#4  Geert Wilders, whose father is Dutch and mother is half Indonesian, came out of the center-right, politically. He layered on top of that a strong distrust of the EU, plus a love of Israel and a hatred of being colonized by Islam after spending some time travelling throughout the Middle East as a young man. Politically he is a plain vanilla European nationalist populist: classical liberal in terms of economic and personal freedom issues, and a rejection of mass immigration of Moslem colonists.

His homosexuality is immaterial to any of that.

US airstrikes in Somalia killed up to 174 people in 2025, monitoring group says
[Garowe] At least 109 to 174 people have been killed in 34 U.S. airstrikes conducted in Somalia so far in 2025, according to a report released by the New America Foundation, a Washington-based policy institute that monitors American drone and airstrike campaigns worldwide.

The organization did not specify the exact number of non-combatants killed. During Trump's first term, AFRICOM carried out 219 airstrikes in Somalia that left 6-31 civilians dead, according to the report.

The rise in airstrikes coincides with an escalation in U.S. military operations against extremist groups operating in Somalia, including al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia. U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) has intensified its efforts to support the Somali government in counterterrorism operations across the country.

General Michael Langley, commander of AFRICOM, recently acknowledged the uptick in strikes, saying the U.S. remains committed to “disrupting and degrading” extremist networks that pose a threat to regional and international stability.

Somalia has seen a surge in violence in recent months, with U.S. airpower playing an increasingly visible role in operations aimed at dismantling insurgent strongholds in remote regions.

US conducts two air strikes against ISIS in Somalia, says AFRICOM
[ShabelleMedia] The United States military carried out two air strikes targeting ISIS turbans in Somalia late last week, U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said Sunday, amid ongoing efforts to counter krazed killer threats in the Horn of Africa.

The strikes took place on May 31 and June 1, 2025, approximately 72 kilometers south of the port city of Bosaso in the semi-autonomous Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...

While no casualty figures were disclosed, the command underscored the persistent threat posed by ISIS-Somalia, noting the group’s "demonstrated ability and willingness to attack U.S. forces."

AFRICOM said initial assessments indicated no civilian casualties and that the strikes were carried out in coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia.

The operations mark the latest in a series of U.S. military actions aimed at supporting Somali and regional forces in countering krazed killer groups, including both ISIS and the larger al-Shabaab

SDF, Damascus swap nearly 500 prisoners
[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the interim government in Damascus conducted a second round of prisoner swaps in northern Aleppo on Monday, involving approximately 500 detainees from both sides.

The SDF-linked Ronahi TV reported that a total of 469 detainees from both sides were released, including 293 Kurdish fighters and civilians, as well as 176 members of groups affiliated to the Damascus authorities.

Syria’s state-run SANA roughly estimated the figure at around 400.

The state-owned Syrian news channel, al-Ikhbariyah, on Monday relayed that the Internal Security Directorate in Aleppo had finalized preparations for the exchange, deploying forces to the al-Awarid area, near the entrance of the Kurdish-majority Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in northern Aleppo.

Ikhbariah added that the prisoner swap was carried out under the terms of the landmark agreement signed on March 10 between SDF commander Mazloum Abdi and Syria’s interim president Ahmed al-Sharaa. The Abdi-Sharaa deal outlines the integration of "all civil and military institutions in northeast Syria [Rojava] under the administration of the Syrian state."

In early April, the SDF and the Damascus administration signed a follow up agreement - reportedly in the presence of American representation. This subsequent deal established a framework for joint security oversight in northern Aleppo’s Kurdish-majority quarters of Ashrafieh and Sheikh Maqsood, and provisions for ongoing prisoner exchanges.

The second round of prisoner exchange "comes as a culmination of previous negotiation rounds within a comprehensive national vision to address humanitarian and security issues in the country’s northeast," Ikhbariah said.

The swap of the second batch of prisoners had initially been scheduled for the previous week but was reportedly postponed after Damascus refused to release several SDF female fighters. Importantly, Monday's exchange included seven female fighters of the SDF, according to a statement by the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). The latter is the all-women branch of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) - the backbone of the SDF.

The first round of the swap took place in early April, during which the SDF secured the release of 146 captives, while the Syrian government received 97 of its detainees.

Monday’s prisoner exchange notably came a day after a delegation from northeast Syria (Rojava) met on Sunday with the committee appointed by Syria’s new leadership to finalize the implementation of the Abdi-Sharaa March agreement.

The Rojava representatives said the talks focused on "reactivating" the file on Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, with the aim of resolving it in a manner that "serves stability and civil peace."

Gazans report several killed in shooting near aid center for third straight morning
[IsraelTimes] Media outlets in Gaza report that hospitals in Gaza have received several people killed or injured after being hit by gunfire while waiting for humanitarian aid at a newly opened distribution center in Rafah. Some websites affiliated with the Hamas terror group report that 15 people were killed.

There is no confirmation of the reports.

The claims come after two days of similar reports out of Rafah, with 31 people reported killed early Sunday and three more on Monday, according to Hamas, eyewitnesses and aid groups.

The IDF and the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which runs the assistance distribution site, have denied that shootings occurred in the area during those hours, though a military official said warning shots were fired at individuals about a kilometer away early Sunday and again on Monday. According to the Red Cross, 179 people wounded by gunfire and shrapnel were brought to a field hospital it operates in Rafah Sunday morning, and 50 more on Monday morning.

IDF troops shoot Palestinian allegedly planning to throw rocks at West Bank highway
[IsraelTimes] A Palestinian suspect who allegedly was planning to throw rocks at a highway in the West Bank was shot by Israeli troops a short while ago, the military says.

Troops of the 636th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit had spotted the suspect near the village of Sinjil as he was attempting to hurl stones on a nearby road, the military says.

The IDF says the suspect threw two bottles with “dangerous material” in them at the forces, and the soldiers returned fire.

Egyptian news outlets paint connection between Colorado attacker and Muslim Brotherhood
[Jpost] US President Donald Trump echoed the theme on Truth Social, writing that the attack showed why “the Muslim Brotherhood must stay banned and its sympathisers removed.”

Egyptian news outlets have seized on Sunday’s arson attack in Boulder, Colorado, to revive allegations against the Muslim Brotherhood, branding the Egyptian-born suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, as a supporter of the outlawed movement even though US investigators have provided no such finding.

Soliman, 45, is accused of hurling Molotov cocktails and blasting a makeshift flamethrower at elderly participants in a weekly walk on Pearl Street that calls for the release of 58 Israeli hostages held by Hamas. 12 people were injured, including a Holocaust survivor; one victim remained in critical condition on Monday evening, police said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is treating the incident as a suspected lone-actor hate crime. Court filings show that Soliman entered the United States on a B-1/B-2 tourist visa in August 2022, overstayed when it expired in February 2023 and received a one-year work permit that lapsed this past March. Homeland Security officials said he had made a failed asylum attempt in 2005. He is being held in Boulder County Jail on five felony counts, including attempted first-degree murder and use of incendiary devices, with bail set at $10 million.

The Cairo-based news portal Egypt Telegraph ran a prominent banner reading, “Mansoura man behind Colorado attack ‘liked’ Ikhwan pages,” claiming that archived screenshots from a Facebook account bearing Soliman’s name showed repeated endorsements of Muslim Brotherhood content and the slogan “Islam is the solution.” The site did not publish the images.

