Someone finally brings clarity to the Obamagate narrative
[American Thinker] When NSA surveillance was halted, the Obama administration lost its secret eyes on domestic political activity and especially on the rising Trump campaign. To regain that vision, the CIA and FBI launched new surveillance efforts. Three elements stand out. First, the executive branch, then controlled by Democrats, was determined to spy on the opposition party. Second, much of the spying was conducted by agencies that are limited, by law, to foreign operations. Since their goal was actually domestic surveillance and since that was illegal, they apparently outsourced some of it to friendly foreign governments, who relayed the information back to Washington. Third, since the FBI wanted to spy on Trump aides who were not actually suspected of crimes, they couldn't get regular warrants. To work around that, the FBI (under James Comey) and Department of Justice (under Loretta Lynch) falsely claimed the targets were foreign spies, making them eligible for FISA warrants. They also tried to entrap them (with help from CIA assets abroad), hoping they would commit illegal acts or say their colleagues had done so.
The Remains of an Administration
NR via Instapundit
Each day that the Obama administration fades into the past, its wrongdoings manage to wander back into the present.
After years of suppression, all sorts of strange events keep popping up to remind us of what little is left of the Obama years — the Susan Rice memo, Christopher Steele deleting his computer records, FBI-doctored and lost 302s, text messages wiped clean, the bizarre Obama January 5, 2017, Oval Office meeting, the ambush interview of Michael Flynn, the unmasking and leaking of redacted names swept up in reverse-targeting surveillance operations, the administration fraud perpetrated on the FISA courts. The list is so overwhelming and bizarre that it ensures that anything at any time can now appear. And the result keeps reminding Americans of how corrupt were the years between 2009 and 2017 and how untruthful was the coverage of such institutionalized wrongdoing.
Emeritus Barack Obama now and then ventures out to go through the motions of an enfeebled defense for what is becoming an increasingly discredited administration. But his heart is not in it. His mind is elsewhere. His cause is no longer social activism and community organizing, if it ever was, but lucre and the perceived well-earned good life. The arc of his moralizing universe is long, but for the anointed like him, it apparently bends toward the just deserts of riches and material bounty.
First lady forever and bestselling memoirist Michelle Obama sometimes takes a hiatus from making millions to offer a half-hearted progressive warning about the sudden heartlessness of the country — reminiscent of her transitory 2008 warnings about a downright mean country and one of which she had previously not been especially proud.
The remains of the Obama team (Susan Rice, Ben Rhodes, Hillary Clinton, John Brennan, James Comey, Samantha Power) are not offering much of a defense for the Obama years — they are now too busy scrambling to hide their own legal culpability and exposure. The bending arc of the 2009 dream team finally ends in the platitudes of "I can’t remember" and "Not to my knowledge" that will eventually find their way from CNN and MSNBC into the court room.

Team Biden Panics As Leaked Ukraine Phone Calls May Require Appointment of a Special Counsel
[RedState] In other words, we are required to take these tapes at face value, assume they are true, and proceed accordingly.
What would the next step look like?
Well, with an ordinary American, like Donald Trump, we’d unleash the Intelligence Community and the FBI. We’d get FISA warrants on his kid...they could sell the recordings on PornHub and help write down part of the Wuhan stimulus package. We’d run undercover operatives against members of his campaign. We’d set up stings to entrap senior staffers. We’d leak lies to the press to discredit Biden. But Biden isn’t an ordinary American. He’s Democrat royalty. So we can’t really have a Justice Department and FBI controlled by President Trump investigate Biden. It would be gauche and unseemly. But we do have a solution. A special counsel. Department of Justice regulations say this about the appointment of a special counsel:
Even though the tapes must be presumed true, we would be remiss in not giving Biden the benefit of the doubt and there is no better person to do that than a special counsel.

