Israel carrying out mine-clearing operation near Syria border
[IsraelTimes] The Defense Ministry says it is carrying out activities to clear explosives from an area of the Golan Heights near the Syrian border today.

Crews are being deployed to areas around the community of Ein Zivan to clear mines and other unexploded ordnance in the ground there.

“As part of the planned operations, blasts from explosions will be heard and clouds of smoke will be seen in the area,” the Defense Ministry says.

Many areas of the Golan Heights are pocked with mines left over from previous wars with Syria in past decades, and mine-clearing operations there are not rare. The strategic plateau was captured from Syria in 1967 and later effectively annexed into Israel.

It was repeatedly targeted by mortar, rocket, missile and drone fire from Hezbollah and Iran-backed groups following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack, and also suffered spillover violence from the Syrian civil war in past years.

Most explosive disposal efforts in the past several years have focused on areas near Ein Zivan. Mine clearing last took place there in early February.

Tuesday’s announcement is not thought to be linked to Israel’s recent signaling that it could expand its operations in southern Syria to protect the Druze community there, with Syrian reports overnight claiming IDF troops were 13 kilometers (8 miles) inside the enemy country.

Analysts have speculated that Jerusalem is interested in the establishment of a Druze-controlled autonomous zone south of Damascus to serve as a buffer between Israel and the Islamist forces now running Syria, a move that would somewhat insulate border communities like Ein Zivan.

Israeli forces reportedly operating some 13 KMs from border in Syria’s Daraa province
[IsraelTimes] Syrian media report that Israeli forces are operating near the Tel al-Mal peak in the Daraa Governorate, where a military post belonging to the former Syrian regime once stood.

The hill is located some 13 kilometers (over 8 miles) from Israel’s border, well outside a buffer zone between the countries, which Israel captured following the fall of the Assad regime.

According to a report by the local Daraa 24 outlet, sounds of bulldozers can be heard in the area, as well as overhead flights of helicopters and drones.

Israeli military vehicles were also reportedly seen in the nearby town of Masharah, and on a road connecting the town to the village of al-Tyha.

There is no immediate comment from the IDF.

60+ years later and still We The People don't have all the JFK, RFK & MLK files released. Nor at this point, likely ever will.

With that said.
Other than Trump surviving this attempt, I see little other hope of ever outing those in the Deep-State behind this failed attempt.

Note, I said this failed attempt.
Because, as Trump's people and their investigations dig deeper and deeper in to abuses and immoral acts by the Deep State and the Rouge Elite? (GOD, please forbid). The Deep State will surely try again.

#2  BREAKING:🚨 GENERAL FLYNN DROPS BOMBSHELL—NAMES VICTORIA NULAND IN TRUMP ASSASSINATION PLOT & CALLS UKRAINE ‘ONE BIG MONEY LAUNDERING OPERATION’! 🚨
🔴 The deep state’s dirtiest secrets are unraveling FAST. General Michael Flynn has just exposed Victoria Nuland as one of the key players behind the assassination attempts on President Donald Trump.
🔴 Flynn didn’t stop there—he called out Ukraine for what it REALLY is: "One giant money laundering operation," where billions in U.S. taxpayer money are funneled into corrupt hands and cycled back into the pockets of the DC establishment.
🔴 Elon Musk himself backed up Flynn’s claims, replying: "He's not wrong."
🔥 THE SWAMP IS EXPOSED—AND THEY ARE PANICKING. 🔥
📢 WHAT THIS MEANS:
⚠️ The same globalist figures who pushed for endless war are now being accused of targeting Trump himself.
⚠️ The Ukraine money pipeline—billions in so-called "aid"—is NOT about helping Ukraine. It’s about enriching the same corrupt political elites who keep pushing for war.
⚠️ Flynn is NOT a random voice—he’s a former National Security Advisor with deep intelligence connections. What does he KNOW?
💥 THE DEEP STATE IS ON THE ROPES—BUT HOW FAR WILL THEY GO TO COVER THEIR TRACKS? 💥
🚨 If these allegations are true, we are looking at the biggest political scandal in modern history. Who will be held accountable? Who else is involved? 🚨
@GenFlynn

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Israel attacks military site in northwestern Syria; no casualties reported
[IsraelTimes] IDF confirms strike, says it targeted ‘infrastructure’ at former Assad regime military facility in Qardaha, near port city of Tartous

Israel carried out an Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
in Syria on Monday evening, targeting a military facility near the city of Tartous, in the country’s northwestern coastal region.
Alternate spelling Tartus.
The strike was first reported by Syrian media, with the state-run SANA news agency saying there were "airstrikes carried out by Israeli occupation aircraft on the surroundings of Tartous city," and that there were no reports of casualties at the time.

"Civil defense and specialized teams are working to confirm the location of the targets," SANA added.

The IDF later confirmed carrying out an airstrike in northwestern Syria, saying that the attack targeted a military facility belonging to the former Syrian regime in the town of Qardaha, east of Latakia, where weapons were being stored.

"Due to the latest developments in the area, it was decided to strike infrastructure at the site," the army said, adding that it continues to monitor Syria for potential threats to Israel.

Qardaha, the hometown of deposed president Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Light of the Alawites...
, is located in Latakia province, some 60 kilometers (40 miles) north of the city of Tartus.

Last Tuesday, the IDF said it carried out airstrikes targeting military sites containing weapons in southern Syria. At least two people were killed by a strike on one of the sites, the headquarters of a military unit southwest of Damascus.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last month that southern Syria must be completely demilitarized, warning that his government would not accept the presence of the forces of the new Syrian Islamist-led government near its territory.

Even before Assad’s fall, during Syria’s civil war, which broke out in 2011, Israel carried out hundreds of strikes in the neighboring country, mainly on government forces and Iranian-linked targets.

The same day Assad was ousted, Israel announced that its troops were entering a UN-patrolled buffer zone that separated Israeli and Syrian forces on the strategic Golan Heights.

The IDF described its presence in southern Syria’s buffer zone as a temporary and defensive measure, though Defense Minister Israel Katz has said that troops will remain deployed to nine army posts in the area "indefinitely."

Participants in Syria’s national dialogue conference last week affirmed their rejection of "provocative" statements by Netanyahu and urged the international community to pressure Israel to stop any "aggression and violations," condemning "the Israeli incursion into Syrian territory."

Israeli leaders have also publicly warned Syria’s government not to harm the Druze in southwestern Syria, and have regularly spoken with foreign leaders about the importance of protecting them, along with Syria’s Kurds.

Most recently, Israel over the weekend threatened action after unrest in a Damascus suburb, home to members of the Druze religious minority.

Israeli raids target several sites near Tartous Governorate, with continuous flying of Israeli occupation aircraft
Update from Rudaw at 11:40 a.m ET::
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Monday launched an airstrike on a military site in northwestern Syria, stating that the target belonged to the ousted Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad.

“The IDF struck a military site where weapons belonging to the previous Syrian regime were stored in the area of Al Qardahah,” the IDF said in a statement posted on X.

Qardaha, in Syria’s Latakia province, is not only the hometown of the Assad family, which ruled Syria from 1970 to 2024, but is also considered the heartland of the Alawite religious sect.

The IDF further explained that following “recent developments in the region, it was decided to strike military infrastructure at the site.”

For its part, the state-run Syrian news agency (SANA) reported on Monday that an Israeli aircraft struck the city of Tartous, which is also located in Latakia, but around 65 kilometers south of Qardaha.

SANA said that “an Israeli occupation aircraft carried out strikes on the outskirts of Tartous,” adding that no casualties were recorded. Syrian civil defense teams and “specialized teams are working to confirm the locations that were targeted,” the state-run agency added.

Meanwhile, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on Monday corroborated SANA’s report, stating that “a violent explosion rocked Tartous port after unidentified aircrafts, probably Israeli, flew over” the city.

SOHR added that locals in the region received text messages on their mobiles urging them to “stay away from the terrorists’ locations.”

At the time of writing this report, it remained unclear whether both Qardaha and Tartous were struck separately or if one of them was targeted in one operation.

Following a swift offensive, a coalition of opposition groups led by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) on December 8 toppled the regime of former Syrian dictator Assad, who fled to Russia with his family.

Since Assad’s ouster, Israel has significantly ramped up its military operations in Syria, targeting military assets, weapons depots, and strategic installations.

Israeli forces have also advanced into areas in southern Syria along the border with the Israel-annexed Golan Heights, while Tel Aviv is rejecting calls for withdrawal and insisting that its operations are against what it perceives as threats in the region.

SOHR reported on Monday that, since the beginning of 2025, Israel has launched 17 airstrikes and two ground attacks on Syria, “damaging and destroying 21 targets” including “arms and ammunition depots, [military] headquarters and centers.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Man stabbed to death in suspected terror attack at Haifa bus terminal
[IsraelTimes] Four others hospitalized with moderate to severe injuries; assailant identified as Israeli citizen from Druze community in Shfar’am, reportedly held German citizenship

A suspected terrorist stabbed several people at a major Haifa transit hub Monday, killing a man and injuring at least four others, authorities said.

The knife attack at the northern city’s Lev Hamifratz bus station appeared to be the latest in a string of terror attacks targeting public transportation in Israel, after a ramming attack at a bus stop on Thursday and a series of botched bus bombings near Tel Aviv a week earlier.

The assailant, identified by police as an Israeli citizen from the Druze community, was shot and killed by a bus station security guard and an armed passerby. Family members denied he any terror motive and said he had suffered from mental illness.

Hebrew outlets named the attacker as Jethro Shahin, a man in his 20s. Unconfirmed reports claimed he held German citizenship.

The victim was identified in reports as Hassan Karim Dahamsheh, a 70-year-old resident of Kafr Kanna, an Arab town in the Galilee.

According to police, the assailant stabbed Dahamsheh in the back several times, killing him. Four others were maimed, including a 15-year-old boy rushed to Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The hospital said the teen was stable after undergoing emergency surgery.

Three others, including a woman in her 70s and a man and woman in their 30s, were hospitalized with moderate wounds, health officials said.

Graphic video of the attack captured by a surveillance camera showed the victim attempting to reach a security booth as the stabbing apparently began.

The assailant then rushes the man, tackling him to the ground and repeatedly knifing him until a guard and another man shoot the attacker.

An eyewitness told the Walla outlet that the stabber got off a bus from Shfar’am that pulled into the station, shouted "Allahu Akbar" and began stabbing those around him.

Police said the assailant was a Druze citizen of Israel from Shfar’am, who returned to Israel a week ago after spending several months abroad.

Israel Police chief Daniel Levy said forces were working to verify that the attacker had acted alone.

Reports said that police raided the home of the suspected assailant and were questioning his family. It was unclear if he had a criminal record.

Shfar’am Mayor Nahad Hazem told the Kan public broadcaster that two of those injured were from his city, one of them a relative of his own office director.

"It is a heinous crime, and I completely condemn it," Hazem said.

MK Hamed Amar, a Druze politician from the right-wing Yisrael Beytenu party said the attack did not represent the Druze community in Israel, which is largely integrated into society.

He described the suspected assailant as a "terrorist with German citizenship who was born and lived in Germany."

"Such an act of terrorism is contrary to every moral and human value and certainly does not reflect the loyal spirit of the Druze community in Israel, which is a full partner in defending the state and its values," said Amar, who hails from Shfaram.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
relatives denied Shahin was a terrorist, saying that he had struggled with mental illness.

"I am a disabled IDF veteran and his other uncle is a reserve soldier. We have nothing in our family hostile to the state," the attacker’s uncle Roni Kharis told the Ynet news site.

The forum of the heads of the Druze and Circassian authorities put out a statement saying it "stands united and determined against any attempt to harm the security of Israeli citizens."

"We are certain that the identity of the attacker and his mental condition will soon become clear, and that the attacker is likely of German origin," the statement read.

Acting National Security Minister Haim Katz held a situation assessment after the attack, which occurred at a central transit hub for buses and trains linking northern Israel to Tel Aviv.

Air Force Academy discovers widespread cheating
[StarsAndStripes] Almost 100 Air Force Academy cadets have admitted to cheating or tolerating it during a weekly knowledge test, typically required for freshmen.

Cheating is specifically prohibited by the Academy’s Honor Code, which states "We will not lie, steal, or cheat, nor tolerate among us anyone who does."

The cadets who admitted to cheating have received punitive sanctions and rehabilitation actions, according to a Thursday news release. Punitive sanctions can include restriction to base, removal from sports teams and loss of leadership roles, among other punishments, according to the Honor Code handbook.

In an email, Superintendent Tony Bauernfeind said he appreciated the leadership of Cadet Honor Officers to address the violations, but the behavior was concerning.

"The prevalence of cheating and the method employed suggest a failure in our culture of honor, integrity and accountability," he said.

Bauernfeind promised to make changes to strengthen the commitment to the code, including clarifying the understanding of required evidence and how Honor Boards effectively function.

"We will take immediate and decisive action to address shortcomings while we continue to ensure due-process," he wrote.

The Academy is continuing to investigate and will hold any other cadets involved accountable, the release said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Academy suspected about 250 cadets had cheated when they were sent home to study remotely.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Ted Cruz Warns of Far-Reaching Consequences for Zelenskyy After That White House Meeting
[Townhall] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to the White House on Friday was such a disaster that Sen. Ted Cruz;

...US Senator from Texas. Republican contender for president in 2016, his stiff and abrasive manner earned him the title most hated man in the Senate. After a close win over Beto O'Rourke, who tried to out-Lastino him, he grew a beard and let his biting wit shine through. Cruz's comments have been known to leave life-threatening wounds at better than forty feet...

(R-TX) and co-host Ben Ferguson put out an emergency podcast episode of "The Verdict" on Friday night to discuss not only the meeting, but also the potential fallout. The meeting went so poorly, Cruz predicted, that Zelenskyy "does not politically survive this."