Several pro-government talk shows echoed the report, arguing that the Boulder flames reflected what they called a pattern of Brotherhood-inspired violence exported abroad since the movement was banned in Egypt in 2013. While commentators uniformly condemned the assault as terrorism, they insisted it underscored the need for Western governments to keep the Brotherhood on terror watch lists.

Independent analysts urged caution. “Free-Palestine rhetoric is not unique to the Brotherhood, and so far we have only a single media claim about old social-media posts,” said Amr Fathy, a researcher at the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs. “Any organisational link must come from forensic evidence, not speculation on television.”

US law enforcement agencies have not commented on Soliman’s political affiliations. A spokesperson for the FBI’s Denver field office declined to discuss “any associations or material support” while the investigation is under way.

The Anti-Defamation League noted that fringe Arabic-language social-media accounts praised Soliman as a “hero,” but said mainstream Arab outlets reported the attack as straight crime news. “The Egyptian media focus on the Brotherhood is a domestic political lens, not a reflection of verified facts,” an ADL statement said.

Egyptian newspapers also highlighted that Soliman’s US visa was issued after 2021, with columnists faulting what they called lax American screening.

Ukraine strike decimates only bridge connecting Russia and Crimea, cutting crucial supply line

[NY Post] Ukraine has carried out a devastating strike on the only bridge connecting Russia and the occupied province of Crimea, severing a vital supply line for President Vladimir Putin’s forces, Ukraine’s security service announced.

Dramatic video shows the piers of the Crimean Bridge, also known as the Kerch Bridge, exploding on Tuesday morning after Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) agents mined it following a monthslong operation.

Ukrainian special forces used more than 2,400 pounds of explosives, which "severely damaged" the underwater pillars supporting the road and rail crossing, the SBU wrote on Telegram alongside the video.

This is the third attack on the Kerch Bridge by Ukrainian forces since the start of the war in February 2022.

Russian officials did not immediately respond to Ukraine’s claims about the attack, but all traffic on the bridge was suspended Tuesday morning, the operator for the crossing announced on its official Telegram account.

Steve Bannon Says Lindsey Graham Should Be Arrested Over Ukraine Support
[Newsweek] Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon railed against Republican Senator Lindsey Graham over Graham's support for a flurry of drone strikes Ukraine launched over the weekend that battered Russia's strategic aviation capabilities.

Newsweek reached out to Graham's office for comment via email.

The scale and sophistication of Ukraine's strikes were unprecedented and could have far-reaching geopolitical consequences.

The drones were transported to Russia and stored in trucks carrying cargo units with retractable roofs that were parked near the air bases and launched remotely.

Kyiv said its attack, which has been described as Russia's "Pearl Harbor," struck four bases and took out 41 (about one-third) of Russia's strategic bombers.

Moscow has said only several of its warplanes were struck.

Graham, who visited Ukraine on Friday along with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, praised the strikes on Sunday, calling Kyiv "ever-resourceful."

"The ever-resourceful Ukraine used creative drone warfare tactics to successfully attack Russian bombers and military assets used to kill Ukrainian citizens and destroy their country," the South Carolina senator posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Antisemitism Is Here. So Is the Bear Jew Option.
[PJMedia] It happened again yesterday, this time in Boulder, with peaceful Jewish demonstrators set ablaze with a makeshift flamethrower by a vicious antisemite named Mohamed Sabry Soliman.

But Jews are somehow modern Nazis? Yeah, right.

PJ Media's own Sarah Anderson has all the details, so I won't repeat them here. But there are still a few things we need to talk about — even while Soliman’s victims remain hospitalized.

As many others pointed out, perhaps the most worrisome thing about Sunday's violence is that it was not met with immediate retaliatory violence — what decent and reasonable people call "justice." It hardly seems right that Soliman wasn't riddled with bullets from prepared and trained civilians before the last syllable of "Free Palestine" erupted from his lungs.

Then again, this is Boulder, where "decent and reasonable" are in dangerously short supply. Literally.

It's one thing for someone like Soliman to attack two older Jews — one a Holocaust survivor. But what if he'd met the Bear Jew instead?

I recently rewatched Quentin Tarantino's World War II fairy-tale/action/grindhouse flick, "Inglourious Basterds," co-starring Eli Roth as Staff Sgt. Donny Donowitz, aka the Bear Jew. Set in Occupied France, a ragtag team of Jewish-American soldiers makes its way through Paris to assassinate a group of Nazi leaders — including Hitler himself. Donowitz's claim to fame is smashing Nazi skulls with a baseball bat.

It's satisfying stuff, if you're into dead Nazis. Personally, I take the Indiana Jones approach: "Nazis. I hate these guys."

And Another Thing: "Inglourious Basterds" was Tarantino's first — but not only — historical rewrite. The other was "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," in which a fading film star (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his body man (Brad Pitt) save a pregnant Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) from the Manson family. That they kill off the murderous Manson family members in imaginatively gruesome ways just makes the bloody fairy-tale ending that much more satisfying. "Inglourious Basterds" entertained me, but "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" was the first Tarantino flick that moved me.

America, however, is not Occupied France. A real-world protest is not a set piece in a Hollywood revenge fantasy. But Americans — particularly American Jews — must channel the Bear Jew’s unapologetic readiness to meet deadly evil with necessary force.

"Jews need to arm up," Georgetown law professor Randy Barnett warned today. "Especially for public gatherings. Become a hard target."

Not just arm up — and not just Jews. As my friend and Townhall colleague Kurt Schlichter keeps reminding people, citizenship comes with the responsibility to defend your property, yourself, your family, your neighbors, and your Constitution. Arm yourself but also get trained, and keep that training sharp with regular trips to the range (I've been negligent lately on that score; I'll do better) and training aids like the Mantis Laser Academy kit.

"Remember when George Bush said we have to fight them over there or else we'll end up fighting them over here?" former GOP operative Logan Dobson asked earlier today. "He was right, but I don't think he anticipated we'd invite them in."

Well, they're here. What are we going to do about it?

"Why did 2 million illegal aliens pay more to get away?" Homan told Hannity. "They could have paid half of what they paid to cross the border, turn themselves into border patrol agents, get released that same day, get a free airline ticket to the city of their choice, get a free hotel room, get three meals a day, plus free medical care and work authorization."

"Two million people paid more to get away," he argued. "They didn’t want to be vetted. They didn’t want to be fingerprinted. Why?"

"This scares the hell out of me and I’ve been doing this for 40 years. It should have scared the hell out of every American what the Biden administration did."

The American Dream Died by Suicide
[The Free Press] Sometimes it seems as if President Trump’s trade agenda is built upon nothing more than pure ego. The recent buzz among Wall Street traders was the TACO meme—"Trump always chickens out" on tariffs. It got under the president’s skin, and two days later he went ahead and doubled tariffs on imported steel. Cause and effect? In this administration, you can never tell.

But beneath the chaos and the antics, MAGA economics are built on a powerful, enduring story: America’s working class—the people who build, drill, and weld, Americans who clock in, get their hands dirty, and wear uniforms at work—have been shafted by globalization and an elitist system of trade that is hastening their doom. It is an emotionally gripping narrative built on a sliver of truth and vast helpings of myth. It ignores the three H’s: home prices, healthcare costs, and higher-education expenses.