Graham Moves to Subpoena Brennan, Clapper and Other Major 'Obamagate' Players
[Townhall] Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham moved to gain subpoena authorization for a number of former Obama administration officials Monday evening.
"Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) today announced that the Committee would debate and vote on a subpoena authorization related to the FISA abuse investigation and oversight of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation," Graham's office released in a statement. "Graham’s subpoena authorization covers a number of documents, communications and testimony from witnesses, including James Comey, Andrew McCabe, James Clapper, John Brennan, Sally Yates, and others."
According to Committee rules, Graham must receive subpoena authorization approval from Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein or through a full vote from members. Once approved through one of these avenues, Graham can officially issue subpoenas to individuals he wants to testify. Democrats authorized subpoena power by party line vote in 2008 under then Chairman Patrick Leahy.
His authorization, if approved, will include the ability to subpoena the following individuals (bolding is mine). The list includes individuals who worked for Fusion GPS and authored the bogus Russian dossier about President Trump. That dossier was used by the FBI to investigate the Trump administration.

One if by Land, Two if by Sea, and Three if They're Using the CIA
[Redstate] In reporting on apparent CIA involvement in spying on an American citizen, RedState’s Bonchie observed:
If this were a Republican implicated, it’d be treated as the largest political scandal of the last hundred years.
And so it would. Therefore: Let’s treat it as the largest political scandal of the last hundred years.
I don’t see evidence that we need the cooperation of the blue media establishment to convince a majority of the American people that such is the case. The Other Guys like to behave as though they are the gatekeepers of public opinion. But we don’t have to accept their formulation. There’s an awful lot of empirical evidence out there that they only have 35 to 45 per cent of the voters under management. We can get to the rest, where "we" means the combined forces of the red media and the red citizenry. We do not have to sit here and grouse that "the media" won’t cover this. Sure it will. And that’s because we’re the media too.
Skips to BLUF:
There are a lot of these facts. It isn’t just Flynn. It isn’t just Carter Page. It isn’t just FISA. It isn’t just an FBI Director who lied under oath to the Court; or a Director of National Intelligence who lied under oath to Congress; or even a CIA Director who persuaded foreign allies to run sting operations on U.S. citizens for political purposes. It’s all of that, and a lot more. Only a tiny percentage of the public has the vaguest idea how much of it there really is. Things we know for a fact.
We need to fix that. Before November.

Jordan Requests Pompeo Turn Over Explosive Docs Exposing Alleged ‘Whistleblower' And Hunter Biden
[SaraA.Carter] Jim Jordan requested the US State Department under Mike Pompeo to turn over documents related to Obama Deep State employee Eric Ciaramella and Ukrainian firm Burisma.
Republicans are demanding that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo turn over a broad scope of unredacted Obama-Biden State Department documents pertaining to the corrupt Ukrainian company that was at the center of the impeachment inquiry earlier this year against President Donald Trump.
In a document sent to Pompeo, Jordan wrote:
"I write regarding documents that the State Department recently released pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)," stated Jordan, in a letter to Pompeo on Thursday. "Although these documents are partially redacted, they appear to shed new light on the actions of State Department employees during the Obama-Biden Administration in relation to the corrupt Ukrainian energy company, Burisma Holdings, and its founder, Mykola Zlochevsky."
Jordan requested that the information be delivered to the committee by May 28. He asked for:
According to Jordan the State Department documents also reveal that the alleged "whistleblower" who began the partisan impeachment against Trump "also played a role in facilitating the Obama-Biden Administration's interactions with the Ukrainian government relating to Burisma and Hunter Biden."
Jordan told Pompeo that the documents reportedly detail "how the whistleblower, as a National Security Council (NSC) detailee, hosted a White House meeting that took place with Ukrainian prosecutors in January 2016 regarding a concern that Hunter Biden's role with Burisma could complicate a potential prosecution of the company's wrongdoing."