President Donald Trump
...The man who was so stupid he beat fourteen professional politicians, a former tech CEO, and a brain surgeon for the Republican nomination in 2016, then beat The Smartest Woman in the World in the general election. Then he beat Kamala while dodging bullets...
has been striving for negotiations for weeks when it comes to an end to the Russo-Ukrainian war, a war that began three years ago this week, under the particularly weak Biden-Harris administration. Zelenskyy, however, was brash and rude, and has been invited to come back when he is ready for peace.

As Ferguson reminded to paint the scene, the "pretense for this meeting" with Zelenskyy "was to get a deal and to work a deal for peace." He was also there to sign a rare minerals agreement between the United States and Ukraine.

Referencing clips of the meeting that have gone viral, the senator offered his own reaction, which is that "President Zelenskyy showed up in the Oval Office and decided he was there to battle Donald Trump, decided he was there to insult Donald Trump, decided he was there to attack and belittle Donald Trump," Cruz pointed out, going for an even stronger and more consequential reaction from there. "And without exaggeration, I believe this will go down as the most disastrous Oval Office meeting in the history of our nation," he added, prompting a "wow" from Ferguson.

"Zelenskyy had one job," the senator also reminded, going on to offer an apt analysis of what happened with Zelenskyy. "His one job was to go there and to try to get the President's support for a peace that leaves his country in a good and strong position. That was his entire mission. And he apparently decided that he knew better than everyone else, and that President Trump should be kissing his ass. Now I got to say, look for any president you go back from George Washington to Ronald Reagan to George W. Bush to Joe The Big Guy Biden
...46th president of the U.S. Former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body....
to Donald Trump coming into the Oval Office and behaving like an ass, insulting and attacking the president with the TV cameras running, by the way, doing this for the entire world, for any president, is a dumb ass move," Cruz also stressed.

"It was on purpose, too. It was very deliberate. It wasn't an accident," Ferguson also added.

"So there literally is no analog. If you look back, you look back, I've been in a lot of oval office meetings," Cruz offered, further highlighting how badly Zelenskyy behaved. "No foreign leader has ever done what President Zelenskyy did, and it's particularly ironic because it is exactly opposite what he wanted to do. It's exactly opposite what his mission was. Look he was there--number one. The United States has given hundreds of billions of dollars to Zelensky," he continued.

Not only that, Cruz pointed out, but "Zelenskyy's attitude was, 'why the hell haven't you given us more? And we're entitled to every bit of it.'" During that meeting, Trump had expressed that Zelenskyy needed to be more grateful.

The Friday night episode included some of those clips of viral moments, with the senator and Ferguson analyzing those moments.

Towards the end of the episode, Cruz also offered how this could affect Zelenskyy in the long-term.

Reminding how he and Ferguson did an emergency podcast following that disastrous debate between Biden and Trump on June 27, predicting that Biden would not be the 2024 nominee, Cruz forewarned that such a meeting could be similarly consequential for Zelenskyy.

"I think this meeting could easily end President Zelensky’s tenure," Cruz predicted, to more applause. Ferguson pointed out he was going to ask such a question, especially as this "obviously changes the way the rest of the world is looking at him," and has now truly fallen from grace, though Cruz also acknowledged that Zelenskyy "had moments" early on in the war that showed leadership.

"The media loves him, the hard left loves him," Cruz still reminded, when it comes to Zelenskyy's "celebrity" status. Indeed, Democrats
...every time you hear the phrase white people, white supremacy, white anything but paint, you're listening to a Democrat. Ask him/her/it to reimagine something for you; they do that a lot, though not well. They can hear a dog whistle a mile or two away. They invented the spoils system and Tammany Hall, and inspired the addition of the word (Thomas) Nasty to the English language. They want to stop continental drift and repeal the law of unintended side effects...
in Congress stood with Zelenskyy over Trump and Vance after Friday's meeting.

Several months after the start of the war, however, Zelenskyy not only did what turned out to be "essentially a campaign event" with Vice President Kamala Harris
once a marijuana-busting Caliphornia DA
, the replacement nominee, in Pennsylvania in which he went after Vance, then a U.S. senator and the vice presidential nominee.

Reminding how he and Ferguson had discussed this before, Cruz said that they both said if Trump wins, which they predicted he would, "Zelenskyy is going to deeply regret" having made those remarks, though the senator also called it "amazing" how Zelenskyy "keeps doubling down."

Cruz again then did some "doubling down" of his own, which is to predict what this means for Zelenskyy's political future. "I think there's a very good possibility, as I said, that Zelenskyy does not politically survive this, and within days that he's out of office."

Panicked AOC Sends Urgent Letter to DOJ After Tom Homan Signals Federal Investigation
[ThePopulistTimes] Rep. Alexandria Boom Boom Ocasio-Cortez
Dem Congressgirl from da Bronx in Noo Yawk and leader of the Mean Girl Caucus in Congress. One of the Great Minds of the 21st Century, she is known as much for her innaleck as for her dance moves. She is all in favor of socialism, even though she's fuzzy on the details. She was the inventor of the Green New Deal, though she doesn't talk about it much anymore
(D-NY) is demanding answers from Attorney General Pam Bondi after border czar Tom Homan suggested she could now be under federal investigation for advising illegal aliens on how to respond to visits from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a letter, Ocasio-Cortez questioned whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) had succumbed to "political pressure" following Homan’s calls to investigate her actions. Homan requested Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove to investigate AOC over efforts to help illegals avoid deportation. However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
Ocasio-Cortez said she never received any formal notice of the inquiry and now demands that Bondi provide her with transparency on the situation.

Ocasio-Cortez wrote in a letter to Bondi:

“I write to request clarity on whether the Department of Justice (DOJ) has yielded to political pressure and attempts to weaponize the agency against elected officials whose speech they disagree with.

Over the past two weeks, ‘Border Czar’ Tom Homan has gone on multiple forums threatening political prosecution against me, citing resources I distributed informing my constituents and the American public of their constitutional and legal rights.”

AOC then went on to accuse Homan of weaponizing federal law enforcement against political opponents, claiming it is a violation of her First Amendment rights.

The congresswoman demanded the DOJ respond to her inquiry about whether she or her office was actively under investigation for “executing congressional responsibilities” by March 5.

She further accused Homan of attempting to use [the DOJ] to politically “intimidate” duly elected officials.

As we reported earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez hosted an Instagram Live webinar dubbed “Know Your Rights,” which provided guidance to illegal immigrants on responding to ICE enforcement actions.

During the webinar, Ocasio-Cortez told participants:

“When one of these things [raids] comes to your backyard, you can resist, and when that happens over millions of people, is that you generate enough friction that they cannot go as fast as they want to go.”

Violence at Knesset as families of Oct. 7 victims try to force their way into guest gallery
[IsraelTimes] Members of the October Council — which represents October 7 survivors, former hostages and victims’ families — attempt to force their way past Knesset guards after being blocked from entering the plenum guest gallery.

The incident devolves into a shoving match, with guards pushing and grabbing at protesters at the base of a stairwell leading to the observer’s gallery.

In a statement, the group calls on Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to intervene “immediately.”

In a statement, Opposition Leader Yair Lapid says he approached Ohana at the plenum rostrum and demanded the families be allowed in. He says Ohana replied: “I’m checking.”
The families wanted to scream at the government for failing to magically get all the hostages back by completely surrendering to Hamas in all particulars.

‘Condemnation is not enough’: ADL chief lays out post-Oct. 7 strategy pivot at summit
Trust but verify: Could it be that the Anti-Defamation League is seriously backing away from generalized lefty nastiness in a rededication to its original Jewish purpose? Or is this a short term thing they feel they must do to maintain credibility before reverting?
[IsraelTimes] Anti-Defamation League chief Jonathan Greenblatt lays out the organization’s pivot in strategy since October 7, 2023, at the ADL’s annual summit in New York City.

Greenblatt tells an audience of hundreds at the “Never is Now” conference that since the Hamas invasion of Israel, Jewish Americans have experienced a fear that had been forgotten for generations. Jews have changed vacation plans, taken down mezuzahs and reconsidered college choices due to discrimination, he says.

“In the face of this very real fear, we must do better. We cannot keep doing the same thing,” Greenblatt says.

Greenblatt says the ADL has shifted its focus in five ways, including by leaning more on data.

“Condemnation is not enough because when there is no moral shame, you just can’t scold someone into action, but data doesn’t lie. Data is what drives change,” he says, pointing to examples like the ADL’s campus report card on antisemitism.

Second, the ADL is making more use of lawsuits, filing more legal actions in the past 12 months than in the first 112 years of the organization’s existence, Greenblatt says.

Third, the group is using its Center for Antisemitism Research to “interrupt antisemitism before it happens.” The center is using focus groups, surveys and randomized control trials to improve the efficacy of ADL activities, such as social media and curriculum.

Fourth, the ADL is “punching back” in the finance world against the boycott movement against Israel, with a Jewish exchange-traded fund launched last week.

Lastly, the organization is taking action on the ground, such as pressuring officials in Amsterdam to respond after riots against Israelis late last year.

“I know there is hope, and while we’re inspired by this hope, I’ll also acknowledge that hope is not a strategy,” Greenblatt says.

The annual ADL summit is taking place today and tomorrow at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Prominent speakers include the parents of American-Israel Omer Neutra, a hostage killed by Hamas whose body is being held in Gaza, and former Israeli defense minister Yoav Gallant.

Foreign Ministry: Israel rejects ‘agenda-driven’ Geneva conference on Gaza war
[IsraelTimes] Israel "strongly rejects" an upcoming conference in Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
on international humanitarian law in the Middle East, the Foreign Ministry says.

"The planned conference is part of the legal warfare against Israel," the Foreign Ministry states in a blurb, saying that "Israel will not lend its hand to this agenda-driven initiative."

The upcoming conference of the states who have ratified the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949, which governs the protection of civilians during war and occupation, is set to take place in Geneva on Friday.

The parties at the convention "have convened only three times in the past — all of them in relation to Israel — rendering this event inherently political and a blatant politicization of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law," says the Foreign Ministry.

According to Swiss public broadcaster SWI swissinfo, the convention will be held at the ambassadorial level and a declaration is expected to be adopted.

"Some states will push for the declaration to condemn the illegal occupation of the Paleostinian territories," but won’t go beyond a declaration passed by the convention in 2014, Vincent Chetail, professor of international law at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, tells the news outlet.

The convention comes at a delicate stage in Israel-Hamas

as a response to Hamas’s refusal of what Israel called a US-proposed offer to extend the first phase of the ceasefire that ended on Saturday.

The UN General Assembly mandated Switzerland to convene the parties in September. In the past, the conference has convened in response to concerns about Israeli policies in the West Bank, Gaza and East Jerusalem, with discussions often focused on the legal status of occupied territories and alleged violations of international law.

2 Palestinians said shot dead by troops in Gaza; IDF: They posed ‘immediate threat’
[IsraelTimes] Israel reportedly mulling measures to coerce Hamas to accept extension of first phase of hostage-ceasefire deal, as international community condemns decision to block aid to Strip

Two Paleostinians were reportedly rubbed out by Israeli troops in the Rafah area in the southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. Strip Monday morning, as Jerusalem was said to be planning additional measures to pressure Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
into concessions in negotiations to resume a recently expired hostage-ceasefire deal.

The Israel Defense Forces said troops opened fire on two suspects who approached them in the southern Gaza Strip and "posed an imminent threat." Paleostinian media later reported two dead in the incident.

Israeli forces are still deployed to a buffer zone along the Gaza border and the Egypt-Gaza border amid the ceasefire — the first phase of which lapsed Saturday — and the IDF has repeatedly warned Paleostinians against approaching the area.

Residents said Israeli tanks stationed near the eastern and southern borders of Gaza intensified gunfire and tank shelling throughout the night, raising fears among the population that fighting could resume.

A Paleostinian official with a group allied to Hamas told Rooters a state of alert had been declared among fighters.

The IDF also said Monday that it struck a suspicious vessel that crossed a maritime boundary set by the military off the coast of northern Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip earlier in the day.

Before the strike, warning shots were fired at the vessel, which the military said was identified as a threat. It was unclear whether the vessel sank or remained afloat.

The IDF has repeatedly warned fishermen, swimmers, and divers not to enter the sea along the entire Strip during the ceasefire.

ISRAEL SAID READYING MEASURES TO PRESSURE HAMAS
Meanwhile,
...back at the alley, Bugs Moroni was holding Slats from behind while his brother Greasy Thumb was pounding his face into paste ...
with negotiations on the continuation of the ceasefire deal deadlocked, the Kan public broadcaster reported that Israel is planning to keep piling pressure on Hamas to accept a new proposal extending the deal’s first phase and securing the release of all the hostages the terror group is holding, in addition to Sunday’s halt to aid entering the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s proposal would jettison the second phase framework that Israel and Hamas had agreed to for a new outline on releasing the remaining 59 hostages in two batches toward the beginning and end of the Ramadan and Passover holidays that run through March and until April 19. Hamas has accused Israel of violating the original deal and has insisted on continuing on to the second stage.

Kan reported that the next stages of Israel’s "maximum pressure" plan, said to have been drafted over the past few weeks, is to again move the Gazook population from northern Gaza to the territory’s south — as had been the case for most of the war — and later, if needed, cutting all electricity to the Strip.

The final planned measure is reportedly a full return to war, this time with billions’ worth of arms and military equipment the new US administration is sending Israel, including the heavy bombs withheld by the previous administration.

Israel has not directly threatened a return to war following the ceasefire’s lapse, instead reminding the public — and Hamas — that the initial agreement allows Israel to return to fighting after March 1 if negotiations are deemed ineffective.