The myth has the upper hand, driving Trump’s tariffs and threatening to rekindle inflation and needlessly crash the economy. The first-order effect of the myth is straightforward: higher prices on everyday products. Whether tariffs are 10 percent or higher, costs borne by U.S. importers will be passed on to customers. Everything from diapers to T-shirts to cars and washing machines will get more expensive, and those increased costs land more heavily on everyday wage earners, since they spend more of their earnings on goods such as these than the wealthy, who spend more on luxuries like vacations and Pilates classes.

Then there is the ill-defined term working class. It is the focus of Trump’s trade policy, but who belongs to America’s working class? Manufacturing workers, who make up only 8 percent of the U.S. workforce? Or does it also include the vastly larger group of not-wealthy workers, from cashiers and nursing assistants to truckers, baristas, and schoolteachers, whose jobs are not connected to trade—or may even benefit from it? Tariffs are a bad deal for them.

With the exception of industries vital for national security, such as shipbuilding and semiconductors, upending the American economy for the purpose of landing more factories doesn’t make sense, not when there are persistent labor shortages in manufacturing: According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were 449,000 unfilled jobs as of March. MAGA nostalgia for the blue-collar glory days of the 1950s overlooks the fact that those factory jobs were dangerous, dirty, and monotonous. They are not as hazardous today, but twenty-first-century Americans aren’t interested in a life on the factory floor.

According to a Cato Institute survey, 80 percent of Americans believe it would be good if more Americans worked in factories, but only 25 percent say they would be better off in a factory job. As Dave Chappelle said in 2017, "I want to wear Nikes—I don’t want to make them."

The lack of enthusiasm for factory work is understandable, especially when many workers have more appealing alternatives. Consider other hands-on blue-collar jobs. Employers are offering some high-school students $70,000 a year to work in trades after they graduate. Plumbers, electricians, and heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) specialists have jobs that can’t be shipped overseas and might even be immune to artificial intelligence, with salaries that can grow to six figures over time. Plumbers who start as apprentices often become plumbing-company owners. Entrepreneur is a career trajectory that doesn’t exist for hourly factory workers.

There is a grim tale told about the American economy over the past several generations: It has all been downhill for the working class, the middle class is vanishing, and American wages have been relentlessly punished by a heartless system of global trade that runs on Chinese workers toiling in near-slave-like conditions.

The statistics tell a different story. The median wages of American workers climbed 29 percent from 1979 to 2024, adjusted for inflation. (This period encompasses the latest era of globalization, which accelerated in the early 1990s.) While the share of U.S. households considered middle-income ($35,000 to $100,000) has notably declined—from 55 percent in 1967 to 38 percent in 2023—that is largely because of movement toward the top of the household income chart, according to economist Mark J. Perry. In 1967, only 13 percent of households were considered high-income ($100,000 or more). By 2023, the share had more than tripled to 41 percent.

In the aggregate, this presents an encouraging picture of American capitalism and its promise of upward mobility. But it glosses over developments that have punished the life prospects of working-class (or not-wealthy) Americans. And that is where the story of decline told by the president rings true.

Listen to two of the most articulate supporters of President Trump’s trade and economic agenda: Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Free Press columnist Batya Ungar-Sargon.

Here is Ungar-Sargon in Newsweek: "And then there’s the cost of a middle-class life. While working-class wages are up, the hallmarks of a middle-class life—a home, adequate healthcare, an education, a retirement—have risen astronomically."

Yes, all that is true. Absolutely.

And here is Bessent at the Economic Club of New York in March: "If American families aren’t able to afford a home, don’t believe that their children will do better than they are [doing], the American dream is not contingent on cheap baubles from China, it is more than that."

Spot on.

What you don’t hear from Bessent or Ungar-Sargon is that these missing building blocks of prosperity—affordable housing, healthcare, and higher education—have nothing to do with trade or globalization. The three H’s are home-brewed, made-in-America, dysfunctional impediments to the American dream.

Over the past 40 years, home prices and healthcare costs have risen at around twice the rate of inflation, and higher education has become prohibitively expensive for most families.

The accumulated costs of the three H’s can’t be measured just in dollars and cents. They are dream killers, catalysts of disappointment and cynicism about the American project for someone who works hard and can never afford a house, faces bankruptcy over medical bills, or gets crushed by debt for an overpriced degree that is useless in the job market.

These daunting obstacles to economic well-being are homegrown and not a byproduct of globalization. They can’t be fixed with the MAGA recipe of trade wars and mass deportations. Progressives aren’t confronting this reality either and, in fact, decades of liberal policies and priorities—from mountains of regulations and permitting requirements that stifle homebuilding to legions of nanny-state administrators at universities—add to the bill for housing and higher ed.

The good news is this: Problems that are made in America can be fixed in America, too. In their book Abundance, the influential liberal writers Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson cite the damage done to the housing market by the rulemaking and regulatory obsessions of progressive lawyers and bureaucrats. They also offer practical ideas that encourage building rather than stifling it.

Healthcare costs continue to grow as America’s health-insurance colossus staggers on. It has proven immune to serious repair. But the best of the MAHA movement offers something else: a frontal attack on the garbage in the American diet—ultra-processed foods—that contribute to obesity and jack up the bill for the treatment of chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

Trust in higher education is plummeting as tuition and other expenses keep climbing. That opens alternatives, ranging from a no-frills revival of classical learning and capturing the teaching benefits of large language models (LLMs) to careers based on apprenticeships that bypass college and employers dropping degree requirements for a wide scope of jobs.

America has a remarkably dynamic and adaptable economy. We don’t need to whine about other countries supposedly screwing us over and treating us badly. A true America First agenda should start with squarely facing our homegrown failures.

The original solution was Levittown built for WW2 veterans who had GI Bill mortgages. The houses were, by later standards, bare bones: 750 sq ft (70 m2), with no basement or porch.

Now people want HGTV tricked out houses. Throw in fed-state-local requirements and zoning regulations and the price keeps getting higher.

The truth is that all those responsible don't really support 'affordable housing' beyond a talking point.

Is Birthright Citizenship a National Suicide Pact?
[Real Clear Wire] On the day of his second inauguration, President Donald Trump issued an executive order entitled "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship."

Sounds innocent enough, right? But this is the infamous order declaring that birthright citizenship does not extend to children of parents who are in the United States illegally or temporarily.

"Not so fast," said attorneys for illegal aliens and their children. "Our clients snuck across the border fair and square and they want the prize promised them by the Constitution — U.S. citizenship for all children born after they crossed the border."

But is that really what the Constitution says? Here are the words from the 14th Amendment:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

As President Trump noted in his executive order, the words "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" have always been used to exclude certain classes of people from birthright citizenship. That included, for instance, children of diplomats, who enjoy immunity in their host country. For several decades, it also included Native Americans of certain tribes that had entered into treaties that provided at least partial sovereignty. Those exclusions are not in the Constitution, but they are in the law. So why can’t there be an exclusion for illegal immigrants?

Trump’s executive order correctly recognizes that the higher purpose of the 14th Amendment was to guarantee citizenship for the children of former slaves, who had not only been subject to the jurisdiction of the American government, but even subject to sale. They had earned citizenship through hardship, pain, and suffering — not through an accident of birth. Obviously, the authors of the amendment recognized the high value of citizenship, and it seems unlikely they would just hand it out willy-nilly.

