Senior French official downplays planned UN conference’s focus on Palestinian state
[IsraelTimes] The United Nations conference to be hosted by France and Saudi Arabia later this month is aimed at achieving “a ceasefire enabling the release of all hostages, the disarmament of Hamas and setting a stage in the Gaza Strip for the day after,” says a senior French official who is currently in Israel to meet with Israeli counterparts.

“And for that to happen, we agree that we need additional pressure on Hamas,” says the official.
Enlightenment dawns. But how, pray tell, do you imagine to achieve that?
French recognition of a Palestinian state, a move under serious consideration by French President Emmanuel Macron, is “a matter that will be dealt with separately from the outcome of the June conference,” says a second official.

However, the overarching goal is to rally support for a two-state solution, alongside regional integration of Israel.
No Palestinian state in this generation, possibly never. Absolutely never for one involving Hamas.
“What we are aiming to do is to create a political framework in which the two-state solution is a central piece,” says the senior visiting official, adding that the outcome of the conference will not be a UN resolution, but will be instead a vision document that UN member states can sign on to.
No. And anyway, how is it any of your business?
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has dismissed France’s potential upcoming recognition of a Palestinian state, calling the move “revolting” while Israel fights Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“What we are trying to do is contribute to relaunch a positive and lasting political dynamic to ensure peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians,” says the senior French official. “We are not overpassing the US. We are engaging with the US ahead of the conference.”
Not when the US government considers your position to be vicious nonsense at best.
Nor is France trying to exclude Israel, says the senior official.
Yes, France is. France is trying to undermine Israel in favour of whichever Palestinians are in play at the moment, to curry favour with the Moslem mob rioting through your streets.
Israel’s criticism has grown increasingly strident of late, with the Foreign Ministry accusing Macron of a “crusade” against the Jewish state.

“We are having a discussion with Israel on the content of this vision.
You are telling Israel what she must do; Israel is saying, “Hell, no!”
The purpose of our visit is to try and comprehend what is Israel’s vision for the day after and for the future.”
A Gaza free of the presence of any who support Hamas, et al, local rule by the tribes, perhaps, with an active IDF presence throughout thr Strip and especially at the Egyptian border.

Parents of Sbarro bombing victim urge US to demand extradition of Hamas terrorist behind attack
[IsraelTimes] Frimet and Arnold Roth, the parents of Malki Roth, an American citizen killed at age 15 in the 2001 Sbarro Pizzeria bombing in Jerusalem, met last month with US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee to deliver a petition urging the extradition of the attack’s orchestrator, Hamas
..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,...
terrorist Ahlam Tamimi, from Jordan, according to a statement shared by the parents today.

"This is a matter of justice for the families of murdered Americans," Arnold told Huckabee during a May 13 meeting at the US Embassy in Jerusalem, according to the family’s statement.

The Roths presented Huckabee with a petition bearing 30,000 signatures and demanding that Washington press Jordan to extradite Tamimi, who was convicted in an Israeli court for playing a central role in the suicide kaboom that killed 16 people, including seven children and a pregnant woman, and injured 130 more. Temimi later found shelter in Jordan after being released from prison in the 2011 deal in which Israel freed 1,027 forces of Evil in exchange for captured IDF soldier Gilad Shalit.

"What brought us to the embassy was remembrance, but also justice," Arnold continued. "Justice in the Tamimi prosecution has been thwarted for years and barely mentioned publicly by the very US officials who bear the responsibility of bringing the runaway to trial. We came to implore the government represented by Ambassador Huckabee to carry out its duty to protect and stand for American victims of terrorism abroad."

The petition was submitted for delivery to US President Donald Trump
...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried....
, US Attorney General Pam Bondi, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio
...The diminutive 13-year-old Republican U.S. Senator from Florida, Secretary of State in the second Trump administration...
, the statement adds, and urges Jordan to honor its 1995 extradition treaty with the US. Despite the treaty, Jordan’s high court blocked Tamimi’s extradition in 2017, reportedly claiming the agreement was never ratified, a contention disputed by Washington.

The Roths also presented Huckabee with a photo of Malki’s shattered phone, recovered from the attack site, on which she had written a Hebrew message about the Jewish prohibition against speaking ill of others. "This phone is one of the few physical traces we have left of Malki," he said.

Shortly before King Abdullah II’s February meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, Arab media reported that Jordanian intelligence had warned Hamas Tamimi might be handed over unless another country agreed to take her in. No official sources confirmed the reports.

Since her release, Tamimi has lived openly in Jordan, where she holds citizenship, and has publicly glorified the bombing. In a 2017 News Agency that Dare Not be Named interview, she stated that Paleostinians have the right to resist Israel "by any means," including deadly attacks.

"Tamimi has never shown the smallest degree of remorse. The massacre she spearheaded made her a celebrity in Jordan and beyond...It is unconscionable that Jordan, a lavishly funded beneficiary of US tax-payer-funded aid, has enabled her to be glorified as an icon while her victims’ families — including American families — are ignored," Arnold said in the meeting.

Germany sentences pro-Assad Syrian fighter to life for crimes against humanity
[IsraelTimes] Stuttgart court convicts former militiaman of ‘terrorizing’ local Sunnis in support of now-ousted strongman in 2011, after trial involving testimony from 30 witnesses

A German court on Tuesday convicted a Syrian man of crimes against humanity and placed in durance vile
Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'!
him for life over offenses committed during his time fighting for former Syrian president Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Horror of Homs...
The court in the city of Stuttgart found the former militiaman guilty of crimes including murder and torture after a trial that involved testimony from 30 witnesses.

His name was not provided.

Shortly after the outbreak of anti-Assad protests in early 2011 — which sparked the deadly 14-year civil war — the man joined a pro-government Shia militia in the southern town of Bosra al-Sham.

He proceeded to take part in several crimes against the local Sunni population with the aim of "terrorizing" them and driving them from the town, the court found.

German authorities have pursued several suspects for crimes committed in Syria’s civil war under the principle of universal jurisdiction, even after Assad’s ouster last December by Islamist-led rebels, led by now-interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

In 2022, former Syrian colonel Anwar Raslan was found guilty of overseeing the murders of 27 people and the torture of 4,000 others at the notorious al-Khatib jail in 2011 and 2012.

That was the first international trial over state-sponsored torture in Syrian prisons and was hailed as "historic" by human rights

Iran’s Khamenei rejects US nuclear deal proposal, vows to keep enriching uranium
Release the IAF!!
[IsraelTimes] Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei says a US proposal for a nuclear deal is against Tehran’s national interests, and that the country will not give up uranium enrichment.

The issue of uranium enrichment has been a sticking point in negotiations between the US and Iran. Uranium enrichment remained key to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, Khamenei says in a speech.

“Independence means not waiting for the green light from America and the likes of America,” Khamenei says, adding that the proposal is “100 percent against” the ideals of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Tehran says it wants to master nuclear technology for peaceful purposes and has denied longstanding accusations by Western powers that it is seeking to develop nuclear weapons.

Iran said open to nuclear deal with consortium located in Iran

[IsraelTimes] Iran is open to basing a nuclear agreement with the United States around the idea of a regional uranium enrichment consortium based in Iran, Axios reports, citing a senior Iranian official.

Israel says 157 trucks of humanitarian aid entered Gaza yesterday
[IsraelTimes] The Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announces that 157 humanitarian aid trucks carrying flour and food entered the Gaza Strip yesterday.

Israel resumed aid deliveries to Gaza on May 19, after a pause since March 2.

Some of the truckloads have been taken to the new aid distribution sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. Those sites are closed today in order to give time for the US- and Israeli-backed organization to carry out logistical work needed to safely accommodate larger crowds.

The contents of many of the trucks that entered Gaza in recent weeks are still awaiting picking up on the Gazan side of the Kerem Shalom crossing.

The aid underwent an inspection by Israeli authorities before entering Gaza via the crossing.

The UN has said 600 trucks of aid need to be distributed each day in order to properly feed the Strip’s roughly two million people.

Germany says anti-Israel and pro-Russia hackers are its biggest cybercrime threats
[IsraelTimes] Damage from cyberattacks, most of them on public and federal institutions, cost a record $204 billion last year, Berlin says

Cybercrime in Germany rose to a record level last year, driven by hacker attacks from pro-Russian and anti-Israeli groups, the BKA Federal Crime Office reported on Tuesday, as the government said it would boost countermeasures to combat it.

"Cybercrime is an increasing threat to our security," said German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt. "It is getting more aggressive, but our counter-strategies are also becoming more professional."

Some 131,391 cases of cybercrime took place in Germany last year, and a further 201,877 cases were committed from abroad or an unknown location, a BKA report said.

The actors behind the hacker attacks on German targets were primarily either pro-Russian or anti-Israeli, said the BKA, adding targets were mostly public and federal institutions.

Ransomware, when criminals copy and encrypt data, is one of the main threats, said the BKA, with 950 companies and institutes reporting cases in 2024.

German digital association Bitkom said damage caused by cyberattacks there totaled 178.6 billion euros ($203.87 billion) last year, some 30.4 billion euros ($34.7 billion) more than in the previous year.

Dobrindt said the government planned to extend the legal capabilities authorities could use to combat cybercrime and set higher security standards for companies.

Spain reneges on $325m purchase of anti-tank missiles from Israel’s Rafael
[IsraelTimes] Withdrawal from deal to buy 168 launchers and 1,680 missiles, signed days before the Oct. 7 attack, comes as Madrid calls for sanctions and arms embargo on Israel over Gaza war

Spain has canceled another arms deal with Israel, the Spanish Defense Ministry said Tuesday, confirming local media reports, as Madrid and other European governments urged sanctions on Jerusalem due to the Gaza war.
More for the IDF to use in the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. The fix, too, is easy: any future contract with Spain for at least a generation needs a 100% penalty for cancellation or alteration-of-terms clause. Come to think of it, what is the cancellation penalty in these two contracts?
The cancellation will affect the purchase of SPIKE LR2 anti-tank missile systems with an estimated value of 285 million euros ($325 million). The systems would have been developed in Spain by Pap Tecnos, a subsidiary of Israel’s Rafael Advance Defense Systems, according to local press.

The deal included 168 launchers and 1,680 missiles, according to Israel’s market daily Globes, which added that Spain might purchase American-made Javelin missiles instead.
This could be fun. Untrustworthy customers discover they are presented with a large security mark-up and cancellation fee built into the contract. Perhaps they should go straight to Russia or China, despite the quality downgrade.
The Rafael deal was finalized four days before the Hamas onslaught of October 7, 2023, when thousands of terrorists invaded southern Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages, sparking the Gaza war.

Responding to Spanish reports that the deal was scrapped, Rafael said it was unaware that Madrid had reneged on the purchase.

Spain had in April canceled an order for 15 million Israeli-made bullets. The government of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had been briefly thrown into disarray after he had announced the purchase would go forth despite earlier promising to scrap the deal. Sanchez canceled the sale after his hard-left coalition partners threatened to resign.

Spain is a long-time critic of Israel’s policies toward Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. Speaking in the Spanish parliament last month, Sanchez called Israel a “genocidal state.”

His foreign minister, Jose Manuel Albares, told reporters last month that Spain would request the “immediate suspension” of the European Union’s cooperation deal with Israel, and would also urge partners to impose an arms embargo on Israel.

The EU commenced a review of its cooperation deal with Israel last month, as Israel launched a renewed offensive in Gaza that aims to seize 75 percent of the Strip. The renewed offensive was accompanied by a US- and Israel-backed aid distribution scheme meant to circumvent Hamas, after some two months in which no aid entered the Strip at all.

Spain had already outraged Jerusalem by recognizing Palestinian statehood in May 2024, in a joint move with Ireland and Norway, which have also been highly critical of Israel’s policies in Palestinian territories.

Amid the aid block and renewed offensive, countries that have had warmer ties with Israel have also stepped up criticism of the war in Gaza.

French President Emmanuel Macron has recently indicated his country would recognize a Palestinian state as well. Macron, who last year expressed support for an arms embargo on Israel, has also been accused by Jerusalem of blocking Israeli arms firms from holding displays in French weapons expos.

Germany, Israel’s largest arms supplier after the United States, has also recently hardened its tone against the war in Gaza, with Chancellor Friedrich Merz last month saying Israel’s conduct “is no longer comprehensible.”

His foreign minister, Johann Wadephul, has threatened “steps” against Israel, and last week said Berlin would decide whether to approve new arms shipments based on an assessment of the humanitarian situation in the Strip.

Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom have also threatened “concrete actions” against Israel if it doesn’t end the war and increase the flow of aid into Gaza. Canada and the UK have already suspended some arms export licenses to Israel.

The UK has also frozen trade talks with Israel over what London said was the “indefensible” decision to widen the Gaza war and halt the flow of aid to the Strip. Canada, meanwhile, confirmed Monday that it has been investigating war crimes in Gaza.

Key US consulting firm withdraws from American- and Israeli-backed Gaza aid agency
This is the third CEO — the group has a seriously deep bench at the C-Suite level.
[IsraelTimes] Boston Consulting Group’s termination of contract with Gaza Humanitarian Foundation will make agency’s job harder, sources say; GHF names interfaith leader Johnnie Moore as new CEO

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a US management consulting firm that helped establish the new American- and Israeli-backed aid distribution mechanism in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
, has abandoned the project, a spokesperson for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) said Monday.

Confirming a report by The Washington Post, the spokesperson said BCG had called back its team from Tel Aviv on Friday.

The report came as GHF announced it would appoint US evangelical interfaith leader Rev. Johnnie Moore as its new executive chairman, following the departure of CEO Jack Wood last month.

According to the report, BCG had been responsible for setting the payment and procurement rates for a network of contractors tasked with constructing four GHF aid centers in southern Gaza, one of which is not yet active. GHF began handing out food boxes in Gaza last week in a scheme supported by Washington and Jerusalem to circumvent Hamas
..not a terrorist organization, even though it kidnaps people, holds hostages, and tries to negotiate by executing them,...
in the distribution of aid.

A BCG spokesperson cited by the Post said the consultancy had ended its contract with GHF and placed a senior partner overseeing the project on leave pending an internal review.

BCG had offered its services to the humanitarian effort on a pro bono basis and did not receive any compensation for its work, said the BCG spokesperson. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
another person familiar with the project disputed the spokesperson’s account and said BCG had submitted invoices for more than $1 million each month, according to the Post.

The newspaper cited "three people closely connected" to both BCG and GHF as saying the consultancy’s withdrawal would make it more difficult for the new aid distribution to continue operating.

The BCG withdrawal adds to the challenges faced by the GHF since it began operations, including the rejection of the new distribution scheme by the United Nations
...aka the Oyster Bay Chowder and Marching Society...
and other humanitarian groups; the departure of Wood, who left before any of the distribution sites opened, citing concern that the agency could not adhere to humanitarian principles; and reports, denied by GHF, that Israeli troops have killed dozens of Paleostinian aid seekers.

After nearly three months in which it had halted aid to Gaza, Israel announced last week the start of the new distribution system, meant to keep supplies from reaching Hamas members.

Israel has accused the terror group of hoarding humanitarian supplies that the country began letting into the Strip. The ongoing war was sparked by Hamas’s terror onslaught of October 7, 2023.

The new system has come under harsh condemnation from the United Nations, rights groups and foreign countries that say it does not sufficiently address the Strip’s humanitarian needs.

Humanitarian agencies have said the GHF system requires aid seekers to walk long distances in dangerous areas, and risks overcrowding the distribution sites. The UN has also said the Strip needs some 500-600 truckloads of aid a day, while GHF has reported distributing a few dozen truckloads each day.

According to GHF, the agency has to date distributed 7 million meals at three distribution sites. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
the number is based on boxes of dry food products that require cooking equipment or community kitchens, which are limited throughout the war-torn Strip.

Moore, the agency’s new CEO, said shortly before his appointment that he has had "several really encouraging meetings" in recent weeks with the Red Thingy, which has refused to participate in the GHF.

"We don’t always see eye-to-eye, but we have always found ways to collaborate meaningfully together," he said. "We trust one another."

Commenting on his new job, Moore added, "GHF believes that serving the people of Gaza with dignity and compassion must be the top priority."

"We welcome others to join us and urge extreme caution against sharing unverified information from sources that have repeatedly issued demonstrably false reports," said Moore, referring to the dozens of Paleostinians reported killed near the GHF sites.

"False reporting of violence at our sites has a chilling effect on the local population and we can think of no greater disservice to a community in dire need."

Moore has served as a liaison between evangelical Christians and US President Donald Trump
...dictatorial for repealing some (but not all) of the diktats of his predecessor, misogynistic because he likes pretty girls, homophobic because he doesn't think gender bending should be mandatory, truly a man for all seasons...
and is a commissioner on the US Commission on International Religious Freedom. He is outspoken on religious freedom and toleration, and meets regularly with Middle Eastern heads of state.

Arabia
Saudi official says Israel harmed normalization by blocking West Bank visit – report
”How dare that little pipsqueak of a Jew stop us from doing as we please, as if he were our equal!
[IsraelTimes] Israel’s decision to block a Saudi-led delegation from visiting the West Bank earlier this week may have harmed the prospect of normalization between the two countries, a Saudi official warned on Tuesday.

A delegation comprising the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, and Jordan had been slated to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah on Sunday, but was prevented by Israel from visiting the territory.

The visit, which would have been the visit by a Saudi foreign minister since Israel took over the West Bank in 1967, had been intended to boost the legitimacy of the PA as a viable candidate to replace Hamas as the governing body of Gaza after the war.
Ah. There’s the mistake that triggered the block: the PA is not a viable candidate to replace Hamas.
Speaking to the Kan public broadcaster on Tuesday, an unnamed source within the Saudi royal family said that the prevailing view in Riyadh was that “Israel made a mistake in its decision” to bar the delegation from entering.
Yeah? The prevailing view in Jerusalem is that Riyadh made a mistake in refusing to formalize an Abraham Accord with Israel, just for a little snit over Hamas, whom you guys do not like very much at all despite being brotherly Moslems.
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s behavior is improper; he is trying to protect himself because of his own interests,” the source was quoted as saying. “He doesn’t want peace, he only wants to make problems.”
Correction: He does not want surrender. Thus he needs to make the kind of problems that will prevent another 10/7.

