#2 So how did integrating China into the market system to make them more cooperative and less bellicose work out? Sort of ignoring several thousand years of ethnocentric history [Shang, Han, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, Manchu dynasties].

#3 Well China does have a long history of being insular. I think in the grand scheme they are more likely to close up shop and say goodbye to the world before risking war with the West. yeah, they might try to screw our economy at the same time, but still.
