#6 On reading this i am reminded of what you have told us over the years, dot com, which is how tribal these societies (those of the arabian peninsula and adjoining areas) are.

ISTM that the Sunni Arab population of Iraq is more tribal then the rest of Iraq, and esp in Anbar province.