How the Muslim Brotherhood Is Capturing Europe
France didn’t plan to blow the whistle on the Muslim Brotherhood’s attempt to take over Europe. But that’s exactly what it did a couple of weeks ago, when a classified report from the Ministry of the Interior leaked to the newspaper Le Figaro.

The 73-page document, marked confidentiel-défense, was meant for top officials only.

Based on intelligence files, field investigations, and dozens of interviews, it lays out a stark diagnosis: The Muslim Brotherhood has built an extensive ideological infrastructure in France—not through violence, but through schools, charities, mosques, and soft power. It states: "The Brotherhood’s strategy is to install a form of ideological hegemony by infiltrating civil society under the guise of religious and educational activities."

The report is the most detailed government study to date of the Brotherhood’s presence in Europe. Written by two civil servants, it draws on months of fieldwork and analysis conducted in France and abroad, with input from diplomats, intelligence officials, academics, and religious figures. Its conclusion is blunt: The Brotherhood operates as a political project. Its goal is not sudden revolution, but gradual transformation. Its target is hearts and minds. Its strength lies not in secrecy, but in strategic ambiguity. And it is not coming just for France. It is coming for all of the West.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a transnational Islamist movement that seeks to impose Islamic law through gradual, ideological means—primarily via schools, charities, and religious networks. While it claims to reject violence, it has extremist offshoots such as Hamas, and its influence often blurs the line between nonviolence and radicalization.

Its ideological lineage runs deep. Founded in 1928 by Hassan al-Banna in Egypt, the movement has always presented Islam as a total system—religious, political, legal, economic. But it was in Europe that this vision was tactically refined. After being banned or repressed in the Arab world, many Brotherhood ideologues took refuge in Western democracies. In Switzerland, al-Banna’s son-in-law Saïd Ramadan set up the Islamic Center of Geneva in 1961, and later raised his two sons, Tariq and Hani Ramadan, both of whom became leading voices of Islamist thought in Europe.

In the decades since, the Brotherhood has methodically expanded its presence across the continent—embedding itself in local communities through a network of mosques, charities, educational institutions, and civic associations, all designed to promote its vision of political Islam under the cover of religious outreach.

The numbers in France alone are startling. The Brotherhood’s French network comprises 280 associations, including 139 officially affiliated mosques and 68 more considered "ideologically close"—together accounting for nearly 10 percent of the mosques opened since 2010. Every Friday, some 91,000 people attend worship in these spaces. The movement also controls or influences 21 private schools (three of them state-funded) and 815 Quranic schools, where over 66,000 minors are taught to see themselves as part of a global Muslim community in moral and cultural opposition to Western secularism.

What, exactly, do they teach at these institutions?

Well, Brotherhood-linked schools have distributed texts that praise Sharia law as superior to man-made law, denounce interfaith marriage, and vilify Jews.
Antisemitism is not incidental in Brotherhood-affiliated organizations—it is central. "Hatred of Jews," the report states unequivocally, is a core ideological element, often laundered through anti-Zionist slogans. In one mosque near Paris, a speaker recently declared "Je suis Hamas" ("I am Hamas") to a cheering audience. In others, anti-Israel rhetoric bleeds seamlessly into classic antisemitic tropes. Hassan Iquioussen, a prominent preacher linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and recently expelled from France, is cited for repeatedly spreading antisemitic conspiracy theories. He claimed that "the Jews control the media," and that they "manipulate historical memory to maintain their grip on global opinion."

Tulsa mayor unveils staggering $100M reparations plan for black descendants of 1921 massacre
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The first black mayor of Tulsa, Oklahoma has unveiled an ambitious reparations plan that would see more than $100 million invested in the descendants of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

Mayor Monroe Nichols announced on Sunday that the city is opening a $105 million charitable trust comprising private funds to address issues including housing, scholarships, land acquisition and economic development for north Tulsans.
Has the money already been donated, or is he building castles in the air?
Of that money, $24 million will go toward housing and home ownership for the descendants of the attack that killed as many as 300 black people and razed 35 blocks, according to Public Radio Tulsa.

Another $21 million will fund land acquisition, scholarship funding and economic development for the blighted north Tulsa community, and a whopping $60 million will go toward cultural preservation to improve buildings in the once prosperous Greenwood neighborhood.

'For 104 years, the Tulsa Race Massacre has been a stain on our city's history,' Nichols said at an event commemorating Race Massacre Observance Day.

No part of his plan would require city council approval, the mayor noted, and any fundraising would be conducted by an executive director whose salary will be paid for by private funding.
'The massacre was hidden from history books, only to be followed by the intentional acts of redlining, a highway built to choke off economic vitality and the perpetual underinvestment of local, state and federal governments.

'Now it's time to take the next big steps to restore.'

But the proposal will not include direct cash payments to the last known survivors, Leslie Benningfield Randle and Viola Fletcher, who are 110 and 111 years old.

They had been fighting for reparations for years, and earlier this year their attorney Damario Solomon-Simmons argued that any reparations plan should include direct payments to the two survivors as well as a victim's compensation fund for outstanding claims.

However, a lawsuit Solomon-Simmons - who also founded the group Justice for Greenwood - was struck down in 2023 by an Oklahoma judge who declared the claimants 'don't have unlimited rights to compensation.'

The ruling was then upheld by the Oklahoma Supreme Court last year, dampening racial justice advocates' hopes that the city would ever make financial amends.

But after taking office earlier this year, Nichols said he reviewed previous proposals from local community organizations like Justice for Greenwood.

He then discussed his plan with the Tulsa City Council and descendants of the massacre victims.

'What we wanted to do was find a way in which we could take in a number of these recommendations, so that it's reflective of the descendant community, of the folks that brought forth some recommendations,' Nichols said as he also vowed to continue to search for mass graves believed to contain victims of the massacre and release 45,000 previously classified city records.

No part of his plan would require city council approval, the mayor noted, and any fundraising would be conducted by an executive director whose salary will be paid for by private funding.

A Board of Trustees would also determine how to distribute the funds.

Still, the city council would have to authorize the transfer of any city property to the trust, something the mayor said was highly likely.

The violence in 1921 erupted after a white woman told police that a black man had grabbed her arm in an elevator in a downtown Tulsa commercial building on May 30, 1921.

The following day, police arrested the man, who the Tulsa Tribune reported had tried to assault the woman. White people surrounded the courthouse, demanding the man be handed over.

World War One veterans were among black men who went to the courthouse to face the mob. A white man tried to disarm a black veteran and a shot rang out, touching off further violence.

White people then looted and burned buildings and dragged the black people from their beds and beat them, according to historical accounts.

The white people were deputized by authorities and instructed to shoot the black residents.

No one was ever charged in the violence, which the federal government now classifies as a 'coordinated military-style attack' by white citizens, and not the work of an unruly mob.

Of all the demands for reparations that come and go, this one is the one that makes some kind of impression with me, and one that makes some amount of sense. It appears that the money has been already rounded up; and that it's going to real matters that it can actually help. It doesn't seem like anywhere enough to do the things they want to do, but maybe things are less expensive there. Let's see what happens.

My concern is that this is the camel's nose in the tent.

The Defense Department (DOD) is starting a voluntary program for its civilian employees to go to the southern border to support Department of Homeland Security (DHS) efforts there.