Canadian authorities investigating alleged war crimes in Gaza, report says
[IsraelTimes] Canadian police confirm reports they are investigating alleged war crimes in the Gaza Strip, without detailing the scope of the investigation, the Toronto Star reports.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police began a probe into the Israel-Hamas war in early 2024, according to the report.

The report does not explicitly say if a specific Israeli is being investigated.

The RCMP probe is a “structural investigation” — a fact-finding mission that aims to hold war criminals accountable and prevent them from finding safe haven by handing information collected to other authorities or trying suspects in court.

According to The Star, cases rarely end up in Canadian courts.
Sounds awfully onanistic…

#2  One good thing about this Gaza war is it it is excellent at flushing out all the hidden antisemites in the West.
Usually they stay hidden.
I must admit I have been ASTONISHED at just how many of them there are.
Good thing Israel is so strong politically in the West, otherwise it could get bad, really bad.
I don't know if Canada has an equivalent to AIPAC, but I'm guessing they do.

#3  It’s an intellectual fad — all those bright college kids and their educated elders enjoying the frisson of edginess by picking on the Jews in their vicinity. Especially because under the Biden-Harris Politburo there were not only no repercussions, but rewards for displaying the signal that one was part of the in crowd. Only blue collar types and American heartlanders, many conservatives and Trump voters love Israel and accept Jews as just like everyone else. The VFW post here interviewed my mother for their archive and put her and the trailing daughters in the lead car for the Memorial Day parade when she moved here after my father died, and her speaking engagements around the region for the Holocaust society were always well attended.

That’s changing, now that Donald Trump is in charge — the costs, as our elite universities and even poor Santa Ono, almost-president of the University of Florida, are discovering to their anger, are become very, very high indeed. And in the red states that change, I think, will be permanent as a mark of differentiation — we are people of conscience, and so trust all to be as human as ourselves and hold all to the same standards, while the mark of the Progressive is the hatred he cherishes in his bosom. If we can hold on to the federal government for one more term, able to keep federal funding away from hate-filled blue enclaves, that might be enough to reset outward behaviours at least, invoking self-censorship in public on certain topics.

Three IDF soldiers killed by roadside bomb in north Gaza’s Jabalia
[IsraelTimes] Staff Sgt. Lior Steinberg, Staff Sgt. Ofek Barhana and Staff Sgt. Omer Van Gelder die when their Humvee drives over IED planted along convoy route

Strip, the military announced Tuesday morning.

The slain soldiers were named as Staff Sgt. Lior Steinberg, 20, a combat medic, from Petah Tikva; Staff Sgt. Ofek Barhana, 20, a combat medic, from Yavne; and Staff Sgt. Omer Van Gelder, 22, a squad commander, from Maale Adumim.

It was the most deadly loss for the Israel Defense Forces since it renewed combat operations in Gaza after a ceasefire collapsed in March.

The troops all served in the Givati Brigade’s Rotem Battalion. During the incident in Jabalia, they were operating as part of a platoon under the 9th Armored Battalion.

According to an initial IDF probe, the five troops were in a Humvee in Jabalia, escorting an army fire engine that had entered Gaza to extinguish an armored personnel carrier that caught fire due to a technical issue.

On the way out of Jabalia, the convoy was hit by an bomb planted on the side of a road. It directly struck the Humvee, killing and wounding the soldiers.

The two maimed troops were listed in moderate condition.

Along the same route, the IDF later discovered some 20 more roadside kabooms that had been rigged for detonation. It was unclear why the others did not explode.

Evacuation of the injured soldiers was complicated and prolonged, as the troops in the convoy realized they were in a booby-trapped area. The IDF also carried out numerous strikes in the area to enable the evacuation.

The military said it was investigating the incident further, including how terror operatives had identified the route used by the army, and when the bombs had been planted.

Van Gelder was related to Sgt. First Class (res.) Omer Moshe Gaeldor, 30, who was killed in November in Leb

Seeking to bolster security after repeated shootings, GHF says sites closed Wednesday
[IsraelTimes] Aid group says it’s working to accommodate larger crowds and has made a series of requests to IDF aimed at boosting safety measures after three straight days of mass-casualty incidents

Humanitarian Foundation announced that its aid distribution sites would not operate on Wednesday in order to give time for the US- and Israeli-backed organization to carry out logistical work needed to accommodate larger crowds.

The extra day will also give the IDF time to prepare safer access routes to distribution sites before operations resume on Thursday, a GHF spokesperson said, after a third consecutive day saw a mass-casualty incident targeting Paleostinians seeking to pick up boxes of food.

The IDF’s Arabic-language spokesperson also issued a statement warning Paleostinians that travel on roads leading to the aid sites would be prohibited in the interim, as they are considered combat zones.

Another GHF spokesperson told The Times of Israel that the organization is actively engaged in talks with the IDF to enhance the army’s security measures beyond the immediate perimeter of GHF sites.

To support civilian safety outside distribution sites, the spokesperson said GHF has asked the IDF to introduce measures that guide foot traffic in a way that minimizes confusion or escalation risks near the IDF-operated perimeter around the sites; develop clearer IDF-issued guidelines to help Paleostinians safely reach the distribution sites; and boost IDF training and refine internal procedures to ensure the safety of Paleostinians.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, the IDF opened fire toward Paleostinians who had approached troops after straying off a pre-approved path for reaching a Rafah distribution site.

Hamas
..the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®,...
health authorities claimed 31 people were killed and 170 others were maimed in the Sunday incident; three people were killed and 35 were maimed in the Monday incident; and 27 were killed and 90 were maimed in the Tuesday incident.

The figures were not verified, and the IDF asserted on Tuesday that Hamas was inflating them.

A senior IDF official told the Axios news site Tuesday that initial findings from a probe into the shootings near indicated that Paleostinians mistakenly approached soldiers after getting lost on their way to the aid center.

The UN and aid organizations warned for weeks that such incidents would result from forcing Gaza’s entire population of two million people to travel long distances and pass through IDF lines in order to reach the GHF’s distribution sites.

Israel and the US have promoted the GHF model, arguing that it can effectively box Hamas out of the aid distribution process after the terror group managed to divert much of the aid that was coming in through the UN and other international organizations — charges that those groups have denied.

GHF has been operating between one and three sites each day since beginning operations on May 26. Two of the sites are located in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, while a third is located adjacent to the Netzarim corridor in central Gaza.

While much of Gaza’s population of about two million is located in southern Gaza, their tent encampments are not adjacent to GHF distribution sites, and those in northern and central Gaza have reported having to walk dozens of kilometers, sometimes while dodging IDF fire, in order to pick up a box of food.

GHF has said that it is working to open new distribution sites, including in northern Gaza, but it has not given any timetable, as the tens of thousands of Paleostinians amassing at distribution sites indicate that the need for food in Gaza remains dire.

Israel blocked any aid from entering the Strip for almost all of March, April and May in an effort to squeeze Hamas in the ongoing hostage negotiations, but IDF officials privately acknowledged that the blockade brought the Strip to the brink of starvation.

For its part, GHF has boasted being able to distribute over 7 million meals from over 100,000 boxes distributed over nine days. The boxes contain mostly dry food products, though, that require cooking equipment and community kitchens, which are very limited in the Strip, as fuel remains very limited.

Separately on Tuesday, UN diplomats told Rooters that 10 Security Council members have asked the 15-member body to hold a Wednesday vote on a draft resolution that demands "an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza respected by all parties."

A resolution needs nine votes in favor and no vetoes by the permanent members — the United States, Russia, China, Britannia or La Belle France — to pass. This one is likely to be vetoed by the US, though, which has ardently defended Israel at the UN, while placing sole blame for the conflict on Hamas.

Rockets fired from Syria for first time in a year, Israel blames Sharaa; another Houthi missile downed without effect
[IsraelTimes] IDF carries out airstrikes across southern Syria after two projected fired from 12 km inside Syria; Houthi missile triggers sirens across central Israel; no injuries reported

Defense Minister Israel Katz said Jerusalem would mount a "full response" against the regime of Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa after two rockets were fired from Syria at the Golan Heights for the first time in over a year, minutes before a Iran's Houthi sock puppets
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him...
missile triggered sirens across central Israel.

No injuries were reported from either attack. The IDF said it had responded to the attack from Syria with artillery fire on the source of the rockets, some 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from the border with Israel.
That was fast.
The IDF said the rockets had been launched from the area of Tasil in south Syria, near an area where button men had fired at Israeli troops in April.

The IDF also carried out a series of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s throughout southern Syria that it said targeted weapons belonging to the regime.

"The Syrian regime is responsible for what is happening in Syria and will continue to bear the consequences as long as hostile activity continues from its territory," the IDF said in a statement.

Katz issued his own statement asserting that Israel views Sharaa himself as "directly responsible for every threat and [rocket] fire toward the State of Israel."

"The full response will come soon," said Katz, adding that Israel "will not allow a return to a pre-October 7 reality."

The rockets from Syria had triggered sirens in the Golan Heights communities of Hispin and Ramat Magshimim. Police later said officers had located the site of the two rocket impacts in an open area near Ramat Magshimim.

The Syrian foreign ministry asserted that it "has not and will not pose a threat to any party in the region" and is working to rein in armed, non-state actors in southern Syria.

The Syrian government claimed it had yet to confirm the rocket launches that targeted Israel, but it did condemn the Israeli counter-attack, saying it resulted in "heavy human and material losses" and violated Syria’s illusory sovereignty "at a time when we are most in need of calm and peaceful solutions."

"We call on the international community to assume its responsibilities in stopping these attacks, and to support efforts aimed at restoring security and stability to Syria and the region," the Syrian foreign ministry statement said.

It was the first alert in the Golan since a drone alarm from Iraq sounded there in November, and the first the first rocket fire from Syria since May 5, 2024, seven months before a jihadi group led by Sharaa toppled the country’s Iran-backed President Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Horror of Homs...
The United States, which previously placed a bounty on Sharaa’s head, has since embraced him and removed Assad-era sanctions on Syria. On Tuesday, Sky News Arabic reported Sharaa will speak at the coming UN General Assembly in September, which would make him the first Syrian leader to travel to the US in almost 60 years.

Israel has remained publicly leery despite reportedly seeking warmer ties with Sharaa’s administration. Following Assad’s ouster, Israel moved troops into the Syrian side of the two countries’ demilitarized buffer zone, and has carried out numerous strikes across Syria.

ISRAEL DOWNS 3RD HOUTHI MISSILE IN AS MANY DAYS
Additionally on Tuesday evening, the IDF said it downed a missile fired by Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
’s Iran-backed Houthis that had triggered sirens in central Israel roughly 20 minutes after the attack from Syria. The sirens were preceded by an early warning to residents via a push notification on their phones. It was the third Houthi attack in as many days.

Sirens also sounded some three minutes later in the northern towns of in the northern town of Nof HaGalil and other communities near Nazareth. The IDF said those sirens had been caused by "fears of interceptor fragments" but were later confirmed to have been a "false identification," meaning not a threat.

Possible fragments from either the Houthi or interceptor missiles landed in the central city of Modiin, police said, adding that officers were at the scene to remove the debris.

The Houthi missile stopped air traffic at Ben Gurion International Airport for some 25 minutes, in accordance with standard procedure.

IDF rejects ‘exaggerated’ Hamas claims of people killed by troops near Gaza aid site
See the Washington Post’s apology here.
[IsraelTimes] Spokesman says army probing 3rd incident in as many days, acknowledges troops fired warning shots but insists they ‘didn’t hit that many people as far as we understand’

The Israel Defense Forces’ Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin on Tuesday accused Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
of making "exaggerated" claims about deadly incidents over the past three days near US- and Israel-backed aid distribution sites in southern Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks.
The IDF front man’s televised presser also featured the presentation of a map of military positions in the Strip and new details on the deaths of three troops Monday.

"This week, it was claimed that the IDF fired on civilians at the aid distribution site. This is a totally false report, it echoes Hamas propaganda," said Defrin at his presser, referring to reports of 31 people killed near a site in Rafah early Sunday.

"This did not happen," he said of those reports.

"Hamas disseminates false information, which is unfortunately taken by some international media without verification," said Defrin, even as The News Agency that Dare Not be Named released a statement standing by its coverage of Sunday’s incident.

The IDF has acknowledged firing warning shots at Paleostinians about a kilometer (0.6 miles) from the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation site before it opened for distribution on Sunday. However,
a person who gets all wrapped up in himself makes a mighty small package...
it denied that any gunfire took place "within" the aid site during opening hours, and GHF said the aid distribution went on without incident.

On Tuesday morning, Hamas again reported dozens of people killed and injured at the aid site in Rafah, but GHF denied the reports. Asked about those reports, Defrin reiterated the military’s response that troops had fired warning shots, but said troops "didn’t hit that many people as far as we understand [and] we will continue to investigate."

"The numbers given by Hamas were the same. It reported 29 on Sunday and today — exaggerated. We are investigating," he said.

"We fired warning shots toward a group of people who posed a threat to our forces, far from where they were supposed to be. Warning shots were fired, not to hit anyone," said Defrin, referring to Tuesday’s reports. "According to the claims, people were hit, so we are investigating, but it will take time."

Defrin added that he was aware of criticism that the IDF takes too long to investigate such claims. "We will not report information or details that are not true," he said. "Reliability is critical, even if it takes time."

He said, "Hamas is losing control of the population" in Gaza because GHF prevented the terror group from controlling humanitarian aid in the Strip.

"Alongside the continuous military pressure against Hamas, its rule is cracking and is being undermined," said Defrin. "Each day, tens of thousands of food packages are handed out, directly to residents."

During the presser, Defrin said three troops who were killed in action on Monday in northern Gaza’s Jabalia were hit by roadside kabooms planted by button men who had set out from a tunnel hidden inside a partially demolished building.

"The holy warriors set out from a tunnel shaft in a building and planted the bombs. This is an active tunnel that is used for terror," he said.

"The entrance to the tunnel is located inside a destroyed building, close to a route. Therefore, it is important to emphasize that this building is a military target, like tens of thousands of other buildings in Gaza that are used for terror," Defrin said.

"Nearly every other building is booby-trapped and contains a tunnel entrance. We are demolishing these homes, not for the sake of destruction. Every building that is destroyed poses an operational threat and could harm our forces," he said.

The IDF has accused Hamas of embedding itself in civilian infrastructure, including schools, mosques and hospitals, throughout the war sparked on October 7, 2023, when the terror group invaded Israel to kill some 1,200 people and take 251 hostages.

Defrin also presented for the first time a map showing troop deployment in the IDF’s renewed ground offensive in Gaza, which the military said last month would seek to seize 75 percent of the Strip.

According to the map, the Gaza Division is operating in the Rafah area, the 36th and 98th divisions are pushing into Khan Younis from the south and east, the 252nd is operating in Gaza City and the Netzarim Corridor area, and the 162nd is fighting Hamas in the Strip’s north.

AP STANDS BY REPORTING AS ISRAEL, US SLAM MEDIA GAZA COVERAGE
…unlike the Washington Post, which shows relative level of professional ethics.
In an online briefing for international media, a government front man reiterated the military’s response to Gaza casualties reported Tuesday, saying troops had "diligently" fired warning shots at suspects who approached them roughly half a kilometer (0.3 miles) away from the Rafah aid site.

"Let’s be clear: Israel is not preventing Gazooks from accessing humanitarian aid, and the IDF did not fire at civilians in or near aid distribution zones," said David Mencer. "The IDF is doing everything in its power to allow Gazooks to get to the humanitarian aid."

Referring to the casualties reported on Sunday, Mencer said, "The IDF’s initial investigation confirms that serious accusations made on Sunday in so much of the media... were based on Hamas propaganda."

He said the IDF had already "put out materials proving them to be false and baseless."

In fact, the IDF has not issued any materials from the incident in Rafah to prove its account of what happened there. The IDF did release a video from an unrelated event later Sunday, which the military explicitly said was from Khan Younis and not Rafah.

Mencer said it was "clear that Hamas is trying their hardest to keep its own people, Gazooks, away from the GHF distribution sites."

"We urge the media — do not amplify Hamas disinformation. Verify before reporting," Mercer said. "It’s a battle of the narrative, and too many global newsrooms have become foot soldiers for Hamas."

The statement came after US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee on Monday accused foreign outlets of fomenting antisemitism with their coverage, leading to an attack on pro-Israel protesters in Boulder, Colorado, on Monday, and the killing of two Israeli embassy workers in Washington last month.

Responding to Huckabee’s statement, The News Agency that Dare Not be Named said it stood by its reporting, which the news agency said included multiple eyewitness accounts, interviews with health and hospital officials and the Red Thingy, as well as statements from the IDF and GHF.

"The Israeli military later released a video of what it said were masked men firing at civilians trying to collect aid, which the AP included in its coverage. That video was shot in daylight from the city of Khan Younis, miles from the incident in Rafah that witnesses described," the AP statement said.

"The Rafah incident occurred in an Israeli military zone that international journalists have been barred from entering except on approved military embeds. AP and other news organizations have repeatedly called for international journalists to be allowed into Gaza to report on the war," the statement added.

Huckabee had cited "drone video and first-hand accounts" as showing that the reports by AP and other major outlets had been false.

It was unclear what drone footage and first-hand accounts Huckabee was referring to. A US embassy spokesperson cited IDF drone footage when pressed by The Times of Israel, but the footage released by the military was not shot at the time or place of the Rafah incident.

Home Front: WoT
Day 3: Boulder jihadi disguised himself as a gardener to approach victims, ICE picks up the fam, videos posted on pro-Hamas Telegram channel of jihadi pre-attack
Day 2 reports were here and here, and Day 1 is here..
[IsraelTimes] Mohamed Soliman says he carried out firebombing to avenge ‘his people’ and hoped to die during the attack; Jewish community announces vigil and fundraising for the victims

The suspect in the firekaboom on a rally for Israeli hostages in Colorado on Sunday disguised himself as a gardener to approach the group and has no regrets about the attack that aimed to kill all of the participants at the demonstration, according to an affidavit for an arrest warrant filed by a Boulder detective.

The affidavit, filed by a detective who interviewed Mohammed Sabry Soliman after the attack, came alongside a statement filed by an FBI agent who also spoke with the suspect. Soliman is being charged by both state and federal authorities for the attack that maimed 12 in the city of Boulder.