Israel and Hamas were supposed to begin negotiations regarding the terms of phase two a month ago, but Israel refrained from doing so since that phase requires — in exchange for the release of the remaining living hostages — a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and a permanent ceasefire, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ruled out.

Egypt’s alternative to Trump plan sidelines Hamas, leaves key questions unanswered
Lots of Handwavium…
[IsraelTimes] Draft proposal mum on how to disarm the terror group, contains no financial pledges to rebuild Gaza, and doesn’t give central role to PA, which seeks to lead Strip’s reconstruction

Egypt has drawn up a plan for Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
that would sideline Hamas
..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",...
and replace it with interim bodies controlled by Arab, Moslem and Western states, according to a draft seen by Rooters, as Arab countries scramble to counter US President Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
’s proposal to take over the devastated Strip and oust its residents.

Egypt’s vision, which is due to be presented at an Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
summit on Tuesday, does not specify whether the proposal would be implemented before or after any permanent deal to end the war in Gaza.

The proposal also does not detail a central role for the West Bank-based Paleostinian Authority, which has sought to lead Gaza’s reconstruction. Nor does the draft proposal say how Hamas would be pushed aside, how the Strip would be rebuilt, or who would pay to rebuild it.

A preamble outlining the objectives of Egypt’s plan said there would be "no major international funding for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Gaza if Hamas remains the dominant and armed political element on the ground controlling local governance."

Egypt, Jordan and Gulf Arab states have for almost a month been scrambling to formulate a diplomatic offensive to counter Trump’s plan, which has sparked outrage in Arab and Moslem countries. A number of ideas have been proposed, with Egypt’s considered the frontrunner.

The plan firmly rejects the US proposal for mass displacement of Paleostinians from Gaza, which Arab states, such as Egypt and Jordan, see as a security threat.

The draft proposal was shared with Rooters by an official involved in Gaza negotiations who wished to remain anonymous because the draft has not yet been made public. Rooters was unable to determine whether Arab leaders would support the draft proposal.

Senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri
...a senior spokesman for Hamas. Zuhri gained notoriety in 2006 when he dropped his money belt containing somewhere between 640,000 and 900,000 euros, which was confiscated by Paleostinian security and customs officials at a routine border crossing from Egypt to Gaza. The news brought competing Hamas and Fatah forces to the crossing checkpoint for an epic face-making and hollering contest...
told Rooters that the group knows of no such proposal by Egypt.

"The day after in Gaza must only be decided by the Paleostinians," he said. "Hamas rejects any attempt to impose projects or any form of non-Paleostinian administration, or the presence of any foreign forces on the land of the Gaza Strip."

Egypt’s foreign ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Nor did Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, whose support for any plan is seen as vital to ensure that any reconstruction will not be undone.

The premier has applauded Trump’s plan to take over Gaza, announced at a joint presser of the two leaders in the White House early February.

Netanyahu had previously ruled out any post-war role in Gaza for Hamas or the PA, which Israel has long accused of inciting terrorism. Until Trump’s plan, however, he had failed to publicly enunciate who he would see govern the Strip after the war there.

STABILIZATION FORCE
Egypt’s proposal makes no mention of elections in Gaza, and does not say what would happen if Hamas refuses to disarm or step aside from politics.

Under the proposal, a Governance Assistance Mission would replace the Hamas-run government in Gaza for an unspecified interim period and would be responsible for humanitarian aid and for kick-starting reconstruction of the enclave, which has been devastated by the war.

The plan does not specify who would run the governance mission. It said it would "draw on the expertise of Paleostinians in Gaza and elsewhere to help Gaza recover as quickly as possible."

The proposal envisions an International Stabilization Force, drawn primarily from Arab states, taking over policing in the Strip from Hamas, with the eventual formation of a new local police force.

Both security and governance bodies would be "arranged, guided and supervised" by a steering board. The draft said the board would comprise representatives from Britannia, the United States, the European Union
...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing...
and its member states, key Arab countries, and members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The steering board would coordinate with a Civil Society Advisory Board, consisting of academics, NGO leaders and other notable figures. States on the steering board could establish a fund to support the interim governing body and arrange donor conferences to seek contributions for a longer-term reconstruction and development plan for Gaza.

The proposal contains no specific pledges to finance Gaza’s reconstruction, which would cost over $53 billion, according to a United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
estimate last month. Two sources have told Rooters that Gulf and Arab states would need to commit at least $20 billion in the initial phase of reconstruction.

Oil- and gas-producing Gulf Arab states, such as Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Formerly dictatorial and steeped in Olde Tyme Religion, deferring to Salafist holy men on all issues, it has now done a 180 and is making a serious effort to modernize, so as not to be left in the sand by its Gulf Arab neighbors. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
, Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
, and the United Arab Emirates, could be vital sources of funding from the region.

The three countries’ foreign ministries did not immediately respond to requests for comment about Egypt’s plan, or to questions about their willingness to commit funds to rebuild Gaza.

RECONSTRUCTION BILL
Egypt has sought to establish an interim, independent committee of Paleostinian technocrats to help administer Gaza, as much of the international community maintains that the unpopular PA must undergo significant reforms before it can return to the Strip.

Speaking to The Times of Israel last month, a top aide to PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas
...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase....>
said any committee should answer to Ramallah. Echoing the aide’s comments, a Paleostinian official told Rooters that, like the West Bank, Gaza falls under the PA’s jurisdiction and must be run by Paleostinians.

"We agreed with the Egyptians on a committee made of Paleostinian experts that will help the Paleostinian Authority in running the Gaza Strip for six months. The committee is made of Paleostinian experts and coordinates with the PA, and doesn’t answer to non-Paleostinian bodies," said the official, who asked not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

Hamas has reportedly indicated that it would be willing to hand over the reins in Gaza to the PA after the war there ends.

The terror group ousted the PA from the Strip in a civil war in 2007. Supported by Iran, Hamas has built an extensive terror apparatus based around a vast network of tunnels, much of which Israel has destroyed in the current war in Gaza.

The war was sparked on October 7, 2023, when thousands of Hamas-led gunnies stormed southern Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages.

A January 19 ceasefire and hostage deal brought a temporary end to the fighting, but the agreement’s first phase expired on Saturday with little sign of progress toward the second phase. Egypt was one of the deal’s mediators.

Strip.

In December last year, the ICJ took up a request by the UN General Assembly to issue an advisory opinion on Israeli legislation banning the operations of UNRWA in Israel, and prohibiting state agencies from having any contact with the controversial agency, making its operations in Gaza and the West Bank more difficult.

Israel’s law was challenged in the UN General Assembly by Norway, which claims that it violates international law and what it said were Israel’s obligations to facilitate humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza, in which UNRWA had played an important role.

On Friday, Israel’s Foreign Ministry (MFA) filed a document to the court opposing what it said was a "distorted process" whose outcome was "predetermined," and which the MFA said disregarded the involvement of UNRWA staff in the events of Hamas’s October 7 invasion and massacre.

"The process ignores the atrocities of October 7 and the shameful involvement of UNRWA employees in the October 7 massacre and terrorist activities," said the MFA.

"This is a fundamentally flawed process in which, through the automatic political majority against Israel at the UN, the institutions of international law are used for making political decisions," the ministry added.

The MFA said that the submission filed to the ICJ "exposes the deliberate bias" in the request for an advisory opinion, as well as "the links of UNRWA employees to Hamas activities, the deep involvement of UNRWA employees in terrorist activities, the use of UNRWA facilities for terrorist activities, and the numerous violations of the neutrality to which UN institutions are committed."

The Kan public broadcaster reported that the document, which has not been made public, also included testimony from one of the freed Israeli hostages about being held in an UNRWA facility.

In January, Emily Damari, who was held hostage by Hamas for 15 months and has British citizenship, told British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that she was held at UNRWA facilities in Gaza during her time in captivity.

Damari also told Starmer that while she was held at an UNRWA facility, she was only given an out-of-date bottle of iodine to treat the gunshot wounds she sustained to her leg and her left hand during her abduction on October 7, 2023.

In response, UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini described the allegations as "deeply disturbing and shocking." He said that UNRWA had been forced to vacate its installations in the north of Gaza Strip on October 13, 2023, and had not had control over them since that date, adding that the same had happened in other UNRWA facilities in different locations in the territory.

Israel passed its legislation after a series of revelations and Israeli allegations about the connection of some of UNRWA staff to the events of October 7 and to terrorist activity more broadly.

Israel has alleged that dozens of UNRWA officials and staffers directly participated in, and assisted, the October 7 atrocities, and has provided evidence against several of these employees.

UNRWA itself confirmed that Muhammad Abu Attawi, a commander in Hamas’s Nukhba force killed by the IDF in Gaza, who is documented as having murdered civilians in the notorious bomb shelter attack near Re’im on October 7, was a staffer.

Israel has alleged that some 12 percent percent of UNRWA’s 13,000 employees in Gaza have ties to terrorist factions.

In February, IDF troops found a subterranean data center — complete with an electrical room, industrial battery power banks and living quarters for Hamas gunnies operating the computer servers — underneath UNRWA’s headquarters in Gaza City. The data center was hooked up to the electricity supply in the UNRWA facility above.

Israel has also long-accused UNRWA of fomenting hatred of Israel and Jews, and of inciting violence against them, alleging that 10 percent of senior educators belong to Hamas and Paleostinian Islamic Jihad
...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah...
. Numerous reports have been issued regarding the extremism and incitement found in UNRWA’s educational curriculum.

#2  Zelensky was unwise.

Slaughter 1000s of Americans in the US.

Establish an evil regime hostile to the US.

Disrespect Western sovereignty. Demand the West import your tyrannical system.

Only then:

The West will send troops to serve and protect you and to fight for your totalitarian ideology.

The West will pay danegeld.

Your leaders will be received in the Oval Office, not wearing suits if they don't wish.

And the US & Western political establishment will grovel before you.

Maybe the US and Western political players should get tougher on others, in general.

There are many very hostile and evil entities in the world much more deserving of a similar dressing down, not only by US leaders but also other Western leaders.

Entities that directly and indirectly cost us money, that violate basic human rights at home, that demand Western submission.

Will representatives of Iraq, Iran, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, Egypt etc. get the Zelensky treatment?

-Land of the Free
Pentagon Deploys Mechanized Infantry And Air Support To Secure Mexico Border, Including Team Of 4,400 Soldiers
[ZERO] The Pentagon is deploying a Stryker Brigade Combat Team and a General Support Aviation Battalion to the southwestern border, accelerating efforts to fulfill President Trump's directive to bolster military support in securing the U.S. – Mexico border. The units, equipped with wheeled vehicle and air capabilities, are set to reinforce border operations in the coming weeks, Pentagon Press Secretary Sean Parnell announced over the weekend.

Each SBCT is a mechanized infantry force of approximately 4,400 soldiers, and the Army's nine SBCTs — seven active-duty and two National Guard — are known for their rapid deployment and versatility. Built around the Stryker vehicle — an eight-wheeled armored platform — the brigade balances mobility, protection and firepower. Capable of transport via C-130 Hercules aircraft within 96 hours, the Stryker excels in operations requiring swift response.

Complementing this, the GSAB, with roughly 650 troops, brings aviation muscle — UH-60 Black Hawks for command and medical evacuation, and CH-47 Chinooks for heavy lift — enhancing operational reach and support.

The Stryker's design — lighter than tanks, yet more robust than light infantry — makes it ideal for the border's vast terrain, while the aviation battalion's air traffic control and lift capacity ensure seamless coordination.

"These forces will arrive in the coming weeks, and their deployment underscores the department's unwavering dedication to working alongside the Department of Homeland Security to secure our southern border and maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of the United States under President Trump's leadership," Parnell said in a statement today.

This deployment marks the latest wave of active-duty troops sent to the border since Trump's inauguration on Jan. 20, 2025. Following his declaration to "seal the border" and combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking, initial deployments included 1,600 Marines and soldiers by late January, joining 2,500 reservists already mobilized.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, addressing the mission's scope on his first official day in late January, emphasized adaptability. "Whatever is needed at the border will be provided," he said, signaling a robust commitment to the president's homeland defense priority.

Government Corruption
FBI Refuses to Release Seth Rich Records on March 10
[GatewayPundit] The corrupt FBI has once again refused to release crucial records related to the 2016 murder of Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer Seth Rich.

Attorney Ty Clevenger, who has been battling for years to obtain these documents, reported that the FBI is stonewalling yet again, refusing to comply with his Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

Rich was murdered in Washington, D.C., in the summer of 2016, shortly before WikiLeaks released the infamous Clinton emails.

On Monday, Clevenger took to X to reveal that the FBI will not be releasing Seth Rich-related records as expected on March 10th. Instead, the corrupt bureau plans to provide only a Vaughn index—a limited document listing withheld files and the reasons for their concealment.

In February 2024, Clevenger demanded that the FBI hand over the Seth Rich documents they continue to conceal from the public.

The FBI’s refusal follows a pattern of obfuscation. For years, the agency denied even possessing Seth Rich’s laptop—until Clevenger’s legal efforts forced the FBI to admit they had it all along. Yet, the agency still refuses to disclose any metadata from Seth Rich’s electronic devices.

Even more damning, Clevenger has already uncovered proof that the FBI improperly withheld pages from the CrowdStrike report related to the alleged 2016 DNC hack—an event that conveniently became a political weapon against President Donald Trump.

Europe
Europe must revive patriotism to halt decline, combat Putin
[NYPOST] Donald Tusk, the prime minister of Poland, might not shock Europe's leaders the way Donald Trump
...Oh, noze! Not him!...
does, but he too has a tough message for them.

''Hear for yourself how it sounds,'' he said last month: ''500 million Europeans begging 300 million Americans to defend them from 140 million Russians.''

''If you can count, count on yourself,'' Tusk continued. ''Not in isolation, but with full awareness of your potential. Today, in Europe, we do not lack economic strength, people, but the belief that we are a global power.''