The agency released a memo Monday authorizing its civilian employees to volunteer to travel and support border operations.

"Protecting our homeland from bad actors and illegal substances has been a focus of the President and of the Secretary of Defense since Day One of this Administration," said Sean Parnell, chief Pentagon spokesperson. "Whether on the border or in our communities, allowing qualified DoD civilian employees to support DHS will accelerate the progress already made by Service members in achieving our national security goals."

This voluntary program was at the request of DHS, a U.S. official told Fox News.

It was not clear how many DOD civilian employees are expected to volunteer or what kind of work they will do. Fox News Digital has reached out to the DOD and DHS.

The memo, authored by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, reads, "Detail assignments may be either reimbursable or non-reimbursable.

"Non-reimbursable details are authorized where the expected benefit of a detail would be comparable to training or development programs that otherwise would be conducted at a DoD Component's expense."

News of the voluntary program comes as the Trump administration continues to crack down on illegal immigration and target criminal illegal immigrants for deportation.

#6  I can’t speak to the computer/internet side of things, Abu Uluque, but while I am definitely not having a first thing in the morning access issue, there is from time to time during the day a moment where it takes more than one try to open the Burg using my backstage, moderator access. Sometimes something about POSTGRES (?), sometimes 404 something… I’ve been assuming that’s the result of either the site backing itself up or heavier than usual attacks from outside. Fred and badanov have long taken hardening this place very seriously indeed, and of course the Burg has long garnered attention from interesting parties, some of whom definitely have not appreciated our balanced approach to certain world activities… not to mention decidedly unbalanced approach to other ones. ;-)

I’m sure you understand far better than I the meaning of what I wrote. It’s all a black box to me.

The statement added that the air force hit dozens of targets, including cells of terror operatives, buildings used by terror groups, tunnels, weapons depots, and other infrastructure.

The announcement came after IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir instructed the army on Sunday to begin operating in new areas in Gaza. The military has said it seeks to seize 75% of the Strip in the renewed offensive launched last month.

Paleostinian media reported overnight that Israeli ground forces were approaching southern Gaza’s Khan Younis. IDF troops were said to demolish the rear wall of the city’s European Hospital after advancing toward the hospital over the past day. The military, in response to a query by The Times of Israel, denied that troops were operating within the European Hospital compound.

targeted a Hamas tunnel system that ran underneath the hospital, killing the terror group’s leader in Gaza, Muhammad Sinwar, and two other senior commanders in its military wing. The IDF confirmed Saturday that Sinwar was killed in the strike, which killed at least 28 people, according to Hamas’s civil defense agency. Hamas’s figures cannot be independently verified and do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.

Sinwar had taken over from his slain brother Yahya, who criminal masterminded the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023, which killed some 1,200 people in southern Israel and saw 251 taken hostage, sparking the war in Gaza. Israel killed Yahya Sinwar in October 2024.

Israel has accused Hamas of using Gaza’s civilians as human shields and of embedding itself in civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, schools and mosques. The IDF says it takes steps to mitigate civilian harm, including by use of evacuation warnings, precision munitions, aerial surveillance, and other intelligence.

On Monday afternoon, the military carried out a strike against what it said was a Hamas command center embedded within a school sheltering displaced Paleostinians in central Gaza’s Deir al-Balah. The IDF said that the command center was being used by Hamas operatives to plan and carry out attacks against troops and Israeli civilians.

According to Paleostinian media, at least four people were killed in the strike on the al-Aishiya school.

WAFA, the Paleostinian Authority’s official news agency, reported another person killed in an Israeli dronezap in Khan Younis, and five others killed in a fighter jet strike on a family home in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, in the Strip’s north.

The Hamas civil defense agency said an Israeli strike on a family home in the northern town of Jabalia killed 14 people, including six children and three women. A front man for the agency said the strike hit a family home and there were "more than 20 missing individuals still under the rubble."

The IDF confirmed to the Times of Israel that it had carried out strikes in Jabalia, but declined to provide further details on the targets.

The military had last week instructed the entire Jabalia area, as well as other towns in the Strip’s north and several Gaza City neighborhoods, to evacuate westward.

Another strike early Monday hit a mosque in Deir al-Balah. The military told The Times of Israel that it had targeted terror infrastructure in the area, and that it had warned civilians to evacuate the site ahead of the airstrikes.

AID GROUP DENIES KILLINGS NEAR DISTRIBUTION SITE
Hamas’s media office said IDF gunfire early Monday killed three people and maimed 35 near an aid distribution site operated by the US-based Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which Washington and Jerusalem have promoted as a way to circumvent Hamas in the distribution of aid.

The tolls could not immediately be verified. GHF said the distribution went on without incident, with "21 truckloads of food... totaling 18,720 boxes" handed out during the site’s opening hours, from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

The IDF said it was aware of the reports of casualties and was investigating the incident. According to the military, troops had opened fire on Paleostinian "suspects who approached forces" overnight, around a kilometer (0.6 miles) away from the distribution site, hours before it was set to open to hand out food to Gazooks.

The GHF has warned Paleostinians in its announcements that the aid sites open no earlier than 5 a.m., and that approaching the area beforehand could be dangerous due to Israeli military activity.

The IDF said it was letting GHF operate "independently to distribute aid to Gaza residents and prevent it from reaching the Hamas terror organization." The military also accused Hamas of doing "everything it can to prevent the success" of the new aid distribution system, which commenced operations last week.

"Hamas is a brutal terror organization that starves the population and puts it in danger to preserve its rule in the Gaza Strip," the army said.

GHF has accused Hamas of fabricating previous accounts of chaos and gunfire around distribution sites, which are located in Israeli military zones.

"Despite several inaccurate and, in some cases, blatantly false news reports, there have been no injuries nor fatalities during the first full week of GHF operations," the agency said Monday morning.

Over the past week, the agency said, it has distributed 5.8 million meals at three distribution sites in southern and central Gaza. But GHF’s classification of meals is based on boxes of dry food products that still require cooking equipment or community kitchens, which are very limited throughout the Strip after nearly 20 months of devastating conflict.

The IDF has acknowledged firing warning shots on previous occasions outside the distribution centers, including on Sunday, when troops fired at Paleostinians about a kilometer away from an aid site, hours before it was set to open.

The early Sunday gunfire killed 31 people, according to Hamas health authorities and eyewitnesses, though GHF denied the reports and released some 15 minutes of footage that purported to show the distribution had proceeded without incident. The military said troops "did not fire at civilians while they were near or within the humanitarian aid distribution site."

IDF issues evacuation order for new areas of Gaza’s Khan Younis

The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson, Col. Avichay Adraee, posts a map on X showing several blocks in western Khan Younis that are to be evacuated. The neighborhood was not included in the IDF’s previous warnings for Khan Younis.

Civilians are called to head westward toward the Maswasi area on the coast.

“The IDF will operate with great force in the areas where you are present,” Adraee warns.

Biden Admin accused of covering up 'cancer clusters' after major 2023 health emergency [Palestine OH]
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] The Biden administration has been accused of covering up the devastating reality of a potential Ohio cancer cluster.

A new whistleblower report shows Biden and authorities like the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ignored and failed to publish health data after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, in February 2023.

The Government Accountability Project has obtained federal emails and documents alleging the government knew there would be 'inevitable health impacts' from the incident.