Police first heard about the attack when they received a call at 1:27 p.m. about a man with a "blow torch" who was lighting people on fire. Officers arrived at the scene three minutes later. Witnesses directed them to Soliman, who was shirtless, standing on a patch of grass, facing the bystanders and shouting. He was arrested two minutes after officers arrived.

Witnesses said Soliman, 45, threw the homemade Molotov cocktails into the crowd, "which burst upon impact, creating large flames," the detective said. Eight people were burned or caught on fire, and four victims with minor injuries later came forward. The victims’ names were redacted.

Soliman also used a commercial weed sprayer, mounted on his back and filled with gasoline, as a makeshift flamethrower. The device malfunctioned and caught on fire, prompting Soliman to drop the sprayer and remove his shirt, witnesses later said.

Police located a silver Toyota Prius registered to Soliman a few blocks away. Inside were cans of gasoline, rags and a Koran.

Soliman, who was lightly injured, told medical personnel that he attacked the group to avenge "his people."

Soliman has a valid Colorado driver’s license, lives in Colorado Springs, and has no criminal history in the state.

The report said Soliman was born in Egypt, lived in Kuwait for 17 years at some point, and moved to Colorado Springs three years ago. The US Department of Homeland Security said Soliman’s tourist visa expired and he was in the US illegally.

Soliman planned the attack for a year and learned to make Molotov cocktails on YouTube. He took a class to acquire a concealed firearms permit and learned to fire a gun, but was unable to buy a firearm because he is not a legal US citizen.

He bought glass containers for the Molotov cocktails at a Target, filled them with gas from a gas station he stopped at on his way to the attack, and put them in a black storage bin. Investigators later recovered 16 unused Molotov cocktails from the scene. Soliman told police he only threw two Molotov cocktails at the group "because he got scared."

In order to approach the protest group without raising suspicion, Soliman disguised himself as a gardener, wearing an orange vest, carrying flowers he bought at Home Depot, and wearing the weed sprayer filled with gasoline.

He waited to carry out the attack until his oldest daughter graduated from high school on Thursday. He searched online for "Zionist groups," found the weekly gathering in Boulder, and attended its first gathering after his daughter’s graduation. He arrived at the scene 10 minutes before the group was scheduled to gather.

Soliman said "he wanted them all to die" and that he would "go back and do it again and had no regret." He told the detective that anyone who supports the existence of Israel on "our land," meaning Paleostine, is a Zionist. It was not clear if Soliman has Paleostinian ancestry.

Soliman said no one knew about his attack plan, including his family, who had cooperated with Sherlocks.

He repeatedly told police that he sought his own death.

"He said he had to do it, he should do it, and he would not forgive himself if he did not do it," the detective wrote. "Mohammed described his hopes for everyone in the Zionist group to die."

Soliman made similar statements to the FBI, telling an agent he wanted to "kill all Zionist people" and that he had vowed to "do it again." The FBI said Soliman had shouted "Free Paleostine" during the attack. Some legal filings spell his first name as Mohammed.

The victims ranged in age from 52 to 88. The 88-year-old woman was the most severely injured and was at death's door after the attack. Her current status is unclear.

Soliman has been charged with hate crimes by the federal government and with 16 counts of attempted murder by the State of Colorado, plus additional charges related to the use of incendiary devices. He faces life in prison if convicted.

The Boulder Jewish community said in a Tuesday statement that a vigil will be held for the victims on Wednesday.

The Boulder Jewish Festival is scheduled for Sunday and will be restructured to focus on the hostages. Details about the event are still being finalized. The Jewish Family Service of Boulder is offering free mental health services to anyone impacted by the attack.

JEWISHcolorado, a community group, launched an emergency fundraising effort for the victims.

The Boulder Jewish community is working on security with the Secure Community Network, a national Jewish security group, the police and the FBI to protect the local Jewish community center, synagogues and community events. There are no known additional threats to the community.

Organizers of the hostages rally, called Run for Their Lives, plan to continue marching for the hostages.
More from the Times of Israel about the hostage march:
The march attracted about 50 participants a week for the first nine months, and now gets about 30 each time, Amaru said. At certain points, like when the bodies of six hostages were discovered murdered in Gaza at the end of last August, several hundred joined the march, she noted.

Marches have always been done in cooperation with police, Amaru said, and the group had requested additional security forces after the murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim outside the Capital Jewish Museum on May 21.

Neither Amaru nor Shaffer was in Boulder at the time of the attack on Sunday, one of the few times they both missed it, and the event was supervised by an experienced volunteer, they said.

Amaru said the weekly march had become an important safe space for pro-Israel residents of Boulder to gather. The city’s estimated 10,000 Jews now comprise about 10 percent of its population, although the majority are not affiliated with a synagogue or are particularly vocal about Israel, she noted.

“The people who participate in our Run For Their Lives community have been so aligned in its mission, and really care about Israel,” Amaru said. “We have gotten so much support from the Jewish communities around us since the attack.”

However, Shaffer added, the climate of the city is a “cesspool” of violent hatred toward Jews and Israel, encouraged in part by local government officials.

“I am deeply angry and profoundly disappointed over the failure of non-Jewish faith groups and other civic organizations to step up to support us,” he said. “Even after the October 7 attack, some individuals paid quiet, polite condolences, but public condemnation has been completely missing in action.”

The Boulder municipality issued a statement Monday condemning the attack and pledging solidarity with the victims and members of the city’s Jewish community. City Council Member Taishya Adams, a figure frequently accused of antisemitism by local Jewish representatives, declined to endorse that statement.

“I cannot sign into a letter that equates the calls for a ‘Free Palestine’ with antisemitism,” she posted in a comment on the city’s Facebook page. “Without the anti-Zionist part, the reader will fail to understand a key driver of this terrible attack.”

Boulder has one of the fastest-growing Jewish communities in the United States, with people from diverse backgrounds coming from all over the US, Amaru noted. “It’s different from a place like Denver, where you have families that have been deeply rooted there for a long time,” she added.

Family of Colorado firebombing suspect taken into federal immigration custody
[IsraelTimes] The family of the Colorado firebombing suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, has been taken into custody by the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), says US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.

Soliman, an Egyptian national, came to the US on a tourist visa in 2022. He stayed after the visa expired and was in the US illegally, the department has said.

“Today the Department of Homeland Security and ICE are taking the family of suspected Boulder, Colorado, terrorist and illegal alien Mohamed Soliman into ICE custody,” Noem says on X.

“Mohamed’s despicable actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but we’re also investigating to what extent his family knew about his horrific attack, if they had any knowledge of it or if they provided any support,” she says.

Soliman lived in Colorado Springs with his wife and five children.

Authorities have said the family is cooperating with the investigation.

Pro-terror activists circulate videos backing Colorado attack, urging further violence — ADL
[IsraelTimes] Antisemitic, pro-terror US activists are sharing videos purportedly showing the suspect in the Colorado firebombing attack to urge followers toward further violence, the Anti-Defamation League says.

The videos are posted on an Arabic-language Telegram channel called Taufan al-Ummah that has 30,000 followers. The name of the channel translates to “Flood of the Muslims” and refers to Hamas’s October 2023 onslaught in Israel, which is referred to as the “Al-Aqsa Flood” by the Palestinian terror group.

Yesterday, the channel shared two videos that claim to show the Colorado suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, immediately before the attack. The channel claims to have received the video from a private source who is “close to the hero.”

The ADL says the videos have not been verified and should be treated with suspicion, although the underlying purpose — stoking terrorism and antisemitism — is clear.

In one of the clips, Soliman says in Arabic: “God is greater than anything. Greater than the Zionists, greater than America and her weapons, greater than F-35 fighters, greater than everything.”

In another video, Soliman says: “For my mother, my wife, my children, my sister, my family. I bear witness for Allah and for you, in Allah and his prophet, and for love of Jihad that is greater than the love of you, the world, and everything in it, and with faith in Allah.”

Another post in the channel says, in reference to the Colorado attack: “With the simplest tools, you can inflict a heavy toll on the accursed Zionists and seek forgiveness before God. And you can contribute to the nation’s flood that has begun.”
From Skidmark’s Daily Mail link in comments, we have the daughter’s name. Note that the girl is a hijabi:
Habiba Soliman had applied for a scholarship from The Denver Gazette, and shared how much she has learned and grown as a person since immigrating from Kuwait two years ago.

The headscarf is the political symbol of Jihad, Sharia and Dhimmitude. This is fully in line with MB ideology that intends to transform the entire world into an Islamic slave empire.

The MB also isn't "extremist." It is one of the mainstream political schools of thought in the present day Islamic world represented and fostered by the Western political classes' (Trump 47 included) bestest friends, the Qataris.

Ultimately these asymmetrical 'terrorist' attacks are not the existential threat to the West.

The existential threat is the acquisition of political power by totalitarian, theocratic forces.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Bracing for attack on nuclear sites, Iran said to rebuild air defenses Israel hit last year
[IsraelTimes] Surface-to-air systems and radars being relocated and diversified, with some deployed closer to key nuke facilities, Financial Times reports

Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
is repairing and preparing its air defense systems, battered last year by Israel, to be ready against a possible US or Israeli strike on its nuclear sites, the Financial Times reported, citing analysts familiar with Western intelligence assessments and satellite imagery.

Data indicates that Iran has relocated a number of air defense systems, including Russian-made S-300 launchers, to prime nuclear sites, among them its uranium enrichment facilities in Natanz and Fordo.
Isn’t that the one that couldn’t do anything about IDF F-16s over Syria for the past decade or more, not to mention Iran using the same system could do nothing about the IAF rampaging through last year?
"We are witnessing a remarkable improvement in the capability and readiness of the country’s air defense," Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of Iran’s armed forces, said last month, according to the Sunday report. "The enemies of the land of the Medes and the Persians must understand that any violation of our country’s airspace will inflict significant damage upon them."
You go ahrad thinking that, dude. At least until the IAF rampages through again, this time with added stealth F-35s.
The developments come with Israel said to be poised to launch Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s on Iran’s nuclear sites despite ongoing US efforts to negotiate a new deal aimed at preventing Tehran from building nuclear weapons. US has insisted Iran not enrich uranium, a right that Tehran is adamant about preserving. The Trump administration has threatened to take military action if the talks fail.

Iran’s regional proxies began attacking Israel in late 2023 in support of Hamas
..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,...
, which started the ongoing war in Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
with its October 7 invasion of southern Israel. The fighting, as many had feared, eventually drew Iran and Israel into direct conflict. Iran twice fired barrages of hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel, first in April 2024, then again in October. The attacks were largely thwarted by Israeli air defense working in cooperation with the US and its regional allies.

After the first attack, Israel carried out a limited strike in Iran, and after the second, it bombed numerous sites, reportedly targeting air defense systems, including the much vaunted S-300s.
Tolja so.
Assessments of the success varied. Israeli officials claimed significant damage, with one, speaking anonymously to Fox News, saying that Iran was left "essentially naked."

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
according to the FT, open source imagery showed many air defense sites may have been empty, making it unclear just how many launchers were destroyed.

Since then, Iran has been striving to rebuild its capabilities, and two unnamed sources familiar with intelligence reports said that it has moved and diversified its launchers and radars.

In a show of force, an S-300 launcher and a radar truck participated in "Army Day" celebrations in Tehran last month, and during a February military exercise, an S-300 was shown firing a missile using an Iranian-designed radar system. Analysts have said that this may have been because the original Russian system was destroyed, the report noted.

In addition to Russian equipment, Iran also has domestically produced surface-to-air systems, including long and medium-range missiles.

"While everyone pays attention to the S-300, Iran attaches great importance to the creation of the most mobile, modern air defense systems which can quickly change positions, hide in shelters, making them less vulnerable to stand off strikes with long-range missiles," Yuri Lyamin, an air defense specialist at Moscow’s Centre for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, was quoted as saying.

Experts who spoke to the newspaper noted the capabilities that Israel has in penetrating Iran’s airspace, but the limited bombloads that its jets can carry, which would likely require several runs over many hours, if not days, to achieve the goal of destroying nuclear sites buried in underground bunkers. At the same time, the attacking planes would have to repeatedly evade Iran’s defense systems.

...A dear, dear friend of mine worked as a strategic analyst - lost him to the 'vid just a month or two before the vaccines got here - and he once explained how the Iranians got the S-300.

RUSSIANS: "Buy this cool new missile, the S-300!"

IRANIANS: "Is it better than the S-200?"

RUSSIANS: "Of course it is - see, it has a THREE instead of a two!"

IRANIANS: "Sold!"

We laughed, but he cautioned us that it wasn't entirely off target. The guys who do their weapons purchasing have the job because they kick back enough to the Grand High Poohbah, or whatever the hell they call him, not because they know what they're talking about.

Police, Shin Bet arrested Palestinian for plotting terror attack on behalf of Iranian agent
[IsraelTimes] Suspect also burned IDF uniforms and hung banner over Jerusalem highway labeling Netanyahu a ‘dictator’ and declaring support for ousted Shin Bet chief, police say

Police and Shin Bet agents arrested a Paleostinian man on suspicion of plotting a terror attack in central Israel at the behest of an Iranian handler, a police front man said Tuesday.

The suspect, a man in his 30s residing in East Jerusalem’s Issawiya neighborhood, had been in contact online with an Iranian agent who asked him to carry out various "missions" against the State of Israel.

The agent reportedly asked his recruit to stage a terror attack in central Israel, but the suspect was arrested before he could set the plan into motion.

The suspect also received thousands of shekels for hanging signs against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu around Jerusalem, burning IDF uniforms, and gathering information about well-known sites in the capital, including the Western Wall and Mahane Yehuda Market.

He was also asked to set fire to a forest and smuggle arms into the West Bank, police said, but those missions were foiled upon his arrest.

Footage shared by law enforcement showed the suspect hanging a sign over a highway running through the Mount Scopus tunnel in Jerusalem, on an unknown date.

During a search of the suspect’s home in Issawiya, police seized cash allegedly transferred from the agent, a can of spray paint, two airsoft guns, and a substance thought to be a drug.

Officers also found in his possession a banner with a spray-painted message reading: "Bibi is a dictator, we are not weeds. Ronen Bar, we support you."

The banner — which masquerades as having come from an anti-Netanyahu activist — seems to refer to an April statement from the premier, in which he derided a group of IDF reservists advocating a hostage-ceasefire deal as "weeds... trying to weaken the State of Israel and the IDF."

According to police, the suspect was also offered thousands of shekels to enlist his own mother to carry out additional tasks for the Iranian agent.

The man’s detention was extended Tuesday, though police did not specify for how long.

State prosecutors were expected to file an indictment against him for serious security offenses in the days following the investigation’s announcement.

In recent years, police have arrested dozens of suspects, many Israeli citizens, for espionage on behalf of Iranian agents, with some agreeing to take on other tasks, including liquidations of senior figures.

The foreign handlers contact potential recruits through social media, offering them money to carry out missions to damage Israel’s national security.

US to scale down its military bases in Syria as part of policy shift, envoy says
[Strong] Security sources say US military equipment was already being consolidated in eastern Syria back in April, as envoy Thomas Barrack says goal is to go down to one base from eight

The United States will scale down its military presence in Syria to one base from eight, and US policies will shift in the country "because none of them worked" over the last century, the new US special envoy has said.

Thomas Barrack, who US President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
named special envoy last month shortly after he unexpectedly lifted US sanctions on Syria, made the comments in an interview with Ottoman Turkish broadcaster NTV late on Monday.

The US military has about 2,000 US troops in Syria, mostly in the northeast. They are working with local forces to prevent a resurgence of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
, which in 2014 seized large swathes of Iraq and Syria but was later pushed back.

Since rebels ousted Syria’s former president Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
One of the last of the old-fashioned hereditary iron-fisted fascist dictators...
in December, the United States and other countries are re-engaging with Damascus under Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

Barrack, also the US ambassador to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...a NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure....
member, but not the most reliable...

, raised the American flag over the ambassador’s residence in Damascus last week for the first time since 2012.

When asked how the Trump administration will shape its Syria policy and whether the US is considering troop withdrawal from Syria, Barrack said: "What I can assure you is that our current Syria policy will not be close to the Syria policy of the last 100 years, because none of these have worked."

Reducing the number of bases to one from eight was an important part of that shift, he said, according to an interview transcript.

Two security sources in bases where US troops are deployed told Rooters in April that military equipment and vehicles had already moved out of eastern Deir el-Zor and were being consolidated in the province of Hasakah.

One of the sources said the consolidation plan involved pulling all US troops out of Deir el-Zor province.

A US State Department official said separately that the military presence would be reduced "if and when appropriate" based on conditions, adding that troops are routinely calibrated based on operational needs and contingencies.

Barrack said that the Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were a US ally and a "very important factor" for the US Congress, and that directing them to integrate into a new Syrian government was also very important.

"Everyone needs to be reasonable in their expectations," he said.

The SDF is the main ally in a US coalition against ISIS in Syria. It is spearheaded by the YPG militia, which Ankara sees as an extension of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). The PKK decided to disband last month after a 40-year conflict with the Ottoman Turkish state.

Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
said last week that the SDF was using "stalling tactics," despite a deal with the Syrian government to integrate into Syria’s armed forces.

California got nearly $7B from feds for high-speed rail ‐ but never laid any track, bombshell report shows
[NY Post] Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy threatened Wednesday to pull federal grants for California’s High-Speed Rail Authority after it spent nearly $7 billion in taxpayer funds over a decade and a half without laying a single foot of track.

In a more than 300-page report, Duffy detailed the missed deadlines and stretched budget for the long-running project — and gave the Golden State’s high-speed rail office 37 days to respond or lose out on around $4 billion in grants.

"This report exposes a cold, hard truth: CHSRA has no viable path to complete this project on time or on budget," he said.

"CHSRA is on notice — If they can’t deliver on their end of the deal, it could soon be time for these funds to flow to other projects that can achieve President Trump’s vision of building great, big, beautiful things again," he added.

"Our country deserves high-speed rail that makes us proud — not boondoogle trains to nowhere."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office and the California High-Speed Rail Authority did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump Administration Sends $9.4 Billion Rescissions Package to House
[Breitbart] The Trump administration sent a $9.4 billion rescissions package to the House of Representatives that would eliminate “wasteful foreign aid spending” at the Department of State and USAID, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed.

