NATO won’t be able to protect them.

Furthermore, the West must recognize that by inciting Russia’s neighbors to wage war against it, it risks prompting a nuclear war.

That is an approach James Monroe would certainly have approved of.

Israel vows vengeance after 'defeated and ineffective' Iranian ballistic missile attack that resulted in only 3 casualties
[NYPOST] Israel has vowed vengeance after Iran

The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. Despite this attack having more impact than the earlier strike in April — a Jewish school was among the places badly damaged — there were very few casualities. Only two Israelis were maimed and the only death was a Paleostinian man in the West Bank who was cruashed by an intercepted missile fuselage.

"The blasts were incredibly loud and intense, shaking the walls and windows," he said. "This was the first time I truly felt afraid, and the booms were unlike anything I had experienced before."

We eliminated 300 Boko Haram, other banditry groups' commanders - Tinubu - Vanguard News
[VANGUARDNGR] President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday said that Nigerian security forces have eliminated more than 300 commanders of the Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
terrorist group in the last year.

Also eliminated are many commanders of other banditry groups, especially in the North-West and North-East.

Tinubu gave the security update in his National Broadcast to mark the nation's 64th Independence Anniversary.

''I am happy to announce to you, my compatriots, that our administration is winning the war on terror and banditry.

''Our target is to eliminate all the threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and the scourge of all forms of violent mostly peaceful extremism.

''Within one year, our government has eliminated Boko Haram and bandit commanders faster than ever.

''As of the last count, over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our gallant troops in the Northeast, Northwest, and some other parts of the country.

''We have restored peace to hundreds of communities in the North, and thousands of our people have been able to return home.

''It is an unfinished business which our security agencies are committed to ending as quickly as possible.

''As soon as we can restore peace to many communities in the troubled parts of the North, our farmers can return to their farms.

''We expect to see a leap in food production and a downward spiral in food costs. I promise you, we shall not falter on this,'' he said.

Israeli Genies to Target Iran's Nukes?
[PJ Media via Insty] How chaotic is the situation for the Islamists, really? Iranian cleric, Mostafa Karami, who regularly serves as a mouthpiece for the mullahs' regime, said on Iranian state television this weekend, "Considering the Zionists' history of subjugating genies, they carry out many of their missions through this means, and demons are their secret army."

Nasrallah was killed by Jewish genies? OK, boss.

Tehran is torn over how to respond. The New York Times reported on Sunday that "fissures have opened within the Iranian government over how to respond to [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah’s killing, with conservatives arguing for a forceful response and the moderates, led by Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, calling for restraint... state television, run by [his opponent in the election] Jalili’s affiliates, called for Iran to strike Israel, in open defiance of Ayatollah Khamenei’s caution. "

Jared Kushner — one of the two peacemakers behind the Trump administration's historic Abraham Accords — posted a thoughtful essay to X on Saturday urging Israel to "finish the job." He explained that "The reason why [Iran's] nuclear facilities have not been destroyed, despite weak air defense systems, is because Hezbollah has been a loaded gun pointed at Israel."

France to increase military support to Lebanese Army
[Reuters] French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Noel Barrot again urged Israel on Monday not to undertake any ground invasion of Lebanon, adding France will step up its support for the Lebanese army.
Bless their loving hearts.
"I (...) urge Israel to refrain from any ground incursion and to cease fire. I call on Hezbollah to do the same and to refrain from any action likely to lead to regional destabilisation," Barrot told reporters while visiting Lebanon.

Israel has hit Lebanon with a two-week wave of attacks, eliminating Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah and several commanders but also killing around 1,000 Lebanese and forcing 1 million to flee their homes. Hezbollah has pledged to confront any Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon.

The liberation of Ugledar is an important operational success of Russian troops and one of the main victories in the 2024 campaign. Remember today those who fell in the battles for the city, which lasted almost 2.5 years.

Telegraph: Hundreds of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters may be surrounded by Russian Armed Forces in Ugledar
Hundreds of fighters from Ukrainian formations may be surrounded by Russian troops in the city of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic. This was reported on October 1 by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

According to the authors of the article, the Russian army surrounded the city from three sides, cutting off the Ukrainian militants' escape routes and striking any armored vehicles that the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers try to use to escape from Ugledar.

“Hundreds of Ukrainian fighters could be trapped [in Ugledar] as Russian forces complete the encirclement of the city and advance,” the publication says.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, the Voennoye Delo Telegram channel reported earlier that the Russian Armed Forces had installed the Russian flag in the central part of Ugledar. Russian state flags are also now flying on several buildings in the northwest.

On the same day, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Commission on Sovereignty, Patriotic Projects and Support for Veterans of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, said that Russian troops had already liberated the southern, western and eastern parts of Ugledar from Ukrainian formations. According to him, the city often sees "chaotic flight" of Ukrainian fighters.

On September 30, Sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Stanislav Bunyatov, citing a Ukrainian fighter remaining in Ugledar as part of the 72nd Brigade, wrote that the roads out of the city are littered with the bodies of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters who tried to escape from it. He specified that the Ukrainian military loses from four to six fighters during such attempts.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on October 1 that Russian President Vladimir Putin is receiving direct information on the situation in Ugledar. The Russian leader's press secretary noted that the entire country is following the successes of the Russian military in this area.

Russian Armed Forces officer Odyssey: Ukrainian Armed Forces' superiority in UAVs made storming Ugledar difficult
Offensive actions by units of the Russian Armed Forces in the vicinity of Ugledar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) were complicated by the superiority of Ukrainian troops in drones. This was reported on October 1 by the commander of a rifle regiment with the call sign Odyssey.

“The city is located at a height, and, in addition to the reconnaissance drones constantly hanging in the sky, there were and are still stationary cameras hanging in high-rise buildings,” he noted in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He stressed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces' superiority in unmanned aircraft complicated both offensive operations and logistics and rotation of units.