Decline is a choice — and for 30 years now, decline is what Europe's political class has chosen.

Poland, like Ukraine, has always been alert to the danger Russia poses.

But Western European leaders can't claim Vladimir Putin
...President-for-Life of Russia. He gets along well with other presidents for life. He is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substance. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to him. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead from poisoning by polonium or other interesting substances...

Germany's Merz says Trump-Zelensky fight a ‘deliberate escalation' by US
[TheHill] Germany’s Friedrich Merz, poised to be his country’s next chancellor, said he thinks the explosive exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and President Trump on Friday resulted from a "deliberate escalation" by the U.S.

At a press conference on Monday, Merz said he watched the interaction several times to reach that conclusion, according to multiple international news agencies’ translations of his remarks.

"In my opinion, it was not a spontaneous reaction to what Zelensky was saying, but obviously a deliberate escalation in this meeting in the Oval Office," Merz said, according to a translation.
Or it could be that it was a deliberate escalation by President Zelensky, egged on by key Democrats and a few Republicans at a meeting held just before he went to the White House, and previously by his important friends in Europe and England. The guilty knowledge that the thing he thrice promised President Trump had been contracted for the next century by British PM Sir Keir Starmer before Trump was sworn into office in January may also have played into it. Possibly Mr. Merz is unaware, not yet being his country’s head of government.

High-end drug cartel's operations hit due to Mustafa Amir murder case: report
[GEO.TV] With the authorities continuing to probe various aspects of the infamous Mustafa Amir's alleged murder, the arrest of prime suspect Armaghan Qureshi along with Sahir Hasan, son of renowned actor Sajid Hasan, has disrupted the operation of the narco mob in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...

's upmarket neighbourhoods, The News reported on Tuesday.

The case relates to Mustafa's, a BBA student, alleged kidnapping and murder after going missing on January 6. The whole saga unfolded after Armaghan shot up a team of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) — a specialised unit of the Karachi police responsible for tackling cases related to murder and extortion — during a raid at his residence in Karachi's DHA on February 8.

With possible facets of money laundering, fraud and illegal call centre, the investigation so far also unravelled the presence of alleged drug trafficking in the said case.

The resulting crackdown has caused a halt in the supply of marijuana — commonly known as weed — causing massive financial losses to drug pushers.

Amir's murder and the subsequent arrests have exposed multiple aspects of a narco mob that had been operating in the city for years.
Use of dark web, social media platforms

Karachi's high-end weed market is dominated by three different types: Jungle Boy, which is the most expensive, as it is sold at Rs15,000 per gram; Gelato, which is priced at Rs12,000 per gram; and Pamela, which is the least expensive but still costs Rs10,000 per gram.

These drugs are being bought and sold reportedly on the dark web and across various social media platforms and apps. Some courier companies have also reportedly been linked to their transportation.

In Karachi, this trade was controlled by three individuals, but now two of them are dead and the third is in police custody. The big question is; does the death and arrest of these three mean the cartel has permanently been shut down?

Experts believe that completely dismantling such networks is nearly impossible.

While this particular setup has been disrupted for now, it is only a matter of time before new dealers and suppliers emerge.

This billion-rupee industry is too profitable for the mafia and new players to abandon. In the end, the trade will continue, even if the faces change.

"You won't find weed being sold anywhere now,'' Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Muqaddas Haider told the publication, adding: "The suppliers have disappeared, and the supply has almost completely stopped".

[IsraelTimes] Channel 12 reports Israeli officials expect to return to fighting in Gaza in some 10 days if no agreements are reached with Hamas.

It is the Palestinians will bear the blunt.
Because general bravado, pride and saving face will kick in for Hamas leaders.

I expect Hamas will let the deadline pass and further down the road use the media to point the finger at Israel.

Then it might claim it is doing it for the Palestinian people and not because it was getting its ass kicked again.

Pope had two respiratory ''insufficiencies'', back on ventilation: Vatican
[GEO.TV] Pope Francis

...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. That was to show how humble he is. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess...
suffered two episodes of "acute respiratory insufficiency" on Monday, the Vatican said, a setback for the 88-year-old pontiff as he battles double pneumonia.

Francis, who has been in Rome's Gemelli Hospital since February 14, is again receiving "non-invasive, mechanical ventilation" to help with his breathing.

"Today, the Holy Father experienced two episodes of acute respiratory insufficiency, caused by a significant accumulation of endobronchial mucus," the latest detailed medical update said.

The pope also suffered a bronchospasm, akin to an asthma attack, which required doctors to perform two bronchoscopies, or procedures to inspect his air passages.

The pope's prognosis remained "guarded", the statement said, which means Francis is not out of danger.

A Vatican official, who did not wish to be named because he was not authorised to discuss the pope's health, said the pontiff's blood tests on Monday had remained stable.

The pope's doctors believe the respiratory episode was part of his body's normal response in fighting infection, the official added.

US actions may set polio eradication back, says WHO
[GEO.TV] The eradication of polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...

...Kind of like the Center for Disease Control only run by the UN, with about the results you'd expectt...>
(WHO) official has warned.
"Give us money!"
The WHO works with groups such as UNICEF and the Gates Foundation to end polio. The planned withdrawal of the United States from WHO has impacted efforts, including stopping collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Last week, UNICEF's polio grant was terminated as the State Department cut 90% of USAID's grants worldwide to align aid with President Donald Trump
...The cad! Twice caught beating wimmin!...
's "America First" policy.

In total, the partnership is missing $133 million from the US that was expected this year, said Hamid Jafari, director of the polio eradication programme for the WHO's Eastern Mediterranean region.

The area includes two countries where a wild form of polio is spreading: Afghanistan and Pakistain.

''If the funding shortfall continues, it may potentially delay eradication, it may lead to more children getting paralysed,'' he said, adding that the longer it took to end polio, the more expensive it would be.

He said the partners were working out ways to cope with the funding shortage, which will largely impact personnel and surveillance, but hoped the US would return to funding the fight against polio.

''We are looking at other funding sources [...] to sustain both the priority staff and priority activities,'' he said.

He said vaccination campaigns in both Afghanistan and Pakistain would be protected.

UNICEF did not respond to requests for comment, and a spokesperson for the Gates Foundation reiterated that no foundation could fill the gap left by the US Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual haj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. The holy men have been shoved to the background and the nation is now still dictatorial but somewhat rational. That doesn't make them trustworthy, but it's a start...
gave $500 million to polio eradication last week.

The partnership already faces a $2.4 billion shortfall to 2029, as it accepted last year that it would take longer, and cost more, to eradicate the disease than hoped.

As at 2022, endemic wild poliovirus type 1 remains in two countries: Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Surely the WHO can manage two punk-ass countries without our help.

They discovered that when polio was found in the sewage after the second part of the first round.

Trade war escalates as US slaps steep tariffs on China, Canada, Mexico
[GEO.TV] President Donald Trump
...The tack in the backside of the Democratic Party...
's new 25% tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada took effect on Tuesday, along with a doubling of duties on Chinese goods to 20%, launching new trade conflicts with the top three US trading partners.

The tariff actions, which could upend nearly $2.2 trillion in two-way annual US trade went live at 12:01am EST (0501 GMT), hours after Trump declared that all three countries had failed to do enough to stem the flow of the deadly fentanyl opioid and its precursor chemicals into the US.

Canada and Mexico, which have enjoyed a virtually tariff-free trading relationship with the US for three decades, were poised to immediately retaliate against their longtime ally.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
...hereditary prime minister of the Great White North...
said Ottawa would respond with immediate 25% tariffs on C$30 billion ($20.7 billion) worth of US imports, and another C$125 billion ($86.2 billion) if Trump's tariffs were still in place in 21 days. He said previously that Canada would target American beer, wine, bourbon, home appliances and Florida orange juice.

"Tariffs will disrupt an incredibly successful trading relationship," Trudeau said, adding that they would violate the US-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement signed by Trump during his first term.

Day 2: Car drives into crowd in German city of Mannheim, killing two
Follow up to this story from yesterday, when it was revealed that the miscreant’s name is Alexander S.
[GEO.TV] A car drove into a crowd in the western German city of Mannheim on Monday, killing at least two people and injuring 11 others, overshadowing carnival celebrations in the region where police had been on alert for attacks.

Police detained the driver, who appeared to have ploughed intentionally into the crowd given the speed at which he was driving, prosecutors said in an act Interior Minister Nancy Faeser labelled "horror in broad daylight".

He did not appear to have been politically or religiously motivated, but there were reasons to believe he was psychologically unwell, said Mannheim Chief Public Prosecutor Romeo Schluessler.
He did not appear to have been politically or religiously motivated, but there were reasons to believe he was psychologically unwell, said Mannheim Chief Public Prosecutor Romeo Schluessler.

Prosecutors have initiated investigative proceedings against the suspect, a 40-year-old German man from the neighbouring state of Rhineland-Palatinate, on two counts of murder and multiple counts of attempted murder.

The suspect has not been questioned yet as he had to undergo medical treatment after shooting himself in the mouth with a blank-firing gun after the attack.

He appeared to be a landscape gardener who lived alone, prosecutors said, adding that they were now investigating his home for clues.

Security has been a key concern in Germany following a string of violent mostly peaceful attacks in recent weeks, including deadly car rammings in Magdeburg in December and in Munich last month, as well as a stabbing in Mannheim in May 2024.

"The incident — like the terrible acts of the past months — serves as a stark reminder: we must do everything possible to prevent such acts," said Germany's likely next leader, Friedrich Merz, whose conservatives won a national election last month.

"Germany must once again become a safe country. We will work with full determination to achieve this."

Messages of solidarity were sent from across Europe.

"To all the people of Mannheim, especially to all the relatives of the victims of the attack, to the German people. La Belle France is at your side," French President Emmanuel Macron wrote on the social media platform X.

First open iftar held at Windsor Castle in 1,000-year history
Once again triggering the rumour that His Most Christian Majesty, King Charles III secretly converted to Islam some time ago.
[GEO.TV] A charity held the first-ever open iftar inside Windsor Castle's State Apartments in the castle's 1,000-year history.

St George's Hall, world renowned for hosting state banquets, welcomed over 360 guests of all backgrounds to mark the first open iftar event of 2025 organised by the Ramadan Tent Project in collaboration with Royal Collection Trust, the charity that welcomes visitors to the official royal residences.

It is the first event of its kind to mark the Moslem holy month of Ramadan inside the State Apartments at the world's largest and oldest occupied castle in the world, and the first iftar gathering held in the Hall, which was constructed in the 14th century during the reign of King Edward III.

Open iftar has so far brought together over one million people across the UK and saw some of Britannia's most well-known venues open their doors to visitors from all faiths and none, to foster community, inclusivity and cultural exchange during Ramadan.

Philippine fighter jet goes missing while on a mission against insurgents in a southern province
[ABCnews] A Philippine air force fighter jet with two pilots on board has gone missing during a night combat assault in support of ground forces who were battling insurgents in a southern province, and an extensive search is underway, officials said Tuesday.

The FA-50 jet lost communication during the tactical mission with other air force aircraft around midnight Monday before reaching a target area. The other aircraft were able to return safely to an air base in central Cebu province, the air force said without providing other details for security reasons.

A Philippine military official told The Associated Press that the incident happened in a southern Philippine province, where an anti-insurgency mission against communist guerrillas was underway.
Not one of the Moslem provinces? Communists go on Page 3: Non-WoT with prayers that they are found soon and safe.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of a lack of authority to discuss the sensitive situation publicly.

"We are hopeful of locating them and the aircraft soon and ask you to join us in prayer during this critical time," air force spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said.

It was not immediately clear if the rest of the FA-50s would be grounded following the incident.

The Philippines acquired 12 FA-50s multi-purpose fighter jets starting in 2015 from South Korea’s Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. for 18.9 billion pesos ($331 million) in what was then the biggest deal under a military modernization program that has been repeatedly stalled by a lack of funds.

Aside from anti-insurgency operations, the jets have been used in a range of activities, from major national ceremonies to patrolling the disputed South China Sea.

Knesset passes bill enabling coalition to appoint judiciary ombudsman
[Jpost] The Knesset passed a bill early Tuesday morning that will de facto enable the coalition to appoint the next ombudsman of the judiciary.

Known as the "judicial watchdog," the ombudsman is responsible for hearing complaints against all judges with statutory powers, including criminal courts, transportation courts, and family courts, and judges in religious courts and can initiate disciplinary proceedings against them.
The problem with courts is not that most judges are leftards. It's that lawyers think that their collection of semi randomly accumulated laws/precedents are a complete system pertaining to every possible occurrence. Now all Israel needs is death penalty for terrorists, and we're ready to go.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iranian Vice President Mohammad Javad Zarif Resigns
[Breitbart] Iranian Vice President Mohammad Javad Zarif resigned on Sunday evening, strongly implying in his resignation letter that he was forced out by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni and other theocratic hardliners.

Zarif, 65, was Iran’s foreign minister from 2013 to 2021 and served as Iran’s lead negotiator for the 2015 nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). The deal was signed by President Barack Obama, but President Donald Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in 2018, citing Iranian cheating and support for terrorism.

Zarif was seen as a leader in the "moderate" or "reformist" wing of Iranian politics. Along with Hassan Rouhani, who was president of Iran when the JCPOA was negotiated, Zarif endorsed "moderate" candidate Masoud Pezeshkian in the June 2024 special election to replace hardline President Ebrahim Raisi after he died in a helicopter crash.

Terms like "moderate" and "reformist" are highly relative in Iranian politics, particularly since Western media constantly abuse such language to paint leaders like Zarif and Rouhani as preferable to the "hardliners."