They also claim the Biden administration knew residents would need health checkups for at least 20 years after the spill — but failed to disclose that to the public.

The chemicals released during the disaster, many of which are known carcinogens, spilled into the soil of the 5,000-person town and the nearby Ohio River.

They also spread through the air in massive 'really toxic' smoke plumes,' which could increase the risk of 'cancer clusters' forming, according to the head of the watchdog group.

Two years later, East Palestine residents are still exposed to a dozen chemicals linked to respiratory issues, fatigue, high blood pressure, leukemia and kidney, lung, liver and brain cancer.

And a recent paper found 540,000 square miles, spanning 16 states, were exposed to traces of volatile chemicals during the disaster.

Lesley Pacey, an investigator with the Government Accountability Project, told NewsNation: 'They knew that there would be the potential for cancer clusters.

'These documents confirm what East Palestine residents have feared: government officials knew about the serious health risks posed by the derailment and controlled burn but deliberately kept this information from the community.'

Pacey obtained FEMA documents and emails between the agency and the White House, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Justice and the National Security council, which showed the people of East Palestine are still prone to devastating health consequences.

According to Pacey, the emails noted 'the occurrence of a cancer-cluster in [East Palestine] is not zero' and urged efforts 'to identify cancer clusters.'

The Government Accountability Project's report also revealed the Biden administration allegedly thought East Palestine residents would need at least 20 years of medical checks following the incident.

The Project also determined the findings 'point to inevitable health impacts.'

Over a dozen chemicals were in the rail cars, including several carcinogens.

Vinyl chloride, for example, travels through the blood and gets broken down by the liver into even more toxic chemicals.

When breathed in over many years, it can cause liver and nerve damage and leave people with a weakened immune system.

Exposure to the gas is also associated with a heightened risk of a rare form of liver cancer (hepatic angiosarcoma), as well as primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma), brain and lung cancers, lymphoma and leukemia.

When burned, vinyl chloride creates hydrogen chloride and phosgene — a highly toxic, colorless gas with a strong odor that can cause vomiting and breathing trouble and was used as a chemical weapon in World War I.

Trichloroethylene, meanwhile, is a clear liquid used as a solvent in for rubbers, fats, oils, waxes and resins.

It's also a known carcinogen that has been linked to kidney and liver cancer, as well as non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

And colorless liquid butyl acrylate has been linked to irritation in the eyes, including redness and tearing up, a scratchy throat, issues with breathing and redness and cracking of the skin.

Continued exposure over months and years can cause the skin to itch and affected areas to ooze.

Sil Caggiano, a hazardous materials specialist and former fire department chief, told WKBN 27 First News in 2023: 'We basically nuked a town with chemicals so we could get a railroad open.'

A senior Iranian diplomat said Monday that Tehran would reject the US proposal, saying that it fails to address Tehran’s interests or soften Washington’s stance on uranium enrichment.

''Region-by-region'' plan may be adopted for Hezbollah disarmament
[NAHARNET] A ''region-by-region'' plan for Hezbollah's disarmament may be proposed when ''serious dialogue'' kicks off between President Joseph Aoun and Hezbollah, a media report said on Monday.

Under such a plan, weapons would be handed over ''according to regional order and importance,'' the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper said.

The priority would be for the South Litani area, where Israel has nearly destroyed all of Hezbollah's arms depots and military bases and where the Lebanese Army has 80% cleared the area, the report added.

Over 30 Soldiers Killed As al-Qaeda-Linked Group Invades Army Base In Mali

An al-Qaeda linked group has grabbed credit for an attack in the Malian town of Boulikessi that killed over 30 soldiers on Sunday and led to the seizure of an army base.

Jama'a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Moslemin (JNIM) said its fighters overran the military camp in a coordinated assault.

Sources quoted by Rooters reported that more than 30 soldiers were killed, though the Malian authorities have not yet confirmed the casualty figure.

In a statement reacting to the attack, the Malian army said it "reacted vigorously" before it "withdrew", suggesting a tactical retreat.

"Many men fought, some until their last breath, to defend the Malian nation," the army added.

A local source told Rooters that JNIM "cleared the camp" and left many casualties. Unverified videos seen by the agency showed dozens of bully boyz invading the base, with one clip reportedly showing fighters stepping on corpses.

On Monday, JNIM said it launched another offensive in the historic city of Timbuktu, targeting a military airport and Russian mercenaries. Residents reported hearing gunfire and explosions as the assault unfolded.

Military and security sources told AFP that they were "fighting back" but admitted the bully boyz were "everywhere in the city". A local official said the attackers arrived "with a vehicle packed with explosives" that detonated near the army camp.

Remittances sent to Mexico slumped 12.1% in April compared to a year earlier, according to central bank data published on Monday, marking the steepest drop in over a decade...
[ConservativeTreehouse] A few datapoints to keep on a post-it note as things progress; starting with a rather significant new release that I think you will find interesting.

Approximately 12.3 million Mexicans live abroad, both legally and illegally, with 97% of them living and working in the United States, according to BBVA Research. Last year Mexicans living abroad sent $64.75 billion back home in remittances, largely from Texas and California to states in central and western Mexico.

According to data just released, in April of this year remittances back to Mexico dropped 12.1%. The Mexico central bank said April saw 8.1% fewer transactions than a year earlier, that’s down to 12.4 million transactions. For Mexico this could be a devastating trend. [Sidenote: Remember, Trump is likely planning a complete overhaul of the USMCA later this year.]

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -Remittances sent to Mexico slumped 12.1% in April compared to a year earlier, according to central bank data published on Monday, marking the steepest drop in over a decade as U.S. lawmakers mull a tax on such payments sent abroad.

The world’s second-largest recipient of remittances, Mexico receives these payments chiefly from migrants working in the neighboring United States. In April, Mexicans abroad sent fewer transactions and smaller payments, totaling $4.76 billion.

Analysts said the slump likely resulted from a broad crackdown on migration in the U.S. since President Donald Trump came to power in January, as authorities revoke some Biden-era protections and increase raids across the country.

The latest data marks the steepest year-on-year drop since September 2012, according to central bank data.

Banco Base economic analysis director Gabriela Siller said April’s drop was likely due to a weaker U.S. job market and migrants’ fear of losing their jobs or being deported.

“The April remittance data is terrible,” she said in a post on X, attributing the drop to “the deterioration of the labor market in the U.S. and U.S. migrants’ fear of going out to work and sending their remittances, for fear of being deported.” (read more)

The Mexican domestic economy benefits from these remittances as the money flow from the United States directly fuels family purchases and the economy within Mexico. If significantly less money is flowing to Mexico due to voluntary exit and deportation, the Mexico domestic economy contracts.

Now, a few things to consider.

♦ First, a question I have often asked myself. What happens to U.S. economic data, statistically recorded based on identifiable datapoints, if the unquantifiable underground economy is forcibly reduced? If black market (cash) wages are removed, and that creates structural employment pressure leading to traditional (non-cash) wage increases, will the BEA/BLS wage increase -or income data- seem skewed?

Perhaps, just perhaps, we are seeing the answer. Last month, again recording for April, the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported that Personal income increased $210.1 billion (0.8 percent at a monthly rate). That’s a 9.6% annualized rate of potential wage increases. That is stunningly good.

