#1 Back in Oct 2019 we decided to play around on WoW-dot-Com to see how effective order processing and shipping lag times worked.

(Note: they also sell AR-## parts that a number of USA vendors put their names on.)

The face masks we ordered came in last at over 90+ days and in crammed in a #10 envelope. They were not wrapped and there was no appearance that any Medical Hygiene standard was followed in production, packaging or shipping of the product. We immediately tossed them in the OUTSIDE Trash can.

The AR## folding stock adapter part did work fine.

#2 If, as many people believe, masks don't work, how do you define a "counterfeit" mask?

#4 AFAICT, the USA has done as little as possible to raise domestic production of PPE that is useful for the current pandemic, and for future airborne pandemics. Health care workers continue to report shortages of PPE at their level and the need to reuse existing PPE to make up the difference. USA is still dependent on unreliable outside sources. Our congresscritters must have more important things to do, like collecting their bennies and impeaching people who are out of office.

#5 Any figures out there about the total import (measured in megadeaths) from China of fentanyl and carfentanil in the last year?

#6 Why do we keep doing business with these crooks? Oh, right. Somebody's making a helluva lotta money.

I believe it is a function of the FDA to approve domestic suppliers as meeting standards. Foreign suppliers are inspected by their own governments, I suspect.

#8 I can recall an account out of Europe (Netherlands, IIRC) during the "height" of the "crisis" when the Chinese would only agree if the cash was provided up-front. Upon receipt, virtually 100% of the PPE was defective/worthless. Needless to say, all sales are final.

#9 Failure to secure long term production contracts was a point. That is, production could be scaled up and met, but without a guaranteed production amount to cover those costs they were afraid they would be left holding the bag.

And they ended up being absolutely correct. Production has still not recovered from the "2 week shutdown" and covid precaution redesigns, and companies decided to go with the cheap chinese knockoffs.

#10 I believe it is a function of the FDA to approve domestic suppliers as meeting standards. That statement may be formally correct. However, last I checked, the US Congress still writes the laws governing the operation of the FDA, and most importantly, sets the funding for the operation of the FDA. Congress is free to modify that legislation and if necessary write new legislation to deal with problems like the perpetual insufficient supply of secure domestic sources of PPE to deal with respiratory epidemics. Just because leading Congressional blowhards and the MSM both ignore this possibility doesn't change what could still be done.
