#2 there are no coincidences in this business....anybody notice the publicized cancellation of the 700 ton blockbuster the other day, with explicit description of how it produces a mushroom clound and penetrates tens of meters down? Hmmmmmmmm
the messages are everywhere....Cheney yesterday, carrier deployments, Iran bombings....what do you think is happening under our very noses!

#3 "This morning while on a mission in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan the commander Saeed Ghahari was martyred in a helicopter crash," the semi-official Fars news agency Fars said without giving a source.

Martyred? Is this some tacit admission that they were on a recon martyrdom mission, so to speak?

To quote that great modern philosopher Maynard James Keenan,

"Cause I need to watch things die, from a good safe distance..."

#4 Payback is a biatch. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot more Iranian aircraft suddenly develop acute mechanical problems mid-flight in the next few weeks.

#5 Well, well. What a surprise. Funny how things can have consequences. There is so much more to "The Surge" than meets the eye. Sort of like when Lincoln finally got Grant as a General. This is VERY encouraging. Count on the Dem's to whine and pound their little fists over this.

#6 How can the Democrats complain when an indigenous insurgent group gets in a hit against the majority government that discriminates so blatently against them?

#7 MEK. Unsavory group. Guess we've let them out of the camps to go wreak havoc on the mullahs.

#8 If the Iranian Kurds can now reliably shootdown helios, the Mullahs have a big problem. Just as the Russians in Afghanistan did when the Muj got Stingers. These are remote areas with few roads and many places to hide.

BTW, I doubt ethnic Persians are a majority in Iran.

#13 FE1667, you would expect MEK in Teheran or in Balochistan then? or ???

We've been pretty successful in quietly dismantling the MEK leadership in their camp. Bunch of people came over to the other side ... maybe a few working for us.

I would expect MEK further south, this was shot down on the Turkish border, no expert here , just speculating the little I know about them.