According to him, the situation has changed dramatically over the past few weeks thanks to the coordinated work of all units and branches of the Russian military. Today, units of the Russian Armed Forces are trying to gain a foothold on the outskirts of Ugledar, the military man added.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on September 25, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin reported that the Russian Armed Forces had entered the territory of Ugledar, and that military operations were taking place within the city limits. Later, Russian security agencies reported that the Russian Armed Forces had blocked the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in Ugledar, taking the only remaining road from the settlement under fire control. It was noted that Russian troops were continuing to tighten the pincers around the city.

On September 30, the chairman of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on sovereignty issues, co-chairman of the coordinating council for the integration of new regions, Vladimir Rogov, stated that units of the Russian Armed Forces had advanced to the center of Ugledar and expanded the zone of control in several parts of the city.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, units of the South and Center military groups liberated Grigorovka, the village of Ostroe, Ukrainsk, and Marinovka in the Donetsk People's Republic during the week from September 21 to 27.

West Bank: Commander of the Nablus Battalion of the Islamic Jihad, Abdel Hakim Shahin, no longer requires oxygen
[X] Israel’s relentless, near-nightly raids since — and before — 10/7 is the reason why the West Bank did not rise up in revolt simultaneous with either the Hamas massacre or the Hezbollah as their Iranian paymasters had planned. Sucks for them.

Four soldiers injured, one seriously in Nablus firefight

[IsraelTimes] 3 other members of Duvdevan unit moderately hurt during battle, gunman killed ; terror operative slain amid series of raids across West Bank, 6 suspects arrested

A commando was seriously wounded during clashes in the West Bank overnight, the Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday, and three other troops in the Duvdevan unit were moderately hurt in a firefight in the Balata refugee camp adjacent to Nablus in the northern West Bank.

Troops had been attempting to make an arrest at a building in the camp as part of an operation that began Sunday night, when they were fired on from inside. One gunman was killed and another wounded, according to the IDF.

Forces found IEDs, a pistol, ammunition, and weapons parts in civilian buildings in the area, including a cafe and stores, the statement said.

Elsewhere, the army said, troops killed a Palestinian accused by Israel of planning and carrying out attacks on troops in the area. A statement from the army said Abed Shaheen had recently attempted to put together a cell to attack soldiers near Nablus. During the operation security forces seized weapons used by the gunman, the statement said. The Palestinian Authority health ministry confirmed Shaheen’s death and said he was 33.

Six suspects were arrested during overnight raids in the northern West Bank town of Silwad, the army said.

Troops also operated in the towns of Dayr Ibzi’ and Kafr Ni’ma and two guns were found in the town of Bani Naim, the IDF said.

The Israeli military intensified its near-daily raids across the West Bank in the aftermath of Hamas’s October 7 attack, in operations aimed at dismantling Palestinian terror groups including Hamas.

Since October 7, troops have arrested some 5,250 wanted Palestinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,050 affiliated with Hamas.

According to the Palestinian Authority health ministry, more than 716 West Bank Palestinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were gunmen killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or terrorists carrying out attacks.

During the same period, 33 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another six members of the security forces were killed in clashes with terror operatives in the West Bank.

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: October 1, 2024
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Worth noting, korrespondent.net has compiled its Invasion of Ukraine series into separate months, beginning May 9th, 2023. Linked in the title
.
[Korrespondent] 21:25 Ukrainian OSINT project DeepState reports that the Russian army has occupied Ugledar in Donetsk Oblast - Russian publics are publishing tricolors hung in all corners of the city.

20:39 Russians shot 16 Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsky direction - an investigation has been launched into another war crime by the Russian army, the Prosecutor General's Office reported. Information about the alleged execution of 16 Ukrainian servicemen appeared in Telegram channels on October 1. According to media reports, the Russian army committed another war crime in the area of the villages of Nikolaevka and Sukhoi Yar in the Pokrovsky district.

The released video shows captured Ukrainian servicemen leaving a forest plantation under enemy control. After they lined up, Russian soldiers deliberately opened fire on them to kill. The wounded, who showed signs of life, were finished off with a burst of machine gun fire at point-blank range. This is the largest known case of the death penalty of Ukrainian prisoners of war on the front line.

20:01 The number of victims as a result of the enemy attack on Zaporizhia has increased to 32 people, 69 apartment buildings and private houses have been damaged and destroyed, reported the head of the OVA Ivan Fedorov.

19:43 Zelensky said that he heard a report from the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kirill Budanov: "About how our intelligence assesses the prospects for this year, Russian intentions, the tasks that the Kremlin sets for its military. We clearly see the main guidelines of what exactly needs to be responded to and how exactly."

19:08 The number of victims as a result of the enemy strike on Zaporizhia has grown to 24, including three children aged between nine and 12 years old, one person died, reported the head of the OVA Ivan Fedorov.

18:12 In occupied Melitopol, near a plant for auto and tractor parts, a VAZ 2110 car exploded, in which there were three Russian servicemen. As reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the operation to eliminate the occupiers involved in the brutal terror of the local population was carried out under the coordination of intelligence by Ukrainian underground fighters, who set up a mine trap.

17:26 New NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has called for not listening to Russia's nuclear threats and said that the allies do not currently see any direct risks of using nuclear weapons. He added that if the world were to make concessions to Putin's threats in general, it would set a dangerous precedent.

Rutte also spoke in favor of allowing Ukraine to strike at Russian territory, but at the same time acknowledged that these should be decisions by individual countries: "Ukraine is waging a war of self-defense. This means that Ukraine has the right to defend itself. And, as we know, under international law, this right does not end at the border. This means supporting Ukraine's right to self-defense. But each ally determines the level of its support for Ukraine. I do not decide this on behalf of the Alliance. The partners decide this."

NATO Secretary General estimated Russia's losses in the war with Ukraine at 500,000 soldiers: "Russian losses are 1,000 killed or wounded soldiers per day. This means that about 500,000 were killed or wounded. This is significant in the context of the continuation of the Russian war."