Pezeshkian won an upset victory to become a moderate and reformist president, for example, but he has not been much help when it comes to halting Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, and he proved quite bloodthirsty when it came to using Iran’s terrorist proxies to shed innocent blood on behalf of Hamas in the Gaza war and was willing to directly attack Israel with missiles twice after Hamas started the war on October 7, 2023.

Zarif was rewarded for supporting Pezeshkian with a plum perch as vice president. He was actually Vice President for Strategic Affairs, one of several vice presidential positions in the Iranian government, although Zarif campaigned alongside Pezeshkian in a manner similar to U.S. running mates.

Zarif became a major target for hardliners in Iran’s endless factional struggles for power. He actually resigned once before, only two weeks after he took office, during a power struggle over the composition of Pezeshkian’s cabinet. Pezeshkian refused to accept his resignation and Zarif was back at his desk by the end of the month.

Pezeshkian did not immediately accept Zarif’s second resignation on Monday, although his office confirmed receiving the letter of resignation.

Zarif’s opponents have hounded him with invocations of a law that ostensibly forbids Iranians from holding public office if they, or their children, hold dual citizenship. Zarif’s children were born in the United States when he was part of Iran’s mission to the United Nations, so they are naturalized American citizens who hold U.S. passports.

Zarif wrote a testy social media post on Sunday night in which he complained about facing "the most ridiculous insults, slanders, and threats against my family in the past six months," a period he described as "the most bitter" in his forty years of government service.

Zarif said he would resign on the advice of Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, the chief justice of Iran, who told him to "return to the university" to "avoid further pressure on the government." Zarif has worked as a university professor and guest lecturer during most of the time he was not a government official.

Trump admin promises to be ‘ruthlessly aggressive' in response to suspected cartel killing of US citizen
[FoxNews] In response to the killing of an elderly South Texas rancher and U.S. citizen by a suspected cartel explosive, the Trump administration is promising to continue being "ruthlessly aggressive" in responding to cartel threats to Americans.

After 74-year-old U.S. citizen Antonio Céspedes Saldierna was killed in the blast, National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes told Fox News Digital that the administration will be relentless in working to fully secure the border.

He said that President Donald Trump’s recent designation of eight cartels – including MS-13, Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua and several Mexican cartels – as foreign terrorist organizations, "makes clear his intention to treat violent cartel members exactly as they should be treated – as terrorists."

Hughes did not offer any specifics on whether the administration is considering a military response to the suspected cartel killing but noted that the "administration has proven to be ruthlessly aggressive in pursuing criminal gangs that threaten our homeland."

He said that "President Trump will stop at nothing to secure our border, protect our communities, and dismantle terrorist organizations."

As reported by local outlet KRGV-TV on Tuesday, Saldierna was driving in his truck about two hours south of the border in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas when he drove over an IED which exploded, taking his life.

His death comes after weeks of growing concerns among border leaders about an increase in cartel violence and activity just south of the U.S. border.

On Jan. 27, U.S. Border Patrol agents took fire from cartel members near Fronton, Texas.

Feces And Refugees Trigger Dysentery Outbreak In Leftist Run Portland
[ZH] Portland, Oregon's rapid economic decline is a well documented phenomenon related directly to Democrat leadership and progressive policy initiatives. The city is perhaps one of the most far-left governments in the entire US and it's a notorious breeding ground for leftist activist politicians. Portland is considered a "sanctuary city" and Oregon is a sanctuary state. Political opposition to illegal immigrant deportation efforts is extensive. This ideological stand, however, has only exacerbated the region's economic problems.

One unfortunate consequence of the blue city breakdown is the fast rising homeless population and a large percentage of this population, according to estimates, is made up of refugees and asylum seekers looking for protection from deportation.

Sanctuary cities don't track illegal migrant populations which means identifying the consequences of a migrant influx is difficult. One danger associated with uncontrolled immigration is the spread of third world diseases that don't normally pose a serious threat in the US otherwise.

Over the past several years, Portland has dealt with multiple outbreaks of two types of Shigella bacteria, also known as Dysentery, as well as norovirus outbreaks with the same symptoms. In 2024-2025 the metro area is witnessing the largest spread of Shigella so far.

Health officials warn that the bacterial version of the disease is proving resistant to several antibiotics and they cite two primary causes for the outbreak: The homeless population and "oral contact" involving fecal matter.

Of the most recent cluster of cases, the county said 56% were among people experiencing homelessness and 55% of the cases reported methamphetamine or opiate usage. They have also also identified a spread among housed and unhoused social groups who use drugs.

Oregon is 27th in the nation for population size, but has the 8th largest population of homeless people. Oregon officials warn that a large percentage of the homeless are made up of illegal migrants. In 2022, Portland was in the midst of a migrant housing crisis which they have still not solved. When illegals are housed by the city in specific neighborhoods it is commonly done without the knowledge of the community.

Trump's tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico take effect
[FoxBusinessNews] President Trump was asked on Monday whether there was room left for any room left for Canada or Mexico to make a deal to avoid tariffs and he replied, "No room left for Mexico or for Canada. No, the tariffs, you know, they're all set. They go into effect tomorrow."
Today being yesterday’s tomorrow.
Shortly after taking office in January, Trump announced he would impose tariffs on the three countries and cited the flows of illegal fentanyl shipments across the Mexican and Canadian borders, as well as precursor chemicals for fentanyl shipped from China. He cited authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

While the China tariffs were implemented on schedule, the president delayed the Canada and Mexico tariffs for a month after the two countries announced border security measures.

"Just so you understand, vast amounts of fentanyl have poured into our country from Mexico and, as you know, also from China, where it goes to Mexico and goes to Canada. And China also had an additional 10%, so it's 10 plus 10. And it comes in from Canada, and it comes in from Mexico, and that's a very important thing to say," Trump said during Monday's press conference.

Trump pauses aid to Ukraine after fiery meeting with Zelenskyy
[FoxNews] The Trump administration is pausing all aid to Ukraine, including weapons in transit or in Poland, until Ukrainian leaders show more appreciation for U.S. support and a commitment to peace, Fox News has learned.

The pause comes days after a contentious meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President Donald Trump in the White House over how to end the three-year conflict initiated by Russia.

"President Trump has been clear that he is focused on peace," a White House official told Fox News. "We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution."

A senior Trump administration official also told Fox News that military aid will remain on hold until Ukrainian leaders show a commitment to good faith peace negotiations.

"This is not permanent termination of aid, it's a pause," the official emphasized. "The orders are going out right now."

Two Human Trafficking Leaders arrested for smuggling 20,000 migrants into US
[KhaamaPress] Federal authorities have arrested two leaders of a criminal group suspected of trafficking 20,000 migrants colonists to Los Angeles, United States. The arrests were made in connection with the group’s operation, which involved smuggling migrants colonists from Guatemala into the U.S. According to reports, these leaders were charging up to $18,000 per person to facilitate their entry into the U.S.

According to reports, these leaders were charging up to $18,000 per person to facilitate their entry into the U.S.
The two individuals, identified as Eduardo Domingo Renoj-Matul known as "Turko"and Cristobal Mejia-Chaj, were arrested last Friday. U.S. authorities have labeled Turco as the head of one of the largest human trafficking organizations operating in the United States. The arrested individuals were in the U.S. illegally and were collecting substantial fees from migrants colonists to help them cross through Mexico and reach Los Angeles.

According to reports, those who could not afford the fees were held as hostages in a hideout near Los Angeles. The authorities suggest that the suspects could face life sentences if convicted. This case highlights the ongoing illegal migrant trafficking operations that are exploiting vulnerable individuals seeking a better life.

In addition to this, the Trump administration has significantly escalated efforts to deport undocumented migrants colonists from the United States. The administration’s strict policies, including ramped-up deportations, have placed immense pressure on migrant communities, especially those from Central America.
The Daily Wire adds:
The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced that four different Guatemalan illegal aliens had been captured in connection to the massive smuggling ring and could now face the death penalty for their role in a trafficking operation that resulted in the death of migrants, Acting United States Attorney Joseph T. McNally told The Daily Wire.

“Eduardo Domingo Renoj-Matul, 51, a.k.a. ‘Turko,’ of the Westlake neighborhood near downtown Los Angeles, was arrested Friday morning along with his alleged right-hand man, Cristobal Mejia-Chaj, 49, also of the Westlake neighborhood,” McNally’s office said. Renoj-Matul is believed to have smuggled “approximately 20,000 illegal immigrants from 2019 through July 2024.”

“Also charged in the indictment are Helmer Obispo-Hernandez, 41, a.k.a. ‘Xavi,’ a lieutenant in the criminal organization who is a fugitive, and Jose Paxtor-Oxlaj, 44, a driver for the smuggling organization who is incarcerated in Oklahoma in connection with the fatal November 2023 car accident,” it says.

In addition to allegedly smuggling illegal aliens into the United States, Helmer Obispo-Hernandez allegedly threatened to “cut off the heads of a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officer and members of his family” after his residence was searched by federal authorities.

“All four defendants are charged with one count of conspiracy to bring aliens to the United States, transporting aliens in the United States, and harboring aliens in the United States for private financial gain and resulting in death,” the DOJ release explains.

The smuggling operations also resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including one four-year-old boy.

“Paxtor-Oxlaj caused a car accident in Elk City, Oklahoma, while he was smuggling illegal immigrants from New York to Los Angeles,” the DOJ explained. “That car accident resulted in the deaths of seven people who were passengers in the vehicle he drove. Of the seven people killed, three were minors, including a 4-year-old child.”

Two more illegal aliens believed to be tied to Renoj-Matul’s smuggling ring were also captured in Los Angeles last week.

Give this some thought.
How long during the Biden Regime, did it take these 2, to smuggle in 20,000? Answer: About 1820+/- days.

How long did it take TRUMP to flush ICE, FBI, and the DOJ. Rebuild them and have the Human Traffickers arrested?
Answer: Less than 43 days.

So it appears, the Democrat's & Rino's, clearly supported Human Trafficking. Plus, they were clearly willing to accept all the deaths, rapes, drug hauling, and abuses traffickers were known for.

Just so they, the Democrats, could further their morbid political agenda.

Science Alert: Women Talk More Than Men After All, And By Quite a Lot
There are certain stereotypes about how relatively chatty men and women are, but what does the science say? A comprehensive new study shows that women tend to do more talking for much of the middle period of their life.

The study found that between the ages of 25 and 64, early to middle adulthood, women average 3,275 more words per day than men — or 20 more talking minutes. Across the other age ranges, the figures were more or less the same.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin is in italics.

[ColonelCassad] Against the backdrop of failed negotiations in the White House, from where Zelensky was kicked out without lunch and without guarantees, Europe is hastily deciding what to do next in the context of the ongoing U-turn in US policy, which threatens the concept of a "long war against Russia".

The increased likelihood of reducing or even stopping the US military and economic participation in supporting the war in Ukraine makes the issue of the need to increase funding for the war by those (https://russian.rt.com/world/news/1442424-starmer-plan-ukraina-ssha) who want it to continue. This is the reason for the allocation of new loans for the war in Ukraine, as well as calls from globalist politicians in Europe to "tighten their belts" and increase military supplies to Ukraine. From these statements, it is easy to identify a group of European countries that are at the forefront of Europe's Russophobic course.

In the current realities, most European countries do not even choose the required 2% for defense, which Trump demanded back in 2017. At that time, the EU economy, albeit slowly, was growing. Today, the issue is about the need for spending in the amount of 3% or even 5% of GDP. In conditions where most Eurozone countries are in a state of recession or stagnation with a continuing decline in living standards, as well as a continuing flight of capital to the United States and the transfer of high-tech industries there (these problems are most clearly manifested in Germany), increasing spending on the war in Ukraine in the current reality will mean an inevitable decline in the standard of living of the population of European countries and further capital flight from Europe.

As a result, we can expect that the popularity of right-wing populists and Eurosceptics speaking out against the financial and political tyranny of the Brussels bureaucracy will continue to grow in Europe (https://russian.rt.com/world/article/1439480-frg-vybory-parlament-itogi). These trends are already clearly evident now, when in Germany, Austria, Romania, Britain and a number of other countries there is a growing popularity of right-wing populist parties criticizing EU policy (including policy towards the Russian Federation). In some places, the EU manages to prevent them from coming to power through political machinations, in others it has to be done through direct interference in elections, as happened in Romania. But this is becoming increasingly difficult to do, the pressure under the lid of the closed boiler continues to rise.

Therefore, against the backdrop of statements from Britain, France and Germany "about a war to the last Ukrainian", a number of countries are trying to appeal to the financial factor in order to bring down (https://t.me/rt_russian/231318) the possible price of complicity in this policy, and traditional rebels like Hungary and Slovakia are completely against this course. Of course, this destroys the thesis about some kind of unified policy for Europe and creates a picture where a group of countries subordinate to the globalist project, despite the position of the US and a significant part of the population of Europe, are trying to continue the war at any cost, including at the cost of the standard of living of the population of Europe.

On the other hand, these throwing themselves against the background of negotiations between Russia and the US, as well as the positions of the world majority (including China, India and Brazil) clearly demonstrate that it is the EU leadership and Britain that are the warmongers who are against peace. And this will also have consequences for the image of the EU, which has already been severely eroded in the last couple of years.

For Russia, all this creates new interesting diplomatic opportunities that will once again demonstrate how badly those who made plans for the diplomatic isolation of Russia miscalculated.

Especially for RT

The FBI Director has already asked the US Congress to begin an official investigation into the use of American money in Ukraine.

Trump, in his usual style, announced some heartbreaking news for tomorrow.

"Tomorrow night will be grand. I'll tell it like it is!"

BUILDING UP THE INTRIGUE.
The US and EU are eagerly awaiting new steps against Zelensky by the Trump administration. Through the press, Trumpists are so far voicing threats without specifics.

Moscow reported today that there is no clarity yet on the meeting between Trump and Putin, although negotiations between Russia and the US on improving the situation are ongoing.