In a joint statement, Johnson, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer R-MN), and Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI), highlighted how Republicans could now “fulfill” their “mandate and continue codifying into law a more efficient federal government.”

“Today, the House has officially received the rescissions request from the White House to eliminate $9.4 billion in wasteful foreign aid spending at the State Department and USAID and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS,” Johnson said in a post on X. “Now that this wasteful spending by the federal government has been identified by DOGE, quantified by the Administration, and sent to Congress, House Republicans will fulfill our mandate and continue codifying into law a more efficient federal government.”

“This is exactly what the American people deserve,” the statement continued. “Next week, we will put the rescissions bill on the floor of the House and encourage all our Members to support this commonsense measure.”

The House Oversight Committee also confirmed in a post on X that the White House had sent Congress a $9.4 billion rescissions package, which included $1.1 billion in cuts “to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS.”

“These outlets ATTACK the America First agenda on the taxpayers’ dime,” the House Oversight Committee wrote. “We’re ready to STOP this propaganda machine.”

The reports that a rescissions package had been sent to Congress comes after Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Russell Vought revealed during an interview with Fox News host Larry Kudlow that a rescission package with DOGE cuts would be sent to Congress.

“So, rumor has it that we’ve got a big rescission package, an Elon Musk DOGE rescission package coming up, can you confirm it?” Kudlow asked.

“I can,” Vought answered. “We’ll be spending that up on Monday or Tuesday, whenever the Houe is back in session, they will get our first rescissions bill. And, again, this has been proposed and we’ve talked about it, we want to make sure that Congress passes its first rescissions bill, including the DOGE, and we will send more it they pass it.”

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) issued a statement describing the White House sending the $9.4 billion rescissions package to Congress as being “another promise made, promise kept” by President Donald Trump and his administration.

“With our national debt soaring at an alarming $36 trillion, this rescissions package takes serious steps to ensure hard-earned dollars of American citizens are not funding woke and weaponized programs around the world in the cloak of ‘foreign aid’ or public broadcasting that can only be described as politically biased,” Marshall said.

In a press release, Marshall noted that “under the Impoundment Control Act (ICA), the Trump Administration may transmit a request to Congress to rescind previously appropriated funds through a rescissions package.”

Economy
What's happening in real estate?
[American Thinker] It sure seems that the fizz has left the bottle. Commentators who really don’t know what they’re talking about are blaming high mortgage interest rates. Really? Right now, rates are at about 7.5% — kind of, depending on the borrower’s credit score, the down payment, and the actual type and condition of the property being purchased. When I bought my house almost forty years ago, rates were at 9%.

What really happened, and what no one wants to talk about, is that just about five years ago, rates were really low...artificially.

Low rates naturally increase buyers’ purchasing power, which tends to drive up prices. A lot of recent purchases were consequently done at greater than the actual value, being based on prior and subsequent market statistics. Many folks have since found themselves upside-down because they owe more than their house is worth...but at least their payments are not supposed to be too severe. Should they want to or should they have to move, they’ve got some serious things to consider.

Residing underneath this situation is the peril of government meddling with market-driven economic realities. Had rates never been knocked down to around 3% by economically challenged politicians, there would never have been such a price bubble, and today’s market would be fairly normal. But such is not the case, and a lot of homes are gathering dust on the shelf. An agent I used to know would often say that there’s never anything wrong with a property that lowering the price can’t fix.

Another issue involves the tax on capital gains. Many agents are rather poor at understanding the ins and outs of tax consequences, as is the public in general. An old friend wanted to pick my brain before he went to sell some rental units that he had inherited from his mother. He thought it unfair for an agent to charge about the same percentage commission on a particularly valuable property as on a fairly small house. I told him that first off, it’s a lot more work marketing a tenant-occupied apartment building than it is to sell a nicely vacant single-family residence (SFR). Also, he would get about a 20% discount on the commission — as well as all other costs associated with the sale, which are deducted from his capital gain basis.

#3  Rents will NEVER come down.

No matter how little demand there is.

Oh, you sweet summer child. When demand has been low for a year or two, rental prices plummet, and those landlords who are not in a really solid place on the finances of the thing (mortgage + utilities + ongoing maintenance + taxes + savings against future large capital expenses) will end up losing it to the bank.

When we rented that lovely 1800 square foot house outside Frankfurt, Germany, we paid the first and last $1000 of the contracted amount, while Mr. Wife’s employer paid the rather large bit in the middle. When we left in 1994, during which time the majority of US military bases in Europe were closed, the rent the landlord was able to get was about a third less than our contract had listed. All the landlords near former American military bases in Europe were in the same pickle — there were significantly fewer potential renters, so prices dropped. The local renters were happy — the majority of German household live in rented accommodations, mostly apartments in multi-family buildings rather than single family houses, because that is all they can afford.

Incidentally, as illegals self-deport here in response to moves by the Trump administration, both rents and purchase prices will become more affordable at working class price points.

Europe
The ghost of the future is walking around Brussels
[American Thinker] Over the last month, we've seen an attack on Governor Josh Shapiro's home, the killing of a young couple in D.C., and now a Molotov cocktail thrown at people peacefully protesting. By the way, what do these incidents have in common? The targets are all Jewish and the guy in Boulder, Colorado somehow managed to get a work permit after his visa expired.

Where else is stuff like this happening? Let's check out Brussels, once a very traditional European city that tourists loved to visit. Well, check again because Brussels may be exhibit A of Europe’s disintegration and where uncontrolled immigration is running wild.

This is from Drieu Godefridi:

Brussels, the self-proclaimed capital of the European Union, is no longer the beacon of a united Europe, but an advanced symptom of its disintegration.

The normalization of radical Islamic and anti-Semitic discourse we are witnessing in Brussels is the result of 15 years of leaders abrogating their responsibility.
So many responsibilities abrogated, while the parties were unable to win national elections and pull together governing coalitions — at one point they went four years with caretaker governments, as I recall.
Brussels, through its inability --- or unwillingness -- to make unpleasant but necessary choices, is setting itself up as the first potential locus of protracted European unrest.

The Islamist Team Fouad Ahidar party embodies a new situation: a political Islam that no longer hides its identity. Instead, it advocates that a religious identity be the underpinning of national cohesion. This fragmentation reflects a profound breakdown in the social contract, between the old European society, which confines religion to the private sphere, and the "new Europeans" (Muslims), who want everything to be subject to their religious doctrine.

Crime rates are rising everywhere in Brussels, particularly in an area in the spotlight for its frequent shootings: the Bruxelles-Midi Zone (Saint-Gilles, Forest, Anderlecht). Between 2022 and 2023, notes the newspaper L'Echo, robberies and extortion rose by 23%, robberies without weapons by 34%, pickpocketing by 27%, and armed robberies by a staggering 53%.

Jew-hatred, often marketed in unconvincing, transparent disguises as "anti-Zionism," flourishes in many other Islamic-centered and radical left-wing circles.... in Brussels, Jew-hatred enjoys almost total impunity.

As of 2023, 74% of Brussels' population is of foreign background, compared to a European average of 10%... This demographic transformation or "great replacement," far from being accompanied by an effective integration policy, has saturated Brussels -- overcrowded schools, overwhelmed hospitals, sorely inadequate housing -- and exacerbated communal tensions.

In 2022, a report revealed that 35% of young people with an immigrant background in Brussels were living in households where nobody has a job -- a breeding ground for delinquency and radicalization.

Brussels is not only a city in crisis, it is a city on the brink of implosion.

Jew hatred? No kidding. It's more than that. It's what happens when societies don't reproduce and eventually have to bring in people to do the work. It makes matters worse when the new kid on the block doesn't respect your culture and is committed to undermine it. Chaos is the word.
I am profoundly grateful I got to live in Brussels back when it was still beautifully itself (if dirty — Belgians are absolutely not German (except maybe the German corner of the country, but they keep themselves to themselves)), and safe for a little Jewish-American housewife to wander through while running errands.

#1  "The great replacement" is an antiesemitic conspiracy theory.

Beware of this phrase when you ever see it uttered, it is a clear warning.
Here's what the Anti-Defamation League had to say in a letter to Fox News.
Last night, in a segment on his program dealing with voting rights and allegations of voter disenfranchisement, Tucker Carlson disgustingly gave an impassioned defense of the white supremacist “great replacement theory,” the hateful notion that the white race is in danger of being “replaced” by a rising tide of non-whites. While couching his argument in terms of what he described as the Democratic Party attempting to replace traditional voters with immigrants from third-world countries, Carlson’s rhetoric was not just a dog whistle to racists – it was a bullhorn.

Make no mistake: this is dangerous stuff. The “great replacement theory” is a classic white supremacist trope that undergirds the modern white supremacist movement in America. It is a concept that is discussed almost daily in online racist fever swamps. It is a notion that fueled the hateful chants of “Jews will not replace us!” in Charlottesville in 2017. And it has lit the fuse in explosive hate crimes, most notably the hate-motivated mass shooting attacks in Pittsburgh, Poway and El Paso, as well as in Christchurch, New Zealand.

#2  t was shocking to hear this kind of open-ended endorsement of white supremacist ideology from an anchor and commentator on your network. At ADL, we believe in dialogue and giving people a chance to redeem themselves, but Carlson’s full-on embrace of the white supremacist replacement theory on yesterday’s show and his repeated allusions to racist themes in past segments are a bridge too far.

Given his long record of race-baiting, we believe it is time for Carlson to go.

I’m available at any time to discuss this matter further and look forward to your timely response.

Sincerely,

Jonathan A. Greenblatt

#4  Fisk incoming:

ADL pronouncements need to be taken with a grain of salt and a good deal of independent research, and therefore quoting them as an authority must be done exceedingly selectively. This is definitely not one of the times when their position is in any way determinative. Especially given that Mr. Greenblatt came to the ADL by way of the Obama White House, where he gloried in the title of President Obama’s Special Assistant.

The Great Replacement Theory is a long-proven goal of the Progressive governing elites, who strongly prefer their lumpenproletariat to be a good deal more docile and a great deal less independent, and can be depended on to call anything that makes them look bad a conspiracy theory, especially if — as so often has proved in recent years — it is true. Sometimes a cigar is used to light dynamite in addition to causing mouth, throat, and lung cancers. In this case, long before America’s white population would be replaced, her African-Americans would be, a fact that the male half of that segment is increasingly angry about — and turning to Donald Trump and the Republicans to remedy.

t was shocking to hear this kind of open-ended endorsement of white supremacist ideology from an anchor and commentator on your network.

Oddly enough, it has been quite a number of years since Mr. Carlson left Fox News and went independent — during COVID? — so the Progressive Mr. Greenblatt was responding to something that happened long ago, and may well be superseded by his philosophical evolution. I never followed him myself, preferring to get my information in written form, but as Rantburgers haven’t brought one of his interviews to our attention for quite some time, I have to assume that he no longer appeals strongly to our crowd.

It is a notion that fueled the hateful chants of “Jews will not replace us!” in Charlottesville in 2017.

We watched that protest here in real time — the articles can easily be found in Rantburg’s voluminous archives. What Mr. Greenblatt neglected to mention — given that his boss started out as an Antifa organizer, it’s highly likely to have been a subject of high fives in the West Wing private offices — is that there was a large contingent of Antifa there, so the odds are high that the chant Mr. Greenblatt objected to, assuming that was actually what was said rather than “You will not replace us,” which makes more sense in context, was being screeched by the Black Bloc there. See one After Action Report from our archives here.

#5  And then there’s this suggestion the whole thing was a false flag activity., also from the Rantburg archives. I could go on, but you will be better convinced if you do your own work.

Terror Networks
Sanctuary States, Sleeper Cells, and a Nation on the Brink
[Townhall] Last week, in what is being called the largest-ever ICE enforcement operation, nearly 1,500 illegal foreign nationals were arrested—most of them hiding in so-called "sanctuary" jurisdictions. That’s not just a number. That’s a blunt warning: there are thousands more just like them—living, working, and perhaps plotting among us, thanks to open-border ideologues and their enablers in blue-state leadership.

These weren’t friendly tourists who overstayed a visa to see the Statue of Liberty one more time. These were criminal aliens—some with convictions for rape, murder, kidnapping, and terror-related charges. They were swept up in Democrat-run strongholds like California, Illinois, and New York, where the local governments actively thwart federal immigration enforcement.

Let that sink in: Your government is risking your life to score cheap political points.

The operation was described as a "major success" by top Homeland Security officials under Secretary Kristi Noem, who has brought a radically different tone and urgency to the department since taking over. Unlike her predecessor Alejandro Mayorkas—who presided over record-setting illegal crossings and national security apathy—Noem has made it clear: illegal entry will not be ignored, and criminal aliens will not be protected by politics.

But the deeper question lingers like a storm cloud over our national security: Is it enough?

Columbia protestor had direct link to Hamas' deadly al-Qassam Brigades militant group: DOJ
[NY Post] A "Jew hater" who protested against Israel on Columbia University’s campus and contemplated setting a student on fire allegedly had a direct link to Hamas’ deadly al-Qassam Brigades militant group, The Post can reveal.

Tarek Bazrouk — currently awaiting trial charged indicted on three federal hate crimes against Jewish people — was "a member of a chat group that received regular updates from Abu Obeida," the official spokesperson for the brigades, according to allegations in federal documents.

The accusation is the first evidence of an agitator receiving information directly from Hamas and taking action during protests on the University campus.

Bazrouk, 20, who was not a Columbia student, also frequently wore the green headband used by Hamas terrorists and boasted to friends about having relatives overseas who were part of the terror group, prosecutors claim in a court filed letter.

While on Columbia’s campus during protests in April 2024, Bazrouk allegedly texted a pal saying he lit a flare and considered lighting someone on fire, but that there were "too many" people around for him to take on, otherwise he "would’ve hurted (sic) them."

Bazrouk, a US citizen born and raised in New York, was also arrested next to the campus in December 2024 for one of the three attacks against Jewish people he stands accused of.

It is not clear how Bazrouk got on campus, which is private university property, but Columbia was beset with anti-Israel protesters shielded by masks throughout 2024, resulting in the NYPD being called to flush them out in April that year.

Depo-Provera's Alleged Link to Brain Tumors Should Make You Wonder What's in Your Birth Control
[Restoring Liberty] Corporate media often smear birth control skeptics for believing "misinformation" about the harms synthetic hormones can have on women’s bodies and minds. A flurry of nearly 300 lawsuits from females alleging that the popular "safe and effective" birth control shot Depo-Provera played a role in their development of brain and spine tumors, however, suggests women should question the effects of any drug sold to them — especially those designed to prevent pregnancy.

Upjohn Company, one of Pfizer’s acquisitions, debuted the birth control shot in the 1950s. Upon injection, the synthetic progestoerone cocktail is supposed to suppress ovulation and prevent pregnancy in women for up to three months at a time.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration initially approved the drug for limited contraceptive use in 1974. Widespread concern about cancer risks, however, forced the FDA to deny it a "general marketing licence" just four years later in 1978.

By 1992, however, the FDA had rubber-stamped Depo-Provera, which was increasingly prescribed to women off-label as birth control under the condition that its manufacturer would conduct "post-market studies of the risk of osteoporosis."

It wasn’t until years after that Depo-Provera’s official label would disclose a warning about "loss of bone mineral density" and recommend less than two years’ use.

Trump and GOP Take Aim at the ‘Judicial Coup'
[Patriot Post] If Tren de Aragua gang members aren’t "alien enemies" of the United States, aren’t able to be deported by the American president under the ancient Alien Enemies Act, then language itself has lost its meaning. But that’s the world we’re living in.

In a way, it shouldn’t surprise us. The Left, after all, has been at war with the language — and at war with reality — for decades. Indeed, they insist that men can become pregnant, that women can only be described by biologists, that pedophiles are merely minor-attracted persons, and that last year’s version of Joe Biden was the best Biden ever.

Nor should the current judicial war against Donald Trump surprise any of us. All throughout his first term, Trump and his agenda were sabotaged from within by entrenched deep-state leftists and by old-guard establishment Republicans. In this second term, though, with Trump having remade the Republican Party and having cleaned up the executive branch, the attacks are coming from without — from the third and supposedly coequal branch of government that Thomas Jefferson once presciently warned could become despotic: the judicial branch.

Since his inauguration, Trump has been busy trying to unscrew the mess bequeathed him by four years of the Autopen Presidency, but he’s been opposed at nearly every turn — from mass-deporting illegal aliens to ending birthright citizenship to trimming down our grotesquely bloated federal government to imposing tariffs on predatory trading partners — by lower-court judges and, in some cases, by the very Supreme Court justices that he nominated for the bench.

Migrants In The UK Are Receiving £1 Billion Per Month In Welfare Benefits: Report
[Modernity] Migrant households are siphoning almost £1 billion in welfare benefits every month in Britain, a report has claimed.

The Telegraph highlights government figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) which reveal that registered households with at least one foreign national in March received £941 million in universal credit.

The welfare scheme allows low-income or unemployed people in Britain to claim government subsidies.

It’s hardly surprising given the massive increase in mass migration to the country under the so called Conservative government.

2023 saw migration climb to a record of 906,000. The latest data shows that 948,000 people came to Britain in 2024.

Migrants are eligible to apply for universal credit as soon as they acquire residential or refugee status in the Britain.

The report notes, however, that the total cost to the taxpayer of foreigners is way higher, when healthcare, education, and housing are factored in.

A recent study conducted by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) discovered that housing asylum seekers, a great deal of whom are in the country illegally, has increased to approximately £4.7 billion a year.

'Forced Mixing' Housing Plan To Integrate Migrants Pushed By Sweden's Social Democrats
[ZERO] The Swedish Social Democratic Party has approved a new integration strategy that aims to forcibly diversify the country’s residential areas, pushing for what party officials call a "socio-economic mix" of Swedes and migrants in housing developments.

The policy, adopted at the party congress ahead of the 2026 general election, includes proposals to limit immigration to vulnerable areas and to use housing construction to engineer a more integrated society.