17:19 Zelensky said that he had heard reports from Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky, and Chief of the General Staff Anatoly Bargilevich. They discussed the situation at the front, the need for weapons and equipment, coordination with allies, and preparations for the Rammstein meeting.

17:11 Forced evacuation of families with children has been announced from 90 settlements of Sumy district, the district council reported. Children will be evacuated from Belopolskaya, Vorozhbyanskaya, Krasnopolskaya, Khotynskaya, Yunakovskaya, Miropolskaya, Nikolayevskaya communities.

17:05 Russians shelled Malaya Tokmachka in Zaporizhia Oblast, one person was killed, reported OVA head Ivan Fedorov.

16:56 Half of the ammunition that the Ukrainian Armed Forces use at the front is of Ukrainian production, Shmyhal said. According to the Prime Minister, the production of domestic weapons has tripled in 2023. The missile program is being implemented, and the country is also reaching significant volumes of production of artillery systems and armored vehicles. By the end of the year, Ukraine will produce 1.5 million drones, Shmyhal said.

"We are not only producing drones, but also training personnel to operate them. Today, the government is launching a pilot project to certify UAV operator schools. We are setting clear requirements for these schools and unifying the educational process. It will be easier for trained drone operators to obtain the appropriate military registration specialty," the prime minister added.

15:58 The Foreign Ministry has denied the Financial Times' information about Sybiha allegedly discussing possible territorial concessions in the war with Russia in New York. According to Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhy, "there were no proposals, discussions or even hints about any territorial compromises at any meeting." On the contrary, according to him, the minister's position is unwavering: "There can be no compromises on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The information from the Financial Times' source about the minister discussing compromises is simply untrue. And we wonder who is interested in spreading such false narratives."

15:21 The Financial Times reports, citing sources, that Biden may advance the status of Ukraine's bid for NATO membership before he leaves office as US President, while Ukraine is now speaking more openly about possible compromises. Thus, Ukrainian officials are discussing a possible ceasefire with their Western counterparts - even if Russian troops remain in the occupied territories. The changes in rhetoric became noticeable at the UN General Assembly meeting in New York. Western diplomats called newly appointed Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga "more pragmatic" than Kuleba on the issue of compromises.

15:09 The government has issued a decree allowing military units to mobilize reservists and conscripts who voluntarily wish to serve during mobilization. In particular, military unit commanders are authorized to issue orders for military training and staff combat units with volunteers. Conscripts and reservists-volunteers can also choose a military unit without contacting the TCC. The list of such military units will be determined by the General Staff.

14:52 In Zaporozhye, the number of victims as a result of today's Russian attack has risen to 21, including a 12-year-old child, one person died, said the head of the OVA Ivan Fedorov.

14:37 One of the people wounded in the Russian attack on Izmail in Odessa Oblast on September 27 has died in hospital, OVA chief Oleg Kiper reported. The attack has brought the total to four victims and ten wounded.

In the western part of the city, the Russians hung out tricolors.

00:17 Ukraine can make its own decisions about strikes with its own weapons on targets in the Russian Federation. In addition, the United States does not prohibit the use of American-made weapons in Russia's border regions, said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller. "Ukraine does not need our permission to carry out retaliatory strikes on Russian targets. It is a sovereign country, and they can use the weapons they have created themselves, and there are a lot of them," he noted. According to Miller, "Ukraine has great potential to defend itself."

64th Anniversary: Boko Haram terrorists abduct 15 farmers in Borno
[VANGUARDNGR] Just hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babagana Zulum assured the nation of adequate security in their broadcasts marking Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary, reports emerged that suspected Boko Haram

It remains unclear whether the incident occurred on Tuesday, as the area suffers from poor telecommunications. Unconfirmed reports indicate that tensions had been rising between gunnies and farmers as crops were nearing harvest in the border communities of Cameroon

and Gwoza.

Sources revealed that five of the kidnapped individuals were killed, along with a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Jubril Dada Zarana, who actively collaborated with security agencies to thwart the attack.

Reliable sources stated: ''We sorrowfully announce the abduction of about 15 farmers, including children, women, the young, and the elderly, by Boko Haram gunnies in Ngoshe, Gwoza LGA.

''The attack also resulted in the deaths of CJTF member Jubril Dada Zarana and five civilians.

''The gunnies ambushed the farmers while they were engaged in their agricultural activities. The security forces, including the army and CJTF, made efforts to protect the community but could not hold off the attackers for long.

''Jubril Dada Zarana was killed honorably while defending his people, and the other victims were taken alive.

''After the gunnies transported the victims to their base, they mercilessly slaughtered five individuals: Isa Musa Moh'd Diyara, Doglas, Salawuddin Suleman Dauda Lawan, Maryam Gwambran, Matan Kaka Mobil Aga, and Baba Amos.

''Later, the gunnies released three women captives, who reported that the remaining victims, including Anna Andrew Gadzawaga, Hauwa Braga, and two unidentified boys, were still held hostage.

''Additionally, some of the missing victims include Babawo Kanin Shagari, Ummi Trabos, and Babson Yaron Teacher, among others.

The attack took place in the Ashigashia locality.

"They came early on Tuesday morning with guns and shot the civilians. The gunnies also kidnapped one person," the source told Xinhua.

The region has witnessed renewed attacks on civilians, recording more than 10 incidents in the last two weeks, according to security reports. Last week, local officials announced that additional troops would be deployed to the remote areas of the region to secure people and property.

Boko Haram has been operating in Cameroon's Far North region since 2014.

RSF, Joint Force clash in North Darfur, both sides claim victory - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said on Tuesday they had destroyed a large convoy of armed movements in North Darfur, inflicting heavy casualties. A commander in the joint force opposing the RSF denied this, saying they had routed the RSF and forced them to flee.