♦ Second, Florida is now reporting the biggest decline in home prices in a decade. As reported in the New York Post, “the median price for all home types in Florida fell 1.7% in March from the same time last year, according to Redfin, a national real estate brokerage. That’s a small number with big implications.” … “Median prices for condos and co-ops fell about 7% in March.” In addition, available housing inventory is reaching record highs.

As the Hurricane season gets underway, right now in June 2025 things look a lot like June 2005. Florida was where the financial atom split in the housing crisis of ’07/08. The Florida housing values climaxed in December of 2005, then collapsed stunningly fast. However, the shockwave took until 2007 to reach nationwide impact. At least in the Florida housing market data, June 2025 looks an awful lot like June 2005.

There are a lot of factors influencing the Florida housing market, including declining in-migration, ridiculous insurance costs, high mortgage rates, high prices and now increases in unsold available inventory. However, when you overlay the potential slowdown in construction with a decline in available workers (repatriation), you get a slower overall economy to absorb that growing housing inventory.

Back to the main subject. If remittances to Mexico continue to shrink due to repatriation (voluntary and forced), the economy of Mexico could be squeezed significantly. This creates even more pressure on Mexico, and simultaneously more leverage for President Trump in a USMCA renegotiation.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed on Monday that Soliman, a resident of El Paso, was arrested and was the main suspect behind the Colorado attack. He has since been charged with a federal hate crime.

During an interview with police, Soliman admitted to watching YouTube videos on how to make Molotov Cocktails and purchased the materials to make them, according to federal court documents. He also stated that he wanted to kill all Zionists, wished all Zionists dead and said he would repeat the attack if given the opportunity.

Soliman told officials that he had been planning the attack for a year but wanted to wait for his daughter to graduate from university before carrying it out.

On Sunday afternoon, a man threw Molotov cocktails and used an improvised flamethrower to target participants of a weekly walking group that raises awareness for the hostages in Hamas captivity. Officials currently believe it was a lone-wolf attack.

Soliman, who was heard screaming "Free Paleostine" and "end Zionism" before launching the attack at a group raising awareness of the plight of the 58 hostages held captive by Hamas, was booked into Boulder County Jail on multiple charges. These include first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault, one count of causing serious injury to an at-risk adult or someone over 70, and one count of using explosives or incendiary devices.

He is currently being held on a $10 million bond.

Before being taken to jail, the FBI confirmed he was taken for medical assessments at a nearby hospital.

"Our strength as a society comes from our shared values, and our commitment to protecting one another. Any attempt to divide us through fear or harm has no place in Boulder, Colorado, or anywhere in our nation," said FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek. "We stand in full solidarity with those targeted. And we will continue to ensure that justice is pursued swiftly, support is provided to victims and their communities, and preventative action is taken to protect everyone’s safety."

Originally from Egypt, Soliman arrived in the United States in 2022 with a non-immigration visa that would have allowed him to stay until February 2023, according to the Homeland Security Department.

He was later granted work authorization in March 2023, which should have allowed him to stay in the US only until March 2025.

Assistant Secretary of DHS Tricia McLaughlin said Soliman had tried to claim asylum in 2022.

The suspect who allegedly attacked a group of pro-hostage demonstrators in Colorado planned the attack for a year and wanted to kill “all Zionist people,” according to an affidavit filed in a federal court in Colorado on Monday.

The suspect, Mohammed Sabry Soliman, 45, is charged with attacking the rally on Sunday with a homemade flamethrower and Molotov cocktails, wounding eight. He was arrested at the scene of the attack.

The affidavit, filed by an FBI agent in the US District Court of Colorado, was based on Soliman’s interview with law enforcement after the arrest.

After he was arrested, a black plastic container with a yellow lid was found nearby. Inside were at least fourteen unlit Molotov cocktails made of glass wine bottles or Ball jars with gasoline inside and red rags hanging out of the top.

Also nearby was a “backpack weed sprayer” loaded with gasoline. Authorities have said Soliman used a “makeshift flamethrower” during the attack.

Law enforcement found a silver Toyota Prius parked a few blocks away that was registered to Soliman. Inside were a red gas container and papers with the words “Israel,” “Palestine,” and “USAID,” the affidavit said.

Soliman told law enforcement he researched how to make Molotov cocktails on YouTube. He assembled the firebombs and bought gas at a gas station on his way to Boulder. He lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, about two hours away, with his wife and five children.

He targeted the hostage rally after learning about the group in an online search and saw that the group was planning to meet at 1 p.m. He arrived at the scene at 12:55 p.m. and waited for the demonstrators.

“Soliman stated that he hated the Zionist group and did this because he hated this group and needed to stop them from taking over ‘our land,’ which he explained to be Palestine,” the affidavit said. “He stated that he had been planning the attack for a year and was waiting until after his daughter graduated to conduct the attack.”

Soliman said he left an iPhone with messages to his family hidden in a desk drawer at his home. His wife turned an iPhone over to police.

The affidavit confirmed that Soliman is the individual seen in video from the scene of the attack. Video also showed him shouting, “End Zionists.”

The police department in Boulder, Colorado, said on Monday morning that none of the victims had perished, despite the suspect being held on a preliminary charge of murder.

“No victims have died,” the police department said in a statement.

The police department said it would hold a press conference on the attack later Monday and that more details would be forthcoming.

Police released a mugshot of the suspect, who had a bandaged ear and bruising on his face.

Soliman was set to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. local time, the police department’s daily booking report said. He was being held in the Boulder County Jail on a $10 million bond.

Other preliminary charges against Soliman included using explosive or incendiary devices during a felony, assault with a weapon, and crimes against at-risk elderly. The victims were four men and four women between the ages of 52 and 88. One of the victims was reportedly a Holocaust survivor.

[IsraelTimes] Mohammed Sabry Soliman, the suspect in a firebombing of a hostages march in Colorado yesterday, will be charged with state and federal charges and facing life in prison if convicted, officials say.

Acting US Attorney J. Bishop Grewell says at a press conference that Soliman, 45, is being charged with the commission of a hate crime, a federal crime which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison when coupled with attempted murder charges he will face from Colorado.

According to Grewell, Soliman attempted to buy a firearm to carry out the attack, but resorted to homemade incendiary devices when he could not acquire a firearm because he is not a US citizen.
So it could have been much, much worse. Thank goodness he wasn’t clever enough or charming enough to get a friend to buy guns for him.
Boulder county district attorney Michael Dougherty says the state will charge Soliman with 16 counts of attempted murder in the first degree — eight for attempted murder with intent, and eight for attempted murder with extreme indifference. If convicted, and the sentences run consecutively, the maximum sentence is 384 years in state prison.

Soliman will also be charged with two counts of use of an incendiary device, carrying a maximum sentence of 48 years, and 16 counts of attempted use of an incendiary device, with a maximum sentence of 192 years. Soliman threw two Molotov cocktails at the demonstrators, and investigators recovered 16 unused Molotov cocktails from the scene of the attack.

Other charges may be forthcoming, Grewell says.

Dougherty says police have identified four more victims of the attack, bringing the total to 12. The four additional victims suffered minor injuries and came forward to investigators after the initial incident.

The authorities say Soliman was not “on our radar” before the attack. Investigators are working to put together a timeline of the attack using surveillance footage and license plate readers.
Authorities said in the news conference June 2 they believe he acted alone.