Chaos in Minneapolis as sweeping police raid descends into violence
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Activists have clashed with federal officials in crazed scenes on the streets of Minneapolis after people apparently mistook a criminal investigation for an ICE raid.
Black Bloc/Antifa - Hispanic version getting jiggy, as they used to say.
Photographs show protestors outside a taco restaurant shouting at government agents in military-style vehicles, and in some cases launching objects at them.

Twin Cities Mayor Jacob Frey said the law enforcement operation at Las Cuatro Milpas restaurant in south Minneapolis on Tuesday was 'not related to immigration'.

However, city council member Jason Chavez said authorities had 'tried to lie about an ICE presence', claiming that the immigration officials were also at the scene.

Mayor Frey said in a statement: 'I am aware of the operation federal agencies carried out earlier today near Lake and Bloomington.

'While we are still gathering details, this incident was related to a criminal search warrant for drugs and money laundering and was not related to immigration enforcement. No arrests were made.'

The Minneapolis Police Department said the conflict escalated so much that some of their officers were also dispatched to assist with crowd control.

'After a federal law enforcement operation was already underway, a crowd began to form, and MPD officers arrived to ensure the crowd and the surrounding area remained safe,' the department said on X.

'A federal criminal search warrant for drugs and money laundering was executed today in the area of Lake St & Bloomington Ave. Multiple federal agencies were involved.

'There were no arrests at the scene by federal law enforcement executing the search warrant.'

'MPD was NOT involved in any immigration enforcement activities today, nor were we given advance notice of any such operation,' the department added.

Minneapolis council member Jason Chavez claimed that the authorities were lying about there being no ICE agents on the scene, while sharing photographs of officers wearing ICE badges on X.

'They tried lie about an ICE presence. MPD assisted with closing off the area. This is completely wrong. Hennepin County Sheriffs have been helping too,' Chavez wrote.

A witness told CBS affiliate WCCO News that some activists hurled objects onto Lake Street in an attempt to obstruct a military-style vehicle.

The organization COPAL (Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Acción Latina) said its members came to the scene 'to ensure that constitutional rights and legal due process are respected.'

'In situations like the enforcement today, it's important that there are signed warrants in place, the right to peaceful assembly is protected, and that no Minnesotan, no human being is treated as 'collateral,'' COPAL's Ryan Perez said in a statement.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Washington Post admits to faulty reporting on claim that Israel killed dozens of Gazan civilians at aide site
See what the IDF reports happened here, which includes the AyPee’s refusal to apologize for getting the story wrong, WaPo-style..
[FoxNews] Post admits initial article didn't meet newspaper's fairness standards, issues correction.
“Yeah, guess we are lying Jew-haters who gladly fall for the truthy instead of doing the due diligence required by ethical journalists and editors. But really, who can blame us, given what those Nazi-Jews are like. *shrug* Ya caught us — our bad.”
The Washington Post admitted Tuesday that a claim in its recent report that Israeli soldiers killed dozens of civilians in Gaza could not be verified.

The outlet shared a post on X stating it had updated its Sunday article to reflect that it could not verify that Israeli troops killed around 30 civilians near a U.S. aid site in Gaza. The previous version of the piece reported that the Israeli military had committed the killings.

"The article and headline were updated on Sunday evening making it clear that there was no consensus about who was responsible for the shootings and that there was a dispute over that question," the outlet’s social media post read.

At least 26 Palestinians were reportedly killed and some 175 were wounded over the weekend as they made their way to receive food in the Gaza Strip, according to officials from the Hamas-run health ministry and witnesses.

Witnesses said Israeli forces fired on crowds around 1,000 yards away from an aid site run by the Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). A Palestinian journalist told the BBC that thousands of Palestinians had gathered near the aid site near Gaza's southern city of Rafah when Israeli tanks approached and opened fire on the crowd.

However, the IDF has disputed these allegations, saying they are "currently unaware of injuries caused by IDF fire within the Humanitarian Aid distribution site," adding that "the matter is still under review."
There is video of men in civilian clothes shooting from within the crowd at a distribution site neither guarded by the IDF nor connected to GHF, suggesting it was either Hamas or other Gazans who dunnit, whatever it was. And yes, Hama Health Ministry numbers can end up very far from anything close to reality — it’s all grist for the Holy Propaganda Mill.
"It is false and fabricated. All aid was distributed today without incident," the GHF said. "No injuries or fatalities as noted in our daily update sent out earlier. We have heard that these fake reports have been actively fomented by Hamas. They are untrue and fabricated."

However, as an editor’s note in the updated Washington Post piece said, The Post had reported on Sunday that "Israeli troops had killed more than 30 people near a U.S. aid site, with the headline attributing the action to ‘health officials.’"

"The article failed to make clear if attributing the deaths to Israel was the position of the Gaza health ministry or a fact verified by The Post," the note read.

The body of the updated piece reported the casualties, but this time, did not blame the IDF. It said, "At least 31 people were killed and another 170 wounded, most of them with gunshot wounds to the extremities and upper body, according to local health officials and medics who treated the victims."

"While three witnesses said the gunfire came from Israeli military positions, the Israel Defense Forces denied the allegations, saying in a statement that an initial inquiry indicated that its soldiers did not fire at civilians while they were near or within the distribution site," the new piece added.

The editor’s note confirmed that "The article and headline were updated on Sunday evening and for the print edition on Monday making it clear that there was no consensus about who was responsible for the shooting and that there was a dispute over that question."

It added, "The Post didn’t give proper weight to Israel’s denial and gave improper certitude about what was known about any Israeli role in the shootings. The early versions fell short of Washington Post standards of fairness and should not have been published in that form."

Reps for The Washington Post did not immediately reply to Fox News Digital's request for additional comment.

'Thousands' of South African Refugees to [MAY] Arrive in U.S. by End of Summer
Here’s hoping. They’re the kind of educated, hard working, self-starters this country will benefit from, and they will properly appreciate all this country is instead of trying to turn it into the homeland they came from.
[Breitbart] “Thousands” of white South African refugees may be in the United States by the end of the summer as massive amounts of applications from Afrikaners — an ethnic minority in the country — continue to pour in, the Daily Caller reported.

A U.S. Department of State official told the outlet on Friday that the Trump administration is hoping to take in many more than the small group of 59 Afrikaners that arrived in Washington, DC, last month.

“We won’t be talking about dozens of arrivals, but hundreds and perhaps thousands,” the official said. While they did not specify an exact time frame, the official added that “we’ll start to massively scale this up” towards the “second half of summer.”

Referring to a backlog of more than 50,000 applications for refugee status from Afrikaners, who frequently face political and racial violence in their home country, the official added that this number will “continue to rise.”

As the first group of a few dozen Afrikaners was welcomed into the U.S. by the State Department on May 12, President Donald Trump blasted the establishment media for refusing to cover the “genocide” taking place against white farmers in South Africa.

“It’s a genocide that’s taking place that you people don’t want to write about, but it’s a terrible thing that’s taking place, and farmers are being killed,” Trump told reporters in the White House. “They happen to be white, but whether they’re white or black makes no difference to me.”

“But white farmers are being brutally killed, and their land is being confiscated in South Africa, and the newspapers and the media — television media — doesn’t even talk about it,” he continued. “If it were the other way around, they’d talk about it. That would be the only story they’d talk about.”

According to the State Department official, every Afrikaner who has been granted refugee status in the U.S. thus far “has demonstrated a persecution claim.”

“People have suffered attacks on their farms that were racially motivated,” they explained.

Despite the allegations of persecution against white people in his country, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has repeatedly insisted that they are not victims, Breitbart News reported.

“They are leaving because they don’t want to embrace the changes taking place in our country in accordance with our Constitution,” Ramaphosa claimed soon after news broke of the first group of refugees.

Speaking to reporters a short while later, the president called the refugees “cowardly” for “running away.”

Ramaphosa even went so far as to defend violent political chants calling to “Kill the Boer” and to “Kill the Farmer,” arguing that his country simply values “freedom of expression.”

Boulder city council member refuses to sign statement condemning firebombing, since it doesn’t say ‘anti-Zionist’
[IsraelTimes] A member of the Boulder, Colorado, city council refuses to sign onto a statement condemning the firebombing attack against a rally for Israeli hostages because it calls the attack antisemitic, and not anti-Zionist.

“I could not sign into the joint letter because my request to add the anti-Zionist to the antisemitism attack sentence or the word anywhere in the document was denied,” council member Taishya Adams writes on Facebook.

“I cannot sign a letter that equates the calls for a ‘Free Palestine’ with antisemitism. Without the anti-Zionist part, the reader will fail to understand a key driver of this terrible attack,” she writes. “Also, the perpetrator, whose actions I condemn fully and that resulted in harm to our community members, was explicit about ending Zionism.”

The US city’s statement calls the firebombing a “targeted, antisemitic attack.”

“We cannot – and will not – allow antisemitism to become normalized here,” the statement says.

Adams is the “sister city liaison” between Boulder and the Palestinian West Bank city of Nablus.
Oh?

The ugly truth is that their behavior is somewhat subdued not because of the attack but because the attack was only mildly successful.

In an honor shame culture being victimized is inherently shameful and successfully victimizing others brings honor.

If 10/7 had been a normal terror attack killing 10-20 Israelis and residents the political fallout would have been minuscule.

10/7 and 9/11 emboldened and strengthened them.

Norway fund’s ethics body reviews Israeli bank stakes over West Bank settler loans
[IsraelTimes] The ethics watchdog for Norway’s $1.9 trillion wealth fund is scrutinizing Israeli banks’ practice of underwriting Israeli settlers’ housebuilding commitments in the West Bank, in a review that could prompt up to $500 million in divestments.

The Council on Ethics, a public body set up by Norway’s Finance Ministry, has, however, decided not to object to the Fund’s investments in accommodation platforms such as Airbnb that offer rentals in the Jewish settlements.

The body checks that firms in the portfolio of the world’s largest wealth fund meet ethical guidelines set by Norway’s parliament.

In an interview with Reuters on May 22, Council head Svein Richard Brandtzaeg said it was examining how Israeli banks offer guarantees that protect Israeli settlers’ money if the company building their home in the West Bank should fold.

Other practices are also being looked at “but this is what we can see so far,” he said. “That is what is well documented.” He declined to say how long the review would take.

Brandtzaeg did not name the banks but, at the end of 2024, the fund owned about 5 billion crowns ($500 million) in shares in the five largest Israeli lenders, up 62% in 12 months, according to the latest data.

The banks – Hapoalim, Bank Leumi, Israel Discount Bank, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank and First International Bank of Israel – did not answer requests for comment.

Since 2020, they have been included in a list of companies with ties to settlements in the Palestinian territories compiled by a UN mission assessing the implications for Palestinian rights.

Report: Syria’s Sharaa will address UN General Assembly in New York in September
[IsraelTimes] Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will visit New York in September to participate in the United Nations General Assembly, according to Sky News Arabic.

Reports of Sharaa’s intention to address the UN have emerged in Arabic-language media in recent weeks.

This would mark the first time a Syrian president has addressed the UN since June 1967, when Nureddin al-Atassi did so after Israel’s victory in the Six Day War.

Israel initially dismissed the prospect of constructive interaction with Sharaa, a former leader in Syria’s local al-Qaeda branch who has been branded a terrorist by Jerusalem.

After US President Donald Trump met with Sharaa and agreed to ease sanctions, Israel’s approach has shifted, including holding secret talks with Syrian officials.

Chinese scholar at UM tried to smuggle biological pathogen into the U.S., feds say
[DETROITNEWS] Federal agents have arrested a University of Michigan scholar from China on charges she tried to smuggle a biological pathogen into the United States characterized as a potential agricultural terrorism

weapon that can be used for targeting food crops.

The FBI counterintelligence case against UM scholar Yunqing Jian, 33, and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Zunyong Liu, was unsealed in federal court in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit
... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang...
on Tuesday and marks the second time in less than a week a Chinese national with ties to the university has been charged with federal crimes.

On Friday, prosecutors unsealed a criminal case against a former University of Michigan Chinese student who voted illegally in the 2024 election, saying he fled the U.S. to avoid prosecution.

Jian is a citizen of China who received a doctorate degree in plant pathogens from Zhejiang University, and Sherlocks say they have discovered information describing her membership in and loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party. Prosecutors say she received money from a Chinese foundation funded largely by the Chinese government to conduct post-doctoral work, including research on a fungus known as Fusarium graminearum, a biological pathogen that can cause devastating diseases in crops.

Prosecutors say her boyfriend illegally smuggled a biological pathogen into the U.S. at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport on July 27.

"When Customs and Border Protection officers questioned Liu, he made false statements to CBP officers about the purpose of his visit to the United States, and his knowledge of the existence of the biological pathogen in his possession," an FBI special agent wrote in the criminal filing.

"Ultimately, Liu admitted to smuggling the pathogen and stated that he brought the pathogen into the United States so that he could conduct research on it at a laboratory at the University of Michigan where his girlfriend, Jian, worked," the agent added.

Fusarium graminearum is a strain of a plant pathogen that causes ''head blight,'' according to the criminal case, a disease that can devastate wheat, barley, maize and rice.

Courtesy of Yunqing Jian, 33, and Zunyong Liu, 34, citizens of the People’s Republic of China, were charged in a criminal complaint with conspiracy, smuggling goods into the United States, false statements, and visa fraud, announced United States Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr.

Gorgon was joined in the announcement by Special Agent in Charge Cheyvoryea Gibson, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Detroit Division and Marty C. Raybon, Director of Field Operations, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The FBI arrested Jian in connection with allegations related to Jian’s and Liu’s smuggling into America a fungus called Fusarium graminearum, which scientific literature classifies as a potential agroterrorism weapon. This noxious fungus causes “head blight,” a disease of wheat, barley, maize, and rice, and is responsible for billions of dollars in economic losses worldwide each year. Fusarium graminearum’s toxins cause vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects in humans and livestock.

According to the complaint, Jian received Chinese government funding for her work on this pathogen in China. The complaint also alleges that Jian’s electronics contain information describing her membership in and loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party. It is further alleged that Jian’s boyfriend, Liu, works at a Chinese university where he conducts research on the same pathogen and that he first lied but then admitted to smuggling Fusarium graminearum into America—through the Detroit Metropolitan Airport—so that he could conduct research on it at the laboratory at the University of Michigan where his girlfriend, Jian, worked.

United States Attorney Gorgon stated: “The alleged actions of these Chinese nationals—including a loyal member of the Chinese Communist Party—are of the gravest national security concerns. These two aliens have been charged with smuggling a fungus that has been described as a ‘potential agroterrorism weapon’ into the heartland of America, where they apparently intended to use a University of Michigan laboratory to further their scheme.”

Puntland Forces Kill Over 35 ISIS Fighters in Major Offensive
[ShabelleMedia] Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
’s elite security forces killed more than 35 ISIS bully boys, including several imported muscle, during a major military operation in the mountainous rural areas between Miraale and Balade in Bari region on Tuesday, regional officials said.

Commanders leading the offensive presented the bodies of slain ISIS fighters to the media, stating that many of those killed were foreign nationals attempting to flee through rugged hideouts. Troops also destroyed weapons caches and military equipment used by the group.

The operation comes amid increased pressure on ISIS remnants in the region. The Balade Valley, located near the port city of Bosaso, is now believed to serve as a key regrouping point for the jihadist group, which has come under intense aerial and ground assaults in recent months.

This latest push follows a significant victory last week when Puntland forces captured the ISIS command center in Miraale Valley — a longtime strategic stronghold of the group.

Puntland authorities have escalated counterterrorism operations in the mountainous terrain of Bari, where ISIS has used the difficult geography to train, plan, and launch attacks over the years.

Officials say the ongoing offensive marks a renewed determination to dismantle ISIS networks in northeastern Somalia and restore lasting stability to the region.

'Died from a Binge.' How Six Thousand Corpses Can Move Ukraine's Policy
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Denis Davydov

[REGNUM] The Russian side's decision to hand over 6,000 bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen as a gesture of goodwill was an unexpected blow to the Ukrainian goal.

Zelensky couldn't even hold back and said out loud what was best kept to himself. "As far as I know, 15% of those 6,000 were identified, it's very important to check everything, all of ours must be taken. However, we already had one moment when they handed over bodies and there they handed over, including the bodies of their own dead Russian soldiers," he said, laying down a maneuver to avoid responsibility in advance.
Alinky’s Rule #4: Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.
Because the "humanitarian action" entails large-scale political problems. Especially since the MP from Poroshenko's "European Solidarity" Sofia Fedyna got busy, immediately announcing that it was mainly those who died in the Kursk region that were being transferred from Russia.

And this is a blow to the reputation of Zelensky, who in February 2025 stated that “we have a little more than 46 thousand dead soldiers and there are still tens of thousands missing and in captivity.”

Six thousand at once and only from one region - this is immediate noise in the press, many times more families going crazy, hoping to find their loved one, stories of the dead, unflattering revelations of the participants in the events and, of course, the need to resolve the issue of monetary compensation.

15 million hryvnia for each dead person is almost 10% of Ukraine's military budget for the entire current year, or 90 billion hryvnia. Given that, as deputies previously reported, there is already a deficit of 200 billion hryvnia in funds for the army. And the Russian side can theoretically transfer several thousand dead after each meeting.

However, the “cunning plan” regarding the excessive burden on the Ukrainian budget will not work.

Even 15% of those identified are a reason for doubt, because "Russia cannot be trusted." And for the rest, the identification procedure could drag on for a very long time, since many families of Ukrainian servicemen whose deaths have been established still cannot receive their millions.

A huge bureaucratic machine is working for this, diligently breaking any attempts to squeeze money out of the state. The sudden arrival of refrigerated cars with corpses will aggravate not financial problems, but moral and psychological ones, since all this demonstrates Ukraine's attitude to its soldiers.

And this circumstance will work, creating a real domestic political problem, pressing on the authorities' sore spot. Let's go through it in order.

AMOUNT OF PAYMENTS
In accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the state pays two amounts to the families of deceased servicemen: 15 million and 2.271 million UAH. The first payment is provided for those who died directly during combat operations, but according to the law, only 20% of the amount is paid immediately, and the rest is paid in parts over three years.

To receive it, it is necessary to have an extract from the order of the military unit and the personal file of the deceased.