The clash near Malha is the latest in a series of battles for control of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, which has been under RSF siege since April. The Joint Force, comprising the army allied groups, has mobilised fighters in the region, some from as far afield as Libya, to break the siege.

The RSF said in a statement that its forces had ''crushed a mobile force consisting of hundreds of combat vehicles'' belonging to the armed movements, killing over 450 fighters and capturing over 137 vehicles.

However, a commander in the Joint Force dismissed this claim. He told Sudan Tribune that they had ''inflicted an unprecedented defeat on the RSF'', destroying dozens of vehicles and capturing ''tens of soldiers''.

He said the RSF had been forced to retreat towards Mellit and that the Joint Force convoy was continuing towards El Fasher.

The fighting in North Darfur is part of a broader conflict that erupted in Sudan in May between the RSF and the army. The RSF has already seized control of four of Darfur's five states.

That knucklehead Tim Walz says the silliest things: about being at Tiananmen Square and bragging about immigration overwhelming MN schools

Walz says he 'misspoke,' has been 'knucklehead' about Tiananmen Square lie (Video)

[NYPOST] Tim Walz was pressed on why he falsely said he was in Hong Kong during the pro-democracy protests at Tiananmen Square in 1989 -- something that was unearthed just hours before the debate.

Walz said he "hasn't been perfect" and was a "knuckle head at times," before saying he sometimes gets "caught up in the rhetoric."

Multiple outlets have reported that Walz was actually in Nebraska during the 1989 protests -- not in China, where he finally went that August, after the protests were crushed by the Chinese military.

Walz said he "misspoke" about that claim when asked a followup question.

And from Besoeker, this:
Tim Walz Bragged of Mass Immigration Overwhelming Small Minnesota Town's Schools with 50 Languages: ‘Beautiful Diversity'

[Breitbart] Gov. Tim Walz (D), Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, once bragged about mass immigration overwhelming a small town in southern Minnesota — calling the situation an example of "beautiful diversity."

In late 2019, Breitbart News reported extensively on Worthington, Minnesota. With fewer than 14,000 residents, the town’s taxpayers were forced to hike taxes to the sum of tens of millions to expand the school district because of a rapid increase in migrant children enrolling.

Much of that mass immigration in Worthington is the result of the federal government’s Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) program and the fact that a JBS Pork slaughterhouse attracts newly arrived migrants to the area.

Arabia
Yemeni Armed Forces confirm multiple military operations in Red Sea, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea - for only 2 ships
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] In a series of recent statements, the Yemeni Armed Forces have confirmed the launch of multiple military operations across strategic waterways, including the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea.

The operations, they say, are in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements and in response to the U.S. and British aggression against Yemen which recently had targeted Hodeidah, killing and injuring dozens of citizens.

The Yemeni Armed Forces spokesperson, Brigadier General Yahya Sare'e, revealed that the first operation targeted the British oil tanker CORDELIA MOON in the Red Sea, with the ship reportedly struck by a combination of eight ballistic and cruise missiles, a drone, and a guided boat. The attack resulted in significant damage to the vessel.
*Blink* I realize I know nothing about such things, but that seems to lean toward overkill…
The second operation focused on the vessel MARATHOPOLIS in the Indian Ocean, which was hit by a cruise missile. A follow-up operation targeted the same vessel again as it sailed through the Arabian Sea, northeast of Yemen's Socotra Archipelago. This third strike involved a drone, which reportedly caused a direct hit.
And that sounds like poor shooting, if a cruise missile couldn’t close the deal.
The Yemeni Armed Forces framed these military actions as part of a broader effort to support the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples in their struggles. ''Our operations are a response to the American and British aggression against our country and are in support of the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements,'' the spokesperson said.

They also announced their intent to maintain a naval blockade on Israel, stating that their operations would continue until the aggression on Gaza is halted, the siege is lifted, and the attacks on Lebanon cease.

The escalation marks a significant shift in Yemen's regional strategy, adding a new dimension to the ongoing conflict in the region.
The Times of Israel tells an odd tale, which may be the about first ship or another one:
A suspected attack Tuesday by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a ship in the Red Sea, likely marking their first assault on commercial shipping in weeks as the Israel-Hamas war threatens to become a regional conflict.

The attack Tuesday morning took place some 110 kilometers (70 miles) off the port city of Hodeida in the Red Sea, which has become a battlefield since the Houthis began targeting ships traveling through a waterway that once saw $1 trillion a year of cargo pass through it, saying they were doing so in support of Gaza.

A captain on a ship saw four “splashes” near his vessel, the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said in a warning Tuesday. That likely would have been missiles or drones launched at the vessel.

“All crew are safe and the vessel is proceeding to (its) next port of call,” the UKMTO said.

The Houthis did not immediately claim the attack. However, they sometimes take hours or days to acknowledge one of their assaults.
Update at 2:50 a.m. ET from a post in yesterday’s Israel Times liveblog:
Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched an explosive-loaded drone that crashed into one ship today in the Red Sea and a missile that exploded against another.

The first attack took place some 110 kilometers (70 miles) off the port city of Hodeida and targeted the Panama-flagged oil tanker Cordelia Moon, the multinational Joint Maritime Information Center says. A captain on a ship saw four “splashes” near the vessel, the center overseen by the US Navy says. That likely would have been missiles launched at the vessel that missed.

The drone boat later damaged the Cordelia Moon, which sustained a puncture to one of its ballast tanks in the attack. Those tanks control a ship’s buoyancy. Houthi strikes in the past have targeted ships at their waterline to disable the vessels.

Drone boats have been increasingly used by the Houthis. The ship had been heading north to the Suez Canal with armed private security guards aboard, the private security firm Ambrey says.

Another attack with a missile targeted a separate ship also heading north to the Suez Canal with armed security on board, Ambrey says.