The White House announced today that Zelensky is effectively incapable of reaching an agreement.

The White House does not see Zelensky's readiness to make the compromises necessary to end the fighting in Ukraine. Zelensky is not yet ready for peace talks, but he needs to start peace talks because time is not on his side, and the patience and wallet of the United States are not limitless.

Continuing the war in the spirit of the First World War is a road to nowhere. The President of Ukraine missed the chance to economically tie the United States and Ukraine for a generation to come. (c) Waltz

Trump is open to resuming talks with Zelensky on natural resources, but only on condition that he changes his position (c) White House

Accordingly, based on the proposed fork - submit and apologize or resign, the likelihood of the United States moving towards the second scenario will increase. Some of those who previously supported Zelensky in the United States have already quickly changed their shoes, led by "Zelensky's friend" Lindsey Graham.

Head of FBI field office in New York *resigns* after the Department of Justice accused his office of hiding thousands of Epstein documents.
[X) AG Bondi explains

I needed to put my retirement papers in today, which I just did. I was not given a reason for this decision," Dennehy said.

Dennehy had previously told his office to "dig in" after Trump was elected.

The resignation comes after AG Pam Bondi instructed FBI Director Kash Patel to launch an investigation into claims that the New York field office was hiding thousands of documents.

Bondi said a source came forward claiming the field office had thousands of pages of docs.

"I repeatedly questioned whether this was the full set of documents responsive to my request and was repeatedly assured by the FBI that we had received the full set of documents," Bondi said.

"Late yesterday, I learned from a source that the FBI Field Office in New York was in possession of thousands of pages of documents related to the investigation and indictment of Epstein."

"Despite my repeated requests, the FBI never disclosed the existence of these files. When you and I spoke yesterday, you were just as surprised as I was to learn this new information."

FSB Eliminates Terrorist Who Planned Terrorist Attacks in Moscow and Moscow Region
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Law enforcement officers have thwarted attempted terrorist attacks at a religious Jewish institution in the Moscow region and at one of the Moscow metro stations, which were being prepared by a supporter of radical Islam, who was neutralized during his arrest. This was reported on March 3 by the Public Relations Center (PRC) of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia.

It is noted that the Russian citizen, who is a native of one of the Central Asian countries, planned to detonate homemade explosive devices "in a cult Jewish institution" in the Moscow region and at one of the stations of the capital's metro. To do this, the man conducted reconnaissance and bought the necessary components, and after committing the terrorist attacks, he intended to go to Afghanistan to join the ranks of an international terrorist organization.

“When detained, the criminal offered armed resistance to Russian FSB officers and was eventually neutralized by return fire,” the statement said.

Weapons and materials for making explosive devices were found and seized in the terrorist's apartment. The Investigative Department of the UFSB of Russia for Moscow and the Moscow Region opened a criminal case on this fact under Part 1 of Article 30, Subparagraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 205 ("Preparation for a terrorist act") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on February 28, the FSB prevented a terrorist attack by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR) against Metropolitan Tikhon ( Shevkunov ) of Simferopol and Crimea. The terrorist attack was to be carried out by the Metropolitan's assistant, Ukrainian citizen Denis Popovich, recruited by the Ukrainian special services.

On February 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the number of terrorist crimes in Russia has increased, and most of them are planned by Ukrainian special services. In this regard, the head of state instructed the FSB, under the coordination of the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC), to use available forces and means as effectively as possible and pay special attention to preventive measures, increasing the anti-terrorist protection of military and industrial facilities, life support systems, public facilities, as well as energy and transport infrastructure.

Adds regnum.ru
FSB officers filmed the body of the liquidated Islamist in a private home, his pistol, bullet marks in the wall, as well as components for making explosives and Islamist symbols found during the search. In addition, the FSB showed information from the Islamist's phone - correspondence about preparing a terrorist attack, instructions for assembling a bomb, and a video of shouts of Islamist slogans.

In total, the additional tariffs will affect a variety of U.S. agricultural exports. Chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton will be subject to a 15% tariff, while other products like sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, and seafood will face a 10% increase.

Beijing also placed 10 additional U.S. companies on its "unreliable entity list," which restricts these companies from conducting business in China. This list includes firms like Teledyne Brown Engineering and Huntington Ingalls Industries, among others.

In addition to the 10 new companies added, China had previously placed two U.S. firms, PVH Group and Illumina, on the list, further escalating the economic tensions between the two countries.

China also expanded its export controls, adding 15 more U.S. companies to a list that prohibits the export of dual-use items to these firms. This includes companies involved in aerospace and defense, such as General Dynamics and General Atomics.

Although China remains a major importer of U.S. farm products, its reliance on U.S. exports has decreased. China has been diversifying its sources of agricultural imports, purchasing more soybeans from Brazil and Argentina
...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita...
, among others.

The trade dispute between China and the United States continues to escalate, with both countries imposing tariffs and expanding restrictions on each other’s companies. This trade war is impacting a wide range of industries, including agriculture and technology, and shows no signs of immediate resolution.

As China diversifies its import sources and takes action against more U.S. companies, the long-term effects of these trade tensions will likely disrupt global trade patterns and affect the economies of both nations. The trade war remains a critical issue in international relations and global economic stability.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
Interview: Sergeant Grigoriev, who defeated the enemy in hand-to-hand combat: I gave that knife to a friend
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Very down to earth young man, sounds to me like.

by Marina Akhmedova

[REGNUM] Junior Sergeant Andrey Grigoriev, call sign Tuta, became famous throughout Russia after a video of his knife fight with a DPR VSSU soldier was distributed on Telegram channels. The Ukrainian had a camera mounted on his helmet that recorded the fight. Grigoriev won. Dying, the Ukrainian called his opponent the best fighter in the world. Tuta also received many serious wounds and was hospitalized.

Video is in Russian.

On January 11, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding the Russian fighter the title Hero of Russia. The fighter admitted that he was shocked to learn of the award. On February 23, the head of state presented Grigoriev with the Hero of Russia Star.

Andrey Grigoriev told the editor-in-chief of the Regnum news agency, Marina Akhmedova, about that very fight and what happened next.

— Andrey, almost every person in our country watched the video of your knife fight with a Ukrainian serviceman, from which you emerged victorious. Hand-to-hand combat rarely occurs in the SVO, they mostly use drones there. Was this the first such case?

— No. The first fight was on May 8, 2024. It just wasn’t recorded on video. And what everyone saw was my second fight on November 16.

— Naturally, you also won the first fight.

— Yes.

— Was it about the same?

— It was even worse then.

— How is it worse? Was it harder to kill the enemy?

— That's not the point. There were more of them, fewer of us. We got too close to the VSSU guys, so we had to resort to hand-to-hand combat.

— Why? There were no machine guns?

— There were machine guns, but we didn't have time to react, didn't have time to reload. So we went hand-to-hand.

— They probably didn’t expect that you had knives and knew how to use them well.

— It wasn't just about knives. Both we and they fought with whatever we had at hand: knives, machine gun magazines, even mugs. That was the most terrifying fight. And during the second fight we were already one on one.

— What was scary about the first fight? Because there were more enemies and they were stronger than you?

— Any fight is scary. It doesn't matter what weapon you have.

— When the video with you appeared and everyone was talking about it, I didn’t watch it. I thought that if I watch this video in addition to what I had seen before, it will stay with me forever. I decided to watch it only to prepare for the interview, to see your feat. It was very scary.

— I have never watched this video.

— Were you afraid to relive these experiences?

— Yes. It would be very difficult to survive them a second time.

— What did you feel then?

— I just wanted to do everything quickly, not die and move on.

— Were you afraid that you might be killed? Or afraid to kill a person with a knife?

— I was afraid that reinforcements would come to him. That's why I wanted the fight to end quickly. When the battle began, we both knew that only one would survive. With God's help, I overcame it.

— You said: "With God's help." At that moment, when you were fighting, did you remember God?

— No. I concentrated on the fight, I didn’t think about anything else.

— Was there adrenaline and nothing else?

— Yes. Adrenaline turns on automatically.

— Do you become just a creature that aims to survive?

— Yes. Survive and complete the mission.

— The VSSU officer was also constantly shouting something. Was he calling his own people? I think he was shouting "Storm".

— I don’t remember exactly what he was shouting. He was trying to call for reinforcements. I didn’t shout because our guys were far away and no one would come to my aid. There was no need to waste energy shouting, I needed to focus on something else. To complete the task and get out of there alive.

— When you spoke to him later, there was no anger or hatred in your voice. You spoke to him as if he were just an acquaintance of yours ("Well, that's it, that's it, that's enough").

— He's already essentially dead. He asked me to let him go, to say goodbye to the sky and to his mother. I tell him: "That's it, come on, brother, goodbye." In any situation, you have to remain human.

— I agree with you. Why did you call him "brother"?

— Because both he and I were on a mission.

— So you're just two people put in these circumstances? If it weren't for these circumstances, it would never have occurred to you to kill each other?

— No, of course not. It's just our job.

— And when you stood up and saw that he was already torn to pieces and would soon die, did you feel sorry for him?

— I wanted to get out of there quickly so that others wouldn’t come.

— And when he told you: "You are the best fighter", did you take these words seriously? Or was he just already in a state of affect?

— I was in a state of shock. That's why I said so.

— You said that you were afraid that backup might come to him because he was talking to them on the radio. At the same time, you let him say goodbye to the sky and his mother. Why? Wouldn't it have been more logical to finish him off so that he would shut up?

— I don’t know. It all happened too fast. I just wanted to complete the task and leave. I didn’t pay attention to the rest.

— And why did you want to complete the mission? Why are you fighting?

— If you decide to sign a contract, you have to go all the way.

— What should I go to the end for?

— For your homeland.

— But it doesn’t reach Yakutia.

— It doesn't matter. If you've decided to sign the contract, you have to go.

— Why did you decide to sign the contract?

— Out of a sense of duty. We are the last generation that saw the veterans of the Great Patriotic War alive. We grew up on their stories of how they fought honestly for their Motherland. I have been a patriot all my life. If they tell me to go, I will go.

— Did you communicate with veterans when you were at school? Or was your grandfather a front-line soldier?

— I didn’t live to see my grandfathers, they died. But in our village there lived old men who fought. When they went to the club or stood in line for bread, they told me about the war. I listened attentively and was proud of them. Then I wanted my children to be proud of me too. That’s how I signed the contract.

— Do you remember anything from their stories?

— No comment. Better not.

— Were these sad stories?

— Yes, there were sad ones too.

— Maybe the same situations happened to them as to you, but there were no cameras back then.

— There were no drones back then

'Markers of Empire': Ukraine left only pig farming to the place of Russian glory
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Dmitry Gubin

[REGNUM] The Poltava authorities demolished the monument to Peter I, located near the historical and cultural reserve "Field of the Battle of Poltava".

Acting Poltava mayor Ekaterina Yamshchikova announced that a memorial sign at the resting place of the Russian tsar on the second day after the Battle of Poltava was also dismantled. In addition to the monument to Peter I, the list of those excluded from the state register included a memorial plaque from the monument to the fortress commandant, Colonel Alexei Kelin. "The plaque will be dismantled," added the head of Poltava with a Russian surname.

The city authorities received the right to dismantle them after the Ministry of Culture decided to exclude 15 cultural heritage sites in Poltava from the state register of monuments in the country. The corresponding order was signed on January 31. Among them are the monuments to Peter I on the Swedish Tomb (the name of the street running from the Poltava Battlefield to the Pig Breeding Institute), the site of the tsar's command post, ten redoubts on the battlefield, and a monument to the defenders of the Poltava fortress.

Official, sanctioned vandalism is, of course, not the result of the personal initiative of Mrs. Yamshchikova and her colleagues from the Poltava City Council.

The revenge (albeit belated and symbolic) for the defeat of Charles XII and his younger partner Ivan Mazepa is the fruit of the efforts of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. This state structure, created during the Orange Revolution in the image and likeness of a similar Polish institution, is engaged in the “correct interpretation” of Ukrainian history.

The representative of this "ministry of truth" in Poltava region Oleg Pustovgar (who had previously distinguished himself by demolishing the monument to the "Soviet communist biologist" Ivan Michurin in the village of Mikhnovtsy) and the "mayor" Yamshchikova do not hide why and for what purpose they are destroying the memory of the Poltava victory. Or, to use the language of the Peter the Great era, they are turning a victory into an embarrassment - a defeat.

The battlefield monuments “were markers of imperial control, part of Russian propaganda that has distorted our history for decades,” Yamshchikova declared.

WAR AND MIRGOROD
But here’s the problem: if there had not been this “imperial control” over the development of the city of Russian military glory, Poltava would have remained what it was before the battle of 1709 – a rich but unremarkable Little Russian village like Mirgorod, glorified by Gogol.

But more than 315 years ago it happened here that Sweden ceased to be a European superpower and Russia won that status.

And the town of Poltava, which had not previously been famous for its crafts or fairs comparable to Sorochinskaya, became the provincial "capital", rebuilt under Alexander I according to the general plan, the center of trade and cultural life. And the birthplace of many historical figures who made Russia famous.

Field Marshal Ivan Paskevich-Erivansky (who beat the French, Turks, Persians and Polish rebels) was born in Poltava, and the great artist Vladimir Borovikovsky, the first Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Count Viktor Kochubey and Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol were born in the city's environs. The list of Poltava residents who contributed to the glory of Russia can be continued indefinitely.

The city's heyday in the 18th-19th centuries was the result of those very "markers of imperial control": Poltava's role in Russian history was never forgotten. And, in fact, the memorial to memory, which is now being systematically destroyed by the Ukrainian authorities, was essentially started to be created immediately after the "victory" of 1709.