The payment of 2.271 million is due to those who died in service, but not in combat. So, depending on the calculation method, the final amount varies greatly. In addition, it matters whether the soldier died from illness, suicide, alcohol poisoning, self-inflicted gunshot, or other reasons - you can indicate anything and deprive yourself of payments.

And this immediately creates a field for discontent and conflict - with its transfer to the public plane.

RECOGNITION OF DEATH
Even if we assume that the families of 15% of the identified VSEU employees will immediately begin to process the documents, this does not mean that their enterprise will be successful.

As follows from the previous point, the command of military units must provide a package of necessary documents upon request from territorial recruitment and social support centers (TRC and SP, former military registration and enlistment offices). And this takes, as the secretariat of the Ukrainian ombudsman points out, six months.

At the same time, the unit may already be disbanded, and its documents transferred to another unit - such precedents exist. One of the Ukrainian publications cites the example of Andrey Glembotsky, whose wife has been running around the authorities for a year and a half, since the military unit where the archive of his no longer existing unit is stored is not authorized to issue extracts.

In addition, it turned out that the fact of his service was not recorded.

"The command of the unit where Andrei ended up was in no hurry to register them, to include them in the lists. It is not known on what grounds they were issued weapons and ammunition, on what grounds they were sent on combat missions," cries the wife, whose time is running out - the law allows three years for all cases, and the trial, which must establish the necessary facts, can last even longer.

Now we can multiply all this by six thousand and add to this the problems with proving kinship: many have unofficial wives, some have adoptive parents, some have children with a different surname.

And if the child was born after the father's death, he cannot receive financial assistance, since he was not a member of his family. And this only multiplies the grievances.

FACTUAL DOCUMENTATION OF CRIMES
When the Ukrainian Armed Forces invaded the Kursk region in August 2024, the Ukrainian parliament had to give permission to use the army outside the country based on an appeal from the president.

But he didn’t give it, since there was no such request.

Only in January of this year, a law was passed stipulating that “during the period of martial law, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine may be located abroad to ensure security, defense, and repel aggression against Ukraine in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.”

And the law, as we know, has no retroactive effect. That is, for almost half a year, according to their own Ukrainian laws, the servicemen were in an unknown place, on an unknown basis and by whose order. Consequently, the entry in the documents about the death in the Kursk region is a personal documentation of a war crime.

Naturally, Zelensky immediately refused to believe that they were giving his own people to him. And in the end it may turn out that five brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces went to a neighboring country on their own initiative and died there from a hangover, for which no one should be held responsible.

So the only way for families is to confirm the fact of death through the court based on the testimony of witnesses, as did the family of another serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexey Rubtsov, who died in Donbas. After that, they managed to obtain a death certificate and begin the long journey through the authorities.

"Collecting documents is a torment. You think that the worst has already happened, and then problems with these numerous certificates appear. Sometimes it feels like you are trying to get money out of the pockets of the employees of those institutions. And no one gives any deadlines. I am not rushing anyone now, I understand that the money is needed at the front more than I do. But now there is a war, and many people do not have the opportunity to wait long," his wife Irina tells the press.

According to her, one of the biggest problems is the duplication of certificates: they are issued for each family member separately, and each one must apply for it separately. And there are no time limits for the response - they can respond for up to a year.

And this is without the procedure of identifying bodies by DNA analysis, which will take away kilometers of nerves and the last of people’s health.

All this naturally raises the question: what was all this for? "Why did the guys die?" Why does the state mock families like that? Then, the awareness of the simple fact that Ukraine treats people like expendable material - like bullets or toilet paper - will inevitably grow and strengthen.

That hundreds of thousands of young men gave their lives for the right of their families to endure poverty and endless humiliation - without any prospect of seeing justice and a decent life.

And if this is further explained in different ways, such awareness will produce political consequences that are much more impressive than exhortations.

'Cowards Who Betrayed Palestine': Greta Thunberg Goes Full Sail to Gaza
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Leonid Tsukanov

[REGNUM] Volunteers and humanitarians are challenging the Israeli authorities. The well-known European confederation of NGOs, the Freedom Flotilla, has announced the dispatch of a new vessel to the shores of blockaded Gaza. And this time, on board are not ordinary pro-Palestinian activists, but celebrities, well-known volunteers and politicians.

However, even such a “star ship” does not guarantee that the Israelis will abandon their previous strategy.

Quite the opposite: under the close attention of the international community, Tel Aviv is not ready to give in to weakness.

HUMANITARIAN FLEET
The International Confederation of Volunteer Organizations "Freedom Flotilla" was created in 2010. Although its founders prefer to count the years since 2006, when Israel imposed a partial blockade on the Gaza Strip.

The Flotilla considers its first successful mission to be the breakthrough of the blockade of the ships Freedom and Free Gaza, which arrived in the enclave at the end of August 2008 with a cargo of building materials, fuel and food products.

Today, the coalition includes about twenty foundations and non-profit associations from Canada, Italy, Spain, Malaysia, New Zealand, Brazil, Sweden, South Africa and Turkey.

Recently, French and Norwegian NGOs have also joined the Flotilla.

Throughout the history of the project, the activists' missions have been predominantly symbolic.

Flotilla representatives reported from the Gaza Strip, visited hospitals and educational institutions in the enclave, and organized video conferences with local residents and representatives of Palestinian factions, including some moderate Hamas commanders.

The humanitarian aid they brought, although inferior in volume to that supplied on behalf of the UN and other international organizations, still made it possible to cover some of the primary needs of the residents.

According to the Flotilla auditors, during the project’s existence, activists equipped several hundred small-tonnage vessels and collected about 25 thousand tons of various humanitarian aid.

A significant part of it, however, was detained by Israeli police and was unable to reach the shores of the enclave.

The first missions of the Flotilla really did evoke a lively response from the population of European countries.

And the incident with the attack by the Shayetet 13 special forces (naval commandos) on a humanitarian convoy in 2010, which claimed the lives of dozens of activists, is something that Israel prefers not to remember at all.

SECOND BIRTH
However, as time went on – and as the blockade around Gaza tightened – the humanitarian operations began to yield less and less results. The missions that took place during the active phase of fighting in the enclave (2023–2025) were not crowned with success.

Moreover, due to the high risk of becoming an accidental target of Israeli aircraft, the movement in 2024 temporarily shifted its activities to conducting political actions in Europe.

Naturally, such a sharp change in positioning did not have the best effect on the reputation of the Flotilla, nor on the volume of donations it received.

Some patrons who had worked with the activists for years broke off contact, accusing them of cowardice and betrayal of the Palestinians. By early 2025, the movement had almost completely dropped out of the news.

However, by summer, the activists suddenly reminded us of themselves. On June 1, the ship Maldin, the flagship of the Flotilla, left the Italian port of Catania. There were many celebrities on board.

Among them are environmental activist Greta Thunberg, who has taken on the role of “spokesperson” for the Palestinian issue in recent years, French MEP Rima Hassan, Irish actor Liam Cunningham and others.

In many ways, the vessel's departure was a response to the "maritime intimidation" of May 2025. At that time, an activist ship heading to Gaza was attacked in neutral waters near Malta by drones of unknown origin.

Although the perpetrators of the attack could not be identified, both Thunberg and her colleagues placed the blame on Tel Aviv.

ISRAEL IS SILENT
Flotilla activists have already recorded several video messages to the Israeli leadership, and supporters of the expedition have literally flooded the official social networks of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his associates with tags and reposts.

Israel, however, maintains absolute silence both at the civil and military levels. Even the most ardent "hawks", who previously never missed an opportunity to speak out in defense of the actions of official Tel Aviv, do not comment on the intention of European activists to "break through" to Gaza.

This silence is causing serious concern for the UN. The Israeli side has not given public guarantees that it will allow the ship to enter Gaza and will not take hostile actions against the activists. The risk of a repeat of the 2010 crisis has increased many times over.

It is not surprising that at the moment when the ship had covered about half of its journey and reached the territorial waters of Greece, the UN issued an appeal to official Tel Aviv, asking it to refrain from violent actions. However, the Israelis ignored it as well.

There are about two days left before the Maldin is scheduled to arrive in Gaza. And there is still hope that the Israelis will not dare to attack the ship.

Moreover, there are not just ordinary activists on board, but celebrities and current parliamentarians. Applying “anti-terrorism regulations” to them will be problematic.

On the other hand, given previous incidents – such as the shooting by an army patrol towards a diplomatic delegation in the West Bank in late May – fame and political immunity seem like a dubious tool of deterrence, especially when it comes to maintaining the long-standing blockade of Gaza.

Israeli "hawks" are convinced that if they give in and allow humanitarian aid into the enclave by sea, this will give Hamas a chance to strengthen its influence over the remaining residents of Gaza. And at the same time, it will multiply the duration of the military operation. And therefore, its costs.

Kenya’s Elite Troops Kill Al-Shabaab Militants in Operation Near Somalia Border
[Garowe] Elite forces from Kenya's Special Operations Group (SOG) neutralized at least four al-Shabaab

bully boyz in Garissa, an official said, signalling endless cooperation in the fight against the group, which controls large swathes of rural central and southern regions of Somalia.

According to intelligence reports, the bully boyz were neutralized at Najo and Guracho areas in Garissa County, following a fierce shootout with the Special Operations Group, managing to down the fighters.

The success followed a meticulously planned intelligence-led operation. The bully boyz were first spotted by a surveillance drone, after which SOG units tracked and engaged them, intelligence reports indicate, highlighting the government's commitment to stabilizing the region.

A fierce exchange of fire ensued, resulting in four Lions of Islam being eliminated. Recovered at the scene were AK-47 rifles, a PKM machine gun, multiple rounds of ammunition, and communication radios, officials said in a report filed by the County security team.

"This marks yet another major victory in a series of well-coordinated operations that continue to cripple al-Shabaab activity," the team said. "The SOG, in close collaboration with other security agencies and the local community, remains unwavering in its mission to safeguard the lives and security of Kenyans."

Kenya has been fighting bully boyz along the border for two decades, and the recent elevation of Wajir Air Base to a full-fledged base and the equipping of Modika Barracks have greatly influenced victories against al-Shabaab, thanks to the quick response by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

The KDF is also establishing several Forward Operating Bases in the region, part of a strategy aimed at enhancing security awareness and operational success. The KDF also participates in the African Union

Trump opens bombshell investigation into ageing Biden's final days in office that could put former president's family behind bars
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Donald Trump has opened an investigation into whether Joe Biden 'was competent' when he used an autopen to issue lame-duck pardons to family members and death row inmates.
According to Jake Tapper’s report of the investigations on which he based his book, President Biden was not.
Ed Martin - Trump's ultra-MAGA pardon attorney - said the Justice Department has been directed to investigate clemency granted by Biden in the waning days of his presidency, including the December pardon of his troubled son Hunter.

Martin's unprecedented probe was revealed in a Monday email to staffers that was obtained by Reuters. The attorney said the investigation involves whether Biden 'was competent and whether others were taking advantage of him through use of AutoPen or other means.'

An autopen is a device used to automatically affix a signature to a document.

Hunter Biden, who was convicted last year of three felonies over an illegal gun, and the former First Lady Jill Biden have been accused of wielding significant power over the president in his final days. The prodigal son was treated 'like a chief of staff' despite being 'provably, demonstrably unethical, sleazy and prone to horrible decisions,' CNN's Jake Tapper said in a recent interview about the behind-the-scenes health cover-up.

Trump and his supporters have made a variety of claims that Biden's use of autopen invalidated his actions because he was unaware of the orders he was signing.

It is not known whether Biden used an autopen for pardons. In March, Trump declared his predecessor's last-minute pardons 'void, vacant and of no further force or effect.' He also warned that members of the House committee investigating the January 6 riots could now face prosecution.

The email stated that Martin's investigation is focused on preemptive pardons Biden issued to several members of his family and clemency that spared 37 federal inmates from the death penalty, converting their sentences to life in prison. Just before he relinquished the presidency to Trump on January 20, Biden pardoned five members of his family, saying he wanted to protect them from future politically motivated investigations. The pardons went to Biden's siblings James Biden, Frank Biden and Valerie Biden Owens as well as their spouses, John Owens and Sara Biden.

Biden on December 1 pardoned his son Hunter Biden, who had pleaded guilty to tax violations and was convicted on firearms-related charges. Hunter faced up to 25 years in prison for the offences, although was expected to receive a much lighter punishment as his first offense. He had a scheduled sentencing date for the charges, but the pardon rendered that court date moot.

Martin's email did not specify which of the Biden family members pardons were being investigated. It also did not make clear who directed Martin to launch the investigation.

DailyMail.com has reached out to the White House and the Department of Justice for comment.

The Constitution gives the president broad power to issue pardons to wipe away federal criminal convictions or commutations to modify sentences.

Trump himself has made extensive use of executive clemency. For instance, he granted clemency on January 20 to all of the nearly 1,600 of his supporters who faced criminal charges in connection with January 6, 2021, which was a failed attempt to prevent congressional certification of Biden's 2020 election victory over Trump.

Martin told reporters last month that he viewed the presidential pardon power as 'plenary,' meaning it is absolute.

'If you use the autopen for pardon power, I don't think that that's necessarily a problem,' Martin said during a May 13 press conference, adding that he still felt the Biden pardons warranted scrutiny.

The investigation appears designed to use the Justice Department to amplify questions about Biden's health and mental acuity, a conversation that has intensified in recent weeks following his cancer diagnosis and a new book revealing Democratic concerns last year about Biden's condition.

Questions have since arisen about whether Biden actually signed many of the orders under his administration amid his noticeable cognitive decline after it was revealed they were signed with an autopen. The mechanical device signs documents rather than an individual. It has been used by presidents and lawmakers for decades.

The Oversight Project in March 'gathered every document we could find with Biden's signature over the course of his presidency'.

'All used the same autopen signature except for the announcement that the former President was dropping out of the race last year.'

It went on to share two examples from documents that it claimed showed the use of the autopen including a document from August 2022 as well as one from December 2024 with what appear to be identical signatures.

The group also posted an image of Biden's signature as a comparison from when he announced he was dropping out of the race. That image shows a slight variation from the other shared documents.

DailyMail.com also examined more than 25 Biden executive orders documented on the Federal Register’s office between 2021 and 2025. It found the same signature on each.

A separate examination of 25 Trump signatures on orders on the Federal Register's website from his first and second administrations also found the signatures were all the same.

The Oversight Project now says investigators must determine 'who controlled the autopen and what checks there were in place' to determine whether Biden actually made any of the orders. Still, it questioned if that was something that could be determined in the 'correct legal process.'

Biden, who is 82, last year dropped his reelection bid amid questions about his mental acuity after a disastrous presidential debate performance. Biden was the oldest person to serve as U.S. president, and Trump is the second oldest. The former president's closest aides have dismissed those concerns, saying Biden was fully capable of making important decisions. No evidence has emerged to suggest that Biden did not intend to issue the pardons.

In addition, a Justice Department memo from 2005 found it was legitimate for a subordinate to use an autopen for the president's signature.
Lots of special pleading there, O Daily Mail reporter. Let us discuss the nature of knowing and knowledge — you seem to have a poor grasp of the concept.

Like many are starting to ask,

Are we being played using the latest announced investigation process?

How many Investigations have we seen, that never seem to be seriously addressed other than generating headlines, or the reports are sanitized/heavily retracted?

When will we see the full release and arrests regarding of the Epstein files?

How about a release of, ALL the JFK/RFK/MLK documents and the exposure of the DC Swamp Elite that set up and/or covered up these assassinations?

When is the Fort Knox Gold Audit trip going to be done? Or do they need to Gold plate more Lead bars 1st, as some jokingly say?

#12  "the Justice Department has been directed to investigate clemency granted by Biden in the waning days of his presidency,"

There would be nothing to investigate if the "clemency" was indeed verifiably "granted by Biden."

The issue is potential forgery and usurpation of presidential powers.

Even if Biden was very frail but of sound mind and willing to grant these pardons there was no need to use an autopen.

His staff could have drafted a proclamation containing all grants of clemency. One signature would have been needed.

Jimmy Carter did pardon thousands with one stroke of the pen in 1977.

Fair enough — German jailed several elderly concentration camp guards. Do you hear those alarm bells ringing? Looks like June is bustin’ out all over, as the old Broadway ditty goes. Bedlam is in the air, and in more varieties than Heinz has pickles. Take your pick: civil war blooming in France and the UK, maybe even Germany — if it can shake off its psychotic stupor. World War III flutters over the continent like an answered prayer coming in for a landing. And here in the USA, genuine insurrection ripens with the summer’s peaches.

A wonderful idea. The man is charmingly evil.
Ol’ Keir likes to throw grannies in jail for rude Facebook posts while Islamic rape gangs do their thing and knife attacks multiply on the indigenous population. Not a good look. All of this puts Mr. Trump in a bind. His efforts to negotiate peace are on-the-rocks for now, as is his (America’s) ability to control the maniac globalist warmongers of NATO. Many in the US, and Mr. Trump himself, make noises about backing off the big mess altogether and dissociating from a NATO alliance that has lost its purpose and meaning, becoming, in fact, a menace to our interests.

IDF thwarts another attempt to smuggle arms from Egypt via drone
[IsraelTimes] The IDF says it foiled yet another attempt to smuggle weapons into Israel from Egypt using a drone today.

The drone had been identified crossing the border from Egypt into Israel before it was downed by troops deployed to the area.

The drone was found to be ferrying 11 rifles and ammunition. The contraband and drone have been handed over to the police.

In recent months, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egypt border, as well as from Israel into Gaza, using drones.

Hamas Agrees To Surrender If Europe Will Take Greta Thunberg Back
[Babylon Bee] GAZA — The tables were turned on the infamous terrorist organization today, with horrified Hamas agreeing to a full and unconditional surrender to Israel if Europe would agree to take Greta Thunberg back.

The well-known left-wing activist was said to be en route to Gaza by sea to make her presence felt in peace negotiations between the two warring sides, leaving Hamas scrambling to do whatever was necessary to stave off her arrival.

"Please, don't let this happen! We will do whatever it takes to keep her away," said Hamas spokesterrorist Abu Muhammed Zahir. "While we have a reputation for perpetrating violent and ruthless acts against our enemies, sending Greta Thunberg here is far beyond any definition of cruel and unusual punishment. We offer Israel our total surrender if Europe agrees to have this wretched harpy turn her ship around and go back to wherever she came from. Thank you, and death to Israel and America."