Houthi military spokesperson Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree later claims the two attacks in a prerecorded message. He names the second vessel, though it does not match against another name circulated by private security officials. The discrepancy could not be immediately reconciled.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Russian Perspective: US financing of the war
Direct Translation via Google Translate.
[Rusvesna] When a state wages a war that escalates into a major or very major war, military expenditures are financed from the current state budget, then by increasing military expenditures in the state budget and by increasing taxes, by increasing the state debt and/or inflation - the issuance of money to finance state expenditures.

Some examples from history.

The American Congress during the American Revolution financed military expenditures with congressional notes, which were used to pay for supplies for the army; private money and promissory notes were also used.

Revolutionary France - the most difficult situation with state finances before the revolution. In 1787, the budget expenditures of royal France on interest payments and repayment of the state debt amounted to 49% of all expenses. Another 26% was taken by the army and navy and 6% - by the maintenance of the royal court.

Revolutionary France began printing paper money, and this emission sharply increased inflation. At the same time, the national debt grew, which was eventually simply cancelled by two-thirds by the Thermidorian government.

Napoleon's military expenditures were financed largely by increasing taxes and contributions from the occupied countries of Europe, about 10% of Napoleon's military expenditures were financed by new government loans, the placement of which was extremely difficult after the cancellation of previous government debts. The military budget under Napoleon constituted 67% of all government budget expenditures, and budget debts by 1814 constituted approximately 50% of the budget.

The German government financed military expenses at the beginning of the 20th century by simultaneously issuing (during the war the number of German marks in circulation increased 5 times) and sharply increasing the national debt. After the end of the war, Germany experienced a period of huge hyperinflation and the circulation of private money in addition to the state money.

This list can be continued. Now in many countries of the world in recent months and years, due to military actions in Ukraine and the Middle East, there has been a sharp increase in military budgets, an increase in the emission of national currencies, taxes and government debts.

In the next two weeks, final financial statements will be released in the United States (where the fiscal year ends on September 30), as well as statements for the first three quarters of 2024 in the rest of the world.

An analysis of these financial statements will allow conclusions to be drawn about the financial stability or instability of warring countries and countries that are significantly involved in these wars.

One should not expect any major changes in the US annual budget figures that will appear after September 30, since no major changes in financial, spending or tax policies have occurred in the US in recent months, and financing has been carried out in the mode of three- or six-month financing of the federal budget in the current mode.

That is, practically within the parameters of the 2023 budget, which in turn means an increase in financial problems, an increase in the US national debt, which already amounts to over 35 trillion dollars, an increase in the amount of interest on servicing this national debt to somewhere around 1 trillion US dollars per year with the total amount of all government revenues being around 4.5 trillion dollars per year, which, in turn, means that for the US it is approaching technical bankruptcy in about 8-10 years.

The most interesting data from an analytical point of view should be sought in the data on the execution of the state budget of the State of Israel, which has increased sharply over the past year in terms of military expenditures, not supported by a corresponding increase in income in the context of the declining situation of the Israeli economy associated with the war (a decline in tourism, the withdrawal from the productive sector of about 400 thousand citizens called up for military service, and so on).

Accordingly, the Israeli government sharply increased the size of the national debt, which led to a sharp drop (by two points at once) in the credit rating of the State of Israel according to the rating agency Moody's.

There is no point in analyzing Ukraine’s budget; the country is essentially in a state of technical bankruptcy and is unable to fully pay interest on the national debt or repay the national debt.

The leading countries of Western Europe - England, Germany and France - are not themselves engaged in military action, but they also found themselves in a situation of a sharp increase in the deficit of state budgets and growth of state debt due to the growth of prices for energy, fertilizers, raw materials, as well as due to the huge increase in social spending on migrants.

At the same time, they are still trying to maintain a high level of support for Ukraine, spending their last financial and material resources on a hopeless battle with Russia.

Once the official financial reporting data of these countries appears somewhere in the first or second half of October, it will be possible to conduct precise analyses and draw more precise conclusions, but it can already be said that, since the leaders of all these countries continue to fight or support military actions in Ukraine and the Middle East, they continue to ruin the finances and economies of their countries in favor of unrealistic goals of wars instead of trying to stop them.

The main objective of such analyses is usually to forecast how long the pre-war financial strength of the warring countries will last, how long they will be able to finance intensive military actions. In the countries we are considering, this financial strength is clearly declining.

Pentagon awards Boeing contract to build bombs for Ukraine
[RT] Kiev has reportedly altered its MiG-29 fighters specifically to deploy the GBU-39B Small Diameter Bomb

The US Department of Defense has signed a major deal with Boeing for the supply of Small Diameter Bombs (SDB). The $6.9-billion contract will include deliveries for “foreign military sales” to Ukraine, Japan and Bulgaria, it said in a statement.

The small-diameter ‘Increment One’ bombs, also known as GBU-39B, will be manufactured at Boeing’s plant at St Louis, Missouri, with the contract due to be completed by December 2035. The announcement was made along with a raft of new Pentagon deals totaling over $33 billion.

In service since 2006, the 113-kilogram (approximately 250lbs), precision-guided glide bombs can arm several types of aircraft, with future integration planned for unmanned air systems. The munitions are designed to attack fixed and stationary targets, such as fuel depots and bunkers.

Ukraine has received GBU-39B Small Diameter Bombs from Washington in the past. According to various reports, Kiev has modified its MiG-29 fighters to be able to carry eight of the weapons.

Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Korea and Australia, among others, have previously purchased SDBs from the US.

Last week, US President Joe Biden announced another $8 billion in military aid for Ukraine during Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky’s visit to Washington to promote his so-called ‘victory plan.’

The Zelensky plan was met with a “tepid reception,” according to the Wall Street Journal, which reported on Monday that the Ukrainian leader was unable to convince his American backers to agree to his primary request and allow Kiev to use US weapons to strike targets deep inside Russia.