CATHERINE THE GREAT AND HER CLUB OF REENACTORS
After the battle, a funeral for the dead took place near the village of Yakovtsy, and Tsar Peter himself erected a wooden cross on the mound.

And in June 1787, perhaps the first large-scale battle reconstruction in Russian history took place on the Poltava field.

Empress Catherine, honoring her great predecessor (remember the Latin inscription on the Bronze Horseman: Petro Primo - Catharina Secunda, "To Peter the Great - Catherine the Second"), ordered that the course of the battle be reproduced as accurately as possible and personally honored this performance with her presence.

The following were involved: 70 cavalry squadrons, four grenadier infantry battalions and four jaeger battalions. “The entire army, with 40 field artillery guns, attacked the enemy presented before them, and in all movements demonstrated perfect organization and commendable efficiency,” it was recorded in the Chamberlain’s Journal.

"The Battle of Poltava appeared before us," wrote Count Segur in his diary, "in a living, moving, animated picture, close to reality. The Russian army was divided into two halves, one of which occupied the Russian trenches, the other the Swedish redoubts. By order of Potemkin, all these maneuvers were carried out in an extremely harmonious, clear and quick manner before the eyes of the Tsarina, which could depict to us a semblance of this decisive battle."

Prince de Ligne wrote down the phrase of the Empress Mother, which is still relevant today: "Look at what the fate of states depends on. One day, a few hours decide their fate. One frivolous arrogance destroyed all the glory, all the successes of Charles XII. He who terrified Germany was defeated and fled from the field of Poltava, and without him we would not be here."

It is not surprising that the construction of monuments on the Poltava field began on the eve of a new test - in 1811. Bonaparte turned out to be the next, and not the last, conqueror, whose frivolous arrogance during the campaign against Russia destroyed all his glory and successes.

ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT ON MUSEUM OPENING DAY
The next stage in the development of the Poltava Memorial was the peaceful year of 1909. In honor of the 200th anniversary of the glorious victory of Russian arms, celebrations were held in Poltava in the presence of Nicholas II. Then the Museum of the Battle of Poltava was opened, which is now threatened with "zeroing out".

By the way, the museum was opened in the building of a former hospital for disabled veterans of the Russo-Turkish War - it was built at his own expense by the great surgeon Nikolai Sklifosovsky (his wife's estate was located in Yakovtsy, where the doctor received villagers for free).

And in 1909, at the opening, an assassination attempt on the sovereign could have taken place, but this “action” in the spirit of the current terrorist “exploits” of the GUR of Ukraine, fortunately, was prevented.

The police learned in advance that “the Maximalist employee Vladimirov, who traveled to Paris from Bialystok with your permission, told Captain Andreyev that he had attended a meeting of the Parisian Socialist Revolutionaries Maximalists… The question of the desirability of committing the regicide during the Tsar’s journey from St. Petersburg to Poltava or during the tour of troops and student delegations in Poltava was discussed” (from a coded telegram from the acting director of the police department Zuyev to the comrade minister of internal affairs Pavel Kurlov ).

Fortunately, there were no incidents and the march of the Preobrazhensky Regiment sounded over the field, which contains the following words:

Our grandfathers were glorious,

Both the Swede and the Pole remember them.

The eagle of victory soared above them

In the Poltava fields.

Soon the same march will sound on the battlefields of the war, which was then called the Second Patriotic War, and is now called the First World War.

THE NAZIS COULDN'T RAISE THEIR HAND. THEIR HEIRS WERE ABLE TO.
The “corrected” version of Ukrainian history, of course, does not include the fact that the destroyed monument to Peter I at the Poltava History Museum was erected in the war year of 1915 not by order of Nicholas II or the provincial authorities, but, as they would say now, thanks to “crowdfunding”. With funds collected by graduates of the Petrovsky Poltava Cadet Corps.

And the sculptor who created the bronze Peter in the uniform of a colonel of the Preobrazhensky Regiment is not some hated “Muscovite”, but a representative of a respected European nation, which is now a member of NATO and the EU.

True, the Estonian Amandus Heinrich Adamson, a member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, considered himself, not least of all, a subject of the Russian emperor and a figure in Russian art.

The roof of the Eliseev partnership house with a globe on Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg, the monument to sunken ships in Sevastopol, the monument to the battleship Rusalka in Reval (now Tallinn), and many other iconic sculptures were left behind by him. Adamson is revered in his homeland, he is consistently included in the top 100 greatest Estonians of the 20th century. But neither President Alar Karis nor the former Prime Minister and now head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas for some reason reacted in any way to the desecration of the work of the national genius, committed the day after Estonia's Independence Day. Why is that?

While the Estonian leadership is thinking about how to answer this question, we note that neither the Petliurites nor even the Nazi occupiers dared to touch the bronze sculpture of Peter.

Since 1915, for more than three decades, the 2.04 m tall statue (that was the height of the sovereign; according to Adamson’s design, the sculpture exactly repeated all the proportions of the tsar’s body) stood in the lobby of the building of the Petrovsky Cadet Corps, where the Higher Anti-Aircraft Missile Command School was located in Soviet times.

In 1950, the statue was moved to the Poltava Battle Museum, where it stood peacefully until the current "straightening of history", which had been "distorted" due to "imperial control". But it will no longer be possible to replay the Poltava victory.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
'David's Corridor': What Role Do the Druze Play in Israel's Plans to Dismember Syria
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Kirill Semenov

[REGNUM] The Israeli leadership would like to use the Syrian Druze as its “fifth column” in Syria, but so far the bet on this ethno-confessional minority has not paid off.

Despite the provocative statements of the Israeli leadership, the Syrian Druze continue to claim that their "qibla" (i.e. point of attraction) is Damascus, and they intend to remain Syrians, although tensions in relations with the transitional government continue to mount.

On Saturday, following an incident in the Damascus suburb of Jaramana, in which two militants from local Druze groups killed an employee of the Syrian government's Public Security Service (PSS - police), the town was blocked by government forces.

Israel decided to intervene in the situation, presenting itself as a "defender of the Druze." The Minister of Defense of the Jewish state, Israel Katz, then said that he had instructed the military to prepare for a march on Jaramana and to support the Druze if Syrian troops began to clear the suburbs.

"We will not allow the radical Islamic regime in Syria to harm the Druze. If the regime harms the Druze, we will strike at it," Katz said.

The head of the military department also assured that he “commits to our Druze brothers in Israel” to do everything possible to prevent harm from being caused to “their Druze brothers in Syria,” and intends to take all necessary steps to ensure their safety.

"DAVID'S CORRIDOR"
Israel is trying to take advantage of the unstable situation in Syria to finally destroy the country, which in the future could pose a threat to the Jewish state.

The events of October 7, 2023 have changed Israel greatly, primarily in its assessment of its own security and measures to ensure it. And now, perhaps, maintaining chaos in neighboring countries instead of stability seems to be the best option for Tel Aviv to mitigate any future challenges.

The Israeli leadership was not interested in the fall of the Assad regime, believing that this would lead to dangerous turbulence at the borders. Now it is doing everything to ensure that the new Syrian authorities are unable to stabilize the situation, and even wants Syria as a state to cease to exist in principle, disintegrating into several entities hostile to each other.

Of course, in such a scenario, individual “splashes” of these conflicts may also affect Israel, but these will definitely not be waves like the “Al-Aqsa flood,” and it will be much easier to counteract them.

Israel speaks about these plans openly and without embarrassment.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has publicly voiced the Netanyahu government's preference for a fragmented Syria. In a speech at the EU-Israel summit, Saar called for the country to be divided into separate autonomous states along perceived ethnic and religious lines. This, he said, is important to protect the country's minorities, who are under threat from the new government.

The plan to dismember Syria has already received the unofficial name “David’s Corridor” in Israel.

It proposes, at the first stage, the creation of a security zone in southern Syria in the provinces of Daraa and Quneitra bordering Israel. The Druze in the neighboring province of Suwayda, where they constitute the majority, would be able to rely on this zone. This would create a continuous strip of Israeli control in southern Syria, and the Druze would become a local support for Israel, just as the Lebanese Christians - the Maronites - once did in the puppet state of southern Lebanon before 2000.

The reality of the launch of the first stage of the scenario is indicated by the ultimatum demands voiced by the Netanyahu government regarding the withdrawal of all armed forces of the new Syrian government from the southern regions of Syria.

In the second stage, the "David Corridor" is planned to be extended through the desert areas along the border with Iraq, relying on the American base at At-Tanf. This security belt should be provided by Arab tribes that were part of the pro-American "Free Syrian Army" based at At-Tanf, and be extended to the territories controlled by the Kurdish formations of the "Syrian Democratic Forces" in northeastern Syria.

Thus, Israel will be cut off from Iraq with its numerous Shiite pro-Iranian groups by a continuous strip of forces allied to it and the US, and the “Islamist” government in Damascus will be isolated.

For this purpose, the Alawites in the provinces of Tartus and Latakia, according to this plan, must also separate from Syria, forming their own quasi-state.

In connection with this, there have already been rumors in the Western press that Israel would like Russian bases to remain in Syria, and is negotiating this not only with Russia itself, but also with the United States.

Obviously, this is a hint that the Russian side should become the curator of the “Alawite state,” while the United States will continue to look after the Kurdish state, and Israel will look after the Druze state, connected by the “David Corridor.”

But the aim of these information provocations is also to present Russia as an accomplice in the division of Syria and to spoil the background of Moscow’s relations with Damascus, as well as with other Arab states, as well as Turkey.

However, the large number of publications in support of the separation of the Alawites from the Syrian state in the Russian-language segment of various social networks adds credibility to this rumor.

DRUZE BETWEEN THE HAMMER OF TEL AVIV AND THE ANVIL OF DAMASCUS
Israel's far-reaching plans have met a serious obstacle in the form of the Syrian Druze themselves.

The Druze of the southern provinces and the forces of Jaramana quickly rejected any external assistance, reaffirming the unity and indivisibility of Syria. Later, demonstrations under Syrian flags were held in Druze areas against the statements of Netanyahu and Katz.

As Alain Saab, a Russian researcher of the Druze community with Druze roots, told Regnum news agency, it is noteworthy that it was the Druze groups and influential political figures from the As-Suwayda region that acted as mediators in resolving the conflict between the population of Jaramana and the Public Security Service (PSS) of the transitional government.

In particular, a significant role was played by Laith al-Balous, an influential Druze political figure and leader of the Forces of the Sheikhs of Dignity (Rijal al-Karama) group, who became a de facto mediator between Damascus and Jaramane.

Thus, according to the expert, constant contacts between the Druze leaders and the GSS helped to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and escalation: now there is silence in the Jaramana area, the GSS units have fully entered the center of the area and set up checkpoints, and local forces and Damascus are taking further steps to resolve the conflict.

In turn, the leader of the Druze in Lebanon, Walid Jumblatt, who also has great influence among the Druze communities in Syria and Israel, said on Sunday that he would soon visit Syria to meet with its interim president, Ahmed al-Sharaa, and help ease tensions in the Druze community in that country and help resolve all disputes between it and Damascus.

"Free Syrians must be careful of Israeli plots," he told a news conference on Sunday, accusing Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu of creating sectarian division and chaos in Syria.

On the other hand, as Alain Saab noted, the Druze-populated province of As-Suwayda is indeed playing its own game, enjoying the political support of the Israeli Druze when necessary. The nature of this “game” is to systematically pressure Damascus to obtain some autonomous privileges in the overall Syrian context.

However, the connection between the Syrian Druze and the Israelis should not be equated with the connection between the Syrian Druze and Israel itself.

Many Syrian Druze do have relatives in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, which Tel Aviv has announced its annexation of. However, it is important to note that the Druze of that part of the Golan Heights retain a Syrian national identity. To this day, the Druze from the Golan do not serve in the Israeli army and most do not have Israeli citizenship.

At the same time, one cannot underestimate the activities of the Israeli intelligence services, primarily the Mossad, which uses some Israeli Druze to create pro-Israeli networks among the Druze community in Syria.

Obviously, the so-called “Military Council” of Suwayda, created back in December, can be considered an Israel-oriented structure, but it made its presence known most loudly after the announcement of Israel’s plans to divide Syria.

However, the influence of this group among the Syrian Druze is insignificant, although its ranks include highly qualified military personnel who were trained at the American base at Al-Tanf back in 2023.

The "Mountain Brigade" and "Karam Sheikh Forces" significantly outnumber this faction. Despite its active PR (not without the help of Israeli information resources), at the moment this structure, according to official statements, is supported by four villages and a number of virtually unknown groups.

The Military Council also has no support from large armed groups or religious leaders.

THE KEY TO THE PROBLEM IS IN DAMASCUS
However, which side the Druze end up on will largely depend on the new Syrian authorities themselves.

On the one hand, Sunni Arabs and Druze do not have the same antagonism as Sunnis and Alawites, and one can speak of much greater mutual understanding.

Most Druze did not support the regime of Bashar al-Assad and did not participate on his side in the civil war. Quite the contrary, in the last stage of the conflict, Druze armed groups openly opposed Assad, advancing towards Damascus, disarming parts of the collapsed government.

On the other hand, the Druze certainly remain distrustful of the “Islamist” government in Damascus.

The Druze already had negative experiences with the Jabhat al-Nusra* group even before it became Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)*.

Thus, under pressure from jihadists, the Druze communities in Idlib were forced to accept Islam (although, by the way, a statement from their leaders was enough for this and no evidence was required from each Druze). And several Druze units fighting in the ranks of the opposition in southern Syria were surrounded and captured by radicals after they were declared “apostates,” and only the intervention of other rebel factions allowed them to save their lives and be free again, but after that the Druze no longer joined the ranks of the armed opposition.

Now many problems between the new authorities and the Druze have been resolved.

In particular, in January, the Public Security Forces (PSF) of the transitional government were deployed in the province of Suwayda, although the Druze had previously prevented their entry into the region.

