#4 Which means that Ed Asner, Babs and Sean Penn are interfering with your grand plan. Not to mention Inspector Clouseau, er, Hans Blix. The more the far-lefties rave about how evil it is to force Saddam out, the less likely it is we'll be able to threaten invasion credibly -- hence, no palace coup.

So we need to persuade the leftie kooks that they'd actually get their way -- no invasion -- if only they'd shut up and let us wave the big stick. Who's up for the challenge? Fred? Steve? Ptah?

However, the "evil plan" is for Saddam to take out his most competent aides, since they are, at the same time, competent enough to see the handwriting on the wall and eliminate him. He knows that the chances of the artistes and the Anti-war nuts stopping GWII depends on how seriously the POTUS takes them. Which, after the November elections, adds up to not damn much...