While the US has continued to provide billions in military support for Kiev, the Biden administration is still “wary of making moves that Moscow could perceive as escalation,” the WSJ said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly said that the West’s supply of weapons to Ukraine only prolongs the conflict and will not change its ultimate outcome.

Last week, Putin proposed a change to the national nuclear doctrine to stipulate that “aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, but with the participation or support of a nuclear state” will be regarded as a “joint attack” and therefore cross the nuclear threshold.

The implication is that this change would apply to a possible Ukrainian attack on Russian soil with weapons supplied by the US, Britain or France.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
The Leftist History Behind The Creation of Arab ‘Palestinians'
[AmericanThinker] The United Nations Organization opened its doors in 1945, and by 1989, the Security Council and General Assembly together voted on 870 resolutions dealing with the "Arab-Israeli" conflict—as it was commonly known in those decades. When I worked on a research project commissioned by the Office of the late Prime Minister of Israel, Yitzhak Shamir, I read and tabulated every one of them.

In this period, the Security Council "condemned" Israel," its highest rebuke, 49 times. Sometimes Israel was "vigorously condemned," "deplored," or "strongly deplored." No Arab state was ever so chastised.

In the same period, the General Assembly "condemned," "deplored," or otherwise castigated Israel 321 times. Again, no Arab state was ever so judged. The aggregate number of individual state votes against Israel in the UN’s first 44 years came to 55,642 votes.

For the UN’s first quarter-century, it did not issue a single resolution referencing "Palestinians." In those UN decades, there were no "Palestinian" on anyone’s lips.

The "Palestinians" made their UN debut three years after the Six-Day War of 1967. Post-war, the five months of heated debate in both chambers climaxed on November 22 with UN Security Council Resolution 242, which would shape the conflict for decades to come. And this text, too, said nothing about any "Palestinians."

The germ of this notional nation originally came from the Chairman of the Arab League of States, Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt. In a 1959 meeting, he raised the idea of rebranding the mixed bag of migrant workers called "the Arab refugees"—as they had been called for ten years —into "Palestinian refugees," even though there was nothing Palestinian about them. (No, it was not the KGB that created the "Palestinian" identity).

His model was the then-ongoing, five-year bloody terror rebellion in Algeria against the French (1954-62), which he supported. There, the Muslims had the brains to abandon their religious jihadi vocabulary, which would not win them support in France, and, instead, adopted the identity of patriotic, anti-imperialist freedom fighters. After WWII, there were scores of such colonial uprisings.

After that, it took another decade for the lie of "Palestinians" to gestate. Golda Meir was their inadvertent midwife.

Two years after Israel’s miraculous victory, on June 17, 1969, during an interview with the London Sunday Times, Israel’s new Prime Minister went to war against the growing fashion of speaking of Israel’s enemies not as "the Arabs" but as "the Palestinians." Golda said, "There never was such a nation," causing the Jew-haters to exclaim, "How dare she deny the existence of the Palestinians!" And the rest is history.

...The "Palestinian" national identity is a verbal hologram; that is, something that looks like it is there, but really is not. The enemy is Islam. The "Palestinian" identity is as empty as the Palestinian National Museum was on the day it opened in Bir Zeit in 2016. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, guests were ushered into the brand-new, $25 million building whose every corridor, wall, and gallery was empty of any objets d’art produced by "Palestinian" artists and artisans in the "Palestinian" style.

And when journalists asked the curator, "Where are the exhibits?" He said they were being made abroad, and there was a delay in delivery.

#4  I remember hearing that Hezbollah and Iran were pissed off at Hamas for Oct 7th b/c the assault was on paper to be a coordinated affair, with Hezbollah invading N.Israel via their own tunnel network.

We’ve been talking about that here, mossomo. Ditto the previous big Hamas attack a few years ago that followed the big manhunt in the West Bank when three Jewish boys were kidnapped by some men who, it turned out, were getting in training for the big West Bank uprising that was also supposed to happen at the same time. And the Hezbollah tunnel attack was stymied because Israel pumped the cross-border ones full of concrete that colourfully flowed out at the Lebanon end in front of UNIFIL cameras while the IDF was talking to them about stuff.

It was reported that Hamas did not actually know about the Nova concert — they were after the border communities at which their spies had been working for years and happened across the thing by accident.

Chilling footage shows moment judge was 'shot dead by sheriff'
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Sobs rang out in a small-town Kentucky courtroom Tuesday as footage was played of a local sheriff shooting dead a judge after finding his daughter's number on the jurist's phone.

Lechter County Sheriff Shawn 'Mickey' Stines, 43, the accused killer, appeared in the CCTV footage inside the inner chamber of his longtime 'friend', District Court Judge Kevin Mullins.

In the chilling clip played in the opening minutes of his preliminary hearing, Stines repeatedly shot Mullins, 54, as he sat behind his desk.

Mullins attempted to scramble behind the desk and chair in the corner of the room while Stines continued firing shots.

In perhaps the video's most haunting moment, the sheriff then goes to leave, but stops as his hand is on the door handle, shoves aside the desk chair and fires a couple more shots into the judge, before eventually walking out of the room.

The court heard Stines had found his daughter's number in Mullins' phone, and had tried to call his daughter from the judge's phone, amid ongoing speculation about a potential motive for the shooting.

As DailyMail.com exclusively reported last month, just hours before the shooting, the sheriff and judge, who were longtime friends, shared an outside table at the popular Streetside Grill & Bar on Main Street for lunch, only a few hundred yards from the courthouse.

The pair were lunchtime regulars together at the sports bar and on that fateful Thursday ordered their usual – both having the $13.99 wings with salad.

'Everything seemed fine between them. There was no clue that anything was wrong at all,' one of the staff attending them that day told DailyMail.com.

'You wouldn't have guessed there was the slightest problem.

The court heard that surveillance video also showed Stines looking at Mullins’ phone several times and then using his phone and Mullins’ phone to try and call his daughter before the shooting.

