#2 Staying in a 4-5 star insulates you from the vibe on the street. Sometimes to the point of feeling like you've 'clocked out'.

In a 1-2 star your room might be robbed but not blown to bits.

In this case the hotel and it's occupants were the target. Unlike a single individual.