European officials declined to comment on the details of any negotiations with Hamas but did express strong reluctance to allow Thunberg to return to the continent. "No, that's not an option," said spokeseuropean Jurgen Burgen. "We finally had the opportunity to get her on board a ship bound for international waters. It is our intent to prevent her from ever coming back. We got rid of her. We wish the residents of Gaza the best when Greta makes it to shore. May God be merciful."

At publishing time, Hamas had reportedly not received any response to its desperate pleas to other Arab nations to come defend them from Thunberg.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The enemy did not win, Russia did not lose. Why do we need the myth of the 'Tsushima disgrace' (1904-‘05)
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Stanislav Smirnov

[REGNUM] The publication of two articles for the 120th anniversary of the Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905 — materials dedicated to the Battle of Mukden and the Battle of Tsushima — has provoked an active reaction on social networks. The author drew attention to some of the responses — in the Telegram channels “ Military Scientific Archive ” and “ Turkestan General Staff Officer ”. In the end, the objections fit into the historical narrative that emerged after 1917 about Japan’s military superiority over the backward Russian army.

But critics ignore the facts and figures cited in the published articles. In particular, the approximate equality of Russian and Japanese losses in all major battles in the theater of military operations in Manchuria (battles at sea are a separate topic, and we covered it in detail in the article dedicated to Tsushima) - an equality that became fatal for the enemy.

The reasons for the allegedly "incompetent" command of Alexei Kuropatkin were left unattended, and in particular one of the most important reasons - the threefold superiority in forces of the enemy in the first period of the war. Likewise, it was overlooked that when this balance of forces changed, the Japanese immediately asked for peace and eventually abandoned most of their initial demands.

The author does not claim that Russia won the Russo-Japanese War. But following a number of other researchers, including those with high academic degrees, and following the commander-in-chief of the Russo-Japanese War, Nicholas II, he states that there was neither a winner nor a loser in the battle.

This is despite the fact that, being armed to the teeth by England, France and Germany, having a multiple advantage in manpower, artillery, and navy, Japan - as it seemed to itself and its Western patrons - was simply doomed to a crushing victory in the blitzkrieg. But victory did not happen, Russia held out. And, having gathered its strength, having completed the Trans-Siberian Railway, having increased its group to 1 million bayonets and sabres, it was able to defeat Japan, squeezing it out of China.

But such a development of events was prevented by domestic political circumstances - turmoil, which was used by the fifth column with money from American bankers and Japanese intelligence. Here the author relies on the work of historian Sergei Petrov and Doctor of Historical Sciences, leading research fellow of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Pavlov " Japanese Money and the Russian Revolution ".

One more remark. Describing the supposedly catastrophic defeats of the Russian army in Manchuria, opponents draw parallels with the "Great Retreat" in 1915. Objectively, both in 1904-1905 and in 1915, our troops retreated.

But how and with what consequences? As follows from the 9-volume Military Historical Commission of the General Staff (St. Petersburg, 1910), which collected about 40 thousand documents of the Manchurian armies, the entire series of retreats for the whole of 1904 and the beginning of 1905 - from the Kwantung (Liaodong) Peninsula to Sipingai - did not exceed 200 miles.

It is difficult to compare this with the consequences of the difficult retreats for our army in 1915 and especially 1941.

Further, the author will allow himself to make several general comments.

Centuries and eras follow each other, but human nature and the essence of international relations remain unchanged. Today, the world is as complex and full of contradictions as it was in the times of Ivan the Terrible or Nicholas II. The latter's father, Emperor Alexander III, liked to repeat that Russia has only two allies - its army and navy. This is obviously how things stand now. At the same time, the army is strong not only because of its strong discipline and advanced technology. Above all, its strength lies in its fortitude of spirit, and that, in turn, is achieved by learning from the examples of the past. If a warrior carries in his memory and heart the knowledge of the exploits of distant ancestors and a reverent attitude towards them, he is spiritually ready to repeat heroic deeds in new conditions.
All true. Don’t forget to feed, clothe, and pay your soldiers, guys. That, too, is showing respect.
One of the clear examples of the military feat of Russian soldiers, officers and commanders was the war with Japan, which began with a surprise attack on the Russian Pacific Fleet on January 27, 1904.

From the first days of that war, Russia's ill-wishers spread myths about the "catastrophic" and "shameful" defeats of the Russian troops. Such exaggerations served purely political purposes - to demoralize society and the government and to break through to power. Later, the myth about the supposedly crushing defeat of Russia in the war with Japan, implanted by historians and publicists of the Soviet school, solved the problem of "post factum justification" of the revolutions of 1905 and 1917.

The Russo-Japanese War ended for Russia with certain concessions and losses, but by no means with a crushing defeat, as biased publicists and historians tried and are trying to present.

One can argue about the correctness of the strategy chosen by the Commander-in-Chief of the Manchurian armies, General Kuropatkin, but - let us emphasize - given the enormous advantages of Japan, which had been purposefully preparing for war for almost a whole decade, such a strategy seems justified. The enemy never managed to utterly defeat our armies.

There were no fatal encirclements or catastrophic "cauldrons" in this war. There were organized retreats and losses commensurate with the enemy's losses. The latter circumstance concealed Japan's final defeat, since it was many times inferior to Russia in human and material resources.

The defeat at Tsushima, declared by its opponents as proof of “Russia’s military collapse,” had a resounding political and psychological effect, but little strategic consequence, since the fate of the war was ultimately decided not at sea, but on land.

As already noted, the Japanese blitzkrieg failed because the enemy did not achieve the goals it set: to capture not only Korea and Manchuria, but also Primorye and the Amur region, to weaken the Pacific Fleet, and to compensate the aggressor for all of its expenses for the war.

The negotiations in Portsmouth were conducted on the basis of the fact that "Japan did not win - Russia did not lose". Nicholas II resolutely demanded from the Russian delegation: not an inch of Russian land, not a kopeck of contributions, otherwise - continuation of the war until complete victory. Let us repeat: by the summer of 1905, Russia had a large advantage in military force, the morale of the Manchurian armies was high; the capacity of the completed Trans-Siberian Railway increased from 3 to 14 pairs of trains per day in 1904, which ensured the rapid delivery of reinforcements.

But — let us emphasize once again — the deterioration of the domestic political situation forced the Tsar to agree to peace talks and certain concessions. It is characteristic that the treaty signed in Portsmouth, USA, with the mediation of US President Theodore Roosevelt was regarded in the world as a success of Russian diplomacy. Roosevelt himself noted that the Russian delegation headed by Count Sergei Witte achieved not just a mutually acceptable result, but a result that was disadvantageous for the seemingly victorious Japan: "I think that the Japanese have given up more than was necessary."

Even London, where they were openly rooting for their Far Eastern partners, was forced to admit this. As The Standard noted, “Russia had won one of its greatest diplomatic victories, fully in line with Witte’s statement: ‘Not a single kopeck in return.’”

In fact, initially the Mikado's representatives demanded that the entire Sakhalin Island they had captured be handed over to Japan, that all Japanese ships interned by Russia be returned, that Russian naval forces in the Far East be limited, and that a contribution be paid.

But the only thing they managed to achieve was the transfer of part of Sakhalin south of the 50th parallel, given that Russia and Japan mutually agreed “not to build any fortifications in their possessions on Sakhalin Island and the islands adjacent to it.” Although the domestic press nicknamed Witte “ Count Half-Sakhalin,” it was difficult to deny that Russia returned the northern part of the island without any contributions.

At the same time, Japan was openly dissatisfied with the outcome of the war. The world press wrote about the riots that broke out in Tokyo (at least 30,000 angry subjects of the Mikado demonstrated in Hibiya Park) and about the subsequent organizational conclusions from the Emperor: for the failure in Portsmouth, the Prime Minister Prince Katsura Taro resigned, and, most importantly, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Marquis Kamura Jutaro, the creator of the Anglo-Japanese diplomatic alliance, who was responsible for the political preparation of the Russo-Japanese War, and in Portsmouth headed the Japanese delegation.

This hardly resembled the outcome of the “ total defeat of the weak tsarist army and backward Russia,” but rather a halt to the war and a military draw in the battle that was played out in August–September 1945. The assessment that Vladimir Lenin gave in an article on the occasion of the capture of Port Arthur by the Japanese: “Progressive, advanced Asia dealt an irreparable blow to backward and reactionary Europe… with Russia at the head… The Russian Pacific fleet, which was initially no less, if not more, powerful than the Japanese, was finally destroyed,” turned out to be premature.

The Pacific Fleet had been restored by 1914 (based on the Siberian Military Flotilla), and the blow, judging by the results in Portsmouth, was far from irreparable. So the courage and fortitude of Russian soldiers on the fields of Manchuria and in the defense of Port Arthur, inscribed in history in golden letters, were not in vain.

[Regnum] The duration of magnetic storms on Earth has reached 48 hours. This was reported on the website of the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

“The total duration of continuous geomagnetic disturbances as of the current moment is 54 hours, of which 48 hours were storms,” the report says.

According to scientists, magnetosphere oscillations began to increase around 03:00 Moscow time and reached the G2 and G3 levels, which corresponds to a storm of medium and large strength. Such geomagnetic conditions are reported to remain until 15:00 Moscow time.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on May 31, scientists recorded the largest emission on the Sun since the beginning of the year. In this case, the plasma flew towards the Earth. The power of the flow is only slightly less than that of the flow in May last year, which caused a magnetic storm of the fifth category on Earth.

The plasma cloud traveled towards Earth at a speed of over 1,000 km/s. It reached the planet almost a day earlier than scientists had predicted.

Onooo! Florida Board of Governors blocks appointment of former U. Mich president Ono
[DetroitNews] The Florida Board of Governors voted Tuesday against the confirmation of former University of Michigan President Santa Ono as the University of Florida's next president, blocking the incoming UF president selection for the first time in its history amid sharp criticism from conservatives.
The University of Michigan hired him from the University of British Columbia, which had hired him from the University of Cincinnati, where he was much liked. But nothing interesting was happening here in those days. He’s a second gen. academic, having been born in Vancouver while his naturalized American father professed there for a few years, giving him birthright citizenship in both countries. By training he is apparently a pretty good immunologist.
The board, which oversees the state's universities, voted 10-6 against Ono following an hours-long meeting during which the governors grilled the former UM leader about hot-button topics, including diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies and gender-affirming care during his tenure in Michigan. In late March, Ono immediately shut down two DEI offices at Michigan and an effort dedicated to DEI, shifting the resources to other student programs.

The board's rejection came after the University of Florida Board of Trustees voted unanimously in May to approve Ono as the school's 14th president. Prominent conservatives, including Donald Trump Jr. and Republican U.S. Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, raised questions about Ono before the vote over pro-Palestinian protests, climate change efforts, gender ideology and DEI programs at the UM and his previous academic posts.

One of the governors, Carson Good, said after speaking with students, professors, alumni and Michigan Medicine doctors, he thought Ono was "great about coming forward, giving speeches, going to football games, being transparent." Still, he ultimately voted against the confirmation, saying the "philosophical difference is just too far."

At one point during the meeting, Good asked Ono whether doctors in the medical schools at either UM or the University of British Columbia, where Ono served as president from 2016-22, had ever "cut off minor boys' genitals or girls' breasts" as part of gender-affirming care programs.

Ono said he couldn't answer that question accurately because "I don't have a complete encyclopedic knowledge of everything that's happened."

Good also grilled Ono about a prior comment the former UM president had made, asserting that racism is one of America's "original sins." Good said, per Christian doctrine, original sin can only be escaped by a "total rebirth, total uprooting with divine intervention."

"I regret the use of those words. … I should have been precise," Ono said.
He was merely parroting the common wisdom in academia at the time instead of doing the intellectual work.
Ono's proposed contract included a number of ideological requirements, such as how well he stopped programs that focus on DEI. He was to cooperate with Gov. Ron DeSantis' Office of Government Efficiency — similar to the office created by President Donald Trump — and appoint other university officials and deans who are “firmly aligned” with Florida's approach.

James Finkelstein, a George Mason University Professor Emeritus of Public Policy who has tracked UM presidential developments, said “from the start of today’s Board of Governors meeting, it was evident that Dr. Ono’s appointment was in serious jeopardy, despite the earlier unanimous endorsement from the University of Florida’s Board of Trustees.”

“The opposition was coordinated, strategic and well-prepared. Dr. Ono seemed caught off guard and struggled to reassure skeptical board members of his sincerity in shifting away from DEI-related initiatives," Finkelstein said. “His rejection signifies a symbolic victory for the MAGA movement and highlights the growing politicization of leadership in higher education. If there’s a lesson for any sitting university president: Never (leave) your current position without having a signed contract in hand.”
Always good advice if it’s an option.
Ono announced via a May 4 letter addressed to the university community that he was the lone finalist for the top job at the University of Florida. He made clear that he planned to accept if confirmed by the board, but the letter contained no formal resignation from his post at the University of Michigan.

The search for the Florida job will start over. What happens with Ono remains unclear, including whether he could return to UM. Ono is a vision researcher, and his new UM contract that was approved last year included increased university support for Ono's laboratory by $1.4 million. A UM spokesperson didn't immediately respond Tuesday to a question about Ono's status at the university.

Last month in Michigan, the UM regents appointed Domenico Grasso, chancellor at UM Dearborn, as interim president on May 8, with immediate effect, and affirmed the appointment at a May 15 meeting.

When initially reached for comment by a Detroit News reporter on Tuesday, University of Michigan Regent Jordan Acker referred to a post he made on X shortly after the news of Ono’s rejection broke. That post quoted the author Fran Lebowitz and read: “He doesn’t believe in anything — just auditions for approval in whatever room he’s in.”
The Japanese culture emphasizes that the nail that sticks up gets hammered down. President Ono was clearly careful not to stick up, no matter his private opinions.
Pressed on whether the UM board would consider letting Ono return to Ann Arbor, Acker told The Detroit News: “A Michigan person will run Michigan."

In a letter sent Monday to Florida board members and posted online, Sen. Scott accused Ono of “failing to uphold the most basic standards of leadership” by allowing an encampment set up by pro-Palestinian student protestors to stand for nearly a month while UM president. The police clearing of the encampment was criticized by some students and professors on the Ann Arbor campus.

Scott was the latest official to voice his opposition to Ono, joining Florida Republican U.S. Reps. Greg Steube, Jimmy Patronis and Byron Donalds, who is a candidate for governor.

Writing in Inside Higher Ed, Ono said he supported DEI initiatives at first because they aim was “equal opportunity and fairness for every student.”

“But over time, I saw how DEI became something else — more about ideology, division and bureaucracy, not student success,” Ono wrote, adding that he eventually limited DEI offices at Michigan. “I believe in Florida's vision for higher education.”

DeSantis, a Republican who has pushed reforms in higher education to eliminate what he calls “woke” policies such as DEI, did not take a public stand on Ono but did say at a recent news conference that some of his statements made the governor “cringe.”

Ono faced similar pointed questions at Tuesday's meeting — especially from former Republican state House speakers Paul Renner and Jose Oliva — prompting board member Charles Lydecker to object to the procedure.

“We have never used this as a forum to interrogate. This is not a court of law. Candidly, this process does not seem fair to me," Lydecker said.

Oliva, however, questioned how to square Ono's many past statements about hot-button cultural issues with his more conservative stance now that he sought the Florida job.

“Now we are told to believe you are now abandoning an entire ideological architecture," Oliva said. “We are asking someone to lead our flagship university. I don't understand how it becomes unfair.”

Ono was questioned about a rule requiring UM students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. The mandate was updated in 2023 to include only students residing on campus in Ann Arbor. The Florida officials said that it was far later than they would have expected a vaccine requirement to have remained in effect.
Wasn’t that a statewide legal thingy required the governor or the legislature to change? Did he, as a mere university president have the power to impact that himself?
"We (in Florida) think of COVID being from March of 2020 to, like, July of 2020," said Good, noting Ono's background as an immunologist.

Ono said the mandate was recommended by both a chief health officer at UM and a committee "who are much more qualified than I — because they're actually doctors, I'm a scientist — to make that decision."
Meh. Doctors, God bless ‘em, are downstream consumers of scientific research. As a medical researcher, particularly as an immunologist, it should have been his expertise the doctors relied on to make their determinations.

AU Confirms Exit of Burundian Troops from Somali Town Following Flooding
[Garowe] The African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) has confirmed the exit of the Burundian Defence Forces from the strategic town of Xawaadley, northwest of Mogadishu, adding that they left the area following flooding.

The statement comes after the al-Shabaab
... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda...
Death Eaters claimed to have captured Xawaadley village after clashing with Burundian troops, adding that they managed to run over the Forward Operating Base (FOB) within the country.

During the evacuation on Monday, the African Union said, one of the helicopters experienced a technical malfunction. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
despite this challenge, the pilots skilfully manoeuvred the aircraft to land safely.

"All troops and crew have been successfully evacuated to the nearest military base, and no casualties have been reported," read the statement. "AUSSOM commends the Burundian soldiers for their preparedness, which ensured a smooth and safe evacuation."

Without mentioning al-Shabaab's possible ambush, Kareem Adebayo, the Acting Special Representative of the African Union Commission Chairperson (SRCC) for Somalia, commended the troops for their continued support for the federal government of Somalia.

’’We commend the swift action of the AUSSOM Burundian troops during the delicate operation, and we reaffirm our continued support to the people and the Federal Government of Somalia in mitigating the effects of the flooding,’’ Kareem said.

This comes amid heightened al-Shabaab attacks across the country, with the government of Somalia also accused of failing to tackle the rising insurgency. The government of Somalia is accused of immersing itself in political conflicts rather than handling the al-Shabaab insurgency.

Somalia also risks defunding from the United States of America, which maintains that other partners must submit equal resources to sustain the peacekeeping mission. al-Shabaab remains a threat to stability within the Horn of Africa nations.

Al-Shabaab Claims It Shot Down Helicopter During AU Evacuation in Central Somalia

[ShabelleMedia] Somalia’s Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed responsibility for shooting down a helicopter near its stronghold in the Middle Shabelle region, during an evacuation mission by Burundian troops under the African Union’s AUSSOM mission, officials said Tuesday.