The Military Operations Department forces are also present in Suwayda, including separating warring Druze factions from local Bedouin tribes. But it is the Druze factions that are still the key guarantor of security in the province, although Damascus is not opposed to some factions helping the security services, as this can speed up their integration and create a barrier to threats from Israel.

But mistrust not only remains, but is generally growing.

Thus, according to expert Alain Saab, the Druze initially treated HTS* with some apprehension, but also with hope.

“Now, in my opinion, everyone is increasingly afraid of HTS,” the expert noted, “but Julani (al-Sharaa) is perceived as being separate (from the group he led. — Ed.) and more positive.”

In general, as Saaba notes, there is still cautious support for the new Syrian authorities among the Druze, but after the creation of the “Military Council” and the conflict in Jaramana, calls for a forceful solution to the Druze issue can be heard from the most radical elements of HTS*, “and this is seriously damaging support for Damascus among the Druze.”

According to the expert, if the new government can somehow stop all this disinformation and fakes, then a warming will occur.

If not, then on one side Israel, and on the other the radicals themselves will “construct a conflict.”

But in any case, Israel will continue to put pressure on Syria, using the information space to incite hatred towards the Druze on the part of Sunni Arabs and, conversely, with the aim of expanding the ethno-confessional conflict and further dividing Syria.

Members of Syria's new authorities security forces deploy in the mostly Druze and Syrian forces have entered a majority Druze and Christian suburb on the outskirts of Damascus and stabilized the situation, a local source said on Monday, after deadly clashes with Druze gunmen.

“The situation in Jarmana is stable. Yesterday, the General Security Forces and police entered the city with the cooperation of the city’s people, and there is good cooperation between the people and the police,” Rabie Munther, a member of the Jarmana Civil Action Group, told Rudaw’s Nalin Hassan.

He said that Syrian forces entered the town on Sunday night following 48 hours of tensions and following mediation between dignitaries and Syrian government authorities.

Security is now being maintained jointly by the police and the area’s residents, according to Munther.

“We have not stopped basic services and institutions for even a second since the fall of the regime until now,” he stressed.

Jaramana, a mostly Druze and Christian suburb of the capital Damascus, has witnessed tensions for days following a fatal shooting at a checkpoint. Clashes ensued between security forces and local gunmen, resulting in another death and nine others injured.

Munther explained that what happened was a “personal matter,” where unknown gunmen attacked a car.

Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) led the rebel coalition that toppled Bashar al-Assad’s regime in early December. Its then leader and now Syria’s interim President, Ahmad al-Sharaa, has repeatedly pledged to protect the rights of all Syrians. In December, the rebel coalition, including the HTS, agreed to merge into the Syrian defense ministry.

The international community has expressed concern that the new Islamist authorities in Damascus may impose strict Islamic rule in Syria, threatening the country’s minority groups such as Kurds, Druze, Christians, and Alawites.

On Saturday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned the Damascus administration to “not harm the Druze,” stressing that Syrian authorities would “suffer the consequences” if they harmed the community.

In Syria’s southern Druze-majority Suwayda province, both armed and political factions have refused to disband their forces.

Anomalies still rule the roost: what kind of weather awaits Russians in March
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Mikhail Zakharov

[REGNUM] The first day of spring set Muscovites up for the imminent spring, becoming one of the warmest in the last century. According to meteorologists, the maximum air temperature at VDNKh reached +4.9 degrees, and in Balchug it was as much as +5.6 degrees.

“This day in Moscow was among the five warmest in the current century, and among the 10 warmest in the entire history of instrumental observations, which have been conducted at the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy (TAA) weather station since 1879,” notes Tatyana Pozdnyakova, chief specialist at the Meteonovosti news agency.

However, in the coming days the weather may present unpleasant surprises to the capital's residents with the return of wet snow, rain and slush. In Central Russia, there is still no point in expecting heat in early March, although overall the month will be quite warm, meteorologists believe.

It is quite possible that the weather conditions will surprise residents of other regions of our country. After all, given that climate change along with the growth of average annual temperatures is occurring all over the planet, the weather behavior is becoming very, very capricious.

CLIMATE SWINGS
The weather has been confusing forecasters lately and surprising us with abnormal temperatures. This winter, Russia has set many records: in the regions, extremely high temperatures were followed by extremely low ones.

In January, a number of regions experienced abnormally warm weather, when Russians felt an almost March thaw, and the snow on the streets almost completely melted.

But February brought significant cold weather. In the middle of the month, the air temperature in Moscow and the Moscow region dropped below normal by 1–1.5 degrees. And on the night of the 24th, the thermometers froze at -19.8 degrees, which was the lowest reading in the capital region.

Frost records were also broken in the south of Russia. The minimum air temperature reached a record in Stavropol, where on February 26 the frost intensified to -17.9 degrees. But while the south of Russia was in the grip of cold, climate anomalies brought significant warmth to the north.

In Syktyvkar on February 26 it was +4.5 degrees - a whole degree warmer than in Sochi. In Komi, where the cyclone brought a powerful portion of Atlantic warmth, snowdrifts began to melt, but heavy snowfalls and significant frosts came to the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District.

“This is not the first time that the current winter has presented residents of European Russia with an amazing surprise: the air temperature in the northern regions is becoming higher than in the southern regions,” noted Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, at the end of February.

DROUGHTS AND FIRES
Along with the unusual temperatures came significant changes in humidity. According to experts, the 2024/2025 winter season in Moscow turned out to be very dry. "The last time a drier February was observed in the capital was in the record-breaking driest year in history, 1984, when only 2 mm of precipitation fell," says Mikhail Leus.

According to climatologist and meteorologist Nikolai Tereshonok, this year's spring will also be dry, and not only in Moscow and the Moscow region. The deficit of soil moisture, low precipitation and global warming will make themselves felt, which will be expressed in hurricanes, fire hazards and other negative phenomena.

Meanwhile, a number of Russian regions are already suffering from fire. In early March, wildfires engulfed thousands of hectares in Primorye. Residents of the region shared videos of cars literally driving through flames.

They are trying their best to contain the rampant elements, but the human factor is interfering. "With the strengthening of the wind, the fire situation is becoming more complicated, so it is important right now to refrain from starting a fire anywhere," Primorsky Governor Oleg Kozhemyako reported on his Telegram channel.

Federal aviation forest protection specialists note that by May the area of fires may increase and extend beyond Primorye, and Khabarovsk Krai, Amur Region and Transbaikalia will be at risk.

Due to warm and dry weather, many regions of Russia may face not only forest fires, but also invasions of locusts and other pests. As climatologist Sergei Verkhovets says, southern pests may come to places where the weather has not been favorable for their life activity before.

"Due to favorable dry conditions and southern winds, a wave of locusts is, accordingly, rolling into the southern regions of Siberia," Verkhovets believes. " No one is ruling out the arrival of these insects in the steppe territories, in the same Khakassia and Tuva."

WHAT WILL MARCH BE LIKE?
The first attempt of spring to break through to the central regions of Russia is timid: cloudy weather with light precipitation is expected in the capital region this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday the wind will increase, with gusts reaching 12 meters per second. Meteorological spring will come to the capital only after March 10.

On International Women's Day in Moscow it will be cloudy, up to +3 degrees, but mostly without precipitation, says Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the crisis management department of Roshydromet. There will still be snow, and at night a slight minus is predicted, so Moscow motorists do not have to rush to change their tires yet.

While Moscow will be moderately cold, Arctic air will bring abnormal frosts to the Urals and Siberia, where the temperature may fall by 8-13 degrees below normal. But in Karelia, Murmansk, Leningrad, Novgorod, Arkhangelsk regions and the Komi Republic it will be warm, where the temperature may be 10 degrees above normal.

According to meteorologist Evgeny Tishkovets, spring will arrive ahead of schedule in Central Russia in March: the average monthly air temperature will be 3–5 degrees higher than the climatic norm, and on some days the air may warm up to +10 degrees.

In this case, the snow cover in the capital will disappear in the second ten days of March, which is a month earlier than the established dates. "In the second half of March, even April warmth may blow," Tishkovets sums up.

Scientists warn of magnetic storm on Earth on March 4 and 5
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] A weak magnetic storm is expected on Earth in the evening of March 4, it will continue throughout the next day. This was reported on March 3 by specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS) and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS.

According to information on the laboratory's website, the intensity of the magnetic storm will be 5 points out of 10 possible (G1, weak storm according to the international classification), and it will reach its peak on the night of March 5.

It is specified that by 12:00 Moscow time on March 5, the disturbance of the magnetosphere will begin to weaken and the storm will end by the evening.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on February 27, the IKI RAS laboratory reported that until March 2, the Earth will be in the zone of influence of the coronal hole on the Sun, which can cause an increase in geomagnetic activity. It was specified that there are currently two large coronal holes on the star, located on its opposite sides.

Earlier, on February 26, scientists reported that a powerful plasma emission would pass close to the Earth, but would not affect it. On the night of February 25, the Sun ejected the largest plasma cloud this year.

Afghanistan
Clashes Erupt Between Islamic Emirate, Pakistani Forces at Torkham: 1 Afghan dead
[ToloNews] Local residents report that forces of the Islamic Emirate and Pak military personnel engaged in a clash at Torkham around 12:30 AM on Sunday.

According to local sources, the shooting was initiated by Pak forces against the Islamic Emirate troops and their checkpoints. As a result, some shops and houses of civilians were also affected.

The clash occurred while hundreds of travelers and patients, along with thousands of freight trucks, remained stranded on both sides of the Torkham crossing.

Abdul Mateen Qani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, commented on the incident: "The Pak side initiated the conflict around midnight, which lasted for eleven days. Our defensive forces were compelled to respond, resulting in the destruction of some opposing checkpoints and casualties on their side. On our side, one Mujahid was martyred, and two others were maimed. The issue has now been resolved."

"When the clash happened last night, families were in a dire situation. It was raining, and they had to leave their homes," said Hemat Shinwari, a local resident.

"Some people were asleep, while others had just returned from Taraweeh prayers when the gunfire started at midnight. The fighting was intense, forcing families to abandon their homes and leave the area overnight," said Lal Nazar, another resident.

Meanwhile,
...back at the revival hall, the SWAT team had finally arrived...
truck drivers urge Pak authorities to resolve issues with Afghanistan through dialogue instead of conflict and to reopen the Torkham crossing as soon as possible.

"Thousands of trucks are stuck by the roadsides. It has been ten days since we have been here. We request that the route be reopened because we are extremely worried," said Rahmat Gul, a truck driver at Torkham.

This is not the first time Pak forces have opened fire on the Islamic Emirate's troops. Previously, Pak military personnel have repeatedly attacked Afghanistan's security forces without any justification.

The Torkham crossing was closed to all movement ten days ago when Islamic Emirate forces were constructing facilities on their side of the hypothetical Durand Line, prompting Pakistain to block access.
At least one person has been killed in clashes between Pakistani and Taliban security forces at the Torkham border crossing. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior confirmed that one member of its security forces died and two others were injured in the overnight fighting. The Torkham crossing, a key transit point, was closed last month by Pakistan after a dispute over Afghanistan’s construction of a new border post.

Two Pakistani security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity to Aljazeera that members of their security forces had also been wounded in the clashes. The violence erupted on the first working day of Ramadan, a time when food imports from Pakistan typically peak in Afghanistan.

The fighting has led to about 5,000 trucks, carrying essential goods, being stranded on both sides of the border. These trucks have been stuck in harsh winter conditions, creating a significant logistical and humanitarian crisis. The conflict is expected to worsen the already dire economic situation in Afghanistan, where millions face hunger and nearly half the population needs humanitarian aid to survive, according to the United Nations.

The Torkham border crossing has a history of being closed due to deadly incidents involving crossfire between Pakistani and Taliban forces. Pakistan has long accused Afghanistan of harboring militants who attack from Afghanistan soil, a claim denied by the Taliban government. In December, Pakistan conducted military strikes on Afghanistan territory, killing dozens.

Abdul Mateen Qani, a spokesperson for the Taliban Interior Ministry, blamed Pakistan for initiating the violence, stating that Taliban security forces acted defensively after failed dialogue attempts. A Pakistani official, however, claimed that the Taliban opened fire unprovoked, targeting Pakistan’s border post with automatic weapons, prompting a return of fire.

The closure of the Torkham crossing has resulted in significant economic losses. According to local officials, the closure has caused at least $15 million in damages to Pakistan, while Afghan traders are losing $500,000 a day due to the disruption of trade.

Somali Military Kills 40 Al-Shabab Militants in Operation in Hirshabelle
[ShabelleMedia] The Somali military announced Monday that it had killed more than 40 al-Shabaab
... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
hard boyz during a coordinated operation in the central Hirshabelle state, marking a significant blow to the al-Qaeda-linked bully boy group.

Somalia’s national television first reported the operation on Sunday, stating that over 40 fighters were "eliminated" in what authorities described as a successful mission. A statement from the Somali army later confirmed that the offensive took place in the Biya Cadde area, with support from international partners.

"The national armed forces, alongside international allies and vigilant local communities, continue their efforts to eliminate terrorist threats," the army said in a post on the social media platform X.

Al-Shabaab, once controlled large swathes of territory in the country. The group was forced to abandon Mogadishu in 2011 after a sustained military push, shifting to a guerilla campaign against the Somali government and its allies. In February 2012, al-Shabaab formally pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda.

Somalia has grappled with persistent insecurity for years, with al-Shabaab and the ISIS/ISIS groups posing the most significant threats to stability in the Horn of Africa nation. The latest operation underscores ongoing efforts by Somali forces and their international backers to dismantle the bully boys’ networks.

Details of casualties on the military side, if any, were not disclosed in the statement. The army said operations against al-Shabaab would persist as part of its broader campaign to restore peace and security.