The arrest affidavit said he has a valid Colorado driver's license and no prior criminal history.

Soliman, a father of five, entered the U.S. in August 2022 on a B-2 tourist visa that expired over two years ago, said Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. An affidavit said he was born in Egypt and lived in Kuwait for 17 years before moving to Colorado three years ago.

In his Toyota Prius parked nearby, investigators discovered red rags, a jug of gasoline and paperwork with the words "Israel," "Palestine" and "USAID," according to the charging document.

He told investigators that after being denied the legal purchase of a gun due to not being a citizen, he researched on YouTube how to make Molotov Cocktails, purchased the ingredients to do so and constructed them himself, the affidavit said.

McLaughlin said Soliman applied for asylum in September 2022. That claim was likely still pending. As of March, the immigration court backlog was around 3.6 million cases, according to the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller on X described Soliman as an "illegal alien" and criticized the Biden administration, which he accused of approving a work permit for Soliman after he overstayed his tourist visa.

Uber on June 2 confirmed that Soliman had worked as a driver starting in spring 2023 although the company did not specify whether he worked driving passengers or for Uber Eats, or both. In a statement to USA TODAY, the company said his account has been terminated, prohibiting him from working there again. The company noted that he passed a background check and provided the legally required documents necessary to work as a contractor.“Mr. Soliman had no concerning feedback while driving on the Uber platform,” the company said in a statement. “We’ve banned the driver’s account and have been in touch with law enforcement.”
Only one thing held Soliman back from attacking sooner, he told authorities: Waiting for his daughter to graduate high school.

A Colorado Springs Gazette article published in April profiled a student matching his daughter’s description as a recipient of a scholarship. According to the article, she described in her scholarship application how her family had immigrated to the US after living in Kuwait, noting that her father had undergone a “difficult surgery” when she was young “that restored his ability to walk.”

The girl said the incident inspired her to pursue medical school – a dream that would have been impossible in Kuwait but within reach in America.

Soliman was born in Egypt and lived in Kuwait for 17 years before moving to Colorado, according to a state arrest affidavit.

CNN reviewed a Facebook account matching his name and date of birth. On the account’s page, which was last updated about 10 years ago, Soliman said he attended high school and college in Egypt and later moved to Kuwait, where he had an accounting job, according to the page. That account featured photos of Mohamed Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood leader who served as Egypt’s president from 2012 to 2013, when he was ousted in a military coup that triggered mass protests and sit-ins in Cairo.

Posts on the Facebook page expressed support for the Muslim Brotherhood protests against the removal of Morsi. One post from August 2013 featured a four-finger salute with a yellow background, a symbol supportive of the Rabaa al-Adawiya Square encampment, which was violently dispersed by Egyptian security forces loyal to Egypt’s then-defense minister and current president, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

According to the newspaper article on the student whose identifying details match those of Soliman’s daughter, her father at one point underwent a serious medical procedure on his legs – one she described in her scholarship application as “nothing short of ‘magic.’”

When the family lived in Kuwait, the daughter stated, the success of the procedure inspired her to study medicine – but “the prospect of attending medical school there was not an option” as a non-Kuwaiti. “The move to the United States provides a chance to fulfill her dream,” the article said.

“Coming to the USA has fundamentally changed me,” she wrote. “Most importantly, I came to appreciate that family is the unchanging support.”

As he began plotting an attack, Soliman told authorities, he researched how to make Molotov cocktails on YouTube. He also learned online about the group that eventually became his target – a weekly demonstration in Boulder urging Hamas to return the remaining hostages from Gaza.

Soliman said he took a concealed-carry class and learned to shoot a gun but as a non-citizen was blocked from purchasing a gun, so he turned to Molotov cocktails, according to a state affidavit.

Soliman told authorities that he purchased ingredients for the cocktails – including “glass wine carafe bottles or Ball jars,” according to the federal complaint – constructed them and purchased gas at a gas station on the way to Boulder. He also filled up a backpack weed sprayer with gasoline.

Before leaving for the attack, Soliman said, he left an iPhone hidden in a desk drawer at home with messages for his family as well as a journal.

As the group marched with signs on Sunday, Soliman waited nearby with a utility vest over his shirt; some witnesses thought he looked like a gardener, multiple law enforcement sources said. The state affidavit notes that he bought flowers from Home Depot.

He "said this had nothing to do with the Jewish community and was specific in the Zionist group supporting the killings of people on his land (Palestine)," the state documents said.
To be fair, he wasn’t to know that the people he was trying to murder are older and elderly Jews, including a Holocaust survivor.
Soliman, a husband and father of five, allegedly said he had been planning Sunday afternoon's attack for one year but waited until his daughter graduated from high school last Thursday to carry it out, state and federal documents said.

He said no one knew about his plans and he expected to die during the attack, the documents said.
And now he gets to die in an American prison, pondering the life path that took him there.
Soliman appeared at his first state court hearing virtually from jail on Monday afternoon, during which the judge kept his bond at $10 million.

He acknowledged that he had received and understood a protection order barring him from contacting the victims.

Soliman is due back in court on Thursday for the filing of state charges.

He said he drove about 100 miles from his Colorado Springs home to Boulder on Sunday and picked up gas at a gas station on the way, the documents said.

Soliman allegedly "filled 8 glass containers he purchased from Target with gas, he put them in a black storage bin and in order to get as close as possible to the group he dressed himself like a gardener," according to state court documents.

He allegedly used a "makeshift flamethrower" and threw an incendiary device into a crowd of pro-Israel demonstrators at a pedestrian mall, according to the FBI.

A video posted on social media during the attack showed Soliman holding what appeared to be Molotov cocktails and saying, "How many children killed" and "end Zionist," according to the court documents.

Soliman said he "only threw two at the group because he got scared," according to court documents.

[Rudaw] Turkey’s energy minister said on Saturday that the Gabar oil field in the southeastern Kurdish-majority province of Sirnak generates $2 billion annually and has created more than 3,200 jobs in the province.

“Two billion dollars annually is obtained from that (Gabar field). We hope that with increased production, revenue will increase. Under this project, we have now provided job opportunities for 3,200 people in Sirnak and Gabar,” Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said during a meeting of Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

In December 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of the oil field on Sirnak’s Mount Gabar, containing an estimated 150 million barrels valued at approximately $12 billion.

Sirnak is a small province in southeastern Turkey, bordering the Kurdistan Region.

“Over the past 22 years, the money we spent on energy imports was one trillion dollars. The story of our energy independence is actually a story identical to the story of our economic independence,” Bayraktar added.

The oil field produces 80,000 barrels per day, according to Bayraktar.

Last month, Erdogan said that the Gabar field had produced nearly $2 billion worth of oil in total, over a combined 26 million barrels.

Turkey is struggling with crippling economic woes, its currency is losing value and people are facing soaring inflation and a cost of living crisis.

In March 2023, former Sirnak mayor Mehmet Yarka said that the city's booming economy due to the Gabar field had kickstarted a reverse migration from the bigger cities back to Sirnak.

“Sirnak has grown and developed a lot. People build homes and invest, and those who left the city due to issues, are now returning from Adana, Ankara, Mersin, and Istanbul,” Yarka said at the time.

Sirnak province has one of Turkey’s highest unemployment rates.