The helicopter was transporting Burundian peacekeepers from the flood-affected village of Hawadley when it went down on Monday. According to the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure, prompting an emergency landing near territory controlled by the al-Qaeda-linked group.

All personnel on board, including the pilot and troops, evacuated safely and were later recovered and transferred to a nearby military base. The helicopter, left behind at the site, was later captured by Al-Shabaab fighters, who have since circulated images of the wreckage and claimed responsibility for downing the aircraft.

Local sources and Somali officials could not independently verify the claim. AUSSOM maintains that the incident was due to a technical malfunction and not enemy fire.

Following the AU withdrawal, local officials reported that Al-Shabaab may have re-entered Hawadley, a strategic village near Jowhar, the capital of Hirshabelle State, where the group retains significant influence.

Kareem Adebayo, the acting Special Representative of the AU Commission Chairperson for Somalia, commended the Burundian troops for their “swift and professional response” and reaffirmed the AU’s continued support to Somalia amid worsening flooding and persistent security threats.

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Two Afghan citizens shot and killed in the US
[KhaamaPress] Two Afghan citizens were fatally shot in separate incidents across the U.S., raising concerns about the safety of refugees.

Sources have reported that two more Afghan citizens were killed in separate incidents in different U.S. states. These tragic events occurred yesterday and Tuesday, June 3.

The victims have been identified as Rasul Jan, a young man from Khost province
... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name...
, and Zarmin Shinwari, a resident of Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..
province. According to sources, Rasul Jan was shot and killed by armed robbers in Kentucky, while the motive behind Zarmin Shinwari’s killing in Oklahoma remains unclear.

U.S. police have not yet released any official statements regarding these cases. These killings mark the fourth such incident in the past week involving Afghan nationals targeted by armed assailants or armed robbers, and even U.S. coppers.

On Sunday, June 1, another Afghan citizen named Rais Silab, originally from Khost province in southern Afghanistan, was shot and killed near his home in Texas. Rais received a phone call from friends, and shortly after leaving his house, he was shot. The motive and perpetrators remain unknown.

AmuTV has the same story with the same photos, but with names spelt differently and a little more information:
Two Afghan nationals were fatally shot in separate incidents in the United States on Sunday and Monday, sources told Amu TV. The victims, identified as Rasool Jan and Zarmin Shinwari, were originally from Khost and Nangarhar provinces.

Rasool Jan was killed in Kentucky during an attempted carjacking by armed assailants, while Zarmin Shinwari was shot by unidentified gunmen in Oklahoma, sources said.

Law enforcement officials in the US have yet to comment on either incident.

These latest killings mark the third and fourth reported deaths of Afghan citizens in the US over the past week. On Monday, sources confirmed that Rais Selaab, another Afghan national from Khost province, was shot near his home in Texas after reportedly receiving a phone call from friends and stepping outside.

The motives behind these attacks remain unclear, and no suspects have been identified or apprehended. Authorities in the United States have not issued public statements on any of the cases.

The incidents have raised concerns among Afghan diaspora communities, many of whom sought refuge in the US after the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021.

Help the Family of Zarmin Shinwari,
Afghan U.S. Special Forces Soldier Killed in Tragic Crash

This is the first thing that popped up when I searched the name. I have no way of doing due diligence to prove any of the claims here, or that this is indeed the man in the story above., but anasfar as there are details, they match the reports from the Afghan news sites.
[GoFundMe] Zarmin Shinwari—a former Afghan soldier who served alongside the U.S. Special Forces 02 unit for over 12 years in Jalalabad—tragically lost his life in a car accident while driving for Uber in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May31, 2025. He was the sole provider for his beloved wife and three young children, ages 11, 9, and 6.

After years of loyal service, Zarmin resettled in the U.S. to build a safer life for his family. Now, his wife and children face unimaginable loss and financial hardship.

We are raising funds to cover Zarmin’s burial and to support his grieving family during this devastating time. His children have lost not just their father, but their hero, their protector, and their future.

Police say 2 foreign activists to be deported after entering closed military zone in West Bank
[IsraelTimes] Police detained two foreign activists who entered a closed military zone in the southern West Bank on Saturday, a police spokesman says. Both are slated for deportation in the coming days.

The women were arrested in the South Hebron Hills after officers received a complaint from the security coordinator for Maon, a West Bank settlement in the area.

Police investigators discovered that one of the women detained has a reputation abroad as an anti-Israel activist.
Any connection to the one expelled for the same thing in mid-May?
After being brought to a hearing before the Population and Immigration Authority, the two women were ordered deported from the country.

While one of the activists accepted the ruling, the other is petitioning to overturn her deportation.

Until the appeal hearing is held, both women will remain in custody at Givon Prison in central Israel, police say.

Hegseth orders name of gay rights activist Harvey Milk scrubbed from Navy ship
[10 News] About Friggin' time. Let the Liberal heads explode!
The ship was named in 2016 by then-Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who said the John Lewis-class of oilers would be named after leaders who fought for civil and human rights.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to rename the USNS Harvey Milk, a highly rare move that will strip the ship of the moniker of a slain gay rights pedophile activist who served as a sailor during the Korean War.
I imagine he was drafted. At any rate, his Navy service can’t possibly have been central to his story.
U.S. officials say Navy Secretary John Phelan put together a small team to rename the replenishment oiler and that a new name is expected this month. The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, said the next name had not yet been chosen.

The USNS Harvey Milk was named in 2016 by then-Navy Secretary Ray Mabus, who said at the time that the John Lewis-class of oilers would be named after leaders who fought for civil and human rights.

Milk, who was portrayed by Sean Penn in an Oscar-winning 2008 movie, served for four years in the Navy before he was forced out for being gay. He later became one of the first openly gay candidates elected to public office. Milk served on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and had sponsored a bill banning discrimination based on sexual orientation in public accommodations, housing and employment. It passed, and San Francisco Mayor George Moscone signed it into law.
His Navy service was clearly more more important to those social justice warriors who pushed for a ship to be named after him, than to the man himself, and rightfully so.
On Nov. 27, 1978, Milk and Moscone were assassinated by Dan White, a disgruntled former city supervisor who cast the sole vote against Milk’s bill.

The ship was christened in 2021, and during the ceremony, then-Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro said he wanted to be at the event "not just to amend the wrongs of the past, but to give inspiration to all of our LGBTQ community leaders who served in the Navy, in uniform today and in the civilian workforce as well, too, and to tell them that we’re committed to them in the future."

#6  USS Harvey Milk To Be Renamed 'USS No Homo'

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Navy announced this morning that the USS Harvey Milk will be officially renamed the USS No Homo.

Christened the 'Harvey Milk' four years ago in honor of the infamous gay sexual predator, the ship's name change reflects a broader effort by military leadership to clarify that the Navy isn't actually that gay.

"Despite the uniforms, the Navy isn't just nancy boys and fairies," said Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. "The names of our ships ought to reflect that non-gayness. It's hard enough for them already, wearing their fruity little sailor outfits, without also having their ships named after gay child molesters. Therefore, we have officially renamed the ship the 'No Homo' out of love and care for our Navy brothers. No homo."

Gay rights activists have condemned the decision, stating it is a blatant denial of the truth as the ship is obviously very gay. "Who do you think you're fooling? The ship is a literally called an 'oiler', its whole job is oiling up other ships, and it's docked in San Fran. It's a total flamer," said local activist Mikai Danielson. "Methinks Secretary Hegseth doth protest too much."

At publishing time, Secretary Hegseth had issued an order for everyone to stop calling Navy guys "seamen."

Ivanovo airfield after drone attack 01.06.2026
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

See the photo spread at the link.

Commentary by Russian military journalist Boris Rozhin.

[ColonelCassad] Satellite images of the airfield in Ivanovo (taken on June 3) appeared after an attempt to attack the airfield with kamikaze drones launched from special trucks. The images do not show any serious damage to the airfield or damaged/burned aircraft.

The planes are still parked in the open, as before.

This confirms that the aircraft were lost at airbases in the Irkutsk and Murmansk regions. The truck did not reach Ukrainka in the Amur region. Judging by the photos, everything is fine in Ivanovo.

Photos of the airfield in the Ryazan region (but according to reports on June 1, they also fought back there) and in Olenegorsk, where a number of aircraft were hit, have not yet been published.

In general, there are certainly no 40 destroyed aircraft. In reality, 12-14 aircraft were damaged at two airfields, some of which were destroyed, some were out of action for lengthy repairs.

I predict that the loss of several Tu-95MS in the coming months will force the program of replacing Tu-95s with Tu-160s, which was stretched out until 2035-2040, to be accelerated.

We currently produce four Tu-160s per year. At this rate, replacing retired and simply outdated aircraft is, frankly speaking, not a quick matter. But we will have to speed up - strategists are needed one way or another, because it is unclear when the PAK DA will be there again.

Round Two: How the latest negotiations with the Ukrainians went
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
by Gevorg Mirzayan

[REGNUM] On June 2, the second round of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev took place. As in the first round, the Russian delegation was headed by presidential adviser Vladimir Medinsky. And, again, as in the first round, Russia was able to outplay Ukraine.

Firstly, by itself, the continuation of the dialogue in the same place and format. “The Ukrainian side tried to move this meeting to any other point. To the Vatican, Geneva - all in order to break the symbolic connection with the beginning of the Istanbul negotiations in 2022,” former Verkhovna Rada deputy Spiridon Kilinkarov explains to Regnum.

In addition, Kyiv demanded that Russia replace the head of the delegation - Medinsky, in the opinion of the Ukrainian regime, was too tough. The Kremlin did not agree to any of the demands - moreover, it indicated not only the place and person, but also the date when the Ukrainian delegation should arrive in Istanbul. And the Ukrainian delegation arrived there.

Secondly, Moscow did not fall for Ukrainian provocations. The series of strikes carried out on June 1 did not make the impression on Russia that the Ukrainian leadership had hoped for.

The attacks were supposed, according to the calculations of their Kyiv and British organizers, to piss off Russia. To force the Kremlin either to refuse negotiations, or to immediately strike a retaliatory blow, or (who knows) to force the Russian side to make some unfavorable compromises with Kiev.

In general, abandon the current winning strategy of attrition and a tough, but at the same time diplomatically verified position.

Russia did not refuse. The delegation arrived, held negotiations, and handed over its draft memorandum to the Kyiv regime. After which, to avoid any misinterpretations, it was published.

The memorandum itself consists of two parts. First, how to achieve full-fledged peace. In essence, the text sets out an effective and detailed strategy for a diplomatic way out of the crisis.

The memorandum clearly reflects all the stated (and more than once) goals and objectives of the SVO, including the deoccupation of Russian territories, the demilitarization of Ukraine, the dispersal of all nationalist organizations and formations within the National Guard and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Moreover, it outlines the prospects for peaceful coexistence between Moscow and Kyiv, built on mutual respect for interests and the rejection of any Russophobia in Ukrainian foreign and domestic policy.

The Kyiv regime will have to abolish all discriminatory laws, start protecting the rights of Russian-speaking and Russian-thinking citizens, as well as their faith (for which all persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church must cease). The memorandum demands that Ukraine give the Russian language official status.

Simply put, Ukraine is being asked to voluntarily renounce its “anti-Russia” status. And not just renounce it, but also to provide guarantees that this renunciation is final and cannot be changed – after all, from the very beginning of the SVO, Moscow made it clear that it would not allow such an entity to exist near its borders.

The second part is devoted to the measures necessary to cease fire.

Unlike the Kyiv draft memorandum (where the ceasefire is just a respite that Ukraine and its European sponsors will use to rearm the Ukrainian Armed Forces and take the war to a larger scale), in the Russian proposal the ceasefire is an instrument for finally achieving peace.

In essence, the Ukrainian side is offered two options for the entry into force of the ceasefire. Either immediately withdraw troops from the occupied Russian territories, or take a series of preliminary steps, including the cancellation of mobilization, the cessation of receiving weapons and intelligence from the West, the release of political prisoners and, most importantly, the signing of a special document in which the Kiev regime undertakes to fulfill all Russian demands: to liberate the territories, denazify, demilitarize, etc.

The ceasefire will be used to hold elections in Ukraine, after which the new authorities will sign a final peace document with Moscow.

That is, to put it simply, Moscow is consistently promoting the simplest principle: first the terms of a peace agreement and guarantees that they will be observed, and only then the peace agreement itself.

If necessary, through a truce, which will be announced only after Kyiv publicly agrees to the terms of a future peace agreement. And even in this case, the truce is not eternal.

For example, according to the text of the memorandum, the Kiev regime must immediately after signing the truce lift martial law and hold elections within 100 days. After which the newly elected leader of the country will sign a peace agreement previously agreed upon and signed by the current authorities.

Yes, the Kyiv regime is not ready to sign anything now.

"The Ukrainian side is not inclined to any constructive dialogue. It is only performing a certain ritual in order not to receive the status of a state that disrupts the negotiation process," says Spiridon Kilinkarov.

And Europe, the main sponsor of the Kiev regime, is not ready to accept Russian proposals for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. "The European Union has decided for itself that they will do everything possible and impossible to ensure that these negotiations are not successful. Therefore, they write memoranda, put forward obviously unacceptable conditions and do everything to sabotage the negotiations," Kilinkarov continues.

However, few hoped for the opposite. The goal of the Russian delegation at the negotiations was not to obtain the Ukrainian signature under the peace treaty, but to create a diplomatic track that is necessary and beneficial to Moscow. With an agenda, a sequence of actions, an entourage. And Russia achieved this.

In essence, now it is only possible to resolve issues of a humanitarian nature with the Kyiv regime, and the Russian delegation resolved these issues.

It did not arrange PR for “compassionate European childless old ladies” (as Vladimir Medinsky described the demands of the Kyiv regime for the return of children allegedly kidnapped by Russia, whom Moscow was saving from Ukrainian shelling), it did not pull numbers out of thin air (the claims initially made by Kiev about one and a half million kidnapped children were transformed into a list of 339 people - and it is not a fact that all of them are on Russian territory), but it decided.

Thus, Russia agreed to exchange seriously wounded soldiers (i.e. those who will no longer be able to return to service) on the principle of all for all. It also agreed to exchange young (under 25) prisoners.

"At the same time, the overall ceiling, the limit, will be no less than a thousand people on each side. No less than a thousand, perhaps more. These figures are being finalized now," said Vladimir Medinsky.

And finally, it took the initiative to hand over to the Kiev regime 6 thousand bodies of Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, which are currently stored in Russian morgues. “We identified everything we could, conducted DNA tests, found out who they were,” explained the head of the Russian delegation.

Moreover, it is precisely to give them back, and not to exchange bodies on a one-for-one basis, as the head of the Kiev delegation, Rustem Umerov, said. Russia, unlike Ukraine, does not fight with the dead.

But Ukrainian discontent is understandable. Firstly, the release of 6 thousand dead VSEU soldiers shatters Zelensky's myths that no more than 30 thousand Ukrainians died in the war.

Secondly, the head of the Kyiv regime does not need the bodies of its fighters for financial reasons - for each one, it will have to pay multi-million dollar compensation to the families.

As a result, the second round of Istanbul negotiations showed that Russia is ready to continue to resolve humanitarian issues – however, Kyiv and Brussels should not even dream of Moscow retreating from the principles of a final resolution to the conflict (with the elimination of its root causes).

Yes, Ukraine may carry out new provocations before the third round, but they will not lead to a result. The West may threaten sanctions again – but the result will be exactly the same. Nothing will force Russia to abandon the defense of its national interests and sovereignty.

And it will not force us to return to the Minsk format – a roadmap based on Kyiv’s false promises to fulfill what it signed in the presence of Europeans.

Le Monde: Attack on Russian airfields would not have been possible without US satellite communications
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] The attack by drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on Russian military airfields could not have been carried out without American satellite communications. This was stated by former French army officer Guillaume Ancel in an interview with the French newspaper Le Monde.

"This is possible and conceivable only with the support of a powerful satellite communications system. Since the Ukrainians do not have such experience, if they were able to act remotely, this is certainly a credit to the United States," he noted.

The former military man also expressed confidence that Washington continues to transmit intelligence to Kyiv about the location of strategic facilities on Russian territory.

Ansel suggested that US President Donald Trump was thus sending a "signal" to Russia.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 1, the Kiev regime carried out terrorist attacks against five Russian airfields: in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions. The attacks were carried out using FPV drones, which are controlled by an operator using real-time video.

All attacks on military airfields in the Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions were repelled. All fires were extinguished, there were no casualties or fatalities. The Defense Ministry also added that some of the participants in the terrorist attacks were detained.

Medvedev calls retaliation inevitable for attack on Russian airfields
[Regnum] Retaliation for the attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Russian airfields is inevitable, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on June 3.

"To all those who are worried and expecting retribution. You need to worry - this is a characteristic of a normal person. Retribution is inevitable," Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel.

He called for remembering that Russian troops are currently continuing their active offensive.

“Everything that is supposed to explode will certainly explode, and those who are supposed to be exterminated will disappear,” Medvedev wrote.

The negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul are needed not for a compromise peace “on unrealistic conditions,” but for the speedy victory of Russia and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi government in Kyiv; this is the meaning of the Russian memorandum on the settlement of the conflict, the deputy chairman of the Security Council emphasized.

As reported by the Regnum news agency, on June 1, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that the Kiev regime had committed a terrorist attack using FPV drones against five Russian airfields in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions. Fires broke out at two airfields. They were extinguished, there were no casualties. Some of the participants in the terrorist attacks were detained.

The Russian Federation's memorandum on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, published on June 2, assumes, in particular, the Kiev regime's refusal to join NATO, the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the territories of regions that returned to Russia in 2022, confirmation of Ukraine's non-nuclear status, and ensuring the rights and freedoms of the Russian-speaking population, as well as the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

#1  How do you know they didn't get the intel while Biden was still in office?

#2  The attack ... could not have been carried out without American satellite communications

Maybe. Maybe not.
By treaty, the bombers in question must be out in the open for verification.
Commercial satellite imagery is readily available.
The comm links between the drones and operators could have been digital radio locally, or via cell phone for longer distances.

tl;dr: It was a brilliant operation, but carried out with off-the-shelf parts. It would be unsurprising to learn the Ukrainian intel service had some outside help.