Upon discovering his daughter's number in the phone, he jumped to his feet within 'seconds', the court heard. He then opened fire.

Kentucky State Police Detective Clayton Stamper testified that during the lunch the pair had appeared to argue. 'I was told that judge made a statement to Mickey about, 'Do we need to meet private in my chambers?' That's all I was told," Stamper said.

No further background was shared.

The video and new details come as the court seeks to determine whether there is enough evidence for Stines to face a grand jury.

He entered a not guilty plea on a charge of murder.

The judge determined there was probable cause and allowed the case to proceed to a grand jury.

Police allege Stines shot Mullins dead at the County Courthouse in Whitesburg Kentucky on September 19.

Under cross examination, Kentucky State Police detective Clayton Stamper was asked whether he has any evidence to suggest this shooting was premeditated.

'No,' he said.

He was then asked if there was any evidence so far which would demonstrate the shooting 'was not a reaction to what was on that phone.'

'No,' he said again.

Stamper confirmed in court that Stines' daughter has been interviewed by police. The interview took place in the presence of her mother.

Three cell phones in total are currently at a forensic lab being downloaded and will form part of the investigation.

Police allege Stines walked into the judge's outer office, told court employees he needed to speak to Mullins alone, then proceeded to shoot him once they entered the inner office.

Stines then walked out with his hands raised and surrendered to officers, who placed him in handcuffs. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder.

Mullins was appointed to serve as a judge in the state's 47th district under former Gov. Steve Beshear in 2009.

He oversaw juvenile matters, city and county ordinances, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, arraignments, felony probable cause hearings, claims involving $2,500 or less, civil cases involving $5,000 or less, voluntary and involuntary mental commitments and domestic violence cases, according to a Letcher County website.

Mullins also gained recognition for his efforts to treat those with drug addiction rather than incarcerate them. He started a program in 2010 that allowed inmates with substance abuse disorders to enroll in inpatient treatment as a condition of pretrial release.

He was previously an assistant commonwealth attorney for nine and a half years, focusing on drug-related offenses.

Stines, meanwhile, was elected sheriff in 2018 and reelected in 2022.

The two men were reportedly friends for 20 years before the incident.

Stines could face the death penalty if convicted of murder because Mullins was a public official.

#2  When this story fist came out, there was some vague reference (prob the Mail, natch) about some previous sex scandal in the court or sherrif's dept.

Just going by physiognomy, the judge probably had it coming.

#3  Gateway Pundit was hinting to an even darker backstory. Not only was there the speculative incident with the Deputy's Daughter, but a series of sexual assaults on inmates too.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
When the world presses for a Mideast ceasefire, it means Israel Is crushing evil
[IsraelNationalNews] The world loves dead Jews. They all come to Yad Vashem to shed a tear and lay a wreath in the same way that they travel elsewhere to see a leaning tower, a statue with a torch, a coliseum, and a large clock that plays the opening melody in "Peter Pan." They love dead Jews. They remember them, memorialize them.

And their beautiful thing is that most of them don’t even have to come to Jerusalem to lay wreaths and shed tears for dead Jews because they already have murdered so many Jews themselves, for centuries, that they can save the airfare and lay wreaths and shed tears at one or another Jewish cemetery or Holocaust museum in their own backyards or along the Rhine or Seine.

The world has less patience for live Jews. They mask their words, and most Jews are too oblivious to realize that many of their "friends" actually despise them. So many Jews buy the baloney. In a world of diplomacy, sensible people simply do not say "I hate you people and want you all dead." They are more elegant and speak in subtleties that only skilled and trained interpreters and translators can help other Jews better understand.

When a British person wants to say "car trunk," he says "boot." When he wants to say "elevator," he says "lift." When he wants to say "truck," he says "lorry." See? It’s that way.

When a New Yorker says "Your mother," he is meaning "I respectfully disagree with you." A Texan says it differently:"That dog won’t hunt." When an Israeli says "Al lo davar" (eh, it’s nothing, really!), he is saying "One day, you will make it up to me."

And when a non-Jew wants to see Jews dead, or — at best — does not care one way or another, he says: "It’s time for Israel to enter into a CEASEFIRE."

Read old newspapers. View old videos. In all of recorded history, no non-Jew ever asked Jews or their antagonists to enter into a ceasefire when Jews were losing. Never happened. Not during the Holocaust. Not during any of Israel’s wars. Not when Jewish kids get pummeled and abused at American colleges. When Jews are losing, everyone turns the other way. Many are happy and want the Jews dead. Many others — not just a few, but many others, good people — feel bad for the Jews, pray to their gods for the Jews, and even teach their kids that it is wrong to beat up and murder Jews because Jews are kind-of similar to everyone else.

But when Jews are winning, as when Israel’s Irgun, Lechi, and Haganah — ultimately the Palmach and Tzahal (IDF) — emerged capable of kicking out the British and then defeating the seven invading Arab armies, it was then that the United Nations sent Count Folke Bernadotte to bring about a CEASEFIRE. He came with a beautiful plan: the Arabs would get almost everything except for two Jews’ backyards, a patio, and some sand. Haifa port would be internationalized. Also Lod airport. Also Jerusalem — all of it. After a brief interregnum, it would be a matter of international oversight as to whether any more Jews even could enter the country any more. In other words, Jerusalem, Haifa port, and the international airport at Lod would end up under Arab sovereignty, with a ban on future Jewish immigration even into the truncated Jewish section.

All he wanted was a CEASEFIRE. The Lechi did not agree. So they did not cease firing — and, G-d bless the late Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir and his men — on him. That problem solved.

By 1967, it was war again. Early word was that Gamal Abdel Nasser and his Egyptian air force were destroying Israel from one side while Syria was massacring Jews from the north. The news of the slaughter was so enticing that King Hussein of Jordan came in for the ride. In New York, the United Nations knew only what the Arabs were proclaiming to the media.