New House vote-by-proxy measure sets off screaming alarms as Pelosi gobbles power
[BIZPACREVIEW] House Speaker essentially told members of Congress they don’t need to show up for work anymore and she will take care of voting for them.
The Democrat led members of the House to pass legislation on Friday that allows s to stay home and vote by proxy during the pandemic. The unprecedented bill coincided with the approval of a massive $3 trillion coronavirus stimulus package that has objecting Republicans reeling.
Rep. Steve Scalise condemned the "power grab" as "unconstitutional" during a panel discussion on Fox News, warning House members who voted in favor of proxy voting that they will have to face their constituents and explain why they "just voted to give your voting card to Nancy Pelosi."
"This is going to be a tough vote for them to explain," the House Minority Whip and GOP representative for Louisiana told former Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, who was filling in as host on "Hannity" Friday.
"You now signed on for values, and by the way, what are you doing there? Why are you collecting a paycheck if you want Nancy Pelosi to vote for you and represent your district?" Scalise said, adding that the bill "goes against Article I of the Constitution" by allowing 20 Democrats who are not present to make up a quorum on the House floor.
If it were to become law, the bill would, for the first time in the House’s 231-year history, allow a member to name a colleague to vote on their behalf. The member acting as a proxy, in addition, can represent up to 10 s under the new rule.

'Samantha Power Claimed She Never Tried To Unmask Michael Flynn, But Records Show She Unmasked Him 7 Times
[The Federalist] Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power testified to Congress in 2017 that she never sought to unmask records containing information about former White House National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Newly declassified documents from the National Security Agency (NSA), however, show that her name appeared on at least seven separate requests to unmask Flynn’s name between Nov. 30, 2016, and Jan. 11, 2017.
Shanty-Irish Willem Dafoe double
Power was asked explicitly during sworn 2017 testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) whether she had ever attempted to unmask information related to Michael Flynn, a retired general and former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency who later briefly served as national security adviser under President Donald Trump.
"The number of unmasking requests by yourself began to go up dramatically in 2014," Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., noted during his questioning of Power to explain why the topic of unmasking had been raised. "[L]et me then ask you about, sort of, maybe the gravamen of how this came about. And I think it came about over a concern about the leaking of Mike Flynn’s name."
"So, to your knowledge, did you ever make [redacted]?" Schiff asked, likely referring to intercepts of Flynn’s conversations.
"I don’t recall making such a request," Power said.
"And I just want to be clear that there’s no indication you ever made a request or that there necessarily was even a report on the subject. But I did want to get you on the record on that, because at the end of the day that’s sort of where this came from," Schiff said.
"Yes, I have no recollection of making a request related to General Flynn," Power again claimed.
"Okay," Schiff said. "And I take it you never leaked Mr. Flynn’s name in any way, General Flynn’s name?"
"I have never leaked classified information," Power said. "I have never leaked names that have come back to me in this highly compartmented process. I have, in fact, never leaked, even unclassified information."
Luckily she's already married to Cass Sunstein, so she has a lawyer
According to NSA documents declassified last week and released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, Power made seven separate requests to unmask Flynn’s name over a six-week period between the end of November 2016 and Jan. 11, 2017. The list of unmasking requests shows that Power requested unmaskings of information related to Flynn on Nov. 30, 2016; Dec. 2, 2016; Dec. 7, 2016; two separate requests on Dec. 14, 2016; Dec. 23, 2016; and Jan. 11, 2017.