Only Chaim Herzog, then Israel’s U.N. ambassador, knew the Arab governments all were lying, as they always do. (Remember the denials recently, assertions that Mohammed Deif had not been eliminated? And that Haniyah had not been in the house? Or that Nasrallah survived? They always lie until they can’t hide it anymore.) So Ambassador (later President) Herzog kept the actual truth of Israel’s stunning successes on the ground a secret at the U.N., a task particularly easy to perform.

Why? Because Israel knew the U.N. would not call for a ceasefire as long as they believed the Arabs were driving the Jews into the Sea. And Israel wanted extra time to keep winning, to keep driving the Arabs back, and to emerge (despite the perpetually politically cowardly Dayan) with all of Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria and the Golan and the Sinai and Gaza. Indeed, the moment "the cat was let out of the bag," and the world realized that Israel was winning and had reached Har HaBayit (the Temple Mount), the Security Council raced to demand a... CEASEFIRE.

The same in 1973. Remember? It seemed Sadat had taken Israel by surprise on Yom Kippur and was marching on Jerusalem, while Syria was racing to Jerusalem from the north, and brave Dayan was experiencing a nervous breakdown and Golda Meir was pocketing her cyanide tablets. Remember? No one called for a ceasefire then.

But, then, Ariel Sharon — when he was a national military hero, before he became a corrupted politician — built that pontoon bridgehead across the Suez, and started threatening to march toward Cairo, and Israel suddenly had Egypt’s Third Army totally surrounded for slaughter. Remember? Suddenly, Kissinger — the Bernie Sanders of his day, other side of the political aisle but same kind of Jew, brother of another mother — was there demanding a CEASEFIRE. Rescue the Egyptian Third Army to kill the Jews another day and lay the groundwork for giving Sadat (i) the Etzion air base, (ii) the Alma oil fields, (iii) the Abu Rudeis oil fields, and all the rest of Sinai.

And so it is, and so it was, and so it will be. Half a century later, Yair Lapid, a talk show host without a high school degree, was giving precious Israeli gas resources and territory to the, uh, late Hassan Nasrallah. (Assistedy by Naftali Bennett.)

When Macron or England’s Keir Starmer or David Cameron or America’s Joe Biden or Kamala Harris or Rashida Tlaib calls for a CEASEFIRE, they are not jockeying for a Nobel Peace Prize. Rather, they are sounding the clarion call, the shofar sound to the world: "The Jews are winning! We have to stop them! CEASEFIRE!"

Sudanese army accused of executing civilians in Khartoum Bahri - Sudan Tribune
[SUDANTRIBUNE] Sudanese political groups and armed groups condemned the army on Tuesday for the alleged execution of dozens of civilians in the city of Bahri, north of Khartoum. The victims were accused of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

A widely circulated video appears to show individuals in army uniforms and civilian clothing killing young men in the Al-Halfaya suburb, an area recently seized by the army.

A video circulating on social media appears to show individuals in army uniforms and civilian clothes killing a group of young men in the Al-Halfaya suburb. The army recently seized the area after launching an offensive from its bases north of Omdurman.

The National Umma Party issued a statement condemning the ''heinous crime'' and calling on the army to respect international humanitarian law and ensure accountability. The party stated that the killings constitute a ''black mark'' on the armed forces, who are responsible for protecting civilians.

The opposition Beja Congress Party accused the ''Al-Baraa bin Malik'' battalion, which fights alongside the army, of carrying out the executions. The party described the killings as ''barbaric acts'' and called for an independent international investigation.

Bakry Eljack, spokesperson for the Coordination of Civilian Democratic Forces ''Tagadum,'' urged legal action against the perpetrators and criticized previous instances of investigations into abuses that were promised but not carried out.

''What happened is a full-fledged war crime, and justice will reach all those who committed and incited it,'' Eljack said.

He called on both the army and the RSF to adhere to international humanitarian law and stop attacking civilians.

The spokesperson for the Justice and Equality Movement, Suleiman Sandal faction, said that the victims were executed without a fair trial.

''There are no accusations, only executions and liquidations in a manner that reflects abhorrent racism,'' he said.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
German FM Baerbock Proposes International Gaza Protection Force - German Participation Possible (translated)
[Deutschlandfunk] Foreign Minister Baerbock concludes with a view to a future peace order in the Middle East and a participation of German soldiers in a possible protection group for the Gaza Strip is not excluded.

Peace needs international security guarantees, said the Green politician in the magazine "Stern". Terrorism against Israel will no longer emanate from Gaza, and the Palestinians will be able to safely live in their own state. Baerbock strengthened, Germany should contribute to such security guarantees. She also focused on the role of the Allies in Germany after the Second World War. These would have guaranteed the security of the neighboring countries by their presence, that war would never again come from German soil. This laid the foundation stone for people to live in peace for decades.
Her eminence the minister completely forgot that first Germany formally laid down her arms and surrendered. Only once disarmed did the Allies discontinue their conquest and become governors and protectors instead. Overseeing the complete demobilization of the German forces, trials of military and civilian personnel for crimes against humanity, and a complete reordering of the education of the children, all to ensure something like that would never happen again. How much of that is the German soldier up for in Gaza, Madam Minister?

Illustration of the Br'er Rabbit and the Tar-Baby. Wikipedia. "Today, the term "tar baby" is interpreted by many as a racial slur, and politicians have gotten in trouble for using it. But in its original context, it was a metaphor for a sticky situation that got worse the more one tangled with it."

Currently there are 11 peacekeeping missions, some dating back to 1949 and 1964, and costing the U.S. $1.1 billion annually, roughly 28% of the annual cost.

"While the number of active missions has hovered around 20 for the past 25 years, the number of deployed personnel has doubled. At the beginning of 1993, the UN deployed roughly 50,000 personnel, compared to 100,000 active peacekeepers in February 2017."