Obamagate Is Not a Conspiracy Theory
[National Review] There’s no reason to ignore the mounting evidence that Obama administration officials were corrupt in their handling of the Trump—Russia investigation.
Those sharing #Obamagate hashtags on Twitter would do best to avoid the hysterics we saw from Russian-collusion believers, but they have no reason to ignore the mounting evidence that suggests the Obama administration engaged in serious corruption.
Democrats and their allies, who like to pretend that President Obama’s only scandalous act was wearing a tan suit, are going spend the next few months gaslighting the public by focusing on the most feverish accusations against Obama. But the fact is that we already have more compelling evidence that the Obama administration engaged in misconduct than we ever did for opening the Russian-collusion investigation.
It is not conspiracy-mongering to note that the investigation into Trump was predicated on an opposition-research document filled with fabulism and, most likely, Russian disinformation. We know the DOJ withheld contradictory evidence when it began spying on those in Trump’s orbit. We have proof that many of the relevant FISA-warrant applications — almost every one of them, actually — were based on "fabricated" evidence or riddled with errors. We know that members of the Obama administration, who had no genuine role in counterintelligence operations, repeatedly unmasked Trump’s allies. And we now know that, despite a dearth of evidence, the FBI railroaded Michael Flynn into a guilty plea so it could keep the investigation going.
What’s more, the larger context only makes all of these facts more damning. By 2016, the Obama administration’s intelligence community had normalized domestic spying. Obama’s director of national intelligence, James Clapper, famously lied about snooping on American citizens to Congress. His CIA director, John Brennan, oversaw an agency that felt comfortable spying on the Senate, with at least five of his underlings breaking into congressional computer files. His attorney general, Eric Holder, invoked the Espionage Act to spy on a Fox News journalist, shopping his case to three judges until he found one who let him name the reporter as a co-conspirator. The Obama administration also spied on Associated Press reporters, which the news organization called a "massive and unprecedented intrusion." And though it’s been long forgotten, Obama officials were caught monitoring the conversations of members of Congress who opposed the Iran nuclear deal.
Why is Obama Panicking Now? – The Importance of Understanding Political Surveillance In The Era of President Obama…
[Conservative Tree House] Why is former President Obama calling forth all his defensive resources now? Why did former national security advisor Susan Rice write her cya letter? Why have republicans in congress not been willing to investigate the true origins of political surveillance? What is the reason for so much anger, desperation and opposition from a variety of interests?
With the release of recent transcripts and the declassification of material from within the IG report, the Carter Page FISA and Flynn documents showing FBI activity, there is a common misconception about why the intelligence apparatus began investigating the Trump campaign in the first place. Why was Donald Trump considered a threat?
In this outline we hope to provide some fully cited deep source material that will explain the origin; and specifically why those inside the Intelligence Community began targeting Trump and using Confidential Human Sources against campaign officials.
During the time-frame of December 2015 through April 2016 the NSA database was being exploited by contractors within the intelligence community doing unauthorized searches.
On March 9, 2016, oversight personnel doing a review of FBI system access were alerted to thousands of unauthorized search queries of specific U.S. persons within the NSA database.
NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers was made aware.
Subsequently NSA Director Rogers initiated a full compliance review of the system to identify who was doing the searches; & what searches were being conducted.
On April 18, 2016, following the preliminary audit results, Director Rogers shut down all FBI contractor access to the database after he learned FISA-702 “about”(17) and “to/from”(16) search queries were being done without authorization. Thus begins the first discovery of a much bigger background story.
When you compile the timeline with the people involved; and the specific wording of the resulting review, which was then delivered to the FISA court; and overlay the activity that was taking place in the GOP primary; what we discover is a process where the metadata collected by the NSA was being searched for political opposition research and surveillance.

A Surprising Figure Is Now Going Under the Microscope Over the Michael Flynn Ordeal
[Red State] I didn’t expect to see H.R. McMaster’s
Adam Housley is reporting that the man who replaced Flynn at NSA is now coming under scrutiny.
This tweet is obviously really short on details, but it actually makes a lot of sense when you go back to 2017 and review how everything went down. Upon Flynn’s firing, McMaster came into the role and absolutely cleaned house. He notably promoted several anti-Trump figures in his office, a point of contention that festered until his resignation.
McMaster also played right into the Trump-Russia investigation, refusing to tell the President he was a target.
Further, there’s the matter of Ezra Cohen-Watnick, who blew the whistle on all the unmaskings that took place during the latter months of the Obama administration. McMaster attempted to fire him but Trump blocked the move initially. Who did McMaster want to replace him with? A Democrat flack who authored the Benghazi talking points that caused so much controversy during that period. McMaster eventually got his way and got rid of Cohen-Watnick.
As it pertains to Flynn, there’s no doubt McMaster was well aware of everything that had been done. There’s also no doubt that he was read into all the corruption that occurred involving the FBI and the Page FISA warrants. The entire reason Flynn was targeted was almost certainly because he would have discovered that information. McMaster sat on it, though, perhaps even aiding the cover-up.
Given all that, it makes perfect sense that he’s being investigated at this point. We’ll see where this goes.
